Best Western Plus Capitola By-the-Sea Inn & Suites

Very friendly staff. The pillows were fluffy, the bed was comfortable. We slept well. There was a gentlemen who helped us retrieve a snack from the vending machine with my son's hard earned money. Breakfast could feed our dietary needs. Walking distance to our favorite bakery!

Room was clean and tidy pool area was perfect as well hotel grounds were clean and breakfast area one of the best! Hotel is close to all the restaurants and shops easy drive or walking. Parking lot was clean and well lit and plenty of parking! We will definitely be returning!

We were notified that our room was ready for early check in which was really nice. Upon arrival, we were greeted promptly at the front desk by very friendly staff. Our room was spacious, clean, and the beds were comfy + they had a coffee maker and a fridge in the room as well. They offered complimentary coffee in the lobby too (the fancy stuff!) and the breakfast was wayyyy better than expected. Eggs, bacon, fruit, biscuits and gravy, cereal, oatmeal, pastries, English muffins, bagels, waffles, a bunch of different juices, it was really tasty. We used the hot tub and the heated pool around 8pm and it was very nice. Our daughter had fun swimming at night and we really enjoyed the hot tub after a long day! My only complaint is the walls are very thin. We could hear EVERYTHING so we didn't sleep the greatest but everything else was wonderful

Always treated well at Best Western Capitola. Good location. Love 41st Avenue nearby restaurants and shops. Close to Pleasure Point. Nice comfortable beds. Nicely appointed rooms. Parking and elevators are convenient. Our go too in Capitola.

Received what felt like one on one attention when it came to requesting room service. Very professional staff from the front desk to the cleaning crew. Room was clean and I felt very safe traveling alone. Would definitely recommend to others.

As always, we loved to stay at the Best Western Hotels because we know we will always find a clean spot to stay and staff are very friendly and welcoming. Love the fact this establishment has heated pool and hot tub which are kid's friendly. Housekeeping personnel are very friendly and helpful.

The excellent hot breakfast buffet is open from 6 to 10 AM, giving guests plenty of time. It includes waffles, two types of eggs (including hard boiled, which is a relatively healthy choice), pork, gravy, granola, cereal, biscuits, cottage cheese, yogurt, fresh fruit, a good variety of tea, instant non-sugary oatmeal, etc. There are healthy choices. The fruit salad looked old, so we steered clear. The room and fitness center were comfortable and clean. All of the staff were courteous and welcoming. The property is centrally located and within walking distance of a large shopping center, Whole Foods Market, and many eateries. The room has a shower/tub combo with a rubber mat and a grab bar. The one downside is: There are shutters, so sunlight cannot be blocked out.

This hotel provided a friendly welcome. Rooms were nicely spaced and included all the amenities that one would expect. Location was great for touring PCH 1 Pool provided an additional asset, unfortunately for us it was a little too cool outdoors. Buffet breakfast met expectations.

All around good accommodations with people that understand what customer service means. Great staff always recognize when you come back. I consider this to be the safest best western in Santa Cruz County. The rooms are clean, quiet, and the property itself is relatively free from riffraff.

What a beautiful, Best Western in every way. The amenities were great, including the hot tub and pool. The room is very spacious and has lots of areas to put your suitcases and relax. The beds were so comfortable and the breakfast was a nice addition. I love the fact that it's so close to the beach. The staff was very sweet and accommodating. This is my second stay here and I will continue to stay here again.

Free hot breakfast, free ample parking, 24-hr free coffee and hot chocolate. Free fast wifi. Clean rooms and comfortable bed and pillows. Shower head was weak in our room for this stay. Other rooms we stayed didn't have this problem. Safe location. Nearby eateries. Our favorite spot to stay when visiting our child at UC Santa Cruz.

Staff very friendly and welcoming. My room was spotless and had everything I needed. It's an easy 15-20 minute walk down to the beach. Nearby coffee shops, Whole Foods etc. I'm not much of a breakfast person but it was nice to have available yogurt, granola and fruit.

The Best Western Plus Capitola is a great place to stay if you have young kids or teens in your group. Our suite had a separate bedroom with a door to offer privacy from the living area. The living room had a big pullout couch and there is a separate bathroom that great. The room had a microwave and fridge. It is close to lots of places we wanted to visit! Loved this charming property.

Just wanted a couple of days at our favorite area Santa Cruz and Capitola. The hotel is right in the center of every where we wanted to go just a short drive to the boardwalk or Capitola beach. There are many great places to eat in the area and when the weather is good it's always nice to sit outside and dine while watching to ocean.

The hotel staff was friendly the room was clean and super comfortable. The amenities included were great and at a reasonable price. The parking lot was big and there was always a spot available. We loved it

The food is great, the people pay attention to what we have needed They have remembered us as people and all of our needs, allowed us to have late checkouts when we were running late and helped us with TV's and room needs late at night. Clean and friendly staff. Decent hot breakfast, has the wagfle maker and can never go wrong with fresh made waffles. Short drive to all local attractions. Will say that when staying on first floor can hear foot steps above but was quiet before 930 and did not wake me up in am.

stayed here when we moved our daughter to UCSC. this is a nice BW. clean pool and hot tub. few eating places and store within walking distance. plenty of parking including EV chargers. Staff were friendly. Will definitely stay in the future.

in this area many spend $100 - $200 more per night, and get a better property. for what this is, and the area it is in, it was a hit. pillows are not a "10", but the bed and bedding were just fine, and after hours it gets quiet, so a good sleep. jetted tub was deep and spotless. bonus!

The room was clean, comfy, and had everything (nice toiletries, fridge, micro, coffeemaker.) The breakfast buffet was a well stocked variety of hot and cold fresh food and drinks. Best of all ,the front desk staff was outstanding, especially Dustin, who spotted my backpack I'd left behind on the patio after breakfast, called our room and delivered it to me. That day could have ended very differently if he hadn't taken the extra time to make sure a guest hadn't lost everything! We'll be back!

Comfortable beds, speciality coffees 24/7 and the breakfasts were delicious. A safe place, beutiful out door areas and staff were helpful and friendly. Surrounded with restaurants and shopping stores in walking distance.

Fantastic staff Stephanie was wonderful and helped us a lot, she upgraded us to a suite for no extra charge and we loved it because one of us snores badly and we could put that person in the other room and close the door!!! So nice of her and she was just terrific! Steve was wonderful to us and so were John and Dustin! A great staff!

First time there, excellent breakfast. Clean room and very comfortable beds. Kids are still talking about the soft pillows and heated pool. Steve provided excellent customer service. Calm and quite location, but remarkablely close to everything.

From receiving the text giving me the ability to check in online to the beautiful lobby and clean facility and the spacious room where I could get a little work done while visiting family and Keurig style coffee maker. I can't say enough good things about this place. We will definitely be returning for a longer stay in the near future.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The front desk is friendly, efficient, and accommodating to all our needs. The room was very clean and spacious. They have a coffee machine in the lobby which makes a variety; cappuccino, mocha, etc. The breakfast had a nice selection from waffles to fried eggs, sausage patties , biscuits, yogurt, fruit, muffins, toast, etc. When in Capitola this will definitely be our go to hotel!

Great staff, particularly hard-working and very welcoming Dustin. BW hotels are mid-range typically, but this was a cut above with a comfortable room, good lighting, refurbished, and plenty of space as well as a small fridge and microwave. Very clean throughout as well. The free breakfast was what you'd expect for a BW, just adequate. The location is a 10 minute drive to the old part of town and the lovely beach, and along a main commercial though quiet boulevard with plenty of nearby convenience stores. Great value, too, for what you get in this pricey slice of the California coast.

One of the nicests BW we have ever stayed in. Staff was amazingly friendly and attentive. Dustin and Kent at the front desk were a breath of fresh air. Talking with them was so easy. Our room attendant was especially friendly greeting us with a smile every time. The room was perfect! Will definetly stay again.

My room was quiet, clean, had a lot of light, windows that opened to enjoy the fresh air from the ocean. The staff is very accommodating to me to put me in a room far away from the house laundry as I have severe asthma from the strong detergent scents. I have stayed in Capital's Best Western throughout the years and will continue to do so when so whenever I come into town.

We really enjoyed our stay because of the accommodating staff, clean room, and lovely perks. The breakfast was convenient and had something for everyone. Parking was free and the location is excellent for beach and boardwalk. Everything you need is a short distance away. Keep in mind the walls are thin and you can hear the people in the higher floors walking. It wasn't a big deal for us, but just be aware. Their staff is fantastic, kind and considerate. I loved their text communication for check in, throughout our stay and after the trip. We will stay again!

Clean, pleasant decor, helpful staff, great location that's close to a shopping mall, grocery and drug stores, eateries...and they serve a good full breakfast every morning at the hotel! Nice size pool and spa. I would highly recommend staying here.

The room was REALLY lovely, beds super comfy and soft linens and wonderful pillows -- we didn't want to leave the beds! Two sinks, frig, microwave were all nice. Full breakfast very good except for egg offering both days were either cold or not tasty -- scrambled eggs would have been fine! But appreciated the hot breakfast offerings (waffles, egg, bacon or sausage, biscuits and gravy!) in addition to all the cold choices and cereal. I'd stay there again.

We had to be in the Santa Cruz area for the weekend and chose this property based on its stellar TripAdvisor reviews. Admittedly, this opinion is based on only one two-night stay, but I conclude that the nightly prices were a bit higher than was warranted, despite reserving under Best Western Rewards discounts, etc. Perhaps this is a case of demand for rooms in this area on a summer weekend outstripping supply, but I was expecting a bit higher level accommodations than was given. I reserved a mini-suite with fireplace--one of the largest and most expensive rooms. The room I got literally fit the description (see photo) but was a bit tired in terms of furnishings, artwork on the walls, and bathroom fixtures. The room did have a mini-fridge, a microwave and a coffee maker, though no safe. The included breakfast was basic: one hot egg-based entree, plus bacon, cereal, waffles, pastries, fruit, yogurt, etc. The breakfast room was attractive and there were a couple of outdoor tables as well. The pool was a decent size, although walled-in without any landscaping. The hotel had a large free parking lot in the back, which I appreciated. But I had rented an electric car and counted on being able to use the chargers in the parking lot. I tried several times but was only able to get one out of the four chargers to work on only one occasion. Presumably, this is not the hotel's responsibility to maintain the chargers but it was certainly frustrating not to be able to use the chargers on the property. Perhaps the best thing about the hotel is that one can easily walk to various stores and eating places within 3-4 blocks away. But the way the hotel is situated, it is not an easy or close walk to Capitola Beach.

The staff here has good manners. They put your comfort first. They solve and problems or issues that arise to your advantage. We truly felt like guests. The sleep quality was top of the line. The breakfast was yummy with lots of selections.

We stay here when we come to Santa Cruz because it is friendly, quiet, clean and convenient. The area around the hotel is safe and I feel comfortable walking over to the mall or to one of the nearby restaurants.

My friend (who is disabled and in a wheel chair) and I stayed at this hotel because of the storms in the Santa Cruz mountains,.. due to power outages and landslides where we live. My friend was paying cash for it because he didnt want to be unable to get medical attention if needed. We stayed several days always paying cash in advance... $274 for 2 days, then $171 for 1 day, last $465 for 3 days always before the next checkout time at noon. the last time I paid it was quite obvious I was sick... I wore a mask but both eyes were red, coughing etc... I checked out at the end of that time...Still sick... Today I discover my credit card had been billed $465 for the time I had already paid for in cash.. This in turn overdrew my bank account... creating NSF fees. I called as soon as I discovered this but was told, by the same young man I paid the money to, that there was no one there that could help me. This is nearly half of my monthly income..

This was our second stay, although the first one was some time ago. We expect to stay there again. It is easy to access from the main transportation routes. It is quiet. The bed was excellent and the breakfast had a variety of choices. The staff is friendly.

We had the king suite, and found it to be a very clean and spacious room. The hotel is located in a VERY convenient walkable part of town near food and shopping! We would stay here again on our next trip without a doubt!

I always stay at the Best Western By The Sea! It is centrally located to Santa Cruz and sometimes I go to Monterey to “Where The Wild Things Ate” Zoo and Wharf. When in Capitola I visit Gayles Bakery, Betty Burger, Boat Harbor to take fresh fish caught that day packed to bring home and a few other dining experiences. I enjoy all the Coast has to offer❤️

Racist employees, impolite and bad customers service..In you stayed more than one day they won't clean your room. I don't know the area and the only reason I stayed here it was because I attended to a class in this town and this hotel was the closest one.. The elder man in the front desk have none manners, he is the rudest man I've ever meet..

Best Western properties continue to be consistent and clean. There has not been a city I have traveled to in my weekly endeavors that was been sub-par. The hotels continue to be comfortable and well stocked with towels and supplies.

This is our third multi-night stay this past year. As always, we enjoyed our stay at the Capitola Best Western Plus. Greeted upon arrival with a goodie bag for being Elite Rewards Members. The location is convenient and in a nice area. The staff is almost always helpful, polite, friendly, and helpful. Everyone is able to find something to eat; the free breakfast is always a hit with our family. (One suggestion - add a non-nut plant milk. It's great to have the almond milk as a choice, but would be great to have oat milk for instance for those that have allergies.) While there were some issues with our room, the staff was communicative and generally very helpful. The WiFi was reliable and efficient. We also enjoyed the hot tub. The fitness room has a nice variety of equipment, but has smelled musty/smoky the past three times we have stayed there. We use this as our place to stay when visiting our oldest at UCSC. While it's not as close as some of the places in downtown Santa Cruz, it more than makes up for it is peace of mind, comfort, and amenities. There are also lots of good local places to eat, grab coffee, and shop, as well as chains conveniently located nearby (Rite Aid, Target, Whole Foods, for example.) Definitely grab coffee or tea at Verve, ice cream at the Penny Ice Creamery, dinner at Margaritaville, and pizza at Pizza My Heart. If you are there in October, go visit The Great Pumpkin Patch nearby.

Very clean downtown hotel at premium price-point for area. Biscuits and gravy and waffles included. Easy parking. Older property updated with stripped down ultra modern decor that felt clean but not especially welcoming. Bed was great.

If you're looking for a great place to stay in Capitola pick this best Western plus. it's clean it's quiet and the employees are especially helpful and very pleasant. The room was excellent. Very clean and you didn't hear your neighbors very much at all. I will stay here again when in the area.

