A very cozy hotel, five minutes walk from the Malmö Central railway station. The old city and Malmö castle just around the corner! The hotel has everything you need, as usual for Best Western - comfy beds, good breakfast and very friendly staff! Also, as usual - clean.
I really liked this hotel with its old world ambience and quirky but high quality rooms. The location is also very good, close to the central station and within easy walking distance of restaurants and pubs. Very good breakfast and friendly staff. Value for money and very much recommende
This is one of the most cost friendly and great hotels in the world. Showed up late. Friendly welcome. Lovely qualitative room. Quiet. Slept like a baby. Breakfast - wow. Had everything with great quality. And then it downs on me… it's great people. Marie, Henry…. All going the extra mile. Truly impressing! Try it!
Given the very low price I gave one should not expect much and be happy about you get what you pay for…. And that was exactly what I got. The hotel is very centrally located, close to the centre as well as the main station and breakfast perfectly fine. On the other side the hotel is a four star but I have stayed in better three stars, so thats kind of stretch and must have been given a long time ago. For the price I payed, I would def. return
Good location. Nice breakfast. Rooms dirty, dusty and generally unclean around the furniture and flooring. Shower good. Poor room maintenance overall. Cheap price but cleanliness is a real issue in this hotel.
The location was clean. The amenities were terrific. I did not partake of the breakfast, but it all looked very delicious! I had never travel to Sweden before, so it was very helpful that the staff was kind & friendly. I would recommend this location to others.
Looking for a good deal next to the main train station, found this small and old fashion gem in the heart of Malmo, Sweden , visiting for the first time from the US. It turned out to be a bless, the front desk person treated us like royalty and helped us out in our tour for the city. Room absolutely neat and clean, quiet. But breakfast WOW! My wife and I met the person who set everything up and congratulated him for his job that impressed everyone with a huge selection of everything you need to eat early in the morning and ready for a busy day. Really appreciated the whole staff. Highly recommend this affordable old fashion place in the heart of Malmo. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
We came to the hotel with pretty much with a either this will be bad or it might be really good (due to comments). Our stay was lovely. Room was a bit with "old vibes" but beds were nice, everything worked and nothing was broken or seemly worn out. We booked sauna that was 75SEK/per person for 1,5h and sauna area was really nice. Maybe they sauna heater seemed a bit old also so would maybe swap it when possible, Breakfast was nice, nothing missing and open later than many others. Price was cheap also for the stay. Overall I could easily come back to visit this hotel.
With its proximity to Malmö Central station, this hotel is an excellent combination of value for money. The room I was given was secluded away from the main body of the building and reachable via a little inner courtyard. No major hassle, unless it rains, perhaps. The ambience of the room was a bit "dated", probably hinting to the need of renovation some time soon. Another hint was the fact that the safe in my room did not work. A battery problem, in all likelihood, but since I was staying only a couple of hours away from the room, I did not even flag this. On the plus side, the location of the room was a guarantee for a quiet night. Also, my room was among the most spacious I have had in years. In addition, I appreciated the staff's flexibility in preparing a bite that I could take away or consume on the spot, since my flight forced me to check out before the breakfast hours.
The team was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very well done with high diversity in choices. Location was great for my work, very close to train station and short walk to center city.
A really good hotel considering the price paid. Good central location, good breakfast buffet, good rooms and OK beds. The rooms had both a small refrigerator and a safe, as well as complimentary bottled soda water. Walking distance to most things and also close to the train station.
If you would stay in Malmo for a short visit This Hotel is an excellent option It has all what you necessitate, Good location, 700 meters from the Central Train station. Comfortably furnished rooms, helpful staff. My only concern is the very small dining area, you would accept to wait or share a table while having breakfast! The whole experience was acceptable and I would definitely stay there again when I visit Malmo city.
I went to a cruise that started from Copenhagen but I have visited the city before. Therefore I stayed in Malmo for a few days before the cruise and my friends could go to Copenhagen conveniently by train. The hotel is located next to a canal and within walking distance to the train station and the old city. The room is not spacious but tidy and clean. I had to store the luggage's under the bed. The service is prompt and the staff very helpful. The breakfast is really good. It is also close to the parks around the fortress. It is really pleasant to walk there in the morning.
