"Paris experience"
Excellent hotel, brilliant location in Montmartre, grandaughter(age11) realised her dream to experience Paris in this fabulous hotel. Staff are so helpful and friendly, room was perfect and breakfast just perfect. "Lovely hotel in a great area"
The hotel was lovely and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. This part of Montmatre is great - bohemian with lots going on. Easy access to the metro and easy to get to the centre of Paris.
Dear Daavid-S17, Thank you so much for your wonderful review! 🌟 It's always a pleasure to know that our guests have enjoyed their stay and felt at home with us. Montmartre certainly has its own special charm, and we're delighted you appreciated both the area and the team. "Boutique hotel in central Montmartre."
Comfortable and welcoming, great spot, attention to details. Comfy bed and high quality towels and products. Highly recommend!!

"Disappointed ☹️"
Our room was far too small with very little storage, unlike the photos when booking. The breakfast choice was limited and insufficient; half a very thin, stale French stick, bacon chopped up small presumably to go further and wasn't even available on day 3, watermelon was cut into triangular slices-not even a mouthful, other fruit was mouldy. Dreadful!
Dear Linda H, Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback with us. I am truly sorry that your recent stay did not meet your expectations and that you felt disappointed by the size of your room and the breakfast experience. Concerning the room, I sincerely regret that it did not align with your expectations based on the photographs. Our photos are intended to provide an accurate representation, yet I understand how disappointing it must be when reality falls short. Please know that we are always available at reception to discuss any concerns in real time and, if possible, to find a more suitable alternative. Regarding breakfast, I am especially sorry for the inconvenience you experienced. Your remarks about the variety and freshness of the offerings, as well as the limited availability on certain days, have been noted with great seriousness. I appreciate you alerting us during your stay—following your feedback, we took immediate action to ensure improvements and to prevent such issues from recurring. Your comments are invaluable to us as we continually strive to improve our service. Should you wish to discuss your experience further, please do not hesitate to contact me directly. Literarily yours, Sandrine Lefèvre Director of the Hôtel Littéraire Marcel Aymé****
"What a gem"
We had a great stay. Nice and clean. Price is exceptional. The room was expectedly small but usual for Paris. Were were in room 52. There was a small balcony from which there was a view of the Eiffel Tower! The staff were extremely helpful and pleasant. Easy location in Montmartre. You do have to be comfortable walking hills. We will definitely stay there again.
Dear GRJones3, What a delight to read your review—thank you so much for sharing your wonderful experience with us! 😊✨ We are truly pleased that you enjoyed your stay and appreciated the unique charms of Montmartre (hills and all!). It's heartwarming to know you found our team helpful and the atmosphere inviting. We can't wait to welcome you back for another Parisian adventure! Literarily yours, Sandrine Lefèvre Director of the Hôtel Littéraire Marcel Aymé****
"Spotless, Comfortable, Convenient"
We loved the location and charm of this hotel. Tucked away in a quiet area of Montmartre, this hotel is spotless, convenient, and extremely comfortable (We had a deluxe room, but our friends' standard room was quite cramped). The desk staff was pleasant and helpful, there were always treats and beverages available in the lobby, and there is a lively pub right across the street--but the room was soundproofed against the street noise. Restaurants, shopping, Sacre Couer, the Metro stop, and the Moulin Rouge are all within fairly easy walking distance.
Dear summerbum, Thank you so much for your delightful review! 😊 We're thrilled to know that you enjoyed our hotel's unique charm and the vibrant Montmartre neighborhood. It's wonderful to hear that our team and amenities contributed to a memorable stay. We also appreciate your feedback regarding the room sizes, and we take your comments into consideration as we strive to enhance every guest's experience. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back soon for more Parisian adventures! ✨ Literarily yours, Sandrine Lefèvre
"Very nice hotel only 10 Minutes by foot from Sacre Coer"
We had 2 rooms in the 2rd and 4th floor with our 3 kids. Nice clean and calm rooms with aircon, wifi, coffee/tee maker, shampoo and showering gel. Very friendly and courteous staff, Delicious breakfast with fresh fruit, yogurt, croissants, scrambled eggs, cheese,.... Only negative point is the little space for clothes and towels.
Dear Helbi200, Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience with us! We are truly delighted to hear that you and your family enjoyed your stay and appreciated the atmosphere of our hotel. 😊 It's wonderful to know that our team could contribute to making your visit a pleasant one. We also appreciate your honest comment regarding the space for clothes and towels. Your feedback is important and helps us identify areas where we can improve our guests' comfort. Rest assured, we are always exploring ways to enhance our facilities and will take your remark into consideration. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you and your family again soon for another memorable Parisian adventure! 🥐✨ Literarily yours, Sandrine Lefèvre Director of the Hôtel Littéraire Marcel Aymé****
"Compact and Bijou -"
If, like me, this is your inaugural visit to Mont Marte then this has to be a serious contender! Accommodation perfectly reasonable for the price point! Reception was always on hand to answer any queries! Quiet and yet only a stone's throw from the attractions. Anyone of limited mobility: be advised that MM is characterised by steep climbs and seemingly endless steps!
Dear paulmccrane737, Thank you so much for choosing our hotel for your inaugural adventure in Montmartre! 😊 We're delighted to learn that you enjoyed your stay and found our location and service to be just what you needed for exploring this enchanting neighborhood. We also appreciate your thoughtful note about the steep climbs and steps characteristic of Montmartre—it's certainly a unique part of the area's charm and history, but your advice is very helpful for future guests who may need to take this into consideration. Should your travels bring you back to Paris, we would be most pleased to welcome you again for another literary escapade! Literarily yours, Sandrine Lefèvre Director of the Hôtel Littéraire Marcel Aymé****
"Lovely Stay"
We had a great week at the Hotel Litteraire Marcel Ayme. It was beautiful, well-located, comfortable, and had everything we needed to be happy and enjoy our time in Paris
Dear wakefieldmaryc, Thank you so much for your delightful review and for choosing Hôtel Littéraire Marcel Aymé for your Parisian adventure! We're thrilled to know that your stay brought you happiness and comfort—it means the world to us. Your kind words truly inspire our team to keep creating memorable experiences for our guests. "Hotel with compassion!!"
The entire staff at this hotel was the best we could not have asked for a nicer stay and compassionate staff and general manager. My husband and woke up with terrible flu and the general manager arranged to get a Physician to the hotel so we could be seen. She was so sweet and allowed us to remain in our room until we were to ck into the next hotel at 1pm, which was very close by. Not knowing local medical facilities nor physicians the general manager was a lifesaver helping us. It is especially difficult when one is not from the country where one is traveling. I recommend this hotel when staying in Montmartre as a 5 Star for rooms, comfort and a caring staff. We thank you again for such good care.
Dear Nina C, Thank you so much for your heartwarming words and for sharing your experience with us! 🥰 It means the world to our entire team to know that you felt genuinely cared for during your time at Hôtel Littéraire Marcel Aymé. Traveling can be challenging, especially when unexpected situations arise, so I am truly pleased we could help make things a bit easier for you and your husband. Your recommendation is a wonderful compliment, and we hope to welcome you back soon to Montmartre—with only happy and healthy memories next time! 😊 Literarily yours, Sandrine Lefèvre Director of the Hôtel Littéraire Marcel Aymé****
"A wonderful find in the Montmartre"
A beautiful, clean and intimate hotel in the heart of charming Montmartre. It's to exceptional restaurants and cafes and many individual boutiques. Even so, it was in such a quiet spot that sleeping at night was easy. The staff were friendly, efficient and helpful. They made you feel as if the guests' comfort is of the greatest importance. We were a party of eight friends and each one said that when they return to Paris they will also return to this hotel.
Dear Passport755590, What a delight to read your glowing words! 😊 Thank you so much for sharing your experience at our hotel and for your trust in us during your Parisian adventure with friends. We're overjoyed that your stay in Montmartre was so memorable, and it truly means the world to us that you would choose to return. Our entire team is thrilled to know you felt so welcome and comfortable. We look forward to greeting you and your friends again on your next journey to Paris—your literary home awaits! 📚✨ Literarily yours,
"Great place to stay"
Perfect location for a short stay or weekend break - very easy access to the metro and many great food shops and restaurants. Hotel is very clean and the staff were really helpful and friendly. The street is quiet at night, even on the weekend with a few bars very close by. Would definitely stay here again.
Dear Rkatet, Thank you so much for your wonderful review! 🌟 It warms our hearts to know you enjoyed your stay with us and found everything you needed for a perfect weekend in Paris. Our team truly appreciates your kind words, and we're delighted that you felt welcome and comfortable throughout your visit. We can't wait to host you again for another memorable stay! 😊 Literarily yours, Sandrine Lefèvre Director of the Hôtel Littéraire Marcel Aymé****
"Great hotel"
This is a fabulous hotel, it was our 5th time staying. The hotel is immaculately clean, the staff are all super helpful and friendly. The rooms are nicely decorated and have a good powerful shower. The view of the Eiffel Tower and Paris is awesome from room 52 balcony. Great location and a great place to stay.
Hello ! Thank you so much for your wonderful feedback and loyalty to our hotel! It truly means a lot to us to welcome you back time and again. We're delighted you enjoyed your recent stay and that the magic of Paris from your balcony made your visit memorable. Your kind words put a real smile on our faces! Dear Daniel, Thank you so much for taking the time to share your wonderful experience with us! We're truly delighted that your stay in Paris was enjoyable and that you would recommend our hotel. "Nice"
Took me 30 minutes to walk to hotel from Gare du Nord. Staff were friendly. Room was really small and noisy when other guests were coming and going. Can refill water in breakfast room.
Dear Shalini, Thank you very much for sharing your experience ! We are delighted that you appreciated the friendliness of our staff and services such as the availability of water at breakfast. Our hotel is located in the charming Montmartre neighborhood, and the 30-minute walk from Gare du Nord is quite typical for exploring Paris on foot. The metro also provides a quick and convenient option to reach the city center and main attractions. Regarding the room size, as in many Parisian buildings, the architecture limits space, but we always do our best to optimize comfort and layout for our guests. We apologize if noise from other guests' comings and goings disturbed you and thank you for your feedback. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you again and making your next stay even more enjoyable. Literarily yours, Sandrine Lefèvre Director of the Hôtel Littéraire Marcel Aymé****
"Do not be fooled by website the rooms are tiny cabins"
A mixed bag. Amazing location 30 secs from brasseries, boutiques and food shops. Reception staff could be slow although polite and well meaning. The room was TINY, it's a cabin not a room. Very claustrophobic and impossible for 2 people. Bed was comfortable and very quiet at night but I was shocked at the size for the price and thankfully was staying only one night. This is not normal ‘small rooms in Paris' syndrome, it was very extreme in this hotel. Be prepared.
Dear Kix123, Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed impressions of your recent stay with us. I am delighted that you appreciated our enviable location and the professionalism of our reception team. Your remarks on the comfort and tranquillity of our rooms are also truly valued. However, I sincerely regret that the size of the room did not meet your expectations and caused you discomfort. Please allow me to assure you that all room dimensions are clearly indicated on our official website to provide full transparency prior to booking. We understand that space can be a significant concern, especially when travelling as a pair, and your feedback will serve as an important reminder for us to continually review how we communicate this aspect to our guests. Regarding your experience with our reception staff, I appreciate your candour. We are committed to ensuring swifter service and will address this internally to improve our guests' experience. Should you wish to discuss your stay further, I invite you to contact me directly. Your perspective is essential to our continuous improvement, and I hope we might have the opportunity to welcome you again in the future under more pleasant circumstances. Literarily yours, Sandrine Lefèvre Director of the Hôtel Littéraire Marcel Aymé****
"Best place to stay in Montmartre/Pigalle area"
Stayed 3 nights a few min away from all the beauty of Montmartre and the craziness of Pigalle, yet such a quiet place to refresh and recharge. Small rooms but really functional, amazing staff and a small walk to the closest subway station (Abbesses). Highly recommend to discover or rediscover Paris and its beauty.