I'll start by saying that my family and I were visiting Capitola for the first time for our anniversary trip with the little ones. Upon arrival, the staff wished us a happy anniversary and upgraded our room to the two bedroom suite with jacuzzi tub and fireplace, which was fantastic! Would highly recommend this Best Western Plus to anyone planning a Capitola trip, and we are excited to hopefully return in the future!

We stayed at this hotel for two nights recently for our first visit at this property. The hotel is centrally located and it is easy to get to both Santa Cruz and Capitola beaches. The staff was very friendly and the hotel very clean. The rooms have a beach decor that fits in well with the area. The rooms are well-appointed and have everything one might need, including fridge and microwave. We were very impressed with the breakfast. They have eggs, bacon, biscuits, gravy, cereal, waffles, and all the other typical breakfast foods. The area is kept very clean. The beds are very comfortable. We plan on returning here again as it is one of the nicest Best Western properties we have ever stayed at.

Staff are always professional and friendly. Place is always clean. Breakfast is good and hearty (not cheap muffins and coffee like other places). Always my go to place for a Santa Cruz business or leisure.

The staff are all amazing!!! Particularly Shala - she really cares about her customers! Highly recommend this location to stay. Dustin is attentive too. The only improving suggestion that I would have for this hotel is to replace/upgrade their AC system with a more quiet one.

Good location, easy to find. Plenty of parking. Fun beach decor. Soft towels. We had a room on the 3rd floor. Our room had 2 sinks, pretty fancy for a Best Western. Only problem I can think of is that there was no coffee in the lobby except during breakfast

Our first trip to Capitola was unexpectedly enjoyable starting with this BW Plus. It is beautifully maintained and the front desk personnel made every interaction a pleasure, quickly solving the few problems we had. The recent redecoration is fresh and inviting looking and the room we had was large and very comfortable. The flooring is uncarpeted so I wonder how noisy that can be. We were on the top floor and it was quiet. Having an extra sink/counter/mirror outside the bathing area is a bonus! The breakfast room is roomy and offers a reasonable selection of items, hot and cold. Coffee and hot water served in the kinds of carafes that get sort of tepid, but it was fine. The location is easy to find with plenty of well lit parking and close to shops and restaurants. This place is a gem!

We have stayed at this property at least once per year for about a decade. We no longer even shop for a different place as the stay here is predictable and comfortable. We tend to stay near peak season, so pay peak rates. Getting a little hard to adjust to the ever increasing expense, but will continue to stay here.

We really enjoyed our time there. The room was spacious, the breakfast robust, and the kids really enjoyed the pool. Everything was clean and comfortable. I would definitely stay there again in a heartbeat.

This hotel was the best and very accommodating. I would recommend for families or couples. The amenities were a plus and the pool was never crowded. The staff was very friendly and the price of the hotel was reasonable. The food was great and was mixed with convenience and cooked meals.

Hotels in California are expensive when compared with Europe and many lack character. As they go, this seemed as good as you will find. Very nice, clean family room. Decent breakfast. Good location and a nice, warm pool. Big shout out to Steve on the reception desk who was very professional, welcoming and created a good impression.

We liked everything about the hotel except the constant noise: noise from rooms above and adjacent, noise from the hallways, noise from outside. The hotel is well-located near restaurants, shopping and local attractions. Rooms are large and clean, breakfast was standard fare and adequate. The staff was capable, friendly and helpful. The noise issue was paramount for us and is probably not something the hotel can easily rectify as it is the product of inferior sound-proofing and large numbers of loud patrons. Questionable if we will return.

One of the better hotels in Capitola. However, due to location, quite overpriced. If you're looking to be near Monterey, the drive is often congested and will take an hour although only 20 miles. Therefore, price / rate is hard to accept.

I love this Best Western Plus! My 3 Grandkids and I stayed 3 nights at the BW Capitola Hotel and we were all absolutely satisfied. The staff all went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure we had everything we needed, very welcoming to say the least. The hotel lobby and common areas were kept very, neat, tidy and clean. The rooms were and commons areas all had updated furniture that was in great shape. The breakfast selections were awesome. We could have a full breakfast with eggs, bacon and toast or sausage, gravy and biscuits. Waffle makers worked ( big plus) or I could just have granola w/raisins and yogurt for a lighter breakfast and never ending coffee. We spent hours at the pool and hot tub each day and met some friendly travelers for some great conversation. Oh! I forgot to mention the location which was the main reason for choosing this BW, near all the fun beach activities one could want and great weather to boot. We stayed at another BW Plus in South SF for 2 nights prior and did the SF beaches and Academy of Science and had a great time but the place you call home base needs to feel home & comfortable, the SF BW did not meet the bar. If I could do it all over I would have spent 5 days at the Capitola BW. I will definitely stay at this location during future visits ~ Satisfied Customer Lol!

Great little hotel appreciate everybody that works there especially when I get into room 123 the whole crew does a good job even for the breakfast in the morning the weight room is very nice with three exercise machines hardly anybody ever down there haven't used the pool or Spa yet but I highly recommend it

Extremely close to Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk! You dont have to stay at one of the strip motels, stay in a better location with better service, amenities, friendly staff and immaculate rooms. Plus breakfast, how do you go wrong with the best night sleep.

My daughter had a sand soccer tournament in Santa Cruz so we chose to stay the weekend in Capitola. I stayed here once before in 2019 and the experience was great, so I figured we'd stay again! My family and I enjoyed our stay.

Not crazy about being made to feel like less than a legit guest because we booked through a third party (horrible experience) when paying nearly $1400 for 2 nights. Bad way to start our stay. And this 200 characters business is another slap in the face when I'm taking the time to respond to your survey. Last time I will do ghat!

Excellent customer service, clean well decorated rooms, good breakfast, nice pool. We extended our stay an extra night and they were very helpful. Short drive into Capitola village. Beds were comfortable. I wish it was a little more walkable to the beach.

My husband and I took our 7 year old grandson to Capitola for four days for his Christmas present. Our stay could not have been more perfect. Our double queen room was very spacious. We very much appreciated the large desk as well as plenty of drawers and closet space to put our stuff. The hotel was immaculate and the staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful. The breakfast room was large and the selection plentiful. Our grandson loved the pool area. The pool was heated and situated to get lovely sun. The pool furniture was very nice. The location was excellent. Easy access to Santa Cruz and towns south of Capitola. We have stayed at many Best Westerns over the years. This was definitely one of the nicest.

We spent 2 nights here while visiting family in the Santa Cruz area. Our room was clean, quiet and comfortable. The beds were a bit on the soft side around the edges (from people sitting on the edge to watch TV, but once you were away from the edges it was fine. Our room included a refrigerator and microwave. We did not have a chance to use the breakfast service because we were visiting family. Nor did we have a chance to use the pool, so we cannot comment on those things. We would definitely stay here again when in town.

Really surprised at the hot breakfast Buffett. Beds and pillows are very comfortable. Recommended to my neighbors!

Rooms are clean and nice. Seems recently updated. If you want your room cleaned, they happily will do that, or just give you clean towels and dump the trash; just ask for what you want. Breakfast was good. Lots of restaurants near-by and nice walk to Capitola Esplande.

There were quite a few small bugs in the bathtub and crawling on the walls. I was travelling with my two teenage kids so we had requested two queens, when we went to the lobby, they put us in a room with a king and a pullout. Imagine a 16 and 13 year old sleeping on a lumpy pullout, good times.

Excellent location, excellent room condition, breakfast was really great, pool was clean and heated! Hot tub available and was so happy we could walk to local destinations and not worry about parking, traffic or being far from the frewway. Overall one of the best western's i have ever visited.

I never realized that other places with a check out at 10 or 11 cut the vacation short. After the yummy breakfast and after we were all packed it was only 9:30am and we realized that we still had plenty of time to enjoy the pool for quite a while and get changed for the trip home. The place was also clean, had a great breakfast variety and was accommodating with a pack n play for the baby to sleep in. Made for a great time! It was 4 minutes from capitola beach and 10ish to Santa Cruz! Great spot!

My room was beautifully decorated and spacious. Enjoyed the pool and the hot tub. The complimentary breakfast was first rate. Maybe could use a few more handicap parking spaces. Aside from that everything was top rate. Thank you

Very good hotel. Staff was very friendly. Front desk was helpful. And I was impressed that one of the hotel employees stopped what he was doing to hold the door for me while I was carrying luggage in. Room was clean and spacious and had a new feel to it. I was concerned about street noise but the street quieted down at night so it was not a problem for me.

My main concern was the shady people that were hanging out in the bushes below our 2nd story window right behind the dumpsters. Also the people directly above us kept us awake almost the entire night on our first night.

This Best Western was a very clean property with excellent breakfast and customer service. Rooms were great and the bed very comfortable. This was our third stay here, and we will be back gain. Hotel is close to many restaurants, the beautiful beach and shopping.

Capitola is my favorite place to stay. Hotel is conveniently located to niche restaurants as well as 1 block from grocery, pharmacy and other shops such as See's Candy. I felt absolutely safe The room was updated 100%, clean and larger than most chain hotels. Carpet was replaced with laminate which was friendly to my allergies. Staff was friendly and I recommend it highly.

Great centralized location, friendly staff, clean hotel. Lovely decor. Easy parking, quiet. This Best Western has efficient check in processes, sending text messages to speed up checking in. But even if you don't elect the digital assistant, your checked in in record time. Free breakfast buffet is well stocked and frequently cleaned and restocked throughout the morning.

dam vending machine stole my money. do not put 5 dollar bills in. the room smelled musty. people outside in the parking lot being nosey. had 1 person parked in their car for hours outside as if they were watching the place! hot tub was the only thing that made it somewhat ok

The Best Western in Capitola was great! I'm a hotel snob (sorry but I am) & I had zero complaints with this BW. Room was ready early and we appreciated the text telling us that. Gentleman checking us in was so friendly! The room was very large and spotless. I used the laundry, which was great with top notch machines that actually worked. Breakfast was great too, so much better than the Hamptons or Hyatt Places we normally frequent. Wr may become Best Western Plus converts!

Very friendly staff. We were fortunate enough to be upgraded to a mini suite. Nice & clean, just needed to request an extra box of tissues. Rachel at the front desk brought it up right away. Breakfast was a nice selection of hot and cold options. Good coffee. Thank you!

This hotel is nice- it was quiet, neat and clean. No fancy, but just nice. Workers were super friendly and helpful. I interacted with about 4 front desk persons and 2 breakfast attendants. SUPER Friendly, all the time, day and night.

Stayed here for 1 night. Really great hotel! Extremely friendly staff and nice amenities. Steve at the front desk and Stephanie the General Manager were both really great and made it a very special stay. The next time I'm up in Santa Cruz or Capitola area I'm definitely staying up here again.

Nice room, very comfortable bed. WiFi was strong which was important as I did have to work some while I was here. Pretty quiet. Like the mini fridge and microwave in the room. Plenty of space. Good breakfast bar included with lots of options from cereal to make you own waffles to hot entrees, fruit, oatmeal, pastries, etc. Lots of parking with easy access.

Our visit started out on the positive side right when we got there. Ken was at the front desk and couldn't have been nicer. The room was clean and very comfortable. The location was great. This morning we had a wonderful complimentary breakfast prepared by Bonita. Beautiful place!

I was staying under $200 in my price search, and this hotel was priced out $100 plus change, but the appearance, cleanliness, service, and overall experience was that of a $200 plus hotel. I did not want to leave! I asked for a room with a Jacuzzi tub because of its therapeutic property for my back, and it was amazing! The upgrade cost $20, which was well worth it! This was the nicest place I've stayed in andI am looking forward to returning with my family on a vacation visit!

I stayed here for the first couple of nights of an extended vacation along the northern California coast. It's conveniently located in the charming seaside town of Capitola, not too far from the waterfront, and close to Hwy. 1. It was clean and quiet and everything worked in my room. Just what I was looking for. The staff was welcoming and helpful.

this bestern western plus in capitola in a nice hotel. right on 41st. ave.,, close to alot of restaurants and stores. i thought it was gonna be closer to the esplanade, or at[least walking distance, but it wasn't. very clean room. nice decorated, with ocean colors. comfortable queen beds. the parking was very convenient, with back entrance/access to rooms. wifi worked well, easy connection. nice hdtv. refrigerator, coffee maker, microwave. we didnt get up early enough for the free breakfast. we would definitely stay here again, when in the area. very clean hotel. quiet nights sleep.

I was in town to attend my daughter's wedding. And I could not be happier with my decision to stay at the BW Capitola. Everything about the hotel was exceptional. We got a suite and it was very comfortable plenty of rooms for our children 3 and 5 years old. The breakfast was very wonderful! Lots of places to dine and in case you forgot anything there are plenty of stores around, Target, CVS, a Mall! Capitola Beach was very close and we had an amazing time! Cute little shops and restaurants! I would definitely recommend this place...Children's Museum inside the Mall for young families!

The cost of staying one night was way out of line for what we received. The management of the Hotel was very good but as said the cost for what we had was not good at all. Understanding costs have increased but this was out of line

This location is clean, comfortable, smartly appointed rooms, two queens beds were comfortable, plenty of parking, breakfast was spectacular with plenty of hot & cold options. Friendly, helpful staff. Plenty of eating options in the area. Enjoyed our stay and would recommend this property!

Great stay beds were comfortable!! Only complaint was the fan grate in the shower was disgusting. But other than that it was great. Will definitely stay here again. Breakfast was yummy and hot and ready.

Excellent value in a well-redone hotel. Staff most welcoming and informative; including information about the hotel and the Capitola/Santa Cruz area. The hotel is well set up, rooms spacious and clean. The level of service indicates that the staff is happy in their work and that management provides training and direction.

This is a very clean hotel with very good staff. There are no cameras for security in the parking lot and there are a lot of less than desirable characters in the area. The furniture is also not the most comfortable- the bed is hard and the fake wood floors are not comfortable to walk on barefoot so bring slippers.

Enjoyed our stay and met our needs. Close to Target, CVS, Kohls, etc. to pick up last minute and forgotten items before moving our child onto the UCSC campus. Rooms are clean and staff is friendly. Awesome breakfast! Pool and jacuzzi are a bonus.

