Nice reception. Clean and attractive hotel throughout to include the room. Very comfortable. Breakfast was good with a nicely seasoned omelette, functioning espresso and other coffee drinks machine. Would stay again. Even though I arrived late night, reception person was kind.
We stopped at the BW in Santa Cruz, only to find out that they were not pet friendly. The guest relations gentleman suggested that I check out the BW in Scott's Valley which was about 15 minutes away. Much to my surprise, when we checked out the next morning, lo and behold there was the rep that made out reservation the from Santa Cruz hotel! Room was great and the Jack next door had fair food.
Simply awful. Avoid this hotel at all costs. Others nearby at the same price point much better. Rooms are unclean and smell, as does the lobby and breakfast are. Terrible location and unsafe for families. Left within 12 hours of checking in.
A very good stay. We were here for 3 nights while attending a wedding in Scotts Valley. The person at the reception desk was kind, welcoming, and efficient. She let us choose the location of our room. This hotel has a motel-like feel to it as all the rooms have doors to a common outside walkway. Even with this, the facility felt safe. The free breakfast was very good. Lots to select from, hot breakfast, cereal, baked goods. They had one of those multi hot drink dispensers for different coffee drinks and hot water for tea. The breakfast area was neat and clean. The hotel room itself was clean and comfortable. A very basic room, but everything you would need - luggage rack, iron, blow dryer. The TV was smaller. Having a pool and spa onsite was great. The pool was clean and the pool area furnished with nice tables and chairs. In general, this is a very well kept property.
I had an incredibly disappointing stay at the Best Western Plus Inn Scotts Valley. The HVAC unit in my room was broken and was blowing hot air, making it impossible to get a good night's sleep. I notified the staff five times and tried troubleshooting, but nothing worked. The room also smelled of pets, which added to the discomfort. I ended up sleeping in my car due to the heat, even with the window wide open, as there was no air circulation. The next day, a technician came by and claimed the HVAC was working fine after spending just a couple of minutes checking it. However, as soon as he left, the unit continued to blow both cool and hot air intermittently. If he had waited a few more minutes, he would have seen it shutting down and blowing out heat again. This was the worst night's stay I've ever had. I hope the management addresses these issues for future guests. #Travel #HotelReview #BestWestern #Disappointed
This hotel was disappointing. The furniture was dusty. The windows were dirty. The breakfast room tables were dirty. The worker who was supposed to clean the tables was having a social conversation wearing a headset while we were having breakfast. I had to get the manager to tell the worker to hang up the phone and clean the tables. The furniture in the room is old and dingy. The bed was not very comfortable. There is a strong odor of bleach in the room. The bathroom was the best part-it had been redone so everything in there was modern and clean. This hotel needs that kind of upgrade overall. The manager was nice, but there must be something missing in how they train employees in guest relations. There are not many choices for hotels in Scott's Valley. I took a chance on this one, and was disappointed. We are members of the Best Western loyalty program. Other properties by Best Western have been sufficient for our needs.
I Stayed in room 209 . Two huge black stains on the carpet entry area. The interior of the front door had large black grime marks on it . Those could have been cleaned off of it with a little soap, water , and elbow grease. Toilet made horrendous noise for 45 second each time it was flushed . Horrible to hear that noise anytime , let alone between midnight and 6 am. Ten channels of the 58 channels had no sound and the picture would fade away after a few seconds. Coffee maker did not work at breakfast and one patron said had not worked for three straight days. Not much on the menu; much superior food selection at the Best Western in Los Gatos, only about 15 miles away . One bright spot : the pool was clean.
Front desk staff need to be reminded that without customers they would not have a job. Don't make customers feel that they are a nuisance.
We stayed at this Inn as it is in the vicinity of Henry Cowell Redwoods. Our room was just adequate. It was fairly quiet and comfortably earth-toned. A good number of outlets were provided and the WiFi was functional. The air conditioning worked well. Beds were so-so and pillows definitely uncomfortable. Blinds didn't quite close at the bottom. There was no particular view from room. The shower was not great. Counter space on the sink was limited and the hair dryer outlet was right next to the coffee so, ugh. There were no towel racks by sink, only in separate toilet/shower area, so one needed to lay them on the counter which was not ideal. Erika at the desk was pleasant and was helpful providing a Best Western phone number but failed to mention that they had an elevator (hidden away near pool) so we lugged suitcases up stairs. Not fun. I had more than enough Best Western points to cover our stay but was unable to figure out how to apply them through the Best Western site, by calling hotel in advance, or in person. No one at the Inn seemed to know how points are redeemed.
I love to stay at Best Westerns because I feel like I get the most bang for my buck. This Best Western was clean and comfortable. The breakfast could have used more of a variety of fresh fruit but otherwise, a pretty good selection. Great access tot he freeway- easy off and on.
This is the 4th time weve stayed here. The beds are comfortable. There are plenty of pillows. The shower has good pressure. The tv has all the stations you could want including ESPN. The bedside lamps have charger hookups. The towels are plush. Beautiful pool and complete fitness room. Adequate breakfast withplenty of coffee and juice options. Im sure we will stay here again. As seniors only wishes would be for higher toilets and better bathroom lighting for makeup, hair, and shaving in future stats. Staff are all friendly, capable, and accommodating.
During my time in Best Western, I received an excellent service since the reception and the amenities. Clean Pool and jacuzzi for my kids. Breakfast everything OK. Definitely recommends the hotel for pleasure and vacations time.
It seems unfortunate when upon request staff did not take out trash or deliver clean linens. I stayed multiple days and trash was taken out after two days and multiple requests. I did ever get a clean bathmat even though I explained that someone had been sick, and it was soiled.
Great. Clean. Very friendly stuff. I come here and stay here every week, for work. Great people. Good breakfast. The stuff is willing to help. They listen and make your stay more enjoyable. Will be coming back
I arrived shortly after 3pm check in. I was told my room was not ready and needed to be cleaned and it would be 30 minutes. I returned 45 minutes later and they had not even began to clean the room according to the rude receptionist.. She said it would be 30 min more. I watched the cleaners in other rooms... not my room. I came back 30 min later and was told the room was not ready yet and because I ordered a suite and they only had one suite was a factor. I was told it would be an additional 20 min. Really? After 20 min I returned to the check in and was told it would be 10 min or so. I communicated my frustration to the receptionist that they had not started cleaning my room even though I was there waiting. She became defensive when I told her it was 1.5 hours after check in and she said no it wasnt. I told her to look at the time and she then agreed it had been 1.5. hours I was waiting for the room I was paying for. When the room was eeady she basically threw the key at me with no apology . I asked yer if the stairs was the only way up to my room., she said YES. I lugged my stuff up the stairs and was finally in the room. Later discovered the elevator.. REALLY? Why was I treated like this. I was never disrespectful. I was patient. and was treated like I was the problem. When I checked out I asked to speak to a manager and was told he was not there. I asked a different receptionist to have him call me. He did not call me. I gave them the opportunity to make this correct but they do not seem to care. Be aware it looks like they have monthly rentals ther and there are some sketchy people staying there. evidenced by the overflowing garbage and empty 12 packs of beer., Next stop the corporate office.
The Best Western is new in Scotts Valley in about 6 mi from downtown Santa Cruz. Only a few minutes to Henry Cowell State Park for beautiful redwoods hiking, shallow river access. The fitness room has good, durable equipment. The pool and hot tub are clean and in working order. Hotel rooms in front of the pool are a little noisy but that's to be expected. Hotel has great blackout shades for sleeping in. They rotate their breakfast menu typically eggs, omelette, potatoes, cereals, toast, bagels, fresh made waffles, juices, fruit and yogurt. Get there before the end time because they do run out of omelettes and substitute with scrambled eggs. Would definitely recommend this hotel..
We stayed three nights. At an average nightly rate of $361, the hotel was vastly overpriced. And, we experienced multiple problems: a) The main parking lot was awful. The spaces were so narrow that they were inaccessible if vehicles were parked on both sides. b) Our i phones could not connect with the internet. c) The coffee maker in our room didn't work.
We always stay at the Best Western Inn Scotts Valley when visiting the Santa Cruz area. Staff is friendly and helpful! Good breakfast! Location is convenient, and close to town, with easy on and off the freeway.
I spend five nights there during a wet and cold January. The facilities are old and poorly maintained. On my second night the electrical outlets on one side of the room stopped working, affecting the TV and ancient microwave. The staff concluded "a breaker in the wall went out" and brought in extension cords. Not confidence inspiring. The heater was unreliable, sometimes blowing cold for 45 minutes. This was important since they only supplied one thin blanket for the bed. I leaned (after asking) that they only clean rooms "on request." On the fourth day I went to the front desk at 8:30am to request the room be cleaned. I was informed that the request had to be made by 8am. No exceptions. They did offer me a towel that I did not need. They promised the room would be cleaned first thing the next morning. The next day came and went but nobody came by to clean. I was checking out in a day so I gave up. The result was that the room was not cleaned the entire six days I was there. They allow dogs, which is fine by me. They have a for dog to relieve themselves that happened to be right below my room. The result frequent yapping/barking with one dog outside setting off a chain reaction. I like dogs but the noise might annoy others. What else...the TV was old and almost as small as my computer, there was dirt and grime in the bathtub, rendering it too disgusting to use, the parking spaces are tiny so if you have a full-sized car or truck you have to park on the street, the pool and spa were drained and closed, etc. I would not recommend this place. Spend a little more and stay at one of the nicer hotels in Scotts Valley or Santa Cruz.
Good variety to select from. Presentation was good. Everything was fresh. Great coffee. Waffle maker easy to use. Egg, sausages, and potatoes were kept full and not greasy. Fresh bagels and muffins. Plenty of condiments.
This hotel has everything you need for a great stay: convenient location, clean and comfortable rooms, continental breakfast, pool, hot tub, laundry facilities, and it's pet friendly. The best part was the staff - friendly and helpful - from the manager to the front desk to the cleaning crew.
Planned on staying here on return trip from Pacific NW. The room smelled, was clearly not cleaned well, and the bed barely made. We left---the staff was fine but we had been put in a pet friendly room that had not been well cleaned. We have had dogs for years, traveled with them but someone dropped the ball here!
The room was great, a little humid but not bad. The AC worked really great! Breakfast in the morning was yummy! The location was perfect as it was only about 15 minutes from the boardwalk! Overall it was a really good place to stay!
Our 2nd stay, they are a consistently clean and comfortable place to stay. Enjoyed the breakfast, pool, jacuzzi, and laundry room. We loved it and will stay again. Main desk and breakfast staff were always kind and helpful.
Great customer service! Our check in was quick and our rooms were clean. A great option to stay if you're visiting Santa Cruz for vacation. I didn't try their breakfast however several people that were coming out while I was going to check out mentioned how nice it was.
Kids loved the pool, we loved the hot tub. Easy to find, staff was nice and the laundry facilities were a huge bonus. The breakfast area was nice, wish they had more selection but overall good. The fitness room was well equipped.
This is a pretty standard hotel. The rooms are a bit crowded, and the bathroom was especially small. It was relatively comfortable. The location was good, close enough to the beach towns, but inland a bit and warmer, so we were able to enjoy the pool. The pool and hot tub were the real draw for us and we enjoyed them. The pool is a bit chilly, but on warm days it's nice. The floors in the room were pretty unclean, which we discovered thanks to our crawling baby.
