The hotel itself is not bad at all, overall clean and comfortable room. Keep in mind that this is a loud area of SF, and there are not a lot of places nearby (walking distance) to check out and hang in.. Also a lot of homeless peeps.. so if you are a bit soft this may not be the area for you.. Pronto's pizzeria is a must stop! Great American Music Hall is a few minute walk. good place to stay if you are going there for a show!
This hotel is a Great place to stay. Close to lots of sight seeing. They have a really nice breakfast selection Will definitely stay here again. Highly recommend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I had a great stay at this hotel in San Francisco. The room was spacious, clean, and looked nice, which was a plus. The staff was super friendly and always ready to help. Breakfast had a lot of options, so that was great too. Parking was secure, which made me feel better about leaving my car there. Overall, a solid place to stay!
Pros: friendly staff Cons: limited parking, maybe 10 parking spaces. Small parking area. Hard to move around. Don't park on the street, u will get a ticket! Small breakfast area. The room only had 2 power plug outlets and 2 in bathroom. No microwave.
Shining bright spot in the Tenderloin! Lovely little mid-century Art Deco hotel, I really love the decor with the yellow accents, down to the matching accent strip in the shower. Viki at the front desk was awesome, he got me set up with early check in so I could get to my early afternoon event at GG Park, and had offered to store my bag for me if the room wasn't ready in time (it was ready in time). Lovely staff and attention to detail that really makes this hotel stand out. It is in Tenderloin, so don't recommend roaming the nearby streets at night, but it's convenient to bus and BART lines and easy to get around. A++
Tenderloin is one of the worst areas for homelessness in SF... That said, when we returned to inside the hotel premises we completely forgot about the location. We were impressed by the cleanliness and spaciousness of the room, the breakfast options and the hospitality of the staff. I would recommend this for anyone looking for a good hotel at a reasonable price, rather than looking for a motel or moving further out of the heart of downtown SF.
Very clean, friendly staff. The location is nice about a 40 minute walk to anywhere you want to go. The location though around it is where most homeless live. Was never bothered by it our selfs. Free parking is amazing and definitely needed while visiting the city!
After a day of wine tasting we stayed at Best Western Red Coach Inn. The king-sized bed was comfy the room was clean and the shower had great pressure They even offer in-room coffee and have a swimming pool Breakfast was delicious too and there's a lot of restaurant around the Hotel. I Highly recommend for anyone visiting the area
Beware to make sure you get all your belongings. I accidentally left my favorite pair shoes behind and when I called to inquire about them I was told that nothing was found. The person on the phone didn't ask my name, what room I was in, nothing. I didn't even get far enough to tell them what was left and I was being told they had nothing. The only other issues I had with this place was the noise level. All night, until about 4 am, loud noises, as if I had the balcony door wide open. And last, check the towels before you use them. One had some weird yellow stains on it. However it was cheap with free parking and free breakfast, that I didn't utilize, because it was packed and there was no where to sit.
This location is very high quality. The front desk staff were welcoming, friendly, and attentive. The room was updated, clean, bright, and cozy. The bathroom was simple yet felt fancy with the lighted mirror and long counter. We had a very enjoyable night and slept comfortably. The breakfast was one of the nicest I've ever had at a Bet Western location. Food was fresh, well stocked, consistently refilled, and the selection was just right. Checkout was a breeze. I would absolutely stay here next time my partner and I take a trip to SF.
We enjoyed our short stay with friendly staff at this central location. The free parking is convenient and the breakfast is rich. We would definitely recommend this place for a vacation or business purposes.
The staff is amazing & work really hard to make their guests comfortable. That being said; if your room is near the alley you get to listen to screaming all night and smell the outside toilet. Every morning the staff has to pressure wash the poo off the driveway and sidewalk. The smell doesn't go away. It's a great hotel. It would be amazing in another location and where guests felt safe.
Sirens every 20 minutes, homeless and drugs were on all streets surrounding the hotel. Trash on all the sidewalks, as well as people, sleeping and living there. Really limited parking was afraid to walk outside of my room building. Looks like a Barricks cement hallways exposed to outside.
