"Great afternoon tea "


While I didn't lodge at the best western hotel in oldies I did stop by for afternoon tea. Great experience with them. Friendly service and awesome afternoon tea. Great sandwiches and snacks and very good tea. Loved it.

This cafe is open to the general public and offers an unrushed peaceful environment for refreshments. There is a limited menu, but is extremely good value and service is with a smile. If you want a catch up with a friend it is an ideal cafe to visit.

"Five days in London for family reasons."


We had already been in this hotel in June and we did not hesitate to book it again, for our need, from 25 to 30 September. The motivations are very simple, that is, we could appreciate the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. A special thanks goes to Mrs. Svetlana who helped us to solve some problems and who patiently made up for our lack of knowledge of the language. Cozy and clean rooms, excellent breakfast. Try it.

Please be warned. This hotel is WAY below US Best Western standards and they WILL charge you for nights not stayed. I had to move hotels and it cost me $600 total. It will absolutely ruin a tourist visit of London!

Been here since Monday 20th August. I was pleasantly surprised I got 10 % instant on my bookings. The room was superbly clean. And the Receptionist Svetlana helped me to bring my luggage to lifts. Service is 5 Star Status

Room was spotlessly clean and very spacious, bathroom equally clean and tidy, nice shower and cosy bed, there's a little noise from the road but overall I slept very well, the man on reception was very welcoming and friendly

Friendly staff and service. Room had everything needed. Only in the backstreet it was quite noisy in the middle of the night. So, I had to close the window. If there would have been plain yoghurt and muesli at breakfast, I'd given five stars.

Hired a hall in this hotel for a conference and also for a book launch. Staff helpful. Unfortunately the PA system was not working, otherwise a good venue for intimate or slightly larger group functions. Very close to the station and bus stop. Limited parking though .

"terrible night in this hotel"


We spent one night at the Best Western Hotel. They checked us in, in the horrible room 301. There was only a small window in a room. The whole night was the temperature of 29 degrees in a room (the outside temperature was 20 degrees). We couldn't sleep. We called the reception asking to do something or we wish change this room. They said the hotel is full and they don't have desk fans any more. We travel a lot and often sleep in hotels, but this time we were treated as animals. (In addition, the hotel doesn't has a parking spaces). Never again...

Very nice and well priced, always good to see smiling faces especially Svetlana the receptionist. I'll be back again when I need hotel in London. For my next stay I wish to have cookies in the room or at least biscuits.

"Nice nice nice!"


We really enjoyed this hotel! The room was cozy and very clean pretty yummy breakfast AWESOME Breakfast Staff kudos to them, breakfast was free of charge since we are Best Western Rewards member the front desk staff Svetlana was very friendly she took her time to help us with all our questions about hotel location and rides from the hotel to the main attractions points in London! We paid very cheap price for what this hotel offered I definitely recommend this hotel to any of my friends and family and we definitely go back next summer!

"beautiful and cosy place - Austin"


the reception was very warm and homely. The receptionist - Ms. Svetlana was much helpful. the room is okay for the size and price, it has a comfortable bed, well-positioned television, and a reading/working desk. the breakfast was excellently tasty. a beautiful location, close to train station and stores.

5 minutes from Ilford train station, 5 minutes from a couple of Wetherspoons and a good Buffet, no fridge in room, OK TV, very small bed and small room, shower only, kettle and coffee sachets provided.

"Rude staff"


Having had afternoon tea here in April, we enquired about the function room, we asked the lovely lady in reception if we could pay cash as we had some trouble with our cards and we are awaiting new cards, she replied "yes, however you have to pay in advance before using function room." We agreed and said we will pay the £50 deposit the next day, on coming in the next day the rude women who represents this hotel was extremely rude and said the room is already booked, and we can only pay by card, I informed her we had spoken to someone else yesterday and she said everything was fine, she then had the cheek to tell me I don't think you understand, she is not English has a string eastern European accent, she clearly did not want us English black people to hire the room she was very Rude, maybe the management could put her on a customer service course and racial awareness course I will never go back there and will never recommend it to a friend as I felt I was treated this way by this lady because of my colour, that is so wrong, feel free to reply @the management team this incident happened at approximately 12.45 today 2/6/18



Absolutely surprised at the level of class in this hotel considering it's in Ilford ??... would definitely recommend this hotel.. staff we're brilliant especially a beautiful receptionist called Svetlana, she was very sweet and well mannered ????

"Fooled again!"


I have fell for this in a Best Western before.. "we have upgraded you to an Executive Room".. oooh I think after a 4 hour drive, that's nice!!! No it's not actually. Room is outside with 2 other executive rooms. Executive rooms 1&2 have a sign for them, room 3.. my room.. has no sign at all! Anyway.. I open the door and the smell of damp is over powering. But I think to myself, if this is an upgrade then I best not ask for my original Room! So I dump my stuff and walk to the supermarket and purchase air freshener. Of which I used the whole bottle over the stay. So what else can I astound you with. Wobbly plug sockets, rusty shower rails, a leak under the carpet near the bathroom which I found in the night..hence the smell I realise! Generally scruffy and most certainly not an Executive Room. Although I am scared to think of what I could have ended up in. Shower kind of pours out at an angle that is only any good if you are actually a triangle. It does not move. Oh and parking.. Haha. I am down the road, next to the hotel bins under trees and in front of a private garage. Yea I expect to be clamped but hotel says it's fine. Hope it's actually still there tomorrow! I travel all over the country.. I most certainly will not be staying here again.