Stayed there for five nights, attending a wedding in Malmö and also went twice to Copenhagen full day. Location was perfect, close to train station and other interesting points in the city. We stayed in a superior room (spacious with a sitting area) on the third floor facing the back street, and it was absolutely quiet. It was great that we could adjust heating (radiators) manually as it was quite cold during our stay. WiFi was great, as well as the breakfast, plenty of fresh fruits and salads, coffee and tea facility in the room. The decor in our room was modern/minimalistic and beds were very comfortable. Parquet floor could be vacuumed a little bit more. I fully recommend it.
Excellent stay! We got a really good price for a two-night stay around easter. When I booked the room I even wished for a specific room that I had seen pictures of on the booking site and the staff assured me that I would get it. The room was nice and clean. I had seen some negative comments about this to I was on the lookout for flaws but I didn't find any. Breakfast was nice as well and when I messed up the times for check-out the staff was so sweet and allowed us to check out a little later. I would recommend this hotel and especially for the price that we got!
it's a bit small the hotel but generally good(not so many things to do in it), so it's basically to relax and go out for activities I liked that hot drinks and cold drink lice juices are for free, and some biscuits as well for all the period of your staying! And you can make tea in your room as well
Spent 2 nights here in mid-February 2019. The hotel is conveniently located for travellers commuting through Oresund - it is roughly 4-5 minutes to the station, from where a fast train takes you to Copenhagen in half an hour. The place is quite old, this can be seen in design. I have to admit room was quite cosy, however, some better maintenance and renovation might be handy. Wifi was strong. The worst part of this hotel is indeed its breakfast. It is served in quite limited quantities and the selection is fairly poor. If I would do an action plan of improving this hotel, the first thing I would action is going to be improving the breakfast. Other than that it was an ok stay.
I stayed for only one night and it was very clean. No carpet on the floor (as in American hotels that I've stayed). Friendly staff, and the cleaning lady (yes, it was a lady) made a real good job. A fun thing is that the porter and I had common friends though it's 600+km from where I live. The breakfast was ok. but no eggs nor sausages. Missed that The minus was that I forgot my phone charger and they refused to send it to me by mail. The option was to let UPS or DHL pick it up and deliver it to me. You can imagine THAT cost, so I bough a new one.
We stayed in Malmö for two nights, visiting Copenhagen, Landskrona and Malmö.BW Hotel Royal was a great pick for our short stay, comfy, warm, friendly, great brekkie and handy for train, attractions and so on.
Popularity but not enough of people to serve all guests. Special to breakfast. Not enough of place and a lot of things was empty. Rest was good. Nice in the rums from the corridor was loudly. I will return, because it was OK. The place so close to the train station and centrum of the city was very good.
Easy to find, difficult to park. Fast and informative check in. Got a room at the back of the Hotel, which is a very quiet location. Quite big and very clean room with small fridge and coffee facilities. Okay bathroom, however the drain was clogged, and the bed, which consists of two single mattresses put together- not really comfortable. Hollow. Lights, switches and plugs for laptop and phone, located at the right places. Strong and stable WiFi. Fantastic location and huge variety of restaurants is at short walking distance. Breakfast is fine, with hot and continental food.
We just returned from a short holiday from Malmo. The hotel is ideally located for sightseeing in the city. The breakfast is fantastic, the staff is comfortable and relaxed. The rooms are very clean and neat. The room we stayed in is in the yard and is very quiet, although the hotel is on the street. The main squares are very close to the hotel, as well as the main train station, from which you catch train to Copenhagen (approx 2 min far from hotel). The bus that runs to the airport is also 2 minutes from the hotel (the bus arrives and goes to the airport at the same station).
The double room (on the top floor) was massive and clean with a comfy bed. The staff at reception was nice and professional and can provide useful travel essentials free of charge (such s toothbrush, toothpaste etc.). Parking is not available at the hotel but there is a public parking nearby (I think we paid approx. 180 SEK for 24h) Breakfast was fantastic, the best we had during our trip in Sweden and Norway, with a lot of choices (both sweet and sour, Swedish and international).
Stayed there for three nights: clean rooms, good enough for one person, very friendly and knowledgeable staff, good locations right by the train station. I would definetly stay there again and recommend it! Séjour de trois nuits: chambre propre, suffisamment spacieuse pour une personne, personnel compétent et accueillant, bien situé près de la gare. A recommander!
We visited this hotel for one night during our visit to Malmo. It took just 10 minutes walking from Malmo central rail station (which is just 30 minutes from Copenhagen airport). Customer service was very friendly and our request for early booking was accommodated. Room was very cozy and clean , everything worked well. Great breakfast was very nice addition. Recommended.
