I know this review is a bit late, but still wanted to do. Location was nice (just a 15mins walk away from the main square) tho if you go to zagreb during summer peak ( i don't think its a nice way to walk that 15mins away that nearly felt like half an hr for us just because of the heat, feels like your in an oven) nothing to do with the hotel it self but just the location. Hotel was amazing, great bed to rest after a long day out. Big rooms too. Breakfast was amazing plenty to choose from. Bathroom was clean.
Reception staff throughout our 2 night stay were all rather dour; one was quite dismissive. Not a good first and last impression. However, bar, restaurant and service staff were very accomodating. It may be time for them to give reception staff a seminar on PR. Otherwise our stay was very nice. Maybe because it is an older property, the hotel has only 1 elevator, thus making wait times problematic.
My husband and I have just returned from a vacation in Croatia. We stayed a few nights at the Astoria . Lovely room , great location, very good breakfast buffet and pleasant staff. Would definitely recommend. We were able to walk to old town Zagreb which gave us many options for restaurants and lots of sight seeing.
First of all, I will write that the hotel is especially beautifully decorated in an old-fashioned way, but really nice. We were in a spacious room with a comfortable bed. The pillows are excellent. The bedding is clean. Unfortunately, they need to work on the cleanliness of the bathroom...we are constantly on trips and I have never encountered such faults in the hotels we stay in. The glass in the bathtub was covered with drops that had already dried and scale that had not been removed and washed for a long time. The toilet paper roll was covered with a finger of dust inside the lid, the tray on which the shampoos stand is also covered with dust on the edges, the faucets are clean only above, below they have a lot of dirt and limescale. The entrance door (inside) and the bathroom door are full of finger stains and this is completely visible during the day. The rest was clean. I definitely recommend the new head of the housekeeping staff! The staff is professional and clear in their instructions at the reception, although they could be a little more friendly and smiling. The bar is pleasant, but the sofas need renovation. The biggest advantages of the hotel are an EXTREMELY good and rich breakfast and a free, private parking lot that is connected to the entrance to the hotel.
The decor is old style charming French look. Great location near city centre n train station. 10 min walk to central square. We are vegetarian and requested to heat our packed food. They did and gave complimentary bread to eat. Breakfast is a feast and sparkling wine in breakfast was icing on the cake. Only negative part is the aircon is very poor. It was too too hot in the room. The aircon temperature is centrally operated and it is 25° fixed which is very hot in Aug. Hotel need to check on Aircon or let guest fix their room temperature of guest choice. Rooms are very small and there is no balcony also view from the room is very bad. Staff is very courteous and helpful.
The hotel is well located just minutes walk distance to the city center. The breakfast has a good variety but has nothing to be excited about. Room size is generous so the huge double bed. However, the entire decoration is in old soviet style. It's more to impress by size and red colour but less by comfort. The bathroom is big but less practical than could be if modernized. The hotel has free parking which's a benefit.
The hotel is excellent with professional staff at all levels. On this very hot day, cold fresh lemon/orange water was available for guests at the lobby level. My room faced the backyard and was very quiet. In room coffee maker. Great choice of foreign TV channels. Good sized desk with charging outlets for iPhones and alike. Unlike most hotels, this hotel had pen and paper in the room, which comes in very handy. This seems to be a thing most hotels have dropped, in order to cut cost, although this was not the case at this hotel. The bathroom was also super clean and had very good amenities. The bed was excellent and to the hard side, which is good for a person's back and a good sleep. Breakfast was a chapter on its own. The food was exquisite and made of very high ingredients, indeed the cheese selection was way above average of similar hotels in Croatia. All in all a fantastic hotel.
This is our 3rd morning here and I can't say enough about this hotel. We have a large suite that sleeps 3 that has a king bed, twin bed, sofa, desk and dining table that seats six people. This has been wonderful to have snacks with and just relax. Staff goes out of their way to help and get you anything you need to ensure your stay is pleasant. We usually stay at a Westin or Marriott, however, this hotel is above those standards. Seriously, a great hotel! The bathroom is very nice with all marble and they supply all products - shampoo, conditioner, lotion, etc. Now the BEST part, the breakfast!!! This is wonderful. The buffet just doesn't stop! Breads, cheeses, meats, fruits, vegetables, pancakes, French toast, sausages, bacon, eggs, potatoes. It goes on and on. Oh and they have champagne 🍾 for breakfast too!
Great room with great service. We had to leave early in the morning to catch a train and the staff went out of their way to take care of us. They had, to go lunches packed for us when we came down stairs in the morning. I was so impressed with the thoughtfulness. The hotel is walking distance to the train station. We will definitely stay here again.
Excellent breakfast with wide selection of foods and coffees. Very clean room. Parking in secure area. Friendly helpful staff. Very near city centre, walk everywhere. Lots of places to eat nearby. Stayed one night and would stay again in future.
Great welcome and staff helpfully recommended a excellent nearby restaurant where we got good value local dishes. Very convenient for city centre and parks. Excellent buffet breakfast. Room clean, well appointed and spacious. Free, secure parking at rear of hotel.
Beautiful hotel. Beds, were very comfy and the breakfast was outstanding! The water pressure and temperature of the showers were great! The staff was friendly and helpful. Located in a very nice area, perfect for walking as there so many places to see and things to do. Beautiful area very quiet, relaxing, and peaceful.
Lovely older hotel, very comfortable, great location near Zagreb city centre. A very clean comfortable room which had great air con, bathroom and comfortable beds. The best hotel breakfast I have ever had, it had everything you could want. Therefore great value for money.
Terrible hotel We were accommodated in a different room than the one booked - smaller and with single beds, not king size. We asked for a change of room and were put in the same one, with beds pushed together and a terrible view of a crumbling building. The wifi password was not working. The hotel is old and dirty. The receptionist was not welcoming. I advise you to find another hotel in Zagreb. I have never visited such a bad hotel from the Best Western chain.
Nice traditional hotel. Staff on the front desk were very helpful and the restaurant staff efficient. Quite a few sockets in the bedroom which was handy for charging electronic items. One thing I would change however is the width of the duvet on the bed as unless you slept curled up to the person next to you, only one of you kept it as it was not wide enough. We got around this by using the blanket provided but it did seem odd as the bed was a lovely size with great pillows! A 10 minute walk from the main square made getting into central Zagreb really easy. We were in room 330 - our view was straight into a plain wall. For us that was no big deal as it kept the sun out and meant we were not over looked by anyone! I would stay at this hotel again but I would suggest unless you have an unlimited budget, you only eat a main meal in the restaurant as a last resort, as whilst the food is good and nicely presented, prices in here and the bar are high - but not unusual bearing in mind it is a 4* hotel.
we stayed at this nice central Zagreb Hotel for 2 nights It was spot lees every thing worked well rooms are a bit small bur well appointed And Barhrooms are confortable clean and offer amenities Lobby staff was profesional but a bit unpersonal And breakfast room staff some could be even RUDE during Buffett time Food was good and specially breakfast had a quite nice offer This hotel is popular with Tour Groups In all we had a good stay
Very close to the city center. Decent rooms, extensive breakfast. I personally like the style of this hotel, it gives quite a historical feel. You can park behind the hotel on a private parking spot if you book this in advance.
I don't what I was expecting, but our stay here was top-notch. We were upgraded and ended up with a beautiful, super comfortable room. The staff was very pleasant and helpful, and the breakfast spread was Best Western-worthy and delicious! My husband and I hope to stay here again. It was that good!
The roomssre surprisingly small and not so cleverly cut, you must be “petite” which Inam not to get past the chair of the desk, there are not enough electrical outlets niwadays Hotels must calculate with the need to charge tje phone and the IPad, the hot wster kettle has to stand on the floor for cooking, and there sre no complementsry water-bottlesin the rooms the tap water in Xagreb is drinhable but who dares to try?
This hotel is great. Handily located to the local sites, we were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go. The room was well appointed and very comfortable. The breakfast buffet was excellent, one of the best I have had.
When I state 'another era', I mean a property that still is classically decorated. Real wood furnishings - not today's minimalist furnishings. The property is seemingly well maintained. My room and bathroom were of adequate size. Check-in/out was professional and friendly. And I don't normally eat evening meals in a hotel, but since the weather was bad, I had a really good burger in the bar area. The buffet breakfast was quite good, but I am not clear on the circumstances that I received it - either because of my Diamond status, or everyone gets breakfast. With regards to parking, I am generally of the belief that street parking or public parking is less expensive than hotel parking. I went with my assumption and didn't do any research. I parked in a public lot, 1 block on the same street, for less than 24 hours and it was a whooping 50 Euros! In addition, while I was walking around, I noticed that street parking was free after 3 PM on Saturday and all day Sunday. FYI... My only negative is that there are no plugs at the bedside. Yes, this is an older property, but we are so dependent on our phones, including for an alarm clock, that having bed side plugs is really important. I've stayed in other older properties and plugs have been provided with decorative wire molding so that the modifications are not unsightly. I am sure this property could do the same.
We were pleasantly surprised at what an excellent experience we had at this hotel. 1. Great location. Easy to walk into center of city to see all of the sights and restaurants. 2. Very nice large room with nice amenities. 3. Reasonable price for what we got. 4. Fantastic breakfast buffet as part of the rate. We were amazed at the variety of foods on this buffet. They even had make your own mimosas! 5. Super friendly staff that helped us with checking in and storing luggage. Only downside was mysterious 3 euro charged that appeared after we checked out. Never used the mini bar so wondering what that could be and have not had chance to follow up. Highly recommended!
A fantastic stay with fine service and a spectacular morning breakfast buffet. Towels were fluffy and plentiful, check-in efficient, room was quiet and bed was cozy. Great ‘extras' in bath, and minibar was relatively cheap. After 2 nights here, we had to move to hotel Dubrovnik for the first two nights of our tour and it's quite a let-down from Astoria!! And astoria is MUCH better priced!
Arrived early and staff were very responsive and stored luggage. Hotel is not to far from old town. Surrounding areas a bit run down but safe. Dated but well maintained rooms and small bathroom. Breakfast very good. Air con was a disaster however.
Very clean lovely rooms fabulous breakfast. Very helpful and friendly staff. Only 1 negative. Every empty table top is covered by a folder menu kettle chips etc to buy so no where to put anything. Also no drawer space. Only a wardrobe to hang things. Still would stay again
Our first night in Croatia, pleased with nice spacious accommodations, friendly staff with good restaurant recommendations, very excellent breakfast! Good location. would definitely stay there again.
Centrally located, it is a 5min/400m walk from the Zagreb Main railway station (Zagreb Glavni kolodvor) and a 10min/800m walk to the central town square, Ban Jelačić Square. Built in 1932, the hotel has a dated elegance, and provides a weary traveller with a quiet, peaceful atmosphere to relax. It oozes character with lots of polished wood panelling and sparkling brass. The rooms themselves are relatively small, possibly because they were crammed with heavy wood furniture. As the a/c in our first room was set at an unbearable 28C they quickly switched us to a room on one of the lower floors. The views were overlooking the roofs of buildings in the adjoining courtyard. The bathrooms appear to have been refurbished so weren't as dated as the rest of the hotel. The rooms, hallway and lobby were kept very clean and we had no issues with the WiFi, which you sometimes get with older hotels. The hotel breakfast provided a good selection of cheese, meat, eggs, vegetables, fruits and bread. The staff were constantly making sure everything was refreshed.
The hotel was in a good position and only 10 minutes walk to the old town. Rooms were clean but view from our window was into other people's houses. Room was adequate size and bathroom was clean. The buffet breakfast was great and there was a lot of choice. There was a lot of choice both in the hot and cold selections. There was even champagne available. The reception staff were great and were very helpful. There are convenience stores very close to the hotel.
A stylish hotel with dated elegance, close to the old town centre and train station. Charming foyer with Yamaha piano playing a selection of melodies added to the ambience. Rooms and bathroom quite small but comfortable. Breakfast very good, with plenty of selection and staff very attentive.
Nice lobby and was clean with a good location to the main square approx 10 mins. I had a single room; Very Small room No socket for kettle console moved it to desk No socket next to bed for phone charging. Kept waking up to check time no clock and phone wasn't close by. Shower cubicle small and tight. Breakfast quality is poor watered down diluted orange juice, croissants not fully baked, fried eggs still raw cooked only on one side, cheese taste like rubber. Bar, restaurant and reception staff (house keeping) all close at 10. Staff are hard working, but not attentive. However Shout out to Robert and Valentina (best chocolate moouse) who work hard and do their best. I felt The staff working hard but very demotivated. Note to management. Ie I requested tea bags and on both occasions they were unable to supply. (One green tea and black tea) Overall It's clean, location isn't bad and breakfast is poor. Don't think I would come back. Not worth £90 a night.
This hotel is about 90 years old but looks like it opened yesterday. Everything was immaculate - lots of gleaming wood and sparkling brass. The player piano softly playing in the lobby was a Yamaha. When I travel in Europe I prefer to stay a hotel with some individual character rather than a cookie-cutter clone of an American chain hotel. This hotel fits the requirement perfectly. The rooms are compact but comfortable. Great breakfast with an eclectic variety with enough different items that should satisfy everyone. The staff was professional and incredibly accommodating.
It is a super classy hotel located at the centre of Zagreb. There is secure free parking at the hotel premises. The staff was very polite and helpful. The breakfast was amazing. The room was clean and bed was very comfortable. Wifi was spotless.
I have stayed at this hotel for four nights and have had a wonderful time here. The room I had was so comfortable. So many lights. The bathroom was small and I had a bit of a struggle turning around in the shower. I am a big man. Breakfast was delicious. The staff in the kitchen and the dining room staff were simply the best. And the reception staff were equally as good. Their understanding of English was so good that they even could understand me. I do speak quite fast and do mumble my words. Robert and Martina and Lucia were my standouts. As well as the rest of the crew who are employed here. This is my last day in Croatia and I feel a little teary. Thanks to all at the Best Western Astoria Zagreb.
This was my third stay at Hotel Astoria (first post-pandemic). The hotel follows all cleaning procedures and is very well maintained. I was very happy that the breakfast buffet had not changed too much and the selections and quality of the food presented was excellent. The room was very nice and kept clean. The entire staff are very friendly and helpful. I would definitely book a stay here again in the future.
They aren't exaggerating when they say "Premier" in the name. I was fortunate enough somehow to receive a complimentary room upgrade--specifically, a DOUBLE room upgrade--and, this is like no other room I have ever stayed in. The square footage was two to three times the usual single room, clearly qualifying as a suite and since I was traveling solo, I was spoiled for choice on where to sit. There was a couch, two easy chairs, a desk, another chair, an ottoman, a huge bed, a huge TV, etc., etc. Complimentary breakfast was plentiful in the morning, with very attentive staff running around keeping everything going smoothly. Front desk personnel were always smiling and helpful, answering all questions from me and other guests. Location was excellent, just a couple of blocks from the train station and an easy tram ride to the bus station. It was only 10 to 20 minutes to walk to most of the tourist sights one would wish to see. I especially want to mention Robert, a relatively new clerk I think, who worked the overnight shift and was very helpful in making my stay special and answering all my questions. He exemplifies the quality that Best Western is known for. This location is an excellent value: location, cleanliness, service, breakfast, and comfort. Book it early! I'll stay here again next time I am in Zagreb.
Best Western Premier Hotel Astoria is a very good hotel, in walking distance from the city center (7-8 minutes). My room was very good, with a comfortable bed and it was a spacious room, with comfortable chairs. Insulation from outside noise was perfect. The bathroom was good, too. Breakfast was excellent, with many choices available. Staff was efficient and friendly.
The hotel has a great situation walking distance from main square. Our bed was comfortable but the room was quite small and crammed with furniture making it a bit difficult with our luggage. Breakfast was excellent and the staff were helpful and pleasant
Superb hotel that delivers far more than outside appearances led us to believe. Beautiful rooms in a convenient location. Great staff, excellent cleanliness, great breakfast! Rooms were spacious and we'll equipped. Classy lobby, too.
We arrived at 230 pm and our room wasn't ready a disconnect with hotel lobby snd house keeping. We were on a tour with 14 other people, most people hadn't arrived. After travelling 30hours we were pretty exhausted. I asked for another room and perhaps they could swap us with another couple. We were informed rooms not available and to consider waiting. Eventually we were allocated a room on the 5th floor. Less road noise, but we had twin beds and my mattress was like a banana. I had the worse sleep and my back in caning. The curtain partly disconnected when I tried to cover the light coming in through the window. The food buffet style homely and tasty a bit overcooked, though the flavour was there. The staff appeared to be a bit on edge; from reception to the waitresses to housekeeping to waiter. I I am not sure I would recommend this hotel. Adequately situated, although a bit of a hike to major attractions.
Comfortable, clean, and awesome breakfast! We only stayed one night, but enjoyed the evening. The hotel is close to all the sights. We walked everywhere and nothing was far at all. The city is compact so it's easy to get around on foot. Our room was great. We accidentally got a room with twin beds but it was only one night so we were fine. The room was quite spacious for a European hotel. The shower would be a little small if you're a large person. We're not so the shower was perfect. This is the nicest Best Western that I have been in. Also, the breakfast was amazing!! We had a glass of champagne with our breakfast. We definitely would stay again.
Room is clean, comfortable, bed fabulous, pillows great, hot water & pressure brilliant. Breakfast had everything and more. Service was fab. Our luggage didn't arrive on flights, but the ladies on the front desk were super helpful. Supplied toothbrushes, toothpaste, combs, razors all basics. Showed us where to get more supplies just down the road at DM. If i had one bad thing to say, the shower was a little cramped, but that's nothing.
Stayed at this Hotel, that was organised by TripADeal/Elite Travel. Stayed 2 nights before setting off to see the rest of Croatia & Slovenia. Centrally located, lovely Reception area and first class dining area. Terrific breakfast with large selection at buffet. Helpful staff who could speak English. Very nice room, well furnished and comfortable king sized bed. Smaller shower cubicle which we found a bit cramped.
The hotel could do with a refresh as the carpet and walls are showing their age. However the bed wss very comfortable and the bathroom clean and tidy. The staff were very helpful and the hotel breakfast had a large range of tasty options. I would stay here again. Some USB power points in the room would be a welcome addition.
The room was adequate and the bed comfortable. The bathroom was tiny, including a tiny shower, but both were clean. The breakfast buffet was expansive and had great food. Location couldn't be better, easy walking distance to everything.
To tell in just one word: perfect. Very good breakfast, good and safe parking, very friendly staff, city center in walking distance and very spacious, clean and well equipped rooms. The only "not-so-good" thing is, that there is only one elevator for the hotel guests. But everything else is just fantastic!
We stayed here for four days. Very nice hotel. Attentive and helpful staff. Great breakfast spread. Everyone were so nice and our late check in was done without any hassles. The hotel arranged a taxi to pick us up at the airport.
1) good location (lower town but walking distance to everything) 2) luxurious breakfast (incl champagne & caviar !) 3) own parking- super convenient if you are on wheels 4)overall professional service
Our room was very spacious, clean, and quiet. The staff brought up an iron/ironing board the moment we requested it so we could iron our clothes. The breakfast every morning was delicious and all of the staff are very attentive. The hotel is in walking distance of the main square, train station, bus station, and mall. The only negative was the first night they had run out of parking so we had to park in a public garage, but the staff pointed it out to us and it was also very close.
The hotel is based on a walking distance from the city center. The parking, althought is working with a first come first served policy, is very useful if you want to leave your car as we did and walk through Zagreb . The rooms, even if they are not very spacious, the are ok. The breakfast is excellent and the stuff very polite.
We only have good things to say about this place: given the price I was not expecting much but our family was so impressed by the size of the room and the choices of breakfast. 4 min to train station which was important to us as we don or want to drag luggages on hot summer days. Only about 10 min walk to city center, not an issue at all. Plenty of eateries around and at city center square
We stayed at the Best Western Astoria hotel on the last two nights of our recent three-week trip to Croatia. It is a lovely hotel at a great price! Extremely well-located and appointed, it was an easy walk to the historic sites, shopping, and restaurants around Jelacic square. The breakfast buffet (included) was worth the price of the room. Absolutely huge selection of breakfast items from european, mediterranean, middle-eastern, and american cuisine. The staff were helpful and friendly, and the parking was on-site, easy to find, and included in the price. Highly recommend.
We stayed in the Executive Room and it was great - the room was spacious, clean, very well equipped, the hotel is in a great location - everything is close by and there is private parking, and most importantly the staff is very helpful. All in all, a very enjoyable experience.
We were there for just one night. The room were very spacious and well appointed. the location of the hotel was also great, just walking distance from the city center. Front desk was friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was elaborate and great. The hotel was super busy. Had an enjoyable stay.
This is a very nice hotel to stay at in Zagreb, and the front desk staff was super-friendly and helpful. The hotel is only a 10 minute walk to the town center in one direction, and a 5 minute walk to the train station in the opposite direction. We were very pleased with our stay here.
We stayed in this hotel for several nights. It has a great location, just a few blocks walk to the main city center. The hotel has a small but elegant public area. Decorated in marble, wood and fine fabrics, there are two elevators that serve the upper floors. Our room was comfortable and well-appointed. It supplied everything that we could want. Our reservation included dinner in the hotel restaurant. The buffet had typical Croatian dishes, including the best pork roast I have eaten! Breakfast was also included. There were a variety of hot dishes and the usual fruits, breads, meats, cheeses, and pastries. Plus you can top your plate off with caviar and champagne. My only complaint is that I stopped by the bar for a drink. The bar does not seem to be in general use and the man attending did not know what he was doing. A martini is a simple cocktail but it seems that no one in Europe knows how to make one. Nevertheless, I rate this hotel very highly for its location and comfort.
I'm not a big fan of the Best Western brand but this hotel was exceptional. The service at the front desk and breakfast room was outstanding. The rooms were spotless, well designed and equipped and the ambience of the common areas classic Croatian.
Great service and beautiful lovingly maintained property. We highly recommend and would definitely stay there again. Very convenient to train station, pleasant walk along a beautiful park to get to the central square.
Yes, it's an old building, with rooms majorly in need of an upgrade. My room was full of furniture, but the little table for my laptop was barely big enough for my laptop! The rest of the furniture in the room was useless and unused, because I am a solo traveler. The bathroom was well-fitted and the shower was great. The breakfast serving staff were very hospitable and welcoming, and the food was amazing. I did not have lunch because I was unsure of the open hours and menu. Because of my gluten and lactose intolerances I had à la carte chicken breast and potatoes for dinner. The first night I had ground beef, but it was so thin and cooked so long, that it was virtually impossible to eat. The evening chicken dinner was well priced. Morning breakfast was part of the room rate. The Internet service was pretty bad. What took me a few hours to figure out: there is the most amazing underground shopping mall just a five minute walk away! Under and around the train station is this amazing underground shopping mall with 200 full-size stores. Not just stalls in the hallways but actual full-size stores with display windows. There were grocery stores, green grocers, pharmacy, media, men's and women's clothing, and even an aquarium in the middle of a hallway to take your mind off of the franticness of a mall. I did not have luck finding a consumer electronics store! Outdoors is the ZET office where you can buy your tram pass for Zagreb.
What a lovely hotel! The location is excellent for walking in the Old Town. The staff at the front desk were helpful, assisting us with a map for walking the area. The decor in the lobby was lovely as was that in our very large room. We arrived hungry in the early afternoon and Lucas, in the dining room, made us very welcome. Everything and everyone in this hotel was exceptional and exceeded our expectations!! The breakfast was outstanding, probably the best we've ever had.
Reception was bad at this time with rude attitude…. I was almost going to rate it 5 star, but sadly I'm going to put ZERO star just for her attitude…. This kind of person should not be in front of the desk …
Located well in the center with parking places which is good but the hotel is realy outdated and looks like you came in 1980s. The room is rather small with a window which you can partly open but was to the street so is rather noisy if you keep it open. The bathroom size wise reasonable but shower was not much. Hotel with heavy drapes and carpets and so on, meeting rooms are as well small and stuffy. Breakfast is decent with good choice, and was tasty and rather good coffea and a undrinkable orange juice or better said colored water. It is cheap but still not worth it.
We stayed for 5 nights over the festive period to celebrate New Year in Zagreb. The hotel is fantastic, both from a location perspective and a service one. It's just a five-minute walk from the train station, park and around ten minutes to the main square that marks the start of the old town. The staff are extremely friendly, knowledgable and ready to help with any question you have. They even told us where we could get a Covid lateral flow/antigen test. Our room was a deluxe one on the 4th floor, nice comfortable bed, spacious, clean and the bathroom was great too. Housekeeping replenished towels and toiletries every day without having to be asked. Breakfast was included in our rate and the choice was fantastic - local Croatian meats, cheeses, hot food, fruit salads, breads etc. Even sparkling wine, should that take your fancy. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at this property and would have no hesitation in returning or in recommending others to stay there. One small thing to note is that you may have to pay a tourist tax of 12 kuna per adult per day if it isn't already included in your rate.
Clean, comfortable and friendly. This hotel has pretty much all you need for a stay in Zagreb. Staff were very polite, rooms were of okay size and it was clean. Great location also, only a short walk from the main square through a beautiful park that had some wondrous Christmas lights. Only issue I faced was the breakfast, the omelette had egg shell in it which was rather off putting, and the bacon was quite oily. Very good selection of breakfast though, cereals, hot food, pastries and continental options were available. Overall I would recommend the Astoria for anyone who would like a nice base for exploring the city.
Great hotel in the middle of Zagreb. Perfect location, free parking space. The rooms are perfectly clean and nice, the breakfast is AMAZING. The beds are comfortable, the rooms are silent. The staff is helpful and speaks well English.
This hotel is fairly close to the center. the rooms are small but adequate. They have everything you might need, clean, good bed, big towels. The breakfast was good and there is a nice bar where you can sit and have a drink. The staff is unobtrusive. There is a lovely park nearby where we had a picnic. Restaurants and bars are close by also.
I stayed at Best Western for 3 nights as a single traveler. It seems that my room for one person was smaller than the ones that my friends had as a couple, although I paid the same rate. The room and bathroom were alright, a little bit aged but clean. The hotel location was good, walkable distance to restaurants and shops. Breakfast was alright. The room had enough outlets for charging. Shampoo and Conditioner should be labelled clearly as it was very hard to read the labels. In the overall my stay was alright at Best Western Premier Astoria.
so, you are within walking distance to the city center, museums and Old Town. The hotel is well maintained. The only complaint I have is the small space. The room is very tight. If you have to share, you may play bumper cars. The bathroom sink is almost in your face as you sit on the toilet. You cannot cool the room as the owners incorporated a temperature limiter. You cannot go below 24 C. I resorted to open up the window to cool the room down. I am part of a traveling group.
