Best Western Marina State Beach

This is the best place to stay in the area. The entire staff is from front desk, to breakfast staff to housekeeping is so friendly, caring, honest helpful and accommodating. I would especially like to thank Carmen at the front desk for going over and above with customer service!!!

All staff I came in contact with were very helpful and friendly. I even requested a late check out and was given an extra hour no problem. I will be going back I am certain. The breakfast was very good, and the location cant be beat for the price.

Describing this place as a nightmare is an understatement. The second we got to our room, there was blood on the bedsheets, the shower was broken and the door didn't even lock. I brought up the blood stains to the management, and they very casually relocated us to a new room without being even slightly surprised that there was blood on the sheets. I asked for a refund which they promised to do given how disgusting their room was. However, when I followed up, they said it was prepaid and would not offer a refund. Absolutely avoid this place. Super unsanitary and horrible management

Lady was quite rude for registering a hour early , returned 3 hours later 5:00 pm and room was still not ready , I stay in Best Western hotels across North America and this experience was in my top 5 as not to ever stay again , people are forgetting about customer experiences and service !!!

It was our 2 year wedding anniversary. We decided let go to Monterey! We chose to stay here cause it wasn't to far away and wasn't $1000+ for 1 night. Let's start off with the bathroom, there was hair stuck to the walls of the shower, all over the back of the toilet seat, like they didn't put the lid down to clean it, and hair on the actual seat! Gross. Then there was the AC unit, it overheated, causing it to start smoking and once the smoke stopped it started to blow out steam. It then shut down and displayed a CH34 code rendering it useless for the remainder of the stay. I ended up unplugging it, just to be on the safe side. It was very uncomfortable in the room to sleep even with the windows open. Upon check out I told the front desk, all they said sorry and that they would look into it. Glad we only stayed 1 night! Won't stay here again.

Not worth the price. Not beachfront as was claimed at least a quarter mile walk to ocean, no working ice machine, no working on site laundry machines, room not cleaned. There are other better hotel options nearby choose one of those.

Taking the family to Monterey for a few days, we wanted a place close to the beach, close to the aquarium, including breakfast of some type, and affordable. Well we found it. This Best Western is literally across the street from the ocean. There is a free public parking lot down the street which parks you close to the beach, otherwise you would be walking 600 yards. The Aquarium was an easy 20 minutes away, which was a breeze to get to, never hit traffic or any issues traveling. The distance was far enough not to be spending $800 per night, but still manageable to get around. There is easy access to the freeway as well as all sorts of stores and restaurants within minutes of the hotel. The breakfast options were really good. They served some form of hot breakfast items every day; eggs, sausage, bacon, pancakes, waffles, potatoes, biscuits and gravy, and the usual continental breakfast items in addition, oatmeal, yogurt, toast, bagels, hard boiled eggs, juice options, coffee, tea, etc. The service staff were friendly and made the experience pleasant. The way the building is set on a hillside makes it easy to get to most of the rooms. The floors are faux hardwood linoleum and it doesn't seem like they sweep or mop the floors between guests, my kids feet were pretty dirty after walking around barefoot. Looking at the wheels on the rolling desk chair. they were pretty nasty. Our AC unit wouldn't cool and we just assumed they were all like that, but we noticed as were checking out, other AC units sounded different and were actually putting out cold air. Besides those two things, the stay was great and we would definitely stay there again.

This hotel is a good location for the beach and the freeway to Monterey. The rooms have been modernized and had plenty of space but the bathrooms haven't been modernized and were quite small. It was very clean. It had a fridge and coffee machine with decent coffee. There was plenty of free parking. Unfortunately we was woken up each night by different guests. Obviously not the hotels fault. I just don't understand where people were coming back from at 2am and 4am!!! Breakfast was of a good variety but needs more seating for busy times. The fresh waffles were delicious. All staff we came across were pleasant.

We got there with my family at 10:30pm after a long drive. They said they are fully booked although we had booked through their own website a few days ago and we had a confirmation email. They offered a hotel next door with a room that smelled marijuana. We left that hotel and we had to search for a room online at 11:00pm.

I love the place, very clean and quiet, next to the beach and cheap to go with family or just with couple to spend a nice weekend quiet and relaxed. I will stay in this hotel next time for sure to spend the weekend next to the beach.

The Best Western with competitive rates in Marina is easily found off the freeway. Plenty of parking, friendly staff, nice and clean rooms, and the continental breakfast was perfect. I would stay there again and will do soon.

Nice place to stay close to Monterey without the hassle. Love that it is right by the beach. Marina State Beach is a wonderful place to just sit and watch the ocean or play on the beach. You can walk there from the hotel. Customer service is fantastic at the hotel.

Sleek & modern, room was very spacious. Fridge/micro & in-room coffee. Lots of counter space. Easily accessible bedside outlets. Free wifi w/ample signal strength. Personable young man at check in, Prayash, was perfect combination of friendly & efficient. Slept well on very comfortable bed with lots of fat, fluffy pillows. Standard continental was well tended. Stayed here years ago & was so happy to find it was just as wonderful as I had remembered. Already looking forward to next visit!

Nice hotel with very clean and comfortable rooms. The breakfast was nice with a few more options than usual. Close to the beach and most shopping is just across the freeway. Great value for the area. We will stay there again!

We previously stayed at this Best Western in June 2022 & had a great experience at that time, which is why we chose to return for our visit this time. The room we previously had was downstairs, beautifully remodeled, comfortable & quiet. This time, the area we wanted was blocked due to repaving of the parking lot. We were given an upstairs room, having to go up 2 split-flights, very difficult for us as an older couple. Also, the room was on the opposite side of the hotel, facing the busier parking lot. The room was fine, however, I didn't feel it was as clean as usual (I did Lysol the bathroom & sinks). It was obvious the shower rod had just been repaired, as there were still holes in the sheet rock from where they moved the rod. The sheet rock residue from the repair was still in the bathtub. Yuk! That means the staff did not clean the bathtub. The breakfast buffet left a lot to be desired. The pre-cooked pancakes in the warmer were rock-hard, the coffee from the coffee machine tasted old, like it needed cleaned out, there was no fresh fruit available. I didn't feel like we had that experience 5 months before. I think we'll look to stay elsewhere next time, or at least be sure we get the ground floor room on the opposite side.

Driving from elsewhere after a round at the aquirium came up to this location. It's great, good walking distance to the state park/beach. Overall a bit quiet the complimentary breakfast was great. The price was really reasonable I felt, will stay here again when Convenient. The room was on the outside facing the cars so felt less closed in. The tile floors are good for the sandy children. The staff were friendly but the front desk a bit standoffish.

We stayed here for a wedding that was taking place across the street at the Sanctuary. Location was prefect for that and also nicely located if you want to go to Marina State Beach. Amenities were as expected for this level hotel. Property was clean and cleaning service was prompt and available if you wanted it. The room was huge and modern. Ours could have used a bit more light - only desk lamp, bedside lights and one tall standing lamp in a corner that was very dim so room was not very bright unless you had the curtains up, which is okay if you don't mind all the people walking by. I liked that the windows open up. Breakfast was okay. The usual eggs, potatoes, waffles, oatmeal, cereal and fruit. Pretty typical of this type of hotel that has included buffet breakfast. The breakfast room did get pretty hectic and busy around the 8am-9am hour. I would say they could look after some things a little more, like our bathroom ceiling had all sorts or orange rust looking spots like there was a leak at some point, which could be painted over, but that didn't really have an effect on the overall comfort of the room. Bed was fine for me, a little firm for my partner. Pillows were lumpy so if you are driving and can bring your own, I would. Easy walk to the beach, bit far out of downtown Monterey. If you have a bike though, there is a very pleasant bike path you can pick up and bike into Monterey. Overall I'd say a decent hotel at a good price for the area. Would stay here again if I needed to be in the Marina area.

I stayed here since the Best Western price seemed reasonable compared to Best Western Monterey prices and I was doing activities in both Monterey and Moss Landing. When I returned to the room on the day after the first night, I found that housekeeping had entered the room despite me having posted a "Do not Disturb" doorknob sign on the outside of the door. A few personal items were missing. I assume they thought they were trash. I advised the front desk. Upon checkout, a front desk person said that they have some new staff. Seems that a new person should know what "Do not Disturb," means. The room was comfortable for sleeping. A couple of items seemed to be broken. A floor lamp would not light and a desk chair would not stay up which made using the desk more difficult. On the two mornings I drove to Monterey, the Hwy. 1 traffic was very slow much of the way which added stress to the trip.

Pros: updated room, headboard with multiple outlets and charging ports, spacious room. Cons: shortcuts clearly taken when updating the room, rusty hinges, unsealed door which meant huge cracks that allowed the bright light from outside to shine inside the whole night, questionable clientele, bathtub drain was incredibly gross and needed a really good cleaning. Honestly, we did feel a little unsafe based on the questionable people just hanging out around the hotel at night. Nothing ever happened, but those “what if” thoughts were still there. Overall if you're looking for a basic, budget friendly, low maintenance room close to the beach, this would be an okay place. We will not be returning only because there are other hotels closer to Monterey within the same price range that meet our desired needs.

My family and I enjoyed 4 nights at this hotel. The room was simple but nice. The breakfast was decent. The location is walking distance from Marina State Beach so my son was fine that there was no pool. Our overall stay was great.

We stayed here for a quick trip to Monterey for a show. The bathroom had some issues (mold starting in the shower, needs to be finished painting). The metal rods/storage were starting to rust. Found Cheetos under one of the beds from a previous stay. But overall a cute place for a quick stay. Don't think it is worth the $300, but it was in our budget.

This was my first BW stay in quite some time. I must say that the hotel chain has come a long way. I was pleasantly surprised. The rooms were clean. Wi-Fi worked great. Beds were very comfortable. Most importantly, the staff was amazing. Specifically, Ron at the front desk. He went over and above to make sure my stay was not only satisfactory but really enjoyable. Great recommendations, hospitality and professionalism.

For a Saturday night hotel stay near the beach, it was an excellent price, under $300 Inc taxes. The breakfast was a typical free buffet. Not many options for diabetics though, only eggs. Our rooms tub had a Crack in it. The room overall was standard, clean. No wow factor. We stayed on the outside overlooking the RV park. Our neighbors were noisy and walls thin so you can hear people showering and talking as if they were right outside your door. Next time I would ask to be inside the courtyard. Bring some white noise to drown out the noises. Beds were kinda hard for me bit not intolerable

The staff was great, the room was comfortable and the location was right next to the beach. Overall we had a few hiccups with our stay which were addressed immediately. We would stay here again in the future and suggest this hotel to friends and family.

There was no hot water and there was an obvious plumbing issue as there was a rhythmic pounding in the walls of the bathroom all night. Called the desk and they said they would come up, never did. Didnt get any sleep but it at least felt safe.

Tried to dry a blanket we had washed partially in the sink and the dryers are both broke down we got our money back thank goodness but the office is closed at 7:30 p.m. I wanted to get a hot tea no dice. Next door is another hotel that houses homeless druggies. Apparently they come over here and do their laundry while it looks like it the laundry room is a filthy mess doesn't look like it's been cleaned in forever and both dryers are broke. It is a good location I won't be staying again. When you first pull up it's very intimidating to see an armed guard wandering the parking lot along with sketchy people. Lock your car hide your valuables

Pros: The location is great, walking distance to the beach. The rooms are just ok, hardwood floors are a plus so you don't have to walk on dirty carpets. Bathrooms are aged need a little work, otherwise the rooms have a mini refrigerator and microwave, coffee maker. . Nice sitting area near the lobby with gas fire pit. Breakfast is limited to quantities, Instant scrambled eggs, bacon, waffled maker, cereal , fruit, juices, coffee, good enough if you need something fast. Bottom line, I would stay here again knowing what I had experienced. Cons: The hotel is adjacent to another hotel that houses a lot of homeless and pretty shady people, they utilize the laundry facilities at this hotel all day and into the night. Stay on opposite side or interior rooms if you don't want to see them. Manager and front desk is aware, not sure if it is important enough to be an issue for them. Definitely lock your vehicle and remove valuables.

The bed sheets were like reused not properly cleaned and tucked, the toilet doors were hard to lock and was uncomfortable. Its was too expensive for the price i paid it felt like i was in a cheap motel.

Way over priced for the level of service you get. Rooms are not well taken care of. Lights are broken, AC units hardly work. No view whatsoever. I paid 300/night for a queen bed and a view of the RV trailer park next door. Disappointed. Go to the renovated Motel 6 down the street. Damn distance to beach but cheaper and newer beds. Also, no staff at front office (or no one answers the phone/door) after Midnight until about 11 AM.

Beautiful landscaping, very clean. Extremely friendly staff from the girl at front desk check in to very friendly older man wife and young girl housekeeping staff have been nothing but hospitable kind helpful and accommodating dining area is very beautiful nice ambiance very big variety of snacks for breakfast feels clean well stocked and private nobody gawks at you while your dining. Private nicely done homey feel rooms ate very nice clean and modern well maintained .our house burned down that's why we're here they made a horrible house fire into a pleasant stay at the best western dunes .thanks room 144 fro all of us.

This Best Western is situated in a convenient location. It's within walking distance to the Marina State Beach and is around a 12 minute drive to Elkhorn Slough/Moss Landing. The room was clean with a comfortable bed; included was a small fridge and microwave. Wifi was good. The price was very reasonable for the location and we would stay here again.

This hotel was so dirty and had several broken amenities (shower, bathroom light, heater). What is worse is how rude the staff were when we notified them of the broken room features. At the end, they overcharged us for our stay and argued they were correct when I had a confirmation email to prove they had overcharged me. Simply put…do not stay here…ever!

We loved our stay here. For the price we had a great beach vacation. Staff were excellent, both breakfast staff and room attendants. Free breakfast appreciated. Parking ample, walk to beach. Quiet rooms even though right off the highway.

Very nice place to stay for a week when come into town for work the location is perfect the beach is less then mile away walking distance so restaurants to eat and even the Walmart must-try if you're out here for a business trip

EVERYPLACE in Monterey raises rates for holidays and events. Expect to pay several times more than during weekdays and off season. When I arrived our room had not been fully serviced. There was a used coffee filter left in the coffee maker and the coffee supplies had not been fully replaced. I was pleasantly surprised that our room was cleaned during the day while we were recreating in Monterey. Many places limit the days rooms are serviced during a stay because of staffing shortages, but our room was made up while we were registered.

Rooms were dirty and smelly. Guests next door were loud til 3am, made a noise complaint to front desk and nothing was done. Remote control wasn't working and breakfast was just water and a granola bar! Never, never again!

I would definitely stay here again my girlfriend and I really enjoyed our stay. The room was real clean and the bed was pretty cozy. We also liked the location of the hotel because we were able to walk down to the beach.

If you think that this facility is going to be on the beach, think again. The ocean is a LONG walk away and is not visible or heard from the hotel. We were quite surprised to find that the laundry facilities were commandeered by the migrant workers staying in the adjacent property and unavailable for our use. The finish work in the room was substandard and poorly done including an unsightly gouge/burn in the fiberglass bathtub.

Everything was very clean and in working order, from bathroom to TV. Wifi is super fast, faster than our home wifi. We encounter no problem at all and the location was excellent away from Monterey and near walking distance to Marina State beach.

Recently renovated with hardwood floors, new furniture, new curtains, microwave, mini fridge, coffee maker, hair dryer, clothes iron, large bath tub. Our king size room had a pull out bed in the couch. Light strips under the platform bed the lite the room at night and a very big TV, full length mirror, lite up make up mirror and granite counters. Breakfast room for a great selection of (covid safe) take and eat packed foods. The breakfast area was very clean and organized. We were just 8 miles from Monterey Bay Aquarium & Dennis The Menace Park. Within 1/2 a mile, we found a Wal-Mart, Denny's and a Starbucks that we needed. As a single parent I felt very safe here and will return.

Needs work, Toilet paper holder about ready to fall off, Phone not functional(wires hanging out of the wall), Sink barely drains, Low water pressure, Gap all around the door to outside, the AC/Heating unit was loose with a gap to outside all around it. It's a place to sleep but even that was rough, felt like I was laying on raw springs. Live and learn.

O stars!! Rude and unfriendly staff. There are 14 things wrong with our room and that doesn't include the crappy breakfast and bad coffee!! Sink wont drain, fridge not cold enough, bathroom fan broken, broken chair, no outlet cover on wall plug, TV keeps losing the signal, tub stopper rusty and leaks (that means, no bath!) and I could continue!! They offered to let us move to another run down room for the next 2 nights, but why bother? Do not stay here!!!!

The room that I was assigned had a door to the next room and the guest that stayed the night in the next room were talking all night till 3 in the morning which didn't let me and partner sleep. next time i stay at a Best Western I will ask for a room with no other door.

We were in town recently for the weekend. Stayed at this property. Extremely good value for the money. The property was clean, well-maintained and the service was excellent. We checked out one day early because of a schedule change and they were very accommodating. Short walk to the beach. Everything you need is within a five minute drive. If you're looking for a place close to the beach that is a good value this is the spot

No one at reception area when I went to check in and out, had to wait. Room was ok, spacious, but couch was just thrown in there and not facing the TV, bathroom smelled musty. CC machine declined my company CC, but my card was fine at the next 2 places I used it. Nothing wrong with my CC. Air conditioner was leaking water onto the laminate floor, I didn't notice it and slipped, tweaked my back. Remote did not work, had to get a new one. Breakfast was a bagged muffin and frozen burritos, simply unacceptable for people that rely on hotel breakfast when they are traveling for work purposes. This is a great location, about 100 yards from the beach.

