Best Western Plus Bayside Hotel

The room was spacious, personnel friendly and efficient, breakfast delicious and location on the water lovely.we have stayed there before. There are several homeless in the area but we felt safe and the parking lot is patrolled. We'll be back.

I stay here often for work and evrytime I come the customer service is amazing front desk staff are 5 star but Kayla always makes me feel like my business is valued she is by far an excellent employee also David he is amazing as well and Always so friendly overall great hotel to stay at with really nice bathrooms thanks again kayla.

Great customer service, easy check-in, comfortable and clean room. All amenities were in working condition and shower water was hot. Breakfast is standard BW spread, food was hot and service area clean. Parking was roomy. Plan on coming back for pleasure.

Terrible place don't ever stay here, fair warning everyone who visits Oakland. Been here 2 days, 15 cars broken into, front desk doesn't care or do anything. The lady who works overnights doesn't care about her job. Terrible hotel overall….DO NOT STAY HERE

The staff was friendly and accommodating, room was spacious and clean. Did encounter a few undesirables during the stay, room next door had porn playing loudly on their tv, a couple encounters with people getting on or off the elevator smelling very strong of cannabis.

I am disabled and requested a room with an oversized tub. It was an amazing experience and the front desk clerk was so pleasant. She made sure I had a room for my medical needs and leisure. The rooms with the jetted tub are phenomenal. I hope to get one every single time

Rooms were spacious and clean! The shower had citrus shampoo, conditioner and body wash. They also had a separate bathtub! The breakfast was outstanding! Excellent quality, variety and plentiful! We had a view of the water which was very relaxing! Only thing I would recommend is staying on the view side. The city side is close to the noisy freeway and nothing to look at.

The girl at the desk Tammy I believe was her name excellent customer service. The room was emaciated as well as the view. Had a great nightsleep on my most comfortable bed. I also ate next door at the executive inn the service and the food was delicious Thanks

We've stayed here twice in the past before the pandemic so I felt confident booking this hotel again. The hotel is still nice - very large rooms, very clean, good amenities (Pharmacology!). Great front desk staff. But current times have not been kind - full housekeeping is only after your 3rd night - before that, you only get new towels if you need them, which is fine - that's what most hotels are doing now. There were some minor wear and tear maintenance issues with our room, which was spacious, well appointed and clean. Our mattresses were too soft and squishy for our liking - they felt kind of old. The room comes with a kitchenette area with a coffee maker, refrigerator and microwave. The included breakfast is at the hotel property next door -there was a make your own waffles station, a hot breakfast meat (sausages) and hot, premade omelets which I think were made from powdered eggs. They also offered cold, hard boiled eggs, whole fruit, bagels and muffins - it was OK but we decided to go to a nearby coffee shop (The Buttercup) instead. The main problem with this hotel isn't the hotel itself, but the location. The surrounding area has gone downhill - looking out the window across the nearby freeway is a huge homeless encampment. And there are homeless people near the hotel if you walk around the outside (which we did every morning). The marina side is pleasant to walk around and makes for a nice view from your room. And there was a noticeable police presence…so if you're there with others you should be fine. There appears to be a security guard for the parking lot at night…

The room was clean and roomy. The soak tub was amazing and relaxing. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We had a great view of the bay. The neighborhood was also safe which was our #1 concern being in Oakland

Room and hotel in general were very clean; great room service and friendly, helpful staff; the breakfast was “basic” breakfast (waffles, potatoes, eggs, sausage, fresh fruit, etc) and that is always nice to have!! Our room had a great view - we enjoyed sitting in the balcony in the morning and evenings! It was great being near the trail and so close to Jack London Square; We'll be back next time we are in Oakland!!

I was here for work, which I fly in for several times a year as well as many of my colleagues. We had trouble with a reservation, which was as made by a third-party organization whose phone number was provided by the BW website, and answered the phone as BW bayside. Th manager, David, rudely dismissed our problems as the fault of a third party, telling us we were booked by Expedia, which I have long refused to do business with and I even showed him the reservation email that gave no indication of a company other than BW. But it shouldn't matter because your third party reps are en extension of your business. Not to mention that I tried four times to call the direct phone number to the hotel, which was disconnected. And the conditions of the hotel were abysmal when I got there (lights flickering and not clean—I was locked out at 2:30 am when I arrived and they had to shoo away a homeless person before cautiously letting me in. And they charged me $510 after I had already paid $600 for the reservation (they refunded it and said it was just held for incidentals, which is BS). David the manager is obviously incompetent, remarkably rude, and takes no responsibility for the many failures that occur under his watch. He was rude to both me and the president of my organization. So he just lost all future business from an organization that regularly brings in remote workers. It doesn't matter how “nice” a hotel is when it's this poorly managed.

The location was great, the room was also great the staff was great. The morning staff was very helpful at checking out. The breakfast was good. The breakfast area, the food was all spread out. Other than that the overall was great

Room was fine. Breakfast - good. Location... Well, it's like this hotel has two faces. If you get a room with the estuary view, which we did, it feels amazing. The other side has what they call "city view". "City" is the freeway, graffiti, and homeless encampments on the other side of the freeway. So, keep that in mind. Oh, and be sure not to arrive late - they have fewer parking spaces than rooms.

What a pleasant surprise! This Best Western Plus is only 15 minutes to the Oakland Airport and is in a great location! The staff: David, Front Desk Manager; Kim & Tammy, Front Desk; Gaby, Breakfast Manager, and Mario in Maintenance were absolutely the friendliest and informative of any Best Western I've ever stayed in. It was so nice that I extended my vacation to stay again for 3 extra days! I look forward to my next trip to Northern California and will definitely stay here again.

Good place to stay, but the staff needs to be more accommodating with late check-ins, due flight delays beyond your control. Parking is tight for the $15.00 per day fee, the breakfast needs more variety,

The view outside, only inhanced the view inside, loved the sunken tub for 2 the shower for 2, but the room and adminitves are the best I have experienced so far, I will be back even if it's just me time.

This is a great place to stay with the most friendliest staff around. The amenities and cleanliness of the rooms is exceptional. The restaurant is affordable and always has good vibes. The internet is reliable with good speeds.

At check-in Amber noticed that I was charged for two reservations by a 3rd party vendor. Amber's provided exemplary service without being ask. She canceled the 2nd one without penalty and accommodation made were amazing. Hat off to Amber and AMAZING ASSET TO THE HOTEL. Thanks a million Amber!!!

Waterview rooms are spectacular. Bathtub was more than I expected and very appreciated. Appropriately clean rooms. Multiple of options for breakfast. Loved the coffee machine at breakfast! Instant fresh brewed latte. Reasonable price point. Staff was friendly. Great spot for families.

We stayed at this beautiful hotel in July. We had a room with a balcony overlooking the water and SF in the distance. Room was huge with lots of space. Beds very comfortable and there was plenty of hot water when it came time to take a shower. We'll be back when in the area.

Really nice hotel on the bayside of Embarcadero, we got a balcony view, we enjoyed daily walks alongside the embarcadero trail. My son enjoyed watching the goose during our morning walks. Dinner at restaurant was really good

From guest services, room cleanliness and overall amenities to offer… this best western is the best hotel I've stayed at. I am a vegetarian, therefore finding good breakfast with high protein is rather difficult at hotels, but best western had multiple options. Their location is great too! Right off the freeway and close to restaurants, gyms, etc. Their staff has superb customer service as well! Lariya at the front desk and Apolonia from the kitchen definitely made my stay more memorable. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone who will be visiting the bay area!

The front desk staff were helpful. Hotel very well kept up and rooms were large and clean. Balcony rooms had nice view of the harbor. Toilet in bathroom is separated by a door. Breakfast had waffles you can make along with eggs , potatoes, yogurt, instant oatmeal. Coffee machine available that makes lattes.

The Hotel was great. The room was very clean, lovely view. To be honest, the motel was literally the nicest thing I saw the entire time I was there. The employees were honestly the ONLY friendly people I encountered outside of the business dealings I had.

This hotel was #1 on TripAdvisor for a very, very long time. And deservedly so. And having survived Covid, the economy, and all other negatives of the last 3 years, it still feels like the BEST option when staying in Oakland and the Bay area. Kudos to the ownership team that has kept this place going well - unlike so many other businesses in the Bay area. We stay here, visit family in Alameda and Walnut Creek; attended a wedding on the coast near Tomales. This place is convenient, clean, quiet, and comfortable. It's fairly priced. The staff is still very friendly (thanks KAYLA). The views are still great. The food and beverage options are outstanding - both for breakfast and in the lounge next door for dinner (steak, salmon, shrimp cocktail;) good wine and liquor - and usually good local sports on the TVs. An easy walk along the estuary to Starbucks or continue to Jack London Square and all the local options there. By the way, they offer some of the largest and best guest rooms I have ever stayed in. My choice - water view, second or third floor.

Nice clean rooms. Clean. Amazing staff. Good food with great taste. Rooms clean every night. Good security for all park cars overall an amazing experience. Stay there for 28 nights. Restaurant next-door, which is a sister hotel had amazing food also. Highly recommend good access to the water and the gym.

Always my favorite hotel to stay at in the hole bay area!! Always clean, great staff, big rooms with balconies!!! You should Definitely stay here to do any traveling in the bay area it's centrally located and only 10 minutes from SF!!

I'd been living a nomad life, bopping from hotel to hotel, until I finally landed here. I can't seem to get myself to leave. The service is top-notch. There's hot breakfast every morning, usually bacon and eggs, with some cheese omelets on Sundays. One of my favorite perks is the 24-hour espresso machine in the lobby, though lately it has been down a lot. The bathtubs are spacious, which is essential for my wind-down routine. They have security at night in the parking lot. Despite the ubiquity of "smash and grabs" in this region (my car has been broken into 4 times in other parts of Oakland), I haven't seen a single break-in in this lot in over a year. And the water view! I can see San Francisco from my deck. I honestly can't think of anything negative to say about this hotel. The fact that I'm still here after over a year speaks louder than words.

I was here for work. Spoke with Kevin and Catherine in sales who were extremely helpful and we discussed everything especially billing. I woke up the next morning to my bank's fraud department calling me because the hotel had attempted to take out money for a whole month's stay. It was supposed to be charged weekly. Attempted to discuss this with Jay, front desk manager. He was very condescending and rude in his response. I wrote an email to Kevin, director of sales, who responded really quickly. It seemed like I was having difficulty all week dealing with the charges. I checked out after the 1 week. If they get the billing issue straightened out I would stay again. The bay view was Amazing. The kitchen, restaurant, cleaning and maintenance staff were great. The girls at the front desk and David were very nice. The breakfast was good. The area is not safe to walk around . There is not much in the close distance so you would have to drive wherever you were going.

Room was clean, staff was great! Perfect location for my needs, and waterfront view! I think their breakfast could have been better. It's great if you're on the go but for the price they can do a little better.

This is perhaps the third time we've stayed at the BW Bayside because of it's proximity to friends in Alameda. It's a well maintained older property along the Oakland Estuary, featuring waterfront views from most rooms. The rooms are large, no complaints there. But the limited number and location of electrical outlets in the room reveal the lack of a substantial update since the dawning of the digital age. We found staff to be friendly and helpful. The free breakfast was basic but well done, again with wonderful morning views across the estuary to Alameda. There was sufficient parking with a $15 per night pricetag. And the in-room safe was much appreciated. The adjoining Executive Inn & Suites, a look-alike immediately next door, offers two $25 choices for dinner nightly, steak or salmon. We ended up there two evenings, and these meals were surprisingly good. If you're pressed for time or just don't feel like driving to an area restaurant, this is an option I would recommend. I would give the Bayside 3=1/2 stars, but our four day stay was pleasant, so rounded up, giving the benefit of the doubt. Would I return? Yes, I think so. There isn't much of a downside.

This hotel is conveniently located right off Highway 80 -- but every room is super quiet as they all open out to the other side, with balconies and patios facing to the peaceful quiet of the bay water flowing around Alameda island. The hotel lobby is super attractive and large, and looking out to the water. The rooms are beautifully designed with attractive art, super comfortable beds, spacious rooms and the best views of the Alameda marina, the lovely lights of the naval base (pretty white lights at night!), the San Francisco skyline and Jack London square. It's truly a luxurious experience at the Best Western Plus Bayside Hotel!

We got automatically upgraded, and that was great! All staff were friendly and helpful. The bathroom was amazing thanks to the tub, cleanliness was mostly good. My gripe is the bed - scratchy and hard

Even before we began our experience at the hotel, the Hotel Manager, Jay reached out to us to assure we were informed we were given a complimentary upgrade to a suite and he also threw in a bottle of wine, a two dinner vouchers, my Husband and I were impressed, and the gesture made us feel special. The experience continued to elevate as we arrived, the Guest Services team on duty was warm, friendly, and approachable. They even cracked a few jokes which made our registration experience unique and memorable, again they confirmed their boss, Jay made arrangements in advance to make our stay extra special . This just conveys the team's level of communication and their commitment to their customers. It did not stop there, the room that we were assigned had an idyllic view of the water and we could even see San Francisco in the distance. We popped our bottle of wine, sat down on the private balcony, and enjoyed the beautiful view and then enjoyed dinner at the the more dated property next door, the food was great. After we departed, we realized we left behind some items, and I called the hotel to report them. Again, we were pleasantly surprised by warm friendly service, and we finally got to speak directly to the Hotel Manager, Jay and we got to thank him for his diligence and for making our anniversary feel special. He quickly located the items called and messaged us to confirm and even offered us the option to hold or ship the item out. Look no further fellow travelers, I created a profile on this platform to assure credit was given to a hospitality professional and his devoted team. Rest assured; you will be well cared for by Jay and his dedicated team at this gem of a hotel.

Wouldnt let me book the room online so I called the hotel. Was answered by a professional woman. Helped me reserve the room with ease. Text me the morning of checking in to confirm everything over via text. Amazing communication from the staff and it was such a quite relaxing place to stay. Waterfront view is worth all the money as well. As the balcony was a really relaxing place to wake up to with san frans amazing weather.

Anahi at the hotel was beyond 5 stars. She helped my mother and I am grateful. I am leaving only one star because I stayed the last night with her and parked my car at the hotel. Overnight, someone stole my catalytic converter. They sawed it right off. The parking needs better security. I am told this is VERY common in Oakland. Beware! I'm out over $1000 for this theft.

Hotel is clean quiet and clean everything is good beautiful, wonderful, clean and Jay is incredibly welcoming. I love to stay here all the time and recommend the hotel to fellow travelers all the time.

Had a hreat time at the ,Best Western Suites. The staff was so friendly an on point, specifically the front desk, an room attendants . We can't wait to visit with you guys soon!, the water side rooms are very large an some rooms have spa tubs with the jets, just relaxing your body, while the water relaxes your mind!.

I have been staying at this location since I first started visiting the Bay area about a year ago. I feel in love with the location right on the water a few minutes walk from Starbucks and other venues, Such a romantic locale. Comfortable, luxuriously so. The staff are always helpful and take care all my needs and check on my comfort every single day! The breakfasts always include fresh fruits, eggs and you can make your own waffles, I love the coffee it always tends to add that extra point to my stay! Above all I feel like I'm coming home to family when i return here and I will be return for a long time simply because I feel welcomed here.

I've earned Diamond Level with Best Western, most of it at this property. We come down from Oregon to visiit both families in the bay area. This hotel is convenient - right off the freeway yet quiet in the waterview rooms. The staff is always friendly, the rooms, especially the double queens are HUGE. Love the bathroom set-up. The breakfast team is always good, and the choices are excellent. They've added fresh bagels; cottage cheese; more drinks, and the coffee machine that makes espresso drinks on demand is a find!! The waterview is excellent (you face Coast Guard Island and see SF in the bay. The land side does face the freeway and the BART tracks - so book a waterside room. The area has been cleaned up considerably in the last year (thanks - city of Oakland) AND the hotel has excellent overnight security in the parking lot. We'll be baaack!

I had business and pleasure in San Francisco. Oakland was a central location. I rolled up to discover free Destination Charging for the Tesla which was a nice surprise. The hotel was clean and I was able to score a corner room which gave me great views. There is a paved walk along the water front and I borrowed a garbage bag to pick up some litter along the shore. (I'm easily entertained.) I would definitely return to this location.

We had a great experience staying here! The rooms are large and clean, the staff is really friendly and the morning breakfast was great! The location isn't in the best part of town but during our stay we never felt unsafe.

This was the first stop over on our 3 week road trip of the West Coast and we stayed for 2 nights. The first thing we discovered was that having taken the BART to Oakland from the airport, that the bus didn't go past the hotel. If walking from the nearest bus stop which is 5-10 minutes away, the area can seem a little concerning. My advice either drive to the hotel or get a taxi. However, once you cross the freeway onto Embarcadero it is an area rich with tourism development and investment. I can't speak highly enough of the staff who were very firendly and welcoming. We were travelling with 3 teenagers and had a large room with 2 Queen beds and a sofa bed. Breakfast was fabulous! At night we took an Uber back from the Fisherman's Wharf area and given there were 5 of us - this was actually the cheaper option. Would use again.

our entire team and families booked for 8 nights nights to come play baseball in Oakland. They closed down the lounge area and players had to be fed in the lobby, claiming there were many reports of noise. This was done through a sign and not a phone call from any manager. There was also a sign to pick up our trash, however, the common area was always cleaned after each use. There was a drug/prostitution ring broken up a day before, placing our kids in eminent danger. They knew we had an entire little league team staying here, and they were very welcoming when we booked @ $230 dollars a night. On Saturday night, we had a new night clerk that was less than accommodating and seemed like our presence bothered him. He call security on the team a couple of times. Even though the rooms are very clean and breakfast is very good, the clerks are lacking customer service and people skills. Again, we had to feed our boys in the lobby, after all chairs in the common area were put away. I will never stay here again, nor do I recommend omit for large groups. Welcome to Oakland!

