SureStay by Best Western Chula Vista San Diego Bay

I stayed there the first week of January, they requested 100$ deposit so I gave them cash and got it back the next day. The week after, I went back there and the front desk told me I can not pay the deposit with cash. I explained to him that I don't have any credit cards with me and I only have cash. He told me that he could not check me in. A few minutes later, another guest come and payed cash in front of me for her room stay. I was shocked. I could not understand how, the front desk don't take cash for deposit but can take cash for room stay. The front desk explain to me that's the manager call. That was stupid and idiotic. I had to go to my bank to deposit money for him to take the deposit and check me in. He was going to cancel my stay. Also the ice machine room closed at 11 pm. You can not get ice or access the ice machine. It's ice not gold. I had to walk to the store in the dark, cold to get a bag of ice. The area is not that safe. I will not stay there no more. Best western should be ashamed of this property.

This is a good budget hotel that is very easy to access with San Diego public transportation trolley just a couple of blocks away to & from airport and to the Seaport. We stayed one night before taking a cruise. Front desk staff Jose & another nice gal very friendly & efficient. We took a room on top floor. Nice room with mini frig & microwave. There is a grocery store, restaurants, and good liquor store an easy couple of blocks away. And there are great walking trails fronting the Wild Life Refuge just a block past the train/trolley tracks towards the bay-beautiful at sunset. We found this hotel very adequate, comfortable, and clean for the price and the area did not have the homeless all around like when we have stayed in the Gas lamp district. Their continental breakfast is simple with cereals, toast, fruit & yogurt. I would recommend it.

The room itself looked like it was picked up and sheets were changed, but the shower was definitely not thoroughly cleaned and the fridge was also dirty. The room smelled musty as there was no humidity control. The "continental breakfast" was literally just bread and a stale pastry. No fruit, proteins, or cereal. The yogurt sitting on the counter was warm and not on ice.

Live and dead bugs in my first room, bathroom unclean. Front desk did not answer the service room call, called on my personal phone. Had to go to front desk to ask for a different room for me and my 3young children, one being an infant. The front desk guy told me his manager would be upset that he rearranged the room and was reluctant to provide another room. I expressed to this man he was speaking to me very unprofessionally. Told me not to complain about the second room if there was an issue. Second room reeked of bug spray, no AC on when entered, dead bugs in bed once again. Called to recieved money back but was told unable to and gave me points. This is unacceptable service. I would never recommend this place especially if you have kids. Breakfast was bagels, toast, and pastry with coffee cereal. BIG FAT ZERO ON ALL SCORING.

Overall the property is clean and maintained. It is not fancy, but is comfortable. Try to not get the 4 rooms on the front facing the street. 104 and 105, the two above them. Lots of street noise, buses. trucks, motorcycles, etc. this property has a continental breakfast, no hot food. Cearel, breads, bagels coffee and juice. Across the street is a pancake restuarant(not IHOP) serves good food, hot. Blueberry pancakes ask for the blueberry syrup. The San Diego Trolley system is an easy ten minute walk. Cheap all day fair, north to Gas Lamp District, Downton SD, Old town SD, Seaport village.

I have stayed in all the surronding hotels and this hotel is the best for the quality of stay vs the price. Its is close to all the destinations you would lok for in Chula Vista when searching on Google.

The night guy was awesome. Oh the Wi-Fi in the room I was in was spot on. The floors were nasty and you had to wear shoes or have black feet. The staff thought my child didn't understand Spanish and said she was trying to look like a boy.

The room was very dirty. The top sheet had some stains. There was an ant hill somewhere in the bathroom. Ants climbing the walls in the tub. The dead bird by one of the room doors that the staff had there cleaning cart near that they avoided for a couple days that I was there. It looked like it had been there for a while. It looked like it was starting to decay a little. And the tv did not work.

Needed a place to house renters while work was in progress on the rental house. Lovely staff were very helpful in making arrangements for a 4-day stay. Renters report the facility was very clean and bright. Very convenient and economical choice for housing them.Plenty of parking.

I showed up to check in and I was given a vacant room two times the worst service ever went back and the guy at the office made a big Storie that make my self even more furious will not stay or recommend this place

I like the property and the convenience and the staff is really friendly and the clean and they are helpful and nice. And like that speak Spanish I'm counting to stay there thanks so much to everyone and have a awesome day.

This hotel was decent. The area feels a little sketchier for my taste, but not horrible. I wish they gave you more towels in the room because two for one room feels quite small when there is also a pool. The breakfast was a little lackluster and I also had to wait over half an hour to check in because no one was at the desk. The service was nice and the housekeeper was a gem.

This place is just what you need if you want to just have a place that's clean, affordable and somewhat close accesible to most of what San Diego offers Imperial beach is just a quick drive from here and has lots of great spots to visit. Third Avenue Chula Vista is also very close with even more places to eat, shop and dine!

