"Pleasant and comfortable"

4
31/07/2018

We stayed here for two weeks while assisting family with a medical issue. The room was larger than one might expect and quite comfortable. The decor was dated and worn in places; however, given the price, this was a good deal. The breakfast buffet is a winner--expecially when you purchase half-off tickets at the front desk. Our breakfast was around $7 (US) per person and was all-you-can-eat. The shower was large and the water pressure was wonderful--it was always a pleasure having a great shower in the morning. The location was wonderful. Taxis are plentiful and there are trams and bus stops adjacent to the hotel. There are several convenience stores within one block of the hotel and you could purchase almost anything you might need. There were several western-style restaurants also within one block of the hotel.

"Just terrible!"

Stayed at this hotel for a week, and I am not exaggerating when saying this is the worst hotel I've ever stayed at. The room decor and furniture were worn out. The bathroom ceiling was brown and filthy. Beds were uncomfortable. The reception staff was not service minded and lacked English language skills. Breakfast was of very low standard. And the gym didn't have any functioning workout equipment or air conditioning. To be honest, it was more like a small storage room than a proper gym one would expect at a hotel. All in all, an awful experience.

When i was came to take, i was in need for rest room, then i ask receptionist for the rest room at the lobby. She said CLOSE. HER NAME IS CHEERY SO. Im keep looking and then ask the concierge, The uncle said just below Lobby. It just funny and i feel anger at the same time.

"Comfortable room but terrible service"

3
17/07/2018

Honestly speaking, the rooms were better than we expected. Really clean and the help was awesome. However, the lady in the foreign exchange counter was rude. I still have her name in my mind since she raised her voice at me. I was politely asking for some services, but there are a couple of people still waiting on queue. She must've had a terrible day however what she did was unacceptable; my sister and I were the only asians (and females) on the line while the others were of European & American descents. It must've been easier for her to be sarcastic with us than to be rude with the other customers. Some staff were extremely helpful and hospitable, while the others didn't even bother to exert their effort. That being said, I might come back for the affordability and convenience if the staff attitude would change.

"Always stay here. Location is the best "

5
13/07/2018

This hotel is our regular stop now in Hong Kong. Good size rooms and walking distance to HKU and Sai Ying Pun MTR stations. Also over the road from the A10 airport bus stop. ??. Really close to Soho and Central attractions and a Ding Ding stop at the front door. Rooms are really spacious and well maintained too. Staff are always very very helpful. We've stayed here 5 times and it's the best on the island as far as value and location is concerned.

"Suited my needs but service was...meh"

09/07/2018

The rooms was clean and comfortable. But whenever I needed help from the front desk they were less than pleasant to say the least. A few times I was actually shocked at how rude one of the people behind the front counter was. Not a good look for the hotel if this is the first guy you come in contact with.

Stayed here with my daughter for 6 nights, apart from good room size and good location I was very disappointed about the free wifi which was a daily struggle added to the beds are really hard to sleep on. Cannot recommend breakfast either.

"worst experience ever"

1
03/07/2018

Booked this hotel last month by mistake as I meant to stay in Kowloon. The two hotels have identical names which was misleading. Where should I start? Hotel refused to cancel booking or swap with the Kowloon branch. They refused my request to speak to a manager saying it was a week end. Very rude and hostile reception staff especially when I asked to speak to their manager. I had to check in as I had paid online. The room was tiny, dirty, tired and the view from the window awful. The bath room very tiny and the shower area is meant for midgets, it was 1 x1 meter and i kept banging my arms against the glass. The location is very far from all popular shopping spots in Kowloon and Tsim sha tsui. Most quests from main land China or idiots like me who booked by mistake thinking we were booking into Best Western Plus Kowloon. I travel a lot and have stayed in many hotels across the globe, this by far was the worst hotel experience in my life. Not only I hated every thing about the hotel and their staff but it affected me that i doubt I would ever visit Hong Kong. To be fair, the only positive thing to say is the concierge was nice and spoke good English. Please if you book Best western Plus hotel make sure you chose the proper one in Kowloon not this sh.hole in Hong Kong island.

Jason L, Front Office Manager at Best Western Plus Hotel Hong Kong, responded to this review
Dear Mr Danny Refer to your comment if the booking is reserved under non-refundable terms then it could not be cancelled or amended. If the booking can be cancelled that the only possible way is to cancel the booking here and the guest have to rebook the new hotel base on their current room rate and terms. Reservations could not be moved to another hotel as the room rate would be different and most important is the billing issue. If you have paid the room rate online then the money could not be transferred from your travel agent to another hotel. We regret that you do have a pleasant stay this time and please accept our most sincere apology on behalf of our team. "WiFi is absolutely abysmal - barely works. Do not stay here if you need to do any work."

1
01/07/2018

The location, price and room size are good. If you want a nice big, clean room for a cheap price, with strong air con, this is your hotel. I only paid $50. However, they wifi is absolutely garbage. There is no password protection so I'm sure that is impacting the speed in this very dense area. If they had normal wifi speed, I would give this 5 stars for the value alone. However, since it doesn't work I have to check out early and go to a normal hotel. Pretty useless.

"Good place to stay in Western Central"

24/06/2018

Excellent place to stay in the west. Staff are very pleasant and efficient as well as helpful. Didnt check in until midnight due flight delays but no problem at all. Room was large comfortable and clean. It is located within walking distance from the Shun Tak building so as I was heading to Macau in the morning very convenient place to stay. Its located on the Blue line for the MTR so very easy access to Central station and the MTR network. Highly recommend value for money!

"convinient location"

"Good stay for 7 days"

5
10/06/2018

I have stayed here in the first week of June from 2nd to 9th June. I am more than satisfied with the service, aminities, room size and stay out here.I had stayed in Superior Suite. On different parameters please find my rating with the description. 1) Location: Good location near to the MTR. If you are near to MTR the location is a good as you can reach any palace in Hong Kong in less than 45 min including the change of MTR. 2) Room fixtures: Furniture and fixtures were good in the room. As I had takea higher category room the size was good with a good size for bathrooms. The value I paid for the room size in hongkong makes it value for money. TV could have had more channels with more English options. 3) Service: Staff was all smiling. The room was cleaned every day with bottles replinshed, towels changed everyday. Infact on one of the days I forgot "Donot Disturb Sign" on. They had put a message below my door to call them to get the room cleaned. Very particular of the service. The only issue you will face is that the most of the staff is not good in English but that's my problem as I don't know their language. But they tend to make it up with the service. 4) Amenities: They had a gym and a swimming pool but I don't use it hence cannot comment on the same. They had an arrangement for food but I never had it. Added advantage is they have a convenience stores like seven eleven / K central / vanguard near the hotel. It'sactually very convenient to get stuff like water / milk / bread / butter etc. Also has other options near them. If I have to rate each of the things 1) Location: ***** 2) Services: ***** 3) Room fixtures: **** 4) Aminities: ***** 5) Overall Rating: ***** 6) Value for money: *******

"Good Hotel. Well located. "

09/06/2018

Found this hotel very efficient. Staff knew their jobs but were not friendly. Check in was fine. Room was huge and clean. No complaints. Bed very comfortable. Breakfast was hit and miss. Not the best. Would have been unhappy if I had paid for it separately ! $98 hk was way more than it was worth. Hotel is well located on bus tram and mtr routes. Weather wasn't kind until day we left. Nevertheless I would not hesitate staying at this hotel again.

"Good location, Good Property"

4
08/06/2018

Located very close to Metro line this hotel can also be reached using free Airport shuttle which is available to the users of Airport express. Though the hotel does not offer rooms with a view because of its location, but still its location is good enough for a tourist who wants to visit various places in Hong Kong and not specifically spend time in the room. Rooms are comfortable as you would expect from Best Western. Early checkin is a rare possibility.

"Nice place to stay and go anywhere with "traditional" touch"

4
07/06/2018

First I would say this hotel is very very very comfort for those who want to go around Hong Kong with its unique old fashioned tram. Very cheap, just step away from the front door. That's the best part for those who want to go sightseeing around the city. Others? Hmm... relatively good.

"Good location"

4
05/06/2018

Stayed here for 4 nights last year in May. Location was nice with trams and buses available at the doorstep. Check in was smooth. Staff was cooperative for most of the stay except for one instance. While checking out, it was raining outside and had to just cross the road to reach the bus stop. Asked for an umbrella but they didn't provide, instead one of the staff came with a dirty towel as a solution. How can u put a towel on ur head and walk out of the hotel. Such a disgust. We managed to walk in the rain and checked out of the hotel. All other things were too good about the hotel and the staff but the above experience made all the good work go in vein.

"Clean, professional staff, great location."

31/05/2018

We booked this hotel as part of a wider holiday package with British Airways and was really impressed with the price - around £600 for a week at this hotel and return flights. The location of the hotel is second to none - two stops from Central Station in the heart of Hong Kong from which you can navigate the surrounding areas and catch ferries to neighbouring places and even Macao. The staff are also professional and courteous and will make every effort to make your stay as pleasant as possible. The cleaners did knock despite having the "do not disturb" light on but this was no problem as it was obvious that they were keen to help. Our return flight also didn't leave until gone 11pm so we were allowed a late check-out of 6pm which helped us to freshen up one last time before a long flight back to the UK. If you're on a late flight yourself and have booked as part of a package check with the staff for this facility - it may allow you to have an extra day in the city without having to think about an early check-out. There are also several excellent restaurants and a few bars located less than 2 minutes away so you're covered for that. In addition, there's a 7/11 across the street for cheap beers and snacks should you need them. The hotel may not have the extensive facilities that other higher-priced establishments may offer but really you should be treating any hotel in Hotel in Hong Kong as little more than a place to shower and sleep with so much to do in the city itself. I would stay here again without a doubt - clean, comfortable and a great location. Everything you need for a hassle-free base to explore this great city.

"Last minute deal! "

28/05/2018

We got this hotel at 10pm and checked in at 11:30pm on the same night. It was an amazing deal at HKD $700 for a suite. Huge room, including a sitting room with 2 sofas, 2 TVs, a bed room with double bed, a walk in closet, bathroom with a shower room / toilet room. For this price, it was an awesome deal. In this summer heat, the AC in the room was perfect. Hygiene is great, and basic shampoo / body wash / toothbrush / shaver ... Were included. The only down side... The corridors don't have AC! Very humid and stuffy outside the rooms and between the elevators. But other than that, worth a stay.

"Excellent Family Friendly Hotel"

Great Rooms @ a Great Price!. Hospitable and helpful staff right from reception till cafe etc.. Pleasant stay and warm welcome. Excellent food quality & quantity - served both at cafe and in room Perfect AC and amenoties Great wifi connectivity

"Ok as last resort "

3
12/05/2018

I'm never happy about staying here but it is just about satisfactory as a last resort, while being probably the weakest of the Best Westerns in Hong Kong. The location is OK but a longer walk from the nearest MTR than one can usually expect in HK, and there is nothing to speak of in front of the hotel. The desk is almost always understaffed, meaning long waits and impatient staff and the general decor is tired. Rooms are Best Western standard, although dated and dreary, with grubby old curtains. Cleaning staff can be a bit noisy in the morning. But you are at least getting a consistent albeit basic, hotel-grade experience, rather than a chaotic ‘boutique' hotel, or paper-walled motel. And the prices are often amongst the cheapest hotels on Hong Kong Island, which justifies the 3 stars, although I would have given it 2.5 if I could. With better staffing it would be a worthy 3, but it's just too much of a grim experience at present.

"Decent Accomodation"

4
12/05/2018

Had a bit of an issue checking in since I was staying with my brother for one night before I checked into my own room. I tried to tell about it and they didn't do anything until my brother came down with his booking, which was about an hour wait. When I checked into my own room, they put me on a smoking floor, I didn't really mind too much but they didn't ask. Rooms were clean and there was a decent view of the harbour from my room. Fairly large rooms since there was a living area with the TV and a table, which can fit a bed if required. Getting here wasn't too bad. You just had to transfer from Hong Kong Central station to get to the Sai Ying Pun station. Once at Sai Ying Pun, there were signs to the exit closest to the hotel (B3). Location wise it wasn't too bad since it was close to the train and tram lines. They had luggage service so you can leave it there while you look around the city after you check out. Mixed experience but the prices were quite good.

"Outdated but accessible"

3
12/05/2018

Lobby and rooms are quite outdated and need refurbishment, but rooms are cleaned to acceptable standards. Reception staff are quite unwelcoming upon arrival, but the concierge are very helpful. Hotel is right in front of Water Street tram stop which makes it a great hub for getting around Hong Kong island. Sai Ying Pun MTR station is a 6 minute walk as well. There are convenience stores, restaurants, and good breakfast spots nearby too.

"Convenient location, quick check-in & check-out, very informative & helpful concierge"

5
04/05/2018

5 minutes walk to the MTR, lots of eatery with reasonable price, across the street from airport shuttle, quick check-in and check-out, very informative & helpful concierge. I will definitely stay here.

"Above expectations ( biggest room I've stayed in Hong Kong )"

4
02/05/2018

So one of the biggest advantages of this hotel is that the rooms are larger than the average rooms in Hong Kong and trust me that just makes you forgive a lot. They are all a bit dated and old but the space makes up. We didn't have the food here so no idea. Its a bit of a walk from the MTR , almost a 12 min walk, since one Is on the island - all the popular spots are 10 mins by cab. Specially the Wanchai exhibition centre and all the great party places and restraunts in Wanchai. Service is average. check in staff knows Basic English. They DONOT GIVE YOU THE ROOM TO CHECK IN BEFORE 2pm NO MATTER WHAT, so people are hanging around all day waiting to check in. We did get upgraded , maybe because this is our third visit to this property.

"Not great"

1
01/05/2018

Many negatives- internet never worked, room cleaning was below average. Same hand towel was kept back neatly folded. It could smell that it was used towel, even in buffet breakfast if the jam got over, it just got over, was not refilled.

"Location "

3
01/05/2018

I used points to redeem for a one night stay at this hotel. I had the deluxe twin room. It was spacious and lots of counter top space. Check in process was smooth. Everything in the room worked. Beds were hard and stiff even though I generally prefer firm mattresses. These were way too hard for the back. The room doors were affected by the movements of my next door neighbors. When they closed their set of doors, the movement created a suction force and moved my room doors too, as if they were going to open on their own. My advice us to deadbolt always when inside the room. The overall hardware of the hotel needs TLC. I gave it one point for location, one point for room size and one point for friendly staff.

"Above expectations met"

4
30/04/2018

We stayed here for about 8 nights during a Spring break (USA). After reading online reviews, I really didn't expect much of this hotel. I figured so long as it is clean and with daily amenities, it'll be doable. My main concern is also the location. I want a hotel that is close to the MRT or have shops and restaurants within walking distance because I travelled with my senior mother and an 8 year old boy. The location of this hotel is perfect. Everything is accessible. Walking distance to everything, even the Harbor. In the end, my expectations was more than met. The room size which everyone is complaining about is truly not that bad. we had two single beds, with night stand in between. We have an office desk as well and there's still some room for our luggage. I had 2 adult visitors who stayed for a bit while we talked and it was not as crowded. There's plenty of room for 3-4 people, really. And the bed for me was comfortable enough. I had a major back surgery just last year and I actually liked the firm style bed. It helped my back. My mom also didn't think the bed was hard. It's slightly firm but it's not an issue with us. The room was clean, could probably use a brighter shade of color but it's overall, a comfortable stay. They provide 2 bottle of waters daily for free, including bath toiletries and etc. Our housekeeping staffs was super friendly and accommodating. We have 2-3 rotating ladies and we love them. The front desk was always very friendly to us. I don't recall anyone rude, although sometimes, they are some who just wasn't smiling but never rude. Most of them speak English. Not perfect English but understandable. They give directions better. They spoke better English than Best Western Tokyo, where we stayed few years back. I would like to special mention a front desk gentleman named Kevin. I thank him for caring. That really went a long way - After a whole day in Disneyland, my mother became sick. She was tired and was developing flu-like symptoms. She wanted a fruit plate for room service but they didn't have that on their menu. So I went downstairs for breakfast the next day (Pasta House), hoping to order a special fruit plate for her to bring upstairs. I informed the servers, even the manager there that I'm willing to pay a buffet price for a plate of fruits. They denied my request, stating "no bring food out for buffet". I was not even asking for a tray of fruits, just a small plate. The Pasta house downstairs is not to my liking, they do have rude staffs there - 3 of them on different occasions acted very unfriendly and doesn't seem to want to help or do an extra mile. I was so angry that morning that I calmly went to the front desk. I requested to speak to the hotel manager or supervisor. Kevin came and spoke to me, he understood my plea and sent housekeeping to our room with a fruit plate for my mother - free of charge. He also asked how my mother was doing that evening and the next day. I introduced him to my mom 1 day later when she was feeling better. That kind of attention goes a long way for your guest, Best Western Hotel. Sincere or otherwise, it makes your guest feel special and I thank Kevin for that. I offered to pay for that plate upon check out but Kevin insisted, it was a courtesy plate. Kudos to this young man. And because of him, I shall be back in Hong Kong end of May 2018 and will most likely stay there again, if price is within my range.

