"Highly recommend"
ClumsyBlonde, 05 Avril 2024

We loved this hotel and would definitely stay here again. We had a beautiful suite on the 6th floor which was a lovely size and in great condition. It had everything we needed, tea and coffee facilities, hairdryer, shampoo & conditioner, dressing gowns and slippers! The room was warm enough and we slept well. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and made us feel so welcome. There is tea, fresh coffee and pastry/muffin treats available in the lobby all day for guests. The breakfast buffet was incredible, I ate something different every day and still had things I wanted to try. The location is convenient for a local shopping mall and restaurants or hop on the bus/underground to visit the sites.

"Great home-based hotel for stockholm"
David H, 04 Octobre 2023

This hotel is a little bit away from the city center, but is conveniently located for your excursions into Stockholm. It is very close to the Karlaplan circle where there is a hop-on hop-off bus stop and a tube station. It is within an easy 20 minute walk to the Vasa museum and other places in that area. Also not too far from city center. The hotel room was comfortable and clean. The breakfast buffet was very nicely done with very tasty food and plenty of it. Many Swedish dishes. The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. One of the nice things is that at all times they have coffee and tea and small treats in the lobby that you can eat at all times during the day. They also will hold your luggage if you need to after check out. All in all, this was a very good hotel and I would highly recommend it.

"A great spot to stay."
kevin h, 16 Juin 2023

My overall experience was very good. Front desk was helpful with directions and suggestions. Room was nice. And quiet! Loved the breakfast. Lots of choices to satisfy most every taste. The hotel is centrally located near many museums and other attractions.

"Extreme minimalism"
David D, 28 Avril 2023

The hotel is located within walking distance of several landmarks, such as the old Olympic stadium and a music college. The lobby is taken up by breakfast tables and countertops. There are virtually no (as in two) comfortable chairs for relaxing. This latter point is important because the room was so small it could only fit a twin bed, a small narrow desk, and a desk chair, which hit the bed when pulled out from the desk. This is what Best Western calls a single room, which is correct, strictly speaking but it feels more like a cell than a room. There was no temperature control in the room except the window, and its position could not be controlled. But, it was discovered that the tile bathroom floor could be heated, a nice touch. The room was serviced every day by housekeeping, but all that was done was to refold the towels. Instant coffee and milk were not replenished, the cup was not rinsed or washed, trash was not emptied. The bed linens were not straightened. The breakfast was very generous, though. A lot of choices and plentiful. And it was available starting at 06.30.

"Cozy hotel in a quiet and nice neighborhood."
Anna G, 12 Mars 2023

Its a very cozy hotel, close to the city center, but not in the city center. Close to public transport that runs often. Nice, clean rooms and a very service minded staff. The breakfast is small, but with a very wide variety of things to choose from. can be highly recommended.

"Christmas in what was our favourite hotel..."
Italian007, 23 Décembre 2022

We've spent many Christmases here since 2007. It's amazing how different new staff can have on a favourite place. Instead of welcome back it was though we were staying for the 1st time....and thats after emailing to say we were heading back. We had a pooky room not even part of the main corridor... it was a door on the stairwell. We made it work for us even though we're here for a week. Everything else was much the same, a room, bed, shower with breakfast. Its tme for a change, I'll look for a new place to call home next Christmas. The lesson here is to look after repeat business.

"OK for the money. Breakfast good."
matsbrittberg, 25 Août 2022

the room was a bit oldish. . the bed was good and I slept well. I was lacking a safe box. Such a safe box should be included in all hotel rooms. The breakfast was fresh and what one could expect Staff friendly and helpful

"Small room, horrible bed"
172antonn, 05 Août 2022

This feels like a pretty lousy hostel but at hotel pricing. Small 90 cm bed, absurdly thin matrass, small room, no mini bar etc. This just feels like a youth hostel rathar than a proper hotel to be honest.

"OUTSTANDING BREAKFAST !"
DayTrip433312, 12 Juillet 2022

The self-serve buffet breakfast has an excellent variety of hot & cold items of all sorts, good quality coffee, fresh squeezed orange juice, pickled herring, ginger/chili shots (!), bacon, sausage & perhaps the best scrambled eggs I ever had after travelling to well over 100 countries over almost 50 years. The kitchen staff deserve a raise !

"nice hotel, with great location"
bjornkristjan, 28 Avril 2022

Hotel located in the "upscale" part of Stockholm, Östermalm. Close to one shopping mall, subway and the main shopping streets. Only 2 stops from Central railway station. Breakfast gets 100 points, I just LOVE the ginger-shots as the final twist after bacon and eggs! The room was very small, but I was on a business trip so no need for any fancy rooms.

"Good location, great breakfast etc."
fabio_shalkoni, 21 Avril 2022

Was very nice. Not the most modern hotel out there, but absolutely acceptable. Descent room size, did not feel like living in a closed unlike many other hotels. Breakfast was very good, staff was nice and helping. Location also very good, close to metro and everything you might need. Can also walk to the city, takes around 30 min, maybe less. Overall pleasant experience. And the pillows were good! Not like these awful synthetic ones they have in most of the hotels.

"Nice hotel in lovely area in Central Stockholm"
Feedbacks_PR, 23 Mars 2022

Myself and wy wife stayed in Hotel Karlaplan for 4 nights, on a recent trip to Stockholm, to visit our son who lives there. Check-in was fast, efficient and friendly. The lobby area is quite small, but acceptable in a city centre hotel. The first room we were given was exceptionally small, and we were moved to another room immediatley, after bringing this to the attention of the friendly reception staff. The rooms are quite small, and if we return, we would stay here again, but would pay extra for a larger room or suite. The breakfast was lovely with a wide selection of foods to cater for all. We will definitely stay here again.

"I Need acceptabel for some Days"
gerdipersson, 08 Janvier 2022

Exactly The hotell I was looking for. Really Lost in Stockholm. If You Need a reasonable Price, rest and calming for my tinnitus (highsensitive ears like my father) this is just perfekt to stay. On top of all a great breakfast. Now I am so happy and full power for this very important Day!

"Relaxed and luxurious weekend!"
AnnaW6066, 01 Juin 2021

I booked two nights for me and my son on recommendations from a friend I couldn't be more satisfied with our choice. From the friendly and professional front office staff (thank you Ida and Erik and the team), the super clean room(I'm in the hospitality industry myself so I'm checking every corner) with the most comfortable bed (we slept like logs and had our longest sleep in ever) to the delicious breakfast with smooth service, great protocol for sanitizing and discrete signs of keeping distance etc made us feel very safe. The location was perfect with walking distance to Skansen(if you like longer walks other wise walk 5-10minutes and take the tram), local playgrounds and off course restaurants and shopping. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone, single traveler, couples or families with young or old children - we are already planning our return! Many thanks to you all, stay safe and happy!

"The only place for me..."
G0rge0us0ne, 04 Novembre 2020

Covid times are hard times...we are all learning to make allowances and be kinder to ourselves and others...with or without covid....Karlaplan is the only place for me...location....customer service....cost....quality...its all there...with a kind of family feeling about it as well....thankyou so much...

"Not a 4 star hotel"
michaelgX5849WG, 29 Février 2020

I spent a week at this hotel which was reserved for me by my employer. The location is very convenient but the hotel is average as best. No lobby, as the space serves as a breakfast dining hall, no restaurant or room service. Rooms lack standard amenities such as an iron or even shampoo bottles. On the plus side, the room was perfectly clean and well tended throughout my stay.

