"Lovely hotel great staff "
Smokey270, 22 Mai 2019

Nice hotel with great staff very helpful and pleasant We had dinner at night which was ok but nothing special a bottle of wine £22 was pricey for what it was. The bed was very comfortable and the room very clean nice change in a hotel ! The breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice I would use again if in area

"Sister's wedding weekend - room 109"
Fishker82, 14 Mai 2019

Arrived Friday night to do wedding stuff - check venue (the attached Chatsworth suite, if that's what its called, apologies if not, its next to the bar and the outside wood fired oven bit). Settled in, had food at the main restaurant listening to a jazz singer. Comfy room, big bed, clean, quiet, nice shower etc. Wedding day itself - all fine. Reception held in the aforementioned suite, was nicely decorated, large, polite staff, big enough for children to run around, good food, good hospitality. Day after - had breakfast, played out in the grounds with young relatives, packed up, came home. All, fine. Only grievance was the staff seemed a bit unforgiving to our check out times, given that there were loads of family members using the rooms and we brought them a lot of business, they seemed pretty brusque with asking us to leave, given we were very busy trying to sort out all the equipment, presents, toys, gifts, clothes and cake etc. that come with a wedding, we weren't just lounging around being lazy.

"Excellent staff"
CliveN4, 28 Avril 2019

Stayed twice in two weeks on business. I had a suite which was great but access is via a narrow staircase which is old and not level so not good if you're unsteady in your feet. The suite was excellent and the bed really comfy. The only thing missing was a desk to sit and and work from. Staff were all excellent as was the food. I ate in the bar area which was fine. Overall I recommend this hotel.

"Mixed feelings "
MissRed26, 25 Avril 2019

We stayed at the hotel on Easter Saturday. The hotel was clean, the staff friendly; but compared to the gorgeous building outside, inside is just very standard. The room made me feel like I was in a Premier Inn, which is fine, but wasn't in keeping with the beautiful building outside. I feel the room could benefit from some small personal touches –for example art work on the bedroom walls. The mattress was very soft and the room very, very hot with only a small window. Fans are available from reception. I would have liked a non-slip mat in the bath. These maybe available, to be honest I didn't ask because I was already in there! There is a help yourself to cereal etc breakfast & then a cooked breakfast to order – much like Premier Inn where you choose the items you would like off the menu. The receptionist was very friendly.

"Mattress too soft, paper thin walls, and breakfast runs out"
650anitap, 23 Avril 2019

We have just had 3 nights in this hotel, and my back will take some time to recover. Our room was a double in the newer part of the hotel. The room itself was a decent size, but the bathroom could certainly have been larger. The room was quite dark, not helped by a bulb in the main light being out. We had 4 major criticisms though:- 1. The mattress on the bed was dreadful. It was way too soft, so we both ended up with back aches, and had very poor sleep. 2. The walls were paper thin, so we could hear the people in the room next to us chatting, and the snoring sounded as if it were in our room it was so loud. Others in our group had similar issues with sounds from next door rooms. There was also noise from above, so the floors offered poor sound insulation. 3. I know it was Easter weekend, but by Sunday they had run out of salmon for breakfast, and they also didn't top up the bread which was all gone by 9:30. On Monday some of the cereals had run out, the yogurt was running low, and on all days, if you didn't grab a croissant early, they were all gone too. Pretty poor show when you must know how many guests you have booked in. 4. The hotel proudly displays its Silver award for being green, but they changed towels every day when we did not leave them in the tub (as per the guidance in the bathroom on how they were green) and the electricity in the room was meant to only work with the key inserted into the slot, but the room had a key there already, and when we removed it to try to save electricity, it had no impact. So I don't think they deserve that award. We will not be going back.

"Our Wedding "
Beep0876, 13 Avril 2019

Thanks to Pat and everyone at Mosborough Hall, our wedding day was stress-free, seamless & perfect! Cannot fault anything about the preparations beforehand, the day, the food, the staff and accommodation. An amazing time had by all of our family and friends we were all made very welcome so much so that the following day lots of us spent the full day in the hotel bar! Thanks again Pat, Sam, the night porter, Sam the Bar manager & all staff involved in our special day! Thanks Naomi & Lee Norcross x

"Something for Everyone"
LeeAnn58, 12 Avril 2019

This was more than just a Hotel for accommodation. The buildings were old and historic dating back to the 16th century. Although, the hotel rooms were modern they were blended with the old seamlessly. The old Hall was a nice spot to spread out with a hot chocolate or glass of red to talk to friends or watch television. Heated with oil heaters. Beautiful high ceilings and an eclectic mix of old and new furniture. The bar area had full length glass windows overlooking the well manicured lawn area. There is a good restaurant on the premises. Good parking available.

"Wate of money"
Starbear, 07 Avril 2019

I have recently stayed at this hotel and was quite appalled. The Premier Inn that I had stayed at previously exceeded this hotel. The room was non smoking, but people smoked beneath my window, and being placed by the car park did not allow for a good night's sleep. The bed was too soft. The en-suite smelt unpleasant. The restaurant menu was uninspiring. Walked through the lounge bar which hadn't been cleaned from the might before to the restaurant for breakfast. No one was around even though the tables were set. After 5 minutes of waiting, decided to leave. No one was on reception at the time.

"unwelcome guest"
Sightsee30721969578, 07 Avril 2019

On arrival at the hotel on a wet night, the cark park was in darkness we struggled with luggage as we were not offeredany assistance with it. the staff were not that friendly, we arrived late 10pm and were told that there was not any food available we had to to chase around to find someone wjo was prepared to make a sandwich, the room had a problem with insects, and the staff responded "oh are they back" when i reported it. they seemed to be aware thatthis was an issue, not how they would deal with it. I had a business coleague from Holland and my Fiancee with me. they will certainly remember there stay here forall tyhe wrong reasons.

"Birthday Afternoon Tea"
Archie123456, 04 Avril 2019

Very disappointed with our afternoon tea that was a treat for my wife and sister. I had chosen the luxury afternoon tea package at a cost of £40 up £10 on the previous year. Very poor selection of cheap sandwiches and poor quality cakes, cold coffee and a very strong smell of damp in the restaurant. Extremely disappointed after having a top quality afternoon tea there last year. Definitely will not be returning, I emailed the hotel and to date have had no response. My wife raised the complaint with a member of staff and was offered a complimentary drink, however the special occasion had been spoilt.

"pre wedding day"
FarAway32829552057, 25 Mars 2019

stayed over for one night before my wedding day. got food made after midnight. and received late checkout of almost an extra hour and a half which was brilliant.next time will try the restaurant food.

"Wedding Day"
JonnyBagshaw, 24 Mars 2019

We celebrated our wedding here recently and have to say the day was perfect. Pat the wedding coordinator made every effort to ensure the day ran smoothly and was everything we desired. She was extremely attentive and listened to all our requests. The Chatsworth suite is a beautiful separate building with a private bar and courtyard area. We stayed in the Robert De Stuteville suite which again was everything we'd hoped. The only negative, and it's not really a massive issue is that the ready room needs some TLC and maybe some ventilation as the windows didn't open, and with it being above the kitchen it was very warm. We decided to use Elegant seats as our wedding decorators and they were fantastic from start to finish and managed to create the vision we'd had in our minds. All in all the day was exactly as we wanted it and would definitely recommend it to anyone getting married.

"Short Break"
Roving39436139954, 23 Mars 2019

Lovely looking hotel, very comfortable and reasonably priced , we used this location as a base to visit family and a quick route into Sheffield which was only 20 minutes drive away, a tram service was not too far away either

"Just kind of Average"
concernednortheast, 17 Mars 2019

The setting is good. The building dating back to 12th Century with quite substantial 21C additions. The room, quite a maze from reception, was ok. Electric heater,no air conditioning. For me bed and pillows were soft, but that's personal preference. The room the corridors to it and general decor looked tired. The restaurant was chilly, I noted fan heaters on the morning not present on the evening. The meals were very average my starter Homemade bread was dry as was the Aubergine lasagne. My partner enjoyed Nachos and Cod. We both agreed this was not a place for a special meal with little choice and very bland, & poor presentation. The breakfast just ok My scramabled eggs were grey. Although the staff were friendly I could not recommend this venue

"Sad family meal fof 5"
RayrayFitz, 16 Mars 2019

Despite emailing and enquiring about vegan and dairy free options (I have a dairy allergy) the meal and choice were very poor. I was told via FB messenger there would be ‘several options' for all courses, and to mention vegan/dairy free when when booking. We did. And phoned up to confirm the day before and mentioning it again. Turned up on the day they had no record of our booking - despite it being confirmed. And vegan/dairy free options was either Houmous - a starter, or mushroom or pea and mint risotto. I and my husband both chose the different risottos. To say they were both bland was an understatement. Kids had curry which was a very small portion for an adult meal. with what are shop bought mini naan breads and a side of greasy onion rings that even they couldn't eat. Really disappointing. All three kids loved the puddings though, but there was no dairy free/vegan option. Also what's with the poundshop salt and pepper pots? Not even pepper grinders on the tables. Just genieric white pepper in a cheap pepper pot. Even Wetherspoons has more options than this. And honestly their food is nicer. We paid £90 for a sad meal for us all, which apart from the kids puddings were below average for taste. If you can't cater for vegan/dairy free or other dietary requirements that's fine it's not a problem. Happy to go elsewhere. But please be honest about it. I just felt like it was £90 wasted and far from a fine dining experience as expected. But really in this day and age with trained chefs, who cant knock up vegan options or puddings etc. It's really not that difficult. I've had cheap greasy spoon cafes make more effort and produce better food than this on the spur of the moment, never mind with a weeks notice.

"At last! A hotel that values Best Western diamond select members"
Stuart J, 11 Mars 2019

Full marks to this hotel. This hotel acknowledges your status. Was warmly welcomed by Tia in reception, a wonderful room with a great view. Comfortable bed. Dinner was great value at just over £20. Excellent service from Amber. Fantantic breakfast brought up by room service within ten minutes. I had lost all faith with the loyalty scheme....now, thanks to this hotel, I'm friends again with BW.If only all the hotels in the franchise followed their example. Thank you!

"Very Disappointing"
spudDorset, 04 Mars 2019

My family have just stayed in the Mosborough Hall for 3 nights to attend a family wedding. Important to say that the wedding was great but the hotel was extremely disappointing. On a positive note staff were friendly and this was pleasing to note. However the overall experience was marred by a number of things. I booked a double and a family room months ahead of the stay and, at the time of the booking, highlighted that the family room was for a family of 4 including a girl aged 13 and boy aged 10. On arrival we found that both children were expected to share a bed a little smaller than a double and would not have single beds. As one might expect my grand daughter was not impressed and nor was I. I was not told, at the time of booking, that they children would be expected to share and, further, this is not mentioned on the web site (certainly I didn't see anything). In addition, the hotel took the decision (reasonable perhaps) to put us in rooms next to each other but it transpired that to do this we we were allocated rooms 224 and 225 which are on the top floor of the main building and accessed via a narrow, quite steep, stair case - with no lift. The double (room 224) has we later realised is very much smaller than rooms in other areas of the hotel. Tip when booking - request not to have 224! We ate in the hotel restaurant on the 2nd night (arrived very late on the 1st night) and intentionally booked a table for 6pm because my son was joining us with his 17 month baby and we wanted all the children to eat at a reasonable time. We submitted our order and also requested that the baby's meal be brought out first. Even though there was only one other table at the time our starters did not arrive for almost 30 minutes and the baby's meal was the last to arrive (not a good start). When ordering my meal I asked for the pie to then be given a choice of balti or vegetable. No problem I thought - I went with the Balti. After another long wait I was presented with a curry upon which I advised that I ordered the pie. After apologies, and a 10 - 15 min wait, I was then presented with a cottage/shepherds pie and a small bowl of broccoli. I was advised that this was the 'pie of the day' to which I responded that a) I didn't consider cottage/shepherds pie to be real pie and b) the 'pie of the day' should have been named on the menu. In fairness I was offered an alternate meal or a free drink but, by this time, everyone else round the table had finished their meals. We ordered sweets which then took another 40 minutes to arrive and by the time they arrived two of our party had had to leave to take baby to bed and three others had left the table because of the delay. Overall - not good. I did report all this to the Duty Manager immediately after. The rest of our stay was uneventful and we thoroughly enjoyed the wedding the following day and I do need to highlight that the venue in the adjacent building was ideal. I have written many reviews on Tripadvisor and this is the first time that I have had to voice such disappointment. A 'one off' stay for us.

"Country hotel"
bobmate, 25 Février 2019

Had a lovely one night stay en route to York for a long weekend. Plenty of parking there, and a short walk to reception. The staff were lovely and very welcoming. We went out for dinner and to visit family, before returning for a quick drink before bed. The bar was lovely and modern, but quite chilly due to the glass windows. The young man serving was not that knowledgeable about the choice of drinks available but he tried his best considering his age. We had a lovely room overlooking the front of the hotel. It was quite a maze of corridors around to find our room. It was warm and cosy for a February evening. The bed was one of the most comfy we have ever slept in and we are regular travellers around the world. We actually looked under the sheets the following morning to see the make and weee shocked to discover it was two large singles joined together - you could not tell this when in the bed. We were offered to take the option of breakfast but as we had an early start we declined. Our only negative was we had a very loud snoring neighbour all night which made getting to sleep hard, but other than that, we will probably stay there again when visiting family.

"Great nights sleep"
Seaside49777310991, 25 Février 2019

Lovely hotel with very friendly staff. The best night sleep I've ever had in a hotel. The bed was so comfy I didn't want to get up in the morning. Only negative I found was no plug sockets at the side of the bed.

"Relaxing experience"
Safari36878799933, 18 Février 2019

Lovely staff at the hotel. Friendly and welcoming. Rooms could do with a upgrade. And be nice for more adequate lighting. Beds lovely and comfortable. Bar staff went that extra mile and looked after the guest. Food cooked to a very high standard and well presented.!

"A comfortable and happy stay"
Wanderer40759159089, 18 Février 2019

On a social trip my stay was so comfortable. The room was perfect, the bed was tooooo comfortable and all staff were really lovely. Beautiful hotel and surroundings. I would highly recommend staying here for business or pleasure

"Beautiful Suite "
T29CYG, 09 Février 2019

My husband and I stayed in the Roberts suite which far exceeded my expectations, the room is huge, opulent and has a bath in the bedroom as well as a full bathroom. There is a seating area and a coffee machine! Whilst I was impressed with our room and the bar the rest of the hotel is in need of some TLC. The hallways need new carpets and the restaurant needs new furniture and a lick of paint. The old part of the hall is stunning and I will return as despite it needing a facelift it's great value for money.

"Fantastic wedding venue"
GetawaySheffield, 08 Février 2019

Our son held their wedding here just after Christmas 2018. They had Elegant Seats to decorate the room which looked amazing. Pat is the wedding planner and she is just the best - within a minute of meeting her you know that everything will turn out as you want it to. The food was really good; several people commented that the parsnip soup was the best soup they'd ever tasted! For a wedding the venue itself is great. They only have one wedding each day and this exclusivity is great. The whole wedding is held in a separate building to the main hotel. When guests first arrive they meet and chat and have a pre-wedding drink in the large glass bar of the main hotel which is perfect. Then just before ceremony time, everyone moves across to the wedding building which has wonderful old original features. It's a very short walk and you go through a pretty courtyard area to get there. The building is totally self contained with a large bar and toilets. My son and his new wife had an amazing wedding day and it was everything they hoped it would be. They want to do it all again!

"Smoke and mirrors"
Connor O, 02 Février 2019

Very poor! Me and my partner are currently between housing and in the mean time have been staying in a local B&B. Due to capita we had to cover a weekend in a different hotel, with a dog to consider we Mosborough hall hotel looked sufficient nice from the outlook marketing themselves as pet friendly, £53 per night through booking.com I thought was reasonable. When checking in we were advised that there was to be an additional £20 per night on top of the room charge for our dog however nowhere when booking did it state this. Once at our room, we were then to be disturbed the winter night into the early hour of the morning with loud drunken resindents stumbling out of the bar area into a taxi Breakfast time came which we were given very little information about to then realise we paid £8 for one bowl a cereal which was classed as a continental breakfast charged to the room. now this all may sound a little bit perdantic, but when you take into consideration 107 + 40 + 8 and then the remaining of the stay for 2 nights in Mosborough, Sheffield... absolutel rip off...and what make this worse is shear lack of remorse or understanding that they have completely mis sold there hotel and services it provides There are plenty of better places to stay in the South Yorkshire region, do not waste your money

"Middle of the road "
kevinH89, 27 Janvier 2019

First the positives , the staff are great really friendly and helpful. The room was I would class as average , incredibly hot on arrival heating on full unbearable. The bed was horrendous , the softest most uncomfortable bed I've ever not slept on . We ate in the bar in the evening just burgers , the food was bland and really uninspired . Breakfast was mostly edible, the tomatoes , and black pudding totally burnt to a crisp . Would we stop there again ? Maybe but I'm sure there are better options in the area . Thanks for reading my review .

"Lunch for 4"
Rambowles, 22 Janvier 2019

Visited on 21st Jan for lunch. The restaurant was empty which should have warned me. Although the menu was quite extensive we went for the simple one.. 4 x Fish and Chips. Possibly the worst fish i have ever had bar none. There was actually very little fish if any below the batter. I though it was just my small piece but the other 3 were either tasteless and watery or overcooked. We all left half the fish (except me, i didn`t have any to leave) I think its was vary old. The disappointing thing is that the chef could think it was acceptable I should have complained but as we were with a supplier i didnt want to seem churlish Staff were good and the place was very nice. Just don`t make the mistake of eating there. .

"Restaurant Review - Boxing day"
James9marshall, 20 Janvier 2019

We visited here on Boxing Day for a special family meal. We expected to be wowed by this experience which we was to being with but it went down hill quickly.. The building is beautiful and we enjoyed a drink prior to the meal, we were then seated where we had pre ordered our food from the set menu. We had a child with us who had a child's menu with no starter but was charged for an adult set menu which is a big difference, we asked for a refund of the difference but told we had to email in? Still had no reply from the email. As for the food the starter was so butter and salty I could hardly eat the soup. Onto the main course my girlfriend was served raw duck, we had to flag down someone who worked here as they never did a check back on any course of the meal. We were very disappointed that no one cared about how are food was. Then onto the dessert, I had cheesecake which arrived and a strange smell came from on, on closer inspection I found that the plate smelt of stale pond water I said this and other people also agreed there plates smelt of this too. We told a waitress as again there was no check back and she took them back into the kitchen with no apology, the places returned after being wiped but the smell was still there. Non of us eat the deserts including a full cheese board. On cleaning the plates away not one person asked if there was an issue even though they were not touched. On leaving we spoke about the issues and were told to email site and the manager either was too busy to talk or not on site as I said we still have not had a reply from the email. There severe lack of care at this restaurant and I really do not recommend it to anyone.

"Lovely staff"
Tracy2496, 19 Janvier 2019

Spent a great night at Mosborough Hall over Christmas with my other half - exceptional customer service and friendly staff! Beautiful food and décor within the hotel. Special mention to the restaurant team!

"12 century setting."
Lawrence o, 15 Janvier 2019

Not far from M1 and a lovely setting. 12 century building but added modern developments. Nice cosy room and restaurant very good. Not cheap house wine £19 bottle. Staff very friendly and rooms great. Ideal out of town centre .

"Great Value Hotel"
heavenlyparadise, 04 Janvier 2019

Last minute booking as I was tired and driving. Booked on line with BW and got a fabulous deal. Surprised at the standard of the hotel when I arrived for the money. Friendly staff, great facilities, comfortable bed, Would recommend to anyone.

"New Year's Eve"
andrealC5372BG, 02 Janvier 2019

As per the previous review, we visit this venue regularly, and they enjoy our patronage financially! We also had our wedding reception there. However, New Year's Eve, as non residents, we were turned away. Shame on you!!! Poor show!

"Faulty Towers"
Oskar1501, 27 Décembre 2018

For the money, this place was a joke. Water leak outside bedroom that had been there days, faulty stairs, faulty driveway, sheets that don't fit the bed and a really scrotty bathroom. The duty manager didn't know about the leak, the smell of damp or the stairway. Will do fairly soon!! And the offer of a free drink after falling downstairs, really?

"Excellent Christmas dinner "
tjbing, 25 Décembre 2018

Just returned from Mosborough Hall hotel for our Christmas dinner and i just want to say how wonderful it was. The food was beautiful the service was impeccable. The children loved the visit and their presents from Santa. Thank you so much for making our Christmas extra special

"Christmas Lunch"
Stewart D, 22 Décembre 2018

Twenty odd of us, sadly, paid good money for a very poor lunch. The pate was strange...more like the centre of a pork pie than anything. The turkey was reminiscent of what Morrisons supermarket were serving up for less than half the price we were paying and the vegetables were sparse and limited( a single parsnip). Gravy was served as an afterthought. The pudding was served up on ice cold plates, similarly, the dining room was so cold that some of us put on our overcoats to keep warm. Our starters were very nice but the stuffing ( if thats what it really was) needed forensic investigation so diabolical was it

"A good value stay"
John C, 17 Décembre 2018

My wife & I recently attended her works Christmas party, & took advantage of the bed & breakfast offer (£69 for the room, with full breakfast) The party was very good, with good food served efficiently, an excellent magician, & an OK DJ (at least he didn't play too much Christmas music) Our room was very comfortable, with everything we needed - all-in-all, a very good experience

"Works Christmas do"
Leegoose, 14 Décembre 2018

Went for our works Christmas do last night, everyone loved it.. food was nice, the staff were very good and very professional. Th e magician was excellent and kept everybody entertained all night . 10 out of 10 from me

"Company Christmas Party"
Philip M, 11 Décembre 2018

Decided to stay over night and pre booked a room which wasvery clean and comfortable. The bed was especially comfortable. The staff were all very helpful and polite. The Christmas meal was the usual fare which was to be expected when catering for 150 plus people.I considered the drinks to be a little expensive and more bar staff would have helped.Even so,a good time was had by all who attended

"Our yearly stay here !!!!!"
Angela C, 11 Décembre 2018

Visiting family in Sheffield we always stay at this beautiful hotel at Christmas Lovely warm rooms and bed linen and comfy bed Staff are pleasant and polite Free bottled water a plus ! Breakfast is amazing ! See you next year x

"Lunch with Santa "
joelbeeden, 09 Décembre 2018

We booked a lunch with Santa as a family. The room and table were both lovely. Service was also good. Portion size was a little small and the post-mix drinks were poor and clearly ready for changing. Th entertainment for children was very good as was the man himself, each child was given a gift addressed to them which was a lovely touch.

"Lovely Hotel, worth a visit"
mark_church, 15 Novembre 2018

I only stay here on business but have always found it to be comfortable and the staff are friendly and very helpful. The restaurant is ok, it has a nice bar area which is lovely in the summer and a room where you can relax and watch some TV if you want.. If you need somewhere to lay your head out of the city centre then it is worth a visit.