Aside from the location, I was charged $400.00 without notice for room damage that I did not commit. Staying here is not worth the hassle. Staff were accusatory when I requested more details regarding this surprise charge.
Typical Best Western but the area is terrible. Lots of homeless, drugged people. Walking is not recommended. Rooms are good, elevator very small and slow. Limited parking spaces. Breakfast was good but the eating area is small.
If you are traveling with kids this is not for you. Rooms are nice and clean but the area is horrible. You won't feel safe leaving your car outside and you can hear every argument the walls are paper
There's a lot of noise from homeless people at night, hard to sleep and unsafe to walk at night. I usually get a water bottle and snacks when I book into a hotel but not on this one, and the parking lot it's very small could only fit about 10 cars for what I can remember
Rude employee at the grind desk, the Asian guy was super rude. Has nothing to do with hospitality. You can tell he hates being there and serving people. Specially when you ask him to open the garage for you The area is ghetto a lot of homeless. We couldn't sleep because of the noise coming from the street.
Staff was nice. Breakfast was good. Service was good. Area wasn't feel safe. Lots of noise, peoples screaming on the street. Heard shot fired noice. At once arriving, felt not a safe place to stay. Rooms are updated.
Nice clean hotel with nice staff willing to help. Breakfast: not much choice but enough for the price. Limited space so at times too crowded Free Parking is definitly a plus Location: quite central but too many homeless everywhere in the neighbourhood and you do not feel safe
I've stayed in different hotels through out the city from the Ritz, Marriott, and other BWs. All good hotels at different price ranges. This hotel is priced right for the amenities and area. This hotel is perfect if you are just looking for somewhere clean to stay and don't mind the bad neighborhood. The rooms seem recently renovated and are very large compared to other hotel rooms in SF. You will not have any issues accommodating a family of 4 in their 2queen rooms. The beds and pillows are very comfortable. I tested the internet speed and got around 45MBS down and like 26MBS upload so streaming anything or even playing online with your gaming console is no problem. Staff seemed like they are being trained but they were all very nice. Unfortunately I didn't try the breakfast but was given two coupons per night. The entrances to the rooms are secured with a locked door that needs a key to open and access the rooms. The only downside to the hotel is that is located in a bad neighborhood with a lot of homeless but if you know SF then you know that's expected almost everywhere in the city. None of them bothered us though, they mind their own business. It was conveniently located to the city hall where the pride festival was held but not to anything else. Also if you get a balcony room, lock the doors, the balconies are pretty much connected to each other and someone can easily walk to your side.
Once inside the hotel it is very nice and felt secure, but be warned that there are homeless encampments all around it, and I had to wade through drug users, pee and poo to get anywhere. What a shame. Also rather noisy and the windows are very thin so you hear it all.
I don't know how this hotel does it. The neighborhood is SO bad! Feces in the street ( I stepped in some), homeless people everywhere, trash, smelly, loud; you name it. It is just AMAZINGLY clean and well-appointed. Super comfortable bed, great amenities in the room, great breakfast, nice people; kudos to whoever runs this place. It can't be easy to be such a great hotel in that area.
The hotel is clean and organized, it has parking, service provided is good, breakfast is ok for the type of hotel, wi-fi works pretty good, they have options to order food from their room service (tgat is actually a restaurant close by) and they deliver to your door room, and it is close to bus stop in case you needed.
DO NOT STAY!!!!! Hotel staffs are thieves. We forgot the cash deposit when check-out. And they refused to return 250USD. No response at all even i asked the agent, Expedia to follow up. Still keep quiet. I took the picture as an evidence but nothing i can do. Cheating hotel. Surrounded by homeless. Not recommend to anyone.
This hotel gave us a GREAT value for our money! Not only was the hotel in a very popular area, the staff was exceptionally friendly & the rooms were spacious and clean! The included breakfast was good but FREE PARKING was included as well!!! Other hotels in the area were charging $40 A NIGHT just to park your car (insane) I will definitely be staying here when I come to San Francisco again!