Our room was in the very old part of the building, behind the glass fronted facade. It was a lovely room with a wee sitting room as well as the bedroom and a large shower room. There were also french doors leading on to a communal courtyard which was charming. Breakfast was substantial and offered a wide choice. The location was excellent just a short walk to the shopping streets and Lilla Torga, a charming square of old buildings and hosting a market at the weekend. I'd definitely stay at this hotel again if I ever get to Malmo again.
8 of us (4 Couples) visited the hotel and we were not disappointed. Very pleasant and friendly reception - both Simon and Michael were so helpful. The rooms were warm and comfortable, we slept well, no noise from road outside. Kettle in room which was a plus. Breakfast was really varied and we enjoyed, the breakfast staff were also very pleasant. If we want a 5 star hotel we pay £50 a room more, but we were backpacking seniors and this hotel was great.
The hotel is situated in a central location with proximity to historical center and public transport. It is 300 hundred metres away from the railway station and a few minutes walk to Lila Torg,Stortorget, Gustav Adolf Torg, Malmöhus and a little more walk to Turning Torso. The hotel is a small one with small and cosy rooms. It is close to the shopping district in which there are lots of eateries and markets. The breakfast and WI-FI is free, the hotel has a sauna which is free too.In the room there is a single bed with double pillows and a quilt. There are a hanger without doors, a safety box,a kettle and a tea-coffee bag with a cup, shoe horn, mini fridge with a small bottle of water in it,an electric fan,a work desk,a landline phone,a desk lamp, a bedside lamp, a chair and 3 electric sockets in the room. The bathroom has a shower with a rain shower head, a make up mirror, soap dispenser, hair and body gel dispenser, hair dryer and paper napkins. The windows can be opened, my room overlooked the rear of the hotel and it was a quiet side.Breakfast is served until 9.30 at weekdays and at 10.30 at weekends. There are local Swedish channels and English channels including BBC World News. There are 3 museums in Malmo, Modern Museum,Castle Park,Science and Maritime Museum, all within walking distance of the hotel.I recommend this hotel due to its proximity to the Central Station, the Malmo City Center, the shopping district and for its convenient price and free breakfast.
Good location, close to the Central Station and the Old Town. Very good breakfast, comfortable beds and cozy rooms. Good value for money. The bathroom was not cleaned well. There was a spiderweb in the room, above the bed.
Booked this hotel for convenience of proximity to the office, that is what i got (and nothing else!!). There is no restaurant in the hotel. I landed late and no possibility to get some food unless I walk to the center of the town. Breakfast is basic as well. The rooms are TINY and very basic. Sound proofing doesn't exist - I could hear the person in the next room snoring. Location - 9/10 (right next to the city center & trains) Check in experience - 8/10 Room - 4/10 Breakfast - 4/10 Check out - 8/10 Return - No
Location is really good, Crew its friendly, Price is really reasonable when stay hotel, room its okay size and clean, wifi works like 8.5/10, room its kettle and coffee/tea, also its free coffee machine in breakfast room and that is nice service, minibar, its quiet place when i stay, only breakfast room its pretty small and everything is small amount there when few people take it food its empty really fast and need wait somebody bring more food. My opinion is if single room price is max 65-70€ then sure.. Anyway i need recommend this hotel.
I've stayed here twice already, because the hotel is in a perfect location (5min across the street from the central station), the rooms are comfortable, the staff friendly and the breakfast is fabulous!! The first time we where just two of us (my daughter and I) and had a room on the second floor, looking out to the back yard. It was little but very comfortable, clean and so quite! The second time we where travelling in 4 (2 of my daughters, a little 8-months old grandchild and me). The gave us a family room in the older part of the hotel. Very spacious (two rooms, with one double bed and one double sofa bed). The bathroom was huge! The coffee/tea machine is working day a night and you will find cookies available also. This is so appreciated specially when you get back after kilometers of walking around Malmö, and it is November (as the last time we visited). There is also two courtyards where you can have breakfast, but each time we where there it was to cold to sit outside (pity, because it looked really really nice) The only negative thing I can say is the some difficulties we had with our baby carriage (Bugaboo) which is rather large. We had some difficulties getting up to our room which was located in the far end of a narrow corridor (behind the breakfast room and the kitchen). There are also some stairs to get there. I will certainly return!
