Hotel needs an urgent refurbishment. It looks old and not comparable to other BW plus hotels. Only one elevator which stopped working on the second day. Mattresses were old and could feel the springs. Sheets and towels felt thin and old. Keys got demagnetized four times. On the plus side, staff at reception was very nice, shower had good pressure and the room was very quiet.
As you can see from past reviews, we've stayed here often - it's so convenient to Universal and a good value overall. I can't speak for all the rooms, but ours had several maintenance issues and really needed some love. I tried leaving review as a verified BW member, so others would know it's legit, but their survey link no longer connects to the correct Trip Advisor page, so had to submit this review separately. Pluses: good price on room, includes free breakfast (although noticing more decreased options/quality since 2023). Was quiet - no noise issues. Room was very clean. Issues: we only had 2 nights and a full itinerary, so we just lived w/most of below. We didn't want to lose any valuable vacation time calling down; having maintenance in/out of the room at inconvenient times: 1. Broken Fridge - leaked entire time we were there, wouldn't cool properly 2. Broken safe 3. Misaligned front door - had to really push/pull hard to get it to open or close - frustrating trying to enter/leave the room every time. 4. Low water pressure (but water was definitely hot, so that's a plus!) 5. One of the 3 drawers was stuck - only opened halfway 6. AC was LOUD every time compressor turned off...woke me up several times. Just a head's up to expect some issues, as this location is older. Staff is fairly responsive to fixing - it'll just be on you to ID any issues and call the front desk to request service. I don't think staff did any maintenance checks on our room prior to our arrival.
Room was very clean, and hotel staff very friendly. I forgot the gentleman's name at check in. My fault. I am lousy with names, but he was very helpful and answered all our questions. I would definitely stay here again without hesitation. I felt safe, no weirdos wondering around.
Wet carpet in front of the window, ant in the room and all looks old. Smell in the room not so nice. Fitness is a big world for 4 old machines and swims pool full field with all the terrace furniture. Breakfast without yoghurt after the first morning.
I have to agree, it is close to Universal Studios and it's cheap and the staff are nice and helpful BUT....... Our shower had hair in it when we checked in, not just a strand or two but a bunch. Secondly, we had to go to the front desk for towels as there were only one hand towel and one washcloth. The room is okay, a bit small though. The breakfast is nothing to write home about, very sparse and always the same. Almost every other BW we've stayed in has been much better. They at least need to stock 2% milk, not just 1% and it'd be real nice if they had more than plain off brand Cheerios that tasted like the box and off brand Fruit Loops! I even miss the waffles, they have that lame "pancake" machine, no thank you. Even the coffee is fake, what I mean by that is it's powdered coffee not brewed. I don't care what they think it does NOT taste the same as brewed, it's just cheep and easy for them. If you choose to stay I'd suggest going to Walgreens at the front of the parking lot and buying a half gallon of milk and a decent cereal if that's your breakfast choice. One other thing, there are cameras EVERYWHERE and tacky signs telling you to "smile you're being video recorded" along with a sign telling you not to take food back to your room. What the hell goes on in this place that they need very apparent cameras and signs all over the place. Creepy and big brother(ish) is what I've heard and think myself.
I was looking for a hotel near by Universal Studio Florida and found Best Western. We stayed here twice in Aug 2024 with total 5 nights. The hotel is within 15 mins walk to Universal Studios. Hotel price was very affordable compare to other hotels near by or Resorts. Rooms are ok but it serves our need. Beakfast was good and you get a free Shuttle to Universal Studio everyday at 8AM and return at 5.30PM. There is a number of bars and eating places within a few minutes' walk. Overall very good hotel at affordable price closest to Universal Studio. Highly recommonded.
This was the first of four hotels / resorts we stayed in during a 2-week visit to Orlando. The area appeared a bit rundown, but there was plenty to do and eat nearby and the hotel is within easy driving distance to Universal Studios (8-9 minutes). Free parking at the hotel is a bonus! Lovely staff at the front desk, except for the morning check-in girl — she was always surly and never smiled :( Large clean room, albeit a tad rundown in the common areas — the hallway carpet, however, seems to be very new! We did have some small bugs (ants?) in our room (not sure where they came from), and I always love the BW toiletries! Super quiet overnight — I slept like a baby! However, the beds in our room were suuuuuper small — my hubby and I almost had to sleep in one each! Our shower drain was blocked (and the shower became a bath) — I told reception after our first night and it was fixed almost immediately … very impressed! The shower also had a tendency to flood the bathroom floor if the curtain wasn't pulled across the entire way — heads up! Breakfast was average (as with most BWs), and can get very crowded due to a lack of space. I saw a lot of guests taking their breakfast up to the rooms to eat. Overall, a clean, comfortable stay.
The hotel is within 5-10 mins walk to Universal Studios which is handy, it also has a booking agent onsite for Disney World excursions which are further afield in Orlando. The hotel is quite reasonably priced and offer a good hot or cold breakfast, menu changed daily. My room was a little shabby and needs some maintenance however, it had the essentials, and the bed was clean and comfortable. There is a number of bars and eating places within a few minutes' walk. Parking can get a little crowded
We stayed here exactly a year ago and they were doing extremely loud construction, it seems to still be ongoing. There was also no water for a day which was highly aggravating. For a one night stay it isn't bad but if you feel like sleeping past 9, not having to yell to be heard or taking a shower I'd check out another hotel.
This hotel had everything we needed comfortable clean bed, towels, pool, breakfast. Shuttle to theme parks, ten minute max drive if not using shuttle.
The room was fine. The breakfast was very limited on choices. The price was a little high for what it was.
Lights in room were unplugged with wiring zip tied into a bundle, requiring zip tie to be cut. Bedside alarm clock with built in electrical extension was broken and front desk could not replace Sat am breakfast not served until 7am with NO "to go snack" to eat on the road
This BW hotel is less than two miles from Universal Resort. Good price for the location, and several restaurants, such as Burger King and Hooters, within walking distance.
I've been at this hotel so many times that one can come to the conclusion that I either really like it or I am a bot. One thing I will put in this review that I had not done in the past is give a piece of advice for non pass holders who are going to Universal Studios. Believe it or not it is faster (and cheaper) to walk to the park than it is to drive. The line through security is much quicker because you go in at a different entrance. Subtract the parking fees and staying at this hotel makes it even a bigger bargain.
It was a comfortable and affordable stay. The room was decent and the bathroom was clean. The room had a fridge, microwave, iron, and ironing board. The workers were nice. I got there early because of my flight, and the worker allowed me to sit my bags in her office while I went to eat and wait for a clean room. The next day the breakfast was the normal hotel breakfast which was sufficient to hold me over until I got out. I would stay here again.
The location is great, but this hotel needs renovation and deep cleaning. The staff was helpful and polite. I had 2 rooms, in one we had roaches, in the other the refrigerator did not work. Breakfast was very limited. I was expecting a Best Western hotel with high quality, as all the others I had visited before.
very friendly and helpful staff, every single staff member was over the top friendly. super value , hotel a little tired but very clean
Hotel is 3 star near universal park which is good thing. However you hv to take taxi. Rooms are clean. Breakfast area is small with limited choices. Nearby there r food restaurants like kfc, pizza etc. it was value for money for my family. Reception is good too
Pros - * Price ($501 for a 4 night stay but received a $100 gift card promotion) * Service- great great friendly service. Always greeted upon entry. No language barriers. Quick to fix any issues. Put the tv in English, gave me food delivery advice, provided extra blankets, etc. * Location- within 30 min walking distance to almost everything you'll need: * Walgreens (2 min) * outlet mall (20 min) * food (1-20 min depending on where) * UO/IOA (25 min) * Rooms have a Microwave and large mini fridge- that actually cools * Good water pressure and hot * Travel sized Soap, lotion, conditioner included and mounted on the wall in the shower for use. * Large fluffy towels * Has a shuttle to Universal. Basic charter bus setup. If you have a wheelchair, you'll need to call ahead. No motorized devices authorized. Arrives at 0755 and leaves pretty quickly once boarded. We waited about 3 minutes. Stops at 3 other hotels in the area on the way to the park. We left our hotel at 0759 arrived at the park at 0822. Spot #83 where the other charter bussed pick up. All the way to the end past the universal Orlando resort buses. Arrived to pick us up promptly at 1730. The driver will ask which hotel you came from and only visit those for which he has passengers. We were the second drop off at 1739 * Drink choices. They had juice machine with four options, a coffee machine with 5 (I think) options and a hot beverage machine with about 12 different options. The just “ok” * Thin blankets but they'll give you extras if you ask. * shuttle times - only once at 0755/1730 * Dining seating- cramped, like 10-12 inches between tables once ppl sit. * Breakfast was meh. Staff is friendly and attentive. Basic muffins, sausage, eggs, yogurt bar, toast, pancakes, cereal, fruit, bagels, milk, coffee, and juice. Neg- * Spanish audio tv with English subtitles seemed standard in the rooms * Outdated- table wobbly AF. Drawers on dresser hanging on by a thread * NOT super close to universal as advertised - .5 mile as the crow flies but 1 mile on foot. Took us about 25 minutes at a leisurely pace. * Walls are thin and you hear rushing water every time anyone uses water in adjacent rooms * Old ac units. Smells musty. * The breakfast roach. Although, this was the only one I saw during our 5 days. There is a very large exit door attached to the dining area so it's likely that it came from outside. But still, it was disturbing to have a roach crawl up the wall next to us while we were eating. Notes * Ride share: Uber was between seven and eight dollars in the morning (before tip) and around nine to $11 returning around seven at night. Lyft was a bit cheaper by a dollar or two. Lyft also offers the option to “wait for a cheaper fare.” We opted this on night two and selected wait 15 minutes for a $6 fare. The driver was still there in two minutes. Just a note- ride share pickup is AT THE TOP of the Jurassic Park parking garage and you need to know what color zone your driver parked in. This was very confusing as the garage is not well marked. It says rideshare until you get to Jurassic Park garage and then says nothing to indicate which of the five floors it's on. * If you rent a car, parking is free. Highly recommend this. We rented a car on day two for the remainder of our trip, three more days. It was only $100. If we had rented it from the airport when we arrived, we would've saved a ton of money on Ubers and a ton of time walking around. Highly recommend this if you plan to see stuff in the area outside of universal.
We have stayed here many times. Usually before going to Disney or when I've been in town for business. Hotel is clean, breakfast is good and it's close to literally everything! We often walk to Miller's for delicious food and drinks. Great location!
The room was in poor condition, the air conditioning unit wasn't working and the next morning we woke up and had sugar ants all over our things in the bathroom. We told the front desk the situation and asked for another room on the other side of the hotel but they seemed apathetic, so we checked out and went to another hotel.
20 minutes walk from Universal Studios. Safe neighborhood. Place was clean, friendly staff and good breakfast with a lot of choices, but could be more tables. Big parking lot. Would go back again for sure.
Open the door to your room and instantly notice the closet door is not hanging correctly. No big deal, closet door off its track. In this case the doors and track are at the point of needing replacement. Then notice the shower valve handle is loose. A quick look around and the room just looks beat up. Turn the Air conditioner on and go to dinner. Come back and the room is still not cool. Contact the front desk and a room change is being prepared. Then notice the mold/mildew on the ceiling above the AC. After the room change find the closet and shower valve handle in the same condition. It is a handicap room, so the shower head is placed on a sliding bar that doesn't go near high enough for me. Only thing necessary to fix that problem would have been a longer bar. At check out, I explain what I observed and the condition of the rooms. The response was not, I am sorry ... The response was, Thank you for the information.
The best service, great breakfast, the room is perfect two beds and the counter attendance (receptionist) are really kind person, always looking forward to help. I RECOMMENDED CHARLINE a 100%,………………..
Good budget option within walking distance of Universal, though the walk is a bit far. There is a shuttle available certain times of day. Highlight was the staff as Jimmy at the front desk was extremely helpful to us when my young daughter became ill shortly after reaching the lobby.
We had a very good experience overall. The receptionists at check in and check out were very courteous and helpful. Cleaning staff was excellent. We had the suite and the room was spacious and clean and we got good rest after being in the parks all day.
Best Western plus in Orlando Florida was incredible ! It's very clean , smelled really nice. Julian at the front desk was very helpful. He knew I had kids so he gave us the first level which was very convenient for me. It's close to everywhere and we get a free shuttle to Disney World! I would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends! And we're gonna keep coming back to this hotel .
The rooms were smelly and the carpet was old. There were guests partying in the hallways at 3 AM and we had to call the front desk for help. The most uncomfortable beds, the breakfast was just okay. My family will not be returning ever.
I enjoyed the stay and the front desk took care of my needs. Nice & clean room. I would stay again, there are no views, you're getting a nice room and good service for the price. Decent breakfast so you get a move on your day
The checkin/out process was easy. Front desk attendant was welcoming, friendly and efficient. The room was clean and smelled nice. Bed was very comfortable. Bathroom was clean, water pressure and temperature was perfect. Breakfast area was clean and tidy. There was a nice variety of both hot and cold breakfast options all of which were well stocked. The coffee was perfect.
Absolute amazing hotel!! Thank you to Maria from HK (cleaning 101 6/3-6/6 SUPERIOR & amongst all always having a smile on her face), Anna from FD (for your helpfulness and kindness) and Andy the GM for the outstanding tips on where to go in Orlando (do visit Winterpark!). Also thank you to the FD associate who checked us in and gave us the best, quiet room on first floor as requested, thank you so much!! The hotel itself is kept clean and neat in all areas. We haven't experienced another BW yet that is this clean, also in hidden spots-kudos to HK and Management. Breakfast had hot sausages, eggs, even honey bags, juices..just awesome. Keep it up!! Book your rooms here-you won't regret it.
Love this hotel, location is great and front desk is super attentive. I read the reviews and don't understand how people want to pay $100/night and still expect Hilton standards?!?!??! If you're on a budget this hotel is perfect. everything you need with a great price. If you want perfection, then pay 3x more and go somewhere else. I will definitely come back!
What I really liked: this hotel is laid back - very quiet and cozy. The outdoor pool was so lovely - shady in the afternoon. Staff were friendly and room was clean. There was a nice laundry room, which was a priority in my hotel seeking. The location was good - a Walgreens 3 mins walk away and plenty of restaurants nearby. What I didn't like: the room was on the small side - might not be a problem if you just come back for sleep. The furnitures were kind of old and so was the mattress I guess.
Made a family trip for a night. Mostly nice, but beds were hard and there was mold in the bathroom, hair on the shower curtain that wasn't ours. Breakfast was okay for our family, they were on top of keeping it fresh!
Do not be fooled by that 8.4 rating. If you like hotel wide odors and zero security in a shady area, this is the place for you. This is the worst Best Western Plus we have ever stayed at. The hotel smelled everywhere. The room was dirty and disgusting. We were only there a night but we checked out asap in the morning. No way were we touching that breakfast. It was just in awful condition. I didn't feel safe as there was no security. No lock on the front doors or keyed access and the staff hung out in the back. We were approached by someone in the lobby that was clearly not staying there and we felt uneasy the rest of the night.
Though an older hotel, clean and exceptional staff. Walking distance to Universal. Nice breakfast. Perfect for a budget vacation to access Universal Studios. I was able to drop off my luggage then walk over to park for the day before checking in.
When I first arrived, I waited for at least 5 minutes while the front desk attendant and another staff member completed their jovial conversation..neither which acknowledged my presence until after they were finished speaking. The room was subpar with yellow staining on the ceiling and walls, broken bathroom door handle, and part of the wall missing in the bathroom by the tub. The tub wall was not very clean and had mildew on it..and had been caulked to death with repairs. Pancake machine was down and not a very large selection for breakfast. Only gave 3 stars for its very close proximity to Universal.
The hotel was more expensive per night than the ones in Destin, Florida and Ocean City, MS. I didn't visit Univeral or Disney this time as I was visiting family. The room was ok for the stay but not more than that. I know people come for the trip and not the rooms but I think it's time for an upgrade. Front desk was a “good egg”.
I stay at this location at least a few times per year, since I'm a big universal orlando fan. The quality has varied from trip to trip - last time in Feb was fantastic. This time, it was ok. Nothing that bad, just noticed a definite decline in breakfast quality and offerings and a few operational issues in the room (lukewarm vs hot water, very low shower pressure, noisy ac compressor that kept me up). I was only staying 1 night this time and didn't want the hassle of going down to front desk, changing rooms, etc, so just let it go. Again, nothing that serious- just not as good as my last stay. I will say the room itself was very clean, checkin was on time as promised and overall, the rate they charge is a pretty good value for the area. Tip: if you're a light sleepr, ask for a room with a newer or recently serviced AC. Some of their older rooms have compressors that are quite loud when they turn on/off.
It was my first time staying here and I was very impressed! Room was clean, staff was friendly & helpful, and the location across the street from Universal Orlando is amazing. I'd stay here again without hesitation!
We just stopped and checked in, with no reservation and they had a room. The room was clean, and the staff was nice. The shower was weird you had two knobs to turn to get the shower to work. One for the water and one for the shower. It was just weird had never seen that before in my life. The pool was on the small side. The breakfast was eggs, pancakes, sausage, toast, bagels, muffins, fruit and cereal. I would stay there again.
I stay at this hotel every time I am in Orlando. It is clear that I think well of this establishment as I stayed here 3 times in the past year. If anybody from management is reading this, please check the television in room 113 as well as the shower. Neither of these two items by the way is bad enough to delete a star or deter me from future visits.
As a family of 6 traveling on a budget, this hotel is perfect. The room was clean, breakfast was hot (eggs, sausage, toast, pancakes, etc), it's walking distance from Universal Studios but there is a shuttle to/from the park. I had minimal interaction with the staff, but the interaction I did have was positive. The only critique I have is that the shuttle tends to run 10-15 minutes earlier than they say it does.
We have been staying here for years and loved it. We just stayed for 3 nights. Amenities and staff were good, as usual, but there seems to be a problem with dampness in the rooms, which could lead to mold. Our room was musty and our sheets and clothing were damp the whole time. Our neighbor complained of the same issue. We will not return until we know the issue has been resolved.
My 1st and last stay at this hotel. Tub faucet was loose making it difficult to turn on and off water for shower. A/C unit smelt musty and half of my family ended up with respiratory issues (sneezing, coughing, stuffy/stopped up nose) after 1 night in the room making them feel crappy our entire trip, creepy guy in room next door sitting in his window with all the lights out either videoing guests coming into the hotel or getting remote codes on cars so they can open the cars. I have no ides but he was sitting there with a device with a red light. Parking can be difficult as the hotel shares a parking lot with 2 restaurants and another hotel. Parking on the side feels unsecure as semi-trucks park in the grass behind the hotel overnight.Lady bug in the room and an unidentifiable bug in the bathroom on our last stay. I travel to Orlando several times a year and typically stay in the Disney Springs area but was visiting Universal so wanted a closer hotel. I will go back to the hotels in Disney Springs (Hilton, Doubletree, Hyatt Place) and do the longer drive to Universal instead of staying here.
I reviewed this hotel before so I will keep this simple. This is an awesome hotel for the price. If you are interested in the breakfast buffet, it is a good idea to get there when it is first offered as seating is limited. Rooms are clean and not much noise around.
We stay at this location because of the proximity to the park. It is a 15-20 minute walk to the entrance of Universal. The price is so reasonable we are able to visit Florida several times a year and not break the bank. The staff is super friendly and very helpful. The rooms are good size and always clean. Highly recommend this hotel if you want to stay off site.
We chose this hotel due to distance to Universal studios and breakfast option. It is just a short walk, about 15 minutes to the amusement park. They do have a shuttle if you prefer. The Miller's Ale house next door was great for our first night arrival or they have a Japanese restaurant too next door. We had no problems there. Room was clean, staff pleasant. We didn't have any time to check out the pool or fitness room. But LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION! Plus it was cheap!! We'll be staying there again!
Great place to stay. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Needed a crib to let grandson take nap and they were very accommodating. Room was clean and bed was very comfortable. The Breakfast had a good variety from pancakes, eggs and sausage to yogurt and cereals.
PROs: Hotel clean 24-7 Coffee Cons: Pool but no spa Microwave was not plugged into outlet - cord was too short - had to physically move it to another location No travel breakfast available - breakfast not served until 7:00am
Could not check in at check in time because there was no staff in the building. The employee who finally reported to work was efficient and friendly. We could not seem to get anyone to bring us shampoo though. Asked at check in and also asked maid service.
Was a little concerned about current reviews leading up to our stay but everything was good. Everything was clean. Nothing broken in our room. The carpet in the room was clean and not worn. No ants! Every hotel we've stayed in Florida the past year, there was ants in the room. Usually on the sink counter. Basic breakfast but it'll definitely save you a few bucks. There's 2 restaurants and a 24 hour Walgreens in the same parking lot. Which is very beneficial. If you're looking for saunas, room service and valet. That's not here. The days of $99 a night rooms have now become $150 a night rooms. It's the same no frills stay just cost more. Paying $400+ a night just for a place to sleep n shower is not ideal for me. Orlando is a tourist town. You're not there to shelter in place.
Great place to stay. All staff members were friendly and it is located near Universal Studios. There is plenty of parking spaces, I will be back soon. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to take their family to Dysney World. Not bad at all.
Far too many other hotels in the area to be considered before even looking at this one. Mattresses should be replaced, pillows are thin as rags, carpets are 40 years old and disgusting, bath tub paint is pealing off, the Safe didn't work, breakfasts area is inadequate and food is bearable for one day only.... This hotel should be gutted and brought back from the dead!!!!
This hotel has a great location if you want to walk to Universal Studios (20 minutes) which is much more relaxing than driving and parking. It is also only 5 minutes from the Outlet Malls and there are good chain restaurants in the area. It is not a scenic or pretty property, just pavement and busy roads. The pool was clean but freezing. The rooms are nothing special, but it is nice to have a frig and a microwave. The worst was the air conditioning compressor which was so loud it woke us up several times in the night. The dresser drawers were horribly frustrating to open and close. The shower did not have great pressure and was not hot enough. The internet disconnected constantly. The tv channels were ok but why not put in smart TVs and let people use their own streaming networks. The breakfast was very limited, only cornflakes or fruit loops. There were apples and oranges but you had to ask for a banana. The muffins were not good, but the pancakes were good. For some reason I was charged $20 more than my confirmation email price and the staff at check-in said I'd have to call Corporate to fix that, which is not a huge amount but annoying. Nice easy free parking lot. If I went to Universal again I'd stay at one of the newer neighbouring hotels for sure. This was quite inexpensive so overall I can't rate it too low. I guess you get what you pay for.
Not up to Plus standards. Finish coming off bath tub bottom, exposed crack in bathroom wall. Charged a resort fee which was not disclosed in advertisement, fee was small. Made a copy of drivers license which should be a no no in this age of identity theft. NO reason at all for this. Hall carpet felt like it was not put down correctly, lumpy.
I must say that this hotel exceeded my expectations. It was quiet with virtually no road noise, the breakfast was hot and fresh with a nice selection of fresh fruit. The rooms were a little dates but they were clean and the house keeping crew was very accommodating and friendly. Very nice and helpful front desk as well. I would definitely stay here again.
Even though we liked its location, this hotel was a disappointment, because it basically lacks the Plus you would expect such as nice clean sheets, good breakfast, and less dated furniture. Covid protocol in the breakfast room was sadly missing. Friendly young staff at the front desk were helpful, but cannot make up for the badly needed update of this property.
The staff at this hotel is professional and very courteous. It's clear they are doing their best with what they have to work with - which isn't much. We had requested two rooms on the same floor - adjacent or as close as possible. When we checked in, we were given exactly what we requested, only to find that another party had been given one of our rooms - and we found out because we opened the door to the room and found people already occupying it. We had to move one room to a different floor. When we arrived in our new room, the door key card reader was malfunctioning. It took 3-4 tries for every attempt to open the door. The door also stuck when trying to open, so it took a good shove. Also had to push it shut behind us. Did not feel totally confident in its safety. We then discovered a red stain on the bedspread - looked like blood. Took it down to the front desk and turned it in. Was given a roll of bed sheets to replace it. Lobby is nicely cleaned and renovated, but the guest rooms and hallway are musty and dimly lit. There is an odor which tells me they are cleaning, but using products to try and mask the mustiness of an older property or possibly mold. I think the HVAC needs better filtration or a replacement. The bathtubs in both our rooms had chipping enamel on the bottom. The carpet and mattresses are most likely in need of replacement, and the whole property seems to be in need of a complete overhaul. It's showing its age. All in all, the location is amazing and the staff are doing their utmost, but that only goes so far when you are staying at a hotel - the accommodations, even if budget conscious and basic, should be clean, habitable, and up to standard. People work hard for their leisure time and this hotel should be much better than it actually is. (This review is an attempt to be somewhat constructive - I don't like leaving negative reviews without an actual suggestion as to the specific problem and how to solve it.)
Our room was run down, sink drained slow, and bathtub coating was peeling and showing through. The breakfast area was small, crowded and the food wasn't very good apart from the pancakes. We had to ask for cleaning, which is ludicrous. The sofa fold out springs were poking through the mattress. BW corporate needs to work on getting rooms in working order. The staff were GREAT, though. No customer service issues at all. Very helpful and kind.
I've given reviews for this property in the past. I've always given good reviews and this one is no different. I will have to say this visit was better than most because there were not so many people in the dining area for breakfast thus better seating.
This is the best Best Western hotel I have stayed at. I have stayed at many Best Western hotels during my travels and this one beats them all. The staff is friendly, welcoming and professional. The lobby and rooms are well appointed and very comfortable.
Rooms are small, hotel building is old. Staff was attentive and very helpful. Location wise good. But expected much better facilities from a plus category hotel, was little disappointed there. Didn't opt for the shuttle service to Disneyland.
I booked this hotel based on the ratings and the proximity to Universal Orlando. It is literally right across the street. The things I liked about the hotel are the location and the friendly staff. The room was okay and clean when we arrived. The bed is comfortable and there is a small fridge and microwave in the room. They also have a service desk where you can book tickets to area attractions. They do provide breakfast daily but it is the same items everyday, eggs, sausage links, and the usual continental breakfast items. The majority of places that I have stayed that provided breakfast switch it up everyday. They do provide a shuttle to Universal but it leaves at 8:30 am and picks up at 5:30 pm. What I did not like is that I put a notice on the door to have my room cleaned while I was gone to Universal. We left our room at 8:00 am and did not come back until 8 pm. The room had not been cleaned and I called the front desk and they said sorry but could really do nothing to rectify the problem.
This is within walking distance of Universal, took us 15-20 minutes depending on traffic to walk there for horror nights on several occasions. Staff was extremely friendly and hotel was clean. Bathrooms need to be upgraded but everything else in the room worked well and was clean. The fitness center A/C did not work which was disappointing and the lifting equipment was not great but usable. Breakfast was good but if you are staying for an extended period of time just know its the exact same options everyday. I would recommend staying here again and will myself next I visit Florida. Again the staff and cleanliness were great, Thank you!
We are family of 5, 2 adults and 3 kids, taking option of 2 queens bed with sofa cum bed and we have comfortable stay of 4 nights. Microwave and fridge also available in the room. 24 hours coffee available in the common room of the hotel. (If they could add drinking water in the common room then I should give rating as Excellent),good breakfast, kids enjoy fresh pancakes. Good location, used UBER , close to adventure park and outlet mall. Although there is free shuttle but we used UBER which is not costly for Adventure park. While coming back from adventure park, don't go for UBER , just go for available taxi. Walgreen is on walking distance, you could have day to day grocery from there. Washing machine and dryer also available but you need to pay through your credit card
I have stayed at many places in the Orlando area and this was definitely not great. Looks like old facility. Old sheets, beds not comfortable. Hotel room doors are metal large doors, carpets not cleaned.
Our window fell in when the door shut and we weren't moved rooms or compensated in any way. We were on the first floor too so we felt unsafe as well during our stay. I booked the room for two nights and we left after the one. There were also ants throughout the room. The staff were polite though.