"Hard rock bed"

Using points but not able to confirm yet upon check out. The staff couldn't turn on lamps easily. Internet was sketchy. Bed was solid, like sleeping on hardwood floor. Got a knot in the neck after 2 nights.

21/04/2018

horrible customer service. i read few reviews and agrees that they treat customer as if they are doing a favor. one of the front desk guy was so rude, as if please, thank you or sir/madam etc words were not in their dictionary. one example: i said: 'hi, i checked in morning and need to collect the key' he stopped me half way and said I KNOW, GIVE ME YOUR PASSPORT i was expecting something like "sure sir, let me check for you. can i have your passport please?" i felt insulted and my wife was fuming in anger and wanted to complain. there are pros as well: - airport bus just opposite to hotel - tram is just opposite

1. The Reception staff is not at all Customer friendly. For a Moment i felt they are customer and i am a Vendor who owes him some money. Can you immagine that guy asking me to go stand in a corner Line as if i am waiting for Immigration. 2. The Property is really really Old. You can feel as soon as you reach tje floor. Dont get fooled by the Photos in the website. They may have taken in 20 years back. 3. The Only advantage i see is that tje Airport Shuttle Bus pick up is right opposite to the road.

Service wise was so-so, not fantastic. But the room and hotel location was good, clean and easy access to public transport. Room service was good, room was clean and sheets changed, overall thumbs up.

"Poor wifi connection and Bed Bugs!"

3
26/03/2018

The hotel is conveniently located near Sai Ying Pun MTR Station and a couple of blocks away where you can get on A21 bus going to the airport. The staff are very kind and friendly. However, the wifi connection was intermittent and the worst part was my daughter and I were bitten by bed bugs. Not a very good experience sad to say. I hope the management can renovate the hotel because it is a bit rundown now.

This hotel kinda old, with quaint room, its really close to reach to all the places, and You can go to the AirPort directly with A21 bus from the opposite Road. But one thing I hate the most is the internet connection, it was So difficult to use the connection if You are in the room, So I need to go diem the lobby :(

06/03/2018

The big plus for this hotel is the price plus the spacious room (which is rare in HK, esp HK island). 1) Hotel The hotel is kinda dated. The decoration, the interior, exterior, electrical appliances are old. However, the room is clean and taking in consideration the price paid, the decoration can be ignored. Room is very spacious comparing to many HK hotels in HK island. Price is also very good. There's room service as well from the Chinese restaurant below. 2) Service Staff are nice and friendly, and they speak English as well. They are also very helpful. 3) Location This hotel is in front of the tram stop, but need to walk approx 5-10mins to the nearest MTR. Not too far walk, but if you shopped the whole day and legs are sore, can be quite tiring. The nearby doesn't have much, but can explore chic cafes and restaurants around the estate. The estate is very quiet at night, hence, get a very different HK experience.

"Room with NO Electricity "

01/03/2018

This is the worst Best Western hotel experience ever. I would never ever again stay at this hotel. Hotel staff charge my credit card BEFORE telling me that I wouldn't have electricity in the room. No Air con, No hot water. They know in advance that their will be an power outage but DOESN'T CARE to tell me in advance. I canceled the room and they just refund me without helping me finding new hotel or even compensate me for this matter. Very greedy management, unethical, unprofessional

Dear Patara C Thank you for your comment, we have reviewed what you have mentioned and agreed that we should have done better to cope with this situation. Once again we apologize for your unpleasant experience. Best regards Jason Lee Assistant Front Office Manager Best Western Plus Hotel Hong Kong

"A really big surprise"

27/02/2018

I got an exceptionally low rate for this property and with some of the lukewarm reviews, I really wasn't expecting very much. Certainly not a 4* experience, which is what I got for a 2* rate. This property really turned out to be one of the better experiences I've had in HK outside of the 5* properties. The location is pretty good, being a very short walk from Sai Ying Pun metro station on the blue island line, exiting at B3. There are many restaurants, cafes, supermarkets nearby and the trolley tram stops right outside. Just be aware that (as with most places in HK) none of the restaurants within 1 mile radius of the hotel take credit cards. Cash or the HK Octopus card only. However, there is a good restaurant on property where you can use credit or charge to your room. The lobby is welcoming and the staff friendly. It's all marble with comfortable seating and there's free WIFI here as well as throughout the property. One small niggle is that check in is strictly kept to 2:30PM or later. No exceptions. They'll store your bags for free if you arrive earlier. Rooms are surprisingly large. By HK standards they're palatial. I don't know if all rooms are created equal, but mine was more or less a suite. A large sitting room with international TV and a bedroom with desk/chair. I had two small twin beds, which were rock hard, but that's fairly normal for Asia. The linens were spotlessly clean. There's a safe, plenty of desk, drawer and closet space and good heating/aircon. The bathroom was somewhat dated and could do with an update, but perfectly clean and the towels clean and fresh. Despite the size, there's only a shower stall, but the water heat and pressure is excellent. Good amenities are provided. There's free bottled water, tea, coffee, kettle and a minibar if you want to purchase items. For what I paid, I'm astonished at how good this property is. Even if I'd paid a lot more, it's still a very good experience in a good location. Well worth checking out.

"Everything you need is withing walking distance"

24/02/2018

The room was great, spacious, divided into bedroom and living room. The location was excellent. It's walking distance to the tramway and metro. There are various convenience stores, markets and shops nearby. Almost too much good food in the vicinity as well. The price is good as well.

"Great Location..not great staff though !!"

21/02/2018

First visit with my sister to Hong Kong last week and we stayed at Best Western Plus.. Though location allows you easy access to all modes of transport and is located at a convenient distance from major shopping and great food serving restaurants.. We spent a duration of 3 nights.. however, from the welcome to us departing.. didnt have a single staff member greeting us. We understand the language barrier.. however, nothing costs a offering a smiling face. The breakfast is not worth taking as it offers more oriental options then any other.. close by cafes serve better spread for lower price. Room faced the harbour and offered great view...

"Front desk is worst"

21/02/2018

Idiot front desk specially in night time I was travelling with my wife and unfortunately booked in last minute through booking.com app As per protocol the guy from reception staff called me on phone and talking to me in such a way that he is doing favor to me if he will allow me to stay in that hotel. If you will not come in an hour i will cancel your booking. Come on man I am travelling with my wife night time (midnight) and having luggage and trying to explain you exact timing also still that front desk was rude like hell Cancel your booking he said almost 4-5 times. In minutes of conversation. I wish i had a chance to go somewhere that night i would prefer to go Front desk and the manager both were angry and showing very bad and rude behaviour. I was with lady since i didnt want to argue with them but it was one of the hardest time i had with these Front desk We are paying money and staying their in free of cost. One funny thing happened that the moment i said i will surely use the social platform to write about this behaviour, in a moment he upgraded the room ??????? Location ?? Staff service - ???????????????????????????????????

"Cold cave"

17/02/2018

My family and me spent here two nights in January (stop on the way to and back from New Zeland). After long flight, we were tired and needed to take a rest ...however, the room in the hotel was such disgustingly cold that it was not possible.. It was problem even to take a shower. The temperature outside and in the room was similar (approx. 16-17°C). The man on the reception said that they does not have any heating system... and he is not able to provide us with any portable heater. Terrible. From other points of view, the hotel is acceptable and quite clean.

"OK for the price"

3
13/02/2018

Well the main problem was not the hotel cause but burr it was not their solution either. We hit a cold spell in HK and found out that the hotel, as many in HK do (Or don't) have any heating units. No heat for three days all of which reach 40 degrees outside. They did provide as many blankets as you needed but that was about all they could do. Found the windows aren't sealed real well either but again a week earlier or 2 weeks later and it would have been no problem. Moving on. The hotel is not a modern BW by anybodies standards, It is acceptable and clean. Bags are held until they can get you a room or you are ready to leave in the open lobby but are chained together for your security. Front desk was helpful, but English was a 2nd language. The bellman was very helpfull and even walked us out to show us the tram system and taxi que. Would I stay here again? Unlkely but my arm could be twisted. Wi-fi was fine when my fingers warmed up enough to use the keyboard.

"Good location"

4
10/02/2018

This hotel is in a good location and easy to get to from the airport. Rooms are dated but serviceable. Reception often busy. Took lots of calls to get an iron and board. No recognition of diamond Best Western status. Good value for the location.

"Great location"

3
06/02/2018

Returned yesterday from a 5 night stay, great location for all trains, friendly staff & shops close by. The suite was ok but very dated & the bathroom needed a good clean, there was black mound surrounding the shower screen, toilet cistern & generally around the bathroom area. Tea/coffee making facility in the room, a hairdryer & also toiletries in case you needed them. We arrived & Hong Kong was experiencing a cold snap (10degrees lower than average) & the hotel was freezing to say the least, we tried the thermostat in room but it didn't work & carried blowing cold air out so we turned it off, mentioned it to reception & were told the the hotel didn't have heating but they did give us an extra quilt which was lovely & very warm, it was just the outside of it that was a problem! I would still recommend this hotel as after all they cannot control the weather, that said it would need to have heating installed or the facility to offer heaters to the guests before we stay again.

"great place to stay"

4
05/02/2018

this hotel is well located next to the tram stop and 10 minutes away on foot from the Macau ferry Terminal. Close by are many shops and good restaurants. The hotel itself is very nice and I got an upgrate to a higher floor with a very big room and a nice view. Reception is very friendly and helpful. Definitely will stay there again.

"Would stay again - for a couple days "

03/02/2018

Bathroom: has a blow dryer, spacious, shower has great pressure and hot water most of the time. Room: two singles, the beds are really hard/firm but not uncomfortable like springy but just firm. The room has lots of space for a Hong Kong room. View we got is of the peak and buildings. Rooms were clean. Only negative: there is no heat at this hotel. So for the two months Hong Kong is cold it's freezing. Like can't sleep freezing at night. When we called down for extra blankets because you have just thin ones we were told there are too many cold guests and they are simply out of blankets. They offered us robes which didn't solve the problem but helped a bit, I called down late at night and asked again two nights in and front desk said they can spare only one for our room. So if you are coming in cold season bring a blanket or layers for sleep. Check in/out: staff were easy to deal with and spoke English as well as I'm sure Cantonese and maybe other languages. Quick check in Location: Mini marts and Starbucks right downstairs. What seems to be a popular restaurant right across the street. If you fly in take the MRT yo Hong long station and then the shuttle bus that's free right to this hotel. Will cost you $15 for train and free bus and get you to your hotel in 45 min ish maybe even a bit faster. It is in west central - central is where all the ferries etc are and it's a simple two stop $2 train ride away. Food: small breakfast buffet at hotel for $95 hkd. Didnt eat there went across street instead to the Marriott buffet. More expensive but super good ! I would return again, solid hotel for price / features. Nothing too fancy but great for a few nights in Hong Kong.

"2 night stopover en route from Australia to UK."

3
31/01/2018

We stayed at this hotel 2 years ago en route to and from Australia, staying 2 nights on each occasion. At that time we were very happy with our accommodation and the location of the hotel giving us a chance to see a bit of real Hong Kong and not the expensive side. It is accessible to most forms of public transport even the airport bus. Based on our previous experience we decided to stay at BWPagain. Our outward stopover was as previously experienced. We arrived at the hotel at 8 am after a long flight. There was not a room ready as the hotel was very busy. Fair enough, we went for breakfast in the restaurant downstairs. After a short wait a room was available and we were upgraded to a room on the 6th floor which was quiet and comfortable. On our return journey we arrived early evening and was assigned room 2301. Well what a disappointment. The room was not big enough to swing a cat never mind open 2 large suitcases. We phoned reception and complained being told that we had booked a standard room, fair enough but based on previous accommodation this was Bog standard and you could have rolled straight out of one of the beds in to the bathroom. A different room was found for us and the concierge brought new keys and took us to the 6th floor, more like what we have stayed in before. One other disappointment was the breakfast room, There wasn't as wide a choice of breakfast available as on our visit 2 Year's ago and the room was in need of an update and some heating. We have recommended this holiday to family and friends in the past but no more. What is the PLUS indicative of in this hotel chain.

"Good business hotel near central"

4
21/01/2018

Already stayed there a couple times across the years and the hotel never disappoint me. Do not expect 5 star hotel.. but for the price, the hotel and its location is quite a bargain. Rooms are good on overall, quite spacious for Hong Kong, bathroom is clean and functional. Some room have view on the harbor and it is always nice to have that. No idea about the restaurants or breakfast, I usually eat outside since there is a wide choice to pick from. Tram is just outside, and your an in any case 15mn from central. Will go back again if I stay in Hk for business.

"Short break"

3
15/01/2018

Great room but no view. Hotel let down by lack of decent bar, only bottles of beer and expensive. No atmosphere in the bar at all & the lady serving seemed surprised to have customers. Hotel location was quite good, loads of places to eat nearby but mostly budget cafes used by locals, we ate in one and found the food excellent. Close to the metro station so the whole of Hong Kong was easy to explore.

"Decent hotel"

13/01/2018

Stayed here for 3 nights during a trip to Hong Kong. The hotel is set in a good location for eating out, accessing trains and important tourist attractions. Checkin was quick and easy. Staff were helpful. Our room was quite large and was very clean and room service completed efficiently every day. However, the room felt cold at times and couldn't adjust the room temperature and there was a noticeable draft coming from window which you could feel while laying in bed. We paid extra for breakfast but the food selection was quite limited. There was no scrambled or fried eggs and limited choice of fresh fruit and cereal. The breakfast area was also very cold as they had air conditioning on. There is a small gym but the equipment looked very out of date and not worth using. Overall, we had a pleasant & comfortable stay though.

"best stay in hongkong"

our room room was upgraded free by hotel management, view of harbour and city was great from the window ,room was quite big location of hotel is good at water street tram station and direct flier bus to airport we can get from opp. to hotel, they also provide fre baggage storage free of cost for hotel guest so overall great stay

4 days stayed. Good service. Helpful staff. Big and Silent room. Near to Metro exit B3. Lot of shops nearby. Fast WiFi and very kind concierge ??????????. It would be good to makeover some of old rooms.

"Best bargain in Hong Kong?"

4
08/01/2018

For less than $100 U.S. per night (on a long stay package) I stayed in a suite (which they called a superior room) with its own sitting area, with a frosted sliding door that could divide it from the bedroom. Very large indeed -- by HK standards, enormous. From the 22nd floor I had a lovely partial view of Belcher Bay, where container ships lie at anchor and various ferries pass by frequently. Location is excellent -- atmospheric neighbourhood (Sai Ying Pun) within walking distance of hip Sheung Wan eateries, etc -- with the "ding ding" tram stopping right outside the hotel. Short walk to MTR subway station as well. Taxis readily available. Very convenient without being in the central business district. Ideal, really. Staff is actually quite friendly, although a few are somewhat shy owing to language issues, which are easily overcome. Excellent and unobtrusive professional service. Room furnishings substantial and functional, slightly dated. Soundproofing fair to good, and the hotel is quite busy, although the noise is limited to children etc. rather than wild parties. Many visitors from the mainland stay here; I had no issues with fellow guests. Would be a five-star review but for the fact that the wireless can be insufficient during peak hours. Probably because demand is skyrocketing; capacity should be upgraded. I had a very pleasant stay and would recommend this hotel without reservations, unless perhaps you absolutely need flawless wifi.

"Needs a refurb and happier staff!"

04/01/2018

We are a family of four and wanted two rooms. When we arrived we were upgraded to two suites which was good and offered us far more room. The rooms were comfy with plenty of storage space and large bathrooms. They are now however starting to look a little dated and a bit battered and they and the whole hotel could do with refurbishment. The shower in our room had a large patch of mould growing around the screen! The staff were not very friendly and a bit grumpy. Our bags were taken up to our room and the men just stood there until we paid them - we did not like this pressure and they made us feel uncomfortable. The location is excellent with many superb eateries around and short walks to the metro stations and tram stops.

Hotel Western Plus is an average property. Very good Location . Rooms are small in size with all basic amenities. You can have good sea view from some rooms. Average food ??. Very limited in room menu. Hotel Lobby is small according to their guest capacity. During checkin hours you must feel so rush in the lobby with guests. Reception and crews are not so good . House keeping is really good.

"Good location, good value"

3
01/01/2018

We booked here 4 nights, using air miles. Turned out to be a great location. The bus from the airport dropped us right across the street, kitty corner, and the ding ding bus is right out the front door. The room wasn't fancy, but met all our needs and was spacious. Older but still serviceable. Staff were helpful. There's a lot to explore in the neighbourhood not far from the hotel. Uphill walking to decent restaurants. If eligible, we recommend seeking the seniors prepaid transportation card. We got around the city for very little cost. We treated the ding ding like personal hop on hop off tour bus. So cheap, so convenient. Bus back to airport also worked well.

29/12/2017

the rooms were fair enough and a good size but bathrooms totally pokey and outdated. thankfully for a three day stay it was reasonable as we spent most of our time outside the hotel getting the most out of an amazing city. one very important thing to note: the breakfast was just completely disappointing. limited options and from what was available it was completely unpalatable. even the glasses all had water stains and was off putting. i recommend not booking with breakfast.