"Average and affordable"
jasnajasnazmak, 23 Février 2020

The hotel is an affordable option for staying in Stockholm, with an underground stop on the red line three minutes away. Unfortunately, the rooms are too small, and way too cold, so all in all it's not too cosy at all! Also, the beds are uncomfortable and the wi-fi sometimes has problems. But at least it's clean and the breakfast is ok. I guess it's ok for a short stay if you don't plan on spending too much time in the room.

"Nice Hotel & Friendly Staff "
508raedk, 09 Janvier 2020

I stayed at Best Western Karlaplan for 4 nights. The Hotel is not luxurious, the reception area is small as well as the dining area, you may stay for a while till you see a seat at breakfast time. Room was nice and clean, but it has no Closet due to its diminished size. Warming is not properly functioning as they provide me with an extra small heater in the room. Breakfast was good with Varariety. I would like to pay Special Thanks to Joshaphine at the Front Desk Who was super helpful and gracious.

"Amazing"
G0rge0us0ne, 01 Janvier 2020

Amazing hotel with amazing staff, I have stayed many times and hope to stay many many times to come. Thankyou to the staff and the clientele for being so friendly and happy, and the kitchen staff for breakfast.

"Thank you"
Jeremy S, 31 Août 2019

I want to thank the staff of this excellent Hotel for their excellent service this week. Ida was particularly helpful when it came to the storage of our luggage as we had arrived early. We were a party of one Adult and two Children. All other aspects of the stay were extremely good and the room and location excellent. The location is fairly central being close to the T-Metro with easy access to most parts of central Stockholm.

"Decent accomodation"
IntoTheNorth, 25 Août 2019

Located in a rather quiet side street, but close to Karlaplan metro station. Economy room was very small indeed and slightly shabby, but comfortable and clean enough. Breakfast is actually better and with more choices than I first thought, as the buffet's presentation is unassuming. I liked it. Decent hotel. Still, I think it was a bit on the pricey side for what the room had to offer.

"Quiet neighborhood"
cristoph2010, 17 Juillet 2019

The hotel is located minutes from Karlaplan station (2-3 minutes walk) so it's really convenient. The receptionists are very knowledgeable about the area and Stockholm in general. I love their free coffee, snacks and fresh fruits at all time. The breakfast is quite descent with several types of bread, hard boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, juices, coffee, tea, sausages, fried veges, cereals, three types of cold cuts, liver paté and fresh fruits every morning. The standard single bed room is like a monastic cell so there's not much room. If you're claustrophobic, this is not for you. The bathroom is quite clean. There is a mall near by with a good selection of stores, restaurants and cafes. It's a quiet neighborhood, which I liked.

"Friendly, comfortable, recommended"
ZiggyTheBlue, 20 Juin 2019

Having booked the hotel, then read the reviews we were a little apprehensive about what might await us during our three-day stay. But, as the heading of this review suggests, we had a great time. We found the staff friendly and helpful - they are politely unintrusive, but really respond positively - beyond the call of duty - when you ask for help or advice. Breakfast was complementary and excellent - a hot and cold buffet. A mountain of biscuits and liquorice tempts passersby in the lobby. The room was fine - a good size with all the elements needed for a comfortable stay. The location is also excellent. While Stockholm is very spread out over a number of islands, you can easily walk down to the main shore with all the elegant buildings and shops. The Karlaplan metro is a hundred metres away, and takes you anywhere you want to go. It is clean and fast. Just near the hotel is an excellent bar/restaurant (the Kontoret Bar & Matsal) - great for a cheese platter and beer, and one street further is one of the finest restaurants in the city - Paraden on Vallhallagatan. All in all, we felt happy and at home at the Hotel Karlaplan.

"Incredible small rooms"
Vacation19616573575, 13 Juin 2019

Booked two double rooms for a tree night stay, and received two incredible small rooms with beads that at best could be described as large single beds. If you are single and want a hotel close to the city center this will work, if you are a family or a couple - look for something different.

"Nice clean quiet near good restaurants and good communications."
M5137MEmaries, 09 Juin 2019

Rather small rooms but very nice beds. Nice breakfast and very serviceminded staff. Close to good restaurants and easy to go by car. Also nearby buses and underground. A simple but very nice hotel. Our second time there.

"Love it"
NorthStar53790605450, 19 Mai 2019

Cant say anything negative. From the receptionist to the food to check out. It was smooth. Price was worth it for sweden. Would certainly come back. My room has no window because it was the cheapest, but it was fine ventilation was ok and emergency instructions are in place.highly recommended

"Lovely breakfast and good location"
g_risp, 19 Mai 2019

Stayed for 3 nights last month with 2 friends in a triple room. The check in was easy and good recommendations from the lady who checked us in. Room on the top floor was spacious and clean. Good sized bathroom. The highlights were the good breakfast each morning and the biscuits / pastries / fresh coffee available free of charge at reception 24/7!

"OK...but....."
HansA164, 08 Mai 2019

Nice and friendly staff. My single room was the smallest I've ever experienced. Could be OK but fony drawers and no place to put and hang your suits is a problem. But; The total disaster is the breakfast area. It's to small and to close between the tables. Got peoples arses in my face when they tried to navigate throgh the area. And the staff have problems cleaning tables in an easy way. Breakfast OK but made without hart. The scrambled eggs was uneatable... Good standard and clean but I will probably book another hotel next time mainly due to the breakfast area...

"Who gave this hotel 4 stars?!"
natalijag2013, 20 Mars 2019

It's extremely dissapointing hotel: extremely small rooms, stinky bathroom, no amenities: no fridge, no lotion, no shampoo, really, but really bad bed. For the price of the normal hotel with 4 stars you can hardly believe where you came! In the city center and nearby colleagues have got much better beds, bigger rooms, and they have fridge, shampoo and lotion! Some of them even slippers! And - they pay the same pr less. Shame for the City of Stockholm and Sweden. Can't wait to go home and have a proper sleep!

"Business trip in Sweden"
Venture0048300185, 27 Décembre 2018

Good Hotel, not excellent; Definetely great spot considering that is in downtown and pratically close to the main historical area. Small bedroom, and not very comfortable. Good breakfast and good people at the reception; good idea to take a cup of coffee every time. Suggested

"Felt unwelcome and frowned upon and had to pay for that experience!"
Umi D, 26 Décembre 2018

At first walking in I thought what a nice hotel even though the garden and surrounding area wasn't what I expected. I also thought the lady at reception was very professional and nice. After coming back from having a meal and having an awful experience at a restaurant of a masoganistic waiter who was very rude to me I come back and get the most awful welcome of two girls glaring at me at reception and was spoken to me very disaprovingly. I havent done anything wrong and have been very polite. I called reception when I was stuck with door a few times but I even apologised each time. I was also told to not walk around the hotel as I had dirty shoes!! How can I not walk around if I need to go somewhere or need something that's ridiculous although I apologise I felt very cold feeling of unwelcome and I will not be coming back I should have to pay for this treatment. I retreated to my room and feel uncomfortable to be outside. Male receptionist was also very cold with me when I mentioned this to him.

"Good location, small room"
LynsFrostee, 16 Septembre 2018

This hotel is in a great location for all of the main sites in Stockholm, yet despite being so central it's still in a really peaceful area. Perfect. The room was a tad on the small side though. I could barely walk down the gap between the wall and the bed. For 2 people it's a bit of a squish. The bathroom was okay and overall the facilities did the job but it's definitely nothing special. It was a pretty good price compared to other Stockholm hotels though so I guess you get what you pay for. The breakfast offerings were good with cold and hot options and plenty to go round. All in all a pretty good little find but not exactly a romance hub if that's what you're looking for.

