First time staying for a friend's birthday event. Glad of the security gate as the area seemed a little remote. Plenty of carpark space on a Saturday evening, hotel barely used by the looks on arrival. A little tired, but functional. No one at reception so we had to call a mobile to get someone to check us in. Junior suite was very large, massive bed, jacuzzzi bath and shower, his n her sink, but no espresso machine as advertised. Did have water and crisps left out though (randomly). Party in the function room was fine, good bar staff and quick service, but prices were high. We skipped breakfast (friend who stayed reported it was pretty grim). Overall did exactly what it said on the tin, cheap, functional and convenient.
Great reception room, friendly staff, can't make any statements about the rooms. I was at a Wake. Even had a substantial refund on the the bar-tap. Which was enlighten first, never known or heard of reimbursement like mine beforehand, excellent.
We had our wedding reception in The Thurrock Hotel and it was great. Trish, Kirsty, Donna and all the staff were great from starting planning all the way to the end of the big day. We liked the venue because our guests were able to stay the night before and after. Location is very good because it's near the main roads. The food and drink was excellent. The hotel will hold a special place in our hearts forever.
We can't thank Trisha and the Thurrock hotel enough for what they did for my wife's 60th birthday. Trisha and her team went above and beyond to make this such a special evening, all family and friends commented how lovely the hotel was. Thank you Trisha
I used the Thurrock Hotel for a wedding party and I totally loved the decision to do so. Trisha was very helpful from the start to the end of the event. The team behind the bar were flexible and supportive. Having access to the garden was super! The garden gave the little children freedom to run around and be relaxed. We really enjoyed using this venue for our event and will patronise again! When we needed rooms at the last minute for makeup artists and guests, the team on ground were able to support us immediately.
The best experience we have had for a long time in a hotel, from the moment we arrived to the cleanliness and friendliness of the staff and the food was amazing. We would definitely return to this hotel if we were in this area in the future. Haven't stopped talking about this to our friends and family.
I attended a function at the hotel. Check in was quick and very helpful. Throughout the stay all staff were so friendly, engaging and helpful. The room was very comfortable and clean. I would certainly stay here again. Thank you..................... . .
Terrible place avoid it. Run down food not good staff sometimes rude. Vans broken into over night. Lots of stairs no lift. No pool tables small bar area lots of conference meetings going on and very noisy if wedding party's are going on. Wait ages for help at reception desk
2 of us planned to stay at this hotel for 2 nights 5-7 July. However we left after the first night. We stayed in room 202 and I was severely bitten during the night. See photos attached. We tried to call reception in the morning to report this however no one was available and we had a wedding to go to. On our return in the afternoon we spoke to reception and the manager Kim Jackson. I showed the receptionist the bites on my arm and then we spoke to Kim who I also showed the bites to. We did not want to stay another night in these conditions so they refunded the first night. The following day my bites were swollen, blistered and infected. I had to find an out of hour pharmacist on a Sunday evening who prescribed me antibiotics. I have since complained to Best Western and emailed the manager requesting compensation, see email receipts attached. I have asked them several times to confirm the phone number on which they will be calling me from and have been ignored. They have stated “We will of course compensate you for the night spent where this happened. Please could you send me your phone number so that I can phone you tomorrow and we will come to an agreement and we pride ourselves on going above and beyond for our guests.” They have not compensated me. They have not put the customer first and have lied about compensation. I have never experienced insect bites whilst staying in a hotel which evidences poor hygiene and low cleanliness standards. They claim to have used a sensor to check for bed bugs and also claimed to have outsourced a pest control company. I will never stay in a Best Western hotel again after this experience. I am sharing my experience so others do not have to go through the same experience as I have.
Nice comfortable and nicely situated. Paid for breakfast which was non existent until 7:30! Spoilt an otherwise enjoyable experience
Staff are pretty much racists, no questions asked whatsoever, just downright racists. They kicked out three young boys at three in the morning. They were in an Uber on their way home when the Queen Elizabeth Bridge closed; many other people, including the three boys, went to book a room and were told it was sold out - fair enough. They had nowhere else to go and sat quietly in the lobby. After some time, they were asked to leave. - Leave to go where? There was nowhere to go at three in the morning - they tried to explain the situation but were told that if they didn't leave, they would call security to remove them. I find this totally and utterly disgusting. The Uber driver did the right thing by dropping them there, and a whole big X%%^& Western, The Thurrock Hotel, kicked them out. Thank God for Premier Inn Lakeside. They walked over there, and the staff looked after them as they understood what happened at the bridge. They kept them safe till morning when they could return home. Thank you, Premier Inn. We really appreciate your help supporting the boys.
Came to the hotel to attend a soul music event. Had a great night event rooms were good and the bars though busy were well staffed and never had to wait to long. After had a great night sleep and the breakfast was far better than I expected it to be. Overall great value for money
I celebrated my mums birthday in the garden room at Thurrock Hotel early on this month and I have to say the staff were superb. Everyone we were in contact with went over and beyond to ensure the day was successful. A special shout out to Trisha, who ensured the place was set up according to how we wanted it to be, she was ever so sweet, friendly and without her the day wouldn't have ran as smoothly as it did - she is really a great asset to the hotel. The 3 course meal was fantastic, tasted amazing and was of a very generous size. The staff communicated with us numerous times ahead of the day to ensure we were comfortable with the arrangements, the seating plans, the catering, layout of the day and when to cut the cake etc. I would highly recommend and definitely use Thurrock hotel for any future events. Not only is this my point of view but also of the guests that attended the birthday party - not a single fault was found using Thurrock hotel. Thank you for a great party and once again a massive shout out to your fantastic staff they are all amazing.
I stayed at this hotel as my usual hotel was fully booked. I was greeted with a very warm receptionist who ensured I had everything I needed. My room was on the first floor (no lift) and I got completely lost until a guest helped me. My room was a suite. Very dated but spacious. Jacuzzi bath. Not that it bothered me much but you could hear people walking around above. Parking was limited due to a number of white vans and being generally busy. Not my first choice but it did the job.
Stayed here on a work trip, we had a bunch of cars, and the staff were very helpful regarding the parking, the hotel was very secure with gated parking. The staff were great here, shout out to the lovely Kirsty. Breakfast was very good, nice selection. Vending machine sold snacks and of course you could get evening meals. All round very good stay here, thank you!
Easily reached from the M25 and just a few minutes drive from Lakeside Shopping Centre. Chafford Hundred Railway Station is only a 5 minute drive/20 minute walk away, with frequent trains to Southend and Central London. Ample parking at the hotel, with fast easy check in and friendly, helpful staff. Room was clean and comfortable with plenty of space. Bathroom was clean, with a good powerful shower. The on-site bar is pleasant with a good range of drinks. The restaurant also serves delicious meals. Breakfast is also very nice and comprises of a help yourself cold offering (cereals, fruit, yoghurt) and a hot buffet of quality items, served by staff. A great stay, will definitely be back soon. Special mention to Duty Manager Donna, who was always very friendly and helpful and very hard working.
Friendly and welcoming staff. Helpful throughout my stay. Fantastic facilities. Room was in accumulate condition. Food also was fantastic and very tasty. Really enjoyed my stay at the Thurrock hotel. Would highly recommend staying there.
Attended a family birthday event at the hotel. Room for event was great and ideal for size of party. Well decorated and provisioned. Safe parking and clean exactly what you want. Staff were friendly and efficient. Great atmosphere. Would recommend
The room was a great size for our family event. The decor was lovely. The staff were very helpful and friendly. A good variety of food and drinks. It has a good location, and easy to find. The toilets were clean and so was the rest of the hotel that I saw.
Good location and a large bedroom, but the room was quite cold, until I put the curtains up on the the window sill. The bar isn't well stocked, no cider, no IPA, no Rioja..... Breakfast was nice but not very hot, I had a burger for dinner which was very good though.
Hotel was spacious, quiet and clean. All staff I spoke to were super friendly, efficient and welcoming. I would definitely stay there again. Tip - pay for breakfast the evening before as it's saves a fiver and for £9.50 it was great value. Thanks
What can I say! On entrance to the best western Thurrock hotel I was greeted by the lovely Donna & Kirsty who advised us to go to the Hollywood Bowling. When we got back the bar was still open only to be greeted with smiling faces by Donna & Kirsty. Who are a credit to your hotel. If we are back in the area again we will be back.
Fantastic value for money. The hotel was really busy due to a event that I was attending but the staff were always available, attentive and friendly from the receptionist to the bar staff The Rooms were very clean and warm. The function rooms were also well presented with a great selection of drinks behind the bar.
This place is a hidden gem! Right around the corner from the m25 bridge & lakeside. The staff are so helpful and lovely and always there to accommodate your every need. No job is too big for the Thurrock Hotel. And I would recommend for anyone to stay here. Ps try the Thurrock Burger!
One of the most fowl places I have ever stayed. I have no massive expectations nor a clean freak, I have spent most of my career surrounded by refuse..... I would be more comfortable sleeping in a bin. This.. place. SMELLS ! absolutely fowl depending which part of the building either damp, musty/mold or drains. I asked to be moved from room 200 somethings and was moved into the bridal suite.. If I had a bride with me, id be divorced by morning!! Mold and damp again.. bed.. well its seem some use!! Its as shaped like a hammock and has all the support of a damp biscuit . Massive cracks in the grout in the bathroom carpets looked like they've been pulled out the local recycling center or a crime scene prop. There is 0 money spent on upkeep. I stay in hotels for work regularly up and down the country.. at midnight I threw the card behind the desk on my way out and paid £100 out my own pocket to get out of there.. Will be bleaching this phone after writing the review.. You may be lucky I only experienced 2 rooms of the cesspit. But the Bog stench Thurrock hotel... is one to avoid. I would of slept in the car or rough.. 3 showers later I still feel dirty
We attending on 10th December with 120 members from National Autistic Society Thurrock Branch for breakfast, the hotel were very accommodating and great value for money. Staff were willing to help Thank You from all of us
We visit Thurrock 2 or 3 times a year and normally stay at The Travelodge. As this was a short notice visit I was not willing to pay the price quoted by Travelodge and found this hotel instead. Not only was it much cheaper, the room was larger, the beds were wider, the car park was much bigger and it was quieter too. We will stay here again.