This is a great hotel within a short walk of Jelacic Square and the old town. It isn't too far from the lower town either. It has a good buffet breakfast and the rooms are comfortable. I would definitely stay here again.
The location of this hotel and parking facilities make this an ideal place to stay when visiting Zagreb. We were offered a parking space on the hotel premises which was covered and secure. Big cars may find it difficult to Park here but there are plenty of public parking garages around the hotel. The room was clean and the beds were very comfortable. The breakfast was great and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
My Croatian family say I complain too much about Croatian customer service. But, then I tell them about how much I love the Astoria in Zagreb. Consistent. Consistent. Consistent. The breakfasts are amazing. The staff are helpful. And when you need to add days or adjust your stay, there's no issue. And they are polite. Period. I have been staying here when I'm not in Split - Zagreb has become my second home. It's so convenient (close the main trg and everything in between). Thanks again guys! Hope to see you soon.
Excellent location and very comfortable stay for 1 night in Zagreb, perfectly lateral to the upper and lower Zagreb for all the sites. The hotel has a dedicated drop off and car park facilities to the rear. Hotel room was very clean and well maintained with complimentary tea and coffee facilities, stocked mini bar, nice toiletries, safe and desk with good wardrobe and hanging space. Bed was large and comfortable with multiple pillows. Breakfast was included and due to the COVID19 measures you are allowed to browse the breakfast but you are not allowed to touch, a member of staff makes it for you. The breakfast itself was delicious and very varied for all needs. The hotel is currently (Aug 2020) under renovations front and rear is in scaffolding however internally we had no noise and no inconvenience so it looks like external work only to bring it up to date with a fresh look. Staff were excellent and friendly with prompt service, the city tax is collected on check out. Not a long stay (only 1 night) but found this hotel a safe choice.
We are at this hotel because of our work trip. It is located near city centre. It is the most important thing why we were picked up this hotel. You can go easily to city centre by walking any time even if night times. Also there are some spots near hotel for hanging out. The room which we stayed was not big enough we expected. It could be bigger. Room cleaning service was not enough, we stayed there for five days even if one day they did not change our sham and bed sheet. Management should take care of more room cleaning. The breakfast was amazing I did not expect such a wide variety breakfast. You can find whatever you want. We had our breakfast everyday before we left hotel. It is a small typical city hotel. If you stay in a city for a few days and would like to stay near city centre you can book a room mind at peace.
Great central location in the centre of Zagreb. Very nice hotel well decorated, very clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms were a little on the small side (shoe box springs to mind) but clean and comfortable. There was no bath and the shower cubicle was again a little small. Breakfast was ok plenty of choice but some of the options not to my taste - Overall for the location staff and cleanliness of the hotel I cannot give anything below 5 out of 5
The location was just a 10 min walk from the center. Friendly staff and there is parking if you have a car . Amazing breakfast . The room is pretty small and so is the bathroom. We were there for one night so it was ok .
Excellent choice for staying in Zagreb. Perfect breakfast, great staff, large rooms, confortable bed and pillows. I definitely recommend this hotel especially for business trips. Also, not to forget the location which is 10 minutes away from the city center.
This is the second tim ewe visited Zagreb so we were somewhat familiar with Zagreb. We were coming to Zagreb mainly to visit the Christmas Market which we have heard so much about. This hotel was in a great location for the Christmas Market. It was literally a two minute walk away from the Chritmas market and about a 10 minute wlak to the center of Zagreb. Sometimes you may think of a Best Western Hotel as an average type chain but this hotel was fantastic. It was just me and my wife and we were upgraded to a Executive room. The rooms were very clean and spacious. The bathroom was big with a nice shower. We had a bed which was very comfortable. The flat screen TV was a Smart TV which allowed streaming from our devices which was nice. The room was very quiet despite having a room facing the street. Breakfast included the nexe moorning and it was very good! I beleie the costs was around $100-$120 which was a great value! Staff was great too. Would definitely recommend you staying at this hotel!
Parking was free and room was well maintained there was complimentary chilled water and mulled wine with gloggi and cookies staff were very professional however the bedsheet in my room was torn but nonetheless very clean so i overlooked that, breakfast was just right and it is very close to the city centre and just right for Advent.
I travel every year to a european christmas market as my last trip of the year. I had already read a lot about Advent in Zagreb. It is a wonderfull and colourfull event. The whole city is a big and joyfull chrsitmas market. The Best western astoria is the perfect hotel for this. The location is perfect; close to the main square and the train station (and all other sights). But it is nevertheless very quiet. This is just a classic good "old" style hotel as you can imagine. service very helpfull, decoration, room everything just RIGHT! Lookingh forward to come to Zgreb and the Astoria in Summer!
First, the service was very nice and helpful. The food was ok , you have a lot of options which i liked. The rooms were very clean and beds comfortable. Near hotel is a street but you don't hear anything which is perfect. I really liked that they have parking lot , which in this town is very hard to find. Lovely experience would recommend to anyone!:)
Just returned from Zagreb and a 3 night stay in this hotel. Great location, 10 mins walk to main SQ. They had complimentaty mulled wine (though some nights it was removed early :-( ). The housekeeper very nice and friendly and kept our room very clean. Would liked a few more than 2 packets of coffee!. We had a suite which was nice (two toilets) however the view was not good but the room was quiet - there is always a playoff. Breakfast was ok, the staff here were not very friendly and very slow to make up tables. Pastries were stale, cooked items apart from one morning the eggs which were good, the rest looked like it had been sitting there for several days. The reception staff were also not terribly friendly apart from one very nice friendly and chatty man - Ilo. What a lovely young man! The other staff should learn from him.
We were coming to experience Advent in Zagreb and we could not have picked a better hotel for us. From the moment we walked into the hotel we were greeted warmly by a very friendly and helpful receptionist. Even though arriving relatively early, our room was ready (I know, not guaranteed - but still very much appreciated). Room (top floor) was very nice and comfortable, quiet and had an "old world charme" to it, a bit of a Grand Hotel flair. Breakfast had a good selection and the team looked out and refilled empty trays quickly. Location was great to start scrolling the various christmas market places. All in all i would say a perfect stay. We would certainly come back: Nice hotel, friendly team, cozy room.
Stayed here for 5 nights to visit Zagreb and their wonderful Christmas Market... This was a wonderful experience for us.. The hotel itself is in a great location, clean, neat, and totally updated and modern. Walking distance to just about everything..Warm wine, cookies and fresh water were available 24/7 in the lobby...Our room for 3 was large, bathroom with tub was just fine, and room was always clean... The highlight was the breakfast offered everyday which was beyond good... American eggs, and bacon as well as total European Breakfast with cheeses, crepes, danish and all versions of sausages and coffee... I wouldn't consider going anywhere else when in Zagreb and I truly hope to be back again someday....Thank You so much for the wonderful memories!
Back in Zagerb I chose this Hotel as on my past visits it was a good place to stay.It is handy to the train station & the bus station which connects with the airport bus is a short tram ride away. Also an easy walk up town.I suggest that Hotel checks switches on bed head as some do not work.
Great hotel, very close to the main square (Trg Bana Jelačića) 10min walk. Quick check in at the reception. Complimentary upgrade to Junior Suite was greatly appreciated, superb and spacious room at the back of the hotel. Very clean which is a must, and I am quite picky about that. Really nice feeling about the hotel. 10 Croatian Kuna tourist tax per person per night, payable on check out. Breakfast, wow absolutely great. You will not go hungry, big choice, from hard boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, various choices of different breads, fruits, local meats, cheese and salami, yoghurts, jams.....and much more. Tip for parents, there is a lovely little shop just across the hotel, called Jasmina i lutkice (Jasmina and dolls), hand made dolls and decorations. You will also receive a discount in the shop as the hotel guest. Travel tip, used public transport bus from the ZAG airport (blue ZET bus), 10 kuna (apx £1.10) one way ticket to the city bought from the bus driver, got off at the last stop Kvarternikov Trg/Square and hoped on to the tram towards Ban Jelačić Square as the bus ticket is also valid for the tram (good for 60 min once validated on the bus), and then 10 walk to the hotel. All in all, great hotel. Will definitely stay here again without any hesitation given its superb location, clenines, great breakfast and kind staff. Great weekend in Zagreb and definitely the hotel made it that bit special as well. Thank you Best Western Astoria
The hotel is very well located, rooms are comfortable. Breakfast is OK, the personnel is excellent. I left one day very early and they prepared me a breakfast box to take with me. The room is not cheap but you have to take into account the other advantages.
Excellent hotel, beautiful, spotless, comfortable and especially quiet. Can not say enough about the excellent staff, friendly, helpful and always professional. The breakfast bar is exceptional and the servers are polite and always helpful. Had dinner there every night as well! Will miss the friendly staff
Loved our three days at this hotel. Clean comfortable room. Very quiet with nice outlook. Within easy walking distance of all the city attractions, restaurants and markets. Really good breakfast included in the very reasonable tariff. Helpful and friendly staff at reception. Loved the older style elegance of the décor.
We stayed in Best Western Premier Hotel Astoria for 1 night. The room is clean, comfort and quiet. Facilities in room are great, comfortable bed. Great breakfast, free private parking. Overall very good, value for money.
We stayed at the Hotel Astoria for one night before our flight home. The ladies at reception were coolly and efficiently professional. The lobby exudes bygone elegance. Our room was a pleasant surprise--twin beds in a thoughtfully laid out room. The hotel was just a 7-10 minute walk to the main square and pedestrian area. Parking was in a secure lot behind the hotel. Sadly, we had to leave for the airport before breakfast.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here in this beautiful hotel. The rooms were beautifully furnished with a nice size bathroom. The location is great: close to restaurants and two markets. The main square is only a 10-15 minute walk. For a hotel serving a breakfast and dinner buffet, the food was very good.
BW Astoria a good choice, centrally located a 20 minutes transfer from Zagreb airport Hotel is located in the heart of all attraction It takes 15 minutes to walk to the Center square Accommodation is clean and rooms in good condition. Bedding firm and bathrooms modern, breakfast has many options and tea and coffee Of good quality. Front desk staff courteous and helpful. A great lobby to relax and listen to the piano Before heading out to town. Overall a great experience 4.5 stars for me I would definitely come back
There are hotels you simply happy just to get a bed to sleep. The BW Premier Hotel Astoria is different. It offers you the best accommodation, the best service, the best amenities, best location and a breakfast buffet suits for Kings. You are in the heart of Zagreb, within walking distance to many monuments, tourist attractions, restaurant and more. I stayed there for several days and it was a memorable experience.
Very close to many of top attractions. The breakfast was of very good quality. All kind of tasting was available. Coffee a top experience. Parking and WiFi included. Rooms clean and tidy cleaned. Beds very comfortable
During our 3 weeks in Europe we stayed in Zagreb for 2 nights at the Best Western. It has a great location, close to shopping and downtown. The room we had which overlooked the street was well appointed and spotless. Some may say the rooms might be on the small size but since when do you spend your time in a hotel room when your on vacation? Personally the room was not small. The breakfast which was included had everything you would want. And the front desk staff were friendly and more than willing to help you with anything.
We had a one night stop over here and found the hotel room comfortable, clean but small. We enjoyed a lovely buffet dinner in their restaurant and as we were flying out early before breakfast service, they packed us two very generous bags of breaky foods which was greatly appreciated. Parking was free in their car park which was great. It was an easy walk into the city from the hotel and we enjoyed an afternoon of exploring and visiting some sights and the markets. Overall a centrally located hotel we would recommend for a short stay.
The hotel is great, the room is spacious, very rich breakfast, it does have parking which is very nice while talking about a Croatian city, the hotel is very close from the main spots to visit and from the tram station if you want to go far away, but the internet inside the room just didn't work and we had to use it in the hotel reception, that's why I'm not giving away a 5 star review, but the rest is fantastic. Ps: it would be nice to stop the automatic piano sometimes, it turns to be annoying at some point.
Although this is a Best Western, it did not feel like a cookie-cutter corporate American hotel. The style is very warm and traditional. We liked the location and the free parking especially because we were driving and it was easy to get in and out, but it is a bit of a walk to the center of town, which was fine for us. Great bed, great big bathroom, and great A/C! Breakfast buffet offered lots of options. Elevator. The staff was very friendly and relaxed, giving us directions now and then. PS There is also a great restaurant across the street, Lari & Penati - be sure to try it!
I stayed here 2 night late Sept. 2019. Great neighborhood, centrally located, within walking distance, and a staff that would be hard to surpass. The restaurant food was excellent and they even gave me a glass of free champagne when some people on a group tour, they were serving, did not show up. My room was clean and well appointed. After 2 nights I transferred to the hotel Jaggerhorn to meet my friends but would have rather remained at the Best Western. Beware: cab drivers are aware that tourists are not totally educated on their currency exchange. I was charged 4 times too much upon entering the city from the bus station.
My husband and I stayed six nights at the Best Western Premier Astoria hotel. Our room was on a fifth floor in the corner. The room was very spacious, well-furnished, and clean. We had TV with lots of English channels, small kettle and supply of tea and coffee which was replenished every day. The room had a safe and free WI-FI. Our bathroom had the smallest shower I ever seen. There were lots of towels in the bathroom and housekeeping was very generous by replacing them every day. We were very happy with housekeeping in general. They cleaned our room very fast every day and everything was spotless. Also, our room had A/C. The reception was knowledgeable and friendly. We had to wait for our room to be ready when we arrived and we were offered coffee and cookies free of charge at the reception area. The hotel also has a business center where one can check in with airline and print boarding passes if needed. The breakfast at the hotel was outstanding. So many options to choose from from. The food was well-cooked as well. The location of the hotel is very convenient- very close to the city center, main attractions, and bus and tram stops. The area around the hotel is very safe. All in all we enjoyed our stay at Best Western Premier Astoria hotel very much and definitely will recommend it to other travelers.
This hotel is well located for walking tours of Zagreb. While the rooms are small, they are comfortable and quiet. The bathrooms, while small, are attractive. The restaurant has a decent dinner buffet and a terrific breakfast. The small touches of complimentary coffee, cookies and water are nice when you return from a long day of touring.
Reception ladies very friendly. Ms Doda checked us in. Bed was the best in Croatia! We had a lovely suite. Restaurant Ragusa staff- Mr Lukas & Ms Marija were fantastic & service amazing . They manage the restaurant so well even with a big group inside. Dinner was excellent. Enjoyed it. Breakfast small but adequate. Loved the banana smoothie. This hotel was our last stop in the last 19 days before flying out. A beautiful gem. They provide a kettle with tea/coffee sachets & also tissue paper! No room slippers.
Turn right walk up the street to see many cafes, wine bars and sights. The rooms are fairly small so you will be shuffling around each other but great bed. Fabulous breakfast quiet an old worldly type of hotel, but certainly will provide what you need.
This hotel is in a central quiet street and it is easy to walk to many attractions within the city. There are also quite a few cafes and restaurants in the immediate area, a patisserie called Cukeraj just up the road was excellent for sandwiches, cakes and ice cream. The hotel upgraded us to a suite, which was a nice treat. The suite was really comfortable and well equipped. Breakfast was good, plenty of hot/cold choices. The reception staff were great and always very helpful with directions and local knowledge of Zagreb. We have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.
The whole experience was just one single pleasure. Apart from very friendly and efficient reception, friendly cleaning staff and a brilliant breakfast buffet. The bedding was the best we had in a long time. And what is better than a good night's rest ... Centrally situated, we explored Zagreb on foot. The area seemed to be quite safe, people were friendly and laughing, we can only recommend thgis one.
this hotel was better situated than first expected..turn right head towards Cathedral & and a whole lot of other sights. Staff very nice & helpful. it was raining the day we arrived, and heading out for dinner, we were stopped and given an umbrella to use ( no charge) Breakfast was Great ! lot's of choices, even has Cappuccino's.
It's a good hotel. You can easily reach the city center in a short walk. My view from the room was not pleasure, bad was too softly for me and air-conditioning was too loud and not efficient. Breakfast a standard choice so everyone can find something for himself.
We stayed here for 3 nights and we were delighted with our experience at the hotel. On arrival we were greeted warmly and check in was quick. Our room was excellent and thank you to the hotel for the upgrade. Our room was large and spotlessly clean. Bedding was excellent as was the bathroom. WIFI was very good. The hotel is close to the train station and there are many small eating places close by.
Lovely suite, friendly service and a good breakfast with made to order omelet. The hotel is perfectly situated, immaculate and there are nice touches like a player piano in the lobby, beautiful art throughout and snacks day and night. We rented a car at the airport so the hotel's offer of free overnight parking was attractive.
This hotel is nearly the center. You have a walk about 5-7 minutes and you are in the centre. The rooms are little bit smal. Service is very kind. Breakfast is really great. All you want is there. Parking also possible in the hotel. Bar is closed a 22:00 but OK you are near centre. Some rooms has no outside view - you look direct to a wall if you look out of the window. All together i can recommend this hotel for short stay in zagreb
Stayed here for 2 nights as part of vacation in Croatia. It's a nice hotel, staff is helpful very central location. The room were a little small for 2 people and Aircon was not the best. Nice spread of breakfast but they were not making anything hot like eggs to order. Good place to stay if u want be staying near old town Zagreb
The hotel is about a 5 minutes walk from the main Railway station and a 10 minutes walk to the main town square. The room was small yet cozy and clean, the washroom was again good but the shower stall as with most in East Europe, was quite small. The 24 hours coffee/tea/water station by the elevators at the ground floor was an excellent touch. The staff were quite friendly and the only issue would be it was quite pricey for a 1 night stay, definitely our most expensive stay during our travels through East Europe.
Lovely old hotel. Room was clean and small but adequate. Reception staff lacked warmth, however did point us in the right direction. Breakfast was amazing. Located in easy walking distance to train and attractions.
Hotel was founded in the 1920's. Well, it defiantly feels this way.. Hotel is aged. You can see the past luxury all around for those who appreciate this.. Service is good with the good old flavor Free parking is available which is handy Breakfast was ok
This hotel is conveniently located about 10 min walk to the main city square. The general amenities at the hotel are excellent. Great reception staff. There is a small parking area at the front of the hotel. Once we checked in we took our luggage to our room and then moved the car to the secured parking area at the back of the hotel. The breakfast and dining facilities are excellent. Certainly could not fault the breakfast. A vast variety of food. If you cannot find something to your liking you would be difficult to please. Our room was well appointed. Comfortable bed. Tea and coffee making facilities. A fridge. Only complaint for me was the shower was too small. Highly recommend.
We stayed here for one night on our way to Istria. Receptionist was very welcoming and helpful. Although checking in earlier than expected we were invited to park our car and got excellent guidance for walk to the city center that happens to be only few minutes away. Everything was spotlessly clean, breakfast very good and all staff polite and helpful. They have complimentary water, tea and coffee in the lobby as well as traditional cookies. We had nothing to complain about.
Staff were friendly, breakfast was very good. Rooms clean and decent sized. Location also very good, around 10-12 mins walk to the city centre. There is a supermarket and self service laundry in the same street, both which came in handy. Recommended!
We stayed here for a couple of days in the beginning of July. I wish all Best Westerns were like this one! Fabulous breakfast, great old world decor, super comfortable bed and very clean room. The clerks at the front desk were very accommodating. Although we had a car (and were able to park for free!) we walked everywhere due to the excellent central location of this hotel. I will stay here again!
Gorgeous Building. Walking distance to city centre, parks, cathedral, museums. Clean, comfortable, tastefully decorated rooms and public areas. Super friendly accommodating staff. Great buffet breakfast with local cheese, yogurts & freshly baked goods varieties. Will definitely stay again there when back in Zagreb.
Have stayed for 5 nights with my friends during July. The hotel is more than perfect : staff, location, rooms, hospitality, breakfast, everything was great except the internet. There is a big problem in the rooms as WiFi is mainly not working you have to go in the reception to get an acceptable connection also the room cleaning is not very good. A part this all the rest is excellent specially that you have detoxing water, coffee, ice tea, cookies and apple at disposal 24 hours in the reception. I do recommend this hotel to everyone and in case I visit Zagreb again, I will stay there again. Thanks for all the hotel staff
We spent two nights in Best Western Premier Hotel in Zagreb and were very satisfied - location is perfect for everybody who wants to have all main tourist spots in Zagreb in walking distance. The selection for breakfast was outstanding. Service was friendly and very helpful. Rooms were well equipped - just a little bit aged ...
We enjoyed being able to walk to all the sights. Excellent friendly and helpful service. Breakfast was amazing and well worth it - fresh fruit, banana milkshakes, variety of hot foods, cheeses, meats, pastries, etc. I would definitely stay here again. The beds were very comfortable.
Right from the start we were welcomed warmly by English speaking staff. We were given a upgrade to a suite. The suite was elegant, spacious and beautifully clean. The location of the hotel is an excellent starting point for exploring the beautiful city.
This Hotel is within easy walking distance to all that you may want to see. Staff all barr one were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast had all the usual and we enjoyed a buffett dinner. Not flash but plentiful. This is not a luxury hotel but is more then adequate for the average tourist. WiFi and Bar
We spent one night at this hotel and frankly wished we had spent more time here. They were kind enough to upgrade us to a junior suite which was amazing! The staff was kind and very helpful, the room worked perfectly, the bathrooms were spacious and the breakfast was amazing! This has to be considered for any trip to Zagreb.
the beat Western is within a 5 minute walk from the central square. There is a secure car park at the back of the hotel with direct hotel entrance. We stayed 2 nights from the 13th June 2019. The staff were really good and very helpful. We had a room that was a double, that was clean and very spacious. No issues. The breakfast is self service and is very good with both a full English to Continental offerings, so great. We had dinner one evening and that was good value (fish and Steak), both good value and tasty. From the hotel one can walk to all of Zargrebs attractions easy. Also there are numerous good places to eat all with an easy walk.
We had two rooms next to each other for 4 people. Twin beds close together is typical in Europe. The bathroom was small and the shower was tiny — hard to move or turn around. The rooms were clean and sufficient. The street is not too quiet but it is a Main Street a short walk to the main square. The breakfast buffet was excellent! There was a huge variety of familiar and unfamiliar foods and drinks and the dining room was nice. The hotel has a player piano and bar.
Really nice hotel, I loved that I could easily walk to anything and there was a wine/food festival going on in the park a block over during my stay. The room was very tiny but clean and comfortable and the mattress was very comfortable. There is a beautiful little lobby bar/lounge and one of the bigger included breakfast buffets I've seen. There is a coffee maker in the room too which is always a plus for me.
The room was very comfortable, super clean and spacious. The staff were very kind and helpful. Great location especially if you have a car with free parking and an easy walk to the main sites in Zagreb. Breakfast was so good and over the top with so many choices. Staff packed a breakfast to go for us because we had to leave early to the airport. Staff arranged for a taxi for us. We had a wonder and relaxing stay here.
We spend two nights at the hotel by end April/early May. It is about thirty minutes by taxi from Zagreb International Airport. As we arrive at Zagreb early in the morning, we are at the hotel by around 8:30 am. Since the room is available at 2:00 pm that the hotel keeps our luggage until we return in the afternoon. I would say that the attitude of reception staff is just normal but not very welcoming. The hotel is in a very good location and takes less than 10 minutes' walk to the city centre. It is less than five minutes' walk to the train station and around 15 minutes' walk to the main bus station. Since the city is relatively small that I would say walking is the best option to see all major attractions. The room is clean measuring around 30 sq.m. plus. The room rate includes daily breakfast that is good quality and with sufficient varieties. Wifi is free but connection signal is not great, mere adequate. Our room faces the street but quiet at night. It is clean and the bed is comfortable. All in all, recommended for stay when visiting Zagreb.
We stayed for three nights in early May and this was a good location for walking all over Zagreb if you are someone who likes wandering around local areas on your way to tourist attractions. The breakfast buffet was very large and diverse, with food options for any tastes. There were lots of restaurants nearby, which was very handy. We did take a private car to the airport in the early morning, which was fast and easy. The room was very nice and spacious, though we had some issues with the thermostat not staying where we set it. I don't think the towel heater in the bathroom was on yet, or it wasn't working. We got soaked walking home in the rain one night and hoped to drape our clothes on it to dry, but that didn't work out.
My husband and I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. Check in was a breeze and there was ample car park space at no charge. We had a room upgrade which I understand is the second largest room in the hotel! Breakfast was good and there is a wide spread of food which it includes a section for babies too! Room was very clean and the staff was helpful.
Stayed at this hotel twice recently, great location, in quite area, but only 10 minute walk to main square. Lots of bars and restaurants nearby. Staff very efficient and friendly. Room not large but very nice, bed and pillows comfortable, bathroom and plenty of amenities. Nice buffet breakfast, quite the variety of dishes
This hotel is clean, centrally located (can walk from train station), quiet and comfortable. Two big negatives: The breakfast buffet is subpar. The shower in our bathroom is so small that I had problems maneuvering within it, I am only 5'5” and 105 Ibs.
We stayed here for the first night of our tour of Croatia and Slovenia, and we were very pleased. The hotel is in a great location near old town, rooms are clean and comfortable, secure parking is convenient, and the staff was very friendly and attentive. Would highly recommend!
We stayed here for one night as we moving from Budapest to Split. We were a 5 minute walk from the train station and we got in about 9:30 pm and we were tired from a five hour train ride. The checkin was prompt and we were directed to the restaurant manager to see if we could get some supper even though it was late. The kitchen was about to close but the helpful manager provided a menu and we were able to get a ham sandwich and cheese burger, both with hot fries, which we took to our room. The service was on real plates with cutlery and not some take out box. The room was a good size with a very comfortable bed. The bathroom was excellent. Breakfast was provided and it was a full buffet. Nothing was missed. We found this Best Western Premier to be a cut above and very affordable. This is a great place to stay and wish we would have had another night.
We have stayed one night into this hotel on the end of our organized by Nortravel. The “Best Western Premier Hotel Astoria” is situated in the heart of Zagreb, it is on about a 10-minute walk from the “Archaeological Museum” and the “Ban Jelacic Square”. This 4-star hotel is 0.9 km (0.6 mi) from Ethnographic Museum and 0.9 km (0.6 mi) from Dolac. The rooms are clean, they have a friendly staff. We have also enjoyed a good evening meal, and in the morning they provided us with a “Take Away Lunch” this because we had to leave the hotel to catch our early flight back to Lisbon, it was a short stay but more than ok,
We stayed at Executive suite for a night while in Zagreb. The staff were very friendly and great with providing recommendations. The breakfast was very nice with variety of selections of eggs, cheese, bread, fruits, juice, coffee, tea etc. Its walking distance from major attractions and they also have parking as complimentary if you are driving. We checked out early and did the city tour, but the staff were kind enough to let us use the parking space through our visit. I would definitely stay again here.