This hotel is ok to stay in overnight. I personally would not stay longer then 1 night because the beds were a bit uncomfortable and the room had a smell to it that we didn't like. Also the tub wasn't the cleanest and the soap, shampoo ect was not new
I booked this last minute. It was a little hard to find because the sign is AFTER the entrance and I drove past the entrance before I realized I was there. Other than that the check in was swift and efficient. The luggage carriers were right at the front desk, which made it easy to bring my stuff up to the room. The room had a fridge, but not a microwave. There was a microwave in the lobby where they served breakfast, if I needed one. The wi-fi worked well. The room was clean and convenient to everything. It is right down the street from International Drive and highway access was convenient. The breakfast was good and there was plenty of food for all the guests to enjoy their fair share. Overall a very good experience. I would stay there again when I return to the area!
This was a last min reservation but it was a good one. The staff was friendly, we had breakfast every morning. Price was reasonable, we would use it again. We know COVID-19 put this in different things but staff helped with everything they could.
I needed a room to stay overnight which is next to the turn pike. This hotel was very nicely situated next to both I-4, and the Turnpike. Also tons of restaurants next to it within walking distance. Excellent.
When we arrived they couldn't find the information pricing that is already paid prior to arriving and once checked in I was informed by the staff at the front desk that if is like to have the room cleaned is have to request it. You have to get your own towels etc by request. The chair in the room has disgusting stains on it. It D not at all what I existed while planning the trip for my husband's birthday. It was a Huge disappointment!!! Don't even try the wifi either. Good luck with that.
This hotel is a great place and very clean. The staff is friendly and the location is nearby walking distance to restaurants. The hotel has a large breakfast area, but due to the pandemic it could not be utilized. Staff is multilingual. The room was clean and well kept.
We went for a short vacation, to get away from everything. Had a very enjoyable time with shopping and just getting in pool. Very relaxing time, wasn't ready to come home. Everything and everyone went above expectations to make our stay memorable. Ready to go back.
Very nice hotel that's not hard on your wallet if you use AAA discount compared to other hotels in the area. I stayed 8 nights with my husband and daughter while we did some fun things in the Orlando area, as well as visit the beach. 4/5 rating is due to the fact the hotel serves the same sausage and eggs for breakfast everyday. If they switched it up by the day, and offered bacon or biscuits and gravy in place of overcooked sausage links at least every other day I would've rated 5/5. Outside of the breakfast I can't say anything bad about the hotel. Oh I almost forgot, but if you want housekeeping to clean your room you have to call the front desk in the morning to let them know.
Don't expect this hotel to wow your socks off, but that doesn't mean its a bad hotel. Its affordable, and super close to Universal. Staff was friendly, everything was clean/working. I've stayed in a lot of hotels for work in the past, and I can say that this was exactly as I expected for the price. Nothing was grand or amazing, basic beds, basic TV, chairs, lobby décor, etc, but I wasn't expecting that either. I feel like I got my moneys worth. Jay, the manager, was super friendly and interactive on checkin, can honestly say I've never had an employee in my life that legitimately made me feel welcomed and happy to be there.
This hotel was satisfactory for a trip to Universal Studios. The rooms were clean and standard, even though they were a little noisy from the hallway. The biggest downside was that the website stated that it had a free shuttle to Universal and I found out the day before that they were no longer offering it. We walked to and from Universal every day to save money on Ubers. I just wish I would have known in advance. Overall, this was a reasonable price to pay for the quality and proximity to Universal.
If you are traveling to Florida to go to the theme parks, in particular Universal Studios, this hotel is the place to be. It's centrally located by the theme parks (and within walking distance to Universal). We spent three nights here and walked to Universal every day, sometimes twice a day. It's website boasts a shuttle service, but that is not running right now because of the pandemic. There is a grab and go breakfast option included with the room and complementary, good quality coffee available in the lobby 24/7. The rooms were decent for the price, the appliances were just a bit loud. While we were at the parks, we put the room service tag on our door, but no one ever came to tidy up the room. This didn't bother us too much as we weren't staying too long, but it would get annoying were we staying longer. Overall, you can't beat the location or the price!
Decent hotel approximately 5 minutes from Universal Studios. Spacious, clean rooms. Area felt safe with plenty of restaurant options within walking distance. Wifi connection was spotty for us. Website said room included breakfast but there was no breakfast (not even a "to-go" option). Had a very early morning check-out for our early morning flight but was told we could not get a receipt upon check out that early in the morning. I always like to get a receipt at check out to verify I didn't incur any erroneous charges.
For a budget price, this hotel gets a five, Not only was it clean, but updated, had a friendy staff, and was roomy. The TV worked fine. There was a refrigerator, coffee maker, bathtub ( as opposed to just a shower). The breakfast was in a brown sack because of Covid-19, butthe coffee and juices were good.
I had a reservation for Friday May 14-Sunday May 16. I was in town only for my graduation. We checked in at 1 am Saturday May 15. We slept for a few hours and when we woke up my son was itchy and had hives all over. He has allergies so I assumed he was having a flare and gave him allergy medicine, a shower and then we got ready for my graduation that day. We arrived back to the hotel for the night around 10 pm. We woke up at 4 am to again blotchy hives all over his body, except this time when we removed his blanket we saw multiple BED BUGS. We immediately put all of our things in plastic bags that thankfully we had from going to CVS earlier in the day. We then immediately checked out. Upon checkout the man told me to just put the keys in a little box and that was it. I told him what happened, in which he asked “Why did I not notice this before, and how did I know this came from them?” Are you kidding me?! I would know it didn't come from me because HELLO that's not something you just don't know you have. I would know if my house had something like that since it causes a severe and immediate itchy rash. I'm a medical professional and was here just for a make up graduation (I graduated last year). To be on the front lines of the pandemic for a year and be treated like this is BEYOND ME. The guy wouldn't give me a refund of anything. I contacted customer service, let's see where they gets me but avoid this place at all costs. We were in room 222 & 224. I took video of it crawling around and pics of my sons body. I would give 0 stars if possible.
Great hotel. Restaurants, a gift shop, and walgreens is within walking distance. Universal theme parks are a few minutes drive or about 20 minutes walk. Ride sharing is accessible, pool is clean, fitness room is accessible 24-7
We stayed at this hotel because our flight was getting in late at night and it wasn't worth it to spend $400 at the Hard Rock for that night (we stayed at HR for the rest of our vacation.) For $70, this was perfect for what we needed. The hotel itself was updated in the lobby, but the rooms are definitely showing their age. Our room was clean upon first look, but there were stains on the rug/chairs/couch...I used my Lysol wipes. To be honest this room was larger than our room at HR! You can see my photos...but we had a regular 2 queen bedroom. The room does show some wear, but again for $70, it was good for what we needed. I would not have wanted to stay for a week. I believe they offer free shuttle to parks...we took an uber to the HR. Due to Covid, the breakfast is given to you in a bag. It's a banana, applesauce, and a dry cake. They do let you get coffee/juice. Not sure how long that will last. Staff was nice.
I stayed at the best western by universal for a few days with my family, it's close enough to walk to the park, the rooms were clean and well maintained, they had a to go bag for breakfast due to Corona virus but we were told they will bring the normal breakfast soon, the personal was super nice during our stay except for the last night, On Sunday we hear someone yelling and arguing we thought it was another guest having an argument with someone else, so we were going to call the front office but to our surprise it was one the of employees yelling and saying profanities to another coworker, I can not tell where she was from but omg she had the dirtiest mouth and she did not stop the whole morning, I felt bad for the other employee she did not say a word back to her, I really hope this does not go unnoticed because it's abuse and it does not look good on the hotel to have an employee just cursing in the hallway, we were planning on staying another day but we were woken up by all the screaming and cursing out and our kids heard all of it so we just decided to leave that day, I hope this message gets to management and something gets done about this horrible situation.
1. Front desk was pleasant 2. Hotel was clean 3. No hair dryer 4. Room was NOT across the street from Universal Studios as stated, it was about a mile up the road 5. room smelled like pot 6. The bagged breakfast was not kid friendly (adult either) (some nasty muffin and an apple sauce) - McDonalds is about three blocks up the road 7. next door to Golden Coral, a steak house and Walgreens 8. We did not get the wake up call we asked for, so glad we set phone alarm
Inside the room there's a average-sized microwave, a larger mini-fridge, one cup coffee maker and a large flat-screen TV. Next to the bed is a clock radio and a large phone. There's two outlet plugs on the lamp. In the bathroom there's a large shower and small tub combo. There's a extra large mirror over a large counter top sink. It's a large room with two comfortable beds with lots of pillows. Due to covid-19, breakfast is in take-out bags. No hot food. But coffee is available 24hrs.
The hotel is really close to Universal Studios so we thought perfect location. I did see the reviews but thought maybe not everyone will have the same experience. We booked 2 rooms for 3 nights. One room AC was not cooling enough or stayed on we had to have it on fan mode. The second room while my 11 yr old nephew was in the shower, the shower head fell on him. We called about it, they were telling me they were completely booked and could not move us to another room. I was not asking to change rooms I was calling them about the shower head. We left to Universal and came back to no shower head. I called again about it and again they mention that they could not move us. I only wanted them to fix it so we could take showers! They came to fix it the last night there but they basically just put another shower head that didn't go there and put tape on it. Glad we left next day! Breakfast was just a grab and go bag, there's no shuttle bus to take you to Universal. You have to request housekeeping in advance. I am glad I took my Clorox wipes and Febreze.
Dirty! Disgusting! Falling apart! We stayed here for 2 nights and left as soon as we got up the last day. Not even kidding. We woke up at 7:30 and were out of there by 8am. We would have left sooner, but the room was non refundable. -No one, not even the staff were wearing masks. Not one person. -They told us that breakfast started at 8am, at 9am all they had was OJ and coffee -The carpets were “damp” -There was mold in the shower -The top of the window was falling down -The mattress was dirty -Asked them to clean the room because our son has asthma and they said they clean the rooms every 4 days -Room was dusty and not cleaned prior to us checking in -We we're going to Volcano Bay and we asked them if we could bring towels from the hotel, they said for $25 per towel. What?!?! I will never stay here again. Ever!
I try to stay at the location every chance I get, not just because it's within walking distance of Universal Orlando Resort but because the staff is always very welcoming and personable and makes me feel like family when visiting.
Everything was excellent... room was clean..service was excellent...and in a great area. Would recommend staying here and we will return in the future and tell all out friends how great this experience was
We Arrived at 8:30 pm To check In and the Temperature was dropping in the Region. It was 49 Degrees with a heavy wind which felt like 21 Degrees. We Checked into Our room only to Find that the Heat was not working. Contacted Front Desk and they came up to inspect the unit. They Offered a space heater which we never received. The Only reason we wouldn't check room was that we have already sanities the Room for comfort (We do This in Every Hotel due to Covid-19) . The only thing we was able to do was sleep and Get back on the roam in the am. (CDL Driver)
There is no hot breakfast or shuttle it universal studios— so beware of that. False advertising. Found pubic hair in a towel that was supposed to be clean. Vending machines in stocked with expired item I got. Was quiet and seemed pretty clean despite that finding. No blow dryer. Tiny pillows. Wont stay again unfortunately.
Hotel was clean, right across the street from universal. Walgreens and Japanese steak house in the same paking lot. But the hotels ac caught on fire and woke everyone up at 4 am which kinda shocked our day.
They did not clean my room or provide toiletries or clean towels. I had to go to front desk on 2 occasions to get. They also did not provide opportunity to speak to mgr. Do not stay here there are plenty of other hotels nearby that probably care more.
The staff was very nice and helpful, the property was very clean , nice bedding, but the breakfast was an apple and a little muffin, and the coffee watery. Overall , it's a good choice for the price I paid for.
Hotel was fine but nothing to write home about. Beds were not queen size even though they are advertised as such. Breakfast is a muffin and apple in a sack with nothing to drink. But what do expect for $50 a night.
This staff is always so nice and remembers me and can tell it's me even while wearing a mask. They truly make you feel like family and that you matter hence why I stay here just about every trip to the area.
This hotel is right across the street from Universal theme park and City Walk. It is walking distance to restaurants that share the same parking lot. Easy to find as it is right off of the I-4. Downside, no pool.
We loved the location of the hotel with several fast food and family dining restaurants so close. Plenty of parking available. Rooms are clean with fantastic sound barrier allowing peace and quiet.. Staff is extremely friendly! Can't wait to visit again.
This hotel is a great place and very clean. The staff is friendly and the location is nearby walking distance to restaurants. The hotel has a large breakfast area, but due to the pandemic it could not be utilized. Staff is multilingual.
1 night stay; 2 queen beds; room 305. Reasonably quiet. Room was in good condition. Very convenient to Universal. 8 minutes to the gate. Beds were comfortable and room was clean. Only negative: bathroom had 2 bath towels and 2 wash cloths. No hand towels for the sink. Insufficient for 2 adults. Breakfast was nothing but a bag with a tiny muffin and an apple. Compared to other BW recently, that was chintzy. But the price is reasonable, so it can be forgiven. And, they are oversanitizing. Hallways stank from the chemicals.
I booked this hotel through Priceline for is low price and close proximity to Universal Orlando. We live in Florida but the park is a bit outside our driving distance so we attempted to make a weekend out of it. For the location alone, it's great for a short trip. However, there's a ton of other hotels within walking distance that I'm sure are clean, offer better customer service and more amenities (there's currently no shuttle or continental breakfast). We stayed on the third floor, which is not a problem but there was a mold stain on the ceiling. I disregarded that until I sat down on the bed closest to the window and noticed these disgusting stains on the curtain. I lost my appetite for the pizza we grabbed so I went down to address the front desk. The representative said there were multiple rooms available and even asked if I wanted a different floor. She stated she will check the stains out and pass a note on to management who will be in the next day. I didn't want to move my kids and I even asked if they could take the curtain down. Nope. We moved to another room down the hall. My biggest issue with this is that I had to take my kids (who were dressed for bed, comfortable, and asleep at this point) out of the room and move them. They had trouble falling back asleep and it carried over to the next day since we had to get up early for Universal. The whole night was a wash. This morning I walked down to the lobby at 7 to talk to a manager. I was looking to possibly get a discount for another night or a refund for the first since we went through so much trouble and lost valuable time in the park. I spoke with a “night auditor” who advised me management would not be in today as I was previously told. I wouldn't even be writing a review if it weren't for this disrespectful staff member. I told him what happened and explained the situation. He said he would only give me a refund if I stayed somewhere else. I said that was ridiculous because would be paying for another room either way. I told him we had to move all our stuff to another room after it was already late and none of this would've happened had the room be cleaned properly, especially during Covid. He said there's nothing to offer us and they already took care of the issue. He then asked if I told the previous employee at the front desk that it was ridiculous. I didn't understand the reason for that question to which he says “You've said the word ridiculous ten times in this conversation.” I only said it twice but moving on. I told him people would be disgusted at these photos on TripAdvisor. He looked at me and had the audacity to say “You slander hotels, sir?” Excuse me??? He rephrased with “You threaten hotels to get free rooms?” I responded by telling him people don't want to stay in a stain filled room and I was a fool for even considering wasting another cent, discount or not. He said plenty of people stay at the hotel, and that it was booked full the previous night. Then how did I get into another room?!? Impossible, because I was even offered to move to another floor!!! This man was ranting at me from the front desk even after I walked away. I called later to speak with someone else, and was told the stain is not anything to worry about but they are unsure of what it is. I'll never give Best Western another dime.
I will never stay with Best Western again because of how DIRTY this hotel was, the beds were dirty, the bathroom was disgusting (there was even a lizard on the bathroom wall). The room had a nasty smell. There were people screaming outside out window. The air conditioner was EXTREMELY loud. We checked in at 11:30pm and got dropped off from a Lyft. If it wasn't so late we would have NEVER stayed even one night, absolutely Nasty Nasty NASTY place!
False advertisement . Claimed free breakfast and shuttle. Number of small but annoying issues. handling of stollen property complaint absolutely inadequate, rude and arrogant. Lack of emphaty and hospitality rarely seen in this industry especially not expected to see during this time. Patio, pool and lobby filthy. I would never recommend anyone to stay in this hotel. According to staff there are no security cameras so safety is a BIGconcern.
The rooms have an excellent price in relation to the location. It is located a few meters from Universal Studios so you can take the hotel transport or go on foot to enjoy the avenues of Orlando. The hotel offers clean, spacious and comfortable rooms. 100% recommended!!!
Needed a room last minute and the staff was amazing to help us get into a room. They had great customer service and very clean. Will definitely be visiting again and do recommend this hotel for future lookers.
This hotel is a bargain with great value gor money. The location is great if you are planning to visit Universal. The hotel is kept clean and rooms were spacious and tidy. The hotel offers free breakfast with good quality.
Needed a placed to stay for an impromptu trip to Universal Studios. Chose this place because of it's location and price. We typically stay at Best Western hotels, so our expectations were that this stay would be no different. While overall, our stay wasn't bad, a few things definitely negatively stood out about this location. To start with the positives, the location was close to the theme parks, less than a 5 minute drive. It's located across the street from one of our favorite restaurants in Orlando, Soupa Saiyan. The check in process was easy. The room was average and bit muggy when arriving, but quickly cooled off once the thermostat was adjusted. The bed was very comfortable and we were able to get a good night's sleep. Some negatives, the first thing we noticed when arriving were signs posted stating that the hotel would not be serving their advertised continental breakfast nor would they be providing shuttle services to the theme parks. This was not a big deal for us, but for other customers who possibly chose their location based on these amenities, this could present a problem. I recalled seeing these services advertised as available when I made our reservations. I would suggest that they provide potential customers with accurate information before they book with their hotel. There is only one elevator and we were a bit unclear as to whether or not it worked. The light on the elevator button does not work, so after pushing it and standing for about 3 minutes we began to look for the stairs. As we got halfway down the hall, we heard the doors open. The elevator does work, it just takes a while. We'd decided to take a swim in their pool, which was average. The patio area and pool could definitely use some TLC. There were spider webs and ants all over the patio furniture. And the deck could use a good power washing. The pool itself had a lot of things floating throughout it, mostly leaves. Before going to the pool, we showered and as there were only two sets of towels, I decided to call down to the front desk and ask for two additional large towels, as we did not want to use the same towels for the pool. We attempted to use the phone located in the room but it was not connected to a phone jack, and we were unable to locate one in the room. Using my cell phone, I called the front desk and asked for the towels, the attendant immediately asked if we had towels in our room. I said yes, but would like two additional large towels. She then proceeded to ask me why. I was taken aback by this, because this has never been asked of me when staying at a hotel. If I ask for more towels, I usually get more towels. Nonetheless, I answered her question and explained that we'd like to go to the pool and do not wish to use the same towels. She then stated that there are towels at the pool and hung up. I was shocked, so much for hospitality. Finally, upon checking in, I'd inquired about contactless checkout, as this has been my experience at other Best Western Hotels. I was pointed to a clear box sitting on the front desk, and told to return our keys there. We were leaving pretty early, around 3am, so I called down to the front desk and asked for a receipt, and was told to stop at the desk to pick it up. When leaving, I did just that. The front desk attendant handed me a receipt, in which I only looked at the charges and verified the amounts. We proceeded to pack our vehicle and leave. It was at this time that the front desk attendant ran outside and stated she made a mistake and gave me the wrong receipt. A honest mistake on her part. I too should have looked at the name. But again, something I've never experienced when staying at this hotel chain. I encourage any future customers to thoroughly check all receipts just to be on the safe side. Overall, our stay was not bad, just a lot of unexpected annoyances. I've utilized Best Western hotels frequently enough to know that this particular hotel isn't up to their standards. I will not be staying here again.
We were planned a 4D 3N stay the price was low, there was a Universal shuttle, and Free Breakfast to boot. Arrived our 1st night the front desk lady informed me after I had given her my credit card and signed the paperwork that there was no breakfast and no shuttle. She said no breakfast or shuttle was due to CoVid-190 and no other hotels were having breakfast or shuttle said an Uber was approx. $10. To take us to Universal Studios. Went to our room it was ok; not at all Best Western status I had visited before. I wanted to leave immediately, but my child was so excited, and we had company coming to meet us so we stayed. I was uneasy the whole time. The next morning we saw a universal shuttle at the next hotel. The driver said we shuttle for many hotels in the area, except for Best Western, he took pity on us and let us on. Other people on the bus said their hotels had breakfast but everything was a la cart because of Covid-19. I booked another hotel while we were at Universal. I knew I would be charged for two night which was not a problem. At checkout, the clerk gave me Major Attitude, because other parties had been upset about being charged for two night. What does that have to do with me! She lied and had given me attitude I did not deserve. I wish I trusted my initial feelings and leave as soon as I got there.
I recently spent two consecutive nights, at this Best Western Plus. I found the employees to be friendly, as well as helpful. The rooms are quite comfortable and clean. The hotel seems to have a safe inside environment, as well as location. In addition, it is located very close to Universal Studios. However, other hotels meet this same criteria. With the abovementioned said, I will now address the areas of my dissatisfaction. I agree with the writers who shared comments regarding the lack of breakfast. Everything I read suggested a modified breakfast would be served. I was quite surprised to learn, after check-in, that no type of modified breakfast would be available. Coffee is, however, available 24 hours. The problem with that was, they ran out of creamer. I would expect all associated condiments and utensils needed, would have been fully stocked and available. Another area of disappointment was with the lack of hand sanitizer. During this time of Covid 19, It is not unusual for hotels and businesses to have hand sanitizer available for patrons. It seems as if some of the money that had been saved, due to cuts pertaining to the pandemic, could have been redirected to help address the continued need for health and safety, by providing this item. Had I been aware of the decision of this BW Plus to refrain from serving a modified breakfast, as is suggested in the ads, I would not have booked here. Unless the circumstances change, I will not return. Perhaps, one could find a better value, elsewhere.
My wife and I checked in for a one-night "staycation", money paid was well worth it. I mean, if you want to walk to Universal you can, or a shuttle. But, due to Covid-19, there are restrictions. They DO NOT offer breakfast, but you can get some from the many restaurants (including Starbucks) in the area. As of July 2020, Sonnys is closed, but most restaurants are open during the day. You must wear a mask in the lobby, which is fine, same with all the businesses in the area. Shower was good, you need to read the directions on the wall. The dial next to the light switch is the fan. So overall, it is better than the amount! Oh, unlike other hotels, no USB ports, bring your own AC plugs.
My friend and I stayed here for Universal's re-opening at the beginning of June. When I booked the room it said that breakfast was included and even stated on the website that they would have individually wrapped items to go. This was not the case. When I checked in the gentleman told me that "they haven't figured it out yet." We had a room on the 1st floor and our room was not the greatest. There was mold on our bathroom wall and somewhere I had read that it had recently been re-modeled but it did not seem like it had been at all. Beds were comfortable enough and it was conveniently located near restaurants but that is about all it had going for it. I have stayed at other hotels in the area and would stay somewhere else in the future.
They advertise free breakfast and free shuttle to universal. Neither is true and they won't tell you until they have your money. They tried to claim that other hotels aren't doing shuttles either but in fact the best western right down the street is running shuttles.
This Hotel was very concerned about the Covid19 and appeared to be taking proper precautions for this. We ate breakfast in the eating area and everything was clean and orderly. Tables were being cleaned immediately as people finished their meals. Food was wrapped up individually if you wanted to take it out of the eating area. Our room was very clean as well.
Very poor sevice - have been charged twice for the same stay, over $650 for a sdtay that was booked for just over £300!! Can't understand why the hotel or Best Western can't do a simple refund for the credit card they charged by mistake
Room was clean, check in and out was easy. Breakfast had a lot to be desired, eggs had no flavor, and consistency was that of powdered eggs. Coffee was horrible. Close to Universal Studios, you could walk there, Uber it for about $8.00. Hotel has free transportation, but very limited times. Close to restaurants.
Great hotel, perfect location. The hotel was recently renovated, and everything was crisp and clean. The poolside was spotless, with fresh supply of towels daily. It was peaceful out there, a great place to relax. The lobby and breakfast area were spotless. The staff were extremely helpful and kind. We appreciated their attention to detail and how they always greeted us with a smile. The location was fantastic. We didn't get a shuttle to Universal, it was nice to walk to the park every day. Yes, we had to cross the crosswalk several times, but this is expected in a large city and not under control of the hotel. There were many great places to eat nearby, and we felt safe walking in the daytime/evening. I don't recommend walking in any city at night. There is an IRide Trolley nearby that was a fun way to explore Universal Blvd and International Drive ($12/week pass/person), without renting a car. Our 2nd floor room was spotless, and the bed was very comfortable. We did not hear any activity from the rooms nearby, even though the hotel was fully booked. It had an ambiance of being a family-friendly place, where most of the clientele were families enjoying the parks. Staff made the bed every day, and their attention to detail was really noticed in the bathroom. It was always stocked with clean towels, soaps, and counters were wiped clean daily. We had plenty of hot water every day. The laundry room on the 2nd floor was ideal. It was so convenient to be able to do laundry in the new and efficient machines for only $2 per load. This room was immaculate as well.
What can I say? Theme park based hotel located in Orlando. Geared towards families. Rooms were spacious, clean and furniture was pretty much like all other hotels in Orlando. Breakfast was better then the fare of other hotels I have stayed at in Orland but not really exciting. The coffee tasted instant, but families were more excited about the free shuttle rides to the parks then what's for breakfast.
Great hotel! The staff was amazing and extremely helpful, especially Martin! His efforts to help us were beyond expectations, and made our stay much more enjoyable and memorable! The hotel location is ideal for visiting Universal Studios. The rooms were spacious, nice and very clean and the breakfast was really good. I will stay here during my next visit to Orlando!
Amazing stay, clean and comfortable rooms, very close to the parks and shops. Amazing breakfast, Esther's attention is the best. Very grateful to Julia's attention for answering all our questions, very friendly and professional. I would definitely stay again
I was bit by BEDBUG all over my body. I realized after I checked out, I had to go doctor and used too many medications. This hotel needs proper bug cleaning. NEVER EVER AGAIN. I will also upload the photo
No real complaints. Room was clean, breakfast was good, staff was friendly and helpful, wifi worked fine. But the hotel needs an update. Hallways are little dark, room decor is a bit dated and there is only one elevator.
This hotel is tucked back behind another, making it hard to find. Once we saw it, we were able to check in and relax! Super close to Universal Florida and outlet malls. Room had pull out sofa bed and 2 queen beds, very spacious. Clean and comfortable with few frills. Free breakfast was a great way to start a busy day at the parks! would stay again
We stayed there the end of Jan and loved it. It is a great value for the price. Shuttles to Universal (don't be sucked into going to a timeshare talk - it's in the hotel lobby). Place to get food and drinks right on sight. Outdoor pool which we didn't use. Able to do laundry but again we didn't use. All staff really friendly. Do agree rooms need to be updated but we weren't staying at a 5 star hotel. So for the money it was a great stay.
This is a conveniently located out- of-the- way hotel near Universal studios- it's called a Best Western “Plus” location but it's nothing special & it's dated to say the least. Nice breakfast & convenient location
This place is truly a gem. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. The place was clean and comfortable and the staff consistently wanted to please. So convenient and ample options for food, attractions and transportation. LOVED our stay and can't wait to return.
Property needs to be updated, especially the rooms. Not pleased with water stains on the ceiling. Fairly quiet location; good selection of TV stations, breakfast decent; great location. Not happy about grab 'n Go service for breakfast. Maid service between stays was fine.Bed fine; pillows....the worst!
My family booked this hotel at the very last minute on December 17, 2019. There were delays on the Turnpike on our way home. We arrived at the hotel a few minutes before 11 PM. The front desk clerk was very helpful and quickly got us checked into our room. The property was in a nice location and there were several restaurants nearby, including Miller's Ale House, Golden Corral, Kobe Japanese Steakhouse, and Carrabas Italian Grill. A Walgreens Pharmacy is nearby as well. Our hotel room was comfortable and quiet. The complimentary breakfast provided included eggs, yogurt, fresh coffee, hot tea, a variety of different juices, bagels, and toast. The breakfast attendant was very helpful and friendly. The next time I visit the area, I would definitely consider booking this hotel again. There are many restaurants to choose from and the rooms are comfortable.
We stayed here during a recent visit to Universal studios. The Inn is a very short drive to Universal. The room itself was very comfortable. Bathroom and bedroom was very clean. Bathroom had a nice assortment of soaps lotion and shampoo. There was even in room coffee. The included breakfast was basic but pretty good with eggs sausage fruit bagels waffles. Staff was very friendly and welcoming. The only reason I gave it a rating of 4 rather than 5 was that the shower was only lukewarm never hot and our inroom safe was broken and not operable. Overall, convenient place to stay at a great price with an included breakfast.
