« Near the Heart Institute »

Very friendly welcome upon arrival. Upgraded when they found a suitcase still in the room we were assigned. Very close by to the hospital. Food was great at the restaurant downstairs. Check out was no problem. We would stay here again if we need to.

« Very Nice Hotel conviniently located »

I would recommend this place we had a very pleasant experience. We travel with 8 month old twins and they provided little cribs and the fact that there is a microwave and a fridge in the room makes it very appealing to us. Nice area of the city very centric.

    « Convenient, efficient, comfortable »

Always stay here for its cleanliness and access to and around the city. Lots of parking, staff really good, and the breakfast is top notch. You pay a small price for a tasty and plentiful breakfast with super service. Better than the included tasteless ones offered by other hotels, including BW.

    « Great Budget Option »

We stayed only one night before leaving Ottawa, great value, comfortable room and really friendly staff. The hotel is currently being refurbished but the room was comfortable and clean. The location is convenient for the airport, downtown and restaurants.

    « Amazing hotel »

Hotel was clean and well maintained. Staff were helpful and courteous. Hotel restaurant had good food and good prices. Close to attractions in the city. Easy to get to. 9/10 experience overall. There was someone smoking across the hall from us shortly after we arrived. I informed the front desk and they upgraded us to a top floor suite at no charge because we had a 9 month old with us. Excellent service. Would recommend

    « GREAT HOTEL »

We stayed in this hotel for almost 6 months and it was fantastic. The staff made our hotel experience exceptional. Adrienne and Stefanie were extremely helpful, friendly, and accommodating. I can't say enough about the staff - they truly made our stay feel like home. There was ample parking throughout our stay. The WiFi connection was great in the rooms. We will definitely be coming back!!! Thank you Best Western staff!!!

« Great stay in Ottawa »

Room was exactly as advertised. Hotel has been recently updated and you can tell. Staff were very warm and friendly. Lots of parking on site. Hotel was easy to find (right off the 417) and the centre of Ottawa is a quick drive away.

« Superb Staff with service above and beyond expectations!! »

My wife and I stayed at this hotel last Thursday and again on Monday night while in Ottawa as we visited family in the surrounding area and near Toronto. We must say the staff from the moment we arrived and left went over the top to make sure we were welcomed and treated us so kindly in every respect. It is clearly evident, they have superb managers who know how to treat staff including the staff on the front desk, to the cleaning staff and the restaurant staff. When we arrived we were greeted by such friendly staff who provide us with a drink voucher. Thinking we were too late to catch the restaurant & bar at 10:30 , Jory, quickly responded and brought us supper and wine to our room. On Monday night we were late getting in from the Sens game and while looking for some munchies at 11 PM , Jory again came to the rescue, stayed late and delivered wings and wine to our room. I heard Fran made it all happen...I must say the service at this hotel is one in a million!! Thanks to all staff for making us feel at home.

« Good hotel, good location, restaurant a nice touch »

Our family enjoyed 6 nights at the Best Western Plus during the March 2018 spring break - we visited Ottawa from Vancouver, BC, with our 15 year old son and Mom/Dad of course. The Room Our room was on the 4th floor (that's the top floor) with 2 queen beds, non-smoking. We would recommend the top floor of any hotel that's not full concrete construction, as it avoids any noise from people walking or running on the floor in the room above you - not pleasant when you're trying to sleep because you're on a different time zone. The room was large and spacious with a desk and round table, and kept tidy and clean by the hotel staff throughout the week of our visit. The beds were very comfortable, as were the pillows. Drapes were blackout, and the heat/air-conditioning unit was about as quiet as you can get for an in-wall unit to the exterior. You can hear hallway noise - such as housekeeping staff or other guests talking/running down the hall - for this reason, we would recommend you ask for a room on the end of the hallway, to minimize other guests having to walk by your room. Oddly, there was no do-not-disturb sign to put on the outside of the door. The TV was a large flat panel with a good image, and the room included a microwave and fridge. The fridge in our unit did emit a high pitch squeal, so we unplugged it at night - though I expect this was a unique problem to our particular fridge - note the fridge is housed in a wooden cabinet to help contain any buzzing noise, which, other than the high pitch squeal, was minimal (suggest hotel facilities take a look at this fridge). If you have a child with a gaming console, bring your own HDMI cable (the TV won't have one, as it's connected to a data network for service). Restaurant The hotel has an excellent restaurant. They serve breakfast until noon each day, and I believe later on the weekends. And the breakfast is excellent, service friendly and prompt. And prices are reasonable. We would highly recommend having breakfast at the hotel restaurant each morning. I enjoyed eggs and bacon with toast several mornings, my son eggs benedict, and my wife an omelette. If you are gluten free, they have an option for gluten free toast! Oh, and they will do room service for you too. Parking Is free, and there was ample space for us to get a spot close to the door no matter what time we returned to the hotel at the end of each day. Other Services One big bonus is a 24 hour Shoppers Drug Mart across the street from the hotel - and it's a large Shoppers with lots of the common stuff you might need during your stay. The hotel is close to the 417 highway, and is centrally located in the metro-Ottawa area. WiFi was fast and reliable in the room. We did order Chinese food late one evening from the binder of recommended restaurants in the area that was included in the hotel room - the delivery was prompt, and the food was excellent, plus the delivery person very friendly. There is also a laundry room in the hotel for guest use - we didn't use this service during our stay.

    « A short stay »

We stayed here one night, arrived late and left early in the morning. We found the room to be clean but nothing special. The beds were okay, my one daughter found the room to be cold. What was really annoying was that the phone in the room rang at around 2 in the morning. The person on the other end was claiming to be the front desk, asking for our credit card information as their system went down and they lost it. We figured it was a crank call and hung up. It ruined our sleep and we were not to happy. Told the front desk in the morning and he mentioned that it has happened before. Someone could be duped by that , especially when they are half asleep.

« Starting to Need Upgrades »

I wish I could make this review a 3.5 because that's where it belongs in my opinion. This is our third time staying at this hotel in the past 5 years and we have seen changes just due to time and wear & tear. The first time we stayed the bed was so comfortable we actually found out what the mattress was and we have that same one at our house- this time not so much. I don't know if they changed mattress types or if they just haven't updated but I found the bed to be somewhat uncomfortable this time around. The rooms are still decent but they need upgrading- mosly smaller things like painting etc. Our tub worked fine but the faucet handles were missing trim parts and the removable cover on the front to access the jacuzzi motor was barely hanging on. The breakfast was fine but certainly not fantastic. I am not sure this has as much to do with this hotel as it does in general with hotels that offer complimentary breakfasts. I think we have grown tired of them over the years as they are mostly bland. Just a personal opinion. The common areas are clean and the staff was very friendly. While this is still a good hotel, I think if we come back to Ottawa in the near future we might try something different.

« Last minute booking to attend a funeral »

Had a very nice stay at this hotel compared to Travelodge where we stayed previously which was terrible. The staff at Best Western were pleasant and helpful. The room was nice and the beds very comfortable. Would definitely recommend Best Western Plus Ottawa for your next stay.

    « Hospital stay »

The hotel is within easy walking distance to the Civic, 15-20 min, or a short cab ride. With evidence of a medical appointment there is a discount on the room. A coupon was received on checking in for a free beer, wine or beverage in the bar.

    « Nice and clean »

We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights. It was very nice and clean. Bedding comfortable and staff was very accommodating. The restaurant was clean and not busy. We had some nice salads with chicken or salmon.

« Clean, quiet and great customer service - no free breakfast! »

Veery clean and and quiet. Location isn't the greatest but you wouldn't be staying here for that reason. Choose a hotel closer to downtown if you are a tourist. Easy check in, great customer service. The only thing that would make this hotel great is a free breakfast. A little pricey for the location!

« Not up to BW expectations »

The rooms in this hotel are fine with lots of space for working. The laminate flooring in the rooms does not clean well giving the impression that the floors are dirty ( when they may not be.)Had a room with a leak in the closet but was taken care of and room change was done well. There is no breakfast included in this site which is something that I have come to expect as a Diamond BW points member. The restaurant is Ok but the menu is a bit limited and the prices a a bit high for what you get. The prices for the rooms however are attractive for Ottawa and the location was good for where we were working.

    « Very poor service »

Stayed at this hotel for a bit, and had such a bad experience. Booked it online, so we couldn't get out of the reservation. People beside us were smoking joints a lot and the smell was really disgusting (even in the hallways). The room does not look anything like it does on the pictures. A few times when we were gone we came back without our rooms cleaned, and they told us that they couldn't do anything about it because the cleaning ladies weren't there anymore. I made one call for two minutes to Gatineau and had them charge our room 10$ extra (when Gatineau is not long distance?). Also, my boyfriend injured himself, and there was NO FIRST AID KIT OR ICE... and the front desk told us to walk to Shoppers Drug Mart to get ice OURSELVES across the street?! (After going to buy ice, we realized they have ice in the back of the hotel which they didn't tell us) I'm sorry but I travel the world as an athlete and it's really sad to see Ottawa (my hometown) having the worst service out of all hotels I've been to. Also, I had a meeting with the manager and she did not care at all about our complaints. I don't like complaining but I needed to post this so they can at least buy a first aid kit (so the next person doesn't take them to court).

« Perfect room, restaurant and service was great! »

I usually stay at holiday inn, but because of the convenient location of this hotel, I gave it a try as it was recommended. It was perfect, the room, the in hotel restaurant was very good and really convenient as well. The staff was great, especially reception. I'm going to continue using this one during my stays in Ottawa. Joe Jensen

« Nice hotel to stay while in Ottawa »

Good hotel to stay in while in Ottawa. Staff was really nice. The person who checked me in was really nice and gave me a wealth of information about the hotel and the BW rewards program. Room was too cold for my liking but overall it was a nice, clean room.

    « Pretty good stay! »

I stayed here for one night in January of 2018. I had an appointment in Ottawa, so I only needed a place to sleep for the night. I booked on Hotwire for $103 per night, including parking. The hotel is conveniently located, easily accessible off the 417. It is located within walking distance of several restaurants and shops. The public bus has a stop out indeont. The outside and parts of the inside of the hotel are dated. However, there appear to be ongoing improvements. For example, my room had new hardwood floors and updated bedding. The hotel staff were all considerate and customer service oriented. Whenever I engaged with them, they asked how my stay was going and if there was anything they could do for me. The room itself was well equipped with a bar fridge and microwave. The website advertises that each room has a hair dryer, but I admit it took me more than a few minutes to find it (it was hanging on a hook on the back of the bathroom door). The only negative thing I have to say about the hotel is that I found it quite noisy. I could hear other hotel patrons walking and talking down the hallway and I could hear noise in the rooms around me. However, I did not call the front desk to complain nor did I ask to be moved to a quieter location. I feel that if I had, my request would have been accommodated. I would stay at this property again for short term stays in Ottawa.

« Good place to stay for a quick visit. Little far from the parliament hill. »

We stayed here for 3 days during our trip to Ottawa on the Canada day weekend. The hotel is a little far from the parliament hill and bus service is not so good. But this is not a problem if you have a car, or like our case Uber. It worked well for us, because we wanted to avoid the crowd. We didn't use the hotel facilities much, neither did we eat there. But the room was quiet and the staff was nice. We didn't have many demand and didn't want to be bothered much. We got the privacy we needed. There is a nice diner called Rocking Johny and a shopper's drugmart across the road. I will probably stay here if I visit Ottawa again.

    « Great location »

Great location close to where I needed to be the following morning. Big rooms, somewhat old and they would welcome some renovations. Beds were too soft. No breakfast included which, including the overall experience, made me feel the fare I paid was quite overpriced.

    5
    « Great Change! »

Love the new exterior changes you have done to the property! Looks great and like the new and quiet Ac/Heating units in the rooms, what a big difference, your rooms looks great! Nice to see continuous efforts are being made to improve the appearance of the hotel. Keep it up!

« Average hotel but clean »

Stayed for one night. Room is very clean. Not much around in terms of food. The lounge/bar is poorly staffed and the food isn't great. Better to order in from outside. . Wake up call didn't come. Front desk is skeleton staff which means waiting in line for some time.

    « Great location »

Starting with the check in,it's a positive experience. Beds are a 10+ ,rooms nicely decorated , the lady who made up our room was amazing, she could not do enough for us. We ate in the restaurant, good food ,reasonable, good service.

