We relocated to this hotel after our previous one in the area failed to meet our expectations. All good things to say about this one! Room was very clean and lots of room; beds were very comfortable and we slept well; the indoor pool was nice and warm; breakfast was good and plentiful. We will definitely consider staying here again in the future.
Stayed here for one night to attend the Bret Michaels concert. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The room was super clean and smelled fresh. Extended our checkout time to 1:00 so we didn't have to rush. Breakfast was amazing. I will bring a sound machine next time to help with the noise from the interstate nearby. We'll be back!
I did some research before our stay and while the reviews were good, I wasn't expecting this to be the best hotel of our entire road trip. I get the feeling that this location is under new management because some of the older reviews were not great and it seems like they also have new branding at the location. The room was super clean, very spacious and comfortable. The breakfast was good but the lady working the breakfast was extremely friendly and really seemed like she cared. For what we paid we definitely got a great value. I will say the only strike against them is the proximity to the highway (which isnt their fault). If you are a light sleeper, I'd definitely ask to get a room facing the front of the hotel because the back rooms are right next to I81. Eventually we did get used to it and it just became white noise. Overall a great stay, we'd definitely stay here again.
The front desk was very friendly and the check-In was quick. The hotel is not near much. There is an Italian restaurant down the street that I took out some food. The room is not that well lit. It is older but looks like it has been updated. There is a nice TV with a lot of stations. I have a king size bed suite. So there is a love sear and table. There is a microwave and small refrigerator. The hotel is right off of 81.
The overall appearance of the hotel was good. The exterior and interior were well maintained. The breakfast area and food was well maintained. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The overall condition of the room, linens, bathrooms were above average.
This stay was heading to be a disaster of an experience, with blame shared by myself, BW reservations, confusing and bait-switching online pricing and the nutty desk clerk I managed to get on the phone once (in five tries) in advance of my arrival. Long story short: Week-in-advance pricing for a weekend stay in a luxurious in-room whirlpool bath was $250 per night, non-refundable reservations were $70 less. What does rational person do? On Monday I booked at the refundable rate and marked my calendar for Thursday to cancel and rebook at the lower rate, if the room was available. It was – but on Thursday, when the website confusingly defaulted the arrival date as “today,” not the Friday arrival I wanted. I was in a hurry, didn't notice, and booked the wrong night. My bad. But things went downhill fast when I tried to correct my mistake enroute … and reached a night clerk who clearly had no clue how to do her job. She asked if she could call me back but never did, and several calls I placed afterward never were picked up. A call from my car to a Best Western reservationist gave me availability for a whirlpool room at the hotel. Wonderful!! The cost? $100. Fantastic!! Why the heck wasn't I given that price in the first place? I booked it, and hoped for the best … … and when I finally arrived late-evening at the property, there were no whirlpool rooms to be had. The two double beds I was given was perfectly acceptable, even at the $100 I was at that point willing to pay, but certainly not the $100 + $180 = $280 that at the moment was on my credit card. The next day, the morning desk clerk (and after returning home, the property manager) made sure I only paid the $100 (with tax) I felt was reasonable. Their efforts were worth adding back two stars to this review, for a five-star room experience … especially if I had that whirlpool to enjoy after eight tiring hours on the road. But would I stay there again? Not if I could be sure I could get the room I want – for a fair price, the first time booked.
The reviews on here are honestly too harsh. My stay was great. I walked in the lobby and instantly noticed (and smelled) how clean it was. I booked a king Jacuzzi room in room 217. Didn't have pillows on bed but that was a quick fix. Room was clean, and what I really liked was the sunshade AND blinds. Really pretty bathrooms. I did hear a little highway noise and did hear plumbing being used but I did not hear other people or doors closing. I did NOT have brown water coming from the tub, i thought the tub was quite clean, and there were NOT bugs.
Everything was excellent. The girl checking us In was super friendly and helpful. Had a room on the first floor which sometimes means noise from the lobby and people coming in and out of the hotel but not here. Breakfast was good. Kid loved making their own waffles and the parents enjoyed the fresh eggs, sausage links, and breakfast potatoes. Even the coffee was good. For the price we paid, excellent value!
Stayed here at the Grantville Best Western for one night to catch the Red Hot Chili Peppers show at Hersheypark Stadium. Clean, comfortable room. 15 minutes from Hershey Park. Decent breakfast including eggs, cheese omelets, potatoes, sausage patties, yogurt, waffle station, cereal, etc. Most of all - Great price!
Used to stay here when it was a comfort. Now it's Best Western. Check in was quick and pleasant Hotel has been updated. Rooms are very large, clean and bed was comfy. Large breakfast area and everything was great Would stay again
This building is now a Best Western. Kind of an under the radar to find on major travel websites, this place popped up late to our arrival window and the priced was very competitive for rooms in the area. We stayed one night in between a day at Hersheypark as it's located about 12 minutes up the road and we had to get out quickly the next morning so being next to I-81 was ideal. The hotel has breakfast including eggs, sausages and potatoes as hot items. The chaffing dish was either out of water or broken as the sausage and potatoes were cold. Would have liked to have seen milk cartons as well but other standard items like waffles, cereals, pastries, juice and coffee were there. We stayed in room 104 which is on the first level king suite with sofa bed. Really nice room with granite counters over a mini fridge and microwave / coffee maker setup. The room felt really big with its high ceilings and partial walls separating the living area from the bed. The air conditioning looked like it was central air however our room was still being controlled by buttons on the unit itself. The bed was really high off the ground and comfy, lots of extra pillows and two blankets included. The bathroom was clean, looks to have been updated recently with granite counters and one piece tub wall / shower combo We didn't use the pool but it looked nice. Overall the value of the hotel was great and we will still here again.