I stayed here for the first time a few days ago. There are few hotels that exceed expectations and this is one of them. The rooms are unbelievable, the views of the bay from the rear are spectacular and the location is great. Their breakfast is very nice and the area is very well set up. The girl that handles the breakfast is very friendly and efficient. Since then I've been back twice and had the same experience each time. From now on, this will be my first choice in Oakland.

I recently stayed at this hotel for my work. My work had me staying longer then my room was booked for so I went to the front desk to advise of my extension and that I would be making a new reservation. I then received this rude text from the hotel, “Good morning X, we are reaching out from BW Plus Bayside Hotel to confirm we accommodated you for an extension until Monday per your request. However, this will be a one time exception as we had to displace guests who had confirmed reservations in the same room class. In the future, please be prepared to vacate a room to move if necessary when requesting a last minute extension as CLC Lodging only pays for best room available. Having your things scattered through the the room is not a valid excuse to not vacate our room in a timely manner. Please don't let this happen again. We are a busy property and are accommodating CLC Lodging clientele as an exception for a short term only. Our aim to assure our guests are not impacted and have the best experience possible but this requires cooperation and we would appreciate yours moving forward. Lastly, I will need you to call CLC Lodging to request for your extension to be authorized. Thank you for your support. What an incredible and peaceful place to stay. We got off an angry grid-locked freeway and rolled right into the parking lot. We checked in and got a water view room with a balcony. Immediately all of our stress melted away and all was ok after that. We sat and enjoyed the peaceful bay view with the Coast Guard Island on the other side. Ducks paddle by, geese hang around on the lawn. We didn't imagine this could be possible right next to a busy freeway. And everyone on staff was incredibly kind and helpful, from Anahi at the front to the housekeepers. AAAAAA++++++

My wife and I stayed at the best Western and we enjoyed every minute of it rooms were very clean establishment was up-to-date with their decor the staff was very informative and friendly staff went out of their way to cater to our needs I highly recommend this place and I would definitely stay here again

Front desk was polite and helpful. The bathroom was amazing and size of the king suite was great. Breakfast was good however not enough seating for everyone. Also, the pool and bar/restaurant is at the hotel next door but it was nice service as well.

I am a Best Western Rewards member, and our stay at the Bayside Hotel in Oakland is one of the many reasons why. My brother drove my sister and I down from Eureka, CA, to catch our plane in Oakland; I booked a night at the Bayside as it was close to the airport and my sister and I were flying out early. Because my brother has a service dog, I asked for a first-floor room, near an exit door, so as not to inconvenience other guests (since they don't normally accept pets). WOW!! We ended up with a king-size bed, bay view, and a patio door that opened out directly to the greenspace just in back of the hotel!! It was a MARVELOUS room, very spacious and plenty of room for the three of us to spread out and relax before my sister and I had to go to the airport. My brother said the complimentary breakfast the next morning was yummy, and the wi-fi access (so necessary for his business) was fast and easy. He even used the in-house gym room! Many, MANY thanks to Jay and Faye at the front desk: Jay, for answering my questions about service animals, and for giving us tips on where to pick up a quick dinner before the airport; Faye, for checking us in and being so sweet about accommodating my brother's service dog. There are so many options for lodging on the road, and what keeps us coming back to Best Western are the quality of the rooms, the amenities offered, and--most of all, and most important--the FABULOUS people who staff the hotels. Everyone, from reservations to check-out, is committed to our having a marvelous stay, and because of their efforts, we have a great time! Thank you all so much!!

Very easy to get to although the closed off an entrance/exit. I asked for a later checkout of noon & was denied. They said that they a peak occupancy and a later check out was not possible. Although a later check out is available for additional charge.

This is a no-frills hotel that has an exceptional staff and is maintained beautifully. Clearly, those who work here take great pride and it shows. However, travelers should know-it is next to a freeway and there is almost nothing around it within walking distance. The pictures are deceptive-it backs onto an estuary of the bay that is garbage laden and has little to recommend it. The strongest feature of this hotel is the truly great staff who make your stay very comfortable. If location does not matter, this hotel is a terrific value.

I really liked this hotel! The views were amazing. There was a bathtub and shower in the room that the kids enjoyed. We got to see the lake from the room and dinning hall. The food was not the best and it will do until you get to your breakfast destination. They have a latte machine that will make any kind of drinks you would like! Theor gym is open and we'll equipped as well. My only complaints are that they require you to pay for parking. It is $15 a night and you basically have to pay it because there is nowhere else yo park. My keys stopped working at 11pm. We really enjoyed this hotel ans if we are ever in the are would stay again!

The hotel was comfortable enough, bathroom tub and shower were very nice, but none of that made up for the fact that there was a cockroach crawling around in our room. Huge turn off. I'd probably not stay here again when there are other options close by.

We have stayed here over 60 nights in the last 5 years, and we are always made to feel special and welcome. The rooms are enormous, the staff is kind and caring, the location is convenient and great. And having the "lounge" available next door at the Executive Inn adds to the convenience of dinner and a drink after a long day of travel.

Had a great little getaway for one night, we celebrated our daughter's second birthday at the Oakland Zoo and this hotel was perfect to come back and relax! Staff was amazing, room was clean and very spacious, I loved the over sized tub!

Food was decent considering we're in the Covid era . I would come back it was a nice and clean hotel over all. Quite and out of the way of all of the city noise. Tub was very nice and relaxing . You also get a great view of alameda from you balcony

So happy to have found this hotel. The staff is amazing. The entire hotel is super clean. We had a beautiful view of the bay. We enjoyed sitting on our balcony and watching the sun go down. Beautiful sunsets with the city and the harbor views over the water. We love watching the sailboats glide by our hotel room balcony. The swimming pool and jacuzzi overlook the bay. There is a restaurant/bar on site. Great breakfast. Everything was perfect!

Just need a change of scenery, get the heck out of stockton & wanted to take the kids back to check out our old house & school in Alameda. As always, very clean place, nice view. Always good customer service as well!

Clean and modern property with spacious rooms with lovely water views. Located near water, quiet and quaint-perfect for taking a nature walk anytime-day or night! Timica, Front Desk Agent was very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Definitely will come back!

We had two large, clean, pleasant king rooms on the top floor with a view of the water. There was a nice little loveseat and a large bath in each room. The staff was super nice and helpful. Breakfast next door was minimal but fine for us, and the coffee was good.

I rolled into town after 14 hours of driving through snow and muck - eww- and miss Timica was kind, helpful and made sure to get me exactly what I needed in under five minutes. Now, I get to overlook the beautiful bay while I drink my coffee and get ready for the day. LARGE tub, king sized bed, comfy room and more. Love love it.

Good service, good attitude and service of front desk person, offered an ocean view rather then freeway as an extra upgrade without further charge.. I stayed 1 night and went to my designated hotel in the area and checked out next day and returned back to this hotel for 6 additional days because it is not run down and kept in good condition.

One of a number of hotels on Embarcadero Road that face Alameda Island in Oakland, Ca. We chose this hotel based on prior reviews and stayed three nights over the Thanksgiving weekend. The east side of the property faces the ample parking lot and ever-busy and noisy 880 freeway. Our large room faced west with a view of the channel and Alameda Island. There is a public asphalt broadwalk on the west side of the property where we noted early-morning walkers/joggers. The amenities in the room were standard with a comfy king-size bed and large bathroom with a private toilet. The Wi-Fi services worked well and the many cable TV channels was a plus. The room was not serviced for the weekend and no meals/room service was available at the time of this review. There is a coffee machine coffee in the lobby and a brown-bag to go breakfast is offered at the front desk. A more substantial breakfast is provided at the next door Executive Inn and comes included in the room rate. Overall, good value for money if all you need is a place to rest up after visiting family or local attractions or sporting events.

After driving straight from San Diego to Oakland, I just wanted to get into my room, shower, and change. I had called ahead of time and spoke with Russel John, who walked me through the check in process and could not have been nicer on the phone. He was not there when I arrived, but I was greeted by Jay, who got me checked in and settled in no time flat. These two were friendly without being patronizing-you know what I mean-they seem to genuinely care about their guests experiences.

We've used this hotel over the years - both for ourselves, and for visiting family members. We ask for double queen beds, with a water view. (And the water view is definitely worth the upgrade - you get the quieter water side, AND a balcony to sit out on and enjoy the view and all the water activity. ) I enjoy the Coast Guard music (taped - Reveille or Star Spangled Banner, Colors) as they raise and lower the flag each day on the base. And as a birdwatcher I enjoy the opportunity to see the winter water birds and others (pelicans, ducks, grebes, warblers, hummingbirds, and more). Take advantage of the walkway along the water. You can walk north to the Starbucks, or get your exercise and walk the 1.2 miles to Jack London Square and explore there. (Hint, why pay for Starbucks when the Best Western has a great free coffee machine in the lobby? Makes a good double flat white that just fits it the cup). Speaking of water, we noticed little boats out on the estuary - and noticed they kept reappearing. Turns out you can rent them (for up to 10 people) and be your own captain and crew. Looks like a great way to see the Oakland waterfront (no, we didn't actually get to try them...just saying. Bay Area Electric Boats). Back to the hotel and the enormous room!! One of, if not the largest we have ever stayed in. Tons of space, clean, with refrigerator and microwave, little hospitality/bar area. Love the size and design of the bathroom. Hint for those who have trouble finding the light for the bathroom - leave just the light on in the water closet as a night light and you'll have no trouble if you need to get up in the dark. Breakfast is a grab and go bag in the lobby - BUT you can also get much more at no additional charge at their sister hotel, the Executive Inn & Suites right next door. And you should get over to the Executive Inn at night - for a drink and the grilled steak or salmon dinner. Jorge is a very friendly and nice guy. I can vouch that after driving thru Bay area traffic on a Friday, the lounge is a great place to relax (as did several others in the bar). The neighborhood to the south on Embarcadero appears much improved over previous visits. Apparently the city has moved out the vans, campers, and broken down cars that were a sad sight, and put in concrete barriers to prevent people from parking there again. We saw lots of efforts by people to add nice artwork to the barriers. Great improvement, and Quinn's Lighthouse must be thrilled. We really like this place (and the Executive Inn and Suites next door), and strongly recommend them. I think Best Western Plus is a great hotel and value for the price, and this place exemplifies this.

The room was spacious and had a nice tub we didn't use though. The toilet is in its own room which made it hard to get to in the dark at night. Had to walk next door for breakfast and everything there might as well have been grab and go too because there was just breakfast sandwiches and yogurt, things that could be grabbed and taken to go. The bag from the actual hotel site was a piece of fruit and a muffin. There were non guests just hanging out outside the lobby smoking and there didn't seem to be security patrolling the lot which made us concerned about the car safety at night, especially since the only document the hotel sends out before is about how they aren't liable for car theft. We could see our car from our room though. The beds seem older but were still comfortable so long as you like a firm bed. The fan worked but wall thermostat was broken.

The Front Desk Manager, Jay and his staff are fantastic. They may need to offer training to other hotels - great customer service. The property was beautiful and clean. Definitely plan on staying here again.

What can I say. This place has great rooms at great rates. Very clean and safe. Can't beat the relaxing waterfront location in the East Bay. Akia at front desk helped to put me in the perfect room for my price range. Will keep coming back for business or pleasure. Sister hotel next door serves best steak and salmon dinners in East Bay. Jorge is one of the best and friendliest bartenders in the East Bay. So… if you need a place to stay in the East Bay… nuf said.

As a frequent traveler, I have never experienced such terrible customer service at check in. The night supervisor was rude and disrespectful. Incredibly disappointed. So thankful for the kind assistance of the daytime staff during check out but will never stay at this location in the future.

It was wonderful to be next to the bay and watch the sculling teams row past. There is a nice trail by the water. The parking lot was spacious and included 2 charging stations for EV's. The corner room was spacious with a water view. The brown bag breakfast was forgettable thanks to Covid. The lobby was spacious and the staff was top notch.

Room was outstanding, very clean, and the view of the bay was fantastic. The location is ideal to visit many work locations around the Bay Area. The Nescafe cappuccino machine in the lobby is excellent when I get up at 4:30 AM to prep for morning meetings. All that said, it is the staff that make this an easy choice as they are extremely friendly and accommodating (Russell at the Front Desk was especially helpful). I plan to continue to stay here when visiting the Bay Area.

Thoroughly enjoyed our 1 night stay! The hotel is easily accessible right off of the 880 in Oakland, on the water and super clean Our room was clean and spacious, and the bed was quite comfortable. We had a room with a balcony facing the water and it was most relaxing. Definitely recommend and would love to stay here again if we're ever in the area. Oh, and the staff was friendly!

I like to stay at Best Westerns. My recent stay at the Best Western Plus Bayside Hotel was the most enjoyable I can recall of all the locations. The desk staff was the most pleasant I have encountered at Best Western. They always greeted me as I left for the day and when I returned. When I had a tire problem, they steered me to the perfect place for repair. When I wanted to go out to dinner, they recommended, again, the perfect place. I very much enjoyed my stay and was actually sorry to have to leave.

Everything is worth it for the beautiful calm water view. Just 15 min away from the busy hustle bustle SF, Oakland Bayside is nice calm and beautiful. Large rooms, plenty of amenities and friendly staff. Will be returning again with family.

This is hands down the worst hotel that I've been too. Here is the list of things that weren't properly operational upon check in: Toilet bowl didn't flush, Sink was leaking, WiFi was down, Remote control of the tv had to be fixed, boarding passes couldn't be printed at business center, door of the laundry room stuck. Had requested and was assured earlier a bay view and got instead a view of the rundown buildings across the street . This is a very unsafe area. Would not recommend for families.

When we arrived at the hotel we had previously booked in Berkeley on a busy Friday evening, we did not like the place. My wife immediately checked around and we were able to get in at the Bayside Best Western. We were greeted by a very friendly and helpful staff, were given a room upgrade with a view of the East Bay and settled in our room. Throughout the three nights, we were very comfortable and enjoyed all the amenities of the room, especially the roomy bathtub that allowed this full-grown adult male to enjoy complete body submersion, something I've only experienced in a luxury hotel in the past. We will be returning to this hotel every time we visit family in Oakland CA.

Our stay was wonderful. Catherine our evening Front desk receptionist was particularly knowledgeable and helpful throughout our stay. This will always be our first choice when we come to the Bay Area.

Hotel is relaxing and quiet. Hotel next building they have a bar and the food is reallly good especially the steak.I do recommend this to every body..I want to thank also Catherine at the frontdesk for helping us always and my friend.I will visit here again and stay in this hotel.

Second floor room was spacious and located close to the small gym that was perfect for my needs. The grounds are well kept and having Canadian Geese as company on the waterfront was great! The breakfast was included. It was basic and it was convenient that they allow one to take whatever with us for later. The staff was always very helpful and resolved the few problems that surfaced. We really enjoyed the small pool almost every day. It's heated so it's easy to take a dip in the pool. The jacuzzi was nice and not too hot. The hotel is conveniently right by the highway. There are many eateries near by. This was highly recommended by family who live in the area and they were correct.

This hotel is really quiet especially if you stay on the water side...the breakfast are still on the to go box hopefully they will bring it here on the lobby..the staff especially Catherine went on beyond on her customer service...thank you for being patient and always helping us on our inquiries...Thank you and I do enjoyed my stay here!

I come to this hotel about once a month. I feel like family here. Martha M is fabulous. She remembers room preferences, she keeps necessary items behinds the desk for convenience and always has. Smile. It's the only place to stay in The Bay… mostly because of Martha M!!!

I give it five stars for a huge room, great view of the SF over the Bay, a perfect location, amazing cleanliness, and a really great stuff. Enrique and Cathryn were so helpful with my active 4 year old and since he's not yet vaccinated it made me feel really good to be around such a clean place. It's so close to the airport and Brooklyn Basis. Will come back again for sure.

staying in the hotel is like you staying at your home very convenient and relaxing..the atmosphere and ambient is great and amazing..the rooms are big spacious, and very clean feels like Covid Free. the bed is very comfortable to sleep in.The foods they serve are delicious and healthy.They also have unlimited coffee on the lobby. This is a very nice property with exceptionally large rooms. Doing a decent job of returning some amenities that have been lost to this "pandemic". This hotel does not tell you that there is a 15.00 per night per vehicle parking charge until after the deadline for cancelling your reservation without a charge. This property is located next to other hotels and there is no reason to park here UNLESS you are a guest! There is no shuttle service and nothing else is within walking distance so you have to arrive by car. This charge is not known until after you have been notified that you can check in OR when you are actually at the desk. By then, it is too late to look elsewhere. Pretty shady business practice!

I had a tiring, long flight to join my ship in the port of Oakland but before that I had a chance to stay in this wonderful and cozy hotel. The room was big and comfortable, quiet and relaxing especially the balcony which had a view of Oakland's waterway. I had the pleasure of staying at this Best Western and was delighted when my room was upgraded to the king suite for free. The room was very clean, and the balcony overlooks the bay. Will definitely be returning!

