This is 0 star review. We arrived at 10.15 pm to find they had overlooked my online booking. Producing the email booking confirmation made no difference as there were no available rooms. The male receptionist was unhelpful and unapologetic.

Beware Best Western hotel Ouistreham! We booked our room 6 days in advance having used the Hotel Website. We chose the non refundable price . They e mailed a few house later and said 'we dont take pets' I saw no such warning when I booked (and having stayed at the Negresco and Chevre D'or and other such wonderfully accomodating French Hotels naturally assumed they did!) I immediately replied and said - OK , we will book another hotel. Imagine our surprise when 3 days later the hotel sent a message to our e mail but addressed to different people (!) saying how much they were looking forward to seeing us! again i immediately replied saying 'NO! you told us we could not stay because we have a dog and we now booked elsewhere' Nothing from the Hotel until the day before our arrival when we received another standard message addressed to another family (!) saying how much they were looking forward to our stay. I rang this time and the lady I spoke to simply refused to discuss the matter and said there was no way they would give us our money back. Its against Hotel policy - you took the Non refundable option so forget it. Best Western head office France to whom we complained said they appreciated our furstration but that Best Western are franchise hotels (who knew that?) and each one had their own policy so they could not help. So our money was stolen -

"Perfect spot to explore Normandy's coast"

Stayed here three nights with the children. The hotel is not very large, which makes it more personal and friendly. The staff is very helpful and fluent in English. The lobby is like a cosy living room and packed with information about Normandy. A large chessboard was a perfect game for the kids. The breakfast is lovely with many fresh products. The pool is a welcome addition. If you need a friendly, clean hotel with nice rooms and friendly staff this one comes highly recommended.

"A lovely place to stay"

We found the hotel a delightful place to stay. The staff very friendly and helpful . The hotel was in a quiet location with there is free gated parking. There is an on site restaurant which we ate at and found very convenient and the food was very good. The breakfast was very good with plenty of choice. The hotel was clean and the room was kept clean. I did find that during the day at busy times like check in they could do with more than one person attending to the needs of guests I would not hesitate to visit again as it is a good location for the ferry and to access the sights of Normandy beaches.

"Could have been way better...."

The pro's... Great location, excellent parking facility, the Padam Padam restaurant on property was also great and so was the staff of both hotel and restaurant! The con's... The A/C season has not begun yet, hence no A/C in the room. It was warm in the room. To make matter worse, the queen size bed was sitting on top of a boxspring way too small, hence the bed sheets were having only about an inche inserted underneath the mattress, hence, every morning, both the fitted sheet AND the sheet were completely off the mattress waking me every morning in sweat... Unfortunately, there was nothing the staff could do to fix the situation. Overall, a lukewarm experience. I'm not likely to go back to this hotel again.

This hotel is our favourite when catching the ferry to the UK. The rooms are OK and the bathrooms are just right. The staff are lovely and helpful. The restaurant next door is very good, but it is very popular with the locals so you must book.

"First French Hotel."

After being on a ferry for 5 hours then through customs, we arrived at this hotel before 11pm. Only 2 minutes from the port! We were greeted by a young man who spoke English, we managed to park the car even though the car park was full. Our room was on the ground floor. In our room there is Tea and Coffee making facilities, the pillows are soft, although there are 2 more in the wardrobe as well as a safe. In the wardrobe there is 8 hangers. The wardrobe is small. Breakfast self service - scrambled egg, bacon, boiled eggs, yoghurt, fruit,cereal, croissants, danish, coffee, tea, milk, orange juice. If your breakfast is not included you will be charged €10.00 each guest. This hotel has a swimming pool it is open from 10:30am - 8pm. Sadly we did not use the pool. Overall the room was clean, and the hotel was quiet.

"Very nice stay!"

Spent a Mon-Fri break at this lovely little hotel last week. Whole place very clean. Every staff member we encountered was friendly and make a good effort to speak to us in English which we really appreciated as our French is pants. Great to be able to park outside. A mixed clientele of English and French couples - didn't see any kids but we were there outside school holidays. Room was lovely and had everything we needed, although a mini fridge would have been a nice addition. The bathroom was particularly lovely and we made use of both the in-room heating and the air-con as we had some mixed weather. Black out curtains were so good we slept through breakfast one day! Bed was very comfortable. Hotel was always quiet - despite being next to the lift we never heard people passing and it was often quiet in the lobby/bar area. There was a filtered water machine on both floors which was appreciated. Perfectly located for the ferry port - was nice not to have to drive far once we disembarked on the Monday afternoon, and very nice to only be 5 minutes away when we needed to be at the port by 7am the Friday morning. Breakfast was lovely - unexpectedly included bacon and scrambled eggs - bacon went very well with the pancakes and maple syrup! Also a nice mix of fresh bread/pastries etc. The pool looked lovely but we didn't use it - just too tired when returning from our days out! Did note though that swimming shorts were not allowed, so prepare accordingly men! Was nice to sit outside and have a drink on our last evening (this was really the only evening the weather was nice enough for this). It's not part of the hotel but there is a restaurant Padam Padam which we ate at and were very pleased that we did, would recommend booking as it did get busy, and check opening - it seemed to be closed on the Thursday night and we saw several locals turn up for a meal only to see it was closed. We booked through booking,com and the hotel took a not insignificant deposit just before our stay, and then took full payment as we left, which to be honest we were a bit surprised about as the deposit would usually be taken off total. We had been able to put our drinks on ‘the room' which is the only reason we went to the desk to pay - otherwise I would have assumed that if already paid. I'll get the deposit back apparently. All in all, would recommend to anyone travelling to this part of France, and if we were to ever need a hotel in Ouistreham again, we would choose this one!

Spent 4 nights at this hotel as a family of four from the uk we found the staff so helpful and polite, in particular the receptionist Delphine. The hotel itself was spotless, great breakfast and the pool was an added bonus. Highly recommended.

"Slippery and Dangerous Floor"

Booked late but did not realise there was a supplement for my wife to stay as a second person. Don't know why, it made no difference as we had not paid for breakfast.Also slipped and fell on slippery shower floor, hurting my back. Dangerous . Meant to be a walk in shower, but so slippery when wet. Did report to reception, but note made but no real interest.
