"Great little hotel!"
Ben W, 08 Octobre 2018

As per the title, a great little hotel a short taxi ride from the city centre. Booked a std twin room, very pleased to find this was a twin double..... Sited on the main road not far from the grounds of the Goose fair, we booked to stop here having completed a Wolfrun at the nearby Nottingham Watersports centre. Great room which was very quiet. Beds very comfortable after a hard morning's running, scrambling and swimming and an afternoon/evening on the pop and, most importantly, the shower was powerful and hot, if a little noisy but it didn't bother me! Just what I needed! Pub on the other side of the road is a decent place with a kebab/pizza shop, off license and fish and chip shop all right opposite of you are hungry/thirsty after a night out! Breakfast was a self service affair but was pretty good with the usual range All in all, a very decent hotel for sensible money.

"Unbelievably rude staff"
afuery185716, 08 Octobre 2018

To cut a bad experience short... we arrived at 2.30 only to be told neither room was ready (check in is at 2.00). When we asked how long we should wait we received a response of "how should I know"? We went back at 3.15 and the rooms still weren't ready and whilst discussing this we had another member of staff tutting and shaking their heads at us. I have never experienced such poor customer service on such a mass scale. It is ingrained within that hotel.

"Good stay "
TJO1966, 08 Octobre 2018

We had two nights here at the last minute and overall I would recommend this hotel . Only negatives were ,our double room was slightly on the small side , on a warm day it's a bit stuffy ( but they do provide fans) and you are near a busy main road if traffic noise bothers you . On the positive side, the staff were all friendly and helpful , our room was spotless , the bed was very comfy ,shower was lovely and warm and powerful. Loads of tea and coffee and the breakfast was very nice both mornings . Would have no hesitation in returning. Oh and free on site parking .

"Great welcome"
epicbarz, 27 Septembre 2018

For a business outing this was a great choice. I did not expect the level of service I received. As soon as I turned up I was greeted very warmly by Seven "pronounced Seevan" who did everything he could to help me during my stay. Always had a friendly smile and wouldn't stop unless I was satisfied. At the bar also is Daniel. He is working constantly helping everyone and always has a smile. Both these guys made my stay not just comfortable but enjoyable. I would love to give thus place 5 stars but unfortunately the mornings were just standard. It was not unfriendly during my stay at all but was no where near the service in the latter part of the day. All in all though I can highly recommend thus place. Great rooms and excellent service. Everything you could ask for.

"Great Nottingham hotel"
Michelle T, 16 Septembre 2018

I chose this hotel as i had my wedding reception there some 11 years ago, and going for a quick trip back 'home', i new the location would be good. Its about 5 mins from the city centre on bus - I had 2 young children with me so didnt want the city centre itself. The hotel great - fab breakfast, nice staff, nice decor. My only complaint is the heat of the room as it was too much. No heating on, window open & fan going, but hot water pipes under the bathroom mafe it feel like a sauna, which im sure is great in winter! Stayed for 3 nights & great value - would definitely use it again!

"Stay away from this hotel"
Christopher W, 10 Septembre 2018

A very nasty experience at noisy hotel 3 hours sleep is not enough !! Loud talking and singing throughout the night No working dispenser's for shampoo etc. in the bathroom Un useable study chair. Thank goodness I was there for only 1 night !!

"1 night stay"
Marie J, 10 Septembre 2018

We stayed in the executive king room which was amazing and huge! After an amazing rain Shower I realised there was no hairdryer in the room. So my hubby went down and asked for 1 as reception weren't answering the phone. Next thing hubby comes up with the manager (I end up waiting in the bathroom as was still dripping wet) who wanted to search he room himself for a hairdryer as apparently I was mistaken there IS a hairdryer in the room.......yup....No hairdryer. So they both disappear downstairs. Meantime I'm dressed and hubby comes back alone carrying to complimentary drinks from the bar for us both....while the manager goes to asda to buy a hairdryer for me to use as they don't have any spares. Apparently they are wiring them into the walls as the hairdryers have been "going missing" . So we ended up with drinks and a free breakfast each as by the time I got a hairdryer we had to let our table in the restaurant go. The manager couldn't apologise enough. He said we had paid for a service they hadn't been able to fully provide. Apart from that we had a lovely stay. We understand things can go wrong but it was a minor inconvenience.

"Meh. "
arrowisland, 09 Septembre 2018

Stayed here for two nights on a weekend trip to Nottingham. The hotel is on a very busy road into the town centre. The VERY small car park out front is barely big enough for a smart car, let alone my BMW. I struggled to park and was concerned for the safety of my car parked at the hotel. I arrived late at night after a long drive and wanted a shower before bed. The shower was rubbish, barely any water came out the shower head and the pressure was awful. The room itself was very small and right next to the stairs which were very creaky and lights in the hallway shining under the door prevent a good nights sleep. Hotel is close to the city centre and the rock cemetery and recreation ground.

"Saturday night visit."
9yScott, 06 Septembre 2018

Arrived with my partner to this hotel with a very nice girl helping us with our check in. The hotel corridors look a little dated which had me worried until I opened up the room door. A very large room with a gigantic bed, really well designed and very comfortable. Clean and really nice! Had a late checkout which went very smoothly and thoroughly enjoyed! Thanks!

"Worse room I've had in a very long time"
Marc J, 05 Septembre 2018

This hotel is terrible. It's more like 2 stars and definitely not 4! I don't know about other rooms but mine was awful. Just in front of a very busy road, and since there is no A/C you either are way too hot or can't sleep with all the noise. The noise is so bad that even with the windows closed you can hear it. Never ever coming back here and Best Western is definitely on my blacklist from now on. Avoid at all cost, specially if you're expecting a good night sleep.

"Shame about room SPOILET our Break."
poppybloke, 25 Août 2018

We have just returned from a three night stay at this lovely Hotel, the staff were friendly and could not do enough for you,(MOSTLY) The food was excellent especially Breakfast, everything you could wish for to start your day, also nice to sit in the bar or restaurant for your evening meal, however we were in room 215 and I was so disappointed barley enough room to swing a cat, so dark as it over looked a small yard near the Kitchen with a tree right outside the window so it was very Dark, the aircon was also there outside so the constant drumming noise was annoying to say the least and the window had to remain Closed,2 chairs in the room which you could not use as there was no room it was like a Dungeon, we were constantly squeezing past each other in fact the bathroom is nearly as Big as the Bedroom, we could not be moved (apparently as the Hotel was Busy) I know you don't sit in a bedroom all day but its nice to sit and chill after a busy day sight seeing, also first impressions count for a lot and Happiness of Guests should be the most important thing in any service.

"No way four star."
jefflizoliver, 23 Août 2018

We had two rooms for two nights in August this year. The staff were friendly and very helpful and it was good value. The rooms were clean. Our room was very warm and there was no way of cooling it down.there was no aircon and only a small window. Both rooms were very small with no views and quite claustrophobic. The beds were comfortable.Outside our room was some sort of fan that created noise all night. The breakfast was basic and the cooked breakfast was kept warm with the result that the fried eggs were solid and had obviously been made hours earlier. On the second morning I asked for a freshly made egg and they did it for me. Of concern was on the second night my daughter was unable to enter her room. She was given a new key only to find someone elses belongings in her room! She had to change rooms!!We think this is not acceptable and represents a serious lack of security and privacy.

"Cricket at Trent Bridge"
steveshears, 20 Août 2018

Good service nice room excellent breakfast, bar in hotel stayed open till late and reasonably priced, every body very polite and friendly. considering the hotel was full. Taxi's to the cricket ground on time and cheap. there's also pub's and eating places in Mansfield road as well.

"AVOID, AVOID, AVOID!"
630Helloworld123, 20 Août 2018

Please avoid this hotel at all costs. Rude and incredibly unhelpful. Do not waste your money. I have never come across such a hotel that just cares about money and are not considerate towards the guests.

"Best Western 1night stay"
janets9942018, 25 Juillet 2018

he food in the resturant was excellent, and very good value and menu had plenty to pick from. the service excellent and staff friendly, both on the reception and in the resturant. The room was clean and tidy.

"very good value"
Jane D, 23 Juillet 2018

I booked this as we were going to the Patchings Art festival for the weekend and it is only 10-15mins away. I was not expecting a great deal as I have stayed in a few hotels that have been below par lately despite reviews.. However this was well worth booking and I will do so again next year. Staff were very helpful food was great both evening meal and breakfast. Very reasonable rates,. Room large and very comfortable - very clean too. My only complaint .. it was too hot - hot eater pipes run under the floor - but then we have had an exceptional summer and there was a fan! Well done Best Western!

"Means well"
AsiaphileLondon, 23 Juillet 2018

Stayed for business. Plus points - nice, welcoming, helpful staff, comfortable bed (the only thing that saved it) Minus points - Room was tiny even for a single to the extent that you had to move the chair to get into bed or open the wardrobe and you could only open the window by standing on the bed. Blisteringly hot in this weather (no air con). Breakfast poor although if you like a fry up I am sure you're fine. No water pressure in the shower. no plug points near the bed. Need I go on?

"If your happy moving rooms all the time ??????"
Alison R, 22 Juillet 2018

Warm welcome. Great location and friendly staff. Stayed 3 nights. Firstly in room 319 lovely room great WiFi until an hour before we were due to leave for a wedding the hairdryer kept cutting out (not impressed) staff moved us to room 217. From then on everything went down hill. WiFi was none existent, walls were so thin we could hear everything (and I mean everything!!!!) the couple were up to in the room next door. Then at 4.15 am there was a screaming toddler and doors slamming. Eventually got to sleep but at 7am the staff were in the alley outside our window chatting and as the window had no handle it couldn't be shut. Spent the day in Nottingham centre with family however got back to hotel for last night and low and behold the same again. ALL NIGHT. upon check out I told receptionist I had not been impressed and was told I should have told the night porter who would have moved us. I didn't want to have to get up dressed and get moved again at 4.30 am As we had already moved once. Her answer was oh well you've paid so you can leave now. ??. I am NOT at all happy with my £275.00 three night stay so would not recommend this hotel at all unless you are happy complaining and being moved rooms on a nightly basis.??????????

"Lovely hotel let down by its staff"
reviewerslondon, 18 Juillet 2018

Lovely interior as you come in, with bar, sitting area etc. Handy location not far from City Centre and with parking available right outside. Lovely interior and great hot buffet breakfast for £9.95 pp. Twin room great, other than air conditioning unit not working and no fridge in room. Lovely large bathroom with shower - lotion and soap provided but no shampoo/conditioner. Iron, safe, slippers and portable fan in wardrobe and lots of plug points and tea/coffee making facilities plus working Wi-fi. Lovely spacious clean twin room with TV and sitting area with chairs. Bit noisy outside at night, but that's to be expected. Single bedroom, small, cramped, shabby and unappealing by comparison, with less lovely shower and fewer facilities - a real let down - so disappointed after seeing the twin room. Awful! This really upset me and spoilt our stay. Struggled to find the room and had to walk up and down stairs without joy before asking reception who didn't seem to know where it was either. Wasn't aware about the beauty services in the hotel and receptionist didn't point these out. Asked female receptionist a couple of questions regarding the rooms, nearby facilities and nearby location, but she was pretty clueless. Overall, a lovely hotel, let down by the staff and by the huge difference in what is offered as regards single rooms compared with double rooms. Don't bother getting a single room here. Great choice at breakfast (cereals, toast, fruit, yoghurt, croissants, pastries, juices, dried fruit, eggs, bacon, mushrooms, sausage etc). Although Reception staff friendly, they weren't great at giving information about the hotel or our stay. Checked in around 2.30pm to be told only one room ready. Hugely disappointed with the single room which spoilt what was supposed to be a special celebratory occasion.

"Great hotel (and manager!)"
Rory P, 09 Juillet 2018

Like other reviewers have said, the hotel is basic - but gets the job done perfectly by being quiet, clean and safe. Breakfast was good value. I had trouble checking in (my Canadian rewards scheme hadn't been recognised) and the manager went out her way to really help me - amazing customer service, she truly was hospitable.

"Don't accept room 307"
495eric, 09 Juillet 2018

Freindly Helpful staff however my room 307 was a disaster. No Air Con in my room and it was absolutely boiling hot I couldn't have the window open as the road noise was just too loud. And there was a constant noise above my room which was Id suggest the air conditioning system or something similar. The worst night sleep I can remember!

"Continues to offer great value"
TAL1241, 04 Juillet 2018

Great Hotel well worth joining the rewards programme offering some great perks Staff can't do enough for you, great for business stays during the week and a nice inexpensive hotel for tourists any day of the week

"Good for a couple of nights"
Kalani79, 29 Juin 2018

Stayed here with my husband for two nights. It was a bit difficult to find as the signage isn't huge. Room was comfortable and clean with a good shower. The breakfasts were good with lots of selection. The front desk & bar/restaurant staff were young & very efficient and friendly. Parking could be an issue as the parking lot isn't huge but we were able to find a spot both nights. Some restaurants in the vicinity looked interesting plus a couple small shops.

"Good Value for Overnight Stay"
0011223344, 24 Juin 2018

We stayed here for 1 night when visiting friends in Nottingham. The rooms are basic but comfortable - a little small if you were staying for more than 1 night. Breakfast was good, great coffee machine. Parking is available outside the hotel. No bar service from night porter though, which was a little disappointing, as most hotels offer residents a late bar service. Overall good value for what we needed and would recommend for an overnight stay.

"Pleasant "
MissWonderSeeker, 20 Juin 2018

This hotel was clean, comfortable and presentable. Our room was just as described. The only complaint is the heat in the rooms, it was unbearable at times, this hotel could really use air conditioning!

"It's got better."
Paddy F, 17 Juin 2018

Had a two night stay mid June,we got upgraded on arrival to a superb room,202, super king bed , big telly , large bathroom with a really good shower, could not fault the room , breakfast was good, everything you could want, not keen on their sausage though a bit on the spicy side for my liking, helpful staff plenty of car parking spaces, if you've never stayed at this hotel it's well placed for the city with an excellent bus service .

"Wonderful stay in Nottingham"
AussieGirl79, 17 Juin 2018

While driving from London to Glasgow I decided to stop in Nottingham for an overnight stay. Best Western was a great choice, a very clean and spacious room with amenities in the bathroom. Friendly reception staff. Breakfast is a buffet with both cooked and continental choices with tea, coffee & juices. Car parking is free.

"Overnight stay"
Annie W, 17 Juin 2018

A very comfortable stay here. Clean bedding and room. tea making facilities in room. Sevan on reception was especially nice but all staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very nice buffet. Would definitely stay again

"Great one night stay"
Steven K, 16 Juin 2018

We stayed one night for a sports tournament. When we checked in Seven was helpful, friendly and got us into our room in a seconds. We ate in the hotel restaurant and have to say the food was fantastic. Not expensive but as it was half price Saturday/Sunday it was a bargain. We'll definitely stay here again if we come back to Nottingham.

"Excellent!"
Alex M, 09 Juin 2018

What a lovely stay. From the moment we arrived Seven (I think was his name?!) on reception was really friendly and helpful. We were upgraded to a king sized room for my wife's birthday, which was great of them. The room was MASSIVE! Really big and comfy bed too. Shower is really powerful and also massive. I had a great sleep, although I couldn't figure out the air con?! The breakfast was buffet style, but far better than the other hotel chains I've been to. At £75 for room and breakfast the hotel is excellent value. I'd definitely recommend

"Pleasant stay"
Darren C, 04 Juin 2018

Stopped for 1 night on Saturday. Didn't find the hotel easily but once we did we parked the car and went in to check we were ok to leave the car to walk into town. The receptionist (don't know his name but young lad) was really helpful and said our room was ready. It was 12 o'clock so we were pleased to be able to take the luggage out the car. The room was nice and did the job! Had a fan which was a nice touch and well needed as it was a warm day. The receptionist mentioned the restaurant was doing half price burgers and pasta if we wanted to dine in that evening. Having nothing booked we looked at the menu and was really impressed with the prices and choice. We absolutely loved the meal - I had a burger and the wife had veggie spaghetti. Glass of wine, bottle of Peroni and the two meals came to £20.80. What an absolute bargain and it was delicious. There was a slight problem with the bill, having been charged full price. The waiter quickly sorted this out though and amended the bill for us to reflect the half price offer. After a night at the theatre we stopped in the hotel bar for a drink. Not many seating options in the bar as one long table that didn't seem right for 2 people, but we went up to the residents lounge which was nice with comfy chairs. Had a great nights sleep, bed was lovely. Breakfast was full of choice and tasty. The only concern was that we saw a few people just walk in and grab a table so they were not giving their room numbers to staff members. Hopefully they were paying for bed and breakfast or the hotel may be giving away freebies! Overall a very nice stay, lovely meal and the male receptionist was helpful and an asset to the hotel.

"Excellent Stay"
ThePottersYrok, 01 Juin 2018

Needed a one night stay in Nottingham & found this hotel whilst searching. Checked price for our required night, £47 bed & breakfast for a family room ! Given the price we arrived with low expectations. Easy to find on the main road with plenty of parking. We had a double/double room at the back of the hotel which was nice & very quiet. Had a great nights sleep & breakfast in the morning was relaxed with plenty of choice. Really nice modern interior, must commend the staff, they were all very friendly, professional and nothing was too much trouble. We stayed the following night at the village hotel in Long Eaton complete with swimming pool, both our kids agreed that they much preferred this hotel - high praise indeed from them ! For the price we paid, it was excellent value for money & a great overnight stay.

"Nice hotel for a short break"
TUFFLUFC, 26 Mai 2018

Stayed here using Tesco vouchers to see a gig at Rock City.Staff were pleasant and helpful on check in.Free parking is a bonus.Room was nice with everything that you need.Bath with shower over.Hotel was clean in areas we went in.Breakfast was nice though they kept running out of things which made a short wait.Overall very nice and would stay again

"An overnight stay"
jochg2016, 25 Mai 2018

Good quality hotel. Room was basic but clean. Bed was comfy. Breakfast good. Carpets in some areas of hotel in need of replacement. This hotel is in a good location for accessing City Centre attractions. Tram stop virtually on its doorstep. Theatre Royal close by as is Rock City. Marco Pierre White restaurant just a short walk away.

"Nice well positioned hotel"
James B, 18 Mai 2018

I stayed here for one night for business. Really nice hotel. The staff were helpful and the room was much larger than i expected and very clean. The resteraunt food was really good and i would stay here again.

"Good hotel with lovely room"
Jess1988tom81, 15 Mai 2018

I booked with this hotel whilst on a business trip to Nottingham. After an exhausting drive I was very pleased to arrive at the hotel and have a lovely room. The room is spacious, well equipped and comfortable. The room is quite warm but the hotel kindly provided a fan in the room which made the stay comfortable and clearly shows a proactive approach by this being readily available in the room. The bathroom is clean and modern. The shower pressure isnt very high however is sufficient. This hotel was one of the cheapest deals I found whilst looking for somewhere to stay but has far exceeded my expectations and is fantastic for the price I paid. The only downside is the parking is quite limited. Whilst I was able to get a space I can imagine this may be difficult for some guests at different times of the day.

"Could Do Better"
Jenny S, 12 Mai 2018

I want to be clear that the low marks in this review are about the hotel itself, not the staff. When we first got to our room we were perfectly happy, it was at the back of the hotel which I prefer as it's usually quieter there, and it would have been had it not been for the door slammer in the next room, my moan here is that whilst I know there is a need for fire doors I also know from my travels that soft close fire doors are available. My partner complained and we were moved to another room, sadly this room overlooked the busy main road at the front of the hotel and the windows did nothing to deaden the noise (nor did my earplugs which I never travel without). When your hotel overlooks a busy, noisy road triple glazing should be a no-brainer. The staff did what they could to help, and they were very understanding and patient, but we were so sleep deprived after the first night it was hard to really enjoy our visit to Nottingham on that day. My main point is that the most important factor for me when booking a hotel is a good nights sleep and this hotel failed monumentally on this front, and given that it is a chain hotel there is no excuse for not investing in ensuring good nights sleep for customers.

"One Night "
Donnagee, 07 Mai 2018

Stayed at the Best Western Nottingham Westminster for one night last week. Drove past it twice as the sign is the smallest in the world, so I missed it! Ended up ringing the hotel to find out where it was!! Stayed in room 306, top of the house and it was boiling in that room!! Thankfully a fan had been placed in the room which was a life saver!! As the rooms are booked by my company, it is usually the cheapest option booked. However, this time the room wasn't bad. It contained a double bed, wardrobe etc and a neat bathroom. Tea and coffee facilities also provided a welcome refreshment break on arrival and the biscuits were fab!! After a full nights sleep, the breakfast was to die for!! Lots of choice and all fabulously cooked. Couldn't fault it. As a business hotel, I had everything I needed!!

"Ideal base for visiting the area"
David R, 06 Mai 2018

Room was spacious and clean. Bed was roomy and comfortable. Bathroom was clean with decent towels. Staff were very helpful. Self service breakfast offered plenty of choice. We had no problem with parking and, with a bus stop immediately outside, we were able to get to the town centre within ten minutes via a regular service. Would not hesitate to book this hotel for any future visit.