"Different afternoon tea"


We were bought afternoon tea here as a Christmas present and wasn't sure what to expect. But what we did get was really lovely. The lady who served us was very helpful, we were told to chose what sandwiches we wanted from the menu and choice of breads which wasn't just brown or white but seeded as well which we liked. And so freshley made lovely. These were bought up on a stand with little cakes and tarts on top layer and fruit in the middle layer, this I didn't expect which was a lovely change and healthy too. Then toasted tea cakes with butter and jam, another unexpected treat to afternoon tea, I've never had that anywhere before. And last was a scone each with squirty cream and strawberry sauce (maybe clotted cream and jam would have been better, but for the price it cost we can understand) We thoroughly enjoyed it though. And will return.

I can't fault this hotel at all. The staff are friendly and welcoming, the hotel is clean and inviting. Breakfast catered for everyone from cereal, croissants to full fry up and plenty of it. Off street parking and good wifi too.

Great staff, svetlana , the receptinist was really sweat to us. Get us a bigger Room when our travel agency didn't do. Really cool space to stay. A LittleBigPlanet dar from center of london but they have a trainee station 2 min away. Thanks for everything !

"Great spot at very reasonable rates"


Super handy for London - we used for a night out in town & to save us our normal 2 hour train trip home to the sticks! Worked brilliant. Clean & quiet. What else do you need this close to town for those rates - we got a mid week room for £37.50! The receptionist, Svetlanq, was super helpful too & explained everything we needed to know. Will be using this place again as a night out in London bed..

"Worst Hotel "


The worst hotel stay ever. I travel a lot and used to staying on hotels including budget ones. They never had the heating on and the room was cold. I later discovered the radiator was switched off. They never told me about it. When I started to shower in the morning, I had to twiddle the taps around until the temperature was right. Nearly burned myself in the process. The shower cubicle is designed for a child and not for an adult. The whole experience was atrocious, instead of being relaxed my day was ruined as a result of lack of sleep and not being able to clean myself properly. I just don't understand as to why they did not just make the toilet and shower as a single wet room. This would have made the shower area larger for all sizes of people. By the way I am not fat. The breakfast was the only good thing. There is no car parking and the car parking advice is very poor, well does not exist. Will not recommend this place to anyone.



We were at Best western greater hotel London 5 days in october. They pre authorised my moms card twice before we come (everytime 69€). When we came we paid full price for all days cash and they pre-authorised my card with 50 libras deposit for room card. When we´ve done check out , employee told me that all money (moms preauthorisations and my) will be back in our accounts in next 7-10 days. We are at home for three months and money aren´t still back. I´m so pissed off, disappointed, and feeling cheated. I don´t recommend this hotel!! I´ve written positive recommend to when we left hotel, but i won´t to cancel it because it´s not true and I knew it late.. I am willing to cancel this review when the hotel returns the money they owe us (more than 200 € !!!)

"good value for money, nice staff, cramped rooms, no parking"


The hotel was cheap and also in a good location in Ilford, close to a lot of shops, However, they had no parking here and although they said they had parking at the other BW down the road, that was full too, but we were lucky as we were there on the bank holiday and could get away with parking. We booked a room for four, which was quite cramped and although it had a window, the window was past like a small corridor and very far from the beds because of the layout of the room (attic). The room should have at least had air conditioning since the window is so far away. Everything was clean and breakfast was good. I booked from laterooms and initially booked the BW Ilford (down the road), and as I wanted to swap from a triple room to a quad room (there were none available in that one) so they moved us here and charged £30 just to switch the hotel (both were BW) as well as £10 which was the price difference between the rooms.

stayed for 2 nights when i was working away, the room are very clean and a good size, breakfast was good with a full hot menu from full English to eggs on toast and cold buffet as well, all the staff were very friendly a good place to stay

"Little oasis in busy Ilford "


Loved this place, the room was spacious and clean. All the Staff were polite and helpful when needed. In a really good location for access to the airport with a supermarket nearby as well as many restaurants down the street. We stayed here for 14 nights and found it easy to get into the centre of London by using Public transport a direct train from Ilford station. Breakfast was amazing with lot of variety. They serve very tasty Muffins during breakfast. The reception staff (Svetlana) was very helpful with all the information. The housekeeping staff (Cristina) was really good. Thank you for taking good care of us and always be so helpful.

The room is lovely, clean and the hotel are very close to everythings you ever needed in ilford. receptionist her name is Svetlane, She used to greets and helpful. I really enjoyed myself at the hotel

"Con Men and Theifs."


