Best Western Chula Vista/Otay Valley Hotel, Chula Vista

The hotel was really unorganized. A lot of things in the room didn't work, our rooms weren't ready until 530pm, Key cards were very faulty and didn't work all the time, and my shower wasn't working… Only the bath. I won't be staying here again.

Booked here for a wedding I was attending in the area for 2 nights. The hotel was clean, well maintained and I felt safe here traveling alone as a female. The staff was friendly and helpful with anything we needed. Great place for a reasonable price.

My family and I stayed in room 125. The shower would constantly run hot water. The shower faucet was broke you could not get it to the right temperature. You would have to make sure it's just perfect or you would burn yourself with the water. Thank goodness it happened to me first and not my five-year-old daughter. With the shower running all the time it caused the room to smell like mildew and the condensation would build up on the windows. We would have to sleep with the window open to get airflow in the room to help with the humidity. They definitely do not give you enough towels in the room. My husband made several runs every night to get more towels.

I spent one night only due to I headed to the Tijuana airport the next morning, ithis location is very convenient but need a lot of improvements and renewed the bathrooms and shower and offer more bath towels

Opened the door to our room and it smelled like a dirty old bar. The smell of smoke was so overwhelming we had to leave the door open to attempt to air the room out, but the cigarette smoke was so ingrained into the room it did not help. Went to the front desk to complain but no one was at the front desk for atleast 10 mins. I asked if we could change room and he stated, "I would have to pay for a upgrade!" Also the one and only ice machine at the hotel was not working. Had to go across the street to buy ice.

Fist time with the worse customer service from front desk. Reserved 2 rooms , 1st room bloody dirty sheets, found a syringe with drug on it. 2nd room opened wimdow with no lock. Was reported and fromt desk guy was careless to deal with it and fixed the problem. We had to stayed the 2 nights because I couldn't found another hotel. Left a note to manager and til now no one has reach to me.

The location itself is suspicious- hiding behind a gas station. we barely noticed it at first. reception was fine, but it felt weird that they took forever to get our keys (20 minutes). we got there at around midnight since we had a busy day with family, and came with us and our cousin's family. they also got a room. the pool was cloudy and looked like it wasn't cared for, and I don't even wanna talk about the elevator. it smelled like dirty mopping! the rooms appeared normal and like advertised, but walking into our cousin's room it smelt very.. off? it was fine but slightly weird. the rest was normal in their room, but our room was a whole new story. the initial scent and look was normal, and the scent was actually pleasant! though I thought that we had a nice room, I was wrong. the bathroom. it smelled of “death” as my family described it. one of us who has a very good sense for like bad “energy” or good “energy” (im not sure how to exactly describe it) noticed the “energy” of the hotel was very off and just eerie. back to the room, it seemed as if someone died in that bathroom and someone covered it with poisonous chemicals. it was so hard to breathe with it, and nobody set foot in that bathroom. no wonder the door was closed when we came into the room, which was not in our cousin's room. there also was a very noticeable and annoying high pitched ringing sound in the room, which seemed to be coming from the roof, which itself had a sketchy opening to enter it, which we did not touch. we only stayed there for an hour, and an hour was much longer than we should have. we took our bags and left immediately after we informed the front desk about this. whatever you do, don't go to room 325 in that hotel. this is a sincere warning for you guys. this all happened at midnight time to 2:00 (in between Saturday, July 24 and Sunday, July 25)

And that's about the only positive. The room was dirty and outdated. The tv only worked when it wanted to. Mosquitoes everywhere - we must have killed at least 5 in the 1st hour we were there and never stopped seeing them flying around the room. We've stayed here before and had a completely different experience so, with my previous experience in mind, I asked if we could switch rooms. They had to send a maintenance guy to the room first to determine if our complaints were legit but since he didn't believe they were, I was told there wasn't anything they could do. Our room keys stopped working that same night. The clerk even had a hard time getting our door open and said the battery needed replacing and they'd take care of it the next day. The next day came, and out of 5 room keys, the maintenance guy got 1 to work and therefore decided the battery was fine. As soon as he left, that same key didn't work and I had to get him back to the room. The BW website, and the tv in the hotel lobby, show the rooms being thoroughly sanitized with Covid precautions being taken. With the exception of wearing a mask, none of those claimed precautions are actually being taken at this location. Actually, our room stunk and smelled sour after housekeeping "cleaned" it. In fairness, I will say, I was given a small discount for 1 night and they came by our room once (while we were out for the day) to offer a different room but since we weren't there the offer was no longer valid. We will not be staying here again.

One of the best stay .... lovely neighborhood but out skirts.. we didn't mind. Modern, very clean, very spacious and pleasant. Energy efficient and god break fast. Loved our stay .... highly recommended.

Bathroom was dirty, carpet was dirty, spilled water on the tile and when I wiped it up the tissue was caked in dirt. Room smelled musty, walls were thin, could hear every word from the outdoor hallways.

We stayed for 4 nights in early June 2021. Room service did not clean up room (empty trash/make beds) for 2 of the 4. Worst part of the stay was we had young men staying in the room next door who starte rough housing, slamming doors, music blaring at 7 a.m. on a Sunday. We complained to the front desk management and the response was "s&%t happens" and they did nothing about it. We will never return to this BW; have stayed at many throughout CA.

This particular Best Western is average. the place is dated, and oddly enough the hotel entrance is shared with the 76 gas station. However, you do get a bargain for the price. If you are visiting San Diego, the Chula Vista in particular, and you are for the most part out and about, and only needed a place to stay, then this hotel will suffice. Cheap, and offer a comfy bed.

As a client, I can say a lot about my initial contact with a business, second, at check in I want to confirm that I am met with the same professional and friendly service that I received at the time of reservation, third, location and cleanliness. In all of my stays I have never had any issues with this Best Western location.

WIth maintenance apparently deferred during Covid, this Hotel is simply not ready for "prime time." During our visit the weekend of May 21-24, 2021, we experienced: a. A hotel room with a running bathroom faucet. b. The following morning, we were put into a substite room ... opened the door to discover no bed and garbage (doing work in the room)? c. Third room had severe water staining (not a good look for a top floor room ... was this a leaking pipe or a leaking roof d. There was one (1) working ice machine on the entire property (2nd floor, West side of hotel, none on the third floor, none on first floor. Thank goodness for the cleaning staff's direction) e. Harried front desk had no time for pleasantries or even a pleasant demeanor, and requests are followed by sighs, rolled eyes and a frustrated attitude. I suspect, but do not know, that with the lifting of Covid restrictions, this property was simply not ready for a "full house." It is likely that the staff was inundated with requests and expectations based on the company's websites, without the resources to properly handle the almost full property. ADVICE - Give this property a chance to catch up on badly needed deferred maintenance, get its staff trained, and maybe it will be back up to the reviews we see here and on other sites.

If you are in need of a place to stay in south san diego,ca. Or actually just visiting san diego this Best Western location is great. You are literally able to jump on the freeway if need be. Or walk to a few different food venues which all have excellent food. As well as a few stores. Great location,great staff,and great comfy rooms .Enjoy!

First lets start with the terrible lightning in the bathroom, the fridge wasn't very cold, also the cabinet to the fridge broke off and ripped my dress, told the front desk and the gentlemen did give me 40$ off my stay and told me to go buy a new one at the outlet lol I was there a Total of 3 nights and not once did the maintenance person ever come to fix that cabinet so I had to look at ungly glue on the cabinet the entire time, also they advertised a heat pool and it wasnt. And of course we can all say that Brown Bag breakfast they provide is cheap and not professional.

This room reminded me of a Motel 6. The rooms definitely need to be updated for the price they are charging. It was only one set of towels in a room for my husband and I. The air conditioning was in a box making noise throughout the night. I value my money, and won't ever stay at his location again.

This hotel offered great service and turned a bad situation into a great one! I came in late after a long flight. I booked through Expedia and apparently they had overbooked. Hector was so helpful in helping me get another room at the hotel. After a long day and a late night it was a relief that they went the extra mile.

