Have just returned from a very enjoyable 4-night stay with 42 other travellers in a coach party. Formerly a motel, the hotel is on two floors in places, and occupies a large plot of land, alongside a parkland setting, with distant views to the Swale Estuary. Jason is a hands-on owner, actively involved with the day-to-day running, and supported by a most friendly and helpful team of staff. The choice in the self-serve Breakfast area is superb, with a range of fresh fruit, pastries and extensive choice of freshly cooked hot food, as well as the usual breakfast fare. Would definitely recommend.
This hotel is fine. Someone is really trying to make an effort here and they deserve to make a success of it. The whole experience was enjoyable. The room was comfortable and a reasonable size. Breakfast was really well presented and short of nothing you required. If, like me, you don't eat heavily in the evenings, your options are limited and you're stuck with £13.00 minimum evening meal cost.
We used this as a stop to Darwin escapes, excellent place to stay , so impressed we are in room 50 and we were so surprised when we opened the door. Breakfast was amazing very well looked after I am so impressed and will definitely come back
We stayed after a meet up with old friends so were tired when we arrived. The room had a large fridge with 2 bottles of water and 2 glasses. The milk supplied was uht cartons which I dislike. I phoned reception and asked for fresh milk and a helpfull receptionist brought it to our room. We enjoyed a cuppa and one in the morning as milk kept in fridge, only a small thing but a game changer for me .The room and shower were fine . We had no reception for BBC 1 but not to worry. Every member of staff we spoke to were pleasant. The breakfast bacon and egg was cooked as I requested and enjoyed the fresh pastries.
We got married at Judds Folly on Saturday 26th August. From the day we first went in to book our wedding date, Carlie has been brilliant, she has helped and guided us all the way through, always there for us, nothing was too much trouble. On our wedding day, it went so smooth, Carlie and Jason had it all under control so we didn't have to stress or worry about anything. Our wedding breakfast was fantastic, everyone of our guests said how lovely the food was. The staff were very approachable, attentive and nothing was too much trouble. We went to breakfast the next day and the warm friendly staff continued their helpfulness. We would highly recommend to have your wedding there, to stay there and to eat there. We will return with no hesitation. Andy and Julie
Stayed for one night with my well-behaved labrador. Very warm welcome, very friendly staff, rooms are a little basic but clean and functional. Good menu choices for dinner and drinks selection at bar. Breakfast was excellent you could taste the produce was well sourced and good quality.
I stayed at Judds Folly midweek and on arrival I was greeted at reception by a lovely lady who explained where my room was.. the evening meal and breakfast were lovely and my room was excellent. The two ladies in in the evening engaged in conversation and nothing was an issue. Very quiet and excellent room rate.. would stay again
I was booked in here by my company whilst on a work visit in the area. I like to walk and it took me 25 mins from the station in Faversham. The welcome at the hotel was so friendly, and the grounds are lovely. It felt great to be more remote for a change! I was allocated a suite which was lovely, and so spacious and had everything I could possibly need. I had dinner in the restaurant which was lovely, again, with great service, and an excellent selection particularly for me as a vegetarian! Breakfast had a lovely selection which set me up for the day. To be honest I didn't want to go to off to work, could have stayed for the week!! To add, I was a solo female traveler and felt really safe here.
This hotel has its rather quirky ways but is also a small (28 room) place with real charm. The nightly rates are reasonable compared to the rates at the few hotels in Faversham. It's on a hilltop and you can look down on Faversham to the east from near the east property line. On a clear day the ocean is also visible to the distant north. It's surrounded on three sides by sheep grazing in the fields. Met and talked with the sheep farmer at the bar. I look forward to staying at this hotel again and buying the sheep farmer a few beers!
We stayed here for my brothers wedding and it's a lovely hotel. The wedding was amazing and Carly was an amazing host. The rooms were lovely and up to date and they had fans in which is great when it's been so hot! Plenty of space in the rooms too. I'd certainly recommend this hotel as a wedding venue. The breakfast was very good, always hot and kept replenished, the options weren't limited either. We'd stay here again if we ever needed something in the area.
We wanted a late breakfast. Found this hotel. The food, was absolutely amazing. The staff great. I found a real little gem of a hotel. I can't wait to go back and enjoy the other food that looks amazing. Thank you Judds Folly.
The area that the hotel is set in is wonderful. The staff were all lovely, professional and very helpful. The dinner was brilliant and the breakfast offering was fantastic. Unfortunately the room itself was the downfall of our stay. We had booked a suite, this had a kitchen area (which is a great addition) unfortunately it was not at all clean. The bed was really not very comfortable (felt like the cheapest possible mattress) so neither of us slept very well. The room and hall areas leading to them needs a lot of updating.
I felt the room/ cottage is quite a lot of money for a small holiday let. However the hotel restaurant and bar are each very good. The staff are reasonably helpful. Lovely surroundings but you do need to be aware it is quite a way from the nearest town.
Fantastic place really pleased with every aspect of my stay. I could not fault a thing and super breakfast. The gardens are very pretty and staff couldn't do enough to help me. I thought the price was very reasonable having looked at others. Will be back.
Had an enjoyable stay here in June '23. Lovely room, but small bathroom. Staff were all excellent, especially Holly. Food good, but waiting times could be better. Breakfast was very enjoyable. Would definitely stay again.
We stayed here for 2 nights. We had a doggy friendly room.. when we arrived there was a little treat bag for the dog (very nice touch..) The rooms and the service were great value for money. We overlooked the garden, and the grounds are lovely too. I would definitely recommend staying here. The staff are lovely and it's a short drive to town and 20 minutes ish to the coast… Thank you for a lovely stay….
Quality food for breakfast, excellent service, treated you like a human being, upgraded room since they were not fully booked (nice touch). Every single member of staff were polite and as helpful as they could possibly be. We were astonished at the quality of every aspect of our stay. We even had an Inglenook fireplace. Not your standard hotel, a little quirky and you had to go outside to get to breakfast from our room which was quiet and remote. Car parking outside room was astounding. 10 steps from car to hotel room. We will always look at this first if we are in the Faversham area. And the price was much less than anyone could possibly expect to pay for a stay like this.
Really helpful staff . They could not do enough for you . We went on a murder night which was great fun . The food was very good & the bar was warm & welcoming . The room was clean & warm . We hope to visit again very soon .
Working down in Kent i stopped at this hotel for 4 nights in January 2023 and what a great place to stay. It was really cold weather but the hotel and my room was warm as Toast. The room was very clean and comfortable cant fault it. the food in this hotel is very nice full of flavour and well cooked and the one thing I really liked was it was always piping hot. Breakfast aging is one of the best hotel breakfasts I have ever had. Now for the staff they are all amazing so friendly nothing is to much trouble for them they treat you like they would treat they own family every member from the young people to the older more mature ladies who were working on the evening of the 26th Jan 23 ( i have to call them ladies or they may beat me up next time lol only joking lovely ladies) if you want a very nice friendly clean and comfortable home from home hotel with amazing food and staff you wont beat this place
Fab hotel cannot fault it, rooms clean and comfortable, food excellent, staff helpful and accommodating, nothing was too much trouble. Our birding group from Lincoln had a great time only wish the weather was better, but it was January so you have to take what you can. Overall a great place to stay.
Amazing stay here for 2 nights ❤️ room was very clean and had everything we could possibly need. Food was amazing and it's in a prime location for attractions ❤️ not to mention the staff. Alan and Ellie stood out for us. Phenomenal customer service, great company and all round good humans. Thank you. Hope to see you again soon xx
Booked for Christmas for 3 nights food was amazing staff was very friendly and accommodating had a great time would highly recommend the rooms was beautiful and very comfortable would like to thank Jason carlie Jan Chris and all the staff ..
The staff at Judds Folly could not do enough for us. From the beginning we were made to feel special and very welcome. The wedding organisers, Carlie and Jason were particularly attentive. The menu choices were great and they were very accommodating for vegan choices. On the day, Carlie's attention to detail was spot on - keeping a watchful eye on any requests from the top table. Prices are very reasonable. We chose a local hotel and whilst the hotel is not a luxury one, it more than makes up for this by the friendliness of all the staff. We would recommend the venue to anyone!
Thanks to Jason and Carlie for an amazing memorable day for our wedding. When you come to choose a venue in Kent don't be swayed thinking the more you pay the better it will be. Judds Folly is a Newley refurbished hotel that has all the facilities you need with a new bar area as well as a new suite to have your wedding breakfast and evening entertainment. Carlie was understanding of what we required and with a few tweaks here and there our day was as we envisaged. As far as I'm aware all our guests that stayed had a great experience with breakfast being described as fabulous. Thanks guys.
Stayed midweek in a chalet style room at the back of the hotel. Went down for dinner but the restaurant was closed and we were shown to the bar area. It was freezing with no atmosphere. We moved tables to avoid the annoying guest who was playing a movie on her phone at the dinner table. It was so annoying we left. At 8am the fire alarms in the room went off and no explanation was offered. We were kept awake by two dogs barking in the adjacent room. All in all we checked out avoiding breakfast. Handed the keys in and was totally ignored. Won't stay again
We needed to find somewhere to hold a reception for about 30 people to celebrate the life of my wife's mother following her funeral. Judds Folly was suggested. From the moment we made the enquiry the events manager, Karlie, took care of all of our requirements excellently. The room was just right, the food selection, quality and presentation met, and in some cases exceeded, all of our needs She took care of the vegans in our party, ensured access for wheelchairs made sure that the food was served throughout the reception so that it was always fresh and, where necessary, warm. The whole thing went entirely to plan, due to her ability to advise on how best to go about it and then make sure that all of the detail works. All in all a great success. Thanks.
Spent a couple of nights at Judds Folly with a group of nine friends. We all agreed that the staff were very friendly and accommodating, the rooms reasonably priced and perfectly adequate and the food excellent. Just a pity that we drank them out of Merlot! One minor gripe - the shower in the disabled accommodation is not walk in. We would all go back - which says it all!
Well what can I say we had a perfect wedding at the Judd Folly Hotel Jason Carlie Jane and all the staff made our wedding perfect the food the service and rooms we had no problems, the breakfast was a great and good choice to choose from. Wedding suite was brilliant but just one drawback Jason had promised us a hot tub but in the end it didnt really mater as the rest of the room was amazing And it was that nice we have booked our Christmas there this year. Very enjoyable and very plesent. Thankyou Tony and Sue
We visited Judds Folly a couple of years back and had a great stay so when we were in the area again we decided to stay for the night. Unfortunately it disappointed; although we had a suite this time we actually preferred the type of room we had previously (the ones that face the courtyard). Room was nice and clean but very dated. Dinner was very hit and miss but breakfast was excellent with a fantastic choice (bowls of fresh strawberries and blueberries were very nice). They do appear to be running on very few staff with many doing two or three jobs! There appears to be an upgrade program going on so it will be interesting to see how the Hotel develops.
