"Its old property, rooms and doors doesnt open lock doest work.very noisy place guest make noise all day all night"

2
User 24/12/2022

Its outdated doors locks bathrooms, very noisy ,its not good to stay for the price its very expensive, if you good rest or peace go somewhere else, it right on the highway alot of traffic noisy they may have to do something to make this place sound proof!

"Very good"

Elad T, Warsaw, Poland 15/11/2022

If you're looking for a warm shower and comfortable bed, this is an excellent choice. large and comfortable room, basic but good. there is some white noise from the highway outside so ask for a room in the higher numbers (X06 and above). Breakfast was nice. nothing fancy - egg, bacon, toast and coffee. it worked great for us.

"Close to JFK for those early morning flights."

4
Jakerson, Campbell, CA 30/10/2022

Not fancy but clean and functional. The staff was professional and efficient. The best feature of the hotel is that it's a 5 minute bus ride from the Jamaica AirTrain station to JFK. So if you have a really early morning flight out of JFK as I did, it's a perfect place to stay the night before to avoid a long very early commute from downtown. About a 5-10 minute walk to the nearest subway station.

"Pleasant stay"

5
User 22/10/2022

Room was comfortable and clean! Nice shower and shampoo. Breakfast was solid with hearty options. Free parking. We were satisfied. It had everything we needed for our one night stay. About 5 miles to JFK airport. We would stay here again if we needed a hotel in Queens.

"Comfortable and Clean in Queens "

5
Mario J, Tampa, Florida 16/10/2022

This place is centrally located the room was very clean and breakfast was hot and fresh. I've read some of the other reviews on here and some are pretty ridiculous. Yes the first night there was a lot of light emanating from under the door. A towel under the door tool care of that. The breakfast room is located in the basement but its New York if they can't build up they go down. Big deal it was accessible by elevator and it was clean . No it's not a 5 star hotel but definitely lives up to best Western standards as far as being comfortable and very clean. The shampoo and body wash dispensers in the shower were very convenient and the fragrance of them were very nice. There was a refrigerator with litte freezer and microwave in room which helped when working late. Would definitely recommend.

"Great stay"

5
User 02/09/2022

I enjoyed my stay. It was clean and the service was great. The only thing is that the refrigerator was too loud. Other than that it was great. The sheet were clean, the best was comfortable, the closet space was good and with hangers. The bathroom was clean and I liked the products!

"Good place, great price"

4
mommys70bronco, Knoxville, Tennessee 29/08/2022

We stayed here while dropping our kid off at college. We had no problems at all during our stay. The location was super convenient to everything. It's an old hotel so it shows lots of wear and tear but it's clean and quiet. Bedroom was updated and nice. Bathroom was very small and needs updated but it was clean. Breakfast has a nice variety of food but it's in a small room in the basement. If you're looking for a “nice” place to stay, this probably isn't it but we will be back because of the location and the price. Everything else in the area is really expensive.

"Tricked into the hotel by the group"

1
User 21/06/2022

I was tricked to stay at this hotel because it is BW. The room rate is very high compared to the quality of the room. From now on BW will not mean quality and comfort to me. I would be careful before staying at BW hotel

BEST WESTERN Jamaica Inn, General Manager at Best Western Jamaica Inn, responded to this review
We do apologize if you think the rates is too high. We are always comparing the rates in Jamaica area.

Subway two blocks away. Subway ride to Long Island RR. Manhattan accessible via subway. Restaurants and market within walking distance. Accessible to airport. Breakfast was good. Room was spacious. Hallways need an upgrade.

"Previous guest items left in room"

2
User 30/10/2021

Arrived to the hotel and payed $250 for one night (even after arriving after midnight) just for the room to have opened soap and juice left from previous guest. Very nasty, especially during these coronavirus times. Will not be back.

BEST WESTERN Jamaica Inn, General Manager at Best Western Jamaica Inn, responded to this review
I'm very sorry you had an unpleasant experience with us. Thank you for your feedback. This is isn't the kind of experience we want our guests to have. I will make sure that I will look into this matter.

"Hotel Stay"

4
troselli2021, Topsfield, Massachusetts 04/10/2021

The hotel stay was overall very good, however the lower floor is difficult to sleep due to the traffic noise directly above you and folks honking at 6AM - very loud - especially if you went to bed late . If I were to stay here again I would request a a higher level floor.

"Stay could be better."

3
User 03/10/2021

We went to NY for the wedding and booked 1 night here. I would be fully satisfied, but elevator didn't work so we needed to carry our luggage to 3rd floor. The noise outside was high so we couldn't get to sleep. AC unit worked great and was quite. The main concern was a cockroach I saw. Fortunately I was able to kill it and hopefully didn't bring any other back with us home.

"DO NOT STAY HERE!!!"

1
103neveragain, Shamokin, Pennsylvania 24/09/2021

Place is an outdated dump. Thought being a chain that it would be ok for a 1 night stay, if I had my family with me i would have left but was solo on this trip so stuck it out. Smelled like skunk weed, dirty, room was below ground, light coming in through the door around the frame, people yelling all night and banging doors, guy at counter could care less what was going on, elevator was broke, water pressure was terrible, all around bad experience. Wouldnt be surprised if they had hourly rate/guests at this place. STAY AWAY!!! I stay at hotels all the time for business and dont expect 4 star place from a best western but this place was a disaster for a chain hotel, seems like time has forgot about this place.

"Basic room,"

3
njmmmom, Morris Plains, NJ 09/09/2021

Room was on small size. Little space to move around. Bathroom wasn't cleaned well and shower dispensers not functional - one missing , one empty . Location is not easiest to get to if not familiar with the area. Overall not worth the high price. Did not meet expectation from Best Western property

"Meh"

3
Jordontnyc2, New York City, New York 22/08/2021

Room was adequate, front of door to room was beaten up. I was on the first floor and could hear everything through my door, that door and the sound it allows in must be looked into. I asked about the $20. At checkout as advertised, I was told it will be given online, I have yet to receive this. It is now 10 days later.

The hallway needs a makeover, and it has a faint cigarette odor. The parking lot is too small. Breakfast should consist of more fruit and a juice should be included, eg., orange juice. Also a comforter should be on the bed.

"Parking is $27 a day."

1
Terri R, Longmont, Colorado 29/05/2020

Called to find out about parking. Was told it is $27.00 a day. Just so you know going into a reservation with Jamaica Inn, it can add $$$ to your stay! This should be CLEAR on the website and it is NOT.

Good afternoon Terri, We have a big parking in the hotel and it's FREE. We never charge for the parking.

"Solid 4-star convenient to JFK Airport"

4
User 13/02/2020

I used this hotel to get my daughter to an early morning flight at JFK. It was easy to get to off the Van Wyck Xway (lots of traffic noise, bring earplugs), About 15 minutes to terminal on an early Sunday morning. Breakfast a bit late at 7AM. Would prefer 6AM for early flyers. Uma the breakfast lady was very pleasant. Hotel was very clean. Free parking was adequate. Security glass at checkin makes it difficult to ask questions. Lots of fast food and local restaurants within easy walking distance. Refrigerators were removed for some sort of upgrade. Used emailed early checkin option and they honored all my room requests. I'M A Best Western member and made slightly more expensive ressies thru the BW system in hopes of getting better room choice and was pleased with my third floor room a little back from the busy street. Be sure to use Google maps or your GPS to get off and on the Van Wyck. We were satisfied with our stay and experienced no surprises . .

"Good room, excellent service"

4
Robert D, Northampton, Massachusetts 16/01/2020

The room was clean though a bit worn in places, certainly not luxurious. But what stood out for us was the gracious attentiveness of all the employees we met. Everyone was cheerful and helpful and I would certainly return when we visit our daughter in Flushing. I also want to single out Uma, the breakfast hostess, who kept the room spotlessly clean and restocked. She was pleasant and friendly and remembered my wife on our second morning. My wife would give it a 10 but I have to be fair that it is an older building, though maybe for the price in New York, it deserves the higher rating.

"Good rooms and great hospitality"

5
User 12/01/2020

The one night stay at the best western Jamaica inn, NY was a good experience with no shortcomings as such. We were treated with great hospitality by Miss Uma in the breakfast room with pancakes and more help with our food. Would recommend to family and friends.

"Great Hospitality and Good Rooms"

5
User 12/01/2020

We stayed here for just one night but, must say that the rooms are great. Also, Ms. Uma's handmade Pancakes were a treat to us during the breakfast as we were tired after a 17 hour plane journey from India. Had a homely feeling after meeting her as we were from the same country. Would definitely recommend this hotel to friends and family.... Its value for money and a great bargain.

"Loud and Cramped"

2
GregW2751, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 03/01/2020

I chose this hotel for a recent visit to Queens because it is one of the few hotels in the area offering both a free breakfast and free parking. But if I had to do it over again, I'd shell out for a nicer hotel. We had a double/double room for 4 - 2 adults and 2 kids. It was really undersized for 4 people. There was barely enough space to open a suitcase when we were all in the room. The hotel's public spaces were similarly cramped. The breakfast was better than we expected, but there was so little space in the breakfast room it was like a death match to find a place to sit. The other problem was the noise. It's along a highway, so we were prepared for some road noise, but the hotel's mechanicals kept us up at night. And something about the acoustics made everyone's conversations in the hall echo through our room.

"Bedbugs on second floor and first floor in room 216 and 110. Disgusting Service!!!"

