"Great stay!!"
nsherwood, 01 Septembre 2024

Best hotel in Big Bear. Quiet location, spacious spotless rooms, great staff, good breakfast, pretty grounds, couldn't ask for a better stay. We reserved 3 rooms for a family vacation and we loved every minute of it. They even have a game room and the pool area is so pretty!

"Good, quiet room"
markhT5589UW, 31 Août 2024

Second floor has a flight of stairs in the hallway, so there are only two rooms that you can reach without using stairs. My second-floor room overlooked the tennis court. The quarter-inch gap between the windows was enough to let in a little noise. Liked the USB-A and USB-C power outlets in the room! Quiet room, measured sound at only 30 dBA using an app. Big fridge but no microwave oven. Bathroom door is closed by a spring that squeaks a bit. When you leave the bathroom or have a shower, you might want to wedge the door open with the trash can to let fresh air in. Access and enjoy the public, paved Rathbun Trail behind the hotel. As in other hotels, take milk from the breakfast area to add to hot drinks in your room.

"Great BW!"
298carlg, 30 Août 2024

A very nice, good size room. Nice bed and good pillows. The most comfortable chair I think we've ever had in a hotel! The location is off the main road so it is quiet. Lots of choices for breakfast. Very nice front desk staff. We will definitely stay here if we visit again.

"Ambience, Cleanliness, and Location"
Elena A, 26 Août 2024

I really like The Chateau Big Bear Hotel! It's in a great location and is situated in a beautiful setting which is inviting, charming, and tranquil. They have a large parking lot, and the guest rooms were all recently remodeled to a modern design and are spacious, comfortable, and very clean. Each room has a fireplace, individual HVAC unit, refrigerator, and large wall mounted TV. They offer a daily complimentary hot breakfast buffet; and on Friday's and Saturday's they have their restaurant and cocktail lounge open which has great ambience with its beautiful Tiffany Glass Dome and big fireplace. During the last 6 months I have had 12 long term stays while remodeling our home, and with all of the amenities this hotel offers (including a business center, fitness center, outdoor hot tub and outdoor pool), I considered this my “home away from home”. The management and front desk staff were always friendly, welcoming and hospitable. I highly recommend it!

"Avoid at all costs. Stay Somewhere else and save your money!"
James R, 10 Août 2024

Avoid this hotel at all costs. Overpriced, No Maid Service (yes, you have to take out the trash and make your own beds and change your own linens, as well as go to the front desk to get towels). Hotel says they have a restaurant, but they don't tell you it's only open 2 days a week and only on nights. Hotel says they are pet free but I saw people with dogs all over the place. Staff was unsympathetic when I discovered on our 2nd day our room was not made up or towels or soap replenished. When I talked to staff they said you have to submit a special request for that service and said it was my tough luck. Of course, they didn't even mention that on check-in. This hotel doesn't even deserve on star. Go somewhere else and save your money. I am a loyal Best Western customer and I stay at nothing but Best Western when I travel...but this hotel is the worst!!!!

"Excellent Hotel and Location"
SeniorTravelerOC, 08 Août 2024

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights on our visit to Big Bear Lake. The check-in was friendly and our room was ready at 3 PM. The room was excellent, king bed, large TV, fridge, fireplace, balcony, tub & shower. It was nice to have the morning in-room coffee on the balcony next to the tall pine trees. There is a lot of parking. They have a nice swimming pool and jacuzzi behind the hotel. The morning buffet breakfast was excellent with many choices and plenty of tables. The hotel is located just off the main highway so was quiet. Highly recommended.

"Nice area. Noisy room."
Jerry R, 20 Juillet 2024

Hotel is nice. But thin walls. We could hear our the tv from room next door. No handicap access for upper floors. Theres a stairway from the elev to get to 2nd floor rooms. Pool gates not locked. Trespassers can access pool area. Good breakfast. Nice hotel. Friendly staff. A little dated. But its in a quiet area off the main road. And has a nice pool.area. lots of trees and a grass area.

"Positive and negative review"
Susan K, 16 Juillet 2024

The property is in need of a refresh. Worn and outdated. We were told the day before arrival that we would be on the second floor with a balcony. When we arrived we found we were in a basement room, very dingy and uncomfortable. We would have asked for a room change but we were tired and didn't feel like dragging our luggage upstairs again. On the positive side, the front desk people we warm and welcoming with big smiles! The breakfast area was clean and not crowded. The food was fresh and plenty of variety to eat. The bar was open at night and very reasonably priced. It was a nice atmosphere. The pool was great! Set in the pine trees with plenty of lounge chairs and the temperature of the pool was perfect. There is a paved walking path behind the property that was shaded and beautiful.

"Mountain getaway"
Cole R, 14 Juillet 2024

The front desk Jeff was outstanding in service and in dealing woth our requests. I find him to je one of the best on our travels.

"Nice, comfortable hotel."
imac98, 10 Juillet 2024

Nice surroundings, huge trees very nice - want to bring my disabled friend up so he can sit on deck, have his coffee, and with his bad eyesight can still see the trees and feel the atmosphere.

"Great stay at the Chateau"
Tod L, 09 Juillet 2024

We have been staying at the BW Big Bear Chateau each summer for several years and find everything about it enjoyable. The lobby is nice, the rooms are big, the beds comfy and the AC worked great. It's very quiet at night. The breakfast is very good with a lot of variety, and the location is close to everything we want to do in Big Bear. We highly recommend the Chateau!

"Relaxation and Fun"
leilanic1429, 08 Juillet 2024

I loved staying at the Best Western in Big Bear. Loved the pool in between the Pine trees. Staff was great. And the breakfast was fantastic.

"girls trip"
lunafaire53, 26 Juin 2024

my granddaughter wanted to go to Big Bear so I booked at my favorite hotel.....Best Western Big Bear Chateau.. My granddaughter (8yrs old) loved it , as well as I. A hot breakfast was served every morning .to help start our day. a beautiful hiking trail runs behind the hotel. I should also mention that I got married here back in July 2007 and would definitely recommend this place for a wedding venue!! Thank You Best Western Big Bear !!!!!!

"After experiencing other properties, this will be our "go to" hotel on the mountain."
concertpix, 14 Juin 2024

We stayed here years ago - then we drifted and tried other properties over the years. We are extremely happy we chose the Chateau for our recent 2 night visit. I think we are convinced to remain loyal to this property. The room was large and comfortable. My friend in the adjoining room actually had a whirlpool tub! The breakfast was great. Loved all the fresh fruit. Wonderful spa and outdoor pool. We even played pool one night. Front desk was excellent - helping with directions and suggestions. My wife and I have visited the mountain double digit times. Our friend, as a first time guest was completely and deservedly impressed with the hotel. Maybe an autumn visit???

"Off Season Excellence"
Geoff S, 10 Mai 2024

As a cross country motorcycle traveler, I stay in 10-12 Best Western motels every year. This one was near the top of the list. The facility was excellent with spacious rooms, lobby and breakfast area. The outdoor spa was small, but plenty hot. The outdoor pool was closed, but that was to be expected in early May up at that altitude. It was under construction repair and closed during my stay, but there is a nice bar on site. 100 yards down the street is the Captain's Anchorage bar and restaurant. Though not cheap, the dinner portions were generous and quite good - excellent restaurant. My stay was between the ski and summer seasons in Big Bear, so it was pretty quiet at this place.

"Great place"
Philip E, 04 Mai 2024

Great place to come for a day or a week. Under a major renovation of all rooms which didn't affect my stay at all. The general mgr Sherri really seems to cares about your stay. Penny who checked me in was very pleasant and caring. This is my 5th time staying here and I'm looking forward to the next time!!

"Saved our anniversary!"
justpeachiecafe, 24 Mars 2024

Had switched from another hotel which was the worst bed ever to come to the best western saved our anniversary and our sleep! Wonderful time and beautiful rooms great breakfast all around Wonderful! Thank you best western!

"Excellent choice of hotel"
Hamid E, 09 Mars 2024

The hotel is located close to the ski resort. It has a very peaceful and cozy atmosphere. The rooms are clean with Jacuzzi and fire place which made our experience much more enjoyable. The hotel offers a hearty breakfast which in general has several options. I definitely recommend this hotel and would stay there again.

"Honest Reveiw of a 1 Night Stay"
joncline417, 13 Février 2024

Hotel is nice. Did not Salt enough of the parking lot for guest to have enough parking. Toilets are "low flow" which means they can't flush any toilet paper. It was horrible and embarrassing. Low flow toilets should not mean you can't use. Rooms are out dated, outlets didn't hold my charger. It's a good location. But improvements need to be made to make it worth the cost. You can also hear everything around you, very thin walls.

"Great Mountain Hotel"
sherylmatheu, 10 Février 2024

This hotel is centrally located to the mountain and town center. The breakfast was a perfect way to start the day before snowboarding. Hot tub, friendly staff, clean rooms with fireplaces and reasonable price. Perfect mountain stay.

"❤️ Wish I were there now!"
globalatmguy, 19 Décembre 2023

Everything was exceptional including the check in where the desk clerk offered to help me with my luggage. Because I have a knee injury to the point when I checked out and forgot my watch. the young lady at the desk gladly ran to the room to get it for me. I enjoyed my interactions with the staff. And all of the wonderful amenities at the hotel.

"Nice friendly chain hotel with a family feel"
Paul J, 27 Novembre 2023

Stayed here a few weeks ago. lovely place, great staff, comfy rooms and good bar. the location is great for the lake and the mountains. It is a big chain hotel but has the feel of a family run place.

"Great place to stay."
philstheguy, 06 Octobre 2023

I have stayed here 3 times and already planning my next stay here. Customer service was outstanding with Sherri and Venetia being extremely caring and helpful. They are in the middle of doing some remodeling and you would not know it because there was zero noise and no inconvenience what so ever. Beautiful grounds and just a great place to stay!!!!

"Not Handicap Friendly"
charlesmedina121, 30 Septembre 2023

I am handicap / disabled. I cannot stand up or walk. I am in a small powered wheelchair. I could not get in or out of the shower tub. I did let the office staff know in advance of my disability. Reservations a month in advance.

"Unusual layout, very friendly staff"
BeachcomberME, 22 Septembre 2023

Stayed one night prior to vacation rental. Had lots in the car and this place has an unusual layout, requiring a trip up the elevator and down (or up) a flight of stairs. Once we got all our stuff to the room, we discovered one king, not two queens as booked. We stayed put, for one night it was fine. Pros: early check in, very friendly staff, very quiet location away from main road and complimentary buffet breakfast. Cons: weird layout, dated, dark, low ceilings in hallways. Paper thin walls and noisy doors. Bed needed replacing, big dip in the middle. Overall, it wasn't expensive and was moderately comfortable. Great staff, customer service.

"Comfortable, great value, great staff!"
Lori S, 21 Septembre 2023

My friend and me (60-70 yr old women) spent two nights mid-week at this hotel. It was PERFECT for us! Comfortable Queen beds, fireplace and balcony on 2nd floor. Complimentary breakfast. It was quiet, clean and close to many attractions. Friendly, professional and proficient staff. We left a jacket in the closet and it was returned to us via UPS within the week after we left. The hotel is undergoing a planned remodel/renovation of all the rooms but it was not on the floor where we stayed. They will take a break from the renovations during peak winter ski season and start up again in the spring. Will definitely stay here again!

"Nice two nights stay."
Maria L, 02 Août 2023

Lovely Lobby, clean Hotel rooms. Full breakfast which used to be served is now "Self-Serve". The pool is in a nice garden area. VERY friendly and "accommodating" staff at the reception area. GREAT and QUIET location.

"A good place to stay"
kennettd2023, 24 Juillet 2023

The hotel was clean, the staff was friendly, the staff was helpful. We had no issues and we would stay here again. The no hotel local food delivery service closes early so make sure to have dinner early.

"Beautiful setting, quirky building "
2017JB, 01 Juillet 2023

Staff at this hotel get 5 stars. Hotel building is older, with quirks that go along with any older property, so that makes my overall rating 4 stars. Pros: Breakfast, balcony, beautiful pool and lawn area with big pine trees and plenty of outdoor seating, comfortable bed, fireplace in room, cleanliness. Cons: Doors to hallway slam loudly, HVAC system is old central air type, thin walls, ongoing repairs are inconvenient, stairways are required to access many of the rooms (so call ahead to ask for room with no stairs required if you need flat hallway accessible room), bathtub/shower combination was difficult to get in and out of. However, I would stay here again as Pros outweigh Cons.

"Wheelchair accessible hotel"
Sue P, 24 Juin 2023

Very accessible for wheelchair. No shower room but bathroom accessible. Wide door frames. Flat surfaces throughout. Elevator for lower level pool. Disabled chair lifts for pool and jacuzzi. Fab nearby Wc accessible walking trail through forest

"Lovely Wheelchair accessible hotel"
Suepasu, 24 Juin 2023

Easy access for wheelchair throughout hotel and pool area. Elevator for lower level use. Wide door frames. shower room preferred but we had an accessible bathroom. Lovely balcony overlooking pool. Fabulous wheelchair accessible walking trail through forest very near.

"Get away"
Departure815781, 23 Juin 2023

If you have a chance you should make a stop in Big Bear. The staff at the Best Western are amazing and want your stay to be the best you have had. Three years ago we took a chance on staying at this hotel and due to the staff and hotel we will keep going back.

"Nice Place to Stay in Big Bear"
advisorj, 21 Juin 2023

The hotel is a little dated but the room was large and comfy. Breakfast was excellent with a lot of variety. There is a slight problem that while there is an elevator, there are still steps required for many of the rooms.

"Beautiful lounge not open"
Sharon S, 07 Février 2023

There is a beautiful and rare Tiffany Dome in the cocktail lounge. Unfortunately it is rarely open. The last few times we have been to Big Bear we have made a point to try and go to enjoy the ambiance and have cocktails only to be disappointed to find the lounge was not open but 2 days....Friday and Sat evenings. We had been many times before in years past and attributed this limited opening to Covid and the residual lack of staff or anticipated low customers. However, apparently nothing has changed. The lounge area is still limited to Fri and Sat and will not be open Valentines day which is a real shame. We are tiring of making the effort to patronize the lounge and spend money there.

"Best Wester is always the Best"
elbevue, 31 Janvier 2023

We always stay at BW Chateau every time we visit Big Bear Mts. Great location and lobby looks elegant. Friendly staff and always great in accommodating guests request on room preferences and supplies needs.

"For the price of one night you can rent a cabin instead!"
Honesty_Travler, 17 Janvier 2023

I was looking forward to this stay months in advance. Once we checked in and settled in the room we discovered the towel warmer was leaking all over the bathroom floor. We used all our room towels to keep the floor dry. Once we reported the problem in person at the fro t desk we were told the hotel was sold out and moving us would not be possible. I was understanding of the situation and was told they'd have someone Moo the floor dry & bring us more towels. No one mopped the floor and no one brought towels. When we arrived back from our outing the floor was still soaked and no fresh towels. Once we called the front desk for an update we were delivered fresh towels but no one mopped up the floor so we again used some of our fresh towels to dry the floor. The hotel is classic in its appearance inside and gives an almost old school “Vegas” feel. The breakfast hands down was better than I expected and I left tips everyday for the staff working there. Would I stay again? Probably not and that would be solely because of the price. I paid over $400 and got a leaking room with no assistance from the hotel.

"Great Hotel in Big Bear close to everything"
John P, 16 Janvier 2023

Love this hotel. Have stayed there about 10 times. Love the fireplaces in every room and the free breakfast is delicious. It is a few minutes drive from the Villages great restaurants and movie theater. Walking distance to a Walgreens and Sizzler.

"The new owners have taken the property downhill"
j0hndesign, 03 Janvier 2023

The new owners of the hotel have reduced the hotel and dining services while substantially increasing the room rates. There are better accommodations in the area with better rates. We are saddened to see how the new owners have gutted the service offering at this hotel.

"No hot water"
fltcep2003, 26 Décembre 2022

This hotel is in the mountains with snow. You will not have hot water between 6-9pm. I set my alarm to wake up at 10:30 pm to take a hot shower. Was told by the staff would have hot water later that evening, but were rude about it. Waking up to find no hot water in the Am between 6:45-7:30 Christmas day. So plan according and the management knows about the problem since the summer. So many other choices to stay. This was a last minute booking on my end.

"Unfriendly staff"
derickalferez, 25 Décembre 2022

Wasn't greeted, Jeff didn't seem to want to check us in, or be there at all. We walked pass the front desk about 6 times… greeted once. Overall we felt uncomfortable and left a day early. Wouldn't stay at a best western again.

"Pretty Good but Would Be Better if People Worked There"
jimmybar0n, 25 Décembre 2022

The location is fantastic. Walkable to mountain shuttle and right off the main road. And the rooms are decent with fireplaces, microwaves, and fridges. I like having food in the room after a tiring day of skiing. The hotel also has a hot tub, game room with pool table, ping pong, and air hockey. And the free breakfast set-up is tops. It has everything! The only negative thing I'll say is the hotel is seriously understaffed. The people who are there are very nice but there is no hotel manager on duty at all on the weekend. They put us in the wrong type of room at first that was lower grade than what we paid for but could not credit us back because there was nobody to authorize it. So we got them to give us a restaurant credit instead but you can't eat at the restaurant because it's only open Friday and Saturday and there's only one server working the entire facility including the bar. We sat down, waited for 20 mins for someone to give us a menu and left. I would give them another chance because of the location and breakfast bar but they could really staff the place better, especially during peak vacation season. One more thing…how can a winter vacation hotel not salt their parking lot when it's icy. The conditions were treacherous getting to our car and back. Shouldn't this be standard procedure for the safety of their guests?

"Old. Outdated."
barbaraannleavitt, 20 Décembre 2022

This hotel looks like the setting for a horror movie. The furniture is old and falling apart. It really needs a makeover. The hotel smells moldy and musty. The bathroom smelled like bleach. I don't think I would stay here again.

"Great Experience & Great Customer Service"
Q8371NCricka, 13 Décembre 2022

We were at the Chateau for a romantic getaway night last week. Choosing a weekday to beat the crowds was a great idea. The hotel is fantastic, super clean and the breakfast was amazing. Sherri the manager and all the Front Desk were super nice and helpful, their recommendation for a restaurant in the Village was excellent. Thank you for the wonderful experience.

"great experience at best western big bear"
linda1530, 02 Décembre 2022

very nice hotel, with breakfast, in the back of the hotel is a nature path, great location, close to everything. we were there week of October 22..of 2022, recommend it highly, and will return to it when we are in the area

"Convenient and Beautiful"
heatherm20192019, 21 Novembre 2022

The staff was wonderful. Microwave, refrigerator and fan in the room. Great breakfast choices. The dining room was spacious and beautiful. This property has character as well! Convenient location near Starbucks, Vons and Dollar Tree.

"Quiet Place to Stay"
TravelSmart4u, 10 Novembre 2022

Good breakfast, friendly staff. Room was in good shape with the exception of the bathroom that had an old bathroom smell. The hotel has kept the old furniture and tried to freshen it up. Walk carefully as ice was not cleared very well. This was the quietest hotel we have ever stayed in.

"Comfortable and Affordable"
Sage R, 03 Novembre 2022

We were very surprised! This is in a nice location! Close to everything! The room was very clean with the amenities - microwave and refrigerator. It even has a quaint little restaurant inside. Would definitely stay again!

"Very elegant property"
Resort09682872178, 31 Octobre 2022

This is one of the most elegant Best Western properties that we have stayed at. The rooms are large and comfortable. The in-room fireplace was a nice touch. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We stayed 3 nights at this property and will definitely be back. The room rates are a great value especially when you factor in the free full breakfast. A good value for the price. We would highly recommend this property.

"A great stay"
807pams, 25 Octobre 2022

This was a very clean and friendly place. The breakfast was very good and plentiful. The room was quiet, and the bed was very comfortable. My only complaint is that we were there on a Thursday, and we were disappointed that the restaurant on site was not open.

"Excelent Service."
marjoriegill49, 22 Octobre 2022

Room was very clean, very quiet place, relax and I loved my view from the balcony.Kind and friendly service. Breakfast was warm, fresh and delicious. Short family vacation but we will back in couple days !

"Big Bear hotel"
lovehandlesgreg, 18 Octobre 2022

Great hotel to stay at up at the lake ..off the beaten track but you will enjoy the property clean, lots of history ,good location , to down town , good food staff is great nice views all around you You will not be disappointed

"Big Bear Gem"
CherylK1979, 05 Octobre 2022

The Best Western Big Bear Chateau is a nice hotel in the Big Bear area. It is clean. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Behind the hotel is a nice walking trail thru the woods that we enjoyed. The hotel is dated, but the rooms and common areas are clean. The location is great for a visit to the zoo, or a short drive to the village.

"NO HEAT"
909ashleighk, 05 Octobre 2022

Extremely disappointed, my husband and I took our 2 children on a short vacation to this hotel on 10/1/22 and there was absolutely NO HEAT! Temperature was a low of 37 degrees outside! It was freezing. Both our room and the room across from ours had absolutely NO HEAT. Only 1 front desk staff person so no one was able to light our pilot light for even fire place. There is a placard next to thermostat stating heat starts in September-October. No one notified us that there was a delay in heating the building. GM stated heat will be turned on October 10th. Staff didn't know there was a delay they assumed unit was broke, even spoke to the cleaners and they thought it was broke. I was asked for grace as they were renovating the building, however I was NEVER told that nor did I see any type of renovations while I was there. I was offered Best Western points or a future night stay, I respectfully declined as I don't know when we will be back and this was my only time I had ever stayed at a best western. I was very patient and kind, but did ask for at least some of my money back. GM finally said what's you let last name, I told her and she said okay I am going to look up your stay and see —*click*—-I though wow surely she didn't hang up? She will call me or email me, waited all day no phone call no email. I would have stayed again if we were able to make our way back to big bear but being met with so many excuses and frustration toward me when I was being very polite and patient does not make want to bring my family back. Really disappointed.

"Wonderful Chateau"
mairjeann9, 19 Septembre 2022

Such a beautiful hotel, peaceful and comfortable with delicious breakfast of many choices!!! My children loved staying here and we hope to stay longer next time!! We also are thankful that this place looks just as good as the pictures if not better!

"Amazing getaway spot"
sandra1262022, 09 Septembre 2022

We only stayed for a day but we had an amazing time, we relaxed in the pool and hot tub the room was really clean and it had plenty of amenities. The breakfast has plenty of options for everyone. We loved that this location has a restaurant/bar on-site.

"Getaway"
DHZ77, 05 Septembre 2022

We picked this hotel solely on location and it said it has A/C..... well it has A/C but when you can't get it any colder than 78 degrees before turning off, that's not A/C. When it's 110 in the valley and still 85 in Big Bear 78 is not very refreshing. It's very old, very loud and I could not imagine paying full price to stay here... I'm so glad we got a discount because the restaurant and bar aren't open on weekdays, just breakfast. I can see this being great in the winter for it's proximity to Bear Mtn but for a summer getaway we won't be back, even on a discount. The bedding was horrible, very rough and uncomfortable, the pillows were RIDICULOUS for a king size bed. 4 itty-bitty pillows, what a joke. I get it's a Best Western and not the Ritz-Carlton but still, they need a serious refresh. It's supposed to be non-smoking but the jerks bringing weed to the hotel and smelling up the hallways need to have respect for others that don't smoke that nasty stuff. Just don't expect anything special, especially with the photos that suck you in, it's NOTHING like the photos and hot as heck in the summer. We were miserable.

"Great accommodations"
Culture43784, 16 Août 2022

The lobby is spacious and welcoming. Our room was ready, and front desk made a note of our potential early arrival. Very clean bathroom with amenities. Easy access with drive up portico, large enough for a few cars. Balcony overlooking pool and surrounding trees was a beautiful view.

"Only place I'll stay at in Big Bear"
stephaniec906, 02 Août 2022

We (my two young kids and I) stay here every time we come to Big Bear. The service is amazing. The people that work there genuinely care about the guests. The decor in the hotel is just my style-truly chateau-esque. The breakfast is so good and they are very accommodating for allergy restrictions. The whirlpool tub in the room, plus a balcony to enjoy the fresh crisp mountain air, with the fireplace blazing, I cannot wait to visit this year. There is also a great walking path along the side of it by the old creek which is nice.

"Nice for the price"
LLK2012, 22 Juillet 2022

Nice property and great location. Loved the fact that you're surrounded by pine trees. Nicely appointed rooms, spacious and clean. We had a double queen and plenty of space. Breakfast was excellent, even if choices were a bit limited, but it's a good value as it's included in room rate. Very helpful and friendly staff. Rooms facing Moonridge Drive will be affected by noise starting at 7am as trucks and cars race up and down. There's construction going on up the hill so until that's finished expect more noise than usual.

"Hasn't been remodeled in decades. So old, it feels spooky and disgusting"
laurandlc, 21 Juillet 2022

Seriously. I was shocked when I arrived. Absolutely horrendous conditions. All the furniture is disintegrating. As I walked in my room, the old wardrobe was shaking as if there was an earthquake. Ugly restaurant, nasty breakfast food, weird pool and a lot of noise and dust from the construction they're doing.

"Relaxing and comfortable"
nancycas2022, 18 Juillet 2022

Came for 3 days and 2 nights with my kids, great service, very clean our room, breakfast super fresh and delicious, kid friendly, enjoyable pool and internet connection was really good. From the front desk to the cleaning lady to breakfast server only excellence we experienced. Recommend it to anyone with kids, pets or just by themselves.

"Great Location, Wonderful Staff, Awful Facility"
tpeve, 17 Juillet 2022

This is a really difficult review to write. The staff was wonderful. They were warm, friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. The food service was outstanding! The location is perfect. The pool and hot tub area is great. The physical features of the building itself and room appointments, however, have some grievous faults that just cannot save this rating. The layout is an ADA nightmare with split level floors that CANNOT be reached by elevators. The interior hallways are dark and dreary with wallpaper and carpeting that was borrowed from a haunted mansion. The paintings on the walls were confusingly eclectic ranging from subjects such a bears to sailing ships to fruity still lifes to dogs to landscapes and just about anything else you can imagine. The room itself was tired. There was NO workspace, few electrical outlets and included one that didn't work at all and couldn't be fixed during our stay. The AC system is bizarre and is either on or blasting…no in between and no thermostat. To say I was disappointed is a gross understatement. The people who work there deserve better.

"Excellent service reasonably priced"
bschoenb, 14 Juillet 2022

This is our second visit to the hotel and it has been a pleasure. Firstly, it's nice looking hotel, designed to look like a European Château. The lobby has glass chandeliers and old world furniture. Our room had a gas fireplace and a balcony. Breakfast is actually a sit down breakfast with real plates and silverware. The hotel staff couldn't be nicer and more helpful.? An example, while we were there we decided to stay an extra night. I had booked the hotel with credit card points, and I had enough points to add the night.. I screwed up and booked the extra night on the wrong date. When I realized it I phoned the credit card company, and of course was put on all different holds and transfers. When I told the front desk of the situation, she said “ yes I saw you booked the wrong dates ,I fixed it in our computer already “. Needless to say no more holding on the phone. On top of it the hotel is very reasonably priced. If you are in the Big Bear area, definitely use this hotel.

"Total Disaster"
John H, 25 Juin 2022

If you are coming here there are some things you should know: (1) Second floor rooms require humping your luggage down five feet of stairs even though you use the elevator. (2) Room 206 has plumbing noise at night (3) Room 206 has no view at all (4) The grand piano is out of tune (5) Breakfast cooking selection is rather limited to a type of omelet with or without sausage (6) he maids may not clean your room every day (6) Room 206 has no desk

"Great classic hotel!"
550alyssa, 23 Juin 2022

This place has lots of charm, centrally located minutes from everything. Walking distance to Walgreens, comfortable with lots of vintage charm. Free served to table breakfast in a beautiful dining room. Very clean and friendly service! Beautiful pool surrounded by trees and grass. Staff is always friendly and welcoming no complaints!

"Great experience staying at Best Western Big Bear Chateau in Big Bear, CA"
jlnasseri, 22 Juin 2022

We stayed at Best Western Big Bear Chateau in late June and had a wonderful experience there. The hotel itself is very attractive and clean as are the rooms. Plenty of towels, toiletries and other items such as tea and coffee in the room as well as air conditioning and heating (many rooms and cabins in Big Bear do not offer air conditioning). In the morning from 7-10 in the restaurant a free full breakfast is served which is a great way to start off the day. Available is a regular restaurant breakfast that includes a large variety of items to choose from such as a variety of omelettes, bacon, sausages. pancakes, potatoes, toast/bagels/muffins, cereal, yogurt and juices.

"Unique and beautiful"
TheGatesClan, 19 Juin 2022

I love best westerns. Another great experience in a unique and full of character hotel. Lots of old world charm in this country lodge. Premium parking for our bikes too. Service was great, greeted every time we entered the hotel. Breakfast was made to order and perfect.

"No waffles"
33Tomi33, 14 Juin 2022

Breakfast was a disappointment. Pictures at website are not correct, it shows a waffle maker, I asked where is it, they removed it because it was too hard to clean! They replaced it with a pancake maker, pancakes were undercooked!