About 15 minutes from Hershey Park down the backroads - so closer than staying in Harrisburg without the expense of a Hershey Park hotel. Hotel is actually a Best Western now (seems it recently changed hands). Inside has been through some updates since the pictures. Rooms are spacious and include a sofa bed (although our sofa bed was difficult to maneuver - it was comfortable enough to sleep on, but I think the folding mechanism may have been broken). Nice long counter in the bathroom. Wish there was a recycling bin in the rooms as there is only trash. Pool is a little cold, but a decent size. Breakfast is good and includes hot options (potatoes, omelettes, sausage) as well as standard pastries. Beds were comfortable and service was friendly.
Very nice clean establishment. Spacious rooms and large breakfast area. Great location with back roads to Hershey Park that avoid heavy traffic. Quiet and serene location allows for a great night's sleep. Check in was quick, friendly and professional.
The check in was about the only good experience we had. We checked in on a Friday night. The first room we were originally given was on the second floor. We get to our room and the key cards to do work. Down to the front desk i go. The employee at the desk was very nice. She mentioned she was fairly new and since it was getting late she would just give us a new room instead of making us wait to figure out the issue with the key cards. We move up to the third floor. Upon entry the room looked really nice and freshly painted. Usually a good thing right! Well whoever the painter/contractor were must not be big on cleaning up after the job. There were paint chips all over the carpet, windowsill, hardwood flooring and also inside the HVAC system (I have pictures to prove it). Back down to the front desk i go to make the complaint. The girl at the desk wrote everything down. I knew that since it was getting late that nothing would be done until Saturday plus my kids had already settled in for the evening. I figured we could deal with it for one night and they could clean it up on Saturday. Saturday we were headed to Hersheypark and would be out of the room until at least Saturday night. When we leave Saturday afternoon the same employee is still on duty. She said I have your list and I will hand it off to maintenance when they get in. We get back to the room Saturday night and nothing has been done! Back down to the front desk i go. This time its a different employee who tells me that housekeeping doesn't visit that hotel everyday. Had i know this information previously I would have requested a room change. Unfortunately the bottom line was the paint chips never got cleaned up (at least not while we were there) and by the time we got back to the room it was to late to change rooms. The morning breakfast was a disappointment as well. Your only option is a Jimmy Dean pre-wrapped frozen Bacon,Egg and cheese sandwich. They offer some muffins, Nature Valley bars and some fruit. Pretty basic and certainly not how i remember this hotel from many previous good experiences. I have stayed at this hotel may times before and never had a bad experience.I was sad to see that this hotel went downhill. Unfortunately i think its time to start looking elsewhere for accommodations.
Read some of the other reviews here, and I don't know what to say. We've stayed there twice now, each time has been more than fine, and since it easily fulfills our expectations we will stay there again. We find the location to be very convenient. The accommodations are comfortable, the rooms we've had have been spacious, clean, and the beds quite comfortable. We also get one of the hot tub rooms, which we find are very relaxing after a day of golf, sightseeing, and shopping. We have minimal contact with the staff after picking up our key, so...nothing to complain about there. We also don't expect to eat there, so the breakfast option was irrelevant. Coffee was good, though.
From the outside, you will have high hopes for this property. But inside, disappointments await. The desk clerk is the unfriendliest person I have met. No hello, thank you for being a gold member, and when I asked for the complimentary bottle of water he said I'll bring you some cold ones later, and I'm still waiting. The room was not what we reserved, we requested first floor and were put on the second floor and not a king, two singles. No toliet paper either and I went down to the clerk and he said he was a fill in clerk from another property and didn't know where it was at. Luckily I got a wrapped spare from the nice couple from down the hall. The vending machines were almost empty and what was left was out of date (see photos.) The Ice Machine had a sign out of order go to the first floor and when I got to the first floor it said out of order go to the second or third floor! The hot breakfast consisted of a breakfast sandwich you heated up in the microwave. There were packaged muffins and the coffee was good. Not my first choice to stay in Hershey and next time I'll find someplace else.
This hotel has all the basics. Comfortable and pleasant for the price. Nothing fancy with adequate towels and bedding with an extra pillow, ironing board, pullout couch with table and fridge. The downsides include a light had a broken socket, a tile was missing from the baseboard, highway noise, and under the beds needed a good vacuum. Breakfast was grab and go with water, apple, muffin, mint, and yogurt / drinks to the side. There were signs up stating they were renovating however it looked like they were up awhile. We had friends staying at another hotel nearby and our room was nicer at a lesser price.