All check in is now conducted outside due to COVID 19 restrictions. When checking in Ceaser failed to explain that there was a $50 dollar holding fee. He handed us the paperwork to sign and when I asked about the fees I was rudely told that I just needed to sign the paper. I explained I was looking to see if I was being charged anything because it was not indicated on the paper. Also the room was crossed off and a hand written room number was placed on the paper, this was a different number than the room that was actually assigned to us. When asked about it he said he made a mistake but it was never corrected on the paperwork nor was any paperwork provided to us at check-in or check-out. I was told this was because I paid through a third party. Communication needs to be improved especially when dealing with people's money. Staff should understand that hotel's handle business differently and there should be no assumptions made when talking with customers. Please do better with explaining your process.

Parking was limited for the rooms on the west side of the property. The lobby was closed so you had to use the night window for everything. And since the lobby was closed there was no breakfast which is the main reason I stay at a Best western. The sack breakfast left a lot to be desired. The room lighting was horrible and both the sivk and bath drains were clogged. The price was right and close to where I was doing business but I would seriously think about staying on Hotel Circle next time.

Rooms are clean and the bed is comfortable. Staff is friendly and attentive to your needs. Is fairly close to ammenities such as restaurants and laundry and such. If looking for a place to stay for business, would highly reccomend.

Great Staff, Great rooms, Great Location Great Value. The rooms are spacious and clean with an updated decor. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Compared to other hotels in the same price range, this one is far superior.

Best Western staff Otay Valley Hotel, has made my stay a smooth transition with their great hospitality services as I face a crucial crisis, they make it to where I can be worry free on my stays and feeling safe and comfortable while staying at Best Western.

We have never been to a Best Western hotel where there was cockroaches in our room! This room was the most discussing room we have ever stayed in. Besides the cockroaches in the room, the vanity looked like it had not been dusted in ages, the bathroom floor had not be mopped, the commode was plugged up so I had to continue to plunge it to get it to not overflow. There was only one set of linins in the room so I had to go up to the front desk to get another set. I would never recommend this facility to anyone ever.

Easy access off freeways...the lobby is closed due to covid so you can only go to the window. we asked for extra towels and washcloths so we could shower that night and also in the morning and the night clerk was very helpful he got them immediately and brought them to our room even though we said we would stay there and wait he insisted he help with that... great kid very energetic. After that when I was parking the car which had a trailer attached to it I had my bright lights on trying to see in the dark shadows, there was some drunk people at the end of the drive who got in their truck and drove all the way up to me to tell me to turn my brights off they were very hostile, I didn't feel very safe at that point. I apologized of course and he wildly drove back to his spot... They were a little noisy for about another hour or so. The next day I asked for an iron as there was not one in the room, the clerk said he would bring one & I did advise that we would be out of the room for a couple of hours and had the tag on the door that we didn't need room service he said he would do it himself so it would be no problem but when we returned after several hours there was still no iron so the event that we were going to as soon as we got there we just had time to change not time to go run and find an iron again disappointed that we were a little wrinkly in our attire......great shower in accessible room.

This place is sketchy. The lobby is closed. You will check in and out through a bullet proof glass on the side of the lobby. Yes, really. There are cigarette butts and misc trash littered all over the property. If you are on a "weed tour", then maybe. If not, then don't. The place reeks of weed. There is constant noise all night long with people coming and going, arguing, Banging door closed, car alarms going off, you name it. It might be a decent value at $50/night, but not at regular BW rates. My room had mold in the shower and missing tile. There was no coffee in the room and the check-in clerk would not look for any. The batteries for the TV and A/C remotes were missing. Rather than have to go out of the room into the smoke cloud, I "donated" batteries I had with me.

The hotel is ok, stayed for 5 night on business. The room was clean and comfortable. Had to ask for a TV remote the first night, the towel rack in the bathroom was pulled out of the wall, the bed was comfortable. Due to the covid-19, the room was made up every other day. Checking in, the lobby was closed, had to use the night window. Plenty of places around the hotel to eat. Had work in Tijuana, 8 mile drive to the border. Other wise my experience was good.

Sorry from appearance, to customer service, to interior of hotel . All around . Terrible! Customer service not polite, not helpful, unprofessional in fact. Room smelled like cigar! Save yourself the hassle. Find another place!

This was a very clean hotel tucked away from all of the city noise. The room was in nice condition & the bed was very comfortable (especially the pillows). This is a great buy if you are visiting the SD zoo/sunset cliffs!

There are not a lot of places to eat close by.All of the hotel staff was very nice and helpful. much more affordable then most places in the area. I would stay again. Even if it looks outdated from the outside it is still clean and nice inside.

At first my key did not work, waited about 30 mins to get into my room. My king size room looks brand new and amazing. The only downside is the area facing the freeway.. it is super loud and hard to get some rest

We stayed two nights the weekend after Christmas. Rooms are smallish but newly decorated and layout is efficient. Shower was full size (no tub). Bed was comfortable and TV was large. Good value for the price. Breakfast was included and it was awesome...full hot breakfast as well as cold items we usually get. Eggs, meat, muffins or bagels, fruit. Good coffee!

Only minor negative was the noise level of nearby street and freeway. Light sleepers would probably have a hard time at this location. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. The tub was a little worn, but was clean.

I had a great stay. Clean, quiet hotel. Breakfast a plus. Other than some late night noise from guests upstairs and next door, I have no complaints. Towels are a little thin and hard, but I dealt with it. A clean bug free room is important and you will definitely get that here. Highly recommended, would definitely stay again.

we have stayed at this hotel several times over the years. it is always clean and surprisingly quite for being right next to the freeway. everyone is always very friendly. they take pride in keeping their breakfast fresh and well stocked. they just started offering chorizo and eggs with breakfast. it was excellent! much better than you would expect at a free buffet.

This was one of the most outstanding locations for the San Diego area. The best thing is the people at this location. Everyone went out of their way to make our stay (3 days) fantastic. It is also one of the cleanest hotels I have ever stayed at. Breakfast was outstanding. Nothing but five star treatment from the entire stay. Proximity to the Mattress Firm AMP is outstanding and from the time we left the concert to the time we were at the hotel was 10 minutes.

Very comfortable rooms, friendly and helpful staff. Great free breakfast, homemade chiquilles and frioles each morning, along with the usual breakfast offerings. This is a great location if you are going to a concert at North Island Amphitheatre, as it is only a couple miles away. Also a nice pool area.

Best bang for buck persay, extremely clean, quiet, and a full hot breakfast what more do you want. Great value, would recommend , and staying at nothing but Best Western from here on out. Travel quite a bit do to my daughters soccer schedule.

Great location for San Diego area attractions - right off of main highway to get anywhere you want to go- also near every type of shopping and gas station shares the property with a mini-mart - great rates and the rooms are clean and comfortable

They offered fresh homemade cookies at checkin. We asked to be on the opposite side of the hotel as the freeway but you could still hear it from room 321. The rooms were very well maintained, had plenty of room to relax. The AC unit worked fine but feel if it was 100 outside it would struggle to keep the room cool. I'm not sure I would stay there again and it is not because of the hotel but actually the noise from the freeway. The breakfast was probably one of the best I have had at a Best Western.

Staff at this hotel are wonderful and caring people. Make you feel at home, it's one of my favorite location to stay, although I did not have time for breakfast this time. I'm always satisfied with it.

My family and I needed a last minute hotel for our weekend trip. I booked Best Western and didn't know what to expect. However, my family and I loved our stay! They have the friendliest staff and our rooms smelled clean the moment you walk in. Their breakfast was not a typical continental breakfast, they had hot breakfast which was amazing!!! Absolutely will be booking with them again!!!

They had a few problems with finding my reservation but quickly resolved it before I checked in, they offer great discounts and free membership rewards upon checking into the hotel the front desk gave me a small gift bag. The staff was very friendly and helpful the room was mostly clean except the coffee pot provided in the room that I accidentally knocked over still had very old coffee in it with mold in the top of course I didn't expect to see that in such a clean room I guess they should make sure the coffee pots are actually thoroughly cleaned I did call the front desk for more towels because I used the last of ours to clean up the spill and they had house keeping come take care of the pot and wipe down the sink and freshen up the room again. Other than that I very much enjoyed my stay the bed was amazing to sleep in after walking around all day they provided a lot a pillows and very clean fresh sheets and a very clean bathroom along with a convenient slide closet. I definitely recommend this for anyone who is in town for business or a simple get away it was money well spent for a good night sleep after a long day.

