« Great restaurant and very close to main street »

Hadn't stayed here for a while but restaurant is a stand out.. great selection and friendly staff makes for good place for a vist to Tamworth if you don't feel like venturing out into town. Some of the rooms are okay but you can see its an older motel but renovated a while ago, but they have a wide selection.. Still a good spot for a Tamworrh experience at a reasonable price, but definitely try the in house restaurant.. They aslo have a bar area with an open fire which was great concidering the cooler temps in late May. If you base your stays on friendly service you shouldn't be disappointed.

    « Comfortable stay »

Not far from the main shopping area. Surprisingly quite even though on the main highway. Continental breakfast included. Staff friendly and room clean , functional and comfortable. Bathroom had been refurbished. Parking was just outside the room.

    « Would go back »

Recently had to stay overnight in Tamworth for my daughters sport. I chose this Best Western from Trip advisor reviews. I was not disappointed. Great location, extremely tidy room and friendly helpful staff. If I ever go back to Tamworth I would stay here. Also could easily stay for longer than 1 night at this Motor inn. Be aware their are several Best Westerns In Tamworth, this is the best of them.

    « Wonderful experience »

From the moment I was greeted by the friendly receptionist, my beautiful well appointed and comfortable room, to the complimentary breakfast I cant recommend this motel highly enough. I will certainly stay here again.

    « Sports trip »

All the staff were faultlessly polite and helpful. The room was very clean, beds firm and comfortable, temperature easy to regulate in the room. Breakfast was adequate with a little more variety hoped for. Only down side was the noise and noise the difficulty blocking it out. Bathroom window didn't close fully and the door was hollow core. Truck and traffic noise woke us up, but seemingly all Tamworth motels are on busy roads so good luck getting a quiet one.

    « Clean and comfortable. »

I had previously stayed here but on my past couple of visits, it was booked out. My work managed to book me in for 2 nights which was great. It's reasonably positioned in relation to the main streets, fast food restaurants and Woolworths. I walked everywhere once I had booked in. The room was well presented and comfortable. It has a restaurant but I didn't have dinner there but did have breakfast on my last morning. I would certainly recommend it if you are in a hurry as I was. I look forward to staying there again.

    « Size matters »

Room was great and clean. But was disappointed to find out breakfast included was only continental and you were asked to upgrade. You feel cheated. Ordered room service, a 300gm steak would have been lucky to be 150gms. Couldn't believe it! What was there was cooked perfectly though. Wouldn't recommend it and wouldn't bag it...

    « Tamworth »

The price paid was a little high for the Value as we saw many other accommodation places that looked to be good. The breakfast was barely worth having. Only white bread, cereal, and the barest of extras. The beds however were very comfortable.

« In desperate need of renovation and a good clean »

Room 52 - Thankfully we just stayed overnight. Booked a standard room; and expected it to be clean and basic. It was neither clean nor basic. The room was very old, nothing like the photos on the website. It needed a good clean. The bar fridge was ancient and made noises all night, woodwork was falling apart, shower screen was broken, shower head was horrible too, tap in the bathroom was missing the cover and was filthy. The couch was horrendous; very grubby. I would not stay here again.

    « Good value »

We stayed last night at the Sanctuary Inn this is our second visit. The first time we were on our Harley and as the owner is a member of HOG we got a special deal. The staff are very nice the room is clean and the food is delicious and to much for us to eat. Keep up the great work.

    « Great room »

Great room for overnight stay and the bed was so comfortable the best I'd ever slept on for a motel. Breakfast was included in reasonable priced room. There was variety for breakfast and was very well set up. I would definitely stay again.

    5
    « Room 55 - exec spa suite »

Room 55 - Exec spa suite made for a relaxing couples weekend with my nearest and dearest hubby. The room is worth every cent and is with out a doubt the best spa suite I have ever stayed in. Fire place, bath in bed room, glass in to shower, large Tv , the works

    « Value for money »

I have stayed at the Best Western Santuary inn in Tamworth on numerous occasions I find this hotel is second to none in the way of bang for your buck. The customer service is exceptional by the staff, the rooms are always clean and tidy (you can smell that they have been cleaned), the beds are alway made with crisp white sheets and are very comfortable to ensure you of a good night sleep. They have fantastic pool and spa area which is great to relax in. The pool area also has a BBQ area for the use of hotel guests Free WIFI and Foxtel is available You can also get a free gym pass if required The Riveria restaurant is one of the best I have eaten in. They have a huge selection of different types of food to cater for everyone You can get home made fired pizza to fish to massive steaks and different pasta dishes Been away a lot I don't feel like going to the restaurant all the time so I quiet often have room service , which is the same quality food that is served in the restaurant I cannot speak highly enough of this motel

    5
    « We had a pleasant stay »

First time staying at this hotel and we were thoroughly impressed. We booked directly on their website and rooms was just as the pictures showed. I can't speak for others, but we had a pleasant stay. Our room had been recently refurbished. Room number 8 close to reception. King bed, LCD screen w movies channels / sport and Foxtel. Air con worked sufficiently.

    « OMG I couldn't believe it! »

We had our first trip to Tamworth. We had never been to Tamworth and I did quite a bit of searching and reading reviews to choose a hotel. We were staying a few nights and wanted somewhere clean and comfortable. The pictures on the website of the rooms were nothing like what we received. We had booked a long way in advance so it wasn't last minute. The room was so old that everything was in really bad condition. I have never stayed anywhere this bad before. It was not the fault of the cleaners as it is impossible to clean worn out timber or rotted timber under the fridge. The cleaners can't repair the cracked walls or the stained furniture. This was not the welcome to Tamworth we were looking for. As we are due to visit Tamworth frequently for the next year we would certainly not stay here again and would certainly discourage friends and family from this Hotel. We have attached photos of the room we stayed in. Be sure not to walk on the carpet. :(

    « Clean »

Nice stay at the sanctuary inn for 2 nights over the weekend. There was such a bad storm on the road so we pulled in late at night, we were lucky to take their last standard room which was very comfortable and clean... room was $129 and it included a good spread of continental breakfast too

    3
« Okay for an over night stay. »

Comfortable bed. Nice spa bath but you need to be really tall to reach the plug. Didn't like the glass block tiles in the bathroom, don't need to see who is sitting on the toilet :( . The bathroom needs an exhaust fan. Towels are large and soft.

    « Weekend away »

My wife and I have spent the weekend in Tamworth staying in a standard room . Absolutely enjoyable . We arrived Friday night to check in and were greeted with a big smile and hello . The room was very clean , and quiet at the back on the ground floor . We would not hesitate to stay again . There are a lot hotels in Tamworth and I don't think we would bother even looking else where .

    5
« King room on ground floor the way to go »

Others hotels should take a leaf out of this Hotel's book. Décor is quite nice the rooms have been kept well. Our king room was great, I think it's the way to go. The service was professional, friendly and the food in the restaurant was top notch on both nights that we ate there. Check in and check out was a breeze

    « 2nd stay in 6 months still excellent »

Great country stop over choice. Nice to see the same staff remember you over such a period of time! This time was over Easter and complimentary Easter eggs were an Egxellent welcome addition ?? . Nice to also see some extra additions to the dining room menu. Who doesn't love a good old pizza? Very quiet even though it's on the high way just like very other hotel in tamworth, it's impossible to avoid.

    « Mr »

We booked this motel after visiting their web site. Requested a first class room as shown on their site. When we arrived we were given a room that did not remotely resemble the room shown. The room was full of dust and generally poorly presented. My wife complained and was told that was their twin refurbished room yet it was not light clean and bright as shown. They did not care. On leaving she pointed out the dust and suggested the manager should inspect it. I would never stay there again.

    5
    « Easter break »

It's the little things that make your experience at a hotel one to remember. From the welcome water at check in and the complimentary chocolate Easter eggs over Easter, The staff at hotel are enthusiastic and clearly love where they work. Our room was better than most best westerns. Thanks from room6

    « 2 night stay »

Nice motel only 2 min drive to tamworths peel street and a 1 min walk to the country music hall of fame. We firstly got a room on the hwy great room but a little noisy, on asking we were moved the second night to a up and down stairs room.Well appointed with all you need. We made use of the pool both days(pool towels in room). Staff super freindly and continetal breakfast was a great touch.tassie couple

« Pet friendly and friendly employees »

We had planned to drive from home to Tamworth and back to pick up our new golden retriever puppy but it just wasn't doable. We found the hotel on booking.com and selected their pet freidnly room just before 10pm. The room had wooden floors which is perfect for our new born pup and was nicely refurbished also, close to the hotels field made a good nights rest, not too far to take our new puppet for a wee wee

    5
« Lovely two day stay »

We found the staff to be just lovely. Eating a good meal in a country town can be hard to come and hit and miss, so we were very thankful the hotel had a menu to cater to all needs on site. Melt in your mouth moments... great speed on the wifi and signal allowed me to do some work while we were away for our friends wedding. Room was big, spacious and more than comfortable for our 2 night stay

    5
« Great free wifi and nice clean hotel room »

Booked over the phone, was reccomend a premier room. Our room was sensational, even a free to use coffee pod machine on the desk. Easy access to reception and restaurant, only 10 minutes taxi ride from Tamworth airport.

    5
    « Will stay again »

Experience - great, welcomed with a smile, courteous well dressed receptionist Location - perfect, in the town centre. Close to everything Room - excellent, clean! Refurbished on the lower level. Quiet. Amenities - nice, sparkling blue pool came in use on the hot days which we enjoyed very much as the sun set Room for improvement: maybe some more fish ?? on the food menu?

« Friends wedding weekend escape »

A large group of mates and I stayed at this place for a friends wedding. Considering our rowdy behaviour I thought the hotel did a great job in looking after us. I lost my key returning to my room at 4am. The manager came down and cut me a new one with no fuss. The complimentary continental breakfast went down well with us all in the morning. All in all an enjoyable weekend away.

    4
« Nice hotel, helpful staff, easy access to the main street. »

I thought I'd booked a room online, but I messed up, so on arrival and hoping for a 4 night stay, no booking was found and only a couple of rooms available for a few nights! The staff could upgrade us to a room including a lounge which was often booked by a well known country singer star when he stayed in Tamworth. The staff were very accommodating and helpful to two weary travellers, price was agreed, all was well. Our dinner was good-I had a tasty chilli crab spaghetti, my husband an excellent mushroom topped pizza, the base of which was spread with a delicious selection of cheeses, so different from the usual tomato base, very moorish. Recommend this, its making my mouth water just writing about it. Back to our room, spacious with a circular table/chairs, a lounge (settee) which we found a little too soft. We did think that the bathroom would benefit from a refurbishment. The bath was stained, chips along the top, some tiles were chipped too. However, the bath towels were fantastic, large, white, soft and so fluffy. We had one cooked breakfast every morning which was good and well presented, and the gluten free bread was very welcome. The staff were helpful and welcoming, but being a business hotel, we found it strange that you could not have a drink until 5.30pm. The hotel has ample parking, well situated for the short walk to the main street with a good selection of shops, restaurants, pub etc. A comfortable stay, helpful and friendly staff.

« Motorbike friendly hotel. Top quality »

Friends of mine suggested to stay at the Sanctuary Inn as they had a great experience... well so did we. We found our stay to be enjoyable and the staff and owner welcoming of our new Harley Davidson. They even booked us in to a room so we could be close to our bike and park our bike undercover. Will be staying again on our way back down from QLD. Thanks

    « Excellent value »

I travel to Tamworth often for business and sometimes leisure with my family. The Sanctuary Inn is my go to hotel. Great location in the CBD, across the road from Woolies and massive Dan Murphy. The staff are freidnly which is surprisingly important after spending all day on the road and the room service most importantly are very clean and comfortable...... and can't forget excellent value overall hotel with delicious food.