"Damp and smelly "

2
26/12/2017

Not sure what to say but paying the equivalent of 150 Sterling a night I would expect better than this! Shocked by how dirty it was and won't be coming back! Location is good, that is all it had going for it! The damp and cracked walls were tolerable, but the smell and quality of cleanliness of the room was simply substandard!

"Nice hotel in good location for local transport."

4
06/12/2017

I had read some of the reviews before leaving the UK and on first sight I wasn't that impressed. BUT, we had a very comfortable 4 day stay. The staff were friendly, the room spotlessly keen, although the bed was as hard as a rock, although given that our days were spent sightseeing, it didn't affect our sleep. There are good transport links close by, including MTR stations and the tram service which at a flat fee of HK$2.50 (approx 25p) was a brilliant way to get around. The hotel is a little old and needs a little TLC, but I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

"We Keep Coming Back"

5
30/11/2017

As stated in our previous review of this hotel, its best asset is its location; very convenient to MTR, trams and buses, the latter two just outside the door. As well, a number of restaurants nearby. Rooms are large (in comparison to many other HK hotels), staff is friendly and helpful, and room rates are comparable to other hotels in the area. We again did not avail ourselves of the breakfast and cannot comment on either its quality or value. Nice view from our windows. And a big plus (no pun intended) for us are the free computer terminals with printer. We'll no doubt stay here again on our next visit.

"excellent stay"

29/11/2017

Having read negative reviews for this hotel, we were starting to think we had made a wrong choice. Booked as part of a British Airways inclusive holiday, we were upgraded to a suite on the 12th floor. Room was large, clean, had fridge and tea and coffee making facilities. Housekeeping was excellent, staff were friendly, good location for getting around as tram and bus stops outside hotel, along with taxis. It was a hotel used by groups so often the lobby area was busy and full of luggage being stored. As stated by a lot of reviews I would agree the bed was hard but we got used to it. We would certainly stay again.

"Comfortable hotel"

3
23/11/2017

Unpretentious tourist class hotel in a primary residential area which offers goo value and reasonably comfortable with easy access to public transport to all parts of Hong Kong. There are quite a few restaurants and convenient stores nearby.

"Location and value hard to beat"

5
21/11/2017

Becoming my favorite hotel in Hong Kong. Location is great. Trams and buses at the doorstep for easy access to the airport and tourist destinations, including The Peak. MTR just around the corner. Rooms are big and outlook over the harbor is awesome. Good cooked breakfast. Great value for money!

"Passable "

18/11/2017

Booked last minute for a short trip with overnight stay. A bit worn down and the first room was smelling so bad of cigarettes we asked to change. Received a free upgrade to suite, it was nice to have extra space given typical size of rooms in HK. Staff is very polite and friendly, view from the room on top floor was good

"Nothing "Plus" in this hotel"

2
17/11/2017

It is not my first time at a Best Western hotel but it was the most disappointing. Very old hotel in a old district. The personnel cannot speak good English. The breakfast was a disaster they cannot even cook scrambled eggs. We have asked for two not smoking rooms but one of them had a disgusting smell of cigarettes. The only positive is that you can take the tram or the buses just outside of the entrance.

"Value for money but in need of upgrade"

3
11/11/2017

I stayed here 10 years ago when it was Ramada. Nothing has changed apart from being a bit rough round the edges. The breakfast room is pretty depressing. Food ok. The bedroom is a good size with loads of drawers and hanging space. The shower cubicle in our room is stupidly small so much banging of elbows and knees. Just don't drop the soap! The staff are brilliant. Very happy, helpful and attentive. 10/10 for them. Great location with public transport living up to Hong Kong standard. Very busy hotel, which speaks volumes as the hotel is obviously well used. Unless you want five star luxury, this is a great base to see Hong Kong at a good price. We taxied to Victoria Peak today for $85 one way between four.

"Hotel discredits Best Western group"

2
04/11/2017

First, notice that this hotel located close to the mtr entrance but thus entrance is far from mtr itself. So, location is bad. Takes 30 minutes for metro/tram from the Central. I was staying here for 4 nights in 'improved(sorry have no idea about translation)' luxe room. I have been staying in Best Western hotel before in Finland and that stay was really good. So I was sure this hotel should be good. When I was checking out I found that hotel charges extra 10% for service. In my opinion it is ok only in the case of really good extra service. But the only two services I used are room cleaning and pre-check-in baggage storing. I think it is standard service for every hotel and have no idea which service I paid for. Staff even was unable to smile than they was checking me in. If someone ask me "do you want to give tips to the staff? " I would say "no". Reasons are listed below. So finally what I found in this hotel: - unfriendly staff at check in - cold room, I switched off condition system but room was staying cold till departure - no warm blankets in hotel, bad quality of mattress and pillows (very hard) - small 1.5 sq.m. shower cabin (that's shocking) - old furniture, sometimes stripped, lost lacquer? - dust on the carpet near furniture - need to wait for hot water (you remember, in small shower cabin) I don't think that bigger room is better than good room. I don't think that big room is excuse for poor quality. During stay I was thinking that it is just bad hotel and nothing more. Anyway I was too busy to spend time for complaining. But charging service after all these things was a little bit shocking. If you take money for service you should do your work good and take care about room quality. That's not about this hotel. If this hotel located in some Indian mid-size city it would be OK. But not in Hong Kong! For hotel staff, please don't write me standard "I'm sorry". You receive such reviews at least since 2014 and nothing changes. I'm upset I didn't check it before.

"Poor service "

2
02/11/2017

The rooms are small & dated but the hotel's biggest problem is the indifferent service. Front desk not helpful & English is limited. The Marriott Courtyard across the street is a much better choice- the staff there helped us out - even though we were not staying there-because the Best Western staff could care less.

25/10/2017

We had a room on the 27th floor, great views but the lifts took ages to go up and down. They have a very basic breakfast and the breakfast room is hard to find. For dinner at night they serve in the bar area and you eat off tables that are very low. The service at the desk is very good and the concierge very helpful.

"A tired hotel with a potential"

2
17/10/2017

It is about a time for a facelift. Looks OK from the outside, but toilets in the lobby are not of a kind you expect at a hotel by international brand. Check in was fine, check out took some time. Not sure if that is thanks to new rulers over Hong Kong but it seemed that staff was overworked with tons of papers that slowed down the procedure. Room size ( Suite-1 Double Bed) was good, but layout so-so. I would have preferred a king size bed and no divide between sleeping area and the little tv/ living room area rather than the double provided that would be challenging for a plus-sized couple. Bathroom too is in need of facelift. It is almost a yoga exercise to get the toilet paper while seated on WC. All in all this hotel has a potential.

"Decent rooms, services need to improve"

3
08/10/2017

The room sizes are decent, considering that hotel rooms in HK are generally quite small. The location is also good - right beside the Water street tram stop. One thing that needs to improve is their housekeeping. In our three nights here, the room was not cleaned properly even once. We had to call housekeeping and ask them to clean it. Even then, the staff cleaned inly the bathrooms.

the hotel situated in Hong Kong Island near MTR Hong Kong University Exit 2 I arrived at 9:30 pm, the receptionist Miechie treated me with high hospitality once I step into the hotel. Front desk manager Austin upgrade my room to Victoria Harbour Seaview Executive Suite knowing I am a international Traveller. I am Director of TLS Travelling and Leisures without Strangers and Asia Pacific Blue Ocean Team World Ventures. The hotel is a 4 star one but costs me only 3 stars money. As a whole, the team here is supportive , all staff I met treats me with nice hospitality which I normally will look for from a hotel. Best Western has lots lots hotel, the good of this one is very convenient, I went just a minute to a convenient store yesterday mid night. Overall, it has a home feeling which I love and quite a lots of European and South Korean and Japanese come. I recommend this hotel for its convenience situations and only 3 stars money enjoying 4 stars plus services. Lastly, I am having breakfast while I write this comments, I want to praise Alison working at cafe, she knows all about Hong Kong , and I love her smile.

"Slept Well"

Hotel room we booked in for two people was small, as with the usual budget friendly hotels in HK. But since most of the time we were outside, its not much of a problem. Its in the busy Tsim Sha Tsui (TST) area, with several stores and restaurants around. It's very accessible to buses and taxis, and walking distance to the TST mtr station. Its a basic hotel with a bath tub. But service is good. Hotel staff are courteous and helpful (even if they barely smile).

"Comfortable with Harbour View"

Enjoyed this hotel with an old colonial feel, young staff eager to please. Room comfortable and spacious with everything you need. Free shuttle bus from Airport Express train station stops by another hotel nearby, only a short walk. Buses stop right outside and trams outside too. Underground trains are a short walk by Western Street, a bit crowded but quickest way to get from A to B. We got an Octopus Card from Customer Services desk at the Central Station - use it on trains, trams, buses and ferries. Hotel restaurant was quiet, we had Thai curry which was delicious and got a discount because we were staying at the hotel. Location is a bit further from Victoria Harbour than I thought but it's so easy to get there by tram that it didn't matter and as we were on the 26th floor we had a great view of the Western harbour and all the boats.

The best way to arrive is by the tram, which stops right in front of the hotel. They found my reservation, made through Hotels.com quickly, and took HK500 deposit - they accept cash or credit card. Have an ID system for left luggage until official check in at 2pm, but got earlier check-in at 1.15pm. Room was as advertised- clean, spacious. Bed was hard, pillows soft and flat, probably worn through use, towels old and decor dated, but lots of storage in sturdy drawers and cupboard. In room safe available. My room had no view of the harbour- only other buildings. Housekeeping did a good job daily, and replenished tea/coffee and toiletries. Front desk, porters were generally courteous and business like. Check out was quick and without problem. Other pluses- Buses to and from airport stop in the side street only metres from the hotel. Quiet environment- both around the hotel and room Negative- Light switches confusing. Could not turn on the desk lamp - may be the bulb was blown - tried calling front desk to inform them - couple of times- never got through. Gave up trying and made do with lighting from ceiling. Wifi in the room was unstable sometimes. Other comments: Didn't try the hotel food, as I ate out all the time. All 3 lifts were working, and didn't have to wait too long for them, though other reviews mentioned how slow they were. Would consider staying here again.

"The Worst! "

Here are the things that really annoy me: 1) Receptionist demand payment for security deposit up front by cash or credit card, which works out to be more than 20,000 HKD for a 5 night stay. This means that most of the cash we brought to spend on holiday is wiped out ! 2) Rude receptionists who give attitude and can scold you (for example, we asked where can we get water and they simply replied that they don't know) 3) They give you smoking rooms by default, which can really be a nightmare if you can't take the smoke. You must request for a non-smoking room at the time of check-in 4) We had 4 heavy luggages to carry but the porters didn't even lift a finger to open the doors for us on arrival. We had to carry our luggage all the way to the reception before we received any help 5) Breakfast at 9am was almost non-existent: they ran out of sausage and bacon and did not bother to replenish. Why bother paying for breakfast that you can't eat? 6) The bed and pillows are as hard as rocks - you can't get a decent night sleep here Will definitely not stay here again.

"Terrible customer service"

06/09/2017

I just arrived to the Best Western Plus two days ago. The front desk gave a very cold reception, and was not very helpful.they didn't indicate anything, I had to take my luggage to the room. It was ok , so I got a room, spacious and nice. The first night went well, the second night a nightmare. Unbeknownst to me I was placed on a smoking floor, and the ventilators would through air as if someone was smoking next to me. I called the front desk to complaint, so Michi and Felix (front desk) said that nothing could be done until the next day and that I had to bring down my luggage, if I wanted a new room assigned. Totally not accommodating, they acted as if they were doing me a favor. Btw they questioned why I didn't tell them that I didn't want a smoking room, as if the default option is smoking. Today I got the new room, I unpacked again (did I mention I'm staying two weeks here) and then I was going to bed. The mattress is so old that you can see and feel the wires on your back. I again called the front desk requesting a change, however, Michi said, nothing could be done tonight until tomorrow. I made a circus to have new mattress and called the manager to have them move a new set of mattress into my room. I am extremely angry and I will not recommend this place at all. The manager resolved the issue after three hours. I'm not sure if HK customer service is that bad in general and this is normal. I will try to cancel and move to a new hotel tomorrow. Don't stay here there are more options that might be way better than this one.

"Don't Expect too Much"

Checking into this hotel on a typhoon day may not be one of those happy days you may want to remember. I checked in on the day of Typhoon alert 1, going to alert 3 early Sept, I have to braved the rain while lugging 3 luggages through the street on my way to Best Western Plus corridor. No Bell boy came to my assistance until I entered the main lobby and requested for help. On top of a paid Expedia booking, I have to pay HK$500 cash as deposit for use of room....otherwise my fridge would be locked up. What disappointed me extremely was the fridge was quite bare to start with, less than HK$100 of drinks and fridge not even cold! Maybe it is the bad weather but I will have to find a better day to return to this hotel again.

"Great value, Great location"

05/09/2017

Having stayed at a couple of Hotels in Hong Kong, this place was in the ideal location for me, just out of the way of the main areas, but within very easy reach of everything. The MTR station is easy to get to,or you can hop on a tram right outside the hotel.

"It was ok..."

29/08/2017

Staying at the hotel was a spur-of-the-moment thing that my friend and I decided to do as it was pouring outside and it's easier for us to get to work the next day, so we made the booking through hotels.com at around 8pm. It was around 9:30pm when we got to the hotel but apparently it hasn't received the booking from hotels.com yet so we had to wait for quite some time (eventually the receptionist still checked us in even though she hasn't received the booking from hotels.com yet), not the hotel's fault though the receptionist could be nicer. Our standard room got upgraded to executive suite, which was nice. Room was tidy and spacious. The decor was old but it's alright. The decor, the vibe of the hotel doesn't really float my boat but the location is great, with mtr/tram/buses passing and restaurants nearby. p.s. I didn't have my phone charger with me and I though a hotel must be able to provide that. But I was wrong, so remember to bring your charger.

"Oddly charming, charmingly odd"

I always dread the checkin when they can't find your reservation. More so after handing over your iPhone and seeing it being passed around the desk staff. Not only is it unsettling to think somehow, in some way your booking hasn't gone through, but also worrying someone will drop the previously mentioned phone on then floor (yes it has happened). Anyway, I digress. The booking was finally found and I was upgraded to a larger room. This was appreciated. The hotel itself is past its best in terms of decor. It was probably opened in the late 1980s, green carpets and light colored furnishings that are chipped. This isn't meant to be necessarily a negative- it adds to the post colonial type feel that perhaps tourists are looking for? Having spent 340 odd nights in Hotels over the last year this by far wasn't the worst or the best hotel I have stayed in. Pluses- the room was huge and afforded views over the harbour and towards Kennedy town. At hk$740 plus plus it was very good value for money. Close to the team stop (water street) and MTR (HKU). Good AC. Minuses- 3 elevators struggle with the volume of guests which seems to include inordinate numbers of Mainlanders on tour. Gym is made up of a couple of exercise bikes and treadmill. Pretty poor. No iron in room. Towels threadbare. Overall I would rate this hotel a Hong Kong Backup option and a solid 3 stars

We visit HK few weeks ago..we chose this hotel through Booking.com, as the pictures on their website look nicer than the reality..when we came to the hotel the taxi even cannot park to drop the luggages ..as the location just at the corner of busy entertainment business..when we see the room were very disappointed..very small & everything outdated..the carpet look so awful too..in their main lobby the have sofa which the top they cover with plastic too look weird...check your Credit Card statement when you book with this hotel..they charged you even you not their yet..( as Booking.com said they will charge at the property when you arrive).. so they already charged me..when I get there I saw them my CC statement that they already being charged..but still they will ask your CC again, when I asked why???.. they said we have to charge you $500 HK ( for security deposit).. it's weird no hotel doing this as you already being charged..when I check out I asked again about the $500 security deposit back..the simply said ..oh we will deposit back in two weeks..(I just sighed disappointed).. Pls find other hotel I think slot more nicer hotel other than this..

"worn out hotel need update"

Pros: You can get on either a A10 or A12 airport bus to the hotel. The bus station is just across the street.Lots of Hong Kong style cafe near by where you can eat. Cons:The room is smelly and old .Mattress is hard. The towels are worn out.

"This hotel RIPPED US OFF, DO NOT COME HERE."

First of all, the room was mediocre. The wifi was spotty especially at night and sometimes outright didn't work at all. The housekeeping staff were wonderful and pleasant, but front desk was unreliable. The most frustrating part of this whole thing was the laundry. We decided to do laundry (as our stay was pretty long). We decided to hand in 4 T-shirts, 5 pairs of socks, 6 pieces of underwear, 6 pairs of socks. The hotel uses a local laundry service and once we saw our receipt we nearly fainted. The total amount for a round of laundry was 507HKD. This is 64USD. It would be CHEAPER to THROW THESE CLOTHES AWAY and BUY NEW ONES. When I asked how this price was calculated, they calculated 'item by item' which is fine, but they said 1 sock (not even 1 pair, okay) was 20HKD (2.56USD). One T-shirt, that I bought for 4 dollars in Korea (5000KRW) was 42HKD (5.37USD). Does this make any sense to you? Do you see why I'd rather buy new clothes than pay for this crappy laundry service? The hotel staff, when I called them to explain price by price, even thought it was ridiculous but had no choice because they have a contract with that local service and suggested using another service next time. The pricing is ARBITRARY and a SCAM - they're trying to rip off of traveling foreigners. OHHH but of course, even though it's "item by item" if I were to bring, say a winter parka to Hong Kong and wash it here, it'd amount to a hell of a higher price than what my other clothes cost me. Please, for the love of God, don't come here if you don't want to be ripped off. Or if you do, never ever even THINK about washing your clothes. I'd rather travel around stripped naked than wear clean clothes from this crappy service. Please learn from my experience.

