Description

Why not make memories in the Midlands, at the Best Western Appleby Park Hotel? This Best Western is located on the outskirts of Tamworth in Appleby Magna and proves brilliant for both business and leisure getaways. The hotel lies just off Junction 11 on the M42, so you’ll also be within driving distance of many major cities including Birmingham, Loughborough, Derby and Nottingham. If you head to Birmingham, we recommend stocking up on Dairy Milk at Cadburys World – only a 45 minute drive away from the hotel. Derby Cathedral and Loughborough’s Beacon Hill Country Park are both only thirty minutes away, and will make for some superb snapshots to show your friends and family. If you don’t wish to travel quite so far, plenty of family fun can be found closer by. Drayton Manor Theme Park is less than a 20 minute drive away and Twycross zoo is only four minutes away - both making for great days out. The Best Western is also a mere 20 minute drive from Donington Park, where Download Festival is held every year in June. So, if you’re hoping to swerve the muddy camping or simply enjoy a luxurious night’s stay – and long shower - after the weekend, the Best Western is ideal. This lovely location is made all the more attractive by the amazing accommodation available at our hotel in Tamworth. There’s plenty of room for relaxation thanks to a choice of 96 en suite rooms including doubles and twins, interconnecting rooms and family bedrooms. Before you settle down for the evening, why not fill yourself up in The Park Restaurant - our delicious and contemporary bistro? Whether you are looking for something healthy or hearty, there will be plenty on the menu for you. Please be aware that the hotel is now cashless.

"Lovely staff and food -- BUT"
Paul T, 05 Juillet 2021

The hotel and staff were lovely. We ate there for both nights of our stay and the food was very good and at good prices. However whoever does their ordering and stocking needs a serious kick up the ****. No red wine or brandy in the bar both nights (why not pop to a local supermarket and get some if orders are iffy). No coffee in the bar, machine broken. Second night some desserts ran out. Second morning at breakfast no croissants then after waiting for 35 minutes for cooked breakfast we are told they have no eggs! They did refund our breakfast! As I said the staff were great just sort the ordering.

"Friendly and efficient service"

Friendly stay and felt at ease. Meal was little small but lovely. Lovely room was quite warm and very clean. Staff very friendly and always approachable. Easily accessible car park and plenty of space

"Pleasant stay after a year of lockdown"
WaidiB, 06 Juin 2021

Desperate for a night away after fifteen months of lockdown, I felt sceptical due to there still being Covid restrictions. But what a pleasant night away. We arrived late afternoon and was met by a lovely, friendly lady called Liz. She made us feel really welcome. She checked us in and explained things to us - we had booked this hotel with a Zoo deal on Groupon. She talked to us about the zoo and included the children into the conversation too. We were meeting friends for dinner that evening so decided to eat at this hotel. My friends were also made very welcomed. Liz went out of her way to come and chat to us. the young man who served us - Leon, was extremely polite and well mannered. The food arrived well presented and we did not have to wait too long. There was a good selection of vegetarian options which we thoroughly enjoyed. Our room was comfortable and had an adjoining door to a twin bedroom next door. Breakfast was good too. Obviously there was no self service buffet due to Covid restrictions but they had a good waitress service. Overall, a very enjoyable stay and I would definitely go again.

"Excellent stay and breakfast"
Traceyandpaul6367, 31 Mai 2021

When we arrived we were checked in by a very friendly Receptionist called Kerry, she made us feel very welcome and booked us in for breakfast. The room was lovely and very clean, excellent size, bed was very comfortable. We both felt very Covid safe here. We had a drink in the evening in the lounge area, served by Grace, who again, was very friendly. Lovely to be served by such friendly and happy staff. In the morning we went for breakfast and was served by another Kerry, and she was very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was lovely and couldn't be faulted. All in all, we had a wonderful stay here and would not hesitate to recommend it.

"Not great"
W7024AHbethm, 22 Mai 2021

The hotel and facilities were fine and to be expected. However the staff are unorganised. The covid behaviour is poor as most won't wearing masks properly and kept pulling them down to talk. Having not yet been vaccinated and then handling my food made me very uncomfortable. The waitress at breakfast was very blunt and within a few seconds of giving us a list of their foods asked what we wanted without explaining the system (usually it would be a buffet). Overall it's a shame the staff couldn't have been more welcoming and following covid laws to keep customers safe. A shame.

"Fabulous food and stay, a must for every meat eater"
iknowthebestplaces, 18 Mai 2021

Forget everything else, at last I've found one of the best places to eat in a hotel First of all the front of house staff are fantastic, teeming with personality and laughter Fabulous Secondly yep I was gonna order the usual take away Chinese etc etc, but thought you know what I'll give the food hear a go, Lucky I did, I'm on honest I would just come for the food, TRY THE BURGER sits fantastic and you certainly won't be disappointed I stay away 4 nights a week 52 weeks a year and it's just so nice to have warm friendly staff that to be honest treat it like there homes and yours, forget the hotels around Go with this and tell me the food isn't great Sorry no pictures as I was so into my food it went Apologies

"Great Stay"
csfieldhouse, 04 Mai 2021

A great location just off the M42. Excellent check-in, friendly. Very clean and functional rooms with a good outside space. The food was very good both Evening meal and breakfast. Well done to Liz, Lucy and BW team > Super customer service.

"Best Western overnighter "
donnag38, 24 Janvier 2021

My husband and I came down from Scotland to visit Twycross Zoo. We stayed in the Best Western for one night. Our first room was very noisy due to the adjacency of the motorway. The staff were very accommodating and moved us to a quieter room. The staff were very friendly in general. The hotel sits in the middle of nowhere. There is a McDonalds nearby but apart from that there are no amenities nearby. The room was comfortable enough but the location would prevent a return. Hence the 4 stars.

"Breathtaking"
jacoblA6971QG, 18 Décembre 2020

Well... where do I start. I fell ill back in 17' it wasn't easy but I made it through, regardless. I took a bullet to the chest and it split me wide open. I thought I'd never heal so I went on a journey to find myself and t that is when I found her. The Apppeby inn. The very best of hotels, love you all.

"Enjoyable 2 Night Family Stay + Zoo Tickets!"
LILxCx, 30 Octobre 2020

We had a smooth, welcoming check in at the desk by Lucy and was pleased with our interlocking twin rooms for the 5 of us. Everywhere was clean and bedrooms warm. The pressure on the showers were great too! We did however have to share the tv remote with the kids as only one was provided between the two tvs (thankfully the kids mainly had it on one channel).. Breakfast the first day was a little hectic as the minimal staff (only 2) were unfortunately rushed off their feet serving. We were booked in for a time slot when we first checked in, so surprisingly when we arrived most of the tables hadn't been cleared away. In the end we had to push 2 clean smaller tables together to accommodate ourselves. By the time we'd had our breakfast, 3 of us wanted more drinks but no one could be seen.. (hubby joked they were hiding in the kitchen until the coast was clear lol).. It soon reached the time when breakfast actually stopped and still no one emerged from the kitchen so we had to go. Taking the morning experience into account, we decided not to eat at the hotel for dinner and ate out instead. On arriving back from our meal we booked breakfast again for the next day but for an earlier time instead. The next morning was brilliant. One staff member in particular (Lucy again!) was great in service and has been very accommodating throughout our stay.. (she had brought up extra sheets, pillows and blankets on the first night as well as given son extra milk, sugar and tea bags the second night). She heard about the previous mornings encounter and apologised. Staff couldn't of been more attentive which finished off our overall stay a happy one.

"Great location, great service, great Hotel"
martinsgym, 27 Octobre 2020

Perfect location, just off major routes. The service and cleanliness of the hotel is first class, as is the attitude of all the staff I interacted with. Couldn't be more helpful. Best value for money hotel I have stayed in for a long time. I was very impressed by the Covid-19 staff awareness, who have clearly all be trained to a very high standard. I must mention the absolutely superb cooked breakfast, not to be missed in my view.

"Good hotel, great team, in difficult times"
Wander24266975185, 27 Octobre 2020

Excellent hotel. Is this normal times? NO.. but having stayed in other hotels, they are managing it better than most!! Superiour rooms worth the extra if avalible... Great staff, found them helpful and friendly, in fact booked to stay over the next few weeks. Location just off the M42/ A42 is excellent, yet the hotel is surrounded by trees and large grounds.

"Management has poor customer service skills"
Quirkydancer, 15 Octobre 2020

I stayed at this hotel very recently & the room was clean, nicely decorated & the one breakfast I did have was nice too. Reception though did not give out the correct WiFi password & twice did not answer the telephone, but left it ringing for a long time. However, I was ultimately misled by the BW booking site confirmation into believing I was receiving a grab ‘n' go breakfast included in the price of my 3 day stay. Other BW hotels I have stayed in always include breakfast. Even though I sent a copy of the booking confirmation detailing this information & the type of breakfast available at the time of booking, the manager Liz said it wasn't a confirmation & that the hotels vary! The ambiguity of the wording used in the booking had caused the confusion. But the manager Liz would not concede or admit that the management could have used their discretion & offered me an alternative free breakfast or admit I had a valid complaint under the trade descriptions act. Even though 2 members of the reception staff on duty when I arrived & on departure, had admitted to me that the hotel had offered & since stopped the grab ‘n' go breakfasts at this hotel & not updated their website regarding this, Liz did not check with her staff regarding the facts I stated, BEFORE replying to the issues I raised in my complaint & she had in fact actually LIED to me, stating the hotel had never offered grab ‘n' go breakfasts! Management is lacking in customer service skills. No conflict resolution or recompense was offered by her regarding the hotel not offering me a breakfast alternative apart from me buying one. Granted another reception member refunded my one breakfast I had paid for, when she asked me how my stay was & I explained my experience. My complaint was however, acknowledged & validated & will be actioned by a customer service manager on the main BW website as my booking information has now been forwarded to BW head office in Milan. They are far more conciliatory. Having worked in customer service in the public sector in the NHS I know what I am talking about & if I had displayed blatant disregard for the facts in my job, I would have been disciplined. A bit of humbleness is what is needed by management at this hotel.

"Don't stay here"
EmilyE408, 15 Octobre 2020

Worst nights sleep of my life! We booked a 2 night stay with the zoo tickets for a weekend away. When we arrived there was nobody to be found. We had to hunt down staff to get checked in. When we got to our room it was freezing cold but clean. The shower was tiny, shower curtain rail only just above my head (I'm only 5'6!), water pressure was awful and water was only just warm. The heating was a tiny heater tucked by the bed which SLOWLY warmed up the room. The bed was horrendous! It was like a half deflated bouncy castle with springs. We actually checked to see if the base was broken because sitting on the side meant the whole thing went down! The whole night there was a constant banging in the pipes or something which meant we hardly slept a wink! Breakfast was in the entrance foyer for some reason and to be frank was rank. My husband had a fried egg which had been fried to within an millimeter of it's life and the yolk was rock solid. Needless to say we checked out (a day early!) and went to a premier inn for the 2nd night where we had the best night sleep ever! Don't waste your time, money or sleep staying at the hotel!

"Friendly and relaxing"
102victoriam, 30 Septembre 2020

We have just spent 3 nights at this hotel and felt that the hotel and staff have worked hard to full-fill Covid regulations. We were greeted at reception by a very friendly member of staff who explained everything to us including staggered times for breakfast and showing us the reduced evening menu. Our room was clean, nice and roomy and loved the comfy chair. Rooms were not cleaned during our stay to reduce contact but you only needed to contact reception if you needed anything.Tables were spaced out well in the dining area with all table service wether dining or just drinking. All staff wore masks and regularly sanitised their hands. The menu was reduced but we ate each night and enjoyed what we had. We have had a really enjoyable stay.

"Rooms not cleaned"
Urban2911, 16 Septembre 2020

Room was not cleaned still had used bedding and bath had hairs in it. Breakfast was nice staff were nice and welcoming stayed there as it was part of a deal we got off groupon that included tickets to the zoo.

"Twycross zoo stopover"
Mandy I, 14 Septembre 2020

Hotel first impression ok..lights kept goin off..safe wouldn't work..dust all round room...bin dirty...no information in room about hotel or how to work tv which couldn't operate..only person in hotel wearing a mask

"Offer with tickets to the zoo"
ohdearmeWestmidlands, 14 Septembre 2020

This was a very good offer with tickets to Twycross Zoo We had a standard room which was upstairs and had a bath/shower we could have upgraded £15 but they only had showers. sometimes its lovely to have a soak! They seem to be short of electric sockets in the room could do with a few more as its the norm to charge up tablets phones etc. We had buffet breakfast and all care was taken to keep a distance with this Corona virus. The only gripe I would say is we had plastic cutlery and my husband kept breaking his forks when trying to cut the bacon

"Good stay great staff "
462redsea, 07 Septembre 2020

Have just returned after spending one night at the best Western Appleby Park. We would like to thank all the staff for making our stay so enjoyable. A special mention to kirsty who had only been working there for 4 days ,you are so lovely and bubbly and we want to wish all the best in your new job . The hotel rooms are clean and comfortable albeit a bit basic . Breakfast was acceptable cereals ,toast , sausage, bacon ,beans ,tomatoes, hash browns but no eggs . The best Western Appleby Park is a good place to stay and at a good price ,no it's not the hilton but excellent value for money . We hope to return again.

"Nice clean and friendly hotel"
theneils107, 28 Août 2020

The hotel was clean, staff were nice, room was great. Comfy bed and nice powerful shower. The only drawback was the cost of drinks in the bar. 4 x vodka & coke and 1 x coke was over £28! An ice machine so we could have cold drinks in the room would be useful.

"unsure "
Jassxcx, 26 Août 2020

we did the zoo and hotel offer, given an upgrade of a superior room (not properly cleaned) and seemed very understaffed and staff doing extremely long shifts. Shocked to see the breakfast was a help yourself buffet style, not ideal with the current pandemic.

"Awful Hotel"
Simon P, 25 Août 2020

arrived just after 7 on a weekend to a room that had not been serviced properly changed rooms and then had dinner food only average breakfast just ok very short staffed just going through the motions avoid

"Great value"
Adrian T, 22 Août 2020

This hotel is very nice with great reception, bar and restaurant areas. The room was standard hotel with a good shower. The whole hotel was very clean and tidy. The downside was the post covid rules which are noticeable. The lack of staff is clear though Lucy (manager) and Jim(barman) were run off their feet but managed to get everything done with finesse. The evening meal was adequate and of a standard compared to the price which was reasonable. The breakfast was basic to say the least, looking at previous reviews there was a full english which has been replaced with sausage and bacon only which is a shame. I would recommend this hotel as it is good value for money and still a good hotel

"Friendly staff"
bridgetbB7621AS, 28 Juillet 2020

Great value, staff really go the extra mile. I have been staying here for one or two nights a week for the past few weeks and staff now recognise me and greet me like an old friend, make you feel very welcome.

"Could be amazing "
travel4love88, 23 Juillet 2020

Price of rooms is good, it's dated but still rooms are clean enough but there was a strange smell when entering room, room was very hot but slept well. Shower is excellent overall a decent enough hotel for the price, beer fridges had very low stock and no draught beer staff are very friendly

"clean, quiet everything I needed"
ge0rginaneil, 23 Juillet 2020

I stayed here so I could visit my family who live nearby. There was ample parking, check in was easy. The room was fabulous, everything I needed, clean and comfy. Fantastic shower! Would definitely stay again, but would skip breakfast

"Great place to stay if a bit pricey"
s00, 25 Février 2020

Lovely hotel ideal for M42 travellers. This hotel has great accomodation and staff. The food was good of limited due to a gas leak in the kitchen. Excellent nights sleep despite being so near to the M42. Quite pricey for the night 84. 00 including breakfast.

"Very poor food and management"
lucy1332016, 15 Février 2020

Having booked through groupon for 1 nights stay with breakfast and zoo pass we were thoroughly looking forward to our weekend, it turned out we were the only people staying in the hotel which was fine, the room was cold when we arrived so asked for possible heater but staff said that it has been a problem as the room we were in still had storage heaters , we had phoned ahead and it turns out you can't book in till 3 and you can't collect your zoo tickets till you book in, it doesn't say this on web site so it's worth a mention, we went down for breakfast at 9 there was a small selection of juice and bread although had to wait 10 mins for the toaster to heat as it hadn't been put on , we ordered a full English which came promptly, we discovered our scrambled eggs smelled funny and realised they were off , after bringing this to the attention of the staff who just said , sorry about that , we were a little put off any other cooked breakfast not that we were offered and decided perhaps we would have some toast and cereals, this however had also been put away , there was no one around and no one came over to explain or offer an out out apology.. leaving the deserted hotel we would never return to I did write to the hotel who just said sorry and they even addressed the email to the wrong name , absolutely shocking

"Valentines night away"
Charlottea94x, 15 Février 2020

My partner and stayed here in valentines day. We found a deal on Groupon for B&B with twycross zoo tickets. When we arrived the lady who greeted us was lovely (didn't catch her name). We booked a table in the restaurant, where Jim and David attended to us and were superb!! The food was delicious and nothing was too much trouble. Everyone we came across was so polite and courteous. It makes a simple stay so much more memorable. We even got chocolates and sweets to our table as a gesture from the manager, a lovely touch! Such a lovely welcoming hotel with brilliant staff all round! The rooms are a little dated and basic but had everything we needed. Thank you very much for making our stay one to remember!

"One night comfortable stay with helpful friendly staff"
samdD9282LL, 10 Février 2020

Offered receptionist a swipe of my credit Carson her suggestion should I like to spend at the bar or restaurant. Which I did . They have now charged my credit cad twice for the whole stay . So do NOT entrust them with your credit card . Have to go through the tiresome process of obtaining a refund. Beware

"Convenient stop over for a business traveller"
mylesh01, 30 Janvier 2020

This motel is situated on the roundabout above the M42 at Jct 11. I only stopped one night and didn't have time for either an evening meal or breakfast. The room was basic, clean and tidy with a decently comfortable bed. The receptionist was very welcoming and helpful. Watch out for the shower temperature! The water was very hot and when I finally managed to turn the temperature control that turned out to be the coolest setting. At its hotest I swear you could have poached an egg! I'd happily stay there again next time I have meetings in the area and, hopefully, I'll have time to try the breakfast then.

"It's very good"
Ceri g, 21 Janvier 2020

Stayed here last night as meetings nearby It's easy to find and just off the M42 which is ideal for the next morning. Reception and bar area is very modern, rooms don't completely match but comfortable and clean. Had a good nights sleep. Didn't have food there so can't comment. Staff were friendly and there's quite a lot of parking Will stay again

"A bit of a nice surprise."
55mariab123, 20 Janvier 2020

I came to join in with a surprise birthday party for an old friend. I travelled on my own , and appreciated that the welcome was warm and friendly. Check in was pleasantly dealt with. My room was a double with Bath, even though I'd booked and paid for a single. Shower hot, bed was comfy and The event I had come for was in a party room, which was very nicely set out. The buffet Breakfast was more than ample with good quality food , fruit and yoghurts . I had no room for the pancakes, though..I travelled solo but met up with friends family for the evening.

"Great place for special celebration"
412alisonb, 19 Janvier 2020

Was given a surprise 60th birthday party at this venue. It was a fantastic evening as the hotel staff worked hard to ensure that all of our needs were catered for. They were especially supportive helping to prepare and decorate the room during the day. We started with a meal for family and friends who had travelled long distances and the food was freshly prepared and 19 of us served efficiently by the staff in part of the Parva suite. The whole of the room was then opened up to accommodate more guests and a dance floor. Many of the guests stayed over and enjoyed a good breakfast. Can't thank the team enough for helping to make our evening a happy and memorable one.

"National holidays stay"
helenpD2830YB, 05 Janvier 2020

I want to compliment the staff and hotel. My son and I stayed over for one night on a National holidays break. Check in was really fast and highly organised. Room spacious and clean, but could have done with a refresh. It was a bit cold too. Food was very nice, both evening meal and breakfast. Staff friendly, helpful and really couldn't do enough. Made to feel so welcome. Never stayed in a Best Western before, but will be so doing again.

"Fantastic stay"
Gailyfletch, 04 Janvier 2020

Lovely hotel very relaxing atmosphere. Extremely helpful and friendly staff. Very comfortable beds.. Fantastic nights sleep. Everything in room you need. My daughter was very impressed with the WiFi :-)

"Rude hotel"
Kirstyarabella, 25 Décembre 2019

I was quite upset and surprised at how unprofessional and rude the staff were. In check-in , the room was nearly £100, and j have bought a £50 note to pay towards it. I was told this would not be accepted as they are hard to 'teansfer'. It's money at the end of the day! The Lady went off to find someone to talk to, a quw built up and it was quite embarrassing to be treated like my money wasn't legitimate. When j ordered room service, I was told on the phone that as I have giving my card details, "do you expect us to trust you to pay for your sandwiches and chips!!'. I was so offended. I said yes, in any other hotel , the room service is added to the bill. On check out, I mentioned how rude and presumptive the man was, and the receptionist was just like yeah right, well we have problems with people not paying for their food. Well I am sorry Best Western, but you cannot tar everyone with the same brush and talk to them like cheats. We also had pubic hair in the bath, I just couldn't be bothered to report it as I discovered it in the morning, and we were checking out soon anyway. I think you need to make sure the staff have manners and treat guests with HOSPITALITY. Not like a burden.

"Very Poor"
janetmeese58, 23 Décembre 2019

Came with a coach party. Staff friendly and helpful, rooms poor, cold and bathroom had a damp patch on the ceiling. when we arrived we were told that dinner would be at 6pm (no choice) there were only two choices at dinner for each course, Pate or Soup, Roast Turkey or Fish Pie and Apple Crumble and Custard or Chocolate Fudge Cake. if you wanted cream with it you had to ask. they served the soup first to those that wanted it and then the pate, so those in your party who had soup had finished their starter by the time the pate was served, it was the same with each course, we were also put in the foyer in the main reception area for our meals, so we got the draft every time someone came in or out, The quality of the food at breakfast was appalling. Definately the cheap options, as with dinner the night before.

"Excellent hotel"
Mike C, 17 Décembre 2019

The room was comfortable, it was clean & spacious, staff were particularly friendly & helpful. It was only slightly let down by the buffet breakfast which was hardly warm, but it was cooked fresh on the next day. We will definitely stay there again

"Clean and Friendly"
philipa31, 11 Décembre 2019

I stay here on a regular basis throughout the year and it's the first time I've done a review on the place. Rooms are clean and good value but some could do with some TLC. Food now is really good and breakfast excellent taking in to consideration of the general B&B rate ! The two big features about the place is its situation close to Birmingham & East Midland airports also the Zoo down the road and other attractions in the area! Finally the staff are just brilliant they are friendly helpful and nothing is too much for them to help you! The The recent change of senior management seems to have made a positive change and I think the staff who have been here for a long time are just the best ! So keep it up everybody at the Appleby Park you always make me feel welcome and I'm sure I will be staying lots more in 2020! Al my best wishes Phil

"5 day stay work"
john1810jdw, 28 Novembre 2019

Food in here is terrible this week. Breakfast was usually good but standards have nosedived. Bacon was hard as rock everyday. Never any fresh eggs. Fat soaked black pudding scrambled eggs were like slush an so on . 0 out of 10. Had soup which tasted like a tin of chopped tomatoes that had been blended. Next night was pizza which had more purée on than toppings. Very poor. Tried korma one night which was simple to do but chicken was like rubber. Had a burger one night which was virtually raw inside and a steak sandwich on another night this was also swimming in fat and had made bun soggy. Never have any deserts on and the daily special was lamb shank 3 days on bounce. Rooms are decent though - on a plus side (not) when you mention above issues nothing is done and manager never there to discuss complaints. Avoid at all costs

"Average Experience "
RubyLou_11, 16 Novembre 2019

Came here as part of a National Holidays trip to Birmingham Christmas Market. The hotel staff were very welcoming and friendly, especially the restaurant staff. The rooms were okay for the price paid but in need of refurbishment as lots of stains on walls and furniture. Also very cold! The poor rating comes from the food- a set menu for the coach party was very poor. Two of the three options not available by the time our table was called up and the cheesecake dessert smell turned my stomach. I would not choose to eat here again.

"Unfriendly staff and not helpful"
480jennieh, 05 Novembre 2019

Staff are rude and un helpful markets itself as a family friendly hotel when they dont actually want children there. Never been made to be so un welcome because i had a pushchair. Rooms are dated very basic. Only positive its in a good location

"Wedding stay"
Joan C, 04 Novembre 2019

Good stay, bit expensive at £360 for two rooms, two nights bed and breakfast. Nothing to do around the hotel itself as quite off the beaten track. Staff friendly and helpful. The restaurant meal was ok but my daughters both had pizza which was not very nice and they left most of it. Starters nice. Food and wine expensive £20 a bottle.

