"Comfy beds, bit loud and not much done"
Good location for Point Richmond, close to restaurants. Parking lot Friday night looked like party central. Broken glass everywhere Saturday night party in the room next to us. Front desk was poor at getting them to be quiet. Breakfast is ehhhh Beds and room nice, but the party next door was awful

"Great experience"

"Comfortable bed and decent breakfast, but the facility needs improvements."
We booked this hotel to attend my daughter's wedding. Since it was only a few miles away, we thought it would be short commute. However, each time we needed to cross the Richmond–San Rafael Bridge going west, the traffic was backed up so it would take nearly an hour to travel to the wedding location. Good things: * The room was clean. * A comfortable bed, free internet, free breakfast Bad things: * The rooms are all non-smoking but since guests can smoke on their porches or curb just outside their room, our room still smelled like smoke. The door didn't seal very well which probably contributed to this problem. * In the bathroom, the fixtures (e.g. toilet paper holder) were coming out of the tile -- barely held on. * Very noisy with the freeway so nearby. * No elevators, so we had to carry our luggage up to the second floor. * The room was clean, but the grounds were not.

"They will way overcharge you!"
We gave them a Best Western gift card worth $300 for a one night stay that cost about $100. They took the entire $300 and after a month of telling us they will refund the $200 they have still not done so. This is more than staff not being trained, this is an owner who is stealing from their customers. Also, the place was so noisey overnight we did not get any sleep. Do not stay at this hotel.

"Its ok for one night"
The place was good and overall but some of the guests party all night at the pool, they did not swim it was too cold but they drink and talk all night by the pool, the bathrooms are ok. But you might need to bring your own cleaning stuff, breakfast was good, just the potatoes was cold and raw, but it was plenty of other food I can eat.

"Extremely Disappointed"
Poor customer service, rooms not cleaned well, doors not sealed when closed, loose door handles, security mount not effective as door opens easily, smoke alarm falling off of wall by door, weeds throughout property, empty vending machines. Extremely disappointed.

So when I arrived parking lot was clean and they have a nice pool and also security on the property I really enjoyed my stay I come here every week for the next few months I will be looking forward to staying with this hotel .

"Unsafe, sketchy location"
I never write reviews but would like to save someone from losing your money on this hotel. This hotel is in an extremely unsafe, sketchy location as evidenced by the tall iron fence surrounding the property. We pulled in, drove around to check everything out and left immediately as we didn't feel like we would be safe or that our car would be safe in the parking lot. We weren't even able to get a refund of our room fee. I'm disappointed that best western affiliates with this kind of dirty, run down area and that they don't refund room money. I won't be staying with best western any longer as I have no trust in their standards.

"Nice but a neighborhood location"

"A remark from a happy traveler"
The General Manager was flexible in accommodating our requests at check-in. The room does not have fancy decor, but is cozy and meets our practical needs. We like its convenient location and it is quiet all the time.

"Sure StayPlus"
This place is awesum. 1st- the room was very nice. Plenty of space, comfortable bed,nice and clean and fridge and microwave which is perfect. The property is well kept and clean, looks like walkways had just been cleaned because they were still wet. The freeway outside where my room located but could barely hear traffic. They also had earplugs in room great idea( altho i wont need them. Saving the best for last and that would be the wonderful, friendly, professional ladies at front dest. I booked thru Expedia and there was a problem with reservation no fault of hotel, but JEANNINE & ELIZABETH went above and beyond to solve the problem. They are awesum. Ill be in area for 9 weeks for a job and this is where i will be staying, mostly because of excellent customer service. I reccommend if youre in this area and need room come here i would give it 10 stars for hotel and 20 for great front desk!!!!! Thank you again Jeannine and Elizabeth!!

"Hidden hotel"
We pulled up to hotel and noticed not much around . We walked into lobby and it's such a well decorated lobby . There was a young lady there and she had a big smile gave us are room told us breakfast hours and then gave us directions to are room . The room was very clean and the tv was big . Plus we were able to go to lobby later on and get coffee we will be back in about a month and will stay again thank you .

"Location is great but noisy rooms"
We stayed for a couple of nights. Location is great, right off the highway. But since it's that close the rooms are very noisy. Also, right next door to the train track that will keep you awake at night (ear plugs are supplied in the room). Breakfast is limited but okay. The rooms are spacious and clean. We didn't like that we could smell smoke coming through the bathroom fan. Given that the hotel was in a sketchy area we would not recommend of staying here.

"900 for two nights?"
Maxed out my Cc for 2 nights charged me for four rooms instead of one now my card is maxed out and I can't access funds ruined while vacation, and drove over 500 miles if I was in an emergency I would have Been SOL never again staying here would rather buy a blanket and sleep in my car and shower at 24 then get charged 900 for a 200 stay thanks for killing good memories

"A Diamond in the Rough"
Although the immediate area can be a bit misleading with industrial stress... this hotel is quite nice at a decent price. Newly remodeled and under some tough management (Miss J) they have their act together... clean remodeled rooms, secure parking, nice staff, and within a very short walk to the “old town” area... nice restaurants and niche shopping, and of course, the beach at Point Richmond... nice walking park and families having fun. Lots of outdoor activity with the locals doing “outdoor stuff” with their families. Large vehicle parking in a secure lot. Night time security officer, pretty decent place. I've spent many weekends here on business and keep coming back. You can always tell when the management team is proactive instead of reactive... always keeping their hotel clean and ready for guests.

This hotel is beautiful and the desk staff is friendly and I'm so glad there is hot breakfast here . The manager was dealing with a guest as the guest is calling her names and manager just said thank you And have a nice day management did not show any anger just smiled she was very professional and this would make me come back to stay at this hotel

I've stayed @ this The SureStay Richmond Ca for 3 nights per week for the past several months. The staff is very friendly and always accommodating! They have a free breakfast with many options and it always satisfies my hunger needs! The newly remodeled rooms are always clean and there is a HUGE TV for your entertainment needs! Free WiFi too.