After reviewing our previous visit to Judds Folly, I can only say I'm very saddened and disappointed yet again. After the unexpected phone call from Mr Jason Wolverton the owner of Judds Folly regarding my previous review, I can only say his phone call came across as bullying. His phone call should have been saying sorry for your disappointing evening, what can we do to make sure this doesn't happen again, he came across as bullying to take my review down off of Trip Advisor. As a previous business owner I was very upset that this gentleman felt it was his duty to confront me by phone about my review. As I pointed out to him, in this country we have a freedom of speach and can voice our opinions openly, but he talked over me and didn't want to listen. As a business owner for over 20 years, customers are our bread and butter, and word of mouth is better than paying for advertising. I would never ever treat any of my customers the way Mr Jason Wolverton spoke to me this evening
Lovely location in the Kent countryside with beautiful views, ideal for photos to be taken outside. The staff are very attentive and friendly nothing was too much trouble for them, made our day very special. Jason the owner helped us to organise our party, nothing was too much trouble for him. The venue is a beautiful place to celebrate any event ,especially weddings or golden weddings. We had a carvery meal and all guests commented how good the food was ,piping hot and delicious ,with 3 choices of meat and a variety of vegtables. The venue was perfectly decorated to our choice of black and gold. Our accommodation we had a lovely suite with champagne and chocolates, which came included with the price. The breakfast was amazing with so much choice. Thank you Judd Folly for making our golden wedding anniversary so memorable . We would highly recommend this hotel. Melvyn and Anne Packman ,
What a wonderful place to celebrate my sister and brother in law's Golden Wedding. We were made welcome by all of the lovely staff who went out of their way to make the evening perfect. With a warm afternoon we were able to sit in the grounds having a drink with friends overlooking the lovely Kent countryside and even sea views across to the Isle of Sheppey. The evening celebrations were perfectly run with celebration drinks beforehand before moving on to the beautifully decorated dining room. The carvery meal was piping hot and constantly being filled up. Well done to the Manager and staff for looking after us all so well. We stayed overnight and the choice for breakfast was amazing with very attentive staff once again ! We highly recommend Judds Folly.
The dining room decor was dreadful - I have never seen worse. Some of the food was fine and the chocolate and orange torte was delicious. The fish platter, however, was mostly breaded and tasteless. Our waiter, Alan, was delightful. Possibly worth a second visit to try some other menu items when, hopefully, the dining room will have had a full makeover.
If anyone is thinking of getting married at Judds Folly, we totally recommend doing so! We had the most magical day. From the very first meeting we had with Jason & Carlie, we were made to feel so welcome & special. The whole journey of planning our wedding was made so easy. You always hear stories of weddings being stressful, but it really was just so chilled & you just knew your day was in safe hands. Carlie is so organised and takes everything you want for your day onboard with no hesitation. There's such a lovely feel to Judd's Folly, especially with the new Cromwell suite. What makes it so special is how lovely all the staff are. Nothing was ever a problem, always smiles & so polite. All my guests were telling me how lovely & helpful all the staff were. I was lucky enough to stay in yew tree, it was a spacious room & was so cosy. There was so much room for the hair dresser & makeup artist with all my family. The day itself was absolutely perfect. The new aisle & gazebo is beautiful & the long walk down the aisle was a dream come true. The food was delicious & the room was decorated beautifully (exactly to how we wanted it). It really was the best day of our lives, all of our friends & families had the best time. Carlie is a real credit to Judd's Folly & is amazing at her job. She really made you feel so special, and was super organised. We can't thank everyone at Judds folly enough for making our day so perfect.
We had the most amazing wedding day here. The new ceremony area is beautiful with fantastic views. The new Cromwell Suite was bright and airy and welcoming too. The food was delicious. All the staff were extremely friendly and efficient, yet unobtrusive throughout the day. All our guests commented on how lovely the entire day was. Huge thank you to Carlie, without her tireless efforts the day would not have been as special as it was. In addition, Donna, Alan and Christopher warrant special mention for their cheerfulness and quality of service. I would highly recommend Judd's Folly Hotel as a wedding venue.
Highly recommended, you will not be disappointed. Very helpful and friendly stall. Excellent breakfast and other meals. Rooms are good and there are very good views with outside seating provided in quantity.
A scheduled three night stay turned into two due to work commitments. We visited after checking reviews, personal recommendation and the hotel's dog friendly approach. On arrival, we were impressed with the location and the driveway up to the hotel. It's set in lovely grounds and, apart from a train's track noise (not an issue at all), it's peaceful and quiet. We stayed in Room 1 which was almost next door to reception. There was a wedding at the hotel that, apart from being busier, didn't impact on our stay whatsoever. The room was a little tired and dark due to only a small window but was more than adequate and the bed was beautifully clean and comfortable. Apart from our dog finding a tablet and hot chocolate sachet under the chest of drawers, it was clean. As long as your dog is kept on a lead it's a perfect location to walk around with two public footpaths either side of the drive entrance. We met the next door neighbour farmer who appreciated our dog being restrained especially as his ewes were lambing. Hospitality was first class. All team members were friendly, courteous, personable and very helpful. Food was amazing. We ate breakfast and dined one evening too. And our dog… she was over the moon that the chef personally tended to her requirements of a scrambled egg and vegetarian sausage each morning! Now that's AMAZING. We will definitely return as we have family nearby and it's such a fabulous find. Thank you to all at Judd's Folly.
We stayed here for 4 nights 6th to 10th June 2022 and were allocated a room in one of the newly renovated cottages (Oak 42) towards the rear of the hotel. The views of the farmland through the window were a pleasure, the accommodation was comfortable and the grounds were delightful in being rural and natural rather than manicured (great works done in wilding and supporting wildlife by Colin the part-time gardener). Staff were all very helpful and pleasant without being obseqious and overall we had a fantastic relaxed break. Breakfasts were tasty and plenfiful.
Had a good one night stay at Judd's Folly. Staff very nice and super helpful. The breakfast was excellent - hard to think where we've had better. The room (described as superior) was pretty good too and no noise from adjoining rooms. The bathroom was the letdown - lots of messy silicon sealant everywhere and if I'm generous what I'd call a rustic shower. Given I only spent 5 mins in the bathroom would be prepared to stay again - but please fix up the bathroom. The grounds could do with a tidy-up too - some very odd piles of stuff left in plain sight.
Our Judd's Folly Wedding on Friday May 20th was most definitely the best day we could have ever imagined which was all thanks to this wonderful venue and amazing team of staff. We couldn't have asked for a better day, with special thanks to Jason, Carlie and Gill who from start to finish helped to make the day perfect. Our family and friends have all commented on how great all the staff were throughout. The weather meant we couldn't get married in the beautiful outside ceremony area so quickly rearranged for us to get married inside and the rest of the day spent in the wedding suite couldn't have been any better. The set up of the whole venue creates the perfect atmosphere buzz and the whole day flows. Everyone loved the food and service they received throughout the day, for the stay and the breakfast the following morning. It is certainly something we will remember for the rest of our lives and can't wait to keep coming back to visit and relive the memories. Highly recommend. 5 stars!
We joined friends already staying with their pug and stayed for 1 night with our two dogs. The ground floor room was reasonably comfortable, with a small fenced off patio for the dogs, though a gap in the fence had been simply blocked by a plant pot. The dogs kept sniffing under the bed and when I checked why I found a ball plus a wrapped boiled sweet. Whilst the ball was welcome I was glad I found the sweet before they did. Other dog friendly hotels we've stayed in provide a water bowl and sometimes even a dog bed, in this case there was nothing. Luckily we always take our own, although these may have been available had I asked. We were also surprised that only one bath sheet and one small towel was provided for a double room, though again extras could have been made available had we asked for them. Our biggest disappointment was having to eat meals in the small lounge area, which smelt musty, was dark and was just not particularly inviting. The lounge also acts as a corridor between part of the hotel and some rooms, and unfortunately the traffic meant that the dogs were much more restless and reactive than normal. One of the hotel washrooms is also situated there and the flushing of the WC and noise from the handryer didn't do anything to enhance the ambiance at breakfast and dinner. On the plus side the staff were very friendly and polite. The hotel grounds are beautiful and if the weather had been better we could definitely have made more use of them. On a personal level we wouldn't stay there again with our dogs and the main reason for writing this review is to make other dog owners aware before they book that the dining experience isn't that great unless you are lucky with the weather and can eat outside.
After 3 weeks travelling the UK and The Irish Republic, how excellent was it to find a hotel room with refrigerator and washing machine, something lacking in every hotel experienced so far. Beautiful grounds. Loved the evening meal and the full buffet breakfast served by helpful and friendly staff.
We stayed in the cabins that have been converted into two rooms and although the room itself is really nice, I think that it makes me feel slightly uncomfortable staying so close to somebody else where you can literally hear them peeing in the night. The cabins would have been best as a one room thing. But the room was great, my boyfriend had no complaints with the shower and I could connect my YouTube to the TV. There was a hairdryer and a fan in the wardrobe and tea facilities. Although in the kettle, there was something in it which we were hoping was just limescale haha.
We stayed one night the room was clean and comfortable we had corner bath and a shower we were there for a family party the food was good . Next morning we had breakfast was excellent . The staff were friendly and helpful . The Hotel was ideal for visiting places a round Kent
What a find, traveled here for a reunion with my children and grandsons who live nearby. Very friendly welcome and we were to find out just how friendly the staff were. It's a very quirky hotel, we had room 21 which was up some steep stairs. The room was lovely and had everything you would expect and more. As a family of ten, we ate at the hotel on Sunday evening. The price if the meals were reasonable for a hotel. I had the salmon and it was lovely. Others had different meals and everyone enjoyed theirs. The cost of drinks varied, wine was reasonable but I had a pint of IPA and my wife had a bulmers fruit cider and the cost was £11.10. A bit steep I thought. Nevertheless it did not affect our stay and we would certainly stay here again.
Beautiful grounds and view as you enter the driveway of this hotel. The cottage room that my husband and I stayed in provided spacious accommodation with a lovely en suite. The staff were so incredibly friendly and helpful, providing a home-from-home feel with their warmth. As a smaller hotel compared to the well-known commercial hotels, it gives good value for money, wonderful breakfast and dinner choice, and a location that makes getting into Faversham easily accessible. I strongly recommend a stay at Judd's Folly if you want a cozy, friendly, well priced establishment in a peaceful location.