"Our stay"
rochchar1923, 29 Octobre 2019

Dirty bathroom brown shower curtain food average over priced breakfast rooms didn't look like the pictures on line wouldn't stay here again motorway services didn't realise as this wasn't said on the website

"Comfortable and clean"
Davy C, 27 Octobre 2019

Stayed one night on a National Holidays concert trip to Birmingham. Check in was quick and easy, well organised for a coach arrival. Room was comfortable and clean. Evening meal was included, food was good, fresh and hot. Breakfast was of a similarly good quality. Staff were very friendly, helpful and polite. The bar is open late, ideal for a late return from show. Late bar is ‘charge to room' - no cash, and you have to authorise a Debit/Credit card earlier in the day. The duty manager had the foresight to tell us this at dinner, before went into Birmingham. Birmingham is a half-hour drive away, so the hotel is an ideal base for visiting the Second City. Great value hotel, would definitely stay here again.

"Rubbish for money"
Sue B, 27 Octobre 2019

We arrived at hotel thought it was going to be lovely cosy room wrong they had the window wide open it was freezing I wanted to move they said no rooms even though no one around room took three miserable hours to warm up not good start to night we was going to family do it ruined the moods we was in the money it cost for one night in this room 70 was not worth it was wasted money been warmer sleeping outside on streets x

"Depressing"
deville1984, 24 Octobre 2019

Stayed here against my will as part of a package. There was a set menu provided on the back of the room info card.... Im not joking when I say that one of the two starters available was.....fruit juice. It was so bad, the food was inedible and the wait staff were incredulous that 0 out of 4 people were able to stomach the cottage pie. I say wait staff loosely as you were given a "turn" to go and collect your own food....sort of like in prison. The reception area is very deceptive as it looks lovely, the rooms however...not so much. The window in my room did not close, so that will be fun for winter guests. Bar prices are reasonable which is fortunate for the guests, as numbing the senses is required here. I was sick the following day, sadly cant 100% attribute that to the stay or the food here but I dont usually throw up after staying in hotels so come to your own conclusion. The person manning the reception desk didnt ask how my stay was when I checked out - I feel that was probably because she didnt want to know the answer and I cant blame her really.

"Fawlty Towers Comes to life"
557philc, 22 Octobre 2019

Stayed here for a work trip in October. The room: Very basic as expected, there was a funny smell in there, in much need of a revamp , in particular the bathroom. TV, good lighting and a reasonable size. The bar/ lounge area: Great space and this was nice and modern, with plenty of seats. Didn't quite match the rest of the place, unless they had started With this first in upgrading the hotel. Service: Whilst I am sure the staff were all doing their best and were friendly, the service was slow, the old guy on the bar couldn't seem to do anything other than walk away from the bar after serving each person to do or get something. i.e walk to the restaurant to get a jug, find a stapler to staple receipts, all whilst there was a long queue of people waiting. The breakfast was pretty basic, one morning it was hard work just to get a plate. In summary, the price was pretty cheap, so in terms of that then it was reasonable value for money.

"Worst Best Western we have stayed in"
jj-the-jetsetter, 18 Octobre 2019

We are Best Western members so use them quite often. We came here for a conference, staying two nights. The meeting room was fine and well lit, except we had to get moved around to accomodate a wedding/party for our dinner. And the coffee provided for our morning and afternoon breaks was foul Overall the hotel is awful. Looks from outside like a Communist era barracks, although public areas are spacious. We needed help with our luggage, but they don't even have a hotel trolley, so a poor girl had to struggle to carry it by hand for us. Food poor quality, premium rooms far too small for the price, more like a cheap downmarket chain than a Best Western. No newspapers available " go to the garage opposite" was their idea of service, One tiny box of water in room. No phone in room for early morning call. No instructions for heating in the room which was freezing when we checked in. The only saving grace was a good proper shower. Dreadful evening meals, including our formal dinner, most of which was overcooked and tasteless, eg tasteless soup, leather crackling with the pork, limp rocket leaves with the pate, places laid forgetting to put out any serviettes, etc Don't forget to log in your car number as they have franchised out the car park with huge fines for non-compliance. No complaint forms available- I wonder why?

"Basic Rooms Rubbish Breakfast!"
Chris B, 17 Octobre 2019

I stay in Best Western all over the country and am a Diamond rewards member. This hotel is close to the company I consult for so have stayed here several times. Firstly I will say that the Staff (when you can find them) are very friendly. The rooms are small, clean but the furniture is basic, the bed is comfortable. Last night I stayed in a standard double room and the cost was £88.73 B&B. I ate in the bar and had Lamb Koftas followed by Chicken and bacon Melt. Which was OK. My main issue is the breakfast. The last few times I have stayed here it has always been poor, but this morning it was the worst I have encountered, As I have a later appointment I went down for breakfast at just before 9. (breakfast is served until 9:30). I stood for quite a time "waiting to be seated". Orange juice - Dispenser virtually empty. Coffee- Thermos pump flask - Stewed muddy and cold. Had to resort to a sachet of Nescafe! Milk Dispenser - virtually empty, I was told to tilt it to get a dribble of milk out. While I was there this was never filled, I had to tell two guests to tilt it! No Staff anywhere to ask. Tiny cold Croissants- eventually a waitress appeared and I ask if they could warm a couple up for me. This was obviously a difficult question as she had to ask in the kitchen. They arrived soggy after being put in the microwave. Cooked Food - Gave this a miss as it looked very dried up with eggs like shoe leather. Toast - 2 Crusts left in the basket rock hard. No staff anywhere to ask.Waited again for several minutes and eventually new bread was brought out. The choice of cold items is very poor. Contrast this with my previous night at the Best Western in Widnes. Beautiful room, Great food. Breakfast - huge choice lovely warm croissant. Hot food cooked to order which was amazing. Fresh brewed coffee. All for £88.40 Just less than Appleby! How can there be so much difference at virtually the same price? There is a PremierInn nearer to the company I was at so I think as much as I hate them I would be better off there in future.

"2 nights "
Stevee17, 16 Octobre 2019

Staff I thought were really friendly, clean room. The food was ok , the bar a bit dull although spacious. Location isolated, handy for motorway junction, although old English village down the road pleasant, stroll with 2 pubs.

"Overnight National Holidays Stay"
Christopher M, 13 Octobre 2019

Stayed for 1 night as part of a National Holidays mystery weekend. The hotel reception and bar area is clean and well presented. It's also where you're going to eat as part of the trip. The room we had was clean but desperately needing a refresh. The bed was incredibly soft. Positive points it was very quiet and the curtains kept out any light. The food was in a word - appalling. The hotel puts on a set menu for National Holidays customers and clearly are working to a limited budget. Starter option was either soup or fruit juice. We had the soup which was very watery tomato. The main was cottage pie, fish or but roast. We had the cottage pie which was disgusting. It tasted like it had used very cheap, fatty mince. Dessert was better with a choice of cheesecake or jam sponge. Breakfast was also much better as you're given the same choices as other hotel guests.

"Not the best Best Western I've stayed at."
piasau2017, 07 Octobre 2019

Clearly a business hotel for which I attended 3 days of meetings there. On the 2nd day we had to move our meeting room 3 times which was an absolute pain since we had a great deal of kit to move each time. Worst aspect for our group was the food for our dinner. First night the fish was awful - cold, overcooked and with poor side dishes. The fish even started to run out despite us ordering several hours in advance! We had to ask for napkins as none were provided - they merely put some paper ones from the bar in the middle of the table for us. Second night the standard improved somewhat although our bread rolls came several minutes after the starter had been served. I feel the staff did their best and the problem (quality, variety of food on offer and staff ability) was all down to management. Our bedroom was clean but one of the bed side tables had fallen off the wall and had not been replaced, and the bed was far too soft for a good nights sleep. Toilet rolls were not replaced by the cleaners (we stayed 2 nights.), and additionally there were no toilet rolls at all in the ladies toilet in the lobby area! So overall for our group this was not a good experience and we will not be coming back again to this hotel.

"Excellent hotel"
ch3ll33_1983, 22 Septembre 2019

Myself and 2 young boys was part of a NH coach party to Twycross zoo and Thomas Land for the weekend. So as you can imagine, there was quite a few young children on this trip. On arrival, the hotel was very nice, clean and open planned, with plenty of seating and large TVs. Through out our stay here for the night, the staff were all very friendly and polite and was always asking if things was ok or if we needed anything. They even offered to help to carry food for us. There was some pictures and crayons aside which entertained the kids. Even some kids was running around excited and the staff was all very patient. As i have to be gluten free, I was very impressed with the dietary needs they adhere to. Even to the point of supplying gluten free bread with soup. Not many places offer this. The staff seemed to be very knowledgeable about gluten free, which again is very important. There was plenty of choice at meal times and the kids enjoyed theirs too. I like the fact that the children are served their meals, when we have our starters. The rooms are very clean and spacious. At breakfast time, again there was many things to choose from and again the staff was very helpful. It was lovely to see the general manager on the floor, speaking to those that had stayed. He seemed to be a very nice person with excellent people skills. He also offered to help us with our bags. Overall, we loved our stayed here and would highly recommend it. The customer service from all member of staff we came across was exceptional. Keep up the fantastic work. Hope to visit again in the future.

"Fantastic charity event "
kat071103, 21 Septembre 2019

Visited the hotel for a family charity event. The customer service at the hotel was exceptional from beginning to end. Every member of staff we spoke to were very helpful, and very patient with all the children. The food we were served for lunch was delicious too, an excellent selection and lots of choice. A great day all round x

"Good business hotel"
Bigbird1960, 13 Septembre 2019

Good hotel, friendly staff, plenty of car parking, location a bit of a drive for the nec. Connections in the morning and night can be slow due to traffic on the m42 Restaurant ok but service can be a bit slower than expected Overall ok for a night or two

"Overnight stay"
Garry R, 10 Septembre 2019

Arrived after a long day at 10.15pm to be told serving food had stopped at 10pm , no offer to assist with anything hot just best we can do is a sandwich . Following morning it took around two minutes with taps full on to get any hot water. Room information leaflet said see over for room service information but no information on reverse !Not the best service i have encountered. Room was fine.breakfast average.

"The best staff I have experienced at any hotel."
David B, 09 Septembre 2019

The best staff I have experienced at any hotel that I have stayed in. They were very friendly and nothing was to much trouble. It was ideally placed for our trip with plenty of nearby interesting places to visit.

"Needs serious improvement!!"
Bevfoodie, 08 Septembre 2019

Cleanliness was very poor in the dated rooms. Went to breakfast 45 minutes before it ended & there was nothing left. Asked for some more fruit, to be told ‘well ok, but you will have to wait coz the chef will have to do some more' it took 30minutes for the chef to prepare some apple, kiwi & pineapple! There was barely any hot food left, staff begrudgingly and very slowly prepared some more! As a chef myself, I know this to be bad preparation & organisation!! Room was so dirty we had to ask to be moved. Room was very dated & shabby. Best western - needs definite attention!!

"Reasonable hotel"
bevvie2015, 04 Septembre 2019

Nice hotel, stayed in executive room with proper coffee machine for a change. Clean and friendly staff. Located in quiet area away from main roads. Food prices reasonable and breakfast was ok. Plenty of parking

"Overnight Stay with National Holidays"
Lisa P, 02 Septembre 2019

Staff were polite, friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The hotel was testing out buffet style evening meal, which seemed to work really well, the food was piping hot, the cottage pie and veg was lovely, and the jam roly poly and custard... Breakfast was buffet style, same as every hotel we have been in, but again really nice. The rooms were a good size, clean and tidy and plenty of hot water, yes a few marks on the walls, were a touch of paint wouldn't go a miss, but have to say slept really well, beds comfy. Overall, a very pleasent surpise, decent hotel, good location from Drayton Manor and to Twycross Zoo, would reccommend.

"National Holidays Stopover 31st August"
vintagetractor2016, 01 Septembre 2019

Well we've been on quite a few trips with NH and stayed in a variety of accommodation. This hotel was a lovely surprise, from the minute we arrived we felt welcomed by lovely staff. Room 107 was spotless in every way, comfy beds, lots of hot water and a comfy room for a stopover. Drinks not too expensive and gentleman serving was very pleasant. We were asked to be seated for dinner at 6pm. They had a good system, adults served soup or fruit juice while children got their meal, the chips were gorgeous and the choice of chicken strips, sausage or fish fingers with peas or beans. Gail supervised her team so we got our food in an orderly manner rather than the stampede you usually get. I opted for cottage pie, fresh new potatoes and three fresh vegetables, piping hot and tasty. I declined dessert simply because I had enjoyed what I had.

"Splendid in every way"
Christopher R, 26 Août 2019

Excellent staff, good menu at a very reasonable cost. Everyone went out of their way to make our stay pleasant. The room was nice and the shower great with its extra jets. Well placed for Twycross Zoo and Conkers, the centre of the National Forest, both just 10 minutes away and great days out for children & adults. Swimming l and Ice Dome at Tamworth, and castle & shops at Ashby de la Zouch

"One night stay."
Gemma R, 25 Août 2019

Stayed here overnight as part of a national holiday package. The hotel itself was very clean and modern. On arrival we were asked to pre order our children's evening meal, what a farce, kids were waiting forever for food to be served, the same as the adults with the pudding, not to mention the portion sizes! On coming down for breakfast, one member of staff told us we were a bit early but could get some toast, only for another member of staff to be a bit rude telling us the toaster wouldn't be warmed up enough yet. It seemed they were very thin on the ground of staff for the amount of guests staying. I could go on but I won't!

"ang"
Angela R, 24 Août 2019

absoultly disgusting hotel ,no wsy is this a 3* , arrived in room to find a luchbox under the bed with rotting moldy food in so obviously not be cleaned prior to us coming , bed sheets covered in blood stains ,wsited ages for food and whdn it arrived it was disgusting ended up going to nearby mc donalds

"Terrible hotel"
Sarah4eva, 24 Août 2019

Went with national holidays trip. Room had funny mildew smell. Tea time absolute shambles. Kids pre order but asked if my daughter could have adult buffet tea which they said yes. Starter came out for me but none for daughter even though I asked. Kids meals came out all over place and glad we didn't pick that 2 chicken nuggets and few chips. Buffet tea wasn't much better. Chicken or fish pie, 'roasties' and boiled dry veg. Waiting ages for pudding of jam sponge and custard. Other diners walked out and went to the McDonald's across the road.

"Fair value good location"
Michael B, 17 Août 2019

Good location next to M42. But still offers a quiet location. Rooms are of a good size and everything worked as expected. No glasses in the bathroom (a small omission), not any free biscuits like most BW hotels. Breakfast offered a good choice and cooked breakfast was served promptly. The evening meal was a bit slow being served, fair choice of dishes, but menu not as big as some other BW hotels. Food was of good quality. Have stayed on 2-3 occasions in the past

"Poor service"
vallitill22, 14 Août 2019

Very poor service from evening staff. We had to wait 30 mins for main meal . The meal itself was fine but we had to wait another 30 mins to have table cleared and we were the only ones in the restaurant!!! We had to ask 3 different people for some ice cream for my grandson.. In the end I went to the kitchen and I was handed a dish containing ice cream which looked as if it had been dropped in from a great height. Also a mistake in final bill. The barman refused to accept the mistake and was very rude. The mistake was rectified by staff next day

"overnight stay"
stevenpounder2, 13 Août 2019

friendly greeting on arrival by reception staff member had a problem with the electronic card but resolved by the staff although we did not use the restaurant we had a bar snack and was sorted by the lady on bar duty. Clean and tidy room good nights sleep , then a tasty breakfast before we left

"Very helpful staff"
Amy C, 12 Août 2019

My first experience here was terrible. Cleanliness of the rooms was appalling, but the staff were extremely gracious and helpful, and offered me another night to make up for it, in which it greatly improved and they took all of my feedback on board. I would definitely stay here again.

"Worst Western"
nrobin465404, 11 Août 2019

Not very helpful staff. No bottled water available to purchase, no snacks available to purchase, no vending machine, no telephone in room. Hotel was a lot further to travel to than what stated on booking.com.

"ideal location for night near M25"
enid58, 10 Août 2019

Ideal hotel near M25 to stay, rooms comftable with all you need, room 220 was very quite,we did not here anyone moving around. Breakfast was nice and good value but plates could have been warm.Near to Twycross Zoo and Bosworth Battlefield and Meusum.

"Great Hotel and Food"
jeffdF6901MX, 07 Août 2019

Was a little nervous when I arrived as the location didn't look great opposite MacDonalds and Garage. I couldn't have been more wrong, great room, food and service in the lounge and restaurant was brilliant. Food was very nice and reasonably priced.

"Heat"
Matthew S, 28 Juillet 2019

Stayed here last week while the weather was really hot but when we asked for a fan for my room was told it was on a first come basis so had to suffer. Went to bed with the windows open. Was, awakend by all sorts of critters eating me alive this place needs an update in the hotel area the food was OK even thoug I waited nearly 1 hour for desert. Not exceptable bont stay here in the summer months

"Excellent value for money"
gilliANBlackpool, 22 Juillet 2019

Great place to stay. Clean and very well presented. Great location. Big car park. Restaurant meals were very good value and good choice. Receptionist was fabulous. Rooms clean shower presser.was fabulous. Great value for money. Looks newly refurbished.

"Best Western J11 M42"
PeterW4744, 05 Juillet 2019

Enjoyable stay. Staff could not do enough and very polite. Value for money. Would definitely stay there again. Food at dinner was plentiful and well cooked. Breakfast had a wide enough selection. Though the cooked breakfast could have been hotter.

"Terrible service food and overall just bad"
Explore51188879112, 04 Juillet 2019

The food quality service and overall experience was terrible. I stayed for 2 nights and had to go to a different restaurant just to get edible food!! My bed was so soft that my feet and my head were almost touching. Then comes the service, staff are under trained and had no clue what basic descent service is.

"Overnight stay before flying from East Midlands Airport"
colin88Birmingham, 26 Juin 2019

Stayed overnight before flying from East Midlands Airport following day. The stay, food and staff in Restaraunt were excellent. very easy to check-in and sme when checking out. Thanks to all will stay again

"Nice hotel, bizarre room"
Connector56647424482, 17 Juin 2019

Stayed during the download festival, was allocated room 145, nice decor but no bathroom door :/ wasn't very private The gent on reception was lovely and the beds comfy. The shower had really low pressure and didn't stay hot which was a shame if you want a shower I'm guessing you have to get up early. There was a fair amount of dust and bits on the carpet but after a muddy festival it felt like heaven lol!

"Weekend."
580renas, 16 Juin 2019

Just spent 2 nights here.Second evening we returned and my room had not been made up during the day. ‘I can only apologise' I was told. We ordered our food in the bar on second evening at 8.30;not allowed in the restaurant. Starters took 35 minutes to arrive. No staff around to question about the slowness of service; I tried ringing the hotel and there was no reply. Second course also took 35 minutes to arrive. One of us ordered a sweet; it is now Past 10pm. Breakfast today; I requested poached eggs on toast. The waitress replied I'll bring you the eggs you'll need to do your own toast. Some staff were good, some very surly. Service very variable and last night cost twice the cost of the first night. Won't ever come back!

"Very disappointed"
PHDaisy, 16 Juin 2019

Our superior room was lovely and only recently updated but the lovely new fitted bathroom had NO door. Now I don't mind my partner seeing me in the shower or bath, but sitting on the potty is a NO, NO. Their menu was very extensive but everything we ordered, three times, was not available and eventually we settled for a dish that was really poor and after a couple of mouthfuls, we left it. I was told the chef was off and it was an agency chef. Well, I suggest they use a different agency. I have to say the staff were wonderful but unfortunately we will not be back. I really hope Best Western get their act together. I did state all of these concerns while checking out and although the receptionist understood our concerns, no allowance was offered.

"Did the job"
Inspire08464634054, 16 Juin 2019

Hotel reception promised more really. Rooms and bathroom clean but dated - in need of an upgrade. Reception staff helpful although we had problems with the key. Set in pleasant grounds and only £10-12 for a taxi to Ashby-de-la-Zouch. Not bad for a night's stay

"Cleanliness was below par"
Daydream01285321319, 10 Juin 2019

I brought it to the attention of the front of house team that the standard of cleanliness of our room was not to the standards of the cost buf nothing has come of it. They said housekeeping would be in the next morning but all they did was change the towels, bed was not touched, bin not emptied and the bathroom complaint meant the shower curtain was still mouldy throughout our stay.

"Great base for exploring the area "
travelsABC, 27 Mai 2019

Touring around the area I pulled in to the Appleby Park Hotel to find a room for the night. I was greeted warmly by the staff and was very pleased to be given an upgraded room - number 112. My room was delightful; spacious with quality furnishings, top notch bedding and a sparkling bathroom. I particularly liked the placement of a comfortable armchair by the window overlooking the courtyard. I enjoyed relaxing there with a glass of wine at my side. I suggest that a standard or table lamp by by the chair would finish off the room beautifully. A mini fridge would also be handy to keep fresh milk and cold water in. I dined at the hotel restaurant and had a steak that was cooked perfectly to order. I woke up refreshed and the full English breakfast set me up for my continuing travels. Thank you for a very pleasant stay, highly recommended.

"birthday party"
bottlestop, 27 Mai 2019

I was along with 20 other people attending a 90th birthday party, without exception everyones food was served cold and looked as though it had been cooked the day before the rooms on the whole were not up to standard having had a party at the best western south milford where the food and rooms were excellent i could not in all honesty give anything but a zero for appleby park

"90th Birthday- Something to celebrate but clearly, the chef didn't agree"
Ian C, 26 Mai 2019

Hotel accommodation and menu options (limited to simplify) booked well in advance for approximately 26 guests for a surprise 90th Birthday celebration. On the evening the starters (obviously those that were meant to be hot), were cold. The main courses, some were warm but most cold. Those who selected pork were served pork ‘chop', an over-cooked , rubbery, tough and tasteless one at that. I checked the original menu and nowhere did is say pork chop. However, some light and unscheduled entertainment was thrown in when the apple sauce was served more or less at the time everyone had finished their meal. Just when you thought there's an opportunity to redeem themselves with a lovely desert, they failed here too with hot custard served cold and sticky toffee pudding that resembled nothing like that has gone before. Essentially a chocolate/toffee sponge cake base with a spread of toffee paste on top with addition of cold custard. All in all a disappointing and poor experience which frankly shouldn't have been the case given time they had to resource and prepare. So, if those of you reading this review are considering this hotel for a family or similar gathering including dining, I would recommend based on my experience you look elsewhere. If the kitchen can't get the basics/simplest of things right, then there is little hope of them getting anything else right. If you want a good value for money dining experience, I suggest you look elsewhere. You're not going to get it here.

"Relaxing break"
stephenmR8867YA, 19 Mai 2019

A really enjoyable break in a relaxing atmosphere. The staff are very friendly and attentive. There is a nice ambience to this place with excellent food and staff who are always smiling. We stayed in a newly refurbished room which was decorated and furnished to a high standard. We would recommend this hotel and will be revisiting.

"Great stopover "
Andrew R, 18 Mai 2019

Came for the zoo package and wasn't disappointed. Lovely hotel, clean and spacious. Matthew, the duty Manager could not have been better. Nothing too much trouble and very polite and amiable. Also very hard working, he never stopped!! Room clean and comfortable. Food excellent. Would come again.

"Family wedding"
Navigator68380828621, 18 Mai 2019

Clean and pleasant, a shower that was so powerful. Food very nice, helpful staff. WiFi didn't work, but other than that everything was a high standard. And we could stay up very late as a large family in the bar and no one minded

"Good location and comfortable"
Arobajase, 10 Mai 2019

After coming off the M42 and straight into hotel I didn't have high hopes but was pleasantly surprised There's plenty of parking followed by a friendly and efficient check in The room was light, clean and well maintained Food in the restaurant was very good quality The only let down was the service. Ordering an evening meal and a drink, the wonderful waitresses delivered food after 15 mins but no sign of drink for me and people on other tables. Eventually they had to go and pour them themselves. Second drink exactly the same Breakfast was the same. Only one waitress on and by the time she welcomed and sat people, cleared tables and made speciality coffees she was struggling to ensure the buffet and coffee pots were adequately replenished Best thing here are showers. Hot and high pressure. Excellent Overall I would stay again but the management need to sort their staffing levels

"Clean and Spacious"
Dewny, 04 Mai 2019

Great value for money, a clean and spacious hotel with well equipped bedrooms. I had a bath and a shower in mine, hairdryer, kettle and TV. Restaurant was attractive and had a good varied menu. The hotel looks a much better in real life the photos on the website do not do it justice.

