Stayed in this hotel in October 2018. Booked the hotel through phone call. Hotel is located near major highways, close to NY City. Staff is very friendly, make every efforts to make stay comfortable starting from check in to express check out. Room was very clean and bed mattress was excellent. Hot and fresh breakfast was available, the attendant had smile of the face. I would recommend anyone to stay at this hotel, either for business or leisure trip to this area.

We have stayed here several times over the past 15 years. The Inn has been recently renovated all to the better. New breakfast area is much better. Biggies Restaurant adjoining the Inn is also good for good pub fare (great Manhattan Clam chowder). Our room was in the 200s in the back (recommend b/c the front rooms get highway noise). Our room heater gave off horrendous sounds, and after very quickly coming to try to fix, when that didn't work, they quickly moved us to another room. (fortunately one next door was available.

My Asian-born wife and I were touring USA and we only needed a place to sleep, shower, and eat breakfast; but we also wanted some place nice that would let us feel like we were on vacation in a “foreign” country, which for my wife who had never been to America, it was! Sadly, this motel did not quite fit the bill. To be sure, the room was clean and the bed comfortable; the staff was friendly and helpful; and breakfast was very good, BUT…. The hotel/motel was definitely not modern; NO ELEVATOR to the second floor which we were on; the paint was peeling in some places; and it just felt worn out, tired! It was adequate/alright, but for the money, we've had better!

"Just the basics"

Recently stayed one night in king size room. Floors are slanted throughout the building including hallways and my room. Bathroom cramped for space. Breakfast was better than most other similar type of this hotel. One word of caution though to couples- the walls are paper thin and if u are in the mood to play please turn up the tv volume. I heard more than I wanted to that morning.

Helpful and friendly check in staff. Room was fairly clean and the bed very comfortable. AC was very noisy and you could hear a lot of noise in other rooms. Breakfast was basic but quite acceptable. Would be happy to stay here again if in this area.

Location is right on route 17 with ample parking. The staff is present and eager to please. The rooms are clean, well lit, with a quiet a/c unit. There is a small fitness room with almost new treadmill, eliptical and stationery bike although the TV monitor did not have the same channels as the room TVs. Breakfast provided usual choices. The hallway carpets are dated but clean as would any hotel in this area with this much foot traffic. There is a bar/lounge/restaurant attached to the lobby and there are many department stores, pharmacies, coffee places, eateries along route 17.

Upon entering the hotel the staff was courteous and prompt in locating our reservation and directions to the room were precise we were informed about all the relevant information, The room was nice decor was perfect and location of the essential stuff was well set everything was spic and span just the way we like breakfast was excellent . Didnt have no issues whatsoever with any aspect of hotel stay , Definitely will stay at best western at ramsey NJ again when I come to this area.

Had stayed at this facility a few years back when on an extended business trip and has an excellent experience.This time I was on vacation and boy has this place declined. Place is clean, staff is pleasant, Facility exterior and halls have been redone, rooms were dated.Skip the free breakfast. You can do better at the Golden Arches down the street

We recently stayed here for 2 nights on a bus tour. I was pleasantly surprised. Everything was just as you'd expect from a Best Western.. Clean rooms, clean hotel... Our room was very clean and stylish. We had 2 double beds in our room and both were comfy, clean with nice comfy pillows. The bathroom was nice and spacious with nice complimentary shampoos, conditioners, soap and lotions from La Coupe. Water pressure in the shower was perfect too. The complimentary breakfast buffet had : eggs, sausage, potatoes, bread/bagels/English muffins, some danishes and mini muffins, dry cereal, fruit, coffee, juice and a waffle maker. The lady at the breakfast was very friendly. The hotel area was always clean.. There was free wifi! I have nothing to complain about!! Would definitely return here!

Hotel building shows its age - floor in our second-floor bedroom had a definite slope to it, and there is no elevator. Breakfast room was extremely crowded, and food was not re-stocked as it was eaten.

Room and staff were great. Stayed 4 nights. First breakfast was great. Second morning it looked like a bomb went off. Very busy. No clean tables, no food left in chafing dishes, no regular coffee. Third morning was ok. Fourth morning, Monday, had to wait for attendant to refill food (eggs), and other items. Breakfast was not the best experience.

The room was clean and comfortable. The bed provided a good sleep. The satellite TV as a little sketchy because of the weather but otherwise it was a good picture. The lobby can use a little work as it is small and often crowded and the coffee station ends up in disarray, not due to lack of maintenance but the amount of traffic. The breakfast could be better organized as they seemed to use the function room from the attached restaurant for the weekends. The poor, lone attendant could barely keep up with the traffic and the room is not designed to provide buffet service. The other odd this is that the floors on the first floor are slanted. I could roll a golf ball from the wall to the door without pushing it.

I have stayed here in the past and was complaining about a few things other than the breakfast. I refused to come back until changes were made. I finally came back and the changes have been made. There is an upgrade to the hallways and the flooring and the bedroom wall paper which is nice but I thik the color is not delightfull just soso. It would have been better had you asked your customers what coilrs would best suit them and from the list given pick on or 2 colors and patterns. The colors illumnate which is good but it doesn't give a bang to the look. It is an improvement however. You need to work on the exit and entrance doors. The front entrance door is always awkward to open and the exit doors are old fashion surely you can do better to help the enhancement of the hallways by changing the doors and keeping the fire code in tact. The buffet is always the headliner here. The staff working the bufett is always on point and willing to assist. I am going to ask her name if i stay here again. She is about 5'5 latina dark hair heavy accent and was working on july 15 in the am. Very pleasent person and she deserves to be recognized.

Had to visit New Jersey to see my mother, we arrived a day early and the hotel made accommodations for us (we were scheduled for a seven day stay). The reason why I gave it a three is because they charged me extra for the last minute change. So I'm tossed between given it a great review or a poor review. They're renovating the hotel so there are dusty hallways and office equipment all over the place. There is no elevator so if your room is on the second floor your trudging your luggage. Not sure if I'd stay there again. We spent a lot of money for six days to not be fully satisfied.

We usually stay at the Hampton Inn or something equivilant so I was skeptical when booking our reservation. We were very pleased with the cleanliness of the Inn and the staff were friendly and courteous. The restaurant's Happy Hour was great and the breakfast buffet was good too!

I needed a quick stay close to Mahwah for a business meeting. The location was perfect since it was right off the highway 17. I work for a small business that pays up to a certain amount for business trips, so I was able to cover my expenses there. Luckily, I saved up on breakfast, as well, and picked some coffee to go. Otherwise, stay was good and quiet apart from the Memorial day celebrations. Bed was comfy (though I had to ask for more pillows), wifi was fast enough, and service was efficient. Above average stay.

Stayed here for a family funeral... was berated at checkin by manager/owner? for booking through AAA... told me they would have matched the price... UNPLEASANT! and we are BW club members but couldn't get reward points because we DIDN'T book directly (for a higher rate!) By morning the room reeked of residual stale smoke.. especially in the bathroom! in our non- smoking room... Reported this to front desk when we left... no offer of compensation—- even after replying to the standard BW corporate follow up..... NOT the cheapest choice available.... am REALLY losing confidence in the brand!

I believe the hotel was doing some renovations so parkng was a bit of an issue when returning at 11 pm. The rooms were ok, no small table to eat at in your room and kind of dreary inside the room. The heater was a little loud. The staff was friendly and the continental breakfast was good, lots of choices.

The staff were incredibly professional, polite and willing to assist with any of my questions or if they saw me trying to get my bags into the room. The hotel is going through renovations, but I would not have known if I hadn't seen it and what is completed looks great.

"A really great Hotel"

I found this particular Best Western to be a very good hotel the parking lot was a little bit tight but other than that it was a great place to stay. It has an on-site restaurant which also has a bar, you don't have to leave the building. You go down the hall and it connects directly to the lounge. I found the security was very good also. You must have your key if you leave the building. Your room key is required, to get in any of the doors other than the front lobby.

my overnight getaway at Best Western was very comfortable and relaxing. The hallways and rooms are being up-dated so part of the motel was quite a mess. My room was very clean and comfortable with no noise at all. the breakfast is not bad at all. i would definitely stay again!

Always clean. Biggies right across the hall, great breakfast. Always need a get away just for the jetted tub and for that you want a clean place. Best Western quality and comfort that you expect at an affordable price. This specific hotel has recently been renovated. There are still some outdated parts of the hotel, but the rooms and bathrooms seem to have all been redone and are extremely clean, comfortable and modern. Staff at the front desk were extremely polite, friendly and helpful for check-in and check-out. Definitely recommend.