    « Better Than I Expected »

We haven't stayed at a Best Western for years, because we were not impressed by the chain. I booked three nights at this one because of its proximity to family in the area. In the end, it was better than I expected. There is construction/renovation going on at the hotel, so when we arrived, it did not look promising. The entrance is small and uninviting, and my heart sank. The situation did not improve with the person who checked us in. Despite the fact that I had dutifully filled in the "preregistration" form sent to me by email, she asked us twice whether we had a car (we didn't), and she was under the impression that we needed a pull-out bed (we didn't). On top of that, she asked me write in my husband's name beside my own. Why does the hotel need that? I had asked for a high floor--and the check-in person gave us a room on the second floor. The hotel has only four floors, but still: What's the point of letting guests make requests if they are simply going to be ignored? When we got to the room we were surprised to find that there was no carpet anywhere on the floor. This probably makes cleaning easier, and in general I would prefer it, especially in the summer. However, it was extremely cold in Ottawa that week, and cold bare floors were not so nice for walking on. We were in Ottawa during a major cold spell. On our first night, we kept cranking up the thermostat, but still felt cold. The next day we asked for additional blankets, and they were supplied. On subsequent nights we were warm enough. On our first morning, we were wakened by a wake-up call at 7:00 am--which we did NOT ask for. We spoke to someone at the desk, and sure enough, a wake-up call was listed for our room--yet another indication of the problems the hotel seems to have with keeping accurate records for its guests. So there were a number of glitches at the beginning of our stay. But after that, everything gradually improved. Our room turned out to be extremely large, with far more space than we needed. There was a full-size closet--something that is often missing from the rooms in other hotel chains. The bedding seemed to be new. The sheets were comfortable and not coarse, the way they often are in mid-range hotels, and the mattress seemed relatively new, without the usually ridges and hollows that well-used hotel mattresses unfortunately develop. There was a small fridge and a microwave. The room had a comfortable desk and chair. The Wifi worked perfectly; I never had problems with it, and it was included in the cost of the room. The water pressure in the bathroom was excellent--I really enjoyed my showers. The water was, however, very very hot; people with children would have to be extra careful. I discovered the exercise room on my second morning. It is small, with just a few machines, but I really enjoyed using the elliptical on a couple of mornings. Suggestions for the management: 1) Check on the air circulation. The room smelled very strongly of plastic, and never seemed to air out. 2) Maybe consider getting a machine with a screen that is not six feet off the ground. For a short person like me, it was impossible to look at without bending my head back. Instead, I read a magazine while I exercised, although light bouncing off the page made reading somewhat difficult. We ate at the little cafe in the basement once, for breakfast. Again, it did not seem promising: Who wants to eat in the basement? But the server was unbelievably prompt and efficient. Our breakfast came very fast and was quite enjoyable. Just the usual eggs and toast, but it was delicious. For the most part, the hotel was reasonably quiet and peaceful. I believe the construction work was suspended for the week, because of the extreme cold, so we did not have to deal with noise from that--and in any case, we were given a room far from the construction site. Some people came in very late on the third night, and seemed to be moving furniture at 1:30 in the morning--but I guess people will always be inconsiderate.

« Very good considering they are under renovations »

Clean room, great beds, great wifi, TV needs to be clearer and the staff are excellent! Centrally located right at the Queens way also shopping mall right across the street. we will return o this hotel.

« Check in ruined visit »

The room was nice and check out staff were great but that check in person was to be honest a nightmare. It was like he did not want business and As I was waiting in line he was in an arguement with another customer. I like Best Western and will stay at others but this was a unique bad experience.

    « Hospital »

Overall stay was excellent the food was extremely good and people may not know about restaurant as it is located in the basement kind of out of sight. The carrot cheesecanke was to die for. The staff are extremely friend and make lots of suggestions

    « Gymnastics competition »

We have stayed many times at the Best Western, each time for men's gymnastics competition. It serves the purpose for a one or two night stay in the city. It has a gym and a restaurant but no pool. It is located across the street from a small mall with a Monkey Joes and Shoppers Drug Mart. The room is a good size. I like that the toiletries are a full bottle size and attached to the walls in the bathroom. So if you like to take home the trial size toiletries as souvenirs, fuggitaboutit! On my arrival, the hotel looked like it was under construction. I was told that they were replacing the a/c units. When I entered my room, there was an old, broken down air conditioner on the floor. I called the front desk to have the old a/c unit removed from the room and I was given the same information about the units being exchanged instead of having it removed from the room for my stay. I was very disappointed that they would give me a room with an a/c unit on the floor and then even more disappointed that they would not remove it when I requested. So for that part I was not pleased about at all. The room and stay itself, was as usual, fine.

« Do not recommend this spot »

Outdated, lights in room did not work, no carpet even in hall. Cold slippery floor. Not enough bedding. HVAC sitting on floor, view from hotel window is a parking lot full of lumber and construction. Heat could not be adjusted. Small tiny old tubs. This was an Upgrade to business class room! Not even coffee or breakfast included. Price for one night with taxes $260.00. NOT WORTH ANYTHING LIKE THIS. Staff was nice. Room was clean. The person next door sounded like they were having a shower in my room! Not good soundproofing!

We always stay in the same hotel in Ottawa and find it very relaxing after ort busy family visit we will continue staying at the same address to accumulate points and upon more travels surge for BW hotels.

    « I will be back »

I stay at multiple different Best Western and Best Western Plus hotels often for both business and pleasure. The experience is consistently excellent in service. There is often an element of construction that is unfortunately a part of improvements, however it very good to see the ongoing improvements. I so plan to be back soon.

« good hotel well located but pool is seasonal only »

the hotel was really clean and rooms were great. The staff was really friendly. However, we hear the elevator even if our room is located a few rooms away and the pool is seasonal so not great for hockey teams during hockey tournaments

    5
« Great place to stay »

Very clean and spacious rooms. Came with microwave and fridge. Food at the hotel was very good and not expensive. Other very good restaurants located close to the hotel as well. Close to off on ramps of the 417.

    « Great Hotel! »

This Hotel is great - clean and comfortable. The staff goes out of their way to be friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The restaurant is also very nice! Delicious food, nice atmosphere, friendly people and reasonable prices.

    3
    « Excellent location »

Not many other choices at this price in this vicinity of Ottawa. Staff made the best of the situation as there were major renovations being done during the time I was there. Restaurant was good - the one staff was very busy but helpful.

    5
    « Great value »

Excellent service and friendly staff. I always make this "my home away from home" when in the nation's capital. It is a good location near restaurants, hospitals, museums etc. I would recommend it in a heartbeat!

« Stay during the Grey Cup 2017 »

Great hotel. Friendly staff. Takes time to maintain hotel and let their guests know of any upgrades happening. Not too many amenities in the area but a simple shopping mall in the area and bus stop access. Close to hwy access.

« A very good address to stay in downtown Ottawa ! »

This Best Western Plus Hotel in Ottawa is certainly a very good choice. We stayed there for two nights and were totally satisfied. Everything was good, from the check-in to the check-out. Personnel was very friendly and competent. The breakfast was also very good. However, if you can, try to avoid the rush hour as it can get very crowded!

    3
    « Hotel stay »

Construction equipment everywhere outside. Parking was farther and limited to accommodate for this. Nose level was too high and ongoing to 4am. This could of been managed better by staff. Breakfast in restaurant was really good but would be nice if was opened earlier on weekends also.

    3
« OK hotel but not really centre »

I wasn't paying attention enough when booking this place and just thought it was city centre based on name. It's not really city centre. On a busy road near a mall. I think its ok if you don't want to be in walking distance to anything downtown and just need a quick spot to stay.

    4
« BW Plus Ottawa City Centre »

Easily accessible off highway, friendly staff and very spacious comfortable rooms. There is not an included breakfast with this hotel (which was disappointing as we appreciate that feature with most best westerns) but they have a restaurant on site for meals. It is too bad the hotel and restaurant don't work together to coordinate this as a plus feature for guests (ie BW in Cornwall has their own restaurant which provides full breakfast for hotel guests as part of rate).

    4
    « Good,Clean, comforatable »

Had a great stay, no issues at all. I had a great time, will return again, soon., but not in winter, maybe summer, when its warm and sunny and warm. I really like warm weather, especially the start gazing at night, which this hotel is in a great location.

    5
    « Very Pleasurable Stay »

The hotel was one of the nicer hotels, I have stayed at, in the past year. The staff were exceptional and the location was perfect, for us. Any issues just talk to the staff, they were always there to help, quickly. (Just ask Sherry)

    5
    « Great stay!!! »

Location and hotel are fantastic. Visit Golden Palace chinese restaurant for the best egg rolls in Canada!!! Shopping mall across the street with Pub/Resto and shops. Easy on/off the 417 highway from both directions.

    « visiting my dentist »

This hotel is located most conveniently for the sights in Ottawa as well as across the river in Quebec. It is close to shopping and on bus lines to get downtown.. For my needs, it is across the street from my dentist office and very close to my eye doctor, both of whom I visit at least once a year. I usually stay at the City Center Ottawa for this convenience. As well it is close to the Queensway entrance which facilitates our trips.

I find the renovations to this hotel...which are still ongoing...have made a stay at this facility to be an upgrade and staff are well trained , courteous and efficient. I will stay here again and would recommend it to friends and associates.

« Not worthy of the Plus designation »

Stayed here on points so I can't comment on the cost. The room, though dated, was spacious and well furnished. the furniture was a little tired, especially the bed. There was a microwave and bar fridge in our room. The shower had great pressure and instantaneous hot water which was great. Wifi service and tv worked well. Check in seemed to take a long time especially since I had checked in on line and arrived within my requested early check in time. There's some shopping and eating venues nearby, but due to rain, l was unable to check them out. There is a restaurant in the basement level which the staff highly recommended. I didn't bother. Sounds like there is some room renovations going on. I could hear construction noise even at 6 pm. As an FYI, we used this location for an over nighter prior to a flight. Taxi cost about $31 and took about 15-20 minutes.

« Good value for your dollar »

I stayed one night at this hotel while I was in Ottawa on business. It was clean, quiet and well run. I would easily recommend that anyone stay there. This is not a fancy hotel, more basic than flashy, but the value for the money spent is quite good and if you are just looking for a place to sleep it's a good choice.

    « Convenient location »

Very convenient location with easy access to everywhere I wanted to go (downtown, Bank St, etc.). Easy access to and from airport. Lots of free parking. The hotel and my room were clean and nicely decorated. The control of temperature in room was very good (both heating and cooling). Good sound proofing between rooms as never heard neighbors. My room was next to stair exit, so did hear hall noise in the mornings. Two down sides to the experience. First was the restaurant, the breakfast is not included in price of the room. Admit that was a surprise as for the price of the room, would expect breakfast to be included. The quality of the breakfast was just okay, the over easy eggs were dry and overcooked as was the toast. The waitress did make it right, but that put me in a hurry as had to wait for the recook. My biggest complaint is with the bed. It was so soft that my back and neck hurt. So, if you like soft beds, this is the hotel for you.

Conveinent location within Ottawa easy access to just about anywhere with easy access to the major cross town highway. Lots of free parking. What you would expect from a Best Western. Clean and tastefully decorated rooms. Restaurant in hotel a bonus.

« Worst hotel experience ever »

First of all I can the Saturday night around 11-12pm to check in (no reservation) I was kind of désespérante because there was no other hotel available in Ottawa and I'm not from there. And they gave me the most expensive room (218+ tax) and i am sure there was cheaper because I ask the guy to have a regular double bed room that is usually around 160 and he said let me check.. yes i have something.. and another guy (the manager I think) just can and interrupted him and said no we don't have any but we have the king room at 218+tx I try to argue but I was very tired and just wanted to sleep at this time. So before I came to this hotel I ask to pay for my deposit cash and they said yes. When I arrived I was told that it has to be on credit card. My credit card was over limit so I called my boyfriend to send me money so I can book the hotel. And they told me I needed 200$. So I waited 40 minutes for thé money transfer my boyfriend send me to arrive. When it arrived I gave them my credit card and they said. Oh it's refused. And I ask why... he told me that he have to put 400$ something in my card (the deposit+ the room) and I asked him why he didn't tell me that before? So after he saw I was very tired at almost 1 am and almost crying he let me get the room. And I asked him if the 2 next days I could get a room cheaper (Sunday and Monday) and he told me it was the same price there was no other room available. So I was like ok I will just take for tonight and I will check out tomorrow. So the next day I didn't wanted to leave the hotel but it was very expensive and I felt like the guy was lying and trying to get me the most expensive room. So I asked my boyfriend to do a call on him cellphone to ask if he could book one night at the hotel and ask for the prices. And the lady told him double bed is 160. I was very mad that the guy lied to me. And I went to the lobby and told them that. They told me I could stay in the same room I was for the price of 170$.. I didn't understand why the same room was now cheaper and that why the guy on the Sunday night told me if I was staying it would be 218+tx even for the others extra night I was staying. Anyways I took 2 more nights (Sunday and Monday) I didn't returned to the lobby until Monday night to check out. But I saw that on the night of Sunday-Monday at 2:33am I was charged 179$ on my credit card. Why? I found it was weird. So when I checked out I paid my amount of my 3 night 630$ and I asked them why i have been charged 179 and they told me they thought it was weird since it was in the nighttime and i haven't went to the lobby and asked for an extended stay at 2:33 am.. so they told me it was just on hold and it was not charged. But on my account it was charged. So I called visa and they told me it was charged and not on hold! Anyways they told me there was nothing they could do and to call the manager the next day.. I was very upset since I was leaving the town without my money back ... the next day I see in my bank account that they gave me my 179 and 235$ that's I think was a deposit... but they gave me two times. They gave me more money. I thought it was weird but maybe a mistake of their own. And thought I would not do a bad complaint about this since I received some money to make me forget my bad experience. The next day they took the 235$ back. It is just weird and all of the employees gave me bad attitude and I was very nice and trying to explain my best in the english language since I am French and all I got was attitude and rude ! I am very disappointed and will write other reviews on yelp and google.