1
User 30/12/2019

The worst Inn we have ever experienced. On Dec 25, 2019, we checked into room 210. It was so noisy and we asked to change the room (they moved us to room 216) on Dec 26. We spent the night in room 216, then our nightmare started. In the morning on Dec 27, I got few red rashes on my left arm. At the beginning, I thought it might be the allergy or something and not a big deal. I have not ever experienced bedbug so I had no clue. Then the next day Dec 28 in the evening, we got back to room 216, suddenly I felt the itchiness on my left arm and I began to look around in bed to see what's going on. Then I found a BEDBUG!!! I killed one immediately then looked into mattress, and there were more!!!! My husband rushed to downstairs and reported to the service person there and talked to the manager Rey Torres on the phone since he was not there at the time. He said he would refund us one night hotel fee. My husband told him it is very serious and scary situation. The manager Rey said the bugs cannot be controlled. Also he said that's all he can do, just simply change a room and if I complaint then go ahead. THAT WAS OUR CONVERSATION. NO APOLOGIES. SO IRRESPONSIBLE AND RUDE!!. We changed room to 110 on Dec 28. Then again, in the morning on Dec 29 before we checked out, we saw the bedbug again!!!!! WHAT A HORRIFIC EXPERIENCE. I have contacted the customer service and they said they will follow whatever the manager said. Basically Best Western Jamaica Inn does not have any customer service and management when actually something happened. Will never ever come back again, and would love to spread the word everywhere we can to let other people avoid the situation.

"Uma"

5
User 28/12/2019

This hotel has been amazing. The woman in the breakfast room, Uma, was an employee I will never forget. I have never seen anyone ever interact and socialize as kindly and as patiently as Uma has with us. She not only made sure we all had eaten, she greeted us, kept us entertained, and made sure to get us anything we asked for. I came here under horrible circumstances- my house burned down- but everyday I left for school with a smile on my face thanks to the hospitality of the staff, and the aesthetic of the hotel.

"Not bad for Queens"

4
vintonw, Cambridge, United States 01/12/2019

Very quiet hotel. The lobby was recently renovated and they removed a great photo of NYC. I was surprised that they replaced the carpeting in the guest room with faux hardwood. Otherwise the place was fine. The staff is courteous.

"Great value for week's stay"

User 08/11/2019

This hotel has friendly staff, clean rooms and within a short walk of F train subway. Lima the breakfast attendant was sweet and very helpful. Front desk was friendly and helpful. We have stayed there 4 or 5 times on our trips to New York. It is out from the city, but it saved us money to spend elsewhere. Subway takes you into the city in 20 30 minutes.

"Clean and basic"

3
Scarlo7, London 06/11/2019

Rooms - It is basic. This is no luxury suite. The LCD TV was a good size but you only get US cable channels. The workmanship of the bathroom is average and needs updating. I prefer either a shower or a bath not both. At times when the cleaners did make over our room we found a sort of smell in the room like they used dirty water to mop the floors. The towels and face cloths were hit and miss, some times we had to ask for face cloths. The quality of the material is poor. You are getting what is like recycled materials re washed over and over. You really are getting budget facilities for budget price. Breakfast - was so poor that we only did ate there once. Its located in the basement floor. One small room, very cold because they have the air con on high which I think is stupid first thing in the morning to greet your guest so i would advise to dress warm if you eat at the hotel. Food choices are limited. The coffee machine broke down, there is cold milk for limited choice of cereals, limited choice of hot food and the cooked food does not appear to be made on the premises, just pre made and heated up and served by one person. The hotel is located just of the van dyke highway and its a decent location. Very near to Briarwood metro which is 5 minutes away. There are restaurants and small shops nearby. KFC, Mcdonald's and Dunkin donuts are walking distance and the high street is also nearby with loads of amenities. There is a petrol station right next to the hotel.

KENNETH K, Apex, North Carolina 03/11/2019

I stayed here for four nights. Checked out early in the morning on November 2nd. I found the staff to be very nice and the room was clean and comfortable. It also is a short walk to the E train in one direction and the F in the other direction. I am very big on cleanliness and I would rate the condition of my room as A+. This will be my place to stay every time I visit New York.

"Overall Great Stay!"

5
User 22/10/2019

This hotel was the least expensive in the area, and while typically not our first pick for hotels, it served our purpose and was an overall enjoyable stay. Limited, but FREE parking, with extra space underneath the hotel. Clean facility and clean rooms (which is a BIG Plus for us). The beds were comfortable, staff was friendly and professional, complimentary breakfast was served and it was conveniently located to everything, with easy access to the expressways.

"Convenient to City at out-of-city prices"

4
Merrily H, Tualatin, United States 02/08/2019

The Best Western Jamaica is just a 10-15 minute walk to two different subway stations (E and F lines). This gives you easy access to the City while staying outside at lower than City prices. Buy the weekly Metro Card if you are staying more than 2 days for the best value on sight-seeing trips. They also have free parking and breakfast. Parking was very helpful since we had a rental car. This is also just 15 minutes form JFK so helpful for an early morning flight. Rooms are NYC small but everything needed was there and worked.

Absolutely no WiFI. Business Center only option, and not a very practical one at that. Be ready to make friends with your local Starbucks barista and use their WiFi. Rooms were kept clean, although facial soap instead of hand soap? Really? Location is not bad at all. Staff was helpful but can only work with what they have.

"4th stay at BW Jamaica"

Ken F, Avon, IN 30/06/2019

Every year we bring a large group to NYC and this is our 4th year to stay at this hotel. There have been some upgrades and things are nice. It is an older hotel and the rooms are smaller, but the upgrades are good and everything is kept clean. The staff is kind and accommodating. Uma, the breakfast lady goes above and beyond her duty to make sure everything is stocked well and nicely prepared and organized. Even for our large group, we never ran out of anything. She greets everyone and is very kind to us. We will stay here again next year.

"Great stay for the price"

3
Nikole L, Fort Lauderdale, Florida 27/06/2019

Great stay for the price. Building is a bit older and appears they have had some leaks. This is possibly the cause of the strong odor in the Fitness room. Room very clean, and the new argan oil line of soaps are great! Breakfast was OK, although the staff there was a bit pushy when trying to use the waffle maker.

We stayed here for three days to attend event at St Johns University Campus and bottom line is that this is a very good choice if you need stay in Queens: -Well priced -Breakfast included, which is great. Hostess Uma keeps it clean, filled, and makes it a joy. - Hotel has complimentary parking. - Rooms are nice and clean - not large, but definitely cramped / tiny. - Comfortable beds -Fridge and microwave - Stores and simple eating places close by (Hi-Mango is a small grocery store with great sandwiches, Pizza place, wine and liquor store etc.) - Briarwood metro station 5-7 minutes walk that takes you to Central Park and downtown, and connections at Lexington) Downsides? -Doors are on the thin side and don't close automatically, but it's not a noisy place. - No safe -Yes agree the bullet proof glass in front of front desk is very uncharming and makes a bad first impression - “what kind of place and in what neighborhood did I reserve a room? - Only one elevator, but it's not a real issue, unlike in other places, and it's kept clean and nice. From our experience, all said and done you have to pay much more for a hotel that would be a significant upgrade, and this a very good option.

Hello, Thank you for your wonderful review. We are truly happy that you enjoyed your stay with us. We will surely inform Uma of your commendation. Thank you for your feedbacks regarding the door. Regarding the bulletproof glass, it was the decision of the owner despite the area being safe. :) Thank you for choosing Best Western Jamaica Inn. Sincerely, Alfie

A very accessible and reasonably priced place to stay in Queens, NY. There was parking at the hotel and lots of places in walking distance. I enjoyed the familiarity as I missed NYC my previous home. The only disappointing thing I viewed was the bulletproof glass in the lobby separating you from the desk attendant, it was an uncomfortable sight. I guess things have changed since I left, Are Robberies up in Queens? However, my stay was comfortable and the BW was an ideal location to the event.

We stayed at the Best Western Jamaica Inn on Van Wyck Expressway, the room was a little tight with a king size bed and all the other amenities in the room, like the fridge, tv/dresser; standing closet etc... Service was excellent, clean and very friendly service, location was excellent.

The room was clean and well appointed but when you first enter, someone stands behind plexiglass and checks you in. You may wonder “Am I safe here?” While there were a number of breakfast items it is served in the sub-basement. Why not serve it in your meeting room when it is not in use? A bit of a better environment.

Great stay! Location is relatively close to JFK International (which is why we stayed there; early morning flight). Check-in was efficient and clerk (Carl) was courteous and professional and even called us to make sure we would be arriving (as we were getting there late). Room was exceptionally clean! Mattress was great; great night's sleep. Shower was great! (Invigorating) Parking was easy and on premises. I highly recommend.

Picked it from previous reviews and was happy with the choice. It is close to JFK and therefore the Expressway so traffic noise was an issue but not a deal breaker. It was a large & comfy room and it came with a VVG Breakfast. Not much choice locally for food but found a pizza place nearby to fill the spot and a supermarket for incidentals. Can do a lot worse and maybe the reception was a bit stand offish but you can't all be happy & friendly all the time, right? I had just flown 30 hours and wanted a bed, period!

The hotel was only 15 minutes from JFK by car. Walking distance to two Metro stations, so it is very easy to take the train into Manhattan. A big plus was the large parking lot and the breakfast that is included.

