I am giving 4 stars for the room/service because basic amenities like having proper towels in the room is important. We were told the towels were unavailable, which is not acceptable for a 4 star hotel. Otherwise, location wise this is one of the best hotels in Strasbourg.
Me and my wife checked into this hotel after 9days travelling France, Germany and Austria and have had the most wonderful stays. Unfortunately the same could not be said for this hotel. On our first morning of our 2 night stay we were woken up at 7am by very loud construction right outside the window. I called up and asked to move rooms, I was told I would get a call back but I didn't so I went to reception and was told ‘ oh yeah I did write that down somewhere but this is not possible' so we stayed for 2 nights with a very early wake up. The towels also had blood on them but again the reception seemed dismissive. As we were checking out we asked to leave our luggage and the receptionist just left it by reception and did not give us a ticket which I thought seemed odd. When we got back to collect our bags other people had their luggage locked away in a luggage room but ours was just left at reception still. I also overheard someone who checked into our room ask to move due to construction noise and was moved straight away with an apology, completely different treatment to what we experienced. I felt we were just treated differently and whenever we raised an issue it was just dismissed. I would think we were being sensitive if I didn't see how others were being treated and that they couldn't help others enough. The only good thing we found to this hotel was the location by the station and the big comfy beds. I mostly definitely will not return to this hotel. I have never ever felt so unwelcome as I did at this hotel. I will return to this beautiful city but to a different hotel next time. Tip do not stay in room 509 I will attach photos, you won't be able to see outside due to the fogged windows they only have the top window visible but you can't see anything unless you stand on the window frame.
I really liked the hotel. The room is spacious and very clean. The location is perfect, with many café shops, a few grocery stores, many small restaurants, and bars. Metro stop is around the corner, convenient to get around. The manager of the hotel is so kind and friendly. The room rate is very reasonable. Highly recommended. I will stay there again in the future.
positive: the staff, comfy bed, position near central station negative: the room was not clean, they tell us they don't have the large towel but i saw it in the cleaning staff stuff. they didn't rifill cups, glasses and tea or coffee in the room. no additional benefit as a plantinum member
Great room, great location near the train station and near town. We were delighted and will use the hotel again if we come to Strasbourg. Very comfortable We enjoyed Strasbourg and found being in Alsace to be fun and a good experience. Should you want a burger I'd recommend Empire Steak
Excellent hotel, great location just across from the station. The staff were friendly smart hotel our room was clean tidy, spacious and air conditioned. Loved the decor, Breakfast was a good selection buffet from continental to cooked items. Great location for exploring Strasbourg recommend visiting Petite France. The hotel also has the oldest lift in Strasbourg which is a fun addition.
The hotel was close to almost everything we wanted to see and do. It was also very conveniently located to the train station. Room was decent and comfortable. Breakfast was good too. The only dampener for us, and this was a prerequisite for us with a baby, was the housekeeping or lack thereof - we almost had to plead for it each day. The first day we left the room fairly late around 12:30pm and would have normally notified the reception but the room directly opposite to us was getting cleaned just as we were leaving so we just left the “make up my room” sign on the door. When we got back late afternoon the room wasn't made up. The lady at the reception offered to bring us toiletries and fresh towels. I politely refused and asked for the room to be made up. We went out for an hour while the room got cleaned. The next day we left our room close to 11am and still I made sure to let the reception know that we needed the room made up. When we got back in the evening, surprise surprise, the room was in the same state we'd left it in. The lady at the reception again offered to bring up toiletries as apparently the housekeeping staff had left for the day. The supervisor finally was able to allocate us a different room, it was inconvenient to pack up and change rooms after a tiring day out but we'd rather this than be in the same room. For us this was the only sore point but the most important factor in deciding to stay in a hotel room versus a more spacious Airbnb as we were new parents and badly needed the little luxuries. It was a tad bit annoying that the lady at the reception quite unapologetically kept offering us toiletries first and needed us to insist with our request each time.
Good standard of accommodation- great shower, nice room, good selection at self- service breakfast. We enjoyed a one night stay as part of a tour through France. Strasbourg has a lot to offer, feeling safe with lots of attractions. Some lovely restaurants especially near the cathedral and Petit France area. We wished we had more time here. Make the effort to go out and explore.
Enjoyed our stay here. Parked in station car park a short walk away. Hotel is nicely decorated and air conditioned, a joy in recent heat wave. Room was lovely, cleaned well each day. Great location to explore Strasbourg, a short 15min walk into the centre. We ate once in restaurant, it was quiet on that day but the food was good and the waitress, who was there every day was really lovely and friendly. Receptionists were also very nice. We loved the old lift!!