We stayed for 1 night on 17th April and have to say from the welcome to checkout we had a really great experience. We had our puppy with us who was really happy with all the attention, we had dinner in the evening and the service we had from Neh, Ellie & Donna was fabulous. The breakfast was really good and lots of variety. Definitely would recommend and will return if we are down this way again. Thanks very much team Folly Judd x
Had a lovely afternoon here for mothers day. Afternoon tea for 5 of us. The restaurant had a lovely atmosphere and staff were really efficient. Food was great too! The Mums really enjoyed it and got a present each for mothers day too. Overall really good!
I can honestly say judd folleys is one of the best hotels we have stayed in. The staff are incredibly inviting, polite, hard working. We chose to stay here as we will be moving to the local area in the coming months and wanted to check out the area. We were in room 53 (highly recommend) very large room with huge bed, table & chairs, sofa/arm chair/ fireplace/ tv/kettle/ fridge/ newly decorated bathroom with AMAZING shower. Breakfast was lovely too, honestly the staff are a credit to this hotel. Will definitely return and will be our no.1 recommendation for family and friends.
This is a fabulous place to stay over at ..the rooms are comfortable, warm, clean and inviting ...The food was lovely ..the breakfasts were awesome and the the evening meal perfect ..there is something for everyone on their extensive menus ... The best part were the staff.. they were all so friendly and accommodating ..and Thebes bit .. two bowls of sausage for my darling doggie who were welcomed at the hotel and allowed to accompany us at all times ...the grounds offed good walks for The dogs a...and the location perfect for exploring this area of Kent ...at an unbelievable price .. fantastic few days away at an unbeatable price ... will return
I have only given 4/5 as I didn't have breakfast and didn't even turn the TV on. However I can say that the staff members I spoke to were friendly and efficient, the room was impeccably clean, the bed was comfortable, the situation quiet and the price very reasonable.
Working/ training away from home, company paid for hotel. It's done the job great. All the staff are friendly and helpful. Any problems I had have been dealt with quickly and like they were no trouble. Even if some were my own making. Sit down Breakfast starts at 7 but they offer a takeaway service if you don't have time. Evening meal is value for money. Eaten for 4 nights and can't fault the food. I stayed in the house with 4 rooms, it was a nice size, tv, kettle, etc just what I needed. Would recommend to my company for future.
The hotel was very communicative regarding the booking in telling us that there was some building work taking place, but it wouldn't affect our stay. Our room (no. 32) was pleasant enough and the ensuite shower/toilet was ok although it was a guess with the shower which way was hot. The head itself had flexible nozzles so it was easy to clear any hard water deposits. There was a large widescreen TV on a moveable bracket. The bed was firm but very comfortable. We went to the restaurant for dinner - the staff were friendly and helpful and the menu had a reasonable slection of choices. My partner chose the homemade vegetable soup which arrived lukewarm, so it was taken back with apologies to be reheated. For main course my partner had ribeye steak which looked very good, and I had cottage pie with cheesey mash. This arrived in the form of the cottage pie in a two handle soup bowl and a portion of peas in a small bowl, both on the plate. It tasted fine but the presentation was a bit bemusing. I appreciate that the cottage pie was portioned by means of soup bowls which were probably put in the kitchen fridge and then microwaved to order. To be honest it would have looked much better served on the plate with the peas, and the bowls left behind. Maybe the Chef was in a rush? We went back up to the bedroom and I was looking forward to watching a programme at 9.30. Despite being switched on and showing Freeview, I couldnt get any of the channels to play and I am not the type to call up reception at that time of evening just for a TV ! I pulled the tv out with the intention of checking the aerial connection and found the back of the tv and the bracket covered in dust. The front of the tv had tiny flecks of paint on it as did the mirror which suggested that the ceiling had been painted and the decorator had not been generous with his dust sheets. We had a good sleep and it was nice and quiet during the night. Breakfast was very good with every type of palate catered for including "innocent smoothies", my only regret was that I should have paid for breakfast when booking the room and perhaps saved a little money as £11+ per head is a tad expensive but seems to be the norm with hotels nowadays including the big chains. On checking out I mentioned the dust issue to the Duty Manager who said it was probably the adjacent building work to blame - perhaps, but I think it simply got left behind as other surfaces in the room seemed to be dust free. Would I go back again? probably, but I would hope that the hotel would be able to address the issues highlighted. A few tweaks here and there would make it an even nicer place to stay.
What a great hotel!! Everything was fantastic from checkin to checkout I could not fault this hotel. The room was fabulous. The staff were so helpful nothing was too much trouble. The food from breakfast to diner was some of the best I have had. Excellent I would recommend to anyone. Thankyou
A very pleasant family run hotel in a lovely rural setting just off the A2. My room was in one of the annexes - it was clearly freshly decorated and came with all the facilities I wanted for an overnight stay. Recommended
It has been some years since I last stayed at this hotel. They have upgraded the rooms to a high standard. being disabled, I like the fact that I can park my car right outside the door to my room, on ground level. The dining / breakfast room is superb and there are nice seating areas outside where you can relax, read a book and enjoy a drink. The hotel sits on the site of a wonderful old mansion that sadly was destroyed by fire in 1961. It is also just off the old A2 Roman road and is surrounded by historical sites.
Lovely meal at our wedding venue . Very reasonably priced too and Jill was very pleased to see me with my daughter and my dads partner. We had a lovely evening . We all had the chicken escalope with spaghetti and it was freshly cooked and delicious .
We have just spent 4 nights here and we had a wonderful break. I booked a suite and it was huge! Even had a spa in the conservatory and there was a really nice gift of wine and chocolate in the room. We ate in the restaurant for breakfast and dinner and all the food was excellent. Lots of variety for breakfast - cereal, fresh fruit, yogurts, full English and poached eggs royal, Benedict etc. Great staff, all so friendly and helpful, highly recommend Judds Folly.
Held a cosy post Christmas family party at Judd's Folly and I couldn't speak more highly of the staff and facilities. A genuine welcome and friendly service throughout our afternoon. The bar was well stocked with 3 good ales on tap at reasonable prices and our meals were delicious. Will definitely be going back.
From the warm welcome of the reception staff, to the staff that know us as a family from previous visits and kick off with banterful “oh god not you lot again” (the amazing Gill!) to Jason the owner with his ever friendly welcome and great cooking, we always have a fantastic time whenever we come. We have visited a few times for family events and cannot fault the staff in any way, we've (my other half and myself) as a couple had 3 different rooms in the hotel, they are kept extremely well, very comfortable beds and nice and warm in the winter. Last night the fire was blazing in the bar too, and we enjoyed the company of other guests with many laughs had. The food at dinner and in the morning for breakfast was extremely tasty and my bacon was extremely perfect! Only slight downside was the amount of greenery on my fry up!? Must also give a shout out to Millie behind the bar, who we did our best to run ragged with huge drinks orders but she kept up, kept smiling, and was fully involved with the laughs we had. Always a pleasure to return, and would recommend to anyone, whether staying or not, for the excellent menu.
Eight of us (four couples) arrived on New Years Eve, for their New Year Celebration package. From the start we were impressed by the friendliness and efficiency of the staff. Our rooms were amazing, we had booked the superior rooms, complimentary chocolates and wine included. The evening celebrations were brilliant, good food and excellent, friendly service. We will definitely be going back
Spent a fantastic Christmas break at this lovely hotel. The nicest and friendliest staff you could ever hope to meet. Felt more like staying with a family than at a hotel. They couldn't do enough for us and went out of their way to look after my wife who is vegan and our old labrador who thought he was in heaven with a sausage breakfast each morning. Could not fault the the meals we had or the great service we received. Many of the guests go back year after year and you can certainly see why. It also made it all the more special that such a nice bunch of people were staying there with us. Thanks for a great Christmas.
What can I say we arrived at about 2.30pm on Christmas Eve we went to our rooms which were spacious and stunning we unpacked then had an afternoon tea at 4pm then retired to our rooms to change for a Xmas eve reception party with Buck's Fizz and followed by an amazing 4 course meal we then retired to our rooms about 11.30pm On Christmas Day we had a full buffet breakfast served by our hosts then returning to our rooms to open presents and drink coffee and champagne at 1pm we went downstairs to a 5 course Christmas dinner which was hot and absolutely delicious and had gifts from Santa as well waiting on the table We retired back to our rooms for a nap Then at 7pm we had a cold buffet followed by bingo a quiz which we won a bottle of champagne and then party games hosted by Jason and Chris and Jan we returned to our rooms at 11.30 On Boxing Day we had a full buffet breakfast and then we had the morning/afternoon to ourselves so we went to faversham On returning we dressed for the evening where it was a full carved buffet followed by a disco followed this morning with a full breakfast Amazing staff amazing owners Amazing rooms Amazing fellow party goers
Omg how amazing was this! The place its self is stunning! Beautiful place and amazing scenery. The food was lovely and santa was so magical the kids absolutely loved it! Thank you to everyone involved.
I booked a room here for our anniversary. We are biased as we're married here on a truly , wonderful day in 2018. We didn't get a room this time , we got a whole suite with bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and dining area and living room. It was fabulous. Clean, tidy, warm and comfortable. So spacious and tastefully decorated. We pre-ordered breakfast when we checked in and it was delivered to our room bang on time the following morning. My wife is vegan and coeliac and she loved her full English breakfast. I will always recommend Judd's to anyone I know. We had a lovely chat with the affable owner Jason and his right hand woman Jan when we checked out and it's great to hear the hotel is doing well, in what has been a difficult period for the hospitality industry.
The hotel is unique and eclectic with the warmest of welcoming and friendliest staff. We got married here and every guest complemented the venue, staff, food, service, amenities and beautiful grounds. The wedding & events planner was always full of great cheer and excitement and the hotel owner was full of jubilation and outstanding support throughout planning and during the magical wedding. Thank you to Jason and Carlie from the bottoms of our hearts for making our requests come to fruition. The team as a whole are amazing and looked after us and our guests. Donna, Gill and Christpher welcomed and charmed us whenever they saw us as well as the other staff. Vegetarian meals and dietary requests were no challenge as they were well able to cater delightful veggie burgers, Vegetarian breakfast and not the mention the delicious vegetarian Wellington! We cannot wait to return somewhen in the near future. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
We booked a suite as it was our anniversary, very quickly booked in and shown to our very nice suites d it even had a roll top bath. There is a nice friendly bar with very fair prices and the restaurant was great with a good choice menu , the steak was cooked to perfection , the breakfast menu was the best I've seen i a long time with fresh strawberries amongst the buffet We will definitely return
I just have to write a review to say how wonderful Judd Folly was and gave me a wonderful birthday weekend. We had a small party on the Saturday night food was excellent music good DJ judging what people wanted and not too load. Venue pretty with lots of pretty lights. A few of us stayed and our rooms were clean and very comfortable. Next morning we had a great breakfast. We had a few children with us and we were made to feel very welcome. Staff very friendly. Everyone commended on what a lovely venue and they made my 60th a weekend to remember thanks. I would recommend this venue for functions as well as short stays. Thank you so much.
