"Not accurate with the truth"
Hayley L, 23 Septembre 2022

17 family members booked this hotel for January 2023 beginning of August. Yesterday a few got notifications of the booking being cancelled. My husband went to the hotel, the car park had about 20 young kids playing cricket and there were other people repairing push bikes etc. He asked about the cancellation and was told it was due to the hotel now having ‘Long term guests my husband said refuges then, judging by the car park '. This was not denied by the receptionist. This would not be a problem to us albeit an inconvenience rebooking another hotel. The problem is when I phoned this morning and asked the receptionist, what I was told was far from truthful. She told me the bookings had been cancelled due to over running building work, when I mentioned the conversation my husband had the previous evening, she completely denied that they had long term guests and it was just because of the building work. I could clearly hear many people in the background, including a child crying loudly, when I enquired about this I was told what I could hear was her manager talking to the maintenance man, I asked if the maintenance man was a child, she completely denied there were any children , as she said ‘in her reception'. I said I know what a child crying sounds like and you clearly have a child in your reception. The receptionist continued to deny there was anyone staying at the hotel and it was and I quote ‘cancelled due to over running drilling works. With this level of lies, how can you trust this sort of hotel chain. Tell the truth for goodness sake, you may have something going on, we know you have bricks outside and a cover on the front of your building, but don't blatantly lie to people. Do yourself a favour if you are looking to book the premier Inn is much cheaper and closer to town and at least you won't be cancelled or lied too.

"Terrible"
joanne g, 14 Février 2022

We paid nearl 160 for an executive room which consisted of a chair table and bed all well used. The bed had some sort of blankets on mattress darnt look. Two decorative pillows smelling of stale perfume causing me to itch because of my allergy. Just one biscuit with tea and coffee. On arrival we were told no bar open no restaraunt but they would supply glasses had to drive back into town to eat not what you want after working all day.the hotel looked like a cheap travel lodge 1970s not in the nicest of surroundings. Good choice for breakfast but it was cold. cold plate etc. the rooms surrounding us were noisy doors banging people visiting the rooms.this hotel cannot be classed as a starred hotel.don't stay here use premier inn at a third of price clean comfy.£160 I feel I've been robbed

"Best Western Atlantic Chelmsford"
karinf764, 09 Février 2022

This hotel is full of families who have been evacuated from Afghanistan - I don't object to that but as such it is very noisy and full of young children running up and down the corridors until late at night, balls being bounced on the floor above etc. As a business traveller it is imposible to concentrate on work in an evening because of the noise. The reception staff are fabulous and are trying to sort things out.

"100% Recommend!!"

Best hotel I have ever stayed at! Can't thank the staff enough - Toni, Gabi, Lindsey, Gulia. The housekeeping team are amazing. Restaurant staff always made sure I was looked after with great food. Thank you again to all the amazing staff at The Atlantic Hotel! Hope to see you again soon. ❤️❤️❤️

"Wonderful and welcoming"

"Review Chelmsford"
KFos222, 24 Janvier 2022

The on-line check in was very simple, which made the check-in on arrival even more simple. The receptionist just handed me the room key and provided simple but accurate directions to my room. The room was as spacious as I had expected for the room I had chosen, and very clean, also as expected.

"Ideal location"
michaelgP219MB, 16 Décembre 2021

2 night stay here. Very clean, comfortable well equipped room. Very friendly and helpful staff. Good cooked to order breakfast. Ideal location for visiting Chelmsford within 10 minutes walk of city centre and railway station. Only draw back was our room faced onto, but set back from, a main road. Noticeable, but not intrusive traffic noise during rush hours

"Best Hotel in area"
johnoR3602GS, 27 Novembre 2021

We use this hotel every couple of weeks to escape the kids and animals on our farm for the odd night. Very comfortable hotel with easy going staff. Always professional and there is a nice feeling of privacy which we love. Will continue to use on a regular basis and highly recommend for couples, work trips or anything really. John & Nicky

"Surprisingly good and great value"
Shaff P, 08 Novembre 2021

Nice clean modern hall, lovely atrium modern lobby. Clean rooms - nice and cool in temperature not stuff and warm like many hotels. Huge beds. Friendly staff. At breakfast we were allocated a coffee table and soft chairs for our family of 6, so a little uncomfortable for the 2 elderly members to eat 9would have preferer to be seated at a table. But overall good experience - would def come back!

"Perfect for Weddings!"
jparas02, 06 Novembre 2021

I recently got married at Newland Hall and needed a place that had parking not too far away. This checked alot of boxes and the rooms were also perfect for couples or newly weds. I highly recommend this hotel if you are looking for a nice hotel with parking that is not far away from Newland Hall!

"Outstanding hotel"
jakehD3810BJ, 30 Octobre 2021

The staff was really friendly and willing to go the extra mile to help make sure you have a good night sleep jenjeela and Michelle are fantastic really friendly and bubbly from the start made me feel welcome and at ease went above and behind to ensure my night went without any problems and the room was up to par

"Terrible service not interested in customers,"
Inspire53870920766, 30 Octobre 2021

Too much to mention this is not a 4 star hotel more like one star ,the bar and restaurant are very rarely open felt we were staying at a overpriced holiday Inn , no lift so you to carry baggages, breakfast was horrible a heated up nightmare, when they ran out of things you wanted it was tough luck, not interested in guests no welcome pack no gym no nothing , please avoid at all costs we paid for an executive room no sleep at all so noisy from the industrial estate next door, fresh towels only once during our four night stay

"Relaxing stay"
305paule, 27 Octobre 2021

Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights, whilst in Chelmsford to complete in the 2021 marathon. The hotel is on a main road. However, from the room very quiet - no road noise. Very convenient parking (literally right outside reception) and a view of the car from the room! Despite the exterior of the building loiking unimpressive - the interior of the hotel (reception and rooms) was very modern. The double rooms are large, as is the bed. Bathroom also large and with a big walk in (rain) shower). Nespresso machine provided and welll stocked free beverages including coffee capsules. Only negative in the room was the Sky TV/freeview which did not work at despite following the instructions on the laminated card! Very close to the city centre, so an easy 10 min walk to all amenities.

"Business stay"
K7522ZIsimonm, 14 Octobre 2021

I've been staying at this hotel regularly over the last year or so. The reception staff, Iyrna, Toni and Gabbj make you feel really welcome and can't do enough for you. Breakfast and dinner in the evening are of a high standard along with the restaurant staff. The location is excellent for train connections to London and is less than a 10 minute walk from the hotel. I've stayed in a number of the rooms which are all of clean, tidy and well equipped. The beds are very comfortable and housekeeping are thorough when it comes to replenishing the essentials like towels and tea and coffee. If you're looking for a decent hotel for 1 or multiple nights then I can't recommend this place enough. The manager is also very personable and accommodating.

"Lovely hotel"
nickydruce, 10 Octobre 2021

My experience at this hotel has never been anything but amazing was disappointed that the bar was closed on a Friday evening as I don't really know the area but the room was lovely clean and bright would definitely recommend

"A relaxing stay"
hiddeninherhead, 25 Septembre 2021

From the outside Best Western Atlantic doesn't look awful but you wouldn't expect it to look as nice as it does. The hotel is in a good location. The hotel staff were friendly and my room was comfy and well stocked up with tea, coffee & bottled water. I stayed here for work and would stay here again whether it be for business or pleasure.

"Would definitely stay again"
ambermW661RT, 23 Septembre 2021

Stayed here for a couple weeks before uni, very nice and accommodating staff, bar and cleaning service. Within walking distance of a variety if restaurants and entertainment. Rooms were also very nice. Definitely recommend whether it's a family or business trip.

"Clean, modern, but inexperienced restaurant staff."
taylorsE5622WX, 22 Septembre 2021

The hotel itself was very clean, the reception desk staff were friendly and helpful, and the rooms were spacious, clean, modern and comfortable with a large TV and Nespresso coffee machine. The food was good at dinner and breakfast, however the restaurant staff all seemed very inexperienced - one member of staff didn't even know where the toilet was when I asked. We also found a hair in our food, and when we told the waiting staff they didn't seem concerned, didn't tell the kitchen and didn't really do anything about it. Apart from this, a good hotel to stay in.

"Avoid if you have a disability "
jonathanaL2642RT, 20 Septembre 2021

My friends and I stayed at Best Western in Chelmsford on the 4th of September 2021. This was a group booking which we started planning in March. I am a wheelchair user and required an adapted room. We communicated with the hotel management regarding my requirements and, although they were not the best at responding to multiple requests regarding my needs, eventually we got hold of the manager who personally oversaw the booking and I was subsequently booked into an adapted room. On arrival, I was advised that a family had been given my room. I was told they needed this room and they had been at the hotel for a number of weeks. The room I was left with had no adaptions in the bathroom and my wheelchair could not even fit through the bathroom door. This resulted in me having to use the public disabled toilet which included washing. Please be aware that I could only access the toilet through the bar. The bar, however, was locked over night and if it wasn't for the kindness of the night porter, who left it unlocked overnight, I wouldn't have been able to use the facilities at all. The issue I have is that the hotel knew my requirements as early as March, yet they gave my room to someone else with no further communication to me or my group. All they could offer me was a change of hotel. However, I was out with friends, who were all staying at the Best Western, so this was not practical. I have since had a refund. However, if you are a guest with mobility issues, and want to avoid the indignity of having to go through the bar to wash and use the toilet, then I would definitely avoid this hotel. Please note that some of the staff were very kind and clearly embarrassed about my situation but Best Western as a company and the higher echelons don't seem to be bothered about the stress and indignity they caused. My friend and I have since asked for a meeting to try and improve things for the hotel and future guests, but they just send generic emails back. It seems that by giving me a refund they feel the matter is closed.

"Poor Service"
Honeybunzy, 06 Septembre 2021

We had booked this hotel as it was a 4 star hotel. The girls on reception are courteous and polite but lacking guidance, as we were not informed the hotel restaurant is not open between Friday and Sunday. The facilities are not up to standard of a 4 star hotel, we had paper cups and wooden sticks for stirring drinks, there were no house keeping services, so our room was not cleaned on a daily basis or beds made up, we had to ask for clean towels, additional cups, coffee and tea. We only found out by accident that the restaurant was not open at weekends. They appear to have a staffing problem and try and pass it of due to COVID which is unacceptable now as you are paying for services you are not getting.

"Disappointing"
RomseyMac, 06 Septembre 2021

It is unfortunate that this hotel is continuing with ‘lockdown' standards of service even though restrictions have been lifted. There is no Housekeeping service at all meaning you do not have any room cleaning and changes of towels and top up of tea/coffee packs have to be collected at reception. You are left with 2 paper cups and wooden stirrers that again have to be replenished at reception. Without prior advice and nor whilst checking in we found out by accident that the restaurant does not provide food service on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, this covered 2 out of the 3 nights we stayed. Interestingly hot food is prepared and served to a large private group and contractors both staying at the hotel, this appeared unfair. This hotel is currently far from 4*, two at best. The only positive I would say is the staff, they are courteous and helpful but I have a suspicion that the hotel is struggling. If there is a restriction on service and facilities then surely clients should be advised and a reduction in rates to reflect this offered. We are regular Best Western customers and this hotels lets the brand down badly, we have also complained direct to BW and did raise the above with reception staff.

"Better than expected!"
R8553QOjoannefi, 29 Août 2021

At first glance the exterior is very off putting, but once you step into reception feels a lot more luxurious. Could do with having a bar facility. Breakfast was great & the staff attending the breakfast room were fantastic.

"Excellent Hotel with great staff"
172julianv, 24 Août 2021

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff at The Best Western Atlantic Hotel in Chelmsford. We eventually stayed on the 21st and 22nd of August 2021 having postponed our booking and reconfigured our rooms on two occasions from 2020! It is obvious that the hotel has good management as this is reflected in the professionalism of the staff. The food and service is excellent and the hotel itself is located a short walk from the centre of Chelmsford with its Cathedral, parks and shopping all within easy reach. Just turn left from the hotel and keep walking along New Street - you will see the Cathedral after a few minutes and the shopping precinct a short time later. There is plenty of parking at the hotel which you access via Brooke Street which is just off New Street. During our stay we visited RHS Hyde Hall which is well worth a visit especially during the summer. The Atlantic Hotel and its staff are a great credit to the Best Western Hotels company.

"A Combination of average and very poor"
Relax373794, 23 Août 2021

From the outside the hotel looks very poor! If you drive down the road outside looking for a 4-star Hotel then you will defiantly drive past this hotel without noticing it like I did as it looks very cheap and poor! I was extremely concerned when I finally found my way into the car park I had deep concerns considering the price we paid as we walked into reception. Reception was actually quite nice but I think this may have been more of a comparison to the very poor external to the building. Staff were very nice and the hotel did look clean Went for a drink in the bar area which looked a little neglected and tatty. It had a very cheap feel about it and had a more 3/2 star feel to it. Room was reasonably nice, clean and large however the King size bed I had was 2 x mattresses pushed together which meant there was a very uncomfortable beading that ran down the middle of the bed. Again I certainly wouldn't expect this in a 4 star hotel

"3 night with choir group"
399pennyl, 15 Août 2021

We were all very well looked after, especially by the 3 waitresses, Marta, Amino & Ross, who served us for breakfast and dinner, and also ran the bar. They were polite, friendly and most efficient and really made us feel welcome. Well done also to Tamas, the chef - they were all dealing with a large choir group + families, ranging in ages from 8months to nearly 80, and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you for making it a really happy stay with you.

"Fabulous stay"
daleyfamily2021, 08 Août 2021

The hotel was fabulous. The room was gigantic & clean. The staff were attentive & helpful. The location is fantastic, within walking distance of the town centre. Facilities at the hotel was brilliant, especially the breakfast service which provided great choices.

"Great staff"
DavidN4325, 04 Août 2021

We were staying for a long weekend with our choir while singing in the Cathedral. The hotel was obviously having staffing issues (like most of the hospitality industry) but the staff that were there worked incredibly hard and made us feel very welcome. In particular I'd like to mention Marta, Amino & Ross who were our waitresses and despite working long hours, always greeted us with a smile and couldn't have been more helpful. Tamas, the chef, get us well fed and Robin, the night-porter, even opened the bar for us when it should have been closed! Thank you staff - we really appreciated all your efforts!

"Great Trip"
JBL63, 02 Août 2021

Just back from a great few days. The Reception Staff Iryna and Toni were very helpful and correspondence was quick and easy. Marta, Amino & Ross looked after us brilliantly in the restaurant, nothing was too much trouble. The food cooked by Tamas was great and there was always plenty of seconds! Robin the night porter was also one of our favorites especially when he opened the bar for us. The bed was big and comfy although the z bed could have been a bit more stable it was a bit like a hammock when you laid on it. The room and bathroom was clean and tidy. We were advised on our arrival that there was no house keeping but we only had to ask at reception and supplies were replaced. eg water, tea coffee etc

"Best Western Should be Worst Western"
Claire T, 01 Août 2021

Drove down after work Friday evening for a wedding next day...late check in @01.00am Had to push past drunk guests messing about outside. Checked in and enquired about breakfast was told breakfast was included and ended at 9.30 which I thought a bit odd at a weekend. As we headed down the hall another quest accosted us to say don't open your window as she had someone trying to get in!! On first sights room looked okay but very basic not sure how this is a 4.star hotel unless a staff member has coloured in some extra stars! No Aircon just a fan...room stuffy...carpet under heater all ripped...toilet roll holder falling off the wall. No shelf in shower for shampoo etc. Door frames grubby...toilet bowl grubby below the water line. Free toiletries have never seen anything so small. Only 3 sachets of coffee.... Plus side...bed large and comfy. Nothing else to redeem this room..website mentioned room service but didn't appear to be any information in the room. Anyway early up next morning despite being so tired from work and travel so we didn't miss the 9.30.breakfast deadline. Got.to the restaurant and told got.to pay for breakfast when I questioned this waitress disappeared...I had to follow her to sort it out.....which it wasn't...asked for a manager and none available. Had we been told breakfast was not included would have stayed in bed and gone out later !! Fuming at this point. So no sleep and no breakfast... Spoke to someone in reception who eventually managed to sort out the breakfast issue for the next.day after my explaining over and over again and told us it ended at 10.30 not 9.30! Staff don't seem to know what they are doing and have little knowledge of the hotel. We still have no idea what the room cost was.... Had breakfast before we left...it was dry cold and overcooked....thankfully we didn't pay for it! Have given 2 stars for the BED and that alone.. Hotel has no redeeming features and staff have a lack of empathy towards not only myself but other customers too as we saw the.way others were dealt with. Will never go back here

"Great Service"
Z6275NKmarkh, 19 Juillet 2021

Fantastic service. The team were extremely attentive and helpful. The family room we stayed in was lovely with 2 floors, giving the adults and kids some separte space. Every request was fullfilled with a smile.

"Wonderful experience"
suzval2021, 13 Juillet 2021

We were there for the football , then work Monday , the hotel couldn't do enough for us , will definitely be going back , just made us feel so welcome , we also had 2 cars and it wasn't a problem . Thank you

"Short Stay on business"
thm0rris, 03 Juillet 2021

The hotel is very smart and comfortable. The beds are softer than in a lot of hotels, which made for a good night's sleep. Food in the adjacent Saporini's restaurant was of high quality and tasted great. All the staff were very friendly and attentive. The only negative, was the cooked breakfast option, where the items had clearly been left on a hot plate too long before serving resulting in tough bacon and dried up mushrooms and tomato. Since breakfast was free under my deal I couldn't complain too much about this, but I think the items in question should have been discarded and cooked fresh.

"great location"
lindawR489FK, 28 Juin 2021

location in centre with parking walking distance to shops, cathedral and central park. clean and welcoming no problems during stay, everything as described stayed executive king - no fridge which we had with other chain at this level but did not indicate there would be.

"Not the best"
BCKC826, 15 Juin 2021

Stayed for three nights, would have left after one but had to pre pay. Had a duplex room at £250 a night which represents awful value. No housekeeping at all during the stay which is odd considering the weekend before the London hotel we stayed in had full house keeping. Only found out after checking in (apparently there is something on the website but took 30 mins to find) that this hotel did not provide any house keeping at all. Room felt dirty , sofa had huge stain (hopefully coffee) on it. Table was grubby, carpets felt horrible under foot. Asked if we could turn the room temperature down and was advised to open sliding doors in the room. All well and good but that then lets in road noise. Sliding doors did not lock so room never secure. Bed linen was so rough it felt like sleeping in a hessian sack. Room was sparse and characterless. Bathroom was okay (except for broken toilet seat). Bar and restaurant only open in the evening. If new linen or towels are needed it says they would leave them outside your door in the corridor, not that hygienic or Covid safe. Bar and restaurant only open in the evening. Staff for nice.

"A Great Team"
jimsimmondsripon, 24 Mai 2021

The room was standard, tidy and clean. There is a large free car park at the hotel, which is a blessing in a city centre. From myfirst contact with the hotel, which was over a year ago, all staff members have been helpful, efficient, accommodating and very friendly. I will give a special shout out to Iryna, the manager, who was particularly helpful and a pleasure to deal with. Iryna's attitude was reflected throughout het team and I'm looking forward to returning to the Atlantic in the near future.

"Good customer service/ maintenance issues/ poor food"
emkerrr, 20 Février 2021

Stayed here for a week with work, room was spacious and very clean. Staff very friendly (even when we wait until 6am for breakfast) they also done our food early because the times we start/finish work. I think they could offer more than a cold food “bag to go” breakfast. Maybe a preordered breakfast sandwich/wrap/roll and deliver to your door. The breakfast bag to go are also left out on the table by reception so you need to get up hunt for a bag then go back to your room, there should be hooks on the doors and have them hung off the doors. I didn't enjoy the dinners, desserts were fab and filling but dinner always arrived cold because they deliver one at a time, the staff need a trolley to deliver one corridor of rooms at a time. I asked for no onions and mushrooms (i can't eat mushrooms) instead of coming to my room to say they can't remove items and offer me something else, they gave me the food with mushrooms and onions so couldn't eat it. Ordered a j20 apple and raspberry, food came with apple flavour she did let me know they ran out of the flavour I wanted, next day I ordered apple instead and got given orange without anyone letting me aware of what's in stock. No vegetarian/vegan/gluten free option on the menu which we needed. My bathroom door handle was completely broken so if I had closed it I would of been locked in because the handle wouldn't physically open so had to shower with the door open (which gets in the way of going in and out of the shower) Hair dryer cut out mid use. No sockets near the bed so had to plug phone/watch on the desk but it's awkward when your alarm goes off. The mirror is away from the desk so can't do hair/ makeup unless sitting on the floor. Big tv with sky and free parking.

"Well run hotel. "
725ianr, 30 Octobre 2020

Under these difficult circumstances, the Hotel staff were very attentive. The Hotel are very organised as you pre order your breakfast and timeslot when you check in,the best breakfast experience I have come across since the pandemic ,no more 45 minute waits.Well done to All of the staff.

"Great stay at the BW Chelmsford"
Lionheart B, 30 Octobre 2020

Another great stay at the BW Atlantic in Chelmsford. Great rooms, prices and unrivalled customer service. Delightful breakfast menu and service to match. The Best Western continues to be our first choice in Chelmsford

"Do not stay at this hotel"
insurance974, 20 Septembre 2020

Chelmsford is not blessed with many quality hotels, but this is one of the worst. It's old, the WIFI was rubbish, no plugs near the bed, loose taps in the bathroom. Thankfully the restaurant was closed as I am sure that would have been rubbish too. Check in at 3 pm and check out at 11 am? Really? And the knock on the door at 11.00 am by a sour-faced receptionist just about summed up this classless hotel. Stay somewhere else.

"Great customer service "
kentteam, 31 Août 2020

Stayed for 3 nights. I originally booked this hotel back in January via booking. Com So I just telephoned last week to check arrangements, foom ground floor etc.. I spoke to Irayna and so helpful she even saved me £60 By booking direct WITH BW online and cancelling the other booking, for exactly the same etc. Great staff nothing too much trouble, huge beds, massive tv Very modern sparking clean Superb hotel good value for money. The parking is free too which is fantastic. Super place to stay. Staff are all doing a marvellous job, well done Atlantic.