I recently stayed two nights here. I couldn't believe how comfy the beds were! I didn't toss and turn through the night, and I didn't wake up in any pain; that's a huge bonus for me! The carpet is super soft. The room was sparkling clean. The breakfast was delicious! They have Belgium waffles (that are some of the best hotel waffles I've had), a build your own breakfast sandwich (I wish I knew what brand of bagels they used, they were so soft!), create your own yogurt mix, and cereal. The front desk staff was helpful and courteous. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat!

This hotel is very nice and very comfortable the only issue I have is that you have to put down a $50 deposit witch was fine because the bell hopper said as long as you don't break anything you're fine and we will give you the deposit back and it's been about a week and I haven't received it yet

Hotel was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was included and provided a variety of foods to choose from. The coffee excellent, not watery like at other hotels I've stayed at. Even though the hotel is located close to freeway, we didn't hear traffic noise when we were asleep. I like the BW chain.

The staff there go beyond the helpfulness and engage their guest. You will not leave unsatisfied. I intend to return and maybe enjoy the pool it was very clean looking. Its easy to get on and off freeway and food service.

The reservations that we used when we got to chulavista were dirty and not as advertised. So we left and found the bestwestern and the rest of the trip went off with out a hitch. Thank you for a clean comfortable stay

The place was okay nothing special rooms appeared very outdated. Breakfast was below par. Clientele appeared sketchy. The price was good it was not great but that accounts for the clientele it attracted. I had family with young kids I'd definitely steer clear

We are sorry that we did not meet your expectations with our breakfast buffet. I understand that many people have different diets and in some cases we don't fulfill their needs. We do include eggs, sausage, pastries, beagles and cream cheese, cereals and fruit, toast juices and coffee.

We stayed at this hotel coming down from LA. We arrived late in the evening and the front desk clerk was very friendly. It's located conveniently close to a gas station, where we picked up some water and a couple of energy bars. The room was big and clean. Suffering from jet lag had us up at 3 in the morning, so we ended up checking out at around 4 in the morning to continue our journey, so we did not see the breakfast choice.

Im here for work. My first week, I was not impressed with customer service. First our company always uses BW, books group of us our rooms that is paid w/ company card but we always let person checking us in know that each of us have our own rewards number but paid on same c.c. It usually isnt a problem adjusting it but, this guy told us some new rule was implemented & that he could not give us each our reward credit. We came in at evening, I was thirsty & asked for water. I was directed to a picture & cups. Problem was, I had to carry my luggage to 3rd floor & was not going to be able to carry a cup of water without making a mess. I guess they dont provide bottle water like the other BW. The good: shower, air/heat unit has timer to stop running, and rooms nice.

This hotel had many room renovations, is clean and is VERY convenient being right off I-805. The entire Staff is friendly and VERY helpful. Breakfast free and had quite a variety of their usual items. We stay here each time we come to Chula Vista.

Made the reservation 4 days in advance and in person, i made it a point that i wanted a roll-in shower due to a Military injury. I arrived late that evening after a 5+drive, the night shift desk staff checked me in and ask once again if the room had a roll-in shower and was told YES, once i was in the the room, the there was a Tub, I told the staff but was told there was no other room left with roll-in shower. I was to tired to go to a different hotel. This hotel needs a better verification of rooms.

We spent a night here prior to going to CBX lot to cross into Mexico for a flight the next morning. Hotel is right off the freeway and convenient. Lot was about 15 minutes away. Hotel was clean, staff friendly, and breakfast was standard and included in the price.

I am delighted you were impressed with most aspects of our hotel, especially with our convenient location close to the cbx airport along with only 13 miles from the San Diego airport. My team is dedicated to preventing the best service possible and we hope to see you again very soon.

First night of stay, keys to the hotel room did not work, they say battery needs to be changed but maintenance was unavailable so they transferred me to another room in another floor. The next room I was assigned - no TV, the telephone was not working, no hair dryer, the room was dark although the lights are on. Decided to transfer me again to another room on another floor. Keys are still a problem, I have to waste time to go back and forth to the lobby to have it re activated. I was not the only one having problems, at one point - there were 3 guests lining up in the counter at the lobby trying to get their keys re-activated. This is my first time staying at Best Western and my experience was the worst ever. I've been travelling for work and going on vacation a lot and staying at different hotels and I have never encountered these kind of problems. I will never stay at this hotel ever again. It is not worth my aggravation.

From the time we checked in until the time we checked out the personnel were friendly and very courteous. The room was exceptionally clean and it just been remodeled. The refrigerator and microwave were very handy. The service was great. The location off of the 805 was perfect.

I stayed at this property as it was an excellent location to a nearby hospital that I had to conduct business in, I am a Best Western Diamond Member, even with that I received a room facing the freeway and the freeway on-ramp, the noise in my room was terrible, to make matters worse, I had a gap to the outside as my air conditioner did not fit properly in the wall allowing additional noise to enter the room with the window closed. It was raining during my visit, the satellite television was terrible, and made it difficult to watch.On a positive note, service was great, all rooms have been (or soon to be) upgraded with very nice amenities and comfortable mattresses.

I expect Best Western to be a good value, comfortable, clean, reliable. Our room the second night (we got moved), the heater didn't work, the front desk told us "too bad", and we froze! It was remediated the next day when we complained to the Manager. They only gave us $30 off our bill. At $90 something a night, I expected at least to be compensated for the night we froze. Very disappointed

The customer service was awesome! The room was clean the breakfast was good! Don't change anything because everything was that s don't change anything because everything was Amazing! I really like the new decor, as they were remodeling!

Hotel.Motel room was fine, breakfast very good too, but what stands out is their OUTSTANDING staff who to the person went out of their way to make our stay comfortable and fun. Really unusual to find OLD FASHIONED quality customer service these days, and this place really has it to the person!

I booked the hotel thru Expedia. However when I reached the hotel they refused to accept my debit card for deposit of USD 50. When I offered them cash as deposit they even refused that as deposit. I was left to fend for myself. Worse!! They refused any refund for the booking amount that I paid. Pl stay away from this hotel. It's full of thieves.

I had to stay here for several days while on a business trip. The location is super convenient right off the highway. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was quick and easy, similar to what you'd find at a Holiday Inn Express. The bonus here though was that also had a fresh pot of rice every morning which I thoroughly appreciated. The drawbacks, though, made the quality of my stay here undesirable. My room was clean but smelled pretty bad and stuffy. My sink didn't drain and on two of the days the water that came out was dirty and brown. During one of the nights it did get cold and when I turn on the heater I was faced with a blast of dirt and debris and apparently turning on the heat sets off the fire alarm. But not to worry, no one checked on me to make sure the place didn't burn down. Further down the halls you'd see rooms that apparently we're being remodeled, which is fine but I did find it disturbing that the doors were left open late into the evening. Lastly the fitness room though big and roomy was not the best. It was located in the back of the building which seemed unsafe. They also had to give you a separate key to enter and since the code changed everyday you had to ask the front desk for a new key each time - apparently they don't make this tidbit know since several people tried to enter without the correct key card and gave up in frustration. The fitness room lock was also broken, which made using the room hit or miss. The equipment was ok - a pulley system, elliptical machine, treadmills, recumbent bike, a bench and some random dumbbells. If you're just passing through this place is okay. If you need a room for multiple nights then I'd suggest looking elsewhere.

I chose this property because I had stayed here before and I considered it to be an affordable hotel with good quality. It was sad to see that all that appreciation I had from it is all gone now. First, we arrived and they sent us to the "old" section of the hotel which doesn't match with the pictures you see in Kayak or Hotels.com, where I made my reservation. Secondly, I called front desk to complain that the black out curtain didn't close all the way, and they said they were going to send someone to repair it and the person never came. I chose this hotel because the first time I stayed here, it had a nice, familiar atmoshpere. Now, I saw a person drinking and smoking "funny" stuff next to my car, the property looked dirty, they sent us to the 3rd floor and most of the time the elevator wasn't working, oh well, a TOTAL DISAPPOINTMENT. Better start looking in another direction for my next stay in the San Diego area...

Everything about this hotel was great! The rooms were nice and modern and it felt safe. The breakfast was pretty amazing also. I went down for coffee and stayed for the food. Staff was also amazing! I had no problems with anything.