I stay in different hotels virtually every day for work and I have never come into contact with such bad hotel policies, Firstly my booking was originally for the Best Western Ilford but on arrival they informed me they had moved me to BW Greater London, No apologies or is that ok??. So after a further .05 mile walk with my cases I turned up to a hotel that was clearly a down grade, then I was refused entry because I refused to give them a further £50.00 as a security deposit, I obviously looked like a theif or a room wrecker, they claim this was their company policy although I have stayed at many BWHotels and have never been asked this before, also in my opinion this should be clearly highlighted before the booking so to allow people to shop accordingly, its is nowhere to be seen in Expedias Hotel Policies section who I booked through. When I asked for a refund they told me no!! I was to late for a cancelation when I said I am not cancelling you are refusing entry they just ignored me. So in short they wasted 2 hours of my time plus a 2 hr journey only to kick me out on the street at 8.30pm after stealing my money. please see note from receptionist called Anna. I was surprised when I saw the hotel. The room was clean, the employees very kind, and the breakfast was AWESOME??. And also you have a bus station in front of the hotel, the train station is near the hotel too.

I was booked into the hotel, by the BBC, on a brief business trip to London. When I arrived, somewhat frazzled, I was given a great welcome and the receptionist, Svetlana could not have been more helpful. My room was clean, spacious and contained everything I could possibly have asked for or needed. As a frequent traveller, I was as greatly relieved to find that the room was not overheated, as is the case in so many other hotels. I congratulate Best Western on making a short and hectic business stay into a positive experience for a single female traveller.

"Nice place to stay when travel in London"


I found Best Western Greater London quite easy, despite the fact that close to this Best Western it is another one .... Best Western too. So don't make the confusion ! The first impression was not "wow" but after we arrived at the reception, Svetlana welcomed us with a smile like a June sun. And not only she was friendly but all the staff. Clean, very good food (we never finished completely the breakfast), close to a lot of shops and the most important very close (cca 5 minutes) to Ilford Rail Station from where you can go wherever you want. We enjoy staying there and definitely we will come back soon.

Booked this hotel due its proximity and travel connections to Westfield, Stratford shopping centre. Situated on a busy main road in culturally rich area there is a sense of a vibrant atmosphere to the area. The good stuff... - a couple of minutes walk to Ilford station, trains run every 10-15mins and overground with few stops into Liverpool st. - plenty of restaurants & bars/ pubs. - local shops - small shopping centre - excellent receptionist, who arranged car parking - good shower - very nice breakfast and choice at breakfast - comfortable bed - free wifi ( not sure how good it was as we had decent 4G signal) Down sides... - very small room, the bed was pushed up against the wall. - broken shards of mirror on bathroom floor - very hot corridors and bed room with no temperature control - poor digital TVs signal I'd have expected a bit better standard of rooms from a best western, but there is obviously not a standardised level. Not sure if I'd stay again, but if needs be its an option at the right price (but not in the warmer months).

"Bad arrangement by hotel reception, noisy tiny hot hotel room"