The hotel seemed to be under construction. Hotel certainly needs an upgrade. There was no elevator in the hotel. The staff were very good. The breakfast was good and the kitchen staff were good. Probably would not stay there again

We stayed here overnight for the holidays. The hotel is easy to find off of 17. It's not walking distance to any restaurants but we had pizza delivered to our room. The bathroom with the jetted tub was a hoot. The room is a throw back to the 80s but its clean.Breakfast was okay.

Upfront I will say that I filed a police report, and moved to another hotel. This Christmas we were looking to stay local to my in-laws, and were looking for a hotel that would take pets, and have at least one meal accessible to us on Christmas Day. I went to check my original choice, to see what the rooms were like and what the restaurant would be serving on Christmas Day. I found that the restaurant would be closed, so I needed a different place to stay. That's when I found a great rate for Best Western Inn at Ramsey, and proceeded to drive across town to secure the room. As I was discussing Stay Logistics with Henish, we discussed the pet fee of $20/night/pet. I was looking for two nights, and I have two dogs... So essentially $80. One of my dog's is 9 pounds, so of course I asked if I could save one of the pet fees. Here's where it gets hinky. Henish looked at me and asked - as he arched his eyebrow and smiled at me... 'what are you going to do for me?' My response was rather startled, but I replied what could you be talking about... I can't do anything inappropriate, right?? I'm a mom I'm a wife what do you mean? And brushed it off as joke as we continue to discuss my being able to just pay $40 instead of 80. It looked like he was going to make that decision for me, and asked if I wanted to see the rooms. I did, and he then asked if i wanted him to show me or someone else. I replied that he could or whomever if he was busy. He said, he would then. We walked down the hallway, and discussed that the first room's phone didn't work. I took a quick look at both and we walked back to the front desk. I asked again about just paying for one pet. He said he wanted to show me another room on the second floor. As we got to the second room, I had my foot in the door, and Henish asked me to remove my foot so that the cameras would not see and hear us talk about the pet fee. I did, he opened his arms up, and asked me for a hug. I was startled and awkwardly did, then backed up to open the door and get out. He told me that I didn't give him a very good hug, and I said something like, it was because I'm married and I'm a mother and why would he want a better hug in the first place. As we walk down the stairs I kept asking if he wanted me to bring him Christmas dinner or some cookies or something for doing this favor for me about the one pet. He shook his head no, that he didn't want anything; but then let me know that he would put me down for one pet but if I was seen and questioned, that he would have to charge me for two. I replied, of course and I would never cuz issue saying that he guaranteed me anything. I may have mistated regarding the timing and the location of his hug request. He may have done that in the hallway between the Lobby and the stairs. Here's the other really awful thing. I responded to him in a way that I used as a means of coping while being molested multiple times as a child into my preteen years. Another person with different instincts could respond very differently. 40 years fell away, and in an instant I was back in a flight can't fight -- mindframe. It took me a day to process, and on Christmas Eve I spoke to corporate offices to provide my feedback. I didn't know if I was going to be able to find another room at another hotel that would accept pets. I have a very difficult situation that I'm going through with my family, and I wanted no mention of this to upset the apple cart so to speak. So when I spoke with the customer service specialist who took my inquiry, I was not even thinking about my self care. I have since spoken to a customer service manager at corporate offices and provided my feedback about sensitivity training for incoming feedback such as mine. I called in 4 times with different information, and the first 2 customer service specialists who helped me were really difficult; and I was actually in hysterics. I did file a police report, the hotel did refund my money through the online booking group that I used, and I did stay somewhere else. Corporate offices will work with the locations management to review this incident. As I was processing this, I realized that as quickly as he asked what he did, and as openly... likely means that he's done this more than one time and is getting away with it. Ironically, when I was speaking about this with another person in the industry/that general location, (and who obviously does not want to go on record)... they stopped me mid-sentence to tell me that they knew who I was talking about and what hotel I was talking about and even what had happened to me. So here's the thing... I'm not providing she said/he said information, I'm stating what happened to me, and what was told to me about Henish. When I called back to report what was going on, I also indicated that i would pay the $80 if I stayed there ( if I couldn't find another hotel for two nights on Christmas Eve and Christmas). Was I wrong to have asked to avoid the extra pet fee? Regardless of that... in no way should I have to experience giving somebody a sexual favor in return for saving any amount of money. I certainly hope that this helps any other Traveler that might come across this situation at this location. I also hope that this helps everyone involved to a better path forward, change whatever they need to, and to live a better life. But I'll tell you what, I won't be staying at the Best Western Inn at Ramsey ever again, and neither will anyone I know.

First, the staff is great here. Warm, friendly, genuinely want to help. The property is tired though. The halls, the rooms, etc. The room was clean but the bathroom door didn't fully shut, the beds were not comfortable and the decor dark. If we had gotten a great rate here, I would say it's what you expect. However, it wasn't a low rate.

This was my first stay at this hotel and the room was decent and the price was reasonable. I booked the room online for about $88 plus tax. The lady that I called at the hotel told me $119 and I had trouble understanding her. When I checked in Henish was very nice and helpful. I appreciate that he gave me an upgrade and let us check in early. Even he was surprised that the rate I was given was so high. I asked for towels and never got any. I did ask for my sheets to be changed and they were changed in a timely manner. But the nearby rooms stunk and there were guys painting and hammering and it was loud and it was distracting and I didn't really like the extra noise. Bottom line is: I did enjoy the room and I was satisfied with the price I paid. I would give this hotel another chance but only when the construction and/or painting is complete. Since I'm a huge Best Western fan and I'm a Diamond Select member, I would come back just for the fact that it's one of their properties and I usually get treated pretty well and I did this time around

First time staying here was recommended by a friend and was everything needed for a good quality stay. Rooms were clean, food was excellent. Staff was friendly and helpful. Great location to the train to go into NYC just a bit of a disappointed that you have to transfer trains.

Rooms were clean, but the hallways and stairs were dirty. Staff was nice. Breakfast was not the best, no vegetables, same things every day, all artificial. AC was really loud, i had problems sleeping. For one night it's fine, I don't recommend longer stay.

Greeted with "why did you book through AAA instead of directly with Best Western?" and getting the room furthest away from the lobby..... Ending with realizing our room was only currently "smoke free" but reeking of previous cigarette usage (seems that using the "low water pressure" shower must have humidified the latent smoke) DISGUSTING!.... Reported to front desk at checkout--have not heard from them (guess they don't care!)..... Do NOT go "WEST"

This was a very low grade Best Western hotel. It had a pungent odor throughout and was not what I have come to expect out of Best Western hotels. The room and hall ways smelled. Hotel workers hovered around the back door smoking which you had to walk through their smoke. The hall and actual room had uneven flooring. The carpets were actually laid down over uneven floors which for a person with challenged walking or imbalance would have been a real hazard.

The room i had stayed in was clean, cozy, and comfortable. This particular location has up-dated the rooms with new bedding and furniture. The lobby is very nice and welcoming. The hallways leading to the rooms are very clean and neat and looks brand new. Nice color schemes.

"Pretty Decent"

The hotel is located just off of RT 17- Southbound in Ramsey, NJ. It is a bit obscure due to the trees surrounding the area and one may miss the hotel if they're speeding along the highway. During our stay we had the One-King sized bed with the Jacuzzi. We had no problems with the staff or our neighbors, but we did have two main gripes: no water pressure due to maintenance being done and our pillows being too fluffy and small. We expected the water maintenance to take a while because we were alerted by the staff at check-in and was given a heads-up. As for the pillows, my girlfriend and I are used to sleeping on bigger, firmer pillows that the ones provided at BW - in the end we ultimately ended sleeping without pillows. Overall, our stay was pretty decent and well worth the price paid for a BW rewards member.

Both rooms I had were dirty and smelled funky. Only after I checked in I learned that they accept pets, so that's probably why, I mean who knows what's in the carpet... when I told the hotel staff they cared a whole none at all!

My daughter got into bed at 10pm and was greeted by a used condom with pubic hairs between the sheets. The management considered it a courtesy to change our room late at night. They never even came and took a look at the bed. No compensation or remorse whatsoever. The next morning a staff member had their face pushed into our truck window. He acted like he didn't speak English when my husband confronted him at our vehicle. Disgrace to the Brand. Filthy,unprofessional and disgusting.

