As I was staying in several 4 and 5* properties during my recent trip to the USA, I decided to save a bit of money and stay 2 nights at the 2* Best Western Sundial in Scottsdale. The hotel still provided a nice pool, spacious rooms and breakfast included. Whilst there are definitely 'no frills', the staff were all very friendly, the rooms very nicely appointed for a hotel of this category and the breakfasts more than adequate. All in all, this was an enjoyable stay which represented very good value for money; particularly as you are a stone's throw from Scottsdale Old Town.
Very good House in the BW Cosmos. Fast check In, good room, good breakfast, fast check out. Friendly staff. Super good central location. Only the parking cost 10 $ per night also for guests. I think it should be for less when i stay in this hotel.
A Wonderful Stay at Best Western Plus Sundial – Perfect for Families and Highly Recommend! I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Best Western Plus Sundial in Scottsdale, and I honestly can't say enough good things about it. We brought the whole family along for this trip, so we needed multiple rooms, and from the moment we arrived, everything was just flawless. The staff made sure that all of our rooms were close together and perfectly set up, which made things so much easier for us. It's clear that they really care about their guests and pay attention to every detail. The hotel itself is beautiful. The grounds and buildings were absolutely spotless — I don't think I saw a single thing out of place the entire time we were there. You can tell they put a lot of work into maintaining it. The lobby and lounge area were so welcoming and well-appointed, it was like a little oasis every time we came back from exploring Scottsdale. My family and I loved just hanging out there and unwinding — it was so cozy and comfortable. And the pool area? Fabulous! We spent so much time there. It's not only sparkling clean, but the perfect spot to relax after a day in the Arizona heat. The pool area is well-maintained and has plenty of comfortable seating, which made it ideal for both lounging and letting the kids splash around. Our rooms were perfect too. The housekeeping staff did an outstanding job every single day. I don't think I've ever stayed anywhere where the rooms were kept so consistently clean and well-stocked. They were also incredibly accommodating — anything we needed was handled quickly and with a smile. Having multiple rooms could've been a challenge, but they made it so seamless for us. One of the highlights of our stay was definitely the breakfast. It was phenomenal! The variety was impressive — everything from delicious eggs, sausage, and potatoes to freshly toasted bagels with cream cheese, and even these homemade breakfast burritos that were to die for. Every morning, we were all excited to head down and eat. It was easily one of the best hotel breakfasts we've ever had. We were also blown away by the front desk service, especially from Shiv. He greeted us with the warmest smile every time we came back at the end of the day. Not only did he remember our names, but he also knew our room numbers, which made us feel so welcome. That personal touch really added to the experience and made us feel like more than just guests passing through. But what really makes this place special is the owners. You could tell they were on-site constantly, making sure everything was running perfectly. Their attention to detail is just amazing — from how immaculate the hotel was, to the personal care they took in ensuring every guest was happy. They were always around, checking in, and you could feel how much pride they take in their hotel. It wasn't just about keeping the place running smoothly, they truly cared about creating a great experience for everyone staying there. That kind of dedication is rare, and it really showed in everything from the upkeep of the property to the way they interacted with guests. Their hands-on approach made such a difference and gave the place a personal touch that you just don't find in most hotels. If you're ever in Scottsdale, I highly recommend staying at the Best Western Plus Sundial. Whether you're traveling with family or on your own, you'll be so well taken care of. It's not just a great hotel — it's an experience that's made all the better by the passion and dedication of the owners and staff. We will absolutely be back!
Rooms were clean and comfortable with a modern looking appearance, pool and other amenities were clean and organized. Staff was friendly and helpful. Hotel is in an excellent location where you can walk anywhere for lunch/dinner and to Fashion Square Mall.
Decent place, very nice staff but rooms lacked the little extras like shower cap and make up remover, half and half , or a place to fill your water bottle or microwave. It's Right in the heart of the hustling nightlife so it's quite loud day and really loud at night. U have to initial a form that says u can't get a refund for noise. If your into the night scene it's right there out the front door. The sky room has a nice private balcony and for the price was worth it.
What a Great stay! This hotel nestled right in Downtown Scottsdale was a great find for my wife and myself! The staff that worked with us Hector, Shiv and Sergio were nothing but top notch! Pleasant, Professional, and met all of our needs and beyond. Room was a smidgen small but, clean and warm atmosphere. The room was lacking power outlets to plug in phones and chargers. However we travel enough to make sure we have small power strip and extension cord. Not by staff but architectural design coffee maker located on nice marble vanity however, with no outlet close, you have to move coffee maker to opposite side of sink to plug in. Unfortunately, we were looking forward to a nice jacuzzi after dinner but it was not working.
We thought charging $10 for parking was outrageous in an area where parking is plentiful, and other hotels have free parking. It is really more of a motel than a hotel, since we have to walk outside to get to the rooms. In Aug, that's a pretty miserable experience. We didn't sleep much, because the room would not cool down. We also asked for a midweek 11 am check out instead of 10am, as we were so tired from the hot room and they wanted $20 for the extra hour. Do better BW and especially the Sundial location in Scottsdale. Although we like BW Plus, we won't be staying here again.
This is a good value in a tourist town. if you just want a place to overnight, the rates are less than the resorts. This BW provides all that you should expect from a mid level . breakfast is not a buffet but you order from a " menu " at a counter and the lady hands you the order. The selection and quality are a cut above the std. buffet. Parking is at a premium in this area. There is a $ 10 fee to park in the lot just behind the motel. We could see our car from the window in our room and it seemed safe. I would recommend this BW.
Stayed at my favorite hotel in Scottsdale over the memorial Day weekend Jude and his crew were excellent again and thank you very much. The jacuzzi in my room was the highlight of my trip plus the pool, Dino. at the front desk was exceptionally helpful and kind. I definitely would recommend the sundial hotel for anybody that would like to have a good time shopping and eating in Old Town Scottsdale. Looking forward to staying at the hotel over the 4th of July weekend and thank you very much
COMPLIMENTARY breakfast was great, and so were the people serving it. "Best Western" might conjure up a budget average place, but this was really quite pretty, clean and convenient-- better than we expected! Entire staff was nice, too. Great for walking to Scottsdale restaurants.
The people were very friendly and helpful. From the Desk Clerk to the Food Hostess to the service personnel all met our every need. The room was very clean and comfortable. The location to central Scottsdale made it easy and quick to see all the sights. Multiple different dining options are within walking distance.
We spent 5 days here & were extremely happy with our stay. It is an older hotel but very well taken care of additionally it was spotless. Our room was on the 3rd floor, we had a suite with a living room & separate bedroom with a balcony that faced the street. The King bed was awesome & we slept comfortably. The free breakfast was amazing & the variety was superb and the coffee was always fresh. You could choose from scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage's, French toast, pancakes, hard boiled egg, yogurts with fruit or fresh fruit, muffins, bagels, toast, oatmeal & juices. When we got there, we were charged for parking, but I had read that handicapped patrons were free, when I went upstairs, I looked for it on their website & when we went out for dinner, we showed the Night Manager who graciously waived our parking & ensured us that he would let all the employees know. The staff were all extremely friendly & helpful. We were a bit worried that we would hear the nightclub just down the street as our room faced directly down from the nightclub. We had read previous reviews stating the sound of the bass & noise was extremely loud. The nightclub is closed on Tuesday & Wednesday 2 of the nights we were there, so it was not an issue. On Thursday night we put our air conditioner on & me being a very light sleeper with excellent hearing thought I would be wakened up and was happy that I slept like a baby. Friday night we only heard 2 sirens going by & that can happen anywhere even at home. The only thing I can think of about the reviews stating the noise was extremely loud & the bass was unbearable and the walls were shaking is that these other guests had their windows open while they slept. The hotel is built with brick so I cannot believe the walls were shaking from the bass of the music. We defiantly recommend you staying here & we look forward to staying here again. Make The Best Western Plus Sundial hotel your next getaway today & believe me you won't be disappointed!!
This is a high quality Option..Its a nice cozy, well maintained Option..We all have Options..This location will not disappoint..The Staff is easy to talk with , of any local events or things to do... OPTIONS...
Decent breakfast (lots of choices on yogurt, wish had waffle but was not on menu); toilet water running when I entered the room and had to play with handle to stop water running; sink drain plug stuck in close position and once I pulled it out I left outside of sink: I have visited this hotel in the last several years and this time was the first time I had to pay for parking fee (10 dollars per night); this place is in some type of entertainment district and heard the bass boom music all night from the nearby clubs; there is the Fashion Square Mall in walking distance
This hotel sits right across the street from a techno club called "The Riot House." Apparently there are no city ordinances regarding noise, and fixtures in the room shook until 2AM. The mattresses are worn, and caving in, the pool is nice, and breakfast was good... although there was not enough seating for our family to dine together.
The staff at this hotel went above and beyond for me. They were so kind and accommodating. When my TV wouldn't turn on, a staff member responded right away and quickly fixed the problem! The breakfast is fantastic, location is great. Able to walk to bars, restaurants and shopping.
Everyone should try a jacuzzi tub hotel experience on a special occasion. This kind of experience should be showcased and marketed more in the hotel industry. I would like to see an optional dining experience partnered with a local fine dining restaurant.
I found that the Sundial was a nice location to stay for a work conference that was taking place across the street at the W. It's a decent location with a good night life if that's your thing. There was a few locations for late night eats across the street and a convenience store that stayed open pretty late due to the Entertainment District across the street. Other than that, very pleased with the friendly staff, the clean and comfortable room, and its closeness to attractions such as the Fashion District and Old Scottsdale Town.
A very nice hotel with clean and extra spacious suites. The beds were comfortable and it was exceptional quiet. Breakfast was real good with choices and the lady server practically took your request at the food counter of the breakfast. One could have choice of eggs, yogurt, bread or bagels and almond milk. Very impressive! Only odd thing was the hotel charged us a fee for parking our car and the car park was just behind the hotel.
I'll be staying here every time I come back to AZ! Sergio welcomed me as soon as I walked in and made me feel right at home. He was so kind and attentive throughout our stay. The pool was sparkling clean and towels were always stocked. I really felt safe seeing security patrol the parking lot throughout the night and actively checking dark corners. Our room was spotless and we had such a relaxing and comfortable visit. My perfect experience (and being that close to Sprinkles cupcakes) have me already excited to come back again.
Great team. Great facility. Very clean and well mentained. Exceptional overall service from everyone that I encountered. I didn't get to use much of the other features but they looked great nonetheless.
Love staying here.Every time i check into the Sundial I feel like I am family .Everybody from Jude the GM to the pool boy are top rate employees! Very hard to find these days. Also i had a room with a hot tub in it. Very clean and relaxing.THANK YOU for the great room and service!
Shopping, dinning and entertainment is all within walking distance! The only place to stay while visiting Scottsdale! The staff is amazing, extremely helpful and eager to help with anything we needed. Breakfast is the best, just like home cooked food.
This was an absolute beautiful queen property with an outstanding continental breakfast hotel staffing service was great for the most part I did have one small issue were my room was enter without my permission. But overall great experience
Great staff from the moment we arrived. Even greeted in the parking lot. Breakfast was good and served by the very friendly staff member. The day Clerk took the time to give us a list of restaurants within walking distance for breakfast. We definitely would stay here again
The hotel is very clean, the staff is very friendly and accommodating and we only wish every hotel was this good. Dino at the front desk is exceptional in his kindness and willingness to do everything in his power to make us feel taken care of. We really appreciate how great this experience was. Thank you! Great breakfast spread too.
The stay at this hotel was a wonderful experience. The hotel was spotless and very comfortable. The staff was very pleasant end engaging. The pool was spotlessly clean and it was most enjoyable to have breakfast pool side. The hotel was Centrally located for walking to shopping, dining and just a few blocks from Old Town.
Hotel was very clean. Pool was nice. Hotel was close to a lot of night life and restaurants, malls etc. close to the canal which was nice to walk along.we were on the first floor and was easily accessible although one of the upper floor rooms would have been nice with the balcony. We try to stay at best western plus when we vacation because they are a good value and a nice hotel.
The room was very comfortable and quite. Loved the Spa tub in my room it was very private. The bed was comfortable I didn't want to get up and start my day the next morning. I recommend this room for a romantic get away or just a couple weekend to get away.
I've stayed in many Best Westerns over the last four decades, but this is one of the best combinations of staff and facility. The desk staff was both friendly and helpful. The facility is nice, quiet, and right in Scottsdale. The facility is very modern in appearance and yet still very comfortable to stay in and pleasing to the eye.
This hotel is centrally located to all of the events, actions, and food places in Scottsdale, AZ. The staff is professional and hospitable. The breakfast was pretty good with a lot of breakfast food variety to choose from.
The hotel is a smaller unit but has everything. Internet, hot breakfast, fitness center, and most important the staff was amazing. It is located minutes from downtown Scottsdale. We went for a staycation and picked the room with jacuzzi tab. It tub was large enough for two adults and the jets felt so relaxing. A great hidden gem in the big city.
This hotel is next to lots of raging clubs. You will not get much sleep because of noise. We booked the jetted Tub room and the drain was broken and the tub wouldn't stayed filled up. Had to switch to a room with 2 queens with no compensation.
A lovely hotel with great staff. My only advice is to put your money in the provided safe. Disappointed in the young girl who always looks at check out etc . at the front desk. She was shocked to see we were still there after Thanksgiving weekend. She knows who she is and hopefully this review will give her a shake. I will never lay blame because a job is so important.
Nice 5 night stay in Scottsdale, third floor room, clean and modern, and great breakfast selection. A lot of nightclubs in the area, but we didn't hear much in our front-facing room. Good location to walk to Scottsdale shopping and restaurants, just over the canal from the hotel. We would stay here again.
There are 30 night clubs are across the street. Music plays all night until 4:30am while cars race down the street right in front of the hotel. If your there to party, it's great. If not, you won't sleep.
On my latest Diners, Dive-in's and Dives road trip I stayed at the Sundial twice over 5 days. I am a Best Western Rewards member so I stay at Best Westerns as much a I can. On my second stay they remembered me and I got upgraded to a suite. The hotel is located close to Old Scottsdale and there are many great restaurants within walking distance. I tried a few when I didn't feel like taking a long Uber ride to a Triple D. I found the staff were really good. The rooms were clean and airy. The suite I had was quite large. I found that even being on a busy street there was not much noise. I did not try the breakfast buffet so I can't comment. The one strange thing was almost all my Uber drivers had problems finding the hotel on their GPS. I have stayed at many Best Westerns and have never had a problem, but I have to say my stay at the Best Western Plus Sundial was one of my better ones.
First off, the staff are all super friendly and our check-in experience was great. The pool is lovely, though you can't escape the beats from the weird hotel pool across the street. The breakfast is sold as full, but it is in fact limited to a list from which you are allowed to pick a few items. At night, there is some noise from the clubs across the street, especially from the bathroom.
Great breakfast, lots of great options for ourselves and our toddler. No playpens or cribs, we thought this was strange as all other best westerns have had them for patron use. Pool was closed at 8pm, which we thought was early, as the weather was lovely, and again, all other properties have been open until 9 or 10pm. Overall, great service from all staff we encountered, lovely property. We liked the proximity to old town Scottsdale, within walking distance.
Very attentive staff! They take pride in what they do and do it genuinely. Thank you for a great experience! I was there for 6 nights and got to know most employees! What an amazing team committed to customer care.
Excellent customer service from Dino and the team. Room was spacious bathroom very nice and clean. Excellent location convenient walking distance from food and bars. Would definitely return for another 3 day weekend.
Pleasent clean helpful above and beyond .. it was nice to see a modern take on the hotel breakfast was served hot and it was a beautiful location right in the middle of everything. We enjoyed ourselves
Right from the beginning when I called to book a room, Sergio was very helpful and friendly. Checking in was quick and easy, loading and unloading was close, the room was very clean and large. Looks new and built very solid.
Love visiting this hotel. Great service, clean rooms and great location. Jude, Sergio and Jessica always greet me with a smile and always make sure all my needs are met. Pool is amazing and safe parking as well. Thank you
Fabulous location. Can walk to Fashion Square and Old Town Scottsdale where there are fun bars and quality restaurants. Great breakfast at the hotel and very helpful staff. Pool area was nice, hot tub on the smaller size. Would definitely stay here again.
This is a very nice hotel. While the interior and exterior decorating is not what I would have chosen, the property was clean and staff were very courteous and efficient. My room was very quiet as it didn't face onto the street. The hotel's location is a bit off putting at first as there is a vacant lot adjacent and there are two entrances. The parking lot and one entrance are off an alley to the back of the hotel, so it could be confusing to find the place at first especially if you arrive after dark. The pool was clean and well-stocked with towels. The only negative comment about the pool was the scratchy music always playing. Either the speakers or the connection were bad. We complained politely, but rather than turn the music off the desk staff told us that they were working on fixing the problem. Breakfast was included with the room. The breakfasts were acceptable and the woman managing the breakfast service was very efficient ( pleasant demeanor, too!) They offered scrambled eggs and bacon or sausage, potatoes (all pre-cooked, not to order) toast or bagels, yogurt, fruit, bottled water and juices. I believe they had cereals as well but I'm not a cereal eater do didn't pay much attention to the options. All in all it was an above average hotel for roughly $150 per night for a king room.
Okay, first off I am a real fan of Best Westerns. This property though, is NOT up to the standard. First the good: Has a nice pool area with plenty of loungers, and the "hot" breakfast provided in the morning is a nice addition with ample offerings. Now the bad: The rooms are clean however pretty dated and tired. With a dark late 80's ,early 90"s motif. The bed in our room was actually the worse my husband and I have ever been on. Not slept in ,as we get to the main issue with this MOTEL, and for us it was a BIG one. The loud noise. I had read the reviews and in hind sight, wish I would of changed directions. There are several night clubs within blocks of this motel, as well as a popular party pool hotel adjacent to this Best Western. Loud music during the day(weekends) and then continuing all night. I can understand why there is a reserved lot next door for Police Parking. Now, I know this can't be helped by the unfortunate location of the Sundial, however at least control their own guests noise. Even though we were a family we were booked next to 6 college kids. They kept us up from 1:30 am to 5:30 am. When we complained to the manager she said she would of moved us had we asked. Alright, so the solution for their guests partying is to make a family with children get up, pack and re-situate in the middle of the night to accommodate loud obnoxious guests rather than enforce their "strict" quiet hours policy. Wow! Throw in the extra charges for parking and a barely early check in (total of $40.00 extra dollars) that was not mentioned during check in, just confirms the Sundial was not a good choice for us.
This place is 5 stars! The staff are great/ super friendly/ clean/ good location/ good breakfast/ good leadership and attention to detail. My description of this property would be……………..I highly recommend
Very clean and newly renovated hotel. Walking distance to Scottsdale Waterfront and Fashion Square. Canal trail only one block away. Friendly. Noise from bars across the street and a block away can be an issue. We were located on the back of the hotel and did not experience major problem with sleeping.
Interesting experience staying here. We know Scottsdale well, since we used to live there for many years. We were looking for an inexpensive but well located hotel in Scottsdale for a quick couple day visit. This did fit that bill. Now, Why only a fair rating? Well, pretty much because this is a very average, slightly primped motel. Not much else. Also, and this is a big one, of you are looking for quiet, this is absolutely not the place you want to be. Directly across the street is now the nightclub scene for downtown Scottsdale. The loud, thumping music from various clubs goes on well into the wee hours. The only saving grace is that you can run the AC/fan unit to drown most of it out. Had to laugh that in a vacant lot next to the hotel is a sign reading, "Police Parking". That speaks volumes! It is also a strange room layout in that you basically enter the room in the middle of the bathroom. As you enter, to one side is the sink, and to the other is the toilet and shower. Therefore, unless you take your shoes off before entering, you will be walking in/on whatever may or may not have been on you shoes from outside. Otherwise, the room was not a bad size, and the bed was comfortable. OK, there are some positives. Again, the location is excellent in the heart of Scottsdale. Easy to walk to many restaurants, stores, the old 5th Ave shopping district, and the Scottsdale waterfront (canal). Also, the included breakfast was pretty good, and very easy. The staff serving breakfast were extremely nice, as were any of the housekeeping staff we spoke to. A particular shout out to Dino at the front desk. He is a gem. No, we would not stay here again or recommend. Too many other better options.