We lived in this area for 30 years, and after 15 years away, came back for a visit. In my search for a hotel, I found the Best Western was the most affordable. I was very familiar with the location, but had never stayed there. I was pleasantly surprised! The gal at the front desk was very friendly and accommodating. She put us in a room which was on an upper floor, towards the back but away from the pool and highway traffic noise. The room & bed were very comfortable and had a great A/C system with a continuous fan, which was appreciated!!. The grounds and hallways were kept very clean. The breakfast was good with lots of choices and great coffee!! Only complaints, the bathroom area needs a hook or towel bar by the sink to hang towels on and the bathtub should have a bath mat. I had to put down a hand towel on the floor of the tub to keep from slipping. Otherwise - a great stay in the old home town!
A very well located for Santa Cruz area. Clean rooms and all being updated. Good value.Basic breakfast items but would like to have service time extended to 10 AM.. Pool area well maintained and cleaned daily. Enjoy the hot tub which is difficult to find at a motel.
We stayed here for its close location to Roaring Camp since we were there for a wedding. It was overpriced, dirty. We skipped the continental breakfast and ate at Jack in the Box instead. We have stayed at many Best Westerns and this was disappointing
We enjoyed our stay here. Comfortable room and facility. Quiet but close to Santa Cruz attractions. Would stay here again. Be sure to ask for room refreshing if staying for multiple nights. Rooms have been recently updated.
The staff were very courteous. Breakfast was nice - good variety of items to choose from. Our room was exceptionally clean even though they were running short on housekeeping staff. The clerk at check out was particularly kind and knowledgeable.
I consider this more of a motel with exterior entrances. The room was small, did NOT have a desk and parking was hindered by construction waste. Staff was professional and polite. Breakfast area was well laid out. Not to many community services close by.
Clean, quiet motel with updated rooms. Rooms are nice sized attractive with good beds and include Wi-Fi, usb charging port, microwave, and small fridge. Welcoming to pets. Area is safe and quiet with easy access to Redwood forests and Santa Cruz beach boardwalk and downtown.
It was a Clean comfortable room. I noticed no road or traffic noise. Hotel was on a nice quiet street. Very easily accessible to the freeway. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I would stay there again
I come down several times a year for work and it's a great experience every time. The staff is exceptional and friendly. The rooms are clean. Although I haven't used the other amenities, the gym and pool area look terrific and in great condition!
This Best Western hotel is located right off the 17, making it very convenient for Santa Cruz/San Jose area. The hotel provided a quiet and clean respite. The entire staff was extremely helpful and friendly.
We stayed here so we could enjoy Roaring Camp for the Heritage Festival and the Redwoods. Its always a pleasure to stay at this location. We also had a chance to enjoy the local restaurants. We will stay here again!
I came there for some classes, along with a friend that was going to stay in the room and watch TV, while I was gone. She's hearing impaired. Best Western has turned off the Closed Caption on their TVs, even though it's an FCC requirement for the hearing impaired. My friend is hearing impaired and couldn't watch TV the 4 days we were there...4 days people. The front desk said there was nothing they could do as it's turned off on all TVs. 4 days people. Had I know I would have chose another hotel for my friend's sake.
The price was right for mid-summer. This location is out of busy Santa Cruz, but it was very easy to hop on the freeway & zip into town, as needed. I worried there would be freeway noise since the property backs up to Hwy 17, but I only heard a little bit of traffic from Scotts Valley Dr. out front, and none when the A/C was on. The room was very clean, and I appreciated having both a small fridge & microwave. The WiFi didn't seem to work well, but I don't stream so just used my roaming internet. My only real complaint is the parking lot is small & very narrow so it was difficult to get into an open space, even though I only drive a Honda Accord, because of the trucks & large SUVs in other spaces. There did seem to be a few spots on the street so I'll try those next time. Finally, although there was a sign on the front door of the door that face masks were required inside, there were several guests who ignored this & roamed around inside without masks. Jeeesh!
Despite the dining room being closed, we enjoyed our stay at BWSC. The only thing that would make it better is bringing back the breakfast with the waffles! Clean sheets are a plus — especially after staying at a different hotel earlier this year where we had to change rooms because of the dirty sheets.
If you're planning an extended stay don't count on housekeeping services. California is is open, no longer in shutdown however Due to COVID” it's not possible to hire anyone to clean rooms, however I did see several housekeeping staff regularly clean rooms next to us so they could turn those for incoming guests. Even after requesting multiple times we only received housekeeping services 3 times in 14 days.
The room is comfortable and clean. Internet connection is good. I personally do not like the bathroom sink being almost part of the bedroom area...no door. So, if someone wakes up early and turns on the light, to use the sink, this can wake up the other person in the room. Strange design! And, the Grab and Go breakfasts are unhealthy and not worth eating.
Very poor customer service checking in, very little interaction with the clerk. Had to wait for the clerk to complete multiple duties and take a call from her manager regarding a nonsensical topic (I had to listen to the conversation). Stay somewhere else!
Rates are reasonable, Staff is friendly and attentive. Rooms are efficient and clean. Could use a bit more help in the Maintenance Dept. repairing small items ( disclaimer we were there during challenging times - fire clean-up and the hotel was busy) .
I came because of a flood repair in my home. I chose the King suite because the picture showed a nice jacuzzi tub. I was not disappointed. Soaking in the tub was wonderful. I also brought my dog and was very happy at how pet friendly the hotel is. Just $30 a night for her. There were many other guests with pets as well so I felt at home. The room was clean, hotel staff very nice and friendly. No complaints whatsoever. The hot tub/pool is closed and breakfast is a bagged version due to covid but this is completely understandable and I happily appreciate their modifications needed. I will return and look forward to a nice, quiet, clean and safe hotel I now know in this area.
It was nice to be able to bring our dog. The first room we were assigned smelled like dog pee and had not been cleaned, but we were quickly moved to a new room. However, the rooms were dirty and outdated. All of our towels were stained and the carpet was wet.
I just completed a 5 day stay at this Best Western. I picked it because the photos made it look a little more modern and cleaner than most alternatives and the price was decent for the area. And, it was OK. The room was 40 degrees when we opened the door, but the heater took care of that over a couple of hours. Given how cold it was, it seems reasonable to assume that the room was vacant for 24 hours. The room was large, with a decent king bed, a couch, a kitchen area with a coffee maker, a fridge, microwave. There is a small desk, and a basin book with a sink and a hairdryer. Positives Decent location within walking distance of food and grocery options. Reasonably priced Negatives. The couch had a number of suspicious stains that looked more human than food based in origin. So sitting on it was not on the agenda. The towel holder fell off the wall in the basin area, as did one of the handles on the drawers. The bathroom was very dated and the toilet was about 10 inches lower than 'normal' it worked, but it was odd. There were 2 medium sized towels and a couple of hand towels which were adequate Covid era, there is no service to the rooms. So coffee isn't restocked you have to go ask for it at reception (they only had decaf). There is nothing in the room other than described above, so if you were looking for cutlery or a bottle opener, you are going to have to bring your own. The lady who checked me in told me about breakfast, but that was not accurate. There is no breakfast served in Covid era. How she got that wrong I have no idea. The hotel seems to be bustling with blue collar business guests, lots of work vehicles from tree and road maintenance type industries. These guys tend to leave early in the morning, so depending on how you feel about being awakened by diesel trucks at 5:30am it might affect your stay. There is a homeless shelter nearby and so there are various folks wandering around the immediate area. Someone tried to open the room door one night at 4am. I never found out who or why, but the doors are pretty robust so security is actually decent. So there you have it. The hotel is Ok. Its older and scruffier than the photos make out, but its basically fine. Just don't sit on the couch.
Let me say this is fine as far as hotel quality goes, it's your average Best Western, and the staff was very nice. It was a little difficult to get fresh towels in the morning as they weren't refreshing rooms due to Covid, but I can live with something that trivial. I'm not sure if it's the location next to the freeway or what, but the hotel was noisy. On our first night, there seemed to be kids having a party on the second story, and I had to call the front desk to complain as it was after 10PM. They did go and quiet the people down, and some of them apparently left. The second night was quiet, but the third night was the worst. Our room was on the first story in front of the stairs to the second story, and this guy kept sitting out there talking loudly on his phone half the evening. Then next thing I know he and a woman are sitting out there talking loudly after 10PM. Again I had to call the front desk to complain, with favorable results. But I felt bad for the front desk staff, who were all young ladies who appeared to be in their 20's or so, and I didn't feel it was very safe for them to be dealing with loud rude people late at night. If I ever come back to the area I will stay somewhere else, sorry.
I was pleasantly surprised when I walked into my room, it was a little larger than I thought it was going to be and had a comfortable chair and a table that exceeded my expectations. The bed was large and comfortable and the place was very clean. There are some really good restaurants a short drive away and it's very close to Santa Cruz although I picked this location because of it's vicinity to the High School since that's where I would be working during the election. I had never stayed at a Best Western before and that is likely to change because of this experience. I haven't stayed in many hotels this year since the pandemic started and I felt safe with how clean things were and they seemed to be following all the protocols to make it a safer experience for me which included individually wrapped coffee supplies. (cold cups, hot cups, coffee etc). The little coffee maker in the room made great hot water for my tea (and it didn't taste like coffee, which was a plus for me too).
My husband and I having been staying at this hotel throughout a wildfire evacuation since September. I can not say enough about the staff at this facility, many of whom were also evacuated and with their homes and family in danger. This staff not only cared for the civilian evacuees they also served all the firefighters from around the state during the active fire. They have been kind, courteous and professional to everyone regardless of the situation. They worked with insurance companies, the Red Cross and Fema to assist their patrons. This crew has provided superior customer service to many in distress, They have been accommodating and efficient through a local disaster event. All of these employees are heroes.
I was really excited about our stay in Scott's Valley because of everything it had to offer. After reading all the mixed reviews for this hotel, we figured we would give it a chance. However, our experience at Best Western was anything but pleasant. Fist, when we arrived, we were given a room without a working toilet. It had stains on the carpet, and smelled like smoke ( I had read about this on some of the reviews). After speaking to the receptionist at the front desk, she kindly switched our room for another one, however, it only got worse. The new room also had multiple stains on the carpet, and worst of all, there was no housekeeping during our 3 day stay. If we wanted new towels, we had to take our old ones and get new ones! Each room was only allowed 2 bath towels and there were 4 of us!! We had to empty out our own trash cans since, again, there was no housekeeping because Of COVID. The poor receptionist was working by herself trying to multi task as best she could. We stayed in another hotel 3 weeks prior to this visit and that hotel had housekeeping. I don't know if this hotel is trying to make up costs from the recent COVID shut down through minimizing costumer service, but this can't be good for their business. Other than the stains on the carpet and having to do our own housekeeping, the room was descent and the receptionist was super nice. I just wasn't expecting to “clean” while we were on vacation.
To the reader...do not overlook the Scotts Valley area! This was our first time staying at a hotel in this area, and it was a nice surprise. The downer was that the cultural differences between Scotts Valley and Santa Cruz are obvious. Scotts Valley is definitely NOT surf and beach culture. Just a 20-minute drive can really distinguish 2 nearby towns. That said, this hotel offers a comfortable and contemporary yet affordable alternative to usually-expensive Santa Cruz and Monterey. Pros: The parking lot was a little small, but I had no problem getting around. The lobby is beautiful, airy and modern. We felt very welcome, and the staff acknowledge my Platinum member status and offered me either a snack or points. It was really nice to be welcomed in that way, and the ladies thanked me several times for my loyalty to their brand. Another cool part was they remembered it was my youngest daughter's birthday. The FREE upgrade to a 2-bedroom suite for no extra charge was a nice perk as well! Unlike other hotels in the Santa Cruz-Monterey area, this hotel has a big breakfast area with a nice variety of items. Our hotel room bathroom was huge and had rolling barn doors, which I thought were cool. Cons: This hotel is in a decent area, but it is not the picturesque and majestic Santa Cruz. While it is very close to the highway and there's easy on-off access, there is a fast food restaurant and gas station within walking distance, and there were some "questionable" people hanging out near the hotel property that made my wife and daughters a little uncomfortable. Also, while the lobby is big and modern...it is not exactly kid friendly. There was a sculpture near the fireplace that was fun to look at; however, if a kid was curious and touched it, it would probably fall over and hurt someone. Also, considering how close it is to "Surf City" and beach culture, there was very little to no decoration or recognition of that. A water feature, picture, surfboard on the wall...something, anything would have been nice to reflect and acknowledge what the nearby areas are known for. That said, I highly recommend this hotel and this area. The locals were friendly and helpful. If you are looking for an affordable, modern and comfortable alternative to pricier Santa Cruz and Monterey, then this hotel is for you! This hotel was an "A" in my book...definitely 9 out of 10.
