Hôtel location excellent! But for a best western (and the price), could be better. We got a suite which was big but the beds for the 2 other adults was a couch that turned into tiny bunk beds for kids. The site does not say that. Internet did not work. Otherwise it is nice.
Parking, reception, bedroom, bed, comfort, dining area (outside and in), staff, food, value, sleep, bathroom, hairdryers, towels, view - all superb! My ONLY complaint would be that it is not on our normal routes BUT I would detour to stay here! I know it is a Best Western - have stayed in some of theirs which were shocking - but it is far better than ANY chain hotel!! HIGHLY recommend….!!
Beautifully located in the old town next to the castle; very nice historical building from the outside. But the rest is underwhelming, feels like an American motel. It's clean; no worries, but absolutely lacking any traces of French charm. Food is average as well. Service ok. Stay there if you have to; but we will not come back.
Room was basically the equivalent of a Travelodge in the UK. Very very basic. Nothing on tv apart from CNN. Noisy and a rip off to be totally honest. A really rough clientele there as well. Restaurant was ok albeit some of the staff were pretty dopey.
This hotel has saved us during a trip to France. Our car broke down late on a Saturday and thankfully we were able to get a family room for the weekend while we wait for repairs on Monday. The family room is actually 2 rooms like a mini apartment. The staff were extremely helpful when we were stressed and spoke to our recovery agents over the phone due to language barriers. I cant recommend this hotel enough...it has literally saved us
Lovely old style hotel is pretty village. Has a full service restaurant, tad pricey, but a welcome reprieve as you are in the middle of nowhere. The village itself is lovely, great cheese shop, bread and grocery. Room basic, bed fine, pillows too high. Bathroom smallish but nice and clean.
Beautiful room. We had a suite with a king size bed and a separate living/dining area with a sofa bed for my 10 year old. Air con was much needed in this heat. Decent bathroom and shower that could rip your skin off it was so powerful! We didn't have an evening meal but breakfast was ok. The hot food was a bit overcooked for my taste and the containers keeping the food warm we're very hot to touch. The hotel is in a beautiful little village. The view from our room of the church was stunning and listening to the bells was lovely. There are several restaurants nearby but most seemed to close by 9pm. A lovely experience though. I will return
We stayed over to break our journey from southern France and it was good. Room was spacious if not luxurious, restaurant food was good and tasty and the wine selection was good too. Overall a good stay. Only 4 stars as coffee machine wasn't great and had to ask for a kettle.
In the center of a typical French Village, not far from the A10, it was good to have a quiet stay. Well prepared diner, good wine. Breakfast included. Nice people The room was clean, as was the bathroom
Ok hotel, and nice restaurant downstairs. After a 7 hour drive and very much in need of some food and a beer when we arrived at 7:30pm, we were very disappointed to find that the restaurant and bar were closed (despite the website saying they are open every day). Very slim pickings for food elsewhere in Dourdan, especially on a Sunday evening. The church next door, while very picturesque, provides a regular bell toll throughout the night. All that said, this was our return journey north having stayed here a week ago on our way to the south. During our first stay we had room service from the restaurant- lovely food, and the reception staff were very helpful and accommodating.
We have stayed here before so had no worries. Staff, evening meal excellent but we were disappointed. We were informed on arrival that the internet was slow. I think it was non existent. My husband had some important work to do on his laptop and was not happy that the password was not accepted. We had looked forward to breakfast but as we could not get near it for flies and wasps we found a cafe opposite. This really let them down, food was not covered and very unhygienic. We did complain at reception. We make frequent trips through France and my husband did say that he would not stay there again. Shame.
Stopped with our dog en route to the Dordogne. Free parking which was great, room was clean and comfortable. Staff were very nice and friendly. We had our evening meal in the hotel restaurant, which I would not recommend. There are a couple of restaurants right outside the hotel which would be worth trying.