Husband and I had an overnight stay in this well-located, relatively new, basic hotel. It is not a resort/spa, but rather a downtown hotel that appears more geared to short stays for business travelers. There is a swimming pool across a busy rear alley for the avid swimmer and 'Old Town' and the Scottsdale Artists School is about a mile away from the premises. Parking is free in the adjacent parking lot, but there is no valet/bellhop/concierge service. The front desk and breakfast staff were polite and efficient. The room itself was spotless although smallish with a 'tight' feel. Room amenities included an iron, hair dryer, coffee/tea maker, small fridge, walk in shower and very comfortable queen beds. There is no view to speak of. The included full breakfast was welcome and more than adequate.
Excellent location in Scottsdale, AZ. Room was very quiet, clean and roomy for us. Loved the towels and mattress. Thank you for providing a great stay for us! We will definitely stay at this location again when visiting family in the Phoenix area.
Great stay! Went for a couples weekend! Got upgraded to a balcony room! Dino at the front desk was great! Close to all our favorite bars & a $9 Uber ride to camelback MT. Room was clean & quit! The maids came everyday & freshened up our room! Can't wait to come back!
For the price this is an excellant hotel. Good hot breakfat, helpfull and pleasant staff, and clean rooms. Convenient location. You van walk to old town Scottsdale. Walking distance to some rerstasurants. Would definately go back.
When we visit Scottsdale (about 4-6 times a year) we always stay at this Best Western. We always experience friendly helpful staff. Plus it's close to several points of interest as well as shopping centers.
We stayed 2 nights in this hotel while on a recent road trip. We had a difficult time finding it at first, as the front entry didn't stand out during the day, and nearby construction closed off entry from the back. Check in was quick and easy. Parking is at the rear on either side of the pool. The hotel has a higher end, art deco vibe, but entry to each room is via an outdoor hallway like a motel. There's a slow elevator from the lobby, with stairs at either end of the hotel. Our room felt a bit cramped with its 2 beds, single nightstand between, console with desk, and easy chair. The nightstand lamp had outlets, a nice convenience. The shower and toilet were behind a louvered door (not a great idea), with the sink area in the main part of the room. There was no separate exhaust fan in the shower area. The grout in the shower area was either dirty or moldy. The rest of the room seemed clean. There was a safe in the closet. A fridge without freezer was behind a door in the console. Louvered sliding window coverings revealed a sliding glass door and balcony, a nice touch. Our room faced the pool. The bed was rather soft and movement weren't well isolated. We didn't sleep particularly well because of this and noise in the outdoor hallway. We were surprised that full maid service was provided. A full hot breakfast was served 6:30-9:30 am on the weekdays we stayed. The pool area looked really nice, but we didn't try it out. It was only open until 8 pm.
Nice breakfast option, great staff, free parking 1 car per room, outdoor pool and small gym. Rooms were clean and nice. Sink outside of bathroom are, safe in closet. Disadvantages: high-end motel style so all room doors face an open outside area and there is a noisy bar across the street with bass booming until late at night so it isn't as quiet as other hotels. Also the pool was cloudy and seemed less clean than any other of the 13 hotels we have been to in the last year.
Beautiful place to stay! Because of the brick walls it was hot in the room and never cooled off to what we would have liked. Staying at a different time of the year would be more enjoyable! It is also across the street from clubs, so it was pretty loud until 2-3 am. I'm sure that location would be great if that was something you were interested in doing though! The room was very nice, better breakfast than other places and great and friendly staff! We would definitely come again!
Nice, clean hotel with great customer service. Close to many nice places. Breakfast was good with many different choices. Would definitely stay here again if we need to go to Scottsdale. Love the cleanliness.
We just stayed at the Best Western Sundial and were very impressed. It has a great location being right by the mall and fun things to do in the area. They have a nice pool. The price was great but the thing I liked the best was how friendly the staff was. They had a really nice breakfast and everyone made you feel welcome. Great deal!
Clean quite rooms. Excellent friendly staff. Well maintained, everything works. Pet friendly. Serves a very good breakfast Nice heated pool. You can't go wrong. Stay here. This is our place to stay when we are in Scottsdale.
My one star goes to the staff. They were great. Everything else in this hotel is horrible. We travel a lot, over 30 nights stay this year, 3 BWs. Never a complaint before. I cannot wrap my head around how this hotel received all those positive reviews; makes me question who writes these.. Location- if you are a huge party person- this location is for you. There are numerous night clubs all around it, which caused one hell of a nightmare night for us. Constant loud music, honking, drunkies, all of that lasted until 5am!! Yes, we slept for a whole hour and a half during our stay. Neighbors next door playing loud music and smoking on their balcony in a non-smoking room. I took a pillow at 1am to go sleep in my car just to find 6 people sitting all around my Mercedes drinking and putting their feet on my car!! In their “secure” parking lot. Tried re-parking my car- unsuccessfully. Told the front desk, who only consisted of one guy, felt bad for him. There is really nothing he could have done. He said it's a norm. Well, not according to other reviews I have read. None mentioned this horror. Went back to my room, it's 2am at this point and I have a huge headache with banging music and loud noises, sirens and honking. Room- layout is really funky, to say the least. No shower door or curtain. AC blows right on top of you. My daughter wakes up at 4 (I don't know how she slept through that noise) telling me something is poking her. It's a mattress spring that got lose. Bedding was terrible smelling a strong chlorine odor, to the point I started having hard time breathing. Went to the bathroom, tried sleeping there. I am surprised there were no bed bugs that I am aware of. Honestly, people, who are you leaving great reviews? I have stayed in budget hotels a LOT, but this was by far the worst in many many years!!
This was such an excellent choice for a stay at best western for my first time visiting Arizona. The building was clean and modern. Close to shopping and sights to see. Will definitely stay here again the next time I visit.
Stayed 1 night on 7/6 - 7/7. 2nd time ever at this hotel. THE GOOD: Room was immaculate! Just like in the photo, EVERYTHING working, nothing missing nothing broken.. as advertised. The staff was friendly & willing, from the front desk people, to the pool patio cleaning lady to the lady providing the breakfasts. The whirlpool inside the room is great to get naked with your spouse, lover or mistress. THE BAD: The JACUZZI was NOT spraying bubbles. This was the main reason I stayed here, I dont have one at home, wanted to get the massage and rest on my body. I usually call to make sure it works as its common at hotels, didn't call and sure enough, it wasn't working (pay the plumber!!!) GRRRRRRR.... with that said, another cool thing of this hotel is they have an bathroom and shower so you can remove the sweat before you jump in the water and when you leave to remove the bleach. IT WAS BROKEN!! (pay the plumber.!!!!! GRRRRRRRR.... then, they have 3 tables with nice parasols, ONE WAS BROKEN (the stem) but was moved by the wall?!?!?! Why leave the eyesore for me to see? Either you fix it or dump it. I don't want to see a broken parasol resting by the wall. Lastly 2 more things, the pool had a nice water fountain, you guessed it, BROKEN with a PVC pipe exposed. REALLY????? again, if it's broken, fix it or dump it or put a wooden decorative sign etc. but dont leave an eyesore, then by the same fountain wall, a big cracked exposed gap on a cinder block, it reminded me of the Florida fallen building. A simple cement fix, yet a huge cracked gap. GRRRRRRRRR.... This hotel is worthy of 5 stars but the pool area has really been ignored greatly, this brings it down to 3 out of 5 stars. I suspect this hotel had a change of ownership perhaps? I do want to note they were replacing the fake grass on the hotel. The aforementioned is more important in my opinion. Across the street, there are many nightclubs and woke up at 10 PM and i could mildy hear music (the AC is a wall unit so its noisy that it buried the music outside), if you are sensitive to noise at night, you may need earplugs or request to get a room by the pool (back of hotel).
Every staff member we encountered during our stay was friendly and efficient. They went out of their way to make this the best possible experience for us. The breakfast had a variety of options and was very tasty.
We've stayed at this Best Western before when we have visited Phoenix. It's centrally located to many attractions. This time we visited Butterfly Wonderland which is only six minutes away. We are always treated exceedingly well by the staff. Rooms are comfortable and enjoy the in room whirlpool.
Everything about our stay at Sundial was just fantastic. The gentleman at the front desk was courteous and knowledgeable. We stayed in one of the whirlpool king suites. Beautiful room with a nice, easy lighting...walk in shower with terrific water pressure, wonderful in room jacuzzi, bar and exceptionally comfortable king size bed. My husband and I were escaping for the night. Will definitely keep Sundial in mind for a longer weekend or other stay! Highly recommend!
With Jude at the helm Sergio, Dino, and the overnight Sundial manager are totally hospitable and on point. Smiles mean much to travels and the Sundial greats us with that joy. When attaining breakfast you get the ideal host of Vicky and Claudio with their groovy ability to satisfy the many traveler they service(kudos to them). The nifty housekeeping is stealth(so I do not know their id”s) however perform with extreme efficiency. Packing to go back soon. You will be pleased if this hotel fits your genre.
My sister and I stayed at Sundial for a "family reunion". Staff very friendly and accomodating from the start of the visit to the end. They all seemed to like their jobs, and were very efficient and smiley. We even had a medical emergency where I needed to call 911 and Sergio was very calm, efficient and concerned after the ambulance left. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. Dino, front desk manager, very friendly and informative. Breakfast was a full meal, cafeteria style, with even a gal freshly scrambling eggs as you wanted them, 2 out of 3 days were were there! Motel very clean and well taken care of. I asked for more towels and coffee packets and before I even got up to my room on 2nd floor the housekeeping gal handed them to me! Very impressed with communication! Wow. I was always greeted with a smile and hello as I got off elevator. We loved having a balcony, but I did ask for one prior, which I got without reminding them on check in! Once again impressive! We were on Camelback side, but I didn't mind it, more activity than on pool/parking side. Music was loud one night, but didn't keep us awake! I am so thankful I chose this motel, as not a large one and a little away from the Scottsdale action, but walkable, if one is active. We didn't use the pool, but it looked very clean and inviting. Thanks everyone, great stay!
Such a great trip to Old Town. Great clean & modern hotel close to all the fun bars and restaurants . The let me and my boyfriend check in early which was great. Used the pool both days & there the only ones down there Super clean pool bathrooms as well. Breakfast was great too, Lots of choices from fruits to hot breakfast options as well. We where told it was a far walk to the grocery stole / liquor store & it wasn't far at all.
We have been visiting Best Western SunDial for about a year now. We have always been treated very well. I would say family like. This visit was no exception (3-11 to 3-25-21) . This was the first visit that we had the pleasure of eating breakfast and enjoy each meal. Claudia was friendly, kind, and insured that all guest well served and fully satisfied. Which is also a testament of SunDial's leadership. Mr. Jude, Jessica, Sergio, Mia, and Dino were again incredible in service, care, and concern, and relational to my wife Franki and myself. They made sure to show concern for my wife, who has been ill and for me as her caregiver, providing us with the little extras needed to insure our comfort. Dino (from him and staff), even delivered flowers to Franki after her surgery. Wow, incredible people! We've felt value at each visit as Im sure you will as well.
The hotel is walking distance to great restaurants, bars and the best mall! The facility was very clean and fresh. Staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very good - hot and served by a quick, competent staff member.
A real value in Scottsdale. Caring staff. My sister forgot her insulin in the refrigerator. The front desk had in our hands within 30 minutes after we left the hotel. They had kept it refrigerated for us and even delivered it to the car when we returned to retrieve it.
This was located RIGHT by Fashion Square/ Old Town/ bar scene. We were able to walk to all of them. They had a secure parking lot in the back for our rental car and easy access to main roads! Unfortunately the pool was out when we were there but it looks like a good one too!
The Best Western Sundial was a special treat. The uniquely designed room with it's private jacuzzi was perfect for a relaxing end to a busy couple of days off travel. Our favorite yet!! We'll be back!!
The good: reasonable clean, staff was friendly and helpful, decent location next to many options for food. The bad: annoying music Piped into all the hallways, pool was closed, beds were squeaky and log overdue for replacement, lack of attention to detail (hvac filter was clogged and log overdue for replacement).
I specifically picked this hotel because of the location & them being pet friendly. Old Town Scottsdale (with bars, restaurants & shopping) is a short walk away. Hotel is fairly clean & do accept pets. Front desk check-in/out was quick & easy. Staff was friendly & helpful. My issue was the hotel room. The room/bathrooms are dated & in need refreshing. The bathroom doors are slatted (louvered door). Horrid design feature! It offers little privacy if someone is using the bathroom. Due to Covid breakfast is grab & go. Basically a bottle of water, Nutri-grain bar & a piece of fruit. Coffee was good but We went elsewhere for breakfast. Overall, staying here two nights was just ok. It was great being walking distance to Old Town & their additional pet fee is very reasonable. Hopefully they plan to renovate some of the rooms in the future. Tip: request a room with a balcony. Nice amenity to have when the weather is nice.
Had heard some great things about this hotel. But honestly I was disappointed. If you are expecting a pool or hot tub don't bother. Both were ice cold. I totally get grab and go breakfast with covid. But this made a typical grab and go look gourmet. A bottle of water an apple and a granola bar. Service was ok not exceptional. I see no reason to stay here again.
So accommodating and generous with their time. There wasn't a single request that wasn't fulfilled. Every guest was treated with that attention to detail. Happy, convenient and safe! Perfect for Scottsdale Old Town! Check out their sky suites for an extra special stay!
Breakfast was brown bag with 1 apple, 1 bottle of water and 1 package of graham crackers. If that was not misrepresented a week prior when I made the reservation I would have chosen a different hotel. Expected more for $150 a night.
We have stayed at the BestWestern Plus Sundail before. Really enjoy staying here. Very clean employees very personable, always a smile on their face. Check in/ou t extremely easy. Walking distance to several restaurants
This hotel is in a great location just off of old Scottsdale. But its there.... walking distance to the area... my 4 th stay there and staff has always been great . Will be coming Back .... well worth the money
BW Sundial in Scottsdale, AZ was efficient, easy to book, and has friendly staff. As an out of state landlord, they made it very easy for me to book a room for my tenant for an extended period of time while the AC was repaired in my rental unit. They even reduced the price due to the extended stay.
The internet service was super inconsistent, felt like I was booted off longer than I was logged in. The cable on the tv went out when we were there and I couldn't get it to work correctly. The breakfast that was a huge selling point was so underwhelming that it actually ruined the stay more which I didn't think was possible. And the staff was unfriendly at best and downright rude at the median
I usually stay at a different facility when we travel to the city. However, our last stay at this other property was very disappointing, obliging me to find another place to stay. We now have a new favorite. The outside is very dignified. Check-in was very quick. The guest room was beautifully decorated and very, very clean (important in this time of sanitary issues). Swimming pools are an important aspect of where I choose to stay. The pool/spa area is beautiful and peaceful. We will definitely be staying at Best Western Plus Sundial again.
When making reservation was not told there would be no free breakfast. Also was under the impression that i was making reservations for a king jacuzzi tub with atrium suite. Not what we got. Duck poop in pool and jacuzzi. Yuck. Party 2 doors down. People smoking pot on property. Unless manager is on shift you will not recieve good service at front desk. When i complained he just replied he needed to shoot the ducks. Flying bugs in room. Room cleaning knocked on door between 8am-9am. Soda machine only take dollar bills, DO NOT PUT IN QUARTERS, DOES NOT RETURN ALL OF THEM!
Great place to stay and within walking distance to anything you need. Super clean and quiet pool. The front desk manager was extremely helpful. I was very pleased with the experience. I will stay there again.
Water had bsd oder and taste. Bed amd pillows were the best Ive experienced and walls and floor were solid so no noises from anything other then door as they are exterior. Breakfast was very good although a 6:30 start was a tad late for me.
This hotel is convenient to everything. The room was A good size and the bed was comfortable. There was even a little deck. The front desk staff are very nice and there is a free breakfast in the morning. I have stayed here several times. In the past I've needed to ask for a quiet room because there is an entertainment district across the street, but this time there was no noise! As a solo female I feel quite safe staying here.
We were very pleased with our 5 night stay at this BW. Impressed with the friendly and helpful staff and the very nice breakfast including hot oatmeal and really good coffee. The downsides were in the room. Very dark because they have heavy and awkward wood shutters that keep out the light. We had a balcony but it was cold and dark. They should remove the shutters and just use standard drapes. The windows have very dark green tint to keep out the sun, but because the rooms face north and the balcony is deeply recessed, the sun never shines anyway. The shower has a glass half-wall so that you are always exposed to the cold air. The shower head is 6 feet high so a shorter person can't reach it to use. The location is excellent except for the terrible noise from the many nightclubs nearby. The hotel has extra security on the weekend nights due to all the party goers wandering around. If you are a clubber, then this is the place you will love.
We travel to Scottsdale several times each year and normally stay at one of the resort properties. This time our usual hotel was unavailable and my wife convinced me to try the Best Western Sundial. I'll admit I was skeptical, the price didn't seem to match the location. I was very pleasantly surprised, the hotel was clean, well maintained, comfortable and up to date. The free breakfast was a bonus but it was the service that put this hotel over the top. We would definitely recommend this hotel.
We stayed two nights here and were impressed with its comfort. Our large, second-floor room faced the street but no noise from traffic or nearby night-spots entered. The immaculate space held such items as two extremely comfortable beds, a big flat-screen TV, a small refrigerator, a safe, iron and ironing board and plenty of storage space. Coffee-making facilities were available. The room seemed to have been updated recently, using the original footprint. Thus, a sink and counter, just inside the entry door, stand opposite the room that holds the walk-in shower and toilet. I rarely see this configuration today in newly built hotels. It would have been helpful to have a trash receptacle in the bathroom and a plunger for the toilet as well as two extra blankets in addition to the thin one on each bed. We liked having a balcony that overlooked the pool, which we didn't use in February. Staff all proved to be upbeat, helpful and professional, from those at Reception to those at breakfast. This small buffet was included in the room rate and had items, such as oatmeal, eggs, bagels, yogurt, juice and fresh fruit. I especially liked the Illy coffee, because this is one of my favorite brands. The location was perfect for walking to numerous restaurants and to Fashion Square with its myriad shops. There is a parking lot by the pool and the hotel has an elevator.
Found this hotel to be fairly priced for the area, good location, clean, well maintained, very friendly, knowledgeable staff. Easy access to transportation and within walking distance to tourist area.
2nd holiday at this hotel great location good rooms good breakfast great staff couldn't do enough for you-we don't drive abroad and this hotel perfect for visiting old town and shopping mall-plus outdoor pool was heated and great to use
We had a room with a jacuzzi which worked well. The room was clean and modern. There was a mini fridge, no microwave. They only offer thick pillows so if you like a flatter one bring your own. I could not sleep on the pillows they offer. It is a good location to walk around Old Town Scottsdale. I did not hear the nightclub noise other reviewers did and our room was to the front of the hotel on the first floor. The desk staff and kitchen staff were helpful, personable, and professional. Breakfast had sufficient variety. Check in was quick. We did not use the pool area, but it looked very nice.
Too noisy ! As other clients , it is horrible to sleep here. If you want to have a good night sleep, don't stay in this hotel . The only solution the hotel suggests you is earplugs ! We have been informed about that before our check in . The only good thing : It is clean .
I love this property easy to get to anything and the staff is amazing the rooms are clean.. We stay here when we go to old town Scottsdale. I highly recommend this property!! Jessica was able to get me the rooms i wanted.. breakfast was great. night auditor was out and about he was seen. check in was fast and easy.. i will deff. be coming back here
Stayed here one evening after landing at the Phoenix airport. This hotel is in a good location and was solid overall except for the loud music from local nightclubs - didn't realize how loud it would be in the room when booking. We needed a good night's sleep and, fortunately, the front desk had earplugs. We were told the city's noise Ordinance allows the music until 2 a.m. Due to this, would suggest earplugs be provided in each room without the need to ask. Pool and hot tub area were nice. Would stay again if/when preference is to be close to night-life.
nice rooms vs the price and other hotels in the same budget range. very good location dryer machine not working properly, so if you need to do laundry you need to dry 3 times. very nice staff nice outdoor pool
Very nice property , Quiet hotel , nice and relaxing right in the heart of the everything you could possibly want , we walked to all the restaurants , shopping , bars , feels safe to walk anywhere in this area and transportation was everywhere if needed !