"Do Not Trust These People"
When my husband arrived at the hotel there were two rooms booked for him. It was quite obvious he did not need two rooms. It appeared to be a mix up with the booking by Hotels.com.The hotel assured him he would not be billed for the second room. When the credit card statement arrived, both rooms had been charged. A phone call to the hotel ended with an assurance the second charge would be reversed within a week. After a week, a second call to the hotel revealed a decision had been made there would be no reversal of the charges as it was seen as a cancellation. Hotels.com assured us "SureStay Plus Hotel by Best Western" was not acting in good faith but unfortunately there was nothing Hotels.com could do to get the money back. We will dispute the charge via our credit company, but in the meantime, I would suggest staying away from people like this.

"All Business"
The hotel rooms have been renovated and there is no carpet in the rooms. It is conveniently located near the freeway so expect some road noise. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. I would stay again.

"Worst customer service experience ever!"
Dear Best Western, I am curious to know if you have a hand in hiring employees in all your locations. You are the parent company of Surestay Plus Hotel in Richmond, CA where I just had en extremely upsetting interaction with an employee named Stephanie and the general manager name Jeannie P over the phone. My father is currently driving down to California where he needs a hotel in Novato. My husband was looking at Expedia for one and when he typed in Novato, this Surestay came up. We looked at it and decided to book it. Unfortunately we did not see that it is Richmond until the booking went all the way through. Once we saw this we immediately called Expedia to cancel and come to find out, your GM refuses to cancel the reservation. It was a simple mistake that we immediately tried to rectify and because we booked for the same day it is impossible to give the 24 hour cancellation. Apparently, and I am guessing due to the rude employees, this hotel is hurting for money so bad that they don't care if they screw people over. The best part of this experience was that your employee Stephanie laughed at us and gave me attitude when I asked to speak with the manager and the manger said, "we've already told Expedia that we won't refund the money" in the rudest tone she could possibly have. If this is what passes for customer service in your chain, then I promise to never stay with any Best Western affiliated hotel for as long as I live and I will make it my mission to let all my family, friends and anyone that will listen know what type of service to expect when dealing with Best Western. I am extremely disgusted with this service and as a company in the customer service industry you should be ashamed for letting this behavior go on as long as it has. Maybe you should read the reviews others have given about this location you own. Maybe you should go over your motto with your employees that is actually posted on your website. In case they haven't seen it, I attached it.
"Nice business hotel"
I used to stay at this property when it was the Days Inn and it was awful then. Now that it is the Best Western SureStay Inn, it is an excellent property. Great hot breakfast every morning. Comfortable beds in nicely remodeled rooms.

"Horrible and Unsafe"
DO NOT STAY HERE! Cannot have enough HORRIBLE things to say about this place - I booked this hotel for 5 days. Checked into hotel without any issue. Next morning I got to know that I have to shift my room as my room was pre booked for the activity from very next day. Having no option I agreed but with a condition, that I will shift the room only in evening after talking to the person who allocated the room at first place and I will move my stuff on my own. On that day I reached the hotel about 10:30 PM and swipe in the keys at my allocated room. Room door got open but it was bolted from inside. SOMEONE ELSE was in my room. After contacting first desk, they told me that they shifted to another room. I asked about my luggage and the hotel staff was unable to locate my luggage for about 30 minutes even after searching almost 6 different room based on their assumptions. I requested multiple times to go to my previously allocated room and check one more time as it was allocated to some one else. Finally able to locate my luggage in the bathroom of the previously allocated room. After going through my luggage I found that some of my valuable stuff is no more in my luggage. I spoke to hotel about it and they said to provide a list of missing items, I did provided the list but that was of no use. How can a hotel assign a room for only 2 days when I am staying for 5 days and asked to shift to a different room and on top of that shift the room without any information or consent. Front desk staff essentially ignored me and said there is nothing they could do and had no sympathy. DO NOT STAY HERE--so unsafe!

Sorry about your stay but your luggage was never moved and actually you never walked into your room and someone else was in room room was vacant and as far as hotel being unsafe we have never had any issues with it being unsafe .
"HORRIBLE"
DO NOT STAY HERE! Cannot have enough HORRIBLE things to say about this place--just after I woke up in the morning, I was horrified to find a strange man who had access to my room was able to open up the door to my room. I had the door bolted but it was a terrifying experience, especially given that the hotel was in such a sketchy area. "Stay away "
Currently staying here. Right next door to train track so you keep hearing train going into the yard with the bell ringing. At night cars drag racing and doing burnouts. Now let's start on the hotel it's self. The staff are rude when we were checking in. It's the first time I've checked into a room where ear plugs are supplied. Breakfast is between 6am-9am. At 9am they lock the door and whilst you are getting breakfast staff are packing everything away. I really wouldn't call it breakfast as it was dry and tasteless. The rooms are outdated and you hear people in room above and next door. The bathroom is that small it's beyond a joke. Do yourself a favour and do your research and look elsewhere. I wish we did and 4 nights was 4 too long
"It's not the hotel...it's the area"
We stayed at this hotel since it had a decent price for the San Francisco area. The hotel gives you what it offers. Cons The rooms are small and noisy..we had a family next door that we heard every word and sound they made. Doors have a gap so big between the ground that you can put a finger thru. Room was clean. Front desk staff efficient and kind. Breakfast was according to price. Now the real problem: and I know it's not the hotels fault, is the area. It's horrible. We got robbed having diner close by in Vellejo after we jumped off the ferry. And the front desk told us that a couple of days earlier an Italian family was robbed also, but they lost EVERYTHING. So my advice would be: 1. Don't go to San Francisco 2. If you do...spend a couple of $ extra and go to a better area 3. If you end up here, take care. Leave documents in the hotel safe (it has some in the front desk). And always have your stuff with you. NEVER NEVER leave your suitcases and things in your car. We learned the hard way....

"Pass by this pseudo hotel"
Very tiny room, not staffed with chairs and toilet lid, poor lighting, noisy from outside, very little sockets, tiny fridge, floor is dirty because sweep only is the cleaning procedure. Horrible food.