« Such an amazing place to stay »

I stayed at the Best Western Sanctuary Inn with some family and friends for a holiday. The place is amazing/beautiful and the staff are also, they went out of their way to make sure we were well accommodated and had everything we needed. The place is one of a kind, couldn't fault it. i will be staying here again and again and couldn't recommend a better place to stay in the area and i have stayed in a few around. Thanks everyone who made our stay one to remember

    « Highly recommended! »

Travelling from London isn't the greatest of experiences but staying at the Sanctuary Inn made the experience much nicer :) Friendly staff, great value rooms and a beautiful meal at the end of busy days. All the amenities were perfect and the location is amazing for getting around town easily. Would definetely stay again whether it was business or leisure.

« Clean and tidy in good location »

Nice tidy rooms, with a nice (and busy) restaurant, good pool for the kids, and a convenient location make this a good option to stay in Tamworth. Good size family rooms as well. Would recommend to others and would stay again.

    5
« Great value excellent customer service »

Stayed in rm 60. Huge room with a loft bedroom. Comfy bed. It was 40 degree day, and having a huge space to cool, air con struggled to keep the loft bedroom cool but there was a fan to keep me comfortable. Free WiFi worked well. Older building but we'll maintained and nicely renovated. Good range of bathroom amenity. No need to bring your own shampoo. There was even a nice bathrobe. I ordered room service for dinner - steak and tiramisu - it was Great! Outdoor swimming pool with a spa - clean and well maintained. Adjacent to the pool area there was a gorgeous bbq area. Free washing machine and dryer in the guest laundry - a bonus! Continental breakfast had a good variety and was included with the room tariff, with an option to pay extra to upgrade for cooked breakfast. Walking distance to supermarket and fast food. Complimentary bottled water from the reception. And the best part was amazing friendly and smiley staff. Great value for $129. Booked via wotif the day before. Very happy. I can highly recommend.

« My go to location in Tamworth »

the Sanctuary Inn is situated at the east end of town where the New England Highway comes into Tamworth. This trip was wet. It rained most of the time I was there. Tamworth is usually in drought so that threw me off a bit. I mentioned at the desk that here were cracks in the rooms walls and they told me that the drought had caused that. I thought it was the result of an earthquake!

    5
    « Great find - great hotel »

My relatives and myself came up to Tamworth in a bit of a spur of the moment trip, didn't have anything booked. We rocked up to the sanctuary hotel, driving in from Brissy way, the hotel is on your left, you can't miss it, very easy to find. The hotel had a family room available (room 14). We loved our room and our kids certainly did to with stuffed animals everywhere in the kids room, their own air con and own tv and my husband and I enjoyed having our own space to with our own amenities.

    5
    « Great for families »

Handy to everything at a very reasonable price. Loved the BBQ area by the pool, my family and spent many late evenings here whilst the sun set. Great wifi signal in all parts of hotel and air con worked well in the stinking heat. No complaints here, great for families, free cold bottled water on arrival and throughout stay from lovely young girl at reception - We will definitely stay here when next in Tamworth.

    2
    « What a dump »

This Motel is advertised as being of much higher quality than it actually is. Our room was a dump, with cracks in the walls, a basin (hot) tap that did not work at all, and house-keeping that was forgotten. The Receptionists were rude and abrupt (except for the younger blonde girl who was great). We had a nice balcony attached to the room, but it was locked and we weren't given the key until I asked for it. My friend and I had separate, poor experiences with rude Reception staff. The room looked like it was 80 years old and was located right on the highway, with constant sounds of semi-trailers driving past. Not bad for $325 a night !! The Reception area and restaurant actually looked really lovely, especially compared to our room! The room was a loft-style and the upstairs bedroom did not have air-conditioning, only a pedestal fan. Not very pleasant in 36 degree heat.

    5
    « Above and beyond »

This is my 3rd trip to Tamworth over the last few years and quite by chance this trip fell during Country music week. The staff went above and beyond to find me a room during their busiest time of the year. Ate at the restaurant most nights, the kind waiter from Ireland explained the new menu but i kept ordering the steak night after night. With the side dishes. Coffee was ok but overall a great dining experience once again. Special thanks to the two young ladies at reception both are a credit to the hotel / hospitality industry.

    « TCMF2018 - Caring, dedicated staff made for a great stay »

The staff team at BW Sanctuary Inn could not have been more helpful and understanding with regards to the needs of a guest with a disability who was travelling alone. He loved his stay and said that the hotel was definitely worth the 4* rating, 'maybe even more'. The team took extra time and care to ensure that he was looked after during his stay, particularly Georgie. Thank you BW Sanctuary Inn

    « TCMF18 - See you next year for the festival in 2019 - TCMF19 »

Delightful staff make this good hotel even greater than it is. My husband and I stayed here for 5 extrodinary nights of what was or first Country Music Festival and our first visit to Tamworth. It's just across the road from Woolworths. It has a delicious restaurant at the hotel called Riviera which we ate at multiple times during our stay. It was nice to come back to our "sanctuary" when you have been out in the boiling heat all day and night. Our room was so nice a quiet, we left our air conditioning running day and night even when we were not in the room and it was the perfect temperature arriving home each night. A big thank you to everyone at the sanctuary

    5
    « TCMF 2018 - Excellent - Fun - Great location »

We do a lot of traveling throughout the year with coaches and this was by far our groups best experience. Our fun over 50 group was most happy with the fabulous service of the lovely staff, easy coach parking, room allocations handled perfectly. Again, fabulous restaurant onsite, staff handled our fussy old needs fantastically. One of our group had their birthday while Country Music was on, the staff help put up balloons which was a very nice touch and great attention to detail.

    3
    « Room for improvement »

We booked a queen premier room, not a great big room but it done the trick. The Queen bed was just too soft from what we are used to, the Bathrooms pretty good size although gets a bit wet as the screen is too small and water sprays out. The Air Con was horrid sounded like a Mac truck running all night long along with the traffic noise outside each night made it hard to sleep, the little tiny bar fridge simply could never get things cold it struggled. Room service for breakfast could be improved the tiny size of the meals compared to the huge prices we paid made us buy our own muesli for the other days. Overall it's good little place to stay, although there are so many places in Tamworth I would look around for another next visit. Reception staff and housekeeping were really lovely and helpful.

    « Tamworth Country Music Festival 2018 »

Stayed at the Sanctuary Inn for the last 4 nights during the Tamworth Country Music Festival 2018, my husband and I had a blast! We booked a premier king room, a nice new little addition & welcome feature to the room from when we last stayed early last year is a free coffee pod machine, great for a pick me up after long nights of singing and dancing in the 40 degree heat here. Free bottled water too now available at receiption a nice touch. Great location only a few minutes walk to the centre of the festival on peel street.

    5
    « Great Experience! »

Lovely staff that made us feel very welcome! Great room, very relaxing and I must say the Internet was very fast, which is definitely a plus. The overall service and experience was exceptional, and I would highly recommend this place!

    « Would stay again »

When your traveling to a regional part of Australia, don't ever make the mistake of booking a boutique hotel like I have in the past - they are generally crap or non existent. This is a proper best western. The wifi speed I checked in my room and even by the pool was 23.5mbs per second - very quick, almost as quick as when I checked in unpacked in my nice premier room and ran down to the crystal clear salt pool. It's 40+ here today and it's a very welcome addition. Would stay again and reccomend to friends.

« Over priced and under delivered »

My wife, mother in law and our 2 year old son stayed here for the past two nights because it was supposed to be one of the best in Tamworth while they visited a sick relative in Tamworth hospital. We booked a room with breakfast and a cot for the 2 yo over the phone and they price matched a booking.com price of $144 a night At check in, my wife noticed that the invoice said "room only". When she questioned it and said we had booked a bed and breakfast room, the lady first replied it was room only but then, after protests, decided the 2 adults would be free but breakfast for the 2 yo would need to be paid for !! She said she didn't know how much that would be but said it would be between $5 and $10 ... what a joke ! The entire stay he ate 2 slices of toast and drank 2 small glasses of milk for two breakfasts and they were charged $15. Any half decent motel would never change for that or anything else for a 2 yo for that matter. When they got to the room, no cot. While this was provided upon request, they also received a bill for $12 at checkout. At no time was a charge ever mentioned and it was a cheap travel cot, not anything flash. As they drove up from Sydney, they could have taken ours for free if we knew they were going to charge. The "included breakfast" was only a continental but it was pretty good with an option to "upgrade" to a hot breakfast for even more money. There was no buffet option so paying for the hot breakfast was crazy given most cafes in town serve a hot breakfast for half the price they charge. Given the $144 a night price tag, you would expect a decent hot breakfast, especially in a country town where generous food used to be a hallmark. Despite my wife's obvious dissatisfaction, the staff didn't seem to care and just went about charging the credit card. Overall failed to meet even the basic expectations and we would never stay there again.

    « Highly recommend »

Family operated business, tastefully decorated spacious room, crispy white sheets, fluffy towels, friendly and welcoming staff. Supurb quality food, not to mention the swimming pool after a lengthy drive. My favourite Tamwoth stop.

    « Pleasant stay. »

We were upgraded to a Premier Queen room when we checked in. We had booked the standard room. The room was quite spacious with 2 chairs, which were very hard to sit on, and the Queen bed was comfortable. The bathroom was quite nice, except for the water going everywhere when taking a shower!! We loved the bath towels, they were so soft. We had 2 complaints. The air conditioning was very noisy and we couldn't get the clock to work. The lady in reception was very friendly. Overall a pleasant stay and we will stay again when in Tamworth.

« Very nice, great location »

Stayed here on our way home. Beautiful place. Bed was super comfy, room was a little dated but still nice. Highly recommend. Receptionist was wonderful and very pleasant to deal with. Thank you again.

    « As a diamond member of best western - I approve »

As a diamond member of best western I often travel and stay at many best western properties. I booked a premier room as it is located on the ground floor and was able to park almost immediately outside of my room. My room was refurbished with a very comfortable bed and a lot of cable channels. Being so close to Woolworths was very handy, we ducked over there for some snacks for the road the next day.

« Felt like coming home »

When I arrived at this hotel reception after booking on the phone, I felt like I was coming home. We were both made to feel so welcome and the staff explained the facilities and hotel so nicely. We had to leave very early in the morning so we did not have time for breakfast.

« Love it here. Great stop over »

Family friendly, fairly centrally located , clean rooms, comfy bed. Our room also had a kettle and toaster, which is a neat extra. Beds huge and comfy. Had dinner at restaurant food was to die for. the staff are very friendly and accommodating even when very busy. I would recommend Best Western Sanctuary Inn to anyone staying in Tamworth. The room we got, which was a loft was just beautiful.... Will not stay anywhere else from now on.... Love it here

« Our expectations were met »

As a Best Western rewards member I often travel to multiple Best western properties around the country and NZ for work and leisure. The Sanctuary Inn is equal with the Best of Best Westerns in AU/NZ. I stayed in room 61, a loft style family room. Newly renovated, highly quality fixtures and multiple LCD TVs, one for the kids and one for us so we could both relax at same time. Free high speed Wifi and close to hotel pool. Can't ask for a lot more.