We booked a week here while seeing family in the area for a medical crisis. It looked so good on the website and the locations is ideal. THE END. This truly is the last straw, to be woken a few minutes before 4 AM by the horrible screech of the smoke alarm, not for smoke but because the batteries need changing! The Front Desk informs me he will send someone in the morning. WE ARE EXPECTED TO SLEEP WITH THIS UNBEARABLE NOISE??? This is the last of a series of unacceptable property maintenance and customer care issues, and I have notified corporate of these omissions which have lost Best Western a long time customer. 1: when we arrived, it was clear the floor had not been cleaned after the last guest, because a drop of water wiped up produced a cloth BLACK with soil. 2: there is no closet, no hanging rod for clothing, and one hook-- on the back of the bathroom door. 3. The desk chair is broken, as the seat height cannot stay up, putting the desk surface at chin height. A maintenance man brought a replacement. It had the same broken feature. "They all do, I don't know why" he explained. 4: As of right now, we have stayed here 4 nights. I requested yesterday that our bedding be changed and towels, cups, glasses, toilet paper and wastebasket liners be replaced as we had no more. When we returned from seeing seriously ill family members tonight, clean sheets and towels were piled in a chair near the door, nothing had been done or cleaned in the room. Best Western, this property has cost you a loyal customer. Travelers: there is a Country Inn right next door, and I am heading over there now to see if they have a room for the rest of our stay.

My husband works in the area and we have stayed here a total of 2 months on and off. The staff has went above and beyond to make sure our stay is a good one. Its 5 min from Marina State Beach and 5 min from walmart. Beds are comfortable and we get a good night sleep, and the wi fi is always working never slow.

Clean room, quiet, near beach, nothing fancy but very adequate. Fun walk to beach from up at the end of the road. Because of Covid breakfast was just carry out food taken back to room but it was sufficient. Good choice for a reasonable price.

We had to change rooms the first day and cancelled our stay for the second day. Super thin walls made for a noisy stay. The designated smoking area was on the first floor so our non-smoking room, also on the same level, smelled like smoke as the day progressed.

A Wonderful location to the very beautiful state beach! Short drive to Monterey. Very helpful staff. Beds are okay. Not the most comfortable sleep, not the worst, nice pillows though. Floor was pretty dirty around the base of the beds. The grab and go breakfast was so nice had a choice of apple or orange, sweet rolls varieties, granola bars and yogurt, they even have cereal, grab some coffee or a tea and take a short walk to the beach and watch the sunrise. A nice stay.

Extremely clean, easy to get to Hwy 1 and various places of interest. Beach is gorgeous and only a few steps away! Perfect for business, family, or just to get away. Incredible price and you certainly get the best deal.

The hotel was really nice looking on the outside, the room was nice and the area was perfect. I loved having such quick access to the beach and Walmart was less then 5 minutes away. Only thing for me was the bed was to hard. The rest of my family didn't mind but I didn't like how hard it was.

Clean and updated room. Entire building under construction, roofing tile fragments all over the place, loud noise during the day. Multiple maintenance problems. No working phone (walk to the hotel desk for every issue or request), no tv channels available but local news KSBW and Telemundo, smoke detector triggered every hour at night. No maintenance onsite during the weekends to resolve all of the above. Manager was not onsite either during the whole weekend. Good luck

The hotel had renovated rooms with good looking interior and room size that met our needs. Along with great service and clean room, the location is excellent near the Beach, reachable by walk in less than 5 minutes. I'd recommend to stay here if you're visiting Marina or near attractions!

Beds are uncomfortable. Close distance to beach. Lots of outdoor noise but may have just been due to the people that stayed the same time we were there. Breakfast was disappointing for the kids as minimal choices due to covid.

I stayed here for 21 nights on business. It's located just across the street from the Marina State beach. The rooms are big and the couch folds out into a bonus bed. Beds are large and comfy. Front desk staff is very nice and helpful. Grab and Go breakfast is average but reliable and open on time at 6am every day.

The hotel was full. Was a bit apprehensive as a few guys outside were talking loudly and smoking and it was already close to 10 p.m. However, they calmed down soon, and no one bothered me. The common areas were a little bit on the dirty side, but the room was clean. However, light switches by the beds didn't work. The internet was good, the front desk helpful when I needed to have something printed out. The breakfast buffet was all sweets, buns and cereal. They didn't even have the original quick oatmeal with the least amount sugar in them when asked, so I skipped it altogether.

Stayed here before. Rooms were updated since the last time and very nice. Location is awesome. Best value for your money in and around Monterey. Within driving distance to great restaurants and other venues.

Firstly, it was nice that they let us check in an hour early, as it turned out the beach was windy and a little cold to stay for too long. But, then when we went in to check in, the front desk clerk was really rude and demanded that I show my ID, even though my mother was paying and had her ID. This meant after a long car ride, as a physically disabled person, I had to go back to my car and get it. I was annoyed. Then, the hotel is under some construction, so there was hammering several hours that afternoon, but we knew that going in, so. Biggest issue was that there were only two actually accessible handicapped spaces that a wheelchair could use to get to a room. The other spaces were all the way around the entire hotel or at the bottom of a set of stairs??? Beyond inconvenient, since we had a disabled room and I am disabled, though not in a wheelchair. The food was acceptable, though not great, partially due to COVID restrictions. But you'd think they might make an effort to extend their continental choices because the full part was not available. But they didn't, had no toast available, only packaged pastries and hard-boiled eggs and yogurt cups with apples or oranges already bagged. And same two cereal choices as if adding to a full breakfast. And I was not offered any sort of instant or non-contact checkout. I suppose I could have just left.

Had a little bumpy start at check-in- staff confusion over my reservation for two nights which included a free voucher night since I'm a rewards member. The clerk was going to have me check in twice during my stay but fortunately his coworker sorted things out for us. Then we were assigned a ground floor right across from some courtyard construction. We left for lunch and when we returned the construction workers and noise were gone. The room was newly renovated and clean. We had a large TV. The room also included a fridge and microwave. We've stayed here before and I don't recall having a microwave. The staff were good with the extra safety measures due to the pandemic. There was grab and go breakfast which was nice. We enjoyed the pastries, juice, and coffee. What we really like about this motel is it's location. It's across the street from Marina State Beach. It's a nice quiet and clean beach frequented by families. I would stay here again. Monterey and Carmel are just a few minutes drive away. We visited during the busy 4th of July weekend. It was nice to stay in a quieter location away from the hustle and bustle of the more touristy towns.

My room was newly renovated so it was very modern and clean. The huge flat screen TV was nice as was the thermostat controlled room. The contractors did not start work on the hotel until after 8am. The parking was awful...as maybe those spaces were used for construction purposes. I had to park either on the street or at the next door hotel. Apparently the owners own both hotels. Staff was courteous. I also liked the location as it was easy on/off hwy 101.

Good walking distance to the beach for relaxation after work .............. I will say good for families to visit this area away from the city, it seems is a quite peaceful area .......... also walking trails on the sand that you can walk at night

Great location and nice rooms, but both vending machines were out of order, the water was turned off (for about an hour) with no warning/notice, and the breakfast was non-existent – there were "grab&go" paper bags with only an apple in them. The biggest problem, though, is the lack of sound insulation in the rooms.

My room was spacious and clean. The big bath tub was a huge bonus plus the huge king size bed was great to stretch out on and watch the big 55" flat screen TV. Another bonus is if you wanted to listen to music and forgot your speaker you could hook into the alarm/radio.

I was greeted with a sincere smile and checked in speedy. The customer service was helpful and friendly. Maintenance brought me a refeigerator at my request immediately; which was appreciated. The room was clean and because i own a maid service this stood out the most to me. The property had a nice play yard for children; which appeared safe and clean. Landscaping of property was well groomed. An all well put together hotel for my vacation.

No micro or fridge, room smelled like cigarettes, spa was not working, could hear freeway from our room very loud, they remodeled the lobby but definitely not the rooms, ac unit is very loud and hard to sleep at night, would not recommend

Lots of problems with this property . One of our group members was charged $14,000 on their credit card as the office misread the reservation. They were charged for 4 months rather than 2 nights. Another group member woke to the sound of a man's voice in the room at 2 am. Fortunately it was only a walkie talkie maintenance had dropped under the bed. No hot breakfast as advertised. No refrigerator in room. Desk clerk informed us that two month renovation was in its third month with no end in sight. There are lots of good lodging choices in the area. I would encourage you to use them. We moved to the Motel 6 for our final night in the area. It was just as nice and much cheaper.

The lobby was closed for repair so I had to check in outside through a window. The staff didn't tell me how to get to my room so I guessed. I also was freezing so I was trying to get inside ASAP. They gave us the wrong room (booked a king and got 2 queens). The heater was broken, but my husband was able do get it working. And when I went to take a shower that night, the handle broke right off. When I reported it the next day, the staff only apologized and said they would fix it. That won't help me since I'm checking out!! I love Best Westerns, but this one needs more than just a physical make over.

Great place to stay. Room was big and had a big TV. Staff was great and lot of items offered for breakfast. The wind picked up and was wild. It died off at night but it got chilly. Visited Monterey which was about 5 minutes out.

Went to visit my friends over the weekend in Monterey, this hotel was very price attractive. Very close to the beach. I went fishing and had a good time with the buddies. Will be back in the next few months in the summer.

We checked in on New Year's eve for a 2 day stay but had to leave after only 1 night. Upon check in, the room wreaked of urine & some solvent to cover it up. The remote was difficult to use because the buttons would not register when you pushed on them. Late into the night, we heard the kids above running around. This started again the following morning at 5:40. Breakfast was in an area under renovation so it was small and confined. The food was cold and running low. The overall area was messy with food spilled on the floor and counters. After breakfast, I showered. The water never got hotter than warm. The pressure was horrible. After showering, we realized the hair dryer didn't work. I contacted the front office twice to let them know. We had a reservation and had to leave soon but no one ever came to fix it. We finally left, checking out 1 day earlier than planned. I had to dry my hair using the heater in our vehicle. Upon returning home, I called the hotel to speak with management out the issues we had. That was 3 days ago and no one has called me back. This was a HORRIBLE stay and I would not recommend staying here or at a Best Western ever. Because management could not even return a phone call, I will be cancelling our membership.

I really like this Inn, the location, room, breakfast and the people. Right now it's under construction for I believe the breakfast area or maybe the enlargement of the lobby. I like the room door facing the parking lot for the entrance to the rooms so that I can check on my car every now and then. Upon our stay for one night, I had a misunderstanding on the room number I had requested but I settled for another room on the same side (right side of hotel is the best for me) and it worked out just fine. The room was clean,quiet and a good night sleep. The breakfast in the morning was good but crowded at 8:30 am. I would go earlier. Too cold for the hot tub but I don't think it was open. . .

Never again at this hotel. very responsive in the rooms. the water pipe sounded all night. the breakfast was the worst ever. not even the usual standard. small and cramped dining room, and the coffee was constantly running out. (no wonder in itself when some guests filled their thermos with coffee). the location was quite close to monterey's attractions, about 20 min by car. the very place where you live has a boring environment with ongoing construction.

Took a trip to Monterey, stayed at this location. Room was big and staff was nice. Everyone went out of their way to make me feel welcomed. Beach is near by and we can walk there. It was raining and windy but got better in the afternoon.

Hotel was very close to the beach, we walked the trail to the water, should have brought my fishing pole. Breakfast was good they had waffles, eggs, and juices. Room was big with big tv even, we spent the day out.

Went to Monterey for the weekend and chose this hotel to stay. They are doing renovation in the lobby however the breakfast was open and everyone was really friendly. Its very close to the beach and rooms are huge and big TV.

Stayed here, pretty close to the beach. We ended up walking the trail as the front desk suggested. It was sunny but a little windy, outerwear is recommended. Beach was nice and clean. We enjoyed our walk.

Stayed at this hotel, very close to the beach without the cost of Monterey Hotel. Got a nice tan while the sun was out but the water was cold so I didn't go swimming. Enjoyed the breakfast spread and the juices.

We stayed in Marina while visiting family. Hotel was clean and people were friendly. It was pretty close to the beach. We walked over there and had a picnic. Cheaper to stay here then in Monterey and get the beach experience

We went our to Monterey for the weekend. Stayed in Marina. The room was huge and people were friendly, they had hot breakfast, eggs, meat, breads, fruit. It was cold and rainy but we made it to the beach which was walkable.

Old property adjacent to Highway 1, thin walls, lots of noise. Clean enough inside, but everything is worn out, bathroom is tiny. Everything is adequate only. Don't really get the excellent reviews, except for the low price. If you arrive late night (11:30 pm) you check in through a tiny window on the outside of the lobby.

Where do you start? First, it appears I was double charged (1 time from Hotels.com and 1 by BW). No microwave in the room. The little refrigerator was turned off yet they did not let me know to turn it on for my food. I went a whole day without my food being refrigerated. The two days in a row of continuous wall banging and bed noises. This then led me to watching tv loud to drown out the X rated sounds. This tv usage then lead to our neighbors pretend coughing and messing with the combined room door knob. They did have some warm food if your willing to eat biscuits and gravy and/or scrambled eggs. They also had many high carb options such as cereal, bagels, muffins and waffles. Apples, oranges and bananas were the only healthy options I saw. Coffee and juices where available too. Bring that I have stayed at many of the hotels in the area, I probably won't be returning. Especially since the place next to them is less expensive and just as appealing or not. The breakfast next door is mostly carbs.

We stayed for 1 night as a quick stopover on a road trip and the accommodations were as expected. Simple and clean enough and a decent breakfast in the morning. The breakfast room was packed around 8:00am and we had to sit off to the side in the hallway. If available, they may want to look into expanding the dining area. Folks should know that the highway is very close and you'll be able to hear it all night. If you are a light sleeper you may need earplugs. There isn't anything walking distance (restaurants/shops) which didn't bother us for a quick overnight, but if you are planning to stay for several nights you may want to look into another option closer to town. There is a beach in close walking distance which was beautiful and serene and populated with some local fisherman during the quiet morning hours. Would recommend for a good value for a quick stay.

Our family and I decided to have a beautiful weekend at Marina, California. It was actually my birthday weekend. We had a wonderful experience at BestWestern hotel in Marina, CA. First, the receptionist met us and had our keys ready. We went into the room and found it very roomy for the 4 of us. Then, at breakfast, they had my favorite biscuits and gravy which many hotels don't do anymore. Therefore, overall our stay became one of the most beautiful and delicious weekends of our lives. Thank you BestWestern Hotel in Marina, CA....

My wife and I stayed here for four nights as evacuees of the Kincade fire. Upon arrival, Vivian the desk manager allowed us to check in early and she switched us from two queen beds to one king bed. We found that all of the staff were friendly and professional. This property is aging and in need of a remodel, but, it is clean with large rooms. Our room had a new LCD tv and they were upgrading the door locks during our stay. The breakfast included hot items, coffee, tea, juice and the usual carbs you might find in a hotel of this type. The location is in Marina, which is literally ten minutes from Monterey. It is also just around the corner from Marina State Beach. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend this hotel to others.

This place needs work. The beds are uncomfortable, leaky faucet that made drip sounds all night, noisy old radio that we had to unplug, practically no TV stations. We had to move from the first room because of ant all over the bathroom sink and tub.

1 Block from Marina state beach. You can either walk or drive the short distance. This motel is just off Highway 1. We stay here because it is quiet and close to things we like to do from Moss Landing to Carmel.

This was my third stay at this hotel. The location is great. I love that it is a easy walk to the beach. The price is all ways significantly lower than in Monterey and Pacific grove but it's just movies away which makes it a great deal! I have two children under 5 years old so cleanliness is a big deal to me in a hotel. This one is all ways clean!!! The hot breakfast is good with eggs, waffles, potatoes, sausage and a assortment of other things. This last visit the hot tub was closed which was disappointing, hopefully they will fix it before I come back. I think my only complaint about this hotel is the coffee or lack of a decent cup of coffee.... It's all just awful the machine in the breakfast room makes extremely watered down coffee, and the in room coffee provided for the small coffee maker is gross. Thankfully there is Starbucks a close drive away!

This was perfect for location to beach and price we paid in the Monterey area. Only 8 to 10 miles to other sites to see surrounding this quiet little coastal city and close to shopping and many local inexpensive restaurants. Breakfast was adequate and gives good choices for a full breakfast. The only disappointment was not getting maid service during the entire stay. We had to go to the front desk and complain to get fresh towels to shower. It was too late to make the beds as we were tired and needed to go to bed when we discovered the beds were as we left them that morning. It would have been nice to have the trash dumped and cups and coffee replaced! For the price we paid, it was still a deal.

Went here over the weekend and ended up leaving early because it was so noisy in every direction. Left the same day we got there. the rooms were pretty old, our tv was barely hanging on, there was a hole in the wall in the bathroom.. On the bright side.. the staff during check in was great! so nice.. and the location was very nice

Excellent location, quiet and one block from the beach. Our room was clean and comfortable. We liked everything about our stay. Close to town but separated by Highway 1 it had a nice secluded atmosphere.