Rooms smell a bit musty, the breakfast area was to small for the amount of guests. The shuttle time were not very well thought out, over crowded, nor on time. Only was available to us half the time we wanted it, good thing it was a nice walk to and from the park. Staff was very nice.
The Staff was very friendly. Shuttle was alright. But it is within walking distance of universal if you want to walk for 20 minutes. Got us very early check in which was helpful. Decent sports bar in the same parking lot. Standard continental breakfast.
Pros: Very close to Universal, with a complimentary shuttle. Free parking and breakfast. Refrigerator and microwave in room. Cons: The shuttle only runs twice a day, so we actually did not use it. You can walk, but you have to cross a busy intersection without a crosswalk. If you want the crosswalk, you have to cross 3 times instead of 1. Hotel is old, and room did not appear clean. Bathtub looked dirty, we wouldn't shower in there. Breakfast area was tiny for the size of crowd there. We ended up taking the food to our room as there was no room to sit, even though the sign by the elevator said all the food had to be consumed in the breakfast area. Room is very small. Good luck fitting the rollaway bed in there. We stayed here because we had a free night voucher. Would not stay here again given the choice.
Just close to the Universal, 20 minutes walk away. Big room, with standard breakfast. To many parking space. Also, there are different restaurants around. Moreover, there is wishing matches with dryers.
This hotel is in the process of being renovated and needs more work. My room looked like it might be considered finished but as with many hotels in Florida the room smelled like mildew. The bathroom was updated just enough to be presentable. One thing they need to upgrade is their laundry system. The towels felt and smelled clean but still had stains that hadn't come out. A new system or more bleach maybe could help. Early one morning the fire alarm kept going off and we were told it was because a water leak shorted it out. The manger said it would be a few hours till the electrician got there. Finally I guess it completely shorted and stopped going off. The breakfast room and breakfast was very good. The hostess kept everything full and hot. Maybe I would give this hotel a second chance after all renovations are finished as the people who work there are very nice and professional.
I've stayed at this location many times over the years and really liked it. I always used to refer people here. I do feel there are still some positives. But the last two visits were quite disappointing. The good: Always friendly, polite employees. A terrific breakfast - nice selection, good tasting. A very hard-working, friendly breakfast staff and housekeeping staff, ready with a smile and offer to help with whatever you need. Very clean property and a great location, close to parks. Priced at a good value. The bad: Both times we've experienced fairly serious problems with our room - each time we politely reported them promptly, hoping they could be fixed and we were pretty much ignored... nothing changed during our stay. I've filled out several glowing post-stay surveys for this property in previous years, but the last two were honest recounts - a mix of the good things and the problems we experienced. All I received for my effort was an annoying canned form letter - basically a version of "sorry your visit didn't meet your expectations - thank you for your feedback". Two years, two stays: exactly the same form letter - lol. I think corporate provides them with a written template and managers just hit “send”. So what were the problems? 1. Last year: room reeked of smoke and mildew. Asked if they could clean/air it out...they said they'd send someone up. Nothing changed. Resort was booked – no other comparable rooms. We were only staying 2 days, so we put up with it, but given that one of us has asthma, wasn't the healthiest or most pleasant stay. 2. This year, very loud AC every time it turned on or off - it literally kept us up the entire first night. We did not experience this in past rooms. We reported it the next morning and the front desk woman promised to send a maintenance guy to fix - we were out of the room all day/evening, so plenty of time. I know the issue is fixable, because we experienced a similar AC problem at another Best Western with the same old-school style floor units. That staff was terrific! The maintenance guy had it fixed in 1 hour – whisper quiet afterwards. He said he knew just what the problem was and explained that these were old units that must be changed out periodically. It was a different story at this Orlando property: I'm not even sure anyone even bothered to check the unit out, because nothing changed. Three nights of loud on/off AC - really screwed up our sleep. During the same stay, bathroom door squeaked loudly - if one person had to use bathroom, would wake the other up. We also asked if that could be looked at. They promised but never did. My husband ended up fixing it himself. Unfortunately, we're easygoing and too nice sometimes: we don't like to make a scene...so we usually aren't treated as well as people who yell and scream at the staff until the problem is fixed. I don't feel these were minor/picky things. The canned letter from the manager disappointed me more. This hotel can do much better and has before.
Easy walk to universal which was much quicker than taking the shuttle. Pool was small but completely adequate for our down day. Nice lounge chairs. Rooms are basic but we were there to be out of the room not in it so no point paying for extra fancy, especially when we were paying to go the theme parks. Breakfast was good. Cereal, waffle maker, pancake maker, eggs, sausage, juices, coffee, etc. There is a Walgreens and a few restaurants right in the same block so very handy. Got lunch supplies and snacks to take to the parks at Walgreens. Overall, very pleased with the place. Don't expect the Taj Mahal but expect to be comfortable without having to break the bank.
PRO: A quick $5 cab ride to universal or a quick shuttle ride (only two times to choose from for pick up or return). Relatively quiet-had neighbors but never heard anything. Two small pools. CONS: Breakfast items are limited and sound better than they taste. Price seems cheap but booking in advance you could stay at a better location. Pool is not heated and no hot tub to soak your feet. Water stains throughout the hotel. Moldy, Mildewy, smell in rooms. Possible smoke smell in non-smoking rooms. Beds weren't my favorite but came with plenty of pillows. Queen size felt more like a full. Paid for a King and got 2 queens.
Picked this location because it was close to Universal. We walked over to the parks for Halloween Horror nights, easy 15 min sidewalk path. Also had walked to TGI Fridays. Hotel was clean, staff was very nice. Beds were comfortable. It was a pretty day and we got to use the pool...nice pool area...does have some ants. Water not heated but felt good. Breakfast had good selection. Great value hotel. Would stay here again!
The hotel is in a perfect location for Universal, Disney and the premium outlets where it provides free shuttle to some location and the trolley is very close too. Check in wasn't the best experience, we arrived at 12 and understood we had to wait till 3 which we did, but when the time came still till 3:40 one of our 2 rooms wasn't ready and the front desk person wasn't even friendly or able to provide how much time we still have to wait! Then she said it's either we provide 1 room on ground floor and the other on the 3rd and you can't ask to change the rooms later(we requested rooms close to each other when we booked more than 2 months ahead) or we just wait for an indefinite time! The room itself is OK but we were 3 in the room and all amenities were just for 2! Also, it had some dead ants on the floor when we checked in but we were really too tired to complain. Anyone can just enter the hotel because at night the front personnel just disappeared (I guided a pizza delivery guy to the elevators and 3rd floor as he found no one in the reception to ask!). The breakfast is basic but it good & does the job. I was quite disappointed with the amount of plastic this place uses (plastic plates, cups, spoons...everything). There are some restaurants and Walgreens around.
First We had purchased a family room through Expedia then we get there they said they had nothing to do with the 3 rd party & all family rooms are sold out they gave us a regular two bed ( mind you I have family still coming the girl offered a bed in which it don't fit in a regular room, then my family member that night after a long day out she lays down and there is BUGS CRAWLING ON THE HEAD BOARD we don't know what they were but they were in the pillow & bed too,we call front desk mind you it's 2am & the night shift guy says I have a spray to kill the bugs my boyfriend said no way you want us to sleep with the smell to get us in another room all rooms were sold out, he said basically to check out or he'll get us another hotel we were so upset we couldn't even sleep that Night, where was we gonna go at that time of night he sprayed the headboard it was so upsetting then the next day the manager tried to make it better by putting us in another room we took it, I never experienced this before I've been to this hotel so many times but this was very disappointing won't be going back there
I have stayed at several Best Westerns, this one by far had the worst water pressure. Taking a shower was a bit of a challenge without decent pressure from the shower head. Breakfast is ok, no bacon during our 2 nights there. Lovation is perfect though if you plan to visit Universal Studios, its minutes away and there are free shuttles to and from.
Best off-site to stay at if you are going to Universal, close by, good service, older older but well kept up, good wi-fi, good free breakfast. All staff very pleasant and eager to help. Free parking of course and plenty of other restaurants around plus easy access to International Drive.
Could not ask for a better experience. All personnel attentive and caring. Location is convenient tothe whole city of Orlando.Everyone goes out if their way to make you comfortable and welcome.everyone leaves happy.
Very clean hotel, easy access to Universal Studios, and 20 min walking distance. Lots of local restaurants to save money vs. eating in the park. Information desk in lobby to answer park questions was helpful and free shuttle to and from park helps those tired feet after walking all day.
Very conveniently located hotel with friendly staff. all the staff was very friendly and professional specially Julia. i must say beds in the room were very comfortable. free parking and awesome breakfast. The pool area is small but ideal for end of the day dips.no issues at all during my stay.i highly recommend this hotel.
We walked to park most times but they do offer a shuttle bus, it's about a 20 min to park. The room was clean, spacious and had everything required. The fridge froze our water though. Breakfast was OK, scrambled eggs and sausages and ability to make own waffles and pancakes!
This hotel gives you value for your money. It is literally located 10-15 minutes away from Universal Studios. It has free parking and the free breakfast is decent. Waffles, scrambled eggs, turkey sausages, etc. The coffee is not the best but there is a Starbucks across the street. There are also other restaurants options nearby as well. The free shuttle makes several trips to Universal. We took the 9:15 a.m. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because it is very dated and the suite was small.
Very conveniently located hotel with friendly staff. The room was clean, the breakfast was great for kids (although I would love more healthy options). Lots of option to eat out nearby. Easy access to the highway. 15-minute walking distance to Universal Studios, although the offer also offers a free shuttle service.
The hotel is about a fairly easy 15mins walk to Universal Studios which means you can leave your car parked in the hotel carpark. There is also a concierge who can provide assistance in booking and transportation to other theme parks in the area. The hotel is clean and tidy (if a little noisy) and provides a full breakfast and 24hr coffee supply. The rooms are fairly spacious, important for families and they are reasonably modern. There is a number of bars, retaurants and fast food outlets within a short walking distance (less than a mile)
We were looking for a economy hotel near Universal and we got greatly surprised for the quality of it. The location is great with several dining options at walking distance and the hotel staff was super helpful and friendly..
We stayed here for 5 nights in June. Stayed here due to the location to Universal parks. Was excellent 15 minute walk. Good breakfast in the morning ( could maybe do with a little more choice) & free parking which was another factor in staying here. Really handy for Macdonalds & golden coral if you wnat to grab some food without the drive. Could do with a bit of a refurb but perfectly fine. The reason for 4 stars was the air con OMG it was so noisy. I would definitely stay again if the price was right.
After a long day at Universal Studio's we want to relax in a cool room. But the room was very hot and the woman at the front desk came up to explain to us how an air conditioner works. We are originally from Florida and know how air conditioning works! She changed our room, which was still hot but we were too tired to move again. The continental breakfast opened at 8am, who wants to hang around until 8am to get breakfast when visiting Orlando or starting the trip back home. Disappointing stay!
Perfectly situated for a trip to universal. The pool area is small but ideal for end of the day dips. Breakfast is great, good choice, pancakes are amazing, waffles everyday with a good hot and cold selection.
Everything was great. Room was clean, the bed was very comfortable, plenty of hot water, no issues at all during my stay. Breakfast was simple but delicious, well stocked and the area was well kept. Enjoyed our stay
Mostly i travel for business. But I always see if there is a Best Western option to consider. If there is, i almost always choose the B.W. option. Great Service and comfortable rooms. I also like the Best Western Rewards program.
Great location for visiting Universal Studios but after a long, hot day at the park the Air Conditioning in the room did not work well. No one got a good nights sleep. Also, i booked a toom with 2 queen beds and they were only double beds. Breakfast was not all that good either
The property is in a great location if you are visiting Universal Studios or Disney. The free breakfast was fantastic with a lot of different options. It is an older hotel and is due for a serious renovation. The bathrooms and rooms are showing wear and tear. Overall it was clean and the staff was very friendly.
Our stay on June 16th was a complete disaster. First room, 121, had the window fall out during a thunderstorm. They then moved us to room 205. Everything seemed fine until we returned from Universal to find about a hundred ants on the floor. We were then moved to room 206. I will say the front desk staff was very understanding. I asked to speak to the manager but was told he was not in. I sent an email to the general manager explaining what happened but he never responded. The front desk person did acknowledge that the email was received and I asked that the general manager respond, but I have not received a response yet. I cancelled another reservation at the hotel and moved us to a competitor's hotel. I would not recommend staying at this hotel.
Stayed for 3 nights to visit Universal Studios. 2 shuttles to the parks in the AM and 2 in the evening to leave. Shuttles were always on time. Beds were comfortable. Shower heads need to be updated. The rooms were a bit tired. Hotel was clean, works were polite. The breakfast was sufficient but there really isn't enough seating. It was hot and well stocked. The first night we struggled with the AC.... it kicked on and off all night and woke us up. Night 2 we set it to low and continual and we were fine. I would stay here again.
For people visiting the theme parks, this hotel is ideal. It has free shuttle buses to Disney and Universal (limited runs per day, put your name down in advance), as well as a stand offering discount tickets to the parks within the hotel lobby. Location of this hotel also offers a number of shops and restaurants/bars within walking distance, which was great. Carpark for the hotel is shared with these restaurants and bars, as well as other hotels, so it can get quite busy but we never had an issue finding space. The rooms are basic but clean and comfortable, and even the sofa bed gave us a good night sleep. Air con unit was too noisy to sleep with it on, so the room got quite warm at night. Pool area was kept clean and the pool itself was lovely! Limited seating around the pool, but to be honest most of the time we were the only ones there. Very quiet! Hotel also offered free computers and printers to use which was good for printing off park tickets for Universal and Kennedy Space Centre. Note: the computers don't seem to wipe anyone's data after use, so be sure to delete it yourself especially if you've been putting in personal information. I could easily see previous users email addresses, search histories, names, personal info etc. Use these computers at your own risk. Breakfast let it down a little bit... limited choice per day, but the menu rotated daily which was nice and gave a little bit more variety. Seating for breakfast was tight, especially before the theme park buses ran each morning. Also, SOOOO much single use plastic here. Plastic plates and cutlery and cups, no alternatives offered. I sincerely hope it gets recycled. Would stay here again!
Location 4/5 (we wanted to go to Universal) Service 3/5 Rooms 3/5 Amenities 3/5 Fair overall, the hotel is a bit dated though cleaned well and rooms are spacious. The old air conditioning does make noise but I sleep through most things. There is a swimming pool (limited hours) and a self service laundry room that takes card payments. Breakfast was okay, and only okay. I'm a stickler for filling up on breakfast but even we skipped it to eat at Universal one day. Coffee was just awful. There is a shuttle bus that ran twice in the morning to and twice in the late afternoon/evening from Universal and one that went to Disney as well. You have to put your name down the night before and don't expect it to run on time. In the same plot there is a Kobe restaurant (recommended), a steakhouse (didn't try) and a Walgreens (expensive), also a Burger King if that is your thing. To go further afield bring a car. You can actually walk to Universal in around 20-25 minutes if you fancy. Minor issue on service when we arrived the booking was a night short and the person checking us in insisted I had to resolve this despite showing the printed and on-line book so the confusion was between BW and the booking site. Other than that all good. NOTE FOR BEST WESTERN : STOP THE SINGLE USE PLASTIC ON ALL THE BREAKFAST ITEMS. Really for a company your size this is nothing short of disgraceful. I will check before I book again and if you are still doing this I will go elsewhere.
Reception: The lady was helpful and efficient.. She answered all our questions. A Tour and ticket agent (selling discounted tickets) is located in the hotel foyer. Room / facilities: Top floor (lift level 3) #308 double queen bed, flat screen TV, self control Air-conditioner, in tub shower, fridge, safe, iron and board, alarm clock, desk and drawers. Very clean and tidy rooms. Washer and dryer laundry is located on level 2. A wash or dry costs $2 per operation, with machines take credit card only. Guest computers are located in the lobby with printing facilities, to print flight boarding passes. Car parking is plentiful and free. Shuttle bus is available to take you to selected theme parks. Wifi: Very fast, input of password required every 24 hours. Breakfast: Disposeable plates, cups, knives and forks. Eggs, sausages, pancakes, waffles, pastries, yoghurt, cereal, whole fruit, instant oats, tea and coffee. Menu is varied slightly each day. Conclusion: Great hotel located in the thick of all the theme parks and restaurants. SPECIAL NOTE: I discovered a GoPro camera in the safe, with SD mico card still inside.. this has been handed in to the hotel reception . I hope the owner may read this review and contact the hotel, to be reunited with their item. Letdowns: From an environment perspective it is very disappointing to use throw away everything (cups, cutlery, plates). Location / Nearby: Restaurants and cafes, Wal Greens, Burger King across the car park, McDonalds and petrol station on the corner, 300m away. Universal theme park across the road, International Premium shopping outlets are 2.2km. Millena Mall around 3km away. Getting to hotel: From Orlando International Airport, Car hire or transfers are the easiest way.
The hotel was in a great location. We could walk to and from Universal but they do have a nice shuttle if you prefer it. The staff is very friendly and helpful. the pool was a bit disappointing... very small but clean. Breakfast was great. My only complaint was the cleaning staff. Our room was only cleaned once during our six day stay even though we told them when we were leaving and when we planned to return. The overall property is very clean and it was a very pleasant stay.
For anyone visiting Universal Studios, this hotel is ideally situated. There is plenty of free parking for those driving and a free shuttle bus runs to Universal Studios, SeaWorld and Disney World. There are a number of restaurants and coffee shops within easy walking distance. The rooms are clean and comfortable, there is a well equipped laundry on the second floor, and a good continental breakfast with some hot dishes, is available. As a family of 6 we were more than satisfied with our stay here.
We stayed 2 nights to go to Universal. It was a short walk and saved us parking at the park. Breakfast was great and rooms were clean . Front desk helpful on how to get to park . Rooms were cleaned everyday .
The hotel is really not a Plus as it is very dated and in need of update. The breakfast is terrible. Pool not heated. The employees are very friendly. I am not a person to complain but it wasn't what I thought especially that it is a Plus Best Western. I have stayed at Best Western Plus hotels before and I was very disappointed with this hotel.
My party had a nice 2 night stay in March and I would reserve this hotel again. Check in was fast and all employees we encountered were very friendly. We chose this location due to several restaurants and a Walgreens Pharmacy all within walking distance. They also offer free basic continental breakfast and a free shuttle to Universal Studios. You must sign up to get a spot on the shuttle. Earliest pickup was 8:05 am which was perfect since we wanted to get to the park early. We missed the 9pm return pickup but grabbed a taxi with no troubles, which with tip was only $10.00 due to being such a short ride. The taxi area was also a much shorter walk than the shuttle area. The hotel only has 3 floors and we were in room 305 which faced out the back side. We all slept well and the room was very clean. I would describe the entire stay as being comfortable and relaxing.
The title says it all! Our room was clean, breakfast was excellent every morning and it was free! It included always a nice variety. Eggs, sausage, different kinds of breads including bagels, and some mornings pancakes or waffles. The location was great whether you took a shuttle to theme parks or drove your own car. Front desk was always courteous and very helpful. Quite a few restaurants nearby too.
Spent several nights at this place during Spring break with main goal of visiting Universal Studios. The location was perfect for that as walking there only took 15-20 minutes. Hotel also offered a free shuttle (to other parks as well), but it only ran twice there and twice back, so we usually took the shuttle there and then walked back to avoid the traffic jams in the evening or to eat outside the park during the afternoon since there were several decent restaurants also within walking distance. Rooms were clean and spacious, although bathroom and carpets could benefit from a bit of updating. Breakfast was included and offered decent selection of standard items for this type of hotel. Breakfast area was a bit cramped and didn't have enough sitting to deal with fully booked crowds. There is an outdoor pool, that kids enjoyed. The staff was very friendly. Gave it a 4 for its location-value, compared to other properties around.
Overall the hotel was ok. The hotel is in a good location, walking distance to restaurants. Breakfast was fresh with good selection. The room was spacious with comfortable beds. Serviced daily with clean fresh towels (although the smell of bleach from washing of towels was quite strong) The furniture in the room was a little dated but that was fine...the 2 material chairs did however require a good clean with one having a big stain...again we just popped a towel over the seat. Service directory for the rooms requires updating of information. States laundry is coin operated however credit card is required to operate the machines. Staff member at reception desk was quite firm that I was incorrect when I stated that the hotel directory states the laundry is coin operated. As an overseas visitor this was very frustrating given I did not bring a credit card with me. Please note the advertised free shuttle to the theme parks does NOT state any restrictions on accessible mobility equipment used by persons with a disability or limited walking ability. The driver of the shuttle was extremeley rude, refusing to listen to our explanation that the scooter folds down to pram size. We were refused access to the free shuttle. The employee in the Inn was also quite adamant that the driver was correct in refusing to allow us to board the shuttle until we folded the scooter to it's smallest size and showed her. She then was in agreeance with us that the scooter should have been allowed to be put on the shuttle. This portable mobility scooter travelled from Australia to LA on a plane, then numerous buses...(the folded scooter was held by my son in law on the bus), shuttles and planes from San Diego airport to Orlando then back to LAX. Please just be aware that the free shuttle may not take you & your mobility aid. We used an Uber to go back & forth to Universal which was very affordable and happy for us to put the folded scooter in the boot.
This place has it all! Location, price, & service! The front desk staff was extremely helpful & friendly. When we arrived, we barely missed the last shuttle to the theme parks. Darn! But Universal studios is right down the street from the hotel. You can walk it, but its like a 10 or 15 minute walk. As the park is extremely large. But we opted to drive over to the park. The front desk understood, that we wanted to get to the park ASAP. So they said we could leave our bags there, & they'd hold our bags. Or we could come back after we done at the park. We chose the 2nd option. When returned they upgraded our room, because I was a Gold member. Sweet! The room is large enough to spread out and relax comfortably. The beds were perfect, I slept like a baby on them! The water for my bath, was nice & hot! Just how I like it, cuz I suffer from arthritis. Breakfast is good. They have a nice choice of items. The hot trays had scrambled eggs, turkey sausage links, & pancakes. Theres a make your own waffle station. Fruit, yogurt, pastries, and 3 kinds or cold cereals to choose from. Drinks are the usual coffee and decaf options. Orange, cranberrie, & apple are your juices. I personally LOVE this property! And I'd stay here in a heartbeat again. This place is WAY better then a Westin property that I'd stayed at in Ft. Lauderdale! Honestly I believe this Best Western, blew that place out of the water! Because of the convenience, price, and overall service I received! I highly recommend this place. Kudos to the staff, for treating me like family! You got a guaranteed repeat customer.
The room was nice enough. We were only there one night before a cruise. The breakfast had a great selection. The night desk desk however can use some training. Not only was he mean to my little niece but when we called for pillows he was nasty too. When my niece went and got the pillows she asked him is this the front desk. She is only 10 he was like what does it look like to you? Totally not necessary. Other than that employee everyone else was nice and helpful.
The hotel is in great location, close to fast food restaurants and shops. The staff is very helpful and professional. The rooms are very clean and the beds are really comfortable. The breakfast is really good and they give you a lots of options to choose from. Overall very good hotel.
The hotel is conveniently placed near Universal. The rooms are comfortable and I did not have any problems. The bathroom was clean, but the shower had some water stains? The staff are so so nice and helpful. The free breakfast is a plus and can't complain about it, it was good. The hotel also has a shuttle to the parks in Orlando but for Universal there is only two times for drop off and pick up, which was a little frustrating. There is no bar or restaurant in hotel, as expected, but there are some across the parking lot. Overall, very comfortable hotel.
I also stayed here 4 years ago, easy access to universal studios right down the street. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. It is an older hotel and The decor needs to be updated. The hotel does need to be remodel but the beds were comfortable. The shower wasn't that great. When we got there there was still water in the bathtub , told front desk the next morning and maintenance fixed the issue and didn't have any more issues. There is no bar in hotel but there is a sports bar across parking lot and the food was awesome! I would stay here again.
Great stay; nice room and amenities; very clean. Good free breakfast! We had a car accident one mile before we got to the hotel and the very friendly front desk hostess was sympathetic and offered me tea to "calm" me; how sweet and courteous.
While this hotel is ideally placed for the Universal Parks, it is in dire need of a refurbishment, as the rooms are dark and dingy. They are like something from about 1983. The breakfast is poor, served in canteen like conditions on plastic single use plates and cutlery (David Attenborough would condemn this immediately)! food quality is also poor - suggest you find the nearest IHOP! No bar, reception advises using the VERY expensive sports bar across the car park. Only plus point is nice guy on the concierge desk who can sort out any tickets etc for the parks, Kennedy Space centre etc. This hotel is supposed to be a Best Western premium product & charges as such. Poor value!
Overall a great place to stay. The free parking and other ammenities were a wel Breakfast was good, could be better, but welcome and FREE! overall hotel was clean but a bit dated carpet and furnishings. Staff was friendly and I will be staying here again.
there's a nice free breakfast buffet in the morning...and a free shuttle bus to and from Universal. (limited times..once in the morning...once in the evening. but why bother doing Universal if not for the whole day?) room was clean and the bed comfortable.
The hotyer and the services provided were more than good; the breakfat is limited but good; the ubication to the Universal Studios Park, outlets and other turistic points made of this hotel more than a good option
The in-hotel breakfast was great! They had a great variety for our family. Friendly staff at breakfast and at the front desk. Even though we were located on the first floor close to the front desk, our room was quiet. Cleanliness of the room could have been better. I wiped down the bathroom counter before using it and it was not very clean. Pool was dirty, but it had also rained that day, so maybe hadn't been cleaned due to that. Overall stay was good. I would recommend this hotel. Perfect if going to Universal as you are only a few minutes away. We were able to get around the area and Disney well with staying here. Restaurants in the same parking lot was nice too.
All was doing great, till a bug showed into my wife leg, it fell into the ground where i hit it with my shoe. I asked to the front desk to change the room , that she said should do, after 3 oclock, so i neede to leave the bags into the front desk till that. My only worries is that some disease it van bring if i was bitten...
As a seasoned Administrative Housekeeper, I was very impressed with the overall cleanliness of our room and the hotel in general. I generally do a quality control inspection of any room I plan to stay in. Everything was 100% perfect. Breakfast is very good and one of the best I have had. If I could find any complaint at all is that it doesn't do much for diabetics. Whole Wheat bread and bagels should be available as most diabetics don't eat white anything. Overall a perfect 10
There was blood on my pillows at check in and you could see the hall thru the locked door. When I told the front desk they did nothing. Very disappointed in this hotel. And I did the research on this hotel.
We loved how close this was to Universal but the hotel is showing it's age and the breakfast was cramped Did love the yogurt machine with toppings and REAL scrambled eggs. Our location was noisy, near a slamming stairwell door, so avoid rooms on the ends of the floors.
The rooms were quite satisfactory. The breakfast had hot meals including but not limited to scrambled eggs, sausages, waffles, etc.. (no bacon though). Not a 5 star but not 5 star pricing. Pool was not heated so it was a little on the cold side. Still highly recommended for its location, cleanliness, breakfast and internet speed.
This hotel is overrated. the breakfast wasn't fresh, is entirely based on frozen pre-cooked food. The coffee was awful. The a/c system was old and noisy. When the toilet was blocked the staff gave us a sink plunger to unblocked it ourselves. The day we checked out the lift was faulty, we had to move all our baggages till the first floor.
This was a nice hotel. Stayed here in order to attend a concert at Blues Live. The proximity to Universal was very good. IF only there wasn't so much traffic in Orlando. Room was nice and the internet speed was good.
While the room was nice enough, the a/c was hard to regulate. Seemed like it was off about 5 degrees warmer than reading. Also, a fan or some horrible noise ran constantly in the bathroom, which even with the door shut we could still hear. Did not sleep well at all!! Housekeeping could easily heard this noise and should have notified maintenance. We did not know about this noise earlier as we dropped our luggage and went for food and walked to City Walk, got back late.
The hotel is a great stay for people that are going to universal studios it is on walking distance takes about 15 to 20 minutes. The breakfast is decent some choices but not that many. Close to a starbucks and dinning posibilities.