I booked a king suite. Before arrival i was called and told i would have to move to a pet friendly room because i was traveling with dogs. The carpet in the room was badly stained and had an odor. The chair in the room was dirty and looked like it came from a thrift store. I felt like I was treated like a second class guest because i was traveling with my 2 dogs. This property is not pet friendly and i wont stay here again.
The room we reserved was not they room we got. Breakfast is the same every day. I would change it up. The website was inaccurate and that is why we did not get the right room. Location is in a good spot.
Everythings great, no complaints.Everythings great, no complaints.EverythingEverythings great, no complaints.s great, no complaints.Everythings great, no complaints.EverythingsEverythings great, no complaints. great, no complaints.
I passed through Scott's Valley the 21-22 of Dec and stayed at the Best Western. First off Angela at the desk was excellent with customers. I was welcomed and instantly felt comfortable. The property is very clean and I used the laundry and whirlpool and no complaints. I recommended the property and thanks again to Angela and staff.....will certainly return.
Enjoyed the excellent breakfast selection. Excellent and plentiful breakfast selection: Eggs, sausage, coffee, etc. Sheridan E. Mowrer 7766 Alto Way Dublin, CA 94568-1303 (925) 829-3695 shersgem@aol.com BW Gold Elite Crown Number: 600-663-6-04625822-6
I stayed for a week and it's so restful, I did not want to leave. The maids and servers were so nice to have. The beds are the best sleep I have had at any Inn. So I want to go back. These good places to dine just down the street. I loved the morning Breakfast and the business is so clean along with you have a hot tub and a pool what more can you ask for. Oh yes and if you tell them ahead of time its Pet-friendly. Don't forget the fitness room for those who want to keep fit. Enjoy I did and I'm going back in Jan 2020.
Me and my family decided to have a family vacation, this was one of the best options for me and my family and our dog. The hotel overall was average there were a couple stains on the bedding but besides that it was okay. My sister had called to check in 2 days before, the person on the phone said she had a room and would book it for her. When she arrived they claimed to not have here room saying she never called or someone didn't save her reservation, and it was sold out! We came back later and magically she could pick whatever room she wanted and what building. She even could pick the two rooms next to ours. I on the other hand got charged extra for my dog and room. This was the worst experience I've ever had with this best western.
Convenient location and great value compared to nearby places. Breakfast selection could be better but was ok. Easy parking and courteous staff. Quick and easy check in and check out. Would definitely stay there again.
A nice Old Spanish themed hotel. Located in very beautiful Santa Cruz Mountains. The hot breakfast was very satisfying. The internet services were fast and operated well. Only 25 minutes to San Jose airport and 10 minutes to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk.
Hotel is very nice, in a good position close enough to santa cruz without being stuck in the center of town hassle. Rooms are dated, really need to be updated but it is not bad considering the price point.
We were advised by locals to not stay at some of the hotels within Santa Cruz as they were concerned it wasn't safe to walk around at night. So, we randomly picked this location last minute which is about 10 minutes north of the city. We're happy we did. This place went beyond our expectations: right off the freeway, the rooms were nicely decorated and very clean, staff was friendly and helpful, hot tub and pool, a large variety of food options with the included breakfast - even the breakfast dining room is cheery and sunny. We'll definitely stay here again when we're visiting the Santa Cruz area!
We chose this location for our trip to Santa Cruz mainly because it was dog friendly and had tons of amenities. The only complaints I had were no microwave, lack of parking and uncomfortable beds. They had a pool and spa that was great. There hot breakfast waa actually very good and had tons of options like waffles, eggs, sausage and potatoes they even had yogurt and oatmeal so if you cant find something you like you are just extra. The rooms were very nice and had all the extras like soaps and lotion, coffee and tea even a blow dryer but seriously no microwave.
The experience was a 10. I was really impressed with the Great Customer Service. The hotel was Very clean. The breakfast was great. There were many choices and the area was very clean. I enjoyed the stay and actually wished I could have stayed longer.
The room was ok, the bathroom was fair. The towels were not nice at all. Very old and rough. It was very loud. Walls seemed thin, could easily hear neighbors. If it was cheaper I would expect this, but not for over 200 a night. Breakfast was ok, nothing great.
Good location, reasonable rates, pleasant staff. Good, comfortable rooms. Quiet location. Good complimentary breakfast with plenty of variety. Newer flat screen TVs with HD programming (HBO). Decent internet service. Good restaurants and a full shopping center within walking distance. I've lately found that you can't go too far wrong with BW. They've really been bringing up their game.
Everything looked fine, I could not sleep, turned light on at 1 AM and found bed bugs. I called office, someone came and took photos. I was offered a new room, which I declined. I was told when leaving there wasn't any spare rooms anyway. I had to drive 70 miles home at 1:30 AM. Realized I left an item hanging in closet, called and was told item would be sent to me and manager would contact me in the morning. Manager never called me. I called today to ask about item left behind and was told they do not send items, I would have to send a prepaid package to them to get my item back. My weekend get-away was ruined and they don't seem to care. I have to call again tomorrow to speak with manager to try to get item sent back to me. Horrible customer service. The only person that apologized was the person on that night, who was very nice.
Excellent, quiet location, close to Santa Cruz but feels much cleaner and less hectic for an overnight in the area. Motel was super clean and updated, very pleasant decor and very functional good sized rooms,. Everything worked and it felt pleasant and comfy! Nice staff and clean pool too! Very doggie friendly with a very reasonable charge of $15. per night for up to 2 dogs.
We enjoyed a one week stay at the Best Western Plus in Scotts Valley as we participated as volunteers at the US open golf hosted at Pebble Beach. Most mornings meant a very early commute to the volunteer parking lots but the distance was only 55 miles and you could not beat the relaxing serenity of Scotts Valley . With nearby amenities such as gas stations, grocery stores, restaurants, easy access on and off the freeway as well as the offerings of the Boardwalk, shopping and restaurants of Santa Cruz, we had everything we needed. Our room was very clean, the bed was very comfortable and the hotel had a laundry facility for guests in addition to a pool area and ample free parking. We were able to take advantage of the breakfast a couple of days and it was well stocked with a large variety of healthy warm and cold options. The staff were exceptionally friendly, helpful and considerate.
I stayed at this hotel while I attended an art workshop in the Santa Cruz Mountains. It was a good location. The staff was very nice and the room was nice and it was clean. Breakfast was a nice buffet with lots of options. The hotel is close to the highway and the main street. The Cambodian restaurant down the street was excellent.
I would definitely recommend staying at this hotel when in the Santa Cruz area. I needed a decent hotel while picking up my daughter from UCSC. The location is close to the freeway, in a good are, and moderately priced compared to other hotels in the vicinity. There is a full free breakfast which was very convenient. I would absolutely stay here again. My only issue was that the air conditioner didn't cool very well. I was fortunate that it was it a super warm day or else we would've been uncomfortable.
Very easy location there were convienice stores and gas stations around the hotel and they offered great amenities, very reasonable value on the room and pet friendly I felt at home and pretty safe in the area
We come to the area very often and always get the best service at the best western plus at Scott's Valley. The staff always takes care of all our needs while staying at at the property. There are many hotel options in the area, but we get the best accommodations at the best price.
Big clean rooms with a desk and fridge (no microwave) and the breakfast had a lot more options than most places. Bathroom fan was loud but the space was clean. Lots of food close by and felt very safe. Only downside is the parking, very limited and small spaces.
We cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. So far in this trip we have stayed in New York, San Francisco and Monterey, and the Best Western Scott's Valley was just perfect and the best of the lot. We loved our comfortable room and all the amenities were close at hand. The hotel is spotlessly clean and the staff are incredibly helpful and friendly. Everything just works well. The pool and hot tub are a nice touch. Whoever designed the rooms knows their stuff - plug points in the right places, handy shelves just where you need them. Nice gym. Good breakfast and a fun waffle maker, which my daughter loved. The fast food outlets are just next door if you need an emergency burger after a late arrival, and the market is a 3-minute walk away. We stayed here for four nights and were sad to leave. Highly, highly recommended.
We stayed in beginning of April which is why it may have been super quiet compared to if we were to stay during the summer. There weren't alot of other people there. Breakfast was amazing! This hotel is located fairly close to everything!
This was our fifth visit in five years. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Rooms are comfortable and larger than average motel of this type. Beds are very comfortable and the WiFi has gotten better. Breakfast is in a nice breakfast room and is enjoyable. Too cold when we were there to use the pool; but it is a cozy one. Number of families were staying there at the same time.
We had a room with stains in the carpet and hair painted into the bathroom wall. The fan in the bathroom was connected to operating the light and it was very very loud. The maid service was very poor. They never gave us enough towels and washcloths for two and didn't always give us a bath mat. They did not refill coffee and cups for each day we stayed. We stayed 6 nights. The last day we returned to a room uncleaned and the bed not made. We were going to talk to someone at the front counter when we returned our keys but no one was there. They were gone for 5 minutes and we didn't want to wait as we had to get on the road. We will not stay there again.
We stayed 2 nights, first night smoke detector was talking at 2 a.m. saying low battery. We took the batteries out thinking it would stop and it did not. Finally, we called the front desk. She was really nice, can't remember her name, sorry. She came up changed the batteries and it took us a little while to fall back to sleep. Upon check out, I asked for 50% off the first night, Cesar said no, gave us 10% off each night. Just a little disappointed on the discount. If I would of had a meeting in the morning I would of been extremely irritated but we were on vacation. Breakfast was good, room was clean. Just a thought, maybe have almond milk as an option for breakfast.
Location location location. Right off the freeway in beautiful Scott's Valley. You won't hear the freeway. Make sure you get there in time for the breakfast. Not generallly crowded. The staff is consitcons and friendly
It was a nice stay. Nothing special but it was clean and the staff was very nice. It is close to the freeway & the free breakfast was also nice. We would stay again. Rate was reasonable for that area.
I needed to find a convenient room in Scotts Valley and the Best Western was it. The receptionist was very sypathetic and understanding and quickly and efficiently checked me in. I had a good night and a good breakfast though the coffee was terrible!
Old single pane windows, slamming gates and talking. My window didn't lock and my children had already fallen asleep. The eggs are instant and sausages are soggy. I will not stay at this location again. Also I asked for a receipt and got a check-in sheet, no proof of what they charged my credit card.