We had a great stay in this hotel. Beds and bedrooms are very confortable. Service is very kind. It's quiet and restful. Breakfast buffet over standards. Close to the main city center. Strong recommendation.
Great Hotel close to the center, service perfect, well equiped, with a very helpful and friendly staff, the breakfast are very good!!! choice and quality of breakfast not often found!! free of charge car park exelent.
Arrived earlier to the hotel but unable to check in as this hotel got strict check in time of 2pm. Our luggages were kept in storage. In the lobby, hotel provides tepid coffee, ice tea and lemon water for you. Also some baked cookies. Rooms are clean and all toiletries given. Kettle available with some coffee/tea given. Bed is comfortable but pillow is too soft. Walk into Old Town is around 10-15minutes. 5mins to Central Train station. Asia restaurant which is 5mins away is pretty good and cheap.
It was expecting this hotel to be absolutely amazing and had chosen it to celebrate my birthday with my partner. We had booked it via phone and before we came we rang again to confirm the booking. They did not have any knoledge of our booking and although there was plenty of room because it was may,it did not serm very professional. When we turned up were kept waiting, then checked in by a girl who had a serious attitude problem. The room was good but dusty. Also the brought the wrong order for room service breakfast. It is nice hotel but i would not consider what i have writtes as good treatment.
Absolutely brilliant hotel, central location great staff. Opportunity to park as part of the stay, great breakfast, pleasant ambiance, speedy check in, great selection on the menu, beautiful decor, warm & friendly!!
I checked in at the hotel in the evening. The receptionist was very welcoming, professional and informative. He even upgraded us to a suite which was very spacious. Breakfast buffet is very good, with different selections so everyone can find something. Hotel is just 10 min walking distance from main square and has it's on parking. Overall I would definitely stay at this hotel again and I would praise the receptionist from the night shift. Definitely recommend.
The hotel has very good loction, walking distance to the main train station and to the city center. The welcome in the reception was very cold and unprofessional. Offer for ice tea, coffee and lemon water is nice - but would be great if receptionist could mention that during checkin... No words as "welcome, thank you, please".... that is a way of training the reception should have passed... The hotel itself is quite old and needs deffintelly renovation. I had a little cleanliness issue in the room - which was solved immediately on spot. "Sorry" message was accepted and appreciated. Breakfast offer is good, I missed fresh eggs, pancakes / palacinke were dry and not enough marmelade. They offer sparkling wine / champagne - but the bottle is closed, so don´t know if it is just decoration or serious offer! General feeling of this hotel is that management has good ideas but the staff is just horrible and deffinitelly needs training of behaviour and guest treatment in 4* hotel. For me ok, but not a place I would book again.
My friend and I stayed here for a couple of nights and it was fantastic hotel. Room was spacious and the breakfast buffet is superb w numerous selections. The main square is an easy walk and there are also great restaurants close by. Would stay here again.
In the „centar“ of Zagreb: Top hotel at a reasonable price range with great service and nice staff. We immediately felt very welcome. It's one of the best of the chain we have been sofar. Furthermore they have their own garded parkinglot. Recommend!
For the location and price this hotel is absolutely ok. Fast Wifi, good breakfast and international TV channels. Staff are very helpful, quick check in and check out. Room was small but up to date and bed comfortable.
As is the case with most hotels in this part of the world, service and infrastructure standards are quite average so if you are expecting a 4 star hotel in the true sense, you may be disappointed. I chose this hotel because of the free parking it offers and not many hotels in the city center tend to do this. Little did I realize that this ''free parking'' does have its own intrinsic costs. What I have never understood with so many hotels in downtown/center of the city is why can't they first let the guest park the car in the parking lot/garage and then let the guest checkin. At this hotel, first the guest has to park the car in front of the hotel (before checking in) and even though the hotel insists the parking in front of the hotel is reserved for guests till they complete the checkin, the inspector was all over my car in a matter of seconds, interrogating me as to why I have my car there and inspite of telling him that I am a guest of the hotel, he just did not believe me. After receiving the ''green light'' to park my car in the parking lot, turns out you cant just press the button while sitting in your car for the door to open! You have to stop the car on the pedestrian sidewalk, get out and press the button as its not conveniently placed. Parking slots are separated by an inconveniently placed irremovable cone thats drilled to the ground. While it does help in ensuring people parking in their own spots, it results in taking forever to get a car into the slot. If you have a big car, goodluck parking your car without yelling out a few curse words to yourself. BW Astoria: just make your parking slots a bit larger and then it will be easy for guests to park their cars. At a 4 Star guests shouldnt have to spend 10-15 minutes in getting a car into a parking slot. Moreover, once inside the property you have to climb a few steps with your luggage to get to the main level. So if you have any disability issues, this property may not be your best bet. For those who have no such issue, just grin and deal with climbing a few steps with your luggage. The hotel's common areas are well kept and clean even though the hotel has not been renovated for at least 20-30 years. What is disappointing is the rooms. Whilst the room is itself clean, I had a red stain on my sheets, something I did not appreciate. What the hotel needs to understand is that housekeeping staff can keep the room and common areas clean, but that is not a substitute to delaying renovation. The rooms badly need a facelift, especially new beds, new sheets and a new study table. The bathroom looks prehistoric, something out of a 1970's wellness center in communist Europe. Breakfast comes with alot of choices but sadly no eggs made to order. Scrambled eggs look like they have been slapped hard and dehydrated while the fried eggs look marginally better. Orange juice can be seen running through the machine 24 hours a day even when once is walking by the restaraunt 2am (Avoid!!). The banana milkshake was a nice thing to see as it had been put into glasses along with a straw, ready to be drunk but you need to come early or else you will be drinking it at room temperature. Keeping it chilled would have been better. There is some sort of cheaper version of caviar as well as sparking wine and while its quite obvious that the hotel has received all the BW amenities, the staff in the restaraunt do lack training on how to attend to guests. What I could not understand is at around 8am, 3-4 of the chefs from inside came with their coffee mugs into the buffet to get their coffee and behind them in the line were guests. Staff should not be using the buffet during service and definitely not ahead of guests that are behind in line! Lastly, one elevator for the entire hotel is just not acceptable. I understand its an old building but you cannot keep delaying renovation just to milk the profits. People will stop coming at some point if the management/owners dont do something about this! At 60 euros a night, its a fair deal for a 3 star hotel but i would refrain from calling this property a 4 star hotel unless it undergoes a facelift and has a more friendly approach to their ''parking system''.
Excellent experinece. Will come back. Great location and parking right downtown. Check in and out smoothless. Staff highly professional and helpful. My number one choice when staying in Zagreb. Would highly recommend
Everything about my stay was perfect. I was given an upgrade on arrival which was obviously the icing on the cake. The staff were helpful and friendly. The suite was spotless and very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent. The hotel is just a few minutes walk from the centre of the city and everything it has to offer.
We have just returned from Zagreb and a very pleasant stay at this hotel. It is in easy walking distance to many attractions and the tram line, situated just around the corner from the train station. Rooms were compact but clean with everything you need, chocolates on the pillow were a nice touch! Breakfast was plentiful with a good variety of options...staff at breakfast were helpful and efficient. We really enjoyed our stay, found check in and check out efficient although some of the front desk staff could smile a bit more! Coffee, water and mulled wine in the lobby was a nice touch.
Stay 4 Night there. The rooms are little Bit smal but clean. The Hotel is nearly to the Center, you take a walk around 10 minutes. The bar is smal and simple and closing at 11 pm. The parking Place for a car is behind the Hotel. Breakfast is nice and typical for this country.
This is great hotel in Zagreb. The room was very clean, quiet and secure. We had to check in late but it was not a problem at all. The staff were all very professional throughout our stay. The breakfast buffet was extensive, with so many choices. The tap water is also very clean and potable.
This was our first trip to Zagreb Our tour guide chose this hotel. We were very pleased. Very nice hotel and really good location. We will stay again. Friendly staff and great little lounge area with a bar. Great breakfast buffet too.
Visited Zagreb for the first time. Hotel in an excellent location for both the Christmas markets (superb) and for old town/ tourist sites. Staff are first class and the breakfast is excellent. Although an older style hotel we found it charming. If in Zagreb again would have no hesitation in staying here .
Parking is very good, location and restaurants are in walking distance.Breakfast is good and rooms are not noisy. Staff is super friendly and online and telephone booking is great too. Will come back
A group of us stayed at the hotel for the Xmas markets. The ice rink was just around the corner and one market only a 5 minute walk away. All tourist spots are within walking distance too. The hotel is lovely with mulled wine and coffee with biscuits available all day in the foyer which was much welcomed when returning from visiting the markets. The breakfast was superb with a great deal of choice with lovely staff. The fruit & veg market in the old town is well worth a visit with meat and cheeses available undercover. We will definitely return to this hotel in the future as the whole experience was great.
The hotel is in a good location to both the main train station as well as the city center. The rooms are large and clean, maybe a little old style for me. Staff excellent and also the breakfast is very good and overall service very good. Very good value for money and you can feel at home here. I can fully recommend this hotel
As I have been several times in this Hotel I can tell that the staff is always friendly - from the reception to the waiters in the restaurant. The room with comfy bed and bathroom , the breakfast is always at the same level, with excellent choice and quality. Thanks and back again!
We have stayed at the Astoria at least a couple of times every year for more than a decade. We will continue to do so. Apart from its excellent location close to the center, it is a comfortable, well run hotel with great service and staff at a great value. Recommend it highly.
This Hotel is in a great location with friendly helpful staff.Breakfast is a feast great choice with champagne.Rooms are well appointed however shower box is tight.Within walking distance are mini marts amd a laundry.Tram to bus station is 5 mins walk.Train station is 5 mins walk.A reccomended Hotel
Stayed for 1 night. Location is very close to city center. Free parking was a huge bonus for us. Staff is very helpful and nice. Breakfast was excepional. Full variety. Fresh. Tasty. Much better than expected. Really enjoyed our stay
Excellent location, close to the train station (I travelled by train) and also not far from the city centre. Free water, coffee/tea with cookies available in the lobby. I had nice single room ( a bit small), decorated in a classic style. The queensize bed was very comfortable. Room and bathroom were spotless clean. Good breakfast buffet with a lot of choice. Staff at the reception was professional, but less then cheerful. A hotel with 100 rooms, but only 1 lift.
We loved this hotel. The staff at reception were friendly and helpful, and the availability all day of coffee and cookies was a very welcome touch. There was a huge selection of food at breakfast, and staff were quick to replenish dishes and remove dirty plates. Our rooms were not large, but there was everything you might need. We had a very comfortable stay. The location is excellent - ten minutes walk to the centre of town, five to the railway station and twenty to the bus station. This is a comfortable, characterful hotel which really tries hard to meet the needs of its guests.
Stayed for 2 nights. Good location in a side street a 5 minute walk from the railway station, and about a 10 minute walk from Zagreb's main square. Lots of eating and drinking places nearby as well as interesting things to see and do. After a quick and efficient check-in we were allocated a largish comfortable room with a seating area, and a large bathroom. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Choice of TV channels not great but we weren't there to watch TV. Breakfast was fantastic. Almost anything you wanted was available from the buffet which was regularly replenished. We ate so much that we didn't need lunch on any day. First time I've ever seen baby food on a hotel buffet (not that I have any babies). Overall a great hotel and it will be my hotel of choice when I next visit Zagreb.
My wife and I stayed in this Hotel 10 years ago and returned again in 2018, it is still the same, great staff wonderful breakfast with a huge selection and the room size is well above the normal. It was great to see that they are still doing it right after so many years, would recommend this to anyone. The location is close to the town centre as well as the train station.
Had quick visit to Zagreb chose this hotel for downtown location. Hotelnis classic older European style - but all updated. Room (suite) massive bathroom superb, bed heaven! Could qslk 3 block to city square and sites. Zagreb is a fun city! Breakfast great lots of choices. Will stay again when we next visit Croatia (hope soon)! Car park secure, staff amazing! Thank you all (no I do not work for BW)!
Best Western Premier Hotel Astoria is located in a quiet area in the centre of Zagreb just 300 mts from the Main Train Station. Convenient location for walking around the city. There are plenty of choices of restaurants and shopping nearby the hotel. The parking is just opposite the entrance. The room was specious, clean, well equipped, nicely decorated, had a very comfortable bed and windows that could be opened. The breakfast was very good - lots of variety and choice Definitely would recommend the hotel and think I'll be back!
I stayed at the Great Western Astoria in Zagreb. It is in a great position being walking distance from the centre of the city. The room sizes are great for the traveler with an excellent buffet breakfast. The only negative is the shower was possibly a little small for a larger person but still workable. The are also will to currency exchange at the front counter for 3 % fee. Had a great stay there I recommend it highly.
Centrally located hotel that retains its old world charm thanks to the extensive wood paneling and dated furniture. We had asked for a room in an upper floor with a nice view. Instead we were first given a side room with a window looking across another 3m away window in an adjacent dilapidated building. Our complaint at the reception desk encountered the usual excuses (we are fully booked, etc.,etc.) and only after firmly insisting were we changed to a room with a normal view. Both the room and the bathroom were nice though very small, especially the shower stall, where you could hardly turn around. The breakfast buffet was excellent with a big selection of foods and drinks and a helpful staff, ready to satisfy any special request. There is also a secured parking in the rear with direct access to the hotel.
The hotel location is excellent - very close to the city and everything else, yet on a quiet street. Walking distance from the main train and bus stations. Excellent restaurants and bars are few hundreds meters away. Breakfast is superb. We stayed in a premium room and it was large and comfortable. WiFi is fast. Nice and helpful staff. The only issue we encountered was a pretty weak air conditioner - we asked for a floor standing fan, which was given immediately. Overall, excellent small hotel in the heart of Zagreb.
Upgraded to a deluxe room with king bed, big desk, table & chairs and setee. WiFi free, big bathroom with shower over bath, 1st floor but no views, buffet bfast with big selection, coffee not good, WOULD RECOMMEND.
The room is so small you can not walk in it. The shower is 3 times smaller than a cheap cruise ship lowest category cabin. So small that if your soap drops you can't get it without stopping the shower and opening the slide door. As you soap the water handles turns off because of movement. Service is the worst ever. If you arrive on a weekend you are doomed as the staff is only there to look pretty. No AC and room hot as a sauna. They promise AC and then say is too cold so they have it off. Bear that the temp is 30c / 86 f. Really hot, unbearably hot. No tv as it does not work and they don't know what is wrong. A joke of a hotel. Don't ruin your vacation here. Claim in city center but is really a 15 minute walk to plaza or restaurants. Have been traveling for 15 days throughout Croatia and wonderful experience until now in this horrible hotel.
This Hotel is excellent, coffee at the entrance, good staff, great rooms especially as we have an adult special needs with us, they made an extra bed in room, and still room to sit on the chairs around. The breakfast was great, and its only 15mins to the main square.
When in Zagreb, we always stay at this hotel. Rooms are comfortable, bathrooms are roomy, decor is wood panelling, but that makes it homely and comfortable. The beds are large and comfortable as well. Breakfast has a huge selection and variety of food, so you can fill up for the day!
Due to a decision to extend our stay in Zagreb, and the unavailability of our other hotel, we came here for 3 nights and how lucky we were. This is an excellent hotel with lovely wood panelling giving an authentic local feel, high quality breakfasts and in a brilliant location. The front desk couldn't do enough to assist and the room was an excellent 4 star.
We loved the location of our hotel. Near parks and festivals and a short walk into town. Our room was adequate but small.Breakfast was good. This was first hotel in Croatia. We did not find the front desk helpful.Could not answer some basic questions like where is the closest Bankomat. It was right around the corner at the train station.
Lovely hotel, great friendly lobby staff, we had a nice spacious room with a very large comfortable bed. The windows come with electric shutters which are great. The decor is very “Old Europe”, it's not modern or sleek but it's warm and inviting. The breakfast buffet was delicious and styled beautifully too. I give it 4 not 5 because of insufficient soundproofing between the room and adjacent rooms/elevator. As soon as people started fussing about and talking in the other rooms sleep was interrupted. It could be my specific room, but worth mentioning.
We stayed here for 2 nights, & wish we had longer. We did get an upgrade, our room was spacious and comfortable. Breakfast consists of a wide variety of hot & cold. There is only one elevator for enter hotel and it is on the smallish side! We used it for baggage transfer and used the stairs instead. We were on 6 th floor so had an excellent work out. Hotel is in excellent location and all major attractions are walkable. Thanks to the staff for a wonderful stay,
My husband and I stayed 2 nights in Zagreb and are happy we chose Hotel Astoria. The location is steps from the Green Horseshoe area of Zagreb. As always we were warmly greeted and treated well because we are Diamond members of Best Western. Our room was upgraded and we even had a fruit basket waiting for us from the management. Breakfast had a large selection of hot and cold items to delight any traveler. In the lobby there was always music playing and coffee, iced tea, cold water and cookies waiting for us when we returned from a day of sight seeing. If you are choosing to visit Zagreb we'd highly recommend this attractive and welcoming hotel.
When I see "Best Western", the image of your typical North American chain hotel comes to mind. This is NOT one of them! From the friendly and helpful staff to the modern facilities provided, all is top notch. Conviently located within walking distance between Jelacic Square and the train station and with parking available, it will suit most people's transportation needs. Rooms were comfortable with all amenities and are a reasonable size keeping in mind the space available in typical old European city hotels. Even though our room was along the busy main street, it was quiet. The breakfast buffet was excellent with a wide variety of fresh foods and beverages. My partner was paritcularly pleased to see gluten and lactose free options.
We stayed here with OAT's trip. The location is good being 10 minutes from the Main Square and about 5 minutes from the train station. There is a beautiful park just one block to the west. The rooms are good quality but pretty small. Traveling with two large suitcases, we had to rearrange the room just to be able to move. The bath is also very small. It is what we were used to in Paris but not at all in line with the size of the other 3 hotels we stayed at on this trip. The staff was friendly and the breakfast buffet is more than adequate.
Great location to bars, restaurant and the old town. Staff were friendly enough, breakfast was included, very many options here. Rooms typical European style - very small shower. The self-playing piano in reception got a bit much at times.
Only after booking, and checking the map thoroughly, I realised that I was staying at that place several times during the 90s. Didn't like it too much then but was pleasantly surprised when I now came back there. Nicely renovated place still with somewhat the air from 1930s. Friendly and professional staff, check in was a breeze and the rooms nice and with sufficient space. The safe parking at the back of the Hotel was a big plus for me, parking in Zagreb's very centre isn't much fun otherwise. From the Hotel you can easily discover Zagreb by foot. Breakfast was the nowadays standard buffet type, all fresh and well presented. A good selection provides easily for different needs or tastes.
Best Western Hotel Astoria located in central Zagreb is great and reasonably priced. Within 10 minutes walking distance from Zagreb's main train station and historic old town Zagreb. All major tourist attraction are easily accessible either by walking or using Zagreb's tram system. Airport is about 30 minutes by taxi and there is also a direct airport bus from the main bus terminal. Zagreb is a beautiful city.
This hotel is located around 10-15 min walk from either Ban Jela?i? Square or Zagreb train station. You need to take a tram-ride for 5 min from the central bus station & then walk around 5-10 min to the hotel. Room decoration is classic style. We booked a triple room & there are 2 washrooms there which is quote nice.
Room was clean, comfy and came with much needed air con! Parking was ideal for motorcycles. Staff were helpful, friendly and efficient. Hotel was very nice all round, and located a five minute walk from the main square where all the bars and restaurants are. Breakfast was very good!
Superb hotel secure parking breakfast was spot on. The hotel is very close to the centre just a short walk with some awesome restaurants on the way. The guest experience is excellent I can recommend to you stay here in Zagreb.
Great room, great location, very good breakfast. The room was large, with dining table. We would have stayed more! The hotel has free parking behind in a secure lot (but it is first come first served).
This was our final hotel on a six city visit in Europe. We definitely ended on a high note. The hotel was great, the staff was great and the location was great. I would highly recommend the Best Western Premier Hotel Astoria!
We had just one night here and found it very convenient being walking distance (10 minutes) from and to the station pulling cases. I actually chose it because it was a good price and, especially, because it had non-smoking rooms (not all in Zagreb do). We had a twin room which wasn't huge but good enough for us, and we weren't concerned there was no view. There was a minibar for our food plus a kettle and mugs for making our own tea/coffee. Toiletries were free and I especially liked the shampoo which was very good compared with other hotels. Included breakfast was good with a lot of variety. There was fruit and lollies available at reception. Beds were comfortable - had a good night's sleep in a quiet room
The hotel is 10 minutes distance from city center. Our room faced backwards and it was very quiet. The bed was great. We were upgraded to a superior room which was very spacious and equiped with all possible stuff. If there was something to improve maybe it would be the cleaning.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Best Western Astoria. We were treated well by a professional staff always willing to help. Our suite was superb with fantastic views. Breakfast buffet included many items and was a great way to start the day. I highly recommend you treat yourself to this well-located hotel in Zagreb.
I absolutely loved my stay here, and wouldn't hesitate to stay again. It is clean, comfortable, and safe, with well appointed rooms. It is located within walking distance (15-20 minutes) of the old city and Zagreb's quirky museums! Breakfast was nice. The thing that really stood out was just how helpful and friendly the front desk staff were. They were absolutely fantastic.
Stayed here on our first night of our Croatian vacation. Hotel is charming and well cared for. Staff is super helpful. Made us feel very welcome. Room was comfortable and we had a great sleep. Breakfast was fantastic! We were informed that everybody gets fed at The Astoria! They gave us a great restaurant recommendation for our evening meal. Trust them when they say Purger is really good. Super close to downtown and all the great squares.
I stayed in this hotel again. The hotel is situated in quiet street, but only about 300 m from tram and railway station. Executive room was big (30 sqm) and clean. The king bed is very comfortable (orthopaedic mattress). The hotel has free WiFi (good quality) and free parking (no garage). Breakfast was rich, and restaurant has enough places. It's good value for money. Staff is very kindly. I recommend this hotel again.
This hotel has seen better days, much better days. The room was old style, think 70ies. Dark wood, wall-to-wall carpet and a bit shabby furniture. For example, you don't expect to find frayed sheets in a 4-star hotel. The bathroom was also old style and not very well designed with only a small shower partition wall on top of the bathtub. Wet wet wet! On the positive side I have to mention the breakfast and the location of the hotel. The breakfast buffet was plentiful with both the traditional stuff as well as Croatian specialities. Finally, the location of the hotel is very good, close both to the railway station and the absolute city centre. You reach the main square in about 10 minutes walk.
We stayed here at the beginning and the end of a tour. The staff at the reception were very helpful. The rooms were comfortable for 2 people. The breakfast was very good including the bubbles that were on offer. The hotel is a ten minute walk from the square with a park even closer.
A very nice classy traditional hotel in downtown Zagreb. We had room 425, a large suite, I think we were upgraded. Not much of a view but beautiful large room. Breakfast was buffet and very good. Front desk staff very good, pleasant and helpful with excellent English. Would definitely stay there again.
We booked this hotel for three nights in Zagreb before heading to split for a week cruise. We landed early morning after an overnight flight from Canada and the hotel allowed us in our room early which was ready. They will also store bags. Our room had lots of space and was clean and we'll equipped. Staff was amazing during the entire stay. Parking was included and very secure. Breakfast was really good every morning with lots of choice and very fresh. Location is also great for walking anywhere in Zagreb. We also drove one day to Plitvice and one day to Slovenia with no problems. Great place to stay.
A wonderful hotel; the staff were very friendly and welcoming, the rooms were very clean and the breakfast in the mornings extensive (I'm a vegetarian so this was helpful). They even have soya milk available. The hotel is also very well placed in Zagreb with the city centre easily reached by a walk (10 mins). Would very much recommend a stay.
Classy hotel within minutes from beautiful downtown Zagreb, clean and spacious executive room. Every item at the breakfast buffet which is included in the price of the room together with free wi-fi and parking was so tasty. Staff very helpful. Will come back again.
Lovely older hotel well situated to walk to all the sights. Rooms smaller but quite adequate. Great breakfast with lots of choices. We even found peanut butter which we hadn't seen throughout Croatia. Highly recommend.
We stayed for two nights as part of a holiday to Croatia and our first stop was The Astoria. It's perfectly pleasant and our room was fine, albeit the decor is a little dated. The breakfast was good and we liked the free coffee/water etc in the lobby. The staff were very efficient, but they were very busy checking people in a lot of the time, so we didn't really have much of a conversation with them. The advantage with this hotel is its location - it's close to the station and not far to the centre/old town, so it makes it very easy to get around Zagreb. I'd happily stay at The Astoria again.
Had an emergency and needed to stay one night in Zagreb. It was late night. I fired up my Booking.Com app in my phone and started looking. Saw a lot of positive comments and high rating of this hotel and the price seemed OK. I hit
This hotel is very close to the main train station and a 15 minute walk from the main bus station. It was cold and raining the day I arrived and had walked from the bus station and arrived a bit early for check in. My thanks to Boris on hotel reception who was very welcoming and helpful when I arrived. The room was very clean and quiet and the bed comfortable. Breakfast was of the standard I would expect in a hotel of this type. Certainly a lot of options. There are supermarkets and coffee shops close by. The upper town where the main square etc is located is about a 10 minute walk. I loved my stay in Zagreb and this hotel.
Hotel is in a great location, walking distance to the old town, train station, restaurants and shops. If you are into people watching great parks to sit and take it all in. Hotel Astoria is old world style, nice lobby, small lounge/bar area and large breakfast room. The room we had was quite small but had everything we needed, comfortable bed. No view (ok for us). Recommend for 1 or 2 night stay - the room is quite small if you are planning a longer stay it could feel confining. Excellent breakfast, it was one of the best during our 17 day vacation in Croatia. Staff are professional, friendly and helpful.
Stayed here twice and it was quaint, clean, comfortable with a wonderful breakfast included. The staff aims to please. The air-conditioning worked perfectly, beds comfortable, furniture lovely and the lobby is welcoming.
Old world charm. I really liked the look of the hotel on the inside. It reminded me of a 1930's film. Small but charming lobby, bar and breakfast room. Nice breakfast buffet selection. Great location, between the train station and Zagreb Cathedral. Lots of small parks and restaurants within walking distance. Single room was a bit small, but fine for a solo traveler. Just enough room for a wardrobe, writing desk and mini fridge. Bathroom has modern enclosed shower. Strong WiFi. No view. The room's best attribute was the bed. Incredibly comfortable. I wanted to sleep all day!
Our room & experience was 3-4 ?at best. The included breakfast was amazing but our sleep was impeded by a table at the end of the bed making it very uncomfortable, not great for tall people. It was a short walk to the railway station in one direction & the old town in the other.