Reading some of the reviews I wonder how people have such low standards. Do they never stay in hotels? We had the yellow cab from hell, driver stank and the seats had collapsed, missed the hotel and had to turn around a mile further up the freeway. The monosyllabic greeting at the reception desk came from behind a bandit glass - with their attitude I can see why! We were put on an overnight stop over for a midday flight in one of those basement rooms mentioned back in August 2018. The noisy air con and dirty carpet have either not been changed or they've worn out again. On the upside I didn't get any bites and we put our overnight bags on the floor. The rooms are worn, I mean I've previously mentioned tired bedoorms in UK hotels but this one is exhausted. However, breakfast was out of this world! Almost made up for the room and night reception, naa. It was much as you want. Although the only normal bits appeared to be scrambled egg of some sort, square pork sausage and toast. Is it normal in NY to stock up on E numbers to see you through the day? I was hyper for 12 hours, sadly 4 of those were on a flight. Anyway, See the food photos. I was glad to get a smart Uber Nissan X trail ($19) and back to JFK!

My son and I needed a safe, reasonably priced hotel with access to the City. This hotel was perfect. Clean, close to subway, easy from JFK by Uber ($20). This was the only hotel in the nyc area that would take reward points so close to the holiday. For a quick stay on a budget I totally recommend. "My mistake"

1
nuwildcat65, Portland, Oregon 26/10/2018

We had stayed before at a Best Western near the airport. This wasn't the same hotel. For $178 we stayed in a basement room with wall to wall furniture and no place to put our luggage. The bed was comfortable. Noisy A/C unit. The breakfast was not served until 7 am, after our need to leave for the airport. The morning manager did give us a bottle of water, an apple and a Beta Vita. The manager did arrange a car for us to the airport. When we got in the elevator there was a man who looked as though he had just taken a shower. As we reached the lobby floor he darted from the elevator to the outside. It seemed as though he was probably not a hotel guest. I was surprised this hotel warranted the Best Western brand.

We checked in around 5 pm today, the person at the desk was great! We were happy, everything was perfect! Until at around 9 pm my husband turns around in bed and shows me a HUGE bite on his shoulder! We first thought it was a mosquito bite, but no! He gets out of bed and there it was a FREAKIN' BED BUG!My husband is extremely sensitive to bed bugs and that is how him and I judge a hotel! I am sorry, but for a place that charges $150 per night that is UNACCEPTABLE!!!! Or for any hotel ever! We were offered to consider staying the night until the manager got there in the morning?!?! Seriously? In your bug infested sheets? Just terrible!

"Good transit hotel"

4
memee08, Perth, Australia 12/10/2018

This is a good transit hotel if you are arriving or leaving from JFK airport. Room was small for 4 people, but adequate for one night. Comfy beds, parking available, good air conditioning, good hairdryer, hot shower/bath, microwave and fridge within the room, good continental breakfast (waffles, toast, muffins, doughnuts, cereals, juices, yoghurt, plus some hot food options),10 min walk to closest subway ($2.75 per ride to Manhattan), 20 min walk to air train ($5 per ride to airport), lots of fast food areas nearby. Hit and miss wifi, tv channels a bit dull, commercial area with lots of car showrooms, quite expensive for where it is, buy hey New York is very expensive!!!

"Clean bathroom and bed, but......"

2
DebSD, Saskatchewan 19/08/2018

We made a last minute reservation in the wee hours of the morning after a cancelled flight. Our room was essentially in the basement of the hotel - it was small and the carpet was VERY dirt - it needs to be removed. The bathroom was very clean, as was the bed - and it was comfortable. The wall air conditioning unit was off when we arrived - the room was HOT and sticky, but it did cool off quickly. The air conditioning unit was filthy. There was a "motion sensor" halfway up the wall - unusual for a hotel room - not sure what that was for? I didn't ask. The breakfast room was clean and well cared for by the attendant - the choices were average for hotel fare. Area is perfectly fine - we were concerned when we checked in, but in the daylight it was fine. Wouldn't stay by choice - but okay when we were stuck. When I read other reviews - maybe the issue was that we were in the basement?

We stayed at this hotel from Aug 6-11. Three of us in a room with 2 double beds. The room was small but quaint. The room was kept clean and the front desk staff were very accommodating (allowing us to keep are bags at the front desk after check out, as we had a late flight). The breakfast was very good. In the mornings Uma was very friendly in the mornings and provided great service. The hotel is older but well kept. It is not too far from Jamaica Avenue (which has shopping) and the subway/transit is very close by. There is some noise from the highway (Van Wyck Expwy); However, we didn't spend much time in the room so it didn't bother us too much. Overall it was a very good stay and I would recommend this property to others staying in Queens.

I can't begin to say enough about this Best Western. We bring a mission team each year and had 12 rooms. Very affordable, in a good location and walking distance of great restaurants and clean. Rey Torres was so professional and proficient. Albie who works the front desk was always very personal. And Uma, the breakfast room hostess ran the best breakfast hospitality room around.

"Loud and Old"

2
User 24/07/2018

We got stuck in NYC due to a canceled flight out of JFK. The hotels near the airport booked up quickly and we ended up here. The hotel was overpriced--probably due to location and a last minute booking? The only good thing about the hotel was that it was about a 15 minute drive from JFK. The room was kind of dingy and the bathroom seemed old fashioned and not well kept up. The bed was not very comfortable and the room was loud with noise from traffic from the nearby highway. Service was okay. The breakfast doesn't open until 7 which is not convienent for people with early flights. It was awkward to ask if we could just grab a quick coffee. Would not stay here again except if no other hotels near the airport have availability.

"Needs work - noisy and cramped"

2
Helen W, New York City, New York 15/07/2018

Stay away! Lots better places in Queens to stay. Desk person sits behind a large window, so immediately you feel this is an unsafe place. Not very hospitable staff - I had to yell for the desk clerk when I came back down to ask a question and waited about 5 minutes. I am a Best Western rewards member and nothing was done for me - no special check-in time, no bottle of water.... When I mentioned this to the clerk, he acted like he had no idea what I was referring to. This hotel sits on the Van Wyck Expressway - no soundproofing, so you hear all the highway noise all night long (it's NYC - so there's traffic all night). I had a king size bed in a very small room. Bathroom was so small the door wouldn't open all the way - they had to mount the towel rack in such a way that the door hits it. Not very clean. A lot of painting touch-up work needed on walls. Dropped ceiling in bathroom was disgusting. Breakfast in a basement room with no windows - very dank. Good things: bed was comfortable, there's free (but limited) parking in their lot, and it is close to the subway.

BW_33141, Front Office Manager at Best Western Jamaica Inn, responded to this review
Hello, Thank you for your review. Our apologies for not exceeding your expectations. Best Western reward members should always be acknowledged. Good location to JFK however a shuttle service would be a great amenity to include for guests. Breakfast area and the variety and quality of food provided was good. Room was changed after we complained of smoke filled scent and was a reasonable size and good amenities for NYC. Business center seems very old and a bit neglected very dusty. Front desk clerk was very unattentive - never mentioned our room number or internet connection instructions, did not provide directions to room or even indicate where the elevator is located.

KarennAnnn, Binghamton, New York 10/07/2018

Booked 1 night as my flight was arriving late and I didn't want to commute home. It was a major disappointment. Basement room was a decent size however the rug was tattered and filthy, the A/C was broken and stunk, the bathroom tub soap dispenser was a mess, burn holes and scrapes on the furniture. The front desk staff were sympathetic but the hotel was fully booked so I couldn't be moved. They gave me the email address of the manager (R. Torres) who I emailed with photos of the condition of the room- the emails were delivered but not responded to. I didn't expect it to be nice but I was hoping it was clean... and it wasn't. Staff was polite and efficient despite being unable to solve the issues.

"Good enough as a base"

3
Bekah B, Dudley, United Kingdom 05/07/2018

We booked a night here after a problem with our flight back to the UK, as we arrived the taxi driver told us it wasn't a very safe area and not to be around the streets at night if possible, which had us quite concerned but in all honesty we had no issue. The room was good enough for a night or two, there was a coffee machine, microwave and fridge. As we had booked last minute we had a basement room but it had a huge hot tub! It's a shame it didn't look a bit cleaner but I gave it a clean before using it. The main bathroom was clean, the bedding and bed were fine except for the pillows which could do with replacing now as they're just a big lump of small lumps. There was a huge gap under our room door which made the room very noisy to be in as every sound just comes right in to the room. The breakfast was really nice, there's a waffle maker which makes perfect waffles, plus other bits of hot food, cereals and fruit. There was plenty of seating so it wasn't cramped at all. If it wasn't for the couple of negative points I would've rated it higher, the whole place just needs a bit of TLC as it looks like it's not been touched since the 80's.

We stayed for a night with kids to catch up the plane from JFK. The location is excellent for JFK and employees are trying very hard to be nice. Everything else is literally horrible. Room looked like dump, it was not clean and smelled like rotten carpet. I told front desk about and they told me to turn on AC to remove the smell. I turned on AC and it was so noisy that we had hard time to go to sleep. I usually dont put any reviews (negative even more) but next day when I was driving for 4 hours was sleepy, that pissed me off. If you have to stay in this hotel, check the room a head of time. gil123, Philadelphia 02/04/2018

Chose this place for a short, late night parkling and rest stop on the way to JFK for early morning flight. As far as the straegic location to JFK and free parking go, it did the job. Rooms were realtively clean (aside from thick layer of dust on the heavy, old curtains), but tiny, dated and unpleasant furnishsings and bathroom. But since I chose this for a stopover not a leisure stay would still would have rated it four stars-- if it weren't for the ridiculously loud, clanking old HVAC unit that sounded like a jackhammer and made it very hard to sleep. Finally gave up and turned it off for some silence (well aside from the constant highway noise). Overall not a great option even for an overnight. Cheap but that's about it.