    5
« Highly recommended to all travelers »

An upmarket experience. Your never sure what to expect in a country town. But the sanctuary delivered the goods in more ways than one. We received a complimentary upgrade to a long bedded room which was a nice way to start. Our room was meticulously clean and recently renovated / updated. Better than a lot of hotels I've stayed in the big smoke in Sydney. It was sooo hot when we checked in, our air con worked efficiently. We headed to the lobby bar for early drinks at 5.30pm. We were welcomed by a polite Irish barman who eagerly took our drinks and food order. Drink were Ivey cold, dinner was equally as good in the riviera restaurant. Both my wife and I both ate the home made cannelloni- it was superb.

We were made to feel very welcome by every staff member who looked after us. We were also nurtured by the delicious food available at the hotel, the rooms were fantastic very comfy bedding and high quality sheeting. Would highly recommend this place to anyone

    « Poor service. »

Was in Tamworth over xmas and was recommended the Best western. Experience was terrible, at the checkin the young blonde girl was very rude and not welcoming at all. Then she told me that the restaurants and bar will be closed for 3 days. As I went to my room I then read that there will be no room service or rooms wont be cleaned or towels changed or beds made for 3 days. As I had already paid it was to late to cancle or get my money back. I understand its xmas but guests are paying money for a service but was none. Nothing was on the websites either when booking the hotel. So for 3 nights I ate takeaway food. Rooms not cleaned nothing. Sama responce from other guests talking to them couldnt believe no food or drink or room service or rooms cleaned for 3 days and its rated 4 star hahaha kidding. Not to mention the cockroaches in the room. 1 positive the room is spacious

    « Positive experience »

I have never travelled through country New South Wales before or Tamworth for that matter so my partner and I were a bit apprehensive and unsure of what to expect. But I can easily say Tamworth and for that matter the Sanctuary Motor Inn is actually decent and so are the staff that work there. Our overall experience was a positive one. We received free breakfast with our included room plan and the hotel matched the same rate as a third party booking site when we booked direct

« Hot but nice enough »

Last minute booking on a drive south from Brisbane. Air con really struggled and the room didn't cool down till about 3am. Rooms are tired but pleasant enough for a quick overnight stay. Included breakfast was simple but great to be able to eat and get back on the road.

    « Great night's sleep »

Very covenient to shops and attractions. Room lovely and clean. Very comfortable bed and even a spa bath. The staff were very helpful especially when locked out of room. Enjoyed my stay in Tamworth. Certainly will be back again and recommend motel to friends.

« No noise no aircon »

Booked in at last minute whilst visiting family in hospital. Great room, comfy bed....but the aircon did not work. 32deg outside, 32 deg inside. Made for an uncomfortable night. Yes they did offer to change rooms at 9.30pm, but couldn't be bothered. Used a wine bottle to keep the window open ( only way). Would I stay again...no so many other options. Breakfast host had No personality. Didn't want to be there.

    « A Christmas day extravaganza »

For 19 years straight my family and friends have eaten at the Best Western Sanctuary Inn for our Christmas Day lunch. Of all these years, I can easily attest that today's meal was by far the stand out of the whole time we have been eating here. It was fantastic, our friends loved it just as my wife and I too. Perfectly cooked sliced veal, turkey breast with divine stuffing, roasted mushrooms, potato crumble, grilled prawns, beautifully glazed ham. I could go on, but you get the drill - great food and great accommodation. See you next year. Merry Christmas.

    « A real Sanctuary »

We had a lovely stay at this motor inn on a long drive back to Canberra. We started driving from the Gold Coast in the morning, so when we arrived at the hotel it truely was a "Sanctuary" or a small oasis in the absolute beaming heat. Temperatures were pushinbrg 40 degrees Celsius way in to the evening. My only comment would be that due to the rooms doors facing the elements and not in a closed off hallway - make sure you close your doors and not keep them open to get some fresh air you may get some unwelcome visitors crawl in to your room. Our room was spotlessly clean, but I guess you can't control nature. I guess they were just looking for somewhere cool like us to.

    5
« Good value for money »

My rate included breakfast and was definitely good value for money. The hotel is located within a few minutes walk to the CBD / centre of town and is directly across the road from Woolworths and Dan Murphys. The staff are very personal yet professional. Our room was spacious, big fluffy white towels were replaced daily on our 3 night stay. Great water pressure from shower. Our room was spotlessly clean. I would stay again.

« Spa in our bedroom, yes please! - Exec Spa Suite »

My partner and I recently stayed at the Best western sanctuary inn to celebrate our recent engagement. Family friends of mine reccomened to stay in this room as it was the nicest in Tamworth. I booked this guest room as a surprise and boy were we both so happy with the executive spa suite. We took a few photos which I will try upload, in the room there is a electric fire place, full spa bath, huge LCD Tv, and the walls to the bathroom are made of glass which was great fun :) the staff at the sanctuary looked after us very nicely. We didn't leave the room much to make the most of it. We did order room service and pigged out! Amazing. Hopefully stay again in future soon!

    « Positive experience »

My experience with the Sanctuary Inn was a positive one. It's of often you meet such down to earth people working behind the counter of a reception desk or the same again in regards to the waiters in the Riviera Restaurant at the hotel. Positives: food, room, bed, quiet, ice cold air con and massive fluffy towels. Cons: Would like a 24 hour munchies list that is able to be delivered to the room. Great atmosphere in the bar near reception to late at night...

« 4th stay in past few years »

This is about the 4th time I have stayed at this hotel and each time I have stayed in the past few years has been exemplary, I think all establishments should just try and offer what the team at this best western offer. I received a complimentary upgrade on my my most recent stay. I phone ahead and pre ordered my dinner too as I knew I would be arriving late, my meal was delivered fresh to my room upon arrving - Yum!

    « Excellent value »

Nothing is to hard for the staff at the best western inn. My work books me in to stay at this hotel / motel every trip to Tamworth. I'm upset if they are booked up and I have to stay elsewhere. compare the price of accommodation here compared to others in the town, the hotelrepresent excellent value

« Friendly staff await the visitor »

The Sanctuary Inn met our needs whilst visiting Tamworth. The room was a good size and well maintained. Whilst it was warm in the room when we arrived, the air-conditioning worked well, quickly cooling our room. The bedding was comfortable, though we should have brought our pillows as the ones supplied may have suited some but we found very hard. We found our room noisey due to traffic, but as the land of nod arrived it was only the odd noisey car or motorbike, that could be heard. Parking was a little tight outside though, especially when someone, opened a car door against our vehicle, just to remind you they were parked near you. Oh well these things do occur. Overall a good 4 star hotel at a good price, with continental breakfast included during our visit.

    « Clean and comfy »

After many hours driving on the road all day, my old man and I decided to stop off for the night. We stumbled upon the Sanctuary Inn and were most impressed with the establishment.. but most importantly it was CLEAN! A rare find in most country hotel / motels. The bed was comfy and the sheets crisp white, nicely oversized bath towels also. A good impression all round.

    5
    « Great choice »

I booked a room online directly through their website, the process was seamless as was the check in process. My room was quiet and everything that I needed, close to reception and their onsite restaurant Riviera which is what I requested due to an old knee problem. If your staying in summer too, the pool is fantastic located at the back of the property off the highway.

    5
« Second stay in the past 2 years still good »

Thuroughally enjoyed our stay at the Sanctuary. This was our second stay at this hotel, with the first being during country music festival in 2016. The hotel seems to have had some nice updates and improved restaurant. On this occasion we only book a standard room but to our surprise we were given a complimentary upgrade which was obviously very much appreciated. We will be back.

    « Work Christmas Party »

Great place, good atmosphere nice amenities, but our meals were cold. All the beef dishes were cold. Deserts were alternate drops, and hardly anyone could eat the lemon tarts as they were so sweet and the crust was rock hard.

    « Quiet , clean ... »

Motel was very easy to find and enter. Very quick and easy check in , and was pleasantly surprised with an upgrade to a king room. Room was spacious and well set out , with a great size bathroom . Nice and close to supermarket . Will definitely stay again when next in Tamworth

    « Would stay again. »

Very cute and comfy hotel in centre of town. Stayed with my father in a premier twin room with one queen bed and one single bed. The room was perfect for our needs. We stayed in room 17. The bathroom has been nicely renovated. The air con works well and room has 20 fox channels. We went for a dip in their pool which was very pleasant and quiet. Would stay again.

    « Business Trip »

Have stayed at this hotel before. The rooms are always very comfortable and clean. The shower runs hot and the towels are large. Staff are always helpful and well mannered. Always a good night sleep even though this hotel is on the main highway.

    5
    « Would stay again »

I found this hotel to be overall very pleasing. The staff were very pleasant, the check in process was very easy. My room was close enough to reception. The food in the restaurant was of a high standard and so was the service. Would stay again

« Expensive food, wrong breakfast order, given the wrong invoice »

The staff are extremely pleasant and friendly, but... the bedside lamps don't allow you to read by them (as with most hotels), the windows don't open, and I found the bed extremely uncomfortable. The room service meals from the hotel restaurant are outrageously expensive (around $40 a main WITHOUT vegetables). Quite literally, I could eat at any 2-hat Sydney gourmet restaurant for the price. They got my breakfast order wrong; and what was there was less than ordinary - at $25. I could have breakfast with a proper espresso coffee for under $20 had I been able to get into town. Very diappointing.

« The BEST best western »

A cut above the rest, this is the BEST Best Western. Clean rooms, hot showers and a comfy bed, Nice atmosphere in the best location in town, always prompt service. We booked direct over the phone as we were driving through Tamworth. Compared to a lot of other Motels I have ever stayed at, this has to be one of the best.

    « Best ever ! »

From the day i rang and booked the staff on the front desk could not do more for us. We travel on a motorbike and find some places less than understanding. Staff arranged for our bike to be under cover when I booked. Arrived to pleasant helpful and down to earth staff. Rooms were exelent Beds were comfortable and huge. Free laundromat to dry clothes. Had dinner in restaurant and was probably the best dining experience ever. Waitresses were polite helpful and food was to die for. The manager of this motel has some fantastic staff and they need to be congratulated. If you dont stay at this motel you are off your head ! Congratulations and well done pitty more places couldn't be like yours.

    « 2nd stay at this hotel »

Great staff . Who very very helpful from the young lady at reception to the staff in the restaurant. My 4 day stay was better than my first visit. I was upgraded to a premier room at no extra charge. Keep up the good work and look forward to seeing you next time in Tamworth

    « We picked a winner »

Reception staff friendly & knowledgeable, We recently stayed here for 2 nights and from start to finish the stay was great. Located just across the road from a brand new Woolworths and Dan Murphy and just a quick stroll to the centre of town, it's got to be the best located hotel in Tamworth. We had been towing our trailer along and there is plenty of parking on site for large vehicles. Our room was clean to the highest of standards. The bathroom was modern and well thought out. The restaurant is a definite winner to. Thank you from room 7.

« BEST PLACE IN TAMWORTH »

What a great place to stay everything you need breakfast lunch and dinner need not go anywhere. Room serviced everyday with great staff. The staff were so friendly specially the young guy that gave us so much local knowledge of what to see and where to go.THANYOU from tassie

    « Excellent hotel »

Excellent hotel in country Tamworth. Nice renovated room. I got a renovated premier king room. My room was on the ground floor and was able to park pretty much out the front of my room. The bed in my king room was of a high quality, not sagging like a lot of country stops. The bathroom was also nicely renovated and the bedroom had a flat screen tv with lots of cable channels to. Excellent onsite restaurant to. We ate one night in the restaurant and 1night room service. Both were as above average for typical hotel food. Can't thank the staff enough especially Brian in the restaurant and the lovely lady at reception.