This hotel is being kept alive by its location alone. If you want to sleep in alongside the beach for under $200, this is about your only option. And we did thoroughly enjoy our walk to the beach every morning. If we go back, it will be with much lower expectations. We stayed three night in Aug 2019 and found the following. Cons: slow internet, slower housekeeping staff, hard beds, lumpy pillows, out of order hot tub, powered eggs at breakfast, less than one minute of hot water in shower. Oh, and the keys regularly demagnetized, which is a common problem according to the front desk staff. Pros: beachside, non-suburban location, good A/C and heat, very clean, big TV, waffles at breakfast.

I arrived late for a business trip. Check in was easy and went right to bed. I woke up covered in bug bites! I didn't know if they were bed bugs or fleas from a pet. But there is a no pet policy so... The bath tub looked like it had a bad patch job which was painted over. The tub was dirty and a spider had camped out in the tub. The hot water took a long time to reach the faucet. I mentioned the bug bites and I assume they switched out thw sheets and mattress because there were no more bug bites. But the damage was done. Painful and itching bites on my face, neck, chest and legs. I'm never staying there again nor would I recommend it to anyone!

We were a little frustrated upon check in that the jacuzzi was broken. After a 7 hour drive on day 12 of our roadtrip, we were really looking forward to the jacuzzi. We figured we could at least go up to the room and take a bath. However there was a hole in the tub, so that wasn't an option. We asked to change to another room, but the hotel was full. They offered to put us in the hotel next door, but they only had a room with one bed and we needed two. Since it was after 9 pm and everything else nearby was booked, we had no choice but to stay. Upon further inspection of the room, we found that there were socks and crackers under the beds, making us wonder whether the room had been cleaned at all. The desk clerk was very apologetic and ultimately comped the room, but it was still a very unpleasant experience.

So we showed up around 8pm to check in. It went very smooth. When we drove to our room and opened the hotel door the room was a mess and the tv was blaring. It was like someone was already in there. Very disturbing! I went back to the office and the desk clerk was upset by this. He said he has it marked as clean. This sets the ton for my 2 day stay. He had 1 room left and he gave it to us. The room was good enough for the two nights. The bed was comfortable and the shower was nice. If you want to use the hot tub it doesn't work.

We stayed 2 nights to hike in the parks nearby. It is convenient off Hwy 1, well maintained, & the employees are hospitable. The rates are comparable or better than other hotels in Monterey or Carmel, or the outlining areas. Breakfast is delicious & varied. Sunsets are one block away on a beautiful beach to walk off dinner! This is our go-to place for the Peninsula now.

I already love Best Westerns. I love how they have a legit breakfast. And having this one right next to the beach and sand dunes made it that much more amazing. They're always pretty cheap no matter where u stay and this one was very reasonable considering it's right next to the ocean. It's basically like your own private beach..not very busy at all. I definitely want to stay here again sometime!!

We liked this hotel, but with a couple of exceptions. The room was clean and spacious. The check-in man upon our arrival was very helpful and greeted us with warm cookies. We had requested a ground floor room for our handicapped daughter. "Ground floor" is relative here, because of the hill on the side of the property. Our room required some stairs because of the hill. We managed but weren't completely pleased with the arrangement. If you truly need easy access, a handicapped room is probably better. The next afternoon, we went to the office, hoping for some hot cookies again. The woman who seemed to be in charge seemed flustered by a recent return from time away, and she made excuses for the cookie dough being out of stock. Hot cookies are certainly not a requirement, but it was the tone and impatience of her response that put me off. I had to wonder if she's always like this.

Stayed a night here and the beds were comfy. The shower and toilet area is very small if you were a heavier set person or needed to use a walker. The breakfast options are decent; scrambled eggs, sausage, potatoes, make your own waffles, OJ, apple juice, different cereals, oatmeal, bread and bagels but there was no cream cheese!, hard boiled eggs, yogurt and a fresh fruit.

The air conditioner is super noisy. We actually booked two rooms and one room is fine. The other room cannot use the air conditioner cause no one can sleep with the noise. It's 50 degree in the night btw. The front desk said they can only fix it next morning, or we can cancel our reservation and move out tonight (it's 9:30pm when we were trying to use the ac). It's all ridiculous and please be very careful if you're trying to book this hotel.

The hotel was clean, the beach was close, and the staff at check in were very nice and helpful. They gave us food options and the recommended restaurant was great. The refrigerator in the roof was not working and smelled like it hadn't been working in a while. I called the front desk. They did offer to send someone up to check on the unit, but we were heading out soon, and didn't have time to wait. As we were not going to use the refrigerator it didn't matter, but it should have been checked out by cleaning staff prior to our check in. The bed was comfy and the noise from the highway was barely noticeable. The trouble for us was when we went to check out. The staff at the counter was extremely rude, and when I told her I was just checking out and giving her the key cards. she just ignored me. There was another person there also. It may have been she was working with him , but she didn't seem to be. Another staff member came in, and when I said I just want to check out, she referred me back to staff member #1. As staff member #1 was heading out the door she said we will.... I never heard the rest. When she did come back in, I ask her to repeat her answer. She just rolled her eyes then said, "I said we will email you your receipt". I still have not gotten the receipt, and I have not gotten a call back from the hotel when I ask to speak to the manager about my receipt. If the staff had been a bit more helpful on check out day I would have given them a perfect rating. I am still hoping to hear back from them and get my receipt! I understand sometimes people have a bad day. I hope that is the case!

This hotel is just ok!! It was clean and had a great breakfast choice! Just old and needs some pain! Besides that it was very close to Marina State Beach! We would stay there again! Just check out the room before you take your stuff into room.

First & foremost I will come back for its location to everything you need. Found the rooms to be clean, furniture was over sized making the room somewhat small feeling. Walls are thin for we could here the room next door up to 1AM. Stairs are awkward & makes getting to your room long. Great parking, staff was friendly.

Stayed here in two rooms for my family of 3 adults and 2 kids. We had such a good time! Location is close to Monterey and Carmel fun, but away from everyone else. Nice access to the beach and gorgeous sunsets. We loved the breakfast spread, too. We've stayed here every year once or twice for the past 3 years and really enjoy it.

Everything you need like: comfort, safety, and affordable pricing. I was able to book last minute without an issue. I love the location because it's close to everything but not in the actual tourist area so you get away from traffic for a but.

Paid 145 for the night , beds leave much ti be desired. Not comfortable at all and small pillows. Bathrooms are the smallest I have seen in a long time . Mini fridge had food in it from the 7th I rented room on 9th, good job cleaning crew. Over the years I have stayed in many different hotels in this area sadly unless your in a 400 plus a night hotel down by cannery row your just not going to get a great place to stay it seems. I'm sure there are a few out there but I havent found them yet.

This is exactly what we were hoping for during a family weekend getaway. It is a little bit north of Monterrey and Seaside. It had easy access to visiting our niece at CSU Monterrey. It is fairly close to the beach (just on the other side of the dunes). The breakfast provided was awesome for my family and we truly enjoyed having that available each morning we woke up to start our day out on the right foot. The staff was very good and accommodating to any need such as an additional towel or bottle of water.

We stayed here the last 3 times we went to monterey and have loved it each time. We definitely plan on going back. The staff is great, the location is beautiful and the rooms are comfortable. Couldn't be happier.

This is an older property and that is always a challenge regarding appeal. Stayed at this property in December and the Christmas decorations were just a great lift for the "traveling" spirits. The staff was great, helpful and friendly. Our room was nice and clean; big importance for us and all I suppose. The physical setup of the property is just great and I bet in the Spring/Summer the flowers are gorgeous. Overall just great. We will stay here again if we are ever in Marina.

The nicest people! Great breakfast love the automatic pancake maker!! Walk to the beach. Drive 15-20 min to the Montrey Bay Aquarium! Great food in the area. Scooters for ren right by the hotel. Weather was beautiful!

Awsome staff, very polite and professional.Super clean, comfy rooms, great breakfast, plenty of options to choose from. Set rite on the Dunes, less a 5 min walk to beautiful Marina state beach, never over crowded, clean and quaint. Trails also lead you to high point of gorgeous scenery, overlooking the oceanside with a full panoramic view!! I think ill make this one of my many get away sanctuaries! This place sets the bar!!

The hotel staff is always friendly, proffessional and caring. The rooms are clean, internet service is great. It's a great place to stay, however make your reservations early, this place is always booked. It speaks well of the staff and their professionalism and care.

Booked through Hotwire and got this hotel instead of what was on their list.. First thing the door lock was broken ,had to change rooms. Tv really old. Had to request to have phone turned on. The worst thing was the mattress, you would roll into a depression, could not sleep.

This hotel is very close to the main road and not at all sound proofed. Noise from other rooms was an issue too. Try and stay upstairs so you don't hear people above you. There is no fridge or microwave in the room. I would not stay again.

My second stay at Best Western Dunes. Once again attending a car event. I have found the staff frendly and helpful. My room was not fancy but clean. Breakfast is a bit dispointing, but nice to have. Note make reservations early for best price.

Pros: the location of this hotel is very convenient to both the highway and the beach. From the hotel to the entrance to the State Park beach access parking lot and restrooms is about a 10 minute walk. There is also a small but nice jacuzzi pool by the lobby, and the free chocolate chip cookies were nice. Cons: the housekeeping for the room we stayed in was most definitely sub-standard, and the response from the front desk was completely unsatisfactory. Long dark hairs were found on the bathroom floor and stuck to the inside of the bathroom door; there were long dark hairs on the folded hand towels (no bath towels were provided); dresser drawers contained a pair of socks and magazines belonging to a Mr. Bennett of Oregon; and an empty Gatorade bottle was found under the bed. All of which makes one question the overall cleanliness of the entire room, and whether we even had clean sheets! When these issues were reported to the front desk, the response was that the housekeeper had a lot of rooms to clean, she was overwhelmed and had been given the day off - and in any event they generally don't clean the drawers, and that they were keeping a list of people who trashed the rooms and they would not be allowed to stay there again (note: this was not a case of a room being trashed but rather just not cleaned adequately). They did offer to move us, but by that time there didn't seem to be much point ... we had already unpacked and presumably the same individual might have been responsible for cleaning a second room as well. There are other hotels on the same street and within a few feet of the Best Western which you might consider in the alternative... the Monterey Beach Dunes Inn is next door and The Sanctuary Beach Resort is across the street. And check prices online before you book. We paid $124.54, but as I write this review the online price is substantially less.

Our room had not been vacuumed, there were crumbs and debris on the desk, there was hair on the bathroom floor and in the bathtub. Our room was never vacuumed during the three nights we were there. The water is on such tight flow restriction that it's like there is no pressure and takes for EVER to rinse the soap off. There's only one ice machine and it's down by the lobby, in other words, hugely inconvenient. When the toilet paper ran out housekeeping never replaced it. When the kleenex ran out housekeeping never replaced it. The bathrooms are very tiny and hard to negotiate. No swimming pool, and the hot tub jets do not work.The hot tub is very small and has recently been repaired with a caulking material that rubs off on your swimming suit and on your skin. The hot tub hours are noon to 10 p.m., not very conducive to relaxing after a fun day at the beach and dinner out. The breakfast bar area is very small and cramped and always overcrowded. They have Chinet paper plates, good for them, and super flimsy small cheap plastic silverware, essentially useless. They have hard boiled eggs in little individually wrapped pouches, good for people who need protein. The beds are small but okay. There's no safe in the room. Marina state Beach is walking distance away.

Stayed a night playing at CSUBM. Check-in was prompt. The room was clean, large and quiet. Didn't hear a sound from the freeway nearby. Lots of parking available. Breakfast was typical but appetizing. Good service.

Stayed for one night while traveling from San Francisco to Big Sur. Nice hotel, clean and comfy beds, quiet and close to the beach. Many options to choose from for breakfast. Check in and check out was fast and the front desk was very welcoming. We were traveling with an infant but they did not have cribs so bring your own. Recommended for a quick stay!

This hotel was great in every way except one exception. It was right by the highway and being that it's an older hotel, the walls are thin, that being said I always bring earplugs when I travel! So never bothered me! They also have them at the hotel desk if you need them! The courtyard and grounds are well maintained, and our housekeeper was amazing! Our room was top notch cleaned everyday and we were there for a week! We stayed on the 2nd floor which there are stairs and no elevator, but even with my leg issues I still was glad we did the 2nd floor. It's a quiet area except for the highway and away from the hustle and bustle which we liked! Beach access within walking distance! It could have been quieter at other end of building away from highway but we were still satisfied with our room location. The hotel staff was always friendly and the breakfast wasn't bad. They had pancakes, waffles, scrambled eggs, sausage, and biscuits and gravy on some days, yogurt, donuts, breads for toasting, muffins, had boiled eggs, bagels & cream cheese some days, coffee, juice, oatmeal, 3 kinds of cold cereal, and fresh fruit. They had fresh fruits for waffles too and whipped cream! The staff person who does the breakfast was awesome! Kept things clean and well stocked! Thanks Best Western for a great stay! We will definitely recommend you and if we ever get back there again would definately stay there again!!

Very nice and comfortable accommodations. Friendly and attentive staff. Especially Lauren, who was very helpful with information about the area and things to do and see in Monterey and Carmel. Affordable. Comfortable, short walking distance to the beach.

The front desk is not open 24/7. Would have been good info to know since we had to check out very early and needed a detailed receipt for work purposes. But they did email the receipt. The only other issue we had was that my moms room key entry didn't work most of the time. Otherwise all good and nice place to stay.

Spent 2 nights. Close to Marina State Beach which is quiet. Staff very professional. Room clean and tidy. Breakfast was good and well presented. Does have hot tub and play area for children. Close to shopping and restaurants. Will stay again when in the Monterey Area.

I haven't stayed in an economy Hotel in years that doesn't have a microwave or refrigerator in the room. But this one didn't. There was plenty of space for one, but nothing. To chill a carton of milk I had to pour ice in the sink. Good location. Only a few miles up the road from Monterey. Nice hiking on the nearby Dunes, if that's your thing. Room was reasonably comfortable. Good cable TV. Workable high-speed internet. Staff was friendly.

I arrived last Sunday afternoon to spend a week in Monterey for their world famous 'Car Week', paying an extreme premium for this priveledge - literally - to the tune of $377.00 per night on peak nights (AAA rate no less) - a large sum of money for what truly amounted to a $70 motel room. Hard bed, dated furniture, musty, 'wet carpet' for odor in both rooms I occupied. (Switched because I needed a different room type nd first room had rattling climate control unit). Staff is great. Cannot emphasize that enough. Manager, front desk, housekeeping, etc. All hard workers and super friendly. But this property needs one heck of a facelift. Right now it looks like circa 1990!

Quick check in, close to beach. Didn't start well with broken a/c and broken lamps. Old and tired again like most USA hotels on our trip. Noisy a/c when it started working after maintenance visit, dark room due due faulty lamps. No safety deposit box, tiny bathroom. Reasonable breakfast choice, free parking, outside hot tub, good Wi-fi.

it was my first stay at this hotel in my trips to Monterrey. It was exactly what i expected. Clean and friendly hotel. Did not wonder around the property. Right next to the dunes I will definitely stay there again.

This is a great place to stay, for a reasonable price, if you are visiting Point Lobos, Carmen, Monterey, Aptos, Castroville, Watsonville, and Santa Cruz.I go whale watching in Moss Landing only 10 minutes away.I will stay there again.

The person running the front desk was snarky and dismissive when asking about the wifi, generally came off as annoyed that she was working. The beds were ok. The shower head was loose and coming out of the wall and the shower curtain was filthy and had weird streaks on it. Didn't feel clean. Tvs were also super small.

I stayed her last week with my sister because we wanted to spend a day in Carmel and a day in Monterey. This hotel is cute .. a little dated but close to the beach and close to the places we wanted to visit. We stayed two nights and really enjoyed ourselves. Check in was pretty easy .. the gals at the front desk were very sweet and helpful. Continental breakfast was good... plenty to choose from but the kitchen staff not helpful or friendly at all. I will still stay here again and looking forward to the next visit to the coast.

This Best Western is a pretty typical 3-star hotel with decent value for the price. The rooms are average size and quality, clean and comfortable. The breakfast was pretty average with a good selection of self-serve eggs/bacon/pancakes/waffles/toast/cereal/coffee/juice, though very crowded on both days that we stayed. There is a hot tub but no pool. The beach is just a couple of blocks away.

We stayed here for a day, it's near the beach - just walkable distance from the hotel. Rooms and restrooms are neat, we didn't have any issues. Breakfast was okay, Wifi speed also was okay. Front office staffs were helpful and friendly.

We were attending a wedding in the area and this was one of the few spots that did not require a two night stay. This is your basic Best Western. Clean, comfortable and efficient. With the basic thin walls. Their location in addition to the premium time of year allows for price gouging...errrr, seasonal pricing. If you are a light sleeper request a room away from the freeway and/or ask for a free pair of ear plugs that they gladly provide!

This hotel is located pretty far out, the beach near the hotel was ok. The lighting in the rooms were some of the worst I've ever experienced. I walked outside to put on my makeup. The drains were broken in both the rooms we were in, a defective motion sensor light kept going off every 15 seconds (we timed it) If you're looking for an average, mediocre off the beaten path hotel, this will suffice. It was great, it wasn't terribly expensive, comfort was average and location was pretty far out from where anything was going on.

