Grand Hotel Cravat (room 662 in particular) was a brilliant stay! The location of the hotel is superb for sughtseeing in Old Town. The staff were all very professional and helpful, offering maps, suggestions, directions, etc. Room 662 offers an unparalleled view of iconic landmarks: Constitution Square, Gëlle Fra statue (Golden Lady/Monument of Remembrance), Adolphe Bridge, the castle-like State Savings Bank Tower, and Pétrusse Valley. We enjoyed that room with that view immensely. I would choose this hotel and that room again, absolutely.

Lovely historic hotel in great location. NO air conditioning! But they provided a fan during the unusual August heat wave. Room and bathroom were small, but typical for European standards. Bed and linens were quite nice. Desk staff were friendly and helpful. And the bar (which opens ~ 5 or 6 pm) offered CUSTOM craft cocktails. The breakfast buffet was good, not great. The wait staff were pleasant. The coffee was not so good. But the location is fantastic for hitting all the tourists spots, good restaurants, etc. Overall, really happy here and would return.

The Hotel was comfortable and the staff was very friendly and helpful. This will always be my go to hotel in Luxembourg.

Staff are excellent, breakfast excellent except I don't like to keep asking for teabags. Why are they kept in a box and hidden away? Rooms need some refurbishment, the wi-fi was hopeless, could hardly use it in the room. Good location close to shops, restaurants, museums, parks and transport. A bit noisy in the morning. I would stay here again if you put the teabags out and fix the wi-fi.

Absolutely wonderful stay. The hotel is very conveniently located at the edge of the Ville Haute overlooking Parc de la Petrusse. It's a short walk or bus ride from train station. The staff is super helpful and are overall very lovely people. Breakfast is filling and delicious. Highly recommend.

We had a lovely, if brief, stay at the Grand Hotel Cravat. This was our second stay as we enjoyed our trip in 2024 immensely. The hotel was everything we remembered and the staff were wonderful. It is always nice to have a drink in Le Trianon bar. We have a family member who now lives in Luxembourg so I expect that we will be returning to the Grand Hotel in the near future.

A lovely hotel great central location and professional and friendly staff who went above and beyond. The breakfast was excellent and the staff were incredible as were the reception staff.

We stayed here two nights May 5, 6, 2026. We were on the 6th floor, room 659. Great room with a spectacular view of the park across the street and beyond. .Excellent breakfast with great service. Very large variety of hot and cold items available. We love the historic building and the furnishings. The location was great and right next to the old center of Luxembourg. The only issue we had was that the room was too warm and lacking enough ventilation. Thankfully, we could open the windows for some fresh air, but we had to close them at night due the noise of the entertainment activity in the park until late at night. The other is the two single beds instead of one larger one so my wife and I could sleep together. I requested a double, queen or king, but the hotel said they did not have any. If not for the too warm room and single beds, I would rate this hotel 5 stars,

I'm all for a hotel with character and it doesn't necessarily need to be super slick or tidy but this hotel suffers from neglect and needs a major overhaul, bathroom was poorly maintained and generally needs a good lick of paint. Hotel opposite the panoramic elevator, quite tacky looking like a feeble attempt to replicate the London eye but closer to a 70's fairground ride. Noisy at night and could hear other guests going through their morning ritual in detail. On arrival told Monday no restaurant, no bar and Luxembourg dead… can't wait I thought!

A real gem in the heart of Luxembourg. Close to all the amenities and the free bus and trams is an added bonus. The hotel staff are very nice and extremely helpful. My pre-visit questions were answered promptly, as were the day-to-day enquiries. The rooms were comfortable with plenty of storage. Breakfast was fresh, plentiful and with lots of choice. We used the bar on our last evening and the service we received was excellent! Overall a great few days in Luxembourg in a great hotel. Thank you

I cannot say enough about this hotel and the staff. I arrived with no baggage as the airline had lost it. The gent on the front desk was so kind and gave me all the little things I needed. It was a bit warm in the room so a fan was provided. Breakfast was very nice. Definitely my favourite place to stay in the city.

I found this to be a wonderful hotel with great service and extremely friendly hosts. The breakfast is excellent with a wide selection of offerings from eggs to pastry's and fruit. Many rooms are not air conditioned so, if that is an issue, be certain to reserve a room that has AC. My first room did not have AC but, I was quickly moved to a room on the 6th floor with AC. It probably isn't an issue during most of the year but I suspect the late spring, summer and early fall might be uncomfortable for some folks. Regardless, this is a great choice for location and walking throughout the city.

This is a great hotel for a few days in Luxembourg. Everything you want to see is in easy walking distance and there's a close bus stop and tram stop. The breakfast was excellent. I had an issue with my door to the balcony and they fixed it rapidly. I'd stay here again!

This is a lovely old fashioned hotel in a great location .The main delight for me was the service which was all the time simply excellent .I've stayed at some of the best hotels in my time but this brought me back to how service used to be ,personal ,caring and unobtrusive . Some of the rooms are rather dated but that just adds to the charm .The bed linen is superb and the breakfast is excellent if not a but expensive but this is what this new world is like i guess . Great location and bar 🍸 with more excellent staff.If hoy want something different from a bland modern hotel at a good price I would highly recommend this hotel .My only negative comment is that I had a room on the back above the smaller roads with bars and shops which was a bit noisy at night I would book a room at the front if I went again .

Very friendly and attentive staff including the bar man who was very knowledgeable regarding cocktails and gave us a wonderful experience. Superb location, very central for activities, sights and restaurants. We would have expected some additional amenities for the price and 4* rating including the internet connection being unreliable at times. You could hear people using bathrooms in nearby rooms but as we were only here for one night we did not let this affect our rating. Breakfast was delicious, including fruits, cereals, pastries, breads and cheeses. NOTE - €250 deposit for one night (refundable). NOTE - very expensive already stocked mini bar in the room, you do have to pay for each item taken.

This hotel has its own atmosphere. Beautiful old school style with a little bit of sharped edges giving it the feeling of real place, not just scene. In my opinion French music from 1960-s suits this atmosphere perfectly. The waiters are gracious, mannerly, aristocratic (as for me). While breakfast I felt a little bit strange because of the atmosphere of aristocratic event. But the food was delicious and coffee was great. I could say that it's one of the most interesting hotels I've been, if there wasn't a single but important problem. Price. For Slavic me, the price was so high, that if it wasn't a business trip, I'd not stay there. Even though the price is huge, I think it's normal for luxury Luxembourg City. So. If you want to feel nostalgia or anemoia, admire marvelous staff and you have enough money, it's wonderful place!

Excellent location for Christmas markets and for exploring the city, breakfast area was busy but choice of food was good and staff friendly. Hotel took a large deposit for "extras" which we didn't use and it took over 5 days and an email to get it refunded which was disappointing. Our room was warm and clean, hotel is a bit dated in some areas but overall a good choice

The best hotel Ive stayed at in Luxembourg. The location was perfect for visiting Winter markets and taking busses and trams. Breakfast was delicious. This will be my go to hotel from now on. Value is excellent. The photos are the view from our room. The hotel staff were very kind and helpful.

Dear Mr Carlo Cravat, Location was perfect just opposite the Christmas market and lovely views of the city. Walking distance to the city centre, restaurants, bars etc. Room: very outdated rooms and bathrooms had that authentic touch but need a massive refurbishment considering the room rates offered. Heating was lovely as the weather was chilly. No plug-in stations / ports near the bed,had to use the socket in the bathroom. Room had basic amenities . Our room had a balcony which had a partial view of the market which was the bestseller Bathroom: good shower and bath amenities. The bathtub is small and can hardly have a shower without water being splashed on the floor even with a bath curtain Breakfast: absolutely delicious breakfast and amazing staff. Well done and the buffet had various choices and selections (local favourites). Check in / check out: quick check in by Betim, very straight to the point, no small talk either . Same on check out. Never asked how was the stay etc. *** the hotel charges (does not preauthorise) 250€ on check-in for incidental charges. I was told it will be refunded soon, I will give it another 3/5 business days for it to be credited back to my account *** Mr. Carlo, I hope you reading this: 1) please have your bathroom and few FF&E updated as they being long used and definitely need an upgrade in the similar fashion to the bathrooms, hopefully you have this planned and projected in your upcoming CaPex for 2025/2026. 2) the air freshener in the corridor is such a blow of Middle Eastern fragrance, it's nice but when it comes straight at you it's nothing just a massive migraine (may be it's just me). 3) the WiFi is so port that with one connection bar it's not worth it may be investing in some WiFi boosters could help other rooms on the floor as the router is placed near the elevator. 4) it was a nice gesture to receive 2 apples on arrival in the room brought by your lovely staff but I am sure considering the cost of a local amenity would help supporting local businesses This is my 2nd visit to LUX and my first visit at your hotel, hopefully by next year the bathroom renovations are done and rooms have some sort of an uplift.