Staff were friendly and hotel had everyt you would need. Clean and organised facilities. Very enjoyable stay and would certainly recommend. Entrance to hotel is a bit shabby but drive through car park and your surprised what lies ahead
Although near the M25 it's amazing how your garden brings some tranquillity to the area your in .. certainly relaxing .. rooms of a lvl I can also relax in .. showers great .. breakfast of a high standard.. love them .. xxx
Old and tired and in need of major upgrade, potholed entrance drive and notices all over the car park warning you not to leave any valuables or belongings in you vehicle.Really felt quite intimidated by the whole experience. Given a room over the ballroom where there was a function ongoing, the room was big and reasonably clean apart from the mould on the ceilings in the living area and bathroom. The floorboards creaked and the same with the room above ,so badly that at one point during the night you would have sworn that someone was in the room with you !, The noise from the function was deafening and despite assurances from the receptionist that it would be over soon it continued with a bass beat so prevalent that the room itself was reverberating I asked again at 10.30 how much longer and someone took the initiative and switched it off. However that wasn't the end of the disturbed night, our room overlooked the entrance and people were outside congregating smoking ,talking loudly on their mobiles and the caterers where loading all the pots pans etc until after 1.00 am Breakfast was however very good and served politely and promptly
Cannot really say much was only there 5 hours but it was clean and comfortable apart from the idiot above us sounded like a dog was playing with ball all night . parking was easy and security cameras
Contractors BEWARE!!! don't be tempted by the keen nightly rates at this hotel, As it is notorious for work vans break ins mine was broken into 9pm in the evening and the staff were as rude as you will get and the security is brutal... 3k later I have my van repaired that was opened like a tin of tuna.. so that 50 pounds stay wasn't so cheap.. To be honest rude lady on checkin bar staff don't want to work and the food I won't even go there... Worst in the UK
Generally not bad but room for improvement. Had noisy neighbours, broken door lock, a private function left no parking for guests until they left at 11.30 pm. Both lagers in bar were flat. Overall good but think I was a bit unlucky. Staff were brilliant though.
Clean basic accommodation close to M25. Very friendly staff. Good traditional English breakfast. No light switch by bed which is unusual. Booking.com message and hotel email and website all incorrect messages. All said no dinner Friday to Sunday. But on arrival they said "if you hurry, you will catch dinner". But we had eaten at Burgerking on motorway. We would have used restaurant. Please change misleading email message. Also confusion when booking breakfast. We paid on arrival Saturday evening for breakfast on Sunday AM. But message not passed to breakfast staff. They said it was booked for Saturday! Before we arrived! Nice staff but lack of detail by management. General carpets all a bit jaded.
NO LIFT NO ELEVATOR !!!!!!!!! This hotel is not suitable for anyone with a disability - there is NO LIFT. When we made our reservation by phone, my partner was very clear that we needed a disability accessible room. At no point were we told the entire hotel lacks a lift and that there were no bedrooms on the ground floor. Considering the size of the hotel, and its branding as a Best Western, this is simply astonishing. We had to check out and leave as my disabled husband could not use the stairs. The embarassment and stress of the situation was awful, and we missed the annual regimental dinner we had expected to attend at the hotel.
Surprisingly quiet given the locality of business. The reception staff was very welcoming and helpful. Room was clean spacious had all the essential needed for an overnight. The bed is always comfortable with a few minute walk to breakfast we were happy with our flying visit to a family function a few minutes drive.
We stayed New Year's Eve at the hotel , friendly staff on arrival , we were on the top floor so lots of stairs & no lift , first impression room looked tired but bed was comfy , room clean , hot shower & clean towels , room was nice & warm , quiet , good breakfast in the morning , again nice friendly staff . Good location for Lakeside etc . I would stay again .
We stayed overnight for this soul festival. The hotel room was clean and comfortable. Staff were welcoming and friendly. In fact one staff member made my sister and I a coffee as the machine was closed. Wonderful, helpful man. Sadly the music didn't live up to it's promise of 'Soul music', so would put our family off attending again. One point the hotel should note was that the soap dispensers were empty all night in the ladies loos.
We stayed over night as we went to the soul music. Night. That was cool . Lots of people attending. our room was OK. Shower bit cold though. We had breakfast. It was packed out. Only one waiting staff girl Who was very slow. We saw one lady chef. The breakfast was lovely. Great sausages too. But you need more staff. And also more gritt in the car park as very slippery because of the snow
Best thing about this hotel was the breakfast. We had a triple room with one bed being an actual mattress on the floor. The bathroom was freezing cold and we couldn't get a bath because there was no hot water despite 2 visits from maintenance. Thank god we was only there one night and as a side note somebody needs to teach the dj about actual soul music
Having read through the negative reviews I can well believe em. Issues we encountered whilst staying at this hotel, we initially contacted Customer Services of the Best Western Group itself. They advised us to contact the hotel directly, which we did, they were not interested in the slightest. They blatantly ignored some of the issues that were raised. We did raise one issue whilst staying there but the list grew. 1. Kept awake the entire stay, you can actually hear folk in other rooms walking about above you all times of night, early hours and the morning. Noise level poor. 2. Couldnt get shower to work. Reported to reception, heard nothing further in the day, so couldnt use it. Husband couldnt use bath due to mobility issues. 3. Filthy bath fittings. Photos sent to hotel. 3. Workman staying at hotel sitting around outside entrance smoking and being crude. Advised to hotel. 4. Request for tea & coffee replenishment went unanswered during our stay. Was never replenished. Advised to hotel. Lot of doors banging early morning, noise levels not good. Breakfast buffet, food good. Service poor. One staff member. Such a shame as this used to be a lovely known hotel in Thurrock. An embarrasment to the Best Western group. Use your cash and book elsewhere, plenty of hotels around the Lakeside area. In my opinion we should have been given a part refund. We were given nothing.
The hotel is in a good position for Lakeside and is very quiet. The reception is large and kept well. You have to phone to get the attention who is just in the room behind the reception desk. The room was large and the bed was comfortable. Unfortunately there appeared to be a problem with drainage. There was a strong smell of bleach in our room but by morning this had cleared and there was a very strong smell of sewerage. We reported this to the receptionist on leaving along with the fact that a small spring had come out of the shower and the water was boiling as it could not be regulated, She told us to email the manager. Which I have done twice with no reply. The hotel does have a restaurant but I had an email to,say it doesn't open at the weekend.
As you enter through the double doors, it is not the staffs friendliness that hits you first it is the overwhelming stench of damp dirty mops. That's the only thing we could put it down to as the carpeted area did not smell as bad. When you venture into the bar the smell intensifies into eggs mixed with a dirty mop. The staff are friendly and helpful and have more than likely become nose blind.
We came first week of October, room ok, squeaking floorboards though. Sunday morning breakfast was strange (lovely food) but no waiting staff, it became very busy then two ladies appeared, one chef and one receptionist trying their best to do everything. I think the Management should get more staff.
After complaining on the day to a member of staff then emailing the manager of the hotel. I have heard nothing. You made my mothers wake so stressful, it was very badly unorganised and I didn't need the lack of care that you gave. You told me you would get back to me over 5 weeks ago and I've heard nothing. I've emailed you again nearly 10 days ago to find out why it went so wrong and nothing again. I can't believe it should take 7 weeks to find out why things kept going wrong. Your hotel is lovely and the staff on the day were so lovely and apologetic but your follow up is terrible. I wouldnt recommend you to anyone which is a shame
Staff here are very nice and polite and will help where possible however it is not suited for the disabled or mobility issues. After a very good checkin I then had to struggle to climb 23 steps to my first floor room . I was so nervous. In the quite big room there are no grab rails in the toilet or a raised toilet seat. I had to sit on the loo sideways so I could use the sink to hoist myself up. I spent the whole stay in my room and had room service for dinner .In the morning hubby took bags to the car then came to help me down the stairs for breakfast . Very nice in there. Continental self service but hot is served at a counter by the staff . Was very nice !! Very covid safe too . Best Western sort the disabled facilities out!!!!!
Great stay at this hotel. You can here the traffic when outside but it is not that distracting. Attended a wedding their and the room looked stunning and the staff and services was excellent. Rooms very big compared to others I have stayed in and very comfortable. Great space to get ready for wedding. Highly recommend this venue and services.
We needed a hotel room for three of us whilst attending a funeral. Another hotel chain don't allow older teenage children to stay in a family room and we really wanted a room that would sleep three, rather than to have to book a seperate room for our son. The triple room was superb - it was a large room with plenty of space for three. The rooms have no air con but with all three of our windows open and the supplied fan on the room was a comfortable temperature for sleep. Beds were really comfortable and we all slept well. Good sized bathroom with clean shower with adequate water pressure and good temperature control. We didn't have breakfast so cannot comment. Large car park; very convenient for the M25, A13 and A1306 as well as access to Corbets Tay etc via Aveley village. Road noise is a distant hum with the windows open and was in no way bothersome. Staff pleasant and able to help when we needed them. Check in quick and easy; check out simple, Don't recall there being a lift at the hotel, which did not bother us, but may be an issue for others.
We booked in for an overnight stay on the 20th August. We was on our way to book in when we received a phone call informing us that Booking dot com had overbooked the hotel and they didn't have a room for us. We contacted booking who rang the hotel and they then blamed their own website. I don't think they expected us to take the matter further. Well who wouldn't when you've been treated in such a bad manner. I can't say what the hotel is like as we never stepped foot inside the establishment. It may be very nice. As there was no apology, only an abrupt phone call we wouldn't even consider using Best Western again. I think this is a fair review considering how appalling we have been treated today.
If in this area, I heartily encourage all that need a good place to stay to do so in no other place. This is a singularly wonderful hotel with a most exceptional staff having unequaled service. Whatever we required they provided inordinately fast with the best of attitudes.
The Hotel check in was quick and easy, staff very friendly and helpful. Adequate parking available, good location for what we neeeded for a days at brands hatch race circuit. The breakfast was great value for money
Once again Best Western not doing themselves proud here and it's seems to be a regular occurrence with them can't remember that last good one .. Iam not sure what's going on with this place but my room wasn't great and very hot due to poor circulation and window restricted opening room 207. Website does show better rooms so they are obviously saved for people having weddings and not given to contractors who are still paying good money . Stayed in brand new hotel for £70 a night . Suppose it will reflect the area which is very industrial bit rundown so usually reflects the custom but it's generally all a bit miserable inside and out dark and dingy and generally depressing . Breakfast was ok can't complain fresh and hot and staff all really friendly .. Wouldn't be my first choice and probably want come back .
Hotel staff nice. Rooms are nice depending which one you get. No house keeping still so you have to ask for clean towels etc. Breakfast is average but if you get there after the rush, tables not cleaned. My main concern is that vehicles (especially work vans) are being broken into frequently. I know this from experience and talking to residents. There is also broken window glass peppered around the car park, even next to reception main doors. Surely it would be beneficial to hire security.
Stayed at the hotel for an event. Easy to get to and find. Was pleasantly suprised at the overall hotel, grounds and the room provided. Very comfortable rooms and generous bed sizes. Very clean and well kept room. Staff were excellent and the breakfast was well prepared and served (mushrooms to die for!) Excellent value for money and happily recommend a stay.
We stayed in GW in Thurrock last weekend as it was a convenient and very reasonably priced hotel for RHCP concert at the London Stadium. It was exactly what we needed! Spacious and clean rooms, comfy bed, nice bathroom, tea coffee facilities and iron with an ironing board! Downstairs bar had good drinks selection and more importantly a lovely outdoor area to have a drink in the sun. The highlight of the hotel is the breakfast. At £8 pp we had a full English breakfast with unlimited choices, tea, coffee, juices etc! It was a bargain and it was delicious!! The staff were super friendly, hardworking and accommodating. Great customer service! Would not hesitate to stay there again if in the area. Well done GW Thurrock.