"Blaydon Rugby Club"
Sherpa18165573272, 28 Avril 2019

Blaydon Rugby Club have used this hotel for the past 10 years staying on the way to fullfil fixtures in the National Leagues. Over the years the hotel has been upgraded and I would recommend it the anyone staying in the ares for few nights and also for any sports teams looking for an overnight stop on their journey

"Paid twice!"
Tom1874, 23 Avril 2019

I booked a room here a few weeks ago, staying overnight for a family celebration. Booked using the Best Western website. Due to an error on their website (which they acknowledge) I ended up with two reservations and being charged twice. Managed to get the second room cancelled, but after many emails and phone calls, I still await my refund....

"Hotel and Zoo package"
MrsS2BEngland, 21 Avril 2019

I booked a two night room and zoo deal via Wowcher for my family of 3. Twycross Zoo is only 4 minutes away so we thought why not! The whole package cost just over a £100 once I added breakfast, bargain! Overall I can't fault the hotel, it's 3 star so certainly not the Ritz, but it served us well for what we needed. After a 7 hour journey to get there we couldn't be bothered to find somewhere to eat on the first night so opted to eat in the hotel restaurant. The menu is quite limited but the food was nice. Drinks st the bar pricey, but that's standard across all hotels I think. Breakfast the next day was fine, plenty of choice. Our room was basic, the pillows thin and hard, but there was enough to go round. My son had a sofa bed which was very narrow, this is fine for a 6 yr old, but I would imagine a teenager would struggle. The safe in our room didn't work, but it wasn't really an issue for us, if we had passports etc I would of complained. The shower leaked all over the floor, when we arrived there was already a large puddle on the floor. Not a good start! The following day the puddle wasn't cleaned up by house keeping, so we had to put a towel down. In fact the only thing housekeeping appeared to have cleaned was our mugs! Overall a good enough hotel for the price we paid.

"Appleby park hotel Tamworth best Western"
Roger N, 15 Avril 2019

Everything was very rushed not very helpful for gluten-free people and a couple were charged 720 for 2 small glasses of lime and soda thought the prices were quite expensive at the bar the food ok but rooms were tidy staff not very clear on gluten free products

"Family stay"
EmilySanderson90, 14 Avril 2019

As a family of 3 we booked this hotel as we was going to twycross zoo And is literally 5minutes down the road We got a family room which had a sofa bed for our son all set up on arrival Staff members all polite cheerful and helpful through out our stay Breakfast was lovely with lots to choose Would definitely return and recommend this hotel

"Overpriced drinks"
Jeangenie65, 14 Avril 2019

The staff were very pleasant and polite. The pillows on the beds are very hard and uncomfortable but otherwise the room was clean and warm. However, 2 older people at our table got a lime and soda each to have with their meal. The price was an astounding £7.40 for the two together. The glasses wouldn't even have been half pints and the drinks would usually be around 50 pence each in a pub. My friend and I decided that we would not be buying drinks as they were clearly ripped off!!

"Very pleasantly surprised"
Mortonstalker, 14 Avril 2019

We visited as part of a Wowcher offer and stayed for two nights. The hotel is very easy to find and has ample parking. On arrival we entered a very spacious bar and dining area and were given an efficient and pleasant welcome by the receptionist. We were allocated a room (218) on the second floor. The walk to the room was lovely, nicely carpeted and decorated and very quiet. We found our room very much to our taste, spacious, nicely decorated and with a comfy bed and additional comfy chair that we found out converts to a bed. The view from our window was very nice over the rear of the hotel, a grassed area with trees. Didn't find road noise a problem at all. Whilst our room itself was very clean, it was a little disappointing to find toothpaste from the previous occupants still in the sink, suggesting it hadn't been cleaned. There were ample towels and also toiletries provided. We would definitely stay again if in the area and couldn't fault the hotel. however we were very disappointed with the parents of the children who thought the hallway outside our room was a playground, running and shouting at 10pm and the following morning, really felt for the people below us!

"Very nice hotel"

"Disgusting breakfast and terrible customer service"
Lou_J1233, 03 Avril 2019

Terrible rock hard food made us ill. With Stomach ache and the runs. Worst breakfast i have ever had. We Was told we were not allowed an extra quilt for the bed and was freezing all night even though there was only 4 customers in the whole hotel. She was scared to wake the manager and ask for one. Terrible customer service from the manager that eventually called me back.

"DIrty, basic, overpriced"
Steve S, 25 Mars 2019

Staff reasonably helpful and lobby/check in area is lovely. Room was another matter, low quality bed, yellow stains to shower curtain, food/sauce on the in-room phone, which was so old, the plastic had turned yellow, tea/coffee stains on the floor and wall near the bin, broken TV remote. Strange odour, I would hazard a guess it used to be a smoking room and certainly hasn't been re-decorated in the last 20 years. Massively over-priced at £102 per night B+B.

"It's the small things that add up and matter"
GrandTour19855478722, 24 Mars 2019

Hotel looks ok from the outset although the gravel car park with the high kerb stones is not great. It actually looked like they have attempted resurfacing but just didn't finish. We booked with Jane on the phone and seen her in person. Nothing personal to her but she was abrupt and just totally incompetent. She would half finish sentences, she couldn't spell and took the email address down wrong so I did not get confirmation or receipt by email. I don't understand how the hotel can employ someone like this in this role. There was a function on the night we stayed, music was loud and myself and my 8yr old was woken after midnight multiple times by partygoers making excessive unnecessary noise in the corridor. We were also woken by residents above, continuously stomping around the room from 0600. The decor and cleanliness was great but the little things as I said added up. The bed and sofa bed weren't that comfy, the quilt cover was inside out, the room was quite small, the plug in the sink didn't stop water going down and the sink was actually partly blocked. The plug for the bath was missing, the non adjustable shower head was too low down (at 5ft 5”I had to stoop!), the design of the shower curtain meant the floor got soaked, the tv remote didn't work properly and there was a bulb that was out. It all added up to spoil the weekend celebration we were having for my daughters birthday.

"Excellent "
funkaz, 17 Mars 2019

Spa weekend in Swadlincote for myself and 3 friends, original booking was cancelled and Appleby Park was a substitute. Had an amazing weekend here, staff were really helpful and gave us 2 rooms next to each other. Beds are really comfy, tea and coffee in room, hairdryer as well. The breakfast was lovely and the restaurant had a variety of choice at a reasonable price. Would definitely recommend this hotel. Didn't get the name of the waitress on Sunday morning breakfast duties but she is amazing and so helpful. Hope to return soon

"Good stay"
Forrester42, 08 Mars 2019

I enjoyed my stay. Staff was welcoming and friendly and the hotel is comfortable. Positives: staff, food in restaurant is lovely. Room for Improvement: new pillows (pillows are hard). I booked a superior room. It was okay but it was fairly spartan and a strange layout with bed nearly against the wall. There's a lack of any quality furnishings like those you find in Holiday Inn but at under £60 a night I was happy enough.

"Not the best western!!!"
Jamesansell, 25 Février 2019

Booked in to stay for one night, checked in and went to our room first impression was it felt cold and damp, lay on the bed for a while to chill out suddenly realised I was getting wet, discovered that the mattress had a wet patch that had soaked my three tops I was wearing it smelt like beer but could have been urine, they offered another room but said we would have a wait whilst it was made up so we decided to go home as we only lived about a hour away and I felt dirty and had not pack much for one night, they are now refusing to give us any refund and appear to be missing the point as why I was not happy.

"Lovely 2 night stay"
Simon G, 24 Février 2019

We stayed here as a 2 night stay which was part of a wowcher deal which came with twycross zoo included in the price. The hotel is lovely and clean and the reception area is lovely. The room is clean and has everything you could need coffee and tea making facilities and a clean kettle too! Hair dryer in room also. The bedding and beds are comfortable and comfy to sleep in. Reception staff are helpful when checking in. We didn't eat from the hotel so can't comment on that. Cons there arnt many plug sockets my little boy took his switch and we had to do some moving about with the tv to be able to use it. Then back over to Ariel for normal tv least he was able to play it so happy Little Boy. I run a bath but it wasn't as hot as I would have liked it to be however it was a lovely big bath and we both fit in perfect! There is wifi in the rooms but It wasn't strong enough to play you tube or any videos on my little boys iPad good job we took the switch! (These are just a few small issues we found but nothing major) We got twycross zoo in with our hotel package it's only a few minutes drive from the hotel. It's a lovely little zoo and we stayed there 10-5 and could have quite easily stayed longer. We got a great deal with out hotel and zoo ticket and so glad we came up from Leeds to visit. :-)

"Child free night "
Clare W, 10 Février 2019

This hotel is fantastic. And definitely worth the money. We were made to feel very welcome on arrival. Our room was spacious and immaculate. We had everything we needed. The usual tea making facilities, hairdryer, toiletries etc. We had ordered dinner for 7pm and at about five to reception rang us to say it was about ready. Dinner was lovely and the service brilliant. The bed was very comfy but unfortunately due to inconsiderate people making lots of noise coming back we were woken up a few times. This is no reflection on the hotel just selfish people messing around in corridors after a night out. Maybe some signs would help. To remind people that people are sleeping (it's was 2am lol) breakfast was lovely. A continental and full English. We will definitely go back.

"Great hotel"

Iain O, 07 Janvier 2019

Stayed on the way to the Southwest and had no problems at all. Conveniently located off the A42, clean and good value for money. The food at breakfast and tea were really good too. I will be more than happy to use this location again if in the area.

"Quality Experience"
Passport12881164310, 31 Décembre 2018

Proressional knowledgeable staff, good location. Lovely room, pleasing decor. Not too modern but still up to date, ultra clean and not worn/jaded. Price between Travelodge / Premier Inn hut hut very high standard.

"Bit tired & no Vodka!!"
tomr377, 12 Décembre 2018

The hotel itself is ok. The rooms are a good size but look a little but tired in places. The service at the bar was incredibly slow and there no vodka at all until Thursday, baring in mind this was a Tuesday this wasn't a lot of good. Breakfast was o if a little over-done and dry.

"Avoid at all costs."
gaynor w, 24 Novembre 2018

This has to be the worst hotel I have ever tried to sleep in. The mattress was a thin very old spring one. You are better probably trying to sleep on the floor. But the carpet was so dirty it wasn't possible. Lovely reception who agreed that the beds are shocking. She brought us extra pillows to try to lie on. I got to the stage at 2am in the morning that all I wanted to do was cry. Thanks for ruining what would have been a nice break away with my daughter. This has made my arthritis ten times worse. Disgusting you have not thrown them in the bonfire a couple of weeks ago. Would have given no stars but not possible.

"Party stay"
355timp, 19 Novembre 2018

Stayed one night for a friends birthday party Room was clean and spacious. The bed was big and comfortable Staff were pleasant and polite at both check in and out Bar staff were polite Only downside were that the drinks were expensive Would stay again

"Disgusting, Abusive and Unproffesional"
Mystery_Stopper, 07 Novembre 2018

For a Best Western hotel, for which we are members and will always look for a Best Western option - this hotel fails miserably and does not offer any level of standards. During out stay staff were abusive in demanding payment for a room which was pre-paid. Even telling us to "Expect a Call" in an abusive and threatening manner. Rooms are dirty, not kept to an acceptable level of cleanliness and in fact were only half cleaned. Breakfast is mediocre, never any items available to have despite being advertised and amazingly they do not even have enough cutlery?! Surely that's a basic requirement? Tables not cleaned properly, the same crockery was left for other guests to use?! The hotel manager hides behind her email address and point blankly refuses to acknowledge the issues we experienced or answer any questions put to her. Despicable customer service and all the staff need retraining but then I guess the manager leads by example and is happy to offer a substandard and mediocre service. Hopefully the hotel ownership reads this as Best Western themselves can do nothing due to the hotel being privately owned.

"Last Minute Midweek Stay"
574andrewy, 02 Novembre 2018

Excellent, especially for the price. Room was clean spacious and comfortable with everything you would expect. I had a meal in the bar which was tasty and very good for the price. Staff friendly and efficient. Will definitely stay here again.

"Pleasant Overnight Stay "
gnippot60, 29 Octobre 2018

Just returned from one night stay with national holidays. Hotel very nice. Could not fault our room spotlessly clean very comfy bed. Food was excellent although service for evening meal very slow. Stopped in lot of national holidays hotels this by far the best.

"Family of 5 stay"
Mair D, 26 Octobre 2018

Was a bit worried after reading other reviews before we arrived, but thankfully there was no need to be. Staff friendly and accommodating, organised our rooms to be joined without me getting around to phoning ahead (thanks). All was clean and tidy.

"Not very pleased"
131alexhall, 12 Octobre 2018

Stayed for 3 nights, ate in the restaurant twice and waited over an hour for food when there was only a couple of other people dining. The housekeeper had left my window open and I came back to a room full of bugs! (Only 9 but it felt a lot). The rooms could really do with a bit of a makeover or at least a good clean!! Thick dust on the carpet, dirty marks on the sofa and curtains, debris on the floors in the room and bathroom. Wi-Fi wasn't working in the rooms and very tempramental in the reception area. I felt this hotel was very overpriced for what it offered and I will be recommending it to be removed from our companies 'hotels of choice' list.

"Awful - Don't Stay Here!!!!!"
Nay_R03, 12 Octobre 2018

Stayed here for three nights on business as usual hotel wasn't available. Arrived at the hotel and told my bedroom consisted of a single bed, not particularly happy but what can you do when they're fully booked. Also told breakfast would be an extra charge, and would only be served from 0700-0930. Now I need to be on the road early, so 0700 is no good for me, so I declined. A colleague ate breakfast and mentioned it was poor, and was not worth the £8.50 per morning. The room was hideous, definitely needed decorating, it was something your great grandma would have in their house. The bathroom was small and you couldn't relax in the bath because the bathtub was so small. I had to wash the bath out before I could even use it, as it had head hair and what looked like leg shavings in the bottom. I also had a shower, and the water would automatically go really hot - to the point of boiling - to really cold. The shower head was very low too, and at 5"7, was at my head height, so I had to bend my knees to shower underneath it. The hairdryer was absolutely useless, no heat and no power to it. The WiFi wasn't great either, and staying on business, meant I didn't get much work done. The room was absolutely freezing, and when I went to turn the heater on, it was covered in dust and filth. The window didn't lock properly and you could hear everything going on in the neighbours bedroom - next door and upstairs! The mattress was springy and soft, and was very uncomfortable to sleep on. The restaurant was very slow service, even though there were only a handful of people in, it still took over an hour for a main meal, and a further hour for dessert. The food was tasteless and the service wasn't great. Avoid like the plague!!

"Delicious 3 Course Evening Meal"
Ailish F, 05 Octobre 2018

I spent the night in Appleby Park, the staff were friendly and helpful, the rooms were clean and comfortable. Very happy overall. I enjoyed a 3 course evening meal there and everything was just delicious. Compliments to the Chef!

"Overnight stay in Warwickshire "
katLiverpool, 02 Octobre 2018

We stopped off for one night on our way to London .Hotel was clean ,staff were very friendly, bed was comfy the downside was no hot water in our room and only one towel between us breakfast was lovely it was cooked to perfection it also had sky sports and BT sports in the communal area I would recommend this hotel it's just a shame there was no hot water because otherwise it was perfect for a budget hotel .

"Ok ish"
Tess L, 26 Septembre 2018

To be fair the room was very clean and the staff were lovely. But unfortunately the eye for detail wasn't there. There were minor things that added up. The reception asked me to ensure that the bathroom door was closed when the shower was on as the steam set off the fire alarm, but the door wouldn't close... The WiFi didn't really work in my room. I was there for business reasons and I couldn't connect in my room on my laptop at all, so all the catching up I needed to get done didn't, leaving me a bit behind. There was hardly any signal on my phone, I got a bit of WiFi but it kept on dropping out. Reception tried to help but it didn't work. The bedside light didn't work. The bed was distinctly saggy. The tv would come on when my Fitbit alarm went off, that freaked me out a bit! There was some kind of loud fan noise from outside somewhere so pack your earplugs as I did. Some of the milks in the room were off so they got changed which was fine. And the bar only served English wine, I didn't realise I was a wine snob, I only wanted one glass but when pressed they did find an old bottle of Chardonnay. I didn't bother. As I said the hotel was welcoming and clean, I was only staying there because I was attending a training course but I won't stay there again or recommend that my colleagues do so. An okay basic hotel with secure parking is ok but accept it for what it is.

"Appleby Park hotel"
pa123147, 25 Septembre 2018

Excellent service from booking in to checking out! Very fast efficient service when I booked the room, bed very comfortable and very convenient to places I wished to visit! Breakfast was served quickly and to a high standard.

"Good Hotel"
Alistair S, 20 Septembre 2018

Stayed 2 nights on business. Hotel seemed under refurbishment but no disturbance to guests. Room I had was in need of an overhaul/modernisation but adequate and quiet at night. Restaurant and bar area are good, plenty of seating, food is average but reasonably priced. Live football shown which is always a bonus! Staff are very helpful and friendly which makes the stay pleasant. Large car park with easy access to M42. Wifi offered was not that great in the room but ok in bar/restaurant area. I would recommend and return myself.

"Easy acces Hotel"
IanRGarland, 14 Septembre 2018

Nice hotel, with bar and resturant, also 24 hour MacDonalds across the road at the service station Pleasant staff and nice clean rooms Loads of secure car parking Price very competative against the other chains

"OK"
MPK64, 10 Septembre 2018

Breakfast most mornings was okay. Stayed in two different rooms, one which was stuck in the 90s. The carpet in the lobby is an eyesore and food was very average. The only thing I would say was good was the F&B manager and the two lads.

"Helpful staff"
Lynn C, 01 Septembre 2018

We stayed with our grandaughter aged 8. The reception staff were extremely helpful. I was worried having read some bad reviews but our room was clean and warm enough. We ate there in the evening and the food was fine. Service was a little slow but other than that ok. All the staff were helpful. We will stay here again. It is very convenient for Tywcross zoo, the castle at Ashby de la zouch castle and not too far from Bosworth.

"Dreadful"
msjfd, 27 Août 2018

We stayed there after a family wedding. We booked three rooms. Two of them were in a separate wing across a courtyard and were freezing cold with no climate control. The third room was fine although it was very loud in the corridor late at night and early in the morning. The cleaning staff were nice but the reception and dining staff were unhelpful. The breakfast was the worst we have experienced in a hotel. My son commented it was not a full English but a half cooked breakfast and none of us could eat much of it. For what it offered, it was terrible value for money, as it was quite expensive. Very disappointing.

"Overnight stay"
mtmeasham, 26 Août 2018

One of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. Arrived late evening. Room was freezing. Could not sleep. Had to wear my clothes in order to get warm. Was told next morning thatI should have plugged the radiator in! Room very basic. Breakfast next morning very disappointing. Five of us had to clear a table in order to sit down. Many tables not cleared. Sausages not cooked, no fried eggs. General lack of service. Very disappointing.

"Disappointing second visit"
countrygirl1_10, 19 Août 2018

This place is convenient to relatives so we were using it for a second time, booked this time through Expedia. Our first visit had been very satisfactory, this time we had an incredibly dark and poky room. Asked for a quiet room and were awoken at 7 am by the delivery of a skip right under our window! Despite pointing out to receiption that the outside litter bin was overflowing with rubbish, nothing had been done next morning and car park was littered also. We did not eat there. Dont think we shall stay there again. A definite air of no pride in the place.

"Good location"
Chris A, 09 Août 2018

This place is a decent three star hotel, well located for many attractions such as the National Military Arboretum. Food in the bar is good value and reasonably priced. Staff are friendly and helpful.

"Weekend break"
Gayle D, 06 Août 2018

Had the pleasure of staying at this hotel, 2 adults and 2 children weekend of 4th and 5th august.lovely large and airy rooms adjoining each other one for the adults and one for the children. staff very attentetive, friendly and helpful. rooms had everything we needed for our stay. children didn't want to leave. food was great and drinks reasonably priced. Had a fab nights sleep. highly recommended. thankyou for such a great experience ??

"Lovely 2 night break."
SazzleCleethorpes, 30 Juillet 2018

My partner and I stayed at the hotel on a 2 night break with our 6 year old. We found the hotel to be a great base to visit nearby attractions. The check in was quick and efficient, even though there was a large wedding party booking in at the same time, the lady on reception was helpful and friendly. Our room was a standard double with a single pull out chair bed, and was clean and tidy. There was tea / coffee making facilities in the room, which were stocked up daily by the housekeeper. If you were to stay here, I'd recommend you take your own hairdryer, as due to a heat safety feature your lucky if the dryer runs for more than 40 seconds! The bathroom consisted of a bath with shower over it and was well stocked with shampoo, shower gel and soap. We ate our evening meals at the hotel on both nights, and found the food to be really good and reasonably priced. The service provided by Jack who was working on the main bar and pretty much serving the whole restaurant, was outstanding. Nothing was too much trouble, and this helpful young man was great with the guests. Breakfast on the Sunday morning was a self service buffet, and a few items ran out but we're replaced within 10 mins or so. On the Monday morning, fewer guests meant that breakfast was cooked to order, which was lovely. There was plenty of cereal and bread for toast, yoghurts and fruit salad, with fruit juice and cold milk available. Overall a good hotel, which we'll use again when we're back in the area.

"Make sure your 4yr old doesn't wet the bed, harsh surcharge"
Helen H, 29 Juillet 2018

I stayed here last night with my 4yr old grandson with national holidays, we had a lovely meal on Saturday, room was fine although I couldn't connect to the wifi. This morning we woke to find my grandson, the 4yr old, had wet the bed, I told reception as we booked out, oh no problem said the receptionist, don't worry about it. On the coach I was called back to reception and charged £100, the coach driver was less than pleased, surely as this is a hotel used for drayton manor and twycross zoo accidents should be expected. It's not as if I tried to hide it, I feel I was harshly penalised for my honesty, I could have just turned the mattress and said nothing.

"Two night stay here"
bdon257, 29 Juillet 2018

Three of us stayed in a room with a double bed and a pull out single for our young granddaughter. The room was overlooking a grassed courtyard and was quiet, clean and reasonably equipped. The downside is one of very poor, in fact nonexistent, ventilation in the bathroom. Staff we met were pleasant and efficient. The hotel is very well placed for good road connections in several directions.

"Cheap and cheerful"
Ewa T, 28 Juillet 2018

This hotel's rating is only 3* so I couldn't expect much BUT the smell in the room and bathroom should be dealt with. The sofa bed was badly stained. Mattress squeaky and too soft. On the plus side: nice staff, polite service, fantastic dinner (big portions, tasty food at reasonable price - a lovely surprise!). Breakfast less impressive with no fruits or muffins, or croissants, weak coffee and terrible tastles scrambled eggs. I'd say it's fine for one night but not longer.

"Nice weekend away"
Zara D, 22 Juillet 2018

We booked here as part of a family weekend package with Twycross Zoo tickets. We was checked in with ease and directed to our room, the room was a decent size and very clean. Both mornings we went to breakfast and was greeted by friendly staff, breakfast was buffet self service and was nice food. The second night we also had evening meal here, staff went out of their way to make sure we was happy and comfortable, food was lovely and service was over all very good! We would definitely book here again if we was in the area

"England Football match with colleagues"
GriffCloud, 09 Juillet 2018

A group of 8 of us 7 residents watch the England v Columbia game. Well looked after by the staff, nice food - satisfied us all and the beer was flowing to keep the team in tune with 3 lions. All in all a good meal and great result and the staff really played a blinder! #cominghome

"2.5 out of 5"
thegunners1978, 05 Juillet 2018

Very very average. Is quite dated. Very basic bedrooms. Some dubious stains on the carpet. Breakfast was a joke. Tables weren't laid at 8.30am. Was just a total mess. I ended up sitting on a dirty table covered in crumbs. The restaurant was marginally better for an evening meal, even though the restaurant itself was like a big empty function room. If I'm back here on business I will work hard to find another hotel. There must be better that this in the area.