"Business trip"
linam839, 08 Septembre 2018

Spent two nights in the hotel. The room was quite small and a bit run down. The shower was dripping and there was big marks in the sink. The breakfast selection was ok but the coffee was not nice. The area is nice and quiet yet close to the centre of Stockholm. It's an ok hotel but nothing out of the ordinary.

"I would recommend this place for friends"
Irenka_Sadowska, 30 Août 2018

+We stayed in a "queen-size" room for 1 night. There were many opinions with complains about the room size, but actually there is enough space for two people. The bathroom is very comfortable, shower door is waterproof, so there is no water on the floor. Few towels for every person are icluded in price. Breakfast is just fantastic - you have lots of dishes to choose. There is also an old elevator inside the building and it works! Thanks for reception stuff - friendly and helpful. -Cleaning stuff should be a bit more careful about curtains and dust on dark surfaces. Towels are originally dark, so they look like clean (actually they were - according to fresh smell). There is a little bit strange numbering of floors in new elevator, but it did not cause any trouble.

"What a find!"
keepmovin63, 24 Août 2018

This is a really nice hotel, a little out of the center of town but still well located. It is at the end of a cul-de-sac, so there is very little traffic noise, even with rooms overlooking the street - which you should request. The hotel is actually larger than it looks. The bedrooms are not huge but is large by European standards; it is plenty roomy. The bathroom is a nice size, too, but a table or some kind of shelf in the bathroom would be so nice. There is no place to sit your cosmetics bag. The room and bathroom were very clean and the staff were considerate in arranging to get the room cleaned promptly after we would leave each day. Breakfast is very good, with fresh cooked scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, etc., along with all the standard European breakfast foods: veggies, sliced ham, cheeses, and a wide selection of breads. Oatmeal and dry cereals, too, and plenty of fruit. TIP: Go to breakfast early; the breakfast room fills up as time goes along. We can't say enough about how helpful were the front desk staff. They were so knowledgeable and would quickly find out any information requested. They were better than the concierge in most hotels. A taxi to the harbor cost about $20, but the bus stop is nearby and the subway station is an easy walk and is a top rated system. For the price, this hotel is as good as it gets in Copenhagen.

"Good for a week"
Nilelynch, 19 Août 2018

Stayed here for 2 weeks, which was probably too long if I'm honest. The hotel isn't set up for long-term stays. However really can't complain, the staff were excellent and always helpful. The room was always clean on my return from work. However, a lack of a fridge or anything else that would make a long-term stay easier. Stops me giving this a 5.

"Small rooms "
Monica O, 19 Août 2018

We spent one night at this hotel. The room was incredibly small, and the bed occupied the entire space. There was not room enough for a large suitcase. There was no bar at the hotel and they did not serve any alcohol. Not even a beer. It was difficult to find parking for our car.

"Perfect located, good service and decent pricing"
Magnus K, 09 Août 2018

We had booked a double room for our french friend for a couple of days. A couple of days before their arrival, we checked the booking - it said cellar floor! This was not what we wanted, so we went there to see what to do. A very service oriented person at the check in desk took us to have a look at the rooms on the cellar level. The first one she showed was very nice. She offered directly to reserve it and our friends were very satisfied. The hotel is very well located in a calm area of Östermalm, still very close to the city center of Stockholm, underground (T-bana) sightseeing buses etc.

"Will go back"
FilipaDaniela, 10 Juillet 2018

The hotel was a surprise, the surrounding area is quite and quite near public transportation. The room was spacious enough for twin beds and it was cleaned on a daily basis. The breakfast was good and the staff very friendly and professional.

"Lovely place to stay"
armrestdominance, 27 Juin 2018

Great hotel. Our room was small, but ok for a couple of nights. The hotel is a distance from the Gamla Stan, but only a very short trip on the metro. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Fantastic breakfast and there's biscuits, fruit, lollies, cinnamon cake and tea, coffee and hot chocolate available throughout the day. The surrounding area is quite nice to walk around and see a local neighbourhood. There's a large shopping centre above the Karlaplan metro stop, including a supermarket. Stadion metro stop is also close by, so you can take either red line to get to the hotel.

"Very good for the price"
MarikaPuusa, 19 Juin 2018

For the price we payed the hotel provided more than enough. Breakfast was good (only thing I was missing was oatmeal), the room was clean and the beds were comfortable. We were in town for Stockholm marathon and for that the location was absolutely perfect (already rebooked for next year's marathon). Only downside was that there was no airconditioning in the room. Usually that wouldn't be a problem in Stockholm but the weekend we stayed it was almost +30C outside and the room got quite hot.

"Very nice medium standard hotel in a quiet, but still central, part of Stockholm"
Karin E, 18 Juin 2018

Very nice staff in the reception as well as in the breakfast restaurant. The rooms are small but comfortable and clean with very clean bathrooms. The breakfast buffet contains everything you can wish including Swedish specialities and lactose and gluten-free options. The closest subway is 7 minutes walk from the hotel and the line brings you to the center (T-centralen) as well as the old town and the south part of Stockholm, "Söder".

"Just amazing "
Danciu I, 27 Mai 2018

It was very nicely located, near the metro station and only 2 stations away from the central station, small shops, things to visit, lovely parks and on top of that they have the loveliest yard. The room was small and cozy, but I don't think someone is coming to Stockholm to spend the day in the hotel room so the size shouldn't be an inconvenience. The staff was so nice and always ready to help. I arrive early and after a crazy day, the desk clerk managed to switch the rooms so I can check in and drop dead in bed for the day. The breakfast was so good and plenty where to choose from. I would definitely come back!

"Ok hotel, clean, average breakfast"
Mat G, 30 Avril 2018

The room I had was rather small - ok to spend the night but perhaps not a full day. I had a good bargain of the room and thus it was also price competetive. Breakfast was nice. But small things just draws down the rating - for example kettle on the room with tea bags but no instant coffee. Anyway, this is not a bad spot and especially if you have meetings close by but I would rate it a strong average.

"Comfortable, clean and centrally located. Receptionist very helpful"
stevensj3, 28 Avril 2018

When I arrived the receptionist couldn't find any trace of my reservation ?? Not what you want to hear when you find yourself in a strange city. However the receptionist was very helpful and assured me that there was a room available. The room was clean and the bed very comfortable the bathroom spotless with a very good shower. Spoilt for choice at breakfast- ranging from cold meats and cheese to bacon and scrambled eggs.

"Fabulous staff!"
Arthur K, 28 Mars 2018

Johan and Amir were amazing desk clerks! They went way above and beyond to make it an outstanding stay! Fabulous full breakfast and more! They provided power strips, printed documents, called a cab for us, met our special needs and more! We travel with a service dog and they were most accommodating!

"Ok, but not more!"
mpelele, 18 Mars 2018

First of all, it was freezing cold in Stockholm. My meetings were at Norrmalm. Best W Karlaplan was not best option, it required extensive walking or subway. The room was cold with no possibility to increase the heat and the bathroom floor was not heated. The el-plugs were by the floor, so in order to boil tea water or charge the phone, one had to climb undex ghe table. Superb breakfast though, but all in all considering the price - overpricef if u adk me!