Booked hotel very last minute as a overnight airport stay. Very small basic reception and out room was a few doors away on the ground floor. Pleasantly surprised with are room which was a decent size. A little dated but very clean and very comfy beds. Nice size bathroom with complementary toiletries and plenty of towels for the four of us. Price included breakfast which is always a bonus. Breakfast room was small but clean. Lady was constantly topping up the food which consisted of fruit, yoghurts, bread, pastries, eggs, sausage & fresh make your own waffles. Reception were lovely and friendly. All in all a pleasant stay. Taxi from JFK to hotel was $20and from hotel to Times Square was $65.

"Clean, comfortable and great location"

NHPenny, NH 11/03/2018

We stayed one night. Free parking is available and we used Ubers to get to our family's home from there. The front desk staff was very pleasant, hotel hallways clean, rooms were very clean, beds very comfortable, bedding and towels very nice, nice shower with plenty of hot water and breakfast was delicious and provided many choices. Its right off Queens Blvd and 678 so easy to get almost anywhere in the area. The only thing that kept me from giving this a 5 was the noise level at night. We heard tvs and conversations and, since we wanted to get to bed early for an early morning start, it was annoying. But, if you bring some ear plugs, that should help.

I decided to stay here the night before i left NY as i had a early plan. It was great - excellent WIFI, I could make my own waffles in the morning. A shuttle every hour on the half hour - so convenient and made sure there was no stress at all.

The location of the Hotel is good for overnight stays if you are doing an overnigh connection as it is close to both JFK and LGA airports. The lift in the building though is not very user friendly. It could only take me and my baby stroller alone, I could not even add my luggage.

Hotel is convenient and clean and staff is very polite and helpful. An unexpected highlight is the continental breakfast run by a kind and professional woman named Uma. She puts care and attention into everything she does which elevates the entire experience. Being on the road and traveling from place to place can be alienating and it makes a big difference when someone shows a little bit of genuine care for you - makes it feel like home! Thanks Uma.

I suppose one of the cheapest hotel close to JFK. The front staff was polite, room clean. You get what you pay off. I had to leave really early in the morning so didn't experience breakfast. The Grab & Go was thoughtful.

The cleaning service are very punctual and they are very speedy, tidy and consistent at what they do. Also, one particular staff member, Uma, who prepares breakfast, is especially dependable every morning to be ready to serve every guest to her fullest. She not only provides exceptional catering but is always on time every morning which we may take for granted. Overall, she's definitely a cornerstone that upholds Best Western's services. JJ_Gar_5510, Bronxville, New York 17/12/2017

Overall I had a good experience at this hotel. The staff was kind, friendly and helpful. The room was clean and had a microwave and a refrigerator. The room I was in was very small but I've grown to expect that in the city. I was grateful that it included free parking. In addition it included complimentary breakfast however I left early and did not get to eat breakfast therefore, I cannot comment on the quality of the breakfast. However, at checkout the employee was sympathetic and offered me some water bottles and complimentary snack bars which was very thoughtful. There's also a local supermarket walking distance and some other grocery stores. My only complaint was that I was disappointed that there were no HD channels so the picture quality was pretty horrible. The room had a Vizio TV and I own Vizio TVs so I know that they make good quality TVs but for some reason the hotel did not offer any HD channels. This may not matter to other people but I'm a big TV watcher so for me, they lost lost some points for that. Oh and one more thing, it is also conveniently located walking distance from the E train station.

"A really enjoyable stay"

Speaker1, Wisconsin 05/12/2017

I stayed at this hotel from Nov. 30th- Dec.4th, and what a nice stay we had. From the time I entered the door, I received excellent service. The room was very nice and had a coffee machine with ample coffee. The bathroom was spotless and well stocked with towels. The breakfast was very filling, and included everything from waffles you make in a waffle iron to healthy options of fruit and yogurt. The cleaning lady was on point and made sure your room was taken care of. This hotel is close to the subway, and it's about a 30 minute sunway ride to Manhattan or downtown. This hotel offered everything I look for in a NY hotel. I'll definately stay here on my next trip to NY. So enjoyable. Note: If you want to take your breakfast to your room, take the brown tray from your room(the one by the coffeemaker with the packets of coffee on it), put your breakfast items on the tray and carry it up to your room. Note: There is a restaurant nearby called Flagship where the service is excellent. Note: There is a snack machine on the first floor, right behind the soda vending machine.

We have stayed here often. This time we got a room with a smaller tv. Also, the heater had no thermostat, so we were either too hot or too cold. And the fridge made a ticking sound. The rooms all have great photos of NYC.

Best features: free parking and complimentary breakfast. The room was cramped. With a king sized bed, chair, wardrobe, and desk there was very little space to walk around. There was no closet and the wardrobe had very had little space to hang up clothes. Fortunately the stay was short.

For anyone not from the city who is nervous about where to stay in the Jamaica area of Queens this is the place. We are small town people not used to the hustle bustle of the city and were a little frightened about staying in this area. After staying here for two nights I can highly recommend this hotel to everyone. We were here for a family wedding and there were many other guests staying here also. All of the people I spoke to had a very positive experience. I can also speak to the quality of the soundproofing, I heard that there was an after wedding party that went on in the hotel until the wee hours of the morning and we did not hear a thing. Staff were all friendly and extremely helpful.

3
jillcapris, Windermere, United States 10/11/2017

Housekeeping staff was very nice, polite and accommodating. However, this location is likely is better equipped for a 1-night stay. My company booked me for multiple nights and staff did not seem accustomed/equipped to address my requests/questions as a long-term lodger. Actually, the front desk attendant that was typically on duty when I would depart and return each day, was often on his cell phone, appeared pre-occupied, and found my questions/requests humorous (i.e.g., I have a 12-night stay, which floor is your laundry room, my room should have 2 beds). The attendant actually laughed...out loud. The motel also had a very strong pungent scent -- likely some type of air cleaner. Room was very small/tight...again for a one-night stay okay...but for a long-term stay uncomfortable.

"Good enough for one night - close to JFK Airport"

3
T D, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 31/10/2017

We stayed here one night since we had an early morning flight from JFK. We stayed in room 412. It was a small corner room with one king sized bed. They have complimentary breakfast, but the selection was not that good or plenty. The breakfast room was on the SC floor (basement) and it was really crammed since there was a large group eating breakfast at the same time like us. Free parking is available. Not sure if we would stay again but for one night - it was good enough.

stayed at this hotel for one night due to my flight cancellation (so had to book at the last minute). Room was very clean and surprisingly quiet. No frills, but all I wanted after hours of sitting at the airport was clean bed and shower. Your satisfaction is important to us and we will be using the feedback you gave us to implement improvements to ensure we offer a better experience for guests in the future. We really do require guest to put the parking tag in the car as we have an independent towing company that goes around 3 to 4 times the whole day and tows cars without it. The grab and go should be provided to all guests checking out from 6:00 am to 7:00 am as the breakfast bar is open at 7:00 am. As for the email receipt, We will investigate on why it was not sent to you as requested. We do remember you calling yesterday and have requested for it and while on the phone you did mention that you still have not received it. Yes it is close to the airport but our room on the C level was dark and the carpet was stained and there were uneven ridges on the floor as if the joists were starting to poke through. Stayed one night for an early flight out of JFK. Clean, quiet, well kept and service was prompt, efficient and courteous. Was offered a first floor room, which we thought might be noisy due to street noise, but room was very quiet. "Good Hotel for Citi Field events"

4
Kathleen L, St. John's, Canada 05/09/2017

Overall, I had a pleasant stay at the Best Western Jamaica Inn. The check in was simple and the room was clean. I felt safe in the hotel and the breakfast was good. I stayed there for an event at Citi Field. Going to the event was no problem! The uber was cheap and we arrived easily. However, getting back to the hotel is another story! Taxis and ubers are nonexistent and if you are taking the subway, you need to transfer to a bus. I recommend you research and know your route before leaving as it can be tiring and frustrating trying to return. The location is also not the easiest if you want to leave Queens throughout the day. Subways are available but know where they are as staff were uncertain of routes when we asked. Apart from that, it was a pleasant stay.

We found the room clean with plenty of amenities such as towels, pillows, blankets, etc. The air conditioner was great! The shower was hot with a strong water flow. Staff was friendly and very helpful. The only down side to our stay was the location didn't seem like a safe neighborhood, but we didn't need to walk anywhere so it wasn't a deciding factor when booking this hotel.

Found the neighborhood to be ok. The room was comfortable but small for 2 queen beds. It was close enough to Citi Field to drive for the Classic East concert. Check in and check out were easy as we had reservations. All the staff was professional and courteous. Breakfast times were good and the food was good. Overall it was a pleasant stay.

I want to thank the staff at this location for providing a clean hotel inside and out! My family and I stayed here for 5 days and could not be happier. The location, parking and convenience is also great. Overall, I was very satisfied with my stay here and would recommend it to others. When I return to the New York area, there's a great chance I will return o the Best Western in Jamaica! Thanks again.