We apologize that the free breakfast was something you didn't like and cleaning of the floors . We try to make all guest happy and we are sorry your stay was not enjoyable .
"Don't stay here if you want to sleep"
We stayed here for 2 nights to see San Fran and went over to downtown with the ferry. When reading the reviews before arrival, we actually wanted to cancel our stay because we read the rooms were noisy. The booking didn't allow us a cancellation anymore so we asked for a silent room when we checked in. The lady gave us the noisiest room they had, at a corner, facing the freeway and the street. We had two nights of no sleep. Complimentary earplugs don't really help since the drivers go crazy on the street, doing races and there is also no noise limit for vehicles in the US. The breakfast closes at 9am when people on holiday would usually wake up. But that doesn't matter so much since the breakfast is horrible anyway. Staff was not caring about guest and unfriendly at breakfast. Closing the room door was only possible with a lot of power.

"Good value"
Stayed here three nights. Hotel is close to San Fran and less expensive as most other hotels in the bay area. Beds are good. We stayed in a room facing the pool and weren't bothered by the noises of the trains nor the highway. Breakfast was simple but sufficient.

"Most all was good except for some handicap issues"
We liked this place and felt that the rooms were good and clean. Our conflict was that we had booked a handicap room for someone whose legs don't work. The first room (2 queens) we were sent to didn't have enough room to get the electric wheelchair to the bathroom and the beds were too high for him to transfer from the wheelchair. Discussing options with the office, we were given a king room and the only way we could resolve the getting into bed issue was to have a roll away bed brought in. He could transfer to it but that means the King Bed couldn't be used at all and the room was super crowded. There was no shower chair or roll in shower and EVERY motel should offer shower chairs. They are cheap but not something we can travel with. There was plenty of room in the bathroom for one and I am sure if it was there it would be used to sit on to dress, to pull up to sink to do make up and to use in the shower. It really was needed!!!! So the motel was good but not so accessible for handicap.

"Great value for money"
We stayed here for our visit to San Francisco. It is a relaxed drive from here to Sausolito and you can take te ferry to Pier 39 from there. Good value for money! No restaurants around but breakfast is included. The hotel is near the highway exit. This is convenient but the highway can be a little bit noisy. However, earplugs are on the room! Also very good Internet on the room.

"Horrible Manager"
This Manager is better suited for a cheap Trailer Park but not the face for Best Western properties. I am a rewards member platinum and she is by far the worst manager ever. Rude Crude and Socially unacceptable

This particular place is where all the refinery contractors stay. So its got what you need but built for workers. The floors are vinyl as carpet wouldnt last a month with dirty steel toe boots. Clean. A large stone counter runs across one side of the room for your stuff. Again it looks built for abuse rather than an aesthetic. Beds large and comfy. Breakfast room was large compared to most places. Plenty of space and never ran out of food which seems all too common. The girl at the desk was fine. Saw some complaints about staff. I had no problems, but i dont make a pest of myself either. The price was great and they have private security at night so no derelicts or panhandlers to worry about. I will stay here next time im in the area.

Do not stay at this hotel if you want a good nights sleep,you could hear everything from the adjoining room and also the noise from outside the room,there seemed to be no noise insulation whatsoever,which is a shame as the room and location was good

"Good for the value"
We stayed one night during out road trip, and it was perfect for us to have relaxing time after check-in and Uber to the main drag for dinner. It was quiet during the night even though our room was on the street side wing, and on the first floor. Toasts and pastries are very well presented for breakfast. Also we were surprised at remodeled interior
"Its not always the hotel"
Hotel room was good didn't know it was an outside entry to room didn't say in the profile. Remarkable the inside of the rooms was nice, neat, and attractive. The area was fair but I would not leave my window open. Hotel breakfast staff was rude and not willing to give milk after breakfast had just ended. The breakfast staff didn't make enough food so they ran out of sausages.

"Very rude and unwelcome employees"
Very rude front desk employee. The room was dusty and I had to ask multiple times my room to be cleaned on my 2nd day. The walls are very thin and you can hear the outside noise. The hotel is between a busy hwy and trains. High noise whole night, unable to rest. Internet was not working for first 2 days. Front desk blamed their internet problems on my devices and asked me to call their internet support service to fix their problems. Will never stay here again.

"Noisy and Worn Out"
Another pig with lipstick. They redid the rooms and forgot to add soundproffing to the windows and doors. Truck and train traffic all night Stupid TV Remote does not access all TV functions (LIKE SLEEP!!!) Internet was non-existant

"Great Price"
The staff is very nice. Free breakfast is always a plus, not a fan of the instant eggs though. Overall the room was nice but needed a few repairs but nothing crazy. The price of the room was great with what you get. Perfect location if you want to be between San Francisco and Six Flags. Neighborhood is ok but don't venture too far, Richmond is not the best neighborhood around.
"Value for money stay"
Not the best location if you are looking at exploring the San Francisco downtown area, but truly the value for money kind of a stay. Point Richmond that's the location of this hotel is approx. 45minutes drive from the downtown area of SFO. Totally impressed with the size and the newly refurbished room. Breakfast is similar to the Best Western standards. The front office staff could do a better job with a smile! Not impressed with their attitude and the laid-back behaviour at all. One of the many among the front desk was way too loud and mannerless. Honestly, I wish I had remembered this lady's name but she was upset with some guest and she was talking rudely and loudly at most times. Definitely recommend the higher authorities to look into the behaviour of all the staff at the front desk.

"Nice place to stay"
It is very nice place. Clean, big enough, Breakfast is simple, but enough. Also very good point to explore SF. Very close to highway, you have in the neighborhood a lot of stores, restaurants. Room is nice, clean, good beds,... I recommend the place. There is also a pool.

we stayed for 1 night in this clean, modern hotel. We had a lovely ground floor room opposite the pool which was quiet and comfortable. 2 big comfortable beds. Only downside is for number of guests staying the breakfast room was very small and it was not replenished frequently enough.