"Wonderful weekend break"
127patriciabaker, 05 Novembre 2018

4 of us celebrating several birthdays, simply could not fault the hotel from the moment we walked in until the time we checked out. Cheerful staff, good service, quality food from the bar and in the restaurant Bedrooms well equipped and toasty warm.

"Weekend break."
Gary S, 03 Novembre 2018

We saw some bad reviews regarding the food here prior to arriving, however, I felt that I must put our comments on regarding our own experience tonight. We both had a three course meal and the food was excellent. Very ample portions and very good quality. The staff serving us were fast, courteous, friendly and efficient and I would rate the hotel food as of a very high quality and good value for money. No negative comments from us and I would recommend giving it a try.

"needs work to get from standard to superior."
susan s, 31 Octobre 2018

My husband and I stayed at the hotel last weekend for a family party. We booked an executive double room, and were disappointed overall at the standard of service and accommodation. Firstly we were not offered any assistance with our bags on arrival. Our room was a good size with a large and comfortable bed, and complimentary robes. However, there was no fridge( we needed it for medication),and a significant charge for ice and insufficient shelf/drawer space for our clothing. The TV was too small for the size of room and I could not see it clearly from the bed. We had to ask for a remote control(which was provided fairly quickly by staff). However, the Bluetooth music device mentioned on the website did not appear despite asking. Also we had to sit on the floor to access the safe! The most concerning point was that there were no grips or bathmat in the shower, and no handles, so I felt very vulnerable to falls/slips, even though I have no mobility problems. I enjoyed the vegetarian breakfast, but not the cobwebs above the breakfast buffet table, or the fact that we were served cold coffee twice, and had to ask a couple of times for milk to be provided. Overall, the bar area was pleasant, and staff were polite. when settling our bill, we were charged £40 less so this was a helpful response, but actually we would have preferred the expected level of accommodation and service.

"Poor food"
Spendee, 14 Octobre 2018

Ate in the restaurant yesterday to get food delivered with black chips. They went back to get soggy chip shaped potatoes. Gammon was tough so not good. This is our second visit where food has had to be returned. Raw liver on first visit. My husband had fish, that came with 2 pieces of leek. No other veg/potatoes. My brother had the pork that came with one roast potato and no veg. These are not cheap eats just to get a plate of fish/meat and the cooking is poor. Overpriced and very poor quality. Needless to say we shall not be eating here again.

Stayed one night in the Mosborough Great Western. Arrived on a wet and windy weekend. The car park is situated at the rear of the hotel. The reception area is quite compact and generally has a receptionist. The bar area is an impressive light and airy modern extension. The room we were allocated was acceptable, clean and quite spacious. It was however on the ground floor, which felt like the basement. There was very little natural light and no view. It was quite noisy, being situated beneath the stairs? There were also a noisy group arriving in the the room down the corridor, which was quite a surprise as the rooms were quite far apart. After a shortish period of settling in time the group settled down and the rest of the night was silent. I would not recommend anyone having this room, if at all possible. The breakfast was ok, I did like the individual pots of coffee. The breakfast menu looked good. I was pleased to see kippers on the menu. Both kippers and the full English breakfasts were ok and adequate.

"Great value weekend"
Simon C, 06 Octobre 2018

We stayed for the weekend with our dog. The room was large but a bit soarsely furnished. All the staff are very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast is the usual fare, OK but the scambled eggs were not pleasant. Evening meals are reasonably priced and no frills. We enjoyed our stay and would return again. The area is also beautiful.

"Bar visit "
CCS1985, 16 Septembre 2018

Lovely and quiet family drinks in the brasserie - Sunday late afternoon 5.30pm. Prices hotel average £4.20 for a gin then another couple of quid for the tonic. Free newspapers and pastries which was a nice touch. Have been here for a wedding before which was very nice too, stunning location and grounds well kept. Would return.

"Very enjoyable stay"
maureen5952, 16 Septembre 2018

Hotel is a good base for exploring the surrounding attractions. A nostalgic stay having last been there 23 years ago. Although changed it is a very nice hotel. Room was spacious, bed very large large and comfy. Breakfast was very plentiful with a lot to choose from and the service was excellent. All the staff were very friendly and helpful.

"Lovely place but avoid room 101"
swpv, 12 Septembre 2018

I've stayed here on a few occasions now and overall it's a great hotel, my issue with my previous stay is being placed next to the reception where at 4am I was awoken by a loud beeping noise. Having found the receptionist it was explained this happens every morning..... If this is the case why is there nothing in place to rectify this? On a positive I find the beds very comfortable and the food is pretty good! Nice bar area with a good atmosphere.

"Lovely hotel in quiet location"
Julie F, 24 Août 2018

Had a very pleasant stay. Staff were friendly and curtious. Room was quiet, well furnished and bed comfortable. Breakfast was good and a mix of self service and served food. Would stay again if in area.

"Wedding "
BLUE078, 19 Août 2018

Stayed for 2 nights, Saturday and Sunday, Wedding was on the Sunday. Breakfast was great better than a buffet breakfast, and veggie sausages , very hot, poached eggs perfect . Wedding went well , room very nice and clean no complaints.

Looked for somewhere to stay in Sheffield at the very last minute. Stayed at Mosborough Hall Hotel. We were delighted, room was very nice, staff were so friendly even sent us a bottle of bubbly to congratulate us on becoming grand parents. Enjoyed it so much will go back again shortly for another visit. Well done Mosborough Hall Hotel.

"Hotel great. Rooms average."
Jonathan W, 11 Août 2018

Stayed here for one night on Friday. The hotel on its website looks qirky and oldy worldy and on arrival down the drive it did not disappoint. Stunning location. The room we got (208) was very basic. Would evwn describe it as to a travelodge room. Nothing like the pictures I had seen and not exciting or not very well detailed either. Broken towel rail, old notepad, hairs in bathroom. However the beds were extremly comfy. We ate at The Mossbrook Inn. Beautiful country pub. I would reccomend booking in advance as it waa rather busy. Breakfast the next morning was lovely. Buffet needs some work but was fine for what we needed. The lady who worked on reception (didnt catch her name) on Friday 10th Aug PM/Saturday 11th Aug AM was extremly helpful and a credit to your hotel. Overall a plesant stay and we will come back. Just a shame about the room but Ill upgrade next time.

"Good value and really nice staff."
Silvascoop, 11 Août 2018

We have stayed here for the last couple of years and this year had my Daughter and Son-in-Law for company. Their room (217) was more spacious than ours, but both rooms were of a good standard and had everything we needed although our room (216) would benefit from a makeover. The restaurant was good enough although the service was pretty poor and the evening menu seemed to be a mish-mash of styles and to be honest, none of it was exciting. The quality was variable, my Calves liver was lovely while my Daughter's Nacho starter arrived without Guacamole or Salsa! I doubt that I would eat here were I not staying in the hotel. Breakfast service was slow due to it being table service and the food was pretty average. My bacon was soggy, the sausage barely warm and quite tasteless and the poached egg hard! The prices are reasonable, but I'd rather pay a bit more and see the quality improve. For convenience, the place can't be faulted and overall, I do like it, however, it seems to be on the slide and this needs to addressed.

"Overnight stay"
julieandsteveh1, 06 Août 2018

Room smelled of smoke and very much in need of refurbishment. Staff were great but the whole thing disorganised. Breakfast should be self service but it's not. The newish bar looks good and the prices are not so expensive but it is unlikely we would stay again

"Lovely Hotel"
donnalawrie36, 31 Juillet 2018

Lovely hotel and very helpful staff. We were upgraded to the Lord Darcey Suite, stunning room and the bed was very comfortable. Had a snack in Bar first evening and Breakfast in morning. Only thing that was missing for Breakfast was any Vegetarian Sausages.

"It all started so well..."
rayduns, 30 Juillet 2018

A bottle of chilled prosecco greeted us and we were further surprised to find that we would have complementary breakfast included in our Sunday night stay. But all was not well when we were awakened very early on Monday morning by a biker starting his Kawasaki immediately outside our room, shortly followed by the beeping of the laundry delivery lorry. This was complemented by a lot of chatting between the respective staff and delivery personnel. Not something that you would expect so early in the morning. Best Western have since apologised and I do hope that in future the noise will be kept down.

"Nephew Wedding"
D0ddy63, 23 Juillet 2018

What can you say. The stay from start to finish was brilliant. The staff could not be more helpful. The meals were to die for I personally have never had Calf Liver so tender and tasty. The wedding was a dream from service to meal to even a pizza oven for evening buffet lots of different choices. Grade 1 fantastic

"Delightful stay"
Swamprocker, 22 Juillet 2018

The hotel is a lovely historic building in a beautiful setting. Beautiful semi-rural location, we had a lovely evening walk in the countryside near the hotel. Our room was small, but spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated. There was plenty of cupboard space for clothes, and a full-length mirror. Well designed bathroom with a proper bath and decent sized towels, and good toiletries. Excellent plumbing! All the staff, from reception to dining room, were helpful and courteous. My only criticism would be the food in he restaurant for dinner, which was mediocre at best. My lamb was dry, overcooked and mostly fat. However the breakfast was very good. We'll stay again if we are in the area.

"A great place to stay when on a visit to Sheffield"
Paul P, 19 Juillet 2018

My room was a single (as requested) and it not have a view but was very comfortable and the feel of the room made it look new and It had all the things one need. There is plenty of off-road parking in the Halls grounds. The bedroom had a 'use whilst you are here' sort of hand held GPS for visitors to find their way around the beautiful countryside . All the Staff could not be better and are very helpful. In the the lounge, bar and dining room. The Excellent food can be taken in the Dinning room, with its huge fireplace, in the Bar or better still on a large outside Patio. Would I stay here again certainly yes. The only thing missing was air con

"Returning Visit not so good"
YorkshireBen, 11 Juillet 2018

We have stayed here before and had a great time. I booked this visit for my wife's birthday on the Jazz night. Karen Lake was amazing as usual and we were looked after well by the reception staff and Jodie as we knew them from our wedding as we loved the hotel. The meal was ok but nothing special but was spoiled by the waiter knocking over my wine bottle on the table and spilling my wine on the floor. He wiped the wine up but didn't replace the wine he spilled. My final course was a cheese and biscuits unfortunately was very disappointing it was 1 piece of Stilton and 2 pieces of cheddar. It spoilt a special occasion

"Amazing hotel"
fletch_77, 08 Juillet 2018

Visited this hotel at short notice for birthday night away... the best bar staff and housekeeping.. nothing too much trouble.. waited 5 mins at bar fir a drink as very quiet and got free drink. Food was quick and v tasty.. they upgraded us to the john darcey suite ( apparently haunted) beautifull room amazing bathroom although very hot due weather there was an air con unit supplied. This hotel is beautifull in lovley quiet surroundings would defo recommend and would be a lovley wedding / party event.. thanks to all staff was a lovley stay xx

"Nice sleep shame about breakfast"
aglaiaman, 08 Juillet 2018

Great location, nice clean room, comfy bed for a good nights sleep. The funky glass bar was a nice added touch. Breakfast wasn't good, the service was very slow but possibly due to a wedding party having breakfast from the night before. A few items we had to ask to be replenished, disappointing for the price. I would stay here again but I'd eat breakfast elsewhere

"100% recommend"

second time staying here the staff are amazing, both times my experience has been 5 star! Every time I have come I have received great customer service everyone from reception to cleaners are super friendly!

"very good"

Quiet and cosy place. Plenty of parking in the back. Room was big, clean, plenty of drinks, toiletries etc. offered. WiFi of good quality. Plenty of food for breakfast. Although BLACK PUDDING WAS MISSING!!!

""Very good location.""
Valerie T, 28 Juin 2018

Beautiful building in pleasant grounds. The hotel has quite a history. Mosborough Hall goes back before Medieval times. The old building is in good condition and there are other parts built on to extend the Hotel. The staff are friendly and always helpful. You can eat in the bar or the Darcy dining room. The food is good but the wine is overpriced. We wanted twin beds so we were put in one of the disabled rooms. I love the bathrooms in Best Western Hotels so I was disappointed with the disabled bathroom. I can at least give you a good report on a disabled room and bathroom from someone able-bodied. Lovely large room. Very comfortable beds. Hanging rail a bit high. Safe to low. The safe is on the bottom shelf of the cabinet where the tea and coffee maker is stored. The Tea\\coffee tray needs to be left on the counter. It is too tight and heavy to get out of the cupboard. The Handy smart phone which you can borrow free of charge,, is a wonderful idea. I even called my daughter in Switzerland, free of charge. We had 3 night at the hotel and really feel relaxed. Thank you.

"Beautiful Property badly managed"
Luckylegs59, 24 Juin 2018

Stayed her for three night whilst on a training course, when we checked in the room looked nothing like on the internet, when we asked what the extra £20 per night charge was the gentleman at the reception said “ for complimentary toiletries and bathrobe” I alway believed complimentary meant no charge. The room was at the end of a long corridor and down a small flight of stairs.which looked out onto the rear car park. The next morning we went for breakfast,I ordered sausage, bacon, tomato and a fried egg,the only description I can give for the bacon ans sausage was cremated beyond belief,I asked for Gluten Free bread to be told they don't have any, despite sending an email with my dietary requirements, This is a beautiful Hotel but badly managed, with some staff who should be retrained in customer service skills as grunting at guests does nothing for their service. The building is beautiful in so lovely location, but the service let's it down.

"huge rooms"
Cassie S, 13 Juin 2018

me and my partner booked a room here as we were meeting friends not too far from the hotel. The grounds of the hotel looked lush, car park was decent too. Reception was quite small but there's a big bar right next to it. The rooms are huge!! Did not expect the rooms to be so big because of the cheap price, was amazing, TV, hair dryer and glasses too, as well as a mobile phone you can borrow. Shower and bath were pretty big too, as was the whole bathroom. very very impressed with this hotel. would book again.

"Good all round"
Ghislaine334, 28 Mai 2018

Hotel is well sign posted from the main road, car parking is ample. Reception was good, bedroom was spacious as was the bathroom. Staff in both bar and restaurant were friendly and courteous. Breakfast was good with ample choice, dinner was good but a little pricey, menu was a little too “fancy” for our taste but we enjoyed what we had. The donuts hanging from the bedroom door handle when we got back in the afternoon were a nice touch (great DONUT DISTURB sign!)

"Great"
jay68680, 23 Mai 2018

Very pleasant overnight stay. Clean, comfortable bed, powerful shower, hairdryer, the usual tea coffee and biscuits. Did not use any other facilities as we only stayed from 10.30 at night until morning. There was a wedding on with some noisy guests outside but this did not trouble us too much. Very pleasant girl on the Reception desk...very helpful and interested in what we had to say. When visiting our daughter in Sheffield, we would certainly use again.

"Great value"
Glebebears81, 16 Mai 2018

We had a really comfy room with an huge bed with plenty of pillows. The bathroom had all that one would want. It was all immaculately clean. We didn't use the restaurant but the lounge was just fine with friendly staff to look after us. It was an amazingly cheap price.

"Lovely hotel"
Michelle B, 13 Mai 2018

Spent the weekend here as part of a ghost hunting weekend. Lovely place to stay, rooms clean, nothing to complain about, food and service both excellent. Breakfast very nice and service is very quick. The hotel,is always very busy, on both evenings we stayed there was a party and a wedding, which was fine but Saturday evening people in the bar got very rowdy and this affected our experience of the investigation we were doing, people should have been asked to leave if they can't behave in the correct way. Lots of history to the building, worth some research. I won't say if it's haunted, I will leave you to make up your own mind. Lovely visit to Eyam on Saturday, lovely place to go and see.

"Christmas Afternoon Tea in December 2017"
Danalar G, 05 Mai 2018

We attended Mosborough Hall in December 2017. Upon our arrival, we realised that there was a wedding ongoing during our visit, but this did not hinder our experience in any way. Served and seated promptly, we had our tea first which was then followed by our themed goodies. Tea refills were regularly offered. Sandwiches were fresh (egg mayo and watercress, turkey and cranberry, salmon and cream cheese), raisin scones were warm (always a bonus!) which was served with strawberry jam and clotted cream. Lastly, the dessert selection consisted of chocolate tart (which was delicious! Rich in flavour), a small homemade mince pie (unfortunately this was more pastry than filling) and Christmas cake slices. From our pictures, the dessert choices didn't look much, but they were certainly a perfect round off to the experience. The sandwiches were filling, no doubt, however I did feel that the quantity of sandwiches was a little more than expected, meaning that it was a slight struggle to eat the scones and desserts. We really enjoyed this themed afternoon tea and would have no hesitation in returning. Perhaps next time we could take up the offer of adding a glass of Prosecco (£5.95 per person, per glass) to accompany.

"Overnight Stay"
Geoffrey M, 05 Mai 2018

We had two double rooms and we're very happy with everything. Staff friendly and polite throughout. Overnight stay for a Uni visit. Only thing that could be better was the towel rail in the bathroom was rusty and the door needed painting.

"Beautiful Room"
Karen64loughton, 02 Mai 2018

We we're lucky enough to stay in the room with a bath in it for a very good rate and although it seemed a little tired we found it very relaxing and slept very well in its comfy bed. It does have creaking floor boards but was to be expected in a building of its age, didn't bother us when we were asleep as we were on the top floor! Staff were friendly and attentive. Only down side for us was that we had used a voucher we had been given for an afternoon tea. To be honest the sandwiches were poor. In my opinion they had been made with cheap bread and the filing was so mean it appeared to look like it came from a sandwich spread jar. None of the usual off the bone ham/beef fillings. The cakes and scones were okay. Breakfast was good.

"Red Letter Day Experience"

"Mixed..."
MIssDillie, 20 Avril 2018

Ah, the good old Best Western, that special brand that means you have NO idea what you're going to get. Ho hum. Oh dear. Four single women book in to four rooms late at night, and a bumptious young night porter calls one of us "sweetheart". And when asked not to, changes it to "duck". Hmm. Nothing like being patronised for creating the wrong impression. Bedroom - small, super clean, nice linen, over-soft and spongy mattress. Not great for a bad back. Breakfast - a delightful waitress made sure I got my kipper quickly as my taxi was en route. And I like a hotel that serves tinned grapefruit. Unfortunately, out in the attractive grounds, a gardener was having great fun with the noisiest leaf blower on the market. Has it occurred to the management that people might be trying to sleep - my colleague, for instance? And that breakfasting to the sound of extremely loud machinery is not what one stays in a hotel for? Surely that was a task that should have been delayed until after checkout time? As I say, mixed. Best Western Plus? Ho hum indeed.

"Disappointing overnight stay at this hotel."
38Joseph, 18 Avril 2018

The communal areas very dirty, ground in dirt on the floors and furnishings, windows dirty. Our bedroom carpet dirty, also bedding not clean. Safe very awkward to access in the bottom of the wardrobe. We feel that the hotel is in need of complete refurbishment and thorough deep clean. We were very disappointed to find that even though we had paid £79.00 for one night, breakfast wasn't included, this would have cost us a further £12.95 each ,considering the Hotel is a Best Weston plus it was disappointing compared to the other Best Weston Hotels we have stayed in.

"Avoid the Darcy Suite"
ssp25, 16 Avril 2018

I have stayed and eaten at the Mosborough Hall several times over the years and not felt i needed to complain. After researching several local hotels near to us so we could get away for one night i eventually chose the Mosborough Hall - i selected the most expensive room and allegedly the best in the hotel - a delux double so my expectations were high. I was hoping to get the room which is most prominent in the hotels photo gallery - the one with the in room bath - the other deluxz room was a four poster room - which to me should be advertised as a four poster room to avoid confusion for any travelers in the future. We didnt get the room i was hoping i had booked - we got the Darcy Suite - the four poster room. This room is one of the worst rooms i have ever stayed in! Every inch of the floor creaks. There is no bath at all - only a shower which trickles out at such a slow rate it was hard to even wash your hair. The bathroom windows are not obscured so you have to have the roman blinds down at all times or the people who live opposite can see right in! The room was dusty and shabby to say the least - I appreciate it is meant to be an 'old room' but there were 1 inch gaps along all the skirting - the door to the bathroom would not close properly, there was an ironing board simply propped up in the corner of the room, no fridge in the room etc - something for a delux room i expect, the lighting under the dressing table did not work and being a dark room it needed to work! The bed is uncomfortable and being 5ft 2 inch i could hardly get out of the bed without bruising the backs of my legs on the bed frame. The accessibility to even get to the rooms was something to behold - very didgy carpeting up the narrow winding staircase and at the top of said staircase a door landing to the corridor which quite frankly opens the wring way making it difficult to manoever your bags etc to enter the corridor at the top of the stairs. The stairway from the hotel to the room smelt very strongly of disinfectant all the time we were there - very offputting. When we went downstairs for a dink and dinner I did speak to the reception staff who to be fair were very helpful and appeared to fully understand my disappointment with the state of the room and appeared to be aware of how poor it is and immediately offered to discount the room and arranged for the duty manager to come to speak with us. The duty manager also gave the impression the hotel managemnt were aware of the poor state of this room and in addition to the room discount offered us our meal in the restaurant free of charge. Now don't get me wrong getting a reduction and a meal is a good reflection of their customer service in recognizing my disappointment but i would strongly recommend they discontinue advertising this room as a delux double as frankly a superior room in their extension is alot nice and cheaper. They really need to close this room and fully refurb it asap as it could be a lovely room. Finally the food - disappointing again to say the least. It was the first night of a new menu when we stayed - i ordered the 'seafood cracker' wow total dissapointment and other than some nasty tiny portion of crab mixed with what i think was maybe some cream cheese in a peapod and 4 tiny brown shrimps there was no other seafood in existence. What the black rubberish burnt bits were i still dont know. My husband had the ox cheek - that was actually very nice. Main course chicken acceptable - but then again you have to be an idiot to do chicken badly! Breakfast - well - cold undercooked poached egg - lots of clear runny bits! undercooked sausage and bacon Overall very disappointing - if you can chose else where i would recommend you do until they can get there act together

"Bed and breakfast"
User, 15 Avril 2018

Hotel and grounds were very nice The room was very clean and modern. The staff were very friendly. The only thing that let it down was the temperature of the breakfast. The choice of food was excellent, but it may help if the plates which the breakfast is served on were hot because if the scrambled egg was hot when it left the kitchen it certainly was not when it arrived at the table. If this small criticism was addressed then I would easily award 5 stars should we visit again. Thankyou.

"Afternoon tea "
Rebecca R, 13 Avril 2018

Visited as we had a voucher for afternoon tea. The staff were very friendly although the afternoon tea was average. The sandwiches had fillings spread so thin we couldn't even work out what one of them was until we looked at the menu. They were tastless really. The scones were really nice and the cakes were just ok (again one of them we couldn't worl out what it was until we looked). Wouldn't rush back for the afternoon tea, maybe for a drink in the bar.