"Big Bear retreat"
chefonyrshoulder, 07 Juin 2022

The BW in Big Bear city was the perfect spot to stay and relax. Friendly staff, great amenities and close to everything. This will be my go to place for future visits to the mountain. Not to mention the free hot breakfast was incredible!

"Nice and quiet location"
Maria L, 27 Mai 2022

Very nice and quiet area of the hotel. Nice garden and the pool area. Close to the North Shore, picnic areas and Discovery Center. Easy access to The Vilage, Ski areas and to restaurants and shopping.

"Mixed Review"
Michael K, 24 Mai 2022

***WARNING*** There is no central heating in this building even though it's in the low 30 degrees at night! The hotel seems to be on a summer "cooling" schedule, which seems to be cover for trying to save on energy costs. We were very cold in our room on the night of 5/21. There is only a very thin bedsheet provided with a blanket in the cabinet. When we turned up the heating thermostat, only cold air blew in the room. We called the front desk and was told about the "cooling" schedule, and that no heating would be provided. We were offered a space heater and told it would be delivered to our room in a half hour. Almost an hour later, I walked to the front desk to find only one desk person and a line of people waiting to check in. One staff on a Saturday night! I was given a space heater over the counter and requested another blanket. One was not available and I was told it would be delivered in a half hour, which it was. It is cold at night, so be sure to bring warm clothes to wear to bed or avoid this place all together.

"Comfort Galore"
Resilient14, 17 Mai 2022

Me and my boyfriend enjoyed it over here and there are no complaints with the amenities and the personnel are very sweet and accommodating. Loved it to beginning to finish. Looking forward to the next.

"Great old fashion hotel"
JoeTarga911, 17 Mai 2022

Great stay, rooms and beds are comfortable. Decoration is old fashioned and need some renovation but everything is clean and operational. A piano is available if you want to play. The breakfast is great with large choice. I would come back.

"Excellent place to Stay in Big Bear!"
646francesca, 13 Mai 2022

The Best Western Big Bear Chateau in Big Bear is, The Best…Clean, Peaceful, Beautiful Decor with Over and Above Excellent Customer Service. I have stayed here quite often and will continue to do so in the future.

"Great place to stay in Big Bear"
marcakime, 06 Mai 2022

This is a hotel where one can see that great pride is taken to make sure your visit is comfortable and relaxing. It was hands down, the cleanest hotel I've ever stayed in. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful and the breakfast that comes with the room is outstanding. You can order omelets, eggs, bacon, sausage, and breakfast potatoes. They also had the usual selection of self-serve items such as fruits, yogurts, toast, etc. I would definitely stay there again!

"Our "go to" in Big Bear..."
SoFloTv, 30 Avril 2022

We originally stayed at the "Chateau" over the last holidays based on the positive reviews that were posted. When an establishment uses that French description it should live up to that old world style & it does. Literally minutes located from the skiing resorts, restaurants & grocery stores it embodies a cozy European vibe nestled amongst the pine trees amplified by the fireplace in the room. As a bonus, a very tasty and hot "a la carte" full breakfast is included with many choices. While the quality makes us book, the costumer service leads us back as it did a couple of weeks ago on business. We met Sherri - the very personable General Manager - back then & we were immediately greeted again with her sincere & caring personality, as well as Matthew who checked us in. Throughout our week's stay it became evident how much he cares about hospitality. Just a good guy & good for business. And they have ours.

"Bw stay"
glenndb8, 19 Avril 2022

Room rate a little high for no views( back views look at someone's private yards) closed lounge/( no restaurant available for lunch, dinner, and no movie channels( limited tv channels and no movie choices such as Netflix , hbo)

"Dangerous would not recommend"
nrubio0317, 18 Avril 2022

Room next to us nothing but kids screaming, banging on walls parents yelling and arguing all night non stop. Metal piece in the room was ripped up and smacked my ankle/foot on it. Hurt myself on it, tile was cracked which could've gone into my foot. Luckily I didn't have my daughter with me or else it could've been worse. Not happy with the experience here and not happy to give you my money and points. I've never had a problem here and I'm extremely disappointed to the point where I don't feel safe or comfortable staying at any best western. Rooms are not properly checked, there's major safety hazards that could hurt and potentially kill you. Like I said I already hurt myself by smacking my ankle/foot on a piece of metal that was sticking up from the tile

"Old world charm hotel"
larsof9, 15 Avril 2022

It's a very good place to stay while in Big Bear. It's not the cheapest nor is it the most expensive place to stay. It hits most of the marks though. It has an Old World charm to it, there is still actullay a gameroom/living area to hang out in, although it needs a few more tables and seats, a hot tub, a pool when in season, free complimentary breakfast, restaurant/ bar on premises, nice bathrooms, a balcony and fireplace with some rooms, and comfy beds.

"Big Bear's best hotel"
call2coll, 13 Avril 2022

I have been going to Big Bear for at least the last 12 years, only missed once for COVID. In all that time I've stayed in The Chateau. I've never had less than a wonderful experience. The location is perfect for access to both Summit and Bear mountains. The staff are fantastic, breakfast is filling and very complete. The rooms are always clean, with very comfortable beds.

"Clean and beautiful"
Cja246, 16 Mars 2022

I was very happy overall with our stay I only had 1 problem which wasn't major in ordering our room it ask if I wanted a balcony I payed $10 more for it so when we got to the room we got a balcony alright but the view was of a alley and peoples back yard and all I saw was a bunch of garbage trash a lot of old things piled all over wasn't the best view, I could of not got the balcony would of been better, but we just stayed inside our room, we can't complain about our room or our stay everything else was great we would definitely come back

"Great Location for Skiing"
abilu2022, 14 Février 2022

Easy parking and hotel does everything right for a ski trip. If you want to beat the crowds, the included breakfast and restaurant for dinner will do the trick. Easy walk to shops and restaurants. Hot tub, gym, and play rooms are good choices before heading to sleep.

"Great location for Big Bear"
ryanrezafarsai, 04 Février 2022

I stayed at this property multiple times in the past two months, The hotel is a great location just few miles from both Big Bear Mountain resort and Snow Summit Mountain resort. The room had fireplace and balcony and nice flat screen television and small refrigerator. Included with our stay was daily breakfast which we enjoyed everyday during our stay. The pool was closed because it is the winter but the Jacuzzi was open and we used it extensively everyday after long day of skiing on the mountain. I would say this is the BEST HOTEL in Big Bear for anyone to stay.

"Great breakfast, thin walls"
SamBalas21, 28 Janvier 2022

Convenient location to Bear mountain, nice rooms with balconies but walls are thin and we were kept up till 1am due to loud talking and door slammings next door when the hotel was <30% full and there was no need to put guests in adjacent rooms. No rollaway bed was provided although we were assured one when we reserved the room.

"Old but good"
lauralS6115TM, 26 Janvier 2022

The hotel is very old, the decoration, the carpet, the rooms, the bathroom, the restaurant... everything seems old, but it is still good. The location is perfect if you are going to Snow Summit, right next to Brownie Parking lot. Breakfast is good and the staff is polite.

"BEST HOTEL IN BIG BEAR!"
Anita P, 17 Janvier 2022

Walking distance to snow summit (or catch the shuttle two blocks away), excellent front desk service from Chrissy and Penny, excellent maintenance service from Travis-he came by and turned on the jacuzzi bubbles and helped us look for something in the lost and found, great game room, great gym, jacuzzi is next to game room outside, amidst the beautiful snow, so let your kids play while you still keep an eye! EXCELLENT BREAKFAST! Hot, fresh, customized, fast service, plus a self-help bar for more food. Beautiful room with fireplace, balcony and beautiful lobby, easy parking...this place makes traveling easy!!!! THANK YOU CHRISSY, PENNY and TRAVIS!!!!

"Not what I expected"
Scott R, 16 Janvier 2022

For the cost I expected something a little more up to date but I soon realized it was the location I was paying for. The rooms were outdated and felt a bit unclean. The breakfast was the only thing that exceeded my expectations. If I go back to that area I would probably stay there again but only to continue to accumulate rewards points.

"Convenient, basic hotel"
AponteGarrido, 05 Janvier 2022

Basic, clean, no frills hotel, a little old. Very close to The Village and to both ski resorts. Plenty of parking space. I didn't expect more than what I found on arrival. Just wished they had better pillows -lumpy, hard, bulky, super uncomfortable pillows, all 6 of them!

"Decent stay-would stay again"
tboutili, 03 Janvier 2022

The good things: room was clean, they had a game room (pool table, ping pong, air hockey), outdoor Jacuzzi (we didn't use it), breakfast- eggs with sausage or bacon or omelets as well as standard continental food. Super close (within walking distance) to shuttle for Snow Summit. the bad: paper thin walls, fireplace didn't work, a bit run down (dresser drawer wouldn't open).

"Extreme bleach/chemical odor"
R7137CBlisaa, 18 Décembre 2021

The chemical odor was so bad when we first entered the room. We had to leave the door and patio door open in the cold weather. The front desk sprayed an air freshener in the bathroom, but it did not help at all. Overall, just too many chemical s were used in cleaning the room and it lingered until the next day. We had headaches the whole time. We understand Covid19 constraints, but this was excessive.

"Wonderful!"
anblevins90725, 06 Décembre 2021

This Best Western has the best breakfast you will ever have. Also the views from the jacuzzi are amazing! We stayed in a room with a fireplace and a balcony and it was sooooo nice and cozy! 10/10 and would definitely go again!

"Rowdy Guests and Smoke"
Maureen J, 16 Novembre 2021

The hotel is in a beautiful area and very clean and offers a nice breakfast. However we had a bad experience because there were rowdy guests partying in the hall until 2:30am and although a non-smoking hotels, there was smoke coming thru the ventilation. The night staff did not effective address this after many complaints and allowed the party to continue. Unfortunately many guests were there for the Big Bear Marathon and did not get proper rest for the early morning race start.

"Mysterious cancelation"
SydneyMarquez, 26 Octobre 2021

First visit to this Best Western. Beautiful hotel and lobby is stunning. The complimentary breakfast is delicious and gives a lot of options. The staff is friendly and efficient. Had an issue with the hotel canceling my reservation mysteriously the morning of my arrival. Although I wasn't able to acquire the room I reserved the staff helped me book a different room.

"Big Bear Best Western"
lbedrosian7, 21 Septembre 2021

The Big Bear Best Western is a wonderful hotel. Comfortable, clean rooms and friendly staff. We had a pet friendly room, and it was perfect. This was the second time at the Big Bear BW, and we will definitely return.

"Consistent Quality"
MarciaF7596, 07 Septembre 2021

We have stayed here a few times in the past 2 years and are always very happy with the experience. The front staff is friendly and efficient and the breakfast is really good. And we love the fireplace in the room!

"Great place to stay"
chapitae, 11 Août 2021

Beautiful architecture, cozy rooms and excellent bar/restaurant. Staff was friendly and very accommodating. The price was a little higher than average but the included breakfast made it well worth the extra expense.

"Big Bear BW Chateau"
donromeojr, 09 Août 2021

Staff was excellent! Breakfast and dinner were good! Room was okay, nothing special, very overpriced; had very little water pressure in shower and not one USB port or open electrical outlet (except bathroom) to recharge any devices! A MUST in today's world!

"Best Western - Big Bear REview"
behrooz m, 23 Juillet 2021

We stay in this BW Big Bear once a year. What brings us back to this hotel are: Good location. Well maintained. Excellent Service. Good Breakfast. I recommend rooms with balcony. They are perfect for late evening chat with your significant other.

"Showing it's age"
djgutierrez23, 21 Juillet 2021

I feel like this was the happening place 35 years ago (I checked, it was built in '86), but now it really feels old (I thought it was built before '86). Everything in the room feels old, the furniture creaks, the ceiling creaks when people are walking upstairs. Our screen door to the balcony didn't lock right and we were on the first floor so it was a bit unsettling leaving the sliding door open overnight. That being said, I think most places in Big Bear feel old. We slept well enough, and it was cleaner than the Airbnb cabin we had to evacuate from because it was infested with ants. One more thing, the breakfast was kind of disgusting, low quality compared to other continental breakfasts I've had over the years. It didn't sit right in my stomach either.

"Great Hotel!"
Carol V, 16 Juillet 2021

Best hotel we have stayed at. Sherri at the front desk was so helpful and caring about our entire stay. She greeted us each time she saw us and always asked how our stay was. She made sure we had a room with no stairs when she noticed my limp at our check in. She is an employee that really cares about her guests and takes pride in her beautiful hotel!

"Great Hotel"
Freedom677407, 10 Juillet 2021

This hotel is a really nice place to stay in Big Bear. The hot breakfast was made to order from a list of options and was a really nice way to start the day. They also have the self-serve cereal, toast, pastries, fruit, yogurt, coffee and tea, etc. The room itself was very clean and very comfortable in a convenient location, and very quiet at night. There was a group staying during our time that was rather loud each evening, and congregating outside of the room a few doors down (outside), but quieted down at a reasonable time so it wasn't a problem. The parking lot is large with plenty of parking spots. We had not been to Big Bear for vacation before this, but plan on returning because this experience was so nice. Can't wait to plan our next stay.

"Best western big bear- what a disappointment"
Travel68669497829, 01 Juillet 2021

Our stay was okay, first issue was the customer service we received when our stuff went “missing” front desk continued to yelling rather than checking video, second the water ran out in building when I was in the shower that I had to rinse soap off in jacuzzi.

"Our Go-To Hotel in Big Bear -- best location in town"
Laurie L, 01 Juillet 2021

Love the quiet ambiance of this place, tucked off the main highway amid the tall trees. Peaceful and relaxing to look over the pool surrounded by big trees. Only a short drive to the main part of town. Really nice paved walking path directly behind the hotel.

"Very Nice Place"
stevecarrico, 25 Juin 2021

The staff here were extremely polite and helpful. Rooms were clean and the setting of this hotel is beautiful. Our room looked out over the pool and trees. Coming from a place where trees are taboo because they block views, it was such a treat for the eyes. We could sit out on the balcony and watch the blue jays and squirrels. The food at the restaurant was excellent even though because of the Cooties we had to take everything to go. We are definitely looking forward to going back again as soon as possible.

"Great hotel in the mountains"
Annie W, 24 Juin 2021

We booked two adjoining rooms for our family midweek in June. We have stayed here multiple times. The pool was very nice and our rooms faced the pool and the are is surrounded by trees. Check in staff was very helpful and fast. Especially the clerk with the English accent. She hooked us up to our rewards account and got us the BW special. (Sorry I can't remember her name) The room was spotless and the beds very comfortable. The only thing that annoyed me was the breakfast in the room due to Covid and the room doesn't get service while you stay. This is a great hotel in the mountains and we will be back.

"PCT hiker stay"
RMB923, 24 Mai 2021

The staff was exceptional in helping me in my journey to return home upon completing my part of the PCT. The room was restful and comfortable. Great water pressure in the shower! The breakfast bar was fantastic!

"Good for one night"
Zog13, 20 Mai 2021

The hotel was eerily quite, with only 1 staff person (checkin) visible most of the time. The room was quite, clean. But the drapes/blinds for the slider didn't work, had to really pull and work with it to semi close. This was needed because of the very bright exterior lighting. The toliet ran and ran, required advance "handle jiggling" techniques to quite. The room furnishing was dated. The electrical outlets on the bedside lamps were so used my chargers couldn't make a good contact. Used wall outlets. The hotel was quiet. didn't seem to have alot of quests.

"Fantastic"
K8278TRcynthiar, 19 Mai 2021

Clean and comfy. still get a hot cooked breakfast of eggs and meat along with bagels, muffins and coffee and juice. clean and well taken care of. beautiful decor. Staff was friendly, room is good size

"Cute hotel"
Regina H, 16 Mai 2021

Went to a wedding and stayed overnight. A little pricey for one night, but room was clean and really charming. Fireplace, small balcony, towel warmer, and plenty of coffee! Offered breakfast with fresh eggs and bacon or sausage. Pleasant stay.

"The Chateau had everything we needed."
275jimd, 14 Mai 2021

It is a Best Western on the Plus side I would say. Very well kept, old fashioned from the 80's most likely but upgraded to a nice mountain resort style. Covid had the restaurant closed but bar service and some limited menu items were served in the lounge. Breakfast was made to order but it was take away to go back to your room. Staff was great....

"Worth the Money"
AnitaDay2021, 30 Avril 2021

I do prefer Best Western when traveling because of the good standart on cleanliness and service. The Big Bear Chateu is definitly clean, and offer great service. The location was down town close to so many ammenities and attractions. The room decor (and the hotel in general) was a bit outdated, but then that was usually the character of most of mountain vacation places anyway. In our hotel room there is this humongous wardrobe, that reminded us of the Narnia wardrobe :D

"Ownership? Clueless"
Serenna M, 28 Avril 2021

The front desk worker was very attentive and knew what she was doing. What appeared to be the owner (Asian woman) was clueless she did not even know how to answer the phone. One of the features of the of this hotel was the fireplace. Which turned out to be only a decoration and did not add any warmth to the room. We found clumps of hair in the bathroom. Gross!

"Absolutely Worst hotel I have ever stayed at"
KristenK1969, 26 Avril 2021

Let's start off by them advertising that they are walking distance to shopping, they are Not. We check in and our room is freezing, we ask the front desk how to turn the heat on and we get told it's on, BS, it is not on and a tenant told us it gets turned on at 10pm, WTF, seriously we are paying for a room with no heat until 10pm, complain again to the front desk at 6pm get told they are working on it. Such Liars. The Bartender went on vacation and their restaurant and bar was completely shut down all weekend because they are to cheap to hire a replacement. Now for the room, well not much to say, but wow they put us in the basement with no elevator trucking luggage up and down stairs what fun. I'm allergic to down pillows and most places carry other types to accommodate for this, but apparently best western does not. Didn't know I need to travel with my own bedding. We just couldn't take it anymore and checked out 3 hours after checking in. They credited my account for 1 of the 2 nights. What a joke, 3 hours and was charged $197... Beware if you reserve a room here. It just might be your nightmare trip like they made ours.... Thanks for making my first trip to Big Bear miserable and expensive for NO reason...

"Horrible stay"
Coastal65206118929, 19 Avril 2021

My husband & I took our our daughter to big bear for 20th birthday. Our stay at this hotel was probably one of the worst!! When I confirmed our reservation 2 day before arriving was told restaurant & bar was open, got there it was not, bartender decided to go on vacation. There was no air conditioning was told to open sliding for the night! Ordered room w/ jacuzzi tub that didn't work!!! Beds were so uncomfortable & sheet are rough! When we took the elevator to the 2nd floor we had to walk down a bunch of stairs to get to the guest rooms, due to my knee this was very painful, if someone was in a wheelchair there is no way they could be on this floor!!this hotel did nothing to correct any problem. Wish I was told about something's so I could have booked a different hotel!!

"Great hotel, great breakfast"
MaDell3w, 29 Mars 2021

We have stayed here at least 3 or 4 times before. It is one of our top 3 spots in Big Bear. Here's why: 1. The staff is amazing! Sherry, Penny & the young man (sorry, did not catch his name) at the reception are so patient, kind & professional. They get so many inquiries between checking in, checking out & everything in-between. Yet, they manage to keep a smiley face & treat all guests with courtesy. 2. The rooms are of decent size. This time we had a King room w/fireplace. No balcony. We like that the room has a microwave and a dorm-size fridge. 3. The cleaning personnel is doing a fine job. This hotel is one of the establishments where the cleaning crew actually uses a vacuum cleaner to get the floors clean. Many hotels we have stayed in just brush over the dirt with something but do not truly clean the floors. Thank you for that! 4. Maintenance: If something is not right, the staff immediately attends to it. We had an issue with the fireplace and the door look. Travis, the maintenance man, immediately fixed the fireplace and while we were gone the next day, the door sensor was cleaned out to make the reader accept the room key. 5. Everything is take-out, and Eggs Benedict are not available. There is still the juice, coffee, milk, cereal, and individually wrapped bagels, Danishes, and toast. They still offer small yogurts and fresh fruit (mostly apples and bananas) as well as the cut-up watermelon, which is now put into small to-go cups with a lid. That is actually super convenient. There is one thing that I can think of possibly making better: The breakfast is supposed to be picked up and then taken to the room. While that fact in itself is not an issue, the make-to-order item (the eggs and potatoes) are being cooked and then put in a Styrofoam container. Then the kitchen staff puts at least two containers per bag. Those bags are super thin. 2 containers make the bag full & probably at weight capacity. If I may, I would suggest geting each breakfast guest their own bag, simply so they have room in the bag to add other items. Then one has at least 1 hand available to grab coffee or juice. There are no tablets available, so carrying food and drinks can become a challenge. Here is a tip: There are tablets in each guest room :) For hotel management I wish, they would bring that to their guests' attention. Maybe leave a little note in the room by the tray and tell guests that this might be needed in the morning to carry they breakfast items? Just an idea…

"Great Spot!"
MaureenC1909, 14 Mars 2021

One of the best things about this hotel is it's proximity to the snow summit brownie lot. We just walked to the lot and took a shuttle to the mountain from there. This saved us a lot of time sitting in the slow moving parking line.

"Ok if you don't have to use the toilet"
Jaime K, 09 Mars 2021

We stayed here for one night with our family. Every time anyone used the toilet it clogged up. EVERY.SINGLE.TIME. Bathroom is VERY outdated and you could see repairs they tried to make on the tile and walls (very poorly done). We like Best Western Hotels normally but this was a major disappointment and by far the worst one we have ever stayed at. DEFINTELY not worth the insane price we paid for one night.

"Quick relaxing get away"
admagana, 11 Février 2021

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel, the fire place and jacuzzi in the room were a plus. Breakfast was delicious, it wasn't just a continental breakfast there was a few things to choose from. Staff was attentive and friendly.

"Best place to Stay in a hotel in Big Bear"
George J, 08 Février 2021

Clean rooms all covid precautions taken. rooms were comfortable and a free cooked breakfast! Rooms had fire places and mini fridge and microwaves. Rooms were very clean and inviting. Entrance was very impressive for a best western with marble flooring a grand piano!

"Quant, homely hotel"
schaprez, 08 Février 2021

Beautiful location with a super friendly staff. They just need to offer options for cooling and circulating air even during the winter. I run very hot and couldn't sleep because there was no circulation.

"Good location"
2Leo, 05 Février 2021

I liked the location of this hotel, it was just before the downtown type of traffic starts with all the tourists getting from one place to another. My main issue with this hotel was that they had no USB plugs/adapters in their rooms - I had to charge my phone only in the car and we stayed the whole weekend. Very inconvenient lol. The complimentary breakfast was nice and the staff was super friendly as well. Very expensive considering what you receive for the stay, you're literally paying for just the good location near the lake and slopes.

"Great customer service"
samP4919AP, 01 Février 2021

Front desk was very helpful when we had difficulty's with the heater. They provided us with two heaters, and offered us a 2nd room to sleep in. Since we were all set up in the current room we took the two heater option and we're very comfortable. They also gave us a discount for our next stay.

"Disgustingly Dirty Room & Poor Customer Service in response"
ErikI897, 28 Janvier 2021

Checked in around 5pm with nobody in line, lady at the front desk was friendly and everything seemed great....at night, in the dark, dead tired from a long day skiing. Then woke up early to hit the slopes again. Although in daylight I could see the stains on the upholstered chairs and was glad I did not sit on one the night before. Then went to shower and noticed the bathtub grout cracked, missing and growing mold. Instead of repairing, it was covered with a white plastic corner molding. Ok, I can deal with all that.....But the F*ing hair ball placed on my towel was so gross!!!! Not just one hair missed during clean up; this was the giant multi-colored hairball from the industrial laundry dryer filter that was stuck in my face towel, even when it was delicately folded into a fan and placed neatly on the rack, with a 1' ball of human (I think) hair like a cherry on top of an ice cream sundae!!! How did they not see that?!?!?! So Gross! I took the towel and hairball to the front desk and gave it to the lady who gave a short insincere apology and nothing else. I then went out to my car to start it, and back in for breakfast. I don't think they expected me back so soon because one lady was holding the towel and Lisa (?) from HSKP was waiving her hands and talking....until they saw me, then sat quietly while I walked passed. I turned and asked if they had a question and she replied "no, I'm sorry". I'm pretty sure she was not apologizing to the other employee before I walked in. I ordered my covid protocol omelette and took a microwaved brown egg patty with chopped frozen sausage patties for the road; and was quite pleased to see this hotel in my rearview mirror!

"Cozy hotel in Big Bear with a fire place and free breakfast."
chriscJ9470AJ, 22 Janvier 2021

It was our first family trip to Big Bear and in doing my research on TA, the hotel accommodations in Big Bear are extremely limited. There's a million cabins for rent, but we preferred the convenience of a hotel for a short 3-day visit. The few hotels you'll find in Big Bear are 3-star (or less) and many with mixed or poor recent reviews. This hotel had good reviews, decent rates, and was in a good location so it was a great choice for our family of 4. The room was clean and outfitted with a microwave, a refrigerator, small table and chairs, and a gas fireplace operated by the flip of a switch. The fireplace kept the room cozy and warm, and was truly a charming yet modest touch. The hotel offered free breakfast. As some other reviewers mentioned, you go downstairs to the breakfast buffet area and you oder hot breakfast from a selected menu, and they make it to order. It's nothing fancy, but super convenient and easy when it's 40 degrees outside. They had a trio of omelettes to choose from, potatoes, and a choice of protein. There were also juices, fruit, pastries, and other individually wrapped items like yogurt for selection. We all thought the food was just fine. we ate it twice and it's a solid 7/10, maybe an 8/10 if you're really cold and hungry. Side note, we found that during MLK weekend we called and visited several restaurants and there was always an hour wait for take-out, yes for take-out, not dine in, which some places allowed outdoor dining. It literally took an hour to get a pizza from Dominos pick-up, not delivery. I don't know if there's always a wait everywhere during a holiday weekend, but having just a 10 minute wait for an omelette breakfast was extremely welcomed and appreciated. Overall, we had a nice time. No one visited or cleaned the room during our stay given COVID protocols, so I can't comment on that. But we were happy with our stay, have no complaints, and would stay again. I recommend it.

"Great Little Hotel"
travelandhappiness, 11 Janvier 2021

We planned a last minute trip here and were pleasantly surprised upon arrival. The hotel looks like a little castle, the rooms are cozy with a fireplace and balcony, and it has all of the amenities (pool, jacuzzi, gym, restaurant). We got a fantastic rate that included breakfast as well. And the location is pretty central to everything Big Bear has to offer. I don't normally choose Best Western's for accommodations, but this is one I would recommend!

"Poor guest service"
HMadden2021, 09 Janvier 2021

Customer service is poor, I have medical issues & expressed this @ check in yet still expected to climb stairs & since getting home informed my hip has shifted & another surgery is necessary & it's so noisey, beyond acceptable! Beds super small & heat continually runs

"pre Christmas getaway"
racramirez, 28 Décembre 2020

Beautifully decorated for the holiday, rooms were extremely clean and great views especially with the fireplace and balcony. very cozy, overall great place to stay even with covid. I would highly recommend anybody to stay here, close to restaurants and shops right off the main hwy. I'm planning to come back very soon.

"Worst hotel ever"
GoliP1, 18 Décembre 2020

This is negative 5 star review if that was possible. We booked this hotel because it had good reviews. The two people at the front desk definitely don't want to be here. I asked for a room with a view or something a little bigger for my two-year-old and he gave me the last room at the end of the hotel facing a parking lot. Then we asked for a pack and play and it was filthy. I had to call to try to get milk because we ran out for my daughter and the lady on the phone said they don't have room service and hung the phone up on me. We tried to call her back numerous times and she didn't pick up. My husband had to go walk to the front desk to talk to her. We have never been treated this poorly at any hotel we've ever gone to. Please consider any other hotel in big bear and stay far away from here. Best western needs to change the staff here specially the lady in from immediately because they are going to lose A Lot of business

"The good and the not so good"
cavatrip2020, 29 Novembre 2020

We will start off with the good vibes. The hotel is near a bike/walk trail which was nice because we brought our bikes. Great scenery, so we rode to the lake. Breakfast is served every morning, and because of COVID you go downstairs , order, and bring the food back to your room. Breakfast was great each morning....(downside is they use styrofoam and plastic ToGo containers so the amount of NON-biodergadable trash that accumulates is heart wrenching). Also, we paid 10.00 extra for a patio an we believe it was worth it. Rooms need to be cleaned better. The trash cans smelt rotten. The tub and vanity were not cleaned well. The beds are not queens they are fulls, and my husband and I could not sleep on one comfortably (and we are slim!). So they are not queens. The pillows are lumpy so we both woke up with stiff necks.

"Cute Chateau in the Snow"
Mod P, 09 Novembre 2020

This place is a great value for Big Bear. Well-priced and everything we needed for an overnight trip to see the snow. Breakfast during COVID was packaged hot and to-go. The staff were friendly. The hotel is a little older and shows its wear, BUT it was a simple room with everything needed to keep us cozy. Clean, comfortable, with breakfast! We will be back!