Average maybe 3.5 star hotel at best. Rooms are ok and functional. Rooms small. Bathroom was poorly designed. Cupholder practically above the toilet which raised hygiene concerns for us! So we did not use the glass. Shower also badly designed. Noise from the bathroom, assume electronics, very loud so disturbed my sleep. But the worst was the breakfast. Completely self service so no one taking drinks orders or even allocating seating. Quality of food was poor. Hardly any fruit. They had a few grapes and oranges and an anaemic looking fruit salad. I could not eat the bacon, sausages or scrambled eggs. Each were either stone cold, overcooked or weird tasting. Or all three! I ended up with a small bowl of muesli as the only decent option. Oh, and finally, cleanliness was an issue! Our glasses were dirty and one even had lipstick on it!!! Thankfully we only stayed one night.
Don't let the fact that this is a Best Western fool you - this is a lovely hotel! Definitely much more upscale than the Best Westerns in the U.S. The location of the hotel could not be beat: just a block or so from the train station exit, so if you are arriving/departing by train this is exactly where you would want to be situated. It is an easy 8 minute walk to Petit France, and maybe 5-15 minutes anywhere else in the old town. Strasbourg itself is nice, but didn't wow us - I would say 1-2 days is plenty there, but it is a cute town. As far as the hotel, we booked a king suite and it did not disappoint. It was a great size for our party of 3. Beds were comfortable with nice linens; robes and Nespresso machines provided; the bathroom was huge and well appointed with separate shower and tub. We had a rate with breakfast included and it was decent, with lots of breads, meats, cheeses, muesli, cereals, fruit, cappucino machine, juices. It was not possible for us to check in early because the room was not ready, but it was ready at the 4pm time at which it was promised. People working there are pleasant and helpful. We would not hesitate to stay here again if we return to Strasbourg.
We stayed here for 3 nights and would stay again. It is literally just over the road from the railway station. Check-in was straightforward. The downside is there is absolutely nowhere to put clothes. No cupboards or shelves so don't take a lot of luggage. Housekeeping could be improved. Each day on our return we had to contact reception for items not replenished. This is the reason I gave 4 stars It is a lovely hotel and I believe it has been refurbished. Everywhere was very clean.
Very small rooms. You 'd better travel without any luggage because there's place only for you or your luggage in the room. Definetely not a four-star hotel. There was no gluten free options for breakfast. . The location is good though.
This hotel has been recently renovated and was a great value for the rate we paid. We chose a king suite which had plenty of space. There were also modern amenities and great lighting. The only minor issue was that we could not control the thermostat. However, all we had to do was call the front desk and they immediately adjusted the temperature via Bluetooth. The breakfast was just ok. The location is across from the train station (which is both a good and bad thing). However, the hotel is just a 15 minute stroll from the Cathedral, Petite France, and many other sights. I would definitely recommend this hotel to others who visit Strasbourg.
Location: just across from train station plaza, and Carrefour City and La Gare'Mandise Boulangerie are very close. Rooms: fully modernized hotel and rooms. Tiny rooms but the beds were comfy. The bathtub was big and relaxing. Lalique shower amenities were a great touch. Staff were attentive and helpful. Strasbourg is a lovely city and shopping here is way more relaxing than Paris.
Very nice Hotel! The personal was very kind, helpful and multilingual. The hotel is centrally, near everything you'll need. The lobby is wonderful and especially the old elevator makes the difference. The rooms are very clean, with everything you'll need for your stay and the best part ist the bathroom! Take a shower, believe me it's worth it!!
We stayed for 3 nights during December and felt like we got a great deal on the nightly rate for the quality. The hotel is perfectly located near the train station (which is a perfectly nice area). We had a lovely room overlooking the park and enjoyed watching the snow fall from our Juliet balcony. The room was cosy and comfortable. The only issue was the water in the shower was not overly hot, so we needed to use the hand shower over the bath. Our room was also not available until after check in time. The restaurant is nice and there is a secret(?) bar down the stairs behind the elevator! A good find!
We had a short stay in Strasbourg. This is hotel literally a 2 minute walk as you exit the train station. Our original room was a "accessible" room which was NOT what we had reserved. Alexanderos at the front desk was kind enough to change our room to a top floor with a view of of the main square. Everything was as expected. The ONLY odd thing about the room was the lack of a handle on the bathroom door and the the door opened to the outside! Not normal. There was just a groove alongside the door edge. Made it hard to pull the door to open toward the inside of the room. PLEASE install door handles. The staff was always attentive and helpful especially Alexandros.
Stayed here 2 nights during a business trip. Good location because it's a 10 minutes walk to the heart of the city. There's also a parking garage in the area and you get a discounted rate if you stay at the hotel. My room was good with all amenities provided. Breakfast was good with enough choice. Staff was friendly and I loved the beautiful old elevator! Would go there again for business or pleasure.
Hotel is well located next to the train station and very close to the Old Town. It has been beautifully and fully refurbished - both common areas as well as the rooms. All spaces are nice and stylish. Room was small but comfortable. Cleainess cpuld be improved though (details like remote control or lamps, etc). Front desk staff very kind. The biggest downside of the place was breakfast - very disappointing. At 9:45 in the morning the only veggie left were 2 cocktail tomatos and the staff in the restaurant refused to bring any more. Variety of products small. Taking into account the price of the room and all above mentioned assets, I do recommend this hotel and I would definitely stay there again.