"Excellent!!!!"
Makis A, 20 Février 2018

Excellent, and absolutely recommended. Warm and well decorated rooms in a very quiet a beautiful area of Stockholm. Rich and tasty breakfast but the most important very gently and friendly people. Thanks Maria and all the stuff of the hotel for this wonderful stay in Stockholm. We will be back!!!!

"Just ok, but don't expect too much"
Piotr77, 13 Janvier 2018

Just an average hotel, off the beaten path. My room (single) was clean and cozy, but yet liliputian. There was no place on the desk to work on my laptop Bathroom was very basic, but clean. Breakfasts were very basic as well. On top of that there was not enough tables and I had to wait.

"A 2-stars hotel over-rated to 4-stars."
Sidbala, 04 Décembre 2017

This hotel doesn't desserve its rating at 4 stars. Over-priced for what you get. Small rooms. Tiny dirty bathrooms. Amenities reduced to a bare minimum. The breakfast area cannot contain all guests (I had to wait 30 min to free some place). The breakfast itself is very frugal. The only consolation is that the staff were great and helpful.

"Great breakfast but poor storage space"
stevenpape, 28 Novembre 2017

The Best Western Hotel Karlaplan is situated in an upmarket part of Stockholm, a little way from the centre but easily within walking distance of the centre (I was walking on crutches and could manage it. It is also in a convenient position for the metro and the tourist bus at the Karlaplan itself, a short walk away. The Hotel serves no alcohol, but we were aware of this, and also aware of Sweden's alcohol prices - we brought our own in. The Good points: The staff were very polite, even with us landing at 10pm and checking in after 11 we found them to be polite and efficient. The bed was comfortable, but with no view, being in the basement, but we cannot argue with that at the price. The bathroom was clean and there was hot water available at any time of night. The public areas of the hotel were also clean and comfortable. The best point was the breakfast. Superb creamy scrambled egg, pancakes bacon and meatballs. If you want cold there is the whole smörgåsbord. You could not get a better breakfast. The negative points. There was no storage space other than a wardrobe with no shelving. OK if you hang everything up, but we are not in the habit of hanging pullovers or underwear. There needs to be somewhere to put these, there appeared to be drawers on the desk and in the bedside cabinet were fake, just drawer fronts with no working drawers. Then there is the electrical socket location. To plug in the kettle or our phone chargers meant crawling on hands and knees which I find difficult as I am disabled. You should not have to crawl to find sockets in ant case. The rook would be better served with a double bed instead of the king size, which left little room for walking around and instead having some flat storage space and reasonably places sockets. Its a shame because the hotel is otherwise excellent. But I have deducted a point because of these niggles.

"Nice hotel but not great for long stays"
jjp37, 20 Octobre 2017

We are staying here for 7 days and they gave us the "family suite". The pros: 1) Great staff- very nice, friendly and helpful 2) Excellent breakfast buffet 3) Perfect location for getting around to many places in Stockholm 4) Quiet rooms The cons: 1) The bathroom sink was slanting: you can't put a THING on the sink when getting ready (toothbrushes, toothpaste, everything rolls off into the sink). 2) The drainage hole didn't direct the water when you took a shower- the bathroom floor had A LOT of water on it after a shower. There was a lot water all over on the bathroom floor after shower and there wasn't any floor squegees to get rid of the water 3) There is NO SPACE to put ANY stuff. Seriously. No dresser, no bureau, no shelves except one small one right over the toilet in the bathroom. There are hangers but they don't fit in the space to hang things!! There is only 1 desk and 2 night tables for furniture, and NONE OF THE DRAWERS opened. When I asked about it at the front desk, they said that they chose not to have any furniture or shelving so no one leaves anything behind during their travels. I let it go, but it is bizarre to me to have a VERY small room with NO place to put stuff for 3 people! We are living out of a suitcase and were never able to unpack!! I'm not sure the price we paid was worth never being able to unpack for our entire stay. I would say this is a nice place for a quick visit but not for an extended stay. Tiny rooms, outdated. Great staff, great breakfast spread.

"Good hotel"
630janicez, 31 Août 2017

The hotel is good. Close to the History Museum, Vasa Museum, Abba Museum and Vikinglav. A bit of a walk to go to the hub of the city, and to Gamla Stan but on the whole it was a great experience. Will go to Best Western Hotels again in the future.

""Nice hotel in quiet neighborhood""
gf1349, 28 Août 2017

My wife, 12 year old son and I stayed four nights at this hotel. We enjoyed our experience. Our room was spacious, had good Wi-Fi, several English options on the television, and a very nice bathroom. The breakfast was plentiful with numerous hot and cold choices. The hotel is situated about a fifteen minute walk for the center, but is in a wonderful neighborhood with a plethora of dining options and a nice shopping mall with myriad offerings including two grocery stores two minutes away. Their are two subway stations less than five minutes away. Best of all for us was the staff. The young women who worked at the front desk were extremely pleasant and helpful. They were quick to offer assistance in any matter. Our only negative was our room was not cleaned one day, but the front desk folks brought us fresh towels and even offered to make up our room. It seems that the cleaning service they were using was being replaced in a couple of days and were not on top of their game. Overall, we had a very positive experience.

"Very quiet hotel, with nice service but a little far from center"
Caralie C, 19 Août 2017

My husband and I got this hotel through priceline and it was honestly a little further out than I would have liked. Everything was walkable, I just wouldn't recommend if you're traveling with children or seniors. The neighborhood was absolutely beautiful and close by was a grocery store. The hotel staff was very nice and there is an outdoor area in the back. It's not the most beautiful garden, but it was very peaceful to go outside and read a book. If you're looking to go to Stockholm but not be in the thick of it, I would recommend this hotel. The room was quite small, but we weren't in it very much so it wasn't an issue.

"A hotel I don't say no to visiting again"
Elin L, 18 Août 2017

I really liked this hotel. I especially liked the location and the room. It was nice and quiet, but still close to the city. The beds were very comfortable too. As I had a run event in the early Sunday morning, I was very happy that breakfast was served from 7 to 11 o'clock. How amazing to run 10km, and then have delicious breakfast afterwards. I had read some reviews talking about a poor breakfast selection. I guess they have changed it, or that I am more easy to satisfy, because I thought the selection was great. The scrambled eggs were a bit too creamy for my own taste, but still good. And I loved that they had pancakes. If I have other events in this part of the town, I will definitely come back.

"Hotel Karlaplan breakfast"
Sannamarja, 08 Août 2017

What was not successful with Hotel Karlaplan, room for 3 persons: - The bathroom's sink was slanting. You couldn't leave your toothbrush glass on the edge of the sink because of that. - There was very little any worktop in the big bathroom; you had to use the floor - The sewer didn't absorb water when you took a shower. There was a lot water all over on the bathroom floor after shower and there wasn't any floor squegees to get rid of the water - The main elevator kept terrible noise and was shaky. They told it would be repaired during this week. What was successful with Hotel Karlaplan: - The room was big enough for three persons - The bathroom was large - The breakfast was versatile and very good. There was a lot of options for people with milk allergies. There were lots of fruit, many kind of bread and cereals, pancakes in addition to normal traditional breakfast food.

"Could really do with an upgrade!"
FSNorway, 03 Août 2017

Hotel has a very good location and friendly effective staff! Rooms are ok but nothing more; very dated for 2017 standards with some very "curious" tacky artwork. Plus for good beds. The public areas though, really needs to be refurbished; as it is looking worn out. The lift felt like a deathtrap as it was shaking, jumping, rumbling and making all sorts of noise as it was about to break down. Chose to use the stairs from the 8th floor during my stay. As it is common in these older buildings, there is no aircondition available. Paired with a warm summer, the room felt close to a sauna - making a good night's sleep impossible. Difficult to blame this on the hotel; but still my experience as a guest. Good breakfast with very friendly staff, dining area could really need some sprucing up to make it a more enjoyable experience. Overall experience is that the staff are the stars of the hotel - hope on their behalf that a upgrade project is in the works.

