Best Western Premier Alsterkrug Hotel

I have lived great experience.

I have stayed at this hotel once before in a standard room which was very small so on this occasion decided to book an executive room. The latter was a good size and on first impressions I was very pleased with the room. However, I will not be returning due to the policy employed by the hotel regarding the air conditioning. Initially the air con worked fine (although it only went down to 19C which presumably is a cost saving measure employed by some hotels). However, later in the evening the air con suddenly switched from cooling mode to heating mode. Upon reporting this to reception, I was informed that the air con only works when the external temperature reaches a certain level. This is ridiculous; I don't care what the temperature is outside, I am sleeping inside, so it is the temparature inside the room where I am actually trying to sleep that is important. So, despite air con being listed as an amenity at this hotel, it was not available to me and I will therefore not stay at this hotel again. Whilst I accept the outside temperature was cool, as with so many hotels the room itself remained hot and so the availability of air con was important to me, so much so that I only ever book a hotel if air con is listed as available. Whilst speaking to reception, the best advice they could offer was to open a window. I don't know if this was meant as a joke or if they were meaning to be helpful, but given our room was right next to the dual carriageway which runs alongside one side of the hotel, this was not a solution as the noise from the traffic was horrendous (on the plus side, this showed that the sound proofing from the windows clearly worked well, just don't plan on leaving them open!). I have immediate family who live in Hamburg so had planned to use this hotel on a regular basis but due to this recent experience I will now have to find a different hotel that actually provides the services that they list as available. The rest of the hotel was fine; dinner was good although I found the breakfast very limited but appreciate that is just down to personal preference. Other than the air con issue, the executive room itself was pretty good. It was a good size given the location of the hotel in a large city, but the bed wasn't very comfortable as the mattress was too firm and the duvet too thick, but again I realise this is personal preference. There should however be more than one pillow per person in the room; we did get more from reception but if a budget hotel chain such as Premier Inn can provide additional pillows in the room, then I see no reason why this is not the case at this hotel.

While the hotel is good, it is really the people that made it a great place to stay. Great location, parking was really easy and convenient. The room was very comfortable, food was really good. Staff in the front office, bar, and restaurant went out of their way to make our stay a wonderful one! Thank you!

This is just a short taxi ride to Hamburg airport. Hotel is lovely - updated, clean, good wi-if. Definitely worth it!

As our flight got canceled and we had to stay overnight, Lufthansa booked this hotel for us and provided a voucher for our stay. It included breakfast but our flight was too early to try it. Check-in was a breeze, friendly, efficient, helpful service. No problems using our voucher. Hotel is different, I'd call it a boutique style. Our room was plenty big for the two of us for one night. The front desk arranged for a taxi pickup in the morning, and when we were ready early, we took an earlier taxi with the help of the morning agent. I'd stay again even without a canceled flight.

I have visited this hotel many times before the pandemic, this is the first time in 3 year, and it's not the same. My favourite thing was the quaint restaurant, well they have updated it, for me lost its charm. Unfortunately charm is lacking in the restaurant staff also, ignorant is the word, they are doing you a favour to offer you a table, not good. The breakfast staff are brilliant, the total opposite to the evening staff, and the foods not bad also. So the hotel is OK, but I recommend finding an alternative for the evening meal. My next time in Hamburg in a few weeks time I will be trying a different hotel, after using this as my go to place in Hamburg, it's sad, but things change.

Everything is first rate ,starting with the staff ,restaurant and room . Wish I could have stayed longer which I will do on my return . The rooms are quiet even on a busy street . Close to the airport ,easy taxi ride or bus across the street . They have an elevator . Love the idea of key card to turn on the lights ,you always know where the card is located . They have air conditioning.which is wonderful . Hope everyone visit is as wonderful as mine !

Its ideal to stay in before going to the airport. It has everything you want. The dinner was excellent. I loved the breakfast and it keeps you going. I didn't try the spa. Its very comfortable. If you want a bath then ask as you are booking. The rooms aren't the biggest but as it was only for an overnight it does the job. We had a car to take us to the airport.

Although the Best Western website states that this hotel has an airport shuttle, it doesn't. Staff doesn't think this discrepancy is an issue. The result is that it's not conveniently easy to get to from the airport, nor the city.

I pay 20 eur for breakfast but it's was nothing to eat and the food they offer was bad and it's was just small off choices. Most off the warm food was empty and they not filling up. There was like nothing to eat and they Wi-Fi is not working and you cannot do you work when I'm was in need for Wi-Fi.