situated in the heart of a lovely small town with relaxed atmosphere Hotel was great - clean quiet and well run and friendly staff loved being able to stay with our dog and had a lovely view of the church / cathedral
The outside of the hotel looks characteristic (but that's the only thing with character). And free parking in front of the hotel is very convenient. Inside it doesn't match the cosy exterior. It's old and needs renovation and has no ambiance. The room was spacious (also because we had to get a 3-person room and pay extra because we had a baby with us while the website says baby's are free). In the bathroom the water didn't go through so even if you just wanted to take a shower you would be up to your ankles in water. We did like the fact that we had more towels than usual. The restaurant we really looked forward to after a long journey but was the biggest disappointment. Service is awful, not friendly and no word of English while almost all the guests were Dutch or German. Written menu was difficult to read and had not many options. The waiters were sighing out loud when we asked things. First we got a bottle of wine with cork for 30 euro's that was just put in front of us without giving us a taste. We asked for replacement (which we got and liked). Then the menu didn't turn out to be vegetarian friendly (I know we were in France but come on! It's 2021). This was the end of our journey and everywhere else they had good vegetarian options. They charged 15 euro's for half a zucchini and some slices of carrots and I was still hungry the rest of the night. Come on people! I'm vegetarian, not a rabbit. Then breakfast.... first we found out that the coffee machine in the room was broken. Then when going to the breakfast room, unfriendly staff in a room with (again) not the slightest bit of ambiance. All cheese, jams, etc was prepackaged. No good bread. No coffee options like cappuccino. For children only junk full of sugar. No fruit salad, no croissants, no scrambled eggs or sausages. We ended up paying around 250 euro's for that night... Sooooo not worth it.
If you want a bit of character to a well-run chain hotel then this is a good choice. All the basics are there but a few small flaws experienced on our stay: -Air con made a noise every few minutes so we had to turn it off early in the night - Seal around the shower leaked so bathroom floor was soaking wet - Church immediately opposite which rang a bell every hour through the night so sleep was disturbed!! - No vegetarian options in the restaurant, they tried but seemed not to really understand the concept. We ended up with a plate of 3 veg (but still charged full price) ended up wishing I had just asked for a bowl of chips. Yes I know this is France, but even still... But on the plus side: + Breakfast was fresh and plentiful + Clean + free parking on site It is an interesting town with enough to see and lots of restaurants
We stayed in a queen suite, the room was very big, and nice however we were a bit disappointed as we expected to have 2 double beds ( 1 king size and a sofa bed) and ended up with 1 king size and a single bed that turns into a bunk bed. On the other side the rest was very good, the breakfast was excellent and the lady at the front desk was very kind.
I had read on the reviews that there were a mix of rooms...some newly remodeled and others rather shabby. I had requested a 'refreshed room' and was told via email that I would have one of them. We arrived from America early in the morning and had arranged for an early check in at noon. When we got to the the lobby, we asked if we could leave our luggage and the two ladies at the front desk were very friendly and gracious. We asked if our room was ready earlier than noon and they said no problem...we could get a room. Although the service at the front desk was outstanding, I was very disappointed in the absolutely tiny room size. It looked nothing like the picture on the web site. I wondered if the staff, in trying to accommodate my early check-in gave us a smaller room. Since we were only there one night, we happily accepted the room but it was for two people unbelievably small. The onsite restaurant was absolutely delightful and we had both lunch and dinner there. Great food and service and a wonderfully warm ambiance. Despite the tiny room, our stay in Dourdan at this Best Western was excellent.
the facade of this building is lovely but inside the rooms are dated and very small. we asked for another room as the first we were shown was in the attic with a tiny window, the second room wasn't much better and apparently there were no suites left - we would have paid more, not expecting a freebie. its dog friendly which is a plus. hard to find as its tucked away of a pretty square. we had a quick breakfast here in the morning but not dinner. we wouldnt stay here again which is a shame as the staff were all very nice and it has a nice garden to the side, just the room and bathroom let it down.
Very nice and accommodating hotel. Wonderful employees, very helpful. Rooms are really nice, so much better than in the United States. Parking is nearby and wasn't a problem. Centrally located and very walkable. Lots of restaurants, shops nearby.
at 40 kms from Paris it was an excellent stop on our way back home ( Belgium): we could have an early breakfast and pass Paris in 30 min time !! The city is interesting with medieval castle, the hotel is perfectly located, has a large private parking, accept pets .. the staff is super and the restaurant certainly the best in town !
Such a lovely building in a pretty town. Parking was easy, the room large and the shower spacious. A kettle for coffee was an unusuall treat ! Breakfast good and evening meal delicious ! Why is this place only 3star ? It had the feel of a 4*
At an otherwise decent 'stopover' hotel - Best Western Dourdan, France - we booked a table at the hotel for our evening meal. Our waitress was Magalie. We were one of the first tables to sit down and order. We watched as guests who arrived half an hour later received their meals. When we politely asked where our starter was (it was a set menu!) she said 'you are not the only ones in the restaurant!'. We were flabbergasted by this brusque reaction. We were not the only ones, but we certainly had ordered before many others! The same thing happened with our main course and when she did go to the kitchen she came straight back with our main course and just short of slammed our plates down. And our daughter's burger was not brought out with our food. That took another 3 minutes and attending other tables before returning to the kitchen! Our daughter waited an hour for a burger!!! This person - Magalie - should not be in catering, she obviously is not interested in showing hospitality or taking care of her paying guests.