"Great location and value"
LightPacker687157, 24 Octobre 2020

Always stay here when traveling to Big Bear for business. Entire staff is friendly and helpful in every way. Rooms are clean and decorated with mismatched antiques which adds to the funky character of this hotel. Great location with everything you need nearby. Love the breakfast they provide-a notch better than most during covid times.

"Adequate room, excellent experience"
O8025YBkevinf, 17 Octobre 2020

The room was clean & comfortable, although nothing exceptional. The service I experienced was excellent though. I arrived early on a motorcycle journey for a one-night stay. Matthew, the front desk host, told me my room was not ready yet. However he gave me some advice on where to eat for lunch which turned into another adventure meeting a resident who gave me sightseeing advice. Even after a ride around the lake, when I returned my room wasn't ready but it was pleasant out and I sat at a table to read. Matthew called my cell phone to let me know when my room was available (still prior to posted check-in time) and was helpful with advice too. The room was spacious and had a nice balcony with a sliding door & two patio chairs. It was relaxing to enjoy the cool evening air with the patio door open. The bath/shower was clean and roomy. Upon checkout the next morning, I left before breakfast was served. The night clerk was friendly and offered me a "to go" goody bag with some snacks since I wouldn't be having their breakfast. The location is also ideal... located between the "village" and the shopping areas/resorts. There is plenty of parking and they accommodate motorcycles under the overhang at their entrance. I will stay here when I return to Big Bear.

"A Wonderful stay at a wonderful hotel!"
wywuvwoo, 05 Octobre 2020

I was at Big Bear Lake for business, and after a full day, it was nice to “come home” to Best Western Chateau! Our room had a balcony and fireplace, of which we enjoyed both. The breakfast the next morning was excellent—real eggs, sausage patties, breakfast potatoes, FRESH fruit cup, and an apple cinnamon danish, along with fruit juice. We ate in our room because of Covid19 restrictions, and I think there was an option to eat outside on the patio of the restaurant.

"Great location "
ColleenW398, 28 Septembre 2020

My husband and I stayed here for a 1 night quick getaway. The hotel is a very nice Europe style hotel. Very gracious hotel staff. Clean and fairly updated rooms. Close to the lake and Village area. Quite setting and our balcony faced the beautiful pine trees. We would definitely stay there again!

"HORRIBLE"
Joss68, 28 Août 2020

It must be the worst hotel I have ever been, dirty, ugly, worst customer services, especially the front desk. The food is also HORRIBLE, please don't go to this hotel, you will waste your money, vacations and peace

"Clean rooms, breakfast included"
kyle286, 10 Août 2020

Checking in and out was a breeze, even though the hotel was fully booked. Breakfast was free and pretty good with Covid procedures in place. Saw the staff cleaning regularly. Close to everything by the Lake. Would stay here again for sure.

"Enjoy this Hotel"
mraeoneill, 07 Août 2020

Our second visit. Got the same room and loved it. We did have an issue with check-in, but other than that we enjoyed our stay. Due to Covid the breakfast room was not available for seating, but they did a great job of providing a great breakfast. Can't wait until our next visit.

"Last min trip"
Novapau7, 01 Août 2020

During these difficult times it is very difficult to leave our homes, especially under my personal circumstances. One of the reason's I always choose a BW is because of the incredible service, cleanliness, and amazing customer service. Our visit to the Chateau was one the best experiences we've had so far. The room reached beyond expectation. Clean and if anyone said it was a pet room I would not believe it. I always appreciate their friendliness and caring staff. We are definitely coming back...mainly to enjoy the BW Chateau. Thank you BW for another great experience....home away from home.

"Wonderful place to stay"
KaerukunZ, 20 Juillet 2020

This was a return visit to this site, and my stay was awesome. The rooms are very comfortable, the ambiance was nice, quiet, and restful. The staff take very good care of you while you are there. I will definitely be back in the future.

"Rude staff"
Stephl6401, 27 Juin 2020

The front desk staff was not very welcoming towards me and my family. They made me feel like I didn't belong there. I noticed some racism going on. They were a lot more friendly and welcoming towards white guests, not so much towards everyone else. I didn't think it was appropriate with the racial issues going on in the states right now. The room was clean and neat. The pool area was nice. Breakfast was limited due to social distancing. Unfortunately, I will not be staying here again. I paid a lot for my room to not feel welcomed or treated equally.

"Overpriced and not a relaxing stay"
annec252020, 21 Juin 2020

I don't know why I based my stay with all the reviews here, but I did not have the same experience. Check in and check out was a breeze. Very understaffed which was understandable during this time. This was me and my partner's first anniversary getaway so we wanted to get a nice hotel and fish around the area. The hotel room was very cheap for the price that they make you pay. For both nights of our stay, it was very noisy all day to a point where the room would shake and wake us up. Pillows were uncomfortable, fireplace did not work, breakfast was not good that we had to eat outside and throw our order. And again, I can't exaggerate how noisy it was! If the price was cheaper then I would understand but thats not the case and therefore very disappointed.

"Waking up in the BB-Woods"
SunshineLara, 18 Juin 2020

This Hotel is Beautiful from the inside to the outside. Its super clean. There was a fire place in our room that we got to use at night in June 2020. The POOL was spotless (Clean) an the surrounding trees an birds singing was soo peaceful. It was close to the zoo. A few min drive to the village. I can not wait to go back.

"Big Bear Gem"
Tim C, 15 Juin 2020

Traveling with the family, we did a quick overnight in Big Bear Lake. This was the first time here and have to say we were thoroughly impressed ! A great location to all the attractions and easy access to the lake. The property was very clean and neat. If ever in need to stay overnight in Big Bear, it will be this Best Western.

"Poor management"
LightPacker21239558, 31 Mai 2020

We have stayed at this resort for over 10 years with previously pleasant experiences. This last trip the front desk manager was so bad she actually suggested staying somewhere else with our dogs. She also DOWNGRADED our reserved room because we brought pets. The SAME pets we have been bringing for a decade. We won't be returning and will now stay in a cabin next trip.

"This a is a wonderful place to stay when you are in Big Bear."
gfrenchman, 28 Mai 2020

Had a great stay at this hotel. The rooms are very clean and fresh, the attention to detail from cleanliness to the furniture was apparent that they are paying attention. Would stay there again given the chance.

"great value!!!"
kat830, 13 Mars 2020

This hotel i perfectly located in the center of everything!! Very clean!! quite hotel, family friendly, made to order complimentary breakfast! Perfect for the price! best place to stay when in town . Highly recommend checking it out. I will deff, be coming back here .

"Sweet spot"
seventwosix, 05 Mars 2020

I was hesitant booking a best Western but this is a sweet lil spot with free breakfast. The room was comfortable and it had a fireplace. And it's pretty close to snow Summit. I would definitely recommend this place.

"Beautiful Hotel with Great accommodations!"
Glentopia, 04 Mars 2020

We went up to big bear with the family and two dogs and I am so thankful for the team at best western chateau for being so accommodating. There is a gym and a play room in the basement as well as a door that leads outside to the yard where the dogs can do their business (even provide poo bags) and a warm jacuzzi. The entire lot is beautiful and the chateau being surrounded by trees made me feel appropriately on vacation. There is a Walgreens conveniently located 2 min walk away for anything that you may have forgotten to pack on your trip. The room itself was extremely cozy and was surprised to even find a fireplace (at least my room had one)for the cold nights in big bear! We've tried the dining area a couple times and non of us came across something we didn't like. The bar was surprisingly Lively the weekend that we had went as well. Overall my experience at this best western was superb and I loved all the little details and decorations sprinkled throughout hotel. Definitely exceeded my expections of a best western. Forgot to take pictures many pictures but here's one of my dog enjoying his stay

"My favorite hotel..."
Chunsa1004, 03 Mars 2020

I live in Los Angeles and when ever I go to Big Bear for sking or just to get away for the weekend, I stay here. This is not your ordinary newly built hotel...actually I think it's quite old but very well maintained and staff are just wonderful. The room is arranged with some hard to find antique furnitures and it gives very cozy vibe especially with fireplace going. I also love the free breakfast and i am not talking about some cereal and yogurt. They serve you hot breakfast of your choice along with just about everything you would need for full day of activities. After full day of sking I would come back to the hotel and head out to their outdoor jacuzzi to just relax...what more can I ask for.

"Nice stay"
iodrome, 03 Mars 2020

Whenever we come up for vacation/skiing, we stay here because it's close to EVERYTHING. They have spacious and cozy rooms with a fireplace, classic furniture, and biiig bathtubs. We don't have to go out to a restaurant for breakfast because the complimentary breakfast has a chef who makes food to order and it's good!

"BED BUGS!!! BEWARE!!"
matzeratheric, 28 Février 2020

BED BUGS!!! BEWARE!! I broke out into a rash after sleeping there 1 night. I had my rash inspected and was confirmed I came into contact with bed bugs. Customer service wouldn't acknowledge it and no help offered!! After trying to reach the management, they would hang up, not letting me speak to anyone. Corporate wont help as they claim "all complaints have to be dealt with by the hotel itself". Hotel rooms are also not ADA compliant, bath tubs do not hold water! Dirty, dirty hotel with rude management. Avoid at all costs!!

"Not great considering the price"
JCJOHNCONNOR, 07 Février 2020

Just had a one night stay here as going skiing. Great location but not a lot else going for it. Rooms were very dated and old , no pools were open and not even the bar was open. Breakfast was ok but restaurant staff was rude. This is not what I expect if Best Western especially as the room was £160 for the night!

"Great hotel!"
matty7831, 07 Février 2020

Fantastic stay here last month comfy beds with great food! Has a real home feel about the place and the staff go the extra mile when checking in location also okay not too far from anything just a quick drive away

"Loved it...quite surprising!"
yomaddogmarty, 04 Février 2020

I had car trouble and needed to stay in Big Bear unexpectedly. Picked this hotel from TripAdvisor and because of prior history with the Best Western in California City. Couldn't be happier! Great stay, very nice.

"Large Rooms and Great Breakfast"
Dennis M, 28 Janvier 2020

When is the last time you were able to get eggs benedict as a complimentary hotel breakfast? That is just one of the surprises that await you at this hotel. When I first made my reservation I thought the room rate was a little high but the large room and great breakfast made it worthwhile. The building is aging so be prepared for uneven floors and lower ceilings but the beautiful chandeliers in the breakfast room and lobby make up for it.

"Great Hotel"
B3747VBinfo, 23 Janvier 2020

Wonderful Hotel, excellent breakfast too! Close to Snow Summit if you plane on skiing. Also, close to Brownie parking lot for shuttle to mountain. European decor, comfortable beds.Have stayed here several times over the last 4-5 years and have always enjoyed the stay.

"Great stay minus the dirty room"
jeannette9264, 20 Janvier 2020

Fun time in Big Bear. Had a great stay. A little loud with the people and kids running the halls. Housekeeper knocked on our door even though I had a DND. Sign. Told her to come back in 10 minutes and she never showed up. We returned to a dirty room.

"Chill Chateau"
Darrel L, 16 Janvier 2020

This BW property definitely has the castle vibe happening from the exterior look to the Old European atmosphere in the lobby and gas fireplaces in every room (which also have mini fridges, microwaves and coffee makers). One “con” would be that the double beds are a bit on the small side. But thumbs up on the complimentary breakfast here – in addition to the usual self-serve options like waffles, breads, fruits, etc., guests are offered a hot breakfast selection served to your table (including eggs benedict or an egg white omelette). The staff is very nice and eager to please, especially Penny at the front desk, who helped me with some BW Rewards program questions. And two calls to the front desk – for extra towels and to report a clogged toilet – were responded to quickly. Definitely the kind of accommodations that enhance your ski trip get-away (my 12-year-old liked the overall “feel” too!)

"Small creaky old beds, less than helpful staff"
fc8882020, 05 Janvier 2020

The beds were really old and creaky. If you are a light to semi-light sleeper don't stay here.Dont even bother with getting a double bed room, extremely tiny and way overpriced. Staff was not the friendliest.

"shabby and $350/night for the holiday weekend"
danchang2020, 02 Janvier 2020

i paid 350 per night for this past december 27 weekend for a basement pet room - the room was pretty shabby and definitely did not feel worth the price. service was friendly and the complimentary breakfast decent, but the room just didn't have 350 / night value

"pleasant stay"
dethman, 01 Janvier 2020

drove up here and stayed the night to go skiing with my family. pleasant check in with nicely decorated lobby. room was a bit on the small side, and i couldn't figure out how to get the fireplace to work but it was suitable. the included breakfast was decent, they do make a part of it made to order, but don't expect too much, the eggs benedict were made with fried eggs, not poached. was able to charge my car overnight with one of the few level 2 chargers available in big bear. very close proximity to snow summit. wound recommend.

"Best Hotel In Town"
Robert K, 13 Décembre 2019

The staff is wonderful here. The rooms are spacious and clean. The breakfast is second to none. This Best Western is close to both Bear and Snow Summit. It's also right in the center of town so everything is close. Trust me, stay here!

"Chateau"
nancyo496, 13 Décembre 2019

Beautiful hotel.. definitely a chateau atmosphere. Rooms were cozy and comfortable. The staff was friendly,. In the lounge Aaron was fantastic, friendly and funny. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

"Nice stay"
paulinhala, 09 Décembre 2019

Nice stay! Very close to Snow Summit! The complimentary breakfast was delicious! The fireplace in the room is a plus! The outdoors needs some maintenance! Hotel is great and cozy! The bar/restaurant is great for those that don't want to leave the hotel!

"Will stay here again"
MrRS-lv-sm, 01 Décembre 2019

Coming back on Dec 14, my son really liked it. Bringing my daughter, so we can enjoy Big Bear together. Looking forward to playing in the snow, family time and a great dinner. Love the woods first time here, really Loved it

"Comfortable Stay, Friendly Staff"
Hugh S, 25 Novembre 2019

I don't know what they could do better. Our stay was quite pleasant. The rooms were clean,in good condition and comfortable. The staff was very easy to communicate with at check-in, check-out and during dinner and breakfast. the location is central The Village and ski slopes, though that's not why we made our booking.

"Family Friendly Fun"
DrFrisbie, 24 Novembre 2019

This property has changed brands and management across recent years. Currently a Best Western. The BW affiliation seems very positive. The staff is friendly and professional. Rooms are clean and the hotel feels refreshed. Clean, comfortable, most rates include a full breakfast with made-to-order dishes and self-serve options. Our family enjoyed the snow and the lake. Skipping rocks at sunset: Priceless.

"Highly recommended....good value, nice rooms and excellent breakfast"
Lois V, 21 Novembre 2019

Took a trip up to Big Bear from LA to see the foliage. Best Western Hotels are always nice, and this was no exception. We were particularly impressed by the breakfast, which was included. The breakfast room is spacious and well appointed. There is the usual fruit, cereal, pastry buffet...but in addition, there are custom made omelettes, eggs, sausage, bacon, potatoes....which were yummy. Service is friendly and efficient. In all, a wonderful stay and excellent value. Express check in and out was super easy. Highly recommended.

"Nice Hotel, great breakfast"
NiftyTraveler2014, 20 Novembre 2019

We stayed here for a couple of nights in October. The breakfast is very good. It looked like they closed the pool for the winter at the beginning of October, but the Jacuzzi was open. The grounds were nice and the room was clean.

"Great Value"
LightPacker687157, 20 Novembre 2019

Whenever my travels take me to Big Bear, I stay at the Best Western Big Bear Chateau. It is s good location, is clean and the staff is amazing. The free breakfast in the morning is really nice....something for everyone.

"Great hotel"
Rachelle S, 18 Novembre 2019

We had a great stay at the best western big bear chateau. It was clean and staff was amazing. The breakfast has great options with made to order food as well. My only complaint was the bed, it was hard and springy.

"Best Western Big Bear"
susievalles, 16 Novembre 2019

This was a great hotel. Friendly staff, awesome rooms, very clean and well maintained. Great breakfast room. Also has a restaurant in the hotel. Easy to get to off of main road. Close to everything to do in Big Bear

"Property and breakfast were great! Mgmt not so much"
Bri2020, 11 Novembre 2019

Property is older but works, custom made egg breakfast was good. Had an issue while staying there when I switched on the shower and the bathtub spout flew off the wall and hit me. Never though I'd experience that at a hotel. When I reported it to the hotel they asked if I was okay then basically said don't come back later and tell us you're injured. Completed BW corporate survey advising them of issue and later spoke with manager who informed me she was semi retired. Recommended they have maintenance check other showers so doesn't happen to someone else but felt like I was dismissed. The hotel made me feel like the bad guy for bring up an incident then offered 3000 rewards points for getting hit with a piece of metal in the shower. Will not be staying there again.

"Outdated, smelly and dirty"
Ginny R, 03 Novembre 2019

I was so looking forward to this trip, but unfortunately this hotel fell a little short for me. Everything looks to be about 30 years old and badly in need of replacement. I was so excited for the jacuzzi tub but some weird brown stuff came out of the jets and I was too grossed out to try it, even after rinsing the tub a few times. Everything in the room smelled musty. On the positive side, the staff was very nice and the free breakfast was good. I wouldn't go back though. I feel like I paid more for a jacuzzi tub that wasn't usable.

"Excellent"
darrellstone, 28 Octobre 2019

We had an excellent stay at the Best Western. The location was good, the hotel was excellent. The staff were very friendly and helpful. When next in Big Bear we will definitely consider staying at the Best Western

"Best hotel stay"
Suzanne B, 14 Octobre 2019

This was the nicest hotel we have stayed at in a long time. Made to order eggs for breakfast, hotel and room very clean. Nicely decorated lobby and hall. Hot tub was nice. Great location Hope to visit again next year and stay longer.

"Oktoberfest girls trip"
windi609, 14 Octobre 2019

BEAUTIFUL HOTEL! Wonderful friendly staff. Decor is amazing... not your typical hotel or BW. Very clean and they even offer a free shuttle. Rooms are beautifully decorated, beds are comfortable, fridge and microwave in each room and pleasantly surprised with a beautiful fireplace. I will definitely be back!!!

"Excellent Surprise"
Xio-01, 02 Octobre 2019

OMG, great, clean room. Very quiet, easy to get around, and the room rate came with an excellent breakfast. The rooms have antigue furniture, comfortable beds, fireplace and jetted deep tub. First class amenities too. Easy parking and a real old world elegance vibe in the decor. And did I mention this place has A/C!!!!!

"Beautiful Hotel"
Bill2012-08, 01 Octobre 2019

A great place to stay in Big Bear. We really appreciate the staff's helpfulness with local dining recommendations and other recommendations for things to do around the area. Most of all we enjoyed the relaxation and atmosphere of the hotel and area.

"Excellent hotel and staff for the price"
Keith B, 30 Septembre 2019

My five star rating isn't meant to indicate the hotel competes with a classic expensive five star hotel. The hotel and staff deserve five stars given it is a competitively priced hotel. Free breakfast runs until 10AM. In our experience that's an hour later than "most" (not all) similar hotels we've stayed in. It's important for letting people sleep-in while on vacation as opposed to business. Breakfast buffet was as fuly complete as any hotel with similar style breakfasts. Make your own waffles, etc. (Other hotels sometimes have reduced options often because of the space they have available. Not this hotel.) Plenty of breakfast seating. Eggs with bacon/sausage and potatos are prepared to-order fresh by the staff from limited options. Cheese omelet, veggie omlete, Eggs Benedict, scrambled, and I think an omlete variant I'm forgetting. Since they'll prepare scrambled, I'd assume they'd just fry-up eggs also even if it wasn't listed as an option. Desk staff was friendly, efficient, and helpful. Breakfast staff likewise. Condition of hotel is very clean and nice. Main negative would be the toilet was small and low. (We had a standard room, not an 'accessible' room.) Never encountered that in a hotel before. The lounge chairs in the room were also low. Particularly noticable given the work table they were paired with. My recommendation to the hotel would be both seem like they could be remedied over time, room-by-room, without a serious remodeling cash flow hit. Very nice hotel we'd definitely stay at again.

"Good Hotel with Weird Hallways"
Glenn S, 24 Septembre 2019

Pleasant stay, comfortable, nice gas fireplace, big TV, well supplied room, excellent hot breakfast. I'm getting old and the weird elevator/stair layout was not favorable. The elevator does not stop at your floor, but at a landing with 1/2 flight of stairs to navigate with luggage. Luggage carts won't work and our room was the furthest on the hall. Was very quiet, but move-in and move-out was a pain. Also, central HVAC plant was not providing any heat or A/C to the air handlers. Maybe they would fire it up in the morning if needed, Thankfully, the gas fireplace was able to keep the room cozy.

"The Chateau"
Travel35210103372, 24 Septembre 2019

Great location, excellent weather this time of year, numerous events happening around the village and lake, great eating and shopping downtown! Easy access, parking and free too! Not overly crowded but comfortable!

"AMAZING!!!"
Doreen C, 17 Septembre 2019

The location was great. All the staff were so helpful and friendy. The breakfast was wonderful. But the best was to be able to swim at night in a heated pool surrounded by pine trees. What a hidden gem!

"Birthday stay"
kathryn e, 12 Septembre 2019

This hotel was beautiful and charming. Our room had a fireplace. Very cozy. We were celebrating my sister's and my own birthdays. The free breakfast was a nice surprise. the staff were all friendly and helpful as well.

We usually stay here in the wintertime, but this visit was wonderful as we enjoyed the heated pool-in-the-pines! Very lovely to relax poolside and listen to the bluejays and woodpeckers. The is hot, hot, hot! The breakfast is made fresh every morning of of a select menu. Best of all this hotel welcomes your furry family members and offers EV destination charging! (Best kept secret on the mountain!) We'll definitely be back again and again!

"Great Stay off Moonridge"
edR4873TA, 19 Août 2019

We enjoyed this hotel very much. Quiet evenings and comfortable bedding. The breakfast options allowed us to hit the ground running. Ample parking and friendly staff. Great amenities, such as a heated pool and welcoming lobby and breakfast eating area.

"large tote but clean and efficient"
empty-nesters627419, 18 Août 2019

This large hotel has plenty of parking, clean rooms and large pool. This is close to all local attractions and good value. I would ask for a quiet room on top floors. Food services are located on site.

"Our Regular Go-To Hotel -- Best Location in Big Bear"
Laurie L, 12 Août 2019

Love this quiet, peaceful hotel tucked away among the pine trees -- yet only a mile or two from the main downtown shopping/dining area on Pine Knot Avenue. A really nice hideaway and the ONLY place we would consider when we visit Big Bear. Gracious and helpful staff. Full breakfast. Nice pool area with lots of grass and tall pine trees.

"Loved this property"
jenniferb208, 30 Juillet 2019

My husband and I wanted to get out of Heat of Las Vegas for a couple of days and we decided to stay at this property. We loved it. The check in was easy. All of the staff was friendly and helpful. We reserved a pet friendly room. I was worried at a few of the reviews but the room was large and well equipped. The AC worked fabulous. Bathroom was very nice and clean. The shower looked brand new. Also the grounds of the hotel were beautiful. We had the heated pool to ourselves for a few hours. The property has old world charm. Also the feee breakfast was great. We are so happy we stayed there. Also before arriving I called the property to make sure that our dog would be welcome and the receptionist answered the phone quickly and was happy to look up our reservation. The property is about 2 miles from the village area, but there is a ton of parking in the village. Over all this property and town were so cute, we will be back!

"Always a great stay and great customer service for us and our dog"
Kim C, 28 Juillet 2019

Once again we had a great stay at the BW Big Bear. The dog friendly rooms are downstairs with access out back to a nice green lawn for the dog to take care of business any time of day or night. The room is always clean and comfy. We always get a microwave and mini fridge when we request it. The desk manager Sherri is one of the nicest people I have ever met at a hotel and genuinely care about our stay. The free breakfast is always great, whether it be the hot menu items or the waffles and other food. I highly recommend this hotel, especially for the great hot tub and pool area. We even ate our take out food by the pool and it was a great evening.

"Comfy, Clean, Cons are Manageable"
Allons-y2016, 25 Juillet 2019

We stayed one night at the Chateau in a King size bed/fireplace room and slept comfortably. The room and bathroom were very clean. They provided complimentary bottled water, tea and coffee. The bathroom sports a spa jet tub/shower combo. There is also a mini fridge and microwave both of which we had to plug in ourselves to use. I assume this is to save energy but also perhaps because the mini fridge is kinda noisy. I heard it kicking on and off throughout the night. It was a warm day so we ran the A/C all night which worked great but again it was noisy. It at least drowned out the noise of our neighbors and anyone walking down the hallway. Our room also boasted of a balcony which was tiny. In this particular room (130) it is facing the parking lot (see pics). We didn't bother using it especially since it was in the direct sun. We went out to the use the pool but it was already full with about 4-5 families. It wasn't very big at all and the hot tub only fit a few people. That was full also. We settled for the tub in our room. The hotel has a workout room which is small but has several pieces of equipment. There's also a rec room with a pool table, table tennis, and air hockey. These rooms and the entrance to the outdoor pool are all located on the lower level. As we walked to the pool we heard someone's dog barking excessively. You could still hear it up on the 2nd floor where we were staying as well. Noise can be a problem here. The service at the hotel was great. We received a fast and efficient check in and check out. This hotel also serves a full breakfast which was a factor for us choosing it. Meals can be pricey in Big Bear so we figured this was a good deal considering we were paying about $148 for one night. Breakfast included custom ordered eggs and your choice of sausage or bacon. They also have a coffee/tea bar, a juice fountain, cereal, oatmeal, various baked goods, a waffle bar, and fresh fruit. Breakfast is from 6:30-10AM. I recommend going early as possible because it fills up and gets noisy in there the later it gets.

"Comfortable room. Nice pool"
Loveagreatvacation, 15 Juillet 2019

We stayed for 1 night. Room is clean and comfortable even though is a bit out dated. Our room was near the ballroom that happened to have a wedding that day so it was a bit noisy. Luckily it was over by 10 PM. Hotel decor is a bit Tacky. Really enjoyed the pool. We were hiking in the heat and it was great coming back to the hotel and relaxing at the pool which is surrounded by lovely large pine trees. Breakfast was average with a decent selection of food and eggs to order. Would definitely stay here again.

"Nice and clean"
marlieh2014, 08 Juillet 2019

Rooms were average size and nice and clean. We had a gas fireplace. Made to order breakfast is from 7-10am included. I wish it started earlier. Free parking but no washer/dryer at the hotel. Room walls are thin. You can hear your neighbors clearly. Would stay here again.

"Beautiful Room and Pool!"
Passenger46950411094, 05 Juillet 2019

The hotel room was very nice, this time we had a refrigerator and microwave which made it a lot better! I have a pool at home so I wouldn't normally use the pool but, the experience of being in a pool surrounded by huge beautiful trees outdoors was amazing!

"We Loved It!! Cozy, Great Price!! "
840MelissaH, 17 Juin 2019

My family & I really enjoyed our stay here & the price was wonderful. Beautiful setting, great cozy rooms with a fireplace, and great breakfast. I had bacon, eggs, & fried potatoes for breakfast ... very good! Definitely recommend it. Friendly staff, too.

"Lookout for the bill"
varghesezac, 04 Juin 2019

The hotel is nice. However please watch-out for the bill. I stayed with my family for two days over the memorial day weekend. Had reserved the room through Best western's website. Even though the final price with taxes was $820 on the website, which I confirmed and paid through the credit card, the hotel charged $870 after the stay was completed. Calling the customer care did not help. Please double check the bill for discrepancies before you leave the hotel. Express checkout is absolutely not recommended.

"Amazing place! Great Staff!"
Maps11380539614, 25 Mai 2019

Had a minor issue with the room that was likely previously unreported by prior guests. The staff was amazing in helping resolve the issue on a fully booked weekend due to a large event. The breakfast was also amazing. Loved staying here. Will go back as often as possible!

"Great Value"
LightPacker687157, 08 Mai 2019

This property is older but very well maintained. The free breakfast was fantastic-lots of hot and cold options. Great location close to Village. Walking distance to shops-grocery, Walgreen's and Starbucks.

"The most Beautiful of all the Best Westerns!"
skinnygirl140, 08 Mai 2019

We had the most fantastic room, view of the pines, swimming pool and where one gets married. Our room was over 500 sq. feet with a Jacuzzi bathtub. It was very large with beautifully appointed furnishings with marble table tops. The most beautiful Armoir I have ever seen. We had a chef cook our breakfast from a 5 item menu unlike the usual buffet. However, the buffet abound with plenty of breakfast items, waffels, fresh fruit, plenty of self serve coffee and juice and so much more. That evening we went to the bar for a nightcap. The bar/dining room was absolutely gorgeous. 2bd largest Tiffany lamp in the USA, wooden table and chairs, wainscoting was marble and so on. This hotel is the most beautiful Hotel of Best Westerns I have ever stayed in.