Stayed here 3 days this month. No issues with the room itself, very clean and comfortable. The problem was the location. Make sure your room is NOT near a ice machine or you will be awake by 6 am. We had room 212. Plus housekeeping carts are very loud, no their fault, the rooms must be cleaned. Breakfast was the typical fair for BWP but the Mexican dish the serve is way to spicy, and I love all food that is hot and spicy. The hot tub is only luke warm at best..was a disappointment. The customer service is what stood out and I will consider staying here again. Kudos to Daniel at the front desk for allowing us an early checkin as reward members.

We went for the weekend & stayed at the BW Otay. The hotel was nice & clean. Bed was comfortable & we slept. well. What I was also happy with was that the freeway was close; & if you want a quick snack, they had a store right next door. Front desk personnel were very pleasant as well as the kitchen personnel. Breakfast was nice but wished they had a variety of fresh fruit.

The room was noisy and the services were out dated , the tv was still analog , thought I was in the sixty's with all the snow on it. The Ice machine was just outside my room and it very noisy all night long with people filling there ice chests.

When they mean check in at 4:00pm they stick to it. I arrived at 3pm thinking I could check in if rooms were available but they made me wait an hour. There were other guests as well who must have thought check in would be at 3pm as well and we were all turned away until 4pm. The room was very clean and the beds were comfortable with plenty of pillows. I had seen pictures of the bath area on the internet and was surprised that the bath area looked nothing like the photo. It was very small. Amenities were very small sized, only shampoo and conditioner and no hand lotion. The hot breakfast was good. Make your own waffles. Pre made eggs and sausage. They also had a tray of Mexican enchilada casserole and refried beans with cheese. They constantly were replenishing the food which was nice. The pool area was clean and had nice lounge chairs and a couple of tables with umbrellas. Parking was adequate but we had a first floor room and as soon as we moved our car we lost the parking in front of our room and had to park at the back of the hotel on return from our day activities. We were on the opposite side of the freeway so we had no noise.

I am sure our staff will be delighted to provide you with excellent service one more time,unfortunately we are in summer its sold out almost every day and its difficult to have rooms ready before 4 pm we try our best to accommodate everyone.

If they fixed things and kept smoking rooms from being marked as non-smoking it could almost be a nice hotel. The nicest thing was the new sink. The air conditioner didn't actually cool but the fan worked.

We are sorry that you were not happy with your stay. We have many guest walking in our doors every day and in seldom occasions details like the smell of the room get over looked. We apologize. Our last renovation was in 2011 and since then we have upgraded many features in our rooms. We hope that you will give us another opportunity in the near future.

I stayed there last month. And there was bed bugs in my room. When I told the receptionist she called me a liar and was very rude to me. When I called the manager about what had happened he refused to reimburse me on the cleaning Bill to take care of my clothes in my luggage then proceeded to show me a clean bill of health from Terminix. When you read the reviews on Terminix they are the worst pest control company in the United States I have bites all over my body from the bed bugs and I took pictures for proof. This hotel seems to be under staffed. Instead of being in the mid level tier of hotels this one is falling to a lower level of service but is asking for a mid range of hotel pricing. You will be getting a Red Roof or Motel 8 type of hotel for the price of a Holiday Inn Express.

Watch your bill they didn't charge what I was quoted on my reservation. Not only that but they charged my husband twice for the same room. I have a receipt for cash and a charge on my card two different amounts

Great sleep good custumer service rooms were very clean low outside noise. No issues with the check in nice and simple. Ez parking close to the rooms. Great pool area and also good breakfast n hot as well

I suspect corporate policy has made check-in for guests a very arduous process, taking 10 minutes per guest/couple at a time. When we arrived as a block of guests, it took over 2 hours to get them checked-in. Also, the room keys were VERY faulty, requiring many frustrated attempts before opening the door, or the pool. Shower drain plug wasn't working right. $20 off the bill helped, but better would have been fixing the above issues. And breakfast was hardly edible--get a real kitchen and use it! Staff very professional and courteous. Proximity to Freeway was NOT a problem.

Our group booked this hotel, why? I have no idea. If cost is your only concern, then by all means why not, but don't stay here for any other reason. The electronic keys don't work. The "full breakfast" in the morning is made without a kitchen, and what there is barely looks edible. The poolside is small. Yes, the rooms are clean. Yes, the beds are comfortable, and yes you will get sleep even though there is a freeway right outside your window which overlooks nothing but a parking lot. I would never deliberately choose this place as anything, but someplace to stay if you need a bed. I am sure there are better choices. I don't know what standard these people have that give this 5 stars, but no way is it a 5 star experience. I gave it a generous 3 stars because the rooms were clean and we did sleep. It just took forever for the staff to check in our large party.

Decided at last minute to take trip. No rooms at hotels or cost very high. Found this one and they were able to get us a room. Great customer service, Friendly staff. Clean Rooms great parking.Would stay here again.

Love that I can stay here at a fraction of the cost when compared to other hotels. A full hot breakfast, hot tea, pastries, etc plus a pool and hot tub. Would just love to hang out in the pools all day.

The freeway noise was terrible. and the luggage cart barely worked. one of the elevators was broken. The room was very clean, and everything was spotless, but the freeway noise was really bad, I don't know how anyone can sleep with that noise.

Only stay here if you need easy access to the freeway. Also ask for a room on the side that faces away from the freeway. Very noisy if you are on the side closest to the freeway. The front desk offered a different room because the heater didn't work in the room but I was too tired to go back to the front desk.

We have stayed at this property several times. We find it very pleasant and efficient. The staff is friendly and helpful, the rooms are clean and spacious and the breakfast is good.Despite being close to the freeway, it's quiet. It's an excellent place to stay while doing business in the South Bay Area or when crossing the border.

This is, apparently, a hidden gem as an affordable and comfortable place to stay in the San Diego area. The hotel staff were, without exception, pleasant and helpful. The hotel, although an older building, is very well maintained with clean rooms and an outstanding breakfast. On the side of the building away from the freeway, it was quiet and comfortable.

We stayed here because it was close to a friends house. We should have stayed else where. We stayed here one night and the next night at a best Western in Palm Springs. The difference was night and day though the price was similar. The staff was nice enough but the first impression of the room was not very good. It smelled of bleach and just had the smell and feel of a cheap motel. Parking was a little tight. Woke up about 1 am to a woman yelling in the parking lot or next door at the gas station. Then at 3 am it sounded like a kid running up and down the upstairs balcony. Food wasn't any better at the free breakfast.

When we first checked in, my first impression was that this was a motel in need of an update. On second look, we appreciated the quality of the decor and the rooms. The bedding was new and comfortable. It was a little noisy from the freeway, but we felt safe and that our fully loaded car would be OK for the night. The staff was great and recommended a restaurant in the neighborhood that had really good food. We noticed that many workers in the area in white pickup trucks stay at the motel. They accommodated our dog just fine. They provide an extensive free breakfast that was buffet style hot and cold food, including make your own waffles. Plan to stay there again on our way home in a few months.

The room has everything you will need & more. Not only is the bed a welcoming & comfortable place, but the chair. The chair is upholstered with a foot stool, very comfortable, no cheap wood chair here. Love my relaxing stay. I will return. Awesome staff ! Thank You !

We stayed here one night as we headed to Mexico.I was very impressed with the room. It was nicely decorated. The beds were very comfortable. Served hot breakfast. The breakfast was great. Great value for your money!

Everything great about this hotel, especially the price per night, except for the Juvenile or Child height toilet in the bathroom. I'm hoping that they will change tem out in the near future. Once again, the price per night was great for quality service and facility at this location.

I have stayed here several times on my way to Mexico to fish. The rooms are nothing special, but they are clean and well kept. They have a terrific FREE breakfast, and a small pool. The staff is friendly and efficient. I would definitely stay here again.

My family and I really enjoyed our stay here. They staff is great they really go out of their way to make your stay better. May at the front desk was just awesome! Rooms are pretty spacious and clean. The hot breakfast was great just wish they extended the time a little longer. The location is perfect and conveniently near shopping and dinning areas. Nothing like having great breakfast after a hangover, pool was clean, room was super clean and it didn't stink. The staff was really friendly. I will definitely come back again. It is close to everything Sea World, Old town San Diego.