Hidden in this typical French village is the three-star hotel. Warm welcome, tidy room. Well, maintenance needs to be done, but otherwise the hotel offers a lot. There is a lift, parking on site and in the room a kettle, Wi-Fi, a safe (only that it still needs to be secured!), tissues. Shower in the bath. The big surprise is the restaurant with a busy terrace in the sun. The restaurant is completely full in the evening. Rightly so, because it is excellent with good menus and excellent wines by the glass. The simple breakfast is just OK.
The room was great, atmosphere was nice, but the pricing of drinks and food in the restaurant was way too high and the same goes for breakfast, Mediocre food for large prices. We also received a seperate bill for something that supposed to be in the menu. I had to check to find out.
We stayed one night on route from Dordogne to Calais and found the hotel to be clean and comfortable with a lovely bar and lounge area and parking. So far so good. Unfortunately we had a very noisy room above the kitchen which received a delivery before daylight which woke us up, We went down for breakfast at 8.55 to find that most of the buffet had gone...there were no more pastries, very little bread and two bits of ham left - there were yoghurts and cereals but it was not an abundant spread for 12 euros each. I went to reception to complain about the lack of croissants etc and had to suggest they go to get some from the boulangerie in the village which they did but we had no apologie. Also the cups of the table were dirty (we were not the only ones to complain about this - we are not generally complainers). They said the machine had not washed them properly. It is a shame as this hotel has great potential but there seems to be a lack of engagement and pride from the management.
We have stayed at this hotel many times-we get a family room and it's a perfect stop off after a long drive from UK We arrived and we're met by a less than smiley helpful receptionist-given our room and that was it. However when we got in to our room we could not even open the door as the camp bed for our son was blocking it.. We went down to the reception and after requesting a room which we could not have ..they moved a desk so the door could open. Great! There was actually @ 18 inches to move around the room it was ridiculous but the staff could not see it. The other thing is if you stay here on a Sunday there is absolutely no where to eat-the hotel offers a cold plate food and that is it..the rest of the town is closed- after an 11 hour drive this was not ideal. On a Sunday ''young staff'' are on and there is a certain lack of knowledge and understanding of what is expected we felt After staying here many times I am struggling to find a reason to stay again
Been here a couple of times through work, the rooms are being done up slowly so if you are unfortunate to get a room which has not been renovated quite honestly it is disgusting, old smelly carpets, the tiny almost dangerous shower room, the walk to the 'room' without lighting and miles away from the actual hotel is scary and I would not like the kids or single women wandering around by themselves, the food is school cantine food and not particularly apetising. All in all if I had the choice we'd never go there.
My husband booked this hotel on the last leg of our road trip through France due to the relative close proximity to CDG in Paris. We were so pleasantly surprised by this hotel...someone at Best Western needs a promotion. Can't say what it was like before it was taken over, but the cleanliness, service and restaurant helped make our last night a delight. The village of Dourdan doesn't show up in major tourists books, and boy are we lucky. Charming, lovely square, cool castle and awfully nice people make this a place one might fantasize about living in. There was a fantastic food and goods market (ok, like so many of the markets, goods made in China) on Wednesday, amazing patisseries, and a lovely Optical store where I finally got my souvenir from France - cool frames by a French designer. The rooms could be a touch larger and a little more stylish, but the bed was soft, the area quiet at night and birds were singing out the window in the morning. Who could ask for more?
Friendly staff, clean and nicely decorated. The medieval villages is also very nice. Just 10 min from A10. Definitely worth it! You will find several restaurants for different taste. Parking is availebel but the entrance is a bit difficult to find.
Big room, comfortable bed, nice staff, good value for money. However In my opinion there's a lot of improvement for breakfast. There's no cooked breakfast (don't expect eggs, sausages or bacon), coffee is bad quality and only available from an automatic coffee machine, pastries are industrial, no fresh fruit, only tap water available etc. At €12 per head you could expect something slightly better
If you are in the area for business trip then this is the best place to stay - i had been staying at one of the hotels in Etampes until a colleague showed me this place - i would recommend this hotel.
We travel frequently between Holland and the south of France and are always trying to find good hotels to break the journey in half. This time we stayed in Blanche de Castille and it was memorable. The welcome at the reception was most friendly, the room comfortable, clean and quiet and we could park our car in the safety of the inner courtyard. Blanche de Castille has an almost medieval appearance, but is totally and tastefully renovated to meet all of today's standards. There is also a cosy brasserie/lobby with an impressive fireplace. We had dinner there and service as well as food were excellent. We will most certainly return here!
