"5* stay"
Dave B, 04 Octobre 2024

Booked two nights here and what an absolute delightful place to stay. Check in was no problem and all the staff were very attentive. This hotel is right on the waterfront and close to all the posh shops, bars and clubs. The hotel has an old world charm, breakfast was very good, our room was clean and tidy what more do you need?

"Grande old dame in absolutely perfect location!"
Worldexplorer56, 13 Septembre 2024

We were thrilled with our stay at the Hotel Esplanade. Staff was very gracious, breakfast display absolutely astounding. Make sure you book a superior or deluxe room, it truly makes ALL the difference in comfort and especially noise. The location of this hotel is simply incredible, central and walking distance to "everything." Prices (by Stockholm standards) were acceptable, with a nice Best Western discount. Would definitely return, Stockholm is a great and beautiful city, so rich in history, and this hotel made it all the better for us friends.

"Lovely waterfront hotel in Stockholm"
Seaside644791, 04 Juillet 2024

This hotel is very comfortable for a 5-night stay, a 15-minute walk from the station easy accessible by tram and bus. They offer an awesome breakfast and the staff is wonderful: Carina and Ida were most helpful and considerate during our recent stays. We appreciated the luggage storage and the 2-4 hour coffee/tea/water and cookies. The Strand is pretty noisy until about 1:30 am, with fast, loud cars and motorcycles racing along the roadway, which you hear from any room. Our room #2 was facing the side street across from the Royal Stables and it was charming to hear the clip clop of the horses out for their morning exercise. We were upgraded graciously on our one-night return, just as Taylor Swift was leaving the city, so that was a pleasant surprise. We walked to all our tourist sights, but if our feet were sore, the trams and buses were easy to use. They only occupy 2 floors of their building, with no elevator, and Ida actually insisted on carrying my rollerboard up the winding staircase for me on our second stay since my knee was giving me trouble and I was using my cane that evening. Service above and beyond! They have a wonderful living room on the second floor and a smaller lounge on the first floor. We highly recommend this hotel, especially for 3/4's of the year when it isn't hot outside.

"Up for an update?"
Panu M, 20 Mai 2024

Even though the Esplande belongs to a corporate group, it doesn't have that feel. The small(-ish) hotel is housed in a charming period building with plenty of original features with long oriental rugs giving it a nice touch. The surroundings in Östermalm by the sea are the best in town. But it is all slightly dated. The plastic bathroom fixtures are cheap, and the tiling is worn. I can't honestly say that our small room with its minuscule bathroom is the four-stars as advertised, but the other features of the hotel do slightly make up for what is lost otherwise. There is a wonderful common area with a balcony opening towards the sea. There one can sit and enjoy the complimentary coffee and muffins.

"Fantastic Old World Charm"
Karl B, 25 Janvier 2024

Is the Esplanade a “perfect” Swedish hotel?… Nope Does this matter?…. not at all! In fact, this is a big part of the Charm!! Stockholm is one of our favorite cities to visit. Over the years, we've stayed in many hotels… design hotels, 4 star hotels, a rock and roll hotel, even a hotel on the water- accessible via a water taxi. All have been fantastic experiences, yet, we find ourselves returning to Esplanade, visit after visit. Sure, it's a bit long in the tooth and It doesn't have all the “fancy” amenities - like an elevator. But, it has many, more important attributes, history, comfort and charm. In an increasingly homogenous world, it's so comforting to be in a place with an authentic Old World charm. The rooms are beautiful. Bathrooms are small, but the shower is wonderful and powerful. Beds are crazy comfortable. Pillows and linens playing their role. It's only like 40 rooms and they are all on one floor. Where does that happen?! The sitting room at the top of the stairs is glorious. Period furniture and Joseph Frank textiles. Like a mid century realization of Svenst Tenn, Quiet elegance. Perfect spot for an afternoon computer time or a glass of wine We can stay in a “design” hotel in any city in the world. The experience is always pleasant and predictable. Yawn! If John Irving or Wes Anderson were writing about Stockholm, the Esplanade would a central “character”.

"Quirky lovely hotel"
hollipops, 25 Septembre 2023

We were given room 9 - this is a huge room with large twin beds pushed together. Big sofa, table . Lots of other seating & furniture. Small but ample bathroom with great hot shower. The room was on the side road with a nice view from very large windows of the water way. A little noisy at night(we had ear plugs o all good). This is a old fashioned hotel like going to an old Victorian house. Breakfast was good continental & enough choice. Coffee & tea with biscuits from a machine available all day complimentary. The Hotel entrance is round the side in a court yard off the main road. Walking distance to every thing. Would def stay again.

"A Very Special Place"
LizzyBennett12, 09 Juillet 2023

Hotel rooms in Stockholm are not cheap and many hotels offer rooms without windows. Thankfully, I came across Hotel Esplanade, a gem of a place in one of Stockholm's most beautiful areas, right at the Strandvägen boulevard. Our room in the beautiful Art Nouveau building across from the harbor (boat tour to the Stockholm archipelago was only a 2 min walk) was large and sparkling clean. The beds were very comfortable. The breakfast was out of this world. Almost all of the dishes were homemade and thinking of the scrumptious midsummer cake still makes my mouth water. Now, the Esplanade is a little quirky. For example, in our room, the sink was located very close to the toilet in this kind of weird arrangement. In other words, don't expect total perfection. Nevertheless, this is a small hotel where the staff does not treat you like an anonymous number. It's one of those places that you will fondly remember!