This hotel really goes the extra mile to take care of its guests. It caters to a wide range of tastes and needs. The staff is very professional and are willing to adapt plans the better suit you. Food, drinks, logistics, services, location all were great!

I was there for professional reasons, and the personal made everything to help me to be rested. They quickly suggest solutions if you have a question or a special need. The room was spacious et nicely decorated. I recommend this hotel and the restaurant.

The hotel is clean, the rooms are nice and decorated well. The location is close to the airport. Breakfast was good. Also, the restaurant was very good. I would recommend here. I did not face any problems.

All the hotel staff were extremely helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The restaurant staff were all very friendly and helpful especially Jan behind the bar. Amenities were sufficient although I couldn't understand why they gave you a 3/4 duvet for a double bed.

This hotel in a lovely leafy area of Hamburg is perfect. Includes a pass for the transit which we used extensively. There is a lovely terrace that is open weather permitting and the food is excellent. We ate here 3 of four days. The spa area is very beautiful too Woke to hear the birds

First off, I am a Lifetime titanium Marriott member with extensive travel and this never has happened to me. This hotel overcharged me by 2 nights (~$300) and is refusing to refund me this incorrect value. I've been fighting with them for 2 months about this- and even have a receipt stating the correct value. This is the worst customer experience I've ever had and will continue to fight this via Amex. Stay away- they are THE WORST.

Very strange When you pay your Rooms and one of them does not exist but already paid via Booking.com. After a long day working 300 km away and driving trough the night this was our “gift” at 22:30. After one and half hour in check in desk no solution was given and another hotel was booked 15 km away. We Had a Flight today and this os most unprofessional hotel i Ever seen. Very low standarts and no respect do the guests who paid in advance for a simple reservation.

Located in a quiet place and great connected to the traffic. Clean and tidy room with everyday service. Breakfast is diverse, a lot of tasty food and drinks. Polite staff ready to help you. Good for business travelers who aren't spending a lot of time in room.

Excellent hotel ,great breakfast. We stayed here in August for 3 nights for the price of 2 with an upgraded room. The offer also included all day travel on buses, S Bahn, U Bahn and some local ferry services on the river line 62. Bus stop right outside hotel to nearest U Bahn station. Room very nice with great shower and everything you should want for breakfast.A short taxi ride from the airport at ca 10 - 12 euros a trip. We did not use the restaurant in the evening so cannot comment on evening food. We ate most evenings in the Hauptbahnhof in Hamburg due to coveniance and price. Excellent staff and friendly service.

A new apartment hotel. Very clean and well situated. A good alternative if you want to be fully self sufficient and intend to stay for a longer period. Close to bus/train service which makes it easy to get around. Good facility.

Very nice, quiet and clean rooms and super friendly and service minded staff (late check-in and early breakfast). Breakfast good, with a big variety. Good Hotel location, if you prefer to be close to the airport.

I stayed at this best western for one night after my flight was cancelled, Receptionists are well trained to work with walk-in guests as the hotel works with Lufthansa. The rooms are quiet and clean, Dinner was good and breakfast was even better. Excellent hotel if you are passing by Hamburg and need a place to crash for the night.

Its a great option close to the Airport. Good service and decent installations. The rooms are okay for a short stay. The hotel mais asset is restaurant. Great food with a big variety of beers and wine. Recommended!

Stayed there for 3 nights, was a nice Hotel, good and friendly Service. Perhaps the only negative point is the Shower cubicle which hardly did not fit into the small bathroom. apart from that nothing to complain. To our surprise upon check in we where given a pass which permitted us to use for all the buses, trains, boat which added value to the deal and was very appreciated. Hotel is not really in downtown but easy reachable by taking bus and train. Room did not contain breakfast and at 18 euro per head we thought that it was quoted expensive so we did not mind going without. Room included expresso machine so we still had a nice cup of coffee every morning. Would consider this hotel again,

Nice hotel very close to the airport and a short walk to the Sporthalle venue the concert was at. Very helpful staff and a pleasure to stay here. About 25 mins to the city center on the 39 bus followed but the U1 train.

There is in my opinion nothing extraordinary in this place and maybe that is the advantage. I stayed several times in the place on different business trips. Check In and Check Out very fast and convenient. Rooms Clean and OK WiFi OK Service friendly Not far from the Airport What else do you expect from a business hotel? All good. Will come back next time.