We booked a room for 3 at Britannia Inn Hotel via When we arrived at the hotel in late evening, we were told there was electrical issue going on in our room so we had to go to another hotel - Best Western Ilford. The front desk said it was just couple blocks away but he had arranged a cab to get us there so we didn't have to walk with our regular North American size luggage. He also said that's a 4-star hotel which was better than Britannia Inn Hotel. Eventually we found out he was lying because at least the Britannia Inn Hotel is located in a quiet neighbor. Once we arrived at Best Western Ilford, the front desk told us we went to the wrong hotel and we were in fact arranged to stay at Best Western Greater London Hotel and it was another couple blocks away, on the main road. This time even though it's the hotel and the cab driver had all this screwed up, we had to walk to the hotel ourselves. We were quite mad because it was late at night, 10'ish pm and we had to walk with big luggage due to a stupid mistake made by the front desk and cab. We were 100% sure both hotel and cab driver had this screwed up because they communicated in their own languages (not native English speaker talking to non-native English speaker). Once we checked in at Best Western Greater London Hotel, we were told our room # was 201 which is facing the busy main road. The front desk (who is a guy) showed us how to use the card to unlock the door lock but we had no luck after several tries. We were back and forth to the front desk several times. The next day we found out from another reception lady that the instruction we got was wrong!!! Really annoying! The hotel rooms are neither equipped with air conditioning or electric fan. Only the lobby/main level is installed with air conditioning. This July was really hot in London. Without any air conditioning or electric fan, we opened the windows in order to get to sleep but the noise was really super noisy and annoying that we had no way to sleep at all. We closed the windows again, but the noise was still loud, of course, we couldn't get to sleep with the hot temperature. The windows are so cheap in quality that they are not sound-proofed. Even it was midnight, we could still hear people screaming and yelling, cars speeding, buses stopping and leaving the bus stop, ambulance turning on its siren. We barely slept for more than 3 hours and we were waken up by the bus again sometime around 5am. We complained to the front desk next morning and they said they could get us a room locating at the back of the hotel, it's room 208. As mentioned earlier, this room isn't equipped with electric fan or air conditioning either but we at least can open the windows for natural freeze and air. Our hotel room floor is equipped with a big chandelier by the staircase. This chandelier comes with 10+ light bulbs. The hallway is small and not installed with any air conditioning. One can imagine how super hot it is. This is totally ridiculous of putting this giant chandelier at this tiny little hotel hallway. There were couple super hot nights that we couldn't get to sleep eveb with windows opened, so we asked the front desk for an electric fan. We couldn't imagine the electric fan was so tiny that it's only good for 1 person! This fan is only 10” diameter! It's just better than nothing! There is free breakfast and a lot of varieties: sausage, bacon, eggs, fruits, scones, … no complaints. Staff were polite. The restaurant is equipped with air conditioning, so no one will eat and sweat at the same time! We asked the front desk why there was no air conditioning and they said air conditioning was only available at 5-star hotel in London. This is absolutely wrong and misleading! We stayed at Holiday Inn Express at Croydon, it is 3.5-star hotel and their rooms all come with air conditioning!!! Without proper sound-proofing windows and air conditioning installed, why this Best Western Greater London is marked as 4-star hotel??? This is absolutely a lie. Holiday Inn Express at Croydon is way better and more comfortable than Best Western Greater London. It is just 10 minutes walk from Croydon train station which has easy access to Gatwick Airport. It is just 1/2 block off from main street and local train station and the rooms are super quiet! Although we booked a room for 3 but they are really super tiny and only 1 luggage is “allowed” on the floor for packing. No wonder why there is no electric fan in each hotel room by default or a bigger fan will be given. This hotel is about 5-minute walk from Ilford train station which is the only reason we picked it. There are many restaurants nearby but most of them are Turkish or Islamic food. It's really difficult to find a place for traditional English or European food. Restaurants in Ilford are comparatively cheaper than London. Although it's just steps away from Ilford train station, if one flies via Gatwick or Heathrow Airport, we didn't realize it will take up to 2 hours to get there during rush hour because it requires several stops and transits. Ilford is not the right place to stay if one is flying via these 2 airports. We are always given a survey to review the hotels if we book through but this time, we never receive one. However, this doesn't stop us from sharing our miserable experience since we are sure if we send this to, they will not post it and ask us to rewrite our review to make them look better (we had been told to do so in the past about our experience staying at a hotel in Taiwan which we booked through them). Last word, not recommending this hotel to anyone unless you are sure you pick cool days to stay at this hotel (not sure if this hotel comes with heating system) or you are given a room away from the busy main road!

"Average at best "


Polite check in staff was a plus but the hotel is not good. No amenities such as iron and ironing board. No advice on this during check in despite being on a business visit and letting reception know we had a meeting. No food for evening as restaurant is 'closed for refurb' however breakfast was available so not sure how that works.... Room is poor quality, misplaced fittings, light bulbs gone, wall clock not working.

I enjoyed afternoon tea here with my grand daughter on a rainy summer's afternoon. We had a lovely experience, the staff were welcoming and friendly. "Great for the price"


Great little hotel, very creative use of space. The quirky cafe/reception area is fun and and all the staff seemed really friendly. The room was very small but clean and well appointed (and more plug sockets than you can ever need!). Great location too – only a few minutes walk from Ilford station from where you can get to Liverpool St in about 20 minutes. We were visiting for an event at the Olympic Stadium, so it really is perfect for that, with Stratford also being on the train line. Would definitely use again.

This is our third time using this hotel so they must be doing something right, It's not what you might expect at first the frontage is a shop front but don't be fooled by that it's every bit a hotel.The staff are what shine through every time here always happy to be accommodating and nothing is a problem for them, Accommodation is clean and in good decorative condition, for some reason the corridors are very warm ?. Adequate conference room facility to see clients for simple discussions. Reception staff is friendly and helpful in particular, Anna. The surroundings were clean and tidy. Tne location is quite close to Ilford Railway station.

We were given an afternoon tea voucher as a present. No booking was required. The staff were welcoming and very pleasant which makes a big difference in my view to any visit. We could choose from a variety of sandwich fillings and were also given mini cakes, scones,tea cakes and fruit. The food and presentation may have lacked some of the finesse seen in top hotels, but it has to be balanced against the price and location. Overall it was enjoyable, very good value v the cost, and the friendly staff made a positive impact on our experience.

The hotel in Ilford is just opposite the railway station, and the train brings you to London City in 18 minutes. The hotel is vety nice, and serve a full breakfast cooked the way you want. The benefits by staying in Ilford are cheaper hotel, an internesting restaurants just outside the hotel. Just 300 meters away is a very big park for a run or a nice walk. Not last time we will book a hotel outside the city venter

"Budget Hotel near London"


Beds comfortable. Room was clean. Bathtub shower is detachable shower wand. No refrigerator. No air conditioner. Train to London is two blocks away. Front door locked in evenings. Reception desk open 24 hrs. Cafe on ground floor. Elevator. Many restaurants in neighborhood. Park is a few blocks away.

I found the rooms not so great and the food in the restaurant along whit the service was below Best Western standards. If I was to go back to London I would not stay here again. instant coffee poor shuttle service they can do better for the price.