"Not a Serious Hotel"
Isthmuse, 20 Juin 2023

The hotel (on the first and second floors of a larger building) was dowdy and reminded me of the majority of European hotels from 30 years back. The furniture was mismatched and well-used. The hotel seemed more like a dormitory with doors up and down the hallway slamming, people walking around all day on the floor above (an office I guess) and rooms below used for a noisy group function. Front desk was passable and the breakfast was fine. I did like the coffee room and first floor guest lobby.

"Lovely, classic charm"
G7203POleem, 28 Avril 2023

We had a lovely stay here. Friendly, helpful staff. Excellent breakfast buffet. Strong wifi. Quiet room with modern bathroom and, if you're into it, a sauna. The room key is an actual key, not a card!! There is one flight of stairs to climb, with no elevator. Location is excellent for walking to points of interest and shopping. Tourist boats dock nearby and there are excellent restaurants too. All in all, a quaint, friendly, well appointed location. I would most definitely recommend this hotel to travelers.

"Charming historical hotel with elegant decor, exquisite architecture, views, central location and excellent service. "
Samhainn22, 13 Avril 2023

I stayed in Hotel Esplanade passing through Stockholm at the end of March. It exceeded all my expectations and was a wonderful treat. Room 14 is a magnificent corner room, with charming original art deco timber work and exquisitely refurbished soft furnishings. It is a luxurious and spacious sanctuary with beautiful attention to every detail. The bed was supremely comfortable, and the room was generously furnished with many chairs, tables, a desk, a large walk-in wardrobe, comfortable ensuite and various lights and lamps to adjust for ambient lighting. The room had beautiful views of the water and old buildings across the water. The hotel also has a comfortable lounge room with clusters of sofas and armchairs, refreshments and a lovely view over the water. The hotel staff were all very helpful and offered great advice for options to dine nearby and attractions to explore. It was short walk from the Vasa Museum, the Royal Palace, Opera House, great restaurants, shops, and many historical attractions. If you enjoy staying in charming historical buildings with amazing architecture, beautiful décor and excellent service then this is a wonderful find.

"Art nouveau gem with parquett, brass and leather"
Helma P, 22 Octobre 2022

Life took me to many hotels around the world, but this one is just a gem. Please do not do any improvements or renovations - keep this as is as long as you can! Reminds me a movie The Grand Hotel Budapest. Amazing art nouveau architecture, brass details, screepy parquett, old windows, leather furniture - everything as from 1911 until today. Amazing, what shall I add. This is not a hotel with gym, electronic door card or air condition. There is stairs, brass keylock and printed newspapers.

"Charming Hotel, Excellent Location"
hudval2, 22 Août 2022

We stayed at the Hotel Esplanade in July 2022 for two nights prior to a Baltic cruise. The Esplanade isn't a big, glitzy place. Rather, it is a charming hotel with interesting architecture and furnishings. Great breakfast with a super coffee machine. The hotel is located within walking distance of many tourist attractions, and it is also very close to tram, bus, ferry and subway services. Terrific location for touring. And the staff was most accommodating and helpful. They booked reservations at local restaurants, printed copies of needed documents and stored luggage for us. A perfect spot for us to start our Baltic trip.

"Best location"
844elinaf, 24 Juin 2022

Location 5 star, Hotel overall 4 star, Rooms 3 star, Location is the best in Stockholm, easy access everywhere by walking or subway (T-bana). Friendly personnel and ok basic breakfast. The rooms are really tiny, you'll find difficult to find place for your clothes and luggage.

"Wonderful Hotel Experience!"
Joakim L, 25 Avril 2022

After having been a guest at several of the largest and even some of the “fanciest” hotels in the Swedish capital, I've now also stayed a couple of nights at the historic Hotel Esplanade on Strandvägen in Stockholm's Östermalm district. The gorgeous Art Nouveau property that houses the hotel is located in a horseshoe-shaped courtyard. It was designed by the then-leading architectural firm Hagström & Ekman and was completed in 1910. Of Stockholm's approximately 120 hotels, the choice fell on Hotell Esplanade thanks to all the good reviews from previous guests who in the vast majority of reviews expressed themselves positively about the hotel's location, the charming, antique interior, and that they had a pleasant experience with the staff. As soon as you step into the elliptically shaped reception at Hotell Esplanade, you are instantly transferred to a bygone era. Many of the original furniture from when the hotel was called Grand Pensionat Dehn (until 1954) is still in place. Back then, you were only allowed to stay there through recommendations and many of the guests lived there for long periods. In the block next to Hotell Esplanade is the legendary interior design store Svenskt Tenn, and their influence can be seen here and there, especially in the hotel's public spaces. Despite the well-kept, antique interior, today's version of Hotel Esplanade has been tastefully modernized to meet contemporary expectations and requirements. We lacked nothing in our room (No. 8) and enjoyed a very comfortable bed, a clean bathroom, a work desk, plenty of storage space, and a fast and stable connection to the Internet. The slightly worn parquet creaks faintly under my shoes as I step into the cozy guest lounge on the second floor. A couple of sofas and armchairs make the room a perfect oasis to have coffee or work in after breakfast – or, just to relax in when we'd been out on the town for a while. One afternoon we even enjoyed a glass of wine in the sun with a view of Nybroviken from the salon's wide balcony. Next to the guest lounge is the round, red-clad staircase that leads to and from the reception where the main entrance and several dining rooms are also accessed. In the farthest of the hotel's dining rooms, a large breakfast buffet was served each morning, with fresh bread, cheeses, sliced salmon, scrambled eggs, croissants, and much more. I spoke with several of our fellow guests and we are apparently many who are in awe of Hotell Esplanade. In no small way thanks to the combination of a truly unique guest experience; comfy accommodations in a beautifully vintage environment, friendly and welcoming staff, and a superb location by Nybroviken – which is one of the city's most beautiful places with a nice promenade and proximity to the ferries for excursions.. It's easy to feel at home at Hotell Esplanade, which also makes it easy to enjoy your stay – and long to return.