"Long Term Stay a Success"
L7189UCbrian, 22 Juin 2020

My company manufacturers PPE and core equipment for first responders. Our work required us to stay and work from the hotel long term - almost a full month. The Best Western Atlantic could not have been a better choice for my stay. They put me in the suite so I had enough room to live and work from "home" and it was a delight. Clean, comfortable, and quiet. Hotel staff made me feel like a true guest, anticipating my needs and graciously helping without fuss. Iryna went out of her way to make us productive and feel welcome. Silverware and plates were always offered and collected for our meals, sheets and bedding were exchanged regularly. Toni and Shane were also extremely helpful making sure my stay was comfortable and clean. Toni helped with my personal laundry as well as kept us well stocked in consumables (tea coffee milk, etc.) All around, each were friendly, kind, caring and helpful in a way that allowed my long term stay to be a valuable success.

"Very good"
Terzo290, 13 Juin 2020

This is one of the better Best Western hotels I've stayed in Modern feeling throughout the public areas and large spacious clean comfortable bedrooms. Parking bang outside the hotel and at no cost Reception staff very friendly and pleasant No other services open when I visited because of Covid. But there is an excellent Chinese takeaway opposite the hotel which i would highly recommend for your evening meal.

"Excellent customer service from Toni and Eleanor"
AnnieAries, 16 Mars 2020

I stayed recently for 2 nights at The Atlantic because I was away on business. I didn't know what it would be like however as soon as I arrived I had a very warm welcome from Toni. She was very helpful. My room was very warm and clean. What I particularly liked was the fact I had a radiator which I could switch on and off - such bliss to have the heating I want rather what is dictated by the hotel! Plenty of teabags, coffee and milk. In some hotels now, you are limited to 2 teabags and 2 coffee pouches! Also, there were a couple of biscuits and a bottle of still water each day. It also has a free car park - fantastic given how close the hotel is to the main city centre. I didn't have time to have breakfast so don't know what the restaurant was like - however the menu for breakfast and dinner looked very enticing. Toni gave me great directions for a walk into Chelmsford city centre itself - less than 10 minutes walk away. The city is pedestrianised as well so lovely to walk around after a day's walk. Eleanor was brilliant the next morning when I was checking out as I wanted to leave my luggage at the hotel to pick up later on after my day of work. I cannot praise Toni and Eleanor enough for their brilliant service - they are truly an asset not just to The Atlantic Hotel, but also to the whole Best Western brand. Thanks to you both and look forward to seeing you again when I stay at the hotel again.

"Superb customer service"
Gigginggirls, 15 Mars 2020

A lovely clean and comfortable hotel. Shortly after checking out my friend had a nasty fall on the street opposite, so we returned to the hotel. Eleanor on reception came to our assistance. She administered first aid and helped me get my friend to hospital. She showed amazing kindness and compassion and I cannot thank her enough. Truely amazing customer service.

"Tucked out of the way, but close to town centre"
PaulineH1217, 13 Mars 2020

Ok, so it doesn't look like you're driving into a top hotel.but once inside, it's stylish, quiet. Staff are very helpful. Italian restaurant was quiet, but I could quite happily eating the main course again, it was delicious.

"Excellent value"

Before I wrote this review I read some of the previous ones, and I am not sure they stayed in the same place. Yes, this is not The Savoy but it's not the same price. The room and hotel were spotless, the staff were attentive and helpful, the food was tasty What more do you want! If you need something, just ask. The receptionist couldn't have been more obliging. Thumbs up from me

from check in to check out our stay was great. very friendly and helpful staff nothing was too much trouble. rooms were spacious clean and tidy. the resturant was welcoming and the food very very nice and plentiful.. the waiting staff were on top of their game in customer service. the reception staff again were welcoming and always a welcoming smile. value for money at this hotel is top of the list. despite other reviews the car park IS EASY to find and plenty of room to park with just a short walk to check in...overall this is a city centre hotel but does not have the hustle and bustle like so many other city hotels .. so keep up the good work and customer service all you's at the Atlantic .. top marks

"To Stay or NOT to Stay.....That is the Question!"
777Catperson, 21 Février 2020

Read some bad reviews of this hotel before booking but when you read such corkers .you think to yourself 'Surely, this can't be true?' However, I can honestly say, in this case they really are! Where do I begin? We stayed for Bed & Breakfast 30/12/19 for one night. We were visiting Chelmsford for the first time to attend a wedding; we arrived just before noon. Our Sat-Nav took us to the front of the hotel but unable to direct us to the entrance for vehicles. Had no knowledge of the area or its roads so ended up driving around in circles & so stressed out. Gave in, asked for help & finally arrived. Man, who helped us mentioned it was a fact many people get lost due to the lack of clear signage. Receptionist was welcoming; though our room not yet ready said they would look after our luggage & we could book in later. Asked if we could have some tea; explaining the frustration & stress we'd suffered on our journey; she also confirmed it was, common for visitors; unfamiliar with the area. Knowing this; you'd think hotel would ensure correct & clear signage was in place but NO. this would be too easy! Said, regrettably, no tea as hotel was in ‘Holiday Hours' & restaurant closed. Offered us water but we declined as we had our own. Were disappointed with her reasons; simply because the restaurant, although closed was next door to the Reception Desk; even though our request was unusual; the hotel was so quiet. For those reasons; if I had been in her position, I would have used my discretion & made an exception for us by making tea myself. Returned to hotel 10.45 pm; after booking in, first impressions were initially, good (Rm.104).The bathroom appeared clean; sleek lines & ‘Waterfall' shower head seemed impressive. Sleeping area appeared clean, with good storage. No central heating, only a plug in heater which we switched on to warm the room but did not trust leaving it on while we slept. (Due to safety issues; even though, room was extremely cold all night). Made tea, watched TV before going to bed. In the bathroom I saw the bin had not been emptied; I noticed an empty D***x wrapper, along with various other items; I didn't rummage for obvious reasons! As it was really late, we decided not to make an issue of it! As I turned down the covers to get into bed I then, noticed...what can only be described as a hard, dry BOGEY stuck to sheet. I was Horrified! Called Reception but had no answer; even though I let it ring for over a minute. Was not prepared to go searching for the Receptionist or Night Porter (Despite being assured when we booked in there was a 24 hour Reception & if any problems to just call!). Had no choice but to scrape it off myself with a tissue & wipe the sheet with a cleansing wipe. Unable to sleep much at all; wondering what else could have been on the bedding!? Next morning, after just 2 hours sleep I put the issue to the back of my mind; I stupidly, only mentioned the unemptied bin. Housekeeper was at Reception; she apologised for 'Oversight'; which I accepted. (Though, on our way home, came to the conclusion, the Housekeeper had not in fact, changed the bedding prior to our arrival?) I looked forward to enjoying the Waterfall Shower but the experience would have been ten times better had the Head not required some serious cleaning/descaling; shower Jets were flowing all over the place. Assumed, this maybe the same or a similar situation in all of the rooms? Were also looking forward to breakfast; at 9.45 am we were greeted in the restaurant by a charming young lady. It was very quiet; we were the ONLY guests in there, later being joined by only one other. We had cereal but the jug of milk was not cold, straight from the fridge as it should be. Instead, it had been left on the bar since 8.30am (Allowing the growth of bacteria; there is a 30 minute rule for leaving fresh food out of the fridge). This was confirmed by the Manager in his reply to my letter that “It saves time!” (For the staff) She took our order; we chose the Full English breakfast. We had toast, tea & coffee; all of which were okay. (The menu stated to allow 15 minutes cooking time for ‘hot food choices' so waiting was not a problem for us). Although, on arrival this, ‘Freshly, Cooked Breakfast' was anything but. From its appearance you could easily see it had been sitting under a hot plate for at least 20-30 minutes. The bacon was like cardboard, fatty, & really tough to cut & chew. The beans were really dry & the sauce had completely disappeared & soaked right into the beans; the half Tomato presented was hard & also dry. The mushrooms had been cooked in oil with Thyme, which had all its stringy storks left with the mushrooms, they were horrid. In all the Full English breakfasts we have ever eaten; we've never had mushrooms cooked & served this way. When I mentioned this to the waitress; she said I should have told her & the chef would have prepared them plain; well, If we were made aware of this; then naturally, we would have asked for plain! What we couldn't understand was why the Chef did not cook our breakfasts FRESH? It stated clearly, in the menu a ‘15 minute' cooking time so why could they not be bothered to cook to order? As already stated, the restaurant was almost empty so really, not busy?! One can only presume there must be many guests staying; completely, unaware the bed linen on their beds may not have in fact, been changed prior to their arrival. In fact, on reading some other reviews; I am now aware that we're NOT the only guests to have experienced this. I therefore, seriously, believe this practice continues with the full knowledge & approval of the hotel's Management Team? I was informed by the Manager that if I'd reported it; we would have been upgraded to another room. Really?!..... So are they saying 'Bed linen' is NOT changed but if you report it you'll be given an ‘upgrade' to a similar room but one with clean bed linen? That's the 'Upgrade'? So it's not standard to have clean bedding on arrival? Unbelievable! I did explain to him in my first letter of complaint plus many subsequent emails, later; that we DID try to report it, without success as received no answer from the seemingly, unmanned 24hr Reception! Oh dear! It must be such a ‘Tedious chore' for the Housekeeping staff to keep changing the bedding every time guests ‘Check-Out'...even more so, since, the majority of guests only stay for 1-2 nights; a week at most? BUT simply for hygiene reasons alone; if nothing else, this practice is completely unacceptable .because as guests; ....we pay the hotel for the privilege of having a thoroughly clean room, including FRESH, clean bed linen prior to our arrival EVERY TIME! ....I feel sure that we also would have remained none the wiser if I had not noticed the revolting BOGEY on my sheet. Some people suffer with allergies? Who know what consequences that could mean for those guests? I wrote a polite but detailed letter to the Manager & he flatly refused to answer any of my concerns; stating 'He did not want to enter into a discussion with me'. He gave no assurances that he would investigate any of the issues I raised. In fact, he did not want to accept any responsibility whatsoever. He showed no compassion, empathy or even a duty of care towards us & offered only a 30% refund (£34.50) telling me 'That was generous, given the nature of my complaint'. Appalling! This meant we had still paid £80.50 for the 'privilege' of staying in a freezing cold room, with dirty bedding, a dirty, scaled up shower head, unemptied bin followed by a breakfast which I wouldn't serve to a dog! My only regret is that we never took any photographic evidence. If we had; I would have taken this much further. However, as a couple in our late 60's technology isn't our first thought & neither of us wanted to cause any trouble. Even though, the Best Western chain of hotels are all independently, owned and run, because of our experience during our stay at the Atlantic; we will NEVER stay in another one. It seems clear, the Management Team do not give a damn about their guests or the fact they may lose business in the future because of bad reviews they may receive. That's such a shame because if they just took some time out to permanently, address the issues/points guests raise with them; then this hotel could be a great place to stay in the future.

"Past its sell-by date - I won't be back."
From_the_Midlands65, 18 Février 2020

Arrived here late after a last-minute booking. A room was ready but they couldn't get the key card to work, although they spent what seemed like an unnecessary amount of time trying. I was informed that they were fully booked following my (weary) suggestion that another room might be found - there were very few cars in the car park so I found this hard to believe. More likely they just didn't have the rooms ready. I was then dispatched to wait in the lobby while they ' found' another room. This one was on the ground floor alongside the car park. Certainly 'clean and spacious' but absolutely FREEZING. Attempts to address this via a dubious-looking electrical unit in the corner (with no instructions) failed - it only blew out cold air. The possibility of a warming cup of coffee was thwarted as there were no pods for the coffee machine which anyway appeared to be broken. I passed on my complaint to the receptionist in the morning, mainly in terms of a 'heads up' for the next unwary guest. I was treated like a failed quality-control inspector, saying I could (and should) have arranged to get the heating fixed and the coffee machine replaced ( at midnight?!). Some kind of apology (however insincere) would have been welcome. I have stayed here several times over the last few years so my expectations were not set unreasonably high. I have been aware of a decline in standards over this time but this was a new low. My impression is that this link in Best Western's chain has become under-staffed and under-resourced. I won't be back.

Stayed at the hotel and I think we were lucky we were away from the main road, as even where we were, it was fairly noisy. Great location and easy to wander into town, lots to see and do nearby. Easy to find on satnav, takes you straight to the side entrance. Bed was comfy. Room a little chilly but we had a wall heater so we just had to keep cranking that up and had it on all night, I don't think our window was sealed very well and was rather drafty, but heater seemed to do the trick. Bathroom was ok, bit grubby in places around the bath seals and the shower was terrible, didn't really work and I just had a few trickles of water. Still, it was only for 2 nights. I used the gym next door whilst I stayed, good perk and that made up for a few grumbles in the room. Average hotel, I think you shouldn't expect too much and if like me you just needed a fairly cheep place to stay to put down your head, this is ok. Location is a big bonus.

"A very nice and clean hotel"

I stayed here for a few nights and I had a very pleasant stay. Reception were attentive and helpful, the room was clean and the rooms were quiet. It's very central to the city centre too. The furnishing is modern and the tv is modern enough with plenty of channels to choose from.

"Great Place to Stay"

I stayed here with my children while we visited friends. The room was clean and spacious and the beds were very comfortable. Breakfast was great especially for my two fussy little eaters. The staff were absolutely lovely to my children and made us all feel very welcome. Great place to stay... we will definitely be back!

"Good hotel and good staff"
WJG_75, 31 Janvier 2020

Stayed here a few times now and the hotel is good, it's not the ritz but then your not paying for the ritz either.. the staff are excellent, Lucia on reception was very helpful when I was checking in and also assisted some of my colleagues with directions etc.. around the City.

"Care Provider"

The room was well equipped with comfy chairs, VisitEssex hard-back book, plenty of floor space and a nice big window for fresh air. Plugs available for portable speakers and lots of tables and flat surfaces. The room serviced infirm parties as well as named guests and my hat goes off to the receptionist who remained subtle throughout the evening. Facilities 10/10 Unquestioning staff 10/10

"Large room"
Nell1947, 06 Janvier 2020

We stayed for a couple of nights over Xmas. Although similar to a Premier Inn in layout it has extras like larger rooms, more towels, toiletries etc. Large car park. A good breakfast was served too. Also we found the reception staff above average...friendly and informative. This hotel is a good location for station and town centre/shops. There are also small shops in the facility for snacks or forgotten toiletries!

Nice spacious room and decent shower. Restaurant is “Italian” but very average and I'm not too sure why they say it's Italian. I've given up on trying to get the tv to work. Good location for the university

"A great place for a business meeting"
SKarenN, 11 Décembre 2019

We had a business meeting that lasted over two days so we stayed at the property where the meeting was being held. Everything was to our liking and the staff was extremely helpful to meet all our needs.

"Very Poor!"
peterpX7315PK, 09 Décembre 2019

The hotel is generally clean and most of the staff are helpful. However, the room we were given was not good - the electric heater did not work properly, there was a gap around the window (caused by a missing window seal) which let in a cold draught, the curtains looked dirty, the lighting in the room was inadequate and the toilet seat was loose. We complained and were moved to another room. We returned to the hotel at 11.30 pm, hoping for a couple of drinks at the bar. Unfortunately, we were not able to. The night porter informed us that the bar closed at 11.00 pm and he could not serve us any drinks. Not very hospitable!! The quality of the buffet breakfast was quite poor. The food was lukewarm at best.

"Excellent"
CaseyB755, 08 Décembre 2019

Stayed in a executive room, and it certainly was that. Lovely decor, extremely clean and all the amenities and more that you could possibly need. Reception team very friendly and efficent, night porter was also friendly and no requests were a bother for him. Waitress staff where also lovely, and the cooked breakfast was well worth the money. Ample free parking on sight and a 10 minute stroll to the town centre. Would return and certainly recommend!

"Great stay - check out my tips for finding the hotel"
A2920LPkevinb, 03 Décembre 2019

Great stay but not the easiest hotel to find....especially when we arrived in the dark. Turn off New Street into Brook Street and then first left after 20 yards or so down an unnamed side road. The car park barrier is on your left. Brook Street and the side road to the hotel look like unlikely access roads to a hotel. We stayed in an Executive Room and it was very good...Sky Sports in the room and an excellent firm bed....one of the best I have slept in in a hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff. All good.

"Never again!"
rebb129, 01 Décembre 2019

This hotel has a horrible attitude to customer service. Straight after booking a room I realised I'd clicked the wrong date. I rang to ask if the booking could be changed to a closer date which was available at the same rate. I was told under no circumstances would this be changed even though the hotel wouldn't have lost out from the amendment. Clearly once a bank transaction is processed, the hotel has no consideration for customers.

Me and my wife stayed at this hotel during our vacation in England, The location is pretty convenient for our purpose. We came half an hour earlier, but the receptionist was very helpful and told us that it wasn't a problem and checked us in right away. It was a pleasant stay and it will not be the last time we stay there.

Stayed at the Atlantic over the weekend- very pleasant staff, reception and restaurant. Very helpful and friendly! the interior is very cozy. The room was clean, the bed is comfortable, I woke up well rested. Had lovely weekend there, met my friends, so 10 out of 10

"Sat nav does not take you there"

We were driving round Chelmsford trying to find the hotel with the postcode given and it took us to a dead end down Marconi Road. Eventually with tempers frayed we found it. Pleasant staff, room nice and breakfast lovely. My only complaint was the pillow but I am fussy.

"Unhelpful Staff / Disgusting Customer Service"
Rachel B, 04 Novembre 2019

Have not actually stayed at this hotel yet having booked for our wedding evening. I have asked three times if we could check in at 2pm instead of 3pm due to the fact we are getting married and need to be at our venue by 3pm. The hotel are not willing to accommodate this even though check in is only from 3pm-11pm as stated on their website and our wedding does not finish until midnight, how on earth will we check in at that time not to mention we have at 20 week old baby who's cot i would like to set up before our big day. Avoid at all costs, completely unreasonable hotel and i wish i had never booked here.

"Disappointing if you can find it"
Piggle_EH, 28 Octobre 2019

Very poor sign posting, receptionist quite disinterested. The heater in the room didn't work, the hotel clearly knew as there was a small spare heater in the cupboard. The high speed WiFi was slow. The television did not work. One of the pillow cases was stained.

We had difficulty at first finding the car park to the hotel but once we arrived, we were pleasantly surprised by the interior. It was absolutely beautiful! So modern, swanky and just gorgeous. Our room was huge - we weren't expecting it! The bed was enormous and so comfortable! We were completely satisfied with our stay.

"Unhelpful, difficult staff"
prr625, 23 Septembre 2019

I booked a room here for my elderly parents who were visiting for the weekend. We had a full day organised so didn't check into the hotel until 10pm on the Saturday. On arrival when I went to check them in, I was informed that my credit card had been declined and they had cancelled the room. No attempt was made by the staff to contact me, and when I queried this they told me that was their policy. After the initial worry that my parents wouldn't have anywhere to stay, they said that they could let them have the room but I would have to leave my card details to pay on check out as they couldn't take payment after 10pm. When I checked my online banking, the money had been taken for the room. When I spoke to the person on the desk in the morning, she would not listen to me or look at my statement I was showing her that the payment had been taken. Instead I had to pay again. I then had to reclaim the money from the first payment from my credit card company. Entirely dissatisfied with customer service. Also extensive cobwebs in room, complete with insects on them.

"Festival stop over"
nickym994, 16 Septembre 2019

Ok so the hotel itself was ok. The staff in reception were nice. We arrived early as we was out for the day couldn't have our room but checked in and reception kindly phoned for a cab for us. Walk to Hylands park slightly longer than informed both when we asked when booking and on web site. Room was ok but a lot of money for what you get, a lot cheaper out there! We arrived back at the hotel and planned on having a drink in the bar but it was shut! This was about 11.15 no one available to serve. We sat in the bar and a number of guest came back and were as shocked as we was that the bar was closed. Never experienced this in any hotel we have stayed in. Breakfast the following day was poor, staff looked as if they couldn't be bothered, no one informed us of how the buffet was set up. Food was just above average, I wouldn't eat there again but go into city centre just a short walk.

Booked this hotel 2 days before we travelled and I will say I was a little sceptical but I did not need to worry, our room was fantastic, we had the breakfast and it was very good, the location for us was also perfect, the check in was pain free and very good team behind the desk, we will certainly use this again, great value for the money we paid.

I very rarely write negative reviews but I must put pen to paper 4 Star really, I have stayed in 2 other best westerns this week that were 3 stars and leaves this one for dead , it is really that bad They advertised leisure facilities when I booked (which is a muscle gym only opposite) The staff all went for their tea together at 17.30 , the place might well have closed down for 25 mins When I went to pay for my food bill they tried to charge me for my 2 drinks I had paid by cash again At 19.00 I asked to speak to the Manager and was told that they were not here but I could email someone in the United States if I wanted and passed me a card I declined but said I would publish this instead I unfortunately have another night here, enjoy at your peril, I am sure there should be something nice about it but I haven't found it #ripoffbrittain

Although the exterior of the hotel is not a not a lot to be desired, the rooms were really clean, spacious and the staff were so friendly. Considering we were there for a wedding, (unlike many other hotels) they were really attentive and accommodating.

I stayed here for two weeks on training for work and the stay could not have been better! The service from restaurant staff was exemplary and the food during the stay had no complaints - always hot, tasted fresh. If youre looking for a hotel to stay around the area pick here, you will not be disappointed.

Comfortable one night stay. Very good location for train station and then its only a short trip to London (or Stratford in our case). Free parking in a secure and spacious area was a real bonus. Rates high for what it is as some have commented but with a large gig and London a short trip away it was a bargain compared to other economy hotels in Chelmsford and one third the price of anything in Stratford that night. Room was large and quiet .. we kept window open and you could hear the trains go by in the distance which was quite relaxing.