"Good hotel to visit New York"

User 28/07/2017

The hotel is reasonably priced and accessible to both JFK and Manhattan. We got a cab from JFK which cost $21 although you could get the subway which would cheaper. The nearest subway is Jamaica Van Wyck which is a 5-10 minute walk from the hotel. This subway is also accessible for disabled visitors with a lift (we have a wheelchair). The hotel is clean and staff are very helpful, Uma in the breakfast area ensures there are lots of items including sausage, eggs, toast, croissant, waffles, yoghurt, fruit etc - a really good choice for a complementary breakfast! Yes the hotel is a little dated but it is perfectly adequate as you are not in it long. It has a business centre and fitness room. It does take about 45 minutes on the subway to get to Manhattan (world Trade Centre) but provided you travel outside rush hour you can usually get seated. At $33 for a 7 day pass transport is reasonable. Locally the Flagship diner (3 minute walk from hotel) is fantastic for food - lots of choice and good food. The area felt safe to walk around with a supermarket and shops near by. All in all a great choice to visit NY without spending an absolute fortune.

The Best Western Jamaica Inn was a nice, inexpensive hotel with comfortable, clean rooms and good beds. For the price and it's location in NYC, it can't be beat. The WiFi was good and they offered decent TV. It's a five minute walk from nearby subway stations (Jamaica Van Wyck and Briarwood stations). There are also a row of restaurants and grocery/convenience stores not too far away. I found the Jamaica Queens area to be very run down and not the most pleasant but this hotel was an exception. Breakfast consisted of donuts, yogurt, fruit (apples and bananas), cereal, muffins, croissant rolls, eggs, sausage, and toast. That's pretty good compared to most places. The staff was very friendly and courteous whenever we made a request. Very good hotel! Just wish it were closer to Manhattan.

We spent one night here after arriving on an evening international flight and before heading down to Manhattan the following morning. The hotel is situated near several train stations, with good connections. There are several restaurants nearby within easy walking distance. The room was clean and comfortable with free wifi. Breakfast was excellent I must agree with previous comments praising Ms Uma, she did a wonderful job. Everything was well stocked and fresh, no issue with the coffee machine either. Overall a great stay, we wouldn't hesitate to return.

"Fine enough, but some issues"

3
User 10/07/2017

The hotel was clean enough and the front desk folk friendly, but when we had some questions about the area, they were not able to answer. (Questions included asking how to get to the nearby train station, so nothing too strange.) Another quibble, which seems minor, but which was actually a problem, was with breakfast. They have a fancy coffee maker in the breakfast room, which sounds lovely, but it makes only one cup at a time and it takes a few minutes to reheat between cups. When the breakfast room is full and everyone wants coffee or hot water, it means the wait is interminable. For this reason alone, I would not return there. I'll put up with a lot, but I want my coffee with breakfast!

"Overpriced for Area and Type of Hotel Stay"

2
stephenp192017, Sparta, Wisconsin 02/07/2017

I had 2 rooms on the same floor. Oneroom needed work cleaning the carpet and the shower. The other room was clean. Breakfast was in a sub cellar adjacent to a sweaty work out room. Breakfast was best part of stay. Parking is limited, and the adjacent hotel empties their garbage at 1:30 am at night. Yes, I told both the hotel and Best Western customer service that they had to check this place out. Traffic is horrendous that whole weekend from Friday through Sunday night. Looking at the posts on this property I assume I was the only individual who had their eyes open for evaluations to submit on property, or they were all first floor rooms. Expensive also

pastor562, New York City, New York 30/06/2017

I have stayed in this hotel 5 times from March 2016 to July 2017. Twice as a group of 2, three times as a LARGE group (33, 15, 30). An older hotel that has been completely redone and is constantly maintained to the highest standards. Front desk staff very courteous. Room staff does a consistently good job. However, for our groups, the best part has been the complimentary breakfast every day (hint: go to breakfast early. It's good and will get crowded - it IS NYC). Located halfway between JFK and LaGuardia, it is also 1/4 mile from 2 subway stations, making travel of groups MUCH easier. This is a gem of a value. We will be returning...

twinstars616, Richmond Hill, Canada 27/06/2017

Overall, this place did the job, but you should go there with the right expectations. I would rate the overall accommodation below what you would expect at a normal Best Western; but with that said, this place is at the right price if you just want a place to rest your head, park your car and as a bonus, free breakfast. Pros: Free Wifi: This hotel has one of THE BEST Wifi service we have seen in hotels and this includes the higher end hotels. There was no limit on number of devices and we had no problems streaming videos and music. We were connected automatically for the 4 nights after first login. If you need reliable wifi service, this place earns bonus points for that! Really nice staff. We had a couple of issues, and they were both taken care of as promised by staff. Breakfast area attendant Uma, in particular, was very friendly and helpful. Free breakfast. Breakfast area was well maintained, kudos to Uma. I was there for 4 mornings and not once did I feel like anything was not stocked. The area was clean, lots of selection, overall, very good breakfast. Healthy options such as hard boiled eggs, yogurt, milk, fruits, instant oatmeal were available, as well as some treat breakfast items such as waffles, muffins, and donuts. Hot items included sausages and scrambled eggs. Fitness room. Although small, it was well kept. Plenty of towels and water provided. If you just want to do some weights and cardio, it will work. The machines are old Life Fitness equipment, but they work. Location: It was convenient for attending a convention at St. John's University. It was close enough that we were able to go back and forth. We did not utilize the subway station but we did see where it was located and it is indeed very convenient. Easy access to highway and lots of food options if you are willing to walk a little bit. Free parking - we parked on ground level each night and the area was well lit. Cons: The place is dated and the carpet looks old and dirty. The bathroom counter space is almost non existent. Toilet flushes very hard, make sure you close the lid before flushing. Items in the room do not look very clean, the alarm clock looks like it needs to be wiped down or replaced. Some of the electrical outlets are old and if you put your charger in, it just falls out. Overall, if you are not a neat freak and do want to save some money, this hotel may just work for you. A couple of tips: bring some wipes and if you are sensitive to noise, bring ear plugs. The windows are very thin and the street noise may bother some.

This is a reasonably priced hotel, well located in Jamaica Walking distance from couple of Ny-Subway stations. The hotel is few hundred meters away from Briarwood Van Wyck Blbd exit on 678 to JFK airport. Sunoco gas station is just behind the hotel JFK Air-train connects to Jamaica station which is 0.8 miles away from the hotel. Overall I find it best place from connectivity point of view. Two Queen Bed room was clean, enough space for four adults. Enough parking space considering busy Jamaica. Area around appears to be safe, we walked to subway and food joints nearby. Morning breakfast is sumptuous, staff is cordial. The leady in-charge of breakfast room ( Uma) was really caring. Overall I find it best choice for future trips.

We had a great stay at Best Western Jamaica. They were very easy to work with and were completely non discriminatory to yhe special needs members of our family and were great about the service dog as well. I was espwcially impressed with Uma, who was the hot breakfast attendant. She was always cheerful, patient and friendly. One morning while I was in the breakfast room there was a disgruntled guest who became very confrontational with her and made some very rude comments repeatedly. She continuously went out of her way to try to ammend the situation and make him happy to no avail. During the confrontation she went out of her way to avoid arguing and dealt with the situation very humbly. The front desk attendants were also friendly and helpful. They were easy to work with and made great suggestions for local food. Over all we had a great stay, and we would definitely stay again.

Important directional advice: I checked 3 different GPS systems on this (Apple, Google & Subaru) and NOT ONE distinguished between the Van Wick Expressway (note the address of this property) and the SERVICE ROAD to the Van Wick that this hotel sits on. It's easy to get lost! Once you find it, the parking here is a little haphazard, but everything else is OK for a budget hotel. The breakfast was simple but not bad; the fitness room sufficient. We stayed on the C floor (and C did stand for cellar) but it was ok.

"For the area Better than Most"

3
User 11/04/2017

We travel in and out of JFK quite a bit. My experiences with budget hotels in and around the area are mixed at best. Compared to others, this is better than most. I am going to preface this by saying, by the time we checked into out hotel is was the end of 3 flights over the course of close to 20 hours. I will also say that they have exceptional customer service, The gentleman at the front desk when we arrived after a very long day of travel, was very friendly, very service minded, and made the check in very easy. Checking out was quick and efficient. First the Positives: The room is fine, and when we arrived it appeared clean. It has all the basics you need to survive for a night or two. Hair dryer, coffee maker, ironing board and iron. Wifi is free and from what we could tell was fine. It is close to the airport, 10 or 20 minutes by taxi depending on the time of day and traffic. The breakfast was nice, they offer scrambled eggs (not sure if they are real or not), sausage patties, and then the normal continental breakfast. Overall a nice breakfast, most higher end hotels will not have warm food out as part of a continental. Now the negatives: When we woke up in the morning the room smelled of moldy water, after taking a closer look we noticed a small drip coming from the ceiling, appearing to be a leak from the roof. Then as we were packing up to leave to head to the airport, as we searched the room to ensure we had everything, we found a pastry on the floor, under the second bed. It had been there for a while. This tells me that although the room appears clean, it might not be as clean as you think. I did not bring this to the attention of the hotel because we were tired and in zombie mode as we left very early to endure another 8 hours of travel. Overall we would stay there again, we will just be sure to inspect the room a little more thoroughly before accepting it.