"Great, affordable find in a wonderful location"
Katherine M, 20 Avril 2022

My family of three stayed in Room 16 for two nights. Some of the reviews note the rooms are small but ours was fairly large -- easily fit the extra cot for our daughter with plenty more space. Our room was just a couple doors down the hall from the "library" which was a lovely front room facing the water where guests could sit and enjoy a drink or a book. Perfect for parents after the kid is asleep. You can also get drinks from the front desk until 1am. The hotel itself is older. You shouldn't expect modern finishes. But everything is well-cared for, and if you love old world charm, you will find it here! Breakfast was solid -- eggs, bacon, breads, cereals, croissants, fruit, vegetables, cheese, juice, coffee, tea. Tea/coffee and cookies are available all the time which was a nice treat. Finally, the staff was FANTASTIC. They were friendly and helpful and kind in every way.

"Awesome staff!"
I8682LImaxh, 10 Janvier 2022

Stayed at the Esplanade with my family in January 2022. Rooms are small, but cozy and very clean. We requested different bed-setups for different rooms and that was of course all in order. Breakfast was very nice, but I would really cheer the awesome and friendly staff at the hotel, both checking in, nightwatch and morning staff. Very cooperative and friendly!

"Perfect hotel"
GaryXXXX, 30 Septembre 2021

Perfectly located - in the middle of every wonderful neighborhood. The staff were extremely helpful and full of information. And the breakfasts were amazingly opulent. Great stay! The woman who I believe is the manager was especially helpful with a bunch of questions I had about the city, the in-tact buildings, the economy and the lack of visible homelessness (coming from San Francisco).

"Needs some improvements but charming and well-located"
inkwave17, 30 Août 2021

Stayed here for 6 nights. My first impressions were a little disappointing after reading all the rave reviews, but over the week, the place grew on me. The location on Strandvägen is obviously great and the hotel is cozy and comfortable. I didn't mind the keys and the lack of elevator or the 'old-fashioned' decor. It was actually a nice change from sterile chain hotels to stay in a characterful hotel. However, there were a few flaws that I couldn't totally excuse at this price point. For example, some of the furnishings were shabby (torn or worn upholstery, large dark stain on the carpet, towels and sheets also had small stains) and the housekeeping wasn't always thorough enough - when we checked in, a glass tabletop had smudges from a previous guest and the carpet hadn't been vacuumed properly. These cleaning and maintenance issues did detract from what was otherwise an enjoyable stay. As others have pointed out - the bathrooms are TINY. They are similar in size to those you find on river cruise cabins. Be prepared! The room itself was large and airy, with a big wardrobe and plenty of room for luggage. We were happy we could open the windows too. Wifi worked well. The breakfast was good, although exactly the same every day. Overall, I had a good stay here and would consider it again, but I think the prices are too high for what I would consider a nice 3-star hotel.

"Amazing!"
carlmarcusb, 03 Août 2020

A great hotel with amazing location, friendly staff and high service level. We did visit Stockholm with the family and it was a good family hotel and short distnace to everthing as the location is very central and by the water and cabelcars.

"We hope to go back!"
LaurelandDaniel, 29 Mars 2020

Excellent place to stay! Great location – within walking distance of many sights. Delicious ample breakfast. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. They helped us book a brunch cruise, gave us directions, etc. Our room was wonderfully quiet.

It is very comfortable and welcoming hotel. All staffs behave in a friendly, attentive and helpful manner. The room was very comfortable, clean, tastefully decorated, well maintained by housekeeping. Would recommend this hotel to anyone.

"Nice, personal and worth a stay"
669daniel_, 15 Décembre 2019

It is an old hotel with history and they try to keep its original Jugend-style. And they do it quite well, even though I find some of the interiors a bit worn out. Nothing serious, but still. But the rooms are clean, the staff is kind and serviceminded and the breakfast is very good. There are always things to improve, but all in all this stay was warm, genuine and we was very happy with it.

"Pleasant stay!"
sigriddragt, 12 Novembre 2019

Good location and great value for money! The staff is very friendly and the options at breakfast were very good. Next door are several dining/lunch options and the centre is at walking distance. I love the decoration of the room and the seating area on the first floor. I would stay here again during my next trip to Stockholm.

"Short stay in Stockholm"
211erike, 10 Novembre 2019

Great hotel right in the center of Stockholm with close access to Djurgården as well as the city center. Large and luxurious rooms. Nice old-fashioned luxury feeling. Great views of Nybroviken from the large windows. Great beds. A breakfast to long back for.

"Best hotel in this area."
Goran F, 22 Octobre 2019

Old Jugend-style with all modern facilities. Only 34 rooms which makes it cozy. Lounge on 2nd floor feels comfortable. The rooms are very nice. The breakfast is a joy. The staff are always helpful. Close to most things in the city.