"Great stay."
Carol W, 27 Juillet 2017

We loved everything about our 2 night stay here....great room, one of the best breakfasts we have come across in hotels, amazing service, the hotel staff were simply amazing, nothing was a problem to them, would highly recommend this spot..

"Low value for the money"
Bjorn_swe, 11 Juillet 2017

Best Western Hotel Karlaplan is not really that bad, but there are plenty of better hotels at Östermalm within the same price range. Downsides of this hotel is that it never feels really clean, the breakfast room feels like a dining room at a school and if you get a room under the kitchen the fan going on and off will keep you awake. Also if you want to use the TV, forget it. The low quality of the TV's make them useless. There is not much noice from the outside, but the walls between the rooms are paper thin. This hotel is mostly used by government employees that not are allowed to chose hotel by themselves.

"Good location, old hotel with small rooms!"
Inger A, 19 Juin 2017

I stayed at the Best Western in a combination of business & pleasure. The location of the hotel is great, very central, close to shops + public transport. The hotel though - the hotel is very old, so there rooms, furniture is old. You can hardly stay in a room smaller than a King double because the regular Double and single rooms are SO small. There is a smell in the hotel rooms since the furniture, rugs are all fabric and old. Also, the hotel is owned by the Salvation army so there is no wine, beer and/or alcohol sold at the hotel. Just in case this is important to your stay, you can't get any food, drinks after breakfast. Breakfast buffet is good - Swedish traditional breakfast buffet.

"Not 4 stars.. tired decor, not great at all"
Thevonpookas, 06 Juin 2017

I am sitting in what can only be described as one of the most tired and depressing hotel rooms I have ever stayed in. I can hear the faint dripping of the leaky toilet in the background am stone cold sober because the hotel isn't allowed to sell alcohol and have a musty smell filling my nostrils. To make things worse I have paid £370 for 2 nights here and feel a little bit ripped off seeing as trip advisor has just shown me I could have had the same room for only £80 per night... all in all a disappointing experience. On the plus side, it's in a reasonable location and the staff seem friendly enough. But unfortunately these 2 things will not be enough to tempt me back.

"Good price, tyne room"
mabrondani, 04 Juin 2017

Got to this hotel just for one night. It is well located closer to the Olympic station and a few blocks from the Central Station and everything else Stockholm. Staff was nice, but the room, at the basement, was small, super small...barely walking on the sides of the bed, and no windows direct to the bed: in this case, was good since the earlier sunrise at this time, before 4AM, was barely noticeable.

"An expensive well located toilet"
Jonathan C, 17 Mai 2017

Arrived late. No record of my booking. Grotty tiny 17th century rooms; understaffed by inadequately experienced staff. I stayed here before and at low rates this is reasonable. Gouging a late arriving guest and charging 6* prices for < 2* hovel horror is simply predatory and unacceptable behaviour. Don't stay here. It's a crappy little hotel.

"just ok western, not the best western"
Balerion2015, 13 Mai 2017

first of all I have to admit that given the circumstances of our booking ( we got the room for an unusual low rate for such period and the whole city was almost fully booked when we made the reservation). I feel awkward making any complaints. I will just point out the obvious : - the hotel has an excellent position for those like me on their first trip to Stockholm. I enjoyed being so close to the city center and all the tourist attractions. - the economy room is...on the second floor...and at the same time below ground level. Fairly outdated, small and poorly lit. As clean as you keep it. -the hotel serves free coffee and tea throughout the day. Sorry guys, but your free coffee is utter crap, it has a dreadful chemical aftertaste that lingers in your mouth. Just....yuk ok-ish experience, unfortunatelly below the standards of the brand with which I am accustomed to.

"Dysfunctional room"
kbergaust, 04 Mai 2017

The room was small and cramped, badly organized and impractical. Yellowish walls and dark brown curtains, a hideous kitsch painting on the wall. One thing is bad taste, worse is impractical and uncomfortable. There were nowhere to keep things, no closet or wardrobe for clothes. The drawer in the desk was not a drawer, just a fake that could not be opened, the same as the fake drawer in the table beside the bed. The electric kettle on the desk could only be connected to the socket, if you moved an oversized easy chair to the other side of the desk, pushed the desk aside and placed the kettle on the floor. On the desk was an oversized decorative shaded lamp that did not function. My room was only serviced once during the four nights of my stay. It felt dusty and uncared for. The breakfast was basic, and the coffee was horrible.

"Does what it says on the tin!"
ATOZCHIPPY, 21 Avril 2017

Stayed here for 2 nights. Lovely welcoming staff, tasty well prepared breakfast buffet. Room clean and well maintained. Really pleasant stay. Would recommend to couples and families alike. Close to metro.

"Standard hotel experience"
Thomasmusicology, 05 Avril 2017

I stayed here for one night. The receptionists I met were friendly and helpful, got me a quiet room without even blinking. The room itself - a room with two single beds - was fairly small and the beds were unusually narrow considering they were hotel beds. I had no problems sleeping in them, but if you are used to king size or queen size, you may have problems with these small beds. Apart from that, the room was what you expect: clean with normal facilities. One major disappointment was the breakfast buffet. As a vegan, I could eat the bread and milk-free butter with tomatoes, cucumber, pickles or bell peppers, but nothing else. In this day and age, I had expected at least a vegan yogurt to go with the muesli.

"Best breakfast ever!"
Chris S, 22 Mars 2017

The hotel is a little far from the Central Station where we arrived but we used Uber and the cost was about 13 Euro from the Central Station to this hotel. The day we left the breakfast was opened earlier for us just to be able to catch the bus for the airport. The brakfast is the best I have ever seen so far at this type of hotels, with everything, more like a brunch!

"Worked well for a Saturday night in Stockholm"
David_Partain, 19 Mars 2017

We needed a place for one night, conveniently located for what we were going to do, and this was our choice. Turned out fine. I generally judge hotels by four criteria: the room/bed, cleanliness, the bathroom, and breakfast. The room was clean, the bed very comfortable. The room was not big, but I don't care. The bathroom felt fresh and new. The only ding on their score was breakfast, but only because of the setting. The tables are set up in a school cafeteria style and quite close to one another, which made it feel cramped. Hotel breakfast buffets are not conducive to relaxing, I know, but this was a bit less so than normal. The staff was very responsive when I pointed out that something was finished, so that worked well. All in all, great for our needs.

"Weekend in Stockholm"
Knut K, 19 Mars 2017

Well situated hotel for our purpose during this visit. Walking distance to Djurgården and several nice restaurants in the area. The hotel itself is ok. Clean well organized rooms with coffee and tea in the room. Breakfast was simple and very good but the breakfast area was way to small and gave a stressful feeling and a lot of time spent queuing for whatever you wanted.

"Nice stay "
Mathias S, 18 Février 2017

This hotel is located on a quiet street a 15min walk from the center of the city. Our room was small tidy and clean, and the breakfast was average, no parking is available so be prepared to drive around the block to find one.

