"really nice hotel"
We can really recommend this hotel, the central area and the railway station are within walking distance, the breakfast is fine, you can lock your bikes in the hotel‘s underground garage, the hotel staff is friendly

Dear @alexandersimone2023 Thank you very much for having taken the time to recommend our house. Sure, our breakfast buffet is definitely the best way to start a day in Strasbourg ! We are certified "Accueil Vélo" and therefore propose a safe parking slot for the bikes, as well as some tools and special service if needed. We are looking forward to welcoming you back again soon and remain with best regards, Véronique & Team
"Outstanding Service"
I stayed here twice on a recent trip to Alsace. It seems they are renovating the rooms. On the first stay my room had very old style decor ( though still clean and comfortable). On the second stay it was a very tastefully decorated modern decor. The beds are super comfortable. The hotel is located 5 minutes walk from the main railway station and conveniently close to the center of the city and tourist attractions. The service was truly outstanding. For my second stay I arrived before 1pm from a cycle tour. My room was not ready, but on seeing that I was wet, the woman on reception hunted for a different room and checked me in straight away, without me asking for it. When my luggage arrived from the cycling tour, it was immediately delivered to the room ( the only hotel on a 7 day cycling trip that gave this much appreciated service). I would definitely stay again.

Dear @Gordon766 Thank you so much for reviewing your 2 recent stays at our property. Yes, our 127 year-old house is being constantly renovated ! The decor is different from one room to the other, but the comfort and amenities are the same. Thank you for mentionning the professionalism of our team ! They welcome each and every guest as at home, as we are striving to do all over the decades and generations. We are looking forward to welcoming you back in the future and remain with best regards, Véronique Siegel
"Best hotel in Strasbourg"
This was our third stay at this superb hotel over the last 9 years and we have enjoyed our stay each time. The staff are very welcoming and go to great lengths to ensure you have everything that you need. The rooms are modern and a good size and are very quiet having good windows and a double door. The best part of staying at this hotel are the great buffet breakfasts that are set in a traditionally decorated dining room. Best hotel we have ever stayed at.
Véronique Siegel, Propriétaire at Best Western Plus Monopole Metropole, responded to this review
Dear @dimbledore, Thank you so much for your kind message ! Your loyalty is our greatest reward. You are totally right by mentionning our team, who is definitely the soul of our house. They make every single guests feel like at home in Strasbourg and we do value their commitment too. We are looking forward to greeting you back again in the future and wish you an enjoyable summer. With warmest regards, Véronique Siegel
"Basic, and extremely overpriced "
We unfortunately got locked out of our house late one Tuesday night so had to find a hotel to stay in overnight until we could get a locksmith over the next day. This hotel was the only one in town with a free room when we arrived close to 1 am. The night receptionist was friendly and helpful, as were all the other members of staff we met. However, the room was extortionately overpriced at €250, with an extra €30 for breakfast for 2! This is a historical hotel, which has been extremely tastelessly renovated, and most of its original features and charm have been eradicated. Our room was basic, to say the least. Given the choice between sleeping in the car overnight or this hotel, I would choose this hotel, it's true, but I certainly will never return and would not recommend it to anyone, unless they were desperate, as we were.
Véronique Siegel, Propriétaire at Best Western Plus Monopole Metropole, responded to this review
Hello @snooba, First of all, thank you for mentionning the extraordinary team we have, friendly, helpful an professionnal, at the middle of the night and early morning ! As you probably know, the prices depend on the average occupation and, as mentionned in your review, you had the chance to find an room in our property, as the city was crowded and we just registered a cancellation a couple of hours earlier. The other part of your message is difficult to answer at, as taste and colours are very personnal ! Best regards Véronique Siegel
"Merci!"
Everything was great..i stayed here for one week and the room was big and clean..thanks also to the cleaning and housekeeping staff always nice and friendly. The location is so convenient in front of the main train station and you can easily access all the main attractions either walking or by public transportation since it's near the tram and bus station as well. As for the staff..i want to thank Maria and Sabrina ..both are always cheerful and helpful..they akways took an extra mile to help.. The only comment i would have is reg the breakfast as it hasn't changed the whole week ..same type same variety..would recommend to add different items through the week. Thanks BW team

Dear @Coastal48599478643, Thank you so much for your enthusiastic review ! I'll share it with my great team with pleasure and especially with Mariea and Shabrina. They are all totally dedicated to our guests' well being and do their best to make everyone feel at home. I have well noted your concern regarding the buffet which remains the same everyday, but it's quite an issue also to have some specialities missing on some days because replaced by others, as most of our guests come only for short stays and would like to try everything. We hope to have the pleasure of greeting you back again in the future and remain with best regards, Véronique Siegel
"Wonderful establishment!"
Stayed here 4 days while in Strasbourg. Just steps from the train station and equally as close to all things you will want to explore in the city. Wonderful front desk staff. Good sized room with excellent beds. Nice breakfast if you choose it, but two great bakeries within a block for coffee and pastries. We highly recommend your stay here while in Strasbourg.

Dear @donaldh886, thank you so much for your message and stay and thank you for mentionning our great team. They are all totally committed to our guests' well-being and do a great job every single day to make our guest's stay enjoyable and delightable. Sure our breakfast buffet hot and cold, with lots of local specialities is a hit and good that you have chosen it to start your long day of visit. We hope to have the pleasure of greeting you back again in the future and remain with best regards, Véronique Siegel
"Wonderful stay"
Perfectly located within walking distance to the main tourist centre of Strasbourg, with parking, internet, breakfast offered. Bed was extremely comfortable, and was very fortunate to receive a room with beautiful views. The spa bath was wonderful. Room was very large, with a mix of modern and old style as a perfect fitting to the city. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful and attentive.

"I'll recommend this hotel to my friends"
Location of hotel is great , walking distance to train station , to Centre of Strasbourg ect. Clean , comfortable, nice room . The bed was very good . The bathroom was spacy enough. TV with many channels. Free internet. Coffee and tea in the room . Breakfast was good but not so many items like could be . Staff on reception they all are amazing, welcoming and helpful. We enjoyed our family staying there .

"Wonderful hotel at a reasonable price. "
Wonderful trip in a beautiful hotel. Reasonably priced. Great breakfast buffet. Comfortable beds. Good location close to Christmas market and cathedral about 15 min walk. Bar in hotel. Marie at front desk was outstanding! She mixed us drinks and secured dinner reservations last minute. Great stay!

Dear @D2330JXtammyc, Thank you so much for your enthusiastic review and for your stay. The Christmas market period is definitely a great time to visit Strasbourg, which becomes for 4 weeks a fairy-tale spot. The location of our property is ideal to visit Strasbourg, as everything is walking-distance. Our buffet breakfast offers a possility to start the day on the best foot, and the local ground, as we select different local producers and farmers to allow our guests the possibility of discovering our gastronommy and tradition. Thank you also for mentionning the great job of our team and especially Mariea who is totally committed to our guests. We are looking forward to greeting you back again in the future and remain with warmes regards, Véronique Siegel & Team
"Excellent"
I had a pacious, clean room, perfect bathroom with amazing bathtub, very kind and helpful staff, good location, good breakfast. The only thing that could be slightly improved was the heating of the room.

"Highly recommended"
Nice and quiet rooms (incl kettle), great bathroom. We even had a balcony. Great breakfast buffet. Staff is uber friendly and helpful. If you book parking garage they have a park service. But pretty narrow garage, so check with hotel first. Location is just a quick walk into old town away, some restaurants are close by, so everything was perfect for our one night stay. Would recommend.

"3 day stay in Strasbourg"
I chose this hotel for its close proximity to the Grand Gare train station. All of the hotel staff were friendly and easily accommodated me and my poor French language skills. Out room was on the third floor and was quite spacious and clean. The bed was very comfortable. The only problem we had was in the bathroom. The toilet was a little high to sit down on...just didn't feel right and in the shower it was hard to keep the water in the tub. There was not enough barrier to keep the water in but that is an issue at many places in France. We enjoyed our stay and it was a good base for visiting Strasbourg.
Véronique Siegel, Propriétaire at Best Western Plus Monopole Metropole, responded to this review
Dear @ofallongirl, Thank you so much for your review and stay. I will forward your message with great pleasure to our team ! They are totally committed to our guests every single day and will appreciate your message. Actually, the toilets are quite the regular height we have in France and the bath-screen too. For hygienic and design reasons, we have taken shower curtains away, and have glass screen instead on part of the bath. We thank you again for recommending our property and we remain with best regards, Véronique and team
"Good value in a great location"
We needed a night after a long flight and this was perfect. Close to the train, safe clean and welcoming, with a good bed and shower. The proximity to all the sights of the city, and plenty of places to eat was a bonus. We'll stay again.
Véronique Siegel, Propriétaire at Best Western Plus Monopole Metropole, responded to this review
Dear @DavidMcG1, thank you very much for your message and we are glad that you could find a good rest after your long journey. We hope to see you back again in the future and remain with best regards, Véronique Siegel
"Quaint stop in Straousberg"
We had an unintended train stop because of poor planning to get to Paris. This hotel was quite close to station, and then easy walk to a magnificent town center and the Cathedral. The breakfast was great, letting us sample many different cheeses and go back for more.

"Excelent choice"
Very nice and cosy hotel, slightly out of center but actually 5 minutes walk which is even better for a good night sleep. Staff on the reception is more than nice and ready to help with all needed details. They provide pleasent salle with pool table free of charge and also breakfest which we disn't use. Perfect for a weekend in this beautiful city.

"Location good, Staff superb"
Stayed three nights here (Thursday-Sunday). Location is excellent - a few blocks from the main train station and a few blocks from the city center (Grande Île). The lobby is quite large and has a somewhat eclectic collection of antique items, as well as a bar with lots of seating. There is an elevator, though it's a little small and slow. The room was rather average, but the bed was comfortable, the radiators (heat) worked well, and the shower was hot. Our room was right next to the elevator and I could hear it whenever it was in operation... rather loud, actually. The hotel implements eco-friendly practices, evidenced by the refillable body wash / shampoo bottles and the sign about replacing towels every few days or when you leave them on the floor. There is a small garage on the same street as the hotel and the Staff will open it for you, though there is a daily fee to park (15 Euro, I believe). I did not try the breakfast, so can't comment there. The multilingual Staff were very friendly and courteous. They always said hello and have a nice day; I appreciated this very much! I would have rated this hotel as average, but I give one rating higher due to the wonderful Staff.

We hope to have the pleasure of greeting you back again in the future and remain with best regards, Véronique
"Great location and stay!"
Hotel is located not too far from the train station and a short walk to all the attraction areas. We arrived by car and parking garage is just down the street. The hotel is older but well maintained. The room is excellent and the hotel staff very responsive and super friendly. We asked for slippers and it was brought to our room within 5 mins.

Dear Dutchmongolian, thank you so much for your great review and stay. We hope to see you back again in Strasbourg and remain with best regards, Véronique
"Four star hotel with two star amenities"
We chose this hotel as it was in a good location, had parking and had a four star rating, ensuring we would have a pleasant stay. How wrong I was. On the plus side the reception staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was acceptable. The room was bare and uninviting with plastic chairs giving a rather cheap feel to an already depressing room. We had just had a 12 hour journey from the UK so decided to have room service. We both chose the mushroom risotto and it arrived in a screw top jar! It was absolutely disgusting and we were charged € 31 for the pleasure. We decided not to complain as we were too tired. I then checked out the bathroom which had absolutely no toiletries except a half bottle of body wash. Hubby called reception for some shampoo only to be told to use the body wash. They provide a hairdryer so why no shampoo. There were no slippers or towelling gowns or any of those little niceties that make your stay more comfortable and up to 4 star standard. I would not stay here again.
Véronique Siegel, Propriétaire at Best Western Plus Monopole Metropole, responded to this review
Dear Relax4206646179 You have chosen our property for the location and undergroung parking and I am happy if we have fullfilled these wills, also I forward your compliments to my team with pleasure. We definitely don't provide individual wrapped amenities anymore, because we are ECO-FRIENDLY and fully engaged in a GREEN KEY LABEL CERTIFICATION, as we explain it on every publication, on our e-concierge and guest directory. Our shampoo in the bathroom is a body and hair shampoo, which is ecolabel certified and gentle for body and hair. Caring for environnement is not an option anymore and as citizens and parents, we are fully concerned and committed to reduce the impact of our activity on our planet. You didn't like the room and I am sorry for that, the chairs you mention are deisigned by Starck and complete the style of the room. Tastes and colors are something really personal. I stay at your entire disposal for any further question or help. Don't hesitate to contact me directly veronique.siegel@bw-monopole.com. Best regards,
"Convenient location & helpful staff"
We chose this hotel particularly for its location, its closeness to the train station yet not being too far from the historic center. From here walking to Petite France is within 10 minutes so its location is OK despite being in a less desirable part of the city. The hotel itself lacks charm and rooms are relatively comfortable without offering anything extra to deserve its 4 stars. Breakfast is far from being on the same level with hotels in this category, and the buffet area doesn't inspire confidence in pandemic time (I must say however that they do check your vaccination card/passe sanitaire in french at check in). The front desk staff is helpful and when we asked, did allow us an extra hour at check out. Overall while not a memorable hotel, it does provide a comfortable brief stay to visit the Alsace region.
Véronique Siegel, Propriétaire at Best Western Plus Monopole Metropole, responded to this review
Thank you for your stay and review and good to read that overall, you feel that we have provided a comfortable stay. The location of the hotel is definitely ideal. Easily reachable by train (150 Meters), public transportation and by car, we are still in the city center and close to all major attratctions. The Petite France is only 350 meters away ! The buffet is "covid" ready, with most items individually wrapped, so no need to worry about it. We hope that you had a safe journey back and remain with best regards, Véronique
"My Great Stay at Strausbourg"
I had a great stay at this Best Western. It is an easy walk to the center or old part of the city where the huge Cathedral is. I highly recommend climbing to the top of the steeple. It is an amazing view. The Cathedral is amazing. I also used the hotel as a home base to visit and tour the Alsace Region which is so beautiful. All the towns and villages on the route are beautiful. The wine and food are amazing. The rolling hills and vineyards are beautiful. Unfortunately I was traveling alone since my GF betrayed me but I would think it would be very romantic in this area for happy couples. There are TWO bakeries within about a 1 minute walk of the hotel. NO kidding. The pastries are beautiful and delicious. You need to have many. You don't travel to France often and you can lose the weight when you get home.
Véronique Siegel, Propriétaire at Best Western Plus Monopole Metropole, responded to this review
Dear @Garrett_E, Thank you so much for your great message and for sharing your experience. We are really delighted to read that you have spent such a good time in Strasbourg and visiting Alsace all along. Sure, you will have to come back in the future to live Alsace and Strasbourg on the romantic way. We wish you all the best and hope to see you back again soon ;). Very best regards, Véronique
"True to its solid reputation"
A pleasant hotel, with a real effort in decoration and convenient rooms. The bathrooms are really both nice and practical. Service is good and efficient and the location is convenient midway in walking distance between the train station and the city centre island. The breakfast is decent with fresh juices. Covid-19 practices prevail, which is good, but the lady serving breakfast is a little too dry and nervous about it. Beds could be firmer. Prices are decent for a hotel of this category.
Véronique Siegel, Propriétaire at Best Western Plus Monopole Metropole, responded to this review
Dear @AboudyG, thank you for your message and stay. Good to read that you have enjoyed our decoration (although we had to take some decorations items away according to our very strict covid protocol). The beds are high quality mattresses with a top cover made of memory foam, which gives an impression of smooth and comfort, but still offers a good support. We hope to have the pleasure of greeting you back again soon and remain with best regards, Véronique Siegel& Team
"Great location. "

"A Welcoming Retreat Near Historic City Center"
We have traveled to the BW Monopole Metropole 4 times and have been supremely satisfied with each stay. The location is less than 500 meters from the historic city center with everything in easy walking distance (a boon for my spouse, who uses a cane). The main train station is about 3 blocks away and the neighborhood is quiet, while still being interesting. The hotel is beautiful and charming. However, the best part about this place is the welcoming and helpful staff. Each visit feels like staying with family who can't do enough to make your stay more enjoyable.

"They helped me find my passport back"
I had an excellent experience in this hotel! The room was good, breakfast was good! Everything was great!!! They helped me find my passport back Thank you for helping me get my passport back! I was there for work, if I hadn't found it back, I would have been in a huge problem! "Charming comfortable hotel in great location"
I stayed 2 nights at the Best Western Monopole Metropole in Strasbourg for a visit to the Christmas markets and was totally charmed by this wonderful hotel. The room was large and the bed was comfy, the staff were wonderful, and the location was great. It's situated just across the canal from the historic area, so room prices are reasonable, yet it's a short and easy walk to the cathedral, Petit France, etc. Plus the train station is not more than a 5 minute walk. The hotel's ambience is wonderful. All the modern conveniences with a beautiful breakfast room and an inviting parlor that includes a billiards table. I would definitely choose this hotel for another trip to Strasbourg.

"Charm in a charming city."
First of all the staff. They are amazing! So kind and helpful. They spoke english and were very helpful with directions and suggestions on dining. The lobby bar is staffed by the front desk and offers a variety of cocktails and beer, both on tap and in bottles. The location was fantastic. About 3 or 4 blocks from the train station and another 2 or so to the charming little town, where shops and cafes abound. I felt like I was in a fairytale. The best part about this hotel though was the cleanliness. It was beyond a doubt the cleanest hotel I have ever stayed in. I've been to 38 countries and 40 states and this was byond a doubt the cleanest. The bathroom was impecible. I will definitely recommend this hotel to my friends and clients.

