Filthy sheets…as in feces. Made me question the hygiene of the entire room. Pretty disgusting. Breakfast pretty lame. Items not replenished as quickly as guests were helping themselves. Baked goods stale, hash browns hard. Super-crowded breakfast area and no to-go containers for those of us who had to return to their rooms on the other end of the facility.
rooms were unclean, key cards didn't function properly, AC was broken, checkout was a disaster. the list goes on.
it is a nicely located hotel, stayed there for a night, as i had meeting nearby, very convenient, room size was good, welcoming staff on the front desk, more importantly clean, only problem is you have to use the stairs to go into your room so for disabled guests it can be hassle as well as the ones who has heavy luggage ( there may be an elevator on the other areas so it is better to ask the hotel ) other than that all is good and i would recommend.
Amazing time staff was on point we were comfortable relaxed and had the best time it was worth the time and money spent and looking forward to visiting again soon ! The breakfast and all day refreshments made the experience that much better along with the welcome gift for being a memeber!
Great service at the reception desk. Staff is very friendly. Rooms are very clean. Breakfast is very good for grab n go. Close to NYC. Best Western is right off the highway. If you need anything at all just call the front desk. LOVE THE HOTEL.
I got charged for 2 rooms when I stayed in just one. I had reserved 23 rooms for a group of friends and when we registered we presented two credit cards, one was mine the other from the friend standing next to me. We informed the attendant that we would each pay for one room. We do this often without a problem. My card was charged for both rooms. Phone discussions with 2 hotel representatives failed to fix the problem. I am still charged for both rooms.
This hotel has very small rooms, and they are kind of old and outdated. They were clean enough though. The beds were not hugely comfortable but that may be a preference thing. TV is old and slow to change channels.
Great overall stay! We drove from Toronto and stayed 3 nights. The good: The pillows and bed were amazing! The HVAC and air quality very good; Cleanliness-felt and smelled clean Breakfast great offering (scrambled eggs, hard boiled eggs, toast, waffle maker for waffles; cereal; apples, bananas); come early because it disappears quickly; Front desk most staff very helpful (especially Milly) Bathroom-good size and clean; Location easy to find as we drove in from Toronto; The bad: Front desk employee-the night we checked in he was not as friendly as I expected; At check-in, taking a photo copy of our drivers license-increases risk of fraud; Shower-water pressure a little weak; Faucet (bathroom)-quite stiff affecting the flow of water; Shuttle bus-would be nice to offer to assist with NYC commute; Nothing ugly thankfully.
No money is worth the quality of the rooms or service. The staff is incredibly unprofessional, defensive and argumentive no matter how hard we tried to keep our cool. We experienced mold/left over items by previous guest in our room. When contacting the front desk (by personally going bc the phone in the room did not work), they reached out to management and were left without and any resolutions, reasonable accommodations for our party and incredibly antagonistic, brash and argumentive behavior. It got to the point where I seriously thought we were being filmed for some kind of prank show. A couple options offered were: to have the bed sheets changed, sleep with the air conditioner off, or change to a room that would not accommodate our family. With obvious reason, none would correct the situation. When asking for a refund to book elsewhere we were refused-even after verification of the status of the room was validated by staff. I travel often domestically and internationally; I have never been so prompted to leave such a negative review until my experience here. I left feeling so disrespected, helpless, and robbed.
Good hotel, great stay. Stayed just for 1 night due to repair work in my apt. The room 104F was nice, clean, well-maintained, bed and pillows comfortable. Hotel staff nice and helpful. This hotel is also about 10-15min walking distance from the NJ Transit bus line to NYC 4.50bus fare) in case you want to avoid driving in/taxis. Good stay overall, thank you
The hotel was clean and easily accessible. For being close to the main road it was very quiet! We will definitely be returning when we get to this area again. When we called on our way to the hotel to check on availability we could understand the man who answered the phone!
We stayed on a Friday night before crossing the bridge into Manhattan the next morning for a cruise. Check in was fast and friendly. Room older but clean. Bed was comfortable. Only caution, is the room did not have a microwave. In the morning, we took the free breakfast back to our room as there was not much seating in the lobby. Overall, a good price for clean accommodations.
I stayed here for the weekend with my family. It is 10 minutes from NYC in a decent location close to shopping centers and restaurants. The gym is on the second floor in the last building. Our room was in the last building quite a walk to the main desk however we were close to the entrance and every time somebody entered and exited the building we would hear the door slam. The room was decent, beds were comfy, and clean. I wish our room had a microwave but overall the room was decent. The breakfast was good, fresh and warm. I will definitely be staying here again when I plan to go into the city.
The two suites we booked are too noisy to sleep. We were able to switch to a single room with twin beds but were charged for the suite rate instead of a single room. No receipts were provided by the hotel after emailing the hotel manager. No response for price adjustment. No coffee or breakfast available. The coffee machine was said broken. The breakfast was running out. Having been with this hotel brand for 20+ years, this was a total disappointment experience. Calling the customer care was no help.
The room is exactly the same as a Motel with the difference that you pay for a a hotel room. The room was cleaned but the cleaning crew was yelling since before 6 am!! Come on, you go to a Hotel to sleep!
Room was small but clean and beds were comfortable. The access to the hotel was directly off the highway and the first time i totally missed it and had to drive around to find it. I was afraid that the highway noise would be high but in fact there as a hallway in fron of the room that totally blocked the street noise.
Just across the GW Bridge from Manhattan, this BW Hotel is comfortable and clean, with recent water and decor upgrades. The staff is always pleasant and helpful; the complimentary breakfast is good (not lavish); the Rewards program is generous; and the rates are reasonable.
I was entitled to a refund after having to pull out of a stay at BW Fort Lee. I received no help in the process and have been pulled around for the last 1-2 months without receiving the refund. Still haven't received it.
The door opening and closing made my sleep impossible. Otherwise, everything else was excellent and I had no problems. Love the location and the staff was first class with their service. I would recommend it, to my friends and associates
booked the wrong dates by mistake while we were on the road, the reception girl was so rude didn't not want to refund us even though we had called 5 min after we had done the reservation online. UNACCEPTABLE!
Picture looks nice, quality is camparable to a 1 or 2 star motel. Overpriced for our stay. Carpet is dirty and outdated, bathroom is updated with low quality craftsmanship. Staff and housekeepers are friendly. Location can be easily missed because of narrow entrance. If you missed it, you will have to drive around 1.2miles to get back to the entrance.
Great location for a very reasonable priced stay for work or pleasure in NYC (without paying Manhattan prices for hotels or parking! The staff are friendly, helpful and overall helpful. The rooms seem to be COVID-cleaned, recently renovated, and, though not by any means luxurious or pretentious, are quite comfortable.
We stayed here one night since my daughter was running at the Armory the next day. I was pleasantly surprised by how quiet the rooms were. I thought it might be very noisy since the hotel sits right on Rt. 4, but the rooms are built into the back and there is enclosed hallway in front of them. The bed was reasonably comfortable (though the pillows were a little hard). Breakfast was okay for the COVID world, but it would have been nice to have yogurt or individual containers of milk instead of a single bottle of whole milk. It was a little challenging to adjust the shower for hot water and the temperature and pressure fluctuated. It was super convenient to NYC, about 2 minutes to get onto the GW Bridge. Coming back was also pretty easy, but you have to be really careful since the hotel is on the RHS right after you get onto Rt. 4 from the GW.
Stayed there with my family because we wanted to visit NYC and it was absolutely amazing and calm. The staff was great and I have to say special thanks to two latinos employees who worked as concierges I believe. They helped us with directions, food recommendations, transportations, one of the sir brought hot towels and amenities to out room and asked us if we needed a microwave with no charge. I mean, I would totally stay there again. I know reviews are important, and if you're reading this, the hotel management should say thanks to those employees. Loved my stay and felt safe during those 5 days. If you're going to NYC, take the 159 bus just a couple of blocks away (you have to walk through the hill which is not that bad), you will pay 3.50 or 4.50$ and it will leave you at Port Authority Bus terminal, which is the 8th av on NYC. From Fort Lee it will take you about an hour because it has Many stops, but it's really beautiful and you get to meet NJ. GRACIAS
I have stayed at this hotel many times in the past. It is confident and clean but I won't be staying here anymore. I stayed because of a short turn around and when I went to take a shower the water was cold. I called the front and said something and their response was just let the water run. I did. I took a cold shower and left the water running. When I left the room I checked the water and it was still cold. That was after over 45 minutes of run time. The front desk said there was nothing they could do. I called to speak to a manager about it a couple days later and the response was the same. They say sometimes this happens but they are aware of the problem.