I am so glad I chose Best Western to stay while visiting Universal Parks. Clean and comfortable are always my main criteria when giving a good review for a hotel. If they take care of those 2 things, then they rate at least 4 stars. Really nice front desk staff and housekeeping will get a 5th star every time. Thanks for a great trip.
I spent 5 days at this location from Dec 5-10, 2018. I enjoyed every moment of my stay. Once I arrived with my husband and a friend check in was easy. The beds are so comfy, the wifi was great in the room, the tv great flat screen, microwave and such a relaxing stay. The room was very comfortable and never heard any noise from the neighbors. I did stay on the 3rd floor which I enjoyed so you don't hear anything noise from upstairs. Breakfast was included with stay and was satisfying. The choice of eggs, turkey sausage, biscuits, waffle maker, pancakes, fruit such as apple , banana, oranges, juice, coffee, cereal, danish and yogurt. The hotel has a shuttle to Universal which was 1 mile away. We took advantage of that and sometime walked which was very convenient. Disney is about 15 miles away not a bad car ride. This is a great hotel and also nearby just across the parking lot is another restaurant, drug store, starbucks and a place to buy soveiers. So very convenient location. Will stay here again next time I plan to go to Universal/Disney.
We arrived late in the evening, yet the staff was friendly and helpful. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. The continental breakfast had a lot of variety and the quality was fine. Not very far off I-4.
Great price close to universal studios Florida . The staff was great. The breakfast was good. Only a 5 minute drive to theme park. Rooms were clean and overall quiet. I cannot say enough on how great the staff was on check in and check out. Thank you
Decent hotel, ok rooms, boring and cheap breakfast, but great location if you are visiting the Universal parks. Walking time to the parks are about 15 minutes, and there are pedestrian walkway all the way.
Do not let the reasonable price fool you onto thinking that this is not luxury. I am so glad that I chose to stay here. From my first entrance the customer service was wonderful. Even the counter where they sell you discount tickets for doing a timeshare presentation had great customer service. (I will review the actual presentation separately. It was brutal.) The room was awesome. I didn't know about a free breakfast. So the most awesome part was the shuttle. I rode back and forth to universal for free. That's 25 dollars in parking that I saved and no traffic aggravation. If you are going to universal studios I definitely recommend this hotel.
We had an overnight stay at this hotel before we flew home from our vacation. A quick Uber ride took us to Universal and back. It was very convenient and only about 6 bucks each way. The Best Western staff were very helpful and super friendly and the room was great. We mostly stay at Best Western as we collect points and I have to say that this was the BEST breakfast we have had thus far. Hot, tasty and plentiful. The breakfast room attendant kept the place spotless and gave us such good customer service. Good job, folks.
In terms of location to universal this hotel is super convenient, there is two free shuttles there a day but we walked there and back and it was very easy to do. The price was fantastic for the location. The free breakfast was great, everything was hot and I felt they had a good variety(the make your own waffles was my favourite). We had a room with two queen beds and a sofa bed, I slept on the sofa bed-the sofa bed was awful I could feel the springs when I rolled over. We only had the maid clean our room after being there two days, she took our bathmat without replacing it(we did have a spare though) and took the towels which we had left on the hooks, even though we were happy to use those again. The same evening we noticed a bunch of tiny bugs under the lamp and phone between the two main beds, we killed about 20 ourselves then I went to reception and advised the issue and he gave me some spray to use which I had to return that same evening. The following morning I reported it to the reception lady as we wanted to spray the room again and she said someone would come during the day and sort it out. I also reported an issue with our shower tap leaking for them to look at fixing at same time. I'm not sure what they did but we did not see any more alive bugs after this day. The shower situation got worse though and two nights later we couldn't get the water to stop running so I called reception and she came and removed the tap and then after some small time we were told the maintenance man would replace the tap in the morning (we were also due to check out but keen to shower before our flight). They did give us some compensation for the shower. If it was not for the bugs I would rate this higher, but they definitely were not something we expected to see at a best western hotel.
The room was clean the beds were very comfortable the room was cold just how I like it. I slept like a baby. There was no noise. The coffee in the lobby was always hot. Friendly staff. Two thumbs up. Would definitely stay here again.
It was a great location, with a very good breakfast, courteous staff, comfortable bed, quiet room. Wireless for phones was great although internet was sporadic so my son was unable to do school homework.
It's been a few years since we stayed here. Now it's time for updating first the shower. Only the wall shower head and no hand held. Surely not enough electrical outlets to charge devices. We luckily brought a power strip! There's an outlet for the refrigerator and microwave. One for the tv. Another for the table lamp which has two outlets to plug stuff in. However there's no ports for charging cell phones or iPads. There's another behind the table where we plugged in the power strip. Times have changed as electronics have and we need more outlets. It is close to Universal. A walk would be ok but not after walking five or more miles for the day around Universal. The shuttle leaves twice in the morning and twice at night. There's a free full breakfast which is actually really tasty. I would stay here again, but only if they update the property. The rooms are clean except for the ceiling fan which is completely dusty with a thick layer of old dust. The staff is friendly. It's only the building that is not up to par. Please change the shower heads and add more outlets and device charge ports into the outlets and clean the ceiling fans.
The room was clean and beds very comfortable. Good hot breakfast for two preteen boys. The shuttle service is outstanding. We were there for two nights and would definitely stay there again. Just minutes from Universal.
This is by far the worst BW I've stayed in over several years. Barking dogs across the hall. Reported to front desk. Reply, with a shoulder shrug. Pool dirty with high humidity and intense heat. Crawling bugs in bathroom sink.
Stayed here for our trip to Universal Studios. Front desk staff very helpful. Great hot breakfast selection. Room was a little humid but other than that it was really a great stay. Shuttle to Universal very convenient. We opted to take a taxi back and it was only $5 plus tip since we were so close. Very quite the night we stayed.
My bf and I had a bad experience at another hotel that we decided to give up a free stay and come stay here...and boy what a difference in customer service. We really thanks the whole staff we encountered during our stay. You guys are rockstars! This was my second time staying at this best western and from now on it will be my only option to stay when we go to Orlando.
We travel to Universal very often as annual passholders, and in the fall we attend Halloween Horror Nights multiple times. Because of the frequency of our visits for Halloween (usually three weekends in a row), we look for quality off-site hotels to keep the costs reasonable. We chose Best Western Plus based on recommendations of other annual passholders. The lobby is clean and fresh, all the front desk employees we encountered were friendly and helpful. The elevator was a little rattle-y for our tastes and felt somewhat unstable, but we didn't actually have any problems with it. We had a 2 queen room on the 3rd floor and our room overlooked the parking lot/Ale House. Room was plenty spacious with a good sized mini fridge and a microwave. The first thing we noticed while unpacking was that the furniture was dusty. The small "dining" table, the tv stand, and the stand with fridge/microwave had a decent layer of dust, not a situation where that task was overlooked only once. We just wet a washcloth and wiped everything down ourselves, not a huge deal, but others would certainly find issue with it. The bathroom was good sized but the door didn't close well and I found a lot of hair on our bathroom floor. Again, I cleaned it up, but definitely not something I should have had to do. We spent the night in the parks and when we returned we noticed the room was a little humid. AC is definitely cold enough, but also quite wet feeling. Possibly because it is an older AC unit. Bed was comfortable. Pillows were small but fine. The next day we were out of the room for a few hours in the afternoon and our room was serviced while we were gone. Housekeeping came to the door when we were back and brought more towels just in case. Unfortunately we slept in both days and didn't get to experience the free breakfast so I can't comment on that (it ends at 10am). We were glad we had free parking and enjoyed being able to walk to Ale House for drinks/food. Also within the parking lot is a Starbucks and a Walgreens (with a liquor store). Our Lyft to Hard Rock Hotel (where we went for happy hour prior to walking to Halloween Horror nights) was only $6 and very easy - pretty much a straight shot across the street. We will stay here again for a very convenient, clean, and safe off-site option when we visit Universal.
Lost power and room had roaches by the fridge and walls the room was clean and service was good. We only stayed one night and lost power for an hour. They claimed the genarater was blown. The location was really close to the parks so that was a plus.
Good service and sufficient parking. Close to Universal Studios and 10 to 15 minutes from Disney Springs. The rooms are good and big, but traces of use. The air conditioning gave an unpleasant smell. We immediately received another room when reporting. They helped us with the move. Good service. The staff is very friendly and give you tips on how to travel to the parks.
When we first checked in we were assigned a room next to the laundry room on the first floor. We decided that it might be a little too noisy for us next to the laundry room so requested another room. The desk clerk was so courteous that she assigned us a room on the third floor. We were served breakfast daily for the four days we were there and the parks were so close that we could have walked to Universal Studios and to all restaurants that shared the same area the hotel was located. All in all this was a very good stay and the service was excellent! Every time we return to our room it was made up perfectly with fresh towels Etc. I would recommend this hotel. And by the way the breakfast was served hot such as scrambled eggs turkey and or pork sausage pancakes and or french toast. And the coffee for me was just right!
Although not perfect, The Best Western Plus Universal Inn is a bargain hunter's dream hotel. Although one would not expect anything out of the ordinary, I can say the staff is wonderful and the rooms are very clean. The only flaws (which I believe are small) is I feel the breakfast station needs more space as well as a faulty remote control in room 316. With those two small mentions, my stay was infallible and for the price would encourage anybody on a budget to book their stay here.
Not as pricy as other hotels within the park, free transportation to and from Universal Studios, free breakfast but the elevator was broke-down off and on throughout our stay and the hotel was a little dated but clean. I found the staff to be very helpful and friendly.
Melissa was rude and arguementative. When I told her that I had paid already she kept arguing that they don't charge. Smugly asked "well do you have the charge?" and had me pull up my arm charges to find it. When I showed it to her she disappeared without apologizing when who I assume was a manager (she never identified herself) came out to help. While she did help, she also proceeded to lecture me on a form that they never sent me, like it was my fault I didn't receive it. So, they pretty much lost my business and I wont be staying again.
Mixed reviews at this hotel before I booked but for the price it was spot on. Clean , tidy , room comfortable . Breakfast was great , plenty to chose from . Good location to a 24hr convenience store that sells eveything you could possibly want and close to a pub. 2 free shuttle buses that go to the park each morning , 7.45 and 10.25 and two back from the parks , 6.45 and 9pm. You can walk it in about 20 minutes but watch out for the many small lizards on the pathways . Would have been nice to have a later bus back but instead we had to walk it when we watched the late shows . There was the option of a cab but that was $25 plus tip. Very expensive for the distant . Would recommend this holiday to anyone visiting Orlando
This is a basic Best Western hotel, but was a great base for the last part of our holiday. We stayed for two nights before flying home. It is on the doorstep to Universal theme parks which was want we needed. The price is very good, but you get what you pay for. Breakfast is served in the foyer area which can be quite crowded, but food is good. Rooms were clean and staff were friendly.
It's nothing fancy but you get more than you pay for I stayed there for 3 nights The lobby is very simple nothing fancy as said before Check in was easy and quick The room was spacious and clean each had a private bath wgich was clean too Pool was nice and the breakfast was nice too but the breakfast area needs to be bigger Wifi was good and the staff were helpful and smiling It was bery close to universal studios and they have a free shuttle twice a day Many restaurants were around so it was very easy to get food anytime I would surely stay there again ????
Very close to Universal and there is a free shuttle. The room was clean and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. There are many delicious restaurants and a Walgreens within walking distance. The pool is small but nice. Definitely a great stay!
This has been a great base for a two week family holiday. Our intention was to stay here to access Universal Resort, SeaWorld, Aquatica, Discovery Cove and Busch Gardens. Universal City Walk is a 15 minute walk (25 minutes to Park Gates). We intended to use Ubbers a little but never needed to for Universal. There is a shuttle service twice a day but inevitably it doesn't always run when you want it to. We did use it a few times. Always late when we left hotel but always on time when it left the park. In terms of the other parks we used Ubber for Discovery Cove (early check in needed), I ride for SeaWorld and Aquatica (great service and two stops close to the hotel) and the free mears shuttle (from Universal) to Busch Gardens. There is a free shuttle bus to Seaworld but this stops at many other hotels. Staff were extra friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and comfortable with air conditioning. The breakfast was good. Good selection of food and you can make your own fresh waffles. There is a Walgreens, Burger King and other food choices in the parking lot and surrounding areas. You can access coffee all day and there is a good sized fridge. The pool doesn't look great in the pictures but it's good enough for a dip when needed. We enjoyed our stay here and would recommend it.
Very impressed with our stay! This hotel is contemporary designed, very clean, and staff exceedingly positive and professional. Melissa at the front desk was just wonderful, listening to guests and brainstorming ideas to satisfy their needs. Ester was so pleasant and friendly, she made our mornings brighter! I didn't get his name, but the guy who was the activities coordinator at the 'transportation/ticket table,' was friendly and knowledgeable; providing great restaurants and rides at Universal! We used the shuttle for our second day at Universal, it was great not having to worry about traffic or pay another $22 for parking. Our shuttle driver in the morning was amazing, friendly and helpful! Breakfast was great, my daughter loved the chocolate chocolate chip waffles. The eggs and the French toast sticks were particularly delicious.
This hotel is super close to universal and you can even walk if don't want to wait for their free shuttles all the staff was really nice and attentive with our needs, we felt special ! they're super accommodating breakfast was very good and you have lots of restaurants within walking distance
This is one of the closer hotels to Universal besides the resorts. The average cost here is half of the resort costs. We are annual pass holders and wanted a more economical option for our overnight trips, which are about twice a week. This hotel is a little out of date but it is super clean! It has a lot of restaurants in the walking area and a free breakfast! We have made this our go-to hotel for Orlando!
We stayed here two nights to attend a show at the Amway Center. It's very clean close to almost everything you need, in fact the parking lot backs up to a Drug Store, A Restaurant (or two or three) Gas Station and a Couple of Pubs. It was very clean, the staff was top notch and very helpful. Rooms were nice size and clean, Beds were Firm and WELL KEPT. I always travel with my own pillow, so the little ones it the room didn't matter. The breakfast area was clean and well stocked BUT the food was close to being on the COOL Side, Had to NUKE it to warn it up. We had breakfast the first morning, but went to the Restaurant across the parking lot the next morning. Not worth the hassle of trying to find a seat and again finding everything almost cold. They say FREE Wireless High-speed Internet access, Well after almost three hours of trying to connect we gave up.......So If You Warn Up The Food and Fix The Internet I'll Give Ya FIVE (5) Stars
From check-in to check-out, service was timely and courteous. The room was spacious with all the amenities including a closet safe and free fast wi-fi. On the negative side, the courtesy transportation to Universal Studios was too limited as they only have morning service to the park and return in the evening. Also, the bathroom fixtures (esp. the tub) could use a refresh. Overall though, one of the better hotel choices in this area.
I stayed one night with my older son, before our return flight back to the New York City, The hotel was within walking distance of Universal Studios City Walk. I did walk with my son to Universal Studios City Walk, which had many restaurants, and shops. One stand out shop, was called VOODOO Donuts, it had a large assortment of donuts, priced from 1.50-3.00 each, There was also a chocolate candy shop and restaurant. As for the Best Western Hotel, the hotel was comfortable and well lit. As you enter the lobby, on the right side is the registration counter. The hotel staff were very friendly and welcoming. On the left side is a counter, where you can buy discount attraction tickets for Universal Studios, Disney World, Sea World, and other area attractions. To the left of the registration counter is a hallway that leads to a door that leads to an outdoor fenced in swimming pool. To the far left from the registration counter, is the breakfast area. There is a menu posted, that lists: coffee, orange juice, apple juice, scrambled eggs, sausages, self make waffles, bagels, bread, fresh yogurt dispensed from a machine, Our room was on the second floor. The room contained 2 queen size beds, microwave oven, refrigerator, television, desk, air conditioner, and a bathroom that contained a sink, toilet, and a shower/bath tub. The room was well kept, clean, and well lighted.
We wanted a place near Universal Studios. This fit the bill. The breakfast was yummy and plenty of hot food choices including my favorite, waffles! There's transportation to and from Universal. Times aren't always gtreat but how can one expect personalized service at a family hotel? We caught a cab home which wasn't much. I highky recommend,
We stayed at the Best Western Plus Universal to attend an event being held at the DoubleTree Conference Center. We just had to walk across the parking lot so convenience and value were perfect for an elderly couple on a budget.
we stay in this hotel 3 days, spending time at disneyland with kids, we had a nice time here, good breakfast, free wifi, nice pool. clean rooms. i will recomand this hotel. free shuttle to universal studios.
Hotel was clean! Fully booked, staff was friendly and the beds were comfortable! Only negative thing is pillows were half size. Breakfast was good. Food was fresh. Breakfast area was well attended and kept clean. Would gladly stay again.
This is an above average BW hotel in the Orlando Universal/Disney area. The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms where up to date and clean. The beds and pillows where comfortable. The room was neat and clean with only minor repairs needed to make it a 5 star. The morning breakfast was hot and good for a free meal. The location to Universal park was excellent. The family only stayed here for one night as we were going to the Universal hotel the next day and found it to be a very good place to stay. I would stay here again for my next vacation stay.
We stayed here for one night as part two of our Universal trip (we stayed elsewhere for part one). It was a good fit for our family. The staff were attentive and helpful. The kids enjoyed the pool, and played with some other young guests. Standard hotel room with 2 queens, fridge, microwave, TV etc. Three things sold this hotel for me, and it is for these reasons I recommend it: 1. Fantastic free HOT breakfast with eggs and sausages (different hot menu each day). 2. It's walking distance to Universal. The shuttle times were inconvenient for us, so we walked. It was a pleasant 15-20 minute walk. There is a major road to cross, but construction on a foot bridge is under way. 3. It has free parking!
I arrived earlier than planned and they accommodated not only my early check in but made sure I had a ground floor room! The amenities in the area are great as well. Bar and Grill, drug store are within walking distance of the hotel
This is a standard, middle of the road kind of hotel. We were here for 5 nights in total. Breakfast is a huge plus. It was a help yourself buffet which consisted of scrambled egg, sausages (turkey and pork) and either pancakes or french toast (alternate days). It had 3 or 4 different cereals, a waffles maker, mini pastries and muffins, fruit, juices inc orange and apple, milk, coffee and cold water machine. The rooms are a bit dated but its only the decor, I wouldn't be bothered by this as long as its clean. There is air con in the rooms, and the bonus of a fridge and a microwave. There is a swimming pool but we did not use it as we had limited days to do the parks. There is a small corner in reception that has chocolate bars and drinks. It wasn't very well stocked but handy. Our room was cleaned and made up and fresh towels every day. The best thing about this hotel is the location in relation to Universal Studios. There is a shuttle bus at 7.45am. We only used it once in the morning as by the time if came and everybody got on, we would have walked it quicker. It is a 10mins walk. We didn't use the shuttle returning (there is 2 times which I can't quite remember) as we stayed until the parks closed. It is very safe to walk back at night, there was only me and my 13yr old daughter, lots of traffic around and people. I would recommend this hotel to friends.
We have visited this Best Western twice when going to Universal Studios Orlando. While it is pretty standard to the chain, with the 'enhanced' breakfast that the Plus line offers - the location makes a huge difference. The ability to walk or simply drive across the street to the parks is great - also nice to have shops and restaurants within easy walking distance and the area is definitely a little nicer than most of International Drive.
This is an average hotel for Best Western. The pros are great location, we walked every morning to Universal, restaurants basically in the same parking lot. The best thing about this hotel was the staff theywere very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good. The cons, our room had a weird odor like some type of bug repellent lucky you went nose blind to it after a few minutes, the pool was small, the free shuttle bus morning times were not practical, we did ride it back in most evenings and BW was the first stop which was good because it was crowded.
Traveled w/ daughters to Universal. This hotel was surrounded by decent restaurants and shops. Breakfast had many tasty options. Room was quiet and clean. Only glitch was w/ shuttle to/from parks. The first was in AM going to park. I put our name on list the night before and were in lobby 5 minutes b4 scheduled time. The p/u time went by and I asked at counter to be told it had come and gone. I took Lyft, and hotel reimbursed me which was nice. Before we got in Lyft I asked counter where in park to meet shuttle back to hotel. Later, my family stood at designated spot for 1/2 hr- no shuttle. Again took Lyft but no reimbursement. Turns out shuttle was there just NO sign on bus and driver did not tell anyone what he was. That was day 1! Next day, got AM bus, but, again. somehow missed return shuttle! Parks are close enough that hardy souls can walk there, but we ended up taking Lyft to/from day 3. No airport transportation either. Other than that hotel is clean, breakfast plentiful, and located conveniently.
Overall ok for the money but I would look around a lot more before returning. Hotel is dated and all the things you would expect for that price in the area. Rooms ok. We wanted a location that we could walk to or have easy transportation to come and go. This is walking distance for us. It's about a mile each way but after a while coming and going after walking the parks is a bit much. We would typically hit the parks at opening, come back to the hotel during the afternoon and return to the parks in the evening to miss the crowds. You can walk down Vineland to the service entrance to the lowes portofino ride the boat and cut the walk in half although it's about the same time waiting for the boat. We did this on returns several nights. The shuttle was limited at best and highly unreliable so would not count on it at all. We stayed six nights and only one day did everyone who wanted to get on do so. The person at the shuttle desk, not a BW employee or service, was absolutely horrible. He would not check to see if they were going to send a shuttle, which sometimes they didn't, or if it was coming or full. We just wanted to know if we should wait or walk and he would not make a call to give us any info. Don't count on the shuttle. If you are ok with out it you will be ok. Housekeeping was also pretty poor for a long stay. They never came while we were out during the day and would either come late or call late asking if we needed service. We would usually just pick up any supplies we needed from them and they would never clean the room. I am sure this was not a coincidence and they know most people would do the same so intentionally make it late when you just want to chill, not vacate the room for cleaning. We are pretty easygoing so still did fine but if these things will bother you I would look some where else. There are several other places in the same area a little more money but I would look at them more carefully if we return for more then a night or two.
We were here to go to Universal for our 20th wedding anniversary. Beds were fairly comfortable. We were right by the elevator and it was extremely noisy. We made advanced reservations so I'm not sure why we were placed near the elevator, usually those are for walk-ins. We found bugs all over the tops of furniture. I had to throw away several things due to contamination before we saw them. Told the people at the front desk and they acknowledged that they had a problem and offered no apologies or to compensate for contaminated items. They burnt the french toast and the variety of other items was severely lacking. Very disappointed.
Would be a convenient walking location to Universal except that the construction made the first part of the walk very difficult. Once sidewalks are put in it will be nice. Decent free breakfast and clean room. Air conditioner was terribly LOUD and on our last morning four cleaning employees were hovering around the coffee area in breakfast dining room, and a huge cleaning cart parked right in front of elevator made navigation more difficult in an already tight area. There needs to be a break room for them as this was unacceptable.
Staff receives tons of calls as i seen for myself. Several times when i called in they seemed unfriendly i feel it was just an excess of calls all with same questions. Suggest an employee to assist with calls during high phone traffic times. Glad we stayed to find out circumstance. Clean hotel offering lots of amenities families on a budget need. Highly recommend.
The staff here was really friendly and helpful. Great location, with lots of amenities. And a short drive to Universal Studios. Plenty of dining choices within walking distance, which was nice because of all the construction driving was getting frustrating. Excellent breakfast included.
We stayed here overnight to go to the outlet mall before going to a cruise. It was very close to Universal and to the Premium Outlet! Room was clean, so was the bathroom. Friendly staff. Free hot breakfast! Overall, it was a good stay for our purpose.
Staff was very friendly and helpful. Easy drive to Universal. They have a free shuttle, but we did not use it as we wanted the freedom to leave when ready. It is within walking distance but at our age we did not want to try it. We were able to buy our Universal tickets at the hotel.
Very handy to Universal with free shuttle there at set times. Tons of food shops near by with Walgreens as well. Very comfortable with excellent service. Breakfast very good -- great selection. Couldn't fault it any way, Very good value.
Bed was a little soft but the room was very clean and had everything you would need for a short or long stay. Breakfast exceeded expectations. Plenty of choice. The air con unit was quite noisy but kept the room very cool overnight. The staff were very friendly and courteous. 10/10 would stay again!
We have stayed at the Best Western Universal in once before. I reviewed it highly, I have recommended to friends. Being Annual Pass Holders at Universal again, I had high hopes that this would be my go to place for affordable lodging when visiting park. I was WRONG! The place is still affordable, but the cleanliness and upkeep has gone down. The staff was downright terrible. Housekeeping shoved a cart in front of my wife to block her from elevator so she could use it. Had trouble with key cards and front desk blamed me for erasing them with cell phone. Asked for help with key card and couldn't find any staff that spoke English except for front desk. When I asked clerk to get my card working so I could check out of this H***Hole and told her I just might cancel a future reservation, she said "No problem, I'll cancel it now. We don't need you, we will rent the room". I got home, filed a complaint with Best Western Corporate and cancelled the reservation. Got another one right away. Never again.
A very nice hotel, very near to Universal (about a 15-20 minute walk), crossing 2 very busy roads. The hotel shares a parking lot with various other properties, however parking was not a problem at all. The hotel reception was lovely and very helpful, the hotel was clean and the beds very comfortable. We were woken at 5am with massive banging noises which was bins being emptied outside (not good). Overall a nice hotel which was excellent value for money - the breakfast was lovely too, hot scrambled eggs and sausage patties - yum.
My wife and I decided to go to Orlando for 10 days and figured we would give this hotel a try since we seem to have good luck with the best western chain. Hotel had lots of places to eat near by also a Walgreens. This hotel was easy to find. Room was on the bottom floor very clean. Breakfast each morning was great, front desk was pleasant. Very close walk to universal. Did use the pool a few times it was relaxing. Also had a two laundry machines on the second floor along with two dryers. FYI they only take credit card. The only downer with this hotel was the parking situation if you came back late you will have a very tough time finding a parking spot since they seem to share their driveway with other hotels and restaurants. Overall I was impressed and would stay here again for sure
great localization: It is near Universal, you can go walking! this hotel offers free shuttle transportation to SeaWorld, Universal Studios Orlando and more. Staff was friendly, breakfast was good, dining area looked clean. Our room was very nice and clean with 2 queen beds. The bathroom was good. I really have no complaints.
Location was good for an off-site hotel from Universal Orlando. Within the same parking lot there is a Millers Ale House with good food and reasonable prices for a family as well as a CVS for picking up whatever you may need. The room had a microwave and decent sized refrigerator. Only one half of the electrical outlet by the TV worked. You had to unplug the standing light to plug the TV in. The pillows are incredibly small and not firm at all. We stayed at the Best Western Lake Buena Vista just prior to the Universal Inn and their pillows were larger and there was one soft and one firmer pillow to choose from. The room was small. There was not enough room to be able to walk around the two queen beds with four suitcases in the room. We had no issues with this at the Best Western Lake Buena Vista and they were classified as the same type of room. Overall, I would stay here again. We were only in the room to sleep (and watch hockey playoffs!).
Great location and affordable price. Walking distance from Universal Studios. Several restaurants and fast food locations close to the hotel. You will enjoy your stay, clean rooms, free parking, free wifi, hot breakfast, and friendly staff.
i can say, price and location are great. a short walk (15 minutes) to both universal studios. breakfast is ok (eggs, sausage (one day turkey, other day pork), pancakes, waffles, great coffee and juices. for the price and the location everything is ok. the room was relly silent (only noise of air-condition) .... so we slept well ....
My adult family stayed 3 nights at the Best Western Universal Inn in Orlando in April 2018. Having been to the Universal Orlando Parks several times before, we wanted to be able to walk to the park from our hotel without parking in the Univer$al garage. We narrowed our search down to several hotels and settled on the Best Western Universal Inn. The Inn, depending on the traffic lights, was roughly a 15 minute walk from the Northside of Major Blvd and then down the Universal Blvd sidewalk until we hit the Valet Parking checkpoint entrance into Universal Orlando. The Universal Blvd sidewalk is nicely shaded and has a view of the Hard Rock café lagoon. Our hotel room was clean, quiet and roomy and the beds were comfortable. Our breakfast was included and had the typical BW fare enhanced by several hot food selections. I would have given out a 5 star rating except for two things. Parking is tight in front of the hotel. Once a spot opened up, we parked our car there for the duration of our stay. When we checked into the hotel about 10 pm, we asked the night manager some questions about getting to Universal and about the Hard Rock café entrance. In so many words he told us in a brusque manner that it wasn't his job to answer these questions and that we would have to wait for the day guy to get the answers we needed. (He did not say he didn't know the answers to our questions which would have been a different story). Given that this BW has Universal Inn in its name, I would have thought that all hotel employees would be team players in doling out Universal information to their guests or at least have a handout. That said, I would stay at this hotel again. I should note that there is a lot of highway work going on in the Universal area right now that our GPS had a hard time getting us to this hotel on Vineland Road (coming from WDW). Exits that used to exist don't seem to be there now. I would update your GPS maps to assure you have the latest info.