"Small step up from Premier Inn"
Endometrium, 26 Juin 2018

Definitely nicer than your average Premier Inn style hotel but very much in the same characterless class. Everything is completely OK but nothing at all is special. Room was too hot (in a heatwave) and no way to cool - window only opens a crack. No outside bar or garden space - on a hot evening. WiFi speed in room very slow. Staff all a bit process driven and unable to interact personally. That said at the price it's better value for money and more pleasant than most or all hotel alternatives.

"Weekend stay"
Heather F, 13 Juin 2018

We stayed for a couple of nights as we were attending a festival 20mins away. The hotel appeared clean, the bed was comfortable and the double room was a decent size with an on suite double sized shower. There is plenty of parking at the front of the hotel and the service was polite and friendly.

"Avoid if you don't want to be treated like sheep"
PaulMeash, 07 Juin 2018

My family travelled to meet my newborn baby and decided to stay in this hotel. When we arrived at the hotel, we found that their room had been given to somebody else by mistake. The employee at the desk asked us to sit down and wait while she served other customers (twice). Then she asked her manager whether she should keep the same price for the room (really?). Finally (after 1h) they gave us a room with a double bed instead of the twin beds originally booked, meaning that my pregnant sister had to share the bed with my other sister (not the end of the world if the issue had been solved promptly and politely). No apologies whatsoever from the employee at the desk or her manager. Of course we are never coming back to this hotel. Which is a shame for them because my family visits several times a year.

"Staying for 4 nights it's ok "
paulchap, 05 Juin 2018

Working in nearby Hinckley for the week my company booked the hotel, a little far out of Hinckley but doable, 30 min drive at 7.30am and the same back. Nice clean and friendly hotel ate here last night food was ok, nice pork on bubble and squeak with a cider sauce, the desert though was very nice in deed, coffee creme brûlée with a salted caramel ice-cream worth a try if you stay here. And tinned tomato's for breakfast too.

"Perfectly Adequate"
Margaret252, 30 Mai 2018

We stayed here for two nights while visiting relatives and found it to be perfectly adequate for such a trip. The first room we were allocated did smell a bit musty but we were offered a different room after only a muttered 'well it's just been cleaned'! The second room was exactly the same in layout and facilities, so I expect they are all identical. The rooms are smaller than the nearby Premier Inn at Ashby and probably of a similar price. Our bed was very soft but we did both sleep well. The reception staff were efficient but didn't ever say hello or good morning as we passed. The bar manager was very pleasant when we visited the (empty) bar - maybe the prices would account for that. Breakfast on the first morning was excellent. There were few of us in the restaurant, so hot meals were cooked to order and were delicious. They were much busier the next day, having had a coach tour in overnight, so there was a hot buffet, which wasn't as good. Coffee and tea were provided on a help yourself basis, which was fine but the lack of teaspoons was somewhat baffling. When I asked for one, the waitress had to get it from the bar and told me that when they put them out, they just disappear! I'm not sure whether we'll return.

"Again Not Dissapointed"
Keith H, 30 Mai 2018

Stayed here on Friday the 18th and was very well looked in the restaurant after by Daniel Willison. with prompt service and a good rapport We returned on Saturday the 26th and was greeted very warmly by the two reception staff Georgia and Renona Both young ladies a credit to the company. In the restaurant that evening we were once again looked after very well by Lucy Jarvis. Our room on both occasions was spotless so to you all Thank you

"Miss communication from staff"
25SJ97, 29 Mai 2018

Booked through a wowcher deal, when I booked I was told that to add breakfast it was £4.50p/p for each morning, so i decided to book breakfast for 4 people for one of the morning, the hotel sent an email confirming this and the price at checkout would be £18. There was then an issue with one of the codes for the deal (notified by a letter in the room, after we had clearly placed a do not disturb sign on the door!!) and had to go to reception to deal with this, which after 20 minutes was solved, whilst there the lady in training was dealing with another customer who had been told that they could book breakfast with the wowcher deal on the day they arrived for £4.50 and this was how much they were charged when arriving. When we checked out we were then told breakfast was £5.50 p/p and the lady on reception said i wasnt told £4.50 when the email clearly stated this and still said it was wrong even though the email stated this. Serious lack of communication between staff regarding the price and receptionist very rude and stubborn on the matter. When checking in there was also confusion with the receptionist about the tickets for the zoo, and instead of reassuring us, the lady got into a tizz about what she had to do and whether or not the tickets were the correct ones we needed. The room was nice except the kettle which was mouldy. Understandable why the deal was cheap. Lady who ran breakfast was very chatty and pleasant and made up for the rest of the staff.

"Restaurant"
zara l, 29 Mai 2018

The staff were very polite to start with and explained the gas wasn't working in the kitchen so they had a limited menu. We had four kids with us and explained as long as they did children's meals it would be ok. The only kids meals they did came as a package with a drink and dessert for £8.95 which seemed dear but it was getting late and we had a long motorway drive so just went with it. But what the staff did not tell us is they obviously not only didn't have gas in the kitchen but also didn't have a competent chef who could manage the total of four other couples that came in to eat in the restaurant whilst we were there (not what I would call busy). We waited around 45 minutes to receive burnt pizza and chips, with crust that nearly took out my niece's tooth, so they only ate the middle, and i got chicken panini when I'd ordered a vegetarian one, so i gave the chicken to the kids and just ate the bread and salad. Also we hadn't even been offered the included childrens drinks at this point. We regrettably didn't complain at this point however as we did not have the time to wait another 40 minutes for them to bring anything else. After the meal I asked if we could order the kids deserts and if there was a wait on them as we needed to go. The waiter took our order and said they'd be quick. However 20 minutes later no one had even cleared the table and we were still waiting for the kids ice cream. There was nobody even in the restaurant to ask. So I went to the bar and asked for the bill as we couldn't wait any longer. We then got quite rudely told to go pay at the bar. No discount was given for us not receiving the desserts, have burnt pizza, the wrong meal given, the limited menu or the fact after being there nearly two hours and the kids were still waiting for a dessert. The only response we got "was well did you eat it" not exactly a measure of what I call a good restaurant. So if you have all the time in the world and want to pay £10 for a meal that is mostly "edible" provided you are not vegetarian, after waiting nearly an hour for it, then go here.

My wife and Myself stayed this weekend ,but the stay was spoilt from the very start,we used a voucher deal and when we rang up to book ,they said we could have breakfast for £5.50 ,when we tried to book breakfast on arrival they said this was not a option and it would be £8.50 ,they literally said we were lying ,when we asked to see the manager ,they said there wasn't one,and come back tomorrow,so we did ,and again they never appeared, this spoilt our stay from start to the end ,and all this over a total of £12 ,the poor lady on reception was left training always on her own,and the only bright note was the cleaning lady ,who was fantastic . All in all this company needs training on customer satisfaction

rubenuk2003, 23 Mai 2018

having booked this after buying the wowcher deal,we discovered we couldn't go due to work commitments,as it was non refundable i offered it to my brother and his family, they accepted and i rang to change the name. This was fine until it was mentioned that he had twin baby girls, i was told that they would have to go in a separate room as it was 'company policy' maximum of three to a room,i rang and spoke to a manager who fobbed me off with 'insurance purposes' now i can understand why this hotel is on wowcher

"Fantastic hotel"
GrahamCarey, 18 Mai 2018

As soon as you arrive this hotel is fantastic. Large spacious car park with we'll maintain grounds. The receptionist Mandi was extremely helpful and friendly. The room was large clean and the bed comfortable. Wi-if was ok but not a brilliant speed - made work slow. Tea and coffee facilities were ok with the normal about in hotels for 2 cups of coffee only. Breakfast was really good. Buffet style withe food cooked really well.

"A senior break"
Jo M, 07 Mai 2018

Hotel is a little out of the way but the welcome made up for that. We were a coach load of mostly pensioners and staff couldn't have been nicer. Daniel the manager was lovely and Jack (In training) was very helpful and is definitely in the right direction with his job in hospitality. They really didn't know what hit them with our jolly group, they did put on entertainment of first night and we danced the night away. The other two nights we had to entertain ourselves and on final night we put on a show for everybody including other guests, it was a hoot! Breakfast was super and it really was real fruit salad not your tinned variety. Dinner wasn't perfect but I have eaten a lot worse, over all it was a very enjoyable stay with very friendly and helpful staff.

"Lacking attention to detail"
gordon664, 01 Mai 2018

This hotel appears to have undergone some updating, in respect of décor, furniture and equipment, but still has a slightly dated feel. It is easy to find and gain access to and the welcome at reception was very good. The cleanliness of the room left a bit to be desired, due only to lack of attention, application to the job and poor management. After mentioning this to reception at checkout, notes were taken and I received a call later in the day, from, I presume (I was driving at the time) housekeeping management. to offer apology and assurance that remedial action and management plans would take place. Breakfast was efficient, with good choice and quality. Overall it wouldn't take much to make this hotel better and I believe they are on their way towards that. I would be happy to give it benefit of doubt and go there again.

"Handy location and helpful staff"
DMC1958, 30 Avril 2018

Arrived late due to traffic issues. That said the staff were very helpful. Due to the late arrival and early departure we did not use the bar or have breakfast in the morning. The room was clean and warm and the bed comfortable. I would certainly stop here again. Take care if approaching from the M42 westbound, the lane marking on the slip road and junction can throw you off to the first exit, when you want the second exit to get onto the entrance road to the hotel.

"Lovely, welcoming stafg"
Sonya C, 29 Avril 2018

Hotel is well positioned for motorways however not noisy. Rooms are spacious and modern. Nice comfy bed and also had a bath which is a bonus. Breakfast was separate payment of £10.95 but worth it as lots of choice and it was lovely. Nice hotel, great staff and good value for money. May I specially mention mandie who checked us in. Lovely friendly woman who was very helpful . Thank you , we would not hesitate to recommend or stay here again

"Reunion"
Waterfinder1, 29 Avril 2018

We had our annual submarine reunion at this hotel, very difficult to find as the post code is no where near the hotel according to the sat nav, several of us had the same problem, and having read some of the reviews was a little dubious of how our stay was going to turn out. However on arrival we found that the hotel is spacious and the rooms were clean and well maintained . The staff were both helpful and efficient, and the food and service was second to none. The only slight problem was that the lift at times had a mind of its own and would refuse to work, however this did not affect our stay. All in all a brilliant hotel, fantastic staff, lovely food, great rooms, a very pleasant venue for our reunion.

"Dinner a complete disaster"
Jacquie J, 24 Avril 2018

Joined friends for dinner. Stayed over. Room clean. Bed not good at all. Hotel needs to invest in decent mattresses. Food was dreadful. Soup tasted more like a sweet dessert. Salmon accompanied by roast potatoes which were hard and burnt...ghastly. vegetables etc., smothered in a sweet sauce!!!!! Went to bed hungry!!!! Whole meal was a complete disaster and the price for what was served Extortionate!!!!!!.

"One Night Stay"
2014Jandy, 22 Avril 2018

We were visiting Lichfield and wanted somewhere to stay over and as this hotel is only a short drive away it was in an ideal location. Everything went smoothly at check in and the room was fine with everything we needed and a good shower. Plenty of parking at the front of the hotel. Breakfast was buffet style but plenty of choice. Only negative that there were no fried eggs only scambled which were a bit watery. Overall a good stay and would book again if visiting the area.

"Disappointed"
fonsbikes, 29 Mars 2018

Firstly I'd like to say the reception staff in both the evening of arrival and morning of departure were great 5 stars. The room itself was disappointing. Blocked sink a little tired but my main observation was the mattress was cheap and nasty, overly soft and very springy. Not the quality I would have expected of a hotel like this. On the positive our room was quiet.

"Lovely hotel "
Dan M, 20 Mars 2018

Stayed here for 2 nights whilst visiting Twycross Zoo which is nearby. Staff were warm, friendly and attentive. Rooms were nice with all the facilities required. Food was very good as well. Would return.

"poor rooms"
canadabound, 07 Mars 2018

hotel postcode entered into Sat Nav did not lead to hotel! initial impression of hotel good with decent reception area/bar however went downhill when opened bedroom door twin bedded room with little space between and an uncomfortable couch laid out to make room cramped bathroom dated there were over 20 of us booked in for a work conference so my bedroom was not an isolated example-most of us thought same and we are used to staying in hotels for work purposes we met up in bar area as was too depressing to stay in room fortunately we had our actual meeting and food at nearby Twycross Zoo conference facilities so minimal time at hotel woken early morning by people walking past in corridor talking in normal volume but amplified into room would certainly not choose to stay here again and reflects badly on Best Western brand

"Excellent stay"
yummymummy1972, 19 Février 2018

I stayed here for two nights with my partner and two children. Check in was fast, friendly and thorough. Michelle was very welcoming. We had a double with adjoining room which was spotlessly clean and loads of room. We ate in the restaurant and I can honestly say it was the best pizza I've ever had, we all really enjoyed it. The gin selection was great ! Breakfast was amazing you can tell they use locally sourced produce, we were late on the second morning and they waited for us to turn up. Nothing was ever to much trouble for any member of staff. Would definitely recommend.

"Shocking customer service with 0.031 meg broadband and no company refund."
Benjamin T, 12 Février 2018

Shocking service at this Best western, Arrived checked in tried to email documents for work was unable to even load email due to the terrible broadband speed. I asked reception to refund the company as I would move hotels as I had a night of email ahead of me for work the next day. I was rudely advised that no refund would be offered and the broadband was so bad because the entire hotel was on it!! So now the company is out of pocket for a second hotel which I can actually work from, thank god there was a travel lodge near by.

"Mr"
Julian S, 31 Janvier 2018

Very easy access off junction 11 A42, comfy rooms and a decent size with iron and ironing board, good free wi fi and good choices on the dinner menu with a specials board which I find the best helpful and friendly staff.

"Very average"
Lance B, 24 Janvier 2018

Stayed here for one night as part of a National Holidays package deal. Hotel is ok but the evening meal was very poor. Although they were willing to swap the salmon for chicken it did not alter the fact that the meal was frozen mixed vegetables with two cold, tough, burnt frozen roast potatoes. Breakfast was much better. Room was functional and clean but the hotel is realyy in need of some refurbishment with very dark corridors. Would not really choose to stay here again.

"Excellent service"
Sarah E, 09 Janvier 2018

Fairly basic room, great value for money. Staff are fantastic. Travel alone and they were a great help. Really welcoming lounge and reception area. Really handy location just off A42. Used to stay at Travelodge off next junction. This hotel just that one step better for no extra money

"Disappointing"
GrumpyGInvernes, 08 Janvier 2018

My wife and I booked a double room at this 'hotel', conveniently located near a sevice station on the north end of the M42. Apparently mistakenly thinking we'd booked a "superior" room we were given a "refurbished" room in a separate building across a draughty, cold and wet courtyard. The bathrom floor was, literally, giving way (probably a long standing leak from the shower (no bath). The king-sized bed had a duvet sized for a double: it only reached just to the edge of the mattress, so we had to ask reception to provide something more suitable. To their credit they did so, and promptly, but I had the impression this had happened before - "Have I got to go duvet hunting?". The mattress was soggy and unsupportive, so not great (for me anyway) for a good night. The photos of the hotel show cushions for both the bed and the sofa - there were none. Minus marks for housekeeping, but the room was clean. The free wifi was very hit and miss, apparently having been recently upgraded, but when it did work, for either smart phone or laptop, it logged us straight in without the password provided. Breakfast was the usual "full english" options being kept barely warm under infra-red lamps: fruit, yogurt and cereals, the latter available from giant tupperware style lidded bowls. The coffee, from a vacuum pumped container, was also warm, not hot, and almost certainly instant. Brown and white sliced bread for toast from a "conveyor" toaster under a notice saying "Don't change the settings". One 'pass' in the machine was insufficient to achieve the promised "golden" browning, two passes and it's almost burnt. The tiled floor in front of the toast area was sticky undefoot. In fairness I should say the staff were friendly and helpful, and the public spaces generous, but all in all a disappointing stay. We didn't ask for money off, and it wasn't offered, but if this is typically "Best Western" I'm sorry but I'd rather go to Premier Inn.

"Excellent value and a great teamy"
alison323566, 04 Janvier 2018

Great team in place who are very friendly and helpful and always have a smile when you arrive. The rooms are a good size the beds are very comfortable and the general amenities are good all round. I would recommend this hotel

"Fantastic value"
Mufty99, 04 Janvier 2018

We stayed here for an impromptu stop over during the recent spell of snowy weather. It was excellent value for money, only £37.50 for a double room via Booking.com We could not fault the place at this price. Functional, warm, clean and very convenient for the motorway. We will certainly use Appleby Park again.

"Welcome stopover"
northangel12, 23 Décembre 2017

Booked to break a long Christmas journey. Lovely hotel. Friendly staff. Enjoyed meals especially breakfast. Open plan lounge/ diner. Had a Christmas party in but once through reception doors couldn't hear any noise. Room was clean, comfortable bed. Nice powerful hot shower. Even though it didn't cost me as booked through Tesco Clubcard would definitely recommend for motorway stopover.

"Overnight motorway stop"
Michael B, 21 Décembre 2017

Just of M42. Offers large car park - but unclear exit directions. Room of a good size with free upgrade as a card holder. Reasonable choice of dishes for evening meal. Breakfast offered a good choice of dishes, but only one choice of eggs. Internet worked without any problems.

"one night stay on coach trip"
Margaret P, 17 Décembre 2017

pleasantly surprised by this hotel .evening meal was limited choice but what we had was tasty and hot when served , room was clean and comfortable ..breakfast was amazing .help your self but a great choice of foods .. staff were very helpful ..on coach trips found out hotels can be very hit and miss this one is great will go again

"Two day course"
Gosling9, 12 Décembre 2017

This was a nice little hotel/upmarket lodge style property, handily placed just off the M42. Ample car parking, friendly staff and the place had bright, tastefully decorated bar/bar eatery, as well as a cosy little restaurant area. The evening menu was of average content but the food itself really nice. I had Gammon and Eggs first night and Fish and Chips the following, simple food book cooked well and very enjoyable. The breakfast was also good, buffet style, my only complaint-no fried eggs! Rooms were suffice if a bit small and the matress on the bed was bowed making it feel like you were in a hammock. There was insufficient extraction for steam in the bathroom and you were warned on check in and by notices around the room, to keep door tightly shut in case fire alarms were activated. These were right outside the door, fair enough but it meant the bathroom was very uncomfortable, if you needed to do anything after your shower. But for this would have rated higher.

"Saturday night in the snow"

Great room very clean well presented, seemed better than recent travelodge nearby. Had steak and ale pie in the restaurant very nice and friendly service, few beers at the bar. Would certainly stop here again.

"Good Business Hotel"
540RegA, 07 Décembre 2017

Having stayed 70 plus nights in hotels throughout the UK so far this year, the BW Appleby Park Tamworth was not by far the worst of them! Staff were friendly and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. Food, although limited menu was very good and plentiful, but not very much choice. The rooms that I stayed in (two consecutive weeks) are best described as utilitarian, but comfortable and fit for purpose. I have been having trouble finding a good hotel in this area for the right price and this will fit the bill. However, dining room resembles a barn and could do with some much needed refurbishment and re-decoration. Otherwise OK!

"Lovely hotel. Really nice food."
beckyhar1974, 25 Novembre 2017

Stayed here overnight with a coach tour. The staff were very helpful and friendly and the food was really good, especially the breakfast as there was a good choice of everything. We would definitely stay here again.

"Basic rooms - great food"
Lirac, 24 Novembre 2017

I was disappointed with the room, which I thought was clean but basic. Limited toiletries (no body lotion) and a makeshift desk but no chair to access it so ended up trying to work on my laptop in an armchair. The food was a very pleasant surprise - all members of the group commented on how good it was - steaks cooked very well with lovely acoompaniments, and excellent lasagne. A good selection of wines, very reasonably proced. Well-situated if visiting the area. Would I stay here again? Probably!

"Stayed while on a course near by"
Minchers, 21 Novembre 2017

Company booked this place as they regularly use it and I found it comfortable with good food. Breakfast buffet was well stocked and plentiful. Although we had to eat really early so wasn't able to maximise benefit from it. Evening meal was included in room with the exception of steaks and lamb dishes I treated myself one night and it was well worth the couple of quid I paid. Steak was a nice piece of meat cooked to perfection and melted in my mouth. Was able to have starter and main or main and pudding which is reasonable. And the selection was good too. Room was comfortable and plenty spacious for me on my own. Tea and coffee facilities in room and able to get top up supplies from reception as needed. Plenty of parking and a nice modern lobby / dining room.

"Lovely stay"
Adrienne B, 20 Novembre 2017

Me and my partner really enjoyed our one night stay at the best western Appleby Park hotel. The staff were very friendly, welcoming and helpful. The hot breakfast buffet wasn't on (presumably due to the hotel being quiet as it was a Monday morning) but we could create our own hot breakfast to order, and there was cereal, toast, hot drinks, juices, pastries and more available at the buffet. The food tasted nice. The room was cosy and the bed very comfy and had a sizeable bathroom with a bath and shower. We didn't have a room service menu in our room so we weren't able to use that, but the facilities in the hotel definitely made up for it with a restaurant and bar which were open until around 10/11. We would definitely stay here again :)

"Good Stay"
irishboy84, 12 Novembre 2017

Stopped here with coach tour, room was very clean, food was delicious with large portion and service was excellent, all staff very friendly and mainly young asian lady running alone serving and clearing tables, I would definitely think about stopping again.

"Wowcher "
Amber B, 12 Novembre 2017

We came here on a wowcher deal including tickets to Twycross Zoo. The room was fine it was clean and well equipped and as you would expect for 3*. The receptionist was lovely and really good to our 5 year old. The only downside to our stay was breakfast, the first morning we arrived at 9 am and was met with a very grumpy waitress. My husband and son went straight to hot breakfast and I went for some cereal, while I was eating my cereal they took the hot breakfast food away 1.5 hours before breakfast finished?! So no hot food for me then they took the milk so you couldn't have cereal! The second morning we came earlier and again met by rude waitress who said we couldn't sit in the rear dining room as it was being deep cleaned?! We were made to sit by the freezing front doors. Hot breakfast was ok but only 1 choice of egg (scrambled ish) quality ok but service is terrible and they don't want to refill anything, milk juice you have to ask and then get grunted at! At £4.50 it's good value if you get anything but there is a McDonald's across the road and Twycross is open to all and they do breakfast and you get a smile :)

"Nice hotel, comfy bed"
ninismith86, 08 Novembre 2017

Room good, bed comfortable and the breakfast was very good with a good variety of food. On my first night i had a burger for dinner which wasn't great but i had lasagne the following night which was much better.

"The Tamworth experience"
Peter H, 05 Novembre 2017

Having come from three nights in another BW hotel, in inner city, we were looking forward to our next two days.in the country! Sadly, the experience did not bear too close a comparison. While the staff were friendly enough, and well presented, there was not the same attention to detail or service that we had anticipated. The rooms were fine and parking was plentiful, but we found the breakfast choices, presentation and heat of the hot food disappointing. Speed of service was surprising in view of the small numbers of residents.

"Good hotel"
Holiday-Lady25, 04 Novembre 2017

Came here over night while on a national holiday weekend break. Hotel was very clean and tidy staff were friendly and happy to help you. Food was nice. If I was down this way again I would definitely think about stopping here.

"Good stay!"
alwhite2014, 29 Octobre 2017

Stayed here this weekend. Was lovely hotel reception very modern and stylish. Check inn was very good and quick. Room was big very comfortable bed. However could do with updating in certain areas. Overall stay was good. Breakfast was continental lots of choice. Litrally across the road there is a servuce station if needed

"A Warm Welcome"

Stopped at the hotle last night with the wowcher deal had a really nice time all the staff was lovely apart from one was exceptional and out standing in her job role elizabeth. Made me an my family feel very welcome when in the restaurant were we had a lovely meal. Would definitely stay again an highly recommend it for the wowcher deal.

"Very poor service"
Andrew F, 25 Octobre 2017

Stayed 5 nights with group on DBB basis. Restaurant food and service just not good enough for a Best Western Hotel. Food repetitive, must have bought job lot of peas and carrots, other veg in short supply? Cheesecake and fruit salad over and over again, food quality and presentation also poor. Service was none existent in mornings, tables did not get cleared and finding staff to get extras (porridge or an egg ) was hard work. Evenings not much better slow service again. Hotel obviously does not deal with groups usually and seemed only interested in its one nighters. On a plus was rooms were clean and tidy although some of our group complained bins were not emptied and tea/coffee were not restocked.

