Stayed here for a 3 day pre-cruise vacay. A great hotel in a great location. It is tucked in a very bustling area of Rome. The hotel is quite nice with comfortable rooms. We had a room overlooking the main entrance to the hotel. Staff are very friendly and very helpful. the breakfast area was awesome with a variety of cold/hot food/drink selections There are a lot of shops and restaurants in the immediate area. It is a good area to plan your tours be they self appointed or booked. Would not hesitate to stay here again.

One night here before leaving for airport. Clean, small, many amenities, located near St. Mary Major. Breakfast for 20 euros.

As the owner of Vacation Envy International, I came with a group of 25 clients. We had an excellent stay at the Best Western Plus Hotel Universo in Rome and would definitely stay here again. The location was one of the biggest highlights. The hotel is conveniently located near Roma Termini, which made it very easy to get around the city and take day trips by train. There are also plenty of restaurants, shops, and attractions within walking distance. The hotel staff was consistently friendly, professional, and accommodating. We were traveling with a group, and everything went very smoothly from arrival through departure. The rooms were comfortable and well maintained, and the hotel was a great choice for our stay in Rome. Housekeeping gets 10 stars. My only complaint would be the elevators. During busy times, the wait for an elevator could be quite long. This can be especially frustrating if your room is located on one of the higher floors, such as the 5th, 6th, or 7th floor, because walking up several flights of stairs after a long day of sightseeing is not always practical. That being said, the elevator issue would not stop me from returning. The excellent location, helpful staff, comfortable accommodations, and overall experience far outweighed that inconvenience. I would absolutely recommend the Best Western Plus Hotel Universo to anyone visiting Rome, particularly travelers who want to be centrally located and close to the train station. I would gladly stay here again.

Great location near main bus and train routes. 25/30 minute walking distance from colloseum, Domus Aurea and trevi fountain. Hotel clean, comfortable and staff friendly and helpful. Rooftop restaurant with great views and reasonably priced food and drink would highly recommend.

The Best Western Universo hotel is very conveniently located to the Metro to get around town, as well as some outstanding restaurants within 2 blocks. Our stay at this hotel was pleasurable. The hotel staff is amazing, attentive, and very helpful.

location walking distance from Train station, room clean and all you need, we even asked for our room not to be cleaned as had stuff everywhere, they left a bag of tea,coffee,fresh towels etc hanging on the door. Great hotel close to everything, the little restaurant across the road was fabulous for brekky and dinner. rooms big and bathroom modern and clean.

During planning, Frederica and the rest of the front desk team emailed back & forth with me many times over the course of months answering questions, offering suggestions, and making arrangements for me. They booked our transfer from FCO to the hotel, the transfer from the hotel to pier, and a golf cart tour- which was awesome! We highly recommend staying here - the staff is top notch and our room was clean and comfortable!

Comfortable beds and two tier bedroom with delux. Fabulous breakfast with fresh cooked omelette made well and catering for myself dairy free. Staff very helpful and friendly, knowledgeable on transportation to port and travel in Rome. Couple of tweets Gym all equipment should be 100% and steps in room creaky Love to stay will return

We were greeted by Gabriel he was very helpful in advising/recommending restaurants walking distance and he was correct. Rooms are nice and spacious we had room with three beds only needed two. They offer breakfast at an additional charge if you like to stay. Now I did have one mishap the shower door opens out and is not like me home where glass is locked. I fell out of shower while it was not too bad and I recovered my elbow still hurts. Took baths remaining of my stay. I would recommend staying this is my third stay and not my last.

I continue to agree with the TripAdvisor review of this hotel I wrote in September 2025 -- this multi-faceted big city hotel has a friendly small town feel to it. From Anna and her colleagues at the front desk to breakfast service manager Monica and her fine service team, the staff is top notch. The location -- close to Termini Station, Teatro dell' Opera di Roma, the Baths of Diocletian and more -- is very central. And yet the side streets facing the hotel are relatively quiet. The breakfast offerings are very extensive, including fresh-squeezed orange juice (spremuta), and well-served; the fitness center is a rarity for a hotel in central Rome; and from our (extensive) experience here, the rooms in this solid old building are quiet. This is not a budget hotel, but the room rates are competitive for this expensive city (it helps to be a Triple A or Best Western Rewards member). Recommended for all, we look forward to staying here again in September of this year.

My family and I were just amazed at how much care and thought was given to the comfort of the hotel guests staying in the Best Western Universo hotel. The staff was so kind and professional. As a traveler with a disability I am grateful to have a storage space for my wheelchair. I didn't have to deal with the problem of where to put my wheelchair in my room. When I needed it the staff had it available at a moment's notice. The breakfast buffet was superb. The egg station provided made to order eggs and omelettes. I especially enjoyed the range of breads and cakes. The apple strudel was magnificent. Rooms were very clean and well organized. The housekeeping staff were very friendly and efficient. I do have one suggestion for the guest bathroom. Guests that have a disability may need a bathmat so that they don't slip in the bath tub shower. I carry my own but others may not. It would benefit disabled travelers so that no unnecessary accidents happen. I appreciate the grab bars in the shower. The hotel is more than just enough, from now on when we will be in Rome, my family and I will stay here. You are truly the best in all of Rome!

We had an amazing experience at the Best Western Plus Hotel Universo. It was very clean, friendly and helpful staff. We were leaving for the airport before the breakfast opened so they made us "go" bags of food/drink. The roof top bar was amazing and delicious. It was the perfect way to end our trip.

We stayed here for one night. Pros: - close to Termini, safe neighborhood, quiet, lots of restaurants and shops nearby - kind and helpful staff - comfortable room - good AC - great shower (water pressure and amenities) - lots of counter space in bathroom - great amenities in the room - good price booking directly on the hotel's website Cons: - I recommend asking for a room not facing the street. I don't know if each night is the same, but we were woken up many times by garbage truck, truck cleaning the street, etc. I would stay here again with a room not overlooking the street.

Excellent location for Bars, Restaurants and local buses, staff on Front desk, Cleaners and especially Bar staff were attentive and friendly. Will book again next time we visit Rome

I had a single room for five nights. The room was very clean and housekeeping did an excellent job during my stay. The shower was a good size and the bathroom vanity had plenty of counter space to unpack my toiletries. The bed and pillows were comfortable. The staff was friendly and provided recommendations about things to do during my first day in Rome, which I found helpful. The breakfast buffet had a good variety of options. I booked directly with the hotel. I found the rate on the BW website to be quite a bit cheaper than on the travel sites. I read many reviews prior to booking this hotel. Some reviews mentioned that the area near Termini Station is a bit concerning. Overall, I found it to be typical of any big city. I was a solo female traveler and never felt unsafe in this area. The hotel was far enough from the station to provide a quiet environment, and yet close enough to make it easy to access the train station and metro (about an 8 minute walk) for day trips. There isn't much to do in the area considering all that Rome has to offer, but getting to the center of Rome from this hotel is an easy 15-20 minute walk if you don't want to take the metro.

Stayed at the hotel for three nights and we really enjoyed our stay. Our room was a standard double and it was comfortable and the bathroom was modern with an excellent shower. There are tea/coffee making facilities provided - and a fridge. In the corridor near the lift there was also a water dispenser. Nice touch. We asked reception for an iron - and later a fan as the room was warm (Too early in the season for the air con) - and both were provided within 5 minutes. Breakfast was superb - as was Michael - the egg Chef - always smiling and friendly. All the other staff we spoke to in the hotel were also great. Enjoyed a drink in the bar on the 7th floor. There are also loads of bars and restaurants within a few minutes walk.

Our twin bedded room was a great disappointment. Nothing like the photos on the website. The cord on the electric kettle was in a dangerous state and the kettle itself would sometimes not work. One teabag! The wooden stick given for stirring was not replaced after our first day. Nothing for the bottom of the bath to stop slipping which was of great concern. Staff on reception said they could not pre-book us a taxi so all in all not a good choice of hotel. I would say it was clean and in a good location. We have every intention of returning to Rome but we will certainly not be staying here.

Hotel Universo offers good accommodation conditions, but its main strength is its excellent location, very close to Termini Station and the ease with which you can reach Rome's main tourist attractions, even on foot. Highly recommended.

We stayed at the Best Western Plus Hotel Universo Rome on a bed and breakfast basis, and our overall experience was excellent. The breakfast was varied and absolutely delicious, offering something for everyone. The staff were very friendly, professional, and efficient, always ready to help. The hotel's location is outstanding, making it easy to explore Rome and reach major attractions. Overall, our stay was truly enjoyable, and we would highly recommend this hotel.

Don't book this hotel on booking.com because it can get cancelled. The left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. That was my experience. I arrived at the hotel on December 14th and was told that my reservation had been cancelled by booking.com on December 10th (of course booking.com blames the hotel for cancelling the reservation). Luckily the hotel was able to find a suitable room for us, but it was a stressful situation, being in a different country and continent and not speaking the language. Re the hotel - we had also stayed there in December 2024 and really enjoyed everything about it (location, room, breakfast, amenities) and that's why we chose to book it again in December 2025.

Mixed review. The location is good, the quality of the bed is fine (with the luxury of getting different types of pillows upon request), the bathroom is good. Service however is not consistent - sometimes terrible sometimes excellent. But the worse is probably the design of the room: nothing to do with the pictures. White/ grey Tiles on the floor, cold white and bright lights and almost no natural light if you are on the 1st floor. It looked much closer to a hospital room than a 4* hotel room (despite the facts thst we had a king size bedroom ). So we can't really recommend the place - and if you go, insist getting a high floor room (or at least oone that looks close to the pictures on their website)

I chose this hotel because of the proximity to Roma Termini as I was in transit. It was a very short walk to the hotel, even with luggage. There were quite a few food options nearby (steps away) for dinner and breakfast. There were no problems with them holding my luggage after I checked out so I could explore a bit before having to head back to the station he next day. I booked a single room which was surprisingly big, the bathroom was also pretty big and everything was clean (room 731). There was also a large balcony with patio furniture.

Good rate and service. The team is happy to help, they all are ajustable on issues that's a great value. The hotel situation is really convinient, near the train station, not in the city centre, in rather low noisy neighbourhood.

Clean.Comfortable rooms. Generous supply of towels. Fresh and varied breakfast buffet attended to by an attentive and pleasant staff. Good location for bus service and walking to historic sites. The surrounding streets have several good restaurants.

This was my third time visiting Rome and as much as I would like to rate it 5 stars, 1 star has to be deducted for an outrageous tipping charge. The good: The location is very convenient to Termini station for catching the Leonardo Express or trains to other parts of Italy. You have to be alert and aware of your surroundings when walking 5 minutes to/from the train at night or early morning. We walked to the Trevi Fountain and Spanish steps in about 20 minutes. We reached the Vatican and Coliseum by Metro also in about 20 minutes. The room was amazing. Got a great deal for a king room where the bedroom was on the second floor and a spacious bathroom and living room area was on the lower level. Plenty of room to move around and put your bags down. I've stayed in hotels where the whole room could fit in their bathroom. We even had a balcony but it is too cold in November to really enjoy it. Bathrobes and slippers were provided as well as a kettle, coffee machine and a complimentary bottle of water. Our rate included the breakfast buffet which offered a very wide variety of breakfast options. They even had prosecco available to make a mimosa or enjoy an early bubbly drink. Espresso drinks were available to order. Really appreciated the water refill station by the elevator. The bad: I checked out at 6 AM (disappointed to miss the buffet but had a flight to catch). The front desk gentleman said that there was a 15 € charge per person city tax which I knew about in advance but I was not prepared for a 15 € gratuity for the staff charge. I was so shocked at the charge and felt pressured by him to not decline it but it really upset me. As I didn't want to argue or miss my flight, I reluctantly paid it. I've stayed at many hotels around Europe and even in the USA, where tipping is out of control, and I've never been asked to tip the staff. It's one thing if I'm directly tipping a bellhop but to just ask to add a tip is such a rude, American thing to do. How do I even know if the "tip" is just extra money for the hotel owners or if staff actually receive the tip? I do plan to return to Rome next year and for the right price, I would stay here again. However, I will be declining to tip as it is not the norm in Italy and even the US.

Great location, clean rooms. Reception staff cold and not engaging. Restaurant staff friendly although we didn't eat there due to let down and disinterest of the roof top bar employee. We went to have further drinks and dinner elsewhere.

Overall this is a good hotel. It is very close to the train station and the neighborhood has many restaurants and felt safe at night. We didn't get the breakfast but there is a cheap place a block away that had great food and coffee at a good price. The check in was quick and efficient. The room is clean and nice. Not the biggest but it was nice. We had room to walk around and it came with a fridge but it was more of a mini bar. But the prices were not bad for the drinks in the fridge. The shower is a tub shower combo with a partial door. It can get the bathroom wet on the floor if you are not careful. The bed was a bit hard but they offered many pillows which made it better. I found our room on the 5th floor to be rather quiet. There is a small balcony but we couldn't figure out how to open up the window to get to it. The AC works well and it keeps the room cool. We went in October and the temperatures in Rome were about 70'ish so we didn't need to use it too much. The coffee maker was a kettle and they gave you ground coffee. Not sure how that worked as I have only used coffee makers and Keurigs/Nespressos. I have never really seen that at a hotel and an acutal coffee maker would have been nice. Also you have to put the room key in the slot by the front or the lights cut off. It is annoying as they only gave us one key and I went to get something and the room went dark. I would ask for two room keys if you are in a group of two people. There are like three elevators but one was broken. In the morning it is hard to get an elevator quickly. Next door is a great glass store with Murano glass products. Worth a look and the prices were not horrible.

We stayed for 7 nights at this hotel. It was both a personal and work trip. The housekeeping services were erratic - supplies were not getting replenished. We had to come back every night and ask for things - a bath towel one night, tea bags, creamer, toilet paper. A few front desk staff were helpful - Francesca and Daniel. The rest were not very responsive. On the last day the egg bar closed a few minutes early and the chef was still there but said he could not make our omelettes. The hotel is in a great location - lots of good restaurants around, easy to get taxis on the itTaxi app, close to tourist sights. Our Indian hospitality services are par excellence and this hotel is just average.

We had a great stay, the only thing missing was the closing button from the elevator panel. The room was comfortable and cleaned daily, there were 4 type of pillows we could choose from. The bathroom was quite modern, the only problem I had was with the water hardness. The breakfast was excellent, there was a big variety of food we could choose from and everything was delicious. The coffee must be ordered from the waiters but it is really good. The restaurant is big, there are many tables. The location is excellent, 5-6 minutes walk from Termini Station. I can recommend this hotel.

Excellent location near Rome Termini Train station. Walking distances to major tour sights. Excellent services by front desk and housekeeping. I liked water dispenser located on my room floor so did not need to buy water. Room was clean and relatively quiet. No major street noises. Breakfast was good value, worth getting.

The location is really convenient for the Rome station and it felt safe in the area day and night. The hotel front desk were friendly and efficient and it was easy to leave our luggage until check in time. There are a few restaurants nearby that weren't touristy and it had everything we needed. But, the room was small and there were no drawers or shelves for clothes, just hanging space so we couldn't unpack properly. Luckily, we were only there 2 nights and during the night it was quiet and we got a good night's sleep. Our friends had the room below, 228, which was massive

Best Western Plus Hotel Universo was absolutely fantastic! The staff was welcoming, warm, accommodating, answered all questions with specificity, care and patience, and offered up terrific suggestions for restaurants in the area and activities. The lobby and public areas were beautifully maintained. The room was spacious, impeccably clean, and the toiletries were top notch. They also have a gym with terrific basic equipment and again, very well maintained. Wi-Fi was excellent. The hotel is within walking distance of Termini train station (about 10 minutes), so a great central point for our stay. Thank you to the entire staff for a wonderful trip with my mother!

