We have not yet checked-in but I need to share this review. I have two masters degrees and have traveled for over 10 years for work. We called and called for over two hours, without answer, to ask about early check-in (1pm). Our girls had just played two lacrosse games and we've been traveling from Baltimore since 5am. No answer. We arrived to the hotel and inquired about early check-in to which we were told this would be $40! I said no way and she said “okay, how about $20?” I couldn't believe it. I did not take the bride/theft. I inquired if we could use the indoor pool while we waiting for 3p check-in and she said “absolutely not”. I have never heard of paying cash for early check- in, and someone trying to swindle the price. Nor have I heard of not being able to use the facilities until check-in. Do not trust the front desk staff or management. Hoping the room and breakfast are decent!
The facility was clean and well kept. Unfortunately the stay was not restful. The street noise was loud all night making it impossible to get anything close to a decent night's sleep. We had a two-night reservation. I went down and requested an early checkout, by 0900, but was told that was impossible. We could not be released from our reservation. We could be moved to another room but there was no assurance it would be any better. Unacceptable.
Stopped for the night on our way home from vacation. Weather was getting bad so just picked a hotel. Glad we chose this one. Hotel was clean. Beds were very comfortable. Young girl at front desk at checkin was very nice, friendly and helpful. It was late and we were hungry. Asked for recommendation for dinner and she recommended Fabio's less than 5 minutes away. Absolutely recommended. Food was amazing and home made rolls.
I'm usually not one to leave a review, good or bad but I feel it's needed. I recently stayed at the BW Grantville and was greeted by Raffy(front desk) and felt he was very welcoming. The next morning I needed to wash clothes do to traveling. When I realized the dryer was having an issue due to the second time running it on high and still being soaking wet, I contact the front desk. When I called the front desk Raffi was again on call to take care of me and after letting him know that I was having issues with the dryer it became very aware that it was a recent issue that they have not yet known it was a problem. Raffy let me know that his staff would take care of it and if I needed anything, at that point I made a decision to try to stay another night due to traveling conflicts and thought I would take a chance at staying here even though I had my clothes laid out all over the room but it's up to dry them. Raffy was very sincere trying to help in any way he could and was very helpful and very accommodating when booking second night. I would definitely stay here again and recommend this place and if on duty speak to this young man Raffy dude to his professionalism and just overall vibe. Good job BW you got a good one there.
I will never stay at this Best Western again. Fortunately I had just had a wonderful experience at the Best Western in Gettysburg, PA or it might have been my last Best Western. I had book 2 rooms. 1 handicap accessible with a roll-in shower for my husband and son who is non ambulatory and a second handicap accessible for myself and my sister. When we got there we told there were no handicap room and we must have made a mistake. I showed her the reservation and then there were 2 rooms available. I said "At least one of them has to have a roll-in shower". She assured me they both did. When we got to the room They both had tubs and only one had a bench. When I went back to talk to her, her exact response was "That's all we have. Our guests know what we have when they book with us. You have to take that room." What?!? It was late, we stayed. The next night it was overrun by a junior high baseball league championship series in the area. There were still kids running up and down the halls at 10pm at night and knocking on the doors. The next day we went to breakfast at 9:10 (it closed at 9:30) and it was almost bare. We asked if they were going to refill anything and they said, no it's to close to closing. A lot more people came after us. They just don't care about their guest there. Also, it right next to the highway and very noisy, but a lot of the hotels there are.
The rooms were spacious, comfortable, and well-equipped with all the amenities and facilities I needed. Two twin beds with sofa and 2 chairs, Table, Microwave and coffee maker. wow even 5 start doesn't have this kind of space in room. The staff were exceptionally welcoming and accommodating, making the stay even more pleasant. I was also impressed with the Wi-Fi it worked seamlessly across different areas, from the hall to the room, all on the same network and password. That's something many hotels struggle to provide, but this one managed it perfectly.
The hotel was excellent, well-maintained both inside and out. From the moment I arrived, the staff was incredibly welcoming, making me feel right at home.
1. They said we needed to pay extra to use the in room safe. Swiped my credit card and the safe still didn't work. 2. Poor breakfast selection. Over the course of three days: No yogurt, They didn't have any bagels - only bread, and on our final day they didn't even have any meat - only potatoes and eggs. 3. The room was damp 4. Water pressure was awful in the shower, felt very light 5. Pool was not heated as stated on website, kids said it was cold 6. Upon checking out, my daughter slipped and fell on the sidewalk of the hotel. I felt it and it seemed as though the sidewalk was completely painted. Paint + rain= hazard. A sidewalk should not be painted with exterior paint!!

