SureStay Plus by Best Western San Jose Central City

For the price you just can't beat it. Easy check in, was able to park my car just a few feet from my hotel room. Everything was very clean. Bathroom countertop was ample (small countertops a pet peeve). Toilet flush is loud so probably best to “let it mellow'' for late night bathroom visits. Jetted tub was massive! Seriously like a roomy two-person hot tub. I didn't try it out so can't comment but the shower warmed up fast and had good pressure. HVAC was a wall unit under window. I sleep hot so turned on a/c. Worked well - standard noise that comes with these wall units. Bed was VERY comfy. TV was fine. You can definitely hear upstairs guests stomping around so if that bothers you book an upstairs unit. Small pool and hot tub are probably nice in summer. Equally small workout room adjacent - nice I could fill up my water bottle. Was not expecting hot food for breakfast so pleasantly surprised by eggs and sausage in addition to the bagels, toast, etc. great staff. For a quick overnight I would stay here again. It's dated, and stands in stark contrast to its shiny new Hilton neighbor next door.

The beds are wonderful! It's quiet. Great breakfast . Everyone was helpful and kind. Very , very clean Fridge, micro and small pod coffee maker made it a no brainer. It is Right next to Santa Clara, Fairgrounds and a short drive into downtown San Jose

Not enough parking available had search for a space at . Found one not close to my room. I enjoyed the jetted bath tub as well. I was glad the hotel had turkey sausage over por. The staff was very friendly. The room configuration was unique. A great experience overall

Stayed here for the weekend with my daughter. The room was very clean. The beds were comfortable. Breakfast met all of out needs. Facilities were kept very clean. For example, birds sit on top of the light fixtures in the stairwells and leave droppings on the stairs. I noticed the mess on the stairs when I checked in at around 5 pm. It wasn't an issue for me...the stairs are outdoors and I appreciate birds in nature. Anyway, when I went downstairs at 6:30 am the next morning, the droppings were already cleaned off the stairs. I def appreciate this level of attention to detail. The area isn't great, but we just needed a place to sleep, and this spot met that need. Considering the price point and that this is a motel, the room cleanliness exceeded my expectations, and that is the most important thing to me.

We enjoyed our stay. Especially appreciated the cleanliness, fresh towels front desk friendliness and Breakfast. It was close enough to family and Levi Stadium. We will definitely come back again to stay.

Neat and clean. Had all the essentials including a fridge and Microwave. A nice hotel in a good neighbourhood with access to plenty of shops and businesses nearby. The staff were courteous and the complimentary breakfast options were decent.

Clean and well kept rooms. Older hotel but a great deal for the price. We stay often when visiting family and are not disappointed. Room is comfortable. Room readiness with special request is right on time. Great staff at front desk.

Needed a place to stay before a wedding in San Jose. Decided to go with SureStay, after debating between the other hotels/motels in the area of similar price. For the +$30 or so you'd pay compared to let's say a Motel 6, we received: more security in a safer location of the city, a quiet and dependable property, courteous neighbors, a comfortable sized room (at least the single), good quality showerhead and all water and drains for that matter, breakfast in the morning, a small gym and sauna, and staff that responsibly fulfill their respectful job duties.

You are getting a Hotel 6 at best!! Rooms are are old & dated! Jet tub that I paid extra for so loud and dated I couldn't even use it! Time we got to breakfast only a few choices .. very skimp! Coffee horrible. Did not receive member reward. Lady at front desk wasn't unfriendly but definitely didn't seem enthusiastic about her job. Way OVER PRICED! We stayed in a Best Western Premier the next night & paid less!!

We had a Family gathering, at a family members house. We had lots of fun, lots of food and best of all good rest at this hotel. Very clean and really quiet to sleep had a great rest. I will definitely choose to come back again.

The rooms were nice and clean and the pillows were nice and full. AC was awesome, I kept that room so cold:) in addition, there is a shopping center with a grocery store within walking distance. There is also a Papa John's pizza right there with a nice menu. The hotel was nice and quiet at night. The one thing we all enjoyed the most was the pool and the hot tub. After working all day in the heat it was nice to cool off in the pool and just relax. Thank you, that's why I only stay at Best Western!