My son and I were traveling for fun over his summer vacation. We randomly picked this hotel based on the location as were driving south on the CA coast. We arrived around 10 pm. The gal a the front desk was friendly The next day when we went for breakfast in the lobby, the staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel is located next to sand dunes. A short walk takes you to a path that leads right to the beach. This Best Western I would have to say is one of my favorite hotels! Highly recommend!!

We stayed one night only, arriving late and leaving relatively early so we did not use any of the hotel facilities. The hotel was clean but I found our room a little dated and shabby compared to the other Best Western hotels we stayed in during our trip to California. Having said that, it was good value for the money so I would stay there again.

two weeks ago we stayed at the bw on the right side of the motel it was very clean and the furniture was very shiny it look like glass..the really nice housekeeper Melissa served us for two days and was wonderful..she really knows and cares for her job and others..the breakfast was so good and so much to choose from..great service in there and the front desk lady Lauren was excellent...It a great family hotel and I will see them next year..thank you for your time..

This hotel is really fun. There is an area for the children to play. It is within walking distance to the beach and the flowers smell wonderful. We had a delightful stay. The staff were very helpful with an early check in. We were close to shopping and a short distance to the Monterey Bay Aquarium.

Easy to find off Highway 1. Very nice staff and rooms. Clean and comfortable. Breakfast was exactly what I expected. We arrived fairly late and were greeted with a smile and information about our room to make it easier to avoid stairs.

Small cozy hotel with view to the dunes. Very close to malls and attractions. Verh scenjc road driving there. The rooms are old but in neat conditiom, they offer more amenities than an average hotel. Friendly staff and very simple breakfast.

Spent two nights on a Holiday weekend and spent more than four hundred, so consider that with following comments; large room with two double beds, nice furnishings, extra small bathroom, and good size counter with sink (in room). The buildings are obviously old, as the sound from neighbors goes right through walls and floors. Count yourself lucky if your neighbors are of quiet nature, but bring your ear plugs just in case. The remote wasn't working. Watch out with a hot bath, as the water temperature is set (too) hot. The breakfast room was too small, on both mornings, for the crowds, families, that gather, for the reasonable offerings. For good coffee, look elsewhere, or bring your own (as we did) so you can make it in your room. The common bathrooms were very large and tastefully painted and furnished with art; would definitely recommend those.

Our first impression of the property was that it was not as close to the ocean as pictures suggest but still a fairly short walk to two beach access points one of which is very sandy and difficult to navigate. The room decor was dated and had a distinct odor. Breakfast room is fairly large and selection average. All rooms are accessed from the outdoors. Hotel is close to the highway so you get a certain amount of road noise, we found the hotel to be very quiet otherwise. Saw some whale spouts offshore.

Reasonable value, but it's kind noise. One or two of the staffs are not friendly. Close to express way, one needs to go other towns for services - Gas, Food, and others. I have no more comments, Enjoy your trip

This was a spur-of-the-moment trip and I got a super last-minute special, which cost about half the rate at a much more bare-bones motel with few amenities where I've stayed recently in Pacifica. This BW is not far from Hwy 1, but I didn't think traffic noise was a problem. Even more important, it is just a short walk from Marina State Beach, or you can merely go outside your room to the outdoor walkway and see the sunrise or sunset (all rooms face north or south). The grounds are nicely landscaped with grass, shrubbery, and flowers, and there is a hot tub which I never saw anyone use because the weather was never very warm. The lobby is nicely decorated in a Monterey regional motif with ceramic, glass, and odds and ends. It feels more like a hotel than a motel lobby and even has restrooms, something motel offices don't typically have. The desk staff was always helpful and pleasant. I had a double queen room a couple of doors from a corner stairway, but I did not hear comings and goings. It had a fridge but not a microwave. Bed was comfortable and I slept well; second bed was handy storage space. Armchair with hassock was comfortable enough but I didn't spend much time in it. Wi-fi signal was consistent. Many BWs have hot breakfast, which is a great amenity when you want to do other things with your time than search for a place to have some eggs or fruit. There was a self-serve pancake maker, mixed fruit, cereal, donuts, OJ, cranberry juice, and one day scrambled eggs, sausage, and bacon, the next scrambled eggs and biscuits and gravy. An attendant frequently checked on containers and general order.

This was a gem hiding by the ocean. Our room was clean, quiet and comfortable. Access to the beach was about a 5 min walk for us. The breakfast bar was well stocked and had a good variety of items in it. I would not hesitate to stay here on my next visit to the area!

Donna is awesome. Melissa did a great job cleaning our room and Juanita served a wonderful breakfast. The hotel is so convenient and close to everything we need. This is our 3rd stay with Donna! And won't be our last.

Beautiful exterior and lobby, dirty and worn room - the door and doorjam had grimy hand prints on it, carpet had crumbs on it and was worn in places and the bathroom floor was also dirty. Housekeeping must have bypassed our room too, which was unexpected. Breakfast was on par with other Best Western properties we experienced. The in-room was not plugged in on arrival, which we unfortunately didn't realize until the next day, so we lost some food. Overall not among the better Best Westerns we've experienced.

Stay was mostly pretty good, but one BIG problem: 20180412_085113.jpg My wife asked for a quiet room.The desk clerk gave us four rooms in less than 20 minutes. When we arrived at 216, the first one, we found it occupied with luggage, personal effects and more. Luckily we didn't get shot, but no one was there at the moment. We were forced to wait in line again to explain our predicament and got keys for 212, which turned out to be just above the jacuzzi occupied by several men with 2 cases of beer opened and already getting loud. Incredibly, we were forced to wait in line again, even though the clerk now knew she had a serious customer service problem. Didn't get her name. I'm not even sure where the 204 envelope came from- we weren't there. We next got a key for 235. As we were walking up to the door, the desk clerk came running up to us, saying that room wasn't ready. She then gave us keys for 237. Regards, George Miller

We stayed here for 2 nights and we are a family of 4. The room was comfortable with 2 Queen beds, a large dresser, TV and mini fridge. The sink and vanity area had plenty of counter space. The bathroom contained the toilet and shower/tub combo. The bathroom was small however the shower was obviously newly remodeled with plenty of shelf space in the shower which was very nice for shampoos and soaps etc. The breakfast was plentiful and the food was hot. They served orange juice, cranberry juice, coffee, water, bread, bagels, muffins, cereal, fresh fruit, yogurt, hardboiled eggs, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, & potatoes. There's also a self serve waffle maker and an amazing instant pancake machine where you just press the button and a minute later pancakes come out on the side of the conveyor belt. The staff at the hotel was extremely pleasant and friendly. We checked in late about 9:00 p.m. on a Friday night and were greeted with hot cookies when we walked in the door - what a treat after a long drive! Everybody from the manager to the desk attendants to the assistant manager and housekeeping staff were extremely pleasant, courteous and helpful. The location of the hotel is walking distance to Marina state beach and we enjoyed watching paragliders on the beach. The hotel had very reasonable rates. This is not an upscale hotel but it is clean & comfortable and we will definitely stay here again.

The beds were uncomfortable, bathroom really small. Room was small and not worth the price. We checked out after one night though we paid for two nights because of back pain from sleeping on the beds. The breakfast room was tiny/cramped and food was of poor quality and quantity.

My family really enjoyed this hotel and its proximity to Marina Beach. Easy to take kids to the water and come back to the room without getting too cold. Staff was friendly and full breakfast was more than adequate. Close proximity to Moss Landing for fine dining, and to Cannery Row for tourist attractions. My family is already asking me to book again when the weather is warmer for longer stays at the beach. Access to fast food and Walmart down the road on the same exit within a half a mile if needed. Room was a little dated but extremely comfortable beds. Complimentary internet service was enough speed for kids to continue to play internet games.

Great hotel and the staff is very friendly and helpful.The breakfat was very good and plenty to choose from for the whole family. Its only a short five minutes drive to cannery row. We will be staying here again.

I stayed for a few days in Feb for work and the price was very reasonable. The hotel is in need of an upgrade however it's safe and clean. The location is within walking distance to the beach and the breakfast was also a plus.

We stayed there 2 night and we liked it a lot, the room was gigantic, the only downside was no little fridge in the room and on the first night the ice machine wasn't working but we were able to get ice from the hotel right next to it the Monterey Beach Dunes Inn that belongs to the same owner. Breakfast was delicious, good variety.

Hotel needs to be updated, but for the $100 price for 1night was a good value for Monterey area. Walk to the beach, amazing restaurant across the street at “The Sanctuary” . Staff was super nice, and very accommodating to our requests. They get a Gold Star!! Rooms are noisy.. showers from the next room woke us up.

Great location, right on the beach. Rooms were on the older side but clean and well maintained. Highlight was the breakfast in the morning all the hotel regulars plus fresh ?? fruit, waffles and pancakes, eggs and sausage. Nice way to get the morning going.

Second time here to visit my Son and Daughter in law in Salinas. This is the deal of the day. I met the manager Donna and was impressed again with the desk staff who were friendly and helpful. The room was with a king size bed and a bath tub. Very clean as we checked it out from front room to bathroom. Was impressed that there were 6 pillows on the bed ranging from semi hard to comfortably soft. Donna's staff were hard at work around the property and everything was clean. I would recommend this property to friends and family. 2 blocks from the beach and the gateway to Monterey.

Nice place to stay. Location is ideal for walks on the beach. During certain times of the year whales can be seen from the Dunes. Very cool to watch. There are a few options for eating within walking distance.

Nice place to stay close to the beach. Breakfast was great. Room was clean. Our only issue was noise from kids in the room next to us at 12:30am that kept us awake for about 45 minutes. I would stay again though.

This place is off the beaten path. Its really walking distance from the beach. The breakfast in the morning is hearty. The rooms are large. Its great value. We were able to get to Monterey and Big Sur with in 20 mins.

The hotel is a little old but only a few steps from the beach. They have a good complementary breakfast. There was no Fridge or MW in the room but you can use the MW from the main office. We spend most of the time watching the amazing sunset.

Very much below average hotel. Location is too far from the highway.... very old rooms... door locks not working good!!! No refrigerator!!! Below average breakfast!!! Quality of food is not that great!!! May be good for singles... couples please stay away!!!

Stayed for one night on the way back to SFO. It was ok but by the freeway. Room is dated but clean. Good linens & towels. Note there is NO ELEVATOR but the lower rooms open to the parking lot. Staff pleasant and check in was quick. The Wi-Fi was good although the T-V had its moments but it was flat screen. Beds were ok. breakfast was the biskits & gravy....no jam or pb for the toast.oh well.

Not very quiet and the beds were uncomfortable, thin walls. We had the misfortune of being next to an angry man who spoke loudly. Breakfast area was way too small for the size of the hotel, so it was crowded throughout breakfast hours and very chaotic, people pushing, no way to lineup, food would disappear as soon as it was put out. Looked like a good breakfast of sausage, eggs, waffles, potatoes, fruit, if you can get any. Very challenging if you have children. I would have been very disappointed if I had paid full price. The room was listed at $150+ cdn/night but I got it for about $80. It was mostly worth it for that. It was comparable to nice budget motels I've stayed at and it was clean. I actually had a better experience at a Super 8 on the same trip. So, it's not a bad hotel, just not a $150/night hotel. I'd choose somewhere else next time, regardless.

Recurring tonal ringing noise in room 234. Lasted for 5-10 minutes and occurred throughout the night. Other than that thete was no traffic noise despite its location next to freeway. Staff, cleanliness, comfort of bed was fine.

We needed a little break from smokey skies so we came up to Marina. We enjoyed our stay at Best Western. Pleasant surprise. Our little guy also liked the little playground outside. Only short walking distance to a beautiful beach.

Although there was nothing remarkable about this hotel the service was excellent and they allowed us to switch rooms to a more desirable location. The breakfast was good and included eggs and sausage/ bacon. I also liked close proximity to the beach.

We came across this place while going out to dinner at a nearby restaurant and as we really like the Best Western Hotels decided to stay an extra day on our small trip to the Monterrey Bay/ Carmel area to see how it would work for future trips there. It was exactly what we were hoping for and we also got to explore the cities of Marina and Seaside which we had never done. Wonderful.

I like this property for the professional, friendly, accommodating.The staff goes the extra mile. Hospitality, house keeping does a wonderful job in keeping everything clean. the breakfast room, to outside the property to inside the room as well. altogether a pleasant place to stay. Quiet, location is great, easy on, easy off the freeway.

The best part of the stay was the beach , Right next to Marina state beach , beautiful location, walk down the beach. Room was okay , could be a little cleaner , a refrigerator would be appreciated and modern decor would be nice. The place makes up for it with breakfast offering a little more than some with eggs, bacon , waffles and potatoes and ofcourse the usual cereals and fruit. 15 minute drive to the aquarium.

This was the second time we have stayed at this inn and it did not disappoint. For the price, you can't beat the quality. Rooms were decent and the breakfast was generous--even offering waffles, eggs, bacon and potatoes. One morning they had biscuits and gravy. All these options in addition to the standard continental breakfast. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We will be coming back.

The hotel was ok for the rate. Check-in and out was swift and breakfast was good. Location is optimal, close to Walmart and walking distance to beach. We experienced great service, but will reconsider due to quality of cleanliness and rooms.

The hotel staff went above and beyond during our stay. The hotel is located a short distance to Monterey. The remote feel and view of the dunes is incredible. Room price was extremely reasonable. We will definitely stay here again.

It is a clean room with the marina state beach being round the corner. It was good value for money. There was a decent collection of things for breakfast. The only feedback I had was that the coffee machine at the breakfast is not very good and adds a lot of hot water making the coffee terrible. So we just went back to the room and made some decent coffee. If they can replace it, that will be awesome. The front desk always had coffee and when i checked in the whole place smelled of freshly baked cookies. It is close to a ton of restaurants which is convenient as well. Overall, I would totally recommend this place.

Conveniently located, rooms are nicely presented, breakfast was average and fair for the price paid. The best point is that the hotel is located close to a wide sandy beach. Highway is quite close but it wasn't noisy and sleep was comfortable. I can recommend it highly as a stopover. We stayed 3 nights without any problems.

Nice, clean hotel. Within walking distance to beach. Very helpful site manager and staff. No pool. Jacuzzi available. Within driving distance to Monterey, Carmel, and beautiful scenery along the coast.

Luckily we were only here for the night. The window wouldn't close in the first room we were in, however, we were given another room with no problems right away. The hotel seems old and hasn't been updated in a long time. It's located right near the beach, which is a positive if that's what you're looking for. Not the kind of place you want to spend time in. The rooms have a funky smell and the kind of creepy carpet you see in old hotels. The breakfast was fine considering it's free.

Beds were old and hard need replacing. Location was great. Close to the beach. Friendly Staff, good breakfast. Price was great. Pipes need fixing too, any time we or our neighbors used any source of water the pipes would bang. (not cool when you are sleeping and get woken up.

i wasn't looking for a special place to stay, just a place to sleep after hard days. this is not super fancy but good. tv was not satisfactory, no sound on several channels. didn't work for the World Series.

I would give 3.75- if I could. It's a basic 3 star hotel. Very clean and very good breakfast. I like that they have a hot selection and lots of fruit. It takes about 15 minutes to get to The Monterey Bay Aquarium and about 10 minutes to Moss Landing (Sanctuary Cruise-whale watching *best ever. And Phils Fish market-awesome Ciopino). Front desk staff always friendly. The freeway can be noisy- so bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper.

It's ok! Not great! The seem to have fixed the reservation issues. I got a room this time. Last time I had my confirmation number and they said they never heard of it. So I had to stay at the crapy hotel next that are Affiliated with. This time the room was dirty. 3 out of 4 towels were dirty. I found hair in the bed that looked. Like it had been made up after someone slept in it. Breakfast looks like a hospital room. Not pleasent. I've stayed here a lot. I'm less impressed every time. I think it was my last stay.

This is truly one of the best Best Western hotels we have stayed in. It is in close proximity to anything you would want to do in the Monterey Bay area. The rooms and hotel in general are kept in the best condition and a full breakfast on the road is indeed a big bonus. They are literally walking distance from a state beach with a beautiful view. We did have a prob with the satellite TV provider but the staff had it resolved in a timely manner,

Everything was excellent. Staff was friendly and helpful (especially Arlene). Only negative was the poor internet connection. I will stay here again when in this area. Conveniently located right off the highway and a decent walk to the beach.

I have not stayed in a motel for a long time that the room was this dirty. Items left in the refrigerator, dirty wash cloth on the floor in the bathroom, dirty spots on the sheets from previous guest. Other than that, breakfast was OK.

Had a good experience with the well located facility. Would recommend. Although, it was pricey with some race event at Laguna Seca which I was not interested in attending. We wanted to get out of the smoke in Napa. With work shut down, I went to a wedding too.

The price for this hotel is very reasonable. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. This was the first hotel where I've used the iron that was actually decent. The carpet seemed very dirty. If I checked in earlier I would have asked for another room but it was so late I didn't want to bother. I just walked around the room with my shoes.