Granted we came during a low season, price was excellent for the amenities we received. Jacuzzi tub was very relaxing, pool was 85 degrees and very clean. Breakfast was homemade scrambled eggs, fresh fruit and wonderful red potatoes. Nice oatmeal and French toast with lots of toppings. Great bacon one day and sausage links the other 2 days. Front desk staff was so helpful and friendly. Location was great, free parking and no resort fees. One of the owners even gave us passes to the botanical desert gardens.
This was a very reasonably priced hotel within walking distance to Scottsdale's most renowned shops, restaurants and night life. The rooms were clean and spacious, included a fridge and safe. Breakfast was included and had something for everyone, from yogurt, nuts, cheese, fruit, two different types of eggs, oatmeal, pastries and more. Super friendly staff and well kept grounds and pool. Will definitely stay here again.
If you are looking for a hotel that is within walking distance of Old Town Scottsdale, I highly recommend this location! Very clean and comfortable. The staff is extremely helpful and nice. Best Western is my brand of choice and this hotel was everything that I expected. It even has a chair lift to help a handicapped person into the pool.
We stayed at this hotel upon arriving in Phoenix and then stayed again a couple of days later. Was hoping to stay again at the end of the trip but their prices more than doubled so we stayed elsewhere. The hotel is in a great location, within easy walking distance of Old Town Scottsdale and the fashion mall. Our room was clean and a good size (we had a room with 2 queen beds) for the 2 of us. Beds were nice and comfy so we had great sleeps. WiFi was excellent. The breakfast was excellent, lots of choices of hot and cold foods. I really appreciated they had almond milk as I can't drink dairy. The only negative is there are some nightclubs nearby so if you're a light sleeper this hotel may not be for you. Also, they need better street signage our GPS led us right to the hotel but at night it was hard to see the Best Western sign so we ended up missing it the first two times we drove by LOL.
Very nice BW, friendly staff. Location was perfect, very close to Old Town. Good breakfast, newly remodeled and very nice rooms. Will be back for sure! While we didn't use pool or fitness center, both looked very clean and well maintained.
It was great hotel and close to everything we need to walk to in Old Scottsdale. The two complains I have it is very close to the bars so it is very noisy. Second the pool and hot tub were great but they use strong chemicals so it was hard to breath at first. But then you got use to it.
Very Pretty Property. Did not get to fully appreciate the entire property but what I did see was very nice. Stayed one night got there after dark left early the next day. Would stay here again if in the area.
I always like to stay at the Best Western Plus Sundial as service is excellent clean and I love the coffee and breakfast and the high speed internet. I always recommend them to my friends. I always find the experience very comfortable and satisfied.
I stayed at the Best Western Plus Sundial for my first solo trip and it was the best choice I made! The price, location, and service was exceptional. I was on the first floor with a Jacuzzi room and king bed and had no issues with noise whatsoever. The breakfast was delicious and the staff worked tirelessly to ensure all the guests were satisfied. Everyone at the Sundial was amazing but a special mention to Esthela Ranger who went above and beyond. I definitely recommend staying here!
This is a great little hotel and find. It's perfect for exploring Scottsdale. Right across from the bars and clubs for night time adventure. Also right down the street from the Scottsdale Fashion Mall. Just a couple minute drive from 'old town'. This hotel is in a perfect location. The hotel is incredibly nice as well. From super clean rooms (get the jet tub room) to a tasty breakfast selection in the morning!
Be specific about what type of room you want , they have rooms with and without a balcony also the room design with the sink to the right of the door and toilet and shower across cramped the entrance.
Went to Scottsdale Canal convergence last Thursday night had to much fun so I remembered the Sundail was down the street.Jude and his great crew had a room for me even through I didn't have a reservation.Again the room and front desk crew were above good. Thank you again clinton
It has been many years since I have been to this hotel; but I had fond memories and wanted to revisit it. I am happy to say that it will remain on my "favorite hotels in Arizona list." Though it has been around a long time, the hotel is very clean and modern. It has a small, but nice, pool and fitness center. The highlight is that some of the rooms have whirlpool tubs when it is getting hard to find ANY tubs in hotels these days! The staff (Dino, Jessica and the others) is excellent. They are friendly, attentive and responsive. Any need or issue is quickly resolved. They make you feel very welcomed. My thanks, too, to housekeeper Rosa, for returning a lost item. The location is wonderful. Parking is free and it is only two blocks from hundreds of excellent stores, restaurants and movie theaters at Scottsdale Fashion Square.
Great Hotel and Great staff. Staff went above and beyond to accommodate when I needed to print contracts for business. Hotel is clean and breakfast was hot and fresh. The location of the hotel to night life in Scottsdale is perfect!
I stayed here two years ago and upon my arrival Jessica remembered me ! The hotel is spotlessly clean everything is just superb I spend over 100 nights a year in hotels and this the first time I have awarded the highest rating special thanks to esthela and Jessica duty managers
At check in I was greeted by Dino, who was welcoming and engaging. I was in town on business, and needed the “lay of the land”. Dino checked me in and walked me across the street and pointed out where to go (and not to go). My Room #301 was spotless. It was a Sky Suite, oversized room with a large sitting area (enough for 8 people) with a flat screen TV. There was a balcony overlooking the mountain and the entertainment district. Breakfast every morning was hot, fresh and changed daily (good variety) The housekeepers kept my room perfect. Every member of the staff, from the Front Desk to housekeeping to the breakfast staff always had a smile and a hello and asked if I needed anything Walking distance to dozens of places to eat, a huge mall and other areas of interest Thanks for making my stay exceptional
We were so taken back by this location that our 1 night stay end up 4 nights. First the visual ambiance of the hotel was far more than we expected from our online booking, our kingbed was very comfortable, the room was very large, the walk-in shower was very nicely done. The pool, with a nice touch of small water fall plus a jacuzzi was very enjoyable. All this was out done by the extremely warm friendly efficient service from everyone we came in contact with especially, Esmeralda (her correct name escapes me at this moment but I'm sure you know who I'm referring to) at check-in, Jessica and the entire staff at the breakfast area and the kind Ladies who freshen up our rooms who so kindly would direct my husband (83 yrs) who would need so direction to our room. And not to forget Jude, who assisted my husband up to our room with the luggage cart at our extended check out time. We are not big on the bar or shopping scene, but all within walking distance of this fantastic location. Again we strongly recommend this more THAN PLUS LOCATION! Hope to return some day. Rita Churlin
My husband and I spent 5 nights here. Ideally located, walking distance to attractions, old town, supermarket etc. On main Camelback Road. Lovely outdoor pool. Car parking free and at rear of hotel. Rooms a good size clean and with everything you need. Clean and airy. No funny smells or bugs or dirt. Comfortable. Breakfast good. Nice food, enough to choose from, no complaints at all Staff friendly and helpful. Asked for an issue to be sorted - it was promptly - no excuses or fobbing off. This is a good place to stay if you want decent accommodation, reasonably priced, in a central location, with a customer service that is EXCEPTIONAL. Thank you to all the staff that made our stay enjoyable.
Stayed for 5 nights in October Ideal location on main road through Scottsdale and easy to walk to Old Town. Nice outdoor pool and gym. Car park at rear and spaces always available. Room was spacious, bed comfy, ideal for our stay and as described. Cleaned daily and toiletries provided. Laundry room, ice, coffee making facilities in etc. Breakfast was good - enough to choose from and tasty. Staff helpful and all needs we had addressed. Jude Nau GM sorted our problem on last night where we disturbed by noise from an event in the town. No issue at all and true to his word sorted it all out and communicated this when we got back to the UK. Would recommend staying here - good clean accommodation providing everything you need for a comfortable stay at a reasonable price. Customer service excellent.
We had a great time in AZ and staying at the Sundial was the perfect location. We were very close to the nightclubs in the evening and sports bars during the day. We were able to walk to old town Scottsdale and go to the little shops. We hiked camelback mountain. We had a great time and the BW Sundial was perfect!
Had been this hotel a few times and this time I hit almost jack pot. I had to wait for the receptionist because she was helping out other guest but onec my turn came around it was pretty quick and also received a gift bag with two bottoles of water and some type of trail bars. Water is always good to have. Later on that night, I realized I did not bring my toothbrush but I had no problem to obtain from the front desk. With working wirlpool spa tub (last time did not work), I really enjoyed and was able to relax that night. My kids stayed in other room and told me there was no refrigerator, though. They had ice cream but guess what? My bed sheets seems to be old and worn because I felt those tiny balls on them. Breakfast was excellent. I had my usual dishes (bacon, egg (imitation?) oatmeal with coffee and Chobani yogurt and there were more choices in the breakfast bar. Overall I was pretty satisfied with this stay.
Loved the Best Western Sundial. Excellent value. Really enjoyed the pool, clean and well kept. Breakfast was great. Staff was terrific. So much to do within a walk or short Uber or golf cart ride. We'll be back! P.S. Hot water issue was very temporary. Things happen. Hotel had it fixed ASAP. Deal with it people!
Super dedicated employees, very helpful in particular the manager Dino. Clean and big rooms and bathrooms in them. Beautiful swimming pool to be used. In general a very good service. Better than a 4star hotel!
Great trip, facilities were extremely convenient, walked everywhere but also on free transit route, hotel staff very helpful and friendly. Clean, great breakfast included, lots of options, coffee and tea 24/7, nice pool.
No hot water on 1st night nor the next am @4:30. No electrical plug near mirrors at sinks. Bathroom doors do not stay open. Had to get completely in shower to turn water on, then get out until water got hot.
Really love this place...small, clean, bright. Close to downtown Scottsdale. Great restaurants, nightlife across the street. Parking is different, but easy in and out. Rooms are made of granite brick, so there is a coolness as soon as you walk in. Rooms are laid out nice, not your typical sq. box but elongated with a picture window looking down Camelback. Big closets, a comfortable chair to sit in with a swivel top to sit your coffee of computer on. The grounds were immaculate. Defiantly a place I will be back to.
The only two things I require from the hotels I stay at are 1) cleanliness, and 2) warm water. The room was clean but I was forced to take a cold shower even after letting the water run for 15 minutes. Not a great way to start an important day.
Very nice, small hotel that is in easy walking distance of shopping and dining along the canal in Old Scottsdale. Staff were super friendly. Room was very nice. Will definitely stay here if back in the area.
We have stayed there many times. This time the reservation was made on there site. The picture of the room is the type we have stayed at before. A king/whirlpool room is the picture on the Best Western site. Thus we were surprised when we arrived and it was not the same room. We were told we could not change, and it was non refundable. Upon returning home i fill out the survey they send to you, hoping of a response. I received the form letter from Jessica Granadino, front office manager. The letter saying this was " no difference ". in the rooms i stayed in the past. Do not believe the pictures on the web site, and call to make sure they are giving you what you want. I am a Diamond member in the Best Western points system. Only 1 group higher then this. I stay with Best Western more then 12 times a year. I dont think i should be treated like this.
The room was quiet, and very well appointed. The ground were meticulously kept. The staff qas very friendly and accomodating. It can be difficult fimding such a great hotel that is pet friendly. Our dogs loved the elevator ride!
My family and I took a few days to visit the Sedona area and stayed at this location on our way back home. The Staff was great and focused on our comfort. The rooms were clean, bed was comfy and the breakfast the following morning was hot and tasty. We will definitely stay here again.
Great hotel in excellent location. Everyone in the stuff was very helpful. Very large room with large bathroom and coffee amenities. Excellent position next to restaurants bars in beautiful Scottsdale Great choice to stay in Phoenix area
After dropping our daughter at NAU, we stayed in the area visiting with friends and family. This was a wonderful place to stay. Close to shopping and galleries in old Scottsdale. Staff is friendly, amenities are great.
Great staff super friendly. Quick and easy check in and out process. Room was clean and well designed with balcony. Pool was open till 10 pm. Breakfast was warm and good. Area seemed to be okay, security guard walked around property all night. Close to Fashion Square mall and many restaurants.
This hotel has everything your family needs! The hotel is beautiful and is in a great location! The customer service was excellent! The staff was friendly and helpful with anything that we needed. The pool was clean and perfect temperature! We will be returning!!!
My husband and where so happy with the room and a great whirlpool tub, the pool was just the right temp and very clean we had a great night away trip. We recommend the Sundial Too soak your troubles away and relax !!
This is an extremely well kept property in an excellent location. While staying, I was in walking distance to a grocery store, drugstore, and plenty of eateries! I would highly recommend the Sundial to anyone staying in the Scottsdale area.
The location is fantastic and the staff are really nice but again Best Western being out of of Arizona it's corporate offices you would think hometown would be off the chain. This property does not qualify to be a Plus. Needs more attention. I give it an average because it was not as bad as the other properties which were by far worst. Sedona and Lake Powell. Now those were bad. If your going to be called a BW Plus or Premiere then dress the part folks because 5 stars you have to really make it happen. Breakfast was not good either.
This was a really great experience. The check in was fast and easy, the room was beautifully decorated and very clean. The people that work there were wonderful. They have a great continental breakfast with a decent selection. The hotel is very close to really great shopping and some fun restaurants. I really loved staying there. I will definitely recommend this hotel to everyone and I will be back.
I reviewed this place the first time 2yrs ago. It's only gotten better. Efficiently run (hi, Jessica n Sergio!) friendly, comfortable.... The really cool part is: they are taking great care of the pool (clean, cool, clear) and the bekfast buffet is better than ever. Super nice in the heart of Scottsdale fun. It's fun!
Love the convenience of this hotel . Close to bars and restaurants. Always a nice place to stay. I don't know why there has to be a minimum of 200 characters to land a review. This should be taken out of surveys
The entire staff is excellent and always very friendly, courteous and helpful with any of my needs!! I always stay at the Best Western Plus Sundial! It is centrally located close to all sorts of restaurants, bars, and shops (Fashion Square mall is walking distance).
The Sundial is a great place to stay when in need.I recently had to find a place to stay overnight due to my air conditioner failing at home and the Sundial provided a clean and save place for me.The staff was very professional and the room was perfect.I would definitely recommend and stay there again!!!!. Thank you for making my nightmare into a great experience.
Great friendly staff took great care of us for our anniversary staycation. Great location. Everything was very clean. The room was very nice. Looks like it was remodeled not to long ago. We almost always stay at Best Western and they did not disappoint.
This hotel was the best Best Western we have stayed in since using this hotel chain for 19 years. It was only minutes from our preferred shopping center. It was clean and the decor was pleasant. Staff was very helpful.
We have stayed at this Best Western many times over the past years and have always had a wonderful experience. Dinning and shopping are in walking distance and the Scottsdale skyline is beautiful. The breakfast is great. The only downside to this Hotel is, the fact that there are many night clubs close to it and the noise level can become extremely loud. It goes on until 2:00 AM. There is not much management can do about. They have tried. Be forewarned.
I happen to be a fan of Best Westerns and although this Best Western was in keeping with the BW brand I have to say I'm not sure where the Plus comes in. The staff is very nice, I have to say that. And if you are staying specifically for the Scottsdale Entertainment District you are in the right place, if not, you are not. My room was nothing great. Was very dimly lit, not clean enough, on the first floor and as a result kept me up until 2 AM because of all the noise from the Entertainment District. Mind you the noise didn't stop then, it just was less loud. This hotel is not easy to find, we had difficulty with that. Also, it is very deceiving when you see the photos online, in my opinion, it looks nothing like the photos. The breakfast was mediocre at best. In conclusion, not really my type of place, but not the worst I've been in.
Beautiful, modern, location and great customer service!! I stayed in this hotel quite a few times and it has always been a positive experience and never disappoints. I highly recommend staying at the Best Western Sundial!
This Hotel is highly recommended at Scottsdale area. The hotel in not so big, but it is very convenient to go to any places. It is possible to get to Fashon square shopping mall and old town by walking. The room is very clean with comfortable bed. I used the swimming pool. I felt it was a little bi t cool, but Jaccuzi was available. All staff is very kind and good person. Breakfast is very good including fresh fruits, hot items and hot drinks.
We stayed here (using points) for two nights and very much enjoyed it. We had a large, clean room, and the staff were very friendly. The pool is pretty large too: not a proper lap pool length, obviously, but certainly long enough to swim more than three strokes, and the waterfall feature is really fun. I did find the air-con unit to be pretty loud, but that is pretty standard with wall mounted units: my husband grew up in Texas and finds such noise soothing, but I'm a Brit by birth and grew up with completely silent radiators for heating and no air-con - so if you are more like me, just bring your earplugs and you should be OK (I slept fine with the aid of my trusty earplugs). The hotel is also just a short walk to the South Bridge area, which is lovely, with lots of places to eat, drink and shop, as well as a canal side path. I'd be very happy to stay here again, although next time, I'll call them and figure out how to get one of the rooms with a balcony, because they look like they would be really fun!
This was our first visit to the Sundial. First impression: The lobby area was quite nice and the pool area was large with palm trees and a whirl pool. The room itself has been modernized yet because we were on the main floor, our view consisted of a concrete wall, and the room was quite dark. Also, rather than the typical pleasant smelling shampoo and conditioner bottles we would find at other Best Western hotels, this room simply had dial shampoo and soap dispensers which seemed a bit cheap. The room was clean, the bed was okay but we could feel the springs in the bed and the pillows were well used. The breakfast was a nice touch; however found the breakfast nook very dark with little light. I'd recommend this hotel for the budget conscious visitor or for a quick business trip. It was a functional stay.
These are remarkable people! The staff are super friendly and very informed about things to do in the area. The pool and hot tub were very relaxing and highly recommended. I will definitely recommend the Best Western Sundial to anyone who wants to stay in Scottsdale/Phoenix area!
In town for training class, room was clean and well maintained. Great location near shopping and restaurants. The staff was friendly and helpful, storing luggage and offering suggestions for restaurants.
Clean hotel, the staff very respectful and always ready to help. Sergio great person, very friendly and always with a smile. Room very clean, excellent breakfast. The location superb near to restaurant, bars, shopping centers, main roads.
We loved this hotel, with the Frank Lloyd Wright touches. And the location was within easy walking of shopping, entertainment, and Arts Districts. Wish we'd had more time there. The swimming pool looked very inviting.
Enjoyed your hotel and loved the suite. It was nice to have the room to comfortably visit with family. Location was great for day rides on the motorcycle outside the city. We will definitely do it again.
The front desk staff was fantastic, they directed us where to go for "fun", we utilized the hot tub at the hotel in the evening. Our stay was perfect, we couldn't have asked for anything better. Thank you as always.
The Sundial looks nice and has a convenient location. It has the bare minimum of amenities. Very odd parking arrangements but adequate. Be sure to get to breakfast early if you want coffee. No in-room safes.
Stayed here with my family for one night as it was close to the Scottsdale Fashion Square shopping mall. Reception staff very helpful in providing advice about locality and arranging transport to Phoenix airport. Buffet breakfast included in price and was of a good standard, although limited seating area. Room facilities were good. Would stay here again if visiting the area.
Absolutley enjoyed this property stayed here one night before heading to Sedona you can walk outside and go any direction for shopping and nightlife. Fashion show mall is a few blocks away. If you brefer more budget shopping its a Marshalls and TJ Maxx also withing walking distance something for everyone. Nightlife and dinning is just outside the hotel, a short uber ride from Old Town scottsdale. I really enjoyed my stay here. Employees were all very nice and accomodating breakfast was a plenty with many options. Will be staying again when i re-visit this area.
I called over the phone to make a reservation and had the pleasure of speaking with Sergio. He was not only professional, but more importantly, helpful. At the time, the hotel didn't have my room choice available. However, he took down my information and was able to obtain my desired room. I have done this numerous times in the past but was never called back. I truly appreciate the fact that Sergio took the time to follow up with me and fulfill my request. Thank you!!
Great location near Old Town Scottsdale, golf courses and several restaurants. Room was modern, clean and spacious. Staff was friendly and helpful. Free breakfast was very nice. We would definitely stay here again.