The carpet was dirty. Half of the curtain was missing. The bath tub was reglazed which caused it to be very slippery. I slipped and broke my left arm/wrist. They did not do a report of this incident even dough I told and showed my arm to the general manager Carlos A. Mendez.

Avoid at all costs. Paid with card when arrived, was told payment didn't go through but clearly debited my account. Had to pay again. Waited 7 hours for manager to arrive, assured me 2nd charge would not debit. It's still pending a week later. Promised would send email to confirm it wouldn't debit, after 3 requests I'm still waiting. When checking in, check in clerk kept making us wait to answer calls, 3 customers were told their bookings were cancelled as credit cards had declined. Very strange that everyone was having issues yet it was not Best Western that had an issue. Room very basic and dull decor. Wi-Fi was not existent, constantly disconnecting and very slow. Certainly not high speed! All staff including “manager Akshay” were very defensive when raising issues and borderline argumentative. They clearly only like it if you keep quiet and say nothing. Only positive was free parking. Avoid at all costs if I were you.

Stay away from this hotel and 'horribbile, I took a room after two hours I saw cockroaches, I asked the guy to change room and' was rude, I had to wait 2 hours, I did not sleep practically, in the morning the manager told me after 30 minutes that he would give me the money back but it was not so. After two weeks I called and the rude young lady told me I wouldn't get the money back. Don't go for any reason to this hotel if you don't want to sleep With cockroaches, I have if you do not want to waste time with the guy who works at night, I have if you do not want to be teased by the lying manager. I don't understand why this company doesn't send these people home and there are so many good people around.

We stayed here while visiting the San Diego Zoo and Sea World. The rooms were clean. Bathrooms were okay. The breakfast was the usual cereal, oatmeal, yogurt, bagels, coffee, toast and juice. Ala carte. This hotel has excellent soundproofing. There was a clanging trolley a few blocks away that was greatly muffled in the room. It smells like Black Angus Steak House is just next door (it is). Many places to eat in the area, along with many stores and gas stations. Staff was no where to be seen, but anything we needed was provided by the front desk person. I would stay here again.

I should have stayed at a shelter instead that would have been cleaner. Bed sheets & pillow cases were dirty. I asked for an extra bed sheet but they didn't have any extras. Receptionist handed me pillow cases instead. Shower water pressure sucked too.

Hotel itself was standard this visit. Room was comfortable. Cleaning needed improvement. Standard toiletries provided. Big issue with this hotel is the lack of phones in the rooms. The inability to call the front desk or 911 in an emergency is dangerous. Was told on a previous visit that upgrades were being made and the room I had without a phone was one of a limited number. Seems this continues to be a problem. Until this property can remedy this situation, stay elsewhere.

The staff are a great group of people . They go above and beyond to satisfy their guests. The hotel office and grounds were very clean. Room clean. They only complaint I have is the mattress you can feel the springs, very uncomfortable. The television is so small you need a pair of binoculars to view it. Other than those two setback. Everything was great. Also, you have the Black Angus steak house next door. Across the street is Dennys, plus you have the aquatic center 8 minutes walking from hotel.

The room was clean with a nice large TV and good cable with a very comfortable bed. A nice fridge and microwave and a great shower head. The front desk was very nice. Check-in was fast and a decent breakfast was served every day. Good location with several restaurants and a grocery store all whiten one block. Even the cleaning ladies and maintenance man were very friendly and helpful. The hotel has recently been updated under new management and is much better than when it was a Days Inn.

Found feces stains on the outside of toilet. I called front desk around 10pm, i was informed they would get to it in the morning, because they are understaffed just like everyone else is. Came back from work the following day to see housekeeping cleaning the room, which was promising, until i talked to housekeeping and they were not informed by anyone to clean the fecal matter. The manager was informed about this in the morning, I went to the front desk to talk to Carlos the manager and he was not "available", more like hiding behind the young lady behind the counter. This is not okay to have the rooms "sanitized" specailly during these times. If they cannot clean a toilet properly, what makes us belive that the rooms are sanitized properly. This falls on management for lack of training and/or follow through.

Front desk lies and steals. They took three hours to check in guests Friday February 11 so I canceled my reservation with the desk. Of course they are lying and saying they weren't incompetent at checking in 20 or so bikers and then lied to me saying they would cancel my reservation, then tagged me no show. This property is like a public toilet but smells worse.

The rooms were not vacuumed properly and hotel needs new furniture , bathtubs and showers. We didn't have coffee or tea available. No coffee machine in the rooms. The parking had suspicious activity at night.

I stayed here on Sept. 13-16; 2021. When I made the reservation I requested a rollaway bed. I was assured I would get it. When I checked in, I was told they don't do rollaways. No breakfast either. Their outside signage said free breakfast, but there wasn't any. No coffee maker. No housekeeping. Grounds are dirty. Homeless people are encamped in parking lot. I felt unsafe. No front desk, only night window, all day, all night. No security