Awesome staff , Great customer service staff (Gabriel and Ms Lenora) Our stay was so nice and really relaxing. The room extremely clean, smelled good and was like home. We truly enjoyed our stay and will gladly be returning. Best Western Staff Thanks
Of course you're not getting a super high end hotel here, but for the NYC area, this is hard to beat! The prices were reasonable, and our accommodations were very pleasant. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, even with our large and sometimes an organized group. Parking was plentiful, and I felt like the area was decently safe. I would recommend having a car, as it wasn't very walkable. There are a lot of restaurants if you have a car to drive to nearby though. It's also a very short drive over the bridge to Manhattan, which was perfect for us. Really rather easy access into the city. My room was basic but comfortable. The continental breakfast in the morning contain some hot foods and was really rather delightful for this class of Hotel. I would definitely stay here again if in the area.
No refund or credit for cancellation because of the COVID -19 virus. I responsibly contacted this hotel on the Fourth of March to cancel or postpone my booking. I have since been advised there was no refund. The cancellation was not just for my benefit but also for the Best Western's. They got $1000 for doing sweet f a. If this is going to be Best Western's policy, the public should boycott them.
Convenient place to stay, very courteous and helpful staff. I checked in at shift change, and both gentlemen were very efficient and kind. Hotel was quiet, even though it was booked. Would definitely recommend.
I just wanted to reach out and personally thank Kiara for all her help to make our stay comfortable, smooth and seamless. We were coming from out of town very early in the morning. She made our last minute booking so smooth, easy to process and comfortable for all our guest. It was amazing. The room was spacious & clean. The parking was free and easy to access. We felt safe of the premises & food/restaurants were easy to locate. The hot breakfast was the prefect way to start a day. The room service staff members for clean sheets & towels were so helpful & friendly. Would definitely stay again & recommend as well. Thank you!
I usually stay at other branded properties nearby but anyhow I decided to stay there from Dec 4th to 11th. But I had to check out in the middle after I found out my necklace from Tiffany & Co STOLEN from the room, after the second night. I put "do not disturb" sign as soon as I checked in, and didn't want housekeepers coming in. I obviously freaked out when necklace I put next to TV disappeared, and asked the front desk to check with CCTV or any other recordings they keep. Was it too much to ask? Each time I talked to the front desk, different employee had different misleading information that kept me waiting for many hours. Especially Alyssa Gonzalez, the front desk manager, is the most UNFRIENDLY and INHOSPITABLE hotel employee I have ever met. She basically has an attitude of making guests feel BAD for any questions or requests. She didn't even feel sorry about giving wrong information about checking up with CCTV and other recordings that turned out to be really BS. I am 100% sure I have brought the necklace to this trip (I have a picture of wearing it the day before it disappeared), and it was near TV. I have looked at literally everywhere in the room, even moved the wardrobe under TV, safe, etc. I strongly suspect housekeepers, but the hotel was not really confirming if anyone went into my room. So I had called the police to investigate this issue since the hotel was NOT HELPING at all, but I honestly feel I can't get it back. The necklace was really a meaningful gift. This property may have a good location in terms of access to the city, but people, please invest more money in your SAFETY and comfort. It will be just one huge, long, akward corridor from the entrance you have from stairs, then you have all the rooms on one side that is really near to the road. The hotel is NOT safe and people working here are NOT helpful. I would call this property not BEST Western, but WORST Western. I will never use any of Best Western brands in my life.
Best Western Fort Lee is a very economical and convenient hotel to access NYC. The hotel is recently remodeled. It has two double beds, mini fridge, coffee maker and a nice desk. Complimentary breakfast is offered: home fries, steak and pepper and turkey breakfast sausages. Also cereal, bagels, pancakes, waffles and tea and coffee. NYC is only 5 minutes away without traffic via GWB which costs $15 and $10 with EZ Pass. Uber will set you back $30 at least. Best bet public transportation.
The rooms were small, bed uncomfortable, long walk outside from the front desk, breakfast room way too small for all that wanted to partake of breakfast. Many people were waiting for tables. Breakfast could be so much better. Why is this ice machine on the 2nd floor? should be 1 on each floor.
Very nice hotel close to everything in Ft Lee. I have stayed her about 6 times and it is the best value in Ft Lee. Very good breakfast and friendly staff. Rooms are nice. Price is the best in Ft Lee from what I have seen. My go-to hotel when in the Ft Lee area.
This entire experience was a nightmare. We booked 6 rooms under a group reservation. We had 11 people here for work, stopping literally only to shower and change, and dealt with the check in from HELL! Julissa or whatever her name was had an attitude throughout the entire check in process. She explained there was a $50 incidentals charge per room, no big deal. Throw it on the company card. However, she then proceeds to ask if I want to put it all on one card, but starts swiping it individually. Immediately I stop her, explain that if you run this card for the same amount 6 times at the same location, out of state from where the card was issued, it would flag as fraud. I'd have to call the company owners to call chase, etc, to lift the fraud, and we simply didn't have time. Asked if she could just swipe once for whatever the total was for the remaining incidentals. She refused. Got short. Told me if I had an issue to call the supervisor because that's not her problem. She was doing it her way or we could forfeit the rooms we prepaid. Took the card she told me had the supervisors number as she told me to call now, and the damn number rang the hotel. Seriously?! I asked why there wasn't someone trained in management working the night audit. Asked when a supervisor would be available. She then proceeds to tell me to call tomorrow...which didn't resolve the predicament tonight. So I asked what time she'd be available tomorrow, then magically there wasn't going to be a manager or supervisor even on the schedule tomorrow per Julissa. Weird...36 hours without anyone trained in management even scheduled or available...sounds pretty sketchy. I travel literally 4 days a week, every week of the year, for work. I stay in hotels all across the nation, and never have I dealt with such attitude and ignorance. This girl was barely trained or capable of doing her job, which is not her fault. That is just a reflection of the management of this property. A DISGRACE to best western as a brand.
We were there Sept 20. I originally booked this hotel through best western website and they charged me for the room immediately but it was still cancellable. On sept 15 I found it $50 cheaper on Expedia so I cancelled the room through best western and booked through Expedia. They never reimbursed me my original booking. They said they never charged me. I provided them proof and the manager said it was strange and she had never seen that before but she would look into it and get me a refund. Two weeks later and there has been no refund. I have tried contacting them, as well best western customer care and no one wants to resolve this. Now they are saying I have to go through Expedia for the refund. Expedia has NOTHING to do with it. We completed the booking that was through Expedia. The kicker.... one of the ladies at the front desk said for my trouble she would give me some best western points. Never happened. I have been a loyal best western customer for years. I'm disgusted at the way I've been treated. Do not stay here unless you want them to steal your money. I have proof of everything and will be lodging a complaint through BBB. Monday, if they do not have my money back to me I will be contacting my credit card company.
This hotel is a great location, located less than 2 miles from the George Washington Bridge/ subway station into New York. The staff at the hotel is very friendly and welcoming. Amenities are excellent and the wi-fi is super fast.
Terrific location right over the GW bridge in Fort Lee. Hotel is conscious of its age and regularly makes modest cosmetic improvements inside and out. Rooms are good-sized; easy access to on-site parking; clean; bedding is comfortable; bathroom is stocked adequately; Wi-Fi, TV, AC/heat all work well. Easy-to-use alarm clock/radio; good breakfast with many options. Staff has always been pleasant, accommodating, and competent. Rates are affordable.
My husband & 2 sons (2 yo & 17 months) stayed while visiting NYC. The room is very small like others have said but it was clean & nice enough for us. We didn't eat breakfast so I can't review that. When we checked in they gave us information on how to get to NYC but we just used Uber, which will cost at least $100 there and back! Overall, good experience!