I Should've Paid Closer Attention To The Reviews... 25% Of Reviewers Say Terrible Or Poor... I Was Attracted By Price.. Don't Believe The Flowery Reviews... I Think They Are Fake.... Lobby Looks Like Beverly Hills... Rooms Look Like Ghetto Plus.. Beds Are Worn Out.. Bathrooms Are Cramped & Suck... The Fan Is Ready To Blow Up... The Lights Are Grimy & Dirty.. The Towels Are Like Sandpaper... The Mini Fridge Is Really A Teeniy-Tiny Micro Fridge That SMELLS Like Something Died In It.. The Elevator Really Services Only Part Of The Second Floor.. I Would Avoid This Place If At All Possible.. Whatever They Charge.. It's Worth About Half Of That
We arrived for our stay in late December, 2018, with my wife looking forward to a hot soak in the jetted bath to kick off our holiday vacation. The hotel is newer, with clean rooms and modern amenities. There was one blemish. When my wife ran the water to fill the tub with hot water, no hot water emerged, even after a few minutes. The shower next to the tub had no problem producing plenty of it so it made no sense that the tub would run cold only. We let Sara, the front desk associate, know about the problem. Within minutes, another employee came and checked the tub and couldn't figure out the problem either. When it was obvious that the problem in that room couldn't be taken care of immediately, Sara told us that she was going to upgrade us to a bigger room, which was right next door to ours. Problem solved! The crew at BWPSV really went out of their way to make sure our visit was comfortable and memorable this holiday season. We won't forget it and are planning to stay there each time we visit the Santa Cruz area in the future!
I was looking for a hotel to stay at while in town on business. This hotel had great reviews so I thought that I'd give it a shot. I was pleased with my stay and you will be too! The staff was friendly, check-in/out was easy, and the breakfast... oh the breakfast... was big, delicious, and free. They also had many options for a veggie like me! I will most definitely be back!
The room was clean, comfortable and quiet. Good breakfast. I'd give it higher scores except for the following: No extra blankets in the room. Water to the Shower Head is so restricted that you will feel like you can't get wet and you'll freeze to death. If you want a bath- you'll be fine.
The customer service offered is beyond horrible. The morning following our arrival, I requested a 12pm checkout. I was unaware that my spouse had reserved another night at about 11:45 am. The front desk called and informed me of this, however, I explained to needed to run to our bank first to make a deposit. I was back within 10 minutes, the police had been called by the front desk, and were already on site. I was told "the manager wanted us off the property", because I should've made the reservation before 11am. I have never been treated so rudely and frankly humiliated at any hotel ever. If this is the service a Diamond Member gets at the Best Western, I plan on never staying at one of your properties ever again.
Nice, clean, updated facility in a good safe area. Swimming Pool area is very nice (pool large enough to swim laps) and hot tub larger than some hotels. However, pool is advertised as "heated" but was very cold. Room was clean, spacious and well decorated, large TV, comfy beds. The breakfast was good and had lots of choices and hot food (scrambled eggs, sausage, potatoes, waffles, muffins, yogurt, fruit, etc). We had a problem with our door lock, but friendly staff was quick to help resolve the problem. Location is next to a jack-in-the-Box. Near a Catholic Church if you're looking to attend Mass. The parking spaces are narrow and hard to park larger-sized vehicles. Would stay here again. Our rate was a little over-priced but typical for the area. About 10-15 minute drive to Santa Cruz.
This is a good hotel if you want to visit Santa Cruz but don't want to pay the higher prices or deal with crazy beach goers. The hotel is just off route 17 and just minutes from downtown Santa Cruz. Rooms are clean and have what you need. Small pool. Ok breakfast offered. Nothing fancy, just a good valley and nice stay.
Everything was perfect - a little pricey compared to other places we travel, but that is typical for the area. The hot tub worked great, the room had everything except tor a microwave which we ended up not needing anyway. I would have preferred real eggs for breakfast and not the powdered ones, but the rest of the breakfast options were really good, a lot of variety. Helpful staff, extremely clean room and property . Quietness was wonderful and so was the bed - we slept great.
Very friendly staff and comfortable room. Internet was good and the breakfast was filling and of good quality. Easy checkin and checkout. Pool is available along with fitness center. Onsite parking near yourroom. Very quiet room, even with expressway just behind the property.
Perfect location to enjoy Henry Cowell park one day and the beach the next. Bed linens were clean (you don't get that "icky" feeling at some other places). The pool was nice and I could tell that they take good care of it (crystal clear, no chemical smell). The breakfast was humble, but whoever makes the eggs and potatoes - hats off! that is some good stuff. Overall, solid value for the area. The bathrooms were a little small for 4 people (family) but we weren't there for the bathrooms. There was some dust on the blinds, if that sort of thing bothers you. Also, our safety lock was broken, but the deadbolt still worked and we really weren't concerned - the area is very safe. Eat dinner at the Sushi Garden if you can, it's a short walk or quick drive.
We were disappointed with this Best Western. The rooms were boring. The staff were uninspiring. The pool area was average. There wasn't anywhere to sit as a group except the pool area. No lounge area, no patio, no outdoor space. For the price, I expected an afternoon event of some sort. The breakfast was average. We have older phones and couldn't get onto the wifi. The staff was unable to as well. We had to phone a tech support and it took 20 minutes of irritation. We had three people in our room and only two bath towels. When we asked for another, we were told they didn't have any more?! The rooms were clean and functional but for the price, I expected more. I wouldn't stay here again.
The hotel is very convenient to everything in the Scotts Valley area. It seemed very busy and felt like the room was dirty. There was still some hair in the bath tub that I had to clean up before my wife saw it. The rooms were fine but the beds and pillowscould be more comfortable. There were either old and needed to be replaced or they skimped on them. The parking was difficult. There is very little space upfront and even if you got a space it could be difficult to maneuver. Overall I think it is time for the hotel to get updated but the location was great.
Best Western Scotts Valley is perfectly located for access to parks, beaches, Roaring Camp etc. The rooms were nice size, clean and comfortable. There is a pool and the jaccuzi is a nice feature after a long day exploring. Hotel staff very accommodating but very strict on 3:00 pm check-in time. There is parking but it can be a challenge. Parking spaces are small and not a lot of room to maneuver. We were blocked in by a Chevy P/U 2500 which was frustrating. The room had a frig but no microwave. The freezer did not keep ice cream bar frozen but did keep water cold. Over all a nice stay and would return.
We stayed in one of the Jr suites and it was very spacious, plenty of seating, and had a private balcony! The room was modern, clean, and had a huge bathroom with two sinks and a spa tub and standup shower. Very clean and everything looked brand new. The checking staff was just wonderful. The breakfast room was fully stocked with warm eggs, breakfast potatoes, waffles, sausage, cereals, bagels, fruit, granola and so much more! It was clean and the attendants were there the whole time helping and restocking. Definitely our new place to stay when visiting Santa Cruz! Just about a 7 minute drive from the Boardwalk!
Our first time to Scotts Valley, and we were delighted to stay at the Best Western Plus. We were in a room with two queen beds, and it was clean and perfect for an overnight stay. The pool and jacuzzi was very nice as well. Check-in and Check-out was fast and efficient, and the front desk staff was very friendly. The morning breakfast wasn't fancy, but good and a nice start to the day. We would stay here again.
Clean and spacious room. Down fall is there is no microwave in the rooms. When I called to reserve this room for 2 nights I was told it was only available on Saturday night but I could stay in a regular king room Friday night and transfer when the other room was cleaned and I could remain in the king room beyond checkout time so my stuff wouldn't be in limbo. Well that was not the case. I went downstairs as instructed Saturday morning to advise Tyler I would not be checking out because I was transferring into the JR Suite. Not that simple. Tyler calls me at 11:20 and tells me i need to check out and I can come back when the other room is clean? So who was i talking to 3 hours earlier?? I advised him I would not be leaving the king room until the jr suite was available. Funny it was cleaned 20 minutes later. Other than that confusion it was a great stay.
We stayed at the BW on a weekend, and got a pretty good price. It's only a 15-minute drive from the Boardwalk, so it's handy if that's your destination. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful. The room was okay, nothing fancy, but not gross either. The pool was small, but heated and clean. The breakfast bar was suprisingly well-stocked with edible food. Not delicious, but what do you want for nuthin? Overall, it was a positive visit. Cons? None to speak of for a cheaper motel.
It's at a convenient location near major roads and is typical of Best Westerns in many ways. Reception staff were excellent as were checkout staff - most helpful. But the room we were in was tired, in need of a bit of attention. Bathroom cramped with a very noisy extractor fan. Breakfast was good value with hot items, and is served from 6 am which was great.
The Staff after the first 2 ladies were very miserable, rude, and not welcoming. They literally turned out the lights at 9:30 on this elderly couple enjoying there meal. That was pathetic and just wrong.
Pleasant experience with check in. The room was very clean and spacious. Large in room chair and ottoman. Small in room fridge. no microwave in room but in the breakfast area there is one you can use. You get a full "real" breakfast in the morning. I would definitely stay here again.
Clean and large enough comfortable rooms. Typical Best Western Plus breakfast and amenities. Great 24 hour service for this smallish 58 room hotel. It was too cold to try the pool but hot tub until 10pm was nice on cool nights. I chose this hotel randomly on short notice and was not disappointed. Close enough to Santa Cruz but up in the hills with no city vibe at all. Driving there was an adventure on narrow-laned roads, but fun.
Great place to relax and sleep after a day hiking or hanging out by the beach. Great showers and comfy in-room chairs! Plenty of pillows and amazing breakfast! Location is less than 10 minutes from the woods and Santa Cruz. Quiet place to unwind after a long day.
Clean and comfortable room. Good housekeeping services. Small pool, but was little cool so we didn't use it. Free wi fit with good speed- no charge! Free breakfast included, eggs both scrambled and hard boiled, potatoes, pastries, breads, waffles, etc. on site parking. For being on a main road, very quiet rooms.
This is a typical BW - large comfortable room, basic amenities. Convenient to 1440 Multiversity and other Scotts Valley locations, and near the freeway. Housekeeping a bit hit or miss. If you take an upstairs room, be aware that the second level has its own levels and you may still have some stairs;
Comfortable room and family slept very well. Breakfast was sub par. Pet friendly plus. Would definitely stay here again for a Santa Cruz vacation. Destination charging for electric vehicle would be a great plus.
Only place we could find that looked good from the outside....once in we were delighted by the service , the room, directions for food and choices of and how to get to the food places. The breakfast was very good with eggs and meat.....good protien thanks
More than we usually pay for a hotel, but this area is more expensive. Used as a jumping off point for Santa Cruz (15 minutes) and San Francisco. (1+ hour) Booked the day before. Got a nice clean room. Didn't hear neighbors at all at night. Second morning heard a little bit of the maids making up other rooms and car doors as people left. Queen beds were a little larger than what is usually passed for as a "queen". Slept well which is unusual. Breakfast included a waffle maker, scrambled eggs, sausage, diced potatoes and the usual food. They keep it stocked between 6am and 930am. If they run out of something, ask, One complaint would be that the parking spots were a little tight. Some large vehicles blocked a few end spots. Also, the door keys stopped working a few hours before checkout, but that was fixed in a minute at the front desk.
I enjoyed my stay at dog friendly hotel. I will reserve through BW directly in the future. Was not offered 55+ or gov discounts. But the front staffers were pleasant and helpful. Room was spacious but a bit too loud on first floor near the pool.
We are never disappointed. Rooms are clean and are being updated. The staff are more than friendly, they are also accommodating. They do charge a fee for pets. Breakfast was more than continental, serving sausage, eggs and waffles along with other assortments. Easy off and on the freeway. Close to shopping and restaurants. Santa Cruz beaches about 10 miles. Thanks for a great stay!
The hotel was a good location for Scotts Valley and very close to Santa Cruz. It was very quiet and clean. Better than your standard free breakfast. Hotel had a pool and hot tub. It was a very easy hotel as hotels go.