The hotel interior had a quaint look and welcome drinks were provided at the lobby. We had a room for 3 persons. Room was spacious and luxurious. Breakfast was excellent with a wide spread of breakfast items. The hotel is also conveniently located, about a short 15 mins walk to Jelacic Square. As we drove, we had a complimentary carpark at the back of the hotel with auto gate. The Hotel staff allowed us to park although we checked in early in the morning. We have stayed in Best Western Hotels in several countries and so far they have not disappointed us.
Location by train station makes this a must stay if using the train system. The hotel is excellent, great breakfast. Staff is very attentive. Room was actually upgraded for free when we arrived late. Very nice place to stay
Enjoying our stay at this hotel. Very good location, near the park and about a 10 minute walk to the main square and Old Town. Also not far from the botanical gardens and museums. Breakfast and dinner buffet were quite good, large selection to choose from. The rooms are comfortable and cozy. Very clean. Told reception our bathroom sink was draining slowly, walked up the stairs and the maintenance staff were there in less than 5 minutes. Our room is facing the street but it is quiet, no street noise noticed. There is only one elevator so sometimes it takes a bit to get one. Also, the shower has to be the smallest we've ever had. It's a corner shower, very difficult to reach lower legs and feet, and keep hitting sides while trying to wash my hair. Understand there are some rooms with bathtubs, so you might ask one of those rooms, especially if you need extra room.
The front desk staff was exceptional and the amenities in the room were outstanding. The furnishings were of the highest quality and the bed was very comfortable. They have a private parking lot for abut 25 cars and security is very good. We had to check out before breakfast was served so they arranged a box breakfast for us that was far more than I would have expected. Again, credit the front desk staff.
This hotel is in a fabulous location to explore central Zagreb. Our room was cosy and quiet in this charming art deco boutique hotel. We loved the bsr and lobby and the great food. Breakfast choice was outstanding.
Stayed in the Astoria for 4 nights following a booking error with another hotel. On first impression the Astoria looks nice. The staff are smiling and delightfully helpful. I had booked a deluxe-queen room, whatever that may be, but found myself in a single room with a queen bed. I am aware that in Europe in some places when one travels alone, it seems to be necessary to be punished for that by taking the brooms out of a cupboard and putting a bed in it, and charging an exhorbitant amount of money for it. Nothing in my booking referred to a single room, which I would have declined. In order to move around in the room, it was necessary to move sideways. Between the luggage rack and the wall, between the bed and the desk. The “desk” was more or less the same size as the footprint of my smallish laptop and relatively useless. Working was impossible because the “desk” was wedged in a corner thereby immobilising the left arm. During my stay the room was serviced only once, meaning they made the bed and changed the towels. One day the towels were taken out and not replaced but the bed was left untouched and 2 days the room wasn't touched at all. The minibar was never re-stocked. The bathroom floor had a white stain on the black marble running from the shower to the door en the door slides looked as if they hadn't been cleaned since installation. It was a huge disappointment. The hotel has a restaurant which serves reasonable food. I had the best sea bass I have eaten in 10 years. Occasionally the food swims in rather more oil than is acceptable, but on the whole it's OK. Breakfast is a huge affair with everything imaginable on offer. Quite good. However, I was immensely disappointed with the lack of care of even the basics and wouldn't recommend this hotel.
This hotel was conveniently situated about 10 mins from the centre of Zagreb. We found it quiet although on a fairly main street. The rooms were clean and well serviced but a bit on the small side. We hardly spent any time in the room except to sleep so it didn't really matter having a small double room The staff were helpful and answered any questions we had during our stay. The daily breakfast was excellent with a huge choice of hot and cold options. It was certainly the best breakfast I have experienced in any hotel abroad. For a short break to Zagreb this hotel was good value. It was near the centre but away from the hustle and bustle of the actual centre. The 10 minute walk to town after breakfast was helpful as we were so full!
A beautiful, perfectly maintained, Old World hotel in a great location, within easy walking distance to the old city. Very comfortable room and incredible buffet breakfast with everything you could want. Free parking was a bonus. The pillows were slightly too big, but my fault I didn't ask for smaller ones.
The hotel has a great location and we had large modern rooms. The bathroom was large clean and modern. The breakfast was excellent with many choices. There were many good choices of restaurants within walking distance.
From the moment you walk in, you feel you are in the right place, pleasant welcoming piano, great lobby, right downtown, but tucked away in a quiet street, with beautiful rooms and great beds/amenities
Booked this hotel after reading all the favorable reviews and found it lived up to all expectations. Old-style hotel in its furnishings, very gracious and the staff were confident, efficient and helpful. As we arrived early, our bags were stowed and we made use of the sparkling clean restroom to freshen up after a long plane ride. Delightful lemon water was provided in the lobby and complimentary coffee and biscuits all day though the rooms did have a kettle and sachets of tea and coffee. Breakfast was fresh, varied and abundant, especially the bacon and sausages while fruit was limited to rather large apples and oranges (though that was typical in most Croatian hotels at this time of year). Such a comfortable stay with beds, air-con, bathroom, WiFi in order and superbly located in a quiet street near some good restaurants, a short walk to the Old Town and near the railway station and the Japanese embassy.
This hotel is very nice and was a welcome change from a week of airbnbs. When we arrived and checked in, they gave us an upgraded room, which was really nice. The lobby is pristine and has a player piano which I enjoyed. The room was clean and comfortable and spacious. The bathroom was also large and clean - Annoyingly, the shower has only a tiny pane of glass which moves separating it from the rest of the bathroom so we got the floor soaking wet every time we showered (and there was no drain in the floor). The complimentary breakfast was a really nice spread, although a lot of the food (like fruits) looked like they were best eaten several days before. The bread selection and meats were great though. I would just recommend that the hotel gets fresher fruits and cheeses. On the morning we were leaving, the elevator was broken, so we had to carry our large suitcases down 4 flights of stairs, which was frustrating.
.There is nothing specifically wrong with this hotel, but then there is nothing particularly right about it either. The rooms are dreary beyond words, the breakfast is average in a strange dining room, and the whole place leaves you wanting to get away as fast as you can
Good location in a quiet place in the city center, excellent professional staff, comfortable room and bed, high selecton of food for breakfast, nice personal int he restaurant, good parking place - could we have more...?
Conveniently located to the parks in the Lower Town and only minutes walk to the shops, attractions and restaurants, this 4star hotel provides comfort and elegant surrounding with lots of unexpected extras like free lemon water as a refresher close to the lifts. Reception staff were friendly but professional clearing our check in and subsequent concierge questions with a willing smile. Our room was spacious (we were upgraded), comfortable and well sound proofed. Tastefully furnished and decorated, it was spotlessly clean...well except the windows. A hospitality tray was provided and the king bed was sooo comfortable. We ate in the hotel restaurant - Ragusa - one evening and despite sharing the facility with two groups, our food choices from the a la carte was well prepared, a little over salted, and nicely presented. Service was prompt, friendly and attentive. Breakfast is a feast by European standards and although busy, the buffet was replenished regularly offering a choice to suit most tastes. Tables werecleared and reset promptly. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Best Western Astoria and would not hesitate to return.
1. Very good location. Right in downtown and less than 10 mins walk through a scenic and very safe route to old town. Near the action, but not near to the point it is noisy 2. Wonderful and enclosed parking lot 3. Bed is super super comfy and room is basic, but very clean and very quiet 4. Big and clean bathroom with towels, shampoo, bath gel and body lotion all provided 5. Complimentary refreshing lemon water Reception staff is a little cold but still adequate. No complaints and a two very good nights' rest!
Would definitely recommend. Very friendly staff throughout. Lovely! Very helpful and genuinely happy to be doing their jobs. Welcoming, clean hotel. Very busy with a nice atmosphere. Fast wifi. Fast check in and departure. Room nice. Small but comfortable. Served it's purpose to sleep, shower and was clean. We were hardly there otherwise. Paid mini bar. Bar, lounge and restaurant. Nice to relax in the evening. Great atmosphere. Lobby plays nice light music. Free tea, coffee, biscuits, apples, water and sweets near reception. We did not have the breakfast although included as we are not breakfast people so early! Prefer to explore a bit first early morning and then have a late breakfast at a cafe to try different things. There are hotels closer to town this is a very simple 10 minute walk. Literally, turn right out of the hotel door and keep walking straight for 10 minutes until you reach the main square. You can't get lost. Would recommend.
We spent one night at this excellent hotel. The location is fantastic being an easy 10 min walk to the centre. We were lucky enough to be given a room upgrade which was fantastic. Our room was very large, spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated. It also had all of the facilities we expected from a 4 star hotel. Our room rate included free parking. The parking was located in a secure parking lot at the back of the hotel. The reception staff were all polite and helpful. The common areas were nicely decorated and spotlessly clean. We thoroughly enjoyed our one night in Zagreb and wouldn't hesitate to return to the Hotel Astoria.
We were travelling by train which was the main reason for choosing the Astoria, as well as the fact that it was a Best Western which we have found over the years provide a great standard with reliable staff and comfortable beds and this hotel was no exception.
Not the prettiest building from the outside but the interior is comfortable clean and well appointed. My room was a small suit with dining table for 4 A settee and chaise longue. Breakfast was good and generous. This hotel is very clean. Very good value
We stayed here with our OAT travel group. Very quiet rooms within easy walking distance of the Lower and Upper towns. Expansive breakfast buffet, clean rooms and comfortable beds with great staff. Highly recommend.
We were here just for one night but in was really good. We arrived with the car. You can park car at the main entrance to make check-in and to take you luggage out of a car. You get a parking place at the back of a hotel. The room was great, clean, very comfortable bed,... We had breakfast at the hotel. It was awesome, great offer of different food (eggs, bacon, sausage, cheese, yogurt, marmalade, fresh fruit, vegetables, cereals, pancakes, coffee, tea, milkshakes, juice...). They also have gluten-free bread and lactose-free milk. Fresh food were coming in regularly. The staff is super friendly and nice, but not pushy or “too nice - fake nice”. We had one request about parking and they made it happen without any problem. Would most definitely recommend this for staying in Zagreb. Location is great also, very near the main square or main station (less then 10 min walk both).
very good service,,and close to the most in the city. Nice brakfast and also very nice room. Good internet.Have been here before and will recomend this hotel to others travlers.Good service when you chenk in and out.
Booked from UK with Bookings.com, chose it due to close proximity to Railway Station, and good reviews on T.A. Older style solid building, no traffic noise problem noted, interior very plush and comfortable. On arrival, helpful receptionist said we had been upgraded to a larger room, there is chilled lemon water/coffee and small cakes available to guests adjacent to reception. Found room quite spacious, very clean and tidy with chairs, settee, coffee table etc, tea/coffee making facilities available in room. Bathroom of reasonable dimensions, but shower cubicle very small, in tired condition and cramped. Breakfast superb, comprehensive choice of items, and extremely helpful staff. Pleased to find both Lactose free and/or Soya milk available without having to request and wait. Hotel in ideal location, only short walk to Rail Station and in the opposite direction, short walk to the main City centre, and central tram stops. Lovely patisserie just a few yards up the road on the right from the Hotel. From outside the rail station you can get a No2 or 6 tram (4Kuna) around to the central bus station, and get the Airport shuttle bus for 30Kuna (runs every half hour).
We chose this hotel when planning out trip from overseas, sight unseen. We were very pleasantly surprised that the claimed 4 Star rating is well deserved (I have spent hundreds of nights in Fairmonts and the Zagreb Best Western Plus Astoria loses nothing to most of the Fairmonts). A solid 4++· In North America, hotels are simply never, ever, this nice. Do not be deterred by the exterior. As is often typical in Europe, the buildings all seem similar. Walk through the front door and you realize the rough stone is actually an emerald. We walked our luggage from the airport bus depot (maybe 10-12 minutes). The hotel is much closer to the train station (3 or 4 minutes), and close to everywhere you would want to see in Zagreb. Don't waste your kronas on taxis. Staff are one of the most important factors - at this hotel they are a 10 out of 10. The breakfast buffet is very decent as well. Load up and enjoy.
This location is the nicest Best Western I've ever stayed in. We were in a corner suite, which I understand is roomier than the standard rooms. The hotel was clean and comfortable, though the "twin" beds seemed much narrower than a standard twin, and the bathroom, while very clean, was very small and had a very tiny shower. The location was perfect for exploring Zagreb - about a 6-8 minute walk to the main square, but far enough away to not hear the noise from all the people and cars. The restaurant had a pretty good breakfast and dinner buffet. Also, the candy at the front desk was great! I'd definitely recommend staying in this location if you are in Zagreb.
Stayed one night at Zagreb. The hotel Best Western premier Astoria is strictly average . Size of the room is small by all standards. Bathroom is tiny. Though the breakfast offered was good. Staff was helpful and friendly. The hotel is situated a 10 minute walk from the city centre. Wasn't rather impressed with the hotel or the rooms
Stayed 3 nights. From check in to checkout all staff were very helpful. Special mention to Tea, a lovely young lady working in the bar/restaurant, who remembered my choice of drink, sat me in the perfect spot in the restaurant and has a beautiful smile and personality. Breakfast is extensive and no problem to get somewhere to sit. English breakfast tea is awful though! Stick with the espresso or filter coffee machines or bring your own tea bags if you're a Brit. My room was very small (Queen room). There is a desk at the foot of the bed with a large lamp on it. I'm average height for a female and woke several times to the sound of having kicked the lamp. Tall people should book a king room. Blackout shutters very useful! Smoking rooms available. Shower only, but efficient. Would've liked to have (good or any) English tea as an option in the room. But if you're a green tea or coffee drinker it's ok. Much better value for money than the Sheraton, where I stayed a couple of times before, and only a few minutes walk from there. This hotel seems to pay more attention to detail. Will return
In couldn't ask for more - the Astoria in Zagreb was central to everything, the staff (front end, restaurant and bar) were polite and welcoming, and the room was very comfortable. A lot of people talk about the breakfast and I have to agree it is outstanding. Just an exceptional experience. It was hard to leave.
This Hotel Is one of the Best hotels in Zagreb. I can say it Becouse of My work I Stay a lot at All tipes of hotels in Zagreb. Clean, nice rooms,Big parking one of the Best breakfast. Staff of the hotel Are always pleasent. Hotel is located near the center of the City. Higly recomended for anyone.
Good hotel at great location, good breakfast. Rooms dont have a view. Hotel has private parking lot. Service is great. It is located close to Zagreb train station and 10 minutes walk from the center of the city.
Very good for who travels by bus or train because it is just in between of the two stations and the city center. The staff was ok and room comfortable enough. Breakfast was also ok but nothing special.
Very professional hotel located in the heart of Zagreb. Rooms were good with a large comfortable bed. Breakfast buffet was very good. The only negative was the room was set at a warm temperature and made sleeping uncomfortable. Service was fine. Recommend this place.
First of all I wish to congratulate the staff at all levels for their kindness and expertise. The receptionist was helpful and very kind with that right amount of questions that makes one feel appreciated. The hotel was nicely prepared for the Christmas season with the atmosphere of homeliness. The rooms were well prepared, airy and everything needed was on the right place. The breakfast was lovely, in fact a big meal which supported you through the day. We were very thankful for the parking and its organization.
The hotel has a good location within a 10 minute walk to the main square. The convenient and free car parking was also a big plus to us as we had a hire car. Check-in was super efficient. The included breakfast was a plus with heated croissants and even a bottle of shared sparking wine; so it is surprising that the machine dispensed orange juice is so watery. Our standard room was clean and reasonably comfortable. The booking request for a higher and quieter back room was met. This was our 16th hotel room in 6 weeks of Europe travel so the smallish room certainly continued the list of non practical room features eg, a tiny shower with protruding fixtures, intrusive / protruding over bed and a wall light(s). We could not get the bathroom, centrally heated towel rail to work either. A safe, a kettle, the capacity to partly open the window and reasonable speed, free, in room Wi-Fi help give a 4 star rating overall.
We spent only one night here, but we were very pleased. We visited Zagreb during Christmas and let me say, that it was a great price for such a busy time of the year. Breakfast was delicious and there was a lot to choose from (you also have gluten free options). Rooms were clean and they had tea & coffee facilities. Staff was very polite and helpful. We also appreciated free and secured parking. I would definitely recommend staying here.
Parking was really easy for a centrally located hotel - a lot easier than any of the other properties we had stayed at during our trip through Slovenia and Croatia - simply pull up right outside and check in. The lovely and helpful reception staff then allocate you a secure parking space right around the corner at the back of the hotel. The hotel was offering complimentary hot beverages including mulled wine along with cookies and lemon water in reception which was a nice touch. We were upgraded to a huge room complete with massive TV, dining table, writing desk and couch. They also accommodated my Genius late check out request on the same day as check out so we were able to view the sights of the city before returning for a quick rest and heading off to our next destination. Breakfast was pretty good with a large selection, although we were left waiting around for the hot items to be replenished as they were empty when we arrived. Less than 10 min walk to the main sights where we jumped on the hop on hop off bus to explore further afield. Room service meal was pretty average although it came really quickly. Stairs only (one flight) to get back to the carpark at the rear of the hotel.
Normally, if it werent for the breakfast ,it reminds more of a 3 star ,than a 4 star hotel, and my evaluation would be about 3,5/5 . (but this score isn t an option here) So , Plus: great ,varied breakfast served from quite early in the morning. clean inside areas and rooms. centrally located, safe area. helping staff (in a strickly professional way), though not smiling and not really that welcoming and friendly. Minus: Small and outdated bathroom. Complicatedly settled and noisy heating system in the room. Room, in the winter, is kind of cold when u first enter! No free water is offered in the room,at least at arrival. We stayed 4 days and our bed sheets were never changed.(inappropriate for a 4 star hotel.)
Hotel sits in a very good location. Within walking distance to all the attractions. Only setback the hotel has only one elevator, so can be a wait during peak season. The plus point complimentary mulled wine, coffee and water are provided in the hotel lobby entrance. Generous spread of breakfast at the table.
Have stayed in Zagreb on several occasions but this was our first stay in the Best Western. Very comfortable rooms and public areas, generous and tasty breakfast, efficient service. Perfect for a brief city stay. Would recommend and would stay again.
Comfortable well-sited hotel, close to the railway station and tram routes. Also close to one of the liveliest areas for the Advent lights. Very good breakfast and large clean room. Excellent breakfast.
This hotel looks like the one you turn over in the brochure because you know you can't afford it. It's high end and well kept. Right in the centre of the heart of Zagreb we went for the Christmas market and it was an excellent choice. Normally I choose a Hilton or such like but this was great. We had an upgrade so I can't comment on value for money as the room we had clearly wasn't the £80 /night with breakfast I paid for. However our room was clean, ample and had everything we needed. When I walk into a hotel lobby to be greater with mulled wine and cookies and an enormous Christmas tree I am happy. Also the receptionist were professional, knowledgeable and polite. breakfast had everything you could want - full English to cheese board and cold meats to bubbles for your bucks fizz and pancakes. All I ate tasted amazing and considering it was a breakfast included in the room price it was all you could ask for and more. I am very impressed and cannot recommend this hotel higher.
My second staying at this property and another brilliant service. Rooms little bit on small size but clean, modern and comfortable. Definitely one of the best bed quality and good shower. Didn't have time for breakfast as have to leave early before breakfast but in the morning on check out take away breakfast was waiting for me (beautiful touch).Definitely recommend hotel if you staying in centre of Zagreb
This wasn't a bad hotel but it wasn't great either. Location was a bit tricky. The staff were very professional. The room was spacious. We spent only one night so I can't comment on the service. Breakfast was good.
I booked this hotel with 5 friends in September this year to go mid December for a long weekend costing over €600. When Monarch went into administration, as if it wasn't bad enough that we lost our flight money of over £700, the hotel refused to give us a refund when we informed them that we could not make it as there were no alternative flights available, even though they had over 4 months to fill the rooms. Disgusting customer service from such a large international, supposedly reputable company. We would never use this chain ever again and would advise other travelers to do the same, unless you want to be left severely out of pocket. Choose somewhere else.
Convenient location, clean and well sized rooms, decent breakfast buffet, friendly staff. Also one of the faster wifi's we've experience in Croatia which was a relief. I'm not sure if I would put this as a 5 star but a very good 4 star.
Nice rooms...we were in a small twin. Free Wi-Fi. Great bathrooms though I guess the shower stall could be a challenge for big guys. Good breakfast. Helpful staff. Can walk to all the sights from this location.
If all Best Western Premier Hotels maintain a standard similar to the Zagreb Astoria, they will give the Hiltons and Sheratons a run for their money. This hotel is walking distance from all major attractions, has an attentive staff, offers a delicious and varied breakfast buffet and has an attractive decor inside. It has class and has a different feel from other Best Westerns -- it's the next level. Superb value for money.
The hotel was in a good location, walking distance to all the sites and restaurants. Overall, perfect for our needs. And we paid a very fair price, which included a full breakfast and secure parking for our rental car. I don't usually choose Best Western's here in the US, but this one was very clean, the bed and linens very comfortable and nice. It's a small room, but as are most in this part of the world. The hotel staff was professional, tho not very friendly...but at the front desk, they took care of our needs in a business manner - so no complaints at all. I would recommend - and return on a future visit to the area. PS Really close to the train station, if you're arriving that way!
You can find better hotel for the same price in the ciy centre. Staff could be more polite. Rooms are not so bright, I would not recommended. Brekfest is ok, In total the hotel is like the hotels from comunist period.
We stayed for a week in this hotel. The front desk people were very good. Everyday they put out cookies and had coffee or hot tea in lobby even though you have a coffee maker in your room We had requested a family room since it was on sale and would have more space. We were given two rooms with a connecting door so we ended up with 2 bathrooms which was great The room gave with a full hot breakfast which was really great. The food was wonderful and they even offered Gluten free bread. It is located in a good area some museums and a Japanese botanical garden. There was the very big garden very close by. Also walkable to the old town I highly recommend this hotel.
The negative : room was typical euro small, 2 twins so get a double, we could hear the other guests a bit in the wee hours and the reception ladies though polite and efficient enough were not very friendly. The positive: The beds are really comfortable, the room was really clean, a kettle in the Room!!! and several English language channels on the telly. The breakfast was awesome with a LOT of variety with all the usual things plus a whole lot more, including caviar, champagne, smoothies etc. The breakfast lady Tea, yes that's her name, was simply out darn standing, so helpful, polite, and friendly every morning of our stay. Also they have their own very secure FREE parking attached to the hotel. We will stay here again when we visit this part of Croatia.
Only in Zagreb a couple of days but hotel was cozy and near the sights. Room was spacious and very pleasant. The free breakfast has a nice selection and free secure parking was a plus. Would recommend this hotel.
We didn't spend much time in Zagreb so we opted for a hotel with good value. For about $100, we had a protected parking space for no extra charge, a nice hot breakfast with a variety of items, a comfy although outdated room. Plus fast Wifi!!! Also great central location.
Stayed for 2 nights in September, arrived and got really nice professional welcome , room was very nice and comfortable, Breakfast was an amaizing spread , Decor is very conservative, old , but very clean . A bit cold atmosphere, Good position and close distance to shops , cafes and restaurants. Close walk to train station .
I have stayed in this hotel due to a business trip of 3 days. The reception is spacious with friendly staff. There are enough seats to relax and wait in the lobby. My room was at the first floor. The room itself is pretty small, but that ok when you are staying in a single occupied room. The bed is just average. The you enter the room and insert you key card in in socket for lights the unblind of the window is opening. This is strange when you enter your room at night. The bathroom is just good. The shower has enough pressure and is also hot enough. The rooms are good isolated so no noise is heard of the room next-door. The breakfast every morning is excellent, so you have enough options to choose of. The hotel is at walking distance of restaurants and downtown.
We stayed at this hotel on the night we arrived in Croatia. At check in, the front-desk staff seemed brusque, but we were tired after 3 flights so our perceptions may have been skewed. The lobby was quaint and charming with chilled, fruit-flavored waters, cinnamon ice tea, and cookies available throughout the day. Our room was spacious with a comfortably-sized bathroom, TV, in-room safe, and mini-fridge. Shutters operated by a wall switch did an excellent job of darkening the room. The bed was comfortably firm, and the room was well maintained and clean. Shortly after check-in, we walked to the central square then returned to the hotel bar for a drink and light supper. Our experience with the staff member taking orders was less than optimal. Our questions about menu options and an accommodation for a special diet appeared to annoy her. After a long wait, our food arrived with one order completely wrong. The staff member apologized and offered to bring another meal multiple times, but by then, it was too late for another long wait. That order was removed from our bill. The next morning an ample, buffet breakfast was included. Our check out was satisfactory, but the staff at the front desk still seemed to be a little surly. The hotel is well located within easy walking distance of the main square, the older sections of the city, beautiful train station, lovely park along embassy row, and other areas of interest. The hotel was clean and comfortable with all that was needed in the room for a comfortable stay. Our only disappointment was the way staff members interacted with us –– something that we did not experience anywhere else in our 11 days in Croatia.
From the moment we arrived until the moment we left we enjoyed the highest level of customer service. Check in was quick and efficient and time was taken to answer our questions about Zagreb Our room was on the third floor, a superior twin which was well appointed with comfortable seating and a sensible sized table. Tea and Coffee making facilities plus a well stocked mini bar. Bathroom was excellent with very good quality toiletries. Room was also very quiet and has a safety deposit box. Tea and Coffee together with cookies are available 24/7 in reception plus apples, sweets and iced lemon water. Breakfast was top class, although the restaurant could do with more tables for 2. Beware the service is so fast and efficient your place may be cleared whilst you are replenishing your plate. We ate in the restaurant on one evening and the food was again excellent. My steak was cooked to perfection. Only downside was that on this particular evening there were few diners so there was a lack of atmosphere. Hotel is well situated for the train station and all the main tourist sites. Area seems very safe. I would most definitely stay again and recommend this hotel to family and friends in fact to everyone.
This hotel exceeded my expectations. Very clean an well maintained. Friendly staff. Our room was quiet and comfortable. We had a car and they have free parking with easy access. The breakfast was good. Excellent downtown location - plenty of restaurants near to the hotel.
PROs: - Location, not far from the center of town - Free gated parking - Free breakfast - Modern room - Good price - Staff was able to convert USD to Kuna for us CONs: - Lobby smelled like grape Bubble Yum gum (reaching here obviously, but this was true...)
Very nice hotel. Very clean, excellent service, beautiful grandiose looking premise, inside and out. We were upgraded to a suite full of amenities. Breakfast is great; they even had caviar! lots of choices. Right downtown, walking distance to all, including train station.
We stayed 2 nights here at the start of our Croatia tour. We were impressed with almost everything - comfortable room, great staff, excellent breakfast and an easy walk to the towns features. Only a larger shower could have been better.
