Le Carline, Sure Hotel Collection by Best Western

Great small hotel on the outskirts of the town but only a few minutes walk to the tram. Free parking with 4 EV chargers available. It is located near the University and student accommodation and a very large hospital. It was busy during our 1 night stay but there was no problem getting a table in the restaurant for dinner. We both enjoyed a very good 3 course meal for a reasonable price. There was a chilled buffet selection for the starter and pudding, no restriction on how many times you visited it. The house wine was so good we had a couple of refills. Breakfast was a very good selection and they actually had decent de-caff coffee served in a cafetiere. We would happily stay here again, if you are visiting the Caen WWII Museum it is only a 10 minute drive away.

Our go to hotel when staying in Caen. Friendly and efficient staff, lovely restaurant with good food. Have been 3 times. It is also situated in a very quiet area, (next to the hospital).

Recently had a 4 night stay here during our Battlefield tour with Leger holidays. What a great place! Yes the rooms are small with limited storage but we managed just fine. Super comfy bed, spotlessly clean and a great shower. The staff were AMAZING, nothing was too much trouble for them. Bar was excellent, food was really good at both breakfast and dinner (reasonably priced too 24 euros for 3 courses) and the restaurant was lovely. Really quiet in the bedrooms too. Genuinely can't fault it

We enjoyed a 4 night stay here during a D DAY Battlefield Tour with Leger Holidays. We had a couple of negatives, but this didn't really detract from our overall experience. We would agree with other travellers that the rooms are small which in turn restricts the storage space. Perhaps higher beds could be put in so at least you could put your cases/bags underneath? The evening meals could have been enhanced with a variation of veg as it was Green Beans EVERY night, this aside the food was very good with fabulous mashed potatoes. Overall the Carline is a great place for a short break. Spotlessly clean in ALL areas with a comfortable, friendly well stocked & affordable bar(UK take note). A bright & airy restaurant & most of all, FABULOUSLY FRIENDLY & HELPUL STAFF. Thankyou for a GREAT STAY!!

Overall, this hotel was okay. Generally pleasant stay. This was part of Leger Tours arrangemnt. The staff was very nice and helpful! The rooms felt very small and cramped, but we weren't spending all that much time in the rooms outside of sleeping. The breakfast spread was decent, even for semi-picky eater like me. My dad had fun figuring out the coffee machine. Hehe. I think he ended up with a double espresso! haha! :) Helpful for those early mornings! I had also gotten the dinner package. Dinner was okay, edible. I only did the one night and tried the Buffalo Grill next door the second night. So if ou get the package, dinner isn't too bad. I think prepay is less expensive, if you want to save a few Euros.

Lovely clean room. Comfortable bed although single a little narrow. Food very nice good choices and plentiful. There is a choice of main evening meal, also a buffet of starters which is almost a meal on its own. Afterwards there is a buffet of desserts which if you are naughty like me you can take two. Staff all spoke perfect English. Has a friendly bar for an evening catch up. Pretty garden

This hotel is very good, tram stop close by to get into the centre of Caen. The staff were excellent really helpful. The rooms a small but you are only sleeping in there, the breakfast is continental with scrambled eggs and bacon plenty of food the evening meal was a set menu but you can order either one course two or three. The area is quiet at the weekends don't know what's it's like during the week. There is an American style grill round the corner never went so can't comment.

Was with Leger Holidays, was a bit nervous about the hotel, the only gripe was the rooms were a bit small and the corner rooms had 2 security doors, but good ambience , food and beer. The hotel was very clean and nice to be there. It was a bit out the way but there is a tram going into Caen on the doorstep.

I liked this small, friendly hotel. The rooms had been refurbished and on arrival, were clean and welcoming and amply big enough for short stays. There was a pleasing variety of food on the Continental breakfast and I can recommend the delicious scrambled egg! The evening meal always featured a cold buffet which was a useful addition to the set menu. I found the choice of dishes to be adequate, and the meals were well cooked. I was particularly impressed that, when our Coach party left round 5 am, there was breakfast laid out for us, same as any other day. Full marks to the hotel for this. Facilities to make tea would have been welcome as I'm not a coffee-drinker and wished I had taken my travel kettle and maybe another shelf space for clothes? I stayed three days and enjoyed my stay. Full marks to the helpful, pleasant staff.

We stayed here during our D-Day Landings Tour with Leger, we are surprised Leger still use them. The good points, just had a full refurb, so everything is new, clean and up to date, breakfast and sweet selections outstanding. The bad points, on arrival we were given key to our room only to find it had not been cleaned following the previous occupant. See pics. I say room, more like a 'walk in' cupboard with a bed in. Very little storage space, big enough for one person but not a couple. The set evening meal main course, although looking good, see pic, was not anything special and the mains for a vegetarian non existent. If you didn't fancy a plain omelette each night you could have three items from the 'sides'. see pic. I was told I couldn't even have a cheese omelette as a variant. I intend to travel with Leger again but not if they are planning on using this hotel.