Revisited here as a family for a Birthday Sunday lunch. We were surprised to find we were the only booking. Staff were friendly and helpful. Service was good and prompt, even though we were the only table we were not overly bothered by staff checking on us, the interaction was good and enough. Food was good - burger was particularly good. Roast was enormous and too much for some. Roast beef was a bit tough but still tasty. Good kids menu too.
Hotel is set in beautiful surroundings and is very tranquil and quiet. Excellent service, rooms are very nice and the stff were very helpful indeed - especially Lisa, nothing was too much trouble for her.
We love coming back to Judds Folly and this was our 5th trip, and it did not disappoint. The rooms are cosy and comfortable, facilities good and the food is excellent. The staff were all really friendly and helpful. It is a good distance from Canterbury and Whitstable, both of which are favourites of ours. We will be back!
We stayed in the room one night , the bed was two singles with a double sheet put over the mattress, could feel the springs , wasn't comfortable atall.. Also kept falling through the gap. In the fridge , was a long dark single hair , shower unit corner cracked, and not been cleaned properly. Plus side > the staff are great , and the chef and waitress at breakfast was very welcome and good morning, and a very nice breakfast (very).
Staff at the hotel were very friendly and always greeted you with a smile. Hotel and room was lovely, clean and well stocked for a relaxing night away. Our evening meal was was delicious and so was our breakfast. We both had a lovely stay and will definitely return.
We stayed here as a large family for a celebration of my late Grandmother's life, which was a an emotional day for the family but made so much easier by such attentive and considerate staff. We are truly grateful for such wonderful service - nothing was too much trouble for any of you which made the day so much easier for us. Thank you!
Thoroughly enjoyed a two night stay here before spending a week in whitstable. An ideal location peaceful and relaxing. Without exception every member off staff was friendly helpful and efficient. Food was delicious tasty and plentiful. It hasn't been the easiest of times lately but this place has risen above .Thank you and well done to you all .
We stayed at Judd's Folly as we wanted to be fairly near Dover for a ferry the next day. What a find ! Having stayed at several hotels in the area, Judd's is undoubtedly the best so far. Set in its own grounds away from the main road it was a nice quiet stay. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff who were all very friendly. We travel with our dog and he was very welcome. Our room was a cottage in the grounds away from the main hotel building. Doggy treat welcome pack was waiting for us. Room was well appointed & super clean & comfy. The hotel set us up with a special table away from the main dining room so that we could have the dog with us rather than leave him alone in the room. Evening meal was delicious as was the breakfast the next day. Our dog really enjoyed the cut up sausage that was brought for him in his own dish for breakfast. I would have no hesitation in staying here again next time we travel
Trip for my Dad and I. Hotel staff really friendly and helpful. Breakfast and dinner very good, lots of choice. Both rooms lovely and comfortable. We used it as a base to explore this area of Kent. Would definitely stay here again.
I first stayed at Judds Folley early September with my wife for a two night stay, The staff are so freindly and helpful that when I had to find accomodation for a work visit I had no hessitation in booking this hotel for myself and collegues. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff and they always find time to fulfill any requests that you have. This hotel is really a gem of a find and I would recommend this to others people who are looking to stay around Faversham.
We had travelled to a large family gathering and needed to be close to Faversham. Excellent place to stay just outside Faversham, comfortable rooms good food helpful service. We would definitely recommend this hotel.
Had a wonderful, relaxed family trip to Judds Folley to celebrate my mum's 80th and aunt's 90th Birthdays with an Afternoon Tea. The beverages kept coming as much as we wished and there was no problem in altering some of the sandwich fillings for the more mature ladies delicate tummies. Lisa looked after us and was a perfect hostess, polite, helpful and attentive to our needs, nothing was a bother or hurried, we actually retired to the lounge as our plans changed as the windy weather scuppered our further plans, and we were served hot drinks as we sat in the comfy furniture. We all agreed on how we had had a wonderful time as we took home our boxes of leftovers which we shared out between us. Thanks again for a lovely day it went especially as we wished to give our mum a lasting memory
Great find in its own parkland setting. Appears to have been an old country house now turned hotel. Rooms were motel looking, able to park right outside your door ! Inside a lovely comfortable king size bed and all the amenities you could want. Great nights quiet sleep. Dinner and breakfast in the restaurant was very good with a good choice on both menus. Staff throughout were very good
Waited 2 years for this! Stayed here with my mum 2 years ago and decided to book her 90th birthday afternoon tea party as it fell in the Saturday of the bank holiday weekend. Paid a deposit at the time which secured the booking. A few weeks before the party, and with Covid restrictions lifted we went and met up with Carlie and finalised the details, the room, the food etc. We hired yew tree lodge for the occasion and it was perfect. Separate from the hotel, we had our own private space. The room was set out beautifully with perfectly laid tables with lovely China for our afternoon tea. Carlie was non hand throughout and with Chris and Donna as our personal waiting staff, the afternoon exceeded our expectations. The food was delicious and well presented, lovely ginger sandwiches, scones with jam & cream and delightful fancy cakes as well as strawberries and cream. Superb value for money and mum had the most wonderful 90th birthday celebrations. A huge thank you to Jason, the owner who took our original booking and for being so accommodating and a fanfare of thanks to Carlie, Chris & Donna. You lovely people made the day so very special. Thank you do much. Would thoroughly recommend Judd's Folly for that special occasion.
Stayed here whilst attending a wedding as guests. The venue is very pleasant and in a quiet setting, not too large. The staff were friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the ceremony had to be held inside because of the weather, but we moved into the restaurant area which was OK. For the sit-down meal, the food wasn't the best, but I think you have to make allowances for mass catering. The accommodation was very pleasant. Comfortable bed, etc. We were on the ground floor and had French doors onto a verandah area and a lovely view. Plenty of car parking. Breakfast had all the options you would expect although you had to be served the cooked breakfast, you couldn't just help yourself. On the whole, it was a lovely wedding, and the everything about the place lent itself to a pleasant experience.
This hotel is convenient, comfortable, clean and convivial. The staff are very accommodating and friendly and did everything they could to make my 93 year old, wheelchair bound mother enjoy a memorable weekend going down memory lane. Abigail in the morning and Megan, the evening were so helpful and their hospitality was second to none. It's an interesting building made into a motel/hotel set in beautiful grounds.
Thank you to all staff for making our annual wedding anniversary stay very relaxing and extremely enjoyable again. Different circumstances from last year due to Covid restrictions and it was delightful to partake in the excellent cuisine especially the home made pate.
Lovely room and comfortable bed, tea and coffee in room along with extra towels, hairdryer, iron and ironing board. Friendly and welcoming staff. Great food, breakfast consisted of continental and full English, hot and cold drinks served to table. Hotel set in picturesque surroundings.
This week I spent three nights at the Judd's Folly Hotel. The facilities have changed considerably for the better since my last stay more than a few years ago. Every member of the staff were so friendly and helpful to me and this made my stay more than pleasant. Thank you so much. My double room was modern, to a high standard, and very clean and I cannot fault the facilities and decor for the budget. The breakfast fare was excellent and far better in choice and quality than some of the more expensive leading hotels where I stay during my working time. I take my hat off to the staff at Judd's, these days times are hard with this pandemic and the folks there certainly put in there best to make your stay a happy one. I will be staying in Faversham more regularly now and sure enough my first choice for a bed for the night will be Judd's Folly. Good fortune to all at Judd's Folly.
Surrounded by the most beautiful Kent countryside, complete with sheep and dragonflies, Judd's Folly provided the perfect setting for my daughter's wedding. Delicious food, lovely spacious rooms, so much character! Everything was perfect, but what really stands out about the venue is the wonderful Judds Folly family. Everyone was so attentive - everyone - and Chris seemed to be everywhere and couldn't do enough for us. It felt like returning to a favourite haunt where we were their favourite customers. Thank you Justin, Jan, Chris and literally everyone on duty who made this the most magical of celebrations xx
This hotel is lovely with its USP being the most friendly staff we have ever met. Great location, comfortable rooms and good food. Definitely recommend. Ample parking. The people working there made our experience fantastic, they couldn't help enough and always had time for a chat.
A great location in its own grounds, so lovely green and peaceful with plenty of parking. There are lots of cottages and separate buildings making up the hotel rooms. Our room was in an older building separate to the main hotel. There was an over powering smell of damp in the entrance corridor to our room. The room was adequately furnished and clean, although the mattress was a cheaper variety and the bed base shabby. The bathroom smelt damp and had no windows or extractor fan. Reception were quick off the mark to replace a faulty showerhead, I suspect the fact that they had a spare immediately to hand suggests it's a common failing. Aside from the smell of damp it was a pleasant stay and represented good value for money.
Stay booked via Best Western website, advertised as the only 2 rooms available - Superior King rooms. First night we ate in the restaurant and to be honest food was really good. We then retired to the hotel bar to watch England play in the finals of the Euros. Bar was understaffed to say the least. No details in bar as to cost of drinks, however in the heat of the situation, opted to add to room bill, much to my dismay later! Breakfasts, expensive for what you get to say the least. Personally didn't like a few items on the full English standard option, but not offered any replacements, therefore effectively expected to pay £15 for 1 sausage, 1 bacon, 1 hash brown, 1 fried egg and a small portion of beans. The same would have cost less than £5 in a cafe. Food was tasty but scarce! Second night, I asked to check costs of the existing room/bar bill and costs of drinks before going into bar again. Was informed of a few costs, one of which was vodka £3.40 per shot and diet coke £0.70. Decided drinks, seemed OK on this basis but opted to double up vodka with single cokes (£3.40 x2 + £0.70 = £7.50 each). Later to be presented with a bar/food bill of over £200 for two nights, with each double vodka and coke being £11, not £7.50 as previously suggested. Last morning we arrived at the restaurant as booked for 9am. We were seated in the mainly empty restaurant in a corner near the entrance. Two mins later, another couple were seated by staff in the same area less than 2m away from us, despite an empty restaurant and current covid guidance. Throughout our breakfast the neighbouring guests continued to leave their seats without face masks and wandered back and forth to the serving counters without being challenged by staff. Furthermore, I noticed some staff in the restaurant with face masks around their chins rather than faces. Disappointed to say the least. Rooms, strange smell apparent in both, possibly damp? Ours in particular (room 9) looking tired in bathroom with laminate flooring starting to separate under foot and light fittings rusting. Also what is the point of fitting a smart TV in a room without giving it an Internet connection? Would have liked to give this feedback at point of checkout, however previously mentioned guest decided to wander into reception with us without face mask so didn't want to stay any longer than necessary. Nice building, nice staff, but could be a lot better. Not what we expected from a Best Western hotel, especially after visiting Derwent Manor in Allensford!!! Would have preferred to give this feedback at point of checkout, however, one of the other guests at breakfast (without facemask again) was also in reception (again unchallenged) at the time so opted to leave ASAP without making a scene.