Everything from the staff, to the cleanliness, to the wonderful breakfast was great. Easy & quick check in, our room looked like it had recently been remodeled with an ocean theme, everything was clean. Didn't use the pool, but the area looked nice, and they had some outside seating in the courtyard. If we should come back to Capitola, we would definitely stay here again. Love the 12:00 check out time.

The hotel was very clean and well run. Checking in was quick and easy because they sent us information beforehand. The hotel is in a great location with beaches nearby and lots of restaurants and small shops in walking distance. We definitely enjoyed our stay and will be returning the next time we are in the area.

I had a great time with my daughter for two nights. Staffs were extremely friendly and the overall cleaninness was beyond my expectation. Pool water temperature was warm enough to enjoy swimming in the morning and evening and the hot tub was also very nice. You have lots of restarants and stores in waling distance which was very convenient for us too. The neighborhood was pretty quite except for couple of wilde drivers at night.

Check in was fast and easy. The room had ants crawling all over the floors and even in the bathtub. The layout and decorations in the room were nice. Location was convenient. Plenty of parking. Breakfast was good.

We had a great stay at the BW Capitola by the Sea. We picked a place the night before that was so bad we could not stay another night. Everything at the BW was great from the staff, clean room, and great breakfast. I hope to come back.

First off Stephanie resolved our issue today with a full refund. I wrote back thanking her and said we would return. It's the after email that upset more than the issue. When we arrived our room wasn't ready. When we did get access we found a couple of hairs in the tub. That and the fact of how they recleaned was are complaint. Stephanie as I said resolved this to our satisfaction. Then I got this. Hi Mark Clifford, In reading your response to our apology, we can certainly deduct $50.00 plus tax off of your bill. Our sincere apologies for the two hairs that were found in the bath tub, most of our housekeeping staff have been at the hotel for many years. We take your unhappiness with this very seriously. We hope to see you again so that we may offer you superior experience at our property and a room upgrade next time you visit Capitola. I will make the adjustment to your bill and email you a receipt. Thank you, Christine The fact of the sarcastic attitude about 2 hairs got me. Whether it was 1,2or 50 hairs shouldn't matter. The tub with the 2 hairs was not clean. Would you want food with 1or 2 hairs? That's my point. I want to recommend this place because 2 years ago we stayed here and it was great. This time everything went to crap. The breakfast was great though. Whoever this Christine is needs to learn customer service.

Lost track of how many times I have stayed here in the last year or so. I really like the location with a host of shops, restaurants and other amenities very close by. The staff is very seasoned and super helpful and friendly.

We have stayed several times at Best Western hotels in the Capitola and Aptos area and have had very good experiences. The rooms are neat and clean the staff is friendly and the breakfast is Fantastic especially for a family. You can get up walk over there and grab a bowl of cereal or some eggs and bacon make a waffle get some coffee and be in and out in 10 or 15 minutes.

This is a good location as it's just off the highway. Rooms are comfortable but average. There is an excellent restaurant on the property and the breakfast was very good. It's a reasonable value for the money.

We had a great time!! Our room and service was amazing. The staff are great I would like to say that the kitchen folks and housekeeping were super friendly and helpful!!! We will definitely stay here again. We have stayed twice. Now!!

Great place to stay. This hotel is located within walking distance to shopping, the beach and restaurants. Our room was very clean and due to COVID precautions, we weren't able to receive daily housecleaning services. However, the cleaning staff were accommodating when we needed extra towels or bathroom supplies. The breakfast buffet resumed the following morning after our arrival and the staff were great in getting everything together. The staff here are very friendly and accommodating. This was our first getaway since COVID started and it was nice to get away from 100+ degree temperatures. We will definitely be staying here the next time we visit Capitola.

We were there with family and friends for a softball tournament. The pool was the highlight for sure for the kids. The room is an average, clean, small space but had good Accommodations. And a breakfast that was available early which was helpful for our trip. The staff was also super friendly.

Not informed at check in you needed to “request” maid service. Front desk said it was in Emailed confirmation. Said I booked through third party and received no email he said this has been problematic. Told that we were being upgraded at check in! The “upgraded” room had the staircase right behind our headboard wall, was next to the ice/vending machines. We had to keep the blinds and windows closed the whole time because tables in a patio area looked right into our room. Pool and hot tub were located right next to patio area. So if noise from people trodding up and down stairs, ice machine, pool, and patio all day and night long is considered an upgrade….I would hate to see the regular rooms! MAKE SURE YOU ARE NOT “UPGRADED” TO ROOM #121

Staff here was amazing. They took extra care to ensure my family's needs were met. We stayed here 3 nights and noticed how clean everything was kept. We really enjoyed the convenient location to so many attractions and great food options. My kids really enjoyed the nearby beaches!

We were not allowed an upgrade at checkin as an elite member, but told that we already had one. Yes, I had an upgraded room that I originally booked and paid for. When we needed someone to plunge the toilet, I was told that they were not allowed in the room and we needed to do it ourselves. We were handed a very flimsy plunger. We also asked for towels to replace the towels used to soak up the overflowing toilet water, and were scoffed at by the front desk. We stayed multiple nights and were not told at check-in that our rooms are only cleaned if requested at the front desk, so after returning from the beach and stepping into a sandy, unkept room I called the front desk. When told of this policy, I asked for a broom or vacuum to clean the room myself and was told that the front desk does not have access to these things and maybe he could find a little broom. So I swept my room with a little broom as best I could. The hotel's decor is beautiful and amenities are great, but if expecting good service, don't stay there.

We always love staying here. Very convenient to everything. They really did their best with all the Covid restrictions. The rooms are very nice and roomy. The staff is great. The gal doing our grab snd go breakfast was so organized.

Very clean and quiet hotel. Convenient location very near dining, shopping, commute and most importantly the beach. Breakfast buffet was closed. We would've preferred it open but under the current terms it's understandable. Would definitely recommend this place and plan to stay there on our next visit.

We stay at Best Western properties whenever possible, and many have been very good. This one is the BEST of the Best Westerns we have experienced.... Immaculate, beautifully decorated inside and outside, super comfortable beds, well located in a great tourist area. Breakfast selection was excellent with many healthy choices. The most outstanding part was the amazing staff who went out of their way to take care of anything we needed, always courteous and with a welcoming smile and offer to help in any way. A big thank you to them all for making our stay in Capitola our best ever!

BW Capitola By-The-Sea is in a great location to explore Santa Cruz and Capitola. It is out of the main traffic area and is surrounded by many restaurants, grocery and shopping areas. Very quiet and relaxing.

Best Western hotels always cater to the needs of their guests in many simple but practical ways. Immaculate rooms, very affordable, has all you need-microwave, fresh towels, and firm bed. In Covid times, Standards are high, yet very price friendly. .For a few $ more get a bigger room, . Super clean and the packed breafast have everything you need, warm sandwhich, fruits, cereal, beverage, muffins. water.. Simple but they always try hard, They are also generous with upgrades, and the lady distributing breakfast gives you a warm smile you can feel through the mask. Location is in the heart of town but 15 minutes walk to the beach. Will stay here again.

I had checked in here with my wife and daughter while my wife was recovering from some serious medical issues. I was working remotely for a major tech company from the room during the day. After several days without issues, we were asked to leave by Christina and Steph (the GM) without any explanation except they were “uncomfortable” us continuing our stay. The GM accused my wife of “making accusations” when she inquired about whether our room key was given out to anyone else after duplicate keys were mistakenly given to both me and my wife without checking any ID (the staff had never seen my wife at the time). They claim that they check ID before giving out keys but I can attest that this is false. We have since taken our business to another hotel and will never use this one again. Avoid at all costs!

Liked · I liked my in-room whirlpool and the wonderful amenities-lemon scented soaps- that were provided, as well as the ease to local locations. It was easy parking and I was on the bottom floor. The room had personality--it was a bit 70'-ish blue seaside. It was a nice sized room with a seating space or two. The evening male manager was very very nice, and obviously enjoys seeing travelers. Disliked · It could have been a little quieter, not that it was too loud, but I could hear people in the hallways quite a bit. Also, the bed was super soft--like the frame was bending, (I sold beds for a living--i know an older frame when I see one). So, I wasn't comfortable.

In town for an emergency pet surgery,though we did not keep kitty here,searching for a good place in Santa Cruz. We found a GREAT place! We booked over the phone as questions needed answers. Kade was so kind in helping us register. All the staff also very helpful in all ways. This is our next/only place to stay.

We loved this Best Western in Capitola, CA. The staff knew the true meaning of hospitality. We have never had a more relaxing or enjoyable stay at a hotel. There concierge was extremely thorough and made sure we had everything we needed. The jacuzzi tub was the icing on the cake.

This was a leisure trip for the weekend. Staff was amazing and the location was close to everything we wanted to see and do. Close enough to walk to shopping and a straight route to the coast. We will return!

During these COVID days, it's been really sad to have the bare bones of a grab and go breakfast. We were pleasantly surprised at the choices which this Best Western offered. Very nice! Other nearby hotels give you a water, stale granola bar, and an old apple. Not here, which is why we will return!

We arrived, my partner and I a little after 3 PM. Most places are sticking to their check in time because of the COVID. They say it takes more time to clean and disinfect the rooms. We were greeted by very friendly desk clerk who efficiently processed the paperwork and checked us in. The room we given had a queen size bed. The room was clean and had a microwave, a refrigerator, coffee maker and flat screen TV. The breakfast they offered in the morning was something called Grab and Go. They hand you a brown paper bag with a granola bar and a piece of fruit. You can add to the bag by telling them what else you would like from a posted menu. The choices were from the menu were good.

Quiet, most comfortable, excellent customer service, nicest rooms (after Seascape Resort in Aptos) -- and close to beach and hip/trendy end of 41st Avenue. Even during COVID-19, they made my stay comfortable, safe and enjoyable.

We had a wonderful vacation, and our hotel helped make it great. Very clean. And all staff was extremely friendly. Specially the front desk help. We will definitely be staying here again. I suggest getting a room with a jacuzzi tub. It was awesome

Our toilet was clogged. I called the front desk when we woke up at 730 am. I was told I could come grab a plunger as maintenance would not be there til 10 am. I was travelling by myself with two young children. This type of response is completely unacceptable. I cannot leave two kids by myself to go to the front desk. And we couldn't even use the toilet!

I arrived a little earlier than the standard Check-In hour and was allowed to Check-In early. Staff was great! Great customer service at this location. Grounds looked clean. Room looked clean, though there were a couple of pebbles and a bit of sand on a section of the little couch. Pool and Gym are closed during Covid as one may expect.

Less than a mile walk to Capitola, so great location. Hotel feels very clean and new. Everything is in good shape. The staff was super friendly. During COVID the breakfast is like a lunch bag, but really nice effort versus nothing.

Steve and Christina are two of the best front desk people although all of them are great this place is friendly clean committed to your health and well-being especially now with the coronavirus very helpful in fulfilling any needs that you need while you're staying there maid service is very courteous and friendly I always try to leave a tip because they are very hard workers.

My boyfriend is a general contractor and has been in charge of remodeling hotels. This room was VERY handsome! You did hear people going down the hallway, but not as loud as I was afraid of since our room was RIGHT off of the elevator. Bummed that we weren't told where the pool and gym were. If they had been pointed out, we would have utilized them! We got wrapped up with other things instead. Everyone was very sweet. We will most likely stay again!

I had a wonderful experience staying here. The rooms have been beautifully renovated and everything needed to make the stay perfect was thought of. My son and his family live in Santa Cruz and this will be my go-to option from now on when I visit.

This Best Western Plus is located in the non-beachy area of Capitola - but is just a short drive from the scenic beaches. We stayed on the 3rd floor, which was quiet enough. The breakfast was above average for this price range hotel.

Hotel and staff were excellent, but the phone reservation was hijacked by a third party, which cost me extra money and the loss of my reward points. Be sure you are speaking directly to the hotel when you make your reservation, and not a third party.

Upon our arrival, the staff was friendly and curtious and very helpful with directions and maps. The room was very clean, spacious, and nicely decorated. The room had a frig, a microwave and a 2nd sink and mirror outside of the bathroom. This made it very convenient for 2 people sharing a room. I especially liked the fact that there was no carpeting, just tiled flooring that looked like wood. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. I highly recommend this property and will stay here again, at my next visit.

Very clean hotel, great pool, nice staff but extremely noisy and didn't not get any sleep. Walls are very thin, heard doors slamming all night. We were on the bottom floor and it sounded as if their were elephants above us all night long.

Great Getaway for my husband and I.We wanted somewhere near the beach that had a swimming pool.It was great because the pool here is heated all year round.Such a pleasant place and with a good breakfast included.The front desk was nice and friendly definitely made us feel welcome and comfortable.We enjoyed our stay and we will be back soon with more guests.

We stayed at the Best Western on 41st. Great location rooms were neat clean. personnel was very friendly. Excellent breakfast. I will stay there again. We came there to celebrate my son"s 50th Birthday. It was close to restaurants and the beach. close to Capitola. We were able to get a 2 bedroom suite for a very affordable price on New Years eve.

Been there, done that! Stayed in several to many hotels in Capitola by the Sea. I'm going to have to continue to recommend Best Western Plus Capitola By-The-Sea Inn & Suites. Including the Monarch Inn... I believe I've now stayed at every Hotel in this Village. Some of them numerous times. Along the lines of numerous stays...the Best Western Plus in Capitola. This has been my 'go to' hotel for over 2 years now. Those of you visiting the Santa Cruz County area, check this place out 1st. That is, try to get a room here. It WILL be worth your money and while to make it happen. Beautiful grounds, Location, location, location......41st Ave. Capitola California Boys and Girls..... It's the real deal. Fabulous location, wonderful grounds, stupid, ultra modern decor, centered around surfing here in Capitola, ultra friendly to those of us from Oklahoma or Michigan, or hey, even Santa Cruz. Understand that Capitola by the Sea is a World Class Destination. Hook up a room at the Best Western Plus Capitola, and you can enjoy the entirety of the Monterey Bay from your beautiful hotel room. Myself and my Family will continue to come here. I feel guilty making the place public as it's our little private hotel here in Capitola.