"Don't waste your money on breakfast!"
Guide41440852972, 01 Juin 2019

Location of hotel is hard to find. Satnav did not correspond to Post Code. Not enough signs on road showing where the entrance was. Decor to outside is awful but inside was much better. Breakfast was awful don't waste your money!

"Nearly Good"
Getaway60512637922, 27 Mai 2019

Potentially very good but let down by a couple of factors.. Cooling fan inadequate on a warm evening. Room was only surface clean.. Sheets had stains and coffee marks on furniture.. Would still recommend but would be so much better if the minor issues were fixed..

"Nice hotel in handy location"
rigidspence, 25 Mai 2019

Stayed here on business for 3 nights & opted for the executive room, so glad i did. Bed was massive & room was spacious. Everywhere was clean & tidy. Bathroom was ok, shower not very powerful & could've done with more toiletries. TV has all sports channels which was a bonus. Hotel is opposite a supermarket for anything you might need, and walking distance from chelmsford centre. Breakfast was nice, although sausages & coffee a bit of a let down. Overall a nice stay & would use this hotel again.

"Another great stay at a Best Western "
Mickeyj48, 09 Mai 2019

Friendly staff, nice rooms, great breakfast and close to the place I'll be working. Not too many local restaurants but its only a short walk to tge town centre where there are loads if good places to eat. Will certainly stay here again.

"Good room.. Terrible breakfast"
Barnkent, 30 Avril 2019

Very friendly reception and housekeeping staff, plenty of free parking right at the front of the hotel. Clean comfortable and modern room. Only gripe is the breakfast, it is awful. Stale bread, chef pokes it rolls eyes then puts it back out.. at the weekend a number of cooked items were rejected by other guests as being stale / old. If you stick to cereal its ok, otherwise not good.

"Not the best "
EmilyDTh, 27 Avril 2019

Although the hotel was clean and served a purpose, I felt it was not good value for £100 a night. It looked beautiful inside but didn't really live up to expectation. The huge shower only half worked, tv was very temperamental, buffet breakfast was non existent by 9am (although advertised until 9.30am) and no more was brought out, including coffee and drinks- I ended up asking the bar staff for a tap water. Another in our party was given the wrong room (ground floor was required for accessibility) and one of the party was then given an incredibly uncomfortable fold out bed. However, the rooms with stairs and living area were perfect for our wedding party, and overall would probably be fine for a one night stay.

"Great location, great staff, great service"
Camper01597957271, 26 Avril 2019

Best hotel experience my wife and I have had in many years. Excellent Italian restaurant. Super friendly service and attitude from all level of the team at Best Western. Easy and plentiful car parking.

"one week stay"
markandgillcohen, 18 Mars 2019

The staff were very good and tried to please in every way the rooms were great they even had sky tv. On arrival had to get the reception to come to my room to turn it on the instructions were not very good. bathroom was clean and water was hot shower was strong. Food not so great but o.k. all in all a good hotel in the centre of town. One disappointing factor I stay around the country a lot and have a rewards card for the best western group and because I stayed with a group the hotel would not put it onto my reward card apparently not the policy of this hotel not a happy bunny.

"Worst hotel stay for a while!"
crowbar1982, 27 Février 2019

Firstly the room was very dated, not the ones sold in the photos. I was given room 110 which is approximately 5 yeards from the reception. The ground floor window just happens to be right outside the main entrace and carpark which is where the designated smoking area is. Between 16:00-23:00 there were regularly smokers chatting and sitting on the window sill of my room, needless to say this was very noisey and irritating. The room itself had a joining room via the thinnest cheapest door possible and I could hear every conversation that went on in the adjacent room as well as the snoring all night. Tha bathroom was disgusting, very out dated, cracked wall tiles, many old holes with red plugs stick out, the fixed shower head reached my neck and I am 6'1. The shower curtain was supposed to be white but in reality the white gradually turned to Orange towards the bottom and the bath was chipped in at least a dozen places. I had only been in the room half an hour before i decided i neede to change rooms which was refused becuase there was no manager onsite to autorise a modern room!! A very unhelpful receptionist indeed. (the manager was there when i checked in and obviously doesnt have a contact number???) So, all of the above resulted in a very poor nights sleep and poor preparation for a days work. I will take my business elsewhere in Chelmsford and ensure my company avoid using them in future. Try Pontlands Park, Premier inn, The County for much better quality.

"Heart of the City"
ParisPals, 08 Février 2019

They say do not judge a book by its cover, the same could be said of this hotel. Very ordinary outside but all you would want from a hotel on the inside. We had a warm welcome at reception by Myriam & Carina and, although early, our room was ready. Considering the location, the room was quiet and was turned out excellently. The breakfast was excellent too with a wide choice. The staff are competent and helpful in equal measures and we would look no further than here if visiting Chelmsford again.

"Overnight stay"
Colettiee, 08 Février 2019

I didn't have any wild expectations when booking the hotel and this was confirmed upon arrival. It is a rather small and unimaginative spot from the outside, however, once inside I was smitten. Its a terrific little hotel and as a female traveling alone I'm always a little wary of new destinations. The staff were absolutely superb, they went out of their way to be nice and helpful. The room was spacious, clean and quiet. I will absolutely stay here again when I next visit Chelmsford.

"No empathy for cancellation reason. Make sure you are aware of the cancellation policy as different to other chains."
Grimmer2, 07 Février 2019

As a recent member of the BW loyalty scheme i have stayed here a few times with mixed results. However it is handy for business and I will be staying in Chelmsford (though not here again) even more going forward due to work commitments. I booked to stay for 7th Feb and I confess that as with other chains on a flexible booking, I thought that i would be able to cancel on the day up to 4pm. However not so! Unfortunately I experienced a fainting/black out episode on the late morning of my proposed travel. i was therefore, as one would expect, advised not to drive the 3.5 hours to Chelmsford. After ensuring I was okay, I called the hotel to explain this at 1300 on the day of travel and was matter of factly told by the receptionist that I would have to pay the full rate as I had not cancelled the night before. If you are booking with best western then be aware of this policy. I am not happy with the lack of empathy and willingness to accommodate an existing return customer and will not be staying at this hotel again as clearly there is no leeway given to cancellations due to health conditions and/or regardless of whether one is a member of the loyalty scheme or not.

Staff excellent.Location, Parking and Price all good. Room was clean and comfortable with plenty of room for cases. Bathroom clean and good shower -- though we did flood the place 1 st. morning. breakfast very good.

"Disgusting, Disgraceful, Horrifying!!! Do Not Stay Here!!!"
NicLMB2017, 04 Décembre 2018

I stayed here with my family on 28th November. My experience with this hotel will scar me for life! This hotel is disgusting, its dirty, the staff are rude, the breakfast is sour and the manager is worse, he ignores your calls however he will reply to emails but only to bribe you. This is by far the worse hotel I have very stayed in and I have stayed in hotels from the cheap to the very expensive across the world and never have I ever stayed in a hotel as dirty as this. The sheets are soiled with sweat and urine, the toilets are stained, the bedding does not get changed, the bedding is stained with the last guests make up and false eyelashes and the rooms are not cleaned. I felt physically sick when I saw the horrendous bed linen that this hotel expected myself and my husband to sleep on. We checked the bed linen in the 2 other rooms that we booked for our family and their sheets were the same, this is and was not a one off. This is happening throughout this hotel and if you have stayed here before and have not checked your bedding, the attached pictures may have been what you slept on/in. Yes disgusting and sickening. How can a hotel chain such as "The Best Western" allow its hotel to let rooms to guests in this state. This totally brings down this chain of hotels and as a manager I would of thought that Mr Santa-Rita would be ashamed of the service that we received at this hotel and during our stay and would have wanted to rectify this and offer a refund. However this was not the case, after following the complaints procedure by reporting this to the night staff and again in the morning to the day staff and then in writing to Mr Santa-Rita, I was advised in my last from him that the only way to discuss compensation was if I asked the other guests who we travelled with to remove their reviews that they had already placed on triadvisor, then and only then would he discuss a refund. This is bribery! I have since raised this with the Best Western customer services and have received no reply. This has left me no choice but to expose this hotel and how it allows its rooms to guest. I am also in talks with a well known news paper. I have attached the pictures for you to view, in my option DO NOT STAY HERE! This hotel does not even deserve a rating however for the purpose of tripadvisor I have had to give it one star TERRIBLE.

"Love it here"
msdrywhitewine, 04 Décembre 2018

Stayed for my birthday weekend. I was wished a happy birthday on check in and when we got to our room we had been given a free upgrade to a duplex. We dined out friday but after a great day birthday shopping we dined the the Sapori restaurant saturday. Omg the food is amazing. Would recommend just dining there if you are local. The staff are great. The whole hotel is fantastic. Cant wait to come back again in february for my hubbys birthday... love this hotel...

"weekend stay"
BJB2430, 02 Décembre 2018

Plus points for the hotel are location, parking and price. Now the other things: Hotel room ok, but bathroom smelt of damp and we had some damp patches around the bathroom. No handles or rails on bath or shower area - very dangerous and the shower rail was very rusty. Room in general was tired, but TV was good touch. Arrived on Friday afternoon, but was not told that there was a party on Saturday night with a loud disco! The aftermath was very noisy with loud guests shouting & making noise late into the early hours. Very little sleep obtained. The worst thing was that residents who wanted to eat in the hotel restaurant couldnt as it was closed for the private function - no mention of that either on arrival. It was a struggle to find any space in the restaurants in the town.

Nice, friendly, well run hotel with well appointed rooms that are clean and comfortable with everything that you need. I have stayed here a few times now but have only got round to doing a review. This hotel has everything you need a very close to town The the food is always well cooked and a breakfast that set you up for that day Thanks everyone there for making me so welcome

"Great stay"
robin211269, 29 Novembre 2018

Stayed last Sunday for a bed and breakfast package and was surprised how comfy the bed was and good night sleep I had. The restaurant is an authentic Italian restaurant with delicious food and helpful, friendly staff. The breakfast the next morning was also great with lots of variety!

"Excellent Hotel"
DayTrip35289491170, 29 Novembre 2018

Great hotel, very good location in walking distance from town centre and only 2 minutes from the train station. Friendly staff ,always happy to help you. The food in the restaurant is really realy good, big portions as well. The room was very clean and cosy.

"Excellent hotel"
Karl S, 27 Novembre 2018

The hotel was very easy to find. It is located within walking distance to the very nice city centre with some wonderful shops. The check-in was perfect, the receptionist at check-in was very polite - indeed all the reception staff spoke nicely and their very friendly, helpful and had a cheerful matter which was great to see. The room itself was very well maintained and very clean. The bed was extremely comfortable and the coffee and tea facilities were first class. The Satellite TV in the room was a very nice touch. We ate in the restaurant in the evening and indeed at breakfast. The evening menu offered us a magnificent choice of food, it arrived on our table and it was delicious. The service at the table was excellent and very friendly. Same at breakfast, first class choice of hot and cold food and staff in the restaurant very cheerful - especially for first thing in the morning and very pleasant. Checking out again, no problem at all. We were asked if we would return? Of course we would it is a great hotel with friendly helpful staff. Thank you to all the staff we came in contact with.

"Wonderful experience at Best Western Atlantic Hotel"
Elvinhas, 27 Novembre 2018

We were delighted with Best Western Atlantic Hotel. We had a quiet and amazing stay over there. We greatly enjoyed the kind reception by staff, the room service and the tasty food in the restaurant. Our room was beautiful and very cosy and comfortable. It was indeed a wonderful experience that made us feel relaxed, welcomed and at home.

"Best Western Chelmsford"
Allie Y, 23 Novembre 2018

Terrible service from the staff here which resulted in myself being charged double for my stay and the staff not willing to help me to rectify. Staff lied and stuck up for each other and were damn rude. Ontop of this my room was dirty and had cobwebs. I'd avoid this folks and stay somewhere different if I was you!! Terrible.

"Disappointing one-night stay"
Mike C, 15 Novembre 2018

Booked one night, last minute to visit a friend in the local hospice. Phoned ahead to explain it would be a late check in. Arrived just before midnight. The night receptionist was cheerful and handed over the key. When I tried to get the WiFi I kept getting DHCP errors. About the same time my wife couldn't get the TV to work. Went to reception and the receptionist was able to log me onto the WiFi network. He agreed to come and sort the TV, which he failed to resolve. When he went I got logged off the network again. Clearly the network strength was very bad in the room. I gave up on the WiFi even though I'd been travelling all day, 300 miles, and had lots of work emails to check. On examining the TV I found a Skybox behind the screen which was turned off. Turning it on gave us a signal but there was no remote control to work the box. The default channel was in the 900s. Has anyone worked the channels one by one using the box "controls"? Not too easy. On checking out the next morning I politely complained to the receptionist, asking for a discount on the £130 room rate. She apologised but said she couldn't do anything and I should contact her Regional General Manager, Ricardo Santa-Rita, and gave me his business card. They must get through his cards quite quickly. Two emails and still no reply from Ricardo Santa-Rita. Lives up to his reputation but not his LinkedIn profile: "Having worked in some of the leading Hotels in London, given me the experience, ability and confidence to take on any challenge within the Hospitality Industry. A versatile, analytical and hardworking individual with a practical Hands-on approach, who always perseveres to achieve the best results" I won't be recommending the Atlantic Hotel and I think I'll give the Rose and Crown a miss too.

"The “best” Best Western"
Dave W, 28 Octobre 2018

Very pleasantly surprised at this hotel, not a lover of Best Westerns, but this has peaked my interest, maybe I've just been unlucky in the past, the hotel, is stylish, well decorated, with a good vibe, it even has Sky tv in the rooms, staff are really good and very helpful, the in house restaurant is Italian and you can see the chefs slaving away and all the dishes seem prepared to order and very good. Breakfast is not so good terrible sausage, but if you ask the chef makes a mean omelette! Nice one Atlantic, I'll be back! - oh and for once the bar prices are good too !

"Weekend stay "
marshallcj, 21 Octobre 2018

We stayed for a weekend. Bed was very comfortable. The restaurant and bar staff were very pleasant and helpful Breakfast was good. Plenty of choice and good quality Very convenient to city centre with onsite parking

"Rude staff, overcharged, poor communication "
497sharang, 11 Octobre 2018

i think the title says it all. stayed here 2 nights, lovely rooms shame about the staff. they overcharged me £20 and take 2 weeks to reply back to my initial email (this is their Regional Manager aswel). he didnt address my queries and didnt even read my email properly. so i replied back as there was no mention of when i was going to receive a refund and a further 2 weeks later I still have no reply from Ricardo. Reception staff Meriem and Tanya also very unreasonable and inhuman like.

"Stayed for work"
Peter T, 08 Octobre 2018

Best hotel in Chelmsford, excellent rooms sky TV, nice Italian restaurant, great staff. No complaints. Stayed at many others in the area, this place is always my first choice. No pool but gym next door if that's your thing

"Nice hotel but does have issues"
Joanne405, 10 Septembre 2018

Stayed this past weekend. Nice room and lovely bed. Big bed and was comfy. Amazing shower which was a step in one. There was an issue with the television which my partner managed to sort but it wasnt easy at all. That was annoying. We had dinner in the restaurant and it was delicious. Friendly staff. However , we had breakfast in the morning and the staff were absolutely miserable !!!! The breakfast was pleasant. The sausages were extremely herby which wasnt that nice. The reception staff when we arrived were quite rude and uninterested . The reception staff the morning after were muxh nicer. Would stay again if back in the area. Btw, theres a lovely sandwhich shop opposite the hotel which is lovely !!

"Nice modern hotel and room lovely - shame about the bathroom !"
Martystravels, 31 Août 2018

This hotel is very modern and our room was lovely, comfy and spacious. Shame about the bathroom. The bath looked grubby, but it was badly stained, there wasn't a shower screen, but a badly mould stained shower curtain and only a tap fed shower. Consequently the water was very difficult to keep at a constant temperature and was either too hot, or then too cold and the jet of water wasn't very good for washing hair. There isn't a lift, so if you have an issue with stairs, then this hotel would not be advisable. They did ask us if we wanted help with our luggage, but we were ok. Wouldn't stay here again, shame companies just can't be bothered to update essential equipment.

"Worst service EVER!"
Canni123, 30 Août 2018

I was highly disappointed by the inadequate service we had received frankly throughout our whole experience with Best Western Atlantic. We initially made contact with the general store manager, in February via email stating our interesting in booking over 30 rooms (more than half the entire hotel) for our wedding party, including us the bride and groom. Within the same week I called the hotel and was greeted by a single 'hello', I was taken back by such hosting and asked if this was the Best Western hotel I was told 'yes'. I advised I would like to book three rooms and gave my name as a reference as i was told this is what i should do via email correspondence with the manager. The lady explained to me 'she is not allowed' to make this booking and that I would have to wait till Monday for when the manager is in. I raised this as a concern with the manager who apologized on her behalf stating 'they are currently short staffed and the staff member I had spoken to was in experienced and English was not her first language and therefore did not understand what i had asked'. Some weeks after I had asked if an earlier check in could be an option as my wedding was due to start at 3.00pm, I was told again due to having short staff this would not be an option as the cleaning team is small. I felt that despite having booked over half the hotel no compromise was attempted to be reached at all. Closer to the time, once nearly all my guest had booked their rooms and faced difficult communications with staff while trying to book (which i would find myself apologizing for) I revisited the hotel to speak with the manager face to face. I clearly stated my hesitations with how smoothly the day would run given our previous difficulties to which the manager explained she would not be on site the day of our arrival however if my guest 'showed patience' checking in would run smoothly. I felt that attempting to find a healthy balance was impossible at this stage. The manager stated that at breakfast my group booking would be sectioned off in the glass area and I advised her that many of my guest do not eat pork to which she confirmed there was other options available. I had also asked the manager whether cabs could be arranged for my guest to and from the hotel to the wedding venue and was told this was not issue which it later turned out to be. Our wedding day had fast arrived and some of our guest had attempted to check in before hand. These guest ended up arriving late to our wedding and shared this was due to the slow service they received at the reception from the one staff member there who was struggling to find their bookings despite being provided full names and reference numbers. We later learnt that typos in the way there names were saved onto the system caused confusion for this staff member despite providing reference numbers to which she shared are not of use. The next morning we learnt that our duplex room had only one coffee capsule and one bottle of water to share between two people. We were hugely disappointing with the choice of breakfast, vegetarian options were not on display but in the kitchen hidden and needed to be asked for. We had asked whether there was any more pastries as the basket was empty even before we was all seated to be told they had ran out and a section was not closed off for our party during breakfast as agreed. We later learned that a few of our guest had asked for room service to be told this wasn't available, after our guest had used the booklet to show the staff that it clearly states 24 hours room service, the staff replied 'oh you read that, we are short staffed I'm afraid'. Finally, once we had checked out it had come to light that a few items had gone missing from our party, I have emailed the manager twice since and have yet to received a response over a month later. The whole experience was beyond poor and despite the hotels clean and modern interlinear I would never recommend this hotel. I strongly feel that this dampened my wedding experience for both myself and my entire party. Furthermore I feel that as manager, she let down her staff and her guest, this booking was made months in advance and with some more staff members, including herself on site the experience could have been more enjoyable for all involved.

"Surprisingly good hotel"
Nadia S, 28 Août 2018

We were pleasantly surprised by this hotel as it was a lot nicer than it looked from outside. There was free parking and the car parking area was secure. Reception staff were helpful and polite and available at all hours. The hotel was clean and modern. The bed was comfortable with fresh smelling linen and a selection of pillows. There were more than the average number of TV channels to choose from and the TV was impressively big. The bathroom was very clean and the selection of complimentary toiletries was good quality. Room seemed very sound proof considering the hotel was on a main road and by the university campus. Would definitely recommend this hotel and will be staying there again.

"Nice hotel - staff bit sarcastic"
Fief22, 27 Août 2018

The actual hotel was nice enough however when we had our breakfast our coffee came out cold no steam coming out of the pot. We simply asked our waitress if we could have another hotter pot of coffee and her response was to say - yes but its cold because you've put cold milk in it. Even the table next to us couldn't stop laughing, we only put a splash of milk in! She bought out another pot for us and we made the coffee and sure enough even with milk in it was piping hot! And the final comment she made when giving us the new coffee was a sarcastic, shall I heat some milk up for you? It was laughable

"Well run hotel"
blackcat71975, 12 Août 2018

Stayed for 2 nights with family. Excellent rooms with king size beds, air con in room and good tv, bathroom facilities good and all aspects of the room well kept and clean. Had dinner on both nights excellent food and well presented. The staff make the hotel the success it is. Delightful to find such smiling helpful people. Well done. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

"Budget well positioned hotel"
Ian P, 06 Août 2018

This is a budget hote, well positioned fore the town centre with free parking and wi-fi. The rooms are basic and would be more help if they had a fridge and safe. no air con isn't great in these very hot nights and leaving the windows open isn't an option due to too much outside noise. For a budget price the beds are conforable with reasonable pillows and good selection of towels. Great selection of chanels on the TV with good selection of teas and coffees with a couple of free biscuits and free bottle of water.

"Average"
Tracker83, 28 Juillet 2018

Room was average, bathroom needed attention and difficult to gain help in the hotel. Breakfast was reasonable and parking available. Stay was booked through work but wouldn't stay again if I had the choice.

"Great!"
AndyTheLandyMan, 25 Juillet 2018

Very good, high quality hotel. Fitted out in New modern style, very clean and comfortable rooms. Loved the walk in shower! Reception staff very helpful with 2 minor problems I had, resetting TV box and supplying a loan plug adaptor for my shaver (the power fitting in the bathroom didn't work). Not the cheapest room I've ever stayed in, at £100 b&b, but very good quality.

"Good hotel with friendly staff"
Barbara S, 24 Juillet 2018

Arrived on a very hot day and staff sourced a room with effective air conditioning for us. Very friendly and helpful, with a clean large room. Breakfast well worth having, loved eggs florentine and others gave the full english rave reviews. We'll be back next time we need to visit Essex.