I was surprised by how large and comfortable the rooms were. It is on the lake, so a lakeside room would have been nice (the other side faces the highway) The bathrooms are great with a large tub and modern shower.

Staff is always willing to go the extra mile, the rooms are gorgeous and well kept, and the view is amazing! Treating every human equal and the staff really care about it quests. lovely place to relax. great, if not over protecting security. The breakfast is do die for and the bed is a little slice of heaven.

From my initial contact with Akia to my check-in with Diego, things could not have been more perfect! This is our second stay here, this night was our anniversary, last time was my fiancé's birthday. I know it may seem a tad strange to spend our anniversary in Oakland , but it's a special place to us and the service can not be beat! The water view from the balcony is just the cherry on top. The big bathtub and senate glass shower are also nice. The ONLY less than stellar part of our stay was an employee named Bexy. I've honestly never encountered a curt employee at BWB until her and was shocked. Not only does she not greet customers or return greetings, plus she's the only person who made me feel like I was a bother for asking for help with something. I don't let my experience with her cloud my impression of this hotel, though. Everything and everyone else makes up for her!

This welcoming Best Western Plus property not only has a phenomenal staff with such attention to detail, but exudes the safety and comfort of a Covid clean friendly hotel which is hard to find, especially when traveling with children. We felt cared for, safe and comforted the entire stay and constantly checked on by the staff to make sure any concerns were addressed immediately. We didnt have any : ) It is a beautiful location so accessible to all freeways right in Oakland, sparkling clean rooms, and an unforgettable staff which results in us wanting to return again this coming May! Thanks to all the awesome staff there!!! We can't wait to return.

With limited time, I wanted to plan a surprise, but superb honeymoon for my Dear Fiance & I. I had went on line and checked out several local hotels in the Embarcadero area and decided on this location, but I wanted to view the inside of the hotel in person. "Heaven Sent staff member Catherine," assisted me with the registration process. I unfortunately have mobility issues and challenges, and even though my best friend accompanied me...Catherine went over and above, to take care of everything! She rendered and gave us "stellar, awesome and excellent customer service!!" We truly truly appreciated all that she did! Catherine is an obvious asset to Best Western and I sincerely feel that she deserves and earned a raise$ and or a promotion!! :) The hotel was vey very nice, both interior and the exterior, especially along the walking path and the breath taking views of the Embarcadero Cove, in the rear and back of the hotel. That was a extra plus and was exactly what I was looking for. Because of all of the above... I booked a 4 night stay, at this Bayside location, for my honey moon celebration.

We absolutely loved our stay at Best Western Plus Bayside Hotel! My wife & I, had just got married earlier that day and my loving wife, "Surprised Me," with our 4 day honeymoon stay there and everything was outstanding, to say the least! The staff members Brenda, Bryan were very very helpful, and gave us excellent customer service! My wife said that staff member Catherine, was heaven sent, in assisting her prior, with the registration. I thank you all so very much! Our 3rd floor room was very nice and roomy. The view of the embarcadero cove was tremendous and the hotel was very clean. My only small issue, was the fact that the TV was a bit small, for that nice king size bed room. Even with the COVID-19 restrictions and limits to a few of the hotel's areas, everything was perfect!! We highly recommend staying there and we will truly be back.

I and my coworkers travel quit extensively. So its always nice to find a place that goes over and above to make you feel right at home and comfortable . the staff here are amazing and i know that we will be returning here in the future.

This is truly a lovely hotel for the Bay Area/Oakland. To have a room facing the lagoon is wonderful. Listening to the birds and having the peaceful water is such a treat. We live in a city that's noisy from traffic and partygoers. And some of Oakland is not very good. But this place is so sweet. It was our second stay. And OMG the bathtub was heavily. Big and deep. Loved just soaking. Heard very little noise from neighboring rooms. Everywhere was clean. We go to Oakland a few times a year. We will be staying here again

Wonderful staff and great location in the East Bay, Convenient to everything. When COVID isn't around the restaurant has an awesome surf and turf offering and the team running the restaurant is amazing. Hotel staff very welcoming and conscientious. A wonderful stay.

I have stayed here a few times now and absolutely recommend this BW to anyone looking for a really nice and affordable place to stay. The common areas and rooms are super clean, the water view is lovely, and there are options for huge bathtubs! So relaxing! They always provide breakfast and there is ample parking. Catherine at the front desk couldn't be more professional, kind, and attentive. She genuinely made my stay that much better! Thank you Catherine! Please consider this BW when traveling or for a weekend getaway! Conveniently right off the 880 freeway and just a few minutes to the Bay Bridge and San Francisco.

Check in and check out was quick and easy! I loved being able to pre check in to make it easier and faster checking in once I actually get there in person! This is so far the best, Best Western. We stayed in a double queen rm, very spacious- good esp when you have kids with you. Take the water view - seeing the ducks and the rowers come by every morning is beautiful to watch. The staff are very accomodating , very helpful especially CATHERINE at the front desk, who was very helpful . We have to extend our stay- so she made the process fast and efficient and instructions were clearly given. Thank you!!! Housekeepers are very friendly, worked hard to clean and to sanitized rooms!

Nice hotel, water side rooms are a nice treat. Hate when they charge for parking and don't make it obvious when you book. The Parking is not underground or covered or secure in any way. Just a hidden fee when you check in.

Welcomed by friendly guest services, the room was clean had a quality seal upon entry all good except mattress not good condition. Felt springs during sleep interrupted my sleep frequently to adjust pressure of springs.

Going into any hotel these days sends me into a spiral of worry. Living through Covid -19 as we watch the world spin a horrible horror flick the thought of having to stay at a hotel scares the crap out of me. When I had to travel last week and needed a hotel room decided BW. The arrival was quiet warming and the staff was kind and considerate. Taking the time to answer questions and send up fresh towels when needed as hotels only clean rooms every 3rd day. That was fine with me as long as I could request towels when needed. The breakfast set up was quiet enjoyable as well, giving you a nice selection to take to your room or sit outside and enjoy. Thank you, BW for easing my fears and worries as you have changed my mind about the chain and would recommend this hotel quiet often. Big addition was the beautiful water outside the window and sitting on the balcony when I could. Very pleasant stay and staff!

My 1st got there to reserve a Room, I was created with friendliness. There was someone else trying to make things happen but their Room. The customer service person went through every aspect I could to try to make it happen. Well guess what? It happened! While the other individual had to take care of some business on the phone, he customer service rep helped me out. It was quick and easy!

I stayed on the third floor which had an amazing view of the ocean and embarcadero dock. Clean room & lobby. Along with complimentary breakfast in the morning! Also the front desk lady, Bexy made sure I was taken care of my whole trip. Such a kind & caring associate!

A last minute reservation needed due to firestorm displacement. Perfect location on Embarcadero. Excellent service provided by staff from check-in to check-out. Large spacious room and bathroom. Good breakfast options and hotel amenities. Discounted room rate made up for the parking fee. Looking forward to another visit.

We chose this hotel based on Trip Advisor reviews and its proximity to family we were visiting. It's surprising it ranks #1 in Oakland, but overall it's very good. Pros: spacious and clean room, comfortable bed, quiet on third floor facing water, professional and courteous front desk staff, satisfactory breakfast at adjoining hotel under same ownership with outdoor tables adjacent to estuary Cons: lingering smell of smoke in non-smoking room, well worn upholstery on furniture, loose shower control made it difficult to adjust temperature, no available parking spaces at 10PM Saturday night even though we paid $15/night for parking at check-in, Reveille (bugle call) broadcast at high volume at 8 AM from speakers on Coast Guard Island directly across estuary from hotel. In spite of the early wake-up call, we would stay here again, primarily because of the good service from front desk staff. The gentleman who checked us out refunded our parking charge because he remembered us from Saturday night when we had to wait for a car to leave in order to get a parking space.

I've recently stayed a at the best western a few times now and every time continues to get better from the first stay till the most recent I've encountered nothing but truly some of the best and most genuine customer service from Enrique that I've ever had at any hotel I've stayed in the past. I wish there was an Enrique at every hotel I stay at. He's usually posted at the sister property next door, but I found him filling in at Best Western. Having him at the front desk simply made my reservation, check-in, and stay so much easier. Reserving the room was quick and easy. I called the hotel directly to book. The rate was very competitive and cheaper than most (maybe all) third-party sites. Check-in was effortless. The stay was restful. I booked a larger room and it was definitely worth it. Between the two sister properties, the Best Western is the nicer of the two, which makes it the best on avenue. If you considered the area for a stay and you were a little spooked at the Motel 6, you must look at the Best Western. It is, by nearly every measure, a better property, and it starts with the management and the people who work at Best Western. The rooms deserve proper mention. They are spacious. The windows and balcony are longer than the ones on the other properties, which really adds to the upscale feel of the room. If you liked the rooms at the Executive Inn, you will see nice upgrades in furnishing, bedding, and amenities. It is worth the splurge. High school friends (that you still like) visiting from out of town: book rooms at Executive Inn. Future in-laws you want to impress: book rooms at Best Western. It will be nice to see the property working at full-steam when this coronavirus thing passes. The room, by the way, was immaculately clean. The breakfast option was a prudent cost-saving compromise: bagged breakfast (think school field trip lunch) or take your breakfast pass to the Executive Inn for the light continental. Opt for the latter. The light continental breakfast, there, is an excellent effort. It is completely understandable that they would have just the one kitchen running during these times. All in all, a great, rejuvenating stay.

This location was amazing! From the minute I walked in Enrique was fantastic that guy needs a raise!! Ive worked in the hospitality business for over 12 years, great customer service is hard to come by these days. We were greeted with a warm welcoming smile! He recognized me from a previous stay which was very impressive since I have stayed at the location next to this location numerous times and haven't had anyone recognize me. The Rooms are amazing and spacious and very clean! The balcony is amazing and very quiet and peaceful! I recommend this location to any family or friends who fly in to visit!

Our room was facing the water, great view. We also like the little balcony, the hot tub and how the shower separate from the hot tub..we live the room it was perfect for our date night get away..thank you.

I was having a very difficult and stressful trip due to several flight changes/cancelation. When booking my room here I mentioned it to Victor one of the managers. He and the entire staff were so friendly and made my stay super comfortable. Victor wrote a really kind note to me and also left some complimentary snacks and a couple beers in the room (I had mentioned that I was traveling for roughly 17 hours and had not had a chance to eat). The room was spotless and I felt safe staying there amidst the virus outbreak. I had a great nights sleep as well. 10/10 would recommend this hotel.

I am from Orange county and I had to travel to Oakland for my Fathers funeral. A close relative of mine highly recommended this Hotel. My room was nothing short of amazing. The room was spotless and had everything I needed not just for my business and planning needs, but for my need to relax. Internet, full desk, large patio with a full view of the lake. Also, where they went above and beyond was they still were thoughtful enough to have a complementary breakfast to take back to our room. Rene was absolutely amazing, looks sharp, dresses very professional, extremely knowledgeable, answered all my questions. Well spoken and very polite. Nothing got by Rene, he was aware of his surroundings and greeted everyone. Another thing was 'SAFETY' not just anyone was allowed to walk in the Hotel lobby. You had to swipe your card to get in. Had to cancel my booking due to the corona crisis. Booking.com was so friendly as to provide this cancellation for us, whithout any charge. This was done about a month ago. Yet today I learn, that the hotel charged me anyway, even with with a confirmation of the cancellation. So a painstaking journey awaits me to get my money back. When I do travel to the US of A, I will be shure not to book here again.

Gorgeous, clean, and well kept private and public areas. Hotel staff was very friendly. I took full advantage of their shuttle service - 6 rides in 24 hours - and enjoyed every interaction with each staff member I spoke with. They went out of their way to accommodate me and provided a wonderful stay!

I experience no problems when checking in and during my stay. The staff was very courteous, friendly and always on top of their game. My room was always cleaned or at least they let you know they stopped by if your do not disturb sign was on your door. Rene, the evening clerk, was always pleasant, courteous and willing to help in any way he could. I highly recommend this hotel.

The hotel itself was nice and the staff accommodating, however the location was ghetto. There was graffeti across the street from the hotel and the bayview was industrial, also trash lined the walking path next to the bay. I wasn't impressed and was anxious to leave the location.

Our room was very spacious and comfortable with no problems at all. Everyone at the front desk was also very helpful and friendly. When we made plans to go out at night in downtown Oakland, we were driven by Enrique and he was super nice and fun to chat with!

My recent stay at the Best Western Plus in Oakland was by far my best stay anywhere I've ever traveled. I was most impressed with the two front desk agents that worked Friday evening when we arrived and Saturday. They were most helpful in anything I asked of them I was very impressed with their professionalism. The suite we stayed in was very clean and the most Spacious I've ever stayed in.

The room was very spacious and comfortable, and the bathroom was too. The view from our room was also lovely. The hotel was peaceful. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The free shuttle was a great service for getting to and from the BART station. I only have a couple of minor niggles. There was no bedside table on my side of the bed which meant I had to keep moving the desk chair there instead. And despite me hanging up our towels, they were still replaced every day which went against the hotel policy to reduce the number of towels being cleaned.

First thing you have to know is that you need a car if you are staying in this hotel. But if you have it is a very good option Breakfast; very complete and good Room; great size and well equipped View: choose water view or you will have view to the highway and some homeless camp across it (still looks a safe area) Staff was nice To get to SF downtown be aware that you have to cross a bridge which at rush hour can take about 45 minutes. Nespresso Coffee service is free at any time Room has fridge and coffee maker with free bottle of waters We enjoyed it very much!

Excellent location and friendly knowledgeable staff made this a very pleasant stay. Quiet right on the bay overlooking Coast Guard Island with views of San Francisco. Went for the retirement of a friend staff was very helpful from helping with a great room to allowing my wife and I to stay a little longer

Hotel is clean, great rates for the San Francisco Bay Area. The view of the bay, as well as a walking/running path makes it extra special. Breakfast is included and unending coffee in the lobby. Close to Oakland airport too.

Paola and Chris was great just what every hotel needs at the front desk, I walked in to a nice greeting from both Paola was very great at explaining what all the hotel has to offer and also did not take to long with checking me in. Chris helped me a lot during my stay as well was very speedy at getting any problems I had fixed right away. Everytime I stay here this place gets better !

From the greeting at the front desk to the spacious room to the plentiful morning breakfast , I had a wonderful stay at the Best Western. I loved the fact that you could go between both hotels-The Executive Inn Suites and the Best Western.

Everything was wonderful!!! From the view on the balony of the near by marina and San Francisco and Oakland, the breakfast and the different options everyday (I especially like that coffee and tea was available 24/7), the room was clean and we was able to control the climate just fine (bed was a little too firm but still it didn matter), and friendly service. Nicholas booked me at a great price! Pocola was there everyday to answer all my question and make the reservations when we needed the van to pick us up or drop us off at the train or airport. We will def stay at this location when we come back to Oakland. Its 10 minutes from downtown Oakland and 20 minutes from San Francisco! You can take a beautiful walk on around the property and the dock. There's a good place close called Gaslight restaurant that was a 7minute walk away with great food. And we stumbled upon the Mary Jane store across the street. Only con: Beware of the taco truck outside hotel they do not give you what they advertise.

We love this place! We always stay here when we visit Oakland. The service is outstanding, they made our checking in and out a breeze. Made a wonderful recommendation for a lovely dinner at a fantastic restaurant close by.

What a surprise this past weekend was. After hearing some horror stories about Oakland hotels and their guests we visited Trip Advisor to figure it all out. Best Western Plus had good reviews yet we still wondered. We recently stayed in New Orleans and Philadelphia at large chain hotels. Our experiences were “meh.” Very unremarkable stays. I booked online for BW Plus. I had to call and change the bed requests and the desk was so helpful. I even asked a few questions about the safety of their property ( had heard rumors about Oakland) and if all the great reviews online were REALLY true. He said that their property was one of the “best kept secrets”—and went on to answer my questions explaining that their buildings are well lit with exterior door security. I assumed All the great reviews on TA were true. And they are! I don't usually take the time to give a hotel a rating but I really felt I should this time. BW Plus goes over the top to make sure your stay with them is exceptional. They room size was awesome, with a balcony, good air conditioning, and new furniture and appliances. I rarely drink coffee from the room coffee makers because the cups are usually exposed and the coffee choices no good. Ours was great! Everything was well wrapped in plastic and the cups were real coffee mugs. The coffee bar had a microwave and frig. The bathroom had both shower and separate garden tub. There is a safe in the closet. The beds were comfy and pillows fluffy. We didn't have time to eat breakfast on the two mornings we were there but the lounge and eating areas were spacious and very clean. All four of us kept comparing our recent hotel experiences with this experience and repeatedly said that we hope all BWPlus hotels are as great as this one because we will start looking at them too, next time we are planning on taking a trip. Kudos to all of the staff—especially housekeeping.

The room was massssssive and overlooked the bay. It was so comfortable and perfect! Breakfast was fabulous and lots of choice. The best we had on our entire trip. Great view of the bay while eating. Courtesy car service to the BART station. Recommend the bay side of the hotel as the other side overlooks a very busy road.

I needed a single night stay close to downtown and di not want to rent a car. They offer a free airport shuttle (call them) and it is easy to ride share downtown from there. The lobby and breakfast areas were immaculate and featured nice waterfront views. My room was large and well equipped (other than not enough outlets near the bed). I will try to stay here again on future trips.

I travel quite a bit and Bayside Best Western is by far one of the top places I've stayed. Their staff and amenities are top notice. The restaurant has one of the best steaks I've ever had while traveling. When I'm traveling to Oakland, I only stay at Bayside.