Horrible washroom, smelly carpets and unfriendly staff. Imagine your bath water not going down while you are on your period... It was a nightmare. No hot water and no pressure in the shower. I could not even make none of this up if I wanted to. They gave us another room after we complained but it was still the most horrible hotel stay ever.

I was here on a business trip. The internet was extremely fast and the staff was also very helpful. there are housekeepers that are working till almost 11 pm so they helped me out with anything i needed. the continental break fast is great and the restaurant also offers room service. This hotel is an overall luxury place, especially with the Jacuzzi bath tubs. loved my stay and definitely coming back for leisure this time.

Although we made our reservations in July, the desk clerk told us that "the category of room" (2 beds was all we needed) we had reserved had been discontinued last month. He said that he tried to contact us that morning, and somehow tried to make it our fault rhat we didn't answer the phone while.we were on a plane. We accepted the room with the offer of a roll away. The roll away made it impossible to move around the room, and the hotel staff stacked the coffee table on top of the desk. And

The hotel was very comfortable and staff were very pleasant. A lot of restaurants nearby including one attached to the hotel. The hotel was near the places we were spending time at and easy to access. The wifi was a bit slow to connect each night but fine after that. Very nice bathroom facilities including a sauna and large walk-in shower.

"solid property but terrible customer service"

I was on the road traveling to Ramsey, NJ and tried to book my ticket online but the site kept timing out so I called the hotel directly. After the phone ringing and ringing, the hotel picked up and put me on hold without speaking. After being on hold for 5 full minutes (I timed it), I got an employee who tried to talk me into hanging up and booking online. He couldn't find a record of my previous stays, so I started from the beginning. When I asked for clarification on the price, he just repeated the same sentence over and over again, acting as if I didn't understand English. He got so frustrated that he told me to find another place to stay.

I will definitely stay at Best western Hotel again. The staff were polite, courteous and patient, often recommending sights to see and places to have meals, as well as answered our millions of questions. The rooms were beautiful and clean, the room rates were reasonable. I would highly recommend to anyone to stay at this hotel.

This hotel is great it's clean and offers an amazing assorted breakfast items also spa tub and separate shower rooms are great ,the staff is friendly ,and hard working I travel 40mins out of my way to stay at this hotel beacause of the quality of the room, breakfast, Wi-Fi,staff,safe neighborhood,and close to all shopping it's an amazing place to stay I'm very pleased and I recommend this hotel and to get the room with jet tub separate shower treat your self for the extra 20 dollars difference in price why not enjoy a relaxing stay

The BW has some pluses and minuses that make it an average hotel. The pluses were a nice and comfortable king size bed along with a jetted tub in the room. The minuses include needing a remodel. The shower drain was terrible and the shower pan needs replacement. Wallpaper is peeling away from the walls. The breakfast includes hot food (when they have it available apparently) but is in a bar of a restaurant.

This hotel is under updating (painting) both on the inside and out. It is not conducive to the handicapped as there is no elevator to the 2nd floor rooms and the reception area and breakfast area are far away from the rooms. The rooms themselves are ok but didn't appreciate being woken up at 2 am by the garbage trucks right outside my window. Breakfast was ok but not terrific.

This was very clean and nice looking lobby and room. I liked the big flat screen TV. The bed was really comfy, I had a good sleep. The restaurant (Biggies) had good food. I would definitely stay here again if I am in this area.

Folks. This is quite a special property. There is a restaurant/lounge in the building that is very good. Food service and value all good. The room was amazing. The hotel is connected to a nice restaurant/bar, Biggie's. It was convenient as we had a late dinner, the wait staff was very friendly and nice. We had free breakfast at the hotel in the morning. Great!

poor very unhappy my room ran downhill from window t door outside my room floor was cracked and coming up bathroom was very small hallways had an order. I would not ever stay here as there is a double tree right down the road.

The hotel is good, the carpet in the corridors is very old, however i had a very nice surprise when I opened my bedroom door. The room is large, comfortable, clean, had a great fridge, microwave and coffee maker. I asked for a quiet room and they gave me one (when talking about outside noise). The AC inside the room was very noisy . Next morning i mentioned to front desk and she happily said they will always move me in a case like this. I decided to give them four stars, because i feel that it was above average for this price point in that area. I will stay there again

Dirty room smelled like mold, blood on the door of the bathroom and the shower curtains and towel had blood stains. My room had holes in the wall and alot of nasty crap in the rug in the corners. Wanted to leave but i couldent get a room else were close by on short notice.

This place is great for business and leisure. Every time i come to Ramsey, i always stay here. it is quiet and has a positive atmosphere, and staff are always nice. They have a full breakfast with many varieties available to eat and they have a restaurant and bar that provides room service. Internet is high speed and always helps while doing work online.

This hotel is located on a busy, noisy road. We asked for a quiet room and got one, which was good. The accommodations and amenities are good. The room is comfortable; the bed was very good. Breakfast was one of the better ones I've had in my travels. Though the hallways seemed a little run-down, the room was nicely updated.

This hotel is right on a very busy highway, but the room was quiet and it was ideal for our needs. The staff were quite friendly. We particularly enjoyed the breakfast which was varied and good quality. The only trouble we had was with providing ID on arrival (licences are preferred to passports) and also with our room keys (cards which regularly stopped working).

I came last-minute for a business meeting and actually had a positive stay from check-in to check-out. Wifi was good, bed/linen was well selected, a/c worked, and had a hot shower. Didn't use the tv/hot tub, but overall a good experience as usual. Difficult to find consistency in this price range but Hank and Charlie (receptionists) and the rest of the team do a great job running the place.

Convenient location - located on highway but not noisy. Very comfortable bed and spacious room. Good pice - we compared it to otehr hotels in teh area that we often stay at and this weekend Best Western had teh best price. We like having breakfast included. The only issue is that there is not an elevator to second floor

Made a reservation by phone and explained my wife and my needs, was assured they could fill those needs. Because of an illness I checked in alone, non of those needs were met. Rooms are old and outdated, it is a multi store building and as a reference, there is NO elevator, handicap parking is at a premium and nothing is done when abused. The only thing they have going for them is the have a "Biggies" resturant.

This property offered a decent price and advertised a continental breakfast. We were pleasantly surprised to find that they provided a FULL breakfast that was quite tasty! The eggs were better than they are at many other hotels and were offered scrambled plain or with peppers (and no meat in the eggs, which was very much appreciated!) There were cereals, breads, yogurts, fresh fruits, etc. The lady working the breakfast duty was very friendly! I also liked that there was an extra layer of security by requiring guests to use their room keys to get into the corridor of guest rooms. The room had a fridge and fast internet. I would stay here again!

This place was exactly what I look for in a 2 day, in and out business trip. The place was quiet, clean and I slept great. The only negative I could find is the parking lot gets jammed because of the attached restaurant.

My wife and I were just passing through town for one night, and the price was reasonable online. They were doing some outdoor renovation work at the entrance, but the main doors were still easily accessible. The check-in process was fine. The room was what you would expect for a BW -- clean, comfortable, nothing spectacular.

Recently renovated interior really makes these rooms feel like new and a higher caliber than previously. You cannot beat the price of these rooms either.! And they have an excellent hot buffet breakfast which is included !

Arrived after a 5 hour drive, noticed the mirror wasn't clean (see picture). Also noticed that the bathroom had seen better days. (See picture) did a check on the rest of room, it didn't look too bad. Woke up in the morning feeling like something was crawling on me, jumped out of bed to find ants in the bed! Gathered my stuff up and went to front desk to tell them and check out. When I told front desk about the ants all he said was " I'll tell the management" no sorry, no let me take something off your bill! Will be letting Best Western know!