Very nice, clean hotel. We were first located on the 7th floor, right under the rooftop restaurant, which was very noisy. Went to the desk and they moved us to a quieter room immediately. Even showed us the room first and how quiet it was before we accepted it. Then he helped us move our suitcases to the new room. Excellent location, near almost everything. So many restaurants near by and many of the sites could easily be walked to.we came into Rome by train and easily pulled our luggage to the hotel (no cobblestone sidewalks to worry about). The breakfast was amazing and with a generous selection of items. Very friendly staff at the desk and cleaning the rooms. Would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay again in the future.

While on a cruise which ended in Rome, I fractured my ankle. I had booked a few days to stay in Rome at the end of the cruise, and I knew that I would not be able to navigate the hotel I had previously booked with its stairs and small room. I found myself in need of an accessible room and a wheelchair rental, and I found this hotel online. I called the hotel and spoke with Francesca who gave me all the information I needed on pricing, made a reservation for me, and arranged for a wheelchair rental to be delivered. She took such good care of me. The room was perfect with an accessible shower, grab bars, bathroom counter with adjacent mirror at wheelchair height plus plenty of room to maneuver the wheelchair through the room. It was a lovely room as well with super soft beds with nice linens. The staff was wonderful. It was difficult to get through the streets of Rome in a wheelchair, and while we were able to get pickups for our tours, going out at dinner time to neighborhood restaurants was difficult due to busy streets/no crosswalks/wonky sidewalks/crazy drivers and so on. We found that the rooftop restaurant was just lovely. It was easy to get there in my wheelchair, and the city light view was nice. We had cocktails and pasta there two nights in a row. Buffet breakfast was included as well, and the sweet lady who was there each day to great us was a delight. She helped us find the wheelchair route into the restaurant, and she even called on a staff member each day to help us up the ramps to return to the lobby. I truly cannot say enough wonderful things about this hotel.

We keep returning to Hotel Universo because, for a centrally located big city hotel with a large business and tourist customer base, it offers a relaxed, welcoming small-town atmosphere. This sense of welcome extends from the reception desk to the housekeeping staff and especially to the multi-faceted, excellent breakfast service managed with skill and warmth by Monica and Simone. We highly recommend the superior guest rooms which, while not particularly spacious, offer large terraces facing eastward to the Santa Maria Maggiore papal basilica. And there's an exercise room too, a relative rarity for hotels in Rome. Nothing not to like here, including the Universo's easy access to Termini train station, the Rome opera house, Piazza Republica and the Barberini Museum, among other notable places. We hope to have the good fortune to return yet again.

We stayed here for a few days after a cruise so we could explore Rome. The hotel is in a great location close to Termini station. The staff was polite and helpful. They helped us book a cab to get to the airport. The rooms were clean but a little outdated. We had an upgraded room where the bathroom was downstairs and the bed was in a loft upstairs which was different. The a/c worked great and kept the room cold! We tried to bar/restaurant in the rooftop and it was good! My husband loved the lasagna and I liked the ricotta and cherry tart.

4 day stay in Rome with my wife at this hotel , hotel very clean , modern looking and very friendly staff , our rooms were very today and clean , powerful shower , only gripe was that their is no English channels at all on tv and no draws to put clothes in , out view wasn't great as we were in the inner side of the hotel so just had other rooms opposite , location is fine , 6 min walk to the train stn and 20 min walk to colosseum , restaurants within 100 ft of hotel , we had breakfast incl . Nice food , bacon and the meatballs were lovely , plenty of pastries available . Also what they don't tell u is that when u arrive they take £150 as a deposit until u check out then u pay your hotel tax and then refund u

We stayed at the Best Western Hotel Universo from August 7-10, 2025. We chose this hotel for its rating and its proximity to many of the best sights in Rome. It was a 20 minute walk to the Colosseum, 20 minute walk to the Trevi Fountain and a 5 minute walk to the Basilica of Saint Mary Major. The walk to Vatican City would have been an hour so we took a cab which was a 20 minute drive. The hotel arranged transfers for us from the airport to the hotel and from the hotel to the Port of Civitavecchia after our stay for a very reasonable fee. The location felt safe and had many mid-range restaurants nearby. The staff was amazing. The rooms were a bit dated but provided us with all we needed including a small bar fridge and in-room safe. The rooms are on the small side so pay the extra for a larger room. The air conditioning was also great and we took advantage of it in the middle of the day to escape the August heat and recharge for more adventures later in the day. The hotel also has at least three elevators (one was not working at the time of our visit) which made getting to our rooms that much easier after long days of sightseeing. We would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a place in Rome.

Best Western Plus Hotel Universo gets an A+ rating from me. Excellent, helpful staff. Delicious breakfast! Within 5 minutes walk of the Termini Metro, the location makes getting around Rome by train or bus very easy. I can't give enough complements to do this hotel and its staff justice. Stay here!

We absolutely loved our stay here and were very impressed at every aspect of our stay. We booked a family connecting room, and when we arrived early at 11 am, even though one of the rooms was not ready, they allowed us to check in early to the room that was ready. this enabled us to not only drop off our luggage and use the bathroom, but to catch a quick nap before sightseeing for the day. The family connecting room was better than we imagined. A single door entry leads to a private hallway with access to 2 rooms. The master bedroom had a king sized bed and an additional twin, along with a large bathroom with walk-in shower. The second bedroom also had a king sized bed and an additional twin, with a bathroom with a bathtub+shower. Each room had a hair dryer, safe, TV, and a small mini fridge, and WIFI was available in the room. Though the TVs were not connected to any common streaming apps (nor could I get my Samsung to cast to the TV), the TVs did have HDMI ports, and since I brought a spare HDMI cable, I was able to connect my laptop to the TV to display a movie for our kids in full screen. We would stay at this hotel again!

Our room is beautiful, with a balcony that makes our time in Rome even more special. The hotel is within walking distance of Termini metro station, making it easy to explore all corners of Rome. Today we are looking forward to enjoying the rooftop with its view over the city, and we are sure it will be just as amazing as the rest of our stay. Just leaving Rome with a wonderful stay at Best Western Plus Hotel Universo. The staff are very helpful and the room also very nice. Location wise also great to roam around in the Rome. I had called the hotel prior to arriving and they kindly arranged transportation to and from the hotel. Will definitely return

It is as expected from the reviews. EASY walk from Termini station. Clean. Excellent staff ( we are on day two😊) A bit of noise in the area last night but did not last long. For the convenience it's worth it for us Many restaurants in the area to choose from. Having the Metro so close by is definitely worth another visit

We stayed at the Best Western Universo for two nights in July before our cruise. Hotel was excellent and comfortable in a great location. We were there in the middle of a heat wave, and it was so nice knowing we had a comfortable place to return where the AC would be cranking. There are so many coffee shops, restaurants and bars in the neighborhood of the hotel that we did not utilize the breakfast buffet or restaurant on site, but it looked fine. I would not hesitate to stay here again in future visits. We walked to many of the major landmarks, but did utilize cabs and ubers with no issues as well due to the extreme heat.

Ideal fpr train arrivals and next day departures . The room was comfortable and adequate . Front office are professional and helpful. Location is lively and full of character .many eateries nearby and the regional food court next to the station is great . The hotel has great access to the metro and the airport train .

Excellent location with walking distance to major attractions. Spacious clean rooms. Recommend the roof top bar & restaurant, great view, food and friendly staff. When the lights come on over the city and the heat of the day disappears the atmosphere is very pleasant.

We had a fantastic stay at Best Western Hotel Universo in Rome. Just a 4-minute walk from Termini Station, it's super convenient—especially if you're catching a train to Civitavecchia for a cruise. It's also just a 20-minute walk to both the Trevi Fountain and Colosseum. The room was comfortable and clean, and we were pleasantly surprised by the thoughtful touches—like a water refill station on each floor (a big win when sightseeing in the Roman heat!) and slippers that actually fit my husband's feet—first time ever! The rooftop bar and restaurant were a highlight: great vibes, beautiful views, and delicious food. Fun fact for Project Runway fans—this hotel has been featured on the show during their Rome trips, so you know it's a solid choice. Would absolutely book again. A stylish, convenient, and comfortable base for exploring Rome! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Great hotel within walking distance of the major sites. 20 minutes walk to the Spanish steps one direction, 20 minutes walk to the coliseum another direction, and 20 minutes walk to the trevi fountain yet another direction. We booked a triple room which gave us a king bed and also a twin. Very spacious, well-air conditioned, AND TWO BATHROOMS! One bathroom had a double sink and bath/shower combo, while the other bathroom had a big walk-in shower. Huge for a Europe hotel room. There is a good breakfast spot just around the corner and multiple trattorias just a 5 minute walk down the street. Hotel is extremely clean with daily housekeeping and has free cold water dispensers on every floor to fill your water bottles before heading out for your daily adventure.

Very nice place to stay for our first time in Rome. Was in walking distance of a lot of the major attractions with numerous restraunts near. We where able to get a good nights sleep with the beds and tempature of the room being very comortable. We took the train from the airport and walked to the hotel from the terminal. The front desk staff told to get a taxi back to the airport which was a good call.

We had 4 days in the BW Plus. It was a simple 5 min walk from the train station in Rome. 5 mins to the subway and surrounded by restaurants. Check in/Out. This went smooth in both cases. On the check in we were greeted nicely and they even made a room change for us to a 2 single beds room. Simple enough and no change in cost. Room. The room was spacious for European rooms. Bathroom was a bit small but we don't live in it. Beds were comfortable and I got a nice sleep nightly. The room came with a safe, hot water maker and the usual tea/coffee set up. It was mostly quiet the entire time. Housekeeping. They kept the room clean and gave us new towels daily. Beds made and all in all great job. There are restaurants and breakfast at the hotel but we did not use them. We tried to eat out most dinners and did carry in for breakfast items the night before. A couple nice items. There are filtered water dispensers so you can keep refilling your water bottle -we loved that. And they had great city maps which we used daily to find all the places we were seeing. The biggest complaint? The elevators were slow. There were many of them but they were just slow. Does it affect my review -not at all. I would stay here again and recommend it just for the convenience to transportation and the clean room.

Terrible experience in the Best Western Plus Hotel Universo Roma Allegation (1) We stayed on the top most the 7th floor but the roof was used as a disco/bar, where the venue was claimed to be closed at 2300 hours. However, crazy music was turning up to maximum throughout the night. We were unable to bed until midnight after making repeatedly complaining. Allegation (2) My friend's Supervisor Room with Balcony (at the highest price) was downgraded to a lower category of room due to a/c defectives but the Hotel had never tried mentioning compensation and taking remedial measures. Never try this Hotel as it was unable to provide pleasant and peaceful environment to hotel guests.

Great location with superb staff. The room was large and airy with very comfortable beds. There was an excellent selection of items for breakfast. The only fault was the lack of power points - there was one in the bathroom and 2 in the bedroom. The one in the bedroom was low voltage and took an age to recharge my mobile phone.

Great location and good service. The beds were comfy and the rooms air conditioned. Breakfast was plentiful and a huge choice of different options. The staff were exceptional. A couple of negatives though in our room you could not sit up in bed against the headrest to watch TV without banging your head on a bizarre halfway wall coming down from the ceiling. The 'roof top bar' was pretty disappointing - nothing like the photos, no finishings or plants or decor, just sparse chairs and tables. I believe it's just been reopened but it doesn't seem finished! Looks like a DIY job and you can still see screws on the surfaces, not covered or capped off. The 'railings' to stop you if you leant over the edge are actually plastic baler twine looped round the pillars and wouldn't stop anything! We ate up there one evening as the main restaurant was closed and it was quite a limited menu and pretty average.

My wife and I have stayed at the Best Western Universo at least 10 times over the past decade. We very much like its location, close to the Termini rail station, the Rome Opera House, several good restaurants and of course, interesting museums. The rooms -- especially the "superior" category rooms with balconies facing east, in view of Santa Maria Maggiore Basilica (final resting place of Pope Francesco) -- are quiet, well-kept and spacious enough. The front desk staff is welcoming, courteous and efficient. The breakfast is bounteous, large and varied, one of the best settings anywhere. And the large team of breakfast servers -- led by Monica, a warm and charming lady -- is world class. In all respects, the Universo is a friendly "home away from home" for us in the Eternal City, and we look forward to our next visit.

Amazing Stay in the Heart of Rome! The hotel was fantastic—great location, close to everything we wanted to see and do. The service was outstanding, and the staff made us feel very welcome. Our room had everything we needed, including robes and slippers, which was a nice touch. We'll definitely stay here again the next time we're in Rome and will be recommending it to all our friends!

I had such an amazing experience at this hotel back in 2014 traveling solo- I decided to stay here again this time but with very good friends and family ten years later. I was so happy I did the rooms are still very comfortable clean and well kept up. The breakfast is the BEST buffet I have ever had in any hotel in Europe. The BW Universo knows how to do it. They have so many selections ( Eggs, meats, breads, cereals, pizza, juice, coffee) having breakfast in the hotel is not only delicious but it saves time. Great job again! The staff at the hotel is very friendly and very willing to help and offer suggestions. Location is great close to the main rail station, and so many restaurants, and shopping and convenience right there. This hotel is great.. Stay here you will love it. Thank you Beat Western Universo you made me happy again 10 years later. When I come back to Rome for a third time ( whenever that will be) I will for sure stay here again.

Big, clean, modern, quiet room, able to check in early, fantastic breakfast spread with great service. Good location near train/metro stations. Multiple elevators available so no delay to get upstairs. Highly recommend to stay while in Rome.

Best western universo is in a brilliant location, the rooms are lovely and clean but the staff are what make it a great stay! They were incredibly helpful and kind to me and my sister when our shuttle transfer to the airport didn't arrive. They helped us contact the company and when they didn't show they helped us book a taxi to the airport instead. I felt extremely looked after and everyone at the desk is incredible. Thankyou so much!

Fantastic location and stay, from when we arrived the reception staff were amazing. The cleaning staff did amazing every day. What made our stay though was Monica who greeted us every day for breakfast, she was friendly and warm and made you feel like family she was so amazing. The only thing I would advise, whilst it was a novelty to have an upstairs, J would advise if you gave bad knees or need to go toilet don't get an upstairs room.

What a perfect location ! 4min walk from the train station. Clean comfortable room. Everything you would expect in a Best Western plus. Just a taxi ride away from The Vatican and Colosseum along with other historic sites. Many local restaurants in walking distance. Would definitely stay there again !