"Overpriced for the standard of rooms"
Kathryn H, 22 Juillet 2018

We booked the Best Western in Chelmsford because we had previously always had good experiences with this chain of hotels. The Atlantic Hotel doesn't look like much from the outside, but when you go into the reception area it seems modern and clean. Unfortunately when we arrived at the room, it looked tired, dated and in need of refurbishment. There were strange rust stains in the bath and stains on the carpet. This gave an overall feeling of lack of attention to detail in the cleaning of the room. The staff were friendly enough, although when we checked out we mentioned that the tv wasn't working and received the response that we should have tried turning it off and on again. There was no apology or sense that they really cared. The breakfast was fine and not expensive if you paid in advance, but nothing special. Overall I was disappointed with the Best Western and I felt that for £90 plus breakfast on top, the quality and cleanliness of the room should have been better.

"Great ambience, relaxing stay."
jujitman100, 20 Juillet 2018

Stayed for the first time on business. Well above the average for a Best Western in terms of decor, room quality and professional staff. Restaurant service and quality excellent, in room A/C a bit noisy but great stay overall but no real issues. The executive rooms have sky so makes the stay a little more interesting. I will definitely be staying again on business / possibly leisure so thanks.

"4 night stay "
jochg2016, 27 Juin 2018

Stayed here for 4 nights due to work. Good standard of hotel. Large bedrooms. Bathroom equipped with excellent power shower. Breakfast offered varied cooked and continental breakfast choices. Choices for those wanting a healthy breakfast. Slight niggle...(only slight..) was the 2 ceiling light bulbs Not working and the bedside lights not illuminating either.

"Overnight stay"
BillR117, 10 Juin 2018

We stayed here last night on a visit to Chelmsford for a party, have to say the bed was excellent big and comfy, handy for town centre too. Missed breakfast so can't comment on it. Chelmsford is a very nice city.

"Nice rooms"
Sadie W, 06 Juin 2018

The room was lovely, nicely decorated, very clean, great size tv, massive bed! The shower was wonderful. I also like the way the corridors were decorated, and the staff were generally quite friendly. Bit of a downfall was that we had to pay £50 holding fee for the room. I was here on business so not expecting to pay anything as it was paid in advice, but obviously paid happily. I do understand the need for this policy, however I do not feel it is fair that we weren't told in advance, there was nothing in the email confirmation about it, so one of my colleagues didn't have a card with her! So we had pay for her! Bit irritating as now my account is short and from what I can tell on these reviews, I won't get it back for 28 days. As I said, I totally understand the policy, I just feel like the guests should be better informed before they stay. Restaurant was nicely decorated with a nice atmosphere, breakfast was ok. The rooms were the high point.

"Great helpful staff"
cis0luti0ns, 05 Juin 2018

I have been staying here for best part of a year and the thing that sets it apart from other places is the staff. Everyone is so helpful and attentive. Ashley and Myriam on reception are great. Rosita, Marta, Amina and Adam in the restaurant are so good. Even the staff in the kitchen are fantastic (Andrea). The rooms are good and the location is fantastic for access to the city centre. I have tried a number of hotels in Chelmsford but always stay here if I can. Oh, by the way the food in the restaurant is awesome, especially the seafood dishes.

"Excellent hotel "
lotus3770, 19 Mai 2018

Lovely hotel that is well placed for Chelmsford city centre with ample parking, with free use of the Absolute gym next door which is excellent. The hotel is well run with competent and attentive staff. The food offerings are very good and offer good value for money, breakfast is of a very good standard. The rooms are a good size, very clean and very well appointed, large flat screen tv, coffee machine, iron etc. Thank you I will be returning when in Chelmsford.

"Lovely Italian restaraunt. "
Ali G, 16 Mai 2018

The restaraunt staff are some of the nicest ive come accross and i travel for business weekly. Great authentic food cooked to order by cheerful chefs who sing as they cook. Top manager too. Very helpful and will go out of his way to make sure your stay is enjoyable.

"Another good stay for our reunion weekend"
ElhamValleyMan, 14 Mai 2018

My group has now stayed at this hotel four times in the last six years. On all occasions the staff have looked after us very well and have been very helpful and accommodating to our requests. I have just read a couple of negative reviews and I have to strongly disagree with the sentiments expressed. On average we have between 50 and 60 people staying and not one of them has ever complained. The majority of the staff are not English and many people regard it as being the better for that. The Manageress and the lady in charge of the restaurant are both outstanding and speak perfect English. The food and service were excellent as were the quality of the rooms. I can do nothing but recommend this property,

"Worst place I've ever stayed."
mufcalways, 12 Mai 2018

Never again would I stay at this hotel. I'm not normally one to complain but this stay was awful. The staff speak very little English and are blunt and rude. The room was dirty with the bathroom having hand marks all over the mirror which wiped off easily with a wipe. The showers are poor and very cheap. But the worst part was to come when we sat down for breakfast. I've never in my life attempted to eat such poor quality food. I don't expect the best but it really wasn't edible. The sausages were that bad you need a steak knife to cut through them and quite frankly it was all awful. On a plus side the best part about my stay was checking out and leaving the hotel as quick as possible.

"Good experience"
Liz M, 05 Mai 2018

Friendly, welcoming staff members, room was comfortable and clean, we ordered a full English for breakfast which was served by polite waiting staff. Location was good ample parking WiFi was ok .... overall an enjoyable stay thank you

"A Reunion with Friends"
carol700, 01 Mai 2018

The staff were all pleasant and friendly. The breakfasts were well presented, and I particularly enjoyed the excellent croissants. A glorious chocolate cake for an evening treat will be remembered for a long time! The hotel room was well furnished and beautifully clean. The reception area and the dining room had a positive style to welcome guests. Lovely to see framed photographs referring to Marconi and Chelmsford.

"Good central location"
cricketfan141, 23 Avril 2018

Nice very clean room with a huge comfy bed. Staff were friendly and helpful. I'd stay here again if I'm in the area. It was a little awkward finding the entrance - perhaps a detailed site map would help? Breakfast choice was extensive and no quibbling when I asked for additional pot of tea. Good to have bottles of water on offer in the hot weather.

"Central Location, Nice Rooms and Modern Interior."
RichardF38, 03 Avril 2018

We went on an impromptu 'adventure' and got it on last-minute.....the hotel is very central to the city centre although finding the hotel entrance can be a tad troublesome...Follow the instructions they send, not your sat-nav!! Present staff, very clean and the rooms are very nice. Good bar which stays open late for guests. A nice hotel.

"Pre Authorisation Anyone?"
Theresa M, 03 Avril 2018

We arrived at the hotel later than expected ,through no fault of our own, as our flight had been delayed. My husband kept the hotel updated at regular intervals regarding our delay and each time the issue of pre authorisation came up - i.e. we need to take money from your credit card in case you do not turn up - each time we explained that we would keep them informed, that they had our credit card details already and that we were not willing to pre authorise any amount. We eventually got on our way and received a call from the receptionist at around 10.30pm, who asked if we were definitely coming as it was getting late, I said we were 15mins away - she informed me she was getting to the end of her shift and wanted to cash up and go home but would wait and would hold our booking. The issue of pre authorisation came up again, despite assurance that we were on our way and again, we declined. We arrived at the hotel weary, so very weary and were greeted politely by the receptionist, however, after the niceties were over the issue of pre authorisation came up again! The receptionist, albeit very polite was insistent that we pay this pre authorisation of £125.00 in case we had extra expenditure at the hotel, so in effect we would be paying “just in case” we had a drink/food/room service. We assured her that we would pay cash (which is what we would normally do), if we wanted any extras. She assured us, that the £125.00 would not be incurred. Nowhere, that I can find, on the hotel's website does it mention taking pre authorisation for anything other than reservations. (see terms and conditions Best Western Atlantic Hotel Chelmsford) The next day, Saturday, a raucous group of lads presumably on an away day of some sort, checked in to the hotel and proceeded to “Oi Oi!” and generally swear, shout and bang doors, up and down the corridor and decide they were not “gonna fight tonight” whilst getting ready for their night out and on their return at @ 3.00am continued to bang doors shout up and down the corridor and generally disturb other paying guests sleep. It was very distressing. The porter was informed, he called the police, they didn't come out and eventually it quietened down. On check out we complained, along with other guests, about the disturbance of the night before and the receptionist was sympathetic..... but hey, guess what? there was the pre authorisation amount of £125.00 on our bill plus payment for the three nights stay. We asked for the preauthorisation money of £125.00 to be refunded with immediate effect; we were informed it wouldn't be in our account until 3 days later! It should never have been charged in the first place! We didn't spend anything in the hotel, we didn't do a runner(clearly) and we did not damage the room. We had no option but to succumb - she was not going to give us our money back and kept repeating it was our responsibility to obtain it from our bank! I have never stayed in a hotel so obsessed with getting your money or, with regard to the behaviour of unruly guests, felt as vulnerable. Guests comfort and safety should be priority.

"Overnight stay"
Karl S, 02 Avril 2018

The room was decorated lovely. It was a King-size Executive room. I certainly looked great and was very comfortable. All the common areas are very clean and tidy. The location was fantastic, just a 5 minute walk to town or even the local main train line station was about the same distance. All the staff, check-in and restaurant staff were some happy and friendly. I would have no hesitation to stay here again and highly recommend this 4 star hotel.

"Disappointing "
Ladykaz, 25 Mars 2018

Room like a prison cell, rude unhelpful staff, bland overpriced dinner and no breakfast provided despite having paid for it. Easily the worst hotel experience I have had in this price bracket. I was put in a room with tiny windows, told hotel was fully booked for a function and only on further asking was I moved to a room with windows (and a broken heating system.) Refused breakfast next morning as they had to get ready for the function mentioned the evening before and had packed up early to prepare for it. All made worse by the rude and sarcastic receptionist who made no apology or explanation other than to go on yet again about the mystery function that had everyone so busy. This was my first and last visit.

"Great hotel"
Debbie S, 17 Mars 2018

What a lovely find! Great friendly check in Great hotel with lovely clean rooms. Bathroom is lovely with large walk in shower and again extremely clean! We ate in their Italian restaurant and the food was stunning. I can't recommend this highly enough. Great wine list too - we sampled 4 bottles and all were great, especially the 4th one ?? Marta who served us was amazing! She looked after us really well. Food was Superb! We originally planned to spend a night in Chelmsford but didn't leave the hotel. Would highly recommend a stay here.

"Small hotel, Rooms are great and clean."
Jacq41, 17 Mars 2018

This hotel is a small only two levels. Very close to Chelmsford to walk. Rooms are clean, great shower, wifi, plenty of tea and coffee. What makes it so special is the staff. Thank you Ricardo, Myrian, Marta, Charlotte, Chef and everyone. Too many to mention. The food is amazing and the staff cannot do enough for you. I took a large group there and everyone complimented the staff on how responsive they were to there needs and food requests. Thank you for making our trip. We really appreciate it and will be back. Thank you all and Chef for the beautiful meals.

"Distinctly average"
Joanne K, 15 Mars 2018

Staff here were friendly and tge breakfast was good. Hotel about a 15 minute walk from the station and near the University. The room was OK but not the cleanest. Cups were dirty and bathroom not up to scratch. Apart from that room ok but was noisy in the early morning.

"Terrible customer service "
Estelle M, 01 Mars 2018

Not more to say, than above receptionist rude. Manager even worse, security well what can I say apart from awful. If you're someone who appreciate good customer don't stay here. I've complained about them before and nothing was done.

"Charged Twice!"
Chalkyjohnson, 16 Février 2018

Stayed here for wedding. Had two rooms booked. Whilst hotel facilities were good. Have been charged twice for room and hotel reception staff are rude and unhelpful, suggesting I needed to prove this. Would not recommend this based on staff attitude alone

"Clean and comfy but poor breakfast"
alipaulwalsall, 11 Février 2018

The rooms are great in that they are clean and comfy - great shower plenty of tea and coffee, the room we had 119 had a very poor fitting window causing a draught and lots of noise from the traffic and passers by which is why the score is low. The breakfast was also very poor - poorly cooked - first day undercooked bacon thrown in the heated dishes anyhow, tinned mushrooms, what should have been scrambled egg - looked awful, tomatoes overcooked no hash browns. second day breakfast was served - the left over bacon appeared to have been reheated - rock hard certainly not freshly grilled, reheated tomatoes from previous day and the attempt at scrambled egg - well cold and over cooked , the black pudding was also cold and not cooked properly. coffee luke warm each day. they weren't rushed off there feet 5 on Saturday morning to cook for and just a few more on the Sunday - we were the only ones in on the first morning !Need to train the chef !!! waitresses were really nice.get these things right you would have got 5 !

"Weekend away"
CloudyPinkLemonade, 27 Janvier 2018

This hotel is perfectly located in the centre of Chelmsford. Unlike the Premier Inn (which we also considered), this hotel has a free car park, which was a vital aspect for us as we were travelling to Chelmsford by car and were getting there quite late on a Friday night. The access to the car park would've been easier to find if we had followed the road signs instead of relying on our sat nav, which took us to a different road. Once inside the hotel, the check-in was easy an efficient. We paid for breakfast at the reception as this was cheaper than paying in the morning (and cheaper than what we'd seen online) and this turned out to be a great idea as the buffet breakfast on both mornings was varied and plentiful. The room was a good size, clean and well equipped. Although the bathroom was not very big, the shower was big and powerful. We didn't interact much with the staff as we were out most of the day, but the few interactions we had were nice and friendly.

"Better on the inside"
josiekat777, 18 Janvier 2018

Having read some the reviews on this site I was a bit sceptical to book the Atlantic Hotel, but now that I have stayed, I have to say that some people are impossible to please or they are talking about a complete different hotel. I booked an Executive Room as my partner wanted to watch the football at the weekend and we were told these rooms are the only ones that come with the sports channels. The room was a bit cold on arrival as the heating wasn't working properly, but the nice reception manager quickly sorted out a portable heater for our room, which only took a few moments to warm up the room. I personally enjoyed the espresso coffee machine very much. There were only a couple of coffee capsules provided, but the friendly receptionist gave us a handful more when we asked. I have to say everyone we dealt with was very pleasant and genuine in their helpfulness, from the receptionists on arrival and departure, to the restaurant staff at breakfast time, to the housekeeper in our corridor. We didn't eat in the Italian restaurant but breakfast in the mornings was very good. One day it was plated service and the next day it was a buffet, although we were still able to order pancakes and a small omelette to be cooked to order. The location of the hotel is ideal to be away from the traffic and noise of the town centre, but still close enough to be only about 5 minute walk from all the shops and restaurants. After our fabulous experience, I would have no hesitation booking this hotel again.

"Great staff!"
DavidT0123, 15 Janvier 2018

I have been a regular at The Atlantic for a couple of years. I have never had a bad stay and without doubt, the staff both in reception and in the bar/restaurant have always been outstanding. I have to commend them by name as they have made me feel part of the family - Ashley, Rosita, Amina, Marta, Massimo, Tania, Miriam, Eleanor and the rest of the gang! I have enjoyed the banter, jokes and even some of the music at the bar!!

"Do not stay at The Atlantic hotel!!!"
Dazzadj, 10 Janvier 2018

Do not stay at The Atlantic hotel!!! We stayed here the weekend before Xmas and were asked for a card to swipe in case we made any charges to the room as a “holding deposit”. Although in the same breath were told the bar and restaurant were closed for a private Xmas party. No pin or signature was requested. The next day we checked out and where told the hold would be taken off the card. When we checked our account £50 had been taken. For 2 weeks we chased the both hotel and bank. The hotel informed us that it took 3 working days to be credited back. So £50 less over the Xmas period was not ideal as we are both get paid every 4 weeks and were relying on that money for last minute Xmas presents and Xmas day food. 3 working days came and went still no money. The rude lady on reception (bad customer service) kept saying it's been released call the bank nothing we can 3 weeks came and went still no money. So we went into the bank where they called the hotels bank and were informed it takes 28 days!!!. So not only did the hotel take £50 from our account, but they lied about when we would get the money back and will be holding onto our money for another 2 weeks. Why even take a “ holding deposit” if we can't charge anything to the room in the first place and why keep fobbing us off saying nothing to do with them. The Atlantic Hotel are liars and thief's!!!

"A disappointing stay"
benno09, 05 Janvier 2018

We waited 20 minutes at reception to check in due to a large group check in, our room was nice but did not reflect the near £150 we paid for it, breakfast was not included and we were quoted £ 50 for 2 breakfasts in addition. Our room was cold and in the early hours tried to get the heating to work with no success so resorted to sleeping in our jackets. The Chelmsford area was nice and having sky in the room was good too. we expected to pay extra as it was new years eve, but feel this hotel was very overpriced and not value for money.

"dont waste your money"
Macleximus, 03 Janvier 2018

The reception manager has no people skills what so ever, let alone any idea how to sort an issue out. Management have been notified on 23rd December and I am still awaiting a response. The room next to ours was extremely loud and the beds are not the most comfortable.

"Not the best experience"
560pixie, 01 Janvier 2018

We had a family wedding to attend locally and prior to booking 8 rooms several months ago, we requested an early check in to allow some of the party to change also get young children ready etc, When we called the hotel in the morning of our stay to confirm the early check in we were told that there were no notes on the bookings in relation to checking in, and we could not check in till 3pm........Great if the wedding takes place at 2pm. This made things awkward for some. Rooms (all the rooms we had booked) were freezing upon arrival (around 4pm) When we arrived back at the hotel around half past midnight there was no facility to get into reception (room keys don't open main entrance) and despite ringing doorbell and knocking several times we were left standing outside for 10 minutes or so, fortunately it was not raining. It was not until we phoned reception that someone come to let us in. Also bearing in mind this was also New Years Eve, the bar/restaurant was closed. On a positive note, the beds were comfortable and the rooms were clean with facilities you come to expect for around £100 per night, breakfast was adequate.

"Fantastic! - Room 238"
Casey M, 31 Décembre 2017

Stayed here on a Saturday night throughout December with my partner. Car park was a little difficult to find, but we blamed that on the silly sat nav woman! Friendly welcome on arrival, and nothing was too much bother for the reception staff, Check in was efficient and quick. We where given the key to room 238 and was directed to our room. Bed Was very big, Clean and had everything we needed, including Sky Sports! - partner was happy for the evening to say the least. We didn't dine at the hotel in the evening as they had a Christmas party on, but it is only a 10 min walk into the centre. However we did have breakfast in the morning, and it was to die for, i liked the idea of having an unlimited hot buffet for breakfast, could go up for as much food as you like, always a bonus before a long day of shopping. Restaurant staff where lovely and attentive, but not irritating. As mentioned above, they did have a xmas party during our stay, yes there was music, which stopped dead on midnight, but we enjoyed a sing song in our room, it is Christmas after all! A friendly goodbye on checkout. Will Certainly be back again!

"Unfriendly Reception Staff & Too Hot"
The_Gapster, 23 Décembre 2017

Stayed at this hotel on business and found the hotel to be fairly soulless and overall very average. Reception staff looked like they hated their jobs and weren't very friendly at all. Bar staff better but I still felt like I was an inconvenience to them. Room far too hot and the restaurant unbearably hot at breakfast, where I had average scrambled egg complete with the occasional crunch of egg shell and poor smoked salmon. Coffee was good but I was too hot to drink it. Far too many better options in Chelmsford so won't be returning.

"Another great stay"
CouchSurfer4, 23 Décembre 2017

I stayed in an Executive Room on a Saturday night in December. There was a Christmas party with music in the restaurant that evening, but that didn't bother me as I could barely hear the music from my room and by the time I went to bed (shortly after midnight), the music had stopped and people were leaving the premises. As with previous experiences, my stay was very pleasant. Check-in and check-out were prompt and easy. The staff are always very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and equipped with everything I needed and more. My favourite things in this hotel (and particularly in the executive rooms) are the super-comfy beds, the powerful rainfall showers and the Nespresso coffee machines. I will definitely keep coming to this hotel.

"Appalling customer service"
Pete C, 22 Décembre 2017

I had booked a room on Friday 22 Dec but unfortunately subsequently found out that i could not attend as I had to go to hospital for an urgent operation. I called their office team to explain the situation and asked whether two friends who were over from the USA could take the room instead. They kindly confirmed that the could do so over the phone. They didn't send me an email or explain that anything further was required, other than my friend's name. On arriving at the hotel that evening, they were told that that was not the case. I spoke with the receptionist and she was adamant that she had spoken with her manager (who was unavailable for me to speak with) and that nothing could be done. This is terrible customer service and was very embarrassing, and displayed a chronic lack of empathy. I will never stay at a BW hotel again.

"Cant understand the negative reviews"
BoozyP, 20 Décembre 2017

My husband and I stayed here following a night out in Chelmsford and can't fault the service. We were greeted very pleasantly upon arrival. The room was clean, spacious and had everything we needed. Breakfast was really good too. Would definitely stay here again as not much more than the premier Inn and has a nicer feel.

"Comfy beds and very clean- but otherwise very average"
LisaBaxt71, 18 Décembre 2017

We arrived having spent 10 mins trying to find the car park, to be greeted by a bright and modern reception area. Checking in was straightforward and we went up to our room. The room was clean and warm, with a large walk in shower, toiletries and tea and coffee making facilities. We freshened up and went down to the bar. The attached resturant was being used for a christmas party - so the bar consisted of 6 seats. We ordered wine - and was given a warm glass. we noticed this was the norm with others complaining. When we returned from our night out, and went to bed, there was a continual loud banging and clicking noise coming from the heater. It woke me and my husband on a number of occasions, The bed was exceptionally comfortable with warm and clean bedding, Breakfast was poor, after having to convince the receptionist that i had paid for it as a part of my deal, we had to wait 10 minutes for bacon and sausages, was not offered eggs (others were we found out later) and whilst the staff were polite and helpful it felt there was a lack of order in the kitchen. This could have been due to the large party of wedding guests - but it seemed very disorganised. The waitresses were very keen to remove dirty plates - which was a little annoying when you got up to get more juice etc to come back and find the remainder of breakfast you were planning to consume was gone! so - all in all, average, Had we had a better nights sleep and had the breakfast been more organised - it would have been a good 4.

