One of the best hotels I have ever stayed in my life. Its a boutique place with a lot of outside area to explore. The food is delectable. The rooms are large enough compared to European standards. The hotel is rich with design artifacts and paintings. It has a place with a small water body and an old style canal which has a photogenicity to it. The management and crew has warmth, and help you wherever required. Only, once at the dinner table did we experience some snobbish waiters who were hesistant to assist us when we had ordered. Otherwise, all good.
below expectations, no service at the pool, little service at the bar and restaurant for breakfast, noisy air conditioning even after changing rooms, at the time of billing a service charge was inserted explained as a liberal tip that is distributed to the staff, of course I had it removed but the attempt is absolutely unpleasant, the place is absolutely not worth the price paid. Quality of the breackfast poor.
What a gorgeous place. Peaceful, idyllic and nothing too Much trouble. My son and I had the most amazing sleep here, wonderful beds and gorgeous rooms. Even the small bar area serves delicious food. A real gem of a place. Gorgeous pool and wonderful buffet breakfast.
Advertising the hotel as a "Superior 4 Star" is misleading. While the location and the building are lovely, the hotel itself is mediocre and has significant room for improvement. It is understaffed and poorly serviced. The people who worked were pleasant and helpful but were too little in number to service this building. The common areas lack staff to serve guests. The pool, essentially a hot bath for toddlers, isn't refreshed enough, and the shaded regions are very limited. There is no drinking water available at the pool, so you must bring your own, which quickly becomes warm in the heat. Of course, there is no bar. Expect a deserted, hot, empty space rather than a refreshing dip at the end of your day. The central cooling system in the rooms is inadequate, making the rooms very hot, and there is no individual A/C. The rooms only offer Nescafe instead of proper coffee. The spa is essentially a sauna with only one massage bed, lacking even basic amenities like chairs or fresh water or extra towels. You must walk through the lobby in your bathrobe to the bar to get water, where you may have to wait for a non-existent bartender. Therefore, it's advisable to bring your own water if you plan to visit the spa for a massage. The restaurant has never a table available for dinner. When you want to book, it is always totally booked, even for the customers staying in. So, you must make the effort of walking to the nearest place for dinner at the end of a hard day's touring. The kitchen is so understaffed that they cannot even offer room service. The number of kitchen and server staff is so small that they cannot serve dinner for their customers, so they close the restaurant with a limited number of people. It would have been a better experience if we knew no services were available.
Very pleased on arrival, was worried after reading other reviews, but the truly Italian experience and architecture wowed us. Location is on the river about 12 minutes drive from Florence but hotel has a shuttle bus, or get taxi to town. Evening meal in the restaurant is fine dining, superb. Breakfast room is another wow, with great selection of food
Not quite the stay we were hoping for. Although we knew we were out of town we were hoping the advertised shuttle buses would help. The shuttles came with a €2.50 fee pp for each journey which at previous hotels they did not charge for. There's also no late night return shuttle past 7.30pm so if you're going out for dinner expect the get a taxi back! The rooms were TINY one of the smallest rooms we've ever stayed in and the a/c wasn't great. Overall I'd think twice before spending your money staying here.
A very relaxing stay for a honeymoon! Food is delicious and the staff is very friendly. Rooms are clean and comfortable. We loved the free spa access. That was really nice to do in the mornings. We will defiantly be back in the future!!!!!!!!!
The room was small but comfortable and the place is lovely if you love history. -Giorgio is an outstanding Restaurant manager. Sadly we only met him the day before we left, because prior to that the service was not the best except for Lani that made sure we got our much needed coffee on time. The front desk staff was Great!... Yohanna, Valeria, and Giulia helped us with tourism, Taxis, car rentals etc. We had been to this Hotel 4 years ago and there was more staff and breakfast had more choices, but we would surely come back to this secluded place outside the busy center.
Great hotel outside Florence. Clean and comfy rooms with view to the river. Good pool area and really friendly staff. Breakfast varied day after day: on the first morning it was perfect but on the second morning everything seemed to be already eaten. Short taxidrive to the city took about 20 euros. Hotel offered shuttle bus service but the times were bit difficult. Remember to make reservations to Fllorence restaurants.
A beautiful hotel that is not your typical high rise hotel, but more of a large estate. Beautiful grounds and the rooms are well appointed. We had stayed here 5 years ago and enjoyed ourselves so we decided to return, with our daughter. Since there were 3 of us, we booked the Superior Triple Room which turned out to be a sleeper sofa on the first floor and narrow steps leading to the bed upstairs. I wasn't expecting this from the pictures on the website because if I had seen this room, I would not have booked it. The air conditioning was fine on the first floor, however, there was no air making it upstairs so it was hot up there. Beds and pillows were comfortable. There was no TV guide, so you had to scroll through each channel to see what was on each channel. The restaurant was very nice, as was the bar, however, they are very understaffed as it seems to be common all over. There was one waiter in the restaurant to handle about 10 tables, so there was a delay in getting your order. My daughter ordered her beef fillet medium well - it came out rare. We asked the waiter to have them cook it longer, he took it, but we never got it back. When leaving, he apologized about never getting it back to her, that was fine, a minor slip up. The next night that same waiter was working the bar and I joked with him that he does everything, nice guy. People should know that the hotel is outside of Florence, and you either take the shuttle for 7.50 Euro, or a taxi (which will cost about 25 - 30 euros each way. You will NOT walk to anywhere from this hotel, however it is a very relaxing location.