Great Location! Has shuttle to Universal & Seaworld and you can walk to Universal if you like. Restaurants are close and within walking distance. Hotel is clean & staff is friendly. Hot Breakfast is adequate with hot items, yogurt, fruits, cereals etc., and area is kept clean. Close to Camping World Stadium, 6 miles. Very convenient location. Have stayed there 2 times, and will stay there again, Will recommend to friends.
Great location, about a mile walk to Universal Studios. Free shuttle runs twice in the morning to the park, and twice in the evening back to the hotel. I don't think a taxi or Uber would be that expensive, because it is close. There is a Japanese steakhouse, Miller's Orlando Ale House, Golden Corral, Starbucks, Burger King and Walgreens in the same parking lot as the hotel. Once we parked the car we did not have to touch it, until it was time to go home. Free breakfast was nice. We have stayed here before, and we would stay here again.
We stayed for 3 nights as a family while in the Universal area before heading to Disney. Great hotel, good location, comfy room, good breakfast! The pool was also nice and clean and we enjoyed it one morning. We also loved that there were laundry facilities and were able to do a load before heading to the rest of our vacation. We would stay here again!
My family and I stayed here for 3 nights while visiting the nearby parks. The breakfast was great, the coffee was amazing, and the shower had so much pressure! Our rooms were clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful. I would not recommend buying your park tickets from the other desk in the lobby though. As we found out later, the price was already much higher than the park tickets at the gate. I guess you are buying convenience. We would highly recommend this hotel, and would stay here again. The Wifi worked for my husband and me, but my sister's Iphone would not connect.
Room 303 full of bed bugs. we stayed for 2 nights, 04/02/18 to 04/04/18 we had bites all over our bodies. I reported to professional business regulation office and the manager of the hotel, I am waiting for the report by hotel and the government office.
My friend and I stayed here for a couple of nights so we could go to the nearby theme parks. I gave this hotel 4 stars because it accomplished the task of being a place where we sleep at night and was close to where we wanted to go. Otherwise, I'd be leaning more towards giving it 3 stars. The room was clean. The breakfast was adequate. Parking was shared with another hotel and some stores, and I had just hoped I wouldn't get a ticket for not parking in a space that said "Best Western." I didn't so that worked out. I believe the hotel does need some updating however. The elevator shakes a bit, and the decor could be brought into this century. An annoying thing at this hotel is that the TVs are out of sync between audio and image. I don't know if this is a city of Orlando problem, or if the hotel itself has an outdated system. It was on every channel in the room and the channel the breakfast lounge TV was turned to. As others have mentioned, the roads around the area are under construction. GPS still will get you there even if it believes you took a wrong turn. The hotel staff was generally polite and helpful. However, the desk where you can sign up to get the Universal shuttle has one person staffing it in the daytime. I asked him what would be the best exit to get to Magic Kingdom at Disney (as I had read online there were a couple of different ways, and I figured someone from the area would know best). His answer - the Magic Kingdom exit! But it was the way he said it...as if I asked the most obvious question in the world. I gave him a look and explained I had heard there were multiple ways, and he then said the EPCOT exit was best as it was a shortcut through the Disney property. My friend took the shuttle to Universal, and she thought it was fine. However, note the times the shuttle comes by in the morning and in the evening to pick you up from the park. They only give two times in the morning! One is very early - before the parks even open - and the other is about an hour after the park opens! Figure out how you want to navigate that, especially perhaps if you have children with you. I don't know what she did for an hour over at Universal. This place is a place to sleep after a long day at the Orlando theme parks; it is sufficient for that.
This hotel was clean and comfy with a few amenities. Our stay was decent but was far from fancy. It was a moderate value so we did not have super high expectations. We did not receive any maid service so we did not get any fresh towels, etc, but our stay was short, so we made it work.
Room and common areas were clean and attractive. Convenient 20-minute walk to Universal (it's not that much farther from the entrance than some of Universal's parking spaces). And a good value for the price. Rating it 4 stars for the value, and I'd stay here again, but I could do without the “smile, you are being videotaped” signs. Seems like a property like this doesn't need them, so it diminishes the experience. Breakfast was adequate. Had the right stuff (eggs, meat, waffle, cereal, bagels, toast, coffee, juice) but not a particularly good version of any of it. Fitness room has one treadmill, one elliptical, one recumbent bike, one weight machine, plus dumbbells and a yoga mat. It was missing towels, wipes, and cups for the provided water when I was there. Staff was friendly and accommodating, so I could have probably obtained these. Near other hotels, 3 restaurants, a Starbucks, and a Walgreens without crossing the street. Overall, I'd be happy to stay here again.
I booked this based on the positive reviews and have to say I was disappointed. The only upsides to this motel are the Starbucks within walking distance and the proximity to airport and universal. The walk to universal is actually pretty far, took about 25-30 minutes. Hotel itself is not that clean, run down, uncomfortable beds, horrible shower with no water pressure. I hate to have to say but I would definitely not recommend and would not stay again. The price was good but I'd rather pay more for nicer amenities.
Spent four nights here during our Orlando Universal anniversary weekend. Good clean hotel with the most important things to me since when you're in Orlando you don't spend a lot of time in the hotel rooms. Great bed great shower good breakfast and a free shuttle to and from the theme parks.
The Room Was Good. Clean and Comfortable. The check in was the fastest and easiest check in we ever had. The breakfast was good with many choices, including hot items. We used the Shuttle to Universal Studios and it went very well. They were a little late in picking us up, but it was quick and very convenient. Highly recommend the shuttle, so as not to drive in the traffic and save on parking.
We lost our wallet in the swimming pool area later on, when we realized and went crazy, decided to ask at the lobby..... the lady reported that another guest returned it and for my surprise not only my documents were there but all the cash I had inside !!!! super !!!!!!!! very honest place and our stay was great !
Thus hotel is clean and the beds are ok. ( not a fan of harder beds) the price was great for the area with Universal Studios Florida across the street. Food in the same parking lot to include Starbucks. Lobby and guest services were great. If I have 1 bad thing to say is the breakfast seating is a little small. But for the price that is easily overlooked.
Although my stay at this hotel was not overall a bad experience, my lasting response to this hotel is that it should be avoided. I had a very early morning flight that I almost missed because of a late (1 hour late) wake-up call. While I can excuse them for this, as mistakes happen, I am still upset with them. I had prepared for my early morning flight by packing most everything the night before, but this didn't include my phone charger, as I was using it to charge my phone. With my late wake-up call I had one hour to drive to the airport, check in, go through security, and board my flight. In my rush to leave, I left my phone charger/cord in the room. I called to try and get it the next day, and they said sorry, but we didn't find this in your room. So basically someone stole it, or they are lying. Either way this is not a place that you want to stay. I also sent an email to best western customer support, but they did not respond. There are plenty of hotels in Orlando and elsewhere to select from, and with this experience, I will never choose Best Western.
During our stay with our Dutch Baseball team New Porks Baseball we visited Best Western Plus and it was a Homerun. Nice rooms and perfect pool combined with an All you can Eat Breakfast Buffet super 4 our team and a Great location in Orlando and The price is right So Another Great IDEA
Hotel was adequate for a one night stay. Service personnel were pleasant. Breakfast was good with the usual array of selections. Nothing fancy, but for the price it was a good deal. The location was good for a walk over to Universal Orlando which saves the hassle of driving there.
This is the third time we have stayed at this hotel. We enjoy it every time. Again, the staff was extremely pleasant and helpful. The check-in was accomplished with no problems. The room was clean and breakfast was varied everyday. We really enjoyed the turkey sausage. The location of the hotel was an easy walk to Universal Studios. The hotel does offer transportation to and from Universal but we enjoyed the walk.
My spouse and I had a great time at the Best Western Plus Universal location. The location of this BW Plus was only 1/2 mile from Universal Studios which is extremely convenient. The room we had, to include the bed, pillows and furniture was all very comfortable. Breakfast provided was a good mix of hot and cold choices that tasted very good and the hostess was very friendly and helpful. We both had no problem with the WIFI availability and easy to access and speedy. Check in and check out was friendly and fast. For the short time we stayed, we had an excellent time at the Best Western Plus Universal Inn.
My wife and I stayed here March 4 thru March 7 for our Spring Vacation! We loved it! We were able to walk to Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure! Hotel was quite and staff were very nice! A great place to stay in Orlando!
I stayed here with my son last year and we loved it. The place was clean with a fridge in the room and the beds were comfortable. We stayed here because we wanted a place with free breakfast and a free shuttle to Universal Studios.I'm always trying to find ways to save money on vacation. The breakfast was wonderful and the transfers were good as well.
Nice enough place, great for families. The decor was fun so you get the vibe of Disney or Universal. The staff was very helpful. We did find the A/C to be a little lower than we'd like and we were put in a handicap room so the shower was handheld. We has to ask for some blankets as we found it a little cold in the evening. The breakfast was better than most Best Western breakfasts we've tried. Be aware that Uber cannot find this hotel--text them what resturants it is behind to get picked up faster.
When searching for a hotel near Universal Orlando, I was a bit surprised how many charge for parking. Including the Doubletree that is within the same area as this Best Western. So I was very happy to find this Best Western at such an affordable price per night. Ended up staying 4 nights here and very comfortable the entire stay. Room was very quiet and came with a fridge and microwave that was perfect for leftovers. The breakfast was excellent, if a bit crowded, each morning to get us started. The process of renting a scooter here was a breeze. Two days we took the whole scooter to the room to charge and it fit right beside one queen bed next to an outlet. The other day we just took up the battery and left the scooter dismantled in the trunk of our rental car. The only negative is the temperature of the water in the shower. Never got very hot, but wasn't cold either. Odd though, because the water is hot in sink.
I read reviews of every hotel I might stay in so I know what to look for and what is important to me. This hotel looks 10x times better in person on the inside lobby area than in pictures you'll see. The staff was okay one person a man he kinda had a Jamaican accent was really awesome!! Breakfast was good if you aren't picky, the french toast to be honest looked horrible but if they added bacon to the menu that would be great. The breakfast attendants were nice ladies. The elevator is sketchy granted it is not a young hotel it just makes weird noises but it does the job. The room was good very spacious!! We had an issue 20 mins in with the TV but it fixed in no time. The wifi was awesome. The beds were very comfy, The bathroom was clean and even though was a little rust in the tub by the rim it was fine because it is old. Wished we knew all the ice was on the second floor when we checked in cause we had to go on a mission to seek Ice. The BIGGEST problem is parking, which in my mind is sort of uncontrollable when next to another hotel and behind several restaurants but if they use the grass area behind the hotel that could be parking. Overall close to universal not a long walk or Uber, walking distance to lots of restaurants gas station and Walgreens.
Great location walkable if needed. They offer bus transportation at two times there and back. Price was reasonable, comfortable and clean. Breakfast also included. Get rid of dumb resort fees. Terrible practice by hotels! Be up front with your guests and charge rate upfront, without hidden fees.
About 2 miles from Universal. Everyone working there was extremely pleasant and helpful but they can't change the place. The room was "tight" but not the end of the world. The shower faucet was not working properly and difficult to get the proper water temperature. The TV remote was broken and the batteries kept falling out making it almost impossible to operate the TV. We needed heat (cold nights) but the heater in the room did not work. The hotel manager did give us a portable heater but the room heater was either never looked at or not repairable since it was not fixed before we left. The one elevator they have broke down the 2nd day of our 3 day stay and we had to drag our luggage down 6 separate flights of stairs. For $100+ a night I do expect better.
Hotel was good, good location near Universal, you could walk, but we chose to drive, as you need to cross a major highway and it's about a mile. Room was clean, breakfast was good and convenient, son loved the fresh hot waffles. My only complaint was noise. There was a loud noise from some sort of machinery (not the elevator) that went off about every 1/2 hour or so, I must have gotten used to it eventually because I was able to go to sleep, however at about 4:30 am there was loud noises from what I am assuming was a garbage truck and some sort of other trucks beeping and backing up and that was annoying as it woke me up and I couldn't get back to sleep. Other than that I would recommend this hotel, but not the rooms in the front over the lobby, not sure if the rooms in the back were any better!
Visiting my daughter's in laws for the holiday and too many at the household, so we needed to just spend the night. The place was conveniently located. Booked online from my phone with no problems. Received confirmation right away. We checked in very late and had no problem with friendly staff. Room in great shape, comfy beds, plenty of pillows. Very nice stay.
After a week of cruising we wanted to end our vacation with a day at Universal before heading home. The hotel is an ideal choice that is within walking distance of the park and reasonably priced. The hotel offers a free shuttle on a fixed schedule but we decided to take the 15 - 20 min walk instead. The free breakfast is standard but convenient. This is an older hotel with a bright modern looking lobby and relatively large rooms. Bathrooms are roomy with newish fixtures. The negatives... The bed was lumpy along with terrible small lumpy (square-ish) pillows. This is RARE for a Best Western Plus (?). There was also some mold areas on the tile around the tub. Our black out drapes were coming down (one panel had broken hooks). I don't know if this applies to all rooms but the window is not designed to open ( 3 floor). I much prefer to open a window a crack at night rather then listen to a noisy air conditioner/fan all night. Bonus: There are a couple of restaurants, plus a Burger King, a Starbucks, and Walgreens across the parking lot and a McDonalds 2 long blocks from hotel.
Do not try to use a gps to find this hotel as the roads all around are under construction. Be warned that the elevator groans and shakes as it goes up and down. The room was ok just a basic one. We will not stay there again, will find one closer to the airport
The hotel is well located near the Universal entrance, with restaurants and a Walgreens on the same parking lot. The breakfast service is good, and the front desk staff are friendly and helpful. The positives end there. The shuttle service is not convenient - you can choose 7:45am, which gets you to the park an hour before it opens, or you can choose 10:30am and arrive almost two hours after park opening. If you want to get to the park anytime between there, plan on a $10 uber ride. The rooms are tired. They are dimly lit, a la 1987, and the paint and carpet need replacing. The sofas are incredibly uncomfortable - our underweight 8 yr old complained, never mind a heavier teen or adult trying to sleep on it. The sofa is nowhere near the tv, so why not replace it with a daybed or bunks? One other clear sign that the rooms are dated is the severe lack of access to working outlets for plugging in phone chargers, etc. The outlet between the tv and the mini fridge was already overloaded with about five plugs, and there was no access to an outlet by the nightstand - beware, those who travel with a cpap or similar device requiring bedside power. We located one available outlet under the desk, and one under the curtains next to the a/c unit. With three adults and a teenager wanting to charge phones, this is not good. Never mind a business traveler who might need to use a laptop and charge a phone while sitting at the desk, or anyone who wants to charge their phone next to the bed so they can use the alarm. The rooms were clean, although the hallway carpets needed shampooing. There were spots in the carpet from previous stains being removed, which one expects in a kid-centric touristy area hotel, but the carpet was also worn and faded, and needs replacing. Bring socks or slippers.
Stayed here four nights with two teenagers and chose it purely due to its access to Universal Studios. We purchased a three day dual park ticket and got two days free. We booked a family room with two queen beds and a sofa breakfast included. Free car parking. 15 minute walk to Universal Studios. Easy paved walk not a lot a sun protection and it gets hot. Close 3 minute walk across the car park to a supermarket, Starbucks and a few different restaurants. Check in was straightforward. Comprehensive and helpful services desk put us into Boggy Creek Airboat Tours about a 35 minute drive from the motel. Well worthwhile. Good size room, clean with good amenities. Included breakfast was a good way to start the day. Waffles were the winners. Ability to come a go as we pleased back and forth from Universal made this motel a winner for us. Check out went smoothly, staff friendly and helpful throughout our visit. We would stay here again.
The hotel is close to Universal and at a very good cost, however it is a bit date. Our stay overall was good. Staff was very nice and attentive, but the rooms were a bit dated and slightly musty. I wouldn't recommend a long term stay (we stayed 1 night), but it is a good cheap option for a shorter stay.
Nice, clean, modern-looking hotel. Conveniently located. The hot breakfast was wonderful. Staff was friendly and helpful. Express checkout was seamless. Will definitely stay again when I'm in the area.
Front desk was very helpful with check in and room was ready a little early! If Universal Studio is your thing it is right across the street, you can walk or take shuttle. No shuttle to Disney, but location was not far, maybe 10 miles. you can also get Tickets in the Lobby of hotel, which was helpful. Restaurants close Too! That was really nice.
Clean and spacious rooms hot breakfast included with delicious waffles location >>>> amazing, everything you need in a walking distance.....even universal 20 min walk ( but they do have free shuttle in the morning) The staff is super attentive and professional. I will come back for sure and recommend this Best Western!
The furniture is very outdated and rooms are small. The television was the smallest we've had in any hotel. The hallway noise is terrible. When a guest shut there door it slams and can be heard all over the floor. There was no coffee or sugar in the room and we had to go to the front desk to get it. The staff was very friendly. The breakfast was average, but they do have a decent selection.
Stayed 5 nights for a Universal Orlando trip. Hotel is super close to parks. Staff was very, very kind and helpful. Rooms could use updating and the pool is a little small, but great value for the price per night.
I picked this Hotel on the fly just minutes before arriving. I knew it was a Best Western which are usually pretty good, I knew it was less than a mile from Universal (my final destination) and we were getting a fantastic price. I was very surprised and happy to find that the hotel is either new or has been recently updated because everything from the lobby to the hallways to the rooms was very nice, clean and modern. Plenty of towels, clean sheets, plenty of soap with decent sized bars not the ones that disappear in your hands 5 minutes into your shower. There is plenty of free parking, free wi-fi, free hot breakfast with Eggs, waffles, cereals, fruits, breads, juices and coffee until 10AM.. There is a little self service market downstairs with everything including microwavable stuff like pizza's and hot pockets, open all night. Everyone from the staff that I encountered from the front desk to the restaurant were pleasant, effecient and courteous. The hotel is in a nice area and there are other hotels (Marriott, etc.) in the same complex as well as a Starbucks near by, and as I mentioned less than 5 minutes from Universal Studios and Universal Walk. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay here again in a heartbeat.
Clean friendly hotel. Staff was very good. All services were excellent. Breakfast was plenty full, and the area was kept very clean. Room was nice. Bed very comfortable. It rained our last night there and some water came in through the A/C unit and got some the the carpet and some of our clothes wet.But the staff dried them for us. The toilet stopped up twice. But overall I was satisfied, and would stay there again. Check out took about a minute. and they did print me a receipt .
My company prepaid for my room and was not able to check in without some authorization that wasn't brought up til I got there at 9 pm after a day full of driving. Would've been stranded looking for a place to stay if it wasn't for a coworker being able to get my room.
The air conditioning was very loud but worked well. There was some black mould under the soap holder in the shower/tub.Could only see it when taking a bath.We stayed six nights I do not think they changed the sheets. The towels were great.
Everything went as planned. Nice place to stay with friendly staff. Breakfast was excellent. Great location. Within walking distance of restaurants, shops, and stores. I will definitely come back to the Best Western Plus Universal Inn located in Orlando Florida.
The hotel is ideally situated, just 20 mins from Disney's Animal Kingdom. The staff is very courteous and knowledgeable and the compound as well as the rooms are well kept and clean at all times. Convenient self parking and great service from the in house deli as well. All round, great experience. Will definitely recommend.
Not the best/worst Best Western we have ever stayed in. The staff was nice. The building has been here a while. The elevator is clunky, but there. Our room was ok, but a strand of hair on the pillow was a surprise. I would not rate the housekeeping very highly. If it was not for the easy access to Universal Studios, we wouldn't have stayed here. I don't know how this is a Best Western “Plus”.
Our family of 6 stayed here prior to leaving on a cruise. Great location for Universal theme parks as it is an easy walk there. There are restaurants and shops nearby. Hotel was clean, comfortable and the staff was great!
Parking spaces are limited because the hotel shares a parking lot with other places but other then that we loved our stay! It was very close to universal studios and it took us like 20 minutes to get to Disney! Staff was friendly. The room fit our big family perfectly.
Breakfast and Staff were excellent, and room was comfortable. I highly recommend this location as well. It is centrally located and has restaurants and stores within walking distance. A Golden Corral, Millers Ale House, and a Walgreen's all in the same parking lot.
We recently stayed at the Best Western Universal Inn for four nights while in the Orlando area. The location is very close to the Universal theme parks, about 6 minutes drive away, there are plenty of dinning options and a Walgreens within a 2 minute walk from the hotel too Our room was clean, quite and comfortable, check in was quick & easy and the daily complimentary breakfast was pretty decent too. We got a great rate using CAA/AAA and would definitely consider staying here again on future visits to Orlando
Two incidents made our stay unpleasant. 1st there were no towels when we arrived at our room. I had to go to the reception to get them. 2nd we woke to the fire alarm at 2 am. A guest was smoking on our floor.
If you are trying to be close to Universal Studios but are budget-minded, this is a great hotel. Free parking, free breakfast, free shuttle to the parks. We never used the shuttle as we had someone with a scooter (we just walked to the parks each day). Clean hotel, friendly staff, and someone to help you with local attractions. Nothing fancy, but clean and safe. There are restaurants that share the same parking lot as well as a Walgreens to make grab food, snacks, water bottles, etc simple. They also have a small store in the Inn with these items.
Toilet and heater were broke. All the staff was rude, except one lady we talked to. She was the blonde at front desk. The male was rude and told me to park next door because i couldn't find a parking spot.
We wanted to go to Halloween Horror Nights, but didn't want to stay on property. My wife researched and found this property. We would consider it within walking distance to the park. We did cross a busy road, but worth the parking fee savings nonetheless. The hotel was in great shape and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. The breakfast was nice. Would use again if in the area.
Great location, clean rooms, friendly staff, good breakfast options. Convenient to Universal Studios. Hotel shuttle is not as convenient as Universal Super Shuttle, but is also within a 10 minute walk to entrance to park.
rooms are completly outdated no charging ports or even wall plugs to charge your phone. air conditioner barley cooled..Leaked water all on the carpet by air conditioner entire time I was there soaking wet
Great hotel, needs more handicap spaces closer to the entrance, staff are very friendly and helpful. Location to my favorite parks are minutes away, many great restaurants very close by. Overall for the great deals and location of this hotel I will come back again and again.
Really like to stay at Best Western Universal Inn, good price, good location, free parking, free breakfast, free internet (not huge high speed but works fine for some Netflix streaming). Everyone in the front desk I talked with are very helpful all of them speaks spanish so if you´re not a native english speaker you will be understood in Spanish as well and I can bet they have someone that can speak a little portuguese as well. Free to ship items from Amazon for instance to the hotel so you can make online purchases and they will hold the items for you. Very close to universal and in a very good location with restaurants at walking distance where you can have some beer and not worry about DUI ! ;) I do recommend to everyone.
My husband and I checked in after 10 pm and from the moment we checked in the staff (Marina at the front desk) was so kind and helpful evening offering us hot cocoa (because we are not coffee drinkers. The room was wonderful, clean, spacious. The bed was so comfy. I recommend everyone stay at Best Western. They are the Best.
We arrived at this location late Wednesday evening Aug 23, 2017, for a family vacation. Adjusted the AC and pretty much went straight to bed, long day driving. Out early the next day and after returning to the room that evening we noticed the AC didn't seem to be functioning properly but again went to bed. Woke up sweating due to how hot it was in the room and spoke with the front desk first thing Friday morning and voiced our issues. Was told they would check it and make repairs. Long story short we slept in the sauna for 2 more nights. Spoke to the front desk again when checking out, same clerk I reported the problem to acted as if she had no clue until I advised her that I reported it to her and pointed to the date book she wrote the complaint and our room number in and she turned right to it. All I got was "I'm sorry did they not come fix it?". Final result was we got 10% off our bill, wasn't enough in my opinion, but still very disappointed with the conditions and the staffs attention to the matter.
We were a group of 24 people and stayed here for 3 days the staff was courteous and helpful. The rooms clean and organised. comfortable beds and a balcony to add on a view to the pool. Long corridors and some interconnecting rooms. Overall a nice stay with easy accessibility to all major attractions.
The hotel was very suitable to our needs: clean, reasonable price, excellent breakfast for a morning kickstart, close to the venue, and helpful and knowledgeable staff. [Note: "Excellent" has to be reserved for a higher priced facility.]
We have stayed in the hotel for 7 nights in the second half of August ( family of 5). The hotel is not fancy but close to Universal ( 15 min walk but they have shuttles too). Next to a food court and supermarkets. There is a very big outlet center near by with most of the favorite brands. The staff is very nice the beds are good. It was clean and functioning ( not fancy or very new). Worth the money.
Excellent accommodations, only a block away from Universal Studios. Free breakfast, shuttle bus to the parks and good restaurants on the same block. The rooms were clean, staff was very attentive. Overall a solid place.
This Best Western was very nicely decorated and spaciously accommodating for the large flow of guests. (I would also like to add that Universal Orlando was within walking distance to the motel in addition to a shuttle that was offered if you did not want to drive, otherwise, the parking fee is $20 in the parking garage at Universal.) Upon checking in, the counter attendant was very friendly and processed our reservation both professionally and with a smile . The room was very clean and modern with newer carpeting and furnishings, tastefully decorated, had a larger bathroom, refrigerator, microwave, and all of the normal amenities in a room. The beds were very comfortable with 4 pillows to each bed. Sleeping was not a problem! Breakfast included sausage links, scrambled eggs, French toast sticks, waffles, biscuits and gravy, a yogurt machine with toppings, fruit, cereal, breads and muffins coffee, milk, and juices. It was all very fresh and delicious, and the breakfast attendant was always on her toes with a smile keeping everything replenished. There was a representative located in the lobby with information, coupons, tickets, and maps to many of the attractions . This came in very handy when we had a snafu with our plans one day. He was also very accommodating with ideas on how to spend the day! At the end of the day, we jumped in the outside swimming pool and the water temperature was perfect!!! I highly recommend this motel for your stay in Orlando. It was also very equitably priced for the area.
By the price you pay, this hotel offers much more than I ever could expect Clean rooms, excellent location, staff super attentive, polite, helpful and always smiling, great breakfast >>> I felt like my home! Just keep in mind, If you want a perfect place PAY for it Just compliments for Best Western so far!!! Loved it
Great location to walk to Universal - however the optional transportation to Universal isn't worth it (not enough times available). Pool was dirty. Outlets were loose (plugs kept falling out). Exercise room was EXTREMELY HOT. Bed next to air conditioner very cold - hard to level out the coldness in the room
The people behind the desk don't care about their guests. My lost luggage was deliverd to them from the airport with my name and tel number on it on july 14th, and they haven't even informed me about the delivery so in ingnorance I checked out july 15th without my luggage and it was only on july 21st when I was in Key west, that I was informed via my home counrty that they had my luggage. This is incompetence and bad will. A customer caring person should give a call to the owner of the luggage. The guests are only cash providers and numbers; Nothing else.
We were pleasantly surprised by how nice the hotel was for the low price we paid. The breakfast was as good as advertised. The only complaint was there were not enough tables for breakfast and there was a sign that said we could not take the food to our rooms, so my husband and I and our four children had to stand around the ends of the counters to have a place to eat. We would definitely stay here again.
Me and my family had a great stay at this hotel. Restaurants within walking diatance. Super close to Universal park. Great free shuttle service to/from the parks. Good breakfast included with hot pankages and waffles.
We had a great experience at the Best Western. The hotel was clean and in a safe area. It was right across from the Universal Studios parking garage. It was easy to find and close to restaurants and other shops. It was a 15 minute walk to the park which saved us $20 a day for parking fees. The free breakfast was very good. We never had trouble finding seating for breakfast. They had shuttles to the parks but we did not use them. The staff was extremely nice and very willing to help. I would definitely stay here again.
great location near everything grocery, restaurants and theme parks, great breakfast, large rooms, excellent shuttle service, whole family loved it. Very clean and has convenient laundry facilities inside !