« The best country hotel »

I stayed here last month on my way through for work. It was run like a Sydney hotel, the were amazing and was so impressed with the restaurant. Such a big difference from what else is on offer in town.

    « Lovely Accommodation »

Couldn't fault accommodation and good position close to everything in town. Only two complaints would be 1) why put toaster in room and not supply plates or cutlery. Surely just a couple of small plates and a couple of knives would be normal? 2) the small bar fridge was so full of drinks there was no room for our own things. My husband is diabetic so has to keep his needles cool and we had extra milk, etc.

    « Room, Service, Location 5/5 »

Great experience, quality accommodation, convenient location - can reccomend this hotel for all. Real milk in the mini bar fridge, none of this long life junk like in a lot of hotels. Lots of Foxtel channels. Very clean bathroom and excellent water pressure from my shower. Although property is located on New England Highway, we had a perfect restfull sleep with no interruption. The restaurant is full of character, with a nice theme and feel to it. Nice TV set up in the bar while the state of origin was on too. We paid $184 for a king bedded ground floor room. Thanks

« Thank you Georgie and Rob »

This best western property exceeded our expectations in every way possible, especially in the way that we were treated as guests staying in the hotel. I can't thank Georgie and Rob enough, they are a real asset to that hotel. Their restaurant is rated 2nd on trip advisor in the whole of Tamworth and it's easy to see why once you eat. My only criticism would be to have 24 hour room service! I know it may not be possible but it would be nice for guests getting the munchies!

    3
« CHEAP ROOM BUT GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR »

We stayed here on our way up the coast. Rooms were only around $130 a night but were in need of some refurbishment. The couch we were afraid to sit on as it creaked like it was about to fall apart. The bathrooms are original 70's and need updating. But overall we got what we paid for and the bed was comfortable. Also another pet hate was we had the smokers bin/ashtray outside our door so we were constantly smelling cigarette smoke. On the other hand the Riviera restaurant in the motel was amazing.

    « Comfortable overnight stay »

Reception staff were lovely and room (we were upgraded to a loft room) was comfortable especially for the price. We had our 2yo with us and she slept on the sofa bed downstairs, my only criticism of the room is the sofa bed - it was missing springs so it sagged in the middle and would have been impossible for anyone bigger or heavier than my two year old to to sleep on (even she complained of a sore back in the morning). Replacing the missing springs is a small piece of necessary maintenance that should be attended to. Otherwise a great stay and will stay again when we are in Tamworth

« Comfortable hotel with lovely staff »

Have stayed here before, this was my second stay. Hotel is conveniently located and the rooms are very comfortable. I would recommend for business trip. Has wifi but I had to use my own as it fell out a lot.

« Quality accommodation and restaurant »

This is my first trip up to Tamworth in all my life and my first review on trip advisor :) I wouldn't normally write a review but felt compelled to let everyone know about our recent experience. Let me start by saying Georgie and Rob are excellent hosts and immediately made us feel welcome. We booked in for dinner and then off to our room, which was a beautifully renovated loft style room. Lounge, TV, table, chairs and seating down stairs and another TV and airconditioning unit upstairs. The bathroom and room were immaculate. We only got to stay overnight as we were relocating a horse float up north, but can tell you this is not your typical motel. See you next week on the way back. Thank you for making us feel special. Regards Chelsea and David.

    « Great overnight stay »

We stayed here for just a night. I can highly recommend it. The staff at reception were so friendly and helpful, they even asked if the wifi was working ok and helped my son set it up on his phone. Had dinner at the restaurant Riviera, wow a mighty good meal, steak was great. Had a dessert and I'm not a big dessert eater but would very much recommend it. Rooms were great, beds got the tick of approval, staff terrific, restaurant top shelf. One of those places you keep note of to stay at next time in town.

    « Sanctuary during a busy weekend »

Recently stayed for 3 nights during a conference. Was totally pleased with my room and it's appointments, great bathroom and towels, etc. I didn't have the opportunity to have dinner in the restaurant but was very happy with my breakfast, including accessibility requests very well met. Staff were very accommodating.

    « Second Stay in 3 Years....still excellent! »

Very good quality rooms, decor, ambience, and new restaurant offered a very good meal. First room was just outside a "very noisy" A/C unit for the kitchens, so moved with no hassle....they knew about this noise! Good parking, quiet location, and very accessible to most areas going south or west. Nice pool.

« Thank You - see you again »

The S.I is located in a great location in the CBD of Tamworth. Perfect as you are walking distance from town. It really is a vibrant hotel with such good energy and the staff are really helpful and accommodating. I booked a premier room for a few nights during the week, as I was in Tamworth for work. It had all of the usual amenities of a hotel room with minibar and Foxtel. I will be back to this hotel for its luxury accommodation, the friendly staff and the of course for its onsite restaurant. The bar and grill is bright and airy and the breakfasts were great. Thank you to all the team there for making my stay enjoyable.

    « Relaxing stop over »

My fiancé and I stopped in at this Best western on our road trip back from Byron. Very tired after many hours driving, check in was fast and efficient, our room was immaculately clean and even smelt freshly cleaned mind you. We ordered room service and checked out very early in the morning round 6.30am then back to reality in Newcastle! It's on the New England Highway so as your coming in from QLD on your left.

    « Everything we needed »

My husband and 2 year old daughter had a lovely stay at Best Weatern Sanctuary Inn while visiting family over the weekend. Our room had everything we needed - the bed was so comfortable. Staff were very accommodating - especially with helping us cater for a toddlers needs. Delicious breakfast and dinner was great too. Excellent service and food. We will stay at the Sanctuary Inn on our next trip to Tamworth.

« Thank you for welcoming me back »

Its been 7 years since I stayed in Tamworth, I returned to the Sanctuary Inn and I was not disappointed. The room was spotlessly clean and the shower was amazing, the large bathroom towels are also a excellent addition to the room. The mini bar was stocked well and the onsite bar ad restaurant was fantastic, I enjoyed the pepper steak and beautiful dessert with strawberries and pastry. The complex has free parking onsite and now a Woolworths just across the road, for added convenance. Unfortunately it was to cold to take a dip in the pool, I look forward to returning soon. Excellent hospitality.

    « Good overnight stay »

We can recommend the Sanctuary Inn Best Western. I've got a chronic sore back and I booked this place because I read online they use high quality bedding. I was very happy with the bed. Good water pressure from shower to. and the sports channel so I could watch my car racing.

« Lovely hotel, great location, acceptional staff »

The Sanctuary is located in a great location in the CBD of Tamworth. It really is a lovely hotel with such nice ambiance when you enter reception along with aceptional staff to greet and serve you on your stay. We booked a premier king room for 2 nights on the ground floor. It had all of the usual amenities of a hotel room with minibar and Foxtel. I would reccomend this hotel for its accommodation and again for its onsite restaurant. The riviera bar and grill is delightful.

    5
« Very clean and comfortable place to stay »

I stayed at the Best Western Sanctuary Inn from the 9th Sep till the 10th Sep 2017, I stayed in room 19, with my partner and young child. It was a vary clean and comfortable room. We enjoyed breakfast each day and dinner on Friday night at the Riviera Bar and Gill located inside the complex, breakfast was delicious I had the smash everyday and my partner had the big breakfast. Dinner was also great and I requested my childs meal be changed from Spaghetti to Casarecce (this was done with no fuss). I would recommend this place to anyone staying in the area.

    5
    « A great experience »

My partner and I stayed in one of the Sanctuary Inn's premier king rooms and we were very happy with our room and overall experience whilst staying in the hotel and even the booking process was easy booking directly off their own website. Parking is not allocated but that was fine as we were still able to park pretty much right out the front of our room. Free high speed Wifi is available to all guests so the code was provided to us on check in so we could log in. We also made a dinner reservation at the same time and were thrilled with our meal. No pub grub here only high quality locally grown and produced food. Our room was spotlessly clean and the air con worked effeciently. AH Beard king beds. It's all good here. Would reccomend and would stay again if passing through Tamworth.

    3
    « Comfortable but dated »

Not sure if this hotel is undergoing renovations, but the rooms could do with it. They are roomy, clean and comfortable but very dated with some maintenance issues. Good size bathroom with good water pressure for the shower and nice comfortable beds. The rooms are quiet but feel very old and tired in contrast to the exterior which seems much better. They do have a generous Foxtel package with 20 channels as well, including 5 movie channels. I didn't eat at the restaurant as it seemed to be trying to be of a much higher standard than the hotel with a complicated, almost pretentious menu that was not in keeping with the basic standard of the motel. Overall, this hotel is at a good price point but if something else were available for a similar price, I would choose to stay elsewhere. I would also suggest that staying here you do not need or want a $60-$80 restaurant on site, something more basic would be more appropriate.

    5
    « A top class restaurant experience »

Drove pasted it enroute on our journeys and it caught our eye. We only went to the restaurant and the food was as good as any we've had in major city's. The staff were welcoming, ambiance beautiful & log fire working, food presentation and taste was outstanding. Huge portions. Very reasonable...a really lovely experience for us weary travellers

« Home away from home »

It's the little things that's the Best western sanctuary inn that make you feel special. From the moment you enter reception you are greeted with a smile and checked in quickly. As I am Best Western rewards member and regular guest of the hotel, there is most often a little chocolate waiting for me on my pillow with a thank you note attached with it from the General Manager which is very cute. I have stayed in both the standard rooms and the premier rooms, both have very comfortable beds, the key difference between the two is the furnishings. I always look forward to coming back to the sanctuary inn. I do a lot of driving by myself from Brisbane to Sydney regularly and the Sanctuaryvat Tamworth is my go to place as the half way point on my long journey in the car every time.

    5
    « Outstanding »

Outstanding and affordable room, paid $159 for a premier queen off the road (see photos attached) nice and spacious, clean and comfortable. Location: the motel is located within a 1 minute drive to the centre of town and is also across the road from Woolworths and Dan Murphy's. Accommodation: the room is beautiful and not your typical motel style. Quality bedding and heavy furniture. Restaurant: the food was beautiful for both in room service we had one morning for breakfast and even better at night sampling food from the Med! Service: the staff here go above and beyond to make sure guests are pleased. All in all we are very happy vegemites and look forward to coming back.

« Bring your pet! It's got amazing pet friendly rooms »

Recently brought my best furry little friend on my travels through Tamworth. I was concerned I would not find anywhere as I was driving through and decided to stay the night in Tamworth as I was exhausted. The Sanctuary has a few pet rooms and they are beautifully made up. Me and my pooch where very content. Nice, clean and quiet, we were looked after like royalty.

    5
    « Great accommodation & conference venue »

Great conference venue with a range of different rooms for our meeting. The staff are true professionals. The food was actually devine. It might be a best western, but I can tell you from experience, this is not your typical motel. I stayed in ground floor room which was a premier king, nice and quiet, great bed and fox channels. I booked and paid directly on their website for $169. Everything was great.

« Felt right at home at the sanctuary inn »

Nice sized rooms, quiet and well insulated. Air con worked very well considering it was minus 2 last night. Georgie on reception loves her clients and her job. Nothing was to hard for her to handle. Rob the manager is a gentlemen and made my wife and I feel right at home. Would recommend this motel to both business travelers and leisurely travelers. We had the executive spa suite as it was the last room in the hotel, it's well worth the money and probably the best room in town.

    5
« Excellent pet friendly room and motel »

My family always stay at the best western when they come to town to visit me. The hotel truly is a sanctuary and is the best value in town in my opinion. Georgie on reception is just so lovely always willing to please her customers! My parents often travel with their 10 year old Maltese terrier so they make sure to book a pet friendly room directly with the hotel. The room is sparkling clean with wooden floor and nicely refurbished.