The front desk was very helpful. She called my room to ensure everything was working. There were print outs in the room on transportation recommendation on how to get to New York City and restaurants that would deliver, that was very helpful.
I stayed he many times and never had a problem. Rooms are always clean. i always got lucky with parking. Staff is very friendly and professional. Not a good place if you have big commercial trucks. Pick up trucks are fine!
Very nice place. Staff was friendly. Breakfast was good too. Everything was clean. No complaints at all. Was given a list of restaurants nearby and the one's ordered from were really good too. Definitely would wanna come back if ever in the area again.
Recently renovated attractive, comfortable rooms, although on the small side (2 double beds rather than queen sized). The hotel staff was very pleasant and accommodating to our specific needs with small children. The hotel is built into a rocky hillside; outside steps are required for most rooms. We would stay here again, largely because of the warm and helpful staff.
Hotel is currently being renovated. An elevator is being installed near the room we stayed in. The room was clean and the bathroom appeared to have been updated. The way the hotel is set up keeps you from hearing noise from the nearby highway. The downside was the small beds and small room. I didn't think the bed was very comfy either, other family members did. Breakfast was good. Would have been nice to have USB charging ports in the room as an update.
The rooms were clean, beds comfortable, great staff they were very helpful. The breakfast was good with a variety of options on the menu. Great place to stay when visiting New York comparing the hotels pricing in New York.
I would rate it 3.5 its not bad but its not great. Overall I was happy with the room. They are remodeling the rooms and the new rooms look nice. A little noisy and the mattresses could be better. The price was fair and the continental breakfast was good. Close to the GW bridge so a quick hop to Manhattan. Also free parking which is a plus. You cant really walk to anything except a gas station with a mini mart. I would stay there again.
We had the unusual experience of having an offer on our house for sale while we were away. The staff at Best Western was most helpful in our use of their computer, printer and fax. They shared our enthusiasm and made what could have been stressful very pleasant.
We had booked with booking.com. Had to cancel at the last minute. Folks at front desk said since we had not booked with them (they had not received payment) they could not refund payment. We are out $130. Lesson learned: DO Not Use booking.com. In the future, we will book directly!
I've always driven past this Best Western and wondered how a stay here would be. I must say that I was very pleased that I booked this hotel for a few days away from home for my husband and myself. I'm not usually a fan of this chain, but this BW was exceptional in how the building was laid out and situated off the highway. The hotel was quiet , comfortable and convenient.
Easy to find. Close to so many places to visit! We saw Natalie McMaster at Bergen Performing Arts Center in Englewood and had no trouble navigating to and from. The staff I spoke with were very informative and helpful and friendly.
The hotel is under construction. We would like to have known this prior to our visit. The exterior stairs and walkway leading to our room were uneven and extremely icy and slippery. No salt or sand was layed down. A staff member entered our room while we were in it, even with the DO NOT DISTURB sign. The heating/AC was not properly working, so it was either 75 degrees at night, roasting us, or we had cold air blowing on us. With that said, the front desk staff were very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful, and the breakfast buffet was very good.
A great place to stay for quick and easy access in and out of NY with complimentary breakfast and beverage service available all day. Rooms are clean and spacious and if requested, you can have a microwave provided. The value is the best part!
If you don't like hot water, a working toilet, or a staff that actually looks after the guests--this is the place for you. We had rooms with about ten partying guests on each side, that were finally broken up around two in the morning when the police and fire department had to come to shut off the fire alarm that was blaring for over two hours...it was a nightmare from hell. Nobody made any attempt to make us whole after the fact.
I typically have good experiences with Best Western but this was polar opposite. There was no hot water to shower the first day. The room was dirty with hair and wet/used towel. Room smelled "dirty". Hotel caught fire late at night could not return back to sleep. The hotel set up is more like a old Super 8 motel where you walk up to the room. The positive was there was some parking and the location is close to the GWB. May have been the worst experience hotel wise thus far. Will not return.
The employees were very polite and sociable. How are you recommend everyone staying there. The rooms are very clean the beds were ver soft. Will be returning to stay another time. The Internet was also easy to access and very fast.
The room was small but adequate for a one or two night stay. Staff was very accommodating. Continental breakfast looked good with your basics of link sausage, two types of scrambled eggs, muffins, toast and coffee, juices etc. Best Western is the only place I stay when in Fort Lee. That said we have stayed at Best Western in Chambersburg PA. Also a good experience. They are also pet friendly hotel chain. chain.Definately a plus. Recommend Best Western.
This hotel is broken. We had three broken A/C units during our stay, dripping water all night and the fire alarm going off at 5am. After two rooms with broken A/C units, the last room they put is in had the A/C 'barely' functional. It made crunching and whirring noises all night. Didn't get into a 'barely' functional room until 12:30am because we kept being told to 'wait for the A/C to start working' which they didn't. At 5am the hotel-wide fire alarm went off because of 'smoke at guest breakfast.' When I expressed to the front desk that we didn't get into the final room until 12:30am, and was woken up at 5am she said 'That's too bad, are you ready to checkout?' I work at a hotel, I know when to comp a room, and this is exactly then. Handled unprofessionally.
Our smoke/fire alarms were chirping in the night so we had to disarm them in order to sleep. I order to partake in free breakfast a long sheltered outdoor corridor which connects to the main lobby does not have access without having to walk outside to get in. It was pouring rain the day we were there.
The first thing I'd like to say is the staff are super friendly and helpful so this isn't really about them at all. The location is not awesome if you are needing to go into the city often - perhaps we could have looked into this beforehand! But the location leaves you stuck on the side of a motorway with nowhere to go on foot. If you need to go out to eat or drink then you need to take a taxi/uber. This was really annoying as we were there for 4 nights. The very worst thing though is there is definitely some renting or using of rooms "by the hour". Lots of comings and goings, showering, headboard banging and moaning all through the night. Had to get moved from ground floor to top floor as the place is terribly insulated so VERY noisy. But affordable and with my ear plugs in, I had a good nights sleep
If you are staying in new york for a night and go to bus terminal the next day, note that if you are commuting and going to take a taxi: 1. It will cost you at least 35 USD (incl. toll) going to the hotel coming from 175th st. The taxi is very seldom in this area (175th) so we took a "private metered"car to take us there. Note: Taxi going to new jersey has to go back to new york and they have to pay toll fee 15 USD. 2. From the hotel to the GW bus terminal, you can ask the hotel reception to book a taxi for you, give an additional 15mins allowance as we booked for 830am but the taxi came at 845am. We paid USD 30 sunday morning. 3. To go and to come back NY-NJ it cost us USD65 for the taxis, so if we added this to the cost of the hotel, we could have booked a hotel near manhattan area. It could have been better and less tiring. About the hotel: - request for a room near the reception if possible. 2nd floor if u dont want loud footsteps pissing u off during the night. - clean hotel, a bit old, but for a day to sleep its okay. Bed is comfortable and pillows are so soft. - breakfast is good. Loved the sausage eggs and potatoes they served. They also have waffle maker so u can make ur own. Complimentary juice water fruits throughout the day. Water dispenser located near your room so check it out. - its a bit out of way and taxis are hard to find. Check ur transportation options before booking!
I stayed here a couple of nights for business. The staff was terrific, each one that I encountered was courteous, kind, and accommodating. The towels were very soft, pillow selection was awesome, breakfast was plentiful, and they even had cookies throughout the day. My only issues were the fact that there were no elevators, making my second floor room inconvenient having to carry luggage up concrete steps outside, we've wracking in heels when they were wet steps as well. Maybe it's the humidity, but there was also a very musty smell in the halls and my room. Once I was there, I didn't notice it anymore, but initially it was alarming. All in all, I would likely stay there again.
The hotel staff was great at check in, check out and breakfast!! I would recommend this hotel to anyone needing a place to stay in the area. The location was good as it was 15 minutes to Columbia Presbyterian Hospital.