This was my go to hotel in the Grantville area for the past 3 years. This past year, I have noticed a decline in the quality and will no longer stay here. My most recent stay there was no hot water to shower in the evening- the front desk told me I'd have to wait until morning and maybe it would work. Not a solution! Also, breakfast has gone from decent hotel fare to - the cheapest they can provide: watery waffle batter, hard as jerky turkey bacon, cold hard fried potatoes, cold tiny bits of scrambled eggs and dollar tree quality bagels and bread. The front desk staff and management are not gracious or proactive. I will say the rooms are clean and decent and the beds are comfortable. But the total package isn't worth the recent large increase in price.

We stayed five nights. Check in was uneventful and the manager was friendly. I had called several days earlier to request a room at the front of the hotel, away from the traffic noise of I-81, and the assurance I was given was honored. Our room, 417, was on the top floor away from the elevators (which, unlike the halls and lobby were always hot and humid) and ice and vending machines. The constant hum of the A/C was like white noise and did not impair restful sleep. The unit is controlled by a thermostat on the wall behind the “desk” (more like a table, no drawers at all) partly hidden by a lamp. This was confusing at first as the controls on the unit, although not functional, were not covered. A printed note taped to those controls would have been helpful. The in-room safe (one of the reasons I chose this property as I was traveling with my laptop) was situated in the closet) which had plenty of hangers) on a wobbly pedestal. It was locked when we arrived but the manager was able to open it, as he apparently has the master code to open any of them. It is the kind which requires you set a four-digit code each time you lock it. The mini fridge had no control but worked just fine. The coffee maker, on the other hand, was a disappointment. I'd been told (in the aforementioned call) that it was a Keurig machine, so I'd brought some pods with us. However, it used proprietary packets with the coffee enclosed in a paper filter. It made weak, watery coffee and so I relied on the somewhat better coffee available in the breakfast area. It did heat water adequately for tea, and since my wife is a tea drinker, we were half satisfied. The bathroom was clean and functional, with travel size soaps, shampoo, conditioner, and body lotion on a tray in the corner of the full-length granite countertop. The toilet was "comfort height" which is a necessity for anyone with hip replacements. The door was huge, covering more than half the tub (which had a grab bar) when open and restricting movement. The single wall switch controlled both the lights and the exhaust fan, an inconvenience if you needed to only use the lights when the other occupant(s) was (were) sleeping. The couch was low and reportedly had a pull-out bed but we never opened it. We joked about the “deluxe breakfast” since it didn't meet our definition of deluxe. It was quite adequate, with plenty of variety. Perhaps that's what Best Western considers deluxe (as opposed to continental) since it always had eggs (mostly scrambled), sausage, and potatoes in addition to the usual fruit, cereal, and yogurt. There was also a waffle maker, which one morning activated the smoke alarm, requiring us to walk down four flights of stairs and return the same way as the elevators hadn't been put back in service. The 5' max depth pool was clean and had plenty of towels. There was a (now apparently common) assistive device to allow those with mobility issues to enter and leave the shallow end of the pool. Parking was more than adequate and we could usually park where we could see our car from our room. Housekeeping was generally good. We usually leave a tip for the housekeeper every morning, leaving it on a pillow. The first morning it wasn't taken so we inquired of the housekeeping manager, who informed us that we would need to leave a note for them otherwise they would not touch it. This being the case, they should probably provide small envelopes like those found in many other hotels. Most days, in addition to making the bed and cleaning, consumables (except for the coffee, which I didn't want anyway) were replenished adequately. I was prepared to leave a larger tip on the final morning. However, the last day there were noticeable omissions and I even had to go to the front desk to obtain the plastic insert for the coffee maker which directs the hot water (absent a coffee packet) into the cup. Only the standard tip was left.
The hotel wasn't terrible, but nothing special either. The rooms felt dirty to me, it wasn't even swept great when we arrived, crumbs on the floor. I always look under sheets incase bugs and between the sheet they “change” and the protector, there were tons of crumbs on the one bed. I agree with the ones saying the expressway is LOUD. We were there on a tournament weekend so got stuck with a room in the back and I figured other comments were just those being picky. Nope, it's VERY LOUD, we thought the window was open… Breakfast was really good actually and pool looked nice. We didn't end up going in.