"Expected a better room "

This hotels best asset is its wonderful staff, attentive, friendly and helpful, the location is ideal if you like shopping etc. The lobby/ reception area is well presented and nice and cool when you enter. That's about all I can say that was positive, when you enter the tiny lifts be prepared to go back in time about 50 years, the rooms are terrible, small, old, and uncomfortable. The bathroom still has the old favourite- shower over bath with very old curtain, pressure is low and the decor in the room is just way past it's best by decades. The 3 star rating should be seriously looked at on the state of the rooms only, as stated the staff are of 5 star quality and the owners should have a serious look at either reducing the price or upgrading the rooms as soon as possible .

"Great staffing"

It was a busy hotel with different tour groups coming at the same time, while rooms were still being cleaned. The front desk and lobby staffs were very accommodating. Although it's an older hotel, it's still clean and spacious.

"An OKAY room."

We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights. So I booked 2 rooms, 1 room for my parents and another for me, my fiance and brother. For the first night we had a good wifi connection but on the following nights connection isn't good. we had to call reception and tell that its not working then they will reset it. (That's there solution) Another thing is that staff are speaking less english but they can understand you. (So be patient on communicating) The thing that i most liked is that it is very near to everything. just walk a little and your at the food plaza then walk a little the museums and the harbour is also nearby. then the night markets and other shopping center is very near as well. Overall, we had a great stay.

"Good room, good location , hard bed "

4
10/07/2017

We stayed here for 9 nights from march 4- march 14. The hotel room was pretty big for Hong Kong and we had 2 single beds but that worked out well because I broke my arm cycling and needed my own space. The staff were very friendly and they even gave me extra pillows and blankets to make My bed softer after my crash. The location was a 6 minute walk to the subway which was great for getting all over the island. The breakfast was a bit pricey and we found a great spot a few doors down that served omelettes and bacon for way cheaper. It's called Dear Restaurant but says "Cafe" on the front and its right on the corner heading to the metro. It's awesome for coffee too. Overall I would recommend the Best Western Plus for a quality stay at a very reasonable price!

"Worst hotel"

09/07/2017

First of all, they put us in a SMOKING ROOM when all of us are NON smokers! How could anyone let this pass? We stayed here for 3 days and honestly it was the worst 2 nights of my life. I asked one from the front office if the room we were staying at was a smoker's room because you could smell the strong cigarette just by entering the room. I was in fact right and I informed her that all of us were non smokers. She just told me that they couldn't do anything about it. They just called one from the housekeeping to spray air freshener, as if the harmful chemicals of the cigarette would be taken away. I made an e-mail regarding this matter on the 1st night and they offered for room transfer when it's already late the 2nd night. -the room looked old -the food choices at the buffet is limited -the elevators are too small (beware claustrophobics) I could have let this pass if it wasn't our health to be compromised. I hope the upper management will not let this happen again.

"Good location, 2nd trip 2nd upgrade"

03/07/2017

This is the second time I've stayed at this hotel. If you get this place for $HK800-900 or less then it's good value. My room was upgraded, same thing happened last time I stayed there. Room was a great size for HK and the price. The main negative is there is no taxi rank so was hard to get transport. If you've a business meeting then leave a bit early. The location is walking distance to Central in casual clothes but that's not a comfortable walk in a suit. I stayed in HK on business and stayed at this hotel for Wednesday & Thursday evening before moving to one of their sister hotels up the street for the rest of the weekend. I think that if you want a low cost and clean hotel in a pretty reasonable location then this is a good pick. Views from the room were decent as well.

This hotel is located on the Chatham street , there is a bus stop just outside hotel and Tsam sut Tsai is within walking distance. There is nearby markets and lots of restaurants available. Nathan road is also in a walkable distance. We stayed for two nights at this hotel and our room was on the 6th floor. Room was very small but the room had all standard facilities including a safe locker. Breakfast was good with choices of fruits, juices and veg/non veg items plus corn flakes. Free WiFi was available in the room.

My second visit to this hotel. Previously it was Ramada and was renamed to best Western Hotel. Although it is a bit dated but still clean. My request for high floors was made and given room no: 2715. Check in was a breeze and able to get a room at 1200 noon. Although we spent most of the day outside, we were happy to stay in this hotel for the price we paid for. Will stay again while in HK.

"Very basic hotel in good location"

26/06/2017

We stayed here for 7 nights and chose the hotel due to its location as we were planning on spending most of our time out exploring so just needed a place to rest and shower. We got the CityFlyer bus from the airport which stopped very close to the hotel. Just a tip aswell if you are planning on getting public transport from the airport get the bus instead of the train it's miles cheaper and take you to the hotels door. The lobby area is very nice but don't set this as the standard for the rest of the hotel. Didn't take us long to check in and we were given a room on the 8th floor. We got into the room and for some reason they had checked us into a standard twin room when we had booked a superior double. There was an overwhelming smell of stale smoke in the room as well so we went back down to reception. They swapped the rooms over but did not apologise, in fact they didn't say anything at all! The new room wasn't any better, same stale smoke smell, yellowing curtains, dusty furniture. The bathroom was ok but our shower did break on the 2nd day, we spoke to the maid about it and it was fixed by the time we got back that night. All in all I would definitely not stay at this hotel again. The rooms need seriously updating and they need to get rid of that smoke smell. Also the mattress was extremely hard but we got used to it. Only plus point is location, short walk to the train station and the tram is right outside. Also lots of convenience stores dotted around open until 11pm-ish. We had paid for a late check-out which is 6pm, we got back to the hotel around 2pm to pack and head to the airport, got up to our room and the room card had stopped working, went down to reception and they had stopped the card because they had us down for a 12pm check out. Had to give us a new card to get back into the room. Hong Kong was amazing but will definitely pay a little extra to stay in a better hotel next time.

"You Get What You Pay"

25/06/2017

A very basic hotel. The hotel website indicated it's 5 minutes away from the MTR. Yes, it is 5 min to the entrance of MTR, but it's another 10 minutes from the entrance to the train platform. In fact, the hotel situated between two MTR stations, Sai Ying Poon and the University stations. SYP maybe a wee bit closer. It's an older hotel as it used to be the Ramada Inn. Stayed here when it was the Ramada. Didn't see any change, i.e. improvements, upgrades etc. They only change the signage of the hotel. Have to commend the location of hotel is very close to all the buses, trams that take you anywhere you want. The area itself is very local and you are able to see the local livelihood. Service in the hotel overall, in particular the front desk, is only at an "acceptable" level. Never see any of the employees smile at you, to show appreciation of your business. Could be a result of lack of training or the hotel see so many guests day in and day out.

"Good Hotel, Good Value, Convenient Location"

4
14/06/2017

A cab from the airport will cost you about 50 bucks US for 2 PAX (it's far). An airport shuttle will cost the same 2 PAX about $40. NOTE: DO NOT believe Agoda which shows this hotel has free airport pick up. It does not. The hotel is older but clean and with nice woodwork and cabinetry in the rooms. The "Ding Ding" (a 2 story trolly) is right outside the front door, as are half a dozen excellent and inexpensive Chinese food restaurants. The bus stops close by going in either direction. You can anywhere in HK quickly and easily from here. The ferry to Kowloon is close by (10 minutes) and a comfortable air conditioned 2 decker bus to Kowloon is right outside the front door of the hotel.. You can find fancier places to stay in HK but for convenience and price point, it's hard to beat. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. Especially so the Concierge staff. We'll stay there the next time in we're in HK.

"Most Disappointing"

10/06/2017

We were promised a superior room with City views. Our room was so small one of us had to climb on a bed or be in the miniscule bathroom whenever the other person needed to move around. There was absolutely nowhere to place our luggage as cases wouldn't fit in the wardrobe. The whole hotel is extremely shabby and our "city view" was the shabby back wall of the neighbouring high rise and a couple of roof gardens filled with junk. We did eat the buffet breakfast on both mornings but only because it had been reduced to half price. just as well as it was very limited. The location is quite close to the subway station and the free train/airport shuttle drops off at the nearby Park Hotel. I regard this as a 'budget' hotel although we paid far more for it thinking it was up to Best Western standards. It needs an inspection by Best Western as it is not a good advertisement for their brand.

This hotel was a old Ramada, Best Western is adapting it. Old hotel but big rooms for Hong Kong. Very close to new metro station Say Yin Pun, and the dry fish market. you have the DinDin stop in the door. Personally the best way to go to Central or Almiranty if you have time. Is clean and confortable...but take note: the beds are new and are like Rocks!, also the pillows¡ Nice views of the harbour

09/06/2017

Stayed 3 nights. Location is at western end of town. Tram stop virtually outside the door and a 5 minute walk to the Metro. Approx 15 minute walk to the ferry terminals. Reception fast and friendly although I found a couple of the reception staff a little officious at times. Concierge was friendly and helpful and adequately provided all information we required. Our deluxe room had a harbour view, it was clean and spacious but a little dated, a refurbishment is probably due. WiFi was ok and everything worked in room so no maintenance issues. The hotel did not have a bar area and we did not try the breakfast, however, dozens of good places to eat and drink in the immediate vicinity. Several supermarkets are also nearby. Cannot comment on the value for money as it was included as a stopover on a longer trip.

"Friendly staff, good location"

The hotel is well presented, staff are friendly and the rooms are of a good size. Breakfast was not outstanding but acceptable. The only negative was the bed, like a brick to sleep on. Location for airport express bus is excellent.

03/06/2017

Decent sized rooms for Hong Kong and good value for money, but I would not stay there again if I was travelling on business. The computer room shuts at 12am. They also lock the toilets on that floor so you have to go back to your room or the lobby to use the bathroom. There is an empty lounge on the 5th floor but numerous staff tried to make me move on - even during the day. One even suggested I work in the hotel lobby! Overall I would this place is good for leisure travellers but stay somewhere else if you need a proper business centre. I would have given a lower score but for the fact staff at reception tried to raise the issue with upper management

25/05/2017

The service is very good, too bad they don't offer free breakfast. I was busy to ask if they had a swimming pool or something, although, I saw on the ground floor a massage chair and a mini gym as well as mini wine cellar. On the upper ground you can leave your luggage if you arrived early or you will leave later than 12:00. The room I had was nice with centralized air con or heater, adjustable temp. Nice t.v.where I plugged my pc to watch my own Netflix stuff. I liked it.

"Extremely badic"

Just a room to rent essentially. Room was empty except for bed and side tables. Bathroom was fine, clean enough. The breakfast was not great but convenient. The staff helpful. The location is ok, it's five mins walk to a Metro. No complaints, nothing to shout about however.

"Stop over visit gave us more than we expected"

17/05/2017

We were a group of 13, a mix of families, couples & singles on our way through from Israel to New Zealand. We stayed on the 23rd floor. Our choice of hotel was based on affordability so our expectations were low. We were pleasantly surprised! Staff were friendly and helpful. Facilities were clean and comfortable and our units were of a good size. Been located right beside a tram stop and one minute walk from a Starbucks Cafe were a real help.

"Great Location and Value"

16/05/2017

I stayed in this hotel twice in March this year total 7 days. The location is excellent with airport express buses and trams outside the door. MTR station is only 5 minutes walking distance. Macau ferry terminal is also within walking distance. Lots of restaurants and eateries nearby. The room rate I paid at the time was the cheapest in my numerous visits to Hong Kong over the past 20 years. The hotel was a bit aged but comfortable and staff were friendly. Excellent value for a short stay.

"horrible experience"

29/04/2017

I paid $700 us and it was the most over paid room I have every paid for. The lobby is not a reflection of the rooms. the rooms are old, rusty, dirty, smelly and feel like the furniture is 30 years old. There are stains everywhere, the bathroom was gross. They should be ashamed charging what they charge. In the US it would be a $60 / night room. unfortunately it was the only room available in town this weekend - now I know why

"Big rooms and excellent location"

25/04/2017

The location is excellent. There's a tram stop right outside the hotel and there's also a train station within walking distance. I loved our room! It's so spacious. There's a sitting area and a pantry area separated from the bed by a glass divider. There's lot of storage space for our things: cabinet beside the bed, shelves in the pantry area and another cabinet in the sitting area. Our room has a nice view of the harbor and our son loved looking at the boats. The bathroom is a bit small but it's functional. My only complaint is that the lifts are a small and it's a challenge to maneuver with our bags. Would definitely consider staying here again the next time we visit Hong Kong.

"Was a great hotel but now..."

23/04/2017

It was a great hotel last time but now, the room has an unpleasant ell of carpet. Next is the front line, during check ik and out, the staff did not show their professionalism. No greetings nor welcome words. Just stand there and waiting u to adress them rather. Very disappointed.

"Good for a couple of nights."

4
22/04/2017

We stayed on points on this property. I have to say that Best western's reservation system is very confusing when using points, fortunately I received an e-mail from the hotel with the requests of what they needed a day in advance. We stayed on floor 25 facing Queen St... view was not the better but we were received with a fruit plate in the room and two bottles of water. Hotel is clean but there was certain "mold" smell in our room that maybe I could not stand for more than a couple of nights and you can hear noises from the floor above... fortunately we just used the room for getting some rest. Hotel is well located and there are lots of places and 7 eleven nearby. Internet service was sooo slow at nights.

"Great value, well located crash pad option"

3
18/04/2017

Got a great deal for a "Deluxe Suite" via BA.com (tip: you can just book a hotel without a flight) Definitely not a high service option - the reception desk team were functional but not friendly. On the upside we were checked in within 2mins which is what you need arriving past midnight! I didn't even venture to the Cafe or other facilities but I'm sure they'd have been a bit dissatisfying at best... In terms of the room - it was aged but clean, well sized and had a view of the water. Shower was powerful and hot. TV had BBC world news. No noise from the corridor or others. Bed a bit hard but slept well. Plenty of sockets, supplied hairdryer, kettle, tea/coffee, minifridge. WiFi was free and fast. The air-con was surprisingly effective considering it appears to be centrally provided Hotel is very well located - right next to minimarts, a Starbucks, restaurants etc. Just a few mins walk from Sai Ying Pun MTR (exit B3) but we actually used the buses quite a bit - the stop right outside on Water Street had good connections to Kowloon in just a couple of stops. There was also a stop for the airport bus there. Couple of things to note - they store your luggage openly in reception if you leave it with them. We stored it at Central station for $65 a piece or if you can use the In-Town check in service for your airline that could be an option. Also there are a LOT of Best Western in HK - make sure if you are taking a taxi or Uber you are going to the right one! Overall for me this was a great bargain for somewhere well located to sleep in a city where hotels are very expensive and you are out morning to night anyway. If you are looking for sleek finishes, extra helpful concierge or a nice lobby bar then this is not the hotel for you!

"Average stay"

3
15/04/2017

It was an average stay in best Western plus Hong Kong. Hotel wifi was not working at all. Despite of several calls and reminders they didn't fixed it. Rooms are old and tired and all taps are very old and creating unnecessary noise even if you are not using it. Giving three star for only it's location and spacious rooms. It's near to two metro station, Ding Ding trams stoppage and many restaurants.

"Unpleasant Stay"

1
13/04/2017

All I can say is avoid this hotel if possible. The hotel staff and leadership do not hold the general standards of hospitality into account when dealing with customers. As a business traveller, I complained several times about the lack of wifi connection and the ordeal was met with ambiguity and lack of concern. After several complaints about the way I was treated by staff, the hotel chose to disregard my feedback and requests for consideration of my situation. Having lived in HK for some time, there are some phrases I understand as a gweilo, and I did not appreciate the negative attitude of the staff towards myself or other foreigners. Finally, I've never experience such negative energy in my life in a hotel room. I don't generally believe in the paranormal, however, staying in room 1208 actually made me stop to reconsider the existence of ghosts and demons. Yes the room rates may be cheap in comparison to other HK hotels, but always remember, you get what you pay for....and in this case, you're paying for very, very little - indeed you will just receive a haunted and unpleasant stay in a great city.

"good location but lived"

3
12/04/2017

from outside the hotel looks nice. but the rooms are lived, old and dusty. the breakfast is very simple and the whole hotel gives the impression as they still live like 30 years ago. the view from some of the rooms would be nice but the windows are so dirty that its hard to really look out.

"Functional, busy hotel. Nice room"

3
11/04/2017

Nice room. Efficiently run hotel. None too salubrious area, but lively and part of the Hong Kong bustle. Plenty of character in the area -cute trams run past the door. Easy access to all of Hong Kong. My room was quite enough -on the 28th floor. Not many facilities to make you spend much time in the hotel, but your in one of the liveliest cities on earth so why would you want to!

