Best Western Journel Nice Saint-Laurent-du-Var
"Pathetic customer service broken air con"

OnAir65222108117, 18 Juin 2026

My stay at Best Western Hotel Journel Aéroport in Saint-Laurent-du-Var was extremely disappointing. The air conditioning in my room was not working, making the room uncomfortable throughout the night. When I raised the issue with the night receptionist, I was met with a rude and dismissive attitude. There was little effort to help, no accountability taken for the problem, and no practical solution offered. The room only had a thick duvet, which was far too warm given the lack of functioning air conditioning. I repeatedly requested a simple bedsheet so I could sleep more comfortably. Despite several requests, this was only provided reluctantly and after a considerable delay. What made the situation even more frustrating was the complete lack of access to a manager overnight. There appeared to be no effective process for escalating guest concerns when basic room facilities were not working. A broken air conditioner, poor customer service, and the unwillingness to address a reasonable request turned what should have been a straightforward stay into a very unpleasant experience. I would not stay here again and cannot recommend this hotel based on my experience.

"A really nice stopping place"

Wendy W, 27 Juin 2025

This hotel is very nice. We really enjoyed having such a spacious room and a balcony to enjoy a bit of fresh air. We would stay here again and for longer next time because its so easy to get into. The streets nearby are undergoing some construction but it was not a big challenge as we arrived on a Saturday. We enjoyed a few of the nearby stores and restaurants and found it super convenient to walk out and get a few supplies. The staff were excellent, helpful, friendly and spoke excellent english in addition to french. We truly felt welcomed and that anything we needed would be supplied. The bed was excellent and the pillows were the best of our trip. We also took advantage of parking, which I would have preferred if it was free but it provided excellent value and convenience to keep our rental safe under the hotel. This is a great property. We just stayed a night before our airport departure but would have been very comfortable for a longer stay. The shower was excellent in terms of water pressure and consistent temperature.

"Family vacation"

The hotel and staff were amazing. We spent two nights at the hotel. Our check in was smooth. Staff especially Elijah and Barbara, and another lady (sorry forgot to ask her name during checkout) were very friendly. The hotel was conveniently located. Had balcony with view of mountains. Train station was a 10 minute walk. Rooms were very clean. We had hot water issues for one day but were told that it was due to power outage. Our overall experience was great. If we visit Nice again, we will definitely consider staying at the hotel.

"Wonderful experience"

We have traveled a lot and stayed in various hotels. In some places, people were friendlier and more willing to help with issues, and some were less competent. But in the hotel where we stayed in September this year on the Côte d'Azur, the staff was quite exceptional with their friendliness, kindness, and patience. We met with Gabriella, Varvara, Ellie, and Adolphe daily. There wasn't a single issue they couldn't resolve for us, whether it was daily matters or computer work. And when we asked to contact companies or arrange excursions, they always had a solution. We bought a train pass and visited Monaco and Cannes with it, and for visiting Nice we used city tourist buses. The hotel itself is modern, new and very clean, with rooms kept in perfect condition and cleaned daily. Overall, we recommend this hotel and would definitely stay here again if we visit this region. "I am a loyal customer of this Hotel and I am very satisfied with the services and the fresh and quality"

F37m, 16 Octobre 2024

a few days before I made a reservation at this hotel. On October 12 at 11:00 p.m. in the evening I was greeted by a very beautiful and kind girl with a wide and beautiful smile at the reception. he spoke to me very politely, he gave me the key to the room. and my entire stay at the hotel was one of the most beautiful and lush experiences. it is clean and well taken care of. I am 100% satisfied. I recommend this Hotel with all confidence. Thanks to the girl at the reception and the staff. I will come back guaranteed.

"Clean, friendly and Quiet"

Bowleser71, 12 Octobre 2024

Lovely hotel, friendly staff, room spotless, great balcony. Only downside a bit off the tourist strip so bear that in mind, 15 min walk to train station, 1 min walk to bus stop with very regular busses, multiple bus routes.(they finish at 10pm though) Local shops all around though.

"Very comfortable. Helpful staff . Would recommend. "

rosebayram, 24 Septembre 2018

It wasn't quite what I was expecting but actually turned out to be very nice. The hotel is modern, comfortable and efficient. I think it's good value for money. I have to thank the staff for all their help because of my recent leg injury - they really did everything they could to assist me. My room had everything I needed including a huge bathroom with super shower. The staff were all very helpful. I paid and used their private underground car park ( very tight if you have a big car) . They have some alcohol in reception and a few bar stools however I don't believe they serve any food except breakfast. They did give me a menu for food which could be delivered to my room because I couldn't go out due to leg injury. If you are looking for a comfortable modern hotel I would recommended this place but be prepared to pay extra for parking if you don't want to leave your car on the street.

"Perfect "

Ben H, 26 Août 2018

A good price for what was a perfect stay. Very modern and well decorated. The lift took us straight from our rooms to the carpark so once we had checked in there was no need to walk through the hotel again. The room was a good size and was clean. The bathroom too was clean and well finished. Just what was needed for a 2 night stay in Nice.

"Excellent Room & nothing was too much trouble"

Charlie S, 19 Juin 2018

Excellent experience checking in with the language barrier not being a problem. The rooms were exceptionally clean & tidy, great decor and aircon set at a sensible temperature for arrival. Fast, easy access wifi was perfect as we were travelling for business. I had to unexpectedly leave so asked if the sheets could be changed for the person taking over and this was done without question. Would 100% recommend.