    « Kind & Helpful Staff »

While our son was at the Trauma Centre, Ottawa Civic Hospital, Jennifer & Stephanie & other staff made our stay extremely pleasant. We thank them for their kindness. It won't be forgotten. Nice washroom & great beds. Fridge, micro, & big screen TV. Nice job refreshing the rooms. Our first choice should we return under more pleasant circumstances.

« Business stay in Ottawa »

The service was very good from check in to check out. The room was clean and comfortable. The food in the restaurant was good, i wasn't looking for anything fancy, just a light dinner. The bar is connected to the restaurant and has a pool table.

« Great Room, Great Price »

Stayed here for business recently. Was looking for something downtown, but for whatever reason their prices were outlandish. So booked here and was not disappointed. Great rooms, decent location, but you will need a car or use a taxi to get around. The restaurant downstairs is very convenient and great, but more than one night in a row and it could get tired. Not much around within walking distance, I saw a Monkey Joes across the street, but didn't try it. Was very happy here!!

« Trip to the capital »

This is a great hotel. Close to downtown but not in the core where parking and driving is a problem. Excellent price for the countries capital. I would suggest if you are heading to Ottawa you check it out.

« A well recomended hotel to stay if You are visiting Ottawa »

Well Jennifer at the front desk was so good and it made my stay a wonder full experience. Also Stephanie at the front desk and Sherry are also extreamly nice and help full. They are KEEPERS to never get replaced because it will hurt the hotel.

    3
    « STAFF IS EXCEPTIONAL »

Staff exceptional. Restaurant poor, and location in the basement is not acceptable for us. The room was very nice, but the bathroom design left a lot to be desired. One had to stand on the toilet in order to close the door. So unless you are a super skinny tiny person, good luck with the door. Otherwise the stay was quite pleasant.

    4
    « Good Stay »

My wife and I stayed for three nights while we explored Ottawa. Staff was friendly and helpful. Room was clean, bed comfortable and we appreciated the hard wood floors. Although not in the center of town we found it easy to travel to the major museums and Parliament buildings. Takes about 5-10 minutes to get to Parliament Hill.

    4
    « Very green hotel »

We are very happy that all the lights that we could tell in the entire building were upgraded to led bulbs. Also there was a smart thermostat and very helpful staff. The tv is large the WiFi is strong and the parking is free. These are amenities that are often missing from downtown hotels which is why we opted to stay a few minutes outside of the city. Could use some updates but it's comfortable and clean.

    5
« Excellent Staff and amenities »

We stayed for one night and was extremely pleased with the service and the meals. The staff was very pleasant and professional. We love our room, our meals, and the decor and cleanliness of the hotel.

« Good Value and Great Location »

I've stayed at the Best Western Plus at 1274 Carling a number of times and will be back. There's free parking, a neat restaurant with a good menu, especially for breakfast, the rooms are spacious and clean and the staff go out of their way to make you feel at home. The hotel is well located, across the street from a shopping centre, a short drive from an Ontario liquor store, close to Little Italy on Preston Street and not far from Richmond Street, one of Ottawa's trendy shopping destinations.

    4
« Great value for downtown. »

Good location no to far from the Parliament buildings and Walking distance to many restaurants. Spacious and clean room. Everything you would hope for at an affordable price. Be mindful of the bike lanes when driving in and out.

    4
« Very friendly and helpful staff »

An out of town hotel with parking. 15 min bus ride into downtown (10 dollar day pass) - worked well for us. Restaurants a 5 min drive away. Breakfast cooked to order; good choice menu - good value for the price. Reception staff very helpful and friendly. Especially Stephanie. Room was large and comfortable. A microwave / fridge for those who need them. Good air con.

    4
« Excellent staff, good place »

Good choice if you want to stay short term and you have a car, the place is very close to city center, the reception (Mr. Daveson) was extremely helpful, more than you can imagine! he continuously checked with us if everything is fine with our stay, I appreciate this attitude.

    « No BW Referral »

Because I'm a BW Rewards customer I try to always use BW whenever I can. Came here this afternoon and no vacancy. Because I thought this was the only one in Ottawa, I didn't ask if there were any other BW in the area, as well as the desk clerk recommending another M-otel down the street and the Travelodge. Well it turns out there are three more BW locations in Ottawa that the clerk never even bothered to mention or check vacancies for - WOW! I guess they really don't care about helping customers stay at BW - they should get a job over at Travelodge or the Motel since they seem to recommend them over BW !!!

    « nice hotel »

Often stay here when in Ottawa. Reasonable rates and nice staff. Close enough to down town by bus or cab. There are some good food places close by. One around the corner is a mom and pop place - great food.

    « Air conditioning nightmare! »

I've stayed at this property several times before and although it's certainly not an upscale hotel it serves it's purpose. Good location in Ottawa's west end, ample free parking, courteous staff and clean good sized rooms. However this time they changed how the AC works. You cannot control it yourself. It's all done by computers. This means it cycled on and off all day and all night! I didn't sleep for the four days I was there. Every time it would turn on and off it made a very loud shuttering noise. It was torture! I reported it to the front desk and they tried to turn the system off (your only choices are on or off) but it didn't work. I can't believe you cannot control the temperature in you own room!

    5
« Excellent choice of location and hotel »

The BW Plus Ottawa City Centre is located on a well travelled bus route which can take you to the two major shopping malls-Bayshore and the Rideau Centre, as well as all the downtown tourist attractions. No battling traffic! The rooms are spacious and comfortable, well equipped. The restaurant serves a variety of foods which are both tasty and fair priced. The staff is both courteous and friendly. Great WiFi. Excellent service and experience.

    « Annual routine »

I stay at this hotel semi annually, dropping off and picking up my son at Carleton University. The staff are always friendly and helpful, rooms are very modern, and location is perfect. Because of the quality the Hotel, I have made this part of my son's drop off, pick up routine as I live 8hrs drive away. I recommend this location for anyone doing the same

    « Ottawa Best Western »

This was the second or third time we have stayed here. Each trip the hotel has made improvements. we enjoyed our stay here. The restaurant serves a delicious breakfast that even our picky 13 year old enjoyed. the hotel is located across the street from a mini mall. which was very convenient

« One night in Ottawa »

Nice place to sleep, conveniently located. I will use these hotel again. Was to cold to use the pool but the fitness center was fine. Love the fact that my room had no carpet, quiet location for the room. Did not check the restaurant.

    4
« Extremely unprofessional lounge staff »

Restaurant staff should understand not to joke around excessively. Someone who stays over on a weekday is probably there for business and probably needs to prepare for the next day; not there for fun. Get the food out quickly, process the payment quickly and move fast for Christ's sake. No one has time for dumb jokes and distasteful remarks. They should also learn to wait tables without having to put their nasty fingers in the food

    5
« Comfortable hotel in Ottawa »

Hotel is clean and comfortable, and with the 85 bus at the door, within 15 minutes we were in the city centre. Free car parking with breakfast on site. Shopping centre across the road for evening meals and other items. Room large with 2 lounge chairs as well as business desk.

    « Totally renovated! »

We arrived the Friday before a family wedding on the Saturday. We were greeted by really friendly front desk staff. Not always the case in many hotels. We were really impressed when we got to our room as they were like brand new! No more carpet! nice wood like floor, comfortable beds and great linen. We were contacted twice by the front end desk to ensure everything was fine. I was also impressed that when we checked in we had to sign a form saying that there would be a $250 charge to our credit card if we disturbed other guest passed 11:00 pm. I initially thought and asked if this was a party hotel and she said no but they take their guests stay very seriously. How many of us have not had our sleep disrupted by thoughtless other people. Very impressed. They had a heated outdoor pool and a cab driver always on site. Job well done. We are definitely coming back here.

    « EXCELLENT HOTEL ACCOMODATIONS »

We stayed at this hotel for one night for a business trip. The hotel is conveniently located nearer to the Ottawa west end area but also easily accessible from the downtown core via public transportation or using a vehicle. The rooms are excellent quality and very spacious. The restaurant downstairs is of a very good quality with excellent food choices, great service and very reasonable prices. There are also a couple of local pub style facilities within walking distance (i.e. 3-5 minutes) that provide excellent food and reasonable prices as well. The hotel staff are of the highest standard and provide excellent service including welcoming and farewell! It is a very quiet location yet conveniently close to the main highway (417) and local major streets (i.e. Carling Ave.)

« poor staff and management »

This nice property has big issues with management. Checked in late in the evening, had to run out for business, and then returned late, exhausted. Property was NOT sold out that evening, according to guest agent. Upon entering room, I noticed it was musty-smelling. But it was later when I was in jammies and in bed that I kept hearing a loud grinding noise that wouldn't go away, only to discover I was smack next to the elevator.. Poor sleep. When I emailed the manager about issues, she was unapologetic and even defensive, implying it was too bad I didn't request a better room. She added "many prefer being close to the elevator for convenience". I wrote back that a good practice is accommodating guests with decent rooms in the FIRST place, so they're not inconvenienced with having to report problems, going through room changes, etc. (especially when there are a lot of rooms to choose from). Management has NOT replied back as of today. On a good note: I really enjoyed the TV system, which seems ultra modern.

    « restaurant staff attitude »

this is the last time I will book with Best Western Hotels. the personnel of the restaurant were not professional at all. During my breakfast on Sunday 13th august. thinking the meal was included within my booking price, I went out the restaurant without paying. the lady in charge came after me at the reception , with a rude attitude saying to me loudly where everybody in the reception listing: <<Sir you did not pay you meal, you need to pay your meal.>> I checked my booking invoice and yes the breakfast was not included it is my mistake, however talking in a very strong way to customer and loudly... gave me a felling as a person that try to not pay his meal and in front of my 3 kids..

I like the hardwood floor very much. The big bottles of Shampoo, conditioner and body lotion dispensers are much easier to use compare with those tiny bottles given by most other hotels. The hotel is right across from the mall is very convenient. A lot of free parking is a plus for a city hotel. The swimming pool is prefect for family with children. The free internet is great and fast.

    « Won't come back »

This hotel is just a small old hotel. It's old and dark and looks dirty. Small reception area. Can't find anything good. Worse then a motel. If it under $70 per night, it's OK. Won't come back at all.

« Centrally Located and Well Kept! »

We stayed at this hotel for several days this summer. We had an ENORMOUS room!! It was clean and well kept with flooring, rather than carpet. We really liked that part! Every room has a microwave and fridge as well as a coffee maker. Some rooms offer a full kitchen. It was centrally located and parking was free. They have a swimming pool which we really enjoyed after a long day of sight seeing. Management and staff were excellent! We will stay here again for sure!

Don't fool by city centre on the name because it's not It take too long to tell my story, only thing you have to know they did change my room three times in two days for different reasons. « Nice hotel and staff - great location »

Nice hotel in a convenient location - #85 Bus takes you downtown in no time at all. Clean hotel - heated pool - plenty of parking. Marvin V. on the front desk is a very knowledgeable professional, and offered excellent customer service during our stay. The only suggestion, might be to include a morning coffee from the onsite restaurant. Coffee is good, and staff are very courteous, Will definitely return to BW Plus Ottawa City Centre.

    « Great Place! »

We stayed three nights in this great hotel in Ottawa. Our room was a one bedroom suite with a bedroom and separate living room. It was very nice and comfortable. We could see the top of the tower of the Parliament in the distance from our room. It is about a 20 minute walk to Parliament Hill or a really easy bus ride. The bus stops right on the corner in front of the hotel. We thought the location was convenient and the staff at the hotel was excellent. They all went out of their way to be helpful. We will definitely stay here again if we are in Ottawa!