Situated in the bustling centre of Menilmontant, the hotel is looked after with care, as is its patrons. The owner amd his family was so warm towards my fiancee and l. There are so many great restaurants and bars right on the doorstep. The rooms are simple but immaculately clean, and for the price and location, this hotel is unbeatable on a budget in Paris. I highly recommend.
Convenient location: The hotel is opposite the train station, tram is just minutes away, restaurants, shops and S/M's around in the neighborhood. You can even walk to the center (the cathedral square) and stunning “Petite Venise” in 15'-20'. (Don't miss a free visit to the European Parliament). The hotel staff was very polite and helpful. I really appreciated the fact that they allowed us one hour late checkout for free as our train was leaving in the afternoon. The room was very clean with a fridge and kettle for coffee making. The decoration was beautiful. The bathroom was really spacious with a bathtub and the most powerful hair dryer I have ever seen in a hotel room. There are also many sockets in the room and usb charger next to each bed which I consider very important for a traveler. If I return to the really beautiful city of Strasbourg, I will surely stay at Hôtel des Vosges! (Dates of accommodation: 20-23/04/22).
We stayed here for 2 night and would definitely stay again. the hotel and staff are great. The hotel is very near the train station if traveling by train. The room was very clean not big but plenty of space, the shower was great with a rain head shower. The staff were always friendly and willing to help with recommendations and suggestions. We had a very good stay and would use the hotel again.
We had a great time in this hotel in our family get together. Great value for money, with a excellent suite suite for 3 people. Front desk super nice :) Good breakfast and amazing service! Definitely recommend
Very comfortable and quiet rooms at a perfect location close to the city center with reasonably priced parking in a nearby safe parking garage (11Eur per 24h). The staff was extremly friendly at this newly opened charming and fresh hotel. Highly recommended!
This is a very good choice for travelers on a budget, like myself. A simple, but very clean hotel with friendly staff. As I booked online, my breakfast was included, a basic, but sufficient offering of a baguette with butter or jam, along with coffee, tea or hot chocolate. There's also a number of places to eat nearby. (I ate at Au Poulet Braise, a chicken centered restaurant where you can dine in or take out.) Also, there is a Franprix grocery store across the street. The hotel is located in Menilmontant in the 20th arrondissement, but the metro stop is about two blocks away and you can easily get downtown from there. You should be aware that there is no elevator, and the stairs to the upper floors are winding and somewhat steep...so not for the mobility impaired. My room was relatively spacious, by Parisian standards, and I was able to sleep well, as it wasn't noisy. (My room overlooked an interior air well, not the street.) All in all, a real value, and one I recommend!
Do you want to stay somewhere and experience real Paris? You won't find a tour bus stopping here. It is clean and it is affordable. It is also spacious. The wifi worked. There was a tv and a shower. The neighborhood is a bit sketchy, but there were people everywhere so it was fine. The owners may not speak English as per other commenters. I don't know. As I speak French, it was fine. They were nice. You could probably manage with an easy translation app. It isn't like you are going to discuss much with them anyway so don't let that keep you away. The staircase is definitely unique and challenging so if you have mobility issues, you will need to reconsider. They do help with your luggage though. I will stay here again if I return. Basic French breakfast is provided and it's fine, but we took advantage of the pastry places since we don't get to France much. Restaurants and grocery stores in very close proximity. The bed was a little hard so if you need a plush bed, maybe not your joint.
The hotel is simple but I and my family had a pleasant and confortable stay there. The rooms are very clean. Good bad. Excellent shower. The breakfast is very simple but okay. The location is an highlight, 3 minutes walking to the subway (line 2) and all facilities around, including markets, restaurants, Mac Donalds, KFC, laundery. Twice a week, there is a interesting fair with food, fruits and stuffs, just in front of the hotel. The staff from the hotel are really professional, friendly and helpfull. We recommend a lot this hotel.
For the position (close to metro station, in one of the Arrondissements) it is definetely one of the cheapest hotel you can find. The receptionists (who are the owners, I guess) don't really speak English (as most French people do) but are very nice and kind, always available to meet your requests. The simple breakfast includes tea/coffe/milk (even with chocolate) with half baguette, on which you can spread butter and marmalade. The rooms are spartan but adequate. In the bathroom, they change towels every day (only one per person) but there is no shampoo nor shower gel, so bring your own. I found some hair under the "pillow" (apparently you're not supposed to move it from under the sheets), so that's the main reason of the three stars instead of four.
Simple but cleaned every day, just changing sheets once a week if you don't request, I guess. Hot water all day, breakfast is too simple but you can add cheese or another thing from near by market.. if you want. Staffs were very kind and helpful. When we ask for hot water for drink, they soon gave us a kettle. Wifi situation was somtimes not so good but it was Okey, disconnecting for a bit short time and reconnected again soon. Not good idea for staying at hot summer time because no air conditoner and opening window all night may cause unsafety, noise and of course mosquito.. Just Mosquito was a big problem for us during our stay at the end of September!
