The place to be if you're not looking for a strictly business hotel, but want to be wellcomed with a smile and stay in a somewhat older but typical centre of Le Havre building with a huge choice of restaurants and parking near by. Limited yet excellent choice of local products for breakfast as well. Some form of cooling or AC would be wellcome in the warmer months.
We spent 1 night here visiting a family friend before catching a ferry. We had a room on the top floor overlooking the Volcan. The room was small and I wouldn't have wanted to spend too many nights here, but it was clean and well equipped, for example with USB ports on each side of the bed. The breakfast was fine and there are plenty of restaurants in the area. Staff were helpful and welcoming. We parked in the public carpark opposite the hotel.
I had a good room with a view over the plaza. Unfortunately, the streets are overflowing with trash, but that should not go beyond the hotel and this review. he breakfast is okay. Very VERY small gym. The gym i located in a small room which is also a conference room.
The hotel is located right on the main square of Le Havre next to spectacular public library designed by Oscar Niemeyer. The hotel's location also make the rooms a bit noisy, as the noise from the street cafés downstairs can be heard in the rooms. The hotel does not have its own restaurant, however, there's plenty of eating places around the hotel. The breakfast buffet is quite simple, with some bread, cheese and cereals. There are good parking facilities nearby the hotel in an underground parking cellar below the public library.
Phillipe owns the Hotel. He and his staff give outstanding customer experience which leads to great customer service. He is knowledgeable, friendly and very professional. Bedrooms are quite small, but one with a balcony on the 6th floor is just superb. Views are fabulous. Fully recommend this hotel and do talk with Phillipe if you need to know anything about Le Havre. Merci Phillipe
The rooms are ridiculously small. As there was no A/C they provided a noisy fan and we had to sleep with the window open which looked over a square and was noisy. Location was decent but I certainly would not stay again. You could barely wk around the bed.
The location is amazing, bang in the middle of town and a 15 min walk to the beach. The room was spacious and clean, complete value for the price. Everything was great, just wish they had some parking concessions or provisions. And also the breakfast experience was vastly different on Sunday VS Monday, Monday had less options, no timely refills, I suppose due to lower volumes of people eating. But I didn't enjoy the Monday breakfast as much as Sunday!
We stayed in the Best Western Art-apartments flat #2. The BW manages 4 flats though the hotel about 2 blocks from the actual hotel. We booked through the BW website and checked in at the hotel. The flat is a 2 floor walkup. The one we were in is not the one pictured on their website. The sleep sofa was in need of TLC. Each window had one large curtain. One in the sitting room where the sleep sofa was located was falling down. It's summer. Sunrise is ~0530 and sunset is 2230. The kitchen was adequate. The washer was loud but worked. The bathroom was small. The shower, telephone kiosk size, was in need of a thorough scrubbing and the glass shelf above the sink kept falling as it wasn't properly mounted. Positives: great location. In spite of all the bars and restaurants close by it was very quiet at night. Safe. Street parking was plentiful. Negatives: it needs some TLC. I'm also a member of AirBNB. When one books on AirBNB the accommodation pictured is what you're supposed to get. I feel like the nicest flat is the only one they have pictured. Even though we booked through BW, there is no housekeeping services. No towel exchange, refresh of toiletries or even extra toilet paper. They clean at the end of the stay but we washed the towels and bought TP.
I stayed for work (3 nights) and I enjoyed the hotel -- I had trouble with the wifi in my first room so they were very nice to move me to another where it worked better. The location is good and everyone who worked there was welcoming and nice. Elevator is fun!
The hotel is situated in the centre of Le Havre and is a good location to explore the city. The city tour starts right outside the door across the square. The lift is very interesting, as it looks like a shower :-). I haven't used breakfast, so cannot review that.
Bestwestern Art Hotel is only Hotel in Le Havre, France that I will stay in during my visit. My Father stayed in this Hotel under a different name nearly 70 years ago shortly after WWII. I enjoy the wonderful breakfast and kind and helpful staff. Best central location! Near Ferry, shopping and main attractions!
We booked a room supposedly “with a view” and arrive in a tiny room with a view on a taco restaurant. We were staying just for one night in Le Havre which I was too excited about so I wanted to make the best out of it and that's when we decided to ask for something better. The reception desk staff assisted us in the kindest way to make our experience one of a kind. We ended up paying 20€ more only to get the best room in the hotel. Corner room with large terrasse view on the harbor and the Volcanos on the sixth floor. The rest was up to the weather to make the view even more breathtaking.
Great location, noisy at night with about 3 bars open in the same square No air-conditioning. Small rooms but manageable. Very small toilet/bathroom. Toilet seat was a serious squeeze bigger people will struggle fit on in room 62. Public car park across the road. We found the local drunk sleeping lift of car park inside when we arrived and had to use same lift because the car park is so secured. Arrived late evening no one on reception had to call the emergebcy number
If you need to be downtown, it's survivable. What makes the experience bad, is the staff at the reception. We came with a group, had just a little time to rest before the next point on the schedule and it took 25 minutes to get the keys to the rooms. The situation was unpleasant and didn't get any better even, if a lady showed up, who seemed to be the manager. There is no eye contact, no "hello" or "bonjour". Makes the impression of bad programmed humanoid roboters. When we arrived late evening, no welcome, no "hello" or "bonsoir" as well. Rooms are noisy, walls prezzy thin. We have been booked to this hotel and had no choice. Would definitely not recommend and absolutely not come back.