The room we stay was okay. It's quiet place and safe. We were enjoy breakfast. Only one thing was we didn't feel welcome from one lady who was working at front desk on Monday July 17, 2023 5:00pm. Also when we called for items no one bring them to the room. They tell guests walk to the front desk to get them. They should have some body bring them over to the room.

Drastic transformations led to us forfeiting our own place in order to take care of family. Although it is something we'd not trade in for the world- it is extremely overwhelming...It definitely requires a break that is ABSOLUTELY necessary.. That said, we've made it a point to go to a hotel when we can to have peace of mind, and to take care of tasks we must in order to regain normalcy in our own lives. That said, we normally stay at a place in Los Gatos or Campbell- However in our search we were looking for something a bit more local. Surestay had come up MANY times within our search- It's always had the best rates, and a location right near where we need to be. However...We continually skipped over it...Again and again and again... And for no good reason. As humans we judge, and tend to follow the words of others mindlessly. Using opinions to measure the quality of a place we've not even so much as looked into. It's embarrassing when I think about it. Last week, my fiance and I decided give Surestay a try. Boy were we surprised! The first thought I had was "Wow. I cannot believe I'd skipped through this so many times" I genuinely felt stupid. The Building is CLEAN. The grounds are CLEAN. The ROOMS are CLEAN. The linens, sheets, desk etc is clean. There is absolutely NO REASON anyone should skip this hotel and or question a stay here. I've booked 100s of hotels in my life and the one thing I'm huge on is service and cleanliness. This Surestay exceeded my expectations. So much so that we stayed twice on two different occasions. The prices for rooms vary from $84 and up. What you get for that price is a STEAL. The Staff at Surestay is also very very nice as well. I don't recall all of the names as I wish I did, however I do want to mention that they were all great. Yes the parking gets full on top, however there is plenty of parking just RIGHT downstairs. It's not far at all. I'd also like to mention that it is not odd at all that Holiday in is next door. Plenty of hotels all over are next to one another. That shouldn't ever be an issue in determining a stay. Especially with the fact that Surestay does offer NICE rooms. A Brand doesn't determine the quality of the hotel, the staff does- And it is apparent that Mohammed and his staff are doing an EXCELLENT job. My only ONE complaint out of everything is that I came here for rest...hoping I'd have no interruptions..The maids came around 830/9 knocking on the door repeatedly and then came in. I will assume they didnt hear me through the door. The second stay it happened again to ask if I was staying another night..this was around the same time.. It states on the Surestay site that checkout is 12. I couldn't understand why I was woken up out of a deep sleep. My biggest pet peeve is being woken up before my alarm when I've had little to no sleep. I've NEVER had that happen before. Ever. I really needed a break and was exhausted..I couldn't sleep after that and was pretty upset. I got over it obviously. Ultimately, I don't believe it was done purposely, and maybe it's something they do there that I've never come across. Next time I'll be sure to turn the sign to do not interrupt and try to ensure that doesn't happen. They were sweet enough to bring me a new key when I wasn't feeling well. So I must look at everything as a whole and not just that incident. My point in all of my long rant is- PLEASE DO NOT allow negative experiences of others determine whether you will stay or not. Judge the place on your own. The price is so low, be grateful and see that they go above and beyond expectations- literally. People assume the area = not good. This is a prime example that holds no truth. Thank you all for being so kind and helpful, and for keeping up the rooms! You are all doing a great job and should know that! This Surestay location exceeds its expectations BECAUSE of the staff. Don't be like us or anyone else who didn't stay over opinions that are irrelevant and in no way are a reflection of what IS. I read the reviews of this hotel and it was mostly good so we decided to stay here. We were greeted by a very friendly and professional staff. The check in was quick and easy. The room was clean and most importantly it smelled clean. Had a good night stay. The bed was really comfortable. Only thing was the walls are a little thin as you can hear the guests next door. Will be staying there again when in the area. Would recommend the stay and price is good