We stayed 12 nights at the Universo and it was a great experience. Our stay started with Francessca, a wonderful person at check in. Our room, 631, was large and had extra room for hanging clothes. The king bed was conformable; plenty of desktop space to lay our necessary items; refrigerator; and a street view. Wifi worked great. The bathroom was clean and bright; the shower had a grab bar and plenty of hot water. We had many encounters with people at the check-in desk and all were fantastic, especially Danielle, Anna, Federica, and Lorenzo. Thanks to Martin, Michaele, and Christiano as well. The helpers on our floor, Aspy and Marlene, continually asked us if we needed anything. There was a water machine on our floor for hot and cold water. The breakfast offering was very large and diverse with salad, fruit, meats, cheeses, pastries, breads, eggs and egg whites, coffees, juices, and water among other things. Monica, who was the breakfast host was marvelous. Anthony, Simone, and Paolo took great care of us at breakfast. There is a small gym. The Universo is a 5-minute walk from the train station for the train that comes from the FCO airport. This station also has fast trains that go to many other cities in Rome. We went to Pisa, Florence, Milan, Lake Como, Venice, Verona, and Naples for either day trips or overnight trips. Within and next to the train station is the Metro, an underground subway with 3 lines that can take you close to most all Rome landmarks. You can buy a daily ticket or we bought a 7-day ticket. There are buses next to the train station that can take you to other areas of Rome. The same ticket that you buy for the Metro subway can be used for the buses. Ask at the front desk or you can look online for where these travel. Many places to see, shop, and eat close by. Ottoviano Metro station is close to St. Peters and there are many shops nearby that stop. Bus 81 and 64 also take you many places. I am a BW diamond select member, but at this hotel, breakfast is not free/included. At some other Best Western hotels in Italy breakfast is free for Diamond Select members or members and their guests.

Excellent hotel in a great location. A warm welcome on check in. Breakfast was really good with a varied menu. All the staff were great. Room was as expected for a standard double. Daily service with clean towels. Tea and coffee and a mini bar. Perfect for a city break. 5 minutes from the train station with plenty of restaurants nearly. Highly recommended

Great location within walking distance to many sites and just a 5-minute walk to Roma Termini Train Station. We booked a room with a king bed, and it was very spacious. The breakfast was excellent with lots of options. This hotel was a fantastic choice for our stay in Rome.

We opted for this hotel based on the location, near Termini Station. This worked out perfectly for us and made use of the Metro easy. My only complaint is the bed pillows were flat and hard. All other hotel amenities were excellent and met or exceeded expectations. We found it so easy to find the hotel and leaving for an early morning flight was smooth and stress-free using the Leonardo Express train from Termini. Highly recommend.

Location is good, that's why it's a little pricey, 5 minutes walk to Termini, room is decent size 25ish m², clean n recently updated, Front desk is helpful, there's a gym, but we didn't use it. The only downside is no power plug next to your bed. How to keep your cellphone charged at night, right? ?

It's a great hotel. My room (Superior, with a balcony) was very comfortable, spacious and very clean. It provided all the facilities we need. The view from the balcony was breathtaking! The breakfast is perfect! I strongly recommend this hotel.

Large hotel, easy walk with large suitcase, to/from Termini railway station for regional trains and metro. We felt very comfortable walking around this area. Frequent bus services to the usual tourist sites in streets close to hotel and at Termini. Reception staff were friendly, spoke excellent English and most were helpful. The property is serviced by three lifts. Small room is cosy, but adequate for two people. Two chairs, spacious bathroom, walk-in shower equipped with a grab bar. Air con was very quiet and the opening window very welcome. Blackout curtains were excellent. Some noise from adjoining rooms. Our room was serviced daily. Two chairs, a small wardrobe, kettle with tea coffee, frig. One English language TV channel. More power points and charging points and a second baggage stand would be useful. We found the light switches complicated and confusing. Dining room offers breakfast (E16) and dinner and room service breakfast is available. Ice available from the bar and purified water from dispenser on each floor to refill bottle in room. Many reasonably priced restaurants serving tasty dinners within a minute's walk from the hotel. Restaurant Bar L'Europeo, on diagonally opposite cornet was our favourite. A tabac (closed Sunday) in the next block sells tickets for bus, metro etc.

We stayed here for 10 days in Feb 2005. From the moment we arrived the staff were outstanding- very friendly and Professional. The rooms are large, the bathrooms are excellent and the are kept beautifully clean. Would recommend this hotel - great location for the Termini and all attractions- we walked everywhere!

Very friendly staff, lovely ambience and wonderful buffet breakfast, rooms were immaculate and plush. The Hotel is in easy walking distance to the main tourist attractions, it's situated in a quiet side street, there's plenty of great bars and Restaurants close by.

The breakfast buffet was GREAT! Do not skip that, it's 100% worth it. Yes you can find elsewhere some menus for €5-6, but this buffet is fresh and it has cold cuts, warm dishes, Italian pastries, fruit, and cappuccinos! Front desk staff was very welcoming and professional, room was comfortable, only minor thing is the lack of insulation, so you may hear your neighbor sneeze. Otherwise it's an excellent central choice to stay in Rome.

Stayed 3N over the weekend for the 6 Nations (Italy v Wales). Location is very convenient for the Termini station & walking everywhere. Lovely large, clean rooms. All staff friendly and helpful. Restaurant staff (we booked 1/2 board, so breakfast & evening meal inc which was fantastic value & welcomed after several miles walking each day) deserve special mention as all were extremely helpful and friendly.

We have just returned from a very comfortable stay here. Checking in was easy and we were able to access our rooms early. Our rooms were comfortable and spotlessly clean. Thanks to the housekeeping staff for keeping our rooms this way for the duration of our stay. No traffic noise in our room, ensuring a good night's sleep in the massive bed. Not the best shower ever, but perfectly adequate. The buffet breakfast was wonderful, so much choice and a highlight for me was the machine freshly squeezing delicious orange juice. Breads, cheeses, meats, fresh fruit, cakes, salads, pizza, hot items - too much to list it all here, but definitely something for everyone. The staff serving coffee etc were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is very close to Termini Station, but we walked everywhere anyway. Lots of sights to see nearby and many choices of eateries. Very happy with our stay and would come again if we return to Rome. Many thanks.

Very well located hotel within walking distance to Roma Termini & tourist attractions. Rooms are spacious with everything working flawlessly. There is gym and restaurant in the hotel and they had complimentary coffee in lobby for guests.

One of the best hotel ever stayed abroad. Staff were very friendly and helped us with all our needs. As well they advised us which tours were best around rome. Good choice of breakfast and Good coffee :). We took dinner on our last night at the hotel restaurant i was impressed how good was the cacio and pepe. Well done and keep it up. I highly recommend staying at Best Western Universo. The location suited us, it was close to the termini and we were were catching trains too and from Rome. The room was modern, practical and spacious which was great as we stayed for 5 nights! Breakfast was a large spread and the kitchen was working overtime as the place was always busy. Rooftop bar was a highlight of the stay. Big thanks to the concierge who assisted in arranging a taxi and directions to a 24 hour tourist medical centre when I became unwell during the night.

Nice hotel a few minutes walk from termini station where the bus from Campino airport drops you off. Reception staff ok. Booked a mezzanine room which was large, comfortable and adequate for our stay. Buffet breakfasts were OK but there were some dubious concoctions like rice with curry and pizza (for breakfast?). Sat quickly and Monica the head waitress was lovely and smiley. All the sites of Rome are easily accessible from here. If not in walking distance we used the round tour big pink bus which was hop on/off for a fixed price ticket lasting 48 hours. Only issue is if its full and you can't get on you have to wait up to 20 minutes for the next one and hope you can get on. Bought our colluseum tour tickets from hotel reception, good tour by Nicoletta who was wonderful. All in all if you're doing rome for a few days then the Universo hotel is a very good option and we'd come here again.

Excellent hotel very close to Roma Termini. The hotel was very clean and the staff provided excellent service. The breakfast buffet was very good with a wide selection. The staff was very attentive, friendly, and provided top service. I would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend this hotel.

I had an amazing stay at this hotel, which is perfectly located just a short walk from Termini Station. The neighborhood is vibrant and lively, yet peaceful and quiet. The staff were exceptionally friendly and accommodating, always ready to assist. I must also mention the breakfast – it offered a fantastic variety of options. The room was spotless, with everything I needed for a comfortable stay. Overall, I'd give this hotel a 10/10. I highly recommend it for anyone visiting Rome!

The hotel is well-equipped. We had a 3-bed room of good size with a very nice bathroom. The fitness-center is up to date, and the sauna was working (late october, daytime temperature outside about 22 °C). We tried the rofftop restaurant and were very pleased with the look (at Santa Maria Maggiore), the food, and the service. Breakfast was surprisingly good, it included basically every type of food we could think of (fresh fruit, meats, cheese, eggs in all varieties, cake, muesli,...). We would choose this same hotel if we visited Rome again.

We came in a couple of days before our cruise and needed a convenient place near the Termini train station. I've read in the past when you are in this area you need to be careful. We had absolutely no problems. The area was very safe even at night This hotel is a gem for location with a lot of places to dine and stores to shop. The location is fantastic! Just a couple of short blocks from the train station to the hotel..We arrived very early and was pleasantly surprised our room was ready. The check-in was professional, friendly, and very helpful. There's a water refill on all floors and the rooftop lounge with the, views of St. Mary Major Basilic, was the highlight for us after spending a long day walking the wonderful streets of Rome. I highly recommend this this hotel and will not hesitate to stay again.

This hotel by far is the BEST hotel in the area. It's affordable, not far from the train station and surrounded by restaurants and museums. The rooms are spacy and the beds ( I happened to book 3 different rooms) and all were truly comfortable. MARCO the front desk concierge is a true asset to the Best Western Hotel. Marco is helpful and guarantees a solution to any of your problems (if any). Marco is the go to guy for a friendly face and a helpful explanations and advice. A true asset.

I would highly recommend this hotel if you are visiting Rome. The location was perfect and close to the metro station. Great atmosphere. The staff were very accommodating. The room we stayed in was very spacious and comfortable. I thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast too.

Best Western Plus Universo was a wonderful surprise in Rome. Will check for BW whenever we travel abroad from now on ! Saw the Vatican, Closseum and Trevi Fountain. Just a short taxi ride or Hop on Hop Off away. Got to enjoy the yummy food at nearby restaurants and Caffe's. Highly recommend !

This hotel is in a great location and close to many points of interest. The staff was very friendly when we arrived and we had fun chatting with Marco. Our room was nice and spacious. We found it comparable to other 4-Star+ hotels that we stayed in during our visit to other parts of Italy. Prior to our arrival, I emailed the hotel to ask about parking our rental car. They recommended a garage that's a half block away from the hotel. It was so convenient to have it parked nearby.

Beautiful room! We were upgraded to a junior suite with a balcony on top of being able to check in early. Soon as we opened the balcony door we could hear the church bells which added to the ambiance of being in Rome. Since we are gold members, he also gave us free breakfast that was amazing! Could not believe the selections on top of fresh squeezed orange juice. The rooms also come with fluffy robes and slippers. Nice touch! We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Rome. Very walkable to Colluseum which is beautiful at night. Use your cell phone for directions because there are no street signs. Very close by is the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, which is breathtaking inside! Also when going to the Trevi fountain go inside the Benetton store, 2nd floor and there is a beautiful view of the fountain without the crowd!

The location was excellent. The staff very helpful.excellent breakfast and the rooftop restaurant was outstanding for both food and views. The room was spacious and comfortable and the large safe was great. Complementary water in the room was a plus. Water filling stations a great bonus.

This was our fourth stay at the hotel and hopefully will not be the last. We have never found anything to complain about during previous stays and this time was no exception. We were welcomed back warmly by the receptionist who was very efficient and helpful as indeed are all the staff. We always book a superior room with balcony on the 7th floor and really like those rooms, the balcony is large with a sunlounger as well as a table and chairs and a nice view of the domes and tower of the Santa Maria Maggiore church. It's pleasant (and remarkably quiet for the centre of such a big city) to sit out there with a drink and relax. The standard of cleanliness in the rooms and public areas is very good. A complimentary bottle of drinking water was provided in the room which could be refilled from a machine in the corridor which dispensed both cold and hot water, and there was a kettle with supplies of tea and coffee plus a mini fridge in the room. For the first time, we had breakfast in the hotel during our stay, having been told when checking in that it would be free for Best Western Rewards Scheme Gold members, which was a nice surprise. The range of food and drinks available, and the service from the staff, was most impressive and it was nice to see that care had been taken to cater for guests with special dietary requirements. My husband is vegetarian and liked the fact that items like cheeses were served on separate trays and with separate serving implements from meat products. Although we didn't need them I noticed that vegan croissants and cakes, plus soya milk, oat milk and almond milk were all freely available from the buffet and clearly labelled, so guests didn't have to feel like a nuisance by having to request them specially. There was even prosecco available although I resisted the temptation! Breakfast normally costs €16 per guest, and compared with what that will buy for breakfast in nearby cafes in the area, I think it would be worth paying.

This hotel is very well-located -- close to Termini Station, several good restaurants, the Baths of Diocletian Museum and much more. Staff is welcoming and the breakfast offerings are extensive and of very good quality. There's a small but adequate fitness center and two desk-top computers for guest use. The superior level guest rooms are comfortable and most important, have balconies with views to the east dominated by the twin spires of the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, one of Rome's most important and imposing churches. We have stayed several times and hope to again.

We stayed at Best Western for 3 nights, never had any problem during our stay. With wide selection in their breakfast buffet. Loved the cappuccino and fresh orange juice. Best Western Plus Hotel Universo was well located. We had a nice room with a coffee machine for coffee/tea. We had free wif-fi. I would have preferred to have breakfast included but it was additional fee. I would have liked a pool but there wasn't one. Front desk staff do their job but are not super friendly. One of the reasons I picked this hotel is that they have a pick up from the airport for a fee. It was worth it since we didn't have to go in the trains. The driver waited for us and sent a WhatsApp message. He drove very fast and roads are super bumpy. Overall, we had a nice stay.

Fantastic hotel within a 5min walk from Termini Roma. Friendly staff, great room size, very clean, toilet is all equipped including tooth brush, shower cap, shoe shine, face clothes and a hairdryer, shampoo, conditioner and hand soap. Mini bar has some drinks in it.

Walking distance to Rome termini and near hop on hop off bus stations, lots of restaurants down the street. AC is a little weak but acceptable considering over 30 C outside in late August. Room is clean but no view. Staff is helpful to call a taxi to airport during busy hour.

A very nice hotel experience for our family. We had two rooms of which were fully functional and met our needs. Staff was professional and able to provide direction as well as assist in securing a taxi in a timely manner. The location was close in proximity to various historical areas many which are in walking distance. Also, if taking the train with light luggage it is within walking distance.

Very clean and comfortable stay (besides two rude staff members- one front desk lady and one female server at the rooftop bar). Otherwise, the male front desk staff and the cleaning service team were so nice and welcoming. The location was adequate, near termini and a few restaurants and shops. I would book here again if I'm needing to save on costs.

Went to Rome for a long weekend and stayed in the best western universo hotel. From start to finish we couldn't have been treated any better. Every member of staff were so courteous and friendly. Room was lovely and well tended to daily with clean towels etc. Mini fridge in the room is a great idea. We were on a b&b rate and the breakfast was so good. Lots of different foods to choose from, fruit, cereals, fried breakfast and so many breads and pastries. Staff came around this morning and offered us cappuccino for breakfast and came with fresh baked pastries, delicious treat. Roof top bar was a lovely way to finish off the day after sight seeing around the beautiful city of Rome in scorching hot weather. Very central location and hopefully we will make it back again for another visit soon. Thank you one and all for everything.