Quite a old hotel, the outside looks much better than the rooms inside. If you are on the gound floor people can look straight into your room from Parking lot. Breakfast simple but ok. For 1 night ok, but we stood 4 nights. For the next business trip I will for sure stay somewhere else Best is the short way to the Shannon Rose Pub (other side of route 17) and the very short distance to the train station (Ramsey 17 - with a connection to NYC)

I was in town for business and stayed 3 nights. The property is currently under remodel which I bring up to lead into my experience at this establishment. I'm shocked at these good reviews! The nicest staff member was the scammer that called me from the hotel phone asking for my info due to the system gong down. They called me from the office for real the night before so I thought ok it happened again and I'm already in my pajamas. But that wad only part of it. The first night stay my air didn't work and my tv only had one channel. The trip itself was stressful enough to have to endure a night like that with no remedy due to no availability. They did offer to change my room the next day. I had to pack up all my stuff after no sleep from the hot room and long meetings the next day. The new room was better butonly because the air worked and I had a bigger tv with more channels only to really only get 1/2 Of them is that. The attached pictures are of the serving room. I do like the bathrooms but the doors look rough. Speaking of doors both of my room doors and another lady said the same thing, the room door is really hard to open and close. See attached picture of the better room the first room was worse. Back to being scammed from the hotel phone, I want to add in that I felt the need to inform the hotel that this was happening. To be aware that their staff was being inpersonated (for all I know, it might have been the staff, who knows) and stealing from their guests. Its more than stealing. The lady couldn't understand me nor could I understand her. She didn't ask the right questions for her to understand and I hit key points of the situation. In the end was just told sorry that happened to you. I really wanted to hear from her a plan of action or more concern that this is happening in their business. In the end never ever give your info out like that. I know that's basic but like I said I had to do it the night before with my business card so it didn't cross my mind it wasn't legit. overall hotel is neat, clean and well kept. Staff is kind and attentive, breakfast was a welcome surprise. OLder hotel, but has obviously been updated, rooms are well appointed, beds are comfortable for good nights sleep. I will stay here again when in the area.

The TV was not working properly so I called the front desk. She told me someone would be there asap. They weren't so I called again; no answer. I went down and asked where was the repairman; she said he was not there. She then accused me of not knowing how to operate a TV. When I asked what she said she asked if I spoke English! Worst customer service EVER! I will NEVER be back!

Average hotel overall. Room was clean and bed was comfortable. Good shower, but terrible lighting in the bathroom (I stood in the bathtub to shave as there was no lighting near the sink). The "large desk" was pretty small, but probably to be expected. Free internet was easy to connect to and worked well. Breakfast buffet was convenient, with an acceptable selection of common breakfast food.

Overall a good stay, we were on our bike heading up the east coast. Able to park the bike under a tree, they wouldn't let us park under the canopy like most other properties so we left out soggy :( hotel is currently being remodeled btw.

I was a bit discouraged by the reviews and was skeptical about my choice. Check in was quick as well as check out. The room I chose was different from the picture I was given at the site I booked with. I think the picture is outdated. I was under the impression that the jacuzzi tub was directly in the room and not in the bathroom. I didn't mind that too much because we did indeed get a jacuzzi tub that fit myself and my husband (tall man, chunky woman) The bed was comfortable, noise wasn't too much of an issue, the exit wasn't too far from my room and the buffet breakfast was kept up with. I did notice that the jacuzzi tub in my room had an annoying leak that could not be saved by the towels provided( we didn't care too much about this because there is a drain in the middle of the bathroom). The breakfast was average. Eggs, bacon, sausage, muffins, cereal, juice, etc. I was extremely annoyed by the fact that I couldn't sit down and eat breakfast with my husband because the eating area was packed to the max. We had absolutely no room to walk around and pick out our food. We grabbed what we could and headed back to our room. For a romantic night away, it was worth it for us. Affordable and comfortable. I read about a smell in the halls and there was indeed a smell but nothing that couldn't be ignored. I will be returning but I will be making my way down to IHOP for breakfast the next day. Overall, we had a nice time. The cons I found did not affect my stay too much.

Good location with perfect on & off highway, close to food and gas. Remodeling noise on back side didn't bother me, just kept curtains and window closed. Good, healthy selections for breakfast plus all the normal junk sweets. Heard a dog the 2nd night and after half hour the owners either returned and/or calmed it down. Someone was smoking in the hallway but it didn't filter into the room... as I'm allergic, I used my inhaler in the hallway... but I thought it was rude they didn't go outside.

The room my wife and I stayed had holes in the wall burn marks and stains in the carpet pieces of wood missing from the furniture tiles in the bathroom missing and falling down no water pressure when you would flush the toilet and breakfast was a fun experience got there at 8 o'clock and no eggs left no employee bothered to refill or bring out more

We stayed as a large group, and had several rooms. The beds were comfortable, staff accommodating, breakfast was standard. Great value for the money. The restaurant/bar attached was a great way to wind down after spending the day in the city.

The room was okay, definitely not worth the $120/night I paid just to get a jetted tub. I wish I would have just got a regular room. You could tell there was water damage in the room (damp feeling carpet, wallpaper seams peeling), the room was a little dark, AC unit was loud, shower floor was rough and hurt to stand on. You can tell it's an older place. The floors are uneven in the room and in the hallways. The breakfast was great! I wouldn't recommend spending more than $80 a night at this place.

the hotel as severe structural damage to the floor it is sinking in the hallway, this hotel should not be allowed to be in business it is extremely dangerous and dirty and it smells bad. Also I forgot my charger for my phone but I guess the cleaner stole it because they never found it. Stay there at your own risk and if you go approach with a ten-foot pole.

I loved my stay here!! the hotel is amazing, the staff are very friendly and helpful and the rooms are beautiful. They have jetted tubs too! hotel has a restuarant that delivered right to my room and that was great after a long days drive. Oh they have an amazing, fully continental breakfast in the morning with bacon and eggs and waffle. very satisfied!!! all of the staff together made my stay very pleasant and comfortable. Felt like i was a VIP. Definitely coming back!

I have stayed at this hotel more times then I can count and never ever had an issue the last stay was BEYOND TERRIBLE. From the costomer service to the room to the location of the room I was out in. You should put guests in a section of the hotel that's under construction. Waking up to that was HORRIBLE.

"BW Ramsey and Biggies"

The room was pleasant and sober but nothing extravagant but looked very welcoming and decent. Furniture looked spotless and new compared to other run down hotels I have been to in the area (I don't want to give out any names). Flatscreen HD tvs could have been little bigger but nothing major to complain about because it had my sports and movie channels like ESPN and FX. Bathroom was clean which made my her very happy and comfortable using it otherwise she goes crazy. The King bed was soft and pillows were super comfortable and it was perfect for us to cuddle and get romantic . Biggies had a huge bar and amazing food, my personal favorite Thai Coconut Shrimp , two thumbs up for sure..... definitely coming back again.

Suitable as a stop for truckers or as an inexpensive stop for long distance budget travelers. Motel is a generation behind in all ways. Stopping there is like stepping into the 1960's. Adjoining restaurant is a good match. It is a low end sports bar with a rowdy crowd. OK for take-out but not a suitable setting for families.

"Bed bugs"

i spent twon nights here this weekend The bar and restuarant were really nice and the jetted tub in room. but the second night we discovered room 118 had alive bed bugs crawling on the bed. and we lifted the mattress to see black bed bug dots. With a few more bugs. I went down to complain quietly and politely telling them about this and they did not care at all. i packed myself up all my stuff and drove home at 11pm. no refund or anything. I wrote to them also and no response.I liked this hotel but bed bugs are not a joke and can make you very sick. I took photos as well. Don't stay here. And I am upset over all of this especially the fact I have clothes dry cleaned for safety. No discounts were offered or refunds at all. This was the worst trip all my life traveling.

I travel frequent on my business trip often to new jersey. usually I stay either at Ramada or Super8 depending on my location I am going to..This time I have decided to stay at Best Western at Ramsey NJ. This is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in New Jersey. I received a very warm reception from the Front desk person.I stayed there for 2 nights and it was an amazing experience,This is a very nice property conveniently located at the heart of the city.Staff is wonderful excellent Hot breakfast with a variety of Items.The breakfast lady was very polite and hospitable overall experience was very good. I would definitely stay at this hotel whenever I visit Ramsey

The room was very well laid out and it was very clean and neat. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom had a very large hot tub and great shower setup. The breakfast buffet was hot and fresh and very tasty. The common areas were all immaculate and comfortable. It was quiet. I will definitely stay there again next time I travel to NJ