This hotel is a decent establishment that provides guests with most of the required aspects of a satisfying experience. It is not a fancy place, but it is reasonable and reliable. Staff is accommodating, rooms are clean, beds are comfy, cable/wifi works consistently, breakfast is good, and the price is feasible. $100 fully refundable deposit required at check in, which is at 3pm. Check out is 11am. The draw for me personally are the jetted tubs in certain rooms. I give the SureStay Plus by Best Western a solid 4.0. If they fixed the vending machine, updated room appliances (fridges and microwaves), put hairdryers in every room, and added waffles to the breakfast, it'd be 5.0! STAFF PERSONS OF MENTION: Muhammad, the newest addition, was very friendly and made extra efforts. The dark haired young lady at the front desk at 11am 05/13/23 was awesome...efficient and quick.

Was very clean and comfortable, was very quiet and pleasant , was near enough to market we could walk to where ever we wanted and was not bothered, and cinco de mayo celebration was there and got to see all the beautiful low riders and all the fun stuff going on

We liked the location of the hotel. It is in a quiet location but still close to center city. The rooms are spacious. Our room had a balcony. Overall this is a very convenient and comfortable hotel in San Jose.

The lady helping with the breakfast was very helpful and pleasant. Rooms were spacious and clean. Although the rooms were next to walkways, we could not hear our neighbors which was a plus. Will be returning on future trips.

My husband and I rented a jacuzzi room (king bed with jetted tub) for Christmas Eve 2022. The value of the room for San Jose was excellent (<$150) and the location is near a grocery store and many retail outlets. The jacuzzi tub was large but initially seemed a bit dirty, but we realized that it is just old-- no big deal. However, once we turned it on the volume was unreal-- it was incredibly loud! The relaxation effect was dimmed due to the noise; we could hardly hear ourselves speak in the same tub. The jets were strong, however, and dunking ones head underneath the water alleviated the noise by a lot. Note that there is no separate shower in the room; the jacuzzi tub is for both bath and shower. The room was very clean and the bed and pillows were super comfortable! Yes, the hotel is a bit dated and tired, but we didn't mind at all. The only other issue we came across was that we only received one large bath towel and one small hand towel per person, and since there was nowhere to hang the wet towels to dry after our jacuzzi, we had no choice but to leave them on the floor. When we requested additional towels at the front desk, the clerk told us that we only get one big and one small towel per person, per stay, and she would not give us any more. We also had to unplug the fridge in the room overnight as the noise of it running was disturbing our sleep. Once we did that, we had excellent sleep! Overall, we would absolutely return due to the low cost, especially for a jetted tub room. We did not eat the included breakfast there so cannot comment on it, but the lobby appeared very clean, with many seats available.

Rooms were very clean and spacious and also quiet. The heater worked perfectly. Breakfast was ok, would have liked a variety of fruits, but the rest was great. We all our enjoyed the stay, wish we could have stayed longer, but will definitely stay here again. Thank you

I didn't stay Long. Staff was nice and welcoming. Good clean room. Coffee maker was awesome. I would recommend making that a Standard in the BW Model. The location was next to the freeway for quick access.

Black mold present in the bathroom, room old and worn out, carpet dirty, not the best area but what do you expect it's San Jose. The grounds needed cleaning,The breakfast was okay fairly good selections

This is one of the finest hotels I've been to in silicon valley. It rivals the elite spots such as Scott's Valley and other upscale Best Western locations. The kicker is you'll get a Jacuzzi suite for half the rate as those. Room was quiet and clean there were absolutely no problems and the staff is on point. They made sure I had anything I needed and all my requests were met with a smile and friendly attitude. A+++ for their professionalism and the buffet breakfast was fresh with hot coffee and you can pile up the plates as high as you want. This one is a sleeper folks get it in on a budget while you can I guarantee it won't last in this area.