Dear @Mommamariyrita, What a delight to read your message. I forward it to my entire team who deserves your compliments. They are totally committed to make an enjoyable experience out of our guests'stay, everyday. Thank you for mentionning the housekeeping staff, they do a great job under the control of our executive housekeeper and they are sometimes forgotten... the invisible army ! Also, you're right, the location of our property is really ideal, it's even closer than what you mention (1 block from the main city center -Grande Ile and 2 from th e train station), which allows a perfect pedestrian visit of Strasbourg the magic city. Strasbourg is nice and worth a visit all year long, but in December it's like you describe it, as in a fairytale. The Christmas decorations and lightings together with the smells and tastes of the Christmas markets make it really exceptionnal. Again thank you so much for your recommendation and we hope to see you back again soon. Warmest regards, Véronique Siegel, CEO
"Great location and helpful staff"
We arrived at our hotel and unfortunately our luggage didn't arrive with us. The staff let us borrow cell phone chargers until ours arrived. A great location to the train station (5 minute walk).I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

"A well run family hotel"
The Location of the Hotel is excellent. Not far away from the centre of town, very near the main station. Garage for car available. Personal very effective and obliging but not intrusive. Very little turnover in staff. I can only recommend it!

"Very nice hotel"
The location of the hotel is very good. It is close to the train station and a short walk takes you to the “ Little Venice” and the amazing Cathedral Square. The reception area and the bar are beautiful, the furniture and decoration are lovely. There is another common place very nice too. The breakfast place is comfortable and nice. The breakfast is excellent with many choices and hight quality. Our room was fine. It was big enough and its bathroom was nice too. Just a small thing: I would suggest putting a heating corp inside the bath so it would be dryer. The room offered nice toiletries which was very pleasant. The service was fantastic. The ladies from the reception were super friendly and gentle. They made us feel very welcomed. The cleaning ladies and personal in the breakfast were very kind and efficient too. We needed to park our car so we used the parking place offered for the hotel. Parking the car was not and easy task since the space was narrow. Everything together we were very satisfied and won't hesitate reserving this beautiful hotel again next time we visit Strasbourg ( I wish we can visit such a lovely city again!)

"A true disappointment"
We chose this 4-star hotel after reading what other guests had written about this hotel. We also checked the location and pictures of the hotel. We had asked for a quiet room. The room was small and dark towards a narrow courtyard. The small windows were high up, you had no view. The toilet and bathroom were seperated so after using the toilet you had to go through the room to get to the bathroom to wash your hands. The room was quiet until around 6 o`clock in the morning. Then the staff gathered in the yard chatting loudly before starting work. The breakfast was good, the WiFi worked perfect, large TV-screen with many channels, refrigerator in the room. OK location just by the trainstation. When we complained about the room´s standard at checking out we were told we should have complained immediately. We got 15% discount. We were surprised that they offered this room to a customer, it should be used in an emergency situation when the hotel is full.
VeroniqueSiegel, Gérant at Best Western Plus Monopole Metropole, responded to this review
Dear Ingrid49_12, Thank you for your comment following your recent stay with us. We have well noted the points that you didn't like. Separate toilets, room facing a courtyard (although you asked for a quiet room), people talking outside (not our staff at 6.00am though, they start later) etc... However, when you complained, during the check-out, there is not a lot we can do to satisfy your wishes. That's why we said that you should have let us know earlier that you didn't like your room. When we still have availability, we can propose you to change for a room that would suit you better. Anyway, I'm not sure we would have been able to do something that would have satisfy you..... You forgot to mention that upon check-in you also complained, among different things, about the train tickets and the street names being wrotten only in french and not in english... That's being said, we stay at your disposal and remain with kindest regards,.
"Wonderful "
From arrival to departure. This hotel is good. Room was very good a shower small but ok bathroom Bed very nice. Tea and coffee machine in the room The let down for me was breakfast it was a bit like word war 3 One poor lady clearing tables and trying to put out the food. No scrambled egg or bacon. No milk. I took the container in to the kitchen and was told I can not come in I do like this hotel and will still stay there I just was an off day
VeroniqueSiegel, Directeur général at Best Western Plus Monopole Metropole, responded to this review
Dear @johnbn12, Thank you very much for your message and stay, The lady at breakfast was not supposed to be alone on that day, but 1 person was late and the other didn't show up. Please accept our apologies for having taken more time than usual to refresh the buffet with the scrambled eggs and bacon. Milk is always availbable, warm through the machine and cold on the fresh part of the buffet. We are looking forward to greeting you back again and hope that you will enjoy the breakfast that time. with best regards, Véronique
"Fabulous Hotel"
This was one of if not our favorite hotel during our 3 week trek in Europe. It is a family owned and they take such pride in their hotel. Always very helpful and friendly. Highly, highly recommend this BW.

"Terrific hotel"
This hotel was beautifully decorated with art and artifacts of the local history. The staff was extremely helpful and the breakfast was delicious! I appreciated the morning news print out of U.S. news and brought home some lollipops from the bar for my grandson.
VeroniqueSiegel, Directeur général at Best Western Plus Monopole Metropole, responded to this review
Dear @Trail50001716611, Thank you so much for your message and stay. Maybe your grandson might want to visit Europe just to taste the lollipops :). We wish you all the best and hope to have the pleasure of greeting you back again with him ! Warmest wishes, Véronique & Team
"Friendly And Restful"
This hotel is close to the station but far enough away that you can't hear the trains. I asked for a quiet room and they really delivered: room 415 was on the top floor and overlooking the inner courtyard and I slept like a baby. Also it was spacious, well-equipped (the fridge was handy and didn't make noise in the night), and had one of the best showers I've seen anywhere. The staff were really friendly and the reception staff kindly spoke English with me. I didn't use the billiard lounge but enjoyed walking through it on my way to breakfast each morning, which was really good with a great deal of choice and excellent gluten-free rolls on request, served warm. This was my first time in Strasbourg and if I visit again I'd gladly stay here again.

"Location, location, location. This place has it."
If you travel by train to or from Strasbourg and wish to visit the old downtown, then this is the hotel for you. This is an older hotel which fits very well within Strasbourg. The room is adequately sized with a modern bathroom. What is pleasant is being able to control the air conditioning which is much appreciated during the summer months. It is among the better location when visiting Strasbourg as it is walking distance from the train station, car rental and the parts of Petite-France (Little France) island that you do not want to miss. The hotel is quiet, very clean and offers all the usual amenities. The staff is friendly, helpful and courteous. They offer a very good buffet-style breakfast. We would likely stay at this location during future visits to Strasbourg. If you are wondering why the overall rating of 4 stars instead of 5, it is because we are comparing to other properties, including the Best Western Donjon in Carcassonne and other placed we stayed during our trip. If you are undecided with your choice of hotels in Strasbourg, you should give this hotel a try.

"A restful one night stand"
We were driving from Frankfurt to Carcassonne and picked Strasbourg as a stopping point..as we were driving I made reservations online.. as we arrived the reservations disappeared..being very, VERY tired we asked/whined if there was anyway there were rooms available (3 total).. Pablo was calm and accommodating and gracious, he found us rooms quickly, gave us water and directions to the fireworks! Vera was funny and considerate and knowledgeable about the area..she answered patiently the bajillion questions all us näive Americans had to ask! Although we didn't really interact with any other staff I am sure they are just as FABULOUS! Thanks for a great night!!

Dear @Ragan_S, Thank you so much for your great review and for your stay. I will forward your message to Pablo (our intern who learns very quickly from Vera and the other team members :)). "Convenient, clean and comfortable"
Conveniently located close to the train station and within walking distance of the city center, we got upgraded to a better room. Very clean and very quiet. Great sleep! Front desk was also very efficient. A good stay!

"Great location, friendly staff, room small"
The hotel is very conveniently located, close to the train station and the city centre, but if you don't like sharing space with animals, don't visit this hotel. When I arrived in my room, there was a dog bed sitting on top of the bed. I don't wish to stay in a room that has housed animals so was not very pleased. Bed was comfortable, but the room was smallish and there isn't a lot of space to leave things. Put my suitcase on top of the “wardrobe”, which had obviously not been cleaned for some time as it was covered in dust when I got it back down. The room did have a safe, which was much appreciated. The staff were friendly, but it didn't make up for the less than 4 star set up.

Dear @JaneD1000, Thank you for your message and stay. Yes, pets are most welcome in our poperty. I stay at your entire disposal for any help or question and wish you a nice summer, Véronique Siegel
"Fabulous!"
Fabulous location near le petit France and the cathedral. The hotel staff was super friendly. We hired a bike for an amazing cheap price in the hotel. The beds were superb and big and you could hear no other guests while we were there in high season. Supermarket and shops plus Le petit France etc all in walking distance. We will come again!!

"Our second stay in this super hotel"
We, 3 ladies from South Africa, stayed in the hotel for 24 and 25 June 2019. We really enjoyed every minute of our stay. The location near the train station and also the short walk to the central area of Strasbourg suited us perfectly. The reception staff was very friendly and accommodating, making us feel welcome and at home!!! We had a lovely clean room with aircon which was very nice seeing it was extremely hot!! I can really recommend the hotel to anyone visiting Strasbourg. Should I visit Strasbourg again it will be my first choice for accommodation. We have sweet memories of our stay in the hotel.

Dear Almerie f, Thank you very much for your kind email. We are delighted to read that you have some sweet memories from your recent stay with us. We would be very happy to welcome you again for your next stay in our lovely city. Kindest regards,
"Pfff"
It's OK located, and with own parking. But everything is very small for European standards, it looks more like a Tokyo hotel... Small lobby, small rooms -although very silent which is good-. Compared to the bedroom, the bathroom are far too huge, they could have used more space for the bedroom. In room food service is absolutely horrible, never had such a bad meal in years. For such a night price I expect a lot more!!! Choose something cosier unless you come, sleep and leave right away.
VeroniqueSiegel, Gérant at Best Western Plus Monopole Metropole, responded to this review
Dear Joe_Black72, Thank you for your comments following your recent stay with us. I'm sorry that you didn't enjoy your experience as much as you should have. Our room size are in the french standards, and reading your description, you must have chosen a comfort room. For your next stay, don't hesitate to ask for an executive or deluxe room if you prefer larger rooms. Regarding the room service, there are several meal to choose from. We also have many restaurants just a short walk away. Our reception staff will be more than happy to assist you in your choice. Kindest regards
"Some valuable tips for US visitors"
We just spent three nights at this affordable, clean and well located hotel. It is especially close to the train station. But as there are many reviews let me share some tipS you might find valuable. WALKING From the station. Exit the train station and look across the street for Le Grand Hotel. Cross over to the hotel and take the street to the left of the front doors. It's two short blocks to the hotel. BREAKFAST. We did not take the breakfast. There are so many places nearby. For great baguettes and croissants, exit the hotel, walk up the street towards the canal. The boulangerie is right on the corner. Two short blocks. MARKET. Find Grand Rue as you walk towards the cathedral. There is a U Market two or three blocks up. Very good selection of everything. Rooms have small fridges. FREE DRINKS. Sign up for the Best Western Rewards program. It saved us a little on the room. But they also gave us coupons for free welcome drinks. Otherwise great hotel. Rooms are small. But free pool table. IF MY TIPS ARE HELPFUL! Would you please give me a helpful vote. I don't know that it matters but one day it may. SO, thanks.
VeroniqueSiegel, Directeur général at Best Western Plus Monopole Metropole, responded to this review
Dear @JesseSlome Thank you for your message and the tips given to US travellers. Let me just add a short one. Our full breakfast buffet, with fresh baguette from the bakery, is only 13 €, where you will pay over 5 euros for just a coffee and baguette around the corner. We offer 3 sorts of local alsatian pastries (fresh from the baker), french viennoiseries (also fresh from the baker), local alsatian deli, french cheeses, choucroute, eggs, bacon, Strasbourg sausage, fish, cereals, fresh fruits, fresh fruit salad, quark, pancakes or soup.... You should maybe have tried it and I would highly recommend you to come back and try :) ! Looking forward to greeting you again, I am at your entire disposal and wish you a great summertime, Véronique Siegel
"great choice in Strasbourg"
Very close to the center of town. They have a lift, offer parking and have ac plus Wifi.. They are just across the river from the heart of town. Rooms are clean and fair sized. Staff is very helpful and speaks english. .

"Good for a weekend stay"
I stayed 2 nights at the Plus Metropole and it's comfortable enough for a weekend getaway. Pros: Great location, lots of eating places close and walking distance to the train station Also walkable to La Petite France neighbourhood and the Cathedrale. Staff such as Claudine, Francois, Connie and Pablo are all very kind and helpful. Cons: They charge EUROS 20 for an extra hour for a late check out Limited toiletries in the bathroom, but to be fair they are trying to eco-friendly
VeroniqueSiegel, Directeur général at Best Western Plus Monopole Metropole, responded to this review
Dear @STho, Thank you for your message and stay and we are happy to read that you were satisfied with the location, comfort and service. The 20 euros fee is for a late check-out at 2 pm, which is a 2 hours late check-out as we do offer a regular check-out until 12 noon. Yes, the individual wrapped toiletries are limited, to reduce the impact of our activity on the climate. Although, you can ask for any additional product free of charge at the front desk if needed. We hope to have the pleasure of greeting you back again and we remain with best regards, Véronique
"Great Hotel - Good location"
The hotel is located in walking distance from the central rail station. Reception staff were very good and nothing was an issue. Rooms are adequate and have great bathrooms. Walking distance to most places makes it a very good location. Beds very comfortable and overall good value for money.

"Good location, Comfortable room"
Less than 5 minutes from the railway station and a similar distance from a bridge leading to the Old Town of Strasbourg, this hotel is very convenient . The room was modern , bed comfy, wifi, tea and coffee making and small minibar. The first room we were given was on the first floor (124) and seemed very dark, but it was no problem for them to give us a different room (324) and the extra elevation improved the general lightness and feel of the room. Both these rooms faced inwards to courtyard area ( not my favourite !). The reception staff were extremely pleasant and friendly, and nothing was too much trouble for them. The public areas/ lounges around the reception area were very pleasant. We enjoyed breakfast there each morning. We were happy with our choice of hotel in Strasbourg !

"Good location 10 min.walk from Old Town."
The hotel is very conveniently located ,between main train station and place with trams stops. You can leave your car in the underground garage(you've to make the reservation ,15 € per night). The garage is very narrow ,so here is valet parking. You can safely leave your car there and move around using public transport. You can buy rechargeable CTS ticket for all trams, buses for 2 persons valid 3 days and pay 6 € at the local Tabac shop. Wi-Fi is free of charge not secure line, good quality.Basic breakfast ,it could be better for a 4 star hotel. We expected more local produce for instance a variety of perfect Alsace cheeses. The room was clean and spacious with coffee maker. The women receptionists are exceptionally helpful and friendly.
VeroniqueSiegel, Directeur général at Best Western Plus Monopole Metropole, responded to this review
Dear @HIT_1, Thank you very much for your message and stay. Happy to read that we met your expecations for wifi, comfort, garage and location. The buffet breakasts provides 3 sorts of Alsatian pastries and 8 sorts of cheeses. The only really interesting Alsace cheese is Munster and the few others are nothing special, that's why we prefer offering the most popular french cheeses, like Brie, Reblochon, Roquefort, Comté and some goat and sheep cheese. We hope to have the pleasure of greeting you back again in the future and wish you a delightful springtime. Best regards, Véronique
"Nice, modern hotel, short walk from train station"
We were pleased with our stay here. The room looked recently remodeled with a large modern art painting over the bed. The toilet was in a separate room from the shower, both spotlessly clean with new fixtures. Wi-fi was okay, there was a safe in the room and a kettle with a supply of teas and coffee. TV was mostly French channels but they did have CNN in English. Location is pretty much the center of town with restaurants nearby. Breakfast was included in our price and is served starting at 7 in the large dining room off the lobby. Scrambled eggs, bacon, sliced meats and cheeses, yogurt with mix-ins, breads, croissants, and cereals. A coffee/cappuccino machine is open to use. They keep some snacks available in the lobby if you get the munchies. Elevator is pretty small, but works well.
VeroniqueSiegel, Directeur général at Best Western Plus Monopole Metropole, responded to this review
Hello @snapngo, Thank you very much for your long and great review. Right, lots of TV channels are in french, but we also provide german, italian, spanish, russian and of course english speaking channels! The location of our property is probably its greatest advantage, as it's walkable to every interesting sites of Strasbourg, but still easily reachable by plane (with train shuttle), by train (200 meters) and by car ! We hope to have the pleasure of greeting you back again in the future and remain with best regards,
"Great find"
Great location just down the street from the train station, quiet and close to Little France. Ten minute walk to the Cathedral and restaurant s. The staff was friendly and extremely helpful. This hotel is a definite do over for us.

"Satisfying stay"
The hotel itself is nothing special, but the ladies at the reception were amazing. They were definitely the hotel's best asset. We were treated with hospitality and efficiency. We booked the garage and it proved to be a wise idea, as the street parking is unreliable and the nearest public garage is two blocks away (10 minutes by foot). The hotel garage costs 15 euro per day, which is pretty reasonable. However, the garage is under the building further along the street. That means you have to go out of the hotel and walk some 100 meters to the garage. The location itself is not too bad, as it takes less than 5 minutes to reach the bridge leading across the river into the old town. The breakfast at an extra of 13 euros was extremely disappointing. This is definitely something that should be improved in terms of quality, variety and service. The waiter at the breakfast room was not attentive and looked bored to the highest degree. In contrast to the parlour next to the reception, which was wonderful and charming, our room #115 was lacking energy. It had all essentials, comfortable beds and a spacious bathroom, yet the room was somewhat unremarkable, considering the price of 429 euros for two nights without breakfast. The elevator is certainly in need of replacement... All in all, satisfying experience, but I would rate this hotel at 3+ stars, not 4
VeroniqueSiegel, Directeur général at Best Western Plus Monopole Metropole, responded to this review
Dear @elena076, Thank you for your message and I am sorry to read that we were not able to exceed your expectations. "Good service"
This hotel was well positioned for inter-railers being a short 5 minute walk from the station. The hotel itself was nothing special, but the service proved to be very friendly and helpful. Not only were they happy to describe the best things to see in the city, but they were keen to outline where they could assist with discounts. The rooms were nothing memorable, but were clean enough and the hotel was very good value. Breakfast was a bot disorganised with a few dishes being out of stock.

"Nice stay in Strasbourg"
The Best Western Plus Monopole Metropole is conveniently located a short walk from the train station. The staff were friendly and welcoming and helpful with our few requests and questions. Room was not especially large, but was adequate and recently updated in a pleasant, modern style. There are amenities such as bakeries, supermarkets, and good restaurants located within easy walking distance from the hotel. The hotel is also ideally located for exploring the Christmas markets in the Petite France area (but all others in Strasbourg are also within reasonable walking distance). Overall good value and a pleasant stay. Recommended.