« Friendly staffs, a nice hotel to stay for business or family vacation »

I stayed at this hotel for 5 times in the last 2-3 years. I always got a feeling like I am staying home or friends when I stay in this hotel. The staffs are very friendly, they go out of their way to help. I stayed in the suite that includes a full kitchen. It has a cooktop, a fridge and all amenities that I need to make daily meals. The room is nice and clean, very relaxing. I love the towels and sheets in this hotel, the bed is so comfortable, the pillows are little small but they are soft and comfy, good enough to have a good rest. Overall I love to stay in this hotel and will definately come back again!

    « Work trip »

I stayed in the BW+ Ottawa during a series of meetings in town. The hotel was nice enough. It seems a little older, but was clean. The outside heated pool was great. It would have been better if there was a hot tub and a nearby bathroom. You pretty much had to change in the room (same with going to the bathroom) before you went down. I was rather disappointed that there was no complimentary breakfast

    « Excellent Customer Service!! »

I wasn't expecting to be greeted by two very enthusiastic people. Stephanie & Marvin have to be one of the nicest and informed greeters I have ever met. They booked us in quickly and was able to give us suggestions on what to see and how to get them. They even gave us their card in case we got lost and wanted directions. We stayed two nights at the hotel and the rooms are so spacious and clean. I really wasn't expecting that. Even though is wasn't that close to downtown, we got there by bus in 15 mins. I would highly recommend staying at this location because there is a mall across the street and a lot of restaurants near by. Thank you Stephanie and Marvin for making our stay so enjoyable. Will definitely come back again because of you two!!!

« Best Western City Center Ottawa »

Great place to stay. Lots of parking. Very helpful staff. Right on a major bus route that would take me downtown or to my family. Rooms were a good size so I could have family and friends over to visit. Nice for families as it has a pool, which my grandson enjoyed.

    « Newly Renovated »

The hotel has had a makeover. Everything you'd expect from a Best Western. Friendly check-in, (though texting me 3 times in the night to see if everything was OK with my room, was a bit much. Once was a nice gesture, 3 times invasive.) Other than that, room was clean and the beds were comfortable. It had a pool and a restaurant, though I tried neither. There's restaurants across the road and some shopping as well. Just outside the city centre and close to Carlton University. It would be a good spot if you were dropping your kids off at Uni.

    « Excellent hotel »

This is an excellent hotel with great friendly staff clean well appointed rooms big convenient parking area and close to all our required amenities. Staff showed genuine interest in the purpose of our stay making the stay more personal. We are returning to the same hotel in two days to complete our business in that city.

    3
« It is NOT downtown Ottawa »

We were really disappointed with this hotel, for people that has never been to Ottawa let me tell you that this city has a city center and a downtown. We booked this hotel thinking that it was in downtown Ottawa and it is not, so be aware of that, I think is misleading to call it city center. The hotel is really old, and although they are doing some repairs, they are just quick ones, I don't think they will make a big difference. The couple of good things are that the room was spacious and clean, but again old looking. Staff was nice except for all the texts that I got without my permission, they never asked me if they could text me. I would not book that hotel again.

    4
    « Decent »

Decent. Family-friendly, nice outdoor swimming pool in the summer. Mini-mall across the street with a drugstore that has some food items. Clean, comfortable beds. Restaurant has good food, although limited menu, and good prices. Staff were meh-- a bit unprofessional (I heard one applying for a new job, out front on the phone), a few were friendly, a few were really surly. Slow service. good place to stay. I'd definitely stay here again. A bit pricey for its awkward location. Note: Outside the city centre (you need a taxi or car to get to the downtown)

    4
« Not High End but Great Staff »

Not a high end hotel, showing signs of wear but the staff was pleasant and friendly, rooms were clean, room service was prompt and decent all around I had a great stay with zero issues. I did not try the pool or fitness room.

    « Amazing experience »

The staff were extremely knowledgeable about local events, attractions and restaurants. Made our visit a real treat and we got to experience parts of the city that we never would have known about. Pool was great fun and the hotel was very clean. Thanks to the staff for making this such a memorable trip!

    « Super accommodating... »

We have a 4 month old baby and the staff here were super accommodating in ways that I would expect even a 5-star hotel would have found challenging. Great downtown location and breakfast is included in your stay.

    4
    « Great value!! »

The hotel is right opposite 24hr Shoppers Drug Mart which is great help if you are with a baby. Also close to Indian restaurant so no issues if you like to have food close to home after touring all day. Only 10 min from all major spots in downtown by car. Will recommend.

    4
« friendly professional staff - reasonable price »

not a luxury hotel yet the staff was professional, courteous and attentive; hotel met my needs and taxi easily available; close to one section of town to walk or easy taxi ride to restaurants; gym exceeded expectations

    « Love this place! »

Beautiful facility close enough to enjoy Ottawa but priced reasonably. Public transportation right out the front door! Nice restaurant downstairs and a free pool table! Beautiful outdoor heated pool and lovely area.

    4
    « What you'd expect »

The hotel was close to my meetings. Not to downtown. But a short walk to Preston which is full of restaurants. The gym is standard for a hotel, including dumbbells a weight machine and a few cardios with a TV. The menu for breakfast was good.

    « Super staff »

This is my second review. The evening staff on June 19 (around 9:30 pm) were really helpful. Unfortunately, I have misplaced their names. First the woman: There was an odor in the room and the window wouldn't open to air it out, so she moved me to the only remaining room: the suite! And I was paying the hospital rate! Next, I couldn't get the bedroom window open in the suite, and the man came up and got it open for me, which took a few minutes as it was really stuck. Both were courteous, perfectly blending friendliness and professionalism, even though they would have been justified in considering me a bit of a pain! Kudos to both. One comment: One of the reasons I usually stay at the Ottawa City Centre BW is that it has windows that open. However, recently I've noticed in some rooms that the windows have been sealed or bolted shut. Sometimes I can figure out how to get them open ... other times I have to call staff. I can't be the only one who turns off the HVAC and wants fresh air, especially in the summer. Please don't permanently shut the windows! I know there may be a security issue on the first floor, but I still want the option to have fresh air. Thanks!

« Better then the Captain Obvious Hotel next door but not great »

The rooms were very small. The meals in the restaurant were terrible. Overpriced, cold, breakfast service was awful. The server would have rather been anywhere but there. The service was slow. My towels were dirty in my room, old blue toothpaste on them. Shampoo dispenser on the wall of the shower. Decide if you want a clean body or clean hands because you are only getting 1 bar of soap......When I went to leave my room to check out at 8am the housekeeper was standing outside my room waiting so she could get in. I almost felt like I had rented the room by the hour......seriously?

    « University parents stay »

Our stay at Best Western Ottawa City Centre has always been great! They have been considerate when early check in was required. Because we were transporting or visiting our son in Carleton University they usually considered one of the lowest rates available. We have not taken advantage of the outdoor pool, but we have heard it is good. We recommend this hotel to other parents of university students

    « Excellent spot »

The biggest asset of this hotel is the staff. They are incredible which makes the stay better. Clean rooms and comfy beds but would be nice to have even a continental breakfast offered. Will return for sure

    « Scary location »

Would not go back. Location is not ideal to go for a walk. Not a safe neighbourhood Weird hotel as I stay in hotels every week. I'm only writing this post as a warning. Should have stayed closer to byward market of kanata. City centre does not me fresh new neighbourhood.. it means scary place no good restaurants nearby and the restaurant in the hotel is in the basement very very very weird set up.

Large, clean and comfortable rooms. Fitness center and heated outdoor pool. Good location, across the street from a small shopping plaza and close to highway. Free wi-fi and parking. Excellent customer service. Highly recommend.

« Most convenient place to stay in Ottawa »

For the price, this hotel was amazing. Close by the highway. I booked 5 rooms for all my relatives and friends. There is a 24 hr concierge so it is totally secure - they let you in & out anytime, a gate & door. Lots of parking available and I found my parking spot just by the room. Our room was really spacious and lovely, with a bathroom. My kids enjoyed the pool all day. A delicious tea appeared in the morning. I can't overstate how absolutely charming and helpful the staff were. Restaurant is there to buy anything you want, I had a nice breakfast -whole meal bread as well as the standard rolls & nice jams - scrambled eggs were offered and there was cake. Without a doubt I can tell that this will be the place for my next Ottawa stay :)

    3
    « Check your bill »

The staff were quick and friendly dealing with a broken air conditioner, the long black hair in the bathroom floor and lumpy bed were minor but the hidden " voluntary tax" in the Ottawa area is the most annoying thing in my stay. The hotels are working with the government to hide this tax from you. Check your bill. It's best to tell them at check in you don't want to pay this "Tourist tax, or whatever they call it.

    « Nice accomodations »

Nice accommodations. Kids had fun at the pool. Great location next to the highway - was there for a tournament so it was nice to be able to get right on the highway. Didnt eat from the restaurant, but lots of food locations nearby.

« Great Place to stay »

Great hotel all around. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was clean and comfortable and the bed was just right! I have stayed in this hotel a couple times now and we always get great service!! Thank you

    « Great Girls Weekend »

Older hotel but rooms were updated and spacious, love having flooring (no carpet) in rooms. Easy to get around from that hotel. the outdoor pool was on and heated, nice and warm for a quick swim. The building is quite old so hallways are small and so are elevators. Never went downstairs to restaurant so can't comment on that.

Very good 1 day business visit stay at this hotel. Fast check in and check out, and staff's hospitality, very convenient location. Spotless room. Good size as well. Would definitely come back here again in the future.

« So glad we picked this hotel »

My wife and I were in Ottawa early May for our son's funeral. We stayed 5 nights at the BW 1274 Carling Ave. This hotel is clean-we loved the 'wood' floor in our room; a great idea- easily cleaned and sanitary. I called the desk one night because the thermostat was flashing 'low Batt'- it was serviced within 10 minutes. The beds were comfy and the room amenities were appreciated. The meals in CAFE 1274 were excellent. The kindness and compassion shown us by the management and staff (one lovely lady in particular) are appreciated and will always be remembered. This is a 5 star hotel.

    « No noodle »

Would have been nice to know pool was not working, like Best Western hotels but was looking for a pool. Just should not advertise pool if it was not open for the season yet. Staff was good just a heads up not close tourist stuff.

    « Excellent overnight »

We stayed only one night, but the front desk staff made the experience easy and carefree, and gave us a feeling they were glad to see us. Room amenities were as expected, including a small refrigerator and microwave, along with the standard coffee maker. Bathroom is large and well lit. The furniture was relatively new and comfortable.

« Needs some work and very poor value for the price »

Although the room has been modernized the rooms with new flooring and bedding, most everything else is in need of an upgrade and more attention to detail on the cleaning. Noisy AC unit, lingering stale smell with hint of old smoke, didn't help. There is an odd, windowless restaurant in the basement that feels like a bunker. Staff were very help and doing their best to make a marginal hotel welcoming. As for City Centre: I'm not sure what the definition of city centre is, but we were about 10 km from Ottawa City Centre. As for the price, $50 more per night than the very nice hotel I stayed in my third night right downtown. Needs work.

    « Hotel »

I booked two rooms at this hotel with breakfast included. Next morning we went to have breakfast and I noticed that they have menus with prices. I asked the waitress and she said you have to pay. When I let her know that I paid for breakfast included, she said you need a coupon from the desk. So I went upstairs and she gave me two coupons with a tiny note $10 at the corner wich I didn't notice right away. Again at the restorant and again surprise. The coupons I got were per each room. I go again upstairs I had to ask for two more coupons. They were "surprised " that we have two rooms = 4 people. So I got two more coupons. After breakfast I was asked to pay for the difference over $40. What I learned after, was that the restaurant was not part of the hotel. Second thing: The difference in price between room with breakfast and without is $50. So I paid $100 but I was entitled for only $40 to use. When I asked at the desk the reason the gave me : "You booked through a third party!" Not nice at all. First of all I had to ask for the coupons not once but twice. And second thing, when you pay for breakfast you just eat and go. I have never seen such a thing before. This is the same as offering to your customers to eat at the restaurant across the street and make them pay whatever you think in front regardless what the real cost is and without telling him. Disappointed!

    « Not Great »

Stayed for 1 night, and did not have a good night sleep :( Had a room where the air conditioning was not working, advised front desk, someone came up did the same thing we did with the thermostat and said it would go on in two minutes. It didn't. We called down to front desk and told them it still wasn't working, nobody came up. We had to keep the window open and of course that just cooled the room off but had lots of outside noise. The hotel was not full so we don't understand why they didn't change our room. The girl at the front desk in the morning was apologetic and said she would give us extra points, nice gesture but doesn't help the poor sleep. Also, they have upgraded a bit by putting in new flooring, and new headboards but not new bed linen. Sheets had holes in them and the curtains also had a hole from a cigarette burn.

    « EXCELLENT NIGHT'S STAY »

Needed a hotel in this area of Ottawa as I had meetings close by the next day. All amenities of this hotel exceeded my expectations and I would easily stay here again if I needed a hotel in this area. From friendly staff to an excellent breakfast available (minor cost), you should 100% consider staying here if you need an excellent hotel to stay in.