BW_33141, Front Office Manager at Best Western Jamaica Inn, responded to this review

If you ever visit NYC and you don't want to stay in Manhattan or other areas, try considering this place because this place does really give you the best bang for the buck. It's very close to the airport, it has free parking spaces, and most importantly a fresh-warm and free breakfast every morning. The room I stayed was clean and it has all of the basic amenities that you can expect from a Best Western. However, asides all those nice things, be mindful that since this is a budget hotel, don't be surprised if you get a really small room and feel cramped once you're inside it. Also, it'd better if you are going to drive or rent a rental car in NYC because this place won't be convenient if you try to rely on the public transport.

"Good choice hotel if you have a rental car"

WallaceMang, Fullerton, California 07/03/2017

The hotel locates next to freeway to JFK, takes about 15-20 mins to the airport. However the hotel is old and small. Room is OK, wifi is good. The breakfast has many choices, including fruits and pancake. My room is closed to the road, not much noise from outside. The best is that parking is free if you have a rental car.

I stayed for a night before a flight and would stay there again. The rooms are smaller, typical of a budget hotel, but the room still provided a great guest experience. I did not, see an airport shuttle so I suspect taking an Uber or taxi will do. Pros: -Very clean -All walls and furniture were in great shape. -Plenty of natural light -Free breakfast area was inviting had plenty of selections. -Plenty of towels. Cons: none I could see. Items to note: No carpet in room, just tile. Bathroom was simple, but well designed.

Richard G, Rochester, United States 28/11/2016

We use this hotel whenever we visit our daughter in Queens. Not that convenient to get into Manhattan but the free off street parking is a real plus. Not a fancy hotel but a good safe place if you are staying in the Queens or Brooklyn area.

"FINE for a night or two."

MyMauiBoston, Boston 02/11/2016

Good location, neighborhood is fine. LOTS of restaurants of great variety - Italian, Indian, Chinese, Peruvian, fish, Spanish & American, a diner around the corner...& they all deliver. Will be using the JFK shuttle in the am. Room is a good size, yeah there are some street sounds, but hat is what I expect in NYC. It is not too bad. Staff very friendly. Clean. Cabs come quickly, but if you are not hauling tons of stuff, there are lots of busses & the subway, of course. I would stay here again.

Rey T, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Jamaica Inn, responded to this review
Greetings, Thank you for your kind review. We unfortunately do not have a shuttle that can take you to and from JFK airport. It is still under review by management. We are glad that your stay with us went well. Sincerely, Alfie/Front office

"Awful"

1
vcarden, ringtown, pa 31/10/2016

Upon check in was Told they have no veins or pack n plays. So simply put nowhere for my baby to sleep! The room was dirty. Crumbs all over the floor. Shower pressure was awful. Front desk was no help. Told us to park below and we and t to go but cones were in the way so we had to call. He came out and moved the cones. He probably shouldn't have because the parking garage was like a dungeon. Anyone could walk in there, hijack your car or disassemble it for parts and no one would even know. So we came up and parked outside the hotel where there were actual lights. The hotel smells overall and is a dingy mess. Can't believe I spent $150 on this dump. Stay away.

Rey T, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Jamaica Inn, responded to this review
Greetings, We are currently investigating on who was on duty when you checked in. We do have baby cribs upon request on a first come first serve basis. Our basement parking is a secure parking and well lit and we do have video cameras and a security that goes around the parking lot during the night. We apologize for you feeling bad staying with us. The hotel is very convenient for when you want to spend your last day in New York. The airport is very close, around 15 min by car (if there is not too much traffic ;-). The hotel staff is very helpful! The rooms are clean and the breakfast is good enough to start the day. We enjoyed staying here!

4
Judith H, Rockaway, New Jersey 18/10/2016

Good hotel, decent accommodations. The rooms are a good size for a NY hotel, and the prices tend to be lower than other nearby hotels. Our room was quiet, and the beds very comfortable. The bathroom was clean and well-appointed. There was plenty of space to store clothing. The hotel offers free breakfast, but our flight was very early in the morning so we weren't able to stay for the 7:00 breakfast start time.

"Decent but overpriced"

3
Pedjat87, Tivat Municipality, Montenegro 15/10/2016

We stayed for 8 nights in October for our NYC vacation, and overall it was a very good stay. 130$ per night is way too much for a 2* hotel in Queens, which is 30-50 mins by subway from the city, depends on where you go on Manhattan. Real price is more around 70-80 per night. 15 mins from subway, the area is a bit sketchy in the evening since there is no light on part of the road around subway station. Room itself is very comfortable, very nice bed and bathroom with a bath tub. After walking 20+ km every day it is nice for relaxation. Room was very clean and well cleaned. Staff is nice, especially Andrew and Uma. Breakfast is very nice, very filling. We would come back again if do not find better deal closer to the city.

"Good location.. BUT..."

3
User 13/09/2016

I stayed here on my trips to NYC over the past 5 years. I am a NY'er so I know the good, bad and ugly parts of Queens. I do like the microwave and fridge in the room. The parking is not great at all especially if the SHORT STAY MOTEL JETS INN is having a busy night. They try to split the parking between the two, but very hard to do. Street Parking is not great either as there is a large apartment building across the street from the hotel. There is a good Diner - Flag ship and to get a NY Bodega Breakfast a place called Spiros ( they deliver ) is also down the block. If you are not use to the noise of street cars/horns honking or just the hustle n bustle of NY bring ear plugs.

Rey T, General Manager at BEST WESTERN Jamaica Inn, responded to this review

Excellent location and great service. Whenever we travel to New York we choose to stay at Best Western in Jamaica, NY. It is right in our comfort zone and we are so familiar with the area. It backs up to Queens blvd with easy access to the subway, busses, restaurants and shopping. For the last 12 years we have always stayed there whenever in New York. 5
Yvette L, port of spain, Trinidad and Tobago 30/08/2016

I have nothing bad to say about this hotel (except maybe the cold scrambled eggs and sausage, but then again nobody's perfect, that's what the microwave is for). My room was clean, housekeeping was friendly; sorry i couldn't tip more. The only downside to staying here is that not much shopping around, so having a car is vital. There's a lovely Christian store around the corner, a diner within walking distance and basic needs shops - like a pharmacy and a so-called 99c and up store. There is no airport shuttle however, so be prepared to pay for a cab if you need to get to the airport.

The room service staff is very friendly, however, the higher authorities are very rude and nosy. The rooms were clean, they provide nice breakfast and the breakfast lady was also very nice. It's just the management people were rude, it's very bothering. Otherwise it's a nice hotel for a week stay.

Awesome staff at the hotel, very good internet, nice rooms size, very clean, close to two subways line , 35 minutes away from Manhattan , nice parking area inside and outside, very good breakfast , very close to two main airports but the most important, was the service provided by the general manager Mr. rey A. The Hotel was very clean, the A/C worked very well and the pillows and beds were great! Being away from home is hard sometimes when you don't have the comfort of home. We enjoyed the breakfast, loved the staff and the beds, pillows and room were very clean and comfortable. A+ for this location! It is a simple but well taken care of hotel with everything you need without being fancy. There was a variety of selections for breakfast, but what we liked best was the waffles and Umas' friendly smile. It is close to the subway (5 min walk) but the ride to Manhattan takes 30-45 min, depending on if you get an express train or not.

5
User 26/07/2016

I stayed here for a week while visiting for work and was very pleased with my stay. The hotel had free parking, a huge surprise to me, and also had several good breakfast options in the morning. It's a short walk to the F and E lines, convenient for getting to Manhattan and the other boroughs and is nearby some pretty good food options. This hotel was a huge treat for the cheap price I paid for my stay. I would definitely recommend it, and will likely stay here again if and when I return to NYC for work.

My church group & I stayed here for a full week & were extremely pleased. No problems. The staff does go out of their way for you. I spoke to Alfie several times before arriving & he was always accommodating & helpful. Sonny was there when we checked in & through our first weekend there & again top notch staff. The beds are comfy, the a/c is a great relief when coming back from a full hot day out! It is about 10 mins walking away from train or bus. Breakfast is great: scrambled eggs, sausage, cinnamon or regular waffles, sliced american cheese, yogurt, bagels & cream cheese, toast & jelly, OJ, apple juice, special hot coffee beverages, fruit, & more. The breakfast lady is also so very nice & will do whatever she can to make your breakfast time just what you need to start your day. Entire building is very clean. There is enough parking. Just a very enjoyable time & we thank God we had such a super place to come back to after sharing Jesus Christ through our missions trip there. Super great!

"Enough parking lot and very loud street noise"

3
shhong66, Pleasanton, California 08/07/2016

This motel was moderate for NYC travel because metro station is nearby and parking lot is very spacious and around this motel was very safe. However, I didn't sleep because of very loud highway noise. If you are sensitive about noise, Avoid this motel. But, I could sleep from the second night since I was so much tired of hard travel in NYC. This motel is very good unless you have noise problem.

The room is small, but overall it was clean, close to subways, breakfast was good. I will definitely stay here again. Free Parking, Free Breakfast that's hard to find in NY. Lady name Uma, was great keeping on top of the breakfast area, she is a caring person. A hard working lady.

Wifi free and good. Room size small for three. Toilet looks clean, towels without smell. Amenities available. Shower with water flow good. Pillow, mattress and blanket ok. Air conditioner functioning well. Location good. breakfast ok. Housekeeping ok. Hotel staffs' attitude are good. Free parking.

"Room Deposit?"