We were in room 109 and it was quiet. Great location, close to nightlife, restaurants, shopping and spring training. We were able to walk to great places to eat and if you don't want to walk you can take a golf cart or uber.
We stayed at the Sundial for one night in February. It was clean, well maintained, very comfortable, and the staff was outstanding. They were very friendly, helpful and gracious. The breakfast was outstanding with a varied menu to suit anyone's taste. The pool area was very attractive and looked very clean and well kept. I've noticed others mentioned noise from area bars, we did not notice the noise at all.
Very nice staff, but other than that I would not stay here again. The way the property is set up has all rooms facing the outside patio and it was incredibly loud all night. Every door slamming could be heard and every conversation as well. Beds were not comfortable and the rooms overall were not welcoming or well lit. We avoided spending much time since the room felt dark, cold and loud.
Sleepless nights on the weekend due to proximity to nightclubs. Will never stay here again. The noise overshadowed the pleasantness of the facility. Manager removed noisy nights from bill and moved my room.
It's 12:40 am on a Sunday night and the noise from the bars in the area simply penetrates the room. Waves of bass level. Does Phoenix not have a noise bylaw? How can they operate a hotel here without warning their guests!
Excellent staff, excellent rooms. Only drawback is beyond the control of the facility - the bar across the road that blares boom boom boom music until 2am. We were on the front of the hotel...best to get a room that doesn't front camelback road or bring some good earplugs to sleep.
Great hotel, modern and clean. Wonderful Staff helped with dinner plans. Walk to shopping, restaurants, river area area and close to hiking trails too. Breakfast was amazing and lobby area was clean and modern.
I want to start off by saying that this place is very noisy but it is a beautiful hotel. During our stay there we had at least three times somebody pounding on our door obviously looking for someone else not us but it was just very annoying. The partying till about 2 o'clock in the morning is heard through the walls. If you're going to stay there ask for a room it's in the back of the building that way you won't hear it as much. The hotel is in the perfect location it is well-kept and the staff is very friendly. When I went to check out I spoke to the manager and I believe her name was Jessica if I have her name wrong please forgive me she was very nice and when I told her that this day was a bit noisy she comped our room for us. That of course is never my intention to have somebody else pay for my room I would've been happy if she had taken even $25-$50 off. We will definitely stay there again we will just ask for a different room this time.
Very clean and attractive hotel in great location in Scottsdale. Very professional, friendly and helpful staff. Good variety of breakfast foods. Laundry facilities, gym, office area, pool and spa all very clean .
The entrance to the room is from the outside. It is located in the noisiest area surrounded by bars and extremely loud booming music and party noise. It last all night long. The staff said it is an issue with downtown Scottsdale. The shower design requires a wall built of towels to prevent flooding the bathroom.
This is the way a hotel should be...everything one needs, clean and friendly. No real frills, but really up-to-date styling, and the friendliest staff...we will be returning to Scottsdale, and for sure this hotel.
This hotel exceeded my expectation. When I checked in the front desk manager was very over the top helpful and nice. It seemed very personal, boutique like and even had a "family" or local owner feeling to it. Every time I passed the lobby area I had some type of interaction with a staff checking on my stay. It was great customer service and attention to detail. It's not only a great value with a quality little breakfast but the location is amazing for being a block away from the heart of the nightlife and blocks to Fashion Square and Old Town. The rooms were very modern, super clean, spacious. Great experience.
Staff was friendly and willing to work with you. Prime location in Scottsdale. Overall great stay. We were able to get an upgrade on the room, free of charge because there was an error with the booking. We would definitely stay here again.
What a little gem. The staff are the best, attentive, helpful and full of great suggestions for sites. Just walking distance from Scottsdale Fashion Square, Old Scottsdale and amazing restaurants. There is a company that runs golf carts within a 3 mile radius and it is very fun and affordable. The hotel itself has exterior doors but I felt safe the entire time. The decor is nice with wooden shutters and a nice sized closet. Has a refrigerator, ironing board and iron. My room had a jacuzzi in it but it is not a standard.
Sundial is a comfortable hotel in a convenient location. It had the most helpful staff that I ever dealt with, it had a nice breakfast and I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Scottsdale area. .Tom Lavery
O 2/3rds of our east coast wedding guests were placed in SunDial Best Western four days. After sharing notes with those in another Scottsdale hotel, they wished there had been rooms available! Every staff member greeted them cheerfully. They reported a great fresh cooked breakfast. Walking distance to Old Town and Fashion Square and free trolley were bonuses.
This hotel was an excellent stay. It's really close to a lot of shopping and restaurant options in the Scottsdale area, all within walking distance of the hotel. Breakfast was good, usually had a variety of options. The room was nice, with a comfortable bed and pillows. They did have toiletries within the room, so if you forgot something it was available there. Only thing is that they don't seem to have an airport shuttle, which might be of concern for some. Overall it was very pleasant.
Stayed here on the way home after a week in Sedona. Hotel is competently run and everything worked well. Location is great - perhaps too great as you can feel the bass from the entertainment district across the way. If this sounds bad dont even consider the W across the street which is even closer! With the fan on the room is nice and quiet to sleep or work. Can walk to all the tourist areas and too bad it was too cool for the pool. Would stay here again.
Smaller and more personal stay experience....Hotel staff were very helpful. The grounds and rooms were great! Will definitely stay in this location again! Scottsdale location is very central to everything!
The staff was very pleasant, breakfast was ok. We asked for a top floor and received a 2nd flooor room right on Camelback RD> The front desk clerk stated they were all booked. This room was so loud as it bordered Camelback and Scottsdale Rd. I cannot suggest this hotel to anyone unless they want to hear loud drunks all over until 4 am. I will not return here.
The facility is modern and clean, staff is friendly, but the doors are not insulated so the rooms are very loud. Located close to the nightlife, some hotel guests were drunk and noisy, and there was lots of yelling on the street. Not a great choice if you need to sleep.
The actual name of this hotel is Best Western Sundial Plus. I is a very nice hotel within walking distance to Fashion Square and the waterfront (with many shops and restaurants). The hotel is modern, clean and the staff is great. Parking is free. Breakfast is standard, nothing special. We had a suite which was very nice. We enjoyed our stay there.
Following 3 quiet days and nights at the BW Inn of Sedona, we looked forward to similar pleasantries at the BW Sundial in Scottsdale. We were pleasantly welcomed by Jessica at the front desk and our room, 301 the Sky Suite was spacious and attractive. We weren't too fond of the sink being located in the living area as opposed to most situated with the shower and toilet, the adjacent bathroom door was made entirely of wooden slats and not solid. There was no microwave and the in room safe was not yet operational, small refrigerator, adequate closet space and drawers. The room faced the front of the hotel on Camelback Rd. Looking out of the sitting room windows we noticed a large building across the street with a huge sign proclaiming “Riot House,” little did we know. The Sundial is 15-20 minutes walking distance from the high end and huge “Fashion Mall” as well as Old Town, shops and restaurants. Unlike other large cities, most of the parking in the area was free. Following a day traveling down from Sedona, stopping at some historic places, then hitting the Mall, dinner and picking up some wine and goodies at the Sprouts Farmers Market about 5 minutes from the hotel, we decided to retire at 11pm anticipating a full day of museums and sites the following day. It was not 30 minutes later that we awoke to what sounded like someone banging of the roof with a large hammer. No, it was coming from across the street, perhaps a “boom box” car parked with its sound system blasting, all of our sons had them years ago. No such luck. It turns out that there are nine night/dance clubs within a two block area. The bass and lights could not be avoided. We both had earplugs but they weren't 100% effective. As the front desk reminded us, their website doe state that the hotel is in the “Entertainment District,” only it didn't specify that this wasn't our kind of entertainment. Since this was only Wednesday, I anticipated that it would be worse on Friday and Saturday and wasn't disappointed. We were scheduled for an early flight out of Phoenix Sunday morning and were awake an hour before we had planned to be. The scene on Camelback Rd. at 2:30 am was one that reminded me of the mass exodus of people and cars from a full stadium rock concert or football game. Police cars with flashing lights on all corners, traffic cones and yellow tape running down the middle of the road and hundreds of headlights pouring out from the side streets and beyond. We waited for about 40 minutes for the road to finally clear before checking out. It was only about a 20 minute ride to the car rental return near the airport. More than a few cars and SUVs pulled over along the way. I would rate this hotel 4 stars if it weren't for the dual edged sword of it's location. The breakfasts were fine, parking not an issue, front desk and cleaning staff were all professional and polite. Our room was spacious and comfortable, if only we could have had a few nights of quality sleep.
Room was very clean. It was a bit dark because of the windows facing the back of the hotel (no sun). It had a refrigerator but no safe. Breakfast was excellent (eggs, bacon, potatoes, french toasts, fruits, juices, breads, etc.) Staff was very very friendly and helpful. Small pool but well kept. At a walking distance from old town Scottsdale (20+ minutes). Many bars and restaurants a block away (across the street). Large high-end shopping mall just up the street. Definitely would go back.
From checking in to checking out everything was perfect. We were greeted warmly by Jessica ( I think that was her name) and Sergio. Before I knew it we were checked in with details about the property. Our room was very accessible, clean and modern. The gentleman in the afternoon showed us the pool and health club facility (it was raining when we arrived). The breakfast were served warm and had a selection for everyone. Checkout was a breeze. If your travel plans bring you to Scottsdale this property is a must
My daughter and I stayed here at this hotel and everything about it was great! The staff was very helpful and welcoming. We will definitely be staying at this hotel next time we are down again. Thanks so much!
We needed a hotel at the last minute after our a/c broke. We threw ourselves onto the hotel's mercy and they came up big time. The staff is excellent at this hotel. They could not have been more understanding of our situation. The hotel is just gorgeous. Modern, exceptionally clean and surprisingly quiet. It has every amenity one could ask for. It is in the middle of everything but the rooms are an oasis of peace and quiet. I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone.
Great location for old town restaurant dining and shopping. Easy “Lyft” or “Uber”- just $5!! Rooms very spacious, clean and quiet. Staff very accommodating and responsive. Nice breakfast items to choose from.
truly great hotel right in the center of the city very extra clean, very modern room, great jacuzzi, super friendly staff and amazing fresh breakfast, amazing 5 star treatment, we will definitely return there again.
Great staff, very attentive and anxious to please, Beautiful very clean pool area! Lovely attractively decorated room. Good breakfast, above average! Perfect location! Close to great shopping, golf, Stillman Railroad Park is perfect for kids of all ages!
We were allowed to bring our dog and the room was fantastic. Most places give you a lower grade room because of the ?? but not here. It was a very clean Hotel and the staff very kind. Of course we can't forget the fantastic pool and hot tub!!
Our scheduled conference hotel was flooded out at the last minute and we needed to find an acceptable alternate. BW Sundial was a wonderful find. Newly renovated with a walk-in shower, cooked breakfast, free in-room internet, fridge, filled all our needs. Excellent location was icing on the cake. Would stay there again in a heartbeat. Clean, attractive accommodations.
We booked this hotel for a quick stopover in Scottsdale to visit friends and it totally exceeded our expectations. Much nicer than we anticipated. Everything was new and clean and the decor was beautiful. The staff went out of their way to ensure we were comfortable. We will definitely stay there again when we go back to Phoenix/Scottsdale.
If you pass through Scottsdale for vacation, do not hesitate to stay at the Best Western Plus Sundial. Excellent location, architecture, rooms, breakfast, service, pool. Close to Old Town Scottsdale. Good price. Will come back here always!
Had a great time and enjoyed the whirlpool room. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. They allowed me for a later check out time and the Continental breakfast served was really good. Would recommend.
Stayed here for 3 days in July. Great location to Old Town Scottsdale. Easy access to any direction you needed to go. 101, Airport, 51 or 17 . I had a morning flight in and I was able to check in early.. Breakfast was great.
We stayed 10 nights at this hotel while our house was being remodeled. It was, clean, comfortable, and a good value. The staff was friendly and professional. The hotel serves a hot, quality breakfast. Scrambled eggs were available everyday including hard-boiled eggs, hot and cold cereals, breads and pastries. Bacon or sausage was also available and either biscuits and gravy or French toast and breakfast potatoes. The pool is large enough to accommodate large groups or someone could swim short laps. The fitness center was clean and fairly spacious by hotel standards. There is also a canal right next door, offering a natural path for walking/jogging or cycling. The beds were soft and comfortable enough, but after 10 nights, it was noticeable the mattresses are due for an upgrade. The rooms had enough space to unpack and spread out a little. In winter months, the balcony provides a nice sitting area. The hotel was quiet. We never heard other guests. There are though a few clubs across the street and you could hear faint, ambient music at night, especially on the weekends. It wasn't loud enough though to keep us from sleeping.
The Staff was helful and kind. The Pool was clean and stocked with towels. The Breakfast was delicious and well planned. The room was Quite and clean. The Value for cost and services renderer was appreciated .
Wife and I stayed here at a last minute whim using our BW Rewards. They treated us like VIPs. We were upgraded to a suite. It really is a Plus BestWestern. The included breakfast offered real plates, cups and silverware instead of paper plates and plastic ware. From check in to check out everyone was real friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay and we will be back!
Great room and stay. One small problem the jacuzzi in my room didn't work but the staff discounted the room for my troubles. I will definitely stay here again if and when I return to Scottsdale. It's close to everything and very comfortable.
This was a quick one day business trip, Nice hotel very different, Awesome Hotel, It's a unique indoor outdoor experience My wife had a great time. Very friendly front desk staff really nice I hope club
Great location, comfortable room, great friendly staff. We will definitely stay again. It was a great start to our vacation we came in late in the evening and could see lively activity blocks away. Found that walking distance to nice bars, clubs and restaurants. The room was very quiet and the breakfast was very nice the next morning. Nice quiet pool area.
1,000 people were at the Sousa Concert on Sunday and there was room for some more. Chairs were set up in rows. On Friday tables were set up with chairs on both sides probably another 1,000 plus people attended "Dancing with the Sun City Stars"
Very nice property. Good location to nightlife, upscale dining and shopping. Nice pool, hot tub, lobby and breakfast buffet. Updated rooms. Immature staff on evening duty is the only reason for my rating of only very good verse excellent.
Booked this hotel for Arizona Bike Week. Beautiful property, within walking distance of nightlife. Clean, comfy, surprisingly quiet considering it is located across the street from the major nightclub district. Very pleasant front desk staff on all shifts. We were assured Harley would be safe in the back lot by the pool; the night manager introduced us to the onsite night security and showed us the camera coverage. Breakfast was classic scrambled eggs ,bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy, and waffles (warm food), along with a great selection of muffins, cereals, and other bread, fruit, and dairy items. We would gladly stay here again!
I love my stay at the Best Western Sundail. the location was the best and everyone working there went out of the way to made me fell at home. Breakfast was very good and with a great selection. I would come back in the future.
BestWestern Plus Sundial, Scottsdale, AZ was a great place to stay and a great value! The rooms, lobby, breakfast area and pool were very clean, and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again!
We checked in late as we had locked ourselves out of our home. Hoping to get a good night sleep, we set our alarm for 11:30am to check out at noon. We were awoken by a call at 11:25am telling us we missed the 11am check out time and we needed to get out of the room as the hotel was busy. Very aggressive and rude call. I woke my wife and we started getting ready to leave the room. 5 minutes later, we hear a banging at the door and the same person, Dino Montelongo, came to tell us in again in a commanding and offensive manner to vacate the room and check out. I repeated that we thought that the checkout was noon and were never told of an 11am checkout, to which he responded, "it's in the contract!" I told him he should calm down and that we would be out shortly. 5 minutes later, we went to the front desk to check out (11:35am) and he had called the police and told them he wanted them to get me off of the property. Really?! In the span of 10 minutes, 35 minutes after the unknown checkout time, he had cops waiting for me! Wow Dino, you are on some type of power trip. Let me offer you and Best Western an alternative approach. Call at 11:25am and say, "Sorry to bother you, but you may not have known that the check out time at the hotel is 11am. Could you please check out as soon as possible?" We would have apologized and gotten ready to check out (we had no luggage). We would have enjoyed our stay and not had to leave this unfortunate review. Avoid this place and definitely avoid Dino Montelelongo, the manager!
What a disappointment, The man at the front desk was extremely rude, and then tried to make up for his bad behavior with obsequious kindness. UGH! The breakfast was mediocre, the TV remote barely worked and the staff was unable to recommend restaurants or give directions to place of interest. Furthermore, there is no restaurant or bar on the grounds of the hotel. With so many hotel choices in Scottsdale, you can do much better for the same cost. This place needs to try harder
Very convenient to Old Town fun and sights. Great breakfast and parking. Very helpful desk staff. We used Joyrides AZ for the quick 7 minute golf cart ride to the stadium. Will definitely stay here next time.
Stayed here for 5 nights. Room rate included breakfast which offered an excellent varriety of cooked and fresh food. Location was ideal for Scottsdale (5 minutes walk to mall and town). Room was comfortable and spacious enough with good sized bathroom and massive walk-in shower - We even had a mountain view! All the staff were friendly and helpful. The pool looked nice (but, as it was December, unused). Yes; the noise at night from the nearby entertainment district was audible in the room but after a hard day's sightseeing / shopping we managed to sleep without too much trouble. Only one slight reservation - there was direct access to all floors from the street via stairs at the end of each wing. Not that we felt unsafe in this neighbourhood but I think security could be improved if staiwells were gated with room card access.
Excellent location to the mall. Great restaurants within half a mile. Clean and updated room. Heated pool and spa. Excellent included breakfast. Friendly and accommodating staff. Easy access to main highway. Free parking
Was booked for 1 night on business but this stay fell during spring training and spring break so availability and rates across the city were tough. Found this hotel at a decent rate and was pleased with my stay. Sure my room was a bit dark and had no view but the welcome at check-in was great, the breakfast was good, the location is excellent and the room size was more than adequate for my needs. I had a good sleep, the property was quiet and finally a hotel with true HD TV channels with none of those outdated systems that try and get you to buy movies! Oh and they disinfect the remote which is a nice touch. I'd come back and stay again for sure.
My husband and I stayed at this Best Western Sundial for ten days in February, 2018, and had an excellent experience. They have reasonable rates (for the expensive Scottsdale area), and is very well located near Old Town Scottsdale, AZ. The free trolley that covers Old Town has a stop right in front of the hotel. The rooms are clean and well furnished, and they offer a very good complementary breakfast every morning with both hot and cold foods. There's a swimming pool, and laundry facilities. The staff here are beyond excellent - they are truly friendly, nice people! We especially enjoyed Jessica, the front office manager, and the owner, Jude, and his dog Daisy, who were on the premises every day. We have never stayed at a hotel where we met and talked to the owner every day! All of the daytime and evening front desk people were very helpful and efficient. We will definitely be staying here next year again. We highly recommend this property.
We recently spent 3 nights at this hotel during a recent visit. We found the hotel was in a convenient location and the staff did a great job. The room was big and comfortable. The complimentary breakfast was great! Good variety and good choices. The only two negatives were the location near the lively night life section of Scottsdale (noisy) and the odd louvered door to the private bathroom (also noisy). Beyond that, all was well. A tip for the noise. We found that the heating/AC unit controls were great! We found that we could set the temp and keep the fan on continuously to create some white noise. Very effective.
The rooms were clean and the showers were walk-in with shampoo/conditioner/body wash dispensers in them. Great if you are traveling with anyone elderly or mobility-challenged. The staff was friendly and helpful, free breakfast with plenty of options, close to Old Scottsdale shopping and restaurants - its a slam-dunk.
Excellent! We stayed here while visiting family in Scottsdale. The staff was courteous and friendly. The rooms were spacious and spotless. Excellent front desk service. Complimentary hot breakfast was delicious. Wonderful grounds and pool for relaxing! Very close walking distance to Old Town Scottsdale. Could not have asked for a better home away from home! Highly recommend! Thank you Jude!
The room, the pool, the breakfast were all great, but the friendly staff pushed it over the top. Our reservations were made at the last minute on a very busy weekend, and the staff went way beyond the call of duty to make sure we were comfortable and happy. And the rates were quite reasonable. Located close (walking distance or a short golf cart ride) to all the fun places in Old Scottsdale. A superb value. Will be staying again for certain.