"Not the best I'm afraid!"
LeeAtkinson, 21 Octobre 2017

I have just returned from a 5 night stay here. And I'm afraid I can't give it a glowing report. We arrived late Sunday for a week's work course. The menu on the first night was average. But we told Monday to Thursday it would be ordered from a set menu. The food from this menu was such small portions and depending what you picked was not very nice at all. The breakfast again was terrible. Only continental no full English. Now for this course we had to have our uniforms military tidy. But the hotel didn't have any iron or ironing boards in any of its rooms. Only a few to lend out to 20 of us which caused absolute nightmares for everyone on the course. The beds... I have slept on more comfortable chairs. Sleeping was a big issue for me I didn't manage to get more than 4 hours every night. The showers are powerful but so low you have to be on bended knees to wet your head. There was no sockets next to your bed only on the table at the side of the room. Every single night we came back non of our room cards worked which caused a massive queue at reception every night. We we're told to keep them away from phones which we did but still wouldn't work. They also have a small conference room and one night we asked if we could go in there in private to practise a play we had to do. We we're told by the waitress that the manager Mark had said no because it was set up for the next day but not being used that night. We said we only needed a private room to quickly practise what we had to do. And assured nothing would be touched or moved. But he would not budge. The only reason this place gets a star is because one of the waitresses was really nice and friendly. I would not return or reccomend this hotel to anyone I'm afraid.

"Comfortable but very poor service"
bigald01, 21 Octobre 2017

Just been on a bowling tour staying at this Hotel for 5 nights the rooms were very clean but that was it the food that was served to our group was very poor the waiting staff were very slow & we waited for ages to be served the Menu was very poor & if you wanted a bread roll with your meal you had to have soup, I don't like to complain but i would not recommend any coach party to stay at this Hotel they seemed to be more interested in the one night Business man on expenses

"Great for business and family stop overs."
Michael C, 17 Octobre 2017

Postcode got me lost so look on google earth first. Opposite the filling station and Mc Donalds just off the roundabout. Plenty of parking. Away from any built up area. Very safe for parking. Rooms very clean and well serviced. Nice and quiet as in the countryside. Not far from the zoo. Breaakfast is very good. I like and recommend this place.

"Excellent Place to Hold meeting"
Jayne J, 17 Octobre 2017

Had an overnight conference here, excellent, service food value! Meeting Room light and modern 15 mins from M6 and M1 so great location. The service throughout the day was just right not too fussy and everything on time

"Poor service"
Tony S, 15 Octobre 2017

We are a group of 38 people staying for 5 nights .Dinner Sunday evening it seems that this hotel is not capable of looking after large numbers .Extra bread rolls were requested response after we have finished serving every one. This was non existent as some people did not even have one to go with their soup. On one table the quality of the roast beef was atrocious they stated that is was inedible it was black and burnt. On that same table some were still waiting for their main course when some were finishing their suite. The attitude of the senior staff was of a could not care attitude . Hopefully this situation will improve

"Best friends wedding"
Sstretton, 02 Octobre 2017

Lovely stay, clean and welcoming. Lovely stay with a group of friends before her wedding. Big rooms and nice bar and lounge area. Plenty of parking and good location. Staff very helpful and pleasant. All round a lovely girly night.

"Business stop over"
Faugh, 02 Octobre 2017

Start off with the negative, beware using satnav for directions. The postcode puts you outside a large home half a mile away from the actual hotel. The actual location is just off the roundabout off the A42 hidden amongst the trees. Once arrived things progressed quickly and efficiently. The gentleman on reception was booking in a customer but still took the time to make eye contact and acknowledge me queuing. Processed, key issued, wifi password given as well as gate code for the room. Room was clean and tidy, tv worked as did the kettle. But now for a couple of niggles. Firstly wifi password had been updated but incorrectly annotated on the hand out, secondly the sink plug/plunger didn't work properly draining extremely slowly. Both reported to reception, correct password giving and the issue with the sink to be passed on to maintenance the next morning. Booking out the next morning was also quick and efficient, overall good value for money and would stay again.

"Convenient location, with exceptional staff & service"
Edwin G, 01 Octobre 2017

Used the hotel on a number of occasions as an overnight stop-off. Good location, very clean and well presented, and very helpful and friendly staff. The rooms could do with a bit of updating and decorating but spotlessly clean, and well presented. Will use again.

"Frustrating!"
FRouse3, 29 Septembre 2017

We headed out to the Appleby Park for a family meal for my Parent's wedding anniversary. The first half dozen visits I have made here for food were great. Staff lovely, food good quality and service excellent but something has changed. The last three visits have just been increasingly poor but those initial visits made me think it was worth going back. Kicking myself now! The last visit where I took some friends out for lunch one of them ended up wearing a pint of lemonade thanks to the waiter. He was then more concerned with drying the floor than assisting her in getting dry and then went on to try to charge us for the drink. Agreed the drink was replaced but that didn't pay for the dry cleaning bill or the fact she had to sit there covered in sticky liquid. Thank goodness she wasn't on the coffee! Last night headed up to celebrate my parent's wedding anniversary. Arrived at 6pm. The only people in the restaurant. Took 40 minutes for food to arrive. Had to ask for onion rings to be brought out. Afte 15 mins waiter asked if all ok. My steak was so salty was inedible. He did take it away and then returned with a new piece. No apology. Granted it is rib eye so you expect a small amount of fat but not gristle. This second piece was undercooked on inside but charred on outside..was to be medium. Again told waiter and said at time was not prepared to pay for the steak meal. Rest of meals ok but temperature of them varied one pizza and the carbonara only luke warm but we weren't wanting to be too late so just got on with it. Puddings ... hmmm. The strudel you expect to be light and crispy yet the pastry was solid. The delice had the weirdest sauce with it...still not sure what it was. Waiting staff...well polite enough but the grubby festival bands around the wrist aren't a great look and don't make you think hygiene is a top priority. Then we get to the bill...steak still on it. Told by waiter best they could offer was a free desert. Explained I had already said wasn't paying for steak. Asked to see manager. Told wasn't going to change things as that was what he'd been told to offer. It took to the point where I had to raise my voice and threaten to head over to the main desk on my crutches for him to agree to fetch over the most senior person. Not sure who she was as had no badge nor did she introduce herself. After a conversation the steak meal was removed. In all this time only 3 other people in restaurant and they did have a rugby team go through on a carvery style meal ... not exactly a busy Friday night in a restaurant. So that is it the bridges have been burnt. We've given the Appleby Hotel fair chance. It's such as shame as the initial visits were so good and it was great to have somewhere local to take Business Clients too.

"Shortage of Staff"
Tilly080845, 14 Septembre 2017

East check in and the rooms were comfortable. The food was very good but there was a long wait for it. The serving staff were overworked and at one point the barman, when he was not busy, came to clear tables. The staff themselves could not do enough for you but, as said previously, they were overstretched.

"Twanging Beds!"
Kaan R, 12 Septembre 2017

We recently stayed at the Best Western Appleby Park and must say we were not impressed at all. At the time of booking, we were informed that there were no family rooms were available and would we be happy with a twin room which was not an issue for us. We did not realise that the beds in a twin room would be significantly lower quality than the beds in a family room. The beds twanged every time you moved and you could feel every spring that was contained within the mattress. We mentioned the issue to the person on reception, however, she simply said that some guests who have stayed previously would ask to only receive the same room at booking as they prefer the mattress in that room. I questioned why there was not a brand standard across your range of rooms as surely if a mattress is beyond the comfort levels expected in a hotel of your standing then it should be replaced. She simply said that she would inform housekeeping but offered no apology. This is not the level of service we expect from Best Western and have now booked an alternative hotel for our next visit to the area and will not be visiting this location again.

Great service on check-in by Mark. The room was large, spotless and had everything for a great stay. The hotel was busy and had a band playing in the reception/bar area. I had an evening meal in the restaurant which was good. I would have no hesitation in staying here again.

Excellent location just off M42. Rooms were very clean, wonderful bed and an excellent shower. We were in a party of 13 and were given a private room for both nights we had evening meals. Mark and his staff were friendly and helpful. Altogether an excellent weekend.

"Fab hotel"
Samwadge76, 04 Septembre 2017

I visited this hotel as part of a living social voucher. The hotel was spotless, the staff were very helpful and friendly. The rooms were spacious and clean, house keeping came daily. I would visit again.

"Perfect for what I needed"
GFrankers, 21 Août 2017

The staff were friendly and efficient, the room was very quiet and clean. The shower was hot and powerful - what more do you need? Oh yes the wifi was a bit flakey and there is no cell phone or 3G/4G signal so no wifi was an issue! The rooms do not have a/c so this might be an issue when the weather is very hot but I had absolutely no complaints - I would stay here again if I was in the area.

"Wowcher visit"
Charlotte J, 19 Août 2017

We stayed as part of a wowcher offer and visited Twycross Zoo. The hotel was clean and the staff very friendly and helpful. The only negatives were lack of plug sockets in the rooms, very slow at breakfast replenishing selection when they ran low. We had a sofa bed for my daughter which had the thinnest mattress on. Staff very helpful in solving the problem especially the housekeeper who came minutes after me telling reception. Would visit again and use as a base to explore

"Excellent staff"
Julie M, 19 Août 2017

Stayed for 2 nights whilst visiting Drayton Manor. Mark (manager) and all staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms were lovely. My son (who is Autistic) left one of his trains behind and Mark went up and searched our room for it and has offered to post it back. All meals were lovely. Will definitely recommend and be back. Thank you.

"Good Value - excellent breakfast"
Fiona P, 15 Août 2017

We stayed as part of a wowcher deal so it was excellent value. The breakfasts were amazing and only cost £4.50 a day when booked in advance - free for under 5s. The rooms were fine and clean. I found the staff challenging, very laid back and uninterested. I had taken the time to email prior to our stay and request the sofa bed was not made up, I had no reply and had to put the bed away myself to put our travel cot up which annoyed me! The onsite restaurant was ok but I don't think they had enough staff, we were a table of 6 and the only people there, another table to 6 arrived and were told they would have to wait for 15 minutes

"It's the people who make a hotel"
markpjarvis, 08 Août 2017

I booked several rooms for family as we were at a wedding at Twycross Zoo that weekend - this included sets of adjoining rooms and additional rooms booked for guests at the last minute. These were all accommodated with a smile by Mark on reception. However, Mark was supported by a team of friendly and helpful staff who always looked at how they could help us out. The hotel itself is a fairly standard example of its type with a good location just off the M42 and is close to quite a few attractions. It has all the features that you'd expect but as the title says - I found the staff really special - which is not at all usual in this type of hotel and they are to be commended on their attitude.

"Good value visit"
snappyo7, 04 Août 2017

We visited as part of a woucher deal - for 2 nights - for what it was it was really good value but it was not one of the cleanest hotels we have stayed in - very basic amenities. Staff polite but not particularly friendly - we are in the restaurant- food was good and the service was good although we had to wait 25 minutes for a bowl of ice cream as they were busy??!! Breakfast in second morning was not very well organised- with nothing being ready i.e. No eggs. Good basic stay - good value with the deal but lacked that little 'extra' - would not return.

"Ideal base for checking out the surrounding area"
LouiseYP, 01 Août 2017

We had a two night deal with tickets to the zoo included. It was a gift so I can't confirm value for money. We did have to pay extra as family of four and deal was for family of three which I found strange. We had a very pleasant stay. We had inter-connecting rooms so with two children (9&5) there was plenty of room and two bathrooms - fab. The room was clean and functional, I could be picky if I chose (one of the mugs was cracked, the vent in the bathroom was full of fluff, the shower left a puddle on the floor etc) but overall none of this affected our stay. There was Tea and coffee in the rooms and toiletries in the bathroom. The beds weren't the most comfy but we all slept well so couldn't have been too bad. We also paid extra for the buffet breakfast, plenty of choice, fruit, yoghurt, cereal, full cooked (egg, sausage, bacon, mushrooms, beans, eggs, hash browns...) toast, crumpets and pastries plus juice, teas and coffee. Set us up for the day. This was a perfect base to explore the area, less the five minutes drive from Twycross Zoo and we also explored Leicester and Loughborough. We were recommended to go to 'conkers' but we ran out of time. Would definitely stay here again as there was a lot to visit in the area

"clean and comfortable"
Ann B, 31 Juillet 2017

Friendly welcome from reception staff Mark, and the evening staff in the bar and restaurant, Henry. If you want tickets to local attractions staff are more than willing to help and willing to give directions to local facilities such as garage. The room and bed was comfortable and clean. The hotel has a courtyard in the centre of the building. The rooms are no smoking although there are smoking areas in the courtyard but cannot be used after 10pm. We were surprised that some residents vaped in the lounge area and the restaurant, not sure what the rules are but no-one challenged them. There is a good menu available in the evening and the food quality and taste was excellent. The breakfast was ok, the member of staff Debbie came across as a bit surly but this may be in comparison to the other staff who couldn't have been friendlier. Some guests asked for poached eggs, they did get them but did get snapped at. Perhaps it was just a bad day and should not be a reflection of the hotel overall which I would recommend and use again.

"Excellant value Twycross Zoo Wowcher deal"
keldan1, 30 Juillet 2017

Booked via a Wowcher deal which included a two night stay and entry tickets for 2 adults and 1 child to Twycross Zoo. We arrived with our three year old grand-daughter a few days ago. Plenty of parking space, entrance foyer clean and welcoming. Very efficient check-in with the duty manager, thank you. Room was as described - a twin room which we requested plus a sofa bed for our grand-daughter. The sofa bed was already made up, which was great. Room clean and appointed with dressing table, TV, coffee table and the usual tea, coffee etc. Bathroom also clean. Fluffy towels, complimentary shower gel etc. There was a basic room service which included bin change, replenishment of tea, coffee etc, clean mugs. This was a welcome surprise which we did not expect. Breakfast on both mornings offered the same menus and were additional to the cost. As we had pre-booked the breakfast, this worked out at £4.50 each per breakfast. Our grand-daughter as an 'under five' was free! Good selection of self-service traditional cooked breakfast items and fruits, yoghurts etc. We did not eat at the hotel restaurant so cannot comment on food and service. There is a Mc Donalds opposite which we used the first night and on our second night we ate at a thatched inn called Bird in Hand a couple of miles away which was fabulous. Ideally located for Twycross Zoo, a five minute drive. Cannot fault it at all. Thank you to all the staff, we would certainly stay again.

"Reminded me of an old folks home "
Bottomle, 29 Juillet 2017

Stayed here 1 night as it was off the motorway heading north. Reminded me of a residential home for the elderly. Had a very clinical smell. staff were friendly and helpful, breakfast was tasty (the coffee not so great!) But it did the job and I'm sure I'd stay again if needed

"Perfect stay for Wedding"
Leigh F, 26 Juillet 2017

Having arrived later for wedding, processed throught to room swiftly, plenty of space in room to get ready, Ideal location when travelling up from South East, quiet nights sleep, good breakfast courtesious staff..Would recommend and stay again.

"Definitely recommend."
S12T, 25 Juillet 2017

Food was good - fresh grilled chicken with real salad. Staff and service were exceptional. Rooms are fine but a little tired. All in all - a great D, B&B and only £75. Definitely recommend. Another reviewer talks about waiting time for food - I was there the same evening and all the electronic systems had failed causing some disruption.

"Nice staff - good location"
batchy1706, 24 Juillet 2017

Stayed for a couple of nights on 2 occasions recently. Nice clean no frills hotel with friendly efficient staff. Service is a little slow in the restaurant - you wait quite a while for food sometimes but the food is good. Will stay there again and would recommend this hotel to friends.

"grand prix weekend"
ian12lin, 20 Juillet 2017

we stayed at this hotel for the grand prix weekend and it was booked by Blakes coaches the service was excellent from reception the bar the waiters/waitress and room was kept clean and tidy. we were on a two night half boards food was very good and bar prices very reasonable thanks to Mark and his staff

"F1 British Grand Prix"
Kenneth L, 17 Juillet 2017

Stayed here overnight whilst attending the British Grand Prix 2017, good hotel with excellent staff. It was fine for what we needed with a good choice for continental breakfast. Comfy beds, plenty of parking and a reasonable meal in the restaurant.

"A good hotel, in a good location"
chrisbgas79, 10 Juillet 2017

We stayed here back in February whilst en-route to Devon for an overnight stay. The Hotel is in an excellent location on the A42/M42 and is also close to Derby and not far from Birmingham. Check in was smooth and hassle free and the desk staff were very friendly. The rooms are very clean, quite big and well equipped with free WiFi available. We ate int he restaurant and found the food to be of a good quality and quite tasty and the there was a large selection of drinks available at the bar, both food and drink was very reasonably priced. There is also a small lounge area within the bar which has Sky TV available. The hotel was ideal for our purposes and well priced and we would use this hotel again if we were staying in the area or again travelling further afield.

"Just like it!"
MrsFussyLincolnshire, 27 Juin 2017

this place has its faults but more good points, I can over look the faults as they are so minor of a busy hotel, I did not pay 5* prices so I do not expect 5* everything. Please carry on the good work!!

"Lunch"
D-J-Griffith, 13 Juin 2017

I was passing and need to catch up with a supplier, we had a good meeting and the food was not bad. The staff were helpful and all in all a very pleasant visit I will make a point of staying over next time.

"Faulty Towers......at best."
Wayne201088, 13 Juin 2017

Planned my visit on watching the F1 and doing some work after a busy day. Was told on check in that you can't stream anything as it will just kick you off, but the fact of the matter was that the Wifi was none existent. Yes they tried to get this fixed by contacting someone in Ireland, but this was not working for my full visit. What happened to just resetting the router manually? If you want to you this system fine but have as system so that an engineer can come out and fix it if and when required. The telephone in my room didn't work but this fell on deaf ears from the receptionist. The same man on reception told off the very nice lady waiter that evening in front of guests for briefly talking to her colleague, the bar man, I'm sure if this was such a big issue that it could have been handled more professionally? I wad told that my room had been refurbished but the sofa seat was stained and the mattress was of poor quality. Breakfast was ok and when I arrived the hot Buffett was being put away as it was too dry, fair enough but then when I ordered from the grumpy waitress I was only served what had just been removed as the bacon was rock hard. I am a diamond card holder with BW and can honestly sum this hotel as one of the worst I've stayed at sadly. Please realise that wifi for people working on the road is as important as anything else ( not just a convenience ) and you really need to invest in this.

"Decent"
R53CLE, 11 Juin 2017

Good transport links being on edge of M42 - great for us visiting Donington. Room was average, smelt of smoke upon entering, shower head very low down, reception called us at 11 to say its time to check out (although in room paperwork suggested 12. Only little issues really. All round good value and would stay again.

"Overall good"
User, 08 Juin 2017

My partner and I booked a two night stay through Wowcher and had our little girl with us. We had our breakfast both mornings and an evening meal. The room was an adequate size and had all the amenities we needed, however it was a very hot few days and with no air con we asked if they had a fan, the fan we got wasn't very effective because it was very dusty but we managed. We emailed ahead to check the hotel had a high chair and travel cot as if not we would bring ours. On arrival we were charged £10 hire for the travel cot. We found this quite cheeky considering they didn't tell us this previously and we if we'd have known we'd have brought ours! We felt that charging for the travel cot was unnecessary because at the end of the day we stated we had a baby at booking and so presumed this would be in with the price of the room. The breakfast was nice and service was good. On the first evening we were served by a waiter that seemed like he didn't want to be there, very lethargic, but then we were served by a young lady who couldn't do enough for us or our baby which was much better. Overall a good stay but could've been improved

"Lovely, comfortable weekend stay. "
Carly L, 06 Juin 2017

We recently stayed at this hotel for 2nights whilst attending a wedding, the hotel and ground were well maintained and perfectly clean. The room was a good size with a comfortable bed. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was also great. We will definitely return when back in the area and recommend to friends.

"Great location and great stay!"
anniewalker90, 06 Juin 2017

We recently stayed at Best Western Appleby Park Hotel when visiting the area for a friends wedding. For the price we could not fault the room, it was comfortable and welcoming. The staff were great and happy to answer any questions that we had whilst on our stay. Would stay again if in the area as very easy to get too and practical to get into the town centre :).

"Super welcome and comfortable hotel"
sandkbaker, 03 Juin 2017

Friendly staff, clean room and perfectly situated. Stayed to attend a fabulous wedding. Would stay again as hotel is in such an easy location. Breakfast was great and staff more than happy to answer any questions or queries.

"3 people should equal 3 sleeping spaces...."
Janet S, 30 Mai 2017

We booked here as a couple with one child as we just needed a place to sleep after going to a party up the road. We checked in before the party and informed reception that there was no sofa bed in the room for our son to sleep on. The receptionist was very helpful and promised it would be done immediately, we reminded him again on the way out a bit later as it still hadn't been sorted. On our return later that night with a very tired child there was still no sofa bed. The person on duty was very helpful and found us another room very quickly and came himself to make up the sofa bed but it wasn't ideal to then have to move all of our things and a tired boy late at night. The room was also extremely stuffy and hot as it had been a glorious day and no windows had been open. The bed was awful (far too soft and a bit like sleeping on a waterbed it was so wobbly) but not much we could do about that. Breakfast was perfectly fine with the usual options available and the location was ideal for what we needed as we were also able to have a visit to Twycross Zoo just 5 minutes up the road before heading home. However, when you book a room for 3 people you do rather expect there to be space for 3 people to sleep…

"BW Appleby Park Appleby Magna"
David K, 18 Mai 2017

Excellent hotel well worth staying in. Very comfortable and clean. Highly recommended. Could not fault the room or the breakfast. The welcome by check in staff was excellent and the same can be said for the departure. Would highly recommend this hotel.

"Perfectly situated, great facilities "
willy2912, 15 Mai 2017

My girlfriend and I recently stayed and found all of the facilities to be of a high standard and the situation of the hotel to be perfect for us to be able to attend a close friends wedding and also explore the surrounding area using the hotel as a base.

"Great Value for Money and in a Good Location"
Undrop79, 15 Mai 2017

I stayed here for 2 nights for a wedding which I was attending in the area and found the hotel to be a fantastic base. Clean, good breakfast and brilliant staff which made my stay extremely enjoyable. I look forward to my next visit!

"Two nights in two weeks"
theonlybigman, 08 Mai 2017

I am disappointed in this hotel. It is cold, no real heaters other than electric ones on the wall, that are not very effective, the beds are uncomfortable, and the whole atmosphere I can only describe as strange. I prefer the Premier at Ashby De La Zouch

"Cheap and cheerful! "
Louise P, 07 Mai 2017

We stayed one night after going to a friends party nearby. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was clean, we had more space than I was expecting. The bed was comfortable we had plenty pillows and towels. Soap, shampoo and body wash was supplied, tea, coffee. Nothing fancy but acceptable/comfortable. We had breakfast; not quite as was advertised not sure it was really worth the cost but again in was ok, nothing to rave about. If you need somewhere to just get your head down and you're not bothered about anything fancy then this will suffice. I'd stay again but would leave the breakfast. Forget to say, lots of families were at the hotel, staff accommodated them well!

"Ok room poor service and attitude"
Kevin481111, 02 Mai 2017

Visited for one night on business and was greeted with a smile at reception and that was as good as it got. The room was basic, no frills, and nothing to write home about, you got what you needed and that was it. I headed down for some food at 7 o'clock to be told there would be no food orders taken until 8 as there was a coach party. There was still plenty of room in the restaurant and bar area so I sat down and waited, 8 soon became 8.15 then 8.30 and then finally my order was taken at 8.40. No apology, nothing other than embarrassed waitresses. I won't be returning in a hurry and would advise the managers to be more prepared for events like this. I was a Paying hotel guests but felt like I was treated like a second class citizen, bad form Best Western and not what I expected.

"Great value stay"
IHeartTheSeaside, 01 Mai 2017

The hotel is clean and the staff are friendly. The location is very easy to get to, right next to M42 but I couldn't hear it. The food was very good, far better than expected for the price of the stay. Thank you Mark for looking after us so well

"Room needed refurb, cleaning needed more attention. Ask for a refurb room"
ladybirdholly, 30 Avril 2017

Stayed here two nights on a wowcher deal which included entry to Twycross Zoo. Reception staff were friendly on check in. Our room was ok ish. There needed to be more attention to detail the toilet seat hadn't been cleaned underneath, there was sugar all on the tea tray, the bedding had some marks on it and was very worn in places but it had been washed. The bed was very old and the springs had gone but strangely we slept o.k. The room looked tired as did the bathroom, the plug hole and plug needed a real good clean as it was slimey. The shower worked ok. I wish we had said something earlier because on check out we were told some of the rooms had, had a refurb, ours wasn't one of them. We paid extra for breakfast, it was adequate, nothing special but they don't charge a lot for it. We didn't eat here at night as the place looked empty which wasn't a good sign. We ate down the road at the Appleby inn hotel the food was great. I wouldn't stay here again unless I had a room which had been refurbished so my advice is.....Ask for one of these rooms when booking.