This is probably the best hotel I've stayed in, in Hamburg. The only thing negative is it's a little out the way of the city, however there is a taxi rank and bus stop right outside the hotel. Have stayed here 4-5 times over the past two years for weekend shopping trips with family. Rooms very well maintained, clean and serviced daily. Breakfast buffet...first class.

The good: Very clean, very helpful staff, most of the essentials are there, nice patio restaurant area for the warmer evenings. The average: Average/small room size, OK breakfast, average in-room amenities, average food through room service. The bad: There is no air conditioning or fan in the room, so if you stay on hot days (in my case, above 28 degrees Celsius) the room gets rather hot. Really bad sound-proofing between rooms. Not really suited for a long stay, when you're there for business. Overall: As a transit hotel (i.e. overnight stay to change flights), it is really good. As a longer-stay hotel it leaves a lot to be desired.

Located in a beautiful neighborhood with canals and parks. 15 minute walk to the U- bahn is like walking through a park. 20 minute with u bahn from city senter of Hamburg. I did not try the restaurant. Good and varied breakfast and nice rooms.

Stayed at the Alsterkrug hotel for 3 nights with friends on a extended weekend trip to Hamburg. The Hotel is very nice and clean. The hotel staff is extremely nice and helpful and all the information and material that we received was in danish :-) Unfortunately we did not have time to visit the spa or bowling alley. We had lunch in the Bierstube and 3 course dinner in the hotel restaurant and both meals was very very good. The rooms where very nice with a small balcony where we could sit and enjoy the sun fazing the garden. The missing star to this review is because of the distance to Hamburg city but it all worked out with the free bus and train-card we got from the hotel. We would highly recommend this hotel any time and maybe we will come back some day.

I always enjoy any stay at a Best Western. This was no exception. Polite staff, clean, comfortable and fully modern. Good food selection at reasonable prices given close to a major International airport. Wifi fast and I will stay again next time in the city. Excellent connections to bus and trains.

Yesterday I spend one night in this Hotel. As it is really Close to the Airport and I had an early flight in the morning the travel agencybooked this one and I can tell you that it is really nice. Good Service and good gym. I can recommend it.

The location was best for my stay as I had an examination just down the street from where the hotel was. It was very close to the airport as well. The Alsterdorf Damm bus stop happens to be just in front of the hotel, the bus takes you to the closest train station in minutes. The staff at the restaurant, reception and housekeeping added their personal yet professional touch along with their service. Definitely will consider coming back!

Unlike U.S. Best Western "Premiers" I've visited, this hotel was a luxurious property. My room was large; the bed was comfortable and had high-quality linens. The bathroom was large and had nice toiletries. I ate at the restaurant three times. The food was very good. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Their English was better than mine, and English is my first language. This hotel is very near the airport, so not particularly convenient for tourism.

Stayed here during my vacation. Nice hotel with a beer garden in the back. The rooms where well equipped and very clean. Generously equipped coffeemaker and tea in the rooms. Great breakfast. Easy to find and easy to find parking. Very friendly and helpful staff.

We liked our room, which was comfortable in all important respects. However it was instantly forgettable on departure- little character. Good breakfast, though expensive! Staff are very efficient...at ensuring guests obey all the in house rules. So it's efficient but impersonal.

Stayed for two nights as part of a package deal. Had a room facing the road. The room itself is fine, with all the stuff you need. Even with 'sound-proof' windows, there is some traffic noise though - but not intolerable. There is a newly establish wellness section which has some great facilities, breakfast is fine, and we had a two-course dinner included in the offer. It was very tasty and with good quality ingredients. Staff friendly and effective, parking is right there, and as a nice touch the hotel provides a commuter pass for buses and trains (abt. 20-30 mins to city center), free of charge. This hotel is recommended as a good base for a Hamburg visit, if you are OK with staying outside the city center. Would have given 'full score', but have to deduct a bit for the traffic noise in road-facing rooms.

We stayed here for a weekend break. From the moment we arrived until the moment we checked out the service was excellent. Nothing was too much trouble and every single member of staff that we came into contact with was friendly and helpful. The hotel is spotlessly clean and very well equipped. Although we didn't eat at the hotel, the bar was well stocked along with a great cocktail menu. One small criticism - the bar area is too small and cramped. The hotel goes the extra mile by providing a free 'travelcard' for the trains and busses and they even lent me a phone charger after I had forgotten mine! The bus stop is directly outside the hotel and it is just a 15 minute ride to the airport. Alternatively, Alsterdorf train station is just a pleasant 20 minute walk away with frequent trains into the city centre. We would not hesitate to recommend this hotel and will stay here again on our return to Hamburg in the future.