Do not stay here!! DO NOT STAY HERE! My family and I stayed for two nights. All was fine the first night, other than the fact that ANYONE is able to open the "locked" outside door. I watched people simply stick a credit card into the lock on the door and and it opens. A little unsettling but at least our room doors lock, Right? Sadly, that wasn't the case. Our second night, after my kids were asleep (around 10pm), I left my room (room 125) to go to the ice machine. I did not want to wake my sleeping children so I gently closed the door but noticed the handle and lock were VERY loose. Out of curiosity, I turned the door handle and nudged the door a little with my shoulder to find out the door opens wide up! My husband called down to the front desk explaining our safety concern that our door does not work. The "manager" didn't care or want to hear it and he made it seem like he didn't believe us. He even tried saying WE must have done something to the door to make it that way! I decided to take a video of how easily it is to open my door and I will be sending to corporate. After almost an hour of arguing with the "manager" about how unsafe we felt in our room, he finally agreed to change our room (which he refused at first because he felt it was not necessary). He also rudely said that since nothing happened in result to our door not properly locking, it wasn't a big deal. So in other words, since no one broke into our room while we were gone and stole our things or worse, broke in while we were in our room, it wasn't "that serious". So we began packing and waking up our children so we could move. After settled, I personally went to the desk and demanded a manger come to my room first thing in the morning. Fast forward to the morning. No manager. No call. Nothing! After being disgusted over how poorly they treat their customers, I called corporate explained our situation and was told they were "so sorry" for everything, placed us on hold and called the hotel we were at. After being on hold for about 15 minutes, she came back on to tell us the manager handled the outside door situation (which was a total lie because I went outside and tested it with the same results). She then said there was nothing they could really do about it but offered us $20 off another night...$20?! And offer a few rewards points to eventually earn a free night stay. That's nice and all but considering my concerns with the safety of this hotel and considering how poorly they treated my husband and I when we addressed the concerns and blamed us for the door, I will not be staying at a Best Western hotel from here on. It's upsetting because I did like this place, the jacuzzi tub, the size of the room and that it's connected to a really good bar/restaurant, but the safety of myself and my family is important even though they did not think so. The video I took of how easy it was to open my room door will be posted everywhere to warn people about this horrible hotel! In addition to the door not locking, upon examining the door I noticed about 4 or 5 bolts in the frame which leads me to believe the door had been kicked in at some point in the past and "fixed" horribly.

Weekend getaway in Sleepy Hollow/Tarrytown, NY. Last year there was a Best Western in that area, but it has since been changed to a different chain. We called the Best Western 800 number to book the room and were told it was only about 12 miles from Sleepy Hollow. Well, that's if you can fly over the river. We checked the distance once arriving in Sleepy Hollow and it showed it was in fact a 45 minute drive. That really disappointed us because we like to easily go back and forth to our hotel as needed, but couldn't do that on this trip. Once we did arrive at the hotel we found it to be clean and comfortable. The front desk was very nice and helpful. The price includes a hot breakfast buffet in the adjoining restaurant. If in that particular area we would definitely stay there again, but not if we are staying in the Tarrytown area. If you are in the area you won't be disappointed with staying at this hotel.

"Had a few issues with my stay...."

I recently stayed at this Best Western which I first stayed at last year. I liked the rooms and whirlpool tub and rates are reasonable. Not much has changed since last year except they have rental cars (national) available in lobby. When I checked in after 10pm, the older middle eastern male seemed flustered, as several people showed up, and he kept getting calls (sounded like disgruntled previous guests). He took a call when it was my turn and the check in process took several minutes. When I entered through a rear door I saw numerous fans in the hallways by some of the rooms. Of course there was one right outside of my room #115. It was loud too. When I entered I noticed white powder all over the carpet throughout the room. It also had a strong smell. I called and asked if it was poisones and was told I should be fine. He said there was a problem with the room a few days ago....I shouldn't have been given it until it was completely clean......After a few minutes I decided to ask for another room. I got room 107 which was not renovated and had older furnishings than 115. The shower however was much nicer and larger with a bench and two body jets in the shower. The counter is too small though. The whirlpool was awesome as it had strong jets and is very comfortable. The room was old, the headboard was literally falling apart, peeled wallpaper, and it took me 15 minutes to get the tv to work. I called the front desk and was told someone would be down in a minute but after 10 I fixed it myself. The WORST thing was the AC unit. Despite setting it to cold and high it rarely stayed on (unless in fan mode which wasn't that cold ) and made the room feel very warm. It was late and I didn't want to have to complain or switch rooms again so I dealt with it and slept terribly, The breakfast was great and well stocked at 9am. I really liked the guava orange passion fruit juice eggs and bacon. There was a good variety of items and most was fresh but the sausage were dried out and spit out bad. I did not hear any noise from guests and felt safe. I got food next door and wings were good but pizza was bland and Biggies is pricey. If in the area again I might consider returning just due to the nice whirlpool tubs and decent breakfast but hope the service and cleanliness improves. I was disappointed to see so many fans throughout the hallways like the place flooded or something. Please don't give guests rooms that aren't clean or have power every where!

Stayed here because we were in town for a family wedding. The night we came the room was not cleaned. The front desk helped to get us another room eventually. Very shady people staying here. Not family friendly. First floor of hotel seemed ok but good god the second floor was slanted and looked like a horror movie. The room was OK. My wife killed a roach in the bathroom. The cleaning staff did a good job prepping the room each day...but you can just tell a lot of nasty stuff goes down here lol. Location is very accessible to R17. No laundry service and room service limited to restaurant next door. Phone did not work either so good luck trying to place an order haha. Breakfast was complimentary...and it should be since it was barely acceptable. We just went to Ihop and Mc'ds instead. Won't be staying here again. Ever. Thank God!

While the room was nice there is not much else good to say about the stay. Minimal security while located on a major road. Homeless people sleeping in cars in the back parking lot. Automatic locking entrance door did not work. Breakfast would have been better across the street. Staff seemed to be just putting in time. The hotel is a bar/nightclub with a hotel attached. There are better Best Westerns and other hotels nearby.

Stayed at this hotel 625&26, on 6/25 found roached in the room evening desk clerk was no help called next day and spoke to manager he said he'd comp the room, when i checked out Sunday morning they changed thier story and only gave me a 25% discount. I will never stay here again, roaches are unexceptable and after they offered me a 25% discount they still charged my credit card the full price had to call Best Western Corporate to finally get my 25% credited to my account. The managers I spoke to two, one who said he'd comp the room was nice but didn't follow through and the front desk manager his name began with a R don't have it with me know was so rude implied I might have brought the roaches. But the first manager I spoke to agreed they had a roach problem prior. The management lies and don't care about customer service. Don't waste your money. I am a gold BW member and this is one of the worst Best Westerns

The dogs were barking all night . Did not get any sleep , front clerk did nothing to resolve the issue, When calling the front desk to complain the only thing you got was a voice mail and how the Manager was going to get back to you, The breakfast was cold and no dishes but paper. There was no place to sit over crowed and not enough tables or chairs to sit down to eat in the morning the halls were hot the front desk was hot and dirty area not clean, There was a bus load of people going to Canada and there were 4 dogs not small and barking all night . Hot as heck in the halls and front end. No elevator for second floor dirty second floor area and steps .

On June 11, I booked a last minute flight and hotel room for June 12 for a friend's funeral. When I arrived in New Jersey the next day, I realized it was more preferable for me to be in Hoboken instead of Ramsey. I called the hotel when I was supposed to check in and asked if I was able to transfer my reservation to a Hoboken location instead. I was told they couldn't transfer the reservation, but that they would cancel my reservation and refund my credit card so I could rebook elsewhere -- which I did. A month later, I received my credit card statement and noticed the hotel did NOT refund me. I called and spoke with Morty who said I wouldn't be refunded because I didn't cancel the reservation 24 hours ahead of time. (My reservation wasn't originally made 24 hours prior to when I called.) The main problem is -- I never requested a refund in the first place. I simply wanted to transfer my reservation, but the person on the phone is the one who offered on his own to cancel the reservation and refund me. If this was never presented to me as a solution, I would've stayed there and saved $115. Regardless of whether or not a cancellation after 24 hours is against there policy, it is 100% unacceptable that they refuse to honor what the employee promised to a customer. This shows a complete lack of integrity and accountability on not only the Ramsey management's behalf, but the larger Best Western brand. Best Western's corporate office has been equally as unhelpful as this location's management. I've never seen such poor customer service in my life.