We just returned from our first trip to Universal Studios Orlando, and this hotel. The location is great. It is just across the street from the main road entrance to Universal. You can walk to the park, but it is still a little hike in 90+ weather. The parking garage for Universal is less than a mile away. There is a shuttle to the park from the hotel, but because our schedule was different than it we never could use it. The hotel it's self is comfortable, and freindly. The staff was helpful, and both check-in and out were smooth. The room was large, and we needed this for a family of five. There were two queens and a pull out sofa in this room. The beds were mostly comfortable, except for the pillows. They were hard and lumpy (bring your own), they need to be updated. The biggest issue was with the A/C. It worked well, but it blew directly on to the bed closest to the unit without any way of diverting the air. This made for a very cold sleep for anyone in that bed. It is just a poor set up on the location of the bed and A/C unit. I raised the filters in the unit up to divert the air upward, and that helped the situation. Overall the room was clean and comfortable. The free breakfast was good and plentiful. The food was fresh and the young lady who took care of it made every feel welcomed. She took the time each morning to say hello to me, and ask if there was anything that she could do for me. There are a good number of choices at the breakfast, so you have no reason to go hungry. I booked this hotel directly through Best Western to get the best rate. The rate was les than some of the popular booking sites. I also took advantage of the current promotion through using my AAA membership, and will receive $20 Best Western gift cards for each night of our stay. No AAA members will only get $10 per night. Nice place to stay, close to Universal, big rooms, good breakfast. Would stay here again.
Loved the location and rooms were nice and clean. Breakfast was excellent. The lobby was welcoming and the staff was very friendly. I recommend families to use this hotel!!! We will defiantly be back!!!
Great Hotel friendly staff clean rooms. Nice breakfast. Close to Universal Studios walk or take shuttle. Restaurants close and other stores. would stay here again. price was right Twenty minute drive to Disney world. sea world close
Upon check-in we noticed the room was not cooling off quite as quickly, and comfortably as we would have liked. The clerk gave us the fan she was using for her own comfort immediately, and allowed us to get the kind of rest we needed after a long day at Universal Studios.
The hotel is a bit dated but the staff and amenities are excellent. Very good breakfast with several staff always on hand. Great location within walking distance to Universal Studios. Close to International Drive. Excellent staff. The internet wasn't working and the hotel staff called their help center who talked to me and fixed the problem. No more internet problems from then on.
The hotel staff as very pleasant. The breakfast was extremely good. While other hotels offer a continental breakfast usually, best western provided a hot meal. We had fruits, eggs, pancakes and waffles and yogurt. There was also eggs and sausages which I did not partake of. I did not have time to use the pool. The hotel is in an extremely good location with many restaurants across the street It was about 20 minutes from Epcot. However, it is closer to Universal and Magic Kingdom. They offer a shuttle bus to to and from those two parks several times a day at no charge.
Very happy to have spent 11 nights in a hotel that felt home . We recommend this hotel which was reasonably priced. The staff is always smiling and very helpful. We hope to return if we visit Orlando again .
We stayed at this hotel just before March break. We were able to walk to universal studios. There are stores & restaurants near by. Breakfast was adequate. Parking was available, but the lot was pretty full due to a fish show.
Awesome hotel with helpful staff and Fantastic breakfast. Beds and showers could use an update but everything was clean and up to typical Best Western quality. No better hotel for the price in the area. You will not be disappointed
Well placed for Universal. Hotel provides free shuttle. Easy access to I4 and other parts of Orlando. Pool is pleasant but limited sitting area. Bathrooms well kept and ample towels etc Breakfast more than sufficient for hungry teenagers
Nice big spacious room. There's a safe in the room, but you can't use it since battery is low. House keeper won't replace the ice bucket bag. The hotel is really outdated, the power outlets are along the wall and the space between the walls and bed are so far apart, charging devices on the floor. No power outlets are conveniently near the bed or table. Complimentary breakfast 7-10, not the best selection provided. The attendant at the dining isn't the friendliest beware. They shut down everything before 10.
The check-in process was a breeze and the front desk staff were great. Our room was good. We did have a few issues but were taken care of. The breakfast included made things easy in the morning before we all took off to the parks. Shuttle service available and was reliable. Did take an Uber a could of times due to our extended time at the parks. Hotel was close to Universal studios and made for quick travel times.
The room was pretty nice except the fan in the bathroom did not work. The pillows were not very comfortable either the bed quality was so so. the appearance of the room was very nice and it was a very easy check in. The hotel was very convenient to Universal Studios.
Overall very good quality for the price. But don't purchase tickets for Universal or anything else in the hotel, no matter what the guy is telling you, you'll pay less on the web or at the theme park entrance. Hotel is clean and breakfast is OK. Highly recommended.
No issues, stayed there after Disney world as a layover to drive home. Very close to Universal Studios and has shuttling. Pool looked nice, did not have time to experience. Very nice sized room and friendly staff.
We booked way back in January for our summer trip over the phone and they were very helpful and everything went as arranged. The desk staff was super friendly and fun to chat with. Breakfast was good and the make it yourself waffles were very good. Thank You and I recommend this hotel to anyone headed to Universal.
The best staff and customer service we have ever had. Everyone went out of their way to make our stay great. Ester was a fabulous hostess in the breakfast area and exceeded our expectations. Thanks all
Good location, can walk to Universal City Walk, Islands of Adventure, and Studios. Has free complete breakfast and shuttle service to and from Universal Parks. There is a Walgreens, Starbucks, Golden Corral, Kobe Steak House, Gift Shop just a walk across the parking lot. The hotel lobby is very welcoming, has a nice modern update look as do the guest rooms. Clean environment. Good location for family and friends.
Nice hotel in a great location for Universal Studios (within walking distance). Hotel has an adequate breakfast and a shuttle that runs 2 times in the morning and 2times in the evening. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. There are restaurants, a Walgreens and a Starbucks in the same lot as the hotel. Overall...a good place to stay.
I chose this hotel to be close to Universal Studios. I was surprised at the lack of quality. The bed provided was horrible. I felt like I hadn't slept at all the next morning. The breakfast choices were poor and the sausage tasted extremely bad. I moved to a different hotel after one night's stay.
We've stayed at the Best Western Plus Universal Inn twice now when in Orlando to attend a church-planters conference at nearby First Baptist Church. The property is fine. Breakfast is the usual hotel fare. There's a Starbucks within easy walking distance and a pool for cooling off at the end of the day. My low rating is because I left three items of clothing behind, having neglected to check the closet as we were packing and leaving. When I realized this, two days later, I didn't worry. I'd done this once before and, when I called, that hotel had simply shipped my left-behind clothes to me. Not so here. The person who took my call said she'd check with housekeeping and lost-and-found. She called back to say, "No, we didn't find them." That means either the housekeeper (whom I tipped all three days) didn't check the closet and a subsequent guest took my clothes or the housekeeper took them. I snail-mailed a letter to the manager to apprise him or her of what had happened and didn't receive a response. Had I received a response to my letter, I wouldn't be writing this review. I know that no one can prevent every bad occurrence at a business this size. But a response and perhaps an apology would have been nice. You probably won't have this experience -- you're probably more careful than I. But I wanted to note this somewhere.
Eating breakfast at the hotel can save you money. The Trolley is located near the hotel. Trolley will take you to various location shop, eat and amusement park. You don't have to rent a car or take Uber. Great location!
If you want a relatively cheap hotel to visit Universal Orlando this is ideal as its right opposite the parks entrance! Overall it looks a little tired and is maybe showing its age, however it is a very clean hotel with pleasant staff and is decent value for money, free breakfast is a good start to the day too.
The hotel staff are professional, friendly and always ready with a smile and information. Rooms are clean and beds are comfortable, breakfast is free and as good as can be for a group of people. The variety is wide and choices are plenty.
Perfect for a few nights when visiting Universal if you are like me and want to spend most of your time at the parks. That's not a knock on the hotel at all. Room was clean and service excellent, offering exactly what you should expect from a hotel of this type: a good night sleep in a clean room. Unlike other nearby hotels there is no bogus resort or parking fee. Definitely within walking distance of the park in my opinion, so save a few bucks and have a short peaceful walk instead!
The shuttle to the Universal Resort is a joke (only runs twice a day to the park (over an hour before park opens and 2 hours after it opens). BUT it's only a .8 mile walk to City Walk from the hotel door. It's a pleasant walk, you do have to cross two large roads but there are crosswalks and it was easy to cross. Rooms were clean. Breakfast was iffy, not fully cooked biscuits, the sausage gravy was terrible, but other stuff was okay.
The hotel was very clean, had all the amenities and is very convenient to Universal Studios. They even have a shuttle, if needed. My daughter forgot a razor and toothbrush, and they happily provided them for her. The staff was very friendly.
Great hotel for your stay in Orlando. It is accross the street from universall studio's theme park (10 min walk ) and about a 20 min drive to the Disney parcs. Hotel is located near International Drive with all its shops, bars, restaurants and the premium outlet shopping centers. The hotel offers a great breakfast buffet in the Morning. Unfortunately the hotel doesn't have a restaurant to have dinner. There is a small pool area and a small gym where you can relax or workout. This hotel is a great base for your trip to Orlando.
In order to attend a funeral for a dear friend's mom, I booked this hotel for my wife based on TripAdvisor reviews, location, and cost. More hubby points in the account. Here's what she told me: A, it was easy to find. B, restaurants were within walking distance. C, the staff was friendly and helpful. D, the rooms were very clean and well cared for. My wife was left a form where you could request which cleaning services you needed for the next day. E, she felt safe. F, the room was affordable and a real value. She's not one for sending motel room pictures. She sent 3, thanking me for picking the hotel and remarking about the quality of her room. The Shuttle to Universal had her thinking about another stay. This evening at dinner I was "encouraged" to leave this review so the staff would know their efforts were recognized.
This was a very nice hotel and convenient to both Disney and Universal. Plenty of restaurants near by including some night life. Do be careful though, while we were there someone had left a backpack in the backseat of their car and it the passenger side windows were busted out both front and back and it happened between 7 and 9 am.
We stayed here for our Universal trip and it worked out great. We got the two day two park hopper pass through AAA which saved about $15 per ticket and it came with two extra days which we took advantage. The hotel is about 1 mile from Universal so we enjoyed the walk everyday, or if you don't want to walk it they do have a shuttle that's free but you have to sign up for it. The front desk at check in was very nice and so was the others we seen there throughout our three night stay. The hotel is in great condition other than some of the tiles in and around the bathroom. Breakfast was a average hot motel breakfast with a decent sitting area. There's a Walgreen's, liquor store, Burger King, Golden Corral, Miller's Ale House, and Kobe Japanese Steakhouse all in the same parking lot which works out great! If your going to Universal this is a great place to stay and much more economical than any of the Universal hotels.
I wanted to stay at one of the official universal hotels but their prices were absurd and this hotel is in same general area. Easy 15 minute walk to universal with sidewalk the whole way. Plenty of restaurants nearby. Walgreens was right nearby where. Could get some sunscreen. Breakfast was typical hotel buffet. Not bad, not the best. For me it was all about having a good hotel in a great location and this fit that bill. Would definitely stay again!
We came with a group of high school seniors. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. We had 8 rooms and they made sure we were all close to each other on the same floor. The breakfast was good. The hotel was close to all the places we wanted to go. It was a plus that a Walgreens was right across the parking lot for snacks, drinks, souvenirs, and other misc. things. Great that the rooms had microwaves and refrigerators.
Better than most but poor staff Hotel not bad but not great. Had to remade room twice Could have stayed anywhere But try to stay at best western I didn't have a bad breakfast but I am certain the points I used were wasted
The rooms were great and the service was good the pool was clean and the breakfast was good everyone went out of their way to make our stay wonderful we went to Disney world and bought our tickets right inside of the hotel
The positives: easy walk to Universal, free parking, free breakfast, microwave and refrigerator in room, laundry facilities available, next to Walgreens if you want to buy snacks or other items The negatives: nothing too significant -- hotel just has an "older" feel to it and hallways are kind of dark and dank I would choose to stay here again if I was visiting Universal.
Rooms nice with comfortable beds BUT the room is definitely on the small side. Very clean. Service people are fine. Pretty inexpensive. Breakfast is ok. 10 minutes by shuttle or 20 minute walk to Universal Studios. It might take longer by shuttle since it stops at other hotels.
This was a really nice, clean, quiet hotel to get fully rested for the park. Really comfy mattresses, and the free breakfast is also great. We had to do some changing around of our reservations when we got there (to stay one night at a resort to get fast pass privileges) and they were very accommodating and friendly. My only advice is that you not count on the van taking you to the park, or take your patience if you are. It was a little rough, there were too many of us, people were getting testy, and there were only two departure times. You had to stand and hold your spot while hoping no one stood in front of you, which meant you had to wait a while for the van to return. Sign-up for it was confusing. Also, where you get dropped off is a pretty long walk from the parking deck (I think for every shuttle) so I would recommend walking if you can, as it's not that much further really. It's not all that far, and it's beautiful walking by all of the resorts, bamboo, river, etc. There is a huge road to cross but it has a cross-walk and wasn't a problem. Of course you hate to add to your walking when you're spending all day at Universal, but for what we paid it was a great trade-off. We thought it was worth the savings for a really nice budget hotel close to Universal.
The primary purpose of our stay was to go to Universal. Universal is in walking distance and we did walk to the parks everyday but it is a bit of a walk-maybe 20-30 minutes. The hotel itself was clean and up to date. The breakfast options were adequate and the area was busy-especially considering most were heading to the parks. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean. Overall, a great value.
Front desk workers didn't know correct information about the services they provide. 3 times we were given incorrect information that we used to make arrangements based on that information. Then we needed to make additional arrangements being that what we were told was not correct. When we expressed our frustration with the circumstances that we were left in, the front desk workers neither apologized or actively sought to solve the problems that occurred due to the incorrect information they provided. When asked to speak to the manager on duty, we were told that he was not there. So there was no higher authority to whom we could speak.
I went to the Best Western Plus Universal Inn and I really liked how their hotel was decorated. They have a mini lounging area and offer travel service. If you don't eat animal products, try bringing in your own breakfast or try to find a vegan restaurant within the Orlando area. The pool is accessible, clean, and enjoyable. The reason why I liked the pool was because it was a very crisp blue color and it had a beautiful view of a palm tree. The rooms are well-kempt and taken care of and the colors offer a bright color to add to your day. The hotel is within driving distance to Universal Orlando and was probally one of the best hotels I ever been to.
This place is a dump and it is what gives BW hotels a bad name. The reception was very dirty with stained furniture and area rug. The bedroom had old, heavily scratched and broken furniture. The toilet was not in working order so we called for maintenance and were told that there was no service available but that the front desk clerk would bring a plunger. Upon delivering the plunger we asked if she had a receptacle to place it in after use, and she said just to leave it anywhere in the bathroom, so we laid it on a towel. When we expressed our dissatisfaction with the condition of the hotel and room, the clerk simply said that we could check out and she would give us a credit. We told her we had been driving fro 12 hours and it was close to 11pm and were exhausted and she said that is all she could do for us. Frankly, the Florida Department of Health should inspect this facility.
We love Best Westerns gor there quality and value and breakfast too. This Best Westerns decor was so beautiful and inviting! The Front Desk staff could not have been more helpful with everything from Tickets to the park, to replacing my lost room card and even replacing my toothbrush that i must have accidentally thrown away. It is a fantastic location set back from the road with free parking, many eateries and walking distance to Universal Studios. A++++++
We stayed here for a concert at the Hard Rock Live. The hotel was very clean and nice. There are restaurants within walking distance. We took uber to Universal from the hotel for the concert. The hotel shuttle is not available for this. There is a breakfast included with your stay however, we did not eat it. We did try the coffee (which is always available) and it was very good! We enjoyed our quick stay and would stay here again.
Most employees were extremely efficient and friendly. Great proximity to Universal Studios, shops, and restaurants. Breakfast was nothing to write home about, but it was sufficient. Overall, we enjoyed our stay there. It wasn't bad for the price, and we were able to book a room for five people which is sometimes difficult to find.
The staff were kind and friendly, the rooms were so clean and very appealing. Shuttle to and from Universal with great time options was awesome and very prompt. Breakfast was delicious! We very much appreciate staying at this clean hotel after a bad experience the first couple of nights on our trip
Had great time at best western hotel stays. Everything was the way it should be. Great staff and clean rooms. Service was great and in orlando shuttle to and from universal studios was great. As a family we enjoyed our stay and would do again.
the hotel was fine. clean. everything worked. there was breakfast and i ate it. however you may be picking up on the fact that i'm not all that fussy. if you are super fussy, you may want a fancier place.
My husband and I stayed here for a couple of days on a kid free trip. The hotel and room were clean and comfortable. The breakfast selection was good, hubby said he thinks they used powdered eggs but that was his only complaint. The hotel is located in a parking lot. It's kinda hard to find the first time. There are several restaurants and a pharmacy within walking distance. Universal Studios/Islands of Adventure is a mile away, easily within walking distance. However I am not sure that I would recommend the walk for those with health problems or those with small kids. It's not a bad walk heading to the parks, but after all day walking around the parks it's a little rough. There are side walks and cross walks all the way to the parks and we never felt unsafe. I have no complaints and would probably stay here again!
We found this Hotel because or first choice was a bust! When we arrived with no reservation the gentleman at the desk was Amazing and so helpful. He found us a room for 2 nights it was so clean and friendly. There's also a shuttle to Universal Studios. As a travel agent I will recommend you. The resteraunt was u Der going changes, but still very good. There is also a quick mart inside. Love Love this Hotel close to other resteraunt's and a Walgreens.
We spent one night here. Really was impressed with staff, and location. It is near a.very good restaurant that you can walk to. Perfect for a visit to Univeral Studios. We had no trouble getting to the airport.
The hotel provided a good location near the Universal Studios parks & they provided a free shuttle to take you there. Although the shuttle itself was a bit dodgy (shabby & hard to get in & out of). The hotel provided good accommodation - plenty of room & comfortable beds. An OK continental breakfast is provided - but I didn't like the breakfast area - too cramped & was difficult to move around in when there were a few people down for breakfast.
This place was just what we needed for our overnight stay in Orlando to see the Blue Man Group. Comfortable beds, clean room, convenient location, and breakfast and coffee in the a.m. Our room had a stale odor when we first got in but once we kicked on the air it cycled and got better. Even after we left and came back it was fine. Kind staff... We would stay again...
If you are a big family with kids to entertain, you will probably want one of the resorts but if you're just there for a few days at Universal studios - this is the place to stay. Nice staff, good free breakfast (limited but substantial...it's not a resort), good places to eat in the area and a very informative concierge. Most valuable that many smaller hotels don't have is a work station to print boarding passes/online airline check in. The only down side is that 10-12 hours is a long time to stay in the park but the shuttle doesn't allow for anything otherwise. But the good news is that it IS close enough to walk and the path is lovely. I would definitely recommend it to anyone! Just for information, they don't have airport service but the Mears buses run 24/7 so it's the next best thing.
You don't have to leave the complex, some very good selections of restaurants in the complex adjacent to the property. Rooms were clean and quiet. Great value, good location. Would definitely stay again with the family.
This is a great hotel! The location is very very good! So close to universal park and the international premium outlet! Have a supermarket, burger king, and other restaurants next to the hotel too.... the breakfast was very good every day and in the reception Andi is so so great and helpfull!! She give us a very great welcome and answer all our doubts in our stay! Thanks a lot for all!! ??
The staff was very friendly, the room was very clean and so was the entire building. Plenty of clean towels and face cloths. Bed was very comfortable and clean. Check in was quick and easy and so was check out. Also included was an awesome free hot and cold breakfast buffet. Great stay and close to Universal Studios. Would stay again on my next visit to Orlando. Highly recommend!
Very convenient stay, walking distance to Universal. Enjoyed a hot breakfast. Helpful, professional staff; willing to accommodate special requests. I would do it again and recommend to friends and family.
We were stranded in Orlando for 3 days due to a cruise ship delay because of Hurricane Matthew. I booked a room at this hotel on my phone via the ship's internet so basically it was an unknown - little time to check amenities or reviews. I couldn't have been more satisfied. Close to Universal. Very spacious rooms, excellent service, and the rate was incredible!
Horrible service and room not as clean as it should be, kind of smelt moldy, as well as very uncomfortable beds. Breakfast is okay but nothing special. Pool did not look to good so we did not bother using it. Workers are incompetent and rude. I have stayed at much better Best Western than this one, just disgusted! We got stuck in the elevator for 45 minutes the first morning we were there and it was getting to the point where I almost passed out as there was no air vents and beaming hot lights in the elevator. I would of been rushed to the hospital if the Fire department did not get there when they did thanks to my husband having his cell phone on him and calling 911 three times, who knows what would of happened to us if he did not have his phone. The staff at this hotel could not even get the door open or have the capability of calling 911 to get us help. There seem to be no maintenance workers there to help us either. Once we got out of the elevator do you think we got a 'How are you or sorry', no we got them trying to tell the fire department it was our fault we were stuck. And then we find out they had elevator issues the week before. Very horrible manners. They would of left us their to rot if it was up to them. Stay away from this hotel if you want to have a safe and happy vacation!
We stayed here for 4 days and the hotel was the best place to rest during the night and have fun at the parks during the day. The beds were very comfortable. We plan on staying here in the future when we visit
Building and facilities are in good working condition. Due to lack of proper ventilation it has an oder. This seems to be a general problem with Best Western Hotels. I do not know if some kind of regulation for sealed windows but it would help if it were possilbe to get some freh air inside. The Staff is very friendly and helpful.
No complaints about the hotel or its staff. Everyone was very helpful for the two night stay. However I'd avoid the ticket sales person (especially of its a guy named David). We arrived early to drop our bags off before checking in and the ticket sales guy aka David asked us how many nights we were staying. We called ahead to confirm we could purchase our tickets here which we were told would be discounted. We needed both universal parks + the haloween night. However David and his manager tried to charge us twice as much for the haloween tickets claiming it was the best deal offered to non Florida resident's. We didn't thing that was right and confirmed with Universal directly. David gave us our refund but very rude telling us we were wrong. I've never met anyone know the hospitality industry give us a hard no like he did several times when he was the one wrong. He had bad prices, bad information and bad customer service. Avoid him at all costs or do your research before purchasing from them. They basically up charge what they call "discounted tickets". We ended up purchasing our regular universal park tickets from him and purchasing our add on haloween tickets at retail price at the park gates. I've stayed on resort before and their concierges are 200% better than here.
The staff at this hotel goes beyond to make your stay a great experience. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a clean and friendly environment. When I return to Orlando I will most likely stay again.
We stopped here for the night before we were to fly our of Orlando. It was okay. There was supposed to be a hot breakfast but unfortunately, the employee was late getting there so there wasn't anything to eat except cereal or stuff for the toaster. A little disappointed with that. The room was clean though so that was a positive.
We love this hotel and always stay here. Andie, Carla, Corrine the front desk ladies are WONDERFUL, friendly, and professional.. The manager Sam does a fine job with his staff and pitching in when needed. I am in the hotel business myself and know when it is done right. The rooms are very clean, the breakfast staff works very hard to keep the food items fresh and area tidy(which is a challenge at times). I will even go as far to change my travel plans if they are booked. The staff was great during the hurricane at putting the guests at ease. Highly recommend this hotel!!!!
First time at this hotel....very close to convention center where my meetings were. Bus/trolley stop very close nearby. Also had shuttles to area attractions - but we sometimes drove given the timing of some of the shuttles. Very friendly staff. Comfortable room with usual amenities. No problems encountered during stay.
Good clean hotel in a good location, there was plenty of shops and eating places within walking distance. The hotel staff friendly and helpful. There was a good choice of food for breakfast. Would definitely recommend
We stayed at this Best Western for 4 nights. It was a great location and a good value for the money. A free shuttle was provided to Universal at set times in the morning and evening. It was within walking distance if you wanted to leave the park in the afternoon. The pool was very refreshing after a long hot and humid day at the park.
I chose this hotel for its proximity to a reunion location. I was pleased in every respect. The room was clean and in good repair. Convenient location. I wanted to stay there again this year, but they were booked during my stay.
When we first entered the room, I noticed there was a piece of food on the floor, but dismissed it as accidents and oversights happen on occasion and the carpet also felt dirty. We then experienced ants in our room every night of our stay, with no food or drinks being left out. Swarming in the bathroom and up the door mouldings and along the counter. I informed the desk many times. I was told they would "spray" Thursday while we were out. We still saw a few Thursday night and by the time we returned on Friday evening they were crawling all over our backpack that was on the couch, all over the microwave and refridgerator cabinet and the T.V. cabinet. I went down again and told the desk worker. He simply complained that he was annoyed that why did people complain while he was on his shift. No offer to do anything except to "leave a note" for the morning crew. My daughter also saw a spider in the pull out bed. I've stayed in many hotel rooms over the years, as my kids play travel sports. I have NEVER experienced any type of bug until now. This hotel needs a thorough cleaning and pest eradication. And I will never stay here again and am hesitant to stay at any Best Western in the future.
The only thing I do not like is the hot water at the breakfast buffet. It is too high. Can not see inside the cup while filling it with very hot water for tea. A law suit waiting to happen. Why can't they have it eye level like the coffee. Good chose of food at the buffet. Everything else was great. Close to Universal Studios, East walk to it. Area seems pretty safe.
We stayed at this hotel while getting our college student settled in at school. We unexpectedly ended up having to add 2 extra nights to our stay and the staff worked to make sure we were accommodated. The hotel was very busy, so I was grateful that they could help. The room was very clean and comfortable. We loved the beds. It was nice to have during a stressful week.
Its basically across the street from Universal, has a shuttle bus to other Orlando attractions, offers free & pretty good breakfast and very affordable! What else could you ask for! Our room was very clean -- gym was decent and pool area a little shabby! If you are on a budget this is a great place to stay for your Orlando vacation! One night here is cheaper than your entrance fee to Universal or Disney! Plus the area its in has several places to chose from to eat plus there's a Walgreens right there as well if you need to pick up drinks or snacks for your room! I would stay again in a heartbeat!
Same distance as staying on property. We walked to the park to save the 20$ universal charges. Also has a free shuttle. The breakfast here makes the stay worth it. Just as good if not better than your local breakfast spot. Cleanish rooms. Needs some maintenence. You get what you pay for. Friendly welcoming staff.
We stayed here for 2 night. Don't break the bank and save for other activities. Taking an Uber to Universal is 5 buck and you don't have to leave without breakfast ( very good variety) Come back to a nice comfy bed.
Although the corridors and rooms are a bit dark and outdated, everything else about the hotel is brilliant. It is exceptionally good value for money and in a fantastic location. Universal is a easy pleasant 12 min walk from the hotel. There is also the added bonus of a free breakfast every day which really is excellent with delicious sausages and egg and selection of drinks. Also great is the fact that you can get free coffee from the kitchen machine any time of day. Good fast free WiFi. Great friendly service. They even let us stay in our room for free a few hours part check in time. We would definitely return here when coming to Universal again.
We have stayed at this hotel a few times as it is a good value hotel in an excellent location. The breakfast area has recently had a refit which works very well, there is now more seating. The rooms are a little dark but very clean, reception told us that they are planning to refurbish the rooms at the end of the year. There are a few restaurants within walking distance of the hotel and it is about a 20 minute walk to Universal Studios.
Always woke to a hot tasty breakfast after a good nights sleep in a comfortable bed. Hotel was clean and inviting. The staff was professional and friendly. The man at the guest services desk selling tickets for the parks also gave us great tips and pointers about how to take full advantage of our time in the parks and how to get to and from them so that it save us time, money, and energy! If we went back we wouldn't stay anywhere else!!!
My last visit in April 2016 was my 2nd, and both times I've had a great experience. The price is very reasonable especially when you take into account it's close proximity to Universal Studio's AND that you get a full free breakfast. The room is comfortable, the staff is friendly and helpful, and we enjoyed the availability of having a shuttle to take us to and from Universal, so no parking fee. There are quite a few restaurants within walking distance as well. Would gladly stay again.