"Clean, Updated Rooms"
The rooms are definitely nothing fancy. Our room had two queen beds, a nightstand, a desk, and a single chair. There was not any seating area or anywhere to relax and visit with friends and family. That being said, everything was very clean and it appeared to have been remodeled fairly recently so everything was pretty current and in good shape. There where no strange odors. The staff was pleasant. The hot breakfast leaves a bit to be desired for sure, but for a motel in this price range it is probably better than most. The motel is located across the street from a busy railway line/station so there is quite a bit of noise from that but it was not loud enough that we had any trouble sleeping, but if you are sensitive to noise, I suspect you would (they do provide a pair of ear plugs in the room also). Overall we were pleasantly surprised at how clean and recently remodeled the room was, especially for the price. We just wish that the room had been more comfortable and had a sitting area to relax in.

"somewhat surprising."
i was just looking for a reasonable price but this hotel was also in a pretty good location as well. the room was quiet and clean. i was worried when we parked the car because i saw someone vaping 2 doors down and i didn't want to smell it through my air conditioner but i never did. the pillows were my favorite part. i have neck pain most days but never did the 2 nights i stayed here.

"Intolerable issues beyond hotel's control"
I had never heard of this cheap chain which is part of Best Western and certainly they offer very competitive rates, although the properties are a bit off the beaten path. This property is pretty much in the middle of nowhere, being close to the train yards and the quaint little town of Point Richmond, but it is quite a distance from Richmond itself. However, don't be fooled into thinking you've found a quiet spot off the beaten track. Far from it. First off, the building sits on the corner of a busy intersection, right next to a gas station and the parking lot is used by many industries, not just guests. For my entire stay, there were several trucks using the parking lot that created huge noise issues, despite being permanently parked. No wonder the hotel provides free ear plugs which are handed over on check in. You'll need them. One refrigerated truck was parked the entire time of my stay, about 100 yards from my room. Periodically the truck's aircon system automatically switched on and created the noise you'd normally expect from a plane. It was deafening. This went on day and night. Other vast industrial vehicles keep arriving and leaving and in some cases, drivers left the engines running for several hours at a time. Add to that, many guests are themselves driving vast vehicles with incredibly noisy engines and if they're parked outside your room and they're leaving at 6AM, that's your wake up call! One guy started his engine at 6AM but didn't drive off until 7:30AM. The noise from the engine was deafening and it was right outside my door. If all this wasn't trying enough, just across the street is a very busy railway track where freight trains are coming and going morning, noon and night. A LOT during the night. Most of this is beyond the hotel's responsibility, but it is insufferable. Surprisingly, there actually isn't much (or any) room-room noise to complain about. The rooms themselves are clean, comfortable and a reasonable size. Good heat/aircon, good power points, excellent free WIFI, coffee maker (no tea provided), fridge and microwave. Plus there's the biggest TV I think I've ever seen in any hotel anywhere, but a lousy, limited selection of channels. There isn't really anywhere to put bags or clothes, which is tricky. Linens are relatively clean and the rooms feel they've been modernised quite recently. Bathrooms are spacious and clean, but the towels could do with a bit of a close inspection. Quite a few stains and a lot of long black hairs stuck to the fabric. They provide soap, shampoo and hair dryer. Hot water pressure is very good in the shower/tub combo. Be aware that there are some dodgy people around the area. Not many, but some are quite aggressive. The whole lot is open to the streets. There are gates, but they are never closed. Some rooms are 'blind' from the main hotel building and thus I felt very insecure if something happened and I always took everything of value with me when I wasn't in the room. I may have had no reason to be worried, but I didn't want to take any risks. One mad woman who was always around the property with her cart loads of belongings was very aggressive and unpleasantly threatening. Housekeeping is daily, but it's slow. Most days, they don't come around before 4PM. One day, they didn't show up until 5:30PM. Many times, my room key failed to work and I had to go back to get it changed. In the main complex, there is a pool, but it looked a bit grubby. There's also outdoor patio seating. In the lobby there is a computer and printer which is free to use. The slightly grubby cafe provides a pretty substantial breakfast, if you like stodgy, fattening, unhealthy food. Pancakes, breads, scrambled eggs, sausages, juices made with water, coffee and a weird yogurt. Apples are the only fresh thing on the menu. Since it's 'free' and included in the rate, it's hard to complain. One complaint are the crowds. It gets very busy. It's free! So families pack in and it's very hard to serve yourself or get a table, especially on the weekends. Unwashed children helping themselves to mounds of food and large families still in their PJ's shoving anyone in the way of the pancakes is quite annoying. Bit of a weird option and not sure what area it's serving. Too far for SF, but reasonably close for East Bay points. You certainly get what you pay for, but the noise from the vehicles using the hotel lot is intolerable.

"LYING, STEALING MANAGEMENT"
A word to the wise . . . read the other reviews of this place before you book a room here. I stayed at this property in February 2019. The exterior grounds were filthy . . . trash and debris all over the parking lot. Room was decent, although no carpet on the floor, just cold vinyl tile, and the door to my room could be opened with just a plastic card inserted between the door and the door frame. But, worst of all, having "paid" for my two nights' stay with Best Western Rewards points, I was charged an additional $71.00 for unknown reasons after I checked out. The hotel never provided a "folio" to show what the charge was for, and refuses to refund my money, so I couldn't even get a reimbursement from my employer. Best Western Customer Service has been ABSOLUTELY NO HELP to a **Diamond Select** Rewards Member in resolving this matter. I have repeatedly provided them my bank statements to prove I was charged and never refunded the $71.00. Hotel management will not reciprocate by providing proof that they even initiated the refund they claim was processed a month after my stay. NO INTEGRITY WHATSOEVER. And **even worse** than this . . . after writing to both the CEO and Chairman of the Board of Best Western Hotels, I have not yet received the courtesy of a reply from either of them in over a month. NEVER AGAIN AT THIS CRAPPY PLACE WITH INEPT AND LYING MANAGEMENT.
"Best $180 A Night Hotel for $89 in The Bay Area"
We come to the Bay Area for an extended visit with family about once a year. Our priority is a clean, comfortable, secure, and affordable place to stay. SureStay Plus hit all the marks. They are conveniently located just off I-580 Exit 8 near the Rosie The Riveter Homefront Museum and Park. They are near the new Point Richmond Ferry that provides a cross bay connection to San Francisco during commuter hours. They are also within a quick drive of the Golden Gate Bridge, Fort Point, The Presidio, UC Berkeley, and other points of interest. There aren't many restaurants nearby, but we were on the move most of the time anyway, so that was not an issue for us. The parking lot is secure and well lit. The free breakfast included sausage and eggs, as well as a pancake machine. I appreciated the decaffeinated coffee. The security people were pretty visible and there are lots of cameras to keep an eye on things. We were on the street side, but traffic noise was pretty minimal after about 9 p.m. We stayed 5 nights, then came back for one more within a week. All in all, we've stayed at places twice as expensive that were half the value of this SureState Plus location. We'll be back next year.