We really enjoyed our time at the hotel. The location is great for the Chistmas markets.We had a nice big room which overlooked the market and the bathroom was spacious The hotel was tastefully decorated for Christmas. The staff were very friendly and very helpful. Breakfast which was included was very nice and there was plenty of choice. The bar staff were very attentive and there is a good atmosphere in the bar. Tom knows a lot about cocktails and made some good choices for us.

central hotel close to transport links clean spacious rooms and items such as coffee/tea replenished daily.The staff at front of house (concierge) are friendly and very helpful and you would be hard pressed to find a more pleasant place to relax in the evening with a drink in the eloquently furnished bar where there is an abundant drinks menu and excellent friendly staff

This one has probably been the best hotel in Luxemburg back in the days. It's still in a rather good shape and offers old-fashioned style. Good location, comfortable rooms and very good buffet breakfast.

Great to be visiting Luxembourg in time for the opening of the Christmas markets. The Grand Hotel Cravat is ideally situated in the city centre. The weather was excellent - cold but bright sunshine. Unfortunately I was in one of the central rooms with no view of the outside world, so I didn't get the full benefit of the sunshine.

It's been 6yrs since we were last back at the Cravat. And time has certainly worked its magic. They are clearly still in the process of modernising and you can seen it in the smaller things (new hairdryers!) and refreshed rooms. The hotel also seems to be full of new energy (a busy lobby bar is always a good sign) and overall, brighter spaces. But everything that was loved about this charming hotel have remained - old world charm in its decor and spacious well-appointed rooms. Slept like a baby. Staff are a little gruff but helpful, kind and knowledgeable (I personally still love them). And the turndown service with a crunchy red apple by your bedside always puts a smile on my face. Cocktails at the bar are excellent. Well worth a try. Location is good, you're away from the main tourist drag. It's a 4min walk to Place Guillaume II and the cathedral is (almost) a neighbour.

We had a very nice stay here over a long weekend. Its a traditional hotel stuck in time but a pleasure to experience compared to the modern clean lines of a sterile box. Its clean and reasonably well maintained and despite showing it's age, it gracefully offers the guest a chance to experience a time gone by before it gets taken over by a moderner. The classic room in which we stayed was basic but enough. Not tired but more hanging on. A few foibles to cope with but all works. The breakfast room is a delight. This room has been very well maintained without spoiling the original features. Really enjoyed my breakfast in some style. The food is good and there's something for everyone. Again soak it up. Go on a journey back in time. The staff are very good and professional. Very helpful.

I have to pay for €250 deposit and I still don't know when they will cancel the pending transaction even though the reception claimed that it's done by 12 PM on the day of check out. It's already more than four days after check out day.

I stayed at the Grand Hotel Cravat from October 3-5. My initial superior single room had a strong unpleasant odor coming from the bathroom and showed signs of wear, including stained carpet and marked walls. While I appreciate the hotel's historic charm, the maintenance felt somewhat neglected. I asked for a room change, but no other rooms at the same level were available. I was offered an upgrade to an executive-level room with a small discount due to the inconvenience. After a long day of travel, I accepted and paid an extra 90 euros for the stay. The upgraded room was much nicer — hardwood floors, a balcony, and noticeably cleaner. The staff, especially the gentleman at reception, were helpful and tried to accommodate me. The breakfast was excellent with a wide selection. If you don't mind some older decor and carpeted rooms with signs of wear, this hotel's location and charm make it a good choice.

The Grand Hotel Cravat is located on the edge of the old town in Luxembourg, directly opposite the Place de la Constitution and close to the cathedral. There are plenty of tram and bus stops nearby. The views from the hotel are excellent. It can get noisy at night when there is music playing in the square opposite but this doesn't tend to go on too late so didn't disrupt our sleep. The hotel is on a busy road so there is noise from traffic during the daytime. I would describe the style of the hotel as very traditional. The breakfast was OK but there wasn't a huge choice.

Checked out on Friday - it is now Tuesday and we are still waiting for our 250 euro deposit to be returned. We were told this would be done by Friday noon. Complained to them 3 times so far and everytime they tell me it is going to be resolved. As far as the hotel is concerned - rooms are dated (chipped paint, carpets grubby) and you can hear everything in nearby rooms. It's in a good location

Inform the quest upfront wit a short notice on paper what the services are : Breakfirst, Roomservice center with the nearest sightseeing and musea etc. Also if and when you can eat in the restaurant and how to do it.

That is about me as well as the hotel. Then you are difference is I still take care of of my appearance and speak to people in a kind manner. The room needs decorating, front desk advice and help is contradictory. We paid the £250 deposit on checking in. It was taken from our account immediately. On checking out we were told we would have the refund by noon. We didn't get it. I wrote to them, Heard nothing, Called 24 hours later to be told it may be Monday - really poor.

Perfectly located for visiting the Haute Ville with a nearby bus stop for bus 18 which brought me from the Gare to a block from the hotel.

Rooms large and comfortable. Overall very clean. Some aspects of the hotel could be updated like the carpets in the hotel.

Old world charm in a prime location! For this price this is definitely a hotel to recommend in Luxemburg! Our room was big and even though the bathroom was very retro it was spotlessly clean and very functional. The staff was very friendly and the fresh apples brought to our room was a lovely touch! A small but very nice gesture. Breakfast was good and the location could not be better in this city! The only little minus was the pillow, which was not very good. Didn't spoil the sleep though.

We had a great stay at this hotel. It is in a central location, and easily accessible from the train station. The room was spacious and comfortable. We enjoyed riding in the very old lifts between floors. The breakfast was varied and substantial. The only negative part was the WiFi which was very unpredictable.

A comfortable hotel with excellent staff and a friendly ambience. As a newcomer to Luxembourg, the experience couldn't be bettered. Not part of a chain - founded by a (?great-)grandfather of the current manager. And they cheerfully sorted out the mistake I made in my booking.

The Cravat Hotel is a charming, retro-style hotel located very centrally in Luxembourg City. Almost everything is within walking distance, and the tram stops very near. The hotel itself was very inviting, we felt as we had stepped through a portal into an earlier and more elegant time. The staff is friendly, polite and service-minded, in every way. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, but there is no aircondition and the room got very warm at night. This was easily remedied by borrowing a fan at the reception desk, but maybe the hotel should have mentioned this during check-in, if they know it might be a problem? Or just equip the rooms with fans? Breakfast was not included, and we opted to buy this separately - but feel that the price of 27 euros per person was a bit steep. Food choices and quality was fine, and we appreciated the attentive table service. All in all, we enjoyed our stay, but feel that the price for the hotel was a bit high, considering it was without AC or breakfast. I will still consider Cravat for future visits to Luxembourg.

Excellent hotel overall - old grandeur makes it unique compared to so many super modern hotels. Location is incredible - beautiful views and in the heart of the city. Staff are lovely and attentive. Everything is clean and well-maintained. Only things to consider - it can be noisy outside (which didn't bother me at all) but if you're a light sleeper, as for a quiet room. The double bed was two singles pushed together which is fine for a solo traveller. But if you're a couple, it would be a little uncomfortable. Small things but worth noting.

Excellent location for walking around Luxembourg, the staff were friendly and the hotel spotless. The bathroom did hark back to the 1970's but had a retro charm about it. Excellent breakfast and they definitely keep to the 'breakfast finishes at 10'!