"Terrible beds"
stevemccann42016, 30 Mars 2018

There was nothing wrong with the hotel except the mattress was so soft that it was impossible to sleep properly. That one thing ruined the stay and means I will not be booking into this Best Western again

"Good Hotel...Watch Out For Room 213 Though"
blueskies77, 24 Mars 2018

Travel to Sheffield a fair bit and usually stay in city centre. Noticed that you can park in this hotel so decided to give it a go. This is a really nice hotel set in its own grounds, with a large free car park. The bed was very comfortable. There was a flat screen TV and on the whole the room itself was pretty good. For me the breakfast was very good. In other hotels you usually get the buffet style breakfast, with the barely cooked bacon. Here the breakfast was done to order and the poached eggs where superb, the best I have ever had. The staff there were also very attentive and provided great Customer service. The one bad thing was my room. I got to the hotel at 4.30 with the aim of doing some work in my room and then relaxing. However, there was an unbelievably loud generator type noise coming from the room next door. i lasted for about an hour before I went to reception. the chap told me it was the fan room and they would go off at 9.00 pm (which they did). i was only staying 1 night so put up with it. Would I stay here again....absolutely yes....just not in room 213.

"Weekend away"
Will T, 17 Mars 2018

We arrived at about 8pm on Friday evening. Easy check-in and friendly staff. Very pretty building with a nice bar/lounge area. Very tired decor in the corridors but the room was clean and modern. Overall a very nice place to stay for the weekend.

"Mothers day "
dollmixture, 11 Mars 2018

We've just been here for a mother's day meal. Very welcoming staff, tables were beautifully set. All the mums were given a glass of fizz. The meal itself was served quickly and efficiently. There were only 4 on our table but we all enjoyed our different meals. We would definitely recommend this place.. we had a lovely time thank you to all the staff!

"A quick get a way"
CBkit, 04 Mars 2018

we needed to see family, Mrs B and I were greeted by a lovely warm and sincere young lady, although the weather was (poo), all was ok - the room was clean, warm and very comfortable, the site was ideal for the family visit, shops and not too far off the motorway

"Poor Quality Food in Restaurant"
Les W, 25 Février 2018

Came for the weekend, Hotel was in nice surroundings, rooms were on the small size but still comfortable the only trouble was the Restaurant. 1st night ordered a seafood spaghetti which was brought to us cold and asked for it to be returned and instead of a new dish was given the same plate warmed up. The next morning for breakfast half the Full English Breakfast was cold and half hot ?? On following evening we ordered Pork Chops which were so tough could not cut this went for a few others in the Restaurant who had same dish. Lastly next morning waited 30 mins for breakfast. Sorry to say for a nice Hotel where weddings and parties take place on a regular basis the food lets its down.

"Disappointing afternoon tea"
iguana_9, 24 Février 2018

Unusual hotel consisting of different age buildings joined together by a modern conservatory. Plenty of parking. Sat in the oldest lounge for afternoon tea. Had to order at the bar no waitress came to the lounge. 3 types of afternoon tea were on offer. We chose the dessert afternoon tea. The sandwiches were ham , egg mayo and cream cheese and cucumber. Asked for cheese instead of ham and just cucumber...no cream cheese. What we received were cheese with ham, egg mayo and solely cream cheese sandwiches. The scones were warm. There were 4 slices of cake which were very heavy...need to use Mary berry's recipes! No desserts. There was no finesse in the presentation. Ran out of tea but I had to return to the bar as no waitress checked to see if we were ok. On bringing fresh pot of tea, the waitress didn't bother removing the old one. Cheap and cheerful tea...would have been better if the staff were more attentive and interested in doing their job!

"Best Best Western Plus"
Valerie R, 22 Février 2018

The hotel was nothing less than fabulous. Yes, the room was hot when we entered but we turned the radiator down and opened the windows. The whole place was spotless, the room was large and had everything we required. We dined there on both nights, I had the chicken two ways, it was to die for. The breakfast had everything you could have wanted. The staff throughout the hotel were friendly and helpful .

"Lovely setting for afternoon tea"
Terry C, 19 Février 2018

I was looking for a nice place to take my parents for an afternoon tea treat and found Mosborough Hall Hotel online. We had our afternoon tea in Darcy's Bar which is a modern glass and wood structure that seems to have been stuck on the side of this beautiful period property. We arrived at the hotel reception who directed us through to the bar. Whilst waiting at the bar we were initially ignored by the young man working behind the bar. Although he was taking drinks to a table, he returned twice to the bar to retrieve more drinks and didn't even acknowledge us. When he eventually came back he showed us to our table. One thing that did put me off a little was the young man's habit of running his fingers through his fringe, something he did several times. I don't think he went and washed his hands. Afternoon tea came and it looked very attractive. Large warm scones with jam and lots of cream, pieces of madeira and carrot cake and some mini trifles in shot glasses were a nice touch. The sandwiches were a little disappointing. Egg, cream cheese and cucumber, and ham and mustard. Unfortunately my dad was unable to eat any of these but enjoyed the scones and trifle. We generally enjoyed the afternoon tea in pleasant surroundings. When we were ready to leave, I went to the bar to pay. There were a couple of pieces of carrot cake left and asked if they could be wrapped up. Having paid the bill, the young man from behind the bar then left the bar to go and chat to the receptionist. After ten minutes we presumed he wouldn't be returning to wrap up the cakes and put our coats on. As there is a bit of an incline from the car park to the hotel, I went to bring the car to the handy drop-off/pick-up spaces outside the bar and reception. As my wife and parents were getting into the car, I saw the barman come out of the back with a foil package, look around and then throw the package on the end of the bar. I went back in to ask if the foil package was my cakes to take home. The barman told me they were but said that I had to sign a waiver form as I was taking the food away. Overall not the best afternoon tea I have had but not the worst, just a little strange.

"Peter Friendly Place of Rest"
peterloveshiscomfort, 18 Février 2018

Convenient retreat within visiting distance of Sheffield, Rotherham, and Chester. We (wife and I) have stayed twice with our dog Danny in the last four months. Staff are very friendly and helpful, and make you feel welcome. Prices - £90 B&B for two, plus £20 for Danny. Bar prices - £4.85 for a pint of Guinness, £7.11 for a 250ml Rose. We ate at the hotel in the evening, I had the steak pie (£15) with a portion of Broccoli (£3). They charged £3 for a portion of garlic ciabatta which was in fact a couple of slices with a surface area probably less than that of a slice of toast, which I felt was poor value for money. The room (this time) was over a reception and was hot, so we slept with the end open. We were lucky as there wasn't too much going on, but if they had a wedding reception I think that you would know about it as we were disturbed, so rooms to avoid are 201/202. Bed didn't feel right, almost as if it were slanting and you were falling out. Parking is fine and car secure. Total bill of £196 for three rounds of drinks, two evening meals, two breakfasts and Danny's surcharge, so not too bad overall, but would look for a different room next tome around.

Twink_Toes_77, 18 Février 2018

Stayed here for two nights this week as I working in the area. The first night was valentine's day, and it can only be described as a disaster. Room service dinner for one on the first night - the first two choices were not available the compromise dinner was awful and sent back. I was lied to by the person who took my dinner order. The second night was much better. The wifi reception in your room is intermittent and the bar area can be very cold at times. On the whole, the staff are generally quite friendly and helpful.

"3 day conference "
JohnS53, 09 Février 2018

Stayed here for a 3 day 2 night company conference, had a great stay, easy check in and out, lovely staff, bar and restaurant great, the room was of a good size with quality fixtures and fittings, my only criticism was that it was very hot in the room despite turning off all the radiators and being on the ground floor it wasn't practical to have the window open, apart from that small point I'd thoroughly recommend it, I intend to return soon for a weekend away.

"One night stay "
Baines66, 04 Février 2018

"Get what you pay for"
newlandsuk, 24 Janvier 2018

Nicely located hotel on the edge of Mosborough, nice grounds, easy friendly check in. Room was huge and included all the usual bits and pieces, 2 criticisms if the room, 1. the blast of heat when I went into the room, I could have cooked a frozen pizza in a couple if minutes in that heat 2. Light just not enough in the room, bathroom was fine for light. Breakfast was all the usual, feed your face continental and order your hot, which was a bit stingy, but it was tasty. Staff you couldn't fault friendly to a T especially the 2 housekeepers who helped with finding me some toothpaste. Oh there was one more thing the room cards stopped working seems it's a time thing, so after breakfast back to your room before 9:30 or its a walk back to reception or find the nearest housekeeper. I would like to says its good, but trip advisor seem to want to pump money into selling rooms than a bit of development to add an extra star.

"great stay"
sasmum, 23 Janvier 2018

Great room lovely building, staff are fantastic. Quiet location. We have stayed several times and enjoyed every visit. Breakfast is quite basic if you don't want full English but still good. Good shopping very close and other eating places close. The atmosphere is lovely and relaxing and we will continue to stay. If there is a negative it would be the evening menu certainly nothing else. Nice quiet village but not far to go to other places.

"Weekend away"
debbiedavis1995, 22 Janvier 2018

A beautiful hotel in lovely grounds. Every member of staff were really warm and approachable. Hotel was spotless and the food was outstanding, compliments especially for our evening meal all 3 courses were stunning. A super weekend did us both and we would definitely go back and recommend to couples and families.

"Super room. Tried the executive and wasn't disappointed "
r8wls, 11 Janvier 2018

Having stayed here earlier in the year and been a little underwhelmed. I chose to book an executive room! Wow what a difference. I will certainly return and book the same standard of accommodation. Very impressed and breakfast was great too. ??

"Shopping and sightseeing"
Kim W, 09 Janvier 2018

We have stayed at Mosborough Hall Hotel about 15 times now. Getting good accommodation in the Peak District at short notice can be hard but if you don't mind staying just out of the area then this is a great vantage point only 40 minutes from Bakewell and an hour from Buxton. It is also close to the Crystal Peak Shopping Village and an easy drive to Meadowhall. The food and service are consistently good and the rooms are smart and comfortable.

"Xmas in Britain"
Bruce2563, 07 Janvier 2018

Lovely hotel and very friendly staff. The room we had was really good and the bed was very comfortable. The meals in the restaurant where really good and very reasonable priced. Good selection of meals. This hotel has a really interesting history.

"Lovely afternoon tea "
Likest0eat0ut, 06 Janvier 2018

Popped here for a birthday lunch. Afternoon tea at £10.95 was fab. Sandwiches lovely, cakes and scones fab. They are not tight on the cream either! Staff were lovely from start to finish! Service brilliant! Thanks for a lovely afternoon!

"Quiet, Relaxing Stay"
Roswellcop, 04 Janvier 2018

This was the second BW period property we stayed at this week. We also stayed at their other property Kenwood Hall. We had two rooms, one was a double and the other was a 3 person. The double was a little small but was big enough for 2 for just one night. The room for 3 was a double bed and a sleeper sofa. Room was a nice size and the bathroom was clean and excellent. The hotel does not have a pool which is a shame, but it does have an excellent bar and restaurant which was reasonably priced and had great vibes. We also had breakfast included which was excellent, made to order full English or pretty much anything else you could want. Staff was excellent and would highly recommend.

"Happy New Year "
User, 03 Janvier 2018

Stayed three nights while visiting family nearby. A huge thank you to the fabulous staff for their helpful and genuine customer service. After a change of room we were very happy with the space and cleanliness. Shower could be better but a minor inconvenience. Rooms were cleaned very quickly often before we finished breakfast! Bar and dining staff absolutely brilliant, welcoming our dog and spoiling him with sausages for breakfast. All food was very good and the New Year's dinner was lovely. Well done to receptionist who even popped up to check on our dog during our meal. All in all the staff make the hotel! Best Western should be proud of everyone. Thank you!

"New Years Eve "
Gavin D, 01 Janvier 2018

Booked this early as we wanted to do something different for New Year and found the price reasonable. The room 105 was perfect for what we needed with a good comfortable bed and a good shower/bath. The room had all the usual facilities, TV , hairdryer and shower gels etc. The meal was excellent and served in a timely manner by very attentive staff who went out of their way to make sure our night went without a hitch. The entertainment was a fantastic singer who kept the mood of the evening bubbly. All this was followed by a disco that kept us dancing into the New Year. The following morning we were served an excellent breakfast that couldn't be faulted , along with a late checkout that rounded off a fantastic visit.

"Christmas wedding and New Year's Eve "
Will S, 01 Janvier 2018

We visited Mosborough hall for a friends wedding on the 23/12/17. The venue was fantastic. The atmosphere in this place is amazing with friendly staff who can't do enough and the food was simply stunning and well priced for the quality. We had arranged to stay in mount pleasant (another best western) in doncaster for New Year's Eve but was informed due to a private function that we would not be able to use the restaurant and the bar, making the stay very expensive just to be locked in the bedroom. We told the staff at the Mosborough Hall about this and they couldn't do enough to help us out. We was offered one of the bridal suites with the deep bath and a beautiful 4 course meal and breakfast for just over the cost of a room in the mount pleasant. This room was far superior, the food excellent and the customer service far better then we have received before in the mount pleasant. Thanks for a wonderful couple of stays over xmas and new year to everyone at this hotel, safe to say we will definitely choose here rather than our local best western hotel

"New years eve"
Beth L, 31 Décembre 2017

Came for a wedding last weekend and was fantastic, staff great, food great and room spot on. On the night of the wedding we booked to come here NYE wow best choice ever, 4 course meal spot on, food was beautiful, entertainment great, staff just couldn't do enough for you. Really enjoyed our stay in Roberts room. Booking again for NYE this year. Staff go out there way to do anything for you. Breakfast next morning great, hot food is made to order.

"Enjoyable Visit"
Annielou11, 28 Décembre 2017

Stayed one night on business. Room was very spacious with everything I needed. wifi signal was good and enabled me to work. Staff in both bar and reception friendly and efficient. Room service prompt and tasty. Breakfast a good choice and cooked to order.

"Over priced & failed Christmas Party"
Clarelebear, 26 Décembre 2017

A group of 15 hard working people in need of a good night out to let their hair down. £34.95 a head for 3 courses. The function room was cold, there were ice cubes in the hand wash basin the the disabled toilet which was bang across from the bar!! The DJ was shocking, the starters arrived.....luke warm “soup” that tasted like the water you'd drain off veg after cooking it. The pate “parfait” came with 2 rock hard lumps of bread? Which we daren't eat in fear of breaking teeth. The mains arrived...turkey had half an inch of fat on it, never seen turkey with that amount of fat on!! And the fat was striped too?? Why?? Who knows. The veg were hard and undercooked, unable to get a knife through it to chop it!! A small amount of other veg accompanied the meal were also rock hard and seemed undercooked. There were about 4 sprouts in the dishes which also contained carrot batons and a few and I mean a few pieces of broccoli. The dessert was the only edible course but was tiny. I wouldn't recommend this place and can tell you how relieved I am that I didn't have my wedding here!! The place had no atmosphere and was as good as empty before 11pm. Avoid at all costs as it's not worth the price tag!!

"Terrible"
miner286, 22 Décembre 2017

My wife and I went for Christmas lunch at 16-95 per head on fixed menu At the time we ordered our meal we were the only two in the resteraunt There was a wedding in progress in the stables at the time The first course was ok but then things went downhill very fast The main course arrived all the vegetables were undercooked and could not be cut As we were the only two people in the resteraunt we were amazed at the length of time we had to wait which was quite a long time and I mentioned this to the waitress at the time who said sorry Then the next course listed as Christmas pudding with brandy sauce arrived but was two thin slices of Christmas pudding with custard and not was what was stated on the menu From our experience on this particular day it would appear that management were giving preference to wedding parties Greg dyke originally of the FA saved this hotel from administration so may I suggest to him he visits the resteraunt unannounced and sample the food and service for himself It may be that wedding parties are preferred due to the revenue they generate It turned out to be a very expensive meal for the quality of food and service we received and this was on a Friday There can be no excuse for this

"Always guaranteed a good stay and good food"
Stonewalker, 22 Décembre 2017

We used to live in this locality so it is a good hotel for us for visiting friends and also looking around the area. We used the park and ride facility (for the tram) which is very close by. The staff are very friendly, but what do you expect, it is Sheffield. The restaurant food is excellent and the breakfast is excellent with plenty of variation. The only reason I have not given it a 5 is that the room we stayed in was at the bottom floor in a corner beside the outer wall. The room was clean and large enough for the two of us but it was just a bit dark (time of year I suppose). It was good to have a room safe. The toiletries are good and plenty. All in all a good 2 night stay and we are planning a few more nights for the summer to have a walk around the area.

"Amazing wedding venue!"
Kelly K, 18 Décembre 2017

What a perfect day! The venue and the staff could not have been any better, from start to finish the day was magical and the room so amazingly dressed. The food was 5* and the hotel rooms just perfect! I cannot recommend the hotel and the staff enough.

"Business Stay"
ThreeWelshKings, 16 Décembre 2017

Stayed in this hotel because my usual hotel was fully booked. Bit of a walk from the car park particularly when it was quite icy. Friendly and helpful receptionist who was very efficient. The room was fine and well appointed. However the communal areas such as the corridors and the bar were very cold The restaurant was a little soulless but the food and service were good. Breakfast was very good The hotel does not live up to expectations as a country house hotel as apart from the outside, nothing else says country house, and certainly does not match the price tag. Not a bad hotel but I would still prefer my alternative

"Made so very welcome...."
mrsmiller43, 15 Décembre 2017

Been coming to this hotel for meetings for ages and eventually stayed over last week with my dog. The staff were very welcoming, brought the dog a bowl of water at the same time as another staff member brought my coffee! Really comfortable stay, the room was fresh, not at all 'doggy' and the staff, without exception, were lovely. Gorgeous breakfast selection, hand cut Yorkshire Ham and some really good cheeses and Longley Farm yoghurt (if you're from Yorkshire, you'll understand!!!) And the dog got his own sausages for breakfast...... Really lovely stay, thank you.

"Could be Good"
Schlussel53, 14 Décembre 2017

Very attractive from outside. Interior does not reflect the Old Country House. Dining room no carpets (easy to clean) no curtains, dirty windows, so very noisy. Piped music too loud. Evening meal was VERY tasty and well priced. Beds SUPER comfy, comfiest I have slept in. Staff generally very helpful. Reported that normal car was parked in Electric Charging Bay (main reason I had chosen the hotel) so blocking it. Zero action taken. Car blocked it for two days of my stay. Overall impression, staff trying very hard to please. But evidence everywhere of cost saving methods (other than bedrooms which were very good). Would I go back? Perhaps.

"Warm Welcome Good Location"
deborah34walker, 13 Décembre 2017

Arrived Sunday 10th December during snow storm. Very warm room and easy check in. Clean comfortable room. Good location for bus or park and ride into Sheffield. Close enough to the village to walk and visit local pubs and shops.

"Christmas Party Night Away"
DazProv, 10 Décembre 2017

Stayed in the Robert de Stuteville Suite in the Old Hall, accessed via a narrow curved staircase. The corridor was dated and in need of freshening up. The room was very large with period headboard and furniture, room featured a lovely free standing deep bath tub.Although the deep mattress looked rather soft it was in fact very comfortable. The ensuite was very modern with a walk in shower, which was rather slippy and no where to put your shower gel etc.The room in general could do with a lick of paint and a new carpet. Breakfast was of a high standard with plenty of choice.

"Another superb stady"
mat_stoke, 09 Décembre 2017

I've spent a couple of weeks at this hotel in 2017 - any many, may weeks in the past 6 years - and I'm happy to say that whilst staff have changed over the years, and various changes and upgrades have been seen, the things that really matter have always been consistent: * Friendly and welcoming team * Great service * Clean and comfortable rooms * Delicious food * Great breakfast selections * Sensibly priced bar with lots of choice I look forward to returning soon! As for an earlier review that I have seen stating that the "internet doesn't work" - please ignore it - the high speed internet does work; I've had multiple devices connected in all areas of the hotel.

"Great family and pet friendly hotel"
B3823RWtinap, 06 Décembre 2017

Lovely room, comfy bed with a big flat screen TV. The restaurant has a good choice of dishes and wine. The hotel is in a nice quiet setting with several country walks near by but within a short drive of the cosmopolitan city of Sheffield .

"Internet doesn't work"
garyjbowles, 29 Novembre 2017

Second time we've visited in 2 months. The internet hasn't worked in the rooms or lobby either time. I asked the receptionist about it – she looked sheepish and said she'd reset the router – still didn't work.

"Wedding Sunday 26th November 2017"
Julie C, 29 Novembre 2017

Both my husband and I had a brilliant day, the staff where very attentive and the food was fabulous. Special thanks to The Event Manager Pat and her team and all the staff who worked on Sunday. ??????

"Good value"
cooley02, 28 Novembre 2017

The hotel is lovely and looks very impressive. Our room was lovely and very spacious for a standard room and very clean and well kept. The lounge and bar areas are again very nice and clean etc Unfortunately the staff just let the hotel down a little. The hotel could be incredibly impressive with just a bit more attention from the staff. The receptionist on check in for example didn't tell us when breakfast was served or where it was served. I asked if we could eat in the bar for dinner- he said yes until 9pm so we went to the bar at 7:30pm. The bar menu was on the tables and we went to order and the bar lady said the bar was not serving food, it finished at 6pm. Why were the menus out and the receptionist not aware then? We ate in the restaurant (a lady with very long hair) said you're not booked in though, but I have a table but it's better to book in. The food was ok nothing impressive and over priced for what it is. The bar staff and restaurant staff were busy chatting - no issue with this but don't do it in ear shot of customers. It's a shame as I said. The hotel is lovely and brilliant location. In my opinion the staff just need a little bit of customer service training

"Fabulous afternoon"
Joanne H, 28 Novembre 2017

Had a surprise afternoon tea party for my mum , fantastic afternoon the room (Old hall ) was perfect set up beautifully the staff couldn't do enough to help us & everybody had a great time would definatly reccomend

"FOOTBALL TRIALS"
Paul S, 20 Novembre 2017

The Hotel and our room was clean, the staff friendly and breakfast was definitely value for money It is a 15 minute walk to the nearest pub that serves food as the restaurant is only open certain times of the day

"Christmas Fayre"
11Alicat, 20 Novembre 2017

Got there late afternoon to avoid crowds, (although still fairly busy) to see the Christmas crafts. Everything very squashed, difficult to see stalls. Gave up and went for a hot chocolate in the bar. Drink was cold, they did sort of apologise for running out of saucers and napkins. Tables dirty, lots of litter on the floor and place generally a mess. Went to the loo, again not clean but somehow managed to smell strongly of cheap toilet cleaner and sick. Have been to several Christmas Fayres elsewhere which were great, but this one wasn't well organised and definitely more staff needed to cope with everything and to keep better standards. Won't be back.

"Beautiful hotel, tasty food and friendly staff"
Karen J, 15 Novembre 2017

My husband and I needed to stay in Sheffield for a friend's birthday party. We stayed in the Lord John Darcy Suite which was a complete treat! Beautiful old four poster bed (very comfortable!) The food in Darcy's Brasserie restaurant was very tasty and the staff were lovely and friendly. Would definitely stay there again!

"Our amazing wedding day!"
Helen W, 15 Novembre 2017

I started planning my wedding almost 2 years ago and as soon as we visited Mosborough Hall we knew it was the perfect venue for us. Jodie and Pat (our wedding coordinators) have been so amazing all the way through, nothing has been too much trouble and they have just been so lovely and supportive; we will definitely miss seeing them as often! On the day all of the staff were just incredible; really friendly and on hand to help out with anything that was needed, especially Jodie who really looked after me. Our guests commented on how attentive and fantastic the staff were, and also on how amazing the food was! And having the pizza oven at our wedding reception went down a treat! Our day couldn't have gone any better and I wouldn't change a single thing. Thank you so much to Jodie, Pat, Sky, Sam and all the staff at Mosborough Hall for making our wedding day so special and perfect! We will definitely be back for meals and anniversaries!