The Lobby was Never, not once throughout my 7 day stay at the Hotel, properly stocked with coffee cups, creamer, sweeteners, etc. I Upgraded my room to a Jacuzzi Room, the Jacuzzi was disgustingly dirty and didn't work properly, Maintenance had to come to fix it. We were told we would be given a 40% discount off for 2 days, of the $120 per night room rate we were charged. Then there wasn't any Breakfast staff available that same morning of the 29th of June, so everything was running out in the dining room by 7:45 am. I spent over 2 hours that morning running around back and forth between the kitchen and dining room helping Christy the front desk clerk get food, juice and coffee set up for the Hotel Guests. There all plenty of people, ie, guests, housekeeping/hotel staff, including the Managers themselves who can attest to this FACT!!! AND the Hotel did not have any running water for approx. 3.5 hours that morning (6/29/2016) as well. The following day around noon on 6/30/2016, our toilet was leaking from the bottom of the tank in the bathroom and the toilet paper holder was broken, so the toilet paper fell in the water that was all over the floor. We had to leave our room for several hours so Maintenance could go into the room and repair it. July 3rd & July 4th, Housekeeping didn't bother to enter our room to clean the room, do our beds nor give us clean, fresh towels (I had left all the wet, dirty towels on the bathroom floor in a pile). When I complained to Kenny on the 4th around 6:30 he advised me that housekeeping had left for the day and that according to the paperwork I had a Do Not Disturb sign on my door. I told him that Was Not True! I had made sure to leave the DND sign next to the television, which is exactly where I found it, to ensure that the room would be cleaned. First thing, the next morning on July 5th, I spoke to Christy, explaining to her what happened and she pulled out the paperwork to check and showed me that I, in FACT, had not had Any DND Sign on my door. I asked her to put in a Complaint against Kenny for lying to me, in trying to cover up the housekeeping staff's failure to do their job and also to put in a complaint against the housekeeping staff for not cleaning my room 2 days in a row. The Managers of the Hotel are not really concerned about their Guests. When I checked out of the Hotel on July 5, 2016 when I checked out of the Hotel, I was given my check out statement for $804.93 and I asked, to verify that I would not be incurring any additional charges due to upgrades because I didn't see it on my bill. I was advised that due to all my Inconveniences that ALL had been credited back to my bill and that I was not being charged anything additional. Just my initial $804.93 advanced hotel purchase. I REPEATED, are you Sure? I was told, Yes, that is your complete bill. I said Thank you and left, not expecting any additional charges. Posted on July 7, 2016 was an additional $161.00 charge, transaction dated July 6, 2016. I called immediately and was given the run around. I filed a dispute with my credit card company. I am Very Unhappy with my stay and treatment, during and after at Best Western. I NEVER Expected this from your establishment and will definitely think twice about staying at a Best Western in the Future!

We stayed here for one night. Carpet in room was wet - signs were everywhere about wet - no mention during booking - and room smelled. Night manager was very prompt and moved us to a different room - promised to discount our room. Morning manager acted like nothing had happened. And only grudgingly discounted our room. And we have a platinum BW card We forgot that we had stayed here a few years earlier where our last room was literally on a slanted floor. Would not stay again although we would stay at other BW's as we've had good experience with the chain. Parking was a bit annoying as several of the spots near the front are dedicated for the restaurant in the hotel

bathroom light over mirror took long time to turn on, shower tiles were all broken and not secured to shower floor, they came apart and stuck to my feet, no sincere apology from staff, had to ask for wifi password, for my welcome bag, what time was breakfast. no info provided (wifi /checkout/breakfast etc) placed in handicap room towards front / I'm not handicapped and a quieter room location would have been nice. other than bathroom, the room was clean and bed comfortable. but that's it.

I reserved this hotel at last minute for my husband and I the weekend of Father's Day. I requested the jetted tub room and we were fascinated & were able to relax for a night away from the kids. The shower was great as well. Breakfast also was great! No big complaints. I'll consider staying again to get a better experience! Staff was very nice and accommodating. I'm actually surprised to see the negative reviews just because I didn't even have a chance to go through them before I booked which I usually do. Don't regret not going through reviews before !

I've held my tongue too long. Stayed here several times - always hoping things will change. The slanted halls/rooms on the second floor won't change of course (true -very true) but other things should have. The price and the breakfast were always the main attraction. But the prices have gone up and the breakfast quality has gone down. Route 17 traffic is noisy and access to the NJ transit station used to be easy but that has been cut off by a neighbor. Stayed there recently with very nice check in experience but nice ended there. The room was one of the worst slanted in the building - so bad it should not even be used. WiFi was poor at best. Pillows were old. Room smelled odd. Toilet seat very loose. Furnishings/decor are still dated. Security door in the back broken and propped open. Breakfast a disaster (set up girl quit and walked out) so little or nothing was offered (no lobby coffee ) and nobody at front desk for checkout. Also no elevator, no gym, no pool. ATM broken. Time to look elsewhere - seriously !

This hotel was a great disappointment. It looks nice on the outside but we had a horrible stay. The front desk clerk was indifferent at best and did not care that the hotel had overbooked. I had specifically asked for a ground floor room so that my mobility challenged husband would not have to walk any farther than necessary from the car to the room. The only room available at check in was a second floor room. And there is no elevator. The room had a chemical odor similar to Simple Green cleaner. When we opened the window to air it out, there was no screen on the window. There was hardly any toilet paper in the bathroom, and no backup roll. So I had to walk all the way down to the front desk to get a roll of toilet paper. The snoze button on the alarm clock was missing/broken. And the "free breakfast" was horrible. The eggs, sausage, hash browns, etc were inedible. It was a very bad experience and we will not go back there again.

"Slanted Rooms Hotel"

If you enjoy rooms designed like your inside a funhouse, then you must stay here. Lobby is small, no elevators, hallways are slanted like a ramp, the rooms are spacious, dated and have slants in them. In room coffee is not very tasty. Bed was comfortable, and the work station is OK. Bathroom is small, shower curtain does not stay in place. Breakfast was sketchy. The first day of my stay they ran out of eggs, coffee. I told front desk clerk about this, and she really could care less. The sausage links were burnt beyond belief, however the bacon was cooked very well. Biggie's Restaurant at the hotel has a wide variety on their menu. Prices are a little high, but they are in line with NJ. Parking lot is spacious, and extremely difficult to turn right onto 17. Traffic is fast, and not too many opportunities to turn safely.

Accessing this hotel was very difficult, as it is located on Rte 17. We often had to add 10 minutes to our trips because of it. While we were fortunate to stay in a room that did not face the highway, we heard a number of guests complain about how noisy their rooms were. They advertised an on-site gym, however, it actually located across the highway, which entailed a 12 minute drive. But our greatest problem was with the management. We changed the date of our reservation, but were promised the same rate. When we arrived, they tried to charge us a significantly higher rate. When we protested, they claimed to have changed it. However, when we looked at our credit card statement a few weeks later, they not only charged us the higher rate, but also charged us for the date of our original reservation. I would recommend avoiding this hotel at all costs.

This is an older Best Western hotel right on Route 17 and is easy to get to. The staff were professional, efficient and friendly. Overall, rooms are ok. The king size bed was very comfortable, and the room came with a nice TV, frig, and microwave oven. The complementary morning breakfast was excellent with both a hot meal or a lite fare. Further, the wi-fi was free and at a good strength. One final good note is that the room also came with a safe for storage of personal property. There is no gym or area for a walk. Our one real issue was that the hotel did not have an elevator. There is a restaurant attached to the hotel called "Biggies." This restaurant has a good menu and nice bar area frequented by local families and business people. Bottom line is that if I was on a business trip, I would consider staying here again.h

We reserved days ahead a room on the second floor with two queen beds and when we arrived, they switched us to a handicap room with small beds on the first floor, saying that the hotel was overbooked. The room was very dirty, had a disgusting smell and the bathroom door didn't even close. Also, we didn't get to sleep all night because kids were running in the hotel until 5am and the manager who knew about the situation didn't even intervened by respect for the people who paid to get a nice sleep at his hotel. Finally, by 8am there was no more food and coffee left at the breakfast buffet because once again, the manager overbooked the hotel and didn't take in consideration the amount of food necessary to feed all these people. We tried talking nicely to the manager but this one said that he was too busy for us which is extremely rude and is not a way to respond to the customers. If it wasn't for the good staff who nicely accepted to credit our stay the next day, we were going to call the police on the manager. We've been booking at this hotel for the passed 10 years almost every month. Now with the new administration, the quality, service and cleanliness dropped considerably and we will never place foot in this hotel again.

"Clean Hotel"

The hotel is on highway 17, a busy highway in north-eastern New Jersey. The hallway to the rooms on the first floor is tiled with marble! Rather expensive for this type of hotel. The room was spacious with a large seated shower and a separate whirlpool bath. Wifi did not work in the room, although it did in the restaurant. The breakfast was good.

The Inn has been around a long time and for a price value combination, it is very good. Restaurant and bar are first rate and there are a ton of local places to visit. Definate a good place to stay. Staff was a bit new but resolved problems correctly and in good spirits. Nothing bad to say.