We stayed at this place along with family and friends for our daughter & son in laws wedding , the morning of wedding the room was not ready for bride and bridesmaids to get ready ,The garden was a mess the water fountain was not working properly and water was green sticks and other stuff in water, some guests on arrival waiting ages to get served in the bar as one person covering reception and bar, fans in rooms not working or some not having any at all, No one around to usher guests around into venues,The wrong starters was issued to everyone or some did not get starter,A kids meal was issued to an adultThe manageress was very rude, interrupting a guest while he was eating breakfast,There was not enough bar staff we had to ask for more from other bar and there's 2 bars but same drinks in each bar different prices. The photographer she was amazing she sorted a lot out which should of been done by hotel staff. This place needs to sort their wedding planning out
Staff helpful, clean room. Hotel needs updating. Some very tatty areas. Extra bed broken and not fit for purpose. Son had to sleep on floor. Only one staff at breakfast who worked very hard but obvious need for more staff. Attended a function in hotel which was very well run and served.
I recently stayed at this chain of Best Western over the weekend for work just for one night. When booking, I didn't look at the reviews which I normally do but the location was ideal for me so went ahead and booked it anyway. I really can't believe all the negative reviews about this Hotel. When I arrived I was greeted by a lovely friendly lady on reception who checked me in very swiftly. On entering my room I was amazed how big it was, with a decent sized walk in shower, desk and chair, separate lounge chair, tea and coffee facilities, iron, large TV with freeview and a large comfy bed. Immaculately clean both in the room and Hotel. I didn't really explore the Hotel but it seems like it has plenty of separate entertainment rooms for meetings, weddings etc. The bar area isn't the biggest but you could spill over to the restaurant area if it was busy. Not the best choice of lagers on tap so just had the one. To be honest I was really surprised how quiet it was being a Saturday night. I think there was more staff than guests. Didn't eat in the Hotel so can't comment on any elements of the food. Free WiFi throughout the Hotel which worked very well indeed. Had a great nights sleep, didn't hear another guest although you can hear the M25 nearby but really didn't bother me. Plenty of parking around the Hotel. Says there is a £3 charge per night but didn't have to pay when I checked out. The overall appearance of the Hotel is good but some parts do look a bit dated but all in all I would probably stay here again if I was in the area. Excellent staff, large comfy rooms, free parking, decent WIFi and great value for money.
We booked a meeting room for 16 people for a whole day, and were delighted at how well were were hosted. Tea and coffee were replenished regularly without needing to ask, and served with welcome snacks. The cooked lunch was good too. Even though they were hosting a wedding reception on that day, we were well looked after throughout, and there were always staff at hand. The meeting room had a good screen and plenty of power points around the boardroom table for all the laptop users. Our thanks to all at the Thurrock Hotel, we would definitely use again.
First time at this hotel which was a one night stay with my wife. The welcome at reception was lovely and genuinely friendly. The hotel entrance and foyer was nice rather than spectacular, but we were blown away by our room which was the Townsend Suite. It was like a penthouse American apartment with every angle covered including, fridge, safe, iron & board, hairdryer, whirlpool bath, multi point hydro shower, tv with adjustable mount that made it viewable whilst in the bath etc etc. I could go on and on but this room for the price was amazing. It was also beautifully presented and very clean. What stopped the hotel getting a 5 star rating was the bizarre situation at breakfast: the entire dining room had been commandeered by a religious congregation. So approximately 100 people had turned their chairs to face the breakfast buffet counter at the front of the room. A religious preacher had their back against the breakfast counter and had a microphone attached to large portable speakers and was shouting, wailing and crying to the congregation in an unknown language. When I stepped into the dining room and made to approach the breakfast counter, I was stared at with disgust, frowns and multiple head shakes from the congregation. I immediately went to reception to ask what was going on and the poor girl there was very embarrassed. She said this group were a regular occurrence at the hotel, but weren't allowed or supposed to be doing their activity as they were right then in the dining room. So I bit the bullet and went to the breakfast bar quite literally having to shoulder the still wailing preacher out of the way to the aghast of her congregation. The lads behind the counter who served me my breakfast were as embarrassed as the receptionist and acknowledged there was no where for me or my wife to sit and eat. So my wife and I had to carry our food through to the bar and squat at a low table to consume our food. This situation was so ridiculous that on reflection now it was almost comical. But in reality our breakfast was ruined, the coffee machine had been drained by the congregation so no hot drinks and we rushed our food selection to get out of the way of us effectively gate crashing what had been turned into a stage; so we didn't get the choices we really wanted. This faction/group need a good dressing down by hotel management as there were other guests simply too upset to approach the breakfast counter.
The hotel seems to be mainly for commercial workers. The bar/restaurant is very quiet and the breakfast room is empty by about 8.30/9 am. The rooms are really good though and our executive room was large and very comfortable. Our only minor 'complaint' was the lighting was very poor, to find something in the wardrobe in the evening we had to use the torch on our phone.
Friendly staff in the restaurant. We booked a family room. The single bed was comfy but the double was not. Bedding was clean and comfy. Windows need work, they were drafty and let in noise from the M25. The shower did not drain and this was reported. Hopefully sorted before the next people stay. Bathroom door creaked. Free tea and coffee on tap as well as apple and orange. Why no china at breakfast though. Breakfast was hot and as much as you could eat. Parking was good and free Wi-Fi was a bonus and it was plenty fast enough. We would stay again.
Very loud first thing in the morning on a Sunday isn't always the best, very creaky floors we were on the 1st floor and there was so much noise from upstairs thats enough to put me off staying again!! Parking was good and could come and go as you please, if your going to try then try and get the top floor away from the front/entrance.
Currently staying at this hotel on business in the Townsend suite for two nights. On entrance everything is spotless as the receptionist was lovely and exceptionally polite friendly and informative . On walking through the hotel and to my room I did notice some parts of the carpet are a little thread bare but I certainly got the “wow” factor when I finally opened the door it was like I'd walked into a 5 star hotel !! There was a little problem with my room key card so the maintenance man had to be called to fix it which he promptly did but wow wow wow when I got in!!! The Townsend suite is lovely absolutely beautiful Infact and it was obvious that housekeeping take pride in their work as it has been exceptionally well cleaned to the highest of standards. The suite is spacious with more than enough tea, coffee, hot chocolate bottles of water and even a couple of packets of crisps which I must admit was lovely after a 4.5 hour drive to get here!! There is a tv, sound system, alarm clock and also an iron and ironing board in the wardrobe plus a safe and fridge too. The bathroom has a beautiful powerful shower and an added bonus of a jacuzzi bath too! The suite is massive too ..,,.so much room which was lovely. If i could pick any faults at all at anything it would be the fact there are no plugs by the bed to charge phones on an evening and you have to get up to turn one of the many lights off In the room and when ordering room service no table to eat at. Ordered room service the first evening which was prompt and the steak was beautiful and the waffles even better. I decided to go down to the bar/restaurant on my second evening and ordered the cheeseburger with bacon there was a little mix up with my order and it hadn't been processed and took much longer than expected to get my food but I understand these things can happen from time to time but the girl behind the bar could not have been apologetic enough so it was all sorted and the burger was good although have to say nowhere near as good as the steak the previous evening!! All in all it's been a great stay here on business and the staff are fantastic and very helpful an asset to the hotel in my opinion. I can not comment on standard accommodation but this suite certainly has the wow factor such a pity I was on business really!! I will definitely be booking this accommodation when I'm next in the area and certainly recommending it to friends and work colleagues too. Thanks for a lovely stay!
We held our vow renewal at this venue, the staff could not help us enough, they were amazing all evening and again for the breakfast which was great. The bridal suite was lovely, so clean and refreshing. Cannot recommend this hotel enough
Excellent value for money. All the staff were really helpful, especially Daniel. The breakfast is exceptional. We stayed for a 50 th party and every one had a great time. The bar service and restaurants were fast and friendly.
We have hosted both our wedding and a 50th birthday party this year, whilst the rooms are slowly being renovated, the staff are absolutely amazing, the manager, the bar staff and Mel are all a pleasure to deal with. Our families who also stayed for the events had great feedback also. I will most definitely be hosting another special birthday very soon. I would highly recommend. Tanya & Alex Strand
You are probably ok during the week, but unfortunately I stayed at the weekend when there was a wedding on. The noise resonated pretty badly through the room until the early hours keeping me up. Also not sure if this may have been confined to just my room as it was slightly smaller as a single, but whenever the neighbouring room turned on the tap during the night the noise was pretty loud and enough to wake me up. The parking isn't free as suggested either. Guy on reception was nice though.
I booked a room, just for the one night, for my husband as he had to visit his brother in Basildon Hospital. He was very pleasantly surprised to be upgraded to the NewBridge Suite a lovely large room and it had a jacuzzi bath. In the morning he went for breakfast and when he asked for scrambled egg and the chef went off and made some fresh for him. Only one problem and that is it is difficult to phone the hotel and speak so somebody direct and on arrival (and for bar service) you have to phone and somebody comes to see you, a slight problem if you don't have a mobile phone. Despite that small problem it was a very good stay and we will certainly come back.
Stayed here for a wedding and was disappointed. My 2 daughters, with their partners and 2 young children each, both had a bed missing and had to ask for the extra 1 put in the room. 1 of their rooms had a half eaten apple behind the bedside unit with ants round it. After complaining they were told it would be reported to the housekeeping team. Nobody came to clean it up. The rooms smelt, mine being 1 of them that smelt of drains. There was a crack across the bathroom window that didn't shut properly because of the way it had been put in. (The tiles surrounding the window had been cut away to slot the handles into). The sinks in the toilets leading off from the wedding venue, were so high, I could hardly reach up to wash my hands, so a child couldn't reach. And because it was so high the water splashed over the sink onto the floor which was soaked and dangerous. The dryer didn't work either. The bar prices are extortionate so take plenty of money. Some guests were charged £3 for parking but they advertise as free parking on their website. The name should be changed to Worst Western Hotels as there isn't anything best about it.
Stay here quite frequently never had any issues except today at 7am maintenance doing a room setting off fire alarm so woke my 2 year old as thought was a problem so went to leave room it stopped so was ok got back into bed went off again so called reception when we were told was them…. Luckily my son fell back to sleep but not sure why done so early… other than that can't fault the hotel great location to stay fantastic helpful staff and close to m25 A13 and lakeside. Get what pay for as not in hotel only there for night so no problems
We had booked a family room (2adults 2 children) so we'd requested a z-bed months before. The hotel team hadn't been told and this wasn't available so had a very hot sticky night with child in with us. Was a poor nights sleep also due to another party having a drunken argument in the carpark (which I realise no fault of hotel) but you can hear everything outside from the rooms. Bedside Lamps in the room would've been something helpful too. Had to turn main lights off and find way to bed without stubbing toes. Very grateful for fan in room as we would've baked. On a positive note, the breakfast was lovely and plenty of choice.