This is a gem. What a wonderful place to find! The hotel was spotless, comfortable & all of the staff were fantastic help. They gave us tips on the town, places to eat things to do & the info was at their fingertips. Fresh cookies baked when we arrived. I can say enough, other than it's well worth the stay when your in Capitola

So noisy you wont sleep. Terrible insulation among other issues. Super loud generator on one end of building. Can hear EVERYTHING from rooms next door. There are lots of other options in the area, use them.

The hotel was located near shopping and restaurants. Neat and clean.The beds were comfortable and the location of the elevator was convenient to all the areas of the hotel. Nice and quiet. I would stay again.

We stayed for an extended weekend. The staff was very accommodating and friendly and the hotel was extremely clean. Pleasantly surprised with this No frills but comfy hotel. Breakfast was great and location is ideal for visiting both capitola village and Santa Cruz beach boardwalk.

We made a last minute reservation due to power outage in Santa Cruz Mtns. We were pleasantly surprised by the fresh/modern decor. Vey soothing sea glass colors. Extremely clean and well cared for. Comfy ed, quiet room on the third floor. Great location for a quick drive to the Village or to Santa Cruz. Staff was extremely friendly & accomodating.

We had been experiencing power outages in Santa Cruz, Ca., and needed a place to prepare for an all day flight in the morning and a good night's sleep. All of which we recieved with grace from the hotel staff. I consider your greatest asset. Than you.

We wanted to stay in a nice place and just enjoy Capitola. Staying at this BW made that possible. I was very impressed from the day I called and made the reservation. Christine was so helpful and made me feel so welcome. The entire time was so fun and the everything was excellent.

I usually stay at a big chain for points, however when I'm in this area I always stay at the BW Plus Capitola. Today I had a personal emergency, and needed a special request. The Mgr (sorry but I didn't get her name) did everything she could to help me out... and this was not the first time this establishment has shown this level of service. Always clean, breakfast is what is to be expected and again, clean. Rooms too are always clean and beds are very comfortable. Compare the price with neighboring places and you're sure to see the value. Thanks again BW Plus!!

We stayed two nights to celebrate a birthday. The location was not too far from the beaches and restaurants. Room was very nice, clean and comfortable. Internet was good and we had enough outlets to charge our devices. Breakfast had a variety of foods, area was clean, and not too crowded.

Stayed here for 1 night on a coastal road trip. The room was beautiful; loved the hardwood floors and everything was very fresh and clean. Good complimentary breakfast. Didn't have much time to explore the area but there are several shopping and dining options nearby. Pretty close to Santa Cruz and a much better deal compared to Santa Cruz properties for my travel dates. Will definitely come back!

Wonderful accommodations, nicely decorated and spacious room. Good full breakfast. Friendly and helpful front desk staff. Centralized location. Will definitely return. Only suggestion is to alternate omelette and scrambled eggs instead of scrambled eggs 4 out of 5 mornings.

We love staying at Best Western Plus Capitola By-The-Sea Inn & Suites. We've stayed there many times over the years and will be back. The staff is very friendly, breakfast is great with so many options to choose from.

This hotel i located close to the beach and to shopping centres. Clean and nice both outside and inside. Rooms are spacious. Pool located in the middle of the building. Breakfast standard and fully OK even though I would like some fresh fruit sallad in the morning.

The location of the hotel is most convenient to enjoy the city of Capitola. The staff at the reception desk was efficient. The coffee, served in carafes. was not hot. As a morning coffee addict, I found this to be undesirable.

I have never had such a bad stay in room 202 trash truck at 4 am People upstairs super noisy at 10 till 11pm I called the desk and it seemed to help a little.This was My 1st and last stay with Best Western

This property worked well for us and our two-year-old granddaughter. The front desk staff was particularly helpful. The chocolate chip cookies were a treat. Our granddaughter very much enjoyed the pool. The hotel is a 15-20 minute walk from the beach or a short Uber trip. We needed to extend our checkout to 1:00, and our request was promptly granted.

We arrived around 8pm and were lucky to get an upgrade to a junior suite. The room was fantastic, there was no noise at all. The service at the front desk was very friendly. The free breakfast was good.

Best Western had a clean large room for our 4-person family to stay at the last minute. Service was friendly and helpful when we had an emergency with our youngest child. Room was very clean and decor felt new. Breakfast in the morning is definitely an amenity we enjoyed! Great value for the cost. We'll definitely be back!

Overall, pretty good hotel! Positives: Friendly staff, early check-in / late check-out. clean and quiet rooms. rate was pretty average for the Santa Cruz area. Things that could have been improved: Softer mattresses and more comfortable pillows would have been appreciated (the solid foam pillows were too thick, and there were no options), clear signage in the lobby marking the fitness room (we finally found it at check-out near the pool), nice carpet instead of the vinyl flooring would have given the room a softer look instead of the Safeway appearance, higher quality faucets would have been appreciated (the bathroom faucet was very difficult to move, and the tub faucet was loose), and finally the "breakfast" was pretty minimal (cereal, muffins, canned fruit, scrambled egg mixture, sausage).

This hotel is a very good choice when traveling to Capitola. Close to everything, shopping, movies, great places to eat, and near the wharf. We've stayed there several times and have always been pleased with our visit.

Brought my mom on a trip to see family and spend time at the ocean. Our room was very clean and comfortable. We ate breakfast in the dining room while we were there and the food was fresh and the tables were clean. The hotel is pretty close to beaches and restaurants.

The rooms and hallways were newly remodeled,wooden floors. The hotel was done in turquoise and shells. Breakfast area was very clean. Water pressure was fantastic. We were travel down the coast for Labor Day weekend.

The hotel is centrally located, close to shopping and restaurants. It was an easy drive off of the 1.Capitola is a lovely town, with a very relaxing atmosphere. The hotel is not far from the beach or the Capitola Village. it is well served by Lyft and Uber to make getting around that much easier. The traffic in the village is challenging. The hotel was quiet and very clean, which although it wasn't in the village, the location was very centrally located and easy to get to everywhere including santa Cruz.

This is very clean, comfortable hotel near the beach, with better rates and amenities than those right on the beach. Staff is friendly and eager to assist. Breakfast could be improved - good variety of selections, but quality of food less than great. Maybe we just hit them on a bad day. Still found plenty to satisfy, before we headed out for the airport in San Jose. A/C a bit noisy as well.

Staff here was very professional. The hotel is clean, modern and for us quiet at night. We had a king room with a fireplace--a wall divides the bed from the sitting area. It was a short walk on 41st to Pleasure Point to watch the surfers. There is a small village along the way and a brew pub. With directions from the front desk it was an easy 20 minute walk to Capitola Village. There is a grocery store next door and East End Gastropub. Other restaurants and the Capitola mall close by. Breakfast fairly typical of hotels but served attractively in a clean and open space. Some outdoor seating. Short drive to Santa Cruz wharf and boardwalk.

We stayed one night in Capitola for a quick getaway with our 7 year old twins. We stayed in the King mini suite and the kids were able to share the pull out sofa. The hotel was clean and well kept. Our king bed was a bit firm for our preference, but everything else was fine. The front desk staff was courteous and got us checked in quickly after a long day at the boardwalk. The kids enjoyed the pool which was clean and peaceful. I appreciated receiving a text when our room was ready and even after we left when it was found that we had left a toy behind in the room. We were still in the area and were able to circle back to the hotel to pick it up.

Need cameras in the parking lot. Some guests had their cars broken into and burglaries. Rest was all OK. Rooms are nice. I wish the AC had an option of Fan ON. Swimming pool water temperature can be warmer.

We took our granddaughter for a quick get a way before school starts. First, the hotel location from the Beach Boardwalk was perfect. Less than 5 miles and the area was beautiful. We got to spend lots of time in the pool and spa which was great. the rooms were great, clean and the bed were perfect! So comfy!! The breakfast was good, above average for the buffet style food. All of the machines worked which is always a PLUS! I would and will be back to this place, we had a blast. I would say it was a 5 if the cost was better. I feel the rooms were expensive but I'm still happy.

We stayed at this hotel for the first time, but it was always recommended to us. We never had been able to get a reservation. My daughter's room had a major plumbing problem. The general manager and staff exceeded our expectations how they handled this. We will definitely return soon.

A great hotel with a friendly professional staff. We enjoyed our stay very much. The breakfast was good and constantly being refilled. The rooms were spotless and the garden and pool areas very nice. Easy to find with ample parking behind the hotel.

Stephanie Valdez, the General Manager, went above and beyond with our recent wedding accommodations. We had more folks than anticipated that needed rooms and on more nights that I originally arranged. Stephanie was patient and figured out a way to accommodate everyone at the orignal price, upgrading folks when necessary without increasing price. As the Mother of the Groom she definitely made a stressful situation smooooooth. All the feedback after the event was that the hotel was clean, staff was courteous and everything was above their expectations. Thank you Stephanie!!!

The hotel staff does not address any noise disturbances. There were children jumping and running around in the room above during the night and early in the morning. I called the front desk, and they did not care nor take me seriously. I could hear the noise loudly despite ear plugs and the adult in the room above stating that they were kids and so they run and jump. The manager did nothing to remedy the situation. The other amenities offered by this hotel mean nothing to me if I cannot sleep soundly. This made it the worst hotel stay that I've ever had.

I called to make the reservation and Blake was wonderful. When I got there he also checked me in and again a great experience. The room was very clean and I love the ceramic tile wood floor. So much better than carpet. Good location too.

Very clean hotel. Easy to navigate through. Breakfast was delicious. My only negative was very loud garbage trucks at 6am and my faucet wouldn't stop dripping. Didn't get to enjoy the pool becuase it was so packed, but as expected mid July.

This is one of the best room designs that I've experienced. First, the floor is wood, which is clean and fresh compared to carpeting. The seating area, desk and amenities are just perfect for folks who work on the go.

We spent one night at this hotel on our way down the coast. On check-in, Blake directed us to an easy 10 minute walk to the Capitola Warf and beach. Our stay included a free breakfast with lots of yummy options; Seattle's Best coffee is available in the lobby. They also have a small pool and spa which we all enjoyed. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable enough. Firm fluffy pillows, two sinks, carpet-free, ample closet space. Parking out back.

This hotel is elegant, clean and aesthetic. It is not close to the beach but you can walk there 15-20 min, which will be better than driving, cause it is hard to find a parking place near the beach. Capitola beach and village is beautiful and nice to spend time in, and this is a good place even-though not so close to the beach. It is right next to a mall and cinema - 3 minutes walk... so that is another option.

Loved the decor the pull out sofa was nice. Great location near Erik's deli. Main street bagels. Lucky's grocery store. IHOP 24 hour cafe. The place was emasculate. It had laminate flooring which is awesome in a beach town where carpet collects up sand. Definitely will stay here again.

We've stayed here several times over the years and always been happy. Our Room was so nice. Someone spent time to decorate it. The Mural above the Bed and the Rugs! Super comfortable, clean and done well.

After a long drive with 3 children my husband and I brought up and unpacked our suitcases. Then stripped down my 1 year old who got sick on the way for a bath. Went to put him in and there were ants in the bathtub (I'm not talking 1or 2 people, it was clearly a problem!) Went over to the phone, barefoot, to call the front desk and I found myself standing in a fair amount of crumbs! Very disappointing, especially for the price. Cleanliness is what I care about most when choosing a hotel for my family. The only solution was a new room, which is great but was extremely inconvenient at this point. Other than that, it was truly a wonderful hotel in a perfect location with lots to offer!

I made the mistake of booking on Ocean and had serious safety issues. Best western plus Capitola was so much nicer for not much more money. Gorgeous surf themed hotel with complimentary water, cookies, and breakfast. Room was thoughtfully designed with a padded bench with drawers instead of a traditional dresser which was so much more functional. Decor was lovely, room was very clean, staff were so helpful and this hotel is close to everything! A quick drive to the quaint shops and beach at Capitola and still close to to Hwy 1 to go up to the Redwoods. So many State Parks close by! A terrific stay.

We'ver stayed at Best Westerns before, but this one in Capitola was fantastic. It really had more to do with the clerk Blake. He made this weekend perfect. It was my 65th birthday weekend and a gift from my wife and he just made us feel at home.

This hotel gives you fresh baked cookies during check in, great WIFI, EXCELLENT SERVICE, great location..close to everything you could possibly need, fast food, banks, a mall, grocery stores, freeway and not to far from Santa Cruz Boardwalk. The room was so clean..smelled great..had an elevator whic came in handy for my disabled husband. This hotel is just awesome!!!

It was a good area. The hotel was ok. A little expensive. As most hotels in this area. Overall good experience. They can add some veggies for the breakfast menu to go along with eggs and sausage. Jacuzzi tub was good.

But it did! I only stay at this hotel when I am visiting my son at UCSC! The rooms are beautifully renovated and the decor is light, airy and calming! Just what you need after a long drive. And let's talk about the breakfast! Delicious options of hot and healthy options! Don't forget the evening warm cookies and delightful staff! First rate experience every time!

Honestly, I booked this hotel because we needed a place in Capitola and I remembered I had BW points I could use. It looked fine from the website, booked 2 rooms and I barely gave it another thought. We were traveling to Santa Barbara by bicycle, so as we wound our way up the hill, wondering if we were going the right way, I wasn't sure how this would go. We LOVED this place. The ladies at the front desk could not have been nicer. She told me they upgraded our rooms to suites. Sweet!! They had an elevator that our loaded bicycled fit in easily. The decor was perfect for the seaside area - turquoise and white and artwork that depicted local events. The whole ambiance was inviting. Our rooms were beautiful and big - even with a fireplace! (The pilot light in the fireplace made the room a bit warm for me, even on a cool foggy day, so one of the maintenance guys turned it off. For my friends, it made the room temp just right.) The beds were heaven with plenty of pillows of different softness. We decided to go to Whole Foods, just steps away, bought food for dinner and picnic in our room. Had the weather been warmer, we would have gone down the tables with umbrellas near the pool and had our picnic there - but with our suites, our room was perfect for that. It is a relatively short walk down to the water and the center of Capitola from the hotel. My friends went out for a lovely evening stroll after our picnic. Breakfast was delicious, and early (6:30) if we needed to get on the road. The scrambled eggs were hot, not over-cooked and frequently replaced. Great variety of food. Granted, we were cycling and food - breakfast especially - is a big deal. But this was especially nice. A wonderful experience all around.