Dear @AdaminCanada, Thank you for your stay and for recommending our property and we are always happy to read messages like yours. "Excellent modern hotel, great location, great service"
After staying at a five star expensive hotel in Frankfurt with quite appalling customer service, this hotel was a very welcomed experience! There is a blonde lady, I think her name is Monique who is on duty in the morning and she has to be one of the best customer service people I've ever come across. A lot of hotels do not provide good customer service no matter how expensive they are. She was the only person on duty and was trying her hardest to serve me and some customers before me at the same time. She was very friendly, pleasant and courteous and I loved how methodical her approach was. She gave me my keys, explained everything without me needing to ask, like WiFi, breakfast, and even took out a city map showing me where the hotel was and where all the key places are. You cannot fault this place for service. The lady on the evening shift is also very nice and just settled my bill without any issues. All those hotels and five star hotels (look at my most recent review of the Steinberger Hof in Frankfurt who provided awful service), they need to come here and take a leaf out of their book. The room I got was great. On the fifth floor, so quiet and the room was brand new. It would be good if the toilet was inside the bathroom because if I could take one bad point it would be that it took up too much space and I wanted a larger room and felt it was a little crammed for a normal 25sqm room. Normally a room that size would be spacious because the toilet is inside the bathroom. Great location and very close to the train station as well as the historical city centre. I would stay here again for sure.

"Terrible Service, False Advertising"
We selected this hotel for the last night of our 10 day stay in France. Huge mistake. The hotel advertises parking by the bellman, Upon arrival I was told that no parking was available even though I showed the desk person where I had requested parking as advised. Too bad, we can point you to a public garage 6 blocks away. Parking and a bellman were the only reason I selected this hotel. There are much better properties in Strasbourg. Hotel quality is very worn. The only elevator makes a very loud clunk and shakes violently when it moves. The room is 1 foot wider on each side and 2 feet longer than the bed. I have already stayed at another hotel in Strasbourg, the Hotel Gutenberg which has much larger and more luxurious rooms than this dump. Overall the Sheraton: poor hotel poor value and abhorrent service.
VeroniqueSiegel, Directeur général at Best Western Plus Monopole Metropole, responded to this review
If the title of your review is False advertising, the title of my answer should be “Lies” or at least “Oblivion”. You said that you booked a garage and a large room…. But you didn't ! Or precisely, you did book an executive room with parking garage for December 9th before cancelling it and rebooking a comfort (the smallest category) room, WITHOUT garage for December 2nd. When you checked-in and asked for the parking, we very kindly explained you the way to a public parking lot 2 blocks (not 6) away from the hotel, as our private one was fully booked. Then, you became rude and aggressive, as you didn't want to accept the situation. But no one is able to deliver something he doesn't have anymore without aiming to disappoint another guest who actually did reserve and who is looking forward to having his car parked by our bellman and who has the right to require a service he did reserve ! I prefer to think that you forgot having made 2 totally different reservations before cancelling the one for the executive room (larger than the comfort one) and with parkgin, which would most likely have met your expectations. So I am just really sorry for you, as I feel this is a huge misunderstanding and I am terribly sad for us, as your review isn't reflecting the service, concern and comfort we aim to offer to our guests every single day. Véronique Siegel
"impressed with " The Best Western Brand ", great location as well"
we stayed at this Best Western for three nights....since check - in time is 3:00 PM the Bellman on duty checked our Language and parked our car ( there is a charge ) go for it, it makes life so much easier. We checked in at the reception with charming " Claudine ", she was very helpful throughout our stay and was our point person. Other staff- members were very friendly and counties as well. We like to deal with one person when staying at a Hotel and we found Claudine who managed every request we had to our satisfaction. JOB well done !! She suggested to drive to " Obernai " and check out this Village... we enjoyed it. The BW is just one block away from the Train Station and a short walk to the star attraction " Petite France ".. we found the location of the BW very convenient. We were accommodated in room No. 302... it is a nice, modern decorated clean room... Maid Service throughout our stay was excellent. The room has a high ceiling, There are two - twin - beds pushed together, clean white bed-linen , we slept good here, good lighting, a large TV by Phillips ( flat screen ), a desk, a coffee-maker , a Mini Bar, the rooms has a balcony with a blooming flower box, nice touch. There is good closet space, an in-room safe, an Ironing board with an Iron, ( in the closet ) . The Bathroom is rather small, but clean with white towels, has a shower , hairdryer W/C , . The Breakfast Room is large, and offers plenty of food. Fresh Fruit, Cold Cuts, cheeses, fish, yogurt, juices, cereal, eggs, you brew your own coffee ( I like that ) Espresso /Cappuccino.. there are assorted cakes, croissants ...in other words plenty to eat. Upon departure, " Claudine " arranged that our car was brought to the entrance of the Hotel and we had help to load our bags into the car, just great Service all around... We defiantly recommend staying here.

Just left a BW in Paris and what a welcome relief checking in here!! Staff at front desk very cordial and welcoming. Explained all amenities and provided map and directions to sites. Ask a few more questions while here and always friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good and hit the spot. Room very clean and comfortable. A nice walk to other sites and safe. I enjoyed the stay here very much and definitely would stay again. Walking distance to train and cathedral square. Strasbourg was really nice town and welcome relief after Paris.

Strasbourg is definitely a must see for a trip to France and we strive to offer the most authentic alsatian experience to our guests. We hope to see you back and remain with best regards, Véronique Siegel
"Very nice BW close to old town and train station."
We stayed here several years ago and were happy to be back. Receptionist at check in was very helpful. Room was very nice and a good size. Bathroom also a good size with plenty counter space. Very nice corner shower but with no door so floor got a little wet but no big deal. Bed was very comfortable too. Only 1 TV channel in English, CNN, but we didn't spend a lot of time in the room anyway. Hotel car park was full but we got a space in the Wodli parking garage a short walk away. The weekend cost for parking was 18 euros from Friday afternoon till Monday morning. Ticket machines to pay for parking we're on the 2nd floor on the far side. Breakfast in the hotel was very good with hot and cold options and a good variety. Strasbourg is a beautiful walkable city and this BW was in a quiet area just a short stroll from the river. Would definitely recommend.

"Perfect location "
Spent three nights here to see/explore Strasbourg. Underground secure car parking very useful as we could leave baggage in the car and know it was safe. Staff very friendly and helpful. Assisted us in orientation of the town. Didn't eat here as there were so many good restaurants in the town within easy walking distance. Comfortable clean basic room with air conditioning, bathroom/separate toilet. 3 min walk to cross bridge into old town, therefore a perfect location for sightseeing.

"Great hotel, fab location, excellent staff"
We visited the Monopole for one night with family. Very impressed! Location is superb for sight-seeing in this magnificent city. Welcome from the hotel staff was faultless - including help with luggage & valet parking. Friendly, efficient & helpful staff. rooms are modern & well equipped. Comfortable with excellent shower. Buffet breakfast was first class. Delighted with this hotel & would certainly use again. Highly recommended.

"A comfortable and well-located hotel to discover Strasbourg"
The hotel is very well located. Close to the train station, within 10-min walk to the lively Petite France but at the same time at very quiet location. We had an executive room which was spacious and nice. It is also very convenient that the hotel offers parking (at a cost) which is difficult to find in downtown Strasbourg.
VeroniqueSiegel, Directeur général at Best Western Plus Monopole Metropole, responded to this review
Dear @LaYayita, Thank you very much for your review and stay. You are totally right, parking in Strasbourg can be quite complicated and expensive. Our private underground garage, is really safe and convenient (daily rate 15 euros). It's always preferrable to book it in advance, together with the room, to ensure availability. We hope to have the pleasure of greeting you back again ! Best regards, Véronique Siegel
"Average Hotel in Strassbourg"
Average hotel because some services should be improved:-no coffee or tea in the room in second day-no soap on bathroom on second day-a lot of noises could be heard from our room-even I requested a quiet room I received a room near fitness room even I booked earlier-on check-in even we came at midnight we were asked to wait 5-10 min because another guest who came after us and was already checked-in needs to be served first in a small matter.

"Loved it!"
Th hotel is centrally located with easy access to the main train station and old town. The room we stayed in felt new with plush carpet, cosy bed and modern shower room. The air con was much appreciated after sight-seeing in 37 degrees! Staff were all very friendly, especially Louis who we chatted to in the bar each evening. Overall an excellent stay and a hotel that I'd highly recommend.
"A great stay"
Our family of 3 stayed here for 2 nights and the set-up was perfect for us. The hotel was easy to find from the train station and walking distance to everything we needed. Our room was a good size with a sofa pull-out bed for our daughter. The hotel is an old building but it's been renovated and rooms are very clean and modern. We'd happily stay there again!

"Vera Rules! Thank you!"
If you know what Old School service means in terms of European hospitality you will appreciate staying here. The multilingual staff are professionals through and through. For example when we arrived we found that out travel luggage lock was jammed and we could not access our belongings. One trip to the front desk, where Vera was waiting to help, quelled any worry. She said "I can take care of that for you" in a manner that spoke of true confidence and professionalism. She had a guy on site immediately who promptly removed the lock and therefore our problem. The hotel is in an excellent location within walking distance of many great experiences. When we come back we will stay here again for sure.

"Great hotel"
Turned up with no reservation. Lovely lady on reception gave me a great room rate including breakfast. Very helpful on reception gave us a map and tips etc. The room was new and fresh, very clean and comfortable. 100% recommend. All in walking distance to everything. Thanks for a lovely stay.

"Excellent hotel in a great location "
Stayed here for two nights and it was great. The location was brilliant - so close to the town centre, a tram stop and La Petite France. There are also several restaurants nearby and we went to two that were recommended by reception. The valet parking was efficient and it was nice to know my car was safe. The room was small but had a comfortable bed with a big picture of grapes on the wall above. The décor was lovely with green matching curtains, pillows and bed runner. There were 2 chairs, a wardrobe and a very nice bathroom. The bath was a good size but very high so not easy to get into. Plus the shower leaked onto the floor. However there was lots of space for putting wash bags on shelves and nice towels. The toiletries were very nice. The public rooms were lovely including the bar and the billiard lounge. The lift clonked a bit but worked OK. The corridors had display cabinets with models in them. We did not have breakfast there. The staff were very friendly and helpful and spoke good English. The lady who checked us out allowed me to practice my French. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend the hotel to others.

"Okay for our stay"
We stayed here for 3 nights. We had a quiet room on the fourth floor. This hotel is quite close to the main railway station. The lady who checked us in was friendly and very helpful. You can walk to the cathedral in about 15 minutes. We did not have a car, and we didn't eat breakfast at the hotel. The breakfast costs 13 euros. The golden delicious apples and pears at the front desk were not high quality. I would serve cookies, if you can't afford to serve better fruit. The water pitcher was infused with different fruit daily. We noticed the rooms with the library and the pool table. A large tour bus was always parked outside the hotel. The bath tub is very slippery. The bed was hardish, and came with an assortment of pillows. The room decor is old fashioned, and I am not a big fan of red bedrooms and older carpet on the floor, to be honest. The bathroom was a nice size and had a high tub with a good shower. The wifi worked. It was nice to have a computer desk. We did ok, just not my favourite.

"Wonderful All Around Value!"
Couldn't find a negative thing to say about this place. Inviting old world style public areas including bar area and areas to relax including a library and billiards room that was decorated as if in someone's classy old home. Outstanding breakfast dining room and food offerings. Very friendly front desk help. Same for breakfast staff who work hard. Garage parking. They will drive your car down for you and get it should you have a bigger vehicle or are not good at maneuvering in Europe's traditionally smaller parking facilities. Please tip nicely if you go this route and have the friendly staff take your bags up.

"Good value and service - worth a visit"
Only stayed the one night after a bl**dy horrible journey from Languedoc via Colmar with a car weighed down with wine. We'd booked a secure (garage) parking in advance (becos I trust no one!). The outside of the hotel is not somewhere that you can stop realistically (unless you're French) for any longer than a few seconds, but I sent in an advance party to announce our arrival. A pleasant chap emerged with a view to escorting me to the underground garage (about 30yds away) but upon seeing how low the car was (wine) advised that it might be a little on the tight side so far as clearance was concerned as he didn't want me to ground the couture - neither did I! Anyway, we proceeded as I was too tired to care too much. The garage is underground and is not only accessed via a fairly steep and initially angled driveway but is narrow in the extreme. Albeit a little gingerly I made it and parked successfully only now thinking whether I'd be able to get out next day. Anyway, all was well and I departed successfully after a hearty breakfast the next morning even if it was something akin to a cork from a bottle of red nectar. I'd happily recommend this hotel, the staff were attentive and pleasant and the location very good to the city centre - only a short walk. The sleep quality would've been fine I'm sure but for the fact that France had just got through to the semis and locals were still celebrating until 5 am right under our window it seemed......

Dear Cmonyawns, Thank you for your kind review following your recent stay with us. We are delighted to see that you had a nice experience with us despite a hard day before and some "celebration noise" at night. We hope having the pleasure of welcoming you again in the future. Kindest regards,
"Six circles would be more accurate!"
The room--comfortable, very clean and neat, plenty of space with a table and sitting area, even with our suit cases spread out, great bathroom and shower, and all the amenities including AC, hair dryer, TV, coffee maker, iron, and minibar/frig. The bed was perfect for sleeping. We enjoyed the 4th floor room, quiet even being near the small lift, and the wonderful view of the street below. The room alone would make this hotel outstanding. The staff--Above and beyond helpful and supportive. I have actually found Best Western hotels in France to have superb staff who make my visit even more wonderful. I will be always grateful to the staff here for their assistance, especially upon our (very late)arrival. They are friendly, they are very good speaking English and very patient when I want to speak my limited French. And, every afternoon, there were fresh pretzels available for a snack! Breakfast provided a very large selection of choices from fruit to breads, cheeses, eggs, and meat, juices, cereals, coffee and tea, and more. Be sure to try some of the local Alsatian breakfast specialties. And take your time with breakfast since there is so much to enjoy! The building--It is a historic building and a small museum! I am so glad that we stayed four nights because it wasn't until the third evening that I really started looking around the hotel. It is worth taking some time just to see the displays spread around the hotel. Location--Seemed absolutely perfect to me. The hotel is a short walk from the train station, a Monoprix, the Europcar rental station, a large shopping mall, a tram stop, lots of great restaurants both fancy and relaxed, and the old town and island full of historic sites. We weren't planning on having a car, but our late arrival meant we needed a parking spot. The hotel does have a dedicated parking garage and the staff was wonderfully helpful getting me in and out!

"Comfortable, Central and excellent value for money"
The hotel is located within a few minutes of the main train station. Petite France and the Notre Dame Cathedral are a short walk away. The reception staff were extremely helpful and had upgraded my room and spent time with me discussing the best places to see. My room was clean and comfortable, with all the amenities I would expect including coffee maker, iron, television, digital safe, hairdryer and minibar. Sadly I did not get time to try the breakfast. I would definitely stay here again as it represents very good value for money in a good location for sightseeing.

"Marvellous at the Monopole Metropole !"
Just a five minute walk from the train station, we found this hotel to be an ideal base from which to explore the city. The bedrooms were spacious and stylishly decorated, while the public rooms had a more traditional feel. The reception staff were exceptional, cheerfully providing information about the hotel's facilities together with useful advice for seeing the city's highlights. Highly recommended for a city break !!

"Helpful and convenient"
This hotel is just two blocks from the old town. On-street parking is a challenge but one of the staff led us to their indoor parking half a block away. Our van only just fit through the garage entrance but we had a nice big parking stall once inside. The reception personnel were very pleasant and helped us get oriented. The room was clean and comfortable, and a good base from which to explore the fascinating old Town of Strasbourg.

"Wonderful"
I'm afraid I just might get carried away reviewing this. Excellent welcoming receptionist lady who talked us through everything in this our first visit to Strasbourg. Our expectations of our room were exceeded and we were genuinely surprised at its size and decor. We asked for a bath and a high floor in advance and got both.We never saw the cleaning staff as we were late sleepers each day but we were never disturbed and returned to a spotless room each evening, hopefully someone will pass on our thanks! Probably the best air conditioning we have ever experienced in Europe, and that is important to us.I could go on,I'm sorry I never played on the small billiard table in the charming rest room. They hire about town bikes which I was shown despite no commitment from me to hire one, maybe next time. We will be back.

I was on a long official trip in Strasbourg and Molsheim and I had to stay here for 2 weeks. The stay was very comfortable with nice warm, clean, comfortable, cozy rooms. The weather was bad, but as soon as you come back, it felt like home. There was parking available and we had a nice stay. Thank you team Best Western.

"Happy"
We were happy with our choice. We needed two family rooms (2 adults and 1 child per room). The rooms were on the first floor facing the inner court. They were extremely quiet and we could make them very dark, which we like. It was spacious and the bed was good. We did not take the breakfast because we saw a lovely place in the center we really wanted to go to. The location was perfect for the airport and for walking to the center. The lady at the front desk was extremely nice and very helpful.

"Good Enough but No Plus"
I always thought Best Western Plus meant breakfast included - apparently not so unless you pay an additional 13€ each person - yikes that is a bit steep. Location is walking distance to the train station at 10 minutes. The old town (Little Paris) a 10 minute walk and the cathedral area about 20 minutes to walk. Front staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful including having English. The chambermaid was very good - everything was very clean and smart. Rooms - well we ended up with a mobility room so the shower/toilet was just one big area - wet as well. Bedding, beds, pillows were very comfy. Room had a safe, free wifi and a fridge (again prices too high to encourage a guest actually buying something - my pet peeve). Prices to stay here are cheaper on sites such as Booking.com which is too bad as I prefer to support the hotel itself. The price overall is at the high end for the level of hotel without breakfast b The downstairs sitting area/parlour has s small poo table and many weirdly matched sitting chairs (orange & white, white & orange). Looks like an old folks home.
VeroniqueSiegel, Directeur général at Best Western Plus Monopole Metropole, responded to this review
Dear @Hosta_La_Vista, Thank you for your message and stay. No, Plus doesn't mean breakfast included and I am sorry if you thought so and were disappointed, although 13 euros for our hot buffet breakfast with lots of choice is not expensive. Regarding the online reservations, sure, there are always better deals by booking directly with us or through Best Western. And I am truly sorry if our brand new orange and beige sofas don't meet your tastes. Colours are really very personal... I hope we will have the pleasure of greeting you back in Strasbourg and Alsace and remain with best and warm regards, Véronique Siegel, ceo
"Quiet, clean and good staff"
I enjoyed my stay at the metropole. The hotel was quiet, clean and small (only 25 rooms). Centrally located for easy walking to sights and restaurants. I found the staff to be friendly and helpful. The breakfast was more than adequate and very well presented.