It was explained to me that there had been rooms allocated to people in care of community one of which was in residence above us .. who proceeded in keeping us awake all night but banging there floor ...if we would have known who were staying we would have looked elsewhere the room was filthy ..no phone .no fan .1 pillow each & 1 set of towels for two people
We stayed for a recent family wedding and unfortunately bar the wedding the stay was awful and more like a trip to fawlty towers than a 3 star hotel. The poor gentleman working on reception (Who was great by the way) seemed to also be the barman, repair man etc... On our first night there was a leak in one of the rooms and meant the fire alarms went off all night until they could be isolated. Therefor an awful night sleep. In addition the restaurant wasn't open and simply told to order takeaway... The wedding was great and staff brilliant however on our last morning they had no bacon for breakfast. Never experienced this ever in any hotel or b&b I've ever stayed in. On leaving we saw a Premier Inn not 5 mins away so if you do attend a wedding here (Which as I say was great) I would stay elsewhere
I stayed here with my daughter at the weekend and we had a great break. All the staff we met were very helpful and friendly. The whole hotel was very clean, and our room was great. It was so big, my daughter was very happy. The breakfast was lovely, lots of choices, and nothing was too much trouble for the lady chef. Would definitely recommend and will 100% come back again in the future.
I had my wedding here and it was the best choice I made. The management were beyond helpful and friendly. Mel was Amazing every step off the way planning my day. The food was perfect! The rooms did need updating, however we all slept like a baby. Very friendly staff.
Currently staying here & I have to say if you see a member of staff, you're lucky!! The bloke working behind the bar thinks he can tell people to wear a mask when he has no idea if their exempt or not, which I am! You have to download the god awful app to order & pay for drinks, if he can bothered to go to the bar and get your drinks you'll be lucky, twice so far we've had to chase him up for him to shrug his shoulders & say he's busy. Really? Doing what? We've only booked over night as we have a family party to go to, believe me we won't be coming back. The lack of staff, the attitude of some that you do see is shocking. Best Western you need to do some in house training I'm afraid, I'm not the first person to complain about the attitudes here from what I've read.
Very disappointed.Would never stay here again.Stains on walls.Cobwebs.Something brown on toilet door!! TV bad reception so couldn't watch anything properly.Window wouldn't shut fully so noisy.Carpet not hovered.Staff overworked
Richard the night manager was extremely helpful in a time of real need going further than the port of call to provide great customer service. Which is one of the reasons I stay here every week. Richard is a credit to the Thurrock hotel!
My stay at the hotel was so satisfactory that I almost forgot I was not in my house. Every experience was pleasant and I will always go back whenever I am in the area. The food for the room service and breakfast was brilliant coupled with overall cleanliness.
All covid rules were strictly adhered to and respected by the hotel and staff. The night manager on the front desk (Richard?) was extremely helpful and very well mannered young man. He was quick to assist in very polite when approached with some additional needs I had. Nice to have a gentleman representing the company. The room was very fresh, clean, amazing value for money ! Overall very happy, thank you.
Felt uncomfortable with his attitude! Obviously shows favouritism to certain customers! Obviously I didn't fit the colour ! Room was terrible , then changed to a better room more for my colleague than me ( I was offered her old room she complained about ! ) will not be going back there in the future
Stayed here 4 times recently. Great staff. Great room service. Great food. Car park hand and safe. Easy access and to find. In these odd times this has been the best stay anywhere. You can book in and not go looking for food.
Smokey rooms, smokey pillows, alarms went off 3 times in the night. No lifts so did 3 flights of stairs with pram, suitcase & baby in tow. Dated interior. Best Western standards very shoddy here. No wonder its dead at weekends & only full of construction workers during the week (staffs words not ours!). Its cheap for a reason! We did refer our complaints to staff, who were apologetic but offered nothing but apologies (wish I could have paid with an apology as it's worth nothing!), no compensation or gesture of good will for being woken 3 times in the night by hotel alarms going off with our baby & having to stay in a smokey room with smokey bedding. We stay in hotels probably 30+ nights a year & previously in Best Western hotels elsewhere (Newmarket, Derbyshire etc). Our business is obviously of little value as you can see by their response to our very poor experience! Disappointing & will be their loss! Theres a lot more rooms available in different hotels than there are guests to fill them! Remember that when your hotel closes, or your Group goes into administration! Dont moan, your competitors are looking after their guests & value them, that's why they will survive!
After reading a few reviews of people saying you get what you pay for (as its a cheap stay) but honestly I've stayed in over 200 hotels in the last few years and for the price you pay.. the service is higher than superb standards. The rooms are very clean. The staff are absolutely amazing and even though the parking is £3.00 per night you pay in the hotel so its not like you need change for a machine. All in all I will defo recommend this hotel. And I will be coming back again. Thank you. I had to check out early due to a family issue however I was offered an upgrade on my next stay which I didn't even ask for. So thank you I will most defo be taking up your offer :) superb hotel. Thank you again.
Car parking was £3. Not bad compared to most places. Only £35 for the night was a bargain. Room was satisfactory. Warm, quiet despite being next to the M25. Clean. Comfortable bed and hot water. Everything you need. Only criticism is staff at check in could have been friendlier and more welcoming. I called ahead with an enquiry and the weren't helpful either. All in all though I'd definitely stay again.
The value for this hotel is great: 30 quid for a nights stay, shower gel etc provided and staff were very helpful and friendly. Things that need attention are decor is a little tired in places, my room didn't have a hairdryer, the shower wasn't brilliant, no music channel that I could see and the sockets could do with being USB compatible. Just in comparison but what do you want for 30 quid and a struggling sector. Otherwise a very enjoyable stay and very well kept. Just some attention to detail needed. Will definitely stay again.
Wonderful room, Bed very comfortable Although the hotel is close to the M25 it was very quiet All the staff where very helpful especial the manager who was on duty during our stay we will be going back to stay in a couple of weeks
Excellent service from Kirsty in the restaurant in fact all the staff were excellent would recommend to anyone to stay here the rooms are clean and comfortable i stayed for 3 nights and thoroughly enjoyed myself it was good to come back from work and relax in a great atmosphere
Just wanted to say what great service was received from the guy at reception when checking in at around 2.15 on Friday 24th July 2020. We were having trouble confirming our booking online and he helped resolve this
This is a lovely hotel with lovely staff. I would definitely stay again. Attention to detail could be a little better ie changing light bulbs sweeping the entrance. This could be an absolutely fabulous hotel with just the smallest amount of attenion
Checked in quickly and staff were pleasant. Room was clean. Richard went over and above what was expected. Excellent quality in the customer service from the night manager Rich. He made our stay going the extra mile. 100% would stay again given the quality of customer attention we got, as outlined above.
Stayed for 2 nights didn't get much sleep on both nights first problem was the mattress it was rock hard and bowed in the middle!! Second problem was the loud music coming from downstairs on a Wednesday night!! When I phoned down to ask how long it was going to go on for I was told 12am and that they would ask the DJ/singer to turn the bass down!! It was literally vibrating our room! We wasn't warned about the music. The floor boards are very noisy you could hear next door walking around their room...!! We paid £112 for the 2 nights I definitely wouldn't pay to stay there again!!
This was our second stay at this hotel in the same executive room 231,which is clean and very spacious. Once again the food was very good, enjoyed the breakfast and the staff especially Molly, who again was so helpful and friendly, made us feel very welcome, an asset to the hotel, this is becoming our favorite place to stay when on the way home to clacton on sea after visiting my parents in London, looking forward to next time.
Stayed at this hotel for 1 night. Was quite easy to find off the M25.Free car park was useful. Hotel very clean. Near motorway but noise was not to bad. Near to shops if you are driving. Staff friendly and welcoming. Ordered room service, didn't have fish but ordered a burger which was lovely Hotel room clean and spacious. No fridge in our room which was a shame and shower cubicle very small Overall our stay was good and would recommend a stay here.
I booked the Newbridge suite for me and my partner to stay over on Valentine's Day (evening) We checked in at around 5pm We were greeted by a lovely friendly lady at reception, she was fully attentive and gave us all the information we needed. We walked up to our room, the hallways were a little tired but when we got to our room it was like being in a 5 star hotel! If you wanted to be picky you Could mention a few missed details like a bit of limescale or a missed hair, but for the price of this room I would never dream of moaning about that! Fully stocked tea and coffee facilities, a queen size comfy bed, toiletries and a hydro bath, ironing board and iron fresh Towels Heating....room service was lovely to come up with a bottle opener on request. A big telly and loads of space. We had dinner in the restaurant, omg! The food was delicious! We were served by a lovely young lady Teeghan? She was friendly and helpful and joined in with my humour, the gentleman that came out to ask if our meal was ok was friendly and helpful too. I had the burger and homemade fat chips omg! They were BANGING! Beautiful! Couldn't fault a thing, my husbands steak was cooked to perfection. Dining room was clean and grand. We slept like a king and queen, bed comfy! And black out curtains great! floorboards were creaky but I loved that, made it feel authentic, it's an old lady of a building with a new modern style. In the morning we had the full monty of a breakfast, it's a buffet style full English, but it was so fresh and tasty The chef was out as well as the lovely Teeghan, and the chef asked my husband if he wanted some fresh fried eggs! He was made up as they were so fresh and so perfectly cooked.the chef lady was so accommodating, and bought out sauces and asked if we needed anything. Breakfast was probably the best we've had in many a hotel. We called the manager over to give feedback, it was good to see him out at breakfast and being part of the team: I hope he thanked the team for our lovely experience. Breakfast had everything you needed, fresh tea and coffee , juice, bagels, toast fruit cereal and even had tolerant allergy food. Amazing stay, can't wait to come back. Thanks xx
Set just off the M25 can here the traffic sometimes. Stay here when working in area. Parking is good and you can get a big van in. Rooms fine and the food in the bar is good. Never had a problem here and the staff are friendly
Lovely clean and tidy room staff are pleasant and friendly in close proximity to lakeside Shopping centre and other parts really impressed good parking and pretty surroundings. Considering how close it is to the m25
Visited for a 1 night business stay. Price was very reasonable and close to Tilbury Docks. Roads around the hotel were a bit tricky to navigate. I did have to go around the roundabout twice. Also, it is easy to miss the hotel entrance. Parking was fine and check in was quick and handled really well. The room was very good, bathroom excellent but the TV remote did not work - Batteries flat and remote has a screw in the back of it to stop people removing the batteries. Evening meal was very good despite limited options. Likewise with the draught beers. Overall, if visiting the area again, I would stay here but I would say that it is not really a family place.
One night stay, location is good for M25, although hotel is not very easy to find. We had a lunchtime bar snack when we arrived, it was very enjoyable but accompanied by loud music in the bar, clearly for the benefit of the staff. The manager turned it down without being asked - he knew it was wrong. In the evening, we had a few drinks in the bar, a few unsavoury characters propping up the bar and butting in to our conversations did not help. Please show your staff how to pour Guinness properly, it is not difficult - surely they can see what they are serving does not look right? Attitude of staff not the best. Then there is the barrier to get past into and out of the car park - it was not working for anyone and nobody in the reception seemed to care. It is supposed to be a code to get out but that did not work and people had to wait until someone was entering - the barrier opens automatically on the way in. Room was nothing special and we did not appreciate the constant door slamming. Not recommended for a long stay, Probably more suited to conferences and weddings.