Dear Frederic C, What a delight to read your review! Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful experience with us. It warms our hearts to know you enjoyed your stay and that our team helped make your Parisian adventure memorable. 😊 Your recommendation truly means the world to us! We can't wait to welcome you back for another literary escape in Montmartre—there are always more stories to discover. 📚✨ Literarily yours, Sandrine Lefèvre Director of the Hôtel Littéraire Marcel Aymé****
"Excellent base for a city break"
Stayed here for 2 nights on a city break. Hotel was clean, super friendly staff and the bed was very comfortable. Lots of restaurants and bars close by and a nice 5-10 mins walk to Montmartre and Sacre-Couer through the Place du Tetre. Easy to get to from Gare du Nord. We walked and took about 25 mins but you could get the Metro within a 10 min walk. The area was fairly quiet in the evening. The area is quite hilly and probably not suitable for wheelchair users or those who struggle with walking. Closest Metro to get into central Paris was Pigalle and Abbesses. You can also get on at Blanche then change lines which is next to the Moulin Rouge. All within 5-8 mins walk. Would highly recommend!
Dear KateLiv, What a delight to read your wonderful review! 🌟 Thank you so much for choosing our hotel for your Parisian adventure and for sharing your enthusiastic recommendation. It's always our greatest joy to know our guests felt welcome and comfortable during their stay. Your appreciation truly means the world to us! We also appreciate your thoughtful note regarding the neighborhood's hills; your insight will certainly be helpful to future travelers. We hope Paris will call you back soon, and whenever it does, we'll be here to welcome you with open arms and a literary spirit! 📚✨ Literarily yours, Sandrine Lefèvre Director of the Hôtel Littéraire Marcel Aymé****

"What happened to the great hotel we once knew?"
Room was hot, complained to front desk and was told owner had turned off the aircon… helpful! We only stayed one night and couldn't sleep as room was too hot.
Dear dantheman2025, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. I am genuinely sorry to learn of your discomfort during your recent stay, particularly regarding the temperature in your room and the response you received from our team. Allow me to explain that, as we are currently between seasons, the mornings have been quite cold while the afternoons are milder. Many of our guests had expressed difficulty with the cold, so we made it a priority to provide heating to ensure their comfort. I realize now that this created an inconvenience for you and sincerely regret that it affected your experience and sleep. Please accept my apologies for not being able to accommodate your needs more effectively during your brief visit. Your feedback is invaluable, and I assure you that we are actively considering how to better manage such situations in the future to ensure every guest enjoys a comfortable stay, regardless of the season. Should you wish to discuss your experience further, I am at your disposal and would welcome the opportunity to personally address your concerns. I hope we may have the honor of welcoming you back and restoring your faith in our hotel. Literarily yours, Sandrine Lefèvre Director of the Hôtel Littéraire Marcel Aymé****

Very comfortable pretty hotel, all that I needed for a business trip. Eco friendly, cosy bed and all you need in the room. Very helpful front desk team. Laundry service would be great but i managed without.

"Great location. Tiny room"
The toilet was that small only a careful sideways entry was possible. Room clean. Need comfortable but room was small for the money we paid.
Dear wpenn2025, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. I have taken note of your remarks regarding the room and bathroom dimensions, and will share them with our team as we review our offerings and guest experience. "Delightful in every way"
Chic and charming hotel in the heart of Montmartre. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful, rooms well appointed and a generous breakfast is offered at a reasonable price. There is a literary and artistic theme throughout with much information available on the history of the area and its past inhabitants. Our top floor room had a balcony with breathtaking views over Paris. We would definitely choose this hotel as a base for any return visits to the city

"Great hotel in great location"
Situated in Montmartre, easy walking distance to many bars, restaurants and sights. The room was spacious and very comfortable. The bathroom was very small, the toilet room even more so. The staff were very welcoming each and every time we saw them, even allowing us the use of a corkscrew so we could have a glass of wine in our room! Would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay again if visiting the area.
Dear Nicola B, Thank you so much for your delightful review and for choosing our hotel during your visit to Montmartre! 😊 We're truly pleased that you enjoyed your stay and appreciated the unique charm of our neighborhood. "Exceeded expectations"
We were truly surprised when we entered the lobby and our room. Clean, comfortable. Montmartre is the place to be in Paris. Location is perfect. Close to metro, close to restaurants, stores and places of interest. We highly recommend it. The only comment, we would welcome at least one english speaking TV channel where we could catch a move while in bed ready for sleep ;o).
Dear Dreamer09204516947, Thank you so much for your wonderful review and for sharing your experience with us! 🌟 We're delighted to know that your stay in Montmartre exceeded your expectations and that you enjoyed what our hotel and neighborhood have to offer. Your recommendation means the world to our team! Regarding English-speaking TV channels, we have some: it is a pity you didn't ask the reception to help you to find them We hope to welcome you again soon for more Parisian adventures (and maybe a good movie before bed next time)! 😉 Literarily yours, Sandrine Lefèvre Director of the Hôtel Littéraire Marcel Aymé****
"Good But Could Be Better"
Having stayed at this Hotel before we were looking forward to our stay , sadly we were disappointed. The Front Office staff could not have been more welcoming, friendly and informed , always greeted with a a smile and a positive manner , sadly that is where the “Professionalism “stopped. The hotel is well located ,with easy access to public transport and is close to many charming and interesting restraunts and bars .The rooms are small , a little cramped for the longer stay , but the bed was comfortable and the area quiet of an evening. We had issues with Housekeeping , removing item from our room that we had requested from reception , neglecting to replace towels on a number of occasions and we believe damaging personal property accidentally, and not informing us . The breakfast was also “Disappoint”, staff were not helpful and at times rude and abrupt , hot food when available was “Just” warm , tables never cleared , and cold selection poorly presented. Could be Great Again , some of the departments just need to work on their Customer Skills. EnjoyParis .
Dear Kenneth S, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience following your recent stay at our hotel. I am truly grateful for your continued loyalty and for the thoughtful feedback you have provided. While I am pleased that you felt genuinely welcomed by our Front Office team, I am very sorry to learn that several aspects of your stay fell short of expectations. Your comments regarding housekeeping are particularly concerning, especially in relation to the removal of items from your room, the inconsistency in towel replacement, and the accidental damage to your personal property without notification. Please accept my sincerest apologies for these oversights; rest assured, I will address these matters directly with our housekeeping management to reinforce the standards of care and communication that our guests rightfully expect. Additionally, I regret that your breakfast experience was disappointing and that you encountered unhelpful or impolite service, as well as issues with the quality and presentation of the food. This does not reflect the level of hospitality we strive to deliver. I will review these points with our breakfast team as a priority. Kenneth S, your feedback is invaluable and helps us to improve. Should you be willing, I would welcome the opportunity to discuss your experience further and ensure your next visit is more in line with your expectations. Please feel free to contact me directly at your convenience. Thank you once again for your candor and for helping us to aspire to greatness. Literarily yours, Sandrine Lefèvre Director of the Hôtel Littéraire Marcel Aymé****
"Great Hotel, great location"
I was unsure about booking this hotel due to it being a Best Western (sorry), but it was great. It was good sized, the bathroom was spacious, the room had a Nespresso machine and the bed was comfortable. The location was just what we were hoping for; it was less than 10 minutes to get to Place de Tertre and Sacré-Coeur. It is a little far from any metro stops though. We had to haul our luggage up a big hill.
Dear Megan R, Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience with us! 😊 We're delighted that your stay exceeded your expectations and that you enjoyed the comfort of your room and our unique Montmartre location. It's always a pleasure to welcome guests who are pleasantly surprised! We hope to welcome you back for another literary adventure in Paris! "Charming in Paris"
Very good hotel, artfully appointed, lovely staff - very helpful, efficient and friendly. The room was very small but clean and the bed comfortable. It is well located in the Montmartre neighbourhood with great restaurants and cafés around it. We only stayed overnight so didn't take advantage of what else it has to offer but staff were available to help. They sent out a pre-stay survey to capture our needs and interests which was helpful. Would recommend.
"Excellent hotel in Montmartre"
Excellent hotel in a great location. The room was spotlessly clean and had everything i needed. Decorated to a high standard. The location is excellent for Montmartre and Pigalle with a Metro station within 5 mins walk and loads of cafes, bakeries and restaurants. The receptionist was very friendly (sorry I've forgotten his name) but he made the stay more enjoyable. I would 100% recommend this hotel.
"Very good location!"
Perfect location for visiting Paris right in the center were it is all happening. Rooms are not big but very nicely decorated and very clean!!
"Great Hotel, Great Location"
As a female traveling solo, I felt extremely safe in this area and at this hotel. The hotel was modern, clean and the staff were extremely friendly. I requested a room with a balcony with a view of the Eiffel Tower and when I checked in, that room was available. It was the perfect view! I walked to the Montmartre square multiple times without any hassle. There are many cafes and plenty of shopping right near the hotel. I definitely recommend this hotel if you'd like to stay near Montmartre.
"A great hotel in Montmartre"
A beautiful hotel with kind and helpful staff in Montmartre! The room was on the smaller side but were clean and felt cozy. Great location and not too far away from the metrostation. If I am going to Paris I would definetly consider staying at this hotel again.
"Great hotel located in Montmartre for a great price"
Great little hotel located in Montmartre. We booked the cheapest room and requested a higher floor. We have a slight view of the sacre coure & the balcony is magnificent. You can sit out there or just open the door and hear the neighbourhood. At night we have heard no sounds. Room is small but well renovated and clean with Nespresso machine/coffee pods, sugar, cream and tea. Front desk was very pleasant & greets us every time we enter the building. Would definitely recommend.
"Great Stay"
Excellent location, near to metro and close to many lovely restaurants and bars. Clean and very comfortable. Friendly and helpful staff and a good breakfast included. Would recommend and would stay again if we revisit Paris
"Perfect"
The hotel is located very near Sacre Coeur, clean, nicely decorated, and quiet. Staff was helpful and polite. Definitely worth staying at.
"Very Comfortable"
This is the second time of visiting and we weren't disappointed. The room was very comfortable and well equipped. We will come again.
"Wonderful break in a fabulous hotel"
The hotel was clean and comfortable, in a perfect location. All of the staff were so friendly & helpful, upgrading our room as a gift for my mothers 80th birthday. I am looking forward to booking another stay at this lovely hotel.
"Excellent hotel"
The experience of staying in this hotel was super good. In advance I asked for the room on the higher floor, the staff implemented it and gave me the room with the Eiffel Tower view. It was amazing. The bed is very comfortable. The clearness was on the high level.
"Amazing and magical break"
Beautiful little hotel! Absolutely made our trip so perfect! Lovely location, clean, helpful and friendly staff. Went for my 40th birthday celebrations and was over the moon with the room with a balcony. Highly recommend staying at this charming hotel!!