"Mixed review"
Helen H, 03 Mai 2018

I had originally booked a double twin room for £81 room only for a Saturday night with Hotels.com. We decided to stay the Friday night too so booked this room directly with Best Western - double with breakfast for £56. Great deal we thought. We arrived at the hotel - parking was very tight and limited for such a large hotel. Fairly good booking in - both receptionists did look a little fed up. The room (307) was absolutely tiny. Walls were covered in tea splashes, scuff marks, bleach stains on the carpet, scuff marks in the bathroom. There was far too much furniture. The chair to the dressing table was too big to tuck under. There was an easy chair next to this and a large wardrobe. You couldn't open the door to get the clothes in or the ironing board out or look in the mirror as you couldn't manoeuvre any furniture around as it was so packed in. I am small but couldn't walk along my side of the bed to get in without shuffling sideways, after hitting my knee and leg on the wall. The bathroom was small too. It's ok to provide bottles of shampoo etc but the tops were filthy and really not at all hygienic. Shower was powered by a pump that made the bath vibrate and your toes tingle and very loud so not ideal. We had to open the window as the room was so stuffy even with no heating on so the traffic noise was bad as next to the busy Mansfield Road. The walls were so thin - could hear both rooms either side which was quite entertaining. We put the television on to drown the noises. The next morning we enquired about a change of room as it was so bad, pointing out how tiny the room was and wanted our original booking for the next night. This was readily agreed to and the receptionist was very helpful even offering to move our bag in if it wasn't ready by the time we needed to go to our venue. Breakfast was ok but very dry from sitting in the warmers. We ordered 2 veggie sausages and were told they would be quorn ones. They eventually arrived as we were finishing our meal - not quorn but vegetable ones - dry and microwaved. Fresh fruit was dry and the cheese was in tiny catering plastic packages. Very disappointing. We were told our new room was ready and shown up to it - what a difference - huge room with two double beds, clean carpets, lovely bathroom, could actually move around and use the wardrobe, and the desk, and sit on the chairs. The room smelt fresh and was spotless. Different domestic team on the 2nd floor? This made the whole stay so much better as I was getting quite anxious and claustrophobic in the previous room. The rest of our stay was very pleasant. Check out was smooth. The cookies at reception were lovely. Comparing the two rooms was interesting - would not give the first room 1 star - it should have been a single. The second might get a 4 but we struggled to see how 4 AA stars have been awarded to this hotel having stayed in many hotels around the world.

"Fantastic stay"
User, 29 Avril 2018

Stopped here at the Best Western Plus with two other friends for a night as we went to see something at the playhouse which is a very short walk there and back, you are just a bit off the middle of town and the corner house, you are very close to a tram stop. The staff there were fantastic and very friendly from the moment we walked through the door, the rooms were spotless they were kept clean and tidy and looked very well kept. There was very minor sound in the morning from the passing traffic and the beds were very comfortable. 10/10 would recommend to stop here if I visit Nottingham again and stop this hotel will be at the top of my list.

"Businees night"
Ian C, 25 Avril 2018

The room was large and comfortable although there is only freeview tv on offer. An ironing board & iron in the room. Parking on site. The menu was a little bland, and the chips were awful, however there is an Indian across the road. The annex room was accessed by going up a set of stairs and down another, and there was a problem with the wireless in the room.?? Otherwise the hotel could benefit from a more obvious signage outside as it was not apparent. In summary unremarkable but ok. decent breakfast

"No where near 4*"
kelly l, 08 Avril 2018

I paid £186 for one night with my mum in a twin room, the two twin beds was the Worst we have ever slept in! The springs felt like they was popping through the mattress bit like sleeping on a soft tray of eggs, so lumpy. no mattress protector just thin see through sheets, no top sheets either. Wifi codes did not work the key cards took 4/5 attempts each time to open door. The fan was so loud all night had to take key out of electric box to shut it up. Pubes in the bath and on the tiles. When I brought up about the mattress I was just told they would have a word with manager?? Breakfast was good and staff that checked us in very friendly. Not a 4* star hotel and far to expensive for what you get

"Poor"
Mannersannie, 07 Avril 2018

The staff were friendly but the room was very poor. Call it a plus just by putting a lick of paint on the room. Not good. The bar was nice but the price was high end for what the hotel was. I definitely wouldn't go again. It's too expensive for what you get. ??????

"Excellent all round"
Loughtonian1, 27 Mars 2018

The Westminster is not very prepossessing from the outside, on the busy Mansfield Rd maelstrom of traffic, with rather unkempt parking in front, a derelict site next door but one, and a Lidl and a mega-(and vey good) chippie opposite . Also, the main sign outside advertised the St George Hotel of many decades ago. But don't be fooled. This is an excellent hotel, with really pleasant and friendly staff, very clean, all amenities, excellent and no-fuss wifi and TV. Our room looked small but that was because it contained 2x 4ft beds. The restaurant, the Carrington, was really good (separate review). Buses stop outside and opposite by Lidl (the stop is called Hucknall Rd) and getting into the city, with all its attractions, is very simple. We could not fault the Westminster and so recommend it very highly. NB our trip was in March, and with the triple glazing shut, there was no traffic noise. The summer might be different.

"Refurbished and still a good place to stay"
Stan M, 26 Mars 2018

Reviewed this hotel in 2016; have stayed here a couple of times since while visiting family. Its been refurbished since we last stayed and is much improved in decor and styling inthe public rooms. Staff still friendly and helpful, food still good, very clean. £225 for room aand breakfast for two - not bad! The hotel was full but never heard anything in the night. Now just a few suggestions for improvement: My wife has mobility problems but can manage stairs if there is something to hold on to. Levels are quite up and down and the longer flights are fine but there are several short flights (anout 4 stairs) and these did not have handrails which caused a bit of wobble. Could these be given handrails too please? And the carpark is awful, because its in three parts and if you go into one and its full you have to exit onto the main (very busy) road to get to the next. We were there when it snowed which caused even more problems. A crossway would help, though realise that could lose a few spaces unless the layout can also be changed. Will be back.

"Great value for money"
mariebryant24, 25 Mars 2018

We stayed two nights, very clean room that had all we needed, good breakfast included & very friendly helpful staff. Like anywhere a couple of minor improvements could be made, room was a bit on the small side, kettle on a tray in wardrobe shelf but no plug, room was very warm opening window not an option as busy noisy road but a fan was supplied so no issue for us. No cheese avaible at breakfast asked 1st morning told they had run out but still non 2nd morning which was disappointing. Hotel about a 40 minute walk from town, bus stop right outside hotel which cost £4.00 for two. Taxi between £4.00 & £5.00. All in all recommend this hotel for a budget break stop over.

chris246, 22 Mars 2018

Outstanding looked after use great could be more helpful would go there again nothing ever was a problem what more can you ask I have a toddler which means I need a good size room they catered for me and my family the beds are so lovely you don't want to get out

"Lovely one night stay"
RhiLily, 18 Mars 2018

My boyfriend and I came to Nottingham for a one night stay and chose the Best Western as our hotel. The hotel is not far from the city centre (£4 in a taxi) and is opposite a convenience store and take aways so all in all, very handy. Our room was slightly on the small side but big enough for what we needed, clean and comfortable, which I always think is the most important thing. Bathroom was clean and the shower was powerful. We are in the restaurant, this is where they lose a star :(... the service wasn't amazing, our food took quite a while and it was freezing in there! I'd 100% stay at the Best Western again but maybe pop over the road for food instead. Great value.

"Good hotel"
Irene S, 11 Mars 2018

This is a very pleasant hotel. I have a singe room which is fine. It is very clean and fresh. A little on the small side. Seems to be recently renovated. The staff are very pleasant. And my room is cleaned each day. I have one complaint it I can hear the people in the next room. They had a shower at about 1am. It sounded like a jet landing. I woke wondering what on earth to noise was. They people also have a small chile whom I can hear. I haven't had the breakfast or used the restaurant so can't comment but as bedrooms go I would stay here again.

"Great Hotel"
TAL1241, 07 Mars 2018

Stay most weeks nice rooms recently renovated very clean good breakfast, nice staff great value for reward customers Much better value and often cheaper than some of the budget hotels well worth a visit for business or pleasure

"Great pit stop ??"
Theo H, 06 Mars 2018

Was put up here one night a week for a couple of months whilst working away. Very nice quality of rooms, lovely breakfast. Nearby shops for food. Definitely recommend! Also recommend the pub across the road The Grovesnor.

"You get what you pay for"
D L, 05 Mars 2018

Haven't stayed in a Best Western in 18 years and probably won't again. We got in very late and went to the room..The carpet was stained - heat didn't work and then the faucet handle broke and wouldn't shut off . We had to change rooms at about 1am. We were put in a smaller room -1 bath towel but the heat worked and bed and bathroom was clean. The staff doesn't seem very happy nor friendly-except for our check out this morning at 530am..He was very kind. Overall we got what we paid for and we only stayed there for convenience - we contemplated changing hotels but we were only there 4 nights and we were only in room for showers and sleep. It was a quiet place though , so that's a plus. It wasn't horrible enough to pack up and go but it just wasn't for us.

"Good hotel but.."
Kemal M, 04 Mars 2018

Generally we were happy. Hotel was clean, big and tidy room etc. But unfortunately someone hit my car in the car park and they couldn't who did that. Also they charged us £6.50 breakfast fee for our 1.5 years old baby.

"Paloma Faith Concert"
Rebecca J, 04 Mars 2018

Myself and my Mum stayed here for a night as we were watching Paloma Faith at the Motorpoint Arena. We were greeted by friendly staff who went above an beyond and got a room upgrade upon arrival. The room was massive and absolutely immaculate and very stylish (room 116). The only downside is that because the room is so large it can be very hard to keep warm at night, but it was -2 when we stayed! Not sure whether it's close to any kind of shopping centres as we literally came for the concert, but there's a great little pub called The Grosvenor right across the road. Would definitely stay here again without a doubt!!

"Great value meal"
stephens473, 01 Mars 2018

We have stayed here before and thoroughly enjoyed , this visit was for a meal only with some friends. The hotel looks ordinary from outside but once through the door it is very modern and welcoming. The restaurant is at the rear of the hotel and is quite small but very welcoming and was quite busy for a weekday at 6pm ! The food was beautifully presented and delicious, we were with some friends who are ‘fussy' eaters but all was well. Two of us had lamb shank which was delicious and plentiful, the food is very good value and we will be back. Highly recommended for a delicious meal at sensible prices.

"Great staff"
Sharpy01603, 01 Mars 2018

Arrived here for one nights emergency stay due to weather, met by Nina , so helpful great asset to the hotel , room was everything you need, clean , nice space , didn't really care about the view as it was snow everywhere you looked anyway !!! Had a meal in the restaurant nice wine , food was nicely cooked well presented, the waiter was very nice ,nicely attentive . Would I stay here again ? Yes .......... the next morning I had to come back only 2 hours after checking out again Nina found me a room straight away to save me sitting in the car waiting ! So thank you for a great stay thank you Nina and who knows I may be here tomorrow depending on the snow

"Great hotel! "
IVS, 28 Février 2018

We were relocating to Nottingham from U.S. and needed temporary place to stay. So happy we came across and booked The Best Western Plus Nottingham. The room was very spacious and modern, clean and nicely lit. Reception desk personnel is very friendly and helpful. Hotel is conveniently located right next to the bus stop for easy excess to downtown and points of interest. Overall my family is very pleased with the hotel!

"Good "
theposhgirl123, 25 Février 2018

Stayed here for only 1 night but very good. Clean, cosy, quiet. Heard people at 3 am shouting but soon in room couldn't hear a thing. Very good nights sleep, comfy bed, clean bathroom. Can't fault it.

"Stay away from the Sunday lunch"
mikie47, 25 Février 2018

I had not eaten there on a Sunday Lunch, as it was hit and miss, for a few weeks, and at 14.95 you don't want a miss !!. So today I tried it, well I ordered chicken, there were only four other people in there, but still took 45 mins. What arrived. One little chicken portion, four potatoes cut up in to quarters and fried. That's it !! No vegetables. I ask where they where, the reply, it does not come with vegetables. What !! Sunday lunch, no veg !! They quickly rustled some up, but where pan fried. Yes pan fried, and rock hard. The starter was a joke, the hot pudding came on a freezing cold plate, the waiter said. Our hot food always comes a cold plate. What !! They did not charge me for the sweet, but the whole experience was a joke, the table of four behind me, who I knew, said they would never come again any more as well. No wonder no one ever eats there any more.

"5 stars"
Mamnamik, 22 Février 2018

Brilliant hotel with good parking and reasonable size bar and restaurant. Staff were friendly (in particular Mario and Lena) although there were several new staff who need training; though they were very polite. Rooms were very nice and clean. Beds very comfy Food was 10/10 couldn't fault at all; best dinner I've had in a long time and a great fry up in the morning. Couldn't recommend this hotel enough - my only concern would be how busy the bar likely is at weekends due to proximity to city centre and low drinks prices. 10/10 stay.

"Not 4 star more like a 3/2"
User, 18 Février 2018

No plug sockets near bed only one set in room which is far had to share between kettle, iron , charger for laptop and phone. Shower pressure really weak Really uncomfortable bed Light meat bed and main light in room not working Staff unwelcoming Heating really makes loud noise.

"Stayed Two Nights t go to a Concert - Very Comfortable"
Katehawks, 27 Janvier 2018

Great value, clean and well furnished room with everything you need. Very comfortable King size bed. Modern bathroom with a bath and shower. Helpful friendly staff. It was a thirty minute stroll into the city centre. You can walk through the arboretum. If you walk at a fast pace you could be in the centre in just over twenty minutes. There is a Lidl straight across the road. Parking is free! Great Indian restaurant across the road (expensive though). the Grosvenor Pub is also nearby, and they serve good real ales!

"V. HELPFUL STAFF BUT......"
OldSchoolStandards, 26 Janvier 2018

The premises are clean, modern and fresh. The staff were very friendly and helpful - Lina really went out of her way to rectify a booking mistake I'd made. However if, like me, you are looking for a quiet night's rest, you may be disappointed. The walls are extremely thin and on the first night there was a) a couple talking in the next room and b) someone playing music 'til gone midnight. On the second night the fella next to me was snoring. On all counts, I thought they were in my room with me! Food was reasonable in the restaurant and, again, the staff were very helpful.

"Great value"
darrel69, 22 Janvier 2018

Very nice comfortable and clean hotel with excellent friendly staff, nice bar restaurant and a great breakfast. The room has everything you could possibly need with iron. Ironing board. Tea coffee facilities and a nice bathroom with decent shower.

"Overnight stay in Nottingham"
David C, 20 Janvier 2018

Booked this hotel after reading several reviews on trip advisor. Room did not disappoint loads of space large bed, desk, fridge and a couple of easy chairs. Good location for my visit but might be further out than some people want. Based on reviews I asked for a room on the back and it was quite and I enjoyed a good night sleep. Didn't exactly explore too many of the facilities or surrounding area. Breakfast was reasonably good for just short of ten pounds.

"Blissful away day"
rosalindr2018, 09 Janvier 2018

Great fot a comfortable enjoyable reliable high standard experience. Friendly polite and helpful staff. Near to the city center and far enough WY to enjoy a little rest and peace as you so choose. adequate parking available The hotel comes highly recommended

"Brilliant"
zoeclarke1, 08 Janvier 2018

Stayed for the night for a break away and the room was lovely and clean. The bed was so comfy and there was no noise from the corridors. Breakfast was amazing (continental) and fresh juices too! Staff were friendly and check in was quick .

"It was ok but won't be coming back again"
emscambs, 05 Janvier 2018

We stayed here for one night as a short stop-over while driving north. We chose the hotel based on its reasonable price, but one downside of the cheaper hotel is that it is further away from the city centre. The staff on reception were lovely and were so efficient at checking us in. We had our (adult) children with us and so had asked for a spare bed to be put in the room before our arrival, however, upon arrival we noticed it was a child-sized bed (My 5'5 daughters feet were hanging off the end of the bed and the bed was only as wide as she was and shes quite petite) even though we specifically mentioned that all of our children are adult sized. The other beds however, were comfy and we slept very well. The shower pressure is not very good at all and was so weak it was impossible to get shampoo out of my hair. Breakfast was sub-average. The coffee was horrible and the staff were useless. A poor bloke got his toast stuck in the toaster and the whole room filled with smoke and the two staff were nowhere to be seen- this is appalling. Also, we were told that we were unable to order cooked food however we noticed another customer next to us got some eggs cooked for her. We won't be coming back again, we would rather pay more for another hotel somewhere else.

"Wonderful school reunion event"
allingham, 04 Janvier 2018

This is the third time we have hosted our school reunion at this hotel. The function room is perfect, the food was outstanding and nothing was too much trouble. Special compliments to the chef and the kitchen staff, catering for all out requirements including a vegan meal, as well as the admin team who helped us to arrange it. We have already booked for 2018!

"Excellent stay. Highly recommend."
Amanda O, 17 Décembre 2017

I stayed here recently with a friend of mine as we were going to a gig in town. Excellent hotel and very impressed by customer service, breakfast was lovely. Bus stop right outside with regular service. Plenty of parking available. Would definitely stay again.

"Great staff, food, rooms and value for money"
Mark B, 14 Décembre 2017

I've been staying in this hotel every month for over a year now as I find the staff very helpful and friendly, Lina at reception who is always friendly, professional and helpful, and Kosala, who works in the restaurant and bar area who is always friendly, professional and aims to please. It makes a big difference when you are made to feel welcome which is why I choose this hotel. Thank you guys.??

"Great value"
923fabiena, 14 Décembre 2017

Nice staff treats you with care and smile. Tiny room but enough for a one night stay. Good restaurant, good breakfast with a quite large choice of meals. Car park is small and your car should not be too large...

"Happy to recommend "
Toniej, 13 Décembre 2017

This is a functional hotel, no frills, no pretensions. But what it does really well is comfort, resulting in a great night's sleep, cleanliness (our bathroom was gleaming) and service with a genuine smile. Not to mention breakfast was superb! My family all had food requests that weren't on the buffet, and all were met with ease. Very happy to recommend this hotel

"one night stay in a comfy bed"
Vericlair, 10 Décembre 2017

came from Manchester for a works party night and stayed here. very comfy beds and the room were all clean and well stocked with tea etc for the morning after! the reception staff were pleasant and helpful

"Luxury"
Debbie P, 07 Décembre 2017

We were upgraded free. the room was very large and so was the bed, which was very comfy. the decor was very modern. the bathroom was large & very smart, but cold as only heated by towel rail. The breakfast was excellent, fu?l english and lots of fresh fruit. staff very helpful & pleasent. Downside we were on 3rd floor so had lift to 1st floor the walked up 2 flights.

"CHRISTMAS DINNER"
Mercedes74, 04 Décembre 2017

Family of four had Christmas meal on 3rd December at 6.00pm, pre booked. The turkey was cold. Had no bitter lemon to put in a double gin so asked for lemonade but was served tonic water. We had quite a lot of food left over so asked that it be boxed up to take it home. Manager said not possible - we are not a takeaway! Fortunately the waiter said he would get it put in tin foil which he did and gave it to us in a carrier bag. On paying the bill they conveniently forgot to deduct the £40 deposit that had been paid in advance! When we left at 7.30pm there were only two other people in the restaurant. Will never be going back there!

"Comfy stay "
mje403, 01 Décembre 2017

Stayed here for one night whilst out for a friend's birthday. Small rooms but clean and cosy, beds were very comfy. Tea and coffee facilities in room very good also. Easy to get to and staff were helpful in booking taxis which came very quick

"Worst Hotel I Have Stayed (And I travelled The World!)"
businesstrav2015, 28 Novembre 2017

- Could not sleep at night due to some annoying loud noise coming from the toilet! (It's a shame I can't upload videos to TripAdvisor). - There were mosquito noises! - The room was reaaaally cold (no matter how much you turned the heating on). Called my company and they immediately booked me for another hotel. IF YOU HAVE WORK TO DO AND NEED A GOOD NIGHT REST, DO NOT STAY HERE! I called the hotel and tried to get some money back as I only stayed one night from the 3 programmed and they denied and the manager was very very rude! I am taking action with my credit card provider in order to get my money back.

"Pleasant overnight stay"
Craig S, 26 Novembre 2017

I stayed with my partner this weekend, very efficient check in, immaculately clean, not only the room but the shared areas. Possibly one of the best small hotels I've stayed in, great nights sleep and the full English breakfast was very good. Would definitely stay again!

"Not the best off"
Glenn C, 26 Novembre 2017

We stayed here a couple nights the hotel is fine rooms are small but clean good shower generous tea and coffee. We ate in the restaurant the first evening total disaster had antipasto to start it came still wrapped up quite hard to eat like that seemed to amuse the waiter. Three of us had roast beef that was awful, one had chicken which she enjoyed the waiter put the plates down so fast most of the veg went in my glass of wine which he did replace. The breakfast was very good probably because it was self service. The next evening decided to eat in the bar another mistake two guest at the bar said we would be better off going across the road for fish and chips. We had four burgers and chips which were nice, but they came two first then two twenty minutes later Perhaps a change of restaurant staff or retraining would help this other wise good hotel

"Convenient location, great staff but tight for parking"
NigelnTracey, 24 Novembre 2017

I found the hotel quite difficult to spot from the road, more prominently branded as a restaurant! The car park in front of the hotel was very tight for space, as others have noted. Reception was friendly and efficient (as was check out the next day). All other staff in bar and restaurant were equally welcoming and the service good. The room was a little smaller than many Best Western, but a large, and it appeared recently refurbished, bathroom. It was comfortable and clean. Food in the restaurant was reasonable and average prices for a hotel. A very convenient location.