Great hotel out of the city in the countryside, so nice and quiet nothing around it , shuttle bus into city, totally relaxing place if and when you want to get away from the city. Good breakfast and the bar snacks are good quality, we would return when back in the area
The hotel is far from Firenze. Tiny rooms that don't fit a suitcase. Horrible bathroom, with roadside hotel amenities. Old hotel, in need of urgent renovation. And an improvement in service. I strongly recommend that you choose another hotel.
A lovely hotel about ten minutes from the outskirts of Florence. Polite staff. Good food. A decent courtyard area with plenty of shade when it's hot. Pool a bit chilly when you get in but it's clean and is the right temperature for swimming. Great views over there surrounding areas. Get the shuttle bus into the city for a few euros.
Lovely location just outside Florence center (12 min taxi ride for €15-20 or take the hotel shuttle). Super clean, quiet and charming, located in an old mill right on the Arno. The staff were super helpful, knowledgeable, engaged and friendly. Always going above and beyond to provide great service or anticipate your needs—particularly Daniele in the bar and Salvatore at the restaurant who were warm and personable in every encounter. The front desk staff were welcoming and able to answer every question, provide anything asked for, and offer travel and sightseeing tips. Definitely spring for the daily breakfast. It is AMAZING…a ton of selection, beautifully presented and delicious in a stunning outdoor/indoor dining area overlooking the river. All the food, in fact, is fantastic…including bar menu during day and dinner at the restaurant at night. The spa services, which included free sauna and steam room and fairly-priced massages (several types), were above par. The spa itself is tranquil and spotless, and the 60-min. deep tissue massage I rec'd for €80 was one of the best I've ever rec'd. At Hotel Murino, you really get an amazing, high-end experience at an incredibly reasonable price. It was one of the few times a hotel totally exceeded my expectations. Honestly, the only small suggestion I can offer would be for the pool area. It's a nice pool in a lovely spot, but could be turned into a really special experience with a bit more attention paid to landscaping and decor. But we still enjoyed it for sure during the hot August afternoons.
Absolutely perfect. Nice room, perfect staff, free sauna, free parking and swimming pool. Breakfast simply sumptuous. Our room was spacious and sunny, sparkling clean when we checked in. Incredible view and nice walks along the Arno river. Our dog simply loved it (very dog friendly). A must stay hotel!
I'll come to the "mostly" bit further below but let's start with all the very good points. Very close to, but not in Florence city centre directly, and located by the river makes this an excellent location. Very peaceful, romantic almost. Beautiful old building with very well appointed rooms. Lovely restaurant with a great menu, excellent quality (both; breakfast and dinner) enhanced even more by a super nice, and professional, 'front of house'. Disappointingly, the large pool / "river" was dry and not in use. Not only our son had been looking forward to this feature and the hotel should have advised of this when we booked! (to be fair: we did not book directly but, there was direct communication with the hotel immediately after the booking). Other than in the restaurant, the service has room for improvement. No towels at the pool and walking to reception 3 times before we finally got some towels can't be it. There are lovely outdoor seating areas but they are not serviced so, if you want to enjoy a coffee or, a glass of wine, with the beautiful view on to the river, it's another walk to the bar...
What a wonderful holiday! We are so glad we stayed a little out of Florence and we got the best of both worlds with this gorgeous hotel. It was lovely and quiet, peaceful setting with a decent size pool. Lovely courtyard and a nice restaurant on site where we could sit out looking over the river for dinner drinks and breakfast. The shuttle takes you into Florence we got it there and back most days but for days we didn't make the last shuttle we got a taxi for £20. We walked once I wouldn't recommend that. There's some lovely restaurants and bars nearby within walking distance, all local and brilliant. The room was nice and comfortable with great views. The staff were all lovely. I can't recommend this hotel enough.
I've used all my adjectives before, sorry to repeat myself, but it was a blissful stay. I wanted a place away from the hustle of Florence but not too far, I also wanted to be able to enjoy the beautiful weather sitting by a pool. I was certainly not disappointed, already when I told the cab driver where I was going he spontaneously said “You will absolutely love there, it's a beautiful hotel” he was right. The first bedroom assigned to me was adorable and with a terrace, but no view. I decided to upgrade to a river view and I could not be happier. I actually feel I'm in a boat since my corner room has a direct view into the water. Bed is delicious, and high ceilings is very much appreciated. The bathroom is gorgeous with a jet bathtub and rain shower, also with the view of the river. I'm sitting here right now writing my review, I could not be more pleased to enjoy my last day looking at my view before going to the amazing seafood restaurant a short walk from the hotel. I should point out the the front desk ladies were absolutely lovely, Sofia and Marina, will do everything to enhance your stay, including helping me make my move tomorrow to their sister hotel Plaza Lucchesi in town. The taxi ride is around 20 euros, but they do have a shuttle that picks you up in the morning to take you to Firenze. Breakfast is quite varied and Hilária will be sure to fetch your coffee in wherever way you desire. The pool area was absolutely wonderful and made my stay complete. The history of the Mulino is quite interesting, and the transformation into a hotel beautifully and tastefully done. Artwork and is everywhere throughout the property including the lovely paintings in my room. Bravo!