« Clean, comfortable bed, fridge »

« Amazing Two Night Stay!! »

I will be moving to Ottawa soon for work and stayed at the Best Western Plus for two nights while looking for a condo to rent. The room was spotless upon arrival and the beds were SUPER comfortable. The staff at the hotel were VERY helpful and friendly. They went above and beyond to make sure that we had a great stay and also helped me out by recommending good places to find a rental. I don't think I've ever been to a hotel that had staff that were this helpful!!! Furthermore, the hotel is minutes away from nice restaurants in Ottawa, close to downtown, and had easy parking. Breakfast at the hotel was reasonably priced and very delicious! I would HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone that needs a place to stay in Ottawa!

« Worth It and Recommended! »

If you're in Ottawa and looking for a reasonably-priced place to stay, be sure to check this one out because this place really gives you the best bang for the buck. It's conveniently located in the center of the city so you don't need to worry about walking around the city. The room is okay and gives you all of the basic amenities you can expect from a BW Plus hotel. Lastly, I also have nothing to complain for regarding the service.

« Knowledgeable staff and empty apologies. »

First the good parts... the room was fairly clean and I like the rooms without carpet. I had an excellent sleep. The fitness centre has more than just cardio, it also has a chest press and a couple of other machines and freeweights. The restaurant/bar has good food, hockey on the tvs, and a nice 8ft open pool table. Marvin at the front desk was new and in training (as was noted on his name tag) but he was very friendly and you could tell he was giving everything he had and that was plenty for a pleasant check-in. Now, the bad parts... I purchased a room from Expedia that was supposed to include a buffet breakfast. I asked about it at check-in and was told that there isn't a buffet I just order what I want. I asked if I could still have as much as I want as in ordering a few different things from the menu and they said yes and that breakfast is only $9 anyways (? what?). When I went to the restaurant for breakfast I was told I am allowed to order one drink and one entree and nothing more. I am OK with that because the food was good and filling. I had steak and eggs with toast and hash-browns. Very delicious and good service. But the steak and eggs along with all other items on the menu had their own prices and they were mostly $10-$15 for each entree so I am not sure where the $9 that was mentioned at the front desk came from. I decided to go to the front desk after to question the breakfast information I had received and Stephanie was at the front desk and clarified for me. She told me right away it was one entree and drink per person and that they are new to offering breakfast and Expedia charges what they want and the hotel has no way of knowing how much Expedia charged us for breakfast. She said Expedia says buffet breakfast but that is wrong. After blaming Expedia she went on to say that Marvin was new so that is why he didnt provide the correct information and the other guy that was there (?Damien or something, never talked to him) should have known better. I was given an apology, nothing more. The next day the shower wouldn't drain very well so I stood in a pool of filth in the tub and to top it off the shampoo/soap dispenser ran out while I was having a shower so I did not get as clean as I like. I went to the front desk at check out to let Stephanie know about my morning experiences thinking she would be more sympathetic to my problems because of the breakfast confusion earlier but she said sorry and that if I would have called her she would have given me more soap to which I replied "no offence but I wasn't going to get out of the shower and make a phone call to the front desk and wait for you to bring more soap" and she understood that. Not once did I ask for a discount off my bill, I just wanted it to be offered. You would think that with an unhappy guest (for good reason) who was being so calm would be important enough to throw a few dollars at to avoid a bad review and keep the guest coming back. It wasn't the no soap or lack of draining or breakfast confusion that is stopping me from coming back, it is the sound of a broken record "sorry" with no real feeling of being sorry and how quick Stephanie was to blame everyone and point fingers. She threw her coworkers under a bus. Lack of team work and very disappointing. I will not be back to this hotel and if the manager actually cares he could credit my credit card for my troubles. Anything else is just another empty apology.

    « 10/10 Would Stay Here Again »

We didn't interact with the same staff twice during our stay, and every one of them was helpful and pleasant. We didn't really have anything go seriously wrong so we don't have a frame of reference for their ability to put out fires, but I have no reason to believe they wouldn't be professional in those situations either. The beds were firm but comfortable, and the room service was discrete and efficient. The water pressure was a tad lacking in the shower, but that was the only (very small) thing I can complain about. The continental breakfast included with the room was the best free breakfast I've had, with a good selection of breakfast foods and juices, and coffee if that's your thing.

« Great Hotel in Great Location »

We stayed as a couple at this hotel for 3 nights over a weekend. Hotel was great, rooms were spacious and clean. I especially liked the new flooring, nice to not have carpet! There was no issues with noise and the TV's were great! Restaurant in the hotel has great breakfast for a reasonable price. Good location, perfectly situated for getting to downtown Ottawa or the surrounding area in good time. Would definitely stay here again.

This is a good hotel for trades men not really suitable for business / sales folks. Room have no carpeting which is odd and lends to a cool room. Felt like I should keep my shoes on. Electric baseboards didn't help. Shower tiles need replacing. Overall room needs updating.

Apparently recently renovated. Rooms were clean but nothing to write home about. No carpet. Walls were paper thin. I could hear the other guest breathing at night for Pete's sake! My room was also freezing- took several hours to warm up. I chose this hotel as the location suited my needs but would not stay here again. Staff were friendly and apologetic when I gave them polite feedback about the paper thin walls -offered me best western points for the inconvenience.

    « Ottawa Stay Over »

After a long 10 day vacation we had to drive to ottawa to see family. Having to stay one night we choose the Best Western Plus. The price was good at $136 for the night for a suite in our Nations Capital. The suite was large but cold feeling. Again this suite had a private area for the queen bed, a living room area and private bath. The sad part it was all tile or hardwood with no carpet- it echoed liked a bowling alley.

    5
« Great room and excellent breakfast »

We were at the Best Western for just one night as we were attending a concert at the National Arts Centre. Check in was easy, room as spotless and comfortable. Although we were unable to take advantage of the mini kitchen (frig, microwave, dishes, sink and coffee maker) due to our short stay, it was something that made me think it would be a great place to stay if we visit Ottawa for a longer period. The continental breakfast was very good with lots of choice. The only negative were the hard as rocks waffles. The underground parking is a bit tricky to access as the entrance is almost right on the street and you have to cross a two-way bicycle lane - not too much of a problem on teh weekend, but could be problematic on a busy work day.

    5
    « NOT Average »

I am a bit confused by the 'average' comments by other reviewers. Although the building may be dated in appearance, they maintain it very well. The staff are amazing, especially Shelley at the front desk, she was extremely nice and went out of her way to help us. The maintenance staff and cleaning staff were all very friendly. And the rooms were exceptionally clean. Also, someone commented that the hotel is in a city suburb, which I disagree with. It's 10 minutes from Westboro and Wellington west, which is a very busy area with tons of restaurants and cool shops. I guess the other reviewer didn't find it close enough to Byward Market and other downtown touristy areas. Westboro is where the locals go to eat, so check it out! And if you're there on a Saturday check out the Parkdale Market in Wellington West. Also, quick, easy access to Gatineau. Seriously, just ask the front desk staff where to go.. very quick to get anywhere, and use transit if you're going to indulge in the local brews! I was in the city for business, wish I had more time to tour around! And sure you could stay downtown, but then you're likely going to have to pay for parking if you have a vehicle. Free parking here!!

« Easy to get and ideal location for us »

We were here to visit friends and family and the hotel was centrally located for us. The rooms were clean the staff was friendly knowledge and helpful. What more did we need knowing we would basically only be there to shower and sleep

    3
    « Average place »

A bit misleading as located in city centre, this hotel is almost in the city suburb, an area not very interesting. The hotel is quite large, clean with wooden floor. HVAC is obsolete as there are 2 electric baseboards for heating and an air conditioner in a cavity for cooling. Luckily they are interlocked by an electronic thermostat. Staff are efficient for check in and out. The room rate is overpriced unless you have some activities nearby.

    5
« A regular to this location, always great !! »

Great location, Great Staff and Very Clean and comfortable. Stay here several times a year and never been disappointed. Restaurant on site serves good food. Special mention to front desk staff especially Shelley. Keep up the good work.

« Very average place to stay »

A very average hotel, dated in appearance. The best reason for staying there is if it convenient. The lobby is very dated, rooms are large, but sound insulation between rooms is poor so you can hear what is going on in neighbouring rooms and can clearly hear the TV when it is running. The room was well cleaned and the bedding was acceptable, though a comforter would have been good. The restaurant food was quite good and a good value. I chose this hotel because it was available on short notice and close to the place of business

    4
« My Home away from Home »

The location is perfect for me so I always stay here. The internet connection has been a problem on last two visits. Although I slept OK I did find the bed too soft - I like a firm mattress. But overall - I Do like the place and would stay again.

« Great Staff, Nice Rooms, Reasonable Rates! »

This is my second weekend at this hotel on business travel, and I have been impressed with the recently refurbished rooms I have stayed in both times. Staff are very kind and accommodating. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Rates are very reasonable for Ottawa area, and its centrally located. I would recommend for business or leisure. Only drawback is the open wireless network, but if you care about network security, you probably have the right stuff to take care of that. I am typing this review from the desk in my North Tower room. It is spacious, and has microwave and fridge great for bottled water and a few provisions. 2 minute walk across the street to shop at the 24hour Shoppers (Drug store with some fresh and frozen food).

    4
    « Better than expected »

Stayed in a two queen bed with pull out sofa room with my 5 person family. The room was quite spacious. The location is great, there is a shipping plaza right across the street and a bus stop right in front that gets you downtown in about 20 minutes. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. The only Negative was the on site restaurant. They are severely understaffed. We went for breakfast, waited over 20 minutes and didn't even get our drink orders in. We ended up having to leave without even ordering.

    4
    « Good Spot »

Nice room, good service and overall a comfortable place to stay in Ottawa and near highway. Breakfast was good also but did not try any other meal and did not use bar. What else is there to say about a hotel ?

    « What a nice surprise! »

Hotel is almost perfect. Check in and check out in a snap. The rooms are very clean, spacious. No rugs, and TV is perfect (100% HD, large TV's). Hotel is not so perfectly located if you were thinking of walking to venues and activities. The only negative side was that cleaning lady knocked on our door and woke us up to clean room at 10am and checkout is only at noon. Other than that, I would recommend to anyone.

    « Super Fast Internet! »

Since my last stay, they have upgraded their WiFi and I must say, what a huge difference it makes for the business traveler and families with multiple devices. I traveled with my family and had 5 devises going in our room and the speed was 38 download, 33 upload, CRAZY!!!. I am glad that they made the decision to upgrade their WiFi!! As always extremely friendly staff and always clean rooms. Cannot ask for more! PS: The new signs look great!!

Little bit outside of centre, but with the bus easy to travel. Car's are easy to park down town.

This was my second time in this hotel. Just like the first time, the staff is extremely friendly. Located in a very quite neighborhood and getting in and out of the hotel was very convenient. « Couldn't Give it a Chance »

I will start by saying that our visit to this hotel was free and I still couldn't stay. On line the pictures looked fine. Reception was slow and even though we had a personal gift certificate from BW the desk made it very difficult to check in. Then they booked us into the wrong room that we had requested and been promised. The lobby, elevators and the corridors were filthy. I'm in the business and I was with my wife and I was embarrassed. The rooms have had laminate floors installed throughout. I'm still not a fan of this concept even though I understand what they are attempting to do. The industry has tested these floors and it has been proven that they are harder on staff to maintain, take longer and produce lower guest scores. Yet they continue to put them in. The bathroom was dated and in much need of repair with chipped paint, damaged shower, and very old fixtures. We spent all of 30 minutes in the room while I found us another hotel.

    4
« Clean, friendly and efficient »

This hotel met our expectations and we had a peaceful and comfortable stay. The rooms are clean, the beds comfortable and facilities good. Breakfast was in the basement dining area and had the ambience you'd expect. Waitress was friendly and efficient and food good. Receptionist always seemed to be advising tourists on the best events and how to get there. Very helpful. There isn't an x factor to raise the rating. The only things to mark it down are very slow lifts and heavy front doors at reception. I wish hotels would all invest in sliding doors.

    4
« Free upgrade to a suite made for an enjoyable stay »

The hotel was fully booked so we enjoyed a free upgrade to the bridal suite. The hotel is a bit dated but still in good condition; the suite was very tastefully decorated. Also, the entire hotel appears to have undergone an entire retrofit to LED lighting. The restaurant is an absolute MUST for breakfast the next morning! Very well-balanced portions and tasty food.

« Good price, nice room, nothing special though »

We stayed one night while on the road and it was a decent hotel. The room was clean and modern and the bed very comfortable. Free parking in front of hotel. The staff was friendly, especially Shelley. A restaurant in the hotel as well as a few right near by. Booked on trip advisor and got decent price.