"Beautiful Chateau and Great Breakfast"
DeeDub760, 04 Mai 2019

You may already know this but April and early May is Big Bear's slowest time of the year, or so we were told. No crowds to speak of. Driving around at 8:30pm, the main drag was almost empty. We arrived in the afternoon of Easter Sunday. There were only a few families in the hotel. We arrived before the usual check-in time and they had no problem getting us a room. The room was nicely appointed with quality furniture and a comfortable bed. Our room didn't have a sofa, which I would have preferred but everything was quality. A small refrigerator was brought in upon request, at no extra charge, and they would have included a microwave, as well, but we didn't need it. The location of the Chateau is excellent. It's near the ski slopes and also near the CVS Pharmacy, for those who need an aspirin or two after a day on the slopes. The building itself was very clean, well staffed and quite charming, like a chateau! The breakfast was very good. They had the server yourself basics... toast, muffins, juices, coffee, oatmeal, make-your-own waffles, etc. The eggs, bacon, sausage, etc., was cooked to order and brought out to you. All of this was included in the room charge. The breakfast room was large and had a very welcoming feel. Although the breakfast staff seemed like they might not be morning people. Speaking of staff, the front desk staff was wonderful... excellent, really! We didn't see housekeeping but they did a very nice job on our room each night day. Personally, I thought leaving an envelope marked "tips" was a bit tacky but I usually tip housekeeping anyway. I'm not sure why this location is a Best Western and not a Best Western Plus. It seemed to have all the amenities. If you're looking for a place to stay in Big Bear, it's a great choice.

"Great experience"
Escape603778, 01 Mai 2019

Nice motel in convenient location. A little outdated but I think it's the style they are trying to maintain. The room was of good size and clean, bed very comfortable. Very nice and appetizing breakfast each morning. Would definitely stay here again

"Inn-different"
Seaside00885995154, 25 Avril 2019

The BW Big Bear Chateau has a stately charm. The hotel was clean and tidy throughout. There is an elevator though it does not go down to the lower level floor which hampered my use of the luggage cart. The hotel is pet friendly and has only a few rooms (lower level) designated for pets, including service dogs. The pictures of my room were slightly deceiving as the room appeared to be larger than it is. An enormous built in closet sits on the wall at the foot of the bed is oversized for the space. making the room feel cramped. Refrigerators and microwaves are not an in-room amenity. The bed was large but extremely uncomfortable. It was so hard it felt as is I was sleeping on a slab of concrete. The lower level rooms have no balcony or patio and only a small window looking out at street level. Free parking, and a robust complimentary breakfast is provided. Overall, I felt indifferent about the hotel which seemed to mimic the attitude of the staff.

"Best place to stay in Big Bear"
Venture41794399956, 15 Avril 2019

Elegant and grand. I didn't want to leave the hotel. The decor was nice. I loved the in room fire place. The room was clean and I really liked the sanitized remote control, packaged pillow, blanket, etc.

"Unique decor, close to ski resort"
Megan E, 05 Avril 2019

We were pleasantly surprised to find this hotel. Briefly, the hotel was clean, quite, warm and offered what is expected in a hotel. The decor is difficult to describe. After inquiring at the front desk, we discovered this hotel was the first one built, in 1985, in the Big Bear area, The decor was mostly imported from Europe and has a Roman flair. Some of the furniture is quite old, others are more recent copies. The door between our room and the next was hand carved, solid wood. I should have taken a picture - Room 125. The breakfast was very good and quick (we stayed there mid-week). They have a kitchen, meaning you order your eggs or sausages. There is also a self-serve waffles, yogurt, bagels, coffee, cereal, oatmeal, apples and bananas. There is also a small restaurant but seems to serve only dinner. We were very satisfied with the breakfast. There is a small pool but we were there in April so it was still closed. The property is less than a mile from the base of Snow Summit. We wished we had stayed two nights so we could just go back to the room instead of the three hour drive back home. Next time...

"Well done BW BBC"
MikeColbourn, 19 Mars 2019

I must admit that we had medium expectations for the BW Big Bear Chateau. Room was large, clean. The property is somewhat interesting in that it's history as a chateau is obvious when you walk in the front door. Two outstanding features: 1. The staff - very personable and made great recommendations for dinner. Noon checkout allowed us to ski! 2. Breakfast - made to order and the Eggs Benedict was really, really great.

"Beautiful in Big Bear"
P5111MOstevenh, 08 Mars 2019

We arrived on a rather wet afternoon and well before the check in time per our email. They checked us in early, the room was clean and well maintained. Our visit was wonderful. My son had fun playing in the snow. The hotel and room are very clean. We will definitely stay again.

"No go chateau"
Patsy H, 01 Mars 2019

Our first time at a Best Western hotel. I would not recommend this place. We went because of the glowing reviews on trip advisor but we were really disappointed with our visit. The pictures of the hotel are really deceiving. The hotel was dirty, really run down, noisy and many of the staff unhappy-- especially in the breakfast room. I couldn't wait to get out of there! The only positive was that the location was less than a 5 minute drive to the ski resort.

"Good for Our Purpose"
Leanna T, 01 Mars 2019

We were in Big Bear to Ski. We have stayed here on a previous trip. It is clean and a good value for your money with breakfast included (in my deal). The double queen room was a good size and the towels and sheets were clean and the shower was hot. On the down side, this hotel is showing its wear. There was ice on the patio that melted during the day causing the carpet in front of the door to be wet,and not a big deal for us. The staff is very nice.

".... I'm done with hotel"
Claude O, 25 Février 2019

old, old and outdated. Now they charge a resort fee ( please )... they charge $ 329 per night or more but the price that I paid is not worth it. No USB's in the rooms but again this place is old and the owners refuse to renovate the place.

"Great experience! Very Happ!"
Connector63982301139, 16 Février 2019

Great Experience! Very happy! Great Service. Cheri at the from desk was awesome. Super friendly and accommodating. The kind of person you want to be at a front desk to check you in. Mark at the front desk was also very helpful.

"Great costumer service"
Xxxally, 04 Février 2019

Just spent the whole weekend here. Every year we would rent a cabin but this time we tried best western just to compare and Here is why we are going to book here again. 1. Booking the Room comes with delicious Full breakfast 2. Great costumer service! (Everyone was Friendly. front desk, specially the waiters and room maids) 3. Close to most restaurants and activities Though the hotel was outdated it was very clean specially the rest room. to add the Main, reason we go back anywhere is because of great service and cleanliness and this hotel did it for us. Also, If you have little ones this place is convenient.

"Only place to stay when going to Big Bear!"
Robert K, 17 Janvier 2019

This is the only place to stay at when going to Big Bear. The rooms are clean and spacious. The staff is courteous and attentive. The breakfast is what makes this place really special. Location is extremely close to both mountains.

"Seems to be run down"
afridman, 15 Janvier 2019

Stayed in mid-January in room 132, and have only good things to say about service, breakfast, working jaccuzi and hotel's location. However, the physical premises seem to be run down or poorly kept: drafty and cold lobby, some parts of hallways, business center, gym and game room. Specifically, game room's table tennis rackets that are loaned to customers have only one sided full handle, the air hockey machine has one of its sides wobbled and precludes its use in the game (see picture), only one pool table pole is available. The game room's heater is hard to find and does not work particularly well given that the outside door and its frame has a large sliver of open space (see picture). Game room's fireplace does not work. The gym is dirty, with empty bottle and plastic cups around, and dirty tablecloth (see picture). The customer room's furniture is old, and armchair rests are worn.

"Close to the Ski Resorts"
GlobeRunR, 06 Janvier 2019

We came up to ski for two days. The Best Western was fine for us. Check-in staff was helpful and friendly (including the cute dog behind the counter). We enjoyed the hot chocolate in the lobby. No matter how we thought to get to our room, there were steps we had to take up or down. The room was big enough for 4 of us, allowing us all to relax after a day on the slopes. We did need help from staff to get the fireplace going. The hotel did remind me of how I think of Best Westerns in the US - older looking décor in a mix of styles. Nicely, the hotel was close enough to many evening dining options, so we had choices. The included breakfast in the morning was fine, but not fancy at all, with several standard options to chose from. I did use the gym to stretch in the morning. Do not try to arrive before 7am! There were a few machines, some quite unique. They could have used paired weights for lifting. That said, we were there to ski, and it was easy to get to Snow Summit and Bear Mountain (without the traffic near the lake), each good for a day of skiing.

"What a great stay!"
robyell, 25 Décembre 2018

We stayed here so we could go wheeling in the beautiful mountains. They are dog friendly as well. It is a beautiful hotel. The only issue we had was one morning the smoke alarm was going off and the room smelled of electrical burn and the shower was a little hard to navigate not sure how that shower works. But the stay was nice.Would stay here again.

"Bud C"
Meander64326452468, 18 Décembre 2018

This is a run down property and look around if your heading up there. If the rooms are limited they will jack up your price. The fireplace nor the lights worked in my room when we got in. The furnishings look like they bought anything they could from other failed hotels over the years and placed them throughout the property. The stairwells are off limits but if you accidentally go into one take a hazmat suit :-) Not a fan and I will not return.

"Best lodging in Big Bear, CA"
Passport07339468226, 17 Décembre 2018

If you just think of "Best Western" hotels as a mediocre choice, You must give Big Bear Chateau at Big Bear Lake, CA - serious consideration!!. They will go out of their way to make your stay comfortable. You will be more than pleasantly surprised !

"Horrible"
anon571, 15 Décembre 2018

Loved Big Bear lake but unfortunately experiences at this hotel tainted it..we had problem right from check in..the evening front of house reception staff where grumpy to the point of rude almost accusing when there was issue with our booking..The beds are the most uncomfortable we have ever experienced..the gas heater let's off a smell which made the room stuffy and very hot!.. the cooked breakfast was over cooked and the potatoes tasted odd..the breakfast staff were rude and abrupt and all but ignored us both mornings. There is absolutely no sound proofing in rooms. The manager was very appologic about our issues at check in. But unfortunately I would not return..the hotel has potential but misses the mark. Having stayed at many best westerns on our US trip they have all been fantastic..not BIg Bear.

"Absolutely Fabulous!"
evelynb478, 12 Décembre 2018

Very happy with our stay at this location. My daughter participated at the Spartan Race so we wanted to make a weekend out of it. This is the best place with an awesome breakfast! Definitely top-notch! Very clean and in a wonderful area surrounded by the wilderness.

"Beautiful Hotel, excellent location"
552randallj, 10 Décembre 2018

Great location near slopes with easy access and adequate parking. Very nice restaurant and perhaps the best breakfast experience we have had in a "breakfast inclusive" hotel. Inviting lobby with very efficient staff.

"Big Bear Ski trip"
FarAway50366395557, 26 Novembre 2018

Pros: Nice exterior, lobby, comes with basic breakfast plus they can make omlettes. Check in/out was fast and easy. Rooms have a fireplace and central heat/air. Staff was friendly and helpful. Good location near Snow Summet.Room size is average for the area. We didn't have time to use the fitness center. Don't leave any food or snacks in your car!!! This is bear country...Cons: no mini-frig! Had not place to keep lunch or leftovers. Price is a little high for a Best Western and for the area. Hotel room decor doesn't match the exterior of the hotel...Victorian style trying for fancy but comes off as dated.Still nice for a romantic ski weekend.

"Service without the smile"
I_Evers84, 17 Novembre 2018

Stayed here as a stop over on a road trip. Large rooms that were clean. One of the nicer looking hotels that we have stayed in on our three week trip. No fridge in the room and I wouldn't say it was service with a smile. Staff did their jobs but I wouldn't say any were particularly friendly or helpful and it came across as if none wanted to be at work. Woken about 8am with cleaners hoovering what sounded like the walls in the room across the hall.

"Always wanted to check this place out"
Ligaya72, 14 Novembre 2018

This is one of the prettiest BW I've ever been. It's down the street from our cabin, and after a weekend of doing reno work on our house; we needed a nice bed and a shower. It was a perfect stay, nice enough that we stayed and ordered in. Our room was nice, clean, and the fireplace was a nice touch. The bathroom was huge. There was a balcony but it was cold enough already that we could not use it then. We love the dogs that stayed in the hotel. It brought some memories of having my dog travel with me @ a BW in Millbrae. The staff is nice, there's free hot breakfast with on demand omelet, eggs benedict, etc of your choice and some oatmeal, bagel, breads, toast, waffles. Also, this is across the street from one of the best massage place you'll ever go to. I have plans to stay there again.

"Nice stay"
Pam S, 13 Novembre 2018

Very nice value - for a stay in big bear- The rooms are quaint and clean - walls are a bit thin so you may hear someone turning on the shower - and they do have a hot breakfast with the stay - nothing fancy- but it was good - Overall we enjoy our stay everytime we are here - The staff is always very friendly and there is plenty of parking -

"Escape"
Jeannette1005, 20 Octobre 2018

We needed an escape and weren't sure where to stay since we had our golden retriever and lab with us. BW not only accepted them with pleasure, they had a fabulous place to take them outside that was safe and they had doggie bowls waiting for them. To me that makes them A#1

"Great base for exploring the area"
DavidG1946, 19 Octobre 2018

Really liked the feel of this place from the welcome, the ambience and of course the cooked to order breakfast. Room was comfortable and clean with interesting old furniture which made a pleasant change from the usual standardised stuff. Would definitely return if we come back to BB.

"A great place to visit in Big Bear"
Melissafromvv, 14 Octobre 2018

I needed a night away with my daughter. This place is decorated so nice. It offers a breakfast (that I slept through) I believe every room has a fireplace, mine did. It was so very nice. I felt like it was much more expensive than I paid. In the room is coffee, and the dressers were very nice. We had the window open a little to enjoy the rain. I will definately stay here again. I enjoyed the location also.

"Excellent location -- tucked away, very quiet -- only 1.5 miles from downtown Big Bear"
Laurieface, 11 Octobre 2018

Love the ambiance of this kind of European chateau, nestled in the woods just off the main highway. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Breakfast is excellent. Walking distance to "Black Diamond," an excellent bar/dinner/lunch venue.

"Big Bear Lake...awesome hotel!"
Lisa W, 07 Octobre 2018

A friend and I decided to take a last minute trip to Big Bear. We had no idea where to stay. Luckily, we chose BW. We had a fabulous stay. Honestly...way above and beyond our expectations! Nice room, tasty breakfast, convient hotel! We will definitely stay here again!

"Beautiful, but couldn't sleep!"
karamichael1, 04 Octobre 2018

Beautifu l hotel, pleasant staff, however the rooms were too hot! The hotel had apparently switched from air conditioning to heat and there is NO way to control the temperature in the room other than opening the balcony door, which we weren't going to leave wide open for security, and had it locked at about a foot open. Couldn't sleep the first night, which ruined our weekend plans. Got a fan from the staff for the second night and did sleep then, but it was too little too late. Staff could have warned us about the lack of ac and offered a fan at check in, but did not. This hotel's HVAC is apparently incapable of offering guests the option to control the room to their comfort in spring and fall. Would not recommend, and will not return.

"comfortable"
georgia h, 17 Septembre 2018

older property, well maintained, very good staff, excellent location..I asked the staff about the air freshener odor which is heavy and they said that it is 'probably everywhere'..breakfast is a nice plus, there is an outdoor pool and free bottled water..

"Great place to stay in Big Bear"
stargazrgirl, 08 Septembre 2018

Great hotel in a central location. Very clean and I loved the old world charm. Great amenities (pool, game room, exercise room, breakfast included). I would stay here again and highly recommend. Great value!

"Grand Old Hotel"
mraeoneill, 08 Septembre 2018

When we arrived we were greeted by the friendly front desk staff. We arrived early and our room was ready. Quite comfortable and adequate. Enjoyed our time in the bar with Aaron, the BEST! Beautiful ceiling in the bar/dining room. Enjoyed the old world charm and sitting on our balcony, enjoying the quiet. Breakfast was adequate, with more than enough selections. If you like brass ,glass and green, don't stay here. It has great old world vibes. We will return. Thank you for a memorable stay.

"One night stay with our dog."
Parris, 02 Septembre 2018

We just spent one night at the Best Western. I'm kinda concerned that we got a bad rate for our room after seeing the prices on Tripadvisor and booking .com. I booked through the hotel directly and paid $250.00. Shop for a better price is my suggestion. We had a double room in the dog wing. The room was nice with 2 double beds. The room was very clean and the beds were comfortable. We had a fire place also but did not use it. The WiFi was spotty and worked off and on. The grounds are pretty and they have a nice pool and jacuzzi. We could walk a short distance with our GSD to a nearby forest area for him to relieve himself. They also have a grass area for this if you are traveling with smaller dogs. Our boy is spoiled by long walks so off we go. The included breakfast was good. You have a choice of many egg dishes plus make your own waffles, fruit, pastries, yougurts and drinks like coffee and juices. They have a large parking area and it's free. I would stay here again. The only downside was our neighbors dog barked when they left the room. Luckily we were not in our room much. The Resort is very clean and I liked the chateau style.

"Great location Value for Money"
Brook P, 28 Août 2018

Well located, staff were friendly, clean , yet the property is dated and could do with an upgrade. bed was comfortable, no fridge in the room which was disappointing in this day and age. Breakfast was included

"Fantastic hotel - horrible beds"
JoyeMike, 18 Août 2018

Fantastic staff, great breakfast, clean rooms, great location, but the beds are absolutely horrible. They are like sleeping on a board...way too hard. All three of us had sore backs, sore arms and simply did not sleep well. Our stay would have been a 10 out of 10 if the beds were decent! We have literally traveled all over the world and the beds at this hotel need to be addressed if you want return customers.

"Comfortable and atmospheric "
Mystic17, 07 Août 2018

Lovely clean atmospheric hotel. The corridors were very reminiscent of the hotel in the Shining (which we found scary and exciting!). We also heard strange noises through the interconnecting door from the unoccupied room next door! We obviously have crazy imaginations! Just added to our enjoyment of the hotel. Wouldn't be surprised to hear that this hotel is haunted. I slept with one eye open anyway! Loved the room balcony. Great breakfast - the two staff running the breakfast were amazing and deserve large payrises. It was busy with demanding customers (including me!) but they were fantastic! Main negative was the pool could do with a bit more attention (a clean and some towels) but I had a sense that the hotel was a little short staffed out of season. All the staff I encountered were superb! We loved Big Bear Lake and would stay here again.

"love this place! fun and unique property"
TerraTravels, 02 Août 2018

Kitschy, beautiful, silly -- I love this place and it's blast from the past 1980's-90's faux finishing - murals - chandeliers decor. Very comfortable rooms - many with little decks and fireplaces.Clean and a wonderful breakfast included.

"Nice, but...interested in you?"
washingtongeorge, 27 Juillet 2018

The hotel is located in a nice area, the rooms are clean...however a little old fashioned. Breakfast is, for a Best Western, outstanding! The servants during breakfast do a really good job...polite, quick and want the best for you. Well done!! The front desk workers are not the most kind and/ or really helpful people. They are more busy with themselves, they do just their job. However, you can choose this place and skip the front desk as soon as possible.

"One step up for BW hotels"
Dick S, 26 Juillet 2018

Physically, this beats other BW hotels. At the front desk, Sherri was the terrific. The King room with fire place was excellent. The complimentary breakfast was served and good choices. Unfortunately, the bar and restaurant is only open on weekends. One of two nearby restaurants was closed for the summer, so one needs transportation. This hotel is not "near the action".

"Great location"
Ian G, 26 Juillet 2018

Great location and fantastic hotel well wort a visit. Friendly helpful staff and very clean rooms. Hotel was maintained to a high standard and we will definitely be back again at sometime in the future.

"An amazing hotel with fantastic staff!"

From booking to checkout, this Best Western did not disappoint. It is a very unique hotel that complements your visit to Big Bear. The front-desk attendants were fantastic, especially "Vee Vee" (didn't ask for spelling). She had great tips for local dining and hiking that fit our specific needs. Breakfast was a mix of self-serve buffet and plated meals, an excellent combination. They have a game room downstairs and a gym with a freakin' Bowflex from the 1990's (Chuck Norris not included.). We slept well. Would stay again!

"A low end, disappointing experience."
cineart1970, 08 Juillet 2018

The Best Western Chateau is a low end, disappointing experience. I certainly wasn't expecting 4 or even 3 stars but this hotel is maybe a 2.5 at best. The desk staff are miserable and rude. Check in time is already ridiculous at 4:00PM and I was told both of the rooms that I booked were not ready. This is the second time this has happened to me here and I had unfortunately invited guests. We all had to wait around for an hour - no "I'm sorry" no " have a drink at the bar on us" just a base f-you, attitude from the desk staff. How charming. The hot tub is undersized for the hotel, dirty, and likely a great place to catch something. Our rooms, once ready, were worn and in desperate need of a remodel. Oh, but they have a free breakfast?? The cheapest, lowest quality food shoveled out to masses of people scrambling to squeeze some value out of their experience. Undercooked no less because they are under staffed. And if this wasn't enough, my credit card was overcharged for the stay for a "resort fee" not disclosed anywhere at the time of booking. This really is no place for any sort of memorable vacation unless you are a young group of kids looking to get trashed or an extended family of 8+ satisfied with the lowest end of hotel experiences for your money. You will be much happier getting a local Air B&B for your stay and avoiding this place. I've done that before and should have done that this time. This hotel should not be considered. Our stay was from 7/6 to 7/718

"excellent value"
Retiredlady46, 30 Juin 2018

This hotel was clean & beautifully decorated. The staff was nice. We had a room with a balcony which was nice to have a place to sit outside in the evenings. My ONLY complaints are.... our room wasn't ready even tho I had informed them when I made the reservation that we would be there between 3-4 & the breakfast (even tho you ordered when you went into the dining room) left something to be desired. My husbands omelet was overcooked and dry & he said the potatoes tasted like they had been sitting around for a while. I had oatmeal & i just ask for an order of bacon the 1st morning & it was good. Yes I would stay there again... it was a lovely place.

"Nice Hotel-Good Location- Would Stay Again"
FamHistory, 18 Juin 2018

The lobby is very elegant as is the room for breakfast. Our room was very clean and quiet, even though they allow dogs, (except when two dogs encountered each other in the lobby then the barking was unbelievably deafening) Dogs are only allowed on the first floor. Disappointed in our ‘view' on the second floor; overlooking a messy backyard of a house and that when you get off the elevator you still needed to go down 8 stairs. Breakfast was very good with a variety of hot cooked dishes including waffles and fresh fruit available among others usual items. The Hotel staff were efficient and helpful.

"Beautiful property!"
forjetskier2017, 29 Mai 2018

We stayed in a pet room, and it did have a funky odor. Also, air conditioner did not work, but window did open so all was good. Front desk was friendly and helpful. The room was very attractive, and nice big TV. Property was lovely, and free breakfast was great. Bar was cute and cozy. Lobby was really pretty, and Big Bear is always beautiful! Really enjoyed this Best Western hotel. One of the best we have ever stayed in!

"Best property ever!!!"

This hotel is just beautiful! It truly lives up to the photos on web. Lovely trees all around the pool and the entrance is very lovely. Staff are excellent. Breakfast eggs are made to order. Close to everything.Fireplace in room.

"Do not stay if allergic to animals"
477dp, 29 Mai 2018

Pet friendly is nice unless you are allergic to animals like I am... otherwise very nice property close to the resorts . The air conditioner is very strange but the staff was helpful and breakfast was awesome. but be careful if you have any allergies.

"Recommend this hotel, will be back :-)"

Great hotel. Lobby was pretty, nicely decorated. The breakfast had so many choices and varieties. Delicious food, best selections family was very impressed. Conveniently located for Spartan event. It was great!

"Quaint and Comfortable"
r0bertr0driguez, 21 Mai 2018

Hotel and staff were fantastic! The top Best Western I have stayed at by far. Perfect for families of all sizes or a couples getaway or even if you just want some time to relax and unwind. My favorite aspect of this hotel was the gas fireplace in my room. Loved it!

"Power Outage Trip"
richard31265, 13 Mai 2018

We were on a two day respite because SCE was shutting off our power for repairs so we packed our 2 doggies and headed for cooler weather. Had never been to Big Bear so this was a shot in the dark. If you need more characters, you can create them yourselves or accept my comments as your review.

"Clean, comfortable, free breakfast, "interesting" motif. Solid choice in Big Bear!"
everyshadeofblue, 12 Mai 2018

The Best Western Big Bear is a super clean, nicely maintained hotel that is close to the city center but not in the heart of it. Plenty of spacious, free parking. Check-in was easy and friendly. You can tell the owners care a lot about the hotel and seem to put a lot of effort into keeping it clean and ensuring their employees do a good job. Very friendly staff. The room I was in had a great gas fireplace that made for a cozy ambiance. There was also a small patio that was a nice touch. There is no fridge in the room and the ice machine on the first floor was broken but not a major inconvenience. The bed was fairly comfortable and the room itself was pretty spacious. The bathroom was large and had a fantastic shower head. The room and overall decor of the hotel is interesting to say the least. One part eccentric hotelier and another part grandma's estate sale is the best way to describe it. Not my taste but I'm sure it works for some folks. Simple and modern would be the best way to go in my opinion and this is the opposite of that. The free breakfast was nice and the service was fantastic. You order the hot food from your table. I was very impressed as this was one of the better free breakfasts I've had at a hotel. You can't go wrong staying here and I would stay again the next time I am up in Big Bear. While you can't walk to the downtown area from here, it's close enough that a short drive isn't too much of a hassle.

"Perfect Stay"
manuelaY1814UG, 11 Mai 2018

Throughly enjoyed our recent stay at the BW Big Bear Chateau. Check in is effortless and staff are very helpful and friendly. Our room was cozy comfy and spotless. Plenty of room with the king bed choice. A couple of chairs and table for reading and relaxing. In room coffee, nice tv fireplace and plenty of space for all your clothes and misc. items. Nicely appointed bathroom with a great spa tub. Free breakfast in the restaurant is a big plus. Hot egg dishes, waffles, pastry, fruit, cereal, coffee and juices to choose from. Restaurant staff are friendly and helpful. Checking out was as smooth as checking in. Have stayed here on numerous occasions and will continue to do so. It's a great place to stay.

"Boutique Chateau beside the Mountain-Top Lake"
juanjuanl2017, 30 Avril 2018

This was another exciting weekend getaway with my husband. Basically, I enjoyed the stay at this hotel, especially its location, situated in a small woods but just two-minute drive from the shore of the Big Bear Lake and the village. I also love its decor of the exterior and indoors, which does look like a 18th or 19th-century European castle. Most of the staff are friendly and helpful, and they recognized my elite member status. The room rate was also reasonable, only a few more than a hundred bucks. However, I wasn't able to enjoy late check-out even if the hotel was almost empty on my check-out day, which was below my expectation. Furthermore, there was too much and loud noise at noon around my room, to which I think the management should've done something about.

"Cold stay in luxurious surroundings"
Tripdogg, 29 Avril 2018

The breakfast was the best I had for a long time! Excellent buffet and eggs made to order! Very luxurious surroundings, must have been because of this 'in-between' season here. The mountain area is beautiful, the drive up here and the drive out to LA was very scenic. Unfortunately it was only a 1-night stayover on our way to LA. It was april and they'd had some warm spring weather here. But still some snow against the mountains, freezing at night. For two beds there was only one extra blanket, which I could not find during the night because it was tightly rolled up and looked to me like a pillow (in darkness). We had an uncomfortable night, slept with our socks on.

"A Nice Place to Stay in Big Bear!"
Timothy P, 19 Avril 2018

It is a Great Place to stay in Big Bear. The rooms are comfy, and the included breakfast was wonderful. All the usual breakfast items, plus eggs and meat cooked to order!! The gym was full of everything you can imagine! Cute gas fireplaces, for those cold nights!

"Treasure in Big Bear"
Constance K, 13 Avril 2018

This hotel was a true joy to stay in. The breakfast was amazing, all the usual breakfast items along with omelets cooked to order and served to your table. We had a room with a fireplace , it was a very cozy room that had everything you needed. We were really impressed with the friendly staff and the cleanliness of the entire hotel . The location is perfect, very quiet and tucked in the pine trees. We are already looking for a time when we can get back for another stay.

"NO LATE CHECKOUT!"
John S, 12 Avril 2018

Comfy bed, clean room. Only complaint is that we wanted an extra hour to checkout and they would not grant it. Breakfast was delicious and the breakfast staff very accommodating. Hotel is nestled away from the village so it was quiet which we loved

"The best hotel in Bid bear!"
jaylee1332, 04 Avril 2018

It was the first time booking a room in Big Bear. It was a pleasant surprise! Besides being a convenient location to everything, the hotel was clean and comfortable. Complementary breakfast which is great with made to order eggs, bacon, sausage and even eggs Benedict was provided, and the staffs were very friendly. I will definitely recommend this hotel to my friends for their future Big Bear visits.

"Anniversary"
hankyprincess, 04 Avril 2018

The staff was so friendly and the room was beautiful and loved having the balcony. The free breakfast was better than any where else I have stayed. I also like the fresh fruit & flavored water they have in the lobby every afternoon. We stay hear for our anniversary every year.

"Needs major updating"
dinatone3, 30 Mars 2018

The best thing about this hotel is the breakfast. It saves major dollars by having a nice breakfast each morning for free. There are plenty of options and a small menu for hot items. However, the hotel is so very outdated. Limited availability of outlets in the room. If you need more than one or maybe two, don't bother. The TV juts out into the living room off of the wall and hangs there. You can easily hit your head. If you lightly touch it, it disconnects and you have to trouble shoot the cords to figure out what is loose. The staff were good and the cleanliness was fine.