The Hotel room were very nice and clean and the staff was very friendly. The breakfast had a good choice and was good. They keep the hotel area pretty clean and secured but the area around it is pretty rough buts that on the city and its officials. If you can look past that it's a great place
This hotel is in the Tenderloin district in San Francisco. Heart of homeless, living on the streets, illegal drug activities, species on the sidewalk where you walk. Not healthy area, and noise going on 24/7 so you can't sleep. Yes the staff is very nice and so are the rooms. It's just to bad where the hotel is located. I felt unsafe during my stay.
The Hotel is well maintained and is managed well. All staff are great and well trained to assist and and attend to guests. Location is great and is near the City Hall and Union Square and very accessible even for public transportation
This hotel has some redeeming qualities….good staff, the room was decent (though noisy). BUT, the entire building is surrounded by street folks. Illicit drug use (probably injected and smoked opioid products). A sad reflection where society has ‘progressed' when the numerous police in the area apparently condone this. Is this really progress? A cabbie told me you don't stay in San Fransisco- you stay outside and travel in. I am shocked and saddened by the change in SF since I last visited 5 yrs ago. This was once one of the Crown Jewels of this beautiful country. Sadly, this was my last trip.
I would stay here again. The staff was awesome. The room was nice and clean. The bed was real comfortable. The view was nice too. I highly recommend Best Western Red Coach Inn. The breakfast is not so great, but the hotel is awesome.
I was unable to make my trip to San Francisco, and despite having a non-refundable reservation the hotel was kind enough to grant me a a full refund anyway. For that I am thankful. I didn't give them a higher rating, because there should never be totally non-refundable reservations as long as cancelled more that 24 hours in advance. Then I can understand a nominal cancellation fee of either 1 night's stay or a specific dollar amount. But to have an entire stay be non-refundable is out of step with all major brands and should be ended immediately.
Needed to be close to Golden Gate + other tourist attractions. After researching several hotels and lots of time online, we found this gem. Staff very professional and helpful! (Candy was amazing!-such a hard working employee) Hotel opened recently so all rooms are in great shape! Stayed 2 nights and will definitely stay there again-too much fog @ Golden Gate Bridge) Street noise can get loud but it's to be expected in SF,
Absolutely gorgeous room!! Staff were very helpful. Parking garage locks down at 9p, & this isn't the kind of neighborhood you'd want to walk around in. The walk to the market 3 doors down & to the KFC were an adventure. The open air corridors made it extremely noisy from street sounds. The parking garage was pitch black dark the morning of check out. There were no stairs.. just elevators which presents an issue if there were a fire. Again, very nice facility, but we wouldn't stay there again .
The only reason I'm staying at this hotel is because it's close to the hospital, where a family member is. The front desk person at night was very helpful. He was able to immediately switch my room because the noise from the alley bothering me. The room itself is clean. There's no cold water in the shower, only hot. The room is constantly cold, even with the AC off. The parking is free, which is nice, BUT they lock you in at 9pm. No coming or going, which is very inconvenient. I believe it's for safety, because of the neighborhood? Still kinda ridiculous.
I dont believe people understand the importance of customer service anymore and to be told that they dont have to clean the rooms between guest is disgusting will never stay here again and manager didn't care when I bought my concerns to him
Great stay! This hotel has been redone, updated and is very well put together! Everyone was great. Yes, it's near the Tenderloin, but I have never had any issues. (Previous SF resident, know the city and area) Some mild noise, but it's SF in the city. Location is actually walkabout to a lot of key areas, would stay again. Thanks!
The hotel is... meh. Our key card had to be re-done every day. Housekeeping came in regardless of the Privacy marker. And this hotel is in an area that smelled like urine, and had human feces on the sidewalks. The internet was so slow we just switched to cellular. Nothing was coming through. At breakfast I was told I was using too much almond milk for my cereal. I hated this hotel. The room was nice though. Clean and modern.