We booked two suites for our family of 6. The rooms were spacious and comfortable with one balcony Queen bed and one single bed on the main floor of the suite. The front desk staff were helpful and efficient. Upon arrival we were offered early check in which we all appreciated.. The breakfast was expansive with many choices. The dining staff were quick to offer specialty coffees or espresso. We found the location to be good with a variety of restaurants and easy walks to a number of key sites.

Nice hotel. GREAT air conditioning. Nice terrace for drinks. Wash cloths ?. Large rooms with very comfortable beds. Close to Termini if you are taking the train to Florence or other areas and using transportation. Area is safe. We asked around after midnight and had no concerns. Good food close by. ENohjt e-bike tour starts near the hotel and is a GREAT experience. We would stay here again.

This hotel was second to none. We were greeted by Marco with a smile. Our room was spotless and the air conditioning was exceptional and so lovely to come back to after sightseeing in 38 degrees. The breakfast was delicious with an extensive choice. The highlight for us was the rooftop bar and breathtaking views. The staff are outstanding and nothing was too much trouble . We will be back .

Best BW property I've ever seen. Exceptional location near the main terminal in Rome (walking distance). Close to more restaurants than you can imagine. We walked to most of the best sights and easily caught the bus/subway to the others. Very clean everything.Very helpful front desk staff and housekeeping. Rooms were spacious and beds were very comfortable. Bathroom was huge (triple room). Not many hotels have more than 1 bed in Europe. We were traveling with our son, and did not need another room, just another bed. This hotel had triple rooms, which are a King with a single bed. In our case, there were 2 extra singles. So, it's perfect for families. We feel very lucky to have stayed here on our European summer trip from the U.S. No other properties compared and were this affordable. The rooftop bar was the icing on the cake. ?

We got a card declined message way prior to the cancellation due date so messages to get this sorted before finally calling the hotel to say we will pay 2 days in advance which we did and booking was confirmed. Then a day prior to us flying log in to see reservation cancelled which we had to call bookings who said call hotel and hotel who said must be some error by bookings and that it's all confirmed. It definitely was quite worrying but rest assured we were somewhat fine. We had booked for 3 adults with breakfast included but had mailed hotel only two of us are able to travel so we opted for the superior room with balcony at the same price for the three adults as has booked a while back. Reached there to be informed breakfast was not included which later upon checking were assured was complimentary! Having stayed in the chain before room and bathroom with shower was decent size for 2. Regular cleaning was done and two water cartons were complimentary. I had also requested some chocolates or balloons to be arranged for birthday with message which was sorted but the chocolates were not used by us so left behind. The note was nice. The bath shower door needs to be tigthened. The bath shower needs to be filled daily we had none left the night before we checked out. The hand shower couldn't be fixed in a way we could use it maybe needs to be checked. Shower pressure was good. Water used to not drain easily as should in the shower tray. The card was charged for 4 nights though we had paid before for 2 nights which we mentioned at reception to sort out as our card didn't work on a certain purchase. The breakfast was a highlight not just for the food choices but the staff who made the special occasion so extra special by getting a cake with a candle, daily greeting us with a wide warm smile. This is not like any Best Western you've been to in North America. It is a more upscale hotel with marble floors and elegant decor. We stayed here for our last night in Italy. I chose it due to its proximity to the train station as we were coming back from Positano via the train from Napoli. It really was a 5 minute walk as Google Maps promised. The room was cool - the bed was up a small set of stairs in a loft style while the bathroom and closets etc. were downstairs. The bathroom was well stocked with toiletries, and had a multifunction shower which was nice. Breakfast was included and there were so many different items to choose from. They had traditional English breakfast foods such as eggs, bacon and toast as well as pastries and fresh fruit. The also had a juicing machine that made fresh squeezed orange juice (so delicious!). The next day the concierge called a taxi for us to take us to the airport. We were a bit wary of doing this ourselves as we have heard about people getting ripped off by taxi drivers, so having a driver that is recommended by the hotel (with a guaranteed rate) made us more relaxed. Overall, I would highly recommend the Best Western Universo in Rome.

After a mediocre hotel experience else where in Rome this was a highlight of the Roman stay. We will use Best Western on future occasions over any others.

The rooms are quite small. The TV should have more English language programs. Breakfast is great.many choices of food and beverages.

Stayed here for 3 nights and had a wonderful stay. Staff at reception were friendly and helpful. The room surpassed expectations, complementary tea coffee and water in room, along with dressing gowns and slippers, which were a great touch. Very clean hotel with a amazing breakfast selection, would recommend adding breakfast to your stay. Very close to the train station and tourist attractions thank you for a wonderful stay, would stay again!

This hotel is great. The location near the Termini Rail Station, Metro and Bus station makes it ideal. The buffet breakfast with fresh orange squeeze juice and espresso/cappuccino freshly served to your table was refreshing. We had the two level room/loft with high ceilings made for a romantic lodging. Lorenzo courteous and polite, and was helpful and made sure everything we needed was taken care of without hesitation. The entire staff from the restaurant, reception, rooftop night-bar, and housekeeping was simply superb. I will definitely stay here again, and I highly suggest if you stay here, you will not be disappointed.

We arrived very early from a cruise and the staff found us a terrific room so we could relax before heading out to do some hop on-hop off bus tours of the city. They organised transport to the airport too. We had a room at the front of the hotel and we enjoyed watching the area transform as the street cafes opened in the evening.

We were looking for a hotel near Roma Termini and came across the Best Western Hotel Universo. It was within easy walking distance of Termini (5 min). The check-in was smooth and our room was great. They have the best breakfast I have ever had at a hotel ... don't miss it! The front desk was very helpful in helping us with transportation, dining recommendations and directions. All-in-all, the hotel was a highlight of our Rome experience.

This was a great hotel near the Rome train station. The rooms was great with a balcony and the staff was great. The breakfast buffet was great. There was great restaurants near by for lunch and dinner. Also several churches to visit and the Opera house.

The Universo is a consistently good hotel we have enjoyed several times over the past decade. The location is excellent, convenient (but not too close!) to Termini Station, several good restaurants and a wide variety of museums and other attractions. The building is very solid and quiet; the breakfast service is among the very best in Italy; and the prices are not inexpensive but fair. Perhaps most of all the service is excellent. Two staff members who deserve special commendations are Marco at the front desk and breakfast room manager Monica, for their superior, attentive and customer-friendly service.

Reception staff were very helpful, very clean hotel. Our main problem was the lack of food choice, time for food to arrive, also sometimes it was not hot, other couple waited 2 hours for their meal. We could only eat on the roof terrace as main restaurant was not open, unsure as to why.

Good location near Termini station but sadly it was very noisy. A large American tour group leaving early in the morning made so musch noise waking each other up and slamming doors it woke us and was very annoying listening to them in the hallways. We also had trouble accessing our room-the swipe tag would not work. Staff had to come up to help us gain access. There was a very large wet area on the carpet next to the bathroom, they gave us towels to leave there to soak it up. they said it had recently been cleaned but it was very wet. Then later on we saw that we didn't actually have any towels for a shower. On the positive side the staff at the front desk were very helpful in arranging a car to the airport, as Rome had a public holiday the day we were departing and the trains were going to be unpredictable.

We decided to visit Rome on an overnight at the last minute and selected this hotel for its location and great ratings. It did not disappoint.

We stayed in the hotel for 4 nights on our recent visit to Rome. We had a lovely welcome and all the reception staff could not be more helpful. Our room was lovely and the bed was so comfortable! Our room faced the road but there wasn't any noise. The room was clean and had a lovely bath. The hotel is in a perfect location for all the places we wanted to visit. The breakfast buffet is by far the best we've ever had. So much choice and all lovely and fresh. The staff at breakfast were very helpful and friendly. I would definitely recommend this hotel!

The room was small but adequate. The beds were comfortable. The pillows were not ideal but this was fine for the 5 nights we were in Rome. There was very limited storage space but we managed. The room was very quiet. Our room faced an internal courtyard & it was nice to open the window to get a fresh breeze. The hotel is located about a 5 min walk from the Termini bus & train station, which made navigating Rome very easy. Our main issue with the room was that the shower was very slow to drain. We could not have the water on full blast because the shower would flood. We reported this to the front desk but no improvements were made. The staff were very friendly & helpful. I had asked for an early check in, since our flight landed at 8am. Our room was ready by noon, which was nice. Breakfast was wonderful. They had croissants that could be filled with various flavors of chocolate - these were amazing. There was a nice selection of food to try. We also enjoyed having drinks at the rooftop bar. The view was nice. There are lots of restaurants close by to walk to.

Great place to stay while in Rome. Location was perfect. Staff were very helpful and friendly. All of our needs were met each day. Rooms were very clean and cheerful. I would stay here again and will most certainly recommend to my family and friends.

We had an opportunity to spend a couple of days in Rome and stayed at the BW Plus Hotel Universo. It was a wonderful experience as the place was really nice. Great location allowed us to walk to many beautiful sites. Super clean, friendly staff and a fantastic breakfast buffet. Would definitely stay again.

Our breakfast for 16 days was complete and had variety. Everything a guest can possibly expect or desires in his first meal of the day was served and presented in an enticing manner. The beverages left nothing to ask for, the meats were more than sufficient. The salads, fruits, pastries & breads and cheese were impressive. Most highly appreciated in the Best Western Universo experience was the efficient, helpful and engaging staff from the front desk like Martin to the breakfast servers Anthony, Paolo, Aldo, Simone, supervisor Fabrizio who made us feel special and important. They always asked what else we wanted to thoroughly enjoy the breakfast. Congratulations to the Best Western team!

The hotel more than satisfied our expectations. Room and bathroom was clean and comfortable. The hotel is in a very nice location, 5 minutes from the main Transport Terminal for trains, trams and buses. There are many surrounding restaurants to choose from and it is in reasonable walking distance to shopping and some site seeing.

Hotel itself was lovely and in a really good location. It was clean and tidy. Very short walk to the main train terminal and very short walks to bus stops including all the hop on hop off buses. Breakfast was really good, lots of different options including cooked, fruit, salad, pancakes, waffles, pastries and cakes. Good selection of drinks and freshly squeezed orange juice. Had dinner one evening at the hotel which was also nice, not a huge menu but could choose something from it. The rooftop bar is a lovely place to sit and enjoy a drink and the young lad that works up there was lovely and very friendly. Most of the staff were very friendly unfortunately the reception staff and management were just plain rude and this put me off the hotel completely so I personally would not stay there again because first impressions count. We were lied to by both the reception staff and management and to me that makes me not want to recommend the hotel to anyone. I spent hours before travelling and booking to actually find a twin room as I was travelling with my mum as a lot of hotels only had doubles and they gave us a room without even a full sized double bed in, we had proof with us from the booking that we had booked a twin room but they said there were no other rooms available but funnily enough they had one when another €120 was paid on top of what we had already booked so we paid more for exactly what we had booked in the first place which wasn't cheap. Again reception staff were rude when checking out so personally I was not sorry to see the back of the hotel, this is such a shame as all other areas of the hotel were really good and all other members of staff very friendly. Just the reception staff and management that let the hotel down

Spent a week at this hotel, cannot fault it in anyway. Perfectly situated beside the main train station and metro. Really welcoming hotel either way all the amenities you need. Rooms were excellent nice and modern with great bathroom. Reception and restaurant staff were excellent at all times very helpful. A special mention for the cleaning staff on the 4th floor, always willing to help and greeted us with a smile and a chat. Take time to visit the roof top bar, with great views of Rome. I really can't fault the hotel in any way. If you want to really enjoy the real Rome, this is the place to stay. Fabulous choice of restaurants on your doorstep and well priced. Thanks for making our stay memorable.

Had a great experience. The room was comfortable and spacious. Get the superior room with the balcony, so worth it. Never had breakfast but its available. Reception is a tad slow but very helpful and engaging. Would definitely stay again when in Rome

Best location with great service. The rooms were cleaned every day and they were very accommodating. We arrived early and they let us check in. We were close to all of Rome's attractions, stations and bus routes, everything was within walking distance.

As couples over to explore Rome and take in the rugby we all found this an excellent base. Close to train station for arrival via airport Leonardo express ( 5min walk). Rooms good space comfortable beds shower over bath. Breakfast has the best moist scrambled eggs amongst freshly squeezed oranges , proscecco and everything else you would expect for 16euro. So many places to eat out that didn't try dinner menu but bar open to about 1130ish with very friendly staff. Highly recommend and easy to walk to so many sights within 30min

stayed here for the last night in Rome before morning flight. There's nothing that's unique / special about the hotel that makes this a destination hotel (nor it ever tries to be). but I'd note that it was certainly better than my expectation and plenty good for the purpose it served for me. would definitely stay here again if I need to book another transit hotel. Pro: fast checkin/fast checout location was very close to termini The room was unbelievably spacious for its price but I think I got upgraded without anyone telling me they did. bed was very plush and unexpectedly very nice. con: elevator seemed to get crowded at times

We stayed at this hotel at the end of November last year and we were pleasantly surprised by the hotel itself, as we had a very good location and a nice, modern room for an affordable rate. The 3 of us shared a 2-level deluxe room and loved the balcony, which we didn't expect. The room was clean and practical, however I wouldn't recommend it for light sleepers as you could be bothered by others going up and down the stairs. However, the noise from outside or other rooms was negligible. We only had breakfast at the hotel and the food quality was high, with lots of options. Even the pastries were first-class, not like the ones that you can usually find at a buffet. The dining area was well-kept like the rest of the hotel. We will most likely return to Rome and Universo and enjoy the hotel once again.

Front desk people need schooling on how to listen. A/C wouldn't work in winter. Noise on the street was insufferable! It interfered with the quality of sleep! Sad that breakfast quality declined since our last visit!

This was my second time at this hotel in Rome. Each time the room was immaculate and the bed comfortable. I appreciated the choice of pillows. The staff is welcoming and personable - I have never felt like I was “Next”. The breakfast is huge and tasteful.

4 nights stay. A short 5 minute walk from Termini Station. A welcoming arrival. Reception area nice and open. Staff friendly and helpful. Seamless check in. Lifts available to different part of each floor. Only meal I had was breakfast. A wide variety, hot and cold. Room was cleaned every day, bed made, towels changed, bathroom cleaned etc. I didn't ask for it to be done so it was much appreciated. Room perfect size. It had a wee balcony as well. No chairs though but nice just fresh air and watch the world go by. Would definitely recommend this hotel. I had a 3 day metro pass which was 18 euros but I walked a lot. Easy enough to get around. Great hotel and the friendliest staff ever. Location was perfect for everything we wanted to do on our short stay in Rome. There were three couples and all our rooms were very comfortable, clean and spacious rooms. I would highly recommend.

The staff were awesome! They were very kind to me and my husband super helpful with tours and any question we had about Rome or other parts of the country. Cristiano and Frederica went above and beyond to help us, they recommended restaurants, tour packages and show us how to used the public transport. The hotel is well situated 5 min walk to the main termini station ,20 mins to the trevi fountain and colleseum,the room was clean and a good size,with a minibar and safe always handy,the staff at reception were very good, helping us book tours and giving us helpful tips,there was a good choice of restaurants in the surrounding area,the breakfast was good value and the rooftop bar was lovely for a early evening drink before heading out,all in all a lovely experience,

I've stayed at this hotel a couple of times below when in Rome on business and have found it to be very nice. This stay was no different with the bed, being the most important part, being very comfy. Only issue was that I had a broken shower head fixing, which didn't get fixed. But I was only there for two nights, so wasn't that much of a deal.