Loved the hotel. Service was excellent, really clean, rooms were fab, beds were so comfortable also. We found the hotel to be excellent, something really quaint. Breakfast was great and the table cloths were so white. All of the staff were so pleasant from reception, the breakfast staff, the chamber maids and we had a laugh with the bar staff. I highly recommend the hotel to anyone and yes if we come back to Luxembourg we will not look any further than here.

the place is good, the best thing is its location , the decoration is nice if you want to feel yuo are in the late 60's , the breakfast was abit limited but the restaurant is charming

We had a lovely large first floor room looking out over the park and Petreuse Valley. Location is superb and loads of amenities in walkable distance. We had previously stayed at the Sofitel (when younger and fitter), and everywhere was so much nearer staying here. Good bar with helpful staff. Good choice at breakfast, Slightly disappointed with the single old fashioned key but we worked around it. Big windows opened wide which helped with the lack of aircon (as advertised) although it was slightly noisy. However traffic is not a problem in Luxembourg so not too much Traffic noise.

The Grand Cravat is an charming older style hotel. It's in the most fantastic location just a stones throw away from Hamilus, Place Des Amis, with fabulous views of the gold statue Gelle Fra and beyond. The only downsides to the Hotel were no air conditioning in the Summer months and a bulky old school key to the room. This didn't spoil our trip as we had a balcony and requested a fan in the room. The key we handed into Rasheed at Reception to look after. The hotel is full of character, two lifts one modern and an older style beautiful lift so nostalagic. The room was on 5th Floor, quiet and plenty big enough for us. It clean with crisp white linen and space. The bathroom was huge, with a small bath and no seperate shower. Didn't like the shower curtain or stepping into the bath to shower, it didn't ruin our trip. Good quality products for the shower, sink and a shower cap! Appreciated the shower cap and the cotton pads as I forgot to bring them! Breakfast on the 1st floor. Lovely setting although we arrived at breakfast around 9am and it had run out of some of the cheeses and fresh fruit. Still other cheeses to choose from and fresh melon and pinepple was still available. There was plenty to eat and appreciated the hot drinks brought to our table. We are not big cooked breakfast fans so can't comment on that aspect of the breakfast. The french sticks were fresh and tasty. The only think I missed was freshly squeezed orange juice. I loved the little details of the hotel especially the lift mat with the greeting and the days of the week each day changed - love that. Finally, thanks to Rasheed on Reception for helping us during our stay. He was so kind and helpful. I would come back.

I finally got around to do a tripadvisor review on this hotel. The hotel is so beautiful, well preserved yet modernised wherever needed. The view from our room was breathtaking ♥️ the bed was super comfy and the breakfast was very diverse and tasty! The staff are incredibly nice, accommodating and welcoming! We spent the weekend there and felt amazing!! Please try their cocktails in their cocktail bar! They are to die for!

Great location, access to many sites, hotel clean all over. Right from check in the staff were friendly and professional. Check in was fast! Breakfast was superb!

I specifically chose to book a junior suite at this hotel based on its amenities vs. the other rooms. The hotel's website states that the only rooms with air conditioning are the junior suites. Our room did not have AC. The overnight front desk agent told us our room (550) was NOT a junior suite. He provided us with a fan. We did not sleep well and decided we would move to a different hotel. The morning front desk agent told us that our room was indeed a junior suite, and that NONE of the rooms there had AC. He stated that he's worked there for 33 years and still argued with us about the room AC despite me showing him the statement about it from the hotel's own website!! Why did we get lied to? This was not a fun way to begin our 25th anniversary vacation.

It's a great location near the city center which is very nice. It's a very traditional European hotel, old fashioned key ( which I found difficult to get the door open), few amenities in the room (no coffee maker, very few electrical outlets, no AC). And the towels were stiff and not very fluffy. Some of the staff were very nice but we were docked with a surprise charge when checking out. I had accidentally reserved for one person and it was two, and even though the room had two twin beds, I had to pay 70 more euros. I told them I had just made a mistake online when booking but they were quite adamant and I had to pay the extra charge. So BEWARE— be sure to put the right number of people so you can see the real cost! It is also on a very busy road so I found it noisy but I got used to it the second night. And it was cooler, so we didn't mind not having AC, it was cool. Book this if you want a great location and a classic old fashioned hotel.

Excellent service with very friendly staff. Excellent location in the old town with everything within walking distance. The only down side that we found were that the beds were quite uncomfortably soft and small for double beds.

Good sized bathroom, dirty toilet, worn bath, shower over bath with curtain, cracked tiles, and no extractor. No A/C. Fan requested but none in room. Had to ask again ! Room OK, stained carpet, Paint chipped, insufficient pillows. Insufficient power sockets. Those that were there were in awkward positions (under chairs, behind cupboards, etc.) Claims of "preserving heritage" are hypocritical. It has plastic windows and space in ceiling for A/C. Bar and restaurant not open on Monday in an international destination!!! Management needs to have a long hard think about the value of these rooms from a customers' point of view. Not worth it's 4 Star rating.

What a lovely hotel clean spacious rooms decorated in a classic style , reception man was wonderful very helpful , slight issue not enough coffee sachets in room and you had run out of milk !

Nice hotel in terrific location - within walking distance to the Ducal Palace and the cathedral. Carpet and furniture a little on the frayed side but still ok. Nice breakfast but if you're solo, you don't get to sit near the windows - those tables are reserved for couples.

My wife and I loved everything about Cravat Hotel. The room was very nice and comfortable, also with a lot of character. The staff were incredibly nice and helpful. Special thanks goes to Mentor (apologies if that's not the correct spelling) who was extremely helpful in making arrangements for our delayed luggage. Others were very nice, professional and friendly too and were always happy to help. The breakfast was great and the location is fantastic. Very centrally located with easy access to everything.

Wonderful and helpful service. They went out of their way to help us recover our lost baggage, they informed us of where to eat and how to get around. All around, amazing hotel

I do not recommend this hotel. Europe is going through a very hot spell and the hotel had no air conditioning. Nobody could sleep. The breakfast was very poor, the fruit juices are canned, there is no fruit variety and no natural yogurt. I cant understand how this hotel has 4 stars with a price of a 5 star hotel? However the staff is lovely. Especially Sara that does the breakfasts.

Hotel is very convenient to the train station and tram into City. Room comfortable and quiet. Did not do the breakfast buffet so no comment on that.

Dated hotel with charm. Room was big with big bathroom. Location is brilliant. No Ac. No hotel parking. Lovely staff. No decaf at breakfast. The extra safety lock was useless - see pic, nothing to hook it into. Breakfast was nice but could be better. Would have loved boiled eggs or more bread options or strawberries or some paté. All in all a pleasant stay.

Loved this hotel! Cosimo on reception was polite, professional, and welcoming. I was delighted to be allocated a room on an upper floor, with a balcony and a nice view. My room was very comfortable, especially the bed! The hotel is 100 years old and has plenty of character. I also loved the charming bar and friendly staff. They make great bespoke cocktails! The hotel is directly opposite the Monument of Remambrance and Luxembourg 360°. The cathedral is literally next door to the hotel, and all the sights of the old town can be reached within a 10 minutes walk. Buses stop close by, trams a 5 minutes walk away, all public transport in Luxembourg is free, just walk on. There are lots of eateries and bars close by and a restaurant next door. I had an excellent stay.

It is exactly what they say it is - a grand old hotel. Facilities are therefore as expected, but the hotel is very well maintained and presented.

I really like staying at the Cravat hotel. Everything was so clean and comfortable. The rooms are really spacious

Excellent customer service and amazing location!! The room and all staff 100% … really recommended !!

Our room didn't have an Air conditioning and that was a problem because we had to sleep with the windows open and it was noisy other than that it was fine

Retro charm, in very central location, staff super helpful & good breakfast. Some updating needed but the retro elegance is part of the hotel's charm - & they are transparent about that. There is no air-con.

The hotel's location is wonderful, but the service we received was just average. We understand check-in time, but also the possibility (if the room is available) to check-in early. It was the first time in all the years we've been traveling when an early check-in was refused because of "rules". We were jet lagged and overslept the next day, and got downstairs for breakfast at 9:47, when we were told we have 10 min to eat, because the room was needed for an event at 10. Again, a first. We wanted to take a croissant and a cup of coffee to the room, but that was not allowed either. Rules....There was no attempt to maybe set up a small place at the bar or in the lobby for us to have a small breakfast. Some good things: good shower pressure, nice pillows. Things that can be improved: the very slippery shower, and adding some body lotion to the 2 tiny shampoo and conditioner bottles. This is a 4-star hotel after all....