    « Good Value »

We stayed over one night to visit family. Hotel is comfortable but outdated. The day was over 30 degrees so the outdoor pool was appreciated. Close access to highways and a microwave in the room were also advantages -- when our kids were younger, if we did get a microwave there was an additional cost. The best thing about our stay was the front desk attendants selling us on the Parliament Hill slide show -- we had read about this but weren't really considering it until the staff shared some of the feedback from other guests. The weather was amazing and the kids couldn't have enjoyed it more so thank you. Overall, a decent place to stay.

« Not for business travellers. »

Clean and well maintained hotel. No internet wifi in certain rooms. Couldn't connect to the wifi to write this review had to use cellar data plan. If you can live without Internet than this is your hotel. Some street noise but otherwise a quiet hotel. the hotel and linen have been recently updated. Thermostat in room was preset.

    « A lovely place to stay »

The staff was very friendly and the rooms were clean and fairly comfortable. Updated pillows would have been nice as ours were pretty lumpy. Also the hotel needs to update all their air conditioners. It was so loud when running (and would start up with and shut down with a bang) that we could hardly sleep. We had to unplug it. But then it was too hot and we could hear all the hall way/other rooms. Otherwise a nice place to stay.

The hotel (had to look really hard to realize it had been renovated) itself has; * a Pool, gym, work center (with printer) and free parking. * in-house restaurant (there is no free breakfast, however, the restaurant should not to be overlooked. The grub is good and not expensive) * Simulated wood flooring in the room instead of carpeting * a bed to die for - better than one at home! * the usual fridge, coffee machine, etc Of note, and a mark of good management in my eyes . . . the cleaning/house keeping staff are very happy. Chatting amongst themselves, laughing, smiles on faces, beaming, as they go about their chores. It was uplifting to hear them. Mention must be made of location * Just outside of city core * Bus stop outside main door * Corner of two main streets Carling and Merrivale with easy access to both * Easy access to/from main freeway * There is a Mall across street with; - Treats coffee chain - Rocking Johnny's Diner - Shoppers drug mart (food, snacks, groceries, post office) - Various small retail shops It all added up to a nice stay - where we'll stay when/if back in town

    « Deceitful »

I wanted a hotel in the centre of Ottawa so that I could be near the University of Ottawa. When I saw the description of this hotel which said city centre, I thought I was going to be where I wanted; no such case. This hotel is a great distance away from the city centre and is close to what was a neighbouring town before amalgamation. The term city centre is used to deceive you. And the litany of problems continued; dirty room, carpet laying equipment left all over the place, no access to the elevator, no cot even though it had been requested, significant off gassing, fridge not working etc. I complained to corporate Best Western but they simply didn't care and tried to buy me off with a $50.00 credit. I tried to raise my concerns to a higher level but was consistently blocked by respondents whose only vocabulary was comprised of " I am sorry for your inconvenience" Should you stay at this hotel; absolutely but only if you car breaks down and you have no momentum to get to another property. We have stayed at Best Western Plus properties in the past and have been quite satisfied which in part accounted for our choice this time, but this one is definitely a pass. This hotel appears to under new management and perhaps someday they will live up to the Best Western standard - but not now!

    « Almost a 5 in my book. »

Really nice outdoor pool. Room is spacious and clean. Only thing that would make it better would be a breakfast bar. The staff was polite and accommodating and the area is close enough that you can walk most places........................

    « Great value Hotel »

convenience location, a few nice restaurants across the street.Very Friendly staffs, quiet setting, nice and clean. I was on business trip, a week staying there, feel like home. Will recommend it to my family and friends.

« Great location, friendly staff »

Always greeted with a smile everything I visit. I stay here at least a half dozen times a year or so on business and it never disappoints. The rooms are clean and modern, and the breakfast that comes with the room rate is always hot and fresh. Recent ownership changes have not diminished the property at all, although it is coming up on time for a refresh. Tip... ask for a room that does not face Carling Avenue... you can hear the traffic at all hours.

    « Needs Updating »

Stayed at this hotel just one night with my son so we could visit universities. Hotel old and needs updating. Lobby very shabby. The front desk staff were friendly but slow to check in. I felt this hotel was very overpriced. Yes rooms were clean but that should be an automatic assumption these days not a reviewable subject.

    4
    « Comfortable and Clean »

This hotel is comfortable and clean. The staff are courteous and professional. The location is quite convenient to the Queensway giving it easy access to most of the Ottawa area. Basic shopping is located nearby for those travelling necessities. I didn't have much experience of the amenities, but things like a pool and breakfast/room service seem to be available which is always nice. The bathroom was large, clean and private. Finally, I got a king room and it was absolutely cavernous! Like there was a whole dance floor between the bed and the TV! I'm not sure what that space gets used for usually, anyway, it was a nice change from some of the tiny closets I've stayed in in the past. Also, free parking and wifi were a deciding factor in choosing this place; I hate getting nailed with hidden extra fees!

    « So so »

Stayed here for 2 nights with my family. The rooms are nice and it looks like they were recently renovated. The bathroom has no fan and the toilet and the shower seem to be outdated or left from the "old hotel", does it make sense? No but... The service is horrible. We went for breakfast bar that had a sign "Please wait to be seated" we waited for 10 min nobody showed up so we ended up at a local bagel place for breakfast. One of the staff gave me attitude when I asked what was wrong with the printer in the lobby that was not connected. The tray from the room across was sitting in the hallway for over 20 hours... When we got back the family could not get into their room because the keys were not programmed property. No apologies... All in all needs some customer service improvement but it is a decent place to stay over.

    « Ok hotel »

We stayed for one night. 3 adults and 3 kids in two rooms. The staff was friendly. I just missed many of the perks that other hotels offer (ex. Little shampoo bottles) I was also surprised to see that there was not a continental breakfast. We will probably stay closer to the downtown core the next time we go to Ottawa.

« Comfortable, clean rooms, friendly staff »

Stayed 4 nights for our daughters soccer tournament. Easy to get back & forth to fields. Is in an older part of town but if you have a vehicle getting around isn't an issue. We didn't use the pool but it was an adequate size to cool off in & nice to have an outdoor pool for a change. We didn't eat at the hotel but friends did & said the breakfast is excellent. Would stay here again.

    4
« Fine hotel, near downtown »

This was a fine hotel, though I felt it was expensive for what it is. We had a business king room which was a nice size. Bed was very soft. Personnel were helpful and efficient. A/C was good but loud. Kids using heated pool reported that it was cold. Location was 10 minutes from Parliament and within walking distance of synagogues.

« Great spot in Ottawa »

Everything about this hotel works. good service. Good restaurant for breakfast. easy parking. Quiet stay near major roads with easy access to all of Ottawa. Unable to find anything wrong with this hotel.

    « 3 Night Stay near Dow's Lake »

I selected this BW hotel because it was close to Dow's Lake where I was participating in an event. It was a 25 minute walk to Dow's Lake and was really convenient. The hotel appeared to have been recently renovated/upgraded and was quite clean. The staff were friendly. My room (2xdouble beds) was clean, a good size, and had a small microwave & bar fridge. The Internet service was good.

    4
« God solid budget hotel in Ottawa's west end »

Friendly staff- and convenient late night check-in - hotel was just what we need for a budget stay. We were only in for a night - however there was no delay at check-in or check-out which was great. Location in Ottawa's west end was convenient - close to highway and shopping.

    « Location is good »

This hotel happened to be close to the church and the reception for a wedding we attended. The room was quite nice with a comfortable bed. The staff were attentive to the other guests, yet seemed distracted. It served our purpose for a quick visit. It seems the rooms have been updated but the smell in the hallways in the morning was unpleasant

    3
« Very Close to the Ottawa Heart Institute »

When My Dad Was having Surgery we Stayed here based on Location ... The Room was nice clean cool AC ... The only thing that was bad is the vending machine on my floor never had any drinks in it .... ( 2nd Floor) I had Breakfast there a few time Food was very good Also the Black guy with the Shaved head & always seems to be wearing the same Gray suit who works at the Front Desk answering the phone is Very Rude and ignorant he also talks like he has a Sock in his mouth but the Highlight of the stay was dealing with Stefanie the sales Manager she was very pleasant and so helpful I was there During a Busy time in Ottawa it was Canada day and she went out of her way to find us a room she has Excellent customer service skills

    4
    « Perfectly pleasant »

We were 2 friends meeting up to visit old school friends in Ottawa. The hotel was clean, staff was friendly & we didn't have any issues or difficulties. We had a quick swim in the well kept pool,& ate breakfast in the hotel restaurant both mornings. The breakfast was quite good & very reasonably priced.

    3
« Some good, some quite bad »

Good location. Easy off/on freeway access. Coffee shop across the street. Fair price. Large room, very large TV. Fun outdoor pool. However: room smelled, to me like a cigarette-smoke killing chemical. This was not addressed. Beer from the hotel bar was wonderful after our late arrival... but then the bar closed for Canada Day, when the hotel was full of guests. Room was definitely cleaned, but still appeared not super fresh --- fake hardwood flood and no carpet could be to blame. In-room fridge has seen better days.

    4
    « Central Location »

Found hotel very convenient as I had to use a bus along Carling Avenue every day. Friendly & efficient staff, both with check in & out. Clean, good size room with 2 double beds. Microwave in room an added bonus. The pool area was nice & well kept. The restaurant look interesting but I did not use. Hotel opposite a small mall with Shoppers Drug Mart open 24 hours, wine store & a couple of restaurants.

    « Terrible Stay »

Just got back today from the BW Macies and it has by far been one of the worst places I've stayed..(this was a school trip by the way). In our room, there was a huge bug in the bathroom, there was no ventilation in the washroom, and the shower in the tiny washroom just didn't work at all. It sprayed right down on a 90 degree angle. I had to stand right under the shower head!!! In another room, they found hair on towels that weren't theirs and a toenail in the bed as well as stains on the towels and bedsheets. The a/c didn't work in many rooms so many friends of mine slept in absolute heat on top of the already 30 degree weather outside. Privacy was also minimal. In all, it was a terrible experience.

    3
« The room is very nice »

The room was very nice and the bed was very comfortable. Everything worked perfectly from the wi-fi to the shower to the TV. The staff seemed a little disinterested, yet helped when you could catch their attention. The only downfalls are the lack of fresh air and the smell in the hallways in the morning.

    2
    « Quite a disappointment!!! »

When my husband and I checked in and went to our room, I checked the refrigerator (since I travel with soft drinks and bottles of water). The refrigerator was cool but not cold. I went and informed the desk. They sent someone to adjust the controls on the back of the refrigerator. The room was nice and clean. Near the Air Conditioner, it had two wing chairs and a table. However, the Air Conditioner was so loud that if you sat on those chairs, you could not hear the dialogue on the TV. We moved our chairs closer to the TV and could make out most of the dialogue but not all. Since there was a cap on the volume control, we called the front desk to ask them to adjust it. They refused to do so but sent someone to turn down the AC fan speed. This did little to help with this problem. The room had a DOUBLE BED!!!! I thought all hotels had Queen beds but, at this hotel, it was a Double Bed. My feet hung over the edge. Upon check-in on Saturday at 5:00 p.m., for our one-night stay, I asked what time their restaurant opened for breakfast (breakfast is not included). I was told 7:00 a.m. Sunday morning at 7:00 a.m., we went down for breakfast. We were told that the restaurant did not open until 8:00 a.m. I explained that when I had checked in at 5:00 p.m. the day before, I was told 7:00 a.m. They told me that on Saturdays the restaurant opened at 7:00. Although this hotel is called "City Centre", it is not in the centre of Ottawa.

« "Great location, wonderful staff and excellent food" »

Great location very close to The Ottawa Civic Hospital where my sister had a brain surgery. People at the hotel were very nice and the food at the restaurant was excellent. They have a good taxi services at this location and it makes a difference when you have someone not feeling well.

« Wonderful staff, no surprises »

The front desk staff was superb. Easy check-in, and within 10 minutes received an in-room call from the desk asking if everything was ok. How often does that happen? The room itself was clean but small, barely holding one queen bed. But, we used Priceline, got a great deal so expected to get a lesser room. Dining room for breakfast was fairly priced and the food excellent although on this day it was understaffed. We would go back, especially at the Priceline Name Your Own Price rate.