    4
    « Pretty Good »

Stayed here with my wife and 2 kids for 1 night. The room was a good size for a couple kids over being in the car. Good shower and get helpful staff. Room was reasonably priced. Closer took woolies (across road) and short drive/walk to main Street. Would recommend the motel to all.

    5
« King room on ground floor - very good. »

My partner and I booked a king room based off reviews on trip advisor and we can easily say we were more than pleased with our stay, room and service provided. The staff were very friendly and willing to go the extra mile to make sure we were looked after. Real milk in the mini bar always makes us smile and heaps of fox channels to unwind after a long drive.

    4
    « Overnight Business Stay »

Room was what you would expect for a Motor Inn expect maybe a bit larger than usual. I checked in just before 10pm and staff were super friendly. Both checkin and checkout were super easy. Breakfast was pretty good also, although menu is kind of limited.

    5
« Clean quiet and comfortable »

Clean, quiet, comfortable nicely renovated premier room. In my opinion the best value in the whole of Tamworth. Sitting around the lobby fire over the last few nights has been divine. We couldn't get a cab over the weekend and the manager was even nice enough to give us a lift in to the centre of town, talk about service! We will be back

« Everything you coud want at your fingertips »

Outstanding facilities including swimming pool, free internet, well appointed room, a lounge heated by a wood fire to drive out winter cold and an excellent restaurant. Add to this impressive list the fantastic , helpful staff and you have the recipe for a most enjoyable stay.

« Corporate travelers take notice - this is the place to stay! »

Corporates takes notice - this is the place to stay on your next business trip. My wife and I were very pleased from check in to check out staying in a ground floor premier room which was very comfortable and plenty of Foxtel channels! Nice atmosphere in the restaurant too. Even fresh bottled milk in the mink bar to, none of that long life junk. It's the little things that make this motel special.

    « Pretty Shabby »

I probably made a mistake by booking this motel "directly" over the phone. When I called I asked about the $124 rooms offered by most of the on-line booking sites. I was politely informed that none were available. I was offered a $149 alternative. Thinking that this would be a slightly superior room - and not wanting to quibble over a few dollars I made the reservation. How wrong I was. The dearer room was in an old part of the motel and was really peculiar. I guess the room could be described as a "spa room" because there was a bed and a spa...in the same room. (See photo). This meant that the bathroom was separated from the bedroom by a flimsy nylon curtain, Really weird. There was, thankfully, a seperate toilet, with a door! The spa itself did not look particularly clean - again there's a photo. The old Goldstar fridge had seen better days and was in need of "deodorisation". Overall, the room was tired and shabby and certainly not worth the money. I'll be looking elsewhere when next I visit Tamworth.

This motel is a good position in town.My room was tired and smelt very strong of cleaning chemicals. Staff are very friendly here . only complaint was i was awoken early by the cleaning staff moving there trolley around.

« Great family accomodation & divine restaurant »

Excellent accomodation in country Tamworth. A cut above the rest in town. Best value for money. The restaurant is divine and you can tell the staff really care about guest satisfaction too. I booked a premier family room for a weekend away and was pleasantly suprised how well equiped the room was. Both bedrooms had there own seperate air conditioning system as well as there own large LCD screen with heaps of cable channels which the kids loved. Great place to stay in Tamaz. My kids also loved the kids menu in the restaurant or room service that we got and they are very fussy!

    « Comfortable stay »

I was in tamworth this month for a business trip. We stayed at the Best Western. The rooms were clean and nice with a comfortable best. Hotel was slightly dated. Customer service was great during check in and check out.

« Overnight stay in executive spa suite was perfection! »

Could not fault our stay at the sanctuary inn in the executive spa suite. We found out about this room via a Facebook add. It was our 2 year anniversary so we decided to spoil our selves while visiting Tamworth. The room is beautifully decorated with a nice padded bed head and the bath is close by to the bed. Massive tv above a Eletric fire place. The staff were lovely and we would definitely recommend this room for a special occasion.

    « Only the best »

I was not sure what to expect after all it is just Tamworth motel right? Wrong, the place really is a Sanctuary. Sitting around the fire in the lobby over the last few nights with business colleagues, drinking fine wine and cold beers - perfection. The rooms is close by to the lobby and restaurant. Enormous king bed, heaps of foxtel channels. No complaints. I will be back.

« Highly Recommend - this was actually a sanctuary »

I've stayed in many hotels and I've had a bit of experience in this industry; others should take a leaf out of this Hotel's book. From my panicked call from the airport when I thought I was running late to getting internet access after hours; every staff member was keen to help me at every interaction, especially Jay, and nothing was too much trouble. I was here for a business event. The facilities were setup and the team checked in with us consistently to ensure we had what we needed. The food spread was inspiring and all made onsite; bocconcini, tomato and a basil leaf on a toothpick. So simple but fresh and delicious, not another deep fried spread! My room feels much more comfortable and equipped than the price tag suggests. Bed is comfy. The bar area was also warm and comfy (cute open fire). A great team of people. A great place to stay on business. So easy to give these guys a 5. Thanks for looking after me.

« Best place to stay in tamworth »

Overall great stay and excellent value for money. Greeted with a smile and checked in to our premier king room. Spacious, modern. CLEAN! and quiet. Would definitely recommend this accommodation and if ever traveling through again wether for business or pleasure would easily reccomend this property.

« Super accomodation: clean, quiet with a touch of luxury »

Beautiful rooms, well maintained. My impression was the room was clean, quiet and luxurious. The staff were polite and helpful, the restaurant had lovely food on offer and I would be pleased to stay here again. The location is brilliant, close to everything you need.

    « Business trip »

Regularly stay at the sanctury inn for business when in Tamworth. Is always clean and serves its purpose well. Close to supermarket, take away food joints and short walk to town centre. Only draw back is the noise from the road as the trucks gear down to the round about out the front. Other than that its a great stay.

    5
    « Always Great Stay »

it is always nice to stay at this hotel rooms are of a good size and the décor is quite nice the rooms have been kept well. The restaurant is very good and the service to match. located just out of the main CBD of Tamworth easy access to all parts of the city.

    « Perfect birthday weekend »

Drove down from Gunnedah to spend the weekend with family and friends. Pre booked the premier king room and my partner and I were very pleased with the sanctuary inn. Our room was spotlessly clean, foxtel and a clean and extremely comfy king bed! We ate at the onsite restaurant on one of the nights. The restaurant was very busy but the staff still managed to give us good service and the chef served out delicious food. Would definitely recommend this motel and would stay again when coming to the big smoke again. It's pretty much in the centre of town too

« king room is the way to go »

the king room is great. the bed is so comfortable you just don't want to get out of it. the bathroom while a little small is more than big enough to get things done. there is no basic meals available from the restaurant it is fine dinning, which after travelling all I wanted was something basic

    « A Pleasant Stay »

We stayed for two nights and found the accomodation to be comfortable, clean and well appointed. The restaurant was an excellent choice. The service was professional and friendly and the food was excellent and the standard of a high quality restaurant.Breakfast in the restaurant is also well worth it with a great self serve variety with the Continental Breakfast choice. The motel is well situated and close to Woolworths and Dan Murphys and only a short walk to the CBD. The motel is situated on the main road from Armidale and at the major intersection joining with traffic from Sydney. In saying that though, the traffic noise is not really a problem. We will certainly stay there again when next we visit Tamworth.

    5
« Such a pleasure to stay here »

We were made to feel welcome and we were valued customers from the moment we entered. We chose to stay at the Sanctuary Inn based on recent positive trip advisor reviews. I could easily recommend this motel to others. The rooms, food, service and staff were all outstanding. Service with a smile!

    « Impressive motel »

I travel to Tamworth for business from Sydney and compared to where i normally stay, this place was amazing. I stayed in the premier room and it was fantastic. The bed was super comfortable and unlike most other motels i stay in the bathroom was spotless. The restaurant on site was quick and surprisingly the food was like big city dining. Check in and check out was a breeze and Georgie I think her name was, was vibrant and very friendly. Thanks for a great stay, see you in a few weeks.

    5
« Very impressive country resort »

I really enjoyed my stay, the staff were very helpful in providing directions and showing which were the best places to eat. On site restaurant is also good. Very clean and friendly, nice and close to everything.

« Best value motel in town »

I travel to Tamworth often for business at least once per month. Compared to what other dumps in town are charging, the sanctuary is a blessing at the rates they charge for both their standard and premier rooms. I have stayed in both room types as Premier has not always been available if im booking last minute and I can honestly has the BW Sanctuary Inn can't begin to be compared to other motels in the town. The restaurants food is more expensive than other motels and pub grub in town but you get what you pay for!! Do yourself a favour and try the food! I lost my key returning to my room at 1am on one of the nights and Robert and Georgie the onsite managers live on site and were able to cut me a new key no hassles at all! I felt sorry for them because I woke them up. Anyway thank you again. My work pays for my accomodation ion and often get to stay in their celebration spa suite, check out the pics below and ask them for a deal on the price of the room as there is a bit of movement.

« Will Definitely Come Back »

My husband and I travel extensively around the world but we were still pleasantly surprised by the Sanctuary inn. From the moment we were checked in to the moment we checked out, we felt at home in the welcoming environment. The rooms are well appointed with LCD tv's, very comfortable beds, block out blinds and a nice clean modern bathroom. The hotel staff are willing to go the extra mile and help out where ever they can. I am Italian and I can tell you that the Italian food in their restaurant is just like Nonna is cooking in the kitchen. Would highly recommend this motel if traveling through Tamworth.

« Great Place to stay »

A regional gem that ticks all the boxes! My partner and I stayed here for the weekend recently and were really impressed. Our room was very nice and the bed was super comfy. The staff went out of their way to look after us and we had a fantastic meal in the motel's Riviera restaurant - a real surprise for a couple of Sydney-siders! The pool was great too as it was a very hot weekend. We'd definitely stay at Sanctuary Inn again.

« Lovely Place to stay »

The family and I stopped in Tamworth to break up our trip and were really impressed by this Great Hotel . The rooms were spotless and the friendly staff could not do enough for us . We will definetly stop here again and the restaurant is Amazing !!

« Excellent Staff Stunning motels Meals could be better »

We always stay at the Sanctuary Inn Tamworth. The staff who greet you are excellent. So were those preparing the meals. Although the child's meal was very ordinary to say the least. There were only two chips on the plate. The room was also lacking some of the facilities in the bathroom. Other than that, it was very enjoyable.

« Long haul road trip stop over. »

We were lucky to secure 2 of the remaining rooms over the Easter break. Rooms were of ample size , mine was noisy due to being at the front next to the highway but this is too be expected. Beds very very comfortable. Amenities in the room were fine. The dining room looked very inviting , however this was closed for the night we were there. Breakfast was served to your room. The breakfast menu was quite modern. My word of advice here is do not cover hot food with glad wrap. Please use the metal lids like other places do. My French toast was getting steamed under the plastic wrap. Not good. Everything else was fine . Front of house service friendly and welcoming.

    5
« Lovely, clean and friendly staff »

We will definitely be staying here again, from the moment we entered reception the staff were so caring, kind amen hospitable after such a long drive of 5 hours but it felt like a lot longer due to numerous road works on the New England high way. Our friends reccomnded this motel to us and you can see why, the room we had was freshly cleaned with a king bed and crisp white sheets. The bed was so good that we ended up ordering one through the manager at reception with his contact at AH Beard King Koil! We were fourtunate enough to give their menu a run in their beautifully decorated restaurant. The food matches the hotel - excellent.

