Hotels in Gard: what our guests say

Best Western L'Orangerie
"Really bad experience"
GVMLuxII, 26 Septembre 2026

We arrived at the hotel around 19:30 on a saturday, after a long road trip. We wanted obviously to relax, have a small meal or a glass of beer to close the day. Should not be difficult as this is a 4 stars hotel. However… we arrived and we were informed that the restaurant is closed during the weekends…. no other restaurants around (there was one which closed). So we said, OK give me just a beer. Two options. We selected one. Once it came, it was a stale beer of a barrel which was either old or leaking gas. Great experience… The lady at the reception was doing everything she could, but she could not do miracles. No food, no restaurant, not even chips… I repeat: 4 stars hotel… Honestly, this hotel needs to be downgraded to a maximum of 2 stars. There is a major management (or lack thereof) issue. This is a joke.

"A little haven in Nimes"
catydid924, 11 Avril 2026

This is a lovely little hotel situated a 15 minutes walk from the old town in Nimes. The property is older, but obviously well cared for and quite comfortable. Our room was spotless, with comfortable beds, the breakfast was fresh and tasty with a wide array of choices. What makes this property so special is its staff. Everyone extended us immense warmth, good humor and graciousness. Even with our ICE REQUESTS😂! I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants comfort and relaxation without 5 star prices.

"À great find in Nimes"

This hotel is a true value. Room prices are very reasonable for this area of Nîmes. Room and hotel furnishings are a bit Spartan but certainly nice enough. Our room was perfectly clean and well sized for hotels in Nimes. Lighting is well designed and placed. The bed was very large and comfortable, and the bedding of good quality. The bath is as typical small but not cramped at all. There is a private outdoor terrace that one enters from the room, which is a nice touch. Staff is very friendly, helpful and seem to really like their jobs. Special thanks to reception and our bartender for the night. The grounds are lovely and well cared for. We only spent one night but will return as we visit Nimes often and live not far. We speak French but English is fine. Highly recommend!

"Slighty disappointed."

Very friendly staff, clean room. But room can use some TLC, shower head was loose, could only be held in hand. Tv channels could not be played in original language. Our restaurant experience was poor, received wrong dish and what we got served was very very salty to the extent it was not eatable.

"Great hotel!!"
P T, 10 Juin 2025

What a great place. Nondescript building opens to a magnificent hotel that deftly blends the old and the new…ancient stones walls and twisting stone staircase to modern huge bathroom, Nesprsso machines and great bed. Staff is absolutely wonderful; engaging, friendly, proactive and helpful. Breakfast is fresh, delicious and varied. Location is perfect, centrally located but on an extremely quiet street. We stayed out for a huge (and loud) festival, and then retired to our completely quiet room.

"needs renovation/maintenance, but value for money; skip the breakfast"
bruno1234Brussels, 17 Mai 2025

When this hotel opened it(s doors 50 or 60 years ago it must have been great! Since that time very little investment has been made, hence the hotel is in dire need of a complete renovation. Today this is no longer a 4 star hotel, but rather a decent 2 star hotel. However, as we paid less than 100 Euro per night for a room for two, we felt that we got good value for money. Our room had a sizeable balcony with a vieuw of the pool. As the hotel is located on a very busy road some of the outside facing rooms must have quite a bit of traffic noise on the inside, but we requested a quiet room and our room was quiet...The hotel is within walking distance of the centre of Nimes and has plenty of parking. We choose this hotel because we wanted a hotel with a private parking. That came as a bit of a disappointment as the parking is completely unsecured, apart from a sign not to leave anything in the car. Avoid the breakfast: cheap industrial food, even the baguette wasn't any good. (Almost) finished items were not replenished.

"L'Orangerie: No Surprises, No Disappointments, 4 Star?"
Matthew C, 27 Février 2025

I am conflicted concerning this review: the hotel is "fine", the staff excellent, breakfast/dinner restaurant I have no complaint, but I just don't know if it is "4 Star" or worth the price. There are a lot of very nice hotels in Nimes. This may simply be the season, and the last minute booking situation. Possibly, if I went any other time of the year, or booked further in advance, I would claim perfection, and, frankly, Best Western is normally excellent value in France. L'Orangerie: No surprises, no disappointments, but just a bit pricey for the room. Excellent for transit situation given location immediately off of highway. Pool is really for children, not for adults. Would not want to stay here for more than 2 nights. To repeat: staff made the difference. Without them, I possibly would have more critical language.

"An oasis."

Lovely, old-school. Great pool, amazing drinks from enthusiastic waiters that take upwards of ten minutes when nothing's going on. Loved it, wished we'd been there for longer! A bit out of town, but made up in the price - easy and clear parking!

"A one night stop"
astonflyer, 16 Septembre 2024

A one night stay en route to Grimaud from Auch. We had not realised it was Festival weekend in Nimes (which was a fabulous spectacle) which meant hotel prices were high. Was it worth it? Probably not, as we only stayed one night but the hotel has a small pool, the room was comfortable, the bathroom adequate (small bath) but it's not a holiday relaxing type hotel as it adjacent to a very busy dual carriageway. Staff were informative, polite and spoke excellent English. Off road parking available.