"Tiny room - but everything else made up for it"
DebsODea, 23 Novembre 2017

I'm so glad we stayed. I travel all over the country for work and my first impression of this accommodation was not highly favourable, its a cheaper hotel than I would normally stay in and as a result the bedroom was pretty emall. The small room however pailed into insignificance as we were continually greeted by the most helpful and hospitable staff. The real gem however was the restaurant. The food was simply perfect. I would absolutely recommend that you dine here. You will not be disappointed.

"A weird giant room, a bit too hot, in a nice hote with a convivial bar area"
pink_n_fluffy_NOT, 22 Novembre 2017

I might give this hotel another try one day though we did not like the room too much. They had made a big effort with the decor and this worked so well for the hotel's bar area and 'residents' lounge' but this did not work too well in the bedroom. It was big enought to have a party in, we were a bit lost in there, and it was a bit too hot for comfort, overstuffed duvet, pillow, bed mattress, and - this bit feels a bit unkind - but the bathroom though clean, had a slight but distinct musty-damp smell.

"Night of Hell"
Graham C, 16 Novembre 2017

At The Best (?) Western I had one of the worst nights of Hell I have encountered. The room next door was apparently occupied by a crowd of women shrieking hysterically and screaming and banging various objects against the wall. I hesitated to imagine what sort of Desperate Fun they were involved in but immediately started constructing a half-awake narrative which encompassed it. At midnight there was some respite when the ladies of the night went out, stomping noisily along the corridor. They returned however at about 2.30 in the morning, and continued shrieking and screaming and banging. Occasionally a male voice could be heard barking through on some sort of amplified walkie-talkie set-up. God knows what was going on. Even my semi-dreamstate narrative capabilities failed me at the point. After about another hour or so they went out again. This would be about four o'clock in the morning. I decided they were either a hen-party of policewomen or prostitutes equipped with some very high-tech communications technology. Or maybe even both. I can accept that none of this was exactly the hotel's fault and I simply got the bad end of a short stick. But my advice when visiting this place would certainly be to take ear-plugs, if not a set of industrial quality ear defenders.

"Amazing."
Jules749, 12 Novembre 2017

Fantastic hotel a very warm welcome nothing to much trouble.lovely rooms and friendly staff. Plenty of on site parking. The hotel restaurant (Carrington restaurant) food is wonderful and great value for money.

"Good location and transport links "
Jessica S, 12 Novembre 2017

Saturday night stay mid-November. Twin room. £90 room only. Room 111. Pros - Great location close to city centre, great transport links. - Free parking - Local shop, pubs and restaurants within walking distance - Spacious room with two doubles - Beds nice and firm, thick duvets and plump pillows - En suite with shower over bath, good water pressure and temp. - Room service available £2.50 tray charge - Iron, hair dryer, safe in room Cons - Car park spaces very tight and close together, first come first served basis - The hotel is three large town houses joined together by bridge extensions - To get to room 111 you take a lift to first floor, walk up more steps, walk across extension bridge and back down the stairs to ground floor, bit of a trek! - Room a little bit on the grubby side, stains on carpet and room smelled a little damp and musty - Ordered room service breakfast, ordered fresh fruit salad but no melon due to allergy, this was ignored. We also ordered beans and mushrooms on toast. Was served beans on toast with a side plate of cold mushrooms? Coffee pot tepid. Bit of a waste of time and money really. Would visit again but would request room closer to reception and go out for breakfast.

"Consistently gets everything right: recommended."
Rickanstis, 30 Octobre 2017

Straightforward, pleasant, and very convenient accommodation, delivering very good value, a pleasant bar area, and with very nice staff. So many hotels fail to get all these basics right – but this one consistently gets them all right. Recommended.

"Very Nice overnight stay"
LONGHAULFLIERS, 22 Octobre 2017

This is the second time we stayed at The Best Western this year, it has just had a major refit and the interior and the decor makes it a lot better, the colour and the furniture has made it better than last time. Check in was no problem and we were allocated a double room on the first floor. The room itself was big and the bed was big and comfy and we both has a couple of comfy pillows. There was plenty of coffee and tea and milk in the room and i do not think you would run short. The only negative comment was the heat in the room was a bit too much and my wife and I were a bit too warm and a window was opened but the room was not at the front of the building which did not have a lot of noice, only people coming up the stairs after they have had a drink, some where singing and we even got a knock on the door. Breakfast in the morning was very good, there was plenty of choice to choose from and overall the breakfast was very tasty. Overall it was a nice overnight stay and we would definitely stay at The Best Western again.

"Start to the holiday"
ScunthorpeMick, 22 Octobre 2017

We were dud to fly out of East Midlands airport at 8am on Friday the 11th October and didn't really want to travel in the early hours so started looking for hotels with holiday parking. Parking alone was £40 so when I came across the best western at £60 it was a no brainer. You don't actually park at the hotel , you drive to the airport and park in long stay 1. The hotel is clean easy to find . The rooms have tea and coffee making facilities a tv and a massive shower. Adjoining the hotel is a excellent bar and diner serves great meals and drinks at affordable prices. If ever I fly again from east midland airport I will definitely be using the best western again. Staff very friendly and helpful made it a pleasant start to the holiday.

"Over night stay"
Kathleen D, 13 Octobre 2017

I stayed here last Saturday night I was in a good sized room which was a nice surprise as I expected it to be a small room with a,single bed No it had a double it was warm clean. and quite Breakfast was plentiful. With a good choice. Staff were very friendly If I am needing to stay over again I would have no qualms regarding this hotel

"weekend away"
DUKEDAVE, 08 Octobre 2017

I booked 9 rooms for my third visit to this hotel 2 family rooms and 7 king rooms again to visit the goose fair and the great city of Nottingham .When we arrived we straight away loved the transformation of the hotel foyer bar and restaurant, then when we entered our rooms we loved the new décor. In the morning the breakfast was spot on as a buffet breakfast and when we went down on the second morning the hotplate was broke so we had our food cooked to order and the was superb the waiting staff were great the receptionists were superb the duty managers were totally professional and the barman on both nights was brilliant again I will have no hesitation in recommending this hotel

"Not a pleasant stay"
Mandy N, 08 Octobre 2017

Had a night away in Nottingham with my husband. Instead of going for our usual Travelodge or Premier Inn we decided to try something different - big mistake! This hotel is clean and the staff helpful but that's about the only positives. Our room was so small (cupboard like), stuffy and smelt badly of antiseptic. In fact we were up and on the road back home by 7:30am as we felt we just needed to get out of the place. There is a restaurant but we did not eat there so I can not comment on the food. There is a bar which looks newly refurbished. There are also function rooms which can be hired. There was a birthday part the night we stayed which had spilled over into the bar. The helpful bar tender said we could take our drinks into the residence lounge which would be quieter. It wasn't - there was no door between the two spaces and the noise just carried. In addition the residence lounge looked very stark almost to the point of being half way through being decorated. In all, this was not a pleasant experience of a first visit to a Best Western. We certainly won't be returning to this one or trying another's elsewhere. We'll be sticking with our old faithfuls.

"Great hotel, excellent food"
David C, 04 Octobre 2017

Stayed couple of times, the hotel is great value for money. The restaurant food has been excellent every time. Will definitely use this hotel in the future as its good value, friendly staff and great service, top food

"You can't find it ?"
Anne W, 02 Octobre 2017

The hotel was great, but the problem is the address....the listings are all on one address, but the entrance is on the next street up on upper parliament street. GPS kept telling us we were there, but no signs and no entrance. We finally walked around the block and found it. Across from the crown plaza.

"Ideal location to visit Nottingham"
Margaret C, 01 Octobre 2017

Room sufficient but was warm overnight even with fan on. Was at front of hotel above Bar area Reception and no air circulation.next day was told we could have moved rooms. Hotel ideally placed for bus route to City Centre. Breakfast excellent.

"Stay let down by room"
ian b, 24 Septembre 2017

We needed an overnight stay with easy access to city centre and free parking (on site) and this hotel met all criteria. Steps led from front car park to reception (disabled access around the back but no way of getting to reception to tell them you want the disabled access). Only one receptionist, and she was on phone, so a little delay in booking in. Hotel is clean and presentable, staff friendly, breakfast was buffet style and well cooked and presented with plenty of choice. Our room , although clean, was tiny. (sure it was a single room and not a double).Although I could get out of my side of the bed, the TV was on the wall at the foot of the bed which meant I had to duck but there was also a chair under the TV which blocked my route. Only way was to clamber to the foot of the bed. There was no other place for this chair in the Tiny room. Bathroom was clean and a good size. We did ask about the size of the room and were assured it was a double. we were told that we could have requested an upgrade but for one night, we put up with it. Would stay there again as very handy for City Centre, bus stop right outside with regular buses.

"Like sleeping on the M1. "
Lisa J, 21 Septembre 2017

The staff were efficient and helpful, and the bar seems newly refurbished. Room clean, nothing you fancy but fine. However, none of that matters if you can't sleep in the room. The windows onto the main road aren't sound proofed so you may as well be sleeping at the traffic lights. Traffic runs all night, and is loud. I didn't get any proper sleep after 5am. TV didn't work but as I was only there for one night I couldn't be bothered to faff. Currently sat on a train to a work meeting knackered so despite positives, can't really muster anything other than a poor rating.

"Tiny plain room, disappointed"
Clive B, 20 Septembre 2017

The hotel was all very nice, friendly staff and clean, but let down by the tiny, dull, noisy room I was allocated. The room was very small as was the bathroom, I could hear all of the other people in the rooms around me .I will not be back.

"Great place for an East Midlands flight"
Ian S, 17 Septembre 2017

Came across a great hotel and parking package for an early morning flight from East Midlands airport. Only a short drive in the morning to the airport. Hotel was clean and tidy. Staff were friendly. The room was MASSIVE!

"Nice updated hotel."
Bill D, 16 Septembre 2017

Easy to find although there is limited parking. The room was great and the section of the hotel we were in appeared to have been recently updated and plush. Great room with en suite and relatively quiet. Staff were on the whole very friendly if a bit aloof and inattentive at times.

"Superb Evening"
Angus1234186356, 16 Septembre 2017

Food is excellent. Staff are polite & curteus. Drinks are very good price wise. Very good location for amenities in and around the city centre. Whole hotel has been updated to a very good standard. Free wi-fi & we had one electrical fault which was dealt with imediately.

"The best of the best!"
Giles527, 14 Septembre 2017

I've stayed in other hotels in this chain and have thought that the name should be "Worst Western", but this one is different. Perhaps it's because it's a "Best Western Plus" hotel. Staff are lovely, bar area is nice and clean and the room was great. Can't fault it and would definitely stay again. Very reasonable room rate and good breakfast too.

"Very well run hotel."
alec453, 10 Septembre 2017

I was most impressed with the Best Western (Westminster) hotel on the Mansfield Road in Nottingham. The staff are generally pretty good, with at least half of them being rather excellent. The facilities are very good, with the cleanliness - of the rooms in particular - being kept at a high standard. This is most important as, whether on business or a leisure trip, a good night's sleep and decent food are paramount.

"Excellent staff!"
BJP84, 06 Septembre 2017

Staying away on business I have now picked this hotel as my regular hotel in Nottingham! This is solely due to the staff and the welcome I have received from the reception team to the restaurant staff. They are excellent and I do hope the management team read this review! The Restaurant also serves a wonderful freshly cooked menu! I have had the mushroom and Stilton Wellington three times now as so delicious! Rooms are always clean and well serviced. There is a lot of traffic noise but you can always close the windows or request a back facing room. Thank you to the whole team! Would definitely recommend!

"Excellent value for money hotel"
KWMc01, 03 Septembre 2017

Booked this hotel via Booking.com the night before, so wasn't sure what to expect. It was easy to find, and my daughter and I were given a huge room which was super clean. The bathroom was lovely, with again a large walk in shower. There was also an iron and ironing board, slippers and a hairdryer as well as a safe should we have needed it. For me what clinched the deal was the fact that there was a plug next to the mirror so that I could plug in my straighteners and do my hair without any problems of stretching the cable etc. The staff were uber efficient and friendly. We only had a drink the night before so I cannot comment on food. They do have a car park which is a little slim, but I have a Fiat 500L and parked with no problems. I have to come to Nottingham frequently to see my daughter who is at uni there, so I have stayed in a few hotels across the city, but this hotel is now my hotel of choice. Excellent, thank you. Sorry no photos this time as it was a flying visit!

"Clean and modern hotel with great breakfast and gluten free options."
pjrush2016, 31 Août 2017

Good choice for a short break in Nottingham. Off road free parking. 20 minutes walk into the city centre along one straight road or there's an endless flow of busses. Hotel was very clean with fresh, modern interiors. Great breakfast. I requested a gluten free vegetarian breakfast when I booked online. At check in the receptionist was aware of this and each morning the restaurant staff were also immediately aware and took time to explain what I could eat from the buffet and what could be ordered from the kitchen. Gluten free toast and cereals were available along with the usual hot and cold buffet selection. A refreshing change. The hotel has a nice, relaxing bar and lounge area. Room was comfortable and spotlessly clean although the bed was quite hard. There is a good family pub across the road serving food. Arboretum about 10 minutes walk.

"Good hotel"
Carrotol, 27 Août 2017

The only reason this didn't get five stars is that the room was too hot, even with the fan on. Cleanliness was excellent. Staff very friendly and breakfast was fab. All you can eat for £9 sounds a lot compared to Leeds but drinks were included and there was lots of choice of fresh fruit too. I wasn't expecting too much from a 3 star hotel and it exceeded expectations

"Convenient place for a short stay"
GraemeCoyne, 24 Août 2017

Good location, clean and tidy room, nice bathroom, slightly uncomfortable bed. Wifi strength is reasonable for multiple devices. The best part is the surrounding are that has nice pubs and a great Indian restaurant across the road. The breakfast is good and I didn't use the restaurant or bar.

"Very comfortable and recent upgrades/renos done to lobby and bar area!"
Debbie L, 22 Août 2017

Great value! We appreciate the comfortable beds and clean rooms. The breakfast selection was huge and diverse. Something for everyone for sure. The lobby and bar have been recently updated and looks very nice. Some of the staff are super dooper, especially the helpful maintenance guy! Overall a very nice three night stay. Great proximity to a couple of good restaurants/pubs as well and a 20 minute walk the City centre or a 5 minute taxi ride. All good! :)

"Great location and staff"
Parcelie, 20 Août 2017

Stayed for 3 nights in a family room. Location was on a main road, but we had a room at the rear which was very quiet. The room must have been recently refurbished in a contemporary modern design, making it fresh clean and tidy. A good sized bathroom provided a good family facility. Breakfast had a good selection. Free parking on site was a bonus. The nearest park and ride tram was only a 5 minute drive (15 min walk) from the hotel giving easy access to the city centre. A good experience, would use again.

"Room at the top"
Michael B, 16 Août 2017

Was given a room upgrade upon request for my Diamond select card, right at the top of the hotel. Room was quite large and all amenities worked as expected. The breakfast offered a good choice of dishes. Evening meal offered a reasonable number of dishes. Free drink offered as a Diamond select card holder.

"Good Value"
ladsarmy1, 08 Août 2017

Stopped here for three nights while visiting friends. The hotel is just outside the city center and only a ten minute bus ride .You have any amount of buses going back and forwards to the center. The hotel is very clean and staff very friendly. We had a standard double room which was more than adequate.Very clean and a comfy bed,a nice little touch there is a safe in the room.Cant comment on breakfast or food because we ate out.We would stop here again and if you are going to races as we did perfect location.

"Couple and single travelling together"
Sue P, 01 Août 2017

We have stayed at this hotel before when visiting our daughter at Uni in Nottingham. We have always been pleased with it. This visit was for her graduation so we booked a double room and a single room for grandma. Since our last stay The Westminster has undergone an amazing transformation! Our rooms were amazing! The single room was lovely with a double bed and nice facilities, immaculately clean. Our double room ended up being a massive twin room with 2 king size beds! Both rooms were lovely, bathroom facilities were great, shower was perfect. Booking in was easy, lifts worked great, parking was available and staff were nice and friendly. Didn't pre book breakfast but it was convenient to go for breakfast, we could have had full English but didn't fancy it, so had continental. Not a bad choice of cereal, pastries, fruit toast etc, but I personally thought £25.50 a bit steep for 3 continental breakfasts? Really enjoyed our one night stay and we wished we had booked another night. This hotel has a lot to offer, it has a bus stop right outside the door and very regular busses going into the centre. Nottingham is a great city, lots of shops and lots of places to eat. The castle and the caves are worth a visit too. Enjoyed our stay.

"amazing makeover"
jamesparson, 01 Août 2017

the whole reception, bar and lounge have been refitted to a beautiful standard, it was a delight to stay here. the staff make you feel really welcome and make the stay worthwhile. the rooms are clean and as a wheelchair user my room was accessable and beautiful especially the liquid soaps in the bathroom

"Brilliant hotel! Wonderful staff!"
Ryan P, 30 Juillet 2017

Me and my partner stayed here in April for one week and we had a brilliant experience. I strongly recommend this newly refurbished hotel to young couples seeking a luxurious, warm and friendly atmosphere. On arrival, we were greeted by the assistant manager (Andrew) who welcomed us with a warm and gentle smile. He checked us in without any hesitation and informed us that our room had been recently renovated and that building work around the complex was still taking place. This did not affect our stay what so ever. Our room was very spacious, bright and had a large king size bed. This is by far one of the best rooms we have ever stayed in. One evening, i approached the assistant manager and asked if it would be okay for us to plug in our smart projector so that we could catch up on netflix. Andrew kindly agreed and went one step further. To our surprise he provided us a large projector screen and said we could borrow it until they needed it again. This to me is 5 star service! and ultimately made our stay even more delightful. Thanks once again Andrew. We sometimes made it down for breakfast and oh boy the food is delicious. The sausages were tender yet succulent, eggs cooked to perfection and the breakfast cereal was a very eclectic mix. We were waited on by staff and they couldn't do enough for us. After Breakfast we normally asked for a taxi and the girls behind reception kindly ordered one for us free of charge. Taxi's normally arrive within 10 mins and cost just under 5 pounds to get you into the town centre. Eating outside the restaurant is what we did quite frequently, we have eaten at the best western before and found the food to be amazing. We did however venture out this time and i would really recommend MR.MANNS in wollaton. I have eaten in top quality chinese restaurants in central Hong Kong and believe you me this tops all of them by far. Strongly recommend this place. Thanks once again best western for making our stay a very warm and pleasant one. I admire all you hard working staff. We will be sure to come visit again from sunny cornwall next year. Kind Regards, Ryan

"Overnight stay before big event"
Robster_80, 24 Juillet 2017

I stayed with my other half and a friend before competing in the outlaw triathlon. The hotel was the cheapest I could find locally for the weekend. It does look like the hotel has been recently refurbished. Carpets are new and rooms were decent. We stayed for dinner and thought it was very nice. Two of us had the beef which was tender but maybe more would have been nice. Overall portions were ok. Unfortunately there was a party going on that evening which even with the windows closed you could hear the music. With a 345am start the following morning. Not ideal but I accept that's what hope s with hotels. The car park is cosy. Generally we were happy with the service and standard of the hotel and would use again.

"Lousy sleep"
J4189MXsaraha, 21 Juillet 2017

One of the cheaper options in Nottingham. Room ok in regards to presentation, but incredibly uncomfortable bed and room very hot - no air conditioning, but fan provided. Free parking offered which many other hotels do not and near enough to city centre to be able access entertainments available.

"What you'd expect"
RockyOB, 20 Juillet 2017

I stayed here for one night, away on business. The car park is not particularly large and I eventually found a space around the back of the building. I did see one car struggling to park (not helped by an Audi driver parking over the lines of their space - typical of them) as the spaces around the front seemed quite narrow. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. Unfortunately the walls were very thin and I could hear the conversations of the people next door! I was overlooking the main road, so was woken around 05:30 with traffic noise. Breakfast in the morning was adequate, but nothing amazing. The in-room wifi was free, but very slow - I resorted to tethering to my phone which was quicker! All said, the staff were friendly enough and pleasant.

"Only OK"
sothestory, 19 Juillet 2017

Stayed for a night, easily accessible free parking which was great. The room was clean but small and the bed was comfortable. It was bit shabby to say it had been renovated. Wi-Fi signal was non existent as was the freeview. The walls and floor are paper thin, didn't sleep well as we could hear people talking, snoring and walking around all night. The view was tetrible... we had a half constructed garage covering our window which made the room uncomfortably dark. Would have asked to swap rooms but it was literally just a place to put our heads for the night. There were random people stood underneath our window smoking and talking in the evening as well. Despite staff being friendly would probably try to find a different hotel next time.