« Family friendly fun trip »

The Sanctuary Inn truely is a sanctuary in Tamworth. My family and I did not have accomodation booked and we came in off the road after a long day of driving with 3 noisy children in the car! We checked in to a renovated premier family room which had plenty of space for all of us and was nicely decorated and styled. 2 full bedrooms and 2 tv's which was perfect for us. We got the motel to match the booking.com price of $269 for the night. The room and facilities of the motel was well worth it with an equally as good restaurant on site.

    5
    « Good overnighter »

Good overnight stay on my own for business. Quick check in with a smile from the girls at reception. My room was located on the ground floor so was easy to unpack my car. Room was clean and air con worked really well. I read some other reports on trip advisor about noise but personally I didn't hear much at all and slept well all night!

    « Best in town! »

Great place to stay, clean and well appointed rooms! The staff were friendly and always extremely pleasant and always happy to help out. The hotel had a nice bar and food at the restaurant. It was one of the best meals I've had in Tamworth. Will definitely return when I'm back!

« Highly Recommended Hotel with amazing service! »

An amazing experience for me and my partner! Had such a lovely time put down to the great facilities and staff who made this possible. We will be back again for sure, the food was really good. The honeymoon suites are great!

« 5 star stay at the sanctuary inn »

The facilities and the atmosphere at the best western sanctuary inn were excellent. The wifi is complimentary, their meeting areas were perfect for our function. Reception opened early at 6.00AM to allow early check out the next morning which worked out perfectly. Our rate included complimentary continental breakfast which included a good variety of freshly made foods. Would highly recommend this motel close to centre of town.

    « What a dump »

Made a booking through booking.com. The room we got issued was disgusting. Not only smelly, stale, the decor was from the 1970's. The complete opposite as to what is shown on the website. The manager was unapologetic and made no attempt to review the situation. The family room was more like a hostel fitout. Do not believe the photos on the website it's a scam.

    3
    « WHERE DO I START »

This should be a very good review - probably in the excellent rating. A good room with comfortable king bed, good bathroom, very friendly reception staff, an excellent restaurant (evening dinner and breakfast), plenty of easy parking. So why a 3 average rating ? In a word - road noise. Your main reason for staying in a motel is to sleep after a long day's drive. Ok, the room quality, service and food is also important, but pales into insignifcance if you can't get a good nights sleep. We had room 2, at the front of the motel and close to the New England Highway. It's a king bed room at $169 a night (not a budget price for a motel in Regional NSW). The motel is located on a major roundabout on the highway and large transport trucks are moving through day and night. Their breaking and then accelerating through the gears can be heard all night and in a few cases you feel they are the room with you. I noticed in other reviews (read after our stay) Motel Management respond to reviews that the trucks are finished their runs by 10/10.30 pm through Tamworth. Numbers may be reduced, but they rumble through all night. I was awoken at least every half hour during the night. Such a shame as the motel is excellent in all other aspects. As I said, a good nights sleep is the reason for a motel stay. Be aware of this issue !!!!

    3
« Traffic noise is significant »

We had a premium room, which, while a bit small, is adequately equipped. The restaurant provided a good meal (reviewed separately). The Inn is located on a roundabout, frequented by heavy vehicles 24 hours a day, so the room you occupy may affect the quality of sleep you experience. Late night road work continued until 11 pm - that's not the fault of the Inn, of course, and it won't go on for ever, but for the immediate future it could be a problem for those who sleep lightly and would prefer to sleep rather than watch TV. We were in Room 37, and the noise from outside the premises came close to being unpleasantly obtrusive.

    « disappointed »

we stayed one night at this motel it was very noisy rooms were not up to Best Western Standards very disappointed the only good thing going for it was the nice girls at the desk the motel really needs to have some upgrades done to bring it up to other Best Westerns we have stayed in

    « Basic hotel room »

There was nothing really wrong with this place except it is very tired. There is a Chinese restaurant in the lobby but I don't try it as I arrived too late. The room I had was a bit noisy due to the refrigeration fan.

« Disappointing stay in noisy room »

We recently spent a night in this motor inn which left a lot to be desired. The room was depressing with decor from the 1970s or so it seemed. The bed was rock hard and the pillows unyielding. The noise from the street made sleep difficult. It seemed every vehicle that went past was coming through the wall, so close and loud did it feel. The outside lights turned off after midnight and came on at 4 am, illuminating our room as well as others in the same wing. The fridge rumbled loudly throughout the night and the bathroom door jammed when shut. When I booked the room, I was quoted $149 plus, however the Internet rate with online booking agents was $129, which the receptionist matched. However the kind attention of one of the staff members, Belinda, at the motel's Lobby restaurant was much appreciated. She was attentive and went well beyond the call of duty. Belinda was excellent.

    « Not close to 4star »

I have just read the reviews and I'm sure management will come back at me with a comment or blame game. I guess I got one of the unrenovated rooms which did not state when I booked. You shouldn't go wrong with a 4 star motel....... The motel shouldn't be part 4star should it? Room 44 is old smelly, so out dated, noisy with trucks and disgusting, mould in fridge, very large cracks in walls, shower curtain, stains all over carpet worn furniture, patched up walls, noisy fridge, power points no existent. Pillows crap yet I couldn't find the pillow menu either.(as stated in another review response) I ordered room service don't waste your money on the famous scotch it's full of fat no butter mushroom sauce, the pot wedges (2) had a funky taste and the beans were gross. ( defiantly not your pub grub as stated in another review) way over priced for the Daily special and wasn't advise of the price dinner was $66 the steak and calamari no drinks/breads or desert and delivered covered in foil. I thought the staff would've asked me why I didn't eat my meal but no questions were asked, I know if I had left a full plate the chef should've been advised. I also had the calamari asked if it was crumbed or batter was told no was served fresh but was covered in thick flour, very average. Not sure of the mini bar everything is coded with stickers if you don't trust your patrons why have a mini bar? Maybe when you advertise your pricing you should state if you get a Reno or unreno room, I see you don't have any images of the unreno rooms this would help the client then decide if they want to stay in comfort or filth! I'll guess I will just have to wait on my responses when I tell reception in the morning as I can't sleep. Only good thing was the wifi. So I thought I would post this after I checked out and to see what type of response I received. I was told when booking on line it's very limited in the description my response was when its a 4 star motel you shouldn't get 1 star room and they don't show you the run down rooms, she said I could up grade for a cost, not sure how you up grade from a supposed to be 4 star room to a 4 star room. I then discussed my meal she said she has never heard a complaint and I said my meal was my hardly touched why wasn't I contacted or the chef notified and said it was way over priced I expect a top grade meal and they need to advise people of the cost instead of putting on menu ask about our daily specials I would hate to see what it would cost not being on special. The reception staff did apologise as she charged my account full fee. I've stayed in hostels that have better service. Very disappointing

    « King bed was a bonus »

A very large motel which was very busy. It had obviously been an older style motel which has been renovated. Our room was very small - could have done without the sofa which would have given us some more room. The King bed was unexpected and was very comfortable. The ensuite was adequate.

    3
« Please bring your own pillow »

Upon check in I found the reception staff not that friendly,I checked out the restaurant pricing when I was at check in and I was shocked - there was a steak main meal for $46 - I thought I was at the Rockpool in Sydney. I had room 28 which was clean and quite large, plenty of power points,a good tv and a table for my laptop so I was happy.Shower had good amount of power but bathroom lights very faint. Certain foxtel chanels kep on falling out - not sure if it was room location but a little annoying.Hotel is quite central and you can walk in to town restaurants in five or so minutes. My big gripe was the bed which was a a bed of nails -no bounce or give and the pillows - all sucked and I woke with a sore neck. I have stayed here before and would stay again - but maybe I would ask about another room and check the bed and pillows first. $155 for the night was ok

    4
    « OK as a conference venue »

I recently participated in a conference held at the Sanctuary Inn and whilst right on the upper limit for the venue they did a good job to accommodate us and everything worked well. The food at the conference mixer and Dinner was also good for an event such as ours and the lunches were interesting and more than adequate. I stayed elsewhere so can't comment on the accommodation but overall it was a appositive experience.

    4
    « Friendly staff »

My room was a showing its age, but was clean and tidy. It had a spa in the corner with a shower above in the main room and a seperate toilet and basin. I would stay there again if fiven the opportunity. The food in restaurant was beautiful but a little over priced ($44 for steak).

    « A weekend Trip to Tamworth »

We traveled over to Tamworth for business. The Staff we super friendly and helpful. We were running late and a staff member stayed back and extra few minutes as we got there to check in just after 10pm. The room was very clean and spacious. The spa being in front of the bed and sort of part of the bedroom was very nice. THe bed was really comfortable and the pillows were just the right feel. Overall a great place to stay when stopping for a few nights in Tamworth. The motel is just on the out skirts of the CBD.

    « service was a let down »

they waited until I left to then call me up and ask if they could charge me extra for using the second room. I had used the other room and they said because of cleaning such as making the bed I had used they charge me 180 extra for using the room I was shocked in how they went about it wish they had of said something when I first left but they chose to wait until I left an then threaten me with police if I didn't pay. I'm unsure of why police was to be mentioned... but I ended up going back and paying the 180 and all was okay but still unsure to why police was mentioned.

« A great hotel with excellent pet friendly room »

This was an excellent room, we stayed with our dog on the journey from Newcastle to Brisbane and it was very nice, there was even a small piece of land to walk the dog around. We were near the front of the building but didn't have any disruption from road noise. The room was clean and functional and the decor was nice and fairly modern, although the heating/ac took a while to heat the room. The pool also looked really nice, we would definitely recommend and stay again in the future if we are ever passing through.

    2
    « Old and musty »

My goodness. It's been too long since I was last here that I actually thought it would be a good idea to try staying at this place. I somehow managed to end up in one of their I renovated rooms. What a mistake. Furniture and fittings are still from the 70s or 80s?? I think the renovated rooms will probably be good to stay in but not the older rooms. I'm going back to my old favourite next time, CH on Peel.

    5
« Excellent quality service and value for money »

Excellent service, clean and quiet rooms, excellent quality. Very impressed with front staff, had wedding on and yet took time to make service personal. Even suggested extra compliments for room service. Food was delicious have had room service and restaurant and no difference in the quality. Have travelled here both as couple and single highly recommended. Would stay here again. Thank you for wonderful experience :)

« Room was tiny for the amount we paid. »

Hotel is in an ideal location for travellers, however, this makes for a fair bit of noise from trucks passing through - still, have stayed in places with a lot more noise. Lady on reception was friendly enough, but not overly. We stayed only one night - for $169 I don't know whether we would stay for more than that. The room has a King bed and a king single bed - which were quite comfortable - but you couldn't fit anything else in the room really. The bathroom wasn't too bad and the room was clean - we were just amazed at how small it was! The motel is close to eating places and shopping, which is good, and free Wi-Fi is available, which is always good. Overall - it was comfortable, but a bit pricey.

    5
« Staff service exceeds expectations »

While visiting here on business I needed help with an issue and the staff couldn't have been more kind. They went beyond any expectations I had and provided me with assistance in such a courteous and friendly manner! We've stayed here before and it's ALWAYS a pleasure and our preferred accommodation in this geographic area. Rooms are always spotless, food is extraordinarily good and every staff member we've encountered has been warm and accommodating. Definitely the destination of choice in the Tamworth region. The stack of awards for motel 'Excellence' I saw on the reception desk didn't surprise me in the least :-)

    4
« This place fits the bill »

This fine hotel is situated strategically on the New England Highway, where it bypasses the center of Tamworth. It is within walking distance of the city hub. The service at both reception and in the restaurant is excellent, the rooms of high quality and the food of a high standard. The wine list is modest but with quality choices. I recommend the Strawberry kiss cocktail (But that is another story).