Very nice property. Fireplace in room was great. Balcony where we saw ducks each morning and a tree squirrel. Cook to order breakfast was great. Staff super friendly. Motel is older but remodeled. Would stay here again.

"Loved it!"
beckylala420, 13 Mars 2018

Definitely enjoyed our stay here in Big Bear. Breakfast was amazing and the room was clean and neat. I definitely think we will be staying here every year that we are in Big Bear. I highly recommend staying here!

"Overnight Winter Getaway"
shanna661, 12 Février 2018

Decided to try and get some winter in living in So Cal! Stayed the night here and was nice hotel with comfortable bed. Close to Bear Mountain and the zoo. 3 restaurants in walking distance and a liquor store and Walgreens. About 5-10 minute drive to snow summit and 10 to the village. Breakfast looked good and is included but we chose to eat out. Room a little older with view of Sanford and Sons backyard. But comfortable bed and clean. Would stay again.

"Very French, Comfortable, Spacious Room & Bathroom & Great Location"
RURuNYC, 30 Janvier 2018

Like the Hotel name "Chateau," the hotel exterior and interior are very French. The hall ways are full of beautiful paintings, there is French decorations everywhere in the hotel. The Location is great, it is very close to the ski resorts, snow tube parks, and the Big Bear Lake. The room is comfortable and spacious. The one thing I was did not like about the hotel is that our room was between the Lobby floor and 2nd floor, which the elevator does not get to my floor. I had large luggage and small bags and I had to take the elevator to the 2nd floor and take stairs down to my floor. It is just not easy for someone with little kid + large luggage and small bags. Everything else, I am very happy staying at the hotel.

"A fantastic place to stay and relax in Big Bear Lake!"
readfly, 23 Janvier 2018

I was passing through on my way home and booked the Best Western after reading the profile on the BW website and thought the pictures were wonderful. The hotel did not disappoint. Upon arrival you are blown away by the size of the hotel and ample parking, very nicely done with trees all around. You actually feel like you are parking in the forest. The hotel makes a wonderful impression, and upon entering the beautiful spacious lobby, you know that this is going to be a nice place. Check-in was a breeze and the staff member was polite and professional. All staff I interacted with were also very welcoming and polite. 5 stars for customer service. I liked the small things like unlimited herbal teas/coffee at the front desk, and I chose the hotel because I just wanted to relax. I'm pleased to say that I was able to do that, and I made full use of the hotel facilities, including the fitness center, games room and outdoor jacuzzi hot tub. It really is something amazing to be out in the fresh cold December air, breathing in the smell of pine trees while sitting in steaming bubbly water! I was invited to review the hotel after my stay and gave them 5 stars. My room was wonderful, with lots of space, a clean bathroom, and I highly recommend a room with a balcony and fireplace. The lack of a fridge in rooms was surprising, but not an issue in the winter at all. The downstairs breakfast area was really nice. There is a strict policy if you lose your breakfast ticket, so be careful of that, but not only was the area spacious and clean, there is a waiter service for egg dishes, and all the usual breakfast items you would expect. The only missing items were things to put on the eggs, for example, sauces/salsas or chives - something to give them a little kick, and I did pass my opinion to the management in the check-out survey. If you use the fitness center you will find it satisfactory and a great way to relax. I highly recommend the jacuzzi and to make use of the games room. I personally think that the games room needs more decoration and color, or pictures on the walls, but this does not detract at all from a wonderful atmosphere in the hotel, and the commitment of staff to make sure that your stay exceeds your expectations. I had a wonderful time and would urge readers to consider the Best Western as their first option when visiting Big Bear Lake! P.S If you order packages to be sent to the hotel, it looks like that they sometimes arrive a day after you might expect them to. The local USPS seems to keep packages for a while before taking them up to the hotel. Should the hotel not have your package when expected, it's easy to pop down to the USPS and collect it yourself.

"Great price"
Steve T, 22 Janvier 2018

Our stay at Big Bear was great. The BW was clean and the room was okay. The included breakfast was an added pleasure and tasted better than I expected. The rate for the room was well under the other hotels. Also great location near the Ski Resorts.

"A GEM IN THE WOODS"
M N, 18 Janvier 2018

This is by far the best Best Western that my husband and I have ever stayed in. You are right off the highway yet the way the rooms are set up you do not hear the little traffic that uses the road at night. It is within walking distance to a Walgreens and is only a short distance from downtown Big Bear. The hotel is well kept up, clean rooms which are nicely decorated, free in room internet, and a free breakfast that is not your normal breakfast. You have your choice of hot or cold main dishes, fruit along with all the normal breakfast treats. The hot items are brought to your table by the staff which are very friendly and always welling to help. The on site restaurant is only open on certain days so if you are planning to utilize this feature make sure that it is open. If you're looking for a quite stay with friendly and accommodating staff, then pick the Best Western Big Bear Chateau.

"Great... but had Safety Issue"
JHQ I, 22 Décembre 2017

We were relaxing after a day out when someone with a functional key to our room tried to enter our room, but the secondary lock kept them out. The front desk agent gave them our room key AND directed them to our room. The front desk agent tried blaming the bellman and acted like it was no big deal. We understand mistakes happen, but that is not an acceptable attitude of the front desk agent to have. Violating the safety and personal space of a guest is a serious matter.

"Pleasure trip"
M128ZNgregj, 21 Décembre 2017

My husband wanted to go skiing and we have stayed at this hotel before so we booked a night. We love this hotel. Everyone is so nice and the room is excellent. The bed is very comfortable. The hotel is located in a perfect place. Close to everything.

"Marijuana, police arrest bums at Best Western"
davidaF1918TR, 18 Décembre 2017

Big Bear are seems to be in decline. Drug use, vagrancy common. Marijuana smoke permeated hotel lobby to the the second floor. Once in the room we opened the balcony sliding door and cleared the area. Kids asked if that was the smell of pot? Hotel staff seemed oblivious to the odor. Found it funny the room had a warning of $250 fine for smoking. Next morning observed local police arresting bum for sleeping in the lobby.

"Wonderful Hotel"
854yesseniaa, 11 Décembre 2017

Everyone is so nice and helpful that works at this hotel. Breakfast is great and the restaurant has a wide variety of options to choose from. I did enjoy the live music on Saturday night. The maid service does a wonderful job keeping up the hotel all in all. This hotel is a great place to stay whether your stay is for business or leisurely.

"Still our favorite place to stay in this region"
DavidLou, 03 Décembre 2017

Our second review, this property is still superb in every way. The breakfast is among the best, and the staff are friendly and helpful. Dinner is served in the bar on some weekend evenings, so check that out too!

"Great for a short trip"
ambero51, 27 Novembre 2017

We wanted an overnight trip to Big Bear without stressing out over booking a hug cabin for one night and where to place our dog. This hotel accommodated our 2 kids and lab nicely. The pet friendly level was a little noisy but it was to be expected with other dogs. The room was nice, the gym was okay, my husband enjoyed the bar and Saturday night live music and the entire family was very happy with the free breakfast.

"The place to stay for Big Bear Lake"
rosalvar886, 27 Novembre 2017

We loved staying here. It was relaxing, great guest services, and breakfast. We read the reviews before booking but our experience was even better in person. I highly recommended this hotel for a trip up to Big Bear Lake.

"Charming Historic Chateau in Moonridge"
Stensafriend, 24 Novembre 2017

Located in a setting of wooded seclusion the Chateau exudes an ambiance of warmth and charm. Rooms are decorated with period accoutrements and even antique furniture. Comfortable beds and cozy fireplaces. Minutes from the center of town and less than a mile from Bear Mountain Ski Resort. It's our go-to place to stay in Big Bear.

"Quick get away"
Larry J, 16 Novembre 2017

Last minute trip up to the mountains for a Jeep ride the following day. Just happen to come across this best western hotel and we were happily surprised to see how nice if was for the reasonable nightly rate. Nice rooms, Clean and a nice breakfast in the morning. Will stay there again.

"Pet-friendly/EV-friendly"

"Very good hotel for the price"
kristinat321, 13 Novembre 2017

Overall, our stay at the hotel was very good and for roughly $260 for two nights including breakfast I think it was a very good deal for the location and amenities of the hotel. Staff in general could be a little friendlier, breakfast is good, but it would be easier to include bacon, eggs and potatoes buffet style than trying to do it as "cook-to-order" since the "helpers" with breakfast, while mostly very nice, are not regular wait staff and seem to be overwhelmed with the task of taking orders and delivering the food (I waited about a half hour on bacon and potatoes). Plumbing seems to be a little old and our room had a view of another wall of the building about 8 feet from our window, but most rooms have better views and some even have balconies. Again, overall it was a very good hotel and excellent for the price and location. I would definitely recommend it to friends or stay there again myself.

"Ok place"
trentgb, 12 Novembre 2017

Nice location. Good service. Place could use a facelift but good value for the rate. Breakfast was fast and easy, nice selection of eggs, waffles, breads and fruits. I would stay again if they had new mattresses and some soundproofing. My wife kept saying the wall sounded like it had a waterfall in it.

"It really does have "Chateau" antique furniture"
J b, 08 Novembre 2017

The Big Bear Chateau does have a "Chateau" look inside. We loved the fine collection of antique furniture in the lobby, halls, and in our room was a wonderful antique mirrored armoir. In the halls there are prints and maybe some real oil paintings of European scenes. Has a hot tub, pool, nice breakfast with eggs benedict. Very good price also. The staff at the front desk and in the dining area were very nice. We will likely go back again.

"Nice but noisy"
Shonahut, 31 Octobre 2017

Nice looking hotel with alot of character, but boy is it noisy. Lying in bed you can hear people bathing, showering and flushing their toilets. I thought we had an elephant living above us as we could hear every step they made. The "made to order breakfasts" are great if you like your food cold, but there is plenty of cereal/oatmeal, waffles, toast etc that you can help yourself to so you won't starve. On the plus side, the weather was great and it was a cute little town to visit. It is also about a 30 minute walk to the Village where many restaurants/bars are located - if you like to walk then this is a perfect location...

"Perfect for a Spartan Race"
TazoG, 30 Octobre 2017

We stayed here for the spartan race at Snow Summit. The location was perfect we could just walk to snow summit or take a shuttle from the brownie parking lot. It has all the amenities breakfast was decent, the bar lounge had live music on Saturday night.

"Very good Big Bear Hotel"
mickmankowski, 28 Octobre 2017

The Chateau is our favorite Big Bear Hotel. We have stayed there several times, and never have been disappointed. Their breakfast is excellent included in the price. We highly recommend this hotel and location.

"Disappointing Anniversary & Birthday Stay"
CacheOn, 22 Octobre 2017

I waited a month to write this review to see if I would feel any differently about my stay and I don't. This was one of the poorest experiences I have had staying in a hotel, which is especially sad since I am a loyal Best Western platinum customer and chose to stay here for my milestone birthday and anniversary. The issues are far too numerous to list here but let's start with saying that I had requested by phone and on my online reservation to have a quiet room, mentioning that it was a special occasion. We were placed in what has to be the noisiest, worse room in the hotel. The door was located at the bottom of nine stairs, which other customers just bumped their luggage down (bump, bump, bump ...). The hotel staff assisting one lady dropped all her luggage and it crashed at the bottom of the stairs in front of my door creating quite the ruckus. When I opened the door, I was greeted by the staff member's rear. The poor customer is the one who uttered an apology. My room was also located almost directly across a stairwell and short hall leading up from the front desk. The stairwell carried all the noise from the front desk and lobby right up to my door. And the staff had a penchant for yelling to one another across the lobby and once even from the front desk up to the top of the stairwell by my door. Their voices echoed across the vast, tiled lobby. On my last full day, two housekeepers and one male staff member chatted with one another while cleaning kitty corner rooms, their chatter carrying all throughout the hallway before 10:00 a.m. -- not a care in the world about the "Do Not Disturb" signs on my and other's doors. The first day, I asked for two extra bath towels so we would have a total of four. Every day, the housekeeper took away four bath towels and left two. So every evening, upon returning to the hotel, I had to make a trip to the front desk to get two more towels. On one occasion, front desk staff was no where in sight and I found then sitting in the restaurant in a nice cushy chair watching TV. I about scared them half to death calling out "Excuse me. Excuse me." I have NEVER complained to a GM while onsite but felt compelled on day two. The GM was on vacation, so I dealt with the AGM. While she was a very sweet lady, after my enumerating the issues, particularly the noise, she never once offered to move me to a different room. So I asked, "What is your occupancy rate right now?" She said, "Very low." So I said, "Then why haven't you offered to move me to another room?" Her explanation was that she did not realize I had more nights left. She moved us to another room, upgraded the room, blocked out the rooms on either side ... I mean she tried. However my feeling is this ... why should a customer have to endure poor customer service and complain in order to get the excellent customer service they should have received from the get go? They shouldn't. This is a beautiful facility inside and out. It has much potential. But the focus is not on the customer. I would even say the staff is pretty clueless about what constitutes good customer service. I hope my complaints in person, on their hotel survey and now on Trip Advisor, will lead management to take a good look at service delivery and retrain the staff. I would not stay here again.

"Loved It!!!"
jayRN, 22 Octobre 2017

We stayed here during my husband's company trip and I was extremely impressed especially since I wasn't expecting much from a Best Western. The lobby is absolutely breathtaking with an elegant, old world charm. The furniture in the rooms is very vintage and antique looking and each room has a gas fireplace which we loved being able to leave on all night! I was concerned with the fact that you can't control your own room temp (its controlled by the hotel), but for us it wasn't a problem at all. The continental breakfast in the morning was nice-there is even a limited menu you can order off of, however it was quite crowded and seating was limited. We will definitely stay here again!

"Old World Charm"
janmZ5056VH, 17 Octobre 2017

Mediterranean styled hotel very elegant with a hint of a bygone era. Rooms were nice wit fireplaces. Outstanding breakfast area, either serve your self style breakfast or order from a menu which was also part of the free breakfast. Extremely clean rooms and all other public areas. Very charming.

"Do not stay here"
Allison S, 16 Octobre 2017

We called the hotel directly to book. We booked 2 rooms for weekend and were given specific rates etc... The day before our arrival the hotel called and said 1 of the rooms we wanted (suit) is not in working order and that we would have to switch to a regualr room. We said no problem. But then the lady said she wanted to Charge us the day before we even arrived for both rooms and taxes etc... I told her I didn't mind if they put a pre auth on my card but I have never been charged for multiple rooms prior to arrival. She said she understood. The next day we arrived and checked in. At check in she said we had to stay in the suit because that's how we booked it or she could move us to another room and charge us the same price... We didn't understand that at all and told her the original suite was fine. She told me all of the rooms had working fireplaces, Jacuzzi tubs and balconies/patios. So after about 20 min on trying to find how the hell you got to the suite we were there. And let me tell you it's not worth the $$$. If you have seem the shining then you can imagine this s*** hole hotel. It smells worse than brothel and you can't find anything anywhere. That night we called into the front desk to have someone come fix our fireplace and Jacuzzi (both not working) and we were told that they knew that those items were not working but there was no maintenance workers on the weekends. Ooh and the original reason they said they switched our rooms out of this room was because of those very reasons. So no fireplace and no jaccuzi we decide well let's try our luck on room service and guess What? The restaurant closes at 9. And there is not anything to order or get anywhere in the entire crap hotel. I'm sorry I just can't help myself. I'll tell you what though the only thing good about this "revamped motel 6" is the front lady with the English accent, the bartender who poured great drinks and the fact you can check Out! 1 out of 10 for this crap they called 4 stars. Not sure who gave it 4 stars but they obviously live in a trailer behind a motel 6 at the border of Tijuana.

"Very nice hotel and quiet location"
Peahead59, 16 Octobre 2017

We had a very nice stay at the Best Western. We had a king size bedroom with fireplace and balcony. Breakfast in the morning is not made to order as their brochure states, however, they have a small menu the included Eggs Benedict, Omelets with meat and vegetable options all served with sausage.bacon and home fries. Very good breakfast. The bar/lounge is nice with a very personable manager and good music in the evenings. Place is well maintained and clean. Staff is welcoming and helpful. It's not a 4 or 5 star hotel, but for the area, it was an absolutely great choice and would recommend this hotel.

"Wonderful Place to relax"
493jeannec, 06 Octobre 2017

Spent two days at Big Bear Best Western Chalet, a comfortable bed, great TV service. Wifi available. Breakfast prepared for you, good too. Lots of interesting sights to visit, several great restaurants too. Good place to bring families and just get away for a delightful mini vacation.

"Big Bear Anniversary"
barden_nick, 05 Octobre 2017

Beautiful lobby, fireplaces are a nice touch. The room temperature control is poor, and controlled by the owner. Pillows are lumpy, and very dated furniture throughout the bedroom. The whirlpool tub was also a nice touch but the drain plug they have is ineffective

"Good Location, Very Clean Excellent Service, No Climate Control"
Mary B, 04 Octobre 2017

I grew up in Big Bear. So I can say, with authority, this hotel is TYPICAL Big Bear. There are really nice people working there. It's sparkling clean. There is a great pub-like bar off the lobby that has a decent wine list, good food, and a comfortable atmosphere. Next door is another fun bar, a small grocery that will rip you off like crazy (5 bucks for some frosted animal cookies - typical Big Bear), and a Circle K a bit farther on. The property is very pretty and fairly close to the ski slopes in Moonridge. Now for the bad. The climate control is typical Big Bear. If you are hot, open the damned window! Unfortunately, the little window stopper thing they give you for security isn't all that reassuring. I guess the hotel turns on the heat for everyone at night, and hopefully, you will be comfortable with that. We did have a gas fireplace, so had it gotten cold, we could have used that. No in-room safe, no refrigerator. Free cooked breakfast - ack - dry potatoes, you get the idea. I'd stick with the waffles you can make for yourself and the rest of the well-stocked breakfast bar. The beds are also as soft as planks. So you have your good and you have your bad. The prices are fair. I'll give it a 3 star rating. If they get refrigerators, safes, and in-room climate control, I'll give them a 5 even with the plank beds.

"Awesome Place to stay!!"
Keith L, 03 Octobre 2017

We had a wonderful time staying at this hotel!! The hotel itself was very cozy inside and well decorated. Very nice hotel and friendly staff!! I would definitely recommend this place for a great stay!!

"A getaway to relax"
Helen B, 29 Septembre 2017

Was the best two day vacation in a Long time. The Hotel was just great and the breakfast was outstanding. Very friendly nd helpful staff. There is a lot to do in Big Bear shopping, hiking and many other things

"Nice place"
L3584XFdavidm, 25 Septembre 2017

Professional staff, good breakfast, when they say cook to order breakfast you get it. Older but nice rooms. The hotel was kept very clean We will stay here again.. The location in big bear was ideal, easy to get around town.

"Elegant appointments in this hotel."
srffdad, 22 Septembre 2017

We were quite surprised by the interior furniture and the made to order breakfast served. The room had beautifully crafted cabinets instead of the typical conventional closets in most hotels. Everything here was a pleasant surprise.

"This Best Western could be better"
A4221YHmaryh, 18 Septembre 2017

We have found Best Western hotels usually dependable for a comfortable bed and good restaurants. The one in Big Bear Lake, CA have neglected to check their beds for comfort and noisiness. Also the balcony screen door was off its track and the wardrobe door squeaked every time it was opened or closed - the wardrobe was too shallow to accommodate the hangars.

"Great Hotel and Ammenities"
stevenbL9795KI, 12 Septembre 2017

Our motorcycle group comes here every year. They do a great job in accommodating our group. The hotel has a wonderful pool area in the pine tree forest with plenty of tables and chairs for a large group to enjoy. The Breakfast is continental but also has a made to order breakfast option. Great bar area as well. There are also several restaurants within walking distance. Beds are comfortable and rooms have whatever you need. If they don't, just ask and they will bring it to you! We will continue to come here every year.

"Always come back"
B3496XGericb, 11 Septembre 2017

Great place to stay, clean, comfortable, bar and restaurant and a nice breakfast. Good location and ample parking. Nice neighborhood close but not to close to downtown. We stay here every year and often more than one time.

"Very Impressive Chateau, but Hidden Resort Fee added"
Joy O, 07 Septembre 2017

Very nice property, quite elegant and impressive building. It could almost be in Las Vegas! Marble columns, very ornate in a French Chateau style. Very Elegant. Breakfast was home cooked and delicious. Property clean and very tidy. Unfortunately the bar / restaurant was closed during our stay. Only issue as a 'hidden resort Fee' added upon check-out.

"Dissatisfied"
115jic, 05 Septembre 2017

Would not recommend. Room odor was so terrible. Also requested for 1st floor and front desk person didn't even check and said no. Very disappointed. Bed springs were bad and old. It was very uncomfortable.

"Not a good experience overall."
JMALAZAB, 05 Septembre 2017

The staff was nice, but not knowledgeable. I called for help with the air conditioner and asked if I could control the temperature and her response was "I think you should be able to... that sounds right... maybe" and I figured out on my own that you can't. You have to crank it to 80 degrees to turn it on and if you move it at all it will shut off. The towels are really scratchy and hard. it actually hurt to dry yourself off. The bed is firmer than I'm used to so I had a hard time sleeping and woke up with back pain every morning. I would prefer a softer bed, but some people like it firm so it might not be a problem for others. The pool was small and looked really gross. Having a pool was one of the reasons I chose to book here, and we didn't even get to go in it because it was so dirty and the water was really cloudy. Maybe they use different chemicals or something because I've never seen a pool look like that and I stay in hotels often. I called 3 times during my stay to request that someone clean it. On our 3rd day there we finally saw someone cleaning, we came to check it out after he was done and it looked even dirtier than before! So we gave up on it. I'm not sure who was in the room above us but they were really loud and obnoxious. It sounded like horses galloping or people running and stomping non stop. I waited hours before calling the front desk to complain about it and I'm not sure if they even spoke to anyone or did anything because the noise continued until really late night. The best part about our stay was the breakfast. The food was pretty good and the service was excellent. Overall, we did not have the best experience here. I probably would not book here again, next time I will use airbnb.

better than expected ~ clean polite beautiful ~ asked them to bring a few items to the room ~ they were there very quickly ~ pool was heated and very clean ! ~ the hotel was also very quiet ~ i will come back again to this beautiful chateau

"Labor Day Weekend"
860pamelal, 04 Septembre 2017

This is a beautiful place. Very lovely décor, nestled among the pine trees, quiet even though near a busy street. Lots to do in town, shopping, sporting activities, fishing, boating, etc. Breakfast is very lovely and way too much to choose from. Restaurant menu is limited, but the food is good. I recommend the Margarita pizza. Drinks are priced reasonably. All in all a great place to kick back and enjoy.

"The Chateau"
Peter H, 29 Août 2017

Amazing place in Big Bear , Calif . Wonderful setting and most unusual property for a Best Western. Greek design illustrated perfectly. Only problem , lack of transparency. A resort fee comes as a surprise upon check out, so call ahead and find out how much. I personally don't stay in resort fee hotels. I stay in 200 hotels a year and resort fees are a ridiculous. My estimate prior to arrival did not have a resort fee listed.

"I wanted to like this hotel"
Lisa H, 27 Août 2017

This is a pretty hotel in a great location. The rooms were clean and staff was generally friendly. But there are tip jars and envelopes everywhere with little signs alerting guests to there presence. And we were charged with a resort fee when we checked out that was not disclosed upfront. Also, the breakfast menu came with a notice not to ask for any substitutions or variance as everything was prepackaged (this was for the omelettes).

"Short Getaway"

Great vacation. Will try for next year or sooner. Nice place to stay. Close to everything. Enjoyed being near the Marina the zoo village shopping and just being in fresh air and blue sky's . Look forward to next time.

"Our Annual Go-To hotel in Big Bear"
MsMgmt, 17 Août 2017

We stay here annually when we pick up our son from easterseals Camp. It's conveniently located, not far from restaurants and Big bear village. It's a pet friendly hotel and for the past couple of years we've been bringing our dog, a 38 lb. puggle. We had a comfortable king size bed and the room was clean and comfortable. It's a bit pricey but there is a high demand for rooms this particular weekend due to an annual car show. The front desk people are nice and helpful. They include a breakfast with your stay but we didn't have time to enjoy it this year. I've already made my reservation for next year!

"One of Our Favorite Hotels"
two4theroad_7, 16 Août 2017

Some say the chateau is a bit much for Big Bear Lake, but we think the European motif fits in perfectly with any ski resort. Starting with the basics, this hotel is clean and well run. The staff is friendly and helpful none better in the industry. Unlike most BW hotels a menu is provided for your free breakfast and cooked to your order. Additionally, fresh fruit is always available at the door. On the weekends, the hotel bar and restaurant is opened for dinner . The city often has special event .weekends. A renaissance faire and an antique car show was on hand during our stay. If you love golf like we do a 9 hole course is five minutes away. Fishing, boating, a refuge zoo, theater and mini golf is all here. One of the best kept secrets is the Big Bear City airport restaurant. Enjoy an excellent dinner with live music. The place is small and fills up quickly, so make reservations to be safe. Their open for breakfast lunch and dinner.

"Very Dated"
SCOTT M, 14 Août 2017

I checked in on line the day before. When I arrived my room was not ready for two more hours. When I got into my room (stairs only) I returned back to the desk and requested a new room. I was very unhappy until Todd took over and got me a new room. Overall just a creepy hotel.

"Getaway"

"Reservation mistake!!!"
victorbB1742UB, 12 Août 2017

I make a 2 night reservation thru best werstern central reservations but they only booked me for 1 night, i found out the next day in the afternoon as we returned to our room to find all of our personal items missing!!!!!! It was compleatly empty, this was at 4 pm.... I was told by hotel staff that they removed our stuff since we only had a 1 night reservation,, I explained i told the best western phone operator to book 2 nights,, apearatly they onle did it for 1 night,, both the owner/manager and the hotel receptionist were not apologetic ,, althoug they gave us another room their attitude towards the incident could have been better, the bellhop was more aplogetic than them!!! In the end the receptionist called us to aplogize and gave us a 30 usd discount for our room,, wich i thought was very little considering what happened,,

"Unique hotel"
Vegas7122001, 09 Août 2017

The most impressive pool I've seen. The property is situated in a gorgeous Pinetree lined area. The pool looks like you're swimming in a forest somewhere. The hotel has a unique French château decor. It looks like you're stepping into a castle. The breakfast each morning was wonderful and delicious and there was spacious dining. No need to fight for a table or seats! My family and I truly enjoyed our stay. My only criticism is the recreational area. When we went down to play ping-pong…the basement area where the rec room was located was dirty and it look like they hadn't cleaned the area in sometime. Everything else was up to standard.

"Fun weekend"
770marjanehm, 07 Août 2017

We went up in Big Bear for a weekend last week. We enjoyed our stay and the people made it more enjoyable by giving us good service. Convenient location and close to the village and the lake. Didn't imagine we could do so much from helicopter ride to jet ski and a nice couple hours on the boat and having lunch on top of the Snow summit. Will sure plan another get away during winter.

"surprised!"
F4578JBmaryc, 07 Août 2017

Not all BW hotels are the same; was surprised that this one had a pool and spa on lower level. Did not read this when I registered online. Would have brought my bathing suit. This one felt like a B&B with fireplace.

"Very Nice Hotel"
clandkammer, 03 Août 2017

Very clean, pet friendly hotel with free breakfast, very clean rooms, and great service. Very attractive from outside, tucked away in the woods. This is one of Big Bear's great values when compared to all the other hotels that are available.

"Big Bear Chateau"
M.E. G, 25 Juillet 2017

Very nice hotel, unique architecture and interior areas, a good deal for the money. Plenty of parking, free breakfast, WiFi. Large outdoor swimming pool, with lots of fenced open area around it. Has a separate Jacuzzi, outdoors, also fenced. Many rooms have a fireplace. Some rooms available for visitors with pet dogs.

"Fun time in the So Cal Mountains"
Teresabj, 24 Juillet 2017

We were pleasantly surprised by our stay at this property. It was a treat. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great. Hotel was beautiful. Centrally located to Big Bear fun. Will stay here again.

"Basement Pet rooms are not great"
michaellE2832AN, 23 Juillet 2017

The pet room area is dark (in the basement), smells of cleaning solutions and one guest apparently left her little pups alone to yelp for hours. The ventilation is intensely loud. We had stayed here before, with our large golden, in a 2nd floor room and it was a good experience. We won't be staying here again though

"Great place to stay"
billyb2020, 21 Juillet 2017

Went here for a weekend stay and the place was very nice. Great location and they seem to really take care of the Hotel. Breakfast was really good. and Free which is nice. Well done. On the negative, our room was located at back near some noisy machine in back and walls are somewhat thin. We were on first floor and the guests above us were pretty noisy with their footsteps. I also hated the pillows. Really small and flat. I like fuller, more luxurious pillows. They give you a lot of pillows but they're all really small. Please invest in nicer pillows. Bed was fairly comfortable. Overall, rooms were very clean and I'd still stay here again but I'd probably bring my own pillows.