"Great value for money!!"
Mariano R, 17 Juillet 2017

I have been staying for about three days at this hotel for work purposes and the location is brilliant, less than 5 minutes from the center by bus and the shopping Victoria center , restaurants and the main marquet square. The receptionist very attentive and friendly (I can not remember her name sorry) and the Deputy Manager Andrew seemed to be entertaining with my boring job chat. In summary a family place to spend a few days in this city.

"Hot + Expensive"
AnonymousNEJ, 14 Juillet 2017

Stay was decent. Room was the like a sauna and there was no heating controls, which was annoying. Expensive at £85 for a single bed room. Only 6ft 1in but had to kneel in the shower. Room was clean and hotel staff were helpful and bar was very good. Great location in terms of vicinity to city centre

"Good enough for a business trip"
KCiscasey, 14 Juillet 2017

We booked this hotel because it was convenient for a business trip. The hotel was perfectly reasonable and there was nothing to complain about - good friendly and helpful staff, fast checkin and checkout, very clean, and an extremely good varied breakfast. The hotel is a bit of a maze of a building (two buildings joined together actually), but you get to learn your way around. The room was relatively small but workable, and the key ingredients (bed, pillows, towels, shower, hot water, etc) all were absolutely fine. This worked well for us given we needed to be in the area, but otherwise an ordinary functional hotel.

"Good value friendly place "
Sammy509, 03 Juillet 2017

Stayed on business , had mixed experiences of BW , this was a good one . Very friendly team , room was tiny but comfy bed , nice shower. Room ceiling was coming away otherwise all ok Restaurant was ok , special was nice and at £10 , good value .

"Robin Hood, here we come"
kingdavid42, 03 Juillet 2017

The hotel was much better than expected after having read several mediocre reviews so we were very pleasantly surprised. Our room was compact but had everything one could need. The bathroom was fresh and clean with lovely fluffy white towels. Our room was serviced each day with a generous selection of beverages and complimentary biscuits. The public areas were lovely. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent. Our only gripe was noisy residents at 2 a.m. on Sunday. Unfortunately our room was off the man corridor!! Otherwise 9/5 out of 10

"Best Sunday Lunch ever."
mikie47, 02 Juillet 2017

Awhile ago I wrote about how bad there Sunday lunch was. But now I must write to say how totally brilliant it has become. Not the cheapest but worth the extra. Want to go out for a Sunday lunch, in a totally refurbished restaurant, try it, you will not be disappointed. :-)

"Excellent"
User, 13 Juin 2017

Booked this hotel after firstly booking a hell hole called 'The Stage Hotel'. As soon as me and my girlfriend set foot in this hotel we were pleasantly surprised and our faith within hotels was restored. This hotel was going through refurbishment and new carpets were being laid but besides that the quality of the hotel was unbelievable. The rooms and hallways and even the reception with the amount of foot traffic were immaculate. Would definitely stay here again without a doubt and would recommend

"Great makeover"
julie W, 13 Juin 2017

This hotel has been completely revamped. Its amazing now. Very imaginative decor, everything clean, absolutely enormous twin beds, lovely food. Friendly staff Really excellent place to stay - I thoroughly recommend

"Cant fault it"
meertens76, 11 Juin 2017

We stayed here whilst son was taking part in a hockey competition nearby and couldnt fault it . There were a few niggles the kettle in the room (#102) was tempremental and the duvet that was on the bed a bit to thick but thats personal choice . Apart from that our experience here was outstanding staff are wonderful not just with us but we witnessed them helping a blind guest navigate around the hotel nothing was to much trouble . Our award for staff member of the stay goes to Rose who was on duty on sunday 11th she was excellent really was the icing on the cake in what was a fantastic stay .

"Disappointed and Confused"
Mumsky2014, 11 Juin 2017

We stayed one night in Room 306. It was VERY small, hot and not that clean as carpet looked as though it has not been hoovered and there was soap scum in the soap dish attached to the shower. Breakfast mediocre. Now for the confused part - we were charged just over £118.00 for two of us including breakfast but when I look at the internet today a similar room for next weekend is a lot cheaper. Please could BW explain the variances in the pricing tariff. Moans aside the reception and bar staff were excellent.

"nice hotel, friendly service, good value - but: car park could be better"
wolfgangp163, 09 Juin 2017

nice hotel with very friendly service, Katie at reception is a diamond with a big smile! Having booked a standard single room I got upgraded at no extra cost into a double disabled room - which was a real treat as I do use a walking stick and being on the ground floor with no steps and the additional facilities in the bathroom in particular made for a very pleasant and comfortable time, really appreciated that even though I'm able enough to stay without problems in a 'normal' room it made me very happy. Next time I would ask for this room - no. 107 - as a matter of preference as it's just a very nice place to be and the bed and everything else being certainly comfortable. ----- only caveat was the car park, on a positive note directly by the entrance and at no extra cost, but as the bays are very small and in particular narrow (and I don't drive a big car, just a VW Golf estate) I had to be very careful when parking at arrival, but working in the motor trade I'm used to tight spaces, so it's no drama for me. But the unwelcome thing was the next morning when getting a very early unexpected wake-up call while I was still asleep in bed... apparently my car was blocking somebody in, which I knew was impossible. Being nice I said to the receptionist to come to me and get the key from my room allowing them to move my car - which they did. When I left the hotel 3 hours later my car had been moved - happy with that, absolutely fine with me - but not happy to find a hand written note on the dashboard with extremely rude words I do not want to repeat (and which would be unsuitable to the tripadvisor audience!), clearly written by the person who must have claimed wrongly to have been blocked in... surely this must have been the most unpleasant person ever to come across, certainly with absolutely zero manners and most likely with zero driving skills, too! However - wider parking bays would most likely have avoided that problem to happen in the first place,,, and also reduce the risk to damage ones car, But that issue did not spoil my nice time had in this hotel, hence I'd be happy to come back and to recommend it to others. Much better than the neighbouring Cotswolds hotel... where I staid last year and not that much more expensive, the £60 I paid represented pretty good value taking everything into consideration. Good middle class in my books!

"Pleasant Hotel"
Paul F, 05 Juin 2017

Pleasant room, happy helpful staff, clean room, a little annoyed that the price on the day was over £50 cheaper than when I booked - but I had to make an early reservation..Fried eggs for breakfast..been there too long..otherwise. Happy

"Think you know best western? Think again!"
BenLeigh250, 03 Juin 2017

Stayed one night to visit friends booked a standard twin online and was upgraded to a king sized twin room. Despite some confusion locating the room we found it to be out of this world. The room was big, spacious and airy with comfortable beds. Breakfast was ok with some of the cooked items being on the slight dry side. Would stay here again when next in Nottingham.

"Great service"
Terri B, 30 Mai 2017

The staff were so friendly and were able to find us a room last minute .The staff were so accommodating .The restaurant we had dinner there and the food was lovely at a good price. We didn't have the breakfast as I thought that seemed a bit dear for me.The room was big quiet and clean. The wifi was great and free. The parking is free and could always get a parking spot but they are small spots.I would stay again, near to public transport and in a good location.

"A two night single room stay"
lgmsomerset, 27 Mai 2017

My Sat Nav tried taking me to Mansfield but found the hotel in the end. Conveniently situated just outside the real city centre but only a manageable 15 minute walk in. A large rambling Victorian building which has recently been renovated very tastefully. It does not have air conditioning, but my room had a fan; opening windows is not a problem but the traffic noise is. Do request a room away from the busy main road into town. Lovely breakfasts that take you through the day. Convenient bus stop literally just outside the hotel with busses running every 7 to 10 minutes. Friendly and helpful Reception staff. High level of cleanliness throughout, and, the convenience of parking onsite. It suited me as a single traveller well

"Comfortable one night stay"
Avril P, 26 Mai 2017

Room was small but had everything that it needed, bed was comfortable and luckily there was a fan as it was rather hot. Only one large towel but a phone call to reception and it was soon sorted. Pleasant and helpful staff. Car park was rather full but managed to find a spot. Would stay again as very handy for the centre with the bus stop outside the hotel.

"Meh. it's not the worst hotel in the area"
Andy T, 24 Mai 2017

I'm currently sat in the room on my last night here, it's hot. Very hot. The lack of air con is a definite minus for this hotel. To keep cooler the windows are open but being on busy road it's noisy. It's also apparently the main route for ambulances and police cars, oh and the fire service went past too. and the little gang of lads on off road bikes they'll be back again soon. The hotel has recently been refurbished. badly The carpet is coming away on most of the stairs as it's just been glued on in strips. Parking is, erm, interesting On the plus side the food is pretty good and the staff incredibly friendly and as helpful as possible.

"Good visit"
Nigel C, 19 Mai 2017

Stayed here for work last night. Close to all amenities and local road , tram and rail networks. Hotel on main road so a little noisy at times. Good sized rooms, comfortable and clean but a little dated in places. Great value for money

"very clean and good location"
daisydo25, 17 Mai 2017

We booked the hotel for it's location as we were going to the arena to watch a show, it was a short taxi ride away and the hotel organised the taxi for us. The room was very clean and nicely decorated. There was a pub across the road and a lovely chippy and off license. We will definitely use this hotel again for any future shows

"Booked via Booking.com. WARNING non-refundable bookings!"
Alanrumsey, 14 Mai 2017

Booked one night via Booking.com for last Saturday night. Few Hotels had availability and to be fair I booked with non-refund. However, I cancelled this a week before my stay date and Booking.com said they would pass my reasons - personal family circumstances changed unexpectedly, and there may be a part refund but obviously n Admin fee would apply. The response from Best Western was to offer a transfer of date - I had stated my reason for booking was to attend an ANNUAL reunion! No refund. Today I had a phone message from Best Western to tell me I was a "no show" and would therefore get no refund. I spoke to the Hotel who said they knew nothing about my cancellation a week ago and it must be Booking.com fault! I have told them that I will never stay at another Best western due to customer service/communication - if you use Booking.com as one of your agents, you have a responsibility. I have also told Booking.com I will never use them for sourcing -only one customer but be aware before you trust in the quality of their service - I have just had an email from Booking.com to ask if I stayed or cancelled the booking - RIDICULOUS

"Very noisy."
sheilastuart497, 13 Mai 2017

One night stay to visit family on a Saturday night. Didn't realise we were coming to party central. Very noisy from check in time onwards. Various party groups,'hen nights' etc. No carpet on stairs beside our room so noisy when people going up or down stairs. Doors banging as no soft closes on them. Not a pleasant stay.

"Nothing special but OK"
Suzanne D, 13 Mai 2017

Medium priced but we had he noisiest room I have every stayed in and therefore had no sleep. Traffic on main road and the bottlebank collection just outside, people shouting in the main street. I did complain about this at reception the next morning but all I was told is that I should have asked for a room change! -Really, at 3a.m. We also only had one towel in the bath room for two us. Chairs were really uncomfortable and worn. However, the breakfast was ok and the hotel was very handy for the town centre which would be walkable for the fit but the buses are very regular - every couple of minutes - but you need the correct money as they do not give change.

"Friendly staff, good breakfast but extremely cold room with no heating!"
Fallen_Perseid, 11 Mai 2017

The hotel was easy to find and had plenty of parking available. The reception / bar staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was excellent, however, our room was disappointing. We were on the ground floor around the back of the hotel (up and down stairs) and it was so cold! There was no heating in the room despite the radiator and we ended up having to ask reception to bring us a heater late at night because it felt like we were sitting in a fridge. To be fair, the reception staff brought us an oil-filled radiator within 5 minutes of our request, which we kept overnight. Earlier in the evening, we had the kettle on and were both using hairdryers (actually to try and warm the room up while we were getting ready) and it tripped the electricity switch and cut off the power to all anything plugged in to a wall socket. We had to call reception and the manager appeared within few minutes to fix the problem (with my half-clad sister hiding in the bathroom). The room was a bit dated and had a big damp patch on the ceiling but it did look as though the entire hotel was undergoing a refurbishment that just had not got to our room yet. I thought the hotel was ok and undergoing improvement but we did have a bit of a comedy stay; we only pay £60 for our room for the night though, which was cheaper than other options at the same hotel and all of our friends seemed to have much nicer rooms (at a higher price of course). The bed was comfortable (once the room warmed up) and the bathroom was adequate. Would I stay here again? No...but then I probably won't be going back to Nottingham in a hurry either.

"Better than expected!"
penandrich, 07 Mai 2017

We left it rather late to book a hotel for a Saturday night in Nottingham and ended up booking this one which only has a 3 star rating. We did not expect to be impressed but decided that for a single overnight stay it would not matter. In fact the hotel was very nice. The decor has been recently updated (a few bits of flooring are still being finished) and our room was a good size with a large bed, blackout curtains, large TV, tea and coffee facilities, pristine bathroom with large bath sheet towels (though not thick and fluffy) - pretty close to the facilities that one would expect in a hotel with 4 stars. The small bar is good with a splendid choice of drinks and the evening staff were very friendly and at the same time professional. We did not eat here so cannot comment on any other catering provision.

"City Centre Hotel - fine for a one night stay."
Roy C, 05 Mai 2017

I booked a single room, which was small but adequate, and cost £112.00 for a Saturday night in April. Breakfast was included, and the English Breakfast was excellent- the food was hot and fresh, and the fruit salad was also fresh- not out of a tin! Parts of the building looked a bit run down- carpet missing on some stairs, peeling paintwork etc, but the dining room had been modernised. Staff booked me a taxi when needed - no problem, and a good service.

"A good stay"
Elaine S, 04 Mai 2017

The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was quite small but adequate. Nice powerful shower. Breakfast was in a nice quiet dining room and was very good, with plenty of choice. The hotel has its own carpark .

"Robin of Sherwood meet up part 2"
Annette F, 03 Mai 2017

I was tasked to find a location to host our bi-annual meet up of fans of the 80s TV show.Fans were coming from the UK and Europe. I chose this hotel as it had the better facilities for our needs. The bedrooms were georgous and spacious. We had a member of the cast there, too. On the night it looked like the room would be too small, but there was an overspill so it was fine. The buffet was delicious and the staff were great. The event flowed nicely. The bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was great, too. It's located near enough to the city centre to either walk or catch a bus. Well done The Best Western Westminster Hotel.

"Simply Excellent. "
newcastle74, 01 Mai 2017

Stayed here last weekend for a large meet up of friends. This hotel is lovely. My room was perfect size for me. The bed was lovely and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Bus stop right outside the hotel which is really handy.

"Good for Nottingham races"
shaun l, 26 Avril 2017

Good for the races only 8 pound in taxi room was nice and clean staff helpful and friendly bar ok and cheap .pub and food outlets just outside will be back when I go to races plenty of parking places aswell

"Pit stop- nothing more"
Shavoune M, 15 Avril 2017

Super friendly staff. We got there at 14:30 and because our room wasn't ready they upgraded it. Let me tell you, if our our room was the upgraded one I would hate to see the regular one. Our room was fine it was just not Fantastic. It was pretty shoddy, one random old chair In a corner next to a desk then half an empty room. very odd setup. But the two most important things are the bed and the bathroom and they did not disappoint. That bed was the best fricken bed I ever slept in. It was so fricken massive that even when I rolled twice over I still could barely reach my boyfriend. Considering I have a lot of sleepless nights because he basically sleeps ON TOP of me and then we barely touched, makes me want to ask management where they got that bad boy cause I want one for home. The sheets and pillows were also Fantastic, so soft, what an amazing night sleep. There was a bit of noise, woke up at 4pm and then around 7pm with a bunch of drunkards walking around the hotel and then outside our window. You are right on the main road here so if you want peace and quiet this isn't the place, but it isn't that bad for a main road, although I sleep with ear plugs in and my bf was the one who woke up a fair bit. This is the kind of place you go to spend on night on your way to somewhere else, it's basically on a main road, 5-10mins taxi (£6) into Nottingham city centre. It's got everything you need for a night but isn't a nice place for a romantic getaway or for more than a couple of nights. Just a bit pokey. All the floor boards and carpet was ripped up just outside our room, I have put pictures up. It's a bit dirty in room. The rest of the hotel looks like a derelict building where they are ripping up carpet and building materials are everywhere. So it's a bit of a hole. But the place is so cheap, the staff so lovely and the bed so amazing that I gotta still give it decent stars. It is what it is. For me, I wanted a one night stay on way up to Peak District and this place was absolutely perfect. 5 stars for my needs. 3 stars for a generaL hotel.

"Best western westminster nottingham"
Renousek C, 09 Avril 2017

Hotel best Western westminster nottingham is 7 bus stops from Motorpoint arena. hotel is after refurbishment but i must say that there is still a lot things to improve. Negatives - we checked in our room sting from smoke/cigarettes!!!! Room downstairs is very close to staff office and u could hear every step and noise from them. Also u could hear other guests which are upstairs / noise from wood parquets. Positives - nice personal , good breakfast (was included with our booking) , wifi , free parking

"Great room and ideal location"
John G, 03 Avril 2017

The hotel kindly let me leave my car parked even though I arrived before check-in. Was able to catch a bus into town (bus stops next door to hotel) and return to check in later. Initially sent to the wrong room, but hotel manager kindly helped carry bags to correct room. On checking out, a member of the house-keeping team kindly offered to carry my case down stairs and to reception. Even though there is currently some building taking place, the place was clean and people very friendly.

"Ok meal"
Karen J, 29 Mars 2017

We visited this hotel for our Mothers Day lunch. It was a last minute decision and this was the only place available at the time we needed. The food was ok. Service a little bit on the slow side but it did the job. We had visited here for my mum's 80th birthday 3 years ago and to be honest I preferred it then compared to now!

"Weekend stay"
lynannmahoney, 22 Mars 2017

Reception staff brill told us everything we needed to no and more ,excellent service rooms were clean and comfy and cosy ,local to pub and food outlets plus a shop for bits you might have forgotten priced reasonably, overall good stay again would return again

"Under renovation, not too bad."
Lee P, 19 Mars 2017

I stayed with my daughter for a cheerleading competition. There was a mix up after check in and the room I was given was still being cleaned. The check in card told me one room but the key was for a different room. The cleaning supervisor sorted the problem and told me this room was better than the original one I had been given. I presume that was because my original room was a single and double and this one had two doubles so was sort of an unofficial upgrade. The bar area and restaurant are very small but I'm pretty sure this is because of the renovation. We had an evening meal which was great and reasonably priced. There is a lidl, an off licence and a pub literally opposite the hotel and it is only a short taxi ride into the city centre. I asked at reception the night before to book me a taxi to the motorpoint arena for 7.30 in the morning and it was there ready and waiting. I even had a call from reception telling me so, (and was only £4 for the taxi to the arena). Breakfast is included but it doesn't start until 7.30 and I had to leave at that time so I can't comment on that. The staff are very professional and friendly. The only reason I gave a 3 star was because of the refurbishment, and also £125 is quite expensive for one night. Not sure if the prices are bumped up for the cheerleading comp, would have to check. Overall, not too bad.

"Worth an over night stay"
Scott M, 26 Novembre 2016

The place itself looks a little run down from the outside and in the corridors but once you're in the room they're pretty modern and well looked after and you get pretty much what you pay for (£70 for a Saturday night stay is reasonably cheap for Nottingham) Couple of things that annoyed me, The room was unbearably hot even without the radiator on, and next doors air con unit was right outside our window and noisy if the window was open, so it was a toss up between warm and quiet or cool and noisy, great. Next, the shower, lovely as it was, it made a noise like drilling a wall (due to some sort of pumping system I presume) this was fine when I had a shower at 5pm, not so much when next door had a shower at 8am the next day, no lay in for us. Other than that, staff were nice, friendly and accommodating and everything else went pretty much as you'd expect.

"Visit to my home town"
Jane1309, 25 Novembre 2016

Haven't been back to Nottingham for a while and booked this hotel on line. I know the area quite well and Mansfield Road is a good place to stay and the position of the hotel makes it ideal for getting a bus into town or a nice walk if the weather is fine. Parking the car can be expensive in the city. The staff are friendly and welcoming and although the hotel is going under extensive renovations at the moment it did not affect our stay at all. We had one of the refurbished rooms and they have been done very tastefully. The room was adequate for the two of us and very warm. Too warm for us at night so we opened the window, but the noise of the fans running kept us awake and the kitchen staff coming in early was another disruption. It made no difference if the window was closed either. Considering the room had been refurbished it was disappointing to see a nasty crack in the sink in the bathroom. Don't stay in room 207 the outlook is a brick wall so felt a bit hemmed in. The breakfast is well worth having and you want for nothing and we ate in the restaurant twice in the evening and the food was excellent and on both occasions our waitress was Maureen and she's excellent nothing was too much trouble. I have to have a gluten free diet and she always checked to see what I could have to eat. Would stat there again, but in a different room.

"Great Location, good hotel"
bambi6938, 22 Novembre 2016

This is in a great location, town centre is 20 mins walk or there is a bus stop right outside the hotel.... rooms were very clean and comfortable and the underfloor heating is great! Staff were really friendly and helpful...didnt eat there so cant comment on food...our only downside was the workmen drilling and hammering at 7.30am which when on a leisure break is not great... would def stay here again... there is a pub and fish and chip shop opposite and 10 mins down road towards town centre is the Lincolnshire Poacher pub, great real ales and food (inc veggie)... would recommend to anyone wanting to explore, has free parking....

