"very nice country hotel"

10/06/2018

a small country hotel, swiss style. stayed 5 nights, had very nice time. rooms clean and modern, although quite small. staff friendly, spa and swimming pool in basement. wondeful buffet breakfast. very good location for alsace lorraine wine route, as it is situated in the southern end of the route. all the beautiful towns, villages and castles in easy reach, at a distance of 50-100km. recommended, but obviouly a car is a must.

"A true welcome"

On arrival ,the receptionist was most welcoming and I didn't have to give my name. The room was newly refurbished and the bed gave an excellent night's sleep. The welcoming bottle of cremant was an advance on the usual pre-dinner glass.

"Nice Hotel, Great Eperience"

Upon arrival, we were both prompt and courteous checked in to our room. The room although small, but the good interior (just renovated). Nice bedding, good bathroom, and excellent strong free Wifi. Used their jacuzzi and pool in the basement. Might be small but nicely done and good for a swim or just to relax. Had lunch and dinner in their restaurant. Lunch was fine, but the waiter who served us a bit overpowering, be an individual knowing it all. During the dinner, we had an excellent meal and our table has been serviced by Ms. Binta, a wonderful young lady, very kind, professional and understands customer needs. On a final note, the breakfast buffet offered is excellent in choice and quality as well the wonderful service encountered at check out. We recommend the hotel to anyone, centrally located for a wonderful experience.

"Average hotel"

The staff in the hotel was friendly. Our room was nice and clean. The TV in the room had channels in the languages French, German, Italian and English. The safe didn't work so we had to put our valuables to the hotel safe at the reception desk. The hotel's restaurant has excellent meals. But, it's open for passengers, too. When we had breakfast (between 7:30-8:30 am), some other people (5 retired man, we think they were from the village) were very loud all the time, laughing and so on. But the hotel's boss didn't say anything. That was really disturbing. The hotel has a wellness area, but it's rather old and in the basement rooms (no windows). The light didn't work correctly at first. The swimming pool was nice, but the light in the Sauna and in the Turkish bath wasn't bright enough, it was nearly dark in it. In one of the showers, the water didn't drain off correctly (10 cm deep). The whirlpool was nice, and warm (about 38°), but the air pressed in it (for whirling) was cold, so after using the whirlpool for 10 minutes, the temperature was going down (to about 30°).

"Awful smell in the room"

03/09/2017

We arrived late on Thursday evening and noticed a weird smell to the room (room no. 250). It smelt like sewage so we aired out the room over night and during the next day. When we arrived back, it still smelt like sewage so we called the front desk. They said they would send someone up to look at it. I also asked for a different room but they said they were booked and couldn't move us. We waited and waited for someone to come look at it. Finally we went downstairs to remind them. They merely febreezed the room. After dinner the room smelt just as bad as before. The next morning we packed our bags and checked out early. No apology from the front desk staff or a discount on our room price. On Friday evening we stoped by the restaurant at 18.00 to see if they had room for two people at 19.30. They said no prob. When we arrived at 19.20 for dinner, another person told us that there wasn't any room. We would have to wait for 1.5 hours. They could have called our room to let us know they made a mistake. I stead they choose to ignore it. I'm a positive note, we went to Wittenheim and had dinner at a cute restaurant with delicious food (Le Boreal). Avoid this hotel if at all possible!

"Nice place to stay"

24/07/2017

We are thankful for the staff who was very helpful and nice! The hotel is in a good location and condition, indeed, the room was too small to fit 2 people and 3 suitcases, basically, it was a bed and no room at all. Thankfully, we were able to change it for a bigger room. Unfortunately, the conditioner was leaking and the locker did not work. The rest was good.

"Cosy hotel near Mulhouse"

Good midrange hotel, ideally situated in a quiet town but only 10 minutes driving to Mulhouse and also near interesting places to visit in the Elsace area. The staff are very friendly and the food they offer in the restaurant is of good quality. Be prepared for large portions! They also have a spa area with indoor pool, sauna, hammam and jacuzzi- which is a nice addition. Pool water could be slightly warmer but was enjoyable nevertheless.

"Decent stay with security issues"

03/01/2017

We stayed here on our way to Italy. The hotel is a minute or two's drive from motorway and has secure parking at the back of hotel. We were allocated a room in the annex across the road and although we were a little disappointed it didn't matter that much, however, when we opened the room there was a man on our bed. He was just as surprised as we were and very quickly he packed his stuff up and left for his own room which was two doors down the hallway. When we told the receptionist she just said that he'd been to see her and that it was all sorted. No apology or offer of a refresh clean of our room and no explanation as to how his key opened our door!!!! Bit of a security issue there I think. Anyway, we ate at the restaurant which was very busy. The food was good at a decent price. I wish that someone would have put a little character into the decoration of the place though, it looks like a really dreary 1970s hotel restaurant. We didn't eat breakfast at the hotel but went a few doors down the street and bought really yummy croissants from the bakery. If they sorted out the key issue I would recommend this hotel for a stop over.

"Nice hotel for a overnight"

The staff at the reception was really friendly. The room was quite big, equipped with all needed accessories. The bed was not queen, but two single pushed together. I would appreciate for a queen size bed without canyon between Wifi is quite fast, enough for the standard needs. Parking is closed during the night time, which I liked! Breakfast and SPA havent been used from us -> no coment

Stayed here on our way back to Paris from Northern Italy. I knew the hotel restaurant due to a recent business trip in the region. Good price quality the room (exec) was fine with a comfortable mattress and ample space (not enormous though). The staff very friendly the restaurant very good quality (especially the choucroute). We also found breakfast was also very good although a bit pricey. Would definitely return.

