Our first praise must go to the fantastic staff member who checked us in. He was very friendly and polite - unfortunately our visit coincided with a holiday in France so many local restaurants were closed and the hotel does not have a restaurant... The reception staff kindly recommended a nearby burger place (which was excellent!). The room was very comfortable and had been cleaned to a high standard. Our room featured a balcony that looked out onto beautiful vineyard hills and parts of the town. Breakfast was good quality (I often judge a breakfast by the standard of the coffee, which in this case was great!). Whilst it was a little bit tricky to find the hotel initially by car, I would say that the location is fine. I would also say that it is worth traversing into Villefranche for this hotel because it was a great stay.
My husband and I stayed here for three nights when we were in the area for a wedding. The hotel staff were consistently pleasant and helpful. Check-in and check-out was efficient. Staff spoke a multitude of languages. An iron and ironing board were provided upon our request. The hotel's location is very convenient to the main shopping street in the area, although we visited during summer holidays when many of the shops closed for a week or two and just left a sign in the window. The room and bathroom were immaculate - the housekeeping was consistently excellent throughout our stay. Wifi worked well. Parking was easy to come by, and there is no cost if spots are available in the courtyard. While the hotel has a single elevator, it moves quickly and never caused us any delays. Only a couple small things that could be improved: first, the bathroom amenities consisted only of one soap in a dispenser and a small bottle of lotion. While the soap is meant to be shampoo/hand soap/shower gel, it just seemed out of place in such a nice room to have such minimal amenities. Second, the television channels were very limited and the reception was spotty. This isn't a place that you should need to watch much television, but we found it somewhat frustrating when the connection would often cut out during the evening news before bed. Overall, a very comfortable stay.
The staff were exceptionally organised, friendly and helpful upon our arrival and there was plenty of parking available. The rooms were a highlight - spacious, stylishly decorated, an incredibly comfortable bed, and shutters that ensured an undisturbed night's rest. Only stayed one night, so didn't have a chance to use the gym. Restaurants within walking distance, and a lovely park across the way to enjoy. Breakfast was pretty standard, with a good selection of options available. I would definitely stay here again.
Nice and clean, very nice people, good atitude. Good speacking english, helpfull. The only thing that wasn't very good was the fact that every day for breakfast it is served the same food, and after 5 night it's start to be anoyng.
Stayed in this hotel for 3 nights for a business trip. Great location in the centre of the city. Some nice bars and restaurants nearby within walking distance. Hotel is modern and clean. Rooms spacious and large comfy bed. Free WiFi- good Air con - good Daily room servicing- good Breakfast - simple but nice and a decent coffee machine too! Would reccomend this hotel to anyone travelling within this area. I will be coming back here for future visits.
We had an overnight stop here returning from the Alps. We asked for a family room that would allow us to bring our cats. The room was in the annex behind the main hotel, and it was perfect because it was nice and quiet. It was a duplex with the lounge below and the bedroom upstairs, the stairs were quite steep but no problem for us.Spotlessly clean and comfortable. We took breakfast , which was a bit steep at 11€ per head but it was well worth it for the choice and quality of the food. All of the staff were friendly and welcoming. I would definitely visit again.
Stayed fir 2 nights as part of a group attending the Beaujolais Marathon. Reception staff were super. My room was lovely, clean and comfortable. We had breakfast both morning - well worth the €11 supplement, really enjoyed it all! Super hotel, would recommend and will be back again in 2018!
On an overnight stay we thoroughly enjoyed the luxury of choosing a very big room with big comfortable bed, tea and coffee making facilities, lovely bathroom and wide choice at breakfast cooked or not and newspaper available, all for 99E( breakfasts included). Coffee machine also available after hours near Reception. Very happy with our stay!
Well placed, with bright fresh and modern rooms. Decor is nice with well appointed bathrooms. We had a comfortable night's sleep and enjoyed good views over the tree lined town square from our top floor balcony. There is a hotel car park however make sure you reserve a place at the time of booking. I neglected to but there was plenty of on street parking across the road (usually pay to park but was free on Bastille day). We had to leave early so didn't get to sample breakfast but if the rest of the hotel was anything to go by I'm sure it would have been good. For an overnight stay en route to the Med I would not hesitate to stay here again.