Hot room and corridor: Rooms and corridor were not properly ventilated by the only in-room small window. Feel like in an oven. Hard to sleep at night. Small fan can be provided upon request but limited to 1 per room even in a triple room.

"Quaint and Cozy"


The hotel is situated in between shops with one entrance that gets locked at night with a receptionist on duty 24/7 which provides an immense feeling of security. The rooms are not air conditioned but the windows are able to be opened to let in a breeze. The staff was extremely accommodating and happy to answer any questions I had. Although there is not a restaurant on site, not even a 5 minute walk away was a little coffee shop and about 10 minutes away was a 24/7 food market. The station is right across the street which was convenient. The only strange thing was the fire alarms that happened to go off at least twice a morning but it was a great wake up call. The staff was in the room everyday replenishing amenities to ensure the room was like new again when I returned for the night. Overall I enjoyed my stay and I got exactly what I payed for accompanied by excellent customer service.

I was staying in the hotel couple weeks ago and was impressed by professionalism of receptionist working in the hotel. it was my first time in London and I didn't know much where to go. One of the receptionists (Stefan) was keen to help and explain where to go and how to save money on tickets to sight seens by using the gift cards and vouchers. overall: Highly recommended stay at convenient location for reasonable money.

"Best coffee in the region."


Coffee is served for non staying guests during morning hours. Receptionist Agnes was very kind and offered the spacious conference room to enjoy our coffees for the big family of five. Latte, hot chocolate and americano was delicious.

"Good stay"


For the price it is good. Their breakfast was fantastic. They have bakery items for your choosing and the hot items is made to order. If the tfl train runs, it is easy to get into the city. If not then your trip is longer. The place is clean, and the bathroom is up to date. A would recommend travellers to stay if you have more than 3 days in London.

"Tea for two"


Had a Groupon deal here. Tea was colourful but disappointing. Half a teacake each and a scone with tinned spray cream. One chicken korma sandwich each. Couldn't find the chicken. Had fruit but the strawberries were not ripe. Nice blueberries and slices of orange. Staff were nice. Not a good street view but it is Ilford. Can't expect a posh view. Been here before but it's gone down. I'm sure we had real cream when it started. What a shame about the almost non existent in the chicken korma filling. The photo of the tea on Groupon looks like smoked salmon and cream cheese but that's not on offer. Also nice very little cakes. 8 in the photo titled 'Tea for Two' on the Groupon page. Two each in actuality. Good price but wouldn't expect much more in Ilford. A group of friends went today and still the same filling or lack of. If you go I think you won't return.

"Disappointed "


Arriving after a long day at work this hotel was an unwelcome end to a tiring day. I should have researched more myself I guess and I would have discovered there is no parking available no restaurant and no bar. To my mind it's more of a guest house than a hotel. The guy on reception was very helpful and did everything he could to make me feel better including ordering in some food, plating it up and even bringing it to my room. The room itself was strange. Quite dated in one respect with curtains from several decades ago and two beds crammed into a single room. However the bathroom was quite modern with a fab shower. The clock on the wall read 11:30 when I arrived and still said the same when I left at 7:30am this morning. All in all not a terrible stay but one that ensures I won't be returning. Best Western used to be associated with good quality but I'm afraid if Ilford is anything to go by standards have dropped over the years sorry to say.

The hotel itself is cozy, accessible by public transport. Rooms are clean, spacious. Great value for budget. Don't be deceived by the exteriors (which are a bit shabby).

"One old git and her daughter"


Went to this hotel on a very good deal for mother and daughter time. Well what a little gem. Staff and facilities were amazing especially Michael who couldn't have been more helpful. Afternoon tea which was included was different but plentiful and included fresh fruit. The rooms were very clean and included a double and single bed. Very surprised how quiet the room was slept like a log.Breakfast was also very good and cooked to order. We went to a show in West End transport was easy and plentiful. Most impressed with llford a vibrant cosmopolitan area with a shopping centre and a Wetherspoon's very close to hotel. Ilford main line station 2 minutes from hotel so what more could you want? So thank you Michael and team for a very enjoyable stay watch out we'll be back!

"Surprise Package"


Went for afternoon tea and was pleasantly surprised by the standard of cleanliness and the food on offer. We had a really good time with our friends and the staff were very efficient. The only downside was trying to find a parking space but it was a Saturday.

I purchased a voucher from Groupon for Afternoon Tea, wasn't too sure what to expect initially. We got to the Reception desk and the waitress showed us to a table. She was so welcoming and extremely good at her job! The place was very clean and the seats were very comfortable. We then got our food which was 4 mini cakes, fresh delicious fruit and sandwiches. I have to say the sandwiches were on soft baked fresh seeded bread, they were so yummy!!! She then brought over our scones and tea cakes, there was loads of food to eat! the tea was really hot (just how I like my tea). Only strange thing was the scones had whipped cream with strawberry sauce, but everything else was perfect and fantastic quality! I would highly recommend! This is one of the best afternoon teas I've ever had, I've been to loads of expensive places in central London but this one was the best for only £11!