"SureNot to StayAgain"
Room was big enough, but very noisy (we stayed at the road side). You only can sleep with earplugs. The airco was not very powerfull, the climate stayed stuffy. The bed was large and very good, so our nights were acceaptable. For the breakfast you can better go somewhere else, because there is only unhealthy food available. The motel is located at a boring location nearby freeway and there is nothing around at all.

"Won't be here again"
Really bad service at the front desk. Gnarly rooms with vinyl plank flooring and noisy being next to freeway. Lousy tiny parking spots with potholes all over the parking lot. Nice pool, but has no lounge chairs or plants / umbrellas for shade. Terrible area.

"SureStay BW"
The rooms at this hotel are usually very nice with plenty of space and we love the beds. They have reading lights and night stands on both sides of the bed! However, I lowered my rating on this stay because the main light for the room didn't work, and could not get it to work and the desk lamp was missing. Made the room much darker than I like. They also raised the prices since I had been there 3 weeks earlier.

"Horrible treatment and overcharged"
I would usually give a great review but i stayed one night 4/18.on my check out date 4/19 manager Janeen Smith treated me so poorly I went home and cried. I asked for help about four extra nights charged to my account made by the hotel. Janeen told me I was I liar, the B word and refused to give me refund and told me I was on the no rent list. I filled a dispute with the hotel corporate office still waiting for a response and fiked a dispute with my bank to have them investigate. The manager Janeen was so unprofessional and very mean.

"WORST HOTEL EVER!!!!!!!"
I can not begin to describe how truly HORRIBLE this hotel is I didn't even make it to stay I cancelled and left due to the front desk people as well and the MANAGER. They are beyond rude never in my life have I experienced such horrible, nasty customer service. They told me they released the hold on my card for $111 but I never received my money back and when I called they yelled at me and told me it was my banks fault and not theirs when the charge says pending from merchant not my bank. They keep telling me they gave my money back but didn't. I've never even wrote a review in my life but my experience was so bad I felt nobody should experience what I went through. Till this day I am fighting with them to return my money. Moral of the story NEVER stay with them I don't care if the room was 0.25 cents THAT is how AWFUL they are. They don't even deserve the rats and roaches they have at the hotel let alone your hard working money.

"Pleasantly surprised"
I wasn't sure of booking here because some reviews. It was a last minute reservation. When I got there, I was pleasantly surprised. Hotel has been remodeled recently, friendly staff. The price was reasonable. I will recommend it. If you are a light sleeper, book a two queen beds room.
"Nice place"
Nice place to stay without spending much. Free breakfast, WiFi and free parking. They have security at night. Helpful and friendly staff. They have a pool but I didn't have time to check it out. I will stay again when I visit the bay.
"Terrible"
Terrible stay, Noisy from the nearby traffic (highway) and a dog in the room next door (little sleep). I asked the night attendant for a bottle of water (i would have paid for it) but he sent me to the vending machine where there was none, then sends me next door to the gas station but the gas station is closed leaving me with nothing to drink to take my meds. Breakfast no fruit and because we couldn't sleep due to the noise we woke up late and breakfast was none left and that attendant was putting stuff away. I would not recommend this BW unless you have no choice. On the way out the next attendant offers us 2 bottles of water for the road yet i couldn't have one for meds. I would give a negative review if it was available. Very unsatisfied.

"industrial district motel"
This is an industrial area motel with good proximity to several locations important to my business. For this reason, my expectations were not high--there is a lot of traffic, trains, and commerce, but the motel offers a respite from most of this. It is some distance to restaurants, and the neighborhood is not one to walk around in. All that said, it is convenient and the staff is welcoming. I will stay there again if business takes me there.

"Would Stay Again!"
First time here. Our room was very clean and had everything we needed -mini fridge, coffee maker, microwave, hair dryer, and clothes iron. We took advantage of the free breakfast included (offered between 6am and 9am). It was very yummy and included a lot of options- eggs, pancakes, toast, muffins, yogurt, cereal, teas, coffee, a variety of juices, milk. We also loved that check-out of at 12pm. That extra hour helped us a lot. Overall, it was an excellent value. Would come back again for sure!

"S F trip 2019"
We used reward points for this stay and so the motel was farther from the city than we would have preferred. However the room was very clean, though sparsely furnished. There was a refrigerator and microwave, and a full breakfast was included. The hi speed wifi was most useful, as we traveled with two grandkids and their computers.

It is near the highway but honestly the highway noise was not bad at all. We were in a room that looks onto the pool. The trains come a lot which are actually easier to hear but that's Point Richmond! you will get that anywhere. The place provides ear plugs. The rooms have been updated The water pressure was good. We always felt safe.

"Stayed a couple of times, but no more."
BW has invested in this property to make it competitive; the area is really less than desirable, so there is some Security on the grounds. That said, they did not invest in staff: poor communication skills, phone calls are not handled properly, and my cancellation request was ignored, resulting in a charge now under dispute. Nobody needs this grief when traveling, and as far as I know, BW has damaged their reputation, which not having been stellar in the first place, I used to use them when I had to.