"A farce at check in and it got worse...."
L217NGmartind, 18 Décembre 2017

Surly unhelpful staff at reception - 25 minutes to check in as room wasn't ready, bar not open so sat in reception as later guests arriving were seen straight to their rooms?? Xmas party for the 3rd year running - no cocktails, limited staff, 2.5 hours for the meal. ushered out immediately at 12 - rude night porter and told if we wanted a drink as residents we would have to sit in the cold reception area - a farce, was never like it before. what happened?

"Comfortable and friendly staff"
Claire L, 17 Décembre 2017

I regularly travel into Chelmsford for work and always book this hotel if it's available. While it can be a bit difficult to find on your first visit (as my colleague discovered - don't always trust your sat nav!) Inside it is a clean, modern and comfortable hotel (not sure about the brown colour scheme in the reception area though!). The reception and cleaning staff are helpful and friendly - always happy to give me extra tea and coffee supplies and tips for places go to in town if I don't fancy eating in the on site Italian restaurant. The rooms are spacious and clean. Lovely big, comfortable bed and a good powerful shower. The TVs are huge and there's Sky Sports in the more expensive rooms, which is a nice bonus if you stay in one (they also have a coffee machine). Overall, I'd say it's good value for money for being right in the centre of Chelmsford town and would recommend for anyone doing business there or if you fancy a shop.

"Would not go back"
tankey21, 12 Décembre 2017

We come to Chelmford for work every month for a couple of nights a group of us and we get put in to different hotels well we was put in this one as close to town. When walked in we had to put a card and £50 holding dep down on each room even know they had our works card on the account. The rooms were small and my one walked in and the door was open and window was as well. The sky tv was a nice touch but wanted to have a nice soak in the bath after drivering for hours and also then work wanted to relax but the push down plug did not work like it was meant to so had to have a shower in stead. The bed was hard and had a stain on the cover the main heater did not work had a small black noise one. After a bad nights sleep we had breakfast it was a help your self and heated in units the egg ok the sausages tasted bad and not nice we had one hash brown put on our plate and it was cold as well. I ask the others about there room and the food and we all said the same not great cold small and will not go back there When I checked out I spoken to the lady on the desk she said sorry I let them know and that was it.

"Great town centre location"
Steffi2804, 10 Décembre 2017

Great hotel, much nicer inside than the outside would suggest. Modern throughout, bedrooms seem to have been refurbished very recently. Warm, friendly and very attentive staff in every department. The tuna steak in their 'Sapori' restaurant needs a special mention, best tuna steak I ever had!! I would come back just for that! All in all a great place in a very convenient location, just 5 minutes from the town centre.

"Wow amazing hotel"
sue b, 10 Décembre 2017

Stayed here with my best friend so we could do xmas shopping. Not been here for ages and from walking through the door until we left 2 days later it was amazing. The room was warm and welcoming and had all the facilites you would expect and the extra pillows we requested on booking were already provided. The receptionist asked if we needed local info or directions which would be helpful but we had stayed before. We dined out the 1st night but after a wonderful breakfast decided to dine in 2nd night and then wish we had dined both nights. The choices made it hard to decide but we both ordered different things so we could try each others. What else can i say except a huge thankyou for making our girlie weekend the most perfect one. We will be back for the january sales..

"I find a very good Staff. They realy want yo help you and make your stay confortable."
marcocecca4815, 07 Décembre 2017

Special thanks to reception team to Miriam, Ashley and Tania. Also I want to mentioned the restaurant team, Marta, Rosita and Amina. You can find an Italien restaurant which offer fresh home made and high quality meals. They working together to provide great performance.

"Fabulous !"
Gheorghe-Stefan, 07 Décembre 2017

Always come back here anytime I take a trip to Chelmsford. Been offered a top floor executive room which was incredibly comfortable with all the facilities needed ! Definitely recommend the restaurant to taste the real Italian cuisine! Was A very pleasant experience for me ! Thank you.

"If you are thinking of staying here - think again"
panda966, 06 Décembre 2017

The hotel is noisy, the staff could not care less and the management even less. We did not get any sleep because of parties in the hotel. We complained to the staff and they did nothing and then complained to the management and we have yet to receive a response. There is no customer care

"Safety and Security"
Nick S, 05 Décembre 2017

Part of my family stayed over in this hotel last week and one of the nights midweek we all dined in the Sapori restaurant which wasn't bad and the service of the restaurant staff was exemplary. I must say there were a few problems after I left as my Aunt who was staying in the hotel had to phone down to the night security man as she had knocked on the door next to hers to ask the people to turn their television down but was curtly told to mind her own business and "F*** off" . I have to say I was impressed with how it was dealt with. My Aunt phoned down in a panic and told him of the situation and told her to stay in her room while he spoke to them, By all accounts he gave them a warning and told them if they misbehaved anymore he would evict them without hesitation. He then went and re-assured my Aunt. I also phoned the hotel to see what was occuring and he put my mind at ease telling me he would keep an eye on the situation as he was on all night and not to worry. It is reassuring in the current climate that some people are prepared to go that little extra to keep their customers safe and secure. I don't know the mans name but I had seen the man at around 11pm in reception he was tall, very muscular with brushed back hair.

"Special Weekend"
N9715WYrogerb, 05 Décembre 2017

Stayed at this hotel before and having previously been satisfied I booked a deluxe room for a special weekend. On arrival the room was extremely cold and heating took several hours to make the room more comfortable. After an afternoon shopping my partner decided on a hot bath which turned out impossible as the plug would not fit. Staff at reception could not get a replacement as housekeeping staff were not available. I was offered another room but this being shower only I declined. Wanting a special weekend, it was the small details that let us down.

"Fantastic customer service at reception"
janine177, 29 Novembre 2017

I received outstanding customer service from reception staff at The Best Western Atlantic Hotel, Chelmsford. All the staff at reception were very nice and helpful, but Charlotte Walker was amazing! What a kind, can do and helpful person. Charlotte went the extra mile, and helped me sort out an unusual logistical problem related to my trip. I would have struggled without her help. The room was very nice and clean, and I had a really good nights sleep. The food was good, although the service staff in the restaurant were not so good. I got a grumpy short response when trying to sort out getting a low fat meal. The restaurant was busy however, and I think it needed more staff. They should have Charlotte as a tutor. Charlotte made my trip fantastic, and I can't thank her enough for her help. The overall top marks here are due to her professionalism and outstanding service.

"Good for a single night"
Aeger_1982, 27 Novembre 2017

Wide enough and clean room. The bathroom too was clean and wide enough. In the everage the breakfast buffet. Kind staff. Not so good the bar. In general, it is a good hotel for a one or two nights stay in a working trip.

"Very pleased with service"
Sharon M, 26 Novembre 2017

Just returned from the best Western Atlantic Hotel. When we we arrived we were pleased to have been upgraded and found the room to be clean and very comfortable. We had a problem with the kettle which was promotly changed for a new one when we let reception know. Breakfast was delicious and the staff were more than helpful. Thanks very much guys!

"Not bad for the price"
dan_lewi2, 26 Novembre 2017

Room was reasonable price and had a comfortable bed. However bathroom was a bit grim with mould between tiles and a toilet that needed a good clean. Receptionist struggled understanding my English accent, but got checked in eventually.

"We always stay at this Hotel - best in Chelmsford"
Babynosa, 24 Novembre 2017

We always stay in the hotel, great location, restaurant food great and breakfast lovely. Staff always look after us and parking easy. Rooms are big so plenty of room and bathrooms are always clean. Would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel

"A hidden jewel"
Chris W, 23 Novembre 2017

Tucked away behind a gym and a block of flats, this is a surprise. Nice decor, friendly staff (especially in the excellent and reasonably priced restaurant) and comfortable well-equipped rooms. Bed so big you don't need to like the person you are sharing with and a huge HD TV with Sky and BT Sport. We were there five days and could happily have stayed longer. In fact we have already booked it again when we return to Chelmsford n December.

"Recent refurbishment doesn't make up for staffs bad attitude"
Stefanie R, 22 Novembre 2017

Recent refurb on the hotel is lovely and makes massive different to their glaring old decor. However, the staff at hotel have just become worse as the years go on. They can be rude. Food from restaurant is lovely and breakfast is amazing.

"Mid week stay"
Jo-l0ves-holidays, 17 Novembre 2017

Stayed at the hotel for one night. Lovely and clean room with a fantastic big bed. Felt like it might have been recently redecorated, as a lot of it seemed quite new. Was surprisingly cool in he room, but that suited me as I find hotels are usually too hot and stuffy. Breakfast was ok, not too sure about the vegetarian sausage though. It was cooked but still looked like a roll of raw vegetables and potatoes. Not a very big restaurant, and lots of solo guests midweek so I imagine you'd have to queue at peak times. All staff were very polite and friendly. Would stay again.

"Hard-to-find, noisy, no lift, poor service"
CrustyOldtimer, 17 Novembre 2017

I've always thought that Best Western hotels had individual character, but this hotel is on a trading estate in the middle of Chelmsford. It looks very much like the office blocks surrounding it, so you really struggle to find it with the poor signposting. It is relatively new, and has a spacious lobby - but surprisingly has no lift to take guests and their luggage to the two upper floors. Our room was, I suppose, reasonable for the price we paid, but we were treated to the noise of trains trundling through the nearby station pretty much all night. Breakfast is extra, and quite expensive, but when we checked in we weren't told it was cheaper if paid for in advance. I asked for a map of the city centre, and was offered a photocopy of such poor quality it was barely useable. Unfortunately, we left a small bag of pants and socks behind when we checked out. I realised the problem the same evening, contacted the hotel - only to be told that the bag and its contents had been incinerated. Great customer care !

"Very good!"
Bill_Ali95, 16 Novembre 2017

My family and I really enjoyed our stay here in Milan. Very close to the main train station in Milan, the receptionist was lovely and very helpful, and the room was clean and tidy. The only downfall was that the shower/bath was very high and a little struggled to get in even for two young fit guys. Other than that, the breakfast was great, and check-in and check-out was very smooth and easy. Would definitely consider this hotel if ever in Milan and would highly recommend.

"Clean and nice breakfast"
Richiewoodhouse, 13 Novembre 2017

Just stopped for one night. Clean with reasonable comfortable bed. Would have been better if the heating had been on because it was very cold when I arrived. The breakfast was nice with plenty of choice.

"Ok, but not great"
David S, 30 Octobre 2017

The hotel was reasonably priced, which was attractive. However, eh atmosphere was no great. reception was very cold, the room was also cold and only had a huge AC unit which did provide hot air but it was very very noisy - could not keep it on, it needs basic heating. The restaurant food was good, but very loud Italian music and very brightly lit - no atmosphere. Finally, breakfast was very poor -no free tables, no glasses, no cutlery and too few staff running around. Cutting corners. Will not be returning to this Best Western.

"Worst Western"
Stuart G, 27 Octobre 2017

I booked this hotel two weeks in advance for a two night stay at around £95 per night. The hotel bar had three lagers on keg and no bitter! The Guinness was off. I had to pay £8 for a bottle of bitter and a small bottle of Bud! The bitter was served ice cold from the fridge!? My daughter paid the best part of £10 for two pints of keg lager! Awful beer, horrific prices. The room was basic with no frills at all, not a picture on the wall! The electric kettle did not switch off automatically as it should have, the silicone seal around the bath was black with mould in places. The shower head could not be fixed in one place and had to be held to direct the jet. My wife could not get enough light by the mirror to do her hair and make up, and cut herself on a sharp edge of the shower mixer tap! On the plus side the bed was comfy! We were asked to pay for breakfast in advance and told it was £2 cheaper to do this than pay on the day! It was awful! Cold plates, sausages with skin so thick and wrinkled they took some cutting let alone chewing. It takes a special sort of culinary talent to make raw ingredients look so unappealing! Scrambled egg was watery and looked grey! It was flavourless. The coffee pot arrived with the bottom of the handle not attached to the pot (the spot weld had failed) it would not be difficult to imagine the whole thing failing and scalding the user. The customer in front of me did not know what to do with the stainless steel tops of the Bain Marie, so he put them on the floor whilst serving himself! They were duly replaced without being cleaned! I cancelled my prepaid breakfast for the following day and used the excellent sandwich shop across the road. Cheaper, tastier and infinitely better than the in house offering. I will not be returning to the Worst Western, and would counsel others to give it a wide berth!

"Suprisingly Good and well worth it!!"
Tasty_Mr_T, 23 Octobre 2017

For a budget priced hotel and a Best Western, this was a pleasant experience and unlike many Best Western's I have stayed in. The room was modern and clean, and relatively large which was a bonus. All fixtures and fitting looked fairly new, and everywhere had a fresh smell. The bathroom was very modern and well stocked with shower gel and towels etc. The corridor lighting can seem a bit low key and bland but it is good enough to feel secure. The restaurant was small and clearly plays the 'Italian theme' a bit pricey for a Budget Hotel but the food was very good and the staff were excellent (very attentive). The Breakfast is also good quality and fresh. The hotel had a good and spacious car park and access is ok. I would definitely stay there again.

"Strange building that's not easy to find"
darren s, 22 Octobre 2017

The date of this hotel and its strange design makes it an unlikely contender for any awards. The staff could make all The difference but sadly they dont. Awful lighting in the corridors with a funny damp smell. Service carts left out simply covered by a sheet all give the impression of carelessness.

"Weird Decor, but comfortable room"
Nicknicklambert, 22 Octobre 2017

The corridors have silhouettes of Mohammed Ali wearing neon lipstick on the walls! The room itself is comfortable enough, the wi-fi works well. Be aware that there is no lift to the first floor, if you have a lot of luggage. The reception service was perfunctory, I don't think he made eye contact even once. You will need a code to get out of the carpark, don't forget to ask before you leave reception.

"Good hotel, just lacking final touch."
chelseagland, 20 Octobre 2017

Having stayed here recently to visit family, we were very happy with the comfortable room and especially the large bed. However the finer points of the room cleaning need to be looked at ( during a four day stay, not once was the floor hoovered properly or the fan in the bathroom cleaned , I cleaned it eventually !))But overall a good hotel in a fairly quiet location ( train line is two hundred metres away )

"OKish"
Maria O, 16 Octobre 2017

We arrived an hour early and asked if we could leave the car in the car park , we were told we could . The Executive Double was basically decorated but had an enormous bed which was very comfy. Unfortunately the bath pressure was so bad that it took ages to run , by the time there was enough water for a bath , the water was tepid. Not great. We weren't sure if we would be up for breakfast so didn't pre book , we were for warned that if we didn't pre book , the cost would be £11.95 rather than £8.95 . We did have breakfast , which was ok if you wanted the full English , the choices of two continental meats and one cheese was not great and pancakes were not available , as the order had not been delivered ? I realised they must be bought in ready made. I think that the chef could have made pancakes easily enough , not great. What was great however were the breakfast staff . Without exception , they were friendly and efficient , and apologetic. I hope that their positive customer service is recognised.

"Good hotel "
Carly S, 16 Octobre 2017

Stayed here with a friend for one night. The room is great and the added Nespresso machine was a welcome perk. The huge walk in shower was also lovely. My only criticism would be the cooked breakfast which was a little cold and we had to wait for more mushrooms and eggs. Outside of that this is a good place to stay. Great parking too.

"So nearly excellent!"
adobeKent, 13 Octobre 2017

Very friendly, helpful staff. Very comfy beds and a good size room. Parking is free and near to reception.Car park entrance is a little difficult to find. We had a cup of tea in the bar and then when we returned from the races and had a drink in the bar. A couple of gripes, however, the shower curtain had black mould on the bottom which could be easily replaced (the hotel apologised about this and didn't charge us for the drinks). The curtains need to be re-hung as both the nets and main curtains were partially hanging off. We would stay again.

"Tired"
David P, 02 Octobre 2017

So on arrival at hotel, receptionist looked after bags for me as I arrived before check in. That was decent of her but she was plainly too busy and forgot the niceties like welcome and a smile. The reception staff on the whole we're uncommunicative no hi's smiles good mornings/evenings. I think they are very stretched work wise. The room itself was tired, and for the price I paid I expected better. A Travelodge is as good and half the price! The folder containing info to the hotel was falling apart, and the pelmet over the curtains was stuck to the wall with Velcro. It's these little things that matter really, as a guest if those things are missed you tend to feel neglected. I have to say the night guy was brilliant by the way, there was trouble with a guy from a wedding and he had managed to get him to go outside, I had come down for a cigarette and he explained the situation and that the guy was in the car park so the door was locked. He let me out of a back entrance, and gave me the number to ring to let me back in which I didn't need as he came to check on me twice. He also said good night as I went back to the room! The only greeting I had received during my stay. I have to say the breakfast staff were excellent though, polite cheerful and efficient. Would I stay again? No Which is a shame as I will need to go to the city fairly frequently

"Weekend in chelmsford"
Morag J, 01 Octobre 2017

Faultless stay at the hotel. Room was lovely, very comfortable bed and the staff were welcoming and helpful. There is ample parking and the hotel is close to the city centre. Would stay here again and would recommend others to give it a try. I had a gluten free breakfast which was tasty.

"5 NIGHT STAY"
Raymond P, 20 Septembre 2017

A very friendly clean hotel.Good hot full English breakfast and ample parking.Very quiet during my visit. The friendly and helpful staff made for a very enjoyable stay.I will definitely stay there next year if I can get in.

"Overnight break"
Houdini1083, 20 Septembre 2017

Stayed here on a weekday evening. The room was spotless, bed large and very comfy with in room tea/coffee facilities. Would definitely recommend and would stay here again. Hotel has a good sized car park and is a five minute walk from the town centre but remains in a quiet area so noise isn't an issue

"Two Rooms"
JackcomebackDawson, 19 Septembre 2017

The last BW we went to was on International Drive in Orlando many years ago. It wasn't great. But with a family reunion in the area, we booked up on line well in advance and, having got a reasonable price, upgraded ourselves to an executive room. And I'm glad we gave BW a second chance now. Firstly. Parking was on site, free and its only 5 minutes or so into town. Far enough without being on top of things. Secondly. An iron and board, a hair dryer, a good range of complimentaries, a kettle, a king size bed and big screen Sky Sports were all included. The package was definitely good value for money we found. Only niggle was there was no lift but thankfully we were only on the second floor. Still, there is room for a stand alone one in the foyer if funds could run to it. Thirdly, we availed ourselves of the bar last off, good service, great facility - and if I sum up our stay, we couldn't really have wished for more. Not so another couple with us who booked much later and got the last? ground floor room next to the entrance door. The smokers, not allowed indoors nowadays of course, gathered outside her window and apparently weren't respectful or considerate about whose room they were loudly chatting outside of. So the moral of the story is this: book early and request somewhere quiet if you can, And if there's no alternative available, I guess it would be better all round to "reconsider your position", as they say. As for us, we were well pleased with our package and would have no hesitation stopping here again if in the area.

"nice hotel"
vanessa n, 16 Septembre 2017

Lovely staff - went out of their way to be helpful, every single one of them. I had forgotten a light in my car and they woke me up to let me know. I am so grateful as my car would not have started the next day!

"Terrible wouldn't recommend "
Estelle M, 04 Septembre 2017

It has to be the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. I requested to change my room as I wasn't happy with the standard. The hotel receptionist was very very very rude and refused to see Request. As a paying customer at your establishment I would have expected to be treated with a bit more respect instead your staff were rude to me and my guess on numerous occasions. When I first checked in I wasn't even shown what direction to go to get to my room and when I did ask for help to get to through the doors as my hands were full I was met with the response by your reception staff 'the door does open', I was livid. The worst hotel I have stayed in purely on the grounds of rude reception staff. Will never recommend this place.

"Good Stop For Business"
Jay S, 03 Septembre 2017

This is a lovely hotel for an overnight or extended stay. Good facilities all round and the staff attended all my needs. Will definitely use again. The room was comfortable and quiet allowing for a much needed rest, followed by a hearty breakfast. Nice place and location.

"Very good value, we had two stays and would return."
WestCountryHawkeyes, 03 Septembre 2017

We stayed before and after a holiday. I could well believe that this is the best value in town. King size beds, clean rooms, good parking and very good location a short walk from the new Eating Area in the town. Because of this both dinner and breakfast were taken away from the hotel so I can't comment on the restaurant but it appeared up to the usual standard. That in many ways sums up my experience with Best Western, over many years I have never had a bad experience with them.

"Good hotel"
Paul J, 29 Août 2017

If I was staying in Chelmsford on my own again, I'd probably try to stay here again. Good size room for one or two, and with easy access to the town centre is well placed for someone looking for a good hotel in walking distance of plenty of amenities. Access to the gym next door. Decent breakfast, but not super.

"A very enjoyable short stay."
JoyT51, 28 Août 2017

Great location and very helpful and pleasant staff. Plenty of choice for breakfast and staff were very happy to accommodate special diets. Rooms were clean, spacious and quiet. Even though staff were clearing away after breakfast , the morning coffee we ordered with visiting friends was served with a smile.