"Hotel Esplanade left an excellent impression"
anneli289, 13 Octobre 2019

We came to the hotel with my 80-year old mum. We got a room downstairs and could change the room from a king-size bedded into a twin room. Also the self-baked bread and granola at breakfast left an impression of high-touch service.

"Good location and great staff"
Dreamer45890153053, 01 Octobre 2019

Great little hotel in the heart of the city. Very clean. Older rooms. No elevator so have to carry luggage up and down. Great breakfasts with unbelievable choices. Walking distance to most attractions. Very friendly staff that were very helpful

"Loved It"
mimibobek, 29 Septembre 2019

We loved this hotel - absolutely perfect location - I wish we had stayed longer. Just walk out onto the street and you are just a few minutes walk from everything. They had a breakfast there that was a great way to start the day - lots of options- even for a picky North American child. Our room was great - small, but expected.

"Affärsövernattning"
Johan N, 21 Septembre 2019

Nice friendly welcome at check in. Rooms Ok for a one hight stay, my was a single room. The old-fashioned keys to the door, possibility to iron a shirt in the room, good. Breakfast from 7, however I needed to take breakfast already at 06:30 and that was no problem

"Charming Hotel in Great Location"
aboutandout, 08 Septembre 2019

Booked a deluxe double room and got Room 14, a huge and beautiful oval-shaped room with views over the waterfront. No noise at all from other rooms/guests, but be warned ... at night music from adjacent Diplomat Hotel continues to midnight so you will need earplugs! Hotel is wonderfully un-corporate and old-fashioned, with super friendly staff and really good breakfast choices (though sadly no cappuccino machine). Location is perfect for everything we wanted to see and do in the city (and is directly opposite Cindarella boat for highly recommended day trip to Sandhamn).

"Central character"
AnuddaGringinrio, 29 Août 2019

Located on Strandgaten- walking to everything. Great breakfasts and staff were very great.Classic room and common area decor. Regretfully there is a disco style bar next door - our rooms faced the outdoor speaker and they rokked til late 3 of 4 nights.

"Warmth and character"
NswAustraliaDidi, 25 Août 2019

A prime location means that you are in walking distance to so many of the sights of Stockholm, the Old Town, boat rides, Vasa Museum etc. The hotel is a classy “old lady”, lovely spiral staircase leading up to the rooms, old hand woven carpets adorn the parquetry floor, chandeliers hang from ceilings, original art works decorate the walls, lovely lounge areas where one can sit, read or enjoy a drink or just soak up the stunning harbour views. Breakfast room is stylish with a lovely range of options, really appreciated the fresh fruit. Tea, coffee, cookies and fruit are available throughout the day, free of charge, luggage storage facilities available and lovely warm welcoming staff that go out of their way to assist you. Room was comfortable not large but with everything else that the Esplande Hotel provides this is not a negative.

"Väldigt glad"
artroomali, 07 Août 2019

I was very happy that i chose this beautiful art nouveau hotel for my 3 day stay in Stockholm. Lovely view of harbor opposite. Easy walk to transport and restaurants. Taxi's easy to catch near by. This is a hotel that feels like home away from home, as so many say, with friendly staff. Breakfast is great. If i return to Stockholm i will make a booking at Hotel Esplanade without doubt! I loved my room.

"Excellent location"
jparke526549, 05 Août 2019

This hotel is right by the water. Gamla Stam is easily within walking distance, and so are the various ferry terminals, hop ho hop off bus etc. My single room was very small, but everything worked, hot water, WiFi fridge etc. Comfortable bed. Breakfast was free and had masses of choice. There was free tea and coffee all day long, as well as cakes and biscuits, in the breakfast room.

"Destination wedding"
303maryr, 22 Juillet 2019

We had 4 rooms of various sizes for 5 days at this hotel. The hotel is an old character building without a lift but all the rooms are only on the first floor. The rooms we had were light and airy with windows you can open. The bathrooms are small retrofitted en-suite but are functional. There is an elegant lounge room with terrace available for guests. The breakfast which is included is fresh and interesting. All day tea and coffee plus biscuits are available. The staff are very helpful and have good English. The hotel is very located. We certainly would stay again.

"Charming, well located hotel"
DaleS684, 19 Juillet 2019

The hotel Esplanade is a very comfortable, older style hotel. I think 4.5 stars is a better assessment of this lovely hotel. It is well located, within walking distance to the old town and main shopping area and opposite the ferry departure area. We stayed a total of 5 nights, the first stay of 3 nights then a couple of weeks later we returned for 2 nights. The rooms on the south side face into a large central courtyard, and have ample natural light. The rooms are a good size. Bathrooms are a retro fit module within the original room space and are functional but a bit tight. Breakfast is very good, served in a nice dining room. Public areas and seating rooms are elegantly decorated. Staff are professional, friendly and helpful. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Stockholm.

"Lovely hotel for Stockholm visit"
Sue9832, 11 Juillet 2019

Hotel Esplanade offers a great location, comfortable room/bed, beautiful Swedish decor, friendly/knowledgeable staff, and absolutely fantastic breakfast with cappuccino! The breakfast room is lovely, with fresh flowers on every table and stained glass windows. The hotel is a 15 minute walk to the VASA Museum, 10 minute walk to Gamla Stan, and 18 minute walk to City Hall. The rooms are kept very clean, and the huge breakfast gets you off to a good start for the day..There is a lovely large room upstairs with a fireplace to relax and have a glass of wine with your spouse or friends...also a small balcony to share a coffee/breakfast/or wine in the open air. The large windows open out to the world with no need for screens. Just a lovely hotel! There is a beautiful antique elevator, but the wide circular staircase is easy to use.