Everyone there was really nice. Great view of the bay. Beautiful and large rooms. The tub was amazing! Definitely coming back again next time I visit the area. And the free shuttle was a total plus. Saved us some money on ubers

We always enjoy staying at this hotel when we visit Oakland. The room is very nice and comfortable. It's important to us to have the minifridge and microwave. Having a water view is good to have. We saw some incredible sunsets with San Francisco in the background. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is very good, they even had bacon one morning. When the weather is nice, the pool is a great amenity to have. My only complaint is the bed is very hard and uncomfortable we were in 2 rooms and each one had a hard bed. I ordered a lot of extra pillows and put them down to sleep on. If you like a hard bed, then you won't have a problem.

I really wanted to say how professional and helpful Nicolas was during our visit. He went out of his way to take apart the coffee machine in the late afternoon so I could have a cup of coffee. And he did no make me feel like it was a burden. He jumped right on the task. He is an asset to your hotel and I definitely manager material…exceptional customer service.

We decided to stay at the hotel in advance of trail race of Oakland Hills. The location was ideal, the view was spectacular, and the room was very large, pleasant and overlooked the sunset over the water. The front desk was great, recommended a wonderful restaurant for us, and a very smooth check-in. Breakfast area was great and the food was typical of Best Westerns. Would recommend a stay.

Was very pleasantly surprised. Very large water-view room. Modern and clean. Comfortable. Nice balcony overlooking water. Absolutely no place to walk to for meals except hotel next door (actually run by same people) who had a grilled dinner option (steak or fish) in their bar for a very reasonable price. Don't get ground floor room since homeless people sleep outside at night on bench along water (same issue all around this area)

Stayed here after arriving on a late flight. Booked this hotel as it was nr 1 on Tripadvisor. It's a typical Best Western property with decent rooms and complimentary breakfast. Is it worth the $260 I paid? It most definitely isn't. I guess you could say the area around the hotel was safe but there is basically nothing there. Staff was very friendly and helpful. It might be a good option if you wanna be close to the airport, but I would not pay more than $150 to stay here. Unfortunately it's almost impossible to find any decent hotel for a normal price in the Bay area.

BW+ Bayside is a home away from home-type hotel. The warm and welcoming staff, the spotless rooms (including the general public areas) are all clean and welcoming. I have come here for both meetings and overnight stays. The Oakland area is surprisingly fun and refreshing, affordable and easy to access, for sporting events and just being able to go siteseeing and running around for a good fun time in the SF Bay Area. I think it would be well worth anyone planning a trip to the lovely SF Bay Area, to include Oakland to your places to come visit. If you have children with you, you'll also enjoy larger than expected rooms and spacious hotel accommodation. So, make a stop at Children's Fairyland, Fenton's Ice Cream, the Oakland Zoo, Oakland A's baseball, and more. Just a great place to stop and stay to relax.

It's a clean and safe area. Security is around. Loved the water view from my hotel. It great they offered breakfast - self serve so you could eat on the main area or your suite. Liked the option of having a laundry and dryer machine available on site. Staff were very helpful.

The Hotel is located between Jack London Square & the Oakland Airport, making it easily accessible to most areas of Oakland. The rooms are nice, including refrigerator, microwave & safe in the room. The rooms on the water side have balconies. There's also a restaurant & bar. The food menu is limited, but the food is excellent.

Fabulous Best Western. From the location, and value, to the courteous staff and amenities. Close to the Colosseum, Oakland Arena, BART, Oakland International Airport, and a quick commute to SF. Unexpectedly quiet, beautifully appointed and quiet rooms right on the waterfront.

This was the first time I stayed at a Best Western Plus. The hotel was nice and mostly the staff was very nice. Before making my reservation I called the front desk to make sure they had a shuttle for the Oakland Airport, upon check-in I again discussed the need for a shuttle in the morning. Both times I was assured it was no problem, the airport shuttle would run all morning. The next morning I waited over forty minutes in the breakfast area where I had a full view of the front of the hotel, no shuttle ever arrived. I checked with the front desk and was told it runs every 30 minutes. When I pointed out that I had already waited well past that she said she would check then changed her story to it runs only every hour and she would call to see when it would be arriving. I was approached by a manager a few minutes later who told me he didn't see any names registered for a shuttle. I had four conversations with four different people about needing a shuttle that morning and not one had mentioned having to register. The manager tried to blame the delay on the fact that it was raining, there was a little rain no massive storm. So much time had gone by that I was now in danger of missing my flight. In all I waited over 90 minutes for the shuttle and the ride to the airport took 14 minutes even with the rain. There was a true lack of concern by the manager and the woman at the front desk did not know what she was talking about.

We stayed one night at this property and it was perfectly fine. Our king "suite" was spacious but not terribly well appointed. The bathroom was small but OK. We had a nice view to the water and not much outside noise to disturb our sleep. The walls to the adjoining rooms are not very soundproof however, so keep your fingers crossed that you do not have noisy neighbors. The bed and the furniture was too hard for our taste, but it was in relatively good condition. The breakfast buffet ( that was included) was very sparse, OK for a quick bite but not very satisfying. No fruit....just scrambled eggs and bacon, 2-3 cereal choices, waffles, and assorted breads and pastries. We travel a lot and were not expecting much at breakfast, but it was less than is typical in our opinion. In general, we felt that we got a decent value for our money.

Nice freindy staff, clean room, best breakfast choice we have ever experienced in the USA let alone on our california road trip, limited choice of food at evening time. Chanced the burrito van parked outside and it was excellent. The hotel is, in all regards excellent, but the local area is run down, but we had no problems whatsoever.

If you are coming to the Bay Area, this hotel is a great option. It's centrally located, so it's easy to get into the City, stroll through Jack London Square or head up to the North Bay. The room was spacious & clean. I splurged and got a room with a balcony that overlooked the Estuary. A great way to watch the sun go down or watch the rowing teams at practice. The breakfast was good with a good selection of options. The front desk staff were top notch. I felt very well taken care of. We'll definitely be back!

Convenient location and quiet on the estuary side. Nice size room but furniture well used. Bathroom had walk-in shower and separate tub which was nice. Separate toilet closet, convenient as well. Parking is horrific if you come in after a night out.

Stayed 3 nights here before moving on to San Francisco. The hotel was really nice and pleasant with the room facing on to the water. A very spacious room with a large bathroom and microwave etc. The front of the hotel however was facing the motorway (freeway). The location of the hotel was in a very run down area and being from England and finding the place was quite stressful. The hotel is not to blame for the area I know. Let's hope it improves over time.

While travelling in California, this location was one of our overnight stays. It so happened that my birthday coincided with the night we stayed at this Hotel. The Hotel staff learning it was my birthday and went out of their way to buy me a bottle of wine and cup cakes. They even included a nice hand-written card from the staff. They did not have to do this, but by doing so made my day even more special after a long day of travel. Their rooms were large, very nice and all of the staff we interacted with were extremely pleasant to us. Overall a great place to stay. Thank you!

We stayed here for 5 nights when Teen Girl Thing wanted to attend a concert at nearby Fox Theater. We chose a waterfront room, which had a private patio overlooking a scenic running path and the estuary. Comfortable beds, clean rooms, serene setting, reasonable rates, and exceptional staff. A lovely concierge noticed me refilling from the water dispenser a few times and gave me a complimentary bag full of bottled water, seriously customer-oriented!! I will definitely book this hotel again.

We stayed one nite and were pleasantly surprised and totally impressed ... best value in the area. Free WiFi, decent breakfast, parking, airport transportation and large rooms. We had a first floor room with a patio looking at to the estuary. We researched other nearby hotels, but there were fees for parking and a strange fee, an amenities fee.

Absolutely love this place! The entire staff is amazing and the hotel is great! Staying in the rooms on the water side makes you feel like your on a ship. It's right across from coast guard island and tou can see sail boats pass by while sitting in your room. The beds are comfy and I cannot say enough good things about the staff! It's also about 15 min from the Oakland Airport which made getting to work easy.

Surprised my love with a overnight getaway at this property. Very nice room view of the water. Staff was awesome, quiet area but close to all the fun stuff would definitely recommend to friends and family.

We walked in and were immediately greeted by Rene. Rene was extremely competent, accommodating and very pleasant which made our check in process a breeze. Rene is an excellent example to his coworkers of what Outstanding Customer Service is all about. Our large room with a king bed and water patio view was very nice and quiet considering the closeness to the freeway. The breakfast was adequate with many options, fruit, cereal, eggs, bacon, oatmeal, bagels, toast, doughnuts and good coffee and hot tea options. The free parking was also awesome.

We actually are trying to find an excuse to travel to Oakland again and with a little more time. We would have liked a few more minutes to enjoy the outdoor patio that was on the bay. The room was nice and it had the oversized tub and plenty of water pressure in the shower.

My daughters & I stayed here after attending a Shawn Mendes concert at Oracle Arena. This hotel is very conveniently located to the Arena, under 10 minutes by car. The parking and breakfast are included. The room was very clean and comfortable. The staff were all very polite and friendly. I would definitely stay here again. Our room faced the highway but there was no problem with traffic noise. The solar shades let in a lot of light, while obscuring the view of the traffic.

We chose this hotel for a stay while attending Oakland Athletics games. The rooms are large and clean and comfortable. The water views and balcony were a pleasant surprise. ALL staff we interacted with were delightful! We will be back.

I felt very welcome when I came in to the hotel. Jose Rene made me feel like I was talking to my very own brother. My reservation got mixed up by accident and Mr Rene went out of his way and fixed it.

I stayed at the BW plus hotel and it was a great experience from the time I walked in until the time I checked out. Great customer service! Staff member Paola was awesome she made me feel welcomed and she was so accommodating to my needs. Paola is what customer service is about. The rooms were nice and spacious and very clean. Every time I am in town this is where I will be staying!!!!!!!! Check it out you will not want to stay anywhere else.

I have stayed at this location multiple times and this continues to be my go to when I am in the Bay Area. The location is easy to get to, the parking is right on site and free and they offer a good breakfast whether you off to hit the road for activities or another long day of travel. The rooms are always clean and although not the most updated, they are large rooms and have a nice big bathroom with walk in shower and separate soaking tub. I have stayed here multiple times and it will continue to be one of my go to places to stay when I am in the Bay Area.

I had a very pleasant stay at the Best western bayside hotel. I arrived early and was picked up by the shuttle at Oakland airport. I was able to check in to a beautiful waterfront room and spent the afternoon working at the well appointed desk in the room while enjoying the beautiful view outside. For lunch I walked about a half a mile to the lighthouse restaurant and for dinner I enjoyed the taco truck that parks directly outside the hotel. Not a lot of food options here but I understand they will drop you off and pick you up if you want to go to local restaurants. The hotel room it's self was very large with a sofa large desk area and a coffee bar with a refrigerator and coffee maker and a microwave. The bath is extremely large with a walk-in shower and a separate tub and separate toilet area. Staff was all very friendly and accommodating. There was plenty to eat at breakfast although most of it was carbs which are my weakness. Pancakes and waffles and donuts oh my! The setting is beautiful and I enjoyed a walk on the trail behind the hotel along the water. Its a very nice hotel, close to airport and Alameda. Breakfast was ok, would have preferred more options for grab and go. Rooms were spacious and bathroom had a separate tub and shower. Water view was nice and you could hear the morning reveille and evening taps from Coast Guard Island.

Loved my stay the view is amazing and the hot tub coukd have been warmer it was luke warm not hot but the tub in the bathroom was luxuriously amazing and huge to soak in. They have a shower and tub in every room i belive. I used the shower to rinse off the chlorine and was able to hop in the tub rinsed off from the hot tub and relaxed in that instead.

It has been a long time since we have been in Oakland. The waterfront area is being revitalized and repurposed. Newer hotels, restaurants and a new energy. And this BW Bayside is in the right place to benefit. Close to Bart. Close to Jack London Square and close to the ferry that takes you to downtown San Francisco. Lobby was inviting. Room was large and clean. Staff was friendly and helpful.

I stay in Oakland on business and this, by far, is the nicest hotel available. All the rooms have a waterfront view. There's a walking path outside, and the rooms are nice and comfortable. My only criticism is the fitness center needs updating. It also needs weights and mats. Otherwise, the helpful staff makes up for the not-so-great gym.

I have nothing but great things to say about this hotel. Location to the A's stadium was convenient. The waterfront room with the view of the cities was spectacular and relaxing. Service was excellent from check in to check out. Clean, comfortable rooms. And the breakfast as always was fantastic. Anytime we visit the Bay Area, this will be our go to hotel! Well done!

Travelling for work is often productive, usually tiring and sometimes fun. The hotel really matters. On a 10 day work trip in three California cities, I was at the Best Western Plus Bayside Hotel in Oakland for 3 days. The room was amazing with a super comfortable bed, soaking tub and great shower and a waterview balcony ( you can also see San Francisco in the distance) that was perfect for morning coffee and evening relaxing. The complimentary airport shuttle and good breakfasts were great also. The staff ,especially Nick, were so friendly ,welcoming and helpful. I get to Oakland a lot and am so glad I found my new go to hotel there.

We traveled with a 2 year old en route to Hawaii and stayed here for 2 nights. We were worried about transit around Oakland / to SF ferry with a car seat; Enrique the driver was AMAZING and took the car seat back to the hotel for us after dropping us off at Jack London Square. After we returned from our fun days, we called the hotel which called a shuttle to us and got the van and car seat right back to us. Phenomenal. They went out of their way to make our stay as stress free as possible. We actually changed another booking so we could stay here again on the way back from Maui.

We received a fantastic welcome despite it being nearly midnight when we arrived after our flight from Honolulu. Spacious reception area with views through breakfast area to the water. Huge room, Loads of hanging and drawer space. Comfortable sofa and armchair. Great bathroom with separate bath, shower and toilet. Fabulous view from balcony all the way across the Bay to San Francisco CBD. Good choice for breakfast, only complaint would be plastic cutlery, but we do understand. Fantastic 3 night stay there, great access to San Francisco. Would highly recommend.

As soon as we walked in the front door, our kids said “wow!” because of the view of the water beyond the lobby/breakfast area. There was a miscommunication situation with the shuttle that was supposed to bring us from the airport to the hotel, so they advised us to take a taxi or Uber and they would reimburse us; as soon as we were warmly welcomed inside the hotel, the staff started working on our reimbursement and we had it before we even made up to our room! Because of that minor hiccup, they gave us free roundtrip tickets for the BART! We also were able to use the free hotel shuttle everywhere we went! The staff was wonderful; happy, friendly and fun. We enjoyed the wide variety of breakfast options and eating while looking out onto the water was a great start to our day. Don't miss the hot beverage machine-the french vanilla cappuccino is SO good! Lovely hotel! Superior staff! Will definitely choose that hotel again!

We stayed 5 nights and overall disappointed. The room had a pretty nice water view. In our opinion, hotel services could be improved with minimal effort to attain more satisfied customers. Housekeeping services need to be better organized and improve. Every day, even though we placed a post card by the door requesting service as we left in the morning, we had to go to the reception and ask service when we came back after 3 pm. On one occasion it was after 4 pm and the room was not serviced. The hotel has a good location but does not have a lounge/bar on the main building. You have to walk 5 minutes to the next hotel which is the "sister" hotel to get a drink or have food. Food choices were very limited. For the price we paid per night the value was not there in our experience.

We originally stayed at the Executive Inn and Suites next door which is owned by Best Western. For the same price we got a larger suite with actual closets instead of and area to hang clothes; a larger bathroom where the shower and bath were separate from each other and a separate toilet room. The room even came with a couch that converts into a bed. We literally walked from the Executive Inn and Suites 30 feet away to this place which was quieter, less damp and spacious. Granted I got the government rate. So for me it was the best bang for the buck my family got while staying in the Oakland area. That's saying a lot since probably 75% of "Oakland" not in Berkeley or Emeryville is pretty ghetto with transients everywhere you go and it's no different in this area with a homeless camp just a few miles away and the occasional transient coming through trying to get some free breakfast. Also, the cleaning crew needs a little QAQC. Seriously, check under and around the beds instead of just vacuuming, wiping counter tops, cleaning bathrooms and etc. Because at both hotels I found empty water bottles or bottle caps or water bottles used as sunflower seed/chewing tobacco containers and etc. around the bed or couch.

Staff at the hotel could not have been more helpful, and the use of the shuttle bus was excellent being able to take us the various parts of downtown as well as Oakland airport. Great view of the bay from the hotel room. Menus were slightly limiting but good German bar nearby

Stayed here before. Love the area, the hotel and the bar next door. Will stay here every time we make it to the Oakland. Between the staff and the view it is well worth the price. The only thing I would change is the powdered eggs at breakfast. And more hot for variety.

This quiet hotel in Oakland has far exceeded my expectations. I love to start my day sipping a cappuccino on a patio or balcony while watching the various birds and the small watercraft sail by the hotel. After a delicious breakfast, I take the hotel's shuttle to the ferry dock for a relaxing trip to San Francisco. I then spend the day as part of the hustle and bustle of a tourist city and that evening return to Oakland to the welcoming and quiet Best Western. This just might be the best Best Western anywhere.

Great value, free parking, friendly and professional staff. Free hot breakfast; with some items changing daily. The hotel also provides complimentary shuttle service. They dropped me off at the BART station every morning and picked me up at the end of the day!. I had a large, clean, quiet room facing the water. I would definitely recommend!