Beautiful Luxembourg ! Grand Hôtel Cravat has nice and clean rooms. Very comfortable bedding. Great breakfast with everything you could want. The bar in the lobby has a new and trendy touch where they serve wonderful drinks. The hotel is very centrally located and most rooms have a fantastic view of the valley. Highly recommended!

Old fashioned, but quite quaint hotel, located centrally, but on a very busy A Road. Could not open window to cool the room as the busy traffic flew past until the early hours. Only able to sleep using earplugs. Comfortable beds but thin pillows meant we needed to ask for 2 additional ones to not feel we had empty pillowcases to sleep on! Hotel in need of an update, however staff were friendly and it was easy to get to the lower old town / most places we wanted to visit. Breakfast was only 'ok' - little choice for vegetarians and the only eggs available were scrambled. The fresh fruit was welcome. I would rate the hotel 3* (not 4*) and would not recommend, mainly due to the noise of the road, limited vegetarian / vegan breakfast choices and no way to cool the room (no Air Con). Bath was a good thing to have and shower was powerful (old fashioned shower curtain across bath). Install some up-to-date bathrooms and provide more of a 4* breakfast - this would improve the hotel facilities.

We enjoyed our recent stay at this hotel. Check in was very quick and efficient. Our room was large, bed comfy, WiFi without issue, good water pressure in shower, clean and although we faced the street, we were not bothered by any noise. We slept like babies. Breakfast was a nice assortment of eggs, sausage, baked beans and a variety of breads, cereals, yogurts and fruit. Tea service at the table by polite and efficient waiters. We loved the character of the building and the furnishings. If you prefer contemporary clean lines and metal this is not your place. If you prefer a warm, friendly hotel that generations of family have poured their hearts into then this is for you. Oh and location is ideal. We could walk 2 minutes and get on free public transportation to anywhere in the city. It was a 5 minute walk to the cathedral. And the side street by the hotel is loaded with shopping and dining options.

The hotel is ideally located on the very edge of the tourist centre but the room was very quiet. The room was clean and comfortable and we loved the apples beaide our beds each evening upon returning to our room. All the staff were extremely friendly, helpful and welcoming. The buffet breakfast was great, with incredible service from the attendants.

Superb hotel with old world charm. Centrally placed, only 5 minutes walk from the bus stop at Hamilius.The rooms were clean and the beds super comfortable. The breakfast room was elegant, the food adequate and the waiters very eager to clear your plates away. The cocktails at the bar were second to none, with very polite and attentive waiters. The reception staff were also polite and very helpful when we asked for directions. We loved the way the carpet in the lift was changed daily, with the day of the week written in the pile of the carpet. The hotel foyer smelt beautiful too.

This was a nice hotel with comfy beds and possibly the best shower I have ever experienced. The staff were “mostly” friendly the only downside was the male waiter who served breakfast who made us feel stupid because we didn't know how things worked. I would say they take a charge off you on arrival which for us was £200+ but this was refunded promptly on checking out. The hotel is in a perfect location and we were able to get everywhere we needed to very easily. Would definitely recommend this hotel but just be nicer to your guests at breakfast

Perfectly situated in the heart of the old city, this hotel is classic, elegant, beautiful, and comfortable, staffed with professionals delivering impeccable service and attention to their guests. The room was spacious and beautifully furnished. The breakfast offered a broad range of options, well prepared, and served with style. The superb cocktail bar off the lobby was an engaging and unexpected bonus.

This stay turned out to be a very easy and nice experience. There is no Hotel parking so if you arrive via auto you must use public parking. There is a parking garage literally around the corner. The location was on the Rue FDR and was again, just across the street from one of the Christmas markets. My room was on the third floor and I was provided a room which had an excellent view of the Market, The room was spacious and clean. There were also shutters which when closed kept all the traffic noise out. The front dest was helpful answering questions and held my bags until my room was ready, The breakfast was also all you could eat and with a wonderful selection. This was a great choice.

Very disappointed with our stay here in early Nov. 1) We had extremely poor WIFI on 2 of the 3 nights. The WIFI router would disappear and drop signal for 5 minutes, and then reappear and work again for 15 minutes before dropping again. This repeated for multiple hours. It was the worst hotel WIFI I've had in years. I wouldn't be able to stay here on business, as the WIFI was just not reliable enough. 2) We requested a 1-hour late check out the afternoon before our departure. We were told we'd have to ask again that evening, which we did, and then were told that no one could make such a decision until the following morning when the owner was in. Because we wanted to book a timed attraction ticket that evening, their non-answer was of no use to us. I've never been at a hotel that couldn't confirm my check out time until the departure day. So much for my (alleged) Best Western Diamond Select benefit. 3) We spent Best Western points on this stay, so when we checked out, I did not request an invoice (nor was I offered one), as I expected it to show zero charges. However, when we got home, I found a 33 EUR charge made a week before my arrival, and then a second 33 EUR charge made on checkout. I guessed it could be a city tax of 11 EUR per night x 3 nights, but even that would not explain the second charge. I requested an explanation of these charges and the removal of the second charge using the hotel's official communications form. It's been weeks and the hotel has not responded. I had to get the second charge reversed by going through my credit card company. Luxembourg is a beautiful city, and I plan on returning, but I will stay at a different hotel next time.

We had a wonderful stay to visit the Christmas Markets and see the sights of Luxembourg. The hotel is perfectly located in the center of it all. We loved the view from our room of the ferris wheel and Christmas pyramid at one of the markets. The bartender was excellent as was the cocktail he made for me. It was easy to tell how much he loves his craft and I really enjoyed my time there and the conversation we shared.

Warm and welcoming old fashioned hotel - comfort is clearly a priority, from the armchairs in the lobby to the attentiveness of the breakfast staff and the concierges. Was happy to come back from my meeting in the evening: even though it was the first time I'd been here there was still that feeling of coming home. Also a pleasure to have proper lighting - recently « modern » hotels( and many restaurants) seem to prefer designer spotlights which leave much of the surrounding area in the dark. This probably dates me, but I'd rathe see where I'm going and have warm lighting in my room. The hotel Cravat id comfortable. Ideally situated, you can walk to most places, including a five minute walk to the main tram line. The only surprise was having to pay a 250euro deposit on arrival which was then returned when I checked out and the room was checked. A first for me, but not a problem. All I can think is that they must get a lot of Rock stars who trash the rooms… Will definitely be back.

Lovely hotel but rude staff. I arrived early at 1 pm on Tuesday 26th November and was rudely told by the gentleman to return at 2.30 to check in. Returned at 3.15 to be told room not ready- wait 10 mins. Meanwhile a guy calls in for room, unhooked, given a room room immediately! I enquire again - wait 3 mins. Eventually in 90 mins late with no real apology! Ventured into nice looking drinks area. Asked for tea - no tea I am told. Asked for sprite - no sprite I am told. Take a seat , we' ll come to your table. When they do, asked to move to a smaller table as might get larger group in. This never happened in this empty bar. Writer tried really hard to push us into a cocktail we didn't want. Terrible service - I should have left! Staff training needed in this hotel. The delay could have been managed so much better than it was and the waiter needs some guidance too! Spoilt our stay - never again at the pricey hotel!

This hotel was in the perfect location as our base for our first trip to Luxembourg. I travelled with my 80 year old Mother. We had a twin room with a view of the valley. We had breakfast included, which was a really nice buffet. The staff were really helpful, it was also close to the bus stop to take us back to the airport. All public transport is free in Luxembourg which is brilliant!

The hotel was everything we needed. We were able to walk to most of the things we wanted to see and there were nearby restaurants.

Really nice hotel close to where you want to be. Nice staff, comfortable spacious room. Decorated with antique furniture. Bathroom was big with separated toilet. Water pressure was wonderful. I would definitely stay there again.