4
Michael C, Richmond, United States 19/06/2016

This is my first experience of having to leave a room deposit placed on my credit card before checking in. I was quite uncomfortable with this especially without prior notice from Best Western when making this reservation. What would have happen if I only had enough $ to cover the room and not the deposit? For me, this adds up to poor customer service and a lack of consideration for people who travel.

"Excellent accommodation"

Really clean hotel at a great price, I would highly recommend a stay there. Rooms are clean and modern. Hotel is quiet and well managed with a very friendly staff. A good deal of parking for a New York hotel

"Not Bad"

3
MrRu, Westminster, California 07/06/2016

Staying two nights here. Overall, I have no complaint. Two thumps up for letting me check in early. My flight arrived early at 10:00 AM and I smoothly checked in. Free breakfast is not really fantastic but what you pay is what you get. Room is okay. Overall, it's a okay hotel.

"Nothing special about this hotel. It's air condition is so old that it makes such big noise."

3
User 01/06/2016

The staff was helpful. The room was not as spacious as the description, I think the tripadvisor description is not true. The air condition is really old and make tremendous noise, but I had to use it because if you open the window the traffic noise is even worse. But the bath is super clean and the bed is very big and comfortable. I probably won't stay there again though as there is no JFK airport shuttle comes nearby. You have to spend extra 20 USD to get there. I arrive very late at night due to the fly. There is no grocery store to get food. Only a small petro shop that sell crisps. The hotel didn't provide drinking water. You have to get your water from machine. I think it is not very nice at such late night.

"Great location and staff"

The staff here is amazing!! They make you feel like family. The hotel is located right off the highway or a short walk from the subway. Great Location!! Great Price!! "BEST WESTERN of New York"

4
User 01/06/2016

While my family and I were visiting New York City, we stayed at BEST WESTERN - Jamaica Inn. The room provided for us was comfortable and had everything we needed. They also had a breakfast bar, which was well stocked and had a wide variety as well as maps and brochures that provided helpful suggestions for where to go. The staff there are pleasant and polite like Mr. Alfie of the Front Desk. Not only was he pleasant and polite, he was helpful, friendly, and accommodating.

"good hotel for the price"

4
User 27/05/2016

friendly and clean hotel, close to JFK airport and few steps to subway E - 30 minutes to city centre. Rooms are usual, clean bathrooms. Only thing is they do not provide baby cots... Breakfast is sufficient, the woman there treated our 1-year old boy like her own, he got what he wanted and what was not on the table usualy. Thank you for that!

"Pleasant Stay / Convenient Location"

5
rtz2015, Dover, Delaware 25/05/2016

I have stayed at this hotel in the past, and have found the location convenient. The subway is within walking distance and close to restaurants. Alfie checked me in and out this time and I found him to be friendly, efficient and very helpful. The room was small but clean and adequate, the internet worked well, and the breakfast was very good, The attendant (I didn't get her name) was friendly and efficient and attentive to keep filling items when near empty. The housekeeping staff were also friendly. If you are looking for a hotel that is convenient and the prices are lower than a hotel in New York, and a friendly atmosphere, this would be the place to stay in Queens.

"Good value for money in Queens"

4
Omar D, Barcelona, Spain 25/05/2016

It's a pretty good room and bed for what you pay, and even if it's in Queens, if you want to visit Manhattan you'll get there in a 30-40 min subway ride. The staff was quite friendly and helpful. Basic gym appreciated. Breakfast was felt as low-quality and could be improved.

Herve S, Aix-en-Provence, France 22/05/2016

Everything was good compare to the paid price. I would definetly go back to the hotel more often if the windows were better and blocked the noise coming from the highway. People were great and helpfull. The hotel is a little far from the city but if you know your way using the subway, you are max 30-45 min to Manhattan... not bad in NYC. Close to JFK was also a good deal for us.

The room is nice and comfortable, with the essential needs. One of the highlights of this hotel is the breakfast bar: well stocked and maintained by Miss Uma who is attentive to stock and taste of the visitors as well as courteous and polite.

"Comfortable quiet rooms and a great breakfast"

5
Mark N, CATSKILL, United States 13/05/2016

The staff of this hotel are exceptionally friendly and accommodating. The rooms are comfortable and quiet and the bed mattress was of good quality - made for a great night sleep. Ample shower pressure and nice bathroom. The best part though I have to admit is the breakfast where I enjoyed my homemade waffle, yummy eggs, surprisingly good coffee, yogurt (they even had the good Greek kind) and a nice variety of cereal, juice, and fruits. The location is convenient and easy to find and get to. I will definitely stay here again.

"First Visit to New York"

4
User 12/05/2016

This was our first visit to New York and we chose this hotel as it was fairly close to JFK and had convenient surroundings. The drive from the airport to the hotel was about 15 minutes and once we got there, we were greeted by a friendly hotel clerk who checked us in very swiftly. We stayed on the fourth and highest floor of the hotel and once we got in the room, there was indeed a slight smell of smoke but as time went on, this was no longer noticeable. The bathroom was a decent size, the beds were pretty comfortable and the layout of the room was nice. The microwave that was available was really convenient. The electrical sockets seem like they need replacing as they are pretty loose. One moment you're charging your phone, the next moment the charger is on the floor. The channel selection for the TV could have been better but this wasn't a big deal as this was pretty much just a place to sleep. Housekeeping was good and the rooms were always kept clean. Breakfast in the morning was pretty good as it had a good bit to choose from which ranged from juices, coffee, tee, eggs, sausages, different types of bread, bagels, pastries, different types of cereals and a good selection of fruits and yogurts. It was pretty much everything you need from a continental breakfast. Uma, the breakfast room staff member was really friendly and kind. She was always willing to help in any way possible. This hotel has a really good location with regards to the subway station, shopping, and restaurants. Queens Center Mall is a 20 minute drive away and that mall is really nice. The Briarwood Van Wyck subway station is a 5 minute walk away and so are restaurants like the Flagship Diner, Subway, Domino's, McDonalds, KFC, Wendy's, and Dunkin' Donuts. There were also a variety of grocery stores nearby. Heading into NYC was fairly easy as well due to this nearby subway station. Through communicating with MTA representatives, getting into the city was a good experience and took about 30 or 40 minutes. Overall, it was a good experience and I would recommend this hotel as somewhere to stay if you are looking for a cheaper option.

Great hotel for a visit in NYC. The subway is located 10 minutes away. Clean rooms, friendly staff, especially Uma in the breakfast room. There's a Walmart and Starbucks at Jamaica Station, one subway station to JFK and LIRR.

It was close to Saint John's where our daughter attends. It was close in proximity to NYC. All in all, we will be back. The room was clean. The fitness center had one treadmill, bike and elliptical. No free weights.

We liked the hotel for its cleanliness, friendly/professional staff with ample parking. It is accessible to most freeways and JFK is not far either. We checked at other places and this hotel was $18-20 less for the same dates, would recommend this to anyone.

I booked one night to surprise my husband and to escape the routine , I expected less because of the price but the truth is that I was surprised. The breakfast was good and the room was very quite. The staff was very nice and helpful, a wonderful check in experience.

"Only good thing was the bed"

1
SomeGrrrl, Washington 25/02/2016

I booked this hotel for a night while waiting for a long layover at the airport. After booking, I wish I would have just stayed at the airport. The place I booked it from said it offered shuttle service, I get there and they don't. They are undergoing construction so the whole lobby area is blocked off and you have to walk around the hotel to get into the back. Not ideal when you have luggage or are in a hurry. The location of the place was hard for the Uber driver to pick us up from the next morning. The heat didn't work in the room at all, actually the window wouldn't even completely close. There was a cockroach in my room (granted, this didn't bother me since it happens often in NYC). The ONLY good thing about the room was the bed was super comfy and I was able to sleep quickly so at least I didn't have to stay awake to let the crappyness of the room bother me. It may be fine for a cheap overnight stay, but would I recommend it? Definitely not.

"Compassionate Staff"

5
User 30/01/2016

My mother has stayed at this location for 3 weeks due to a family health emergency at a nearby hospital. As stressful and disheartening as the situation is, we find comfort in the hotel's staff. Over the past few weeks, everyone here has rallied behind and supported my mother with their prayers, compassion, and care. Being from out of town, we would've never expected the support from the team here. Every morning, my mother is greeted by Uma, who manages the hotel's breakfast. She has been so kind, and sweet to my mother. Her words of support have been instrumental in making my mother feel welcomed and comfortable at a time of emergency. I'm so grateful for Uma, and the rest of the hotel staff's compassion and support in my family's time of need. Thank you so much.

"Pleasant Stay"

5
Isaac C, Warfield, United States 28/01/2016

This is an older hotel but very nicely kept. The staff was very pleasant and very courteous and addressed all my questions and concerns. I traveled to this hotel from VA. I stayed here the night before the Blizzard2016. I booked one night but at check-in I requested a second night. The staff was concern that I was going to stay another night in light of the upcoming storm. I took the staff's advice and stayed only one night. It was good advice. If I had stayed another night I would have been stranded for 3 additional nights. I would stay here again without question.

"Good budget hotel"

I stayed at this hotel for one night with my family. The hotel is conveniently located very near to the JFK Airport. The rooms are clean and free parking is available at the hotel. The breakfast is normal affair. A special mention for the lady who manages the breakfast buffet, she is very helpful and caring.