Really enjoyed my stay here. It is very close to the train station and a short walk to all the sites. Good restaurants are also within easy walking. Couldn't be a better location. Breakfast costs£ 13 and is not too bad. Not sure why it's not just part of the cost.

"Good location!"
My husband and I stayed two nights great location an easy walk from the train station. We asked for a room away from the street but found it a bit dark. The rooms were clean and staff was helpful and friendly. Just a reminder to the ladies even with a converter your hair equipment, curlers, straightener and blower will not work. It was short walk to the old town square with many shops and restaurants. Try Chez Yvonne it was amazing! We booked a driver to take us wine tasting and country side villages absolutely beautiful even in March.

"Great location for a Xmas break "
The hotel was very well located, just 5 min to the closest bridge. It had a small but well formed room with a great size bathroom. The room was clean and light with a modern decor. It was a bit tight with the dog bed, as he's a mastiff x but we managed. They have a living room with a pool table and we used it with our dog, just to chill after the day walking around the Xmas markets ?? ?? it was very comfy and quiet. Overall the experience was great and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. We would definitely recommend this hotel.

"first night for christmas lights in Strasbourg...."
We arrived in Strasbourg on way through to Hook of Holland for ferry to Harwich UK. On arrival at the hotel, after negotiating the city traffic to find it in very wet weather!!, we were greeted with a warm and friendly welcome. Hotel provides a person to park car in secure/locked hotel car park - if you opt to drive car yourself, the porter accompanies you in and out of car park - only a very short walk back to entrance of Hotel. This was a beautiful, comfortable hotel with a lot of interesting historical artifacts dotted around. Our room was very comfortable and clean. On our walk into the centre of Strasbourg for the turning-on ceremony of the Christmas Lights it poured and continued for the rest of the evening - even so, there were literally thousands of people present and all seemed to enjoy everything, as we did. Thank goodness for the warm and cosy room as we arrived back with trouser ends quite wet!! The breakfast 'was to die for' and was tremendously good value for 9 Euros each which set us up for the rest of day and our long journey through France and Germany and Holland and onto the ferrry to Harwich in the UK. One tip: If going to Strasbourg for the christmas lights - try, as we will in future, to go a few days after the turning-on ceremony when we think there may not be as many people present in one go!! It was very crowded which made it difficult to move around - add the rain and it was a little uncomfortable!! Nevertheless, we did value our opportunity to experience it.

Thank you so much for your great review and it's a pleasure to read that your stay in Strasbourg was such a delight. The opening of the Christmas market is always a great moment. Unfortunately, this year, the weather was especially bad and wet. You're right, on that evening there are always lots of people and, as the illuminations last the entire month, you can easily enjoy them on other days too. We hope to have the pleasure of greeting you back again and send you our best wishes, Veronique Siegel, ceo
"Very sound proof"
The rooms and hallways are wood paneled. Kind of a cool look, and with basically a second wooden door to each room ... it's very quiet. Very accessible from main train station and easy access into city centre also.

Excellent hotel.Modern rooms with charming spacious public areas. The breakfast was very good and great value for the cost of 9 euros. The position is great with plenty of good cafes/restaurants close by.Above all the staff were friendly and most helpful particularly the manager,Pierre who went out of his way to retrieve a lost credit card for us.Highly recommend this hotel.

"Great hotel"
We spent three nights at the Monopole Metropole. Room was immaculate and comfortable; it looked very recently remodeled. The double door helped keep out hall noise, so the room was very quiet. The lobby is also beautiful with many historic artifacts and a nice bar and lounge area. You can get a drink at a very reasonable price. The breakfast is excellent with a good variety of hot and cold items, and at 9€ reasonably priced. Location is close to train station and an easy walk from Petite France and all the Christmas markets. Highly recommended, we would gladly stay here again.

"Come here for the Excellent Customer Service, Amazing Room and Outstanding Breakfast"
My Husband and I visited Strasbourg for the opening of the Christmas Market. We are in love with the place. The location is about two blocks away from the train station (5 min walk). The receiving area and dining room has that warm and cozy feeling. You feel like you are in a fancy b&b. The room is outstandingly clean, with white fluffy linens and in room separate bathroom and wc. The breakfast, ooooh the breakfast... They make the best scrambled eggs of my life. Now I'm a cook and I am not exagerating. The egg is not fluffy it is more on a dense, silky soft texture!!! My husband and I eat here everyday, in fact I am writing this review while having breakfast here. The breakfast consist of bacon (where you can smell from the hallway of our third floor room) sausages saurkrout varieties of cold cuts such as salami prociutto etc, fresh fruits, bounty of breads and pastries and cheese, lots of cheese. I highly recommend this place. We thank the staff of of BW especially for Ms. Vera for taking care of us and handling our restaurant reservations in town.

"Stylish and friendly"
This hotel is located within easy walking distance of the train station and the city centre which makes it's location ideal. We stayed in an executive room on the first floor as these rooms were the only ones big enough to accommodate three people. Initial enquiries through Best Western central online booking indicated that an extra bed could be put in a comfort room. This was not the case. Deal directly with the hotel to avoid any issues. Having said that the room was beautifully decorated and modern. The room was also clean and comfortable. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was served in a large dining room with lots of choices of both hot and cold food. Price wise, the room was very reasonable on the weekend, but there is a premium on weekday nights which increased prices significantly. Irrespective, the hotel is well run and professional. We enjoyed our 4 night stay.

From check-in to check-out and everything in between, we found this to be a very comfortable hotel with friendly and professional staff. We would not hesitate to recommend this hotel, and in fact will be staying there again a few days from now. Location, breakfast, bar, decor — great in all these categories.

"Clean, modern, friendly staff"
My husband and I recently stayed here for 3 nights. As soon as we got to the hotel we were greeted by very friendly staff who remained that way for the entire stay, and they were very helpful. Our room was spacious, clean and modern. Bed was comfy too. The breakfast was great and the location was great -couple minutes walk to train station and petite france, and a short walk everywhere else. We were very happy with our stay.

"Amazing hotel for the price!"
I adore this hotel! It's located in a very convenient location, close to the central train station and short walk away from the city center. The room was very clean and the bathroom is super spacious. The hotel reception staff is very warm and eager to help with any questions/requests/pointers to local must sees. I would stay here again in the future! Highly recommend to everyone who's looking for reasonable accommodations in Strasbourg, FR

"Quite satisfied!"
My room, number 122, was very good and even the breakfast was quite o.k. which isn´t always the case in France. If I will be back in Strasbourg, I think, I will stay in this Hotel again. The personal at the reception was always very helpful.

"Convenient location & spacious modern rooms"
I stayed here for one night, and found it a good base for exploring Strasbourg. It is located close to the station, and offers parking for E13 (but be sure to reserve this ahead of time). My room was enormous, completely renovated, and the bed was comfortable. There were various noises in the morning (possibly due to thin walls) but it wasn't unbearable. The bathroom was small with minimal toiletries, but was clean, modern and functional. The breakfast was not great, with a limited selection and very odd-tasting scrambled eggs. It was an easy 5-10 minute stroll to the old part of town, so the location was convenient. The service was good. I would definitely recommend this as a base from which to explore Strasbourg, but skip the breakfast.

"Great Hotel, Great Location"
I recently spent 3 nights at this hotel as a single. My room was small but well arranged and had everything necessary for a good stay. It is easy walking distance from the train station and also easy walking into the city. The hotel runs efficiently and I found the staff pleasant and helpful. This is a great place to stay if you want to visit more of the Alsace by train. Reasonably priced.

"Friendly Staff "
The hotel is within walking distance of the centre and yet very quiet. Comfortable beds and nice light airy clean rooms with an enormous TV flat screen. Separate toilet and modern bathroom. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. For an extra € 13 you can have your car parked in the Hotel Garage. Fortunately, there is someone that does this task for you as it's a tight squeeze and not for the feint hearted !

"I highly recommend staying at this hotel if you're coming to Strasbourg."
We stayed here for seven nights, and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. Firstly, all the staff are a credit to the hotel. They could not have been more friendly or helpful. I have school French - which I spoke as best I could - however, being able to speak English was really useful. Our room was a decent size, spotlessly clean, and very quiet; we had uninterrupted sleep each night. Location is great, close to the train station and within an easy walk of the city centre and main sites. In addition, there's a tram stop just a few minutes away which we used frequently. There are a couple of decent restaurants nearby, also some shops for provisions. I highly recommend staying at this hotel if you're coming to Strasbourg; I will most definitely be back.

"Good Location, near train station."
Good location, walkable distance to Petit France and also close to supermarket (U). We used train to go to colmar, so it was convenient to be close to the train station/tram station. There are a kettle, fridge in the room and bathtab in the bath. Breakfast was 9 Euro and buffet style.

"Midle in the city & nice ambient rooms"
The place is great to stay if you want to walk in the city. Excellent good located for sightseeing! The bars and cafes are close by. Only the Hotel own parking lot is very poor and should be in advance reserved. The closest parking deck Woodies is ca 6 minutes away and if you ask the receptionist you will get a discount for 24h parking at Woodies. I paid 11€ for 24h instead of 18€ regular. Breakfast is good & fresh. The coffee is average...The rooms are clean and enough big. For France level big rooms! Bathroom new and clean too. The TV is 40" LCD. Air conditioner cooling excellent.

Dear @Lorandt_F, thank you for your stay and nice review. As you mention it, the location of our property is really ideal to visit Strasbourg. Everything is walking distance and it's easily reachable by train and by car. Parking facilities, either in our underground garage (preferably booked in advance as you recommend it) or 2 blocks away at Wodli, are convenient. I hope to have the pleasure of greeting you for a next stay in Strasbourg and wish you a nice end of summer. with BEST regards, Veronique Siegel, ceo
"Good position, pleasant, helpful staff"
Parking was a bit of a tight squeeze in the hotel's secure underground car park. Booked in advance. The hotel was 10 minutes walk from the town centre and Petite France, the old town area. There are some good places for coffee and pastries at the end of the street, and not far into town. We walked around the area by the river, toured the Cathedral and took a boat trip around the island. Our room was beside the street, but was quiet and we had air conditioning in the room. The shower worked well, the bed was comfortable and the room was clean. Breakfast was ok.

"Great location, nice rooms and helpful staff"
We got a nice room for two with a large bathroom, quite unlikely in many hotels. The room was very clean, the staff at the reception were exceptional. They helped us with finding parking, giving advice where to go, letting us keep our suitcases in their locker room beyond the agreed upon time as we lost our way. We were very pleased with the hotel, the room and the staff. The location of the hotel is great, we walked back and forth to the Place Kléber and Strasbourg Cathedral. I highly recommend this hotel.

"Excellent value"
This was the least expensive hotel we stayed in on our two week European vacation, but it was definitely one of the best. The room and bathroom were very large by European standards, the bed was comfortable, and everything was spotlessly clean. We also had excellent service. The one problem with this hotel is that the wifi is unusable. However, when we asked at the front desk whether there was anything they could do, they apologized profusely and let us use their mobile hotspot for the night free of charge. They even brought it up to our room! I highly recommend this hotel, especially if you're traveling by train (it's only two blocks from the station).

"A most pleasant stay!"
We were quite impressed with the Best Western Plus Monopole Metropole in Strasbourg. The staff was eager to please and added little touches to make our stay as comfortable as possible. For instance, there is ice-water flavored with cucumber or with lemons available at the counter along with complimentary freshly baked pretzels. One definitely feels as a most valued guest when staying there.

"Three days in BW"
We stayed three days in the hotel during summer season. It is in a good area, two blocks from the train station and two blocks from the beginning of the historical zone. The quality of the rooms are high: really good mattresses, great AC and nice design. The only thing that we didn't like of the room itself is that the toilet is placed in a different room with respect to the bathroom. Also, this little room with the toilet didn't have any ventilation!! Apart from this, the staff was really helpful and always offered free bretzels and water with fruits along the day. One thing that the hotel should check is to provide real soap and shampoo instead of the all-in-one mixture that it offers. This decision is not in line with being a four star hotel!! Regarding breakfast, we cannot say much as we didn't take it. Thanks to the staff for the great three days we spent at the hotel!!!

"Hotel with flawless service"
Stayed at the hotel with my wife on holidays. We received excellent service throughout our stay. Breakfast is normally charged but if you sign up for the loyalty program you get it free. Parking in nearby garage underground was both easy and safe. Recommend this hotel and if I visit Strasbourg again, I will most likely stay here.

"Excellent hotel"
Strasbourg is great for a short break, particularly if you live as we do in south east England. Ryanair fly from Stansted at sometimes remarkably cheap prices. On arrival at Strasbourg airport it's only a short covered walk to the train station & from there only 9 minutes to the city. As the Monopole Metropole is then only 5 minutes walk from Strasbourg train station, getting here was particularly easy. Strasbourg is compact & very walkable & 10 minutes leisurely walk will get you from the hotel to the heart of the city. The hotel is smart with a traditional feel. Rooms are nice & well appointed - good bathrooms with overbath shower, tea & coffee facilities, mini bar & the largest TV I've seen in a hotel. The daily clean is also to a very good standard. Breakfast was very good too - in a nice breakfast room & with a wide selection on offer. Staff are friendly & very helpful (in our case booking an excursion & a taxi for us) & there was always a friendly greeting when you passed reception. This is a really good hotel - comfortable, well appointed, well located, has excellent staff & is not too expensive either. I recommend Strasbourg & the surrounding region (its beautiful) & I also thoroughly recommend this excellent hotel.

"Excellent as usual!"
This was our third visit to this hotel as if it's a convenient stopping off point on a drive back from Italy. The staff are friendly, the rooms really comfortable and the breakfast excellent (surcharge). They even found a space in their garage for my car as we arrived late on Bastille Day and parking was not available on street. Very hard to find any fault! We will stay here again.

"Close to train station but better than that sounds"
We did indeed choose this hotel primarily for its proximity to the train station so we wouldn't have to carry luggage very far. The neighborhood is what you might expect, a little lower class certainly compared to the tourist area of Petit France which is close by. But the hotel itself was a pleasant surprise, very modern, comfortable and clean. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful even though we did not need much assistance. Strasbourg has such a compact old district that we could easily walk anywhere in town from the hotel. Compared to the hotels more toward the center of town this is a real gem for value.

"Great value, close to the main station"
This hotel lives up to and even exceeds the high standards of the Best Western hotel chain. Close to the station (a five minute walk) and reasonably priced, it should be a number one choice. The rooms are spacious, well appointed and comfortable. Everything seems newly decorated or renovated whilst retaining some old world charm. There is free wifi and the breakfast buffet is excellent. Highly recommended.

"Close to train station and main Strasbourg attractions"
The room, although small was very nicely furnished and seemed recently renovated. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom and separate toilet were modern and a nice size. The air conditioning in the room was great. Although it wasn't too hot outside it was good to have some cool air for sleeping. The reception staff were friendly and helpful in guiding us where to go in the city. There were also nice touches such as umbrellas available for the guests on the day it rained. The hotel is just a few minutes walk to the train station and around 15 mins walk to the centre of town (easy walk and along the main pedestrian street).

Dear @cyw, thank you for your survey which surprises me. The entire hotel is air-conditionned, and all rooms have a remote control for A/C separately. "Charming and Most Pleasant Hotel "
From arriving to the hotel to checkout we were extremely pleased with the front desk lady. (I think her name was Antoinette?) She took the time to explain where everything was on a local map, informed us that our room had been upgraded (which by the way, was one of the best hotels we stayed in during our Europe vacation) and let us know that if we needed anything she would be glad to help. (Very pleasant lady!) Our room was a front corner room (105) and it was superb!!! We highly recommend this hotel! Price was also great! Thank you so much for making our stay a memorable one. If we ever have the opportunity to come back again we will be sure to book this hotel. Thanks again, Kevin & DeAnn Indianapolis, Indiana

"Great hotel close to station"
We booked this hotel primarily due to the proximity to the train station but also found it to be good value. There were four of us (2 kids aged 10) so booked the family room. It consisted of a large double bed and 2 single sofa beds, which the girls said were comfortable. It was also very clean. The staff on reception were extremely welcoming and we found the service great. The hotel is a short walk to the old town and main attractions of Strasbourg. Breakfast the next day was lovely. Would definitely recommend to friends and family.

Dear @wendy743, Thank you so much for your excellent review. Good to read that your family had a pleasant stay in our hotel. "Comfortable and convenient"
Our room was small, quiet and comfortable although the pillows were hard and we had no air conditioning for the 5 nights we were there - and the temps were between 31 and 34 degC while we were there. They told us they had ordered the parts but no-one really cared. Unacceptable. Very close to the station which was very convenient.

"Lives Up to Best Western Standards"
My husband and I have traveled to Europe several times and have always been pleased with our stay in Best Westerns. This one did not disappoint. It was a beautiful building with a warm and welcoming gathering area and was very easy walking distance to all that we wanted to see in Strasbourg. For me what really stood out was the warm and welcoming front desk staff. To a person...morning ,noon,or night each one was helpful and patient with our questions. The housekeeping supervisor was also very helpful. We would stay here again and highly recommend it to others. If you go make sure to reserve a place in their parking deck ahead of time to avoid parking in the public parking deck a few blocks away.

"Excellent Hotel in beautiful Strasbourg"
The wife and I loved this place. Great location near the center of Strasbourg. The decor downstairs was lovely and the rooms comfortable and modern, although rather cramped, but who spends much time in the room anyway. The breakfast was quite impressive, with delicious meats, cheeses, breads and fruit. Very reasonably priced too. The only down side is the fitness center wasn't well equipped.