Great stay, great customer service from all staff, very friendly and helpful. I would suggest you stay here if you'd like a close location to the city, but not in the middle of the main tourist attractions.

We would return here to stay and recommend to others in a heartbeat. The location is ideal a few blocks from Rome Termini and also easy walking to the main sights. Plentiful dining and convenience shops in the area. Clean and comfortable room and good amenities. The huge bath towels were appreciated. We arrived quite early from the US and were grateful to be able to check in early for a much needed rest. The breakfast is an excellent value for the items and service provided. The staff we dealt with were genuinely friendly and helpful.

the hotel was 5min walking distance to Rome termini; its breakfast was buffet style, had lots of selections; my room was quiet, despite it's next to the elevator; there were plenty of restaurants nearby, overall, I would recommend this hotel, might use it again, if I come back to Rome in the future.

We've just had 4 nights at this hotel and it's been an absolutely perfect choice for discovering Rome. The hotel is spotlessly clean, the staff are extremely helpful and friendly, the breakfast has a huge selection of fresh food and the rooftop terrace bar is the perfect spot to relax after a hard day's walking around thus beautiful city. The bedrooms are very modern and stylishly decorated and the backout curtains guarantee a solid nights sleep! There are lots of bars and restaurants within short walking distance of the hotel and the relaxed feel makes it is a welcome change from the hustle and bustle of the city centre. Finally, one of the highlights of the days were our morning exchanges with the restaurant manageress!!! She taught us Italian (sei­cento­dodici) so we could say our room number and we taught her some Welsh (diolch and bore da)!! A brilliant hotel and one we would definitely use again if in Rome. Clean hotel! Got the king comfort room and had a blast! Air conditioner worked great, breakfast was amazing plenty of food and hotel staff was very helpful! We got here and didn't even know it but we walked right by the collision our way to dinner and it was only at 10 minutes walk. Also if you're sober there is a meeting 5 mins away walking distance.

Hotel is in good location situated near the train station and within 30 mins walk to lots of the key tourist sites. Rooms were clean, showers were decent and it made a good base to stay from. Breakfast could have been better but otherwise the hotel facilities were good and staff friendly.

We found a bed bug and had bites found in the morning Went to reception to report it and asked to email as manager was not there About ten minutes later another family came down and handed a tissue with bed bugs from there room too So it appears they have an infestation and we were on the 7th floor so it will be all over Beware

A really comfortable, clean hotel with friendly staff and a really nice roof top bar. Although we didn't eat at the hotel, the breakfast seemed reasonably priced compared to other restaurants in Rome. All staff seemed very friendly and helpful in ordering taxi's and offering advice. A 20-30 walk to the main sights in Rome but around the hotel the streets are packed with nice restaurants and bars. A really enjoyable stay.

The location is good for walking to different sites. The rooms are clean and modern, and have been upgraded since our last stay in 2011. There is a bar on the roof with a lovely view of the surrounding area. This is a well priced hotel in an easy access location.

This is my go-to when I'm in Rome; easy walking distance from Termini Station, nice neighborhood with cafes and restaurants, excellent service, staff, and amenities! Spatious rooms, fitness center, excellent breakfast buffet, and the staff was very accommodating in helping me with transports. Stop looking and get booking!

For the price, the rooms are modern and large. Washroom is spacious too. They might have to work on the shower though as the water gets all over the place. Otherwise the place is clean, safe and modern. Location is near the Termini as well as many restaurants.

Excellent hotel in a great location. Just 5 minutes from Termini station and around 15 minutes walk to Trevi or the coloseum and theres plenty of restaurants close by. All the staff I encountered were really friendly too.

Family off 4. Had 2 rooms for our last night in Rome. Rooms were very good, bar fridge, clean, modern. Checkin very quick and easy. Only marking down a star for the roof top bar where we ended up ordering dinner, which was below average awful. Looked like reheated Lasagne from a few days ago, and everything else was basic. Breakfast was good, as was the service. Good hotel.

I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights during my work trip to Rome. The hotel is conveniently located very close to Termini station, with numerous delicious restaurants and a nearby supermarket. This made it a convenient choice for me. The breakfast provided was plentiful and delicious, and the staff were exceptionally kind and helpful, offering us valuable sightseeing advice. The room I stayed in was a junior suite, which had a unique loft-style floor plan. The living room was situated on the bottom floor, while the bedroom was on the top floor. The floor area of the room was spacious and comfortable, providing a pleasant stay. Overall, I was highly satisfied with my stay, rating it 98 out of 100. However, I did encounter a few minor issues: 1. The number of outlets in the room was limited. There were no outlets near the loft desk or the sofa area. It would have been more convenient to have outlets in these locations. Additionally, having USB connectors next to the bed would have been a nice addition. 2. After taking a shower, the floor inevitably got wet. I suggest improving the quality of the glass doors to prevent this issue. Despite these minor improvements, the hotel's price was reasonable compared to other options in the area, which made me quite satisfied with my overall experience.

We were so impressed! Clean, beautifully remodeled, delicious breakfast offerings and walking distance to many local sights. Would definitely go back when in Rome. The rooms were so comfortable and the sleep experience was great. Also, was very impressed with the vaulted ceilings in our rooms!

Had a very comfortable stay, our rooms were spacious as well as the bathrooms. Safe is not vey big. The resort was quite even though hotel is on a busy street. Be prepared to wait for elevator/lift. Near many eateries which are all within walking distance, felt very safe in the area.

Stayed at the Hotel Universo for 4 nights. This was our first time in Rome so I don't have anything to compare it to but, the staff was friendly and helpful and the room size for the city was not bad. They offered to get us tickets for local attractions or a cab to the airport. One of our suitcase wheels got broken by the airlines and the militance person helped us fix it (much needed on the cobblestone roads). The breakfast buffet in the morning was well worth the extra fee with everything you could imagine to eat. It was only 5 minutes from the Roma Termini and a few blocks from the Metro. I was worried we would hear the train but it was very quiet! We would definitely stay again!

We stayed at this hotel on our visit to Rome the first week in January. After flying into Rome it was nice to be able to take the express train to the Termini station and then be able take a very short 5 minute walk to the hotel. We found the property to be very clean. The staff was very business oriented but friendly at the same time. Our room was exactly what we had reserved with a large bed for my wife and I and a smaller bed for our adult daughter. One thing we weren't expecting was that the room had two bathrooms. This was a nice bonus. The smaller bathroom contained a toilet, small sink and a large glassed in shower. The large bathroom had a bath tub, toilet, bidet and two sinks. The mattresses on both beds were very comfortable and we slept quite well. The room did get very warm a couple of times but we were able to open the windows to help manage the temperature. The buffet breakfast offered each morning had a lot of variety and was very good. The breakfast room was well maintained by the staff and nothing was ever out of place. Food was placed on the buffet in small enough portions that it was always fresh. I would definitely recommend the pancakes and the waffles! I would certainly stay at this hotel again if I ever return to Rome!

I stayed at this hotel for two single nights in January 2023 at the beginning and end of a recent Italian holiday. I chose it for its location close to Rome Termini railway station. The location proved to be perfect, about 10 minutes walk (with a suitcase) from the station but in a relatively quiet street. The rooms were compact but up-to-date, clean and well-appointed. Bathrooms were excellent, beds comfortable. The staff were helpful and spoke excellent English. The big plus here is the restaurant, which provides breakfast, lunch and dinner. The dinner menu selection wasn't huge but it still had a god variety of dishes and the meals I had were great. Breakfast buffet was very good. I'd definitely stay here again.

The location is amazing and very close to public transportation and even in walking distance of most of the tourist attractions. The room was very clean and well arranged. There was soap and shampoo and body wash provided by the hotel.

Lovely hotel that is incredibly central! We walked everywhere, and it only took us 5 mins to Termini training station when we want to hop on a train and head further out. Highly recommend including breakfast, food is good and gets you up and moving first thing in the morning. We were the first tourists in a long time to ask about the thermal suite, its essentially a sauna and steam room for 2, I'd recommend checking it out.

We stayed here from December 31 until January 14, 2023. I cannot say enough about this hotel. Its location is ideal, a 5 minute flat walk from Termini train station as well as the two metro lines in Rome that go to nearly all the main attractions. The hotel itself is clean and comfortable. Housekeeping came every day if you want them to. The beds were so comfortable with plenty of pillows and options to order special pillows if you need something specific. Breakfast was our favorite part though. Huge selection of pastries, meats, cheeses, even hot options. And they never stopped asking if you want a special coffee that came complete with wonderful little extra pastries. We also loved the rooftop bar. Beautiful view of Rome, you order by phone and they bring up your drinks quickly and usually with chips on the side. I tried to think of any cons here and I couldn't come up with one. I love this place. Will definitely stay here again if I'm lucky enough to return to Rome.

The best western universo was an extremely great hotel for our stay , close to the centre of Rome and extremely clean , rooms were clean every day and the staff were extremely helpful, the only letdown was a very limited menu in the restaurant, but there are some great restaurants close so overall a great experience and I would definitely stay again , it has restored my faith in best western establishments which in the past has been a let down . This is definitely not one of those . 5stars

The hotel was lovely and very convenient in many ways. There are lots of restaurants nearby for dining out and some shops for little snacks, water etc. It is about 5mintues walk to the Termini and transportation is easy to get. We used the City Sightseeing Tour Bus as our main transport as it took us to the places we wanted to see, and the bus stop for it is only a few minutes walk from the hotel. The staff were brilliant, very friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and spacious. We would stay there again in the future. I highly recommend this hotel :-)

The check-in staff, especially Cristiano and Marcelo were very accommodating, as was the bartender. Some rooms do not have a view, but the location near the train station and walkability to Trestevere, Pizza Navona, Trevi Fountain, etc. is good.

We stayed with our 10month old baby and the crew were extremely helpful with our needs. The restaurant/bar staff helped with heating up our baby food and freezing the homecooked food on arrival. The hotel staff provided a baby tub too.

I had a pleasant one night stay. I was able to check in early. The room was small, but nice. The property is convenient to the train station. I have to type 200 characters, but all I have to say is it was a nice stay, affordable, and I'm satisfied.

This location was great. We did a lot of train travel while there and the station was only a few blocks away. Staff and room were great. Fantastic breakfast and dinner as well. Would definitely come again!

This is a great hotel located in a fantastic area, close to restaurants and bars and within walking distance to the many attractions and places of historical interest. The hotel staff were all very friendly and attentive. The breakfast was also top class

The room was average, location okay and view from the room horrendous- our balcony looked onto air conditioning units and was very loud. We were also right next to the lift which was also very noisy. During the stay a pair of expensive trainers went missing from the room. The staff have been useless- when trying to contact the hotel regarding this the reception staff member put the phone down on me, when I called back he then said to call the next day- there was a clear language barrier. The next day I called and they still denied this. Since this I have wrote to the hotel but they have totally disregarded that fact that my trainers have been stolen and only apologised for the poor communication.

Can I say extremely rude and awful service. First off, my family and I arrived to Rome a couple hours early. When I asked Federica if I we could check in a couple hours early being that our flight arrived at an earlier time, she first said they didn't have any rooms available, however after we noticed several customers checked in early as well, we questioned her, and then was told they would have a room available in 30 min. After finally arriving to our room, we were pretty much placed in front of tall buildings. However, we didn't say anything, we were just happy to have a room. Not to mention, there were no adapters to charge phones, blow dry your hair, or any other thing you need an adapter for. As a matter of fact, when we asked hotel staff if one was available, Christiano told us to go across the street and buy a universal adapter because the hotel had none available. Also when we asked for a manager, we were told there wasn't one available for several hours. Also after being out all day, we were finally able to relax only to find out you couldn't control the temperature of the room. The receptionist told us the A/C was broke. Then after taking a shower, water seeps underneath the shower causing a complete disaster. We literally had to use every towel to try to clean up the flooded bathroom. Last but not least, there weren't any Ice buckets, therefore we literally had to walk to the bar and they gave us a bowl of ice. Our supposedly wonderful experience turned out to be a nightmare. The staff at this establishment is extremely snobbish & rude. Especially Federica & Christiano. Their complete attitude towards our family was appalling to say the least. If you want to stay in an establishment with a more accommodating staff, stay away from here.

Enjoyed that this hotel was centrally located, walking distance to good restaurants, shopping and the various sites we wanted to visit. The breakfast was with full of many delicious choices. Also, enjoyed the rooftop bar area with beautiful views of the city.

The location of the hotel is excellent - very close to the metro and with its help you can get anywhere simply and quickly. The hotel staff is very kind and the breakfast is rich and indulgent. Definitely highly recommended

Good value hotel, the hotel is old but the rooms are obviously newly renovated, it's very close to Roma termini which is very convenient for us for taking public transportation like buses and trains, very clean hotel and staff are nice, very close to so many good restaurants and attractions,

I've stayed 2x at the BW Universo. Love the location and friendly staff. The hotel is renovated and has great amenities. The rooms are spacious and is great for families as well. Close to Termini Sta, and other attractions in Rome.

I really did not want to write this review, but the Customer Service department of Best Western is forcing me to do so. While our experience at BW Universe was good overall, the way they have dealt with my issue is incredibly poor. I left a very nice coat hanging in the closet of our room when checking out, and did not notice until we were a couple of hours into our drive up to Venice. I called the hotel to enquire as to someone (room cleaning?) possibly finding the coat, especially since we encountered the room cleaner and exchanged pleasantries as we left to go to check out. I was told by the front desk that nothing had been turned in as yet, but to call agin the next morning. I did so and was dismissed by the person answering and told to send an email. I did, and while taking full responsibility for leaving my coat, I enquired as to the hotel room cleaning procedures and specifically if checking the closet was part of standard operating procedure, which in these days more than ever I would think happens for every room turnover. I've both spoken to the hotel directly, and have received email replies also where they simply cannot understand the question of "Is checking the room closet a part of cleaning the room?" I've now received numerous emails from BW customer service agents, the last of which this morning was from someone in the "Language" section of customer service (???), and all are basically the same blah blah of thanking me for pointing out a potential problem in service. Neither the hotel nor their BW customer service has offered anything other than denying that it couldn't possibly be an issue within their hotel. In my opinion, either the room cleaner did not check the room closet (???), or they found a nice coat and kept it. In the end I take responsibility for leaving my coat, but shouldn't BW acknowledge the problem here and take some responsibility?

The hotel is perfectly located, close to Termini Station and many tourist spots. The front desk staff were very pleasant and helpful. The room was tiny, with barely any room to walk around the bed, which is my only complaint.

Overall stay was outstanding except one thing. Best Western charged my Visa credit card twice. One for $474.68 on Oct 26, 2022 and the other one was $470.40 on Oct. 29, 2022, I am not sure which is correct amount. They should know better. I am hoping that someone will refund one of the charges.

Good location, few minutes to Metro and some sites worth visiting nearby. Lots of restaurants around. Staff are helpful. Counter can make change for you. Only drawback is it is expensive to travel by taxi to airport but there are trains and shuttles that run from the terminal a few minutes away.

Room was clean and comfortable. Lots of power outlets. Great water pressure. Comfortable beds. Front desk was very helpful. Located close to Roma Termini and metro stops. Hotel arranged early morning shuttle to airport. Lots of amenities that we didn't have time to use.