We were uncertain what to expect when we booked this hotel. We were pleasantly surprised with everything! The room was very clean and very nice. There were lots of nice touches including extra coffee and cups with the coffee maker. Pantene Shampoo, bath mat. Towels were nice and large enough to wrap around. Breakfast was more than we anticipated - full breakfast with lots of continental items. Lauren at the front desk was super helpful - check-in and out was fast and simple. And hotel was close to the beach. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a decent hotel for a great price!

Stay was nice, rooms were clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful! Was nice having the beach so close you could walk to it. Hotel was right off the freeway so that made it very convenient to get around.

We stayed in unit 118, which should not be rented to guests until the problem of mold, mildew be corrected. We knew this was a no frills hotel, but expected the usual Best Western standards of a decent place to stay. The staff was courteous and efficient, the location great,which is why I gave it any stars. The room was horrible. Upon first entering, my husband noticed a musty smell. We also could hear the highway. We assessed that it would be ok since we were going to be out most of the time anyway. When we went to bed, the night got cool and we turned on the room heater. We awoke sneezing, with irritated throats and basically not feeling well. It was either be cold or be sick. So we turned off the heater. The other issues were the walls are thin, the doors to the rooms are close together. Our neighbors kept knocking on their door late at night and then again, starting at 6 am. It sounded like our door, so we would have to get up to see if it was. We could also hear plumbing being used in other units, the highway traffic and other guests talking. The bed was uncomfortable which added to our discomfort. We informed the hotel staff of the problems and although she offered to move us to a different room, we chose to leave. My husband had to take allergy meds and we chose less activities the day following this awful night due the lingering effects of the mold exposure. Thank goodness for the ocean air!

No frig, free breakfast are the minus and plus of this no-frills facility. There is nothing else much to say about it. My room was aesthetically blah. The location of the building does not take advantage of its location near the beach -- no views.

I stayed there last year (2016) and enjoyed my stay. This year, although the staff was overly accommodating the room was in bad shape. The outlet by sink was shorted out and melted, thick dirt on top of the light switch by the sink and mildew in the bathroom which made the room smell unpleasant.

This hotel was only "OK." For the price it demands, I'd say it wasn't worth it, but we were in a pinch so we had to stay here. Breakfast would have been a good option, had it been stocked, but it wasn't. Most of the products were missing or had run out. The room itself was OK, with "messy, rushed renovation" being the predominant theme.

Very uncomfortable beds. We had to change rooms because the smell in the first room was terrible. The breakfast was below expectations. The staff were helpful and accommodating. The walls were so thin we could hear the conversations in the next room.

We will definitely revisit! The rooms overall cleanliness could have been a little better, but it looked as if maybe the room had not been stayed in recently. The staff was great, and the breakfast was fabulous as well. Close to the beach and to near attractions as well. Pleasant place to stay!!

I like to use Best Western, for their quality is consistent and the decor and pricing fits my budget. I like their location and the , they're usually one or two story. This motel was within walking distance of ocean and just off the freeway.

There is nothing exceptional about this property, but it is clean, the staff friendly, and location near the beach if that's your thing. The free breakfast is well stocked and attended. A good value for travellers who just want a decent stay and aren't in need of lots of amenities. Would definitely stay again.

While this motel is nothing fancy (no workout room, for example) the location is terrific - right across from a park with great beach access. The room was very comfortable and quiet and the breakfast buffet was excellent - waffles, oatmeal, eggs, etc. Although it is right by a freeway, which is great for easy access, it is not noisy in the rooms.

I've already said how awful! And I won't be returning to your hotels ever again! Making me write this again is beyond frustrating, you take advantage of peoLe like me, I travel a lot, now my son just started UCLA, I need to visit him, where do I stay?!

Stayed at this hotel while visiting Monterey and Pacific Grove. The office staff was friendly and very accommodating! Rooms are what you would expect for a Best Western, clean, adequate size. Decor is slightly dated but not a problem. Very good continental breakfast. Room was very quiet despite being right next to Highway 1. It is a short walk to the beach and dunes. About a 15 minute drive to Monterrey. A very good value for the location and amenities. Room had a coffee maker but no small refrigerator.

Best western beach dunes is a wonderful place to stay. It is close to both highway 1 and a public beach. The front desk staff is great and their breakfast is filling. There is enough parking to not stress about returning late and not finding a spot.

We arrived late in the evening without a reservation, ( on the Best Western web page there were rooms available ), the front desk lady told us there are no rooms and when I showed her the web page she called her manager and some how we got a room at first floor. The room was clean but smelly, in the bathroom there was just one towel and no shower curtain. I went back to the front desk to get some towels and a curtain, and there was somebody else waiting for towels ( they didn't have enough towels). I waited for a while and I got them. My husband has to put the shower curtain on because there wasn't anybody to help. The shower faucet was leaking and the sound didn't let me sleep, I had to use two towels to stop the noise, one in the tub, under the faucet, and I wrapped the other one around the faucet... We noticed some tiny insects running around mostly by the bathroom. The breakfast was good but the dining area is small. The staff is very friendly and helpful.The best is the beach that is part of the state park. We had a nice long walk and we were treated with a great show: very playful dolphins and sea lions.

We were meeting up with family and friends so wanted to be centrally located within the Bay. The facility was easy to find and very clean, great friendly staff, very knowledgeable of the area, good breakfast, good central location for the Monterey Bay. Local shopping, close to beach. The bed was way to firm for us and not much water pressure in the shower. Overall it was a great place to stay and would certainly stay again!

Uncrowded location with easy access for a quick overnight stop. Folks looking for more will like the beach access, great for walks and enjoying the ocean! Rooms and building look dated and tired from the salty air but the furnishings and fixtures are all updated and the beds are comfortable. I travel for business and I prefer the extra morning drive time and staying here compared to the alternatives in Salinas.

The hotel was very comfortable and rooms spacious. We were on the first floor so had to get luggage up and down the stairs but this didn't detract from our stay. We had a lovely walk to the beach - water is freezing but again didn't stop us getting in! The hotel is relatively close to shops which was convenient to be able to get some refreshments and snacks to enjoy at the pool side in the evening. Breakfast was adequate with a variety of choices for everyone. The dining area is a little small for the size of the hotel so everyone ate in "relays" to be accommodated.

The experience in this hotel was very good. The localisation near the beach is faboulous. I recommand this hotel. The breakfast was perfect and the personnel was ok. The room was very confortable. If i have to go again on the west coast of United States, i will come back.

staff seemed friendly but not very helpful. place is dated, cleaning staff not good at all. every day was a different amount of towels, some days short. one day with no soap left at all. was very expensive because of a car show i wasn't attending.

The location was fine. The condition of the room iffy, with repairman still in room fixing phone as we checked in. There were periodic pounding sounds (machinery?} There were ongoing road repairs also added to disappointment. Food definitely needed improvement, not at the level I had experienced before.

Nice quiet hotel, distanced from the beach, the crowds. If you are looking for a nice quiet place to relax with loved one, this is the place. Make sure to bring bottle water, wine, snack foods and a lot of love.

The room was clean and the bed comfy. Had two queen beds and plenty of room to walk around. Bathroom is small but clean. Breakfast was surprisingly good since it says continental. Every morning there was a hot entree - scrambled eggs and sausage or biscuits and gravy along with fresh melons and stuff to put on the waffles. I would defintely stay here again.

So not worth over a 100$ a night. I understand it is close to the beach.The room was not cleaned properly, we had no refrigerator in our room, but the room exactly the same next door did have one. The walls are not sound proof or thick at all and I could hear my neighbors fighting, so I got very little sleep. Maybe if the price was a little cheaper it would be a good 1 nighter.

A comfortable and well located hotel. Considerate staff who went out of their way to fulfill our requests. I have been going to this hotel for about 7 years and have always found it comfortable and well located.

Stayed 3 nights at $200/night. Room not cleaned, staff unable to put forth any effort to keep up with breakfast rush, and argumentative staff (housekeeping supervisor). Find another option for your money.

There is nothing special about this hotel. Nice to have a complimentary hot breakfast. There are no plugs in the hand basin or bath - they don't know why they do this, but they will supply plugs if asked. The hotel is hugely over-priced, but I suppose everything is in the Monterey area.

Great location. Great breakfast. Go to the breakfast early tho, because it go crowded later in the morning. Excellent place to stay. Walked to the beach the next morning and saw whales and dolphins. Relaxing.

This was the worst Best Western I've ever stayed at. If it would've been my first time at a Best western I would never stay in another one again. My favorite place to stay while traveling is Best western. This place is a dump. They did not treat us well with a three night stay they were very unattended to our room. The quality of concern was one problem but also the lay out of this place really sucks. I wanted a down stairs room so I could park by the room for unloading luggage. They did not tell me it would be literally down a huge flight of stairs in a courtyard. They do not have a clean up crew for messes that were outside our door of McDonald's French fries right in front of the stairs and I had told the maid about it and showed her. It was there for 2 days. We had to pick up the bag and push the mess aside to not step on it. The staff at the counter was rude on arriving and to busy to stop and talk. The manager was looking for something and treated her employee like she was dumb. Towels were still wet that the maid gave me to replace the old ones. Coffee was so weak I couldn't even taste it. The layout of the food was not easy to find the fresh fruit. It was in a basket against a area a trash can should be in. Overall it was the worst experience I've had as a Best Western customer. I tell you what. Save your money and find a cheap deal elsewhere. This place sucks.

I had to close the bathroom door to keep from hearing the tub drip. The breakfast room was compact, but still able to maneuver around the other guests. The shower curtain smelled like mold, but didn't have any on it. Probably just needs to be replaced.

Because we chose to stay just north of Monterey, the cost was lower and well worth it. We were walking distance to the rather windy beach, but it was nice. Breakfast was appreciated and easy. Bedroom and bathroom were both clean and the air conditioner worked well, which was very nice.

The location of the hotel is perfect, they need to clean it up and take pride in their place of business. That is all I have to say about this hotel. We paid to much money for this hotel and didn't like it at all. The pictures on the website are not how it looks today.

Nice location close to the beach but some upgrades need to be done. Basic room with not much amenities. Limited TV channel selection. Free breakfast is nice and also pretty basic. Beds weren't very comfortable as compared to other places I have stayed in the past.

Room Had a musty smell and was very outdated. The bed was lumpy and there was a stain on our sheets. I don't believe room was cleaned well because there was an empty Sprite bottle behind our nightstand.

My partner and I had never visited Monterey and wanted to explore the area, without staying right in the bustle of Monterey itself. For us, this hotel was ideally located - just 8 miles north of Monterey - and very near the ocean. A 5 or 10 minute walk through beautiful dunes got us right onto a long, beautiful State beach park. Not a swimming beach - too rough and cold - but very nice for walking and sitting on a log. When we wanted to check out Monterey it was an easy 10 minute drive. Salinas, inland about 10 miles, is another convenient destination from the Beach Dunes Inn. Beautiful country! The staff was friendly and helpful with suggestions and directions. The bed was very comfy. Breakfast was unusually good for a hotel of this class - lots of options, including scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, and waffles. If you book a room here, be sure to ask for one as far away from Hwy 1 as possible, as traffic noise could be a problem. Aside from that, the experience here is very quiet and low key. Highly recommended!

Classic motel/motor inn experience. Check in was smooth and friendly, rooms were pretty clean and comfy enough for a 1 night stay. No real complaints but nothing really to praise here either. This place did the trick as a place to stay. Location is near the highway which is convenient for travelers but may be tough on light sleepers, so maybe for those light sleepers try to find a room further away from the highway? There was a jacuzzi/tiny pool which was empty and said to be out of order. For how long, I don't know.

This was overall a great hotel for the price (booked on Hotwire), staff was friendly, and food was good for breakfast. Only complaint is that I could hear the people in the hot tub next door and the people in the room next door. Not that they were being terribly loud, the walls were way too thin.

The room was about average, clean and quiet. However, the beach is right there! So close to the beach for a great price. Good breakfast in the morning, only con is that there is a small pool. Very close to Monterey and Pebble Beach!

Great place to stay for our annual trip to the WSBK races at Laguna Seca. This is our third year of staying at this location; it's close to the track and freeway. The staff is super helpful and friendly. My only criticism is that the interior and exterior doors (or the ones I used) were dirty and need to be cleaned and painted. The rest of the hotel, i.e. room, grounds, etc. were in very good condition.

The rooms were nice clean and big. The beds were comfortable. Breakfast was great. They say they have a spa but it is just a small outdoor hot tub, not fun to go to when its cold. No pool, no gym, no food unless you drive around. No refrigerators in rooms. All and all just another road side hotel. Nothing "best" about it. Good for 1 night sleep 20 minutes from Monterrey or when on the road.

Absolutely loved this hotel and staff. Unfortunately the hotel next door is the same name, just not a best western, so tried to check in there first. Very beautiful and clean. Staff couldn't have been anymore accommodating. Easy access to freeways and minutes from Monterey and Moss landing. Loved that they had a nice area for smokers. Can hardly wait to return.

Nice location and convenient to the beach. The property is pretty old and outdated. The room had to many cockroaches. Cockroaches were on the desk and in the furniture. Would be nice if the rooms were pest free.

Water pressure was very low in the bathroom. The layout of the bathroom is not very friendly either, the shower/toilet area (with a door) is very tight. I stayed at hotels with better amenities for the similar price.

Even when your room has the best amenities , to me that is nothing if you don't have a good guest service, from receptionist to breakfast room crew was very satisfied with their service. Good job and thank you.

For the money, this hotel was a pretty good deal. Not super fancy but clean room, good service,high speed internet and not expensive.Location right off Rt 1 so made access to places easy. Staff friendly.

CON: Hotel does not have an elevator, no gym, no pool, the jacuzzi is dirty and only a handful of rooms have a microwave. The housekeeper forgot to clean our room on our second day of staying there. PRO: The beach is across the street and it is about 15 minutes from the Montery aquarium.

This hotel has a great location. You can walk to the beach and CSUMB is two exits away. Shopping is one exit away. The outside buildings are rather worn down, but the rooms are clean and comfy. The spa was not inviting. The wind blows a lot of debri into it. The walls are rather thin. The staff is wonderful and helpful. Price was reasonable.

nice place everyone will go out of there way to make your stay comfortable. your walking distance to the beach. Everytime I work in this area or further away. I stay here cause I know I will be treated like Im family. Love this hotel and everyone that works there.

Great location if u want to be closer to the beach! We spend one night my my wife and 2 year old girl. Considering the averages prices in the area this one it's very reasonable for the price. Most important think CLEAN! GREAT free breakfast. But for one night the bed was uncomfortable for us. Water pressure very low in sink and shower. Took me double of my normal time to washed my hair. Stuff very nice and friendly. Overall good for one night but if you plan to spend a few days in the beach I'll highly recommend Santuary beach resort across the street. More money off course but totally worth it.

We stayed here because of it's closeness to Marina State Beach. We enjoyed a cold and windy ocean sunset and then hustled back to the hot tub to end the evening. The Beach was no more than a 10 minute walk. The air conditioner was outdated but the rest of the room was very nice. Our room overlooked the courtyard in the middle. Woke up to some kids (or families) in the morning, but aside from that, the room was peaceful.

In general, a good night of stay at a reasonably priced hotel. Pros: Friendly and helpful staff, great breakfast, as all my previous stays at BW; Cons: Bed linens could be cleaner; the air conditioner is really out of date, noisy and needs cleaning.

Way underpriced for the amenities and walkable closeness to Marina State Beach. Nice size hot tub to warm up after getting chilly in the waves, great wifi and full breakfast. Super easy access to HWY 1. We LOVE this hotel.

The Rooms were very clea. They have a decent breakfast, I like to soak and they had a heated, and clean Jacuzzi. Very friendly staff, they were able to accommodate us and let us check in early . Nice courtyard to stroll around and sit at, if you need to stretch your legs . Close to the beach 1 mile.

Enjoyed our stay. The rooms were very clean, staff were pleasant and helpful and it has the best breakfast in town. Not only is it a hop, skip and a jump to the beach, its also close to grocery stores and shopping centers. Would definitely stay here again.

Best western has the best value for hotel stays I enjoy the breakfast the cleanliness and the convenience the only thing I didn't like about this hotel was the stairs but once I opened the door I was pleased

No cribs offered for a babies. No elevators in this hotel. Carpets are old and dingy in the guest rooms. Minimal channels on the cable television. No microwaves and no refrigerators in the rooms. Hallways and outside appearance were not so clean.

I will not stay here again. You can hear the freeway, if you have the windows open for the nice breeze. The room is dark and the beds were uncomfortable. I felt like I could have used a flashlight in the shower, it was that dark. The bathroom had lots of water damage that was just patched over. This hotel is not on the beach, but .6 mile walk to the beach (I thought I had read that it was on the beach). The staff is friendly, but the facilities are aged.

It's your average Best Western with clean sheets, hot running water, and a warm breakfast to help you greet the day. As far the facilities go, I can say very little as my group pretty much arrived, slept, ate breakfast, and left. However, our room was clean, the mattresses too firm for me (although my boyfriend was happy), and the thermostat worked. On location, this is located very close to a beautiful beach. You could walk there, but it's a bit of a trek. It's about a 5 minute drive into Marina and maybe 15-20 minutes to Monterey's Fisherman's Wharf and Fairgrounds. We came to Monterey for the Artichoke Festival, which is held at the Fairgrounds, and it was a very easy drive to get there from here. Breakfast is good. They offer waffles with a strawberry compote that is delicious, eggs, sausage, etc. Nothing fancy, but everything there looked fresh.