A great little hotel in the centre of Malmo near (opposite) the central railway station and only 5 minutes walk from the historical areas. I stayed in one of the single 'cabin' rooms. Though not large, the room was well furnished, comfortable and very clean. The bed was excellent; really soft. The free water is a nice touch. Speedy and reliable internet connection. Breakfast was a good mixture of hot and cold food. There is parking on the streets surrounding the premises (free after 6.00pm and Sundays). Would recommend.
This super great hotel is really close to the Malmo centraal station and to the city center of Malmo. It offers great view, great breakfast and very nice and helpful staff. I recommend everyone to stay with this hotel!
Had an enjoyable night staff very friendly good value for money great breakfast ideal central location close to the railway station the eating square and St Peters church waterfront views compact but efficient rooms.
Here do you want to stay like we do. Two colleagues, passing by for two days in Malmo. This hotel is for people like us. Efficient, clean and perfect room. Closeby the central railway station. this is the hotel that is good for us, affordable, very good room, but a slow elevator but we prefer the stairs. The breakfast is okay, not luxury. simple fide to eat and as we did to work. This evening, the hotel explores the area directly from the hotel. Everything is nearby. shops, museums, the old town, plens or restaurants and bars. So, take this hotel. Greetings from two Dutch teachers from Zoetermeer in the Netherlands.
The first impression when entering the reception is not the best. Dusty displays of the vase collection do not give a perception of cleanliness. Hotel is quite small and a bit obsolete. The room was fine with a nice view. Breakfast was simple and not really the value for money. I would not stay at this hotel again.
Well, this hotel is so close to Malmo Centralstation and Malmo city center also. As to rooms, we stayed in suite room and everything was so pleasant. Towels, sheets, pillows were very well-cleaned. For breakfast, everything was so good and also in 24h whatever you want to drink, coffee and tea machines are available. Besides, in breakfast you can find whatever you want. The price is really affordable compared to other hotels in Malmo. I liked this hotel very much by stating my reasons.
I had to travel to Malmo for a business trip. I booked at that hotel. I got a very clean but very simplistic, very poor, very naked room, with small windows for more than £220 per night. People at the hotel were fantastic but I still I can't understand how they dare to charge that much for so little. Highly recommended to avoid it!
We were pleasantly surprised by the Best Westen Hotel Royal. Our room was nice size and was very clean. The bathroom was spacious and had a bathtub with shower. The location of the hotel was central to everything you want to see in Malmo. Breakfast was very good. Lot's of choices to start your day off with a full stomach. Also worth mentioning is the staff. Everyone we encountered was very friendly and eager to make our stay enjoyable. This is definitely a great place to stay in Malmo for a reasonable price.
Good bed & spotless bathroom. Breakfast had plenty of choices both hot and cold and, with attentive staff, everything was available constantly. Only a pleasant ten minute walk from Malmo's main railway station, which is fairly central and nearby are several restaurants.
I had stayed here last year for the same trade fair and this years experience was similar. The breakfast offered a good selection and was of good quality. Room was only a single although my Diamond select card would normally provide an upgrade. Everything worked in the room so there was nothing really to fault
Really good value, we had a really nice and cozy room and also a quite good breakfast, which was included in the price. Perfect location, just a few minutes from the central station and the city center.
I stayed 1 night in a single room, booked through hotels.com which had a really cheap rate. The room was awesome and had everything you could want- super comfortable bed, TV with lots of channels, kettle, tea/coffee, hairdryer, safe, make up mirrors, luggage rack, desk, etc. Breakfast was really nice- fresh breads, coffee, juice, cereals, cold meat, cheese as well as hot options (eggs, bacon, sausage, crepes). Also only a few minutes from the station and friendly staff (happy to store bags free and also kindly checked me in hours early at no extra charge). Highly recommend!
This hotel is a great little hotel, located close to both the old town and the train station. The room wasn't the largest room I've ever seen, but the room was big enough and had everything we needed. The breakfast selection was very good, with both cold and hot items.
We stayed two nights. Bed was very comfortable and breakfast was good there was even a hot option. We were able to check in a little early having arrived early from Copenhagen and they stored our bags for an hour while we picked up our hire car. Staff were very helpful. There is a lift as well as stairs and it's very close to the station and old town.
This hotel is located in Malmø City Center, and you are in walking distance to everything in the old city, Very closed to Castle and a nice park for a walk or a run, Nice room and a very good breakfast. Parking garage facilities 100 meters from the hotel.