"Don't judge a book by its cover."
The stay at the SureStay in Point Richmond, CA. is known for its bad bad (poor people) reputation. I felt safe. The town where the SureStay is, is more of a boat storage community. Very industrial area. Everyone was very helpful. I would rent from this hotel again. People around town were lovely and courteous.

"Clean room, good value"
The housekeeping is top-notch, my room got good daily attention and the towels were folded into attractive shapes. It was quiet at night and my bed was comfortable. The hot breakfast was good. Restaurants were in walking distance. I was surprised at the low price considering this is the San Francisco Bay area.

"Gets the job done"
Because I'd never stayed at a SureStay property before, I did some basic research to find out more prior to my stay. In brief, they are (formerly often independent) properties which do not meet all criteria for Best Western franchise(e)s, but still want to be a part of the extended BW brand family. With SureStay Plus (a step up from SureStep) you May expect pleasant extras like a pool and hot complimentary breakfast. The SSP in Point Richmond is conveniently located off a highway ramp and in an industrial zone. This means that you will have to drive to any shopping or dining place. Not the cleanest rooms in the universe by a longshot, but really adequate if you are not too particular. When breakfast is complimentary, I am happy to take anything the hotel cares to throw at me. Here, it makes for a filling - if not very inspiring - meal. Extremely friendly and helpful staff.

"Average stay, decent breakfast"
From the outside, this looks like a roadside motel, but the rooms are comfortable. The even numbered rooms are facing the hotel pool and the odd numbered ones are facing the road. I stayed in an odd numbered room and I did experience some traffic sounds inside my room. They gave me an accessible room and the bathroom was very big and designed for accessibility. The room is standard, the air conditioning worked smoothly. There is hot breakfast provided. Consisted of eggs, sausage and pancakes apart from the usual assortment of bread, cereals and fruits. I'd have rated this a notch higher but for the price. The hotel was quite expensive. While that can generally be said about the Bay Area, I'd still dent a point for the early three digits they charged me for the small room.

"Great affordable place"
The hotel was very nice and clean. Check in was quick and the included breakfast was a plus. Definitely recommend to anyone looking for a quality affordable place outside of San Francisco. Easy access to freeway if using uber or lyft to get around.

"Good value"
Although this is not a fancy hotel, the room was clean, comfortable, and had what I wanted (towels, shampoo, conditioner, soap, hair dryer, refrigerator, microwave oven, comfortable bed), and it was spacious. The only downside was a bit of freeway noise.

"Nice Hotel, Not So Nice Location"
The hotel itself is great, clean rooms, great amenities and nice grounds. It was a comfortable room overall. Nicely decorated rooms appear to have been recently remodeled, we enjoyed the breakfast options (eggs, sausage, pancakes, cereals, toast/english muffins, juices & coffee). My complaint is the proximity to a freeway overpass and the noise level it brings. It was an all night nuisance. There were some courtesy ear plugs offered which I quickly came to realize the reason for. Maybe the room needs a bit more soundproofing. Also the room had a cigarette smell. All the rooms are non-smoking, but this room just had an odor the especially at night started to give me a slight headache. Tip: Ask for a room that does not face the freeway.

Check in was quick and all seemed to be in order until evening. Other guests were loud, cars racing up and down the street, someone smoking pot outside my room - ugh. Breakfast was the only highlight.

"Nice San Francisco Alternative"
I don't often write reviews on TripAdvisor, as I use Yelp more often. I feel like when it comes to Yelp, people are more likely to complain rather than leave an actual review. I have been staying here now for about six months. When first getting off the freeway, it doesn't look very promising. I have only stayed here since they've become a part of the Best Western family, and the rooms are much nicer on the inside, than they are on the outside. Room have been renovated about a year ago, and are still very decent for the price. I'm at Best Western Diamond Select member, and would say their cleanliness is better than other hotels in the area. One thing I've noticed with most hotels, is that the blanket covers are not cleaned for each new stay. I noticed here that all bed sheet covers are replaced with each stay, which is a big deal with me. You may not get the nicest views, and breakfast is actually very decent for the price, but you're also paying much less than other hotels. It does seem like there are a lot of construction companies that send their employees here for overnight stays, not a big deal to me, but there might be some guys in the parking lot with some beers, if that's big deal, then you might want to look elsewhere. I've noticed their soda machines also charge when you swipe your credit card even when they have no sodas in stock (ever!).

"A Good Alternative to High Priced San Francisco Hotels."
We chose this hotel as it is close to San Francisco but more reasonably priced. While the hotel is located in a more industrial area it is just around the corner from I-580 which will have you in San Francisco in 20 minutes and there is a casino about 3 miles away. We happened get a handicap accessible room which was very clean and comfortable. There was a small fridge, a microwave, and coffee maker. The whole hotel had been recently renovated and was furnished attractively. A free typical continental breakfast was offered from 6:00-9:00 and there is a business center where I was able to print out our boarding passes. If you want a clean functional room without a lot of luxury this is a good choice.

"Won't stay again!!!!"
I checked in using points. So it was a free stay. I was aware I had a $50 security deposit. Got to my room and was alerted by my credit card company that another $142 was placed against my card. I went back to the desk and was given the run around. So I called Best Western. I was told they would notify the mgr at the location. Nothing was ever done!! I ask the employee what the charge was for... she was argumentative and kept talking over me. No body could ever tell me why there was $142 pending against my credit card. This tied up $200 of my already tight budget!!!!! Now for the hotel... the area presents as “Lock your door”!! It's next to a shipping yard. I asked if there was a place to eat or a grocery store around and was told they were 20 miles away, only to find out, on the last day, that both were only a mile away. The floors in the room were tile and had not been cleaned in a longggg time!! My feet were black after walking around the room. There were spider webs behind the bathroom door. The pool wasn't working at any point, during the 5 day stay. Basically the hotel is a low budget hole in the wall. But besides the hotel issues..... the employees manners and attitudes were horrible!!!! Worse than any hotel I have ever stayed in!!!!!!! I will NEVER offer or book any of my clients into this hotel as a travel agent!!!!!!