A nice and perfectly adequate hotel situated 10 minutes walk from Rome Termini Railway Station and within 30 minutes from the Forum and Colosseum with many restaurants and bars around it. it was very convenient and just nice for a stopover or even a longer trip. Being near the termini also means that you can use it as a base for train trips within the region

It is very nearby Rome Termini Station, it takes around 10min by walk. Also, its facility is quite new and nice enough. I recommend that every family or couple will be good for tourism!!! There are many Korean restaurants and supermarket.

We stayed here with a group and then extended for an additional day. It was very good. Nice clean room, good breakfast and good location. Simple walk to the Roma Termini Good mix of business and tourist travel with families and children Roof top bar great place to wind down at end of day. Bartender doing a great job!

This hotel was located perfectly and the rooms were remodeled and modern. Price was reasonable. It was clean. Staff helpful. Even had a pillow menu. Not your typical Best Western. We loved it!! We highly recommend this hotel. Close to hop on hop off stop. Restaurants everywhere. Some tourist sites walkable.

My wife and I absolutely enjoyed our stay and found there were many attractions and restaurants within a short walk. Every interaction with the staff was a pleasure as they were always friendly and accommodating. Our room appeared to have been recently updated and had a nice balcony to enjoy a morning Cappuccino..

If you are looking for a hotel near the train station, this is the place to stay at, easy 7 minute walk with luggage in tow, plus you are close to the train and bus station. When we do go back to Rome we will stay here again. Recommend getting room with balcony to relax and enjoy a bottle of wine.

Clean hotel in a great location close to Termini station and the main sights walkable. Stayed in an junior suite with an awkward layout. Bed is up a staircase in a loft which means up and down stairs to use a washroom. There's a sitting area on the main floor but no television as the only tv is upstairs where the bed is. Only washroom is on main level. We had a balcony but no chairs on it to enjoy sitting out. Room was clean and well appointed. Breakfast was nothing special for the price. Lots of nearby places for a better value breakfast. Great area with many sidewalk patios and shops.

The accommodations were great and satisfying! Courteous front desk personnel were very welcoming and did a convenient arrangement of airport to hotel travels! Breakfast had excellent variety of meals and servers are quick to assist. The room is spacious, kept clean and tidy. The location was very accessible to visit sites in Rome and conveniently travel to other places since train station is nearby.

We stayed here for one night because we didn't want to travel at night to Florence. Chose the hotel for 2 reasons: American brand we know and proximity to train station. The location is only convenient if you absolutely need to be near the train station. The area is very suspect, dirty, lots of questionable people lurking around, and extremely busy (watch out for scammers). otherwise stay closer to Centro Storico (old town) as you will be closer to all attractions. The hotel is run down and in desperate need of a total refurb. You don't want to be walking around this area past 10PM as I feel like you could be mugged. We booked a regular room, but were given an “upgrade” which was a two story room with a most inconvenient set of stairs with one A/C per floor… We could never get the A/C to work right… it was either too cold or too warm in the room. The carpet was stained, the bathroom was not very clean with hairs from the previous occupant or two all over the stairs and floor. Breakfast was awful as none of the food looked fresh. The only good part was the cappuccino we ordered. The bread tasted stale and had (chewy), the sausage was of the poorest quality, and the scrambled eggs looked raw. The fruit was flavorless and was a bit hard. The staff was friendly and helpful, so nothing wrong with the staff. We will never stay here again.

The hotel is located quite convenient, 400 m from Termini station. Many restaurants in the area , not great but not that bad. The front office , F&B and housekeeping staff is great. Rooms are small, furniture a bit outdated. Should change the chairs in the rooms, very worn out.

Stayed here on the Rome leg of our Italian holiday. The staff are lovely, hotel is spotless. We had a great room, super comfy bed, fab shower. Breakfast is amazing, the variety is fantastic. Definitely recommend!

Spent 3 days and loved every moment, close to the station and restaurants aplenty nearby , within walking distance to the main attractions but also tours can be provided and taxis on request but after having the buffet breakfast which is great btw it's better to walk lol, staff were great and rooms were very modern and well maintained , would not hesitate to stay there again . Note airport is around 45 minutes away

Check in was very difficult but yet they did accommodate an hour before 2 PM. Very clean but very very busy. Hotel offers restaurant which is reasonable if you do breakfast good selection, basic European but good selection. Fresh food. Clean

I writing this review without actually staying here. We had originally booked to stay here in 2020 through Nustay.com Covid happened and everything got cancelled. Nustay rebooked us for 2021 and further lockdowns came Nustay went bankrupt, so I got in touch with hotel, explaining the the third party had gone bankrupt. Martin from the hotel changed the dates for us , again we weren't able to visit Rome so we asked Martin to add new names to our reservations and changes the stay dates for June/ July stay 2022. Well our other guest made it Rome and checked in without any Problems thanks to Martin. This is short version of it. I want to Thank Martin for all the help and say this is how customer service should When we do go to Rome, this will be my choice of stay Thank you Martin.

The hotel was central and easy to find and get around to see the sites. The staff were all friendly and helpful day and night. The room was a bit small but that's not unexpected in Europe, but it was well appointed with all the things a traveller would need. It was clean and housekeeping kept it that way too. We totally enjoyed our stay there.

The hotel was very comfortable and clean, and the room was soundproof. We asked for a quiet room and we were not disappointed! Both breakfast and dinner was lovely with a lot of choice. As for gluten-free options we were always given a basket with an arangement of bread, toasts, and sweets. For dinner, all gluten-free opstions were clearly marked. The staff were probably the most professional and friendly we ever encountered! Specially the dinner staff!

A pretty and unusual bi-level room. In earlier review I commented the lower level (bath, closet, desk and high back chairs) could really have used at least one comfy club chair in that space. Also, be warned if you utilize.laundry service, you will pay dry cleaning prices for machine washables. It seems a complicated process--I spent 2 days and 117 euros to get underwear and polyester items clean.

I had a perfect stay here. Everything was just as I hoped/expected. All staff were friendly. I was able to walk all around Rome using this as my base but there are also good links to trains and tour buses etc. I will definitely book again for my next stay in Rome. Breakfast was food and roof top bar staff all friendly and helpful. I had booked this hotel via Jet2 and hotel transfer was available.

Good location & great service! It's just a few minutes walk from the train station. About 45min-1hr from some of the major historical sites (Coliseum/Trevi Fountain/etc). Short cab ride to everything else. Modern rooms. Very clean. Restaurant is priced in line with local external venues. Overall, would gladly stay here again. Even good option as a pre-cruise spot as shuttles are easy to arrange to get you to Civitavecchia.

This hotel is good value for money and in a great location. Roma termini is so close for getting too and from the airport. (Short walk). The hotel is also 20 minutes walk from the main attractions so we found this the best way to get around! I would definitely recommend staying in this hotel, room was made up everyday and staff stored our bags as we arrived way before check in time!

From the minute we arrived we were warmly welcomed. Gorgeous room - huge- very quiet and peaceful. All staff members were hugely helpful. Breakfast was great. Fantastic location with good transportation links and nice eateries on the doorstep. Travelling solo with two children - couldn't have been a pleasanter or easier stay. Will return! Thank you.

This hotel is a quick 5 min walk from Roma Termini. There's lots of food and transportation nearby. The coleseo is about 20 min walking as is Trevi fountain. Great location. They upgraded my room randomly, so that was a nice surprise upon arrival. Rooms do have ac but it shuts off when you leave the room and you have to turn it on each time. I would stay again if in the area and it's still reasonably priced

Can't recommend the Hotel Universo enough! Superb location - just a few, easy minutes walk from Termini station makes getting to and from the airport a breeze. And a very pleasant 20 min walk to the Trevi fountain one way or the Colosseum / Forum the other. The metro stop to go to the Vatican is a 5 minute walk. Lots of really lovely restaurants all around the hotel. The hotel itself is very pleasant, modern and clean. We had 3 rooms - a comfort double and triple which were a good size and much bigger than expected. The triple had a huge bathroom with bath and separate shower. The 3rd room, a Deluxe, was amazing - duplex complete with a fresco on the ceiling! Rooms cleaned perfectly every day. The service throughout the hotel was superb - reception staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast service staff could not have been more helpful especially the lady at the door! Breakfast was amazing - everything you could want and more. Staff were more than happy to bring non-dairy milk and espressos as requested. If you arrive before 2pm they will store your luggage in a room off reception. Special mention to the amazing roof top bar. Cocktails were great, lovely staff and amazing view (see photo)!

We enjoyed our stay at the Best Western Plus Hotel Universo in Rome! It was about a 15 minute walk from most big tourist attractions we wanted to see and in the heart of a lot of cool, fun areas. The area seemed very nice and safe, the hotel staff was great and helped us book our car service easily, and the room was nice as well.

Good sized balcony would benefit from seating - nice sized room - good breakfast English and continental self service - bar was never open during day or evening and the restaurant was very very quiet in the evenings - we ate at local restaurants every evening

My first time out of the states and wanted a familiar brand. Best Western Plus didn't disappoint. Hotel very clean. Modern hotel. Equivalent to the Best Westerns in USA about a 3-Star. Breakfast had over 20 or so options with a mixture of several meats, nuts, fruits, breads, pastries. And combination of breakfast items and lunch items like pizza, breadsticks, etc. breakfast also came with cappuccino

Great hotel, super friendly staff, very clean rooms and common areas. Breakfast was fantastic! Probably the best we have had throughout Europe and North America. Lovely little rooftop lounge is the perfect way to end a long day of sightseeing and overlook the city.

Very good location near attractions and very clean rooms yet mine was a bit small. In general, very clean hotel. Breakfast was excellent with good variety and amazing service. Highly recommended for either business or short visit in Rome.

This is a lovely hotel that is spotlessly clean, has friendly and helpful staff and an excellent breakfast! It is situated close to the Colosseum and on a tour bus route. Lovely cafes and restaurants nearby and an excellent ice cream shop!

Best Western was a nice location it had everything around it, restaurants, transportation to sights very convenient. Hotel was cozy and clean, roof top restaurant dry nice and the 2 gentlemen that served us was very helpful and catered to our needs. Room was clean and cozy and front desk people was very friendly and helpful. Best Western Plus has exceeded my expectations of the hotel better than expected.

Have always loved Best Western Plus - this hotel was struggling to be even a three star hotel. It's shown as a four. Impolite. Short. And even when you smile and show that you understand - nothing. I speak Italian and I even had to hear them say something obnoxious as I walked away. Do not eat dinner here. Terrible. They said they were under staffed and could not open restaurant downstairs so you have the 8th floor. Water poured out of shower even though closed the door well. Drain was slow. 4 towels each day on floor. AC was great. Talked to hotel n two occasions before arriving to pay for an early check in. Understand not possible. But the staff were stressed at check-in and check out time. And when I stay somewhere I do like to feel welcome and comfortable. Sadly didn't happen

We stayed here a couple nights pre-cruise. The hotel is not fancy, but the room is clean and properly equipped. It's a short walk to the metro and the train station. There are many restaurants around the area. The hotel breakfast was better than I expected. I will definitely stay again.

Close to Termini , the center transportation hub in the city with a shopping center. There are many excellent restaurants just within walking distance of the hotel. Breakfast was good and of best value. Room was clean and quiet. Air conditioning was great.

The hotel is in a great location - near the train station, surrounded by many restaurants. However, the hotel is dated and needs to be renovated. They should also update their toiletry collection. The hand soap, shampoo, and lotion scents were very unpleasant. But what will keep me from returning to this hotel is the sewer/stale water smell that seeps into the room. It wasn't constant for me, but when it manifested, it was quite unpleasant. Perhaps if one isn't assigned an inner facing room, the ventilation might be better?? I also didn't really enjoy their breakfast selection. I like a hot, hearty breakfast; unfortunately their options were not appetizing to me. The pancakes were cold. The scrambled eggs were runny. The hot water for tea was luke warm. Chocolate croissants would have been nice. However, The AC and WiFi worked well and the bed was comfortable. The shower worked well and the staff were very nice. If you have a short stint in Rome and just need a quick, clean place to sleep and can get a room with good ventilation, this hotel could be a decent option. But you should know this is definitely NOT a 4-star hotel.

Just returned home from a lovely stay. Hotel is basic but comfortable but the staff are wonderful The electric went off in our room one evening and within ten minutes someone came and fixed it The shower door was faulty and I went to reception and reported it. Within minutes we were moved to another room. Everyone from reception, bar and domestic staff were really friendly

Book last minute stay for 4 nights June 2022 when our original booking could not accommodate us for another night per our travel agent - this is not a 4 star hotel! Leak in ceiling above shower that was growing mold (see picture). Made front desk aware and they seemed unimpressed. Called for an iron 3 times in two hours and was ignored before my husband went down stairs to retrieve. Rooms are close together and noisy. Breakfast was average. In ill repair and the only thing this hotel has going for it is central location by termini but you can do so much better for the money. Stay elsewhere!!

It is in a very good location, with easy access to tourist attractions. The rooms are clean and the bed is very comfortable.Generous breakfast, delicious dinners, friendly staff. We were happy with our choice.

We were on a group tour and stated this hotel for 3 nights. It's the best hotel I've stayed at in all of Italy. Comfortable beds, wonderful shower, clean and great staff. Fantastic selection of food for breakfast.

This was an OK place to stay with a few drawbacks. It was quiet and well-located with proximity to Roma Termini. The staff were very helpful. Breakfast buffet was quite good. The area felt safe. However, our friends staying in another room had the toilet flush mechanism fall off the wall when they entered, and the glass shower door fell on me while I was showering. I wasn't injured, but seriously, they could use some better maintenance. It was really hot when we visited and at least the AC kept up and was an excellent relief. There is nothing glam about this hotel, but it served the purpose of a central spot to tour Rome.

Stayed for 3 nights superior room on the 7th floor, rooms comfortable, clean and modern, nice balcony, breakfast good and carried. The bathroom was ok but a little on the small side, the shower cubicle was small and leaked. Overall a pleasant stay, nice location close to all major attractions via the bus terminal where you could find plenty of taxis, you would struggle to walk to the major attractions as some have stated from this hotel.

Great location only a few minutes walk from Roma Termini and metro stations. Good sized room with minibar (to mean this means a tiny fridge) and a kettle. Good bed and pillows, clean both bathroom and room. Everything I needed.

The hotel was very clean and the rooms very big compared to most European hotels. Beds were comfortable and AC was great. There was a 20min wait for check in because of a large group. Breakfast was good-scrambled eggs, toast, pastries, yogurt, fresh fruit, meats, juices, cereal. I had to ask for cream for coffee. Restaurants within walking distance and if you need a taxi the front desk will call you one. I reported a leak in my shower ceiling that was not addressed and didn't get much help from the front desk in finding non-feather pillows (son has allergies) otherwise it was great.

While it is not a boutique hotel it provides a great location, a few blocks from the main train station. A perfect spot to stay before a cruise if you want to be in Rome vs an airport location. They offer free breakfast and wifi and the staff is super friendly and knowledgeable.

My wife and I spent a weekend break at this hotel. Fantastic location; beautiful room; sumptuous buffet breakfast; very courteous and professional staff. Strategic location close to Stazione Termini and a few minutes away from Via Nazzionale. We always choose this hotel when in Rome and we are never disappointed. Highly recommended.