Very clean. Comfortable rooms. I honestly have no complaints except that the walls/door to the hallway is thin. One night during my stay, there was a group of half a dozen or more people that gathered next to my door to have a pow wow, and it was annoying. I'm sure if I had called and complained to management, they would have disbanded the gathering, asking them to relocate, but I didn't. So that's on me. They offered a continental morning breakfast, but I usually made the five minute morning walk down to Verve Coffee for a morning cold brew. Just a little further, and you've got great views of Pleasure Point. Places to eat and pick up essentials within walking distance of the hotel. Easy freeway access. I really can't complain. Bed probably could have been a little more comfortable, but I'm also a fickle sleeper, so I don't feel like I could deduct a star for it. Honestly, I'll be happy to return if/when I'm back on business. :)

Very nice property. Very clean and excellent customer service. We had trouble regulating room temperature as there was no fan option. Blake gave us a fan and this improved our sleep the second night. Mattress was a bit firm, but overall a pleasant stay. Lovely courtyard, convenient location to area attractions.

Always a favorite place to stay while in Santa Cruz. From the front desk to the maintenance and cleaning employees, everyone is friendly and helpful. The breakfast has something for everyone and is clean and restocked often. I like that it offers both hot and cold options for breakfast. The outdoor seating area is a great place to eat or relax after a long day at the beach. The pool and hot tub area are clean and the hotel provides pool towels for your use. Nice decor and I really love the outdoor garden areas. You can't go wrong with a stay at this hotel!

Best I've ever had at a BW and I've stayed at 100's! They are sooooooo nice!!!!!! The location is awesome, it's so fancy. They are so personal and nice! I felt like I was staying with my family. Can't wait to return someday!

Hotel is centrally located. Can walk to the beach and shops. The beds are very comfortable. The hotel is quiet and relaxing. The only thing was the fitness room area was an after thought. The weight machine was old and rickety. The treadmill kept shutting off on its own. And there were not free weights to work with except a couple sets of 5lb weights. Otherwise I would give this hotel a 10.

Some areas of the room (above the light fixtures) need dusting. The microwave was not plugged into the wall socket because the cord did not reach the wall outlet. We moved the cabinet about 2 feet to plug it in. Overall, a very, very nice hotel and a great experience. We really liked the courtyard and the free parking lot was safe and convenient. The breakfast selection was as good as any I've ever seen!

Right on 41st, surfers alley. I loved the location and the room was beautiful. Not too far from ocean and shopping centers right next to hotel. I will definitely go back when I am in the area. Staff was so nicve and helpful. Alicia was the best.

This is an exceptionally clean, comfortable, and modern hotel with helpful and friendly staff. The breakfast is better than average Best Western and the heated pool is a lovely warm temperature. Landscaping is tasteful and there is a pleasant patio area for sitting outside.

I grew up in the Santa Cruz area and coming back to this area has been a great way to reconnect with my sisters. Only one of four lives in the Capitola area and the rest of us travel from the Midwest. The motel has an awesome breakfast, great coffee and plenty of places to sit and talk or an easy walk to any store you need. The rooms are very comfortable and the king-size room has a desk and a couch as well which provides space to sit and talk.

Overall we had a very pleasant stay at this hotel. It's easy to find not too far from the highway and our check in was a breeze. We booked the only 2 bedroom suite they have as we were two couples traveling together. The rooms were very spacious and clean but we thought the layout was a little odd. The main bedroom had a coffee maker and fridge but only had a 1/2 bath. Then the second bedroom had a full bath but could only be entered through main bedroom (seemed odd there was no separate exit door to hallway). Due to this, it kind of made you feel trapped a little. Anyhow, the beds are extremely comfortable and my favorite part of the hotel. During our stay, I believe they were moving furniture on the floor above and it was pretty loud for a few minutes at a time on a couple occasions but we understand it's an older place and it's to be expected that the soundproofing between floors may not be the best. For this reason, I'd probably recommend a top floor room. Finally, the free breakfast is great! There's lots of choices such as fresh make it yourself waffles, cereal, bagels, danish, eggs, potatoes etc. The coffee to go cups were a nice touch and we took advantage of them on the day we checked out. If we ever come back to Capitola, we would not hesitate to stay here again.

A boutique style hotel, some parts are remodelled and this was our second stay here, unfortunately, the hotel disappointed us this time Dont get me wrong, generally it is a upscale BW+ but so is the price. The good things first: 1) rooms are big and the suites even bigger, 2) the pool has god size and is heated 3) the cookies in the reception in the afternoon are great 4) housekeeping is perfect. Everything restocked and clean The not so good things: 1) the interior design in the rooms is really poor, there is no good feeling when you enter your room. 2) there are no curtains, only blinds 3) only 4 drawers and a small closet in a large suite, why? 4) Breakfast should be better in a hotel like this, it was very average, the coffee was fine but often not varm enough 5) we asked for 1 hour extension of checkout-time, which seem to be a problem, we could have 30 minutes, maybe 45 minutes. Very strange, I am BW Platinum Member, but even without that, it should not have been a problem. And that leads me to the final issue.. 6) the staff at reception was a bit snobbish or arrogant, which seems odd, after all this is not a french rivera upscale hotel.

This was one of the nicest places we have ever stayed. Everything was first rate!.The room was outstanding and the breakfast was just great. Check-in and check-out were both very easy. Everyone was very helpful!!

The location is walking distance to many stores and restaurants. A longer walk takes one to the Pacific Ocean where surfers are visible. The Monterey Bay is also in full view. Capitola is a relaxed town with many choices for food or just nice walks.

I checked into the Capitola Ca. Best Western on 41st Ave., due to a long term power outage at my residence.I walked into the facility around 7pm and was met by the Manager.Service was absolutely top-tier. I travel extensively for business, and have stayed in hotels around the world.This Best Western stood out for 2 main reasons- The quality of personal service I received from the Manager, and the condition of the Hotel/room. We're a small, seaside village in central California. The decor of both my room and Hotel were a perfect fit for the location. Fresh, modern, stylish, and actually beautiful. The room additionally was the cleanest I've ever encountered.Overall, a fantastic experience. I highly recommend this Hotel

Always a great stay! Property is immaculate, convenient and rooms are very comfortable. Easy to get to the village from hotel. Breakfast consists of the staples but nice to have in the hotel. Have stayed here mulitple times and will continue to do so!

My stay was nice. I had a problem with burned out lightbulbs that was addressed right away. The entire staff at Best Western is terrific, especially Christine and Steve. BLAKE is the superstar member of the staff. He offered my granddaughter a cookie, and when I told him she couldn't have gluten, he showed where there was a Gluten-free Bakery right across the street.! Such a kind gentleman.

This is the only place I will stay when I'm in town. It is always clean. The staff are amazing and always kind and helpful. I love the pergo floors instead of carpeted so much more comfortable to be in.

This Best Western is s good alternative to the Marriott next door. I had a very spacious 1 bedroom suite with a separate living/working area for less than $180. I did not appreciate their signing me up for the rewards program without asking. I also did not like the old technology, LED garage style lighting, as for a few dollars more they could deliver soft white LED lighting.

Starting off with my initial call, the gentleman attending me was very attentive, quick and thorough giving us the last mini suite available. When we arrived the next morning, another gentleman greeted my daughter and I, giving us cookies and water while we sat in the lounge area looking for something to do before we were able to check in. We were able to check in early, and get the most out of our stay. Even though there was a bit of remodeling going on, the whole place was immaculate!

Went for a wedding and had a great experience filled with chocolate chip cookies and Extrodinary service I highly recommend this spot if you are planning a trip to Capitola or Santa Cruz. The breakfast was great also

If you read all of my reviews, I don't have a lot of places where I am disappointed. I was looking forward to staying at a property right near 41st/Pleasure Point, so I chose this over the other place down the street. I prepaid and got a good price so that part was good. I called in the am to see if I could get in early and the person said she had a room on the 1st floor with a jacuzzi tub. We were put on the 3rd floor instead. They are renovating, so it's not completely fair to give a 1star rating, but this is what happened. There was a 4 brick step that accompanied an umbrella outside around a pole. I came out of the fitness center and came around the corner at night. I tripped and fell flat on the ground. It was hard enough where my knee was skinned through my pants. I laid there while someone got the desk person. The guy told me I needed to talk to the manager the next morning. He didn't document or take down any information. Bottom line is I came back to inform the manager the next morning and he told me that they've had that there for 10 years and no one has fallen. The manager made comments that led me to believe that it was my fault for not looking down at night. There was no incident report from either and when I wanted to show him my knee, he said he believed me. Really? Not enough to document anything. I won't be back no matter what and I'll go to the Fairfield Inn and Suites which is 1000 feet away.

We had one request when we made reservations for a room with a spa bath - a quiet space. Despite our request, we were put in a room directly opposite the maintenance hub of the entire hotel—the cleaning carts were lined up in the hall way abuzz with staff and the hotel laundry was operating at full scale. After a few minutes in the room, we realized the noise level would be unusually high and we asked to be moved. We were put on the top floor without a spa bath. Unfortunately, in the ‘new' room, the permanently opened vent in the bathroom transmitted the industrial hum of the building's mechanical system located on the roof. It was like sleeping on an airplane even with the bathroom door closed and earplugs. The next morning we again asked to be moved to a quiet room. We were put on the middle floor which was being remodeled. The hallway was full of furniture, sometimes blocking our door, and the workmen installed furniture all day. That night twin two year olds were put in the room directly above us. This hotel is near the beach and all the floors are hardwood so the children sounded like a herd of elephants running back and forth, squealing and crying, until they went to bed. We awoke to the same noise at 5:30 am. That family left at noon, but later in the evening at 5 pm, construction started in the rooms on BOTH sides of us. They were using very loud screw guns that shook the walls and drowned out the tv. The work continued until 6:30. The work crew was gone the next day but resumed at 8am on our final day.We have used Best Western exclusively for several years, and we visit the Aptos/Capitola area a couple times per year to unwind and recoup by the sea. However, this was our first and last visit at this hotel.The front desk man, Blake, was rude and surly. After our first night, I told him that our 5 day stay at his hotel was our vacation as my husband's health (heart/stroke) issues keep us near his physicians. Also, that because of his health we spend most of our time in the room so we requested a quiet spot. Blake grudgingly agreed to move us but when he tried to put us back in the origami room near the laundry, and we told him that had not worked for us, he suggested we leave. He was not interested in spending a moment to help us and we landed on the patio with our luggage for a half hour or so while the day manager took over. On the day we checked out after 5 days, my husband asked if there would be an adjustment in our bill for not having a spa bath. Blake was rude again and the general manager came out and adjusted our bill. Blake told the manager that ‘the wife' was a complainer and that they had moved us 3 times. When my husband explained what we had endured, the manager adjusted our bill and apologized. Hotels are supposedly in the hospitality industry. Those who work the front desk setthe tone for guests. Attitude is everything.We had a rare, awkward and unenviable set of circumstances that grossly inconvenienced us when we desperately needed rest. A gracious and skilled customer service person could have swept our problems away. Sadly, the person trusted to do that chose not to. . . And we will never be back.

BW Plus Capitola By The Sea is a great place to stay. It has very friendly and helpful staff, is conveniently located, lots of parking and very clean rooms. There is a full breakfast in the morning and they keep it well stocked. I have stayed twice in the past month and would not even look anywhere else. Blake has been there for both of my stays and has treated me like a VIP.

Blake was really nice at check out very friendly and helpful. Room was clean and breakfast was good. The manager checked us in was very friendly and the cleaning staff was very thorough. This is the second time staying at this hotel and would stay again.

super noisy, lousy AC, embarrassingly horrible food, and worst of all, THE worst hospitality ever. the front desk is so not helpful and rude to me trying to get a receipt when calling in for my expense reports. never again

I am on the road for business, and I always look forward to going to Capitola so I can stay at the Best Western Plus on 41st Ave. It's very clean, the staff is warm and welcoming as well as professional, they do have a gym, It's only a block from a Whole foods, if you want to eat in your room. It's walking g distance from all sorts of stores, restaurants, and the beach, and it's only a 3 minute drive to the village where more shopping, restaurants, and beach await. And, so important to me, the beds are comfortable, so I sleep well.

Much to my horror I realized I accidently gave my favorite hotel in the Santa Cruz/Capitola area a bad review by not clicking the stars correctly. My family and I have been coming here for 15 years and have always been welcomed back and treated like part of their family. I love Blake and when I check in he often says "welcome home". The entire staff goes out of their way to make your stay enjoyable. Great rooms, awesome breakfast and caring staff.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel 8/6/18-8/8/18! We have stayed at many hotels from Big Sur to Santa Cruz, and this is by far the best, and the best value, we have found! Every single staff member was professional, cheerful, helpful and friendly - with guests and with each other! The grounds are clean and well-kept. Both the grounds and the individual rooms are full of amenities not usually found in this area at this price point. They offer a small but clean pool, hot tub and exercise room. There are rolling luggage trolleys available for use at the entrance from the parking lot. There are fresh cookies at the front counter in the lobby. The lobby area and hotel hallways are attractive. The breakfast offerings are extensive - if you can't find something to eat at their complimentary breakfast you are just too picky and too precious to leave your house. They have eggs, potatoes, turkey sausage, pork sausage, bacon, hard boiled eggs, bread, English muffins, bagels, croissants, cereal, oatmeal, yogurt, fresh fruits, peanut butter, jelly, milk, juice, coffee, tea, all kinds of stuff I'm forgetting, and OMG the waffles! Even the toppings were over-the-top! Besides the usual butter and maple syrup, there were chopped nuts, coconut, chocolate chips, and BOYSENBERRY SYRUP!!! I was in heaven! Our clean, double queen room had a refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, iron, hair dryer, thoughtfully mounted reversing magnifying mirror, toiletries, and plenty of towels. There was a sink in the bathroom of course, but also a sink and counter in the room outside the bathroom - so convenient! The area is very safe! The person who said the parking lot didn't "feel safe" has clearly never stayed anywhere near Santa Cruz! This is a blended commercial and residential neighborhood and the lot backs to expensive residential (not rental) condos. No stray people looking through your car windows, no kids having sex on your car hood, and no junkies leaning up against your car door while they're shooting up. Just clean, safe, convenient and quiet parking. And to top it off, it is easy to get anywhere you want to go from this convenient location. This place is a surprising gem, where they are doing hospitality right! We will absolutely return, and can't recommend highly enough!