About half an hour from the Center of London, near the train station, good transport. Room has UK electric plugs, reception had adapters free to borrow. Room had many towels, shower gel, shampoo, hairdryer, nice flat tv, tea and coffee, water heater. Breakfast was great. Its not for the view, window faced a brick wall. Tesco and other shops was right next door.

We got a voucher for afternoon tea off Groupon. It was much better than we expected - so much yummy food to eat that we ended up taking two boxes home. The fresh fruit was also a lovely treat. I would recommend the hot chocolate. We will be booking this again!

"Terrible customer service and breakfast"


On arrival, they take a deposit. Telling your customers you don't trust them and you need to hold some money as securiy is getting off to a bad start. Then they take a photo of your passport.. IDENTITY FRAUD ALERT. IDENTITY FRAUD ALERT IDENTITY FRAUD ALERT IDENTITY FRAUD ALERT In 20 years of hotels, this is the least hospitable welcome received, therefore one star. Also the "bacon" isn't bacon. It's some sort of disgusting square processed meat that again is nothing like what people expect as an accepted norm. Deviate from the customers expected norm by a wide margin, get one star. About the only redeeming features are that it's cheap, near a train station and handy for cheap food at the local Wetherspoons.

"Great Staff, Sooo hot"


The Greater London hotel is supported and run by a very competent, friendly staff team. The rooms are mostly well proportioned. There are two things that let the place down....maintenance and heating control. Dripping showers and ridiculously hot rooms in the summer don't help. Spend some money to get water temperature balanced and some aircon fitted.

"Hidden treasure "


We went here as part of a groupon deal and wasn't sure what to expect the photos looked lovely but you never know. This hotel is on a busy road with other local shops but as you walk in to a lovely reception area with a beautiful chandelier it's like something else! We were given an upgrade to room 101 which looks like a family room with 2 double beds a lovely spacious shower. generally very clean and nice decor and the bed was so comfortable had a great nights sleep! There is a kettle and tea coffee making facilities as well. We got afternoon tea with our deal we were asked what time we wanted it and when we arrived for it we were asked to choose what sandwiches we wanted and then it was brought out with the teas and toasted tea cake and scone with cream AMAZING!! the breakfast the next morning was also lovely and even though there wasn't bacon it was still lovely! The only thing I would moan about is the water in the shower wasn't very hot

"Clean, tidy and good location for visiting central London"


There are 3 Best Westerns in the Ilford area, all within a minutes walk of each other. We had booked a family room in the Argyle Road property as it seemed to be on a quiet residential street. We had a call from the hotel on the afternoon of our arrival asking for our ETA which we thought was very efficient and courteous. However, upon arrival, there wasn't a parking space available and the room had been taken out of service due to flooding, all of which they failed to mention when they called asking for an ETA. We were therefore moved to the Best Western, 2 minutes away on Cranbrook Road which was in the middle of all the shops. We had to park in what I assume was a family members Turkish Restaurant car park although the night manager did move our car for us that night. We were given room 301 which had 2 double beds but was way up in the attic space. As a consequence, the room was unbearably hot and despite having 2 fans (one of which was our own) not much sleep was had that first night. We did ask to move rooms the following morning and after packing up our suit case and sight seeing for the day, the staff had moved our things to room 104. It was a smaller room but much cooler. Our own fan did manage to disappear during the room transition, probably because it was much better than the one the hotel provided. A very efficient manager did manage to locate it though on the morning of departure having found it's way into another guests room. In summary, A potential "Fawlty Towers experience" was rescued by very efficient and courteous staff. Good breakfasts and location relative to all the sights of London. And at an amazing price.



Stayed here for a few days per week for several months. The Pros: - staff are really lovely - good value - near the station - there's a big park just up the road. However, the Hotel is a conversion job and the building can't take the volume of traffic, stairs a floors groan when people walk along, doors clap. Really annoying when you're trying to sleep. External noise can also be a problem, depending on which room you get. Actually doesn't matter which room, traffic noise at front, other noise at side. No air conditioning, so you have to have window opened. The worst thing is the other guests. Especially at this time of year when they are tourists. They tramp along the corridors noisily (and see above), engage in loud conversations, play loud music, reenact the Long March in their rooms, at any time up to and including 03:00 am. The worst part is setting off the fire alarms at all hours, presumably because they don't understand that the hotel is nonsmoking. The breakfast is good apart from the idiosyncratic refusal to serve bacon. Also no one could tell me what the sausages were made of, despite my asking. Would probably use again, but not at tourist rates.

"Great Hotel!"


This is a great little hotel. Easy access to the TFL rail station. Little mall right down the street. Room was clean and comfortable. Staff was courteous and helpful. The pictures of the hotel are accurate. Breakfast was awesome! We stayed five nights and had excellent maid service each day.

"Centrally located in Town Centre"


We stayed for 5 nights in mid May 2016 in a double room. Walking distance to the train station. Surrounded by shops. Not far from the Ilford exchange. Room clean, bed comfortable. Hot pressurized showers. Bed comfortable. Room a bit small. With a couple of luggages there is just enough room to move around but adequate for 2 people. Staff are all pleasant and helpful. Continental and hot breakfasts plenty but not the tastiest esp the turkey rashers. No bacon rashers unfortunately.