Old style hotel but that is the Charm and no surprise due to its history, spotlessly clean located at the centre and accessible to public transportation if you know how to navigate around town. Very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast sumptuous Close to city centre with lots of restaurants.the surrounding buildings are old and no view.
We stayed for two nights. The breakfast was excellent and different for both mornings with so much choice. The front desk check in and out was amazing and lovely. It has old world charm with all the modern facilities. You cannot beat the location. The room was very quiet. It could not have been a better experience.
We stayed here for four nights - as other reviewers have said it's in a great position being near the train and bus stations and within walking distance of loads of restaurants and bars. However, the decor is old fashioned and the staff just go through the motions. The breakfast, especially for a four star hotel is particularly disappointing - very little fresh fruit ( despite stacks of fresh fruit being sold on the city's market stalls) and hot food cooked in advance which then becomes rubbery and tasteless. The room in which breakfast is served is at the back of the hotel so has no windows or natural light - very depressing. Our room was large and quiet but it took two days for our room safe to be repaired so that it was useable. Our toilet roll was not replaced so we had to ring reception to ask for a replacement. It seemed to us that the hotel catered mainly to large tour groups and was less well suited to the needs of individual travellers. If we return to Zagreb we would look for alternative accommodation.
The best western hotel is well located in the centre of Zagreb. It also offers a good quality/ price ratio but it's not very good for a 4 star rated hotel. It's clean but not overly. The staff isn't particularly friendly and the lift takes forever to arrive.
Stayed here out of convenience as we were taking an early train the following morning. Was pleasantly surprised with the hotel. Extremely well maintained older hotel with the right amount of charm and modern convenience. 2 blocks to train station and 5-6 blocks to a great restaurant area. Nice comfortable and quiet hotel.
Even though it was quite full with our four suitcases, the room was still comfortable. Good beds, a frig and safe, plus closet with hangars, as well as a flat screen TV. The most responsive a/c we had in our three weeks traveling. Yay! Functional bathroom with good shelf space and magnifying mirror. Only complaint was the half door over the tub (found throughout Croatia), so the floor was almost always wet after taking a shower. Don't put your slippers on the floor by the opening. Great big bath sheets and tissues in a box in the wall. First time we encountered window shades that automatically open when you enter the room and close when you leave (triggered by your room key). Since the room faces west, this probably cuts down on heating and cooling costs. Hotel has a small elevator, but larger than others we encountered. Good breakfast spread, although it doesn't seem to change. Easy walking to local green areas, major sites, and lots of restaurants, although no restaurants on the block where the hotel is located.
Hotel is what you would expect from a BW Premier Hotel. Very nice room, hotel staff was great, lots of help in things to see and do. Breakfast was awesome and lots of it. Parking was private and locked. Hotel was in a very good area as it is close to everything. Well within walking distance.
I stayed for 3 nights in Sep'17. The hotel is about 15mins walk from the main bus station. It is about 7mins to the main square so it's very accessible. Room is very clean and the breakfast is excellent. The staff are friendly and helpful. There is also a laundromat about 200m away from the hotel. Many options for food and cafes around. Overall I had a good experience and recommend the hotel for a stay in Zagreb.
Our first night in Zagreb was spent here. We only had our night since we were heading out south the following day. It was a great stay! We were upgraded to a suite which was huge. The bed and pillows were so comfortable. The room got really dark at night, perfect for resting. The breakfast was amazing, one of the best hotel breakfasts in terms of options. Lots of breads and pastries, cold cuts, cheeses, paté, jams, caviar, champagne, etc. The location is also super convenient and they have free car parking.
Zagreb provides for tourism, full of bars, pubs, restaurants and hotels; is totally different, obviously for the better, the last time I was here, pointing out that the favorable exchange rate makes it very cheap !!! A beautiful country with breathtaking cities, not to mention its 698 islands that make it the largest archipelago of the Adriatic Sea. Friend, brotherly people; is for me, together with Poland, countries that stand out within their intrinsic characteristics in the European Continent.Zagreb The hotel provides you garage, tasty breakfast and the location of it is perfect to know practically the most of the best attractions, everything,by foot
Best service, great breakfast, spacious clean room and willing staff whom cannot do enough for you. One just has to get over the decor and everything else is fantastic. Great bed, location 10 minutes with an easy stroll to the very centre of Zagreb. So kind in letting us have a free 1 pm check out too!
We came here for one night just to see Zagreb. The location is so central you can walk everywhere that you want to go to. The room was clean and the bed really comfy. The staff were helpful and courteous. All in all a great place to stay - just about the only thing missing was a gym.
We stayed at the Best Western Premier Hotel Astoria for 2 nights in a king suite. The room had a separate bedroom with a door. The bedroom was large and the bed comfortable. The living room had a pull out sofa, desk area , a mini fridge/mini bar, coffee /tea maker and its own bathroom. We stayed on the 5th floor and it was very quiet. The master bathroom was large and had some nice toiletries. Towels were huge, too! The lobby is large and has some comfortable chairs and sofas to sit in as well as piano that plays itself. The lobby has some nice extras like water, coffee, apples, candy, & cookies. The breakfast had a wide variety of items. The taste of the food was average, but there was plenty of it as it is served buffet style. For example, the fruit was from cans ( peaches pineapples, pears) the apples were real but not ripe and spotty. We saw tour groups at the hotel so the kitchen is cooking/catering to large groups of people and the breakfast reflected nondescript banquet tasting food. The staff is very courteous. Room was spotlessly clean. Elevator can be slow, but the stairs are an easy climb and quicker. One of the things I liked about the hotel was the location. It is 1 block away from the 6 parks that form a U, easy walk to the Botanical Gardens, train station and the sites of the Old Town. If I return to Zagreb, I would stay here again.
This was a great find in central Zagreb within walking distance to all the main sights to see. The rooms were spacious enough & spotless with free wifi & all the usual extras. Breakfast was included & was excellent catering to a huge range of dinners. Food ranged from eggs of all discriptions with tasty sausages, bacon & fried vegetables to fruit, cereal, yogurt & a huge variety of breads, cold cuts of meat & cheeses. I would totally recommend this hotel for a few days in Zagreb.
Stayed here for one evening, wasn't able to sleep the entire night fought with the AC and it was constantly 76f degrees. Went to reception at 4:30am explained they said turn it up which I already had it on maximum. They called back to the room and said the central system was set 70f and we're now turning it down; so it could have worked but they had it limited so the room controllers didn't affect it. When you book a hotel with A/C I expect it to work especially when it's 67 outside. No don't want my windows open all night in downtown Zagreb
Established in 1932 this 75 year hotel located close to the Old City and the Cathedral, is a good premium option to stay in Zagreb. The old styled building with marble floored lobby the overall feeling is of a heritage style. We arrived early in the morning at 10'o clock we expected to get allotted our room trying our luck but the hotel was full and we could not check in before standard time of 2 pm. But we were given coffee, cookies etc and luggages were taken care of by the hotel. The rooms are good and of reasonable size. We had 2 single beds. Room had all required amenities like toilet with seperate shower cubicle, in room safe, tea and coffee making facility. Staffs were helpful. Breakfast was included in the room rate and good spread was made available. Good option if it fits your budget.
Being a chain hotel you know what to expect. The facilities are excellent apart from only one lift for 100 rooms over 5 floors. We only used the restaurant for breakfast, which was very good with hot and cold buffets well stocked. We had a standard double room which was all we need for a two night stay. Small but functional shower room but al clean and tidy. The hotel is well sited for the railway station and about 10-15 minutes walk away from the main square. As most of the city's restaurants are around the square be prepared for a walk if you don't want to eat in the hotel. Our room faced the main street but was pretty quiet. They have a car park out back with about 30 places but you need to check in first to get keys are to open the gate. Altogether a nice hotel.
I stayed 3 times in this hotel during the month of August. My highlight of it is divided in 2: staff' friendly service and the amazing breakfast (huge variety and the personal always there to explain and help!). As I had to come back multiple times they always tried making it easy for me. I could leave one of my luggages in the hotel for many days until coming back. The room was done very fast while I was having breakfast. Plus, if you need to print something (tickets, etc) you have a business room very user friendly. It's one of my favourite hotels all over the world as it is very client oriented! It made me feel like at home. I'm looking forward to coming back!
The hotel has a very good location, especially for the main train station. Most tourist attractions are within easy walking distance and/or a short tram ride. The hotel staff is pleasant, efficient and spoke very good English. They have a very good breakfast that helps make the hotel a good value for money. WiFi was good speed. The rooms were very clean and the toiletries were nice. The only negative was that the room size was quite small, but adequate for a single traveler.... not great for lounging around in after a hard day of touring.
Stayed 2 nights, nice room, king sized bed +sofa bed. Staff very friendly and helpful. Nice buffet breakfast Complimentary iced tea or iced lemon water in reception a lovely touch Shame stay was only for 2 nights,Zagreb great city,I'll definitely return
We've stayed in a hotel or two in our travels and this one was a stand out. So much so that we can't find anything to complain about. The staff, from reception through restaurant through room maintenance, were friendly and competent. Location is pretty much mid way between the railway station and the Centre Square. There is a laundromat and minimart within 100 meters. Our room was spacious, the bed was comfy, minibar, tea and coffee, good shower, air con, etc. The breakfast was marvellous. Plenty of fruit, cereals, savoury stuff, sausages, bacon eggs, mushrooms, all the coffees, bread city, even caviar. Lots of other offerings but I'm tired of typing. Great place to stay!
This is a lovely place to stay over. From my early arrival where the staff went out of their way to get me an early check in after a long flight from South Africa, to the comfortable beds, nice linen and delicious breakfast. It is within walking distance of all major attractions and the bus station. The tram stop is also just down the road. I was on my own for one night and felt very safe. I will definitely recommend this hotel to my friends and family.
We stay there just one night, but it was really nice... Hotel are clean, breakfast is good, fresh and have a good choices... I like piano in lobby, classical music, not so loud, makes you relax and have a good mood.. I very like. Thanks
My wife and I spent 1 night here and from the moment we walked through the door to the moment we left the warm, friendly and helpful staff were brilliant. Our room was fantastic with a well appointed fridge, comfortable bed and extremely clean bathroom. Our free breakfast the next morning was a gastronomic delight with both hot and cold options on offer. We would certainly recommend the Best Western Premier Hotel Astoria.
The rooms are nice, BUT THE STAFF IS AMAZING. A friend left her tote in a cab. THE staff cared and called all the cab companies. Thanks to them, the tote was found. The food is great especially the beefsteak.
Beautiful hotel and excellent, knowledgeable staff. One of the best breakfasts I have ever seen and had. Close walking distance to everything, less than 10 minutes walk to main square , cafes and restaurants . The lobby had free coffee and lovely homemade biscuits as well as a great basket of apples and iced lemon water dispensers. The self playing piano was a nice touch . Lovely bedroom and very good bathroom. Reliable WiFi Excellent value for money.
We enjoyed two nights of stay in this hotel. Nice rooms, service, and location. The breakfast was nice with a variety of items. It was easy to walk to various places. The main food district is 10-15 min walk. Overall good place to stay in Zegrab!
This hotel in a quiet, narrow street is within walking distance of the railway station, many squares and parks, the main square and the old city. The check in staff were very efficient. As a solo traveller, I was given a small room with a double bed. The room had everything I needed. Wifi was free and reliable. The buffet breakfast had a substantial range, with plenty of fresh fruit. A nice touch was the free coffee and iced lemon water available in the foyer. This hotel was an ideal place to stay whilst staying in Zagreb.
Very clean hotel and friendly staff. Awesome breakfast. Close walking distance to everything, not even 10 minutes walk to main square. And walking distance from shops, cafes and restaurants and historical landmarks. Good value for money.
The king size room was really well appointed ( electric window shutters for instance) , well planned and fitted out and the bathroom was very good too. How often do you notice that the loo seat was exceptionally comfortable? And all so very clean and crisp. The wifi was strong and plenty of English speaking channels available on the TV. I can't tell you how helpful the staff were because , well, it was all so good I didn't need to contact them I looked and passed on the buffet breakfast. Not a great spread and I know the local cuisine can do a lot better than the boiled vienna things on show.
I am very pleased that I chose this hotel for a number of reasons - they let me check in a bit early, the room was not cramped (the bathroom very spacious), was quiet and with a good bed for a good sleep, with a window that could be opened! The location was fantastic, with a relatively short walk to the old town centre and its many little parks. I also found the staff quite helpful (though they took a little to warm up) and were bang on with a recommendation for where to eat (according to my specifications). Perhaps the only thing that really let it down was the breakfast, which wasn't terrible but I was expecting better for the price of the room, with very little fresh fruit on the menu that didn't make a lot of sense mid summer - so I ended up supplementing with my own bought fruit. I think I would definitely choose to stay there again over other choices around town.
This hotel is great. The room was very good, people were very attentive and helpful and location is excellent. The breakfast was the best. It could not be better. Highly recommended for your stay in Zagreb. Beyond my Expectation.
Great start to our holiday in Croatia. Very helpful, friendly and efficient reception staff; in particular Andreja. So close to everything, restaurants, shopping, old town, parks; walked everywhere. Room very comfortable. Great breakfast- including champagne!! Would highly recommend.
The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable and large. The staff is very kind. People at the reception are helpful because they offered me all information. The food is delicious and fresh. Great location in the city centre.
Hotel Astoria is a very good hotel to stay in for a few days visit to Zagreb. Facilities and service are good and the hotel is situated within walking distance of many tourist attractions, restaurants and bars both in daytime and at night. Car parking is available in an enclosed area at the rear of the hotel. Staff were helpful in answering our questions and about places to visit. The hotel is good value on many levels and we would not hesitate to book this hotel again, if ever in Zagreb again..
We spent one night in June 2017. Very nice and complete hotel with fridge, kettle, hair dryer, air conditioning, good Internet. Walking distance to the city center and to the train station. Free parking and very good breakfast.
Staff were friendly and very helpful at reception desk . The room was clean and well serviced over our two day stay and breakfast had a good selection but lacked good coffee despite having a coffee machine - it still tasted of instant coffee! It was not as central as we had thought with a 15 min walk to the center - not so bad for most but for people with leg problems will need to consider this - when we booked we thought it was more central ! Really appreciated the tea n coffee making facilities in the room - not common in European hotels! Could do with adding an iron and ironing board as part of the facilities provided in the room. Overall we would recommend this hotel and enjoyed our stay .
We booked the Best Western Astoria for one night and were very satisfied with our choice. It was around the corner from the train station when we arrived. A short walk to the Upper (old) Town and other sites and it only took 3 tram stops to the bus station for the airport shuttle. Rooms are very clean and luxurious. Breakfast was excellent..even champagne for those who want early celebrations. The staff were friendly and helpful. We can recommend this hotel and will definitely use it again.
What strikes you the most about this hotel is it's old style setup. The room interiors and furniture seem from the early 1900's style, quite liked it. Amenities are good, mini bar, kettle with tea/ coffee in the room, a nice writing desk, free wifi, The hotel is very close to the city center and thats a very big advantage. They have a coffee vending machine in the lobby and a nice chilled lemon infused drinking water dispenser. The best part though is the helpful and professional staff. People at the reception were extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the nearby places and tourist attraction. The negative points: The room didnt have a view at all! Bathroom was small All and all a good place to stay when in Zagreb!
This was a very nice hotel and a good location for getting around Zagreb. Check-in was very quick for our group of 7 friends. There is an attractive lobby always with coffee, cookies and a big urn of refreshing lemon water by the elevator. Our double room was fine with everything we needed including safe and fridge. It also had a nice desk and good lighting. Plenty of plugs for charging devices. Good wifi signal in the room. Breakfast was really good with wonderful selection of hot and cold items. Also a baby corner with special food for babies. Air Conditioner worked well. Front desk staff were always available and helpful.
We had a late arrival to the hotel yet Andrea in fornt desk made that so easy, she helped us with check in, oriented us at midnight and helped me canceled my credit card I had lost , allow me to make a call to US (at no charge to us) to do so since we had a terrible delay is the US. Rooms a re great, breakfast was good but Champagne was old and rotten, better don't serve it and serve it in no drinkable condition. Good location to walk and explore Zagreb a small city of this GREAT COUNTRY THANK YOU ANDREA YOU MADE THE DIFFERENCE FOR US
We stayed there for one night. We enjoyed it quite a lot. US$110 not exactly a bargain 1Location: It is about 10-15 mins walk to the main square and old town. 2 Parking: We parked outside of the hotel for two mins, checked in, drove to the next block with the room key, parked in secured parking lot...included in the room price. 3 Room: It was a decent sized room compared to the "match box sized" Ibis styles we stayed in Budapest. Real one big bed! We encountered many two single beds combined together euro-style pretending to be one. BW offered us one King-sized bed. A real double bed. No outside window view, the view was some old building balconies. 4 Breakfast: Good coffee. It offered super variety. A real feast. 5 Service: Front desk staff were helpful. It was a good stay. We would recommend.
staying 1 night, arriving by 17:00 and leaving the next morning even before breakfast i had no preference of the hotel. so we were chosen by our office this hotel. and surprise...the parking was indeed free and nice but the room was....the smallest i ever experienced....4*??? so small rooms??? never happened...only very close was into Istanbul to another BEST WESTERN.... the room was THE BED. in front and along the bed were only 60 more centimiters....also there was a comunicating door with another room. the bed was small (120 i think....). into one corner was a tiny office furniture with TV on top hanging. on that corner YOU COULD NOT PASS....they had a shower....not bathtube...but anyway....it was clean and they had into the room coffee maker. the neiberhood was nice, walking about 15 minutes to center....so it was quite an unpleasant experience. yet into Zagreb i will book for sure other hotel next time
Very close to the main plaza, so enjoyed walks back and forth. Really loved the ambience which was elegant with some free goodies for the guests (ice tea, coffee, and water) in the lobby. The front desk staff was helpful was available to answer our questions. Our room was average size for the money we paid, so no complaints. Everything worked nicely. And breakfast included in our hotel stay had a wide selection. I would recommend the Best Western Astoria.
Great location in the city centre, very good breakfast and very comfortable beds. This is old style hotel with very tiny lifts. Very good service; however had terrible room with the view on the next building back wall. I was only staying for 2 nights so didn't mind but next time would probably ask for different room.
Very nice hotel, great brekfast with lots of choices. 5 minutes walk from main Zagreb square. Staff is very nice and car parking is secured. Will come back for my next bussines visit to Zagreb! Excellent experience.
The Best Western Premier Hotel Astoria is located on a busy street in Zagreb but it is possible to stop in front and unload before driving around the block to their enclosed free parking lot. The room we had was very nice and we were a little tired so we ordered a good dinner the first night from room service. The buffet breakfast was good and is included in the room rate. Also the front desk personnel were nice and helpful.
The hotel is well located within walking distance to the old town. We had a twin room which was clean and comfortable. However found a couple of things a bit of an issue with the room. The position of the reading lights in a twin room configuration is straight above your head which means that you can't sit up in bed to read. Also due to the position of the shower over the bath we found it impossible to have a shower without the floor and toilet getting soaked. I would still recommend this hotel - the location, breakfast and friendly staff are wonderful.
Simple things are what make the difference, charging for a cup of tea at dinner is a bit much. Rooms are small , aircon can sometimes fail and shower cubicle is very small, for price look at the others
The hotel is well located within walking distance to the Old Town. The rooms are comfortable, staff is friendly and professional. The hotel provides free parking (helped us as we were driving). The breakfast is decent.
Situated near the old part of the city, the Astoria is a conveniently placed hotel that makes walking to most attractions quite simple. It is quite literally a 10 minute normal paced walk to the central square, and about fifteen minutes to most galleries and museums. The hotel itself is a renovated older style hotel, with plenty of marble steps. The rooms have a dated style reminiscent of luxury hotels in the 90s with some upkeep; faded green carpets line the room floors, and older smaller appliances such as a yellowed hair dryer, are provided. Rooms have their own automatic sun shield hat opens when you enter the room, and closes when you leave, which we thought was a nice touch. Lighting was provided by a few lamps around the room, which gave a somewhat yellowed glow. Views from the room weren't the greatest; ours basically was positioned to see a rooftop, and another building directly beside and opposite of us. Breakfast is provided, which provides the usual fares of cereal, meats and cheeses, coffee, the usual continental breakfast items, and some other miscellaneous hot and cold food. Tables were attended to relatively quickly after guests left. Complimentary refreshments for guests were beside the elevator (I.e. Lemon water, biscuits), which was quite nice after a long day touring around the city. The front desk was polite and easily accessible. Staff were visible throughout the day working on the different floors. Our main complaints with the hotel are not deal breakers, but rather just disappointing features. There is a singular small elevator which moves incredibly slow, so if there is a large group... it would be faster to take the stairs. This could be a problem if you have difficulty with steps or have a lot of luggage. Case in point, my wife and I managed to get to our fourth floor room before the couple downstairs managed to get their elevator. It appears to be an older elevator that had its innards revamped to look modern. The other main issue, is that the internet is not reliable, and automatically disconnects users every few minutes; it was more stable to use our somewhat struggling portable wifi dongle indoors. I found this surprising, given how even in Dubrovnik, we had much faster and stable connections than in Zagreb. When the front desk was called about this (we were trying to get some work done), we were informed that the people who could help with this were not there... and no other follow up was offered. The solution was a suggestion to "call back some other time." I would have expected a bit better to be honest; even a simple "can't be fixed until the morning", or a "we'll pass on the message", would have been better... rather than putting the onus onto the guest to remind staff of the problem. Disappointing, especially from a hotel that has visible signs and notes plastered all over to reinforce the four star status it had, and the implied luxury (they even had an self-playing piano in the lobby!). Case in point, while writing this review, I have lost connection over 25 times... some of which required me to manually connect back. All in all, a decent hotel, but not necessarily one that we would return to given the other alternatives in the vicinity for the price.
We fortunately booked a deluxe double, otherwise the room would be on the small side. That said, we found it to be adequate. There are tea/coffee making facilities in the room, but not fresh milk. Tip, get the milk in a plastic cup at the coffee station in reception and keep it in the minibar, also stirrers. One major gripe. In the bathroom the shampoo, shower gel and body lotion are in long plastic tubes. Fine, they may look good but are useless getting the last half of the contents out. You have to keep banging them against your hand. Whoever signed up for these should be kicked. Breakfast is quite good, although the fruit looks and tastes tinned. Odd really when there is a wonderful daily market in the city selling excellent fresh fruit. The chocolate muffins are surprisingly yummy. The only downside was that in an hotel of this size there is only one lift. A bit of a nuisance when you get caught in a tide who have just got off or are just going to get on a coach. Staff on the reception desk are nice and will explain any touristy questions you might have. Beds are comfortable and we were not bothered by any other noise.
Great 4 star property in the heart of Zagreb - not more than 600-700 meters from almost any major tourist attraction. We had booked an Executive room but got upgraded to the Superior Executive. Beautifully designed & with lots of space. A very comprehensive breakfast was served in the charming restaurant at lobby level. Complimentary tea/coffee & cookies in the lobby. Also, refreshing lemon flavoured iced water - particularly good after a long, hot day. All in all, a hotel I'd recommend!
The Hotel is a short L shaped walk from the Railway station. Beware of cabbies as they are out to fleece. I was charged 100kuna for the ride which could have been done in 15 minutes by foot and according to the hotel not more than 15 kunas.. If you need a cab call for EKO cabs. They ply by meter . Incidentally100 kunas was a 30 minute ride to the airport from the Astoria in a EKO which the front staff so kindly called for me.. The hotel is within easy walking distance from the main square. Convenient as even the tour buses pick and drop you from the hotel. As regards the rooms they are European styled small but comfortable. The room safe is embedded into the floor and everytime you need to use it one has to go down on knees. Oldies would find it difficult. Also the kettle was on a shelf which did not have a plug point. That apart the hotel is conveniently located. The breakfast is great. They have caviar and champagne at the buffet !!. The front desk staff are all out to help you. Excellent for directions and they recommended Vinodol and Purger - two great restaurants for typical Croatian food. Would I stay again ? The answer is an obvious -yes.
Great place to stay while visiting Zagreb. Located between the train station and Old Town, both are within walking distance. Service was great. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. WiFi worked very well. The breakfast was very good with many selections including eggs and bacon. Would definitely stay here again.
An excellent the hotel within 10 minutes walk to city centre, free secure parking, comfortable and quiet room on 2nd floor. Breakfast provided was buffet style with large range of cold and cooke food, staff at desk and dining room most courteous and helpful. Recommended for anyone wanting to explore the city.
I stayed at this hotel in March for four days on business. I completely agree with all the previous positive reviews, and would like to point out another feature that was important to me as a smoker. Behind the hotel building, there is an easily accessible and very comfortable outdoor area for smokers (photo) where you can have your (complementary or other) coffee and enjoy peace and quiet. It is also worth repeating to check, while booking, whether your room has a view or not. Otherwise you may end up with a “view” like mine (photo). I had no other choice (the hotel was full) but to get used to it, on the positive side, at least it was quiet even when the window was open.
There is absolutely nothing to complain about at this hotel. The rooms are clean, the staff at the front desk are very friendly and helpful and the breakfast buffet contains an enormous variety of good food.
The best Best Western I have ever stayed. Rooms were modern, well furnished and bathrooms extremely clean with lovely shower fixtures. Good breakfast buffet and charming bar staff. Conveniently located a few blocks blocks from train station and old town. Excellent choice of restaurants with in the area.
The hotel was clean and close to the city center (~10 min walk). Breakfast had a nice variety. The room was clean, the bed comfortable and the water pressure nice. Room had air conditioning which was also a plus and the hotel wifi was pretty good. However, a single was pretty small but I don't need that much space so it was ok. Staff was nice and helpful (except at breakfast where they were nice but not that helpful--you just help yourself--some people seemed confused and the staff didn't clarify). Overall I had a very pleasant stay and would do so again.
Hotel within a 5 -10 minute walk of railway station. If coming into town by airport bus, hotel is about 2 klm from bus depot. It would be further for most hotels as the airport bus depot is not centrally located. There are taxis at the bus station but be careful not to get ripped off. Hotel is a 10 minute stroll into the city centre - suggest you turn left into first cross street and then walk through 3 blocks of parks towards the city centre - very pleasant stroll and always interesting watching the interaction of local people. From the city centre you are within a 5 - 10 minute stroll of the old town and scores of restaurants. Outdoor eating and drinking is a wonderful feature of this city. Booked a standard room with double bed. It was ok on my own but would be squeeze for 2. There are larger rooms for slightly more. Excellent breakfast with an array of cooked, continental, cereals and fruit. Staff were helpful and pleasant enough. The hotel was excellent value for money. Would I stay here again, yes but would probably pay a little more and book a larger room.