"Dirtiest room ever.... Good location and ok prices."
Rickard E, 26 Novembre 2016

I have never encountered such dirty room. Hair all over the bathroom and impossible to miss for the housekeeping staff. I booked a quite cheap room and for that price i dont except much but clean with a comfy bed was my expectation..... the bed was outdated and probably the worst i have slept in at a hotel.... How this hotel can be rated 4 star is for me out of this world....

"Ridiculously overpriced for what you get"
26jeanlouis, 14 Novembre 2016

I still cannot belive that I have paid the equivalent of more than 200 Euros for this small depressing, ugly bedroom with very basic facilities. This hotel clearly does not deserve its 4 stars. This so called "superior" room not only had the worst taste furniture, but also not even any drawer or board for cloth, Bathrooms amenities were 2 stars level at best. The only positive point, staff were very nice.

"Mixed Bag"
psjofors, 18 Octobre 2016

I like these hotels which has a odd floor-plan and where can assume all rooms are different. The winding corridor to the room even has odd steps up and down... I got a small room in the basement with really high ceiling and windows high up on the wall facing inwards. A big plus was the window opened, so I could enjoy fresh air. The WiFi was free and fast. The room very clean. Now to the not so good: The bed sucked. It was very narrow and had all the support of a hammock. Need to be replaced. Power sockets to charge computer and phone where findable and accessible only by crawling on the floor. Not good. The small, but well appointed bathroom use these wall-mounted soap dispensers. I guess with shower gel for the shower. I really want a real bar-soap and separate shampoo. The surprise was the breakfast that was unusually comprehensive.

"Lack of cleaning made stay less favorable"
bj_rnm329, 26 Septembre 2016

Room not cleaned after previous occupant. As the hotel was fully booked this evening, the receptionist could not arrange for substitute. As a prepaid room with 3rd party agent, no partial refund was available either. Yet, hotel location is very good for my purpose of stay. I found the breakfast ok and the receptionist otherwise friendly and helpful.

"A good but small single room"
hilt m, 11 Septembre 2016

Single room 1 night. The pros: Location, situated near Karlaplan subway station, the hotel is located in a back street of one of Stockholm's more upmarket inner city suburbs Östermalm. As such you can have a quiet nights sleep and still be within walking distance of the crowds. The room itself was neat and tidy adhering to a boutique style with lots of brass fixings, gilded mirrors, leather headboard and nicely framed paintings. Included in the booking, complementary wifi and a decent breakfast buffet. Basic features of the room include, a wall mounted tv, writing desk, tea and coffee making facilities, and a surprisingly comfortable bed, big enough to easily accommodate my 195cm frame. Not much of a view from my window but the window is big and the thick curtins are a nice touch. A small en-suite bathroom (shower/toilet/sink) with towels, hair-dryer and shampoo/soap provided. The cons: It's a single room as such you expect it to be on the small side, L shaped around the bathroom 2m by 3.5m where the bed is located. The desk and bedside tables look nice but the drawers are fake and do not function. There is no minibar fridge or safe and oddly no top sheet on the bed with the covered comforter insted serving this purpose. Storage space was a problem as there simply wasn't any, no cupboard, no wardrobe, no drawers, nothing but a wall mounted rack with hangers and a belted frame on the floor for the rest. Additionally I would have liked to have seen more in the bathroom, perhaps toothpaste, a toothbrush and some other small bottles of shampoos and conditioners (who doesn't appreciate the little bottles). Parking could be a challenge, the hotel itself doesn't have any but street parking is available if you can find it. I myself parked a street away and as it was the weekend it was free. The price was a little bit hefty for what you get but I gather this is more due to the fact Stockholm is an expensive city and the actual location of the hotel in Östermalm than the Hotel being greedy or trying to punch above its weight. I'd recommend Best Western Karlaplan for a single nights stay if you are after a quick, quiet and comfortable nights sleep, close to the city. But if you are considering an extended stay or want something more cosmopolitan then I would suggest looking elsewhere and paying a bit more.

"Great hotel, friendly staff"
Mary L, 24 Août 2016

We stayed here for 2 nights. Staff were helpful and assisted us throughout the day and night. There is a kettle, hairdryer and television in the (a bit small) but nice rooms. There wasn't a wardrobe in our room but there was space to hang clothes. Breakfast was lovely. There was a range of cooked food, pancakes, pastries, breads and yoghurt. The location was pleasant. It's not right in the centre of town but is close to the underground and bus services. The staff were great and incredibly helpful. We would stay here again. Mary

"Not a 4-star--be warned"
mingum, 21 Août 2016

Clean is the only good thing about this hotel. It's not close to anything you'd want to be near, the rooms in the basement are like staying in a dungeon with no light, no bathroom amenities, a big staircase at the front entrance with no ramp for luggage (nor a bellman to help) and the front desk told us the wrong price for a taxi to the airport -- wrong by 70 Sek ($9). It's a fixed price and she didn't know it. Just horrible in every way.

"Small room, descent breakfast"
Zittan88, 21 Août 2016

Stayed here for business one night, usually stays at another hotel in the area but it was fully booked this time. The room was small and the breakfast buffet could include wider range of food. The service was okay, not more or less.

"Small room size not made clear"
315james, 21 Août 2016

Beware of advertised room descriptions such as "Queen" bed, "Bed size 140cms". "Queen" in UK if not elsewhere usually means "quite big but not as big as "King". Bed size in cms is unlikely to be correctly interpreted. Old-fashioned very small rooms with small beds withl only about 45 centimetres space each side of bed to the walls.

"difficult to find"
rockysanpedro, 24 Juillet 2016

taxi driver had a hard time looking for the hotel. nearest train station is a 10 minute walk. there is a near shopping mall with lots of restaurants. check in and check out was smooth and fast breakfast has are basic wuropean dishes. wifi is strong

"Smallest room ever!"
Plumesie, 11 Juillet 2016

We arrived a little late to this hotel on Ostermalm in Stockholm. We checked in and went to our assigned double room. It was the smallest, even smaller than small ones in Paris! We are not teenagers anymore, and in this room one of us had to crawl over the other side to get into bed, you could not access the bed from both sides. The floor space was equally very small and we kept bumping into each other. Bathroom was OK, and breakfast pretty standard Scandinavian buffee style. I would stay again for the location which is perfect, close to the Karlaplan subway and walking distance to Djurgarden, but would definitely require a full size room another time.

"Sweden"s counterpart to Faulty towers."
Andy T, 09 Juillet 2016

If you want to experience how it feels like staying at Faulty Towers. Take your chance at Best(???) Western Karlaplan in Stockholm Sweden; rude staff, small but fantastic expensive rooms, outdated standard, swedish staff that does not understood neither scandinavian languages or english, bring your own breakfast if not you"ll starve.

"Lovely staff, but an insufferably hot basement room"
emmacgordon, 04 Juillet 2016

My partner and I stayed here during a conference (this was a booking organised by the university), and we have nothing but good things to say about the hotel's staff. Everyone was friendly, and very accommodating (e.g. providing us with constant supplies of ice). Plus, everything was clean, the shower was lovely and the breakfast was very tasty. However, there is no air conditioning in the hotel and there was no way to open a window in our basement room, and the air was so hot and still that we felt constantly dehydrated and tired when we spent more than an hour in the room (and especially in the morning). It was about 18-22 degrees outside during our visit, so if you stay at the Hotel Karlaplan in colder months then the temperature of the basement rooms may not be a problem. We got an eletctric fan when we asked for it (though we were told they were in short supply), but even that barely made a dent in the temperature. I realize that there are other, more expensive rooms that allow you to open a window, but we felt our room was expensive enough to warrant (i) more space and (ii) circulating fresh air (though we should note that Stockholm hotels may in general be quite highly priced, so this may not be an issue with the Karlaplan itself). We don't have excessively high standards and often stay in budget hotels, but we've never had such little space/such an uncomfortable lack of air circulation in other places.