We stayed 16 nights in this friendly hotel to visit New York. The hotel is convenient located. With taxi, bus and metro your are within an hour in downtown Manhattan. The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful, they gave us advice, called taxis and provided us with good information. We had a nice room in which we could relax after our long days on Manhattan. Every morning we had a tastefull breakfast with a lot of choises. Parking near the hotel is free.
my service was great, its a very comfy place, is quiet, secure, and friendly. I cant wait to utilize this service again. I had a small issue, but the staff was quick to get it fixed, breakfast was good, but most of all the staff is very helpful, friendly and kind.
The hotel made us feel at home at check in, provided us with information related to our next destination. Great service, great location and great staff attention to the customer. Room was great. Locaton was excellent for other activities, good base for visiting the New York City - New Jersey area.
when i checked in i was greeting warmly. Throughout my stay was nice...seems like they are renovating but it did not affect me. When i came down for breakfast i could not believe the size of the room. Its the same area I checked in but the food and service was nice.
This property is located near the GWB and all major highways leading into New York City and beyond to New England. The hotel is managed well, and continues to be improved with each visit I make. Morning breakfast supplies just enough to get one started for the day. I found the staff to be extremely helpful, and it was clear to me that they were willing to do all to they could to make guests feel comfortable..
The place is being renovated, while I was there the water pipe burst and they shut off the water in my room. The renovations are not being done up to par. Liked the location, but that's all I can say.
I frequent Best Westerns quite often for work as a Travel Agent and this time I was visiting home for Mother's day weekend and needed something quickly accessible from the city yet cost effective as I only needed somewhere to rest and wash. Upon arrival, it's not the most impressive- dashing from speeding cars on the highway isn't ideal for getting to the location but that's not the worst of it. I was given a room with a filthy bathroom initially and asked to change rooms, next room had ants everywhere and there were no other options so I was stuck with that. Not being a fan of bugs in any form, it did not make getting ready between my weekend shenanigans fun at all. Toothbrush had to be thrown out and replaced because ants wants to frequent every wall and counter once the lights go out. I'll be sure not to send any of my clients visiting NY/NJ there ever.
Our double room at BW Fort Lee was clean and comfortable, at a regular online price with free parking that is a bargain for NYC. It is a quick run across the George Washington Bridge from northern Manhattan and the Bronx. I have not stayed at its main competitor, the slightly more expensive Holiday Inn across the highway, but the BW Fort Lee seems a good choice for the budget conscious. The room and the two beds are large. The TV and internet worked fine. The bathroom was clean and had a nice large mirror circled by lights that worked well for my wife putting on makeup. The fan kept it from fogging when we took showers. The layout of the bathroom is a little awkward, with the towel rack more than ten feet from the shower at the end of a little nook with the toilet, and the water is more warm than hot. But it all worked. The breakfast is chain motel in variety, but it seems this BW does not use the BW for its food supplies. Some of the pastries were excellent, some not so much, and the tater tots were taste-inedible. Scrambled eggs and sausage links were standard microwave fare, and the waffles were batter-pour normal. Better coffee than usual. For less confident drivers, its roughly 60-degree right turn and narrow entrance directly off a busy highway might be challenging. The hotel layout is a lengthy one-way street, making it a long walk to breakfast and checking out. Staff was very friendly.
Excellent staff and overall experience was great. Will go back again....Will not hesitate to refer this hotel to friends and family... Keep up the good work....Could increase the space for dining though.
Needed a local place to stay since we were attending a concert at Bergen Performing Arts Center. Didn't want to drive home afterwards since it would be a late night. Hotel is located directly on Route 4 which is a very busy road leading to the GW bridge. Hotel was easy to find. Plenty of parking available. All staff encountered at front desk were friendly and helpful with directions. Breakfast was good with many hot and cold options. Small area for eating but it wasn't crowded for us. Room was spacious. Hallway and room looked very outdated but renovations were being done outside. Room was in ok condition with many holes in The walls. King size bed was very comfortable with enough towels provided. Room was quiet. Felt safe in area. Heavy traffic getting onto route 4. Good for an overnight stay if your looking for a reasonably priced comfortable room.
needed 2 rooms for an overnite stay across the bridge in Ny and this facility could not have worked out better. Minutes from the GW bridge, pleasant and accommodating staff, clean room and comfortable bed, and more than enough heat in room to keep us warm in outside single digit temps. Even though remodeling of the facility is presently going on, and the facility shows well...it didn't create any inconvience or noise during our stay. Breakfast was nice and served its purpose.Would recommend highly and stay here again. For the money, a no brainer.
All was good. My wife and I needed a place to stay that was near the hospital because I had an early morning procedure and we would have to leave in the middle of the night to get to New York in time. We did not want to spend a lot of money on a one night stay (the hospital bills will be bad enough). The room was clean and very quiet. Highly recommended.
the ceiling was leaking yellow, smelly water. There was no running water. The room was heated with a roll in radiator. The carpets were stained. The door had about a 1/2 inch space between the bottom of the door and the floor. It was VERY poorly insulated from the outside. The room temperature was around 50 degrees.
Unfriendly staff didn't want to help with my reservation. They told me all rooms with double bed are taken. Enterance to hotel was terrible. I almost hit the wall. I didnt have internet at all. I asked them about the issue but they didnt do ang thing about it.
For a low price this is a very clean hotel with very pleasant and courteous staff. Also very accessible to NYC. Everything in the exercise room appeared to be brand new. The complimentary breakfast was excellent.
Accommodations were poor at best. The toilet ran all night, the tub was in such poor shape that we both decided not to shower. The carpeting was soiled and the room smelled poorly. The heating in the room was challenging and required more manipulation from a customer than we have ever encountered. Except for the lateness of the evening and our fatigue from traveling, we would have sought other accommodations. Never again here.
My family and I had a very positive stay here. We had to stay longer than expected, and the front desk staff made sure that our stay here was a positive one. The staff I would like to mention in particular are Shay, Tish, Eva, and Christine. They were amazing. They went out of their way to accommodate myself and my family with anything that we needed. They were very personable and friendly. They definitely went above and beyond and made sure that my stay here was a pleasant one. Anything me and my family needed, they made sure we had it. I would most definitely stay here again, and I would hope to see the same staff at the front desk if I do so.
This hotel, off of Route 4 is close to NYC and convenient to the interstate. It's undergoing upgrades, which bode well for visitors in 2018. Rooms are comfortable and the amenities good. Staff was welcoming; check in was instantaneous. Good value.
Easy access to NYC and surrounding areas, despite requiring some daredevil courage exiting from and re-entering Rte 4 to get to/from the motel. This is a very decent and affordable place with a nice complimentary breakfast. The front desk and housekeeping staff are very pleasant and helpful. The motel could use some attention to upkeep and maintenance but it does try to make regular renovations.

As stated above. The non-smoking rule needs to be stricly implemented. We had to cancel the same night we checked in because our son who has asthma cannot tolerate it. We frantically looked for a new accommodation and were lucky to find one about 10mi away - night before Thanksgiving. The receptionist was understanding and didn't give us any hassle. She cancelled our 3-night reservation, and this reflected in our bank account. But it got debited again shortly afterwards. So we're still waiting for our refund from Best Western.
Clean and comfortable room and easy access from the highway. The heater in our room needed repair - it was stifling hot until we shut it off completely. The water valve leading to the toilet leaked, leaving a little clean water behind the toilet. No big deal, but I did notice it. VERY friendly and helpful staff, and I would stay there again.
The Best Western Hotel in Fort Lee was located in a great location. Near the main roads to travel New Jersey and New York. The building was in great condition and very clean. The bed was comfortable with plenty pillows and clean sheets. Furnished with nice wooden furniture and equipped with refrigerator, microwave and coffee machine. The bathroom was clean and spacious equipped with nice toiletries. Breakfast was great with many delicious choices. The staff was very nice and friendly.