We enjoyed are stay at the best western Beach Dunes in Marina,Ca. Nice beach about a 10 min walk to beach and about 20 min drive to cannery row in Monterrey. The staff very helpful and friendly. Room clean ,nice set up for there continental breakfast. We would and have stayed here before.

Decided to stay in marina since it's not that far from Monterey and staying in Monterey seems pricey when this hotel is only 10-15 minutes away. You're only a short walk from the state beach which is a nice perk. Breakfast area has enough seating with a good variety of items. Only complaint was my room had a faint smell of cat urine. Next time got to bring some febreeze.

Nothing extrodinary. Clean. We did have the next door residents try to come through our internal door. The breakfast is what you would expected, the staff was very attentive and thoughtful. There is a very small gotten on site. The courtyard is charming. Try to get a courtroom room!

I can recommend this hotel highly. All the staff are most professional, kind and accommodating. The continental breakfast was outstanding, lots of different choices of food, drink, you could even make your own pancakes. The staff in attendance was most helpful and the place is very clean. Could not have asked for a better deal.

This hotel is in a nice location between Monterey and Santa Cruz. It's easy to access from the highway, quiet, and well-maintained. My room was clean and in good condition. I didn't take advantage of breakfast, so I can't speak to the quality.

My stay was over the weekend of May 12th for four nights with a friend. We were visiting Monterey but did not want to stay in Monterey, and found the Marina CA location perfect. Close to town and all the other places of business we might need and in walking distance to the beach. Arlene was super friendly on the phone when I called to confirm my reservations as well as when we checked in. She went above and beyond with a smile and positive attitude. All of the staff in the office and breakfast area were extremely helpful. Our room was clean and provided everything we needed. We will be staying at this location

Needed a motel for a week with AARP discount and BW matched the place I was looking for considering the length of my stay and budget. It was clean, breakfasts were good and had lots of variety, just seconds away from Marina state beach and staff were friendly. It's very close to the fwy 1. I would definitely come back here.

the rooms were nice and clean and area is quiet, the beach is a about 10 minutes walk. The breakfast was excellent!! . The personnel is very attentive and helpful. They have a children playground, a patio, and a Jacuzzi. Was not able to use it as we checked in very late at night, missed it!!

My stay was a good one and the front desk made sure I was well accommodated last minutes notice when it came to terms to booking the reservation at my employee/corporate rate online. She modified my stay when I arrived with no problem!

Our first room smelled and the second room had frayed carpet that looked like dog damage. The maintenance staff tried to argue with us over the room smelling but the office staff were all friendly and helpful.

You can't compare this to a higher class hotel, so for the class and price I thought it was great. Breakfast was better than expected, rooms were decent, staff was friendly and location wasn't bad. We stayed during a last minute holiday weekend trip to Monterey and didn't mind the drive from Marina. I would stay here again as a backup if rooms are sold out in town (Monterey).

It was a perfect location. The staff was accomodating and friendly. We stayed on the bottom floor freeway side which some have complained about the highway noise, however it was not loud or disruptive at all.

We stayed here to be near friends at the adjacent RV grounds, which was very convenient. The staff at this hotel is so friendly and helpful that it's tough to give a poor review. Yet, the non-smoking room clearly had been smoked in, and the condition of the tub (probably old and stained, as opposed to dirty) means we would never stay here again. The bathroom fan (not an option, as it came on with the light), sounded like a plane was taking off. And, there is considerable noise from the adjacent freeway.

Very nice beach within walking distance. Highway sounds from hotel if that matters to you. We got a low price for this hotel, so I can't complain too much. The stained fiberglass bathtub and bathroom is in dire need of renovation. Rooms fairly large, front desk friendly and helpful. Breakfast varied from OK to pretty good, depending on the day. The hotel has really great potential, it just needs major updating. Hot tub looked old and not worth a visit. I tossed my apple earbuds on top of my unzipped suitcase before leaving on our second morning, they were missing when we retuned that evening... don't want to accuse anyone, but thought I should mention it.

This was our second stay. The rooms were great, staff very helpful, and close to the beach. Was a little noisy in the evening because of kids. Much less expensive than staying in Monterey and only a short drive.

One morning there were biscuit breakfast sandwiches, the other morning there were scrambled eggs and sausage. Right across the street from Marina State Beach, you can walk or drive. 10 minute drive to Cannery Row and the Aquarium!

This is not a very cheap hotel, but it looks and feels like a super cheap motel. I was there for only one night, otherwise it would've been more annoying. Towels and sheets were not very clean, carpet was disgusting.

The rooms are quite modern, stylish and comfortable. We booked a sea view room, which was amazing. Wi-Fi was a struggle in the room ( reception staff was very helpful) and there is a small business centre, so it was ok. The dining room looks great, good choice of food. The hotel charged extra for parking which was a surprise as we were hotel guests.

Stayed for 6 nights There're systematically removing all refrigerators and microwaves from rooms. They have made cuts to all there services, little to no shampoo and soap. I've stay primary at BW where ever I go, this one is the absolutely the worse one. I'm a diamond member, these rooms are not worth more than $50. per/night. The motel 6 is a large upgrade from this hotel. I've never seen a BW hotel actually downgrade there rooms but this one is. Never stay here again !!!!!!!!!!!!

Basic clean hotel. The room was big enough and clean. The bathroom was small but clean. No refrigerator. Free wifi and parking. They let us check out 45 minutes later. It's very close to highway 101, but the room was quite.

We secured our reservation through Hotwire late in the check in date and got an excellent $64 rate. Room and location were well worth it. Free internet worked well, large rooms, average breakfast (no bananas or granola). Upon leaving in the morning my wife noticed old stains on the sheets that should have been eliminated before using. We would return especially if going to the beach across the street

I stay in Marina a lot for motorsports activities in this city and at Laguna Seca. I like the Best Western chain, so I tried this motel for the first time. I stayed in a 2 queen room. The room was clean and comfortable, with an easy chair, ottoman, and flat panel tv. There was no refrigerator or microwave in the room. The bathroom was clean and provisioned with plenty of towels. My room was quiet and I slept well. The free breakfast was ok with eggs, sausage, fresh fruit, cereal, bread, and juice. There weren't any lids for the coffee cups which prevented me from taking a fresh cup with me in the car on my departure. The soda machine was not working, but at least it didn't take my money.

I needed a place to sleep for a night and this place due, it's a older place very close to the beach. The rooms are clean but could use a make over. You will need a car if you like to go to a restaurant or shopping, the only thing you can walk to is the ocean (which is a big plus). For being a Best Western I was expecting more. I don't know if I'll stay here again.

Will stay here again when in the Area, Nice Ocean views, close to freeway to get around the Monterey area and see all the great spots while still getting my work done. Marine is less busy than the downtown area and the night views of the peninsula are great.

Loved the hotel. It was less than a 5 minute walk to the beach. Midway between Monterey, Santa Cruz, and Salinas so was nice to not travel far for anything. Close to restaurants, shopping, and gas. Will definitely stay here again.

Yuck. Stayed here to attend conference across the street at a very nice resort we couldn't afford and would not do so again. My room was clean, but furniture beat up & the window (on 1st floor facing parking lot) wouldn't lock or even close. I moved to another room. My colleague stayed in her assigned room until she turned on the shower next a.m. But no water came out of the faucet...only BUGS. The service she received was extremely sub-par in response to this problem, tho they eventually moved her to another room, too. To sum up: don't stay here.

Needed location, price, features...this was closest to need. Old but maintained, beds touch soft. Desk chair in room shredded, otherwise decor fine. Old motor inn, no parking in middle so if inside room good chance you'll be doing stairs. Breakfast selection very good but so many tables crammed in room, butted together,can't get to chairs plus no privacy. Staff very nice. Only one vending machine...was broke. Great location.

Our room(s) needed some attention from maintenance staff; the bathroom door hinges were really squeaky, the shower head needed some patching on the wall around it. It was very disappointing to return after a long day to find our rooms were not made up yet! We were ready for a shower and to relax, but had to request housekeeping and wait outside while they finished up. Luckily the weather was good. Also, we found a bra (presumably left by previous visitor!) on the floor near the luggage rack that had apparently been there when we checked in (it was black and not REAL obvious.) BUT, location was ideal, short drive into Monterey, but out of the high-rent district. The staff were very nice, and did respond to our request for cleaning.

The bad reviews on trip advisor are quite accurate. I would not be so harsh except for the fact that the room was $200/night mid Oct! For that price point, one would expect quality. Pros: Room spacious, location not too far from Monterey Cons: Flies in room, hair in tub, stains on walls. Old and run down exterior. Breakfast was bad. Only biscuits and gravy for main meal. Heard many complaints that all hotels at least offer scrambled eggs. Also room with musty smell, and poor ventilation. Only decided to go here because we had a discount. Definitely NOT worth the price. Also, with so many poor reviews you wonder why no changes have been made.

This should be a new franchise. Best Western Minus for the completely run down and dirty Best Westerns. Good location next to the beach, room cleanliness absolutely terrible. Needs desperately a remodel and a change a cleaning staff

Lauren treated us very well when we visited earlier this year. And Lauren was there for us again on this visit, helping get us into the same room (room 201; recommended). A great price (Priceline), a nice room, and friendly staff like Lauren will do it every time. This hotel is the best value on the peninsula.

Great hotel close to the beach and the exit on Highway 101. Large room, clean and neat. Quick and easy check in with sweet and enthusiastic receptionist. Super breakfast which was included in the reasonable price. In particular should be mentioned breakfast hostess Patty friendly and with a big smile, a good way to start the day. We will be back. The hotel is not flashy, so a good value for the price. The receptionist was helpful and friendly. The room was clean and everything functioned correctly (except the iron, which could not squirt water). We could hear the freeway traffic all night although not a deafening roar. The breakfast bar was subpar.

I've stayed at this hotel for that past three months and i've had nothing At all to complain about, clean rooms, wonderful staff, good breakfast, Although they could have bacon every once In a while everybody loves bacon.

I wasn't quite sure what to expect for the price but the staff went above my expectations. I have never had a continental breakfast where there was someone refilling beverages and picking up plates when finished eating. Location/proximity to beach and Monterey were why I chose the hotel. In the morning I did hear a little traffic noise but was pleased overall with the hotel. Beds were comfortable and room was clean.

We found food left int he fridge and the lights did not work when we entered the room. We had to walk in the dark to find a light source. The room also had a strange odor. My husband broke out in hives that night.

The Hotel is walking distance to the dunes and ocean beach. Beautiful sites and the sunset is breathtaking. The Hotel itself is average although clean and just 5 minutes Highway 1. Marina, has no organic or upscale dining.

Great location. Bed is comfortable, nice clean room, great breakfast, in room coffee, iron with board, small refrigerator. The stuff was very friendly and informational, and very friendly. You will enjoy your time. There is a small play ground for your toddles and a small picnic area. Our family will stay here again and again.

Definetly not my favorite Best Western stay. Really mixed experience with staff. Some were lovely and others were.... not the most pleasant. The room was alright. Nothing flashy, but a good place to go in and out to the beach from. There is a hot tub- no sort of shower or hose surprisingly.

We had a wonderful stay in this hotel that has extremely easy access to Highway 1. It is 10 minutes from the Monterey Bay Aquarium, and 15 minutes from Carmel, so close enough without being right in the middle of everything. It is close to a Walmart for any needs you may have and also plenty of dining for the more budget-friendly diners. There isn't a swimming pool at this hotel, but there is a hot tub, and if you don't want to be bothered by families of noisy children, in a hotel that is within walking distance of a beach (note: beach is rough water too dangerous for swimming) then this is a good quiet option. Perfect for the romantic get-away with fridge and microwave in the room, large comfortable rooms with spacious bathtubs and vanity on the outside of the bathroom. We were very comfortable, and enjoyed breakfast as late as 10:00 every morning. We are late sleepers, so that was very nice for us to get a complimentary breakfast everyday before heading out and having $100 lunches or dinners when we were in the more prestigious areas. Not too bad to drive in to Monterey or up to Moss Landing to watch the sea otters play, and plenty of good playing beaches all around the coastal area. We would definitely recommend this hotel, and even if you do have children, there is a fun playground for them to enjoy, and this hotel feels like it is in a safe area.

The Beach Dunes Best Western is located right off the highway so it's easy to get down to Monterrey in about 15 minutes (maybe less if you don't take the wrong exit). There is a beach about a 5 minute walk from the motel but it was windy and chilly during our stay so we didn't visit it. There is a small hot tub right next to the office, I think there's a bit of a fence around it. Free breakfast in the morning! The room was clean and the TV was good. The bathroom is quite small so you have to shimmy behind the door to close it. Otherwise, the shower was hot and no problems.

The room rate is good for the area, but the rooms are just average. There was too much noise carry over between the rooms, making sleep difficult. The pillows were of poor quality, at least there were many of them. The towels are old, scratchy and if they were mind I would throw them out.

This is a very pleasant place to stay. Has a small outdoor Jacuzzi I didn't know about until I checked out, but that was my fault for not looking around I guess. Every staff person was very nice, and made the stay that much nicer. The breakfast offered is more than simply "continental" which is great when you have a long day ahead of you; delicious coffee and hot food is always a welcome start to the day. The staff are pleasant and the place is kept clean.

Stayed here over a long weekend. Even with the discounted rate, I don't really think this property was worth the price. I try to be loyal to best western as I know what to expect and am comfortable with the level of product you get for the value. This location did not meet my expectations. I wasn't thrilled with the check-in process, where we had to wait since we arrived 12 minutes before check in started at 3pm, along with everyone else who filtered in up to 3 oclock. I would think it would be better to get people in their rooms a few minutes early rather then having a mass of annoyed people building up in the lobby. The room was alright Things could have been cleaner. Just little things really, but it adds up. The bedspread was stained, the shower curtain was stained, the coffeepot had bits of towel material in it and the towels were very dingy, thin and sad. Breakfast was fine. Usual complimentary breakfast fare. Yogurt, assorted breads, cereal, waffles, eggs and sausage. The hot items were a nice touch. When we returned to our room after hiking all morning we found that it hadn't been cleaned yet, around 3:30. So we just never had our room cleaned as we were leaving the next morning. We were on the side of the property by the road, but never had any problems with traffic noise. Did hear neighbors a bit, but nothing awful. I requested a room with a fridge as I had read from other reviews that not all rooms had them. There was a coffee pot but no microwave. There is no pool at this property, but there is a hot tub, which we didn't get a chance to use. Marina state beach is also right down the street. We had a chance to visit it as we were heading out. Overall, for the price, it didn't meet my expectations. If I were to plan another trip to the area, I would find somewhere else to stay.

The rooms were large and clean, First impression was of garbage piling up in hallway steps away from our doorway. Management was notified and it was gone by morning.Room house keeping was very late. They came to clean room after 5 pm. We had been gone all day and were tired. We passed and our room was cleaned early the next day. This hotel was a stone's throw away from the freeway so there was some freeway noise and the walls are thin. On a positive note, the breakfasts were excellent with sausage and eggs. Staff very friendly.Beds were comfortable.

This is a really good hotel. The rooms are really well appointed with comfortable beds and good bathroom. They are really clean and tidy. The breakfast is good with choice of cereals and some hot foods and other things The only aspect that was not up to the mark were the receptionists who were a bit miserable and unhelpful It is really close to the beach and Marina has some restaurants and a Wal-Mart. It is about 10 miles from Monterey.

we would book something else. Similar hotels were for much less price for post labor day night. We selected Best Western, because trusted this brand and recall they always have good location, service and are clean and convenient. In the room we had the furniture is old, bathroom small and inconvenient. Fan in the bathroom noisy. Switches do not work. Towels are old and do not look clean.

Stayed for 1 night for a stopover from driving up from LA to San Fran. It was ok for a night, but I wouldn't spend anymore time than that. The exterior and rooms were average, looked a little outdated, and not as clean as other hotel chains we stayed in on our trip. One pro is they provide a free breakfast which was ok, not amazing, but it's a free breakfast so you can't complain with that. The staff were also friendly and helpful.

Great place to stay for whale watching the next morning out of Moss Landing. Great make it yourself breakfast. Can be a bit noisy if other guests are inconsiderate. Helpful staff. 5 minute drive to Moss Landing. OK internet.

Called enroute to Morrow Bay. Checkin was pleasant and easy. The room was nice and clean with all the basic wants. Nestled between the highway and side road, noise maybe an issue for light sleepers (dependant on room position). Breakfast was nice with fresh waffles, English muffins, links and scrambled eggs plus more. Decent wifi. Hot tub but no pool...