Nice hotel, clean and well-maintained. Friendly front-desk staff. BUT--make sure you get a room on the side of the building not facing I-81. Heavy truck traffic all night just a couple hundred feet from the bed, and there's not enough soundproofing to hide it. Even the air conditioner fan going full-blast can't produce enough white noise to disguise it.
Great stay here. This hotel, conveniently located just off the highway, was clean and comfortable. We had a very large room with a king bed, a sofa, and a great television. Everything was spotless. Breakfast was fine. No complaints at all here.
Dear roadpeops, Thank you for sharing your positive experience! We're delighted to hear that you found our hotel clean, comfortable, and conveniently located. It's great to know you enjoyed your spacious room and the breakfast provided. We hope to welcome you back for another enjoyable stay in the future! Warm regards, Guest Relations Specialist

We relocated to this hotel after our previous one in the area failed to meet our expectations. All good things to say about this one! Room was very clean and lots of room; beds were very comfortable and we slept well; the indoor pool was nice and warm; breakfast was good and plentiful. We will definitely consider staying here again in the future.
Stayed here for one night to attend the Bret Michaels concert. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The room was super clean and smelled fresh. Extended our checkout time to 1:00 so we didn't have to rush. Breakfast was amazing. I will bring a sound machine next time to help with the noise from the interstate nearby. We'll be back!
I did some research before our stay and while the reviews were good, I wasn't expecting this to be the best hotel of our entire road trip. I get the feeling that this location is under new management because some of the older reviews were not great and it seems like they also have new branding at the location. The room was super clean, very spacious and comfortable. The breakfast was good but the lady working the breakfast was extremely friendly and really seemed like she cared. For what we paid we definitely got a great value. I will say the only strike against them is the proximity to the highway (which isnt their fault). If you are a light sleeper, I'd definitely ask to get a room facing the front of the hotel because the back rooms are right next to I81. Eventually we did get used to it and it just became white noise. Overall a great stay, we'd definitely stay here again.
We are thrilled to hear that your recent stay exceeded your expectations and that you enjoyed the cleanliness, spaciousness, and comfort of your room. Our team takes pride in providing exceptional service, and we are delighted that you found our breakfast hostess to be friendly and caring. While we appreciate your feedback regarding the proximity to the highway, we are pleased to hear that you were able to adjust to the background noise. Thank you for choosing our hotel, and we look forward to welcoming you back in the future.
The front desk was very friendly and the check-In was quick. The hotel is not near much. There is an Italian restaurant down the street that I took out some food. The room is not that well lit. It is older but looks like it has been updated. There is a nice TV with a lot of stations. I have a king size bed suite. So there is a love sear and table. There is a microwave and small refrigerator. The hotel is right off of 81.
We appreciate your compliments on our friendly front desk staff and efficient check-in process. It's great to hear you enjoyed the nearby dining options. We're glad you found the room comfortable with modern updates and amenities such as a large TV, microwave, and refrigerator. Thank you for choosing to stay with us right off of 81.
The overall appearance of the hotel was good. The exterior and interior were well maintained. The breakfast area and food was well maintained. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The overall condition of the room, linens, bathrooms were above average.
This stay was heading to be a disaster of an experience, with blame shared by myself, BW reservations, confusing and bait-switching online pricing and the nutty desk clerk I managed to get on the phone once (in five tries) in advance of my arrival. Long story short: Week-in-advance pricing for a weekend stay in a luxurious in-room whirlpool bath was $250 per night, non-refundable reservations were $70 less. What does rational person do? On Monday I booked at the refundable rate and marked my calendar for Thursday to cancel and rebook at the lower rate, if the room was available. It was – but on Thursday, when the website confusingly defaulted the arrival date as “today,” not the Friday arrival I wanted. I was in a hurry, didn't notice, and booked the wrong night. My bad. But things went downhill fast when I tried to correct my mistake enroute … and reached a night clerk who clearly had no clue how to do her job. She asked if she could call me back but never did, and several calls I placed afterward never were picked up. A call from my car to a Best Western reservationist gave me availability for a whirlpool room at the hotel. Wonderful!! The cost? $100. Fantastic!! Why the heck wasn't I given that price in the first place? I booked it, and hoped for the best … … and when I finally arrived late-evening at the property, there were no whirlpool rooms to be had. The two double beds I was given was perfectly acceptable, even at the $100 I was at that point willing to pay, but certainly not the $100 + $180 = $280 that at the moment was on my credit card. The next day, the morning desk clerk (and after returning home, the property manager) made sure I only paid the $100 (with tax) I felt was reasonable. Their efforts were worth adding back two stars to this review, for a five-star room experience … especially if I had that whirlpool to enjoy after eight tiring hours on the road. But would I stay there again? Not if I could be sure I could get the room I want – for a fair price, the first time booked.