When we were researching where to stay, we wanted to find something in the city square. We finally decided to stay at the Grand Hotel Cravat. We are very happy with our decision. I booked directly with Grand Hotel Cravat and Symphorien (manager) helped me with the reservation Email communication went smoothly and the price I was quoted was the price I paid. The Grand Hotel Cravat was only a few blocks from the humulus bus stop. We took a bus from the airport when we arrived and it was an easy walk to the hotel. The staff at the hotel were extremely friendly. Betim (front desk) always greeted us with a smile and was a good source of city information. Each morning we had the hotel breakfast, it was fabulous. Senad was one of our waiters and was always welcoming. He brought us apot of coffee every morning and refills as needed. Finally Fatma cleaned our room most days we were there and always greeted us with a smile and friendly word. If you are looking for a reasonably price hotel for the area, with great staff in the old town, the Hotel Grand Cravat is the place for you. Tourist information was less than a block away along with many good eating establishments.

We chose to stay at Grand Hotel Cravat based on proximity to the old part of the city and the Grund. We found out later the hotel was the headquarters for the American troops at the end of World War II. General Bradley stayed there with his troops and there's actually an autographed picture of him in the lobby along with an article written by Walter Cronkite! It was a great location less than two blocks from Place d'Armes and 2 1/2 from Place Guilliame II. Our room overlooked the Grund (the Azlette River valley) and the Gelle Fra (yellow lady). We were next to the Cathedral Notre Dame, and we heard the bells tolling the hours as well as the ringing for Mass. The reception desk has someone there 24 hours a day. Very nice gentlemen. And we had real keys! Breakfast in the morning was served in Le Normandy. It included eggs and bacon, traditional French croissant and baguette, fruits, yogurts, and you could order an omelette for a little extra charge. And the Trianon Bar had just opened this past March—we had the pleasure on our last evening to meet Tom, who is the manager and bartender—but more than just a drink maker, a real mixologist artist. It is a cocktail bar and will be serving Luxembourgish wines in the next couple weeks. It has a US “speakeasy” vibe. It was overall a wonderful experience, a perfect location and so charming. Highly recommend both the bar and the hotel.

Our hotel of choice when we visit Luxembourg. The charm of a traditional Luxembourgish welcome will always greet you. Right in the centre of the old city and just a short walk to the palace, the old fortifications and some of the best restaurants and cafes in Europe. The Grand Rue has every fashion brand you can think of. We love the comfortable rooms and the spectacular views. Highly recommended.

more than 2hours after the first possible check in time, the room still wasn't available. after waiting for more than half an hour the receptionist changed my booking to another room, which was supposedly an upgrade, but wasn't;t the superior double with a view of the valley that I had booked, but an economy single with no view at all. frustrated about the delayed check in I only realised this later. confronting the receptionist lead to a very unprofessional and angry reaction, it was all booking.com's fault. very unsatisfying!

The hotel was not modern, but it had a traditional feel and warmth to it, perfect for the old town of Luxembourg. Staff were helpful and always welcomed us when we returned. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Luxembourg isn't big and you can easily walk around it but the hotel was in the perfect place to get to everywhere we wanted to go very easily and just outside the door is the most magnificent view of the valley.

Hotel is ideally placed for walking around the city. Eateries nearby, plus cathedral and viewpoint. Room was comfortable. No air conditioning, so had to open the windows. Mattress slightly softer than I prefer. Bathroom was huge. Shower curtain could do with being longer given its fixed position and the shower being in the middle of the bath's length. Main issue for us was that there is NO parking for high vehicles nearby. Everything is under ground and 2 metres and under. Our options were carrying our luggage for 15 or 18 minutes or getting park and ride. Not the hotel's fault, and they communicated well with us on it. But one for potential visitors to be aware of if you're in a van, camper van or with a roof box.

We knew there was no air con, but didn't realise there would be no fan. Intense traffic noise meant window had to be closed. Very uncomfortable. Pity, because otherwise hotel very good - location, staff, breakfast.

Having visited 69 Countries and written 240 Tripadvisor reviews this hotel qualifies as the worst ever. With no air-conditioning and limited number of fans which was provided on the second day thanks to very helpful front office staff. No exhaust fans in bathrooms. No room service either or laundry either. Housekeeping disappears after 2 pm. The bar has excellent Cocktails. Noise in case you are street facing and stuffy if room faces the Shaft. Great stay for 1 night in Luxembourg. Very spacious rooms and accommodating staff, with a good location to the walking streets nearby. I was offered clear instructions on where I could leave my motorcycle safely. Overall a very positive experience in the hotel.

A lovely hotel, beautifully maintained in period style, very old passenger lift and the bar dates back to the1940s. Staff are helpful and pleasant especially the bar staff who went to lengths to make our visit comfortable, and giving us background on the hotel etc. The room was very comfortable, has extra comfy chairs for relaxing and our room had a small balcony with French doors. When opened we had a lovely breeze that helped with the heat at the time. Whilst I understand the hotel is trying to maintain the original ambience of the hotel, the bathroom is dated and could be updated without losing the period ambience. The hotel is situated adjacent to many restaurants and places of interest. Definitely recommended

This hotel is really beautiful and quaint. My room was wonderful with a little balcony, the service was excellent, the bar was great. I really enjoyed my stay here.

It is a beautiful old hotel in an ideal location for touring old Luxembourg, as it is right outside the front doors. The bed was very comfortable, the room very nicely appointed and the bathroom spacious, clean and beautiful. The staff are super helpful, until you have a problem. Then, not so much. I asked for a taxi to take me to the train station an hour before my train was to leave. (5 minutes away) I was told to take the bus because 'all busses go to the train station'. They do not. I missed my train, by a lot, and was unable to find any similar trains for that evening. Upon returning to the hotel to ask for another night's stay, I was lambasted for being stupid for a) missing my train, and b) not finding a new one. The front desk guy (who had 'helped me') refused to book a room for me for the night. In good conscious, I cannot recommend this hotel because of this behavior. Take that for what it is worth. BTW, the man at the front desk is either part of the Cravat family or has been working there for 40 years. This was not some 'kid' who didn't know what he was doing. I'm not saying he intended for me to miss my train, but he did intend to berate me and make me feel stupid and refuse to look for a room for me for the next night. I ended up booking a hotel at the airport and flying to my next destination the following morning. This 'help' the front desk man gave me cost at least $700. With that kind of 'help', who needs enemies?

Superb location in centre of Old Luxembourg. Reasonably priced and easy walk to cathedral, grand ducal palace, shops including small supermarkets, and trams and buses. Opposite new public square and about 1.5 ks from train station. T1 tram (free, like all public transport in Lux) brings you a block from hotel. Magnificent breakfast. Comfortable beds and large room.

I loved the fashioned lift. They kept the charming parts of the old hotel and updated the necessary parts. The bathroom tile is gorgeous, bed comfortable, pillows soft. And it's such an easy tram/bus trip from the train station. I actually shared a lift with Monsieur Cravat, this hotel is in their blood. Will stay again!

Hotel is horrible. No air conditioning, bathrooms small and bathroom door falling apart. Customer service at FD horrible and arrogant. Complaining does not help since Engineering Dep does not seem to exist. Finally received letter from the Manager Mr. Carlo Cravat that the next time I should stay in a different hotel. Avoid this hotel at all cost please.

I stayed in this hotel for two nights. The hotel has perfect central location in between two Christmas markets in Luxembourg City. The hotel outlook is nice but rooms are outdated, and renovations are mandatory. I was travelling with my sister who had an emergency and had to leave immediately after arriving to Luxembourg. I asked the receptionist to change the accommodation from double room to single room, he said the hotel is fully booked and no rooms are available. I was lucky to have free cancellation until 4:00 PM on the arrival date, so I cancelled my booking after the check-in and simultaneously booked a single room in the same hotel. Obviously, there were available single rooms, contrary to what the receptionist said.

Location, location… the perfect location and gateway for exploring beautiful Luxembourg City. The Grand Cravat is in the mode of a traditional European-styled hotel with its old-world charm and lovely accommodations throughout. They even have the oldest operating elevator in the city that harks back to its genteel days. Our top floor room with a view, #626, gave us a grand vista; staring out across to the golden Gëlle Fra statue in Constitution Square just across the street, and views of the countryside beyond. Comfortable, European-style bedding made for a wonderful night's sleep; especially with windows that opened for some fresh air. Their buffet breakfast provides an ample variety of selections; all provided in a spacious, well-lit dining room. Friendly, front desk staff were helpful and accommodating. If comfort, charm and convenience are what you're looking for, the Grand Hotel Cravat is ideal.