We booked the Library for my husband's 60th Birthday lunch. We had a fabulous time, as did our family and friends. Everything we had planned was in place,as arranged with the Events planner. The food was delicious and the service outstanding. Ours wasn't a big event in comparison to others, but we were made to feel that we mattered, right from the initial enquiry, up to and including the brilliant day we had there. Several of our guests stayed overnight at the hotel. Again, we couldn't have asked for more. From checking in with the pleasant and helpful reception staff to ckeckin out the following morning; every member of staff we encountered in reception, bar, waitresses and cleaning staff were extremely courteous. Unfortunately, we didn't get to see the chef and kitchen staff to compliment them on the excellent standard of food at the birthday lunch and also breakfast on the following morning. We are grateful that an important celebration was made so special.
I only had a one night stay but it was more than expected for the money. Our bedroom was massive the size of a big lounge. The reception staff very helpful and polite always willing to assist you with any information. The building as a good bar restaurant and location wise very close to the M25 so easy access to all the major routes. We had a problem with the TV but a very well presented and helpful general manager Dan came to our rescue. He couldn't make the TV work but he didn't give up he came back a short while later with a brand new TV which he fully installed. Well done Dan you are a champion and ambassador to customer service. I loved my stay I wish it could have been longer. Will I use this hotel again a most certainly yes whenever I am in that location I will ne booking in. Thanks to Dan and his team
Just attended an all inclusive party night must start by saying the staff worked extremely hard yes there's a but. There were nowhere near enough staff 3 bar staff for an event with over 250 people one poor lad behind the bar clearly hadn't been doing the job long and wasn't experienced enough to cope with the amount of people his employer should've realized this. Also when i booked clearly stated real ale was an all inclusive drink this wasn't on the list at the bar ,i had to speak to manager who confirmed real ale was included then the bar person had to go back to him to check poor organisation. I emailed food order in advance when i returned to my table on the night a bean burger had been left for me i checked my order and had ordered salmon again i queried this with the manager and was told that's all that's left you must've ordered it . Main course was good Chocolate brownie for desert were so cold it was like chewing rubber no staff about by this point I'd given up . My advice if you book this event stay at the table when food is being served because once it's put down the small number of staff are so busy they're off in a flash. Would've been nice to be offered the option of being seated where the dj is for after dinner as the other hall is just isolated from the rest of the party. Probably wouldn't use this venue again.
The hotel and staff were very accommodating of our group as we had 86 people attending breakfast and everyone enjoyed it. There was a full and varied choice of breakfast foods and special orders were catered for. Will be back next year.
Ws stayed here for a wedding and everything about the day was made special , the staff are really friendly and the hotel is very nice , our room was very big with a great bathroom . We slept really well
The food in the Restaurant is good and specially Zoe the waitress is nice and friendly. The hotel is clean. But unfortuanetly near by the hotel is not too much to see or to visit. The breakfast is also good.
I spent three weeks in this hotel so I know it well! Parking is good, with a barrier (not always in operation). Plenty of space and quite well lit. The staff overall were really helpful and friendly. Smiles and banter made me feel at home. Food was pretty good. I went through virtually the entire menu and enjoyed it all. Prices were reasonable. Zoe even took photos of the food so we knew what we were ordering :) Room was OK but a couple of us had issues with noises. Creaking floors and very loud cisterns woke us up at all hours. I was there in the winter so can't comment on AC. Biggest issue was being given meat sausage and when questioned they denied it and insisted it was veggie!? When I questioned it the next day and pointed out that my colleague had a meat sausage and it was EXACTLY the same, I was told the chef was doing a test and gave everyone veggie. Clearly not true and could have caused a dedicated veggie a big issue. If it wasn't for those issues it would have been 4 stars.
Location a bit remote with nothing to do within walking distance, would need transport. Door key cards stop working of you put them too close to a mobile phone. Good breakfast, large comfortable room, no mini bar.
I'm a business tourist. I always thought this location was a bit of a motel set-up at a glance, you know... pay now and go to bed - nothing else. I will certainly put this location on my radar for future regional visits. Molly, the reception attendant, was exceptional at making me feel valued and welcome, a level that I feel exceeded the expected value of my visit. The room was very spacious and very well equipped. Many restaurant options are available to those needing to have dinner and breakfast too. A great hotel, not to be ignored for a fleeting visit. Very happy with my stay. A very special thanks to Molly, again, for sorting out a room allocation issue. Top tip... speak nicely and they will do all they can to make everything better for you. Fantastic stay. Secondary, get the Best western account, you get much more bang for your buck this way.
The hotel was clean room was nice goodnight sleep a very good breakfast nice staff will be booking again very soon free parking is a great help good price bar has well nice not to get ripped off for drinks
We have been staying here once a year for about 15 years and it gets better every year. Great value for money. Many of the rooms have now been updated and are clean and very spacious. The staff here are so lovely, always friendly and helpful. Food is really tasty. Never had an issue in all the time of staying here.
I am here quite frequently, as local to where I work, rooms are clean and fresh, great breakfast, lots to choose from and hot, but recently not so good, you can't help yourself like before.(if you come down later ) they take it away, just as you go to help yourself!!!
Stayed here for one night on business. Nice room with comfy bed and good shower but no hair dryer in the room. Breakfast was in a poorly lit room and although good hot and cold choices, the hot stuff wasn't all hot.
I'm currently in room 147 which hums like crazy and there is a drip in the corner from time to time. The staff can't find another room for me because they are full so I'm doomed to a sleepless night I guess. Other than that, the hotel is basic but cheap (for a reason I guess), the food in the restaurant was good and so was the bar but at the end of the day, a good night's sleep is parmount and that won't happen in this room. How can they make such a room available. I'll not come back.
First problem : no restaurant for the evening. So we were obliged to go back out and find something (not welcome after a long drive in lousy weather) or order takeout (to eat in our room, or in the bar with blaring football on the TV). Next problem: the room. Our upgrade to a suite turned out not to be such a blessing. The shower unit was simply broken. Main shower head did not work (so just the flexible hand held thingy delivering water) and temperature adjustment completely broken. So one (scalding) temperature only. And the floor: all of the floorboards in the rooms and even the corridor squeak and creak badly. The person in the room directly above us spent an hour pacing his/her room and we heard every footstep. The room below us also subjected to the same from us. Staff were mixed. Theresa (reception) was wonderful. The bar guy really did not want to be there or serve us or speak to us or even acknowledge our presence. Only the cheap room rate mitigated a poor hotel in desperate need of improvement and investment.
It was cheap so we wasn't expecting much but we were pleasantly surprised. The hotel is very conveniently located just off the M25 and in a short distance to Lakeside shopping. Plenty of parking. The check in and welcome was warm and friendly and the staff were all very helpful and attentive. We didn't have an evening meal at the hotel but the food that was coming out looked pretty good. Beers in the bar are a little limited. Room was large, clean and comfortable. Got a good night sleep, you can hear the motorway a little but not as much as you'd expect. Shower was powerful and hot. Breakfast was good. Staff all lovely.
Best food ever. Service tops with helpful staff. Room outstanding. For a special day this was definitely the best choice. From the moment I walked through the door the events manager helped me with very good options.
It is an old hotel which has not been well maintained. Very steep stairs without lifts. They do not have trolleys to help you take your luggage up the stairs. They will not help you with your luggage either. They will only carry the lightest and expect you to carry the heavy ones up the stairs. I was directed to the wrong side of the hotel to carry my luggage up the stairs though they knew my room number. When we got up, I was then told to go down the stairs carrying my luggage and go up an another new flight of steep stairs. Their carpets are stained and the place is not neat. The heating in my room did not work and the noise from the truck will keep you up all night. When you experience this and you check out early they will refuse to refund your money to you. Referring to some fine print. I will avoid it even if it is given to me for free.
The hotel was great. Nothing too much to do. The breakfast had all you needed from cooked to cereal. Room service was on time. Staff was very polite and helpful. My daughters first impressions was that it was too posh for us. Will be going back soon.
I have stayed here many times , the rooms are clean and fresh set far enough away from the main road to not hear traffic a lovely setting . Best western have taken away some of the baths and replaced with showers which personally I don't like , tho understand why . Sadly on my last visit I chose to stay at the “royal hotel “ in Purfleet , which underlines the gulf in quality between these two establishments . .
Enjoyed our overnight stay at this hotel. Spacious room with nice modern bathroom - it was very warm though when we arrived. Food was excellent, both evening meal and breakfast, and the staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. Free parking too.
Our two night stay in this luxurious room was very nice the first night was a Saturday and I did have to use the earplugs provided but was not a problem. The afternoon tea was yummy and there was plenty of it. Our jacuzzi bath had black bits coming out of it but didn't leave it on for too long so that was a little disappointed but the room was beautiful so worth the money. Breakfast was nice and all staff where very pleasant so thank you to you all.
This is the 3rd time I have stayed at a best Western for an event and I can honestly say the problems are throughout this chain, they have no idea re customer service or quality of meals, there is no understanding of food allergies or choices ie vegan
Had stayed here years ago and it's improved greatly now best western have taken over. Staff were amazing, friendly and accommodating. Though they weren't too bad before. Rooms are clean and good sizes with comfy beds. Very affordable and family friendly. Really enjoyed our stay!
Room was too hot sweat was dripping off us Had to sleep on floor trying to get to coolest part. Had tiny poxy fan that did nothing. Flights of stairs not good with 3 young kids pram/ luggage When got outside next day our water bottle we had in room was warm like had been in microwave!! .
Staff really helpful and friendly, nothing is to much trouble for them. Room is large with a new shower room, TV and chair. Food is good but seems limited but that is due to me staying at the hotel for a few weeks with work. On Monday evening there was a party/event at the hotel, later in the evening/night there was a lot of younger people out side throwing stuff from a skip, screaming and shouting. several times during the event some one kicked my room door really hard. I called reception each time, Fire alarms were also set off, but what could they do only apologise. I found it quite intimidating. As I have said I've stayed here for the last 5 weeks and this was the only time i felt uncomfortable
Stayed at hotel as had a family evening wedding in avery room, the staff was amazing kirsty was very helpful and on hand, rooms were clean and spacious, clean towels, food was lovely, only problem they have is no downstairs rooms or lifts or chair lifts for disabled, two disabled bays only, plenty other parking and very close to lakeside, cheaper if u dont book direct but well worth the stay if you want to go shopping
I am checking out tomorrow and have stayed here for 2 nights, I was impressed on walking into reception, very smart and clean. The lady on reception called Robyn was very helpful, the room was nice and clean. The staff where really helpful, they answered all my questions. Room service was brilliant and fast, they also sorted out my breakfast so I can have it on the go as I have to leave before breakfast starts :) only downside is there is no lifts for anyone who can't do the stairs.