We experience a lot of noise from the street, I couldn't sleep normally. Also the piece of soap in the bathroom was as if bitten on the edge. We thought it might be mice.... But the staff on the front desk was helpful and friendly.
I wanted to stay somewhere central to most of the tourist locations and this hotel served me well with its spot- within walking distance to a lot of areas - service there was great! Rooms were pleasantly above my expectations- staff was very friendly! For any future visits i will definitely be staying at that location- will be back there again soon!
We had read that the Inn had been renovated in Nov. of last year and were very pleased with our room & the breakfast provided. We did have trouble finding a nice restaurant within walking distance & the area could have been nicer but we were comfortable, enjoyed our stay & will stay again. We have paid a lot more for other apartments in the past and received a lot less.
The bathroom doors have frosted glass that is actually See- Through. Also, the bathroom doors do not fully cover the door opening so you can see directly into the bathroom. Very rough neighborhood, loud at all hours. Room was clean, updated.
This is a newly renovated motel that has been under the Best Western banner for 3 months. Staff is still learning the process, but were enthusiastic to ensure we had a nice stay. The room was clean, everything functioned, and check-in/check-out went smoothly. The only downside is that on-site parking is limited, and no nearby options seemed to be available. The surrounding neighborhood is not the nicest due to the overwhelming homeless problem that is the new San Francisco (we passed three homeless on the sidewalk outside, including one smoking meth). This is not the fault of the management, they do their best to minimize any outside influences. So do not let this deter you from staying here.
My expectations were low going in, but I was pleasantly surprised. If you are comfortable walking, it is a short distance to lots of cool areas, otherwise it is a short Lyft/Uber ride away from everything. I found my app always wanted them to drop me off on the Willow Street side of the hotel. Make sure to ask your driver to drop you on Eddy or Polk Street instead. The room was newly renovated and clean as can be. It is a loud room, you can hear almost everything from the street, but I just left the fan of the heating/cooling system on and slept really well. The bed was clean and comfortable. The shower was clean and the bathroom is supplied with hand soap, body lotion, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner from pumps on the wall. They also supply toothpaste and shower caps. The room has a safe that you can put you valuables in, but it is very light and it not secured to the sidetable or wall. The safe is battery operated (mine did not have batteries in it upon arrival) and I was able to easily lift it when looking to see if it needed to be plugged in. The staff was wonderful and helpful. They are vigilant to make sure the elevator is only accessible to guests, and gave good directions. Breakfast was pretty good, just a standard eggs, sausage, pancakes, cereal buffet style with yogurt, fruit and other little pastries available. I would absolutely stay here again. It was a perfectly decent hotel at an affordable price in a very expensive city.
This was my first stay here and gave it a try because I'm a Best Western Rewards Diamond member and was in town for the night, so figured I'd give it a try. Some of the reviews are very negative, so I was a little skeptical, however the majority of the complaints had to do with the surrounding neighborhood. Hadn't been to the Tenderloin in a few years, but always enjoyed its eclectic feel and bohemian restaurants, bars, etc... All of that said, I had no idea how bad the Tenderloin has become. It's worse than I expected and dangerous to boot. But that's not the hotel owners fault. The hotel turned out to be very nice! I was checked in by a delightful woman named Candy who was welcoming, friendly and professional. Her colleague Ken was the same and made me feel at home and like I was a longtime patron. My room, 203, was extremely well done. The carpet was brand new, the PTAC unit was too, the bed and couch very comfy, and the bathroom was done beautifully. The tile work in the shower was craftsman-like. Wanted to use the rooftop deck to have a glass of wine and relax after a long work day, but Ken informed me that there was no furniture up there, so couldn't use it. Perhaps that's something the ownership can provide in the future? Would be a nice amenity. Being that I didn't want to walk around at night, (which makes me so sad - what has happened to a once gorgeous city)?, I ate snacks that I bought at a Target, in my room and watched TV instead. Had a very restful night and was up for breakfast at 6.00 am which I brought back to my room as I had a conference call that I had to be on. Breakfast was very nice. Very few choices, but that's fine, as it means less waste. What was available was hot, tasty, and an excellent amenity. Parking was available, which is a great value, however I was using BART, so didn't need it. There's a shuttle to SFO as well, which costs $20.00 per person. Once again I was using BART and the Civic Center station is a short walk away. Long and short, ownership did a beautiful job renovating this hotel, I'm hoping and praying that the neighborhood gets cleaned up, and I commend this group for being pioneers. Also hope that the neighboring businesses take this example and try to copy their thought process. Pride of ownership is contagious. The reason I gave it four instead of five stars, is strictly due to the surrounding area and the dangers of walking around after dark. And thanks to Candy and Ken for making my stay such a nice one.