"Excellent for Price Paid"

4
11/04/2017

Hotel is excellent if all you are looking for is a bed for the night. if you want the added luxuries then in Hong Kong you have to pay a lot more Staff are pleasant and helpful but not falsely fawning over you like some of the more expensive hotels. Lifts are a tad slow On excellent transport links

"Very poor management - We will never return to this hotel."

10/04/2017

We are frequent travelers to Hong Kong and have always had pleasant hotel experiences. We decided to try this Best Western because of the location and nearness to local transportation. We are new members to the Best Western Group and the evening manager would not take our membership number or give us any information about the room. He claimed the A/C is preset, so NO Heat. The next day I asked the day Mgr./ cashier, MS Leung to break 1,000HK($150.00 US) and she just refused to even talk to me. I went across the street to the Marriott and they changed it for me even though we were not guests. The Best Western does not have a restaurant although there is a restaurant connected next door. Of course there is no bar or lounge available on premises. The rooms were not bad and the non management personal were friendly and efficient. The maids, bell staff, and doormen were very nice and helpful. I believe they should be the management of the hotel. We cut our stay short and my wife wrote a letter to the General Mgr, Mr. Nelson Wong and we have yet to receive any reply. My wife is fluent in English & Chinese, both Cantonese and Mandarin, so language should not be an excuse, I am 81 and she is 75 so we are not kids. We would tell anyone to stay in one of the other nearby hotels and enjoy the great city of Hong Kong. The best words we can say about the management at the Best Western Plus is that "they are curt'.

"Not your money's worth!"

1
08/04/2017

The bad: 1. Buffet paid $98++ per head and all we got was bland or too salty food and minimal selections. Food was not presentable nor palatable, most were too salty to my taste. Ham was presented with brine. Sausage presented with tomato sauce. Scrambled egg was wet. 2. Cable channel was limited! No Disney channel, no Fox or HBO movies. One channel for sports, CNN and BBC, and then most were local! 3. The bed was soooo hard and uncomfortable. Pillows were already flat (not fluffy). The size of the single bed is only good for one person, unlike other hotels whose beds were twin size. (They actually advertise twin beds, so I was expecting 2 twin size beds. But to my dismay, it was for 2 single size beds. I think they should clarify this in their ad) 4. Bedroom lighting was soooo dim! 5. Hotel Receptionist was not that comfortable with English. During our conversations, she had to check with the other staffs what I meant. 6. Cigarette smell lingering over the 5th floor (My kids and I had to endure passing through the 5th floor lounge just to get to the breakfast cafe. Their breakfast cafe is located in a mezzanine that is not directly accessible from the elevator) The good: 1. Location is a plus because airport bus stop was just across the corner. City bus stops and tram stops are also just across the hotel 2. Restaurants nearby to select and dine over yucky and pricey hotel food The verdict: If you are vacationing with family/ kids, I don't suggest this hotel. If you are traveling alone and will be on business, this might be a good option. But, I think there might be better hotels around the area. I don't suggest you book the room with the buffet, because it is totally not worth your money!

"Doesn't qualify to have a Best Western badge"

2
28/11/2016

Poor hotel and easily one of the worst I have stayed in given the high price tag. The rooms are as small as pigeon holes and the queen sized bed was a joke for two people. Happy I shifted to the neighboring Holiday Inn next day. Wouldn't recommend it to anyone!

"Clean, Comfortable, and Central"

4
28/11/2016

We were happy with our stay at the Best Western Plus in HK. The location offers easy access to the MTR and was surprisingly quiet for a hotel in the heart of a city. We booked the standard double which came with a living room area and a large bathroom. The shower is slightly small but otherwise we had plenty of space and were very comfortable. Unfortunately, Hong Kong is expensive most weekends therefore the price was on par with everywhere else we looked but we were happy with the value.

"A real plus hotel of BW group"

4
28/11/2016

Convenient location - easy access to airport bus stop and MTR station. Spacious room - room size is larger than other BW hotels in the district. Good amenities. Services depend on the staff's experience and quality (different staff at each stay, not all good but not too bad). It is a plus hotel though exterior building looks old and interior may find wear and tear.

"Comfortable and clean"

5
26/11/2016

We stayed here towards the end of October as part of our backpacking trip around asia and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We found the location convenient as tram stops right outside hotel. Rooms were cleaned daily and free toiletries were also provided. We didn't eat at the hotel as prices were too expensive and we were slightly disappointed at how small the gym in the hotel was but other than that we were very happy that we booked to stay at this hotel.

"an option in Hong Kong"

3
23/11/2016

The hotel is located on Western District easy access to MTR station with many restaurants on the surroundings ,the options are more limited than Causeway Bay or Tsim Sha Tsui, easy access from airport with bus A12 which stops extremely close to the hotel ,just cross the road. They upgraded me to a room with a beautiful bay view and mountain, room size is good better than many HKG hotels but bit dated, but is clean at least. As a quite tourist hotel with huge influx of people ,do not expect ,if you arrive before check inn time ,that will be rooms available . On pick time the elevators are quite busy .

"Good Location but room was not convenient"

4
20/11/2016

We arrived hotel @ 2:30 pm (check-in time is 2:00 pm), the receptionist advised that the room that shall be assigned to us not ready as the previous guest made late check-out so we have to wait for 1 hour to get the room ready, when we said that would be too long we need to get in the room to get some rest she searched for other room and assigned to us room # 911 and we figured out later that it is designed for disabled guests which was not convenient specially the bathroom Also they do not offer queen bed in room when we asked they said you have to upgrade to suite to get the queen bed otherwise we can only offer the twin bed

"Needs sprucing up"

3
19/11/2016

The rooms are average sized and clean. The shower needs a good scrub, some evidence of black mold in the grout. The lifts are small. Breakfast is overpriced for the options available on the buffet, they also close it down before the finish time so don't expect to turn up at the end of breakfast service times and find a full range still available. The staff were friendly and helpful. The area around the hotel is very much designed for locals and not tourists, there is a Seven Eleven across the road where you can buy an Octopus card and top it up, plus get supplies. Outside there are tram and bus stops. Outside and to the left there is a bank with an ATM about 5 minutes walk away.

"Forget It"

1
16/11/2016

Best Western - tiny, way overpriced, many better options around, sadly my usual hotels, Eco Tree, Holiday Inn Soho, Queens, all booked out. Cheap toiletries. Will never return. HKD2000 a night for a closet space.

"Great location,and fairly decent hotel"

4
11/11/2016

Location is very good and easy access to MTR, Breakfast variety not all that great, Matteress was a bit for my liking but was changed by adding a soft foam on top of the matteress. Not the ideal fix but worked. Value for money # star 3 star

"Poor Accomodation "

2
09/11/2016

Beds were very hard, bedding was torn, and pillows were thin and hard. Towels are threadbare and are in desperate need of replacement. Shower very small leaky, and moldy. Breakfast was very, very poor and sparse for the price they charged. Would not stay there again. Unhappy

"Convenient location"

3
07/11/2016

Pros: The hotel's location is very strategic - it is in front of a tram/bus stop and is a few minutes away from SYP MTR station. There are also a lot of convenience stores in front of the hotel. Starbucks is also a few metres away. Huge room - we got a Superior room that is technically a Jr Suite type. There is a separated living room from the bedroom. Free wi-fi Value for money - affordable rate for its class Cons: Breakfast buffet spread is very limited. The restaurant has no direct lift access, it is in an enclosed space that is on the 3F but can only be accessed through the 5F. The front office and housekeeping staff aren't really the most friendly in town, but are helpful. Mattress was on the hard side. We got ourselves an extra bed and it was springy. Old fixtures and fittings - the hinge of our toilet seat was already broken; cracked fittings Tip: You can get discounted breakfast vouchers (around HKD55/pax) from the front desk

"Western Plus Location"

4
04/11/2016

Transportation: to/fro the airport by bus (A10/A12) across the street for HKD45 adult rate; tram HKD2.50 adult flat rate from end-to-end; bus; and, MTR stations on both sides Laundry: take the side access of the hotel and walk up the road to get to Laundry One; HKD30 for 6lbs worth of soiled clothes Food: everywhere Connectivity: SIM card from 7-11 worth HKD80 and pin HKD50 for 5 days worth of mobile data for google map, viber, whatsapp, and all Room: spacious; absence of door sign but gets cleaned everyday, not superb but decent for a short stay; on your last day, you will not be provided with bottled water - what a way to spoil a good impression of the hotel for only a few dollars worth Bed: hard mattress but is actually good for the back, ask your doc about it Bath: spacious bathroom but tiny shower - you will have to maneuver your way if you are 5'5" and above; should have garbage bags for their bins Reception: good and efficient service; can store luggage Breakfast: simple fare, enough to get by Gym: useless; several pieces of punny equipment do not make a gym, get some basic usable tools - talk to any local trainer, not an accountant Business Center: hats off

"Disappointing"

3
31/10/2016

Booked in for a week, On arrival front desk staff efficient but not friendly. Room smelt of smoke. Bed hard - like really hard but managed to sleep on it. Shower area smallish. Clean and appreciated little tv/lounge area. Breakfast - very basic . Our Laundry wasn't returned - when we enquired it was given to wrong room.No apologies. Had to leave a payment of HKD500 as deposit. Wasn't impressed on last day of 7 night stay summonsed to front desk to make further payment - they already have c/c no. Felt like we weren't trusted (we are a mature age couple). Good points - cleaning staff good. Location good for trams, short walk to trains. Given bottled water every day. Would we stay here again. NO - there must be places better,. Very disappointed

"Worst stay ever"

1
31/10/2016

I am presently on business cum vacation trip for 16 days and have stayed in few hotel in China where the hotel staff was excellent. But when it comes to "Best Western Plus Hotel Hongkong" where I am staying is the worst hotel. The staff at reception sounds very rude even when they talk and have the "we don't care kind" attitude......

"hotel let down"

30/10/2016

Hi stayed at this hotel 7 nights booked thru Booking .com. and arrived late from Sydney. First superior room had a over powering smell of rats the bed was so hard impossible to sleep on. the shower cubicle a plastic module type was so small it was difficult to stand in or wash properly. two tea bags and tiny cups with a plastic stick stirrer. hotel reluctantly changed the room next day, all a lot better but the smell of rats still evident. I never give bad petty reviews but this hotel is awful. beware of booking.com advertising superior rooms this is the second time we have received sub-standard accommodation thru them

"Budget "

2
28/10/2016

This is a budget hotel and in some ways acts like one . Check in is 2 pm and is strictly adhered to , not one minute before 2pm do you get the key to your room , trust me , I watched the staff dole out the keys at 2 pm I thought this strictness to an hour was an odd characteristic of this hotel most try to keep their customers happy. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and are eager to help apart from giving you keys before 2 pm The other odd thing was the 5000 HKD they held as a deposit (almost $900 AuD) a lot of money if you only have a small limit on your credit card. They must expect most people to demolish the room before they leave Anyway that aside the hotel is comfortable enough , as always you don't spend much time there so as long as it's clean mostly that's all that matters The beds are a bit hard , but the air conditioner works well . They like not many supply plenty of free bottled water , which was appreciated. I keep saying this was a budget hotel cost about $400AUD for three nights so pricing is good . Just a few notes about Hong Kong , taxis are harder to catch they the goose that laid the golden egg , I tried to hail one many times and many times got the finger from the driver , so catch the rail network it's easy to understand, not expensive , clean and safe and plenty of help from helpful customer service Centre staff , I found the taxis the worst in the world , so don't bother. Next door to the best western plus is a Chinese restaurant, the food is terrific not cheap but Fantastic and they seem to have someone who speaks limit English on each shift, they also have an English menu , I have put the mans business card on this site

"Stay away if a good breakfast is on your wishlist"

2
28/10/2016

I can accept that the hotel building is outdated and needs surely an upgrade. It is of course not that simple to be renovating all the time. But I cannot accept a breakfast hidden away in a dark cramped room somewhere in the middle of a floor you can not even access by lift and where they run out of bread and croissants already at 09H00! The breakfast is simply poor, certainly to business standards, but also to what today's tourist may expect.Quality and choice are very limited, staff is friendly but cannot do much for you in those circumstances, management is simply non-existant. And for all that they charge 250€ / night, simply because there is a fair going on in Hong Kong.

"trip"

24/10/2016

Hotel and staff were very kind and helpful. The cleaning staff was considerate and efficient. when ever i needed help or directions to destinations, they provided directions and alternate tranportation ideas. traveling without a car can be challenging in a city ive never visited. The staff made exporing the city fun and easy. only negative, the fitness center

"Okay for price"

3
21/10/2016

It was an average 2 night stay for an average price. Location is close to the metro but located in a run down area of town. Not in the central part of town. The staff seemed a little reluctant to communicate in English but did. Concierge was helpful in suggesting a good dim sum place to eat nearby. Room was clean and simple. Shower door leaked every time we showered which would flood the bathroom floor and hot water wasn't consistent. Hairdryer was attached to a drawer with a short cord so you had to keep your head close to the drawer when drying you hair. Did have European and Western outlets to plug into so you don't need a converter. Overall it was okay for the 2 nights we stayed there.

"Nice Place"

4
19/10/2016

It is a fabulous place to stay however it was my last night in Hong Kong when I stayed here. Earlier I was in Kowloon Area which is more happening place. But I found this place very calm, quite with its old charm. You can also experience old trams here. I loved my stay. Nice budget hotel.

"Tired Looking Hotel"

2
19/10/2016

This is the third occasion that I have stayed at this hotel under both Ramada and Best Western. Sadly, I don't think I will return. On my first visit since the change of name, I could see no visible difference. Indeed, on entry to my room it neither smelled or looked very fresh. and all the while during my four day stay, i could not help but feel that the hotel requires freshening up. Although it was reasonably priced, I was disappointed with both the replacement towels and the general cleanliness of the room. It suits me to stay in this area but, on my next visit, I will be looking for an alternative!

"Disappointment"

3
17/10/2016

We booked this because it was a BW Plus and were disappointed in the hotel. The beds were rock hard and the room was in need of a complete redo. The shower was tiny and the water ran cold and warm. That being said this hotel is well located and public transportation is just outside the door. The staff was available at all times and were very helpful in planning routes and giving suggestions for things to do.

"Standard room - watch out as it is very small"

3
16/10/2016

Standard room is very small Watch out as you will be unhappy when you enter the room. You should take up minimum of superior room instead of standard room The website really does not state the differentiation clearly and so you might become victim of adverse selection.

"Old but clean and comfortable"

3
11/10/2016

This hotel is old style. It is worn out with old design. But it is also clean and spacious (which is rare in Hong Kong!!). It is like staying at your grandparent's place - not cool but clean and comfortable. The location is very good. There is a tram stop right in front of the hotel. Staff is nice and helpful. For what it offers, the hotel is usually really good price. But do compare - sometimes it gets as expensive as luxurious hotels, in which case it really is not worth it.

"Looks fancy"

3
08/10/2016

The room is nice and spacious. You have a nice living room to accommodate guest (I believe this is the only Hotel I had been with a living room). There is a nice shower room. Something I like about my room is the free coffee and tea. I love to drink coffee. I love the spacious living room also because I loved to raise my legs and watch TV sometimes. My only criticism about this place is that some staffs doesn't smile (except the receptionist who checked me in. She smiled because I cracked a joke). For me, part of the hospitality is a welcoming smile. However, I will not hold it against them because apparently, it is common in a lot of Hong Kong establishments like noodle houses and convenient stores and also because they still gave me a good services.

"Great value, Great location"

4
02/10/2016

I've stayed here a couple of times and it's not five star that's for sure but it's better than most four stars and located very well. Tram stop out front. Haven't eaten in house but why would you in HK

"Stay at Best Western Plus"

30/09/2016

Had a lovely stay at the Best Western Plus in Hong Kong. Situated near all attractions, restaurants, metro and bus station. Very clean hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff who can speak proper English. Would recommed to anybody visiting Hong Kong and will stay there again!

"Smoke"

1
24/09/2016

We had specifically asked for a non smoking room. Well in advance of the time..we checked in. Our room was not available so we left our luggage downstairs then we came back in the evening and we got a room filled with smoke. When we asked the concierge to change our room they said they were full and just sent someone to spray the room. Ridiculous

I had initially booked this hotel thinking it was at another location. But only realised that it was the old 'Ramada' hotel when I arrived. I had not stayed at this hotel before but knew it was popular. I arrived at 8pm and my room was ready. From the airport, take the Airport Bus A12 and get off at Water Street after the bus has crossed the Western Harbour Tunnel. It costs HK$45 from the airport. It's cheaper than the Airport Express. Get off opposite the Courtyard Hotel and walk across the road to the Best Western. The return bus is at the same bus stop, and it costs only HK$40 back to the airport. I had booked a mini suite which was a bedroom with a separate sitting area which is kinda nice. The bathroom however is small even by Hong Kong standards. The shower was in a stall and that was rather 'snug'. There is no bathtub obviously. I didn't use any of the other facilities eg restaurant for breakfast. The hotel is located on Des Voeux Road in the Western District of HK Island and there are numerous restaurants and shops all within walking distance of the hotel. The tram / streetcar stops right in front of the hotel and I would encourage visitors to try this when they can. It costs only HK$2.30 per ride regardless of distance. You enter the tram through the back, and you pay only when you exit. You may use the Octopus prepaid travel card too if you like. All in all, this hotel is good value for money and I would definitely stay here again.