The location is great and that is the only good thing about the place. I use hotel/motel WiFis to connect to back to work. I noticed that the WiFi wasn't working so I decided to call the front desk. No one answered. It took 6 calls to the desk to get a person to answer. What if it was an emergency.? What if I was having a heart attack? No one manning the front desk crazy. Ok I finally got someone to answer. I told him about the WiFi and I asked him for a 5:30 AM wake up call. I had an important appointment the next day. The staffer told me he tried to fix the WiFi but couldn't. He said it would be fixed the next day and no problem on the wake up call. 5:30 came and went no wake up call. Luckily I was able to wake up just in time on my own. That night again no WiFi I called the front desk and they said sorry it needs to be fixed. Two nights in a row with out WiFi and I need to do work back in the office. I have problems!! I confront the staff the next day when I'm checking out. I tell them about all the problems, they say we will give you a discount. Long and short of the story no discount and an unhappy client that will never stay there again. Stay far away from this place!!!!
We chose to stay here while visiting our grandson in Manhattan, a student at Columbia University. I would recommend using a GPS to find their location which is near the George Washington Bridge. This motel worked out great for us and was a pleasant respite from both the traffic and high prices of New York City. Although my booking confirmation indicated no meal included, we were pleasantly surprised to find that their full breakfast buffet consisting of eggs, sausages and waffles were included. The people at the front desk were most courteous and helpful. The only negative is that there were no restaurants adjacent, although you can have pizza delivered to your room.
This is not the place to stay if you travel with substantial luggage. Most of the rooms are on the second floor and luggage has to be carried up a flight of a dozen steps. The room was OK but there was a bug in the bathroom.
Had to kill a GIANT fly in the bathroom when I arrived, and a second dead fly was laying on the bathroom tiles. The carpet feels damp, gym is a joke, and the place smells like cigarettes. I was here on business and would NEVER choose to stay on my own accord.
Best Western receptionist gave us a lot of useful information and we were very glad to have such professional help during our visit. We are planning to visit Fort Lee soon and we will stay at this Hotel.
reserved room with whirlpool tub checked in only to find out room did not have whirlpool tub. when I called front desk was told the didn't have any available then asked for adjustment was told rooms were same price. at front desk clerk told me price would be adjusted on check out but was refused on check out. so was overcharged for room. access to hotel difficult directly on highway. hotel under full construction remodel and entire hotel smelled of paint even inside rooms. fitness room closed for no reason. a/c mounted above bed and does not shut off. remote didn't work from bed. toilet seat loose. shuttering sound from piped in walls every night. alarm sounded late at night with no contact or concern from hotel staff. entrance to hotel closed without notice from hotel staff for repaving. will never stay here again
Place was the WORST! Our room smelled wet, bathroom floor had mildew and it was slimy. The bathroom tub did not drain. Ice and vending machines did not work. Fitness room "out of order". Tried calling 24 hour front desk 3x... no answer! Oh and the topper..
The room was clean overall, and everything worked well. Ect. air cond., tv, shower, lights. But, there was a musty odor smell in the room. It was somewhat overwhelming, and my wife was upset about this odor.
Staff was friendly and helpful. Parking to the room was convenient. Room was nice with decent bed, small fridge, sofa bed, good wi-fi. Very convenient for going into Manhattan without paying Manhattan hotel prices. Bus available reasonably close to save Manhattan parking expenses and toll (Hotel is very close to George Washington Bridge) Downsides: Shower at 7:30 am was cold, though hot earlier in morning. Walking to bus a bit dangerous as there are no sidewalks on a major road. GWB bus hint: head to right after exiting to main road; look for cross street (Jones Rd) that goes over main road and walk up exit ramp, over main road, and left again to go back down to other side of main road to bus shelter. You can wait for NJ Transit bus or catch an "Express bus" (small bus) that seems to run more often. On way back, check NJT schedule before buying tickets at GWB! They don't always run very often, and the Express Bus might get you there faster. Ask for Jones Rd. They will drop you at shelter on opposite side from before (same side as hotel) just after where Jones Rd crosses main road. Head left from shelter (facing road) back to hotel.
The hotel location was good to get to Yankee stadium. Hotel staff were not very helpful with directions or overall info of area. Rooms were very small. There was aIot of garbage around parking lot area. I would recommend holiday inn across the street.
The first impression, the building smelled awful, the room carpet is so dirty, the room phone does not work, the A/C unit needs to be clean, the bed sheet is so filthy, the place is a dump. I don't think I would ever stay on any BW again in my life if I can help it. Would I recommend BW to anybody, no way this place takes the cake if you want filth this is the place.
Ugh! no service. smells like cigs. motel feel experience. extremely unclassy. staff did not make me feel welcome.they tolerated us.i asked for toothpaste and he said i have to go down to him to get it-he cant lift his freakin fingers and give some decent customer service. we pay over 130$ a night-we deserve to be traeted better than that. Do yourself a favor- stay far away from this rotten smelly "hotel"!!
Searched for last minute reservations and the Best Western far exceeded expectations financially and the accommodations were good! Staff was friendly and accommodating. Free Breakfast bar had many selections to choose for various eating habits
Not a Good Experience. The place is old looking and really needs to be remodeled. It smelled old and lacked any appearance of being up-kept. The breakfast was of poor quality and the breakfast area was very small.
No elevator access to second floor. The no smoking hallway still smelled like smoke. The free breakfast was great. The best westen was hard to find until you get close to it. The room was clean. The hotel manager helped us by giving a map to us off new york
Great price and breakfast was really good as well much more than we expected the hotel had plenty of parking and double entry maid service was great and check out was really easy as well we will definitely stay here again
When I arrived while the outside was not great I figured it would get better specially after speaking with the concierge at the front desk who was polite and as helpful as possible. However my stay went totally downhill from their. Everything about my room screamed cheap motel and it had a mildew smell. Rugs appeared stained and the decor was outdated in the 80's. Their was no functioning equipment in the fitness room and their were things broken or malfunctioning throughout the hotel and that included my room. I would never stay here again and would not recommend this place to anyone even I was paid to do so.
Stay was okay but standard was a little low for the Best Western Brand. Keys often did not work which meant walking back to the office (often with luggage or work material) to get the key reset. The wake up calls on the first 2 mornings were 1 hour late - apparently there was some problem with the phone setting. On the 3rd morning they got it right. Staff were all nice & tried to be helpful. I still enjoyed my stay. Breakfast was good.
Great, friendly staff, been going there for quite a few years.. I always get a good night sleep. Close to gab, buses, restaraunts etc.. You won't be disappointed.. the prices are resonable.... Nigh on town or just to relax
Will be back even though i didnt make it to my reservation. Discount will be appreciated. But when i did go in the beginning of May it was good and everything was perfect. Got there around midnight with no reservation, still got a room and got a good deal. Thank you
Our stay was short but we enjoyed it. There was no complaints. The front desk person was nice, rooms were clean, beds slept well. The breakfast was excellent. I kept hearing from everyone how well they rested. Thank you!
Excellent, excellent staff. Stayed for two evenings. Needed a place near NY city. Although not the closest one, price was very attractive. Staff doing maintenance to other rooms while we were there. Place looks kept up. A little difficult getting off route 4 ramp. Overall, I would stay there again.
We traveled New Jersey to see METALLICA and shop in the city really enjoyed our stay. Was a little tricky finding the entrance creeps up fast but the staff was great coffee and showers were hot and we were all happy ! Would stay again
the hotel had all of the basic amenities needed for our trip to NYC, the breakfast was kept fully stocked and pleasant experience. Not much selection however, but stocked and clean. we highly suggest you purchase the grayline tour through the hotel if you are visiting NYC! it saves you money with their free shuttle and less stress getting around the city with their hop on hop off bus. but buy through the hotel so you get the shuttle arranged for free through front desk at the hotel. bring lots of cash for tips though
This Best Western looks as though it is a converted motel. No elevator and the hallway was HOT with no air circulation. I had to hold down the toilet handle to flush. Also my closet door was off the track and the suitcase benches were rusty. The drawers were hard to open. The TV remote worked when it wanted to and the refrigerator was lukewarm even after adjusting the temperature. Also, I could hear the noise from the hall and sometimes the conversations in the next room. If you are elderly or in poor health this hotel is not for you. I had to walk a country mile and hike up uneven stairs to get to my room and to and from the lobby. I didn't need the exercise room that was conveniently next to my room. I was lucky no one use it.