"Comfortable, well located and priced"
dalesY5983NI, 10 Juillet 2019

We enjoyed our recent stay at Hotel Esplanade. It is well located, comfortable, nicely decorated, and staff were friendly and professional. The breakfast was lovely, but better during the week than on weekends. I would recommend this as a place to stay in stockholm

"Very enjoyable place to stay!"
Giles P, 24 Juin 2019

Really enjoyed our stay for 3 nights - hotel has a boutique feel; good rooms for a range of prices. Excellent breakfast and 24 hour free coffee, tea, cookies and snacks from the dining room. Good location between the centre and Nordic, Vasa museums and Skansen. You can watch the boats coming and going - quiet in the evenings. Very much planning to return.

"Friendly and full of character"
Frances C, 21 Juin 2019

The Hotel Esplanade is in a very convenient location, in walking distance to all the main attractions.. We had a very spacious room with lovely windows and views. The breakfast was very good and the staff were friendly. Our room was big and spotless with a very comfortable bed, although the bathroom was relatively small. We had a room facing the street and the water which we enjoyed but others found this side of the hotel a bit noisy because of the traffic. We liked the decor and the various places where you could sit and relax between sight seeing trips!

"Great Hotel in Stockholm!"
khepk, 14 Juin 2019

The hotel was centrally located, very nice, had a hotel safe, the beds are a bit weird in this part of Europe, two small box mattresses and a small topper, but we managed. The complimentary breakfast was VERY nice, included a wide variety of items, and was very delicious. Hotel offered complimentary fruit and coffee, tea, etc throughout the day. We were very pleased with this hotel and the service. Thank you!

"Unbelievably helpful staff"
NEBontheroad, 01 Juin 2019

Unbelievably helpful staff kept my trip from being a disaster. Shortly after stepping off a cruise ship, ready for a few fun days in Stockholm, my husband became ill and a day later so did I. Being sick in a hotel in a country where you do not know a soul (without functioning cell phones) is the loneliest feeling I have ever had. The amazing staff got hubby to the hospital and brought me food for days until we both recovered. I am very grateful! The hotel is in a wonderful location with a really good and huge breakfast as well. Thanks Carina and staff!!!

"Nice stay, but could be better with a few improvements"
pmartinslux, 25 Mai 2019

Plus: The vintage look of the hotel is quite charming; location is perfect; staff is quite helpful. Minus: My room was next to the breakfast room, the noise woke me up at 06:00 in the morning; the bathroom was one of those block units that they put as a whole into the bedroom, which is quite a disapointing solution for such a charming hotel; TV limited to swedish channels, useless for foreigners.

"Hotel Esplanade, Stockholm Sweden"
laurawensek, 21 Mai 2019

Excellent hotel and location. Includes breakfast and was fantastic! Staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable! Near everything you would want to visit very convenient. Rooms spacious and comfortable,

"Special Break in Stockholm"
Derby422, 29 Avril 2019

Booked 4 night break for at the Hotel Esplanade, Stockholm for a special birthday and family celebration. The hotel location was great and ideally located right in the middle giving easy access to the numerous boat trips, Skansen, city centre shopping and the old town area of Gamla Stan. The comfortable style furnishings made it feel such a relaxing place. The breakfasts were good with self serve buffet and more than enough choice. The staff were always available, very friendly and helpful. The whole experience was excellent value for money and certainly somewhere I would recommend to other travellers.

"Old school charm in excellent location"
Inspire60048875545, 28 Avril 2019

We booked a late stay and was upgraded on arrival to a large room with beautiful view over Nybroviken. Stayed hete before and thank this is a moore personal option then neighbouring Diplomat. Excellent lookation and possibility to park for free in streetparkng as weekend and not high season. Good breakfast with everything you sant and some moore without being extremly large

"Limitations"
206jod, 27 Avril 2019

Grand old building, but hotel actually quite small and basic. Large rooms are just large but the tiny rooms are actually more comfortable. If your room is above the main floor, you get there by carrying your luggage up a winding staircase -- no bell staff. Furnishings in common areas rather ornate and elaborate, in the rooms austerely functional. Bathrooms were all added inexpensively, so tiny showers, a step up from the bedroom, etc. Best to walk 5-10 minutes to the right to get to shops and cafes. Staff very pleasant and friendly and the breakfast good -- scrambled eggs surprisingly good.

"The hotel I cant wait to return to"
Trek53509237998, 25 Avril 2019

Such a lovely hotel, perfect location, central yet quiet. Beautiful interiors and cosy, comfortable rooms. And the staff, so professional and serviceminded, welcoming and helpful. Very good breakfast! I cant wait to go back to Stockholm and stay at the Esplanade!

"A small intimate hotel in a superb location."
Herwidiati, 24 Avril 2019

Great location! There are a lot of public transport options nearby: tram, bus, tunnelbana, even ferries. The room facing the esplanade was huge and has a fantastic view. There are a lot of choice for breakfast, including smoked salmon and pickled herrings, which were rare in other countries. Overall, we had very enjoyable experience staying in this hotel for 3 nights. Just note that there's no elevator, but the rooms are only on the first floor. Also, no coffee making facilities in the room. However, they provide 24 hours coffee making facilities in the dining room, just like being at home!