We greatly appreciated the kindness, warmth and hospitality provided by the staff. The breakfast was delicious! The rooms were comfortable, extremely clean and spacious! We are looking forward to our next trip to Orlando and will definitely be staying here again! Thank you!
Has everything I need & I never have a problem.. They treat me great & it's perfect for what I do ???? Sammy is the GM & the staff go out of there way to accommodate our needs .. Why would we go anywhere else.? Clean, convenient & nice ??
We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights while visiting Universal Studios. The hotel is really conveniently located, just a 20 min walk from the gates. Free breakfast, free wifi, and spacious rooms meant we would definitely stay again. The price we paid represented good value for what we got.
I stayed at this hotel a year ago, and I am sad to say it is nothing like it was. It was (a year ago) a very great place. This year, not so much. Check in was very difficult. The front desk was not kind and tried very hard to make me look like an idiot every second she could. We had to check out and check back in during our stay, which also took fifteen minutes. The rooms have not been renovated, our door would not close properly (you had to slam it if you wanted it shut), and the gentleman selling tickets to attractions at the front was just nasty (and sells for a lot more than what's online, FYI). Breakfast was good, but you had to wait a long time for the kitchen to refill empty items. The beds were not overly comfortable and the bathroom was not as nice as it was last year (different rooms, I know). However, it is super close, like walking distance, to the parks, and the price was right. Unfortunately, this will not be our go to place next year when we return unless major improvements and renovations have been made. The housekeeping staff was very nice.
I staying in this hotel from 25th July till 29th July. it was a lovely experience. the location is hotel is so nice that one can walk to Universal as it is just 15 mins walking distance. Hotel staff was really cooperative.Specially the GM Sam was really humble with Guests. Plus the Counter Lady Carla was really cooperative as well. Breakfast was good but can be made better like choice of Boiled and Half Fry Eggs etc.
My boyfriend and I chose to stay here for our second hotel during our trip to Orlando back in May 2016. Small, but comfy and clean rooms, with king sized bed, mini fridge, tv, FREE wifi, FREE parking, FREE hot breakfast (eggs, diy waffles, fruit, and a meat, cereal, bagels/toast etc.), FREE park shuttles, near a lot of restaurants, and super close to most of the parks!! Hotel staff were extremely friendly and let us drop our luggage for storage so we can go to the parks before checking in. Also gave us free breakfast that morning when we arrived, thank you for that kind gesture! Would stay here again and would recommend for those on a budget, without super high expectations, and just looking for a comfy and convenient place to stay while visiting Orlando. Would stay here again due to the free amenities/perks and proximity to the hotspots in Orlando.
Room was average but definitely not updated or renovated. Hotel staff was not friendly nor did they have any care for our concerns. Shuttle service was horrible! Inconvenient times, poorly marked stops at the parks and NO A/C in 90 degree weather!!
If you are a value conscious traveler this is a 5 star hotel. If you are looking for high end resort style accommodations than this hotel is 2 stars. I am rating my stay 4 stars since we knew it was a value play from the beginning. The reason its not 5 stars (in the value hotel category) is due to the fact that we have stayed at other BW properties and have had nicer accommodations, so rating this a 5 star property would be a disservice to the others who truly deserve it. This BW is very close to Universal Studios. We walked there twice during our July stay. We also stayed on Universal property during the same July stay and had a lot more comfort and amenities (pool, water taxi, ambiance, etc.) at the resort. You do pay significantly more for the on property hotels so if you are only looking for a place to rest your head then stay at this BW. BW also offers a lot more value conscious food and beverage options within walking distance.
As a Canadian employee of this company. I choose this hotel for its location, it's 20 minutes from Disney World. It has many good restaurants located just steps from the hotel, the staff is friendly, the pool is refreshing, a little small but serves its purpose. I would of preferred to change my room but they where sold out, I liked the fact they had a tour guide on site for all attractions near by.
Our family stayed one night. VERY close to Universal. The hotel has a shuttle that drops you off at the park at select times. We used the shuttle for the morning but decided to walk back to the hotel because we finished earlier that the shuttle return time. Great breakfast, hot and cold items. Zero complaints.
We stayed here one evening in early July. It's close to Universal but I wouldn't consider walking to the park. We drove and paid to park. Since you will probably drive anyway...you might find something a little farther away to save some money. The hotel itself was quiet and clean. We were on the first floor and it was quiet even though we were close to the dining area. Breakfast was warm and kept full. It's your typical hotel breakfast fair. Staff were very friendly. The front desk gals were all helpful and nice.
We booked this room in addition to another Universal Resort Hotel room. It is perfect for our needs. Clean, spacious, free parking, great breakfast, within walking distance to food and extremely convenient to all major attractions. Budget conscious travelers should not hesitate to stay here.
This hotel was really incredible for the price we paid. Its a couple of miles from Universal studios and the hotel provides a free shuttle to universal and a couple other parks. Great pool to relax after a long day at the parks. Staff at the hotel were very friendly. Breakfast is included - has a few options sausage, eggs, waffle. Rooms are clean. Parking available at the hotel. There are a few shops and restaurants within walking distance.Would def stay here again.
This is a truly nice place to stay,if you are planning on visiting ,Universal ,it is less than five minutes away, and only about 20 to Sea World, there are many restaurants, close by. Please be aware the parking gets a little tight there, later in the evening ,for it looks like they share a lot with a few other pardons there.
The hotel lobby was bland, but desk personnel were friendly and helpful. Shower fixtures needed upgrade. Maintenance was not very good for wet floor and malfunctioning A/C. Some housekeeping staff did not seem to understand English very well.
No isues...Very happy people. Helpful.. Food was good, accept no bacon served lol. Room are cozy .Pool area clean Transportation provided to the parks free of charge. Everything near by.. Pharmacy, restaurants, mall, ice cream shops and gas stations. I recommend this hotel .
Good place to stay. Room is clean. Great price for the area. The walk to Universal Studios Orlando is about 20 min. They do provide shuttle but it is on limited schedule. So we paid to drive in. The breakfast is good. When they 7 to 10am they mean it. Good place
Nice clean rooms great price for the room. The shuttle is only pick up twice in the day. We drove in to park. At Universal Studios. Be ready to walk around Alot. Good view nice and clean. Service is good the breakfast is fast and clean. So glad we came
We stayed at this hotel on June 9 and 10th. It is located about 1/2 block off of International Drive. The rooms were very clean, my only compliant is that there is only a shower in the bathroom. The breakfast was very good. Fruits, cereals, eggs, bacon, juices, coffee, waffles, pancakes, and breads (bagels, sliced white bread, wheat bread, english muffins). Breakfast staff was very friendly and so were the clerks at check inn. They do have shuttles that run to the theme parks but the times are very limited. You can purchase your theme park tickets in the lobby. We would definitely stay here again.
Nice, clean hotel. Good breakfast included. About as close as you can get to Universal Studios. Offers a free shuttle to the park. Only complaint - could use more parking not shared with restaurants and other hotels.
Picked this hotel because of the proximity to medical Dr. I was seeing, price and accommodations. It's a very quiet hotel, older but the rooms are nicely furnished and very clean. The complimentary breakfast included a full breakfast menu. Also in walking distance to major restaurants. An added bonus was the shuttle to Universal Theme Park. I would stay again.
We were very pleasantly surprised to discover that we had a family suite - definitely a great value for the price we paid! Excellent breakfast, clean rooms and friendly staff. Everything I look for in a hotel
Hotel lives upto its best western plus name. Decent breakfast. Courteour and helpful staff. Clean rooms. Swimming pool is nice too. They have theme parks free shuttles which is very useful. Very near universal studios. Dining options are also plentiful nearby. Definitely a good hotel to stay for families.
Stayed 3 nights for a visit to Universal. It was about a 15 minute walk to CityWalk. The room was clean and the A/C worked fine. There is only one elevator but it's only 3 floors so we used the stairs the whole time. Breakfast was sufficient. We'd stay again for the price.
I love Best Westerns and the Best Western chain but if staying in Orlando again (I went for business), I'd likely stay somewhere else. There was nothing really wrong with this hotel, but there was nothing really compelling me to stay here again. It's inexpensive and good value for the money and has free breakfast. If price was driving my decision to choose a hotel in Orlando, I'd certainly consider this place but look at other options also. The people working there were very friendly; loved the service.
I enjoyed my stay and loved the queen size bed! Although there was an off-putting odor in the room, especially after re-entering it from an outting, the tub was large and spacious and the room set up was nice. I wish the table/seating area was a bit larger and that the AC did not leak on the floor, but I still had an enjoyable stay. Good breakfast!
The good part about this hotel is its proximity to Universal Studios. Other reviewers have also highlighted this as the most significant advantage, besides its value for money. While we dont disagree, we found several other newer hotels in and around the same area, which offer equally competitive rates. The property looked very old and the place has a dull look. Lighting in the rooms was also poor. Breakfast options were limited and we wished they had something to cater to Indian tastes given the huge inflow of Indian tourists. I would recommend looking for a newer hotel (such as Holiday Inn) if the pricing was more or less the same.
The hotel staff is great and the rooms are clean and fresh. The breakfast meals were hot and well supplied. The pool is nice and they have towels at the pool if you forgot yours. The van to and from the park were not condusive for our large group and they really needed at least two vans running. Same problem returning that evening. We waited 35 minutes past the original time and one family had to wait even longer.
This is where you want to stay for right around $100. Centrally located to everything, free shuttle, free breakfast, free wifi, comfy beds, office center with printer, Everything we needed for Disney and Universal weekend.
Room was clean and smelled nice on arrival. The bathroom could use some "deep" cleaning especially around the toilet. Shuttle is available to Universal but the evening one was leaving park at 8:30 so we walked back to hotel. Nice breakfast. Several restaurants within walking distance.
Very convenient. Extremely quiet. Hotel pool could use some cleaning. The bathroom shower faucet is bizarre to operate. Breakfast is very good and everyone is very friendly. Shuttle service to Universal is somewhat limited but is only a short drive away. Convenient to many restaurants and stores
I have stayed in many hotels but I must say this hotel offers the best value for money. Best features are 1. Great breakfast to fill up with all energy u need to cover the theme park. 2. Location : 5 mins from Universal , 15 mins from seaworld. 3. Shuttle : you can live easily without renting a car if you are in Orlando for universal and sea world. 4. Noise: I hate hotels where u can hear everything your neighbors DO in night. But this hotel i slept without any disturbances what's so ever. 5. Resturants: you got carabbas, Japanese kobe, Burger King, and my personal favorite border grill just within 5 mins of walk. Anyone visiting Universal this is the hotel to stay for. After a full day of long walk you won't have energy for swimming or gym ... why to waste money on those.
This hotel is very close to Universal, you could easily walk there. However the walk is diceving because it is much farther than it looks. The room was average, but the bed was very comfortable. The weird part was if you turned the light switch off the outlets in the room stopped working so we had a few nights of uncharged electronics because we used the light switch instead of turning every light off individually. You are very close to most attractions like universal, sea world, water parks, discovery cove, and international drive. It took us about 20 minutes to get to Disney work from the hotel with easy access to the highway. The room was clean and the staff was very friendly. Breakfast in the lobby was a nice addition. Every day is different and they have the menu for the week by the elevator. Often hotels serve the same thing every day and the free breakfast gets old on longer stays. We would stay here again if in the area. For the price and proximity to everything it was a good deal.
The hotel is very quite. The room was very clean and comfortable. The have a good breakfast. Seating is tight. There are a lot of restaurants nears the hotel and a Walgreens. The rate is reasonable and I really recommend it.
We had a great stay here. The bed was really comfortable, we slept great every night. There were different things for breakfast every day but it was consistently really good. My favorite was the waffles. The location is great if you are going to Universal. There were no resort fees, either, and you didn't have to pay to park which is kind of a rare find in Orlando. The hotel also offered a shuttle to Universal every day and you have to sign up for it the night before. The wifi worked well. There was not an ice machine on the third floor, which was where we stayed, and that is one of my only complaints. We would definitely stay here again.
It was slightly above average but over priced because it was News Years Eve. Had transportation to and from Universal but it stopped at 8p going and 12 A back to hotel. That was very inconvenient. It would have been nice if they went that extra mile for their customers, then the price would not have seemed so outrageous. Had to take a taxi for both ways. Room was clean.
We spent a couple of nights in a double queen here while visiting Universal Studios. The hotel was perfect for that. We were on the 2nd floor and the room was fine. It was clean and comfortable. Everything worked. The staff we encountered (front desk, breakfast room, shuttle driver) were friendly and courteous. We enjoyed the pool both nights after coming back from Universal. While it does not have a hot tub (something we enjoy) the pool was clean and refreshing after a day on your feet. The breakfast was ample and good. Seating is tight. There are only a couple of 4 person tables and we had to split up both days during breakfast. They should add some space to the breakfast area. They offer a shuttle but it did not appear to make frequent trips to and from the park so we opted to take the shuttle to the park in the AM and walk back when done. The place is about a mile from CityWalk and completely doable. The rate was very reasonable and given its location I would definitely recommend it.
First off, I have been using Best Western hotels for years, although I haven't recently. My mother and I stayed three nights at this hotel in mid April at the beginning of our vacation. Our plan was to visit Universal Studios and the HolyLand Experience which are close to the hotel. One of the main reasons we stayed there was because they had listed a shuttle service to Universal. I was extremely disappointed to learn upon arrival, however, that the shuttle only runs twice in the morning to Universal and the twice in the evening from Universal. There is a very long gap in the middle of the day where there is no shuttle service available. I was quoted a taxicab price of $10 to get from Universal to the hotel if we didn't want to wait for the shuttle. The hotel also states it is within walking distance to Universal. It is, but it is a lot longer of a walk than you would expect and in some instances I would question the safety of walking to the park. If you have young children or older adults I would NOT recommend walking to the park. The hotel itself was fine. Our room was clean, the beds were okay. Not the comfiest, but this is Best Western after all, not the Marriott. The morning breakfast selections were good and the food was hot. There is a small dining area with tables and chairs, but it is very small and it makes for tight quarters.
This place was perfect for our stop in Orlando. It was walking distance from restaurants and shops and you were right at Universal. The price was the best part. It was the cheapest of anything around but you got the quality of a Best Western hotel. I will stay there again!!!!
Hotel was perfect breakfast was great and the staff was so friendly and helpful ..You can walk to universal or take a nice boat over from a neighbouring hotel..Beds were comfy and clean...We had a great vacation
We had such a wonderful experience, every associated was friendly and very helpful. It was the best experience we've had at a hotel, we will definitely be back and suggesting the best Western to all of our friends and family.
This hotel was a genuine bargain. I'm the middle of a bunch of high priced hotels, its cost was just a little under $100. I'm sure partly because prime season is about over. But it was clean and comfortable with an outstanding breakfast included. Consider this one next time you are in Orlando.
Friendly staff. Great breakfast, best sausage - eggs, waffles, yogurt, bagels, juice, cereal, pancakes coffee, included in room rate. Nice lobby., clean comfortable beds. Great rate. Close to Universal and Holyland Experience.??shopping nearby.
The experience was great. the treatment received by all staff was excellent. the rooms are spacious and comfortable . It has several accessible shops to eat and shop to bring food to the park. the hotel provides you transportancion for parks . I loved the hotel and recommend
The room may not be new but it is indeed clean and orderly. The location is near Walgreens and some food chains which i require for our necessities as tourists. 5 min drive to Universal Studios. We dont have a car but the hotel has shuttle to universal and disneyland to pick us up with 2 choices of schedule.
Just returned from the Best Western Plus Universal Inn. Check in with reservation took all of 4 minutes. Room was clean, had a mini fridge, microwave, coffee pot with coffee and the 2 queen beds I requested. Free breakfast in the morning is such a lifesaver...eggs, waffles, hot coffee, juices, cereal...something for everybody. The seating area was a little cramped, but people were eating and then taking off for the park. I really did not believe that you could walk to Universal Studios, so we tried it the night before. YOU CAN! And you will be crossing streets with traffic lights, not running across 3 lane highways either! We took it easy (two 45 year old adults and an 11 year old child) and it took about 15-20 minutes, tops. Once you are at City Walk, you decide if you want to go to Islands of Adventure or Universal Studios. You won't be the only people walking either, you will see others, so don't be afraid. The person at the front desk will tell you the way to get there. Saves you money on not parking and saves you time when you leave the them park. We didn't have time to check out the pool or anything, but this place is a good value, excellent location to Universal Studios theme park and a great place to shower and crash at night.
I gave a 2 out of five because of staff. The cleanliness of the room and whole facility was great. Even the continental breakfast was better than expected. The staff however, was rude and acted like we were interrupting them. The front desk clerk when we arrived never welcomed us. She just asked for a credit card and gave us a room key. It was like we had inconvenienced her by arriving. Then when we asked the best way to walk to universal studios, she told us the route that would take us the longest. We walked for over 45 min to get there and she didn't even inform us that the park was closing at 5 that night. We got there right at 5 and had to turn around and walk the 45 min back. The next morning, the gentlemen at their shuttle info desk was polite and friendly and told us that that was the complete wrong way. He gave us a different route that took only 10 min to walk and put you right into city walk. Even the front desk clerk in the morning wasnt much better. She too acted like we had bothered her by being question asking guests. We actually had to yell "hello" because we stood ant the front desk that was unattended for several minutes. Not a very friendly place. Would not stay there again unless the staff realized they work in the HOSPITALITY business and that being happy and polite to people is pretty much rule #1.
We checked in on a Friday afternoon. Check in was very quick. It is a good thing that we had reservations, because the hotel was booked solid. We were told that there was a Dance Competition at Disney World. That is why all the hotels around were full. I noticed that the place was clean right when we entered. We got to our room, a handicapped room, pretty big. It was also very clean. We went to dinner right across the parking lot, to The Golden Corral Buffet. There are 3 restaurants across from the hotel, a Starbuck's, Walgreens, a souvenier shop & a Burger King. Across the street there is a Carrabbas Italian Restaurant. Down the road about 3 blocks was an IHOP. All the places are within walking distance. The biggest reason I picked this hotel, is because I was told by the front desk that Universal was right across from the hotel. Universal is 3/4 mile away, from the hotel. Nice walking path too. Very handicapped accessible too. We were there to do Universal & Kennedy Space Center. The hotel is also about 10 minutes away from the International Drive. There are alot of things to see & do there too. We stayed for 8 nights, before we had to leave to head home, on the train. The train station is 8 miles from the hotel & has a Hertz too. The hotel has a good free breakfast, free internet, free parking, a pool that is handicapped accessible. The pool is clean too. The rooms are very quiet too. You can't really hear your neighbors. If we were coming back to Orlando, we would stay here again. I also want to Thank Karla & Karina(front desk gals), Esther, who was in charge of breakfast, & Sam the Owner, for having such a nice hotel. Thank You again for making our stay so enjoyable.
Very nice hotel and within an easy 15 minute walk to Universal Studios which saves on parking fees. The hotel has a great breakfast and there is shopping and restaurants in the same parking lot. Friendly staff.
This is the perfect place to stay when you arrive in Orlando in the evening and plan to spend your days at Universal Studios/Islands of Adventure. They have a shuttle to the park, and a decent breakfast to start your day. The staff was very helpful, and let us store our bags in the office to pick up on our way to the airport that afternoon. If I thought it through better, I would stay here my first night in Orlando, and then early the next take an Uber to the Hard Rock Hotel for $6, check in there and get my Express Pass with my room key. You can store your bags with the concierge, and go enjoy the early entrance to the parks.
Stayed 3 nights. Wow. What a great hotel! About 15-20 mins walk to universal park gates. First impressions were good. Front desk staff were great and nice to have free shuttle to the park (although we walked most of the time). Room was a little dated but clean, comfortable and well appointed. Microwave was handy as was the fridge. Good choice of tv and decent wifi speed. We used the laundry room which was easy to locate and use. Quick cycles too which was convenient. Nice pool area with free towels and very private. Pool not the cleanest though (a few leaves) and could do with some attention. Nice and warm though. Breakfast area was a bit cramped but breakfast quality and selection was excellent. Lots of restaurants and a Walgreens nearby. Great value too - What's not to like! Would thoroughly recommend.
We stayed here for two nights. It is what we were looking for: a clean, no-frills place where you can have a good night sleep after spending the whole day in the park. Service was good. Breakfast was OK for selection but it worked perfectly in allowing us to get going quickly. Shuttle service is a little limited in terms of frequency but we walked to the park when necessary. Overall, satisfied and probably would be back.
We all were impressed by the clean rooms we had--the staff was friendly and the children enjoyed the breakfast every day. The selection was large enough to even satisfy a picky eater. The kids are even thinking of a trip in the near future.
This place is very close to Universal Studios, our room was neat and good, staff were polite. Great place for a great rate. Breakfast was ok. We were four hours early and could not check in however the front desk staff secured our luggage so that we could go to Universal Studios, the walk was less than 15 min.
We stayed here for 3 nights this month to visit Universal Studios. Barely saw a smile from any of the staff and the free breakfast consisted of microwaved eggs and French toast. They did have some bagels and cereal to be fair. They advertise shuttle service but it's only 2 times in the morning and twice in the evening with the last time being an hour before the parks close! We ended up taking cabs in the evening anyway. The rooms were clean and comfortable enough for our family of 4. Reasonable value for the cost but not sure I would stay there again.
The hotel is a 15 minute walk from Universal. They also have a free shuttle but it's more hassle than it;s worth. Typical mid range room, decent included breakfast, and friendly hard working staff. Maids didn't do a great job, often leaving garbage is the room. Don't buy tickets or book cabs through the booth in the lobby. You'll pay substantially more than doing it on line. If you want to visit Universal and don't want to pay the big bucks to stay at the park hotels this is a good choice.
Overall I would not recommend this hotel in the shape it is in now. Good issues: large room - 2 beds and sofabed; in-room microwave, fridge, and A/C; good location to Universal Poor Issues: carpets very filthy - socks/feet became black within half an hour of walking in room; all clean towels had stains - towels need to be replaced; poor Wi-Fi - always dropping connection; cold pool; wish we could open window; breakfast was ok but it would be better if there was more seating and quicker cleaning of the tables; hotel seems rundown and in need of renovation.
I like this hotel. Good breakfast, good location and cleanliness. Near the sea world. Many restaurants and drugstores. Safe. Near the Orange West Convention Center. Good service and polite and welcoming staff.
Good value for what you get. We stayed here to get the shuttle to Universal to go to the Arnold Palmer Invitational. Good location. Make sure to reserve the "Family Room" because they are a good bit larger and have a separate seating area. The beds are comfy. A/C runs constantly though. Good TV, fridge and microwave. Free wifi. Free breakfast was decent. Typical bagels, toast, danish, limited fruit. They had rotating choices of eggs, breakfast meats, etc. For some reason they watered down the juices (apple, orange, cranberry). That seems like a silly place to try to save money. Coffee was good. The pool was freezing though. We couldn't even use it. Nicely decorated lobby. They really need to run the shuttle more often though. Being that close, there is no reason they couldn't add a few more runs each day - especially on the weekend when it's busier. That kept them from getting 5 stars because we had to use an Uber to get back because it was raining.
The staff at this hotel was corteous , friendly accomodating.Katherine and Karla at front desk staff were very efficient and polite. The manager Sam was there to make sure you were at ease and confortable, not just as a guest, but a friend of the hotel. They offer a free shuttle bus to Universal Studios and other parks in the mornings and the afternoons, you have the option to take a cab just for $7 or if you like to walk it's only 20 min . David Werber was very helpful to assist us buying tickets for the Parks Thank you David . Our room was very clean and spacious, Yanet Pineda our housekeeping did great job , thank you Yanet for your hard work. The breakfast was hot , fresh and tasty, The Lady did great job keeping the dinning area clean . Thank you Katherine, Karla , Yanet, Sam , David see you again soon , God bless you guys .
HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! Do NOT come to this hotel! I made a reservation through Expedia, showed up at 4pm to check in after driving 3 hours to Orlando. I was greeted by a rude front desk clerk. She informed me that my reservation was canceled because they attempted to run my credit card on file for authorization. She says they had Expedia attempt to contact me through phone and email earlier in the day. I NEVER got a phone call or email. They gave my room away at 3pm and were sold out. I asked her to show me the print out of the cancellation and she wouldn't hand me the print out. I asked to speak to the owner who was RUDE and told me it was HIS hotel so he could run prior credit card authorization. I informed him that when you select "book now, pay later" you pay at check in and no other hotels had done a "prior authorization" before checking in. The card I had on file was no longer active. He says they tried to contact me, which was a lie. He was not sympathetic or helpful and they both provided HORRIBLE customer service. After getting the reservation print out, my cell phone number was clearly written on it and they NEVER called me to inform me of what was going on. Seems like the just wanted to give the room to someone else gif a higher rate instead of through a third party site at a lower rate. In the end we ended up getting a 5 star hotel for a better rate than this crappy hotel. Do not stay here the owner is a jerk! And his staff is rude and has an attitude. Horrible customer service. Not worth it!
This hotel was very clean and nice. Staff was friendly and helpful. It is located less than 5 minutes from Universal Studio. This is a really good value for the location as well as the free breakfast and shuttle to Universal Studios.
My friends and I were here on spring break to visit Universal Studios. The location is prime (a mere 20 minute walk from the Universal parks), and there are many food options close by. The room was decently spacious and clean, and the housekeeping staff was friendly. However, the nighttime front desk staff was very rude and unhelpful. Would not come back to this hotel, especially when there are so many others nearby with similar room rates.
Shower, bed were good. Air conditioning, TV and frig were poor. The location was excellent (near Universal Studios and good restaurants). Could not sleep due to little air conditioning. Grainy screen made watching TV difficult. TV control did not always work to change channels. Breakfast was blah on cooked foods.
Pleasant, clean property...very near to Universal Studios, but did not feel comfortable walking to Universal as you have to cross a VERY busy road. We drove to Universal one day and used the hotel shuttle the next (easy shuttle signup). Free coffee available in the lobby at all hours, but if you have a taste for a certain national coffee chain with green labeling, it is only a 3-5 minute walk out the front door.
We stayed here in early March. The rooms were clean and the staff was very friendly. I only had one major complaint and it was with the reservation. We flew in and were scheduled to arrive in Orlando at 10AM. This would put us at the hotel by about 1130AM after getting luggage/car rental ect. I called and asked if we could do an early check-in and was told that would not be possible and if I wanted to check in earlier than 3PM I would have to book the room for the night before. We had flown all night and I was with my pregnant sister who after flying all night really needed to rest so I did choose to purchase the extra night so that we would have a room when we arrived. I have traveled a lot and this is the first time I have been told that I couldn't check in early and that I would have to purchase and extra night in order to do so. Other than the hotel was clean and close to Universal which was perfect for us.
The front desk personnel and manager were great. The hotel was very clean and the free breakfast was great. I really helps offset the cost of food during your trip. The housekeeping staff were very nice and helpful.
We have stayed at this hotel in prior visits to Universal Studios. We like this hotel because it is within walking distance of Universal and has great restaurants around it. The staff at the hotel is very pleasant and accommodating. The room was clean and comfortable. The hostess at the breakfast buffet kept it well stocked and clean. When someone would leave after breakfast she was right there to clean the area for the next person. This was important because it was busy. We really enjoy staying here.
Me and my family stayed at Best Western Plus Universal Inn the evening of 2-29-16 and was very comfortable. The breakfast was superb, eggs, sausage, waffles and pancakes which I usually don't see at the other places that include breakfast. The room was very clean and comfortable and the service was very good. It was very reasonable and I highly recommend it.
This was probably the best hotel experience that I have ever had. I have stayed many hotels but this one is far and above the best. The price does not reflect how nice this hotel was. I have paid a lot more for hotels that do not stack up to this one.
Employees were pleasant and the facility was very clean. The room in which we stayed was close to the lobby and continental breakfast. We have stayed here before and will continue to stay. We occasionally make trips to Orlando and Daytona and the stop over is very convenient because it is close to the Interstate. I will stay here again because of the cleanliness of the rooms and the property at large.