I hated this hotel! There is no parking so ended up over the road and had to pay which was not on the website. The room had a sloping roof I was so uncomfortable as it was cramped. The bathroom was also tiny. There is no room service so I can only comment on the breakfast which was a disgrace. The sausague was indescribable. Safe to say I won't be returning.

"Afternoon Tea"


We had a Groupon voucher, but even without, it's only £9.99 for two people to have afternoon tea. The cake stands were beautiful, the coffee house is beautiful, and the food was delicious. You choose your sandwiches from the menu, and they bring them up on the stand with gorgeous little cakes and tarts, and lovely fresh fruit, and then they bring out scones and toasted teacakes. We've posted the photos on Facebook and already our friends are arranging dates with us as they want to go. So we will be going back very soon!

We stayed at this hotel for 6 nights ( 06-01-2016 till 06-08-2016) in room 107 ! The room was very good , small but ok for 2 persons , it was also very clean , housekeeping dId good job ! The breakfast also good ! The only problem was the trasportation to the center , there is a station 2 minutes walk from hotel but you need an hour to go to the center with the train/underground and 2 hours with the bus , its better to try different hotel if you are tourist who want to explore central london , othervise get an oyster card and get ready for waiting and different routings among the underground! The staff was helpfull and specifically Dimitrius help us with some usefull informations , many thanks ! I reccomend this hotel for sure !

"London Break."


This hotel is in a splendid location, it is a short walk away from the train station that will take you to for example Liverpool Street Station with access to the tube system that is surprisingly easy to follow. This hotel is surrounded by restaurants and shops. The staff are friendly and helpful, our room was very clean and nicely furbished, with tea and coffee making faclilties. We stayed in room number 201, which is situated at the front of the hotel if you prefer the window open when you sleep, be prepared to hear the traffic outside with some loud passers by. We stayed here an extra night at last minute and the staff were nice enough to keep us in the same room at a reasonable price with breakfast. Breakfast was included in our stay. We stayed here for 3 nights in the end and ate breakfast once during our stay, the cooked breakfast is delicious with choices of cereals, fruit and yogurts with fresh juice and water. Breakfast can be busy, so there maybe a wait for a table, although on our last morning in the hotel there wasn't any where to sit, regards to there being folded up tables and chairs stacked in the corner...but this didn't really bother us because we just wanted to get back home early. Great value (for London). Lovely rooms, nice breakfast with a choice. I noticed that they do offer a nice afternoon tea.Lifts and stairs to rooms with Wi-Fi included. Near reception is a stand offering percentage discounts to popular resorts and attractions in London. We cannot comment on the car parking situations as we travelled to London via train from Wolverhampton, we figured this would be easier then becoming lost around London and its outskirts.

"Newly refurbished, shame about some of the staff."


The hotel has been recently decorated and that shows throughout. However there are a few issues, including some staff members and our room. There's also no parking but the other Best Western around the corner allowed us to park there for free. This only happened because we went to the incorrect hotel at first. Our hotel didn't even ask about our vehicle. The receptionist welcomed us with a very curt "yes", and after we explained we were staying there the conversation didn't get much better than a "sign here". She looked annoyed and showed no people skills. We encountered her again when our key stopped working and she was on her mobile, she didn't end her conversation just took the key, activated it and I left. The night receptionists were much nicer, smiled and spoke to us when we returned after being out. The room was small but clean, with all the basics you'd expect. The only complaint is that the bed ran along the window so every time you turned you caught the curtains. Also the windows opened really wide at the bed level so you couldn't have the window open at night in case you knocked it open and a limb ended out the window (this actually happened!), so not safe if you have children. Breakfast was ok, with the standard available, tea, coffee, orange juice etc. It's directly on the main road and because we had a room at this side it was noisy. This place is good for a base after a night out etc, but not great if you have to spend a little more time there, for example if you have children.

The staff are absolutely phenomenal and were extremely helpful. We had an amazing time in what was a very clean facility. The food was delicious to boot; will definitely be visiting again! The only thing that is difficult is parking.

"Not for alone lady traveller"


Cannot comment on room or facilities but did not feel safe at all when driving up to hotel. Rang hotel to ask where car park was and I was told there isn't one close so I put a request in to the hotel thAt while it was still light could I be escorted back over the next morning due to 6am start and they couldn't help so I had no alternative to book another hotel last minute. The area isn't great and was even approached by a person knocking on my car window begging.hotel backs onto a back alley with a lot of undesirables knocking about which I would have to cross to get to hotel entrance at front. Again loan female traveller with laptop/ case I wouldn't recommend especially if arriving at night or leaving early morning.