The room was nice and clean and quiet. We loved that we could bring our dog but it would have been nice to know they would be charging extra for her. Also I think if you bring a dog you should get a room on the first floor but besides those minor.things it was reasonably priced for Scotts Valley on Christmas.
This is the perfect hotel to stay at for any and all business trips. Clean room and a nice hot breakfast just before you head into the office. I would recommend this hotel to all my business colleagues.
I had originally made reservations at the Cheminade in Santa Cruz, but within 1 hour an intense mold scent triggered an asthma attack. So, around 11 PM I needed to find alternate accommodations. I called several places, but the cost was exorbitant. Then I called the Hilton and they had 1 room left at a fair price. The room was immaculate. I could actually breathe! Room service was tremendous, even in the middle of the night bringing extra blankets. They allowed my little Yorkie to stay in the room too. It was quiet, clean, with excellent service at a very fair price. We also had a lovely view. I would highly recommend the Hilton in Scott's Valley and am very likely to return again.
Nice hotel for Santa Cruz and state park day trips. Updated rooms and amenities. Clean and comfortable rooms with friendly staff. Good restaurants nearby and easy to get in and out of Santa Cruz. Hidden gem!
We have dogs and cannot find a decent place in downtown Santa Cruz. Scotts Valley is so close and so much more convenient. We can be at the beach in 12 minutes so why stay in tiny inferior rooms near the beach?
Excellent experience overall. Very nice hotel inside and out. Didn't have the complimentary breakfast so cannot remark on that. Pool and pool area looked very clean and inviting although the weather precluded enjoying it.
my stay was excellent i will be staying here for future business trips. everything just wonderful inducing from the rooms to the breakfast to employees that way they made my stay the best both check in and check out front desk agent were very friendly. Diana , Fabi , Alondra and Carmen keep up the good work :))
Arrival Clerk had poor customer service. Fridge in room broken, won't replace; said she can only move us. Checkout clerk had good customer service. Told her about arrival; apologized & give us credit.
The hotel has been upgraded and is much nicer than it was a year ago. They accept up to 2 pets which worked out well for us. Mattress was a little to soft for me but otherwise everything was great. Good value for the price.
The staff of Best Western Plus in Scotts Valley all had a very nice attitude, and we hope to stay there again in the future! The check in process was amazing, and we had a very nice checkout as well. The breakfast was the best and all the items they served were delicious!
Great Hotel. Very close to Santa Cruz. Employees were very helpful. Great place, with great breckfast options. Newly remodeled with nice upgrades. Pool and hot tub were clear and clean. Had a great time.
Usually nice, clean and with great breakfast bar, lots of items. BUT the parking absolutely sucks. Spaces are xtremely narrow so many cars take multiple spots AND it's laid out poorly so if a larger vehicle parks in the wrong spot, others can be blocked in.
Overall the hotel is what one would expect from a Best Western but parking is very tight and there are no microwaves in the rooms. The staff was very pleasant and helpful and their breakfast room and items available were very good.
We stayed during the off season near a tourist town (3rd week in October), but there was still a lot of activity in the area, so we paid full weekend price. There is no early check in - I wouldn't even ask if you're staying on a weekend. Saturday for us was $188.00 with discount - I heard from family the rate jumped way up due to nearby town having an evacuation from a fire. I don't think I received a great value, but other hotels nearby charge about the same and other family complained a lot about issues. They visited our hotel and wished they booked the BW instead. The bed was clean and tidy (NO BUGS, etc), pillows were small and a bit lumpy but clean - which is the important thing anyway. The TV channel selection really sucks, especially for a child and since mine forgot her tablet charger it was a whinny experience for the parents. Breakfast had a good selection, but the bagels tasted like something from a $ store (I've eaten a few of those) The waffles, pastries and cereal were the best choices. Hot breakfast was there but it was somewhat flavorless. Lastly, I had to ask for a shower cap (upon request only) and no laundry bag present. Spa and pool very nice, the Spa could be a little hotter (maybe?).
Stayed here for 5 nites - enjoyed the location and the staff was quite friendly. Breakfast was good - not much choices for other meals without a car. Only issue was lack of convenient electric outlets near the bed to charge a phone. Definitely would stay here again.
Hotel was average. Bed was very uncomfortable as well as the pillows. Breakfast was over to early. Location was difficult to find. Staff was reasonably courteous. No early check in that could have been an issue for any one coming from out of town to attend an early event.
I loved everything about at the breakfast. All the employees were very helpful. Alondra the breakfast attendant and Maria front desk were really nice and able to answer all questions in a professional and quick manner.
I love Santa Cruz! Just not the traffic craziness that it is most of the time. I have customers in SC, so I am there about once a month. I like Scotts Valley because it is out of SC, but yet has great amenities.
Easy on and off freeway. Rooms are clean and comfortable but dated. Food was average. Shopping center close by and another a couple miles down the road. Was here to attend a wedding. Close to transit center since I needed to take a shuttle to the site.
2 queen beds for $300 a night in a tiny room with inferior beds and bedding is outrageous. The coffee machine was broken both mornings of our visit with no replacement offered. So the free breakfast was unsatisfactory.
We visited Monterey, spent the night here, then went to Lake Tahoe, stayed 1 night. Very convenient to Santa Cruz, 10 minutes on main road to San Jose. Clean, good breakfast, elevator to 2nd floor, convenient to restaurants and stores in area (could have walked). Santa Cruz has lots of homeless on streets, this hotels area has none. Stay here.
This property is attractive overall but somewhat shop worn. For the price it is a good value considering the prices in the area. The breakfast is fine and the staff are helpful. The rooms are dated in their decor but, to their credit, everything works well.
Very disappointed this stay. Usually very good to excellent. No wi-fi security (staff could not fix), short towels, bathroom floor dirty (hairs in the corner), hot food not fresh, tap water had bad odor and taste (might explain terrible coffee).
Didn't get to stay for very long in this beautiful little town, but after our stay, we are thinking of coming back again. The hotel was tucked away just off Highway 17 ~ easy on and off. The room decor, amenities, and comfort were top notch. Breakfast was more than most offer with a nice variety, although the sausages were a bit greasy. Front desk staff was fine ~ nothing outstanding, but pleasant and courteous. Overall a great value!
This is good hotel for the price, though it needs some refreshing. Breakfast is adequate, but not notable. The location is fabulous for anything you'll need in Scott's Valley. Within easy driving distance from Santa Cruz.
This is a very nice, clean hotel in a good location. The experience was unfortunately hampered by a staff that couldn't care less. The room also did not have a microwave and the refrigerator was barely adequate. So, if you're going for pleasure and eating out, it would be great.
Bad water pressure in shower. Also, hotel charges $300 deposit for the room!!!! Seems excessive most best westerns charge like $25. Better choices down the road in Santa Cruz. Stay away pay the extra money and stay in Santa Cruz.
Clean rooms, friendly staff, nice amenities. I've stayed for business, which its excellent for, but it seems like a nice play to stay if you're in Santa Cruz for vacation as well. Close to the freeway and local grocery store in Scotts Valley.
Check in was at 3pm, got there at 3:30 pm to check in and drop supplies off for a wedding the next day and was told my room wouldn't be ready for at least an hour. When I came back at 9:30 pm to actually use the room, I came to find that the suite I had reserved back in March as having a King Bed AND a sofa-bed had been renovated and ONLY had a King Bed. We had 4 people (bride and bridesmaids) sleeping there. The staff would only bring us one roll-away bed (a twin), and when I asked them to provide us with a second room, they said they would have to charge $199 for it even though I was not in any way responsible. When I refused to pay for the extra room because I had booked the suite specifically for its pullout bed, they told me there was nothing they could do because the manager was gone and wouldn't be back until 7 am the next morning. If I had been able to get into my room upon check in, we would have realized the problem and dealt with it while the manager was there. Paid $300 for the suite for ONE NIGHT and one of the bridesmaids ended up trying to sleep on two chairs that she pushed together. Go to the Hilton down the street instead for the same price/same room type. I wish we had.
I was surprised to find no recycling containers in our room....this is CA for cripes sake!! Clean and tidy, Nice location, but same price as Mark Hopkins on Nob Hill in SF?! Front desk staff very stern and rigid.
Got my luggage stolen from the room. Went to the front desk to see if it was turned in and it wasn't. Was told not to call the police until they had a chance to find it. After some time passes I called the police and made a report. The luggage was found in a locked uncleaned room a few doors down from mine. The staff assumes I'm accusing them and gave us attitude so we checked out. No compensation or apologies.
I think Best Western is trying to up their game. I have considered them a low cost, lower quality lodging option in the past, but this hotel has a nice quality level and is new and fresh. The employees were all very courteous and helpful. Decent breakfast. Let's face it, this is not a luxury hotel, but it is a nice, clean functional hotel if you have business in the area and need a place to stay. It is pricey, but then so is everything else in the area. California is just expensive.
Stayed here while touristing Santa Cruz. Room was clean and spacious, and had a refrigerator. Breakfast contained most of the usual stuff. Our room was quiet in the back of the building. Food available right next to the hotel (Jack in the Box), and the city of Santa Cruz an easy 10 minute drive away.
We really liked the pool and used it daily as it was quite hot. The breakfast we unhealthy except for the mornings when there was fresh fruit. Not sure if you changed owners but quality has gone down in my opinion.
This is a horrible hotel. Here's the list I submitted for what was wrong: 1. Fix the lamp outlets - only one of the two worked 2. Fix the A/C - we sweat in the stuffy, hot room all night because the unit wouldn't turn on 3. Clean the freaking room and bathroom - I did not leave a tip for housekeeping as I usually do. This room had hair on the bathroom counters, long black hairs on two of the four pillows on of the beds (the cases had obviously not been changed) 4. Clean the carpets - there were stains on the carpet and a mildewy smell 5. Do something about the ventilation in the bathroom - mildew/mold on the ceiling and a mildew smell. Nasty. Dirty. Smelly. Hot. If that's good for you, enjoy this hotel. I'm done with Best Western. I'm switching to Holiday Inn Express.
The stay was great up until in the morning I saw a cockroach walking on the credenza. My big concern is picking up hitchhikers. I did not bring it up to the staff as they may think I'm trying to get something out of it. The breakfast was great.
I always love opening the door to walk into a hotel to see what my first impression of the room is. When I walked into the room at Best Western, at first appearance, the room looked clean, beds neatly made. All expected necessaries were there. I especially appreciated the complimentary breakfast. Would definitely stay at another Best Western again.
The pool itself was full of plastic debris and there were no lounge chairs to sit on. The room was clean but the king sized bed only had a few small pillows. Rundown outside appearance with planters full of dead plants. The front desk staff person used derogatory language to speak about the housekeeping staff, not only in my hearing but speaking directly to me. All in all, a disappointing experience for a hotel charging more than $200 per night.
Staff couldn't have been nicer and room was clean, comfy and a wonderful surprise. If you're looking for a reasonably priced hotel for an overnight or short stay you can't go wrong. Fitness centre is really just a room with one treadmill one stationary bike and a weights machine, but we had it to ourslves so we didn't mind that. Nearby town has everything you need and breakfast was perfect for a quick bite before leaving.