I love the Santa Cruz/Capitola area and visit at least three times a year. This is hands down my favorite hotel. Great value, great breakfast and a friendly staff that always welcomes my family and me back.

Good location that is near eateries, just a few blocks from the beach, grocery stores nearby as well as the Capitola Mall. Front desk employees are very helpful and welcoming, as well as the housekeeping staff. It was easy to find and great parking area

We had a spacious suite (It's hard to find places that will sleep 5 comfortably). The breakfast was very nice. The best thing by far at this location is the staff. Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE we encountered among the staff were friendly, helpful and seemed genuinely happy to be of service to the guests. This says a lot to me about the management of this Inn and the teamwork of the crew. Bravo!

The hotel was very quiet, the room large and the beds very comfy. Breakfast was very complete and offered many options, served up to 10am. Staff was courteous, nice. Location is only about 5 miles from downtown Santa Cruz and the Boardwalk, easy to find with GPS. So much better than the noisy hotels in Santa Cruz. There are at least 2 nice restaurants at walking distance.

Blake at the front desk was extremely helpful in the events around the area and making us feel at home for the night. Kent, the General Manager was very polite and professional. I have traveledd many times over many years and this is the first time I felt at home away from home. Thank you all and we will be back.

Overall experience was great! Stayed in the suite because we were in town with our daughter and two of her friends. Loved the two separate rooms and bathrooms. Close to shopping and eating. Quick drive to the Boardwalk as well. Will definitely stay here again.

Getting a reasonably priced place to stay in Capitola can be a challenge, unless you want a total dump. This Best Western Plus is a find. The accommodations are very nice, the room is one of the largest I've been to recently, it's well stocked with supplies (and hooray! Bottles of shampoo and bars of soap instead of the liquid pumps!). The room itself is comfortable, the refrigerator works well, and it's safe and secure. We occasionally make the weekend getaway to the central coast and this Best Western Plus will be our go to place. A couple of downsides, our room was a bit noisy from whatever lives on the opposite side of the fence boundary, plus some hallway noise. The breakfast isn't very good, but no worse than any of the free/included breakfasts. Actually our room is near the breakfast room and early in the morning I heard a beeping noise that I thought may have been an alarm of some sort. Turns out it was the waffle-maker in the breakfast room that beeps when the waffle is ready. Other than that, this is a fine place to stay that isn't too far from the beach.

I guess it becomes another cruel reality not to only see fancy pictures of hotels but also carefully check surroundings of it. Did not realized making 8 months in advance reservation, that this hotel surrounded by facilities far- far away from hospitality business and facing to back of the alley of busy businesses with daily early mornings and throughout whole day loading activities. Imagine waking up DAILY as early as 5AM with heavy trucks pulling back to loading docks and operating loud machinery equipment. Hotel's personals were specifically asked for ONE and only request, to provide quiet room for one week while on family vacation. As a mockery to that request was given room with both windows facing loading docks. See all pictures provided for your convenience and skip this ‘hotel” for much better options available. Despite the fancy pictures on their website the slipping sofa seen better days and most likely won't be even accepted as a donation in a local Goodwill how old, ugly and heavily used it appeared. It goes without saying that we NEVER will be back to this hotel and if all Best Westerns hotels have this kind of appeals we better change our preferences. Nearby is a Marriott Hotel. I wish I have seen it before. Do yourself a favor find a better deal where families on vocations and other travelers are welcomed and cared for. NOT in here.

Many come for the sites and scenery and relaxing vacation, we had a family emergency and our son was Hospitalized unexpectedly after a severe Mt. Bike accident with a head injury. On a Sunday night in June not much was available close to the Hospital, we called and the Front Desk Staff member Alicia helped us graciously, sensitive to our needs and she was very kind and most helpful, we were treated like royalty. We had a very clean and Quiet Suite on the 3rd floor. This is a very family friendly Hotel. We Sincerely Thank Alicia and the staff for showing such kindness with our Emergency. When we have a chance we will book a room for Leisure soon. Don't miss out on this Great little gem!!

Visited this hotel for 2 night as part of a trip along the coast. Rooms are a large size and very comfy. All very clean too. The best is large and so soft. Breakfast included and very tasty, there is enough choice to set you up for the day! Very close to Capitols town which is very cute and a short drive to Santa Cruz. Walked along to Pleasure point too and explored some of the small shops around there. Staff all very friendly and even cookies on reception!

Hotel is nice and clean. Breakfast a bit below average. Walls are paper thin. You will go to sleep after your neighbors and wake up when they do. You will know when people talk in the hallway. To add to the thin walls it has laminate floors so you can here a pin drop in the room above you.

The Hotel made me extremely satisfied with my 5 day stay. I got to keep my same room which was just remodeled and very quiet. There was even more remodeling going on the same floor but did not interfere with my stay there. Beds were comfortable and the hotel in general has great up keeping.

We only stayed one night on our way to Big Sur. The reception at the desk was welcoming. The room we stayed in was very clean. The A/C heating system was difficult to adjust. The room got very hot during the night and in the morning water had leaked onto shoes and socks left near the unit. The breakfast was OK. There is shopping nearby (Target) which opens before 10AM where we went to buy some new socks to replace the wet ones. It is in a very convenient location. The restaurant recommendation was excellent.

We were very fortunate to get upgraded to a semi-suite and the room was great as I was meeting an old Navy buddy whom I hadn't seen since 1964. He & his wife were able to come up to our room which they loved & we could sit & talk about old navy war stories at leisure. Your staff was very helpful & gave directions to a few spots we wanted to see. B/W Capitola-By-The-Sea is near everything around Santa Cruz. Breakfast was great & once again the people who run this inn are top notch which made for a very comfortable stay.

We have stayed here many time. This stay was on a Saturday on Mother's Day weekend, so the price was higher than other times we've stayed. It was totally worth it to be so near Capitola Beach, Sea Cliff Beach, Gayle's Bakery, and the Santa Cruz Wharf. The pool and hot tub were immaculate; the room and bathroom were large and extremely clean.

We just stayed 4 nights at this Best Western. First the staff are so nice and pleasant. The accommodations were fantastic, we stayed in a junior suite, so comfortable and so nice to have two separate areas to relax, hubby is an early riser, so it was important to have a door between the bedroom and living room. The only issue we had was the bed was somewhat hard for our taste. We used the pool and spa, incredibly clean an well maintained. Wish it opened earlier than 10:00, as hubby likes to do the spa early while I sleep in. We survived. Lol The complementary continental breakfast was well displayed, easy to use and everything was fresh. Thank you BW for a great getaway, we will be back. ????

Lobby and hallways are decorated with historical posters from local events. Love the location, restaurants, shopping, movie theater all within short walking distance. Has key card access from well lit private parking lot. Our favorite place to stay when we visit Santa Cruz and Monterey area!

We arrived on Saturday and were greeted by an amazing hotel guy. Gave us warm chocolate chip cookies and told us everything about Capitola. This hotel was quiet, clean and very close to everything. The service is the best in Capitola. Try this hotel with kids and family. Great pool and food. We will be back soon.

My husband and I wanted a Capitola getaway, so I called this Best Western to check availability. The individual to whom I spoke was most helpful -- he quoted a price considerably lower than the oneline rate, so I grabbed it. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, highlighted by a big, comfy bed, a large suite with small sitting area, fireplace, and TV, a clean pool and hot tub, and a good continental breakfast. We would definitely stay here again.

Located near the beach, Capitola village, the mall, and movie theaters, this is a great hotel to stay at. The rooms are very comfortable and clean. Most importantly, the service is amazing. Steve and Blake at the front desk are always helpful, courteous, and friendly. My family has been staying at this hotel for years, and they always appreciate its great value. Highly recommended!

We checked into the hotel and were given information of what to see in the area. How to get to the wharf area. Our visit to Capitola was memorable. Met some lovely people, tried some great restaurants and walked a lot. Went to the surf area, after getting correct directions, it offered a great view of the surfers and the waves. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The beds were comfortable. Thumbs up!

We like BW plus, this hotel is plus-plus. Smart, modern, suites are huge, nice heated pool and jacuzzi. Breakfast very good, coffee is great. No scrambled eggs and bacon, but we survived. Great service from staff, we had a great stay here.

I have enjoyed staying here many times, as my daughter lives with her family nearby and I am a frequent visitor. I have checked in/out at every concievable time and duration of stays have varied, and am always impressed with the attentive service, comfortable layout, clean rooms and relative affordability. Pool, Jacuzzi, cookies and breakfast are nice options.

This is a great place to stay--easy to find, close to the beaches and town center. The room we stayed in was delightful--fireplace and sofa in one area--comfortable bed in its own area. Toiletries were very good and plentiful. We arrived after midnight and the staff was attentive and friendly--even getting us bottled water. It was quiet and allowed for two great night's sleep. They pay attention to water conservation and recyling and make it easy to do the same. Breakfasts are provided--great choice of coffees as well as fruit, cereals, juice, waffles, and biscuit sandwiches. The saltwater pool was large enough to do laps in, and the hot tub is actually hot! The best part of our experience was with the staff. Not merely polite and attentive, but they provide a level of personal attention that seems to have been lost in most hotels. The general manager was friendly and most gracious--allowing us to access the hot tub before posted opening hours and making sure we had towels. We have never stayed here before, and now we will never stay anywhere else when we are in the area.

We loved the location and the hotel, but it is the staff that makes it stand out the most. Caring and genuine staff!! We added a second night and we were not disappointed! Nice selection at breakfast too.

Excellent hotel. Pricing varies a lot depending upon the time of year, etc. We stayed there quite inexpensively this time near Thanksgiving. We have stayed there many times over the last several years, and have found the staff friendly, and the rooms an excellent value.

I really like this hotel. Ive stayed here on several trips for multiple nights and i am always pleased. This hotel is mid-priced and offers an excellent value. Its in Capitola about 10 minute drive from downtown Santa Cruz and the beach. There are no shortage of motels/hotels in the Santa Cruz. As a tip i would avoid the hotels on Ocean st. The area seems sketchy to me. This hotel is within walking distance of alot of shopping - next to a mid sized mall (Capitola) and across the street from a Whole Foods and CVS. I find this convenient but some people wont care. The hotel is clean and quiet. Well decorated and well maintained. Pool area and hot tub are small but very nice with a lovely patio area. Free lobby breakfast is good. Fresh fruit and cereal. Coffee is very good. There are waffles and pastries and yogurts... Its a nice selection. Rooms are clean and comfy. Staff is universally helpful and friendly. I have no complaints about this hotel.

We truly enjoy coming out to Capitola. We stay at the Best Western and it's always nice. Close to shopping, dining, a movie theater, the beach and a short trip to Santa Cruz and the BoardWalk. Over all a marvelous place to be.

Good bang for your buck. Everything in Capitola is expensive. It's nice to get close to what you pay for. Clean rooms, super nice hotel staff, free parking and a good free breakfast. which may not be a glowing statement, but trust me, most free breakfast's are not.

This is a nice place to stay, although a good little walk into town; we found this place perfect on a recent stay. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was OK, but we went down the street to the many coffee shops for breakfast.

While traveling home for the holidays my furry friend (Geo the dog) was lost. Unbeknownst to us Geo made his way into the front lobby in the early morning hours. To our surprise we realized later that morning our 11 month old dog was missing. Franticly we searched the streets of Capitola for several hours. I noticed a staff member putting up lost dog signs. These gracious people went above and beyond to help us reunite with our pup. Although the hotel isn't pet friendly inside its room policy, they were more than friendly enough to help a pet in need. Thank you so much for the help and saving xmas!!

The hotel is in a very nice and quiet location. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and comfortable with with a great layout. We asked the hotel staff about a restaurant near by and he said we wouldn't be disappointed. He was right! We would definitely stay there again.

Out of city center and activities. Nice place to stop for night. The beds were very small, but the hot tub was a treat. Breakfast was average. The lady at the front was supper nice. Too bqd I cannot remember her name.

Blake at the front desk was very helpful and it was so nice receiving excellent customer service from him! The whole hotel was very clean, including the pool and hot tub. Breakfast was great with lots of options such as hot waffles, jimmy dean breakfast sandwiches, Seattle's Best Coffee(our favorite), oatmeal and more. We will definitely stay here again. Location is great with lots of excellent restaurants, a mall and just a few blocks away is the ocean.

We enjoyed our stay. The location was convenient for visiting surrounding area sights. The room was quiet and comfortable. We would choose this hotel again. Traveling in December, hotel was not full, breakfast room may be crowded when more guests are staying.

Wasn't sure what would be available in Capitola, on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday of Thanksgiving week-end with no reservations. Stumbled upon this Best Western, was immediately offered discounts. Modern, upscale property, walking close to beautiful coastline, Capitola Mall for shopping, and Santa Cruz a short hop up the coast. We'll definitely be back.

On our return trip home from visiting family for the Thanksgiving holiday, we decided to stop Saturday night and not rush the drive home. We had originally called a BW in Monterey, looking specifically for a hot tub in-room. There were none available in Monterey, and Capitola-By-the-Sea was the next closest available. I am so glad the booking agent we spoke with recommended this BW! When we arrived, we were given the walk-in rate on the room, which was actually cheaper than the online deal we had initially looked into, which was great! The front desk agent was attentive and very helpful. The whirlpool tub was just what we needed after a long weekend. Located close to shopping, food, and entertainment! We will definitely be back to take advantage of the Shadowbrook taxi dinner service!

We needed a place to stay for 3 days during our house termite fumigation. This place is a hidden gem on 41st ave Capitola. The beauty is on the inside! Exceptionally clean, well-lit, colorful, nice interior layout, pool, hot tub, spacious parking, hot coffee and fresh-baked chocolate-chip cookies!!!, and VERY friendly and helpful staff.

The hotel was very clean and the decor was very elegant. My bed was very comfortable and the bathrooms were really clean. The front desk person, Blake was very professional and cordial. This hotel is so convenient and close to all the shops by Capitola Beach. We rode our bikes to Santa Cruz which was a 3 mile wonderful experience.

Give this hotel a try and you will return often as we have. All of the people are friendly, helpful, and willing to go out of the way to make sure you enjoy your stay. We use this hotel to take the grandkids to the Boardwalk and then the pool here. We also, get a suite with the fireplace for just the two of us. We were going elsewhere until they were full and so we tried this location. No desire to go elsewhere now.