"Gastronomic in-between"

Cheval Blanc Hotel is the ideal in-between South and North, East and West travels when you want to discover the Elzas and wine hopping. Hotel has plenty rooms, neat and clean at a decent price. On top, you don't have to look for a gastronomic dinner as their restaurant is top. Many dishes with good Elzas wine, not only limited only to the Elzas. The menu card is satisfying all seasons desire. Service is professional and friendly. We are going to this hotel and restaurant already more than 5 years, sometimes 2 times a year. We love sightseeing in Colmar, Strasbourg or any other little village of the Elzas on search for a good Riesling.

Beautiful location and hotel, very clean, very helpful staff. The location is just off the main motorway and a great place to stopover on our journey home. The staff in the restaurant were also helpful and suggested items that were delicious

We stayed for 1 night on our return journey home. The hotel is ideally situated within 1 mile of the motorway. Our accommodation was located in the building opposite the main entrance across the road. The reception staff was very friendly. The village is quiet and there was no noise through the night. The room was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the dinner in the restaurant. (Local specialties). Another plus point is the gated parking behind the main building. We found it perfect for our requirements and will definitely stay there again.

We used this very pleasant little hotel twice for one night at each end of a road trip from the uk to Italy and back this September. The hotel is located in a pretty little and very quiet village. The beauty is that it is only 3 minutes from the motorway so easy to get to. It makes a great transit hotel for all. I doubt you would use this as your destination hotel unless you were on holiday in the Alsace region. So what do you need to know? Well first of all check out the pics on this site. They appear accurate and will tell you most of what you need to know. The rooms have been fully refurbished fairly recently and are in very good condition, immaculately clean and comfortable. We got a great sleep in this quiet hotel and village. What the photos can't show you is that the hotel is two buildings accross the road from each other. We had the second grade up of room and were in the main building both times, great for the bar and restaurant. I had read reviews that the staff were multi-lingual and we found the reception staff had exceptional language skills and witnessed two of them speaking English, French and German. The restaurant staff are a mixed bag with differing ability but we had no issues at all. We used the restaurant on both nights, nowhere else to go, and were pleased. We got a menu in English the first night, in French the second. Could have asked for the English but it was more fun to translate. We really enjoyed every dish we had, they were really good. The fillet steak with pepper sauce was better than most gastropub fare from the uk. The wine list was vast and fairly well priced, local and wines from all over France. We had two fantastic wines. So price, two people, two courses, 1 bottle of wine, bottled water and two glasses of cremant cost €135 so around £100. Not cheap but we felt OK for the quality. Breakfast is adequate with a fairly limited choice. You won't go hungry but I've had better in most places. Mostly continental fare. The coffee was from a machine but really good indeed. Price for two €29 so around £11 each. A bit steep to be honest. Given the room price of £70 I think overall good value. The wifi was adequate and worked in both rooms well although I had to log on every time I wanted the web as it seemed to auto logout. We didn't use the pool and hot tub so can't comment but it's included in the price of your room. There is masses of parking behind both buildings and some in front of the smaller one so you won't struggle to find a space. If I take this route to Italy again I will not hesitate to book in here again. Last little tips. Celebrate with a glass Or two of cremant from the bar. (Regional sparkling wine often better than many branded champagnes) it was €7 a glass half what you pay in the uk. There is a good pharmacy right accross the road and a cash point that has multi language instructions two minutes walk up the road. Thanks for reading.

stayed here for 2 weeks on business Rooms are good and clean but small. The bed is excellent restaurant is excellent for dinner but poor for breakfast. WIFI is terrible. Laundry takes almost a week so you might depart without your clothes.

"Charming Hotel"

Very pretty hotel in 2 buildings opposite each other. Village is extremely quiet - absolutely nothing else there other than houses. Therefore no eating choice. We didn't enjoy the evening food, so it's a case of having to drive to eat. Room was exceptionally clean and very comfortable. The staff were friendly and hospitable. We really enjoyed the (small) indoor pool/sauna/steam room. A lovely place for a stop off.

"Great Stop-over Hotel Near Mulhouse"

15/12/2014

We have used this hotel frequently en route to Italy and it is very conveniently situated about 20 minutes from the Swiss border. It is family owned and managed and most of the staff and management speak good English. It is very close to the motorway but Satnav is useful for getting the quickest route as there are a few twists and turns. It is good value and we paid €69 for a double and the rooms are clean, pleasant and functional. The restaurant is very good indeed and specialises in Alsace cooking. The mid-priced menu was €36 and the food was fantastic. Alsatian wines are not cheap but it's well worth going local and splashing out; you don't need to go to the very expensive end of the list to have a very, very nice Riesling. A much under appreciated grape especially by those of us who started drinking wine in the 1970s! The staff are very friendly and although this part of France is a bit more expensive than the northern and central Logis hotels this is a great place to stay as well as a convenient location.

"Nice hotel but not modern"

I stayed in this hotel for work and from the outside it is lovely. The rooms are slightly older fashion but it is clean and has everything you need. The restaurant had good food. The hotel booked me a taxi for the airport and this was on time. Just beware that a taxi is EUR70 from the hotel to the airport. I was checking out at 4.30am so there was unfortunately no one who spoke English or who could work the computer so I had to leave and phone later to pay my bill.