Spent 3 nights at the Best Western during a nearby conference. Really easy to find having arrived at the railway station (only 20 minutes from Copenhagen). The room was comfortable and clean with a view of the water and bridges.... The curtains need to be a little thicker as they let a lot of light in. Bathroom had shower only, with plenty of hot water at a good pressure. With amenities on site, ironing station downstairs, a small bar, and the restaurant for breakfast. There is a good selection of cold meats, cheeses, and bread, aswell as a few hot choices. Included wifi is a good speed throughout the hotel. Not sure what parking would be like if I'd driven, maybe a 5 minutes walk. This was a good choice of hotel!
We visited this hotel as part of a recent business trip and found it to be good but parking is a bit of an issue as street parking can be expensive. The hotel is old but has been somewhat modernized and is in an excellent location if you want to walk and eat in the city centre which is just 2 minutes away. The hotel has no restaurant but does provide a hearty breakfast. The rooms are a little dated but I would recommend trying to get a room at the rear of the building as my colleague had a room opening out onto the main street which proved to be a little noisy. All in all I would go back to this hotel which is not too far from the main station for those travelling by rail.
We were surprised to find we could easily walk to the hotel from the train station. Room was "cozy" small, immaculate, had teapot and coffee/tea in room, and BBC World as a TV channel option, nice because we hadn't heard English news in a while. We needed to change our room night, and the hotel accommodated our request with no fuss. There was a small extra charge, but only because our new night was during the business week.
My colleagues and I have stayed her on three separate occasions now, great value for money, always clean and tidy, staff always really helpful and breakfast is good and plentiful. WiFi reliable. It takes 5 mins max to walk from the station and is 500m from the old square, which is surrounded by restaurants, from expensive to TGI's, you can't get a better location. This place is small, it's not a Hilton but you get more than you pay for here. It's a good place to stay on business for sure and if your going to Malmo (which you should) for a break and not for the luxury of a 4 or 5 star hotel, you won't find much better.
Good hotel for a night. Worn out. Shower in a bathroom floods all floor. Clean comfortable bed. When you go for a breakfast around 9AM expect limited choice of a warm dishes. Good thing is a 24h Juice machine in the lobby.
Really good hotel with some great additions for the price. Breakfast had a good selection including hot items rather than just continental breakfast items. Only problem was some items not seeming to be restocked. However what was there was good quality. One of the best features was the fact the coffee and juice machines were not only on at breakfast but were available all day, along with biscuits. Free coffee and juice isn't something you'd expect at a hotel like this so was very happy with this. Sauna was small but for another free feature was a great addition. One exercise machine on its own didn't really add much though! Room was nothing particularly special but had everything you would expect. Fridge was handy. TV had good range of channels. Even though there was only one English language channel several film channels showed mostly English language films with subtitles which was great for us. Internet was fast and again included in price. Location was great, very close to station and only a five minute walk from bars, shops and restaurants. Housekeeping service had room for improvement. Some areas not cleaned and seemed to be fairly random how many cups or glasses we had on any given day. But really good value and very happy with this hotel.
The room was freezing cold. They tried to fix, with no luck. Ended up with an offer of a small heating fan. No 4 star hotel, something fishy with the rating. Colleague was here a few days ago. The zink was clogged and stain on the curtain that was hopefully tooth paste an not anything else. Another guest working for swedish televisiob was locked out of her room yesterday. Took 5 hours for them to fix. Will never stay here again. Owners seem to have no focus on customer satisfaction. Best westen should really re-evaluate if this is really a 4 star hotel or rather a shabby 3 star hotel.
very good hotel close to central station in malmo. best western standard and good price. Room with all the necessary things, good bed and bathroom. breakfast is ok. close to the city center. nice selection for fast visit.
We've never been truly disappointed by a Best Western (we were a bit underwhelmed once, but nothing worse) and Hotel Royal didn't disappoint. We paid ca SEK1700 for two nights, and got a nice, clean and spacious room. The location of the hotel is great -- it's within eyesight of the central train station and Lilla Torg is only a few minutes away by foot. It's easy enough to walk to the Malmo Hogskola as well. The breakfast was the usual Scandinavian one (with a few extras), and was good -- plenty of bread, buns, cereals etc.
The family room I got was small romantic in a country style with pine furniture painted pink and red furniture... a bit dated if you ask me. And definitely not for anyone taller then 180 cm. Had to walk through the kitchen to get to the room. Had to ask for a key to open a window. Shower small and lacking light even though I asked them to fix it. Naeee, not really top notch.