I was in the Hotel for a Business trip. The Hotel is very confortable and the rooms are very big with old fashion forniture. The quality of the breakfast is very high with a big amount of choice, The price is a little bit high. The position of the Hotel is very good for the early morning flights. The Hotel is close to the Street and the traffic is high.

For the money for a night I expected 4* hotel. I admit, having the look of a wooden house it is quite fitting to the surroundings, however the rooms are basic. Breakfast was average and I did not care much to be disturbed daily to be handed over gummi bears pack. Also, there is nothings besides airport to be done here. For the price there are beter hotels, if you however need to stay in area or have an early flight, the location is great, on the bus stop to airport and to the city 9which is rather far away). Also positive is free wifi and possibility of bus tisket to be stamped on your hotel card.

Proximity to airport, modern yet cozy rooms, nice restaurant with comfortable chairs and the best cook for a first class steak dinner. I wholeheartedly recommend the Best Western Alsterkrug Hotel in Hamburg.

I was introduced to this Hotel by some friends that have stayed a couple of time during Sundays, opting to check in with the help of the Sunday Night Stay Package. I did some research, and I wanted to try it out. It was my birthday during that weekend, and together with my wife, we decided to make a medium trip around Europe. We descended from Denmark, to Germany and then to Poland. On Sunday, my birthdate, we arrive in the quiet and good looking Best Western Alsterkrug. We were greeted and proceeded to check-in. We also took our little dog, and he actually received a small treat, and two bowls for food and water. We were introduced to the major hotel facilities and amenities, and we went straight to the room. The room seemed very clean, and in a good condition. We had the minibar/fridge, a coffee/tea machine with 3 free coffee capsules, and a nice flatscreen TV. The room had a balcony that is actually quiet comfortable. I really enjoyed all the informational material that was available in the different brochures, and drawers... It allowed me to actually understand the history of the place, and exhaustively analyse and access what type of services/amenities are there in the hotel, and how to best use them. As part of our (cheap - 115 EUR) stay, we had a dinner to be eaten in the Hotel's restaurant, and I must say that it was delicious. In fact, the vegetables are really something worth trying, and the meat from the main dish was also ok. What really stayed in my memory were the very tasty and well cooked vegetables! In the end of the dinner, I was presented with a small Birthday cake that was organised by my wife and the restaurant waiter (thank you for that!). The service was also relevantly good, since both the waiters were always very happy, smiley and ready to explain us everything in a calm and polite way. All the staff we encountered spoke in English, and that was cool, because we are not fluent in German languadge. The breakfast was also very enjoyable, tough the room seems to be a little small for a lot of guest coming around the same time to eat. The buffet selection is good, and we had all necessary breakfast items. It was a little awkward to eat almost nearby 45 other couples and groups in the nearby tables, but I guess that most of people don't see a problem with it. I personally would prefer a little more space and comfort get up and walk around... but that was ok! The spa facilities were also very appealing! having two saunas, a steam bath and some hot/cold showers, you have everything to actually relax for some time, clean yourself and get some energies. There is also a lounge room that has two heated rock chairs that may do wonders in your back! Try those out! It is a must. Nearby the Hotel you won't find many things, but if you will definitively enjoy the nearby river and its surrounding flora... A great walk around the river is suggested! Alternatively, you can also visit a small bar in the river back (next to the hotel) and get some cocktail while enjoying the air, the quietness and picturesque views. All in all, we were very pleased with our experience. We took the Sunday package ( we strongly recommend that one!) and we might actually get back for that soon! The prices during the rest of the days are a little expensive for us, so these Sunday packages are great to enjoy an end of weekend in a calm and quiet place in the outskirts of Hamburg. We receive bus tickets to go to the city but we did not use them.

It's a Hotel not far from the airport and thats it. Way off to the interesting Parts of Hamburg. Only a good Price offeriert could lure mehr in again....but not really. Taxi to downtown around 30 Euro plus.

Quiet neighbourhood; not easily accessible for subway/ train travel. No laundry unless you are staying for more than one night-laundry service. The only thing Premier about this location is the restaurant. However, convenient bus stop direct to airport is right across the street--ticket included in your stay!