The reviews on here are honestly too harsh. My stay was great. I walked in the lobby and instantly noticed (and smelled) how clean it was. I booked a king Jacuzzi room in room 217. Didn't have pillows on bed but that was a quick fix. Room was clean, and what I really liked was the sunshade AND blinds. Really pretty bathrooms. I did hear a little highway noise and did hear plumbing being used but I did not hear other people or doors closing. I did NOT have brown water coming from the tub, i thought the tub was quite clean, and there were NOT bugs.
Everything was excellent. The girl checking us In was super friendly and helpful. Had a room on the first floor which sometimes means noise from the lobby and people coming in and out of the hotel but not here. Breakfast was good. Kid loved making their own waffles and the parents enjoyed the fresh eggs, sausage links, and breakfast potatoes. Even the coffee was good. For the price we paid, excellent value!
Stayed here at the Grantville Best Western for one night to catch the Red Hot Chili Peppers show at Hersheypark Stadium. Clean, comfortable room. 15 minutes from Hershey Park. Decent breakfast including eggs, cheese omelets, potatoes, sausage patties, yogurt, waffle station, cereal, etc. Most of all - Great price!
Used to stay here when it was a comfort. Now it's Best Western. Check in was quick and pleasant Hotel has been updated. Rooms are very large, clean and bed was comfy. Large breakfast area and everything was great Would stay again
This building is now a Best Western. Kind of an under the radar to find on major travel websites, this place popped up late to our arrival window and the priced was very competitive for rooms in the area. We stayed one night in between a day at Hersheypark as it's located about 12 minutes up the road and we had to get out quickly the next morning so being next to I-81 was ideal. The hotel has breakfast including eggs, sausages and potatoes as hot items. The chaffing dish was either out of water or broken as the sausage and potatoes were cold. Would have liked to have seen milk cartons as well but other standard items like waffles, cereals, pastries, juice and coffee were there. We stayed in room 104 which is on the first level king suite with sofa bed. Really nice room with granite counters over a mini fridge and microwave / coffee maker setup. The room felt really big with its high ceilings and partial walls separating the living area from the bed. The air conditioning looked like it was central air however our room was still being controlled by buttons on the unit itself. The bed was really high off the ground and comfy, lots of extra pillows and two blankets included. The bathroom was clean, looks to have been updated recently with granite counters and one piece tub wall / shower combo We didn't use the pool but it looked nice. Overall the value of the hotel was great and we will still here again.
About 15 minutes from Hershey Park down the backroads - so closer than staying in Harrisburg without the expense of a Hershey Park hotel. Hotel is actually a Best Western now (seems it recently changed hands). Inside has been through some updates since the pictures. Rooms are spacious and include a sofa bed (although our sofa bed was difficult to maneuver - it was comfortable enough to sleep on, but I think the folding mechanism may have been broken). Nice long counter in the bathroom. Wish there was a recycling bin in the rooms as there is only trash. Pool is a little cold, but a decent size. Breakfast is good and includes hot options (potatoes, omelettes, sausage) as well as standard pastries. Beds were comfortable and service was friendly.
Very nice clean establishment. Spacious rooms and large breakfast area. Great location with back roads to Hershey Park that avoid heavy traffic. Quiet and serene location allows for a great night's sleep. Check in was quick, friendly and professional.