The king-bed room with sitting area (couch and comfortable chair) was clean and very quiet and reasonably priced. The free breakfast had the usual choices and I enjoyed the granola and yogurt and coffee. All the staff-front desk, breakfast room, and housekeeping were very polite and courteous. Being a light sleeper I heard a little traffic noise, but not bad at all, slept well.

An especially beautiful and friendly Best Western. Everything was as good as it gets. We hadn't made a reservation prior to the day we checked in so felt fortunate to have found this convenient hotel.

We were late finding a hotel in the area do we came to this one! The rooms were ok but outdated! It probably needs a remodel soon! Certainly didn't think it was to the plus level! I am not sure if I would stay there again without a little update !

Love the location. down the street to Capitola village and 5 minute drive through town or 3 exits on highway to downtown Santa Cruz....close to nice restaurants, breweries, music and the ocean. hotel staff and employees are very friendly and keep the hotel very clean.

Great hotel! We needed to be out of our house for a few days, and found this hotel locally. Great people working there - friendly, professional, and good service. Property and room was very clean and decorated and landscaped nicely. Rooms are all in the back of the property, so much less traffic noise, rooms are spacious enough and have a small fridge & micro, free breakfast is much better than regular continental style (e.g. Egg / sausage biscuits, hard boiled eggs, etc.) in addition to regular stuff. Location is outstanding - close to the beach, to restaurants, to shopping, to the freeway, etc. Would recommend the hotel highly.

We needed to be out of our home for a few days, and luckily found the Best Western Capitola for our stay. The staff is welcoming and professional, room was clean and very comfortable, location is perfect in terms of being close to everything in Capitola - including the beach, the breakfast well exceeded the usual "continental breakfast" at most hotels, and overall value was very good. Highly recommend.

We love this property and will come back anytime we need a hotel in the Santa Cruz area. We have stayed here many times in the past and are always welcomed back especially by Blake and Steve who go out of their way to make us feel at home. Booked this last minute for a weekend stay in Capitola. Great location to beach and shops. Room was clean and quiet. Enjoyed the hot tub which was sparkling clean. Check out wasn't until 12:00. Would recommend.

We have visited the best Western Capatola many times and we love the location but more importantly the staff is exemplary and one main one reason why we keep going back. Blake in particular is one of the kindest people we've dealt with and his thoughtfulness is unparalleled. He is such a pleasure to interact with. Furthermore, the room is always spotless and it's just an overall wonderful hotel!! We highly recommend this hotel.

I checked in late and the night manager Steve gave me a good discount on my mini-suite. I enjoyed a long, hot shower and slept comfortably. Used the coffeemaker and had a fresh cookie from the front desk. My room had a sitting area, large TV, microwave, fridge, bar, and full bathroom. I will return next year during my annual visit with my family at the Shadowbrook.

Nice location in Capitola. Nice hotel in general. Staff was nice , rooms were clean and Beds were comfy. Pool and hot tub were good! I had a great full week stay for work. Hotel is right across from New Leaf Market and While Foods is close too! Restaurants close by. What more can you ask for?

Service and rooms are exceptional. Breakfast was good and freshly prepaird. Rooms were clean and well equipt. We stayed 2 nights and would have wished for more. Very comfortable beds and spacious rooms. Staff is suoer friendly and we always felt welcomed. A very good home away from home.

I spent 3 nights at this Best Western Hotel and I couldn't have been more pleased. Even before my arrival I was impressed with the hospitality from Blake at the front desk. During my entire stay all of the front desk staff and hotel staff were friendly and made me feel so comfortable. I'm a very picky traveler and to be honest BW is not normally my first choice but this property has opened my eyes. Room was clean, complimentary breakfast options were just right, parking was convenient. And above all as a female traveling alone I felt safe and secure my entire stay... the homemade chocolate chip cookies at the front desk every evening was a nice touch too! I plan to be back and bring my family for a summer vacation....Thank you BW Capitola By-the- Sea!!!

We had 5 nights to spend in the Capitola area and opted for this Best Western hotel. It did not disappoint, except for the breakfast. Room was quiet, even though our room was right across from the pool. My main complaint was the continental breakfast - probably the worst continental breakfast I've ever had in a hotel. Don't advertise a hot breakfast when all you serve are pre-cooked/pre-packaged breakfast sandwiches (Jimmy Dean?). They were horrid in my opinion but my husband seemed to like them. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The location was perfect for sightseeing in the Capitola/Santa Cruz area. Despite the breakfast I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

My husband and I stayed at the Best Western Capitola By the Sea. We had a wonderful experience with the hotel and it's employees. The cleanliness was amazing, I am very picky too. These words don't come easy for me, but when you have a place that TOTALLY goes above and beyond, they need to be recognized. Great job!

The management was rude and my room was at the back side facing a logistics warehouse that loaded there semis at 4 AM every day. Housekeeping staff were polite and the room was very clean although the upholstery was worn and torn.

Very nice hotel very nice staff helpful, breakfast was decent not the best we've had, rooms are nice with a fireplace. They let us park our Harley in plain view of the front desk. Would stay here again.

Flew out with my daughter, a returning USCS student. My usual place in Santa cruz was booked for part of the time of my stay so I chose this one, even though it was a little bit further from campus and cost a little more. What a great choice! This place is super nice, clean and quiet and well worth the the extra drive and price: good free breakfast, great little heated pool and hot tub, wonderful staff and private, secure parking. Easy walk to beach and restaurants and beach, as wall as shopping mall (where I spent a lot of time and money on kid's dorm setup).

This was a good place to stay. I would have liked to be closer to the water, but in terms of value and cleanliness this was excellent. We only stayed one night and everything that we needed was here. The rooms were a great size. No complaints.

This is my second stay here. On my first stay, the room was very clean and bright. This time. the room was a bit dingy and the carpet was in need of cleaning. complimentary breakfast is great. Love the waffles.

This didn't end up being close enough to the downtown dining area so that we could walk, so we drive; but honestly I don't think it mattered. We had a great time relaxing by the pool. There was a supermarket and IHOP nearby that we could use and the drive downtown was only a few minutes (expensive parking, beware!!) The Best Western staff were super friendly, made us feel at home and we enjoyed the pool and hot tub to ourselves for a couple of hours. Slept great, and came home happy!

Location: convenient to Route 1 exit. Staff - housekeeper made an extra effort to make linens look real first class. desk staff - helpful and friendly Food - complimentary breakfast - comparable to Hampton Inn Complaint - room 314 - very noisy (old) HVAC system and refrigerator - very difficult to sleep. If I eliminate the noise complaint I would give BW Plus Cap a 4.5pts.

This BW Plus hotel interior and exterior appearance was a step above the competition. The hotel is due for a refresh and the HVAC and refrigerator need to be maintained better. Other than that we had a very pleasant experience and the location is ideal in Capitola.

We, three adults, stayed in a two room suite with one king bed and two queens in the second room. The hotel room was huge and we had plenty of space for suite cases and bags. The master room with the bathroom had a TV and two comfortable seats. The second room had little kitchenette with a fridge, microwave, coffee maker and a separate sink. There was a second TV and chairs as well. The rooms are very clean and the bathroom nice as well. The breakfast was fine with fresh fruit, beagles, eggs, ready made breakfast sandwiches and all the other delicious things you know and love at a best western hotel. The free wifi was very good throughout the hotel. We did not use the pool but it looked okay. I can definitely recommend this hotel.

We have travelled from UK to California numerous times and have stayed at this hotel on quite a few occasions. We returned to stay after a break of a few years but were so pleased that the hotel is just a great as ever! The standard of service from the staff is above expectations and the cleaning staff keep everywhere immaculate. I have to make a special mention of how the gardeners have over the years kept the grounds neat, tidy and full of healthy interesting plants. It's a pleasure to sit outside and relax with a book or lunch and take in the wonderful surroundings. A massive thank you to them. Please let them know how their work is appreciated. I would recommend The Best Western Capitola without hesitation to all.

Just an overnight stay on our way up the coast to Napa and Sonoma. We wanted a place "less busy" than Santa Cruz. Reasonably priced for California. Excellent breakfast served. Very courteous and friendly staff. Good sized room.

While researching places to stay in Capitola I realized how costly is could be for 3 adults. We were flying out for a wedding and were watching our funds. We were able to get a 2 room suite for the same price as a regular room next door. The rooms are a bit dated decoration wise but oh well it was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was plentiful and set up nicely. The staff was friendly and attentive. We will stay here again.

My husband and I were very impressed with the Best Western Plus Capitola By-the-Sea Inn & Suites. It was very clean. All the hotel employees that we encountered during our stay were cheerful and friendly!

A group of friends wanted to spend a night, here in town, away from our daily routines, to bond and have fun. We chose this property and were extremely satisfied that we did. We enjoyed the pool, the room, the staff, and other guests we met along the way. And...due to microwaves and refrigerators in the rooms, we were able to enjoy a wonderful dinner we all brought, as well as a perfect evening together. Thanks you BW!

This hotel is quite nice and has various lobby spot sto sit with friends indoors and out. Pool is utilitarian, but very clean as is the hot tub. However, the rooms do not have individual controls in as much as they are motion related I was told when it kept shutting off all night and we roasted. Too bad because Capitola is my favorite beach town. Has a nice breakfast if you stay it goes from 6 to 10 daily which is nice.

Very nice stay, friendly staff, clean, and a lot to choose from at the breakfast lounge, would definitely come back.. Hotel is close to the beach and downtown where we enjoyed the arts and wine festival.

It's a really nice hotel. Has a beautiful lobby. Everyone was so nice to me it was incredible had a totally great stay nice room comfortable bed and pillows just wonderful stay. Will go back next year for sure !!

The hotel is beautiful and very clean and the staff is amazing. The staff made sure our stay was very enjoyable. The fresh baked chocolate chip cookies are to die for and the complimentary breakfast are the best! I would recommend the hotel to anyone. I stay here every time that I am in the area.

Best Western Hotel located in Capitola by the Sea is a great place to stay. Located on 41st Street, the hotel is close to all the attractions in Capitola & a short drive from Santa Cruz. The hotel is very clean, the pool & exercise area are always clean & available during reasonable hours. The staff was friendly & helpful when conducting business. Highly recommended.

There is not one unsatisfactory comment I could say about this place! Close to everything, very clean, great breakfast, wonderful staff, air conditioning in every room, super comfy beds, pool and fitness room, cookies and complementary coffee upon arrival! Located on 41st which is the heart of Capitola. If you are lucky enough to get Steve at the front desk you are going to have a great day, he is a jem! Seriously a wonderful place!

My family decided to do a last minute trip to the beach. I must say this place is very clean with great service! Breakfast was ok, would have liked scrambled eggs with a choice of meat versus Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches. Pool was nice and clean as well.

I only stay at the Best Western Plus Capitola By-the-Sea Inn & Suites! This is a consistently clean establishment with nice rooms and a great continental breakfast, which saves money on a trip. The staff says "welcome home" when you arrive after staying there more than once. The evening chocolate chip cookies are appreciated!

This was my first Best Western experience in a while and it was very positive. The room was comfortable and clean and the staff was courteous, efficient and helpful. The location is quite central and although it is on a somewhat main artery it was quiet.

I stay at this Best Western Plus whenever I'm in the area (usually for business), even if my work is down in Carmel/Monterey. The rooms are always spotlessly clean, the beds are firm and comfortable, the staff is professional, but warm and friendly, so that it just feels like coming home. The prices are reasonable, it's close to restaurants and some of the shopping, and is only a drive of a couple of minutes to get to the village of Capitola for the beach and more restaurants and shopping. It's also a very short and easy drive into Santa Cruz. Free wifi, continental breakfasts is you so choose, a gym, laundry, and a staff that welcomes you home. What more can you ask? I love it here.

Arrived earlier than the normal check in time and fortunately we were given a very nice room right away. The front desk clerk was extremely helpful and courteous. The hotel is immaculate and the staff prides itself on "friendly" which it far exceeded.

I don't see the plus in this Best Western. The shower was a joke. Stuc together with duke tape. Looks more like a sprinkler installation for the grass outside. Stains in a new pillow. Room was dirty and not clean at all. When we mention this to the reception, the only we heard was; sorry to hear have a good day. The guy was more focused on his phonecall than on us. Don't go there, plenty of good alternatives.

We had a very comfortable suite with a sitting room on the first floor. It was perfect because we brought our bicycles and there was room to keep them inside! When I booked the room, I had the impression that it was closer to the ocean, but it was an easy walk to the sea and also to several restaurants/brewpubs/stores etc. It was wonderful to be able to get breakfast on-site every morning - there were plenty of options if you want to eat healthy. And, we were very pleasantly surprised at how good the coffee was! Usually, hotel coffee tastes weak and terrible and we end up at Starbucks, but it was great and so readily accessible!

Meticulous Attention to Detail. Everything about this place says the owners care a lot about what they do. Interior, Exterior, Furnishings, all in immaculate condition. The decor is tasteful, understated, and continues to surprise me with how everything seems to have been so well thought through. It's half the price of Silicon Valley Hotels, in a beautiful community by the ocean. It's a 45 minute drive, quite curvy, but so worth it.

This hotel is like a high priced resort. Clean, comfortable and top notch service. Professional. The cookies upon check in was a nice surprise. Pool area clean and water was clear. Beds were comfortable and room was spotless. High end shampoos too.

To celebrate our wedding anniversary I wanted to do an overnight near the beach. Due to lack of advance planning on my part, my search led to sold out hotels and over priced motels. Just when I was about to give up, I thought to try Travelocity one more time. BW came up on top at a rate of over $300, which was over our budget, but I was feeling hopeful so I phoned the hotel directly. Lo and behold I was able to get a room at $205. (Thanks to an emergency by a previous guest) I was stoked but even more so when we arrived. Our room was a king size bed with a living room AND a fireplace. It's close to lucky, Whole Foods, cinelux and one mile from Capitola Beach/Village. Bed was so comfy, loved the shower head. TV is basic cable, no HBO or showtime. Free continental breakfast which was better quality than the free CB at other hotels. Hotel staff are friendly and courteous. They even have chocolate chip cookies at the front desk. This is the BEST Best Western ever!

