Hotels in Saint-Brieuc: discover the gateway to North Brittany
Summary: Best Western offers two hotels in Saint-Brieuc, prefecture of the Côtes-d'Armor: the Best Western Plus Hôtel de Robien (4 stars), near the station, and the Best Western Le Duguesclin (3 stars), set in the heart of the pedestrian town centre. Both properties make it easy to explore the bay of Saint-Brieuc, Cap Fréhel or the Île de Bréhat, whether your stay is for leisure or business.
Saint-Brieuc: a Breton town between heritage and the open sea
Prefecture of the Côtes-d'Armor department, Saint-Brieuc lies at the head of a bay classified as a nature reserve, halfway between Rennes and Brest. The town combines a dense historic centre — the fortified Saint-Étienne Cathedral, half-timbered houses, Renaissance mansions — with direct access to nature: beaches, cliffs and coastal paths are just minutes from the centre.
Heritage and cultural activities
The historic heart of Saint-Brieuc is best discovered on foot: the medieval quarter around Saint-Étienne Cathedral, a 15th-century Gothic fountain, half-timbered facades and contemporary street-art murals all share the same streets. The port of Le Légué, a former fishing port turned into a place for strolling and dining, completes the visit. In the surrounding area, the bay of Saint-Brieuc and its nature reserve are ideal for walking, cycling or kayaking, while the GR34 (the customs officers' path) lets you reach sites such as the Pointe du Roselier or Cap Fréhel on foot.
Access and transport
Saint-Brieuc is well served, by train as well as by car:
By train: the TGV Atlantique line connects Paris to Saint-Brieuc in about 2h30, not necessarily with a change. Rennes is less than an hour away (about 50 minutes) and Brest about 1h30
By car: the town is served by the RN12, the main road linking Rennes to Brest, about 100 km from Rennes and 140 km from Brest.
By bus: the TUB urban network and the TIBUS departmental network serve the town and its conurbation; a bus station also hosts long-distance connections (Flixbus, etc.).
By plane: the nearest airport is Rennes (about 1h15 with the train + bus transfer); Lannion airport is about 50 minutes away by road.
Why stay in Saint-Brieuc?
Saint-Brieuc is a convenient base for two types of visitors: tourists who want to explore North Brittany (the bay of Saint-Brieuc, Île de Bréhat, Fort la Latte, Cap Fréhel, Dinard, Saint-Malo — all within a radius of around a hundred kilometres) and business travellers, as the town has business facilities (seminar centres, coworking spaces) and direct rail access to Paris and Rennes.
The town is just as suited to a stay focused on walking and nearby visits (town centre, port, cathedral) as to day trips to the coast or the surrounding islands, by train or by car.