"Convenient city location but a few issues"
We needed to be near Strasbourg for a couple of days so chose this hotel as a base and to give us a chance to look around the city. The location is certainly very convenient to explore the interesting historic centre as within 5 minutes walk you are in the Petite France area. We needed a car and so the onsite parking (€13 per day) was important. The car park is a little way along the street from the hotel entrance but you need to stop and unload luggage at the hotel reception and then they will park your car for you. This isn't the most convenient arrangement and when you want to retrieve the car either a member of staff will fetch it or will accompany you there. The car park is underground and we were glad it was a small hire car as the entrance is quite narrow! We had a pleasant enough room which was clean and with a comfortable bed. In fact we had apparently been upgraded from the base room we had booked. The room was a bit noisy with the adjacent room's bathroom noises and various other staircase noises. The reception staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast (€9 per person) was a disappointment due to a poorly restocked buffet even at 8:30am, rather surly waiting staff. I think they had had a coach party there before us. I waited 20 minutes after I had asked for the scrambled egg pot to be refilled before giving up on it, so the second morning we sought breakfast just around the corner. In conclusion I would say that it would be reasonable Hotel for sight-seeing especially without a car ( the rail station is close by) but probably worth exploring one of the nearby patisseries or Boulangeries for your breakfast.

Dear @JandSD, thank you very much for your review. The location of our property is definitely great, as we are easily reachable by train or by car and, once you arrive, you can visit the main attractions and points of interests are walking distance. Our hotel is over 100 years old and the garage was not needed in the early 1900.... We were lucky to be able to add a private underground garage 50 meters away from our entrance door. Our guest can park their car for 13 euros daily, in a secure and closed place, and we make it even more secure by coming with our guests every time to the garage. Please accept my apologies for having you wait at the breakfast, because you did arrive just after a group left and we needed some minutes to refresh the buffet. I hope that we will have the pleasure of greeting you back again for a future stay in Strasbourg and I stay at your entire disposal for any question or help I could provide. "3 star max. Definitely not a 4."
I booked this hotel via booking.com. it has been listed a 4 star, also on TripAdvisor. However, it is a 3 max! 150 euros pop re night is ridiculous given the facilities and room. The hotel has no restaurant. The lift is so small that it can barely fit only the baby carrycot and me. My husband have to climb the stairs. The hotel room is very small as well. We travelled with a baby carrycot which can't even turn in the room. He aware that you must close the second (inner) door when you leave the room. The outer door does not lock. Oh, and make sure you reserve a parking if you travel by car. The only positives thing is that the staffs are very nice and always try to help.
, Directeur général at Best Western Plus Monopole Metropole, responded to this review
Dear @bsgdy, thank you for your stay and review and I am sorry to read that we were not able to meet your expectations. We don't run any restaurant, but there are many restaurants at a throw stones of our hotel. You're right, the elevator is not very big, but our hotel is over 100 years old and the elevators have been added and not built in. In one of the 2 wings, we offer rooms with a double door, which ensures a better sound-proofness and avoid any possible noise from the corridor. You're totally right, it is always better to book the underground garage in advance, as we have a limited number of spaces. I hope that we will have the chance to welcome you again for a future stay in our property. We have 3 different room categories, comfort, executive and deluxe. The main difference between each category is the size of the room. I stay personally at your entire disposal for any help or question. "Perfect located hotel with super friendly staff"
Cozy little hotel good located, just few mins from Gare and city center. Service at hotel was very good, ladies from reception gave us only useful information about city, as it was first time in Strasbourg, where to eat and what to see. Indeed good place to stay!

"Convenient location, comfortable room"
Hotel was conveniently located, about a 10 minute walk to Petite France and other sights. Room was comfortable and clean, and the staff and service were great. The only downside was the wifi which was slow and spotty. Otherwise a great stay!
, Directeur général at Best Western Plus Monopole Metropole, responded to this review
Dear @Lusine00, thank you very much for your stay and review. Good to read that you have appreciated your stay with us. Sorry for the wifi which was not satisfying despite the fiber connection. We have ordered a new server which should bring more stability in the future. We hope to have the pleasure of greeting you back for a next stay in Strasbourg and remain with BEST regards, Veronique Siegel, CEO
"Excellent stop off point"
We stayed for one night on a driving tour. The hotel was comfortable and had a garage for our car. We found the staff efficient and friendly, helpful too. the lack of a restaurant didn't worry us as we welcomed the opportunity to walk around the town centre. That's how we found Strasbourg's amazing cathedral (we actually regretted having to leave the next day)
, Directeur général at Best Western Plus Monopole Metropole, responded to this review
Dear @raywilliams2017, Thank you so much for your great review. We met your expectations and that makes my day. As you mention that you regretted to leave us, you will have to come back and spend more time in Strasbourg, one of the 10 most romantic cities (cf. Earthtripper). We will be here to greet you! with best and warm regards, Veronique Siegel, ceo
"Great Location "
The Best Western Metropole is in a great location in Strasbourg- very near the train station and an easy walk from the attractions of the old town area. We found the size of the family room to be a bit tight, but it was very clean and comfortable enough. The continental breakfast was a good value at €9 with children free, and the selection was decent. Our only complaint was that though it was a warm day in Strasbourg, the air con systems in the building had not yet been switched over from heat, and we were unable to cool off our room. We couldn't keep our windows open either because of the incessant cigarette smoke from the street. It made for a warm night.

Dear @Lesley_F, Thank you for your stay and review and good to read that all in all, you have appreciated your stay in our hotel. Location, comfort, cleanliness, as well as the quality of breakast have met your expectations. "Great Hotel"
Perfect stay! We were close to everything on foot. The staff were very attentive and hard working. The rooms were clean and inviting...and had space to spare. The Breakfast buffet was good and well stocked. There was a garage offered for our car but our car was too low so it didn't fit. However we were given directions and a discount ticket to another one. Will definitely stay again.

"Another really nice Best Western!"
Great location to take in the sights of Strasbourg without needing a car. Just a block or two from the river and town center area. Was a little nervous about the car park as regards getting in and out with an SUV, but didn't need to be - someone from the hotel parked the car for us when we arrived and got it out upon our departure - we didn't see or need the car the entire visit. It is a little difficult to find when first arriving into the city as well as figuring out where to unload on a busy street, but hotel staff came out and assisted. Hotel staff very efficient, helpful and professional. Rooms great size for a downtown location. We found everything very clean and modern and especially enjoyed the sofa in the room after a day of walking in the city. Breakfast was good and plentiful and there is also a bar area should you need a drink. Overall a perfect fit for our several day visit of Strasbourg!

"Awesome hotel"
Stayed here one night and loved it. The lobby is beautiful, decorated with a variety of historical objects including antique tools, kitchen objects, dishes, clothing, etc. Very interesting. Our room was beautiful and exceptionally quiet. The bed was very comfortable. They also have a lovely bar for a nightcap before turning in. The entire facility is immaculate and very well maintained. Breakfast was excellent. All the food was really good and there was a good variety. The lobby is elegant. The staff were all very friendly, helpful, and efficient. I can't say enough good about it. Also, great location. Lots of really nice restaurants and coffee shops near by. We came in by train and it was an easy 5 minute walk to the hotel. They also have parking available. Areas like Petite France are just a few minutes walk away. We would definitely stay again and highly recommend it to others.

"Clean, modern and close to the station"
Stayed for 3 night on business nearby as I couldn't get into my usual hotel - that said I think I'll return to this one instead. My room was very contemporary in design, clean and spacious (paid for an upgrade to a larger room). Has everything you need, kettle, hairdryer, ironing board etc. Worth commenting on the great shower - lots of hot water and very powerful. The locations is great; barely 2 mins walk from the train station and 10 mins from the centre of town. Breakfast was also good - lots of choice in a nicely done dining room. There is also a pool room and a bar (although I didn't see many people making use of the bar as it did look a little soulless). Also has a computer and printer for guest use. My only real criticism is that the wifi is a bit slow and temperamental, but it is free.

"A nice but small hotel"
A nice pleasant hotel but no bar or dinner facilities near to the Mecure Hotel and town plaza 5 mins away centre of of city near the river rooms ok. Plenty of places to eat and drink and shop nearby but disappointing most things close early around 10pm including restaurants.
SiegelP, Gérant at BEST WESTERN Monopole Metropole, responded to this review
Dear Mr Smallshaw, Thank you for your review following your last stay with us earlier this month. We do have a bar onsite, and we also propose a small room-service menu 24hrs a day. Regarding the restaurants nearby, there are a few of them still serving after 10pm, but not a lot I have to admit. During your next stay with us, do not hesitate to ask at our front desk, we will be more than happy to give you some advises. Kindest regards,
"Excellent hotel close to station"
I stayed at this hotel for three nights on a recent holiday and was very happy with it. I chose it mainly because it is so close to the train station, but it is also convenient for walking to other tourist sights of Strasbourg such as Petite France and the cathedral area. My double room had a wooden floor and was modern and quite spacious. The bathroom was clean and well appointed, with a large shower recess. The breakfast, which was available for a moderate additional charge, was very good, with lots of choice. The reception were knowledgeable and helpful when I needed a tour booked and advice on the best way of getting to the bus station at Place de l'Etoile. I would definitely stay again in the future.

My first time here I have always stayed at the ibis. But no more this hotel is so much better a very nice room big bathroom with a Bath Ans Sep shower . Breakfast ok eggs meat cheese they did not replace the bacon but it was ok for me. The very nice lady on the desk was so helpful I have booked for my trip next year. John

So if you have a special wish, don't hesitate to inform us upon reservation, so that we can allocate the appropriate room. The buffet breakfast is refilled all around the service. Unfortunately, it might take a bit longer to cook the bacon if we run out quicker than foreseen... Sorry for that. But it is always replenished. "Excellent Hotel near le Gare Strasbourg"
I have been at this hotel several times. It seems each time is better than the last. Its location is perfect as it is about a block from the main train station. The rooms are bright, well decorated and actually large for a European hotel. The breakfast is wonderful with a large assortment of items. I am able to walk to the center or the Petite France in a very short time, The staff is always helpful. When coming to Strasbourg, this is the only hotel I will choose.

"Good value, attractive and practical"
So I was looking for a hotel at the last minute and I found they had rooms free here. I've stayed a few times in Strasbourg so I have to say the other two places I stayed I wasn't that impressed with despite having spent plenty of time trying to find a good hotel. So I have to say that I was suitably impressed with the best western. The rooms were very nice, the price was reasonable, the interior of the hotel was attractive and the breakfast was hot, bacon and eggs available which makes a pleasant change from the cold buffet you often get and you get charged €15 for. The wifi worked perfectly which was nice. The best western is not smack in the middle of Strasbourg but you pay a premium for that. Frankly I would stay at the best western and keep your money for a nice dinner!

Dear @Solstar7 ! thank you so much for your great review. Reading that you were "suitably impressed" by our poperty made my day ! Good to read that you have enjoyed the decor, breakfast and wifi. "Good value for money"
We had two rooms for a family with two grown up children. We had two nights in two separate bookings before and after route de vin. Everything worked well as promised. A hint: book the garage if you are with a car. We had two rooms, which vere recently renovated and in a good condition. Hotel was quiet and clean. Bathrooms vere large and beds very good. Aircon worked well. Breakfast was included in the room rate. It was good typical Central European breakfast. Hotel staff was friendly and helpful. Hotel location is a block away from canal and the city center, a short walk to sightseeing. Overall very good value for money.

Dear @Aki_N, Thank you very much for having taken the time to share your experience and thank you for your stay in our property. You're right to give the tip of reserving the garage. "Comfortable Stay, Helpful Staff"
Perfect location, close to the railway station which we reached easily from Strasbourg airport at Eintzeim and walkable to all the sights. We were with our daughter and three in one room did not feel cramped at all, which we were worried about. Room was very clean, housekeeping did a good job daily and breakfast adequate though they did run out of items. The reception staff was very friendly and helpful, one gentleman on night duty helped print our tickets at the last minute. Happy to have selected this hotel!

"Quite central - again good staff."
This hotel is good, staff are excellent - they arranged to park my car for me. The hotel is a two minute walk across the river from the main tourist area which is beautiful. Not the best view from the hotel along a side street - but good value and breakfast was just the ticket. Really nice decor - and good value

"Well located comfortable hotel"
Friendly welcome, and assistance to park car in their underground car park, very steep and narrow, but worth while as hard to find parking locally. Room very comfortable normal Best Western standards. The WiFi was weak but usable, and there were a few squeaky floor boards, which woke my wife when getting up in the night. Shower non thermostatic, so went hot and cold occasionally. The hotel is well located 10 mins walk Le Petite France and 15 mins walk to the La Cathedral. Breakfast was a reasonable spread, with good coffee. Reception and bar staff very helpful, and a nice touch of cold cordial and water left for guests. A nice place to visit with lots to do - would come back to the town and stay here.

"Nice Surprise"
We stayed one night at this hotel before our train to Paris. Easy walking distance to train station. The hotel was a pleasant surprise. Very friendly and helpful staff. The room was plenty big, clean, modern and the bathroom was large. The lobby area allowed you do sit and have a drink, snacks, or just visit with others. Good location, and would definitely stay here again. Easy walking distance to just about anything.

"Great hotel, would stay again!"
Stayed here for one night for a short visit to Strasbourg. The rooms are very nice, clean and the bathroom was bright and spacious with soap/shower gel dispensers (I love these). We had booked rooms for 9 people and all the rooms were nice and each a bit different, for example my room was carpeted and decorated in Alsatian style, a friend's room had laminate floors and was more modernly decorated. The bed was very comfortable. The apéro in the evening is a nice touch and the breakfast was fantastic. Very friendly staff. The hotel is very centrally located, I would recommend it and would be happy to stay there again.

Dear @Sarah_B, Thank you so much for your review. Good to read that your whole group had a good stay in our property. As you detail it, the rooms are very different from one to the other, around the theme of Alsace. The comfort and amenities are the same, the size depends on the room category. For breafkast also, we try to offer a wide choice, with the products you cans have for an international breakfast but also with a large selection of alsatian products (pastries, sausages, choucroute, local cheese). We love our region and want to share it with our guests ! I hope to have the pleasure of greeting you back and am at your entire disposal for any help I could provide. "Fantastic stay in central location. "
This hotel is fantastic for 3 stars and at around £70 for a central location a real bargain. Nice room with a kettle and a bath which is now always the case in Europe at 3 stars. The staff could not have been more helpful especially as we arrived hot and tired with a baby after a long drive in the heat. Our air conditioning had gone in our car and the staff sent us off with bags of ice and cold water. Breakfast was 9 euros and good. There were scrambled eggs, sauerkraut and sausages as well as bread, croissants, pastries, cheese, meat, fruit and yogurts. The public areas of the hotel are also nice. The hotel is a ten minute walk from the cathedral or the "Petite France" area, we would definitely stay again.

"One night stay"
This was a very pleasing stay. Sadly only one night. Staff ( especially lady on day shift ) was so friendly and helpful. Room was immaculate...do reserve parking, as traffic is rather hectic, and have to park a few streets away in car building otherwise . But do get card for discount prices.. Breakfast was bountiful. "A delightful stay"
The hotel rooms show recent refurbished works that provide modern amenities and comfort. Like most hotels for the price one pays (three stars), the room was small but big enough to accomodate a comfortable double bed with space to manouever. The room was very clean, has a big tv screen, air conditioner for summer days and modern italian shower with separate toilet.Overall, ideal location in the city centre plus an attractive accomodation with a very good selection for breakfast makes it an excellent choice to stay in Strasbourg.

Hello @Smiling_Sightseer, Thank you so much for your very positive review. It's a delight to read that you found the accomodation attractive and that you spent an enjoyable time with us in Strasbourg. I hope to have the pleasure of greeting you back again. Take care and BEST regards, Veronique Siegel, CEO
"Location,location,location!"
Small rooms but clean and comfy.Got a room overlooking the street but it was quiet. Full marks for location.Staff were helpful, gave us maps and directions, they could have recommended going to the Cathedral at night to see it lit up, which we missed. Ideal if you're arriving and leaving by train. A 10 min walk from Gare Cenrtrale, 5 min from Petit France. Very close to the cathedral and main attractions. The toilet and bathroom being seperate has its advantages but is inconvenient as there's no wash basin in the toilet. Loved the city and would stay at this hotel again if I went back.

"Good choice in beautiful Strasbourg"
We chose this hotel as it is located near the train station and we got a good deal. It is an easy 15 min walk to the historic city centre. We stayed for 3 nights in an executive room. The room was fairly small but had everything we needed for our stay. Although our room design was modern the rest of the hotel had a traditional feel and is lovely building. Buffet breakfast was very good although it did get very busy one morning when a coach party was staying. The lounge room is nice and we stayed up one evening playing pool and chatting to the bar staff. In fact all the staff were friendly and very helpful. I would definitely stay here again if we ever return to Strasbourg.
VeroniqueSiegel, Directeur général at BEST WESTERN Monopole Metropole, responded to this review
Dear @angelaroxy, thank you so much for your great review and it's good to read that you rate our hotel as a good choice to visit Strasbourg. Moreover, I am happy to know that you would definitely select our property again for another stay in Strasbourg... Strasbourg and Alsace definitely deserve a second stay :). Again thank you for reviewing us and take care, BEST regards, Veronique Siegel, CEO
"Strange rooms. Good staff"
Location of the hotel is good as it's within walking distance of the city centre. The rooms are a bit strange as the toilet is in 1 room and shower & sink are in another room on the opposite side. It might seem convenient if someone is in the shower but after using the toilet, you need to use the other room to wash your hands. The TV's in the rooms are quite large (they seem like a 42 inch) and the beds are comfortable. The staff are really nice and accommodating. The receptionist gave us a map and marked out places we could go as we were only there for 1 night and told us about a light show taking place at the cathedral. The breakfast buffet was very nice and had a good selection. Strasbourg itself is a beautiful and clean place which I would go back to if I had the chance. The cathedral is stunning at night when it's lit up purple and surrounded by Gothic ambient sounds. It would have been nice to have more time there. One thing to note is that the shower and toilet doors are frosted glass which makes using the toilet a bit less private.
VeroniqueSiegel, Directeur général at BEST WESTERN Monopole Metropole, responded to this review
Dear @deanobrowne, I must say that I have been quite surprised with the title of your review... "Strange rooms" is a bit... disappointing ! After reading, I understand that you have felt uncomfortable with the toilets separate of the bathroom, and I am sorry for that. Some guests really appreciate to have separate toilets, some others not.... Luckily, the other points are rated quite positively and I am delighted (and reassured) to read that you have appreciated the comfort of the bed, the welcoming attitude of the staf, as well as the breakfast ! I hope to have the pleasure of greeting you back in our hotel ! All rooms don't have separate toilets ;). I stay personally at your entire disposal for any help or issue. "Ok"
I don't know if we were a bit unlucky in that we seemed to have quite a small room- with the toilet at one end and the bathroom at another!! Strange layout. I never understand why there isn't a mirror above the dressing table either!?! That said, bed was comfy, location was good and tea/coffee tray was provided- although they were tight with the cream... Only giving us two each day. Be warned, if you're in the car, this is really tricky to get to! You can see the hotel, but it is down a one way street and the sat nav wanted us to go down a street which looked to have just been blocked off! Took us a good while circling around the one way system to find it!