"Great value, clean hotel with friendly staff"
LauraSnowSnow, 19 Novembre 2016

We booked 3 double rooms for 6 adults for an overnight stay and we were not disappointed. The hotel staff were very welcoming and friendly. The rooms were clean, warm and came with a large screen wall mounted TV, tea making facilities, ironing board, towels, hair dryer, shower gel and hand wash. The beds were seriously comfy although the pillows were a little hard for some of us. The breakfast was self service and there was an excellent selection from fresh fruit to full English. There is car parking right outside the hotel and the bus stop to the town center is a stones throw from the front door. It's not a modern building so it is a little quirky, squeaky floor boards and loud showers but this did not bother any of us. I feel the staff make a real effort to be friendly and attentive and I would definitely stay here again. I could not fault it.

"Enjoyable stay"
Steve W, 19 Novembre 2016

The staff are really very pleasant and helpful with information. Checking in was easy and the room was very nice. The downside to the bed, comfy as it was, was the pillows. No matter which of the 4 pillows we tried none of them were comfortable to lie on. These pillows are foam and seem to have balled and hardened creating a lumpy hard pillow. The room had everything you needed. Breakfast was a pleasure, with a very good choice of food. The young man greeting you at breakfast was very attentive and tidied up really quickly, without being intrusive. Overall, we enjoyed staying here and would recommend it. We had 3 rooms booked for our group and, pillows not withstanding, all of us thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

"Perfect"
Fawn G, 16 Novembre 2016

Stayed for one night on the Friday as we were going to The Brickworks. The hotel room was clean, and had everything we needed. A little bit small but it was good. The lady on reception on the Friday night was lovely! And the night porter was sound. Got late check out at twelve for free. Really enjoyed our stay and will be staying again when we have another night in Nottingham!

"Great location."
Adrian B, 15 Novembre 2016

First impressions of the hotel on entering is very clean, well presented. Pleasant staff checking you in and a spacious well equipped en-suite room. The location is perfect for visiting Nottingham city centre or if you're going to a concert at the Motor point arena, just a five minute bus ride or fifteen minutes walk away. Good check in and out times, and a great choice of breakfast in the morning.

"Don't go out. Very good restaura"
G4750HFRobert_A, 15 Novembre 2016

Stayed for 2 nights Double room for single occupancy Would have liked a bath instead of a shower Had fish and chips Superb Then cheese and biscuits Superb All freshly made Not frozen Will highly reccomend Will return

"Basic, good value business hotel."
Murrick, 15 Novembre 2016

So, you wouldn't go here for your honeymoon and it's a 20 minute walk to the touristy bits. Though in fact there's lots of buses, and I enjoyed the walk in and out of Nottingham. This is a very business type hotel, but at the cheaper end - sales reps and van drivers. Breakfast was ok, loads of parking, the hotel is noisy though. I was at the back which was fine, but when the guy in the room next door got up his shower fan sounded like a turbine... I'd happily stay here again, a good place to lay my head, but manage your expectations!

"Improving all the time"
Warwick A, 15 Novembre 2016

I've stayed here a few times & it keeps improving. Certainly the surrounding area is definitely on the up with new restaurants, brew houses (small ones) & an array of shops / take aways. I stayed in a really pleasant room that looked like it had been updated (again since previous visits). It's a small thing & indeed picky but the doors have now been replaced with good quality solid wood doors & not dated heavily varnished hollow doors! Great improvement & what a difference it makes. For the price, I would definitely stay here again without question. Thank you.

"Comfy and warm."
Julie F, 14 Novembre 2016

Hotel was comfortable and warm also very clean. The only thing I will say is that anchoring the shower gel stuff to the wall makes it very hard to use if you want a bath and there is no separate shampoo. But apart from that everything else was fine

"Good Value"
Peter_Ingamells, 09 Novembre 2016

This is a basic good quality value hotel. I stayed here for Saturday night only. The car park was of a decent size but nevertheless was quite full. The reception staff were friendly and efficient. The room I was in seemed to have recently been refurbished and although small was quite nice. It had tea and coffee facilities, free wifi and sufficient power outlets for charging devices. The bathroom was tiny however, so much so that you could stand on one spot to do everything and it was a little difficult getting in and out of the bath / shower. The breakfast buffet was was good and kippers available on request.

"Noisy rooms, good 58 bus to city!"
Chloe M, 09 Novembre 2016

Room at front, Mansfield Road, gets traffic noise. Next night moved to a room at side, intermittent generator made loud noise. Otherwise, all fine, excellent bus service. Opposite good eateries, Co-op up the road to buy fresh rolls for breakfast. Pity about the noise.

"Excellent stay"
Shannen G, 07 Novembre 2016

I stayed in this hotel for a week, I needed somewhere to stay whilst I was a course. This hotel was a very good price and close to everywhere I needed to go. When I arrived I couldn't fault it in anyway. It was clean (immaculate) and comfortable. The staff were very polite and would do anything help and make you feel welcome. I ate in the restaurant most nights and also had breakfast there in the mornings. The food was amazing and again reasonably priced. The rooms had everything you needed was also very modern too. Lovely stay, would definitely recommend and would definitely stay again.

"Functional large B & B"
Mike0210, 02 Novembre 2016

Stayed here for one night and it was ok. Small room with ironing board literally jammed into the wardrobe - had to deconstruct the rail to get it out! tea / coffee available in the room. Check in / out very quick. It really has the feel of a large B & B. Free parking is a bonus though can be a challenge at busy times. Probably wouldnt stay here again as its a bit out of the way for my location, quite expensive for what it is.

"Great value"
131Steph, 31 Octobre 2016

Couldn't fault this hotel. Nice clean comfortable bed, modern bathroom and good breakfast. There's plenty of parking outside and shops, restaurants and a pub nearby. The fish restaurant opposite is very good. I've stayed in several hotels in Nottingham and pound for pound I'd say this is the best one.

"Good stay"
Hazel T, 28 Octobre 2016

Very pleased with the room and facilities. Cleanliness was superb. Will definitely stay again when in Nottingham. Working for a Best Western hotel I had no doubt it would be good. The ONLY issue I had was the compact parking facility but it wasn't a huge problem

"Good location, excellent value"
David A, 26 Octobre 2016

We always stay here when we visit Nottingham so it has got to be good. The staff are always very helpful, we often get a free room upgrade once I show my BW rewards card. Most of the rooms are very comfortable, the king size beds are wonderful for a good nights sleep. The hotel restuarant is excellent value, £14.95 for two courses inc a glass of wine, nice food too. There is some investment going on in upgrading the rooms, the hotel needs it. The location is excellent, just a mile or so from the City centre or a 10 min walk to the poacher - one of the best ale pubs in Nottingham. Yes, we love the Westminster hotel.

"Good value"
FionaBM, 25 Octobre 2016

We stayed at this hotel for two nights and found it clean and comfortable - it's not the Ritz but has all the basic necessities. There are plenty of buses outside the hotel going into the town centre, but we chose to walk which took around 20 minutes. There are pubs, restaurants and a convenience store nearby. Our room (316) was on the small side, but provided a comfortable base from which to explore the city. It has a television, hairdryer and tea and coffee facility with complimentary biscuits, and the ensuite has a bath and shower with decent water pressure. We booked through booking.com which gave us a reasonable price, but did not include breakfast so cannot comment on the food. The hotel has free wifi - the password for which can be found by asking at reception - it might be easier if they included it in the room information guide in the future.

"Nice Stay!"
lovingthetravelingli, 23 Octobre 2016

We had a room on the second floor (200s). It was really up-to-date, clean, and comfortable. The bed was excellent; the shower was hot with good pressure; there is plenty of space in the room evenwith two double beds. The washroom is in the room but around a bit of a corner, which makes it seem even more roomy. We did wonder if maybe we were above the kitchen as there was a bit of muted-banging going on for a couple of hours from 7:30 or 8:00ish. At first we thought the noise was doors closing on the floor but definitely not with that frequency. We didn't actually mention this at check-out as we were in a bit of a rush after a later start than we'd wanted; although, I would imagine if we had, at that time or even the night before, they would have been helpful. The front desk staff at check-in and check-out and the woman at breakfast were extremely friendly and welcoming. There is a pub super close (of course) and a couple of shops across the street, so it's easy to walk over if you need something. There is also a bus stop that's just a short distance, so it's pretty convenient. Despite this, it is really quiet overnight (once our mysterious noises stopped around 10). I would definitely stay here again!

"Good menu, good food"
poggy497, 18 Octobre 2016

I often stay here when away for work. Occasionally the food can be hit or miss. However over the last 18 months, all has been good, so looks like everything is on track. If tonight is anything to go by it is. Food was delicious. Ham Hock n Black Pudding Terrine followed by Chicken Breast served on spiced lentils, potato's, n spinach +glass of wine for £14.95. Delicious

"Good value but poor internet"
Ian T, 18 Octobre 2016

Would not stay here while on business. The Internet quality would drive me wild. Terminal in reception hall is not private enough and room WiFi is poor. However, it's clean tidy and breakfast is good. Floors very creeky. Avoid rooms close to stair junctions.

"Over night stop over"
cookiePaddockwood, 17 Octobre 2016

Hotel in a good location bus stop right outside takes ten mins into town. rooms are a good size and has all u would want. I booked this hotel as there was free car parking when we arrivead there was plenty of spaces.

"Good place"
_waink65, 15 Octobre 2016

Good rooms, great onsite parking, great breakfast, lovely staff, great location just far enough from town centre, good transport links right outside front door. Shop and pub in immediate vicinity. Love staying here good all rounder.

"Get what you pay for"
Beth A, 14 Octobre 2016

Admittedly, I was only in town one night, so I was scouting for a bargain. The upside is that I had a shower, a comfortable bed, and helpful staff at the desk. The downsides were relatively small but added up to make the whole experience mediocre at best. Hot water is not regulated, which resulted in a painful burn to my hands. The bathroom apparently was not cleaned as there was a razor cover and dabs of tissue left on the sink, and no shampoo/soaps restocked. Noise was also an impediment to sleep: floors are creaky, walls are thin, and the neighbor's shower sounds like a train rolling by (water pump?). My room was in the back, where all the rooms make a semi-circle around the trash cans and air conditioners. The latter ran continuously, which became white noise through the night. This is a bit out of town, but transportation is easy in Notts and the front desk staff helped with taxis as needed. However, in the future, I will buck up another 10 or 20 pounds and stay at a cleaner, more updated hotel.

"For one night only"
romeyjae, 11 Octobre 2016

Reception and bar looks a bit dated but clean. We was told our room was on second floor. Go in lift turn left went you get out and go up a few stairs, its a good job we wernt disabled it was like a rabbit warren and four small flights of stairs with corridors turning left then straight on then left again a bit of a treck . The room was small but clean and had everthing you would need, iron/ board, tea coffe and biscuits but the shower was a trickle. We had lunch in the bar which was very nice and had breakfast which was also nice one thing i forgot to mention is the floor boards what a noise in the corridors when people are walking past your room, very annoying

"Comfortable, well positioned"
Kevin B, 09 Octobre 2016

Having stayed here around 4 years ago, we tried this hotel again for the Goose Fair weekend. Arriving late on the Friday evening we managed to get a space in the free car park despite the hotel being fully booked. Had a superb Executive room; room was comfortable and quiet. Didn't eat meals apart from breakfasts which were very nice with lots of choice. Used the bar both nights and the service here and overall was very good and friendly The only I did notice was that I thought a couple of the stairs seemed a bit loose and probably need some attention

"Poor Service"
Ant18, 09 Octobre 2016

The room lacked an air con, it had a fan provided.the worst was that the fire alarm sounded around 5:45 on the saturday and when we went downstairs the staff were trying to silence the alarm,m but no information was given to any of the customers. After a few that someone went up the stairs to inform all the other guests there was no fire. We took some of out luggae down to the car around 0900 and when we came back to our room it was being cleaned and we could not get access(checkout was 1100) I expected better service from the best western

"Excellent value"
R T, 09 Octobre 2016

I have stayed a number of times and on every occasion I have found it friendly, comfortable, and clean. Everything works as it should, and it is a much more pleasant experience than a more expensive hotel nearby. The only downside is that the parking is a bit tight, but I managed OK. The front may be a bit noisy, so I requested a room at the back. Overall, it is extremely good value.

"Very nice"
Helen S, 02 Octobre 2016

Enjoyed our stay, comfortable room. Modern and clean. Decent sized bathroom. Nice free biscuits and hot chocolate! Only thing to mention is that it would have been nice if breakfast was a cheaper option, I felt £9.95 was too much.

"£11.50 for two bottles of water!"
Callum B, 02 Octobre 2016

The room had no water. Therefor I woke up trying to grasp the very last element of saliva available in my desert dry mouth. I frantically phoned reception as the essence of kebab meat raced around my sinuses with a vengeance only to be told it would cost £11.50 for two bottles of water. Yes £11.50! The news polluted my ears like a dose of Cliff Richard's 'Summer Holiday'. I imagine it must be holy water from the glaciers of Greenland for that price. Ludicrous. But I survived.

"sport trip"
ac-canadian, 22 Septembre 2016

easy to get too great location for everything-food-drink-transportation -Great staff very friendly and wanting to help in any way bus stop right outside easy to use as its gps for next bus. 2 Pubs and 2-grocery store 1-liquor store and with in 50 yards can not beat it

"Budget friendly"
Madelyn J, 16 Septembre 2016

This hotel is very tired, needs new carpets, painting inside. Room was a good size and is tidy, nice bikkies to have with a cuppa, nice roomy bathroom. Close to eateries and 2 miles from central Nottingham. Price wise, it's reasonably priced.

"Food ok but service not good and rooms small"
Meldleisure, 13 Septembre 2016

We were a County Bowls group of around 50 men and women playing bowls against Clubs in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire and stayed for 4 nights in early September. Rooms were very hot, despite the outside temperature being warm at best, and were mostly small/very small but were clean. Eating saw 50 of us packed shoulder to shoulder so closely that plates, etc. had to be passed by guests back and fore to the 7 diners on each side. Service took a great deal of time and on the first evening it was an hour before the main course was served and the 3 courses each evening took at least 2 hours. Breakfast was little better and it was all a very uncomfortable experience although the food was good. Very little

"Lovely room and very helpful staff "
LAHOGAN216, 12 Septembre 2016

Lina booked us in at The Best Western Westminster in Nottingham. There's kind of a crazy layout but the rooms are spacious and comfortable. It didn't take us long to work out the route back to the front door. It is very well located for travelers, only 15mins to Sherwood Forest and a few minutes into the city centre by car. There is a coin laundrette in the group of shops opposite, an off licence, a good choice of restaurants in the area including one in the hotel. We ate at the fabulous little fish and chip shop across the road. Another place we would recommend. Lina was very helpful when we made enquiries about sights to see and the best route to get to them. She is a credit to her employer. Keep The Best Western in mind if you are coming to Nottingham. Anne and John Hogan melbourne Australian

"Could not be more helpful"
the_visiting_monkey, 09 Septembre 2016

My wife and I arrived at the hotel at half 10 at night with our 3 year old and 2 month old sons both fast asleep in the car. Check in was very quick and easy but a mistake during booking meant the hotel had given us a twin room, rather than the double double I had booked. No worries; the mistake was quickly sorted with a bed brought in and made up for my eldest within 5 minutes and the twin beds made into a Super King size. Fir me youngest, I've never stayed in a hotel that has made such and effort to make a travel cot comfortable. I'm writing this having woken up after the best night's sleep all of us have had in the last 2 1/2 months. The beds were extremely comfortable and the room well appointed, with aircon that worked effectively and efficiently. In an ideal world, nothing ever goes wrong and mistakes never happen. But the real test of a company is how they react when things do happen. For this reason alone I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in Nottingham, but the beds and the room really do seal that verdict. Thank you and well done.

"Awful"
chickpea53, 05 Septembre 2016

The whole experience of having a meal here was awful.... Would not recommend it to anyone The chef threw a total fit at the waitress when we complained about the food. The manager did try and make amends. He cancelled the whole bill. We were at a birthday party for friends and this was spoiled.

"Great room and location"
Karen A, 04 Septembre 2016

Good value. Right on bus route with loads of buses. Could get all day bus ticket from just outside hotel for £4.50 for a couple or family so was great value. Room nice and modern and clean. Slow shower but okay. Communal areas a bit tired. Friendly staff. Would stay again.

" Business"
Ancolbomber, 02 Septembre 2016

Basic hotel with cold staff small room not so clean just good to a quick stay for business trip...noisy area....parking ...is an adventure....breakfast not so bad....nothing to remark ...if you don't have any better alternative at an average cost than use it....

"not good"
KJCLiverpool, 30 Août 2016

We stayed for one night as a stop over on a long trip. Positives - the staff were great and our room was huge (101). Dinner was OK, we had the set menu which was good value. The main bed was comfortable. Free parking, although its a bit tight. Negatives - the room had an awful smell of damp. The bathroom was in need of updating. They had given us a camp bed for our 8 year old, which was broken with the mattress no more than a sun lounger cover (see pics). He ended up sharing our bed.

"Great value hotel and location "
emma_bchnn, 29 Août 2016

Stayed here for 2 nights, big room and comfy beds. Booked a single bed for my 9 year old but when I arrived there was one of those awful slatted camp beds (note kids wake up a lot on these) but they quickly changed it on request for a single bed with a Sealy mattress. Room was not one of the refurbished rooms but it was very clean and had a good tv, air-con and a great shower. The breakfast was good and included in the price. Friendly staff. This hotel is also on a great bus route (stop right outside hotel) and you can straight into town in 10 minutes. Over summer we benefited from a group rider day ticket for only £4.50. Visiting the National Video Game Arcade is a must if you are staying in Nottingham. Will definitely stay in this hotel again.

"Great staff"
COLIN B, 13 Août 2016

Just got back from a couple of days sightseeing in Nottingham stayed at this hotel can't fault it lovely room excellent breakfast very friendly and helpful staff especially the lady who serviced our room would definitely return

"Home from Home"
O4258PWbrians, 07 Août 2016

I have stayed at the Westminster Best Western on several occasions now. The hotel has just had new room doors installed and also new beds. I have always been very comfortable and very welcomed by all the staff when staying here. For me it's like home from home, a good location for my business activities and no issues parking at the hotel. Thanks to all the staff for looking after me, I look forward to seeing you all again in the forseeable future.

"Synergy meeting "
Chris H, 05 Août 2016

This is an excellent hotel. Its clean and com, the staff are friendly and the breakfast is excellent... My networking group Synergy meet here every week now. So I get a plateful of the excellent sausages at least once a week. That really is all you need from a city hotel.

"The hottest room"
Sean M, 03 Août 2016

Good location and an ok hotel. Clean and very friendly staff. Breakfast is great and a decent bar too. The issue which would only arise I guess during periods of weather is the unbearable room temperatures. I have never experienced anything like it. The room did have a plug in fan but that did little to help. The room had a window but positioning of bed and room meant it made little difference. A bad nights sleep. However I understand a lot of hotels would have struggled in the heat although room layout made things worse here.

"comfort, cleanliness"
Shireen S, 03 Août 2016

Comfortable, comfortable bed, easy internet access, easy parking. Friendly staff. Booked last minute with ease. Close to shopping centre, close to family we were visiting. Bathroom spacious, shower nice.

"Perfect Venue for me"
Mike Y, 29 Juillet 2016

Only stopped there for 1 night but I arrived early afternoon and my room was available so I used the free wifi and worked in the lounge where I wasn't disturbed at all. The staff were all very happy and friendly nothing was too much effort for me. I booked a table for an evening meal where I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the meal, it was fantastic and the selection of wines they had was spot on. My room was very clean and tidy, the coffee making facilities came in handy and I even got hot chocolate and biscuits. For a hotel on the main road and my room faced it I could hardly hear the traffic and had a very good nights sleep. I would stay there again, no problem

"Pleasant hotel"
Jayne B, 28 Juillet 2016

Pleasant hotel, very large room, would suit a family. Had air conditioning which was a pleasant surprise on one of the hottest days we'd had. Staff are friendly and helpful. The breakfast is very good and plenty of choice. We had an evening meal and chose the £15 wine and dine menu, 3 courses plus a glass of wine. This was excellent value and the food was gorgeous, plenty of it too. I only gave a rating of 4 as it is in need of a little updating but everywhere was clean and tidy.

"Not the best location and a little dated."
Madelaine_Freya, 27 Juillet 2016

I stayed here with my partner for graduation, the location wasn't in great distance of the city as advertised, we had to taxi to and from. The noise of traffic outside kept us both awake all night. We were upgraded to a 'superior' room which caused us to wonder what a standard room would look like as there was nothing superior about this room. The bathroom made us feel very uneasy as with the light on at night the room was very exposed and facing a main road with barely frosted windows and a transparent mesh net. There was only a feathered duvet in the room which is luxury for winter but not muggy heat in the summer with no air conditioning. You couldn't open the windows for noise outside and you couldn't feel the fan whatsoever as there was only one plug socket in the whole room situated on the desk with a wire too short to pull closer. The hotel was quite dated and very creaky due to its age, the elevator was most dated and a little disconcerting inside. Overall I believe the hotel wasn't great value at all.