We stayed here on my surprise holiday of a lifetime trip to New York. It was part of my Christmas/birthday present to see Jon Bon Jovi. Initially we were meant to stay in a more expensive hotel in Manhatten, but decided we'd rather have more spending money so looked for a cheaper hotel. After a massive disappointment by another hotel we chose the Best Western. Terri-Ann welcomed us and from the moment we got there looked after us, helped us get taxis and other transport plus made brilliant suggestions for places to visit and things to do. Always up beat and friendly, constantly smiling in a genuine friendly way that made our holiday so much more fun than before meeting her. Dora was always on hand in the morning to help with anything we needed, she is just as welcoming and friendly and is a credit to the hotel. Now onto the room..... Comfortable, spacious with all the amenities you could want. The bed was large and so comfortable I slept well every night. We had a supply of coffee and all the usual things like shampoo etc. Our room was cleaned every day and our towels replaced. Ok it can feel a little noisy sometimes but not to the detriment of our comfort. Some of the decor is due a revamp and as they have smoking and non smoking rooms you do get the aroma of cigarettes outside of your room, once inside though it's absolutely fine. The rooms are air conditioned and the bathroom has an extractor fan that comes on when you pop the light...top tip at night....use the timer thing if you only need to use the loo! Located well for NY and great for visiting NJ too, just be aware that you cannot walk to this hotel and so you either need to drive or use taxi drivers. I would happily stay again and recommend this to others, it is great value for money and the staff are amazing!
I gave this a 3 because of its cleanliness. I clean when I arrive and my cloth was still white afterward. Bathroom clean as well. However, there was an old, musty cigarette smoke smell both in the hallway and our room. The suite has a full/queen and a pullout couch beyond a wall. My son's bed, the pullout, did not come with a pillow or blanket which the front desk did bring up a sheet-like blanket upon request. We made a special trip to Walmart to pick up a cheap blanket & pillow for him so it wasn't a big deal. The bathroom: no washcloths, hot water came and went during our showers and the light with a vent fan is extremely loud and rickety sounding. We requested washcloths the first day but after enjoying a full day in NYC and coming back pretty late and tired, finding no washcloths on night two and three was more than disappointing. Washcloths are part of the deal in my opinion. Staff was friendly (except for the MIA washcloths), breakfast was adequate. All in all, the location and price made this a great vacation. The few irritating things we figured out how to cope. While it's certainly not the most attractive motel-hotel we've stayed in, it afforded us a nice time in NYC and it was clean! That's all that mattered to me. I'd recommend if these things wouldn't bother you.
This Best Western is a 1950s type of hotel with a second floor with many steps. The rooms are old and need to be updated. Our room has no light in the bathroom unless the ventilation fan is on. It is impossible to sleep with that noise. The room has no hot water. We complained and got a full room credit. Our stay was not worth it even for free. We are Best Western Platinium and this is the worse motel we stayed at. Never again.
Located adjacent to Hwy 4 with a one way system we found the hotel fairly easily. Check in was a little slow and the receptionist made a copy of my drivers license which I was a little uncomfortable with. Headed to our room and the corridor had a lingering odor of smoke as did our room. Room was fine and had a desk and chair, sofa and coffee table so room to relax. Bathroom was clean and had good counter space. Bathroom fan was very loud so hope it didn't disturb our neighbors. Bed was very comfortable but we were woken up at 3am with 2 guys speaking in a foreign language at the vending machines at the end of the hall outside our room. Breakfast was ok but rather limited but at least we had a table. Not sure we would stay here again although the price was reasonable.
Had an acceptable stay. Bed was bathroom were kept clean. Breakfast was always available. Staff was responsive and corrected anything out of place. Honestly a great spot if you'll be spending most time out in the city or NJ. It was comfortable and clean which is practically important.
Room was too small, access to the motel was dangerous, the parking lot was one way with no option to turn around. Guests had to walk from their room to the office area for breakfast. This was a hardship for my husband. The dining area was too small; but the breakfast food was good. Coffee was great!!
Aside from the Jacuzzi not working I found everything else comfortable with accessibility off of highway great. Breakfast was good for someone in a hurry. Bed was very comfortable and room was clean and nicely decorated.
We went to a concert at the Bergen PAC and stayed overnight at this hotel. It was affordable and a quick Uber ride away from the show. It sufficed, the room was dated, but clean. However, the hall outside stunk of cigarette smoke and chemicals... really gross. And there are old windows out to the hallway, which means we heard all of the talking and yelling up and down the hall all night, as if it was in our room. Needless to say, we didn't get much sleep. We skipped the cramped breakfast bar and, instead, went to Balthazar's for delicious pastries and coffee!
You can not find a better value in the Manhattan area. Right at entrance to GW Bridge there are hardly ever delays going to Manhattan. The hotel provides a very private parking lot. The rooms are comfortable and clean.
After 4 hours of checking out I realized I left my tablet in the room. I called and spoke with Joaquin to see if it was turned in by housekeeping. He said he will check and after I called again I was told that my belong isn't there. I followed up with few more calls but were told of same response. I am disappointed but not to surprised with today's society. Just wanted to let others know that make sure to check your belongings before your check out.
To make the long story short: I carry with me a children's tent (I fit in, kind of) to put on the bed if the hotel is unstayable but I have no other options. I had never used it until I stayed at this hotel. Worst night ever. Scary, dirty, so smelly, just terrible. 150 US dollars. I've stayed in better places for 65 dollars.
Dirty with dirt on the floors and vacuum cleaners lining the hallway, poor signage, tobacco-smelling rooms with rude front desk staff- more of a motel than a hotel. Ended up canceling reservation when we arrived, many better options for similar price points within the area.
I just want to say that the friendliness and helpfulness from the staff has been outstanding. My compliments to Tom Gatto the General Manager for running a wonderful motel. The rooms are clean and well kept. The hallways are kept very well. The beds are very comfortable. There is plenty of parking and a great location. Ludwig Kahn
From the minute we arrived, we found the Best Western Fort Lee staff to be kind, courteous, and very helpful, under the leadership of their General Manager Tom Gatto. The rooms were continuously kept very clean as were the hallways and breakfast area. We would not hesitate to revisit in the future. Mr. Gatto and staff, keep up the good work. Mr. and Mrs. Ludwig Kahn
I was looking for someplace cheaper to stay outside of NYC that would not be awful. That's what I found here. It is very close to the George Washington Bridge, so easy access to get to the city. I even walked across the GWB for fun - it was nice, but a long walk. I couldn't understand the person at the front desk when I checked in. I asked him to repeat himself a couple times, but to be honest, I'm still not sure what he was saying. But the staff did all seem nice. There was no TV remote in my room when I arrived, so I had to call the front desk that night when I noticed. They said they would send someone with a remote - within 10 minutes I had it. Pretty clean, but not perfect. Bed was very comfortable. Shower pressure very good. Couple of times during the night, I heard the neighbor's door slam, but it didn't keep me up. I did not hear the traffic at all, as other people have noted. Fridge worked fine for me - I had brought a couple drinks from home. Put them in when I arrived; when I got back that night, they were plenty cold. Breakfast was ok. Waffle maker, oatmeal, cereal, toast, bagels, pastries. Cramped tables was the only part I didn't like, but they make do with the space they have. Free parking is definitely a plus. Was it the best hotel I have ever been in? No. Did it serve it's purpose? Yes.
Old retrofitted motel. Rooms damp and strong smell of deodorant. Old refrigerator in room could barely get below room temperature. Electrical sockets would not hold plugs. Location looked convenient on map but was not
Not the best location, rooms were of poor quality, looked at a suite ,the furniture was old & used.Long walk from one end to office.Could not control a/c,room stayed cold, rooms were small, poor knees needed a elevator.the money I spent to stay at this hotel could have better spent staying across the hiway at the Holiday Inn.This is the worst hotel i have ever stayed in & I have stayed in a lot of hotels
The staff at the location is pleasant and accommodating. No matter what the request they served with a smile. Breakfast had a great selection for my picky teenagers and location is close enough to the city to enjoy the day.