I really enjoyed my stay here- clean, roomy, all the amenities one needs. Bed and pillows just "ok", needs a little more lighting and 2 outlets didn't work leaving my phones uncharged. Comfortable, attention to details was appreciated like makeup mirror, real coffee mugs, recycling efforts (though use plastic bags to wrap mugs and glasses??) little business supplies section, and hook in bathroom. The bathroom and balcony were also comfortably roomy though the heavy self shutting door to the bathroom inside the bathroom was kind of odd. Nice soaking tub with separate walk-in shower. Parking is included, GREAT breakfast!!! They have a restaurant for dinner and 24 hour coffee/tea station. Recommend bay side for the view and quieter than freeway side.

Customer service at this hotel was excellent. Nicholas at the front desk was very helpful in all aspects of our trip from inquiry calls, making the reservation, check-in, advice on getting around and getting to the Warriors game. Our room was spacious and very comfortable. We utilized the shuttle several times and found it very helpful.

I spent 2 weeks in Oakland on corporate business last month and tried two different hotels prior to finding this one during that time. Wish I had found this one first as I would not have had to look for an alternative. The choice for weeks trip was very easy, BW Bayside.

I only checked in yesterday and so far i have only wonderful things to say about it. The rooms are huge, well appointed, i love having multiple seating options (a pet peeve is having to sit on the bed to read or watch TV), the deck overlooks the bay trail, it has a gorgeous view of the Oakland Estuary and of SF, it is peaceful and lovely here. I stay in a lot of hotels and have never really given a Best Western a chance. Last time i visited i was in a high rise in Oakland--this hotel is a real eye-opener. A lovely change of pace, much nicer than the chain high-rise, and offers a variety for breakfast (everyday will be a bit different --super excited about that). Just a great experience so far--not because i did not know what to expect but because the staff and property is fantastic.

I booked this room last minute. It was almost midnight when I got in town. I found an amazing rate on Hotels Tonight. I called the Best Western, and Trisha at the front desk was super helpful, She price matched the room, and gave me an upgrade upon checkin. I stayed in a king suite with a jacuzzi tub for $129/night, which is much lower than the room is worth. I had a private patio that opened up to the waterfront. My room as clean and cozy and even came with bathrobes and bath salts for the tub. It was the fastest and easiest check in of all time, and the staff was super accommodating. I'd suggest staying here anytime! 5 stars.

Best breakfast buffet at a hotel, hands down. And it changes daily! Rooms are very clean, and large. I'm incredibly impressed by the staff's graciousness. Every now and then there's person who is a gem on a team. But at this location I encountered multiple people that all went above and beyond to ensure I had a great stay. I'm accustomed to this at boutique hotels. But at a Best Western? Whoa! Guess it's time for me to re-evaluate my perception of the chain. The service I received from Rene and Nicolas (who checked me in on two seperate nights), was awesome. Same can be said for Erin and Rene at the front desk who were helpful and friendly in responding to my questions/requests. And also Manuel, whose sunny disposition brightened both my mornings. Best Western is lucky to have such a great individuals as part of their staff, and the people that stay at this hotel benefit as well from their courtesy, care, and kindness.

I was fortunate to get a room with a balcony overlooking the water, and the weather was nice enough that I could sit out there. The room was spacious with many amenities, such as a coffee maker and microwave. There was adequate storage, although the lighting could have been better if you wanted to sit and read at night. The desk staff were very cordial and helpful. I would stay here again.

I recently stayed at the best western in Oakland and it was a great experience. The breakfast was great. Michelle was extremely helpful. She definitely goes over and above to take care of the guests. I will always stay there when I'm in town. Michelle is a great asset to the hotel.

Lovely hotel, gorgeous room with beautiful views bayside, comfortable bed, didn't like pillows. Coffee machine makes five different types of coffee and hot chocolate in lobby complimentary. Airport shuttle on the hour, breakfast buffet average, nothing special.

We totally enjoyed our stay at this property. The staff couldn't have been nicer & we took advantage of the free shuttle service several times since we did not have a car. The room had a great water view & was huge--I wish I had that bathroom at home! We took the ferry each day to go to San Fran and it was amazing--so clean, comfortable & easy to use. The breakfast was great & I appreciated the 24 hour coffee & fruit after we returned from the city. We did not experience any noise & the bed was very comfortable. We will definitely come back if visiting San Francisco since the Oakland airport was much easier to fly into vs San Francisco.

My girlfriends and i stayed this past weekend and Erin was such a delight upon check in and check out . She always said hi to us , kept a smile on her face, and had wonderful big hair! Keep her as an employee. I would go back just for her. Reserve two queen beds on waterside. Beautiful suite like room with a lot of space and beautiful wall paper. Enough space for about 5 people or so .

Upon check-in you are asked to write a review in TripAdvisor, and given a welcome bag with bottled water and some snack food. The hotel is indeed situated on the bayside and the side facing the bay is quite nice. However the other side faces I880 which is a very busy major highway that runs all night. Traffic noise is therefore very bad in rooms on that side of the hotel and the rooms at the end. I had an end room on the ground floor and found the traffic noise very disturbing at night. The room also had been redecorated recently and the stench of paint gave me a headache. Front desk staff were sympathetic to the noise/smell issues but there was no alternative room that did not also have road noise. There is no bar or restaurant. The next door related hotel, Executive Suites, serves evening bar meals but they are not too appetizing. There are a very limited choice of restaurants within walking distance, all of rather mediocre quality. The area generally is run down and does not feel very safe at night. Breakfast offers a limited range of food options but only SINGLE USE PLASTIC cutlery of such poor quality that it is almost unusable, and flimsy paper plates. Undrinkable coffee. It is hard to see how this can be the highest rated accommodation in Oakland. We moved to a different hotel (the Hilton at Oakland airport) which was much better and approximately the same price. BW Hotel management couldn't care less that we were so dissatisfied that we moved out.

We were here over Christmas to see family and this was fairly conveniently located, so we chose it. This was our first visit here and now, when we go back, we'll stay here again. We had a bay view room with a small balcony and I highly recommend getting one of these. We were able to sit out there and read and watch the sunset over the City and it was perfect. Inside the room, I was particularly happy to see a recycling container in the room and the king bed was very comfortable. A table and microwave and fridge completed the room and it was very comfortable. The lobby was huge and welcoming and the breakfast area was right next to it and it was also very large with many good options. The hotel has really good access to and from I-880 and even though it was close by, on the bay side, we heard no traffic. Finally, we discovered a food truck in front of the Executive Inn next door and had a good Mexican dinner which we ate in the dining area on our last night. I will definitely try this hotel again on our next visit.

Clean, spacious, waterfront lodging is an excellent value. Close to downtown Oakland, but away from hustle-bustle. Pool and jacuzzi available (we didn't use), plus fitness center. We'll be staying here again.

Booked my room via Priceline and was surprised upon arrival to be given a completely different room because I 1) was not a Best Western member and 2) arrived after 9pm. After some back and forth and contacting Priceline, I was refunded the difference for the inconvenience. Other than that this is a great hotel in an industrial area of Oakland. There's not much around so having a car is very important unless you are okay with Uber/Taxi everywhere. Ended up in a room with a balcony overlooking the water which was great. Beds are comfy. I'd definitely stay here again.

We stayed here during Christmas week, and were delighted with the location for visiting Oakland and seeing the bay - across from San Drisco. The hotel has excellent public areas, room size and comfort, and friendly, helpful staff. We especially appreciate Erin, at the front desk. She went out of her way to welcome us, check to be sure we were happy, and then followimg up. She also greeted us each day with a cheerful attitude. The breakfast was fine and comprehensive and the woman in charge was very competent and friendly. For several years, we had stayed at another hotel in the same area, but it declined in quality while, surprisingly, going up in price. This is a betterr choice.

We went to Oakland to see a show at Yoshi's. I had points from BW and was surprised by the quality of the hotel and the room that we were offered. It was facing the water and was certainly a nice size. The staff was friendly and helpful. It was an overall wonderful experience.

We are so happy in our stay. housekeeping did a wonderful job as well. Room spacious with a balcony , absolutely clean, and a good quality of coffee offered for the in room coffee maker. For upcoming trips to Oakland I will definitively book this hotel again.

Stayed here for a 4-night break in San Francisco. This hotel is part of the marina regeneration and has everything you need - superb views of the city, shuttles both to the airport and BART station, exceptionally helpful staff and good, nourishing breakfast. And a reasonably priced guest laundry. Highly recommend.

Stay on the first floor if you can. Opens to a patio with a great view of the Ocean/Estuary! Room was very comfortable. Enjoyed having separate shower instead of climbing into a tub. Breakfast was very good. Staff was very helpful.

Best value in the SF Bay area. Big room with balcony facing the bay, big bathroom. seating area, refrigerator , comfortable bed. Best yet- room comes with FREE parking and free breakfast. . Unlimited fruit, juices, yogurt, toast, waffles and eggs . Off the beaten track but well worth the savings.

CONS - Front desk didn't have our reservation correct, gave out keys that didn't work, checked a family into our room after we checked in, old dirty bathroom (room overall needs refresh/remodel).PROS - Friendly staff, good location on waterfront near airport, shuttle service to/from airport, good breakfast included, dinner/bar available nextdoor at sister hotel.

I have no idea how they recruit, but the team at the BEST Western Plus Bayside Hotel in Oakland, CA is outstanding. As a part of my work commute, I spend two weeks a month there and it has honestly become my home away from home. They are phenomenal ambassadors for the company and go through great lengths to keep me coming back. A shout out for ERIN, NICHOLAS, FAVIOLA, CHRIS and I'm sorry if I'm leaving anyone out. I just hung up with ERIN after needing a last minute change to my reservation and she said "No worries, I've got you!". Please take care of these people. They rock!

great location, secure, clean comfortable, friendly staff, and clean appearance. the room was larger than expected and the balcony was a nice touch. I would stay there again. I was there for work but I can see this as a getaway hotel.

Stayed for 2 nights. Big clean room with very comfy beds. Big clean shower and bathroom. Self serve tea/coffee/hot chocolate facility in foyer was a bonus. Generous breakfast with enough choices. Close to lots of eateries in Alameda and about a 15-20 minute drive to San Fransisco depending on traffic of course. Would stay again.

Recently stayed at this hotel on a girls trip. It was perfect for us! The room was gigantic and accommodated all of our girl stuff! The beds were comfortable, the couch was accommodating, the balcony was big enough for us and the view of the downtown SF skyline was awesome! The room was right on the waters of the bay and we got to watch the rowing crews practice in the morning. The hotel breakfast was good. It was well rounded with proteins/carbs. The hotel felt very safe with all areas requiring room key to access. The lobby was bright and spacious. I can't imagine needing to pay overpriced hotels in downtown SF when this hotel was reasonable and just an Uber ride away.

My room faced the Coast-Guard station, with the waterway (estuary) in between. This is very pleasant (although half the rooms face the other way, towards a freeway, so you must hope to avoid those). There's a splendid walkway along the water. Sunrise from my balcony is pretty— see my photo. At 8 AM on a Friday you hear a bugle call from the Coast Guard, while at 8 AM on a Saturday you hear the coach for a rowing team, telling the boats to line up — see my photo. My only complaint: there's no way to plug in a phone to charge by my bed — the lamp and alarm clock lack power outlets or USB ports— you can only charge on the desk. TripAdvisor actually had the best rate for this hotel.

We stayed here one night for a concert, 15 min Lyft drive to the Oracle Arena, btw I do not recommend taking uber or lyft to concerts, just drive and pay the 40 parking. Trying to get a lyft at the end of the concert was a nightmare. Back to the hotel. The hotel was clean nice view. The bed was pretty stiff, the tv did not work, it would not change channels, and our room 307 had stinky funky smell to it, I didnt ask to change rooms because we werent gonna stay there for long and the smell wasnt too strong but still there. Breakfast was ok for it to be free, cant complain. They also had juice and coffee and tea 24hrs a day. I would recommend this hotel, just make sure it doesnt stink and the tv works.

The hotel staff is absolutely the best.Everyone is consistently friendly,thoughtful and accommodating,with a special nod to Nicolas who's empathy and proficiency made a difficult time for me one that was less stressful in this popular hotel that can get booked up very quickly.The skyline of San Francisco,visible from rooms overlooking the water, is especially beautiful at sunset and sailboats drifting by silently add to the peaceful feeling one gets whenever stepping out on the balcony where chairs invite you to sit and breathe in the fresh air.The rooms are not only well kept,comfortable,clean and roomy,but also have beautiful bathrooms with bathtubs that could very comfortably fit two.There is also breakfast served every morning,a laundry room,a gym and a pool that has the same beautiful view overlooking the water.Just the best !

Helpful staff, convenient shuttle service to BART, clean rooms, access to pool, great views, good breakfast options. The parking was convenient also. Overall, really good hotel experience that I'll return to.

We visit the bay area several times a year and usually stay in the city . This was our first stay in Oakland and we found this particular site to be convenient , pleasant and in safe area. Good points -helpful friendly staff -easy access to freeway -attractive well maintained property -better than average complimentary breakfast -fast WiFi -nice view of bay . Quiet especially in bay view rooms. Balcony nice. - shuttle to various spots including Jack London Square Only drawback is that there is not much you can walk to from the area. There is a Starbucks a few blocks away. But in the Bay Area you really have to know which areas are OK for walking and the shuttle and Uber are good options.

From my point of view this hotel deserves 4 stars. The view of the bay and SF skylines is gorgeous. The two queen room is so spacious and has high quality organic soaps, etc. The service was excellent. The breakfast could be better than the standard American breakfast in other average restaurants.

Good rooms, friendly and helpful staff. Free shuttle service to airport and BART station, which is just two stops to SF financial district. Breakfast included (not to European standard) saves time and money. Friendly staff there also. Free coffee and water whenever. Nothing to see or do around. Rent a car or use the free shuttle. They also pick you up if you call ahead. Friendly drivers are better than Uber.

I am extremely happy with our two nights at this hotel! Brilliant round trip transfer services going to the harbour to catch the ferry to San Fransisco (to be booked in advance). Also transfer services going downtown Oakland to do a S/S of Oakland. Close to Starbucks Cafe and very close to harbour offering a beautiful view of sunrise and sunset. Friendly and efficient staff. Possibility of having dinner at the hotel. Suggests that you book a room with view overlooking the harbour.

This hotel is on the water and our king suite had a balcony with a view which was really nice. The room was spacious and clean with both a tub and a stall shower and the toilet was in a separated from the shower area. The vanity was well lit with plenty of room for our toiletries. Breakfast was pretty standard and the doughnuts were awesome.

My daughter purchased tickets for an Arcade Fire show at the Greek Theater at UC Berkley and after looking around we found the Best Western Bayside Hotel that would be within an Uber ride so we booked a room for 3 adults. My daughter met us at the hotel and as a family surprise my son, who lives in Portland, OR, was with her. The room was quite large and spacious so adding 1 more person was a breeze. After the show we were able to relax in our room with a night cap and a great family moment.The hotel is lovely with a very nice water side location. The lobby and sitting area were well appointed, comfortable and clean. We will stay there again the next time we are on that side of the Bay.

We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights when visiting San Francisco. What a great hotel at a very reasonable cost which included breakfast and shuttles to and from airport, ferry or Bart. You will need to book these shuttles well in advance as they are not always able to accommodate the time you require. 30 mins ferry trip from Oakland to San Fran ferry terminal or Fishermans Wharf. Take the public bus number 47 from Fishermans Wharf changing on to the 28 which stops at the Golden Gate bridge. A much cheaper way of visiting. $3.75 for 90 mins of travel on any bus. Make sure you have the correct money. Alcatraz a must but book well in advance of trip. Sausalito well worth a visit on the ferry. All in all SF a fabulous city to visit and Bayside Best Western Oakland a perfect place to stay. Also recommend Salmon and Steak for dinner at the sister hotel Executive Suites next door. Quinns Lighthouse for dinner about 10 mins walk from hotel

Did not have to wait long to be shuttled from the airport to the hotel. Spacious and clean room with a beautiful view of the water. Friendly staff was very accommodating to our need to check in early from an exhausting flight. Truly made it a wonderful vacation experience. Would definitely stay again and highly recommend staying at the beautiful Best Western Plus Bayside Hotel.

This is our "go-to" hotel when visiting Oakland or San Francisco. It is in a convenient location, and it is clean and quiet. It also has a free shuttle service and free breakfast. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. At our most recent visit, we received a free upgrade to a larger water-front room. I have found hotels for less cost, but I am willing to pay a little bit more to know that I will always have a great experience at this location.

The BW Bayside hotel is beautiful with Awesome views of the waterfront from the dining area and multiple rooms. Sunsets are lovely from the lounge and even better from the pier. Entry into the hotel looks like something out of a movie. Staircase is beautiful, staff were friendly and attentive. Look forward to staying there again.

Had a great 3 day stay at this hotel. Had a room with balcony overlooking the water. Although busy in the conference during the day it was nice to relax afterwards in the lounge and on the balcony. Great hotel with very personable staff!

From the moment I first called the front desk to inquire about making a reservation untill check-out, I was impressed.The people answering the phone were easy to communiticate with and answerd my questions.Check in was quick and easy. Our room was perfect. We used the shuttle, to BART station, the airport and Jack London Square. Everyone enjoyed breakfast. Personally, I liked having the coffee and tea service avaiable all day and a big jug of water to refill my water bottle.Our room had a balcony. Sitting on the balcony was very peaceful.The location was great. The price was reasonable. We did not walk around our hotel, but I didn't feel like it would be unsafe to was to Subway or Starbucks down the street.