We booked afternoon tea as a picnic option, for 20 of us, sitting under a lovely tree just at the front of the hotel. Excellent, warm welcoming by the owner Jason. Excellent afternoon tea, lots of it, a shot of a delicious passion fruit cocktail to spice it up. Everything was perfect, so impressed with the quality of the food and the service from JSON. Can't wait to book again and may just stay overnight next time!
What Can I say we had the most magical day . We had a bereavement the night before and the staff were so kind and considerate . Special thanks to Jason carlie snd jill . Such a lovely hotel in stunning scenery in the heart of Kent . Very personal and intimate . The food is amazing and hot and everyone commented how lovely it was .I thoroughly recommend to anyone who is planning a wedding to get married here nothing is too much trouble for Jason and his team .
Fantastic venue and location beautiful food and friendly staff who can't do enough for you . We had our wedding there on Thursday most amazing day . Many thanks to Jason carlie Jill and the team. Can't recommend this venue enough for a wedding an overnight stay a meal or a coffee
This was our 2nd family meal here at the Judds Folly. We were a party of 28 all different ages with all with different taste buds and dietary requirements and once again Jason and his team done us proud. We all had a lovely evening the food was excellent and the staff are all so friendly and hard working and doing a great job in keeping people happy and safe during these covid times. Our room was beautifully decorated and comfortable with everything that we needed and we look forward to returning next year for our wedding. Thank you Jason and your team for another wonderful stay ❤️
Surprised my girls with a Week-End trip away to Judd's Folly Hotel. Booked a lovely suite for them. I was very impressed with my choice for them. They had a lovely time, nothing too much trouble. Staff very helpful and friendly. Food lovely and well presented. The whole experience made their Anniversary great.
Afternoon tea and room only. What a fantastic experience. Thank you so much Jason , Jan, Chris and everyone else. What a beautiful venue. Sheep, and fields forever. The afternoon tea was delightful and the bedroom and extras were great. Wish we had chosen the breakfast as well as it smelt delightful
Well staying at this place is a delight so I just keep returning. A beautiful setting with great grounds and fields of sheep and woods all around. The hotel has had quite a bit of renovation over the last year so whilst you might get the odd sticky door or dodgy wifi signal the staff and owners could not be more accommodating in making your stay as comfortable as it possibly can be. The work to improve the place is ongoing which means that this place gets better each time that you stay. I've rarely stayed anywhere with staff who as are friendly and welcoming as you'd find in the best hotels, but here it's very genuine. Breakfast is a huge spread with options that beat most high bed hotels. I would heartily recommend, especially the Club Double Rooms which come with space, a small outdoor area and a fridge. Just delightful so thanks for making my stays here so comfortable. Highly recommended.
Charming hotel, nice refurb, unique venue, good food and welcoming staff. DOG FRIENDLY TOO!! The hotel has been refurbished and it has made a beautiful difference! From the second we arrived, staff were lovely and made our visit enjoyable. We called and managed to book a table in a side room away from the restaurant as we brought the dogs. Was worth calling in advance for our Sunday lunch. As a group enjoyed the Sunday roast dinner. Was too busy eating to get a picture. Looked beautiful and tasted just great! 1 veggie burger was ordered and really hit the mark. The chocolate orange tart blew their socks off and the crumble was delishious. We had the best time. Asked to see some rooms and each room had its own charm and beautifully cleaned. Look forward to visiting again. Would highly recommend this hotel.
I stumbled across this hotel in 2019, and now when working in Kent I wont stay anywhere else. As a key worker I have really appreciated the work that has gone into making the hotel Covid safe for people like me, thank you. The staff are amazing, the hotel is beautiful, the rooms have every comfort you could need and the beds are big and comfy, the location is so quiet and peaceful and the food is superb. What is really nice now is being able to eat in the restaurant again, which has a really lovely feel to it and with staggered eating times is never crowded. I haven't written a review before about this hotel but felt it was time I did, as they deserve it.
Just back from a couple of nights staying at this hotel. We've had a lovely time, staff were very friendly, welcoming & helpful, especially Lisa and Donna, who are real assets. Room was nice, sufficient for our stay and a good standard, decor was traditional and nice, not quite the Savoy but very clean. The grounds around the hotel are laid out perfectly, and the hotel itself has plenty of space, lots of individual rooms and a well set out lounge and dining space. Talking of dining, the tables were all a nice distance apart, there were plenty of hand gel stations on offer and the food was excellent, breakfast is well made (continental and full English options) and the wider dinner menu was fitting for any and every occasion, Sea Bass in particular was excellent. The hotel is also conveniently located near to Faversham, which is a lovely little town. We enjoyed a nice pre-dinner drink at The Sun Inn (best pub in town), but there are many great drinking options thanks to Shepherd Neame. Overall, we were lucky that it wasn't too busy while we were there so not a ‘people dodging' and staff were not too busy.
Spent 2 nights at the hotel whilst visiting local area. Very impressed with friendly welcome on arrival, felt safe with all covid precautions in place and delighted with our room in The Mews which also had outdoor seating area to enjoy the excellent weather. The room had recently been refurbished and had everything you required. Breakfast was delicious and extremely filling. Selection of cereals, fresh fruits, continental/English breakfast...quite a feast. Evening meal was equally good and reasonably priced. Special mention must be made to all staff who made you feel so welcome. Would definitely recommend a stay at Judd Folly if you are in the area.
Hotel needs completely updating Bathroom wallpaper hanging off, shower takes good 5 minutes to run hot. Bedroom really dated but bed was pretty comfy. It had a really funny smell to room and out in hallway not sure how to explain, but i think my room may have been near kitchen. I think its overpriced £90 a night for a night room only
When the tier 4 news broke and we could no longer go and see family we decided to treat ourselves to a takeaway Christmas dinner. Judd's folly didn't disappoint. Really well organised, lovely food (good portions) and some really nice added touches such as gifts and crackers. Would definitely recommend and will use again in a heartbeat
The Judd's Folly were amazing at creating a Wedding Day we had hoped and planned for, especially under the current restrictions and circumstances. Jason and team pulled out all the stops on our day to make it special, for both ourselves and our guests. I feel that staff went out their way to accommodate us when needed, and nothing was too much of a problem at all. My bridal suite was very spacious, and clean. Perfect to get ready in the morning of the wedding. We just want to thank the hotel for its service, lovely food & hospitality.
Just back from a couple of nights staying at this hotel. We've had a lovely time, every staff member that we came across was friendly, welcoming & so helpful. Nothing was too much trouble, they're a credit to the hotel. We arrived early at 11.30am, thought it was worth asking if it was possible to check in early to which we could (usual time is 3pm), just had to wait 30 minutes. We were offered refreshments & shown to the lovely little lounge area to sit & wait. We had booked a Superior King Room but were upgraded to a Super King Suite on check in. Fabulous amount of space. The decor was a tad tired but everything was very CLEAN which is what matters. We later found out from staff that rooms are slowly being redecorated. It's a nice layout, lots of individual rooms spread about the ‘grounds', most, if not all with their own front door which is quite a plus in the current Covid times, less communal hallways etc. We had paid for breakfast when booking. This was served in the main dining room or you could collect it & take it back to your room. We opted to sit in the dining room. The tables were all a nice distance apart, there were plenty of hand gel stations on offer. Everything was individually wrapped for hygiene. There was plenty of choice, both continental & cooked English. We helped ourselves to the continental but the cooked breakfast was served by the staff & you can freely state how much of everything you'd like on your plate. They currently have a reduced main menu on offer, but still a good variety of choice. We ate there on our first night, the food was lovely, fresh & hot - thoroughly enjoyed it. On the second night we drove 5 minutes into Faversham which is a lovely little town. We enjoyed a nice pre-dinner drink in the sunshine on the cobbled street outside the Bear Inn followed by a nice meal in Ask. We were lucky I suppose that it wasn't too busy while we were there so not a lot of ‘people dodging' was necessary & the staff were not rushed so had time to talk & answer questions etc. The hotel is situated 5 minutes drive from the M2 so easy to get to. There's plenty to see & do in the surrounding area making it an ideal base. We just cannot fault the whole experience. With the lovely staff & eventually all rooms redecorated this hotel will be a hard one to beat. A big thank you to everyone that made our stay so enjoyable, we'll be back again I'm sure!
As the title states. I can confirm, it truly is. I can't fully put into words my gratitude to Janet and the rest of the girls for their Hospitality over the last few days. You are all an absolute credit to the owner. You really can't beat a hotel with such a personal touch. I will have no hesitation in booking here again the next time I'm In Faversham and highly recommend this gem to anyone looking for a hotel in this area. Thank you.
Last weekend we had another lovely two night break at our favourite hotel...Judd's Folly. We have spent a lot of great weekends here over the past year, one of the times was just before lockdown (21-23 March). We had booked various restaurants and all cancelled on us at the last minute! The team looked after us all weekend, bringing our breakfasts, lunches and dinners to our room (abiding by the Covid rules). They couldn't do enough for us and made, what could have been a nightmare, very enjoyable. This time we introduced our closest friends to the experience. Well...Jason, Chris, Jan and the rest of the lovely team didn't disappoint...as our friends were just as enamoured with the place and people as we are! The rooms are always clean and comfortable, the breakfasts are lovely and there's a good choice (fruit, cereal, cooked and pastries). We had a lovely lunch there this time (for the first time) and it was delicious! However, in my opinion, the whole ‘home from home' feel of the hotel makes it. I have stayed in many hotels, and come back to Judd's Folly time after time! We are already looking forward to our next stay, and our friends said they are going to book independently for weekends in the future too! Thank you for all your hard work, it's appreciated and shows.
Started off with being booked into a Family room when we had paid for a superior king room. Was given the excuse that the hotel had a wedding that had been booked a year, was then moved to a superior king room ! Room lovely however the bathroom was filthy - mildew on the walls, a lovely free standing bath that the taps were not fixed properly and leak so you have a dripping sound all night long, a shower curtain that won't go around the bath as the shower head is in the wrong place, the fixing for the shower head is broken so you cut yourself on the sharp screw that protrudes, cobwebs hanging from the ceiling and absolute filth behind the free standing bath (clearly not been cleaned for a long time) and this during a time where the hotel policy is that you must vacate your room for 6 hours if you want it cleaned during your stay (due to covid). Then outside the room (I know its harder to clean an outside area) huge cobwebs that have clearly been there sometime. Will not return !!