    5
« Excellent restaurant and clean ample rooms »

We have travelled from Adelaide and outside of Adelaide this was the best restaurant. Belinda the restaurant manager was excellent, helpful and very warming. The motel is good and very clean and it is worth using the restaurant but sit by the open fire place before eating

    3
« Good room, bad location »

The hotel is a large and well maintained complex. However the location on Marius St, which we did not realise is the highway, is poor as on corner where trucks slow to turn on way to Sydney. Though not on street could still hear trucks using air brakes. Room is standard size but had a very comfortable bed. Water pressure was poor which does not help on a cool July morning. Easy walking distance to all attractions in town . Check in was smooth and easy

    4
    « country getaway »

Spent a night here for a birthday surprise - a loft apartment was roomy and comfortable. Pre-dinner drinks at the bar in front of an open fire set the scene for a very well prepared and presented dinner. Without doubt the best meal I've eaten in Tamworth

  • 4
    « Comfy quiet »

Arrived and was met by attentive check-in staff although after having been on the road since 3 am our tolerance of small talk was somewhat limited and a speedier service and direction to amenities would have been welcomed. Room was sizable with private spa large enough TV and usual room facilities. Was clean and well presented. Room staff were pleasant and happy in their roles. Check out was fast and efficient. Despite its location we found the motel to be quiet and comfortable for our extended stay.

    2
    « Very unpleaseant/insafe experience »

I made the mistake of trusting the management of the motel when they told me the room I had booked was a spa room. It wasn't and they refused to acknowledge mistake. Instead they blamed me. Also in the middle of the night 3 very drunk men next to my room made alot of noise . I asked them to be quiet and they retaliated with bashing my door and screaming threats and obscenities. The management did respond when I rang them but the abuse continued in the morning with more threats of violence and door bashing. Horrible experience. No sleep. No real apology or offer redress from the motel. Responded with 'well you should have called the police'. The luxury room I paid for had dark decor and was depressing and gloomy. Very uncomfortable sofa in lounge area which was a sofa bed. Great menu from cafe but very expensive. Steak - $42.00. Bed good. Overall poor value and customer service.

    4
    « What a difference a day makes »

Yeah. My friend was quoted a wrong amount for a Sunday. The price was probably for a Saturday. I'm not sure how they thought two elderly people would cope with the spa. (How 1990's) But yeah. The room was capacious and clean. It has all the heart could desire. The real thrill came with breakfast where the continental breakfast ($15.00) was brilliant. The staff were so kind and happy. (Yes. These things matter!) The kidney-shaped swimming pool, featured two ducks. They seemed happy. God knows what they were eating. The place is probably outside my price-range.

    4
« Frequent travellers on the New England Hwy »

We stayed in the loft room for one night. It was absolutely the best, most comfortable bed we have ever slept in. So impressed that we will probably buy the same mattress for at home. No traffic noise, spacious, just great.

    5
« outstanding accomodation and restuarant »

The accommodation in the motel was excellent, lovely rooms , comfy beds and well priced . The staff were excellent from the reception ladies to the restaurant wait staff they could not have been more friendly and helpful The restaurant has had a change of menu , I cannot fault the food from the entrée to the desert it was excellent , well priced and most importantly plenty of it

    4
    « Visiting friends »

Staff were pleasant and cheerful. Our room was fairly average and could do with an update. The carpet was wrinkled in places. The bed was comfortable, restaurant was very good with nice staff. Downside was the price of drinks. $27.50 for an Irish coffee and $11 for Kahlua and milk I thought were a bit over the top.I thought tariff of $147 a day about $27 too high.

    3
« Ok for work stay »

Great location and easy access to the city centre. Due to being located on the highway there is some road noise inside the room. The pillows were extremely hard and uncomfortable. The bed was lovely and soft and comfortable. The shower changed temperature constantly during use. There was a good choice of breakfast items, a little overpriced.

    5
« Comfortable accommodation and good breakfast. »

Stayed on a business trip. Friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable and clean accommodation. Within walking distance to the CBD (500 metres). Reasonably priced for business rates. Had breakfast the next morning - my god it was unreal. It was freshly cooked - no all you can eat smorgasboard. You might have had to wait 20 minutes but it was well worth it. Had the big breakfast and it was good. Staying again even if it is just for the breakfast.

    5
    « Enjoyable stay »

The room I had was quite large, though clearly this motel has been around for a while and this is evident in the decor. Though everything was functional and clean. The bed was soft, yet very comfortable and an iron and ironing board were provided. Mini bar prices were expensive, as were items on the dinner menu ($35) - though given the number of awards the restaurant had received, this is probably not surprising (though I did not have dinner during my stay). Staff were friendly and some excellent conference facilities were provided - the workshop lunch, consisting of rolls and sandwiches were excellent!

    4
    « Comfortable and Friendly »

After a 6 hour drive I was ready for a break. The hotel staff were welcoming and helpful. The room was comfortable and most importantly a great shower with lots of hot water. The food from the restaurant was also good. Will stay again for sure

    « excellent accommodation »

« Perfect for business or pleasure »

Stayed for a short business trip and couldn't fault it. Nice rooms, very clean and modern. The onsite restaurant is fairly expensive but delicious! With a big Woolies just minutes away and the town centre a short drive it really was perfect.

    « Pretty good »

While I don't get the perfect reviews, I also don't get the ones slamming this property. It's an older property, but those important things - really clean, great bed, good bathroom (excellent shower), and pretty quiet were all there. If you expect a 5 star property go elsewhere. If you want good honest value for money, give it a crack.

    « Hard to recommend. »

"A quite room away from Hwy" resulted in a std room just 2 rooms from the hwy. and at a quick glance a pretty old and cheap room it would have been. Returning to reception to remind them of our request resulted in the offer of an upgrade for a mere 25% tariff increase - why they did not respond with that warning by email one week earlier is beyond me. Having paid the surcharge (rather than move on) it reqd another trip to reception to get wifi access. Not a big deal but why not offer it automatically ? The wifi worked if you walked to the front door to get good reception. Maybe performance was just going thru a patchy stage, but most other motels offer wifi that works ALL the time automatically without asking. The best technique I have seen is where the motel has the wifi uid and password on a plaque in the room - unfortunately this motel has yet to work that one out. The 'superior room' complete with smoking facilities at our front door (yuk) was a little better but hwy noise was still very obvious. The room was modest in size with reasonable, if well worn, furniture. Just as well the air con worked because windows were locked with key lock, but of course we weren't given a key. Then again if we did open them we would have had the truck noise, so maybe it was just as well. The onsite dining room was equally quite expensive but we did not patronize it - we had paid enough surcharges. All up it is hard to recommend the Sanctuary Inn

« Good value, friendly helpful staff »

A wonderful warm welcome from staff. We had a room at the back so were not disturbed by traffic. Rooms are small and basic but very clean. A good supply of tea and coffee with fresh milk and biscuits complimentary as well. The full breakfast for $20 was very good. Huge choice of cereals, fresh fruit salad, Bircher muesli , yogurt toast tea and coffee and a choice of about six cooked brekfasts. The eggs benedict was perfect.

« Sanctuary Inn Hotel Review »

Excellent Hotel with very clean and modern facilities. Very reasonably priced. Friendly staff even down to cleaning staff. Beautiful place to stay right near plenty of eateries, petrol and biggest Woolworths I have every seen. So whatever you want or need all close to hand. Short drive to most attractions whether sporting or music. Will certainly stay there on our next trip to Tamworth.

    « Poor Value »

At $199 per night the hotel had a small bathroom, shower with plastic curtain and poor TV. The room was big with a spa bath and the bed was comfortable. The passages outside were straight concrete - no tiling.

« Too noisy and too small. »

When I checked in I specifically asked about the noise as the motel is located on the main road, and was told they had never had complaints before. Well, here's your first complain Best Western Sanctuary Inn. If you like the sound of truck air brakes at 3am in the morning, then this is the motel for you. The charm of trucks changing down gears as they approach the nearby roundabout - then book quickly, as this is where you need to stay. The upside is that you can't lose anything in your room as it is so small that once you are locked in your "cell" you really can't unpack. You also get the chance to become acquainted with your neighbors as you will know each time they flush their toilet, cough, or breathe. The walls are paper-thin and you hear everything. The board out the front boasts about their restaurant but when I checked out the menu it was sub-standard and over-priced for what it is. Breakfast menu written by someone who thinks they are smart - but as a result is simply too confusing (and expensive) to bother with. Hugely disappointed by this motel. Would give it a miss.

    « Clean, comfortable stay »

Hotel was accommodating to our very late (11pm) check in with no fuss. Room clean and well appointed, quiet enough that we fell asleep quickly. Would recommend to travellers. Centrally located and easy to find.

« Check Internet pricing first »

We had a quick over night stay at the Best Western on a resent motorcycle trip through the region. We called into this motel and they quoted $165. We thought that it was expensive but a storm was about to hit so we accepted. The following morning i checked on the net and found that i could have book a room for $135. This option was never offeted to us. VERY DISAPPOINTED.......??????

    « The best »

Room is tip top, friendly people, fantastic restaurant. What else do you want. Our second time in this well situated motel. you feel immediatly home. A good place to stay the night on your way from Sydney to the Gold Coast.

    « I really like the Sanctuary »

I stayed at the Sanctuary back in 2010 on my first visit to Tamworth but it wasn't available during the Country Music Festival in 2013. I got to stay there again on my most recent visit. The rooms are a good size and clean. They are quiet and have good wifi and the restaurant is very pleasant. Still my "go to" place in the city because it is so convenient to downtown. The only drawback I guess is getting in and out of the parking lot because you are right at the traffic circle (roundabout) but you figure out a strategy pretty quickly.

« Nice rooms and breakfast »

Very friendly staff checked me in. The rooms were large, clean, reasonable and modern with a big screen tv. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was clean with decent toiletries and towels. Dinner there was a good steak but it came with only chips. When I asked for a salad they apparently had none on the menu which I found a bit disappointing and it was $10 for a glass of red wine which I also thought a bit much for a small hotel. Breakfast was very filling with biircher museli and crispy bacon and eggs as well as french pastries, so made up for a bit of the disappointment of the dinner.

    « Excellent Stay »

Staying in small country towns can be daunting but BW Sanctuary Inn was excellent. Arrived after a 7 hour drive and found we had been upgraded. Room was newly rennovated, excellently laid out and very comfortable. Easy walking distance to Woolworths as well as Oporto/Subway/McDonalds etc. Parking right out the front. Staff were very friendly and made it easy. Only suggestion would be - it was a 36 degree day and our air con struggled - if you have guests arriving that day may be worth switching the air con at say 2 so the room is cool. Otherwise awesome.

    « Overnight stay »

Stayed overnight on trip to Bathurst from Brisbane. Room was ok for the price. It was due for refurbishment as was explained when we paid. Staff were helpful and friendly. Didn't try the restaurant. Slept well even though we were in end unit by the road so noise was not an issue. Would stay again.