"Fake photos and presentation"
Mobile66974439363, 10 Avril 2019

1)Booked on booking.com and photos were showing view to lake but instead we had view to garden. 2)Description was ''double bed'', but it was two small beds connected. Apart its position, nothing worth

"Down town"
Elksab, 07 Avril 2019

Great hotel with a super good breakfast. It's close to the big shopping streets. You have a nice place on the first floor to sitting ore a super small balcony. This place you looking out on the sea and all boats. This is close to everything to experience in Stockholm. Also the Strandvägen in amazing place to only walking on.

"Beautiful hotel in an amazing location!"
aprildawn1968, 26 Mars 2019

If you are looking for an historic hotel located on the water in Stockholm then this is a great hotel for you. The courtyard at the front of the hotel is adorable and picturesque with the waterfront and boats right across the street. We walked to numerous places to shop including a department store and high end luxury stores, plus there are many restaurants and even a 7/11 on the corner if you need a quick item. Public transportation is also just a block away, although if you like walking, we walked to the Vasa Museum, the Abba Museum and the Nordic Museum, and also walked over to the departure point for an archipelago tour. I believe we even walked to Gamla Stan. The rooms are comfortable, don't expect anything too modern as they are in keeping with the 1910 designs. We brought square electric converters and all of the converters are round, so we had to find the round converters to plug them in to. There is also not a lot of storage in the room so we had to keep the majority of our items in our suitcase. There is a closet but it hold the ironing board and several shelves but no dresser. The breakfast every morning was AMAZING including coffee and a cappuccino machine. Lots of nice selections and if you love bread and cheese you will be in heaven! The staff was very nice and they did have the option for room service I believe. I would definitely stay there again if we visited again!

"Very nice hotel"
quarry_127, 26 Janvier 2019

I stayed here for 2 nights last week. The hotel is very nice. The rooms are big and well decorated. The breakfast has everything you expect. My only disappointment was the size of the en suite bathrooms, mine was very small and squashed in. Also no bar or restaurant for the evening but there are loads of restaurants in walking distance. I would recommend this hotel.

"Perfect stay"
AviG983, 03 Octobre 2018

We stayed three nights at this little gem. Excellent location in the heart of Stockholm. Any easy walk to many museums, sites and restaurants. It mixes the old and the new. We had a quiet room on the courtyard side. The room was good sized with modern bathroom. The staff, especially Nicole, was extremely helpful. The breakfast was generous and tasty. Served in two dining rooms. The small number of rooms made for an intimate experience. Would definitely stay again. with modern bathroom. The staff, especially Nicole, was extremely helpful. "Lovely Hotel,Excellent Location"
JeffandMark, 29 Septembre 2018

We stayed here recently for 2 nights prior to embarking on a Baltic cruise. The hotel is very nicely decorated in old world style. The staff was friendly, helpful and informative. The location is excellent. It has a beautiful view over the harbor . There is tram stop across the street and the metro station is only a short walk. If you are embarking on a cruise as we were, the cruise terminal is a 15 minute taxi ride max. Our room was simply but nicely furnished and best of all was HUGE!! Some rooms have small balconies. Ours did not but had a lovely bay widow with view over the water. There was a large common sitting room on our floor for all to use which opened onto a balcony. Breakfast was very good with a large selection of breads, pastries, cheeses, smoked fish, yogurt, etc. as well as scrambled eggs and bacon. It should be noted that there is no lift. Was not a problem for us but may be for some. We did not require any assistance with our bags but I'm certain they would have helped us if we needed it. We loved Stockholm and if we ever return I would stay here again. I highly recommend this lovely old grand hotel.

"Experience a stay in a historical building site"
Alyaarene, 22 Septembre 2018

Hotel about 20 min walk from the station and close to a harbour. Hotel located in a historical site, very old style decor. No lift available which was annoying considering that I had a heavy luggage to carry up myself on a spiral staircase. Room was good size, designed in the same fashion as the hotel itself. Very nice toiletries to use from the Rituals collection, with shampoo, conditioner and shower gel available. Tried to use the iron and ironing board available in the room but iron seemed to be a bit out of use and was leaking water.. stopped that. Breakfast was nice with a small selection of Swedish regulars like knäckebröd or cracker bread, salmon, yogurt and cereal. Coffee and tea is available in the breakfast room at all times.

"Grand old hotel with awesome staff"
Tombjl, 06 Septembre 2018

Stayed for 3 days and were most pleased with our accommodations. Older (very clean) Hotel with lots of personality and great view of the harbour from the beautiful sitting room on top of the spiral staircase. Desk staff were very extremely helpful with suggestions of venues and sites to take in as well as shopping suggestions for the ladies. Very good traditional breakfast buffet which we enjoyed and will stay at this hotel again when we return.

"nice location"
Ness34, 11 Août 2018

family visit, we had two rooms close to each other rooms don't have view and just the second floor is hotel rooms. there isn't any elevator and help with carrying the lugages through the steps but the location is very central with the water. there are a lot of parking space on streets around the hotel 15kr per hour

"Great hotel"
marcope67, 09 Août 2018

We stayed here for a family vacation. Great location. We walked everywhere since we like to do that. Easy to get to everything. In the nicest neighborhood, near old town and shopping. Easy to get to all major attractions. Breakfast was very good with everything fresh and replenished frequently. Room is a bit small, but good enough and the staff is super nice and friendly. They helped us with dinner reservations and suggested great places. We had a room that faced the inner courtyard and it was quiet and the curtains were dark enough that it was easy to sleep. Only bad comment is that the bathrooms are micro sized, but it was clean and it worked fine. Nice bathrooom toiletries. Overall a great place to stay in Stockholm.