Stayed here to avoid driving into Paris the night before our flight home. Dourdan has some quaintness but not much going on. We were there on a Monday and every restaurant in town was closed. Hotel was fine. Rooms were comfortable. Had dinner in the hotel since it was the only place open. Dinner was surprisingly good.
we stayed in Dourdan on the way south (there and back) and thought the hotel comfortable without being particularly luxurious. The rooms on the way there were somewhat spartan and the shower didnt work - however on the way back we were much luckier. The village was a nice one for a stroll around and all-in-all perfectly OK for a stopover
We booked this as an overnight stop on the way back from the South of France, and so pleased that I did! The location was just as fantastic as the hotel, with a 13th century church next door and a Castle less than 100 yards away. The hotel itself was recently renovated to an impeccable standard, and you get a real feel for the historic surroundings but with all the modern amenities. Nothing not to like here, room was fantastic, king size bed for 2 adults and bunk beds for 2 children who also had their own TV and terrace which looked out onto the church. Also one of the few hotels were wifi was great wherever you are! Lovely outside bar area, and the restaurant and food was great and reasonably priced. 18 euro for 2 courses or 22 for 3. Children's menu was 11 euro, bottle of wine 19 euro. What really impressed me about this hotel was the friendlinesses of the staff, they were all so helpful and accommodating. We will be looking to book this again and cannot recommend the hotel highly enough.
Hotel in the middle of Dourdan and opposite of the castle. We had a room for 5 persons and was excellent. Shower was a bit awkward though the water went everywhere (it became very wet). Not our problem! Diner was oke, service can be better!
My partner and I stayed overnight here as a stopover on the way down to The Dordogne. Hotel was fine, we were there during a heatwave and the room was incredibly hot due to a lack of air conditioning. With the widow open there was a lot of noise coming in from what I guess was a party nearby. Would probably avoid eating in the restaurant again, there didn't appear to be a huge choice in Dourdan but I would imagine better food could be found elsewhere.
We stayed here recently for a wedding in France. The hotel is lovely, the staff all very friendly and helpful and food delicious. Dourdan itself is very quaint, pretty cobbled streets a lovely market on a Saturday and gorgeous little patisserie cafes. There is a small supermarket which was reasonably priced. We were very lucky with the weather but the rooms do not have aircon but have huge Windows and fans are available from reception. It is very clean and comfortable with free wifi. All in all we had a great time and would definitely stay there again although maybe in spring or Autumn. We hired a car from Orly airport and the drive to the hotel was under an hour in fact it's probably half hour if you are used to driving in France.
I stopped here for an overnight stay whilst on a business trip. I wished that I could have stayed longer. This is a small, charming hotel with a very "homely" feel to it. The staff were all very friendly and spoke good English. The room was much comfier than I expected and was very nicely done out. At breakfast, I managed to get to the restaurant area just as the concierge was bringing in fresh croissant and baguettes from the nearby bakery. Duodena, itself, also looked like quite an interesting town to look around. It was a shame I could not spend more time there. If you are driving there, be sure to check to see if it is OK to park in the square as there is a market, twice a week, where the square is closed to traffic from early morning.
We are so glad we decided to book at this property. We had booked three days in Tours, but decided that we wanted to be closer to Paris, so looked at Best Western website. We found a few options and this looked the most charming. We were right!!! Very glad we made this change.
We stayed here on our way to the airport, as we were coming from Brittany and had an early flight. It was a good choice. The hotel is clean and comfortable. The staff at the front desk is friendly. The room was a bit cold, though. The restaurant and the breakfast have room for improvement. Anyway, it's a good place to stop near the Orly airport.
Stopped here on the way to Barcelona just by chance but what a find. Would have liked to see more of town but No time , hotel was one of the best I have stayed in , clean and staff very helpful. Had meal in restaurant and was not disappointed
Before booking we had to smile at the review that said "the best hotel ever stayed at in France" but now I have to agree. Everything is perfect. It's now November but I do wonder how hot it will get with no a/c in the summer. Thanks for a great visit.
In my 50 years of experiences with French hotels, this is by far the best hotel I've ever stayed at. Matter of fact, it's the only hotel where literally everything was great, clean and - lo and behold - in working order (even the shower). I could go into details, but It suffices to say this hotel is THE BEST.
We stop off at this hotel as it is South of Paris on our journey to the Dordogne It is a lovely town and the hotel is hidden gem in it We have stayed here many times over the years - but in the last year it has had a face lift and it really is a great place to stay ... The rooms are clean and practical...with nice helpful staff... One tip ....book your dinner when you do your reservation -otherwise like us you wont be able to eat there as the restaurant is popular