"Weekend stay "
Dee A, 30 Avril 2017

The room appeared clean and tidy. Spacious enough for 2 people. Although very near to a main road, there didn't seem to be much noise. Mattress was little too soft and bouncy for our liking. Pillows comfortable. Room a little cold at times. Hot water was intermittent and some times unpredictable. Daily maid only left one towel for two people but receptionist was apologetic and extremely helpful about this. We did have breakfast. Can't fault the first day, but second was disappointing. They has mixture of fruits, cereals and cooked breakfast. They do extra eggs to request though which is good. The second day was much busier for breakfast and we were often left waiting for different foods. Beans were also cold when they finally came out. Pleasant village a short walk away and other pub restaurants a bit further. Very close to the zoo and other attractions.

"Evening meals a disaster"
Brien H, 28 Avril 2017

After reading the review by Damselfly Spotter, I am in total agreement with her. The Hotel was clean and the rooms were comfortable, Breakfast was good and the lunches were very nice but the Dinners were a complete disaster. Fish cook,ed until almost like leather and the vegetables on two occasions were severely undercooked and on the final night were completely the opposite. The cauliflower had disintegrated a d looked more like mash. The response from Management to Damselfly was not one I would have expected because on the final night th duty manager approached me as Chairman of the Association and said, "I believe we have let you down again" I left him in no doubt that the evening meal had been totally unacceptable. How management s response to Damselfly spotter says we should have complained at the time, well I can assure her I Did. it would have been nice if she had admitted that they had not come up to the standard expected on this occasion.

"3* hotel / 1* evening meals"
damselflyspotter, 25 Avril 2017

Just off the M42 this hotel is ideally situated for Twycross zoo and other areas of interest in the region, such as the National Arboretum. The rooms are functional, comfortable and generally clean. The shower flooded on a couple of occasions, in our room and others, as the shower curtains were flimsy. The shower was good though, really powerful. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful, one or two could do with some training. One on customer service /communication / body language (eye rolling is not a great way to respond to customers trying to make basic conversation or asking for something that has run out in the dining room). In the restaurant, Gail was excellent, she had a lovely way of working efficiently, advising more junior staff quietly and providing a personal, caring, effective service at the same time. The young lady at covering the bar in the evenings was helpful and provided proper customer service. The food was a bit of a mixed bag. Breakfast was generally good. A range of fruit, cereal, yoghurt, bread, cooked breakfast, toast, crumpets etc. The evening meals had some dishes that were OK. Others were poor or dreadful and really should not have been let out of the kitchen! One evening the vegetables were so undercooked they were inedible. Sprouts were more like bullets! The fish was overcooked, making it rubbery. The following night was the opposite, the cauliflower was almost mash. We had salmon on the menu, but white fish was served, with a dollop of solid mashed potato, which looked unappetising to say the least. It might not have been so bad, had someone thought to communicate the change with us and offered us another option. Having had white overcooked fish the previous night, most people said they would not have opted for that. Gala dinner it certainly was not & customer communication was appalling - not sure why a simple conversation from a manager was so difficult, there were 5 tables to talk to, or was it presumed that we would not notice? Pasta as a main meal was underwhelming, creamy pesto and pine nuts had no flavour and was basically a small bowl of bland penne with a bit of cream on. The fast food outlet across the road was much more appealing., which is a shame. On a more positive note: One day we had lunch, having seen other lunches being served. I can only imagine there is a different chef (one who can cook), as the lunches were very good quality. The hotel seemed to be in the middle of nowhere, but there were footpaths nearby to get to the village and beyond. Some pleasant walks from the village. In summary: comfortable hotel, most staff were friendly. Evening meals I would avoid if I had a choice.

"Naval reunion"
Carol W, 25 Avril 2017

Recent 3 nights Naval reunion Through Iowa holidays. Due to special needs we visited twice prior to visit, as we love locally Robin was fantastic, friendly, helpful compassionate. Advised us of suitable rooms. Arrival brilliant. Room clean, warm and comfy. Breakfast hot regularly replenished. Main meal in a suite, starter, desert excellent. Main course not cooked to personal taste, hard veg but can't please everyone. Entertainment great. Mark deputy manager a gem this man will go far, so friendly obviously enjoys his job. It shows.Very good with older guests respectful and took time to get to know them. A huge thank you from us all. Will pop in for a drink and chat when passing.

"Sunrise coach holiday"
paula1965, 21 Avril 2017

Well where do I start , we arrived at the hotel to be told we were to early , But credit to the reception lady , she made us feel very welcome . We were asked to wait in the bar were we could purchase food and drink. The lady behind the bar however made us feel most unwelcome, she never smiled or replied to questions asked , I asked how to order food , if we needed to order at the bar or did some one come to the table . I got told to take a menu and look at it . The evening meals although very nice the service was appalling., no smiles no chatting from the waiting staff. The young lady Louise behind the bar was lovely , very friendly and made you feel like you were a customer. Breakfast well it was adequate only complaint was no choice of egg would have liked a poached egg. Had a problem with a dirty sheet in my room , which Mark the duty manger sorted out very promptly, can not fault him he was very friendly and lovely so was the lady manageress who's name I sorry I don't know , but some of the other staff need a bottle of happy pills

"Value for money economy hotel but has some issues"
paulatepc, 18 Avril 2017

We booked three rooms via the BW central reservations and were told we could have two of the rooms next to each other. When we arrived we were told it was not possible as the hotel were a "franchise" and BW booking people were not able to be that specific. This was an irritation (we had children in the room we wanted next door) due to what seemed to be a lack of communication within the company that must be resolvable. The second point that spoiled our evening was the "stand in " chef that obviously just could cope even with the restaurant being only a third full; and staff that just didnt seem to bother; didn't even stop what they were doing and look us in the face when we tried to say something. Offered to get sauces etc but never came, had to get our own - just disorganized. Many items off the menu list and taking half an hour after ordering to tell us, then the second choice also not being available; dishes arriving without the salad or any dressing or sauces as advertised on the menu. One and a half hour wait to get the meals, for which we got a round of drinks as compensation but only after making a complaint to the manager. Wish we had gone over the road to Mc Donalds. For us, not very comfortable beds or pillows (very hard) but clean and with a bath as well as shower.

"Ok for stay but read review for a heads up"
Dave7064, 16 Avril 2017

Ok I stayed here for three nights whilst on a training course. Very clean, staff very helpful the food is good too. My heads up advice is this, book a room that is upstairs , I had a room on the ground floor and having to revise was quite annoying when you can here the people upstairs walking about very loud and clear, pardon me I should have said the parents of 2 children who just run up and down not doing as their told for a good 3 hours so when I'm finally getting off to sleep they decide to run a bath which was directly above my bed so you see ask for an upstairs room to avoid the only bad point for this motel.

"Family of 4"
User, 12 Avril 2017

Nice hotel. Excellent breakfast. We were offered inter connecting rooms for a family of four. The restaurant food was also great. Tiny snag was a cup under our bed when we first checked in but it's not too much of a big deal.

"Quiet, modern, spacious and functional"
HectorFromBerne, 09 Avril 2017

A group of us stayed here while attending a reunion a few miles away. The hotel is very conveniently located for the M42, and is a modern two-storey building set in a courtyard formation in a very rural setting - one did not notice the nearby motorway, which is close and makes the hotel a convenient staging point. The rooms were very spacious and comfortable, and the facilities similarly spacious, meaning that a large coast party that arrived on the second night I was there did not intrude. The staff were friendly and helpful, but the building itself devoid of character, though pleasant enough.

"Ideally placed"
wsh0liday, 09 Avril 2017

Stopped here on a family two night break including Twycross Zoo tickets. Well placed and a nice clean room. However despite it being a room for three their were only 2 mugs and 2 glasses in the room. Also the tea, coffee, sugar supplies were not replenished when they serviced the room, although we did get some from reception. On arrival we found out that there was a singer performing in reception on the Friday night. This meant that they were only doing a limited menu and the front entrance was packed. A pity they didn't warn us when we booked, however despite the high volume in the reception area it didn't disturb us in our room.

"One night stay - good location"
Edwin G, 05 Avril 2017

Well presented hotel in a good location. Pleasant quiet room, bed not very comfortable, and bathroom could do with a bit of updating. Good friendly and competent staff. Had dinner in the restaurant and the service was very slow - oer 30 minutes from ordering to food arriving. Food excellent when it did come.

"Still on the road"
geoffh417, 30 Mars 2017

I travel frequently around the UK, this particular Best Western is perfectly placed for me as it is close enough to my destination and far enough drive from my last destination. Reception staff and restaurant and bar staff are always good humoured but also leave you alone when you need to be. The bed is very comfortable although the rooms may need a little addition of a picture or two. Breakfast is easy and quick and the chef will always prepare a different egg to the one on the buffet. Would appreciate a teapot for breakfast tea but that is only a mild criticism. Overall perfect for my requirements.

"A three night break away with trips."
Steven P, 27 Novembre 2016

The Appleby is a good 3 star hotel. Warm, cosy and friendly. The food is a good standard and the drinks a little expensive but acceptable. The hotel is a little tired and in places would benefit from some decoration. The rooms are fine and offer tea making, comfy beds, quiet nights, and plenty of instant hot water. This is an ideal stop for business people travelling and looking for somewhere overnight to stop close to the motorway. There is nothing (other than Mcdonalds) within walking distance. There is one floor above ground level.

"Luxury "
phillipma, 26 Novembre 2016

A winter's evening, snow outside, open fire, cosy furnishings and excellent food ; nothing could be better. I only stopped for one night travelling south from Scotland (15 minutes of the M6). I wish I had arranged to stop longer.

"Great hotel "
Sarah D, 26 Novembre 2016

I stayed for 3 nights and was really impressed with the room and the food, which was delicious. What really made my stay so enjoyable was the staff who couldn't do enough for us (a coach load!). The housekeeping staff were really good and so friendly, as were all the staff.

"was a birthday treat away for my husband"
Heather U, 26 Novembre 2016

Day 1 all seamed good on arrival our room was nice and clean with a king sized bed, went for a nose about to see what was available but there wasn't anything other than the hotel went to restaurant for dinner restaurant was in main foyer ! ordered our meal took time in coming but was worth the waist you could tell it was cooked to order. dessert was not so good but got a discount on it . On retiring to our room for the night we could not open the window so room was like an oven we had a comfortable night. Day 2 we were up for breakfast it was nice to get out of the oven it was reported to reception about the window. We had our breakfast that was very nice then we went out for the day to twycross zoo (THATS ONOTHER REVIEW) on our return I asked at reception about the window The DUTY Manager was there was told they needed a new window frame was immediately asked if we would like a fan. Dinner was again cooked to order and dessert was the birthday cake I had organised (Thank you Kayleigh) with our stay coming to the end all I can say it the Staff were very helpful the hotel was very clean a very big thank you to Kayleigh she was brilliant and Mark the duty manager

"Overnight stopover"
theonlybigman, 22 Novembre 2016

Came here on the 22/11/2016 night (Room 112) as I needed to stay somewhere and the Premier Inn at Ashby De La Zouch was fully booked, not surprising as I was recommended here, I don't know why. I have to compare to the Premier inn, bed was a 3/10 compared to a 10/10 at Premier, too low, and squeaky. Room was small, with an umcomftable desk, which I couldn't get my legs under and a poor chair to sit a desk with. Shower was an in the bath affair, which took for ever to decide whether to freeze me into an ice cube, or take my skin off. Cheeky floorboards upstairs so all I could was people wandering about. However, plus sides, wonderful staff all apart from the lady at breakfast who moaned that I was sitting in an area reserved for a coach party (even though all the other tables had reserved signs on and this one didn't) and when I went to find another table, she told to me sit at one that had a reserved plaque on it and not to worry as that doesn't mean anything?! Well put it on the other tables then you wont have to move anyone! The two girls who checked me in very nice, the girl who checked me out again very nice and the food at breakfast was passable. Cheap rooms and a decent just off the motorway location, but im afraid need to beef up some of the quality aspects to compete with Premier up the road.

"family weekend stay"
firstmusic, 16 Novembre 2016

28-30-Oct-2016 This hotel is one of the best around, very welcoming and with a top class menu to be proud of. Thoroughly recommend this to business or family for accommodation. Looking forward to return again Thank you Paul and Mary S and family

"Worst western"
ipsalter, 09 Novembre 2016

So I have stayed in many a best Western hotel I am a diamond select member and have never had an issue This place however broke the mould and does the brand a huge disservice The room was grubby I found someone's sock fluff all over the floor when I checked in the second night I found the coffee cup in my room had coffee stains on the outside of the cup which could be wiped away But it's the restaurant where this place really let's itself down first night was fine took too long to sign the bill but OK First time I went for breakfast it was an experience I've never had to queue up with 30 people to get 2 sausages and a hash brown (all that was left ) Next evening I was seated and then had to wait 20 minutes before anyone asked if I wanted a drink or took my order and that's pretty much how the rest of the night went 2 hours in total for 2 courses Next morning I hoped the breakfast fiasco of the first day was a one off I was wrong it's was just as bad I am writing this on my third night I've just been down to the restaurant to get some dinner where I was told I couldn't be seated for thirty minutes when the place was not even half full Not even going to have breakfast tomorrow maccy D's across the road for me I will never come back here again and to be honest I'm not sure about the brand anymore I thought they inspected there places

"Horror hotel"
Alex M, 07 Novembre 2016

Food takes 2 hours to get service staff un helpfull when food comes not cooked or not bad can't even cook an egg. Unorganised and short tempered truly horrible hotel. Over priced. Told a time to book in for dinner then fobbed off till 7 when booking at 6

"Forgot the biscuits"
Keith B, 06 Novembre 2016

The hotel has good points, the room was clean the bed was soft and the hotel quiet. However they room provides tea and coffee but no biscuits, and for me that summed up the place it could be very good but they could not be bothered to go that final extra distance to achieve consistent high quality. Whilst the manager was about the restaurant service was good, once he went off duty service fell backwards. The onion rings were good, the inch of fat they floated in ruined the effect. It seemed to me that individual visitors were too much effort and only a source of extra cash. Beware of the burgers they qualify as the most expensive seen in the west midlands. if they tried hard they could do better, but they can't provide biscuits so what hope is there?

"What a good hotel"
Keith H, 05 Novembre 2016

We received a very warm welcome from Chloe in reception, We also had a very good dinner, pleasantly served, but the best was breakfast with Kaleigh, a excellent ambassador for the best western company, we will use this hotel again

"Good hotel "
vrandella, 31 Octobre 2016

I stayed here for one night on a Sunday through to Monday. This was part of a Groupon deal with tickets to Twycross Zoo. I stayed with my daughter and found the hotel with real ease. The staff were all friendly, especially the bar maid. The reception, restaurant, bar and room were spotlessly clean. The room was a good size with a lovely sized bathroom. We ate dinner in the restaurant. There weren't many guests staying so the atmosphere was a little quiet, but not uncomfortable. We had gammon and hunters chicken. The portions were generous and the meals were tasty. After a good nights sleep we had a brilliant full English breakfast. Portions were again generous and, due to fewer guests, cooked to order. We were pleased with the hotel and would recommend it for this type of stay.

"Overnight stay & Twycross zoo"
Milllindz, 30 Octobre 2016

Location: great, right off the bypass, 2 mins from petrol station/McDonald's and 5 mins from the zoo. Service: very helpful and approachable receptionists, managed to leave my phone charger at home and they lent me one from reception overnight which was a lifesaver! Room: had everything we needed, cosy feel to it, bed was comfy. Shower/bath was quite small but not a problem. Breakfast: self service buffet which is always good, nice simple selection. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would defiantly stay again :)

"Great hotel"
Marie L, 26 Octobre 2016

Stayed here as part of a good value wowcher deal. Great hotel, ideally situated very close to Twycross Zoo with good parking. Had a family room which was spacious with a sofa bed and very clean. Our room was quiet with comfy bed, and we all slept well. Very good breakfast selection. Only improvement would be a more cosy bar area. Would definitely stay again.

"Don't bother"
keith w, 26 Octobre 2016

I called the hotel direct some weeks prior to our visit as my wife and I needed two nights stay and when booking the room explained that I am disabled and in a wheelchair and would need a disabled room with walk in shower and booked as such. We arrived and went to reception who proceeded to take money off our credit card and then showed us to the room without giving any receipt for the money they had just taken. We looked at the bathroom that had a bath instead of a shower. The twin beds looked ok until you sat on them, the mattress was very thin and you could fell the springs through it. We said we cannot stay in this room so they showed us another which was exactly the same. We went back to the reception and they said they would try to sort the problem out so we left saying we would call them later. About an hour or so we called back and we were told that they could put a piece of plywood under the mattress, at this point I could not really believe what they had just said and asked them to repeat it. We said that would not be any good and we would look for another hotel. We called customer services and they said the hotel was managed locally and they would contact them and call us back. They did not it was the manager of the hotel who called and apologised for what had gone on and also said they do not have disabled rooms but do have wheelchair access rooms ? Surely one goes with the other and I said you are in trouble then as all hotels have to provide disabled rooms and went onto to say that i would take the matter further and at this the manager threw his toys out of his pram and became very unhelpful so terminated the call. Customer services are useless.

"Journey Stopover"
192Rickard, 25 Octobre 2016

Stayed as was ideal stopover and very happy with our choice. Very friendly staff, rooms clean and adequate. Food in bar and breakfast was very good. Only criticism is that a very poor room service menu, which we would have preferred.

"Good value - excellent place for a stop over"
oliversofhull, 16 Octobre 2016

Stayed here to break the journey south. Great value room. Bed was 8/10 pillows 5/10 but did not detract from the sleep - slept very well. Ate here which was decent food with massive portions! Lots of groups of men - suggested contractors use it a lot. Not really anywhere to sit and talk/read without having to watch the TV etc.

"Management Chaos"
Addianho, 16 Octobre 2016

Booked a two night stay, but explained that we would not arrive until early the following morning (for a wedding, and needed a room first thing). Sent an email confirming our arrival time and that we would accept the two night charge We received an email noting and accepting our request On arrival we were told that we were a 'no show for the previous night and that we would forfeit our booking for both nights and that we would no have to book another room and pay an early arrival fee The following morning we were told, amongst others that breakfast was extra until we showed proof that it had been paid for I feel sorry for the young lady who had to incur the tirade of complaints On top of all this the beds are uncomfortable, and poorly made Not a place to recommend to anyone

"Good hotel for business trraveller"
753office, 14 Octobre 2016

Easy to get to from M42 Spacious. Rooms were clean and sufficiently well appointed. Great shower Internet was OK Hotel was full of business people Receptionist and staff were very helpful and efficient.

"Value for money "
Alison C, 12 Octobre 2016

Excellent hotel short break in well equipped room which was very clean. Although the hotel was very busy during our stay it was extremely quiet at all times so slept well and no disturbance. Food very good.

"Easy access. "
Drakey0750, 11 Octobre 2016

Stayed here on business for a couple of days. Access really easy and straight off the M42 Reception all done out nicely and the restaurant food is really good but with a fairly basic menu. Rooms have all what you need and the free wifi works Could do with a lick of paint around the corridors.

"Its well located"
Tony S, 10 Octobre 2016

I stayed here for a period of 1 night on business in the area. The hotel is easy to find and well located off the main routes with easy access to places like Coventry. There is a secure car park with plenty of spaces with barrier entry. I booked this hotel kind of last minute and got a twin room with single beds, the check in wasn't too bad, quick and painless. The room was a decent size but had a sofa in which had all sort of stains on it, I didn't want to think what might be on there. The room apart from that was very clean however missing certain things I expect from a Best Western like a bottle of water and there wasn't even any biscuits to go with my cuppa. Also other little things like there was a light out in the bathroom, the tv was SO dark you could hardly see it (the remote didn't work to change it). Saying that though I had actually have a nice sleep! The evening meal was a very disappointing experience, I sat down early at about 5:30 and it was quite busy surprisingly. There was a man on the phone who was using abusive and racist language yet no staff approached him. On top of that the service was SO SLOW, Once I finished my meal I ordered my dessert and a drink and after 35 minutes it still hadn't arrived even though the waiters walked past my table loads of times and saw me just sitting there. Overall it took 2 HOURS which when by yourself is a long time to just be sitting around. I did approach staff and asked where my food was the staff hadn't put the order through. The meal itself was nice and I enjoyed my burger. While I was sitting bored I also noticed that the twitter address on the menu was actually wrong for the hotel which seemed to a basic oversight. The breakfast experience was a little better but the apple juice and milk had run out however the poached eggs were nice. Overall this is a pretty basic hotel, if you are on a budget and need somewhere to crash its pleasant enough however I was glad I was only there a night.

"A good well located place to stay"
jameswinter69, 06 Octobre 2016

Stayed several times now and cannot fault the rooms for cleanliness and quality. When you stay somewhere a lot the menu can seem limited but the meals I have had have all been very good. If you can accept the entire social and restaurant area of the hotel sits between the hotel entrance and reception/check in you will find this a friendly and convenient hotel to stay.

"Excellent Conference Facilities"
RLHSwadlincote, 06 Octobre 2016

I booked the Parva room for a working conference for 14 delegates. The room and facilities provided suited our needs perfectly. Drinks and refreshments were provided throughout the day and the buffet lunch was excellent. My thanks to the hotel management and staff on the day, for making it a successful venue, and one which we hope to use again in the future.

"A great find!"
Dawn W, 04 Octobre 2016

We were greeted by the friendly reception staff & Friendly Manager Mark . We arrived a little early & our room was ready & allowed to check in early the room was spotless & the room was modern, there was tea & coffee in the room too! The hotel had a nice clean smell about it, & everyone seemed very pleasant. We got a free breakfast which was lovely but the lady assisting with the breakfast could do with a smile on her face & was the only one of the hotel who looked scruffy the stay would have been perfect with the smile every morning & a better internet connection.

"This was a great find!"
Dawn W, 04 Octobre 2016

Very easy to find located on the roundabout exit to the A444 Very nice Welcome by reception Staff & Manager . Our room was in nice condition Clean & modern. It had Tea & Coffee making Facilities a Bath & shower . The Breakfast was lovely, But not much on the evening menu so didn't eat there. We would recommend this to everyone as its very close to lots of places.

"Take your own cleaning spray"
Ian T, 27 Septembre 2016

Manager Deborah, duty manager Mark and the new starter in the restaurant were great. The house keeping on the other hand was dreadful, other peoples body hair around the toilet and behind the bathroom door. even after complaining nothing was done apart from head of housekeeping phoning and apologizing and suggested a drink next time i stayed. i don't think he will ever get the chance.

"Excellent excellent"
kezstar2, 26 Septembre 2016

Just back from 3 night stay with a coach trip. This is one of the best hotel have stayed in on coach trips. It is spotless well set out bar reception and dinning area. The rooms are big comfortable and well decorated they have everything. Even sewing kit. The staff are really nice helpful and nothing a problem. Mark ford was the duty manager and a really hard working lovely guy. It is in the middle of nowhere but the service station has all u would need and there is a mcds just across the road. Hotel has lovely setting. Food is amazing well cooked and great quality. Thank you appleby park

"Fab family trip away "
Stujoasw, 22 Septembre 2016

We stayed her using a wowcher deal with a Twycross Zoo trip too! It is only a few minutes from the zoo which was handy! The room was very clean & tidy however the bathroom a little "damp" smelling and the bath leaks whilst having a shower! The staff were lovely and the breakfast was really nice too. Our Daughter took a shine to Chloe the receptionist who was ever so helpful when we needed anything! Would recommend this hotel for definite!

"an efficient business hotel"
141tim, 21 Septembre 2016

First impression is a bit weird, as you enter straight into the bar/restaurant area, and reception is tucked around a corner out of sight, but the welcome was friendly and efficient. It's a hotel very much geared to the business traveller and business meetings, so you should expect that corporate, impersonal feel, but that was OK with me. The decor was slightly jaded (nineties??), and the carpets were showing signs of stains and wear, but overall the room was comfortable - actually, I can't remember anything about it as I write this review a week or so later, so it must have been OK. Food, evening and breakfast, was of a good standard. I wouldn't rave about this place, but I'd be happy to go back there.