This location is close to Old Town which offers a variety of stores, restaurants and entertainment. Also it is located within walking distance to Scottsdale Fashion Mall. The property is small and charming with a pool area and fitness room. There are only two floors to this hotel and most rooms on the second level have private balconies. Full breakfast is served daily and delivery service is available from local restaurants for lunch and dinner.
We came for a business trip and were very pleased with the employees and expierence. Walking distance to some great restaurants, shopping, entertainment. Property is well managed and maintained. Priced very well fir the area
I had a corporate event in the area, one of my co-workers recommended this hotel so we decided to try it. I am SO HAPPY we did. We stayed in the suite and it was beyond nice, we loved it, it was very comfortable, lots of room, and a fantastic balcony with a great view, the hot tub in the room was great too!! The location was close to our event and to all the fun spots. The staff was amazing and went out of their way to make sure we were happy and comfortable, and the breakfast was perfect!! We will definitely stay there again and will recommend to co-workers and anyone else we know. Thank you so much for everything!!
Great property with an even better location! This desirable Scottsdale location has a modern look & feel to the property with comfortable rooms. Just steps away from many fabulous restaurants & bars and short drive to Talking Stick casino.
Have stayed here many times before but this time the mattress really got my back sore. Not sure if the hotel change mattresses. Everything else was great. Front desk, room, hotel grounds was above par. Wish they had a room safe.
We stayed at this hotel 1 night on Christmas Day Staff was very kind and helpful. The front desk called around for second us we were trying to find resturants that were open on Christmas Day. The room with Jacuzzi tub was great and breakfast went beyond our expectations. We enjoyed out stay
Stay was great and the staff went out of their way to make my stay comfortable. Rooms are spacious, the breakfast is awesome, and the service was phenomenal. I appreciated all of the great advice on where to shop and extra curricular activities. Thank you!
This is a wonderful Best Western! The rooms are clean and the service is great. Dino at the front desk makes every guest feel welcomed every time. I will always use this hotel when I am in the area. Thank you!
Enjoyed my stay, great location and good staff. Would stay here again if I came to Scottsdale AZ. Unique decor by a local artist in the rooms, was here for a GM leadership conference and truly enjoyed the week!
Very helpful, friendly and nice staff. Dino, Jessica and Judd are the ones who's names I got to know. The rest of the staff very helpful and friendly as well. I stayed here in two different occasions in the last 14 days. The location is one block away from Scottsdale fashion square mall and 2 blocks away from an eating mile which is also the old Scottsdale downtown. Everything can be reached by foot. As another poster mentioned they take precautions so visitors of nearby venues do not occupy the hotel's parking space on Friday and Saturdays. Although it is a chain hotel, you are treated as if you are staying in a family run intimate place. Looking forward for my next stay in Scottsdale. Note: Although the doors are thick, there might be some distant sound coming in on Friday and Saturday nights from some venues a block away across the street. Nothing that ear plugs can't take care of though.
The Hotel was a nice place to stay. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. It's nice to see that the staff takes precaution to safeguard the parking lot. There are a few clubs in the area and they tend to use the parking lot. Speaking of clubs one night (Friday) we could hear low base but it stopped around midnight. Not a big deal for us. It's priced for the area and its architecture is about eight or nine years old. I am not a big fan of the 8” block interior architecture for room walls.
Nice place to stay. I was pleased to see that the Hotel took steps to safeguard parking on the weekends the clubs in the area tend to overflow and cars take up spaces in the hotel lot. Speaking of the local clubs, they could be heard in our room BUT at a very low level so this was not a big deal for us.
Like a fellow reviewer we have been visiting Scottsdale for 20+ years and stayed at a wide range of properties. We will certainly return to The Best Western Plus Sundial. The rooms are very clean and the beds incredibly comfortable. Wi-Fi is good and strong. The breakfast (included in the rate) is very good with four different hot dishes a day. The pool is a perfect temperature and there's also a Jacuzzi. The design of the hotel is very good but what really helps to set it up a notch are the staff. all of whom - day or night - were incredibly friendly and helpful. The hotel is just a few minutes walk to Fashion Square with great shopping and dining. Just a little longer takes you to the Old Town. Opposite the hotel is a good and cheap Mexican restaurant and just a block down to the left is a shopping square with a good supermarket and other amenities. The W hotel is close by. Highly recommend.
This hotel appears to be brand new. The grounds and room are very clean and the décor is right up to date. Breakfast was delicious along with the presentation. A very courteous and helpful staff exceeded our expectations. We highly recommend booking your next stay at the Sundial...
At first we were thinking where are we staying?? There is a very odd entrance for cars. We wanted to unload our baggage and they only had one small luggage cart. Cars were stacking up behind us as we had to make several trips to get our baggage to our room. People were honking for us to move but there really wasn't anyplace to move the car to. The man at the desk was so pleasant and helpful and had a smile for us each time we met during our 6 night stay. Wanted to make sure our dogs had water and did we need a snack. Our room was at the very end of the building on the 3rd floor. The room its self was very cool. But and there are plenty of buts. There were 2 sinks in the room. Odd. One was older maybe from a previous renovation. the other was quite modern. But no outlets for hair dryer etc. Had to use the other sinks outlets. The bathroom tho modern was strange. It had a lovered door making it uncomfortable to use the toliet, as you could hear any actions you were taking care of. The shower had a glass door but only 1/2 way across the entrance. So when you showered water was spraying all over the floor, walls, and door, water leaked into the room itself. I had to take the shower head off and use it as a hand held but still had water going everywhere. My husband really had a watery mess as he kept the shower head attached. Oh and since I am short I couldn't adjust the temp because you had to be entirely in the shower, I learned to get the shower head down first. The bed and pillows were fine. We had a King room and it had plenty of space for everything. We had paddle boards, dogs etc. Now for the night clubs as mentioned in someone elses review. Oh yes they were loud. and backed up street traffic. Noticed police present more than once. But our room was tucked into a corner so the noise didn't bother our sleep that much but you could hear the base sounds of the live music. Breakfast was excellent. They had bacon!!! Honestly even with our complaints we would stay there again. We would just ask for more towels to block the water from running under the door. We could walk to many resturants and to Fashion Square Mall and Old Town. We enjoyed walking to eat in the evenings and there were several places that were "fido friendly" In fact the Mall is dog friendly. Also I loved the Decor. We are huge fans of Frank LLoyd Wright, living in FLW style home. The hotel Decor is FLW. So bring ear plugs if your room is facing the night clubs, but enjoy this very cool hotel and a great looking swimming pool. The employees were very nice and very considerate.
Recently I have been under the weather and havent been able to travel. But I needed to visit my doctors office in downtown Scottsdale. And being i live over two hours away I need a place to stay for my appointments and the BEST WESTERN SUNDAIL came through for me with a great room last minutes. I had no reservations and Jessica and her great crew came through for me in a last minute effort to get a room.THANK YOU so much for making my stay as comfortable and pleasent as it was during this time not feeling a 100%. Good Job!!!!!
Late night party noise made it impossible to sleep. See earlier comments. Night club parties kept us up till the wee hours of the morning. 2 guys fighting outside our window at 2am. Way to much noise from the street next to the hotel. Will not recommend this hotel to anyone.
My wife and I stayed here while visiting my stepson for Thanksgiving. We arrived Thanksgiving day, and the young woman at the desk was very friendly and helpful. Our room was ready and we loaded our luggage and travel stuff onto the cart and headed to our room. Our two dogs (Cairn terriers) were fascinated with the glass elevator, a bit skeptical, but enjoyed the rides. Room was very clean and well appointed, and plenty of space for our two dogs' beds. Our only problem was the TV remote eye had fallen off the front of the TV, but the maintenance person remedied that in just a couple of minutes. Great place to stay, convenient to the old town area, Taliesen West, and all of central Scottsdale.
This hotel was really a gem that we found, the hotel and grounds are beautiful and it is very close to all Old Town Scottsdale has to offer. The staff were wonderful. Jude the General Manager was so willing to talk to us and give us great advice on things to see and do, and Travis also had great advice on places to eat. The rooms were clean and very comfortable. We will be back many time.
Stayed overnight while visiting family for Thanksgiving. Excellent location. Good clean hotel and complimentary breakfast was good. Parking is behind the hotel, but a short drive. However even for a late check in, plenty of parking.
Very uncomfortable beds..was stiff and sore next day. Pillows were flatter than flat. the traffic noise was terrible, may as well slept outside on a curb. and the club partying til 2am across the street made it impossible to sleep with all the bass and loud dj. Not worth the money.
I've been traveling to Scottsdale to see friends for many years. I was delighted to find a nice new place within walking distance of all the fun! Every member of the staff was kind and helpful. It's really nice, from the Frank Lloyd Wright inspired look to the cool block-walled guest rooms with window tint that makes it look like you are underwater; I don't really know what else you'd want...
"old Town" Scottsdale is a fantasy land where prices are outrageous and quality almost non-existent. This hotel fits right in. For those who enjoy paying high prices for poor service and somehow think that buys them something this is definitely the place to go! Why not stay a mile away and give the difference in price to some charity.
We had stayed at this Best Western Plus as part of a business trip that went into the weekend. The location was within walking distance to the Fashion Square Shopping complex, the Arizona Canal Train and Old Town Scottsdale. Restaurants were also within walking distance. Travis staffed the hotel desk and made sure that our stay was pleasant and enjoyable. We had a slight snag when the room attendant did not make up our room on Saturday. Travis went out of his way to bring clean linens up to the room for us. Great customer service, although the room attendant slipped up. Some of the reviewers stated that the local bars and clubs were loud at night. I agree that when we went outside it could be heard, but we were not disturbed in the least when inside of our room. The pool was very inviting and had a hot tub as well as a quaint cabana. The 3rd floor has a vista patio with comfy chairs and tables that overlooks a very nice courtyard. Complementary hot breakfast really helped on business mornings. When we had to catch our early morning flight before the breakfast serving time, Travis made sure that we had grab and go bags so we did not have to fly hungry. I will have to return to the Scottsdale area for business sometime in the future and will surely come back to the Best Western Plus Sundial.
The staff was the highlight of my stay at this property - yes, the room was spotless, very good amenities, great breakfast - but the staffers were awesome! Super helpful any time of day or night to accommodate the guests. Very appreciative of a call from front desk staff who arranged for a return of an item I forgot in the room upon check out.
The location of this hotel is prime! You can walk to so many restaurants and bars! Also walkable to Fashion Square! Room was very clean and enjoyable to stay in, also very spacious. Only gripe was our room faced the road and it's a heavy traffic road so it was loud at times and the bars are RIGHT by the hotel so we could hear them as well. All together it was an enjoyable stay and I will for sure be back
This Best Western was very clean. The staff were all very courteous, cordial and gave excellent service. We highly recommend this Best Western for a comfortable stay in Scottsdale, Az. There was adequate free parking which was helpful as this Best Western is located to a nice mall. The breakfast staff made us feel welcome and accommodated us with dairy-free selections.
Dino is the best! Friendly, welcoming, willing to go above and beyond for the guests and always smiling. I stayed there two separate weeks, one in August and another in October. When I arrived in October he remembered who I was and welcomed me back. He even opened the closed pool so I could soak in the hot tub. All the staff there are phenomenal people. The location could be better due to the loud noise from the clubs across the street but overall it's a great place. Will stay again if ever in the area!
This Best Western offers exceptional service, outstanding amenities and the best breakfast we've ever had! The staff was helpful and professional, and took extra steps to assure that our stay was terrific in every way.
I stayed here with 2 teenagers after a concert in the Entertainment District. It was less than a 5 minute walk to get to the location. Room is clean, shower is nice, manager is friendly, swimming pool looks inviting.
good value for money. Loved the location to Old Town Scottsdale. It was easy to walk to everything we wanted to do. The rooms were comfortable and the pool area was easy to access. Security also was good.
We visited some friends in Scottsdale, AZ and decided to stay at the Best Western Plus Sundial. It was our first visit to this property and we were pleasantly surprised that the overall experience was very similar to luxury hotels at a much higher price point. We would definitely recommend this location to anyone looking for a great hotel value. Thanks Best Western!
I travel quite a bit for business and have to say this was the best stay ever. The staff, Jessica Granadino went above and beyond to ensure my co workers from out of town had a great experience. I would highly recommend anyone to stay at this place. It is within walking distance to shopping, dining and exercise.
At first glance, the property looks nice. The rooms are clean and nicely decorated, Then, the front desk clerk who checked us in when we arrived, lied to us about why there was no microwave in the room. He told us there was a city ordinance against having microwaves in hotel rooms because it is a health and safety issue with guests using them for other purposes besides heating food in them. That is an outright lie, because there is no such ordinance in Scottsdale and the other Best Western Hotel in Scottsdale has them in every room. I will not stay here again and will advise others against it also. This hotel is a poor excuse for a Best Western Hotel, and for it to be rated as a Plus hotel is beyond belief. This is an older hotel that is on a small patch of property in the middle of a concrete jungle they call Downtown Scottsdale. There is a bar across the street that has loud music that penetrates the walls of the hotel rooms until the bars close after 2 am. The only restaurants near this hotel are locally owned unique eateries that may be good if you want to experiment with what you eat. It would be nice to have some chains nearby so you at least have a choice if you want it instead of having to drive several miles to get to one. The bathrooms are poorly designed with new tile and no closures on the shower, no door or curtain, so the shower splashes out onto the tile floor, creating a slip and fall hazard! And, there are no fans in the bathroom either. There is a Jacuzzi tub in the main part of the room that also splashes water on the floor when you use the massage feature in the tub. Also a slip and fall hazard. The bed in our room is saggy and caused a backache after sleeping on it. The A/C unit kept the room freezing all night long, so I turned it off. After taking showers in the morning, when I turned the A/C unit back on, it would only turn on the heat cycle, no matter how low temperature was set. There are no windows that can be opened either so, the only way to cool the room off at that point was to prop the door open with luggage.
If you stay in the suites be aware that there is a bar/night club in the local neighborhood that plays music very loudly until roughly 2:30 AM. We spend several nights this past week and the noise was an issue. The hotel and staff are excellent, the breakfast in the morning was excellent, there is just a noise issue with the music.
I have been staying in Scottsdale for almost 40 years I have stopped at the poshest and the average but this hotel is the best not the most expensive but everything is superb from the location decor housekeeping and the most amazing staff especially Jessica Dino and everyone thanks for making our stay so enjoyable if you want to see how to operate a successful hotel stay here already booked to return thank you all
The friendliest staff throughout I've ever encountered. Everybody was nice, the room was clean, and breakfast was super with fresh fruit, killer potatoes, and good eggs and other things. Staff were always cleaning and replenishing. Wonderful pool for evening relaxation. Great food nearby. I would definitely stay here again.
One night here after a busy day exploring Scotsdale and to get prepared for our road trip. This is a pretty nice place. Our room is huge with 2 queen beds. We are facing the street but it's very quiet. There is a pool out back but we won't be trying it. Breakfast from 6-930. Very close to Scotsdale Fashion Mall. You could walk. Lots of restaurants around. I'm not a fan of separating toilet and sink but they are nice size areas. The place is very clean. Would recommend staying here. Very nice reception area and polite staff.
I had a chance to book this hotel for a college reunion with dozen other friends. Hotel staff worked with me and was very helpful throughout the stay. Rooms are well appointed. Breakfast is good, but the sitting area for breakfast is limited. Pool area and spa is good, they can use little more shade in that area. Overall location very good near the bars and restaurants.
We have stayed at this property many times and have never been disappointed. The hotel itself is well appointed and well located with an excellent staff who are happy to assist in every way possible. We look forward to returning.
The entire experience was Great!!! Dino and staff went the extra mile to make sure we were taken care of! Specially Dino who treated us like KINGS!!! Thank you Best Western, and Thank you Dino For the great experience! Highly recommend this place to all those who are seeing this review!!! THIS IS JUST THE TYPICAL HOTEL FOR THOSE WHO ARE LOOKING FOR A NICE, CLEAN AND AFFORDABLE PLACE TO SPEND SOME QUIET TIME!
Our stay at this hotel was for leisure and it was very comfortable. Nice lobby, breakfast, and pool. There was a very nice little outdoor patio with a couple table and chairs for customers to use for games or eating, etc.
What a wounderful Best Western hotel this was staff so helpful and room was very clean.Air con was lovely as weather was so hot.coffee and tea available all night long breakfasts were very good at this particular hotel .very close to local mall and other amenities well done BW
This was the friendliest staff, the best hotel we have stayed in so far. we loved the clean room, the pool and the staff. We came to visit family and see the sights. The host told us about some sights to go to and she was right. The mountains were beautiful and the city Jerome was an old town on the side of the mountain. it was a sight to see.
I came from Chicago to visit my best friend I hadn't seen in 10 years. I was disappointed that being right across from a noisy club area the hotel was so strict with their guest policy (guest had to leave by 10pm) and quiet hours. I stayed here because I thought the hotel would be a little more forgiving of noise because of that. I felt like I should have stayed elsewhere. Also, my reservation was for a whirlpool suite which I did not get the first night and had to instead settle for a double queen room. Once I did get in the whirlpool suite at 1pm the next day, the controls did not work so we couldn't adjust anything. The toilet in the suite also backed up over and over again with just a normal amount of toilet paper.
Just outside of Phoenix but very close to the Scottsdale fashion mall. Great stay with nice rooms and outside pool. Very friendly staff and nice breakfast. Close to nice restaurants and bars. Would stay here again when in the neighbourhood. Stayed for two nights.
I have stayed at the Sundial twice and both times the staff was exceptional, always friendly but not intrusive. All of the employees seemed happy to be there. The breakfast was very good and the eating area was very clean.
I stayed here for 2 weeks and it was great. The hotel is very clean and well kept and the staff is wonderful. There is a great mexican restaurant across the street within walking distance. I will recommend anyone heading to that area to stay here.
Every Best Western we stay at is amazing. The staff is friendly, the rooms are clean and stocked. The complimentary breakfast is wonderful and a great value. We are signed up with the rewards program and we always get special perks when we check in. Sometimes our room is upgraded, sometimes we are greeted with bottled water and snacks at check-in. I really enjoy the quality of the sleep I get at every BW hotel.
Stayed here during a family road trip and we loved the location and amenities. Located across the street from the happening district and just minuets from Old Town. We loved night swimming in the outdoor pool and hanging out on our balcony on the warm summer nights.
Location was great. Walked to Downtown & the mall. Staff was friendly & helpful. I was warned about noise from the nearby nightclubs, but I didn't hear a thing. Room was clean and comfortable. Slept great. Breakfast was really good, never needed to stop for lunch. Will definitely return to this hotel.
Smallish hotel with good service. Reception personal very friendly and helpful. Rooms are typical 3-star plus fare. Breakfast standard US food - after two days you do not know what you can possibly eat... Pleasant pool. Good location. Overall not bad for the price indeed but it is not a luxurious 4 or 5-star hotel.
The staff at best western was out of this world. When we had questions or if we need something they were right there to help us, when we left they always said goodbye with a smile and always said hello and thank you with a smile
I traveled for business and brought my boyfriend and kids. Really enjoyed our time and the staff was great. Breakfast ladies did a great job and super friendly and our room was cleaned everyday by friendly ladies!! Thank yall so much for a great stay!
Great staff - each and everyone of them - and large comfortable room made this a little oasis of calm after a long drive. Conveniently located in the Scottsdale entertainment district, but close to the east edge for visiting the desert (we took a drive to Apache Junction and Tortilla Flat) this hotel offers a great place to recharge. Just for the staff service alone this gets 5/5.
Hotel was clean and very close like 2 -5min walking distance to the entertainment district of bars, restaurants and the fashion square mall. Staff is courteous and super friendly. My room had a hot tub nd comfy bed. Only thing missing was a safe and the room doors are located outside in the balcony type style. Other than that, excellent hotell !
The location of the hotel is great as it is across the street from the entertainment district and within walking distant from the mall and restaurants. The staff was always friendly during my stay greeting us as we entered and exited the hotel. The rooms themselves were a little cramped but the rooms have balconies. The swimming pool was a good size and the perfect temperature and there's an onsite parking garage unlike the W Scottsdale. Although the location is great if you are looking for a completely noiseless experience you might want to request a room away from the main road (camelback road) as you can hear the blaring music from the bars and clubs of the entertainment district.