"Delightfully modern but cosy hotel"
A well located hotel in Montmatre, close enough to walk from the metro, but not in a noisy area. Delightfully and freshly decorated with the literary theme. Friendly staff, cosy room, my 5th floor room had view of paris and the eifel tower! Great little breakfast too. Plus a welcome pastry to enjoy with the nespresso machine in the room.
"Nice value for money"
Very nice located hotel with beautiful furnished rooms next to the moulin rouge. If you can catch a good price you will receive a good value for your money.
"Great location – very nice breakfast"
Value for money was really good. Decently sized room with nice bathroom. Breakfast is home-made and locally sourced. Location is great just a few minutes walk to Moulin Rouge and with a lot of gastronomy around.
"Great stay"
This was our third time at the hotel. The hotel is immaculately clean in all areas, the staff are very friendly and welcoming. The room decor is lovely and very comfortable. Our bathroom (room 52) could benefit from a longer shower tray to prevent soaking the floor every shower. Amazing view from balcony.
"Exquisitely located, friendly, stylish hotel -- perfect for a long, leisurely stay..."
...my partner and I wanted to spend eight days and explore Paris more thoroughly. We'd heard great things about Montmartre and came upon this hotel in our research. The rates were very reasonable and the reviews were great, so we went for it -- and I'm so glad we did! A few highlights: - Upon check-in, we were upgraded from a first-floor room with a courtyard view to a second-floor room with a lovely view of the charming street. We also got a tasty welcome pastry! - The room was clean, cute, and well-appointed, with built-in USB chargers, coffee- and tea-making facilities, a very comfortable bed, clean and stylish bathroom, and big windows. Yes, it's not huge -- hotel rooms in major world capitols are not like hotel rooms in Yellow Springs, Ohio -- but the room was very livable for a long stay. My one complaint was that we could have used a little more storage and/or flat surfaces. A few towel hooks would have gone a long way. - The staff were friendly, accommodating, and eager to help. Everyone at the front desk spoke both English and French. The lobby was also charming, with a little library, information about local businesses, and a little snack in the evenings. - The best part: THE NEIGHBORHOOD! While things get very touristy near Sacre Coeur, and yes, there are a lot of (clean, safe) sex shops near Moulin Rouge, Montmartre is absolutely wonderful -- it is a real neighborhood, populated by local residents and businesses that aren't averse to tourist, but do not live to serve tourists. Yes, it is usually a 30-40 minute walk down to the big attractions (museums, Notre Dame, etc.), but a long walk through Paris (stopping at cafes and bakeries along the way) is a wonderful way to start the day. We walked 10+ miles every day and got to know the city so well. Some of our favorite local businesses that are only steps away from this hotel include: - Patouche: A fun, hopping (yet low-key) brewery that makes really fine beers. Try the Ipatouche! - La Spirale: Super cool indie record store right across the street. - Le Petite Moulin: Funky dive bar across from the hotel with tasty food and a really fun chef who regaled us with stories and food information well into the night. - Chez Pitou: Thriving local restaurant with a small menu of fresh, local fare. - La Part des Anges: Our favorite local restaurant. Incredible vibe, incredible food, very friendly staff. We ended up going here twice. - Ose: Another fine, fine local restaurant. Had a great meal here.
"Hotel Review: Best Western Plus Hôtel Littéraire Marcel Aymé"
My stay at the Best Western Plus Hôtel Littéraire Marcel Aymé was overall enjoyable, with some areas for improvement. Pros: Check-in: The process was smooth, and the staff was helpful and welcoming. Comfort: The king-size room, while on the smaller side, had a very comfortable bed and pillows that made for a great night's sleep. Cleanliness: The cleaning staff did an excellent job maintaining the room throughout the stay. Location: The hotel's location was fantastic, providing easy access to nearby attractions and amenities. Cons: Room Layout: The toilet was uncomfortably small, and the shower, while functional, could benefit from a better showerhead. Noise: We stayed in Room 42, which was generally quiet but faced the street. Noise from late-night pedestrians and early-morning garbage trucks was noticeable. For future stays, I would request a room facing the courtyard or away from the street. Lack of Hooks: One area for improvement is the lack of hooks in the room. Hooks for towels, toiletry bags in the bathroom, jackets at the entryway, and robes near the bed would enhance convenience and encourage reusing towels, which would also save the hotel money. Breakfast: I didn't purchase the breakfast, but it looked appealing from what I saw. Overall, I would consider staying here again for its comfort and location but would request a quieter room and hope to see some of these small improvements implemented in the future.
"Great find, experience and value."
Fantastic modern boutique hotel in the heart of Montmartre. It was clean and very nicely kept. Easily walkable to restaurants, bistros, shops and metro. Staff were kind and helpful throughout our stay. Room was clean and functional. Wifi worked well a d they were able to securely store our luggage both prior to check-in and after check-out. Would definitely consider staying here again.
"excellent"
very friendly and efficient service. Very clean and pleasant room and furnishing. Will definitely recommend it and come back when the need arises
"Excellent hotel in all categories! Very nice rooms, perfect location and very friendly employees"
Excellent hotel in all categories - nice rooms, perfect location and very friendly employees. We will come back with pleasure!
"Explore and Enjoy"
The location of this delightful hotel, provides a great "true local" experience, which added to a most enjoyable stay. It is a short walk to an abundance of dining experiences from the traditional French breakfast, to an abundance of delicious patisseries and a variety of dining options. The beautiful Sacre-Coeur Church is a 15 mins walk - just follow the crowd in the street and "Moulin Rouge", is approx 400 metres. The hotel is very popular, so if your arrival is morning, would recommend that you reserve an additional night to ensure an early check-in.
"Severe probllem with fire alarm management"
The only problem in the hotel were two fire alarms and their management, which was terrible bad. Our over all feedback for the hotel and the service would have been 9 without the fire alarm issues: - two alarms during our stay Tue 15.10. at 5.00 am and 10 pm - At 5.00 am there was a lot of smoke which came from the kitchen - People came from rooms in good order and most of us went outside the hotel as we should have gone. However, some people stayed near reception and perhaps also some people stayed in the room - We waited outside about 15 minutes. Some people went back to rooms by elevator. - THERE WAS NO ONE FROM THE PERSONNEL PRESENT - i went downstairs to the kitchen where a nerveus lady was present. She didn't speak a word of English. I asked her with my louse french to come upstairs and inform people. I understood from her that there is not anymore any danger but she didn't explain (or I didn't understand) at all. - The behaviour of the personnel was unforgivably bad: she should have lead the situation: make the emergency call, empty all rooms, inform the people etc. I discussed later on Thursday with the person in reception and he explain that the lady in the morning was from some external service and she didn't have any training. My point is that this is a very bad explanation - there shouldn't be any untrained person who is alone responsible for the whole hotel. I require you to give full explanation of the situation and description of your next steps how you would improve your procedures! If I won't get this information in near future, I will poste this very same report in the reservation services feedback in Internet. I would also appreciate some kind of compenstation but in fact I see that your development actions are the most important thing. They might save lives in future! I hope good future for you nice hotel Best regards Teppo Mattsson Nuottakunnantie 16 A 1, 02230 Espoo, Finland [email protected], tel. +358452029986
"Family Paris Trip"
This hotel is in a great location for exploring Paris . Cute, welcoming little lobby area .We chose it after a recommendation from a friend . My Mum , Daughter (15 years) and I , booked a triple room , I had asked to pay the upgrade for a balcony room , however this couldn't be done as we had a triple room , instead we had a disappointing room on the ground floor ,next door to reception and lobby toilet . Room was tight for 3 people , however I realise that space is a premium in Paris and small Rooms Are the norm , however the shower and toilet were tiny , hardly room to move . Street view was of discarded mattresses and parked cars . When I asked to be moved to a higher floor , no alternative room was offered . Such a shame as I'm sure I'd have rated this hotel much higher if our room wasn't so bad .
"Nice little hotel in an excellent location"
Very comfortable bed, attractive decor and friendly staff. We upgraded to a superior room hoping for more space, but the extra space was taken up almost entirely by the super long bed! Tiny desk and no sitting space. The bathroom is tiny too, but well-appointed and comfortable. The location is great and if you aren't going to spend much time in the room, it's hard to beat. An easy walk uphill to the main sights of Montmartre, Abbesses metro station is 5 mins away, and there are plenty of bars and restaurants as well as bakeries etc.
"Best deal near Montmartre - great hotel"
close proximity to fun Montmartre area. Terrific staff and room. VERY affordable for Paris. Inexpensive Uber or Bolt rides to most places. Not convenient to Metro. Be advised - this area is VERY hilly.
"Beautiful Hotel - Great Location"
Had a fantastic stay at this beautiful boutique hotel with our family of 4 for 4 nights. We had a ground floor family room which was more like a self contained, self catering apartment. Room was big, clean and nicely decorated, lovely little touches throughout. Room consisted of a big bed with plenty of storage as well as sofa bed for the kids in separate divided room. Location was ideal for Montmatre and was main reason we booked. The staff were so friendly and helpful, and we will be back again for sure. Thank you
"Be aware!"
The room was adequate and the location was great. Staff at check in were helpful. The problem came at check out when I went to pay the bill. The amount made no sense and when questioned was reduced by $60 euros. When I brought this to the manager's attention it was reduced a further $30 euros which I was told was the amount for the early check in. The problem is I paid $60 for the early check in and was asked to pay $120. We had problems with other businesses in the area , not making correct change and trying to overcharge which made me aware.
"Tiny room, overpriced"
Stayed here during our trip to Paris for the Olympics 2024. The area itself is great with plenty of cafes, bars & restaurants nearby. Close to metro stations for ease of getting around Paris. The hotel was nice and in a good location, & the small balcony, accessed by climbing through the window, was a nice touch. But the room was tiny! So small that we couldn't put our bags in the room without having to bang the door into them when opening the room. We had to put things on top of the small wardrobe & not open the doors fully. It was tiny! We're aware we'd have paid more to stay here due to the Olympics, but it was definitely not worth the price! No added touches or luxuries in the room. Frustratingly, the price dropped by 50% for the room when we were there, so they must have agreed it wasn't worth the price they charged us - disgusting! Two noisy bars outside too, which is great when you want somewhere to have a drink. Great atmosphere and outdoor seating - not so great when wanting to sleep or needing the window open due to the heat. Air con in the room is rubbish! Would recommend the area, wouldn't recommend the room/hotel.
"Great place to stay"
This is my fifth time in Paris and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Hotel Litteraire Marcel Ayme. The hotel was very clean and the staff most helpful. It is in walking distance to a couple of metro lines and plenty of dining choices. The streets and alleyways are fun to explore. You can also find a laundromat in the next street over. I definitely recommend.
"Lovely hotel"
Had a wonderful stay in this hotel. The area is really nice and felt very safe. Lots of nice shops, cafes and restaurants nearby. The room was delightful: very clean and had everything we needed. There was air con. The staff were charming and kind and we were very grateful for their assistance.
"Excellent clean and modern hotel."
Excellent hotel in Paris, I have stayed here a few times for work, the hotel is clean, nicely appointed and offers a good breakfast. The service is lovely with usually complimentary snacks in the foyer/ and there service is excellent. There are lots of lovely restaurants nearby, can be tricky getting an Uber from the location. Would stay again/price seems to have increased this year/hard to justify now with work.
"Cozy and quiet"
Cozy little hotel in Montmartre area. Conveniently close to Sacre Coeur and public transportation. Pleasant staff. For those with mobility issues, please note hotel (and Montmartre in general) is in hilly area, so walking distance means walking uphill and up many stairs (more than in other Paris neighborhoods). Overall, the neighborhood feel and the view from Sacre Coeur made our stay worth it! Would stay here again!