We had a function at the hotel on 07th September. Right from the booking of function to the actual day everything went very smoothly. We did have some issues with the guest room bookings but they were all sorted out promptly. My husband and I stayed in the Newbridge Suite which was a lovely large room with lovely bathroom (including spa bath) The bar staff on the night were lovely and very helpful, including sourcing high chairs for little ones. Everyone had great time and would def recommend. Special thanks to Trisha, Mel and I think a supervisor/manager who was hunting for a lost pair of shoes at 8am the next morning (which were found).
I booked for 2 nights ,Sunday 1st Sept and Monday 2nd of September. On arrival we were greeted by a very helpful lady on reception,I didn't get her name, but the greeting was friendly and cheerful. We were given all our room details and were given direction to our room, which was a standard double. On the reception desk was a notice about upgrading your room, which i read and thought about. Our the room was easy to find, and when we got inside we were happy with it.But I said to my wife let's spoil ourselves and upgrade. We went back to reception and upgraded, again the receptionist was more than helpful. After upgraded we settled for the evening and were very happy with the executive room.Breakfast the following morning was just as please experience as booking in.The lady dealing with breakfast,Kirsty I think, was happy pleasant and friendly. Thought out out short stay all the staff were helpful, please and friendly. We have already decided, and told the staff, when we stay in the area again we will be booking The Thurrock Hotel.
Our first room was okay, but after an unfortunately incident in our room and 6 hours in accident and emergency we phoned and asked for another room. The receptionist sounded like it was a hassle and said we couldn't move if we'd touched anything in the room as they were fully booked. We were moved and upgrade to a different room which was good...but it was after 1am when we got back to the hotel after our visit to a and e and all I wanted to do was sleep due to tiredness and pain medication. The hotel had kindly moved our bags to our new room which we were thankful for. The room was clean, quiet and nice bedding and towels. Richard the night manager was excellent as was the lady cooking breakfast who came out to check with us a dietary requirement. However, upon check out there was no manager to discuss the incident with, nor was there any apology from reception or even an asking of how we were despite it being the same person who checked us in the night before, who we told we've been advised to go to a and e by 111 and who we had spoken to on the phone regarding a different room. The management have been in touch via email and our incident but aspects of the customer experience across the hotel is not consistent with what we have come to expect from the BW brand. Unfortunately, our incident means I am unable to say this hotel is average or above. However, it's clean, breakfast is good, we slept well and had excellent service from 2 members of staff..so you might say it's actually good or even better. You decide.
My sons wedding was held here venue was lovely & so was the hotel & rooms Theresa on the reception desk is brilliant However staff very slow getting the food out the drinks from the bar are watered down noticed by a few people & I want to no when they paid £4000 for there wedding there that the staff seem fit to take unopen bottles of wine off the table when that's been paid for by the wedding couple in there package do the hotel use it again for the next wedding Our guest her hiding there's under the table very wrong they shouldn't touch anything till the end of the evening
We stayed at this hotel for a wedding reception and we found the hotel very clean, friendly and helpful staff, very big rooms, comfy beds, reasonably priced and easy to get to with plenty of parking. Our room was very big, clean and had a lovely new bathroom, everything in it you needed and comfortable bed, a fan, which we used as it was very hot. We left our windows open all night, as it is very near busy motorways you can hear the traffic but it's not noisy other than that.
We had our reception here on the 22nd August 2019 and I cannot fault any of the staff, each and every one of you were absolutely wonderful. When we were setting up the garden suite, nothing was too much trouble and everyone was so helpful-any thing we needed was provided. The service during the meal was spot on, the time between each course was just right, and once again nothing was a problem, or too much trouble and everyone felt comfortable to ask if we needed anything. I'd like to give you all a massive thank you for everything you did to help and make our day perfect! Anyone who is looking for a reception venue we would all Highly recommend the Thurrock Hotel!
Going on cruise from tilbury July 2019 so booked this hotel for the night before. I searched all hotels last November (as I like to plan ahead)but this one was a great price as they did a package for dinner(starter, main and dessert) bed and breakfast for 2 adults and my 15 year old daughter in same room for £121.00 roughly £40.00 each.On arrival Robyn on reception booked us in and was lovely confirming our package. The room was spacious, nicely decorated and had a fan. When we went for dinner and went to order we told Adrian about our package he said it only allowed for £20 each but our choices were over this cost and said we would have to pay the difference. I went to see Robyn explaining I booked direct over the phone and was told we could choose starter main and dessert anything on the menu and it was in the price.Robyn called the duty manager Kirsty whom said they had two promotions at the time and there must of been some confusion and she said any extra costs would be covered by the hotel. Adrian went above and beyond his duties to give such excellent service while we had our meal and drinks. Overall a great budget hotel that is clean and good service. A big thank you to all the staff but especially Robyn,Adrian and Kirsty. Will be back again
This is the 5th time I've used this hotel with my family We always have a comfortable checking inn every time stress free what is important to us especially if you're taking a break or holiday stay over. Dan the manager is very accommodating extremely helpful and always delivers the rooms we have stayed in are extremely very clean and well presented my Wife always prefers this hotel around the M25 first choice always i also have to agree with this that's why every opportunity we get were always coming back here. Once again Best Western hotel Thank you so much for your hotel experience enjoyed thoroughly throughout. Cheers Dan you managed this hotel extremely well thanks to all the staff for being quick and helpful.
We arrived at hotel and were pleasantly surprised by the size and comfort of the suite and happy to find a jacuzzi bath as well as a large shower. The bed was huge and very comfortable although I wish we had warning about traffic noise early morning (not a problem if windows shut)
I stayed here with my wife on a Monday night. The weather was hot. Our room did not have air conditioning. It didn't even have a fan. I asked reception for a fan. They told me all the fans had been taken. I should have popped to the shops at Lakeside to buy a fan but it was getting late. We tried to get to sleep in our room which had become an oven, even with the windows open. We woke up tired in the morning because of the poor night's sleep. On the plus side the staff are friendly and the freshly cooked breakfast was nice. This hotel is probably good in the winter time.
Absolute joke of a hotel. Had my van broken into right outside reception doors.they took over 4k of tools and the hotel manager couldnt give a flying duck!! Took him 3 days to look at cctv. Apparently its a hotspot 4 tool theift the locals say.i would never recommend a hard working tradesman ever stay their, period!!!
Upon entering the hotel I approached a young girl on reception who wasn't busy but seemed annoyed to have to check someone in! After I said hello and gave my name I was greeted with a simple “£126 to pay then” Nothing else, hotel reception staff customer service rating zero! I stayed in the newbridge suite as it seemed much roomier than a double. Worse ‘suite' in the world, shocked they can even call it that. It wasn't a hot day around 18-20degrees (before the manager replies with we are experiencing abnormally hot weather) yet the room was unbearably hot! Strangely so, all windows open it was still very uncomfortable. The shower temperature gage is broken so it jumps to scolding hot in 3 seconds with no variation, obviously known by the hotel as there are warning signs... yet obviously they don't want to fix this. It was impossible to get the shampoo out of my hair without getting third degree burns! Health and safety at its worst. The coffee machine in the room is broken, you can see it's been broken by supplying large cups for an espresso machine. As the front is hanging off it's clear the staff would know it's broken and choose to ignore it. All in all it's dated, smelly, over priced and run down. Don't bother staying.
Check in was fine, room was large and had everything we as a family of 3 needed. The main problem was the room was far too hot and had no air conditioning. I rung down to reception for a fan as it said to in the welcome booklet in the room. The girl on reception said she would have a look and get back to me. By 9.30pm no phone call and my son was felling unwell with the heat in the room. All windows were open which meant you could hear the M25 and with the heat and the road we struggled to sleep. I called reception again to be told I was on a long list of requests and she hadn't had chance to check yet!!! She would call me back. I'm still waiting for the call and the fan. Terrible nights sleep. We ate in the restaurant and the poor staff member was both on the bar, taking orders in the restaurant and then serving it. More staff needed especially when there was clearly a wedding party staying. Food was good and breakfast in the morning was good. Don't think I'd stay here again due to the poor sleep and lack of fan/air-con. Staff very friendly and helpful but clearly understaffed.
I was attending a workshop/conference, as we had been told we would be able to order lunch, well when we went to order , was then told there was not enough food, so we could not have lunch, there was no one the bar to get a soft drink. Since when did a hotel not have food, when they knew they was workshop/ conference happening, there was no staff, it was outrageous, we had all travel a long way, I would never recommend this hotel is anyone
We arrived lunchtime, checked in, took bags to room came back down and enquired about lunch, sorry but the chef isn't back until three! So we left to find somewhere to eat at Lakeside. It has been extremely hot and I asked for a fan for the room which was there when we got back but was useless in the heat because the windows only opened an inch or so , so no through breeze. Not a pleasant night. Breakfast was ok once we'd got it ( the hot food had been cleared and there was no sign of anyone, this being 0830) we had to ask reception what was going on... Lucky for us our stay included the breakfast so no worries. It appears they may have staff issues?
This hotel was completely miss sold and staff are rude, unhelpful and disrespectful. Breakfast is fowl with coffee machine and drinks dispenser unclean. Rooms are dark and smelly with the only one single plug in whole room.
Having stayed here before I thought I would enjoy the stay with my husband on our anniversary trip away. The staff on arrival on reception were brilliant and very friendly. The bed was very comfy and we enjoyed our nights sleep but that is where the ‘good' ends. One night we had dinner in the restaurant, the food was not good, pizza dough was raw and came with the wrong toppings. No service check and no staff in the restaurant to flag them down. They cleared our plates and I then told them the issues, she apologised and left. On return they removed the food from the bill but then took the Menus and no offer of desert or drinks was given (this was before 9pm). Customer service needs major improvement in that department as well as the cooking. The shower was also scalding hot, no cooler temperature so we were unable to shower. I reported this to reception on check out but I don't know if this will be fixed as it's an issue I've experienced before at this hotel and reported before, but seems to not get fixed!! Okay stay, but I won't be rushing back now.