"Off the beaten path"
Changed my reservation from a different hotel to this one a week prior to arrival. I don't regret my choice, however, there were some things about this property that could use improvement. Front desk staff was pleasant, including Josh who checked us in. There was a security guard in the parking lot sitting in a pickup truck all night, every night. It was a pretty remote location, so I'm not sure why it was needed. Breakfast selection decent, but perhaps something else (i.e. fruit loops) for kids that may stay. Laundry room was just one washer, one dryer. It was a pretty big room but since nothing else was in the room, perhaps a small table or counter area would actually help. Dryer worked, but did not dry. At all. There was remnants of a paper sign on the dryer (tape/edges) so I'm thinking it didn't work recently anyway. There was a large gap at the bottom of the door (a larger threshold could fix this problem) so you could hear a lot of noise outside--including the railroad crossings hourly in the middle of the night.

"Served It's Purpose"
We called around 7am on the day of our check-in to see if an early check-in was available. The young (could tell by her voice ALONG with the lack of customer service experience we perceived she exhibited) front desk associate seemed to brush us off with her answer, "Let me check," and ultimately became, "No," after a brief hold. She then told us to check back around 1pm-2pm (check-in 3pm). We arrived around 2pm. The young looking front desk associate who helped us was not very friendly nor was she very customer service oriented. We asked her for an early check-in. She said they don't have anything; she didn't even check. I told her that I was told earlier on the phone (didn't mention names nor sex on purpose) to check back between 1pm-2pm. She then ARGUED BACK, "I didn't promise you an early check-in." Aha...so it was YOU who spoke with me. Ummmm...Miss, a major rule of customer service is DO NOT ARGUE WITH YOUR CUSTOMERS!!!!! That kind of set me off. We did get an early check-in, the ONLY saving grace for this transaction. Our whole transaction was a very impersonal experience. She never looked at us once; no smile, no small talk (how was your day, what brings you here, etc), She was completely lacking in customer service skills. I just attribute it to her youth and inexperience. Our room was ok. It looked remodeled, but it seemed as if it was done in a haphazard manner. The details: top/bottom corners, edges, where the walls meet the floor, the HUGE gap between entry door and the floor all needed to be addressed. Also, the room smelled like smoke - the hotel has a no smoking policy. If your looking for a hotel to just lay your head for the night, this will serve that purpose and only that purpose. It's not spectacular.

"Ehh...it's okay."
Price was okay. No carpet which is nice but the floor in our room definitely had not been mopped. Room was nice, minus the floors. Customer service at front desk was good except for them talking about other guest complaints in front of us. Wifi worked perfectly. Breakfast was...dirty and running low or out of everything, what they did have was cold. Okay area, nothing directly around but nice trails, restaurants and parks within a few mins drive. Pool wasn't open but they didn't say why. Shower pressure was horrible. The room did have a hair dryer, microwave and mini fridge.

"Could easily be better"
The motel has recently been nicely renovated/refreshed to be more modern. However,other parts of the rooms have not been cleaned appropriately since. Cons: Construction dust, covers all surfaces including shower tile walls and tub caulking. Window glass was smudgedand coveref with children handprints. The new vinyl plank floors were sticky and soiled by previous occupants. Typical coffee condiments were not replaced even when requested. Bath mat towel was removed and not replaced and there was not a luggage stand. Also the door was poorly sealed which allowed excessive street and parking lot noise. Pros: The bed was clean and comfortable. Breakfast choices when refreshed were good (real eggs and good link sausage). Large flat screen tv (however remote did not have sleep timer function).

This hotel was a pleasant surprise. Clean, convenient, and an overall great experience. The staff was inviting and friendly. Rooms were renovated, modern, and comfy! Some of the reviews are before renovation so I wouldn't pay too much attention to those. We would definitely stay there again.

"Nice room but too many weeds"
We almost drove past the hotel because of all the weeds out front. But once we found the office and checked in, it was fine. There was lots of trash blowing around the parking lot and there were oil tanks across the street, but that is just the neighborhood. The rooms were nicely remodeled and very clean. Breakfast was pretty good and was included with the room rate.

"Family trip"
Our experience at SureStay Plus Point Richmond Hotel was AMAZING!!! Upon entering the hotel to check in we were greeted by a young lady at the front desk. Her name was Vanessa, she was very nice and helpful to us with everything we needed to know about the area and directions. The rooms were big,clean and the beds were very comfortable. The services provided there were great and the food was delicious. I recommend this hotel the rates are reasonable in that area compared to others. Thank you guys for the great hospitality. "Great Stay"
Been working at the P66 Richmond Terminal for 4 months now and have been staying here since. So far everything has been great. House keeping does a great job and place is kept up on a daily basis. Anything I need I just walk to the office ask, and it always gets taken care of. I met the manager. She's very grateful we chose Sure Stay and let's us know all the time. Breakfast is always good and on time. All staff is managed well and has great customer service. This hotel is located in an industrial area so no problems with theft of people walking around the hotel that shouldn't be there. I would recommend Sure Stay in Richmond for these reasons.

"New management has improved this Hotel"
If you are visiting San Francisco and willing to save lots of money this hotel is affordable. Distance to the Icons of the city are 30 to 40 minutes away. At the beginning we had our concerns about staying at this hotel due to the prior reviews. The new management is truly turning the bad reputation around. 75 percent of the customers are oil field workers that just want to rest. The rooms are clean and the cleaning crew is amazing. They are polite and attentive to the needs of the clients. Front desk is fabulous. The ladies at the front desk are ready to help at all times. The property has been updated with a contemporary taste. The lobby has electric colors, very vibrant and are very eye pleasing. This hotel is gated and a security guard walks the property. I highly recommend this place.