"Nice hotel in the heart of Montmartre convenient to many things"
Great hotel in Montmartre just a short walk from many great restaurants, shops and Sacre-Coeur. Very helpful and friendly staff and many nice amenities like refillable in-room water bottles, on-site breakfast and good proximity to the Metro. Montmartre is a very hilly area so be prepared to do lots of uphill and downhill walking but this is by far our favorite area of Paris. We love the steps near the basilica as a place to see the city and enjoy a snack. The Hotel Litteraire Marcel Ayme makes a great base for all activities. We traveled with a teenager and had a triple and appreciated that instead of a pull-out bed he had his own single.
"Great hotel and location"
Managed to get into this hotel at very short notice after nearby hotel had made a mistake with our booking. Staff very friendly and would always welcome you. Twin room was very nice with a lovely view over the surrounding streets. Excellent selection of food for breakfast. Great location to wander the streets of Montmartre and metro stations are close by. If you have a big luggage item at Abbess metro be aware there is a lift from platform to the top. Hotel was very clean throughout and i would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a hotel in this area of Paris
"Lovely stay in a wonderful area of Paris."
We stayed 5 nights at this really lovely hotel. The staff is very welcoming and keeps asking if there is anything thye can do for you. The room was on the top floor with a balcony . The views of Paris were impressive. The room itself was very quirky which we loved. It was very well appointed. Our slight issue was housekeeping which was a bit random. Due to where the shower was, it was impossible to have a door so we learned how not to flood or reduce the flood on the floor. The bath mat was soaking wet every day. And unless we put in the shower tray as requested, it was not replaced. Common sense should prevail there. We put 2 bath towels in the shower tray as requested but only one was replaced. The water was not refilled. These are small details but evey day there was something.
"Our Visit to Montmartre"
Great location, a friendly, helpful, and very adept staff made our stay very nice. The rooms were also very nice, clean, and well-equipped. And the breakfasts were terrific. A most pleasant experience overall.
"The room should be clean / 2"
It was ok. Nothing special. The hotel has 4 stars. It surprised me very much, because i expected very clean room.
"Amazing, would stay there again."
What's not to love about Paris, but definitely enjoyed our hotel stay. Staff was welcoming, hotel and room was clean, area was great. So many dinning options.
"Great stay in a great location"
Located in charming Montmartre, this hotel is easy to find and conveniently situated near the train station, numerous restaurants, and local attractions. Check-in was smooth, and we were welcomed with delicious cream puffs. Our room was cozy, with street views, and despite some nighttime street noise, it didn't disturb our sleep on the comfortable bed. The highlight was the spacious shower, and the lotion provided smelled amazing. Overall, it was an affordable stay in a beautiful location, just steps away where Van Gogh briefly lived with his brother. Tip: Before you stay here, read Marcel Ayme's "The Man Who Walked Through Walls". You'll notice the guy on the wall when you're in the lobby and it will make more sense.
"Fabulous stay can't fault."
Had the most wonderful stay here ( rooms are small - but most are in Paris ) very modern quirky design, so clean and comfortable! Staff are lovely and helpful we had floor 5 with Eiffel Tower views, breakfast was lovely good selection, area was brilliant, Sacre-coeur just up the hill, area safe and lots of little bars and restaurants, Moulin Rouge very near, we walked everywhere, but metro is close by, would definitely recommend and stay here again in a heartbeat, great value don't hesitate book and enjoy.
"Great hotel in great location. "
This is our second time staying at the hotel and we will return. The staff are very friendly and professional. Our room was great, yes they are small but good use is made of the space. We had the bonus of a small balcony with a view over Paris and the Eiffel Tower. The breakfast is good and the dining room is clean. Our room was immaculate and we had a lovely comfortable stay. Our only issue was at the time of booking the website said breakfast was included when booking direct but this has changed and we were charged for breakfast, partly our mistake we should have checked when we arrived.
"A nice quiet location"
We had a reasonably good 3 nights' stay at Hôtel Littéraire Marcel Aymé. We checked in early about 2pm and were welcomed with 2 fresh cream filled mini doughnuts. The young gentleman at the reception was always friendly. The area was nice: Close to Sacre Coeur and lots of restaurants and shops and still on a quiet side street. The room was tiny and the storage space was minimal. There was no mini fridge. Shower only. There was nowhere to hang the towels except the doors. The good things about the room were that there was an espresso maker with 2 coffee pods, 2 tea bags and a kettle. There was also a carafe of mineral water on arrival and more was available at the breakfast area at any time of the day. We stayed in room 20 which was a quiet one facing the inner yard. The air conditioning was quiet and efficient. The bathroom had a shower and a bottle of Nuxe shower gel bolted to the wall. The breakfast was good quality and cost 19 euros per day per person. We were not especially impressed with the hot selection (that was scrambled eggs, mushrooms and something else which I did not recognize) , but the charcuterie and cheese section was good: There was some ham, turkey, Parma ham, 5-6 different cheeses. The coffee machine was good, the orange juice of high quality, there were 5 kinds of yoghurt, various cereals, fruit, pain au chocolat, croissant, bread, rolls, cold quiche, American style pancakes, and jams. They all got replenished regularly. There was also some cake in the lobby at least on some afternoons. There was no mini market close to the hotel. The main drawback was that Wi-Fi was broken for the entire duration of our stay. Overall our stay was fine, but I am not convinced if this hotel deserves a 4 star rating. I would still stay there again because the location and the staff were nice.
"Best Hotel in Montmatre"
This hotel is perfectly situated. 5 minute walk in any direction to cafe, restaurant, bar, Moulin Rouge, Sacre Coeur, pastry and chocolate shops. Beds are great! Book the corner rooms they are best value and offer opening big windows onto 2 streets allowing you to soak upnthe sounds and ambience of the street life. Montmartre is a special place
"Very Unimpressive"
I did not and never will stay there. We made a reservation for 3 persons for 4 days, and then found out we might have a fourth person for one night. We told the hotel and they came back and said it's an extra E55. We agreed and asked if they could install a small bed for the night and they said no. When I questioned ‘why is this charge fair if you expect our guest to sleep on the floor?' they stopped communicating with me. I have stayed on five continents, and this a haughty attitude and uncommon in my experience. We cancelled before we stayed and found another similar hotel nearby, which is not even charging (and also supplying sleep accommodations) for our one-night guest.
"Very nice hotel in Montmarte"
Clean and nice hotel with excellent staff and location! If you are looking for a hotel very close to Sacre Coeur, I recommend this hotel. There are a lot of restaurants in this area which are serving variety of dishes from different cuisines.
"Nice hotel in montmartre"
Excellent hôtel, clean and quiet despite being across the street from 2 small bars. We had a ground floor room and didn't notice any significant noise. Rooms are fair sized for Parisand bathroom was up to date. It is near the top of a steep climb so getting a taxi to the door may be worth it if you have a lot of luggage. There are many cafes and stores close by so finding food is not a problem.
"Lovely staff"
The room was pretty and clean, the hotel very nice, the position is amazing in Montmartre. Expecially tha staff is lovely and one girl helped us with the taxi, very kind!!! I highly recommend this hotel.
"Room with a view"
We stayed here twice. Once we had the top floor and had a little balcony with a view of the top of the Basilica of Sacré Coeur. Everyone was friendly and we were even greeted with homemade cream puffs! We asked for help finding a restaurant that served a specific dish and Ann helped us find the perfect spot. It's located in a great little area with plenty of great spots to walk to eat and shop. There are several Metro stops very close by and it's a quick walk to the Basilica of Sacré Coeur. Oh, and the rooms were SO quiet.
"Fabulous Hotel in Lovely Area"
My partner and I stayed here for three nights, and the whole experience was first rate. We stayed in a standard double room and when we booked two months before our visit had requested a balcony, availability of which was confirmed within 24 hours of the request. Not only did we get a balcony but we got one with a fantastic view of the Eiffel Tower. The staff at reception were very attentive, and nothing was too much trouble. We loved our stay at this hotel in Monmartre and hope to return on our next visit to Paris.
"The hotel has a pleasant atmosphere"
The hotel has a pleasant atmosphere situated in quiet area close to the metro and a major train station, very friendly and attentive staff (especially the lady receptionist on duty on the late shift when we checked in on 29 April and when we checked out on 02 May)
"Real charming hotel with super-b customer service!"
Amazing property in must-stay Montmartre. What really stands out here is the customer service - absolutely super b. An (I hope I am spelling it correctly) was helping us with whatever we needed, from any random requests, to restaurant reservation and suggestions, thru booking taxi for us (uber and bolt are pretty bad in Paris, so check with frontdesk on your way back to airport especially) As everywhere in Paris, obviously rooms are a bit smaller , so spend few bucks on the bigger room. They are super charming , same as entire hotel (and neighborhood). If available, try to get room on the 5th floor, you might get an Eiffel Tower view.
"Memorable stay in Paris - thanks to this place!"
The stay in this hotel was an excellent choice! Everything was perfect - the location, the view at Eiffel Tower from the terrace, the cleanliness of the room, the comfort of our stay and many more! Special thanks, though, have to be directed towards the whole front desk team, who made sure to make it a truly memorable experience. Their effort, help, discretion and support in setting up a scenery for a proposal on the terrace was simply invaluable! Roses, champagne, candles, macarons - all prepared with a great care and attention to detail! Thank you all for a great experience and even better memories, hope to get there back in the future!:)
"Great place, great location"
I really enjoy staying at this hotel. The location is superb for restaurant, bars etc. The staff are super friendly and the place itself very modern, clean and lacks nothing.. the beds are comfy and in spite of busy areas, rooms very quiet
"Unbelievable location!"
This hotel is close to everything. We could not have picked a better location, staff was the cherry on top, They were so attentive and able to answer any questions we might have had. Unbelievable experience……..Je T'aime Paris!! We will definitely be back.
"Clean, safe, nice location, great breakfast."
Clean, safe, nice location, great breakfast, quiet. It's a classy small boutique hotel in a hip and happening neighbourhood. *Madina was a very professional and caring host. *note to Madina, I made it to my Versailles tour in time, thanks to your super helpful directions :-)

"Great Hotel in Montmartre"
The hotel is really lovely and has a great location. The upcharge for a room with a view was worth it. I had a balcony with a table and a view of the top of Sacre Coeur. I loved sitting there. At check-in, I received a delicious pastry that made me feel very welcome. Also, I was there in July and the ac worked great.
"C'est fantastique!"
Fantastic location, absolutely spotlessly clean and very helpful staff (who looked after me whilst I was sick one afternoon too!) The mattresses were soft and the (short) walk from Blanche station is uphill but worth it! I would not hesitate to stay here again. So many options for food and drink right on the doorstep.
Dear Sir, I am particularly touched by this testimonial which pays tribute to the dedication of the team of our establishment. Your visit to the Hôtel Littéraire Marcel Aymé is prepared so that every moment is pleasant and conducive to relaxation. Thus, they did not hesitate to assist you, because it is perfectly normal for us to be with the small care for each guest. I thank you for underlining the quality of the bedding, it was chosen to give you a perfect and restful sleep. We are honored to read your intention to return! Our team is looking forward to welcoming you and sharing with you their many favorite addresses in the Montmartre district. "Beautiful stay"
Beautiful room on the top of the hotel (53 room) with terrace with view on Eiffel. No fridge in room. But thee is kettle and coffee machine. Bed is too soft for our taste. Everything was clean. Staff was great! Breakfast big choose and delicious.