"SNOG, MARRY, AVOID ?"
david g, 27 Août 2017

I'd seriously recommend AVOID, you won't want any long term relationship here. Stayed at this hotel on 3 separate occasions. The Atlantic sets itself low standards and consistently manages to deliver them. The hotel is very much a low cost no frills budget experience though the room rates charged do not reflect this, expect to pay circa £100. Let's start with the positive, not much to talk about here sadly; the double beds are really big so you can stretch out. The gentleman at breakfast is always very polite and they can cook perfect poached eggs. That's where it ends. Generally, I've found the staff, with one exception, disengaged and unmotivated, feels to me like they are getting hospitality experience before they move to somewhere where they might enjoy their work. The rooms are basic; I'd give them an average ‘C' for cleanliness. Cobwebs in the corner of the rooms for example. There is little attention to detail; my last room had a tissue box with only one sheet. Take your own toiletries, as the tiny soap and rubbish shampoo are exactly what they are, rubbish! There are no other amenities. The night-light had a bulb that needed replacing; it's not that hard now is it. I've had a room where the TV remote didn't work, and if you can get the TV on you are treated to the very basic free to air channels though you qualify for Sky if you pay their ‘executive' rate, I got ‘scolded' by the reception staff for daring to ask one time. Some of the rooms have been refurbished, on one stay I was delighted to find it had air conditioning, the other two nights my room was cooled by opening the window. I've always found the rooms to be uncomfortably hot. If you are unluckily enough to get the ground floor you'll be aggravated by the busy car park noise or worse still the smoke from the designated smoking area which has been inconveniently situated right by the main entrance, top marks for the genius who thought that one through. Generally, I've always been underwhelmed by my experiences at the Atlantic and aggravated by different things so much so I thought the Regional General Manager, Mr. Ricardo Santa-Rita might be interested in some feedback. To date, I've had no acknowledgment of my note and no response at all which demonstrates just how much this hotel takes business for granted. Many reading this, and probably Mr. Santa-Rita too will invite me to stay somewhere else if I don't like it so that's exactly what I shall be doing from now on. There is plenty of choice in Chelmsford so I shall be voting with my feet. Good luck if you make a choice to stay there, expect a 2* experience and you won't be disappointed.

"Comfortable overnight stay"
Amanda C, 22 Août 2017

One night stay to attend an evening wedding reception. More than adequate for an overnight stay. Room clean and comfortable bed with plenty of space for the two of us. Quiet too considering its located in a town. Staff were attentive, polite and cheerful and also helpful with booking our taxi. Breakfast was buffet style and satisfactory as far as this type of hotel goes. My only complaint is why can't these chain hotels provide better mirrors and lighting to make putting on makeup easier!

"Ok but nothing special"
Deepdiver_wannabe, 19 Août 2017

stayed here for one night. room was ok but very tired. bed was comfortable enough and it had basic sky tv but my room was on the ground floor next to the entrance. this is where all the smokers gathered outside for their hourly fix and i was eventually joining them , passively , which was unpleasant. Breakfast was ok and staff were also very helpful.

"Satisfactory but did not blow me away"
Sophie R, 19 Août 2017

The hotel was in a convenient location for my purpose, rooms were satisfactory- a few loose fittings in the bathroom (room 108) but nothing major. All the bar/restaurant staff I encountered were extremely friendly and gave excellent service. Unfortunately the same could not be said of the reception staff. Very prickly and un-accommodating. The night manager was however very helpful and gave a much warmer impression than the actual front of house staff.

"nice hotel"
Paul B, 14 Août 2017

one night stay .inviting hotel .nice room. very clean with all amenities. wi fi works always a good shout...only negative was wanted a drink at bar at approx 11pm after retuning from evening out was told u can have one but then have to leave as theres a wedding group coming in ...strange for a hotel to turn residents away from bar ..apart from that was a good stay and would return

"First night "
jonathanh1608, 08 Août 2017

First of four nights here Location is ok and beer and food acceptable Rooms also are good Staff so far 11/10 Easy check in and the two girls in the restaurant and bar top notch ! Mr or Mrs Manager please note you have great staff

"Wedding Guests"
John R, 06 Août 2017

We had various requests due to arrival times for a local wedding, all were accommodated and I can just say that the customer service was therefore first class, very impressed and the rooms were great and all facilities. John Roworth

"Pleasant Stay"
ROBINONorwich, 31 Juillet 2017

Nice welcome at reception. Room was cold but found window had been left open. Worried about proximity to car park but no noise heard slept very well. Food in restaurant nice for dinner. Breakfast hint , pancakes and bacon a must. Order pancakes before sitting down as take 10 mins , grab cereal , juice and a drink.

"Hotel is nice. Stay away from breakfast"
221annie, 30 Juillet 2017

overall the room was OK. The bed was uncomfortable. The bathroom was a bit to small and the shower had not been cleaned properly. The breakfast, was just horrible. Don't waste your money. I would recommend the 5 min walk to a very well known fast food restaurant. Because of this we went else were for the evening meal. Over all I would have rather stayed in a travel lodge or premier inn. Much better value.

"Attracively re-developed. Great staff! Good bathroom"
Staro30, 23 Juillet 2017

Recently stayed here for 1 night. Whole hotel tastefull recently re-developed. Room was a good size with comfy bed. Bathroom was great, especially shower. No hook on back of bathroom door though - always needs one. Bar and breakfast were very good. Staff were really helpful and attentive.

"Nice restaurant. Not the best hotel."
Royal45RL, 20 Juillet 2017

The staff where good but the room was a let down. Gap in between the bed and a zip through the centre of the quilt. It rained during the first night and the gutter outside dripped really loudly all night. The air con is old and very noisy. The Italian restaurant within the hotel is okay but don't order a Guinness unless you want it to be the worse pint you've ever seen, the staff need more pint training !!!!

"If the car park is full don't expect help from Reception"
Susan B, 13 Juillet 2017

Having been given advanced notice that the car park would be full on our arrival we were given instructions where to park in the overflow car park. However, when you get there, there is still that bit of doubt you are in the right place as all the spaces are marked and there are big signs mentioning which slots belong to who but no mention of the Atlantic Hotel. So to be sure, not wishing to be clamped, I checked with the hotel reception. The receptionist's answer was that I had to follow the instructions given and only the Manager who sent these knows which spaces to use. When I asked to speak to the Manager, of course she is not in. So no one at the hotel had a clue whether I was in the right place. Anyway I wasn't clamped and all was well, but if you arrive at this hotel when the car park is full and you have to use the overflow car park, don't expect Reception to be of any help.

"Satisfactory"
Nadia S, 21 Juin 2017

I stayed here for a work trip for 2 nights in May. The hotel rooms were good, the sizes were perfect for 2 sharing which were clean and simple! On the first night we ate at their restaurant which was Italian, the food was lovely! The breakfast was very simple continental but I found was quite limited. I can't comment on the price as it was paid for... But we did have complimentary water, tea, coffee and biscuits in our room! The staff were friendly and would be happy to stay here again.

"A real surprise"
David J, 09 Juin 2017

The approach to, and facade of, this hotel is quite unpromising, but once inside it's a nice surprise. Swish, clean, modern rooms, a very friendly and helpful staff, and a lovely restaurant. Very pleased indeed with my stay.

"NOT IMPRESSED - NIGHT POTER HAD APPALLING ATTITUDE"
648tarah, 07 Juin 2017

The night porter had appalling attitude. He needs customer service training before he should be left in charge of the hotel. His mannerism is aggressive and we do not expect to be talked to like children when we are paying £125 a room

"Faboulous Hotel!"
Cristinska, 31 Mai 2017

We picked this hotel as it was ideally located to visit friends who live in Chelmsford. It was also very convenient for a day trip to London, with the train station only five minutes walk from the hotel. We stayed in a Duplex Suite, which was a huge room able to accommodate our family of four all in the same room and still have plenty of space. The room was well equipped, with what we learnt was new furniture and bathroom. There was a big screen TV with Sky & BT Sports, a posh Nespresso coffe machine, Galaxy hot chocolate and a modern desk with USB charging ports. This was incredibly good value for what we paid. The staff was very friendly and attentive, always trying to please and make our stay enjoyable. Unfortunately, we had a busy weekend planned, so didn't have a chance to try the on-site restaurant, but it looked very good. Maybe next time, as we will be definitely coming back to this hotel.

"rocking good night with loads of food"
antony t, 20 Mai 2017

visit was for a 3 course meal with a tribute show, held in the restaurant part of the hotel, first ever visit to this hotel, well laid out restaurant area with well stocked bar and rest area to the side, good size floor area for dancing, first course of mini pizza covered the whole large plate with enough topping for a whole meal, second course of breast of chicken with vegetables again large chicken breast with loads of side vegetables with offers more side vegetables, the third course of mixed fruit tart and cream was out of this world, large tart filled with so much different fruit it was a dream meal, with coffee to follow, followed by the number one U.K. ELVIS tribute artist Mark Summers making it a good rocking night, all for just £35,thats value for money, large free car park ( just remember to get exit code before leaving )

"I won't stay anywhere else"
Vicky G, 09 Mai 2017

The nature of my job means that I travel around the country and stay in lots of hotels for much of the week and this hotel is one of the best I've stayed in. The rooms are clean and practical with the added touches of a coffee machine and toiletries. The staff are amongst the best I've experienced and the breakfast is amazing. I met Ben Mehanny, General Manager who explained that they also have a hotel in Bournemouth, which I have already booked for a trip in June. I've chosen this over the Hilton, where I normally stay in Bournemouth.

"Convenient for the Main Town"
IssyEssex, 09 Mai 2017

Very pleased to have free car parking with the hotel and on arrival found our room to be spacious, clean and well stocked with tea, coffee etc. Our only complaint was from others staying in the hotel partying all through the evening! Having brought this to the attention of the manager an apology and the offer of a free room at either Chelmsford or Colchester accepted.

"Average Hotel. Good food."
HayleyGarner1982, 08 Mai 2017

Ample free onsite parking. Check in was quick and the room was a good size. My room was overlooking the car park and my window didn't shut properly so was quite noisy in the morning. I ate in the restaurant both nights I was here and I really enjoyed the food on both occasions. So overall I'd say the hotel is average although the restaurant is above average.

"Perfect for Country Stay"
Canada689, 04 Mai 2017

This is just what you'd expect for Best Western. Large rooms, reasonable sized bathroom. Temperature control was good and we had a window for fresh air. Very economical. We received an AAA rate. Friendly and helpful staff. They kindly provide complimentary bottled water in your room and ice from the bar. The hotel is a bit of a walk from the train station. No fridges in room. Ice had to be retrieved from the bar downstairs. Single beds are quite tiny. Chelmsford is a great town. I would highly recommend this location if you are looking for a hotel outside of London. The town centre is quaint and very walkable with magnificent shopping and a great mall. Many coffee places were available for our walk to the train station every morning to explore London. Cost for a 7-day train pass to reach the London underground was about 95 pounds.

"Weekend with an association"
John B B, 01 Mai 2017

We arrived mid afternoon on Friday, my satnav took us to the hotel with no problems and there was ample free parking.- I had requested an accessible room and was given a nice, clean and well decorated room with a big Sky TV not far from reception. (There isn't a lift in this hotel) As this was a group visit, the food was buffet style on the first evening and a convention dinner from a previously chosen menu on the second evening. Breakfasts were a typical hotel buffet type and of high standard. The restaurant is Italian and the food delicious. The staff were very good and attentive. Internet was high signal.

"Very disappointing stay"
Tasha-Leanne, 18 Avril 2017

My boyfriend and I stayed at this hotel over Easter weekend as we were attending a wedding nearby. Our initial thoughts of the hotel were that it looked like an 'old people's home' from the outside, although not the end of the world. We were greeted by a grumpy looking receptionist who checked us in and took payment there and then (wishing I had held back payment until departure in hindsight). My first shocking experience was finding SOMEONE ELSE'S BOXERS!!! Presumably a previous guest's in the bottom of our wardrobe. We then noticed that our 'King size' bed as advertised was in fact two singles (single beds and single mattresses) pushed together. I addressed these issues with the reception team who explained all their rooms have 'zip and lock' beds this is standard and they have no other rooms to offer us. On second look, the actual zip and lock part of the bed hadn't even been connected properly so my boyfriend fixed this for us (not his job). There was a minor apology regarding the boxer incident and a member of cleaning staff sheepishly followed me to the room to remove these straight away. After this great start we had a more thorough look around the room and noticed that it looked as though it hadn't been cleaned for weeks; there were marks on the light switches, cupboards and walls. A carpet tile had been taken up and not put back properly and there were stains on the pillow cases that clearly did not come out in the wash. Just why the hotel is happy to provide guests with stained bedding for their stay is beyond me… The curtains were broken and half hanging down, which would have given the whole car park and high street a view of us getting ready for the wedding/or woken us up very early by daylight shining in, had it not been for my boyfriend who managed to fix them (again not his job!). There was also no iPod dock in the room as stated in the advert for an executive double. The overall appearance of the room was below average for the amount we paid and I was genuinely upset with the service we received. On check out we were not asked how our stay was, which is (I strongly believe) a standard courteous question that should be asked to all guests when they depart. My only presumption is that the receptionist could not be bothered to hear any more complaints as she knew this is what would be coming. I would not stay at the Best Western Chelmsford again, nor would I recommend.

"Good hotel"
Ann M, 16 Avril 2017

We stayed one night in April as we were going to a wedding near by. We had a long drive and we were hoping to get into our room early to change. No problem very nice reception and also helpful in getting us a taxi. The room was good and breakfast lovely

"Atlantic Hotel - My Opinion"
claireattwood, 15 Avril 2017

The bedrooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. The bedrooms and the corridors on the ground floor were dark almost impossible to see in the afternoon, bedrooms were not lit adequately. We ate our evening meal in the Italian restaurant as it had received such good reviews but we were very disappointed , as the cost for a 2 course meal for 3people was over£120. The meal was very basic and poorly cooked. Thecooked English breakfast was cold and the bacon of poor quality. The cold buffet would have been the better choice. Staff were pleasant and wanted to please. T.V. was excellent. A very average hotel and I would consider carefully before staying again.

"Undecided"
Russell P, 12 Avril 2017

This hotel wasn't really what I expected and whilst I don't want to appear too picky, there were a few things which I wasn't overly impressed with. Firstly, there wasn't a lift and for a modern hotel I thought this was highly unusual. We did at least get an offer of having our bags carried up to our room on the third floor. The room was large and clean but smelled really musty and possibly hadn't been used for a while. We opened the window and left it open for the duration of our stay. Fortunately, it was a reasonably warm evening. There were two bags of laundry in the stairwell on the third floor when we first arrived and they were still there when we left the following day. Vacuum cleaners were also left in the stairwell on each floor and these could surely have been put out of sight once they were finished with. Staff were really helpful and friendly, the room was okay, breakfast was really good and the overall experience wasn't too bad but not a hotel I would rush back to if I am being totally honest. I have stayed in much better for considerably less.

"My opinion"
garfield_linda43, 28 Mars 2017

Visiting this hotel for the first time, was by no means disappointing. This beautifully decorated hotel was one of the nicest I have stayed in. The staff very friendly. The room very nice, plenty of space. Equipped with TV, telephone, alarm clock, and ample supply of tea and coffee. There is a restaurant, which, although I did not use, was reasonably priced, with a selection of meals. A well equipped en-suite. Fresh linen everyday. There are shops within walking distance. I recommend the Atlantic wholeheartedly. If I had to criticise, only one small point - there are no lifts.

"Surprisingly pleased"
kevingriffin2016, 22 Mars 2017

The hotel room was a bit basic (mainly the bathroom), but extremely clean and had a great night sleep. The staff were extremely friendly and professional. The hotel restaurant was surprisingly of really good quality and tasted amazing.

"Noisy"
johnparslow, 14 Mars 2017

We stayed at the hotel last Saturday. This place ticked most of the boxes - nice big room, clean, comfortable, nice bar area and friendly staff. We got back to our room at around 11.30pm as I had to work the next day. However any chance of getting sleep was scuppered by the inconsiderate people next door who decided to have a party. We did ask them to keep the noise down, and one of them came and knocked on our door to apologise ( he was slightly worse for wear) and so we hoped the noise would stop. Unfortunately it continued and so my wife went to reception to ask if we could move to another room, only to be told that the hotel was full and there were not any spare rooms to move us to. We had to endure the noise until tiredness eventually took over and we got some sleep. I certainly didn't feel very energetic as I headed in to work. It was a real shame, because we really liked the hotel, but this poor experience caused by inconsiderate fellow guests took the edge off our stay.

"Best value in Chelmsford"
Simon E, 13 Mars 2017

Good rates at the weekend for a spacious, clean, well equipped room with a large comfortable bed. The staff are helpful and the secure (free) parking and free wi-fi very welcome. The location is convenient without being on top of the town and the station and some good restaurants are only a short walk away. I can't recommend the in house "Italian" restaurant though. Unless we caught it on an off night the food was poor: re-heated chips and tasteless fish served on top of a paper doily on the plate which disintegrated and left you chewing on paper with your food. Very odd!

"regular stay"
JAG190willow, 28 Novembre 2016

I've been staying here for the past 4 years. The hotel is undergoing a revamp which was needed. The rooms are comfortable and clean. The food is a little random but fine after a long days travel. It has a good car park and very close to the university. Reception staff are generally great. There is one girl who remembers me even though it may be a could of months between visits.

"Good Value for the price you pay."
gourmandise, 21 Novembre 2016

Considering what you pay here - with the addition of free car parking not far from the centre of Chemlsford and free entry to the adjacent Health Club - this hotel is excellent value. The rooms are good with a comfortable double bed and excellent shower and bathroom amenities including a good supply of white fluffy towels. The in room TV has all the channels you require! Myriam on reception was very helpful. You can pre-pay for your breakfast at a favourable price!

"Nice hotel, food not so good"
1TRFC, 20 Novembre 2016

Stayed for one night dinner bed and breakfast on Friday night. Roons were excellent with massive beds. Bar and restaurant was pretty empty for a Friday. The restaurant is Italian themed only which i though was a bit restrictive. Drinks were expensive and food was average only. Breakfast was okay but not buffet style you have to order from menu. Again breakfast restaurant was empty. Staff were pleasant but not sure if I would return.

"Very basic hotel with rude/hostile staff… Avoid!"
Nina263, 14 Novembre 2016

I stayed at this hotel for 1 night in November with family (the bridal party) as the reception venue was close by. We had 6 rooms booked in total (2 for 2 nights and 4 for 1 night). First 'incident' - After I had checked in and went back and forth between the car and the room with my luggage, another member of the bridal party arrived with her children so I waited in reception until she had checked in. After she had checked in we proceeded to head upstairs to our rooms however the receptionist called out to me and said you need to check in. I told her that I already had, don't you remember to which she replied it's been busy here I can't remember. Although this is hardly an incident, I did not understand why would she assume I would just wonder upstairs without having checked in. Her response was not polite considering she was in the wrong and did not give me a good feeling. The hotel is very basic for these main reasons: There is no lift (very awkward for our family members who had small children and pushchairs) and the hotel staff did not offer to assist The heater in my room did not work (the receptionist came to look at it but was unable to fix the problem - I had a poorly 3 year old with me so this was not ideal and too late to move room not that I was offered) The rooms (bathroom especially) decor is outdated and looks like it needs a refurb (no loo brush) The gym (which I didn't use) is across the road from the hotel Late check out could only be extended for 1 hour on all the rooms that were booked for 1 night (annoying as check out was at 11am and the wedding cars were not arriving until 2pm) The only 'good' thing about the hotel is that the rooms have SKY TV. Second incident - On return from the wedding (approximately 1am), the security guard made it very difficult for the bride and groom to gain access telling them there were no more rooms despite the bride having stayed the previous night and both of them in wedding attire (a wedding dress and suit). Next the security guard became extremely confrontational and hostile and kept insisting the room had only been booked for 1 night. To my shock he then called the police (completely unnecessary as the situation had not escalated) only to double check again and realise mid conversation with them that the room was in fact booked for 2 nights and told them it was all fine now. I don't like playing the 'race' card however if our party were white, would the above incidents have happened… who knows? Even so, avoid this hotel. There is a Premier Inn round the corner' I don't think it could be worse!

"an ideal place to stay."
broganites, 13 Novembre 2016

stayed here for a Friday and Saturday night. Lovely big bed which was extremely comfortable. The room was a nice size and the bathroom had a powerful shower and adequate towels. Shampoo, shower gel and a small soap was also provided. The room was quiet enough - well away from a noisy party on the Friday night. The breakfast was freshly cooled to order and I was delighted that they also had scrambled egg with smoked salmon on the menu. The breakfast of either continental or full english was not extensive but perfectly adequate for most people. Good choice of teas! On the negative side, there is no lift and fortunately we only had one flight of stairs to go up. No wonderful views out of the window but as we were within walking distance to the town centre I suppose that was only to be expected. There is a free car park.

"VERY NOISEY"
Elishia B, 13 Novembre 2016

Stayed here for 2 nights with our 1 year old to visit friends whos recently moved near here, our room was facing car park on ground level. The first night there was loud music playing from 10.30pm-midnight we never got told this was happening so wasnt expecting this at all, finally managed to get sleep at 1.30am after other guests had quietened down as you could hear them talking outside, banging car doors shut etc. Our 2nd night started off quieter as no music BUT we was woken at 2am with girls shouting very loudly in the corridor, got back sleep and woken again at 4am with people banging on someone's window, and shouting from the car park, also could here people banging about in room above, we will definitely not be returning here, never have we stopped in such a noisey hotel, cudnt fault the facilities just dont get a decent sleep!

"short walk into town - well appointed room and good breakfast"
martinfjlewis, 11 Novembre 2016

a little difficult to find - sat nav took me close but got lost in the nearby warehouse area - kind lady on reception sorted me out on the phone basically turn down the road after the car wash then hang a left room very good and sky tv channels including movies and sports :) breakfast was also of a good quality with both buffet and cooked options and decent black pudding which always scores highly for me

"Excellent services."
Paul W, 04 Novembre 2016

This hotel does not try to be what it is not, but we found it very good for our needs. It is well known placed for the centre of town. A short walk and you are at the cathedral. What I liked most was the attitude of the staff - desk, restaurant, bar etc. They were a mixture of nationalities but always cheerful, helpful and obliging. Full marks to them!

"Excellent Customer Service"
Yvonne T, 24 Octobre 2016

Myself and a large group have recently stayed at this hotel for around 3- 4 weeks. For the money the rooms were good value, quite big, showers were lovely. Plenty of parking spaces as parking is a bit of an issue in Chelmsford we discovered. By far this hotel exceeds expectations with the Customer Service in the Restaurant without exception the staff were amazing. Very attentive, they remembered people drink orders in the morning, always happy to help and suggest alternatives. I would definitely return to this hotel and highly recommend.