Last leg of our trip and needed a hotel with easy access to the NJ Turnpike to go back to Maryland. When we entered into the building there was musty smell and the room almost knocked me out! The musty smell was overwhelming until we realized that the AC needed to turned on. After about 5 minutes the room smelled fine. The room was fine and the bathroom looked renovated. The free breakfast was disappointing but it is free! Overall our overnight stay was good.
Very pleasantly surprised Didn't think I would like this place Very clean Actually quiet as it is on Rt 4 Met the Manager while getting ice & he made sure if I had any issues to contact the desk Very soft towels!! Not a fan of the ac/ heat unit but it was sufficient
I might rate this a hotel a two or three in most other locations, but for a North Jersey hotel very close to NYC, I'll give it a four. It has very old bones and was originally built as an exterior entrance motel long ago. At some point they added an exterior facade with keycard access and lots of cameras for security. The extra layer of walls and windows also really helps to isolate the road noise from Route 4, which is like 100 feet away from your room. I stayed in a king room, #246, close to the lobby. The bed is very comfortable and the shower water pressure is very good. My room appears to have been fairly recently renovated. HVAC seems fairly new and works well despite the fact that the hallway is not climate controlled and feels like an inferno on a hot July day. TV was OK, there must have been some kind of interference with the satellite dish since the signal cut out constantly during my first night and occasionally during my second night. Wifi speed and connectivity was below average and cut out quite a bit. Pulling out of the parking lot into the main road into heavy 60MPH traffic was an adventure. Lots of local places to eat and many GrubHub options deliver here as well. For someone looking for a $100ish a night hotel convenient to NYC, this place is a winner. Will stay here again despite the shortcomings.
The Beds were very comfortable we wanted to know what the brand of mattress is. We would love to buy one of our own for our home. Could not believe how great we slept. I usually have a hard time not sleeping in my own bed but like I said I slept GREAT. I would recommend Best Western to everyone I know. and the rooms were clean and spacious. Tub could actually be updated but clean and it did its purpose.
Near to the GW bridge which it make it easy to drive or with a bus to Manhattan. Also two malls are near to the hotel. The staff is very nice and helpful for any needs. When we arrived we ask to get different room from what we reversed and they found for us a room that was suitable for us.
From the moment of the call to make my reservation to getting breakfast and checking out all the staff was very friendly. This included when I locked my self out of my room in the am. Everyone of the staff had a warming pleasant smile on their faces. The hotel was very clean and I was surprised since it was off the highway. The best hotel I have stayed at.
Close to NY cheap, fair and for $116 the hotel close to NY offers a clean bed, cold AC and a modest free breakfast. the room was small so its not a place fro 3 people to stay more than sleeping but that's fine
Excellent Location off of a busy interstate, great parking, excellent bed, bathroom, breakfast, rooms are small but awesome for the price. Hint get a room upstairs to avoid noise on your head. The staff will bend over backwards to help you.
the room is small and the sound_proof is not very good, shampoo and lotion offered are not comfortable. you can find some dust and little fragment in the corners and gaps, should notice the smoking room more clearly to customers when booking on line.
Hotels in the area had better pricing. Bathroom needs work. The cleanliness was ok. Some staff were courteous, front desk staff needs work. After a 8 hour drive , the hotel was a let down. no food options in the area. Getting in and out of the hotel was nerve wracking.
We stayed here to avoid overly expensive hotels while seeing New York for New Year's. It was a nice, clean place that was about $100. The free breakfast was nothing special. It offered the typical hotel breakfast: waffles, bread, oatmeal, coffee, etc. From here, we walked across the bridge into New York and took the subway to Times Square.
The room should be updated. The ac was confusing to use and it was either too warm or too cold. We also had small ants in the bathroom..not many but enough. The breakfast was stocked and enough variety that we didn't have to eat elsewhere saving you money.
Great place to relax and be away from the city. If you have to be in the city that's great but at night this is the place to be just a few minutes away from the pushing and rush of the madness. I love it. I'm from the south, I love the city but after a while... enough is enough!
In April, my wife and I decided to visit our daughter in New York City, New York from Knoxville, Tennessee. The drive is very long about 11 hours. I love to plan for our trips. However, New York City is not an easy area. We wanted to stay in New York for 3 days, which could have easily meant spending over $1,000 for a weekend. Like all savvy travels, I went to the trip forums to see how travelers maneuvered the high expense of staying in New York. Since my wife and I ruled out, staying on someone's couch or a private room. One of the biggest strategies were stay outside of New York. One of the best locations was staying in Fort Lee, New Jersey across from the Washington Bridge going to New York. The best option was Best Western Hotel in Fort Lee. The hotel is a good service chain with some additional amenities like continental breakfast. We had a history with the chain. It came with the best price at $108 per night. Hotel representative was kind. Check-in went smoothly. There are plenty of restaurants nearby. We stayed in Room 226, which was a standard studio with king-sized bed and one bathroom. The hotel amenities included complimentary Wi-Fi access and an exercise room. A downside is that the hotel looks old and worn out. Some major upgrades and modifications are needed to bring the establishment up to current customer expectations. A basic continental breakfast included fresh fruit, cereal, waffles, and pastries. I would highly recommend to others due to the quality of service and location, although don't expect anything too fancy looking. I'm giving this hotel a higher rating (not due to quality staying) because of its location and the ability to save guests lots of money visiting New York!
I reserved a non-smoking room, but when I arrived the room smelled strongly of stale smoke. The hallway outside the room also smelled of smoke and the whole place had a generally run-down feel. The receptionist offered to spray fabreeze in the room but that just made it worse. The receptionist offered to move us to a different room, but it didn't have the same amenities and it also smelled bad. He said it's a big problem at this hotel, people smoking in non-smoking rooms. I stayed in the original room hoping we'd get over the smell but woke up several times during the night with breathing problems. I cancelled the rest of the reservation and moved to another hotel. Ugh.
Very satisfied with the property, the service was quite good, the complimentary breakfast was excellent and the price was the best part. Best Western is literally right off the highway, minutes from Bergen PAC, will stay again! Thank you Best Western! Keep up the good work!
This is an everyday hotel experience. Clean, very comfortable beds, pillows too hard, high and stuffed for my preference. Staff excellent. Easy to miss off the highway but convenient once you know where it is.
i am an employee myself at best western, i stayed here for a couple of nights staffs were really friendly. mistakenly i made a reservation for the wrong dates call them if they could change it and they did...
Need to provide oven in the rooms, local shuttle and food should have more varities. rest all are good.value for money is lacking please do the needful.Highly satisfied by service of the team.thank you
This time was 5-6times visit. This hotel is little bit old but clean rooms. Breakfast was a normal with a normal continental breakfast. The rooms are located on the higher place than parking lot with a concrete stairs. It is no good for the senior or handicapped.
Although we had issues with the plumbing in the suite the experience was good. The front desk staff was polite and helpful, the cleaning person was quick to respond to our concerns and so was the plumber. The location is great because we saved money by being in NJ instead of Manhattan but travel to the City was easy. Overall a good experience.
The stay At the Best Western was completely clean comfortable and relaxing. The staff showed and exemplified excellence in customer care. Excellent pricing and excellent accommodations. We truly suggest this Hotel to all travelers in this region and the convenience of easy commute to NYC as well as eateries and shopping of different varieties and needs. A very quiet and restful stay.!???
Don't expect fancy, it's not. But it's clean and the bed was very comfortable. Staff was very friendly and breakfast was fine. The only suggestion for the hotel is to get new "extra" blankets. The fabric, if you can even call it that, felt like a styrofoam cup. I've never felt anything like it before. It was really strange. Otherwise, the hotel was fine for a quick place to stay the night.
An average motel that is fairly difficult to get to and from due to its location on Route 4. Not much within walking distance as the location is at the merging of several major roadways and the George Washington Bridge.