"Dirty hotel and careless management"
Mahmoud B, 19 Septembre 2016

The washer in the bathroom was dirty of beard hair; I asked the receptionist to kindly ask the Room Service to take particular care at cleaning my room, but I came back and found the same exact hair in the same exact position. The towels didn't look spotless as I discovered the first morning a brown spot that was really unpleasant to say a little. The bed covers weren't dirty, yet, the bed itself felt very badly maintained. Actually, the entire hotel rooms are badly maintained. They take care only of the reception. Very poor intercontinental breakfast. You either have to intake an aggressive and calories-rich English breakfast or you have to spread some butter on toasted bread. I found a spider on my hand on my first day at breakfast while I was on the soft drinks fridge. It didn't happen to me the day after though I didn't complain.

"Great Overnight Stay :)"
David S, 17 Septembre 2016

Booked in here at the last minute, and pleased that I did! Had evening dinner, that was lovely fresh, perfectly cooked fish. Retired to a very comfy bed in a lovely clean room. Breakfast was a nice choice of continental and full English. Staff were lovely, pleasant, cheerful and efficient. Definitely recommend this hotel; a very pleasant experience :)

"A relaxing break"
Keith H, 13 Septembre 2016

We have just returned from a 2 night break and right from booking in we were made to feel welcome. The staff were all very professional and helpful, housekeeping even supplied us with a double sheet to use as the weather was hot and I found the duvet to be a little too warm for the weather. The meals were all very well cooked and good value, the breakfast was a perfect start to the day with plenty of choices. The room was of a good size and very clean with a good sized en suite. I'm not sure if there would be a difference but we had room 251.

"wouldnt recomend"
philipsouthwood, 12 Septembre 2016

flew all the way from New Zealand to watch my sister walk down the aisle, having come a long way was looking forward to being able to relax with the family after4 a long time apart. however this wasn't possible, having been woken throughout the night due to multiple fire alarms and to then come down to breakfast to find I couldn't find a plate for my single bacon rasher that was left its safe to say I didn't enjoy any of the things I was looking forward to doing.

"Clean, friendly and well located"
KennyMan7, 12 Septembre 2016

We stayed here with two kids (5 and 1) and were made to feel very welcome by all of the staff. The rooms were well equipped with all of the standard bits. Food in the restaurant was good, we had dinner and breakfast. It's easy to find too.

"overnight stay"
Laura C, 12 Septembre 2016

early check in late check out, ideal position for our purpose, food was good good but limited menu choice. room was warm. our 4 year old struggled to sleep on the sofa bed. Great use of internal door between our two rooms + excellent price. Overall...short but pleasant experience.

"WOW Amazing Deals"
gaycoventry, 12 Septembre 2016

The Reception and team at the Hotel were helpful and very thoughtful. We decided to come along and use a Twycross offer, on arrival we were given our tickets to visit the Zoo. Our room was bright, clean and well pro-portioned with flat screen TV. All the staff were courteous, friendly and special Thanks to Alison for looking after us. The food was excellent, we have a light snack and full breakfast, the nights sleep was good. All in all we will be back!!

"Wedding base"
Margaret S, 06 Septembre 2016

We were very disappointed. The room on arrival was fine but that is the only positive comment I can write. The instructions for the safe were in Spanish and when I enquired I was told not to use it as the batteries and self locking were an issue and they could not get an engineer till the Monday( this was Saturday)The fire alarm went off in the night .I was told by reception it was a fault and not to worry.By the third time I was not happy .The following morning I spoke to reception and was assured the engineer was coming . When asked if they could guarantee a solution I was told they could switch it off if it was not fixed !!!The reception team did not react when I said the local fire brigade would not be happy . Breakfast Sunday morning was chaotic too few staff and had to wait a lengthy period for clean pots and food. Monday breakfast was even worse. One member of staff serving to cover yet again a full hotel ( I believe). I was told all pots and cutlery were out !! and the coffee cups behind the bar were for bar use!!! When I pointed them out. The MOS was really run off her feet she could not cope . Tables were all full of dirty pots and little food out. Lack of food was at that moment not an issue with no plates etc Eventually someone ( assistant manager I believe ) began to help. I don't anticipate having to wait a considerable period of time ( over 30 mins )for basic cutlery let alone food. I have used other hotels in the chain and found them good value for money but this one I would avoid at all costs. Have been delayed writing this review and note others in August still had the same appalling service and fire alarm issues. Seems nothing has been resolved.

"Substandard and inadequate."
Heather S, 05 Septembre 2016

Stayed here for my wedding with entire wedding party. Staff were unwilling and unhelpful for even basic requests for information such as breakfast. They checked a guest into a dirty, unturned around room, there were numerous problems with the bookings plus three fire alarms throughout the night. They put an elderly guest in the wrong room. Having put over £1000+ of service through their doors, it was as though they were doing us a favour. When I checked in and asked about some details on the run up to my wedding, the receptionist couldn't even smile. Pros, there was a bed.

"Absolute Bargain"
bury_10, 30 Août 2016

Stayed here through the Wowcher zoo deal. The hotel was straight off the motorway, plenty of free parking and lovely leafy surroundings. Checked in easy and quick, received our zoo tickets there and then. Twycross Zoo is literally a 5 minute drive away! Paid extra for interconnecting rooms which was brilliant. Rooms were basic but spacious. With a good sized bathroom and a great big sofa in each room. Everything was clean and functioning. Breakfast was lovely both mornings. Plenty of choice and everything tasted fresh. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The people that left bad reviews, I don't know what you were expecting. You can't pay budget prices and expect a 5* hotel. This hotel is great value for money. I would definitely stay here again if we were in the area.

"Good all round stay"
Derek J, 30 Août 2016

Lovely 2 day stay. Good staff, Mark Ford was exceptional, along with Gail and the lovely Lady who checked us in on reception on Saturday. Clean room, yes a little tired, but for the money, it was good. Would definite stay here again and recommend. Thank you Appleby Park Hotel

"Ok"
Dave_monie, 28 Août 2016

A couple of small issues on arrival but was sorted quickly. The rooms are nice, although I have to say if you're of normal height the shower isn't a great height for you to wash your hair. The grounds are really nice & spacious.

"Good for a short stay"
chalks178, 27 Août 2016

Just back from a 2 night stay. Hotel is nice and clean and the staff are very welcoming and polite. Seeing my wife in a wheelchair we were offered an accessible room on the ground floor with all the grab rails etc. The breakfast was very good with a wide choice of hot food, fresh fruit with all the trimmings. The bonus was that the deal included a ticket for each of us to Twycross Zoo which we took advantage of. Would recommend this hotel for a short stay as there are plenty of places to visit within easy reach and some good pubs within a few miles,

"basic"
westham1948, 24 Août 2016

Easy to find ,nice setting, but could do with some garden furniture. Rooms clean and comfortable. Great staff very helpful, polite and cheerful. A couple of Pubs within a twenty minutes walk if you wanted a change of scene.

"Excellent value"
tillymint_9, 24 Août 2016

Stayed at this hotel with a group of ladies, and we occupied 6 Twin rooms. All I can say is that we can't praise this hotel enough. Ok, it is not a "posh" hotel, but all our bedrooms were spotlessly clean and spacious, as were the bathrooms. In fact, the bathroom I used looked to be brand new. There was not a mark anywhere. Towels were spotless and fluffy. When we arrived we were given a menu to complete, and to be honest our first impressions were a bid disappointing, as there wasn't much choice (I would imagine that this only applied to a coach party as everyone arrives at the same time.). However, our evening meal was lovely. Some of the ladies had a chicken meal, the rest of us had salmon with a dill sauce, and fresh vegetables. Absolutely lovely, hot and fresh. We all had the cheesecake, which was delicious. Staff were efficient and friendly. Breakfast was self service, and included hot food. Again, we were more than pleased. Without exception, all the ladies said they enjoyed the hotel and all would stay there again. We were in a coach party, but please don't let that put you off. There was only our coach there at the time, and I very much doubt that there would be more than one at any time as the hotel doesn't seem to be big enough to accommodate more than one.

"Did the job"
gallen30, 23 Août 2016

The room was clean, beds not that comfy! Breakfast on day one was fine, day two there appeared to be lack of things. Tbh I think that the first breakfast we had was organised better than the second, or the staff. Booked through their website for the zoo deal. No problems getting our tickets. Ate in the evening at the hotel, food was fresh and homemade, no problems.

"Nice location"
paulLowestoft, 21 Août 2016

This hotel is located in nice location with easy ample parking, hotel was clean, staff pleasant. The biggest problem is breakfast time if you arrive for a later sitting, first morning cooked items hardly replenished, the second morning had to find cutlery, cups, bowls,no milk, no orange juice,no pastries,if I was to stay here again probably not bother with breakfast.

"Only on a wowcher"
971chris, 19 Août 2016

Bought the wowcher for 2 nights bed and breakfast for 2 adults and 1 child plus tickets for twycross zoo for my grand-daughter and her family. Room dirty, bathroom dirty, sofa bed for child broken, booked double family room, when complained about the state of the room told "you are only here on a wowcher" Given the 2 adult tickets for Twycross and told didn't need 1 for the child, this is not the case, Twycross said they have been having this problem with visitors from this hotel. An attempt to repair the sofa bed with staples was made but they could not face another night in the grubby room so left without the second night B&B asked to see the manager to try and rectify things but to no avail. Have stayed in many Best Westerns before on wowchers, groupons and booked independently but have never had such poor and rude service. They will definatly never stay here again,or would we or anyone we know, so be warned if YOU ARE ONLY A WOWCHER guest you may get the dirty wowcher room and service.

"Great hotel "
Sian J, 19 Août 2016

Love this hotel stayed here as a family with two young children ! Lovely place to stay clean and tidy with lovely food! Staff at reception desk were lovely too nothing too much effort for them and they were very welcoming ! Can't wait to visit here again X

"Dirty Room, Broken sofa bed, Rude Awful staff, Terrible food, poor service !!!!"
Sherry P, 19 Août 2016

Booked a double room but was moved to twin and lied to by Alison John (Receptionist) room was very dirty, photos to follow, toothpaste still in sink, dubious stains on carpet, sofa bed for three year old broken and hotels response was to fix it with staples. Very Rude receptionist not interested in our concerns and just kept saying you bought this on a wowcher so what do you expect. Meal terrible, booked table for eight no one came to take order until eight thirty then when food arrived it awful. When I requested head offices customer service number Alison gave me the wrong number and lied to me saying all family rooms were only ever twins, this is not true. I asked to speak to a manger and Alison told me that there were none available until Saturday, this was also untrue. When I spoke to head office I was hopeful of a resolution from Robin, but he told me I should have complained the night before which I did but Alison denied this also. He told me that unless we agreed to a different room he would not do anything to help, we were all very tired as we had not been able to sleep in room 201 and just wanted to go home despite already paying for two nights, then when Alison demanded we pay for the meal and we said we wanted to speak to the Manager and resolved this first she agreed to us leaving. We were then stopped in the car park and threatened by Robin that if we left we would be reported to the police for fraud. This is the worse hotel we have ever stayed in I have cried all the way home, dreadful staff !!!

"Much quieter than you'd think!"
Sue G, 10 Août 2016

We stayed at this hotel along with many others as we were all attending a wedding nearby. Our room was very comfortable and cool as we were on the shady side of the building. I was surprised how quiet it was given the proximity to the A42. The breakfast was excellent and all the staff attentive. Don't request papers at the weekend, though, as they don't get a delivery on either day!

"Room and breakfast ok, watch out for the cot"
reviewbadger, 09 Août 2016

Room was a little worn, but quite clean, especially the bathroom – only let down was a suspicious sticky patch on the carpet... Big plus was that the window opened wide, and had been left open meaning the room was fairly cool when we got there. Asked at reception for a fan as well which they bought up straight away. Also the room had two chairs, which made a nice change from so many hotels where there is only a single chair (which is no use for a couple). Breakfast was good enough, nothing special (why do all hotels buy such cheap sausages?), but there was a reasonable selection and the hot food was actually hot! The only real let down was the cot. They provided a cot for our little one but when we got there the cot had not been assembled correctly – it was clearly collapsing in on itself and would probably have squashed any baby you put in it. It was obvious that the person who was supposed to assemble it couldn't work out how and just couldn't be bothered, and just left it as it was – which was in quite a dangerous state. To be fair we asked at reception and they bought a new cot up straight away (though the receptionist didn't know how to assemble it either as it wasn't something she normally did, but we worked it out in the end). A simple two-minute training exercise for their housekeeping staff would be all it took to avoid this situation. Overall the hotel was ok, but not much more; it was exactly what you'd expect for a three-star chain hotel on a motorway junction. Maybe three stars is a tad harsh, it's more like 3.5, but probably compared to a premier inn the best western is a little overpriced.

"Fire alarms all night, no sleep, broken appliances, dirty room"
AimHP, 04 Août 2016

Awful service, fire alarms went off 3 times throughout the night, unapologetic, nightmare when you have a baby in the room. Tv didn't work, rooms and bathroom dirty, lift not working so had to carry prams up flights of stairs. Bed had a huge dip in the middle so uncomfortable. Never felt so ripped off, paid for a nights sleep and through their faulty service this didn't happen. Advise anyone to stay at the holiday in down the road in Tamworth for half the price!!!

"Stop over"
amanda b, 03 Août 2016

Myself and my daughter stayed here a couple of days ago for two night it was clean and comfortable. With everything we needed supplied. The beds were made up nicely and having two pillows on each one soft and one hard. ( nice touch I thought). The hotel does not provide evening meals only breakfast. But 5 minutes walk down the road there was a complex housing Bingo .bowling .cinema Chinese and Indian buffets or frankie and Bennies. So no problems for eating out. There was a Buffet style breakfast in the morning. cereals toast yoghurt fruit etc. An the Hot option was sausage scrambled egg and beans NO BACON that's the only bit I could complain about. So all in all a good stop over.

"Lots let it down"
leeleer77, 03 Août 2016

Firstly for two the room would be ok but there was three of I us and our 6 year old on a pull out single bed. Made the room very cramped!, thank god we bought our own fan as like a oven without it. Some unsavoury stains on my daughters white duvet. A pubic hair in bath when I went to unpack things in bathroom,Room was clean apart from those two things. Breakfast was diabolical, got there and there was no eggs no bacon no sausage just hash browns and a few dried beans! All empty! Got down here at 8.45 and breakfast is till 10.30! Took a long while to replenish and asked about pastries and waitress said there is no more! ....not good enough all hotels know they need to replenish all breakfast items until 30 mins to closing and to completely run out is a joke we didn't even see the pastries just on other peoples plates. She said there's a lot of waste on people's plates.. Doesn't matter! Having a blasé attitude to food wastage isn't good enough either, maybe a large sign stating 'any excess food wastage will be charged' they have them in most 'all you can eat buffet restaurants. I have been to so many motels hotels with buffet breakfasts and never had one as bad as this. With no organisation just chaos! No tables where set anywhere, helped ourself to the cutlery drawer as people standing about with no where to sit just two waitresses run off their feet. And a lot of angry customers. Not a lot of choice of cold drinks just apple juice or water, only when leaving at 9.45 saw they had put orange juice out.

"Great stay !!!"
melanie s, 01 Août 2016

This place was ideally located for Twycross zoo and Drayton Manor. Check was quick and easy. Comfortable rooms with everything you needed, had an excellent meal in the restaurant which was reasonably priced. Breakfast was great a buffet with lots of choices. The man (forgotten name sorry) working behind the bar on Friday and Saturday evening was great, went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed and kept our little one amused with crayons and colouring sheets. He's a real asset to the hotel. His customer service skills were exceptional. The only downside to this place was the fire alarm going off in the middle of the night due to people not closing the bathroom door when they shower!!! We still really enjoyed our stay though and would definitely return.

"If only the bed had been more comfortable!"
mleytonsmith, 29 Juillet 2016

I was part of a large group staying at the hotel for a long weekend and we were generally very well looked after. We found the young staff friendly and efficient. The food, particularly the breakfast, was to a good standard, if a little unimaginative. My room was basic but adequate and the shower worked well pumping out lashings of hot water. My only complaint would be the bed (Room 142) which was of poor quality with the springs literally 'bonging' at every movement. Room for improvement here. I deliberated at giving a 3 star review but decided that value for money should be taken into account hence the 4 stars.

"Lovely stay"
amyliv, 27 Juillet 2016

Lovely family break the hotel room was lovely and clean the staff are friendly we had breakfast got plenty of choice everything you need for two night stay great location for many attractions definitely recommend it

"Clean, large and comfotable room"
carmichael12, 24 Juillet 2016

This hotel provides clean, large rooms with good facilities at a reasonable price. It is extremely sterile by design and décor however. The reception, whilst not rude was certainly not welcoming and the same on departure. If you are an overseas guest looking for some quaint, warm, welcoming English country hospitality I recommend you look elsewhere.

"Nice hotel"
Russell196201, 24 Juillet 2016

I've stayed a few times. Nice hotel , always clean. Lacks a little ambience but is a step up from Premier Inn and Travel Lodges. Good value for money. Wifi can be patchy . There is a restaurant in the main foyer. Food here is pub grub and is pretty good. Burgers, curries etc . It can take a time to get served , however, from which I conclude there's not enough kitchen staff or equipment to deal with the numbers in the hotel. But if you have an iPad or a book and the length of time for food to appear desnt bother you then it's ok

"One Nigh Stay"
julietayl0r, 24 Juillet 2016

We had a one night stay here recently and was pleased with the hotel. I booked on booking.com and it said check-in was 2pm onwards. When we arrived at 2.15 our room was not quite ready and the receptionist told us check-in was from 3pm. Not a problem as we sat and had a drink. When we arrived at our room it was very clean and tidy, we had asked for a accessible room as I am in a wheelchair at the moment, although we did not have a wet room the bath was low and there were grab rails and the bed was also low. Plenty of tea/coffee and complimentary toiletries, and if you needed anymore just to ask at the reception. We had an evening meal which was very nice, the menu was a little limited but the food we had was good. There was a large bus party in and the service was a little slow but we were told about this when we booked the table. Breakfast was self-service and there was lots to choose from both hot and cold. Parking is right outside the hotel entrance and there is a barrier both on the entrance and exit. Very pleasant stay and would go again.

"Does everything well!!"
MrsFussyLincolnshire, 23 Juillet 2016

I need to stop over in this area every couple of weeks for work purposes, I normally look for the best deal on the day! Well this little gem came up at a fair price so it was booked. I go passed Junction 11 every week and did not know this place existed, and while at the hotel you would hardly know the M42 was close by. In a nutshell this place is very clean, well presented, friendly, spacious, comfortable and cracking value for money. Also got to say the food served in the evening is bloody good and well priced, breakfast is well organised and of great quality, Sorry cannot fault this place, it is not 5* but I did not pay 5* prices!! Please be the right price all the time for me!!

"Business hotel"
Mark B, 21 Juillet 2016

Very good location and service for a business hotel, would I stay with my wife! Probably not, nothings wrong, its just not the right ambiance. Rooms to Hot, no air con, very poor mobile phone service, internet service patchy within hotel and very slow in rooms.

"Great location."
Joachimjohn, 10 Juillet 2016

Good quality hotel, clean rooms, nice staff. On a bus trip to keep elderly parents company..First time on this type of holiday and not expecting hotel to be as good as this. Food very good and well served. Bar prices are reasonable and well stocked.Great location/base for exploring area by car.

"COULD DO SO MUCH BETTER"
Jill C, 07 Juillet 2016

Public areas and outside of hotel on arrival looked very good however from check in everythig went downhill. The public hallways to the rooms were filthy my room bas in desperate need of an upgrade. The shower was cold no hot water at all and the shower head was so full of scale that it did not work properly. The bed was of poor quality. i have stayed in better rooms than this for a lot less.

"Nice hotel, shame about the food"
StDu, 27 Juin 2016

We chose this hotel for its location and because the price was good. The welcome from the staff was good and the room clean and well equipped. The bed was comfortable and we had a good nice sleep despite the large amount of noise from the room upstairs (can't blame hotel for that). Where this hotel loses marks is in its restaurant facilities. A coach party was booked in so all other guests had to eat in the entrance lobby - dinner and breakfast, surrounded by comings and goings and the 3 TVs. The waiting staff were indifferent and the variety lacking in the menu. The quality was ok but overall a disappointment . Breakfast wasn't much better and it was a fair distance from the buffet! As a BW rewards Customer I am familiar with their individual styles but was disappointed with being made to feel a less important customer than the coach party and relegated to the entrance lobby instead of the restaurant.

"would return"
Philip A, 27 Juin 2016

good spot , nice and clean , breakfast was good and staff all helpful , shower in the room was lovely and i would defo return and recommend to any one, all in all a pleasant stay - only negative which wasn't the hotels fault, but the taxi we ordered was mega expensive

"3 night stay"
Stuart C, 24 Juin 2016

3 night stay visiting family. Choose this hotel as close by. Very clean, nice rooms, bar food was very good. Bar is basic but adequate. Nothing special but nice for a few days stay. Only down side was not able to get a double room, had to push 2 singles together.

"This is just another sleeping factory."
novarone, 21 Juin 2016

The Best western Appleby Park hotel was a bit disappointing,my two children their wives and my three grandchildren as well as my wife and I booked into this hotel as a base to visit local Twycross zoo,t he location is very convenient however it is basically another travel lodge, the food is basic, there is absolutely no atmosphere in the bar and it was cold, breakfast was was good and there was free Wi-Fi but other than that it was a very bland experience and I wish we had booked into the Appleby Inn just down the road.??.

"Its ok."
Phil L, 17 Juin 2016

Stayed here with work whilst visiting a near by site. The hotel is ok, it's clean and the staff seem more than friendly. Unfortunately they no longer had dry cleaning services which were advertised, the computer systems were down every other day and for this reason my reservation couldn't be found so I was left with a twin room.

"Convenient but basic"
Richard W, 17 Juin 2016

This is a purpose built hotel just at the end of the M42 and to that extent highly accessible. It offers all reasonable amenities but at a fairly basic level. The room was clean and functional and the vast majority of the staff helpful and friendly. The exception was the sole waitress at breakfast who could scarcely have been less welcoming and the cooked breakfast fare was equally unappealing. Breakfast started at 0700 and it seemed at 0900 that it had been left in situ since then. The bacon was like cardboard and the scrambled egg ( one of my favourites) so unsightly that I felt obliged to give it a miss so be warned.

"Nice hotel, awful customer service"
Kirsty M, 17 Juin 2016

The hotel is well presented and the rooms are nice with a decent amount of space. The staff however let it down. After 30 minutes of waiting for staff after having my dinner and nobody speaking to me I went up to my room. I then received phone call from the deputy manager accusing me of not paying for my food and drink (it was already arranged to be billed back along with the room). On explaining this I received a rude reply repeating that I had to pay as his system didn't say that, and when the staff member noticed the error there was no apology or any acknowledgement (all this came from a manager)

"Wish I had found you earlier"
Dennis M, 15 Juin 2016

First time stay here. Took a bit of finding but well worthwhile. Good value in the restaurant, good value rooms. In fact nothing to complain about, which makes a nice change. Back here t the weekend with a colleague.

"Basic but excellent for a couple of nights"
David W, 14 Juin 2016

I visited the Best Western Appleby Park Hotel for one night to attend a couple of business meetings. The hotel itself is basic but has everything that you'll need for a short stay. The staff were excellent - very friendly and helpful. The room and bathroom was very nice, clean and made for a good nights sleep.

"Friendly helpful staff, functional rooms"
calcot2009, 09 Juin 2016

Stayed here for a couple of nights with our 10 year old daughter. Found the room to be clean and comfortable. Staff were helpful and friendly when we needed anything. Good breakfast choice, nice seating areas. Convenient location for motorway, zoo nearby and a short walk to local pub.

"Poor customer service"
gopherboro, 06 Juin 2016

I stayed at the Appleby park hotel and had a problem with a bathroom fan not turning off. I telephone reception for advice and spoke to Allison, whom I asked if I could turn off the fan which was making a noise (bearing fault?) and I could not sleep. The reply I was given was very poor dismissive and short. Allison replied that she has no idea and would imagine the fan would turn itself off eventually. Not the type of service I expect at over £70 per night..... Not recommended.

"relaxing break"

very nice stay in beautiful location nice and quiet comfortable rooms excellent shower not far from many attractshions deserves a higher rating than 3 star the views from are room were stunning it would be great stopover if flying from birmingham airport or east midlands about 14 miles from either would recommend

"Best of the Best Western chain"
PhillipKorn, 04 Juin 2016

I stayed here last month with a group of16 golfers. Clean modern and comfortable rooms, this is the best in the chain of Best Western Hotels. Comfortable bed, clean towels very day and very nice cooked food for breakfast and dinner, if coming toLeicestershire I would recommend staying here.