The hotel location is excellent, but the rooms aren't anything more than two stars, the hotel building is probably one star, the lift is a shower and can only take one person with a suitcase at a time! The breakfast is abysmal so don't even bother with it (food served out of tins), the staff for the most part aren't great or friendly, except one or two that are nice, the rest are rude and useless and there's probably only one person who speaks English in the entire hotel! Overall the hotel is probably a two star at max!
never seen such a tiny room in a hotel room, bed way too big for the room, couldnt move around at all, dirty carpet, dirty towels.... had to wait 2 hours before checking in because no one at the reception, noticed the hotel they I will arrive at 15h but reception was closed until 17h and they didnt noticed me...never ever again..
No parking! Park on the street and feed the meters or find a public garage somewhere- ending up in another building (see below) didn't help the situation. Staff was not much help with this. Had to move the car and feed the meters every 2 hours or every 12 - if you were lucky enough to find a 12 hour spot. Hotel reservations were messed up, the room we booked wasn't available - booked 3 months ahead!. We are used to small - it's France - but our first night was to be in a room so small we couldn't even walk around the bed! After complaining we were moved to a one bedroom apartment almost 5 blocks away. The staff were accommodating and helpful, but when you are exhausted from a full day of traveling and can't relax in the room you've booked it doesn't leave a good impression. A staff member walked with us to the apartment - we would have never found it - which was nice, but not being within the hotel facility we did not choose to walk all the way to have breakfast either morning, even though we had paid for it. Nor could we get extra amenities such as toilet paper, tissues, etc. The hotel might have been very nice, if we'd been able to stay there, but as it was, the parking and the reservation situations were a mess. We were exhausted instead of rested. Would not stay here again.
My favorite, friendly staff, great unreal breakfast, central location....love it! Have stayed here many times, Father stayed here right after the invasion of Normandy. My family lives nearby, great location...friendly near beach, train, ferry to GB...auto route to Paris nearby, Le Havre is an interesting city, nice beach, great food...best city to see great ships come into harbor..
Not really much to say when you sleep in a room of less the 10 sqm, bathroom and wardrobe included, no air condition, for over 110 euro, breakfast NOT INCLUDED. Not bad ?? What is incredibile? Hotel was fully booked. People at the frontdesk are very kind
Decor was different and pleasant. Found the staff very friendly and helpful. Our room on the 3rd floor was overlooking the Vulcan, excellent view and central to all places of interest. Check out the lift!!!
Great eclectic place to stay. Breakfast was great tasting and nice choice! Personnel so very nice & helpful! Sites and restaurants nearby. Bar next door offers great beers to be had on terrace or outside.
I had a Very Pleasant stay at the Best Western Art Hotel in Le Havre. It is very close to almost evrything you want to do in Le Havre,The rooms are comfortable and the breakfast has good variety.I was surprised with the bacon and scrambled eggs and all so well presented. It was a pity i coudld not stay any longer as it was fully booked Reinhart de Kok South Africa
We were making our way back to Ouistreham after a long road trip though France, and having stayed at this hotel before and liked it, we thought we would stay again. Now this hotel is great quirky style nice rooms good bathroom and loo, very nice staff and a brilliant breakfast. But be warned, there is no car park. The reception staff will advise you to park down the road in the Green Zone as you can do this for €2 for the night. The area looks nice coffee culture very nice restaurants and bars and you would think your car will be safe there. Well, unfortunately my beloved sports car wasn't. I had the soft top slashed to bits and the body work scratched with a knife. We were devastated and upset, we had had a lovely last night of our holiday in Le Havre and in the hotel, but we probably won't go back there now. The future holds a large new car park right opposite this hotel maybe that will be okay.
Room 36 Great Hotel as always - Great location and very polite and helpful staff Stored our luggage for us on arrival in port at 9am to await our room being ready Check in at 2 and the room was perfect - Bigger than last time (Room 36) with a great view and lovely bathroom ensuite Very comfortable bed, superb double glazing - so sound at all from passing traffic when French doors closed. Breakfast was great as always, bacon, sausage, egg, breads various, yoghurts, fruit etc etc etc. Not many early risers so had the breakfast room to our selves
There are 4 different room sizes so just be sure to check which you want when reserving. The smallest is very small!!!! The location is very good for bars and restaurants. Handy as this hotel does not have its own restaurant.
The hotel is located centrally few mins drive from the central train station. Its like boutique hotel with a lot of modern art and decor all over. The room was decent and the reception staff was helpful. The hotel is small and the breakfast room also is a bit cramped up. Overall a decent hotel in a good location
We stayed here for one night and booked a superior room. Mmmmm I would be interested to see what their standard room would be like. The room was clean enough but was cramped and tired. It was at the back of the hotel but seemed to be next to some bars where drinking went on until 5 am. The rooms were poorly soundproofed and we were disturbed by other guests. Admittedly, not the hotels fault but it didn't add to the experience. Breakfast was pretty good with freshly cooked bacon, sausage and eggs. The staff were pleasant and helpful but parking was a nightmare. There is no hotel car park and you have to find somewhere in the city and be prepared to pay. Also be aware that there is an early street market on a Sunday and you may find your car gets blocked in if you happen to park in the wrong street. The hotel is ideally locatd if you enjoy night life, want to be central to the shops and don't need much sleep.
My primary requirement for a hotel is a good night's sleep. The neighbors were a raging party, the hotel staff refused to allow me to move to a quieter area, insisting the noisemakers would leave to their night job soon. They left for an hour, then the party resumed from 11pm to 3am. Also, the room is small. On the overall it was a miserable experience and I would say you had best reconsider if you have booked this hotel for anything but an all night bash. As a bonus it is across the street from a Construction site, and is on a busy street.
Immensely impressed with the young lad on reception - most helpful. Hotel good, breakfast to the usual continental style - if they run out of food, they go and get some more from the patisserie down the road. Oh and love the elevator/lift What a hoot!! But the view from the room is of some modern art structure over the road. Hideous!!