"Lovely Hotel"
Blackie_X, 11 Novembre 2017

Thoroughly loved this. Although I only needed a place to stay overnight as I was on my way further north (on holiday), I wanted something pleasant, to be in keeping with a holiday. I was not disappointed: turning off the road to see the beautiful building was very welcoming. My room was in the annex, overlooking the parking area, and I was very happy to look out and see my car whenever I wanted. The room itself was quite large, and very comfortable. For dinner, I did wander out into the village, but I couldn't see a place I liked. I enjoyed the wander, then returned to investigate the dinner options. I was very pleased with my choice of food: local sausages. I found them very filling so didn't have dessert - but the choices were very tempting. I can't comment on breakfast because I had booked room-only. I also used the WiFi and found it reliable. I intend to return next year.

"ALWAYS PLEASANT"
StephBB1210, 02 Novembre 2017

I have stayed here half a dozen times over the past couple of months and have always found the hotel and staff to be pleasant and welcoming. Check in is always friendly and efficient and perhaps the only criticism that I could offer is that the rooms are sometimes a bit warm. Have already booked to return next week.

"Meal wasn't worth the price"
Carla7942, 27 Octobre 2017

I recently had lunch here to celebrate my friends wedding. Though the restaurant was nice and the table was nicely set up I was very disappointed in the quaity of the food. We had a 3 course meal which was pre-booked and was £25 each. I had a lamb kofta stater which was ok, but I got one tiny little kofta and a massive pile of cucumber. For main I had sausage and mash, which again was just ok. The dessert was the biggest let down. I had lemon tart and though the lemon top was nice the pastry was terrible. It was very very undercooked and doughy and horrible. I had one bite and just scraped the lemon topping off and ate that. Everyone else around me was the same too. Overall the food was poor, and for £25 I've had far better pub lunches.

"Shocking and will not be back"
pheonix1965, 25 Octobre 2017

When asked for all of my details I only asked the receptionist why they did not have my details as I have stayed here on numerous occasions to be told that they did not have anything so I asked if they had my Best Western Rewards Number to be told no as it was booked through Expedia and I would not be eligible for reward points errmmm I did not ask about rewards points but pointed out if that was the case why was I a platinum member needless to say there is much more to this conversation but as a customer the check in service was appalling and I will ensure I avoid this establishment sadly your loss

"Wedding reception "
em546, 08 Octobre 2017

We went to a family wedding here in September and had a fantastic time. The staff were very welcoming, helpful and friendly. I would like to mention Joe Caira who went out of his way to help us enjoy our stay, couldn't do enough for us. Would definately recommend.

"Lovely Room"
AbbyLemaDalton, 05 Octobre 2017

Stayed here on first visit on business. Was upgraded to a suite and was not disappointed. Had a great meal too would recommend. Waiter found it very difficult to split our bill which is a norm for groups of business people so that was a a bit unnecessary but apart from that was good.

"Sadly to say - wish we'd gone to Premier Inn"
Damian P, 27 Septembre 2017

We stayed on a Friday & Saturday night over the August bank holiday whilst attending a wedding locally. As it was our first weekend away without our two young boys we were very much looking forward to what we believed would be our sumptuous and exquisite hotel. Unfortunately, our room could be described as cosy - at best! The small window overlooked the kitchen bins and whilst we weren't there for the view the late night and early morning emptying of glass etc into these bins was disturbing! In respect of food service the staff were all very pleasant but standards were again not what we expected of such a hotel. E.g. I had barely started eating my cereals when our cooked breakfast arrived and a hair sticking out of my pint on the first night also wasn't appreciated. And all this for more than £200 - room only - for the weekend! Much room for improvement or reduce prices to better reflect the quality of the rooms.

"food"
Holly F, 19 Septembre 2017

love the history of the hotel i only a few minutes away but only put off going more as the food is TERRIBLE to say the least . the chief needs tone retrained or sacked i could do a better job.the dining room has terrible POP art of famous Sheffield bands which is total not in keeping with the history of the hotel . broken panel in one of the windows clearly not up keeping this stunning grade 2 listed building to the standard it deserves . the bar area needs TLC as the sofas and tables need replacing . I'm all of dogs coming into the bar but they sit on the sofas ...no problem if they maintain the furniture but thats n to the case . first plan of action change the chef

"Poor food, poor service "
lou21371, 17 Septembre 2017

Came here for my mum's birthday - the service was painfully slow even though there was hardly anyone in the restaurant, when the food eventually arrived it was cold, the roast was fatty, gravy way too salty - not good at all - will not be returning

"One night stay"
chefathon, 10 Septembre 2017

The room was clean and a good size. Unfortunately under a stairway that seemed to be used regularly throughout the night. Beds were comfortable.Out look a bit grim - narrow gravel strip of ground. If you need a twin room ask for one on the ground floor. It will have a wet room , no bath but that beats the noise. Breakfast is good but don't leave it too late. More attention need to the mcleaning of the lounge bar area. Crumbs dropped on floor night before still there 10am next day.

"Brilliant"
Tonyholland233, 09 Septembre 2017

From start to finish we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.At check in the lady on reception was very good. The room was spotless with everything we needed,tea/coffee and biscuits. In the en suit were shower gell, shampoo, soap and flannel and lovely fluffy towels. The breakfast set us up for the day with a full English including my favourite Black pudding. Nice big car park as well.We slept very well as the hotel was very quiet at night ,a surprise considering the size of the place and it was full

"Beautiful"
Samyanther , 06 Septembre 2017

Beautiful rooms . Staff polite and helpful. Only stayed 1 night for a wedding but was very impressed . Great value for money-boutique style hotel rooms . Breakfast was good . Good range of cold and hot food . Would stay again and would recommend.

"Business Stay"
geoffh417, 31 Août 2017

My only confusion was where the Reception was located. I saw a number of doors and the signage could be improved, however look past the glass walls of the lounge bar (if you park in the first parking area as I did) and there is Reception. The staff greeted me enthusiastically and dealt with my reservation efficiently. The Internet code etc is a little small on the key card but the receptionist kindly wrote it larger for me. The Restaurant and bar are staffed by very efficient but still friendly members of the team. The hotel was well situated for my purposes and would be a quiet oasis if you were visiting Sheffield city, relax in the bar and enjoy some well prepared food in the restaurant. Breakfast was paced to suit the individual.

"Wedding!"
tasmynpia, 29 Août 2017

Our wedding was held at Mosborough Hall and what a perfect venue and perfect team! Both Lucy & Pat couldn't do enough for us and Lucy helped us all the way through from the preparations to the day! The grounds and the hotel are stunning. Again, thank you for everything you two did for us, it was the most amazing day! Thank you

"Nice place!"
Aitch5, 23 Août 2017

Overnight stay with a friend enroute elsewhere. Staff were friendly and the hotel was clean and welcoming. We had afternoon tea in the bar and this was good value for money and as good as I've had at twice the price. Breakfast was ordered through the waitress and arrived hot...a nice change from buffet style which many hotels use. Highly recommended.

"Great hotel, friendly sevice"
722dean, 21 Août 2017

Service was great, fab location and grounds. Comfy rooms and food quality very good. We have stayed here a number of times....highly recommended, We will be booking again in the future. Nothing is too much trouble, great efforts made to ensure our stay was a good one.

"Good value - but not if you have a dog!"
Michelle158, 21 Août 2017

The first room we were allocated on arrival was very small indeed, and reminded me of student accommodation. This was particularly disappointing, as we had a dog with us, and there was hardly any room for her to lie on the floor. Fortunately (!), due to a problem with the internet, we were offered an alternative - Room 213. This was thankfully bigger, but similarly as drab in decor. In fact the whole place reminded us of an old people's home - except the public toilets, which were actually quite nice! And then, as we settled down for the night, we became acutely aware of the drone of the generator - as I now note a few people have mentioned on here. The irritating noise of this, coupled with loud and drunken people in the car park (not the hotel's fault), did not bode well for a good night's sleep. Breakfast was average, and the waitress looked like she had lost the will to live. If the hotel hadn't been pre-paid, we would have driven home that day, as this was the last leg of a touring holiday - and a real downer to end on. Sadly, the second night and morning were a repeat of the first... On check-out, I wasn't asked if everything had been ok, but I did mention the noise inside the room. My comments were given a dismissive reply, that the source of the noise is on a timer, and so there shouldn't have been a problem. I also commented that £20 a night for a dog was extortionate (for that calibre of hotel) - though we did appreciate the bag of treats. The answer to that was that it is a flat rate policy across all Best Western hotels. Clearly the receptionist is not in full knowledge of the facts; we had stayed at Leeds Milford (BW Plus) only the previous week, which had cost us only £7.50 per night for our hound - and that was superior hotel, in comparison! All in all, a relatively cheap but cheerless stay - if we hadn't brought the dog...

"Reasonable Hotel For A Stop Over"
Gary G, 13 Août 2017

Comfortable hotel, rooms adequate and not too noisy. Restaurant was fair, staff were friendly and helpful. Bar snack menu was reasonable, although serving your food on over-sized plates doesn't add anything.

"Not somewhere for live music!!"
Aidan S, 11 Août 2017

This is a deliberately neutral review as the place and the staff are lovely. Last night I was part of a band booked to play a wedding at Mosborough Hall. Upon arrival the staff were great, the room fantastic and everything looked to be set for a great night until the dreaded words "sound limiter" were mentioned. The limiter is set at a very very conservative 90dB (although our sound meter was only registering 87dB when it cut all the power to the room during the first song!!! To provide some context, this is comparable to the noise of a lorry or tractor sitting in traffic, and significantly quieter than a Walkman on half volume (95dB) or a motorbike (100dB). Despite what the venue will tell you, this simply isn't suitable for a live band. The drums alone can hit 90dB - we didn't have anything amplified through the PA last night and had to turn the vocals down to a barely audible level. As I'm sure you will appreciate, this simply doesn't work for either the band or the audience!!! My verdict on Mosborough Hall as a party venue is that it is lovely if you want a string quartet or something similar but not somewhere to book a live band - even your average live band at normal volumes is around 110dB.

"Excellent wedding"
Sue L, 04 Août 2017

Went for a wedding - had a sit down barbecue food was lovely - plenty of room to sit and dance. Beds were very comfy. Beer was cold but only one choice of bitter. Hotel prices but you expect that? Would go again

"Nice room and great coffee."
Silvascoop, 02 Août 2017

Stayed for two nights and loved the place. Room was quiet, clean and very comfortable. Minor niggle was the handle for the loo fell off, reception promised it would be repaired, (Room 216), we'll see. Food was good and the breakfast as expected, with really good coffee, and lots of it. Staff very friendly and helpful. Look out for 'The Big Chips' They really are BIG! No complaints and will visit again.

"Very mediocre stay"
alibram, 02 Août 2017

Lots of little things that overall added up to a very poor visit to this hotel. From the receptionist trying to check people in whilst dealing with an obviously difficult phone call. A bar that was full to over flowing with afternoon tea guests/hen parties and baby showers and then learning that this was actually the residents lounge too. No glass offered at the bar for my drink and then given a dirty glass which was changed without an apology or acknowledgement that it was dirty. An executive room that was anything but. A dirty basin in the bathroom that I had to clean before I could use. We had 2 rooms - 213/214 both very noisy as others have previously mentioned with fans. Granted these were turned off at our request but came back on at 6.30am. The earliest dinner booking we could get was 8.30pm which was our own mistake for not prebooking. However you would then expect the restaurant to be full at that time? We were the only diners... very average food. The breakfast was atrocious with burnt bacon and scrambled egg that was totally unrecognisable. Whilst I appreciate that the hotel have been more than generous in dealing with our complaints and the staff were as helpful as they could be this hotel needs to either up its game to reflect its charges or drop its prices and cater to the masses. Would I recommended this hotel? No. Would I stay here again? No. Save your money and find a Premier Inn or Travelodge. At least you know where you are with them!

"Resturant is disgusting"
D8500LWroberts, 25 Juillet 2017

You need to plan an hour to get food, shout at staff to move dishes, check the fish is not hard and bruised before accepting it. The chips are the size of soggy boats, the burger was a dry lump of minced meat with the smallest amout of cheese posible. The pork loin was a slab of dry meat, The lamb chops were small piece of fatty bone. Resturant is not good.

"Nice but noisy "
Phil L, 22 Juillet 2017

Visited last night Nice comfy settees in conservatory But the noise from the bar staff was unbelievable One guy with a funny hair cut was throwing bottles in the bottle bath like he hated life And all you could all night was him cleaning glasses He tried to clear our table of glasses even though we hadn't finished Didn't spoil the night totally but it was hard trying to relax and talk with that constant noise if you do go for a drink don't sit near the bar area

""Banished to the Dungeons""

"Cracking stay and a great restaurant"
JamesANDaimee, 20 Juillet 2017

James: I stayed in two rooms over 3 nights in this hotel for a work trip and cannot fault it. Sadly I have no pictures of the rooms but they were both very well appointed and had everything you would expect, and set in the old section of the hotel I was lucky to have original oak beams solid walls which seems to be a rare thing in most large hotels these days. Staff were friendly and nice I would really recommend this hotel. I had dinner at the restaurant on my second night and it was great. For the main I had lamb chops, peas and a lamb sauce. I asked for my lamb to be cooked medium. It came out absolutely perfect - seasoned well and cooked to perfection. Because I had a good main I had to order a desert which came in the form of a summer pudding with cream and fresh berrys. I loved it because it was exactly what I ordered. No messing about. Simple done well etc etc. Great restaurant, great hotel. Aimee: (Wasn't with me this time) :(

"Fantastic hotel"
thomasjQ420BQ, 17 Juillet 2017

I attended Mosbptough Hall hotel for a wedding. I stayed for one night in the hotel and found there to be ample on site parking, clean and comfortable rooms and polite and courteous staff. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone requiring a room in the area. The bed was extremely comfortable and I enjoyed one of the best nights sleep I've had in ages!

"Nice hotel but rooms and facilities need attention"
annabel_1956, 16 Juillet 2017

My partner and I stayed at the hotel for one night. We were warmly welcomed and the receptionist helped us with our luggage to room 213 as my husband has had a stroke and there were no disabled rooms available. The room was near a generator or extractor fan and there was a constant loud hum which was very irritating, although it did go off at about 11pm. Despite it being a very cool and rainy night the room was hot and stuffy, I guess it must be over the boiler room or something and there was only a tiny window to open. The bed was rather small, very soft and the linen rough. The shower was in the bath, which is dangerous and slippery, especially if you have had a stroke. The shower is fixed which make it difficult to rinse your hair as the pressure was not amazing. The facilities in the room were very limited, no water, tea, coffee, mini bar etc. The hotel welcomes dogs but does not allow them in the breakfast room. The staff were very kind and set us up a table in the bar and also provided good service. The breakfast was average. There was no marmalade and the coffee was average. The wifi did not work on my mac. I stay in hotel frequently and have never had a problem connecting before. The staff were very friendly and a credit to the hotel. They reacted quickly to requests with smiles on their faces. They were polite and respectful. As always I am going to have a gripe about the extra £20 we were charged for our dog. I don't mind being charged a reasonable amount for her but £20 is a little excessive for a tiny, clean dog who stayed there for less than 12 hours.

"Convenient stopover"
Q5539AAmikeo, 05 Juillet 2017

Single, business stopover. Short distance from motorways, rural setting. Plenty of parking, friendly staff throughout. Bed was very soft, but otherwise the room was fine and certainly very clean. Modern bar area with outside seating.

"One of the best in this area"
Steve D, 27 Juin 2017

We stayed overnight whilst attending a party close by. Beautiful location & grounds. Made to feel welcome straight away on arrival & rooms were spacious & clean but no real wow factor. I think typical Best Western so as you would expect. We had some confusion re: breakfast cost which initially on the web site was included but later withdrawn. I suggest they rethink this because we generally look for hotels where breakfast in included. However breakfast (full English) was excellent & served at the table rather than a buffet type .... much better. Overall enjoyable stay & we would stay again in the future.

"Nice place , wrong time"
topmoggy, 25 Juin 2017

Stayed overnight, nice hotel in lovely settings. Excellent greeting on reception and got us in our room early.unfortunately we had booked on a wedding weekend.Due to this not must seating area because they all congregated at the top bar instead of the building across the green. Chose to venture out till later tea time but when came back evening guest was then arriving . Even though was asked to use wedding venue and directed to it , still kept coming in and blocking up the bar. In which early on the bar run out at the pumps and on some bottle drinks and was really limited to what was available. I was even charged thee different prices for the same round of drinks. Good size room but complained to reception at the end of our corridor there was a kind of generator noise all night which was too loud and made it very warm. Was unable to open a small window very wide. No air. Breakfast in the morning had been pre cooked and later warmed up when your order was taken. Too dry.

"Fab"
JoBaconMum2Many, 24 Juin 2017

Brilliant value for money. Charming sitting room that's in the original part of the building. Friendly staff, a good breakfast and a decent bedroom. We didn't eat in the restaurant so can't advise on this however I can recommend the British oak for food that's 5 minutes away if you fancy dining away from the hotel. Recommend a stay here.

"Nice hotel."
Q-the-Review, 22 Juin 2017

Stayed at this hotel before so decided to stay again whilst on business in the area. Plenty of parking at the side of the hotel. Nice little reception area. Check in was easy enough and I was upgraded to an executive room which was a nice surprise. Benefit of being a BW reward member maybe. The room was nice enough, fairly large. Bit of a faint musty damp smell, bit like damp dog but not too unpleasant. Bathroom was large and clean. The bed was a bit too soft for my preference but the pillows were comfy. Food in the restaurant was tasty enough and there was plenty of choice on the menu. Breakfast is a mix of self service Continental and cooked to order hot food. Free internet is always a good thing. Will stay again if in the area and would recommend.

"Imaginative design linking modern and old architecture"
WebeCruisin, 19 Juin 2017

The old Hall is principally used for the restaurant and some function rooms. The guest rooms are in a modern block to the rear of the property, linked by a very modern, glass bar area. This means that they are very quiet with little or no road noise. Our room was below the level of the road which meant we couldn't get Wi-Fi without going outside or to the bar. Plentiful car parking was also at the rear of the hotel, with a small car park at the front for visitors. Menu in restaurant was pretty good, although I was forced to send back the cod and chips as the fish was not cooked through. The staff brought me a fresh dish in due course, with and apology and without any fuss. Hot breakfasts were cooked to order and very nice, while there was a good selection of cold cereals etc and you could make your own toast.

"very soft beds - unfortunately"
Adam Y, 12 Juin 2017

overall not a bad hotel - with decent food and breakfast, however the beds are miles too soft and leave my back in tatters, and therefore no longer a viable midweek option. If you dont mind a soft bed, then its a decent hotel at the east side of sheffield

"Beautiful grounds, uncomfortable stay"
Dee N, 08 Juin 2017

When we arrived in Mosborough Hall, we were impressed by its appearance and grounds. We were a group of 4 staying in 2 rooms for 2 nights (06-08 June) and we were given rooms 001 and 003. My sister-in-law and niece were given 001 and my husband and I took 003. The rooms and bathrooms were of a good enough size but the beds were absolutely awful - they were so soft that all of us had hardly any sleep for 2 nights. My husband slept a little when he managed to lie at the edge of the bed where it was firmest, but he kept rolling into the centre and being much smaller than he, I kept rolling into him. I could not get comfortable at night and ended up with both a stiff neck and lower back pain by the time we left. The exhaust fan in the bathroom did not work. As it turned out, 001 was even worse. Apart from the same marshmallow bed and non-functioning exhaust fan in the bathroom, the only light that worked in the room was the floor lamp. The window pane was visibly cracked and the window was locked shut, so the room was like a steam bath after showers were taken. We reported this to the front desk on the morning of the 7th June and we were assured these would be sorted when we returned that evening. However, when we returned, nothing had been done about 001 and our poor relatives (who had booked and paid for both rooms) had to suffer another sleepless night. We were quite annoyed on their behalf as this was their treat. By the time we checked out on the 8th, they were exhausted from heat and sleep deprivation caused by the problems in 001. We hope the hotel does something about this room so new guests are not subjected to the untenable amount of discomfort suffered by our relatives. We understood that because the 2 rooms had windows that open directly into the back car park, that the window might have been locked for security reasons. However, I do not think this would be compliant with health and safety requirements and this problem should have been dealt with as soon as it was flagged up. The food left just as much to be desired. On our first night, we opted to have a bar meal. 3 people ordered the sausages and mash, which they said was reasonably good. I ordered the fried calamari as a main course. When my food arrived, it consisted of about 8 pieces of fried calamari served on a splattering of some kind of sauce...and that was it. I asked if this came with perhaps a salad or some chips and I was told all I was getting for the price of the main course was the calamari. I asked for some salad as no reputable restaurant would claim that 8 pieces of calamari on a plate constitutes a main. I was served a small bowl of salad AND charged extra for it. My sister-in-law ordered coffee after the meal. She enjoys a good coffee and she commented that what she was served tasted like instant coffee. On the second night, we ate in the restaurant. My sister-in-law had lamb chops and her daughter had a burger, which they both enjoyed. My husband had a salad with grilled chicken which was unremarkable and I ordered poached chicken with piperade and chorizo chunks. The chorizo chunks and piperade were fine, but what was supposed to be poached chicken was so dry that it had the texture of a bundle of threads. I ate it only because I was very hungry and too tired to complain. It tasted dreadful. For me, the only upside of my evening meal was the serving of fruit salad that the kind waitresses kindly rustled up on request, even if it was not on the menu. The quality of the breakfasts on both mornings was variable. On the first morning, 3 people had a full English breakfast and I had smoked salmon and scrambled egg on a bun and we were all happy with our food. On the second morning, we all had a full English breakfast. The bacon on one of the plates was not fully cooked and the black pudding on all of the plates was overcooked and one of the pieces was burnt and crunchy. My husband and sister-in-law asked for poached eggs which turned out to be poached to the point of being hard-boiled and crumbly-yolked. The Danish pastries were overbaked and dark brown. Upon check-out, we gave all of the above feedback to the lady at reception and we were grateful for her generous response and the fact that the manager authorised this response. In spite of their kindness, however, I do not foresee myself returning to this hotel at any time in the future and my family and I would not recommend this hotel to anybody who is accustomed to good food or to anybody who requires a firm bed.