It is my second stay at this hotel, so that says I like this hotel. Villefranche sur Saone is a nice town and the hotel is very pleasant for a stopover. Villefranche is like a main town for Beaujolais, like Beaune is for Burgundy. This time a had a long conversation with the young and new hotel manager. That makes you feel at home. Rooms are neat.
Great family room with separate living space for our family with three small children. Air-conditioned and very clean. Nice breakfast with good selection in nice and clean restaurant. Free parking in courtyard.
The title says it all. Very quiet hotel (although it felt as if there weren`t many guests which could account for it) with comfortable, clean rooms. In fact, the whole place seemed very well kept. Good quality shower and even a modern bath if you`re lucky. Air con/heating worked well once you`d mastered the instructions. Breakfast was satisfactory with all the usual types of food, although a limited choice. Car park out the back a bit small, but fine for us at the time. More parking (paid) on the square in front and I think the hotel has its own garage (at a cost). Would definitely recommend a stay here.
Arrived on a Sunday night with family, booked a family room, which was a room across 2 levels, plenty of space (our room was in an annex). Working air con, quiet, comfortable, spacious. Reception staff helpful. A bonus rarely seen on the continent was the presence of a kettle with tea and coffee! Very welcome to thirsty British families.
Good location in a quiet square close to both the railway station and the centre of town; decent-sized room with comfy bed, kettle, minibar and big bathroom; gym; very quick check-in and -out; friendly and helpful staff. Would stay again!
We have stayed at this hotel many, many times before, its a great stopping off point between the UK and the South of France. Modern rooms, has been refurbished recently, comfortable, clean and convenient. Good parking, and if you driving a special bike or car, they have a private garage for 7 euros extra a night, although the hotel car park is fine. Hearty breakfast, and away you go, just another five hours to Nice and the eternal sunshine of the riviera.
My room was large, looking out onto the Park across the road. I arrived by train and it is an easy few minutes, flat walk to the hotel from the wonderful station (where the staff are very helpful). The bed was very comfortable and there were tea and coffee making facilities. The bathroom was large and the towels great! The breakfast was fantastic! I loved every minute of my stay here and would definitely stay again. The main street is just a few minutes' walk. Great position.
I really enjoyed this hotel. It was really clean and modern. The bed was comfy and had a nice tv. The only thing that bothered me was that the shower area had no door so it was completely open to the other person in the room. Some privacy is good...
We stopped here for two nights on our way to the South of France. The hotel has been modernised and was very comfortable. It is well positioned for shops, restaurants and bars. Staff found to be friendly and very helpful, enjoyed our stay.
Great hotel to stay for one night to continue your trip to the south. Wel did sleep very good. Relaxed to continue our trip. Parking for free on the back of the hotel. Request for a room at the front.
It is a good choice for a one night or more. I stayed here on my way south to mediterranean on a holiday. The rooms are very good and the personal give you a warm welcome. The hotel does´t have a restaurant, but there is many just around the corner.
I am french but live in South Africa. My father booked the whole family as my brother was getting married nearby. We spent 3 nights there and have nothing to complain about. Had numerous whatsapp call with my wife in South Africa. Internet was never a problem. Some people complain about sizes of the rooms. I don't see any problem. It's not your home. It's a hotel. If you want big well pay big. For me I would not hesitate to stay there anytime. Being in South Africa for 10 years now and the buffet breakfast offers plenty of choices and I couldn't get enough. Simply fantastic. Keep up the good work.
Nice clean room, small bath low pressure on the shower, wifi good friendly staff not overly expensive. Breakfast was a buffet and 9 euro, the staff where a bit reluctant to replace things when they ran out but especially the orange juice and eggs.
This hotel is a typical three star French hotel. The rooms are basic but comfortable. Hotell staff is friendly and helpfull. The breakfast meets the expectations. The location is located at a charming typical French town square. Pricing is correct for what you get.