    « Gross bathroom »

When I arrived I got the feeling I was in the wrong place. A best western plus.. I was expecting a bit more upscale than what I saw. The parking lot was disorganized and dirty. The hallways and lobby needed a good cleaning. I asked to see the room before checking in. The brief review showed no issues but upon actually getting into the room it was less than great. There was a lot of long, dark black hair on the bathroom floor and the toilet itself. (I have short, blonde hair) It looked as if the floor had not been cleaned at all. I swiped the floor with a damp towel and it came up black. I asked for a different room. Upon getting to that room, same long black hair on the toilet seat. Debris on the bathroom floor and so much dirt in the closet track I could barely open it. I called to complain and say I was checking out. The front desk told me very rudely that it was best if I left because clearly they couldn't provide a room to my standards. The clerk was exceptionally rude. When I returned my keys he insisted that the first room was fine. I didn't raise my voice because another customer was at the desk. But the clerk insisted that there was nothing wrong with the room. And that I was just unreasonable and should just leave. I felt as if I was being expelled from the premises. The clerk made me feel that it was my fault that I was unhappy not that the room was the reason. If I could have given a negative number I would have. Filthy rooms have no place in the hotel industry.

« Great location in west Ottawa »

In close proximity to the Ottawa Civic Hospital, which was a consideration in our choice of locations The woman at the front desk was vary helpful and professional. As there is an independent restaurant located in the basement, breakfast is not included in the room price, but it is good and very affordable. Located on Carling Ave, other amenities are readily available including a mall across the street.

« My stay at a Best Western »

I was very impressed with the staff a reception. They were very helpful showing me how to use the Ottawa bus system which I needed to visit several places across the city. What really impressed me was on my departure. As it was a 30dollar taxi ride from the airport, I decided to travel by bus so I set off although the weather was not very clement, rainy and windy. THe person who I assumed was the hotel manager, caught up to me and said he would give me a ride to the airport. I accepted so off we went in his personal car. We had a pleasant conversation on the way and when he dropped me offf I had a very positive feeling which gave me a good start for my long journey home. Richard Acton

« Quite and peaceful location! »

Stayed in a hotel in Ottawa after 9 years. Friendly staff and they go out of their way to help you with directions, maps and other information. Very clean room with a strong WiFi connection. We enjoyed the peaceful night. What more could you ask? I would definitely go back!

    « Rooms Not Ready »

Tried to check in at 5:00pm - told no rooms ready and would need to return at 6:30pm and they hoped something ready at that time. I was told I could change for my meeting in washroom on lower level. When finally got in room at 8:00pm - no shampoo and questionable cleanliness

    « A reliable comfortable convenient hotel »

We have stayed at Macies Best Western on every visit during the past 9 years. Recent improvements have enhanced the experience. Front desk staff know us and are welcoming. The air conditioner/heater are noisy. The restaurant has a good breakfast although service can be slow even when not busy.

« Welcome Changes at the BestWestern Plus Ottawa City Centre!! »

Since my last visit, there has been major renovations happening at this hotel. It is great to see that they really want to stay up to date and be competitive with some of the newer hotels in the area. Brand new Hall way carpets, Great hardwood flooring really makes you feel at home (not to take away from the great staff who always go above and beyond to make you feel at home) , great fitness facility with top of the line equipment and a great restaurant with great and reasonably priced menu with a pool table and lounge area (guess what, you don't have to pay money to play, its free!!!). I hear more upgrades are on the way and cant wait to see them. Being a regular at this property, it is certainly a welcome change!

« Excellent hotel and wonderful staff »

This is a quiet, clean hotel which has been newly renovated. Our room had new wood floors and was very clean and welcoming. The staff is very pleasant and accomadating. It is a bit of a drive to the city centre...a few miles.

    « Best Western Ottawa »

Had to take care of some business plus enjoy the Tulip festival. Arrived early and they found a room for me before regular check in time. People were down to earth and friendly. The little cafe / lounge downstairs is nice and comfortable - Friendly and homey. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Overall a great weekend.

« Best Western Hotel Ottawa, formerly "Marcie" »

This Best Western Hotel, Formerly the "Marcie" has gone down a lot in quality since we stayed there 3 years ago. It did not live up to the quality of our previous few stays. Also, there is no breakfast included in the price. Catch up with the times, Best Western!

    3
    « not what we expected. so-so »

The bad: "City Center" name mislead us into thinking this was closer to downtown (it's 3 miles away). Facility appeared somewhat dingy in lobby. Toilet was weirdly small (teeny toilet seat). Internet kept pausing/resetting. The good: There was a strip-type mall across the street with a dollar store and grocery store as well as some eating places. We like to walk or take city busses and there were several nearby bus routes. microwave and minifridge both got lots of use. staff were friendly.

    4
    « Great family weekend »

We had a great family weekend away in Ottawa visiting other family members. This property offered all that we needed and was close to family. There was a restaurant onsite and shopping across the street. Some of us used the gym and we all ate in the restaurant. Rooms were comfortable and newly renovated.

    « Friendly Staff »

I stayed one night while passing through the area on business. They are in the process of renovating, although the impact was minimal. Front desk staff member from West Coast was very friendly, and happy to answer any questions I had. Room was renovated and clean, very spacious. I had breakfast downstairs (not included), and was a good basic way to start the day, and the server was very friendly despite being incredibly busy. There is a great little family run Salvadoran restaurant called La Cabana behind this hotel that I really enjoyed for supper. This place is very casual. It is...well, quite frankly, run down...very run down. But the food was excellent, and I'd dine there again. About two minutes up the road, is a plaza with restaurants and a Food Basics. Hotel offered plenty of free parking, and the internet was excellent.

    2
    « Bof... »

This is an old building, they are doing their best to hide it by changing carpet and some paint. No inside pool, no hot thub, and strangely the restaurant is in the basement, so no window... Only 1 tiny elevator, so it's quicker to use the stairs... To me, it is a deception.

    3
« Watch your feet in the bathroom »

The base of the bathroom vanity extends well beyond the top, and is covered with metal. In the middle of the night, with only the nightlight on, it is in the direct pathway to the toilet, and your left foot is in danger of contacting with the base with some force.

    4
« Clean and comfortable, employees were great »

Had another comfortable stay for business. The staff was very helpful on a couple of special requests and the room was clean and comfortable. I have stayed here before and will stay here again. Close to all the amenities

« Good Basic Hotel - Friendly Service »

Good location, just outside of downtown. The staff at the bar and in the dining area provided excellent service. Traffic seems more manageable at this location. Shoppers and a grocery store is right across the street and there is a great restaurant - Bowmans just down the road within walking distance.

« Good Value for Money »

I visited this hotel about a year ago and disappointed in it. Its manager send me a personal letter to apologize and guarantee that I will be satisfied with my next visit. « Very convenient, great staff, good value »

Conveniently located, close to amenities and easy to travel. Free parking. Professional and very friendly staff. Very clean and nicely decorated rooms. « March break trip to Ottawa »

Lacks curb appeal. At first sight I kind of had seconds thought about staying. Once inside the hotel was clean and staff were pleasant. The building appears to have been recently redone. Our room was spacious and clean, expect for the used face cloth hanging over the shower rod. We were a little bit taken aback by the rate we paid. We have stayed at other hotels in Ontario with more amenities and paid far less. The hotel has a pool but it was closed for the winter.

    4
« Good hotel, great staff; looking forward to my next stay once the renovations are completed! »

Stayed one night as one of my sons had a procedure done at a hospital nearby. It is a good little hotel with competitive prices, well located, very clean and decent sized, well furnished rooms. A lot of effort is being made to have a well decorated hotel. Artwork from local artists are displayed, which is a very nice touch. I love it when the hotels support the local economy! It is being renovated and I am looking forward to staying there once completed. The staff is amazingly professional yet polite and very friendly. Made us feel at home immediately. The only issues that needs solving to make this an unavoidable hotel to stay is the WIFI internet - intermittent at best. In today's world, WIFI is a deciding factor to choose a hotel! Once thisd is done, this hotel will be on top of my list for stays in Ottawa

    « ottawa stay »

very good value, and a very convenient location for the purposes of our stay. We came to visit Carleton university and take in a Senators game. This hotel location makes navigating the city very straightforward, with lots of amenities nearby.

« Made You Feel At Home »

Stayed here as I had stayed years ago and it is very close to where our family needed to be. We had made a couple of special request when making the reservation. The staff went out of their way to make sure these request happened for us. While spending long hours visiting a family member at the hospital just up the street it was nice to come back and just put your feet up. Food in the restaurant was good. Will be back again.

« Ottawa Visit for Brier »

Reasonably priced hotel which location is fairly convenient to TD Place as well as downtown Parliament Hill area, The hotel services were as shown but take note that breakfast is not included here as it is at least in my experience, in most BW's with a Best Western Plus rating. We found all services provided to be average or above average and would certainly consider this hotel for future visits to Ottawa.

    4
« Close to Ottawa Civic Hospital »

Very nice hotel, clean room, sparkling clean bathroom and linens. Convenient to two eating places across the street. Very quiet. Safe and free parking. Check-in was not the very best, but the check-out person (Doris) made up for it. Would stay there again.

    « BW Carling experience »

The BW Carling hotel is always good for business and relaxation. My intention was business but BW made it relaxing! The gym was a nice extra, and the restaurant was flexible if you like to eat healthy. The Best Western staff at the Carling Avenue BW hotel are AWESOME! They go the extra mile! They provided me with a plastic plug so I could re-charge my cell phone. They also pin-pointed a great high end Italian restaurant in the area. Great experience. « All for the Money »

Booked a room with to beds for health reasons, had to leave credit card info so I could not back out last minute. At check in I was given a room key for a room with one bed and a pullout couch. I guess they did not think I would notice. I went back to front desk, there was nothing they could do and yes they agreed that I did book a room with two beds. But they did not keep me one. The room had short curl hair stuck to the bathroom mirror, food in the pullout bed, they gave me breakfast coupons. When I used them I asked if they thought I would be able to be done and out in 30-45 minutes. The reply, " Should be ok but the kitchen help was not that good today".

« Always a Good Stay When Visiting Ottawa on Business »

I've stayed at the Best Western on Carling on a number of occasions when in Ottawa. My most recent stay was for four nights in mid February. My room was neat and tidy, the bed was comfortable, and easy access to the 417 and Carling Ave made getting around town no big deal. As others have said, the service at the front desk is also top notch. Recommended for the budget wise business traveller. Keep up the good work.

« Quiet hotel, free parking, personable front staff, great steak »

Shelly at the desk remembered my son's name and had great ideas for exploring Ottawa. Menu was simple but everything we ordered was just as it should be, including the nicely medium-rare steak and even the room coffee. Our comfortable room was quiet and clean. We were even asked what locations in the hotel we might prefer for our room. Proximity key cards were fast. Will definitely come back.

« Great choice to stay when visiting Ottawa »

It was nice to see all the upgrades being done at the hotel since my last stay. It was beginning to look tired but it is great to see that renovations are being done. Fresh new looks, so bright, like the big new TV screens in the new lounge area, very refreshing. Rooms are getting a new look with 48" Smart TV's, Granite counter tops in the washrooms. Always enjoyed the great breakfast and the friendly reception staff!

« Good location and comfortable stay »

I have stayed at the BW on Carling several times for business (work chose this hotel) and I've booked it for personal. The front desk staff are always friendly and helpful. They're customer service definitely stands apart from other hotels. The rooms are large and clean. One of the best features is the large FREE parking available. Although not close to downtown, or in walking distance of many restaurants, it is close to the highway access and easy to get around. There is a little 50's style diner across the road with friendly service, good diner food and prices. Hotel was not overbooked and crazy during Winterlude like other downtown spots, and was nice and warm during the -30 temperatures. Will definitely stay again.

« An excellent choice for a visit to Ottawa »

My wife and I have been staying at this hotel off and on for decades, and have seen its facilities greatly improved over the years. Its rooms are spacious and well appointed, the beds are comfortable, the internet works great, and the parking is plentiful and free, unlike many Ottawa hotels. The location on Carling Avenue, close to the Queensway, allows quick access to downtown and west end locations. There's an on-site restaurant with reasonable prices. What more could we want?

« Clean and comfortable with paper thin walls »

My wife and I stayed here for a night away in Ottawa. The hotel itself is very clean and the beds are very comfortable. The walls unfortunately seem to be paper thin. I could hear the woman in the room next to us having a conversation on the phone. Not only could I hear her but I could also hear the man she had on speaker phone. It sounded like they were in the room with us. Overall the hotel was good, just not very private.

    « Enjoyable stay »

I stayed for one night on a business trip. Right from check in staff was very helpful in describing the amenities and assuring me they were there to help ? and I felt they were sincere. The next day I needed direction to my meeting destination and again they were very helpful.

Husband had to have surgery at the Civic Hospital so this hotel was an excellent location for our 2 night stay being only a few blocks away. . The price was reasonable. Very nice staff, clean spacious rooms. Having a fridge & microwave was nice, but the in-room coffee wasn't very good. Bathroom well appointed. Breakfast at the in-house restaurant was good & fast. There isnt much else around this location, so having a car is essential if you want to try different restaurants/shopping etc.