Great place to stay this has been the only hotel we have stayed in when we come to the Bay Area. Only bummer is that the jacuzzi closes at 10pm and the parking lot is small . Breakfast was good ,room was clean ,
We stayed here on our way down the 101 from Seattle to San Diego during our 28 day road trip. First of all before I start on the good & bad if the hotel let me say that this is further from the San Francisco action / boardwalk etc then they say it's. good 15/20 minute drive maybe more with the manic traffic in that region. For me this is why it's average at best: 1) It feels isolated so if you want to be amongst the action this is a NO. 2) The rooms are dated and poor plus our one was nearly on top of the pool which sounds great but with screaming kids jumping in it until late it wasn't nice. They need modernising BIG TIME. 3) Receptionist seemed very disinterested. 4) Breakfast was very poor with actually a Out of order sigh in the Water machine yes let me repeat WATER. And when I asked if they found bring jugs the answer was no. The food was a joke. 5) Hotel set up is odd and didn't flow. To be honest this is not a great Best Western and I would look elsewhere if I return to Santa Cruz.
Stayed here for a few nights helping my daughter move to Scotts Valley. While I'd like to give it higher marks for the good staff and service, the overall quality of the place keeps it in the Poor range. This is an old-fashioned motel with a central office building which also houses the common room for breakfast. Your door to your unit faces out to the parking lot. The room looked tired and worn, although the beds were comfortable. The doors to the closet clearly had many coats of paint, and the carpet was stained and thin. The room had a slight musty smell which didn't improve with the AC running. The cleaning crew wasn't very thorough, not getting back into the corners of the bathroom. Also woke one morning to a dying cockroach on the floor of the bathroom. Not pleasant. We had a room on the south end of the building on the ground floor. Not necessarily a problem, but in our case, we had a highway service crew park their truck right in front of our door and they like to start it up very early in the morning and let it idle while they got breakfast or otherwise prepped for the day. So, we woke to both noise and the fumes of the truck funneling into our room. Again, not pleasant. On the plus side, when we arrived from a long day's driving, we had some car issues that needed immediate attention. The person at the desk was very helpful in making some recommendations and also in giving us directions.
Hotel now permits smoking outdoors. Cigarette filters on grounds very unsightly. Children unsupervised jumping into pool and monopolizing it for hours. No lounge chairs poolside. Beds comfortable and air conditioning works. Breakfast adequate but too much plastic, packaged, and unrecyclable.
1) We were there for my son's birthday. I mentioned it when someone contacted me by mistake the day prior to our arrival date, and I was told that you don't do anything for birthday celebrants. And I mentioned it again, when someone contacted me for the second time to apologize that the first phone call was a mistake. It does not have to be pricy. A simple "Happy Birthday" verbal greeting to the celebrant at check-in or a simple "Happy Birthday" note in the room would have made a big difference. Other hotels do that. Don't be left behind. 2) We chose to stay at your hotel because you are Dog friendly, otherwise, we would have stayed somewhere else. Most of the pet owners will do the same. Since you have a pet fee, it would be better if you have some inexpensive pet amenities.
This Best Western was a real find when planning our California trip. Just over an hour's drive from Palo Alto, where we met with friends on our way to Carmel. With the twisting roads, I'm glad we didn't have to travel on to Santa Cruz that evening. We enjoyed a nice comfortable room on the 2nd floor (they have an elevator!) and good breakfast the next morning before traveling on.
The Scotts Valley BW is the perfect location when needing to be in both Santa Cruz and Santa Clara counties. In the quaint mountain community, it is also quite and with dinning options nearby. A relaxing location after busy days.
the rug in the room was unacceptable. This was a pet friendly room and I was with my pet, so I wouldn't expect a perfect rug, but the stains on the rug were from the front door to the back of the room and around the bed. when this was brought to their attention, they offered a different room but it was just as bad. I asked for a refund and went to the Hilton down the street. The manager was advised by the receptionist of my concerns and he approved the refund, but never came out to see me.
While visiting relatives in the area, we chose to stay at BW Plus on Scotts Valley Drive. The hotel was convenient to the highway, but was very quiet and low-key. The staff was helpful and polite. Our room was clean and comfortable. No microwave, but a small refrigerator was appreciated. There is a microwave in the breakfast room if needed. They served a decent breakfast each morning. Will stay there again!
This was an amazing time for me and my family. I would highly recommend this hotel to others. The breakfast was amazing, staff was very friendly and helped me with whatever I needed. I cant wait until I come back.
My husband and I recently stayed here with our two children. We felt very welcome at check in and the lady on the welcome desk was very helpful. Our room was very clean and beautifully decorated. Breakfast was excellent and we were looked after very well thanks to Alandra. We would definitely stay here again.
Mya was a great front desk receptionist. She helped us to get to know the surrounding community. The breakfast lady was polite. The room was clean and the TV has a good number of channels provided. This is a great place to stay.
I am not quite sure how this hotel got a Plus rating. The room latch was half missing, the shower had cut marks, the electrical outlet was hung wrong, the hotel needed paint, and the pool wasn't heated. On the plus side, the breakfast was good, the workout room was nice, there was a laundry area, and the bed was comfortable. Not terrible but a few changes would make a great difference. We didn't get a welcome box, our next hotel gave us one and said we should get one because we are gold members.
Arrived early afternoon, clerk on front desk very friendly and extremely helpful with suggestions of things to see and good places to eat in the area.-- she even printed out some maps for us. Check in was a breeze. Room had new carpeting and a very comfortable bed. A decent breakfast got us off to an early start to our next destination.
Thank you for a wonderful stay! Clean and quiet time. The staff was nice well presented and a clean environment. We are planning on staying here the next time we come during the summer. Can't wait to check out the other rooms
Great stay. We were in Scotts Valley for a visit and the location was great. Short drive to the ocean and a wonderful Red Wood Park. I would stay again and have already recommended it to other family members.
We have stayed at this BW whenever we are in this area and it is always a pleasant experience. The staff is friendly, breakfast is the best, rooms are excellent, and the location is nice and convenient. We have stayed here numerous times and have never had a bad experience.
We needed a place to stay for the night for our family and dog. We live locally, but couldn't stay at home for the night. We hadn't made reservations and the people at BW were very helpful, making us feel welcome and taken care of. It was the Best.
The customer service is horrible at this location. They seem very put out when asked any questions or basic service over the 2 days I was there. The front desk personnel were extremely rude when it came time to check out. I had requested a late check out (Noon instead of 11am) The front desk agent called the room at 11:55 demanding we leave the premises by 12:01 or we would be charged $50. At no point had I been forwarned of the exorbanent rate of $50 if I was not 100% out by the time provided. I was in the process of taking my baggage to my vehicle at the time and was done at 12:15. When I questioned the rigid policy she threatened to call the cops on me and my 11 year old daughter who had originally taken the threatening call and was in tears. When I asked for a copy of my rental agreement upon checking out the $50 was included under "misc" and the rates had increased from what I had originally signed for. I could not find ANY notices posted that referred to these charges being policy. There was no point arguing with her and "management" was unavailable so I will be refusing the charges. I will NEVER stay here again and strongly advise you keep looking also. Quality inn Ben Lomone, Inn at Pasatiempo, Hilton Scotts Valley are all superior to this place.
This is a very clean hotel in a nice location. Daily room service was less then acceptable. Room kept clean but towels and coffee not replaced everyday. I would stay here again. Location was good and very quiet.
A good place to do a Napa Valley visit from. Has a good shopping mall opposite, and a good selection of sensible stores in the local. Plenty of parking, breakfast was typical American, good for what it was, but as a European, I suggest going to the Wholefoods mart over in the mall and being some excellent food from there!
Recently, I stayed at Best Western in Scotts Valley, Ca. I have been to BW's often and they are usually reliable, clean, good service etc. I was very disappointed. There was a noisy gathering in the room by the pool until 10pm and yet they put me in a room close to it (I had checked in at about 4pm) The room had updated carpet and sink area but outdated furniture (sofa, desk, dresser) and the desk chair would not raise up or down. The bed sheets looked like they had not been changed. There was long black hairs on the floor and bathtub. (My hair is very light). The counter by the sink had dirt spots. The bathroom fan was noisy as was the toilet when flushed. The shower curtain smelled like sour mildew. I could have gone to a nearby Marriott for $30 more which I will do next time!
My aunt was quite pleased with her week's stay there clean facilities great free breakfast friendly staff All In All a great stay definitely would recommend this to anyone that needs to have a comfortable stay.
I checked in and was given a room on first floor and window would not lock. I did get room changed as I felt unsafe. But no compensation for the inconvenience and not even a sincere apology. I got a room change and that's it.
Excellent service, excellent staff, great breakfast, pet friendly. This location is only 10 minutes away from the Santa Cruz beaches and attractions so the price for the 5 star type hotel was wonderful. We definitely needed a pet friendly hotel but found few quality hotels in the area that accepted pets. Our room also had a comfortable couch which beats watching TV, reading, or visiting sitting on a bed.
I reported that there was no hot water and never heard from management. The staff was polite, and offered a discount or reward points but couldn't act without management. The manager has not contacted me.
Up-to-date, nice landscaping, friendly staff, decently maintained hotel with good breakfast. As a Best Western Rewards Gold Member I was given an upgrade. Only minor issues were an elevator out of service (only 2 floors) and windows were a little dirty.
Our room was very large, spotless and very comfortable. The rate was half of that of hotels in nearby Santa Cruz and it's located just off Hwy 17. Reception was pleasant and check in easy. There is a gym, pool and spa. Although it's on a busy road and near the highway, we couldn't really hear any road noise in our room nor did we hear any neighbours. There are a couple of restaurants and a Jack in the Box nearby. We stayed in Room 107 with a king bed, couch and coffee table. This place is excellent value for money.
Quiet and quaint. Great find close to Santa Cruz and Felton - Roaring Camp. Great deal and very comfortable. Nice clean room and comfortable beds. Parking lot is tight but there is street parking for larger vehicles. Bonus: Fitness room and Wonderful complimentary breakfast.
we had a Nice stay. Room was clean, we had adequate breakfas the next morning, very nice and friendly staff. the only complaint we had is that the lights were out in front so it was very hard to find the hotel at night..
Two of us were here for one night, while visiting friends in the local area. Good thing we were tired the one night here, or the following items would have been even more of an issue: Parking spaces are too narrow, and not enough of them for nights where the hotel is full, such as the night we were there, due to many youth soccer players checking in. This can lead to damage to guest vehicles. Street parking is also risky, since we noted heavy gravel truck traffic on the street the morning of 9/24. The A/C unit even on max. cool with fan on high, took hours to cool the room. We were forced to leave it on all night due to it working so poorly. A plastic grill on the top of the A/C fell apart, and off, when the controls were accessed. The bathroom has no vent fan that we noticed, making it quite stuffy. The shower curtain has holes in it from being so old. The tub water spout leaks all the time and was noisy all night long. A light bulb over the double vanity area was burned-out. The key-card entry door handle works poorly: it only opens the door when raised up, never when it is turned down (which is the usual way these things open). There are stains and dirt on the wall behind the counter where the coffee machine is. The room has a musty smell either from being old and dirty, or due to allowing pets in all rooms at this hotel. My wife has an allergy to pet dander, so we asked for a pet-free room. Apparently this hotel does not have any. Too bad. Overall, we would describe the room (131) we were given as being well-worn, inadequately cleaned, and shabby. This hotel should NOT have the Best Western "Plus" designation.
very friendly staff, hotel updated but it was still not somewhere we would stay again. The pool hours were like 8am to 9pm, so if you want a hot jacuzzi after a long road trip and you arrive after 9pm you are s.o.l. It wasn't cleaned well, room smelled. Right next to freeway so made sleeping difficult
Large construction mess in front of my room, very noisy and dusty - great staff however! I might go back again once construction is done. They should post a note on their site that this was going on...after an 11 hour drive to this place it was, well - shocking.