Hello @Emmawel, thank you very much for your stay and for taking the time to share your experience on Tripadvisor. The room you are describing is one of our comfort rooms, which is the smallest room category. We have also Executive and Deluxe room, which are bigger. Our hotel was built in 1895, so we need to organise the space, from one room to the other, considering the walls and circulations of the building we have... that's why you found that the separate toilets and the bathroom were on both ends of the room. Sorry if you fond this annoying We do organise the coffee and tea making facilities with 2 creams everyday, but we can bring you some more anytime or organise as many as needed on request. Some navigators are not up to date and I am sorry to read that it took you some time to reach us. Don't hesitate to call us if you need some help, we are quite good at phone guiding :) I hope to have the pleasure of greeting you back for a future stay in Strasbourg and I am at your entire disposal for any help I could provide. with BEST regards, Veronique Siegel, CEO
"Convenient location to the train station and the town center"
I stayed here for 10 nights in May. The first room I was given was big but very dark with a very small bathroom. I was given a large room with traditional decorations, with a king size bed and close proximity to the elevator. I used this hotel as a base to take day train trips as it is 3 blocks from the train station. The breakfast was substantial but didn't change in variety. Housekeeping staff was wonderful and even checked that I was ok if I didn't need my room serviced. TV was typical with few English channels, but there was an English movie channel. Free WIfi was included and I could watch movies that I downloaded. This hotel is centrally located. It is very easy to walk to the Cathedral, Le Petit France and the central shopping district. There are many restaurants in the area. I would stay here again, because of its great staff and great location. I felt I received great value,

Dear @johanna4645, Thank you so much for your great review and it's a pleasure to read that you have appreciated your stay in our property. A 10 days stay is very unusual in Strasbourg, where we mostly have short city-breaks guests or corporate guests. Sure, the location in the center and close to the train station is a hit. Regarding breakfast, we try to offer a wide range of choice everyday, so it's quite complicated to vary a lot from one day to the other... Once again thank you for having posted this review and it's important to me that you rate the value as having been great! I hope to have the pleasure of greeting you back in Strasbourg and stay at your entire disposal ! with BEST regards, Veronique Siegel, CEO
"Super customer service -- when needed!"
In the evening of 14 July, 2016, my wife and I arrived at this hotel after a 70 km bike ride from Rastatt, Germany. The ride was organized by the EuroBike company (as part of a 6-day ride from Heidelberg to Strasbourg), and on our arrival to Strasbourg we were supposed to find our two bags in the hotel's lobby -- just like we found them on each of the preceding 5 days of the ride, in other hotels we stayed in. Alas, this was the Bastille day, the French driver completely forgot about our bags, and they remained in the previous hotel we stayed in -- in Rastatt :-( We were exhausted, sweaty, hungry -- and we had to find out what happened to our bags in order to even take a shower (all our clothes were in the bags). This is where Timothee and Mohamed, the two receptionists who welcomed us when we arrived, helped us so invaluably. They patiently called nearby hotels that work with EuroBike (to make sure our bags did not land there, by mistake); they connected us with EuroBike's telephones in Austria and Germany -- at no cost to us at all; and they had so much patience! In the end, after several hours, the bags were transferred to us, and we could start enjoying Strasbourg, not before we went to get some food at a nearby restaurant, which Timothee called ahead of time to reserve a table for us (as it was getting late!). In short, the service we had received from these two staff members was impeccable. Other than that, the hotel was superb. Location, fantastic room with everything we needed, excellent breakfast, quiet. We will return!

Dear y_o_13, Thank you very much for your kind comment after your stay with us. I'm delighted to read that Mohamed and Thimotée did a good job solving your luggage issue. I'll forward your compliments to them. We hope having the pleasure of welcoming yoou again in the future and remain with kindest regards.
"Excellent customer service"
We rented a car from eurocar 2 blocks from the hotel, in front of the train station The hotel staff would take the car from where I had parked it in front of the hotel and park it for you in their parking (extra), the next morning when you were ready to go they would bring the car from the parking to the front of the hotel for you The room was "large" not small at all---the flat screen TV was 40 inches, most hotels have small TV's, the buffet breakfast (extra) was very good---We spent little time at the hotel as we drove to the chanpagne and alsace wine regions had toll roads whose machines readily accepted our American Visa with chip.

"A good hotel in a convenient location"
A good hotel in a convenient location. We stayed two nights. Our first room was a good size but we were disappointed at the lack of natural light and views, so we were given an excellent traditionally decorated room on the first floor with lots a light. The lift is tiny (we didn't need use it) and the car park was very small and difficult to use with a large 4wd. The Strasbourg cathedral (fantastic) is an easy 15 minute walk with plenty of restaurants on the way. Breakfast was average. Wi-Fi was good. Freely available flavoured water and pretzels in the lobby were tasty. Overall, a good choice and worth considering.
SiegelP, Directeur général at BEST WESTERN Monopole Metropole, responded to this review
Dear Tobyis, Thank you very much for your nice comments. As a matter of fact, our garage entrance looks tiny. In fact, we manage to enter quite easily some large cars. The real limit for a car to fit in is the height which should not exceed 1.90 meter. Anyway, our team is always here to assist you while parking. We hope having the pleasure of welcoming you again for another occasion. Kindest regards,
"Good choice..."
Friendly, efficient staff are very helpful. Room had been redone recently and was well-appointed and comfortable. Great location. Public areas are nicely decorated. Good breakfast. Prices are reasonable. Highly recommended.

"A pleasant surprise with a great location"
It is not a budget hotel but I'm more than happy to pay the little extra to make our trip a pleasant one. It's just 3-4 minutes' walk from the rail station and is easy to find. The building is a heritage building (though you'll see a lot of this in Europe) but its internal structure has been refurnished. The only down side is its lift: small and slow. But you don't necessarily need to use it for going up and down. Otherwise, the room was of good size, clean, and is well equipped. Bathroom is reasonably good too. Quiet and just 5-10 minutes' walk you'll get to Petit France and the cathedral area. Lots of good restaurants. I used Strasbourg as a base to going around. Trip to Colmar was nice. Nancy is 1.5 hours' away by train. That the hotel was near to the rail station serves its purpose. Breakfast is 9 Euros. Enough options and I was happy. Will come back if I'll visit Strasbourg again.

Dear @Bally1966, Thank you very much for having taken the time to review our hotel after your recent stay in Strasbourg. I am delighted to read that you have appreciated the refurbishings we are continuously bringing in to improve our product and service. Our hotel is over 100 years-old, and we try to keep its particular local atmosphere in each renovation. The lift was built in afterwards, that's why it's small for nowadays standards... We hope you will be back in Strasbourg in the future and will be there to welcome you back! with BEST regards, Veronique Siegel, CEO
"great hotel- excellent location"
A fine hotel easy to reach with ample indoor parking just a few doors from the entry to hotel. The city is a short walk from the hotel and is truly a "do not miss" site. It is like an island in that the town is surrounded by a river. Much to do and see with plenty of shopping. A clean park near the center offers a fine place to picnic. Restaurants abound. River tours are offered. We stayed 3 nights but could have stayed more with all the day trips possible from here.

Thank you also for mentionning how our city is nice and that it's a 'do not miss' site. You will have to come back to have some day trips on the wine road, on the Vosges mountain to see the many ruins of fortified castles, the ceramics of northern Alsace or the black forest. As you said, there are plenty things to visit here in Alsace and nearby. We are looking forward to greeting you back again and stay at your entire disposal. "Great service with very good location"
Well appointed rooms, looked like they had been recently updated, our room had enormous walk in shower, very unusual in Europe. Down stairs public areas were more traditional in decor, also in great condition. Can not say enough about how friendly and helpful the staff was. Loaning umbrellas out to guests, even one who was headed out of town for an overnight stay. Fresh cold flavored waters in the foyer were a nice little extra. Good location within walking distance to train and the major sites, such as Old Town and Petite France. Very good value

Dear @cbsjohn, Thank you so much fo ryour great review. Our over hundred years old hotel is being renovated partially every year, so your room was recently or quite recently updated. The public areas were also recently updated, but with a very traditional alsatian style and decor. That way, we would like to sharethe alsatian atmosphere and history with our guests. If you stay with us in Strasbourg, you should know you are in Alsace :). Your comment regarding the welcoming attitude of the team is really appreciated. Thank you for mentionning it! "Great. Simply Great."
This hotel is a stone's throw away from the train station and within walking distance of everything in central Strasbourg. Our room is lovely-- modern, clean, newly decorated, large and very, very comfortable. If you didn't know differently, you'd think you were in a luxury hotel. The fastest Wifi I've ever used-- probably anywhere. It uploaded a high quality video to Facebook in seconds--which took almost an hour at our previous hotel. We arrived early, they stored our luggage while we wandered the city. When we returned the bags had already been brought to our room. I'm very impressed by the extra effort they've made to be sure we're happy and comfortable. They will definitely go the extra mile for their guests. Fresh bavarian pretzels waiting upon arrival. Room service available. And the air conditioning works wonderfully. Room smelled very fresh (absolutely no hint of smoke whatsoever). Great price-- you cannot go wrong booking here.

"All what you need in Strasbourg"
We had 2 nights in Strasbourg on the way between Switzerland and another two days of work in Luxembourg. The hotel is 5 minutes walk from place kleber. The hotel itself has an old charming style with very good service. The rooms are kind of small but the value overall is excellent. Breakfast has all you need and free wifi is very good.

"A smart choice for a stopover in Strasbourg "
I stayed here with my son, for one night only, a couple of weeks ago; and I've been vacillating between a four- and five-star rating. In the end I've gone for the latter, simply because I couldn't think of a good reason not to. OK, so the location is not absolutely "prime": it's just over a bridge from the island, and there a lot of hotels that are closer to the Cathedral and other major "sights". But you know all that when you book; and it's only 15 mins walk, or just 5 or so to the Petite France area and its restaurants (try L'Oignon); it's also easily reachable from the motorway (as well as being close to the main railway station), you can drive straight to it, and it has secure underground parking. Maybe it's not in the most attractive building (from the outside) or on the most attractive street; but again, you can look at the photos, and if that's important to you, take it into account. For my purposes, it was ideal, and exceeded expectations in a number of ways. The interior is very well appointed, with well-equipped modern rooms and a nice mixture of modern and traditional (reproduction) styles in the public areas: my impression was that it easily matched many four-star hotels. All of the staff we dealt with were pleasant and helpful. And our regrettably-short stay got off to an excellent start when we arrived at about 11 a.m., hoping just to park there and go off to explore the city, and were able not only to that but to check in and get into our room straight away. I have two regrets: one that our schedule only allowed one night; and the other that, having failed to check what time we needed to get to Dunkerque for our ferry until the previous evening, we had time for only a quick visit to the excellent breakfast buffet (included in our room rate) before getting on the road - to my son's great disappointment...

"Great value hotel in ideal location"
We spent 2 nights at this delightful hotel after being recommended by my sister and her husband who also travelled with us on this visit. We were greeted warmly and directed to our very pleasant rooms very speedily. This hotel is located an easy 5/10 minute walk to the old town of Petit France which is absolutely stunning, and hosts a multitude of lovely restaurants and street cafes some with amazing views over the river. The hotel was very quiet, even though there were many guests there. The free WiFi was good and we loved the power shower. The bed was very comfortable and I really appreciated the air con. The free safe was also very welcome. Breakfast was very good and plentiful, although we did feel the tables were rather close together which made getting up for a refill rather awkward. Check out was easy and fast and we just loved the rack of giant pretzels on reception which were free for guests..yummy.. Will definately stay again if we revisit Strasburg

"good value"
Very quiet, good buffet breakfast, lovely facilities, conveniently located between the train station and Petite France. Many restaurants nearby. Check-in was efficient and made extra-easy by the pleasant desk clerk who spoke excellent English. Check-out was equally easy. Our deluxe oversized room was delightful for 3 nights. It was spacious with two very comfortable twin beds, a big desk, and a great shower. We thought the price was a good value for the location.

"Clean mid-range hotel close to old town."
The staff here is excellent. Our keys were ready and waiting for us on arrival. All hotels should be this efficient! Our room was a good size, and was very quiet. We barely heard anyone in the neighboring rooms or the hallway. The bed wasn't terribly comfortable. There was only a power outlet on one side of the bed--not great when two people have phones and devices to charge at bedside. A simple power hub on each nightstand would solve this issue. The room had a minibar and a safe. The bathroom was efficiently sized with plenty of counter space--excellent! There was even a magnifying mirror, which is a nice touch. The shower (only) had slight mold in the tile grout; housekeeping just needs to spend a little time scrubbing those bits. The shower water pressure was great, and the hot water stayed hot. The towels were really nice the first day, but the second day we were given towels that were stiff and crunchy; it would have been nice to have soft towels every day. The free WiFi was pitiful-- slower than the 2G on my phone! Had I first read this in a review, I'd have considered a different hotel. It was poor in our room and in the lobby bar. Good WiFi is a necessity to travelers these days, and all hotels should provide their customers with strong, free WiFi. Breakfast was OK with a nice selection of cheeses, but the scrambled eggs tasted like powdered eggs instead of fresh. This hotel has a small private parking garage for a charge (we paid €13/night). There's also a multi-level public garage a few blocks away where the hotel will give you a discount to total €11/night. I'm not a fan of Best Western properties, but this one was OK. It's not in the old town, but is easily walkable to most places: 5-minute walk to Petit France, 15 to the cathedral. This wouldn't be my first choice the next time I'm in Strasbourg, but if the price is right and if they improve their WiFi I might consider it.

All in all and despite the fact that you are not kean on Best Western, I am glad that you have appreciated the sound-proof rooms, the bathroom installations and the size of the room, the professionalism of the team and the underground garage. Regarding the wifi, I would have loved to be able to check it with you during your stay, because the only way for us to understand the problems is to make the tests at the same time and in the same conditions. Our wifi system is new and we have installed a fiber connexion with the highest speed level available in our street (which is the city center of Strasbourg). "An excellent stay"
While planning my latest business trip to Strasbourg I discovered the European parliament was in session. There was great difficulty finding a room for a weeks stay. I happened upon the Monopole in a search. I will readily admit that the Best Western brand is not my first choice in the US. You cannot imagine my surprise by the brand in Strasbourg. It is a clean, modern hotel with many amenities. With that being said, obviously it is the staff that makes the the hotel a "home away from home". Attentive, friendly and extremely helpful are the descriptions I would use. A good balance of professionalism and welcoming attitude.

"Good Attentive Staff"
During my recent 2 different business trip stays in this hotel, I was well attended and received by very good front desk staffs. They had made me feel my stay was well taken care and even provided good recommendations for places of interest. Overall, the staff are great except the wifi connection may needs some upgrading as the signal from room is terribly bad and frequently drops connection.

"Nice, comfotable place to stay near to the old town"
Hotel Metropole is located next to the pedestrian area "Petite France" and lies in about 15 minutes waking distance to the Cathedral. The hotel has 80 rooms that are just sufficient in size. They are newly renovated with a modern design. The beds are comfortable. A desk, flat screen TV with some English news channels, a kettle and a reliable Wi-Fi are part of the standard equipment. The bath room is equipped with a tub, in size rather narrow but bright and clean. Beware of the elevator which is very small and cramped. The breakfast includes a wide selection of regional products, such as sauerkraut, boiled smoked pork meat and bacon and the famous Alsatian cake named “Guggelhopf”. There are in addition cakes, muesli, cold cuts, something for all tastes. There is a wide range of restaurants near the hotel. Restaurant "Schnokeloch" is reachable on foot in 5 minutes. This Brasserie is serving typical Alsatian specialties. The staff is helpful. The parking garage is 50 meters away. The entrance is very, very narrow. Drives that feel unsafe should better leave the car with to the hotel attendant for driving it into the garage. I can only recommend this hotel.

"Excellent Location and Service"
My mother, my wife, and I stayed here two nights. The hotel is just a short walk from the train station and is quite affordable. The rooms are not large but there was plenty of room for my wife and me. The staff was very helpful -- I wish I had gotten the name of the young lady at the front desk who gave us so much assistance (where to get a good meal nearby, how to buy tickets for the tram). The hotel serves a nice breakfast. Our wireless connection was a little week, and the street can be a little noisy if you open a window (which we did to let in some cool air), but otherwise everything was positive. Strasbourg is a gorgeous city and having such a nice hotel helped us fully enjoy our stay there.

Dear @hgoodson, thank you so much for your great comment regarding your recent stay with us. Your compliments will be shared with the entire team and especially the front desk. "Excellent hotel in Strasbourg. Don't let the "Best Western" name scare you :P"
Don't let the "Best Western" name scare you. It's much better than your average Best Western room in the US. :P We stayed here while exploring the Alsace region. The location of the hotel is very convenient. While it is not exactly located in the old town but it's only 5-7 minutes walk away. The advantage of this location is that it's in between the train station and the old town. So walking to either place takes just a few minutes . It's a very nice hotel. The rooms are of decent size. Room and bathroom were all clean and of high quality. The official pictures of the hotel rooms are pretty accurate. When we went there, the area was very quiet so there was no noise issue at all and we had no problem sleeping at night. I especially like the dining hall. It's tastefully decorated with a nice European atmosphere. Breakfast was about 10 Euro per person which was very reasonable considering the quality and the variety of food offered. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. One thing I could think of for improvement is the number of electric outlet in the room. There were only one or two electric outlets and there were either inconvenient to reach or near the entrance door. Like most modern travelers, we had quite a number of devices and batteries to charge at the end of each day. So more electric outlets at easily accessible locations in the room would be a big plus. The cost of the hotel room was very reasonable compared to the ones in the old town area. (We were there in March). So we think this hotel is of great value for what it offers. We had a great stay here. Thank you. Tip: If you intend to go on the Strasbourg cruise tour , ask the front desk for 10% off coupons for the cruise tickets.