"Swedish anonymous"
RenatinoAgatina, 27 Mai 2016

Hotel close to karlaplan and stadion metro stations. If weather is good, you can also walk to Stockholm centre. Personnel is also very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast is not bad, with possibility of having both a continental or a English one. Single rooms are very small so go for a double one.

"Main speedier lift out of order"
davepyper57, 21 Mai 2016

OK Good location hotel if needing the tube connection 5 min walk very convenient but a walk is what I had to do everytime I needed to get to my 5th or was it 7th floor room as the main speedier lift was out of order 4 days into my 8 days there Breakfast was ok unless you got down 10 mins before they started to clear tables and breakfast was incomplete Had to asked alot of times as to what was what . Expensive for what it really was You need money in stockholm and I do mean money

"Good Location, clean room"
AndreaT75, 03 Avril 2016

We went here as family of 4 (2 adults/2 children) but my friend and her mum were also on holiday with us, staying in a double room in the same hotel. When we arrived we were before the normal check in time but the staff were happy to check us in and allow us to our rooms. Our family room was on the top floor and the only problem I had was the windows, there was no safety lock, meaning the window could open fully; a potential accident waiting to happen. the room was big enough. With four of us all in the same room, there is sometimes the issue of the room seeming cramped, but this was not a problem as there was plenty of room for a double bed, two single beds and room to move around without falling over each other. The breakfast was a buffet style with lots to choose from and eat as much as you like; it certainly filled our 2 children ready for a fun filled day. The website does say snacks as well, and while tea and coffee can be got from the machine at any time, the children were not allowed juice from the machine unless at breakfast. The hotel is within walking distance of the tube station and as we bought visitor passes, travel was free. The tram system was easy to use and got us all over the city. It was also in a quiet area meaning we were not disturbed through the night. We would probably consider staying here again.

"family hotel close to center"
elenahorvathova, 03 Mars 2016

good location, close to Stockholm center , in the best and quiet city area, friendly and polite staff, excellent breakfast menu, but very small rooms, instead double bed room we got 2 single bed room in basement without any further explanation

"A good hotel with great location"
Tobias_Sve, 18 Février 2016

I stayed here for two night and I got a double bedroom. The room was fresh and in a very good condition. Amazing heated floor in the bathroom (thank you!). The service was quick and kind. The breakfast is a bit different than at many other hotels in Stockholm. It has the most basic things you can think of, as well as pancakes if that's your thing, so it was a good breakfast, but don't expect the same "huge buffet-style" as in many other hotels in Sweden. I can really recommend the hotel.

"Convenient Location"
geofflp, 18 Février 2016

The hotel is just a few minutes walk from the Metro and a 2o minute walk will take you into the Centre. There is also a decent shopping centre around the corner with supermarkets, Konditori's, bars etc. Also plenty of restaurants nearby. The hotel itself retains some "old" features including a lift, although there is also a modern lift to all floors. The breakfast is plentiful with a range of food including a hot choice. It can get busy though so be prepared to share a table. The room we stayed in was comfortable and clean although a little cramped and storage space was limited. For a couple of nights this was no problem. Bathroom again, clean and with all facilities. The staff, particularly reception were really helpful and gave some good information to help our stay. If you are looking for somewhere close to the centre and are put off by city centre hotel prices then this is a good alternative.

"Not worth it"
Carmen P, 29 Janvier 2016

I usually never take the time to review a hotel. When I do it's because it really was 100% or it was really bad. I stayed at this hotel because I got a good deal. However, I did not like the hotel at all. The hotel is in a good location but it is old. I stayed at a single so I'm reviewing single rooms at this hotel. First huge problem because I have to return emails and had calls from work was the terrible wifi connection. I believe it's due the location of the single rooms, the wifi most of the time had no more than 2 bars and it would just disconnect randomly. I was in middle of two calls and it disconnected so I just gave up on it. If you are on work here or need wifi I would not recommend staying here either, connection is slow and as I already mentioned will randomly stop working. Next was the size of the single. I have stayed at singles before but never this small. My dorm in college was larger than this room; even my walking closet back home is larger than this room. When I had to get ready in the morning I probably hit myself a couple times with something because there is no room to move. You turn around and you walk into the desk or the chair. My two suitcases take up the entire entry way. If you are claustrophobic I would def.not recommend staying in a single at this hotel. I really wonder how a large person would make it in this room, there is NO space at all! The room is so small that the bed is a step away from the window. Which made the room somewhat cold at night. I had to sleep with my sweatshirt on because I woke up shivering and yes, the heater was on. The only good thing about the hotel is the staff. They are all very friendly and helpful. These problems should be fixed if you are charging those prices for what you are offering.

"Good Standard Accommodation in Good Location"
Chopper_bass, 17 Novembre 2015

This hotel is in a really cool part of Stockholm, a short walk from plenty of restaurants and good shopping. You can't get away from the fact that this hotel is dated and tired with basic facilities and costs a fortune, normally a 3 star. My room was ok, but the bathroom was dated and basic. However, what lifts this up to a 4 star is the excellent staff, they are fantastic, attentive and very friendly. The breakfast was also great with plenty of choice.

"Utilitarian facilities close to the centre"
-AJvagabond-, 16 Novembre 2015

I had to stay here as this was a last minute decision and there were hardly and hotel rooms available due to a medical conference. Rooms are small and it's in an old building. However everything is functional, clean and the breakfast is very nice. Quite an irritant that they did not allow me to check-in till 3pm despite my pleading that I had taken an overnight flight.

"Nice and quiet!"
Jan_O373, 25 Octobre 2015

Frienldy reception. The room at the end of the corridor was ordinary but the bathroom was clean and tidy. Internet was kind of slow, but ok for basics. Location is excellent in a calm side street, but close to many places of interest and just a block or two from cafes and restaurants. Breakfast room and food was ok. I would consider using the hotel again, mainly to have a quiet place to rest when sightseeing in Stockholm.

"Nice location hotel"
John C, 24 Octobre 2015

I have been there for 2 nights. BEST WESTERN is in a good location around the all nice nights clubs, easy acces to the parliament and so on, the lakes... Lobby was nice, In general room and bathroom were nice but the only problem I saw is that internet was highly slow, incredible. I hope they will fix it asap.

"Good location, ok hotel"
suntrip62, 16 Octobre 2015

BEST WESTERN Karlaplan Hotel is centrally located in Stockholm. I visited the hotel for one night during a short business trip. I arrived quite late and check-in was smooth. My room was located in a stairwell, which seemed quite odd. The room was small but still ok, and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast was ok, but not great. Check-out was also very smooth. I did not use any other facilities at the hotel.