"Disappointing"
AdamandJules, 18 Octobre 2016

I stayed for one night on business and it was just ..disappointing. On arrival there were no towels (but sorted quickly by reception) . The bathroom just did not seem very clean- the highlight being the very ominous brown stain at the bottom of the bath. Hairs on floor. The bedside lights had no obvious switch- so had to clamber to other side of room (crashing into nice executive leather chair) to turn the room lights on. TV was unpredictable and initially struggled to get a feed. (- but nice HD when it worked). Dined in hotel "Italian restaurant"- who overcooked spaghetti. When complained to reception when checking out, they gave me the managers card- which didn't make me feel any better! Staff generally polite and try to be helpful, but seem to lack direction!

"A good experience overall. Room was modern and clean, and relatively large which was a bonus. All fixtures and fitting"
598David, 18 Octobre 2016

For the budget price, the room was modern and clean, and relatively large which was a bonus. All fixtures and fitting looked fairly new, and everywhere had a fresh smell. The bathroom was very modern and well stocked with shower gel and towels etc. The restaurant was small but the food was very good and the staff were excellent (very attentive). The hotel had a good and spacious car park, but was difficult to find as the entrance was behind the hotel with no signage on the main approach road. I would definitely stay there again.

"great location"
Karen B, 15 Octobre 2016

this hotel is well located in town.I stayed at the best western for one night as I had a business meeting the following day and living in Chester it was easier to stay over. I arrived on Monday at around 16.30 check in was not until 3.00 which was fine. There was just one gentleman on the front desk after checking in I went to my room which had nice décor and a very comfy bed.

"Good quality friendly stay"
stephenhodges70, 10 Octobre 2016

Easy to find and parking is good, friendly and helpful staff especially Emma on Reception, room was clean and tidy and restaurant very welcoming. we used the bar and it was a comfortable place to sit. The food in the restaurant was good, about average price for a hotel of this size.

"Passable"
cfc1978, 04 Octobre 2016

I stayed at the best western for one night as I had a business meeting the following day and living in Nottinghamshire it was easier to stay over. I arrived on Sunday at around 12.30 check in was not until 3.00 which was fine. There was just one gentleman on the front desk after checking in I went to the bar but there was no bar tender. It turned out that the man on reception was also the bar man. I may expect this in a small privately run hotel but not in a chain. The room was clean and tidy comfy bed however the cost of an English breakfast was £11.95. Way over priced in my opinion and I declined. Overall average but would not stay again.

"Nice place"
Dan M, 02 Octobre 2016

The room was good, big tv, clean, well decorated and lovely shower. The rest of the hotel was clean and well decorated good food and friendly staff all in all it's a good place. My only quibble is the king bed was 2 singles put together with 2 single duvets zipped together and a king duvet cover over the top, bit random but it was fine and I would definitely stay again

"Masher"
Masher R, 01 Octobre 2016

Lovely hotel comfy beds nice room,The staff in the hotel were excellent could not do enough for you especially in the restuarant,We had an evening meal which was fine all in all a niceplace to stay would recommend it for short stays ,

"Not the Best, Best Western"
Lady_doodle3, 28 Septembre 2016

Having stayed in Best Western before for business I was feeling at ease at placing my booking. Unfortunately this wasn't up to the standard of others. Some of the staff were very pleasant and friendly, some were not. The walls were stained and dirty in the room. The constant banging of doors was a constant unfortunate noise. They had an Italian restaurant with room service yet no pizza! When working late you just want something easy to eat... I ended up ordering from Just Eat. It really wasn't worth the cost compared to other Best Westerns... Should of booked a Travelodge - cheaper but same value that I stayed!

"Decent place..............."
steveandsuzie, 19 Septembre 2016

Good location just a short walk from the high street etc. Nicely presented bar & restaurant areas, friendly helpful front desk. Competent, polite bar & waiting staff. Good buffet style breakfast full English & continental selections. Expect around £100 a night for a family room with breakfast. Free parking.

"Great stay and Sky TV"
Scott S, 18 Septembre 2016

We stayed overnight here as my cousins 30th was just down the road. From the outside the hotel doesn't look the best, more like an old people's home but don't let that put you off. Checking in was nice and the reception was welcoming. The hotel looks to have had a lot of money spent on the inside: the room had a massive bed and sky tv with a 40" Samsung tv and an air con unit if you need it. It's decorated very modern, with neutral tones and a splash of colour from canvases on the walls. We didn't opt for the breakfast as McDonald is just down the road and we weren't fussy. Definitely a great place to stay even if it's just for one night. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because we didn't have the breakfast (and this may or may not bring the rating up or down) and the carpet did have some stains. Get booked in!

"Dreadful "
Andrew K, 18 Septembre 2016

Had to book a suite as no standard rooms available. Hottest day of the year and the suite has no air conditioning. Staff provided a small fan. The king bed is two singles pushed together. Attitude of manager is awful. Value for money poor. Avoid.

"Impressed"
StevieP79, 14 Septembre 2016

Spent four nights here with a group of friends and throughly enjoyed it. Hotel exterior has you fearing the worst but once you enter you are greeted by very pleasant, modern decor and very attentive staff. Has a lovely bar/restaurant area and the staff are all great. Food was good in the restaurant and the bar prices were about what you'd expect without being extortionate. On arrival we enquired about an early breakfast on the two weekend days as our group needed to be out early (breakfast is served from 6:30 on weekdays but 8am on weekends). We were told that this wouldn't be a problem but when we tried to confirm things that evening with the night porter he told us in no uncertain terms that he could "guarantee" this wouldn't be possible! We tried to explain we'd already discussed with the receptionist but he was adamant it couldn't be done! However we spoke to the daytime staff the following day and they sorted it out for us no problem. This is my only gripe about our stay - the night porter could have been a little more willing to listen rather than just refusing our request outright. The rest of our stay was, however, faultless, and as has already been written by another member of our group, we did test the staff's patience once or twice and they were very good. Would happily stay there again.

"Better than expected"
RotherhamSilverback, 12 Septembre 2016

A group of us stayed at the hotel which was described as 'modest' and from the outside it didn't look anything special. Well just goes to show that you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover. Very nice hotel. Contemporary decor, very well maintained. Spacious room with everything you need, comfortable bed, nice TV, drink making facitily etc. We had a meal on the Friday night in the restaurant, 18 of us at one table. The food was delivered hot and tasty. Breakfast was very good, fist hotel I have evr stayed at where poached eggs are available without a wait, they are constantly cooking them fresh. Biggest asset to the hotel are the staff. Very friendly and believe me we tested their patience at times. Would definitely stay here again.

"Central Location"
Velda W, 12 Septembre 2016

We stayed here for one night while we were visiting for FriendsFest. The rooms were big and installed with sky which was a good surprise. The only problem was the room was so hot, with the weather being good and the hairdryer going off, it felt like a small sauna. You can walk into town which may be a bit difficult in heels but you can manage. The staff were lovely in the hotel restaurant, they couldn't have been more helpful which made our stay great.

"Poor Hotel and Rooms"
Abhu S, 12 Septembre 2016

Awful rooms. no proper beds. Don't think of this hotel. Have stayed in several hotels and this was the worst. Fan provided was very noisy and rooms smelly. .... Only good point was the location as it is close to the city. But not worth the money they charge for a room

"Cold Full English Breakfast"
658gaily, 04 Septembre 2016

We stayed here for five nights The hotel, staff, parking, cleanliness, and service was good. comfortable bed, central to all our needs. BUT the breakfast was poor !!! The hot breakfast was cold and tasteless. The cold breakfast was basic and the meat\\cheese tasted of bananas they were all in the same cabinet. At £11.95 for a full English it was not good.

"Over night stay"
Liz R, 21 Août 2016

Booked 2 rooms for my in laws and husband and I. In a funny location but still only 10-15 min walk to town. We arrived and the room stank of feet so got moved after having to prove to the receptionist that it smelt! The room was spacious but very tatty. Shower awful, tiles falling off and no air con with a tiny window so was very hot and stuffy! TV didn't work as was all unplugged at the back? Is this not checked when being cleaned? The fan was on when we arrived so they obviously have a Robles with the heat. The staff were friendly though, the breakfast was ok.

"Good Freindly hotel to stay"
Newbury96, 17 Août 2016

Excellent prompt service, friendly staff who remember you, good food and nothing is to much trouble for them. Rooms are large and airy and always with plenty of tea and coffee available Good location for work and also main shopping centres within easy walking distance. Plenty of restaurants and eating places around the area.

"Good hotel, priorities a bit skewed"
Chris J, 15 Août 2016

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Atlantic Hotel, as we had a week-long training course at Chelmsford ice rink. The staff were great and very helpful throughout the week. The hotel is quite deceptive from the outside. It doesn't look anything special until you walk in. The reception area is very impressive. Obviously a lot of time and money spent on it. Where they let themselves down is that the rooms, bathrooms in particularly don't follow the same high quality standard that the reception and hallways display. I can't help but feel that too much time and money was spent on the aesthetics in the 'public' areas, where it's the bathrooms within the rooms that need some investment. In our room, the bathroom tiles had lots of cracks in the tiles, the sink taps were loose and ill-fitting and the whole place generally just had a cheap, run down feel. It's a shame, as overall we had a great stay, but there are some very easily-solved issues that let the place down.

"Don't judge a hotel by its exterior!!"
Nigel A, 14 Août 2016

To be honest I don't normally opt for best western hotels due to some previous bad experiences. The Atlantic however is a rose amongst thorns. Upon arrival the fist impression isn't great the facade is dated plain cream brick but the car park is a good size and security is good. The welcome at reception was very nice and the boutique style decor quickly changed my opinion. Very nice staff gave a perfect initial impression. The room very near reception was very well presented very clean and plenty of space for any couple despite the fact I was attending alone. Shower and bath with plenty of supplies and also a good size. Huge desk which was exactly what I needed for a surprise web presentation in addition to my local engineering appointment. Food was second to none great breakfast and a lovely choice. Evening meal was Italian style and a great selection to choose from. I've learnt my lesson and will definitely stay again. First class service, atmosphere, staff and presentation.

"Modern hotel with excellent rooms"
Kurnalpi, 11 Août 2016

The Atlantic was difficult to find (don't try the nearby carwash!) but had a very welcoming and helpful reception staff and an excellent large (by Travelodge standards) room with free WiFi and large Samsung TV with Sky and lots of channels - just right for the Olympics. The bathroom was good with an easy to use shower and plenty of towels. We did not eat in the Italian restaurant but it looked very modern and pleasant.

"So So"
Ricky H, 04 Août 2016

Average hotel at big price. Better looking inside than out. Restaurant food expensive but menu not extensive. If I had paid around £60-£70 I wouldn't complain. I can get a half decent hotel in the city for £93

"Nice rooms, good location"
Ash B, 31 Juillet 2016

A very modern, clean, city centre hotel. Nice bedrooms, huge beds and good showers. Pleasant staff too. That being said I don't think this hotel is any better than the nearby Premier Inn - which tends to be available at a lower price. Note that if you want an early breakfast on Sunday, forget it. The restaurant opens at 0800 and there's no way the staff will consider doing anything early.

"Good location for the town"
Redbrickwall, 27 Juillet 2016

Stayed here Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights for a family birthday party. King size bed very comfortable. Breakfast was superb on the first two mornings but Monday morning was spoiled for us with a private party having exclusive access to the sunny breakfast room. Regular breakfast guests were put in the dining room with heavy dark curtains shutting out any daylight plus instead of the usual buffet breakfast we had to order our cooked breakfast option. It was a long time before the waiter took our order and a further 40mins for it to arrive. A shame as it was the perfect location for us when visiting family and only a 10mins walk to the town.

"Nice hotel"
Woodybay, 26 Juillet 2016

Great parking right in centre of Chelmsford , 2 mins to rail & bus station.Big secure car park.Rooms clean and spacious - massive bed, very comfy. All staff helpful and friendly.Food very good, w/e breakfast , help yourself in conservatory excellent, however this quickly descends into chaos when this is overtaken by conference/ meetings, guests moved into darkened bar area, food needs to be ordered , minimal staff completely overwhelmed food takes 20 mins + to arrive. If this is normal would recommend w/e stay only.

"Great Rooms"
Candice D, 18 Juillet 2016

I stayed in an executive double, the shower was amazing, having sky in the room was a real bonus and the food in the Italian restaurant for dinner and breakfast was really good. Staff were friendly and polite. Would definitely stay here again.

"Party Weekend"
helenadennis2016, 18 Juillet 2016

Myself and my Goddaughter stayed at this hotel on the weekend of 16th/17th July 2016, we were attending a birthday party and thought we would make a weekend of it. The hotel was lovely, modern, but with a cosy feel to it. Our room was amazing, it was seriously spacious, clean and lovely. The bathroom, was great, the shower excellent, but most of all, the staff were lovely. Hayden, the Bar Manager was especially welcoming, warm, friendly and nothing was too much trouble for him. We really loved our stay and I plan to go back, just because. I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone.

"Weekend Stay"
Robbie L, 10 Juillet 2016

Stayed 2 nights over a weekend for a friends wedding. Hotel was fine, Restaurant was good too. The shining star was the bar manager, he catered to every need and was incredibly welcoming. Credit to his employers. Would recommend to anyone staying in the area.

"Convenient and Comfortable"
SBusiness, 08 Juillet 2016

Booked the hotel as it was next door to work location, hotel has a very good Italian restaurant/bar which I ate in on the first night. Nice reception area with friendly staff and well equipped rooms - good wifi. Nearby train lines can get noisy but comfortable rooms and bed. Hotel has a deal with adjacent Gym so bring gym gear with you. Would certainly stay here again

"Wish I'd chosen elsewhere"
witneytraveller, 03 Juillet 2016

Rooms are good size and functional, but that's about all this hotel has going for it, based on our visit two days ago. Very unfriendly receptionist,( I felt sorry for the trainee working with her!), bar and restaurant closed at lunchtime!, breakfast choices poor and uninviting, was told breakfast wasn't included (£11:95 extra), but it had been paid for in our room rate, glad we were only there one night!

"Secure and welcoming."
dix0nhc, 24 Juin 2016

Last week my partner had a room at this hotel and I joined her later. Reception staff were friendly on check in and helped us with a couple of minor issues such as needing replacement towels and a problem with the TV. We had a nice meal in the Italian restaurant although I found it strange that none of the staff were Italian serving on the day. The big man in the grey suit was at times over friendly. When we eat we like to be able to without the feeling watched and possibly rushed. If I wish to purchase drinks I will call when I want them not be hounded. My compliments to the Chef as the food was delicious. After the meal we had a late drink in the bar as there were still several people in there. It was also nice to see that the late barman took an interest in keeping the attitude of the group sitting at the sofa by the bar in order. One of these people were being over the top swearing and generally being obnoxious but the barman dealt with it quickly in a way that the man swearing had to behave or leave.Later that night It was clear that the barman was more than just this as after the bar closed he was using reception and letting people in and out under lock and key. I noticed this because I smoke an wanted to go out for a cigarette. I apologized for disturbing him and he just said no problem and that I could go in and out as much as I wanted but would have to ring the bell to come back in. I asked why and he explained company policy for insurance fire and other reasons too many to name the doors had to be locked for the night . I thought this was a very secure set of rules and it made me confident that this was a good choice hotel overall. The following morning we had breakfast served by the man called Steve a very very nice man who knew exactly how to make us feel welcome and I noticed he had a great rapport with the night staff. The breakfast was quickly served and very nice.

"Great service"
hansuth1, 21 Juin 2016

Didn't have a great start with the booking. I was given the wrong room price twice as the person on the phone seemed to think that saying 'in total' means the price PER NIGHT. Personally, when I ask for the total price I want to know how much I'm paying for my whole stay. However, the rest of my stay was faultless. All staff were friendly and helpful, especially the concierge who couldn't do enough for us. We had a meal on our first night. Varied menu, reasonable prices, not too long a wait for the food. The rooms were spacious & clean with a very comfortable bed. I would definitely stay again.

"Family gathering"
Victoria G, 21 Juin 2016

Hotel seemed modern, clean etc, but sooo noisy. We had a Ground floor room and they may as well not had glass in the windows as you could hear everything outside as if it was in the room. Another annoyance was that although they advertise family rooms... It is only for a family of 3.luckily we managed to get adjoining rooms with the grandparents who could have one of the children in their room. The zbeds provided were in a dangerous state. Multiple springs missing sharp broken metal edges. We kept the mattress on the floor and asked then to take the bed base away.

"Good quality business type accomodation"
Andy649Herts, 19 Juin 2016

Overnight stay in Chelmsford about 5 min walk to centre. Modern hotel with good facilities and check in/out. Ideal for restaurants and bars as well as for business stays. Cost a little more than other national hotel chains but with better facilities. Good all round stay.

"Noise kept us up both nights"
spaceangelz, 12 Juin 2016

Arriving here, we had high expectations. Staff were friendly, room was clean and modern, WiFi and TV worked perfectly. All was great.....until we needed to sleep. Unfortunately on both nights we were kept awake for hours as the girls in the next room stayed up talking. Now the girls weren't being particularly loud, its just the walls were paper thin meaning we could hear everything! For the amount we paid, we would have expected at least some soundproofing of the rooms.

"Good hotel poor room"
JillW4448, 03 Juin 2016

we have stayed here before and the room was lovely, this time we were given a room that was well furnished but it was over some sheds so our window was about 2 foot deep and very high up so you had to be almost on tiptoes to see out so it left the room feeling more like a cell. we did say as we left that we were disappointed, the gentleman on reception told us it was one of their worst rooms. as we wouldn't be spending a great deal of time (sleep and shower) I didn't complain, but if we go again I will specifically ask not to be in those rooms (there were 3 like this).

"Rude Staff"
claudiamccabe67, 31 Mai 2016

Had a terrible experience at this hotel - encountered the most outrageously rude member of staff upon my return to the hotel at around half one in the morning. Upon attempting to enter the hotel a member of staff physically obstructed the door to the hotel and refused myself and my friends entry until we had given our names and showed our key cards and stated the names of the room we were in. As only one key card is given out per room half my friends could not give this proof and were denied entry, leaving them in the cold during the early hours of the morning. Upon finally gaining entry into the hotel this member of staff then threatened us that we would be kicked out at the slightest bit of noise. I can understand if we had caused any trouble but this was completely unprovoked and I feel exceptionally victimised on the basis of my age. Given the amount of money paid for this hotel to be prevented from entering our rooms, and treated so rudely by staff I am beyond unimpressed by this hotel.

"Horrendous night staff"
jhf05, 31 Mai 2016

Rude member of staff working the night shift, I don't even know where to begin so I will keep it short and sweet. Member of night staff had an appalling attitude and left me and my mates feeling discriminated against, accommodation was basic but satisfactory yet the whole experience was entirely ruined due a single judgmental member of staff having a power trip. Will not stay here again solely due to this staff members actions.

"Good experience apart from night staff"
ElleD03, 31 Mai 2016

This review in no way reflects the check in member of staff who was polite friendly and sorted our luggage out as had to leave before our rooms were ready, the rooms were clean and beds were comfy. However my complaint is about 1 member of staff who was rude and judgemental. Me and my friends had been at a festival in Upminster and returned to the hotel 1:30/2:00am. After being on our feet all day we were tired but was greeted at the locked hotel door by a man who asked us 'who are you' and 'what are you doing here' preceded to ask us our names room number and identification. While I understand this will be safety policy the way in which he asked us was hostile as if he was a bouncer. He finally let us all in and as we were going up the stairs told us 'keep quite or I'll kick you all out' I entirely feel as though we were pre judged based on our age. Whilst this man may have had a problem with young people going back to the hotel and making noise before there was no need for him to treat us as if we were trouble when we had given him no cause to believe we were. Especially as this was the second night we had stayed and had done nothing wrong the first night. The impression I got was that this individual clearly got a kick out of exerting some sort of power over us, as he could have done the exact same things in a polite way.

"Acceptable, but would ideally expect more for the price "
Nikil R, 31 Mai 2016

Pros: large well decorated rooms, easy parking, free wifi and gym access Cons: noisy neighbours on the first night of our stay- lost a lot of sleep because of this, and it took multiple phone calls for reception to undertake effective intervention. Ground floor room- this was a br irritating. Overall: would stay again but would request a room higher up.

"Standard rooms basic, exec rooms good"
davedarkins, 25 Mai 2016

Convenient for city centre, but on main road so some traffic noise at times, beds comfortable, staff great, restaurant good. Currently renovating rooms, so overall standard improving as was a bit tired.

"Very good stay"
Carol B, 23 Mai 2016

Lovely hotel , handy for walking distance into Chelmsford town. Room was a good size and comfortable. Staff made us very welcome, would certainly use again when we are visiting that area. The whole experience at this hotel was very good.

"Everything you need in a city centre hotel"
Emma R, 23 Mai 2016

Nice hotel, great if you want to be near Chelmsford city centre. It only took us 10 minutes maximum to walk to High Chelmer shopping centre. Free parking too. Room was fine, spacious, lots of mirrors & plug sockets and everywhere was clean. Staff helpful and friendly.

"Conveniently located hotel for Chelmsford Town centre & free parking"
jacpay, 17 Mai 2016

Stayed at this hotel on a Sunday night after a wedding. Rooms were clean, tea & coffee provided in room, staff were very polite and helpful. About a 10 minute walk into Chelmsford town centre and free parking.

"Great Location"
Charlotte K, 09 Mai 2016

My friend and I stayed at the Best Western for one night on Saturday, we decided to choose this hotel as it was in an ideal location for the high street so we didn't have to spend extra money on a taxi. The entrance to the reception was very nice and modern with dimmed lightening within the corridor, we were greeted by a very helpful receptionist who checked us into our room. Once we arrived at our room on the ground floor, we were pleased to see that the room was very clean, tidy and well presented, we also had a large amount of tea and coffee provided which was much appreciated. The bathroom also looked very clean with a small selection of toiletries to use which was handy. The bed itself was a decent size and incredibly comfortable, I was very happy with my stay at the Best Western, Perfect location to the high street, great value for money with a great level of service to go with it. Only slight problem was the fact that we did find it rather difficult to find the parking area to the hotel. Other than that, a great overall experience.