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, the only thing good about this hotel was the staff. Our bathroom door was broken we got stuck in the bathroom twice the interest door was broken we couldn't get a room twice

The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and nice décor. The bed was very comfortable and they have great water pressure. It's right next to the freeway, so easy access. I felt safe in this area. There is a convenience store right next door and several places to eat close by. We also enjoyed the pool and hot tub. If you don't like freeway noise, be sure to request a room on the opposite side. Other than that, great room at a great price!!

We stayed for one night on a spur of the moment trip from Yuma. This hotel was very nice for the last minute price that I paid, and had a full breakfast in the morning. The staff were all extremely friendly!

Room smell like someone might have smoking cigarettes inside on supposedly a non smoking room. My sister's room still has a luggage belong to other guest when they enter the room. They were able to transferred us to a different room on our second night which I guess better than we had on our first night but still room smell with unpleasant odor.

The bathroom cleaning just needed more attention for cleaning but everything else was amazing and wonderful. The workers are great help and always busy trying to make your needs. Will be coming back to this location!

Stayed here years ago and was pleased to see this hotel is being remodeled. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. Only problem was only one ice machine was working. I will definitely stay at this hotel again.

I always stay at Best Western during my pleasure and business trips; this was my first time at this property. The quality of the property & rooms was right up there with other Best Westerns. Being very close to the Mexican border, thy added chilaquiles and beans as breakfast items. The quality was very good. I did have quite a bit of trouble with the room keys, having to change them twice during a 4 night stay.

Room was not prepped well. Lights out, A/C filter needing to change, spiders, broken shade, tv not working, noise which sounded like a leak in the ceiling all night. If you stay here be sure to to ask for someone to check the room. Staff changed the room for me which was the nice thing to do

Great value, nice room. Family enjoyed the hotel. Breakfast was an added bonus. Beds were comfortable and we all received a great nights sleep. Close to the freeway and easy access to the silver strand beach area. Would definitely stay here again.

The room was generally clean. But: All parts of the sheets, bed cover, and pillows smelled like some sort of perfume. It was on me in the morning. I wasn't sure if the sheets were even washed. When I was sleeping the sheets felt sweaty. The mattress was worn out. I could see the indentation in the bedcover. I usually wear socks or slippers in hotel rooms. I wore a pair of socks before going to bed, had them on in bed, and continued to wear them in the room until I went to breakfast. When I took them off, I was astonished by how extremely, extremely dirty they were! I've never had socks remotely as dirty from wear inside a hotel room. Are they even vacuuming the rooms? The socks were so dirty that I just threw them away. That carpet has to be replaced! It's beyond cleaning!

My wife and I have stayed at the Best Western near family in Chula Vista and always been happy with the rooms and facilities. This last time we needed to wait outside our room because the door was stuck in the frame. Someone eventually showed up and basically rammed the door open with his shoulder. No fixing it. That's how we needed to open the door every time. It was a nonsmoking room that smelled like an ashtray. The carpet is old and tattered. You have to unjam and drag the closet doors and the bathroom fluorescent light starts working by the time your done. I have notified the front desk and mentioned that these problems should have been obvious to anyone that had cleaned the room and that no patron should have to tell them this. He said he would notify maintenance. I will say though the staff was nice and the grounds and nicely warmed pool were clean. They actually have a pretty good free breakfast and dining area to eat in.

Yikes! For $129 a night, it was terrible. I have stayed in tiny no-name motels in the middle of nowhere that were better than this one and they were only $59.99. Problems here: Ice machine on south side of building didn't work, even though the front desk folks to me (for three days) that the repairman was on his way. TV had about 8 working channels and there was no sound on half of those. Housekeeping didn't leave a full set of towels until day three, after my third request. They didn't clean/check the coffee pot once. The elevators rattled and jerked like they were about to fall apart. Parking lot had trash, beer bottles and debris everywhere that sat for at least two of the three days I was there. On the up side, check in was quick and efficient and that first front desk guy was very friendly and cordial. Next time I am out there, I will pay another 30 bucks and find a Hampton Inn.

Location was farther than quoted by the Best Western Rep over the phone. Too far from Old Town. Only parking for smaller vehicles. Bed was hard and uncomfortable. Priced way too high for this type of room and location.

It was a good hotel. Didn't like that hotel was next to a gas station and freeway. Hotel could have been cleaned better. Free breakfast always a plus!! For budget travelers and emergency purposes, this hotel works.

Just the room that we ordered was a no smoking room. Even thou our room was a no smoking for reason smelled like a cigarette, other than that the hotel is located in a great place near the border but quite and nice.

Worst customer service ever ! 1.tried to pay in advance and I had to call a total of 11 times before hotel took the time to send a credit card authorization form. 2. Reserved 3 rooms for the week .All reserved rooms were requested with double beds. Arrived and hotel staff said they gave away one of my rooms and 3rd room only had 1 bed. Group had to separate and rent 1 room with double bed elsewhere. 3. I asked for receipts to be sent via email. Nothing was sent . I called a total of 8 times before staff sent receipts. Received and I found out that 3rd was charged for the whole week. 4. Called to correct but after 5 more calls manager Victor was not available .staff remembered that room was left due to one bed. Staff did not have ability to correct overcharges. And it seems like Vicor (Manager ) is always busy. Very unprofessional!! Either under staffed or property simply does not care about the customer. ( which by the way is the reason they have a job ! )

Clean, comfortable, super friendly, helpful staff. We will definitely stay here again. Very accommodating. Breaks was very good. Eggs, sausage,ham,rice,chili relanos,waffles,etc. Even during peak season this place was reasonable. Right off the freeway. Easy to get in and out. Driveway right beside circle K. You can gas up and go!

Its an average hotel with basic amenities. Breakfast is okay. Not the best but not the worst in quality. If you are just gona spend a night at the hotel then its worth it for but not worth staying more than that for the price

We expected to go inside to check in the reception, but ended up doing it on the side of it, because we came in late at night (possible security reasons). We were given the room right by the freeway, which was loud. We saw hair in the towels and the bathroom. The bed wasn't comfortable, every time we wake up, we ended up having back pains.

Took entirely too long to check in. Couldn't find a clean room even though I had already reserved one. Finally got a room and someone was already occupying it. Second room: key didn't work. By now 2 hours has gone by. There's no clean towels the next day due to them being washed. Fine. Overall inconvenient. Under trained staff.

This hotel was absolutely disgusting. We went to a concert for our anniversary and stayed here. What a mistake!!! First of all it took 40 minutes just to check in. The room was dirty and smelled. The A/C didn't work. We had one thin bath towel for the two of us which we didn't even feel comfortable using. We woke up to a clogged toilet which overflowed so we had to urinate in the bathtub. I left two dry cleaned dresses on hangers in the room. I called them and said I would be back to get them. When I arrived they were thrown in a bag and didn't even see the hangers they were on.

The hotel was fine, near our relatives but the pool was not working so I couldn't do my workouts. I'm have mobility issues so working out in water is very important to me. I think we should have gotten a discount.

Good Hotel and good location for shopping at Las Americas and San Diego Malls at San Ysidro CA. Any issues were attended to as quickly as possible. Both managers were very approachable and accommodating. Breakfast was, as usual top notch with a good selection of items. The breakfast room is large and comfortable. High volume of clients may crowd the area but is soon disbursed. Staff are constantly replacing items as they are depleted.

We checked in and waited while the 2 agents kept answering phone calls and not asking people to hold but helping them while we stood there trying to check in... as soon as they would hang up the phone would ring and they would take another call and help them, right in the middle of our check in!! Also we couldn't wait to get to the pool... it was closed for the day so they could paint the cement.. I don't understated why they chose to do this on a busy Friday when the hotel was SOLD OUT!! A/C wasn't working properly in the room so we had to sweat it out up on the 3rd floor.. I was so disappointed and we paid $179 for one night!!!

We were there for business purposes and this was a close by location. We again were looking forward to relaxing in the pool and spa but they were covered in plastic sheeting. Much construction and repairs going on. We understand that these things are necessary but when they are part of the advertisement, they should be available. This has ocured before in Lone Pine and after a long drive, it was a dissapointment.

Internet was very slow. Carpets in the room are old and dirty. Need to be replaced. Did not have a place to put my suitcase but on the floor. Access to the hotel was a little difficult. No microwave in room.