"Nice hotel real shame the staff let it down"
markandvicki, 01 Juin 2016

We stayed here for a wedding on the 28th May for a wedding and pre booked and paid for the room. I called earlier in the week to pre-warn that we would be travelling some distance and asked if the room could be ready for around 1pm. We arrived at 1.20pm and we're greater by a rude receptionist, I asked politely if our room was ready and had my head bitten off and was told it was too early and too basically go away. Other guest turned up just after and asked the same question and again were dealt with in the total wrong manner where the customer service went on this day I don't know. This is the worst welcome I had ever recieved by a hotel and I've stayed in a few. Eventually the lady phoned someone to check if the rooms were ready and reluctantly checked all the families in. The room was nice we had to request our sofa bed to be made up for our child as they had failed to do this but had been rectified by the time we returned. The sofa wasn't the most comformable bed for a child to sleep on maybe a pull out bed would of been more appropriate. The main bed was soft but comfortable. The shower was brilliant. The breakfast in the morning was nice again we were greeted by a lady who was miserable and didn't seem to want to be there we had to ask if we could sit anywhere and like other hotel there was no explication to where everything was. Overall good hotel but the staff and customer service was appalling there are much better hotel to stay in and this would put me off staying here again.

"Ok"
natwoowoo, 30 Mai 2016

Only stayed for one night as were attending a wedding nearby... I'd got the room for £49 through booking.com but on arrival they wanted a additional £50 holding deposit, they actually take this from your account, there's days later were still waiting for this back... Generally a nice room and lobby, had a few issues with a sink plug got stuck in so we couldn't use that, floss left on floor from previous guest and very thin walls, could hear people using the toilet, talking etc very easily ok though for one night

"Keep the bathroom door shut!"
canals56, 25 Mai 2016

ApplebyPark proved to be an excellent overnight stop for our coach party. The rooms were comfortable and fairly well appointed although our bathroom door was difficult to open. However, we had been warned in advance that it was essential to keep the door tight shut to avoid steam from showering setting off the fire alarms. There was also a cautionary note to this effect glued onto the door as well. Despite this, someone managed to set off the alarm at 07.00 so eliminating the need for an alarm call. Unbeknown to everyone, this also shuts down the kitchen gas, etc causing considerable inconvenience to kitchen staff. Given the pre-warning and the need for notes on doors, it would appear that the sensitivity or location of the alarms needs consideration, albeit a rare event when they do sound off. We had all pre booked our evening meals and these were served quickly and efficiently by an extremely friendly and helpful team of servers. It would be churlish to grumble but the portions were substantial, add to this the bountiful dishes of new potatoes and vegetables and we struggled to manage the desserts. As we retired, we wondered whether we we would be able to mange breakfast. No such problem as there was plenty of choice ranging from fresh fruit, yoghurt, cereals and, for the trenchermen amongst us, Full English. With only the slightest grumble about the fire alarms, this would be a most suitable overnight stopping off point if in the area as it is within a few 100 metres from the motorway network. Don't worry, the double glazing ensured a peaceful nights sleep. Sent from my iPad

"Good value - great staff"
Claire C, 24 Mai 2016

Lovely, helpful staff. Good evening meal and breakfast with fast and cheerful service. Room quiet and comfy. Powerful shower and nice toiletries. Good value and handy for the motorway. Would be happy to return.

"Excellent "
Goodltraveller, 23 Mai 2016

I have just led a group of sixteen golfers for a long weekend playing three different courses using the Appleby Park as a base. It is well located for motorway access and has plenty of car parking. My first impressions were very good and we were offered the use of a separate area for both breakfast and dinner. We preordered dinner for the first night and all worked well and the usual breakfast buffet was supplemented by personal orders for the main course. Beautifully cooked and presented. The rooms are spotlessly clean with multi jet showers and comfy beds. Mention must be made of the very attentive and helpful staff members for whom nothing seemed to be too much trouble. All very efficient. I would have no hesitation in returning to this hotel if we again have a golf tour in this area.

"Good value"
Stephen W, 16 Mai 2016

Stayed here on business last week, requested a quiet room but got one facing several air conditioning units, room changed but not the same standard as first room. Receptionist confirmed my booking requested a quiet room they had missed it. Room had everything that was needed but had to request an iron and ironing board. Carpet in the corridor bit grubby. Overall dinner OK, starter very good main course OK, service very good. Good nights sleep, bed a bit creaky, hot water in shower. Breakfast very good. All staff friendly and helpful. OK if travelling on business but the hotel doesn't appear to be close to anything.

"Comfy Beds"
Tim P, 13 Mai 2016

A clean and purposeful hotel. This is very much a travelling persons hotel with a big open lounge and dining room with plenty of seating, big screen tv's and good live football coverage! Good service from the bar and a simple menu with unfancy grub. Rooms are clean and spacious and consistent.

"An Eye For Detail"
BruceAJM, 12 Mai 2016

We were on a Mystery Weekend Tour with Epsom coaches; The Appleby Park Hotel was to be our base for the duration of our long weekend. We were under the care of Deputy Manager Mark Ford. What a treasure he is! We were so happy to be in his care. He had a great eye for detail: if he saw something needed doing, he just got on and did it. I don't think I saw him stop in all the time that I was there. He clearly has a bright future and deserves every success in his career; he is a true asset to Best Western. We were very pleased with the hotel as a whole, the food was of a good standard, well cooked and well presented. Our rooms were comfortable too. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel. "Wonderful 3 nights in excellent hotel"

The stay in this hotel was excellent, the duty Manager Mark Ford performed all his duties far beyond what you would expect and was always polite, and could not do enough to help everyone and made our stay special

"Excellent Staff, meals and room."
Barry G, 04 Mai 2016

My wife and I stayed for 3 nights (29th April -1st May) as part of a coach party. Excellent, very professional, friendly and helpful staff. Outstanding job by Deputy Manager Mark, nothing was to much trouble for him or the rest staff. Food well cooked, plentiful and hot. Our room on the ground floor was clean and well maintained. Many Thanks

"Looked after very well"
Sally M, 02 Mai 2016

Stayed at this hotel as a coach party and have to say the service from the duty manager Mark and his team was above and beyond what we expected. Could not fault for the attention that was given to the party along with the friendliness. Food was very good as well as the rooms. Mark worked very hard and nothing was too much trouble. The whole team delivered excellent service with a smile. Well done to you all. ??????????

"One night stay"
coach_driver39, 30 Avril 2016

Very easy to get to the hotel just of the M42 room was clean and fresh staff are friendly but the dining room was out in the lobby? As there was a conference on it was a bit strange eating in the lobby and cold ? Food was OK over all good will go again if I need a hotel in that area.

"Delivers on all levels"
OMB-85, 25 Avril 2016

Stayed here for a friend's wedding at a nearby village. The overall feeling of staying here was that it is great value for money. Whilst not excelling in any particular area, all of the important boxes were ticked. Comfortable, clean, helpful staff, and good food. What more do you need from a simple overnight stay? Highlight: Breakfast! Puts the £10 'Purple One' breakfast to shame.

"Very Good"
mickholliday, 22 Avril 2016

Stayed here one night on a buisness trip great value plenty of parking nice bar and a good choice of food in the evening breakfast was nice with plenty of choice room was pleasant and clean also free internet which is always a bonus will book here again for sure.

"Surprisingly Good"
Mary G, 21 Avril 2016

My friend & I booked in for just one night on our way to somewhere. We checked in at 2pm & were very hungry! Food is available 24/7, & had a very nice lunch, we also had dinner there & a drink in the bar before hand. The room had everything we needed, probably a little on the small side for 2, but we were only staying 1 night. I think it is more of a business/work type of place given where it is situated so you probably wouldn't be staying for more than 2/3 nights. I would definitely stay there again, so handy for a lot of places especially the airport, without paying airport hotel prices, 15 mins to EMA. All the staff were friendly & helpful, WIFI was excellent too. Good value for money(although I did book way in advance)

"Fantastic Break ."
Heather P, 18 Avril 2016

What a lovely Hotel , superb value for money & really deserves an extra star !! The room was lovely & clean with comfy beds , & we slept really well . Dinner & breakfast were both excellent , good choice & freshly cooked at a reasonable price .The staff were amazing & were prepared to go the extra mile to help in any way at all . We usually stay at 4*/5* hotels but have never experienced such warm & welcoming staff as those at Appleby Park Hotel . Highly recommended . Special thanks to Mark & Alison . Hope to return in the future .

"Good hotel "
Neil G, 03 Avril 2016

Stayed one night after been to the gadget show at the n e c. Nice and clean hotel lovely room had a few drinks and a meal. Food was good evening meal and breakfast. Good all round stay. The hotel is right on junction 11 of the m42/a42 there is a McDonald's just across the road and a petrol station. Hotel 20 to 30mins from n e c at Birmingham.

"Cheap but it shows!"
corhiain, 30 Mars 2016

We stayed here for one night in March following a wedding, although that in itself was a challenge. The hotel didn't make its rooms available on line until the start of the year so we were unable to book util January and the price the hotel offered us, which we were told was a great rate, was £30 more than booking.com so search around for prices! We didn't check in until 12am but the night staff were very accommodating and helpful and we were soon in our room. Now we had only paid £49 for the night but it did show. The carpet was damp near the bathroom, as though it had not yet dried from the last guests wet feet, it was all generally a bit grubby with hairs in the bathroom and the bed was on par with a waterbed meaning whenever you moved the whole bed wobbled about! In addition you could also feel either springs or hard bits on the mattress through the paper thin sheets that added to the uncomfortable night. It should also be said that I was apparently in a recently refurbished room! It was cheap but it should have been at least clean and basic with a reasonable bed. All I can say is that the breakfast was very good and that was worth the extra money! The hotel was convenient for where we were but I would not stay again.

"Great Easter weekend stay"

Great value for money hotel ,very clean ,tidy ,precentable and friendly helpful staff .The buffet breakfast had lots of choice and was really delicious!! We all enjoyed our stay and would stay again .A great location for twycross zoo couple of miles down the road .

"Stayed one night"
PCH525032, 27 Mars 2016

A good economical hotel, well situated in the Midlands on the M42. We stayed one night at this hotel as it was only 25 minutes to Birmingham Airport. It was a typical chain hotel room with everything that was required.

"Not the best, not the worst."
Brian P, 18 Mars 2016

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. On the positive side, I found it exceptionally quiet (important for a light sleeper like me) and the breakfast was excellent. Overall though, I would say that the accommodation lacks a little flair. The room was okay and the bathroom good - but the bed itself, the linens and associated touches seemed utility standard only. But it was fairly inexpensive and perfectly good for an overnight stay.

"A staff of two halves."
andy w, 11 Mars 2016

Nice enough room, clean bathroom so whats not to like? This is clearly a hotel used mainly by business folk during the week and as such is pretty soulless. We always try to engage with staff as we have seen how badly some of the public treat them. However on this occasion, with some staff, there was no point as they seemed unhappy and merely getting through the shift. Perhaps the "smilers" could train the grumpies. Sorry.

"Ok for a stop over but not suitable for a coach party"
Ruth W, 07 Mars 2016

We had a double room which could have been better. Room cold on arrival heating activated when key in slot. Throw on bed dirty stains on carpet and no bedside shelf missing and not replaced. Shower goes from cold to scolding when showering as if someone has flushed a chain. Bed felt as if it had been used as a trampoline and although sheets were clean had a sweaty smell to it. We were a coach trip with Leisure time holidays do not travel with them my shopping trip to Cheltenham and Birmingham involved spending 3 hours waiting at this hotel before evening meal. Which we ate in the hotel foyer not the restaurant.

Nice and clean Nice bed clean bathroom Nice meal Nice free breakfast Easy to find Had a nice trip to the zoo The bad meals are high in price staff never helped us to the room as we had our own travel cot pushchair bags The road is loud not very nice for kids here don't think it's that safe

"handy location"
Harry S, 06 Février 2016

good price room ok staff good but food although quite good still not worth the money location for measham very good but it has very little atmosphere pity as staff really try hard some of rooms are a long way from e reception for some reason this hotel like others seem to like to fill furthest away rooms first god knows why very annoying after a long day

"Pleasant Stay"
Tim P, 09 Janvier 2016

I use the Best Western at Appleby Magna regularly. Check in and check out are always handled efficiently. The rooms are always clean, well furnished with comfy beds and a small desk Area. Food is served in a large lounge area with Sky TV playing and I always find the dinner to be good value with prompt service.

"Twixmas in the Heart of England"
cliveu_11, 01 Janvier 2016

On a twixmas break with David Urghart, upon arrival we were greeted very politely and directed to a table where staff issued your key cards for you room this was done very quickly and efficient. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable great shower/bath, good tv and two chairs and table. after settling in we made our way to the restaurant fro the evening meal the seating was around a table of 10 people and each table went up for there meal after the other got there's, the first night was a bit slow but the remaining time went like clockwise. the entertainment was good I preferred the male singer on the second night sang a lot of 50's 60's music. Marc and staff are fantastic they all went the extra mile to make this stay enjoyable. stress free they are a credit to Best Western. Wishing them a big thank you and a happy new year

booked twixmas break with David Urquhart Travel allocated hotel as our base to visit Nottingham , Stratford on Avon and Warwick , pick up Sunderland excellent clean coach very comfortable loads of leg room , our driver Neil very friendly and informative. arrived Hotel the allocation of our twin bed room 114 very quick. spacious room with large disabled bathroom and toilet combined. bar area very spacious, appeared there was 2 D URQ coaches booked into the hotel for the 4 days / 3 nights total guests around 70. in dinning area allocated 7 large tables with 10 covers . all 70 guests dining at 7.00pm. 2 out of the 3 nights ours the 1st table was last to be invited to get our main course at the buffet servery , a few guests were a bit disgruntled as to the waiting time up to 1 hour from 1st course to main course on the 2 nights , we did get allocated the 1st visit to the main course buffet on 1 night . Breakfast on 2 mornings was the same 8.00am nearly all 70 guests queuing at the same time trying to the buffet style breakfast usual full english menu offer - que's for the toaster and cereals also the tea and coffee. 3rd morning was much better as staggered times of 7.45am and 8.00am for the 2 coaches departing that morning not as hectic . Staff very friendly even when faced with unhappy guest comments as to the evening meal service, the entertainment provided was ok the last night was just back ground music. enjoyable stay , the only comment I have would be to stagger the meal times if coaches party's are booked in- less stress for the staff ,

"Lovely short break"

We stayed here for 3 nights dinner, bed and breakfast with a bus tour, could not fault anything, rooms were good, food very nice , staff were great, they went out of their way to please everyone, Mark Ford and his team, the public areas are lovely, bar etc, will definitely return here again.

"A nice place to stay"
LadySpringbok, 16 Décembre 2015

Nice hotel for a one night stay. Very pleasant and helpful staff. Dinner was ok - my husband probably made a poor decision when he chose the pizza because the food being served around us looked plentiful and good. My home-made veggie soup and rolls was good, so much so that l didn't have space for the triple chocolate brownie l thought l might have at the time of ordering. Only downside was the fact that they don't accept £50 notes. As visitors from South Africa, we were not aware that this would be a problem. Certainly, Natwest Bank, from whom we acquired the banknotes, did not warn us of a potential hiccup. Fortunately, a very helpful Manager solved the problem.

"Last minute decision"
rollo2522, 01 Décembre 2015

I stayed at this Hotel whilst on business and needed a hotel at the last minute. I had never stayed here before but knew what to expect in a Best Western. Iwas not dissapointed. I had a nice meal a lovely bed and courteous staff looking after me.

"Fantastic service"
PhilandDi045, 22 Novembre 2015

Visit on a weekly basis and the service is always first class The waiting staff are very efficient, and the food is always hot and substantial Just got back today from a wonderful Sunday roast. Not had to use hotel but looks lovely and clean

"Great stay"
Stephanie G, 19 Novembre 2015

We stayed for 2 nights. Its a great location for doing a lot of activities as a family. We had breakfast included in the very resonable price which was great. Room was comfortable for the 4 of us not that we did anything but sleep in it as the Hotel lounge area was comfortable and spacious. Every Great Western hotel needs a Mark

"Basic but does the job"
jonny g, 19 Novembre 2015

Location is good for a business overnight stay but that's all really. Basic even for a superior room, shower fantastic except tray was full to overflowing in a couple of minutes so you have to be quick!! Sink the same so maybe a drainage issue. Food poor but as you'd expect for basic hotel really

"Appleby Experience"
Peter R, 18 Novembre 2015

Hotel close to A42 easy reach to North & Midlands. Hotel is clean and the Staff very friendly. I would say ideal Hotel for Business. The Hotel is out of town therefore not very good to explore the area. I found the Hotel quiet perfect for doing paper work etc.

"LOCATION IS FAB GREAT VALUE FOR MONEY"
Mel H, 15 Novembre 2015

This is perfect located hotel for a stopover. Straight of the motorway, room is standard and clean The staff are friendly and professional Free Wifi However the bed was not comfortable (personal taste I suppose) as the right side of my body felt paralysed for 2 days after I wouldn't recommend a stay here for more than 2 nights as the hotel lacks a certain atmosphere.

"OK, but nothing special"
vicky k, 14 Novembre 2015

Stayed here as a family in the half-term hols due to its close proximity to Twycross Zoo. Staff were friendly, room OK - breakfast not as good as a Premier Inn but OK. Free WiFi throughout the hotel, which was useful, and although right next to the motorway the room was really quiet. So absolutely find for what we needed - but more expensive than other hotel chains but nothing really to make it any different from those cheaper hotels.

"Great Value for money"
robbie1doe, 09 Novembre 2015

This hotel is well run clean great service top class helpful friendly staff and management free wifi in my room nothing was to much trouble for any of the team food was excellent breakfast cooked to order i stay in hotels 40 weeks a year and have to say this is one of the best value for money hotels ive found yet

"Between houses"
Ronald L, 09 Novembre 2015

Waiting for a new house to be completed it was convenient to stay local. We were made most welcome and the meals we ate there (7 breakfasts and 3 evening meals) were of superb quality and ample portion. The room we had was more than adequate but the bathroom was in need of refurbishment. Being local we know the limescale problems with the water and over time it is impossible to keep on top of this problem, but it didn't affect our stay and we could see the efforts being made to improve this hotel. It is right next to junction 11of the M42 and is central for attractions like Drayton Manor, Twycross Zoo, Leicester Space Centre, and Tamworth's wonderful castle. Cadbury world and Birmingham's attractions are not far away. Just a little further is West Midlands Safari park and there is a wealth of information at the hotel to give the whole family a great vacation. By the way, we used Tesco Clubcard vouchers to help spread the cost which makes it even more attractive.

"Nice Hotel"
Kathy D, 01 Novembre 2015

Just got back from this Hotel stayed over night with my 5 year old grandsonTobias. Staff very friendly Hotel spotless . The food was okay nice and hot. Rooms were very nice but the bed wasn't very comfortable didn't sleep very well. But overall enjoyed our stay.

"Ok but nothing special"
Westcountry35, 01 Novembre 2015

Stayed for 2 nights as part of a living social deal combined with tickets to Twycross zoo. Room was ok but in definite need of updating. The bathroom was very cold and very dated. Bed was comfy enough but not a patch on premier inn. Breakfast was very nice and the bar/lounge area was nice and modern. Nothing close to the hotel apart from a garage and a McDonalds. We didn't have dinner in the hotel but ate at the Appleby Inn 2 mins down the road - well worth a visit. To sum up it was fine for the price we paid but I don't think I would choose to stay there again. Very convenient for motorway.

"Average"
Peter B, 28 Octobre 2015

Reminded me of a travelodge. No character, clean, basic, pleasant staff. Decent sized room, close to the motorway but not overly noisy apart from kids running about in the corridor. Breakfast pretty mediocre and room rate quite high in my view. Good sized car park and very easy to find. Think budget stopover rather than holiday base.

"Great stay"
indian_queen8, 27 Octobre 2015

Stayed here for 2 nights as part of a Groupon deal. We refused the tickets to Twycross or the Safari Park and instead went to the National Arboretum. Room was clean and comfortable. Free Wi-Fi was a bonus. Great dinner menu and very well presented. Breakfast was good. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff throughout the hotel. Waitress in dining room deserves a special mention - she also shared my love of cheesecake ! Very well recommended by her.

"What a great couple of nights!"
Vikki A, 20 Octobre 2015

I stayed here with my partner and family as part of a Living Social deal for West Midlands Safari Park. Super comfortable beds, clean and tidy. The buffet breakfast was excellent (you HAVE to try the scrambled egg), serving bacon, sausage, mushrooms, eggs, hash browns, toast, beans. Then you have your cereals, croissants, jams. Truly fab. The only peeve we had was that there were children running the halls above which kept my sister in law up. We were offered a free night but had to leave. Of course, thats not the hotels fault. Great little place to stay and will stay again if in the area.

"friendly, clean and quiet!"
372sarahjanek, 18 Octobre 2015

Booked three rooms and all were close to each other. All were clean and tidy.Service was friendly and morning breakfast was good! Good selection of food to eat. The bar was open until late too. All staff greeted friendly and warm welcome once booked in at desk. Thank you!

"Pleasant stay"
lezli105, 15 Octobre 2015

We stayed here for 2 night b&b with Twycoss zoo tickets last weekend. The rooms were clean and had the basics which was all we needed for 2 nights. The bed was very soft and quite low down which may be a problem for some to get out of. There was plent of space to hang clothes and was centrally positioned for a lot of local attractions. The restaurant was just inside the main doors and you had to walk across it to get to the hotel reception, which was a little odd. The evening food was quite expensive but the portions were decent. The breakfast was a self service, all you can eat buffet and was very good. There was a decent car park and free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel. All in all, a pleasant stay and I would consider using this hotel again.

"Strange Layout"
IrishDave2005, 14 Octobre 2015

I stayed here for one night for business. The room is fine, bed comfy, TV working, shower good. I'm all about the bar and food when staying in a Hotel, feeling relaxed and winding down. The bar here is the main foyer with dinner type tables and chairs, so i didn't really relax. I had a drink, ate some food and went to bed as a result. No gym which annoyed me slightly also. Car Parking and Wi-FI is free.

"Nice hotel"
Rob B, 03 Octobre 2015

Stayed here for two mid week nights having booked a living social deal including tickets to the Zoo or Safari Park My group consisted of two adults and an 18 month old baby The price of this deal was only £79 so I wasn't expecting much however I was pleasantly surprised The hotel staff are extremely pleasant and very accommodating to young children. When you enter the hotel there is a lovely reception and bar which has clearly been refurbished with care. This also serves as the dining area I didn't eat an evening meal here preferring the local village pub but the breakfast was excellent. Plenty of variety, hot and unlimited in portion The bedrooms are clean and spacious hut could so with some modernisation, in particular to the beds which were most uncomfortable. The bedrooms are however perfectly functional and a nice base for your days out The location of the hotel is superb and it's within a reasonable drive of Birmingham, Worcester, Warwick, Leicester, Derby and Nottingham so there is plenty to choose from It's close to a motorway but you wouldn't know as there's no road noise whatsoever which is always a bonus In summary a very good little hotel, highly reccomended

"Worst western "
Charlotte A, 02 Octobre 2015

There was no consistency between the staff.... The restaurant manager was so rude and completely unhelpful. The room was dingy and nothing like what was advertised "colourful rooms" really? and the bed was so cheap and springy, I've had better night sleeps in youth hostel in the outback.

"Convenient location for travelling"
noeman456, 01 Octobre 2015

We needed a convenient location to M42 for an overnight stopover. The hotel stay was fine. We slept well and continued our journey the next day. If travelling north on the M42 /A42 it is useful to know that the hotel is on the south side of the motorway

"Friendly staff, rooms & bathrooms need updating."
PekStu, 30 Septembre 2015

Stayed here for two night in September. Food in restaurant was average, rooms are bit outdated, maybe they should change the carpet and put som kind of wooden flooring? Bathroom was renovated but with horrible plastic carpet, so it felt outdated too. If you don't close the bathroom door during the shower, the fire alarms go off. The bed was extremely uncomfortable, i felt every spring in my body (room 211). Free WiFi worked very well. The staff is friendly and thats why the hotel gets 3 and not 2 stars. There is nothing else in the surroundings except Shell petrol station and a McDonalds.