In April and May 2022, my wife and I stayed at the Best Western Universo for 5 nights, during 2 separate stays. On our first stay, after a 9-hour red eye flight from Washington, DC, the gentleman at the front desk (I wish I had noted his name!) found a room for us 2 hours earlier than the stated check-in time. Much-appreciated! That was an early indication of how our 5 nights at the Hotel went -- helpful staff, quiet and comfortable rooms (one with a great balcony and view of Rome!), outstanding, convenient location. Over 5 stays there in the course of 4 years, we have learned that the Hotel Universo is within a 10-minute walk of not only Termini Train Station, but also several good restaurants for both lunch and dinner; the National Museum of Rome (in the old Baths of Diocletian); wine stores; pharmacies; convenience stores -- absolutely everything we have needed for a comfortable, convenient stay in the Eternal City. Highly recommended to all!

We were originally booked to stay at Best Western Universo for 4 nights in June 2020 but due to the pandemic we were not able to stay until 2022. During the 2 year delay the Universo staff were easy to contact and provided an exceptional service to ensure we would eventually be able to stay at Universo. During our stay all of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel and rooms were very clean and spacious. The breakfast had plenty of choices and was very good. We all had a very enjoyable stay and would definitely return to Universo

It's the best hotel near Termini station ROOMS: not so big, but comfortable. Excellent soundproof - you hear nothing from the street. Comfortable bed, good size bathroom. LOCATION: 5min walking from Termini railway station, 15min walking distance to Colosseum and other famous places in the city. There are a lot of different restaurants and groceries nearby. FOOD: good breakfast (6:30-10:30) includes buffet with different types of food like meat, cheese, fruits and veggies, toasts, flakes, pastry and etc. There is also option for lunch and dinner for extra payment. FACILITIES: fast wi-fi, gym and bar. Congress hall. STAFF: very polite and friendly.

Stayed at this hotel for two nights. It is in good location. The room was basic but clean and tidy. Nice touch having the kettle and coffee/tea sachets. Didn't have food or drink from here so cannot comment on the food. Pleasant experience overall. Would stay again if in Rome.

We stayed there for five nights and were quite happy with our stay. The room was very nice with a big bathroom and a very big bed. Before arrival I asked for a room with a shower but got a room with a bathtub but I understand that it is not always possible to everything the guest asks for. Also it was not possible to close the door to the bathroom without it rubbing against the wall with a lot of noise. The service from the staff was very good. Breakfast was excellent with a good selection and excellent service. The bar staff was also very good but they should go over their stock management. One night they did not have a cold beer and three nights in a row they did not have the mint for the Mojito :-). But these issues are minimal for us and we would choose the hotel again when we return to beautiful Rome.

This hotel is fabulous! A location which could not be better for easy walking distance to all places of interest, with great accommodation, friendly & helpful staff & comfortable facilities. Breakfast in the neighbouring bar is first class & having visited this hotel on numerous occasions, I could not fault a thing! We'll certainly book again!

Our tour group chose this hotel for us and it was just fine. As Americans, we were a little surprised at the small space and the odd half-door shower door on the tub, but overall it was good. The bed was the most comfortable one we had in Italy - others were way too firm for me! This was also the only hotel that offered drawers to put our things - it was only two small drawers, but we appreciated it! I think Americans also overpack, so it was a challenge to find places for all our "stuff." Regardless, it was a comfortable room, nice bathroom, had a closet, safe, and mini fridge. Breakfast buffet was plentiful and varied. I refuse to eat runny eggs, which I found at every breakfast buffet in Italy, but there was still plenty to eat and great cappuccino! Location was fine - I feel like Rome is so large, you have to walk a fair distance to get anywhere. We did enjoy just wandering the streets near the hotel. Hotel was clean, staff was very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this hotel to travelers.

Our travel company swapped us to this hotel a week before we departed. Looking on-line wouldn't have been what I'd choose but once we arrived, the staff were very good, the hotel was clean and the location is perfect for a city visit. We had been booked into a duplex room with balcony, a bit of a mix up on arrival when we were given a standard room! Did eventually get moved but the standard room looked more modern while the duplex is teeny and walking up and down the stairs from the bed to the bathroom after trekking about Rome all day is something I could've done without. The balcony onto the busy side street we loved though. Breakfast was good with a varied choice and serving staff excellent. Hotel location is close walking distance to the major attractions, turn right and its about 15 mins max to the colosseum and turn left and its the same walking distance to reach the Victor Emmanuel II Monument. If you know Rome, you'll know then that all other attractions are within easy walking distance from these 2 main points. Termini station is about 10 mins walk away too. There are numerous good bars and restaurants near by and a very good main shopping street too. Due to the location alone I would be happy to stay here again.

An excellent stay, great location and very central. The train station and metro less than a 5 minute walk away. The rooms were clean and had everything you need. Breakfast was amazing and staff were so attentive. I would definitively recommend staying here and would return.

Excellent value, good location friendly, helpful staff. Rooms clean, quite, we had balcony rooms. Breakfast was excellent, lower cost than we expected, was great for a family group of 6 persons. Will return to Universo as soon as we can.

A ten minute walk from Roma Termini train station and we reached the hotel. A busy hotel in a vibrant location. Easily accessible to restaurants, bus-stop, metro and train-station to facilitate shuttling around in vast Rome. We stayed in the comfort triple and deluxe room. Comfortable beds. Room was equipped well. Had some concern with the kettle which was fixed immediately by the service personnel. Breakfast spread was rich and vast. A fitness centre at the basement helps break-down the breakfast calories well :) I found the snippet about the origin of Roscioli hotels interesting. Staff was warm and approachable. We stayed around Easter and they had decorations, easter eggs and an additional spread with some traditional Easter dishes which was nice (photo attached).

We have stayed for 3 nights in this hotel, room no. 239 .… I have no words …. The photos attached to my review will speak for themselves. While the breakfast was plentiful, staff very courteous and welcoming, the room was a disgrace. Foul sewage smell kept coming from the bathroom (wc and sink especially) continuously … the AC was very noisy (the fan was probably broken), walls were dirty as well some parts of the shower. When we arrived we have found some stains on the bedsheets (probably rust). Room was not soundproofed so you could hear everything. Moreover between the walls were passing some sewage pipes and I could hear the water flowing from the upper floors - accompanied by the sewage smell - basically I could tell you what time the neighbors took a shower or they've flushed their toiled. The view …. there was no view. We had a broken window that was opening completely (contrary to the safety measures that the hotels should follow) towards a backyard full of AC equipment. I could see that other rooms with balcony (sold for a higher price) were having the same “lovely” view as we had . Since the hotel was overbooked we couldn't change the room. The cherry on the top was the room service tray charge of 15 €. I know that they try to deter guests from ordering room service and to persuade them to visit the hotel restaurant, but still …. At least the food ordered was nice and the staff very polite and punctual. This hotel doesn't deserve the 4 stars that he has.

Kind staff, comfort bed, excellent location, very satisfying breakfast. There are So many options for restaurant and coffee Shop near hotel. You can find market close to hotel. You can reach Main metro/train/bus station Termini so quick bu walk

This is a busy tourist hotel. That means that tour groups are coming and going all the time. That makes it busy, if that is okay with you. Otherwise, you might want to choose something like a Hilton, which will of course cost you more. Since both Best Westerns that we stayed at in Italy had lots of tour groups coming and going, we might want to pay more and go to a Hilton, etc. instead next time. But what you get for your money is okay. We had reserved a Superior Room which is on the top floor and has a balcony. That is nice in that you get to see the city and that you don't have people possibly making noise on top of you. But you do have the balconies, and you can possibly have noisy people on the balcony next to you. The people on our floor were okay in that way, but it is something to think about. The issue we had was that the "air conditioning" such as it was, did not work. No fan, no air conditioning. We opened up the door to help with that, which helped. But when there was noise outside, it wasn't good. Regardless, the air conditioning should work. Because of that, we had them move us. We ended up on the second floor which was a Deluxe Room that had two levels. What was good about this is that the air conditioning worked very well. And it was quiet. So that was good. Breakfast is included. It is good, but you need to get there early. As the morning goes on, eggs and other items aren't resupplied and they start to get more and more runny. They do supply espresso drinks on request and that was great! We had dinner two nights in their restaurant and it was adequate. The hotel is in a tourist area a few blocks from Roma Termini, which is the main train terminal in Rome. So it was in a more basic part of town so you should consider that. We did not feel as safe going out at night and avoided doing that.

The location is great : near to almost everything at walking distance The rooms are very recent and well accomodated, however that a are a bit small. The bad point is the noise : A room door open ring or closing you will hear it We had also very noisy neighboord (room 228 on April 9th) that were shouting from 11pm to 1 am … and without any respect for other peoples !

I picked this for location. Two blocks from Termini. All bus, rail and Metro are right there. There are stores and shops like TIM and Vodaphone and food and many other services. The Termini has taxis all day and night.

The location is very close to the central station which makes getting around easy. The beds were very comfortable, and breakfast featured a good selection. The bathroom ventilation left something to be desired as we could smell something coming from other units.

We found it a bit difficult locating the hotel but once we found it, it was incredibly easy travelling from it to Termini Hotel. We managed to walk to all sightseeing sites by foot from our hotel. Breakfast was divine and kept us full past lunch, great selection. only con for this hotel is that it has one lift and our room was on the 8th floor! so a lot of the time we had to wait for the lift. In saying this, although our room was on the 8th floor beside the lift we could not hear any noise which was great

Another lovely stay in this great hotel!! Fantastic rooms in a fantastic location. The staff and amenities at the Universo are second to none. You are walking distance to all the main sights and sounds of Rome. Can't wait to go back !!

this hotel is right near the train station, a good neighborhood, since mostly everything is within walking distance in Rome it was convenient. the staff was super friendly , helpful, efficient and accomodating. the room was super clean, modern: very comfortable beds, pillows, and linen. the shower was so roomy and comfortable with nice amenities. i would stay here again and highly recommend this hotel

I stayed at the Best Western Plus Hotel Universo a couple of weeks ago during my trip to Rome. It was my first time visiting Rome, so I did lots of research on places to stay. I'm extremely happy with the choice I made to stay here. The reason why I chose to stay here was the following: - Since it was my first trip to Rome solo, I opted to stick with a chain. I normally wouldn't do this, but I was alone and I didn't want to contend with things you may contend with in more quaint places like no elevators (I DO NOT pack lightly), hot water issues, etc. - I wanted a king bed and many of the places I looked at had a queen bed as their biggest bed. - I planned to walk to as many places as possible and the hotel was within a 30 min walk to most places - Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Colosseum, Pantheon, etc. My shuttle ride (not associated with the hotel at all) was horrible. It had dropped me off blocks away from the hotel and I arrived at the hotel a sweaty mess because I was dragging 2 luggages in my huge Winter coat and I kept getting lost because I did not realize the street names were etched into the buildings and not the street signs I was used to in Canada. When I finally arrived at the hotel, I was greeter very warmly by Front Desk. They advised me that they had upgraded me to a balcony room since it was my birthday, but it wouldn't be ready for a couple of hours. It was around noon by this time. No problem. They took my luggage while I waited. I asked where the washroom was (to wipe down all the sweat because I'm chubby) and the restaurant. The lobby washroom was located down the stairs. The hotel had excellent signage, so it was not difficult to find at all. The washroom was kept super clean. Because of my nausea issues, I try to avoid public washroom because the smell makes me insanely sick, but this was not the issue here. You know if a business takes care of their washrooms, you're in good hands. I took a seat in the lounge area of the lobby for a bit while I collected myself. There is adequate seating here and by Front Desk if you're ever in a position to have to sit and wait for anything. Once I collected myself, I made my way to the hotel restaurant. My server was named Simone (I'm sorry if I spelled his name wrong). He was super nice. I just ordered a small snack while waiting for my room. What I thought was a small snack was huge. It was a plate of prosciutto with buffalo mozzarella. A basket of bread was also brought out for me. This may be the norm in Rome, but the cheese was so good. Here in Canada, when you get the cheese here, it's still yummy, but very firm. This cheese was so soft and fresh. Delightful. After my meal, I proceeded to Front Desk to check-in. Check-in was a breeze. I was assigned Rm 724. The room was super clean which is a traveller's dream. Beddings were super soft. Mattress and pillows were super comfy. When I say comfy, I mean so comfy that I took naps and missed dinner time 3 nights in a row and had to order Uber Eats because it was so comfy. When you travel far, out of everything, this is what you need and want. Best Western Plus Hotel Universo did not disappoint there. Bathroom was spotless as well. It came with products to use, but I packed my own, so I can't comment on the quality. Let's talk about the towels. Finally! A hotel that provided large towels. Chubby people need larger towels and Best Western Plus Hotel Universo is a real one for providing them. I frequent hotels (Fairmonts, IHG, Marriott, Hilton, etc.) often and I've stayed in many resorts, and they usually just offer the towels that barely wrap around your hair. This made me happy. The sink was large, so it was great for washing my face at night and not splashing water everywhere. During my stay, I didn't have any issues with water or plumbing whatsoever. The closet was a decent size for the size of the room. I do wish that it had more hangers, but most people probably don't pack as much as I did, so that issue is so minuscule. There was a safe located in the closet which was super easy to use. Great for storing your valuables, but not a super huge safe to store your actual handbag or anything that size. The mini fridge was stocked with large bottles of flat and still water, pop and I think beer (I don't drink alcohol, so I didn't pay attention). Of course, there's a small fee for them. Nothing outrageous. There was also a kettle. I brought my own tea, so this was helpful. By the bed, the wall was fitted with outlets for regular plugs and USB to charge your phone. I brought a couple universal adapters, but this was very handy. It rained for a large part of my stay, but I did manage to enjoy some sunshine from the balcony when I could. And of course, I needed to take some selfies up there. Lol. The balcony had a table, a couple of chairs and a lounger. The view isn't spectacular, but being able to start the day by sliding the door open for fresh air is always nice. I didn't get the breakfast buffet included with my stay because I was unsure if I'd be awake for it, but I was able to check it out a couple of times. They just add the charge (€9) to your room. You're provided with gloves when entering and instructed that masks and gloves must be worn when you're up at the buffet. For a hotel, the buffet had a great spread. Lots to choose from whether you're in the mood for sweets, carb loading, fresh fruits, eggs, sausage, cheese, deli meats, cereal, etc. I don't like eggs, but I found myself obsessed with their scrambled eggs. Delicious. Freshly squeezed juices were available as well. A server would ask if you wanted cappuccino and it would be served with 2 mini doughnuts. They were so fresh and yummy. For my last night, it was pouring, so I decided to have dinner at the hotel restaurant. Again, service was excellent. I ordered the calamari as a starter. Because of my dietary issues, I swapped the salad for chips. They were so good. For my main, I ordered lamb chops with potatoes. Dinner was delicious. I would have loved for a sauce to accompany the meal, but that's just me. A basket of bread was brought out with dinner, but I skipped it, so I can't speak to whether it was hot, fresh bread or not. Best Western Plus Hotel Universo is located close to so many things. If you want to take public transit, Termini Station is a quick 5 min walk away. I got to get in some Black Friday shopping on Via Nazionale just minutes away from the hotel as well. If you choose to take a taxi, just ask Front Desk to call one for you. They'll give you a slip with your taxi number on it and you're off. I opted to do most of my sightseeing past midnight. Unlike the hotels here that are buzzing at all hours of the night, I discovered from the dude at the restaurant across the street that I had to ring the doorbell to have the doors opened for me when I returned at 3am. Yes. I was a single woman walking around Rome late at night and can attest that it was completely safe. Shout out to the person working Front Desk who constantly had to come let me in and open the doors for my late-night Uber Eats. I probably annoyed the crap out of him, but he never once made me feel that way. Check-out was a breeze. I settled up my bill and the city taxes and that was that. I was breaking up with Best Western Plus Hotel Universo until next time. Overall, I enjoyed my stay here and I recommend it for anyone who is travelling solo in Rome for the first time. I can't wait to return. (I know this review is super long winded, but it's going to be on my blog and I'm too lazy to write this twice. Lol.)