Excellent service from all Best Western Hotels, people are always friendly and helpful. I enjoyed my stayed, very clean and in order. Employees are helpful and go out of their way to meet expectations.

Great staff, comfortable and quiet rooms and fair price. Well-lit property with plenty of parking. They even throw in complimentary breakfast. Family friendly. The location is just off the freeway and easy to find. Can't ask for much more than that!

I get to the hotel a little before check in, the people at the front desk were really nice and let me check in early. The hotel on the outside and in was really great, clean, nice set up I felt really comfortable. The only bad thing was the housekeepers. I booked for 2 nights, and the first morning like around 10:30 the housekeeper knocks, I said come back later. 10 mins later shes knocking again, I said please, come back later. About 11:15 she knocks AGAIN! I said I'm not ready yet, she then very rudely says hurry up and go your time is up. I told her I had the room for 2 nights, she then proceeded to call the front desk, and a minute later my room phone rings. Its the front desk asking if I want housekeeping.I told her I would be going out in about 30 min. That was the last I heard. So that was the only bad thing, it did upset me that the maid was so rude when I paid for 2 nights, and because of that, I might not go back to that hotel, there are plenty in that area and I dont need a rude housekeeper when Im tryin to enjoy my vacation.

We love staying here. It's very quiet and has breakfast. Right off the 8 and a couple minutes to the 5. Always very clean. friendly accommodating staff. parking is not an issue. About 20 minutes from Imperial Beach which is nice and quiet not full of tourists

We enjoyed are stay at the Best Western. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The only complaint would be the noisy neighbors but that usually is unavoidable. The breakfast was nice and very convenient. I would stay here again.

The hotel need a lot of tlc. Clean shower, toilet and fix water pressure. Our room needed fumigating. Didn't smell clean. The lady attending breakfast was very helpful and dedicated to her work. Checking in at night was a very unwelcoming.

With unfortunate timing the hotel was experiencing maintenance problems which displaced us from our needed 2 queen bed rooms to one queen bed rooms. (Alternative was one king smoking room.) I agreed to stay as the manager agreed to discount 50%of the price the first night and be charged for the price of a single bed per room. Two of my family members had to stay at a different location. The staff was unable to provide me with a written breakdown of charges however the manager verbally promised me appropriate charging. The second night we received a two queen bed room and kept the one queen bedroom. Subsequently I was still charged the full price of $199.00 per night without discount or appropriate charging. I paid more for less with broken promises.

I have been staying here for the last few weekends as i was visiting family in San Diego and Christmas shopping and have always had a good experience in my stays. Their rooms are brand new and the beds are super comfortable. I spent hours streaming Netflix taking advantage of their free and reliable signal. There is also free parking but my favorite is their location a 2 minute drive from the border and Plaza las Americas shopping outlets also with a 24 hour convenience store right next door and 24 hour Mexican food around the corner. All the staff here is very customer service oriented and always willing to go above and beyond. Almost forgot to mention their breakfast, amaaaaazing, they serve homemade chilaquiles on weekends! Hands down the best in town.

Heater unit not working and was very cold. Breakfast was very simple and coffee was terrible. Just the honest truth. I will not consider staying here again. Please upgrade this hotel. Best western you are better than this.

Sorry to say we were in town for a family funeral. When possible we like to stay at Best western. I was looking for a hotel that was close to the Mortuary, Church and Cemetery.. This motel was right of the freeway and not more than 10min from our destinations. Even though we were right next to the freeway there was not any trouble with noise except that the trash truck showed up early to pick up the dumpster. when in Chula Vista will definitely stay here again.

Unfortunately this hotel is right off the freeway and my room was on the third floor, facing the freeway. The freeway noise was non-stop both day and night. I remedied this by putting music on, and earbuds in. Upon entering the room, there was a faint "stale" odor that was difficult to air out. The room was comfortable overall. Plenty of pillows. A refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker. Plenty of tv stations to choose from and Maria at the front desk was quite accommodating for an extra late check out. Also note that the rooms open to the outdoors (no inside hallway security). The pool and jacuzzi at this time of the year are mostly in the shade except for early morning (and also experience high volume of freeway noise). Breakfast was sufficient.

The check in process was very easy and accommodating. It was nice to see someone really helpful not last time we check in. The appearance of the Hotel was nice. Stayed one night for a family visit , we were facing the fwy. on the upper level which wasn't the problem . We had noise from people talking all night out side our door I don't think anyone slept ,smoking and loud . We had requested a micro wave which was not in our room .And at 11pm I was not going to have them bring us one when we got back form our visit . The breakfast was good but not enough for the amount of people. And not enough room . The one and only person tried her best and she was helpful

Good breakfast but little more crowded around 9 am. Stay was good and we had excellent comfort. Room was spacious clean and nice décor. We loved the breakfast area and got the grab and go brown bag, that was a good perk.

This hotel was further out of the way from San Diego, but we got for the lower price. The hotel rates closer to San Diego are insane. I think this hotel is one of the better locations out this way. It is off the highway, but quiet. The staff are friendly. The breakfast is included, and it is pretty good: scrambled egg patties, sausages, cereal, yoghurt, beans, breads. There is no elevator to the second floor rooms, so be prepares to carry luggage up there. Our only problem was that they gave us a smoking room (room 138) when we specifically requested non-smoking. It was the only one left. There were ashtrays in the room. You could smell cigarette smoke as soon as you enter the room. We requested to change rooms the next day as soon as someone else checked out. But the damage was done. All our clothes reaked of cigarrette smoke for the rest of the week.

This is my 3rd visit to this hotel. Relatives from San Antonio, TX visit my cousin who lives in Chula Vista every other year. This is a great location that I stay while visiting everyone. The first couple times no complaints. The day my husband and I checked in we went to our room and right when we open the door we were hit with very heavy cigarette smoke. Smelled pretty bad. Also it was on the 3rd floor closest to the freeway and it was loud. Called the front desk right away and they changed our room right away. The new room was on the other side of the hotel and more quiet. They have a nice complimentary breakfast. There were enough choices to choose from. When we returned late that night the room just did not feel that clean. Early the next morning we notice they did not clean up the “coffee area” in our room. Also did not refill cups or the coffee. It was too early for their complimentary breakfast to get a cup of coffee. Housekeeping also didn't leave wash cloths. Remote control quit working. We did leave a note before we left for the day of all the things that needed to be done. We did return late again and everything was done that was on the list. Room was so much cleaner than it was the previous day. It's an older hotel that could use some remodeling. Overall the staff is very nice.

Just an average overpriced hotel but closest to Sleep Train Amphitheatre. Warning: This is a smoking facility so be sure you ask for a non-smoking room! Check to see if there is a concert when you are coming for easier check in. Comfy bed but not a place you want to hang out at for several days for a vacation.

This "Plus" BW location is definitely not at a Plus level - more like a Minus! The basic structure of the hotel - outside balcony room access - reduces privacy and security to questionable levels (note: all regular BW locations at which I've stayed have interior hall room access)! And the street access is from a next door gas station where the street curb cut is very difficult to see! Fortunately, the front desk and other staff are very friendly and helpful! Nevertheless, I will not be staying at this location again!

Room was very hot when we checked in. they put another A/C in and it seemed fine. we went to see our show and got back at 11:30pm and our room was warm again. terrible night of Sleep!! When I went down to tell them about the A/C I got stuck in the elevator for about 6 minutes, kept pressing the door open button and it finely let me out..It never did go down though. Walked down stairs to get a Coke out of the vending machine and it took my money, gave me my change, and never got my Coke. I booked this hotel on-line it asked me how many adults I replied 3.... the next morning we only had towels for 2 people to take a shower. poor attention to details... this hotel needs new management! Mold in the corners of the shower. I will never stay at this hotel ever again in this Lifetime !!