We got a very quick checkin even though we arrived a little early than the regular checkin time. Double room was spacious , though shower stall was very small. A good breakfast buffet was offered. The location of the hotel is very convenient with a short 10 minute walk to the old town and plenty of reasonable eating places around. The complimentary coffee, lemon watering iced tea and cookies in the lobby were appreciated.
The hotel is very well located, ten minutes walking to the city center. The service is extraordinary: very kind and attentive. Room was a bit small and it felt a little bit claustrophobic, but I could sleep quite well. My window had in front a very nice wall. So no views. Bathroom was clean and nice. Breaksfast was well attended and food was good.
We stayed for 7 nights and didn't have the slightest issue. The hotel is within easy walking distance from the main square in Zagreb, and from the railway station. The rooms are quite small but this does not detract from the hotel in any way. The service provided by reception was excellent, with no request being too much trouble which really made up for any imperfections (such as one small lift).
We didn't know what to expect of Zagreb. We loved the hotel and the funky city. This hotel was just great. Secure parking, great location and easy walk to all tourist sites, wonderful staff who were so friendly and helpful, amazing breakfast. Our room was so comfortable. It was such great value. We really loved our experience here and would happily return to Hotel Astoria and Zagreb. A great vibe.
Located in the new town, it is 15 minutes walk to the old town. The rooms are comfortable and in good shape but looks a little bit old fashioned. The breakfast is just amazing and the staff extremely helpful.
Reserved a larger room for 3 (though there were just 2 of us) with a king bed but the bathroom was still very small and the shower was tiny! Had to pay in advance and then pay city tax on checkout. Breakfast buffet had many choices but quality was just average (didn't even like the croissant). Found staff at front desk abrupt. Did appreciate the free parking, the wifi and the breakfast being included. And especially liked the proximity to the old city. Very good restaurants within 10-20 min walk. One day enough to sightsee this city.
I checked in here at 530pm after an accident bleeding with a broke nose and the checkin staff member laughed openly at me, his name was Antonio. He looked like a baggage guy. Not only that but he did not care. He did not call a doctor when I first asked he gave me a bandaid and antiseptic. Also. I staff helped at the rail station where it occurred despite 3 staff witnessing. I have travelled a lot of cities and things happen to me, you all of us, but I have never seen anyone ignored and laughed at after an accident. Front desk all spoke fluent English. After returning to reception and me repeatedly insisting the other staff member called a doctor but still with a smirk. Not one staff member cared initially out of 4 who saw me bleeding. There was no apology for laughing or ignoring. Doctor was very good though and polite. He couldn't diagnose without X ray. When I went back to Australia told I had a broken nose and bad knee. The room faced a brick wall (despite my Best Western Elite status) but was otherwise nice for this area despite large tour groups chugging the elevator. The lobby is lovely but this actions is not hospitality. In over 1000 hotel nights globally I have never had a staff member laugh at me twice (let alone with injury) and quite frankly that's not what a hotel should do. Other restaurants in the area including the cake shop and the nearest Croatian restaurant were very nice and polite. The hotel was in a good location and had a nice lobby and housekeeping was very clean and super polite. The lights switching off constantly was annoying though. Green lighting but motion detector not good. But first we must always care when a guest is injured, and shocked, and not laugh. No guest should be laughed at with an injury. It's sick. Seems to be attitudinal. When I left 2 different female were busy laughing at 2 older American ladies in Croatian. The staff need much better attitude. Many cities in this region are lovely but the hotel managed to spoil my trip. If you stay here bear in mind front desk seem to have a negative attitude to anybody not Croatian.
Great location for all sights in Zagreb. Room was small but nicely appointed. Fabulous breakfast buffet. Business center very convenient. Front desk staff helpful and friendly. Cookies, coffee, tea available in front lobby all day.
Room was clean, with everything works properly. Reception staff were very helpful with information for dinner, parking, point of interest, etc. Breakfast was also good. Water and coffee + biscuits were provided on the lobby. Location within walking distance to city center and station. Parkin was easy and conveniently provided. Wifi was strong and steady. Very good experience.
Great hotel in Zagreb, not the most modern but cozy one. the service is nice with very nice staff which are eager to help and please you. the room was nice and confortable. very quiet despite a central location
Located just a short walk (even with a reasonable amount of luggage) from the central train station, the hotel is also less than a 10 minute walk from the main square and a wide variety of restaurants. My room, although a bit small, was impeccably clean and well appointed. All usual amenities were available. The breakfast offered by the hotel was one of the best I have encountered in Europe. Staff are very good, with excellent English skills. I highly recommend this hotel.
Nice hotel with a very good location. Stay in the heart of the city, you can walk anywhere around town centre. Car park at the property. The room not to big, but clean and cosy. The view through back window not very nice.
Nice and cozy our room with big bathroom and a tub. Room was quiet. Has all the basic amenities and beds and pillows were very comfortable. Our room didn't have a view though just another wall. Check in and check out was very quick and efficient. We had good breakfast for the two nights we spent there. Uber to Zagreb Airport from Best Western cost 90 KN. Airport to hotel was 240KN. Snacks, coffee at lobby all the time.
My girlfriend and I spent four nights here. The hotel was clean and customer service was really good. Breakfast was very amazing as well. The hotel was centrally located to everything. The main squares, parks, and restaurants are all within a short walk. There was a travel agency right outside the hotel. Vladimir helped us with a private tour to Slovenia for one day. I could not say enough how friendly and amazing Croatian locals are. I would def stay here again.
We stayed for one night at this hotel while driving through Croatia and were satisfied with the room and service. The hotel has a dedicated parking lot with a gate, which was particularly useful for us. We also liked the varied breakfast buffet on offer as part of our room rate. The rooms themselves are comfortable if a little dated. It is located within short walking distance of the main tourist sites in downtown Zagreb.
This is an excellent location for a one-night conference or getaway. The restaurant is frequented by locals, who speak lively of the food and service. I would like to go back there. Free parking behind the hotel, secured. Very good, with an old style but clean.
This hotel is very nice! It is close to the train station and to the town square. From the town square there are signs to direct you to many attractions. The hotel is also close to tbeautiful green spaces, one of which is 3 blocks long. The rooms in the hotel are very appealing with lots of rich wood and quality bathroom amenities. There is a mini bar in the room but there is also a little market across the street where you can buy the same items for a fraction of the cost. The buffet breakfast is bountiful and there are miniature chocolate bars to top off the meal. I liked everything about this hotel and will definitely stay again when visiting Zagreb. r
We loved this hotel. We were greeted with a smile and we received all the details we needed in 2 short, friendly sentences. We were offered a parking space within the hotel's gated parking lot, which has access to the hotel as well. The room was lovely and very tastefully decorated. And the breakfast was excellent. The location is very good, with easy access to the center. We would definitely stay here again, when in Zagreb.
We have just returned from a weeks stay in this hotel and I feel that I must write my thoughts on the whole experience. We travelled independently from the UK and had the hotel booked for us through our local travel agent in Lincolnshire, and in all honesty it could not have been bettered. Our initial welcome was excellent with everything explained clearly, free Wi Fi access information given out with the electronic room card, at the side of the lift were two ice cold fresh lemon water tower dispensers with disposable beakers that were never empty during the whole seven days, and at whatever time of the day or night you happened to want a refreshing drink, just help yourself in fact every time we entered the lift I think we took a beaker each up to our room, free coffee is also available in the reception lobby together with small cakes, and a basket of constantly replenished fresh apples is also available to guests in reception as well as a dish of confectionary for those with a sweet tooth! Our room was on the fifth floor and was of immense size and beautifully furnished with a sofa, an arm chair, coffee table desk and chair and a large wardrobe, lots of wall and ceiling lights, and the most enormous bed that I have ever slept in, this coupled with a very amply proportioned en suite bathroom with bath and over bath shower head, and all the towels a couple could need, and more besides, the room servicing was also first class, and any item that was used in the bathroom was always replaced the following day, the room was kept clean and tidy throughout the week. The buffet breakfast was as others had commented probably one of the best in Zagreb, and you could want for nothing in the vast selection that was available, and constantly being replenished too by a very attentive and pleasant staff, the food was both good in quality and of course the quantity was for the individual to decide, being buffet style. The hotel had a bar that sold snacks as well as alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks and also had a short light meal/snack menu, which on the first night we tried and the food was first class, the following evening there was a buffet evening meal which was every bit as good as the breakfast with regard to variety and quality of presentation, and was thoroughly enjoyed. One aspect that needs to be emphasised is that the buffet evening meals only occur when there is a large group staying at the hotel in the latter case it was an American tour group, and notices are placed on each floor level to alert all other hotel guests that a buffet will be available to them should they wish to join the group for whom it is arranged. After this event there were no more large groups, and so we chose to take the remaining five evening meals in the Ragusa Restaurant and none of our meals disappointed us, the a la carte menu gives a reasonable choice of starters and main courses, and at the back of the menu are fixed meals of two choices of main course from Monday to Saturday, we tried many combinations of meat and fish dishes and thoroughly enjoyed them all, and regarding cost comparisons it was on a par with what you would be paying in modest restaurants in the city as we did look at a number of menus to gauge the general costs of eating out, all in we were completely satisfied with the quality and quantity of the served portions, as well as the excellent table service, both in the bar and the restaurant. The hotel itself was extremely quiet given that five minutes from the entrance lobby you were on the main shopping street of the city, so its position in our humble opinion just could not have been any better. As a city break position you are literally on top of all the main attractions, museums, galleries, shops, markets in fact the whole of the city centre and all it has to offer is within easy strolling distance, and having been blessed with a lovely week of warm weather we walked for miles to discover all that the city has to offer, and every evening after our meal we took a leisurely stroll to one of the numerous parks where you can sit among the locals and watch life pass you by, and we also found that the small off the beaten track cafes all offered excellent value for a coffee, beer or glass of wine as opposed to paying a premium for the larger cafes on the main thoroughfares, and the difference can in some instances be double the price for exactly the same article, and anyway I prefer to sit among the locals as it feels more of being part of the scene. The hotel have a selection of free guide books in the reception foyer, two of which you will also find in your hotel room, one titled "Zagreb", the other "Step by Step Zagreb" and they are both excellent introductions to the city and together with the street map that if you ask at reception they will give you a copy, and make sure they circle the hotel location for you, and then if you do as we did and divide the city into quarters, in five days you will have covered most of the really important aspects of your city break. One tip, the information bureau on the main square has one of those road toy trains that only operates on Saturdays and Sundays and a round trip on this is free, but it does not operate in the week, there is an open top bus tour that costs a lot of money, and my view is that it is not worth the outlay, but that is a personal view, as Zagreb is not a difficult city to navigate and it is not overly large either. All in all I would recommend anyone considering a break in Zagreb to seriously consider this hotel, it is not the cheapest, nor the most expensive by a long stretch, but pound for pound it is in my view excellent value for money, it has a very attentive and friendly staff, is perfectly located for everything you will need, it is in a safe area, and you would be hard pressed to find a more comfortable room for the night followed each morning by the promise of a buffet breakfast that will set you up for the day ahead. Finally on our last morning we asked the hotel reception to organise our taxi back to the airport, and were pleasantly surprised to find that the cost was only 120 Kuna for the journey, given that from the airport we had paid 230 Kuna that was some saving, but the taxi driver did explain that the taxi company that operates at the airport has the monopoly and thus can charge what they want!
My sister in law & I visited this hotel recently. It is located very near all the tourist must sees. We had a lovely huge room on 6th floor. Spotlessly clean, quiet & had tea making facilities. The breakfast was buffet style. Everything you could want including full english, cold meats, cereals & cheeses.Teas, fresh coffee, fruit juices & lovely smoothies. The guy on reception during the day(sorry I didn't get your name),was so helpful. We loved Zagreb, especially upper town. Great market every day & good restaurants that were very reasonably priced. Would recommend this hotel. 10 out of 10.
The location is great. The rooms are small but clean. Noise from the outside is minimal, but the walls between the rooms are a bit thin. The breakfast has a lot of variety--hot and cold--and is very tasty. The staff are very helpful.
If you are in Zagreb to see the tourist sites, this hotel is a few blocks walk from most of them. The rooms are comfortable, and the wifi is good. The breakfast buffet is sumptuous. There is a laundromat a couple of blocks down the street if you prefer to do your own on a long trip. There are many restaurants on the walk towards downtown. The lobby has a player piano which does a really nice job of making nice music available!
Stayed here for one night whilst passing through Zagreb. Service was very good and the location is great. Only a five minute walk from the centre of town. Decor throughout is pretty dated and could do with bringing up to date.
Very central but still quiet location, couple hundred meters from train station, 1.5 kilometres from bus station and within walking distance from the main sights. Free wi-fi worked perfectly both in room and other areas. Sometimes the tv sound from other rooms came trough walls but mostly the room was quiet. The water pressure in the shower was better than in hotels usually. Breakfast was included in the room price and it was excellent. If you have to leave early, you can order breakfast to go, which was useful for me on the last day.
This is our second visit to Zagreb and fist to this hotel. The hotel offers excellent service and is central to attractions. We were upgraded to a luxurious suite. The complimentary breakfast buffet was amazing. We will be back.
We had a wonderful experience at this hotel. We were greeted warmly and the check-in process went smoothly. We arrived by car and parking was easy since the hotel has its own secure parking lot. The location was great and it was only a short walk into the hustle and bustle of the city. The amenities were lovely (shampoo, body wash, and body lotion) and the breakfast was delicious. Would gladly stay here again if we return to Zagreb!
We choose this hotel mainly for being able to use the secure car park. It is about 5 minute walk to the main square. The bed was large and comfortable. No power outlets on bedside. The room was warmer than we liked and the thermostat could only go down to 17 degrees. We had the windows open most of the time which helped a lot. The shower was very small but had plenty of hot water. Breakfast was very extensive and very good. The breakfast staff was friendly and helpful.
The Best Western Astoria is a very nice hotel. Best of all, if you are coming by train and you don't want to have the typical fights with the cab drivers in front of the station trying their level best to rip you off, it is within easy walking distance of the station, even if you have to roll your luggage. The rooms here are nice and the hotel does have a restaurant which is pretty good if you don't feel like going out. The staff is very nice here and the rooms are amble and comfortable. No complaints.
It is central located, 5-10 min walk from the downtown. The rooms are clean and comfortable, but small. The breakfast is very good! Parking and wifi was included! Minus for elevator, only one little, and use to take long time.
We stayed here only for a night. We were confused between Sheraton and Astoria but chose the latter as it was closer to the city centre. Reception is super friendly. Breakfast was extremely good. Rooms were minimalistic, spacious and clean. All the touristy places are walking distance from the hotel.
To give this breakfast a five star rating would not do the hotel justice. Me and my mate arrived on the Saturday afternoon, dumped our bags and continued to drink ourselves silly in the rather chilly but nonetheless very pleasant city of Zagreb. A personal bonus for me is I now only have to visit a town beginning with the letter X to complete my alphabet of towns visited. Breakfast started at 6.30am prompt Sunday morning, but as true professionals we were out of our beds and reporting for duty right on cue. There was a good reason for that. Please allow me to expand. The Astoria you see allows its occupants to indulge in some sparkling wine so they can breakfast like kings. Believe me we did. three hours later we staggered back to our rooms with our curiosity satisfied and our livers shrunk to the size of frozen peas. Now, I am fully aware that fellow 'Trippies' will read this and think to themselves that they will want a slice of this particular cake. Please be warned though that you're playing with the big boys should you want to try to replicate, but having said that fortune does favour the brave. What I would say is that once you have removed the wire holding the cork in place you literally have seconds before the pressure forces the cork into an explosive missile which could easily have a fellow breakfaster's eye out.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay from the moment we walked into the foyer with the piano playing in the background. The staff were very efficient and gave us a beautiful, very spacious room which was well appointed. The breakfast was abundant with everything you could wish for. Tea and coffee available throughout the day. A five minute walk to the center of town, but there is a charming little restaurant just across the road where we had a very pleasant dinner.
Stayed here for one night. Hotel well located. Walking distance from city center. Rooms comfortable and clean. Shower area a little too small. My friend who was on the heavier side could hardly move while showering. Breakfast didnt have anything other than fresh fruits and bread for vegetarians. Price wise I would say OK to stay for one night only.
I had a room on the first floor going out to the back. The hotel offered great service and an absolute magnificent breakfast having everything you need (incl soya milk). The room was clean and my overall stay enjoyable.
Charming hotel from the 1930's but thoroughly modern. Rooms and beds are comfortable. Hotel staff was helpful. It is a 5 minute walk to the old town. If you are driving, you are following the signs to the old town square in Zagreb, "Ban Jela?i? Square" - this will get you in close proximity to the hotel. The hotel is on a one way street. Find street parking as best you can, check in, and then the staff will direct you to the parking on the next street over. You'll need your room key to open the gate to the parking lot. We enjoyed our stay at this hotel.
Smaller hotel , fairly basic. Breakfasts are good but dinner and bar are mediocre. Rooms are comfortable but shower may be small for larger people. Player piano, lemon water and coffee in hallway is a nice touch. Only one elevator which can be a problem. Popular with tour groups. There was no fitness center or pool.
Good hotel that is just out of the centre of the busy part of town. Straight away when you walk in you know this is a place of character. Friendly staff welcome you at reception. The decor is charming and a piano playing in background even if no pianist. Complimentary coffee and iced tea available everyday. Also lemon water to revive you after wandering around the city. Wonderful extra touch. Our room was a standard room which was very good for what we needed. Spacious bathroom also. Our bed was very comfortable and being on the side wing a nice quiet area. Breakfast was buffet and also good. Plenty of variety. We would recommend and happily come here again.
the hotel was good , free lemon water in the lobby is nice , location central mid way from the bus station and the city center so expect to walk 15 minutes to either , staff were helpful especially the nice guy was in the night-morning shift he was very cheerful and helpful person.
Only a couple of blocks from main square (Jelesic) with lots of bars and eateries along the way. Our room was spacious with a large bed and sitting area (2 seated sofa bed) Breakfast was extensive and delicious. A little more could be made of the bar area to facilitate and encourage socialising. The coin laundry on the next block was useful for our group of friends
Stayed here in September 2016. Had a room on the first floor. Nice enough room with 2 single beds that could be pushed together to make a double. Plenty of storage, clean and plenty of towels. Bathroom was clean and had nice toiletries. Breakfast was really good with a hot or cold selection, lots of choice. Staff were friendly and efficient. Some nice touches like iced water always available in reception (weather was very hot and humid) and they would charge your appliances at reception while you were out. This was because once you removed your key card the electric went off in the room. It is a good 15 minute walk to center of Zagreb but there are some cafe/bars and restaurants on the way. There is a lovely quirky craft shop opposite the hotel, Jasmina i lutkice, which is worth a visit if you are looking for gifts. The owners are very nice.
A short walk from the city centre and its many attractions. This is an old hotel recently refurbished and very comfortable. It has the added attraction of a private car park to the rear, free of charge. The breakfast is good with a variety of dishes.
We had been on the road in Europe for a month and it was out last night. We checked in late, approximately 8pm and had to be at Zagreb airport at 6:30 am. Reception was nice and helpful at check in and at check out. When he mentioned the breakfast to us we let him know that we would be leaving prior to breakfast. He offered to pack us a breakfast and when we checked out it was waiting for us at he front desk - AWSOME! The lobby was a elegant and well done with a automatic piano that added to the ambiance. Coffee, water, ice tea and cookies were available as you arrives as well. I was surprised at how nice it was for the price I paid. The room was standard but nice. It was clean and had coffee and tea available for free. The shower was a bit small and there was no bathtub. I was fine showering though. The parking lot was easily accessible and free. Also, well secured with high fences and gates as well as security cameras. Parking in Zagreb becomes increasingly important especially getting close to the main square of the city. We took a walk and the main part of the city is not far. We were headed to dinner but got held up at a burger festival that was stumbled upon and didn't make it. The walk was easy and fun. The neighborhood seemed safe... You will see some graffiti on some neighboring buildings as you walk or drive in, but don't be alarmed its a good part of town. It's a great hotel! Especially for the price.
The hotel is well located near the main train station as well as the historic town center. While it is relatively small but the amenities are comparable to larger ones. The breakfast was among the best in variety offered and quality of the food.
I would recommend this hotel if you are visiting Zagreb. It is within walking distance from the city centre and also from good restaurants. We found it to be clean, with a good shower and helpful, friendly staff. Only problem was with the bed which, although large, was not very comfortable. There is car parking if you need it, and plenty of options for breakfast. Also it was available for a very good rate.
Great hotel, very well maintained, nice big rooms and ensuites, and most of all courteous and helpful staff. The location is a comfortable 10 mins walk to old town. Safe neighbourhood. Free and secure parking which is a big plus. Nice choice of breakfast items. I cannot fault this place. It is run very professionally.
This hotel is busy with tour groups and English speakers and for good reason. It is extremely well-located and the staff was very helpful and professional. We arrived close to midnight after a long trip and a walk from the bus station and the clerk was incredibly kind and welcoming. The breakfast was great. The day we left, we were able to park in the back for a few hours after picking up the rental car even though we had already checked out.
We were greeted by very welcoming staff after our long flight from Australia. Room was average sized, comfortable and quiet. Had to perform contortions to get under the shower. Superb breakfast, very wide selection. Hotel is about a 10 minute walk to the old town, is also very close to cafes, restaurants and convenient stores. Would not hesitate to stay here again
Great historic hotel centrally located close to major sights with amazing breakfast buffet including champagne and caviar and professional and accommodating staff. Secure and convenient parking provided. Highly recommended.
Based on all the reviews, I expected a lot more from this hotel. Firstly, there was no bell boy to help us with our luggage which is a basic service from any 4 star hotel. It's also very old, and not perfectly clean or well maintained as it should be. Secondly, the center of town, with all the touristic attractions and restaurants, is pretty far. It's at least a 20 minute walk from the hotel which makes it not central. I'm not sure why people said it's well located. Thankfully, I'm only here for 2 nights but I do not recommend this hotel for anyone looking to visit Zagreb.
We stayed here twice on our recent tour through the Balkans. The first time we stayed in Room 316 which was spacious and very soundproof given it faced the street. The bed was very comfy and I loved the big bath towels. The hotel is an easy walk to parks (where there seemed to be free concerts every night) and not far from the downtown area. Breakfast although there was a lot of variety wasn't particularly fresh. The next time we stayed in Room 430. What a difference. We looked out at a wall, our room was small and cramped and absolutely stunk of cigarettes. Luckily it was just for one night.
Chose this hotel as was travelling solo by train and wanted to be near the station. On arrival received a warm welcome from reception who also pointed out complimentary coffee & biscuits in lobby. My 5th floor room was well equipt and quiet....great for me as am a light sleeper. Air conditioning was great & quiet. Bathroom was clean & bright. Stayed for 2 nights as exploring the sights and had a good breakfast on both mornings....choice of hot buffet food & selection of cereals fruit etc... Walked to most sights from hotel but trams were easy to use & just outside the station. Was very happy with my stay at the Best Western and would happily recommend it.
We were exhausted after a wonderful trip through Croatia, and Zagreb was our final stay for only one night. It was so nice to be "taken care of" after being on the road and staying in AirBnB places, which were all great....just like being pampered a little more! The hotel is clean, elegant, the staff were very friendly and accommodating. We had a 3:30 a.m. wake up call to get to the airport and they arranged for our taxi and gave us a bag lunch since we missed the buffet breakfast. The hotel is near the bus station, near the downtown, and not super close, but an easy enough walk to the old town section.
once we found the hotel from the bus stop we were happy enough with the hotel. very small rooms though but as we were staying only the one night weren't too worried. The breakfast was lovely and the water cooler in the lobby was a welcoming treat as we'd walked 15 mins to arrive. our choice of course. Another 15 mins into the main city area later that arvo to explore. Had very good communication prior to trip regarding booking. overall very happy but nothing to really rave about
Hotel staff: warm, happy and service minded! Hotel itself: well equipped rooms, WIFI: good speed. Restaurant: good food, Good & save parking. Hotel position: in the middle of the town, well situated. Near railway station.
The most accomodating hotel I have ever been to. I stayed one night and was coming back to stay another night a few days later. The hotel kindly held our luggage for 4 nights with no additional cost. Furthermore because we checked out before breakfast they provided a goodies bag for us to take so we didn't miss out The hotel is in a great location only about 10 minutes walk to city centre. Rooms are big and bathroom has plenty of room Staff speak very good English and are very polite and helpfull
Great hotel with very helpful staff and really near the station. Gluten-free options both at dinner and breakfast. The problem at breakfast was the GF bread, which was placed underneath the container full of croissants and guests obviously used the same tongs and dropped crumbs over the gluten free bread. A good selection of food at breakfast, but the eggs were served on toast. I asked for a fresh one not on bread and no problem.
Actually, there is nothing special that stands out with this hotel. Not in a positive, nor in a negative way. It's simply a hotel. They do what they have to and they do it in a perfectly average way. They have a parking, wi fi, good breakfast bufet, simple and nice staff. At the end of a day, it's simply a functioning hotel. If you get a good price for it, I would not hesitate booking it. We had it for a bit over 70 eur and for the city center we found that to be a good price and good enough value per money. I wouldn't, however, pay much more than that.
Great hotel and atmosphere, everything was nice: clean and comfortable room, nice and variable breakfast and the staff is really friendly. Its in the center of zagreb close to all the touristic attractions, i definitely recommend this hotel.
I was greeted by a warm welcome at the front desk, given my room an hour before check-in which was great. The room was tiny but had all the necessities, it was clean, with a modern bathroom. Perfect for one person. The lobby and eating area were nice, it had a wonderful European flair charm not some cold modern look. The free breakfast buffet was delicious with lots of choice, even gluten-free bread and sparkling wine. The location was perfect, could walk everywhere. I felt very safe as a single woman travelling alone.
We have stayed at this hotel 3 times, each time for 1 night on our way through. The hotel is perfectly situated near the old centre of Zagreb, it has free parking on site & the staff arevery helpfull. Breakfast is good. The rooms are very nicely furnished & beds are very comfortable. Great place to stay in Zagreb
Astoria is excellent hotel with past times touch. Location is superb as well as staff. Rooms are rather small but cozy and clean. Breakfast is also very good. Restaurant food is amazing and great advantage of this hotel. Recommended!
Almost excellent hotel. Very good point just 2 minutes from train station, very close to center, in a beautiful area of the city. Excellent staff in reception, very good room and very good breakfast. All this in a very competitive price.
Location was really good bevause it was close to the centre, free breakfast was amazing, rooms and bathrooms were comfortable and the staff were super friendly. I highly reccomend this hotel to anyone.