"Comfortable room"
OATEK, 27 Juillet 2018

Having read good reviews we booked this hotel for two nights. On the plus side the room was spacious, overlooking the courtyard. The hotel is well situated for visits to the Vasa and National Museums via the No7 tram that passes by out front. There is also a metro station about 500 metres away that can get you to Gamla Stan and other parts of the city. On the negative side there was no lift and we had to struggle with our luggage up stairs, which was uncomfortable for a pair of sexagenerians. Also the breakfast was more suited to Scandinavians than us. On our last day at checkout a cab was called but owing to afternoon peak hour traffic we stood outside for 45mins, waiting for a ride to the airport.

MagnusBvi, 22 Juillet 2018

Once a year in Stockholm, always at Esplanade. Room 16 is large and airy, with a side view over the water, we adore the vintage comfortable Scandinavian style. Fantastic breakfast as always, attentive and very friendly front office and super-good housekeeping gentleman, same as last time :) The living room with its balcony over the water on first floor is unbeatable in Stockholm. Thanks!

"Nice stay at excellent location"
katarinalauning, 21 Juillet 2018

Ok stay - the hotel is charming, quiet and very personal - a super nice hotel and I have stayed there before. This was a heat record summer, and this hotel wasnt suited for that. With airconditioning lacking, and windows facing south with the sun baking all day, the room got unbearably hot. Hopefully they will do something about this in the near future. The location is excellent, close to Djurgården and Stockholm City.

"Comfortable stay"
1939stella, 01 Juillet 2018

The staff were very helpful. We exchanged email before we arrived and they booked boat trips for us. The room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast had a wide choice of cold food, scrambled eggs and bacon. Tea, coffee and biscuits were also available. There are comfortable lounges and a very small balcony.

"Very nice stay"
Tomten175, 30 Mai 2018

We stayed three nights at this hotel prior to boarding a cruise ship. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Our room was good size for a European hotel. There is no elevator, so if you can't lug your suitcase up to the 1st floor, this might not be the place for you! Buffet breakfast was delicious and covered all the bases: yogurt, fruit, museli, eggs, bacon, cold meats and cheeses, lax, and various breads. Coffee and tea were always available. We had a room with a small balcony which was nice to sit on and have coffee. The location was great for walking to Gamla Stan (20 mins), Central Station (20 mins), and the Vasa Museum (20 mins).

"Beautiful art-deco hotel, perfect location!"
Ylva R, 29 Mai 2018

This has to be one of the most beautiful buildings in Stockholm! The interior design is wonderful; old wooden furniture and wall-paper to match the building. I loved the breakfast! Home-made granola and scrambled eggs made of real eggs! High quality food in a beautiful breakfast room! However the hotel is in need of a proper cleaning, some new paint (hopefully linseedoil) BUT I do hope the owners will not change anything.

"Baltic ocean cruise"
oakbluffsmv, 29 Mai 2018

Stopped at this hotel before boarding a Viking cruise ship. Great location and very quaint grounds. Nice people also. The downside was the room. It faced the dirtiest and messiest back side I have ever experienced. Pigeons and their droppings were our view. The room was rather small and the shower ran water trrough out the bathroom. If you seek a room there, don't take one that doesn't face the front or, at least, the court yard. Do not accept room 27 unless you like the view I described.

"Nice location- NO ELEVATOR "
Ellie B, 28 Mai 2018

We stayed here one night before a cruise. Lovely old hotel with nice breakfast. No elevator so had to haul big suitcases up and down winding staircase. Plus we had an awful stuffy room overlooking the concrete roof and the building next door. Would not stay here again.

"Hotel Esplanade"
fdi2018, 03 Mai 2018

Nice location Average quality Near by the harbor with nice transport options. Breakfast was above average Little noise in the morning from traffic In general a good hotel with lots of charme. I might have a 2nd stay some day

"Small and very charming hotel"
Knut S, 29 Avril 2018

It looks huge from the outside, but Esplanade is a very small hotel, all rooms on the same floor. It's a bit worn here & there, but full of charm. We had a large and very quiet room, facing the courtyard. There's also a very nice longue on top of the stairs, where you can relax and have a drink. Good breakfast in the morning, definitely value for money and a lot more charming than the typical business hotels.

"What a gem!"
ralphwho, 14 Avril 2018

We travelled to Stockholm to visit young friends and needed a reasonably priced place to stay but one with atmosphere and charm. The Esplanade Hotel has both! The staff are wonderful, the breakfast sumptuous, the room large - a little old - but clean and airy and a delightfully comfortable bed. The lounge at the top of the spiral staircase was a gorgeous place to sit and have coffee or a glass of wine. The property is in an area that makes the Old Town and most other tourist attractions easily accessible but is not crowded up in the midst of them. We will be back!

"Authentic classy stay"
FamDeManNL, 08 Mars 2018

Very well located hotel at the waterfront in Stockholm. I got upgraded to a superior room with view on the water. Very nice, but if you want a quiet night, the street/waterfront can be noisy because of traffic. The bathroom is authentic as well, which means a lot of water on the floor if you shower. Breakfast buffet perfect but have been nicer to have fresh orange juice if you pay almost €200 per night (it did not help that they added juice from a cheap brand in view of the customer/guests). But I liked the stay.