"Just what we wanted"
Great location in the heart of Montmartre, totally safe and convenient for everything. Abbess metro nearby. We had a superior room which was compact but also very cleverly designed to provide every comfort. Comfy bed. Good sound proofing. Aircon worked and windows opened, so your choice. Good wifi. We didn't have the breakfast so can't comment on that. Staff were helpful, always around 24/7 and spoke good English. We only had one minor issue (with the tv) during our stay which staff helped to quickly resolve. We booked a taxi through the hotel to the airport and that worked well too. No complaints at all. Liked the hotel and would happily go there again.
"Looks can be deceiving, not a 4* hotel"
I didn't get what I paid for. I paid for a Superior King Room, which was the 2nd most expensive rate, this was for a weekend treat for my daughters birthday. Upon arrival I was informed the room was cancelled and they couldn't find my booking, even though I had confirmation of the booking and had received 2 emails about my upcoming stay. I queried the room and was told that is what I paid for, which was on the 2nd floor and opposite the stairs! Not happy at all, as I requested a balcony too. There were no toiletries in the room and again when I asked for these I was accused of leaving the "Do not disturb" sign out, even though we only checked in that day. The shower head didn't work properly either and there was a lot of noise from above and to the sides of the room. I truly believe that they cancelled my room and then put me in what was only available without an apology or explanation, hence the room and lack of hospitalitity. Best thing about the hotel was the comfy bed and location.
Dear Madam, I would like to assure you that we have taken into account your feelings, which you have shared twice on the internet. I took the time to investigate with my teams as I was so surprised by what you mentioned, it is very rare that we receive this type of comment. When you arrived, we did indeed have difficulty in finding your reservation. Unfortunately, this inconvenience caused you to have negative feelings, which we understand given your expectations for this special occasion. However, the room you had was the one you had booked in terms of category, it is one of the most spacious in the hotel with two windows. The guests in general are very satisfied with it, we never have any remark about the noise. For your information, the option of a room with a balcony is extra and depends on our availability, as indicated in your pre-booking, we cannot guarantee it 100%. I am sincerely sorry for these misunderstandings, I hope you will give us the opportunity to make up for them. As an exception, given the situation, I would like to offer you a free upgrade for a future stay. You can contact us now by e-mail ([email protected]) to arrange your visit. "Loved it!! Fantastic Boutique Hotel in the heart of Montmartre. "
Absolutely loved this quirky boutique hotel, stayed 4 nights with my sister. We were lucky to get a room with a balcony, being on the corner we had views of the Eiffel Tower to the left, treated every night after dark to the Tower sparkling, to the right we could see one of the remaining windmills of Montmartre and we could see the top of the Sacre Coeur peeking over the rooftops. The ròom was spotlessly clean with a coffee machine and safe. Breakfast was buffet style served between 7 to 10.30am, great selection in a lovely breakfast room. All the front staff we encountered were welcoming and really helpful. The hotel is in a perfect area with plenty of good restaurants, shops and bars. A short walk down the hill takes you to the Moulin Rouge area and a walk up the hill you brings you to the Sacre Coeur area, lots of bars, shops, artist square, loads of quaint streets to explore and of course the Sacre Coeur lovely seeing it lit up at night. Would definitely recommend the hotel and really can't wait to go back there. Had the most amazing time - loved it!!!
"Excellent"
Pros: - Neat, clean and well decorated hotel - Good location in Montmartre, close to public transport and restaurants - Welcoming and friendly staff speaking English well / easy to communicate with - Charming and light room. Quite big for Parisian standards - Very tasty breakfast in small and quiet space on the basement floor. 7-8 am we had it to ourselves Cons: - Could hear a lot from our upstairs neighbors - Bathroom a bit cold but ok (don't know how they heat it during winter though)
"Wonderful Paris"
The hotel is in a great location and staff are so helpful. Small fridge and air con/heating if you need it. We had a lovely room with a balcony. Room was great for us as we are petite. Would definitely recommend and stay again. Good value for money.
"Boutique Hotel in Fantastic Location"
Beautiful Boutique Hotel Located in The Heart of Montmartre. Fabulous Location & The Staff we're fantastic especially Marinda in Reception who was absolutely brilliant and advised us on the buses and locations to Visit. I would have no hesitation in returning to this fine establishment again.
Dear Sir, I thank you for your kind words about our Literary Hotel and especially about our staff. I will personally pass on your compliments to Marinda, which will be very pleased. Our establishment has indeed many advantages which are very charming: a dedicated team, comfortable rooms and a very pleasant location in the heart of Montmartre as illustrated by your pictures. The whole team will be delighted to welcome you again during your next visit to the capital. Margot Kielt General Manager Hôtel Littéraire Marcel Aymé 4* +33 (0)1 42 55 05 06
"The most welcoming staff and the most perfect location"
Absolutely the best front staff we have ever encountered at any hotel. Everyone was extremely amicable and helpful. The location is just perfect to visit Montmartre because it is close to literally everything but tucked in on the upper side of the street to make your rest really peaceful. The staff were helpful and very friendly. We'll likely book this hotel again when we'll go back to Paris.
"Great hotel for a romantic trip"
The hotel is located on the Montmartre hill, close to many cafes and restaurants, but in a rather quiet street. The surrounding area is very nice and romantic and the connection to the main sights via bus and metro is good. The rooms are small but clean and nicely decorated and the staff is very friendly
Dear Madam, dear Sir, The whole team is very pleased that your romantic trip went well. Thank you for sharing your satisfaction with us through this wonderful review and all these positive mentions. We are indeed located in the heart of Montmartre, near many cafes and restaurants. We are fortunate to benefit from a quiet setting where you can relax and have some rest, without forgetting the romantic atmosphere that is always present in a neighborhood with typical Parisian charm. We are glad that you appreciated the decoration of the rooms according to Marcel Aymé and the friendliness of the staff. I hope you enjoyed the many tourist sites easily accessible by bus and metro from our Literary Hotel. Margot Kielt General Manager Hôtel Littéraire Marcel Aymé 4* +33 (0)1 42 55 05 06
"Great place to stay"
Really nice experience. Big Name hotel but boutique experience. Staff super friendly and helpful. Upon checking in, you get some incredible pastries. Oh la la. The location is great with lots of small, and large, restaurants to choose from. Nearby Metro station ((Abesses).
"So welcoming!"
We stayed here fir 2 nights and it was excellent for the price. Great location, beautifully clean and comfortable. Coffee machine in the room, water provided and the room was cleaned n the second day. Very good service.nice room for 3 people.
"great location"
wonderful hotel right in the heart of Montmartre. easy walk up the hill to Sacré-Coeur,the artist markets and restaurants. Plenty of really good bistros and bars with outside sitting within easy walking distance of the hotel. with the windows shut room is very quiet. Easy walk down the hill and you are in the Moulin rouge area. I stayed in a twin room with my sister and it was very very comfortable. beds very nice slept very well. . decorated so cute and decent size shower. the toilet was in a separate area than the shower which is nice if you have someone in the shower and you need the toilet area. the front desk staff are amazing and go the extra mile in helping out the guests. Huge Shoutout to Hanafi and Julie. They made my stay better than I could have ever thought. In the afternoons they have flavored water and little cakes for the guest for a nice afternoon snack. . Great location, amazing wonderful front desk staff. Only negative would be the wifi is a bit slow. Everything is gets a 10 in my book
Dear Guest, Wow... this complete feedback has delighted the whole team from the reception to the management. It is always very pleasant to discover that our guests slept well, that they felt well received and that they took advantage of their stay to visit and discover the capital. A big thank you for this 5/5 and all these positive points you mention. Hanafi and Julie are very glad to have made your stay better thanks to their availability and their professionalism. There is nothing better than having a good time with your family, I hope you have fully enjoyed the artists' markets, the restaurants, the bistros nearby, but also the Sacré-Coeur, the Moulin Rouge, the museums of Montmartre... There is so much to discover in our mythical district and we will be very happy to see you there if you come back to Paris. "Excellent location and value for Boutique hotel"
We were given the best room #53, which is super spacious for Paris hotels. The bed was big and comfortable. There are plenty of pillows and thick towels. They have a shampoo/soap combo in the shower, so you'll need to bring your own conditioner if you need it. The shower pressure is great and temperature consistent. The only drawback is the the shower head is too far back and doesn't angle, so you need to be very close to the dials or use it as a wand. Big shout out to Hanafi who checked us in. He was warm, friendly, and had great recommendations. He gave us these delicious puff pastries when we checked in. The hotel offers complimentary French sweets in their lobby. They are so good and disappear quickly. The location is a five min walk from a Metro stop. It's another 7 min walk to Montmartre. There are cafes, boulangeries, restaurants (very good ones), supermarkets, wine shops, and more. The location is lively through the day and night. I would stay in this area again in a heartbeat.
"Long weekend "
What a great hotel. I was treated to a 3 night stay by my wife. She upgraded us to room 53 on the fifth floor. Not only was it a cozy (good size) room it also had a balcony where you could see right across Paris to the Eiffel Tower. An amazing view in both day and night. The room itself was a good size. King size bed. Good shower with hotel supplied shower gels and shampoos, and a large tv. Soundproofing was superb and it never got too hot or cold at night. USB sockets and a little safe are always a welcome addition to any room I stay in. The hotel itself is located by some great restaurants and bars. A little shop is located just a few doors down for any essentials or snacks you may want. I'd 100% stay here again. All the staff we spoke to were really friendly and helpful.
"Endearing Montmartre Hotel"
Three night stay in one of their superior rooms.Compact but well thought out storage with tea and coffee making facilities, very clean and a comfortable kingsize bed. Reception staff are polite and very helpful.Good location for the pleasant cafe bars in the area. Short walk to the Metro so quickly into central Paris.
"Boutique Hotel"
Great location, friendly enough staff and well decorated and very clean. Lots of nice bars and restaurants nearby. Comfy bed and up a side street so not a lot of road noise. Only things that let it down was the toilet was a little snug and the water pressure for the shower was hit and miss. Coffee machine in the room was great for 1st thing. Would go back if the water pressure was better.
Dear Sir, Thank you for pointing out all these positive points, I am delighted that you appreciated our location and the comfort of your room. The bedding has been carefully selected and the soundproofing reinforced to ensure you a quality sleep. Everything has been thought of to make you feel at home, we have equipped the rooms with Nespresso coffee machines and Marshall docking stations to allow you to enjoy relaxing moments throughout the day. A wine by the glass service is also available at the reception to enhance your evenings. I regret to discover your remark about the water pressure after your stay, when I can no longer intervene. On a simple remark, we would have offered you another room so that a technician could correct this malfunction. I hope that we will have the opportunity to welcome you again in our Hôtel Littéraire, a true tribute to the work and life of the French writer Marcel Aymé who lived for many years in Montmartre. "Tiny rooms with limited facilities..Good Location"
This place is small and comparable to the tiny rooms in Hong Kong. The rooms starts and ends after you see a double bed. The restrooms are quite a shocker with space for a WC being the total area for a toilet. We had 3 rooms and all were really small. The basic facilities such as glasses and forks etc weren't available since the guy at the reception didn't know where the 'Breakfast Lady' keeps it. So if you take a dine out, prepare to eat with your hands and use the plastic cups kept the bathroom for drinking wine if any. The breakfast is chargeable at 18+ Euros/per person and is repetitive. We didn't eat after the 2nd morning. On hindsight, I would given this place a miss and looked at a better hotel... Tastefully done place though....That and a decent location were the only saving grace.