"Convenient location"
Ken S, 26 Juillet 2016

There is a reasonably sized car park right outside the front door of the hotel. There are lots of stairs though, both to get into reception and to get to your room. The lift doesn't visit every floor. The place is a bit of a maze to be honest. The floorboards are very creaky throughout but surpringsingly the hotel was very quiet once we were in the room. The room itself was spacious and well appointed for a hotel in this price bracket. There is even air-conditioning. Both shower and bath available. The hot water tap in the basin was a bit tempremental and the toilet flush was...well, quaint! The staff we met were friendly and helpful, including the lad who brought room service. The burger though was cremated and inedible, though the chips and salad were good. There are a few restaurants nearby but right across the road is a fantastic fish and chip shop/restaurant which is well worth the 10-15 wait as everything is cooked to order and you will have to queue. There is a bus stop right outside the hotel which takes you straight to the city centre in about 10 minutes. It is walkable for the adventurous. All-in-all for the price, the hotel is good value and I'd be happy to stay again.

"This is ok"
Mrsr2003, 24 Juillet 2016

Stayed here recently for a business trip and it was ok, not memorable but good enough for me to go back to if I'm in the area again Rooms were pretty small, but comfortable and clean The building itself is very old, some work has been done but a lot more needed especially with the lift- it's had it I think, so have some of the stair cases Food is very good- very reasonable priced and decent portion sizes I will go back at some point and I would recommend as a cheap and cheerful midweek fix

"Value for money stay"
paul s, 20 Juillet 2016

We have just returned from a 2 night stay at this hotel. We pre-booked and pre- paid well in advance for a stay to attend the graduation ceremony of my step daughter. Upon arrival we were informed that the pre-payment had not gone through at the time of booking and payment was required which we hadn't budgeted for as we always like to pay in advance it was a real disappointment. I feel the hotel should have contacted us at the time we booked to let us know and made sure the payment was accepted, however the receptionist was understanding and helpful. The hotel is in a good location and the rooms are clean if a little small. All members of staff were very polite and helpful and there was a good selection at breakfast and the food was good. All in all this hotel is well worth a visit and is very good value for money.

"Ok for an overnighter"
Sally M, 19 Juillet 2016

Not a bad motel for a quick overnight stay but I don't think I would want to stay for more than a couple of nights at the most. Our room was small with a very small double bed. I would not want to be above average size and trying to get comfortable in them. The rooms facing the road are quite noisy and with no air-conditioning it was quite noisy. The location is not bad , about a 20 min walk into the centre of town. Breakfast was worth it.

"Friendly and comfortable"
Billiejean39, 16 Juillet 2016

Had a lovely night here. Very welcoming and friendly. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was plentiful (had the cooked breakfast), self service. In the evening we had a drink in the bar and the staff were very friendly Would definitely go back again

"executive room out of date unclean and smelt of smoke"
Tracie C, 13 Juillet 2016

very unhappy with stay. paid for executive room for a bit of luxury. I got a dirty room including dirty toilet. room smelt of smoke. internet never worked. restaurant terrible! would nt stay here again!!

"Rooms improved since last visit"
2_Romantics, 12 Juillet 2016

Still in a great position, still good value still made very welcome. The executive rooms have been upgraded and we were very pleased with our room. The Carrington restaurant provides simple fare at good value BUT no longer takes Gourmet Society cards. A request was made to hotel reception to confirm when they withdrew from the scheme so we could complain to the Gourmet Society as the establishment was still featured on their website. Great pity nobody could be bothered to email us with the answer to our question. Oh well as least we can share this with our readers on TA.

"Cheese Sandwich at midnight"
Yvonne G, 06 Juillet 2016

This was a late booking. Easy to find and plenty of parking. I arrived at 2330 and had nothing to eat all day. I asked where I could get some food and the chappie on reception said he would make me a sandwich. I was expecting a boring sarnie but instead got a huge plate with a lovely cheese sandwich surrounded by salad, crisps and doritos. It was presented really well, just had to have a glass of wine to go with it. My room was ok but couldn't find the TV remote. Bed was comfortable and the ensuite was huge. I was woken up at 2am by girlies shouting in the corridor then about half an hour later someone decided to run a bath and learn to swim. This went on for about an hour and eventually got to sleep about 4.30am. Went for breakfast and had the continental option, ok but nothing special. I checked out and told the receptionist about the noise during the night, she knocked the cost of my wine off the bill and apologised. I would probably stay here again as the staff were so nice.

"Couples Weekend Break Away in Nottingham"
Tanisha V, 05 Juillet 2016

Myself and my partner stayed here last Saturday- Sunday for our first weekend break away as a couple. I initially booked the hotel as it seemed very good value for money and although Best Westerns are not the most modern of hotels (décor wise), they from my experience have always been very comfortable and clean. I emailed the hotel to let them know this was our first break away and when we checked in we had a lovely surprise- we were upgraded to the king suite! It's lovely to have stayed at a hotel which genuinely cared about your stay! The room was lovely, extremely spacious and clean and I believe the king suite costs the same as a standard room in the city centre- so nice to get the extra room for your money. On check in, the reception staff were all very friendly and helpful with our questions regarding which bus to take into town etc (only about 7 minutes bus journey) so that was lovely too! They were also very accommodating when we asked if we could check out an hour later at 12, this wasn't a problem and there was no charge incurred. On the whole, a great experience at the Best Western Westminster Hotel and we would definitely go back! Thank you for being so accommodating! Tanisha Vincent

"Stag party group stay"
richiej1984, 04 Juillet 2016

A group of 12 of us stayed here for two nights while visiting nottingham. Free car parking right outside the front entrance was a welcome site, although the car park was small and parking tight, i had no problem parking all weekend. We had a double room which cost £60 per night.the room was a little on the small side, the double bed took up much of the space which caused a little problem with two boys getting ready for a night out, so may be a big problem for two girls getting ready. The room was clean and tidy but a bit old dated. There was a tv, an iron, ironing board, hairdryer and a kettle ( with a good selection of hot drinks and biscuits which were replaced by the cleaners in the morning). The big issue of the rooms and hotel are how thin the walls are. We could hear our friends talking in their room across the corridor quite clearly when we were in our bed. And could hear plenty more noise and voices clearly from other parts of the hotel and outside. No good if you're a light sleeper! The staff were pretty good to our group and we had no problems with them as you may find in some hotels with stag parties. We did have to sign a disclaimer when checking in say we could be removed from the hotel without refunds if our behaviour become a problem.nothing un-normal there for large groups of boys and stag parties in my experience. Theres one or two pubs and restaurants and take away shops around the area. A taxi into the market square area of Nottingham cost less than £5. It was not the best hotel ive stayed at but it was comfortable, reasonably priced and free car parking is always a bonus and it was located not so far away from the city centre so kept taxi costs down!

"Enjoyable stay in Best Western Westminster Hotel Nottingham"
Brian D, 03 Juillet 2016

We stayed in the Best Western Westminster Hotel in Nottingham and the Hotel was very clean, the food was excellent and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Highly recommended if you are visiting the Nottingham area.

"Dissapointing"
Jmsrs, 03 Juillet 2016

Spent one night here...2 couples in 2 rooms. Rooms are small and dirty. Stains on floors and sheets. Hotel staff that we saw were pleasant even the cleaners that walked in at 9am although we didn't check out until 11!! Lift dirty... Hallway carpets dirty and very noisy. Heard hoovers at 6.30 on a Sunday morning which woke us up! Will not be back

"Okay "
p d, 30 Juin 2016

Stayed here a fair few times now. Rooms are pretty good most recently refurbished and clean. Staff mostly great and helpful. My most recent stay was annoying as I had a room over a small outside area with people talking polish at 4 am outside. Staff I assume! Not acceptable to be woken by this! Generally this place is massively let down by the bar area and reception which is a step back to the 80's and I think untouched since!! The outside is pretty grotty and as first impression counts probably combined with reception puts guests in a negative mind at the start as its not a bad place...

"Positive Age Group"
1960Frances, 29 Juin 2016

The Hotel was excellent. A group of 25 stayed for 4 nights. Rooms were lovely. Breakfast and dinner were excellent. Staff were very friendly and helpful. In particular, Simona who dealt with our initial booking and Maureen who looked after us so well in the restaurant for breakfast and dinner. The manager and all staff were pleasant and available to us when we needed anything. Would definitely go back.

"2 nights lovely stay"
Janet Hailey C, 26 Juin 2016

I was on a visit to Nottingham gender clinic so desided to make a stay off it. The hotel is very clean, lovely rooms and the staff are great .I ate there both nights. There is a variety of prices to suite all. I enjoyed my stay and would recommend highly

"Could have had a lovely stay"
WolfyTrish, 25 Juin 2016

Didn't get the room I booked (2 double beds) was told we had been upgraded to a superior room (smaller). Why? Because at 5.30pm not many of the rooms were ready to be inhabited. It looked like it could have been a nice hotel to stay in but laundry and room rubbish in the corridors choked me off. Looked like a war zone - didn't give a very good first impression. The room was above reception so facing the sun all afternoon. The curtains were open so the room was more like a sweat house - even with the fan on for 13 hours!!!! Should adopt the Travelodge idea of keeping sun facing rooms curtains shut. No option of a sheet - so had to sleep on top of the thick duvet. As on a main road - hardly slept as cars/lorries/revelers/police/ambulances all night. Okay if you are a heavy sleeper - ask for a room at the back. Didn't use the bar, restaurant breakfast facilities so can not comment - it looked well stocked. Evening menu looked expensive. Local amenities - pub, Indian, Munchices, papershop, soon to open chippy and a Lidl (or Aldi - can never remember). Not close enough to city centre for me - so may not revisit.

"Excellent and pleasant service"
SouthShieldsRocky, 19 Juin 2016

Stayed. Last weekend with our County bowling Club. Lovely rooms and helpful staff , the breakfast was excellent and you could eat as much as you like. The doorman was very friendly like the rest of the staff,I will go back to stay here in the near future.

"Comfortable and convenient"
GrahamBackhouse, 16 Juin 2016

I regularly spend one night at a time in a hotel, this was a good choice: friendly warm welcome, comfortable bed, good food and close to the city centre. Corridors compare to a rabbit warren. Very confusing! On the down side the bed was rather small for a double (note pictures are not this room), the room got quite hot, even on a mild English summer night. I had to get out the fan (stored in wardrobe) during the night. Overall decor could do with refreshing. We were a party of three and ate dinner in the restaurant, a good value menu but the food did take a long time to arrive. What I will highlight is that the same two waitresses were working when we retired at 11pm as when we arrived for breakfast at 7am. Not sure when these guys got a decent night's sleep and 8 hours off. My breakfast score: Coffee: 4 Host: 5 Sausages: 4 Vegetarian: 3 Cold selection: 4 Overall 4 out of 5 I've just visited a second time and finished the review. Happy to report I was upgraded to a "King" room, very spacious and massive bed. Perhaps consider booking a larger room if you're a couple. A bonus was a visit at 8am by a man with a hammer who apologised when walking in, closed the door and started hammering outside. Haven't changed the score since 2nd visit, still a good overall experience. Pics are of the King room, 302

"Frankly rough"
Westlands, 14 Juin 2016

I booked 10 minutes before arrival having been in a motorway queue for an hour and then had to find an emergency overnight because the place I had originally booked a couple of miles away had a power cut and no kitchen or chef! On arrival I was informed they have recently had a fire and there is no hot water in some rooms. Fortunately the receptionist moved me and upgraded me to a kingsize (hurrah) which when I got in turned out to smell strongly of cigarettes despite being described as non smoking. By this time, I was 2 hours later than expected and loosing the will to live so chose to go straight to the restaurant and ordered (choosing safe option) fish and chips. Fish from freezer with thick stodgy batter and chips crispy (not in a good way because it was the inside that was crisp). Edible (just) but really feels like English food from the 1970s which is exactly how the decor looks. Best things were the cheerful and helpful staff and the Pinot Grigio which I really needed by 9pm. All above would result in a fair review if it wasn't costing £90 per night!

"Worst hotel I have ever stayed in"
colinac2003, 11 Juin 2016

I stay in a hotel at least 200 night a year and this hotel was the worst ever. I was given wrong directions to my room, which when I found was not much bigger then the single bed in it. The bath panel was cracked, the bathroom had not be cleaned and their were hairs on the toilet. I was woken at 1-45am by doors banging. I rang reception to complain and then went to reception to speak to the duty manager. Nothing was done. In the morning I checked out without breakfast and no refund or even a "sorry". This hotel is also on a busy main road.

"A Pleasant Stay"
lyndon23uk, 11 Juin 2016

The bedroom was a little on the small side but had all of what you would expect to find ( except the clock radio as advertised & it was not on the menu for the TV settings) . Comfortable however be warned there is no air conditioning in the room . The window opened only partially as limiters were fitted . In winter a nice toasty room would be appreciated however my visit was in June so the environment was very warm . There was a large electric fan which was well used by me . The room was cleaned , beds made , & coffee etc replenished. Could have done with a mini fridge as cold drinks bought quickly rose to room temperature. However the bar happily provided an ice bucket . The area about the room was quiet & you could not hear other guests which was pleasant. However the floor boards in the corridors squeeked under foot . Breakfast was hot & varied & those providing service pleasant & helpful . I did not have dinner but the menu was interesting. My wife stayed with me for one night so we went into the city centre. The bus stopped outside the hotel so on boarding we bought a day ticket & saved on city car parking . By the way hotel car parking was free during my stay an absolute joy & uncommon these days. Another plus was within 150 metres of the hotel there was an Indian & I think a Nepalese restaurant. A chip shop which also did pizza . A pub selling real ales & food .A Chinese & West Indian take away. A Co op & I think Aldi supermarket . Plus a number of outdoors selling spirits. For another alternative Park Inn Hotel were I have stayed previously also has a bar & restaurant . So there's lots of alternatives . Would most definitely go again .Will be back in August for the Nottingham Carnival. One more thing on my last morning got the breakfast time mixed up arriving late . The catering staff were great fixing me up a full English breakfast God bless you

"Very Good"
KeithFilms, 08 Juin 2016

I was staying five nights and had a pleasant stay. The rooms are very clean and housekeeping are good. Breakfast was good with plenty of variety and when I ate in during an evening the food tasted 'home-cooked'. The staff were friendly and helpful and a bus stop just outside, with a bus service every few minutes, will take you to the City, so a good location. Car parking was easy, I decided to leave the car every day and get the bus. The car park was often nearly full late afternoon, early evening. Yes, the floor boards do creak, but is part of its charm, but I did not have any problems sleeping. Thanks.

"Wonderful!"
O4258PWbrians, 29 Mai 2016

I have now stayed here on 2 separate occasions both times my stay has been excellent! Caring and friendly staff, really good food, lovely hotel. Rooms are always immaculate - warm - comfortable Looking forward to my next stay!

"Cheap and cheerful "
Aaron B, 28 Mai 2016

The hotel parking was a bit tight it's on the main road with plenty of noise from the street pub and takeaway over the road so easy to get something to eat vans fit in the car park transit style is ok no height issues I didn't eat at the hotel so can't comment but in the morning the doors from the cleaners and guests are noisy

"Spacious rooms in a good location although still requiring further modernisation."
Steve T, 26 Mai 2016

The hotel is set in a good location in Nottingham with a very useful car park out front. Access is a little awkward with steps up to front door (slightly difficult with suitcases) and to the rooms, but this is not unmanageable. The hotel itself is very traditional in its features but is being modernised (New carpets, LED lighting). The rooms we are in were incredibly spacious, however the fact that although the bed looked huge (looked like a superking size) on the surface is was actually two single beds put together which meant that for a single person you couldn't use is properly as you had to sleep on one bed or the other. The food in the restaurant is very good and breakfast was ok. For the price it was very good stay although it still needs a little more work and modernising (espcially bathrooms).

"Good accommodation and value for money"
David B, 20 Mai 2016

We stayed one night and were impressed with the standard of the room which was well appointed and very clean. The bathroom was of a particularly good standard. As we were attending a family celebration in Nottingham we did not use any other services so cannot comment on food quality. we would not hesitate to stay here again.

"Oldfashioned but welcoming"
Stan M, 17 Mai 2016

Arrived to find that our room had sprung a leak, but we were upgraded and very happy with the outcome. Choice is a bit limited - they do not seem to have any twin rooms at ground level (my wife has mobility problems). Overall, its very oldfashioned in furnishing but very clean and wellkempt. Staff are very good, polite and helpful. Breakfast offered a good choice (didnt dine in as visiting family). Convenient location, though carpark is rather messy and in two halves. Some traffic noise but, although there were a lot of guests, never heard them moving around. Will use again.

"Very spatious room"
André O, 17 Mai 2016

Hard working, friendly staff (the hotel is understaffed but the present staff compensates this by hard work and long hours). Rooms were very spatious. Breakfast was good and available at 07.00 hours as promised.

"Family Visit"
Peter T, 15 Mai 2016

Like it says on the tin! Nice comfortable clean room but in desperate need of an update from its 70s decor. Strange lamps and furniture and the bathroom just about adequate but needing a refit. The bar had no cask beers etc. so we just crossed the main road to the excellent Grosvenor pub, where the pub food was superior to the hotel bar fare. However the very friendly and ever smiling staff made up for dated facilities. Good value for money at £229 for two nights and a filling breakfast. Now a Great Western I presume that a full refurbishment will be due shortly. That and the lovely staff would ensure a further visit. Incidentally more than adequate parking.

"Nottingham Stay"
tonjie, 11 Mai 2016

Get past the creaking floorboards and you have a decent hotel that provides value for money, a good location in easy reach of all the resources of Nottingham. Only criticism would be the entrance doors where you have to pull them open. Easy without cases and luggage. The internal door once in the lobby is automatic so the problem vanishes.

"Lovely Staff! Catered well for a vegan."
HappytripperLancaster, 04 Mai 2016

I stayed at this hotel whilst at EM-Con comic convention and was very pleased with the room, the staff and the food. Not only was the room exceptionally comfortable and the staff incredibly polite and friendly, but they also bent over backwards to cater for my dietary needs (I am vegan). Normally hotels struggle with this, but I was made to feel most comfortable and the food that they provided was delicious. Many thanks!

"Average Hotel but Reasonable Price"
CookieBiscuits, 03 Mai 2016

Stayed here on a Bank Holiday Sunday night. The staff were pleasant but the deluxe room wasn't really very deluxe. It was basic and pretty small. The Hotel is well positioned and not very far from the City centre but I wouldn't stay here again as it's extremely noisey. You can hear the other customers moving around and passing in the corridor - It's an old building and all the floor boards make noise :( Shame.

"Large rooms dated common areas"
Olympian1981, 02 Mai 2016

The hotel appears to be going through a bit if a refurb the corridors and communal areas are tired and made me a bit wary however my room was large recently redone and clean. The bed was comfortable. The room was quiet dispose being in the road. The only real let down was the pressure in the shower it was rubbish. For a quick overnight visit at a reasonable price I would recommend however for any longer I would suggest a hotel with better bathroom facilities

"One night stop en route"
barry m, 29 Avril 2016

Hotel is easy to find, fortunately there was one parking space left so that was alright. Reception was friendly and helpful. Room was clean and functional. Not the biggest, but I only booked for a single so was not expecting a penthouse. One of the best features of the hotel is its accessibility to the town centre. I didn't want to drive as I wanted a drink with my meal and I would certainly not walk as it is too far, however, there is a bus stop right outside and the service is frequent and reliable. Breakfast was fine with loads of choice and a constant rotation of the cooked food. The big drawback was the heat of the room. It was like a sauna. It was possible to open a window but it led out onto an accessible flat roof so that was not a great idea. Fortunately, the room had a fan in the cupboard and I left that on all night otherwise it would have been unbearable.

"Central Nottingham"
Paul T, 29 Avril 2016

Good central location for leisure or business with parking which is rare in cities, pleasant restaurant with good food choices, friendly, professional staff and good size comfortable rooms. Excellent value

"Reasonable rooms, difficult parking and layout"
ShrijitJP, 27 Avril 2016

Location is about 20min + walking from the city centre on a good day. It is on the main road so public transport is easily available. Good customer service and very helpful staff on the desk always. Only problems are the parking and the layout. This being an old building, to get to the rooms at the opposite end of the desk, one has to climb up and then go down a flight of stairs at the other end. There is a door at the otehr end, but it is only working as a fire exit and is alarmed. Its difficult particularly if you have some luggage. Also the parking area has different entry for its different sections and on the side of a busy road, it is not easy to try and work your way around it to find a space.