Dear @WayChai, thank you so much for your great and very detailed review. Good to read that you have a good time staying with us. We are currently refurbishing the last rooms in which we had not enough plugs available on the desk and next to the bed so I am pretty sure that the issue with the outlets will soon be solved. I hope that we will have the pleasure of greeting you back again and I stay at your entire disposal for any help or question. with BEST regards, Veronique Siegel, CEO
"Recommended!"
Located some 300 metres from the UFO looking main railway station, the hotel occupies an imposing red coloured mansion. The interior nice looking with a special decoration - I sat in an improvised throne in the hall, and the staff welcoming. The floors are covered with a soft carpet to to secure the comfort of the visitors. Even the room door is doubled for that purpose! The room itself was spacious, comfortable, no smelling. The windowed bathroom was looking new, with a bath and sufficient racks for the towels. A huge 1.20 m Phillips TV set on the wall. The soundproof was normal, except street noises early in the morning by the city rubbish cleaners. The hotel is popular, and during the holidays all the tables can be occupied and you will need to wait in a queue. The breakfast is rich, with a good variety of cheeses, sausages, yoghurt, rolls, jams, juice and coffee. The eggs you must boil yourself in a special boiler, so you need to watch them!! In the lobby there a big recreation room where guests can play billiard, chess or enjoy their drink. The proximity of the station makes it very easy to travel to Colmar and other fabulous small towns in Alsace. We recommend the hotel.

"Friendly and convenient"
Although the hotel itself seems old and the rooms are a bit dreary, the extra friendly staff and great location make up for it. The breakfast is decent for the price with various breads, pastries, fruits, yogurts, cheeses and meats and boiled eggs. The room was definitely disappointing as we got the deluxe room which was a bit more expensive and expected something more. The room just felt dark, old and slightly dirty because of the old couch and curtains. The bathroom was small but had a nice sink and shower. We had a baby and they had her crib already in the room and had high chairs for breakfast. The location is excellent, you can walk to restaurants, shops and Petit France in minutes.

"Would recommend"
This hotel is a 5 minute walk from the central station and 10 minute walk from the beautiful old town. The staff were all very helpful and efficient. Our rooms on the first floor were spacious and clean with lovely light and airy bathrooms. The breakfast room is large and cheerful with a good assortment of hot and cold food. Free Wifi is good. The hotel is in a quiet area with no noise at night. If I had one small complaint it would be that the towels are not very luxurious or absorbent. I would certainly stay here again and would have no hesitation in recommending it.
VeroniqueSiegel, Directeur général at BEST WESTERN Monopole Metropole, responded to this review
Dear @MAXINEOxford, thank you so much for your very positive review. Good to read that you have appreciated the location, comfort and services. Wifi is very important and we have a fiber connexion which is quite reliable, thank you for mentionning it. I take good note of your comment regarding the towels. We had some problem with the softener, which has been change... but as I don't know if it was before or after your stay, I will recheck. Again, thank you for recommending our hotel and I am looking forward to welcoming you back for a future stay in Strasbourg and Alsacce. With BEST and warm regards, Veronique Siegel, CEO
"Convenient location, great staff, highly recommend"
Hotel is in a good location that was easy to access from the motorway and easy walk to the river and the center of Strasbourg. Staff is multi-lingual and very helpful. We reserved a parking spot in the underground garage. We have an SUV an it fit fine, but it is a small garage. Part of our reason for staying there is that they allowed our dog for 5 Euro a day. Good free wifi. We chose to get our French pastries for breakfast just steps from the hotel rather than have breakfast at the hotel. I liked the firm beds and rain shower feature. I would recommend this hotel.
VeroniqueSiegel, Directeur général at BEST WESTERN Monopole Metropole, responded to this review
Dear @Melissa_P ! Thank you very much for your rating and comment. Good to read that you have appreciated our location, service and facilities. The underground garage is definitely a hit, that needs to be booked in advance. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back for a next overstop or stay in Strasbourg and Alsace and wish you already a happy Easter! Warmest and BEST regards, Veronique Siegel, CEO

"Good location. Friendly Staff."
The hotel is in a good location. We used the underground parking at 12 euro a day. We parked outside and they took and parked the car. We walked everywhere once there. The front desk staff were very friendly. The room was fine. My only complaint is lack of electrical plugs. There was one next to one side of the bed, but you had to get on the floor to plug anything in. There was just one other plug right at the room door. No plugs in the bathroom. The shower had a rain shower type head and had great water pressure. The lighting in the bathroom was great for putting on make-up. There is a separate room for the toilet. Bed comfort was just ok. A little hard for my liking. There is a hot water cooker with tea and coffee and a small mini bar. The area was very quiet at night and the windows have the rolladens so you have the option of making the room very dark. Free wifi worked really well. The breakfast room is really nice. Lots of tables. They had 2 hot items each day. Cereal, sliced meats, cheese, yogurt, baquettes and some sweet breads from the Alsace region. A selection of 4 juices, water, coffee and hot tea. It was a pleasant stay. You can walk to the Cathedral in 10 minutes as well as Petite France. There are restaurants and bakeries all around.

Dear @Mgirrl, thank you very much for your review. I am glad that you spent an enjoyable stay with us. The room you were staying in will be totally refurbished in the coming months, as those are the latest one and, you're right some plugs are missing or need to be replaced on a better position. The lighting in the bathroom.... was designed by a woman, and is definitely thought for a correct make-up ;-). But I am sure it is also good to shave ! We are looking forward to welcoming you back again in Strasbourg and remain with BEST regards, Véronique Siegel, CEO
"Very good hotel :) "
We booked the room 2 months ago and got a very good price. The communication between the hotel staf and guest is great, they also have an app you can download to check in advance. They were also very kind and prebooked the garage for us, but in the end we did't need it so we let the other guests use it. The room was very warm, we had 406 on the last floor with a great view on the Strasbourg rooftops. The bed is very nice, we had such a good sleep there. The towels are also amazingly soft. The one thing that was a bit strange were the noises that came out of the toillete when someone else on the same floor used it. The breakfast was very good, a lot of choices and very yummy cheese and pastry. The location of the hotel is perfect, we saw the whole Strasbourg by foot because everything is so close to the hotel. We will definetly come again in the Summer.

"Right in the middle"
Made very welcome and made a fuss of. They allowed me to park the car in an underground car park and the rest was made very easy. |The room was large and very accommodating. They did not cater for dinner but recommended a close by restaurant which was fine. The hotel was busy but quiet and right in the centre of the city. Strasbourg is a most beautiful city and is a must to visit. There are many walks and things to go and do.

"Good enough, clean hotel, friendly staff, convenient location."
Lovely hotel close to the main train station as well as the main attractions. The staff at the reception are really friendly and was able to point us to the different Christmas Markets in Strasbourg on the map provided. The rooms are clean and spacious. The breakfast selection was plenty. Wifi signal in the rooms are free of charge and strong. There is also a huge lounge at the lobby with a bar, chess table and pool table. Another Best Western hotel at its finest.

"Neither here nor there "
Positives . Check in staff extremely helpful, knowledgeable, friendly and just very nice to deal with first thing after a long drive (thank you Cindy). . Exceptional cleanliness. . We reserved a car park online in advance. When we arrived we parked in front of the hotel and got our bags, a staff member then took the car to park in their underground car park. Bit narrow so let him do the driving! . Bathroom had a nice bath and shower over bath. . Small desk with one chair. . Effective block out shutters. . Small bar bridge, kettle, hair dryer, safe, plenty of power points. . Keyless entry. Given two swipe cards and a mock card for the light - very handy. . Complimentary instant coffee, sugar, creamer and tea bags (two of each). . Easy walk to the things you came to Strasbourg to see (500m from Petite France). . Average wifi . Very comfortable bed and although it's two singles beside each other, it was covered in such a way that you could snuggle without falling into the crack ? Negatives . Although the room has everything you need, it's a bit awkward. The desk chair is in the way of the bathroom door, the toilet and bathroom are separate, the closet doors once open give you no room to stand. Just little design issues like that which impact efficiency. . Noise, although the room itself is very isolated from outside noise, it's noisy on the inside. The floor squeaks and the bathroom and toilet fans go on by default if you switch on the light, their separate doors are also noisy and need wd40 so if one person gets up at night to use the toilet then the other person is woken up too. . Minimal toiletries, one mixed all purpose bottle, no individual soap, shampoo, conditioner, and not good quality, definitely BYO. Overall, this hotel is probably good value for its price in this area but personally, next time I think I'd rather pay a little bit more and stay somewhere a little bit nicer and closer to the centre.

Dear @mmatley, thank you for having taken the time to share your opinion regarding our hotel on Tripadvisor. Good to read that, all in all, you are satisfied with the value for money we offered and that you have appreciated the cleanliness of the room, the full Equipment, the nice bathroom and the warm welcome. Regarding the other points, I have been able to find out the room you were staying in (208). The room is 20m2, it is not a suite but it's already quite a large room for french standards. Yes, the fan goes on with the light in the bathroom and WC, which allows a good ventilation of both humid places. The toiletries are "minimalist" because we are committed to environment and certified with the European Ecolabel. So individual toletries are not allowed in the room, but are available on request at reception (a large wide of toiletries is available). "Top Notch stay!"
Small, busy lobby during our arrival. Manager checked us in. The friendly and professional manner she displayed is also evident in the rest of the hotel staff. Our family of 3 adults found our room to be small by American standards but fresh and modern in decor. Although the hotel lobby is small (and the elevator/lift was the smallest I have ever seen) the dining area for the inclusive breakfast, and 2 lounge areas were quite large. We enjoyed our 2 night stay and found the breakfast to be very delicious. I am gluten free and certainly enjoyed the basket of breads and sweet rolls I was provided each morning-Delicious! Location of hotel is perfect for walking to sites, restaurants etc. Paking is available for under 10€/day.

We hope that you had a nice and safe journey back hope and stay at your entire disposal. with BEST and warm regards, Véronique Siegel, CEO
"A little overrated"
I choose this hotel after much research and sadly found it a little overrated. It does not have any glaring issues, just lots of little things that only made it an ok stay. If I was to return to the stunning Strasbourg I would also look to stay in the older part of the town. Pros: - easy walk from the train station - easy walk to the old town and other sights Cons: - tiny, tiny rooms. The smallest room the we encountered during 4 weeks in Europe. We struggled to find room for two suitcases. - the view was onto the internal courtyard and other rooms which effectively meant that you needed to keep the curtains closed. - breakfast was average and slow to be replenished. - in room safe was not working on arriving and took several hours to remedy - receptionist kindly offered to prepare a list of restaurants open on Christmas Day. We never received this.
VeroniqueSiegel, Directeur général at BEST WESTERN Monopole Metropole, responded to this review
Dear @Melbourne-Aust, Thank you for your stay and for your review. We have different room categories and the comfort rooms are the smallest ones. The executive and deluxe room offer a wider space. I am sorry for the misunderstanding regarding the menus for Christmas Day. We had prepared a large choice of restaurants and menus and were waiting for you at the front desk to show you the selection and give you some explanations and advises. The room safes are electronic and if you have several tries it gets blocked and need an overcode to be unblocked. Only the 2 managers have the overcode (if everybody knows it... it can not be called safe anymore). I hope that you will reconsider staying with us if you come back to visit the stunning Strasbourg again and I stay personally at your entire disposal for any help I could provide. Don't hesitate to contact me directly at veronique.siegel@bw-monopole.com. BEST regards, Veronique Siegel, CEO
"Nice place"
The hotel is close to the Petite France, staff is very friendly and helpful. Rooms are quite ok , and the price reasonable. Parking was full when we got there, so we have to park at 300m from the hotel, since we did no need the car during our stay, wasn't so much hassle.

"Warm hospitality"
Unfortunately, the Chirstmas market in Strasbourg 2015 had been decided to closed earlier than our arrival and the staff had kindly noted me in advance. It was one of the highlights of our trip and my children were disappointed. However, thanks to their early notification,I had enough time to modify our plan to go to the Christmas market in Colmar instead (just 30 minutes by train away). After all, we could enjoy Colmar's Christmas market very much. They also offered to put our luggage in the hotel our way to Colmar earlier than checking time. It was very helpful. During my stay, I had a problem not to have French power plug and could not charge. I asked at the reception woman and she checked one by one from many varieties of plugs in the box. Finally she found an adapted one and borrow me. I could charge my cellular phone and tablet which were very important gadgets for my travel. The ambience of dining was very nice and pretty decorations of Christmas there. Abundant selection of dishes. Warm and cold dishes, spicy and mild cheese, warm-cold drinks, fruits... and so on. Just before my departure, I asked where to walk in the town for 3 hours and the reception woman showed me the route containing many highlights of Strasbourg. Thanks to her, we could walk around the old city efficiently and successfully with less time. I will apsolutely stay this hotel again and recommend my friends this reliable, warm, friendly and helpful hotel.

"Decent hotel in a good area"
Pros: Staff was very helpful with all the questions/requests we had. We got even recommendations where to eat etc. Good proximity to city center. Parking can be handled by someone else, interior garage. Cons: The entrance at the bathroom had a stair, so if not careful could be problems :) Wifi was working so and so. I personally felt that hotel was overpriced for what it offered, but maybe it was because of the date of travelling (23rd Dec). It is an Ok hotel, but maybe overpriced.

"great location in Strasbourg"
This hotel is perfectly located, far enough away from the restaurants and bars and close enough to the main railway station (10 minute walk) to make a great visit. We did a local free walking tour (which was given in English to just the three of us; tour is regularly given in French, and German also I believe). We were there during the Christmas markets, and it was fun to see the different markets in this very walkable city. Luckily, we were there to see the lights in the evening and also visited the markets during the day. The hotel had some problems with their internet access, but the helpful folks at the front desk were willing to let me use their computer for some important online work that could not wait. The room was very comfortable, and we would happily stay there again.

"Another pleasant visit"
This was our second visit to the hotel as members of a Rail Adventures party. Last year our room was a bit cold and impersonal. This year our room 115 was excellent. It was spacious with double bed, nice TV, large wardrobe, small settee/extra bed and a very large wet room bathroom suitable for wheelchair access. As well as tea-making equipment there was a wall-mounted steamer for heating a range of set meals that could be ordered from outside by a firm called Petits Plats. Another characteristic of the hotel is distinctly un-Gallic. The staff - front of house, bar and domestic - are consistently friendly and welcoming. There are plenty of smiles. We Brits expect French staff to be at least formal and most likely charmless and possibly rude as well. Nothing like that here. Wonderful staff. Breakfast is a bit crowded but overall this is a fine hotel. And very close to station, transport, shops and attractions.

The hotel is outside the old town but the place is convinient and you can visit the old town just walking . The hotel is quite , clean and cosy and the service is polite .The breakfast is a little bit poor and the quality of wifi very poor but the parking price very good.

"Good Location Near Train Station"
My husband and I stayed here for 1 night while traveling by train. We stayed at this hotel 2 years ago while on another train holiday. The hotel is a convenient 2 block walk from the train station and 1 block from the tram stop. We had an executive double room. The room and bathroom was large. There was a small sofa and laptop safe. The floors were laminate and ceramic tile. The bed was comfortable with good linens. I had a problem being able to access the wifi. I noticed another guest having the same problem when I went to the front desk to ask for help. I was not able to use the wifi during my stay and my droid phone said that it was unsecure. I would stay at this hotel if in the area due to the good location. Breakfast was good.

We stayed three nights in the Metropole. For me it was a return visit as I had stayed there earlier in the year on business. The hotel has friendly staff and is finished to a high standard. Location is perfect. It is afew minutes walk from the train station and about five minutes walk from the main sections of town on 'the island'. We enjoyed our stay very much and will return again next tme we are in Strasbourg.

Stayed at this property for 2 nights. The location was perfect for us: few minutes walk to the train station and the main sights of Strasbourg. Staff were friendly. Good Breakfast. "An excellent hotel that checks all the boxes"
We stayed 3 nights at the Best Western Hotel Monopole Metropole in Strasbourg. The location, the hotel itself, and the service of the staff exceeded all of our expectations and made for a comfortable and relaxing stay. We would highly recommend this hotel. The hotel is in a very convenient location, without being in the most central and busiest parts of town. The surroundings are safe, clean, and quiet. The hotel is about a 5-10 min walk from the Strasbourg-Ville train station, and 5-10 min to the historic part of Strasbourg (the cathedral, “Little France,” etc). It is nice you can walk to anywhere you need to go from the hotel. There are Best Westerns closer to the most central tourist areas, but the Monopole Metropole is the better choice because it is still within a short walking distance to the tourist areas but also safe, quiet, and much closer to the train station. The hotel itself is nicely decorated and well maintained. The lobby and dining areas are furnished with art and antique-style furniture. It has a classy hunting-lodge feel that felt warm and cozy, e.g. deer antler lights, billiard table, chess set, etc. The rooms, while on the small side, is immaculately clean and well-equipped. There was complimentary wifi (fast and reliable) and breakfast was included with our reservation. The breakfast was buffet-style, and while the selection is modest, everything on offer was delicious; we especially enjoyed the various French breads, cheeses, and deli meats. The staff are friendly and helpful. We received a warm welcome, were given a map of the city and some advice to help orientate us to the city. The staff at reception even made a phone call on our behalf to make reservations at a nearby restaurant. We were greeted with smiles each time we entered or left the hotel, and the restaurant and house-cleaning staff were similarly cordial and helpful. We really couldn't ask for more in terms of service. We loved the Best Western Hotel Monopole Metropole – despite being a three star hotel, it is fully deserving of all the excellent ratings it has received. This is one of the best non-luxury price range hotel that we have ever stayed at. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking to visit Strasbourg.