"not as good as expected"
Mike W, 04 Juin 2017

Stayed at the Best Western at Mosborough Hall as we were visiting my for a family birthday celebration, on arrival receptionist was pleasent and helpful, as we approached our room noticed it seem a little darker at this end of the corridor, lights were out we assumed it was it was afternoon but they never came on, the room was ok, nothing spectacular, batroom shower screen was all rusty at the bottom, and the bathroom door was also rotting at tye bottom, bed was really soft, too soft when laying down as you fellt liie you were sleeping on a downard slope, not great. When we returned after our evening out, decided to have a night cap in the bar, Luke you were great, pleasent, polite and helpful, unlike your colleagues at breakfast, who were rally miserable , not a smile amongst them, you felt like you were troubling them by being there, we thought we hsd stepped in to the middle of an argument where no one was talking to each other, it wasnt because it was busy either. We would probably look elswhere. Next time

"Best hotel in the area."
User, 30 Mai 2017

I've just returned from a two night stay over a bank holiday weekend. Good and Bad bits. Bad. (Nothing serious so let's get it out of the way first ). The rooms could do with air-conditioning. It was unusually hot on the first night and an open window only does so much. When I called reception, they delivered a fan within minutes so this is only a minor gripe. Being a bank holiday, I gather it was difficult to get fresh supplies for the kitchens. I was working in my room so called for a room service meal. Reception called back a few minutes later to say that my choice of dinner was no longer available and gave me a list of other items now also off the menu. So, I chose something else. 10 minutes later I was called again by a very embarrassed girl on reception to say that my second choice wasn't available after all either. My third choice was, and it was certainly worth the wait. Mistakes happen, which I understand. I've probably made a few myself.... not that I'd admit it. It was frustrating, but the hotel staff did deal with the problem well once they realised their mistake. The hotel didn't charge me for the meal, so again.... it's not a serious issue as the dinner I did eat was excellent. Good. The staff. The staff I meet were excellent. Nothing was too much trouble. They seemed to understand that the key to good service is not saying 'no' to a customer. They either dealt with requests straight away or they offered alternatives. That in my book is the best thing you can hope for in a hotel. I've stayed in so many and I understand that things go wrong, suppliers let them down or staff have a bad day. The staff at Mosborough Hall were all excellent. Things did go wrong... but they dealt with them well. Breakfast I always like to see a choice of fruit juices in the morning. It invariably tells me that the food will be good. Hotels which only offer orange juice are looking at every single cost and putting it above customer satisfaction. One juice type tells me that they'll probably be using cheaper quality ingredients for the cooked breakfast. A hotel a mile or two down the road only offered orange juice. When the cooked breakfast arrived, their hash browns were obviously heated from a packet. The breakfast here showed every sign of being good quality ingredients and it was very nicely cooked. The room. It was a decent size. Not huge, but large enough. There were also two chairs. So many double rooms now only seem to have one chair. Probably to make the room look bigger and save money. The decor looked relatively fresh and the bathroom was spotless and a good size. My pet hate is a cramped, dirty hotel bathroom. Especially the ones where the toilet roll holder is coming away from the wall or the shower head has had to be screwed in place to stop it falling down. The bed was far too soft for my liking but it was comfortable enough. Overall, I liked this hotel and will return. It is clean, well presented and the staff were excellent.

"Lovely Anniversary Night Away"
RB311082, 30 Mai 2017

We returned to Mosborough Hall for the first time since getting married there four years ago to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We stayed in an executive room, which was a really good size. Our room (214) overlooked the car park and the back of the Chatsworth Suite and I think was located near a generator of some sort as there was a low consistent hum that could be heard (not that this was an issue for us as it nicely drowned our any other potential noise, but could be an issue for others). The room was very clean and had nice amenities in the bathroom and complimentary water in the bedroom. The only slight criticism was that whilst the shower was lovely and hot, the water pressure wasn't very good so washing long hair may be problematic. I can see what others have said about the mattress being quite soft, but for a one night stay this wasn't an issue. We had the chance to appreciate the hotel a bit more this time and found the bar area to be lovely and enjoyed a couple of drinks in the sunshine. Breakfast was also really good with quality produce being served. It was nice to see other weddings going on during our stay as it brought back nice memories, although it should be noted that they don't really seem to impact on the rest of the hotel as the Chatsworth Suite has its own outside area and bar, and we didn't hear any noise from our room during the evening, even with the windows open. Overall, a lovely hotel and enjoyable stay, we will hopefully return again in the future.

"Fabulous food"
Rpcooper, 27 Mai 2017

Visited for an evening and was not disappointed. The food was fabulous and the staff were very attentive. Beautiful setting and a good choice of food. Lovely room Off the main bar where we could have a quiet drink. Will definitely visit again

"great family afternoon tea"
Paul B, 26 Mai 2017

Three generations enjoyed an afternoon tea on a private table in the modern bar. Food service and prosecco was enjoyed by everyone. We were not rushed and this was a special occasion with 2 birthday girls ( ages 1 and 62 ) . A great afternoon, thank you

"A little disapointed"
Gary M, 25 Mai 2017

After recently staying in a hotel close by The Aston Hall Hotel I stayed here out of curiosity, Unfortunately in my opinion it was not as good, standard rooms a lot smaller, older decor and the beds much smaller , the bathrooms were not a patch on Aston Hall.and less comfortable. The one thing that was better was the bar area (Aston hall could learn from this) more modern and good seating choices to spend an hour or two relaxing with a drink. But unfortunately what did let it down was its cleanliness, i had a drink went out for dinner and when i returned the outside tables still had not been cleared and there was full ash trays and cigarette butts and dirty table tops. The bar had max 8 people in it at one time. When i had breakfast (it was ok ) I felt i was in the way of the staff because they were changing tables over from breakfast to lunch, they were noisy and did not even notice people were trying to have a relaxing breakfast, it was 9 am. I went to sit outside but the tables were still dirty with exactly the same Butts left on the table from the night before. Nice hotel but given the choice Aston hall better in almost every way and if you need good travel access its also a better location, Mosborough Hall is a faff to get to.

"Great weekend"
David H, 22 Mai 2017

Staff were amazing from checking in to checking out. Waiters and waitresses so professional and friendly. Our room was clean and spacious.Plenty of hot water for showers and added touches like toiletries and lovely big fluffy bath towels. Breakfast time was great, lots of fruit, cereals, pastries and cooked to order full english etc, available. Dinner menu adequate for 2/3 nights all we ate was enjoyable . Would have been nice to have had a curry/chilli choice.

"Comfortable stay"
Inths, 20 Mai 2017

Stayed for a single night in an executive room. Large room, clean and tidy with a decent bathroom with shower over bath. Good selection for breakfast both continental and full english. Overall a comfortable stay at an extremely good price.

"Should do better"
aporter445, 19 Mai 2017

Not the first time I've stayed (previously was an acceptable stay) but this time they missed the basics. Upon checkin, the room had not been serviced from previous occupant, which is not the best start. To their credit I was upgraded to one of their best rooms. However in the morning I found that the shower would not work other than a trickle of cold water. Basics in room features should be cleanliness and working plumbing which on this instance fell short of the mark. All in all Mosborough Hall is not a bad hotel but it should really improve these kind of things

"Overnight stay"
MartynNmaggie, 18 Mai 2017

We only stayed one night with our 4yr old granddaughter but were very impressed with the room, food, staff, service & location. We had an evening meal, (they have a childrens menu) & also breakfast & were not disappointed with either.

"Lovely venue "
Mateyboy75, 17 Mai 2017

Stayed here for a couple of nights as we were at a horrorcon event in Sheffield. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was clean. Bed was a little soft for my liking but got a good nights sleep anyway. There was a wedding while we were there which was lovely. We ate one night in the restaurant and the food was great. Breakfast very good also. Can recommend!

"Wedding menu tasting "
inurhonour, 14 Mai 2017

Went to test out the wedding breakfast menu and we couldn't be more happier to be getting married in the perfect location, the food is amazing and all the staff always go above and beyond to help out whenever we visit. Andrew and jodie are both assets to the company and to mosbourough, they always make us feel welcome and cannot do enough to make us feel welcome into there work place home. Will always want to to go back whenever we get the chance.

"Over night stay"
Alec B, 14 Mai 2017

We arrived for an overnight stay on the 6th May 2017. The welcome at the reception was very good, the receptionist was quick and efficient, the room ready for us. We went to our room which was clean and tidy, all facilities were as advised from our booking form. The receptionist, booked dine for us at a convenient time. We got ready for diner and had a drink in the bar, and then went into the restaurant. The service was excellent as was the food. The next morning breakfast was served in the restaurant and again was excellent. This is a very nice hotel steeped with history, with nicely maintained gardens. It was well positioned for my business needs the next day. I would certainly use the hotel again for either business or a holiday visit to the area. Hotel chosen through Tripadvisor.

"Small things leave a lasting impression."
Peter D, 05 Mai 2017

The location of the hotel is good. We stayed for two nights. The evening meal was a bit of a disaster! We ordered macaroni cheese and it was served very dry where's the sauce or cheese? We complained and taken back to kitchen . Served again and no difference so complained again. Taken away and said that we will not be charged. Fair enough but it left us very disappointed.we did not use the restaurant next night. The bedrooms were average. We found the matteres very soft. Surely you need a little strength so you don't feet like sinking in the bed

"Best night's sleep for ages in a good hotel."
126Richard, 01 Mai 2017

We only stayed one night as we were guests at a wedding in the area. The staff were friendly and helpful at all times. Our standard room and bathroom was very spacious and furnished with dressing table and two easy chairs. The bed was one of the most comfortable we have slept on. The room was exceptionally clean. Breakfast was very good with a wide choice available. Service was prompt and helpful. Hotel decor is a most tasteful mix between the historic old building and some new additions. We wished we could have spent more time there.

"night stay"
Lindsay A, 24 Avril 2017

Nice hotel but not quite upto the high standards of other best western hotels we've stayed at .mount pleasant at Bawtry definitely spoils you. The hotel and surrounds were nice but the rooms and corridors decor and amenities definitely need upgrading.

"NICE HOTEL"
anthony2016111, 20 Avril 2017

I do like this hotel, staff are very friendly, my room was very nice and clean, one thing is the bed is way to soft, I suffer with a bad back, I did phone and say have you got a room with a firm mattress, was told no they are all soft, so yet again, I am up and down all night, It would not hurt to keep some in the store room for people like me, I did try room service, food came very quick, the burger was very nice, but the nachos starter was not worth 6.50 pounds, they was no fresh.

"Good hotel"
ElizaChar, 19 Avril 2017

Stayed here a few times, some of the rooms are a little run down and need a bit of TLC. But some of the rooms have already been done and those rooms are lovely. Nice bar area as well. Friendly receptionists.

"Nice place but I struggle to recommend"
HeadAcheOnASunday, 15 Avril 2017

Main building is lovely, staff are great, and the restaurant food is excellent quality which I would very highly recommend. But I'm a grumpy old man so will whinge about the ultra soft mattresses which combined with the noise from other guests (the walls/ceilings are ultra thin) meant I had three pretty much sleepless nights. If you like soft mattresses and noise doesn't disturb your sleep then this place is great value for money.

"Vert comfortable hotel"
BernardBury, 11 Avril 2017

Very pleasant stay. Nice comfortable room with a decent view of the hills. Really enjoyed the food and to good standard and reasonably priced. We had the three course meal deal which was great and again very reasonably priced. The staff we're excellent and nothing was too much trouble. We would definitely stay here again.

"Overnight stay "
cleach1867, 10 Avril 2017

Surprised that it's only 3star,taking into account there are no spaces facilities I can understand that some may seem that as the Hotel is lacking somewhat but from our perspective it is a charming hotel tucked out of the way of the hustle and bustle of tge city centre of Sheffield and nearby Chesterfield field but within easy reach of both. The team system to Sheffield is a 3 minute's drive or even a taxi ride won't break the bank if you plan to shop till you drop. Clean rooms comfy bed and breakfast included it came at a bargain price as well through booking. com. The bar area is lovely with a boutique feel to it light and airy and sofa's to sit on. Lots of secure car parking spaces as well do you won't be worried about it overnight. To be fair it's tucked away from the city but easy to get there If you fancy something different than the run of the mill travel Inn or premier Inn stays, nothing wrong with either but it's a bit more homely.

"Good overnight stay"
Macbad, 03 Avril 2017

We stayed for one night at Mosborough Hall on a family trip. We had two rooms, one for the kids and one for us and the dog. The kids room was very nice and seemed to have been recently decorated. Our room was fine but the decoration was a bit worn - this was understandable though as this was a dog friendly room. The dog friendliness really only extended to accepting dogs (no water bowl or anything) but we didn't mind as we had our own. We ate in the Brasserie and had a nice evening although the food was a bit overcooked. Staff were all friendly and all in all for the price this was very good.

"Comfy stay in friendly hotel."
GTSSurrey, 01 Avril 2017

We spent a night here on a recent trip to Sheffield and found the hotel to be friendly. Our executive room was large and pleasant (if a little bland) with a big comfy bed and a bathroom that was clean and provided with large fluffy towels and nice toiletries. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful during our short stay. Breakfast was very good indeed and used local produce wherever possible I believe. On top of all this the price was very good too. We will certainly stay there again when we are in the area.

"Mother's Day 2017"
LizLawman, 27 Mars 2017

I booked a table for eight people on 8 Feb through 'Go-Dine and received confirmation. I then received a reminder on 25 March from 'go-dine'. We were celebrating my mother's 90th birthday but when we arrived at the hotel - no booking had been made so no table available for us. Disaster. Then the lovely staff in Darcy's turned this around for us. They sorted a table and lit candles. Gave us a complimentary drink (even though it wasn't their mistake) and even gave my mum a glass of champagne!! The staff, especially Andrew, could not have been more helpful and pleasant. It was a lovely experience and the food was excellent. Going back for afternoon tea soon!.

"Sunday night treat"
lmc41, 27 Novembre 2016

Stayed at the Mosborough hall hotel with hubby for a pre xmas treat and some walking and nice food. Staff lovely. Grounds and hotel gorgeous. Lounge bar very nice. Unfortunately, never slept a wink due to paper thin walls and persistent snorring from a man next door! Bed was not comfortable either.

"Mosborough hall hotel. "
Kirk B, 26 Novembre 2016

Myself and my wife have travelled to Mosborough to visit some friends that are over here from Rhodes. We picked the hotel partly due to how close it is to where our friends are staying. The staff are extremely friendly and the rooms are warm and comfortable. The views around the hall are amazing. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend Mosborough Hall hotel to anyone.

"Certainly value for money ...."

This was our second visit ,the hotel was very quite being a Monday night , we were upgraded to an executive suite , The room was very big and modern , not luxurious ,but everything worked fine and was clean , The bed was a kingsize and comfortable , We had dinner in the restaurant which was nice , great choice , and reasonably priced, certainly not Michelin star but more than adequate for a night ,we had a drink in the lounge area behind the bar ,which was also nice and quite and relaxing , we stayed here whilst visiting my daughter at the local university , I suspect it gets busy at weekends and by the look of the confetti on the floor around the entrance it gets used for a lot of weddings , If your looking for a nice , but cheap hotel ( we only paid £62 ) then I'd recommend staying here , it easily beats the premiere inn , if however your looking for a luxury retreat with all the trimmings as the main building suggests from its look and grounds that it lies in ,then you may be slightly underwhelmed ,

"My Daughters wedding reception"
carole m, 17 Novembre 2016

A big thank you to all the staff at Mosborough Hall who worked so hard to make sure my daughters wedding reception was a fantastic event and a day to remember, Also thank you to Andrew who ensured the family meal we had on the Saturday evening was a thoroughly enjoyable time. Everyone worked very hard and were always polite and nothing was too much trouble Regards Carole Mitchell

"Excellent stay"
Steve N, 16 Novembre 2016

Overnight at this excellent BW Hotel. Took in Sunday lunch as well. Staff were very attentive despite the fact they were busy with a wedding in the Hotel. Food excellent. Room large clean and airy with large TV. Breakfast excellent. Nothing to fault would go again anytime

"Family gathering"
golfnut100, 15 Novembre 2016

Room: John Darcy suite was very atmospheric. You could imagine a headless horseman rattling his chains at the dead of night! Two issues: The bed was small and hard and the room very hot. The access staircase is very steep so this suite and adjoining rooms probably unsuitable for elderly or disabled guests. Restaurant: food very good and excellent service from the young team. Again all the public areas were too hot. Bar: OK but very noisy due to building structure. Poor choice of beer if you are a cask fan (none available).

"A' Red Letter' gift"
linda b, 13 Novembre 2016

This experience unfortunately was rather disappointing to say the least. We received a lovely red envelope detailing what we would receive for our afternoon tea for two with a glass of champagne each, hmmm very nice! We had the choice of two dining rooms to enjoy our tea. The first room had work people eating lunch so I asked to go into the other room to be told ..no. I objected but then another lady came and said we may choose the other room although it was empty and cold. Our tea came. Nothing special, finger sandwiches, four tiny bits of cake, two over warmed scones and sadly two small cream filled miniature containers with a cherry in it. A very disappointing tea not at all to the standard we were led expect with the lovely envelope we receive. Not a place to go to for a special occasion I'm afraid

"Beautiful"
Jonathan W, 07 Novembre 2016

Fantastic place to stay, lovely area and very friendly staff. the room was very clean and comfortable. A great place to stay. Only wish I could have stayed longer. The building and grounds are beautiful and looks like a great place for a wedding

"Nice few days away. "
Heather M, 03 Novembre 2016

Firstly the hotel is beautiful. Totally full of character. Didn't expect to find it on "high street" looks like it's in middle of country side. Rooms were clean and spacious. Breakfast was great. Girls serving were lovely and attentive. My biggest issue was the room key card. Kept having to go and get it redone as it would stop working despite me keeping it away from phone. If ever in Sheffield again I would definitely visit this hotel.

"Great "Best Western Hotel ""
GI45, 31 Octobre 2016

From arrival to leaving it was faultless. Very friendly staff throughout, nothing was to much trouble. Good clean accommodation with everything you could wish for. The evening bar snacks were fresh and tasteful and the breakfast was well presented and hot. I would highly recommend this hotel.

"Great Hotel complimented by Great Staff"
TonyMahoney, 27 Octobre 2016

Having recently stayed at the hotel for two nights I was extremely impressed with the staff and cleanliness of the hotel. We had a family room which was very spacious and clean and nothing was too much for any of the staff. We attended a wedding on Saturday and the way this was executed was top class and the room and bar area was excellent. The food and drink was priced in line with what you would expect to pay in a hotel and the food quality was very good. Overall a great stay and would recommend to anyone looking at staying here, we will not hesitate to stop here in the future.

"One of the Best, Best Westerns"
Scott M, 27 Octobre 2016

A wonderful hotel with real character. A lovely place to stay. Nice, Helpful Staff and good quality rooms. The kids liked the separate sleeping area for them and the main bedroom was spacious with a hugh bed. The Breakfast was good with a nice selection set out buffet style and freshly cooked to your liking. It was only the coffee I didn't like but this was soon replaced by the staff upon request with a Cappuccino from the Bar. I use Best westerns a lot and this is a good one!

"A great stay!"
benboyd, 25 Octobre 2016

Booked Mosborough Hall Hotel for a two night stay for five of us - our son & two of his friends over from Australia. We loved it! A great setting, lovely rooms and a great location. We couldn't have been made more welcome by the friendly helpful staff there. There was a wedding taking place while we were there, but that was in a separate building and although our bedroom overlooked the car park, there was no noise from the wedding celebrations or from cars leaving. It was quiet and peaceful. On our first night we had dinner in the restaurant - lovely meal, beautifully cooked and presented. Breakfast was excellent, great choice. Andrew, our waiter was so pleasant and helpful - nothing was too much trouble.. In fact, all the staff was so helpful and pleasant. Will definitely stay there again if we are in the area!

"Always stay here during UK business tours around Chesterfield/Sheffield area"
dorisv407, 21 Octobre 2016

I have been to this hotel for several times and never been led down. For my many UK Business tours I look for well run hotels with a special touch, preferably in old UK buildings / halls, large enough parking lots, late check in service, clean rooms and overall cleanliness, good wifi, a pint of real ale, good and fast served bar meals, and last not least good beds for a decent night's rest. Next day needs to start with a good breakfast for a long day on the road & at customers. This all is the case with Mosborough hall. I always look forward to stay here. Highly recommend!

"AN UNEXPECTED STAY"
224Karen, 18 Octobre 2016

An unexpected stay was booked for me on Friday 14 October. Even though I was visiting family I felt as though I was on holiday!! I was greeted with a very warm welcome and left with an equally warm welcome. Alex and Tia on Reception were happy, polite and informative of hotel information. The room was very clean and aired... it was one of those moments where you want to fall backwards on the bed haha. I had continental breakfast and was served by a lovely lady whose name I did not get. I would highly recommend the hotel and think I have now got the bug to stay there when I visit family up North again.

"poor sleep/lack of noise insulation"
Iain N, 17 Octobre 2016

There is only one thing which lets this hotel down which is the lack of noise insulation between rooms. I could not sleep a wink on the last two nights of 5. Overall the hotel is lovely and well presented. Rooms are of a good size also. Breakfast is perfect with good quality. The food on evenings is average at best

"Our Wedding Day"
Victoria A, 13 Octobre 2016

Victoria & Roberts Big Day Where do I start.....the venue is outstanding. The warm and welcoming staff made the whole day so smooth and comfortable for ourselves and my family. Jodie, Lucy and Pat were great during the planning of everything and made the rooms up beautifully. The chef did an exceptional job with the food. All of my friends and family were catered for during our stay and everyone was more than helpful. The Dj was fab he had everyone up dancing all night. Leon pashley was out of this world with his acoustic performance at the day reception I loved every minute and would recommend him to everyone . Skye thankyou so much for your huge efforts on the day to keep everything in order your an asset to mosborough hall you truely are. Our day was perfect from start to finish I cant express our thanks enough From Mr & Mrs Gale X

"Good value B & B option"
Alphaone, 09 Octobre 2016

Peak District local B & B's not up to much so opted for the Mosborough Hall and what a good choice. Great room and great food. You can imagine Mary Boleyn living here and being visited by Henry VIII !

"Woods Wedding"
Sarah W, 06 Octobre 2016

Well what can I say! My husband and I got married here at the weekend and it was absolutely outstanding. A massive thank you to Lucy, Pat and Jodie for the wedding Planning/coordination. The staff were great on the day...and I have to say that Skye was absolutely amazing you truly are worth your weight in gold. Even my guests commented how amazing you were. You took my vision of my wedding and made it a reality! The room looked amazing and was beyond what I could have imagined. To top it off Marcus from Any Event Disco and Lighting was also a complete and utter star! If there is a future prospective bride reading this review...get the lights!! They look insanely good...and his dj-ing was also spot on. The food was beautiful, I don't think I have ever tasted chicken so good! Literally was the best day of my life and I cannot thank you guys enough. Xxx ???? ???? love the Woods xxx

"Delightful Hotel"
Carmel09, 02 Octobre 2016

Spent two nights here during the week. Very nice hotel with very comfortable rooms and friendly helpful staff. Restaurant is very good with a wide ranging menu. The only downside was that the room was down a steep flight of stairs with no lift to get your case back up.

"Following the Cavendish Family's history"
Jennifer F, 01 Octobre 2016

The hotel was let down by the quality of food we received. The staff were helpful and considerate especially as I have a disability and the room was good. A good base for visiting lots of historical places of interest. We enjoyed our holiday.