I won't stay any we're else but here. They have the cleanest rooms. The jacuzzi is relaxing after long day at work. The workers have excellent customer service. I give them 100%. I feel like I am at home. If you haven't stayed at surestay. Then you are missing out on comfort

I don't gush about motels, but I will for this one! Giant Room that was very clean with a comfortable bed with high quality sheets, big TV, microwave, safe. Small fridge, ironing board, iron, hair dryer, big desk, TWO phones, comfy easy chair, plenty of lighting, soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion. Plenty of towels. The breakfast that is included with the room wasn't just a roll and coffee. Your choice of Scrambled eggs, sausage patties, 4 different cereals, Bagels, muffins, toast, orange juice, milk, apples, whole oranges, yogurt, fruit cups and was well supplied all through breakfast time (6am through 9:30am) and was all you could eat. My room was thoroughly cleaned each day like I was a new guest (Thank You Isabelle!) Every team member I met was very friendly, helpful and genuinely cared that you had everything you needed. I can only hope that every motel I ever stay in is this good! I highly recommend this motel. An all around excellent stay. You will not be sorry! Thanks to all team members! You are the best! Someone had prior accident in Bed Rm 206 and management did not remove bed. Mattress needs to be thrown away with pillows. Disgusting Management ignored this. Bed was disgusting and housekeeping just kept changing the sheets until I pull them away because of the foul oder.

Our room was clean and bed comfortable. When we pulled in we could see that there were many people living in that place and overwhelming smell of weed. A little bit of that smell is ok but it was BAD. 20 min after checking in someone came and pounded on our door, I opened and no one was there. There were several guys hanging out in the lot and I think it was them. Its not ok if you paid for a room and you feel like you are trespassing by other "guests" there. We did not feel secure in this place. Lots of noise until very late. Did not complain,did not want to cause anything because we were not at ease.

I have never stayed in a Sure Stay of the Best Western brand so wasn't sure what to expect. The rooms were very clean and the hotel looked clean overall. The only issue I had was the cleanliness of the hot tub. It was disgusting and really didn't seem to have been cared for on a regular basis. Maybe they were short on staffing and this wasn't a priority.

There for my sons basketball championship game. It was a late choice to stay but they were worth the cost to not have to drive all the way back to Sacramento just to return in the morning. The hot tub was great after the game just wished it stayed open a little longer

This is the first time I ever stayed at this hotel. Hotwire said it was a two-star out of four star hotel so I was unsure what I would experience. However, I had one of the cleanest rooms I've ever had. The shower water pressure was better than some four star hotels I've stayed in. The breakfast area and the staff were always polite, quick to help, and on the spot. Highly recommended!

Nice central place to stay in San Jose. Very close to everything. The staff is very friendly and check in is simple. I would recommend this hotel to anyone is who away on business. I had a great time in your room with my friend at a early time in the morning. I was turned down by other hotel/motels. I only needed the room for a few hours a d sure stay obliged. I had a great time

The room was clean and well appointed. They are in the midst of some construction - which was not a problem at all. The only negative was the fact that they are bordered on two sides by what looked to be an auto junkyard and some sort of cement building supplier with lots of piles of cement 'things'. They can't do anything about this...but it's really ugly. Also my human neighbors were a bit noisy until about 10 PM which did affect my sleep quality.

Stayed one night for a fencing tournament. Second floor. Good elevator. Very good beds and temperature control. Quiet. Checking in and out were easy. Good location for our purpose. We recommend staying there. Fitness room and pool were accessible and adequate. Breakfast was grab and go as usual now.

The best customer service, they always greet you with a smile and engage in a conversation to show they care. The rooms are always very clean and sanitized. I will definitely keep coming back when we are in town

I always feel a warm welcome when staying at the Best Western SureStay in San Jose. All staff are so helpful with great customer service. And the rooms are sparkling clean! I'm going to definitely be returning !

I will go back to stay there. Even though my stay was during construction of another adjacent hotel, I understood because management made an effort to apologize during the construction and the front desk staff was friendly, courteous, professional and kind.

I really enjoyed the room, everything was super nice and we were so comfortable that by the end of each say we didn't even need to watch tv to fall asleep! The only thing that I would say waning great was one of the people working in the lobby was a little rude. We came down a couple times to grab toilet paper and the second time he told us to ask the cleaning lady's. We had been sleeping when they were walking by because of the time change between there and where we live. And most of the mornings we were in the room so we didn't catch them. A couple times they did knock and ask if we wanted to towels and such which was very nice and they were super friendly but that was prior to when we needed the toilet paper. But other than that the stay was great.