We chose the hotel because of the proximity to the train station which made it easy going to and from the airport. It was also within walking distance of other area attractions. The hotel followed Covid protocols and the people at the desk were helpful.

My husband and I only stayed one night at this property as our original trip was to Florence, but our flight home was out of Rome. However, I am planning to return to Rome with family next year and our experience has put this property at the top of our list for that next trip. This is far and away the nicest Best Western I have experienced. It is a quick walk from Termini Station and the rooms are very nice and very reasonably-priced. The whole property was sparklingly clean and our Jr Suite well-appointed, with comfortable beds, a lovely balcony and - my favorite - a spacious showers with fantastic water pressure and big, fluffy towels. The only thing missing was a robe and slippers. However, the best part of our stay was the staff. They were warm and welcoming from the moment we stepped foot in the lobby. Marco at the front desk was particularly helpful and charming. We look forward to returning in the future.

I hate writing bad reviews, but I had an awful experience at Best Western Universo this october, since multiple blunders were made on their part throughout my stay. First of all, after checking into my room I found that the shower was filthy with soap, dirt, and scratches. Not having enough time to move rooms, I cleaned it myself and went out to lunch. Then, after coming back, I found another person's luggage sitting in my room- the hotel staff had entered my room without my permission and dropped off someone else's belongings! I called the front desk and they sent someone up to retrieve them. I tried to ask what had happened but there was a language barrier so I gave up. I went down to the front desk to complain that night and the concierge said there was nothing he could do but I could come back in the morning to speak with the manager (as if it was up to me to remediate their mistakes). The next day while in the room, I received a call from the front desk where someone was muttering unintelligibly. I tried asking many times what they were saying, but they clearly couldn't understand me and kept yammering away. I think they were probably calling about room service, but it was sketchy because of the lack of communication and that we had a "do not disturb" sign on our door. Very odd. Went down again to talk to the manager that night and no one was in, yet again. Finally spoke to the manager on the last day and while he did sit down with me, he also tried to turn the situation around on me saying I hadn't given enough notice on this situation or he would have fixed it sooner (not true, as I had gone to the desk several times at this point). I said a voucher for a future stay wasn't acceptable as I didn't want to stay at the hotel again. He said he'd talk with his higher ups and work through a solution with me, giving me his email. Then I reached out again a week later asking for an update and he said a voucher was all he was going to do as that was their policy (so he lied to me about finding an alternate solution). I tried again to explain to him why this wasn't suitable but he would not budge. I gave plenty of opportunities to BW and the manager Martin to fix this but they have failed every step of the way, hence this review.

Overall a clean and spacious (by Rome standards) hotel close to transportation. Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Colloseum is about a 20 minute walk. Lots of food and drink around the hotel.

Absolutely disgusted with the treatment by Martin Pirnokov one of your staff. I had originally booked to stay in this hotel on my European honeymoon from Australia in June 2020. Of course the pandemic broke put and the Australian borders closed (and are still closed) for international travel. I contacted the hotel to cancel the reservation and recieve a refund and was told I could only recieve a credit voucher and was offered 2 years on this. I then advised that I would prefer a refund as I do not know when I can travel again considering the situation in Australia to then be issued with a credit voucher from Martin for 1 year!? What do you mean? You offer 2 years and then issue one. I left it at that since then the voucher has obviously expired. I contacted the hotel 2 months ago to request a refund as the voucher had expired and I am still unable to leave my country and was not responded to for 2 months, I followed up again to find out what was happening with my refund to be responded to again by Martin telling me the situation was getting better in Italy and all I required was a vaccination and he could extend for a further 6 months. . . So what if I don't have a vaccination? Will you refund my money then? I advised Martin I am still unable to leave my country as the Australian borders are closed, the flight from Australia to Italy is 22 hours and can't just be rescheduled at the drop of a hat also without reprocussion trying to return to Australia with hotel quarantine periods required. I am also 8 months pregnant and will not be travelling with a 6 month old baby as suggested by offering a 6 month extension. Martin has now suggested i extend the voucher out the 6 months as he previously suggested and then extend again when that expires. I am sorry, but that is not acceptable, you are an international hotel chain and should be more considerate to guests personal situations. I can not leave my country to stay in your hotel. I would appreciate someone other than Martin contacting me about this situation to rectify respectively. Thank you.

Hotel Universo is an elegant and well priced hotel in Rome - a hotel of this quality would be much more per night in the US. It is very convenient to Rome Termini, so this hotel is great for those coming from the airport, or going to the airport for an outgoing flight. The rooms are of nice size, beautiful, clean and the bed was very comfortable. We did not have room facing the street or with a balcony, but as we were not there to hang out at the hotel, but to see Rome, the room was exactly what we needed at a good price. Access to tourist areas, either by walking, bus or metro makes it a good base for those exploring Rome. There are many restaurants immediately close to the restaurant, and some very interesting restaurants within a decent walking distance. The breakfast was the best we had during our two week stay in Italy. The staff are helpful and competent, but also very busy, so there was limited interaction, and if a large group is checking in or out, there may be a bit of a wait. When we are back in Rome, we will seek to book a room at this property, as well as recommend it to visitors we expect to come to visit us in Italy

We stayed for 4 nights in Sept 21 . Our room was a good size and the balcony was excellent for relaxing after a busy day. The bed was very comfortable and the hotel was quiet at night. Breakfast in morning had a good variety. It was busier at the weekend and I would advise having breakfast earlier to avoid the rush. The location was good, 5 min walk to termini from where we took the Terravision bus to airport. We walked to all the tourist sites in Rome from the hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful. The only small issue was the temperature of the water in the shower was unpredictable. It would turn very hot unexpectedly.

Nice room and friendly staff. Also very good breakfast was included on our room. The cleanness of the room was fairly good and I cant complain about nothing special.We enjoyed our five days trip in this hotel, also I should mention that the location of the hotel was so good with very good restaurants around.

We chose the hotel because of its location close to Termini station but on a quiet road close to a selection of good restaurants. We had a superior room with balcony on the 7th floor and the balcony was very spacious with a sunlounger as well as a table and chairs, and a view of Santa Maria Maggiore church and bell tower which looked lovely when illuminated at night. It was a great place to relax with a drink after a hard day's sightseeing. The room was spacious with a very large and comfortable bed, and very quiet all the time. The staff who serviced the room did an excellent job both of cleaning and restocking any items used. Staff at reception were always very pleasant and helpful. We chose not to take breakfast in the hotel because of not being able to select our own food from a buffet and possible delays waiting for a staff member to serve us if the hotel was busy (I know this is not the hotel's fault but a safety measure put in place because of Covid but it's not something we enjoy). There was a very nice café on the corner near the hotel which served a wide selection of breakfast dishes and we could have coffee in our room thanks to the electric kettle available. There were plenty of lifts so we never had long to wait for one. All in all we felt the hotel offered very good value for money especially for a room with such nice outside space. The only negative we experienced was having to wait too long to check out as a group was checking in early at the same time and we were worried about missing our train. It would be helpful if there was a separate queue for guests just wanting to check out.

We had a big doubleroom with a big balcony on 7:th floor. The view from there was stunning. The room was quiet, comfy and clean. Staff was helpfull and friendly, especially Monica who showed the table for breakfast. She was happy and friendly every singel morning. We (Gerd and Tom) miss her. Breakfast was very good and fresh. It was easy to go anywhere from the hotel, if you wanted to walk or take a bus or metro or hopp on hopp off bus. Buses and metro from Termini a 5 minutes walk from hotel. Very handy!!. A lot of restaurants in the neighbourhood. We had a great time but I must warn you from eating dinner nighttime at the hotel- restaurant, terrible food that is overpriced and I also got foodpoisened after eaten there. Sick for a whole night and the next day.

We stayed here for 5 nights in one of the Executive Rooms with balcony. Our room was on the 7th floor with a big balcony and view to the Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore. We were very satisfied with the room size and cleanliness. The only minor issue was a flat that was above us - not a hotel room. There was banging and other loud noises every evening, but luckily not early in the morning or in the night. The location is perfect, as the hotel is 5 minutes walk away from Termini station. Breakfast was also nice, but this system of queuing and being served by the waiters at the buffet is extremely inconvenient. What we also don't understand that hotels do require neither a negative test nor a proof of vaccination, but they let everybody dine together. This is very strange and probably wrong, but that's not the hotel's fault, if the government regulations allow this. We found the entire staff very friendly and helpful - especially Ana at Reception.

This hotel is just a few blocks from Termini Train/Metro Station. That made if convenient for me to complete all my sightseeing in Rome. The hotel looked to be newly renovated and my room was an oasis with wonderful air conditioning (during the heat and humidity of August). The breakfast was great and I had a great stay. If you are visiting Rome, I can strongly recommend this hotel to you. By the way, if you did not want to use the hotel restaurant, a number of nice and relatively inexpensive restaurants are located nearby.

A good location to explore Rome. The room was big, with an upstairs big bed and TV, the draw back for this was that there is only one bathroom downstairs. Downstairs, there was 2 single beds put together, but the mattresses kept moving and it is kind of dangerous of falling down, if you sit without looking. The bathroom was quite big. The internet connection was good. The breakfast was good, almost the same products every day. The staff was nice and helpful. Overall, a good experience.

One of the worst experience with a receptionist of an hotel. We book 5 rooms and we had 2 small babies under 3years old, no electricity on arrival (answer of the lady from receiption was ,,just want to inform you that other rom they have SO this is enough for you to know''), no coat for babies, one TV and one freezer was not working. Just wondering when they know that they will have check ins they don't check the rooms??? NOT recomendet

Nice hotel and good customer service. I made a mistake in my reservation, and Expedia was unable to fixed the issue, I was traveling with two kids and I was worried, but the front desk fixed it and helped me and my family to have a confortable stay.

Hotel is less than a couple of minutes from train station. Termini is a huge train station and can get confusing. Use exit piazza dei cinquecento. When you go upstairs if you see white taxi, bus and Italian flag you're at the right exit. Make sure to turn left on first road via Cavour but be on the right side. If you see hotel Genova turn right. I thought about staying closer to tourist attractions that require metro or taxi ride but so glad staying close to termini. One train ride to Airport and Florence. Bus ride to everywhere. Walking distance to many attractions. Supermarkets at station. Just like any other big cities there're all kinds of people at train station but nobody really bother you. Staff are very nice and room is small but clean and modern. They have converter for electronics if you're coming from the U.S. Wall is thin that's typical in Europe but I slept well. I don't know about 4 stars though. I have noticed 4 stars in Italy are different from other countries. The biggest let down was breakfast. They set up as buffets but can't get your own food. It was so inconvenient since you can't grab anything and have to wait in line to ask for one item. Their cappuccino was excellent. Also 2 waiters did amazing job, They were very fast and efficient they saved our frustration. Other than breakfast everything was great. Price was right too.

Hotel situated in good place. 5 min walking from Termini Station. Personnel is friendly and helpful. English is a bit poor, but understandable. ATM avaliable next to reception. Breakfast now is poor, from hot only scrambled egg and bacon. Ham, cheese and prosciutto available, as well as some bread and sweet, juices. Coffee will be made by weider. Cappuccino is very good. Romm was on 7th floor, small, smallest I saw. But big plus is terrace with table, chairs and lounger. Near was church and in the evening its lithing is beautiful. As well as every 15 mins bell tolls.

My wallet was stolen on our first day in Rome. The pick pocket physically pinned me against a luggage carrier in the train. To make the trauma worse, it was almost impossible to find a police station which gave a $#@! (we went to three before finding one which would even take a report). "Not my job," seems to be a theme. Too bad such a nice hotel is in such a dangerous area.

Very nice large suit with large balcony. Comfortable bed and nice bathroom. The staff was very serviceminded and helpful. We did not have the breakfast but found a nice place close by. Good location when arriving with the train. Will be back.

Really enjoyed my stay at this central hotel, close to Termini Station. Staff very friendly, efficient and helpful in these challenging times. Room was comfortable and cleaned daily. Breakfast was good and served to you in your seat rather than buffet due to Coronavirus, waiting on staff were excellent too. Would highly recommend staying here if you want a mid-priced hotel close to transport links and walk-able to the main sites!

So we had originally arranged a stay at a different hotel, when we arrived that hotel was boarded up with just a telephone number on the door. When we rang the number it put us through to this hotel who were amazing, they handled everything so efficiently and helped ease our distress. They honoured our booking (the other hotel wasn't a Best Western) and gave us 2 lovely rooms, no fuss at all. We were so very grateful and will definitely make this hotel our first choice when we return to Rome.

We stayed here for one night whilst transiting through Rome. Although the location is close to the station, and the entrance is clean, the room itself was very tiny and dark, despite paying for a larger room from their website. Bathroom was also in need of updating with scratched bathtub and scuff marks everywhere. Wouldn't come here again for the money.

Our family was scheduled to visit Rome at the end of June, 2020. We had three rooms reserved for 4 nights. Due to CODID 19 and the travel restrictions imposed by the country of Italy, we were not able to travel and make our reservation. I sent an email in late May informing the hotel that we were not going to be able to arrive due to the travel restrictions. Even though we had a non-cancellation reservation, I asked if they would issue a credit voucher for the amount of our deposit, for a future stay. I did not receive a response. I subsequently filed a claim with my credit card company. They informed me that Best Western Universo responded that it was a non-cancellation reservation but if I contacted them, they would be willing to issue a credit. I subsequently sent another email, referencing their response to my credit card company, asking if they would issue a credit for future travel. I still have not received a response. I am very disappointed that a hotel with the Best Western Brand would not be willing to offer a credit for future travel to customers that were not able to honor a reservation due to the unprecedented situation caused by the COVID19 travel restrictions.

I was scheduled to travel to Rome Italy this month but due to COVID-19, the European Union is not allowing US citizens entry into Italy for non essential travel. We booked this hotel at the beginning of the year before the pandemic hit. I have corresponded with the hotel to get a refund and they flat out refused stating their policy. You would think some common sense would come into play as I did not cancel but Italy is not letting me visit. Again the lack of common sense is mind boggling. Shame on the Best Western Hotel chain and I will be sure to tell everyone via social media how BW robs people during unprecedented times.

Ideally located just a ten minute walk away from the Colosseum, five minutes or so from the Termini and near to the interesting Monti neighbourhood. It was very clean, breakfast was good, the staff were helpful, friendly and professional and the service, when we requested extra pillows and sheets was prompt and efficient. Would certainly recommend and was excellent value for money.

We cancelled our trip back in March due to COVID but the hotel is charging us anyway because I cannot provide cancellation number. Were told there is no chance that the fault is with their computer system. Every other accomodation [flights, Airbnb] all provided refunds, but Best Western charged us for the night cancelled.