"Simply the best"
scottydog1508, 28 Septembre 2016

Great location. Superb service. Rooms are outstanding. Food out of this world. We couldn't fault 1 thing. Highly recommended. This place is worth every penny. We will return asap. Just wish we could have stayed longer.

"Perfect"
Louise S, 28 Septembre 2016

From the moment we pulled into the drive and saw the beautiful grounds we knew we'd made a good choice. Check in was fast and friendly. We were shown to our room and discovered that we'd been upgraded to a suite!! Bonus!! It was a lovely, big room with a massive bed and a free standing bath. Complimentary soft drinks, a gorgeous bathroom, bath robes, slippers....... Dinner is served in the tastefully designed restaurant where we enjoyed homemade soufflé, succulent ribeye steak and mouth watering creme brûlée. The atmosphere was good and the waiting staff very friendly and accommodating. The bed was super soft and comfy. Breakfast was as good as dinner with a "help yourself " continental section and hot selections cooked to order. We sat outside with a drink and watched the squirrels running around the grounds. Check out was friendly and efficient. We can't wait to return.

"Overnight stay"
FH050, 28 Septembre 2016

We stayed here on our way to the University. The hotel rooms were comfortable and the bathrooms clean. The dinner was good but on the expensive side and breakfast was good. Overall, I'd recommend this as a good base near Sheffield.

"Fizz friday deal "
JMANSFIELD_11, 26 Septembre 2016

At first i booked this hotel on booking.com as we was going to a concert in sheffield and i have stayed her many years ago. But then i saw the fizz friday deal on their website included room, 3 course dinner, breakfast and a bottle of prosecco for £99 a room. So cancelled and had to rebook was a bit of a pain but worth it for the save. The hotel is easy to find off the M1. We booked 2 twin rooms one had a wet room which was great as we took my nan. I had a basement room was ok but a bit dark. Food was good worth the money. Staff was great helping us book a taxi and making sure we could leave for 7.30pm for the concert as we ate at 6pm. Would return as good value.

"excellent visit"
Jim H, 25 Septembre 2016

The first time I have stayed at this hotel and I would recommend it to anybody visiting the area. The staff are extremely courteous and helpful and nothing is too much trouble. After visiting another Great Western in this area and having an awful experience in the stay it has renewed my faith in the Great Western brand

"Comfortable Stay"
Philylar, 22 Septembre 2016

Ive stayed at a few Best Western Hotels and its fair to say that I have never had and serious issues and generally know what to expect. The Marlboroigh Hall was no different. The rooms are clean and modern and provide ample space. Food is plentiful and affordable and the staff are pleasant and helpful. On the whole it was a pleasant stay and I would certainly use the hotel again.

"Hotel & Food good but staff not great."
Pashleywaketeam, 21 Septembre 2016

The Hotel and location is very nice with plenty of car parking . It offers lovely food but the staff are under trained even for a 3* . Drinks in both bars are full hotel priced drinks with a good selection available . The rooms are a good 3* + and beds are comfortable . ( Door to our room require adjustment as they don't fit and have to be slammed shut ). Breakfast time offers both Continental and English both good quality and great selection . A good 3* Hotel .

"Good Location, 10 mins from Jn31 M1 with food available until 9.30pm"
Neil P, 20 Septembre 2016

The hotel is a mix of the old and new with a stunning old hall where breakfast is served, a cool glass fronted bar area and some rooms that have been tastefully refurbished. Yes finding the hotel with sat nav can be a bit tricky (take a print out map and drive to the back car park). I also liked the fact I walked in there at 9.15pm and food was still being served (until 9.30pm)

"Comfortable hotel set is scenic gardens"
Johnwpf, 18 Septembre 2016

We only stayed one night but it's a good hotel and I'd be happy to return. The gardens have specimen trees and the hotel had a historic feel. The old hall is well adapted to the hotel. The rooms are larger than many in the price range. I've reviewed the restaurant separately. Breakfast was a choice of English, continental or both.

"Beautiful grounds and excellent service"
Debbie G, 13 Septembre 2016

Set in a village on the outskirts of Sheffield this lovely hotel ticks all the boxes. The super king size bed was comfortable even though I had chronic back pain and the ambience was relaxing. We also had an excellent breakfast.

"3 rooms booked for a wedding"
Lisa P, 13 Septembre 2016

I booked 1 room for 2 nights and 2 more rooms for 1 night each at a total cost of £345. 2 of the rooms were fine ( 006 and 007 ) but the 3rd room (008) is right underneath the most creeky stairs lve ever heard so absolutely no sleep was had in this room whatsoever. I did make the receptionist aware upon checkout who said " we will make a note of it" and l have since emailed Best Westerns customer services TWICE and had no response whatsoever. Custer service skills leave a hell of alot to be desired, and after spending a total of £500 at this hotel over 2 days l really expected better..... Its worth mentioning that l paid £75 for my 1st room on Booking.Com as apposed to the £90 per room "special wedding rate" booking directly through the hotel. So the rates not so special after all. Had my complaint been dealt with l would have returned to the hotel for an upcoming special celebration and requested not to have room 008 but because lve been totally ignored we shall go elsewhere... Note to management: make sure your silver service staff have been taught how to pour Champagne as the young man attending to our table clearly had not judging by the amount spilled and told us he had never been shown how to pour it...

"Wedding stay"
Tina H, 08 Septembre 2016

We booked a room as we were attending a friends wedding. The venue was lovely and the food was very good. The staff were organised and everything ran smoothly. The only negative was that the drinks at the bar were very expensive. We were in room 206 which was very small and stuffy. It is a long time since I have seen a net curtain, but the window was adorned with one, which fell down when I lifted it to look outside. The carpet was old and didn't feel clean. The cleaner had not checked behind the door in the bathroom and there were hairs on the floor from the previous occupant. Their used soap had also been left on the soap dish. Yuk. Breakfast was average. Overall, great wedding venue but let down by the standard of the rooms.

"Value for money, nice setting"
blackdouglass, 03 Septembre 2016

Excellent attentive staff, friendly atmosphere, bedrooms more than adequate. Good choice at breakfast. Ate in the restaurant and food well presented. Not the cheapest but on par with local pubs offering similar quality, not pub grub. Some of the furniture a bit tired but at the price we paid I am not expecting luxury. Would stay again. Good base if you don't want to stay in Sheffield

"Good Location"
sandyw27, 01 Septembre 2016

We stayed here as it is close to the places we wished to visit. The bedroom was large, clean and comfortable but the weather was very hot. Asked in the morning if a sheet could replace the duvet, when we returned in the evening this has been done, and a fan provided!!! Every one was friendly and efficient. We ate in the dinning room twice and had REALLY good food. Over all a very pleasant stay but the piped music, in EVERY room drove us mad. Please reconsider your choice of tapes if it can't be turned off!.

"Wedding Stayover"
760JockS, 30 Août 2016

Attended my nephews wedding and prebooked the rooms. Bar prices were a bit steep but unfortunately you are a captive audience. Rooms were very nice and plenty of room, shower was nice and Breakfast was excellent. Overall a nice time was had.

"Beware room 201"
Florence1717, 29 Août 2016

Nothing wrong with this hotel unless they put you in room 201 which is too close to the reception and bar area so it is really noisy. Restaurant was pleasant and popular with the locals - it was busy even on a Wednesday evening.

"Wedding Stay"
Craig Liam R, 27 Août 2016

My sister had her wedding day here yesterday (26th August) and it was a lovely day. However, the customer service skills of the reception staff leave a lot to be desired. After requesting an early check in for the bridal suite we were swiftly told that "those rooms are the largest and so they are cleaned last, so we can't guarantee". Well, here's a novel idea... Considering a wedding costs thousands and brings in a lot of revenue for the hotel presumably I'd suggest you might think about prioritising the brides room on her special day??! Just a thought. That said, I might not have been as motivated to write this review had the staff been a little more flexible in their thinking overall. I requested bath robes for the photographer who wanted to take some getting ready shots. "Well we are running low so I'll have to check". It was as if they were doing us a favour! Our photographer did find that the bridal suite was unlocked and so decided to use it for some photos of the dress etc. It wasn't made up, but that's fine. The cleaner kindly said let me know when you're done with it and I'll come and finish it. Guess what? Yeah receptionist stormed in "who has let you in this room". Erm, well considering its her wedding day the bride wanted some nice pictures of her dress etc. I understand she may have been worried that were were using it before it was ready and clean, but there is absolutely a way of speaking to someone. We are decent people and just wanted to have a nice day. Work on your communication skills reception ladies!! At many weddings I've been to the bride is treated like royalty. Not here. Thankfully though not everyone was like this, the younger bar staff and the staff looking after the wedding ceremony and wedding reception were lovely. Interestingly at this hotel none of the staff wear name badges here so I can't call the good ones out in this review. Equally, I can't email the hotel directly and be specific about the staff for whom I'd like to provide feedback. So here is a few other interactions I'd like to mention... The inconsistent bar staff. Some would charge drinks to your room. Others, specifically the older lady with a short dark bob at the reception room bar looked at me like I was an alien when I told her I hadn't got a piece of paper confirming I'd let reception swipe a credit card on check in. That was followed by a patronising explanation of how I needed it to charge drinks. I also thought the girl working front of house at breakfast room this morning chewing gum was an interesting touch?! I work for a big company in customer service and if my team conducted themselves in this way I'd be mortified. Training needed please! Are the staff fed up and demotivated? On the positive side the food in the restaurant and reception was lovely. The guys running the pizza oven in the evening were a great bunch. Well done to all the catering staff. The rooms are ok. A little tired in places, but they did the job. There's no air conditioning so it was rather hot and stuffy. There's no fridge in the room either, but I guess that's why it's only rated a 3 star hotel. I won't bet letting the attitude of some of the staff spoil what was a really memorable day, but at the same time I needed to share my experiences because with a little more courtesy and just good old service skills this place would have been great. It's for this reason I've rated this hotel as 'poor'. This is the hospitality industry and so I'd expect everyone to be just that - hospitable. Sort it out Mosborough!!

"GREAT PLACE TO STAY"
pheonix1965, 26 Août 2016

Have stayed at this Hotel many times and have found it to be one of the best ones in the area. Staff are friendly and food is good quality. Rooms are very tidy and clean and I have always had a great nights sleep.

"WEEKEND AWAY"
Eileen A, 22 Août 2016

Fantastic didn't want to leave best one yet. Beautiful, best meal yet from other best western hotel. Lovely room and very clean. Staff excellent . Will be going again. Everything was great also had a good sleep.

"Excellent"
Ritchie C, 22 Août 2016

Stayed here a couple of times - both times were for weddings. which were carried out fantastically. The food and drink is excellent, though expensive £4 a pint of bitter [boddingtons]. The hotel and function rooms are stunning set in beautiful well maintained grounds. The rooms - Superior double - are tired and old, but very clean!! The staff were very helpful at every point during our stay making us feel very much like honoured guests however as was the case with other guests - checking out one minute after check out time incurs penalties and fines! we did not suffer this but we were cringing at the ones who did! All in all excellent hotel I shall be returning!

"Far too many dogs"
Phil L, 21 Août 2016

Staying here as never been a problem until yesterday. There appears to be a new idea to have dogs staying in rooms .I personally don't have a problem with dogs but I don't think they should stay in hotel rooms. I just feel that the rooms were not spotless and if a dog had stayed in our room and maybe slept on the bed I wouldn't like it . The other issue was the wedding. I really didn't like people being sick in front of us and the staff having to swill the sick away . There was lots of arguments at about 2 am in the morning. No consideration for other guests. And probably nothing said to them. Then this morning I was sat eating my breakfast looking out the window at the view of the nice garden area only to see dog poo being bagged up . Put me off my food . It's a shame about these 2 things .because the staff were excellent. Just need to control the weddings better .and change to a no dogs rule..

"Perfect wedding stay"
tonyhPortsmouth, 20 Août 2016

We booked a room at Mosborough Hall Hotel where a family wedding was taking place. From the time of our arrival until we departed on the following day we found the Hotel, the staff and the meals to be excellent. Good parking is provided and the breakfast suited us perfectly. I could not fault anything during our brief stay.

"Wedding & Reception held here"
Jordan H, 17 Août 2016

Well I don't know where to start. From the beginning when we booked Mosborough hall right to the end when we checked out they have been absolutely fantastic! We held our ceremony and reception here as there was a separate building from the hotel it's self and as soon as we had a look around it we knew we wanted our big day here. Pat and her wonderful team did an absolute brilliant Job of setting up the room just how we wanted it. And also just being a wonderful person to me and my wife by being helpful in everything we wanted doing to make our day perfect. The 3 course meal that we had in our wedding breakfast was spot on and was absolutely lovely. In the evening we opted to have a pizza oven and we certainly didn't regret this! It went down an absolute treat with the guests and it was so nice! The room me and my wife got in our package was the Roberts suite (although you do get a choice) and the room was absolutely lovely! Had such a brilliant nights sleep! (Although we got in at 3am!) overall just want to say a big thank you to the Mosborough Hall staff for being so helpful with everything in making our day special! We will be stopping for one night soon!

"Lovely hotel"
TracyO1972, 17 Août 2016

Had a 3 night stay with my husband and we were lucky enough to be allocated a suite for our stay . The room was stunning , with a beautiful bed , freestanding bath , arm chairs , dressing table and an en suite shower and toilet ... There were lots of free toiletries , 2 robes and slippers , a good selection of hot drinks and bottled water . We slept fairly well , although there was noise from the road on occasion . Breakfast was very good with a choice of cereals , bread , toast , fresh fruit and fruit salad, yoghurts and pastries as well as a good choice of cooked traditional breakfasts . Our room was cleaned well each day . We would definitely stay here again .

"Post wedding meal"
Charl F, 14 Août 2016

We came here on the 9th June for our close friends wedding and the day was great from start to finish. All of the staff were brilliant and I have to say Pat the wedding coordinator was fantastic. She was so friendly and such a hard worker. Everyone enjoyed the day. We returned here on Friday evening for a meal with our friends who got married here and the service was great and so was the food. It wasn't too busy and we then went into another room with sofas and could relax and have a nice drink. Great venue for a wedding or just a nice meal.

"Great Hotel & Location"
Ritu S, 11 Août 2016

Used this hotel for a business overnight stay. Beautiful location and nice and clean. Friendly staff and approachable. Room was nice and clean and amenties. Definatly recommend and use this hotel again.

"Average "
Kaley C, 10 Août 2016

On arrival the receptionist was very helpful and quickly gave us the key and explained where to go to find our room. We were on the ground floor which was very good as we had our 8 month old daughter with us. The whole room was very clean. My only negative is the the bathroom system I found was very loud. It sounded like someone was hoovering outside, I asked the In-laws the next day who also stayed in the same hotel whether they had a similar problem to which they had. I wouldn't go again as It took me a good 2/3 hours to fall asleep and usually I'm not a light sleeper.

"Very nice hotel"
Mike I, 08 Août 2016

Very nice hotel. I only ever stay there on business but would stay there for pleasure. Great setting, great rooms and very good staff. Restaurant is very good as is the breakfast options. Lots of parking as well. I can very highly recommend this hotel.

"Lovely two night stay"
Janet C, 25 Juillet 2016

Just come back from a 2 night stay...what a lovely place could not fault anything..we had two different rooms...the De luxe room which is has it says beautiful old charm room in the main hall and a executive room in the modern end of the building again a lovely more contemporary room just has good and the beds....so comfortable...everywere was spotless..all the staff were very pleasant and helpful did not eat in the restaurant but breakfast was great and plenty of choice. Would definitely stay again and looking forward to another visit.

"Fantastic value for money, food was excellent"
Sam W, 21 Juillet 2016

I recently visited Mosborough hall for a meal with my girlfriend. We was extremely happy with the value for money and the food was excellent! We have been several time and would recommend this restaurant to anybody!! We have been looking at this venue for my wedding!

"Great place to stay"
MikenMissy, 21 Juillet 2016

We stayed for three nights and were very impressed with the high standard of rooms (we were advised it was one of the better rooms), staff and the hotel in general. The breakfast and restaurant food was excellent and served by efficient and courteous staff in very pleasant surroundings.

"Lovely meal"
ajacksx, 19 Juillet 2016

Recently visited this restaurant with my parter and once again we enjoy it. Very helpful staff, excellent food and lovely atmosphere. Been to this restaurant several times with my parter/ friends and every time we've really enjoy it. Reasonably priced and will definitely be returning

"Nice day for a white wedding"
DoctorSteve19631984, 16 Juillet 2016

Got married here and the day couldn't have been better. The staff worked like a well oiled machine, everything ran smoothly and everything was taken care of so we didn't have to think about a thing. The three course meal was amazing and all the guests raved about it. Even had a great cooked breakfast the next morning. A special thanks to Pat and Jodie for looking after us on the day. If you're looking for a wedding venue this is definitely the one to go for.

"Afternoon tea birthday treat "
Matt O, 14 Juillet 2016

We were looking for somewhere different to celebrate a family members birthday. After some searching we found Mosborough Hall. Really nice venue in a great setting. We had the deluxe afternoon tea which included copious amounts of tea, sandwiches, cakes and scones. Very impressed

"nice"
jlf643, 11 Juillet 2016

went to a wedding reception here. nice surroundings in what seemed to be a converted stable block. good staff (though a few more smiles & a bit more effort wouldnt hurt!) food & drink great. seats outside were quite damaged & wet (i know it had rained on & off all day) cushions were bought out but they were too wet through and covered in footprints!

"Lovely hotel "
kelly_9315, 10 Juillet 2016

I stayed at this hotel for a short while whilst I was working in Sheffield. The hotel is in a stunning setting quite set back in the village. The rooms were a very generous size and were cleaned impeccably daily. There was no issue surrounding noise within this hotel and that accompanied with a comfy bed made it a good night sleep daily. The room service is fast but still maintains taste and offers a larger range then what is available in the restaurant My one improvement to this hotel would be to have a larger range of food within the restaurant

"Two nights stay "
Bernie S, 10 Juillet 2016

Reasonable hotel but lots of weddings and wedding guests who understandably have a drink or two and make some noise, also tend to all arrive for breakfast at same time. For the purpose of our visit all was fine but I don't think I would use the hotel again as they seem mostly interested in weddings. However breakfast was perfectly OK and staff and cleanliness of room were all perfectly acceptable Room was a little dark and small but again as a bed and bathroom did the job well, bed was comfortable bathroom clean etc etc

"Mushroom for improvement"
Wellbhoy, 08 Juillet 2016

Stayed for 3 nights in order to attend a family event in the area. The hotel is in a nice setting with a large glass fronted bar which offers a decent selection of beers and spirits. The room is typical of a 3* hotel. The breakfast was overcooked with dry hard black pudding and tasteless mushrooms. The staff, though plentiful, lacked attention to detail. When back in the area I will be staying somewhere else.

"Stopover"
freddie s, 04 Juillet 2016

Handy for the M1. Room popped up with a rate comparable to a motel. Environment nice but general area built up and busy. Room was huge and beds soft and very comfy. The carpet was very grubby and needed replacing . Bathroom had disabled facilities which was fine. I would describe the room as dated rather than contemporary .

"Tinkering on below average"
John M, 04 Juillet 2016

Reasonable price and the staff were very helpful and service in restaurant was good. Rooms could have been cleaner and in this respect the experience was below average. There was a lot of dust and hairs on the carpet. The rooms were stuffy at night and there is no aircon. Bar was a nice place for a drink and a good selection of cocktails. Cooked breakfast was very average but there was a good selection of continental.

"Quiet, cozy and friendly"
morebeernow, 01 Juillet 2016

My partner in dine and I spent a weekend here before a professional exam. The staff were lovely and very helpful. The hotel is a clever mix of original building and new extension which works very well. There was a wedding held there one evening and we barely heard it. The rooms were clean spacious and comfortable. The in house restaurant is well worth a try for supper. If we are ever back in Sheffield we will stay there again. And I passed the exam too!

"Nice"
Sean C, 29 Juin 2016

I was training in Sheffield and picked this for it's convenience to my venue. It is a fine looking hotel with well maintained ground about 8 miles from Sheffield city centre. The room was a little Premier Inn but it was to a good standard and very clean with a nice bathroom too. The bed was really soft and I slept well.. I didn't speak to any staff much but they were polite and friendly in passing. I used the park and ride about a mile away and had a pleasant ride on a tram into the town centre. Only one night but a pleasant stay.

"Lovely surroundings"
Lotte I, 23 Juin 2016

Stayed here for business so didn't spend huge amounts of time in the hotel. Everything was ok. Food fine, room good size, great surroundings and friendly staff. My only comment would be that as a single woman staying here I felt uncomfortable being on the ground floor of the hotel at the end of a very very long, dark and grim corridor.

"Mosborough hall hotel "
jase-lisa-matt1, 05 Juin 2016

Stayed twice in this hotel and the surroundings and rooms are lovely. Staff are very attentive and the breakfast was lovely. If I was going to criticise anything it would be that there was only 2 coffee sachets in the room and 4 milk portions. Also the television signal was very frustrating. Everything else about the hotel was great. We were there for a music festival, which has sadly had to move to another venue. Memories have been made at this festival and hotel and I would recommend anyone thinking about staying here.

"Anniversary disappointment"
Olka M, 02 Juin 2016

My husband had booked us a night in at the Mossborough for our 5th anniversary. We stayed at the hotel after our wedding. Apparently he had the room booked for a few months, and it was a surprise for me, at I didn't know about it until 30 min before we left for the hotel. I was very excited to go back there and was looking to forward to our test, add we can't really afford exoensice hotels like this all the time. It was a once in 5 years treat! On getting to our hotel I was very excited and the staff were eager to show us to our room. They knew how important this was for my husband, as he was planning out for a long time. Unfortunately on getting in to the room is was a big disappointment... the tin was half clean, with a half pint of drank beer left on the side, there were dirty tissues on the bathroom floor and in the toilet itself, there was rubbish on the floor and the whole room felt disgusting. My husband was really upset and disappointed and upset with the staff add they knew for a long time for how special this was for us. I cried on my wedding anniversary and wanted to go home to my own bed. I struggle to stay away from home and this was a difficult situation for me as I didn't want to upset my husband even more. But I was really saddened by the hotel service and the standards of cleanliness. And on top of that we were charged £3 to have our breakfast brought to our dirty room! With a real shame, I wouldn't want to stay there again!

"worth a visit"
DoLiv, 01 Juin 2016

well organised hotel in nice area in good position for exploring east Yorkshire and the Darbyshire peak district, friendly efficient staff, good food ,nice spacious bedrooms with good facilities, modern extensions sympathetically done to ancient historical building.. only thing missing spa facilities!

"Wedding at Mosborough Hall "
Wilberforceslady, 30 Mai 2016

Mosborough Hall is a mixture of old and new. We went to a wedding, which was in the Chatsworth suite which is separate to the main hotel. Great venue for any celebration. Service with a smile from all staff. The DJ was one of the best, the dance floor was full most of the night. Plenty of staff throughout the hotel so service was good. Our room was basic but spotless. And the bed was really comfortable. We didn't hear anything from the adjoining rooms and the curtains were black out ones. Although the wifi connection was a little hit and miss. All the food we had was good. Both at the wedding and next day at breakfast. Access was good for all, plenty of outside space for children to run around. Lovely quiet location. Ample parking. We had to ask for more milk in our room and we were surprised to be given a small jug full. Which was brilliant, we hate when you have to keep asking for cartons! Looking on line we could have booked our room cheaper if we hadn't booked direct with BW which was disappointing.