We booked this hotel a few days before our short break to Kent having had our trip abroad cancelled. Two adults and a 17 year old. This is a nice hotel on the edge of Faversham and I have to say, what a nice place it is and nothing is too much trouble for the staff. Our room was a family room with a double and single bed. The bathroom was a shower rather than a bath but this is what we prefer anyway. The room was very clean but it should be noted that these are not cleaned during the stay due to Covid. The room had a TV, Wifi and tea making facilities. The breakfast was great - had a full English one day but plenty of other choice also such as cereals, fruit, yoghurt etc. During the five night stay, we also had two evening meals in the hotel which again were very good. Would definately recommend and would stay there again if I was in the area. Keep up the good work Judds Folly.
We stayed at this hotel for two nights when we had a family funeral at the end of august. The room was a family room- lovely and clean and setting really pretty and idyllic. Donna, who worked on reception and in the restaurant was simply brilliant, so helpful and accommodating to myself and my partner and son (arranging for us to have a room we loved, getting us in quick for early dinner, two nights in a row) and my family members checking in later on the second evening after the funeral (sandwiches when the kitchen was closing) and space in the lounge to chat. The burgers in the restaurant were yummy, best I've eaten in a long time and the breakfast each morning had a great selection as well as a fab full English. Value for money and definitely worth a visit!
A lovely, understated hotel with friendly and helpful staff. They clearly have a talented chef and the restaurant is well worth a visit! Good Covid safety compliance in place. Would definitely recommend!
Just returned from a great stay at Judds Folly. The room was ready early and check in was quick. Parked right outside our room which was very helpful. A great deal of thought has gone into covid safety especially in eating areas making meal times enjoyable. Breakfast was superb and a lovely selection on offer. Our room was small for 2 adults and a child and I would have liked a bath too instead of just a shower but it was fine for a short stay. It was a bonus to have French doors leading to ourside area with table and chairs to sit and admire the wonderful view. Check out was easy & quick. Jason, Chris and the team were so helpful and friendly would definitely return
Had a very emjoyable short stay at Judds Folly. Staff are all very welcoming and had plenty of time for their guests - nothing was too much trouble. Covid rules have been dealt with in a very thoughtful way so that the experience felt almost normal. Beautiful surroundings. Rooms were small for two adults and one child, but were ok for a short stay. Must mention the breakfast, was really delicious!
Came for a late booked weekend away and we were impressed by the friendly staff as well as the clean and comfortable room. Has the feel of a family run hotel here they really care about the guests. Would recommend for anyone wanting a break in the Kent countryside
We attended a long and boozy recent Saturdaylunch with family in Faversham and my wife and I and our two rather large Greyhounds needed a room for the night before driving back home the following day. All the town centre hotels have a bad doggy policy but Judd's Folly have a good doggy policy with just a very reasonable £3 per room room supplement. There is a very pleasant casual atmosphere at JF with very personable and helpful staff. This is a very honest hotel. With all the obligatory Covid rules and guidelines everywhere, they really have tried to keep a business as usual feeling to the place but as with everything right now, nothing is normal. I particularly liked the written explanation at reception regarding bar and food times as being "ish". Management, you have our greatest sympathy and you're doing a great job! In the evening we had a couple of drinks sitting in the garden and then a light meal inside as it was getting chilly. Great service with good humour from 'behind the screens' and a first class Club Sandwhich! We had a room on the ground floor (It looks like all the rooms are on the ground floor) with an entrance from its own little decked and fenced patio area which, incidentally, we were able to park right in front of. The room was well decorated and modern as was the bathroom. All facilities included (I think I even saw an iron?). Of note was the most enormous (and very comfortable) bed which the Greyhounds absolutely LOVED. The bed was actually so big that there wasn't a lot of room left for the dogs beds - no matter, that really was our problem and we did manage - much to their disgust at being (eventually) turfed off! The full English was very well executed and enjoyed in the garden and checkout with all the add ons was ridiculously good value for money! Verdict - Would love to return! (perhaps without the hounds).
Another great stay in Ospringe. Second time being in hotel staff brilliant breakfast was great and well situated for my needs. I think I could honestly stay beers on every visit to Faversham. I arrived early after a 4 hour drive and had room cleaned for me so could relax early before going out. Youv3 got my vote thank you 10/10
Took my friend here for her birthday weekend. They should currently not be open due to diminished standards across the board. Check-in took over 15mins, they couldn't find the couple in front of us booking. We were kept outside and then a torrential downpour soaked us. No apologies or thanks for waiting. No welcome at all in fact. Temperature was taken with a digital reader. There were signs all over the hotel regarding Covid and to be kind to their staff due to only 4 staff working at a time. On our way to the room there was heavy rain water coming in via a working light fitting in the hallway. Very dangerous. Room number 35, supposedly a superior twin room. Large room but awkwardly laid out. The room was not clean. After all the Covid warning posters and our temperatures being checked, there were toenails on the carpet and hairs of different colours on the carpet and in the bathroom. It was disgusting. Loo roll holder fell off in my hand and the lights in shower weren't working. The smell from the toilet was vile and the shower unit needed a good cleaning. I felt dirtier coming out of the shower than going in. Everything reported to the management immediately, no apologies. The man merely mentioned that they had nothing but compliments from other guests. My friend suggested they move us to a new room but that was a no. She then suggested that they should at least offer us a drink while our room was being recleaned by a very disgruntled member of staff. He obliged and we received a drink in the bar. The cleanliness of the bar didn't fill us with confidence as the whole time we sat there, there was no wiping down taking place or glasses being removed from the tables. I suggested to my friend at that point that we should leave. She suggested that we should check the room and see how we feel. The room was cleaned although not to a high standard, but the toenails were gone. We were complimented a bottle of wine begrudgingly by the same disgruntled member of staff. I am appalled at the level of cleanliness and of customer service this hotel is offering. They simply should not be open. Smaller, privately run hotels are getting this return to normality right, why can't Judd Folly's? I begrudgingly paid the £143 for the two nights stay. I will never return and I will never recommend this hotel.
Friendly helpful and informative staff, very clean and covid restrictions excellently executed would definitely return and recommend, didn't have food but bar was lovely and outside seating perfect for weather plenty of shade
We stayed one night. Lovely clean room , very comfortable enormous bed. Staff very friendly . Dinner and breakfast fantastic value and beautifully cooked.Lovely surroundings . Staff very friendly and smiley. All cleanliness guidelines strictly adhered to. Go and try it you will not be disappointed !!! Can't wait to go back. Thank you Judds Folley for a fabulous stay. Give yourselves a pat on the back !!!!! We were surprised to find they are giving the 10.00 off food which was an unexpected bonus.
Wonderful staff and lovely rural location. I upgraded to a garden courtyard room which was superb. Perfect base for running/ biking and days out in Whitstable, Broadstairs and Ramsgate. Nothing was too much to trouble. Thank you to Jason and his team for a very relaxing 5 days. Special thanks to lovely Paul for fixing the temporary issue with the shower.
I can't recommend this place enough. Stayed here twice with my boyfriend and I I'll be booking again soon. Great staff and lovely location. Lovely countryside backdrop with sheep to set the scene. Staff who are friendly and cannot do enough. They seem like one big family. Food is really nice and fairly priced. Hotel is nicely decorated.
This is quite a quirky hotel set in a stunning location. The rooms are based around a lovely courtyard and was very clean and comfortable. We were able to park immediately outside our room. The bar area is very comfortable and prices reasonable for hotel. The breakfast was very good and staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I would fully recommend this hotel
First of all I would like to thank the staff at Judd's folly for all the hard work for my now wife's and my wedding. The hotel is spectacular, set in beautiful scenery and so well decorated! From the outset Jason and his team are nothing but helpful and nothing is too small or big! The attention to detail was something spectacular even with a very fussy bride. The food was fantastic from a very good catering team which could cater for even the fussy of people! The rooms are very reasonable priced, fantastic and very comfortable. The staff are so cheerful even after a long day! All I can say is thank you from both of us! Samantha and Darryl
Judds Folly hotel is set far back from the main road in beautiful countryside. The room clean and well appointed and contained the following items. A TV, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, mineral water and biscuits, an iron and ironing board, a heated shower rail and a bible. Sadly the iron wasn't that good. The shower, however, was excellent. The main feature of the room was the king size bed. It was very impressive indeed. The hotel has free, fast wifi and is dog friendly. The staff were absolutely top notch. The included breakfast were delicious and the one evening meal we ate at the hotel was also excellent. The biscuit situation was interesting. We stayed for five nights. On the first and second nights there were Border Biscuits, on the third and fourth nights there were Biscoff biscuits and on the fifth night there were no biscuits. Biscuits aside, however, this is an luxurious and well run hotel and is an excellent place to stay.
A superb family run local *** hotel on the outskirts of Faversham in a rural setting. Affiliated to the Best Western quality brand, the hotel offers both rooms in the old manor and in the more recently built annexes. We have stayed here a number of times despite living only a mile or so away.
Held my Sons and Daughter in Laws wedding here on Thursday. Absolutely perfect. All the staff so attentive and nothing but praise for the food and service. The brides and grooms room was lovely and they could access from the rear. Our room was also great. Only word of caution be aware there are lots of stairs. But there are rooms available without. However our friends had a disabled access room and reported it also was excellent and again staff were so helpful. The reception room looked lovely again they were so helpful. We supplied table decorations which again staff put out. Our numbers were small 40/80 and it worked brilliantly disco supplied by the hotel. Couldn't recommend more. Plan to return for a meal and afternoon tea in the future
We had our wedding here on Friday 14th and what can I say, it was amazing. They made everything look amazing and they took all the stress out of the wedding. My wedding was defently outstanding value, the food was amazing. I couldn't have been happier with the entire wedding and it will defently be a wedding I'll remember. I can't thank Jason, Jan, Gill and everyone else for all they did. All the staff were so friendly and helpful, they all helped towards the day being perfect and running smoothly. All of my guests were saying how great the wedding, food and the rooms were and they'll all be coming back. I'd definitely recommend The Judd's Folly to anyone whether it be for a wedding, a night away or a meal.
My first time at Judos Folly for many years, and it was a great surprise. They have worked very hard to create a lovely atmosphere, the room was clean, spacious and comfortable. The staff were polite and very helpful, and the food was great. Portions may be too big for some . Thoroughly enjoyed the stay here.