First, I think it's important to explain what kind of a traveler I am so that the review holds more merit. My family travels quite frequently. We are not necessarily budget travelers but we also aren't the type that splurge much (especially on hotels). Our typical travels would have us staying at a Holiday Inn Suites or a Marriott Fairfield. Best Western has never been my favorite brand, however, for this trip, it was the only place I could find that was reasonable (barely). We traveled here for Monterey Car Week, when Motel 6's become $400 a night hotels. Craziness! We used a travel site to get a discount on the room as they were at about $400 a night for Car Week. We saved roughly half doing so. In my opinion, this was too much money for a Best Western, but it's all relative, right? We stayed at the Best Western Beach Dunes Inn for 5 nights. This is located in Marina which was about 8 miles to the airport in Monterey and maybe 10 or so to the downtown exit. It was very convenient. Upon arrival, we were immediately checked in (even though it was about 4 hours early). Our request for a room facing the center courtyard for quiet was accommodated happily. The staff was extremely friendly every time we interacted with them. The room was ok. You could see that some updates had been done. The TV was flat panel, the bedspreads were updated. The carpet seemed old, but everything was clean. The rooms heating/cooling operate with a wall thermostat and turn on/off an under the window unit. It was not too loud, but also not quiet. We had a fridge in the room (not all rooms have one) and a coffee maker but no microwave. The room was spacious and the vanity was outside of the shower, which is always nice for getting ready in the morning while others shower. Everything was very clean. The beds were on the firm side, but not too firm in my opinion. The sheets were a little scratchy for my taste, but I'm pretty spoiled with super soft sheets at home, so I may be biased. The pillows came in a variety of firmnesses. Some of the firmer ones seemed really lumpy to me, but I prefer soft anyway. The walls are definitely thin, you could hear the conversations in the next room fairly clearly. We had a full house when we stayed but our one neighbor (we were on a corner) was very considerate so it wasn't an issue. I could see potential for an issue though. I'd recommend a top floor corner for best odds of quiet. We were across from the office and it was very quiet except for the morning that the food delivery came at 7am, but what are you going to do? This sort of thing doesn't bother me, but in case it does you, we had two lamps that didn't work properly in the room. One strobed after being shut off and the other had a short so it wouldn't stay lit. We didn't alert the staff until we left because it's just not a big deal to us. The property was decent. There was a hot tub, but no pool. The location for Marina Beach is awesome - it's about a 5 minute walk to get there. The breakfast was your standard fare and for whatever reason, had the best breakfast sausage my family has ever had, haha! They had make-your-own waffles, make-your-own pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs, bagels, bread, yogurt, fruit cups, juices, coffee etc. One morning they didn't do the sausage and instead provided biscuits and gravy. Pretty typical, but well stocked. We brought it up to our room each day with a tray. I do wish we'd had a table in the room, but we made due. The lobby had fresh cookies each evening and the front desk provides decent toothbrushes, razors, shaving cream, toothpaste, etc if you forget yours. All in all, I would stay here again if there wasn't something else available. I'd say mostly the thin walls and the sheets would be my deterrent, but again it wouldn't prevent me from staying. =)

Staff at the front desk were friendly. The breakfast was good. The room was clean. It is very easy to access but we didn't hear much from trafic on the freeway. It is close to Monterey and surroundings of interests if you have a car.

Inadequate handicap parking. Nice TV, but terrible TV reception and not picture adjustable. Skimpy breakfast. No microwave in room. Extremely small bathroom. Clean room and beds. Nice welcome package in room on arrival.

Liked the proximity to the beach and just a short drive to any sightseeing. Front desk gave us a guide to lots of dining options in Marina. Staff were all very nice and courteous. Even though this hotel is right off the freeway, the traffic noise was minimal in our particular room. However, other guests were loud and banged their luggage around late at night. Walls are thin. Our coffee pot was not cleaned out from a previous guest..old coffee still in it. YUCK! The breakfast area is extremely small and there is not a good flow for serving food. Too crowded for staff to get by to clean up or replenish food. Wasn't even worth the trouble on the second day.

Clean room, good internet in the room, staff were nice, and breakfast was fine. Wall is a little thin. We could hear snoring from the next room. Freeway noise was the biggest thing we didn't like. But, the lodging rate was much cheaper compared to some hotels in Monterey and was only a 15 minute drive to the Aquarium. So, a good value overall.

The staff was very efficient, friendly, and helpful. It offers a free breakfast with a variety of choices. The location on a cul-de-sac is within walking distance of the beach and across the street from a state park. Although it is off the highway, the rooms are fairly quiet. The courtyard offers outside seating and a hot tub. The hotel needs to be renovated and updated. The price is too high for what you receive. With a little work and more attention to cleaning, this would be a nice hotel for families or business travelers.

Clean room, awesome breakfast (even had fresh biscuits and gravy!). Perfect location close to CSUMB, which was the purpose of our visit. Front desk extremely helpful when smokers were outside our room. They dealt with it pleasantly and expediently.

I love visiting Monterey but can't afford the hotels near the wharf. We decided to try this hotel since we drive by it all the time. Price was reasonable and close enough to Monterey for us. Upon picking up our aquarium tickets in the morning, the receptionist alerted us to a room available for early check in. That was great cause now we didn't have to leave our luggage in the car all day. Then the rest of the stay they took care of us like we were staying in a grand hotel. I love their service efforts. Great people.

Staff is friendly but hotel needs a spruce up and some cleaning. Desk in room was dusty as was the tv stand and especially behind the tv. Spider webs on the light stand and condom wrapper found under the bed. My youngest feet, knees and hands were black with dirt from the carpet after playing with her toys for a short time. Amenities basic and very limited tv selection and no channels for young children. Great location, close to the beach and nice play area for children. Just needs a good cleaning and some added amenities.

I'm pretty comfortable with most Best Western's. The only reason I chose this location was to try something different and qualify for the $50 gift card which BW deceived me.. We also received a recommendation from a friend. Its OK, definitely close to the beach, great for walking my dog. People very friendly. I, I, um um.. daughter says "Bougie and high maintenance". Well the rooms are mediocre, um the type of hotel guests ran the gamut from um from decent families trying to save a buck (like myself) to those of a suspicious nature. Did not like the idea that my room, faced the outer exterior, parking lot of the hotel. Reminded me of a decent Motel 6. It was not the most kept up location. As I walked from the hotel lobby back to my room, I saw boxes (one labeled zig zags) of trash under the stairwells. The shrubbery was not cut back, anything could have been nesting in it. Went to breakfast the kitchen, fairly large I was pleasantly surprised but, more astonished with the counter-tops, food everywhere. Another guest mentioned it me as well (see photos, partial). Because of that I was reluctant to eat anything that was not wrapped. What was most disturbing about this is as I was leaving, walking through the lobby, there were the people behind the desk, then what looked like a housekeeper just standing there chatting, doing nothing.. the two desk people were talking to one another. So I mentioned to the housekeeper, "That kitchen is filthy". Before we left a family member visited the kitchen said it was clean. What I remember about the other Best Westerns is there was always someone replenishing items, cleaning as people came in and out. It was a constant process. Great open parking... If I were to try this location again, I'd ask for my room to be in the center.. maybe.. Well not sure I'd stay here again unless there was no where else or I was just bumming around Monterrey.. I can just go to Motel 6 around the corner... I still left room housekeeping a tip.. (the images of the room were upon checking out)

Great location, minutes from Monterey. It worked out nice. Used points so not sure how much it usually cost. Would recommend. Has free breakfast but we did not eat it as we woke up too late. Maybe next time.

Purposely chose to stay in Marina while visiting....this property is older but within walking distance of Marina State beach. Room was large and comfortable and a good value for the area. We knew it would be foggy so no surprise there. Breakfast was decent though crowded but plenty of food. Would stay again.

Very glad we booked at this Motel. This website helped us choose the Best Western Beach Dunes Inn. Hotel is out from the main city, closer to CSUMB. That was great because we could avoid the traffic jam going into downtown Monterey primetime on the weekend and just stick close to the college (which is real ugly, btw. MPC is stunning in comparison). The reviews had said rooms were motel-like. True. But a nice size with a great tub, good king bed and reading area. Beach close within walking distance on both sides of the main road to the hotel. Son loved the motel hot tub after standing on the cold shoreline. This was a good place to book because the staff was personable and I was able to confirm in person before our arrival and get into the room earlier. I had to work over the trip but didn't want to bring the laptop due to not wanting to leave it in the car for our outdoor events prior but that was no problem as the hotel has a computer and printer in the lobby with free wifi (which is also in rooms). Breakfast was good. I am up early so only 2 other people in breakfast room at that time. The later times were jammed with loads of guests.

Another Best Western experience as expected. Big clean rooms, the included breakfast decent for a Best Western, free and ample parking, and a Jacuzzi. My son was disappointed that there was no pool. The hotel is located near the beach, but strong cold winds and waves and a freezing ocean made swimming impossible, so a pool would actually have been nice. Also there are no restaurants or shops in the immediate vicinity of the hotel, so a car is mandatory, and your night is best spent in Monterey.

I booked a reservation through Hotwire last minute a couple hours before... It was one of the best hotel experiences My family has had.. The pillows were fresh as well as the blankets and the staff was very welcoming. Their spa is amazing! Definitely wont be our last time there.

Not a deluxe hotel but this is as good as you can get for the money... clean, everything in working condition, good Wi-Fi, breakfast in the morning, outdoor Jacuzzi, 5 min walking to the beach. The only complaint is that the power outlets are all very loose. It's very hard to keep chargers or whatever you plug in to stay connected.

Restful motel outside of busy Monterey. We stayed here after a trip to the aquarium and enjoyed time near the ocean which is just a short drive or walk from the motel. We were able to enjoy a leisure breakfast of standard items; the hot food was hot, and there was a very good selection. I have stayed here before and would choose it again.

It was just what we needed- close to Monterey, affordable, clean, spacious enough for our whole family. The town of Marina also had lots of good food, a great discount grocery store really close to the hotel. We were really glad we chose this hotel.

A fine alternative to the pricey Monterey hotels. Right near highway 1, so you can easily get to Monterey. Terrific location near the dunes and the park. Best ocean access is through the Sanctuary Resort. A good solid 2-queen room, free parking, and great mid-week deals to be had through PriceLine's back door. Hot breakfast, also free. Lauren at the front desk was wonderful.

5 min walk to marina beach , budget hotel 25 min drive from expensive Monterey. Convenient if u have your vehicle for visiting Monterey , Carmel, point lobo reserve. Food and shopping options with 2 kms. Family friendly budget hotel with breakfast, friendly staff!

The room was big and nice , with comfortable bed , nice sofa set. The hotel has tie up with Monterey bay aquarium and provide discounted tickets and 2 days entry in one day price. The breakfast was nice with continental and hot items. The breakfast server was full of energy and smiling. The person at reception was helpful. The only problem was with toilet fan integrated with light and wish they were separate. Toilet accessories were ok.

Excellent hotel with GREAT beds. On the beach and near restaurants and shopping. Very helpful and great staff. Very happy to find that they had rooms available for our entire party over the holiday. We had a later check in and they accommodated all of our needs.

We decided to stay at the hotel for our weekend trip to Monterey for the 4th of July, upon arrival to the hotel we immediately noticed that the hotel gave a very cheap motel vibe. The bed was rock hard, and made for an extremely uncomfortable nights "rest". There were tiles falling from the all in the bathroom, along with several very sloppy patchwork jobs in the bathroom as well. The breakfast wasn't much better, the waffle iron was covered in sticky burned syrup which caused our fresh waffles to be covered in burned residue. Overall, I think we would have been better at a Motel 6 quite frankly as this bestwestern was by the far the worse location my family has every visited. I will definitely not be back, and will be sure to make sure everyone I know does the same.

I took a chance with Hotwire and got this hotel. I only paid $50/night. For that price, we were pleased. The one down side was that there was not a refrigerator. The bathroom coud use upgrading as well. It was great to have a free breakfast though which worked out fine. It was your typical continental and was ok. No bagels though - only English muffins and bread while we were there. They did have wafflels and a hot dish each day though. The room was clean though and the locaton couldn't have been better for our day trips to Monterey, Big Sur and Santa Cruz. Maria State Beach is also right there and has fabulous sunsets. We would stay here again.

Comfortable beds, clean rooms, good location, staff was so good and so nice. Breakfast was good. Could use a little updating, but it was a reasonably priced Best Western. Will stay there again if we are in the area.

We enjoyed two nights at th Besw Western Beach Dunes Inn. It was clean and comfortable and those are my two major concerns when traveling. The location was perfect. It was central to tour the coast on Rt. 1 and visit some sweet communities along the way.

The hotel is just north of Monterey and is a quick drive to Cannery Row. Beach Dunes Inn is off 1 on the ocean-side, so you can take a short hike to the beach. There is no pool, but they do have a hot tub.

This hotel is very reasonable and is near everything in Monterey. It has plenty of parking. The rooms are clean and provided enough room for our family of four. The breakfast is good. Hotel staff very helpful and friendly. Beautiful sunsets on the beach near by.

The bed was so uncomfortable I had to sleep in chair. Also, while encouraging water conservation, it took over 5 minutes (of wastage) for hot water to arrive at the shower. Not a good design! We chose this lodging to be near a Moss Landing whale-watching tour the following morning. The preferred B&B could not offer a timely breakfast. We have stayed in Best Western affiliates world-wide and this is the most disappointing.

Near the beach and close to area markets and restaurants. The staff was friendly and the rooms were good: clean, relatively comfortable, nice breakfast. The hot tub in the center courtyard was enjoyable. There was a nice playground for children at one end of the complex. If you're not traveling with children, request a room near the front. Enjoy a stroll along the beach just a quarter of a mile away.

We were on a budget and found this place to stay instead of Monterey, which was outside of our budget. The room was clean and nice sized. It was also nice to be able to do laundry ($2/wash per load and 25cents per 8 minutes of drying). It was hard to find the ice machine - just outside of the hot tub area with the vending machines. Donna was super nice and very helpful. Breakfast was ok-the area is kind of crowded and they were out of some things. Once we found someone to replenish them, it was all good. It was also a quick walk to the state park/beach to watch the sunset.

Arrived late, but I felt as if they were waiting, expecting us. It was like they knew who I was when we walked in. Great first impression. First room we were assigned to was not serviced and had to go back to office for another room. Second room was 1 bed, needed 2. Third room was okay. Had a slight odor at first, but I think it went away. Once we were finally settled everything was fabulous. Enjoyed the stay. My granddaughter was a little upset. She had her heart set on a swim. No pool. That's my fault for not reading the amenities properly. However, we were just staying the night and leaving in the morning. We all had a comfortable nights rest and a good breakfast. Just wish other travelers were mindful of keeping the dining area clean or asking for assistance if they are not sure how to use items. It was a little messy.

I was originally aiming for a place in Carmel, working on my bucket list, but since everything was booked or priced out of reach, we settled on this location. The reviews were positive, but my heart was pining for Carmel. Boy was I lucky I didn't get what I wished for. This Best Western is wonderfully located at the entrance to both Marina State Beach and Marina Open Space Preserve. It is literally at the entrance to both! These are lowkey sites just a stroll away from BW's entrance. The room was clean and confortable(esp beds). Service was always spot on. Breakfast was : freshly made waffles, eggs, sausage, cereal, etc. Nicely maintained premises. Walls a tad thin but no biggie. Would like to return to take advantage of the extensive bike paths that cross near there and head out to the Monterey Peninsula. Love this place!

My son and I checked in at this hotel around 10:30pm on may 20th. lady at front desk was nice at checking in soon as we went in room (203) was smelling bad , on the bed there was something , under the bed there was tennis ball , had long hair in shower, all the furniture was very dusty so i called front desk and she moved me in different room (130) again everything was same as first room except no tennis ball , very small bath room . my son was so tired so i didnt complained about second room, next day we went for breakfast soon as we entered my son told me that its smells like dirty rag also scrambled egg was rubbery ,counter was dirty around the hotel area is very nice but hotel needs lot of improvement. for sure in future i am not coming at this hotel.

Perfect location between Monterey and Phil's Fish Market (Yum!) in Moss Landing. Short walk to beach. Staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Room was lovely and comfortable. Close to restaurants in Marina.

There are so many other hotels in this area, don't waste your money on this one. One of the worst Best Westerns I have ever stayed at, very noisy. The staff is not helpful. Although the sheets appeared clean, the outer covers were not. You may think it's a fair rate, but please look elsewhere. Breakfast is standard fare.

This is not the Four Seasons but I will be back. Mostly because the management is buttoned up. The rooms are basic but clean, neat and, you're across the street from the beach! Beds and pillow are comfortable. A nice, hot breakfast is included. The friendly management staff went above and beyond to help me print important documents on two separate occasions. I won't hesitate to recommend the Best Western for a straight forward, no frills accommodations.

This is a nice, affordable place, very close to the Marina State Beach--very short walk. It is quiet. There is a good restaurant across the road. It is a nice place for a get-away for rest, and Monterey and all attractions are not far away.

Actually really happy with the cleanliness and comfort of the beds. I though $189/night was astronomical for a Best Western but grateful it was at least clean. They were SUPER friendly and we experienced great service from start- almost to finish. A day after we checked out I realized I'd left my nice king sized pillow. When I called to inquire since we were still in town they took my name and number and said they'd call me back. Never heard back... Maybe it got thrown out? Their pillows are pretty small so they could not have mistaken mine for theirs. All well. All in all a good experience. Wished I hadn't left my pillow.

Glad I stayed here !! No problems. Staff great, room great, breakfast just right for the beginning of my day for a round of golf at Poppy Hills Golf Club. . . I came down with my wife last time to visit my son and it was just as good so I knew that it would be my first choice this time on a golf trip with some friends. Worked out perfectly. I was looking for an inexpensive hotel/motel in Monterey area. Nothing to brag on the amenities, just basic room, bed, recliner and a desk. Breakfast was packed, so I skip it. If you are looking for a cheap alternative this is the place. If I book a room at Hyatt, Hilton or Marriott; it will set me back a minimum of double the price I paid for at Best Western. If you just need a place to sleep and shower, this is your place.