Great prices. The staff was very friendly and courteous. The attached restaurant/bar is very popular with the locals. Prices a little higher than we are used to but the food was great. Breakfast was included in the room price. Do note that this is a two story motel and there is NO elevator. A staff member did offer to carry our bags but we declined as it was not an issue for us. But this might be for someone else. Ask for a first floor room if necessary. I don't know what happened during construction but the floors do slope this way and that a bit in the rooms and hallways. Not an issue but a source of amusement. Located right on Rt 17. Easy on/off to get to motel. We have stayed here twice and would stay again.

I have stayed here many times on business and have always enjoyed it. I don't always have a car, so the location near shops and restaurants is great. They don't have a gym, but offer free passes to a gym on the north side of 17 if you ask. Only negative is that the hotel doesn't have an elevator. It is only 2 floors, but if you have heavy luggage it could be a pain! The staff are friendly and professional. On one occasion, I was initially given a room that hadn't been cleaned yet from the previous guest (was mislabeled in their system). I immediately returned to the front desk to notify them; they were very apologetic and upgraded me to a Jacuzzi suite.

This was the first time we stayed here. Our only complaint was the traffic during the night. Next time we will know to ask for a room on the other side of the building. Breakfast was good. Nice selection but the oatmeal was instant.

"Comfortable beds & great soaking tubs"

Good place to stay a few days. Opt for the big jetted tub suites for some good relaxation. Conveniently located within walking distance to the train station. Housekeeping does a great job cleaning and they were all very friendly. Yes, there may be some updates needed but it is still a good value and clean for an older hotel. The one major complaint I have for mgt is that the central bathroom ventilation system was turned off. I think the problem with this speaks for itself. Some of the other reviews mention that noise is a concern. You can hear water pipes running etc. The jetted tubs have high volume faucets that can be a little noisy but at least the big tub fills fast. Outside of this, I would consider staying here again.

"Outdated Hotel right on a very busy road"

We stayed here last weekend and the hotel was actually a bit creepy. The rooms were outdated with disgusting carpet, the bathrooms looked like the walls had been painted over and over again and the shower was so narrow that my husband decided not to use it. On top of it, the check in time is not until 4pm and the receptionist gave us a hard time when we called the day before to commit to an early check in so that we could get ready for a 5pm wedding. We were accommodated, but it left a very, very bad aftertaste. The breakfast was good, though the room was too small for the amount of people they had to accommodate

"An interesting slant on things"

The hotel is conveniently located within an hours drive of New York City so after your day in the Big Apple you can easily get away to a calmer environment. The hotel is clean and up-to-date. No workout room but free passes to the gym right across the highway. The only issue is the rather disturbing slant in the floors. The halls "wave" up and down from end-to-end and my room had a slant that caused items to roll across the floor. I would not recommend this hotel for anyone who has had a bit too much to drink!

Conveniently located on Route 17 with decent rooms and an attached restaurant worth eating at. Dog friendly too. Interesting bathroom if you stay in rm 125. The bedroom has sliding glass mirrored doors which you can open up to the bathroom with its jet tub. Very interesting (LOL).

I expected more for the amount of money I spent for just one night. It did not wow me, would probably not return. The room was acceptable and clean, there were a few issues with some bathroom maintenance or upkeep. I felt I did not get what I paid for, I could have stayed at a less expensive hotel and got the same.

"Nice!"

Great value - not cheap, but not outrageously priced. It's very clean and beds are comfortable. The breakfast is pretty darn good, too! Biggie's (pub) has nice food and a great draft beer selection. Only drawback is the noisy flat roof if you stay on the second floor when it rains.

This is a clean hotel with great staff. The room and the hotel itself is clean. There are many items available for breakfast. The parking is conducive to your location of the room you are given. I even got an upgrade free of charge and without asking. I recommend staying here.

"Great stay!"

We have been there twice now, for our anniversary. They have king sized beds with two person jacuzzi tubs in the room. They offered soup in the lobby and free coffee and flavored water. They even had champagne (with strawberries!) and wine and cheese. This may have been because it was Valentine's weekend, not sure. The restaurant attached to the hotel is fantastic. We had a dozen oysters (two different types!) and these amazing pannini's. The drinks were also great. Free hot breakfast in the same restaurant the next day. There is a ton of shopping in the area, A great day and night away from Brooklyn! Remember, all shops are closed on Sundays because of the blue book laws. That was the only bummer.

The Inn at Ramsey is a clean hotel with some great features. Nice restaurant, 24 hour coffee or tea and the staff is extremely accommodating. Did I mention the price is amazing? I've stayed several times and found Christine and Matt the (front desk staff) to be very friendly and above all else willing to make my stay as enjoyable as possible. This past weekend the general manager Will was walking through the breakfast buffet asking people if they enjoyed their stay. You just don't get that level of service in an inexpensive hotel. When reading reviews here I am amazed that people complain. If you want the Ritz Carlton pay the price and go. If you want a clean hotel with a great breakfast at a great price this is the place!

"Great Rooms, Great Breakfast for A very Good Price"

I stayed at the Best Western For two Nights and it was great. Im not sure what everyone is complaining about because I thought it was excellent. Yes, you can hear the fun activities that the people next door are having but it's not that big a deal. I could only hear the people next door once after that it was quiet the whole stay. The breakfast was also better than I expected. Most hotels don't even give breakfast so that was very nice. The only thing I have to give a small complain about is the smell of cigarette in our No Smoking Room. Seems like the people before us did not abide by the rules. But besides that, everything was great!

Nice staff, good restaurant attached but walls as thin as ice! Hard to relax when you can hear others in their rooms as clear as if they we're in your room!! Also no elevator, so enjoy walking up steps with all your suitcases as well.

"Poor Best Western Experience"

Let's start with the positive: room was clean and in good order, beds were comfortable, there was a large fridge and a microwave in the room, hallways looked neat and breakfast was tasty. Wi-fi worked fine. Now, the bad: When we checked in at 11 PM, I was "greeted" by front desk clerk John with an ice-cold attitude - the worst check-in experience I have seen in years of travelling. The man wouldn't look at me nor say a single word. He simply slapped the contract and magnetic cards on the counter and that was it. When I asked for a 3rd magnetic card, he looked like I was 100% annoying him. The next day, at around 9 AM, when I entered the breakfast lounge, floors were covered with dirt from the New Year's Eve party. A staff member was sloppily mopping the floor over dirt. She remained in the breakfast area the whole time I was there, mumbling rants against the mess she had to clean up. Later, at check-out time, the front desk clerk was slumped in his chair, sleeping with his head resting on the wall. I had to make noise to wake him up. When I said I was checking out, I gave him my room number and he simply said, "you're all set" in a bored/annoyed tone. When leaving the hotel, I saw him slumped in his chair again, now playing with his cellphone. My friend's wife, who was staying with us, tried to make a call using a calling card from the room. It didn't work, so she went to the front desk to be told by the same unpleasant clerk there was a $25 fee to activate the line. The building looks clean and generally inviting, but is built like and endless maze. You may walk a lot with your luggage. There is no elevator to the second floor. All in all this place was far from bad and the price was attractive, but the staff made our stay dull and depressing. Even if staffers were possibly tired from NYE celebrations, this is no excuse for such a lack of care and professionalism.

""More cons than pros!""

The walls are paper thin allowing the next rooms "X" rated activities to bleed through. The beds were very uncomfortable and the WiFi worked sparatically, the floors are warped not allowing the doors between rooms to fully open. The hotel needs an overhaul desperately along with the beds. On a positive note the breakfast buffet was well presented along with great tasting hot coffee. The staff did their best to accommodate us and for that they deserve positive recognition. All-in-all a decent value with regard to location and sopping venues, Bear Mountain, NYC, etc...

Comfortable, affordable hotel. Nice touch to have the TV remote in a special bag indicating that it has been cleaned. Rooms are away from the highway, so there is little to no road noise, but some room noise does seep in. Great breakfast selections.

The place is safe and clean. Not a lot of frills. a great place to stay the night. has a nice restaurant/bar. 15 minutes to malls and entertatinment. Within walking distance to a major supermarket. easy check in easy check out.

"Not what I expected."

Well the hotel was clean and the room was satisfactory. Outer security doors did not lock at the specified time. Not enough parking for hotel guests. Restaraunt guests parked in hotel slots which caused me to park around the building from my entrance. Lastly, breakfast was supposed to be open at 6:30 per the website but they put a sign on the door that it opened at 7:30. I needed to be on the road by 7. No breakfast that day for me!