"We just loved it!"
LuvTaTrek, 06 Mars 2018

The hotel staff welcomed us warmly and treated us as special guests from the moment of our arrival. Corinna and Sandra helped chart our days and provided all kinds of assistance. The breakfasts were terrific and tea and coffee was available all day and night. The location could not be beaten and the rooms were spotless. Truly a great experience!!!

"A quiet hotel with great location"
Paulaast, 21 Février 2018

A nice hotel tucked away from the bustle of the city. Great location with good traffic communications. Small but very quiet room with very comfy beds. The breakfast was delicious and it had lots if choice with some Swedish specialities. Friendly staff including the furry, floppy-eared night concierge!

"Winter time in Stockholm"
Emnuzt, 04 Décembre 2017

Hotel was at excellent location in the city center. Very close to all populat touristic areas. In the rooms and at the rest areas there were valuable furnitures. Breakfast was perfect and totally it was a lovely hotel

"Quiet Hotel"
Val J, 22 Novembre 2017

Tucked away from the main street, the Hotel Esplanade is a real gem. Our room was an average size but quite comfortable. The bathroom is extremely small but a good, hot shower. Breakfast was included and comprised a small range of hot dishes but lots of cheese, meat, fruit and vegetables as well as cereals and yoghurt. Tea, coffee and biscuits are available 24/7 and a fruit basket in the evening. There is a very limited selection of offerings (soup and sandwiches) that can be ordered for dinner. The hotel desk is manned 24 hours a day and the staff are very friendly and extremely helpful. There is no elevator so luggage needs to be carried up the staircase. There are a number of lounge areas where you can relax and read the newspaper or a book or work on your computer using the free wifi. In a good location, close to public transport and within easy walking distance of many museums and attractions, the Hotel Esplanade is a good place to stay.

"Best price/quality ratio"
Marco T, 07 Novembre 2017

This place is a boutique hotel in the centre of stockholm. All the major attractions are within walking distance. The hotel is managed with cure and they do everything for your well being. Bmthe hall at the first floor with free coffe/tee and view of the harbour is great.

"Beautiful hotel in a beautiful neighborhood."
Kathleen L, 02 Novembre 2017

This is a lovely hotel, set back from the street, in a lovely neighborhood of Stockholm, convenient to everything. The staff are extremely helpful for locating good restaurants and activities. Very quiet, very nicely maintained, great value.

"Brilliant stay at this lovely charming hotel"
magpiemaggie, 24 Octobre 2017

Stayed here for 3 nights while here for business meetings. The hotel was in an ideal position and overlooking the boats. Short walk to good choice of restaurants and shops. The hotel is charming and welcoming and very clean throughout. My room was a decent size for a single. Plenty of space to move around - just perfect for me. It was very clean and comfortable. Good shower and very comfy bed. Nice couple of lounges to relax in if you have the time. There was a lovely breakfast buffet with plenty of choice including scrambled or boiled eggs and bacon. Throughout the day and night you have access to coffee and biscuits for free in the dining room. The staff were very friendly and helpful especially Carina and also Elin. When I come back to Stockholm I will definitely be staying here again.

"Classic and charming. "
Pasabeograd, 12 Octobre 2017

We stayed in this hotel for four night and loved everything about it. The location is on the waterfront close to the centre of the new and old towns (10 - 15 min walk). The Art Deco charm of the place is perfect. None of your chain hotel features here. But still has all you could want. Big rooms, great showers, temperature of the room was perfect and comfy beds (a bit on the soft side). The breakfast was fresh with lots of choice. There were plenty of lounge areas to relax in (see photo) and you can get coffee, tea and a biscuit or an apple anytime for free. We'd definitely stay here again.

"Well located"
sullivtm, 11 Octobre 2017

We spent two nights at Hotel Esplanade. The room was perfectly adequate and the beds were very comfortable. The buffet breakfast was great with lots of choice including hot scrambled egg and bacon available. The location was good overlooking the quay and just a short walk to the old town and the museums. The staff were helpful and friendly. We enjoyed our stay.

"Old World Style, Cozy and Welcoming"
NYCJason, 09 Octobre 2017

When we arrived early the woman at the desk said, "Welcome to our hotel." That's always a nice beginning. Even nicer was our room was ready and we checked in at 11 AM. Most rooms are upstairs in this beautiful1910 building that is part of a larger complex on a courtyard overlooking the water, but ours was downstairs. It was small but perfectly adequate. The location cannot be beat - walking distance to everything a visitor might want to see. The common rooms are lovely - especially the 2nd floor living room. The breakfasts were excellent. Across the courtyard is the fancy Hotel Diplomat. They have a great bar for a nightcap (and a very easy walk back to your room!).

"Excellent hotel!"

I had a great time staying at Esplanade. Fully recommend. Hotel has the perfect location combined with very good service and comfortable accomodations. Very nice people. Excellent breakfast. Good deal.

"stock(HOME) sweet home"
Elisabeth U, 09 Septembre 2017

*Wonderful staff service (attentive, considerate, friendly, made us feel at home and taken care of, helpful - gave us great tips for dining and transportation) *BEAUTIFUL VIEW (of the water front) *room was clean, spacious and had many amenities *easy walking distance from main tourist attractions *breakfast was included with stay and delicious and fresh - lots of variety - coffee and water available all day *felt safe *common rooms to enjoy in down time *computer and printer available for guests *the overall feel of the hotel was "make yourself at home" - it was small enough (only 40ish rooms) that you began to recognize faces (especially at breakfast time) and felt almost like a large family - it was a comforting feeling! Not the typical coldness there is at certain chain hotels