Had a nice stay at Best Western Beach Dunes in Marina. Being right by the beach is what we were looking for. Having a helpful staff that allowed us to check-in before 3pm was appreciated so that we could change and enjoy the beach earlier.

Good location near Monterey, only 10 minutes drive to be in the downtown! The hotel is also about 100 feet from the beach. Very pleasant! The rooms are calm and the hotel is very easy to find, near the highway 1

Last Friday night we decided to head South toward Monterey. We found the Best Western Beach Dunes Inn on the Internet. The very nice lady running the front desk was named Diane. She had a room available and held it for us with out asking for our credit card. I thought, well that is really nice! We were an hour away from the property. When we arrived Diane upgraded our room. The property is older than some but has been tastefully decorated and well maintained.

I love the location of this hotel. I'll stay here whenever I need to be in the Monterey area. The staff is super friendly and so very helpful! We loved the free wifi and the breakfast is great with lots of selection.

This hotel was clean and a great short walk to the beach. The furniture is dated along with the carpet, but it is what I expected for the price. The breakfast no so great, might consider eating out for breakfast. No pool and the spa is small. But for a hotel basically on the beach the price was right! The staff was very friendly.

What makes it for this hotel is the price. You will find the rooms to be clean and roomy, a so so breakfast and nice folks at the front desk. However, you may see garbage cans overflowing, outlets that don't work, low water pressure at times, and a bland choice of breakfast items. The utensils were soft and bent easily. Wouldn't even cut my waffle! OMG I was told they will be upgraded. Had some guitar players next door and desk called them and got them quiet for the nite but next morning back at it. We were checking out but I was ready to complain and have them evicted. This property is ok, the price for area good, Clean, but not up to the usual BW standard.

good rest stop not by water or fancy amenities. service was good and breakfast included eggs which was nice also. it was late at a check in so we left by 10 am so it was fine for our needs. thank you. front dest lady was nice!

Clean, reasonably nice for level of hotel (2 star). Rooms fairly spacious but walls were thin. Sounded like there was someone above us all night but we were on the second floor. Location fine. Everything about what you'd expect.

Enjoyable stay with appealing location. Definitely need a larger Jacuzzi. Pool is not mandatory esp. with the ocean close in proximity. An exercise room, albeit small is OK, but would be nice to work-out after breakfast.

The staff at this hotel were very friendly. The room was clean and comfortable. The grounds were clean and easy to get to the rooms from the parking lot. The play structures were ideal for small children and helped them wind down after a long day in the car. Close to Marina State Beach and within walking distance for those who are fit.

hot tub not in working order... should've provided a discount... the breakfast left a lot to be desired.. mainly not enough room to eat for patrons. The staff was accommodating, but I knew better than to ask why the hot tub wasn't working... I guess it was closed for service or something; but, when I come to stay somewhere targeting a room with continental breakfast and hot tub... I would hope these to be up to par.

Competent, dated, very basic motel at reasonable price for the pricey area. Nothing to write home about except: 1. Friendly front desk help. 2. Great breakfast included in our stay. Plentiful, tasty, varied. Good coffee. Well-provisioned (by the manager, as her breakfast person missed the shift). 3. Location, moments away from the beach and a short drive to lots of retail & restaurants. Would I stay here again? Yes.

Had money stolen while staying at hotel. Happened when out sight seeing and the maid was in our room. This was reported to the manager and she told us she would follow through and contact us. Management never followed through with investigation.

This was a very comfortable, safe place to stay while we visited the Monterey area. We loved the close proximity to the beach! Clean, safe, and all of the staff members we dealt with were very pleasant and the breakfast was very good. The ability to purchase the special "Buy 1 day, get 2 days" admission to the Aquarium was a great bonus. We didn't have to stand in line at the aquarium and had a 2nd day's admission too!

A spontaneous stop brought us here to wait out a rain storm. Woke to walk across the street to walk out the dunes to the beach. Magical! The rooms are fine yet a bit close to the highway noise. Great location to walk the coastline! Breakfast was adequate with make your own waffles.

We had the pleasure to stay at the marina Best Western, and were immediately impressed with Naomi. She was was very pleasant and made our check in very welcome. We needed some milk and Naomi did get some, even asking if we wanted 2% or vitamin D. This was presented on a tray as well as some extra towels we asked for. The morning staff was excellent, making sure we were able to get our coffee and orange juice, even as they were closing for breakfast. The Easter decorations made it feel festive as the warmth of the staff and room. Julio, thank you for taking some time to say hi. When we left, we were presented with a nice gift basked of yummies. We stayed at the marina for two nights and would come back!! The only drawback was not having a luggage cart to take our luggage to rooms. The marina is only 3 minutes from the beach, close to shops and walmart and gas stations. Only a few minutes from Highway 1. We highly recommend the marina

The room had a terrible odor, there was freeway noise, and noise from other guests walking by and outside my door. Car alarms were going off. There were ants in the towels and in the bed sheets and pillows. First arrived to check in no hotel clerk in the lobby rang the bell 4 times about 10 minutes later clerk showed up. Manager appearance and manners were very disheveled. And a little agitated.

This hotel is across the street from the dunes, which makes it cozy and convenient for beach goers. The rates are very reasonable and a high end lodge is within walking distance if you want to have a nice meal at their restaurant. The room was pretty clean, but hadn't been vacuumed thoroughly (pieces of cereal on the floor). They offer a discount for CSUMB families. My 2-queen room was quite large. There is quick access to Hwy 1. I will definitely stay there again.

Traveling north on Ca. 1 looking for a place to spend the night. Booked this motel and we're very pleased. Relatively new, a little tricky to get to, pay attention to the instructions. Property just has a small hot tub, right outside the office. No pool for the kids. Rooms were very clean and comfortable, bed was great.

Great hotel for the price! It was clean and cozy, right next to the beach. I would absolutely go again and already recommended it to my friends and family. Service was awesome, rooms were clean and location was excellent.

We enjoyed our stay. Easy in, easy out. It had a good breakfast just to get you started. I really enjoyed the location where the beach was a short walk away. The area is clean and the beds are comfortable. I liked the light sensor in the bathroom. The shower area was tight but not inconvenient. I would recommend this Inn for a nice stay as it is close to Monterey without the major cost.

we moved from the motel next door and hoped for the 10 USD we are paying more to get more for our money room smelled after smoke and was very outdated luckily we could used that as excuse and we got the money refunded

Room was okay, price was low-ish, but we could not establish and hold an internet connection. Room really could use a refrigerator! The room smelled a bit bleachy upon arrival. Lots of facilities in the area.

I love the location of this hotel but I some things are lacking. We stayes there two past Thanksgiving weekends and my biggest problem with this place is the lack of secure wifi. When I made the reservations I was told they had secure wifi but they don't. During the first stay I was told there was something wrong with the server. Because of this I missed my plans for Black Friday online shopping! The next year, I was told again they have secure wifi, once there I found they did not. They pretended they did, until I came don't to the office to explain to them they don't. This time they told me there were changing internet provider, blah, blah, so again I missed my plans for Black Friday shopping. Another disappoint is that unlike most Best Westerns they don't have microwaves and fridges in all rooms, so we had to move to another room that did. And finally the room we ended up in was very drafty (some basic door weather stripping can take care of that). In summary, I will not be staying here again till they have secure wifi, unless I stay for a very short overnight stay.

Considering the price the hotel presents a somewhat of a value. However, there is plenty of room for improvements in the areas of room decor and furnishings, Bathroom appearance is sub par. Its size is tiny - one has to move into a corner in order to close the door. Bath tub in our room had scratches and looked worn out. The pros include lower price and short walk to the beach

Nice room, comfy bed, short walk to beach across the street..short walk to Kula Ranch restaurant...friendly staff Reasonable price. The beach is beautiful and not crowded at all. Great relaxing area! Shopping is close as well. Overall greta experience!!

Rooms were dated but adequate. Breakfast was surprisingly satisfying - eggs, sausage,waffles, yogurt, fruit ,cereal, breads - helped the budget to be included in the price. Tons of pillows, but be sure to ask for extra blankets at the front desk. Plus: Walking distance to the beach - Minus: right on the freeway. Overall, met our needs.

We have stayed in numerous hotels over the last 5 years in Marina and Carmel. The Dunes Inn was very nice and the breakfast was great. Wonderful location and a fantastic price point. Very quiet location.

Booked 3 rooms for a 1 night stay in Monterey en route from Los Angeles to San Francisco. Had requested 3 rooms in quiet location not near road & close to each other. The rooms were on 2nd floor - 2 together & 1 just one room away & not near the busy road.Parking Free. No restaurant on site but takeaways can be ordered in. My husband was really sick while staying, The front desk was superb (Lexi) nothing too much trouble. she was happy to help the youngsters order food in but they decided against it. She also made sure my husband had suitable plastics available for the following day travel north. My in room coffee maker was not working so Lexi (May) advised me where I could get hot water. Rooms were clean warm & comfortable. There was free wifi & basic breakfast (eggs/toast/juice/tea/coffee/yoghurt/fruit) included in the cost, All members of staff I came into contact with were pleasant & polite. 'The Dunes' is just a short,safe walk from the Dunes but no sea view as the Dunes themselves are too high. Lovely view from the top. I would have no hesitation at staying at this typical 3*American Inn with a 5* service.

This was a good short stay. The staff tried to meet our requests and the breakfast area was really busy! The service person was really hustling to keep things picked up and supplied. Although there is no elevator, if you park on the back side there are only 7 steps you would need to go up. In front, it looks intimidating with about 2 levels of 15 steps each to get to second floor. Almost cancelled reservation until they mentioned that there was the back way with only 7 steps!! They must be upgrading as we had adjoining rooms and the heating systems were different in each one. We had to get help to figure it out.

I book rooms on the internet for my family and the friend's family. We had a good night in the hotel. The room is clean and cozy, the service is perfect. The city is quiet and beautiful. It is a best option for leisure.

Very clean, great spa in central location. Breakfast area was pretty messy, but other than that.....great hotel and location for the price! Our family loved it and will definitely consider again. Very close to Marina State Beach.

Check-in and Check-out process was very smooth. Also staff at reception was caring and helpful. Room was clean. No microwave in room however staff allowed us to use Microwave at breakfast area. Also staff helped us to guide on the places to visit around Monterery.

The hotel is located very near Marina Beach. We love to go for an early morning walk there. It is a beautiful beach. The hotel is clean, comfortable and has a great breakfast. The beds were comfortable. We like to be able to pull down blankets and sleep with a sheet. We could do that.

The check in was fast and easy and the live in Manager is sweet as can be, but you can clearly tell the owner is not paying attention to this property. My son had to use the restroom in the lobby, when we walked in the restroom it seemed clean but my eyes lied the toilet seat had a big stain on it, so i had to suspend my son in the air. The front desk girl was nice and assisted us to our room and recomened were to park so we are closer to our room. The room was not what i expected. I was greeted with a old leather arm chair that was missing a piece of it. The bathroom was shockingly small , I can stand in the middle of the room and touch both opposing walls. The only shink was in the outside off the "restroom". It had a towel rack that had no towel, the room had no closet....it has a rack were i can hang my jackets but that is about it. The skirt of the bed had hols in it, the curtains were out dated, some not all the furniture did not match completely with the other furniture. I do appreciate the fact that they have sprinklers in the room, in case of a fire but they are the ugly silver old ones. Not to mention they are dirty. The only day i took a shower their i noticed the shower walls were dirty. My room was in much need of a deep clean not to mention a dusting. I am glad we only went their for three days and those three days we spend most of the day out. I will NOT stay in that Best Western again.

Next to State Park inc. Beach on Pacific and also near good eating spot, Kulu Ranch. Had an excellent Handicapped or very Accessible room with correct amenities. Provided immediate Maintenance Svs. when requested and Front Desk provided information about the surrounding area!

Front desk check in was flawless. Sweet girl at check in. Never saw her again! Checked into room to find shockingly shabby and beat up leather chair. It was a turn off! Why leave such a piece of garbage in a hotel room? It was blocking the connecting door! Could it be an additional safety device? Nope! Just a dirty old eye sore. In the morning I told Naomi what a mess the chair makes of the room. She brushed me off. I tweeted about the chair and Naomi. I was told Naomi would be reaching out to me. She never did so I did! She was rude. No flowery description or detail needed. Rude is wrong! Naomi told me "we already spoke about this! Why would you contact corporate?" Not what I expected and not very flattering to be put on the spot. Truth is this hotel does not live up to my standards or Best Western standards. The next night I checked into the Hilton Garden Inn in Monterey. What a difference it makes when you have pride in your property and it shows! When in Monterey stay at Hilton!

Aloha! My stay with Best Western started off great. The girls at the front desk are awesome and they're very friendly/knowledgeable about the area. The problem that I was kind of shocked by that left a bad feeling when I left was that I felt like I was treated like I didn't matter from management at the Monterey, Dunes Road location. The second day I was in the hotel, I went to grab a cup for water in my room and I found marijuana, about the size of a fifty cent coin in between the cups. I called the front desk to let them know about finding drugs in my room and the front desk girl told me she would talk to a manager. The girl called me back a few minutes later and told me her manager told her that it is not from one of your room service people, it must have been from one of the previous people that stayed in my room. I was then told to flush the marijuana down the toilet. I was a bit confused at how this situation was dealt with, but I let it slide. The next morning, I grabbed breakfast, then went back to my room and see the guy in the room next to me sticking his head out of his door and the stench of marijuana filled the hallway. As soon as he saw me, he closed his door. I went in my room, once again, feeling weird about marijuana appearing on your property. I let front desk know the next morning when they asked me how my trip went...I came back home still with the lingering confusion of what was going on. (And the power went out for a full day as well! Which I know isn't your fault, it was a problem for the Monterey area. Your people never apologized for the inconvenience and once again, customer service wasn't that great from your management...The girls in the front did their very best.) I don't know and I don't care who brought drugs onto the property or who's fault it was that the power went out for the entire day. The point is, the way management dealt with issues was very bad. I don't think I will ever stay at a Best Western again and do not recommend it to anyone. I loved what Hotwire did, but I believe that the problem was that your management is not well trained on how to deal properly with customer service. I felt like I got treated like a second class citizen. The amenities were great and what you're doing is great, but there's a missing piece to this all and it's customer service! -Stephanie Villalobos

I have stayed at Best Western in eight US states, Hilton, Comfort Inn & Suites, La Quinta, Omni, and Holiday Inn. The Best Western Dunes Inn, in Marina, California had the best staff I have dealt with, of all the hotels & motels I have stayed. They make constant efforts to maintain their facility inside and outside, the staff members were very pleasant and readily available when I needed assistance. The room was clean and very comfortable. While there is no pool (facility is walking distance to the beach), the outdoor jaccuzi was a wonderful surprise to this weary traveler.

I thought it was a great area . Nice motel. Loved the outside with tables and chairs and hot tub. I thought the prices were a little steep especially seeing we had two children and I wasn't sure we were supposed to get them free. We had to bring a portable baby crib which cost us an extra $50 on airline. Nice if they would have a few on hand. Our bed did need new pillows.

We stayed here for 1 week Friday-Friday. It was a business/family trip. In the past 6 months we have stayed at numerous hotels all along the southern & northern coast. I was really impressed with this Best Western! The staff is friendly and goes above and beyond! The rooms are clean, beds are comfortable. Even though it is right next to highway 1 we did not hear any freeway noise. We stayed in 2 rooms that were at the end right next to the highway. You do need to request a fridge & microwave because not all rooms have. The wifi is a little slow at peak times. But that is the only negative that we noticed. Not sure what the other reviewers experienced. The cleaning staff is great as well. Really friendly and they go out of their way for a Best Western! We recently stayed at a Marriot Residence Inn which was triple the price. The staff does not compare. It is across the street from the Khula Steak House which was really convenient. Our water pressure was great in both rooms. Everything was clean and dusted throughly. We will be back soon and I will recommend to all our friends and family!

The hotel is located in a quiet area near the beach. The desk clerk was friendly and helpful. The beds were very comfortable and the breakfast was more than adequate and included scrambled eggs. The price was quite reasonable.

We stayed one night at this motel and thought it was very adequate. The rooms were clean and well maintained and the continental breakfast was standard and good. It was close to Moss Landing where we booked a whale watching trip.

Property was overall comfortable, pillow case unclean, Kleenex empty, refrigerator smelly and no water pressure. Beds comfortable but could use upgrade. Good location for Monterey area and beach access is good but a hike from the property.

We stayed here as part of a large group (25+ rooms). The staff is great, the breakfast is free and pretty good. Internet is free but slow at peak times. Beds and pillows comfy; shower has adequate+ pressure. Room amenities are basic (e.g., shampoo/conditioner combo). Overall quiet and restful if you need a clean reasonably priced place to sleep in the area. It's right off CA-1 so getting places is simple but you must drive.

Was with a group attending a car event. The hotel worked great, friendly and helpful staff. Found my room not fancy but clean and a good bed. Breakfast is the hotel norm but good, the room is a little crowded. Parking is good & well lite. Wi Fi is a bit slow but works fine for E-Mail