A great place to stay! We had a lovely room on the ground floor1 The staff very friendly and breakfast is yummy! The location very good and near the motorway! We will definitely stay there again! Try it!
We attended our friends wedding yesterday & from beginning to end it was all so lovely - my husband is vegetarian & was offered alternatives for anything not suitable, all without any prompting. I would like to mention Simon in particular, who could not have been more attentive, polite & helpful throughout the whole day.
We spent months planning a Surprise Birthday meal and overnight stay for our 80 year old Mum and Judds Folly did not disappoint us. Everything was perfect the food was lovely and the staff Gill and Simon looked after us wonderfully. A big Thank you to you all we all had a wonderful time.
We have just enjoyed a very special Christmas break at Judd's Folly, it has a great atmosphere, the food is of very good quality and choice, the staff are friendly and attentive, nothing was too much trouble, also a great attention to detail, we could not have wished for better. We will definitely return in the spring to see more of the area and return for next Christmas Thank you everybody for a great stay
Good hotel in very pleasant surroundings. All staff helpful. Gill Duty Manager for dinner and breakfast was outstanding. She made everyone feel special nothing was to much trouble for her. A huge thank you for making our visit so enjoyable. Would most definitely recommend the hotel and restaurant. Lynne.
Another fantastic break at Judd's Folly. Jason and Chris and all of the staff are friendly and very helpful. Our fifth year there and already booked in for next Christmas. Dog friendly and made very welcome.
Great Christmas party. The food was lovely especially the pan fried cod. The addition of the photo booth and casino really made it great fun. Great that the drinks were included in the price. The staff were friendly too. Would return again.
Our son will be getting married in the area next year so we visited the wedding venue and as we had also made a block booking at Judd's Folly we booked Sunday lunch there so that we could have a look at the accommodation. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and I think the lady was called Jan who showed us round and opened up several rooms so that we could get a good idea of what was available. Lunch was wonderful and all requests such as extra gravy etc were willingly supplied. There was a lovely friendly feel to the place and it's set in beautiful surroundings. The visit put our minds at rest and we know that we and our guests will be well looked after. Just need good weather in July now!
We got married at the judds folly on the 26th of October, from day 1 almost 2 years ago everyone at this hotel have been great. From helping us plan to the actual day it was brilliant!. My now wife stayed at the hotel the evening before and has a meal which she said was really nice. Nothing was too much trouble, jason and jan really pulled out all the stops to make sure our day ran smoothly. The room was set up beautifully, the food was great and the rest of the team be it at the bar or at breakfast the next morning were so friendly and welcoming. Thank you so much for making our day a special and memorable one! We will be coming back soon for a meal and we look forward to seeing you all again!.
Spent 3 nights here with my elderly mum. We had separate rooms booked, and mum was allocated a ground floor room with a walk in shower and I had a room with a bath as requested. We had a lovely welcome when we checked in, and were shown to our respective rooms that were close to each other. King size beds, well appointed and spotless. We had booked on a dinner, B&B basis, and the food was superb. A great dinner menu, I had the pork belly on the first night, and it was probably one of the best I'd had, not too fatty, and plenty of meat, all with fresh veg. I opted for the liver and bacon the next night, and was not disappointed. Very generous portions, and piping hot. Breakfast had the usual choices, plenty of cereals and fresh fruits, and a very good choice of a cooked breakfast to follow. All the staff were chatty, smiling, and so accommodating, nothing was too much trouble.Sorry, I don't know all the names of the staff, but we thank you all for making us so welcome. I had a couple of maintenance issues with my room in as much as a side table lamp didn't work, and the taps on he bath kept dripping, but both these faults were rectified asap, and there is even a maintenance sheet in the room to fill out if you do discover a problem. There is a lovely bar area and lounge as well as the large dining area. We expressed interest in holding a future function at the hotel, and were shown around by the lovely Chris, who also cooks a mean breakfast by the way! He really looked after us, showing us the facilities, and Jason the owner went through our options and we were so impressed that we booked up there and then for a future family event. The hotel is ideally situated for visiting the Kent countryside, or coast, there is ample parking and the hotel is in stunning grounds. Jason and his team are working hard on further refurbishments to constantly improve the hotel decor but whatever work is going on did not interfere with the day to day running of the hotel and as guests we were not aware of any disruptions and were not inconvenienced in any way. We had a fantastic stay, and plan to return in the spring we enjoyed it so much. I had the last laugh though, mum bought 6 sausages and 6 free range eggs from the hotel when we left, only when I dropped her home, I forgot they were in the boot, so now I've got them! Thank you everyone, you made our stay so memorable, looking forward to seeing you all again soon.
Stayed for one night for wedding in town. Was able to check in early, and even better, the room was ready (had been warned it might not be, which wasn't a problem). Room was comfortable, nice big bed, large TV (yippee), all clean. Plenty of tea and coffee stuff and a bottle of water. Slept well, and breakfast was lovely, the sausages were excellent. Hotel is in a lovely location and the rates seem very reasonable. Would happily stay again.
I stayed here over the weekend with 11 other friends as we were attending a wedding in Faversham, what a wonderful stay we had. The hotel is very near to the town with lovely views and ample parking. When I checked in I was politely greeted by Darcy who was so helpful as there had been a query with my booking, she quickly resolved this and gave me a coffee whilst I waited, I was then shown to my room by the manager who was equally as helpful and kind, the room was very clean, nice comfy bed, great pillows, fantastic shower, great tv, iron, tea & coffee making facilities, I've stayed in many a 4 star hotel that does not give this quality! When we returned from the wedding we bought a drink at a very well stocked bar, lovely staff and although they were closing for the night nothing was too much trouble. I had a very good nights sleep, woke up feeling refreshed! Again love the pillows! We went for breakfast, buffet style with so much to offer from cereal, fruit, lots of different breads, fresh coffee, juices and lovely cooked breakfast, So much choice, love the sausages, for those who are lactose intolerant or gluten intolerant there was a choice. I will definitely go back, friendly staff, lovely rooms and great food, keep up the good work! I'll definitely be back! Thank you x
Forth year running we have stayed at this hotel for the hop festival weekend. The rooms have previously been average but generally in need of refurbishment. This year we were put in Fir Cottage, not the room that had been booked for us. The strong smell of damp was immediately noticeable in the lounge/kitchen area, plus a large stain on the ceiling. There was spilt congealed milk in the fridge plus the remains of nan bread. The bathroom mirror was covered in toothpaste splashes. At various times over the weekend a loud persistent buzzing noise occurred. We believe it was the water heater. It woke us at 6.30am and was still going when we returned from breakfast. I was told there was no other room available for us to move into. Staff were very helpful and the included breakfast was good. On checkout I did raise the issues again and was given a small discount and was advised the owner would contact me. Five days later I am still waiting to hear.
We arrived Saturday for the faversham hop festival and were met by a lovely lady in reception who was very accommodating of our needs and like to thank you. We were in room 21 which was a great little room overlooking the courtyard. Be aware not ideal for people who have restricted movement as 2 flights of narrow stairs to get to the room. That been said I would ask for this room again as it suited our needs. We would definitely return and would like to thank all staff. We only ate in the restaurant once and had chicken tikka masala and lasagna which both were lovely. We did actually declined breakfast as we were told it would cost £14.95 each a little overpriced I think. Easy enough walk into faversham town of around 1.8 miles and only took around 35 minutes ideal for hop festival and we hopefully shall return.
The place is in a quiet location just outside of Faversham, it is ideally located for tours in Kent and for a trip to London, as there is a direct train which takes you to London St. Pancras or Victoria in just over an hour. When you travel off-peak the tickets are very reasonable. The hotel itself is well-kept, only the shower was hard to figure out how it works.
For such a beautiful setting I was disappointed with the room. An un-mopped bathroom floor, a spider and its cobweb in the shower and an unclean basin just made it feel no one had stayed in there or cleaned it in a good while. It was a suite for 2, but only one towel, one water and one pack of biscuits...for the price of the room I didnt expect to have to share a towel. The fan was a nice touch especially when it's been so warm, and the wine was an extra I hadn't expected. But I'd trade that in for a quick clean before we came!
Felt a little dated and run down, but clean and comfortable, with friendly, helpful staff, and good food and a lovely setting (and bed!) Only problem was accessibility for me and my manual wheelchair. I had been assured that the room I booked was accessible, but it patently wasn't, from the step up to it, to the small bathroom that my wheelchair couldn't squeeze into. I managed with help, but it was undignified and difficult, and potentially dangerous. I don't like to complain, but in this case I believe it is justified.
Stayed here overnight. Had a courtyard room next to reception. Ate lunch of sandwiches, salad and crisps on arrival, very nice. Hotel booked us a taxi into faversham. Breakfast was very good value and very good food. Rooms were clean with tea, coffee and water facilities in room. Reasonably comfortable bed but didn't have a brilliant sleep due to an inconsiderate neighbour who left tv on quite loud for most of the night. We would use this hotel again.
We were a family of four staying for two nights whilst attending a family funeral, and Judds Folly turned out to be an ideal choice for the occasion, situated in private grounds on the outskirts of town. The staff were very nice, and very helpful The rooms were clean, and comfortable, although my single bed had a twanging spring when I turned over, which was not a problem. I cannot comment about the food, as we met other family members and friends in town where we ate. All in all, a nice clean hotel in a nice country setting, which was ideal for our purpose.
I stayed at Judd's Folly for a couple of nights with family. I had booked a family room but we were given an entire two bedroom cottage which was a welcome surprise. The rooms were clean and the bed's comfy. The staff were friendly and helpful. They even provided my 5 year old with a quick lunch when we hadn't realised lunch needs to be booked in advance. As a minor point the toiletries provided were very scant for our stay (one toilet roll for 3 people for 2 nights and one tiny tube of shampoo, shower gel etc and no hand soap so we had to use the shampoo to wash our hands!) Luckily we had brought some of our own. We ate one evening meal at the restaurant. My meal was lovely but my son had an inedible steak. They were happy to change it for a different meal but unfortunately he wasn't keen on it so he ended up with very little dinner and it meant we were there for hours. The setting is beautiful. My youngest appreciated the small playground on site and I thought this was a nice touch. Over all though this was a very pleasant place to stay.
It was a one night stay over and all that I expected was a little cleanliness which it didn't have. The bathroom was filthy. House keeping had squirted the blue stuff around the toilet bowl, failing to remove the faeces from the toilet seat and bowl. I'll leave it to your imagination what the shower cubicle was like ! Had laid on top of the bed for a while before going out for dinner so initially thought that's why the bed linen didn't seem fresh when getting into bed later, In hindsight I don't think the bed linen was fresh and don't want to mention that again because it makes me want to scratch. A really nice location. There was a reasonable varied choice for breakfast, it was ok if you don't mind tinned mushrooms, very wet scrambled egg, murdered fried egg and bacon. Was grateful for cereal and yoghurt. Would I use the place again ? Definitely not !