"Lovely evening meal"
rahean, 29 Mai 2016

Excellent evening meal, fantastic quality food and very helpful, personable staff. We hope to return soon. Very nice surroundings, which I imagine would make it a very good location for weddings. Very relaxin in all.

"Pre funeral"
MrsBGateshead, 28 Mai 2016

The hotel was lovely, and I chose it thinking it was a straight road up from City Road Crematorium! Unfortunately the roads were confusing at first going into Sheffield when we did a recce for the following day, but we managed after a couple of u-turns. The meal that evening was very good. However, I did not think much of the choice of food for the continental breakfast the following morning! We could never have eaten the cooked breakfast which was £5 more! In fact, my husband only ate a yogurt, but at reception I mentioned this, that he had hardly eaten anything, so they just charged for one person! which was unexpected! The location was very peaceful, and I saw several other places to go for a meal if you stay for several nights! I would definitely return.

"Disappointed having booked an executive double room for our wedding anniversary to find we had a twin bed room."
roychambers04, 24 Mai 2016

Having found it was a twin bed room went back to reception to be told it was because it had like that for the previous occupants. Unable to offer another room. Said they would get housekeeper to change it next day which they did. The room in my opinion was not an executive but a standard room based on my experience as a BW Platinum rewards holder staying at BW hotels in UK, Australia, New Zealand. Was available via Booking.com and Kavak at over £60.00 less than I paid booking through BW rewards. Also I felt that the 2 desserts ordered from the dining room menu but booked in the bar had 25% added to the price. We appreciated that at breakfast the full english was ordered and prepared in the kitchen and served hot to the table instead of the usual laid out in Bain Marie style where the food is not always that hot.

"Great Value - Top Class"
YorkTraveller1962, 21 Mai 2016

Quite simply a great hotel at a great price with a very nice room and great food and drink options...... Would stay again in a a heartbeat and recommend other to. The bar area in particular is spacious, light and relaxing and has an impressive range of beers. The bar food options were good and my choice of a Mosborough burger was particularly decent. Service with a smile and a great night's sleep in a massive bed all helped to make this a 5 star experience.

"Poor Food"
Tony R, 21 Mai 2016

Pleasant enough hotel which is let down by the standard of the service and food in the restaurant. They seem to more interestd in weddings than their hotel guests. Tere was a strange ouder in the room coming from the en-suit.

"Peace on the outskirts of Sheffield"
Kxadams, 17 Mai 2016

Excellent parking facilities. The room was well furnished and clean. The location is great and I went running to another Valley Country park in the evening! The hotel was quiet and breakfast good. I stayed for business and would definitely return as the journey both to Central Sheffield and Meadowhall were quick and easy.

"Excellent wedding venue"
Kimberley B, 09 Mai 2016

We had our wedding at Mosborough Hall Hotel on 2nd April 2016. From day one we were given our own dedicated wedding planner, Jodie Gray, who really is an asset to the hotel. Jodie is polite, professional and organised. At every step along the way we felt that Jodie understood what we wanted; she listed to us and asked relevant questions; and she was always very quick and responding to any queries we had. The wedding venue (the Chatsworth Suite) was in a separate area to the main hotel, with its own courtyard. We hired our own drapes, white aisle runner, chair covers, fairy lights and uplighters to make the ceremony room look extra special - the uplighters really enhanced the stone walls, and the fairy lights wrapped around the beams looked excellent. After our ceremony we went outside for photographs, drinks and canapés - due to the slightly cold weather our guests then gathered in the main hotel bar for drinks, which is situated in a beautiful modern glass annexe. Jodie and the rest of the team did an excellent job in setting up the main room for the wedding breakfast. I had drawn some plans of how I wanted the tables to look, and given basic instructions for what to do with the other decorations we had brought, however I was still apprehensive as to whether the room would look like I had envisaged - I need not have worried. Jodie translated my ideas into reality perfectly - I walked round the room before our guests came in and did not want to change a single thing. The room looked stunning, everything was exactly where I'd asked, and Jodie had even used her creativity to set up lovely displays of flowers in the bar area, string bunting along some of the walls, and lay out a beautiful sweet table. The food was excellent. We had smoked salmon and prawns to start, individual steak pies with mash and seasonal vegetables, and a trio of miniature desserts (chocolate brownie, lemon tart and vanilla cheesecake). The main and dessert were not options on the wedding package that we had booked, but Jodie and the chef worked with us to create our perfect wedding breakfast. We have had many compliments from guests about the quality of the food. We had pizza from the built-in outdoor Italian pizza oven for our evening food - this was great, as it was a nice change from the usual buffet/hog roast options you tend to get at weddings. The young men working at the pizza oven were lovely, and our guests were very impressed with the pizza. Another nice thing about the hotel is that there is getting ready room - my bridesmaids and I got ready in there the morning of the wedding. The room was large enough to comfortably fit myself, four bridesmaids, my mum, a hairdresser and a makeup artist. The room was available to us all day, so we didn't need to rush to move our bags after the wedding ceremony. At all times throughout the experience we were treated with respect and professionalism from all staff. I would not hesitate to recommend Mosborough Hall Hotel as a wedding venue.

"Good"
Nick W, 08 Mai 2016

Me and my partner stayed here on a Groupon voucher which included a 3 course meal. The food was really nice and the staff were attentive and friendly. They nearly forgot us though. We reserved a table when we checked in but it was somehow lost in transition between the receptionist and the restaurant. We we fitted in however so it didn't turn out to be a problem. The room was comfy and well furnished. The bed was a bit soft but otherwise we had no problems and enjoyed our stay.

"Wedding 22.05.16"
chloe_bingham, 02 Mai 2016

We had our wedding here on 22nd April and it couldn't have being a more perfect day. From our first meeting with Pat to book it til the day after the staff were so attentive, friendly and couldn't do enough for us. They made us and our guests feel at ease and nothing was too much trouble. The food was fantastic, wedding breakfast and buffet, the dj fab listened to us and played what we wanted. The place itself is beautiful and we couldn't have asked for more perfect surroundings for special day. Anyone getting married I would highly recommend this venue ??. Thanks again to all especially the wedding team, what an amazing job you all do.

"Mediocre Food"
Tusher11, 01 Mai 2016

Attended a wedding here, and was disappointed in the quality of the food served. A bland starter of Goat's Cheese was followed by lukewarm Yorkshire pudding, although the trio of sweets were very good.

"Dining at "Fort on the Moor" which came from the word Moresburgh, now Mosborough."
John S, 27 Avril 2016

The food is fit for its surroundings, freshly cooked and very tasty. Our party of five were impressed by the genuine politeness and friendliness of the staff. We look forward to returning soon and will be making Mosborough Hall a regular place for dinning with friends/family. The historic, spacious surroundings alone make for a unique dining experience. The history dates back many centuries from 100AD, but what we see and dine in today was built around 1420 and developed to meet the needs of the proceeding occupants.

"Great Wedding Location"
Craig S, 26 Avril 2016

The main hall is a lovely historic building and the newly constructed areas such as the bar really do compliment it nicely and are not out of place. Weddings are held in a separate building that's in its own private area away from the main hall but still has a rustic charm to it. The restaurant food is nice, not overly expensive at all and the staff are also friendly and easy to talk to. Overall a great place.

"Superb short break"
BrianHS, 26 Avril 2016

It is difficult to describe the short stay my wife and I had at Mosborough Hall other than in a succession of superlatives. The Hall, which has a fascinating history going back centuries, is attractive and well-maintained, a happy combination of the old and the modern. Our room had period charm, was spotlessly clean and was equipped with all that we could have asked for. Our meals in the hotel were of the highest standard, a tribute to the chef and those who work with him. A special mention must be made of the staff: they were, friendly and pro-actively helpful, while taking pride in their work and the hotel itself. Also the Hall has plentiful parking in its grounds. We certainly intend to return.

"Ok hotel near Sheffield"
Ian K, 25 Avril 2016

This is a strange mix of the good and not-so-good. The food is ok - good evening meal, amazing croissants for breakfast, but a poor fare for a wedding reception. It was a barbeque, but the burgers were not good and the corn on the cob raw and cold. The room was ok, but the walls thin enough to hear noisy neighbours in the night. Not sure I'd go back

"Sparkling service!"
derdlih, 24 Avril 2016

Just returned home from a wonderful family celebration. The setting, the catering and the whole experience was superb thanks largely to the smiling staff who did not miss a trick. What a brilliant, well-run, hotel!

"Excellent Hotel"
Stonewalker, 24 Avril 2016

We stayed here for one night to meet up with old friends who we hadn't seen for over 20 years. We have stayed here before and knew it would be a good place to meet for an evening meal. We were not disappointed. The hotel is old world and the setting is really good. The room, when we eventually found it, was of a good size and clean. The only problem was the staircase was near our room and there was what sounded like elephants running up and down. We had a complimentary drink in the bar whilst waiting for our friends. The evening meal was excellent, we all enjoyed our meals. We had booked breakfast which again was good. My husband had the cooked breakfast and I had my usual ham and cheese. The ham is really tasty and there are three pieces of cheese, plenty enough. We will be staying here again when we are over this side of Sheffield.

"nice hotel"
Martin W, 21 Avril 2016

good standards at this hotel for a basic business stay it caters for all my needs. It is a little quiet but garden areas are very picturesque. Restaurant food is a very good standard and not too pricey to be honest. I always stay at this hotel when in this area as it suits my requirements very well. would consider a leisure trip out to this hotel with my partner in the future.

"Perfect Visit "
Scott A, 19 Avril 2016

Came here on Mothers Day with my family. It is a great place, traditional style building with very nice bar area. The food was impressive.. best salmon I've had! And a very good price! My mother in law and fiance even got a free gift. I'll be back there again soon.

"Flawless."
cardinal999, 03 Avril 2016

We have just returned home after staying here for two nights to attend a friends wedding. The hotel is only 3 stars but should be 4. Reception is very small but the staff were friendly and efficient. We were given room 007 (very James Bond) which was large, very clean with a safe, TV and good tea/coffee making facilities. Water pressure for the shower is a little low, but adequate. The bed was VERY comfortable. Throughout our stay we were impressed with the staff and service received. Food is very good. The wedding went flawlessly and a good time had by all. Would definitely stay here again.

"Not great for the price"
Jodie H, 03 Avril 2016

Visited just for a night to attend local family party. Myself, my husband and our 3 children. The room cost £138 this was for 2 extra beds and a travel cot, this didn't include breakfast. Considering the price and the fact we had 2 small children we were put in a room quite a way from reception and tackling stairs with a pushchair and numerous bags it wasn't the best start. We didn't realise until half 7 the next morning when we were all woken up by the banging and clanging of the cleaners that their cupboard was right next door to our room. For the price I wouldn't stay again.

"Dining"
LF2218, 03 Avril 2016

We have now eaten here 4/5 times. The first time was immense and I'm sorry to say it's all been downhill from there. I really don't think we will be coming back which is unfortunate. From a 3 course meal for myself and partner, only 1 course was really nice. We ate it, it wasn't inedible but just not up to standard at all. Somethings changed and for the worse. Found the food to be bland, lots of crab shell in my starter. Please please go back to how it was as it used to be amazing !!

"Great venue if you like the old building feel"
johnboy198, 01 Avril 2016

Great place to stay and great staff. Also had our wedding here. Highly recommend a visit if you plan on booking a hotel in Sheffield. It has an old fashioned feel to it but also a bar area which is quite modern.

"How do you like your eggs?"
Sheila T, 20 Mars 2016

Best cooked to order breakfast ever! The poached eggs cooked to perfection. Clean and tidy room, would stay here again. Bar was lovely, friendly bar staff. Breakfast all staff very happy to serve and chef well done for top breakfast

"Nice place to stay."
Andrew K, 15 Mars 2016

Always welcoming staff. Stayed here three times and will stay again. Comfortable rooms and well appointed. A very good breakfast with an excellent choice. The Darcy suite is a pleasant room with old world charm and a very nice bathroom. The more standard rooms are just as good. I recommend a stay for business or pleasure.

"More than a three star."
Stuart C, 14 Mars 2016

This is only a three star hotel but I can tell you that I have stayed in far worse 4 star ones. The reception is only small but the receptionist is really pleasant and helpful. The room was larger than I expected with a very comfortable bed, a lovely bathroom with a powerful shower. Our room (116) overlooked the main entrance but we were not disturbance by any outside noise. The bathroom towels were really lovely and white and fluffy. Plenty of toiletries for you to use and water was piping hot. The bar and Restuarant were really freindly and informative. The hotel is a old Manor House that is steeped in history, Henry the 8th and Ann Boylene stayed there before he got her head chopped off. There is also a resident ghost but fortunately she did not appear during our stay. The evening meal was absolutely delicious and staff excellent, however the breakfast was not as good, the bacon and sausages were quite overcooked and rock hard. The poached eggs were done to perfection and the mushrooms very tasty. It certainly did not spoil our stay and we will certainly book again if another deal comes on.

"Mosborough Hall"
R W, 14 Mars 2016

Well worth a visit, lots to do in the area and it's a good base for heading out from. This hotel also allows dogs for a small fee. This puts Best Western at one of the top chains for me to stay with - but check with each hotel first as some don't allow dogs and some only have limited rooms for guests with dogs. It's also worth checking the charge as this can differ too.

"Pleasant enough environment, but avoid the curry"
MikeandFlo, 13 Mars 2016

It seemed a long time ago since our last visit. We didn't notice anything different; still having a fairly comfortable and familiar feel. There were plenty of cars around but very few diners – we saw two small groups having an afternoon tea option. We were suitably greeted at the bar. Because we had arrived towards the back end of lunchtime, we opted for a bar meal and menus were duly provided. We choose to have a curry but (because the menu oddly didn't specify) we had to verbally establish that it featured either chicken or vegetable – we opted for vegetable. To wash it down we choose Stella. The curry was very ordinary, and somewhat odd – featuring mostly largish wedges of tomato as might appear on a plate of salad. The rice was okay, and topped with a little green vegetation and pleasant tasting. The naan bread, suitably warmed, was also okay. We were never asked if things were okay, either during eating or subsequently paying – perhaps our adverse thoughts on what had been provided had been anticipated. As above, it is some time since our last visit, and it is likely to be much longer before our next.

"Afternoon tea disaster"
WillowGunn, 12 Mars 2016

After a recent visit to another place for afternoon tea, I've caught the afternoon tea bug. Being in Sheffield with my other half, we looked for somewhere closer to his house. I did a search online and mosborough hall looked posh, yet reasonably priced. So I called, asked about availability and was told to just turn up. We went straight over. Once there, we were asked for what name it was booked under. 3 different people looked perplexed when I said I was just told to come over. However, after a girl checking for space, we were taken to a table (not sure why she had to check, the room we were in was almost empty and a sneaky look on the booking list showed most names crossed out). The table was undressed, but napkins and cups were brought over and we were asked if we wanted tea or coffee. A few minutes later a pot of tea was brought out. The tea wasn't very strong, but it tasted ok. All of a sudden, the cake stand was brought to the table. To my horror, (and more my partners) the choice was shocking. We were not told of the sandwich selection beforehand (and it wasn't on the website that I could see), nor were we asked of any possible allergy issues. There were egg mayo, cream cheese and cucumber (eww) and salmon. My partner couldn't stomach any of them, and I can't stand salmon, and I only like mild cream cheese. I said to the waitress that I was allergic to fish, and was there any possibility of swapping them. She said I could swap to ham. So away it went and back out it came. My partner, as a result of this, ended up with only 4 tiny finger sandwiches, and I managed to have a couple of egg mayo and the cream cheese and cucumber was disgusting (and also a weird sandwich combination). The scone was a shop bought one (looked and tasted like the 4 for 80p asda ones) and the pitiful selection of miniature desserts on the top tier was dire - 2 tiny meringues, 2 chocolate torte squares and 2 profiteroles (when I say tiny, these things weren't even a mouthful). The meringue was sticky on the outside, so had obviously been sat out in the kitchen for a while. The chocolate torte was rich and bitter but I like that, and the profiteroles were absolutely tasteless. We asked for a top up of hot water.... a pointless act as the tea bags were done after the first half pot. All in all it was a gross waste of money at £9.95 each. For a place that looked down their noses at us (we were both in jeans and walking boots and proper coats) they need to assess their awful afternoon tea. It wasn't worth half of what we paid, and we won't be going back there.

"Little break"
Lisa P, 12 Mars 2016

We spent a lovely evening at Mosborough Hall hotel. The staff were very friendly and professional and things run smoothly. There is a relaxed atmosphere and we felt welcomed. The room was lovely and clean and had everything we needed. The mattress was a little soft for me. The food in the restaurant was great, very delicious with great produce. I recommend the belly pork and also the herb crusted lamb. Everything we ate was well presented and of good quality. The grounds are well maintained and pleasant, it's easy to get to 10 mins for the M1. I don't think that the pictures do the hotel justice as the building is full of character and is tastefully furnished. A great place for dinner or a night away.

"Value stay"
victor061, 10 Mars 2016

Rooms do need a redecoration and beds upgrading as mattresses very soft possibly through constant use. Breakfast was very good in pleasant surroundings and helpful reception staff. Hotel is in a nice location with ample free parking.

"Lovely"
Judith F, 10 Mars 2016

Just got back from staying two nights here with our friends. We were staying in the new end which was lovely and clean however the rooms do need a coat of paint and the mattress needs replacing it was fas too soft . What we paid was good value. The breakfast was excellent our friend had kipper which he throughly enjoyed we had a full English and there was plenty on the plate to fill you up all day.The dark haired receptionist was very friendly. We went out to dine for the two nights we were here to Bay of Bengal Indians delicious then to the Little Italy delicious so all in all we had a good two days. We would definitely go back to this hotel.

"pleasant place"
Martin W, 09 Mars 2016

very nice hotel situated in nice garden/grounds. Room was a little small but sufficient for my needs and bathroom area was very clean and with all accessories you would expect. Only stayed here on business but would certainly think of returning with my wife for one of our weekends away. Staff were pleasant and restaurant decor was very well done and love the music paintings on the walls. Food was nice and well presented and reasonably priced. Lounge/bar area was nice and comfortable and enjoyed a pint or 2 sitting on the sofas. Would definitely recommend this hotel for somewhere to stay but would assume that it would be busier at the weekends as they do accommodate for weddings.

"Mother's Day Breakfast Treat"
robinsondeborah, 06 Mars 2016

I took my mum here today for a Mother's Day breakfast treat - a last minute idea for being able to spend some time with her in the morning, as I was being taken out by my own children in the afternoon. It was fantastic - lovely food with excellent buffet choices and a superb English breakfast, washed down by as much tea, coffee and juice as we could drink. The staff were very attentive and friendly and the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. I think this will now become a regular treat - whether we have anything to celebrate or not! What a great start to the day - thank you.

"No sleep thanks to generators or something"
Coyney70, 05 Mars 2016

Lovely evening in function suite for a friends birthday. Party food less than impressive but in good supply. Hotel room booked was supposed to be executive. The room whilst large was fairly basic with a fairly stained carpet. Bathroom clean. However I have slept for only a short while thanks to feeling like I was on a cargo ship or near the engine of a plane. The constant drone of whatever it is has truly ruined a night and now probably Mothers Day due to lack of sleep. Havent had breakfast yet I had to write this!

"Total satisfaction, even the price."
carl t, 04 Mars 2016

Was up in Chesterfield for a function and my friend found this place online. Experience has shown that Best Western usually are the best. On arrival and throughout the staff were very attentive and helpful. A quick look around showed that it was set in a very nice location. An old building that is well looked after. The room was very comfortable with all you would expect - flat screen TV, coffee making and free Wi-Fi. A good sized bed that was very comfortable and everywhere was clean. The en-suite was spacious and the shower was good. Although we didn't have dinner at the hotel we did take breakfast which was good offering freshly cooked food rather than sat on a hot plate. All this and the best was the price, I would have paid more. Definitely my choice if I have to go that way again.

"Wedding 20th February 2016"
Stephen H, 23 Février 2016

The perfect venue for our February wedding. Pat and Jodie were fantastic and couldn't do enough for us-every little detail was thought through. The food was excellent which was commented on by many of our guests. The hotel rooms were great and catered for all of our needs.had a meal thrown in with our package and not one guest had a bad meal! Had elegance music as violinist-again couldn't fault-played our personal choices beautifully. Andy the DJ (within the mosborough wedding packages) was fantastic-the dance floor was busy all night, catered for all ages and had a good feel for what was going down well.the cd of songs played was a nice touch too. Sarah at all seated did an excellent job of dressing our venue. Thanks to all the staff at mosborough, and everyone that made our day so special!

"Nice facade, terrible everything else"
mitch6967, 10 Février 2016

I stayed here for 1 night on 9th February for business purposes. My room was dated and tired and quite dirty. The beer was expensive and flat. The biggest disappointment was the poor quality food I received in the restaurant. The prices are quite steep for the swill received. I had bread and balsamic/olive oil to start which was inedible. It got worse for the main, I ordered grilled chicken pasta, which was half a chicken breast grilled on top of penne pasta mixed with chopped tomatoes. No flavour, no taste and served warmish, some parts were cold. I tried my luck with the pudding, which stated crème brulee and on receiving this, it was luminous yellow, no crunchy grilled caramel top. obviously bought in rubbish. The chef(if you can call him that) is obviously lacking in skill, food knowledge and passion. The following mornings breakfast was just as bad. Poached eggs, that I couldn't cut as they were rock hard and on 2 brown crusts that were like cardboard. Do yourself a favour and stay away from this place. The bed was way too soft it gave me an horrendous backache and left me unable to sleep. Overpriced and atrocious experience.

"A surprise change of plans!"
Bobscutt, 10 Février 2016

Half way down the M1 en-route to Guernsey and a phone call to tell us storm Imogen has caused ferries to be cancelled.......Plan B then. Mosborough Hall Hotel was nearby and being a Best Western Plus seemed a safe bet. We were not disappointed at all. The staff were all very happy and cheerful, unlike the atrocious weather. The room was very clean and well appointed. Functions are held in another old building, not under bedrooms, so quiet nights were had. The restaurant had a good selection, which kept us going for 3 evenings without duplication. Can't say anything bad about this place, just good comments, it's not perfect, but it is good.

"3.5 rather than 4"
Paul M, 08 Février 2016

A very nice building, converted to a hotel in a contemporary style. I can't say it really works for me - the big asset is the age of the building - why not capitalise on it? Something about 'contemporary' hotels that most people might like, but I don't. Firstly - why do they love 'mood' lighting in the bedrooms, and secondly - why do they insist on playing hide & seek with the kettle? Apart from that, the room was pleasant, comfortable and spacious. Another couple of major positives: The breakfast chef is one of the few people who has mastered the art of scrambled eggs. Scrambled eggs can be merely ok, or sometimes they can be amazing. Here they are fantastic. The rest of the breakfast was adequate. Finally, the wifi was really easy to connect to, and was really fast - even in my room which was as far from the centre of the hotel as it was possible to go. That's important when I'm working - this hotel clearly understands that in 2016, good wifi is as basic as hot water.