Check in was flawless and efficient and the staff were very helpful and offered great advice on what to do, where to go etc. It was a lot plusher that I expected and maintained very well. The bedroom was quite compact, this did not matter as I stayed only one night but it would have been a bit claustrophobic if I had stayed longer. The room was spotless and the AC worked very well. The one lift the hotel had was in constant demand and that meant delays, particularly at peak times. The breakfast offered was nice, a good choice of hot and cold food. It's location was nice, near the train station and about 10-15 mins walk from the old town and a lot of sights.
The Best Western Premier Hotel is a super hotel. We stayed her for one night before flying out. We booked two separate rooms as we were a family of four. The staff is very friendly and helpful. When you arrive by car you can drop your luggage in front of the hotel and then park free in the hotel parking lot at the back. The rooms are very spacious with excellent amenities. The bathroom was super clean. The bed was comfortable and air conditioning worked well. Outside the room you can shine your shoes for free. Breakfast was superb with many choices both hot and cold. Coffee / cappuccino / smoothies were great!. We would definitely recommend this hotel!
I bookended a 5 day trip with Zagreb and ended up staying here and at the Arcotel. Both are in the same area and were similar in cleanliness and professionalism. This hotel edged out the Arcotel slightly. The restaurant at the Arcotel closed at 8:30 while at the Best Western it was open until 10. I also noticed that there were other food options close to the Best Western while at the Arcotel there was not.
Best Western Astoria is an average hotel. Despite its 4.9 rating on trip advisor it doesn't live up to expectation. Check in was efficient but lacked warmth from staff. No one to assist with luggage. Rooms are exceptionally small and interior is borderline "old" and ragged. Outside looks worn. Disappointed and a lesson that a4.9 on trip advisor is not a 4.9 in every one's book. Okay for one night would definitely not stay for longer.
A lovely, clean 4* hotel which was walking distance from the centre of Zagreb. Room was a decent size, but the view was not great. Helpful staff and the provision of free chilled water, iced tea and coffee dotted around the hotel was a nice touch. Good selection of food at breakfast and the free parking was really useful given the central location.
If you are looking for a place with a good location, friendly staff and rich breakfast, you are at the right place. We stayed in Best Western Astoria for two times for our visit in Zagreb. We requested late check-out for both time and they did let us! Definitely recommend it.
Perfect location in city center and near train station. You can walk by the park to the central square. Airport bus costs about €4 and stops at Strojarska Parking ; walking distance about 1 Km by Kneza Branimira road. Quick check-in an check-out. It is better to pay in Kuna. When you pay in Euro there is a extra commission. Comfortable rooms. Ask for standard room with bath-tub ; it 's a little bit larger Good Airco, comfortable bed, very clean, coffee maker, safe deposit box, excellent Wifi, great bathroom with every day complementary shampoos and soaps. Soundproof ! Excellent breakfast with good sparkling wine !! At the reception there is coffee, biscuits, cold lemon water and apples all day long ! I hope they will keep the same service and level !!
Hotel have perfect position in city center. Rooms are excellent and spacious. Hotel staff is friendly and helpful for any necessary information. For breakfast you have large food and fresh fruit choices. Parking is included in service and just on the side of the hotel. Just perfect.
This hotel is a great place to stay for good service good quality 4 star rooms that well fitted and a good size . The loby has piano playing and the bar is stylish . Dinner has very trained waiters who know their job . The location is ideal to enjoy the city and the train station is nearby.
This hotel is located a short walk to Ban Jelacic Square of what we considered City Center. The rooms are smaller but the bath is good size. The lighting was excellent. The only con was the mattress was not comfortable - probably needed an upgrade. Dinner and Breakfast were very good.
This hotel is very cute with quaint rooms and a lovely bar. Good location about 10 mins walk to the centre. Little extras like lemon water in the foyer. The staff have great tips for restaurants. The hot water in the bathroom is a bit dodgy.
The Best Western Premier Hotel Astoria is a wonderful hotel with excellent and friendly staff. When you arrive by car just drop your luggage in front of the hotel and then park around the corner in the back. Parking is connected to the hotel but there are stairs; the lobby offers an elevator. The rooms are very spacious and the air conditioning worked great. The view was of the parking area for us but I didn't mind that at all. The Windows had automated shutters which was pretty cool as they opened and closed as you came in and out of the room. I really liked the security factor. The bathroom was very spacious as well and everything was super clean. There was a personal safe in the closet and it felt nice to have robes, slippers and really nice bathing products. Breakfast was plentiful with many cold and sweet options as well as hot entrees like eggs, bacon and sausage. The overall experience was great and my fiancé even suggested this is one of the best hotels he has stayed at in Europe. Had a really nice time exploring the city from this location. It made for a really nice loop around the city.
CONS: Air-con is centrally operated and you are not able to lower the temperature below the certain level that is fixed for the whole hotel (between 23 and 24 C). Cleaning could be more thorough - I wish I had to look under my bed. There is only one lift for maximum 4-5 persons what could be inconvinient in peak hours. Our bathroom was quite spacious but there was an extremely cramped shower. PROS: Location, free tea/coffee/lemon water in lobby, tasty breakfast with significant choice of hot/cold dishes, helpful and friendly reception staff.
Room was spacious and clean. Parking was secure and relatively convenient (a little tight though). Very good breakfast. Staff was friendly. Wifi was sometimes slow. Only one elevator that was pretty slow. Location is a little aside from the center, but still a walking distance (peaceful and quiet though).
Located within walking distance to everything, this is a very comfortable stay. Rooms are small but ok for one person. Showers are also very small. Very good service and a comprehensive breakfast is included. I got a room facing a wall, not the most exciting thing to look, but then, I spent little time in it.
We truly enjoyed staying at the best Western Zagreb. Our rate included breakfast. The breakfast choices were diverse and delicious and included champagne. The hotel is well located too many touristic activities. Our room was comfortable and newly appointed.
In 2013, we stayed at the comfortable, well located, Palace Hotel. In contrast this hotel proved disappointing, but adequate. It is about 15-20 minutes from Jelacica Square, but closer to the train station, and lacks convenient tram access. Our room #217 KNS was small. Once we put the coffeemaker onto a closet shelf and move a desk lamp to a floor corner, we found space to place two suitcases. The room had no drawer space, only four 18 inch shelves and closet hanging space. There were no nightstands with drawers or cubbies, only small round tables. Amenities included a minibar, safe, wifi, and tv. The bath consisted of a tub/shower combo with half screen to capture most, not all spray. Two large towels and two midsized ones were provided. Bed was clean and comfy with both hard and soft pillows. The breakfast buffet included both hot an cold entries, with no egg or omelet bar. Staff was friendly but only able to give us maps and limited assistance. Per staff, the hotel lacked enough room keys for each resident to have one. Thus, my husband and I had to juggle one key card. When he was ill and sleeping, I had to 'trick' the keycard operated power control in the room to operate while I went to breakfast and quietly returned. When I explored independently, I had to hope he would be awake and able to answer the door to let me in upon return. This was very inconvenient and worrisome.
Great hotel, the service at reception was very pleasent and patient ( i ask lot of questions!). The hotel did not seem new however it felt somewhat modern and very clean. The breakfast was nice (not the best) with alot to choose from and the parking back of the hotel was very practical. (in some hotels you have to ask at reception for someone to bring the car, here, you dont need to because theres a direct access) +location +clean +service +parking +room = breakfast -views Would i go back? propably yes
Nice location, 5 minutes from the main square, with lots of restaurants in the entire area. The room was clean and nice, a little small but good for us. We stayed for 2 nights and the bed and pillows were comfortable. Could walk to any of the sites you wished to see. The staff were friendly and there is complimentary water, tea and coffee in the foyer. If you walk out the Hotel doors and turn left, there is a Laundromat 2 minutes walk on the left side of the street; not expensive!! Breakfast was buffet and was great with a varied selection. Would stay here again when in Zagreb!
Visited with family July 2016 Location: Looked for a property close to Zagreb Main Train Station and not far from the Old Town- this hotel fitted the bill perfectly! From the hotel entrance- turn left and head up to the end of the street and you'll come across the train station across the road facing you, turn right and walk straight down the road and you'll get to the Main Square. Hotel is close to plenty of amenities- small supermarkets, restaurants, transport and Old Town. Hotel: Hotel was clean and nicely decorated in classical style. It looked better inside than on the outside. The automatic playing piano in the front caused plenty of admiration/amusement from the guests )- though one musically talented guest pointed out that it needed tuning ;) juicy apples were on offer at reception and there was complimentary filter coffee, lemon infused water and ?amaretti biscuits. Free wifi throughout. My main gripe was that there was only one lift! So got crowded/lots of waiting especially if there was a tour group arriving. Room: Stayed on 6th floor in twin room. Room was clean and quiet. Great to have an electric kettle in the room! :) no accompanying tea/coffee however filter coffee is available at reception and also read somewhere that if guests wanted- they could request some tea/coffee from staff. Food: Booked breakfast which had good choice of hot and cold items in buffet style- bacon, sausage, eggs, vegetables, salads, tea/coffee, juice, champagne!, pastries, cereals/museli, yoghurt. The hotel also offered a buffet dinner for 15 euro each when we were there (From 7pm-10pm) offering around 5 hot item choices- soup (vegetable), baked vegetables (courgettes/peppers), chicken, beef, potatoes. Extras such as drinks or desserts not included in the evening meal. I think the hotel also offered a la carte but didn't see anyone ordering when we dined. Staff: We found the staff to be professional throughout. Some were more overtly friendly than others. We enjoyed our short stay at the hotel and I would recommend the establishment to anyone visiting Zagreb. :)
Very centrally located near the square. We got upgraded to suite n it was really nice. Restaurants are there right opposite hotel. Could walk to all the places. Were there for a night and it was all fine. Room size is little small but not bad. Staff is friendly.
This is very elegant, extra clean and very quiet hotel. The room was spacious, well decorated and with comfortable beds. The breakfast was extensive. The staff was helpful but not very friendly, they looked angry all the time, specially the receptionist. The hotel is well located, situated in the heart of Zagreb, you can easily walk downtown (about 10 minutes). They also had a free parking space in the backyard. I also liked the idea of the lemon based refreshing water served down the lobby. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone aiming to stay in Zagreb.
I loved everything about this hotel: the reception, the staff, the location, the rooms and the large open yummy buffet! We also had free parking space. The rooms are very clean and they have everything you need. I liked the idea of the lemon based refreshing water served down the lobby, when you enter the hotel. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone aiming to have a great stay in Zagreb.
I stayed here in early June 2016 as part of an organized tour. This hotel is well located. You can walk to downtown or to the railroad station easily. The rooms are small, but the hotel is extra clean, the staff is courteous and helpful, the breakfast is outstanding, and there are two computers for use by guests in the lobby. If I should return to Zagreb, I would certainly stay here again.
The hotel is located close to the Zagreb center and it is close by to the bus terminal. There are many nice restaurants nearby the hotel. The hotel breakfast is good with many choices. The rooms are also comfortable. They offer free coffee, water, and cookies for the hotel guests which are good for customers arriving early.
Astoria keeps the high level - excellent value for money; location in Zagreb can't be better and even with many tourist groups use the hotel still a good service. Very pleasant atmosphere - maybe the brekafast restaurant could be organised a bit smarter
And elegant hotel in a good place near the city center. Comfortable setting and decorations. Standard room was quite small and old-fashioned. Sleeping was quite ok, and breakfast offered plenty of selection.
Elegant, beautiful hotel, close to the city center. The breakfast was delicious with several vegetarian or vegan options. The room was a bit small and dark. The air conditioning was a bit over - working, so the room was quite chilly. The doors and the walls are not soundproof.
We booked our first night at this hotel it was perfect for what we wanted and needed. We drove our rental car directly from the airport to the Hotel we missed a few turns but we got there finally, parking available and easy to access. Rooms comfy especially the beds. Breakfast very good selections. The hotel is in a convenient location.
This is a nice hotel - clean, quiet, comfortable beds. The free breakfast is extensive (scrambled and fried eggs, fried veggies, bacon, sausage, pancakes, pastries, meats, cheeses, fruit, breads, etc.) The staff was helpful and friendly. It's a short (10 minute) walk to the main square and old town area. It's a good value for the money.
We stayed one night in a superior executive room and were very pleased with the experience. Our room was so big that I could play multiple rounds of hide and go seek with my daughter. Equally impressive was the delicious breakfast that had a wide selection of food and even champagne for mimosas. We liked that the hotel had its own parking. It was relatively easy to get to the airport, however budget a good 20 minutes. A solid choice in Zagreb.
Great situation in with a five minute walk to the town centre. Shame about the staff who were functional at best, unfriendly at worst. The room was standard and clean. No view to speak of which is usual in city hotels. The restaurant had no windows and no atmosphere however the breakfast was very good. I wouldn't stay again.
This hotel is easy to get to from the airport and has private parking in the rear courtyard. It is in walking distance for touring the old city, museums, and restaurants. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet and a good night's sleep. The staff is attentive and friendly.
A good value for a chain hotel in Zagreb. All the normal hotel amenities, in a good central location. Tip: Make sure you ask for any available discounts and promotions, as there are quite a few of them available.
The BW Premier Hotel Astoria is very conveniently located near the main train station and main square of Zagreb. I had never been to Zagreb before this trip and found the hotel very easy to locate and get around town. The room was well appointed and very comfortable. The breakfast buffet was very nice with lots of options. The hotel provides lemon water in the lobby which was a nice perk after a long day. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend to others
I stayed here for six enjoyable nights. It is spotless, I was given a quiet room as requested and the room had a security screen on the window. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful. The breakfast is varied and delicious. Plus the price is very reasonable for a hotel in a central location. Well done and thank you.
Very good hotel within few minutes walk from the heart of the city (Trg Jelacica). As many reviewers have previously mentioned, the this BW is very "traditional" and somewhat dated. But it's very clean and completely functional. Breakfast is good, yet not the best I have seen. Service is friendly and efficient. I would stay there again if the price is right.
Very comfortable for a one night stay because it's a four block walk from the train station. Centrally located but not very close to the old town, which is about 25 minutes walk. Spacious room. Helpful staff. Neighborhood appeared very quiet for a Saturday and is not geared to the tourist.
Don't let the facade fool you, it blends in perfectly with the historical architecture, but inside its a very neatly done hotel! The rooms are cozy and housekeeping does a great job. Plus you also get those chocolates on your pillow! The staff is very friendly and provide you with any and all information you may need so don't hold back. The check-in/out was easy as well. I only used the hotel restaurant for breakfast and it was lovely! They got everything from cereal to bacon. All done well. FYI! Don't pull on that rope in the shower...unless it's an emergency! The guys come up to the room straight away! Another FYI! If you're like me and need that A/C on all the time, not gonna happen here. The hotel has implemented a system, correct me if I'm wrong, where it comes on only when the ambient temperature goes up to a certain value. But it was quiet lovely outside anyways! Location! It's about 10 minutes from the main square and it's got a few restaurants nearby and parking too! In closing highly recommend this hotel for all types of stay. Well worth it!
We had a suite at this hotel. It was beautiful and spacious, having a dining room table and chairs, small couch, plenty of other chairs to relax in, a desk to write at, luxurious bathroom with toiletries, bath robes, slippers. Tea and coffee making facilities also provided. A truly magnificent stay.
We have stayed in the Hotel Astoria a number of times and it is always a pleasure. The location is great - close to all the major areas, but quiet. The staff has always been fantastic. Breakfast is the best anywhere we have stayed. Also excellent secure parking.
This hotel is a very good choice for both business travellers and turists. Close to the city centre and easy to reach from the airport (20 to 30 mins; 110 to 200 Kr) this hotel is very well maintained and conserves most of the original charme. Some rooms are pretty tiny but all very clean and comfortable.
This is a nice place to stay with some extras that give a touch of class and individual personality. Large lobby with a piano playing all hours, lobby bar, expansive breakfast buffet. Dated, but in good repair. Solid wifi in room. Room was a little small for two people, but very quiet. Artfully appointed bathroom with tub. Service was prompt, courteous, efficient. Shoeshine machine every floor. Five minute walk to train station, 10 minute walk to main square,
A short walk from the main train station (8minutes).Most landmarks reachable by foot.Sleeping quality, room size and Wifi good.Breakfast OK.Be aware, some breakfast items might not be available if you go late. The worst coffee ever during our 24 day visit to Europe.
First class hotel. Beautifully kept and in excellent condition. Quality furnishings, large room with king size bed. Excellent breakfasts. Good location close to town centre. Friendly staff. Highly recommended.
Great hotel with a great value and superb amenities. Location is also perfect. Easy means a lot when traveling to a big foreign city and this has it..... Staff was great, parking was easy and we will be back again! This country is a complete game changer and we are always planning a return trip.
The hotel is well located in central Zagreb, an easy walk to shopping, markets and sights. The king size room has loads of space and comfortable beds. Breakfast in the morning was adequate but not outstanding. The front desk staff we very helpful and free coffee and lemon flavoured water were available 24/7.
We absolutely loved staying here - great location and the staff was nothing short of amazing! The room was excellent and so was the complimentary breakfast. Every staff I encountered were nice, courteous and friendly. I highly recommend this hotel!
I stayed just before Christmas and the mulled wine and Christmas cookies available free of charge in the lobby every day was much needed after a day out and about in the cold. Really nice room, good facilities and well maintained.
We needed a city centre hotel within walking distance of the city centre, that provided a degree of comfort and was reasonable. The Best Western Premier Astoria fits the bill. It is an easy 10 minute stroll to the main square and tram system in one direction, and 5 minutes stroll to the main rail station. Other parks are also within easy reach. The entrance hall is massive, with an older, but at the same time, comfortable feel and the front desk staff friendly and helpful. As a member of Best Western's Rewards scheme we benefitted from a free room upgrade and found our room to be comfortable, large with dining table-cum-conference desk, writing desk, 3-seater couch and large screen tv. The bathroom was also superb. Pictures of all are attached. The entry system is by electronic keycard which also acts as power card for room on entry. One additional item is that rooms have electric external, vented, shutters on room windows which close automatically when you leave the room and open when you return. They can also be operated by switches within the room so that, for example, you can have the windows open to cool the room but also have the grills down to provide privacy. The only downside we found was that the air-conditioning is only switched on by the hotel in summer months and doesn't take into consideration any unseasonal hot weather. Oh, the only lift is standard size, fits maybe 4 people comfortably but a squeeze with luggage however it's not much of a problem. The normal room costs include breakfast and this, I'm happy to say, ticked all the boxes too with choices ranging from healthy fruit and drinks to cereals, fruit juices, cold salad selection including choices of cheese and cold meats and, of course, full breakfast - all buffet self-service style. Some of the patrons over-indulged. The hotel is popular with visitors from all areas including Italy, U.S.A. and Japan. Staff are only too willing to oblige, will assist with whatever requests are made including booking taxis and, to be honest, couldn't be faulted in any way. I would recommend this hotel and would also recommend booking as far in advance as possible to benefit from the best rates, partially due to its popularity but standard room rates are a lot higher than I paid.
Upon checking in I was a bit taken aback at the small room, but size shouldn't matter, right? I won't be spending much time in the room anyway. Fine. That said, the sagging in the middle mattress, that matters. I requested a room change; nothing available. ok. well.... I requested assistance to flip the mattress (it was only slightly icky under the pad/bedsheets). Better. I went out for a walk, returned - as did, sadly, the sag. Requested a room change again the next morning. "Nothing available." That afternoon, one last effort to change. Was told they only had the same size room. Yes, I would appreciate a bit more room (and would have been happy to pay for an upgrade) but more important, was a good mattress. I was given a new room - only to walk in and see it was also sporting a shabby mattress. Ok, not worth a room change for little to no improvement. I would not consider this a four star hotel. if only for single use, then buy mattresses that will stand up to where a single person sleeps (btw, the "queen" bed is a small double - so single person has no option but to sleep in the middle). TLDR: replace your mattresses! Pros: location, free car park, decent breakfast.
Nice small, older style hotel in city center of Zagreb. Great staff. AC not so good in the warm mornings. Food ok. Room quite small but if you pay more you'll get bigger room, too. But I will come again.
Pretty basic hotel. Location was good, but rooms were very small. We were hanging things on furniture as there was a lack of storage space for us. It was clean, breakfast included and friendly staff. Otherwise there is not much to say. It is a basic hotel, with small rooms well located.
Very nice business hotel. The rooms are big and well equiped including free WLAN. The staff at the reception is friendly and helpfull. The hotel is located very near to the city center and also to the central railway station.
I am thru with cheap accommodations, and this hotel doesn't disappoint. I selected it largely because of the recognizable brand. As a big-ish person, European hotels are often small, bordering on cramped. This hotel, in the heart of Zagreb, was tight, but very nicely done. The only snag was that the shower, for someone my size, it was like taking a shower by crawling into a clear tennis ball can - made bending over a bit of a game. Still a nice hotel, and the breakfast was very nice.
We arrived quit late but they served us the dinner (even they already were almost closed). Stuff nice and very helpful. Good breakfast. very clean. In the center of Zagreb , good position for trips, visit and shopping in this historical city. The old Europe.
I returned to this hotel after an absence of almost 5 years. It is convenient for both the railway station and the sights of this lovely city. Amazingly enough the facilities of this hotel has improved since my last visit with complimentary cookies and coffee in reception and a tea maker in the room.
We stayed here for 4 nights before joining a tour of Croatia that started from another hotel. This hotel was very clean, had very helpful reception desk and the included breakfast was a hot and cold buffet that was more than adequate. It was nice to have cold lemon water, coffee and local baked cookies available in the lobby at all times. This hotel is within walking distance to the center of town, parks, train station and bus depot. Would definitely recommend this hotel.
Very nice hotel with cosy rooms, situated in walking distance to old city center. Comfortable beds and pillows and excellent breakfast. Excellent staff.I would highly recommend for business or leisure travelers.
I've been in Croatia twice. During my first trip to Zagreb last year, when I traveled to attend 2015 EuroBasket, I was strongly recommended to stay at this beautiful hotel. I spent 6 nights there in early September and found it simply gorgeous. This year I had to return to Zagreb for a business trip and I decided to book this hotel without thinking a few minutes. The hotel is in the heart of the city and can boast for its fashionable style. The staff is very friendly, ready to help you any time. One of the most important advantages is free parking area in the territory of the hotel. The parking space is so conveniently arranged that even if you get back to the hotel late night, you won't have to go through the main entrance. Instead, you can return to your room via back door. That's excellently pondered, you may not be alone, huh?!
This hotel is located a few hundred yards from the main square and shopping centre, close to station, park and art gallery. Very friendly, helpful staff. Complimentary coffee and chilled water in lobby. Buffet style breakfast delicious with varied choice. Evening meal good also. Enjoyed our visit.
Rooms were dark due to colors and low lighting. Shower was very small, which would be a problem for large individuals. Breakfast was very good and candy/coffe/water was always available in the lobby. Bed was very comfortable.
Lovely hotel with good staff. A 15 min walk from the bus station but close enough to walk to most of the sights. Yes, the shower cubicle was very small but at least you had places to put your stuff. Our room very spacious with good places for luggage.
Newly renovated hotel with parking right in downtown Zagreb, with good service, decent breakfast buffet at a reasonable price. I wasn't impressed with the bed, but what I cannot understand is the choice of tiny shower booths in a spacios bathroom. I could hardly manage to shower myself and will think twice before going through that experience again.
I had the pleasure of staying at the Best Western Premier Hotel Astoria for four nights in early May. As other reviewers have noted, the hotel is an excellent location, with comfortable beds and a generous breakfast. Penny pincher that I am, I stayed in the cheaper rooms, which were a good size and spotlessly clean. It's also about the little touches ... the free coffee, tea and cookies, and the water with lime provided on a 24 hour basis. And the staff was fantastic! Always friendly and smiling, and willing to help. i would particularly like to thank Tibor, who kindly arranged two day trips (to Varazdin and Slovenia) when the tours I had arranged were cancelled due to lack of customers. My stay at the Best Western was a pleasure from beginning to end, and I wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to anyone planning to visit the beautiful city of Zagreb.
Very nice hotel walking distance to upper and lower town. Staff friendly and helpful. Room was very nice and comfortable bed. Breakfast was excellent. We arrived after an overnight flight and they accommodated us with an early check in and it was much appreciated. Would recommend.
The title summarizes the essentials. Location - a few minutes walk to the central Jelacic Square and the wonderful streets leading off filled with splendid cafes and shops. Service - check-in was smooth, instructions of where and how to park our rental car clear, suggestions for restaurants and directions freely given. A large assortment of items for breakfast with good service at the restaurant. WiFi was complimentary with a strong signal and parking was free! Rooms - large, clean, well-maintained, security box, great bathroom amenities, fridge and kettle w/tea and coffee. The hotel was near a police station and it seemed to be in a very safe area. We recommended this hotel to another set of visitors to Zagreb and they loved their stay as much as we did! Do not hesitate to book this charming hotel!
This is a very nice traditional hotel that delivers excellent and very friendly service with nice rooms. The standard room that we had was the least expensive and though it may not be the largest and had no bath it was very well appointed and not at all cramped. Room upgrades are available. The servicing of the room was very good. The room was spotless. There was a very good selection at the breakfast buffet. Something for everyone. The hotel has a small comfortable bar, a recreation/meeting room with board games a books and computer room. The hotel is quiet quaint with its nod to traditional standards and service and a nice feature is the complimentary, coffee, cookies, flavoured water and fresh fruit available all day. It is a straight forward 10 min walk into the heart of Zagreb. Even closer to the train station and 20 mins to the bus station from where you can travel all over this region. We really enjoyed staying here and this would be high on our list if we return.
We decided to go into Zagreb a day earlier and managed to find this wonderful hotel, right downtown with free parking just beside hotel. Rooms: medium-sized and very comfortable with full Coffee and Tea making facilities. The beds were inviting us to turn in early after a long drive from long drive from Zagreb. Service: always ready to help with every question and even allowing us to park in front for 10 to 20 minutes.. Food: breakfast restaurant in together with a room and it was quite a feast with everything you wanted to eat for breakfast. Overall highly recommended to stay here with easy access to most important sites and a rare hotel with parking included in the room without extra charge.
The Best Western Astoria is a really nice hotel in a convenient location, e.g., central rail station, trams, main shopping/dining area, parks, etc. It is also only about a 15-20 minute walk north to the funicular that goes up to Zagreb's old town. Our hotel room was relatively small but quite comfortable and with all of the usual amenities. There is a free breakfast with a large variety of choices. The front desk staff was wonderful and arranged for a "take away" breakfast as our flight home was too early for a return trip to the buffet on our departure day. As well, my wife found the bathroom hair blower to be "weak"; the front desk staff readily provided a "stronger" one for our use. The hotel has a parking lot in the rear, as well, should anyone arrive via car. Hotel Astoria is definitely recommended and is likely less expensive than some of the other nearby hotels such as the Sheraton.