Madam, sir, I sincerely regret to read your disappointment, however your testimony surprises me greatly, as it does not correspond to the experience usually lived by our guests. Our rooms are certainly small, but they correspond to Parisian standards and are equipped for your comfort. We are totally transparent about their size and the facilities provided. How unfortunate to have drunk your wine in plastic glasses! We have a wine by the glass service at the reception desk, and we would have been delighted to offer it to you. We also provide cutlery on request. The breakfast buffet does not change daily, however the variety of products served makes it possible to vary the pleasures each morning. Its price is 16€, not 18€. It is justified by the quality of the products and the choice on offer: the local pastries, homemade cakes, cheese and cold cuts... The list is very long and our guests generally find what they are looking for. I hope that our excellent location has allowed you to take full advantage of the capital for the festive season. "Best Western Plus is a Plus "
The hotel is clean, quaint and has generally solid amenities. The staff are very friendly and helpful. They speak English and others. We purchased a room rate that included breakfast; I recommend this. It is a nice spread of meats, cheeses, breads, sweets and hot dishes. Fresh fruit juices etc., are also included. The location is really a plus...within a 5-15 minute walk are bars, restaurants, Moulin Rouge, transportation stations shopping and tourist sites. It is up on a hill so that should be considered. We loved it. It reasonably priced. Thank you to all of the staff that were so gracious to us during our visit, especially in navigating our ground transport during the strike!
"Perfect!"
I could not have been more pleased staying at this perfect little hotel in the most perfect location in Paris. We arrived early morning from the US on a red eye flight and I was initially concerned about the regular check-in time with our 2 huge luggages and maximizing our time in Paris. We were only visiting for 2.5 days/3 nights and my main focus is to see all the sights on my list within that short time frame. I emailed the property ahead of time to ask if I could store the luggages so we could start our sightseeing early as soon as we arrived at the hotel (check-in time is normally at 3 pm?) and they responded yes. As soon as we arrived at the property, I instantly fell in love with the location (Montmartre), the lobby and the front desk agent (Hanafi?). He was very helpful and understanding of our desire to freshen up from the long flight and wanting to explore as soon as possible that he did not hesitate to search for available rooms and at the same time, accommodating my initial request of having them on the same floor, right next to each other. Though the rooms are on the smaller side, they were perfect for my family's needs. The rooms have everything we needed: clean soft towels, a safe, a wardrobe big enough to hang our clothes in, and clean bathrooms and showers with a strong water pressure (a plus for my husband). And what can I say about the location...I particularly loved the quaint streets filled with locals who went about their day to day business. There were some tourists walking the streets but they did not outnumber the locals. Restaurants, boulangeries, cafes, fresh seafood stands, flowershops and little stores abound the neighborhood. We even caught one restaurant chef shopping for ingredients from the local seafood stand and closely inspecting a fish for its freshness. We waited in line along with the locals to buy our daily breakfast pastries at Boulangerie Alexine's for our breakfast on the go. In addition, Sacre Coeur was about minutes walk from the hotel and the Metro. Our short Paris trip was perfect and the hotel and its location was a big part of it. Thank you for a wonderful experience, Best Western Plus Litteraire Marcel Ayme!
Dear Madam, A big thank you to you and your family for this testimony which pays tribute to this typical district of Montmartre that we love so much, a setting for a daily life bathed in history and a rich heritage. Hanafi is delighted to read that you appriciated the rooms. His experience, professionalism and kindness are qualities that are unanimously recognized. He has done everything necessary to ensure that you enjoy every moment while benefiting as soon as possible from the cosy comfort of our family rooms and their quality equipment. You have not missed the traces left by our favorite writer Marcel Aymé. The tribute paid to him by our Hôtel Littéraire through works of art and its decoration is an echo of the life he led here in Montmartre. His house, located a stone's throw from the hotel, faces the sculpture of the Passe-Muraille that gave its name to one of his short stories. From the Lapin Agile to the cafés on Place du Tertre, from the vineyards of the Butte to the Moulin Rouge, from the Moulin de la Galette to the Sacré-Coeur, you are in the heart of Marcel Aymé's Montmartre. We are happy to have shared it with you and that you have the best memories. Frédérique HANSSENS,General Manager, Hôtel Littéraire Marcel Aymé 4* +33 (0)1 42 55 05 06
"Lovely hotel in a perfect location."
This is a lovely little hotel in Montmartre. The staff are friendly, the rooms are very well decorated and the beds are super comfortable. The Nespresso machines in the rooms are great and the complimentary pastries on arrival were a nice touch. We would certainly return, thanks for such a pleasant stay.
"A little gem!!!!"
Had a two night stay here. Stayed at the top floor and could just see the Eiffel Tower (just) which was a pleasant surprise. The hotel is so close to the Moulin Rouge and the metro. The rooms are ‘compact et bijou' but clean and equipped as per described on their website. Staff were polite and helpful and the breakfast was adequate and very continental (don't expect a full English). I'd definitely stay again!!
"WOWZA! An Amazing Little Gem!"
The most perfect location in Paris' most perfect little neighborhood. First, this neighborhood should be your starting point for all of paris. A gorgeous little artist enclave. Narrow quaint streets with sketch artists wandering and the greatest street food. We arrived early and the front desk man couldn't have been more accommodating. He got us in and made us all so welcome. Nice little baked goods to welcome and treats on display are a nice touch! Clean and all new everywhere. Small...but exactly what you need. Dont let the big company branding set you off....this is a cute little boutique hotel!
Dear guest, This is an enthusiastic comment that I enjoy to read ! You have perfectly grasped the spirit that reigns in our establishment, whose warm welcome and original decoration are the key to its special identity. Our Hôtel Littéraire is an ode to Marcel Aymé, an emblematic novelist from La Butte. Like you, he loved to walk around Montmartre daily, meeting his friends in cafés or in their painters' studios. The Paris of artists is expressed in our hotel through works of art, books and decoration that pay tribute to our favourite author. We are pleased to have provided you with a place to rest comfortably when you come back from your explorations of our beautiful capital. Your recommendation warms our hearts and we hope that the charm of the place will be strong enough to invite you to come back. "Very nice hotel close to Montmartre"
Hotel was recently renovated and there is some thought behind every detail of interior design . It's not a big hotel for mass tourism but rather 'family' atmosphere. I frequently stay there for businss trips. Breakfast buffet is just great.
"Great place to stay"
My wife and I were there for 3 nights and found that the hotel met all our expectations. It is perfectly located in the heart of bustling Montmartre and surrounded by excellent restaurants. It is very close to the metro. All the reception staff were helpful but we must give a particular mention to Ragna who was extremely helpful and ensured that we enjoyed our stay.
"Very pleasant surprise "
Location is ideal in the centre of Montmartre: pletora of cafes and restaurants to enjoy any meal. Staff is welcoming and polite. Rooms r quite tight ( pretty normal for Paris ) but very clean and cozy. Bathroom is en suite ( but note that privacy is 0 as it is literally 40 cm from the bed ) Nice breakfast. Poor WiFi. All in all if u want to experience Montmartre and look for a quality place with some charme and character I think this is a perfect place. It would be my first choice for Paris ( as I like the area ).
"Wonderful staff at a Great Hotel!"
I really can't say enough good things about this hotel. I booked it on Expedia and even verbally confirmed with Expedia that the reservation was made; however, when we arrived, the hotel did not have our reservation much to my dismay. This could have been disastrous since the hotel did not have any of the apartment-size rooms available that I had booked. Instead, the incredible staff took care of us and came up with the perfect solution. They honored the Expedia rate I booked and were so apologetic (even though it was an Expedia issue and not an issue with their hotel). Additionally, the hotel is so charming! The décor was fun and our rooms were spotless. Breakfast was delicious and the cream puffs we were given at check-in were the best!! Lastly, the location is ideal and we enjoyed strolling around Montmarte. We look forward to returning!!
Dear Madam, We remember you and your stay perfectly. Once again, what a pity for this misunderstanding about your reservation and of course, we were more than happy to find the right solution. Thank you for complimenting our team and the decor of our Literary Hotel. The writer Marcel Aymé loved his district of Montmartre and enjoyed taking inspiration from it for his works. From now on, you know where your Parisian address is and don't hesitate to call us to personalize your next visit. Mathieu PREVOT General Manager Hôtel Littéraire Marcel Aymé 4* 01 42 55 05 06
"Clean, convenient, and super cute!"
My husband and I had a great stay at this hotel in Montmarte. The best part is the location. The neighborhood is wonderful — it's walking distance to the Sacre Couer, Dali Museum, Moulin Rouge, lots of cute cafes and bars, and importantly, close to subways to get you to the other main tourist sites. We loved all the cute little design details throughout the hotel. Our room was clean and we really appreciated the air conditioning (we were in Paris during a record heat wave). The bath was AMAZING, it was so nice to come home to a great shower, towels, and nice smelling lotions and soaps. We loved the breakfast downstairs, which we had to purchase separately — for vegetarians, there were baked beans, pastries, jams, yogurt, fruits. One con was that our room was TINY. We totally understand small city living spaces (we are New Yorkers so we're used to it!) This was a little odd though — one of the walls jutted into the room, taking away a good chunk of the living space. (Imagine a pizza with the top right quarter missing). It did make it a little tough for two people to maneuver around / deal with luggage. I have a feeling that the other double rooms don't have this layout, though. (We has room 40). We also had an issue with the sink clogging up, but the reception desk was so nice about it when we told them at checkout and deducted one day's breakfast charge. The customer service was top notch throughout our stay. Overall, we would definitely recommend this hotel as a base for exploring Paris!
"Lovely hotel, great area, lovely people, beautiful"
I had a wonderful stay at Best Western Plus Marcel Ayme. Everyone was lovely, the room was clean and it was wonderful to see the street from my window. It was excellent to have a coffee machine in the room. The area is great, tube station Blanche just a few minutes away. Lots of restaurants, very atmospheric. I loved it and hope to be back soon. Thank you
"Great Stay in Paris"
We loved our spacious, modern room in Paris. The room had a separate sitting area with microwave and a convertible sofa which was perfect for our family of four. It is located in a nice part of town. There is easy access to the center of Paris as well as to other very nice neighborhoods including Mont Martre. It was reasonably priced for Paris. I was unable to find any other room of similar size for a lower rate; all were much more expensive.
"Geheimtipp..."
I'm staying quite often in Paris for business reasons and for the time being the Best Western Plus Hôtel Littéraire Marcel Aymé is one of my preferred places to stay. Not too expensive for the value provided and no tourist masses walking around. Excellent breakfast, recently renovated in a nice style...
Dear Martin, It is always a joy to welcome you and I thank you for your loyalty and for this flattering rewiew. Our Literary Hotel dedicated to Marcel Aymé provides you with a cultural stopover with a unique atmosphere, full of poetry, a true invitation to escape after a busy day at work. From the cosy comfort of your room to the delights of breakfast, from the attentive listening of our team to the originality of the decoration, everything is thought out so that you can rest and enjoy the life of a typically Parisian district in complete serenity. We look forward to your next visit. Mathieu PREVOT, General Manager Hôtel Littéraire Marcel Aymé 4* 01 42 55 05 06
"You'll Be Happy You Stayed Here"
This was my first trip to Paris and this hotel was a great part of the experience. Front desk always had a very friendly rep working. I'm picky about beds/linens and was so happy to crawl into this comfy bed with nice linens and six good pillows. The room was spotless. Hot shower with thick towels. AC cooled the room in mere minutes. Hotel is a block from a street filled with great restaurants and shops and there is a laundromat the next block over. Three blocks from metro station. My only complaint is that I would have loved a little refridgerator for soda/water but that's it. I would recommend this hotel to anyone! Loved it!