Stay was okay! The staff were very accommodating and helpful. It's just kinda far from the airport and central part of the city but one I think I love about its location is that there's an airport bus right in front of the hotel which was very convenient.

"Really poor rooms"

13/09/2016

Check in was good. Not the rooms. Rooms are old. Hairs were everywhere on the floor in the bathroom and the room. Had to wait for the housekeeping person to clean everything. Not close to the subway station. Wifi most of the time didn't work.

"Reliable, spacious great value"

The folks here are very efficient- easy check in and out. Rooms are clean- big and practical. Great for business. Not sure about romantic breaks or holiday of a lifetime though! Location is convenient. Neighbourhood has become very trendy

I am Often staying in this hotel, in a busy area of Sai Yin Pun - rooms are large and comfortable ... Wifi working well at all time. One recommendation take your breakfast to the nearby Starbucks you will better enjoy it ! From this hotel you are two station far from central .. From the airport if you take a taxi it will cost you around 300 HK $ Enjoy your stay !

"No Airport Shuttle"

27/08/2016

One of the main reasons I chose this hotel was because their website listed Airport Shuttle Service. When I arrived and asked about it, they said no such thing existed. I would have to find a bus or taxi. The hotel itself is OK, a little tired in appearance but otherwise fine. Just really disappointed about the dishonest shuttle advertisement.

"Very affordable, extremely poor service with rude staff"

From our check in to the room service, everything went smoothly. Yes, the lobby and hallways are too narrow and shabby but what can we expect from a cheap hotel. The only thing that was off putting was the cashier, Elise Ho. She was extremely rude. We were in line and asked for our deposit refund which we got. Then we asked her a question and she told us to wait. We waited for only 10 mins (not a long time) standing beside the cashier, but when we asked her again, she shouted at us (like shouted shouted) -- "WHAT?!!!!". The hotel staff didn't do a thing. Even the manager was in the lobby looking at us. So we asked the receptionist instead who is a darling... And I politely told the reception in a clear voice (so that the manager and other guests could hear), "Your cashier is extremely rude and I expect you to please remind her about proper customer service. Thank you." The receptionist bowed her head to apologise. Then we left...

"Somewhat dissapointing"

The service was mediocre and a little disappointing. Didn't find the staff to be very helpful or accommodating. May be more suitable for locals rather than tourists. Also, the location wasn't very convenient.

"Very disappointed"

Good old Ramada hotel has changed. We stayed there several years ago and felt very familiar. Friendly staff, tasty breakfast and a bloody good happy hour in the 1st floor restaurant. Everything is gone and the 1st floor restaurant we missed most. The room was in a pretty old condition and could have been better cleaned up. In dead: We were very disappointed.

"Better place to stay in HK"

18/08/2016

Every time I am in Hong Kong I stay here. Rooms are much bigger than the standard in Hong Kong and it is clean. I never tried the breakfast but should be good for Chinese cuisine lovers. Ask for the higher room to get a harbour view.

"Not too expensive and adequate"

15/08/2016

Stayed 3 nights and found the hotel clean and roomy. The MTR B3 station is 300ms away and easy to navigate. Island blue line. $4.50 hk will get you to Central which you can then transfer to the Disney line Airport Express or across to Kowloon. Plenty of shopping malls to wander if so inclined. Two small supermarkets within 200ms left and right of the hotel. We bought cornflakes and milk and fruit and bowls cheaply or Starbucks for coffee and sandwich or muffin is less than 100ms away. The airport bus stop A10 or A12 $40HK is across the road in Water Street. Cheaper than the MTR but have the right money change isn't given. The staff are helpful at the hotel esp concierge but reception staff a bit dower. House keeping could do better, i picked up sewing needles + hair pins, spoons were dirty and there was no water bottles. They arrived the next day. The towels need tossing they were thread bare, greying and small, the beds are really firm but surpisingly ok for a restful sleep. Middle of the road hotel that can lift is game a bit more.

"Sad but true"

03/08/2016

Excellent concierge and housekeeping. Great value for the money. Bad everything else. Front desk ranges between pathetic, cold, and efficient and pathetic, cold, and inefficient. And their computer systems are a joke....don't expect to get your room before 2 PM, not ever...they use the same excuse each time on everyone - "the rooms aren't ready yet". The odds of them being full up at 100% occupancy every night and that no one checked out before 12 noon are ,mathematically improbable.

"Great stay "

The staff is very helpful. The room was clean .the place is perfect near the MTR and in front of the hotel there is a tram station near the pier of the ferry . It was a great stay . They provide us with a map of the city and answered all our concerns . If i went there again will stay there .

"Great value hotel"

Spent a night here and bagged a really good rate. The hotel is well located and clean. Rooms are spacious though ageing. The only downsides are the hard beds and plastic shower that is more suited to a camper van. However, these are only minor negatives and if you get a nightly rate under 500 HK$, you've got a bargain for Hong Kong.

"Superb for the money"

23/07/2016

This hotel is really brilliant. A real gem on the list of Best Western hotels. Only few steps to two metro stations, plenty of shops and restaurants everywhere around. No problem to eat in the middle of the night :) The room was spacious, comfortable, clean. Fridge and air condition worked well, internet connection was quite week, but acceptable. Staff was very nice and helpful. If you do not know where to stay in Hong Kong, do not think any more. This hotel is the right choice.

"What a waste of AU$520"

Upon booking in we went to the room and found the beds were extremely hard but that was not the main problem. There was a terrible musty smell and after looking around there was mould and mildew evident on the walls and ceiling. We went back down stairs to see the manager and tell him of our concerns. He responded by telling us he would give us another room. He sent a young man over to take us to another room. It too, was the same not as much mould visibly evident but the smell was overpowering. Again we went back to the manager, he then said I am trying to get you another room , indicating that he was on the phone doing just that. I explained that my wife had asthma and would most definitely end up in hospital if we were to stay in a mouldy environment. He asked us to take a seat while he arranged another room. We were hoping he was ringing another hotel. Alas he then sent the young man over to take us to yet another room. Upon entering the room the smell was not as evident so we decided that we would take the room. I went to gather our luggage but did not make it to the elevator when my wife called me back. She had opened the bathroom and was immediately hit with the same musty smell. What we did notice when we entered the room was that the power switch which is the type requiring the use of your room key card inserted had been activated by a master key card and the air conditioning was turned on. It was then easy to see what had happened . The manager had used the phone to organise a cleaner to enter the room turning the air con on to air the room but as the bathroom was shut it didn't get the airing the rest of the room had so the smell did not clear. The manger then attempted to offer us another room but by this time I had no faith in him to provide a room free of mould so I told him we would not be staying. We lost over AU$500 for 2 nights stay. But we could not have put up with it even if they paid us to stay!!! We walked out the front of the hotel and I was attempting to find alternative accommodation using the hotels wifi on my phone when a staff member walked over to the window to see what I was doing and then my wifi connection was disabled. Definitely would not recommend this hotel to anyone. I would not pay that amount to stay in a hotel in Australia let alone one in such unclean condition. DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL!!!!!!

I was right to choose this hotel despite some reviews that the hotel had seen better days, about "hard beds" or unfriendly staff. Probably it's not always the case and I experienced the opposite. I checked in late due to traffic from the airport but Ms. Mitchie of the front desk still welcomed me with a smile. I joked about a room upgrade and yes, she gave me Junior Suite with fruits, welcome drink and Harbour view. Suddenly, I had nothing to complain about. What I liked best about the room were the wall paintings, the queen size (not hard) bed with 6 pillows, and the bath tub. I didn't mind having only 1 TV channel since I had a fast internet access. They also provided me a socket for my laptop and that was enough as long as I could go surfing anywhere in the hotel. Except for hearing some noise from guests in other rooms, there's no reason to get a very good sleep. Breakfast buffet did not offer much variety and the food they served seemed similar everyday. Good thing they brew a good coffee, a nice way to start my day. Also, being a coffee lover, I always ran out of coffee in my room but the housekeeping staff never failed to replenish my supplies. They also provide a few selection for tea. The housekeeping lady was very nice and friendly to me, I may add. The hotel is very accessible to all transportation means: the MTR, tram and buses. Beside the hotel are restaurants and 7-eleven so you need not to worry about getting hungry late at night. What I also liked with the staff was that he referred Western Union beside the hotel for currency exchange since it offers a more competitive rate. That was very nice of that staff (I forgot his name). During my last night, I requested Mr. Felix for a little late checkout. Having stayed for a week, which he confirm just for a moment, he only replied "Sure". So most of the things I requested, the hotel staff considered. Checking out was a breeze as I didn't consume any drink from the refrigerator. Again, there's 7-eleven across the street. And going to the airport from the hotel, I just crossed the Water Street and in minutes, the A10 bus going to the airport arrived. If you are not rushing to catch your flight, I recommend to take that bus instead (you save at least $65.5) and enjoy the bus trip and the sights. Will there be another chance to visit HKU, I'll still choose this hotel.

"Good hotel and service but....."

10/07/2016

We stayed in a suite from 4th July 2016 to 9th July 2016. The room was comfortable and services in general was good except the attitude of one of the lady receptionist. Overall a very pleasing stay. The hotel is worth the price. Commuting is convenient as bus, tram & MTR are all close / within walking distance of the hotel.

"If it is not about I got early check in and base on the size of the room, I would have given this hotel 1 star only"

2
08/07/2016

From check in to check out, I notice all the hotel staff in this hotel has a blank face on them, no greetings, no smile at all at any given time. I got to the hotel at 12pm, was able to get a room right away, I read some of the reviews and people mention breakfast, so I thought it is included for all guest, but no, I asked about it and was told the onsite price is HKD$64, I booked the room through best western's own website, nowhere mentioned there is a surcharge for this. The room is decent size, there is a partially stocked minibar, the only thing free are the 2 bottles of Vita water. Bathroom seems large that even include and separate vanity mirror and a chair to sit on for ladies to put makeup or do their hair, but the problem is there is no tub for the shower, it only has a tiny enclosed capsule shower stall. If I swing my arms I would hit the walls, can't imagine if it is a heavier person would not even be able to get inside to shower at all. The door to the shower capsule doesn't close entirely especially near the bottom of the door, lots of water spilled out after the shower. Then when I actually looked more thorough to the shower capsule, there are tons of mold accumulated on the top, at the cracks all around ! Internet was fine (but not a strong signal) during the day, but after midnight it lost all signals, was never able to get back on again. Asked for a wake up call the night before, saw the person at front desk wrote down my room number and wake up call time at 6am, well the next morning receive no call at all, luckily I had my own alarm clock. Went down to the front desk to check out around 6:45am, nobody at the front desk, no hotel staff at the lobby, some hotels usually will put a bell on the desk if the desk is not staff at all times, but not this hotel. I waited for 15 minutes, still no one appears, so I actually had to yell out, I hate to do that but I have no time to wait any longer, have to get the airport bus for my flight. Then a person named Adrian Siu came out from the backroom, he appeared he just woke up, no greetings no good morning, just ask for my credit card that's all. He didn't say a word after so I asked if I am done, he just said yes, no thank you no goodbye. This person doesn't seem to qualify to work in the customer service industry at all, let alone in a hotel ! This property is way below the quality of the best western plus brand especially compare to those in the US. I stayed in this property is only because of price and I can earn points and airline miles through best western's program, next time I will definitely stay elsewhere for the same price and forget the points and airline miles. Some reviewers had mentioned this hotel is 5 min to the MTR, no it is not, it is more of a 15 min walk, however it is true that the A12 airport bus is just right across the street, lots of local eateries that include a 7 eleven are within 5 min walk, but not any tourist attraction.

"Never again!"

01/07/2016

From the minute we booked it, they start to block my card, even though it was a normal price. I dropped couple emails but no one replied. Upon arrival the reception was very rude, only worrying about the payment..Well, it was relatively cheap deal but still....Its easy to get to hotel from the airport but location is not the best in town...It seemed that this hotel is just trying to take the most of it before shutting down! Have known Best Western as a good hotel chain in Europe, this property was very much a disappointment . Rude staff, very old, stinky room, broken safe, AC was extremely noisy! Bathroom amenities was falling apart once you try to use it. Housekeeping started to clean our room before we even left for check out..Two star budget hotel hotel is the maximum what you can expect!

"Room is bigger than HK average"

28/06/2016

I was lucky to get a room here which was quite cheap given its size. Has a lot of electric outlets so you can easily charge / plug your devices simultaneous. Easily accessible public transport: bus and tram stops just opposite the hotel and MTR (HKU station) is just 10 mins walk.

"Good price for average room"

27/06/2016

An excellent rate prompted me to choose this hotel which was easy to reach as the airport bus A12 stops outside it in Water Street. Check-in staff not very friendly but will assist only if prompted. Room has adequate facilities but bed is on the hard side. It is on a bus lane/tram/ taxi lane so easy to travel from and to the hotel. Some still call it the Ramada Hotel Plenty of eating places around and numerous shops.

"Good for a short stay"

26/06/2016

Very good and clean. Staff is very helpful. Room big enough and bathroom is very spacious comparing to other hotels of the same category, price and nearby.Very accessible by MTR (exit B3). The buffet breakfast quite nice

"Short Stay in Hong Kong"

15/06/2016

Hotel is not close to main tourist area but transportations are all close by; airport bus right across the street, tram in front of hotel and 5 minutes walk to MTR (subway). No tourist shopping close by but lot of small restaurant (beware of MSG). Bed is a bit hard and decor is outdated, but otherwise an excellent stay, especially with the great discount I got from bestwestern.com

"Good choice"

5
12/06/2016

Heavy rains upon our arrival and a problem about a bag left in the bus, they allowed us to check in early around 10:30am. The staff are very helpful and the reservation officer Ms. Janine Siu patiently answered all our emails and she even hold the room for us and allowed us to pay our reservation upon our arrival.. Big rooms, clean and easy access to bus and MTR. We will definitely stay here again.

"Facility getting old, great location"

4
07/06/2016

Got a good rate this time when going back to HK for a few nights. Stayed at the same location (before it became Best Western Plus). Best Western didn't change much of the internal since taking over. So the facility is still the same and in fact getting quite old. Great location with many restaurants and convenient stores near by. With lots of public transports and airport bus right near by.

"Second Time Around"

4
01/06/2016

This was our second time to stay at Best Western Plus and as always they never disappoint us. It's old but it has the character. Very homey for me and my husband and my little one. Breakfast hasn't changed I think but it's good - all what you need for a long day in HK. What I love most is the transportation around. Tram right in front of the hotel door, bus to and from airport is just across the road and taxis everywhere. Fruit stand across and small restaurants. I never had any trouble with my booking and they front desk people were all efficient. Thanks guys and always love to recommend your hotel to our friends and relatives too.

"Good for the price"

31/05/2016

Located near the central of Hong Kong and with easy access of transportation nearby, I was surprised to get very good price at this hotel through online booking with a few days advance. I was told the hotel is relatively new, but it's obvious that it's been highly utilized (signs of wear and tear in the room/bath). Some improvements could be made easily - Iron and iron board should be added to the room, should provide more sturdy hangers for clothes (the ones in the closet were really weak and easy to break. Towels are clean but they all look they have seen better days.

"Basic and Economical"

28/05/2016

Centrally located with easy access to the tramps and ferries. Traveled with a friend.Check in was pretty fast. We opted for a room on a higher floor.Rooms are good with free wifi. Good view of the harbor from the top. Stayed there for three nights. We had checked out at noon but kept the luggage at the hotel as our flights was only after midnight.

"Good - Very decent place to stay"

4
24/05/2016

Very decent place to stay, price is reasonable and rooms are quite nice, clean and comfortable, especially the suite. It is situated in the middle of the dry food market which is a really amazing place. The bed mattress is really hard though. The bathroom is fine. I got a view on the harbour which was very pleasant. The hotel breakfast seemed a bit frugal, so I skipped it and went next door: there is a restaurant which is really well suited for that. I like the front desk service, people are nice and helpful. The tram station is next to the hotel (Water Street, direction Kennedy Town).

"Enough"

13/05/2016

Located near MTR and many markets and small restaurant, this hotel small but clean room. Really helpfull staffs and strong wifi connection, out only compaints just problem with the key that sometimes not working and the breakfast which is not too much variation. Recommended

"Ok hotel for the price"

3
03/05/2016

Reasonable hotel, for the price ok. Bathroom in my room (2708) needs upgrading, it's the only real fault in the room. Breakfast is not great would recommend going outside for breakfast. Good location, 5 mins walk from HKU and tram just outside the hotel.

"Reasonable price, close to HKU, really hard mattress..."

4
02/05/2016

The hotel is located 5mins from MTR with lots of dining places around- but you'd expect that almost anywhere in HK. We had an upgrade for our stay and the room is very spacious compared to others with comparable prices. The only drawback is that the mattress is really hard....feeling like you're sleeping on a cardboard...