The hotel itself was great, no issues there. The San Francisco Tenderloin district is a difficult area to be around and doesn't always feel safe, but the hotel can't control that. If you stay here, just be aware and limit walking.
First, the good: The rooms were very recently renovated, they are attractive, and the bed was very comfortable. Everything else is bad news. Checking in took ten minutes. We got charged $30 even though we used Best Western points for a free night. We are still trying to get that refunded. We had to stay two more nights after picking up a bug while traveling, so stayed 3 nights in all. The hotel is surrounded on all sides by homeless people sleeping on the sidewalk and in the alleys. To find even an adequate restaurant requires a few blocks of walking through this. We forgot some underwear and small exercise devices in a drawer when we checked out. The hotel claims they can't find it, and requests to talk to the manager are always answered by “he's not available.” The breakfast, by the way, was minimal and the breakfast room small and crowded. The internet kept going out, and sometimes required that you find the password and re-enter it. We asked for no maid service one day, but the maid came anyway, took our used towels off the towel bars that we planned to reuse, leaving us with no towels at all! There are lots of hotels in SF. Do t waste your time and money on this one.
This hotel charged me $341 as one lump sum for a $169 plus tax room and an “incidentals“ charge of $150, instead of charging one amount for the room and separately putting a hold on the card for incidentals or deposit (which does not normally actually reflect as a charge to the card unless room service or something is ordered, and certainly would not be charged together with the room fee as one lump sum UNLESS THE HOTEL IS ENGAGING IN CORRUPT BUSINESS PRACTICES.) Considering that this is just a low class motel, it's hard to see what “incidentals” I could charge that would amount to $150, and she did say it was for incidentals, not a deposit. When I called down to the front desk, the clerk tried to act like this was a normal practice, instead of admitting that she had made a mistake. So, welcome to the new world of business, where everyone gets screwed and for the benefit of who?
Great hotel in the tenderloin. Centrally located everything within walking distance. The rooms were spacious and well equipped. Staff was friendly and attentive. The renovation has greatly improved this hotel
The room was newly renovated and pretty nice. Bed was very comfortable and loved the bathroom. Not in the best neighborhood but it was convenient to get around San Francisco by Uber and public transportation. If they had breakfast it would have been better. The parking was tight but free which is a plus in the city. Owners were very nice. Would recommend.
Stayed 11/3/18 I was there alone for an event in the city came into the room late to get sleep. Only stayed here as they do have parking. Old and rundown in a terrible location. At some point during my sleep a mirror in a frame fell off the wall. Did not Break. I had heard a bang in the night but did not know what it was until morning when I saw the mirror laying on the floor. Reported it on check out. The guy who runs the place said no problem, and I leave. A month later my credit card bill comes, they charged me $250. I called them about it, at first they denied they even charged me, finally after I called back they acknowledged they did and promised a refund. Refund did not come. Called again and now they are charging me for the mirror that did not break. Filed complaint with CC company, and Hotels.com STAY AWAY, SUPER SHADY. Said they refund, now wont. STAY AWAY!
Technically, the rooms are okay and the staff is friendly. But the area is quite unpleasant, and we felt uneasy and unsafe walking the streets even in the early evening. Don't be misguided by the location on the map, when you walk through this area, it seems to be very far away from everything. And finally, wifi did not work for us, neither in the room nor in front of the reception.