We booked this for a one night stay between Oakland flights. The room was large and comfortable - unfortunately the shuttle pick up and drop off at the airport was painful. We had a 30-45 minute wait for pick up and the planned 5am drop off was fully booked, so we had to go for the 4am shuttle. Apparently they could only offer an hourly service at this time. Whilst waiting for our pick up, every other hotel's shuttle service picked up two to three times. I would stay elsewhere if you are using OAK airport and require the shuttle service.

Great front desk staff, all so helpful and friendly. Shuttle guys the same which took us to little ferry port. Amazing waterview rooms, unreal sunsets. Rooms are huge and very comfortable. Easy parking, very atttractive quiet pool we used next door and had to ourselves. Starbucks and subway short walk away. Lovely lobby and breakfast area. Glad I picked here instead of the city.

Stayed here on business. Nicolas was fantastic! He made it a point to let me know of all the amenities and made sure everything was going well with my experience. You'll feel like you're at home away from home. Highly recommend this fine hotel. 5 stars for: great room, great views, good food, and EXELLENT service.

Breakfast was ok for a hotel. The hotel was very nice. Good well planned bathroom. Parking is a joke. People take 2 spots, one truck with trailer took about 5 spots. I was only out till 10 pm. But every night there's want enough parking. One night I found a spot in front of the executive inn. One night I had to park on the street out in front of the hotel. The next morning I got a ticket. My advice would be if you use the shuttle for fine. If you rent a car you'll have to needlessly worry about finding a place to park. My $66 ticket just kind of soured my experience a little.

This is so much more than a standard best western... Airport shuttle— call hotel after collecting your luggage and they'll send a shuttle out. “This takes about 25 minutes without traffic”. They would not schedule my pick-up when I called with my flight info. Tried it anyways and driver was there within 15 minutes ( I had carry-on and called as I exited plane. Easy check-in at property. Large, really, really large room. Large bathroom with both shower and tub. Rooms have great water views. Standard bed and linens. Decent WiFi. Very good price. Easy to lift or schedule shuttle into town. On the water with very good views. Standard free breakfast. Pool is next door. Small with a couple of loungers and chairs. 4 stars plus. Hard to believe a “best western” is so excellent. Improvements: teach staff to greet-acknowledge guests.

The staff went above and beyond assisting and accommodating us. We asked to check in 2 hours early and 2 hours late. The shuttle drivers were great and talking about the area and where to go or not go. Howie in the lounge was AWESOME!!!! The steaks were great and he made it an even better and memorable experience. I would definitely stay there again and recommend to anyone.

Great location close to oakland airport and San francisco bay bridge,the room was clean and spacious. our room was facing the freeway ,but the noise was minimum.The staffes were friendly and helpful.have a great stay.

I've stayed in 5 star hotels where the accommodation is less luxurious - we had a huge room with a spectacular view of the water and the bathroom was gorgeous, a deep, large bath as well as a walk-in shower. The breakfast was good and the staff mainly helpful, we wished we could stay longer. My only gripe is that the shuttle service requires a phone call to the hotel to ask for a pick up when returning from the ferry, fine for most guests but not great when my UK mobile won't function in the U.S. and there are no public phones, so a big thank you to the guy in the Bevmo store who used his phone for me. N.B. I had tried to book the return pick-up at the front desk at the outset.

Nice hotel but the pool is in the other hotel so it was to cold to walk to when we were there. We stayed there so we could go to the Berkeley Graduation ceremony. It was easy location to get to everything we needed to do. They have a great breakfast set up.

Room was clean. What impressed me was how wide the room was. Most hotel rooms that sleep 5 are deeper to accommodate two queen beds and a couch, but the width of this room really added to the comfort level. View from our balcony is Coast Guard Island; really cool to watch helicopter pilot training, swim tests in the channel. Also colors can be heard and seen from this hotel! View also includes two marinas, a view of San Francisco skyline and bay bridge. There is lots to take in right from your balcony! Staff were professional, courteous and maybe even a little motivated to help. Extra towels were advertised and always offered. Wifi supported five of us no problem. This hotel offers a shuttle to/from the local BART station; really helpful as the commute to/from SF by car can zap the fun right out of an outing. If your going to be at this hotel over dinner, then UberEats is a real good option; there are plenty of of restaurant options and the delivery was less than 30 minutes. Other good option for dinner is Alameda Island which is only a five minute drive and is night and day different from the view of Oakland from the hotel. Also the lobby at this hotel is very large relatively and very comfortable to loiter. Only gripe is the staff are supposed to ask if I wanted points or a gift, and they did neither. Just said 'thanks for being a platinum member'.

My room was clean and spacious with a balcony overlooking the water. The staff were very accommodating, especially Faviola. Hotel shuttle drivers were super friendly and gave complimentary shuttles to Jack London Square. The complimentary breakfast was a nice bonus.

We stayed one night to see an A's game and we were pleasantly surprised. Our suite was very spacious, the pool was beautiful and clean, and front desk staff were helpful and accommodating. The view of the bay is relaxing and beautiful. Breakfast was also ample.

The comforter has no cover- it's covered with 2 sheets so when you wake up you can see 2 separated sheets and 1dirty something. No soundproof- the music from somewhere,footstep from upstair it's like almost lively morning at 3 am. Don't expect hotel service. staff never say hello to you and when you ask where the elevator is they just point it. It's the worst experience ever.

This has quickly become my family's favorite hotel in Oakland. The location is convenient to the freeway, but you feel very isolated and at ease from the traffic when you look out at the Bay. And the staff, particularly Jay and Erin, were very accommodating. I recommend this to all of my friends with family coming to visit.

It's part of the same conglomerate as the Executive Inn and Suites on the same lot. I've stayed in both hotels and this hotel far exceeds the expectations compared to Executive Inn and Suites. The rooms are a lot bigger. With a bathtub, kitchen table and a sofa. That's in addition to the big screen tv and bed. The fitness center is more modern and up to date. However, the room is more expensive than Executive Inn and Suites. Pros: Bigger rooms Better fitness center No pool, but you can use the Executive Inn and Suites side. Bar located at EI&S. Free electric vehicle parking Security on site for both hotels Cons: You would still need to drive to restaurants and shops. Construction is ongoing.

We stayed here last year so decided to stay againwe had a smaller room this time although they do not state that there are different size rooms for the same price. Through reception staff were always friendly and helpful and very polite it does make a difference when you are staying more than one night. The hotel transport was excellent the drivers helpful and friendly we stayed at another best western on our return to oakland totally different atitude .The room was clean and with balcony overlooking the water excellent views of san franisco in the distance but not for much longer as apartments are being built so that view will be gone the hotel had a restaurant with a bar they serve two selection salmon or steak both delicious and only 16 dollars would recommend this hotel will stay here again if possible The hotel is next to motorway but heard very little noise .

This was my first trip to California. Called and booked a 5 night reservation directly through the hotel. When speaking to the rep, I advised that I needed a third floor room. A guy named Chris checked me in. When I checked in they gave me a first floor room. I asked him about the third floor room and he said they were booked. Not sure what the purpose of booking a reservation in advance if they don't honor it. So for 5 nights I was listening to people walking above my head day and night, water shutting on and off, toilets flushing, etc. Additionally I was unable to fully enjoy the waterfront view (that I paid extra for) because the first floor balcony is a walkout to the sidewalk where people pass back and forth. I had no privacy on the first floor balcony so I had to keep my curtains closed for most of the trip. For a thousand dollars I expected better service and the room type that I asked for. Won't stay here again.

The hotel entrance opens up to a beautiful staircase and very clean, accommodating lobby area and staff. Throughout the stay, all staff we encountered were extremely professional and so down to earth. The room was also just as clean. No offensive odors in the hotel and the rooms blocked out a portion of noise. The shuttle was also as available as can be expected. We never had to wait more than 30 minutes to be taken to the BART station or the ferry.

We were in the area to visit friends in Alameda, and chose the BW Bayside because of it is only a short drive to their house. There's a lot of construction along the adjacent road, so we were a little worried as we drove in. But once inside, that all faded away. As you come in the main entry, you're greeted with a view from the lobby out across the Oakland estuary. Very nice! Check in was quick and easy, the staff very friendly and informative. Our room was on the first floor, ocean side. Great location, with views from the room. And you could walk out and stroll along a paved path along the water, which eventually will be part of the San Francisco Bay Trail. The room was quiet, and the bed just about perfect. The free breakfast in the morning was quite good, with fresh fruit, yogurt, pastries, toast or bagels, and eggs with bacon or sausage, depending on the day. Hot coffee and tea were available all day and night. There's easy freeway access in both directions, and getting to Alameda doesn't require getting back on the freeway. After we checked out, I got a phone call from the hotel letting me know I had forgotten a digital camera battery and charger that had been found plugged in. I've unfortunately forgotten things in other hotel rooms, and I think this was the first time that I got a courtesy call to alert me. That was very much appreciated! So we would give the Bayside high marks all around.

Stayed when visiting friends in Oakland. Close to Oakland downtown area. Hotel provides shuttle service to ferry terminal, where you can take a ferry to San Francisco. The ferry takes about half an hour to get you to San Francisco Ferry Terminal and also to Fisherman's Wharf. Hotel is close to freeway yet relatively quiet. Not much around. Need a car to get around. Enjoyed complimentary breakfast and coffee bar. Breakfast area is facing water and has a small patio where you can have a nice breakfast.

The staff were so courteous, friendly and helpful in ways I could not anticipate! I left an item in my room and did not realize I was missing the item when I received an email! I was still in town and came back the next day to pick it up! And I checked in for another night rather than an Airbnb! Thank you all so much! And the view of the water was a bonus!

Our family has a holiday tradition of staying at the Bayside Hotel when we arrive from Sweden. It is a long flight with small kids, and we always go direct from Oakland airport to the hotel. The staff are wonderful and we always feel welcome. This past holiday, we were especially thankful for the help we received from Laurence and Charles, who really made our visit special. They took care of us - and of our jet-lagged kids. The early morning breakfast buffet is great here. A tip is to spend the extra money for the water view - it is completely worth it. We have stayed here for 4 years in a row - and will certainly be going back for a 5th. High recommended!!

We had an excellent stay at the BW plus. Of course the view from the front of the hotel is a little gritty, but the views from the back of the property overlooking the estuary are beautiful. The hotel has a great shuttle service to take you either to the ferry or BART to San Francisco. We took the ferry (after a leisurely wine-tasting) and had a great dinner and evening out in San Francisco.

Relaxing hotel with wonderful staff. The location is a bit outside the city but the location in quite and peaceful. Enjoyed my dinner in the restaurant and the pool and hot tub were quite. I plan to return to this hotel when staying in the Bay Area.

I am thrilled to let everyone know what a fantastic time I had in Oakland. We stayed at the Best Western plus hotel Bayside. The room were spacious and comfortable. Very clean. We appreciated the morning breakfast, free (money saving). And the free shuttle was amazing. Who does free anymore?!. The front desk staff was professional and full of good information. Nicolas and Erin were top notch,so friendly and patient. I look forward to returning and recommending BW. To my friends. In a side note check for construction that may get in the way of sightseeing.

We were lucky enough to have a first-floor room. We could sit back and watch the sun set over the water. The room opened up right into a patio like area where you can sit outside on a nice evening. The room was quite large and contained a king size bed, a sofa and sitting chair, and a desk. And a jacuzzi tub in the bathroom. Free breakfast was above par with a lot of selection. Definitely worth the visit.

Enjoyed this stay and looking forward to the next one! Hotel is located on Oakland Estuary, between I-880 and Alameda, close to downtown & short drive fro airport. I stayed in room on the estuary side--clear view of the water and marina. Sat on my patio, watching kayakers, diving birds, and the sunset. Could hear the playing of taps from across the channel on Alameda. So relaxing. The room was quite clean, with bed, linens & pillows in good condition--nice, full size, big pillows. The bathroom had both a shower and a large, deep soaking tub, with the toliet in a separate water closet. Breakfast included fresh fruit, yogurt, waffles, cereal, and breads as well as hot eggs/bacon. Small bar onsite. Front desk staff is very pleasant and helpful--Nicolas is the very epitome of hospitality. I will certainly stay here again and happily recommend!

Very conveniently located off of the freeway. Staff was pleasant and accommodating. The free parking was a great perk compared to the $65+/day you'd pay to park at a hotel in SF. Hotel was clean and up to date. Our room had ample space for 3 people. Plenty of great food options nearby (but you would have to drive). I highly recommend and would return.

My family of 3 booked two nights here to be close to U.C. Berkeley for a campus tour. Everything was positive. We were warmly greeted when we walked in the front door and struck by the water view in the beautiful foyer. It was a $16 Uber each way to/from U.C. campus tour. We had the steak dinner (wonderful!) next door. The 2nd night was rainy and we took the free (!) shuttle to Jack London square for a movie. Double queen room was very nice, too. Probably the best Best Western Plus we've ever stayed in.

I stay at this hotel for business I think I'm there more than I'm home. During my current visit I had a small problem. I have bad allergies, I had forgotten to bring my allergy medicine, I spoke to Chris at the front desk asking him where I could find a pharmacy to get some more and when I came back from dinner he had gotten me some to tide me over. I tried to pay him for it but he wouldn't hear of it. That's one of many reasons that I will always stay at a best western. Thanks again Chris your a lifesaver.

My husband and I stayed at the Best Western Plus Bayside Hotel while visiting family in Alameda. The hotel was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. The breakfast was described as continental, but it was a better than the usual continental breakfast. The staff was helpful and very friendly. The location is great for visiting many locations in the Bay area. We would definitely stay there again.

I was happy with our stay here. The staff were extremely nice. The rooms were spacious and very clean. The 24 hour coffee bar was a nice surprise. Breakfast was average, but cery welcomed. The view from our room was nice. Overall I would recommend this to others.

A very nice property with an excellent view of the bay. The workers were all very helpful & accomodating in answering questions & being informative of the Oakland area. Front Desk employee Erin (didn't get her last name), went above & beyond in mapping out my itinerary for my entire stay & even drove the shuttle to get me to the Oakland subway (BART) system to get me around the city of Oakland...it was much appreciated. I would most definitely recommend this property to anyone visiting the Oakland area.

My spouse and I are an older couple and found the hotel to be attractive and quiet. The staff was polite and accommodating. Our room was clean, spacious, and pleasing. There were several places nearby for dining and family activities. This was my husband's second time staying at the hotel and felt it was better than the first. The hotel provides a beautiful view of the bay.

This is the nicest Best Western Plus I have ever stayed - very modern decor, well kept, great views of the water. The only downside is it is extremely popular and crowded, so parking close to the front door can be a challenge, The staff was exceptional, the rooms are very large and well decorated, the bed is extremely comfortabl - I will definitely be staying here again when business takes me to Oakland.

Spacious room, clean, quiet with a lovely view of the Oakland estuary. My only complaints would be to replace to the 1-ply toilet paper with something more substantial and increased parking; have had to park in other hotel lots on the street if returning after 8pm.

From the beginning of the booking process to my stay ending with Enrique, the shuttle driver, taking me to the airport, I was taken care of and WOWed. Great job Hotel Best Western Plus Bayside. I'll be back - not just for the room but for the salmon dinner!

Talk about great customer service...my sister and I didn't even stay at this hotel (they were booked), but we left there feeling like we'd found the place where we would be staying the next time we're in Oakland. Erin, on duty the night we arrived for a little impromptu girl's weekend, was so gracious and friendly. She let us know the hotel was booked, but because we said we loved the ambiance so much (beautiful lobby with great view), she gave us a little tour of the place - showed us a room, and helped get us a room at the sister property next door (Executive Inn & Suites). These two properties are where you should stay when you're in Oakland. The rooms are clean, the staff is friendly, and you feel special.

Stayed at this hotel while in Oakland, CA for a Conference. One of the best Hotel experiences I've had in the Oakland area. Definitely recommmend this hotel. Great Staff, Clean Rooms, and a Breakfast service.

We stayed here for two nights while we were visiting Oakland. It was much better than we expected! The room itself was almost as good as 4 star hotel's - very spacios bedroom + bathroom with high celings, and the bathroom had a corner bathtub with a separate shower booth. Strong water pressure and no slow drainage in shower and sink. Everything looked pretty new and kept clean as well. Our room was facing the water, so we woke up to nice and peaceful scenery each morning. Breakfast and lobby area also has a great view of water. Breakfast was very simple but it was included in the stay. Juice fridge and coffee station were accessible all day. All the staff we talked during our stay were very friendly as well. Oh, and free shuttle to airport!