This is a wonderful boutique hotel and they go out of their way to make your stay wonderful. Breakfast area is beautiful and every room is unique. This was my second time staying here

We had a wonderful 4-night stay in the Grand Hotel Cravat and could not have wished for more. The experience will not disappoint fans of Wes Anderson and Amor Towles as this is a wonderful blend of contemporary and history (with a bit of whimsy). The breakfast was excellent and no visit would be complete without a drink in Le Trianon bar with your host Tom. Highly recommended for those wishing to be transported to another place and time. You could not ask for a better location in Luxembourg City and the staff are amazing. Can't wait to return for another adventure.

This is a lovely place to stay in the heart of the city. The room was reasonably spacious. The bathroom is quite nice but does lack shelf space, which is certainly valuable for travelers. The staff were very kind and accommodating. It is a bit Old World and charming.

Great location. Front desk was super kind and helpful. However, as entering the hotel there is a scent that reminded me of an old grandmas house. Gave me a headache super strong. The rooms were spacious and clean. Super loud traffic noise that kept me up most of the night (single pane windows ). The walking everywhere was the best part of the hotel.

The Le Trianon Cocktail bar was amazing! The night we arrived, they hosted “espresso martini” night with homemade macarons! Tom Herber, who recently joined the bar, made us feel right at home. Providing amazing drinks, great atmosphere and introduced us to another couple who we spent several hours with! We were late for dinner because we were having so much fun!! Thanks Tom!

Having stayed at Grand Hotel Cravat previously in 2017, we were delighted to find its charm and comfort unchanged. We are happy to recommend it to anyone who is seeking old world ambience and classic service.

Great location and delicious breakfast. Staff was very helpful and friendly. The bar wasn't open the night we wanted to meet with a friend, so that was a bummer. Carpet is getting worn and could use an upgrade.

The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful, and they could all speak English. The room was a typical small European style room, but the bathroom was nice-sized and recently updated. The bar area is a good spot to unwind after walking the city. Breakfast was slightly above average with excellent fruit available.

Friendly, charming, excellent location. This hotel is like stepping back in time in many ways. It has a lot of original charm. Very comfortable beds. The breakfast caters for a variety of preferences, lots of fruit, plain yoghurt, cooked choices, selection of coffee, pastries, scrambled eggs which were very nice. The staff are friendly and helpful. The €250 deposit was refunded on the day of departure as had been promised. Early check in was not available when we arrived and we were informed the rooms are ready from 2pm but often 2:30 to 3:00, not a problem and not unusual but something to help you plan your visit. There are many shops and restaurants locally.

Hairdryer connected to the wall is not a hairdryer especially when you have a long hair it must be replaced in all rooms. In addition, room with the view on the wall is not a good one. Scrambled eggs should be done from eggs not instant it must change as well.

The location is wonderful, we could walk everywhere, although with free public transport, it was very easy to get anywhere. The hotel has an old-world charm, good quality, helpful staff, and provides a great breakfast in serene surroundings. My only tip is to check if they have a function booked for the evening - we had looked forward to a quiet drink in the charming Trianon bar only to find a private party in full swing, and loud music until late.

Wonderful place in a superb location. Luxembourg is a lovely city and GHC is close to everything. The hotel is very old and kept the old and historical charm with furniture, decor, and all. You feel like you step in to early 1900s as soon as you walk in. The breakfast is very very good. It is really worth the money and a great experience.

Delightful hotel right round the corner from the large square and several restaurants.the only caveat was no air conditioning however, the desk manager did offer a fan which was a godsend in the unprecedented heat.

We have have just returned from a great three night stay at the Grand Hotel Cravat. The hotel is full of old world charm and is perfectly lovated for sightseeing this beautiful city. The view from our 3rd floor room of the Golden Lady and the Adolphe Bridge was spectacular. We found all the staff from the reception, restaurant and room cleaning to be helpful, efficient and friendly. As our experince was so good we would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to friends and family who wish to visit Luxembourg.

Great location for exploring Luxembourg. Lovely lounge area. Room was nice, but very hot and a lot of street noise. We asked for a fan the 2nd night and that helped. I had written ahead of time to get directions from the station. A short note told me to catch a bus, but in fact the tram is much easier and a short, flat walk to the hotel. All the staff were helpful and friendly - except the concierge on duty upon our arrival. Our train from Brussels was stopped en route and we had to sit outside the station, in the very hot sun, for 3 hours waiting for a replacement bus. I sent an email about our late arrival and then another passenger let me use her phone to call, as I was unable to connect using the U.K. phone. We were scolded for missing our dinner reservation which was not very welcoming after our terrible journey.

A wonderful classic hotel in the heart of the city. The staff, from reception to the restaurant, was old school in their excellent customer service. The breakfast was diverse and high quality, as was the fully refurbished room.

We like staying in older hotels and this hotel had that old world charm! The staff was very polite and helpful! The room was huge and the little balcony a nice touch! I haven't seen bathroom fixtures that color of green since…the 60s? Anyway, everything was very comfortable and the breakfast very substantial! Only reason I gave it a 4 was the noise outside very early in the morning. Probably nothing the hotel can do about that - just be aware! The shower had the potential to flood the bathroom if the shower curtain wasn't just so and the water was at full flow!

Wonderful, clean, friendly, helpful hotel. The room was super and the staff were excellent. The breakfast was superb! It was very central to all the sights, shopping, restaurants, parks and the magnificent cathedral.

Dated and very noisy accommodation. Location is very central but that comes with a price - noise. Impossible to sleep with windows open. Reception staff were extremely friendly. Expensive for what it is.

The hotel is very nice, the staff courteous and effcient, the location brilliant, the breakfast room is beautiful, as is the presentation and variety offered, the room had a wonderful view, too bad it was very hot, a fan would have been an optimal extra for the bedroom. Nice hotel in central Luxembourg. Very good service at the reception desk as well as the hotel bar and the breakfast restaurant. The shower was roomy and very nice. I even had a little balcony overlooking the "Golden Lady" monument.

Have stayed at the Grand Hotel Cravat before and will certainly stay again. Ideal location with public car park adjacent. Friendly and helpful staff but it's a shame the restaurant wasn't open and appeared to have been closed for some time. Having said that there are lots of good restaurants very close to the hotel.

Place has a great old school feel and vibe, great location and great price. Couldn't say a bad thing about it. Walked to dinner and nightlife no more than 10 minutes away. Covered parking is close and there's an open air parking lot across the street.

I am staying here now. Here are the pros: every staff member I have dealt with has been wonderful with one exception. The lobby is beautiful. For me however, I would never stay here again. This is my second time in Europe, and at least my tenth city in Europe. This is the most dated, hot, stuffy room that I have ever been in. The bath/shower combo is so high that stepping down is very precarious, and I am fully able-bodied. This room and the bathroom layout do not look anything like any room on their website. While I understand that most hotels post their nicest rooms, they usually give some idea of the different levels. Finally, it is almost midnight, and while I understand I am staying in the city center, there's no mention of a nightclub or venue on one side of the hotel that sounds like it is inside of our room. Normally that would not be a problem but we have an all day excursion tomorrow and need to be up at 6 AM. I might feel a bit better if I could at least cool off after a long day of walking all over. I'm not a fan

This hotel is perfectly located with the valley right ahead and the city centre right behind including plenty of shops and restaurants. I have attached pictures of our hotel room and view from our balcony which was lovely. The city is beautiful and really welcoming (including for an LGBT+ traveller). The hotel has an old-style charm and is lovely, the staff are attentive and helpful. The bar says it opens from 4pm but unfortunately it was not open at all during our stay. The breakfast was good and good value for money. I definitely recommend this hotel and the breakfast, and staying in Luxembourg in general!

AC should be in four star hotels please there's no surviving the heat of Luxembourg in summer staying in an hotel like this. Hotel so old but there should be a decent way to cool off the room. Or please conspicuously place the caveat on your website so seen before booking

This hotel was located only a two minute walk from the main centre in the pedestrian only part of town. It was also just near the medieval walls. A 15 minute walk from the main train station, or the Number 1 tram, takes you near the hotel. The staff were exceptional, hotel clean and comfortable. Great breakfast as well. A lovely older styled hotel and highly recommended.