This hotel was listed as the best hotel in town? The rooms are small, modern, and clean. There is no provision to store your clothes, except a closet for hanging items, be prepared to live out of your suitcase. Bed was comfortable, but my sleep quality was bad, I was awakened several time a night due to noise. The internet is horrible, the worst I have every experienced. Do not expect to work online due to the internet repeatedly going offline and pages taking an eternity to load, if ever. I had to call the front desk regularly to inform them of the internet being offline again..... The breakfast is the same every day, it is high quality and well supplied. The breakfast staff are fantastic, keeping everything in perfect order. Housekeeping is excellent, the room was always spotless after their daily service. I was in room 506, it had a nice view. Be aware, this room has a bath tub, it is very awkward to step out of for older people.
Having requested a quiet room we were a little put off to find that we had been allocated one giving onto the main square where there was a fun fair in full flow (with shrieks from customers as well as a medley of music blaring out). However, the reception staff assured us that the rides would close early evening which was, indeed, the case. The room was fine though rather small and we struggled to get the air con working. For the rest it's a pretty standard BW offering with an adequate buffet breakfast (poor coffee though) and good parking alongside (locked in the wee hours). The hotel restaurant, which was quite highly rated in the past, has been closed for a couple of years I understand but there is a 'partnership' with three or four establishments one of which we successfully tried. All in all, not a bad place for an overnight stopover if you're in the Lyons area and don't want to stay in town.
Placed in the center of the city, it is a modern structure, easy to be found, right in the front of a big square. A small parking lot is available on the back. Rooms are small, clean, with a nice bath and a comfortable bed. WI-fi available in the structure, quick. Quality of sleep was good, temperature ok. Breakfast in the ground saloon, an interesting variety of international and continental buffets. A good Nespresso coffee is available from the main lobby upon request. Check in and out can be quicker, so pay attention if you are in a hurry. A good ratio quality/price as most of BW hotels.
Good location for business in Lyon, close to Airport St Exupery and in beautiful area to visit for leisure, especially if you like Beaujolais wines. Going into Lyon at rush hour is not advisable, but not impossible. Just take your time. The nice bathroom with fantastic shower deserves a special mention :)
We stayed at this hotel as an overnight stop on a long drive from Spain back to the UK. Our room, at the front of the hotel, had a small balcony overlooking a square. It was well equipped and very well maintained. It was not the biggest room in the world but perfectly good for a one night stay. It was spotless and the bathrooms may well have been recently refurbished. There was ample parking. The hotel is centrally located and there are a large number of bars and restaurants within easy walking distance. For what we paid, less than many of the budget chains, this was great value for money. Added to that the town is nice to walk around to find somewhere to eat and just a short detour off the motorway. Highly recommended.
What a great hotel! Excellent value for money, helpful and friendly staff, free onsite parking, free breakfast for the kids with great selection of cooked bacon, scrambled egg, croissants, cheeses, yogurts, fresh fruit. Rooms were modern with satellite TV and fast wifi service. We had 3 rooms and all had been refurbished with excellent bathrooms. No restaurant on site but a great location with several choices minutes away on foot. Highly recommended!
Stayed twice on the way to and from skiing. Having driven 600 km the bed was superb. Staff recommended a restaurant nearby which was very good. A short walk from Carrefour if you needed to stock up at non inflated mountain prices. Overall with breakfast included a great place to stop.
I stayed one night on route to Milan. I drove a large van and found parking with out blocking entrances impossible. I went in the hotel and asked for advice and the receptionist came out and pointed out a place which would be OK a great start. Easy to book in and the room a standard double was very large and well appointed with lots of modern devices. The shower was superb. There is a small bar next to the reception and the breakfast was first class
Loved this hotel. Centrally located with plenty of free secure parking. Attractive location minutes from high street and good selection of restaurants. Large room, comfortable beds and modern bathroom. After spending a week in old stone provencal cottage this was the epitome of luxury. Yes definitely will return as Best Western are consistantly good and reasonably priced.