We booked the BW Bayside after reading all the wonderful reviews on Trip & had a pleasant stay as part of our recent vacation to NorCal. Our booking confirmation (through booking.com) did not give any instruction on how to book the airport shuttle so we sat at the bus stop naively expecting the bus to be on a continuous loop. After 45 mins we went to ask airport information (we travelled from the UK so were trying to avoid international call charges - kind of defeats the point of the free shuttle!) and they said we had to call the hotel but kindly did it for us. Unfortunately they called the BW Plus at the airport so after being driven there by a lovely lady, we found the hotel to not have our reservation & worked out we were at the wrong place! We then had to take a $25 cab ride to the right hotel which wouldn't have all been so bad had we just done this in the first place as we would have saved ourselves a good chunk of time. Equally this could have all been avoided if the shuttle instructions had been clear on the confirmation. Anyway, that is a lot of information on the airport shuttle, so I shall move on! The lobby was lovely, water views greeted us and the hotel has a fresh, clean smell. Service on arrival and throughout our stay was faultless, everyone went out of their way to say hello & couldn't do enough to help. The complimentary coffee was a lovely touch and our room was large, if not a little dated. We found the rooms to be expensive (not just here, Oakland in general) and having travelled all over the world, £140 a night (almost $200) was a lot for a budget hotel stay. We had a late night noise disturbance outside on our first night but other than that the room was really quiet & peaceful (we were on the 3rd floor overlooking the water). Incidentally I called reception when the couple outside had been arguing for a few minutes and they promptly sent security out & the noise immediately stopped - thank you! Breakfast is included which is an added bonus, there were plenty of seats & tables & it never felt crowded. The bagels were lovely! We were lead to believe from the hotel info & other reviews that there was a walking / jogging trail - there is, but it is only about 10 minutes to walk from one end to the other & back so I did my running on the treadmill instead. The gym is small but functional, I liked the complimentary water & the TV was a nice touch. I have to say that our first experience aside, the shuttle service was a great feature. We thought we'd be able to walk to Jack London Square, but it's virtually impossible so we ended up using the shuttle service more than we expected. It was timely, safe & the drivers were all super friendly & helpful. On our last day they took us straight to the Avis depot at the airport (we fully expected to go to the terminal & find our own way) and this really did exceed our expectations. Overall I'd recommend the hotel, the staff & service alone make it a worthy stay.

Needed a place to stay while we toured some Oakland/Moraga college campuses. We had a long drive and arrived at 2am. Clerk was helpful. First, the location was perfect for our stay-15 minutes from the campus. Secondly, we got into our room and it was so roomy/foyer with a mirror, 2queen beds, sitting area, desk, kitchen nook- micro/fridge/counter,benches, door to toilet area, etc. Nice layout. Next, great variety at breakfast- choices for drinks. Lastly, a shuttle to Jack London Square/ complimentary-thank you Donna/ Isaac/Renee/Erin/ Charles. Oh and the views were nice. Keep up the good work- you are the Best!

we were on our honeymoon. and hotel was very clean very nice, also the rate of is very reasonable. Laurence at front desk was extremely helpful, he gave us a room with awesome water view, and it was very spacious. I had a wonderful experience from my check in to my check out. I loved the beautiful views of San Francisco's skyline I truly enjoyed the spacious rooms and bathrooms. The quite, peaceful vibe. Last but not least the best customer service I've ever received. They are always willing to help and offer such a warm and kind experience no matter the issue. Chris & Fabiola are my very favorite they always go the extra mile with a smile. I'd give this hotel a 100 stars if I could but for now I just want to say it's one of my favorite hotels and pretty much my go to when I need a cozy place to stay. It's my home away from home. ????

I stay in many popular named hotels around the country. This BW Bayside rivals some of the nicest hotels I've lodged at. The room was spacious with a beautiful waterway view. 2 awesome employees that are total pros were Fabiola who answered many restaurant related questions. And Gabriela who was super friendly as she worked hard in the breakfast area. They are pros!

This hotel is very easy to find just off the freeway and on the estuary. Lots of parking very close to the front door. Immediately I was struck by how beautiful the lobby was because as you go in the front glass doors you already see the water on the other side of the lobby. The front desk clerk was very helpful and called their free shuttle for us to take us to Yoshi's for a show. The breakfast was held in this beautiful lobby and included everything I needed to support my vegan diet! There is a coffee/tea bar which is open 24 hrs where you can even get a cappuchino! The room was huge with a triple sized closet, safe, wifi, sofa, coffee bar,queen size bed and lovely deck overlooking the water. The bathroom had a large bathtub, separate shower and private toilet. We sat on the comfortable outdoor chairs to watch the sunset, passing sailboats and migrating water fowl. What a treat! I really appreciated the interior decoration of the room.

This place is great! They really thought of everything including little details that make big differences. We had bottled water in our extremely clean, comfy room everyday. We had fresh fruit, bottled fruit juice, fresh bakery pastries, and freshly made breakfast every morning. The pool was warm and welcoming. The view was amazing....day and night! There is a shuttle service and the employees...Jay, Erin, Enrique, and many others, were friendly, helpful, and very professional....

I was staying at the Radisson Oakland Airport on business, and had internet problems with my laptop and phone. Desperately needed to find another hotel where I could connect and get work done. Tried this hotel, and not only did they price-match a lower rate I found online, but allowed me to check in early so I could get back to work. If that wasn't enough, they allowed me the room of my choice and ensured it was cleaned ASAP. Jay is the manager and Erin is the customer relations rep, and both are amazing and very helpful. Because of them, and the finely-appointed rooms, I will be definitely returning every time I'm here on business.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Bayside. The hotel was clean. Hotel staff provided excellent service. They also have an awesome Steak House next door. I would definitely recommend Bayside. The complimentary breakfast coffee tea etc. Definitely recommend to friends and family. Lawrence provided excellent service.

It's rated as a 2.5 star establishment, then it has surpassed what you would have expected. The rooms that I stayed were nice & clean, staff very polite & eager to serve. What delights me most is the 24 hr hot water tap in the beverage station as I need something warm to drink in the middle of the night & early morning. The only item I'd to suggest is the chairs in the breakfast area need to be reupholstered.

Price is around 135 a night. Staff was very friendly. Kudo's to Nicolas and Erin. After a long drive from South Lake Tahoe it was nice to find this hotel just off the ramp of the highway. Drove right to it. This is also the downside; because you need the shuttle service or your car to get around. Ubers are 7 to 8 dollar from the hotel to Jack London square from where you can take the ferry for another 7 dollar (one way). An uber from the hotel to pier 33(alcatraz) is around 32 dollar but a lot faster. There is a starbucks and a subway on walking distance; though not a nice walk when it's dark. Didn't feel unsafe but just dark and industrial next to the highway. The room was very nice. Very complete and spacious; bathroom also. And we had an excellent view on the river from the 3rd floor on our balcony. We only heard the highway from the balcony. Room had safe, coffeemachine, refrigerator, good wifi and entertaining tv. Parking and wifi were free to us The breakfast was basic but decent. Scrambled eggs, sausages, bread, butter, toaster, juice, boiled eggs, fruit, coffee, sugared danishes. The shuttlebus required a reservation so eventually we never took it but just ubered around to Jack London square to the ferry and the restaurants. Would come here again.

Great room that looked like a suite! Glass shower and separate luxurious bathtub. Separate room for toilet within the bathroom! Water view with a balcony! Free WiFi and free breakfast. All included at the price you would normally pay for a two-star hotel. Definitely staying here again!

We didn't know what to expect when we made our reservation for this hotel, and we were extremely happy with our decision to stay here. The hotel has an beautiful view of the city, and is convenient to Berkeley and Oakland. Nicolas at the front desk was extremely helpful even during a busy check in time. Stayed over the New Year's Eve weekend and had a great experience. Room was spacious, clean and comfortable and the staff was so helpful, especially Lawrence who worked at the front desk. A restaurant is located in the adjacent hotel with a limited dinner menu. Food was very good and the price was right!

Rooms large and clean with Bay View! With a later arrival on 12/24 the Staff was friendly and eager to help. The breakfast barista was the BEST! Fresh, coffee and very helpful with whatever we asked for!

What an amazing hotel!!! My family n I LOVED it... the room itself was incredible just the right size. The ameneties from breakfast to shuttles made it even better. We stayed there 1st because of the price not knowing we we getting alot more.. front desk to housekeeping were very kind and attentive. We will DEFINATLEY be booking our stay here again. Great place to walk in the mornings and evenings, close to the ferry to SF and downtown Oakland.. I mean I can go on and on... very highly recommended. Thank you BW!!!

Stayed here many times and it's a great place. Nice location on the water and close to the East Bay plus easy to get into San Francisco but much less expensive that staying in the City. Big rooms and well appointed. Excellent beds, good lighting, not a small thing these days, and couch and big chair to sit in plus the desk chair. Excellent breakfast offerings too. Friendly staff.

The rooms are nice and the property sits on a bay. Updated bathrooms with soaking tub in mine. The bed was comfortable. The only problems I encountered were a smell of body odor in the room, and I could not get the temperature low enough to sleep. Even with the fan on, it stayed hot. The thermostat needs to be easier to operate. Other than that, the room was large, well appointed, and the staff very friendly.

We were very pleased with the size of our two-queen bed room. Hotel has been recently renovated and looks really good. Check-in and check-out staff were friendly and we appreciate the hotel, upon our reservation request, placing us on the water-side of the hotel. The breakfast is basic, but better than nothing. Easy/quick drive your Uber to local places in Oakland.

We love to stay here. They have a wonderful walk along the estuary, a shuttle to many places including Jack London Square and the airport. It is clean, and nicely decorated with friendly , knowledgeable employees. Easy access to the I880.

The views from the bayside rooms are beautiful. Balcony's are something I rarely see anymore but very nice to have a private balcony. Inside the rooms are very clean and spacious. I stay at many hotels around the U.S. and Canada and this is among the top nicest Best Westerns I have come across.

Stayed here for a few days to see the Warriors game at Oracle. This is a nice place to stay. The 3rd floor corner room is nice. Ask for a room with a bay view. Laundry facilities available. The sister property next door has a convenience store with Trader Joe items stocked. The breakfast is very nice with name brand quality items. This is the first place I've ever been to that had a bowl of whole kiwi fruit! The people are very nice here. They have a shuttle that takes you to and from Lake Merritt, Oakland Ferry and the Airport. I would stay here again. I'm not sure about walking around the area at night. Lots of construction going on. One thing that concerned me was a smell in the room. Smelled like fresh wood chips. It was obnoxious after a few hours and getting to my lungs so we moved to another room. It wasn't bad as the first room but the smell was there. Not sure if it's the cleaning chemicals or freshener for masking but there is a smell in the 2 rooms we were in. Other than that, this is a good place to stay!

Nicholas at the front desk was the most helpful representative ever wonderful customer service just the way he treated me makes me wannna come back!!!!! My suite was to ght on the water I woke up and walked out my sliding glass door to the deck so I could watch the sunrise on the water so breathtakingly beautiful I can't wait to go back again I love this hotel!!!!

We stayed at this hotel in order to catch a flight out of Oakland and found it very comfortable and attractive. It was located right off the freeway and drive time to the car rental return was about 12 minutes. Worked great!

I stayed here over the weekend before the Raider game, upon check in the gentleman who helped us, Nicolas, was super kind, took care of us and situated our room and even got us an upgrade. I will definitely be back for my next visit, shout out to the staff member Nicolas for going above and beyond

The only place I I stay when I come to Oakland. Close to Jack London Square, restaurants, ferry, and BART. Breakfast is nothing special, pretty good exercise room. The sister hotel next door has a cocktail lounge and a "Grill and Chill" everyday,

A 2nd floor room on the water side, large and quiet with private deck. Love the view and the sofa and chair area separate are so relaxing to watch tv, read, or just enjoy the breeze off the water and watch the ducks. But the beds are very hard and not comfortable. Unusual in a hotel at this price point

My brother and I spent a lovely weekend at this property. The lobby looks right out at the water making for an impressive arrival. Our room was on the top floor and also had a water view (so not on the road side which might have been noisy?). The room was lovely & large - two big comfy beds, a sofa bed, nice balcony with table and chairs. The bathroom was big with a separate tub and shower. There was a nice coffee bar setup and a bar fridge. I would definitely stay here the next time I'm in the area!

From the moment I called to find out more about the room the service from the front desk was great! I believe I talked to Christopher R. about the view they offered given the location. He offered wonderful advice on the rooms and maintained such a professional voice through the phone, even after my hundreds of questions. The room was super clean and the view was AMAZING! We checked in just in time for the sunset over the water. Also the bathroom was huge and made me feel like I was home haha so my cousin had to deal with my makeup on the spacious counter space.

Front Desk, Erin was extremely kind, wonderful, helpful. All van drivers and breakfast person accommodating and professional. Jay, the hotel Manager, checked me out. I told Jay that we made reservations the night before for the airport shuttle for 12:30 pm. Jay told me there was no such shuttle for 12:30 and that my name did not appear for any shuttle. He called me a liar 4 times. Jay called the person who worked the desk the night before. Jay told the person that I "alleged" that I was booked for the shuttle. Absolutely shocking for any person to call me a liar, but in the hotel industry is just unheard of. WHen the person on the phone confirmed my assertions, Jay did not apologize. He merely said the hotel has policies. I told him I was fine with policies, but not with being called a liar. SHame on Jay and shame on the hotel if it tolerates such outrageous behavior of an employee, let alone a manager. I was scheduled to stay at BW Bayside on 11/28. Now I will not..

The hotel was very nice, and exceptionally clean. Our room was huge, with a beautiful view of the estuary. Really appreciated the huge soaking tub, separate from the glass shower. The breakfast selections were numerous, with plenty of fresh items. Overall, a great place to stay, close to the airport, with shuttle service. Be sure to schedule the shuttle though, it gets booked up.

Nicely decorated. Very large guest room. Comfy beds. Bathroom had a tub and shower. Used the shuttle service to airport and nearby areas - free and easy. Complimentary breakfast with hot and cold choices. Was able to take a little time to sit on my patio and enjoy the water view. Would especially recommend for travelers catching planes (only 10-12 minutes from the airport) or for a less expensive option to San Francisco which is only a short ferry ride or BART ride away.

My husband and I needed a place to stay in Oakland and were delighted with our stay at the Best Western Plus Bayside Hotel. We knew the hotel was parallel to the 880, however, once inside, we soon forgot that! The lobby is beautiful and looks like it was recently refurbished (as does the whole hotel). We were warmly greeted by Nicolas and Erin who checked us in with such a friendly manner, answered all our questions, and efficiently signed us up for the free shuttle service to OAK, knowing that we would need it the following morning. We were very impressed with their service and enthusiasm to make our stay the best! We reserved a king bed with a bay view and it was exactly as the pictures show on the hotel website. The room was very spacious, with a nice big seating area, luxury bath, microwave/refrigerator station, and a wonderful balcony facing the water. We totally enjoyed relaxing in this room! I couldn't believe that this GEM of hotel is in Oakland alongside a busy freeway! It's clean, quiet, and beautiful! The view of the water from our room was peaceful and felt miles away from a bustling city. I would definitely stay at this hotel again and book a room facing the water. The rooms rival some of the expensive hotels we've stayed at in SF for a fraction of the price. You will need a car to get around from this location, or you can utilize the free shuttle service to OAK, the BART, or Jack London shopping area. The hotel also serves a nice free breakfast.

This is a lovely hotel with very nice rooms. My room even had a lovely view of the water. Breakfast was excellent and included. Staff were friendly and helpful. Charles checked me in and out and was friendly and efficient. Lawrence spent a great deal of time with me the night before I left helping me sort out the best and most economical way to get to the SF airport from the hotel. That made my morning trip to the airport so much less stressful. Thank you Lawrence! Everything worked perfectly.

I stayed here for business as it fit my hotel night stay budget. Hotel is very nice and easy of the freeway. Great views of the bay. However, there was a musty odor in room 1, i was moved and room 2 was just as bad.

The staff is always very friendly and helpful and delighted to have you as their guests. This hotel does not disappoint. We feel and we are visiting family when we stay here. The view of the waterfront is peaceful and the rooms comfortable. The staff is always helpful in fulfilling room needs. Breakfasts are superb!

Took the train to Jack London Square, while enroute I called the hotel desk and they assured me that there would not be any issues, just call when we arrive, which we did and were promptly picked up. (Sometimes its hard to get a shuttle from train stations). The hotel staff were friendly, the lobby is large and inviting. Our room was on the second floor facing the bay, very quiet, room was clean, everything worked. One thing that caught me off guard was the vending machine. Normally hotels gouge every penny they can with these machines, and to see a can of Coke for a buck surprised me. The only recommendation i would suggest is new bedside lamps with additional 120v plugs and/or USB power sources. Upon our departure, we took the airport shuttle, and the service was great just like our arrival.

We stayed here with some folks from Minnesota. It was a lovely experience. The first night I needed a cab to meet some friends. The wait was too long. Chris got a lyft for me and I was able to meet my friends. Thank you so much Chris!!

Easy to find and next to the Executive Inns (which is actually cheaper but did not have availability for the room we wanted). Check in painless and waterside King room above our expectations - it is huge! Breakfast fairly good quality, I liked that milk and juices were available in small cartons and bottles rather than a jug or other open dispenser (not seen this before). Number of filter coffee options too. Marked down because the gym provided is not up to standard, too small with only one weights machine. Also marked down because even though they offer a free shuttle with designated times during the day and then phone to pick up from Lake Merritt BART in the evening, the driver drove past us at the BART station meaning we had to call again.

I have stayed at this hotel on several occasions. Enjoy sitting on the balcony and watching the boats on the Embarcadero in front of the hotel. Also the BBQ served at the adjoining hotel is tasty and reasonable. Also appreciate you can park your car in front for a week.

All staff we encountered were extremely helpful and nice. Great overall hotel experience. We received some special help from Lawrence the night of our check-in. After a snafu in which we discovered that we had made a reservation at the wrong location, we called your hotel and spoke with Lawrence. He was very helpful and reassured us that he would have no problem saving a room for us. When we checked in, he upgraded us to a nicer room, as it was our first stay there. He was also at the front desk when we checked out, and helped us with baggage check, as we needed to keep our luggage at the hotel for several hours. Lawrence is an excellent employee, and it is clear that he is proud of his hotel and loves his job.