Best western is good for a quick overnight stay. The rooms are clean and the bedding good. The complimentary breakfast is not good especially the hot bar. Needs improvement. The coffee was good which was a plus. The parking is tight and I was worried we may not get a spot. Not comforting. Luckily we were staying in the middle of the week so had not issues. They are doing construction which brings down the value however updates do need to be made. We will probably try another property next time we visit. I was not impressed.
This hotel is tucked away in the small town of Scotts Valley. The town has everything from a movie theater to grocery stores and many restaurants and coffee shops. It's also a 5 mile drive to Santa Cruz and Capitola.
I did that before!!!ohhh please I have already spent too much time on this and I wrote very much before so please go there and see so from here on I'm wasting my time saying this and doing this and I've gotta go
Highway 17 runs directly in back of this property, But of the numerous stays here, not once have I ever heard the passing traffic Property is well maintained, pets and service animals permitted. New (might still be under construction) elevator an added plus for handicapped guests, who prefer to be upstairs .. Breakfast available here, with large selection of items .. This is NOT to be considered a "Continental Breakfast" it's MORE than that.
Lobby, rooms, were clean and nothing special or outstanding. But the Complimentary breakfast buffet was a cut above! The Santa Cruz area is more into healthy food choices than most places in our country, and their buffet options clearly reflects that. Delicious!!
Friendly and very helpful front desk. We needed directions to a rather obscure place and they helped us find it. Room was clean and comfortable. Nothing special but worked fine for an overnight. Parking lot is tight for larger vehicles like pickups or long vans.
We visited this location last month. The property was in pretty good condition overall but aside from the desk clerk that checked us in all the other staff members just all seemed to be having a bad day. Never once did a housekeeper even make eye contact. I am not really sure why they liked to pull the soap and shampoo everyday (and forgot to replace it on one of those days) as it seems like an extra expense. They pull their breakfast at 9:30, and at 9:20 they announce they will be pulling it in 10 mins, even if their eating area is pretty close to full. The breakfast was descent , eggs, sausage, potatoes, waffles, fruit, yogurt, cereal and juice. Not sure if it is intentional or not but in our 3 rooms the AC units had problems with the calibration of the temperature (you set it at 65 and it stops cooling at 75). We asked maint to look at it but it still did the same thing. So in an effort to cool down the room I put some warm water in a water bottle, took the sensor on the AC unit and put it next to it (therefore making it think the room is warmer so the AC compressor stays engaged) In the future I will probably seek out a different Best Western
Count your towels when you first arrive in your room. This Best Western has no quality control over its housekeeping. They also have little care over the grounds. Even with ongoing renos, this place was trashed. Oh, make sure housekeeping understand that you are leaving for the day and want the room attended. We came back at 11PM to find our room untouched. Way too expensive for what we received.
We were staying here for several nights and at first glace of the room everything was looking fine. When we took a look at the bed we found several long and short black hairs in the bed. That morning the housekeepers cleaned our room and took our used towels and never brought clean new towels to replace the ones they took so we ended up with only a bath towel to use for multiple days. The water is the shower stunk very strongly of sulfur for some reason. And to top off the stay, the breakfast attendant yelled above everybody during breakfast and to tell us that breakfast was over and for us to leave. We had enough and ended up staying at the Best Western Seacliff. SO MUCH BETTER!
We stayed at this location to visit family that live in Felton CA. This is the closest Best Western to their home, abut a 20 minute drive. The unit was very quiet and in good repair. he staff was friendly and polite.
Dust, noise, smell. This was a builders construction site not a hotel complex. Was Best Western Plus priced but not delivered. We should have been advised in advance of construction work that was being done outside our room door. The outside of our room door and handle were in a very dirty state due to building work in immediate vicinity. No warning was given to us before or at check in of work in progress that would spoil our stay. Best Western Plus at this hotel was a JOKE.
I have not a single negative thing to say about my 3-week recuperation stay there. The room was very quiet, even moreso, given that it was as close to the freeway as it is. I never had a single complaint about noise. I did come close on one day, with an overly amouous couple who left their window open, but I marked that one in the voyeur class and chalked it up to free entertainment. Great beds there!!!
Air conditioning did not cool at all. Hot weekend on the coast. Plaster on hot tub was coming off. construction for new elevator going on. Breakfast was only fair, potatoes and eggs were gross. The only thing that saved breakfast was the do it yourself waffles but the strawberries looked bad as well.
I am a Diamond member with Best Western and have stayed in numerous BW hotels. This hotel is ok for a 80-90 a night hotel. The parking is not very accommodating, the pool and hot tub are ok, the selection for breakfast is average. The rooms are average. If you happen to get this hotel for between 80 and 90 a night, you are fine. Anything else above that, I would look else where.
Parking is too tight. We parked on the street, it was that tight. It is an older property, that has been up dated and kept clean and well serviced. The location is a little loud with traffic noise, but it wasn't a deal breaker. There are better, but this was just fine. I may being a little hyper critical.
For the price it was a pretty pathetic hotel. It should not more than a $100 per night. If it was not extremely necessary to come and stay here I would not have. The staff was very nice, helpful, kind and professional.
The place is not fancy but is clean and quiet even with construction going on for a much needed elevator...in fact I never even heard the construction and I was close to it..The lobby has beautiful flooring and is comfortable and inviting!!! I will stay here again on my next trip to the area.
We arrived at the hotel a bit late, we were greeted by two staff that were very helpful and professional. We then drove to New Brighton Beach, you have to find this place, south on Highway One , just past Capitola. Great beach to walk and sea glass hunt. We then went further south to State Street in Aptos and had dinner at Severinos, another Best Western, our first choice when staying at the beach. No available rooms, so we stayed in Scott's Valley. The meal was great and then we headed back to the hotel. In the morning, we went to Big Basin, it has redwoods that are over 1300 years old still standing in beautiful groves. The shops and buildings were all built around 1903. What a fantastic park , we went on a short hike, my girlfriends first, and it was a 5.7 mile round trip hike to a water fall. There is a beautiful pond at the bottom of the falls. 87 degrees, but in the redwoods it seemed a lot less hot. Easy hikes , fun place. Have to try this gem.
Nice place. Convenient exit off of Hwy 17. Only a short drive south on Scotts Valley Drive to Mt. Hermon Rd and restaurant row. Nice breakfast room. Room was quiet even though back side is near Hwy 17. We asked for a later check out at noon while I attended a morning meeting. Large room. Jack in Box next door for late late food.
The Best Western chain is our first choice all across America. Heretofore we have always had very positive experiences. If you look at my reviews, you will see that there are very few negative ones....I am not just some crabby guy who likes to criticize. We booked two rooms, a suite for our kids and a standard for ourselves. At 300 each, we understood we were paying for location and holiday rates. In sports terms, there were two flagrant fouls and a technical. 1. The technical was when we requested a crib and were told it would be an extra 10 dollar charge. Really? On a total bill of $1200 for two nights? 2. Flagrant foul.....this was a big scary one. 20 minutes after we checked in our credit card registered a fraudulent attempt to buy items via Internet! Coincidence? Not likely since we hadn't used this card in months and only use it for travel. The front desk manager seemed supremely casual and unconcerned by the fact that a staff member might be committing a crime. 3. Flagrant, less scary, annoying foul....housekeeping cleaned our room while we were attending our event. They took all our towels and DID NOT replace them. This was awkward when we went to shower the next morning. We worried we would be charged for stealing towels, so we reported it to the front desk. We will be watching our bill closely to make sure they don't pull something. We will be calling our credit card fraud line to make sure no shenanigans show up in the future. In summary, we will continue to patronize Best Westerns, but will absolutely avoid this one, and urge others to do likewise.
Stayed for one night in a one bed room. Nice and clean, large bed and working equipment. No microwave though. There is an outside pool and jacuzzi, which is heated and open until 10 pm. Friendly staff. Breakfast was waffles, muffins, toast cereals, juice and coffee.
i found this hotel to be clean and the free breakfast was enjoyable. Same food served everyday and on a busy weekend they were slow to refill the food and didn't keep a very good eye on when there was need for more. But the staff is very nice and the rooms are very clean.
The rooms are good, the location leaves something to be desired. $290 for a one-night stay for me and my dog (that's a lot of such an average motel experience). Stuck up against highway 17 and a road that has nothing to offer. Parking spaces were so tight you can barely open the doors to get your things out and squeeze past. Grounds nonexistant and no where to walk, nothing in the area. Breakfast was typical continental breakfast that tasted very low quality, processed food. :( Room was fine, beds comfy. Landscape was terrible. But the good news is they allow dogs, so good option for traveler with dogs. Internet was okay but slow and did not allow streaming of videos.
As you probably know most Santa Cruz hotels are overpriced! I hate being gouged, don't you? Unless you have to have an ocean view??? Why not stop 2 exits up from Santa Cruz and save some money. Some minor renovation going on right now. Pretty quiet during sleep hours tho. Breakfast is free and thats a savings! Better than most with the usual waffle maker! Good coffee! Another plus! Front desk staff are as good as it gets! Very helpful! Good job Ladies! Keep in mind you can't see the beach while you're sleeping....
The room was comfortable and quiet. My husband told me that the pool was NOT heated...as described. The parking issue, a HUGE van parked blocking other cars, needs to be addressed. Also, the on-line description did not mention a workout room, which my husband enjoyed discovering. It would be helpful to label the cold cereals; did not know what they were.
It was a great time especially hot tub and bed was comfortable and we enjoyed having a jr. suite. I have had great service every time I have booked the room. The front desk clerks are very professional and polite.
My daughter and I had plans to visit UC Santa Cruz. The hotels prices in the city to what they had to offer didn't make sense. We also looked in San Jose and the prices even for motel 6 were ridiculous. Finally we found this Best Western close enough to campus and the city at a reasonable price. We had a pleasant experience. Our room was on the second floor. It was very quiet, clean and spacious. They offer complementary breakfast with a nice selection of items to choose from. The only con of our stay was the tight parking area. If you are driving a SUV it might be difficult to find a spot. I saw several bigger vehicles parked on the street. The area feels safe and is close to highway 17.
I traveled 7 hours to visit my son who was ill. When I arrived to this hotel the reception area was shockingly old. Not even close to what the photos portrayed on priceline. I was told if they catch us smoking they will debit my account 300.00. Well we do not smoke but thanks for the warning. It was incredibly loud most of our stay. The room wreaked of bleach. Tried to locate another place but had to stay 2 nights not by choice. I stayed in the area 5 additional nights at another hotel and had no issues. When i made my way back home i contacted priceline to let them the hotel was under construction and there was no business center as the photos indicated. Priceline contacted the hotel and relayed the owners denial about the construction. I was shocked that the hotel denied any construction. I asked for my money back they denied my request. I am posting my photos from this hotel. Stay away from here. My visit was during the week of April 4 2016.
we were completely satisfied with the room and service. We originally wanted to stay at Santa Cruze but they were all booked full. We were glad to get this motel instead. Our only problem was a lamp was not working. Staff immediately checked it and found out it was somehow unplugged. Excellent breakfast facility.
All went well and the staff was effecient and friendly..especially over the phone helping with the reservation. The rate was good and the hotel well kept and i would recommend this hotel for business or pleasure.
I love staying at the Best Western Plus in Scotts Valley, CA. I travel to that area several times per year and never switch hotels. This location is always clean, quiet and friendly. Plus it is just off of the freeway for easy access to anywhere!
This was really a great place but overpriced because of the area, close to a resort town. Just frustrating to have to spend so much just to sleep--I was too tired to go on past Santa Cruz! The facility itself was clean, quiet (even being so close to the freeway) so no complaints there. The staff was great. Breakfast was ho-hum fare that most places have, fresh fruit would have been nice.