"My stay was awesome"

5

I cannot explain the professionalism from the staff at the Best Western. It is the only hotel in the New York area that is reasonable and clean. I have recommended this hotel to all of my family members and friends. I wish everyone could have the experience of staying at the Best Western hotel. No one is running down the hallways screaming and fighting. I felt safe while I was there and always have.

"Nice Hotel"

5

We enjoyed our stay at the hotel. the room was always clean and the staff was very friendly. I wouldn't go to breakfast if you feel awkward easily; the woman in charge of breakfast will pester you throughout your meal about filling out a survey about the food.

I have been in hotel Best Western Jamaica,in Queens ,New York till 12 th to 17 thDecember of 2015. My small bag with christmas gifts have been dissapeared ,but i am fine. But wheni recognized, that in1 th january my card has been used by somebody for toys in Brooklyn and Bronx i started to be mad. Iam in Europe from 17 th december 2015 and somebody used my ID from my credit card in 1 th january 2016 in NY. I wrote to hotel about this issue, what has been happened, but nobody answered me.So,i suppose, that only staff from reception of this hotel had time to use my ID and security number of my card..And my necles and gifts from my room were disappered also.I did receive any answer from managment of this hotel and only i have to make reservation by my no credit card ,but by my bank in future.

When in NY we always try to book this Hotel. We have been staying there whenever we come to NY except the year of the terrible 'Sandy" That was the only time that there was no availability. This hotel is close to public transportation with a short trip to NYC. Buses come buy frequently. Close to shopping area. It is always a pleasure to stay here. The service is very good. Just a very pleasant place to stay.

"Personal"

5
Cathy H, New Rochelle, United States 05/12/2015

The overall stay was great. the marijuana smoking was a little uncomfortable at times. The staff told me that they cannot promise that there is no smoking marijuana in the Non Smoking rooms. I felt that was unacceptable. The Breakfast does not cater to people that do not eat pork buy products.

"Friendly Staff, Good Location"

4
Myla F, Long Island, New York 25/11/2015

It's several minutes walk to subway (line E/F) and there is supermarket nearby as well as coffee shop / take out restaurant. I booked the place for a friend who is in NYC for US Open tennis tournament and stayed with her for two nights. From the hotel to Flushing was about 30-45 minutes subway ride (depending on which time of the day you travel), convenient enough with competitive price. I like that there is a microwave and a small fridge in the room, very helpful in summer! One thing though, the air conditioner is very loud so it might take a while to fall asleep at night... The staff there are very friendly. Breakfast is simple but acceptable. Parking is free so that's great, and the hotel is right by express way entrance.

"Jamaica Stay"

Kyaunnee R, Miami Gardens, United States 14/11/2015

I was satisfied with my stay at this hotel. Enjoyed New York City. However, I just was a little disappointed with the lack of curtsy and respect some of those who were staying in their respected rooms and smoking in a non-smoking room.

"Good location and close to citi field"

4
Nilesh K, Herndon, VA, United States 13/11/2015

Very good place for the price we paid for the rooms. Very friendly staff. Enjoyed my stay with my friends. I would certainly comeback to this place. If you are planning to attend an event at citi field then this is a good place to stay

"Great Location"

5

Each time I stay at this facility, I encounter a very professional front desk agent with wonderful communication skills and polite temperament. Whish quite refreshing after a long travel. The rooms are very clean and comfortable as well. The location is near High ways to get me to various destinations. The eateries are near by, making this hotel very convenient for me. Just a great place to stay.

"Just to spend a night before a flight"

2
zipa, Ontario Canada 30/10/2015

Old hotel, old rooms. I appreciate the breakfast though. Is what you get for the price paid. If you plan to stay there, plan to take a taxi to move around or walk to the subway. The area is a bit sketchy. We stayed there just for a night before taking a plane out of JFK

"Tired and overpriced"

2
Richard R, Sydney, Australia 30/10/2015

I wanted an overnight stop close to JFK after picking up a rental car and thought this looked okay. The area is dodgy, the hotel tired and the rooms shabby. Free wifi as a Best Western member was the only real redeeming feature. Parking was limited and non-secure, while breakfast in the basement 'restaurant' was basic and largely unappealing. Overall I can't recommend it.

"Good"

4
Queen C, Bear, De, United States 28/10/2015

WE have stayed at Best Western, Jamaica Inn ,NY more than once. The price is right. plus the breakfast is always nice. The rooms are nice and clean. Whenever we are know we are visiting NY reservations are made at Best Western. Since we drive there is always parking. So we do not have to ride around looking for a place to park.

"Staff was friendly! Accommodations are run down."

2
Candie808, Honolulu, Hawaii 17/10/2015

This property is advertised as a 'JFK area hotel' but they do not have a shuttle to and from the airport :(. It cost $25 to catch a yellow cab to the hotel, and we needed two cabs, so that added cost was not fun. The almost all of the front desk staff we encountered, and housekeeping staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast room and exercise rooms are both tiny and underground, and stuffy. The breakfast food was typical egg-products, some sausage, bagels, sliced bread, and pastries, bananas and apples, juice from a machine, coffee and tea, etc. The hotel's hallways are very narrow. Rooms were functional, and the A/C worked nicely, but everything was older and not very pretty. Hotel is far from any restaurant, store, or interesting place to go. The subway was several blocks away. Walkable, but not super close. Hotel was not terrible, but for the price it still felt kinda disappointing.

"Clean, Convenient and Priced Right."

4
Richard R, Dallas, Texas 14/10/2015

I had many places to go in the Queens/Long Island area, and this was central for me.. Friendly staff and moderate cost were factors in my choice. I would stay again.. And there is a Greatkosher deli/restaurant nearby since 1945 (?) with outstanding pastrami too..

"Good choice at short notice"

4
Sue H, Stoke-on-Trent, England, United Kingdom 14/10/2015

I had decided to change my hotel booking at short notice due to the deteriorating reviews of the New World Hotel in Chinatown. As it was so near my departure date my choice within my budget was limited. I was really pleased with my choice. Firstly the hotel is quite near JFK. It is within walking distance of the F & E train. The staff were helpful and knowledgeable. The breakfast was as advertised. I travel alone so felt secure in the room by myself.. The only time I felt concerned was walking back from Briarwood Van Wyck late in the evening as you have to walk along a deserted service road. It is much safer to use the E train station to Jamaica Van Wick. Nothing much to do in the area but the locals were friendly. The room was clean. I never managed to work out how to use the coffee maker ( I did not ask anyone) but the fridge and microwave in the room are useful. The water pressure was good and the hotel was not noisy. All in all a good choice

"Trip to NYC"

User 13/10/2015

We went to New York city to see some shows and do some shopping. The hotels in Manhattan are fairly expensive. This hotel is convenient to a Metro station; 10 minutes walk.and a 40 minute subway ride to Manhattan Room was reasonable for New York prices. Breakfast was good.

"Terrible! Not concerned about your safety at all! "

1
IvyParaluman, Metro Manila, Philippines 06/10/2015

I reserved a room for 2 nights here (Sept 19-20, 2015). Confirmation sent via email says NO NEED to call to confirm, so I trusted that I would come to a nice place to crash into after a long flight. When I got there at 1AM after a grueling 26 hours flight, I was just informed the system cancelled on me and there is nothing the receptionist can do about it because it automatically cancels out if unable to make a successful transaction through a guest's credit card (I don't understand why they claim they were unable to charge my card when I was able to use the same card for the hotel I found within the vicinity later on!) Despite my begging for consideration or some workaround (it was my first time in NY, I'm a woman, I was very tired, it was midnight and chilly outside at that!) this guy at the front desk never lifted a finger to dial any of his neighboring hotels' numbers to check if there could be any room for me. He just said his piece and then pretended I was not there. I walked from one hotel to another to find a place for me to rest. I found one at around 4am. Booking with Best Western is the dumbest decision I made.

"Convenient airport hotel"

4
Robyn R, Perth, Australia 30/09/2015

Stayed here after a cruise as our flight left the next day. Staff were efficient and friendly. The room was small but adequate and clean. No airport noise. No room service but we were provided with several takeaway options which were cheap and delivered to our room. Shuttle to the airport was great.

The motel is located near JFK and very convenient to meet business associates at the air port. The parking is next to the motel. The rooms are sufficient size for an overnight stay. You've accidentally repeated some letters/characters. Please delete them and try again.

I have stayed at this hotel for weeks at a time with groups of youth that were in town for a missions trip. The first year, I had a youth get sick and the staff was INCREDIBLE in helping us. They kept asking how he was doing after he left. The breakfast was great and the lady who works down there has been a sweetheart. The rooms were great! No complaints- always clean. Location was great with the subway being 2-3 blocks away. A Dunkin Donuts is 2 blocks away as is a grocery store. Love this hotel

"Disappointed after a long drive"

2
John R, Arnold, Maryland 22/09/2015

We chose this property because of its location to JFK. We had a morning flight and drove up from Annapolis the night before. Bullet proof glass at check in?? Ok i have never seen that at any hotel I have ever stayed in. Room was as promised with two queen beds but cleanliness was lacking. Bedding, carpet and bathroom all were well worn. Bathroom sink did not drain, We were there for less than 8 hours so we did not have management address it. I feel that housekeeping could have realized it did not drain during the room's last cleaning but chose to ignore the problem. We did notify the front desk at check out in hopes it will be fixed for the next guest. breakfast was also as promised with a number of choices. Unfortunately i would not go back nor can I recommend this property to fellow travelers