The girl at Ck and Ck out was the best we have ever had in all the times we have stayed at a best western . The room was clean, and roomy . Hot tubin room made it nice, pool was great. Breakfast was a little different then the best westerns we have stayed at, and we liked that very much. They had plates and silverware, Not paper plates, and plastic. Walking to shopping and dining . Will be back next week.
If you are ever in Scottsdale , Arizona Sundial Best Western is definitely the place you would want to stay. I was immediately greeted with a warm smile by Dino upon arrival. I was within walking distance from the shopping mall and several other restaurants and bars. The room was very modern yet inviting the pool was the perfect temperature and the WIFI speed was great. this hotel is a great place to travel to on business , leisure or just to vacate I will definitely be returning.
although it was between 110-120 degrees everything was awesome. Nothing to complain about in the guest room. I even had a Jacuzzi which was great. The staff were amazing .The breakfast was good could have changed the items a bit I was there 8 days. Always saw the groundskeeper watering the grounds .
Had a good experience, and had to stay over checkout time due to a cancelled flight. Staff were very accommodating. Good Location in the heart of Scottsdale Old Town. On Saturday night it was in the heart of the club scene, but we didn't have any noise issues.
Has all the amenities that you would find with all luxury brands in the area, but with a very down to earth , low key setting. Would highly recommend it for business and leisure.walking distance to shops, restaurants and bars!
Great location, extremely friendly staff! Bed a little soft and maybe needs changed but everything else was very good! Was able to walk to many bars and restaurants and shopping ( when it wasn't 120 degrees). The golf cart cabs are great also. So easy and quick for the area.
Very friendly and helpful staff and excellent, well-appointed rooms in a location central to all Scottsdale has to offer. Also, very tasty breakfasts! Due to moving to the area, I had to extend my stay for several additional days and was very happy to be in such a pleasant and convenient place.
The staff we encountered at Sundial were above and beyond in efforts given to ensure out stay was perfect in every way, which included helping out with our laundry late at night, Enthusiasm was contagious as each member of the BW staff showed the same high level of courtesy and responsiveness. Mr Juden and Dino stand out as the leaders who modeled the highest standards in customer service. Well Done.
We love this hotel and have had pleasant stays before this. We schedule business trips here twice a year at minimum. We arrived on 6-21-17 in the middle of an epic heat wave. Our car temp gauge read 118 degrees at 6:30 pm (when we arrived). We were informed that the pool closed at 8:00 pm. It is now 9:15 pm. We've just been to dinner and would love to go for a refreshing dip, but the gate to the pool is literally chained shut! (It is currently 108 degrees). We routinely frequent the Best Western brand. Honestly, I cannot fathom the logic of providing a pool that can't be used IN ARIZONA. We will certainly reconsider any future stays. Hopefully, Sundial will consider this as well!
Our room (#109) was very spacious and comfortable. We did not hear the night clubs while in our room; only when we stepped out. We used the laundry facilities, which were quick and easy. The room has a jacuzzi tub and separate shower. The amenities were wall dispensers, which is so convenient. We really were very comfortable here and would stay again! Dino at the front desk was soooo helpful with recommending restaurants and getting us a golf cart driver to take us to Old Town (which was walkable later in the evening when it cooled down a bit). Thanks, Dino! We had the best meal on our trip at Olive and Ivy (see my review on that).
Absolutely amazing rooms, staff, amenities and breakfast. However this hotel is located directly across the street from the nightclub The Mint. Excessively loud club music every night until 2am. It's unfortunate that I won't be staying here again because the place is great just a terrible location if you go to sleep prior to 2am
Clean place with a good breakfast and a great location - if you want to go to the W, which is across the street. Do not expect any sleep as the drag racing traffic and DJ beats go well into the night and can't be drowned out by the tv & A/C fan.
The pool was ideal for me because I am in a wheelchair and it was accommodating for me because of my handicap which made it easy and relaxing for me to "walk" around in the pool ! Sunday was chill even for Scottsdale I was not wanting loud music or a party scene and we did not get one thank goodness.... The room was very accommodating and clean the jacuzzi was spot on working on all cylinders, the staff was speaking to us like we were friends which was pleasant. Not sure how ugh more I can write I only stayed one night however my stay was awesome and I will stay there many more times.
We do quite a bit of staycations and by far this is one of the best ones, clean rooms, quiet, beautiful and the staff is so friendly and kind! We were upgraded to a room with a Whirlpool because the guy was happy we were celebrating our anniversary there.
In one word; Excellent! The location and value served us well. I will recommend this hotel for anyone looking for central location in Scottsdale; close to shopping, business and relax by the pool. Professional and Courteous Management.
So close to fashion fair, restaurants, bars that you can walk. Clean, comfy, polite nice staff. Good breakfast included but don't walk in at the end or you'll miss out. They pack away really quickly. We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 nights there and would return
Lucky find in the middle of Fashion Square. Walking distance to fine shopping, dining, and entertainment. You will not be disappointed to stay here. Ultra clean, decent breakfast, super friendly staff.
The staff and amenities are great. Beds are super comfy and very clean place. Just a warning that venues across the street can be loud on weekends! The loyalty program is excellent! The location is great. Walking distance to many shops and restaurants. Julio's across the street was a great place to eat.
Loved this hotel. Everyone at the hotel is very nice and caring and the property is very clean, and well kept. Thanks for having me at your hotel. I felt like I was home while staying at this hotel. Thanks again
Had a great stay at this hotel. Staff was wonderful and everything was clean and in working order. Conveniently located within walking distance of many shops, bars and restaurants. Perfect place to stay.
Toilet kept running, maid kept unlocking sliding glass door, AC broken, Friday & Saturday: Very loud Noise from 9pm - 3am. Major Night Club area across the street! Unbelievable how loud, you could even hear voices in room- doors closed could not sleep! Desk offered ear plugs, they are aware of how bad it is! Earplugs did not work!! Terrible place to stay!!!!
Dino is excellent , you will not be disatisfied!! I stay in hotels over 30 times during a year! Lots of nice people and cleaniness. They go way over the extra mile! First time I've been there and YES I willl return! It is walking distance to Old Town Scottsdale very nice setting.
One of the Best BEST Westerns out there. Not only do the rooms feel like Luxury, the amenities are great. On top of that, if you are heading to the Scottsdale AZ area it is PRIME location. Right across the street from Old Town. You can walk to everything!
We stayed 4 nights two double beds ,mattresses could use a replace , the clubs are close and a bit noisy if the air conditionings not on , just take ear plugs , great size hotel , great breakfast , great staff clean rooms , pool was very quiet , good parking ,short walk to restaurants and mall , and clubs , I would try again it's a great value we usually stay in a more high end hotel but it's so close to everything .
Great location next to Fashion Square Mall and convenient to Old Scottsdale. Older facility but very well maintained and very well run. One of the nicer inclusive breakfast buffets with a larger selection than most.
Let me start by saying I typically stay at Hilton associated hotels only. This trip had me staying at a Best Western due to their fair prices and great location in Scottsdale. My room was massive! It was nicer than many Hilton branded rooms I've been in. Others said noise was an issue but I disagree... it wasn't that loud. I only stayed one night so I didn't get a chance to use any of the facilities like the pool. The front desk personal who checked me in, I believe the assistant manager, was very pleasant. All staff encountered were professional. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
great hotel and staff. very helpful and courteous. good location to old town and grocery store within walking distance. nice pool to sit by. breakfast was very adequate. took longer to airport than was advised. overall good visit.
I would give this a 4 1/2 if I could. It is almost a boutique inn with the best front desk. Rooms are spacious and it's convenient to shopping and restaurants/bars. The only downside is that it gets noisy across the street at nights on weekends, so ask for the quietest room available.
I can't say enough nice things about the hotel staff. From check-in to check-out every staff member was friendly and accommodating. The room was comfortable, clean and spacious. The location was within walking distance or a short drive to restaurants, bars and shopping. It WAS noisy, but the excellent staff warrants an "excellent" review despite that issue.
Have stayed at this BW hotel many times. Know my way around town from this central location. Have enjoyed my Time there every time except once when reservations didn't get my reservation right. Enjoy the staff.
We were just for one night but it was a great choice, the bed is comfortable, the location is perfect five minutes walk from downtown and bars and restaurants and you don't hear the noise though aircondition is very noisy. Breakfast is very good and with lots of choises
The front staff very courteous even though he was very tired because he had to work since 5am and at that time was 10pm. He was even training new staff and taking care of other customers without loosing his good manners. Great customer service and great price as well.
A little different for a Best Western.Different decor and layout, a nice change. Very well maintained with a very attentive staff. For the Scottsdale area very moderately price. Yes there are some very noisy clubs nearby, but turning on the a/c took care of that problem. I would highly recommended it!
The accommodations were clean, modern and comfortable and located in walking distance to shops and restaurants. But be aware that is also in close proximity to bars and clubs. I read about noise complaints in other reviews, but didn't think it would be that bad; it was pretty bad! All night long, it sounded like people were partying right outside my door. The obnoxious yelling and One Dance by Drake didn't stop until early morning. I feel bad for the staff because they don't have any control over the volume but if you're like me and just need a place to get some quality sleep, I'd suggest going somewhere else. Otherwise, this place is alright.
Will stay here everytime we visit our son in Arizona! Beautiful area within walking distance of shopping both directions. Only downside, maybe for some people, no microwave in the room. Staff is wonderful!
No coments, average stay to say the list, this hotel change prices, its double expensive during winter time, but they not offer nothing extra, very disappointed about that, for this amount of money I could stay in a better hotel, next time I know and I will definitely would NOT stay at this hotel, cheep breakfast options
The staff is friendly and helpful and the rooms are clean. We had a slight emergency and needed to check in early. It was no problem and the girl was very gracious about it. But the best of all is that we can have our dog with us!
I was here in October for an extended weekend with my hubby. I hadn't been to the Phoenix/Scottsdale area and had no idea what to expect re locale or location. As it turns out, this hotel is ideally located close to the Fashion Square Mall, Old Town Scottsdale, and the Entertainment district. We were greeted by Dino when we checked in and he was outstanding - he was so pleasant - he literally said to us " when you are here - this is your home if there is anything you need just let us know" great first impression. He was always very friendly and always went out of his way to help us. The hotel itself offers pretty much everything you need for a comfortable nights stay a reasonable price point. Free Wifi ( strong too ) free breakfast - hot and cold items, which was nice, a fitness room - with great equipment, ( including a fridge in there with free bottled water), and a pool with cabanas. Our room was located on the first floor and faced towards the parking lot - so subsequently we kept our shutters closed or we wouldn't have had the privacy we wanted, but that wasn't the problem of the hotel - we probably should have asked to move as soon as we checked in, but it really wasn't a big deal. The bed was really comfortable and the shower was nice. One thing there that I have never seen at any other hotel was that the shampoo, conditioner, and soap was on the wall in a pump dispenser. I actually thought it was kind of cool. From an environmental point of view, it's better, and you could easily dispense what you wanted. It definitely gave it a more budget feel, but it also made more sense. Some people have commented on the noise from the entertainment district across the road - and yes -its true -its crazy how loud it can be - a deep thumping bass.. but we found if the AC is on you didn't really hear it and we were facing the road, but I would imagine all you need to do is request a room near the back and you would be fine. All in all this hotel is a great property in terms of service, value for dollar and location in Scottsdale.
Overall this hotel is fine. The staff were very helpful, the breakfast is great, and the location is great aside from some night club noise at night across the street. If you need privacy for your bathroom and have more than one person in the room you may want to stay elsewhere as the bathroom door is a slat closet door and you hear everything. If you are staying by yourself or with a spouse then it is fine.
Adequate hotel. Unfortunately the hot tub / sauna was broken when we were there. Also the air conditioning was challenging and once figured out, quite noisy. Bathroom door is slatted wood. Some may have a problem with that. Great location for restaurants and bars. About a half hour drive to the airport.
Overall everything was solid. For the price, you really cant beat it and they could easily charge 2x for the night. Literally across the street from Old Town and the W Hotel. The rooms we nice, got a little loud since you were so close to Old Town, but thats the scene. Would stay there again.
Stayed here 4 days for business recently and really enjoyed it. My room was large, furnishings were modern and clean, bed was comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful; free breakfast was better than most. It is located within easy walking distance of many restaurants, bars and shops. An excellent value. I would definitely stay here again!
The hotel exterior and grounds are excellent and attractive and I thought it would be more expensive than it actually was. The lobby has high ceiling and is interesting as people are coming and going in that area a lot.We used the fitness room each morning and would like to have had more time to use all the position on the one machine as there is a lot of positions and exercises you can do on this machine. This hotel has a nice breakfast area and a great breakfast and a couple of mornings we had coffee and a bite out beside the pool. Great location to all things in downtown Scottsdale
Two friends from college decided to celebrate our 60th birthdays in Scottsdale for three days (Oct. 19-21) without our husbands. We did not care to go shopping or see a lot of sights. We just wanted to relax in and by a pool in the AZ sunshine. We picked out the BW Plus Sundial from their website. We were well aware from the web site that their outdoor hot tub was closed, and that was fine, because the site also said "Enjoy a large heated swimming pool..." That was just what we wanted, a nice heated pool and close to Old Town for dinner. As soon as we got to the hotel in the afternoon from the airport, we headed to the pool. The pool was cold, even though the outside air temperature was well over 90 degrees. So we relaxed in the chairs by the pool the first evening. The next day around noon we again headed for the pool, thinking it would be warmer. The pool was still cold, but the early afternoon sun made it tolerable once you had been in the pool for a while, so we mostly sat in the chairs but got in the pool at times to cool off, then back out to warm up. I reported to the staff at the hotel that the pool did not seem to be heated and was very cold. I was told they would leave a note for the manager, and that they had not been told before that it was cold. The next morning we again inquired why the pool was so cold, and we were again told they had left a note for the manager, and we were not given any direct answer when we asked as to whether the heater was broken or what the problem was. With only one day remaining of our trip, we sought out the manager of a longer-term rental unit where my husband and I vacation in the wintertime. The manager told us their pool was indeed heated and warm, and we were welcome to use it. So we spent that day at a very comfortable pool away from the BW Sundial! After returning to the BW late that afternoon, we again inquired about the cold temps of their pool, and again we were not given a definite answer of why, but were told there were a lot of fluctuations in air temperature lately. The air temperature the days we were there had a high of 95 each day! I told the desk clerk that I felt we deserved some kind of discount on our room for the pool not being heated. He assured me, once again, that he would leave a note for the manger, and then tried every diversion to change the subject and offer directions to the airport, a sack lunch for early in the morning, etc. While those offers were nice gestures, we were very disappointed at not having a heated pool to relax for the two full days of our vacation. The BW Sundial also had a sign that their pool was open until late at night (maybe midnight). There was no way we could have stood to be in that cold water in the evenings when the sun had gone down, so spending time at the pool in the evenings did not happen during our three nights there, even though the air temp still hovered around 90 in the evenings. I never did have any response from management at the Sundial. I could just as well have been at a lower-priced hotel with no pool. So the next time I am in Scottsdale for a short stay, I will be patronizing a different hotel that listens to their customers and provides the advertised services. .
Hotel is spectacular in every way...we really enjoyed our stay and we will return again and again. And we plan to share our experiences there with our Family and Friends. We did not want to leave. A real treasure in Scottsdale, what a find!
Best western plus sun dial in Scottsdale, az was decent in appearance the parking lot is so tiny and only one car per room is permitted. However, the staff-specifically "Dino" was unacceptable. He absolutely ruined what was supposed to be a night to remember for a bride to be. We were not drunk. We were not loud. There was a total of 13 of us and when we walked in the lobby coming from dinner, he immediately started reprimanding us for being there. I had bought 2 rooms and he said only 4 people per room- no guests can visit in your room. I tried to explain that they would not be staying, we just wanted to open gifts and have cake... while I was saying this he was talking over me and at me so I could not speak. I finally got in, "may we use this common area to open gifts and eat cake?" He said fine so I went upstairs to grab the presents and cake, on my way up one of the girls called me because he changed his mind. I came back down and he said he changed his mind and we needed to leave immediately or he would call the cops. I tried to ask why the change of mind but he again started talking over me. The bride asked, "Sir, may we speak with you without you interrupting?" and he said no. We asked to speak to a manager and he said he was the manager (his name tag said guest services). He then said we had 20 minutes to retrieve our things and leave. Again, we had not been drinking, we were respectful, and this was recorded on their surveillance video and I extremely hope it is reviewed! We were not a group of young 20 somethings. Half of us are moms, with a median age of 30. I had been planning this night for the past 6 months. I was in tears. The bride was in tears. It was an awful, awful experience. Some of the worst customer service I've ever had. I hate confrontation. I hate causing a scene. I've never done a review before, but I am so upset. Luckily, we explained our situation to Valley Ho and we got an amazing deal on their penthouse suite. Their customer service and just basic human social skills and compassion are outstanding. Highly, highly recommend them. Also, while figuring out this ordeal- the restaurant where we had dinner (Bootleggers American Smokehouse) took our group back in and let us bring in cake and open gifts and gave us all complimentary moonshine. This is how adults treat one another. This is how businesses thrive. Superior customer service and understanding. Dana and the staff at Bootleggers really saved the night and we are so greatful. None of us will ever be staying at a Best Western and we will be writing letters to this corporate office; as well as, finding every review site possible to spread the word. Dino should not be in this business and Best Western should be avoided unless you are looking to be scolded and treated like children... no not children, treated like inferior human beings. Oh! And after leaving the lobby and deciding our next course of action, another guest walked in to check in. We watched Dino through the doors point at us and use vigorous hand motions while speaking to the guests that were checking in. Extremely unprofessional and uncalled for. We left and obeyed his command, and he still felt the need to speak with other GUESTS about the situation.
Excellent stay, great and friendly staff. FD gave us good suggestions on things to do around the area. Rooms are big and very clean. Area was also very good. I wouldn't stay at any other hotel in Phoenix. This is my 2nd time here and will definitely come back.
The location in Scottsdale very near the fashion mall was great. Samuel at the front desk gave a great first impression with his friendliness and helpfulness. The rooms are basic but renovated with a modern flare. The pool was very nice. Also, rooms were very quiet and windows tinted so rooms not too bright. We faced away from sunrise so morning light wasn't a problem.
Unless you are a sound sleeper, the entertainment district that is located directly across the street will keep you up. The bars are so loud, it feels as if the music is inside your room and this goes on until around 3am.
Updated hotel, clean and comfy rooms. Nicely remodeled. Breakfast was efficient, self-serve and very good (and free). My only complaints are the internet barely worked (only on my phone and not on iPad) and the A/C is intolerably loud...very difficult to sleep with the noise.
This was our second stay at this hotel, the first was in early 2010 and we had a nice stay back then, so came back. This time we still liked the spaciousness of the king bed room, the cleanliness, and the good amenities and furnishings in the room. However the bed and all pillows were very lumpy. Luckily we were only spending one night. The room was quiet and the AC system functioned well but the bedding made for an uncomfortable sleep. Amazingly we were given the exact same room as we had in 2010 - the bed was very comfortable back then but probably a lot newer too. The room has a small refrigerator and coffee maker, hair dryer, etc. If you're staying long enough to unpack, the closet is spacious and well lit. Breakfast was just okay, not nearly as good as other BW Plus hotels. Small selection, overcooked oatmeal and some of the fruit was rotten, had to pick through several apples to find a decent one, found an okay banana though. The only coffee they served was Starbucks Verona which is too strong for our tastes. The breakfast area is very small so has very few tables. We were there early but saw several people arrive for breakfast after us and there were no tables available so they had to sit in the lobby to eat. On the plus side, the staff is very friendly and helpful. The people at the front desk at both check in and out were great. Also a good location, very close to a number of good restaurants and a shopping mall.