"Good value hotel & lodging"
MssrParis, 19 Juillet 2017

Well maintained overall with breakfast options included. The only concern during the summer is the air conditioning. It is centrally controlled and is an issue if you prefer to control your room temperature for your comfort. The room will be too warm during hot days and evenings. The rooms facing the pool and pine trees are recommended for quiet-comfort and view.

"Great value"
Priscilla G, 18 Juillet 2017

Antique filled, remodeled comfortable hotel. Full breakfast included. Great friendly staff. The only problem, on a hot evenings the AC doesn't work properly. With the windows opened the room cools but then, there's road noise.

"Very clean"
A109DWalejandrar, 18 Juillet 2017

This was my first time staying at the Best Western Big Bear Chateau. The hotel & the room were very clean, which is a huge plus for me. The staff was professional. The stay included breakfast, which was good. I would recommend and stay at this hotel/location again.

"Wonderful stay"
Carol S, 17 Juillet 2017

Have stayed here many times and my experience is always excellent. Will continue to stay here when I visit Big Bear.. Staff always very cheerful and helpful.. I stayed here over a weekend and they where very busy but the level of customer service remained the same high quality. .The location is so peaceful, even though it is located on a large road. . Surrounded by pine trees, you get a true mountain experience. The breakfast is the best I have had while staying at a Best Western as quite a few items are cooked to order.. Hope to be back soon.

"noisy"
B5616XPritah, 17 Juillet 2017

paper thin walls, single pane windows. The toilet made noises and didn't properly flush even after I called the maintenance person. The air condition was extremely loud and you could hear other rooms next door when they had there ac on. Breakfast in the morning was omelettes that the cook pre-made, so that were delivered cold to the table. Bacon was hard as a rock and this was on both days for breakfast.

"Good find"
T-Bone0030, 13 Juillet 2017

About 200 yards off the main street and you'd think you were in a pine forest. I've stayed at many B.W places some some B.W +. This place should rank BW+. The grounds are opulent and the building has a French flair about it. The rooms are standard fair, clean and bright. There's a decent pool, jacuzzi, gym with a dozen or so pieces in it and a game room. They take dogs so you see people walking their pets. The breakfast was by far the best B.W we've had. You sit down and get table service for your custom cooked eggs, bacon etc. and they come up in about 2 minutes. The rest is serve yourself for things like toast, waffles , muffins and just about anything you can think of. For sure we'd stay there again. Just a side note on how Big Bear is in the summer as this is the second summer in a row where they tear up the roads to bury cables. 2 lane roads are down to one lane, traffic lights have lollipop guys, detour signs galore and road closed sign galore. Just getting out of Big bear was a major hassle as my GPS trying to correct our exit just ran into closed roads. We ended up going in circles and my GPS must have given up as it had us headed back to the hotel. After turning around and facing more closed streets I pulled over and asked a couple of construction guys how to get out of town. Except for the traffic nightmare it was a great stay.

"Wedding in the woods"
eddydctx, 10 Juillet 2017

We were in Big Bear for the weekend for a wedding in the woods and several other couples were bringing their dogs along, so we brought ours. This hotel had 8 rooms that were available for pets ($40 fee), so we chose it. It was nice and clean and the breakfast was good but not always ready at 6:30 AM as advertised. The weather was warm and the A/C was not a typical thermostat, but was either on of off. Sometimes the room would be too cold, other times too warm.

"Big Bear Chateau"
112lillians, 09 Juillet 2017

Very nice place to stay, but unfortunately we had a bad experience with the hotel guests next to us with loud noises and banging all night. The Breakfast is terrible...will have to go out and find a restaurant, unless you just want yogurt and fruit.

"4th of July Vacation"
LorrieLarryM, 06 Juillet 2017

We would highly recommend this hotel. Staff were great and the breakfast was very good. The bed was excellent! The only drawback is that you cannot see the hotel signage from the road so you really have to look for the address. We drove by it on our first attempt to find this hotel.

"Good Overall Value!"
Ed979, 05 Juillet 2017

This was really a nice supervise. I do not remember ever staying at a Best Western but probably will again after our experience in Big Bear. My wife, 3 year old daughter and I only stayed for one night but it was a good night. Our room had a balcony with a nice view of the pool and tall trees with a nice pine smell. The balconies were not sp private as they we only separated by a railing. It was fine as we did not see anyone from the room next to us. The beds were comfortable and breakfast was quite good with a small selection from a menu and a buffet to complete the meal. It was included with the room.

"Nice hotel"
Amrita A, 04 Juillet 2017

"Resort not a "hotel""
Bruce K, 03 Juillet 2017

From the location (off the main strip) to the beautiful lobby, the tall pine tree parking, the art work, the spectacular pool area and the overall coziness, this was a great stay! We will definitely be returning.

"General review"
W6847NAfelipec, 01 Juillet 2017

The exterior and interior were well kept. The staff were very polite and helpful. The only concern, a minor one, is that there was no refrigerator in the room. The room at BW executive inn which we stayed in at Richmond VA was less expensive and had a refrigerator.

"Excellent"
karime18, 26 Juin 2017

All services from reception to accommodations to rooms and breakfast were top of the line. This location is one of the best experiences that I ever had. Cleanliness of rooms and the lobby with the breakfast area were awesome.

"Cozy Hotel"
LdyGem, 19 Juin 2017

we love this little hotel tucked away in Big Bear. It;s close to town for shopping and dining and the lake for hiking and boating. The place is clean and the staff is very nice and helpful. Breakfast is included off a menu or help yourself items.

"Bad Timing"
Dan C, 19 Juin 2017

We've stayed here numerous times in the past and every time has been excellent! Our luck changed this time. After a day out on the trails, we return to the hotel tired and dirty to find the water line had broke, or something of that nature. No water! Couldn't take a shower, or clean up. The next morning it was supposedly repaired but my shower was cold and FAST! Now, I realize things happen, and things break. It was just our luck that it happened while we were there. The staff was genuinely apologetic and caring. We WILL stay there again!

"A motel trying to be a hotel."
Mike H, 17 Juin 2017

This is a long read- be forewarned. A very nice appearing property for a budget/mid-level price, BUT: The elevator goes to the 2nd floor to only meeting rooms and a couple of guest rooms. The remaining 30+ 2nd floor guest rooms are half a flight of stairs down from the elevator landing. To get back to the lobby you have to either go down a full flight of stairs or up half a flight to the elevator landing. If you have a lot of luggage there are luggage carts, but these are usable for the 1st floor only. The web site states porterage is available. Our room key cards didn't work, having been improperly coded. After schlepping our luggage to our up-the-elevator-down-the-stairs room, we had to go back down to the front desk to get properly coded cards. Once finally in the room, the antique dresser balked repeatedly at us trying to open the drawers, and the 7' high clothes bar in the antique armoire was nearly out of the reach of my 5' 5" wife standing upon her tippy-toes. We both love antiques, but this was ridiculous. The room has a nice little balcony overlooking the pool and a nice grass area adjoining the forest- complete with cottontail rabbits and grey squirrels on the grass and a Mallard drake that lands in the pool each evening. There's a couple of "very inexpensive" plastic chairs on the balcony deck, but no table. So if (like us) you like to sit out there in the late afternoon/early evening with an adult beverage and a brick of Havarti cheese the only place you're going to be able to put your cheese board and slicer is on the deck. Same with anything you bring with you, whether its Ritz crackers and Cheese Whiz or open face gourmet sandwiches. It had been a long day, having to escape from our house in the flatlands that was being tented for termites. My wife had been looking forward all day to a long soak in the whirlpool tub. Buuut, by the time there was about 6" of water in the tub, it was lukewarm with the valve at "hot". When the water was just above the jets, it was cold. No whirlpool for her. I checked the water in the lavatory basin, also cold. This was around 7 to 7:30 PM. We waited for about half an hour, I took a shower thinking maybe the hot water would build up again. Wrong. Cold shower. Called front desk around 8 to 8:30 PM, a guy came up and checked it, said building maintenance people were gone, would we like another room? It was late and we were already unpacked for a 2 night stay, and there was no guarantee that this wasn't a system-wide problem so we said we'll stay here. The front desk gave us key card for the room across the hall so that we could use that rooms shower in the morning. No whirlpool tub in that room though, but it was an accommodation for the inconvenience. We were told a service request would be entered for our room. Second day, the hot water in the lavatory basin was marginal in the room in the morning. We stopped by at the front desk to make sure the service request had been entered; it hadn't been. No record of the issue. After breakfast, the maintenance guys showed up, checked the hot water and proclaimed a "new cartridge" was needed. I told them both the tub and the lavatory basin were affected. Late afternoon that day after returning to the room after a long day of being touristas in the Holcombe Valley Gold Tour (off-road, dusty and hot) the water was hot in the shower, but after two showers the hot water was cooling off. No whirlpool tub for my wife- again. We decided "why bother now with the front desk." The next morning after our showers and before checking out I checked the water in the lavatory basin, on full hot- barely lukewarm. Upon checking out I relayed all of this to the counter person- to the credit of Best Western, she offered us a whopping amount of Best Western bonus points (we're been BW Rewards members for awhile), and while this is not quite the same as some sort of cash rebate, it's indicative of her desire to try to make it good. Overall, this is a nice property in a very good mountain resort area, but it falls short in architectural functional design (functionally obsolete) and mechanical maintenance. The daytime staff are personable, professional and helpful, but the maintenance staff needs more training in diagnostics in commercial mechanical plants. The night staff- ability and professionalism good, personality=Lurch from the Addams Family.

"Disappointing View"
V8009EBwilliams, 13 Juin 2017

The hotel is gorgeous as we saw all the first visit, this visit was disappointing because of the view we saw from our room this time.Could not believe they had a view as such, after seeing how nice the hotel is.

"Hotel's Nightclub Noise Ruins Sleep"
367daler, 12 Juin 2017

My family and I were trying to get to sleep, but the Best Western Chateau has a Tavern/Nightclub attached to the hotel and the club's doors were wide open into the lobby, allowing loud music and cigarette smoke to come into the hotel. I went to ask the Staff lady on duty Saturday Night at approximately 9:30 p.m. (no nametag and she didn't give her name) was extremely discourteous, flippant and sarcastic when I complained the noise from the nightclub was too loud and why she couldn't at least close the doors that were wide open into the lobby area. Instead, the Staff lady sarcastically stated "What, don't you like music?!!". She also said the nightclub had the right to be as loud as they wanted and they would be open until around 1:00 a.m.. She could not have cared less about the guests trying to have some quiet enjoyment and go to sleep. Her final word on the matter was to tell me to leave and go rent a cabin in the woods.... I don't know if I will rent a cabin in the woods next time, but I certainly won't be at the Best Western Chateau in Big Bear, California again, which is a shame because otherwise the Hotel was great, great location, and the morning staff really nice with a very complimentary breakfast in the morning.

"Great place"
Vw4kat, 12 Juin 2017

This BW was a great surprise, I booked it due to a wedding that we were attending across town. The place is beautiful, our room even had a fireplace. They have a lounge with awesome musuc. If we go up the mountain again we will stay here.

"Need to control the temperature in my room"
48MB1, 10 Juin 2017

This hotel is lovely on the outside and in the lobby area. Dark in the hallways to get to the rooms. Room was clean and bed was comfortable. But I did not like the fact that I could not control the temperature in the room. Service had to come and light the pilot on the fireplace twice. When it went out again, didn't bother to call. Maintenance service was very good. Don't like the idea that a fridge is not already in the room. Need to ask for one if you want it. The breakfast was very good. A special menu ( eggs made to order) besides the continental breakfast was available. Front desk and restaurant servers were friendly and helpful.

"Chateau Big Bear"
Zane J, 09 Juin 2017

In the past I have alway rated the Big Bear Lake Chateau as one of my favorite Best Western Hotels in California. Unfortunately, my last trip was below my expectations. The TV did not work, the noise level from an ice machine was very, very loud, water was running in the pipes all night long, the bathtub did not drain, and more.

"Relaxing Mountain Getaway"
Timothy C, 07 Juin 2017

My husband and I needed to get away, we had a nice relaxing stay. This place is in among the tall pine trees. When you walk out and smell the fresh air, it is so calming. Breakfast is nice, you go in and take a seat, they come to you, you place your order for breakfast and they bring it to you. All you have to do is get your coffee and juice. They have toast, cereal, waffles, fruit and oatmeal that you can get for yourself as well.

"Good Stay"
robertcC2331ZN, 05 Juin 2017

The hotel is clean and well maintained. The rooms where clean and the beds a bit small. The complementary breakfast and service was good. Noise in the early morning was unpleasant. The parking lot was easily accessible and safe.

"Great Pricing for Midweek Stays"
Joshua B, 04 Juin 2017

I checked into this hotel on Wednesday for a one night stay with two friends. The staff was friendly, the room was clean and neat. It was a non-smoking room with two double beds. There were no tobacco odors or other foul odors inside our room or the hotel. Our stay included a complimentary breakfast voucher worth $10 per guest. The complimentary breakfast was surprisingly good, and it was a good value considering the one night hotel stay in the middle of the week was very reasonably priced at $96+taxes (via hotels.com). The total price of the hotel after taxes and fees was $121. The hotel is close to a local shopping center and gas stations. The purpose of our stay was adequate lodging for a 3-day motorcycle trip around Southern California. I would highly recommend this hotel because it was clean, staff was friendly, complimentary breakfast was good, and it was overall a great value.

"Hotel review"
suesW3053SL, 02 Juin 2017

Watch out for no mention of the resort fee until check out. Otherwise all was excellent. Great breakfast, clean rooms, courteous staff, lots of amenities included i.e. outdoor pool, jacuzzi, ping pong, pool table, in room refrigerator, microwave, fan, gas fireplace, etc.

"Excellent Overnight Stay"
edwinsK2594JB, 01 Juin 2017

Highly recommend this place of lodging in the Big Bear area. Excellent hotel staff and service. Room very clean and comfortable. Excellent breakfast choice and service included. Not just continental breakfast either.

"Wonderful visit!"
SharonOregon, 27 Mai 2017

The setting was great! Fairly close to town. This Best Western had THE BEST breakfast we have ever had at a hotel!! Penny at the front desk was great. We extended to 5 days because we were enjoying this place so much.

"Very pleasant stay"
Robert W, 26 Mai 2017

The Best Western Big Bear Chateau is located away from the main street nestled in a tree surrounded parking lot, looks welcoming on arrival. The check-in was quick, the staff friendly, our room on the ground floor was spacious and quiet. Breakfast was included, eggs, bacon, sausage and potatoes cooked to order plus the usual Best Western Waffles. We had an incident at midnight with the toilet blocking, a quick call to the front desk and the problem was quickly remedied - thanks maintenance guy. Check out was equally quick, thanks to Best Western Big Bear for a most enjoyable stay.

"best and rest"
debbiedL5739CN, 23 Mai 2017

the most beautiful hotel I've seen and the best rest I've had in a very long time. clean, quiet, beautiful surroundings made the stay even that much more enjoyable. pine groves added to the serenity and beauty with a well manicured grounds,

"What a Gem!"
mickmankowski, 22 Mai 2017

Big Bear Chateau is a real surprise. The staff was great, the room was very good, and the included breakfast was better than you could have bought for $20 a person, cooked to order! First time at a Best Western, and look forward to going back.

"AMAZING STAY!"
952daniellei, 17 Mai 2017

Love this hotel. It was our first time staying here and my boyfriend and I were in awe with this hotel. Everything was perfect. We look forward to staying here more often. The staff was very helpful with any questions we had. The breakfast was amazing along with the breakfast staff. It was a gorgeous hotel. We loved our room.

"Big Bear stay"
gregwlewis, 16 Mai 2017

The staff was completely accommodating the the room was great and the breakfast was good and the price was right. We had no issues with the hotel everything worked including the Jacuzzi tub and the fireplace.

"Dogs are welcome"
Barbara R, 16 Mai 2017

Hotel room was small and dated. However, our large golden retriever was very welcome. The area to take him to do his business was clean and large enough. I would have welcomed direct room access. But it was relatively convenient anyway. The bed and pillows are hard. So, it was difficult to get a good nights sleep. The breakfast was not good at all. If you need to stay at a place for only one night, this hotel is doable. I would look elsewhere if you need a longer stay.

"Close to Skiing, Good Breakfast, Decent Rooms, Nice Staff"
PlayitaTravel, 08 Mai 2017

My husband and I and our two children came here in February so that we could ski for 3 days. We found this to be a very good hotel. It was very close to the ski resort and an easy walk and drive to restaurants. The staff was very nice and friendly. We arrived in the late morning and they were kind enough to let us have an early check in. I know that is not always possible but I appreciate them accommodating us. The room is nothing fancy but it was clean. The walls are thin and you can hear the people next to you. There are a lot of children so there is a lot of slamming of doors and it is not a quiet hotel. The free breakfast in the morning was very good. There was plenty of variety and we could always find something to eat before we went skiing in the morning. The room got a little hot and we could not change the temperature but we opened the window a little bit and that helped.

"EXCELLENT HOTEL"
heidit259, 08 Mai 2017

My Daughter had her wedding at this hotel, upon arrival we were pleasantly surprised by the accommodations. The outdoor wedding venue and the reception ballroom were beyond our expectations. Beautiful place for a wedding or a family vacation. Will definitely visit again!

"Bed is horrible"
Thomas L, 08 Mai 2017

Overall the hotel was nice, good location, off the main highway. The staff was not very friendly, would say hello only after you said it first. The room was okay, a bit dated and worn. The mattress was HORRIBLE!!! You would roll to the center it was so worn out.

"Rough towels!"
L9436DIkarenh, 07 Mai 2017

Staff would be wise to keep rowdy drunken, smokers away from the lobby entrance especially late at night. Bathroom was clean but towels were very rough and no decent hand soap just a "beauty bar" soap.

"My staying experience - just so so"
Kevin W, 07 Mai 2017

I arrived on Sunday and left on Tue. The jacuzzi was not working the whole time. It's a kind of disappointed because I expected to stay in jacuzzi to relax after a long day hiking. But the breakfast was good, the people were nice there and it's very quiet location .

"The place to stay"
Robert K, 23 Avril 2017

Without a doubt this is the best BW that we have stayed at of the 38 Hotels in the USA. It is the first time that we have been able to have a dinner at a BW and the breakfast which was freshly prepared was excellent.

"Nice pet friendly/needs improvement"
worldview2016, 10 Avril 2017

The pet friendly room was great and very comfortable for our dog. For the humans not as much. The bedding is old, tired and needs replacing. It was cold throughout the night and made sleeping impossible for me, so two nights without much sleep. They really need to work on the heating system. In the middle of the night the second night I got out the extra blanket, why didn't I do that the first night. It was new, clean and why you wouldn't put a nice blanket on the bed in the first place is just stupid? Wrapping up and old thin blanket between two old sheets, doesn't feel great. The staff is friendly, but they need more help. The poor guy making breakfast can hardly keep up and did a nice job. The bed was so hard that my whole body hurt for two days. I travel a lot, and I know that it isn't that expensive to keep bedding up to date, in fact hotels can do it very cheaply, so there really isn't an excuse for this. That is what people come to a hotel for, to sleep.

"BEST Best Western"
Vicki D, 09 Avril 2017

A really different hotel from the usual Best Western. restaurant and bar on site and a free breakfast included in price. Breakfast includes bacon and sausage and eggs made to order. Rooms are large and have fireplace. Antique furniture.

"Best Western Stay"
elizabethtC4962GI, 03 Avril 2017

My stay at the Best Western was very enjoyable. We were able to check-in early by the very friendly front desk staff. We stayed in a room that had a comfortable king size bed, Jacuzzi tub and a fireplace. Only issue was there was no plug for the Jacuzzi tub so we improvised with a rag... worked fine.

"All good, great position just one thing to fix"
enrico r, 02 Avril 2017

My family went there this weekend, great position and great value for money. only thing to fix is that they manage the heating and we were melting while sleeping!!! If we are back in big bear we will go back...breakfast is fine too included in the fare!

"Big Bear"
jacobmalish, 20 Mars 2017

I stayed here on a snowboarding trip with my son. We really enoyed our stay. The room was a good size, we has a fireplace in our room and everything was clean and tidy. I loved the classic decor throughout the hotel too. Breakfast also exceeded my expectations. Beside the usual continental breakfast, they had eggs, potatoes, sausage etc... Overall great deal. We will be staying here again on our next trip.

"Comfortable stay"
karfer, 25 Novembre 2016

We had an enjoyable one-night stay. Our room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The staff was very friendly. The hotel is close to everything in the Big Bear Lake area. My family and I enjoyed the made-to-order hot breakfast.

"Pleasant stay, good break fast, helpful staff"
910akshays, 21 Novembre 2016

Pleasant stay, good break fast, helpful staff. I do have to mention that the room 116 where we stayed could feel the noise from upstairs room and the people walking down the stairs that were adjacent to this room.

"Great hotel in Big Bear but pillows are hard!"
DavidLou, 18 Novembre 2016

We were surprised to see a few negative reviews on this property, as it is very nice and clean with a huge breakfast included. The staff were quite friendly and helpful, and the gas fireplace in the room is a romantic touch. The bed was very comfy but the pillows were all too thick. We know thick pillows look nice and last longer, but please, please include a couple of softer pillows for travelers who wish to sleep looking upward rather than at their toes.

"Love this place!"
Mia C, 15 Novembre 2016

It's a lovely hotel. We have stayed there twice with our little pug. Love the amenities they have for dogs. Love the gas fireplace in our room. The room is small, but it worked just fine for our short stay. It's conveniently located in town. We stayed at a little cabin a few years ago and it was AWFUL in terms of comfort. Horrible bed, tiny little place. For the money, we just prefer the amenities of a Best Western. We love the Chateau for our annual trek up to Big Bear!

"Fantastic Hotel"
FamHistory, 13 Novembre 2016

Beautiful Hotel! The staff was very friendly and helpful upon our check-in. We had a very nice room with a balcony overlooking the pool and forest of trees. Be aware the 2nd floor does have some stairs to reach it. Our room was very clean and had a jetted tub and electric fireplace. The included breakfast was very nice with certain menu items that were cooked to order, for example Omelettes. And also waffle maker and fresh fruit. I might mention we complained of smelling cigarettes. The management sent someone up immediately to freshen our room. They informed us later they had discovered who was smoking in their room and removed them from the hotel. I would highly recommend staying in this hotel and we will be back!

"Beautiful Hotel..."
grslove, 03 Novembre 2016

I stayed here last weekend. What a lovely hotel. Breakfast was included which I love when I stay at a hotel. The staff ws so friendly and helpful. I absolutely will come back again. My family members also stayed and liked the restaurant and bar with a happy hour, Thank You!

"GREAT PLACE TO STAY"
Simone W, 27 Octobre 2016

When I go to Big Bear it's all about hiking and being outdoors in nature. Staying at Best Western is PERFECT because it is in a GREAT location, has the BEST BREAKFAST included and ALLOWS PETS for a reasonable pet fee. The staff is pleasant and rooms and hotel itself is very clean. Can't ask for anything else but to have fun in BEAUTIFUL BIG BEAR.

"Very Friendly Staff"
Cecilia G, 19 Octobre 2016

Very Nice Hotel only Negative is full size beds. Breakfast was good had a waffle maker, Oat Meal, fruit etc. Great location only about a mile and a half from The Village. I did see a shuttle although we had our own car.

"Easy and comfortable stay."
aimeecer, 17 Octobre 2016

Great weekend stay. Love the chateau décor. Room was cozy with a sliding doors for some fresh air. Fitness center wasn't that great, so week took a morning stroll after a yummy breakfast. Only con was the air was centrally controlled so we could make the room cooler. Glad a cool breeze was coming in. All staff was pleasant and friendly.

"BEST WESTERN, BIG BEAR, CA"
Pamela S, 17 Octobre 2016

The staff is OUTSTANDING, but the food menu & quality need overhauling. The facility was clean & neat but could use some updating. I would recommend this hotel with a few reservations...The staff really made our visit worthwhile and enjoyable.

"Great value"
Rhonda F, 16 Octobre 2016

this Best Western looks very modern on the outside but, inside i think it was an old hotel which they took over. it is very clean and the staff is overly helpful. There is the typical easy access in to the lobby. If you have problems with stairs be sure to ask for a 1st floor room. there is an elevator to the 2nd floor but, you still have to navigate 1/2 flight of stairs to get to room. The Air Conditioner/Heater is a central system you will not have any control in the room, strangely there is a thermostat which does nothing. we had to ask for a fan to make the room comfortable. after looking at different hotels I feel this was a good value because it included breakfast which was very good. all restaurants in town are a bit pricey, so this evened out. Yes I would stay here again

"Very depress enviroment"
Victor M, 16 Octobre 2016

Pictures online does not show what exactly is the hotel. Dark rooms. Very small rooms. I will not recommend this hotel. Very expensive for what ii is. Poor customer service. The location is not bad. In the future I will consider other hotel maybe a little bit more expensive.

"Great Place and Location"
Donald P, 15 Octobre 2016

Was really surprised at all of the amenities and comfort this hotel has to offer. It was a pleasure staying here and will return. The breakfast was extraordinary and the variety of breakfast items available was great. Had the Eggs Benedict and it was good. The room was a nice size with king bed and fireplace which added a nice ambiance to the decor of the room. I recommend this hotel to everyone. Nice get away in the mountains.

"Great Deal"
Dennis T, 15 Octobre 2016

We love this hotel . . . it is set in the wood not far from the town center and within walking distance of one of the best steak house. They actually have a menu for breakfast and it is all included in your room cost. Staff are really friendly and helpful.

"Top notch hotel for the region"
Elmer W, 12 Octobre 2016

Room was ready on time and very clean. Had fireplace, coffee maker and bottled water. Nicely furnished and quiet. They also have pet friendly rooms available. Worked out in the gym and had a great breakfast included in the price. Friendly and helpful staff.

"Best Harley stop of our trip"
rtjim65, 11 Octobre 2016

Our Harley group travels the country every year, and this year we stayed at the BW Big Bear Chateau. We could not be happier, everyone from the staff went out of their way to make our stay amazing! Our every need was taken care of. The breakfast in the morning was like no other continental breakfast we've had. Great Job by all!

"Cozy Getaway"
LdyGem, 11 Octobre 2016

We love this hotel tucked into the trees in Big Bear. It's minutes to the village for shopping and some great restaurants, then just minutes to the walking trails and Discovery Center by the lake. There are also some 4 star places to eat a two minute walk from the hotel. It's a gem, I almost hate t share it as I'm afraid I won't be able to get a room !

"Clean, plesant hotel"
Jeff L, 09 Octobre 2016

Nice rooms, nice staff, good location and very good price. Good hot made to order breakfast included in the price. Off main highway for a quiet stay but only minutes away from skiing and the lake. our room hade a fireplace and a whirlpool tub

"Best find for dog friendly in a pinch"
saltlifechaps, 05 Octobre 2016

My family informed me of their impromptu trip to Big Bear & I needed a dog friendly place nearby. When I arrived, there were two doggie bowls by the fireplace, yes fireplace. The breakfast, included, was made to order. The staff was very hospitable and accommodating. The hotel itself was very charming. It welcomes business conferences & outdoor weddings. There's a pool & jacuzzi. Three miles from the main Big Bear Village.

"Value for money"
Mark R, 03 Octobre 2016

Great hotel offering excellent value for money. Comfortable rooms with coffee machine and complimentary water. Breakfast was good with a limited complimentary selection of cooked food. Staff were accommodating and fixed the issue with shower very quickly.

"1970's Decor mixed with Carpet Deodorizer"
Richard E, 03 Octobre 2016

The experience from my stay at this hotel has tarnished my view of Best Western as a brand. I say this because I cannot believe that Best Western Management would allow a franchisee to operate in the manner this franchisee/hotel operates. • After driving four hours I arrived at the BW in Big Bear. I tried to check-in at 3:20PM and was told that check-in is at 4:00PM. I came back at 4:00 and was told that I could check in however, my room wasn't ready and wouldn't be ready for another 20 minutes. I asked for a room that was ready and was told that the hotel was completely full and that I would just need to wait. • Room 018 - The room décor looked to be from the 1970's or early 1980's in fact, the entire hotel needs upgrading & updating especially for the price charged. • The room smelled like solvent mixed with carpet deodorizer – very unpleasant. I was told that the hotel was sold out and couldn't change rooms. Because I was already charged for the room I had no choice but to stay at this BW and in this room. • The small beds were extremely uncomfortable – This along with the smell made for a sleepless night. • Upon checking out nobody asked me how my stay was – I think they already knew.

"Not impressed. At all."
Esther M, 30 Septembre 2016

Not sure how this Best Western got such great reviews. Granted it's a Best Western, so not expecting a 4 or 5 star hotel, but there are nice Best Westerns out there, this just isn't one of them. I called two days before arriving for my husbands birthday weekend to make sure we got a nice, quiet room. Nope. Instead we got a super noisy room overlooking the road. Tried to move and they didn't have anything else available. Needless to say we were NOT happy. The walls are thin and could hear our neighbors TV through the wall. Room wasn't throughly clean. They left their cleaning rag in the bathroom and previous guest's qtips in the garbage.