Room smelled. Walls are thin so you can hear everything people do and say next door. You have to pull your door shut or it sticks open. When we went to check out, there was no one around. The morning breakfast was average. We will never stay at this hotel again.

"An ideal Inn in the suburb of New York"

Knowing that Route 17 is always busy and therefore I thought it would be difficult to find the hotel and to get there. Yet, I was very easy to find it. The check-inn was smooth and easy. The room was clean and large enough to relax, but I smelled a bit too strong deodorant; I assume previous guests smoked there, even though it was a Non-Smoking room. The service I really enjoyed was free breakfast. It was more than just a continental breakfast. Overall, Best Western in Ramsey provided more than the price.

Excellent value for the $. We booked the king room with the Jacuzzi tub and loved it. The sauna shower with the three shower nozzles was wonderful also. The breakfast the next morning before we hit the road again was very good and all fresh. I would recommend this hotel for couples, families and the business traveler as well.

"Second stay more costly"

My previous booking was a AARP/Senior price of $80 per night. My second booking for a Valley Hospital surgery went up to $95 per night that's wrong as a rewards member who travels a lot around the country.

"Great staff, terrible rooms"

Let me start out here with this: The people here were great. They tried to help out as best they could and they did it with a smile and a good attitude. The hotel itself, however, had no elevator, the floors in the hallways made you feel like you were going up and down hills, there was no hot water on the non-highway side of the building, and the radiator made so much noise we couldn't sleep very well. Also, I could hear conversations in the hallway and the rooms next to us...and they were not shouting. The wallpaper was peeling, there was not much light, and there was only one plug near the bed...and it was on the far side of the wall from the headboard.

"Very Poor Stay"

Walls paper thin and constant noise from surrounding rooms beside and above made this very uncomfortable. less than 4 hours sleep per night because of it. Toilet didn't flush and TV didn't work. The breakfasts were good but that was the hotels only saving grace

I usually stay here 1 or 2 nights a year during my visits in the NY and NJ area. Its in a great location close to a lot of amenities, restaurants and shops. Staff is helpful and a great breakfast selection. Rates are very reasonable. Great place to stay overall.

"Excellent Experience at Best Western Inn at Ramsey"

Great breakfast - real eggs, not powdered. Manager clearly really cares about the place and about customer experience - personally went out of his way to respond to our request for a quiet room. The facility is not new, but it does not feel worn, and is spotlessly clean. Had dinner at the attached restaurant (something we rarely do), and in this case it was great - not just a hotel restaurant, but clearly a favorite with locals, with a great raw bar and fantastic ribs. Only minus - the walls are not as sound-proofed as one would wish, although that was not a problem for us (quiet neighbors).

Our eggs are cooked on a stove top, just like you would make them at home. In addition to the scramble eggs, we offer a second egg option which rotates daily from eggs with ham and cheese, eggs with sausage, and eggs with peppers & onions. Biggies Clam Bar and Restaurant is a great addition to the Best Western Inn at Ramsey. They are a family own business with 5 location. Their quality of food, prompt courtesy service, late hours and room service are features that our guest often rave about. "Very satisfied"

Management definitely went above and beyond the call to make our stay pleasant, especially by honoring our request for rooms away from the highway. They also gave us a free room upgrade. Room was very clean, spacious and well furnished with excellent shower and Jacuzzi. Bed was very comfortable for us. Easy highway access was also a plus. Only minus was thin walls - if folks in the neighboring room(s) are noisy it could be a long night. All in all a very good stay compared to other hotels at this price point. Restaurant was also good food and good value, especially appreciated as many of the dining options in Ramsey are on the pricey side.

We have addressed this issue in our rooms that we renovated. and plan to continue through the hotel. "Good value, but a bit noisy"

The lady who was in charge of breakfast in the morning of 10/25/2015 did a woderful job! Very friendly, kept everything clean, and refilled the items to the trays very fast. Thank you for that! However, the walls are paper thin and we could hear people in other rooms next to us. There was a huge semi truck outside our window that kept on running all night long which created a lot of noise. Upon arrival the heavy front door slammed me in the back and hit my backpack which contained the laptop. I complained to the front desk person and he didn't react and did not even apologize. The wall lamp outlets did not work. The TV remote was slow to react and changing channels was problematic. The wifi was slow in the evening.

"Convenient and clean"

Convenient location with a lot of shops and restaurants near it. Front desk person was very friendly and helpful. Hotel was clean and king size bed was comfortable. The breakfast was decent but could have been better stocked.

"Clean and comfortable."

My family just returned from a four night stay at the Best Western Inn at Ramsey. Overall, it was a very nice stay. The room was very clean, the beds and pillows were comfortable. The free wi-fi was the best I have ever used at a hotel! The complimentary breakfast was good and had a lot of choices. The first three mornings we went to the breakfast (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) there was a very nice, hardworking woman on duty. She was on top of things! She refilled everything as soon as it was empty, brought my daughter more juice when she heard her ask me for more and was extremely friendly. Monday morning must have been her day off because there was a different woman working and the breakfast was not well tended. The coffee was empty, the potatoes ran out and it was just not as well run as the previous mornings. Overall though our stay was very nice and I would not hesitate to stay there again.

"Overall Great Experience"

Upon arrival I was kindly greeted by a very pleasant young lady at the desk. She was very attentive to me and told me everything the hotel had to offer from where to park to what time breakfast will be served until. When I got to the rooms they were pretty spacious and very clean. The hallways however are fairly uneven and have unexpected slopes in them. I called down to the front desk because I needed extra towels and she told me no problem and within 2 minutes there was a knock on the door and there she was with the towels. She was the only one working that night I believe. My kids and I had a good night sleep and woke up and went to the breakfast area which was held in the restaurant. The breakfast was absolutely amazing they had scrambled eggs, home fries, waffles, yogurt and so much more. The breakfast selection was very pleasing . When it was time to checkout I came in contact with the same young lady again I believe her name was Jodley. Even after her very long shift she was still smiling and even made a couple jokes about it. My overall experience was superb my only complaint was the floor levels.

"Sleep in the car"

Bed awful. Would have slept better in the car. Left trip early and commuted rather than stay another night. I would compare the bed to a pile of newspapers. Bathroom was very slanted. Breakfast was ok - did the job. Hotel also had an odd smell to it.

"Best Hotel!"

My boyfriend and I stay at this hotel regularly as a get-away after a long week of work. Staff is great. Check-in is fast & easy. Rooms are clean & quiet. Excellent free breakfast. Free coffee and tea in lobby all day. Biggie's restaurant & bar very relaxing, with nice outdoor patio area, weather permitting. Large parking lot. Very close t o stores and other restaurants and nearby Starbucks!Alex, the Manager has been super accommodating. Would highly recommend if you're in the area.

"Best Western at Ramsey"

This hotel should be demolished and rebuilt. The floor are out of level by 4 inches across the width of a bed room. The doors have gaps at the top where they don't fit correctly. It is hard to understand how they can remain open with such compromised structures.

"Better then avg "

The beds were great !! The staff was great !!! The fruit was fresh ( witch is a big thing with me ) Every thing about this place was great Except no elevator I know it's a older building ( that has a great feel ) but a elevator really is a most have They even had a great breakfast ( and let's face it that's hard to find any more ) it's at a place called biggies next door that's more of a " bar and grill " type thing ( personal opinion not kid friendly more of adults only type thing ) biggies is not part of BW but I would not recommend the dinner there but the breakfast was good :) Hope this helps happy travels

Since the building is only two floors, elevators were not part of the original design when it was built in 1966. However, it is being looked into for consideration. "Nice hotel, great stay!"

Aside from some tricky traffic patterns to get to the hotel, I was quite happy with my stay there and overall pleased with the friendliness of the staff, the location, the amenities, and the quality and condition of the rooms. The hotel seems pretty much up to date and is very clean and serviceable inside. The front desk staff was helpful and even went as far as ensuring my stay was included on my BW account. Probably the highlight of the stay was the breakfast...actually cooked in the attached restaurant rather than someone in back whipping up dried eggs! No complaints there! The only thing that should be noted (and it's not a negative) is that the hallway floors are not level. It might be one of the most bizarre things I've come across in a hotel. There's nothing wrong with them that would directly affect one's stay, but still...it's just strange to see a dip in a floor! Also, it's not written anywhere that I can find, but the restaurant next door will deliver to your room. Their food was quite good (typical pub-esque food) but I walked over there to pick it up and they informed me that they deliver. That would have been good to have known, but it wasn't a bad walk through the hotel. Overall, I was happy with my stay and would stay there again!