I had by far the worst hotel experience ever with this hotel. I would give negative stars if I can. I found this hotel through Priceline Express Deal. If you are familiar with this, you are basically pre-paying for your room. Since I was traveling with my daughter, I also confirmed my reservation the night before. Then when I got there, the front desk told me that my reservation has been cancelled and they do not have a room for me. Since I prepaid and also confirmed my reservation the night before, this was very disturbing news and asked for an explanation. All they can tell me is that according to their computer, the reservation has been cancelled. So then I called the Priceline for a help and they told me that the room got cancelled because the hotel overbooked the room. But the hotel claimed that they are full and refused help. It is quite obvious to me that since the Priceline price was lower than the actual room price, when a new guest whom they can charge money arrived, they cancelled my reservation without informing me. This is a very appalling practice and needs to be stopped immediately. They are putting their guests' safety to make a few more bucks. I also have filed a complaint with the Best Western, as well as the Priceline.

Dear Guest, I would like to offer an apology for the negative experience you had. I am certain that something other than cancelling a reservation because of the room price, happened. As this is not a practice for us. We hope you give us another chance to demonstrate that we can exceed your expectations.

My experience is probably influenced by the price I paid for this hotel, which I felt was fair for the services offered, but at the same time I saw the property charging much more for a room, which might come as too expensive and bring dissapointed reviews. I found the room clean and efficient, with minor maintenance issues - running toilets/faucets and noisy AC unit. The later came out handy to block to noise from the highway. To be next to a highway ramp is good from driving perspective, but brings noise at night - pick your poison. The breakfast options offered are decent, but the breakfast room is rather small, especially on a Sunday morning, when everybody shows up for breakfast before checking out. Overall, I saw the staff really trying hard to do what they can, but it appeared they are a bit understaffed for the property. PS - I loved the complimentary baked cookies at the front desk.

The price was great, the front desk was great, breakfast was pretty good but the room felt a bit crammed and stuffy, and I wondered how clean it was. I've never been one to allow bare feet in hotel rooms, but one of my boys decided not to wear his sandals in the room and his feet got really dirty!!! I think I will only stay again if I don't take my boys.

This is the first hotel in Chula Vista that I stay that has a fast Wifi. It is located off the I-805 so the location is good but it may be a little noise. I got a room in the first floor and when I opened the door there was a terrible sewer smell. After insist with the reception they changed me to the 3rd floor. The room is a little dark but it is clean. Clean towels and some toiletries. The room has fridge and microwave. The breakfast is average with some mexican dishes. Overall, it is well located, clean but maybe expensive for what it offers.

Stayed for a concert at the sleeptrain amphitheater and got this because it was close. There were marks on the walls, ink and marker stains on the bedspreads and hair in the sheets. Didn't try the free breakfast but my son did and said it wasn't good. Wouldn't stay here again

Horrible!!! The air conditioner in the room was broken. Asked for another room was told there weren't any. After a couple hours the room was so hot and stuffy we couldn't breathe. I called the front desk at 2am to ask for another room once agin and was told without hesitation the room two doors down was available. In the morning while showering the maid attempted to let herself in. Had that extra lock that doesn't allow the door to open more than a few inches weren't on, she would have walked right in. When checking out I was never asked how the visit was. I had to tell them about the two incidents. I was given $20 off my stay. I guess $20 is something. Had I not been lied to in the first place about there being no other rooms available and lost almost 5 hours of sleep, I probably wouldn't have been so upset about the maid trying to come in. While checking out the front desk let me know we the complementary breakfast was located. We went in to grab a piece of fruit and juice. After grabbing a banana I was immediately approached by a staff and was told I could not eat because the breakfast closes at 9:45 and it was already 9:40. Now that was the straw that broke the camels back. While walking out I passed right by the front desk and let the manager know I was told we couldn't eat. He just stood there in silence.

Our toilet seat was broken, could not even flush toilet paper! There was pieces of food in the microwave. The wall by the hand towel was filthy we complained 2xs the last time they said that they would let the manager know. with no result. There was mold forming on the ceiling above the shower. We were gone most of the day when we went to take a shower the next morning we found that we had no towels, later we got bath towels(after complaining) but only one hand towel and wash cloth. Breakfast was hit and miss. Sometimes no tongs for dishing up, no glasses for the cold drinks, no fruit, no yogurt, and usually until later in the morning no beans and egg dish. We got excuses from "we ran out to I don't know where they are" Stay at the La Quinta Inn down the road

Good but not great. The room is a little dated but clean. There was a flat screen TV, mini frig, microwave, and coffee maker. The bed was comfortable. The maid staff cleaned the room beautifully each day. The free breakfast was average. We could hear the family next door talking and watching TV. The hotel has outdoor corridors. You did hear music and conversations in the parking lot. The staff was plentiful and very pleasant. Overall a good stay.

Our stay at The Best Western Plus was peaceful. The staff were very pleasant and very friendly. The rooms were clean and well equipped. Very little noise issues. The continental breakfast was not bad. I'm glad we decided to stay at Best Western.

We enjoyed our stay here. The room was comfortable and modern. The staff was phenomenal. The breakfast was ok, but I can't complain. You are very close to the expressway and Mexico. The San Diego area is beautiful and a great place for a vacation anytime of the year. Chula Vista is a nice city, but not as scenic as San Diego. I'd stay here again.

Room was average, service people rarely acknowledge you, police went through parking lot checking ALL license plates which was ODD! My bathroom door lock was broke and almost wouldn't let me out, the TV was stuck on Blind mode! Other than that, this place ok average if you just want to sleep. The comp breakfast is sad! Disc shaped eggs and sausage! LOL

I travel to SD every 2-4 weeks to see my ailing mom in National City. I usually stay at a Best Western Plus in National City, but it was full this trip. I thought another BW Plus would work out. This was a VERY poor substitute. The toilet kept threatening to flood because it wouldn't go down fast enough (finally had to call maintenance who used a plunger to fix it) and the floating mechanism in the toilet kept sticking which meant I had to lift the lid and manually fix it at least 4 times during a 3-day trip. The internet was great at first, then kept knocking me off for some reason. The breakfast was not great (for example, no cream or milk, just artificial creamers for the coffee and the pastries were dry and old). The cable had a basic version of cable (though it did have HBO), so I couldn't watch AMC (Walking Dead) and for some reason ABC didn't work at all. I prefer hotels where the doors are inside the building that way nobody passes by your windows; instead this is an old motel building where you have to keep your curtains closed if you don't want people walking by to see inside. In fairness, this is good motel. It felt safe and the staff were nice. It's like Motel 6 with an ok breakfast. I would say this was the most disappointing hotel I've stayed in for many, many years.

The location is convenient because it is right off of I-805 and very close to the Sleep Train Amphitheater where we attended a concert. The breakfast was nice and the price was very reasonable. The front desk people were friendly, but the room was in an average condition.

Stayed here with a friend while going to a concert down the road. We booked online a month prior and had no trouble with the check-in, it was quick and easy. Room was nice and clean as well. Had no noise issues other than the fact that our room faced the freeway so there was definite road noise however, that really wasn't a big deal. Checkout was quick and easy the next morning as well. The next concert we go to we will be coming back here again.

The staff from checking to housekeeping to maintenance were exemplary. They went out of their way to make our experience comfortable. We stay in the property for 10 or more days when we visit twice a year. Being loyal Best Western customers we found this property lived up to it's advertisement. It's location is very good, close to shopping and restaurants. Driving to any facility is a given in the San Diego area as is in any metropolis.

This an older hotel very convenient I-805 access, clean, friendly staff, great breakfast bar, and safe. We make this trip every year to visit my wife's mother and sister and have stayed at this hotel about 12 times and will probably stay here next year.

Overall experience was very good & would tell family/friends to consider this hotel. This is not our first time in BW. First time was not as good & have improved a lot. Breakfast was very good except for the boiled eggs which was a little sour & hard. Didn't bother to ask why since there are other choices. There were other fruits even though bananas ran out. Ventillation in our room was weak & didn't bother to report.

I stayed for 4 nights at this hotel. The room had a microwave and a fridge. There is a circle K next door so you can buy drinks and snacks to stuff your fridge. Down on Palm Avenue if you take the 805 South there is a Walmart, Vons, McDonalds, etc. The Mexican restaurant next door takes only cash. It's very close to both hospitals - Sharp and Scripps. The room can be very well lighted and during the day, you can block the light out with the blinds and curtains. Parking is tough sometimes if you come back during the evening shifts. The carts can be a little loud during the day while you sleep - it doesn't warrant to decrease the rating. If you are going solo- business style - my recommendation is to bring your own shampoo/conditioner, toothbrush/toothpaste, nice body wash, a plush blanket, microwavable meals, and sunblock. I am booking to stay here again and I hope to re-live the quality experience.