"It was a very nice stay at this hotel, we experienced restaurant Jeanne B, which had a good French cuisine.Basilic not"
Although the room was very tiny ,everything was there. The room was also very clean. We loved the coffemachine. Unfortunately on Friday evening and night there was much noise from the cafe opposite the hotel. The staff in the hotel was exceptionally friendly and helpfull. We certainly want to stay in the hotel next time.Francine
"Merci Beaucoup"
This hotel is the place to be if you truly want to experience Paris if your young or old. I highly recommend it. My mother is 102 and broke her hip and this hotel and the people in it helped me tremendously and I never had to stress. They made it convenient for me to stay and having a handicap excess was perfect. They always continue to asked and care about how we were doing. We stayed 12 days and I will be returning to this hotel like it's my home. The bar across the road was as fun as Paris A truly must do and stay at this hotel. Merci Beaucoup for all your help and care. Love From California, La Mirada. I miss Paris already.
"Cute hotel"
Nice room, tiny closet size bathroom. Comfortable bed. Staff was pleasant. Hotel was quiet. In a good location for walking around the Montmartre section of Paris. The lobby of the hotel is comfortable and full of memorabilia about author Marcel Ayme.
Dear guest, I want to thank you for your testimony regarding the quality and comfort you found in our Hotel Littéraire. I am happy to read that you haven't missed our many references to Marcel Aymé. In each room, which bears the name of a book, a friend, a character of the author, a quotation invites you to read more. Have you take time, back from a random stroll down the stairs and streets of the Butte, to browse through a book from our exceptional collection of Marcel Aymé's works? From "la Jument Verte" to "La Vouivre", from "Les Contes du chat perché" to "Le Vin de Paris", you enter in a world of wonder, humour and tenderness. It will be a pleasure to welcome you again to further explore Marcel Aymé and this district of Montmartre that he loved so much. "Near as a pin"
The Marcel Aymé is a neat little hotel nested in the back streets of Montmartre, up behind the popular Rue Lepic. My room was small but adequate in size - run of the mill for this part of town. See what I did there? A few small complaints on the room - there was no fridge, so it was impossible to cool a bottle of water, or heaven forbid a bottle of vin blanc ou champagne. There were also no glasses in the room, only plastic cups tsk tsk or mugs for coffee. The room was otherwise modern, near and clean. Plus the buffet breakfast was good value at €16, though I'd recommend the nearby Café Tabac as an alternative. I'll most likely stay again. Maybe I'll bring my own glasses.
"A lovely place in a terrific location"
We had the great fortune of staying in a fifth-floor room with a balcony and a queen-sized bed, which is not always something you'll find in Paris guest quarters. The room was very nicely arranged and felt more spacious than it actually was. As is often the case in France, the toilet and (excellent) shower were in separate, very small rooms, with the sink in its own adjacent independent space. The bed was super-comfortable and amply pillowed. Everything was very clean, surprisingly quiet (given the nearby nightspots, and that we were there on a Saturday night), and cleverly decorated. The balcony had a view of the Eiffel Tower beyond the rooftops of the city to our left, and a traditional windmill at the end of the street to our right. A great place to photograph the sunset! I might also add that the staff were uniformly friendly and very helpful; and although there are restaurants and bakeries all over Montmartre, it's hard to beat the breakfast buffet offered by the Marcel Ayme. We spend a lot of time in Paris, and Montmartre in particular, and this is the best hotel we've found there.
"Best location, great comfort, beautiful hotel"
The hotel is ideal location in all Paris. Located in Montmartre, quiet streets very picturesque. Near Metro Station, near beautiful Basilique Sacre Coeur. Hotel recently renovated, absolutely beautiful. Mos comfortabel bed. Fantastic staff. Breakfast is absolutely delicious and generous. Best small hotel of Montmartre.
"Superb stay."
We booked four nights at the Marcel Ayme and it was our first stay. We wanted somewhere close to the centre of Montmarte to avoid the worst of the hills. Not only is it well situated off a quiet road from Rue Lepic, it is a very modern place, bright, clean with a very warm and welcoming staff. We stayed four nights in one of their family rooms, pretty much an apartment. Large double and a high quality fold up sofa bed double. We got two largish room, a ground floor annexe next to the main hotel. With a small kitchenette, a microwave, fridge and 2 ring hob. We could make up a speedy breakfast for us and our two kids. I wouldn't try doing more than that in it really. The room was modern, great decor, warm and despite opening out onto the street, very quiet with great black out too. We could not fault it at all and it provided the perfect base for Montmarte. Place du Tertre is a 10 minute slow walk (those hills) and all the shops on Rue Lepic and Abbesses are the same. We would definitely go back and easily recommend it to others.
"Excellent hotel/location in Montmartre"
We stayed in apartment #1, street level but very quiet at night because the bedroom is in the back. Huge comfortable bed, great bathroom and shower. Would highly recommend this hotel. Stay in the apartment for extra space and a large, comfortable bedroom.
"weekend city break"
lovely little hotel. great location. close to montmartre but off the beaten track. really clean. great breakfast. staff helpful and friendly. lots of bars and restaurants close by. comfy bed. great shower. would deffo go back.
"Great hotel"
If you want a hotel in Montmartre this is it! Super clean and great service. Many restaurants both up hill and down hill. They respond promptly to emails. Full breakfast with eggs, bacon, sausages, cheese, fruit and pastries. We go to a restaurant nearby because we want a glass of wine with breakfast. After all, we're in France!
"Just wonderful!!!"
This hotel is fantastic!! Super location with friendly and helpful staff. The decor is fabulous and the showers and products in the room are all high quality. Comfortable beds, great breakfast and the location is brilliant for gettin around Montmartre. Taxi from Opera House in Paris was only 10 euro back to hotel. Wonderful value for the quality and service. Highly recommend this hotel and can't wait to go back!!!!
Dear Sir, Your comment is also fantastic and we thank you for it. Undoubtedly it has to do with the cultural and artistic atmosphere that reigns in our Hotel Littéraire dedicated to Marcel Aymé. This imaginative French writer inspires the pieces of art that follow your journey through the hotel, right up to your personalized room. And the 500 books at your disposal invite you to enjoy hours of great reading... We are a few steps from Marcel Aymé Square where the statue of the Passe-Muraille, sculpted by Jean Marais, awaits you, as a tribute to the author and the character of his novel. In the heart of Montmartre, it's a pleasure to welcome for a cultural break, in a cosy and comfortable four-star property. The whole team joins me in thanking you and looks forward to your next visit ! Mathieu PREVOT General Manager Hôtel Littéraire Marcel Aymé 4* 01 42 55 05 06
"Beautiful little hotel in amazing neighborhood"
I really enjoyed my stay there. The room was spotless, as were the towels and bedding. The neighborhood was beautiful and full of character, with lots of cafes, shops, and a couple of grocery stores within walking distance. The metro was close as well. I especially appreciated the professionalism and hospitality of the staff- they were always available, super friendly, and helpful. I'm giving it 4 stars instead of five for a couple of reasons. 1- the Internet didn't work well in my room 2- I requested a room with two twin beds. They were so close that they were touching each other, and it was like having one big mattress, which defeats the purpose of requesting two beds. But these were minor inconveniences for me. I loved this place and would definitely go back next time I'm in town.
"Great Unless You Can't Do Hills"
Loved this hotel, great location but if you have trouble walking or have bad knees avoid it at all costs. Close to all types of great things but it is on a hill. Just refurbished, very clean, staff very helpful. All spoke English, some spoke Asian languages (sorry I don't know which). Breakfast looked great but I just walked down the hill to a cafe each morning and people watched. Is in part of town where real people live but still close the tourist sites and Metros.
Dear Timothy, Thank you for sharing your kind thoughts after your stay at the Hotel Littéraire Marcel Aymé. Well, Montmartre is a famous Parisian area well-known for its cobblestoned and steep streets. It is part of this charming artistic village inside Paris! Marcel Aymé used to wander a lot in this neighbourhood. Our buffet breakfast was offering a wide range of sweet delicatessen for the Christmas holidays, this is too bad that you did not try it once! We hope that you will take the leap next time. We look forward to welcoming you back in Montmartre. Yours Sincerely Mathieu PREVOT General Manager of the Hôtel Littéraire Marcel Aymé 01 42 55 05 06
"Ok, good breakfest"
Got room with very good price. Service was a bit harsh like it tend to ve in New York. Room was ok and network worked. Breakfest wasn't very versatile but very delicious! Served my requirements well..
"Unique hotel in ideal location "
Excellent stay. Perfect location for walking around the city and fantastic restaurants/wine bars nearby. staff were friendly and extremely helpful. Very clean and nicely decorated - did not feel corporate
"Clean and well located hotel"
The hotel is well located few yards from major attractions; cafes, bars, restaurants etc... rooms are well cleaned and prepared. This said rooms are little small, probably one the smallest room I stayed at. The beds are comfy as well. I would recommend this hotel if you can find an offer online.
"Ottimo"
Vacanza in famiglia da 28/08/18 a 02/09/18 ottima posizione, vicino fermata metro Blanche(M2) ed Abbesses(M12) Camera confortevole, pulita, buona colazione, personale molto gentile. Holiday with family, very good position, near metro, very confortable room for 3 persons, delicious breakfast. Also the staff was very nice and with a little attention to the their "little guests",thanks again for a gift. And i forget to say, after a walking all the day it is great to return in hotel and find in the hall a cold thé and cake, really I suggest this hotel for family. Fam. Larocca, Italy.
"Lovely quirky clean & bright hotel"
Recently renovated - very clean and airy spaces. Reception staff were friendly. The Nespresso machine in the rooms was a nice touch. Rooms, as usual with Paris, not huge - but perfectly fine. Great location.
"Wonderful accommodation in Montmartre"
This hotel exceeds expectations. It is in a very busy and touristy area but located on a quiet street that leaves you still only steps away from restaurants and cafes. It is the perfect place to stay for families or otherwise. We had five rooms which including two sets of connected rooms and a single. The connected rooms for families has great space (for Paris it is super specious!) and are bright and comfortable. The single room, while smaller, is still comfortable. The service was excellent. We didn't have the breakfast because there are multiple cafes down the street to have breakfast but I did take a peak at it and it seemed like good value for what they had. Highly recommend!
Dear Madam, Dear Sir, It is such a pleasure to read this kind of feedback and we are all delighted that your stay in our hotel dedicated to the French writer Marcel Aymé was up to your expectations. Indeed, we aim to deliver a unique experience in the historical area of Montmatre. Our connected rooms are made for families like you and it is such a reward to read that you had such a wonderful time all together ! We do hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back soon for another spotless Parisian stay. Mathieu PREVOT General Manager Hôtel Littéraire Marcel Aymé 4* +33 1 42 55 05 06
"Fantastic stay, exceeded expectations"
We had a fantastic time, the location is awesome and makes you feel like you are in the real Paris from the moment you open the front door. The hotel is beautifully furnished and in great condition, the theme of the hotel giving you the vibe of the history of the area through a specific person. We had two kids and two connecting rooms, this worked well for us, the rooms are smaller than perhaps some are used to but that is part of the charm of the building, the area and the city. Loved it.