"Convenient"
I spend 3 nights at Best Western Monopole Metropole in Strasbourg. I was travelling with two friends from Luxembourg and getting off at the central railway station at Place de Gare, the hotel is just a 5-minute walk. While from the station to Entzheim Airport (SXB), it's just a 15-minute train ride. Very convenient. The hotel is also a few minutes away to Place Kléber where most bus lines are, and to the famous gothic "Cathédrale de Notre Dame" and "Palais des Rohan" (3 museums). Nearby one can take the mini river cruise "Batorama." It's also close to the historic district of "La Petite France." If you wish to visit the European Parliament and institutions, the nearest bus stop is just a 3-minute walk. Behind the hotel is a commercial center "Place des Halles" where one can take lunch including oriental food, and for other purchases like shoes, clothing and jewelry. The hotel staff is charming and ever-present. However, I booked for a triple- room but the one given to us was actually a double-room with an extra bed tucked right infront of the closet making it unuseable to hang our clothes. I must say room 124 is ideal for 2 persons but quite cramped for 3. The bathroom is fine except for the toilet bowl located in a tight corner. Wifi in the room was poor -slow and unstable. The dining area is large and stylish with the traditional alzatian decor. Breakfast was rich and of good quality. One day it rained and it was so nice there were black umbrellas in the lobby which the guest can take out.

"Great location -- nice hotel."
Came in on the TGV from Paris -- easy walk to the hotel. Room is spacious, good WIFI, coffee/tea setup, and super bathroom - large, excellent shower. Buffet breakfast is very good -- lots of tables in the breakfast room. Our room was on the courtyard side -- very quiet.

Dear @ret48 ! Thank you so much for your excellent review. I am glad to read that you have appreciated you room, bathroom and the buffet breakfast! It's so important to have a good start in the morning, especially before visiting the Christmas Market and sightseeing in the beautifull city of Strasbourg with its Christmas decrations. I hope that you had a safe journey back home and, if your roads bring you back in Strasbourg, we will be delighted to welcome you again :) ! With BEST and warm regards, Véronique Siegel, CEO
"perhaps we were unlucky"
We chose this hotel for its great reviews but the room we had was terrible . It overlooked a dirty internal courtyard , it certainly didn't look like the photos and the air conditioning was a total disaster, terribly noisy and didn't cool the room. The staff were mostly polite , particularly on arrival , although a lady on reception ' ignored' us when we needed something. It is worth booking the garage as there is nowhere to park nearby . The breakfast was fine, plenty of choice. It is within walking distance of Strasbourg which is a fabulous city.

"Very Pleasant Stay"
We were delighted with our stay at the Best Western. Very close to train station and Le Petit France and Cathedral. We loved our corner suite and the breakfast was fabulous! The staff was friendly and very helpful in accommodating our tandem bicycle.

"Great hotel with parking, but..."
A really good place to stay. Everything works well - properly quick wifi - breakfast was good and our room was smart, quiet and had a great bed. The hotel's really well positioned in central Strasbourg so that you can quickly get to all the interesting bits on foot. One very important point though: when the hotel staff offer to park your car, let them! The underground garage is really tight and has a very narrow, steep entrance. No problem for them but stressful for you.
VeroniqueSiegel, Directeur général at BEST WESTERN Monopole Metropole, responded to this review
Hello @outofbreath ! Thank you so much for your enthousiastic review. Your comments are very important to us. Regarding our underground garage, you're right to mention that we are pleased to park it for you if you don't feel like it.... speciallly if you are driving a rent-a-car which you are not used to ! We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back for a future stay in our nice region of Alsace and remain with BEST and warm regards, Veronique Siegel, CEO
"Bright Modern Rooms and a Quaint Breakfast Room"
We really enjoyed staying here because it was not too large and not too small. There are many rooms that open into a courtyard and they are big windows. The lobby is very sleek and modern with an adjacent sitting area that is modern looking but only decorated with antiques. It's kind of nice actually. The breakfast area is a big seventeenth century banquet hall furnished with antiques, many of which will remind Americans of Pennsylvania Dutch and Williamsburg things. The rooms are big bright and airy decorated with color blocks and modern furniture. Plenty of room for suitcases. (And on the 'second floor' American-style or 'first level' European, you can slip out from your room onto the courtyard for a smoke. Or so I would imagine) Lounge full of antiques with better Wi-Fi. • Wi-Fi isn't great in the rooms, but there is a lounge near the modem. • Not Near Shopping but near many restaurants. Le Kuhn is fantastic. • Big Breakfast with great coffee (strong) • Desk Attendance was constant and very helpful and patient • View was great into the courtyard compared to most hotels, but there isn't much for you to look at on the outer rooms. • Accessibility: small elevator but completely accessible. • Duvet or Sheet • Windows Open • Night-Time Darkness if you close the heavy drapes • Extra pillow • Bed Firm • Area around Bed was plentiful • Lighting was good during the day and in bed for reading, but not so great in the middle of the room at night. • Tea tray was typical but they also had this new thing where there is a steamer in your room and you can buy complete meals in the lobby. You steam them in the room which is much better than a microwave, of course. The selections were very elegant and priced at regular restaurant levels; €12-27. • Bar is in the lobby and attended by the desk clerks, but there isn't any delay. There are some very comfy modern sitting places there, as well as the big antique decorated lounge • Bathroom was fairly large with a … • Shower in a wet room • Storage shelves plentiful • Toiletries were good • Toilet paper strong • Toilet comfort was good

"Good Hotel in Great Location"
We've just come back from a 3 night stay here. Hotel is easy to find just a 5 min walk from the station and 10 mins to the catherdal and Petite France. No traffic noise at night, even with the window open. Rooms are a decent size and bed very comfortable. Buffet breakfast was good with a good selection of both hot and cold food, and restaurant never seemed too busy. Staff are all friendly and helpful, and it was nice to come back in the evenings to have a drink in the lounge.

"Good value for money in a nice 3 star hotel!"
This a very cosy, quiet and traditional Alsatian hotel offering comfortable rooms and a well served breakfast. Staff was very helpful and friendly. You can also use the car garage for a very reasonable day price. The only minus is the non-existent curtain in the shower, the bathroom floor tends to be all wet. But anyway, it is definitely a place to stay.

"Simple but good hotel."
I couldn't get another night extension on my hotel room at Hotel Maison Rouge and stayed here for the one extra night. While this is rated 3 stars compared to Hotel Maison Rouge, I thought the room here was in a better condition than the room I got at Hotel Maison Rouge. The room was spacious with a large bathroom and you can see the room has been renovated. Included in my room rate was breakfast which was served in a quaint dining room. The breakfast had a nice variety - from hot to cold dishes. The dining room was spotless. Check in was very efficient and quick. Overall my stay here was pleasant and if I was back in Strasbourg would definitely book a room here. While the hotel was not in the old town, it was within a short walk (10 minutes). The main train station was near this hotel.

"Fantastic!"
Cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. Perfect location in easy walking distance from rail station and to cathedral, petite france etc. stayed for two nights with my grandparents (80 yr old) and my husband and we all loved this hotel. Staff were so so polite and helpful and all spoke perfect English. Fantastic restaurant just down the road called Kuhn, (see separate review) and a great patisserie just around the corner. The free breakfast in this hotel was plentiful and the pool table and bar helped us occupy ourselves in the evenings one the 'oldies' had gone to bed! Can't wait to go back to this hotel, hopefully for the Christmas markets in December.

"Great hotel great place"
On the 8th leg of our September trip we stayed at the Best Western Hotel Monopole Metropole in Strasbourg in France, We found the hotel o k and are car was parked by a very polite hotel porter he also carried our luggage to the room, the reception staff were very helpful and nice as were the bar staff, The hotel is very comfy and clean and the breakfast was of a high standard , The hotel is in the city centre so there is lots of good restaurants in walking distance, I would definitely recommend this hotel.

"Good location for train traveller"
Easy 10 min walk from train station. Exit main entrance, cross park, down street to left of busy street on the right. Nice clean room, good access to local sites and many restaurants and coffee shops in area. Had room on front side over main entrance - noise not a problem. Large dining room with large selection for breakfast. Friendly, helpful staff. Free wifi, ATM close by. Would stay here again especially if train traveller.

"A Great City Break"
We spent three nights here to visit this lovely city. The hotel is in a very quiet location just five minutes walk from the Petit France area and all the main city attractions. The room was very comfortable and the breakfast excellent. It was our first visit to Strasbourg and the audio-guide available from the Tourist Office to tour of the city is highly recommended - it took us all afternoon and was very informative. If we were visiting again we would certainly stay here.

"Would recommend it- definitely!!!"
What a pretty foyer- small and old fashioned and done up so tastefully. Excellent staff -especially Veronique. We spent one night in Strasbourg and were happy with the room in the hotel. Small but neat and very nice bathroom. Most importantly they spoke in English and that was a great help!

"Highly Recommend"
We stayed two nights, one week apart, and both times very positive experience. Pleasant staff, nice rooms, not all rooms are the same, one;k;k time we had a tub and other stay we did not. One negative is the height of the tub. I am fairly agile and it was a bit of a struggle to get in and out. When making a reservation keep this in mind. One morning we had to catch a bus to Frankfurt, at 6:15, and asked if they could have a small breakfast ready for us before heading out and they did provide this for us. The breakfast buffet is superb. The buffet doesn't open until 6:00. A side note----Check out the restaurant Le Kuhn a couple blicks away. Quality of food outstanding, prices reasonable and service excellent. S

The staff hotel was very helpfull and pleasant. The hotels position was great as well as you are very close to the historic centre (15min. Walk) and still good take off place for driving around the Alcase region and the Black forest in Germany. We would definetely visit again!!!

"Well placed & well run"
Just a hop and a skip from the station, this hotel is handy for arriving by train and within a short walk of most of the old town sites. A very friendly welcome, comfy room and excellent breakfast make this a great choice for Strasbourg. What's not to like?

"Excellent choice"
This is a very warm friendly modern hotel located right in the center of Strasbourg within a walking distance to the train station and most of the places of interest. The hotel is on the one way street. It is a bit of a challenge to find it at first but after a few circling around we finally found the entrance. The reception staff was very friendly. They speak 3-4 languages each and always seemed eager to help with any question we had. Rooms are very well appointed. We stayed in the king room with two sofas. It was enough for 4 people. Bathroom was super small but clean and with a great shower. Breakfast is what won us all. It was a buffet style with high quality products and way above typical continental fare. We would highly recommend the hotel to anyone and would stay here again.

"Good hotel for a stay in Strasbourg"
Best Western Monopole Metropole is a good hotel choice if you arrive at Strasbourg by train (no parking if you arrive by car), at less than 10 minutes of walk. The hotel personnal was friendly and professionnal and they took care of our luggages (we left them to the reception because we arrived too early and they put them in our room without we have to ask).. The room was modern, enough large for us and well equiped, with a very good wifi. For the hotel location, it was easy to go everywhere at Strassbourg by walk or by tramway (10 min of walk from "Ponts Couverts", 15-20 min of walk from Cathedral, a lot of restaurants between these points). The breakfast was good enough for us, with some fresh fruits, some choices of juice, coffee, bread, meats, cheeses, cereals and some hot dishes (2-3 choices, max). Not the best breakfast, but enough to start a day of visit. We really enjoyed our stay in this hotel and Strassbourg was a must in our european trip.
VeroniqueSiegel, Directeur général at BEST WESTERN Monopole Metropole, responded to this review
Dear @Aingell ! Thanks a lot for your nice review and I am glad to read that Strasbourg was a "must" of your european trip. "Very satisfactory stay"
Right from our arrival it was a very positive experience. The receptionist was very helpful, and a man drove our car into the garage. Good, clean room. Discount vouchers for sightseeing by river boats. Very good breakfast next morning. While we went sightseeing our luggage was stored in a room, free of charge. Excellent service. Carl

We stayed 2 nights here and were very pleasantly surprised, we initially choose the hotel due to the location, close by the train station as this was how we arrived into Strasbourg. The rooms were clean and nicely decorated. The staff were very friendly and went out of their way to say 'bonjour' to our two little kids. Would stay here again and recommend to friends or family.

"Bed bugs - punaises de lit - chinches - bettwanzen - cimici"
Unfortunately there's no way around what would be a zero rating, if Trip Advisor offered that option. When we first entered the room there was an unusual odor that I could not identify. But having been in hundreds of hotel rooms over the years, with lots of different odors, I just sort of filed it away in my brain. I noticed during the night that it was stronger around the pillows (which, by the way, were really lumpy and felt deteriorated as I squeezed them through the pillow case). The next morning we exchanged the pillows at the desk, but while we were out sightseeing I noticed what I thought were mosquito bites on my arm, though we had not seen any mosquitoes so far. Later, back in the room, it registered with me that the odd odor was greatly reduced, which I attributed to the pillow exchange. But when I woke up the next morning and got out of bed, I saw two things: 3 bugs crawling across the sheets, and more bites on my arm and torso. I fired up my iPad, went to Wikipedia and read up on bed bugs. Clearly that's what the insects on the bed were, that's where the bites on my body had come from, and, as it turns out, the bugs were also the source of the strange odor. We went to the desk, showed them the evidence and checked out of the hotel. I give the desk staff (and the manager) credit for quickly accepting responsibility and for not charging us for the second night (though they should have waived charges for both nights). They went out of their way to help us with our bags (we had segregated the clothes we had worn there so we could sterilize them later). But at the same time, it's clear to me that the infestation in our bed (and pillows) must have been there for a long time, given the odor that was strongly present. I assume their housekeeping staff had not been trained on watching for bed bugs, had not pursued the odor, and certainly had not been taking care of the rotting pillows. Even without the bed bugs, though, I have to say that this is not a great hotel. It's a large establishment in a gritty neighborhood near the train station. We had to park our car at the station and then walk about a half mile back and forth to the hotel. While the room is large enough, with a big bathroom as well, the tub/shower is absolutely treacherous. The tub is elevated off the floor, slippery and narrow, with no grab bar for entering and exiting when showering. It would be very easy to slip and fall in this tub. Also, the bathroom floor is raised above the level of the sleeping area, so in the dark at night it would be easy to trip while entering the bathroom. Finally, regarding the bathroom, there is no counter for toiletries, despite the ample floor space. We had breakfast at the hotel both mornings and I would call it marginal. It's a very crowded breakfast room, with limited food selections. The meat choices disappeared almost as soon as they were brought out, and then there would be a long wait before the platters were replaced. Staffing is obviously short, with many tables remaining uncleared while guests kept coming in to eat. There are a handful of pluses for the room which, however, don't offset the minuses. Unlike many European hotels, this one does have a regular closet rather than an armoire taking up scarce floor space. That left room for a couch and a small fridge. The room was air conditioned - a real plus in the 99 degree (37 C.) August heat. There was also an electrically operated sunshade over the window, which was welcome with the hot sun that rose early in the morning and set late in the evening.
VeroniqueSiegel, Directeur général at BEST WESTERN Monopole Metropole, responded to this review
Dear Sir, As previously expressed here at the hotel, and after per emails and phone, again, please accept my deepest apologies. As you know, your case was an isolated case which occurred in one room and on one day. It does not reflect the situation of the 81 rooms on an everyday basis. The room you were staying in was continuously occupied in the weeks before your stay and no insect was detected. The pest-control employee who went on site on the same morning has qualified it as a light contamination, which happened short time before (he said). He has treated the room totally and immediately. All rooms were checked and especially those next to yours. I have been personally sleeping in the room as a first guest to make sure it was ok. This is not a problem of cleanliness or hotel category. The insects travel with the guests and are brought in the luggage. The housekeeping staff is regularly trained and informed and, thanks to the hard work they do, your case is isolate. I am very sorry about this terrible experience and I apologize for the inconveniences. Also, I regret the different new issues you are writing about on tripadvisor now. Our customer-relation manager France and I stay at your entire disposal for any further help or question. With BEST regards, Veronique Siegel
"Great stay"
Wonderful hotel, centrally located with very accommodating staff. Christian at the front desk is an extremely helpful and accommodating staff member. "A very nice hotel, Good old style and perfectly placed in the city"
Extremely nice and helpfull staaf. Old style hotel with a perfect situation in the city. I got a very nice room in old Alsac style. they have a little bar in the hotel. You just walk 2 blocks and you are in the inner city, ýou walk 3 minutes more and you are at the bíg department store Gallerie Lafayette, i you not prefer to stop somewhere at the way for a beer or a glass of good wine.

"Monopole-Metropole"
We stay at the Monopole-Metropole every year when visiting Strasbourg. Everyone at the hotel is so welcoming and we are already looking forward to our next visit. The location is convenient for the city centre and the railway station. The rooms are very comfortable and the buffet breakfast is excellent.

Dear @Isabelle_J ! Good to read that you have spent an enjoyable time in our hotel. Thank you for your feedback ! You're right, our underground garage is very convenient in the city center. Don't forget to reserve it in advance for your next stay also. The number of places is limited... We are looking forward to welcoming you back again for a next stay in Strasbourg and wish you an enjoyable spring time, BEST regards, Veronique Siegel, CEO
"Nice hotel"
Nice hotel, convenient to the train station and the center of town, quiet, and a good value. This hotel is better than the ones that are right next to the train station. If you want something with a lot of nightlife, this probably isn't for you, but great for a business traveler.

Dear @Andrew_T ! Thanks a lot for your very positive review and for recommending our hotel for business travellers. You're right, night-clubs and bars are not directly in our street, which makes it quiet :) ! I hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back for a next stay in Strasbourg, even for leisure, maybe a short-break in our very romantic city ?! Very BEST regards, Véronique Siegel, CEO
"Great Nights in Paris"
My wife and I spent our first trip to Strasbourg at this Best Western and could not have been more pleased. Staff at all levels were very friendly and helpful. The provided breakfast was excellent with a wide variety of foods both hot and cold and everything in the hotel was very clean and orderly. Even the bed was very comfortable in light of a difference between American and European mattresses which tend to be thin foam on a platform compared to full size mattress and box spring sets. Location was also perfect for our trip as we were only a few blocks (walking distance) from the train station.