"Overnight stay"
Kirsty T, 25 Avril 2016

We had to go to Nottingham to celebrate our young grandsons birthday . Stayed just one night . Checkin very good very friendly staff, parking on fron of hotel no problem and free to do so. Directed to room 315 despite the lift there were stairs to contend with after getting off the lift so be aware those with mobility issues. Bar area clean, welcoming given advice re where meals served and cut of time on the Sunday evening. We dropped off our bag in our room, small but everything you could want .table two chairs double bed, flat screen TVs coffee and tea making facilities which were plenty and choice wise. Biscuits etc. Loads of towels in the clean bathroom with bath and shower over bath. All in all room was clean fresh, not a fab view though of a flat roof and other rooms opposite if you looked to your right you could see the traffic up and down the busy Mansfield road, so a little noisy with the window open. Only problem we found negative with room, is how hot it was and seemingly no control to turn it off and noisy with window open. We went back out after our check in and came in just before 9pm we had been busy all day so the bar looked very inviting. The barman didn't have any fruit cider but allowed me a taste of the draft cider, which was nice. We sat in the comfy tub chairs and looked occasionally at the large screen tv that was there if wanted . We were mainly checking out emails etc with the free wifi. All in all we were enjoying the relaxing until a bunch of guys came into the bar. They were clearly contractors who were staying in the hotel. They were fairly well oiled if you understand my meaning, we ended up leaving the bar area and retreating to our room with drinks . The language they were using loudly was vulgar , disgusting and very derogatory towards women. We did say at reception we felt forced to leave the bar area. We also enquires if there rooms were near to ours as we didn't want to listen to such language in our room. Luckily she advised they were not near us, if they had been we would likely to have asked for another room.. Reception advised she would speak to their company the following day, I do hope she did , as it certainly put us off sitting in the bar. We had requested a wake up call which was delivered on time. Went down for breakfast , some of the continental items were offered buffet style, toaster, juice , coffee machine, jams cereals , fruit, ham, cheese, pan chocolate, croissants. Then the menu where you could order full breakfast, boiled, poached , scrambled eggs, kippers . My hubby had full breakfast which comprised of sausage which he said were tasty bacon, scrambled eggs, mushroom, hash brown and a ramikin of baked beans. I ordered 3 boiled eggs 5 minutes cooked. All food arrived together and we were asked if every thing was to our liking. Overall good quality breakfast, plenty of choice. All in all our experience of this hotel was good just marred by the clientele that are obviously contractors staying at the hotel and there filthy mouths which ruined our evening.

"Very average hotel that has progressively deteriorated"
DrNFY, 18 Avril 2016

I have stayed at this hotel several times before but it has progressively deteriorated. My room was a tiny so called “double room” that overlooked a “tip yard”. The carpet was dirty and had not been vacuumed. The hotel receptionist was a young girl who seemed to think that “politeness” is a foreign word. The duty manager was rude and didn't seem to care. I completed a survey that was sent to me and pointed out the shortcomings of this hotel. I gave poor ratings for several aspects of the hotel. I received an immediate response from a person who said he was the owner (Al Malik). Instead of dealing with the problems that I outlined, he had the audacity to accuse me of being aggressive to his staff when in fact they were rude to me. What else can I say? Well, don't stay at this hotel. Dr NFY

"Average at best"
Tony I, 18 Avril 2016

The hotel looks good online and had the availability but upon arrival we found that it had the family b&b feel without the charm, half the time the lift wasn't working and I also found out that my friends sheets were soiled.

"Ok. Just ok. "
elenorrigby1, 17 Avril 2016

I booked this hotel on location as we were out at a birthday party nearby. We arrived late (10pm) due to an awful drive due to the M25 and horrendous weather. The receptionist was lovely. Room is a bit of a trek along the corridor and squeaky faded carpet. However the room was ok. Spacious enough for 2 nights. Bed was only a queen (sorry I'm used to King at home so it was a bit of a squeeze) but lovely and clean. Water pressure fabulous and dammed hot. Decent proper size hair dryer and proper kettle with tea coffee and biscuits. Breakfast wasn't all that to be honest. Fruit and cereals and croissants great. Cooked had clearly been on the hotplate too long. The bacon was flaccid and eggs were grey. Yes grey! I didn't eat them. The second day we just had continent which was lovely. Avoided the grey eggs. I wish I'd complained but I didn't because I thought the breakfast was included. However we were presented with a bill when we checked out. Weatherspoons would have been better. All in all - a nice hotel. Clean room. Good bathroom. Close to forest rec parkrun and easy walk to town. Free parking. Small bed and crap breakfast.

"Stayed many times, but different this time!"
BMorriss, 16 Avril 2016

Have stayed a number of times over the years and always found the level of service given acceptable to a high standard.on this visit I found it a bit different, not in a bad way. The interaction of the staff had changed in a nice way that I had to ask had the management changed? My room was to a very high standard , clean , bright and warm. Plenty of room to perform a bit of work. Lots of parking space at the front , rear and the sides.Town centre 5 mins away by car or from the bus stop outside the front door. For the football fans there a pub across the road showing BT and Sky.

"dust"
Lynn F, 14 Avril 2016

welcome was okay!! we were told our room was not ready at 3pm even though my confirmation said it would be by 2pm, so there for we were given room 108 looking onto brick wall, the room was dusty on bed head and in lamp shades radiator. I complained to reception on leaving. we had a meal on the evening which was good. we have been to a lot of best westerns and have reward card.

"great location"
kpenkal, 12 Avril 2016

This hotel was very nice. Staff were very helpful with any questions or requests. Rooms were very clean and nice. Very close to the bus line into town. They did have a place to dine in if needed. Only downside that was the parking was tricky and the room had no mini fridge. Still was a great place to stay would do again.

"Very nice hotel"
57terryv, 09 Avril 2016

We stayed for one night in April. Our room was very clean with comfortable beds and ample pillows. There was a good supply of tea, coffee and milk, also 2 small packets of biscuits. The breakfast which was included in our room rate was first class, plenty of choice and the hot selection was exactly that - piping hot, the restaurant staff were very pleasant. I would like to highly praise the girls on reception for their attentiveness on check in and also going the extra mile by checking attraction opening times and printing us a city map. . WIFI was good in the room. Check the location of the room before accepting it. We were on the first floor accessed by a lift but we then had to walk along a long corridor going up and down small flights of stairs and to reach our room go down a long flight of stairs. "Underwhelmed"
Kazdell, 08 Avril 2016

Made a booking last minute with Booking .com who let us down as I requested via filters wheelchair accessible there are steps to entrance and even though there is a lift there are more stairs from the lift to room 226 which is an executive King room, I was looking for a treat after attending a hospital appt. so booked the best available although I can't say there was anything wrong I expected more from the best on offer room was large had a fridge one up on premier inn but no wow 2 small boxy armchairs a couple of pictures lots of lights and a work desk ?? Bathroom was a good size but again website gave impression there was a walk in shower rather than the usual over bath, why is the toilet right against the wall so you burn your knee on towel rail ? Complimentary toiletries are multi use bottles on wall I expected the usual row of pretty bottles above the sink, Plenty of tea and coffee on offer with nice biscuits spoilt by no bottled water should be free in a high end room, Staff were polite arranged an earlier check in for me pre hospital appt. much appreciated, breakfast was plentiful everything you would want well presented, Could have been persuaded to stay another night but the room didn't do it for me, would stay again in a more accessible room in the future.

"Great Hotel for a great price!"
Amy C, 05 Avril 2016

My partner and I stayed on Friday 1st April as we were going on a night out in nottingham. The room cost around £58 total, which was a bargain compared to some other places. The hotel is roughly a 30min walk from the city centre, but we didnt mind walking in. We got a taxi back which cost around £12. The room was very clean and comfortable! Beds very clean and comfy, had a great nights sleep! Reception staff friendly and helpful. This is the first hotel ive ever stayed in where i haven't heard other people in other rooms or being noisy walking down the corridors! Would highly recommend if you are staying for a night out.

"enjoyed our stay"
peteroaktree, 02 Avril 2016

Booked a three night break at the hotel on an excellent value superior room dinner bed and breakfast rate. Initial thought were the décor was a little out-dated. Though the room was very good, bath was very short for a good soak. Staff were very friendly and helpful on reception and in the bar. The food was very good for the inclusive rate. Three course for £15.00 was a bargain with a reasonable choice and thoroughly enjoyable. One critics was that the service in the restaurant was slow with not enough staff on duty. No problem in parking. Would return to hotel in future if in area.

"Visit to my home town"
lorraine f, 30 Mars 2016

We stayed at this hotel before and found it to be very good for the price! This is the reason we stayed a second time upon arrival in the early hours of the morning check is was great. We were given our room key and told what floor we were on2nd floors down this floor having no lift to get to this floor we thought ok it shouldn't be that bad! Well!!! It was we were on the far side of the hotel and this being I believe a couple of old Victorian houses the levels were up one set of stairs down one up again down again ?? The room was ok?? The pillows were like blocks and the quilt was very flat. The refilling of the tea and coffee was very good. Upon this experience we will ask for a ground floor room in future and hope the bedding as been replaced with new ones. Staff very friendly ??

"Second time around, but a bit disappointed!"
Kev196, 30 Mars 2016

This is our second stay here . We were very impressed last November 2015 and we both love Nottingham so this hotel was fine for us . We had a lovely large room last year, so as we came back for our second visit we were a bit disappointed to be given a much smaller room . The manager offered us two other rooms which were also very small and together would have fitted into the one we had last year. So disappointed with that aspect. Breakfast is very good with a selection of cereals , yogurt, croissants and a buffet for English Breakfast. The bus stop is literally just outside the hotel. £2 into the town centre, or you can walk as it only takes about 30mins . Never had food or a drink there. In the evening we went to the pub across the road called The Grosvenor which was really nice.

"Great stay let down at the end"
DaveyGriff, 30 Mars 2016

Mid week business stay, good value, room comfortable, parking available on a first come basis but still spaces mid evening. Evening meal offer fantastic value (3 courses and a glass of wine £15) and tasty. Only disappointment was an £8.50 charge for a continental breakfast, felt over priced and not a fair approach given the full English cost of £9.50) Went to work running on empty ?? would stay again but leave my self time for a costa. ??

"Another enjoyable Best Western stay"
Jaqpa, 28 Mars 2016

A one night stay with my wife to see relatives Friendly staff A good clean room Plenty to choose from at Breakfast Free parking in the city Evening meal a bit up and down - probably due to a very large party in the dining room

"Excellent staff"
FitziD, 22 Mars 2016

The good: helpful staff and plenty of free parking directly outside the hotel. The room in which I stayed was small but it had a good sized desk and a comfortable bed. The bad: sounds from adjoining bedrooms such as a hairdryer and voices could clearly be heard in the room in which I stayed. Narrow corridors give the hotel a warren-like atmosphere. If this hotel had grandeur at one time, it has now faded. The ugly: the view from the bedroom. A few feet from the bedroom window there was an area in which rubbish was stored. Whilst some bedrooms obviously must have had a much better view, the view from the room in which I stayed was unpleasant.

"Great food and very knowledgeable chef 'Mark""
Jonathan W, 22 Mars 2016

Had a great evening with my wife had a very well presented chicken dish, on a bed a buttered green beans which was to die for cart rate this enough. Got the recipe from the chef himself an absolute asset to the company great work Mark

"Quality Stay"
David W, 20 Mars 2016

This Hotel is to be recommended. The location and quality of the facilities is excellent. The Staff are extremely polite, friendly and very helpful. The breakfast is especially good in both selection and quality.

"Not in the top 50 Best western hotels"
kate g, 06 Mars 2016

I do not rate this hotel and normally I love Best Western hotel chain, But is it the fault of the hotel or the changes Best Western as made to it rewards program. If it's the latter I will be going back to Wyndham rewards

"Fantastic staff"
Gillian485, 04 Mars 2016

The hotel is located in a ideal position, not far from shops and the city centre. The hotel is old and some of the floors are creaky, but that's to be expected. We had a lovely clean ample room, with 2 pillows each (very rare these days), we normally have to request as usually only get one. The best thing about this hotel is the staff, they are very friendly and helpful, always smiling. We would definitely recommend this hotel, and we are booking again for May. We never ate here so can't comment, but the bar area is lovely.

"Great value for money"
R V, 01 Mars 2016

Perfect location for visiting Nottingham. Busstop to the centre in front of the hotel. Lidl supermarket close by. Good english and continental breakfast. Friendly and helpful personnel. Fast free wifi internet in the hotel. Thank you for a rememberable stay. We will definitely return !!!

"Don't go here if you are not prepared to wait....and wait....."
B B, 28 Février 2016

Booked this hotel, weeks in advance. Arrived and were given our 4 rooms. When we looked at 3 of them they were rooms with 1 double bed. We had paid for 4 rooms with 2 double beds in each ( ladies of a certain age with aches and pains!) I returned to reception to explain and was told quite categorically that they did not have any rooms available like that and we had one upgraded room with a king size bed! I explained I had paid in advance and was asked for proof- she had the proof of the rate we had paid and therefore what rooms we had paid for. Eventually she said she'd ask someone else, they came along and took ages to get her to finally agree that we could have the rooms we had paid for. However , we would have to wait as they were not ready. The keys had been behind reception the whole time we had been talking and obviously available. A guy was sitting on a PC at reception but told us he didn't work there so couldn't help us. Another customer was meanwhile saying she also had not been given the correct room which she had booked. All 4 of our rooms were spread across a sprawling hotel which had so many flights of stairs and steps to access anywhere that by the time we eventually could get into the rooms with our suitcases I felt as though I had done a workout in the gym! No one was on hand to help with suitcases so if you have any mobility problems please re think before you booking this hotel. A helpful member of staff directed in the direction of a room which was really difficult to find- well hidden! On the other hand a member of the domestic team was incredibly helpful in our search for our choice of place for breakfast. We feel she should be promoted to receptionist as her appearance and demeanour were definitely what you would wish to be greeted by upon check in, instead of the unkempt appearance and surly unhelpful manner we, and others, were greeted by. Emailed Best Western with comments but the response from the hotel was a sorry it did not exceed our expectations! They weren't much- just rooms with beds in which we had paid for!

"No faults"
bluemoon1010, 27 Février 2016

Staff were so friendly on arrival, room was spotless and the beds were so comfy and nice and peaceful at night, breakfast was excellent a great choice of food, the room service menu is brilliant perfect every time. Already booked to go again soon!

"A Great place to stay"
colin f, 26 Février 2016

This Hotel became a second home while I was working on a 3 month contract in Nottingham, and as such gets very high marks. The staff were ALWAYS friendly and helpful, their local knowledge was most helpful. The Hotel is not centrally located, however local public transport and taxi company (that the hotel have well trained) made the City centre easily accessible. There are many and varied local food choices including the hotel's own restaurant. All the rooms I stayed in had TV, Wifi, tea making kit, fully working plumbing and heating as you would expect. I would not hesitate to stay here again or recommend it.

"Fabulous weekend stay"
Michael B, 26 Février 2016

We were looking for a place to stay that we could use again for when we go up to see our son. We stayed for 2 nights and will definitely return. The hotel was bigger than we were expecting and, it had parking, unlike many of the others. The staff were friendly especially Rose in the restaurant, where we had the rather good value evening meal. The room was lovely and clean and the bathroom looked new. The fab breakfast left us full until way past lunchtime. We walked into the city centre which took a leisurely 15 minutes, don't forget we were full of breakfast! There is a bus stop right outside if you're less inclined to walk. We've started a rewards card as well, why not as we'll be going again. Thanks guys.

"Excellent value for a comfortable clean hotel"
Mazzy1953, 24 Février 2016

We stayed for 2 nights whilst visiting our son in Nottingham. We were really impressed with this hotel. Staff were lovely and our room was exceptional especially for the price we paid. We would def stay here again and would highly recommend this hotel. It is ideally placed for a short commute in to town and has lots of amenities nearby. Marilyn & Michael Medhurstma

"First Time Experience"
O4258PWbrians, 21 Février 2016

I usually stay at a Copthorne or Jury's Inn Hotel. As this was business my wife booked me in at the Best Western Nottingham. Like a child I was truculent but stayed anyway. My whole experience was fantastic: Room: Always clean, décor was a high standard. Bathroom: Always clean and SPOTLESS water pressure in my room was a little on the low side but my colleagues said theirs was excellent! Staff: ALWAYS warm and welcoming! ALL OF THEM Renata on reception even got me some shoe cleaning gear which I had forgotten - How Amazing! Restaurant: Staff really attentive and the food was much better then we thought and certainly better then the locality. I asked for Kippers for breakfast - No Fuss and 10 minutes later on my table cooked fresh- That's as good as the other 2 hotels I have mentioned. THANK YOU ONE AND ALL!

"Lovely staff....ok rooms."
Clynton J, 17 Février 2016

Me and my wife stopped here for one night for a family birthday party. We were upgraded due to a wedding going on which was very considerate of them. When we went to leave the room from dropping off our luggage to go grab a bite to eat before getting ready the door on the room wouldn't lock, so the wife had to go alone and I had to wait for the the duty manger. After a few minutes he arrived and could t fix it properly but made it so it did lock. After a little bite to eat due to now losing 15 mins I went to shower to only find out there was no hot water, on contacting reception I was told that only one boiler was working and they were waiting for an engineer (would have been nice to have been informed earlier). The room itself was ok but the bathroom is in need of some serious tlc, looking old and tired. The staff I do have to say we're really lovely helpful and polite and they deserve 5*. We were given a free breakfast to compensate for our problems which was very nice.

"Friendly stay"
PhilipCarman, 15 Février 2016

Stayed for 3 nights in February; staff ever so friendly as we asked for another chair to help with a bad leg and they went out of their way to be helpful. Like other reviews, the decor could do with being updated but the breakfast was nice - did it's job. Only downside I'd say would be the parking as it isn't guaranteed that there'd be a space - especially if very busy. Plus walls are quite thin so could hear person in room next door coughing and speaking loudly on his mobile. However, this wouldn;t put us off staying again as very helpful and pleasant/friendly welcome and staff gave it a "person" aspect. Handy having the bus stop outside as well.

"Needs an update"
JacquiBournemouth, 14 Février 2016

Stayed a few times, the last time being 5 years ago. Is a bit run down now and needs updating. Room wasn't ready on arrival mid afternoon and although the cleaner told reception there was another one available, the receptionist said she was to busy to make the change. After twenty minutes of waiting in the bar the manager apologized for keeping us waiting. We told him what had happened and within five mins we were given the other room. Apart from this the staff were very friendly and helpful. Room large but bathroom needs a better clean. Breakfast not very good for the price.

"Very good value"
Spongeandcustard, 13 Février 2016

When we visited, the rooms had been updated, and only needed new doors. The rest of the hotel in need of a lick of paint and new carpets, but otherwise very good indeed. Very comfortable, very good value for money. Although breakfast isn't really worth the 9.95 charged. Staff pleasant and helpful. We'll stay here again if visiting Nottingham.

"Away with work"
Dwilde1, 10 Février 2016

For the price I can't really complain and when I read some of the poor reviews on here I don't get what they are expecting for the amount however I guess that comes down to how much each person pays. For me this was cheaper than a travel lodge and whereas a travel lodge tends to be clinical in design this is far from that. I would describe it as having character. The hotel is not in the greatest part of Nottingham and I would not really suggest walking around late at night or even walking into the city. Across the road are a few shops and an Lidl all of which make you feel somewhat unsafe when using them. If you do need to head into the city grab a cab or bus. However don't let this detract from the hotel. Inside its warm, clean and sound proof. Staff are friendly and helpful. As I say for the price this is a great little find, would I pay seventy pound or more for this place, absolutely no and there are much better for that price.

"short break"
susanmorrison, 07 Février 2016

the hotel was as allways clean and all the staff were very helpful it is in good position to get to nottingham either by bus or taxi we will be back later in the year good value,we would always reccommend best western

"On The Way Back"
margatekid, 01 Février 2016

Visited this hotel whilst away for a few days as a couple. Cant say the hotel in its present state is in pristine condition but in talking to staff the new owners have got some big plans for the future. The staff tried their best to find us a car parking space as parking [like in most Nottingham hotels] is at a premium and after a little bit of manoeuvring succeeded. Cant recommend this hotel for now but will be interested in returning later in the year.

"Pretty poop. "
Amy H, 30 Janvier 2016

Where do we start... There was a weird smell all around the hotel especially the lift. The room looked absolutely nothing like the pictures. The bed was so uncomfortable; once you finally got to sleep you were awaken by the sound of the emergency services. The "probing lights" were incredibly creaky, annoying and creepy. The extractor fan in the bathroom sounded like a lawnmower. The side of the bath fell off. The sink and plughole were grimy. The flusher in the toilet was difficult to flush. In the room was a box of tissues which had already been used. Ew. However, the lady at reception was attentive and helpful. The television in the room although flickered was large and awesome. The building has an oldness to it that creates a spooky atmosphere which my boyfriend seemed to enjoy... I also liked the fact we get a hot choccy sachet.

"Great value hotel with parking (rare for Nottingham"
sparkyd1966, 28 Janvier 2016

Great hotel, staff very friendly and location is excellent for Nottingham with onsite parking a bonus for this area. Breakfast is particularly good, this was our 3rd visit and will definitely be back !!