First off the price we were quoted on the web site was $30 less than what we got at the hotel. Even with our AARP Discount it was still $160 for 2 queen beds. It's right next to the freeway, I mean just on the other side of the fence. The room was clean. The bathroom fan LOUD and you didn't have an option to use the bathroom without it being on. There was no room 'guide' of local restaurants or attractions or even television channels. The office was being remodeled so I won't fault that BUT check-in was a challenge just to FIND the office. There is very limited parking and the parking stalls are TOO NARROW to even get your door open without literally sliding into the car. Usual breakfast fare: waffles, eggs, potatoes, etc. nothing special there. Overall, will not come back. Not worth the money or various aggravations.
Looking for a nice place to stay, highly recommend this hotel. Nice location, comfortable, modern rooms, friendly staff, rates are fair. Would definitely stay at this Best Western again. Only draw back there are no microwaves in the rooms.
I have stayed here several times and it is very convenient to downtown Santa Cruz, and the beaches as well as Scotts Valley where I visit my mother at the Brookdale Assisted Living home. The rooms are very comfortable, there is a pool and jacuzzi outdoors, there are a few restaurants very nearby as well as a grocery store and pharmacy. Love the in-room coffee and fridge- and the breakfast is very good- cooked eggs, potatoes, sausage, waffles and fruit and yogurt and cereals and juices and coffee and tea! The staff are helpful and the location is quiet and seems safe.
Our second stay at this property. Rates very high especially when the price is factored in. It is hard to find a place to stay for around a $100 around Santa Cruz.. Compared to other medium priced places in the area has got to be the best deal. Unless you need an ocean view you can't do any better.
It's a decent budget hotel, something hard to find in Santa Cruz/Scotts Valley. Our room (220) was clean and comfortable with King bed, couch, coffee table, fridge and microwave. Standard tub/shower. Everything functional and tidy. We didn't use the breakfast, but it's included in the price, and the set up looked like it had a decent variety. Staff was friendly and parking adequate. Our only complaint was the pillows: too hard and no variety available.
Well used, un kept sub standard room at a premium price. Stained carpet, low water pressure, uncomfortable bed and dirty unkept grounds with a crowded parking lot that will likely cause a ding in your car.
We stayed here on Feb14-15. When we checked in it was obvious they were understaffed. We went to our room and I was immediately grossed out by our room. The floor was dirty the bed skirt was FILTHY and there were stains all over the wall. Not quite worth the $150 we paid. I figured we would muscle through it since most hotels in the area were booked. I figured I should probably look at the sheets. One bed obviously wasn't even changed. There were hairs, dirty feet marks, and CRUMBS. Gross!!!! I called the lobby and the lady at the front desk apologized and offered me a change of sheets. She was the only one working and was extremely busy. I went down and got the new sheets. The new flat sheet had small blood stains at the feet and legs. Gross!!! I called to see if we could change hotels but we couldn't bc we used hotels.com and prepaid- huge mistake. Ugh!! I then found mold on three of the pillows. So disgusting. The only reason I am giving this place a 2 and not a 1 is because the front desk woman was so sweet. Overall it was the grossest hotel experience I have ever had. I wish I wasn't locked in for $150 or we would have left. When I checked out I was told that they would offer me a discount but they can't because I prepaid. NEVER AGAIN!
Great location, close to everything. We hiked the redwoods, walked the boardwalk, walked the beaches, ventured downtown, checked out some of the local breweries, and caught a ton of memories in Santa Cruz. Thank you Santa Cruz for making our vacation so wonderful.
This is a average hotel, but the rooms, in general, are clean and the breakfast is good to very good in comparison to other similar hotels. I was dissatisfied with the quality of the bed and couch in the room for the price I paid (roughly $140 a night). The bed/furniture quality and cleanliness seemed comparable to a motel 6. I am a frequent business traveler and was maybe expecting too much for the price/very positive TA rating. Pets allowed which is a + and the staff was good. I just can't shake the fact the room its self felt like a 'dressed up' motel 6 quality room.
We were looking for a place to stay during a visit to the Bay Area. As it was Super Bowl week (!) the prices in and around the Bay area were jacked up! $250 to $350 a night was seen when we searched for a room online. Best Western Scotts Valley was 20 miles or so over Hwy 17and felt like we save $200 a night. Liked it so much we spent a second nite! We could afford it! The full breakfast was pretty good as it was included. We would have spent $20 easy at a restaurant easy for the two of us. The coffee was pretty darn good! And I'm picky about my coffee! Bed was comfy, large flat screen TV, shower had a sunflower head that felt good! The staff was friendly, and took care of all our concerns promptly. We feel that we received good value for our money!
Great hotel with friendly staff. Reasonable prices and a great location. I don't bother looking elsewhere. They are slowing upgrading the hotel to make it better. That means some of the rooms don't have the newest amenities yet. The parking is a little tight, but that is common for the area. Just make sure to book at least a couple days in advance as they often sell out.
Whenever I am in Santa Cruz I always stay at the Scotts Valley Best Western. This is a nice, quiet hotel with all the amenities you need. I appreciate their attention to detail in making my stay comfortable.
Was happy to find this clean, well-appointed hotel at such a reasonable price. Just a very few minutes' drive and you're out of the congestion and noise of Santa Cruz. Amenities were fine, and the location is lovely. The parking lot, however, is TINY. Definitely not enough spaces for the capacity of the hotel, and the spaces are so narrow that even two smaller cars parked next to each other are crowded. Larger vehicles, forget it. Really, that's the only drawback I can think of, though. I would definitely stay here again when visiting family in Santa Cruz
The room was large and comfortable. Very nice. Parking is a problem. The spaces are narrow and short so when there are a lot of full size trucks in the lot it gets kind of crazy. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
The parking lot is very small and tight. Definitely AVOID it if you have a wide or large or longish vehicle of any kind; definitely DO NOT attempt a UHaul, boat or RV. Hotel is very convenient to HWY 17/880 and not too far to Santa Cruz and the beach, but you have to drive over a curvy hill road to get to 'Silicon Valley', so be prepared if you are not familiar with the area or uncomfortable with this type of commute. Locals tend to drive 'The Hill' very fast, sun or rain, curves and all!
Asked for a quiet upper floor room & was given one directly over the pool/spa after being told in the cold weather no one would be swimming. But a family was in the spa splashing, yelling, laughing until after 9:30PM; all the noise was clearly & loudly audible in my quarters. The frig was on a low level in the closet, w/o any lighting & was difficult to access, much less see inside unless I used my penlight. No extra blankets were available on a frigid night (the heater needed more than an hour to warm the space. The in-room WiFi was dismally slow & initially not working. Hot breakfast choices were limited to sausage, eggs & waffles. No hot oatmeal was offered, only the instant version with a high sugar content - nothing healthy or appropriate for people on special diets limiting sugars & fat.
Room was comfortable and good sized TV. While shower/toilet room had towel bars, I thought it odd that the large sink area had none. In fact, there were no hooks or anything to hang towels or anything else. Room had large closet with shelves along with frig.
I give this hotel a day 10 for a great experience from check in to check out. No hassle warm friendly check in to clean quite comfortable rooms. Nice places to eat nearby. A great experience. Warm quiet environment. Great night sleep. Not rushed to get out of room by the hotel staff to clean the room. Thank you to all the staff.
We stayed overnight on our continuing trip and found this an excellent hotel. Staff was very friendly and accommodating yet professional. The room was very clean and quiet. We made good use of the exercise room, and the breakfast was great in terms of variety and quantity.
I'm a native Santa Cruzan and visit family often. Staying in Scotts Valley put's you near the freeway for easy access to all parts of Santa Cruz. If you want the full flavor of SantaCruz Stay here and go to town for your entertainment.
It was one of the nicest Best Western Hotels that I have stayed in.The motel was fairly new and the room and facilities were excellent. It was in a fairly quiet location. There nearby restaurants & stores. Hiking in the Redwoods was nearby. Santa Cruz was within 15 minutes.
Had to go 10 miles north of Santa Cruz due to professional surfing event on the coast. Location not convenient for our purposes, but not bad, either. Average in every way, room was fine, service was good. Shower curtain missing, eventually gave us a new one. Quiet and comfortable.
If you come to Santa Cruz for business or pleasure, I highly recommend this hotel. It is quiet, comfortable, accommodating, conveniently located near highway 17, has stylish décor but most importantly it is clean!
Don't let the location of this hotel turn you away. It does back up to HWY 17 but you cannot even hear the traffic noise. The access to 17 is so easy and you can be in Santa Cruz within 10 mins. The staff is very friendly and professional. There is a nice size pool and hot tub on the property. The breakfast is very nice, fresh and hot. This location itself is safe and quiet.
A great location close to everything that you need. It's right off the freeway. The property is clean, and has a pool, spa, and fitness center. Breakfast was very good. The staff was nice, and the Internet service was excellent.
Spent 3 nights here, and was very comfortable. The rooms were up to date and very clean. I would stay here again. The staff was courteous and friendly. The rooms are quiet. The breakfasts include hot choices like eggs and sausage and biscuits and gravy. I didn't try them, so I can't speak to quality, but they looked good.
It was very upsetting to arrive at midnight to find that our room had been given to some one else on our paper work with all my charge info., especially when it 3 am where we had traveled from that day. It was also upsetting to come back to our room at 9:45 PM and find it was not made up. It was also upsetting to have my charge card locked because of 2 charge from this motel.
The rooms were clean and comfortable. The location was close to the highway but you it was very quiet and peaceful. The hotel setting was quiet and picturesque. Very friendly staff and the morning breakfast was nice.
We appreciated the clean room and comfortable space. My man especially liked the larger shower and high toilet seat. It was a nice room, we planned to stay at Hilton for a wedding at Roaring Camp but was booked. It was a nice surprise to see such a nice spacious, clean room. We would definitely stay there again.
This is very nice, clean hotel, the staff was very helpful. The local area is very nice, I would stay here again when I am in the area. The rooms were very clean, and the beds very comfortable. The breakfast was always on time and was very good.
Our stay was 2 night. First day, although we put no sign on the door and were gone all day, no one cleaned our room. We told the staff. Next day, although, to save water as the card they displayed suggested, we hung our towels up to reuse. Housekeeping took them away and, although there were two of us, replaced them with one facecloth and one towel. No bathmat. Told front desk staff again at checkout. No offer to makes things right. Wont stay there again.
This is an excellent Best Western. The room is clean, the bed is good and the continental breakfast is very respectable. I highly recommend this property. If you have a need to be in Scotts Valley, this is the best place to stay.
The hotel is a very nice location that is conveniently located near the Highway 17 exit. The hot breakfast is excellent and far exceeds the selection I have seen at other hotel locations. The rooms are clean and quiet and staff is friendly.
Staff at check in were nice well and dressed. Rooms were clean well decorated and beds were comfortable as usual. Parking is a little tight if you have a big vehiacle so we try to park further back in the back lot
The rooms include all the expected amenities, and the breakfast was crowded but kept stocked. The best thing about this hotel is the staff - they are incredibly friendly and accommodating. They go above and beyond to assist with requests. They really made the price worth it.
We recently booked a five night stay at this property, Sunday through Friday check out. Due to a change of family plans we changed our reservation from Monday through Saturday morning. At the time of changing the booking, no mention was made that the Friday night rate would be over twice the daily weekday rate. Imagine our surprise when we checked out when we discovered that the rate for the Friday night stay was double what we had expected to pay. The manager on duty would not discuss this matter with us. The weekend rate exceeds the rate for many four-star hotels. Although Best Western rates this as one of their Best Western plus properties it falls far short of accommodations in their other plus properties. We will not stay at this property again.