Front desk staffs exceeded expection in every ways possible... Amazingly!!! They treated me as im the only guess in their hotel, I have stay at many hotel including the Embassy Suite, Double Tree, and the Hyatt.... And this one is the best and I would more than likely to recommend to all my friends and family.

I've been here before and I was glad that I came back. The staff that I interacted with were very friendly. This time around, I was able to use the hot tub/pool, the hot tub was insanely warm and I liked that it closed late.

I really enjoyed my stay, I recommend it 100% Their staff is so nice and the rooms have everything and are so spacious. Also, their shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, and soap smell so good and are great quality.

We got to the hotel before 3 pm but the people before us were having issues and so we waited awhile. The problem seemed to be that the guest girlfriend didn't have an ID and so the boyfriend and the manager went back and forth on how to resolve the issue. After 15 minutes a young man came out of another room and started to help us check into our hotel room 207. We got our keys and went to room 207. When we got there the door was all the way open and we can see a cleaning person was standing in front of the TV. So we got the cleaning person's attention. She invited us inside the room, so we went inside. Once inside the room we where over powered from a strong smell of cigarette smoke. The cleaning person was telling us that the TV was not working and was it OK. We both said no it was not alright and on top of that, the room has a strong smell of cigarette smoke and so we want another room please. The cleaning person called the front desk and then left to go back to the front office and later came back with two new keys to room 203. When we went to room 203 everything looked good and the fridge was cold. The only two issues we had in room 203 was when my girlfriend took a shower the bathroom floor flooded. So we called down to the front desk and this young man answered the phone. I asked him to please send someone up to room 203 to mope the bathroom floor that had flooded. His first words where "Sorry but the cleaning people have gone home for the day". In response I said "then can you or someone else please come and mope the bathroom floor because I was afraid that the water would drip down to the first floor". But instead of sending anyone to mope the bathroom floor, the young man at the front desk just kept asking how did it happen, how much water is there, why did the floor get flooded, how did happen and so on and so, but he was trying his best to make up some kind of excuse for not coming. Apparently he was the only one to finely come upstairs with a mope and bucket to take care of the flooded bathroom. We left the room to meetup with a family member. By the time we got back to our room the bathroom was dry. Well done I say. We reported the problems that we had with this young man at the front desk to the manager and she thanked us for letting her know.

I have been staying in lot of hotels and Inn, but i have never been in a place where hospitality is beyond expectation and that goes to the entire front desk staffs everyone ive met are so friendly and eager to assist and since im on this page i would like to thank you for making me feel comfortable like i can actually say im home away from home.

Wow, with a 4.0 rating on TripAdvisor I have to either question the validity of the reviewer community, or my expectations. That said, I am perfectly happy in Hampton Inns, so... I'll stick with my view that this hotel was old and disappointing. The Good: close to SJC, good restaurant choices nearby, area seems somewhat safe, the hotel is nice enough to provide ear plugs on the side table (Ha!) The Bad: Old, dated, noisy, terrible parking - all for $200/night = 2.0 rating in my book. The sooner they can finish their new hotel 30 feet from this one, the better; it needs a major facelift. My advice, stay somewhere else.

Hotel was under construction at the time we stayed there, may want to check for construction-related impacts. Parking lot may also be more congested than normal due to construction. It is an old-style motel layout, also, so if security or privacy is a concern you may want to look elsewhere -- we had a fair amount of noise from the external hallway as well as the adjacent rooms. That said, the room itself was clean, breakfast was fine, and staff was very efficient and helpful, so overall I can't complain about the property.

I should have read prior reviews before booking. On vacation heading to wine country. I was concerned when this hotel was 5 miles off the 101 freeway. Most HI Express hotels are near the freeway. This hotel is not in a good part of town. The hotel is under massive construction project. Work began at 6:30 a.m. There is hardly any parking due to the project. The internet dropped off constantly. The clock radio alarm went off at 5:30 a.m. from the prior guest and the staff hadn't noticed it to turn it off. Our view of the construction site was gross. This hotel IS NOT worth several hundred dollars a night. Stay elsewhere.