Very enjoyable stay. I was fortunate to interact with two exceptional managers, Blake and Kent (sorry, I do not remember their surnames), who went out of their way to assist me with a problem that I had with my car. Briefly, the car (loaned to me by Bay Area friends of my adult daughter) refused to start and I was not certain what the issue was -- battery and/or alternator and/or faulty connections or what. I had a wedding rehearsal dinner to go to in Santa Cruz in the evening, as well as the wedding itself the next day. Blake was immediately sympathetic & responsive; he called Kent, who is a whiz with cars (he has been tinkering with them all his life and used to race hot rods). Kent instantly diagnosed the problem (dead battery), directed me to a nearby automotive parts store -- within walking distance -- where I purchased a new battery and brought it back to the hotel. Kent retrieved his tool kit and, in less than 10 minutes, had removed the defective battery and replaced it with the new one! This act of kindness and responsiveness was above and beyond the call of duty, to say the least, and saved the day (and weekend) for me! Otherwise, it would have likely taken me hours to get "roadside assistance" from Geico or AAA (think late Saturday afternoon in July in Capitola/Santa Cruz, CA) and cost me much more for the battery and its installation. I would have been very stressed and anxious about solving the problem, getting to the family dinner on time, and possibly having to make arrangements for transport to the wedding location -- in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Instead, I was relaxed and very grateful to Blake and Kent for the offered support that solved all my concerns in such a brief period of time! We even joked about it. These two gentlemen were both generous and gallant in their assistance of a hotel guest in distress. I cannot thank them enough!

With my family we staying there for one night. The room was good and clean as well as the bathroom. Reception is open 24 hours. Breakfast starts at 6am, the buffet style breakfast offers a fairly good choice of foods. Would recommend this hotel for a short stay as due to its location is a little pricey.

What a great place to stay. The staff was very friendly and service oriented. The room was incredibly clean. You could tell that the cleaning staff is very organized and dedicated to their work. I always test the window area as a good marker of cleanliness in a hotel - our room was spotless. The pool area was clean - even my kids remarked upon it. Congrats BW - you have the formula down! Loved the Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches too. We highly recommend this place.

Staff was very friendly and helpful, facilities were very clean inside and out. Shower was excellent but could not be adjusted to aim closer to the front of the tub . Unfortunately one of the days the housekeeper did not change the sheets or provide new ice bucket liners. Otherwise, a great place to stay.

It's hard to rate a hotel when everything goes right. Still, the staff here was remarkably friendly. Quiet rooms despite being in an town setting. LOVE the cool ocean breezes. Their free breakfast was wonderful. Close to beaches and shopping. Quiet, clean, and modern room. Glad to have a microwave and a fridge. Glad to have a safety rail and a real rubber mat in the bathroom.

Very nice hotel convenient to area highlights with personable efficient staff. Free parking was literally just steps from most rooms. Lots of fresh fruit at breakfast with staff keeping cleanliness and refills of items current.

This is the first time fresh scrambled eggs and sausage was not served at a Best Western. They served pre-made breakfast sandwiches instead. (weird). The good thing is there is an I-Hop next store. The room was great and the staff were friendly and extremely helpful.

We were travelling with two 14 year olds. We requested rooms next to each other and they obliged. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub. Breakfast was fine. Not fancy, but a fine place to stay for the area and for the money (everything near Santa Cruz is incredibly expensive during the summer).

Great experience ! Rooms were very clean . The breakfast has a great variety. The beds are comfortable . Stayed for wharf to wharf and the staff was encouraging and very helpful and knowledgeable. Can't wait to go back

Only stayed 1 night, easy check in, cookies on the desk. Free car park. Ok breakfast. Rooms were not modern but were clean. Shopping centres next door and across the road. Not sure if it's walking distance to beach though, maybe an Uber. Would stay again for a short stay.

Front desk Steve was nice the first two years making the reservation. When he did it wrong, he wouldn't look at me or say anything or apologize when I repeated what he told me when I made the reservation. This time I made the reservation with the GM directly and was told it wasn't how he said it was. I told them I had emails to prove it and they said he's not here to verify so no sense going over that. I was advised that in their hotel adjoining means next to and connecting means two rooms with a walk thru door which I have never had this experience before. If it wasn't for Steve and had he had the ability to treat me like a customer, I would say great place. I'm a diamond rewards member and to him tbat meant nothing. The pastries in the morning were stale, nothing like previous visits. Steve upgrades customers for no additional cost and he gives whatever room rates he wants to even in front of other customers. 3 years returning and can't say I would again if Steve is still there.

We just had a great stay here with our 2 children . We loved the home made cookies that were offered to us on arrival at reception . The pool was great for children . We had a lovely breakfast and would highly reccomend this hotel when staying at Capitola by the Sea as location great and staff helpful and friendly.

Was a very pleasant stay during our stay for our son's wedding and our 46th wedding anniversary. Really enjoyed the pool. The breakfast was adequate. I have had better at other BW's. I enjoy fresh bacon egg and potato options. Room was clean and very comfortable.

Centrally located within easy walking distance to several restaurants. Hotel lobby and common areas are modern and clean. Unfortunately our tub/shower combo did have some "dark areas" on white grout - needed some bleaching for sure on grouted areas including floor. With that exception the room was clean. Parking was ample and easily accessed. Would definitely consider staying here again.

We were there for the Jack O'Neill paddle out. The beach (pleasure point) is walk-able, albeit not with a board. An easy drive to the Boardwalk area as well as teh Capitola village/beach area. Friendly, helpful staff.

Our favorite place in the Capitola/Santa Cruz area, we've been coming back for years! The GMs/owners(?) are always present or nearby, remembering old guests and checking on your stay without ever feeling pushy or invasive. Breakfast buffet is varied and generous, nice little pool and outside area, all within a 1/4 mile of the beach, easy bike ride or instant drive.

It was a new clean place, great staff, great service, nice well appointed room with coffee, tea, fridge. The bed was comfy and the breakfast was very good, lots of choices. Suite was perfect for us. We would definitely stay there again in the future.

Great working staff,very friendly and helpful.We arrived early for check-in and the rooms were not ready and they offered to call us when its ready, and they did! we decided to check the beach and we got the call that we can check-in early. They have good breakfast choices,especially for the kids. The pool though small was heated and there's outside jacuzzi too. We got the first floor (rm 102) and it was a bit noisy with banging from the other room i guessed and people from the top floor were doing their walking back and forth,so next time we will get rooms at the 2nd floor.There was also the smell of food being cooked/microwaved at 2:30 in the morning,and the smell came into our room,so i have to put a towel on the bottom of our door. The bed and pillows were comfortable (Best Western hotels have good beds and pillows)which i liked and there's TV, a small fridge ( though we couldn't make it colder for our food),coffee maker and microwave. Spacious bathroom and clean room. Will stay here again if we're in the neighborhood.

We enjoyed our stay very much. Helpful personnel advised us on what to see around the area. The rooms were very clean and the price very reasonable. We stayed there two nights and we would have stayed more had time permitted.

We enjoyed 2 nights in June. Rooms were clean and included a small fridge. There is a nice outdoor pool with hot tub. The staff is friendly. Check-in include homemade cookies. There is a good complimentary breakfast and free parking. Would definitely recommend it.

This is definitely a great choice for hotel in the Capitola/Santa Cruz area. The location is conveniently located close to Capitola Village, grocery stores, coffee, restaurants. Would highly recommend. Clean. comfortable hotel with easy parking and in a beach town...... that counts for a lot!

We were in Santa Cruz for a wedding. The Best Western Capitola was very convenient for getting to and from the freeway, Hwy 1 for the Roaring Camp Railroad, the reception destination-The Crepe Place and Capitola Village. We have stayed here before and found it to nicer than before. We love Capitola Beach and Gayle's Bakery. We will always return to Best Western. Clean, Quiet and a pretty good value for the locale.

Stayed at the Best Western Plus Capitola By-the-Sea Inn & Suites last month as a place close to my wedding venue (Shadowbrook Restaurant) on the night before my wedding. The hotel was easy to locate and directly behind a shopping center with a grocery store, movie theater and all sorts of other shops. There's also a big mall down the street. :-) I wish I could remember the name of the gentleman who checked us in (Steve??) but he was very nice and made us feel very welcome. I also recognized his voice from one of the times I had to call to change one of the many rooms for my family (who were also staying there) and I remember him being very helpful. The front desk always has yummy chocolate chip cookies waiting for you when you check in, which was a nice touch. Parking is limited in the lot behind the building and you need to get a parking permit to park there. The room was decent and the wifi worked great, which is always a plus. On our second day I was a little concerned about parking for the people coming to do our hair and make up and when I asked at the front desk, there was a new gentleman working on Sunday and he was a little grumpy and not as easy to work with. Maybe he was just having a bad day. That said, breakfast there was good and I loved making my own giant waffle with whipped cream. It was a treat, especially considering it was complimentary. Overall it was a nice stay and we'd come back.

While my daughter has been a student at UCSC, I have stayed at several hotels in the area. I wish I had found this place 4 years ago. It is very lovely, clean, newer looking, and quiet. It is a short 10 minute drive to campus. Highly recommend.

I always enjoy stayin at the Best Western Plus in capitola,the staff is great especially Blake and Steve. I feel like it's a home away from home. It's clean and comfy also great breakfast. Trust me you will not be disappointed. Great place to stay if you are in Capitola

Typical BW basic room. Clean, but the bed was hard and sheets rough. Lumpy pillows too. Thin walls so we could hear more than should be heard in a hotel at all hours. Sub-par breakfast. I stay often in a lot of hotels 3-5 star, and this one is not a good value for the money. If you are looking for a comfortable sleep, pass this one over.

Great affordable place to stay in the area. Couldn't ask for nicer staff. Lovely decor. Really comfortable beds. .Close to a lot of shopping and tourist activity in the Capitola area, as well as Aptos and Santa Cruz. Room are spotless and nicely laid out .

My young kids and I love to come to Capitola to enjoy the beach. Then we do a little shopping if we need to at the mall up the street, get take out, and enjoy our BW room with music or a movie. The staff here are very kind and supportive. In the morning, a great breakfast buffet of options for us --one kid loves to pour the chocolate waffle batter and the other enjoys the hard-boiled eggs heated with a little butter. I like both! Then we swim at the pool and hot tub til it's time to check out. Pick up amazing vegetarian dish for dinner at home. Just the perfect mini-vacation nearby!

This is the second time our family of four has stayed at this location. We love the proximity to Capitola Beach and the Santa Cruz Boardwalk. With two children under five, I insist on a suite whenever we travel. I appreciated the separate bedroom, comfortable bed, and black-out curtains for naps and bed time. The onsite parking was convenient and the wi-fi worked great.

The place could use makeover on the interior to make it look more modern to today's date beds are not very comfortable pillows are not very soft internet is very good location is fair overall stay was okay but price should be about $30 to $40 less

This hotel is clean and comfortable. Rooms are spacious. Breakfast (waffles, toast, cereal) well stocked and clean. Pool and hot tub clean and warm. Plenty of places to eat within walking distance. Note - this hotel is not on the beach. It is a short drive or long walk but the service and cleanliness make the distance well worth it.

The hotel has done some upgrading of the building both inside and out and it adds to the homey feeling you get upon arrival. The little things they do like the afternoon cookies or the housekeeping staff who stop what they are doing to ask you how you are or is there anything they can do for you. Stay at this place and when in the area you will never want to stay anywhere else

This was a one night stop for us. But we're pleasantly surprised when we arrived. Ver neat and clean hotel with a great atmosphere. The room was large and well maintained. The bed was very comfortable. I would recommend this to anyone looking to stay in the area.

First time in Capitola. Love the surroundings. It's only a 10-5 min drive to Santa Cruz Boardwalk and beach. Love the fact that the hotel was surrounded by convenient shopping centers for clothing and food if needed. Breakfast was good. Our room was very spacious for our kids since we got the two bedroom suite. Rooms were quiet besides the footsteps coming from the room above. Wished there was a lock for the bathroom door. Otherwise I would definitely book here again if I'm out in the area.

This was our first visit here, but we'll definitely use this BW again the next time we're nearby. We have two kids, 8 and 10, and normally when staying at a hotel, we end up with the kiddos sharing a full bed. This BW has a suite, two large rooms complete with two bathrooms, for the price we've been paying for a single room. The kids got their own room with two beds, and my husband and I had our own room. The room was clean and the bathrooms were large. I had a great night sleep, virtually no noise from neighboring rooms or road traffic, which is such a pleasant surprise at a busy hotel. The breakfast was perfect for starting our day - the usual continental fare as well as hot breakfast sandwiches and a waffle maker. Everything was clean, and all the staff we met were quite friendly and helpful. We'll definitely be back. My only suggestion would be to provide a few soft pillows, even tucked away in the closet. The pillows were very large and very firm, which is awesome, but for those who like soft or more flat pillows, they were really huge.

We stayed only one night and like other travelers we were greeted warmly. The king suite with a fireplace was all ready for our arrival (fireplace on). The room had plenty of space, was competitively priced and had plenty of off-street parking. The bed was especially good. We were visiting relatives in town and found this hotel fit our purpose. The breakfast was just ok. I think more creativity could be used in good food selection.

Every time I come home to Santa Cruz, I stay at BW Capitola due to the consistent amazing service and beautiful facilities! They treat you with kindness and always have the best customer service! The lobby has complimentary fresh cookies in the evening when you check in, free local paper in the morning, and always have an array of choices for a complimentary breakfast in the morning! Best place to stay in SC!

This is a wonderful hotel to stay at when visiting the Santa Cruz Area. It is in a quiet area and very well kept and clean. We try to stay here very time we are in the area, but because there is only 1 room that meets our needs it is quite often unavailable and we have yet to find a place as nice as this one in the surrounding areas. Highly recommend this lovely place.

The staff was so kind and the beds were very comfortable! The shower was incredibly clean and they offered great products. Within fair walking distance of coffee shops/a few restaurants and surfing spots

We stayed here for the second time for a quick one night stopover. Rooms are spotless, beds very comfortable, and bathrooms well stocked with plenty of towels and toiletries. Breakfast room is bright with a decent selection of fare. We've paid much more at other places for a lot less. Great value, and suited our purposes perfectly. We'll be back!