After a fraught journey in torrential rain we arrived at reception only to find they had no evidence of our reservation( Booked with Booking.com ) This was frustrating as we were already late .We were required to wait at Reception for around 15 mins while the receptionist read out a list of guests staying and telling us we were not booked . Maybe GDPR has not reached this establishment. A complimentary drink would have gone some way to easing this while we were waiting. Accommodation suited to our needs was available however . We had booked into a two bed cottage and it was clean ,comfortable and well equipped. The main light in the double bedroom was not working. Spare bulbs were found but sadly this did not resolve this. I was pleased to see a plug socket adjacent to a mirror which is a necessity for most women.Unfortunately the mirror was positioned beside the wardrobe and hence the light was obliterated which is a shame. We had a really comfortable nights sleep with nice bed linen and towels provided were large and fluffy . Breakfast at 20% discount was plentiful and delicious especially the eggs and sausages .
The hotel room that I was allocated (although booking well in advance) was not fit for purpose. It was damp, smelly, in a terrible state of repair eg paint and plaster peeling from walls, dirty, cobwebs throughout. It took me approaching the hotel reception no less than 4 times to achieve a change of room as they proclaimed that they were fully booked. Although trip advisor informed me otherwise!
Stayed at Judd's Folly while visiting family. It's a bit isolated but quiet. Checked in early which wasn't a problem, the reservation seemed to be confused even though I'd received a phone call from the hotel to clarify my booking. Room 30 was pleasant enough, beds very comfy but the large shower head just wasn't suitable for the shower space in my opinion. The tea/coffee tray was in the bottom of the wardrobe. There was a Wedding going on so the bar was very busy but ok. Didn't eat at the hotel so can't comment on food. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
We had a lovely cottage at the back of the hotel it was extremely quiet and peaceful. A great location for accessing Whitstable and Canterbury also. Would definitely stay here again and also highly recommend!
This was an absolute gem of a hotel. Mixture of rooms from traditional to motel style. Rooms very comfortable and the setting is wonderful. We had a mixed party of genders and ages and the staff dealt with every request, no matter how great or small, with humour and prompt action. Can't praise the staff enough for making us feel at home and to some extent, part of the family. Thanks Guys
We stayed at Judd's Folly on the 12th and 13th of May this year. The rooms were comfortable and clean. The staff were fantastic and did everything they could to help us and accommodate us. They were friendly and helped us to find places to visit during our stay. Fantastic. I would recommend this hotel to all. Thank you all from us both. Elaine and Ralph.
Lovely location staff very friendly rooms just been refurbished. The breakfast was really good weather continental or cooked plenty of both and plenty of choices .hotel can cater for private parties and weddings.
We had a wonderful time at Judd's Folly Hotel, Faversham, Kent! Many of us from different parts of the world were here for a 100th Birthday celebration! All the staff, especially Jan, Jason & Chris did their best to see to all our needs and make us feel at home. Cheers to them for all their hard work and attention!
I held my 60th Birthday celebrations on Sunday 12th May. We had a three course Sunday lunch which was wonderful, plentiful and hot, (compliments to the chef) served by attentive staff. The tables looked lovely and everyone commented on how nice a venue it was. The sun shone and it was great that we could step outside from a private bar area to enjoy time with the family. Would highly recommend Judd's Folly for any event and we will be back. Thank you Jan and all the staff for looking after us so well.
I cannot fault the Judd's Folly Hotel for making a family celebration a very special occasion. Staff are very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. I have severe mobility problems, but this was no problem. The food, we had a barbeque, was delicious and plenty enough to go round our hundred plus guests. We returned the following morning to join some of our friends, who had stayed overnight, for breakfast which was amazingly good. A great variety of food and very reasonably priced. Thank you Judd's Folly Hotel for making our evening special and memorable.
After checking in as a group the receptionist asked if we would like a packed lunch rather than a breakfast as we were leaving early the following morning. This was a nice thought which we presumed was an additional curtious gesture by the hotel. Packed lunches were brought out to us 20 minutes later. However on returning back to reception to greet a friend we were told that we weren't on a bed and breakfast rate and had to pay £8.95 this was a bit much for a sandwich, bottle of water, crisp and yogurt, coupled with our surprise as nobody alerted us to the cost before hand. The manager stepped forward in an abrupt manner and realising the mistake made a reduced offer of £5, while my colleagues and I were discussing the offer I had placed 2 bags on the reception however not wanting to wait he snatched them out of my hand and walked away. We were all disgusted at what occurred and handed them all back. later at 10pm we went to discuss the matter and unfortunately were told there was crossed wires and unfortunately that's how it is. we asked if we could speak with the manager/owner to clear the situation up unfortunately we were told he's not here and had left for the night earlier that evening however 10 minutes later he was seen in reception thus we must assume we were miss led by the receptionist. This whole situation was a mistake by the receptionists as friends of ours had paid a lesser amount and were on a bed and breakfast rate and so were offered a packed lunch. Which was also mistakenly given to us by the staff but then in hindsight were asked to pay. The customer service is very poor and below what would be expected in a reasonable situation as this was, mistakes made by the staff were quickly apportioned to us or regarded as crossed wires, there were no crossed wires on our part. Very disappointing! Throughout we were curtious and polite despite the lack of understanding of our situation created by the staff and manager/owner
We got married at Judd's Folly, staff couldn't be more friendly, approachable and helpful! Everything was thought of and we didn't have to lift a finger. Food was perfect - vegan and gluten free guests well catered for, we all had a fantastic time. Those of us that stayed the night thought the breakfast was lovely, fresh and full of great choices. Rooms were generous and clean. Dan and I will be back for our 1st anniversary! (Special thanks to Jason and Jan)
Ideal for a one night stay. All the staff made you very welcome. The restaurant was very quiet. The food was okay but could have been improved with a little effort. Some lemon and tartare sauce with the fish platter and some apple sauce with the roast belly pork would have completed the plate. Bedroom in court yard rooms was very comfortable but the internet was not available in the room.
20 friends went for a pre wedding tea the staff were very attentive and friendly, it's a lovely setting with beautiful gardens and the tea was all you could wish for, pastries, sandwiches, cakes and scones if its just a quiet tea or a special occasion this is well worth a visit.
Nice clean hotel nice size room and lovely location. We stayed in the king room which was big but there is no aircon so in summer could get very hot. If u go out and return after 10pm u have to use a different entrance which is tricky but good staff helped us so would recommend
we would like to thank all the staff at Judd's folly we had this lovely hotel for all our wedding day the service and afterwards from start to finish we had the most perfect day, nothing was to much trouble they helped with everything. I would also like to say the food, service, and the rooms of the hotel were excellent with personnel touches. All of my guests enjoyed the day and evening, saying all the service was brilliant and the guests which stayed over said they loved their rooms and the breakfast in the morning. I would just like to say i would recommend this hotel highly cannot thank them enough you made our day so special thank you Susan and Gary graham.
We choose the hotel as it was close to the location of a friends birthday party, and we were pleasantly surprised, we were warmly greeted and shown to our room. The rooms are lovely and the bathrooms are great! The hotel is in a lovely farm like surroundings and very picturesque.
One night stay after travelling from France, we had an interconnecting room. Arrival- we were quite late due to the ferry but this was no issue as Donna on reception checked us in straight away with no bother, we were shown our room and had a drink in the bar, Gill was very accommodating. Rooms- just lovely, exceptionally clean very well presented and spare toiletries and refreshments. We had an outside room which meant we didn't disturb hotel guests coming in late, gorgeous roll top bath in our room. Breakfast- room was busy but we were still seated straight away, plenty of choice hot, cold and continental. Jason (hotel manager) seated us and nothing was to much bother. Breakfast was lovely. Once checking out of our room we sat in the lounge area and encountered Jan another lovely helpful member of staff. Overall- Very pleasant stay with helpful staff aplenty. We would def stay here again in fact next visit is booked!
A very good friend of mine bought prosecco afternoon for our group of four as a Christmas present and we took up this lovely idea on a Sunday in February. On arrival we were shown to the rear lounge which we had to ourselves and which was all laid out ready for us and we had the whole lounge to ourselves. Our glasses were filled as soon as we sat down and shortly after the tea arrived. The portions were very generous and we had an assortment of finger sandwiches with sausage rolls, quiche and cheese straws followed by scones with cream and jam and numerous small cakes including mini eclairs and macarons. The waitresses came back frequently to see if we needed anything and our tea pot was filled three times. Coffee was also available. We were not rushed at all and I'm sure we stayed much longer than we should have! Would definitely recommend Judd Folly as the afternoon tea was such good value for money and we will certainly be returning.
As I had to be at meetings in town by 9am the 8am start for breakfast was a little rushed. That's not their fault, but would be nice to be told before travel. Painters and decorators in. Dinner was a little slow and veg was cold.
Stayed here for 3 nights to celebrate our birthdays. Hotel itself is comfortable, clean and welcoming.Stayed in one of the outside rooms with parking directly in front of your room which was great. I use a wheelchair and I have never been anywhere where the staff have gone to so much trouble to make sure we were comfortable, even to setting us up our own table . We had afternoon tea for my birthday and I really appreciated the birthday card on the table ,a lovely touch. Food was very good ,everything fresh and very tasty. We ate in the restaurant, afternoon tea and breakfast and all were excellent. All of the staff were exceptional, very helpful, friendly and first class customer service. They consistently went beyond what was expected. Christopher thank you for all the attention we received from you. A first class stay !
Booked via booking.com - arrived minutes later & booked in. Friendly staff. Lovely room (33) much better than expected with a roll top bath in the room plus a double shower in bathroom. Highly recommended as very clean & so reasonably priced.
We stayed at this lovely hotel for 2 nights . Rooms are a good size clean with a lovely bathroom. We had breakfast both morning which was lovely lots of choice . We also had dinner one evening which was fantastic . The staff at the hotel are all really friendly and helpful especially Jan who gave us lots off local information and lizzy who served us in the lovely chilled bar area . Would definitely go back again . Thank you to all the staff at the hotel you made us feel really welcome.
We stayed here for the weekend and had an annex at the back , lovely room and huge comfy bed with unsuite . Dog friendly with small charge for the dogs , bookkeeping direct with a lovely lady on reception and breakfast was very good with lots of choice.
Four day stay over Christmas. The room was quite adequate, good size television, nice en-suite. Good food and plenty of it, helpful staff, a very pleasant stay. Canterbury is only ten miles away, endless restaurants and pubs, the cathedral lots to see and do there.