Stayed here solo last week as part of my Balkans trip. It is a great hotel for a stay in Zagreb. Conveniently located near the train station and a 10 minute walk to the main square. Then they have an extra service where all day they have free coffe, tea, cookies, and water with lime which is available in the lobby, small things like this makes your stay much better. Stayed in the 5th floor and I had a good view of apartments which was not bad and refreshing. Service was good. Internet connection was good. Breakfast was sufficient and the usual offerings.
We stayed 2 nights, we were made very welcome. The car parking was a big bonus as I noticed that the surrounding streets were rammed with cars! The hotel was close to the main square and streets leading off it with Bars and Restaurants. Wide choice for breakfast. Would definitely stay there again
Many more positive than negative observations about this hotel...the location was very good...walkable to retail, parks, squares, etc. were all nearby...the hotel staff was friendly and helpful...the room (suite) was very nice with a sitting area, a bath and one half, well appointed and clean...the bed and bedding were good and conducive to a good night's sleep...the bath was nice and spacious...the step-in tub high side walls in order to shower could present problems for elderly or challenged...the unremarkable breakfast buffet was my definition of Euro standard with over cooked, dry, scrambled eggs...there was only one elevator which is clearly problematical...with those minor negatives, I enjoyed my three night in the Astoria.
The Best Western Astoria is a comfortable property that fit all of our needs and exceeded my expectations. The interior property is nicely maintained and the staff are professional and courteous. We had two rooms, one with a king size bed for two which is the norm for European hotels and a queen bed in the other for a single which was considerable smaller as other reviewers have noted. The breakfast is good and you have a large selection of items. The property is within walking distance of restaurants, shopping and outdoor markets. The only issue I had with the hotel was at checkout when I was using Kuna's and my credit card to pay for the room. The receptionist who was training and I didn't realize until I got to the airport that she did not return my credit card. Upon checking my email the hotel had immediately notified me of the mishap. I immediately cancelled the card and requested the hotel to shred it, which they notified me that it had been done. I would not hesitate to stay here again.
one of the nicest hotels in zagreb i have been. staff is very flexible and professional, hotel is nice, breakfast also. the only minus was shower with pressure a bit too low and hot water was not really hot.
I had difficulty rating this hotel because there about the same positives as negatives. On customer reviews everyone raved about the breakfast and I believe this influenced most of the positive ratings. Yes the breakfast is great and the staff here are wonderful. But the shower in our room was about the size of a telephone booth for those old enough to remember what a telephone booth was. It was really difficult to shower. The room was very small. OK I know this is Europe. The weather is cold and damp and the heating system was so slow to produce any discernible amount of heat. So taken all together, I can't rate this hotel more than average. I like it but I don't think I would come back again.
I really enjoy staying here, nice people, clean hotel, good rooms, delicious food. Located near all interesting places to visit. I would love to stay there again one day. You won't regret choosing this hotel.
My son and I stayed here for a couple of nights recently and were really impressed. Our room was spotlessly clean, the staff were very helpful and the food and drinks were well priced and excellent quality. The location is very convenient as well. I loved that free coffee and little cookies were available at the front desk so that you could wait for tour operators and enjoy a break at the same time. If I am lucky enough to visit Zagreb again I would definitely stay again. It's fabulous.
It is a wonderful Hotel and employees are very kind! Rooms very comfortable, clean and nice. Breakfast with everything you want! Zagreb is a beautiful city and the Hotel is 400 mts.of city Centre so you may visit many places just walking!
Six of spent two nights here. The staff was nice and helpful. The hotel is good and worth spending. Location is convenience to walk to the Center, closed to nice park. Hotel provides good parking. Breakfast offers are variety but could improve the quality to make it perfect. Overall, we loved the stay.
The Astoria has been my home away form home when traveling through Zagreb. A wonderful and kind staff. Rooms are laid out well and quiet ! The bar is fun and the restaurant is very fine. You cannot get a better early a.m. hotel breakfast anywhere else in Croatia. I am always hurrying to other destinations when I stay there and just decided to come back during Advent and splurge for a whole restful and pampered week. One great hotel !!!!
BW Premier Hotel Astoria is one of the best hotels I have stayed at, including some of the higher priced luxury providers. If there is space available this is definitely a great choice when visiting Zagreb. It is very close to the main train station and all the sights. Thank you for a great stay
This is a really nice hotel, located very close to the central station and the city center. The stuff is very helpful and friendly. The rooms are spacious and quiet but their decoration is a bit old fashioned. The breakfast (inclusive in my rate) was very decent but the dinner menu had a lot more choices, especially local food specialities, that were really tasty. A very nice hotel for a few days visit in Zagreb.
location is a big plus - very close to Zagreb central station, easy access to airport (max 20 mins by taxi) and very close to city center and all attractions and business make this property the best in town. no wonder it is a trip advisor recommended property already !
I was pleasantly surprised when we arrived at our hotel in Zagreb after a long day of riding in a bus. The hotel lobby is beautiful, and we were quickly off to our rooms. The room was lovely with a comfy bed, minibar refrigerator, and spacious room. I had one of my best meals at the evening buffet one night. They called is "Croatian Lasagne." It had another name, but I can't recall. It was delicious! The morning breakfast that was included in our rate was wonderful. Lots of choices. The location of the hotel was great. We were very close to the main part of town. We didn't have a beautiful view, but the location made up for that. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.
We found the staff very friendly, rooms well equipped , facilities great and breakfast more than ample. We highly recommend this Hotel which is also within easy walking distance from the rail station.
This is a nice hotel in downtown Zagreb a few block from the old town center. Rooms are large and clean, same with bathroom. Breakfast is good. Staff was nice and parking was available in a secure lot behind the hotel. A nice hotel without exception.
I had a very pleasant stay here. The hotel was very centrally located near the station and about 10 minutes walk from the main square. The service was welcoming and helpful. My room was really lovely with a comfortable bed and a good bathroom. I also liked the toiletries. The room was clean and the wifi was fast. It was also fairly quiet with minimal street noise. I ate in the bar and the food was very good, well presented and served. I also liked the breakfast especially the pancakes with jam which were very tasty. I also liked the little extras like the free coffee or water in the lobby. I would definitely stay here again as I think it's a good hotel.
The hotel looks old as a first impression. From the outside it is not at all impressive. The staff is really great and the check in tells you you picked up a good hotel. The rooms are nice, classical and large. Free parking at the hotel is also a great commodity. City center is at walking distance.
This was one of the best hotels from the BEST WESTERN chain hotels that I have stayed at. It was Clean, the staff was curtios and helpful . The invluded breafast was a bonus , it allowed us to enjoy a healthy meal before beiginning our day. Very pleasant experience .
From the moment we arrived we felt we made the right choice in coming to this hotel. We were upgraded with our room which we didn't expect and we even got the chance to check out later than 12 (which btw doesn't happen everywhere). The personnel is very professional and the service is excellent. Special thanks to Tibor go tried to help us from the very beginning. I'm definitely coming back!
This hotel is well located to visit the citycenter. Nice restaurants are at walking distance. The hotel has its own parking, ideal for travellers with their own car. The hotel restaurant has a nice kitchen. The stuff is friendly and very responsive to the guests need.
The hotel was virtually dead in February. Check in was friendly and the rooms are spacious and nice. The breakfast is very good with much choice. Rooms with no air con on in February and with a bar across the road it can be a little noisy but not intolerable. The location is great being less than 10 mins to the main square and 5 mins away from the train station.
First and foremost, we were happy the rooms were heated enough (we hate cold rooms during winter and it happens even in posh hotels, so many times). The accommodation conditions were perfect and I think they have the best and safest private parking in all central Zagreb (which also for us was important). Not to mention free. Breakfast was perfect, we had many good choices as vegetarians (including soya milk). We also dined two times in the hotel restaurant and food was perfect, also the waitress was the best we have seen, so professional and helpful and nice. We recommend the sea bass in baking paper. We will surely come back to Astoria any time we will be in Zagreb.
The location is convenient and is just around 10 mins straight road walk to the city centre or sightseeing spots. The bed is comfortable and breakfast is good with wide range of choice. It also has a nice compliment of coffee and cake at the reception.
This hotel is in a good location, an easy 10 min walk to the main tourist centre. The staff are friendly and professional. The rooms are clean and serviced daily. There are lots of nice little touches like complimentary coffee and iced water with lemon in reception. The breakfast buffet had a huge range of food. There's free wifi thoughout the hotel. The service and quality in this hotel represent excellent value for money.
After a 10 day stay in Croatia / Italy, my husband and I were dying for an American-style hotel that had clearly-marked signs, working AC (with a temperature that WE could set), and an elevator large enough for the 2 of us AND our 2 suitcases. Best Western Premier Hotel Astoria delivered! The check-in and check-out were smooth, the room was spotless and spacious and the location was perfect.
Older hotel, but modern conveniences. The public areas were very nice and the people at reception couldn't have been more helpful. The room was smallish, but fine. Comfy beds and towel-heating bars in the bathroom--perfect for drying laundry. Breakfast was plentiful and the dining room was very nice. Containers of cold lemon water were just outside from the elevator, which was great after a long day of sightseeing. Coffee and cookies were available in the lobby. The location was a short walk from the train station, but still an easy walk to the city center. A very good restaurant, Restoran Purger, is right down the street.
A medium price hotel with a high value for money. The rooms are fully equiped, minibar, quality bath items, coffe in the room, nice big TV. nice breakfast and very friendly staff. worth staying! make sure you book early enough as it is not easy to find a room.
Friendly and welcoming staff, registration process quick and smooth The breakfast is good with enough choices The rooms are clean and big enough Hotel is about 5-10 min walk from the city center Peaceful
Best Western Premier Astroria in Zagreb has THE most service minded staff. Everything in that hotel is working from: parking lot for your car, guidance from the staff about what to do and to see, lovely breakfast, Cold Water and coffee available in the calm reception area with a lovely smell and music. Enjoy!
Very clean room. Friendly staff. Excellent breakfast! Tv picture o.k sound is soughing. Very quiet. Best hotel in Zagreb!!! Parking perfect with no charge. Location perfect. Shower cabine is a little bit small.
Overall I thought it was excellent. I stayed here with two friends (3 adults, 2 rooms) on two non-consecutive nights five days apart, and on the second stay, the front desk staff recognized our car and had our room keys ready by the time we walked up to the counter. The rooms, though small by U.S. standards, were up to date. Everything was very clean and in good repair. Front desk staff and restaurant / coffee bar staff were friendly and very professional. It is easy to walk to restaurants and cultural sites in the Zagreb City Center. No-hassle parking was included. I read on some other reviews that some guests thought the breakfast to be just average. I thought it was well above average for a continental breakfast, particularly since it was included in a hotel at this price. No idea when or if I'll ever be in Zagreb again, but I'd definitely stay here again if I go.
We love this hotel and always come back! Staff and hotel policy is so professional but still warm and welcoming even this hotel is not so small...very well maintained and clean.Breakfast as always perfect and rich. One of adventages is, also, great free parking which is situated in Junija Palmotica str. so if coming by car go there directly - very practical.Special greetings to wonderful receptionists ::)) Thanks& see you guys again!
Our trip to Zagreb we stayed at the Best Western Astoria. A very impressive hotel a great value. It is centrally located in the historic district, a short walk from all the historic sites. The breakfasts were great, having a good selection of hot and cold items. A great stay at this hotel.
Small room, but impeccably clean and tastefully furnished. Very well located, within walking distance of all that is essential to see in this pleasant European capital. I am beginning to sound like a broken record, but I can honestly say that the staff of every hotel where I stayed in Croatia and Bosnia were incredibly professional, friendly and accommodating. The staff of the Astoria were not the exception. They too, provided excellent service. Breakfast buffet is abundant, but even though one can tell that every effort has been made to make it special, it only succeeds in being average. I like what Best Western does with their European properties and would not hesitate to stay at the Astoria, again. Special thanks to Tibor from the Front Desk!
I had a very pleasant stay here. The best thing about it was the friendliness and warmth of the staff who were amazingly accommodating. The hotel itself was clean but the decor is slightly dated. The location is right in the centre of Zagreb so convenient for walking everywhere. The only bad thing about the stay was the quality of the breakfast. Everything else was good. Good value for the price thst I paid.
This location is within walking distance of all central Zagreb attractions and nearby the central tram switching location. The property itself is lovely, with a very helpful staff and private parking as well as fast wifi and an extensive breakfast buffet. The rooms themselves are somewhat larger than the standard european hotel room, as the bathroom was also a good size.
Stayed for 3 nights in December. Around 20mins drive from zagreb airport. Located close to G kolodvor tram station and at a walkable 10mins distance from B Jealacic square. Stayed on top floor .good room with spacious bathroom but no good view from the room. Wifi connectivity was good all the days. Bf spread was good with options of boiled egg/scrambled egg/pan cakes, juices and fresh fruits and cereals.Coffee was disappointing. Staff at reception was warm and welcoming. They had kept coffee & wine in thermos flask near reception area which was good to have as you come from outside cold weather. Bus station around 7 mins by taxi. Overall a good experience!!
Only 2 minutes from the city center (shopping streets). Good food, clean rooms, friendly staff,.. as every Best Western hotel! Private parking is a must in a city center! Zagreb is a city you must visit!
We only stayed overnight at this hotel. The room was smallish, but the bed was very comfortable and the room interior was pleasant & clean. Breakfast was quite a lavish spread & made for a good start to the day. The hotel is well located within walking distance of the train station and at the moment the abundant Christmas markets.
Nicely decorated and well maintained hotel in Zagreb, in Petrinjska ulica, 5 minutes from main square "Trg bana Jela?i?a". We stayed for 1 night, good breakfast. Hotel has a parking which is a big plus, because it is really hard to find a parking space in centre of Zagreb. There are off course cheaper accommodations, if you don't have the budget, but this hotel is good value for money.
Standard hotel in the pretty convinient location just a few steps away from the many sights of the city. Staff in general is polite and well trained. Closed and secure car park free to the hotel guests is important, if you are staying in immediate downtown vicinity. Rooms are large enough, overlooking the street.
I really enjoyed this hotel. Easy to get back to after a day in Zagreb, and a nice breakfast buffet. The dinner buffet was somewhat lacking, however. But the staff was very helpful and I really enjoyed my room. One of the best on that part of my trip.
An excellent hotel in the centre of Zagreb, with a large, free, secure car park at the back.Shops, markets, bars and restaurants, and the main train station are all within a five minute walk. I cannot think of anything that I didn't like about this hotel, although I wasn't impressed with the dinner buffet. Other than that, the staff were very friendly and helpful, with very good English, the room was very good (everything worked), and the sun shone!
Stayed three nights at this centrally convenient hotel and cannot fault it. Had a really comfortable stay and the staff could not have been more helpful; One of our party of five needed a wheelchair and this was organised for us. Thank you to all the staff especially Renata for all their help.
This is a lovely hotel we could not fault it The food was lovely and it's ideally located. The staff were so friendly and went out of their way to help us with all of our sometimes complicated requests. We would recommend it to anyone visiting zagreb.
This hotel is a located on a non-descript street. However, don't let the surroundings fool you. It is an excellent four-star hotel. The size is right; no extended long hallways to your room. The staff is friendly and very capable. The hotel is quiet. The buffet breakfast is excellent. To my wife and myself perhaps the most attractive feature was the location. It is walkable from the train station and bus terminal, five and ten minutes respectively. Going five to ten minutes in the other direction one passes several of the major Zagreb museums and can get to Jelacic Square and the market, cathedral, additional museums, and restaurants beyond. I consider this hotel a great value.
We came here based on all the positive reviews and weren't disappointed. We are happy to report all the very positive reviews are accurate. Reasonable prices for a first class room (just under $100 in Nov 2015 for bed and same room suite with upgrade). Nice touch: champagne at Sunday breakfast. Plus, breakfast is very big by standard European standards: several types of eggs, bacon, sausage, lots of cheeses, fruits (fresh) etc. etc. Very minor point--yes, it is a central location in downtown but you'll have to walk five or six long blocks to get to all the restaurants and pubs. Highly recommended!
What I liked best about the hotel is its location. All sights are very walkable from this hotel. The train station is at most two blocks away. The hotel is very well maintained and the breakfast buffet was very good. I stayed in the queen single room and the room is SMALL. There was barely room to walk around the bed. The bathroom size wasn't bad though the the shower stall is tiny. Despite its size, I did find the room to be very clean and decorated nicely. I recommend this hotel wholeheartedly and would stay there again if I ever found myself in Zagreb again.
Have nothing to complain about the hotel, it has been great pleasure staying here. Breakfast absolutetly perfect, very helpful stuff, clean room, excellent loacation and pricewise very good considering all above. Only disadvantage is that you are obliged to pay in local currency only, not EUR or USD. Suprising for the quality of the hotel!
Very kind staff, absolutely clean room and toilet. Plenty of choice at breakfast. All known landmarks of Zagreb you need to see are nearby. Everything is reachable by 20 mins of walk, prices are not too high in cafee bars and restaurants. Parking is on the opposite side of the building, well equipped, secured, and free of charge.
We chose BW Astoria due to its location - very close to the Sheraton Hotel which was the venue for our international seminar and within walking distance from nearly all Zagreb landmarks. And from the very start we liked the lobby interior and the receptionists' attitude, especially after we were kindly offered a free upgrade for two executive rooms! Our executive room was spacious and cosy, with two windows and a view of the beautiful cathedral spires. Besides, the room had a lot of perks that made our stay really enjoyable. The staff were always ready to help no matter what we asked for. The breakfast can really please all tastes. We highly recommend the Best Western Premier Hotel Astoria if you want to feel home away from home.
We arrived at the hotel after taking the shuttle/tram from the airport, tired from a long journey. Unfortunately, I had made a reservation for the wrong day - the next day! We started to panic. To our surprise, we received the best service ever. The woman at the front desk must have seen the terror on our faces and felt sorry for us. Not only were we given a room (thankfully they weren't fully booked), we were given a suite on a top floor at no extra charge! What a great stay. Unfortunately we were there only one night and they were fully booked for the last day of our trip. Our room was quite comfortable and spotless and good wifi. Service was impeccable. The location is fantastic for walking into town. Breakfast elegantly presented and scrumptious. It was very convenient for catching the train to Ljubljana the next morning - about 5 minute walk. This is a hotel with incredible value for the money. It's how all hotels should be. Kudos to management and staff for a wonderful hotel in a great location. Stay here if you can.
Very good hotel close to city center. Very nice but little small rooms. Good service, very nice lobby and lobby bar. Excelent breakfest wwith huge choice of different good quality food. Free internet and very good value for room rate
My wife and I stayed here for four nights and we wished we had had more time. Our room was great and very clean and done every day. The breakfast is a real treat with a wonderful selection to suit every taste. It is centrally located and walkable from the train or bus station, though the latter is a 15min walk. Staff were most helpful and dealt with all questions and have conversion plugs for electrical accessories if you have forgotten to bring your own, which we did. Location is perfect for all places you might like to visit and the central square is a 5 min walk away turning left out of the hotel; you can see the cathedral up at the top of the street, Do not miss the Gostionica Purger at Petrinjska ul. 33, just up the street on the right as you go into the centre excellent home cooked local food at a very reasonable price. This a a really worthwhile city to stay and relax, easy to relax though we were working.
We enjoyed a 3-night stay at the Best Western Premier Astoria. Our room was spacious & attractive, with a very clean, large bathroom. There was free, private, secure parking behind the hotel for our car (rare for a city hotel). The location was fantastic, within walking distance to the attractions in the Upper & Lower Town. The hotel provided free WiFi & complementary filter coffee & cookies. The breakfast buffet had an extensive choice of hot & cold foods, breads & pastries, & even champagne! The staff were extremely nice & helpful. We highly recommend this great value hotel & would definitely stay there again if we get back to Zagreb.
The Astoria was the last hotel on our eight month trip around Europe. We finished our travels here on a great note as we were upgraded to an executive suite for our two nights, which meant we had a lovely big room and bathroom. We found staff, both at the front desk and in the restaurant, to be efficient, helpful and friendly. We ate at the restaurant the first night as we'd arrived late in the evening. The food was just what we felt like, tasty and reasonably plain, and it was great having the buffet so we didn't have to hang around being served after a long day of travel. The breakfasts were really really good. There was so much variety: lots of delicious breads, cooked food, cold cuts and cheese, fresh fruit, cereal, yoghurt, fresh vegetables, and cakes too. Some things changed from one day to the next which is always nice. I also liked that the hotel has an inviting, carpeted staircase near the lobby so that you aren't skulking up and down the back stairs. We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel - our 66th bed since leaving home!
Very happy I stayed here. Room was classy and comfortable. Wasn't huge but more than suitable. Staff were helpful. Location was very good with transport nearby and a walkable distance to tourist spots. Breakfast at the hotel was amazing. Wish I had more than one stomach! Very close to the main train station which was handy as my legs weren't in a good mood that day. Recommended and would stay again without a second thought.
We stayed here for two nights and it was a lovely hotel. Walking distance from everything we wished to see in Zagreb. The room was clean, tidy and had everything we needed. The breakfast was perfect too, lots of variety. We spent an afternoon sitting in one of the parks and buying some lunch. Zagreb is very chilled but with lots to see and do, and some good nightlife spots and restaurants. I would definitely recommend Zagreb and the Best Western for your stay.
This hotel is quite nice and the room was comfortable. The buffet dinner was fairly good with a lot of options, very convenient (especially arriving at night) and good value. Breakfast was okay. Service was pretty good, although when we went to check out in the morning there were quite a few people doing the same thing, as you would expect, but they only had one person working behind the desk so it took a while to check out.
My husband and I were at the BW Premier Hotel Astoria for two one-night stays, and we liked it. On our first stay, we came from the airport using public transportation (Croatia airlines shuttle to bus station, then tram 2 or 6). On our second stay, we had car and it was convenient that there's free, safe paking on the premises. Both rooms that we had were very comfortable, the first one an upgrade to an executive. They were clean, the beds were comfortable, the bathroom - with a tub - was spacious. It was nice to have coffee and tea makings in the room. We had the buffet, both at breakfast and dinner. The breakfast was included in our room rate, but we paid 15Euros/person for dinner. The dinner buffet was good value with an ample selection of dishes. From our two-week stay in Croatia, we found that the meal prices in Zagreb, Dubrovnik, Split, Hvar were comparable to many cities in western European (15-20 Euros/person) Trogir was a bit cheaper. The hotel is walking distance to Ban Jelacic Square, the main square - where there's a market, and to the Cathedral. On our second stay, we happened to be there during the Zagreb Chamber musical festival, and we attended a lovely all-Mozart concert. I would recommend this hotel for the rooms, the service, and convenience to transportation and tourist sights.
The room is beautifully appointed. Wonderful sheets and pillows and comfortable bed with loverly blue bedspread. Lovely cup of tea was easy to make. Didn't want to leave. Uptodate with everything including LG T.V. Large towels and drying rack. Shower is a bit small but works out fine. Unique "marker shape "shampoo, etc. that adds to the enjoyment. Breakfast was everything you could imagine. Restaurant staff willing to get whatever you needed such as a pitcher of water with ice. Desk staff unfortunately we're not very friendly or helpful. About 10 minutes from the main square
After 4 international flights and many hours of travel we received a warm welcome at the Astoria. Staff were great and helpful. Room was more than adequate and location excellent to old city center attractions.
Has maintained its old time ambiance so doesn't feel like a chain. Service is great with coffee , tea and piano music in the lobby. Very convenient to most attractions. Huge breakfast buffet with plenty of choices. Only had a three night stay but could hAve spent longer .
The staff are very friendly,,nice and clean room,,,great location,,,,,great breakfast,,sorry but the coffee is terrible,,,,,only Nescafe available,,,,,even when you purchase a coffee from the bar,,, it's still Nescafe,,,,,,,everything was perfect except the coffee,,,,,,,,,
Pros: Overall everything. But having free parking was a huge plus. Cons: The parking is a floor below the main reception area that can only be accessed by stairs. Elevator would be nice for carrying luggages up and down. Location: The hotel is fairly central to all major attractions. The main train station is only a few blocks away that can be a good starting point for exploring We had a very pleasant stay. The hotel staff was very welcoming and willing to help. They made some good recommendation on what to do and how to spend our limited time in Zagreb. The rooms are updated and very comfortable. Everything appeared to be very clean and fresh. The breakfast had so many choices that anybody could find something and plenty of it. Highly recommended to all. We would definitely stay here again.
The hotel is situated within a 10 minute walk from the centre so great location. The hotel is very clean and the staff all speak very good English. Superb breakfast buffet, certainly can set you up for the day! I did however have 2 moans, the wi fi is next to hopeless and there is never anyone serving at the bar. I spoke to a couple who said one night their party waited for around 20 minutes for someone to come and in the end they gave up and went out, I myself had to go to the front desk twice to get some service ( it was raining and couldn't be asked to go out !) Overall though good hotel Finever anyone st the bar serving, One evening I we
Our room was lovely. Large with all you need, a good bed, chairs, table, nice bathroom. I didn't enjoy climbing into the tub but the shower was very good. There was so much food for breakfast, everyone had what to choose and enjoy. In center of town.
Stayed at this hotel for one night great location. Arrived early had booked twin room but were offered family room with adjoining door - great upgrade for us ! Loved the art deco, clean tidy hotel with friendly helpful staff. Free tea and coffee and water available in foyer The breakfast was a highlight great choice of cold and hot food and yummy raw pure comb honey Good free WiFi connection would recommend this hotel
This is a really beautiful and authentic hotel for lovers of art deco, especially the entrance foyer. The staff were helpful and efficient (particularly since the WIFI didn't work in my room and I had to be assisted to find a place in the foyer where it did work) and the breakfast was expansive and couldn't be faulted. Each of us had booked a queen room, and to my mind this means a queen-size bed, but Croatia has a different interpretation. The bed resembled a king single, and certainly wouldn't sleep two people comfortably. Like most European hotels, the rooms were very small, but overall the staff and the ambience compensated for this.
The staff is very friendly rooms are spacious and clean. WiFi was not very good as I only had signal near my door and not my desk Beds slept well shower is ok but not functioning as should. The fancy shower is a joke and needs replacement. All in all all good hotel for excellent price ratio
I stayed at this hotel for one night. I found the room to be quite small although it was very nicely furnished on par with what you would expect from a fancy hotel. The building seems old, but management has done a nice job of making the experience of staying there feel modern. When you enter the room and insert the key card into the power slot, the window curtain would slowly rise open. This was a bit of a gimmicky feature but it goes to show that the hotel is making an effort. The free wifi worked well. The hotel was within distance of the train/bus station as well as the city center. The breakfast was surprisingly good. They had lots of good hot and cold choices. They even had a bottle of champagne in case you wanted to make yourself a mimosa!