Where to start - breakfast - poor choice , forever taking coffe machine and crumpets being loaded by barehanded waiter one by one onto serving trays . Dinner - im vegeterian so i was left with two options -mexican burito witch is as mexican and as burito as i am which is none at all , and pasta topped with parmesan wich is as vegeterian as steak .Room - after a run around i managed to get a fan - yuppie , room is so hot that i cant sleep . and a lovely coffe cup which never was wasched since i came here, and im staying for 2 weeks - scary , Today i was brave i taught that i order 6 sides there are on menu - pretty guaranteed they will be vegeterian to my suprise they served 7 including calamari and overcharged me by 5.50 - very nice . Hotel was decorated in the 80- ties i think and never changed since , dinner hall in brown and beige with no windows is very climatic - if you a caveman . the worst thing is im here till Friday . going for a cry now mister manager , and BTW i am a member of Best Western so thats probably a special treatment .Thomas
stayed here a few times now when visiting friends in Hornchurch. great location for lakeside Dartford crossing London links and surrounding areas, rooms large comfortable and very clean. Facilities are good. Bar friendly. large gin and £10.59 wow. Breakfast good
We had our wedding reception at The Best Wester Thurrock Hotel yesterday. From the day we went and booked the venue the service from the Team were excellent. We settled for the Platinum Choice on the menu and I can confirm that this was the best meal ever. The lamb was magnificent the starters were out of this world and by the time we got to the sweets it was a battle to eat it all. Such an array of fine tastes is exceptional. The staff went out of their way to serve us, smiles all over the entire day. It is not often that you get to stay at a place entertain your guests with such sheer perfection. This is a definate YES for A WEDDING VENUE! We stayed overnight lovely comfortable clean spacious room. Absolutely nothing to complain about and that does not often happen. This has to be a 10 out of day. Well done we will definately be back for more of the most delicious food ever! Thank you very much.
Our Third year at Thurrock and always spot on for us. Everything we've needed is provided and service is brilliant. In Particular Abbie was very helpful. This year spent an extra night and is always easy checking in and feel looked after. See you next year.
My daughter chose this hotel to hold her wedding reception May this year she booked her reception year in advance and was told that she would be giving a nice room if she chose to stay over night as she was the bride, she paid for the room and spent over £4,000 on the reception at the hotel when she arrived at the hotel a day of the reception she was given the keys to her room she was given the smallest room in the hotel obviously there had been a leak you could see where the ceiling had been patched up and the bathroom door would not close. During the evening she found out everybody else's room was bigger and better than her's at the end of the evening she went to her friend's room who had a room to himself they had the biggest room there was being as she was the Bride you would have thought the hotel would have made sure that her room would have been a nice one for her and he husband given all the money that she has spent with them I feel really sorry for her she's not the kind of person to complain she just got on with it but was really upset with the fact that she had been promised a nice room if she booked a room there overnight, a large number of family and friends booked here to stay over night and all had bigger and better rooms I would probably think twice about staying here again just for the simple fact they've told her one thing but gave her the complete opposite on a good note the wedding reception went well and the food was good but drinks a little pricey though.
A very big thank you to Robert and the staff at the hotel for making my daughters 16th party a night to remember. The function room and food was lovely, also thank you to DJ Ryan, and especially the bar staff who looked after us that night, you were fantastic.
Two night stay , didn't go entirely as planned , wedding party caused trouble by fighting and upsetting guests , staff however were nothing but professional on the handling of all this . Well done molly jones .
Check in was friendly, quick and professional. Family room we have booked was good size, comfortable bed, good size of bathroom. Shower was ok. Windows are problems and need to be replaced. We had pizza and fish and chips was bit overpriced but tasted ok. In general positive feedback, Not the best and not the worst hotel we have been.
Retreat just off M25. Very quiet. Lovely room, although bed very soft. A little frustrated no meal options on a Monday night. Had to pop out to eat. Great breakfast next morning. Great stop over for a shipping trip(Lakeside).
This hotel was good value in terms of the rate we paid. The staff were pleasant but there were too few of them around. The bar area was very dated and not enough comfortable seating. Sadly the food decidedly average.
Wasn't expecting too much from this hotel but the rooms were very clean, very spacious and good quality. Road noise may be an issue for some light sleepers... for me it was the ridiculous snoring from next door. Only mark down is for breakfast which was not bad (but nothing special). There was no human contact for breakfast either and not everything was available, had someone been there could have asked. Would book again though
My daughter and I stayed here so that we could go shopping at Lakeside. On arrival at check in we were told there was a wedding so we might hear some music but it would be finished by midnight. Our room was on the second floor and the wedding didn't actually bother us and we fell asleep ok. However at 2:30am we were woken by people returning to a room around the corner from ours and carrying on a party there. I tried ringing the 24 hour reception several time between 2:30 and 3am but there was no answer. We put up with it till 4:30am when I tried reception again and this time it was answered. The guy was apologetic blaming my missed calls earlier in the night on a leak and I did hear him come up and ask the people in the party room to be quiet. They eventually all left the party room at 5am which we were all too aware of from the very creaky floor boards right outside our room. I wish we had just driven up on the day to go shopping as the hotel experience meant we were both whacked the following day. It was supposed to be a nice treat before the start of my daughters exams. Wasn't even asked about our experience on check out.
Had a really good time celebrating mums 80th Birthday. The Murder Mystery Team were great - took the time to ask my mums name and making a fuss of her. Good fun and really enthusiastic team. The food was also nice and well served by friendly staff. Drinks at the bar were fairly priced. Would recommend this as something different to do for a celebration
We just recently stayed here for a quick trip to Bluewater shopping and some sightseeing in london. There was plenty of parking available and its location is great for Lakeside & bluewater shopping centres. The reception staff were very pleasant, we had booked a family room and it was spacious and clean. Breakfast was good but would advise going down earlier than we did to get fresher food. we went down about 9am but it felt like it may have been kept warm for a while. The only downside was that there was a wedding that night and although we were 2 floor above, we could still hear the music until about 11pm. But overall we were happy with what we got for the money. Would stay again!
Room size and quality were excellent, very handy for Rainham Marshes and Lakeside Shopping. with a regular bus service close to hotel. I had a problem with room , but this was sorted out immediately by Molly on reception
Hello people, went there for a business seminar for about a week. My room and the room of the seminar was very clean something very very important for me. Food was good and everyone there very friendly and polite. Molly at the reception was very polite to us all and Chris the duty manager was always there to help in anything we needed. Highly recomended
The hotel is sited next to the M25 motorway but far enough so that the traffic is not a big problem. Parking is very good with lots off space for works vans. Only used the bar area once for food at night - menu can be more appealing. Have breakfast 3 times the hot plate food has plenty to offer. Ordered Kippers and eggs to be cooked separate and the chief was outstanding on Friday - she is a keeper nothing to much trouble.
I was here for a birthday party. The place is amazing and it was super clean! We had a great time and Chris the duty manager made everything happened and set the room to our expectations(thank you man)! Recommend 100%
I went to a friend Birthday party couple of days ago. It's a nice place to throw a party. And Chris is a really good guy excellent service and well organized. All the best guys! i will arrange my birthday there.
Really enjoyed our stay rooms were clean bed was comfy bathrooms were nice and clean, staff were really welcoming and very helpful Breakfast was really good and the evening food was really good definitely would stay here again
I attended this hotel a few weeks ago for a Cheltenham preview night. I had never been here before, but was left very impressed by how friendly the staff were and how clean and organised the place was. I had a drink in the bar and a bite to eat before the event started. The evening was very well organised, we watched races on the big screen whilst a great panel of racing experts talked us through the horses chances. It was an intimate affair meaning we had the chance to talk to the panel and have photos taken. It was an extremely pleasant and well thought out evening, and although I live an hour away, I'd have no hesitation in attending another event here.
I have just returned from a 6 day trip to the UK where I stayed in this small hotel in Essex. I am a Hotel Manager myself and I can honestly say that this is one of the best hotels I ever stayed. The customer service is at very high levels and I witnessed many times the way the staff handles customer complaints and indeed this is 5 stars, easy. Both the senior as well as the junior management work extremely hard and for very long hours in order to ensure that every single customer is 100% satisfied. All the staff try their best to make sure you are well looked after. The cleanliness of the rooms is near perfection and also the person that stands out is Chris who seems to be there 24/7, making sure everything is in order. So take the advice of a professional, this is a hotel that offers excellent value for money.
I just returned from my holidays. It was really relaxing and enjoyable. The environment was really nice and all the staff was friendly and helpful. Particularly Chris was always keen to help. I highly recommend this place !!
First experience of a comedy night, did not really know what to expect, great value for £30pp. The beef and dessert was lovely, great service with friendly staff who could not do enough for us. Three comedians-all of whom were great, especially the last guy who had me crying with laughter! Bedroom was clean and bed was really comfortable. Breakfast was great with a lot to choose from. Would definitely recommend this hotel and the comedy night and attend a future event. Really enjoyed ourselves!
Stayed here last night Friday 1st March.and a lovely evening and must mention Donna behind the bar very nice friendly helpful lady.rooms were very tidy and a comfy bed.that much in fact I overslept for breakfast.i rang down to reception. And went for breakfast. Thank you to all the staff.expecially A charming and happy lady by the name of Wendy who could not of been more helpful many thanks Wendy.x
Attended a murder mystery in December . Don't really know what they were trying to achieve 3 people telling their story ,then coming around answering our questions job done. Myself and my group had been to other events in other hotels , where the actors sit with the guests and the whole night unfolds as if you are part of it. While one murder is being solved another takes place in front of you much much more real and also very well acted . As for the Thurrock one well again I don't know what they were trying to achieve. Other wise food and disco great
Upgraded room was excellent. TV, Radio and fireplace. Breakfast was excellent. Large cloice of food available. Cooked breakfast was very good. Hotel was clean and tide. Ideal location for Lakeside shopping. Quiet hotel. No outside traffic noise
Booked Sunday carvery (17Feb2019). Disappointed that carvery was not really a carvery to help yourself as we were the only two in the restaurant. Food served was served to us and I was shocked at the portion size - very small for a carvery. Beef was dry, as was the chicken which was difficult to cut and the food was cold. Definitely not worth the money. This building was originally a school, converted to a sport centre and then converted to a hotel. This was a visit down memory lane for me but it was a very disappointing restaurant visit.
My partner and I stayed at the best western for a quite belated valentines...on arrival the staff was polite and accommodating. Our room as we opened the door smelt absolutely beautiful...the decor was also very modern/antique...however complimented each other. Sadly there was a blood stain on our sheets. We addressed this issue to reception and was unable to get an upgrade due to the hotel being fully booked. However was given complimentary drinks and our bed sheets was changed. The young lady whom I recal was called Leah was very polite and accommodating. Leah promptly rectified our complaint and accompanied us with complimentary drinks. Her customer service skills were on point, polite helpful and accommodating. Leah later checked that everything was satisfactory there after, she had passed our complaint on to the manager whom I spoke to today in regards to this. The manager was very apologetic and offered us an exquisite complimentary stay, we have also booked again for a two night stay. My faith has totally been restored with this hotel and I would highly recommend friends and family to stay. I will be staying again and again. Thanks to Leah and the managerial staff of this establishment
We stayed at this hotel on Saturday and I was really pleasantly surprised. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the room was clean and accommodating. The breakfast was also delicious, so overall a very pleasant experience. Will definitely be back!
Nothing is too much trouble at this well run hotel, arrived late after a concert in London and received such a warm welcome from a friendly and professional team. Really nice bar area to enjoy a good choice of refreshments and delicious wine and hot chocolate, all served with a smile. Our room was perfect, nicely decorated, spotlessly clean, warm and comfortable. After a great nights sleep we enjoyed a well cooked breakfast with plenty of choice and attentive service. Would highly recommend and would not hesitate in staying here again, we actually didn't want to leave!!