Bed was of medium quality, no airco and warm in the room. Opening the window at a very busy street is not really comfortable. Personell was friendly and breakfast was ok. Overall price vs quality not ok, paid 240 euro for 1 night

We really enjoyed our stay in the hotel. The hotel gave us a very spacious room with quaint, period, furniture. The views were very good, too. The breakfast was good and the staff members were all helpful and friendly. We also liked the art deco decor and the period lifts.

Really comfortable and friendly hotel in a perfect location for exploring city. Close to buses to / from the airport, the rooms are large, offering great views of Luxembourg. Don't let the lack of aircon put you off, was still comfortable even with it being thirty degrees outside.

Our view was outstanding! Our windows overlooked the Place de la Constitution and war monument, the Adolphe Bridge, and the valley—gorgeous! The desk clerk was friendly and very helpful; he clearly wanted us to have a great experience. While a few things are a bit dated, they add to the charm; everything was spotless and kept up well. It's located right near a small grocery store and many places to eat.

A nice convenient hotel close to both the centre and old town. A great authentic hotel, beautiful classic rooms. The breakfast included was great, plenty of selection for all nationalities. The bar was a very relaxing place to chill of an evening with a nationally acclaimed cocktail waiter who made all the classics but also his own concoctions. The concierge on duty 24/7 were friendly knowledgable and willing to help. Overall a good option for families and business people alike

I was visiting Luxembourg and had a bit of trouble getting my bearings so I went to the Grand Hotel Cravat to get some assistance in finding my way around the city. The staff at reception were very friendly and helpful and gave me a map to help me find my way around. Perfect customer service!

The hotel is old fashioned but it part of its charm. It is very well located. The breakfast is great (no gluten free option though). The only bad experience is about invoicing : the booking was for tree and they added a supplement for the 3rd bed. I Don t even know if this is legal. It is anyway unfair. And one should not have this kind of discussion in 4 star hotel.

Everything was lovely. The staff was incredible. The food was delicious. The location was fantastic. The bar was closed because of staff shortage, but I understand that happens sometimes. The issue was when I came home late one night, the doors were locked and no one was at the desk. I was locked out in the cold for 30 minutes before I was able to get in. This was quite frustrating and uncomfortable.

It feels like taking a step back into old day grandeur.When wood finishes and big rooms with high ceilings was the norm. Beautiful location, view, rooms and some great personal touches that has been forgotten by many new hotels and groups.

Great hotel right next to Christmas market. Very friendly staff. Place was spotless. Nice breakfast in the morning.They have a sitting area by the fire place , with a big screen tv..The bar is near by .They do not have parking. So you must use public parking areas..But the trams are free to ride.

We stayed here last week and had a great time. All staff were helpful, from the reception, to house keeping to the waiters/waitresses. We felt at home. The hotel was spotless, the decor was beautiful, the location is so convenient. Will stay here again!

I enjoyed staying here. Room was quiet and I had a cute little balcony. Staff in the breakfast restaurant were very kind and the food was tasty. Front desk staff were great. Would definitely stay again on my next trip. The area is close to everything and you can take a bus from the airport without any fuss.

First and foremost, a well located hotel full of charm. Period features with a stunning bar area. Helpful and cheerful staff. We "put up" with our bathroom for this reason. It was a period classic but probably not to many peoples taste who would call it - with some justification - dated. Poor shower but very clean. Kettle only worked if the main light was on! Good choice at breakfast in another lovely room - but the hot offer was not good. While the bar is a gem, the service was a bit chaotic - to the extent it was entertaining! I get the impression this hotel can get away with things others wouldn't - I would definitely return despite some issues.

No air conditioning or fan which would be a problem in summer, Price was a bit expensive for what it is compared to similar hotels, Rooms could benefit from being updated, location is good and staff friendly.

Truly grand in the sense of age and decor the hotel is conveniently located and offers spacious rooms at a reasonable price. Note that there is not any air conditioning and the heat is centrally controlled. Therefore, on warm days ventilation could be a problem for some. While it is located on a busy thoroughfare the noise, in the evenings, is minimal. Hotel staff is efficient and responsive and the location is within easy walking distance of many interesting parts of the city.

I had a lovely three-day stay in October at the Grand Hotel Cravat. The hotel is conveniently located in the old town on Place de la Constitution near the cathedral, the Grand Ducal Palace, Place d'Armes, and Place Guillaume II. Restaurants and shops at all spending levels abound. My son had stayed there in January and had recommended it. My room was a spacious and comfortable junior suite on the fifth floor. The toiletries included the honey-based Nuxe bath gel and shampoo, which I liked so much that I plan to order some for home. Breakfast was served in an elegant room and included a wide variety of hot and cold buffet items. One evening I enjoyed a glass of crémant from Luxembourg in the bar. The hotel doesn't have a restaurant on site, but there are many places to eat lunch and dinner within a few minutes' walk. Everyone on the staff was polite, friendly, welcoming, and helpful. Two of them even remembered me and my room number. All of the front desk attendants were very helpful with directions, taxis, wake-up calls, and recommendations for restaurants serving local specialties. When I couldn't figure out how to work my TV, Reynaldo arrived within 15 minutes, discovered the problem, and took care of it. Booking was easy through Booking.com, and so was messaging when I had questions before my trip. Responses from hotel staff were quick and thorough. The next time I visit Luxembourg, Grand Hotel Cravat will be my first choice.

A pleasant stay; the location is excellent, close to the Old Town, and city centre. The breakfast buffet was extensive. Good stay, although the room was a little noisy. The toilet seat was loose, however, and was not fixed.

Not much more to say, the Grand Hotel has its best times behind. Maybe built in the 60ies it might have never been renovated. Very old. Rooms are clean but really old (including the carpets). The hotel does not even try to hide the age with some new paintings. The staff is ok and friendly. Breakfast is ok too.

The hotel is located in the city centre, walking distance from most of the attraction. Service in the reception is great and profecional. Breakfast time was incredible. There work Mr. Miguel (not sure about the spelling - i apollogize) and he is the best. His service is excellent and he is very nice man in the same time. He is also a good team with another man (whose name i don't know). My room was very comfortable and cosy. Highly recommend to stay there.

Central hotel with lovely staff and very clean. Points lost as room was missing plug for bath and hairdryer not working also bar was closed. Breakfast was really good in lovely cool room. Check in and out is very efficient. Also staff very responsive.

The hotel itself is quite old, but everything in it is working perfectly fine. The bed was very comfortable, the breakfast was amazing, wifi was good, we had hot water to shower in, and the location was perfect! It's so close to everything that you would want to do for a tourist day out!

Very easy to reach by tram from the gare centrale. Reception staff professional and extremely helpful. On arrival, we were given an upgrade from standard to executive room. real luxury with plenty of space and a view over the old city and the Adolphus Bridge. An incredibly pleasant city with all parts easily walkable. The bar was a welcome stop and the breakfast was nicely set out and good. Highly recommended.

We had a very restful two-night stay in May 2022. We were at the beginning of a two-week trip in Europe, and recovering a bit from jet lag. We wanted a relaxing, low-key visit, and hotel provided this wonderfully. We booked a room overlooking the small park at the front of the hotel (Place de la Constitution). Our king-sized bed was comfy, and the room was pretty large by European standards. The extra space was welcome when we felt like relaxing in the room. Overall decor is a bit dated, but we were happy to accept that as the charm of the place. The property is well-maintained. We found very few specific flaws – but somehow it felt a bit tired. Front desk staff was very helpful about recommending restaurants, including on a Sunday when much of the city is closed down. Location is excellent. It's a very short walk to the city center, and also to the "Grund District." We very much wanted to visit the underground tunnels of the Bock Casements – and these are also quite close to the hotel – but these were closed for virus restrictions. Included breakfast was excellent.

We really enjoyed our two night stay which coincided with Luxembourg's National Day and celebrations. The team behind reception couldn't have been more helpful and welcoming, the barman was a true alchemist, the breakfast team were great and the hotel itself was old school glamour. We had a wonderful room on the 4th Floor, it was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. The turndowns were a lovely touch. Breakfast was ok, coffee was great! This hotel is in the ideal spot to explore the city and we would 100% stay again if we get to visit Luxembourg again. Thank you to you all.