This hotel has modern, spacious rooms, a capable staff and a convenient location near the railroad station and the historic district. We found it to be a good base for making a day trip into Lyon via TER commuter trains, which run often. We liked our Room 511, on the top floor facing away from the street, with a view of the Beaujolais hills in the distance. The room was a bargain at 82 €.
We stayed in August 2015 on our way back from a trip through Europe. On the way down we stayed in Town at the Ibis - what a mistake. It was being re-furbed, there were no concessions to guests and the place was a total mess. So when we returned on our way back to the UK - we chose somewhere else; the Best Western. Opposite a small park, with a busy bar on the corner and a fabulous restaurant 2 blocks away - this Best Western is off to a good start before you walk through the door. The place is immaculate, comfy air con, quiet large double rooms, fabulous breakfast and great staff. Can't fault it.
Very well appointed hotel. Free secure parking, free wifi, mini bar, English TV, kettle. Room very modern and clean, well fitted.good central location for the town. Breakfast good with a fair selection. Thoroughly reccommend.
The hotel is on the road, even thou the road does not appear big and busy IT IS. Cars go all night. Even thou windows appear modern and have metal shutters - they do not provide any sound insulation AT ALL. I could not sleep all night from the traffic noise, traffic noise non stop. I asked for a quiet room on the last floor. What did I get? The noisy room with the windows on the road on the first floor. Even thou they have a court yard and windows in the court yard, and another building in the court yard. And the hotel did not appear all busy, so it is not like they were overbooked. When we came to the reception to enquire about the city, map and breakfast one receptionist was busy with the clients, and another was playing on a computer, even thou she saw us. I had to motion her to come, obviously playing with the computer was more important. Breakfast is not included in the room price and is way too expensive - 11 euros. We bought us subs in a patisserie across the road - 4 euros per sub, freshly maid, patisserie opens at 6 am. The room is equipped with kettle and tea and coffee. The room was all right - spacious and tidy. If the service was better and the room was quiet I would give a better review. But for me it is important that a room is clean AND QUIET. This one was not quiet. I will never stay in any Best Western hotel ever again - we have been staying once in Verona, the service was not good as well. Also I must add there is absolutely nothing to do in the city. Why did my husband chose to visit it is beyond me.
This was a one-night stay: the hotel is in the city centre - five minute walk from the station and just next to the main historic street but in a quiet, leafy road-cum-square with little noise. The room booked was a single but I was upgraded at no extra cost to a large double room, with separate bath and lavatory, tea-making facilities, mini-bar, safe, a hanging cupboard with - oh bliss! - proper skirt hangers. All the rooms have air-conditioning, useful as I was there during a heat wave. The breakfast was reasonably varied and copious. The service was excellent (I had asked for an iron and ironing board and both appeared within minutes; after an early check-out in the morning, the staff offered me water when I returned to pick up my suitcase as it was a blisteringly hot day. I was also recommended an excellent local restaurant for lunch. The front desk staff could not have been friendlier, remarkable for a big chain hotel.) My one niggle was the state of the wifi - an unsecured connection so be careful when using it and unfortunately the morning I left it didn't function in the room itself but did work in the lobby. The staff came back to me to make sure I had been able to connect in the lobby and I presume they had the room wifi checked out. I would definitely stay here again and recommend this hotel to friends.
This hotel is well placed for both business and for those that wish to visit the beaujolasis region. The hotel is close to some really good resturants from a one Michellin star to more typical resturants. These tend to have english menues and most speak some english.
Villefrance sur Saone is a vibrant little town at the edge of the Beaujolais great for visiting the local wine growing area. This hotel is of a good standard with great staff, most of which speak a high level of English. There are some great restaurants close to the hotel, even a one star restaurant.
We came here for a wedding and stayed 2 nights. The hotel is perfectly located, a few minutes away from the train station. The room was fully renovated, wifi was working perfectly and breakfast was good!
Nice rooms, clean and well run. Good service. Delicious breakfast in the cozy breakfastroom. Unfortunately, the hotel's parking spaces occupied, but there was good parking facilities outside the hotel. The city maybe a little sad.