Walking distance from bus and train station, and close to most restaurants in downtown. Room of uncommon design and nice. Nice breakfast, but crowded dining room. Plus that is no noise disburbance, good windows and calm area. Found price good on internet site.
I would DEFINITELY come back to this very hotel as it had all the amenities I was after. The cooling system being turned off during our stay (after season??) during warm weather was the only downside to our stay.
The complete revenue lacks coziness. At breakfast there's no table cloth nor placemats. Also no fresh flowers or ambiance lamps anywhere. Breakfast buffet is not poor but you won't find fruit yogurts nor fresh squeezed orange juice and there's only one choice of fresh fruit. Rooms are very basic with very small pillows and without air conditioning (a tiny fan was available instead). Although it does have a minibar there are only two bottles of sparkling water available, nothing else. Unbelievably dirty windows (it lacks cleaning everywhere not only in the rooms, the moment you step in you can't miss it), hair on the bathroom floor (see photos of both right after our check in), finger marks everywhere, disturbing shower curtain. Elevator doors won't open when not on ground floor which forces you to take the stairs every time you need to go down so I hope you have no disability. When friendly informed this to the front desk, all I got was a dry "we know about it but there's nothing we can do". I think it wouldn't cost much of their time to get in contact with the elevator company and in case they've already done it, to inform the guests that it's being taken care of. Which forces me to bring up how dry and not client/ service oriented the staff is, not only in this situation. Oh, and there's no parking so you'll have to park on the street when you find a free place and pay attention to the parking meter limits. I guess I can say that it's a budget hotel on a budget. It is though very well located and beds were not so bad plus our room had a nice view.
As other commentators have mentioned, this hotel consists of two adjacent buildings which has led to one of the strangest layouts I have ever seen. To get to our room, we had to manoeuvre through a real labyrinth of corridors but when we finally got there, we were pleasantly surprised to find a rather big and well-equipped room with a nice bath and full-sized third bed for our son (apparently they call this the family room). The breakfast buffet which was included in our room-rate was also quite good, considering that we paid just about 100 Euro for the three of us. We also tried to free sauna in the basement which was a pleasant experience as well. Add the fact that this place is in walking distance to Malmo's central train station and shopping and restaurant district, the Best Western is a fair choice for budget travellers. However, if you tend to be a interior design fetishist, better go somewhere else.
We had room 218 and it was a very lovely room. The view was to the riverside. Walking distance to the center of Malmo. Very good breakfast. We enjoyed our time and slept comfortable. Also it was clean and the service was friendly. The only thing was the parking situation. We parked in the back road of the hotel and payed 160 SEK. For 1 night. This was the cheapest option.
Stayed 1 night ..that's all you need for malmo lol Great hotel Breakfast was fab ..bacon strips , herring , bread rolls, scrambled eggs pancakes meatballs I could go on lol plentyful and delicious ? coffee in the little courtyard was lovely Free tea coffee in reception all day ! I sleep and shower in a hotel that's what they are for ..For a short break nothing more !!! Had a canal view Had a great sleep with French doors open lol ..no air con
Within walking distance of Malmo's main attraction and pedestrianised areas, it is close to the shops and the restaurants. Rooms are reasonably modern and comfortable and we were lucky to find a parking spot just outside which was free as it was the weekend.
The location of the hotel is perfect. Just a a two minutes walk from the train station as well as Lilla Torg where you can find a handfull of nice restaurants. Right in the heart of Malmö. The hotel itself is divided in one old and one new part. The new part has nice fresh rooms. The old part is in one of Malmös oldest buildings. It has cosy rooms but lack some of the modern utility like AC. I had room 117 which you kind of had to go thru the kitchen to find. In this non smoking room the main thing I really didn't like was that there was a smoking area just outside the window. As it was really hot and no AC I had to sleep with the window open. To wake up by the smell of cigarette smoke hasn't been nice at all since 1989 after a night you've been really lucky. The staff is friendly but somewhat preoccupied.
Firstly, this hotel is easy to find and a short walk from the station and old town with lots of lovely bars and restaurants. The staff were really friendly and helpful and the breakfast was exceptional. We stayed in a suite which had new and old features and was absolutely fabulous would definitely recommend booking a suite, and a really reasonable price too. I could not fault this hotel or city at all and would not hesitate to go back or recommend
We had room 117. To come there you had to go through the kitchen. The room was not a typical Best Western (see my other reviews of BW). Dark and small. What you expekt in a cheap pension. Hot. As it was bottomfloor, we did want to open the window. Dangerous level between room and toilet. Beds far to soft for our taste. On the good side: Location, near station and center. Breakfast early and good, though some items of inferior quality. I am sure the hotel have much better rooms. Stay away from those around 117. The picture is the bathroom door. PS. A few days later we slept in our best BW ever. Plus Isidore Rennes.