"Small, dirty room. Breakfast boring and small dining room. Poor room service. You need to ask for everything."
Hubert W, 12 Octobre 2015

DAY 1 (21:00 arrival) -room is very small (like L letter with about 10 sqm – excluding the bathroom) -dirty carpet with hair of people/dogs (let's see if it is cleaned for a day/week) -no wardrobe or shelf for clothes, only 4 hangers and 6 pegs for jacket, trousers – definitely not acceptable for 2 weeks stay -toilet paper was not available on the roller, you need to mount it yourself (forgotten by room service?) +kettle, coffee, tea, cups +comfortable bed +bathroom with hairdryer (will not use it) and warm hangers for towels +welcoming personnel on the reception desk was very nice, professional and helpful +WiFi is fast and no issues at all DAY 2 (first full day) -breakfast is ok but only 1 piece of cake for 4-star hotel? -pancakes were cold but you can use microwave available -only scramble egg, boiled egg, meatloaf and bacon for warm meals (no tomatos with cheese, no champignons) – let's what next days show -guest are to clean after each other and return everything on tray to the trolley (probably as there is only one person for breakfast service (covering kitchen, maintenance and cleaning) -returned evening from city walk, asked reception for room with wardrobe/shelf – no way! 4-star hotel does not have any room with room for your clothes! -dirty carpet still not cleaned +excellent and tasty orange juice +fresh salmon, variety of cold plates (cheese and hams) +great coffee +location is great, very close to T-bana, shopping mall and nice park DAY 3 -breakfast place (hall between reception and “kitchen”) was so crowdy and occupied, it's too small to handle all guests in rush hours -different cake (ginger, french), but still only one -did not try pancakes, but still the same menu (especially the same warm meals) -feet towel on the floor was not replaced, just taken (let's see if it's back in the future) -TV channels offer is very limited – to 10 channels only (BBC as international, no music, no CNN) -room supplies (coffee, tea, creamer, sugar) were not re-filled (asked reception for that next day morning) +orange juice was gone, but very fast replaced by kitchen stuff (this time two ladies on board) +warm floor in bathroom works and give you good feeling in cold city (this morning was +5 only) +fresh feet towel is back afternoon DAY 4 -dirty carpet still not cleaned -different cake (ginger, french, with jam), but still only one -breakfast place was very crowdy today – thanks I woke up earlier, avoided 5 min stay in 7-8 people queue +I'm feeling really relaxed and rest after sleeping in very comfortable bed/mattress DAY 5-12 -dirty carpet still not cleaned even it was reported and it was not done till the check out -different cake (ginger, french, with jam), but still only one -breakfast place was overloaded on one day (Tuesday?) – was waiting 5 mins for free table +used printer and computer in the lobby twice – fast, reliable and no issue at all +received breakfast take away on the early morning check out (ordered day before) +reception personel was very nice and helpful during check out (invoice) +after many requests to fulfill the room supplies (coffee, tea, creamer, sugar), finally I got it as desired Thank you for stay. Wish NOT to come back to this particular hotel anymore.

"Recommended for Troglodytes and Moles!"

As other reviewers have mentioned, the BIG problem with this hotel are the lower level rooms which you WILL be allocated if you book through most discount websites. We spend little time in our room, so it wasn't too much of an issue for us, although it was uncomfortably warm in the afternoon in mid-September. Not sure what conditions would be like in the height of summer or depths of winter....... Staff were friendly, the breakfast was very good and they rang the changes every day with different items added (recommend the salmon). They found us a kettle for the room when we asked and we had free access to coffee through the day. Reasonable value but you do emerge into daylight blinking and rubbing your eyes if you're down in the crypt!

"DON'T BOOK A CABIN ROOM!!"
Bruinjeepman, 06 Octobre 2015

We made the mistake of booking a cabin room online. We sure learned a lesson. Our room was below street level. The only window looked up to the courtyard but was in a narrow passageway and could not be seen from the bed. The room was l-shaped due to the elevator shaft taking up almost half of the room. The Internet was abysmal. You could only get online when other guests were away from the hotel. Apart from feeling like we were staying in the dungeon the hotel was acceptable. The desk staff, especially Marie were very helpful. The breakfast spread was incredible and very tasty. The staff even gave me the recipe for one of the dishes.

"Visit to Stockholm"
martan872, 24 Septembre 2015

This hotel has a good location, but to a four star hotel I expected more. Breakfast was ok but the area is to small to the capacity of the hotel. The bedroom was small and a bit dark. In my personal opinion the bed was terrible to sleep.

"Very acceptable standards at a reasonable price."

I had pre-booked a twin de-luxe room and the hotel reception was able to greet me by name even before I had said who I was. There was a lift to our room (No. 505) two floors above reception and hotel entrance, which are both on the third floor. Looking at previous reviews, it would appear that Levels 1 and 2 house the cheaper single rooms which have received some poor reviews. Our room was spacious with sprung mattress beds which had additional 3" foam overlays on them. The bedding was an undersheet, duvet and two small cushion-like pillows each. The only criticisms of the room are that there is only a shower (no bath) and there are no cupboards or wardrobes, only an open rack with coathangers, on which to hang one's clothes. Our window looked out above the hotel entrance onto a very quiet cul-de-sac. When unpacking, we discovered a small holdall had been left in the taxi. The reception staff were extremely helpful in tracing the bag and getting it returned. Venturing outside, we discovered that we were just a two-minute walk from Karlaplan underground (T-ban). During the holiday we found that this was the best way to travel as overground traffic is very heavy and slow within the city. One can buy T-ban travel cards for various lengths of stay and these are recommended. One can also purchase a Stockholm Card or a Stockholm Pass both of which give free access to many of the tourist attractions and free and/or subsidised travel on tour buses and boats. We had purchased Stockholm Cards but did not feel we got full value from them (there just isn't enough time!) and would recommend "pay-as-you-go". You also have to go to the central Tourist Office on arrival to collect the Stockholm Card, which is inconvenient as even taxis cannot park nearby. Back at the hotel, there was an extensive range of items for breakfast, but do not expect a "full English". There is scrambled egg and to go with it are frankfurter sausages and small scraps of crispy bacon. There is also a wide choice of cerials, fruit, yogurts, ham, cheese, salad, toast and marmalade etc. It is a self-service buffet and there are machines to dispence tea, coffe and fruit juices. The drinks facilities are available free all day, but be warned, this is a tee-total hotel which has no bar! They do not serve dinner and there are not many resaurants nearby. However, a few minutes on the T-ban will take you to the Old City (Gamla Stan) which is much more touristy and full of restaurants. Beware that food and drink in Stockholm is quite expensive. Main courses average £20 plus extra for vegetables etc. A ½L beer is £6. If you want to eat cheap, large pasta dishes cost between £8 and £10. Summarising the hotel, there are higher class hotels in Stockholm if you are prepared to pay, but we found the Best Western very acceptable and not too expensive. The final plus; there is a guest's computer and printer in the foyer with internet access. We used it to obtain our return trip boarding passes.

"Decent hotel in excellent location"
worldtravellersdream, 14 Septembre 2015

Our room was relatively small but comfortable. The bed was good, which is quite inportant. Breakfast was OK. Personnel was helpful and friendly. The hotel is ideally located, near Metro and busstops. Musea and other tourist attractions are either in walking distance or easily reachable bij public transport (be sure to buy a PT ticket for the durationn of your stay). Coming by plane, take the bus to the city bus terminal. From there take a taxi, for a short and inexpensive ride to the hotel. Check the official taxi rate, which is indicated on the yellow badge outside the car, since rates differ by car or company.

"Nice place "
DayRD, 12 Septembre 2015

Nice hotel located in a great spot near the main places so everything is almost in a walking distance. When we came the hotel was fully booked so we took a big suit for the four of us, the receptionist didn't had the brain to inform us that the shower and the toilet r see through. It's probably amazing for couples or swingers but not for a group of travelers. Beside that everything was just great. Stockholm is the best. Recommended...