"cheap place in London"


we had a family funeral to go to and therefore wanted a good cheap place to stay in the hotel receptionist was polite and pleasant ,the room was great with good wifi facilities. the only criticism was that the bathroom bins were not cleaned out and was a bit disappointing to see sanitary wear in the bin.also the bed was too firm. the breakfast was however good value and coffee was good if the cleaning had been done properly I would have been quite happy and been satisfied with £50 inclusive of breakfast per night

"worst best western we have used"


Room small but clean, broken shower which we manafed with; biggest downside was the lack of sound proofing in the rooms. We could hear the gentleman in the next room coughing and was woken in the early hours by someone having sex, not good. The breakfast was halal with no pork but on booking we were not made aware of this; turkey rashers and fried chicken is not part of an english breakfast and the sausage was indescribable. Have stayed in a lot of best western hotels but woulx not return here. We checked out after one night losing the second night which was prepaid.

The Best Western Garrett London hotel in Ilford, is just two minutes walk from Ilford station. Very relaxing, good quality food and drinks, served by very polite and courteous waitresses. Would highly recommend this venue to everyone.

"General overnight review"


Well presented on Ilford High Street. Room, Bed and Breakfast good. Hotel does not have its own restaurant but there are very good restaurants out on the high street. I ate in the Turkish one opposite the hotel - very good. Would stay at the hotel again, especially if not travelling by car. Only down side is that the hotel does not have a car park and street car parking is difficult thanks to Yellow Lines. There is a local multi storey car park though. The hotel is only a few minutes from the London Underground.

"Friendly and discreet town escape"


This was a delightful little hotel I found in Ilford. Perfect to commute to Central London so as to avoid the harsh rates. If you're travelling light for pleasure and don't have demanding requirements, this hotel is for you. It's clean, it's friendly, it's quiet even though it's right in the middle of town with a shopping center, about 2 minutes walk from the overground.

"It was good."


We booked 2 rooms.The rooms were average sizes and were comfortable, had a nice big tv. Loved the breakfast buffet, a lot to choose from so enjoyed it very much. The hotel was quite close to the Ilford train station so was very ideal to travel with luggage. Overall, a good experience.

"Great for a business trip"


Stayed for 3 nights on business and checked-in very late. There was a warm welcome which made a good impression after long hours of travel. Very helpful staff, decent breakfast, clean yet small room, free WiFi, close to train station. Not suitable for families, but good for a budget trip with great value for money.

"Good but small"


Good, but rooms are very small, after Belgium hotel and service it was two times smaller and without window, but anyway we came there from Stansted airport at 3am so we don't care about anything just wanted to sleep and in the morning to get breakfast, and we got it actually English breakfast+ pancakes/ muffins and many other things that was really delicious and my husband was as always happy because to go in the morning searching for a place it's a bad idea ) Thanks for hospitality

"Really not a 4 star hotel as they think it is."


Arrived late afternoon to be met with a receptionist that spoke broken English. Got our room sorted which was 303, opened the door to a furnace (the outside air temperature was 10c). The window was open and the radiator was off and it was still unbearably hot. Also unrelated the clock didn't work. So back downstairs. Given another room, this time 207 which was a triple room. Walked in and it was still too hot but not as bad. The internet did not work either. With a bit of asking with the reception we managed to acquire a fan which made it barely manageable. Bed as comfortable, shower only had scalding hot and freezing cold as options and it kept fluctuating from one to the other. Breakfast was average (No bacon, why?) and it served fairly quick although there are not many tables so you may not be able to sit to eat. Overall a 2 star hotel and was priced far too high for what you get.15 Minutes was Liverpool Street by train.



Hotels location is good for corporate people. I didn't like area due to parking issue and didn't feel safe walking on streets because of type of people living in this area. I wouldn't recommend it for families at all. Staff of hotel was very helpful and polite. Beds were not comfortable and there is no air conditioning in hotel. I didn't have a good night sleep during my stay. In total its a high street budget B&B.

"Remarkable little hotel"


This hotel is snuck into a shopping parade and you could easily miss it. I stayed there because they had a very good weekend rate that was about £40/night less than everywhere else. It is very near to Ilford tube which was handy for central London.

"Greater London Hotel - A great place to stay"


The Greater London is an excellent hotel providing excellent service at booking in, breakfast and departure. The hotel has recently been refurbished to a high standard, the accommodation is small but presented very well and a jolly good breakfast was provided. The location of the hotel was found to be convenient when attending the Olympic Park and not too far from central London. if required a jolly good meal can be taken at the Turkish restaurant across the road .

Stayed in this hotel Wednesday 23rd September.Unbelievably clean,and finished to a very high standard.Centrally located,with many nice restaurants nearby. Special mention to owner/manager Salim,and receptionist Nelly,who were both extremely pleasant and helpful... We will be back!!

The hotel was excellent. Staff were very friendly and helpful. There were aspects of the stay which were exceptional including: excellent breakfast, fast wifi, customer service. I will definitely return for another stay in the future

"Not the Best"


We stayed at this hotel one evening.On arriving from a 3 hour car journey, were not made to feel welcome by the stressed unfriendly receptionist.There were complimentary soft drinks on the reception counter which we helped ourselves to while she had a very awkward costumer service phone call.We were lucky to secure parking space.The rooms were clean and basic.The shower room jn the family room was compact with a very slow draining small sink.Breakfast was OK, seating closely in back to back rows felt cramped and lacking in personal space. Sufficient for a one night stop with no frills.