A nice welcome despite the European Championship in Football that is easily diverting Attention...clean rooms, clear lines, functional, enough space. All combined with a view towards the North some steps away from old town Malmö...
3 night stay in a suite (worth the additional cost) in the old part of the hotel, overlooking the court year - which was not noisy. The room had fridge and tea/coffee making facility, which were useful, plus there is a free-flow tea/coffee/water/juice station (and biscuits) in the reception/cafe area. Breakfast was very good and constantly being replenished. Hotel reception staff were always very polite and helpful. Also enjoyed making use of the sauna. The hotel is very well located for the train station, which was a couple of minutes walk away on the same street, and again only a few minutes from the Lilla Torg (square) which has a lot of bars and restaurants, plus the main shopping street. Would definitely recommend and not hesitate to stay again if in Malmo.
We stayed here for 3 nights and were very happy with everything. We came over from Copenhagen on the train and were able to just walk over from the train station to this hotel pulling our suitcases in less than 10 minutes. The staff were always friendly and helpful and a very nice breakfast is included. You can literally walk out of this motel and get to just about anything. Plenty of shops, restaurants and we took the train for a short day trip to Lund which was very enjoyable. Beautiful gardens!
I stayed in a single room for one night. The room was quite small and the bed was a small 90cm wide one. Can't complain about the comfort of the bed though. The was clean and of good standard except there was no air condition. But since my room wasn't facing the street I could open the window at night and there was also no sun heating the room. Breakfast was good even though I missed fresh fruit. There was only some kind of orange salad. Location is only a few minutes from the railway station.
The Hotel is a short stroll from Malmo central station and Malmo centre, it looks a bit shabby on outside but once inside it was fine, friendly and helpful Reception staff. We had a room for three which had 2 beds and a pull out sofa bed, The room was nicely decorated with plenty of room there was a mini fridge, safe and tea/coffee making facilities in room, The room and bathroom were very clean. The Hotel is on a busy street so rooms at front of Hotel are very noisy, but once the windows are closed its ok. There is no air con. in rooms but a fan is supplied. The Breakfast area is compact with a good selection of food available. A big plus is the coffee/fruit juice/water machine which is complimentary and available at all times. There is a nice courtyard with tables and chairs nice to sit and relax in.
The hotel was ok, the location was perfect, very close to city center. The room was fine. Breakfast was very nice, good choice of food. One of the receptionist was very helpful, the other one could be more supportive, we asked for direction of the parking and we ended up looking for it for over 30 minutes, returned to hotel and got the same quality of explanation.. Other than that all was acceptable.
Small rooms but cozy, with everything a traveller needs. Great location only 5 min. Walk from train. Lots of restaurants nearby and convention centre. Old town well worth the visit without huge crowds. Fabulous breakfast
This is a lovely hotel very close to the old town of Malmo. Rooms are very nice, bright and clean. Not certain whether all rooms have been renovated though. Ours was quite new. The only drawback was that it was close to the lift and we could hear it almost all day. Breakfast was amazing with all sorts of things, cold and hot choices. Staff were also very professional.
Trouble throughout in getting the electronic room key to work. Bath tap dripped. Cable tv very difficult and confusing to use. Expensive in view of only average facilities. Breakfast bar very poor.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
I booked two nights at this hotel and I was overall very pleased with everything. The location is great - located right in the middle of the old part of Malmö and a 5 minutes walk from the central station. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the breakfast buffet left nothing to be desired. My room was on the fourth floor and was on the small side, but that's really a luxury problem considering everything else. Thanks for a nice stay :)
Stayed here with family for 2 nights recently found hotel to be bright airy and modern. Staff were all happy approachable and very helpful. Location is great 5 minutes walk to main train station close to town centre. We had 2 rooms 1 family and 1 twin which were both larger than expected we found them to be clean tidy and comfortable, nice size bathrooms. Breakfast was nice and hot plenty of options available my son was impressed with the endless supply of pancakes & coffee . There was also option of complimentary hot drinks and biscuits throughout the day & night. We hired out bicycles whilst we stayed and staff were happy for us to carry them through foyer and lock them up in the courtyard outside our rooms which was very helpful. We are already talking about returning to Malmö and will definitely look to book and stay here again.