"Best in Big Bear"
two4theroad_7, 30 Septembre 2016

Been going to Big Bear Lake since 1969. It's been our family place to unwind. If you like to fish the city stocks the lake more than once a year. Boating, golfing bowling movies and zoo along with skiing and other winter sports in the winter. The hotel has a Roman motif and converted to a Best Western in the past 10 years. Prices per room are very good during the off season. You will find one of the best free breakfast in the Best Western chain. The hotel provides a list of breakfast items and a cook, fresh fruit the usual waffles, cereals and breads. The room was clean and the staff was helpful and very friendly. If you want a refrigerator and or a microwave you must request it. You can do that upon check-in.

"A wonderful experience"
Zvi Z, 29 Septembre 2016

We stayed at BW for a couple of nights. Our stay was great. The hotel appeared to have been recently renovated. We haven't used any of the amenities except for breakfast which was served in a dinning room. Eggs cooked to order selected from a menu and plenty of self serve continental breakfast items to choose from. The room was spacious, the only drawback might be lack of temp control (set and controlled by the hotel). Our room had a gas fireplace and a balcony. The staff was friendly and informative. Shopping is a walking distance. Overall experience was great. Short driving to many restaurants and shopping areas. We won't hesitate to stay there again.

"Quaint Cozy Place"
Sue Aka Sam C, 27 Septembre 2016

Best western does it again. Great safe place to stay. Breakfast options were good, staff excellent. I would recommend this place for an overnight as well as a long stay. Great location and easy to access.

"Mid-week"
Dale B, 24 Septembre 2016

Excellent stay mid-week, they had a chef that made any egg dish you would like not just make your own waffle, our room had a balcony which we sat out and enjoyed the wind blowing making the trees sway, had a gas fireplace also and lots of stuff to doin town

"Big Bear stay"
Ruben O, 23 Septembre 2016

Clean comfortable hotel. Nice staff, good breakfast. Everything was in good working order. A refrigerator in the room would have been nice, and a microwave. We were there in the summer, but I imagine it would be a great place in the winter too.

"cannot beat this Hotel"
edward w, 22 Septembre 2016

the best place to be for the family, along or with friends for good treatment and hospitality services. a very nice hotel in the mountains. breakfast and hosts are fantastic make your reservations early in the winter for great rates become a best western elite member and enjoy the perts

"Great for a getaway"
Emanuel P, 21 Septembre 2016

The location was great the overall look and feel was awesome. We were greeted by Penny who was very sweet and pleasant to talk to, She really makes you feel welcomed. We were not able to check in early but not from a lack of her trying, the rooms were just not ready at the moment. The room was very clean but our room felt really humid and our AC did not work well. It mostly blew room temp air even when set at a cooler temp. We were provided a fan which helped a bit. When I tried to access the balcony the spring door was stuck and was not able to step outside. There is a gas fireplace inside the room but when i flipped the switch it did not turn on (which was not a big deal since it was humid inside). There is a gym and a game room downstairs which were super clean and easy to access. The pool area was very well kept. Over all my wife and I had a pleasant experience and would definitely stay here again.

"Pleasant stay"
167christinek, 19 Septembre 2016

Stayed here twice this summer. 1st time: 4th of July- 2nd time Labor Day. It is a typical Best Western, with complimentary breakfast & free wifi. There is no thing special about this one, except it's expensive and I did take in consideration of time & place. Amenities: swimming pool, small gym, game room: pool table, air hockey & ping pong table. Most of the time they can't even find balls, pucks, sticks ....so game room is useless. Wifi was touchy so have patience. It's about 5 minutes from the main road, hence quiet & peaceful, less traffic. Most importantly clean rooms & comfortable beds. Those were reasons we came back the 2nd time. Check in & out was fast. If you have special needs, don't bother to put your requests in when make reservations. They don't look at that, just ask for it in person. Even though old, facility is clean & attractive inside & out. I'm torn between a 3 or 4 stars, but will give 4 because we value cleanliness most & they certainly have that.

"Super service "
rnflyer, 17 Septembre 2016

Getting into town after a 12 hour day of traveling so I was super tired. So thankful for the super friendly staff here! I was checked in, extra blankets, wine opened and having a fresh Cobb salad within 20 minutes! Even though the bar restaurant was about to close the friendliest staff opened my wine gave me the proper glass for my Cab, apologized for that the Cobb salad would take a minute since they were grilling chicken fresh .... Wow so appreciate that after days of traveling. Not a word about bringing my own wine, he just simply opened it for me and served. Looking forward to Octoberfest!!

"Ok hotell"
tingman1, 15 Septembre 2016

This is an ok hotel. The rooms and big and clean. You have a fireplace in the room as well. The breakfast was good. You have some shops and restaurants in walking distance. The check in and out was very smooth.

"Big Bear Lake"
W1909FUjohnm, 14 Septembre 2016

This is one of the nicest BW's we have stayed in, friendly staff, well maintained and clean. Convenient to the Village and restaurants. Breakfast is very good offering the usual fare plus a cook to prepare eggs to your liking alone with bacon and sausage.

"Great place for motorcyclists"
James C, 13 Septembre 2016

We had a large, comfortable room on the ground floor. We took off our panniers and handed them over the balcony rail. They allow you ro park your bike up front under the entry portico, which is very convenient and secure. And they include a decent hot breakfast. We will be back!

"Relaxing Stay"
Cherie' M, 12 Septembre 2016

We made reservations a month in advanced and while waiting for our trip we read on a review that some rooms have whirlpool baths and balconies. I wrote to hotel to ask if we could request a room with these options. Hotel reaponded right away, and as the whirlpool tubs were already reserved they were able to give us a balcony, which was with pool aand a beautiful view of trees ( only complaint the pool gate slams shut, but guest quickly learned to close carefully and quietly)We arrived at night and our check in was quick, breakfast vouchers given for next mornings.( if staying more nights you have to pick up vouchers everyday) If on the second floor you will still have to carry your luggage down a small set of stairs,if on the east side, to get to your room even with elevator.. Our room was clean, air controlled by hotel ( for us temperature comfortable, extra blanket in closet. bring pillow if you want softer pillow, for me too puffy for sleeping on ( due to altitude temperpedic pillow, will compress to firm, lol) Beds comfortable. Fireplace was a nice touch, we had take out and for ambiance, we ate in front of fire. ( we weren't used to seeing pilot light on, hold light switch button switch until fire starts. ( there were no instructions, but we figured it out) for nd out you need to request if you want a refrigerator, we used ice from ice machines. Coffe and tea available in room and in lobby. Breakfast had made to order eggs, choice if bacon or sausage, and potatoes. Then they had fresh fruit, great oatmeal, waffle maker, cereal, yogurt, juice, coffee, tea, milk. This was a great breakfast for our day of hiking. Breakfast staff very freindly and helpful... my eggs were cooked over-medium the way i like them and wasn't more then five minutes eventhough they were busy. Check in and out was quick, and staff were there to help with any questions. The Support staff on property (maid, maintenance grounds) were friendly and always welcoming with hellos good morning/evening. On day we slept in late and thought we wouldn't get maid service that day (which we were fine with) but during the time we were in and out they came in a cleaned/made beds ,trash ,towels etc. they were magical. So bottom line this place was nice, clean, safe no over the top thrill ( if you need fantsy) but good location for us and we will be back. Oh make sure you look at art on wall.

"Absolutely Charming"
Lee A, 11 Septembre 2016

The Chateau is a beautiful property. The décor was French and the room was sparkling clean. Our room had a gas fireplace. There was a complimentary hot breakfast ( we had eggs benedict) and a cold buffet as well. The service was excellent. I would stay there again and recommend it anytime.

"Great Dog Friendly Hotel"
Janet O, 08 Septembre 2016

This hotel is I a great location to Canyon Beach. It provides nice rooms with comfortable beds and great views of the ocean. We also love that it is dog friendly and the rooms are high quality. We have stayed twice at this hotel and had great service and rooms both times.

"Convenient and Affordable"
Earl G, 06 Septembre 2016

The hotel is very convenient to Big Bear resort, Starbucks and the grocery store. There is a Walgreens in walking distance too. You receive breakfast every morning. I totally recommend this place if you have kids.

"Hotel in the pines trees"
U5820RPjosec, 02 Septembre 2016

Best looking Hotel that have I ever stayed, of all the Best Western so far, Hotel sits between pine trees, awesome site when you wake up. interior is just beautiful, from the breakfast room, to the hotel rooms. Bring your camera for this hotel

"mid-august trip for mountain biking at snow summit"
450grip, 22 Août 2016

visited mid-august on a last minute trip to snow summit for mountain biking. the good: -very fair price using my AAA discount -the hotel is about 3/4 mile from the snow summit mountain. perfect location for easy access. -the hotel had no issues with wheeling bikes through the lobby to get them to the room for safe keeping. -complimentary breakfast was very convenient and tasty enough. -plenty of free parking the not-so-good: -the rooms don't have thermostats that allow you to control room temp. not good. the room was stuffy. i opened the sliding glass door for some circulation, and the giant portable AC unit that the hotel pipes in is right outside. VERY NOISY! that alone, is enough to keep me from ever staying here again. -the hallway and rooms have a heavy pine sol type smell that is very strong, and even my surgically altered snout that doesn't smell much was sensitive to the strong scent.

"A Great Place"
carriem514, 22 Août 2016

We've stayed at many Best Westerns and always find them very nice and comfortable. Well this Best Western was one of the best. The appearance of the outside of the hotel is beautiful. Then you walk into this fancy and beautiful lobby. If you didn't know the name of the hotel would might think you were at the Hilton or Marriott. The bed was very comfortable and the room was very clean, and we loved that we could order a hot breakfast..

"Nice but noisy"
phoenixtourist, 22 Août 2016

Very nice facility. Hotel decor and furnishings way extraordinary. Beautiful grounds. Very good breakfast offerings. Lots of amenities. BUT our room was very noisy which made a decent nights sleep impossible. The plumbing in the hotel varies from sounding like a fire hose going on and off to cascading waterfalls. These sounds happened most of the night. In addition the recurrent footfalls throughout the night sounded like some 300 pound persons marching around. The marching was punctuated with intermittent sudden thuds. The footfall problem was with us from 2:00 to 4:30 AM for out two night stay. The plumbing problem, too, although that also occurred during the day. We could not tell for sure what rooms the noise was coming from so we were frustrated from taking action. All of the good points of the stay reduced our rating to to average

"Nice place, unattractive rooms"
Lee R, 19 Août 2016

Pool and outdoors were very nice, whirlpool not so much so (too much chlorine). Outdoors trees and entrance were lovely. Rooms and lobby spacious but rather unattractive and really garish lighting in room. Breakfast was quite surprisingly good and better than most hotels with an included breakfast including eggs etc. prepared to order, waffles to make yourself and nice fruit etc. Staff friendly and agreeable. Room was delightfully quiet and ark for sleep. Fitness room small but actually had a Leg Press which I need to use.

"Not your average Best Western "
pooh44136, 19 Août 2016

Beautiful hotel. So much more than a typical Best Western. Located close to that village and ski resort. Comes with a full cooked breakfast. Not a continental breakfast. The location is beautiful. I definitely recommend it

"BW Big Bear Chateau"

We have stayed at Best Western Big Bear Chateau a couple of times now and it is always a very nice stay!! The hotel is in a lovely setting. The lounge is a fun place to hang out. The breakfast is always very good!

"Short fishing trip"
Jack G, 13 Août 2016

Took my son on a fishing trip to Big Bear Lake. We stayed at the Best Western Big Bear Chateau for one might in prep for our fishing trip the next morning. The hotel is really very nice, very attractive. The room was very roomy and pleasantly appointed, and clean. Will definitely stay there again. Breakfast in the morning was very good. Nothing too fancy, but very good. Eggs were made to order. Also, my son said the eggs Benedict very really good, better than expected.

"We enjoyed our stay."
Bruce C, 12 Août 2016

Good value with complimentary breakfast. Relaxed atomosphere. Family friendly. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Enjoyed the live entertainment in the lounge Saturday night. Wish the restaurant/lounge was open for dinner during the week.

"Ok stay"
Lifeisonetrip, 11 Août 2016

Have stayed in the Big Bear area several times previously, first time at this Best Western. The location is ok, a little off the main road and there was a lot of road construction there, which made for a lot of traffic. The hotel will not check in before the 4:00 p.m. check-in time. When I made the reservation, I asked for an early check-in and quiet room on an upper floor. I received a room on the first floor with a view of the alley where the air conditioner unit is housed. Very noisy. Also, I heard a dog barking in a room near mine. That does not constitute a quiet room in my book. The breakfast was ok, however, the bacon was chewy, the potatoes cold and not edible. Eggs ok. Service was good. I was slightly disappointed and since this was a birthday trip especially.

"To the mountains for change of scenery!"
LoriscinMB, 10 Août 2016

Immaculate hotel room with big screen tv in walking distance to several restaurants and stores. Good breakfast included. Family and dog friendly. Nice staff. Good value for the price paid. Pool, jacuzzi, game room and exercise facility on site. We would stay there again if going to the area

"Absolutely charming! Good service, lovely hotel, good breakfast"
Janet W, 09 Août 2016

This hotel is far superior to most Best Westerns. It's lovely, clean, great setting in the mountains. We both could order our breakfast cooked to our specification which was delicious. The hotel is quiet and the service is fantastic!

"Great Location, Quiet Room"
Terri W, 08 Août 2016

My husband and I had a very nice one night stay in Big Bear. The staff was friendly, room was immaculate and for breakfast eaters they offered a full hot breakfast. I really wanted a good night sleep and was pleasantly surprised at how quiet the room was. I left very early for the Tour de Big Bear ride so I didn't take time to have breakfast (to which the price was included) but the dining room was very nice for a budget style hotel. For the price of our stay this was a very good value and I would recommend this hotel in the Big Bear Area.

"Great Trip!"
Calimomof2, 07 Août 2016

One of the reasons we booked this place was because it included a free cook to order breakfast. We heard how great it was. Well......the breakfast was not very good (or we had higher expectations), BUT the rest of the hotel clearly made up for it! I give it 5 stars because we decided to go out for breakfast after the first day. There are a lot of yummy places to eat breakfast and we enjoyed going to Teddy Bear (in the village) the best! Loved that the hotel had fresh coffee, oj, muffins etc. But the eggs were blah. Service was awesome. The lady that cleaned our room was great (be sure to tip them, they go out of their way). Get a room with a balcony over looking the pool and huge pine tree's! You can request a fridge and microwave in your room (which we did). The lady at the front desk was really helpful and so knowledgable of Big Bear. She knew where places were and times they open and close. We arrived early and our room was ready. It was pouring rain and she made sure we were taken care of. The pool and jacuzzi were great! Everything is spotless clean and landscape was beautiful. Yes - the hotel does need a little up-dating but this is Big Bear. It's not Las Vegas. The game room and fitness room is where the up-dating should begin. We will be back. LOVE the location and beautiful surrounding.

"Great place in Big Bear, Great value!"
Craig T, 07 Août 2016

Staff was wonderful, very knowledgeable and polite. Good full breakfast included with the price of the stay was a plus. No charge to park. Nice clean room. Not super fancy, just right for a good nights rest and a fresh start to the day, whether business or leisure.

"Beautiful Mountain Setting"
Debra L, 03 Août 2016

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at this very nice hotel. As a matter of fact, we recently booked another reservation for later this month! They offer a FREE breakfast that is second to none. It includes tasty danishes, bagels, muffins, waffles, cereals, boiled eggs, fruits, juices, coffee, tea... AND you are able to order one freshly prepared specialty dish: choice of omlette, eggs benedict, etc.

"Beautiful Hotel"
Gary M, 02 Août 2016

This hotel was very pretty the moment we drove up. We enjoyed how it was nestled in the big pines trees and all the flowers that were out front. Inside, there were lots of interesting things to look at from art work to the was the hotel was designed. The breakfast in the morning was very yummy. It is a great little get away. :)

"Nice place in Big Bear"
James S, 02 Août 2016

I was impressed the moment that I arrived at this location. The hotel is well maintained, the staff very friendly and helpful, and the rooms very nice. Used the spa facilities and met a lot of nice people. The beds in the room were very comfortable, and plenty of room. The morning breakfast was delicious with good choices. Would like to stay here again in the future!

Clean, comfortable, attractive. Beautiful setting, wonderful amenities (pool, jacuzzi, work-out room, complimentary breakfast). Staff were professional and accommodating. We will definitely stay here again.

"Perfect location, secluded and quiet"
Laurieface, 28 Juillet 2016

We love this hotel because it is set back from main road, secluded and quiet, with beautiful spacious grounds and lots of trees around the pool area. Yet, only 1.5 miles from Big Bear Village where there are many shops and restaurants. Always a good choice for us.

"Best Western Big Bear Chateau"
Loi P, 18 Juillet 2016

Poor front desk customer service when check in. Poor WiFi signal in room 201, complaint to front desk and received very rude respond. Loud music sound from wedding party. Not enough shampoo and body bar soap ( I book this room for 4 people) had to went down to front desk to ask for and pick up and received very unpleasant front desk personnel service (around 5:00PM 7/16/2016) Old furniture. On 7/17/2016 morning (around 5:00AM) there was some repair/cleaning noise woke up all my party while in deep sleep. The only good thing was the breakfast plenty of food and fruit and friendly host and service..

"Best Western Big Bear"
jenny w, 18 Juillet 2016

This hotel is extremely noise. The walls are paper thin, I could hear everything my neighbor was saying at all times. People were running up and down the halls screaming at night and slamming doors. I got hardly any sleep. The interior was outdated. The parking lot had 3 electric stalls that were full of cars that were not electric vehicles. I came out in the morning to leave and some people had parked in none parking stalls blocking the drive aisle. I had to drive over plants in order to leave the hotel. I think it was ridiculous that no one from the hotel noticed that the drive aisle was blocked and did something about it.

"Big Bear Chateau"
A G F, 16 Juillet 2016

Designed like a French Chateau, it is nestled among spruce and pine trees at a 6000 ft level in the San Bernadino Mountains. It is a charming facility with plenty of amenities both inside and outside the facility. It was our 1st time here and we definitely plan to return. The staff are very accommodating and grounds are well maintained.

"Great hotel! "
Maria V, 14 Juillet 2016

We stayed for two nights and it was great. It's clean and comfortable. The rooms have a fireplace which is a plus for me. The bathroom was very clean. It has plenty of parking. They have complimentary breakfast and it is plenty. They have four choices of eggs, potatoes, sausage or bacon. They have fresh fruit, cereal and a waffle maker. At the lobby, they have coffee, hot tea, and apples all day long. The only reason I didn't give this hotel a 5 is because the walls are too thin. You can hear people walking down the hall or above you. I guess there is not much they can do about this though.

""Best " and "Big" discribe this totally."
Thomas C, 14 Juillet 2016

From the time you enter the grounds you will be set back as to the quality of thiis 'Chateau'. The lobby, dining, rooms, swimming, parking, and the complete mountain experience makes this a must visit place.

"Great location one block from Big Bear Boulevard"
Judy P, 12 Juillet 2016

We had a room with a very comfortable King bed, coffee maker, TV, fireplace, large bathroom with amenities, 2 free bottles of water, free full breakfast, and lots of space. The lobby was spacious, the staff inviting and helpful, the bar large, and the restaurant, open for breakfast, was large. We were there for our son's wedding at a nearby church and lake-front cabin. We own a small cabin but were very glad that we chose to stay at this hotel. After the reception many of the attendees from the wedding continued the celebration in the bar. I highly recommend it.

"Gorgeous grounds - great pool / spa!"
MarieS_10, 11 Juillet 2016

We really enjoyed our stay over the Fourth of July weekend. Upon arrival, we weren't 100% happy with the room on the ground floor, so requested a higher floor and the front desk staff was extremely accommodating. He placed us on the second floor with a great view of the pool and pine trees. It was a very tranquil setting and we loved the balcony. When I learned that we could have a whirlpool bath for just a few dollars more I jumped at the chance and the bath was heaven. The fireplace was very elegant and overall it was a great stay. The breakfast was very good and the hotel staff extremely accommodating. We very likely will stay there again. It seems much nicer and more upscale than other places in the area.

"Nice and clean"
KathyR002, 05 Juillet 2016

Stayed here for 4th of July weekend. Pet friendly, and the property was nice. Staff were courteous and efficient. Great breakfast every morning, parking was convenient, and location was perfect for the area.

"Lovely Hotel"
susanmL9765WQ, 29 Juin 2016

For this trip to Big Bear Lake, I wanted a hotel that would be comfortable and in a location where my 12 year old daughter and I would be central to various activities. Our stay was really well. Very helpful and friendly staff. The complimentary breakfast was great, enjoyed pre ordered omelet. I loved my stay at this hotel. I will stay again.

"Church retreat"
Allyj J, 26 Juin 2016

This was not my first time to Big Bear, but my first tI'm here at Best Western Chateau. The hotel is situated at a good place. Really close to shopping center and eateries. The decor is a bit on the flamboyant side for me, not really into that Victorian style. Staff is friendly enough, the breakfast there is really good and the pkus, side is you can actually order eggs how you like them. If you are a guest breakGast is included, nonguest the cost is $12. Still not a bad deal for the price. The rooms are average. While the beds are comfortable they only have 5 rooms that have king size beds, and the remaining rooms are doubles. My husband and I had to sleep in different beds because they were too small. (very disappointing). The air condition didn't work to its full capacity, but just enough to cool off the room. The swimming pool was nice, a little smaller as in the picture on the website, but we didn't mind as it was warm outside and we just wanted to cool off. Overall l, I would stay here again, only if I could get the king size bed.

"Church Leaders Get Away"
DesertWorshipGuy, 26 Juin 2016

Overall enjoyed the stay at this Best Western in Big Bear. The hotel itself has a unique feel to it from the lobby to the pool area to the rooms themselves. I gave it only a rating of 3 because of some flaws, but those flaws wouldn't stop me from staying there again. The check-in process was easy and painless for most people in our group. We had come up for a couple of days with the leaders of my church, so there were about 35 of us in total. Two ladies had to wait a couple hours upon checking in because their room wasn't ready, but beyond that I didn't hear about anyone else having issues with the check in process. The rooms were nicely done with touches that gave them an extra touch. Love the fact that there is a fireplace in each room. The room I had was a standard 2 bed room. It was a small room, which was one of the reasons that I only gave this hotel 3. I believe you technically could fit 4 people in the room, but it would be a tight fit. The bathroom was very spacious and stocked with standard items (shampoo, conditioner, bar soap, e.t.c) The shower head as higher then most hotels which was a super plus because usually the shower heads in hotels are low and makes it difficult to take a good shower. The arrangement of some of the rooms in the hotel itself is kind of weird. There are certain rooms on the second floor in which you go to the elevator and then have to go down a flight of stairs. Staying on the second floor, getting to the pool area was tricky because you had to go to one end of the hotel and go down about 3 flights of stairs. They have a game room, I walked by it, but didn't use it. I believe it's open at 9 or 10 a.m. and closes at 9 p.m. All of the supplies (paddles, balls, e.t.c.) are kept at the front desk. Breakfast is included with your stay. It includes your choices of egg and you can also order bacon/sausage and potatoes on the side. And then there is a breakfast bar where you can make your own waffles, toast, oatmeal, yogurt, fruit, e.t.c. The breakfast is very standard and nothing that I was getting all excited about. It did the job and offered what was promised, just don't expect anything but basic. All the employees that I encountered were very nice and informative when asked questions. Overall, would I stay here again? Absolutely! The flaws wouldn't keep me from coming back or recommending it to people.

"Big Bear's Secret Retreat"
jerry g, 24 Juin 2016

I'm not a camper; I don't like to fish, but I love the beauty of the mountains, the smell of pines, and the tranquility of a restful retreat. Add a feeling of luxury in a charming chateau that opens to a grand parlor with chandeliers and high ceilings and you have the best of both tastes. I'm happy to report that the breakfast is hearty and the staff is quite accommodating, but I also want to keep it a secret so I can return without crowds. My only disappointment, and why I didn't give it an excellent rating, is that, sans breakfast, the restaurant is only open on weekends.

"Charming hotel with great staff"
heidiw500, 21 Juin 2016

We loved the central location and the grounds were beautiful. Plenty of parking. The breakfast was much nicer than a continental breakfast. Eggs benedict and omelets were included and cooked to order.

"family trip"
Paul A, 21 Juin 2016

Love this property and location. The pool is set under tall pines with a large open and well maintained lawn bordering on woods. The breakfast that is served is a real and good quality meal. We will stay here again.

"Mountain Retreat"
maggie h, 20 Juin 2016

Just an overnighter following a family BBQ nearby. My sister and husband had booked their own room and we planned on touring the lake area the next day. We arrived just before dark and liked what we saw...plenty of ambience and old world charm. I had requested upper floor with a balcony and upon check-in at approximately 8:00pm, was told those rooms were taken. However, for just $5 more I could upgrade to a room with jetted tub in the bathroom. Of course, I said yes! The room was spacious and nicely decorated with beautiful armoire and gas fireplace. In the morning I enjoyed the view from my balcony overlooking the swimming pool in a park like setting nestled in the pines. The breakfast experience was the best of all BW properties I have stayed. The room was huge, buffet fresh and well maintained. Best of all, we had eggs to order from a menu, included with the nightly rate!! Would return if visiting the area and recommend to friends & family.

"The nicest Best Western I've seen."
E7503IKericw, 20 Juin 2016

Elegant and quiet. A very nice place for a couple or family. There are some things in walking distance. I liked the entry way and the back of the hotel. About two miles from village drive and a quick drive up to the ski area or golf course.

"Exceptional Service!"
Rhiannon S, 06 Juin 2016

We always stay at the Best Western Big Bear, we have been going up for years now and wouldn't stay anywhere else, they are always so accommodating and friendly. They have beautiful grounds and pool area to relax by and a great breakfast included every morning.

"Great fun for the family! Clean rooms, and friendly staff."
Paula M, 31 Mai 2016

Perfect place to stay for families with kids. Game room, pool, hot tub, restaurant, everything you need. The room was clean. Breakfast was easy and delicious. We brought our family dog too. The room had a dog bowl for water, and potty bags.

"The Best Best Western!"
Edward S, 28 Mai 2016

We were looking for a quick get away from L.A. and had been wanting to stay at Big Bear for a while. Our Dog Kate always goes with us and this was one of the few hotels in the area that accepted dogs. Best Western easily surpassed our expectations. The room was super clean, stocked with complimentary dog bowls & dog bags. The woman at the front desk was the nicest and most genuine hotel desk clerk we've run into (the 4 star places are really nice but it's all corporate fakery). It was so nice we added an extra night. Fireplace in the room, four season jacuzzi on the patio. Comfy bed. We had to leave at 3am to be back to work in time and needed the security gate opened on the backside because our dog was limping a bit painfully after an extensive hike (she tore a couple pads) and the gentleman working the desk overnight (24 hr front desk service!) got to it right away. We stayed in mid-May which I assume is the "off-season" so the rate was much less than normal and very few tourists around so that was nice. As a "tourist" I prefer not to be in the company of a sea of tourists if you catch my drift. Also, the breakfast is cooked to order (eggs, potatoes) and complimentary The nearby Castle Rock trail was a blast - steep but fun. We like a challenge in a hike. Just walking along a path is not quite our speed. Plenty of boulders to climb, sweeping views and a running stream to guide you back down - a lot of the trail is barely discernible which we also like.

"A great experience"
Nancy C, 24 Mai 2016

I found this Best Western in Big Bear the best one I have been at. This is a high quality motel that is verging on a hotel. You enter a nice size lobby with a piano and fireplace. You are great by a very friendly but professional staff. The room I had was very clean and had a fireplace. Some of my family members were in rooms that not only had a fireplace, but a Jacuzzi. The continental breakfast was quite adequate and included hot oatmeal and make-your-won waffles. In addition, we were given breakfast coupons upon check in which enabled us to have several choices of a egg dish with bacon or sausage and potatoes. Two things that could improve: We had no control in our room of heating/air conditioning. We had to ask for this service. In addition, the shower curtain was not quite wide enough, so if you are not careful, water goes on to the floor. Overall, however, I would certainly recommend this place for those who want to stay in Big Bear Lake, California.

"This hotel is awesome!"
Sandra R, 23 Mai 2016

We had a great time with our dog. It's hard to find a hotel that really helps out with a pet. The place is super cute. The bedrooms are cozy and the hotel staff is really nice. The free breakfast was awesome. Real bang for your buck. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

"Great find "
rwheeler1977, 22 Mai 2016

I had never been to Big Bear before so I referred to Trip Advisor and went by price. I planned a quick overnight midweek snowboarding trip with my boys since they had a day off from school. We arrived about 6ish on a Tuesday night and we were welcomed with a smile. The check in process was a breeze. Since we had our dog with us we were placed in one of the rooms down below near the game room. I do love it when hotels accept dogs as it makes a hotel feel more like home and gives you the option of bringing your dog along for the trip. The hotel is decorated as a fancy chateau which is kind of out of place for rustic Big Bear, although it did make you feel like you were staying at a fancy place. The breakfast included was great! You were able to choose off of the menu hot breakfast items. The gentleman running the restaurant takes great pride in his job and it shows. Thanks to the Best Western for a great stay. If in the area again I would choose to stay here.

