"A lovely hotel in a beautiful courtyard, great facilities."
Our stay at this quaint hotel was faultless. It is located in a magical courtyard where we enjoyed drinks. Staff were really helpful. Safe, covered parking was provided for a small fee. An excellent breakfast was available, again for a small fee. The room contained tea and coffee making facilities, a fridge / stocked mini bar. The bedroom furniture was slightly dated (or may just have been designed to be in keeping with the rustic building), but the bathroom had clearly been recently renovated and was lovely and spotlessly clean. A range of high end (L'Occitane, local) products were provided for guest use including hand gel, hand lotion, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner. The hotel had a pool for guest use which I sadly didn't use (due to our itinerary). Following checkout we were able to leave our car in the secure parking lot until 2pm, enabling us to visit the stunning Roman theatre, which was just a short walk from the hotel. A faultless stay. Thank you.
"Nice hotel in centre of town"
Lovely friendly hotel that was in a great location. The hotel was clean and felt like the downstairs communal area had been renovated. Our bedroom was a good size, with a terrace and comfortable beds. In a great location for everything in Orange.
"Great location and lovely restaurant terrace"
The hotel is in the heart of Orange, quick strolls away from both the Roman theater and the Arc de Triomphe. I stayed in a tiny single room which wqs okay for one night without luggage but wouldn't be able to fit a proper sized suitcase. Had dinner in the hotel restaurant which has a lovely huge terrace in front of the main entrance and it was a lovely experience on a balmy summer night. The fish with ratatouille was nicely done, nothing too creative, just tasty French food paired perfectly with a glass of rose. The restaurant staff seemed a bit overwhelmed on a busy Saturday service but overall the hotel staff was very kind and welcoming. Sightseeing overwrote the breakfast plans but based on the dinner's quality, it is probably a worthy experience for 17 euros. The room was fairly pricey but nothing unexpected on a summer weekend with a festival and concerts in town. Would happily stay here again on a return trip to Orange.
"Nice hotel, with one major issue..."
This hotel is nicely located in the center of Orange, in easy walking distance to the Roman Theatre, Place de La République, and other attractions. The rooms were clean and spacious enough. Breakfast was good and the staff was friendly. I would like to recommend the Grand Hotel d'Orange, but I cannot. We stayed here in August when the high temps were close to 38 degrees (~100 F) into the late afternoon. However the hotel policy prohibits guests from individually lowering the thermostat. As a result two of our rooms were uncomfortably warm, even overnight, and made our stay much less pleasant than it otherwise would have been. I was told this is part of their "Green Key" sustainability policy and there were no exceptions -- regardless of the ongoing record heat wave. We appreciate the climate friendly efforts but under the circumstances this seemed more like virtue signaling. There are other ways the hotel could address worthy climate goals that don't make the guest experience so unpleasant. Hopefully some common sense will prevail in the future.
"Charming peaceful hotel in the centre of Orange"
Le grand hôtel orange Charming hotel, in a peaceful square in the heart of Orange. Well positioned to walk anywhere in the town. We received a warm helpful welcome and found all the staff very helpful taking pride in offering the best experience. The room was small but absolutely charming with a small balcony with a table and two chairs. Idyllic. The bathroom spotlessly clean, modern with shower and also charming offering my favourite L'occitane products to use during our stay including shampoo, conditioner and body lotion! Tea and coffee making facilities. Good powerful hairdryer and plenty of power points. Breakfast offered seating outside in the shady square that was delightful. However, the only disappointment was the poor breakfast that was short on healthy options. NO cut fresh fruit! Just a few apples in a bowl. Only sugary yoghurt until I asked and was supplied some fromage frais. Only cheese was a tiny slice of brie that quickly disappeared. Not refilled. Bread just white. I cleared the table myself. Think breakfast experience needs improvement to align with the high standards set elsewhere. All in all highly recommended and the town an absolute delight!
"Disappointing experience."
A place we stayed at a couple of times over the years was now somewhat disappointing. The location is obviously great and room was as expected, but the first evening we could not book a table at the restaurant. They claimed they had two big groups. When we returned from another restaurant, it didn't seem like there were two big groups there. The next day, when we returned from our morning activities, the room had not been cleaned, so when we left a few hours later we left the sign we wanted the room cleaned. Upon our return, still no clean Roon, so we asked reception. It should have been cleaned in the morning, but apparently they could not get it cleaned anymore in the afternoon. This was a disappointing experience, next time in Orange we may have to look for a different hotel.
Dear Sir or Madam , We are sorry to read that your stay in our house did not live up to your expectations. We sincerely apologize and understand your disappointment. We take note of your comments so that this does not happen again in the future. Yours sincerely ,The reception team
"Outstanding Staff, atmosphere and value."
A romantic time machine memory or a safe, relaxing, day or two of unwinding the Grand Hotel d'Orange is the place to stay. Wonderful breakfast, best bacon in France. A great place to visit at a reasonable price. Limited parking so reserve ahead of time!
Dear Sir, Many thanks for answering our satisfaction questionnaire and for the good review. Your satisfaction is important to us. We hope to welcome you in the next future. Best Regards, Reception Team.
"Perfect situated in old town."