« Regular Long Term Guest - Will Never Return! »

My family and I are big fans of the Best Western Chain given their extremely comfortable King Koil beds. We have been regulars at this particular motel several times over many trips to Qld over the years, but no more!!! Earlier this year I (stupidly) attempted to check in just before the "County Music" Festival was about to begin. Their quote (on arrival around 7pm) for a twin room was originally $310, then reduced to $250 as I was a return guest (unfortunately the receptionist didn't check her records to see how regular!) - usually our accommodation is around $120ish per night and we always eat (well, and spend up big in the restaurant)!!! Needless to say, we drove further on that evening - yes we were tired, but much richer!!! This older, grumpy (should have known better) receptionist also said - she would still be able to sell her last 2 rooms at the full rate, as it was raining... Sorry, not impressed......

    « Award Winning Restaruant »

This motel is on the corner of a major road but doesnt feel like it as there is a bypass that a lot of cars and trucks use so noise is not an issue here. The rooms are very well furnished and have mini bar and air conditioning with good parking and multi road access. The restaruant is an award winning one and have a good variety of dishes which are a little on the expensive side but very good quality. It is also very close to 4 fast food outlets and main shopping centre are within easy walking distance.

    « Expensive but good »

Stopped here because I was tired. Surprised by the price but the room was spotless, nicely appointed and quiet. King bed. The restaurant is expensive and one of those where vegetables are extra cost as is almost everything else. I don't understand that as other than profiteering. Having said that the steak I had was excellent, cooked to perfection and the smoked tomatoes were delicious. No way I was paying nearly $10 for steamed veggies. Give people a decent , well balanced meal like they do in Glen Innes is my suggestion. The serving only the meat is pretentious in my opinion. Aside from that a good clean pace to stay if a little pricey.

    « Comfortable and Roomy »

Although this motel is on a main road, traffic noise was unnoticeable. The bed was one of the most comfortable I have slept in & the bathroom had a proper bath. The motel was only a block from Peel St & easy to drive in & out of. Did not eat at the restaurant although the menu looked nice but the rooms were quite large and comfortable. Would stay there again.

« Enjoyable and comfortable stay »

We stayed here for a few nights during Christmas whilst visiting family. We had 5 or so hours from Sydney on Christmas Eve and were greeted by friendly and helpful staff - the check in process was quick and easy and our room was ready which is always great after a long car trip. We stayed in room 55 which was the luxury spa suite and it was just that. The room was super clean and had a boutique style to it with well thought out dressings and finishes. The room had a warm inviting feeling to it which made our stay so comfortable. As it was the holiday season we decided to have dinner at the hotels restaurant The Lobby - the menu was well planned and fitted to the season and the food was 5 star. Would definitely recommend to anyone who stops through Tamworth.

    « Tired and old »

Arrived for 1 night bed was clean and very comfortable but the rest of the room needs a total overhaul. Spa bath was black and worn, paint off walls and plaster patch ups everywhere. Carpet was old needed replacing and bench cupboards need replacing. Reception was welcoming but would not stay here again unless they did a total revamp.

« an ideal location on junction of Oxley and New England Highways. »

Arrived at end of very long day and a little travel weary. Two rooms in suite configuration awaited us. Well appointed and comfortable. Staff on desk efficient and pleasant. Capped off day with very nice dinner in their restaurant. The steak would have rivalled many in more upmarket dining halls. The staff serving on table were local and laid back but very helpful. No hesitation in recommending all, and will be back.

« unprofessional attitude.... front desk receptionist ........ »

The receptionist at the front desk ruined what was otherwise a pleasant stay at the so called sanctuary inn .....she was ill equiped to handle legitimate problems and was argumentative and rude when we tried to explain our concerns about the television not working in our room after a very long day on the road ...multiple excuses were fforcefully conveyed by the woman indicating that the problem was Foxtel & free to air facilities that had nothing to do with the motel. When we suggested that a compensation should be offered we were clearly told that the cost of $ 129 for a Sunday night was a very good deal & we should be satisfied with that ...we were told that no other guests had complained & our expectations were unreasonable. We were also told that the manager would discuss the situation with us at checkout time in the morning but there was only a junior on the desk & the manager was nowhere to be seen. The manner in which we were treated will influence our perception of the " Best & Western chain"....A classic case of bad attitude .....the room was pleasant enough& clean but really quite basic & dated for the price....certainly not a sanctuary! There are other options in Tamworth worthy of consideration On the positive side the meal in the restaurant was of excellent quality, big city prices-as was the wine however the meal was certainly a cut above the average....... And the waitress in the restaurant was a stark contrast to the receptionist...a delightful young lady, helpful and professional ....she had obviously learnt that to work in hospitality it is best to be hospitable.......

« Not sure about next time »

Tamworth motels are overpriced because they can regularly fill the house due to the many sporting events in the city. I struggled to convince myself that I received $139.00 of value for a standard room. Pros - the bed linen was fresh and white...love the doona arrangement. The bathroom was very clean including the shower curtain. Internet was free and very handy for checking emails. Cons - The furniture is very old and needs to be updated. The bathroom décor also needed to be freshened up. The aircon was appalling - a very old and noisy wall unit which we had to use when we were desparate because there is no access to fresh air unless you open the door. We were there for 3 days. I asked the housekeeping lady if we could have more milk on the 2nd day and I am still waiting for the milk. A friendly reception depended on the person working at the time. Jay was lovely.

    « as someone once said... ' I'll be back ' »

A friend had recommended this hotel to me and they were spot on !! Greeted ever so pleasantly as soon as I entered the beautifully presented foyer, my 2 night stay certainly did not disappoint. My room was nicely renovated, clean, fresh and the bed and pillows super comfortable. Nice and quiet and had 2 undisturbed sleeps, a great shower also !! I decided to try the ' Lobby " restaurant on premises and must say, 5 stars probably isn't enough, sensational meals, entree, mains and dessert ( try the strawberries ) My compliments to the chef and also the restaurant staff, thoroughly enjoyed ! unfortunately I couldn't eat there on the second night due to work commitments... Breakfast also did not disappoint and Rachel is a lovely hostess with a very pleasant demeanour. The restaurant and foyer/ bar area is extremely welcoming and clean. All in all I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The staff are a delight from reception right through to the house keepers and the hotel manager, Evelyn , took the time to ask if my stay had been satisfactory as I was checking out..... it more than certainly was and I will definately be staying here again on my next trip to Tamworth. ThankYou Best Western Sanctuary Inn.

« The pleasant and friendly staff »

My wife and I had the pleasure of staying at the Sanctuary Inn in Tamworth recently. I travel extensively for work and decided we would have night at this particular motel as I have heard good reports about the motel. I must say from the time we booked in to the time we left our stay was most enjoyable. The friendly greating we we received from the lady who was working at reception was very unusual to what I am usually treated by at most motels. She had a smile on her face, she was pleasant and she engaged with us The rooms were extremely clean and we'll appointed, they accommodated for my wife who was on crutches at the time, with a room close to reception and the restaurant. The food in the restaurant was what you would expect from a motel of this standard. Complements to the motel and its owners

    « Good »

I've stayed many times at the Sanctuary Inn and I've never been disappointed. The staff are friendly and the rooms are modern and clean. The restaurant is a little expensive but the food is delicious. The breakfast is also very good. Although its situated next to the highway there is very little traffic noise.

« Stayed on the way back home »

Picked this hotel by chance. The reception staff were very friendly and were able to fit me in, (Motel full that night), and I got a family room. The Motel looks like it is being updated and there are works going on. Room needs the work, but was comfortable and quiet.and with the Restaurant on site it makes it very convenient.

« Back again for another stay »

We have stayed here before but came back for a night as we were in town for a show. We had stayed here a while ago and I didn't think the place was anything special back then. We had a smaller room this time which seemed a bit newer. It was a nice enough room and seemed clean enough. The A/C made a funny noise all night but wasn't too bad. We had tea in the restaurant and oh my gosh..... that was the best food i've ever had! Very expensive for a family to eat there but it was so worth it. The staff in the restaurant were also very nice. I tried the wi-fi this time on the kids tablets and don't bother with it, its too slow and can only work on one device which just screams cheap and tight practices on behalf of motel. Overall it was a better stay this time and little things don't bother me too much but as always its the price that gets me, it could be a little cheaper.

« Reasonable value close to the town centre »

Comfortable bed, hot shower and fairly quiet in our room at the back of the property. The room fridge was full of mini-bar items and needed unloading to fit our own stuff in it. It might be meant as a convenience but it makes it a nuisance if you actually wish to use it for yourself. The trees are nice but are tearing up the kerbing so mind your car doors.

« Poor room but nice restaurant »

This is one of a number of Best Western motels in Tamworth so make sure, when you book, that you choose correctly. Some are on the Sydney side of Tamworth, this one is on the main Armidale Road and, unfortunately is located on a busy intersection - the main highway to Queensland. If your room is on the highway side it is very noisy, great if you like the sound of compression braking and heavy vehicles but this can make sleep difficult. Great if you are a truck-spotter. Nineteen big rigs in 20 minutes although the frequency reduces as the night goes on. The block of rooms I was staying for some nights was very, very tired and, frankly, a little dirty. The room was consistent with a 1970s style modest motel room. I suspect it had been some weeks since the carpet was vacuumed. Forensics, I feel sure, would have a field day. Parking for my room was a little distance away from the room. The bathroom was of fair size but again broken tiles and a poor shower recess detracted from the comfort. Internet access is supposed to be free WiFi but I found it to be very flakey and resorted to my 4G on my iPad - quicker and more reliable. Having said that I have stayed for work in a newer room and set back from the highway which was considerably quieter. The staff are excellent and the on site restaurant (The Lobby Restaurant and Bar) very pleasant with quality offerings and a good wine list at reasonable prices. There are better accommodation options in this pleasant rural city but the restaurant is worth a visit.

« Great Place to Stay »

Stayed with friends for 1 night on our way to Mudgee. Having to book about 10 rooms the experience was very easy with no problems at all. The staff are very friendly and professional. We had a BBQ in the pool area which was clean and tidy. We all had breakfast which was of a high standard and very enjoyable. This motel is a must stay if visiting Tamworth.

    2
« Not so family friendly »

Our your child was ill with a respiratory issue and we had the smell of cigarette smoke coming through a vent in our room. When it was reported to staff they tried to say it must have been the smell of the hotel fireplace which it wasn't & would not entertain the fact that it was cigarettes. The hotel restaurant prices were also not family friendly. On the plus side, the family rooms were large.

    3
    « Disappointing »

We only stayed overnight in the Sanctuary and we have stayed they before. Unfortunately even though our room was non smoking the bin for the smokers had been placed under the awning outside our bathroom window. When the exhaust fan was put on it drew the smoke(as there was a mesh vent) in through the window and into the room. At 9.30 at night we felt we were sitting in a room with a smoker. The tariff for the room was high and although the room was very clean we could smell the smoke all night. Both my husband and I are non smokers and were exhausted as we had traveled from Brisbane so it was very disappointing. I hope the Sanctuary can address this issue for the future.

    « Expensive night »

Stayed 1 night here, cost us $135.00, room was not up to date, floor needed repairing & some of the tiles were off. The aircon was noisy & rattled. Food was overpriced. Everytime you opened the door it hit the fridge.

« Great place to stay »

We stayed there overnight on Friday the 5th September. We had a Queen Spa Suite. We had some minor issues with the card to get into the room but the staff were excellent doing everything they could to fix the problem which required a couple of new cards but everything worked out well in the end. We had breakfast there and it was great, good menu and I loved the touch of a quick phone call letting us know the meals were on the way to our room, just in case we over slept. Check out was fast and easy staff made our stay so enjoyable we will be back again when we stay in Tamworth