"Big Bear Chateau, Big Bear Lake"
Zane J, 09 Mai 2016

Hi, Big Bear Chateau is excellent. The rooms a comfortable, private and relatively quiet. The restaurant is very good. I would recommend staying at BW Big Bear to anyone. WARNING: DO NOT STAY AT BW 29 PALMS!!!! The Best Western 29 Palms is the opposite. It is noisy, dirty, and the food is very limited (oatmeal and coffee). The front-desk staff is unfriendly. I had several problems and received no help from the staff or owner.

"3 night-stay during a leisure trip."
N89VLdanielleg, 30 Avril 2016

The BW Chateau is well located, not too far from a commercial center, on a quiet street. The staff was courteous and quite friendly.. The room was spacious and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast was excellent and the staff at the kitchen was prompt and courteous.

"Breath Taking"
Susie H, 24 Avril 2016

Let me start by saying I live here in Big Bear Lake for fifteen years. I do "staycations ", and I have stayed all over this valley. It takes a lot to impress me, and I'm serious about quality. I work in a "Land Mark" restaurant, and I'm constantly recommending places to stay. Just today I was able to give a good review of you twice. From the moment I walked in I knew this was going to be special. Marble, Antiques, Art, and Chandeliers. Breathtaking. Front desk personnel Sherri, Penny, and Todd make you feel so special. Professional and friendly, they exude Big Bear Attitude. Loved them all. Special shout out to Alfredo and Moses for the excellent complimentary breakfast. Started my day off right eating in the beautiful dining room. I also need to mention a hard working man named Casper. Quiet, but smiling, he makes his way around the hotel with precision and pride in his work. Your staff is phenomenal. When I got to the room, it was a "wow" factor I couldn't ignore. No plain boring white walls, instead an apricot tile feature with white walls to make it pop. Ladies, it's great color for enhancing your skin tone. The fire place reflecting off the armour is so serene. Then to be able to walk out onto your own balcony, right into the pine trees, what more can you ask for? Haven't even begun to tell you how much fun we had playing in the game room. So much laughing and competition with each other. The exercise room kept up our figures and gave us an opportunity for some much need gym time. I took advantage of their complimentary coffee and tea center in the lobby, and enjoyed all the little alcove and sitting areas on every floor. I spent four wonderful, relaxing, and happy days here with my friend, and on behalf of both of us, thank you. You all went above and beyond any expectations I had and I will proudly recommend you to all my guests looking for a special experience here in paradise.

"Doesn't belong in Big Bear!"
Kevin M, 18 Avril 2016

This hotel is way too nice for big bear. I was not expecting much, but was really shocked at the hotel. It was nicer than most hotels costing 4x as much per night. Room was very clean and the service was incredible. The only complaints I can come up with but this goes with most hotels is the noise. Walls seem pretty thin and you can hear your neighbors and anyone in the hall way. However, I have stayed at Ritz Carltons that were just as noisy so I did not ding this for this hotel. I will definitely be staying here again.

"no 1 big bear"
edward w, 16 Avril 2016

front staff and breakfast is the best for the big bear mountain location at this hotel. staff members to call upon are penny or sherri so many things to do in the area if you care to relax, that is good also. family and friends can even cook out and enjoy the pool area

"Best Western Big Bear Chateau, Big Bear Lake"
Lawrence K, 12 Avril 2016

The location of the hotel is great if your skiing at Bear Mountain Ski Resort. Complementary breakfast was alright, food came quickly. The gym and play room was nice. Rooms and hotel was clean, staff very friendly. My only complaint is the noise, the do not seem to be insulated, you can hear your neighbors casually talking in their rooms.

"Cozy Mountain Hotel"
CK813, 11 Avril 2016

Rooms were small but clean, cozy , and affordable. The wifi worked great, and the gas fireplace was a nice touch (though it hisses a little loudly). Mattress was just a touch on the too firm side (compares to other hotels). The gyms was small it sufficient to beak a sweat if you need to. It's not quite near town center but there is a trolley that stops in regularly so you don't have to drive.

"Better than expected!"
MinnieHM, 04 Avril 2016

My husband and I were looking for a quick and affordable weekend getaway and the Best Western Big Bear Chateau did not disappoint! The price was right, the location was excellent, and the stay was peaceful. We were surprised by the decor of the hotel, sort of a Greco-Roman-1940's look (not the best description I'm sure), but our room was very cozy with a large armoire, dresser, and marble-lined fireplace. Our room also had a jacuzzi tub, which we tried for the first time ever (just a tip, it is quite loud so don't expect a very relaxing soak). We love staying at Best Westerns because breakfast is included, and this went way above the usual waffle-maker and o.j.! In addition to the regular breakfast buffet, the kitchen made omelets, bacon, sausage patties, seasoned potatoes, and eggs benedict to order. Got our mornings off to a great start!

"Poor Staff Nice Rooms"
Jamie G, 02 Avril 2016

The rooms are clean, the breakfast is great. The hotel staff is a D minus, if that. Penny is the only professional person working the front desk that is worth speaking with. The others, highlighting the Hotel Manager is a joke. It's true ANYONE can get a job, at least at this hotel. I am not sure what their hiring process is but it can't be too challenging when a Hotel Manager like this one is on site. I feel terrible for the employees working for her. She was rude and spoke down to all of them. With so many other places to stay in the area I wouldn't stay here as the prices are more expensive and the customer service is embarrassing.

"We love our stay..ju"
Marshaici, 29 Mars 2016

Great place to stay during your ski trip . Only 10 min away from the Big Bear ski slopes .Cosy rooms with fireplace , comfy beds, warm comforters .You can have dinners right in the hotel or take a short drive to the village , where you can find a variety of tasty dining options.

"Really nice fkr the area"
Drew S, 28 Mars 2016

We were pleesently suprised at how nice this Best Western was. Good reception amd nice friendly people. Hotel was clean and rooms were comfortable. We had a fireplace in the room. Easy to get to the slopes and within walking distance to stores and CVS. The breakfast was decent and the hotel in general was nicely kept.

"Not a disappointment!"
Pamela B, 27 Mars 2016

This hotel is for the couple that wants to be away from "The Village" and all the traffic. Extremely clean and the staff very friendly. A bonus is the breakfast provided in the morning. Excellent choices and food was good. A great beginning to a wonderful day in Big Bear!

"Running toilet all night and took 15 hours to get looked at"
Paul H, 26 Mars 2016

The room was very musty also and staff were not at all helpful. I had to move room due to a toilet running all night and after telling the staff at 7am, by 7pm it still wasnt fixed. For $150 a night this hotel is not advisable to stay in. The rooms looked old and the wifi is horrible. My netflix kept buffering, thats when it worked at all.

"Best Western - Best service, Best time!"
Yaelle S, 23 Mars 2016

So we stayed at this Best Western with our annual school group. There were 45 families and the staff was accommodating. From the hot jacuzzi, to the game room featuring a air hockey, ping pong table, and billiards table, to the fitness room - to the extensive complimentary breakfast, the free wi-fi, everything was great! I would recommend this place for families - its just down the hill from Bear Mountain resort where we skiied/snowboarded and less than 10 minutes from various tubing places and the big bear village. Super convenient and the staff was fantastic!

"Nice hotel close to the ski slopes"
1959Ian, 17 Mars 2016

Hotel was very nicely located just minutes from Bear Mnt resort. Rooms OK, clean, but air con was v. noisy. The rom was in the basement area, with a view of a fence... not so good. The reception area very nice and welcoming. The included breakfast was a bit disappointing and could have been much better.

"Great weekend at BBL Best Western"
Fishergal, 15 Mars 2016

We were in town for a basketball tournament . Good central location. Comfortable rooms, great breakfast and perfect for older kids becauease of the game room. The onsite restaurant was great especially since the weather turned stormy and we didn't want to drive in the snow just to grab a bite! Other restaurants were within walking distance but the food, service and bar was quite good!

"Tired hotel"
Julie O, 15 Mars 2016

The decor is tired looking and dated but decent. We only stayed there because of the event we participated in for that weekend. The staff is very nice but the facility needs to be remodeled. They needed more seating in the lobby and the breakfast was horrible. In out room the beds were small and uncomfortable. Nothing worked in the room like the fireplace and heater for the towels in the bathroom. The room was very dark even with the window open.

"Great Place for the location"
Danielle S, 14 Mars 2016

If you are looking for a hotel type stay that is comfortable and clean, then this is a good place. Its isn't the best, I think that is because is because it is chain hotel. But it was clean, linens are updated, staff is nice, and breakfast was good. The hotel was also quite. I enjoyed my stay. Only thing I'd say was a downer was I felt it was a little more expensive then it should have been. We paid $265, It was maybe worth about $150.00. Since we didn't have any issues and enjoyed our stay we didn't complain about the price. It is an older hotel, but it close to down town, and the local resort.

"Pretty Expensive given the service"
LJSU, 07 Mars 2016

This hotel is pretty expensive given the level of service (poor) and location (need car to get anywhere). After being ignored in the Breakfast room we decided to skip trying the lounge. We came in the winter and the pool is outside (seems like it should be inside given that it snows for most of the year here). We didn't try the exercise facility since we were snow sledding but I did peak in and it seems pretty functional.

"Great hotel in Big Bear"
Steve S, 03 Mars 2016

I stayed at this hotel while on a skiing trip to Big Bear. The hotel is located just a mile from the slopes at Big Bear Resort and the room prices are very reasonable. I loved how clean and comfortable my room was, including the gas fireplace. They also offer a hot breakfast that is free, along with fresh fruit and numerous other food items that would satisfy the needs of most food critics. The hotel also has a lounge and restaurant, however they operate on limited hours so check with the staff at check-in. There are also three restaurants within walking distance of the hotel along with a liquor store. The hotel is located just off Big Bear Blvd, which also offers more dining choices. Three star hotels are few in this area and Best Western is certainly deserving of its three stars.

"Comfortable but dated "
Sophie M, 21 Février 2016

This hotel is a nice hotel but the decor is quite dated. The rooms were comfortable, breakfast was fairly good and there is always coffee available in the lobby. The swimming pool was shut for the winter season which is a shame as it would have been nice to have a dip after a days skiing. Some restaurants in walking distance and bear village a short taxi ride or longer walk. Walgreens is 2 min walk from the hotel. The ski resort (big bear) is about a 5 minute drive from the hotel and snow summit resort slightly closer.

"Great Location, Easy Stay"
Jenny D, 16 Février 2016

This was my 2nd visit to this hotel. Great experience. Nothing really to complain about. The hotel could use a little updating and maybe room service. All in all for the price, including breakfast every morning it is a great deal.

"Best Western Big Bear Chateau"
Jaymie L, 11 Février 2016

Me and 5 friends travelled to big bear for a weekend getaway. We visited the best western for one night with two rooms. Both rooms had a balcony and also a fireplace. The rooms were big, clean, and quiet. The hotel staff from the front desk attendants to the cooked to order breakfast were awesome. At night we enjoyed the live music and bar area. I would recommend if you are travelling to big bear to check this place out. It has a game room for kids, and a place for adults to relax.

"Solid chateau style hotel!"
Hockeygy35, 07 Février 2016

I stayed here New Year's Eve and I must say I was impressed! I only had some slight trouble checking in, for some reason my reservations I made could not be found by the clerk. We eventually figured things out and got a room. The rooms are clean and has the cabin like feeling with the fireplace. The balcony was awesome too! Great location, bear mtn is right up moonridge. Don't know what else I can say about this place but trust me you won't be disappointed. Stay here!

"Very Nice Stay!"
striker212121, 26 Janvier 2016

As someone that travels fairly often for business and pleasure, I highly suggest the Best Western Big Bear Chateau. Our family found the location outstanding, close to the mountain, overflow parking with shuttle (walking distance0 and restaurants and the village. The hotel was well kept and clean and the complimentary breakfast was outstanding! The staff was truly friendly at all areas to include the front desk, restaurant and bar area, nice job on hiring the right people. Please understand the decor of the hotel is a little dated, the accommodations are comfortable and if you expect something in the design style of 2016, this is not the right choice for you. All the basics were delivered well and the location and experience was outstanding. AND, I travel allot and am a snob at times, but this hotel worked well for what we paid for..

"Awesome Snow Days"
Anissa B, 19 Janvier 2016

Beautiful decor of hotel and full breakfast. Pool and air hockey tables make for hours of fun. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Located close to village, activities and slopes. Clean and comfortable rooms and beds. Awesome fireplace in room.

"Big Bear in the Spring."
robinwp, 17 Janvier 2016

I stayed here over spring break and it was a nice hotel. It has a nice pool area with a lot of native birds around. It also has a nice breakfast. The beds were not that comfortable and the walls were a little thin.

"Not bad"
Katie-E80, 16 Janvier 2016

We stayed here because it had a pool (which we never ended up using). The property is fine. It's a little ways away from Big Bear village, but not far. Not walking distance though. We had to go back and get our room switched since we booked (and paid for) a room with a balcony and the first one they gave us did not have one. The breakfast that was included was fine, not great, but about what you'd expect from a Best Western. There was always parking, and it was convenient to hiking, the zoo, the lake, anything you want to do in Big Bear, but you do have to drive. If we go back to Big Bear, I would likely find a cabin to rent instead of staying here, just because I think I could find one of a comparable price and it would offer a little more privacy and more space.

"Good with one exception"
ADaum25, 13 Janvier 2016

We stayed for three days in October 2015. The breakfast here was fantastic (and also the guy who made the breakfast)! The front desk staff were also really nice. The hotel itself is dated, and has a lot of quirks. It needs new carpeting. My daughter called it the Castle and enjoyed exploring the different levels and hallways. My only real complaint was the bed! It was the WORST bed I have ever slept in. A rock hard mattress that made our hips and shoulders ache the next day. It was like sleeping on a cement slab or the floor. Please get new pillow top mattresses or foam toppers! The beds were also full size which was too small for two of us. We would come back if the beds were changed.

"Big Bear during NYE was so expensive"
466dilekk, 07 Janvier 2016

very nice entrance area, free tea, apples, good location, noisy hotel, thin walls, uncomfortable bed for king size and so expensive We were here during the NYE two nights, I could not find anything reasonable for 3 of us (2 adults, one 7 year old)

"Hotel Needs Updating"
John D, 06 Janvier 2016

The hotel is in a serious need of an update. 2nd floor still required stairs, even with an elevator. Staircase rails were loose. I fell on the stairs. Room was run down. Hair in one of the beds. Breakfast was ok. OJ was watered down. Oatmeal was runny. Overall, just not a good experience. We do not plan to stay again.

"Avoid staying here! Worst customer service!"
PAMELA C, 03 Janvier 2016

During our stay, there was a water main break that occurred on 12/24/15 at 1am that affected our experience at the hotel. Because there was no running water, our family froze that night with the heater unoperational (as it needs water to operate) and therefore had a very restless/sleepless night. We had no water in the morning to brush our teeth with and none of us were able to shower. We were not able to flush our toilets and the smell from this as you can imagine was horrible as it was eventually coming from EVERY ROOM in the hotel. My youngest daughter needed to use the bathroom after we checked out and all the toilets in the lobby had feces, blood, urine and paper towels to the brim. It was the most disgusting and horrible thing to experience on your family vacation. I have two small children and they have been traumatized and still remember it two weeks out. I contacted the hotel on a full refund for my night and the only response I got was a "we will try better next time." Although the water main break was not their fault, I believe that when you make an agreement to pay for a hotel stay, the basic necessities should be offered otherwise you should refund the paying customer (no heat in 30 degree weather, no running water, no use of toilets or shower!) I believe those are basic needs. Their response was unacceptable! I would not recommend staying at this hotel and will never be coming back.

"good value"
Todd Y, 30 Décembre 2015

Clean, close to ski slopes, excellent breakfast included, not the usual "continental breakfast" - a full breakfast and kids eat free. Lobby has nice fireplace and Christmas tree during the holidays. Convenient to both Big Bear ski slopes.

"Nothing fancy but comfortable bed and good breakfast included"
natalie N, 30 Décembre 2015

Since it was the Holidays and a last-minute booking, we didn't have any other choices in Big Bear so we paid >$320/night! Very expensive for this typical 3*** hotel! If I would have paid $100/night then this would have been a great value, but since we paid >$320/night, I expected a lot more! Overall, everything was ok, except for the good made-to-order breakfast and close proximity to Bear Mountain Ski Resort. In-room service was slow, and the Free Internet was extremely slow or unreliable!

"Staff Not qualified to handle major problem"
Ziad B, 25 Décembre 2015

The main water pipe cracked in the middle of the night and we were woken up to a very loud noise. There was no water in the hotel, we went to inquire and they told us it would take an hour or so to fix. 6 hours later no water and the staff were not experienced in dealing with the situation, they were overwhelmed. The dryer in the hotel did not work either and the staff could care less.

"ONE OF THE NICE HOTEL IN BIG BEAR LAKE"
Yungto S, 24 Décembre 2015

This is one of the best hotel that I have ever stayed in Big Bear Lake with convenience location. The most important thing I needed to mentioned is this hotel provides Full Breakfast daily, which is make to order at your choice from their menu, their staff is nice and helpful, overall experience is great, you and your family will like it. I thing I should say VERY GOOD.

"The Trip of a Lifetime"
Gladys Karmilia C, 20 Décembre 2015

My husband and I went to Big Bear to celebrate our 1 year anniversary and were blown away by the beauty and uniqueness of this hotel. It exceeded our expectations and we look forward to coming back in the future.

"Awesome Hotel"
BitOfHonestyy, 15 Décembre 2015

Came in for just a night & absolutely loved it. It had been years since I've been here & oh how did I miss it. It was a pleasure getting to see Penny again, she's very kind. The hotel had live music at the bar Saturday night which was nice to enjoy while sipping on a hot chocolate. Thank you all for an awesome weekend.

"Beautiful hotel and great location"
sandyinsandiego, 01 Décembre 2015

My boyfriend and I decided on a last minute snow getaway to Big Bear. Found this hotel perfect for us! Great location, it was beautiful and comfortable rooms. We used the in room fire place and jet tub and it was exactly what we wanted for a thanksgiving romantic snow day. Would recommend and stay again.

"Good value for quick getaway"
Derek V, 21 Novembre 2015

Great little Chateau Motel Inn nestled in the mountains of Big Bear Lake quiet convenient and cozy. I reccommend this hotel for anyone who is looking for a quick getaway a place to lay their head on vaca

"A grand old hotel!"
FirstLast34, 18 Novembre 2015

We paid GBP 60 for one night - and got a king size bed, fireplace, balcony and a whirlpool bath - and a free breakfast of course! That was great value!! Situated about 10 mins from the village and lake, it is a lovely setting with lots of trees. The hotel is old and grand, but it is a 'chateau' after all!! It has gym and games rooms, which we used during our one night stay. Breakfast was plentiful including a cooked to order breakfast if required. The price we paid made this the bargain stay of the trip!

"Older decor, older used furnishings without a microwave, refrigerator or amenities"
Walker S, 06 Novembre 2015

Rooms are badly in need of renovation. Vibe is grand old hotel with pink chandeliers and lots of tile on floors, walls, fireplace surround, dresser, tables, etc. Control of heating or cooling in your room is a switch, either on or off with instructions to call the front desk if you have a temperature problem. Old dresser had sticky draws making them hard to open and close. No closet but an old armoire sits in room intended to provide a place for hanging clothes but it is shallow make turning the closes hanging sideways to close the door. A small side table near the door holds a one cup coffee maker with paper cups and several plastic cups. Bathroom is fully tiled with a feel that would be appropriate for older hotels. Toilet stuck with constant running water making it necessary to life the ceramic lid and jiggle the float to make it stop. Flushing was weak making two flushes necessary. Fireplace has an on-off switch to light the gas, however during our three day stay it operated properly only twice. I was starting to think it was controlled by the front desk like the heating system, but no, it was just not working right. Balcony was tiny with a sliding glass door that stuck so that my wife could not operate it. Decorative mirror over the old dresser was hanging at an odd angle but we were unable to set it straight. Breakfast is served in a elegant dining room from the past, lots of tiles and plenty of old fashion pink chandeliers. Along the wall is the usual breads, yogurt, hot and cold cereals, fruit, waffle maker, all self service. On the opposite wall is a coffee service with hot water and tea. A small menu is on the table, a waiter comes and takes you order of eggs, bacon or sausage and potatoes with no other options provided. We bused our own table. One morning we hung the "do not disturb" sign on the door while eating breakfast. When we returned a note was under the door advising that no maid service would be provided for that day due to the "do not disturb" sign and if we had a problem with that we could contact the front desk. The maid was in the hall so we asked politely if she would provide service to our room and she said yes. An envelope had been provided with a name penciled on the front with a butterfly sticker. I put a tip into it each day. Odd but their is sufficient parking as we returned the first night after eating dinner and found no place to park. A bar is just off the lobby which was doing a booming business that evening with some of the cars from those folks. We finally saw someone pull out and managed to park at a distance but at least it was parked. I have attached several pictures to illustrate the odd old grand decor and the funny old fashioned furniture. The bed was adequate but we found the pillows lacking. Would I recommend this facility for your next visit to Big Bear? No.

"Beautiful hotel!"
Mia C, 02 Novembre 2015

We loved the decor, antiques, marble, it had an authentic chateau feel. It was dog-friendly, which we loved as well. Very nice place and wonderful staff. We'll be back for sure! We stayed at a "cabin" type place on our visit last year and it was so small and the bed was so uncomfortable we almost left early. This time we definitely wanted a "hotel" not a cabin. Best Western Big Bear Chateau more than lived up to our expectations and we will definitely be back again and this will be our go-to hotel from now on. Great value and excellent location. We could walk our dogs in any location from the hotel, which was nice for them! It was a great stay!

"love staying at best western"
rosariop336, 02 Novembre 2015

I won't stay any where else, Best Western is a great place, they make you feel like at home.... :) All their personal are very well train from management to housekeeping. I would definitely recommend Best western to anyone.

"Best place to stay in Big Bear, Ca"
Barzin P, 02 Novembre 2015

Best, cleanest, and nicest staff you can ever find in Big Bear area. Everyone would want to help you, very clean room and bed, super breakfast and very safe parking area. They have the best customer service in the area. They go beyond what they can do to get you in as a satisfied customer.

"A surprising 5-star experience in an affordable chain hotel"
Diana_SD, 29 Octobre 2015

I was pleasantly surprised at the decor, ambiance, and quality of service at the Best Western Big Bear Chateau. We decided on a stop at Big Bear last minute, coming home from Lake Tahoe. The experience here was much nicer than the expensive resort hotel earlier in the week. We were going for a modest cost for a short 2-night stay to scout the area. We didn't expect a beautifully decorated lobby and rooms with floor to ceiling antique-appearing wardrobe for a closet and carved suite door. The desk staff were so friendly--they made me feel like people I'd like to get to know. No stiffness or phony formality, they were professional and helpful. The included hot breakfast included all the typical help-yourself items, like oatmeal and yogurt, but you could also order omelettes at your table from a limited menu. They were served quickly and courteously. The setting for this hotel is just a block or so off the main drag. There is a Walgreens drug down at the corner. Nonetheless, the hotel seemed removed from the street. The setting was beautiful, surrounded by trees, and there are peaceful views with nothing but forest. Very quiet. Just down the street is an excellent restaurant, the Black Diamond. It's walkable even with a cane. We ate there twice. It was quiet on Thursday and jam-packed with patrons and live music on Friday night. My only complaints would be the brass bed headboard (I like to lean back in bed with my laptop, and I had to use pillows judiciously to get comfy) and a little noise the second night from the adjoining room (our neighbors had the TV turned up and had a rowdy phone conversation where I could hear all the swear words). Perhaps the sound insulation is not so great--or our neighbors were particularly loud. The first night was perfect. For under $100, we got way more than our money's worth--head and shoulders above any similarly or higher priced hotels and other Best Westerns as well.

"Pleasant, quaint and interesting~"
casmkt, 26 Octobre 2015

My husband and I were in Big Bear for bicycle business and stayed at the Best Western. Location is within walking distance of several restaurants, etc. The staff were very helpful with recommendations, information and the interior was amazing. Evidently, the owner at one time was from Germany and he shipped beautiful chandeliers, marble from Italy, artifacts from all over Europe. Amazing and delightful. Breakfast can be ordered hot from the menu or continental; rooms are nice and clean and up-to-date. Walls are a bit thin so you can hear loud neighbors above walking. Very pleasant setting and would definitely go back back but get a top floor.

"A very nice hotel"
travelingrandma91355, 24 Octobre 2015

We've always stayed in cabins at Big Bear, but this time decided to try the Best Western Big Bear Chateau. We're so happy we did! The facility itself is lovely and the staff is friendly. Our spacious room (slightly under $100 a night... a very reasonable off-season rate!) had a king bed, a Jacuzzi tub (which, because of the drought, we declined to use), a fireplace and a balcony with chairs. Plus, there is a yummy breakfast buffet included daily, which offers waffles, toast, bagels, etc., fresh fruit, oatmeal and made to order eggs, potatoes and sausage or bacon, plus the usual juices and hot beverages. The only drawbacks were the temperature control in the room (controlled by the hotel) and it would have been nice to include a refrigerator and microwave. The pool was closed for the winter (this was October), but the Hot Tub was available. The hotel is located on a quiet main street, surrounded by huge pine trees. It really is a lovely setting and we hope to return again soon.

"lovely hotel"
Marilyn M, 23 Octobre 2015

The rooms are spacious. The hotel's decor is amazing and you really feel like you are in a European chalet. It is close to the Village, restaurants, and ski lifts. It is in a quiet location surrounded by beautiful enormous pine trees, away from the busy main Big Bear road.

"I shall return""
patrick t, 14 Octobre 2015

I loved the location, just a couple of miles from Big Bear mountain, and the summit cable cars, and also close to a great food tavern and a good restaurant nearby within walking distance. There are plenty of day hikes in the area, and a great little coffee shop just up the road on the way to the mountain. The Big bear village is a lovely place to visit with plenty of arty type shops and restaurants. The hotel offers a great breakfast, from fresh fruit to continental, and specially ordered cooked to order and served within minutes, and all within the hotel price. There are a couple of super markets a mile down the road, so everything is to hand.

"My Best Friends Wedding"
Tinaya M, 12 Octobre 2015

This was my first time staying at the Best Western in Big Bear. With my friends wedding happening on the grounds we all decided it would be best to stay there. The staff was great however the morning of the wedding there was no AC in our room with 7 people in one room getting ready this obviously was an issue we reported it but instead the heat went up. We then decided it was best to open the doors and windows and turn everything off. Other than that my stay was great and the staff was helpful. I would recommend this hotel to others.

"A Special Hotel"
Holger S, 10 Octobre 2015

The Big Bear Lake Best Western Hotel has been consistently excellent each time we stay. The rooms are very clean, the staff is nice and helpful, the breakfast is free (we always leave a tip for the servers) and there are a few rooms where pets are allowed. The hotel has a pool and spa, a fitness room, a rec room and a lounge with live music. The beds are comfy and the hotel is off the busy street. What more could you ask for?

"One great hotel!"
Donald S, 06 Octobre 2015

I have not been able to find anything bad about this hotel. Very friendly staff, good rates (we were offseason in early October). Great breakfast, a breakfast buffet along with eggs and meat made to order. The rooms are charming with gas fireplaces and plenty of room in your room. I would highly recommend this place.

"Classy Place to Stay in Big Bear"
lalhasa, 01 Octobre 2015

Big Bear is not a Ritz Carlton kind of place, with lots of cabins and low-end motels. So the Best Western was a breath of fresh air, very nicely appointed, great hot breakfast served to you, a nice pool and jacuzzi, well-located close to Snow Summit. There is also a bar, with tacky folk music in the evening. Pet-friendly but not smoker-friendly (yay). Two negatives are the hotel has master-planned air conditioning, so you can't adjust the temp in your room (ours got very hot during the night), and they put us in Room 237, at the extreme end of a long series of corridors far from the lobby.

"Beautiful Big Bear"
Karyn Y, 29 Septembre 2015

This is a great hotel. The rooms are very nicely appointed. We usually check in and then head out to the back to have some fun by the pool. It's next door to a convenience store and the Black Diamond Tavern, so dinner and drinks are within walking distance. The staff is very friendly and accommodating.

"Nice Hotel"
Yvette P, 29 Septembre 2015

Location is good and loved all the amenities they offer (pool, jacuzzi, gym, free breakfast (made-to-order), cafe on premises, etc). Our room had a towel rack warmer and a whirlpool jacuzzi tub. Beds were comfy.

"Nice place to stay"
Kathleen K, 28 Septembre 2015

We enjoyed our stay and the room was very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was very tasty and the staff was very nice. The location was perfect for our weekend get a away. The weather was beautiful!! We would recommend this Hotel to family and friends and look forward to staying again.