In January of this year I booked a one night's stay at this hotel through Price Line. I have stayed somewhat frequently at the hotel as I travel twice a year to New Jersey on business. The same day I booked my airline tickets with Alaska Airlines for the trip. More than 5 days before my scheduled departure I got sick and had to cancel the trip. I called Alaska and they were kind enough to cancel without penalty,. I called the hotel and cancelled with an employee at the front desk. Sadly I didn't get a confirmation of the cancellation. When my credit card statement came I was surprised. The statement shows the Alaska reservation and a balancing credit for the cancellation. It also shows the hotel charge with no balancing credit. I have been in contact with both Price Line and the hotel and they are both absolutely intransigent. I did not occupy the room and received no service from either company. But the hotel has pocketed my money less the booking fee that Price Line has pocketed. Watch your step with these folks.
The room was fine. However, I left several things behind in the room. My mother had died two days earlier and I came down to attend her funeral. None of the items I left behind, including a memory foam pillow of little value, were apparently turned in by housekeeping. The office was not helpful.
The hotel was okay. Bed was comfortable, shower was nice and hot, good water pressure. Room was clean, breakfast was fine. What was not fine was the fire alarm going off at 4:00 am for no reason. None of the hotel staff came to our room to let us know what was happening.
We had a weeding in Throggs Neck, New York and stayed in Fort Lee NJ to avoid going over the GW Bridge on a Monday morning heading home to Maryland. Hotel experience was very nice with a friendly staff that took good care of us. I would recommend it to everyone.
Service was friendly and super but the rooms need some updating. There was smell of smoke in the hallway, our room had that old motel stale smoke smell to it that wouldn't go away :( The rooms are tiny and the HVAC is noisy You get what you pay for
I loved the room but the problem was during the midnight . I woke up different times because the entrance door which opened to the parking lot was near to my room AND every one who wanna came to open his or her room from parking lot , should do stairs open the entrance room and then go to his or her room. Horrible for me. I chocked when I came to the parking lot , It was written : No responsibility for thieve or any damage. I also chocked when I saw the little paper regarding to the bed sheets: SAVE OUR PLANET: IF YOU WISH TO CONSERVE SIMPLY LEAVE THIS CARD ON YOUR PILLOW ....NOT CHANGING THE SHEETS. Make yourself ready for break fast :(
The hotel's staff was really nice & friendly. The hotel itself looked clean and my room was surprisingly really nice. The bad thing about this hotel is there's no elevator. So if your room is on the upper level, you'll have to carry your luggage up the stairs. I was able to get some help from the hotel staff, but it was still not good. There was a house phone outside my room that rang all day & night, ANNOYING!!!
not bad for the price.. convenient and free breakfast too. had some people from out of town stay here and for the price its good and with breakfast too.. located in a convenient location right on route 4.. it isn't the cleanest place, but again for what you are paying it was more than acceptable and decent friendly people seem to work there.
Very clean and pleasant--excellent value for money! Also the motel is very convenient to GW Bridge and Manhattan. Nice stores and restaurants nearby in Ft. Lee. This was my second stay at the Ft. Lee Best Western and each time was a pleasure.
gave me a king bed for 4 people and was lied to that there were no other rooms, was then given a room w a pull out couch that didn't have sheets or pillows and none were available, broken phone, noisy ventilation
Staff is totally awesome, but premises in general are kinda old. Good internet speed, nice breakfast but the dinning room is small. Room was clean but not pristine clean. While the night was quiet I was able to listen some other people around. Well located hotel, reasonable price. I would go again.
Stayed 2 nights for conference in Manhattan. Was less than 5 miles from NYC but price easily half the price of the cheapest hotels in NYC. Very clean, helpful staff. The only thing to watch out for is driving up from route 4, At night you could easily miss the entrance to the place.
This is a very good hotel for this kind of price. It is worth the money. The hotel location is near NYC and easy to go to the city by buses. Rooms are clean as expected. Staffs are kind. They offer free breakfast every morning from 6-10. Thanks
We booked this hotel based on price and proximity to our destination. The location is not ideal and hard to find but after riding around Route 4 West we were able to locate it. The manager was very pleasant but the condition of the hotel left lots to be desired. While there were no smoking signs throughout the property, our room and the hallways reeked of cigarette smoke. At 10 pm the fire alarm went off because apparently someone had been smoking in one of the rooms. We listened to the alarm for approximately 15 minutes. On the plus side, the beds were comfortable and the room was clean although it was past needing new carpet, an updated bathroom and a chair in the room. We would not stay at this property or recommend it to others.
For a single night's stay I chose this moderately priced location close to the George Washington Bridge. The entrance, right after a merge ramp off of a busy NJ highway, may prove difficult for some. This was my second stay here and it was based primarily on price. You get what you pay for; dirty hallway, poor HVAC in room, tiny bathroom lacking a toilet paper dispenser.
Enroute from NEW York City to upstate was able enjoy the city sleep well. have a healthy breakfast and easy access to interstate North. Great dollar value. THE george Washington Bridge is easy access to NYC. Route (W and NJ Turnpkie access easy.
This place isn't even a hotel, rather a motel. I booked thru Orbitz (which was great and did provide some compensation). A non-smoking room was reserved, but that is not what I was provided. The excuse was because we booked thru Orbitz they provided what they had. There was no place else to go, they were totally booked as were all the other hotels around. No apology, nothing from the hotel. The place is dirty, difficult to get in and out of, and presents nothing like the pics. In the morning when it was time for breakfast, the counter attendant looked like he just woke up from a rough night - he acted like it too.
Let me begin by noting, that if you are used to or are looking for a luxury hotel take your money and put it towards a higher price room at some high end hotel. Now for those of us, like myself, who are looking for an affordable hotel that is clean and worth the price, the Best Western in Fort Lee is a great pick. My brothers and I came into town for a Week this October - I was covering NYCC and needed a nice place to stay that would work into my budget. The room was very nice and clean and the bathroom was larger than expected - which was nice. The bed was comfy, the TV had a wide variety and great picture, and there was plenty of space for our belongings (bonus for extra outlets for charging phones and other electronics). The breakfast was nice (bagels, waffles, yogurt, cereal, breakfast sandwiches, etc) and my only complaint was that the lobby (where the breakfast is served) is not connected to the rest of the hotel which means you have to walk outside and then go into the lobby (luckily we had generally nice weather, but I wouldn't have wanted to make the trip for breakfast during the winter time or during rainy weather), also be prepared that if you get a room at the end of the building (like we did) you will walk quite a bit in the morning to get breakfast. The front desk and cleaning staff were great and my only negative experience was with the manager. As I said I was in town for business and internet access was a must. During a storm on Friday the Wifi was knocked out and it wasn't fixed until Monday morning when we were checking out. When I asked the front desk about the issue they told me to speak with a manager on Monday before I checked out and that he should be able to offer me some sort of discount for the inconvenience (after all I was there for the website I write for and internet was a must-have). However, on Monday the manager was nowhere to be found and (after multiple calls to the hotel) he/she has yet to respond to my messages. Wifi issues aside, I would definitely stay here again if I need to come back to NYC for another Comic-Con event.
I was staying here because it was close proximity to an event that I was going to. And I wanted to save $50 so I picked this place. It wasn't worth it. Place needs a remodel in the worse way possible.
Clean, newly renovated, great breakfast ("make-your-own" waffle maker with fresh blueberries and strawberries!) with a large variety of breakfast choices. Helpful friendly staff. Google map directions wrong - enter from south entrance. 15-20 minutes to Manhattan Sunday morning. Fridge didn't work, only negative. Best price from Booking.com!!! $112.00 late September
The location wasn't appropriate for non-drivers. The room, services, and so on were great. Quite east access to go NY. The restroom door lock was broken..bath tub was too small. House keepers were nice. The reception was good.
From a transportation accessibility standpoint, the hotel is nicely situated. However, the hotel is old. The carpet was very dirty, in desperate need of a replacement (stains galore). The bathroom was not inviting. I was happy to know that I only needed to stay there for one night.
it is good to choose this hotel to visit new york. the staff is very helpful to tell you a best way to commute to new york. you will not have to drive to that busy city and spend much on bridge and parking.
i stayed just for one night on business. the location is great for proximity to NYC. the staff is very good and quick check in and check out. Unfortunately the room had a very damp feel to it and the sheets had a weird odor. It was clean but the dampness made it fell not so... ive stayed here before and did not have that problem. other than that it is a nice place to stay...