We've stayed a total of 32 nights at the BW Sundial since 2012 on our annual vacation. We waited until now to write this review because several staff members are so wonderful. However, the incidents of bad management have simply added up year after year until we now feel the need to warn other travelers: [1] As "platinum" BW Rewards members, we earned a "free night" last year and were guaranteed there would be no problem upon check in. On night #8, we were LOCKED OUT of our room! The female assistant manager refused to help us and insisted we'd have to contact BW Rewards to get back into our room. This, after staying 32 nights over 5 consecutive years. [2] The Sundial's wonderful breakfast supervisor always made sure the food was fantastic. Halfway into our 8 nights last year, we each noticed we'd gained weight. It turned out the management changed their "signature" Breakfast Burrito entree. Instead of equal amounts of egg, turkey sausage, and potatoes, it was now 90% potatoes - no wonder we felt bloated! [3] The general manager's dog wanders the lobby and grounds unleashed. Once, the dog was even swimming in the guest swimming pool. I questioned Jude (GM) about it and he said, "People carry much more bacteria than dogs." [4] As others have said, choose another hotel if you need to sleep at night. Zero noise regulations are enforced in the Scottsdale "entertainment district" (bars) one block away. You won't believe how loud it is until you've actually experienced it. Not only that, the Sundial has now become "party central" for visitors to the bars so the racket continues all night from hotel guest's audio equipment attached to smart phones/iPads, etc. We've booked 8 nights in Scottsdale again for 2017, but in a well-managed hotel.
The rooms were very clean with a ideal location in the heart of Scottsdale. The staff was extremely helpful polite during our stay. Our family enjoyed the breakfast and the pool on the hot summer days. We will be back next time in AZ.
While ih the Phoenix region, we always choose this BW + "Sundial" hotel in Scottsdale. It's a very nice hotel, just perfect to feel "at home". It is attractive, inside and outside. One of the best bathrooms, if not the best hotel all over America, with a flexible shower, Italian style and very clean. The staff is helpful and competent. And what a nice and clean swimming pool ! Absolutely perfect !
Anyone booking should be aware that the rooms here - every room, we asked - have bathroom doors that are shutters. They are open. You can see through them, smell through them and hear through them. Going to the bathroom? Everyone else in the room will experience that with you. Please don't stay here with anyone you aren't VERY comfortable with.
This hotel is new and clean and location is right near the Fashion square mall in Scottsdale. 20min to the airport too. Breakfast is well prepared, presented and taste was very good. However, the bed is extremely hard like other reviewers says. I am not the light sleeper but I woke up like every hours because too painful of my back during the sleep. They might need bed topper or change bed something.
This is a very nice hotel! I stay here whenever I need to be in the Scottsdale area. It is close to Old Town, numerous restaurants and bars and a block or two away from Fashion Square. Great location, great rooms, great service!
Rooms are very clean and the staff are lovey. Breakfast was good and had something different everyday. The pool looked nice but Unfortunately we were unable to use it, as it was closed due to some Debris that had fallen into it from the storm the night before we arrived, but the Aloft hotel across the road kindly let us use their pool for a few days. Old town and Fashion square mall are only a 10 minute walk away, and there's a free shuttle that stops right outside the hotel that will also take you there. Would defiantly come back to this hotel if we were in Scottsdale again .
Great Staff, very clean and great location. Stayed here for business and pleasure.Impressed with the quick and friendly front desk staff. Room very clean, comfortable beds and very clean bathrooms. Pool area was very clean and well kept up.
The trip was a family visit and the Hotel was located in the perfect spot in Old Town Scottsdale - the staff was great - the breakfast was spot on - the room size was adequate - could have been a little larger and a bathtub would have been nice - but overall a satisfying experience.
Love this Hotel! Excellent location near Fashion Square, restaurants, and nightclubs. Easy access to freeways, with many additional attractions nearby. Pool area is fabulous with lots of loungers, umbrella tables, a gazebo sitting area, and plenty of towels. King room was great, very comfy bed, wonderful in-suite Jacuzzi, walk-in shower and mini-fridge. Excellent breakfast included daily. Staff are extremely helpful and friendly, making sure every need is met. The entire property is immaculate!! Will definitely visit again.
Stayed here for 3 nights with my daughter and her three children--ages 14-7. The room was small, but we didn't go to Arizona to stay in our room. Breakfast was great, the kiddos were able to find something different to eat every morning. The kids used the pool and loved it, yes, there isn't much of outdoor amenities, but once again--we weren't in Arizona to stay at the hotel. Will stay here again when visiting family that lives in Scottsdale.
great location, very short walk to old town, fashion square, and many other of best spots in Scottsdale. very friendly, accommodating staff. staff constantly cleaning, place was immaculate. Very quiet and comfy in the room.
Heart of Old Town Scottsdale. Great Breakfast and large rooms. Enjoyed staying here. Parking is in the back. Did not hear noise from road. So ask for a room that faces the back. Lots to do in Scottsdale. Shopping, places to eat. etc.
If you want friendly, clean, close to stores and beautiful views then this is the hotel for you! Our family just stayed at the hotel and went on various adventures with the help and guidance of the front desk staff! They were helpful and were able to help guide my family to different activities and restaurants. The breakfast is the perfect variety of hot and cold breakfast items to help what ever mood you are in. The pool area is a perfect way to spend your day. We ate breakfast at the pool on a daily basis in the cabana. The rooms are spacious with large balconies along with coffee pots in the room. The room is sound proof...with young children I did not hear doors slamming or outdoor noise which was a bonus for us! I highly recommend this hotel for all your family needs!
We needed a place to stay before leaving in the morning to the Grand Canyon & stayed at the B.W. Sundial in Scottsdale AZ. The property is great for a night's stay where you can be sure you will be greeted well, Have a clean room & a comfortable bed for many times the same cost of a regular hotel room. The property has a pool & hot tub outside which we did not use as it was just a stopover place before beginning our vacation. The B.W. has a great breakfast setup in the morning from 7-10AM with fresh fruit, Yogurt, Cereal, Muffins, Eggs, coffee, Tea & make your own waffles. There is a small area if you need to use a computer or use the free wi-fi in your room. The room is good size & has a large soaking tub in it as well as stand up shower. The room was super clean & comfortable. Also a thanks needs to go out to Sue or Sandra? (not sure) at the front desk who called ahead to the B.W. Sedona Arroyo Roble to set up a room for us to stay in Sedona. The customer service stands out & Best Western has really shined with the B.W., B.W. Plus & B.W. Premier properties.
??Great location:food places, short drive to golf courses, stores,(nightclubs right across the street)-for the younger crowd. If you want quick tasty bite- (reccommend mexican restaurant right across street, cute small place eat in or take out- great service, friendly staff, food, very reasonable price.????????????)??Room has a great lay out-corner sky suite 3rd floor;clean, spacious, little fridge, nice size drawers & closet great lay out, private patio, comfy bed, separate large sink from shower/toilet,separate tv room.Nice pool outside if you like a toasty july swim?? though has a cabana sit & relax.??,couple hotel parking lots entrance of hotel, very clean & well kept facility.?? Friendly helpful, hardworking hotel staff??However wii fii intermittent, very basic cable,no microwave, quirky shower set up - has only half door which water sprays out quite a bit if not careful??(but I am sure it's a easy fixer upper??)??Overall I give this hotel high score because it makes up in other ways??Always amazing visit to Scottsdale every year but this one was by far most memorable??Thanks to entire staff at Sundial Best Western Plus??See Yeah next year ??The Grants,Calgary AB ????????????
We had a great experience in a nice room (#104) with a king bed and a corner-of-the-room whirlpool bath. The ceilings and doors are tall, the walls are cement block, very quiet and secure. The walk-in shower was generously-sized and the vanity was black granite. The bed was comfortable, the cooling system was modern and the TV well-positioned and sized to the large room. Very happy with the free breakfast with hot and cold items, Starbucks Coffee, free wifi, free parking and proximity to the nicer part of the greater Phoenix area. We'd gladly stay there again!
Very nice property. Pleasant, professional staff. Porches or balcony for each room (no view though). Clean, everything works, air conditioner on digital thermostat is accurate + or - 1 degree. And it is fairly quiet. Walk in shower. Breakfast was good but not as extensive a selection as some BW's. Summer time pricing here is very inexpensive. I suspect rates soar in the winter.
My wife & I really enjoyed our stay at BW Sundial in Scottsdale, AZ. We have stayed here before and always had a good experience. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Staff were helpful and friendly. Room rates were reasonable and priced fairly. We were 1 block from the large shopping mall and the Old Town attractions. There were good restaurants nearby, so I would say it was great.
The Best Western Plus Sundial in Scottsdale, Arizona offered me a truly exceptional experience! The desk staff was very helpful and accommodating, allowing me to check-in early to prepare for an appointment following a long drive. The room was well-priced, quiet and comfortable. I appreciated the on-site parking in the rear of the property and was impressed by the grounds and exterior appearance of the hotel. Breakfast was truly wonderful - fresh and complete with eggs, sausage, fruit, rolls, excellent coffee and all in a lovely breakfast nook! Next time I visit Scottsdale for leisure, I'll choose Best Western Plus Sundial to more fully enjoy the pool and hot tub with some extra time!
Great location and the rooms were clean and modern. All of the staff I encountered was friendly and helpful. This hotel sits within walking distance of a mall and several great restaurants. I highly recommend this hotel!
We were a family of 4 on vacation.( two teens with Grandma). Traveled on may 20-23 Location : Hotel located steps away from Entertainment district, literally across the road from 8 clubs. On Friday , Saturday music until 2am, very loud , can't sleep. It is near the Fashion Square, 500 m. Lost of restaurants around. Go toward the Fashion square( to the right from hotel). There lots of very nice restaurants with nice views and nice sitting area. Room: major problem is A/C. It is very loud with very strong airflow. I could not sleep with A/C on , the air was blowing into my face too much. Had to turn it off. A/C was so loud that I could hear A/C working in the room next to ours. The room was too small for 4 people. Bed was too soft for me. We didn't have good sleep at all. Room has private balcony which is very nice. NO bath tub. Wifi was fast ( free.) Pool: is outside and very nice . It was warm and good size. Jacuzzi was out of the service when were there. Pool is open till 11pm or even midnight, which is great. We had night swim, it was awesome. Breakfast: is ok. Boiled eggs, muffins, yogurts, coffee. Service: excellent. People at the counter sincerely happy to help you out and answer all your questions and give you advice. There is computer with printer to use in the lobby if you need it. I don't think so I will be back to this hotel. For the price of what we paid I could find something better.
Very clean, well maintained, contemporary decor. Plenty of space inside the room, GIANT jacuzzi tub. Did not use the pool but it looked nice. Conveniently located with lots of dining and shopping options nearby. Would definitely look for other BW Plus properties in my limited travels.
my inlaws booked this for my daughters ASU graduation trip. Never even noticed it before the POOL is like a small resort complete with cabana house. The rooms are very funky and contemporary NOT what u would expect from a best western and for a good rate. Very very nice.
I have a friend who lives in the neighborhood adjoining this hotel's location. The location is one of the prime late-night dance club spots in Scottsdale, so on Fri/Sat night you can hear the bass beat of music from clubs across the other side of Camelback Rd. However, it's a faint noise that can really only be heard outside the door of your room or just standing right inside your door. The doors all open to outdoor walkway/balcony corridors so there is slight traffic noise when your door is open or standing outside, however the doors are super heavy and solid which helped with the noise I think and made me feel very secure considering the proximity to a main street. The hotel staff was exceptional, pleasant, helpful and the continental breakfast food/drink and breakfast area very nice and welcoming. The pool/hot-tub area is also very nice/serene as you hang under some great palm trees and have views of camelback mountain. It seemed upon arrival Friday night that many guests were dressed up and heading over to the clubs across the street, but only Sat night did I briefly hear a 2am returning group that sounded like they'd had a good time - but once inside their room no more noise could be heard. In fact my only noise complaint at all was Monday morning when a family in the room above us made a ton of noise at 4:30-5:30am when they were packing up and leaving the hotel. C'mon ppl if you have a 6:30am flight, pack up the night before and plan your exit ahead of time so that every minor detail of the morning doesn't need to be discussed as you stomp in and out of the room 50 times (with that heavy door slamming closed each time) - you're in a hotel, have some respect for the other guests who are trying to sleep!
Clean and modern property. Breakfast was good for the standard fare (it is what it is...some places don't know how to do continental breakfast, but this place does!). Pool was great-has a hot tub and a little enclosed lounging area as well as poolside toilet and shower (nice touch!). Only drawback was the odd layout due to the small footprint of the property. If your room is on the front of the hotel you need to walk into then out of the lobby, then cross the driveway of the rear of the hotel to get to the pool. Just unusual. Doesn't detract from the enjoyment of the pool or a peaceful stay!
Hotel is well maintained and my room was modern and clean. Breakfast was just ok but we got there as they were closing down for the day. Overall the property is very good and I will stay here again. You will not be disappointed.
I visit this hotel every year and I am always welcomed by the staff. The pool is always entertaining and well kept and the breakfast is always something I look forward to every morning. One of my favourite parts of the hotel is the location, it is within walking distance to many restaurants and different activities. I look forward to staying at the best western sundial every year!
I've stayed at this hotel several times. I've always liked the rooms and pool, but they have now updated the lobby and put in a fitness center. Breakfast is the best of a limited service hotel. Great staff, Great boutique hotel.
I stayed at the Best Western Sundial to attend a conference at the Hyatt at Gainey Ranch and rode my bike too and from along the canal and the great bike paths and lanes. My room at the Sundial was spacious, well-appointed and quiet, and at a great central location.
We chose this Best Western because of its closeness to Old Town along with its reasonable cost. It was an enjoyable stay with a nicely-decorated room, very comfy bed, great staff, and an adequate breakfast (with great coffee). We especially liked the fact that the shower had shampoo, conditioner, and soap dispensers. It always seems like such an ecological waste to provide those tiny plastic bottles. The only downside is that we didn't realize this hotel was on the edge of the entertainment district, so it was a little noisy at night. Certainly not the hotel's fault, though, and, despite this, we'd return.
Staff and hotel were great. Great location for restaurants and shopping. Hotel is well kept and clean. Nice Pool area and a healthy breakfast. Would stay here again. Thanks for such a great stay. See you soon Michelle W.
You get what you pay for.... the street and clubs noise, is for free. This is a new hotel, with modern new rooms, with good bathroom (but the door). There are only 2 big problems: 1) Very limited parking space, 2) NOISE. We stayed from Friday to Sunday, and we couldn't get to sleep until 2:30 am, when the noise gets lower. I don't recommend it for families, but to people that want to go to party.
Thank you Jude and crew for another perfect night.Needed a place to stay after a long business day and the SUNDIAL RESORT was there again with open arms welcoming for a peaceful evening. Also the new lobby area and breakfast set up is a great improvement. Job well done!! THANK YOU again and hope to see you more this summer.
What a great location and affordable! You can walk about anywhere. The staff was so friendly and the rooms were very clean. We enjoyed the pool. You must check out the Mexican Restaurant across the street from the property very good!
I was pleasantly surprised by the Best Western Sundial. The hotel is clean, rooms are modern and have all the amenities that you could expect: Pool, continental breakfast (just ok), internet, etc. The location can't be beat. One block from the nightlife area of Scottsdale and about 2 blocks from the Fashion Mall with restaurants like Culinary Dropout and Shake Shack. Definitely worth staying in this area. The W is across the street with Sushi Roku inside. I recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Scottsdale.
I've stayed here multiple times and it seems there is a continual upgrade going on...in a good way; I just hope they don't boost up the prices too much ;)...Never any issues with this place; they run a class operation; I can't remember his name, but the same gentlemen has been managing the place for quite some time now...does a great job...seems like he has a good relationship with the employees and it shows in the way they seems to enjoy being there.
The location is great. There is free parking, a nice pool area, and the rooms are clean. The room was updated and comfortable. It was quiet. It also includes a free breakfast with fresh fruit, yogurt, breakfast burritos and cereal. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful with recommendations. We stayed here for the National Football Championship. You can drive or walk to the mall, movie theaters, restaurants, and bars.
Loved the location, room was spotless, and the staff were the best. Oh ya, the breakfast was great too.....If you want to be close to Old Town, this is your spot. We walked to the Giants game, stopped in for a few pints along the way, etc.
When we arrived the TV didn't work. We tried to call the front desk, the phone didn't work. I went to front desk to let clerk know it took several visits. He came to the room later and worked on TV. After he got the TV working we would have to physically turn the TV on from the rear of the TV, why have a remote? Fridge was extremely loud. It was replaced the second day with an equally annoying one. Soap dispensers in shower did not dispense properly. AC and toilet were also noisy. In Arizona for Spring Training paying premium rental rates. Sorry but unsatisfied!
this best western plus is one of the nicest i have stayed at in a while! great location, staff and weather! the rooms are very nice and quiet.i would recomend this hotel to anyone staying in scottsdale
This is a very nice property in a great location and with great staff and amenities. There are more than 100 good restaurants within walking distance,as well as the Scottsdale Fashion Mall. We will be sure to return.
We had reservations and arrived about 11:00 PM. Our room was ready and was fine. The parking was another matter. Worst situation you could imagine. I really didn't feel I got a good value at over $200 per night. Being in downtown Scottsdale during Spring Training the streets were really noisy, but once we got in the room it was soundproofed enough that we were able to sleep.
Nice Best Western, two blocks from the fashion Mall in Scottsdale on Camelback Rd. Close to walking anywhere in the Scottsdale area. Lots of great restaurants close by. Very pleasant staff and clean rooms. Nice pool. Nothing extremely fancy about the rooms but comfortable. If you don't like noise, maybe don't make this your weekend place to stay. This is in the Entertainment area of Scottsdale, so music from clubs can be heard late. Weekdays were quiet.
This hotel was like a boutique hotel instead of a chain. It is located within walking distance of lots of nightlife. The room was large, comfortable, and quiet. The hotel staff were all friendly. It has great pool, hot tub, and cabana in the rear.
I put nightlife right in the title so there is no confusion: this hotel is in the nightlife district of Scottsdale. That said, it will be busy and noisy at night- stay elsewhere if this bothers you! If, however, you are looking to be within walking distance to some of Scottsdale's best restaurants, bars and clubs, then this is for you. We were on vacation and wanting to be where the action is, so this was perfect for us. The included breakfast was a standard continental with a few unexpected inclusions like Starbucks coffee and breakfast burritos. Could have used a little salsa or green chili for the breakfast burritos. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The parking lot (free, behind the hotel) was small but we always found parking. We were given a handicapped room which was designed in such a way that there was no way to not get water all over the bathroom floor, but not a big deal. My only real complaint was the price. At almost $300/night, I have stayed a WAY more upscale accommodations. But this was Scottsdale during baseball Spring Training (March) so I guess they can get away with it!
This hotel is the perfect location for going to spring training. Right by all the major bars and easy to get to all the stadiums. We will be coming back! The room was solid and staff was great. Definitely stay here for a great spring training and whiskey row visit!!
This is a great facility in the way it looks and is furnished, and the attention some of the staff pays to detail. We checked in on Tuesday March 8th after having major issues at another hotel, (another story there ). First night pretty good, went downhill fast from there. Being close to downtown there is some kind of night club close by and the loud music started about 10 pm and went until 2 am. The thumping bass, the yelling and carrying on was very loud and annoying. When I called the front desk and complained the smart mouth clerk told me that they were located in the entertainment district and that was noted on their web site. He said it went on every night until 2 am and there was nothing he could do about it. He was a real jerk about the whole thing, and he made sure I knew it was my fault for not checking their website. I guess if you stay in the "entertainment district" you probably are not interested in sleeping. This facility while very well put together, clean and modern is a pretty poor representation of the Best Western brand, and the attitude of the desk clerk was beyond belief. I cannot imagine any business traveler using this facility. There are plenty of other places to stay in Scottsdale that one would hope you could actually sleep from 11 pm to 6 am ??
The hotel was clean and pleasant. The room was comfortable and the staff was friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel was good. There was a free trolley bus that would take you to Old Town and this pretty much eliminated the need for a car.
