Fabulous location - Spotless rooms nice linen - the staff were so lovely and very very helpful . The food in their restaurant was stunning - the steak was the best I have eaten for a long time.

DO NOT STAY HERE! I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel obligated to warn other travelers. This hotel was an enormous disappointment. We visited during a major heat wave, and there was no air conditioning. Far worse, is that this was not clearly disclosed when we booked nor was it communicated to us as it became known there was a major heat wave going through France (one that has killed several hundreds across Europe). The room felt over 100°F (38°C) and completely unbearable. A family member has a condition that makes them prone to fainting and this was just not going to work for us. It would be impossible to sleep or even comfortably stay in the room to relax . To make matters worse, our sauna of a room didn't have TOILET PAPER when we checked in. The parking situation was also frustrating. It was difficult to find (with again no advance warning that there is construction around the property), and we later learned that the garage closes at 10:00 p.m. with no access to your vehicle afterward. We were in town for a wedding that would end much later, making this completely impractical. This restriction was never made clear before our arrival. Given all of these issues, we kindly asked to be refunded so we could comfortably stay elsewhere, but the hotel refused. We ultimately chose to leave anyway and accept the financial penalty because staying simply wasn't an option. I understand that older hotels may not have air conditioning, but that information should be made unmistakably clear—especially during a heat wave. At least open a window before our arrival and let in some fresh air! It would have been nice to receive some sort of communication in advance to prepare us for our stay (there was none - not even a “your stay is coming up” type email). Transparency would have allowed us to book somewhere else. Unfortunately, this was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences we've ever had.

"Fine for a stopover"

This hotel is fine for a stopover but it's not as attractive as it looks in the photos. There is no bar or comfortable lounge area to relax in and the room was very small. Perfectly fine but nothing more than that. Very limited parking so make sure you book ahead if you need it.

This a lovely hotel in a perfect location for visiting the sights and restaurants. All within walking distance. Clean and great size bedrooms. Lovely breakfast. Staff were so helpful and friendly. Would go back again and recommend.

The room is plain and one night was plenty. The bathroom was clean but had an odd smell. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel but the dining room looked stark.

I will start with the caveat that “ it was during a heatwave” We had room 301 at the very top of the hotel. Not a problem as there was a lift. We had arranged for pay to park which again wasn't a problem because we arrived on a motorcycle. If we'd been in a car that may have posed a problem because one car was parked so badly it was taking up part of our allocated space. The receptionist was polite and informative and gave directions to the garage. Breakfast, good selection of continental ingredients and plenty of it. Negatives. We had traveled on a motorcycle in 34degree heat for six hours so you can image just how hot we were. Things couldn't have got hotter you would have thought, Then, we opened the door to our room and the wall of heat that hit us made us both vocalise “ f..k me that's hot” The windows were shut but the curtains had been left open making the room into a sealed green house. The room had a fan in it. Solution! Open the windows and shut the curtains in the bedroom. Keep the bathroom door shut because the curtains in there are next to useless to keep the sun out. Put the chair from the desk as close to the bed as the lead from the fan will reach. Put the bin from the bathroom on the chair and balance the fan in it. That way you get the benefit of the fan because if you leave it on the desk it's rubbish.

"Delighted with this good value for money overnight stay"

We booked a superior double room for one night via the BW app. We were delighted with the value for money and inclusive of breakfast rates available. This hotel is ideally located near to the town centre and parking is exceptionally easy, at a local car park a short walk away. Our room was a good size, clean, very comfortable and we enjoyed breakfast. Staff were all friendly and helpful. It's a lovely hotel and we'd be happy to stay again.

Central location in FOUGERE. Friendly welcome and helpful staff. Easy walk to Chateau and other sites. Very clean rooms and good breakfast. Parking is in the back and you must reserve it ahead. Excellent restaurant for dinner in the hotel building.

Stayed on 12th September. A certain booking site booked us two rooms at the hotel. Had a deluxe double on top floor of hotel. Threats room.was large with big bed. Slept fitfully after a day's exploring. Breakfast was self service. Choice of cereals, pastries and cold meats and cakes. Coffee machine and fruit juice available. Hotel staff very helpful and able to pass information in English. They recommended a place to eat and knew what restaurants were open.

Hotel is pretty standard, but adeally placed for all that Fougere has to offer. I eas on a day day visit. Shame we were there on a Sunday as shops closed. The little train is a fun ride. The hotel had maps with all the attractions and sights to see. Easily done in a day. I didn't go into the castle. I understand it is just the ramparts and views but I had seen what I wanted to. 2 lovely churches too.