"Mr Craig Morley"
Craig M, 26 Janvier 2016

Arrived to find lady on reception on her mobile phone shouting at a another member of staff , and evening meal was absolute disaster ordered a steak medium rare and it was well done could have resoled my shoes with it I got four new potatoes with it and half a raw tomato no sign of any vegetables , The first steak took 43 minutes to arrive yet the second one just 8 minutes this time accompanied by vegetables the peppercorn sauce re heated with a skin on it ,then to add insult to injury the waitress said I will knock the surcharge off you room rate a whole £3 and after an hour I still had not eaten ,I decided to buy a pint of lager from the bar and they had no change at all , after giving up in restaurant I went to a local supermarket and got a sandwich and a drink horrible experience mobile number included if anyone follows this up 07495734209

"Good value for money"
the_gamekeeper, 22 Janvier 2016

I really can't fault this hotel as for a night,it is excellent value for money and only a short bus ride (the bus stops outside the hotel) from the City Centre. This is the third time I have stopped here andThe rooms are clean and tidy if a little small. The staff on reception are friendly and efficient and I have never had trouble parking outside. You can do a lot worse than this good value hotel for a night in Nottingham.

"Stayed a few Times"
Haydn B, 21 Janvier 2016

I working in Nottingham for some years and used this hotel when i went out on work nights out. It has always been good value for money and the rooms have always been to a high standard, a decent size and clean. I would recommend this hotel for a weekend away or overnight for business. A big plus is they have free parking on site which almost unheard of for a hotel in Nottingham.

"Filthy Room"
PieFinderGeneral, 20 Janvier 2016

A real disappointment to the best western brand. I stayed here in business but will not be returning and our company will be looking for another hotel for our staff. The room was not clean and had not been cleaned for some time. There was a raft of cobwebs full of dust in the corners of the room and not just at ceiling height. The bed sheets had stickers on it saying what size it was. Housekeeping clearly not having any attention to detail. Given the bedroom is a public facing room in the hotel then who knows what state the kitchens are in. I could not eat breakfast in the hotel given the cleanliness of the place. One star rating is over generous for this hotel.

"Good Parking, Friendly Staff, Weird Floorplan"
Brandon D, 17 Janvier 2016

Everyone in the hotel staff was friendly and the wifi was good. We easily found a parking space as well. The hotel floorplan was odd, and it was kinda a maze to get to our room, but very doable. We were comfortable and satisfied. :)

"Nottingham in January"
Rachel E, 12 Janvier 2016

Really good hotel for the price we paid (£45) for a couple in a double room with Breakfast. Nice enough interior. Shame about the floorboards though you cant walk around the room without a horrendous creaking you get a complex that youre annoying other guests or even your own wife ! Nice staff though So all in all a nice hotel

"Convenient and cheap"
Twinsliders, 09 Janvier 2016

If you are looking for a place to stay near to the town centre for a night then this is ideal. Free parking, breakfast optional, bus stop outside and reasonable prices. The room itself was clean, recently modernised and comfortable. Of course there were niggles like the inch gap at the bottom of the door but for the price I can live with minor complaints like that. We ate in the restaurant in the evening purely to save time but shouldn't have bothered - staff were disorganised, food was odd in terms of taste and presentation and the special was out of stock. Bar staff friendly but could do with training as they didn't even offer us a glass with the bottled cider. Receptionist was very helpful sorting our taxi out and we would stay again for a handy stopover but not for a holiday or occasion.

"Couldn't fault"
Carl B, 06 Janvier 2016

Was given a very nice, spacious room and enjoyed the breakfast. Staff all friendly and helpful. Bit of 'up and down' short flights of stairs but nothing serious. Linen lorry doing it's' vehicle reversing' warning outside the window at 7.30 a bit annoying, but wasn't for long. |All in all, pleasant stay and well situated for city centre.

"Could Be Better"
MaxiMuscleGirl, 01 Janvier 2016

I have stayed here a few times now and each experience has been different. On this occasion, there was some confusion about what type of booking I made…...even though I made the reservation 3 weeks before my arrival. In the end I had to show the receptionist my online confirmation. I was then moved out of the single room, and into a double room which I originally requested. Breakfast was very nice and piping hot, as was dinner when I ordered room service. I had the bacon and cheese burger with chips, but it didn't look like there was a full portion. I don't think that was worth £9.50 really. Checking out was quicker and easier than checking in. The whole experience was ok, but it could have been a whole lot better. If you want a late check out, then you can stay until 12pm without being charged extra. Any time after that, and it's £20. I stayed for 2 nights just after Christmas.

"Disappointing footnote "
crouchie1964, 31 Décembre 2015

I visited this hotel in July and booked two rooms for two nights. The mate I travelled with cancelled the second night and was told this booking would be refunded. When I checked out the following morning I too was told this sum would be refunded. Unfortunately no refund was made and when I queried it with them they told me no refund was due. They said they would investigate and come back to me. Alas no further contact has been made nor has my money been refunded. If such a promise is made I suggest you get it before your leavesecondnight and

"Very pleasant stay."
G C, 31 Décembre 2015

Have stayed at this particular hotel several times, to be near family and have always been pleased with the level of service. The staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are attractive and comfortable and the restaurant provides a good mchoicwe of evening meal and breakfast.

"Good value."
Paddy F, 28 Décembre 2015

Second stay at this hotel, this time booked it late on and got it for £40.50 for a twin room on a room only basis, I think it was an extra £4 for the breakfast ,anyway good value imo, the reason I booked this hotel and not one in the centre is because the parking is free [as it should be] and there is a bus stop right outside the hotel front door, buses run every few minutes even on Sundays and it's only £2 into town a taxi back is £5. The room again was spacious with the usual extras [hair dryer, ironing board ] tea / coffee , and two double beds, a good stay at the right price.

"Room was value for money,"
Gareth T, 18 Décembre 2015

As a base for central Nottingham it was good. We attended a concert at the areana and it was about 10min ride. (Circa £8). The hotel was clean and tidy as were the rooms with the usual ammenities of a 3 star hotel. We didn't eat in the hotel as it would have been a bar meal. What did let it down was the bar area. We had a couple of drinks before heading out no issues, On returning though, before 11.00pm Only 4 people in, tv v loud, language was more than a bit colourful, Clearly they'd been there a while but the table hadn't been cleared. Other tables still had dirty glasses and rubbish left, Was extremely unhappy the way the my wifes wine was dispensed. She says the barman put ice in the glass and then poured in unmeasured wine. Not acceptable. Overall though not a bad place.

"Not Best Westerns usual quality"
sue d, 17 Décembre 2015

We have passed this hotel many times when we lived in Nottingham and always thought how nice it looked , so when we needed a hotel for 4 nights it seemed the obvious choice . When we arrive the receptionist carried on writing / filing for a while before she even acknowledged us.......not a good start . The bedroom , although quite small was clean and the bathroom was nice . There was plenty of tea / coffee etc . However , there were holes in the net curtain and the large window did not close . We asked the non forthcoming receptionist if the window was always on ventilation , we were told no it wasn't and someone would sort the problem out for us , no one did . That night the wind got up and the noise from the non closing window was so bad we had to cram newspaper in the huge gaps . The following morning we spoke to another receptionist and was told yet again someone would fix it..........yet again no one came so we had to leave the crammed newspaper in the gaps for the whole of our stay , not good at all !!!! The carpets in the corridors weren't good , ranging from dirty to worn . Most of the reception staff weren't friendly either , they didn't look at you or speak when you entered or left the hotel . It's a pity as the hotel is in a good location , you don't need to use your car as buses are frequent . Needless to say we won't be back .

"Kept waiting"
Kevin R, 11 Décembre 2015

I arrived 20 minutes prior to rooms being available at 2PM and was kept waiting nearly to 3PM. We use the hotel because it is the nearest one to where we want to be and have accepted the fact it is tired and a bit run down. We dined in one evening and it was lovely to meet the restaurant manager again who just so could as was the bar man the rest are not worth mentioning as was the food that evening it is not appropriate mixing fine food with frozen xmas vegetables. The great fast was very good on both days.

"OK, just ok"
dickydave, 04 Décembre 2015

Visited Nottingham to attend the Mumford and Son's Concert at the nearby FM Arena. Stayed for just one night, staff were very good, room was basic but clean. This hotel would be fine for a business stay, but is not a romantic retreat by any stretch of the imagination.

"Good value, with a couple of 'buts'"
Sandy_T_145, 02 Décembre 2015

Stayed for two nights while visiting family. The staff are great, very helpful and friendly. Breakfast is really good value and although only scrambled eggs were out on the cooked section of the buffet, poached eggs were cooked for us without hesitation. The heating problems seem to have been resolved and our radiator and towel rail were piping hot. Our room (320) was a bit on the small size - it was a standard double and if we stay again we will definitely book a room with a king size bed. Also the room was on the side of the building but the road noise prevented us opening the window. Our bathroom was good, big fluffy towels and a good power shower. Unfortunately the pumps for the showers are noisy and, as the walls let through a lot of noise from neighbouring rooms, we heard showers being used fairly late at night and at 6 in the morning! The wifi is very good and the lighting in the room was excellent, there are also plenty of power points for charging phones, etc. Now for the big BUT; the floors and stairs are the creakiest, noisiest, I have ever encountered! I felt sorry for guests in the rooms closer to the stairs and lift. We were on the top floor and were very glad we did not have a room above us. We tried to tread lightly in our room, but were very conscious of our creaky floor.

"Home From Home"
david p, 02 Décembre 2015

Working in Nottingham every week for the foreseeable future is now looking good.. I've tried the rest and now I've found the best. A big thank you to David and his dedicated team of professionals who make my weekly stays both enjoyable and comfortable with a lovely room, stunning food and first class customer service. The Westminster Hotel really puts Best back into Best Western.

"Excellent stay"
vls1973, 30 Novembre 2015

Stayed here for the weekend whilst xmas shopping in nottingham. We did book an executive room which was huge so no complaints there. We were at the front of the hotel and couldnt hear traffic noise from the main road so no complaints there neither. We didnt eat in the hotel but did use the bar. It was close enough to town to walk and the parking was a bonus. All in all an excellent place to stay and wouldnt hesitate to stay again however i did view a standard room before we left and the upgrade was definately worth it purely because of the size of the room.

"Weekday stay"
54nicholasr, 30 Novembre 2015

My room was clean and comfortable, although the en-suite bathroom was rather cramped. The hotel consists of several houses joined together so the room layout is a bit confusing and it might be difficult for infirm people with luggage. However the staff are friendly and helpful and the buffet breakfast is tasty. It is a good hotel to choose if you just want somewhere to stay and not a luxury establishment.

"Okay for the price"
511cmr, 28 Novembre 2015

I stayed here two nights in November. The room was small and a little cramped but overall it was updated and decorated nicely. Bed was comfortable, shower was sufficient and wifi worked really well. I'm not sure how the heat works so it has been a little cold but I should have asked for direction so that is partially my fault. My main issue was the noise. As I laid in my bed I could hear people on all sides of me, singing, coughing, talking, using the restroom, going up and down the stairs etc etc. Walls are very thin. If they could fix that it would have been a much better experience. I'm surprised I didn't see that on the reviews I looked at prior to booking because it really is a nuisance. Based on the noise I will try and find a different hotel if needed in Nottingham in the future.

"Average Stay; Acceptable for the Price"
DanDeerskin, 25 Novembre 2015

In terms of layout, I don't think I have stayed in a stranger place - up and down stairs to get to a first floor room. The building is really old and dated but clearly an effort has been made with the rooms with a relatively recent and modern redecoration. The heating was difficult to manage; there was noisy traffic particularly in the morning which added to the fire alarm going off at 7:40 (false alarm). Positives included hot chocolate in the room, free wi-fi in the room which also worked very well. All in all, I would stay again as it is a cheap bed for the night but it wouldn't take much to sway me to try somewhere else at a similar price.

"Just average"
Johnandrews62, 17 Novembre 2015

There is nothing great about this hotel. The room was pretty old and tired, as was the bathroom. We were on the ground floor, but because of the weird design of the building we had to go up and down about 4 flights of stairs with our suitcases, with no offer of help. Ironically our car was parked outside our bedroom window, but the door to the carpark from their was bolted closed, so to leave we had to drag our bags up and down all the stairs again. We left before breakfast because it wasn't included in the rate and looked over priced. The wifi didn't work very well in our room either.

"lovely stay"
thewooler97, 13 Novembre 2015

Room was clean and well presented, food was lovely and great value for money. There didn't seem to be any heating in my room but bedding is quite thick so you soon warm up. Unfortunately you can hear everything from other rooms but overall great place. Staff are very friendly too!

"Not the best"
Deborah G, 07 Novembre 2015

Stayed in the Best Western for four nights while in Nottingham for business. The single room I had was clean and the bed was comfortable. On the first night I had a meal from the £14.95 menu. The food was top drawer. Could not fault it. Ham hook for a starter with a great Apple chutney. Deelish! Feathered beef with winter veg and a mushroom and bacon sauce. Fantastic! The beef just fell apart..you could have cut it with a spoon. And I'm not a fan of mushroom but I asked for the sauce separate and that was really nice also.Awesome! Then sticky toffee pudding for dessert. FAB! The breakfast is a buffet set up. It's ok but not great. As the week goes on I reckon a lot of the food is re-heats. The hotel is let down by extremely creaky floorboards all through the hotel and the walls are very thin. You can hear every footstep. I was woken at six in morning by the guy next door talking on the phone and when he had "company" little was left to the imagination. Also the pumps needed for the showers are very noisy. If another resident has a very early or very late shower then you will be woken. The staff were very nice but I doubt I would return

"NO HEATING"
angela k, 06 Novembre 2015

Booked in for two days whilst visiting family looked nice, rooms nice and clean, felt a little cold but it was only 3pm so thought heating would come on later,so we unpacked our bags and went to the restaurant to have a meal with the family,we all ordered food which was very nice then went back to our room, I was very tired after the drive and looking forward to a cosy night and a rest. entering the room it was cold we tried to turn the radiator taps full on and the heated towel rail in the bathroom was cold. waited nothing happened so by this time it was 7pm I rang the receptionist told her she said heating comes on 6pm must be something wrong I will send the engineer to have a look, 30 mins later the bar man knocked at the door with a fan heater said you can use this we did it was so noisy and the heat so intense and dry we had to unplug it and no engineer came, the next morning I went to the reception and reported it again, I said we would be out for the whole day and could someone look at it, yes she said they know about it. we got back that night it had been a very cold wet day and 7.30pm we went to our room, it was freezing I rang reception told he,she said would you like to move to another room I said no because within a few hours we were leaving, she said can you hold a minute, I waited for ages she came back saying we can offer you a free drink in the bar I said no we do not want a free drink its hardly a great offer for freezing to death for two nights, just about to get a quick shower the next morning when a knock at the door he said I'm the engineer I said we are leaving within the next hour could he wait until then, we were glad to leave it was so cold and the staff did not give a damn, I said to my friend better go pay the bill he said they asked me to pay on arrival before the bags was even allowed in the room I did not know this until we were leaving, makes me wonder if they knew something we didn't, would not go there again, we sat in the bar to keep warm and was over charged £6 for a pint of bitter and a glass of red wine, not a best western I would go to again

"Lovely stay- only a few bad points"
Hannah H, 06 Novembre 2015

Really enjoyed our recent stay only bad points are: walls are very thin so can hear everything and the creaky floor outside our room, also we ate in the restaurant the first evening the young woman that served us didn't seem to know what she was doing and also didn't take our drinks order so we ate without a drink. All in all a good stay close to the town and comfy bed.

"Business stay at Nottingham"
Elisa N, 03 Novembre 2015

Ok-ish hotel. Staff was sympathetic but not over-the-top. Breakfast buffet was also not of high standard. Room is small and cluttered with furniture. Difficult to get your way around. Walls are thin, and you can hear your next door neighbor. Bed is really too soft. Taxi company hired by the hotel does not accept credit cards and the first driver almost expelled us form his car (as he found we were taking too long to get out). Plus he left us in front of the wrong building.

"Very reasonable tariff and staff excellent"
kitten001, 31 Octobre 2015

We visited here last night to visit our daughter. On arrival the receptionist Renata informed me that I had booked for next Friday not this ! Renata could not have been more helpful reassuring us immediately that they had a vacant room and that she would arrange for the booking to be transferred to last night. This was organised quickly ,the only delay being the Expedia staff whose IT was on go slow, and we were soon in our room. We stay at Best Western Hotels fairly often as an antidote to the other rather formulaic budget hotels. The Westminster whilst a little tired in the communal areas had really well appointed bedrooms and comfortable beds and the £9.50 breakfast was excellent value. Thanks again to Renata, you are a star and Rose who was the first to wish me Merry Christmas bless you.

"Amazing Staff/Stay/Drinks/Food"
SimonPegg, 27 Octobre 2015

What can I say?! Had an amazing stay here due to the staff being so cool. AJ the receptionist volleyball playing lady is super cool along with Renata and Heather is amazing. David, let Abby wear her bright lip-stick next time..;) Definitely will be back. See you all soon;)

"Nice breakfast"
Fleur98, 25 Octobre 2015

The room and bathroom was clean, the bed, a regular double wasn't the best but it was fine. Unfortunately two people in the room next door spoiled our stay with shouting at 3 am and then the fire alarm was triggered at 4.30 which left is fairly tired next day. The choice at breakfast was good however if you want any eggs other than scrambled you have to ask.....it would be nice to be told that however.

"Uncomfortable smallest bed"
Stefano915, 24 Octobre 2015

We stayed for one night, prices was very good as we found it on booking.com Location was close to city centre so we left the car in the car park and took the bus. The room was small even though it had everything. Tv was a good size and we found tea, coffee and biscuits on arrival. The bed was a queen size that for 2 grown adults is definitely not big enough. If you turn you end up on your partner backside. We both had to sleep on the edge and it wasn't comfortable. At 4.30 we were rudely awaken by the smoke alarm because someone decided to have a fag in another room. We practically never went back to sleep after that. At reception we explained to the manager what we were not happy with and she agreed for complimentary breakfast which we really appreciated and we did like considering there was good choices, quality products and i can say it had a decent espresso machine. To sum it up, the price was good, the bed was uncomfortable and way too small. Thumbs up for the breakfast and the manager.

"Very good price to quality."
Piotr B, 20 Octobre 2015

Very good price to quality. Maybe from the front hotel isn't the most beautiful, but the room was really surprisingly nice as well as the bathroom. It's not far from the city centre with free parking. I definitely recommend it.

"...great 2 night stay. unexpected pleasure"
stephen s, 10 Octobre 2015

we were apprehensive about our stay having read some of the reviews, however these all proved to be incorrect. We stay several times a month in hotels using the Best Western brand and I have to say that the staff were the most pleasant and helpful which seemed to be "genuine " rather than the usual forced, both Night Porters are an asset to the hotel especially when I was coming all hours of the day and night due to work commitments . We had a room at the back of the hotel on the 2nd floor ( there is a very efficient lift ). The . room was well decorated plenty of sockets for phones, ipad etc and plenty of different types of lighting. There were 2 double beds - a bonus and both very comfortable, the bathroom was modern and spotlessly clean, the water piping hot and there was also a bath which was well used as was the brilliant shower. Free parking right outside was a bonus , my only negative would be the patchy wifi connection but that is being very picky. A very enjoyable stay and we are already planning a return visit next month.

"comfortable"
brianh168, 08 Octobre 2015

on arrival at this hotel the receptionist asked ...........whats that smell? my partner and I were taken aback by this as the question seemebut dissabled people be aware d to be directed at us . as normal travellers do we both had a shower that morning and both had on clean clothes. apart from that we enjoyed our stay in a very clean hotel. despite having a lift to all floors there are still 4 steps to negociate. not to good if you are disabled

"a fantastic two nights away"
jamesparson, 05 Octobre 2015

As a disabled traveller it is not easy to find a place as supportive as the westminster. my room was fantastic and bed was best i slept in for a long time. the staff were amazing helping with all my needs. on the last day i had a roast dinner and the flavours in the meat and gravy were awesome the food was so well cooked. housekeeping helped me into the hotel and reception were always available to help.i cannot praise enough and my service animal loved all the staff.

"Felt more like a hostel than a hotel!"
THindCornwall, 04 Octobre 2015

Although I have stayed here once before, on my own, in a superior room, I never left the room. So when arranging a weekend away for friends in Nottingham it seemed a good choice! Oh dear! The corridors are tired and more like a care home, and the public areas are dated. Although the staff are fairly friendly on the bar and reception, the friendliness award has to go to the restaurant staff, Rose and a lovely young girl, both of which couldn't do enough for our party. We had a late meal in the restaurant on arrival and very reasonably priced, although the restaurant is shabby and too brightly lit! Breakfast looked good, although I had very little due to an upset stomach, not sure where from? The most disconcerting event was on the Friday evening, in the bar, suddenly an influx of guests, I think they were guests, poured into the bar with polystyrene boxes of fast food, and began to munch in the bar. As if that wasn't enough, two guys had a Chinese delivered!!!! Does this happen in other hotels?? When I asked the bar man if that was appropriate , he commented that he didn't mind!! Oh well, I don't mind not staying here again then! Horrible! Bedrooms were dated, but comfortable and cleanish! Holes in nets, stains on bed runner, hairs in bath and corners of bathroom. Great shower though! I'm not usually this picky but was very disappointed and bringing friends, had expected more. Understand they are being bought out though, so may be a good thing.

"Great weekend away"
GElle1, 03 Octobre 2015

Had a lovely stay here whilst spending weekend in Nottingham. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. There was plenty of parking in car park and our room was equipped with everything we needed. A taxi journey into the centre cost about £5.