We were in the heart of the fun, near the baseball park, the restaurants, etc. Couldn't have been in a better spot. We were in the suite that looked directly down Saddlebag Road where all the night clubs were and could enjoy the music yet stay away from all the chaos! The rooms were clean, bed comfortable. The only thing I can say wasn't good was the same type of breakfast was offered every single morning.
very much enjoyed stay at this facility. centrally located and very friendly customer service. close to fashion mall and scottsdale old town. great for leisurely walks. i need to add a few more words. i am not good at writing. but i do not give up
This Best Western is in an ideal location for anyone wanting to explore and enjoy the Old Town and bar scene in Scottsdale. Weekend nights can be noisy until about 3:00 a.m. due to the clubs close by.
Better than I expected as I haven't had the greatest luck with Best Westerns in general. New, clean and like the title says the location is excellent. Overpriced in my opinion but Scottsdale is not cheap. Complimentary coffee and breakfast (Continentialish). I'd stay there again just for the location.
I was pleasantly surprised at this hotel. It is a short walk to all of the activity in Old Town. The hotel was well maintained and the rooms were great. There was parking behind the hotel which was very convenient.
The room was fine....we were given the accessible room which meant that we had water all over the washroom at ALL times from a shower that was at the same level as the rest of the floor. When we would call for towels to be delivered (we need A LOT given the shower issue)...house keeping was CLOSED and we had to go to the front desk to get them. Seriously? Never have I stayed somewhere where I couldn't get towels at like 8pm. And going to the front desk doesn't help when you are getting out of the shower wet...not possible. TV control rarely worked. It was infuriating for my husband. We were put next to the housekeeping...which mean 8am-ish wake up noise every morning. That was fun on a nice relaxing vacation where we wanted to sleep in. Staff did not have chairs at the front desk...so they would sit in the dining area or off to the side...(Which I understand as I wouldn't want to stand all the time). But this was a little unprofessional and annoying to try to find what staff member was working. Breakfast area was WAY too small. Both mornings there was no room to eat so we had to bring it back to the room. And who was watching the towels in the pool area? Constantly dirty ones laying around because the bin was full and I had to ask 3 times in 2 days to add clean towels out there. I would have brought my own...but remember the shower issue that constantly stole my towels? No towels to spare. Overall, the stay was fine. Mediocre. The issue is paying $230/night for mediocre isn't really something I want to do again. The only thing keeping this place in business is that the location is good and similarly located hotels are very expensive. Next time...I'll spring for the better ones, though.
The hotel overall is very nice and neat. However they cut too many corners when planning and building the property to maximize the number of rooms. Sink and counters are in the foyer. The bathroom has a louvered door so no privacy and cold air while in the shower with half glass wall.
Very clean but if you are looking for quiet this is not the hotel. Lots of party goers whom continue the party in the hallways at night also getting any type of service is difficult. I called for an extra blanket pretty early in the evening and the front desk person was rude. Said they would bring me one but never showed. For over $300 a night, will stay elsewhere next time.
The staff are friendly and tried to solve problems with our television during the Superbowl but unable. The fridge froze items and the temperature couldn't be adjusted. Breakfast items were mostly continental. Had small amounts of oatmeal, burrito and pancakes. Breakfast area consisted of four tables and four stools at a bar area. Noise from nightclubs was extremely loud all nights of our 5 night stay.
Absolutely enjoyed my stay! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! We got the room that had direct view of the mountains. However there was an empty lot that kind of was ugly to look at when you look out of the room! They should make that area volleyball or basketball court and fence it in! The staff was very friendly. The room was very clean and beds were super comfy! ! ! ! ! Enjoyed the hot tub and Pool! They were just a tad bit dirty but the next day they had a guy there to clean them, so they were on top of their game! ! ! ! ! The breakfast was amazing, they had a variety of food which was different than any other stay at a hotel and I LOVED that they served Starbucks coffee, can't beat that for free! ! ! ! I however can't imagine paying more the $125 for a room on a regular night. I used my best western rewards which I recommend you join if you travel a lot. This Hotel is a bit pricey but I came to notice that it's all of Scottsdale, It was by far the cleanest in Scottsdale!! Thanks y'all for the awesome hospitality!!
I stayed at this hotel for five nights while attending the Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction in Scottsdale. I was initially disappointed with my room. It had no tub and there was quite a bit of noise outside, given the hotel's proximity to a few drinking establishments. I asked for another room, and was told that the hotel was fully booked. But a very nice guest services manager, Jessica Granadino, told me that I could have an upgraded room for the last two nights. The upgraded room turned out to be a large suite with a tub. Overall, the hotel is fine. A recent reviewer described the hotel as sub-par. That is an unfair assessment. The wifi was free and worked well. The rooms have most amenities, including large screen flat TV, fridge, coffee maker, etc. The beds are good, and the rooms are clean. The rooms are a bit dated. The exterior noise was a nuisance, but I grew accustomed to it. Staff here are pleasant and accommodating. The free continental-style breakfasts are adequate. There is plenty of free parking behind the hotel. This hotel is close to Scottsdale shopping and other attractions. It is an easy 15-minute drive to the Barrett-Jackson auction.
If you are expecting the Arizona Biltmore, you will be disappointed, but if you are looking for a clean, friendly place in a great location, and a reasonable rate this is for you. Please note, the doors open to an exterior hallway and the shampoo is not in individual bottles. There is no turndown service or robe. The price reflects all of this, and it is after all a Best Western, not a Ritz Carlton. The front desk staff is friendly and helpful and the rooms are clean and modern. Everything feels very new. We loved getting up early and running along the canal walk. The breakfast was a bit underwhelming, but the coffee is Starbucks, and the staff is polite. If we wanted to be pampered, this would not be our choice, but for the price, we found this place to be good value. The pool is small, but so it the hotel. We stayed in room 305, and found it to be very quiet and comfortable.
The Sundial Best Western Plus was a plus from your average motel but it still does not quite make the impression of a hotel. It is a Best Western so don't expect the Hilton or Marriott. This may sound harsh to BW management and marketing team but it is the truth. That said, it is a nice property that offers travelers a great location, value and comfort. I stayed during high season when it can cost a fortune to stay in Scottsdale. It is my hometown and know all too well the price winter visitors have to pay. I must have searched over 30 properties looking for the best deal. There were cheaper options like Holiday Inn and Hampton Inn but I thought perhaps the Plus might be a little more upscale so I decided to give it a try. The price was slightly under the closest Marriott but thinking back I would have paid a little more had I known in advance. The ‘Plus' was that I had a big room with a nice view of the mountains with updated interiors that were pretty stylish. I could walk to some of the best shopping and restaurants Scottsdale has to offer. Breakfast was also included with the room rate and was plentiful. The housekeeping service was extremely professional and my room was cleaned thoroughly each day. If I had chosen, housekeeping would even have changed the bed linens. This was impressive to me although I opted to not have this extra service. I have to say something about the mattresses which desperately need to be replaced...this was the point when I realized Best Western Plus was still a motel. They seemed really old and were too soft and too springy. My conclusion is that I paid for what I received. Nothing more and nothing less. This is why I have given Best Western Sundial a 3 score. Final thought: if the mattresses were updated then maybe I would reconsider my overall rating and would have given it a 4.
The Sundial Best Western Plus was a plus from your average motel but it still does not quite make the impression of a hotel. The pictures are nicely done and for the most part are true to the real thing. I can't complain very much though, I stayed during high season and it can cost a fortune in Scottsdale. It is my hometown and know all too well the price winter visitors have to pay. Now that I am one of the tourists, I am making it my job to find a good place and discoverer the best value. I must have searched over 30 properties and really did my best from thousands of miles away. I know the area well but things have changed so much that I wanted to be pleasantly surprised with this newer Best Western. In the end, it was fine. I had a big room with a nice view of the mountains. The housekeeping service was extremely professional and I could enjoy the comfort of the room. The location is awesome and I could walk to everything although I had a car (would recommend renting a car when staying anywhere in Phoenix/Scottsdale). I really was satisfied. The Sundial didn't exceed my expectations and I am not sure I will stay again but was worth the money spent. Breakfast was great too. If they update their beds then maybe I would reconsider my overall rating.
I cancelled my reservation online well before the expiration but they charged me anyways. I went to review a my credit card transactions, and I see a charge from this hotel. I called the hotel, they said they'll refund the charges and this was due to a software issue or something like that. Six days out, still no refund. They'll be getting another call from me.
Great location and the restaurants nearby are fantastic. Staff is fantastic. Very convenient to walk to the mall or the great restaurants that are nearby. I also like to bring my book to read at the Hookah bar that is just across the street. I will stay here again.
Small hotel, but can't complain. There is no better location than this hotel for all the nightlife in Scottsdale. The bars are directly across the street. This probably isn't a place a family of 4 with children want to stay, but if you're there for a vacation and want to go out, you can't go wrong. Complimentary breakfast far that was pretty decent for hotel food.
There is little "Plus" to this motel. That's right, motel. The doors to the rooms are exterior not interior. That is the defining factor between a motel and a hotel. This place is like a converted Super 8. Putting the parking lot out back doesn't change that concept. The rooms are bland. I was considering giving a two star rating, but nobody reads 2 star reviews. They read one star and five star. There is no restaurant or bar "adjacent" to the hotel as indicated on the Best Western website. Any places are a block or two away and the restaurants are pricy. Not very convenient if you want a quick snack. As soon as the night clubs across the street open all that you hear is loud bass. If you're doing anything other than passing out after a long night of partying, find another hotel.
It looks like a very new property. Overall, it looks well care for and clean. I did find part of a cookie on the floor of the room when we checked in. The breakfast was good, but the area was small, but I understand that space in that area of town is a premium. I would stay there again.
This hotel is located in a great location - walking distance to entertainment and food. Staff went out of their way to ensure comfort and satisfaction. Breakfast consisted of fresh fruit and warm options. The only downside was the noise from the traffic and people talking outside. Bring along some earplugs in order to make this an overall "Excellent" experience. Will come back!
Location, this hotel is in the right location for visiting with our son who lives in Scottsdale Arizona. We used and appreciated the bountiful breakfast and the workout facility. The refrigerator was used and the bed was comfortable. The rate was reasonable for the accommodation and the room was available several hours before the official check in time.
Close to everything around fashion square. Many restaurants, plenty of parking at rear of hotel. Not noisy for us, except the heater fan! Perfect relaxing night before we departed for Sky Harbor r(17 minute drive) to Brisbane, Australia Above all a good price.
The location in Scottsdale is great and is why we picked this hotel. Close to Fashion Square, Old Town and Art District. BUT, it is also close to the Live Wire Entertainment venue. Every evening you can hear the loud thumping base that nearly vibrates the room. This continues until 2am. It was LOUD and you can not rest/sleep while this nightclub is open. Also, the beds and bedding were the worse I've ever seen in a BW Plus. Uncomfortable and lacking. No good blanket or comforter at all. Will not stay here again. Thought I was saving money over staying at one of the resorts, but I'd rather spend the extra for a quiet comfortable room.
I visited on business but the staff were great and always ready to assist. Our Shuttle was always on time with a great and knowledgeable Driver. The hotel was close to nice restaurants all within walking distance and the Mall is just a few blocks away.
My GF and I stayed on a Friday night to attend a concert at a venue that was literally a block away. So the convenience of the location was the hook. Check-in was uneventful, but when we got into our 'Zodiac' room we were pleasantly surprised. Now I should explain that we are semi-frequent travelers and we usually seek out Best Western hotels as they are a good middle-of-the-road hotel and are always a good value, but Sundial exceeded all our expectations. The room was beatifully decorated, clean, and quiet. The vaulted ceilings made the room feel HUGE. The whirlpool was wonderful after a long day of work and partying. The only negatives were that the bed was too soft, but that's a personal preference and a common complaint with me. And, the housekeeping staff made a lot of noise in the morning. My GF and I have never checked out late and certainly didn't need the assistance waking up that was provided with all the intermittent banging. The next time we will request a little courtesy upon check-in. We did not enjoy breakfast, but past experience has been good with other Best Westerns and I wouldn't expect Sundial to be any different. Check-out was nice and quick. We will most certainly return to Sundial whenever we plan to attend an event in Scottsdale and continue to select Best Western hotels wherever we travel.
First the good. The hotel itself is unique in design. The rooms are modern and clean. The staff was friendly and accomodating. The breakfast was adequate. The location was great. Near many stores and restaurants and very close to the canal walking path. Plenty of free parking in the back lot and good wifi. Now the bad. There was so much noise all night from the bars in the area. Also the a/c fan came on and off all night and was very loud. We could hear customers slamming doors in the wee hours. The bathroom doors had open slats so it sounded like the person in there was actually in the room with you. Due to so much noise we could not stay there again unless they were able to manage all the noise in the rooms. We barely got any sleep.
Stayed 6 nights (Sunday-Saturday) for a business trip, and was overall really pleased with everything. The room was quite large, and offered an extremely comfortable bed with nice fluffy pillows, a fridge, whirlpool tub, and a counter with seating. Everything was very clean, and housekeeping never skipped a beat. The only things I missed in the room were a microwave, and the other half of the shower door. These are not things that had a negative impact on my stay though. Some reviewers have mentioned excessive noise, however I did not hear a peep from downtown, even on Friday night. The hotel is located one block from bars/restaurants, and maybe 3 blocks from the shopping "Mecca" of Scottsdale. Beautiful scenery all around, and staff were friendly enough. Pool looked inviting although I did not utilize it. Breakfast was the same everyday, but very good. I would return to this hotel without a doubt if I am ever in the area again. I highly recommend it for business or leisure travelers.
I stayed at this location for a conference. The staff was excellent. Breakfast could have been changed up a little each morning but it was still sufficient. There is plenty to do in the neighborhood from shopping and dining to nightlife. You could hear the entertainment outside of the room but the ac took care of everything inside. Modern and comfortable room. Everything was clean.
Attended a conference in Arizona and stayed at the Best Western Sundial. Great location. Walking distance to Old Town Scottsdale, 5th Avenue Shops and Mall. Hotel is very modern, clean and rooms are spacious. It is right across the street from some nightclubs so it can be a little noisy on the weekends. I was in the back of the hotel so the noise didn't effect me. Also when you have the AC on it blocks out the noise. Great complimentary breakfast selection available in the morning. Hotel staff are very accommodating and nice. Shout out to Vince who was the night guy and always available.
If you are in town to experience the local nightlife and entertainment, then this is the hotel. Sunday through Friday the local clubs are jumping and the noise is extreme. Even from a block away you can hear it in the room. I would not recommend this hotel for anyone that is in town to attend business or training. you will not get any rest from the noise.
The hotel, staff and service were fine, but the noise at night from the street traffic, hotel across the street with a very active nightlife area were unbearable. the location was awesome, so close to everything, old town, restaurants and fashion square.
Walking distance to shopping, restaurants, Old Scottsdale. The hotel is quite modern with clean rooms and friendly staff. Our bed was very comfortable as were the pillows. Really appreciated the air conditioning as it was quite hot while we were there. Bathroom with shower separate from vanity. There is a hair dryer, iron and fridge in the room. I would have liked a safe but that was the only downside. Breakfast was available near the lobby area and was very good. Free wifi in room and also able to print boarding passes in the breakfast area. There was a mix up with our bill at check out but the staff person at the desk resolved the issue and then called us a taxi to go to the airport. I would recommend this hotel. We had a room in the back near the pool so there was no noise from the clubs in the area.
Nice Hotel, clean with an individual design. Good breakfast buffet and helpful staff. It is let down a little by the rather noisy night clubs across the road particularly on Friday and Saturday night. It is in a handy location for Scottsdale and the Old town Initially stayed in a ground floor room at the front which was superb and quirky. Even had a spa bath in the middle of the large room. Unfortunately it took the full force of the night club bass notes The main rooms at the back are a lot more comfortable although the one I stayed in had an almost over powerful (noisy) AC system. On balance I would be happy to stay there again
This hotel is not a resort, as the pool area was fairly small, and there were no restaurants, however it is more like a business hotel. Its also extremely close to tons of bars, lounges, restaurants, and shopping centers - all on the nicer end. The room was very clean, the bed very comfortable, and the service very friendly.
This was second city of our cross country tour. The hotel was magnificent and the rooms were very modern. Staff was very accommodating. Breakfast was easy and suitable. We were able to walk to restaurants. Very pleased we stayed there.
The rooms are usual in so far as there is a lot of brick and concrete in the room, but it works as the rooms were quite modern. We had a large room with two double beds, fridge in the room, air con (but it was very loud). Breakfast is included, it is buffet style served on paper plates, with plastic knives and forks. there is a swimming pool across the road from the hotel, we did not use, it but we did notice there was no shade. The Hotel is a short walk from the shops and restaurants.
Good location near downtown Scottsdale. I believe the hotel is seven to eight years old, when I checked in I thought it has been open less than six months. Clean, unique layout of the lobby and most importantly, very friendly people who worked there. It is hard to explain, but it is unique, fairly priced and just was a very nice place to stay.
Best western Sundial within walking distance of Scottsdale Fashion Square although with temperatures over 100 F during our stay we did drive. Found the Sundial really comfortable with super large beds, fridge and microwave and rooms were air conditioned with temperature control. There was also a jacuzzi bath in the room although we didn't try it. Staff were very efficient but friendly too. When our return flight was delayed until the late evening staff let us keep our room until 3pm and ask Housekeeping to clean it last which was much appreciated. Hotel currently being updated in the communal areas but still clean and smart.
We stayed there one night. Very nice room. Clean. Comfortable beds. Good wifi. However, the partying noise level was way, way too high. Non-stop until 2 am. Breakfast was the worst we ever had at a Best Western (and in the running for worst ever at any hotel). The shower is poorly designed. Half open/half glass door. Water ends up all over the floor. I feel sorry for the cleaning staff. Had to have been designed by some artsy craftsy type (not an engineer). We were looking forward to our stay there but will never stay there again.
This hotel is obviously not a 5 star, but the quality and cleanliness is great! The staff are very friendly, the hotel is in a prime location within walking distance of Scottsdale Fashion Square and Old Town Scottsdale. The breakfast is great!
Not very pleased with my stay at this hotel; the air conditioner woke me up numerous times as it's extremely noisy when it starts, and then it stays loud for the duration of operation. Hotel overall very cold and impersonal, although close to downtown Scottsdale.
Stayed here for one night before flying out of Phoenix. The architecture is quite stunning for a Beat Western. Room was very clean and large. This was the tail end of our trip during which we stayed in BWs in Grand Canyon and Sedona - both excellent as well. The breakfast was the best one we had eaten during the entire week, with lots of variety and good quality food, and the breakfast tacos were delicious. Staff was great and recommended a Mexican restaurant in Old Town, Frank & Lupe's which I will review separately. Definitely recommend going there. BTW, we drove to Old Town as it seemed a bit far of a walk from the hotel, but in fairness it was 104 in Scottsdale that day.
This hotel is very typical of what you expect in the US, more of a budget hotel than a great hotel, you get value for money for sure but it's pretty dated, breakfast is non existent, gym is non existent, rooms are bigger than imagined, beds are big too, but this hotel is extremely dated, the pool is through the car park and has a chain on it, staff are absolutely awesome, extremely helpful, very polite and attentive, it's a shame this hotel is quite dated, location is ok, looks like lots of construction going on in the surrounding area, the you need a car to get around or UBER, no room service, interesting experience, not a bad hotel just a constructive comment
Awesome place to stay! Sleek and compfy rooms and style, great breakfast in the morning, and you can literally walk to the mall and all restaurants and night-life in Scottsdale! The staff and housekeepers are amazing and go out of their way to ensure you have a great stay!
Despite the fact this hotel was in a good location for our needs and was a great price, we were very disappointed! The hand held shower head flew off the wall when the water was turned on and hit my husband in the head. The shower wall was not the right size/design, so water was all over the floor and bathroom door! The wi-fi did not work, the seating area for breakfast was inadequate for the number of guests, the thermostat could not be adjusted, and the TV was lousy. The completed remodeling was very nice; still had more to do. Would like to stay there again, but needs LOTS of improvements!
Great location as this hotel is close to old town Scottsdale and also the entertainment district. Walking distance to the fashion plaza as well. Rooms are updated and well kept and the pool is small, but no one is out there so there is plenty of space. Breakfast has a nice offering, although very limited seating.
Just 6 mins flat walk to my favourite of Fashion Mall - open till late every day. Free breakfast at hotel, small but very nice and fresh. Smallish quiet hotel, not for party people. Good helpful staff.