"Good spot and value."

4
27/04/2016

I recently spent four nights at Best Western Plus Hotel Hong Kong. It is 5 minutes from MTR HKU, and the tram stop is out front on Des Voeux Road. I checked in late and was upgraded by the front desk staff, which great. The room was a good size for Hong Kong standards, but the bed was a bit on the hard side. Breakfast is nothing special, and can do better at any of the restaurants outside. WIFI is fast and works well through out the hotel. The business center computer and printer didn't work, but the front desk staff kindly printed my document.

"Good place to stay"

4
24/04/2016

It was a good experience to stay in the hotel. It was close to subway tram and bus. The tops floors gives a good harbour view. The rates were quite reasonable. The airport bus is very close to the hotel so it is really convenient place to arrive soon after the flight.

"Good location but can be improved"

3
21/04/2016

Hong Kong island location near all transport hubs . Services and many little touches need improvement to make this a jewel in a busy city. 7 hotels in proximity so definitely a growing popularity in trending spot.

"Good hotel"

18/04/2016

It was a good hotel at the right location. Loved living here. Very helpful. I stayed with my wife and daughter during December and they were very helpful and the food was also very good. I would definitely recommend being there at that hotel..

"Rarely enjoyed a hotel so much"

5
31/03/2016

In a nutshell: Warmly recommended. Stayed 10 nights. Average price some $50 USD / night, excellent value for HK. Built as Ramada Hotel. Location not central, but just 3 metro stops from Central Station (city centre) and 500m from metro station HUK. Double deck trams AND the direct bus from/to the airport stop nearby (100m). The area between the stations HUK and Kennedy town is interesting by itself, being formerly the old red light district and fish market (no sign of that today). Positive Spacious room, upgrade from superior double to suite (rather junior suite) with separate seating area. I did ask for upgrade having read previous comments, but I think they would have granted it anyway. Safe, fridge, lots of bright lights, spacious bathroom, endless closet and drawer space, not used up furniture. LED TV, a few western TV channels (4-5 I think incl. BBC, CNBC, Bloomberg). Fast wifi in room worked always. In previous guest comments there were warnings about rude front desk staff and bad room service. My experience was the opposite: Front desk staff was always efficient and forthcoming. Breakfast staff the same. Housekeeping was fantastic: Every special request was satisfied within minutes: Extra blanket? Electric heating body? Make up room at 8pm? No problem at all. Some sugar split behind the door? Discovered and vacuum cleaned. Two free water bottles every day? Refills for coffee/tee supply? Not once forgotten. Breakfast at some 7USD is decent, not very rich, but excellent value for HK (buy your 50% coupon from front desk, otherwise the breakfast staff will happily sell it to you at the full -double- price!). Negative There is a new skyscraper being built right across the street, facing the rooms with sea view, it will not be finished any time soon. I could hear some building and traffic noise, nothing major though. Earplugs could be useful, I used mine. I suppose the upgrades are a kind of informal compensation for this. Bed mattress pretty hard for my taste. When you activate the "do not disturb" light indication, housekeeping will still call you to ask when to clean the room. Unplug the phone to avoid this.

"Nothing Exciting"

3
30/03/2016

We stayed here for one night after landing late in Hong Kong and after struggling to find the place eventually made it to our room. They are ok without being anything completely exciting, but for the price we paid was all we expected.

"Average Hotel - with no interests to guests! Bad Service."

1
28/03/2016

Location is very accessible to most places in the city but this hotel has no interest in regards to guest services. I emailed them many times but no response as I wanted to book directly to the hotel so I decided to book through booking.com to secure my hotel reservation. When I arrived in the hotel, the Front Desk Clerk informed me that they are very busy and no time to reply on their emails and it is not that important to them because they are always fully booked. The response wasn't really acceptable! The bed is very hard, not comfortable at all. It was a mistake that I stayed to this hotel. I wont recommend.

"Good location and a great basic hotel in an authentic part of town for exploring HK"

4
27/03/2016

We booked this hotel for our stay in Hong Kong and it did the job just fine. The hotel is a bit dated and needing some cosmetic updating and a bit of tlc but we were happy with it as it was just a base for exploring HK. Our room was pretty spacious, large bathroom, separate living area and a bedroom with a partial view of the river. The bed, as to be expected with hotels in Asia, was hard, but it was comfortable enough for a few nights. Free WiFi as well which worked really well. The location was pretty good, it is in the west of the HK island and within walking distance of the MTR to get you about. A good tip is to use the tram that stops right outside the hotel to reach central/HK station and then get on the MTR or ferry from there as the tram is dirt cheap. The area directly around the hotel isn't modern & pristine, so look elsewhere if that is important to you. For us, we loved the surroundings as it felt authentic. Plenty of restaurants and convenience shops around and we felt safe at all times. Staff at the hotel were all ok, some happier than others but always helpful. A good basic hotel for exploring HK, if you want to spend more time in the hotel rather than exploring, you should look elsewhere.

"Basic but economical "

3
23/03/2016

We stayed at the tsim sha Tsui location and found this economical hotel which is well connected. Things may be older here but everything works and staff are helpful. Will stay here again. It's located next to shops and F&B. Walking distance to the mtr station.

"No 'PLUS'"

3
15/03/2016

when I booked the hotel it was the Ramada Hong Kong but rebranded. Stayed for three nights. I chose this hotel because of a BA hotel deal offering three nights for the price of two and free upgrade. However I wish i had booked my usual Hong Kong hotel and paid the difference. Not sure what the 'PLUS' stands for in the branding but there was nothing I could see that warranted this. The room and common areas were clean but very outdated, it was like walkling back into the 1970's. Travelling in Asia I am use to sleeping on hard beds but his one took the record, it was literallty like sleeping on a wooden floor, absolutely no give in the mattress. There was only a thin sheet, no blanket our duvet. I would describe the staff as functional, doing their job but nothing more. Location of the hotel is not bad, close to two MTR stations and a couple of stops to Central however too far to walk. At night not much around the hotel in terms of restaurants or bars. Will not be coming back.

"Centrally located"

4
07/03/2016

It's located in between Sai Ying Pun station and Hong Kong University station. A couple subway stops to Central where you can connect to other subway lines to go anywhere you like. There is also a street car right in front of the hotel, so if you don't want to walk the 5 minutes to the subway station, you can take the street car. The street car take about 25 minutes to get to central but you can see the street life along the way. There are several laundry places right next to the hotel. I paid HK$42 for 9lbs of clothes. They wash and fold them for you. Restaurants are plenty left and right of the hotel. Circle K right across the street where you can get a SIM card and refill your octopus card. The room we got had a living area which I wish the room didn't because it made the sleeping area was very small. We had two "twin" beds, but let me tell you, they are smaller than twin beds, and there is about 1 inch between the two beds. We push the two beds together and it's smaller than a full size bed. The mattress is so hard I thought I was sleeping g in a rock. They are highly dense foam mattress with no springs. After a long day of walking around these mattresses don't help relief the aches. The bathroom is small, and the shower rub is even smaller. As a small Asian woman I can barely turn around inside the shower tub. It also doesn't drain well, so after 3 minutes it starts to fill up, and you are standing in your own filth that's spilling out of the shower tub. That was really gross. But the pros definitely outweighs the cons. I'd stay here again.

"Decent"

4
06/03/2016

Excellent size rooms is one of the benefits of staying out of the hustle and bustle of the CBD and Central. Quiet. Very clean and helpful, friendly staff assisted us with everything. Breakfast is ok, but hotel is a little far from the MTR, but buses and trams pass by regularly. For lunch try a local canteen 3 doors down for excellent HK cuisine at a reasonable price.

Yes the hotel is in need of a renovation, but for the price, you really can't beat this place. I had a Superior Suite on the 23rd floor and was surprised how spacious it was. With a small living area and dining table it was very convenient for bring in take away meals and snacks. The bathroom area was a bit on the small side but not a problem. There is no heating in this hotel, as with most hotels in Hong Kong, and can be cold at night. When I asked for an extra blanket it was delivered within 30 mins, so no complaints at all. If you want a hotel with heating then you'll need to go to the Conrad ;-). It's a very convenient location, 5 mins walk to HKU MTR station, lots of buses right outside the door and easy to get a taxi if needed. Lots of grocery stores, restaurants and market vendors with steps of the hotel for anything you might need. I will definitely stay here again when I go back to Hong Kong.

"Very, VERY old and dated needs a big over haul!!!!"

If and ONLY if you want to save some money should you consider this hotel. Carpeting stained and dirty, tiles ancient and dirty, the hardest bed I HAVE EVER been on. The place needs a big renovation, it is rated as a 3.5-4 star hotel and is a 2 star AT BEST. Just so you know I review ALLOT on Trip Adviser and this is one of the only times EVER I have given a negative review!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"OK but a little way from the main areas of attraction and sometimes hard to get a cab"

I have stayed at this hotel before, when it was owned by Ramada. It is now part of the Best Western franchise, with the 'Plus' branding indicative of its facilities. I have to say, the decor and fixtures are looking a bit tired, at least in the bedrooms - it is four years since I stayed there (my friend had the exact same room as I did last time, so I was able to make a comparison) and it looks like any monies spent have been invested in the communal areas. For example, my curtains wouldn't open and I had to get maintenance in on arrival; but the view, once revealed, was still a bit disappointing as there is building work going on between the hotel and the water and I wasn't high enough up to see much. There was a general need for painting / varnishing to the internal walls / doors so overall the room, though supposedly 'superior', didn't really tick that particular box of expectation. The mattress on the bed was rock hard and I was freezing cold the first night as there was no heating in the room (admittedly it was unusually cold for Hong Kong, with frost on The Peak). But I did get an extra duvet / eiderdown on request, straight away the next morning, so that was good. Also on the plus side, the breakfast was ample and fresh and the staff in the dining room were helpful and friendly. There is also free Wi-Fi with PC facilities in the business lounge, which is useful for those, such as myself, who do not travel with a laptop. I would place this hotel between 'average' and 'very good' - alas, there is no grading on Trip Advisor for simply 'good'. It is a hotel which features in BA holiday packages, which is how I have happened to stay there twice. I am not sure I would choose it independently as, this time around, on top of the room issues, for some reason taxi drivers aren't always keen to pick up from this location. There was quite a queue of guests one morning as the concierge struggled to get rides for us all.

"Spacious rooms at a very reasonable price"

We stayed here for two nights, and really liked the location,it is very close to trams ,buses and the MTR. Good WiFi was available free. The restaurant next door was very good, we ate four meals there, and enjoyed them all. The restaurant caters to a mainly local Chinese clientele, but they do have some menu items in English or in pictures. Dim Sum until 11.30 am - excellent dumplings etc. All in all this hotel represents excellent value for money.

"Good Hotel- Good Price-Good Location "

I was looking for a reasonably priced hotel for 10 nights near Hong Kong University. This hotel fit the bill. I was pleasantly surprised at how comfortable the bed was because of other Hong Kong reviews that the beds were hard. I found it quite comfortable. My room was spacious and well appointed. The bathroom was huge and had all the necessary toiletries. I found it very convenient to the Ding Ding tram which was practically out the front door and the subway was about a 5-10 minute walk. There was a Starbucks a 3 minute walk up the block. I also frequented many of the restaurants within walking distance and they were all good. I always felt safe in the neighborhood. The hotel staff was pleasant and helpful. Out the side door of the hotel and a 2 minute walk up the street is a laundry that washed and folded a full suitcase of clothes for a few dollars and they were ready the same day. I ate the breakfast buffet most mornings because it was easy. If you purchase the tickets from the front desk you get them at a discount. The buffet is a mixture of foods that you may not normally have at breakfast but it was good.

the room is too cold and dirty. so i called the desk to help many times. but they did not anything!! When checkout, I told them about that but they just excuse for many reasons. it was terrible~~~~~~~

26/01/2016

Hotel location is ok not in fancy area, rather local. Transportation not too bad, which same as everywhere in HK. In the weather with 3c the room was icy as hell, the hotel didn't provide any heater nor arrange a portable one, which is unbelievable. The bed is solid as rock, guess they tried to save money to get the hard bed as longer lasting, well, put a hard broad it would last even longer and same level of comfort. The WiFi was almost Zero connection, too slow that I think dial up might be quicker. Obviously hotel is badly managed, so the only way to attract guest is low price.

"A GEM IN HONG KONG"

26/01/2016

This was our fourth trip to Hong Kong in five months. We have seen many different hotels and stayed at a different one each time we visited. Some had chandeliers in their elevator. Some had hard-as-a -rock mattresses, Some had rooms that were so small I worried I will get stuck permanently if I walk in. This time I booked into Best Western Plus Hotel. This is hands down the most comfortable hotel I found in HK at a very reasonable price too. The rooms are bigger than any other hotel I have seen here. The bathroom is bigger than some of the hotel rooms I saw in HK. :) The bed is comfortable and high quality. A host of amenities is found in the room and bathroom. Toothbrush, yes. Comb: yes. Shower caps: yes. Sewing kit: yes. Planety of towels: yes. Good soap and shampoo and conditioner: yes. Fast reliable free internet: yes. A large sized closet: yes. A very convenient location in the city: Yes. a large flat screen TV, yes. An adapter for anyone trying to connect his phone or laptop to charge: yes in the wall, ready to use, without the need to call and ask for one and eait half hour for housekeeping to show up. Amazing fast service if you ever call: yes. There is nothing missing here. Above all the quality of staff and management is above and beyond most other hotels. We were welcomed by Mr. Adrian the night of our arrival. He is an educated man and was extremely kind and professional. They had a full house when we got to the hotel at 1:30 am. The next morning the manageress called. Ms. Shirley Wong offered to upgrade our room without a request from me. She then came to our room and insisted to carry our suitcase and showered us with kindness and congratulated us for our anniversary. I wrote to Best Western to say she has angelic qualities> Truly she has a humility only found in the noble families of the old times. I am most grateful to her. We now have a room that we did not even dream of having: views, a living area, a large bathroom, a heater (most rooms in HK we learnt have no heater). Those how call this hotel "standard quality hotel" have not traveled to Hong Kong before. This is way better than anything else we have seen. Housekeeping does an amazing job of keeping the rooms and the public areas clean. Security is great. There is a breakfast buffet for a very reasonable price on the fifth floor. A flower shop and many fruit stores and many restaurants and the Subway Train station are all within walking distance. What more can you ask for? Shirley Wong: you go girl. You are doing an amazing job.

"You get what you pay for"

HK review. BEST WESTERN PLUS You get what you pay for. When you do the check in they tell you that your bank ? Will take 500 HKD from your credit card, and they will be returned in two weeks. Obviously I know how my credit card works, and that never happened before, so I know that must be hotel policy, but they tell us that, expecting us to believe them . They assigned us an smoking room, without request it, so that's we didnt like , they have to ask first, an at least tell you that there is no other room available. We were so tired that we didn't complain. The concierge was very kind and he explained to us how to get to the airport or other parts of HK. Well communicated. To go to the airport you can take A12/A10 bus that leaves you next to the hotel,. 40 HKD dollars, and i t takes like 40 mins without traffic. You have trainway stop just in the front of the hotel, Water street stop. And one bus stop too. Bed not too hard. 2 free bottles of water every day. OK Wi-Fi. We can access from our room too.

"Pleasent Stay"

20/01/2016

On first arriving to the hotel, the staff were friendly and very helpful. I had unfortunatley booked the wrong days but they quickly found a room for me. Quite out of my budget at £130 for last minute but the room was amazing. A beautiful view of the Victoria Harbour. The rooms oversized and the bed was very comfy. The only issue I found was the building works right outside my room below but the noise was never an issue, it just spoiled the view. Hopefully these should be done soon. The area itself is very old school and is great to stay so you see both sides of Hong Kong.

"Standard quality hotel"

3
17/01/2016

In the middle of Western District, very near to the Tube stations and Maitime Station (Macau Ferries), the hotel is a standard Best Western Level. Nothing exciting but confortable, clean and with kind concierges. I do not suggest breakfast because of the poor buffet and the goundfloor room. Wi-Fi for free. Gym room is very bad. Outside a strong smell of essicated fish: but if you like the real Hong Kong atmosphere, you are in the very right space!

"Reasonable and comfortable"

4
16/01/2016

Booked a double room for our friend from Japan to stay here for three nights. Reasonable rates by Hong Kong standards. The service was efficient as expected in this city. The double room turned out to have a living room area with couch, coffee table and TV. More comfortable than expected. The hotel's location and nearby transportation were also convenient.

"It's all about location!"

can go for other hotel if you are looking luxury experience, may be in outskirts can get newer hotels with better amnities at same price. This hotel is all about location. Tram(10 mtr), MTR(500 mtr), Cab(5 mtr), Starbucks(100 mtr), 7/11( 10 mtr), 24 hr money exchage (50 mtr).. Great breakfast, Larger rooms, nice restaurants on both sides of the hotel with 2 HKD few station tram ride..overall 3.5 stars.