I have been here for a few weeks on and off. I have to say that a few members of staff go above and beyond expectation and always make me feel so welcome. Cody, Louise Donna and Aalyah and Kirsty on the bar are brilliant, Liam on the kitchen always makes fantastic food and service with a smile. The manager Dan always makes sure we are good and well catered for. 10/10 would recommend
Nice place nice clean and tidy rooms with every thing we needed Donna and Liam was on the bar an was very polite and friendly and gave us great conversation for the evening. Will happily stay again ....
Hotel was freezing in our room and in main parts of the hotel too. The room the windows were so badly fitted a wind came through them. The phone didn't work in the room so made it harder to try and get help with cold room. It was so cold in the corridors and our friends all had freezing rooms too. Would never stay there again
Tidy room great bar staff Donna and Liam made are stay perfect making us welcome in the bar polite and friendly service and great conversation. Nice food and great value for money perfectly cooked ........
My first time visiting Thurrock hotel, it definitely won't be my last. Food was great, and the room was every penny. I was taken back by the most helpful staff, in particular Donna, who was happy to help with everything, she served with a smile, very friendly, and in my opinion she is a important member of staff as she was every where doing a great job. Employee of the month I think!
Stayed here for two nights. Family room was of a good size, however the furnishings need updated. The furniture had seen better days. The double bed was ok, although it did give me a back ache. The single bed mattress was so soft, not good to sleep on. Bathroom ok, although no blind on the window which was at the front of the hotel, overlooking the car park. So felt a little uneasy when using the bathroom at night with the light on as I am sure people could make out what you were doing. Also even though double glazed, there was lots of draughts coming through the windows. Clean but not overly clean, there was a lot of dust about and dirty marks. Very dissapointed with the breakfast, although a buffet style, did not really look that appealing. Hash browns were burnt on the second morning but were still put out for people to eat. Sausages were so greasy. The coffee very poor. Overall I really wasn't that happy eating anything. I opted for cereal which was just in boxes and some yoghurt as the jug the milk was in didn't look like it had been cleaned for ages, there was all dried milk under the spout. We was in there on a Sunday morning about 09.30 and we had been only the second family to eat in there. The staff were friendly enough. However, I wouldn't really want to stay here again. I really think the hotel needs updating and the breakfast needs re-thinking, probably need to be taking tips from the premier inn style breakfasts.
Cold and chaotic. We visited for a family celebration and found the bar services appalling. A new member of staff left un supervised in a badly stocked bar. She did her best, was very polite but had to keep running off for help. I tried to order a bottle of white wine , none available but could have a warm bottle on ice. Second wine choice non available, third even looking in the red wine rack was not available. 2 gins please. The function bar similar, hapless bar person, opened late, running around as the bar was not set up, no support from colleagues, male supervisor scurried in and out, after checking the bar persons drink, then vanished. Lack of glasses as all the tables where never cleared of glasses or dirty plates. When the other function staff had served the food , 2 efficient staff came in and sorted this out. It was hard work to spend money and get service. Kirsty served our first drinks professionally, nice and chatty. She was the star of the night but was very busy. Reception, room, food and breakfast all fine. the hotel was cold in the public areas and corridors.
My husband and I celebrated our Golden wedding anniversary at The Thurrock hotel. We only planned the dinner for 30 people with 3 weeks to go, but Robert (The Events guy) made sure everything worked out well. As we had friends and family coming to stay from quite a distance, we booked 8 rooms. It was cheaper to book the rooms through the internet than at the hotel itself for some reason. Our dinner guests had a choice of meal (pre-ordered ) I was able to take in my own flower arrangements for the tables and room. Breakfast the next day was buffet style, but as I wanted fried egg, not scrambled, it was prepared promptly. The bed was very comfortable. Our only grumble, was the floorboards were creaky and you could hear the water pipes from other rooms. The hotel is just a mile or so off of the A13 / Dartford tunnel / M25 / motorway junction so it was convenient for our friends travelling from Dorset, Devon, Lincolshire .
A lovely welcome by the receptionist, executive suite that did not fail , amenities but did not have any complimentary biscuits neither non gluten or GF. First night of my stay went too the bar and ordered food. Stated to the female Supervisor I was Coeliac.. her concerning comment “what's that”? As a supervisor I would expect a confident acknowledgment to recognise this disease, she did speak with the chef and my options of choice from the menu gluten free were given. Ordered the chicken, salad and chips with BBQ sauce.. suffered all night after eating a so called gluten free choice.. Went too the duty manager the following morning and requested the food allergen book, in all fairness she did show that the choices made where GF. I asked if they had trained the staff re cross contamination and explained that by a chef using a contaminated rings, scoop the implications of someone with Coeliac disease.. Recuperation of reputation: night after the deputy manager was on duty and everything seemed to be well organised and my disease was recognised. He acknowledged my complaint and assured me he would oversee my meal. His service was as expected in a person of his position, he did acknowledge that most of the staff are newish and definitely need training. My question to the hotel? Why not do the training during the induction period? Why wait l?changes too legislation re labelling of food etc was completed a couple of years ago yet apparent it is not being implemented with the training of old and new staff..
At the bar I spent a really good time chating with staff of the hottel and everyone was very helpful and frendly. Donna and David are just amazing had a really good laugh and enjoyed it allot. Will definitely refer enyone to visit this place to have wonderful time spent
Room was spacious, beds comfortable and breakfast was good. The room could do with a fresh coat of paint and the furniture was a bit wobbly. The water temp in the bathroom was either scalding hot or just extremely hot. The walls are thin! I could hear the tv in the room next door until past 1am and the Xmas party downstairs (I'm not a party pooper but when you're not at the party you don't want it to be so loud in your room). I wouldn't stay here again nor recommend it I'm afraid. It would be ok for 1 night if you were attending a function there.
Daniel and the team did a fantastic job today! Made us all feel welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Being a coeliac was not an issue, they had totally catered for everyone x Thsnk you do much fir s special morning xxxx
We has a wonderful morning at The Thurrock Hotels Breakfast with Santa, helpful staff and plenty of various food. The Santa took time to speak to every child and was great with our autistic children Thank you
Staff very friendly. Hotel and room recently renovated. Very clean and comfortable. Food in restaurant very good quality. Had quite a long wait for evening meal to arrive. Quality and range of food for breakfast was very good, although had to wait for certain items to be replenished. Overall, extremely pleased with our stay.
For less than £40 It would take something pretty drastic to complain. Even with that in mind my stay was rather pleasant. Everything you would expect from a middle of the road hotel. Free plentiful parking, swift and friendly checkin, sizeable comfortable room and late opening quiet bar. All this a stones through from the M25 and close to a village type high street with all your conveniences. If I was to say one bad thing, the windows are acoustically very poor. They didn't close properly and could do with some attention. I was tired so no issues but may be problematic for light sleepers being so close to the M25.
Superb experience as always a lovely time staff are always willing and helpful. The restaurant food is lovely with a nice choice with out being to much. I stay regularly at this hotel I have never had a bad experience.
Nice looking hotel on approach. Handy position just off motorway. Nice large room, but bed quite small for two. No heating on and no hot water in the morning. Breakfast average, staff very young and inexperienced. It is the sort of hotel you try once and only once. Cheapish at £70 for a double room with breakfast, byt compared to hotels I have stopped in, in Italy, very expensive. Not recommended I'm afraid, better Premier Inn close by.
As there was no reply to my formal complaint.. We were without hot water on night of a function which took 45mins to sort out only sufficient for one person to shower. Following morning... no hot water!!! Phone calls to reception ignored. Upon check out the young and inexperienced receptionist said this was because she herself was in the boiler room trying to solve the problem! UNACCEPTABLE treatment and use of staff. No management presence - avoid, avoid, avoid!!!!
Room and front of house team amazing ,especially David, Callum, Dee and Robyn, it was only there professionalism that stopped us leaving, we stayed for two nights, for business but the catering was abysmal, first evening we were given an extensive menu, once we chose we were told sorry the chef said we only have soup and roast ,as ' we have no food we need to go shopping tomorrow !!!! We opted for soup and roast as we travelled 4 hours, the soup was cold ,we sent back , the roast was left over from lunch was warm at best, we sent it back, we gave up and paid £5.20 for 2 packets of crisps and a bag of salted nuts, breakfast on both mornings even though the dining room was empty we had to ask for ,side plates for toast, tea bags, butter, cutlery, no cold meat, cheese,or pastries as advertised, dinner 2nd night, we both had pate to start which was nice, I then had 2 hairs in my main and my husband's chips were cold, we finally sent meals back and gave it up as a bad job, yes we were refunded but that is not the point, I feel so sorry for the front of house team, who try so hard, the catering team are letting the hotel down, do not recommend,
Just wanted to say another great stay, thank you Molly for the upgrade. I just love the place nice caring and friendly staff, easy to get to and parking is free, ideal for my business trip. I always call them first and they always manage to find me room make my stay enjoyable. The rooms are very nice and clean the new beds are so comfortable and large Samsung LCD screens. Also the breakfast food is quality and cooked prefect to my liking thank you Wendy.
We arrived at 4:40 approx. Our room was meant to be ready at 2. We arrived and waited 2 and a half hours for our room, then we finally got into the room and it was covered in flys!!!! The cleaner opened the window twice and let loads more in. And we still got charged full price!
We are visiting from Norfolk for some serious ore Christmas shopping and decided to stay overnight. The thurrock hotel is definitely worth a stay. The rooms are very clean, quiet and well equipped . The restaurant run by David and his team was a bonus. Always staying here
The restaurant run by David was excellent . An unexpected pleasure of lovely fresh food and very pleasant staff. The executive rooms are big with lovely spacious bathrooms. Easy parking and surprisingly quiet location to be so close to the motorway Thoroughly recommended
Stayed here as was attending a party in the garden suite. The main issue was spending 10 minutes trying to find someone so we could check in. The even seemed to go without a hitch. The bar staff were quick, however appeared a little inexperienced as to what drinks should be served with lime (corona) but I'll forgive that! The room was clean and tidy and a reasonable size. The water pressure seemed to come and go and took a long time until it run hot. The next morning I was woken by housekeeping knocking on doors shouting “housekeeping” at 8.30am and then kept awake by an abundance of slamming doors. No do not disturb signs available to hang on door. The kettle was faulty. After 10 minutes I realised the kettle was still boiling, creating a lot of steam and when I went to used it, I burnt my hand on the handle. But the room was quite cheap and good value for money
We have just celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary at the Thurrock hotel. We hired their Garden suite and had around 100 guests. I must say that the staff were very helpful, friendly and accommodating they helped make our party run smoothly and enjoyable. Their were a few ‘niggles' before hand but when mentioned the staff were supportive and dealt with them immediately. I would definitely recommend the Thurrock Hotel to anyone planning an event. The bedroom we had was lovely, clean and well kept.
Always welcomed at Thurrock hotel. I stay here most weeks for work and always get good service. A massive thankyou to Wendy for making me a butty and a brew after I missed breakfast! Much appreciated :)