Beautiful views, great accomodation, and very helpful and friendly staff. Rooms are large, view of the water is spectacular, and location is convenient to both airport and ferry to San Francisco. Highly recommend.

Upon checking in, there was a mixup with the room we had reserved over the phone and the room that was reserved in the system. However, Nick (front desk staff) graciously accommodated the change with absolutely no problem. He consistently went above and beyond throughout the rest of the stay as well -- fixing machines, re-magnetizing room keys, sending up anything and everything we needed to make our stay incredible. The hotel itself is alright, but I wouldn't come back for the infrastructure, I'd come back for Nick. Strongly recommend.

Love this place! The rooms are spacious with your own balcony over looking the water. The food at the hotel next door is awesome! You have a choice of Salmon or Steak and it is cooked to perfection not to mention the bartender makes some good drinks!

This hotel is on the waterfront in Oakland, opposite Alameda Island, with distant views of the San Francisco skyline. By use of the complimentary hotel shuttle (and their lovely drivers Enrique and Doris) it is convenient for Oakland Airport and for use of the BART system using Lake Merritt station for travel into SF. It is therefore well located as an alternative to staying in SF and for that reason (although not cheap) is also much cheaper than staying in a similar quality establishment in SF. The rooms are large and the fittings and equipment good including a comfortable bed and a large room safe. Our room on the 2nd floor was quiet, and had a lovely view from the balcony out over the water with amazing views of the sunset over SF. The public areas are large, airy and welcoming. Our room was spotlessly clean on arrival and cleaned thoroughly each day. The included typical American breakfast while not as extensive as some in Europe and the UK was good and there was a decent choice of nicely presented items in a pleasant breakfast room. All the staff whom we met, from reception to house-keeping staff, were always pleasant, smiling and helpful as well as the drivers mentioned above. We had no issues at all, and thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay here. Based on our experience we would recommend this hotel to anyone, and it is an excellent alternative to staying in SF. If visiting Oakland itself it would be no contest, and the shuttle also serves Jack London square in Oakland (which also has ferries across the bay to SF).

Horrible customer service created a nightmare honeymoon experience. I checked in to my room on the evening of Tuesday October 10th. I was looking forward to my wedding the following morning and then two uninterrupted nights with my husband. I was pleased that the front desk seemed so accommodating when I requested that the room be fully cleaned the next morning between 10 and 11am so that my bridesmaid could decorate it with rose peddles and candles. I was also thrilled to find an amazing view off a stellar patio. Unfortunately, this is where the good times ended. Wednesday morning by 11:30am it was clear that they were not coming to clean the room any time soon. My bridesmaid had to leave the wedding to go back to the hotel later in the day to do the decorating. When she arrived the room had barely been cleaned. There were dirty wet towels still strewn about the bathroom, and the garbage had not been cleaned up or taken out. She proceeded to finish their job for them and decorate for me. My husband and I arrived Wednesday evening after our wedding anticipating two uninterrupted days of privacy (we were to check out friday morning). Unfortunately this was not the case. We walked in to find our toilet broken. We called the front desk to inform them, however, we requested that they wait to send maintenance since it was our wedding night. The next morning we were woken up by the fire and carbon monoxide detector going off repeatedly at 9am. Maintenance was called and came to fix it. At this time we asked them to go ahead and fix the toilet since they were already in our room. We were told that they would return with the part they needed to fix it; They never fixed the toilet. About an hour later we received a call stating that our water would be turned off from noon until 2pm. We decided to go out for lunch for that time since we couldn't use the whirlpool tub we had paid to upgrade to. When we returned from lunch I attempted to run a bath, only to find brown water filling the tub. Once again maIntenance was called. They came in and worked on it for awhile then told us it was fixed. When I went back into the bathroom I found that they had made no attempt to clean the disgusting residue that was covering the tub and we still had to run the water for a few hours on and off to get it to run clear. About this time I went to the front desk and requested to speak with a manager. I was told that there was no manager on site but that they could help me there. I explained to them our situation and asked what they were going to do to make up for ruining our honeymoon. I was told that they were "sorry for the inconvenience" . What they offered was insulting, I was offered a free dinner in their restaurant or we could stay another night for "just $100 more". I told them that this was unacceptable and was told there was nothing they could do since I had booked online. I then went back to the room and called the booking agent. After about 3 hours on the phone with various "supervisors" we were finally offered one night of our stay for free. While we appreciate the gesture it in no way makes up for the fact that our honeymoon was absolutely ruined.

I stay at 3 different Best Western while I was in California on vacation. And the Bayside Hotel was the best. Friendly staff, the room, the view. Everything was excellent. If I ever go back I will definitely stay there again.

We loved our stay here. We're a couple in our 30s, and we flew to Oakland International Airport from the UK. We chose this wonderful hotel as the first stop of our Californian road trip. The hotel itself is about 20-25 min away from Oakland International Airport, and there's a free shuttle which can take you to & from the airport and the ferry port. The ferry port is about a 10-15 min away in the car, and the ferry ride into San Francisco is absolutely fabulous, and probably the best way to get there. It took about 45 min and was an attraction in itself! It was really exciting approaching the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz. We loved the hotel's complimentary coffee station which was available in the lobby 24/7. Breakfast was lovely (we enjoyed the burritos, waffles and oatmeal station!). Staff were always friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our evening meals at the sister hotel next door (the steak and salmon is exceptional, and excellent value too.) The hotel room was lovely and spacious and very relaxing. The best thing was the water view from our hotel; we even saw a seal bobbing along in the bay outside. We enjoyed the most beautiful sunsets (I took lots of photos!) and could see the silhouette of the San Francisco skyline in the distance. If you're planning a trip to San Francisco and you're looking for a hotel which is close to the airport and a quiet base away from the hustle and bustle of the city then stay here. We loved it!

I love this hotel and stay here whenever I'm in the Bay. The service is great, the security is vigilant, the design and layout are lovely. Even though it's next to the highway, it's lined by the water and this cute park on the water side, which gives great sunlight and serenity during the day. The rooms are well appointed with desks, there's 24/7 tea and coffee, good breakfast, and it's super easy to get into San Francisco without paying crazy high prices. The service has always been excellent to me, even when there was some confusion with my reservation they were super nice and helped fix it. Would recommend this hotel to anyone that wants quality and peace without the expensive price. A+ Chris at the front desk was especially helpful!!

We had a nice room with view of beautiful estuary. Enjoyed the peace and quiet even in the midst of the urban, busy Bay Area. Close to two restaurants: Quinn's Lighthouse is within walking distance, and Dragon Rouge is a short drive.

We had a great stay at the Best Western Bayside hotel. Lawrence, Jay and the staff could not do enough for you. Good Breakfast and 25min walk to the BART station into San Fran. Close to the highway but the rooms were well insulated and the view over the lake is lovely. Plenty of free parking too, which was a real bonus. Great food (Steak/Salmon) served next door.

Laurence was the friendly, warm smiling face that asked "can I help you?" And he meant it! Honestly the stay for one night felt like a getaway weekend! The room was perfect and I didn't have to be concerned about anything. I highly recommend The Best Western Plus Bayside Hotel. Look or ask for Laurence he'll take excellent care of you.

This is a review I tried posting a few months ago, but there was a glitch in the system, and it didn't post. So I'm giving it another try. I want to take a moment to thank the team at the Best Western Plus Bayside Hotel in Oakland, CA for their amazing hospitality, both during the reservation process and during my stay. My brother and I were on a business trip in early June and stayed at the Best Western. We can't say enough good things about the hotel property, and there are many things for which we want to thank the manager (who is outstanding) and his team. The reservations team was very helpful and patient, including Vanessa, Anne Marie, and Tony. The hotel property is beautiful. From the warm welcome from the hotel reception when you step into the lobby, to the beautiful view of the estuary that greets you from the other side of the room, you know you're in a special place. The room was also wonderful. It was spacious with great amenities. As business travelers, we very much appreciated having a refrigerator and microwave in the room. Having bags of Numi tea in the room was also a special touch. (And the rooms with balconies that face the estuary (even those with partial views) are very special.) We want to extend a special thanks to the grounds and housekeeping teams. They keep the hotel immaculate. We want to also thank those who ensure there's always fresh fruit and coffee and tea available in the lobby. Again, as a business traveler, this is something I really appreciated. Being able to grab a fresh piece of fruit and a hot tea on my way up to my room at the end of a long day made me feel like I was at home. Thanks also to the morning breakfast team. The selection of breakfast foods and drinks was great (and it was so nice to have hot items as part of the breakfast offerings). The breakfast team was on top of everything, and they were always pleasant. They never missed a beat and continually kept everything well stocked. Having this upgraded continental breakfast included with the room was a real treat. Speaking of food, we want to include a special thanks to Jorge S., the chef at the restaurant that had been temporarily relocated to the Best Western while the sister property was undergoing lobby renovations. The steak and salmon he grills are among the best we've had, including from some of the finest restaurants! At every level and across the hotel, the team and hospitality were outstanding. The outstanding hospitality combined with the great accommodations, upgraded continental breakfast included in the room rate, free parking, free shuttle to nearby locations (including BART and the Oakland ferry), and the beautiful scenery overlooking the estuary, make the hotel truly a hidden gem. We're already looking forward to our next stay!

Checked into this property for the stay & fly 9/24/17. Returned from vacation on 9/30/17 with my car stolen and memebers of BW unable to figure out what happen. Apparently for months servalliance cameras hasn't been working. Waited 3 hours for Oakland PD. I requested that BW accomodate us for the night due to the fact it was already 10:00pm and a 3 hours drive home. They gave me a rate of $199. Than later gave me a complintary room after learning that I was a platium member. Such a horrrfic experience.

My friend and I stayed in Oakland for the business. My first impression for this hotel wasn't great. I felt like the location is not so safe. As soon as I step into the lobby, my guts tells me I chose the right hotel. The view of the estuary are simply beautiful. I love the front desk staff, always had their smile on. I regretted that I booked a room on the city side. After talk to Laurence at front desk, he was able to find a room for me with a partial water view. Thank you Laurence, I had a great stay. By the way, the breakfast was amazing.

The Best Western Plus Bayside Hotel in Oakland California provides a scenic water view with a balcony to take in that scenery. This quiet hotel has exceptional staff to help travelers feel calm at the edge of a busy city. Breakfast was very well delivered - Gabriella manages that area very well. No restaurant at or within walking distance of the hotel was the only drawback.

I asked for (twice, by phone and online), specified in my reservation and paid for a King bed with water view room on an upper floor not on a corner. When I arrived, I was given a first floor corner room with a Queen bed and a jacuzzi tub (not wanted or used). The room was not clean in several areas such as the dirty throw at the foot of the bed, dirty front and handle of the microwave, dirty bathroom sink counter and peeling wallpaper over the tub. I am VERY disssatisfied with this Best Western stay! Additionally, the rate was extremely exorbitant for what I received.

We were only in town for one night but thought this was a great hotel. The room was huge with a great view of the water from our balcony. Free self parking worked great for us, they even allowed us to park early before checking in so we could make it to the raiders game and not worry about where to leave our car. We didn't take advantage of all the amenities they offered but we were informed that they have a complimentary shuttle to the airport and some close by entertainment. The check in and out was quick and the front desk was very friendly.

Great location on the water. Hotel was very clean and staff very helpful. Places to eat were few in the area so you had to go out of the area for some variety Staff were more than willing to give directions to other eateries in the area. Daily newspapers are alway available.

I stay in a lot of moderately-priced hotels and this hotel provided one of the top experiences I've had. I had Room 270, with a King bed and a balcony with a lovely view of the water and government island beyond. In the evening I heard a single trumpet signalling the end of the day over on the island. I had a partial view of the SF skyline as well. There is a bike/walking path below the balconies, along the water. Inside the hotel there is a spacious breakfast area, where breakfast goes til 10 am every day. I did not get to try the breakfast, but it looked like the normal fare of fruits, yogurt, breads, pastries, and breakfast meats. Coffee and fruit are available 24/7. The hotel was very convenient to the 880 freeway. The room itself was spacious with a large bathroom with oversized tub and separate shower. Nice toiletries. The toilet was in a separate, spacious room. There were two robes in the closet for guest use. The room was impeccably clean. I did not see one spot of dirt or damage except for a tiny hole & crack in the sink where someone obviously dropped something heavy. There was a safe in the room, microwave, fridge, two phones, flat screen TV, office supplies such as stapler in the desk, and lots of USB ports and electrical outlets. There was free water in the room and lots of free bottles of water in the fitness room. The fitness room had all new equipment and everything worked (always a plus!), but there was just one of each large piece (stepper, treadmill, etc.) The staff was friendly and welcoming, except for the man who did the night shift. Nice soft jazz played in the large lobby and there was a seating area both inside and outside, again with a pleasing view of the water. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone and would love to return in the future.

We only had the one night to stay and this hotel was an excellent choice. The room was very large with a balcony and wonderful water view. The weather cooperated so we were able to sit outside and watch the rowing teams stream by. We also took advantage of the hot tub at the swimming center. We highly recommend this hotel for price, comfort and amenities.

It was okay overall. But instead of. Queen room with a balcony, we were given a Murphy bed with a patio. The bed was uncomfortable. For our anniversary, it would have been nice to get what we asked for.

A very clean and well maintained facility. However, does not justify the outrageously high rates. It also has limited access to nearby restaurants. the view of the water from the room was also very picturesque.

Beautiful setting, peaceful sound-proofed building, no blaring TV breakfast area! Pleasant, courteous staff including housekeeping. Vanessa at the front counter is notably efficient, personable and helpful. Water-side rooms are a wonderful respite. Walking distance to Quinn's Lighthouse restaurant, a consistently good eatery.

This review is for several reasons...first to publically thank Lawrence who was at the front desk when I called in very tardy somewhat desperate to book a room on Labor Day. Had visited the property when an associate had worked in the area and have an assignment that was very late in coming and short time available to make reservations. Lawrence was helpful and showed great patience in helping me book my time here. It has been a pleasure to interact with him since arriving and he has continued to be most personable and gracious. The room that was assigned to me is large with a very nice bay view, the furnishings appear to be well used and enjoyed by prior guests...and clean for me. Closet is large and accommodating and just love the large oval bathtub...(big enough for a few) ...but...not limited to a tub a large shower area also is included in the room it is large enough for me to comfortable live in...for months if I needed to! Breakfast changes daily with many choices...Yes some are healthy...Thank you Best Western!

Great hotel close to the heart of San Francisco, yet quiet, with real easy links to restaurants, BART and attractions. The best part of the hotel is the shuttle, real easy to use. There are some real nice restaurants around. Despite the proximity of the freeway, our room was nice and quiet. Nice gym, great breakfast, freiendly staff and avoids stupid parking charges in San Francisco. If we come again we would stay here.

It's your basic hotel with more square footage in the room. Large bathrooms, 500 sq ft rooms, so nicely sized for 3 ppl + a baby to share a room. I could've sworn I booked a bay-view room, but the front desk showed me the "Relaxing City View" option Orbitz gave me (which translates to a parking lot & the freeway) on a sold-out weekend. The pool advertised is shared between this hotel and the hotel next door and it's quite small. It was so crowded all 3 nights we were there that I never got to take my 10-month-old for a swim. The view to Alameda is beautiful. Rooms are very clean. Staff is nice. Free breakfast & parking, so no complaints here.

We are locals and stayed at the hotel for 3 nights because of extreme temperature (105) and no home air conditioner. The hotel is right on the Oakland estuary and has a lovely walk to the Marina behind it. The area across the freeway, not easily acessible, is a sketchy, but it did not affect the feeling of well being at the hotel. The rooms were large, comfortable and well appointed. The dinner (steak or salmon only) at the sister hotel bar next door was very good and a great value at $16.95 and probably would cost 2x as much elsewhere.

Just stayed one night as I had a business meeting early the next morning. Very clean, great staff, huge room. Had a view of the water and a nice balcony. The staff person at the front desk was wonderful. Felt very safe there as I was traveling by myself. Will definitely stay again!

We stayed at the hotel for two nights, Aug. 25 and 26. Overall, the hotel was great - large clean room, view of the water, etc. What stood out, however, was how helpful, warm and friendly Erin was when she checked us in, late on Saturday evening. She made an effort to find the best room for us and made sure we were happy with it. We felt she gave us her full attention for as long as we needed it. It was our interaction with her that would keep this hotel in my mind for the next time we need to find a place in Oakland.

Needed a place to stay for a day/night near Oakland airport. The location and shuttle service made it easy to hop Bart/Ferry to San Francisco, as well as Jack London Square. Their breakfast buffet was perfect way for our family to start the day, sitting at the outside patio, overlooking the River. The staff was extremely friendly, answered all my questions, and took care of us. Very customer oriented.

Our hotel room was huge - plenty of space for 2 double beds and a sofa (which converts into an uncomfortable bed - we had to bribe our youngest teenager to selep on it for our 5 night stay). We had a balcony with chairs and a view of the bay - far better than the City View rooms which have views of the carpark, roads and railway line - and a large bathroom but what let the room down was the poor lighting. Other than by the front door there was no overhead lighting in the bedroom area so it was impossible to read a book in the evening and the light from the lamps wasn't bright enough. Parking was good and free. WiFi was free but not very fast. Breakfast was OK but for a longer stay there wasn't enough variety.