Perfect situated in old town close to the ancient theater and the old church. Very ice small shops in the narrow streets next to the hotel. The restaurant was excellent, the food was inn top class. A smell in the room made the stay uncomfortable .
Dear Madam, Sir, many thanks for taking the time to answer our satisfaction questionnnaire. We are sorry that your stay didn't meet your expectation. Did you ask to reception to change room ? We hope to welcome you again in the next future to offer you a better experience Best regards Team reception
"Nice hotel, great location and good food!!"
To stay in a Best Western collection hotel is always a gratifying and satisfying experience - spacious room, comfy bed, bed linens not as smelly as other bed sheets in other 4-star hotels, big tiled bedroom, clean and AC is quiet. Good restaurant to have a delicious meal, pleased we had a friendly Indian guy of Tibet origin to serve us. Front desk staff are obliging, but more smiles from them are needed to create a happy atmosphere and ambiance. Overall, it's a nice hotel to stay in historical Orange, nice location, quiet area and walking distance to restaurants, shops, etc. And most of all, a walking distance to the Antique Theater, a big plus!!
Dear Sir , We would like to thank you for taking the time to share your experience during your stay with us. We look forward to welcoming you back to our beautiful home. Yours faithfully Yovelina MINODIER , Reception Manager
"Awful experience with the staff and condition in the hotel"
I would recommend people stay away from the hotel. it was an awful experience. The room I got was nothing like what you'd expect from a 4-star hotel. It was in a separate building on the ground floor and a window with the bar in front, people pass by and watch you all the time. This terrible condition make I feel like I am in a prison. The main door of the building was left unlocked, which is a huge security risk. This is completely unacceptable for guest safety. When I spoke to the staff, they dismissed me by saying I had requested a “classic room,” and you also booked the room today, I cannot give you other room. In stead of assisting, the staff started to defend and never listen. This response was unacceptable and showed a complete disregard for guest safety and comfort. I couldn't sleep all night because I felt unsafe. Best Western needs to review their safety and security protocols immediately. The current standards are way below what's expected of a 4-star hotel. Misleading guests about room categories and neglecting their safety is inexcusable. I hope they take serious action to fix these issues. #WorstHotelStay #BestWestern #HotelReview #Unsafe #PoorService
Dear Mrs LEE, First of all, we would like to thank you for taking the time to share with us your experience during your stay in our beautiful house. We are very sorry to hear that your expectations were not met. Regarding the "bar in front of your room" - we can assure you, dear Mrs LEE, that there is no bar in front of your room. Indeed, our hotel is atypical and we have several adjoining buildings. Each room in each building is certified in accordance with European "4-star hotel" standard requirements. Regarding the locking of your door (security point), the locking is done from the inside of the entrance door. There are two bedrooms in this annexe. If one of the rooms unlocks the lock, of course the door will remain open because the automatic locking system has been removed. We would like to assure you that we will not in any way "mislead" our guests, as all our services meet the strictest requirements, which are regularly checked and controlled: by government bodies and internally by Best Western. Consequently, your remark is highly inappropriate and unjustified. Lastly, your remark about the staff "not being attentive to your request". After checking, despite the staff's best efforts to upgrade you to another room, there was no possibility of doing so as the hotel was fully booked. We sincerely apologise for this. We hope that there were some positive points that you could share with us during your next stay. Kind regards, Yovelina MINODIER Reception Manager
"MOST AMAZING STAFF EVER."
The hotel was nice. The wine was great. The location is awesome. THE STAFF IS THE BEST HOTEL STAFF I HAVE EVER SEEN. The women at the front desk went so far above and beyond that I was consistently impressed. I'd give them 10 stars if I could!!!!!
"Perfect Provence Hotel"
Located very close to the centre pf Orange, our x3 nighht stay at Hotel d'Orange was an excellent. Recently refurbished and renamed the Hotel d'Orange has great Provencale character and makes a very good base from which to explore this small but beautiful town and the surrounding area. Staff were very helpful too.
"Air-conditioning tuned off with 25°c outside!"
Very nice hotel with a modern decoration and cosy atmosphere. Well located in the center, close to the Roman amphitheater. The down side is the air-conditioning that was turn off when it was unusually hot for the season. The top Management did not inform the guests when the decision was taken early on based on dates in a calendar rather than on the temperatures and the forecast. The Top Management decided deliberately not to turn on it again despite several clients' complaints. Pity for a 4 star hotel!
"Nice hotel but…"
Nice hotel in a good location. Staff helpful. Don't rely on getting secure parking. We had to park on the street - they said there are only 14 spaces. Our room was fine, however, it was a trek across the pool area and up two flights of windy stairs. Most rooms have lift access so worth checking when you book.
"A beautiful hotel near the Theatre Antique"
We enjoyed our breakfast outside under the lovely trees. The family room was large and comfortable. The theater is a few minutes walk through a lovely city. We enjoyed a concert and an opera while we were here. Lots of nice shops in the area.
"Un hotel parfait"
Absolutely recommend this hotel. Everything was simply perfect from the warm welcome to the easy check-out. Every detail in the rooms was well thought-out and executed. The room was very large and well equipped, the amenities were plentiful and of the highest quality. Breakfast offered a wide variety for all dietary requirements. It was truly a wonderful place to stay.
Thank you very much for your nice comment. Hope to welcome you back soon. Best regards