"Great value, clean and comfortable"
Wendy M, 03 Mai 2016

Unprepossessing entrance from car park, but inside reception was smart and stylish. Room was clean, spacious, comfortable. Good price. Short walk from town centre. Italian restaurant on site looked appealing but we'd arranged to meet friends in the town, so didn't try it.

"Decent hotel"
PuertoPollencaFan, 30 Avril 2016

Stayed in this hotel for the first time, and when I entered the hotel it seemed a bit dark and gloomy, with the brown coloured walls. My initial negative impression changed quickly when I met a friendly and helpdul receptionist, and I was sorted instantly! The room was medium size, good desk, great bed, and nice bathroom. Clean all round! Did not eat dinner in the hotel, but had breakfast which was fine, nothing spectacular, but very friendly and helpful staff made the experience good. The ordinary coffee was too weak for me, but I asked for an americano and espresso and this was no trouble. Checked out the next morning without any hassle. Perfect hotel for one night, as single business person, going to the university next door.

"Party"
BevH77, 25 Avril 2016

We stayed here as it was close to a local party we were attending. The staff were extremely helpful and pleasant. Breakfast was good and the atmosphere in the restaurant relaxed and friendly. The location was perfect, being a short walk to the town centre.

"good value for what we paid"
john b, 24 Avril 2016

My Daughter and I stayed here a week ago, in two single rooms which were double room's for the price of a single, and a good size too!, very clean with a good size bath, no complaints at all with the room, however we had breakfast, and here we had a problem, the staff who waited on were very good, but, all the hot food was very cold, I mean not luke warm, but cold, the only hot part of our breakfast was the coffee!!, yes I complained and was not charged, but my point really was how the head waiter just automatically waivered the charge, but didn't seem to be bothered, I felt that this was a regular situation to him and was just used to it. A shame really, the rest of our stay was fine. One final point, the access by car is not that clear, it's off a small side road, and you could end up parking in an area that doesn't belongs to the Hotel so, watch for this, would I use this Hotel again, yes, but not for breakfast.

"Accommodation fine restaurant not"
Frank W, 24 Avril 2016

Good location for exploring chelmsford and District once you find your way into the car park entry is tucked away behind next door car wash. Rooms are travel lodge style, functional and clean although we did find ours facing onto car park somewhat noisy as the vent above the double glazed window would not close, bedside lights refused to work so some attention from maintenance required. The in house italian restaurant was clean staff were welcoming and pleasant regretfully food was not pleasant my wife was served a great block of pasta which was supposed to be lasagne, clearly cooked some while before we arrived and banged in the microwave when ordered, my pasta Arabiata was a little better it was at least fresh and hot but tasted of little other than the tomato based sauce. Breakfast proved disappointing a regulation buffet but bacon undercooked and cold, strange tasting sausage. They have a nice facility but need to work on the food offering, trim the menu down a bit , check food temperatures regularly easy really, overall disappointing as best westerns we have used in other locations have delivered better.

"Bang for your buck at this hotel"
SalomeArezzo, 23 Avril 2016

We stayed 4 nights in this hotel, selected as a strategical point of departure for tours in the wonderful Essex, but also in Canterbury, Dover, Norwich and London, every place easily reachable by car or train. The room and bathroom were pristine, the bed very comfortable, and we had plenty of complimentary beverages and snacks at our disposal. Breakfast was always abundant and various, with some dishes freshly cooked. The staff professional and helpful, both at the hotel reception and in the brakfast room. We also tried the restaurant, and it was absolutely savoury and flavourful, showing a wide choice of Italian specialties - which we, as Italians, could really enjoy and recognize as genuine traditional Italian food. In summary, we'll certainly come back to this hotel.

"Rooms need redecorating/good clean"
839vm, 19 Avril 2016

Found staff either un trained or extremely rude, room was noisy as on ground floor next to lobby and car park, room was not clean. net curtains were grey, curtains were old and shabby, bathroom needed up dating

"Great location fantastic staff"
34beverleyh, 19 Avril 2016

The hotel is a 5 minute walk into the centre of Chelmsford in a quiet location. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Room was clean and the bed very comfortable. The shower was excellent, instant pressure and heat. The staff bent over backwards to make our daughters 21st birthday extra special leaving a bottle of Prosecco in the room for her arrival, very nice touch and much appreciated. There was plenty of car parking spaces when we stayed.

"Good hotel apart from the noisy heating system"
Tony D, 18 Avril 2016

This is a great place to stay, what you would expect from a hotel of this standard, and I would have given four stars if it were not for the heating system. Rooms comfortable and clean, and restaurant food was good. Wifi also reasonably fast. A good nights sleep is what you expect in a hotel room, but I was woken up several times by the large air conditioning unit in the room. I set it to heat and 20C and it was silent, however, when temperature went below the setting the unit woke up to what sounded like a jet engine in the silence of night. This obviously happened several times during the night... Can I suggest that these units are replaced with something a little more conducive to a good nights sleep?

"Don't ever book for large groups....they can't cope!"
Duncan S, 11 Avril 2016

We booked for a large group 20+ people. No reception service to mention. Rooms were standard size and overall everything was clean. We booked for a meal in the restaurant with the family and the bride for the evening before the wedding - which was farcical - most of the guests waited for over an hour and a half to be served, whilst some of the group had received two courses. Food was average. Breakfast on the 2nd morning was completely disorganised with no cutlery, bowls, menus. Staff being sent home, and although staff were friendly, communication was a problem as the manager tried manfully to hold things together. To cap it all after spending thousands of pounds over the weekend on our booking, we were then charged when one of our toddlers was sick in the room, and after being told not to worry when we offered to clean - they charged us for the cost of another nights stay. Further communication culminated in rude and curt responses from management with no mention even of an apology for the fact that such a large booking were left so disappointed for a wedding party travelling far and wide. Steer clear!

"Good hotel"
LondonSmokey, 10 Avril 2016

We stayed here for one night. Room was good size, clean and quiet. We had a good nights sleep. Breakfast was very good lots of choice. Friendly staff I would recommend this hotel. Very near station and shopping and good to get anywhere in Essex by car.

"Clean with good sized room and great restaurant"
Choolia, 31 Mars 2016

We stayed here whilst meeting up with friends at the hotel restaurant, which is very good and worth a visit in its own right. Our room was a good size and bathroom clean. Hotel staff were helpful and accommodating. We did have a skip right outside of our bedroom window, but we didn't come here for the view, so it didn't really matter! Good hotel for the price and centrally located.

"Good but not 5 star. "
DangerousPaddy, 27 Mars 2016

This was a highly pleasant stay in a decent hotel. The reception was well presented and staff helpful as we were confusing them I think. I really don't get other people's comments on it being dated, pretentious customers I feel. The rooms were clean, tidy with plenty of space and the beds are enormous. A concern for the management would that there was a little mould around the window. Not enough for the room to have a problem as I only noticed when leaving. Breakfast was great and staff so polite. Food was a little slow for just a cooked breakfast but worth the wait. It may have just been my hangover causing the impatience. We had a drink in the bar on the Thursday evening and weekend that was a little lifeless. But it was good of the staff to stay open for us. One note though is to check the heating. We arrived at 8pm and were straight out for dinner. Came back to the bar and by the time we got to the room went straight to bed. Woke up at half 5 in the morning covered in sweat as it was set at 25 degree c. Totally ridiculous. Otherwise a good stay.

"Visiting friends"
Isabella S, 23 Mars 2016

Quite nice hotel. Not alot of atmosphere at reception. The room was a good size and the bathroom was nice and clean. But unfortunately the room had an unpleasant odour. I thought after the room was aired it would be fine. But the next day it was just the same. Tried to get another room but none available. The restaurant had nice, helpful, cheery staff. The food was lovely with very fresh produce. Would I stay again NO Would I eat in the restaurant YES

"Mid range hotel, very noisy but great breakfast"
CarrieandGeorge78, 17 Mars 2016

There was no lift so bags have to be carried upstairs. The room was a good size and the bedding was clean. There were nice complimentary toiletries and the bath was clean with a good supply of hot water. The breakfast was very nice indeed, freshly cooked full English and nice fresh croissants. Altogether not bad value. The wifi was free. There was a lot of noise outside of my bedroom window until quite late.

"OK"
SMR P, 17 Mars 2016

Only stayed one night but the room was spacious, clean and well furnished. Although the hotel appeared quite busy the room qas quiet and we got a good night's sleep. Breakfast was good and the service was fine.

"Sky TV was a nice touch"
Simon M, 11 Mars 2016

I've struggled to find a decent hotel between Colchester and Chelmsford that was central, affordable and met my needs. I was initially given the key to a dirty room that was yet to be cleaned before being changed to a clean room. This was my only minor niggle with the stay and I'm happy to chalk this up to human error. The rooms were a good size with enormous beds to lounge around in, the bathrooms had a nice tiled finish with a large shower head fitted over the bath to give a good high quality hot morning shower although the bath is a little smaller than what I'm used to. A big win for me was having Sky installed in the rooms so there was a very good variety of TV available in the evening, some hotels struggle with basic freeview so this feature gets thumbs up from me. The restaurant food was limited to a handful of Italian dishes and what I had was enjoyable, being so close to the town centre you're spoilled for choice of food so I can see why the menu is kept at a manageable level. There was a little road noise in the morning but no more than expected. I'd certainly book another stay here as I got a decent nights sleep with no complaints and was only a 5-10 minute walk from the station.

"Need to do better"
Matt J, 28 Février 2016

The hotel is dated and in need of modernisation, the free internet was ok not really high speed but just enough to use Netflix. The main issue is the in room heating, it was an aircon / heating unit that when it was on was extremely noisy, when off there was a cold breeze coming in from the back of the unit which soon chilled the room down.

"Nice stay at the Best Western Atlantic"
Pittsford2, 22 Février 2016

I booked this hotel as I was attending a wedding nearby. The room was modern with an excellent king size bed that was very comfortable. It was very clean and tidy. The normal check in time is 3pm but we arrived at 1pm to see if we could get a room to change in. Our rooms were ready and the helpful receptionist let us check in early. We paid for breakfast up front to get a discount down to £8.95 and the full English was very good with good quality ingredients. All in all a pleasant experience.

"Awful Hotel"
KatharineM2014915, 30 Janvier 2016

Our room, and in fact the whole corridor smelled awful. We paid for a family room but the children's bed was utterly ridiculous. There was no way my daughter could sleep on it, it was lumpy and saggy to the extreme! We paid the same as other members of our family at a different local hotel and they got breakfast (and a pleasant room) we didn't, we would have had to pay another £10 each. Oh yes the bath was gross and the shower curtain disgusting.....we decided to wait until we got home. We were lucky we only booked one night. Don't stay there whatever you do, there are much nicer hotels locally for the same price and you get breakfast!

"Great Stay. Great Hotel"
Katie-Jayne H, 25 Janvier 2016

We booked this hotel for a last minute night away. From the outside it looks basic and the are not so great but it really surprised, The décor was modern and immaculate our room was way above what we expected (it looked brand new) the hotel was central to everything perfect distance to town and great restaurants you could walk to. it was also only 30 minutes to Colchester Zoo. Overall we were very happy with our stay and would not think twice about visiting again.

"Looks can be deceiving"
djworm, 23 Janvier 2016

Wasn't sure I'd made the right decision when I pulled up in the car park, however once I got inside I was very happy with my choice. The hotel was nicely decorated and the staff extremely helpful. Couldn't really fault the room or my breakfast the following morning. Would certainly stay here again.

"Don't "
nICE1m8ey, 09 Janvier 2016

Stayed at many budget hotels and never had any issues but...... Sorry, too much to say, so please, just don't. Rooms are shabby, service is... Well, sort of service, the place acts like a poor version of Faulty Towers, without the comedy! Needs to bring itself into the 21st century by a long way. Friends staying in local pubs have cheaper accommodation and laughing at this.

"Great service, good quality hotel"
RGM2605, 16 Décembre 2015

From the moment I enter the hotel I tend to get a feel of how my stay will be. Reception staff were exceptionally helpful. The room was average, it was what you would expect from a 3 star room. Although I had a great nights sleep. I had room service on my first night and the food was very nice and the service was friendly. There was a range of options at breakfast. Although this hotel did not have a gym, there were 2 gyms you could use for free within a 2 minute walk.

"Our Xmas Party - 4th December 2015 - Xchanging"
Julie R, 06 Décembre 2015

We arranged our Xmas party in the Sapori Restaurant at this hotel and had a brilliant time. There were 40 of us and without exception we all had great fun. Food was terrific service exceptional nothing was too much trouble. D.J had us dancing until mid-night. A few of us stayed overnight and could not fault the rooms which were perfect.

"Like home from home"
NeensChelmsford, 04 Décembre 2015

I use this hotel a lot for business and the staff are always so courteous, helpful and welcoming. Would highly recommend staying here for business or pleasure. The restaurant within the hotel does fabulous food also.

"Pleasantly surprised."
pete l, 28 Novembre 2015

Arrived at the hotel in the early evening after a long day at work, check in was smooth enough, got to my room and wow! Pleasantly surprised. I get the feeling that the hotel has undergone a recent refurbishment. Very modern, very clean and very comfortable. I dined in the restaurant & found it a very good experience. No complaints from me & I look forward to returning.

"Trying to be balanced is tough!"
oparcell, 24 Novembre 2015

We have stayed here three times without incident but on our mist recent stay to visit friends in Writtle we had a disastrous stay. We don't tend to arrive until late in the evening, we put our son down at friends house and he sleeps there until we are ready to leave. Upon arriving at the hotel, the extra bed we had requested and paid for wasn't in the room, despite me questioning this as i checked us in, I was assured it was ready. We then brought child in from the car fast asleep only to find it wasn't there. These things happen from time to time, i can accept that. But already having had a disturbed night we were woken up at 3:30 by revellers returning to the hotel from a night out. This again i accept can happen. But the fact we had been placed in a room with an adjoining door, meant that it sounded like the party goers were actually in the room with us! It wakes us all up and the night manager was called. I didn't really make much difference though as normal levels of conversation could be heard through the door. It really was unacceptable levels of noise filtering through. I just can't see any need for connecting rooms, certainly not if they are not adequately sound proofed. To top off a disappointing stay, Breakfast on Sundays isn't served till 8 and I was playing golf at 8 so had to leave without any. When I complained at reception in the morning about our rather disturbed night I was informed that all complaints had to be put in writing to the manager. I don't think the onus should be on the customer to report a poor experience, it should be in the interest of the establishment to gather the feedback, and act accordingly when it has not reached the minimum standards expected. I re-iterate that we have stayed here before without issue, But based on our experience this time, we will most definiently not be back.

"Two night stay"
Karen D, 10 Novembre 2015

We stayed for two nights so we could visit family. The receptionist was very polite and friendly when we booked in. Room large, clean and warm, comfy beds and nice big towels in the bathroom also plenty of tea/coffee on the tray - bottle of water was a nice touch and not something we usually find in this type of accommodation. Only real noise was the fireworks around the town on Saturday. We did not have breakfast as we thought it a bit expensive as we don't eat a big breakfast so cannot comment.

"Convenient hotel"
Greg C, 02 Novembre 2015

My wife and I stayed for three days last week, room was a good size and clean. Shower was basic over the bath type. Breakfast was very good and served with a smile. However on Friday, our last day, we decided to have dinner in the hotel since it was raining outside. Bad decision. My wife's tuna was mushy and the rest of the meal was barely mediocre. We were very disappointed with the meal. In conclusion, hotel room and breakfast very good. Dinner avoid.

"Great stay"
Tracie C, 22 Octobre 2015

We stayed at The Best Western Atlantic hotel last weekend for our nieces wedding and we found it a very nice hotel, the rooms were a good size, the bed was huge and comfy, there was plenty of tea and coffee. The breakfast was great both mornings we were there, the Friday morning it was a cooked to order and Saturday it was help yourself, both which were very good! We ate in the Italian restaurant on the Friday night and the food was fabulous and very reasonable priced! The wifi worked very well in the room and the rooms had a hair dryer, iron and ironing board and toiletries! The staff taff were very friendly and helpful and we would definitely recommend the hotel to our friends and family!

"Nice rooms and convenient "
Legoman1958, 20 Octobre 2015

Hotel has clean and comfortable rooms. Some noise from the car park and road buy doesn't ruin your sleep. Wireless Internet access very good in the room and around the hotel. Breakfast is good quality good selection of hot and cold food Restaurant quite expensive and quality of food is bot hit or miss certainly some of the selections are straight out of the Iceland freezer but if you stick to the Italian basics the food is very good Would I stay again probably not as the restaurant let's the stay down

"Overnight stay for son's graduation"
V138, 08 Octobre 2015

We stayed here overnight as a family group of six for my son's graduation, as it is only a 2 minute walk from Anglia Ruskin University. Rooms were clean, spacious and comfortable and although we were on the ground floor close to reception we were not disturbed and had a very good nights sleep. The buffet breakfast was very tasty and had a good selection and the staff were friendly and extremely helpful. Would definitely stay again.

"room good but avoid breakfast and all the bird s**t"
bigniv, 05 Octobre 2015

Last Saturday night I stayed at the Best Western Atlantic Hotel in Chelmsford, and whilst I had no issue with the pleasant and welcoming male member of the reception staff on Saturday afternoon and the room, I have strong issues with the breakfast area and the standard of breakfast served. Whilst it is fair for me to highlight the two young ladies working in the breakfast area were polite and helpful, there was nobody around in the breakfast area to greet us and show us the procedure - whether we should wait to be seated or whether we should sit and someone would be with us. After a couple of minutes standing around and no-one helping we decided to sit ourselves down, but no-one came over to us for the next five minutes. I decided to go up to the serving desk to ask for our order, and a member of staff asked us to sit down as she would come over and take our order, which she duly did. We then had to wait about 15 minutes for the food to arrive which seemed unusually long for a breakfast, considering much of the food was pre-prepared - the Hash-browns were on a platter under the hotplate and the tomatoes were on a tray in the warming oven and I'm sure other components of the breakfast were part prepared. When the food arrived the hash-browns were greasy and mushy, the eggs were over done and solid, the tomatoes were dried and shrunken so much you could hardly cut into them and they had completely missed off the black pudding. When we asked for the black pudding the waitress went off to ask the chef to get some. We then waited a further ten minutes for this to arrive, but by the time it did all the rest of our food was cold. Even this black pudding was poorly 'cooked' - it had not been fried as normal but had just been slightly warmed (in the microwave?) so was the consistency of paste. I love black pudding and will always order it when it is available, but in am 46 and in 30 years of eating it I have never seen it served like that because it is a very unpleasant way of eating it. All this lead to a very unsatisfying breakfast that both literally and figuratively left a bad taste in our mouths, but this wasn't the most unpleasant aspect of the breakfast. A particularly nauseating issue we had was that there was a three foot long deposit of bird faeces streaked down the window I was facing into the restaurant which I found disgusting. I can imagine the other people sat immediately next to the excrement were equally disgusted. When I complained about the breakfast to the member of staff on reception (I think her name was Marina) I mentioned this rather foul decoration and she replied: "Well, we can't do anything about that. The cleaner comes in once in a while and he's the only one that does it" I asked her whether it was ok for the hotel to sit diners facing a streak of faeces - to which she again replied there was nothing she could do and any complaints should be referred to the manager. •IF YOU HAVE A RESTAURANT YOU CANNOT HAVE DINERS SAT NEXT TO ANIMAL FAECES. IT IS DISGUSTING TO DO THIS. •IF YOU HAVE A RESTAURANT YOU HAVE TO HAVE SOMEONE IN CHARGE AND PRO-ACTIVE ENOUGH TO NOTICE THESE THINGS, AND IMMEDIATELY SORT THEM OUT BEFORE SITTING DINERS IN VIEW OF OR NEXT TO ANIMAL FAECES. IT IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH TO ALLOW THIS TO HAPPEN. •WHEN CUSTOMERS COMPLAIN ABOUT PROBLEMS LIKE THIS STAFF SHOULD IMMEDIATELY SORT THIS OUT, NOT COMMENT THEY "CAN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT". IT IS DISGRACEFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE TREAT CUSTOMERS LIKE THIS. Marina did then offer to take the cost of the breakfast off our bill, which she subsequently did, but let me be clear - this was not a good enough reaction to our complaint and it is unprofessional to have a restaurant with your customers being served food next to a massive streak of faeces which was there this morning and I'm sure would stay there until the window cleaner next comes - another month maybe? I left your hotel feeling queasy from the horrible breakfast, nauseated by the view from the restaurant and angry at the lack of management from your staff. When I asked to speak to the duty manager I was told that: "There are no managers on at the weekend" I emailed the manager all of my concerns on Sunday afternoon - it is now Tuesday evening and I have yet to receive the courtesy of a reply. Is ANY of the above good enough???

"Fine"
Andrew M, 02 Octobre 2015

Room was clean and comfortable. Bathroom was clean but not spotless. Staff were friendly. Breakfast was poor. I was there for 4 nights and was unable to avail of the cook-to-order breakfast for 2 mornings due to a conference in the dining room.

"Moody staff. Fleeced me for £70"
MLShanahan, 28 Septembre 2015

Man on reception was miserable and unenthusiastic when we arrived. I had to do a pre authorisation payment of £175 even though the room was £105 so I went over drawn with my bank for 3 days before the £70 was refunded. I queried this and the woman I spoke to on the phone from the hotel basically called me a liar. Only good thing was the man who served us breakfast was excellent.

"Avoid if you can"
Djaypee38, 26 Septembre 2015

Not very welcoming staff, continental breakfast really standard, restaurant is more a snack and food is so average, my coke glass was smelling bleach so strongly i could not drink it... Service i long, menu absolutely non inventive... Room ok but to the lowest best western standard, will not come back, it is also very expensive for the quality
