Learn more about Zagreb
The capital of Croatia, Zagreb is an attractive city with an excellent geographical location. The cultural and economic centre as well as the administrative and political centre of Croatia, Zagreb has become a destination of choice, attracting holidaymakers and business travellers alike. Book your hotel in Zagreb in one of our hotels and enjoy a cultural stay in the Croatian capital.
The city of Zagreb is characterised by two facing hills that are home to two rival districts, each with a very particular atmosphere. Gradec, the merchant district, is the historic heart of the city. This district is full of baroque palaces, cobbled lanes and sumptuous colourful façades for you to admire. Also stroll along the Strossmayer promenade on the ramparts, which offers a magnificent view over the whole of the lower town. St Mark's Church with its colourful roof is also a must in Gradec. On the same square, you will find Banski Dvori, the seat of the Croatian government.
Kaptol, the religious district, with its mini Montmartre, is a pleasant place for a stroll. This is where you can discover Zagreb Cathedral, which dates from the end of the 19th century, and walk along the Strossmartre esplanade, where the atmosphere will remind you of 1920s Paris. In the lower town, shops, green spaces, modern buildings and many museums await you. Wander among the stalls of Dolac Market, known as the belly of Zagreb, and taste local specialities.
Explore the many cobbled lanes and observe the old mansions and original architecture that tell a whole chapter of Croatian history.
During your stay, go for a walk in the city's green parks, enjoy the ever-lively café terraces and discover the many museums where historical and artistic heritage will be revealed to you. After a well-deserved break at your hotel, head out again in the evening to enjoy Zagreb's nightlife, which is also very pleasant in the warmer months. Concerts are held all over the city.