« Stay at Ottawa Best Western on Carling »

The staff at the front counter were friendly, informative, respectful and professional. The beds were comfortable with lots of pillows and the rooms were clean. The high speed internet was easy to connect to and was fast. Only drawback was no late night internal restaurant and we had to order out, however, the front end staff provided us with a good restaurant to order from.

« EXCELLENT FOOD AND GREAT SERVICE »

In December 2015, my family and I visited Ottawa to attend a wedding. We stayed at the Best Western Plus Ottawa City Centre, on Carling Avenue. On entering the hotel, we received the best welcome that I have ever experienced. All throughout our stay, every employee was very helpful and friendly. We decided to try the on-site restaurant after checking in, as we were a bit hungry. I was quite amazed at the quality of the food! everything that was ordered was done to perfection. Of course we ate at the restaurant for the duration of our stay. Breakfast, dinner, every meal. Any one who lives in and around the Carling Avenue area should try this restaurant. Also anyone spending over night in Ottawa, should make the effort to have a meal at this hotel restaurant. What great chefs they have! My family and I will definitely be returning to this hotel in the near future.

    « Excellent value »

For a mid level Hotel this was a loyalty affecting experience. The room was exceptional and the service from the staff felt more like a great B&B type experience. The front desk staff couldn't do enough when we needed their assistance. The restaurant and bar staff provided an experience that you might expect to receive in a hotel within a much smaller town/city.

    « Excellent stay »

We were there for Christmas eve night and were very impressed. The room was spacious and spotless. Everything was in perfect working order. At first I was worried about noise being we were so close to the elevator but we didn't hear a sound from anything all night. Great bed and friendly staff. The fitness room was well equipped and clean.Could not have wished for a single thing more during the stay.

The whole experience was excellent The lady at the check desk (Shelley) was extremely helpful and friendly. The hotel as a whole was very attractive. The room was very comfortable, clean and everything functioned smoothly. Restaurant service and food were very good. Prices were very reasonable. We will certainly stay there again.

    « OK and cheap »

The room was alright. We are a family of 4. we had plenty of space. two king size beds. Bathroom had plenty of towels. Clean, and the heater worked well and was quiet. Outdated reception area needs an upgrade, entire hotel is looking it's age. I guess that is why the price is still reasonable.

    « Fair Experience »

Customer Service was fair at this hotel. Could be improved. The room I got was close to the elevator so heard the elevator operating when people used it. Would have preferred to be warned before I took the room. The sheets had some scent to it I guess it has been used a lot but it wasn't unbearable - it was ok at the end - and it was visibly clean and neat. The room was clean, everything else was nice, and there was free parking :) Good experience overall may be back there again.

    « Extremely restful »

Have stayed at this location many times in past 13 years and if the standards remain the same I will continue to stay here. The staff are second to non.. Their local information should be valued and their helpfulness is fantastic. If you should ever ask Shelley or Don a question you will receive not an answer but a full description unfortunately not in colour. Obviously from my remarks we are very attached and fond of this location, it may not be down town but with the staffs help and a little extra cash you are going to have a visit of a life time

    « OK for travel »

Not close to amenities clean room, breakfast good, reasonably priced although staff not overly friendly. The rooms are showing their age, carpet needs to be updated etc. Require a vehicle if staying here.

    « Did the job »

Went for a Carleton University tour and stayed here for the night. Very close to the school. Close to stores and restaurants not much else. Good clean and comfortable. Friendly staff. Restaurant on site is in the basement and looked dreary decided to get breakfast elsewhere.

    « Comfortable enough, but a bit a bit dated and..beige. »

There is nothing wrong with this hotel. It's a bit dated, I wish breakfast was included, but it is clean, comfortable and the little exercise room (weight machine, some dumbells, three cardio machines) is not bad. The thing that pushes it from a 4 to a 3 is the location relative to downtown Ottawa and the lack of easy to access places to eat (unless you want to drive). The heating tends to make a buzzing sound (this was on the first floor to the right of reception) which kept me up the first night till I turned it down the second.

    « Best Western »

This hotel has awesome staff, however for me the ambiance was rather dull, the room décor and hotel seemd like it was from 1984, bed was not comfortable and there is very little to do inside the hotel (no sprts bar, restaurant was meh, it was very small and always too busy.) Not the greatest experience considering the high price

    3
« Comfortable and close to all »

Although the hotel no longer has a hot tub or sauna, for the price, it is still good value with a complimentary hot breakfast. Rooms are clean, yet I have had more comfortable beds. The electric heat also dries out the rooms - perhaps a portable humidifier is in order. Living out of hotels, you tend to get very picky.

« Great service but oh, the plumbing! »

First world service combined with third world plumbing. The tap at the bathroom sink gushed yellow water for at least 30 seconds when I first turned it on, both after I arrived and the following morning. Same thing with the shower. The tap at the bathroom sink had only two settings - scalding hot or ice cold. The shower tap had arrows that indicated which way to turn to get hot water or cold, but these arrows pointed in the wrong direction, as I discovered once I was under the shower and all lathered up. The internet in the room was slow and intermittent. On the other hand, my room was spacious and the bed was comfortable (I'm picky about my pillows, but the ones in this room passed the test). And they were generous with their coffee, giving me three pods of very nice regular coffee and one of decaffeinated.

    « HOTEL STAY »

My stay at the Best Western Hotel was exceptional. I will visit that location again once I return back to Ottawa. Next time on my visit I shall try the restaurant. The menu had a variety of options. Great staff.

« Friendly Staff, Clean property, Amazing location »

I travelled as a single woman to this very well located Hotel. I must admit that I was booked at another hotel and due to the bad reviews about cleanliness I cancelled and rebooked this property. AND .. I was SOOO pleased that I had!! The staff was very efficient and friendly.. I was checked in ..in minutes. The room was spacious and clean. With the refrigerator and microwave it made my "holiday" . The bathroom was well equipped with an excellent hair dryer and it was exceptionally clean. The staff on the front desk was GREAT!! especially Donnalee. . Now the one downfall.. and I would say it is a major one is the "restaurant" . It is located in the basement.. and it should be..it is stark.. unwelcoming and the food is barely OK. The one waitress even locked!! the door with us in there and with clients knocking at the door...while she delivered room service!! Is that not against the law..as well as very rude?? I definitely got a "put down" for unlocking the door. My Goodness!! the client could see us .. It was a good location close to the Highway to the "Trainyards" Ikea..St Laurent Shopping . Perfect also very nice for anyone that has relatives or friends at the Civic Hospital. Very Good Experience.

    « Comfortable and friendly »

I was in Ottawa for some meetings with researchers at AgCanada. This lovely accommodation was the closes one within walking distance. When I checked in, I got the feeling that most people stayed there for business. When I checked in, there was a very lovely staff member (sorry can't recall her name). She was very enthusiastic about her city: told me all the cool stuff that was happening there that I should check out when I was there. A couple of hours afterwards, I received a courtesy call from the same staff member, checking that I was satisfied with my room. Lovely!

« Good for Business trip »

Nice staff and good rooms. Comfortable bed and beautiful large 49" TV.... impressed. Location was good for my business trip as it was close to my customer but the hotel is about 15 min to down town Ottawa and it is very close to the highway that takes you down town.

« Great For My Study Weekend »

I was seeking a relatively quiet hotel not too far from home that was comfortable and not too far from amenities in order to have a study weekend. This hotel fit the bill, and I was pleased with my experience. My room was very comfortable, had a fridge, which was a bonus, and the TV was good. The hotel had a restaurant in the basement, which I visited for breakfast, and for a dessert and I thought the food quality was high and the service good. Across the street is the Westgate Mall, which was pretty dead on Sunday when I visited it (most of the stores were closed, so why would lots of people go!) to have a short break. I was touched with the nice Remembrance Day memorial in the lobby.

    « Ottawa Stay 7 Nov 2015 »

Only spent 1 night but I was really happy with the check in/out experience. The same lady on both occasions was very helpful, and pleasant. She even remembered why I came to Ottawa and asked how I spent the time with my daughter. I thought she went beyond the normal service where I was compelled to write this review.

Our party of five stayed for two nights they were very accommodating, friendly and the room was clean and comfortable. I found the price a bit too high. but it was one of the more reasonable prices in the area.

« Best Western - City Centre Ottawa »

Very nice hotel, finally comfortable beds that did not feel like picnic tables! Good room service, fast and good quality. Staff very friendly and helpful. All in all, excellent experience. NOTE: Seems Tuesday and Wednesday most expensive nights, found the price VERY high for a BW at $189.

    « nice place »

stayed overnight here on a weekend trip to Ottawa and Gatineau. Front desk staff were excellent. Donnalee is a credit to the chain. She was efficient but also loads of fun. The room was lovely and the beds comfortable. Everything was up to date and very clean. We ate in café on site for breakfast. Food was excellent and reasonably priced. Location is good with easy access to all main routes. My only concern(not a complaint) a concern, was that the water coming out of the bathroom tap was dangerously hot. I scalded my hand. My fear is that if it had been a small child turning the tap on .....my only disappointment is that I have submitted this as part of the post visit survey and have yet to hear from Best Western. not a reflection on the hotel itself) Would go back for sure

    « Feels Like Home »

This has the feeling if a smaller, home-like hotel, which is exactly what I was looking for. Everything is very clean and the beds are extremely comfortable. I love how quiet it is. It has been modernized but is a bit older building. The upgrades are wonderful and people are very helpful. Some people complain there is no "free breakfast" but there is a hotel right on site. I will definitely come again!

    « Ottawa »

We stayed at the Best Western on Carling Avenue, good location and easy access to downtown. My husband had a business meeting which he was able to commute to quite easily. We were able to enjoy the sites of downtown Ottawa, ie the Parliament buildings, Rideau Canal and had a great lunch.

    « Comfortable & Friendly »

Myself, wife and adult daughter booked for one night over Thanksgiving. We had a room with a double bed and a single bed. The room was quite spacious and the bathroom was fine. It was easy to find off the main highway and close to downtown & the people we were visiting. There was a restaurant in the basement and it served a very nice breakfast. We found it very comfortable & the staff were friendly. We would definitely stay there again.

« There are nicer hotels in the area! »

Stopped in Sept. on our way back from the east coast for 3 nights. Check in was easy and quick. The room was OK but needed an update badly. We did not take advantage of the pool or gym as we were extremely tired from our 10 hr. Drive. But they both looked OK. There is not an included breakfast offered here but there is a tiny place in the basement to purchase one. We didn't eat there but chose to eat at a retro place across the street in the mall. About a 10 min. drive from Parliament. I don't think I would stay here again.

    « Great service, comfy stay...good experience! »

I've been staying at Best Western Plus, Ottawa City Center off and on for the past few years. Each stay/experience, becomes one more great memory, and one to definitely share with friends and family. Service is very good, the place is clean, the food is awesome. Even better, it is close enough to the trendies places in town. There is a good reason as to why I keep coming back! Thanks for your service!!

    « Excellent choice »

Whenever I can I go to this hotel for business purposes. The rooms are clean and quiet. Internet is free and relatively fast. This hotel is well located, need Carling and the 417 highway. There is a also a small shopping mall opposite the hotel with restaurants and coffee shops.

« Always friendly and always clean »

I stay here when I am in town for business five times a year. I have stayed at this hotel over 20 times in the last five years. I have never has a bad experience. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The rooms and the entire hotel is always clean. It is a great place to stay.

« Not a typical Best Western, this one is poor. »

I normally have good experiences when I stay at a Best Western hotel, yet this one is not worth the money. The front staff are very nice, but that's the best thing I can say about it. Dated furnishings, no small breakfast included, no view, noisy. Seems like customer comfort is of no concern to the owners. And yet, they bill the same high room rates as other Best Western's across the country who do care about those things, and offer more in the way of comfort for their guests. Choose another Best Western in Ottawa for your stay, the Ottawa City Centre Best Western is extremely over-priced / poor value.

    3
    « over priced »

Very nice rooms with large 45+ inch TV and good bathrooms. But pricey and breakfast not included. The restaurant area is in the basement which made the space feel closed in and service was below average.

    « Great hotel »

Excellent hotel in the downtown Ottawa area. Very good staff, especially the night guy with the long hair (sorry I can't remember his name) but he was extremely friendly. Beds very comfortable, rooms a good size and one of the best showers I have used. Enjoyed the shampoo and conditioner dispenser in the shower. Did not use the restaurant or pool so cannot comment on those. Will definitely be back if in the area again.

    « Great Location »

This hotel is in a great location just 15 minutes from downtown. Older hotel but the rooms are well maintained, plus they are in the process of upgrading. Large outdoor pool and a restaurant on site. Great for families or business, I enjoyed my stay.