"4 nite stay in Aug"
We stayed for 4 nites had booked 3 rooms, 1 triple and 2 doubles. Rooms in general very small (one of the doubles nr 20 should be avoided it's even smaller) but nicely decorated paying homage to Marcel Aymeè. Toilet is tiny and indeed very uncomfortable for bigger people. Looks like it's a recently refurbished hotel. It's very close to Montmartre only 8mins but note it's uphill...Breakfast with quite small selection, just continental. Big minus that there is no fridge in the room and we had to cope with 35+ degrees every day...thankfully hotel staff was quite kind to fill up glasses with ice cubes every day so we could drink chilled water...Aircon works very well in the rooms.
Dear Madam, Sir, We do thank you for sharing your thoughts after your stay at the Hotel Litteraire Marcel Aymé. I am delighted that the décor was to your taste. Indeed, each floor is related to the French writer, from his novels titles to the characters he created and even dedicated to his closest friends. Our rooms are liked for their furnitures and décor and do offer different sizes. I am sorry that you found yours too small. Our buffet breakfast offers a wide range of hot and cold dishes to suit every taste but we are always willing to improve it if you think that something was missing. The hotel is located right in the centre of the historical part of Montmartre which is well-known for its unique cultural and artistic atmosphere. We hope that you had the chance to visit the Basilica Sacré Coeur, which is the spot you cannot miss while stating with us. We do hope to welcome you back for another Parisian stay in the near future. Sincerely yours. Mathieu PREVOT General Manager Hôtel Littéraire Marcel Aymé 4* +33 1 42 55 05 06
"Not as great as the reviews make you believe"
The location is nice if you want to be next to bars and restaurants. The problem was that it is on the hill, every time we returned to the hotel we had to go up the hill, even from the nearest metro if was up hill. We were there for 5 nights. The first night we got room no 2, be advised, do not get this room. They call it an apparment because it has a mini kitchen which is very nice, the room itself is tiny and it is at the level of the street, you cannot open the window because it is right on the pavement. At 7:00 in the morning you cannot sleep because it is like sleeping in the middle of the road, very noisy. After the first night we complained and they were very nice and moved us to a room on the third floor. This room was great. But there are no mini fridge in any of the regular rooms. On our last day in the hotel after 4 nights, when we where going outside to the city, the receptionist which was not there on any of the other nights insisted we would leave the room key with him even though we didn't want to and was not asked that before. He insisted this is the hotel policy, we grudgely compiled. When we returned that evening there was a female receptionist we never seen before, we told her our room number and she gave us the key, not even asking for our names, she would have given it to anybody who would have asked. One day we run out of toilet paper, the cleaning lady did not replace it. When we called the reception to ask for toilet paper and they told us to go down and get it. I would expect a hotel with 4 stars to bring toilet paper to the room. On our third night we bought a large bottle of soda and left it at the reception to put in the kitchen's fridge, the guy was nice and he labeled the bottle with our room number, in the morning when we tried to retrieve the bottle it was not in the fridge, it was set on the floor next to the fridge.
Dear Madam, Dear sir, Thank you for choosing us for this 5-night stay in the heart of Montmartre. The area is known for its famous hill which offers an exceptional vantage point on Paris when you arrive at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart. The streets are hilly and this is the very charm of the neighbourhood! However, public transport allows you to travel the majority of the area without getting too tired. We have assigned to your request one of our apartments with their independent entrance and everything necessary to be autonomous during your stay (fridge, kitchenette, kitchen, safe, WiFi, air conditioning, etc.). I myself have slept within this apartment which is quite functional and soundproof so it amazes me that you have been so inconvenienced. Sometimes it is possible to perceive the noise of the cobblestones, but is it not an authentic Parisian experience? I'm sorry if our procedures surprised you. We actually keep all the keys at the reception to avoid losing them during your walks. It is also a way for us to know which clients are in the establishment or not in the event of a fire drill, for example. Exceptionally, we agreed to keep your bottle in the fridge. It stayed cool throughout the night, but in the early morning we had to remove it in order to receive our deliveries and start the breakfast service. That's why it was cooler when you recovered it in the morning. The whole team is dedicated to your daily comfort. We hope you enjoyed all these little touches and you will come back to enjoy a new literary break. Mathieu PREVOT General Manager Hôtel Littéraire Marcel Aymé 4* +33 1 42 55 05 06
"Perfect"
Our room was beautiful, fresh refurbished with a balconette, brand new bathroom and everything that we could possibly have needed. The staff at reception were extremely helpful and the friendliest people we met during our entire time in Paris. We found the location perfect as we were away from the CBD but it was easily accessed by public transport. It is an easy walk to the Moulin Rouge, which is lovely to see at night time and Montmartre is a beautiful little walk away. With each room having its own story from the author Marcel Aymes dedicated to it and the story avaliable for you to read, it just made it that little bit more special.
Dear Madam, Dear Sir It is with great pleasure that I read your beautiful opinion, thank you to call us "Perfect". You are right: we have themed the entire establishment on the works of Marcel Aymé. Each floor has been dedicated to a different theme and offers a unique universe to our guests. We invite you to dive into one of the 500 books in our multilingual library. This will be an opportunity for you to (re) discover the works of this writer after a long day of walking? Your compliment on the helpfulness of our staff makes us particularly happy and I will pass it on to all the teams. We make sure that our guests feel welcomed and accompanied at best every day. For example, a sweet break awaits you every afternoon at two steps from the reception to feast on the most greedy of you. The whole team will be happy to see you again if you come back to enjoy a Parisian stay. Mathieu PREVOT General Manager Hôtel Littéraire Marcel Aymé 4* +33 1 42 55 05 06
"Nice hotel but some strange ways/omissions"
Just back fro 3 nights in this hotel. Recently renovated so very clean. A few good points and bad points to follow......rooms are decorated paying homage to various artists in this boutique hotel...... Good......in Montmarte "village" with great charm, very clean, the best air con. we've ever found and we travel widely including the USA and the Far East, daily maid service, friendly staff, coffee and tea facilities at the start, very comfy beds to rival any cruise ship, "a slice of cake available.....during the day", safe provided, 4 little choux pastries supplied to guests on arrival, laminate floor with bedside carpet runners, some newspapers in reception, electronic room locks, great double glazing, 5 minutes walk to Abbess metro (use the elevator), Sacre Coeur 5 minutes away with great Paris views..... Bad points.....NO ICE, in the hotel at all, our room had 2 designer office chairs and no armchair/settee, no cupboard to store clothes on shelves in thin wardrobe, no glasses but one materialised for a glass of wine as only plastic/kids style containers, tea, coffee and milk not replenished after 1st day, some tea stains not cleaned bedside cupboard, there was supposed to be an "honour bar" as there is no conventional bar.....this did not exist, no "nibbles" at reception as stated,a phone call to the hotel enquiring about a shuttle before we booked said there was none, but one was organised when we were leaving (?).....38 Euro to CDG, taxi from CDG is crazy 70 Euro!!!, breakfast is 16 Euro each (not used) and no other meals available so we were told but many restaurants 100 meters away, rolls etc frozen in freezer not fresh (?), tiny lavatory area......I cant see how anyone "on the large size" would fit, staff seemed to be all agency so not familiar with the hotel services, 1 English channel out of 30 is CNN,
Dear Madam, Dear Sir, You have quite understood what makes the soul of our establishment. We have dedicated it to a famous author of the Butte de Montmartre: Marcel Aymé. Like you, he surveyed the streets of Paris to marvel at monuments such as the Sacred Heart. We offer our guests the pleasure of a few pastries or cakes during the afternoon at the reception to awaken your child's soul. I regret however that we did not appreciate the decoration and the clean equipments of our rooms. Know that they are all unique and invite everyone to delve into the universe of our dear writer. On less solicitation, we would not hesitate to introduce you to a different room. The breakfast room is transformed as the day progresses into a screening room and a Honesty Bar. It opens every evening from 5pm to 10pm and allows everyone to feel at home: you just have to serve yourself and enjoy a relaxing and comfortable place to enjoy a drink. We offer our customers a taxi to go to the different places of the capital. Taxi drivers are dependent on the sometimes dense traffic of Paris and maybe that's what influenced the price of your ride. However, all the staff are well acquainted with all the hotel services and it amazes me that you may have perceived a lack of understanding on their part. I am at your disposal if you would like to discuss it more extensively. In Montmartre or elsewhere, a thousand things are still to be discovered, you now know where to stay when you come to Paris. "Perfect location"
Great hotel located in the heart of Montmartre. We stayed for 4 nights and were glad we did. Close to the Metro, lots of cafes, Sacre-Coeur, Chat Noir, Moulin Rouge, Laupin Agile, to name a few landmarks. Balcony overlooks Rue Tholozé but very little sound when the window was closed. Easy walk to and from Metro (Blue line 2 - Blanche), for most people (wheel chair, walker, etc., would be very tricky). Nice breakfast hosted by a wonderful young man (manager/host), who was more than happy to chat in both English and French. He gave us a great recommendation for the Gustav Klimt exhibition (which was amazing), and was without a doubt one of the nicest people you could meet on one's travels. Wifi is less than brilliant in the room, and the prices very steep for a beer in the honour bar, but those problems were easily solved by leaving the hotel and going in just about any direction more than 30 steps. Room was spotless, sheets and pillows everything you could hope for. There is both elevator and stairs, so access is good. Take some time to learn about Marcel Amey before you go as he is an interesting character, and then go and see the statue just up the street. All in all, great experience!
"More than expectations! 4.5/5"
I stayed at Best Western Plus Hôtel Littéraire Marcel Aymé for one night and it met more than my expectations. Pros: -very clean, spacious and comfortable room -very clean and spacious bathroom -very good location , 5 min walking distance to metro stations(Blanche,Abbesses) Highly recommendable
"Perfect location and very good price "
We booked a room via booking.com but the booking was cancelled twice. After contacting the hotel by phone a couple of times I ended up booking directly with them. Staff were polite and professional and they all spoke perfect English. The room was small but had all we needed for a 4 nights stay, It was clean and the bed was comfortable. Toiletries only comprised of soap and shower cap but to be fair I Didn t ask if they had shampoo, conditioner, toothbrush and toothpaste. The hotel is a bit up the hill from moulins rouge but totally doable even if you are 8.5 months pregnant like me! The area is really lovely with easy access to the centre and all the tourist attractions. We would definitely stay there again.
"Fab first visit to Paris!"
We arrived at the hotel on 2.4.18 for a 3 night stay. Upon arrival there was a room available (number 15 on the first floor) however when we arrived it was 2 single beds. We ended up being that busy on our trip I never bothered asking for a room with a double and the view was a busy street in Paris just like I'd imagined. Really impressed with the fresh modern decor of the hotel and how it had a real new and clean feel to it! Room had a large flat screen Samsung TV which allowed for screen mirroring which worked great in watching series in the evening via my Nerflix account. The rooms also have a Nespresso coffee machine however I never used this and generally got coffee from machine in the dining room in the morning. We never received any toiletries until the second day however I have no doubt if I'd have asked it would have been provided. There was one member of staff in the evening who generally was pleasant but on 2 occasions was preoccupied and found he was not the most accommodating. However I found the staff to generally be friendly and welcoming. I would 100 % stay here again and would recommend this hotel to friends and family. Attached are some photos!!