We were very pleasantly surprised. Room was clean, nicely decorated, beds VERY comfortable, consistently friendly staff. The included deluxe breakfast was actually much nicer than I had thought it would be - some of those things can be pretty awful. But this one had eggs, bacon, sausage, waffles, a good selection of nice breads/bagels, etc. The fruit selection was minimal, which is a shame in CA, but overall we enjoyed the breakfast. On Sunday they even brought out what seemed to be a "Sunday special" extra of chilequiles and beans. Very comfortable hotel for the price and nicely updated rooms. I would suggest if you are a light sleeper that you ask for a room on the side away from the freeway as it is rather close (which is handy if you have to drive around a lot as we did).

This hotel is just okay. It was clean but a little run down. The area is convenient since it is right off the freeway. Had a lot of construction workers who had rooms by us and when they left in the morning, around 6am, they were extremely loud which woke me up. The beds were comfortable. This is an okay stay if you are looking for one or two nights.

Ok I stayed 2 nights earlier this month in March 2016, so this is my review of Best Western Plus Otay, Chula Vista, Cali... PROs: - Located in a fairly NEW n somewhat safe neighborhood (although industrial area) - Awesome excellent n great customer service - FREE Wifi n adequate/fast internet speeds (or included in price/rate) - Fairly NEW hotel n very clean throughout - Nice new/clean room w/small refrigerator microwave small coffee pot in bathroom but didn't use it - TV n lots of channels a big plus since we don't have cable @home - NO resort fees - FREE parking (or included in price/rate) - Pool fitness center n business Ctr (open area) are clean but did NOT use any of these - I really like the FREE daily breakfast (or included in price/rate) bcuz saved $$ n all/most items fresh. Hot foods were HOT n cold foods were COLD. Coffee is pretty good n my fav are the hot cinnamon rolls bcuz they're awesome! - Bed was very comfortable n slept like a baby - Water pressure very good n really like the large shower head. - Fan in bathroom a big plus. - FREE fruit bowl in lobby a big plus - The room was kind of spacious n clean - A/C (wall unit) worked very well. It was cold one day so heater worked good too. - I have asthma n bad allergies n stayed in a non-smoking room so had NO problems breathing whatsoever. CONs: - TV remote volume was a lil tricky but figured it out quickly - Minor: (No fault of hotel). No street lights driving up to hotel so it was a lil scary driving up to hotel but felt pretty safe as I got close to hotel though bcuz lots of lights surrounding hotel. - Minor: Toll fees on 125 freeway it was (I think) $3.00 each way one-way so (I think) I paid $6.00/day total for toll fees but again this is NO fault of the hotel. U can take back roads to avoid these toll fees but it was easier for me to take the freeway tho. Overall YES absolutely I would definitely stay here again for either business or leisure/personal reasons and would highly recommend it to others in the future bcuz as much as I'd hate to admit it, I'm a bit of a hotel snob n this Best Western Otay hotel exceeded all/most of my expectations. I believe for the low-cost/price, it's the best kept SECRET in Chula Vista or San Diego, Cali.

This is a nice, well kept older hotel that is very convenient to attractions in the southern end of San Diego. It is very near the water park. The hotel has been updated and is nice and clean. I would definitely stay there again. The breakfast room is nice and they have a self-serve full breakfast offered that is included with the room. Great for business travelers and for young families.

The hotel is just off the freeway and was minutes away from where I needed to be. My wheelchair accessible room was perfect! They are usually a hit or miss for me, but this room was spot on. Comfortable bed, good television reception, the lobby was clean and the breakfast was good. I won't hesitate going back.

If your ever in town (Best Western PLUS Otay Valley Hotel, Chula Vista, CALIFORNIA) I highly Recommend This Hotel. Great service Great Staff. They do have smoking rooms if that's the only room available and you don't smoke I would recommend to take it. The cleaning staff does one hell of a job Cleaning those rooms I don't smoke and I had to take one of the smoking room ,I was very impressed of how clean the room was. The room did not smell like smoke. Great job Cleaning crew.

Best Western Plus Otay Valley Hotel is an excellent choice. The best value for the money. Very clean and comfortable rooms, very good and abundant breakfast, very courteous and professional personnel, which took also care of my forgotten items that I could retrieve at a later date. It was my second stay at this facility and it was at the same good level. I strongly recommend it.

Having stayed at the BW Otay Mesa several times, I can say it's convenient, quiet and clean. It's located in close proximity to the Mexican border as well as San Diego attractions. The breakfast is generous, although the room is crowded. Staff is friendly and helpful.

Quite nice. Staff are excellent & breakfast has just about anything you would want. The breakfast room is well looked after, clean and continually checked for food & cleanliness. Anything out of working order was attended to immediately or within a short time. Location was good, close to I-805, making it easy to go either to San Diego, San Yisdro or Chula Vista town. Always ask for a room on the quiet side as the other side faces I-805, a bit noisy.

Room was clean and beds were comfortable. This trip there was a long delay checking in but I have stayed here before and didn't have this issue. Close to the freeway yet relatively quiet. I have stayed here before and it has been a good experience all other times.

One evening, mid-week at approximately 6:30 PM, my family and I found ourselves displaced from our home for a couple of days minimum. The neighborhood Best Western Plus quickly came to mind. It was convenient. I checked with reservations and found that, to our good fortune, a couple of adjacent rooms were available. We took them. Upon arrival, we were pleasantly surprised. We did not expect a 4- or 5-star experience. Still, we needed the place to be clean and comfortable. It was. The rooms smelled a "little stuffy" upon entry. However, a quick application of the air conditioner in the room and that issue was resolved. Parking was ample and readily accessible to the stairway leading to our rooms. The lighting was adequate (at least in area of the facility where we were domiciled). We felt safe transferring from our automobile to the rooms. The hotel offers a continental breakfast, quick check-out and a clean, well-kept pool area for the kids. If you are the late-night snacker type, an AM-PM Mart is right next door. We filled up on chips and sodas (and other things that may not have been good for our waistlines). Room assignments are key to dealing with Interstate/highway traffic noise. The busy roadway is to the east of the property. If possible, ask for accommodations on the SouthWest side of the property. If you are a "light-sleeper," you'll be glad you did! The one positive to the noise is that the hotel is just off I-805 at Main Street. Access is therefore simple and easy. My family and I would like to say "thank you" to the Best Western Plus for being our "home away from home" during our time of need! My son even offered: "I slept like a baby." For the cost, it doesn't get much better than that!

The motel itself is ok, rooms are clean, staff are friendly. I've stayed here 3 times and the noise has always been bad -I just forget and come back. Seems to really be a party place. People smoking weed and yelling in the parking lot at night.

So I booked my room the Monday of the week we were staying and the room I was told was 169.00. I tried to get a cheaper rate but they wouldn't budge. Checked in and they lowered it a little bit then my friend told me he got the room for 103.00 a night they refused to do anything. The rooms smell the tv didn't work the air conditioning didn't work and again they didn't care. They ran out of towels and wash cloths !!! Find another place to stay!!!

I was not expecting a five star hotel experience… what I received was a clean friendly place that met my needs and gave me value for what I spent. The jacuzzi was well maintained and available as needed. Thank you everyone involved… good job.

Best Western is usually the hotel we stay in on trips besides Las Vegas. Normally we are very happy but not this time. Had some issues and hopefully a one-time happening. Maid didn't show up one day. Noisy. Won't hold this visit against Best Western.

Clean room, great breakfast options and kind staff. The location is OK. It is near the border but not too many options to eat out (a Mexican and an Italian restaurant close by). The pool was a bit small but nice for a hot day.

AC problems, cleanliness and while it seemed they were fixing many of these problems, there was construction going on everywhere... Also, not much effort into the breakfast selections like there are at other BW hotels. Minimal here, at best.

This hotel was good, clean, and it meet our needs. It's close to the freeway and gas station. The price was reasonable compared to other hotels. The staff was friendly. However, it is a run down for a Best Western Plus and definitely requires renovations in the rooms. My non-smoking room smelled like smoke, which was uncomfortable. Overall, it was a good experience and I would return again.