10/01/2016

Nice 30 storey hotel, stayed here for 4 nights at a cost of about HK$ 4,200 (€400). Good value for 2 of us. We didn't have breakfast included, our choice. Nice rooms, spacious enough by HK standard, good and clean. Concierge desk here was very helpful. Tram route & bus right outside the door. A train station within a 3 minute walk. Bus direct to airport just round the corner, A10 or A12 (HK$40).

"Not a good welcome but hotel was okay"

30/12/2015

We only booked to stay one night. Upon arrival, the reception staff Nancy was quite rude. All she said, quite abruptly was 'passports'. Not even a 'hello' or 'welcome to the best western'...As time went on she got friendlier but it was not a warm welcome. I've never felt so unwelcome at any hotel. Fortunately, we did get a free upgrade as Nancy said the hotel was fully booked. The room we got was lovely with a separate bedroom but it was on a smoking floor. You could tell by the smell. We specified a non-smoking room at time of booking. Room decor was lovely although a bit dated. Bathroom shower was very small but did the job. The room lighting was very dark and the room got very cold at night though. Overall, it's a good budget hotel in a decent location but nothing to rave about.

"Hong Kong visit"

29/12/2015

Nice hotel with good breakfast options, it is in Hong Kong island in Sheung Wang area, close to Star Ferry pear which goes to Macau, however, you need to have a cab for going to any place, whether to Star Ferry pear or Victoria Peak or Kowloon area. Connectivity is good, you will get bus also for different areas.

"Not the best hotel in the world"

23/12/2015

This hotel probably was very nice 10-15 tears ago, but now it needs some renovation. Old furniture . Old TV set , old kettle and so on ... Wifi does not work in every room , despite that The hotel web page promising you. Hotel staff is friendly. I did it have a chance to check its restaurant and gym facilities, but I have photos if my room.

"Best Hong Kong Hotel so far within this category ."

16/12/2015

As you can see I am very picky about Hotels. Apart from totally overpriced Peninsula and Conrad this BW plus was just perfect. Bus A12 to the airport 100 metres from the hotel, the trams in front, all the restaurants around. Just perfect if ypu don't want to spend 800 us a day for more luxury. I had a suite, top floor , spacious. The housekeeping among the nicest in Asia, staff at the reception hardworking, always friendly. Really a good choice ! Check the days, the rates change enormously . The week-ends are generally 200% more expensive. Will come back to this one, for sure.

"great value stay"

4
13/12/2015

When I made my booking there was a promotion on for a free upgrade from a standard room to a suite, it was well worth having, the room had loads of space. The hotel is well located near bus, tram & mtr stops, if using the mtr ignore the signing pointing you to the right after you turn left out of the hotel but instead head to first street & Sai Ying Pun station. There was unfortunately sometimes a very over powering smell of floral air freshner as you hotel. The room was clean and bedding changed when the card left out & towels when left on floor/ shower tray. There was also a plentiful supply of bottled water left each day, just do not look at the price of the drinks in the mini fridge, much much cheaper to make the 2 minute walk to the 7-11 or K store across the road. Overall a good hotel & value for money in a reasonable location

"good value"

11/12/2015

At first a bit disconcerting that the hotel cancelled our booking without reason at the last minute. But the problem was sorted out and the rest of our stay was a pleasure. The hotel is well situated and right in front the tram can be taken very cheaply all the way to central and even as far as Times Square . There is also a bus right across the road that goes to the airport , comfortable , quick and only costs 40HKD . A12 . Really convenient . The staff at the hotel were helpful and friendly.

"Not bad for price"

4
08/12/2015

This is a value for money deal. I got a double bed and they upgraded me to suite. That wàs a nice way to start the whole experience. The bad sheets and towels were clean. The room and toilet was clean and they had a decent range of cable tv and hotel wifi. The decor is a bit old and the wooden furniture not so comfortable. The bed can be a bit hard but that suits me just fine. Service is a bit cold and the staff could smile a bit more. On balance, i would say its a very good deal at that price.

"Great location, terrible matresses"

3
07/12/2015

Arrived to a twin room after booking a double, but they happily rectified this and moved us to a junior suite which was lovely, lots of space and had everything we needed for our 8 night stay. The other issue we highlighted to the staff was the mattress, it was incredibly hard. House keeping did put a topper on the mattress but it mad no noticeable difference so my husband slept on the cushions from the arm chairs on top of the mattress for the duration of our stay. The hotel itself is very well located, just across from the Water Street tram stop, a short walk to the metro and Taxi's to the pier are only $30HKD from the hotel. There is also a star bucks close by and some very good local restaurants across the road on the Water Street side (try the dessert restaurant!)

"Convenient place to explore Hong kong"

4
06/12/2015

Arrived at hotel on Airport Shuttle bus which is convenient. Room was a good size considering Hong Kong. I had read from other reviewers that the beds were hard so sought a topper mattress from housekeeping. It was interesting that these are readily available. The location was good with trams outside and access to the ferries at causeway a 15 minute walk. Metro system was 5 minutes walk. all in all convenient for exploring Hong Kong.

"Good enough"

4
03/12/2015

This hotel is a good value hotel - nothing luxurious but just enough for a business trip. Wifi included. Breakfast was not part of the room rate but we had the buffett for HK$ 98/person, they had a promo that time that if you buy your breakfast coupon in advance, you get a discount. Breakfast will be good enough to have your fill until lunch but don't expect exceptional choices. Basic stuff and you will have your morning fix. If you are really asking for luxurious stuff, then look elsewhere because this is not intended to pamper you. I originally booked a twin sharing room because that is what was available but I had a pleasant surprise when they upgraded us to a junior suite room without me asking for it. I originally intended to stay one night but I decided to extend for 3 nights after I saw the room.

"NICE HOTEL WITH BIG ROOMS TO A VERY REASONABLE PRICE!"

4
01/12/2015

Room was big enough to be Hong Kong. Decoration a little bit spartan but the room was clean all the time. Hotel location was very good for my business purposes, with many restaurantes and bars in the surroundings. The hotel rate was more than reasonable in a very expensive place like Hong Kong. Definitively I'll come back next time!

"Great hotel and location"

5
19/11/2015

Booked in for 2 nights. Caught the shuttle bus from HKIA which took about 45mins to the hotels front door. Check in was fast and within 5mins I was in room 2310 harbour view room. Room was huge with all the mod cons and the bed for me was on the hard side which I liked, room wasnt noisy considering my room was directly across from the elevator and free wifi in all areas of the hotel. Location was perfect with buses and trams at the front door going to Causeway bay Central and other places. There are so many restaurants around it's hard to choose where to eat. I needed some laundry done and across the road I got a full load done for $10AUD bargain I say. So would I stay at tge Best Western Plus Hotel Hong Kong yes I would

"Nice Ambience"

4
18/11/2015

Rooms are small but sufficient for a single person. Services are good enough. 5 stars should be given for cleanliness. Staff is supportive. Very near to HKU metro station, just a five minute walk. Mattresses are the worst thing in the hotel. These are very hard.

"Great Hotel Poor Service"

1
13/11/2015

This hotel deserves a "5" in every way, but the service and attitude of the management (floor managers) leaves much to be desired. First off the location is great, the West End of Hong Kong is a bit far, but actually, it's just 4 or 5 stops on the MTR to the convention center, Wanchai and Central. It's only 4 stops on the bus from the airport and is even accessible from the airport on late arrival. The rooms are spacious and quaint, with pictures on the wall and oddly matched furniture. It brings back a touch of the Colonial period and made the hotel comfortable and enjoyable. There is a new MTR stop, just minutes away (don't follow the front desk advise to go right up the street first then turn right, just go out the front door to the left and turn left on the next street) and is not crowded during normal hours. That was a big plus. My room on the 20th floor had a nice broken view of the harbor and was well lit. The shower is quite small, so if your a big guy or girl, this might not be what your looking for. I am not skinny by any standard, and I found it to work fine. There is plenty of room to make a nice shower, and the hotel should consider it. Now for the bad news... On the second night of my stay, I returned to the room at 10:30 pm, after a long day of trade shows and entertaining by my friends and suppliers. When I returned to the room, the room was exactly as I left, messy beds, towels on the floor and just a general mess. I went back to the front desk and explained what happened, of course, the first thing they asked was if I had left the DND light on, to which I responded in the negative. I told the manager it was late and that I just wanted to go to bed, but they sent some poor maid to the room to clean it, and I told her to just leave me a towel, and they can take care of it in the morning. I did have her inspect the room to verify my complaint and to show here that the DND light had not been turned on. I asked to front desk to refund me one night and he promptly declined. The next morning I met Jason the day duty manager and he was equally defiant. They offered me a late checkout and lunch and breakfast. I was rather insulted. It's Hong Kong, who wants to eat in a 3 star hotel!! The only excuse they could offer was that the maid forgot! In more than 30 years of business and family travel, I have never had them fail to clean my room. I finally asked for an extra night at a discount and was equally insulted. Jason was very firm on no refund for the night missed or even a decent discount on the next nights room. Needless to say I left. This hotel has great potential and I would have gladly stayed there again and again on my frequent trips to HK. Sad to say, I would have to recommend staying away from this hotel. I wish I could say something different.

"Incredibly run down - and smelly"

1
12/11/2015

Not a very good start - go to check in and the first words are "passport". No, "good afternoon" or "how are you?". They can't find my booking (they eventually do). They make me pay a deposit (as if I'm going to wreck the room). The ask me to sit down because the room isn't ready - despite it being mid afternoon. I sit on the sofa. It's old and literally greasy to the touch. The springs have gone. It is filthy. I look around at the other sofas, they're all filthy. Eventually I'm given a room key. When I get to the floor a member of staff is literally running ahead of me trying to get in their first. I'm not sure what they think they'll find. She bolts past me into the room. Nothing much to see but all the cupboard doors are open and she closes them. Next day I return from a day's work and the only cleaning in the room is the bed has been made. A wet towel is still on the floor. The corridor outside the room literally smells of urine - it's foul. The rooms are bigger than the Best Western up the road but any benefit is wasted by the bad design. The alarm clock is in the living room. There's no plugs by the bed so you can't charge your phone (or use it as an alarm clock). I checked out this morning - still no "good morning". There's a sign that says "independently owned and managed" above the desk. Ie this is barely a Best Western at all. I'm sure Best Western would wish it wasn't.

"Comfortable and big room"

11/11/2015

Big room hotel in HongKong is something amazing as all the hotel rooms in HongKong are so tiny !!! We love this hotel for the size and prices!!! Perfect for central of Hong Kong, you could grab the tram easily just at the door of the hotel. Convenient, well situated and reasonable price.

"Good price but not a very good service"

3
08/11/2015

We stayed in best western hotel plus for 1 night only. Our room was spacious and clean and apparently we were upgraded to a suite. Location was good and there is a MTR station only 5 minutes away. The price of the room was good but the Service was not very good. Staff do not seem to care about anything but this is what you pay for.

"Awful staff, dated hotel, smelly rooms "

1
07/11/2015

On arriving at the hotel we checked in, after completing everything the receptionist simply turned around and started doing something else! She did not bother to direct us to our room or even tell us she was done. We asked some simple questions like if there was a wifi password and she just pointed at a small piece of paper she placed with the room card she hadn't even given us. I appreciate this is a budget hotel but good manners do not cost money! The rooms are a fair size but have an old smokers house kinda smell to it. The shower is mouldy Only redeeming feature was the view from the room and tbh we just got lucky with that Avoid this hotel and it's awful staff like the plague. There are better hotels out there.

"Didn't spend too much time at the hotel, still disappointed"

06/11/2015

Right, so I'm going to brief in this review mostly because I was out most of the day so didn't spend significant amount of time in the hotel itself. Pros: 1. It's walking distance from the HKU MTR station, so easy access to the city and the airport. 2. Taxis easily available around the hotel. 3. Rooms and bathrooms are clean and well-maintained. 4. They're willing to hold bags for you, so it's convenient if you're flying out later in the night and want to explore the city a bit. 5. Local markets and multiple 7/11s and McDonalds are all within walking distance. You also have pretty good restaurants in the vicinity if you're looking for good food. 6. Free wi-fi (woot!) on multiple devices. Cons: 1. Maybe this is just a brown person speaking, but the staff were mostly unhelpful and sometimes downright rude. In particular, Pauline Ma at the reception/check-in area was unnecessarily rude. We called her from the room to confirm when breakfast was and whether we were given a smoking room only to have her sharply remind us that all details are with us following which she hung up. Perhaps not a good idea to have such a bad-natured person at your front desk. 2. Mattress wasn't hard, as others have said, but it could certainly have been more comfortable. 3. The views aren't bad but the curtains are tough to work with and the window obscures the view. TL;DR For the service they provide, one pays a tad bit too much.

"small and cozy"

06/11/2015

This place was formerly called the Ramada- First things first- for those who never been to Hong Kong, If your expecting a average large 5 star international room -this isn't for you. But don't discount this place yet. Staying in large elegant rooms in Hong Kong is high top dollar so for the budget traveller this place is perfect. I booked the Superior suite which included a large comfortable bed split bedroom by an asian style curtail wall. There is no TV in the bedroom only a view toward of hightise building and causeway. The TV is on the small living room aside to the bedroom. Poor design but workable. I would rate this place a 3 and half star or a 6. Bathroom is small but I got a very comfty bed. The carpet and furniture is a bit out dated and hasn't been remodeled since the last time I stayed in 2011 but its ok. Located on Devoix Street it is very close walk to MTR train station HKU about 5 minute walk. transport is not a problem.

"Biggest rooms you can find in HK at this price"

4
28/10/2015

We stayed here (then Ramada) for 7 nights for our HK vacation under the Long stay package. Though there are other properties of similar range like Ibis, we selected this one for the sheer size of rooms that it offers. It is very tough to find a decent room size in this budget in HK, and we were extremely delighted on seeing our room. It was a good 24-24 sqm. It had more than required storage space, a small dining table and chairs, TV, tea-coffee maker and all other basic amenities. Linen was super clean and the same was the case with the washroom. One disappointment, we had specifically asked for a queen/king bed, but were offered a twin bed. The location is amazing, with a tram stop right opposite to the hotel. It can also be reached via MTR though you would need to walk for 5-10 min at least on a hilly road. It is very close to Central, the Macau ferry terminal, and the other landmarks on the HK island. Wifi is complimentary and offers a good speed. The breakfast spread is decent. Housekeeping is top notch. I would specially like to mention about it. The hotel is supposed to be very close to the harbour but it very hard to get a view of the harbour, I believe from anywhere in the hotel. At least our room offered very little of anything. SOHO, Lan Kwai Fong and Central-Mid level escalators are nearby, you should be able to get your cuisine there. The nearby dried sea food market, however, can put you off if you're not used to the smell. They used to operate complimentary shuttles for the Macau Ferry Terminal, HK MTR and some other places. Kindly check update information on shuttles from the hotel though. Overall a recommended place to stay in HK. Enjoy !!!!

"Five nights of spartan comfort"

26/10/2015

I was looking for a cheaper option on my most recent visit to Hong Kong. The price of this hotel seemed about right. On arrival the check-in was efficient and friendly. My room was biggish for Hong Kong and clean, albeit old. The bed was like a rock and this really affected my sleep and was not what one needs when trying to get over jet-lag. The breakfast was very simple and after one try I decided to have breakfast elsewhere. I looked at the gym, lacked air conditioning, was right near the breakfast venue so people could look in on their way to eat, and a poor selection of equipment. I passed on that and did some long walks up Victoria Road to sandy Bay and back. The one great thing for me about his place was its location. It's close to the new university MTR, has a tram stop across the road which can take you right through HK Island, and is in the middle of old-ish Hong Kong. Plenty of restaurants around and a generally bustling atmosphere. If you want a budget place to stay and can deal with a potentially hard bed, this might suit you.

The "gym" is a joke. Mattresses are super hard. Smell is disgusting, Furniture is from the 70s, employees are mostly rude (there are exceptions). Breakfast is not eatable. No pool, no views, noisy. Don't select this hotel.

"Nice stay at an older hotel."

Only stayed two nights after leaving a lackluster Airbnb. Hotel room was large (Deluxe twin) albeit older. Beds were hard as mentioned by others but great pillows made that a non issue. Very happy with our stay.

Not the most comfortable mattress but certainly a very large room for HKG station. It's good that most room will have some windows. The room given to me was a corner unit, so I benefited from large windows for natural light. Location is very convenient with tram stop right outside the hotel.

"Ramada in the center of it all."

Ramada Hong Kong is close to the center. It is accesdible via taxi, bus, and tram. There is free transfer from the Hong Kong Airport Express StationThere are coffee shops and such as Starbucks a few steps away. It is also close to convenience stores, and supermsrkets. The rooms are roomy.

"Spacious room !"

I spend 2 nights in Ramada in June 2015 - it was a business trip. Room was very big, toilet was clean.Poor breakfast - . Nice views on harbour. Service was quite okey. Metro around 10 min by foot. Shops nearby

10 mins to the Metro Station - Hong Kong University. Trams right out the front. Some great eating locations within a 5 minute walk. The hotel whilst a bit dated is excellent for service and cleanliness. The mattresses are a bit hard so ask for a room with a soft one. Overall a pretty good place to stay, easy transport options and supermarkets and restraunts closeby.