Wow when I pulled up was like I am not staying here then I walk into office and it's beautiful and the front desk staff was so nice and smiling .then I was asking about the rates for Chevron and the manager came out I think her name was Janine and was very helpful and wow breakfast was so good at 6 am but didn't have time to eat cause I had to be at work so I asked to take it with me and front desk staff I think her name was Eva said sure I will be staying here at this hotel for the next week and I'm very happy with my stay and the clean rooms are so nice with big flat screen TV and the beds are awesome thank you surestay plus point Richmond

At first I was a little nervous because of some of the reviews on here, but I am happy to say that I am completely satisfied with my stay, and will definitely be returning. The staff was very helpful at check in and very welcoming! Summer checked me in she was very sweet and had no trouble accommodating to my needs and my Jeannine the manager has an amazing sense of humor. My favorite part had to be the rooms very clean and had usb outlets right next to the bed how convenient!

"Well..."
The property is clearly under a renovation, which was probably much needed based on the past reviews. The rooms are very nice, clean, and comfortable. What we had problems with was the friendliness of the front desk night auditor, wifi working, people talking outside of our room and others yelling across the courtyard for several minutes at 5:15 am for at least 15 minutes (despite having a security guard on duty), thin walls, and the breakfast. The breakfast was one for our worst on record at a hotel. No butter for toast, no fresh fruit of any kind, burnt tasting coffee, no hot water, very poor selection of items. They are renovating and the rooms and outside of the hotel are nice and modern. The price was great for the actual room. Kudos for trying, I am sure it will be a great place sooner than later!

"Worst BW Hotel ever. "
This place is an embarrassment to the chain. We have stayed in over 100 BW's in the last couple years. Never again here for sure. A 100% non smoking hotel that allows dope smoking dirt bags to smoke their weed right outside their room door. Real enjoyable to smell that crap all night long. Our grandkids even asked, what's its that nasty smell? 6" weeds growing thru the expansion joints in the pool area. Mud and un-landscaped areas. I have been totally disgusted. Even called BW and got no satisfaction. Nearly ready to switch to another chain. Really expected better.

"Might be ok"
Non-smoking only applies to inside the rooms. Management allows smoking everywhere else, so you better enjoy secondhand smoke. Cheap rates bring in workers who like to drink and party on the walkway in front of the rooms, so expect plenty of drinking, barbecue smoke, loud music, screaming and yelling. Most of these people have no consideration for others, and management tolerates the behavior. On the plus side, new bedding, towels, etc. Good housekeeping. But noisy environment, so you can wash your sleepless face with a clean towel before going out into the world.

"A nice place"
I recently stayed here. I have to say even though it started sketchy, i was pleased how well the staff got things in order. The room was very pleasing. It was nice having a hot breakfast( wake early its over at 9a). I had a chance to speak with Jeanine Petrow the GM. She exemplified customer service. I will stay again if im in the area. I was told this place went through a renovation. Wow there is no comparison. Rooms are very nice and service was spot on. Free breakfast was a bonus before heading out. The lady manager was also very helpful

"Richmond Trip"
This hotel was a pleasant surprise! The rooms have obviously been updated very recently, the room was way better then any of other SureStays I've been to. The bed and pillows were super comfortable, we slept great. I would definitely recommend this your in the area. It's clean, comfy, and affordable.

"Nice stay!!"
I have stayed at this place before it was a bestwestern and I got today what a change. Everything is new from Tv's to furniture. The rates are reasonable compared to the hotels nearby. Easy access to the highway. Totally had a great sleep on there new beds. Bathrooms are really nice as well!! I will be back again...

"Consturction not renovation"
We got booked here under Hotel .com..arrived late 10:30pm from traveling from Oregon. Theplace was under construction..we were put in second story ..room had no numbers onit, stairway looked like they just finish the cement that morning, room smelled like construction, half of the rooms electricity did not work fan in bathroom handing off the wall, furniture looked like they just brought it in from a swap meet..should not be open to public..no lobby had to talk to a lady thru window like you were at a gas station..system was doen so ould not give me a receipt...we were so tired we slept on top of the covers..no locks on the door. I am trying to get my money back..dangerous place..

If you have no other choice! Walked in there was a band playing in the reception hall that is attached to the front desk so the desk clerk could not hear us when we tried to check in. The rooms were not like the picture online. The rooms were dirty and had a smell to them. Rift raf was walking around most the night and Into to the morning. We had two rooms and in the middle of then night we had someone knocking at our door. The walls are very thin, you can hear the traffic all night, not to mention the train tracks next to the hotel which are used very often. Bring an extension cord if you plan to plug anything in by the bed. The area has nothing to offer. There is a walk up gas station next to the hotel and after that nothing but industrial. They do have security which are armed that walk the hotel at night. Stay away from here if you can.
"overcharged at checkout"
we sere presented with bogus charges at check out, and even though we were promised a refund, they kept most of the overcharges. our stay was prepaid for the entire stay, the office misplaced the paperwork, and charged us directly from our deposit CC. we have been repeatedly told that the person who can authorize a refund is unavailable, or any number of excuses. we were overcharged approx. $240 and refunded $170. absolutely dishonest management.
"Run down and dirty just gross"
The worst motel I ever stay in. Bathroom is very dirty, mattress is dirty, infected with roaches. The motel is located in a ghetto area of Richmond. A lot of noise from other hotel guest, at night you can smell reefer and smoke smell from other room. Just horrible... Got this room from hotwire , it didn't show until I paid and booked the room, thought just for one night it was ok but I was truly terrified. Will never use hotwire mystery room again.
"Great Place to Stay!!"
I booked this for my daughter and her co-workers after I called the hotel and they said they had new management. We were so worried after reading the reviews, but the hotel was GREAT!!! Wi-fi, free coffee and tea in the lobby, microwave and mini-fridge, tons of parking, big clean rooms, they brought them extra towels and blankets, friendly workers, easy check in and check out, plus it was so close to the Crane Pavilion where they were working. They are already planning on booking it next year as all of their other co-workers who booked different hotels couldn't believe how nice it was.