"Lovely hotel in quiet grounds"
Spendee, 06 Février 2016

A great hotel that does weddings and parties. Rooms are standard best western but are comfortable and clean. Staff are friendly and helpful and the breakfast and restaurant food is very good. The hotel is tucked away off a main road with good links to Sheffield, Chesterfield and surrounding areas. Got a good B&B deal and they have a points club to encourage regular stays.

"History, comfort, service, quality, all made for a perfect stay"
2010mustang, 02 Février 2016

Check in was quick and smooth, receptionist was brilliant. Large bedroom with comfortable bed, tea/coffee and flat screen TV. Very modern bathroom, large fluffy towels, nice toiletieries. Had a drink in the very nice modern bar. Service a little slow as it was busy and they could have done with more than 1 barman. Dinner in Darcys was excellent. The menu is a little limited but interesting. Had scallops and black pudding and wife had duck pate, both extremely tasty and top quality. Both had lamb shank for mains which couldn't be faulted. Top marks to the chef and his team. Also thanks to our waiter, Andrew who was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was served at our table and was also lovely and service very good. All in all a brilliant stay in a brilliant hotel that has great staff.

"A bit of TLC would have made this perfect."
Nichola M, 01 Février 2016

My husband and I have just returned from a very pleasant over night stay at Mosborough Hall. As it was our Anniversary we chose to upgrade and stayed in the Robert de Stuteville Suite, a lovely spacious room with a beautiful bath in the room, a huge comfy bed and separate seating with lovely wet room, however we both immediately felt it required a bit of TLC! I think we decided that a lick of paint and a really good hoover in the nooks and crannies would have made this suite so much better! It was just a bit rough around the edges-our expectations were raised with the professional photos of the suite. This did not however take away from what was a really nice, relaxing break. The bar area was very pleasant, with a nice friendly atmosphere (wine pricey at £8 a glass, but I suppose to be expected in hotels). The meal at Darcy's restaurant was really nice. Again a lovely atmosphere in really romantic surroundings. The wine choice was excellent and the bottle of Pinot Noir was exceptional. The lamb shank, my main was outstanding as were my husbands scallops starter. The breakfast could have been so much better if the standard of buffet breakfast was maintained (we came down for breakfast at 9.30 and pastries, breads and fruit had certainly been picked over). Im not a huge lover of hot breakfasts that aren't buffet style as like to choose what I like, this breakfast was waitress service, which was adequate but beans cold and bacon rather fatty-beans were heated up when requested. I would certainly return to this hotel as really nice and quiet, close to Sheffield and the atmosphere romantic but not sure we would splash out the extra expense on a room that really did need some money spending on it to bring it back to quality it once was.

"50th ?? surprise "
Baines66, 31 Janvier 2016

A fantastic hotel with the BEST staff possible nothing was too much trouble as we needed to be close to home a hidden gem. The rooms were spacious clean & lovely & warm , bathroom was spotless clean & a good size with a bath / shower. Great location for exploring Derbyshire or even better for retail therapy. One of the best Best Westerns we have stopped in. The meal was very good value for money & the presentation was 200%.

"Fantastic Friendly Hotel"
16susan50, 27 Janvier 2016

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights whilst in Sheffield visiting friends. We we impressed when we approached the hotel as if looked attractive, clean and inviting. There's plenty of car parking spaces at the back of the hotel. Entering we were greeted in a friendly manner by an attentive member of staff. Our room was a standard double room and we had everything that we needed, ok no actual wardrobe but we did have plenty of hangers in a recess. Our room was replenished everyday with tea and coffee including a couple of packs of biscuits. The toiletries were replenished along with clean towels. The bed was comfortable with feather pillows and a feather mattress topper along with the benefit of feather duvet. Breakfast was fantastic, we both enjoyed the freshly cooked (not kept hot and serve yourself set up) full English every morning. Also on the menu was plenty of fresh fruit, yogurts, juice and pastries. The main menu also included porridge cooked to order and kippers or scrambled eggs with smoked salmon. If extra tea/coffee needed the staff are more than helpful to bring it to your room. We had room 108 but originally were allocated 109, the bedding looked a bit stained and as housekeeping had left for the day we were moved rooms. Both rooms are of a very good size, neither looked over the bins or at a brick wall. 109 looks over part of the car park and 108 looks towards the side of the hotel and over the driveway for the car park. Both rooms get light and have opening windows. We would highly recommend this hotel and would certainly go back there the next time we are in the area.

"birthday meal"
macsgirl1960, 19 Janvier 2016

Had a meal in the restaurant for my husbands birthday, food was good, nicely presented, staff attentive, a great evening had by all. I started with scallops with black pudding followed by lamb shank, wasn't so keen on caramel creme brulee was too sweet for my taste

"Lovely evening away"
Melanie G, 18 Janvier 2016

Had a fabulous evening away at the beginning of January. Fabulous room (Lord Darcy Suite), fabulous food and fabulous staff. Nothing was too much trouble. Great hotel, would thoroughly recommend. Will definitely be returning.

"Great Hotel"
GaryC1986, 12 Janvier 2016

Was booked as a Groupon voucher so never know what to expect. The hotel was very nice and exceeded our expectations. All staff were very friendly, the room was large with everything you'd need. The only criticism I have is with the food. Within the cost of the voucher was a 3 course meal. The food was nice enough and drinks priced fairly. Thing is for such a nice place I just wanted the food to be special. I didn't get that. And the restaurant feels a little bland. Love the bar area, shame the restaurant doesn't have the same warm feeling. Breakfast was a little greasy too. All in all I would recommend the hotel but wouldn't be too happy to be paying full price for the food. P.S. The afternoon tea was served in the bar, and was delicious!

"Lovely afternoon tea"
Marie H, 11 Janvier 2016

I booked afternoon tea for myself, my sister and my mum. We were seated promptly in the bar area which had a nice ambience. We ordered tea and wasn't waiting for long for our afternoon tea to arrive. There were plenty of finger sandwiches, the scones, jam and fresh cream were really lovely and so were the small cake treats. We had several pots of tea each and would definitely recommend afternoon tea.

"Yet again a lovely night out ??"
Ker389, 10 Janvier 2016

We had a birthday gathering for 12 and again what a lovely evening was had by all . Food even better than our last visit . Not a scrap left on a plate . And all topped of with lovely entertaining and pleasant staff . Andrew led a superb team . We will be back soon .

"Best Western"
Marcia P, 10 Janvier 2016

The rooms were very good but the level of service by the staff was even better, Big smiling face and very helpful. I will come back and would recommend the venue to anyone Did exactly what it said on the tin.

"Almost perfect"
GWEDGE, 09 Janvier 2016

Stayed here for two nights on a groupon and had a very nice time, Very clean and tidy lovley bar area and magnificent lounge. we stayed in the attached annex towards the rear of the property nice and quite never heard a thing, the room was spacious and clean with king bed and cleaned daily. we had a groupon that included a three course meal and here is where we had a couple of niggles, one was the time between ordering food and it been presented was way to long for our liking, 40 mins to pesent to pate starters then another 40 mins for mains to long. The hall itself is situated just on the edge of mosbourough and there are a few pubs just turn right out of the entrance go a couple of hundred yards past the george and dragon pub turn right on to a dead ended rd and down on the left is a brilliant indian restaurant The Vine see my other review. Also if you want to go into sheffield take the tram park and ride about a mile away its called Halfway park and ride, drive right out of the hotel go down the rd to the lights turn right again go down to the roundabout and you will see the park and ride, its £4.50 for you and the car at the machine and purchase £3.95 day riders for all other passengers and you travel unlimited on and off all day you will need to change trams in the centre for meadowhall, the conducters on the trams are very helpfull and will put you right. all in all a great trip well done Best Western.

"Interesting old manor house paired with dull mid 20th c extension"
sheilaDallas, 03 Janvier 2016

We spent 6 nights here in a standard double. Room was clean, quiet and v ordinary. Tho I'd say it was good value for the inexpensive room rate. Front desk service varied fm pleasant to unhelpful. The public rooms are far more interesting- especially the old hall dating back to 16 century. The block of bedrooms has been added to an old manor house. The addition is somewhat lacking in charm. We ate dinner one time in the older bldg and it was fairly good tho service was rather inefficient - sent our order to wrong table. The place does a brisk business in special events which didn't adversely affect our stay as we were on the far side of the newer wing. Parking got a bit iffy on the Saturday There are plenty of good pub restaurants close by and getting a good meal was not hard despite our visit being the week prior to Christmas.

"Boxing day dinner"
Paul K, 27 Décembre 2015

This is the second year running we have been on boxing day and got to say everything just as good, food lovely and the staff very welcoming,I may be wrong but staff seem to be local people which does help and adds to the friendly atmosphere as they do have a sense of humour which is nice to have.

"Wedding 5th September 2015"
glovesavebythegoalie, 27 Décembre 2015

Had our wedding there on the 5th September, nice venue but we had wedding cards stolen on the night. Our honeymoon suite didn't lock and one of the guests rooms didn't lock. Police have been involved but no luck in getting a resolution. Hotel staff didn't seem too interested in helping us out, once they had our money customer service wasn't great very little contact during police investigation. Wouldn't go back and would recommend if anyone is booking a wedding to make sure cards are somewhere extremely secure.

"Old with a modern twist"
Samantha L, 22 Décembre 2015

Pulling into the drive I knew I would love this hotel! We were met by the receptionist Alex who was an absolute delight, I felt I could've asked for anything and he would have made it happen. Unfortunately this view wasn't shared by the night receptionist who proved to be a bit rude and unhelpful. After a long day and evening visiting friends and relatives I enquired if I could have a sandwich from room service which it states in the information that I could have I was given a short "No". My partner and I decided to stay in the bar for a nightcap but again was told we couldn't have an Irish coffee and after a couple of brandies there wasn't any more left even though I could see it. We got chatting to some other guests and we had to take it in turns to go and find the night receptionist/porter to get served. This is a real shame because all the other staff during the day were very nice, the room very comfortable and the breakfast extremely filling! Perhaps it needed another member of staff on duty. I have stayed at other Best Westerns and haven't encountered this before so perhaps it was just a one off. If you are not bothered about room service or nightcaps then I would recommend this hotel for comfort, food and location.

"Really lovely accomadation"
Nigel Barry H, 21 Décembre 2015

I stayed here for three nights while working in Sheffield. The room was faultless as was the bathroom. An extremely comfortable bed a really nice television with good WiFi and tea and coffee. The only thing that was disappointing was £12.95 for a breakfast? Really !! in the last 18 months of working all over the UK this was the most expensive , sandwiches were £4/5 wow!!!

"Christmas afternoon Tea"
KEMSheffield, 17 Décembre 2015

Nice food good surroundings and pleasant staff a very enjoyable Christmas treat. Would recommend. Tasty sandwiches, lovely scones with jam and cream and mini deserts served with a pot of tasty coffee each.

"Fantastic hotel and locatikn"
Sophie M, 15 Décembre 2015

Me and my boyfriend went to visit some friends who lived in Sheffield. We also had a voucher which entitled us to stay at this hotel for 2 nights bed and breakfast, and main meal on the first night. If I hadn't of had the voucher I would of paid for the hotel! The location is perfect, 10 minutes away from Sheffield centre and lots of local pubs around. The staff were very friendly. So much so on our first night we ordered a bottle of wine in the restaurant. It took 10 minutes to arrive and the waitress could not apologise enough, so she gave it us on the house! We only spent £1.50 in the hotel and that was on lemonade! The food was brilliant, the 3 course meal was from the Christmas menu and we were spoilt for choice at breakfast. As I said perfect location, very friendly and warming. Will definitely be back when we are next in Sheffield ??

"Welcoming and tasty"
Doylie2014, 13 Décembre 2015

We celebrated an anniversary and it didn't disappoint. The staff were very attentive, the surroundings very nicely done and the food was good. We were a party of ten and everyone enjoyed their choices and the price was really good too. A big thank you and we will return.

"Lovely venue, excellent food and really nice staff"
Jayemm123, 12 Décembre 2015

I've been to Mosborough Hall a few times recently, and each time it has been very good. Recently I went with a group of friends to a christmas party night, and didn't really expect much more than a standard christmas party, but happily we were all very impressed with the food, the service, the atmosphere - all really lovely. I had a christmas dinner, it was beautifully presented and tasted lovely. The vegetables were fresh and not over-cooked. The Yule log was really nice - very rich and chocolatey. The staff were attentive and friendly, and kept the tables tidy. The only niggle was that there weren't enough bar staff when we arrived, and so there were large queues to get drinks, but other than that, it was great.

"Slop in a pot"
Kas B, 10 Décembre 2015

We have eaten here many times and the food & service was always good. On this occasion we were disappointed. We had balsamic bread and olive's to start. We had to ask for more balsamic to be added , as it was all oil. This was rectified and it was very tasty. We hadn't finished our starter and the waiter then came with our main course's we sent him away, as we hadn't finished,. We thought this was very rude and unprofessional. Finally after a break our main course's arrived. We both had braised venison. It came well presented, but it was not what we expected. It was very sloppy and mushed up. We would definitely not have paid full price for a lot of slop.As on this occasion we used our gourmet card. It definitely isn't worth £16. Also the service was appalling. We will never return. What a shame that such a lovely restaurant has gone to the dogs.

"Fantastic place"
sessle31, 07 Décembre 2015

This hotel is lovely the staff are really helpful when we arrived we got soaked due to the heavy rain the staff rushed to out assistance as my husband was on crutches they couldn't do enough for us, we will be back very soon to stay in one of your luxurious rooms, we can't wait

"Works Christmas party"
Nikki C, 07 Décembre 2015

Beautiful building, great coffee, clean room, disappointing food and crazy heating. We went for a Christmas party, the place is really nice and better that some hotels if this type but the food is not great, over cooked beef and the prawn starter was bare prawns on lettuce. Not very exciting. The room was basic but clean, the heating was on full blast but was fine once turned off and the window opened. But the ladies loo near the bar had the heating on so high the room made me feel queasy. For the price, not bad.But still room for improvement.

"awesome"
SteveGrimes56, 18 Novembre 2015

got to say this is the best of best westerns I have ever stayed at. clean fresh decor in public and private areas. Excellent front of house staff. Excellent housekeeping, very very clean. The food in the restaurant is outstanding got to say the chef knows how to cook. This is fine dining

"Delightful Hotel in lovely area"
Peter1208, 17 Novembre 2015

This was the first time I've stayed here, and it won't be the last! Bar is a bit pricey, as is the restaurant however the food is excellent. Rooms was spacious, well appointed and very clean. If you're a history buff - there's a lot about this place to study. The grounds are extensive - however I stayed in November so didn't get the opportunity to explore properly.

"Lovely room , helpful staff"
jaybhayani, 15 Novembre 2015

I wanted to surprise my girlfriend and ask her to marry me at the side of a four poster bed. The staff at teh hotel were very helpful and went along with a little subterfuge . The room was just right it went as I intended. I would definitely come back .

"Pleasant stay in a nice location"
Andy N, 14 Novembre 2015

This was our second visit. The hotel adjoins the historic hall. The room we had was cosy, clean and modern. The restaurant food is the usual faire, but I would recommend a short walk down the road to visit the local pubs or Indian restaurants - The Vine is excellent and is 10 mins walk away, serving a large range of spicy and delicious Indian food. The Internet was poor on this occasion in the hotel.

"Pleasant hotel in the suburbs"
Steve J, 10 Novembre 2015

I checked in for a three night stay in October. The hotel is situated in a semi-rural suburb of Sheffield a short distance from the Supertram park and ride. The good points first: Excellent staff Excellent service Attractive bar and restaurant area Immaculately clean Good room standard. Quiet. And the not so good: The bed in my room had an incredibly soft mattress, I'd say way too soft. Magnolia painted walls. Too much furniture made the room feel cluttered. Limited and rather bland vegetarian options in the menu. The light coloured, worn carpet and paint grade doors make the corridors look shabby.

"Great bar and restaurant "
sky_traveller007, 09 Novembre 2015

I stayed here twice in the last 10 days and on both occasions I was meet with a warming and pleasant welcome. Rooms are clean and spacious. The bar is very cool with its glass wall that backs onto the old exterior of the building, serving lovely food and drinks. The restaurant is just next to the bar and although I didn't eat in there it looked fabulous from outside and the smells that wafted into the bar were delightful. All in all a lovely hotel with friendly staff.

"Outstanding visit"
MalcolmH65, 08 Novembre 2015

The service we experienced was excellent in that everyone concerned was friendly and helpful, including reception, waiting, kitchen and support staff. They could not do enough to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. May have something to do with them all speaking "Yorkshire". The room was spacious and well appointed. I have never stayed in a hotel where the bed was so comfortable, with feather duvet and pillows. It is often the type and quality of the pillows that determines how good (or not) a night's sleep is available. From our point of view, the location of the hotel was ideal. Easily found a few minutes drive from the M1, and within a five minute drive from the park-and-ride for the Supertram, from whence it was but a half-hour ride to the city centre. Given that we were a party of twenty four, the restaurant coped very smoothly, with efficient but non-intrusive service. The menu each day offered a good choice per course and the food was both delicious and plentiful. This is by far the best hotel we have stayed in for quite some time.

"Disappointed"
Amirah T, 08 Novembre 2015

booked for a business trip the website and description looked good -rooms very nice - booked a standard double, what i got was a twin with the beds pushed together, very uncomfortable and far to soft and bouncy def did not have good nights sleep and the room left a lot to be desired, it was room but nothing desirable, dingy looking walls, stains in carpet no remote for TV and hairs in the bath and on the bathroom shelf, was no comparison to the hotel this room really let it down, would stay again for a better room Room #005 is not a room i want again

"Great hotel, fabulous food"
gatagirl1, 08 Novembre 2015

The hotel is great, the food is fabulous, the staff are very welcoming and friendly. Overall a great night away. We went with Red Letter Days, a present from our son and even got a complimentary bottle of wine...fantastic...!!!

"A Wedding to Remember "
Andy B, 01 Novembre 2015

Stayed 31/10/15, this was for the wedding of our two closest friends. The setting is beautiful, our room was lovely and most importantly the staff could not do enough to help. All the team were great and we're always on hand to make everything run smoothly. Really can't praise everyone enough. Thank you.

"Great Hotel and Staff"
Dan L, 01 Novembre 2015

Excellent staff and hotel, that made our anniversary weekend feel very special. We stayed in the Lord John Darcy Suite, which was beautiful with a lovely four poster bed and a classical decor. Thank you so much.

"Lovely suite"
lmoores, 25 Octobre 2015

We booked for dinner bed and breakfast, we could not make the dinner due to a previous commitment.. so when we got back their at 11pm there was a lovelt plate full of sandwiches with a greek salad yum yum

"Average hotel, awful food"
WDawson222, 20 Octobre 2015

The hotel looks great when you drive up to it, even entering reception it is well lit and furnished. The glass fronted bar area is really modern and the restaurant is a fantastic space which really makes good use of the buildings heritage. However, once you venture inside you find that the rooms have not been treated to the same level of care. They are dated and small, and actually the bed in our room was incredibly uncomfortable, I don't think there was any life in any of the springs. There was paint missing all over the room and looked in serious need of some TLC. We had booked a table for dinner so ventured down, the restaurant was half full and had a good atmosphere. We ordered our food, no starters straight to mains. After 55 long minutes of waiting we finally received our food. This was an unacceptably long wait for a half empty restaurant. I can only imagine the chef must have been braising the beef to order, conversely it could have used a little bit longer as it was tough as boots and very under seasoned. It was a very unappealing and bland offering as you can see from the attached photo. Watch out if you do dine here, there is very little on the menu that you can eat without paying a supplement, even the veggie options are supplemented which is unusual. The GP in the kitchen must be incredible!! On returning to my room I thought I would enjoy a coffee before I went to sleep, only to be disappointed again as I had 8 teabags but not a single sachet of coffee. PJ tips and Tetleys though as well as two different brands of sweetener to choose from :) All things considered a very average hotel that I wouldn't rush back too. A real shame though as it has so much potential.

"Beautifully hotel"
Angela C, 14 Octobre 2015

We recommend this hotel for a beautiful building and location Bar area and service attentive Comfortable beds very clean Breakfast and service wonderful Definitely stay here again when we come to mosbororough again to visit family

"Average at best"
Adrian1966, 13 Octobre 2015

Just sent two night here, its an average hotel at best and i`m glad i didn`t shell out the whole amount it cost to stay here. The plus points: Friendly staff The poor points The rooms while large (we had 215) were as boring as, painted in magnolia and white, with large blank walls and a very small TV. the bed was large but very very soft. The builing that our room was in was again just covered in magnolia and a few bits of art that almost blended into the walls they were that dull.

"Comedy club "
Jane H, 11 Octobre 2015

Well what can I say, stunning night, amazing meal in the Darcies restaurant 3 course, The curry was always nice but this is taking it to another level. Thankyou see you again in November. Looking forward to round four of the comedy club whoop whoop xx

"Weddings "
Louiep1977, 10 Octobre 2015

As a wedding photographer I visit lots of venues Today I was blown away with how helpful the staff were. They pampered to the every need of the couple. Jodie was an outstanding hostess she made my role so easy! I own a bridal shop also and would not hesitate to recommend this wedding venue

"Wedding venue"
richJay, 07 Octobre 2015

we stopped as part of our sons Wedding at first felt disappointed that you are not able to book into the hotel before 2PM but were eventually let into the rooms before perhaps a little moan does help . onto the Hotel set in a Historic house the wedding went perfectly so a credit to all the staff at mosborough hall . the meal was exceptional as was the breakfast .So after a less than fantastic start it all turned out great

"Good hotel"
Holibags54, 28 Septembre 2015

Stayed here in July for 2 nights for a family reunion which was being held close by. Rooms are spotless and spacious enough. Bed was very comfy, my one criticism with the room was that the lighting was very poor in both bedroom and bathroom so I struggled to do my make up. Breakfast is buffet style and was nice.

"first wedding anniversary"
P4223HWsteves, 28 Septembre 2015

very pleasant hotel, comfy bed ,tasty breakfast very nice card, petals and heart towel art for our anniversary there was a wedding party on both our nights but that did not disturb us in any way the only slight issue we had was the shower head in our bathroom did not flow very well

"booked a king size got a double"
dawn s, 28 Septembre 2015

booked to stop on the 26th September 2015 king size bed with breakfast through Hotels.com uk but we were put in a double & had to tell them that they had missed breakfast off the booking. didn't have a king size to offer us, Very disappointed as we booked a king size room for my husbands birthday 258 sq feet. the hotel is very beautiful and breakfast was delicious.

"Comfy bed but..."
fimunn, 26 Septembre 2015

50 minutes wait for food was far too long considering the dining room was half empty and smoked lamb rump was an experiment they hopefully won't repeat! I certainly will be more careful ordering lamb again! Room was comfortable but when i unplugged the airfreshener before dinner, the smell of cigarettes on our return was evident...non smoking room? No but fortunately the window opened.