Overall, I liked the hotel. The absence of air conditioning was communicated to me in advance, but luxembourg not being a tropical country, it wasn't needed during my stay. Staff was very nice and professional, good breakfast and perfect location. The only thing I would mention for improvement is noise from the corridor. In fact, when someone opens a door, it feels like they open it in your room. Anyway, I would come back if need to go to Luxembourg again.

The Cravat is perfectly located, immaculately clean, incorporates many old world conveniences, has a super professional staff and serves a good breakfast. Given that there is no air-conditioning, windows need to be open and with that comes lots of street noise. My bed was super soft and offered no back support. The bathroom appeared brand new, but with the shower head on the long wall and the curtain running down the middle of the tub, taking a shower required contortions. The hotel's decor appears to have been preserved from its opening in 1953. Others have referred to it as old-fashioned. I call it ready for retirement. Net Net: with some capital investment and the services of a designer, the Cravat could be 5 bubbles superb.

The hotel is really nice! Old but clean and organized. And the location is perfect, though a little bit noise, because it is close to the Main Street. We waited for a while when we arrived, the room is not ready. But we do have a really nice stay!

Cravat combines a lot of features from traditional hotels with modern service. This is not one of the international chains or brands with identical look and layout. Simply excellent. We will come again.

The Hotel is a jump in the past. Beatiful rooms, the receptionist are very professional. The breakfast is good and the stay is good. Is located in centre and it's easy to reach tha restaurants and the down town.

Luxembourg was simply stunning. The Grand Hotel Cravat was the perfect location for our sightseeing short stay. All the staff made me and my family (11 month baby) extremely welcome. If I was to be picky, it was a shame we were in a room where two single beds were pushed together and the pillows lacked any structure.

We had a great stay here while visiting Luxembourg for 3 days. The staff are very friendly and hotel very clean. The breakfast had a great variety and cocktails in the bar were very nice. Only minor issue was our loud neighbour but that's not the hotel's fault. This is a lovely old-style hotel in an ideal location for exploring.

An old hotel that looks like something out of the 60's. Think Wes Anderson more than The Shining. We were here for two nights- the first night we had a few teething issues… largely down to confusion with a room service order and a nocturnal American tourist in the adjoining room who smoked and played House music until 6am. When we raised this with the concierge, Bettim, he acted immediately and moved us to another room and was very attentive and kind. Bettim the Dream as we'll forever remember him, was the making of a comfortable, happy time in Luxembourg and the reason we will happily return to the Grand Hotel Cravat again. Our only quibble in the end was that we couldn't spend another night in this dreamlike kooky paradise.

Such a beautiful old hotel in a great spot in Luxembourg. My room was beautiful and relaxing with all amenities necessary...and the bathroom was wonderful! I was visiting my son in the city and had all of my questions answered by the very helpful staff. Breakfast at the hotel is a lovely treat as well, delicious!!

We had a very very nice stay in this wonderfull hotel! Staff was so very friendly! It is so nostalgic with a lot of style and a very nice bar! Location is perfect: near to the city center, shops, historic buildings and the Christmas markets! Covid safe!!! Rooms were wonderfull with a magnificient view! I would recommand it to all people who want to visit this wonderfull city! Breakfast was delicious!

This hotel is old fashioned in the Grand Hotel way, and it does it exceedingly well. The look is nostalgic and welcoming, the rooms have character, and the staff are great. An immense breakfast was included in our rate and was delivered to our room by a be-suited porter on a wheeled table. The location is excellent and the view from our south-facing room was fantastic. Only annoyance was parking…you're on your own. Absolutely recommend this hotel. What a vibe!

I stayed there for 4 days. It's in a central location, close to everything. Hotel was very nice, staff very accommodating. Taxi stand right across the road. The bar was very nice. I will stay again next time I visit.

We wanted a hotel in the city centre and got it. The very friendly hotel staff helped us unloading the bagage and finding a parking place for our car. A 200 meter walk brought us to the central square with the restautants. The recommended restaurant was indeed very good. We got a larger room then reserved and breakfast in the room. No aircontidioning, therefore we had to open the window and allow noise from the aquare before the hotel. Very good place for a stopover during our journey from France to Holland.

Though Luxembourg wakes up a bit earlier than I would prefer, Cravat's team made my stay extremely pleasant, so many thanks to them. Marius at the bar was great both with cocktails and chat. I wish the staff all the best and will definitely stop by next time.

Is's always pleasure to return to our favorite hotel in Luxembourg. Cozy room, highquolity service is best way to get into pure mood of "Luxembourg feeling". Unfortunately there will be a day to leave Luxembourg but we always have in mind the next vacation to return in near future.

Very good location close to the centre with view on the Adolfsbridge. We got a very nice breakfast with room service and a big list of choices for the breakfast. Due to corona we ordered food from a nearby restaurant to eat in our room which was no problem, we even got cutlery.

When you watch hollywood films of going back in time 1930s, you cannot help that that is exactly how it's like. It is located in the most ideal place, and you are literally in the city centre with the most spectacular views of the valley. The Art decor cannot be missed - from the key, to the lift to the room itself. Even the bathroom makes you wonder - what have they left out. Just like a scene from a black and white set, you sense history, pride and also a slight glimpse of how life in Luxembourg may have been. A crown jewel one can describe, away from the mainstream hotels, this is a beautifully designed, and graceful experience. Breakfast is served, continental style, with beautifully placed silver. You cannot miss the history that is placed from the furniture to the lights to the cutlery. I really enjoyed my short stay and highly recommend it.

There's really nothing ”grand” about the Grand Hotel Cravat, but it's nevertheless a decent option in the heart of Luxembourg city. It's one of those ubiquitous European city hotels that sits firmly in the past, with heavy brass keyrings and the hotel name printed on everything from shampoo bottles to bottle openers to alarm clocks. They have awarded themselves four stars, which might have been true 50 years ago, but by today's standards that's about half a star too many. The hotel sits firmly in the 1960s, and while the rooms are clean and tidy, they are also far from modern. My room was of average size, with two chairs, a smallish desk and two small closets that would close with a quaint small key. The safety deposit box did not work. The bed itself was comfortable, but the pillows must have been ancient – they were extremely thin, up to the point of being useless. The balcony was a nice surprise. Wifi was free and fast. Charging your devices required finding a socket by the floor and keeping your mobile and laptop on the floor during charging… The bathroom came with a bathtub that, instead of being changed for a new one, had been painted, with the paint now peeling. Not very inviting. Water pressure was fine, though, and there was a handheld shower. There was very little room for any toiletries in the bathroom. Bathrobes and slippers were provided, as well as basic amenities including body lotion. The multilingual receptionists were friendly, and the room was cleaned daily. Due to covid, all restaurants in the country were forced to close at the time of my visit, including hotel restaurants. Smartly, a microwave had been placed in the lobby to reheat take away food (to be consumed in the room only). The best asset of this hotel is its location right in the heart of the city, next to Notre Dame Cathedral, a few steps from the two main squares and only 4 min on foot from the airport bus stop. I paid 68 EUR a night, which, considering the price levels in the city during normal times, was an excellent deal. Come with the right expectations and a desire for nostalgia and you will be sure to enjoy your stay.

I loved it. I think the pics don't make justice. Yes, it is old but in great shape. Felt transported to another times. Everybody there super gentle. Although the cleaning stuff is great, I'd say they should leave more towels, or basic things in the room, I needed to ask for that. It is like there were under a strict economy. But that is just a detail. I will stay there next time.

Stayed at this hotel during a weekend, situated perfectly in the city of Luxembourg, walking distance to all of the must see attractions, parking available in the city garages close by, bus and train in walking distance as well, the ambiance and grandeur of this property is breathtaking, the staff are all professional and friendly well informed and happy to explain in detail all there is to see in Luxembourg, the view from the room of the Petrusse Valley and the Golden Lady Monument is unforgettable, rooms impeccably clean and the bathroom spacious and warm, beds are comfortable and large, great care is taken concerning all the Covid sanitation regulations and more, the breakfast was served professionally and the dining room is beautifully appointed. I am looking forward to my next stay their.