Stayed three nights and it was very good for the money. Only a few minutes to Lilla Torget and a lot of restaurants. Also very close to central station. Rooms quite large and cleaning was good. Sauna to be used for free was a plus. Breakfast ok but nothing special. Would stay there again.
To call a hotel basic would normally be to damn with faint praise but not in this case. Ineeded to stop in malmo for two nights without spending too much and this hotel fit the bill perfctly. The BWR doesn't offer much in added features (if there was a gym or pool I didn't see them, but neither did I miss them) but what it does have is all the basics covered to a high standard. Location is a 5 minute walk from the railway station and about 7-10 minutes from the central square with plenty of places to eat and drink. The hotel does a good continental breakfast but doesn't have a bar or resteraunt. However there are plenty close by. The hotel is nicely decorated to a good standard and clearly well maintained. Everything was very clean including the room. The reception was always manned and the staff very helpful. The room was fairly compact but more than adequate for my requirments. Good bed, good shower and free Wi-Fi. I'd be more than happy to stop the the next time I am in malmo.
Very basic, not very clean, rather unfriendly staff. Stayed here for one night because my standard hotel in Malmö was fully booked. This hotel is overprized for what it is offering. First Best Western I stayed in that was a disappointment.
OK for a night or two but do not expect luxury. I had a small room with a single bed. Had a fridge, so BYO. A bottle of mineral water was provided which was a nice touch. Fast WiFi and for free. Breakfast was 5/5. Friendly staff. Close to the station and center. No complaints really. You get what you pay for.
You can't get away from the fact that this hotel is basic. However, the rooms are ok, breakfast fine and the staff really accommodating. I had to leave very early and they made me a pack up Breakfast to take with me. The best singular thing about this hotel is its location, on the river near the train station and very central to the bustling squares on Malmö. Basic but great!
We've booked two nights in this hotel on booking.com, requesting a higher floor/ quite room. Upon arrival we received a 1st floor room, went to leave the luggage and discovered that it was actually a ground floor room, with all the windows facing the inner small terrace where breakfast was served. The entrance to the room was basically trough the kitchen. We asked the receptionist if he could give another room as this one had no privacy and did not seem very safe to leave the luggage in. Surprisingly, there was another room available, second floor, but he did not move us because one of us used the toilet in the initial one. From my point of view, this is a really bad customer experience and the staff could have considered our request in the first place or at least take 10 min to clean the toilet and give us the other room. As expected, the room was very noisy in the morning and we woke up at 7:30 both days because of the kitchen and breakfast activities. People were at our window, in the inner yard, the staff prepared the food. There was no possibility for us to open the windows either. The room itself was spacious, clean (except for the wooden floor that was not varnished, thus was not very clean), with a good bed and a TV. The reception and dinning area resembled more a guest house than a hotel. The breakfast was ok, with basic food: cold cuts, cheese, bread, eggs, meat balls, bacon, biscuits etc. Coffee and tea are free and available in the eating area. The location is very good, 5 min to the train station or to the mail city plaza. A parking garage is available near by (120 SEK for 24h). The bus 999 to Copenhagen is 7 min away.
We we really happy with our stay in the hotel, especially with the value for money. We had a large room with all mod cons. The staff were all very pleasant and it was nice to have a coffee machine in reception that we could use whenever we wanted. Unfortunately we did not use the sauna, but there is one there for the guests. The one downside was that we were in a ground floor room and it meant that when the curtains were open people could see clearly into our room. It was just a small negative and we would definitely stay here again.
The Best Western Hotel Royal is in the middle of Malmö, just a short walk to the Train Station and the market with several Restaurants. The Harbour with the "Turning Torso" is also not far away if you are not afraid of a 30 min walk. The Hotel is overall modern and clean. Staff is friendly and eager to help. Rooms are adequate in size and have a small fridge and safe. There is no parking opportunity offered by the Hotel. You Need to leave your car either in one of the streets or in the park house nearby (200m). The breakfast is a buffet with the usual options - very good. We have been here the third time now (always on a stop on our way to Stockholm). I would recommend it to anybody for a short stay.
The hotel is well located near the Malmo Central rail station, the tourist information office, the bus stop for the shuttle to Malmo airport and the city centre. The hotel is, however, nothing special. Room, service and breakfast all okay and would suit anyone who wants the convenience of being near transport links, but otherwise not a great deal to recommend it.