This was the second visit to this hotel. The first time I went to Sea World and this time we visited Universal that is directly across the street from the hotel. A free shuttle is offered to both. The front desk young ladies truly are great at Guest service!! the complimentary breakfast is definitely nice and you will find a just as nice young lady there taking care of your needs. Very nice recently renovated rooms with great beds. I believe this is the best value in Orlando and I highly recommend this hotel.
This is absolutely the best motel for going to the parks. The breakfast was very adequate in the morning and the shuttle was free and just took 5 minutes to get you there. There is a starbucks across the parking lot along with Golden Corral, Kobe Steak House and the Orlando Ale House. The room was clean and quiet.
It is very nice hotel to stay at. The employees were very nice and friendly. The hotel is really close to Universal Studios and pretty close to other attractions. That is why we like to stay here. The rooms were also very clean.
Hotel was very clean and smelled nice. Room was decent size. Air worked well. bathroom was marble and granite updated. Towels were very scratchy. Hair dryer was awful. better bring your own, I could have dried my hair faster if i stuck my head out a car window. Breakfast was O.K. need to alternate item choices more, biscuits and gravy, boiled eggs, maybe pop tarts for kids. Need to offer a mid-day option for the shuttle, if you have kids and/ or just want to res you will either walk it or Uber it. UBER was a great option. $5.00 to the park verses $10.00 for a cab. Having never used UBER I am now a fan. The biggest problem was on our last night we we're scheduled for a pick-up at 6 pm. he didn't show. So I had to call, the call did not go directly to the hotel, like you would think, it want to a central reservation. I was told at 6:10 he was on his way(now remember it's 5 min to the hotel from Universal) at 6:20 he still wasn't there, which told me he had not left yet. He arrived at 6:20. Also there is no close bathroom near the shuttle /bus pick-ups, so if you gotta go you better go before you leave the park! But all in alll the hotel was good. I am a part time travel agent, and have stayed in much better and much worse hotels. On a scale of i-10, it's about a 7 or 8.
Stayed for 9 days at Universal Inn, did 6 parks + BMG + mall shopping, and I can really tell it's excellent in-class and has extremely helpful and nice personel. Complete breakfast is included and there's free transportation to Universal Studios (US, IoA and CityWalk); if you're doing early park schedules like me you can just take a fruit to go, but breakfast options were awesome. Housekeeping is excellent; rooms are super clean, and include: safe, iron, medium size fridge, microwave, coffeemaker, two queen beds, flat screen with good selection of channels, mini closet plus lots of space in drawers, nice table for two and good WiFi during the day (several nights it didn't work). Gymnasium seems pretty decent although I just took a quick look in it, the pool is great to spend a hot afternoon after a half-day park morning, there's a good ice cube machine, a vending machine and laundry room (didn't use it). It is super close to most malls and markets (less than 20min away) and other major parks (Magic Kingdom is 23min away), plus you can literally walk to near-by restaurants, gas pump around the corner, Universal Studios two blocks away. There is even a small ticket sale spot inside where you can purchase major park tickets and attractions such as Kennedy Space Center, with discounts. What else can I say? As good as it gets! Eng. Pedro Apuy
overall great. we lived in a 2 queen beds room but the beds are smaller than regular queen size beds. and the beds are not comfortable. but all other things are great compare with the price. free shuttle bus to theme parks is convenient.
This is my third time staying in this hotel, all three times I stayed between 6-9 nights, It wont be my last. The included breakfast is really good and the service from the lady who hosts the breakfast (Name: esther) is by FAR the nicest lady I have ever met, every morning she has a smile and says good morning, even when rude quests leave their garbage on the tables she's still smiling. Bad- The only bad thing I experienced here was about 10 ants on my double bed that was never slept in and this happened on the 7th night. they than changed me to another room which I had no problem. I will be back.
We stayed in this hotel over the Christmas holiday. For the price, location and including a breakfast this hotel could not be beat as a family hotel. As others have stated the hotel is an easy 15 minute walk from the Universal parks. Rooms were advertised with queen beds but they still seemed (long but narrow) small. Rooms were similar to a Holiday Inn express. Room had a fridge, microwave and table with two chairs and easily accommodated a family of four. Free parking! If you want to stay close to Universal and not pay Universal prices, I would recommend it. It was nice having the Orlando Ale house close by as an inexpensive dinner and location and a Walgreens was in the parking lot as well. The Wall\\greens was well stocked for a family staying at the local hotels.
This Best Western Plus on Vineland in Orlando is very close to Universal Theme Parks and within walking distance of a couple of restaurants and a Walgreens. Good location about a block off the main drag so hotel was quiet at night. Hotel has shuttle service to the park with two departures in the morning and two in the late evening hours so don't need to depend on car or payment of a parking fee. a full hot breakfast is included in the room charge and the rooms are spacious.
We had a great 4 night stay here in February. The hotel is a 15 minute walk from the entrance to Universal and well placed for other attractions. Staff were friendly and helpful and our room was spacious and clean. The pool was not heated, which was a shame. The breakfast area was not large enough for the amount of guests, with insufficient seating. Breakfast itself was good though. Would recommend.
Just back from a family vacation in Orlando and I would highly recommend this hotel if you are going to Universal theme parks. It is across the street form the parks and about a 15 min walk. Lots of restaurants in front of the hotel and very helpful staff.
My husband and I stayed here in order to attend Universal's 2016 Celebration of Harry Potter. The front desk staff is efficient and polite. Our room was 2nd floor, located on the front side of the hotel. There was a little street noise audible to us but it wasn't overly bothersome. We could see fireworks from Universal Studios out the window! The room is clean and fairly large; we had plenty of room to spare! There is a fridge in the room as well as a microwave. The AC works very well. The bathroom is clean and the water temperature/pressure is great for helping unwind after walking all day at the theme park. There is a free breakfast from 0700-1000 and it has a decent variety of items including waffles, fruit, eggs, sausage (pork and turkey) and yogurt (vanilla or strawberry). Coffee is available all day and I liked having fresh coffee available at 8:30 pm! Laundry facilities are available. There are several restaurants, a Starbucks, and a Walgreens pharmacy all located within walking distance. Universal is also within walking distance (20 minutes by estimation) but we chose to drive over. A shuttle is available. My only complaint is that the vending machine on the 2nd floor is poorly stocked. All in all I am very happy with this hotel and would definitely stay again!
The hotel is located in a quiet and well-kept, near the Orlando Convention Center. The area is very spacious, has ample parking and everything you need is within an acceptable range. Those who want (like me) walk to the exhibition takes 15 minutes of pleasant walk. The hotel rooms are excellent, great atmosphere and good service. Breakfast is very basic, nothing more. Very important: the free WiFi working very good. It seams that there is a lot of attention to detail. I really enjoyed. Excellent value.
I stayed 2 nights and had a great stay. The customer service is excellent. The employees are very professional. Their breakfast is very good. I really liked the location. I will be staying here again.
The location was great and the fact that they had low prices and transportation to Universal Orlando was a perk that lead us to choose this hotel. But the transportation is just a transport van (seating maybe 12), that only comes twice a day. So unless you're looking to stay at the parks from open to close, don't plan on using their system. Also, you have to sign up via room number in the lobby, but if you're late to the list, you're not getting on! Very hit or miss here. Our room was average and clean for the most part. The breakfast was less than stellar (but yes, what do you really expect for this price?), and the staff did their best but most spoke heavily accented English. If you're looking for a quick and cheap place to sleep while enjoying the parks all day, this is the place for you! But if you're looking for something a little more upscale, I would spend the extra money and go somewhere else.
Was an OK hotel for a cheap vacation in Florida, Was in a good area and easy access to Universal Studios in Orlando. Car was included in the package we booked so it made it a lot easier to get around to other attractions in the area
This hotel was in an excellent location for our trip to Universal studios in Orlando. They provided a courtesy shuttle but we were close enough to walk. The staff were pleasant and helpful. Having breakfast included was a real bonus and it was of a high standard. We would certainly stay here again.
Stayed here for 2 nights. Our room was clean and beds were very comfortable. We had breakfast both mornings. This is a self serve buffet style. Choice was what you would expect from a reasonably priced hotel - cereal, eggs, toasts, fruit etc, and was well stocked (although we did arrive at the start of service both mornings). The hotel offers a shuttle bus to Universal Studios twice a day, however the park is only about 10/15 minutes walk from the hotel. You do have to cross two roads - there are pedestrian cross signals - and this may be an issue for some visitors. We walked to and from the park and found this suited us better than having to plan our schedule around bus times. In summary, I would recommend this hotel primarily for its location. The drive from Orlando airport took us around 45 minutes (and we are visitors who were unsure of the route!), it is within easy walking distance of the park, our room was quiet and comfortable, public areas were clean, breakfast was fine. It is not a luxury hotel but for a short stay was absolutely fine and totally problem free. We would certainly recommend.
We stayed at this hotel to go to Universal studios. It was a great location . We walked to the park as well as nearby eateries . Did not have to move our car, which was great after all the previous driving we had done. Room was large & most important clean. Housekeeping did a great job. They honored my special request of top floor & xtra towels. Hot breakfast was good & changed somewhat each day. Area was a little small but in my experience most are. Breakfast ladies were very nice. We needed to check out a day early to drive home do to impending blizzard. We were pleasantly surprised that they did not charge us for the last night. THANKS, Best Western. Will definitely recommend ??
We stayed here in 2014 and the quality of the hotel has gone down. It's about a 20 minute walk to Universal from the hotel or they offer a shuttle at 8 & 10 A.M. You can't check in until 3 P.M. but you can confirm your reservation and then go over to the park. Room had a musty smell, bathroom floor had hair and an earring on it. Shower had hair in it too. Breakfast wasn't great either. Very crowded, not enough places to sit. Pros is that it is only a 3 story hotel and is close to the park. Ok place to stay for the price, but don't expect much from the free breakfast.
After reading some of the reviews I wonder if everyone is reviewing the correct Best Western as there are several in the Orlando area. This one was by far better than I expected (according to the negative reviews). I take my reviews seriously so here is my honest review. This hotel is only 3 floors so it is smaller than most. I prefer this as the breakfast area is small so it would fill up fast. No problem, we just took the food upstairs to our room. The "family" room (the largest one) is the way to go if you like space and have more than 2 people. The bathroom is a nice size too! Large flat screen TV. Beds were comfortable. Pull out bed from sofa was slumped in the middle but my older children didn't care. Breakfast was good. Lots to choose from. Main dishes change daily. French toast sticks were soggy but the pancakes were great! They have make-your-own waffles daily. The location was perfect for going to Universal parks. We walked but be aware it will take you around 20 minutes to do so. The hotel is directly behind the Kobe Japanese Steakhouse and the Orlando Ale House restaurants. Eat at the Ale House! Delicious and priced just right. We found the service to be very good. Everyone was friendly and I must say the housekeeping did an excellent job! Our room was very well done plus after we returned from the parks they even had the lights on for us! The ceiling fan above the sofa bed was even clean. How many places do that? Not many! The bathroom was always very clean with plenty of towels. The towels were not thin but they weren't very soft either but they did their job. Nice complimentary Pantene products to use for shampoo, conditioner and lotion. Nice sized mini fridge, microwave and single-serve coffee pot. There was also a round table with two chairs. The only things negative I have to say is that the door to our room was not sound proof. We heard everything out in the hallway and we were near the elevator so you could hear it "ding". When the TV was on we didn't hear anything but I must say for light sleepers that would be annoying. Luckily I'm not one of them. Also, their free wifi didn't work with my iPhone for some reason. It did work for the Samsung phone my son had. Hmm...
The staff were excellent. The hotel was clean, the beds were comfortable. The breakfast was good and the free shuttle service was a plus. The room rates were really reasonable. Staying there eliminated the need to rent a car. Everything you need was across the parking lot. It was a pleasure to stay there.
First of all, I wanted to give you a 5, but things happened and I could not. Check in was great. She was a peach and I am sorry I do not have your name with me. We were sent to our room and it smelled, we were immediately moved to a neighboring room. Better. The room was superb. However, and this is from other group members who throughout our stay, felt staff members were snobbish and unkind. Also, the breakfast is humdrum and the eating area is small. Busy weekends, go early...Now, if you need tickets, shop before, the Concierge is questionable, for lack of better words. We believe the discounts are not really as they appear. We found discrepancies in prices when we were out enjoying the area. The pool is there. Finally, the main reason for booking this hotel was it was close to US and they had a shuttle which could accommodate a wheelchair. NOT SO! Differing stories from everyone and we were led to believe the shuttle ran from 8am till 830pm. NOT SO! I believed what I read here on TA, and would have shopped around if I knew now what I know now. Cost us more than expected for extra parking fees, no shuttle, and discouraged by breakfast due to lack of space. Keep trying BW. You may get there still.
Nice for a brief visit. Bathroom /tub area could be updated. Staff was nice ad helpful. Very convenient to Universal. Use the shuttle if you need a quick ride after a long day. Be sure to sign up for it.
Over all the stay was great. We only had one problem with the shower in one of the rooms when I reported it they fixed it right away. The breakfast was more then I expected with fresh eggs & pancakes, hot sausage and bacon. make your own waffles, juices, coffee, serial, toast. More like a real breakfast. My wife and kids said it was amasing.
We stayed here for 3 nights, and I couldn't have had a better experience! I have stayed in many hotels, and this is one of my favorites! The front desk staff were beyond amazing and accommodating to our needs. The breakfast every morning was really good, and varied everyday, which is nice when staying multiple nights. The location is about a 10-20 minute walk to Universal Studios, but was also right beside some good restaurants to eat at. The beds were super comfy, and the room was nice and quiet, and came with a fridge and microwave. **The shuttle service only runs twice in the morning to Universal Studios...not all day! So beware of that - it is something we didn't find out until we got there! I give this place two thumbs up! Thank you BW Plus!
The room was very clean and a decent quality. We walked to Universal Studios every day (about a 15-20 minute walk) so that was nice to save on parking. The free breakfast was adequate, though not great. When they say "french toast" what they really mean is soggy microwaved frozen french toast sticks. However, free is free and it was definitely edible. If you plan on spending most of your day out and about I would definitely recommend this hotel. It offers a good night's sleep, but not much else. Since we were only there at night, it was perfect for us! Some staff were more friendly than others but no one was straight out rude. They have a helpful concierge near the front door to assist with buying tickets for all of the nearby attractions.
Rude manager (name: Karla), threw us out at 8 pm because we complained that our room had not been clean for 2 days. We had booked the hotel for 3 nights, after 1st night we left room from 11am to 3pm, came back to a dirty room. After 2nd night, left room at 11am, came back at 8pm to a dirty room. Manager (KARLA) was insensitive to our feelings, best solution she had was to refund us and throw us out at 8pm. HAVE NEVER HAD SUCH BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE IN ANY HOTEL IN ALL MY TRAVELLING EXPERIENCE. Mary S
We found that this hotel was perfect for our two day stay. They have a lovely man in the foyer who can advise you on the nest ticket combos amd we bought our passes there and saved money as well as not having to wait in a queue at Universal. They have a free shuttle that goes at 8am and again at 10 am. It reurns to the hotel at 6 pm and again at 8.20pm. You can walk and it would take about 20/30 minutes or take a cab from Universal takes about 5 min and costs $5 The hotel was perfect and didn't cost a huge amount considering the location. Comfy rooms, free breakfast, would stay here again.
Best breakfast you can have away from home. Clean room's clean pool, and nothing came up missing when we were out enjoying Orlando and kissimee. If you have time stop in and visit old town. Try to make it there on a Friday or Saturday, there's a classic car show. Worth making the trip if that's what your into.
We stayed here for 2 nights the week prior to Thanksgiving. This hotel was a great value for the money. Staff was friendly and the breakfast was a nice perk. We even had our TV connection break at around 10:30PM and the Manager found us a replacement ASAP. Thank You....
The hotel has an odor and several of the front desk staff are rude. As well as the guy who appeared to own the hotel upon us checking out. There were workers doing work on the front door (during check out time go figure) and the man talking to them was unpleasant.
have used for many years but became very popular with difficulty in booking and notable increase in price. Now value has returned and service and amenities are excellent. It is a small hotel with limited facilities but they are quite sufficient for our stay. The staff are of higher caliber and and I thank them for their patience with difficulties with the Wi-fi A real pleasure
Good hotel for the money. Great value. Within 1.2 miles walking distance of Universal City Walk and both Parks. Pleasant helpful courteous staff. Plenty of exciting things to see and do in area either while driving or walking. Good restaurants. Artegon and International drive a must.
We have stayed for 3 nights at this Best Western Universal Inn. When we arrived, we have given a room in 3rd floor (301). After entering into the room, we have noticed that at least 5 to 7 cockroaches and stinky smell in the room. And water in the bath tub is stagnant. Immediately notified the staff at front desk and they gave us different room in 2nd floor. Beds are comfortable and Break fast is ok. But shuttle service is very good and Restaurants are near by.
This is our place to stay when visiting the area. Easy checkin even early all you need for convenience microwave small refrigerator coffee maker. Plenty of fresh towels. Beds were very comfortable . Breakfast included good enough to start your day at one of the parks
This is a great place to stay when visiting Universal Studios. The free hotel only shuttle in the morning got us to Universal studios by8:10am so that by the time you walked to the gate you only had to wait about 10-15 min before they opened the gates-usually 20-25 min before the official 9am opening time. The room was beautiful huge and clean and the breakfast was varied enough to meet 4 different types of appetites.I was also able to print our boarding tickets for our return home flight-a nice bonus. We would definately stay here again.
I really enjoyed the customer service. I was skeptical at first because of some of the reviews I had read. The rooms were very spacious. Beds were comfortable. Bathroom was clean. Breakfast was well stocked. Good food. The only bad thing about breakfast was the sitting area was too small. I loved everything about this hotel except one thing, the shuttle bus, the hotel uses, does not accommodate people with wheel chairs. So we couldn't use the service. We did however walk to Universal. You cross a major intersection but its safe with sidewalks. I will stay here again.
After attending a conference for a week at a Disney resort we headed to the Best Western Plus Universal Inn to wrap up our time with a couple of days at Universal Studios. First, we were impressed that our room was much nicer than the Disney Resort hotel room. It was clean, comfortable, and updated. There were other extras that were included such as a hot & tasty breakfast, as well as a free shuttle to Universal. A bonus is the restaurants and drug stores only steps away. We will certainly return on our next trip to Orlando. As far as the Disney Dolphin resort... well the jury is still out.
Very clean, excellent staff who are pleasant, helpful and friendly. Housekeeping is efficient and thorough. Conveniently located steps from trolley line. Excellent internet connection in rooms. Breakfast is included.
This hotel was everything we expected. Friendly staff, clean room, good breakfast, internet was easy to set up and use. It was very convenient to Universal, which is what we came down for. We were very satisfied.
We were traveling to Florida to visit Universal Studios. The hotel was in a prime location, within walking distance to the park (15 minutes). We did not utilize it, but the hotel also offered a complimentary shuttle There were also a number of restaurants nearby, and a Walgreen's for food and essentials. The hotel itself was in good shape, the rooms were clean and the beds were comfy! The free breakfast was an added bonus when you are already spending a lot for the park and food. We did not spend much time at the hotel other than to sleep and eat breakfast, but it exceeded expectations!
Traveling with young adult grandchildren for a day at Universal. Location 2 minutes to Universal. Super clean super comfy and full hot breakfast to fees the ever hungry grand kids. The breakfast staff were very friendly and smiling, a trait most welcomed when tired and hungry. Eggs were moist and delicious, had choice of regular sausage or turkey sausage, and plain waffles or get this...chocolate chip waffles, that made all kids really happy.
The experience at the Hotel was very satisfactory. Andy at the front desk is the property's shining star. She is very hospitable, professional, and accommodating. A pleasure to meet her acquaintance and hopefully Best Western will appreciate that. The room # 105 although has a Very noisy air conditioner.
My wife and I booked a room at this property on Oct.28th.as part of her birthday celebration and to take in Halloween Horror Nights. Universal and Islands of Adventure are only a 20 min.walk away. This hotel was remodeled about 1 1/2 years ago so interior is relatively fresh. Our room was neat and clean, but I found the bed to be a little too soft. The WIFI completely sucks, it kept dropping like a lead balloon. Breakfast was good and included some hot items such as: biscuits and gravy, sausages and reconstituted eggs. This hotel is not the lap of luxury, but if your on a budget, it will suit you just fine.
Enjoyed staying at this hotel, would highly recommend this hotel. Very clean, staff is nice, delicious breakfast, beds are comfortable, shuttle to area attractions. Went in October would recommend going to Florida In October weather was prefect and the most we waited in line at Universal was 45 minutes.
My family and I stayed at this hotel over the Columbus Day weekend. There is a bus stop near the hotel. If you choose you can take the #21 bus which takes you to Universal Orlando theme park. It costs $2.00 per person each way. We took the free shuttle that the hotel offers. You can walk to the theme park but it is a long 3 blocks. Trust me I know lol. We picked this hotel because it is sa short distance from Universal, Orlando theme park. Our room came with a small fridge and a microwave. Which helps when you have children. We bought drinks from a food mart close by and left them in the fridge to be kept cool. The hotel offers continental breakfast, which really helps when you are trying to keep costs down. My hats off to the cook. She gives a good selection of things to eat. Our room was cleaned daily. I have two complaints. The hotel WiFi did not work properly. It kept throwing our phones offline despite us following all the steps to log on. Also the toilet bowl and seat were a bit nasty. When the bowl was lifted it seemed that it had not been properly cleaned. The seat also had a stain that had not been properly cleaned. I ended up purchasing something to at least get the seat cleaned. For this I deduct two stars. Maybe it was just our room but I did not go on vacation to do housework.
We stayed in this hotel because we were looking for budget hotel to stay for one night due to our changes of plan. Surprisingly, this hotel has a great location , just across the street to universal studio parking garage, if you are a walking person, guess you can walk to universal and save the parking fees. We should have picked this hotel when we went to universal. The breakfast was good, a room a little too small, they should have extend a temporary seating for breakfast to the empty space in the lobby. Small outdoor swimming pools, no whirl pools. In Front of this hotel, they have kobe steak house ( our favorites), some other restaurants, gift shop, fairfield by marriots and some other hotels. We may came back to stay here the next time we want to go to universal again.
Used this hotel for our recent trip to Halloween Horror Nights and can't complain about anything. Nothing too fancy but that isn't what we were looking for. Just somewhere that was close to the park for when we were finished. We didn't eat any breakfast in the morning but they had a pretty nice setup from what it looked like.
Great hotel with free breakfast. Within a mile of walking distance from universal city walk , universal studios and islands of adventure. nice updated rooms. Housekeeping is a bit loud at all hours of the day, but otherwise great stay. Lady at front desk was not "pleasant" but not rude. Would be nice to have a more welcoming and nice presence .
We could not afford to stay at the Universal on site properties, so we did the next best thing and stayed at the Best Western which is in very close proximity to the park, about 10 minutes by free shuttle. The oversized room was very comfortable for our family of 4 adults and th staff went over and above what their job requires. This was our second stay in as many years and we were completely satisfied.
We spent four nights at this hotel. It was clean, quiet and near Universal. It had a free breakfast (with hot/cold items). The hotel is small, but very family friendly. It has a small pool which we enjoyed after a long day at the park. They also provide a free van service to/from Universal at set times. There are restaurants nearby (across the parking lot). The staff was very helpful and we met some really nice people staying at the hotel as well. The only "negative" was it is not really within walking distance of Universal. Technically a 15 minute walk, but the roads are, in my opinion, too dangerous to cross. (Take the free shuttle!). It is a good value too.
The room was very clean. The A/C worked terrifically. However, there were a couple of issues the first being the lack of outlets for charging phones and computers and what not. Also, both nights it was extremely noisy all night long, not only people which I can not fault the hotel for but just general noise.
Pros - Hotel was pretty clean. Staff was nice. Continental breakfast was good with a nice variety and was included in your stay. Cons - Bed was a little uncomfortable for me. However, others in the room (3) seemed to sleep fine with no discomfort. Yes, I would recommend this hotel to others.
Professional, warm, friendly and helpful staff. Adequate for overnight stay en route to the next destination . Pleasant, well kept surroundings. Would have been convenient if there was a Best Western airport shuttle available as there is in New York - JFK, but the cities - NYC and Orlando- are different and one must make allowances for such differences,
We stayed at this hotel for one night and for the price we paid it was a great deal. The hotel amenities are basic, but clean and comfortable. The staff were extremely helpful and ungraded us to a suite. With free parking and wifi if you're looking for a budget hotel near Universal Studios and International drive you could do a lot worse.
upon arrival the attendant checking us in was not real helpful, and there was no lights in the pool for us to swim at night. The hotel was clean and the staff in the morning was very nice and helpful.
We showed up on the wrong day (day late) and were very kind to honoring the room even though we were a day late. it was a short walk to Universal and the breakfast was prepared very well. I would stay here again on my next trip to Orlando
My fiance and I reserved a room at the BEST WESTERN PLUS UNIVERSAL INN, in hopes to have a nice overnight stay, free breakfast, and a shuttle to universal studios for the next day. We made an online reservation to stay 9/26. My fiance called immediately after making the online reservation to ensure that the room was confirmed, and they said it was in the system and confirmed. He called TWICE on the 26th when we were flying into Orlando, and both times they said the room was confirmed and they noted our late check-in. We arrived at 10 pm on the 26th and as we walked in the man at the counter said our names immediately and we said "yes, that's us." He then proceeds to tell us there was a problem with our reservation and he booked us a room at a different hotel. When we asked why nobody bothered to call us and tell us this, and what they were going to do about the inconvenience he had NO response and just said there's just a problem with the reservation. We had to schlep ourselves and our things over to another hotel, THE FAIRFIELD INN, which had a very gracious and we are just lucky that they honored the price of our previous room. Furthermore, Best Western said they reversed the charges on our reservation and that they would be available in our bank in 3-5 business days. We have now waited 5 business days, with no apology, no compensation for the inconvenience, and NO ROOM from the Best Western, and they are still holding $130 of ours. We called our bank, and the bank said that the Best Western is currently holding the funds and will not release them until the 5th of October. We have called the best western and are getting the run-around, and still no apology, no compensation, and no REFUND on our NON EXISTENT ROOM. This is hands down the worst hotel experience I have ever had, and we travel constantly. Nobody should ever stay here.
Stayed here before a cruise 1 night and after for 4 nights. I didn't expect much for the great price - but boy was I happily surprised! Newly upgraded rooms that the housekeeper really cleaned well! Little touches like folding the towels into designs etc. The breakfast isn't the usual bread and coffee! Yes they had bagels, toast, muffins, danish. They also had the - make your own waffles. Every day a slight variation to the hot menu but always several items. Eggs, french toast, sausage, turkey sausage, biscuits etc. Also cereals, yogurt, juices and fresh fruit. The lady who does it all is amazing and sweet. She is constantly picking up, cleaning, getting more food out and very nice. She really cares that everyone is enjoying the meal and is comfortable. Saving the money on breakfast for 5 of us was great! The front desk people answered millions of questions from us and boy do they KNOW the answers! Restaurant choices, venues whatever. I felt bad the two girls (morning and afternoon) were constantly helping us. They also have a gentleman that can arrange park tickets or he can give out discounts to attractions at no cost. Best of all he really knows about all the area attractions. (He helped us go to Titanic at a discount!) Also a very nice man. I saw the owner on the property several times. This guy really cares about the place! Much better than other Best Westerns we have stayed at! There is also a small pool which gets all day sun and has lounge chairs and a supply of pool towels. I have to say I didn't expect the Hilton here, but for the price I certainly feel we got a great deal. Just the friendliness of the entire staff (especially after we kept losing room keys!) was well worth it! You can walk to a Starbucks, Walgreens, a liquor store, Burger King, Carrabas, a pub restaurant, a buffet place or a really good hibachi place called Kobe. Taxis are also readily available. They also had a shuttle to the various parks and it was free to Universal where we went. (Of course tip the driver!) If room size matters it would easily fit 4 people in two queen beds, or maybe even 5 with a crib. Plenty of t-v channels and free internet - which you may have to keep entering the password for as they are having issues with its upgrade. The owner told me to come back as they are remodeling. I have no idea what as I found it very clean and comfortable. We also had computers to print boarding tickets from. It was also close enough to all the parks and International drive but far enough away to be quiet! I highly would recommend this place for the above and its safety (cameras everywhere) and stay here again! -Linda