The check in was about the only good experience we had. We checked in on a Friday night. The first room we were originally given was on the second floor. We get to our room and the key cards to do work. Down to the front desk i go. The employee at the desk was very nice. She mentioned she was fairly new and since it was getting late she would just give us a new room instead of making us wait to figure out the issue with the key cards. We move up to the third floor. Upon entry the room looked really nice and freshly painted. Usually a good thing right! Well whoever the painter/contractor were must not be big on cleaning up after the job. There were paint chips all over the carpet, windowsill, hardwood flooring and also inside the HVAC system (I have pictures to prove it). Back down to the front desk i go to make the complaint. The girl at the desk wrote everything down. I knew that since it was getting late that nothing would be done until Saturday plus my kids had already settled in for the evening. I figured we could deal with it for one night and they could clean it up on Saturday. Saturday we were headed to Hersheypark and would be out of the room until at least Saturday night. When we leave Saturday afternoon the same employee is still on duty. She said I have your list and I will hand it off to maintenance when they get in. We get back to the room Saturday night and nothing has been done! Back down to the front desk i go. This time its a different employee who tells me that housekeeping doesn't visit that hotel everyday. Had i know this information previously I would have requested a room change. Unfortunately the bottom line was the paint chips never got cleaned up (at least not while we were there) and by the time we got back to the room it was to late to change rooms. The morning breakfast was a disappointment as well. Your only option is a Jimmy Dean pre-wrapped frozen Bacon,Egg and cheese sandwich. They offer some muffins, Nature Valley bars and some fruit. Pretty basic and certainly not how i remember this hotel from many previous good experiences. I have stayed at this hotel may times before and never had a bad experience.I was sad to see that this hotel went downhill. Unfortunately i think its time to start looking elsewhere for accommodations.
Dear metz322, Thank you for your comprehensive review detailing your recent stay with us. We are very disappointed to learn of your experience at our hotel, and we apologize for the many issues that you encountered. We have reviewed all of your comments as a management team, and each department head will formulate a plan to ensure that the risk of such issues occurring again are minimized. We apologize sincerely for not providing you with a better stay.
Read some of the other reviews here, and I don't know what to say. We've stayed there twice now, each time has been more than fine, and since it easily fulfills our expectations we will stay there again. We find the location to be very convenient. The accommodations are comfortable, the rooms we've had have been spacious, clean, and the beds quite comfortable. We also get one of the hot tub rooms, which we find are very relaxing after a day of golf, sightseeing, and shopping. We have minimal contact with the staff after picking up our key, so...nothing to complain about there. We also don't expect to eat there, so the breakfast option was irrelevant. Coffee was good, though.
Dear P4198CBmichaelp, Thank you so much for taking the time to tell us about your wonderful experience and for always choosing to stay with us. We are so encouraged to always do good for our guests. We are really appreciative of your generous compliments about our location, comfortable bed, clean rooms, and amenities. We are glad that our services, hospitality, and accommodations exceeded your expectations and hope that you experience the same comfortable stay during your next visit! We look forward to seeing you and your family again.
From the outside, you will have high hopes for this property. But inside, disappointments await. The desk clerk is the unfriendliest person I have met. No hello, thank you for being a gold member, and when I asked for the complimentary bottle of water he said I'll bring you some cold ones later, and I'm still waiting. The room was not what we reserved, we requested first floor and were put on the second floor and not a king, two singles. No toliet paper either and I went down to the clerk and he said he was a fill in clerk from another property and didn't know where it was at. Luckily I got a wrapped spare from the nice couple from down the hall. The vending machines were almost empty and what was left was out of date (see photos.) The Ice Machine had a sign out of order go to the first floor and when I got to the first floor it said out of order go to the second or third floor! The hot breakfast consisted of a breakfast sandwich you heated up in the microwave. There were packaged muffins and the coffee was good. Not my first choice to stay in Hershey and next time I'll find someplace else.
Dear hoosierhobbies, Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. We were disappointed to read about the issues you encountered with your room, and we sincerely apologize for not meeting your expectations. Steps shall be taken to make sure we do not repeat these concerns. We are grateful for all feedback that helps us adapt as we are dedicated to maintaining a dependable travel experience for our guests. We appreciate your patience, and we hope you will choose us again for the seamless stay you deserve.
This hotel has all the basics. Comfortable and pleasant for the price. Nothing fancy with adequate towels and bedding with an extra pillow, ironing board, pullout couch with table and fridge. The downsides include a light had a broken socket, a tile was missing from the baseboard, highway noise, and under the beds needed a good vacuum. Breakfast was grab and go with water, apple, muffin, mint, and yogurt / drinks to the side. There were signs up stating they were renovating however it looked like they were up awhile. We had friends staying at another hotel nearby and our room was nicer at a lesser price.
Hi Sunshinelola, It is wonderful to hear that you enjoyed your stay and that you have rated our hospitality and accommodations so highly! Thank you so much for your compliments on our staff, breakfast and we were able to meet your expectations of cleanliness and service in our hotel. We can't begin to tell you how much we appreciate your review, and we can't wait to serve you again. Thank you very much!"
